Thomas: Charlie, are you sure you can do this? Hack into a security system?

Charlie: Well, technically it’s not hacking. I mean, as– as head of security at forrester, I’m considered an authorized user.

Steffy: Forrester, sure, but we’re talking about the private residence.

Charlie: I set it up. I mean, I hung all the cameras myself. Carefully, precisely, to get the exact right exposure. I think you can consider me authorized.

Steffy: It doesn’t matter if you’re authorized or not. We need you to access the footage. We need proof that brooke kissed deacon.

Brooke: So you really believe my secret’s safe?

Hope: I do. You know, douglas says, stop talking about santa, right? And my dad promised not to tell anyone.

Brooke: Nobody else can ever know.

Hope: Especially not ridge.

Taylor: No matter what, I’m here for you. You know that. And that means that I am here for your wife, too. So if there’s anything that I can do.

Ridge: I–I appreciate all of that more than you know, but I’m actually not here as a patient. I’m here as a friend.

Taylor: Okay, fine. Listen, I can’t help myself. It’s the setting.

Ridge: I get it. Are you happy you moved back?

Taylor: Yeah. It’s the best decision I ever made.

Zende: Look, grace, I appreciate your support. I do, and I agree with you, I think paris and I could be very happy together. What am I saying? We are happy together now. We have a lot of fun. Well, we don’t have is the responsibility of commitment. And if that happens one day, great. But in the meantime, I’m fine with keeping things loose.

Paris: Well, you shouldn’t be. Trust me, zende. Keeping it loose? A bad idea.

Grace: Zende is who my daughter should share her life with. You are an older man who was engaged to her sister. End it with paris or I’ll go to ridge.

Paris: Carter, more wine?

Carter: Thank you.

Paris: So, you want to tell me why you’ve been acting so mysterious? What’s going on in that handsome head of yours?

Carter: Am I being mysterious?

Paris: A little bit.

Carter: I guess everything about the two of us, these feelings we developed… it’s been a bit of a mystery.

Paris: Something that neither of us expected, that’s for sure.

Carter: And it’s also something we’ve kept from everybody. It’s time for that to change.

Ridge: Here’s one of kelly on her birthday.

Taylor: Oh, oh, that is so cute. Steffy never sent that to me, would you?

Ridge: I’ll try. Of course.

Taylor: Too many birthdays missed, too many holidays.

Ridge: Well, it’s been difficult lately.

Taylor: Yeah. Because of whatever it is that’s going on with brooke.

Brooke: I just have to trust you’re right. You know, and believe that nobody else will learn what happened.

Hope: Yeah. I mean there’s really no reason anyone should.

Brooke: Yeah, it’s just kind of hard not to be concerned. You know, knowing that taylor’s back in town and probably waiting in the sidelines, waiting for something bad for ridge and me to happen and thomas and steffy egging them on. I really don’t think that those two would care if my marriage were to fall apart. As long as their mother had… had another chance with ridge.

Thomas: Still sleeping soundly.

Steffy: Thanks.

Thomas: Yeah. So, how are we doing here?

Charlie: Now, I got the ip address. Just need the password, which is “lemon bars.” That’s it. I’m in.

Steffy: What? You are?

Charlie: Oh, yeah. We got live cameras here. We got a library, we got settings. Let’s see how far back the videos are saved. You say you want to go to new year’s eve?

Thomas: Yeah, yeah. Brooke was having a gathering. Deacon should be there and hope and liam too.

Steffy: Yeah, I think they left around the same time.

Thomas: Okay, yeah. Well, then we need to know if deacon came back.

Charlie: Let’s find out. Kim is now demonstrating her congestion.

Zende: A bad idea?

Grace: Yes, a bad idea. I’m just trying to–

Zende: Come in!

Sequoyah: Hey, zende.

Zende: Hey, sequoyah.

Sequoyah: So, I’m heading to my fitting now, but it shouldn’t take too long. We still on for tonight.

Zende: Definitely.

Grace: I’m not.

Grace: Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I don’t get what you and paris are doing.

Paris: So, what are you saying? You’re ready to start telling people about us, which I’m not totally opposed to, but we don’t really know what this is yet? If there’s a future here.

Carter: I can see it. A future with you. I realize it would be complicated, but I know it will be worth it.

Paris: I think you’re right. A future with you… I could see it too.

Ridge: Did you get it?

Taylor: I did. Oh my gosh, you’re right.

Ridge: His team lost 6-1 and he didn’t care at all. Isn’t that cute?

Thomas: Suspect?

Charlie: Yeah, it’s a nefarious sort lurking at brooke’s doorstep on the day in question.

Steffy: Oh, no. It kind of looks like she’s getting a delivery.

Thomas: Yeah.

Steffy: We’re looking for something later in the night.

Charlie: You know, as a professional, I’m–I’m going to jot this down, okay? So, you got a pad and a paper anywhere? You got– ow!

Steffy: Oh, sorry. Damn cactus strikes again.

Charlie: Yeah. One request? Can we remove all dangerous plant life from the immediate vicinity? Thank you very much.

Thomas: Okay, do you want me to take over, charlie?

Charlie: I’m–I’m– I’m trained to push through the pain, thank you very much.

Thomas: All right.

Charlie: Okay, here we go. Okay, we got hope and liam leaving, carrying two very sleepy children.

Steffy: What about deacon? I thought he left?

Charlie: Affirmative. There he goes.

Thomas: Okay. Keep going.

Paris: So, I have to ask, what’s inspiring this? You really want to put it out there and tell people about us?

Carter: I don’t want to run around and hide. I did that with quinn. It was wrong. It’s no way to start a relationship.

Paris: I get that. And so will zende. He’ll understand.

Carter: No. He won’T. Zende will never know about us. Nobody will. We have to end our involvement…tonight.

Ridge: Very kind of you, taylor.

Taylor: Well, you are a wonderful husband.

Ridge: Well, sometimes, a lot of times I question that.

Taylor: Yeah? I speak from experience, don’t I?

Ridge: Yes, you do.

Taylor: Ridge, whatever it is that’s going on, your faith in your wife is… it’s beautiful, and you really are there for her. I hope she’s always deserving of that.

Brooke: Oh, my god. I could just imagine what steffy and thomas would do if this were to get out.

Hope: Mom. Mom. I don’t want you to do this, okay? I don’t want you to get caught up in all the negative thinking and all the “what ifs”. Just believe that no one else is going to find out about what happened with dad that night, okay?

Steffy: Can you believe this? Dad’s stranded and he can’t make it back into town and what does brooke do? She invites deacon over.

Thomas: I know. It’s disturbing.

Charlie: Okay, okay, here we go. We’ve got motion on the patio. Could be deacon leaving. No. Oh no, no. Wait, wait. It’s just the opposite. It’s somebody approaching. It’s a small child.

Thomas: Yeah, that’s just douglas. He was looking for a stuffed animal.

Steffy: It must have been when they were kissing. Douglas saw.

Charlie: Bad news. I–I don’t think the cameras caught deacon leaving. I’m already into the next day.

Thomas: Wait. That’s weird. How’s that possible? You said you had the whole place covered, so how did deacon leave unnoticed?

Charlie: Did– wait a minute. Wait, wait. He–he didn’T.

Steffy: Didn’t what?

Charlie: Slip out… until the next morning.

Steffy and thomas: What?

Charlie: There he is. He’s leaving out the back way, dressed in the same clothes.

Steffy: I can’t believe this.

Thomas: He spent the night?

Steffy: I was disgusted before when I heard that brooke kissed deacon, but this?

Thomas: I know. Dad always wants to see the best in her. He wants to, you know, defend her. But.

Steffy: Well, this just shows that she isn’t worthy. I need a copy sent to me right away.

Thomas: Now, roger that.

Charlie: This… this isn’t going to end well for brooke, is it?

Charlie: For brooke? Absolutely not. But it is going to end well for our father, once he finds out the truth out about brooke and deacon.

Paris: You want to end this?

Carter: I care about you, paris.

Paris: Okay, so why do this? Why not see where this could go?

Carter: Because it would never work. Not after what I did with quinn and I know that you and zende aren’t serious and then it’s a completely different situation. The forresters will never see it that way. They’ll see me going after zende’s woman, interfering with another forrester relationship and that can jeopardize your standing with the company, with the family, paris. Can’t let that happen.

Paris: Zende will help explain to his family that we agreed to let things be casual. No one’s cheating here. I don’t see how anyone could be upset.

Carter: Just will. It’s complicated. Zende can give you the best life. Everything that being a forrester means.

Paris: I don’t care about that. Something is happening between us, carter. Something that I’ve never felt before and I’m guessing that you haven’t either. We owe it to ourselves to find out what we could have. I don’t want to let you go.

Carter: This is the way it has to be.

[ Brooke sighing ]

Ridge: You know what I miss? I’m just walking into this house, seeing you happy. Hearing you laugh, seeing you smile. Think we’ll ever get there again, you think we’ll ever get past that night? What can I do?

Brooke: I don’t know.

Ridge: I gotta do something. Can’t keep going like this. It’s not your fault.

Brooke: I want to believe that. I do. It’s just… I’m just scared.

Ridge: I’m not scared at all. Because I know what you’re capable of. I know what we can do together. Face anything. Nothing’s going to come between us. You have to believe that.

Thomas: So what’s your next step?

Steffy: We’ll figure that out once mom gets here, but she needs to know the truth about brooke. That there’s a chance that mom and dad could get back together.

Taylor: Steffy? Hey. I got your text. Hey, thomas.

Thomas: Hey.

Taylor: Hi. Is everything okay? Where are the kids?

Steffy: The kids are fine. They’re asleep.

Taylor: Okay. Well, you– are you guys okay? What’s going on?

Steffy: Well, you know how we’ve–we’ve talked about our family quite a lot recently, and, you know, we’re so happy to have you back. It’s just… it’s nice to finally be together. All of us?

Taylor: Yes.

Steffy: Yeah.

Taylor: Yes, it is. Your father and I were just talking about that.

Thomas: Wait. You were with dad?

Taylor: Yeah, yeah. He came by the office to check on me. It was very sweet.

Thomas: Huh.

Steffy: What’s going on, you guys?

Steffy: Mom, dad’s not just being sweet. He really cares about you.

Taylor: Yeah.

Steffy: You’ve confessed that you still love him.

Taylor: Because I do. Steffy, thomas. Is that why I’ve been called over here? Is that what’s so important? I… you guys, I don’t want you getting caught up in wishful thinking, okay. Your father is married to brooke and his life is with her and the logans. It’s really best if we all just accept that and move on, okay?

Steffy: What if we don’t have to? What if we could change that? I mean, we’ve all sensed that something’s off with brooke. Hope’s been worried. So is dad. Thomas and I, we finally figured out what it is. We know now.

Taylor: Wait, something really is wrong?

Steffy: Mm-hm.

Thomas: Very, very wrong.

Steffy: Look, I would never wish for the end of dad’s marriage, and i would hate for him to go through that kind of pain, but after seeing and hearing what we have, mom,

Taylor: Come on. Just tell me what’s going on.

Steffy: We’ve all– come on, mom. We have all given brooke the benefit of the doubt, and we did it for dad’s sake. We thought that she could put dad first, but she’s incapable of it.

Taylor: Steffy, just tell me what has happened–

Steffy: She cheated on him.

[ Taylor gasping ]

Steffy: So am I. But that’s not enough to convince dad.

Thomas: Okay, right now, we have my son’s word against brooke’s word. I’m not going to put douglas in that position.

Steffy: You don’t have to. I think I know how to get actual proof.

Brooke: I really wish you didn’t go to see deacon.

Ridge: I wasn’t trying to start anything.

Brooke: Makes me nervous. I don’T…

Ridge: Why- no need to be nervous. Deacon doesn’t know what happened on new year’S. Secret is safe.

[Throat clearing]

Zende: Yeah, I’ll give you those changes right away. Okay. All right. Bye. Grace, I’m sorry. I did not mean to keep you waiting.

Grace: It’s okay. I understand you’re very busy. You are a very successful, young man. And paris is very fortunate to have you in her life. And she knows that.

Paris: Wow. I know you said you had something special planned, but this?

Carter: Too much?

Paris: No, it’s perfect.

Carter: Well, this is going to be a night to remember. I wanted you to know that I went all out.

Paris: Well, you are off to a great start.

Zende: Your daughter is an exceptional woman.

Grace: You two make a gorgeous couple. And a happy one, too. Or so I thought.

Zende: So did I. But I am not sure how paris feels about me right now. That’s why I agreed to keep things loose and casual. Take the pressure off. I assume that’s why you want to talk to me.

Grace: It is, but I’m not going to be coy about that. I believe you and paris belong together. And paris may be a little confused right now, but I’m not. You are the only man for my daughter, zende.

Carter: I picked up dinner from that thai spot you love.

Ridge: So I was just telling your beautiful mom that I ran into deacon, and he doesn’t know about the relapse.

Hope: I heard.

Brooke: Just wish I could go back and change what I did that night. I hate keeping secrets.

Ridge: Well, there are some things that not everybody needs to know, and with that in mind, I’m going to leave the two of you. I won’t be long.

Hope: Thanks, ridge.

Ridge: Right, uh. And I know deacon is family, but for your mother’s sake, let’s, uh, keep him out of what happened on new year’S. Cool? Bye.

Brooke: Bye.

Thomas: You think that we can prove brooke was with deacon?

Steffy: It’ll take some work, but maybe.

Thomas: Okay. I don’t want douglas involved.

Steffy: No, he already told us brooke and deacon were kissing. It’s up to us to get the evidence to bring to dad.

Thomas: Right. So what evidence?

Steffy: Something he can’t excuse or explain away. We need access to the video footage from dad and brooke’s security system. (Peaceful music)

Grace: I can feel how much you care about paris. She is extraordinary.

Zende: She is. And having paris in my life has made it so much better. I don’t want to lose her, but I don’t want to hold her back either.

Grace: I see.

Zende: My feelings for paris haven’t changed, but like I said, I am not sure that she still feels the same way about me.

Paris: Try it.

Carter: Mm! Oh, that’s spicy.

Paris: That’s why I like it.

Carter: Why am I not surprised?

Paris: Too hot for you?

Carter: Just right on the edge.

Paris: Maybe that’s how you like it. You’re thinking about it, aren’t you?

Taylor: Um, audrey, good. You know what, if you can give me the file on mr.Johnson, I’m going to need– ridge, hi.

Ridge: Hey. You got a minute, or you too busy saving the world?

Taylor: I always have a minute for you. What brings you by?

Ridge: I just thought I’d check on you and your new haircut looks, it looks really nice.

Taylor: Yeah?

Ridge: Mm hm.

Taylor: Oh, thanks. Yeah, it was getting so long. Seemed a little wig-gy.

Ridge: Never thought that. How are you doing?

Taylor: I’m wonderful. Even better, now that you’re here,

Brooke: Keeping this secret is making me miserable.

Hope: And you feel like you don’t have a choice.

Brooke: It’s deacon. If the truth gets out, it could be the end of my marriage.

Thomas: We need proof, but accessing footage from brooke and dad’s house? Steff, come on.

Steffy: I know a security professional who could, and luckily for us, he’s on the payroll.

[Phone ringing]

Charlie: This is security. What’s your emergency?

Steffy: Uh, it’s not an emergency, charlie, but I do need help with something,

Charlie: Madam ceo, this is head of security, webber, at your service.

Steffy: That’s what I like to hear. I do have a special assignment for you. Could you come to the house, so we can discuss?

Charlie: Come to the house, now?

Steffy: Yes, it’s urgent and strictly need-to-know. Don’t tell anyone where you’re going.

Charlie: Covert ops. Got it. You can count on me, boss. Be there before you can say “asap.”

Thomas: Okay, you think charlie can help us?

Steffy: We just need someone to get into dad and brooke’s security system. We need to get the footage and get proof that brooke was with deacon that night. I’m amber.

Grace: Yes, paris is young, and she’s gone through a lot of things since she’s come to los angeles. But she always speaks very highly of you, zende.

Zende: Paris and I, uh, get along together. I thought there was a future. Paris clearly just, she isn’t ready for that.

Grace: I know my daughter’s mind, as well as her heart. Never give up on her, zende. You can have the future you imagined. I am certain of it.

Paris: Are you sure you don’t need a little bit of help?

Carter: No, it can wait till later. We should, uh, talk about why I asked you to come over here tonight.

Paris: Oh, so you weren’t just trying to feed me?

Carter: It’s no secret… how I feel about you, paris. How much I admire you. You have this, this light about you. When I’m around you, I get this, this bursts of positive energy. It inspires me. Makes me want to spend even more time with you.

Paris: You do the same for me, even though I still feel a little guilty about zende, but, but he’s seeing other people, and agreeing to be casual. So there’s no reason that we can’t explore what you and I could have together.

Carter: Don’t look at me like that.

Paris: No?

Taylor: Sit down.

Ridge: Thank you. We missed you at the house the other night, but just know the kids are already planning another family dinner for us.

Taylor: Oh, that’s great. I was bummed I couldn’t get away the other night. Nothing makes me happier than spending time with you and our kids and our grandkids. But I have to ask, um, is, is brooke okay with this family dinner idea? She hasn’t been herself lately, ridge, I’m not the only one that’s noticed. Something’s going on with brooke. Talk to me.

Hope: Mum, I’m not going to encourage you to keep a secret, especially when I can tell how much it’s hurting you inside. But I do understand your fear.

Brooke: I just feel so trapped, you know? Not being able to tell ridge the truth, but, keeping it inside makes me feel sick, and I didn’t want to drag you into this, honey. And I am mortified that douglas knows, that he saw me kissing santa

Hope: Hey, mom. He didn’t recognize that it was deacon, and he hasn’t mentioned it in a while. So I really think the best thing to do is just put it out of your mind.

Thomas: What makes you think that charlie can do this? I mean, hacking into a security system?

Steffy: It’s the only way to get footage of what happened on new year’s eve, and charlie is familiar with the systems. He helped me access something with an ip address before, and I’m hoping he can do it again.

Thomas: Okay. All right. Let’s assume he can do it. Will he?

[Knocking]

Steffy: I think that’s him. Hi, charlie, come on in. Thank you for coming.

Charlie: Yeah. Thomas. Are we, are we expecting the whole family?

Thomas: No, no, no. It’s just us.

Charlie: Oh, oh! Well, listen, if you asked me over to watch the kiddies, this is uncle charlie on the case.

Steffy: It’s actually a security job, something that needs to be handled discreetly.

Charlie: What do you, uh, what do you need me to do?

Steffy: We need you to access the security footage of dad and brooke’s house.

Grace: My daughter is a very bright, young woman. But she doesn’t always know what’s best for her. I do. And I am not going to allow anyone or anything to interfere with the happiness I know you two could have together.

Grace: Whatever

Paris: What is it, carter?

Carter: I don’t want you to think that I asked you to come over here under false pretenses. I did want to spend the evening with you, make it special, you know, I want you to understand how I feel about you, even if…

Paris: Even if? What is it? You can talk to me.

Carter: I meant when I said, paris. I asked you to come over here because I want to talk about us. We have to make a decision about this and where we’re going from here.

Taylor: Well, it’s clear that, that you and hope are both concerned about brooke for some reason. I’m not the only one that’s noticed. I– hope came by and she confronted me and steffy. She said that you and her were having a challenging time. Thomas said that she hasn’t been coming into the office, that she’s missed a few meetings. And whenever I bring up the subject of brooke with you, you, you make that face. Get tense.

Ridge: I’m not no, I’m not tense at all, it’s just not something I want to ge into. Everything is fine.

Taylor: I don’t think everything is fine. I think something is going on. I offered my support to hope. And brooke, they both turned me down, which I understand. I’m just going to ask you. Is there anything I can do to help brooke?

Hope: You need to enjoy your time with ridge and not waste it worrying about whether or not someone is going to uncover the secret because, frankly, I can’t imagine how they would.

Charlie: Okay, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. You, you want me to access ridge and brooke’s home security footage?

Thomas: And they can’t know about it.

Steffy: Not until we see what’s in the files.

Charlie: Did, did something happen while they were out, I mean, a jewelry heist, I mean, you think there was a crime?

Steffy: It’s a crime, all right, but not like you’re thinking.

Thomas: So can you do it, charlie? I mean, steffy says you know the system.

Charlie: Well, we upgraded the whole system when sheila came back to town. I picked out all the components myself, the top of the line stuff.

Steffy: So, you, you can do it? You can look at the footage.

Charlie: Yeah. I probably shouldn’t say this, but of course I can.

Thomas: Can you do it from here?

Charlie: Got a computer?

Steffy: Ye– yeah, here.

Charlie: Oh. Well, it should do the trick, I just have to know what I’m looking for.

Thomas: And remember, charlie, no one can know about this.

Charlie: On the qt, got it.

Steffy: We’re almost certain brooke was with another man on new year’s eve.

Charlie: Get out! I mean, stay, but what?

Steffy: Yeah. And right now, it’s our word against hers. So that’s why we need proof. We need evidence that she betrayed dad.

Charlie: Wow, this is sensitive stuff.

Thomas: Yeah, very sensitive stuff.

Steffy: And we’re just trying to protect our father, and I know you’d want that too.

Charlie: Of course. I just can’t believe that brooke would throw her whole life in the wood chipper like that. Eh. Okay, who’s the guy?

Steffy: Hope’s father.

Charlie: Deacon? Deacon sharpe?

Steffy: You understand why this is so urgent? My dad despises that man. And he warned hope and brooke about him since he came back to la that he was trouble.

Thomas: Yeah, and he was right. Steffy: Yeah.

Thomas: The issue is that my son was the person who saw them together, and I don’t want douglas involved in any of this. So we need evidence that we can show everyone.

Charlie: You know, um, brooke has always been really, really good to me. But on the other hand, I answer to you and ridge, and he’s very lucky to have two of you looking out for him. So if what you’re saying is true, and I don’t want to believe it, then there’s only one way to know for sure if deacon was with brooke on new year’s eve. We’re going to find out.

Steffy: My father spent years enthralled with brooke, always putting her happiness above everything else. Brooke never did the same for him. It’s time for dad to open his eyes and get brooke out of his life. Thomas: Lying to his face.

Steffy: There’s no way he’s going to put up with this!

Thomas: I don’t know, steff. I mean, dad has blinders on when it comes to brooke.

Steffy: Not anymore. Not after what douglas justold you. This could be the end of dad’s marriage to brooke.

Brooke: I should have cut

you off a couple of drinks ago.

Hope: Douglas

said he saw you.

He saw you kissing santa claus.

Brooke : Christmas and

new year’s is over.

And you know what we say?

Douglas : Okay, grandma.

Brooke : Oh!

[Door clicking]

[Brooke exhales]

Ridge: Hi.

[Paris clears her throat]

Paris: Why are you guys looking at me like that?

Katie: Um, well, we– we, we were just talking about, um…

Zende: It’s okay. I’ve got nothing to hide. I was just opening up to katie about us. And how I’m still crazy about you.

Grace: End it with paris. Have I made myself clear?

Carter: Grace…

Grace: Zende and paris love each other. That’s who my daughter deserves. That’s her future. Not you.

Katie: Okay. Well, for what it’s worth, um, I think you’re both young and beautiful and fabulous and whatever you decide to be or not to be, to each other then um… it’ll be okay. And I wish you all the best for the future. Okay?

Zende: Thank you, katie. She’s right, you know? What we have is special. We’re great together. And I know that we agreed to keep things loose and casual. I know you’re not ready to jump into anything right now.

Carter: I think we need to slow down here.

Grace: That’s funny coming from you. Were you not just kissing my daughter?

Carter: Paris is a grown, single woman.

Grace: Then why were you hiding it? Because you know it was wrong. Zende still has feelings for paris. But why am I not surprised? That’s how you treat your friends. Eric was a friend, too, right? Whatever this is between you and paris, it ends today or I’m going to the forresters. I don’t know how you got them to forgive you for your affair with quinn, but I doubt it will happen twice.

Ridge: You’ve got to stop doing this. You’ve done nothing wrong.

Brooke: That’s not true–

Ridge: That is true. You’ve been fighting your demons for so long. You’ve been winning. It’s just one slip up. Doesn’t change everything that you’ve done. It doesn’t change who you are. My… sexy, gorgeous, beautiful wife. Don’t forget that, please.

Steffy: You destroy everything.

Thomas: Douglas and kelly are still watching the movie.

Steffy: Brooke doesn’t love dad. She never did, she doesn’t know how. All she knows how to do is just crave and destroy. And for what this time? Because dad couldn’t make it home on new year’s eve?

Thomas: Steff. I, I am as frustrated and concerned as you are. Okay? But douglas, he’s just a kid. So what if we are jumping to conclusions? What if he was possibly mistaken?

Steffy: What if he’s not? What if we could save dad before things get worse? This could change everything, thomas. For us, for our family. For mom and dad. We have to find out exactly what happened that night. We have to talk to douglas together.

New vicks vapostick. Strong soothing vapors…

Zende: So! How have you been? How’s life? How’s your mom settling in? How’s work at the foundation? Have you been on any interesting dates lately?

Paris: Oh, so you’re just going to tack on dating to the end of your laundry list like I wouldn’t notice.

Zende: It sounded more subtle in my head.

Paris: Oh, I’m not the one going on hot dates with models.

Zende: Sequoyah?

Paris: I don’t know. Is there anymore?

Zende: Not that I can recall. No.

Paris: Well, how was the date?

Zende: It was cool. We went to this spot downtown, listened to some live music. She’s really nice.

Paris: And very beautiful.

Zende: This is awkward. This doesn’t feel awkward to you?

Paris: I wasn’t the one who brought up dating.

[Sighs] Look, this shouldn’t feel awkward. Above everything we’re friends, right?

Zende: Yeah, we sure are. And listen, no matter how great the date was or how beautiful sequoyah might be, it doesn’t change how I feel about you. I don’t say that to put pressure on you or make things more awkward than they are. I just, um, — I know how much you value your freedom and being single. And I just want you to be happy, paris.

Carter: I don’t respond well to threats.

Grace: I’m concerned for my daughter. And I would do anything to protect paris.

Carter: Paris doesn’t need protection from me.

Grace: How many people have you hurt with your lies? And your affair with quinn? Zoe was one of them. She called off your engagement and stayed halfway across the world just to get away from you–

Carter: You have no idea what zoe did to me. You don’t know me.

Grace: I don’t have to. I don’t know, carter. Maybe you are a good guy who’s made some terrible mistakes but you are not good enough for my daughter. Zende is who my daughter should share her life with. Zende is– he’s wonderful. He’s a prince. And she is not going to throw all that away on you. You are an older man who was engaged to her sister. And had an affair with his boss’s wife? You’re a mess. End it with paris, or I’ll go to ridge.

Brooke: What are you doing?

Ridge: Hang on.

Brooke: “I’ve been waiting for you, darling.” Your first words to me. Even though they weren’t meant for me.

Ridge: Don’t remember that. All I remember is you standing by the pool.

Brooke: Serving champagne. I was so in awe of all of you. Especially you, ridge forrester.

Ridge: I was in awe of you. Still am. Look at us. After all these years it feels like it took a lifetime to get here, but we’re here, we made it through everything. We’re going to figure this out, too. I love you too much.

Brooke: I love you more. There’s something I want to say, something I want to tell you.

Brooke: What?

Ridge: I went to see deacon, today.

Steffy: Go, figure. Brooke told douglas to keep quiet, not say anything about what he saw.

Thomas: Yeah, I can’t imagine how brooke must have reacted when she heard douglas was going around saying he saw grandma kissing santa claus.

Steffy: He must have been so confused. Thomas, I promise to talk to douglas gently. I don’t want to put any more pressure on him. But we need to make sure if brooke was really kissing deacon.

Thomas: Okay. Okay. But after that, he’s done. I don’t want douglas involved in any more of this.

Steffy: Agreed.

Thomas: Okay. Nyquil severe gives you powerful relief

[Knocking]

Zende: Come in. Grace?

Grace: I asked pam in reception where you might be. I hope I’m not intruding.

Zende: No, no, absolutely not. What can I do for you?

Grace: Well, to be honest, I did a little digging on you.

Zende: Aha, be careful. You can’t believe everything you read.

Grace: Maybe you’re right but it was pretty incredible.

Zende: What did you find out?

Grace: Oh, it was about a young boy from africa who lost both his parents, who lived in an orphanage where he also lost his brother. A person who came from the worst of circumstances and accomplished what you have? That’s incredible. You’re an amazing man, zende.

Zende: Thank you.

Grace: I am so grateful paris has someone like you in her life. But I need to talk to you about your relationship with her.

Paris : There is someone

that I can’t

stop thinking about.

Carter : And I can’t stop

thinking about you, either.

[Knocking]

Paris: Hey, I got your texts, what’s up? You wanted to see me?

Carter: Yeah. Yes. You okay?

Paris: Oh, I don’t know. I was just with the zende and things are really confusing with him right now. He really cares about me and I don’t want to hurt him but I can’t stop thinking about you.

Brooke: You talked to deacon?

Ridge: I did. I found him exactly where I knew he would be, in the bar surrounded by bottles. It’s the kind of guy he is. You don’t need that in your life, not now, not ever, really. So I told him to stay away from us, to stay away from you. And I know you want him in hope’s life, but–

Brooke: Wait, wait– did you talk to him about my relapse?

Ridge: What? No. Of course I didn’t talk to him about that because you know what, he would use that to try to get close to you. He– no, he’d be the last person I’d talked to about anything.

Douglas: Aunt steffy, you wanted to see me?

Steffy: Yeah.

Thomas: Now, you know, bud, we just uh, want to talk to you for a second.

Douglas: Is this about what I saw at grandma’s house?

Thomas: Yeah. Yeah. Could you uh– could you tell us what you saw?

Douglas: But daddy, I already told you.

Thomas: I know, I know, but aunt steffy just wanted to hear it from you.

Steffy: It’s okay, douglas. We’re a family and we don’t keep secrets.

Douglas: I saw grandma kissing santa claus.

Steffy: But it wasn’t santa, was it?

Douglas: It was mommy’s dad, it was deacon. Hello, how can I?

Zende: You want to talk about my relationship with paris?

Grace: I do. If that’s okay?

Zende: Ah, sure. Of course.

Grace: I know you both have agreed to be non-exclusive but I also know how much you care about my daughter. I see how much you light up when she comes around. You love her.

Zende: Paris is an amazing woman. I just want her to be happy. That’s all I really care about.

Grace: I know. And that’s what I care about, too. And there’s nothing I wouldn’t do to protect my daughter and give her the happiness that she deserves.

Paris: Carter. Carter?

Carter: Yeah um, I can’t stop thinking about you either.

Paris: What’s going on?

Carter: Nothing.

Paris: Something is on your mind.

Carter: You’re right. But let’s not talk about this here. That’s why I texted you, I wanted to ask you to come over to my place later. I have something special planned.

Paris: Oh, yeah?

Carter: I don’t want to sound presumptuous but it might be a night we never forget.

Paris: Okay, I need to get back to work.

Carter: See you later.

Ridge: Here. I know you fought hard to have deacon in your life but you really do have to trust me on this one.

Brooke: What did deacon say?

Ridge: I don’t know. He said that he was protecting you and that he knew things about you that I don’T. He’s desperate, pathetic. I promise you, he knows nothing about what happened on new year’s eve.

Douglas: And when I got there, I looked in the window and that’s when I saw them, kissing, grandma and santa. I mean, I thought it was santa because of the hat and all but when daddy told me to think real hard about what I saw, I realized it was mommy’s daddy.

Steffy: Your dad said that your grandmother told you not to tell anyone. Is that true?

Douglas: And I don’t want to make her mad but it just didn’t feel right keeping it from dad.

Thomas: Yeah. You did the right thing, bud.

Steffy: Yeah, douglas. I know you feel uncomfortable right now but you’re being so brave.

Thomas: Yeah.

Steffy: Okay, I’m gonna ask you one more time. Are you absolutely sure you saw your grandmother kissing deacon?

Douglas: Yes. I’m sure.

Thomas: Okay. I don’t want you to worry about this. All right, bud?

Douglas: Okay.

Thomas: All right. You want to go finish watching your movie with kelly?

Douglas: Okay, daddy.

Thomas: Okay. All right.

Douglas: See you later!

Thomas: See ya!

[Door clicks]

Steffy: I believe every word he said.

Thomas: Yeah, me too. But again, he’s just a kid, right? And brooke could deny it. Then it would be brooke’s word against his.

Steffy: Then we need proof. Something to make it impossible for brooke to deny that she was with deacon.

Thomas: Okay, how are we going to get proof?

Steffy: That’s it. That’s it, I know how we’ll prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that what douglas said is true. We’ll expose brooke. Deacon and brooke kissing? Dad deserves so much better than that. He deserves someone who truly loves and cares for him. He deserves our mother. This could change everything. This could. Our family could finally be reunited, thomas.

Steffy: What did you just say?

Thomas: I couldn’t believe it either. But douglas wouldn’t make something like this up.

Steffy: Of course not, but… he is a little boy with a very vivid imagination.

Thomas: Okay, but I don’t think douglas is imagining anything.

Steffy: How can you be so sure?

Thomas: I can’t be 100 percent sure. But the way that he was talking, he definitely saw brooke kissing santa claus. Except it wasn’t santa, and it wasn’t dad. It was deacon. Brooke was kissing deacon.

Brooke: Thank you, sweetie.

Hope: You know, it is going to be okay, mom.

[ Brooke sighing ]

Brooke: I want to believe that. I do. But secrets have a way of coming out. And douglas knows enough not to talk about it, but… now, I’m just worried about your father.

Hope: Dad promised not to tell anyone anything about what happened between the two of you. Especially not to ridge.

Deacon: You think you know everything there is to know about brooke, don’t you?

Ridge: I do.

Deacon: You think you’re so much better than me. Ivy league education, captain of industry. To me, you seem like a guy that was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple. You’re just so confident, aren’t you? So sure that brooke would never want anything to do with a guy like me.

Ridge: I was with you until that whole baseball analogy. My point is this: Brooke tolerates you because of hope. If you think there’s anything else, then you’re just delusional.

Deacon: Delusional, huh? If only you knew. If only.

Katie: So what do you think? Zende?

Zende: Sorry, what?

Katie: I was just talking about the design school panel. They sent the questions in advance. They want to talk to you because you’re a young, successful designer. They want to know about your aesthetic, about your process. But I do have to warn you, all questions are on the table, including those regarding your personal life.

Paris: Hey, I didn’t mean to interrupt.

Katie: Actually, you’re right on time because you might be able to help me with something. Zende here seems a little distracted, and I think I might be looking at the reason why.

Grace: Zende forrester is the ideal young man for paris. And he was all set to propose to her, but that didn’t happen, did it, carter?

Carter: No.

Grace: How long have you had your eye on paris?

Carter: Look, I don’t know what you mean.

Grace: Of course you do, but you’re pretending otherwise. I mean what I say. Paris deserves the very best and that’s zende, not you.

Paris: Actually, it’s you I wanted to speak with katie, but it’s not pressing, we can do it later.

Zende: Or I can go, but you guys can talk now.

Paris: No, no, it’s, it’s not urgent.

Katie: Are you sure?

Paris: Yeah, I am. Oh, by the way, good luck with the design panel tomorrow.

Zende: Thank you. Who told you about that?

Paris: Word gets around.

Katie: Hm.

Zende: The answer is yes.

Katie: I’m sorry, what was the question?

Zende: I could see it on your face. You’re wondering if something’s off between paris and me? It is.

Carter: You obviously like zende very much.

Grace: He is an exemplary young man.

Carter: I agree. There’s no one finer.

Grace: That almost sounds like you consider him to be a friend.

Carter: He is a friend.

Grace: I see. And this is how you treat a friend?

Carter: I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Grace: If you think so much of zende, why were you kissing paris? That’s right, carter. I saw you kissing my daughter.

Ridge: What is it you think you know that I don’T. Nothing? All right. There he is. The con man lying his way through life.

Deacon: You don’t know where I come from. You don’t know what I’ve been through and you sure as hell don’t know jack about who I am now.

Ridge: I know exactly who you are now because I don’t buy any of this, “I’m a changed man” stuff at all. You’re exactly who you always were. You come into town and people get hurt. You’re going to do something and you gonna hurt brooke or hope or both of them because that is who you are. Now, I’m not going to let that happen, I’m going to protect them both from you.

[ Deacon chuckling ]

Deacon: You know, who would have thought that you and I have something in common? We’re both protecting her.

Brooke: If it weren’t for the alcohol, I never would have ended up in deacon’s arms. We never would have kissed and my marriage never would have been in jeopardy.

Hope: Mom, you can’t think like that. And besides, ridge, he loves you.

Brooke: I know that, honey. And I always want to believe that love conquers all, but in this case, with a secret that is this explosive?

Steffy: My god. Deacon and brooke?

Thomas: I know. Shocking. But not.

Steffy: The two of them… kissing on new year’s eve

Thomas: While dad was out of town.

Steffy: But dad was desperate to come home to be with brooke so she wouldn’t be alone.

Thomas: Well, now we know brooke wasn’t alone.

Steffy: According to douglas.

Thomas: I believe him, sis.

Steffy: Okay, I have to hear everything douglas told you. Thomas, this could change everything. I’m steve.

Zende: So that’s where things stand. I love paris. There is no one like her. But at the same time, I don’t want to pressure her. So that is why I agreed to keep things casual.

Katie: Why do I get the feeling you’re regretting saying that now.

Grace: I’m sure you understand my shock. Walking in here earlier and seeing you lip locked with my daughter?

Carter: You saw us?

Grace: Where are your morals? Your sense of decency? Going behind your so-called friend’s back, trying to steal his girlfriend?

Carter: With all due respect, it’s not like you’re making it out to be.

Grace: Oh, spare me. I don’t want to hear it. I will not let this continue.

Ridge: You’re protecting brooke?

Deacon: Yeah, I am.

Ridge: From what? From what, deacon?

[ Deacon chuckling ]

Deacon: You know, you keep mistaking my restraint for deference. I never realized this about you, but you’re a bully. You are. No, it’s true. I’ve dealt with them all my life, and I’ve got to tell you, I don’t like them.

Ridge: Bully? What are we? 12. I’m asking you, what are you protecting my wife from? What is it?

Hope: Despite his faults, deacon loves you, and he’s going to do his best to protect and defend you, and I know that. And you should too.

[ Brooke sighing ]

Brooke: So you’re saying I shouldn’t worry?

Hope: I’m just saying I don’t want this to completely overtake your life. You know, there are four people who know what really happened that new year’s eve. It’s you, me, liam and my dad. And those are four people who are committed to not saying anything.

Brooke: And douglas, honey. A sweet, innocent little boy who thinks he saw me kissing santa, all because deacon was wearing that santa hat. He has no idea of the ramifications of what he saw. If he says anything, if it gets out? I talked to him, I did, but he’s a child and he already told thomas and steffy and ridge, and they laughed it off like it was some joke. What if he says something again? What if he tells thomas, his dad? I mean, thomas, he’ll just run off to steffy and taylor, and my marriage will be over for good. It’ll be the beginning of the end of ridge and me.

Steffy: Douglas and kelly are still watching the movie.

Thomas: You didn’t say anything to douglas about–

Steffy: No, no, of course not. Now, tell me everything douglas said to you. I want every detail.

Thomas: You already know most of it. You were here with dad and me, when douglas told the story. He saw grandma kissing santa claus. What we didn’t know was that it was actually on new year’s eve and not christmas eve.

Steffy: That’s something else entirely.

Thomas: Yeah. It started out innocent enough. Douglas, he wanted his little stuffed… stuffed rabbit, peanut butter. Right? So, he went up to the main house, looked through the window and saw…

Steffy: Brooke kissing santa.

Thomas: And then I asked him, “maybe it was one of santa’s helpers? Could you remember santa’s face?” And he did. It wasn’t santa claus? It was deacon sporting a santa hat.

Steffy: Wow. Wow, wow. Dad can’t make it home because of a business trip and brooke turns to deacon. The one person dad hates more than anyone. What was she thinking?

Ever notice how stiff clothes can feel rough on your skin?

Zende: Paris says that she wants her freedom, but she doesn’t want to rush things that threw me, you know, hearing how important it is to her when she’s never mentioned it before.

Katie: Well, why would she mention it now?

Zende: What do you mean?

Katie: Why would she say something like that, unless maybe there’s another guy who’s caught her eye?

Carter: I understand you’re upset, but if you allow me to explain–

Grace: You don’t have to. I’ve spoken to zoe. I know about your affair with eric forrester’s wife and what it did to zoe and how much it hurt her.

Carter: And I regret that more than I can say.

Grace: Do you regret sneaking around with quinn too? Violating the sanctity of her marriage with eric forrester? I mean, what kind of man are you, carter? Someone who’s untrustworthy and duplicitous? Because that’s how it appears to me. I don’t find you trustworthy at all and nor are you worthy of paris. I hate having to be so blunt, but your actions have left me no other choice. First and always, I am a mother and I would do whatever it takes to protect my girls. You crossed the line, carter, with what you did to zoe, and I won’t stand by and let that happen to paris.

Ridge: You’re not going to answer me, are you? All right. Let me help you. If you really want to protect brooke, here’s what you do. Sneak out in the middle of the night, like you always do, because you know what? You being here is bad for brooke.

Deacon: Yeah, it kind of shows how much you know, ridge.

Hope: Mom, I mean, you’ve been through so much already. I just, I don’t want to see you get yourself worked up even more.

Brooke: I’m trying not to, honey, really, but my mind keeps taking me back to that night. You know, if ridge finds out what happened… we’ve been through a lot through the years. And he’s forgiven me for… for a lot of things and there’s a limit, you know, a limit to what you can forgive.

Hope: Mom. Please listen to me. You have to stop putting so much stress and pressure on yourself, and you just… you just recommitted to your sobriety. And I think you should just focus on that. You know, not let all this fear and panic overtake you and… try to stay positive and really just… think that, you know, no one’s going to find out about that night and and your secret will be safe. And it’s going to stay that way.

Thomas: Douglas was conflicted. Brooke told him not to say anything, to keep it in the past.

Steffy: Of course she did. She’s trying to cover it up. That’s what the logans do.

Thomas: You think that’s it?

Steffy: What other reason could it be? Why would they tell douglas to keep quiet if it isn’t true?

Thomas: I see your point.

Steffy: Thomas, you know what this could mean for mom and dad?

Your heart is at the heart

of everything you do.

Katie: Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to make you feel insecure. It’s just that if paris is saying these things, could it be there’s another guy in her life?

Grace: You have a history, carter. Not only did you have an affair with eric forrester’s wife, you were engaged to zoe at the time. You were carrying on with quinn behind my daughter’s back. Do you think that’s the kind of man a mother wants in either of her daughters’ lives?

Carter: First, I was not engaged to zoe when I had my affair with quinn. That engagement fell apart because your daughter threw herself at zende. Now, I realized I did things that goes against who I am as a person, the way I try to live my life, but I hate that I hurt zoe. And I hate that I complicated quinn’s life and that I almost lost my friendship with eric and the forresters, but I’ve been working very hard to repair that relationship. From what I understand, zoe is doing well in paris, she’s moving on with her life.

Grace: Professionally, yes, she’s moved on. But in speaking to her, deep down, I believe she’s still in love with you, and I am not going to allow paris to get involved with the man her sister was going to marry. The man her sister still has feelings for. Paris is a jewel. She was named after the most beautiful city in the world. She should be cherished. And that’s what zende does. He cherishes her and appreciates her, and that’s why I am putting a stop to this right now. And if you don’t end things with paris, I will go to the forresters and I will tell them what you’re up to and what you’re doing to zende, another member of their family. And this time, they won’t forgive you. Have I made myself clear, carter?

Hope: You need to believe it, mom. That’s your secret. That it’s going to remain a secret. Forever.

Thomas: I hate to think of dad being played for a fool by brooke, especially at the hands of deacon.

Steffy: Me too, but I could see it coming. You could too. Brooke refusing to listen to dad, hell bent on having deacon back in her life despite their affair.

Thomas: Yeah, well, that was the worst scandal in her family’s history. Brooke sleeping with her daughter’s husband and then having his child,

Steffy: Brooke obviously wouldn’t have slept with him if they didn’t have a connection.

Thomas: Sounds like that connection has been reignited.

Steffy: Sounds like? Are you starting to doubt douglas?

Thomas: No, that’s not what I’m saying. Well, okay, look. Yeah, it’s possible. Douglas… it was dark, and maybe he was mistaken.

Steffy: Thomas, need i remind you that douglas was the one who told us baby beth was alive?

Thomas: I 100 percent believe him, okay? I’m just saying we have to be 100 percent sure.

Steffy: Exactly. Especially if you consider what this could mean for our family, because if brooke truly turned to deacon, dad’s not going to stand for it. He’s going to end their marriage.

Thomas: And that could turn over a new chapter in dad and mom’s relationship.

Steffy: Maybe mom is back for a reason. Maybe this is true destiny at work. Mom’s been alone for so long, and we both know how in love she is with dad. Yes, dad’s been stuck with brooke and the logans, but I really feel that our dad and our mom will finally reunite. This could happen, thomas. Our family could finally be together, a strong family, and we would win this time. Not the logans, but forresters.

Douglas: Yes. Grandma was kissing santa claus except it wasn’t santa, it was mommy’s dad.

Thomas: Brooke was kissing deacon?

[ Thomas sighing ]

Brooke: That night will haunt me for the rest of my life. What button was pushed to make me act so recklessly? Kissing deacon of all people. Drinking with him, waking up with him. What possessed me?

Deacon: Sheila, don’t you have somewhere else that you need to be?

Sheila: Nope. I’m good right here. I’m enjoying your scintillating company.

Deacon: Okay, look, this isn’t social hour here, all right? I’m working.

Sheila: Yeah, clearly you are. You’ve been working overtime. Getting brooke to have drinks with you on new year’s eve? That is quite impressive.

Deacon: You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Sheila: Well then, why don’t you enlighten me? Are drinks the only thing that you shared with brooke?

Sheila: Come on, deacon. If you did more than raise a couple of glasses with brooke, you’ve got to be dying to brag about that. And I’m right here, captive audience.

Deacon: Sheila, if anything else happened between me and brooke, you’d be the last person to know.

Sheila: That hurts. You’re saying that to your only friend?

Deacon: Oh, give me a break. You would sell me out 100 ways to sunday if you thought it would ruin brooke’s life.

Sheila: What?

Deacon: Ridge. You’ve got to get out of here now.

[ Sheila gasping ]

Sheila: Maybe he found out you spent a tipsy new year’s with this wife.

Hope: You’ve been trying so hard to figure out what made you drink that night. But maybe you’re trying too hard.

Liam: Hope’s got a poinT. Maybe it won’t come to you until after you stop thinking about it.

Brooke: It’s just driving me crazy. It doesn’t make sense.

Liam: Well, not everything does. Sometimes you just have to keep living, even if we don’t get all the answers we want.

Brooke: Thank you for going to deacon. I hope he keeps his word.

Hope: Don’t worry about dad. He promised me that he would not tell anyone about what happened between the two of you.

Thomas: Okay, so you’re 100% sure that you saw grandma kissing deacon?

Douglas: At first, I thought it was santa because he was wearing a santa hat. But when you told me to think really hard about what I saw, I remembered more. It wasn’t santa. It was mommy’s dad. It was deacon.

I may have moderate to

severe rheumatoid arthritis.

Carter: We are playing with fire.

Paris: I know. But at least we remembered to close the door.

Carter: Yeah? But I bet it’s not locked and if it were, that would be suspicious. Paris this is… dangerous. Giving into this chemistry between us here at work or anywhere else for that matter.

Paris: I know. But… when I’m close to you…

Carter: We have to have more control.

Paris: I know. Anyone could have walked in. Zende, eric, ridge. Not to mention your mom who clearly wants you to be with zende.

Paris: Yeah, you’re right. It’s–it’s too risky. But I can’t stop thinking about you, wanting to kiss you, be in your arms…

Carter: I want that too.

Sheila: So what do you think the odds are that ridge is here to pick up takeout? No, you know? I’d have to think that he found out about your happy hour with brooke and he’s here to smash your face.

Deacon: Go out the back now before he sees you. Go!

Sheila: You never let me have any fun. Okay, I’ll go.

Ridge: Wow! Could you be any more predictable?

Deacon: Am I supposed to know what that means?

Ridge: Out of all the nice places in L.A., This is where you hang out, right here in a bar.

Brooke: Deacon promised to keep the secret?

Hope: Yeah.

Liam: Hopefully, we can trust him this time.

Hope: We can.

>. Brooke: You’re so sure about that?

Hope: I am. And for two reasons: First, that deacon made that promise to me, his daughter. And if he were to go back on that promise it would ruin the relationship that we’ve been building. You know, dad’s worked really hard to earn back my trust. And I don’t think he would betray that.

Brooke: I want to believe that.

Liam: You said two reasons, though. What’s–what’s the other one?

Hope: Mom. Dad doesn’t want you to be in any pain. He doesn’t want to hurt you. He just wants to make you happy. He loves you.

Liam: Well, I’d buy that. I mean, why would– why would deacon purposely alienate the woman he claims to love?

Brooke: I pray you’re right.

Hope: It will be okay, mom. Dad won’t talk.

Brooke: I hope douglas won’t either.

Douglas: So later, I realized I forgot my stuffed bunny. I wanted to go get it but liam said to wait ’til morning.

Thomas: But you went anyway?

Douglas: But not to be bad. I couldn’t fall asleep.

Thomas: You know it’s not okay to disobey liam, right?

Douglas: I know. I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.

Thomas: Okay, so then you went up to the main house…

Douglas: And when I got to the window, that’s when I saw them: Grandma kissing santa.

Thomas: Only you’re saying that santa was actually deacon.

Douglas: Yes.

[ Thomas sighing ]

Thomas: Are you sure?

Steffy: Kelly’s watching her favorite movie again. What’s going on? Yo you ready?

Carter: You’re with zende.

Paris: Yes, I am dating zende, but we are not exclusive. And he agrees. He even went out with that gorgeous model.

Carter: But zende’s still in love with you. And I don’t want to be that guy that moves in on his friend’s girl. That’s not me or… at least it wasn’t until I had an affair with eric’s wife. He was so hurt and betrayed, paris. I don’t want to do that to zende.

Paris: The last thing I want to do is cause zende pain. But the way you make me feel…

Carter: Paris, I could just…lose my self in you, say the hell with everybody else, but I’m trying to do better. And think about what we both stand to lose. You have a bright future. You don’t want to mess that up getting on the forrester’s bad side. Not to mention your mom has made it super clear she’s team zende.

Paris: I know, I know. We have to be smart. But this connection between us…

Carter: It has to stay between us.

Paris: Look at you. Making me lose track of time. I have a meeting with katie.

Carter: Grace, hey. You just missed paris.

Grace: It’s you I want to talk to.

Deacon: Let’s not pretend this is something it’s not. You know I work here. Which means that I mop floors, I clean the toilets, all for the privilege of living in a broom closet. You know why I do that, ridge? I do that so I can be close to hope. Privilege. That’s– that’s something you know all about, isn’t it? Bet you’ve never done a hard day’s work in your life.

Ridge: Well, that’s not very nice, is it? But you know what? You got a point. Today was an easy day. You know why? ‘Cause I’m gotta go find you and it was easy because I know exactly where you’re going to be. You’re going to be where you belong. In the bar.

Deacon: So, we’re– we’re really–

Ridge: No, hang on a second. You know where you don’t belong? My house. Around hope, around the kids. And especially not around brooke.

Deacon: So we are going to do this again? Okay, great. I thought hope made it abundantly clear that she wants her father in her life. That’s me. Sorry. Nothing you can do about it. And the kids. Well, that’s a package deal. They come with it. As far as brooke. I– I have no idea where you’re going with that.

Ridge: Well, I don’t trust you. Because I know you. And I know you’re working an angle.

Deacon: Well, you’re right about that. You know, I want to be a caring and present father and grandfather. You know, nobody knows more than me what I need to make up for. And you know what? You got me. That’s all I’m trying to do. That’s my angle.

Ridge: I tried to talk to hope. I told her that she shouldn’t have faith in you, but alas, she made her choice.

Deacon: Glad you acknowledge that.

Ridge: You know what it is? My concern is you being around brooke.

Deacon: We share a child together. Our paths are going to cross. Not much I can do about that.

Ridge: Yeah, but you know what I’m saying. I mean, you’re a curse. You’re a bad guy. And bad things happen to brooke when you’re around. So do me a favor. Stay away from my wife.

Hope: I understand that you’re concerned about douglas but you really don’t have to be.

Brooke: That sweet little boy is sitting on information that could end my marriage.

Liam: Yeah, but again. Douglas thinks he saw you kissing santa, not deacon.

Hope: Exactly. Your secret is safe, mom.

Steffy: Is everything all right, you two?

Thomas: Thank you for being open and honest. I know you struggled with it, but it’s always good to be truthful. Okay? So I’m proud of you.

Douglas: Thanks, daddy.

Thomas: Can I get a hug? Yeah! Ooh, that’s a good one! I love you, pal.

Douglas: Love you, too.

Thomas: Uh, do you want to go watch the end of kelly’s movie with her?

Douglas: Sure.

Thomas: Okay.

Douglas: Later, aunt steffy.

Steffy: Later, kiddo. What’s going on?

Thomas: You’re not going to believe what douglas just told me.

Everyone remembers the

moment they heard,

Carter: Something in particular on your mind?

Grace: Always. When you have two daughters who are young women out in the world, you never stop thinking about them. Wanting them to be living their best lives.

Carter: I can understand that.

Grace: That’s why I was so delighted to come to L.A. And see paris doing so well. She’s got a thriving career. Good friends. A relationship with zende that’s sweet and pure. I couldn’t be more pleased.

Carter: Paris is definitely claiming a place here for herself.

Grace: Mm… I see an amazing future for my baby girl. And zende loves paris. And men like him don’t come along every day.

Carter: Yeah. Yeah, zende is a great guy.

Grace: You think so too?

Carter: Yeah, I know so.

Grace: I’m glad we are in agreement. This is going much better than I had anticipated.

Carter: I’m sorry?

Grace: You seem to want the best for paris.

Carter: Yeah, absolutely. She’s a wonderful person. She deserves all the great things in life.

Grace: I agree. And that’s zende. Not you.

Deacon: Could you take these? Thanks. You really ought to try conserving energy for something constructive. Maybe switch to decaf. Ridge, you’re getting all worked up over nothing.

Ridge: I’m not worked up at all. I just don’t like you being here.

Deacon: Well, it’s still a free country, which means I can live wherever I want. And I choose to be here in L.A. Near my daughter.

Ridge: Your daughter, yes. Hope. It’s a good cover, really, when you think about it because all she wants is to have a relationship with her dad. And now you’re making it sound like you want to have one with her. Well, what’s going to happen? I mean, what’s going to happen when she gets hurt? What is she then? Just collateral damage? Because you are obsessed with a woman who wants to have nothing to do with you?

Deacon: Do you hear yourself because you’re the one that sounds obsessed. You got this idea that nothing or no one matters to me except for brooke. Let me make this simple for you. Hope is my whole world. Having a relationship in her life, that is the thing that means the most to me.

Ridge: We both know that the thing that means the most to you is you. But I know there’s something else. I don’t know what it is, but there is something else.

Deacon: Well, then you obviously know something that I don’T.

Ridge: I do. I know that you’re playing out of your league. You always have. I mean, brooke is not going to revisit the biggest mistake of her life. So it’s nothing to do with you.

Deacon: You sure about that?

Sheila: Damn! You’re good. You’re good, you pulled it off! You got brooke drinking again. And this is just the first step to her world crashing down around her pretty, little head. Karma really is a bitch, brooke. Just like you.

Brooke: I just want to believe that douglas won’t go around telling anybody else that he saw me kissing santa.

Liam: Well, yeah, but you– I mean, you said you talked to him, right? And that he’s going to… leave it alone?

Brooke: IsoI certnly don’t want him to say anything. If taylor and steffy and thomas find out, that will be the end of ridge and me.

Steffy: What am I not going to believe? And why did douglas look so upset?

Thomas: I’m not even that certain yet.

Steffy: What?

Thomas: Douglas is an honest kid, though. Like, he– that’s why this was such a struggle for him. He wants to tell the truth.

Steffy: Tell you what?

Thomas: Okay. You know how douglas has been saying he saw grandma kissing santa?

Steffy: Yeah. So? It’s a christmas song. Except it’s mommy, not grandma.

Thomas: It’s not just a song and it was grandma, not mommy.

Steffy: What are you talking about?

Thomas: It was brooke. Steff.

Steffy: What was brooke?

Thomas: Douglas saw brooke kissing santa claus.

Steffy: Okay, so maybe she was kissing dad.

Thomas: Yeah. Not only was it not dad, it wasn’t on christmas eve, either. It was on new year’s eve.

Steffy: That doesn’t make sense because dad was out of town.

Thomas: Now you’re getting it.

Steffy: No, I’m not. If it wasn’t dad, then who was brooke kissing? Thomas, tell me.

Thomas: Deacon. Brooke was kissing deacon.

Steffy: Brooke and deacon?
