[ Nick sighing ]

Nick: Man, I hope faith can get some sleep.

Sharon: Yeah. I hope she can get the sewer smell off of her. It’s a constant reminder of what she’s been through.

Nick: Of what you went through too. You know, I can stick around and make sure everything’s locked up until you get cleaned up yourself.

Sharon: Well, with victor’s security team and all the cops hovering, I think we’re okay. You should get to the hospital and check on sally. Faith and I can look after each other.

Nick: Nah, I– I don’t want to leave you until I know you’re safe.

Sharon: I think we’re safe. Go. Go check on sally and then you need to get some sleep too.

[ Nick exhaling ]

Nick: Yeah, I probably should go.

Sharon: I will call you if anything happens and you do the same, but cameron’s gone, faith is fine and it’s all good news from here.

Nick: Hope you’re right.

Sally: How could you do this?

Adam: I don’t understand.

Sally: I don’t either. So please, find the words because the last thing I remember is I was pregnant with our little girl and now, she’s gone?

Adam: I had to make a decision. Your symptoms, they were getting worse. Elena gave me no time. You were unconscious. I mean, who lives and who dies? This wasn’t a scenario that we discussed. They said that there was a chance that they could only save one of you and it was too soon for her. Her lungs, they wouldn’t be ready.

Sally: So, you just told the doctor…

Adam: I chose you. How could I not?

Sally: You chose me over her?

Adam: No. Look, when you say it like that, that’s not–

Sally: Why? Why would you?

Adam: How could I not?

Sally: She was my everything.

Adam: I couldn’t lose you.

Sally: But you already did, adam. You made that choice a long time ago. I’m not yours anymore. I was hers and she was mine. She was all I had and you let her die! You didn’t even– you didn’t even try and fight for her!

Adam: This– sally, this was the hardest decision of my entire life.

Sally: Could you just not envision a life where someone actually needed you, where you had to step up, possibly on your own, and be the man that nobody thinks you could be?

Adam: I thought that I was making the right choice.

Sally: You destroyed her life. And mine.

Adam: This is not fair, okay? This– this– it’s not–

Sally: Fair? Fair? You want fair? I just lost my baby, my reason. The life that we created and you want fair? I want the life that was ripped out of me! Can you give me that? Can you? With all of your power and your connections, can you give me what was taken away?

Adam: It was taken from us, sally.

Sally: Exactly. She had no one but us.

Adam: Okay. I’m– I’m worried about you.

Sally: Well, you should’ve been worried about her, adam, because she had no one to fight for her but us and I couldn’t do it, but you could and you forced me to let her down. But I promised her that I wasn’t gonna let her down or leave her to fight for herself the way that my parents did to me and that is exactly what she had to do! God! Oh, my god! Someone needs to stop this from hurting so much!

Adam: Do you– do you need the doctor?

Sally: No, I want her! I want her, adam, but you let her die. You’re the reason that she’s dead.

[ Sally sobbing ]

Sally: No, I’m serious. I don’t want to be here without her. I just want my baby.

Adam: Sally, don’t do this to yourself.

Sally: This was done to me, adam. By you. I didn’t even want this. I was terrified of being a mom because I didn’t– I didn’t want to fail my child the way that my mom failed me, but then… you got me pregnant. And you made me love her. And you told me everything was gonna be okay, and now she’s gone. Maybe I just didn’t do enough.

Adam: Of course, you did.

Sally: I was just happier than I’ve ever been because I was gonna bring her into this world. She was– she was gonna be better than me. She was gonna be my game changer and I was gonna give her the life that I never had and if I couldn’t, I trusted– I trusted that you could. And now, there’s just nothing.

Adam: Sally, you were in critical condition, okay? You… you could have died.

Sally: You loved her, didn’t you?

Adam: With all my heart.

Sally: And you would’ve taken care of her and given her a family and a world beyond her wildest dreams.

Adam: It wouldn’t be much of a world without you.

Sally: But you… you would’ve loved her and you would’ve given her to care and attention that a little girl needs?

Adam: I would’ve spoiled her rotten. There’s nothing that I wouldn’t have done for her. Or you, sally. We would’ve spoiled her rotten. We would’ve given her the moon as a toy.

Sally: You would’ve done anything for her.

Adam: That’s right.

Sally: Anything but let me go.

Adam: You– you had to be in the world, sally. You had to live.

Sally: Get out.

Adam: Sally–

Sally: No, get out.

Sally: Get out, please. I’m awake and I’m saying these words that I couldn’t say when you were letting our little girl die. I do not want you. I want her. I want our baby. I just want my baby.

Nick: Sally being examined?

Adam: She’s, uh, she’s with elena.

Nick: It’s just precautionary, right?

Adam: Look, I, um, I wanted to tell you this face-to-face.

Nick: Tell me what?

Adam: When you talked to sally on the phone tonight–

Nick: Yeah, I was– I was with sharon. Uh, seems like a lifetime ago. It was before cameron showed up.

Adam: Right. She was frustrated from being cooped up, okay? She was worried about you, what you were doing, so she wouldn’t sleep. She was threatening to leave if she didn’t get some food that wasn’t room service, so I took her out.

Nick: Oh, come on, man. You were supposed to keep her blood pressure low.

Adam: I know that. Don’t you think that I know that? I wish to god– we were having a good time, okay? We were laughing, we were relaxed. I was trying to keep her mind off of what you were doing with faith and sharon, but her headache would not go away, so I brought her in and I reassured her that everything was going to be okay. They gave her medicine and we waited for it to work, but nothing helped.

Nick: I mean, okay. Wait, sally, I–

Adam: We called you about a hundred times.

Nick: Yeah, I couldn’t answer.

Adam: And what was more important than being with sally?

Nick: Things were getting out of control for us, man. It was life and death.

Adam: Yeah, for us too.

Nick: What are you talking about?

Adam: Nick, you don’t have a damned clue about what we went through. I mean, everything that could’ve gone wrong went wrong.

Nick: What are you saying, adam?

Adam: The baby… she didn’t make it. Our little girl is gone.

Sharon: I guess I have my answer to how far I would go to keep you safe.

Faith: Were you scared when I was gone?

Sharon: Are you kidding? I was terrified.

Faith: Because I wasn’T. Maybe a little, but I knew you would find me.

Sharon: And I knew that you were doing everything you could to stay alive until I got to you. I’m so proud of you.

Faith: You’re the one who saved our lives.

Sharon: For selfish reasons. I love you too much.

Faith: I’m okay with that.

Sharon: Cameron won’t be coming back ever again. There’s no question that he is very dead.

Faith: Thanks to you.

Nick: Adam, I, uh, I don’t know what to say.

Adam: Because there is nothing, so don’t try.

Elena: Hey, nick.

Nick: Hey. Can I see her?

Elena: Yeah. She was just asking about you. Go on in. She’s been through a lot tonight. Looks like you have too.

Nick: I won’t keep her long.

Elena: Okay.

[ Sally whimpering ]

Nick: I’m so sorry. I should’ve been here.

Sally: It should’ve been me.

Nick: What should’ve been you?

Sally: Adam had a choice. To choose between me or the baby and he chose me.

Nick: It was the right choice. I think he chose right, don’t you?

Sally: I already had my life. I’ve tried and I’ve screwed up so many times, but she was pure and perfect and she had her whole life ahead of her. She was… she was going to be feisty and spirited. You would’ve loved her.

Nick: Of course, I would’ve.

Sally: I would’ve made a different choice.

Nick: Look, um, I know how much you hate this, I hate it too, sally, but you got a lot of people who love you. You’re gonna get through this.

Sally: What if this was a test to see if I could be good? I failed. I failed her. She needed me. I need her.

[ Sally sobbing ]

[ Nick sighing ]

Nick: Look, the only thing– they don’t want me to be in here too long, so you’ve gotta– you’ve gotta just get some rest, okay?

Sally: No. No. Please just– please. Just let me go. Just let me go.

[ Sally sobbing ] If you have heart disease and are on a statin,

Elena: Hey, adam?

Adam: Hm?

Elena: It’s important to remember that sally’s not the only person who lost a baby tonight. So, be kind to yourself, okay? A memento.

Adam: What is it? How’s she doing?

Nick: She said she could use something to help her sleep.

Elena: I already put a note in her chart. Something should be here soon.

Nick: Thanks, elena.

Elena: You both should go home. Get some rest. Sally’s already exhausted and you’ve all been through a lot. Good night.

Nick: Good night.

Adam: Good night.

[ Nick sighing ] Man, you look like hell.

Nick: You should see the other guy.

[ Adam chuckling ] I could use a drink. You wanna go somewhere to talk?

Adam: Um, just, there’s something that I need to do first, but uh, meet you at society?

Nick: Yeah.

Elena: I’m so sorry. I really wish things had turned out differently.

Sally: These things happen, right?

Elena: Doesn’t make it any easier. If you want to talk about it…

Sally: Maybe later.

Elena: Or I could just sit here and not talk, if you don’t want to be alone.

Sally: What I’d really like to do is sleep.

Elena: Okay. The nurses should be bringing in your sleep aid soon.

Sally: Thank you.

Elena: The thing that we talked about doing, when you’re up to it, if you change your mind about seeing her.

Sally: I won’T.

Elena: There’s a button on the side of your bed. You just press it and you tell them what you want. This is a gift from the nurses. Good night, sally.

Sally: Good night.

Adam: Thanks.

Nick: Yeah.

Adam: Well, um, I’m sure that you wanna hear the rest of the story. Sure that you’re gonna hear it from her when she’s up to it.

Nick: So, I guess they put her on medication and it wasn’t working?

Adam: The, um, the condition that they warned her about, the eclampsia, they just– they said that they had to induce labor. There– there was a risk, there wasn’t any time and I understood the risks, but you know, the worst thing that could happen, it never happens.

Nick: But it did tonight.

Adam: There was a complication and elena said– she said I had to make a decision. She said if you had to choose only one, who would you choose? Would you choose sally or the baby? And I mean… I mean could you imagine such a thing?

Nick: Yeah, actually, I can.

Adam: I chose sally.

Nick: Well, I’m sorry that you had to make that choice alone, adam. But, I’m glad you were there. Thank you.

Adam: Well, I didn’t do it for your gratitude. I mean, I’m the last person that she wanted to see after I told her what they made me do. I mean, she blames me for everything. I mean, I don’t know. Maybe you would’ve made a different decision.

Nick: It was never my place to make any decisions about sally or the baby. That was all you. The three of you.

Adam: The three of us.

Nick: Look, uh…

[ Nick sighing ] I know this is probably not gonna make you feel any better right now, but you did the right thing, adam.

Adam: I just– I couldn’t imagine a world without sally in it… and now she’s alive, but she’ll never forgive me.

…I’m over 45.

[ Adam groaning ]

Nick: I’m never gonna be able to convince you it’s not your fault, am I?

Adam: It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not because all I care about is sally. Or if she’s okay, her well-being. God, yeah, I was really looking forward to getting to know that little girl. I was ready to give her the world. I would’ve given my life for her and now, we’re just– we’re just supposed to go on. The sun still comes up, the world keeps spinning without her in it. How are we supposed to do that?

Nick: I don’t know, adam, but we do. We endure.

Adam: Look, um, you should– you should go home.

Nick: No, I don’t have to.

Adam: No, come on. I mean, you should be with sharon and you should be with faith. They need you more than I do.

Nick: You sure?

Adam: Mm-hmm.

Nick: All right.

[ Adam sighing ]

[ Adam sniffling ]

[ Sally sighing ]

[ Sally sobbing ]

Sally: No. Okay. Your name… is ava… hope… spectra. You’re the daughter of sally spectra and adam newman. Oh, you were the light of our lives. Oh, they said that I could hold you, but– I just have to press a button, but… I’m so afraid that you’re gonna be disappointed in me. Please don’t hate me. Oh. God, I wish I had a lifetime with you. I loved you your whole life. I know it wasn’t very long, but… there was a joy and a lightness that I never had. I finally had that slice of happiness I’d always seen in other people. And I wasn’t alone anymore. I was never gonna be alone again. Somebody to love… and loved me. Maybe you were more than I deserved.

Faith: Dad.

Sharon: Hey. How’s sally? How’s the baby? Is everything okay?

[ Nick sighing ]

Nick: The baby, um… there was a procedure. The baby didn’t make it.

Faith: Oh, my god. That can’t be what happened.

Nick: I’ll tell you all about it later, faith. Just know that sally’s okay. As okay as she could be.

Faith: I’m so sorry.

Sharon: Wow. Um, how’s adam?

Nick: Uh, struggling. Um, you know, sally’s gonna be fine. She’s got me and chloe, but adam…

Sharon: He’s got no one.

Nick: God only knows how he will deal with it.

[ Adam sighing ]

Adam: Damn. – We got this! – Great! – Bye!

[ Adam sighing ]

Victor: Sorry for your loss.

Adam: Thank you.

Victor: How’s sally?

Adam: She hates me, but she’ll be just fine. At least, that’s what they say anyway. I mean, how is a person supposed to bounce back after everything goes out of control? I mean, no matter how many prayers you say, no matter how many times that I apologize for doing something wrong, nothing changes, dad. I mean, I thought this time, it would be different. I thought, “I’m gonna be good.” This is a chance for me to do it right. A new baby. So, I’m gonna pay attention. I’m gonna do things right. I’m gonna cherish every moment. There’s something in me. I did this to her. There’s something corrupt in me, did this.

Victor: Son–

Adam: No, it has to be me. I’m the one that causes problems with connor. I mean, there’s something in my genetic makeup that just ruins things. One touch from me and it’S…

Victor: What’s her name?

Adam: Her name… it was ava.

Victor: Ava. That’s a beautiful name. Wish I’d known her.

Adam: I wish you had known her too. You guys could have… never mind.

Victor: If it helps you at all to know that I’ve gone through something like this, hm?

Adam: What did you do?

Victor: I turned away from everyone. Big mistake. What you do in moments like this is you turn to people who love you.

Adam: Who the hell would that be? I mean, I look around, I– I’m alone. There’s no sally, no siblings, no daughter. Nuh-uh. I have to get through this alone.

Victor: No, son, you don’T.

[ Nick sighing ]

Sharon: You’re, uh, welcome to the guest room.

Nick: Thanks. I should probably get home to christian, but if you’re not in a rush to go to bed…

Sharon: Stay as long as you like. Sad news about the baby.

Nick: Yeah. Real sad. I mean, you’re always looking out for everyone else.

Sharon: That’s because I’m fine.

Nick: I know what it’s like to kill a man, sharon. What you did was justified. You saved all of our lives.

Sharon: You would’ve done the same thing.

Nick: Well, that’s how I know. Until you deal with those emotions, you’re never gonna be able to move forward. What we did will haunt you and grow in size until you face it and stare it down. My a1c was up here; now, it’s down with rybelsus.

Victor: You must know that you have people in your life who have experienced, you know, big losses. I mean, they’d be–

Adam: What? What? Happy to see my life in shambles again? So what, they can smugly hold it over my head?

Victor: Son. I want you to know that I’ll always be there for you. I’ll be there for sally, I’ll be there for connor. All you have to do is ask.

Adam: All that I want is forgiveness from sally and that is not gonna happen.

Victor: Look, you can’t expect that right now. This is– this is– she’s in a very emotional–

Adam: Listen, it doesn’t matter, okay? It doesn’t matter. I appreciate you trying, but nothing matters anymore.

Sharon: You know, it may not seem like I am processing recent events, but…

Nick: It’s in your system now, sharon. You can try and process it on your own, but until you talk about it with someone in real terms– you know, it’s ugly and terrifying, but if you just try and stuff those feelings down, it’s gonna come back and screw up your life in other ways. It doesn’t just go away.

Sharon: And where did you get advice like that?

Nick: Oh, it’s uh, this good friend of mine. She told me that after I… killed the man that was hurting my sister.

Sharon: Well, she gave you very good advice.

Nick: She did. She’s real smart. You’d like her.

[ Sharon chuckling ] So, tell me what happened. You know, talk me through it.

Sharon: That animal had my daughter strapped with enough explosives to level a building and I promised her that I would do whatever it took to keep her safe and that is what I did. I killed the man who was trying to hurt my child and if it ever happened again, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Nick: And how are you doing with that?

Sharon: Honestly, nick? I feel alive. Like, activated. Like I’ve been asleep since rey died, just pouring coffee and listening to other people’s problems and now… now, I’m awake.

[ Sally sighing ]

Sally: Oh, your life was brief. But you changed me. Because of you, I smiled at the silliest things. I’d just stop in the middle of the day and smile because… I was gonna be someone’s mom. I was gonna be your mom. And I’m so sorry that we don’t get the life that I promised you, but I promise, I promise that I will always love you and I will always be your mom and I will never forget you. Oh, god. Oh, I know I have to say goodbye to you. I know, I know, I know, I know. Okay. I’m gonna do it while I hold you, okay? Okay. Okay. Okay, okay. Okay. Okay. Hello? Yes, I would… I would like to see my baby now, if that’s okay.

Chance: Sharon, step away.

Faith: Mom, I thought he was going to kill you.

Sharon: It’s okay. I’m all right, sweetheart.

Chance: He’s dead. There’s no pulse.

Nick: Thank god, he’s out of our lives forever.

Chance: Did he hurt you? Are you okay?

Sharon: I’m fine. It’s faith. He has her wired with explosives.

Faith: Help me. Please help. Get these bombs off of me!

Chance: No, don’t touch them. Don’t touch them. They could blow.

Sally: Last thing I remember, I was talking to elena and I had headache, and… I was short of breath… did I pass out?

Adam: Um, I– I need to– I need to talk to elena and your doctors, I– to get more information. To understand all of the details, but I think, right now, you just– just need to rest.

Sally: You’re scaring me. Is something wrong? Is our little girl okay?

[ Sighs ] Where is our baby?

[ Nate sighing ]

Nate: You know… we might have to cut back on some of our “corporate suite” meetings.

Victoria: And why would we do that? It’s one of my favorite perks.

[ Both laughing ]

Nate: I want to be able to give work my full attention during nick’s leave of absence.

Victoria: Oh. Well, I’d say, that’s even more reason for more after-hour sessions, right? I mean, given how closely we’ll be working together, and I’m not just gonna be discussing newman media with you, I’m gonna need you to be weighing in on all things newman.

Nate: Ooh, all newman, all the time.

[ Clicks tongue ] I like the sound of that.

[ Chuckles ]

Victoria: Unless, of course, you find me too distracting.

Nick: Sweetheart, I know. As much as I want to just rip that explosive belt off you, we have to be very, very careful. I– I feel like if i breathe too hard, it’ll go off.

Chance: You two, step away, let me take a look, okay? All right. Can you tell me how he got this on you? Do you remember?

Faith: I don’t– I don’t know. I must have been passed out. I didn’t even realize that he’d done anything until he was threatening to set it off.

Sharon: The detonator’s over there. Nobody’s touched it. Can’t we just take the belt off of her?

Chance: No, it looks like these packs are rigged with sensors, so they could detonate on the spot. Also, wireless.

Faith: What does that mean?

Chance: Well, they could be triggered from a cellular or rf transmission point. The trigger could be anywhere. It might not even be here.

Sharon: Okay, so what do we do?

Chance: Well, before we take this off, the explosives are gonna have to be carefully deactivated. One by one.

Nick: And you can do that, right?

Adam: Sally, you need– you need to rest, okay? You can’t get worked up like this. The doctor said that you still gotta to watch your– your blood pressure.

Sally: You’re hiding something. This is my body, I clearly had a c-section, I–

[ Sighs ] I don’t feel great.

Adam: Well, that’s– that’s because you– you need to rest.

Sally: No, I’m not gonna relax until I have answers. What is going on? I– I remember the pain, and I remember, it kept getting worse. And then, I clearly, passed out. So, please… just tell me what happened.

[ Adam sighing ]

Adam: Do you, um– do you remember when you were being admitted and elena said there might be a chance that they have to induce labor?

Sally: Yeah. ‘Cause of the preeclampsia?

Adam: Yes. Well, unfortunately, that happened and you lost consciousness, so they had to make a decision to do a c-section.

Sally: Okay, but the baby’s not supposed to be– supposed to be born ’til at least, 37 weeks.

Adam: Yes. It’s early.

Sally: She must be tiny.

[ Chuckles ] But that’s okay, ’cause they have really great neonatal intensive care unit, I checked.

Adam: Uh…

Sally: Okay. Okay. Um, I– I really need to be with our baby, so if she’s too little, then you can just have them bring me to her, and if not, you can…

[ Breathes deeply ] …Just take me to her.

[ Adam sniffles ] Okay, well, if you’re not going to– no, no. If you’re not going to help me–

Adam: Sally, stop, stop.

Sally: Oh, no, no, no, no.

Adam: Look at me.

Sally: No. No, no, please, just don’t–

Adam: During the c-section, there was a– there was a complication.

[ Sally breathes deeply ]

Sally: Well, that’s to be expected, right? With a pre-term birth and, you know, premature babies they– they thrive all the time and she’s strong. She’s strong. She’s got my spirit and your mother’s strength and she’s a spectra and she’s a newman and she is a warrior and she can handle anything this life… has to throws at her.

[ Sniffles ]

Adam: Not everything.

Sally: Are you telling me that our little girl… she’s not here?

Adam: She didn’t make it.

[ Sniffles ] And I am so sorry.

[ Sally sobbing ]

Nate: Is everything okay?

Victoria: Thanks. Yeah, just can’t stop thinking about nicholas. He was so excited to have faith home from school, and now, he’s got to deal with this cameron kirsten nut.

Nate: Hm. Yeah. He and sharon must be going out of their minds.

Victoria: I just hope he doesn’t do his usual thing.

Nate: What’s that?

Victoria: Try to take care of everything on his own.

[ Sighs ] He tends to fly off the handle and make things much worse.

Nate: Yeah, I heard that about him. Think he’ll do that again with this kirsten guy?

Victoria: He already has. That’s how he ended up in jail.

Nate: Right, but this guy is still causing problems. Why don’t they just call the police?

Victoria: They did. Chance, general, city police, even my father’s security team, they’re all trying to help.

Nate: Okay.

Victoria: It’s so nerve-wracking.

Nate: Well, it sounds like they have a lot of backup. And chance is well trained for situations like this. We just got to believe they’ll be able to get this guy and bring him to justice.

Victoria: I want to believe that.

Nate: Gimme that.

[ Victoria sighs ] Let me help you get through this. Whatever you need, I’m here for you.

Victoria: Thank you. I feel better already. Thank you.

Chance: When I was in the military, I had some training in disarming explosives like this.

Sharon: Hear that, faith? We couldn’t ask for a better person to do this.

[ Tools clattering ]

Chance: I’m gonna need some light, somebody’s got it?

Nick: Yeah, I got that.

Chance: Let me see this one. That’s great. Thank you. Okay, faith, I understand this is scary, but I’m going to need you to stay very still, all right? I’m going to work as fast as I can, but we’re in this together, okay?

Faith: If the bomb goes off, we both die? I trust you to keep me safe.

[ Chance sighs ]

Nick: You okay, chance?

Chance: Yeah.

Sharon: This isn’t like in spain. You didn’t have a chance to diffuse the explosive then, but you do now.

Chance: [ Sighs ] Okay, why don’t you two step back just in case?

Nick: No way, man. I have the light.

Sharon: And I have faith’s hand, and we’re not going anywhere. Type 2 diabetes? Discover the power of 3 in the ozempic tri-zone.

(Oh, oh, oh, ozempic!)

Nate: I know how to support you at work, but right now, I feel a little useless. I want you to be able to lean on me.

Victoria: You just being here, it helps. I don’t want to let my mind go to worst case scenarios.

Nate: Then don’T.

Victoria: You’re right. Until I hear something concrete from nick or my mom, I’m– I’m not going to waste any time worrying. It’s out of my hands anyway.

Nate: That is right.

[ Victoria sighs ]

Victoria: It’s not like it’s in my control at all. Cameron, he’s a wild card. There’s no telling–

Nate: Okay, stop, stop. You’re spending time worrying about something you have no control over. And I swear you just said you weren’t going to do that.

Victoria: Ah, you’re right. You’re right. It’s just that this situation is a powder keg. And nick landed in jail. He didn’t even lay a hand on cameron. My brother is a very fierce protector, but once that– that instinct is triggered, I mean, he doesn’t think rationally, he just reacts.

Nate: Okay, nick can be a loose cannon, but those situations involve nick acting alone. But this time, they brought in the authorities. Even a madman like cameron kirsten won’t stand a chance against that much protection.

Faith: How much longer?

Chance: Well, I have to cut the wire connected to the signal receiving antenna from each pack, one by one, so I know it’s tough to be patient, but you’re doing great.

Faith: So you’ve worked on this kind of bomb before?

Sharon: I’m sure chance has seen all kinds of things in his military work. Right, chance?

Chance: Yeah. Yeah, I’ve seen similar. Okay. I’m going to cut the first red wire now and what I need you to do is, don’t breathe in too deeply, okay?

Faith: Okay. So, basically, don’t breathe?

Chance: Yeah, basically.

Faith: Ready when you are.

Chance: Okay.

[ Faith gasping ] All right. Five more to go.

Sharon: Well, now that you know it’s the red one… I mean, unless–

Chance: Why? You think cameron’s devious enough to change the pattern?

Faith: I love you both so much for being here with me, but if this doesn’t work–

Sharon: It’s going to work.

Faith: I don’t want all of us to die.

Nick: That’s not going to happen.

Chance: Just gotta figure out this logic. You got the black, white, the red. The red is the obvious. The red worked.

Sharon: Chance is so smart. You know, he’s skilled, he’s very brave. He’s going to make sure that this works. He’s going to get us out of this. I know it. And I’m going to hold your hand until he does so.

Faith: Dad.

Nick: I’m not going anywhere. You never abandon your kids. I would do this for any of my children. That’s what a father does.

Sharon: And that’s what a mother does, too. And one day, you’re going to learn how that feels.

Chance: I got the red, the white and the black. Or is it red, black, white?

Sally: This can’t be true.

Adam: Sally, I am so sorry.

[ Sally sobbing ] But it’s true. She didn’t make it. Our baby’s gone.

Sally: No. But how? But how? No, we were just talking about names and imagining exactly what she’d be like. We said that she was going to be strong willed and she was going to be a fighter and how can all that be gone? How can it be over? Because I wasn’t– I wasn’t even awake for her birth. I’ve never even met her.

[ Sally sobbing ]

Adam: I know. It all seems like a bad dream. I know.

Sally: No, this isn’t real.

[ Grunting ] It’s not real. It’s not real.

Adam: This isn’t good for you I need you to take some deep breaths, okay? Your body has been through a lot and you’re not out of danger. I really need you to rest.

Sally: No! No! Everyone kept telling me to rest and it didn’t help!

[ Grunts ] It didn’t help. I just need to figure out what happened. I need to know what happened, okay? I took– no, I took all my vitamins and I took my medication, and I tr– I tried so hard to be healthy and to not get stressed out and I clearly didn’t do enough.

Adam: No, no, you– you cannot think that way, okay?

Sally: No! Why? Why did I lose consciousness? Because if I had just been awake, I could have fought more and she wouldn’t have had to do it on her own and I could have helped her and we could have survived. We could have survived together. Listen to me, stop, stop! You did nothing wrong.

Sally: Then why? Why is our little girl gone?

[ Sobbing ] Why? I have moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.

[ Nate chuckling ]

Nate: You are the strongest person I’ve ever met, but you don’t have to do this alone. Whatever happens, I’m here for you.

Victoria: Thank you. I appreciate that. I’m going to take you up on it. I know. Everything’s going to be okay.

Nate: No question.

Victoria: But this situation, it’s– it’s going to take a toll on nick. He’s going to need to spend some time with faith. I think he’s probably going to need to take some time off.

Nate: Maybe. But he might also want to keep working. So let’s just… take this a step at a time and pray for the best outcome.

Victoria: Yeah. I don’t think I’m going to sleep anytime soon, though.

Nate: Do you wanna go home?

Victoria: No. That doesn’t feel right either.

Nate: Okay, um… how about we go back downstairs for a nightcap or some tea and wait for nikki with an update?

Victoria: Yeah, I like that. I don’t want to stay cooped up here anymore.

[ Nate chuckles ] I’m really glad you’re with me, though.

Nate: Me too.

[ Sally hissing in pain ]

Adam: Or maybe the nurse can, um, give you something to help you sleep.

Sally: Can you just send nick in, please?

Adam: Nick’s not here.

Sally: You didn’t call him? Adam, I’ve had enough of your stupid competitive games. Seriously…

Adam: That’s not what happened.

Sally: Are you that selfish that you are pushing nick away when I need him most? Please, I don’t care if he’s dealing with cameron. I don’t care if he’s dealing with cameron. He deserves to know.

Adam: Okay, I’ve called him. I’ve left him voicemails. I’m not trying to shut nick out. I’ve even reached out to our father to try to get in touch with him.

Sally: And he hasn’t answered?

Adam: Not yet.

Sally: Okay, then, something must be wrong.

Adam: Look, it’s late. He probably already has his phone off.

Sally: Yeah, we both know that that is not true, okay? He would be here. He would be here if he could be.

Adam: There’s probably plenty of reasons why he didn’t get his messages. He– he could be away from his phone or– or the battery might be dead.

Sally: Or he’s just dealing with his real family.

Adam: He is taking care of the cameron kirsten situation. We know that. But once he gets the voicemail, he will be here. It’s what he does.

Sally: But what if he can’t be?

Adam: It’s not an option. He shows up when people need him and you need him now. So, I promise you that he will be here for you.

Chance: It’s black. That’s got to be it. All right. I got this.

Sharon: Oh, my god. See, we’ve got this, faith. We’re almost there. We’re almost there.

Faith: In the movies, it’s always the last wire that makes the bomb blow up, but that’s not true in real life, is it?

Chance: Movies are seldom accurate.

Faith: That’s not a no.

Chance: All right, can I get you over here with the light?

Nick: Yeah. Yeah. You know, faith, you’ve been gone at school so long, you missed some of my new material. Two guys walked into a bar, third guy ducked. Get it?

Faith: Dad.

Nick: Right, right, you’re not supposed to laugh or even move.

Faith: That’s not why I didn’t laugh.

Sharon: No one would laugh at that.

Nick: All right.

Faith: Then, tell me something real. Something I can look forward to.

Nick: All right, how about this? Sally’s baby girl is going to be here pretty soon and she’s going to look up to you even more than christian does.

Sharon: And she’s gonna get to grow up playing with baby aria.

Faith: Double the fun. I love that.

Sharon: She’s going to be a very lucky little girl because your dad loves to spoil girls more than he does boys.

Nick: Not true. I’m an equal opportunity spoiler.

Faith: You are not.

Nick: All right, that might be true. I am looking forward to spoiling her. It’s one of the greatest joys in my life.

[ Chance sighs in relief ]

Chance: Okay. It’s done.

Sharon: What?

Faith: You mean it’s over?

Chance: Right, take it easy. We’re gonna take it off of you, and dispose of this…

Sharon: Oh, my gosh.

Chance: …Very carefully.

[ Sharon sobbing ]

Sharon: Oh, my baby. You did it.

[ Both sobbing ]

Nick: You did it. You’re one brave young woman.

Faith: We did it. When migraine strikes, you’re faced with a choice.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

Chance: I can think of a lot better places for this celebration, so why don’t you get faith out? I’ll take care of everything down here.

Sharon: Are you going to arrest me?

Nick: No way. He knows it was self-defense.

Faith: She was protecting me.

Chance: I was here. I saw everything. Kirsten attacked you and you reacted out of self-defense. I would have taken him down myself, but I didn’t have clear shot. I couldn’t risk hitting you. Hey. Do not for a second question whether or not you did the right thing.

Nick: Absolutely. You didn’t just save her, you saved all of us. I can’t even imagine what would have happened if you didn’t have that knife.

Sharon: That was your idea, nick, thank god.

Nick: Well, come on, let’s get you two home. Thank you.

[ Chance sighs ]

Chance: I should leave you down here with the rats. Hey, get down here. We’ve got to lock up this crime scene. Move out a body.

Adam: I left another message.

[ Sally sighs ]

Sally: Something’s happened to nick, I know it.

Adam: Look, I know that you’re upset that nick’s not here, but we don’t have any reason to believe anything happened to him. Victor would have called.

Sally: Stop trying to tell me not to worry. You told me that everything was going to be okay with the baby and then…

Elena: Sally… I’m so sorry. My deepest sympathies for your loss.

Sally: God, “my loss.” I’ve said that so many times in my life, but now it just sounds inadequate.

Adam: Sally, you should know that elena and the doctors did everything that they could.

Elena: It’s okay. I understand that words are hardly comforting at a time like this.

Sally: I’m sorry. I really appreciate all you’ve done. I’m just–

Elena: You’re in shock and that’s to be expected. How are you feeling?

Sally: I don’t know. Just numb. I can’t really feel anything I just– nothing seems real.

Elena: Okay. Adam, would you mind stepping out of room? I want to talk to sally alone.

Adam: If it’s okay with sally. I’ll be right outside if you need anything. I’m not going anywhere.

Sally: Thank you.

Sally: You were in the delivery room?

Elena: I was.

Sally: I need to know what happened. How did this happen? Was there nothing that you could do to save my baby?

Faith: I’ve never been so relieved to be home in my life.

Sharon: Yeah, me neither.

Faith: And I’ve never been so happy to see you, grandpa.

Victor: My sweetheart, I would have been right by your side if the police had let me into that sewer entrance.

Nick: That’s what I was talking about earlier, faith. It’s what fathers do. They protect their children for the rest of their lives.

Victor: Come here. I’m so happy that everything worked out.

Sharon: I hate to think of the other ways things could have gone.

Nick: Let’s not do that, sharon. We’re all safe. That’s what matters.

Victor: You know, I’m going to call your grandmother, tell her that everything is all right. Okay? She’s worried. Okay. Okay. Be right back.

[ Nick sighs ]

Sharon: Faith, you must be exhausted. Do you want some water? Or some tea? Want something to eat? When was the last time you had a meal?

Nick: I could get a pizza delivered.

Sharon: Or we have a lot of leftovers, we can heat something up.

Faith: I know I should be hungry, but I can’t think about food right now.

Sharon: You’ve been through a trauma, so your body doesn’t know what it wants. But I know what you need. You know what? I am gonna make you some soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. No one can resist that.

Nick: Let me handle that. You two relax.

Faith: Please, can you both just sit with me for a bit? I promise that I will eat, but I think that I just need you guys to be able to be where I can see you right now.

Nick: Whatever you want.

Sharon: We’re right here and we’re not going anywhere.

Faith: I love you both so much.

Sharon: We love you, too. That’ll never change.

Faith: Mom, how are you doing? You must be freaked out with what you had to do.

Sharon: Having you here with me, being able to have you in my arms, that is all the comfort I need.

Nick: Your mom is one brave, strong woman, that’s for sure.

Nick: I think about what cameron forced me to do… choose between the two of you. That was sick and demented.

Sharon: No one should ever have to make that choice.

Nick: Well, faith is right. I am worried about you and what you had to do tonight. And what kind of milk?Uhh, oat milk. Depression is more than just sadness. My doctor told me there are multiple symptoms. I don’t enjoy the things I used to love. I feel guilty when I shouldn’T. I have low energy, trouble thinking, co

Audra: Hmm. I see you’ve come from the “corporate suite.” Burning the midnight oil? Your work ethic is impressive.

Nate: You can roll back that little attitude.

Audra: Right. Because I– I assume victoria is not too far behind you.

Nate: She’s freshening up and joining me for a nightcap. Not that it’s any of your business.

Audra: It is our business, remember?

Nate: Right. I have some news to report on that front. The personal issues nick’s facing.

Audra: You mean the reason he may have to take a leave of absence?

Nate: It turns out the situation is dangerous.

Nate: This stalker from sharon’s past is in town. He’s out of prison and has been terrorizing nick’s family.

Audra: Oh, my god.

Nate: And victoria is determined to make him take some time off, even if everybody gets through this crisis okay.

Audra: But what if that’s not what he wants to do?

Nate: I don’t think she’s going to give him a choice.

Audra: Well, that puts you in a strange position.

Nate: How so?

Audra: Well, it was one thing when nick was stepping aside because she was worried his arrest was going to be bad press, but now, I imagine you must feel some conflict, maybe remorse? You know, getting your big chance because of nick’s troubles.

[ Elena sighing ]

Elena: Sally, I am so sorry this happened. I have seen it way too many times and I can’t begin to imagine how overwhelmed you must feel right now.

Sally: I just feel like there’s an anvil sitting on my chest. Like there’s this hole that could never be filled.

Elena: I want to be honest with you.

[ Sally exhales ] What you’re feeling right now is probably going to intensify before it gets better. You might feel like you’re on an emotional rollercoaster and that’s because the grief you’re feeling is exacerbated by what you’re going through physically. Right now, your hormones are plummeting. It could take weeks or months to start feeling like yourself again. So, I want you to give yourself grace, okay? And I want you to accept all of the support that you can. Now, I know you must have a million questions for me. And most of them, there will be no good answers for.

Sally: I just have one question. What did I do wrong?

Elena: You didn’t do anything wrong. This was not your fault.

Sally: How can it not be, though? I’m her mom. I had one job. I was supposed to nurture her until she came into this world and I failed.

Elena: Sally, I understand telling you not to feel this way isn’t very useful right now, but I really do wish I could take that feeling away.

Sally: If I had been awake in the delivery room, could I have saved her?

Elena: No. There was nothing you could have done differently. And your medical team, we did everything that we could. This was a high risk situation and the complications put both you and the baby in danger. That’s why there was no time to reach out to the next of kin. And adam had to make choice in the event it came to that.

Sally: What– what do you mean a choice? Adam– what?

Elena: If we were only able to save one of you, adam had to decide. You or the baby.

Sally: Adam had a choice?

[ Adam sighing ]

Sharon: I’m fine. I promise. The only person I’m worried about right now is faith. You’ve been through trauma and you’re going to need someone to talk to so you can process it. Tomorrow morning, we’re going to make some calls.

Faith: I can’t think about that right now. I’m exhausted. I just want to lie down.

[ Door clicks open ]

Victor: Faith, my darling, your grandmother is obviously very concerned, wanted to be here, but I told her you all need some rest, so she sends her love.

Sharon: Thank you, victor. Right now, I am going to take faith upstairs into her big, warm, safe bed and I might just join her there.

Nick: I’ll bring up a snack.

Faith: Thank you both.

Victor: Come here, sweetheart. Okay. You go up with mummy, okay?

[ Nick sighing ] Boy, boy, boy.

Nick: This is not how I saw this ending with kirsten at all, but at least he can’t terrorize us anymore.

Victor: I am just happy that sharon got rid of that son of a bitch.

Nick: Yeah, I’m just worried how she’s going to handle this once the shock wears off. Knowing what she had to do in the sewer, seeing his lifeless body, I know what it takes to grapple with killing someone and I just hope chance remembers that and that’s how he files his report. I’d hate to see her dragged through any court process.

Victor: You know that we’ll be here for anything she needs. I’m going to come back up to the ranch to talk to your mother. She’s worried, obviously. Very worried. You’re going to stay here or what?

Nick: Yeah. I just got to make sure everything’s settled so they feel safe and secure.

Victor: I’m gonna make sure that extra security will be around the house. If you need anything, let me know, right?

Nick: Yeah, thanks, dad, for everything. I know tonight was hard on everyone.

Victor: Yeah, my boy. By the way, before I forget, adam tried to reach you. He’s very concerned. He wants to talk to you, all right?

Nick: Yeah, I’ll call him. Thanks, dad.

Victor: Okay.

Nick: Give mom a hug for me.

Victor: I’ll sure do that.

[ Adam clearing his throat ]

[ Phone ringing ]

Adam: Where the hell have you been? I’ve been trying to reach you all night.

Nick: It’s a long story. I’ll fill you in later.

Adam: How’s faith and sharon?

Nick: Everyone’s safe. Cameron’s been taken care of. The threat’s gone.

Adam: Well, that is a relief.

Nick: Please tell me you didn’t tell sally what was going on with faith. I didn’t want to add any more stress for her.

Adam: I kept it to myself.

Nick: All right. So, what’s going on? Why’d you call?

Nate: I’ll admit, I don’t love the circumstances. Nick is helping his family through a crisis and I feel for him. He and I have always been friends until lately. He’s decided I’m too power hungry for the newman family business.

Audra: Well, if victoria forces him to leave and installs you in his place, that’s not going to help. Have you thought about how to handle it?

Nate: First things first. Let’s hope everyone’s okay. That’s what’s important.

Audra: Yes, but what about what comes after that? If victoria gets her way, which she usually does, you’re going to have to deal with nick.

Nate: If victoria needs me to step up, I’m here for that. So that means I need you to step up as well. So, I hope you’re not having any qualms. Is that what’s behind all these questions about my moral code?

Audra: No. Just making sure you’re not having second thoughts. You know I’m ready. You can count on me at a moment’s notice.

Nick: Okay. Good. I appreciate you, audra.

Adam: Have you listened to your voicemails yet?

Nick: I haven’t had a chance, adam. I just saw all your missed calls. What’s going on? Is sally all right?

Adam: Sally is okay. Um, but there’s been a– a development. We should really talk in person. I know it’s late, can you– can you get away now?

Nick: [ Sighs ] Man, I– I hate leaving sharon and faith right now. They’re really shook up. Are you with sally right now at the suite?

Adam: I’m– I’m with sally, um, we’re at the hospital.

Nick: The hospital?

Adam: Yes, she, uh, wasn’t feeling well so I brought her in.

Sharon: Nick, is it sally? You should go to her. We’ll– we’ll be fine.

Nick: All right. I’m on the way. I’ll get there as fast as I can.

Adam: How is she?

Elena: This isn’t going to be easy. Losing a baby is one of the hardest things I’ve seen in this job. But what about you? How are you doing? You lost a baby, too.

Adam: And I just, um… it just doesn’t seem real.

Elena: Yeah. It happened so fast and you had to make a really tough decision right in the moment.

Adam: Yes, when you asked me, it was something I never imagined having to do.

Elena: Well, if there’s anything you need, you let me know. And if there’s any questions I can answer to help you navigate this, just tell me. I’m here for both of you.

Adam: Thank you. Hey, sally. I just– I just talked to nick. Everything’s fine. And he’s going to be here soon, just like I said he would, but I’m going to sit here just in case you need anything.

Sally: How could you do this? How could you let our baby die?

Sharon talks to Nick about what happened with Cameron that she can get it out and not keep it inside herself. S Cameron to protect Faith has made her feel alive for the first time since Rey died.

Adam and Sally are shattered by the death of baby Ava. Sally is angry with Adam because he didn’t choose to save Ava instead of her. Adam is heartbroken because he has lost Sally and baby Ava since he knows Sally will never forgive him.

Nick tells Adam he made the right decision and offers his sympathy and a hug to Adam. Elena also tells Adam to be gentle with himself because he also lost the baby.. Victor also tries to comfort Adam and advises him not to shut out the people who love him. Adam tells Victor nobody loves him and nothing matters anymore.

Sally sobs as she looks at a picture of her baby and apologizes to her for letting her down by not fighting for her. Sally promises baby Ava she will always be her mother. Sally calls the nurse and asks the nurse to take her to see her baby so she can hold her and say goodbye.

Sally is wracked with pain and fears for her unborn baby. Adam rushes her to the hospital. Once there, she loses consciousness.  When she wakes up, Sally can tell she’s had a C section and insists Adam tell her if their baby girl is OK.  He lets her know there was a complication and the baby did not survive.

Sally is completely inconsolable, crying that she did everything the doctor advised. She believes if she had been awake, she could have helped the baby survive. Adam promises Sally that she did nothing wrong to cause the baby to pass away, and there was nothing she could have done to save the baby, but she pushes him away when he tries to comfort her. 

Sally wants Nick to be with her, but Adam tells her he called Nick, left a voicemail and even contacted Victor to reach Nick. Adam reassures Sally that Nick would be there with Sally if he could. Sally knows there must be something wrong – otherwise Nick would absolutely be there. Adam tells her that once Nick is done dealing with Cameron, that he will be with Sally.

Elena asks to speak to Sally alone, so Adam leaves the room. Sally asks if there was anything Elena could have done to save the baby.  Elena tells her no. She cautions Sally that her raw, searingly painful emotions are going to get worse before they get better and urges Sally to accept whatever help she is offered.  

Sally asks how could it not be her fault when it was her job to protect the baby and she failed. Elena reassures Sally that there was nothing she could have done differently to save the baby and the complication put both Sally and the baby in danger. Elena informed Sally that because the complications were so immense, that if it came down to a choice, either she lives or the baby lives. That choice had to be made, and Elena said that there was no time to call next of kin, so Adam had to decide. When Adam returns to Sally’s side, she asks Adam how he could let their baby die. 

Meanwhile, down in the sewer, where Cameron took Faith, the teen reveals that Cameron strapped a bomb to her body. Fortunately, Chance had training to disarm bombs and successfully disarms it. Cameron lay dead just feet away, after Sharon stabbed him to death in defense of Faith. Sharon asks Chance if she would face murder charges. He said no because it’s self defense.  Nick, Sharon and Faith leave Chance to process the crime scene and arrange for Cameron’s body to be removed. Once at home, the three decompress, Victor stops by to thank Sharon for saving his granddaughter.

Sally: Um, my head is killing me and I’m nauseous and I have double vision.

Adam: And, uh, don’t forget about your breath, your oxygen intake.

Sally: Yeah. I’m having trouble catching my breath.

Elena: And has your ob-gyn put you on an anti-hypertensive protocol for preeclampsia?

Sally: Yes. And she told me to take it easy.

[ Sally groaning in pain ]

Adam: Sally. Sally.

[ Sally groaning in pain ]

Elena: Just breathe. Deep breaths. I told cameron to go to hell. What if he hurts faith or worse?

Nick: We’re not gonna let that happen, all right? We gotta stay positive.

Elena: It’s an anticonvulsive medication to help lower your blood pressure.

Sally: Is it safe for the baby?

Elena: Yes, it’s safe for both you and the baby, but there is something else.

Sally: What?

Elena: We’re concerned about the severity of your symptoms. They could indicate the possibility of hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes or a low platelet count. And all of these things can be life-threatening to both you and the baby. So with that said, there is a chance that we may have to induce labor. So I didn’t think I needed swiffer.

Sally: It’s way too early for labor. The baby isn’t ready.

Elena: Sally, this is our most viable option. The longer we wait, the higher the risk for you and the baby.

Adam: Whatever the doctor says.

Elena: Adam, can you please excuse us? I’m gonna give sally a quick exam.

Sally: Can you please just call nick and tell him that I’m here and ask him to come?

Adam: I will call him. Just focus on taking care of yourself and our little girl.

Sally: Okay. God, you had no idea what you were getting yourself into when you told him you’d look out for me.

Adam: He didn’t need to ask, sally. I would’ve been here right by your side no matter what.

Adam: Just trying to be a good co-parent.

Cameron: Really? I take your gag out and those are the first words outta your mouth? How about thank you?

Faith: Then stop it. You can stop this.

Cameron: I didn’t start it! Nick newman did. Daddy. All because I adore a woman that he’s not man enough to love the way she needs to be. And again, I guess the course to true love was never smooth. I mean, think about it. There’s really only one bump in the road to– to– to sharon and I being together and that’s nick. Nick’s really the only one who needs to die. And then… I could be your dad. And I can love you and your mom and make you happy for the rest of your life. Here, come here. Okay. Come on. Come on. Come on. Drink, drink, drink, drink. Okay, there you go. Adam: Nick, look, I know you have your hands full, but, um, you need to know sally’s in the hospital. It’s serious. Um, her doctor is– is on the way, so she wanted me to call you. So call me, let me know that you got this and tell me when you’re on your way.

[ Adam sighing ] Just… let them be okay. They don’t deserve this. Do what you want with me, but just leave them alone.

[ Phone ringing ]

Victor: Son, what’s going on?

Adam: Have you spoken to nick? I’ve been trying to get in touch with him.

Victor: He’s dealing with that slime ball cameron kirsten. Why are you looking for him?

Adam: Look, if you talk to him, tell him to give me a call. I don’t care how late it is.

Victor: Wait a minute, son. Is there something wrong with sally and the baby?

Adam: I gotta go.

Elena: Adam.

Adam: How’s sally?

Elena: Situation’s taken a turn.

Adam: What does that mean?

Elena: Sally is unconscious.

Adam: What! What happened?

Elena: The medication isn’t working. Her blood pressure’s too high and she’s at an extreme risk for placental abruption. That is when the placenta separates itself from the inner wall of the uterus. It can be fatal to both her and the baby.

Adam: Fatal?

Elena: Adam, there is no easy way to say this, but if we are to save the baby, we need to take her now. But there is a chance that we could lose sally during the procedure. So I need you to make a choice. Do we save the baby or do we save the mother?

Cameron: You little bitch!

Faith: Is that my mother’s?

Cameron: Faith, you are trying my patience.

Faith: And you’re crazy.

Cameron: What did you say to me? What did you say to me? Don’t you ever say that again. You understand me?

Faith: What is it you expect to get from this? Why are you doing it?

Cameron: It’s destiny, fate, kismet. It doesn’t happen like it does in a book or a movie. Where– where– where it all just comes together in one some kind of a big, big cosmic event. In real life, you’ve gotta– you’ve gotta grab it and you hold it. And the more hopeless it becomes, the harder you work. All I’m doing here is I’m manifesting my destiny and sharon’s because she has forgotten what we mean to each other. Nick, nick got in her head and he turned her against me. And now I need to remind her of how much she loves me.

Faith: I know the men that my mother has loved. You are not one of them. You never will be. If you love her, why are you trying to take her away from her happiness? The life that she has.

Cameron: What life? She slings coffee to a bunch of losers. She needs love. The kind of love that only I can give her. The kind of love she begged for.

Faith: You beat her.

Cameron: Faith, you need to shut up.

Faith: It’s the truth! You’re a monster!

Cameron: Little girl, I’m warning you. Shut your mouth or I will–

Faith: Or what? You’ll hit me?

[ Rustling ]

Cameron: Sounds like showtime.

Faith: Mom, dad, don’t come any closer! It’s a trap! Please run! B-dubs’ sweet chile lime sauce has 3 perfect ingredients.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

Adam: What? You want me to choose between sally and our baby? I can’t make that decision.

Elena: I understand how difficult this choice is. This is where we are.

Adam: Come on. There– there has to be something that you can do. I mean, can’t you– you– you delay the c-section? You could stabilize sally and– and our baby.

Elena: I wish that were the case, but the baby is in distress. And if the placenta removes itself from the uterus, sally could hemorrhage and bleed to death.

Adam: And you want me to decide this right now? Right now, who lives and who dies? No, I can’t do that, okay?

Elena: I am so sorry, but time is of the essence.

[ Adam exhaling ]

Adam: Can I have a few minutes with sally, please? Please.

Elena: Two minutes.

[ Adam sighing ]

Adam: You know, I still remember the first time that I knew for sure that you were gonna turn my life upside down in the best way possible.

[ Adam exhaling ] How do I do this, sally? I’m the guy that screws up everything. Like when I broke up with you for your own good. How stupid was that? God, I’m the last guy that should be making life or death decisions. I need you to wake up.

[ Adam sniffling ] Come on, I need you– I need you to wake up and do that bossy thing that you do. And tell me how to handle this. I know what you would want.

Elena: Adam, it’s time. We have to move sally to the or. Have you made a decision? Adam, if you’re not able to make this call, the doctors will.

Adam: Wait!

Victor: Nick? Sharon?

Nikki: My god, what happened here?

Victor: I just got a call from adam. He was rather distraught. He was looking for nicholas and couldn’t get an answer. So, I came by to see if there’s a problem. Obviously, there is.

Nikki: Why was he trying to get ahold of nicholas?

Victor: I bet you it has to do with sally and the baby.

Nikki: Well, the fact that nicholas didn’t respond is concerning.

Victor: And that has to do with cameron kirsten, I bet you. I bet you, okay?

Nikki: Look at this place. What on earth? This. Oh, my god. Victor.

Victor: Son, as soon as you get this message, call me back. I wanna know where the hell you are.

Sharon: Oh, my god. Faith!

Faith: Mom, be careful. Cameron was just here. He’s gotta be close.

Sharon: Or he ran like the coward that he is. Let’s get you out of here. Are you okay? Did he hurt you? Did he touch you in any way?

Faith: I’m okay. But he’s next level insane.

Sharon: Oh, gosh. I’m so sorry about this.

Faith: He kept talking about how much he loved you. How dad ruined his chances to be with you.

Sharon: There was no chance of anything. He’s a complete psychopath. He is. He always was. Damn it!

Faith: We’ve gotta get outta here, mom. I think he knew that you were coming. He must have set up a trap. He was working on something over there.

Sharon: Okay, done. Go! Let’s get you out.

Nick: Oh, thank god.

Faith: Dad!

Cameron: Not so fast, sweetie. You didn’t live this strong, this long to get put

Adam: How is sally? Is she okay?

Elena: It was touch and go, but we got through the worst of it. I was able to stabilize her.

Adam: And, uh, our baby?

Elena: Adam… there was no way to save them both. I’m so sorry.

Victor: Why wasn’t I informed when nicholas and sharon left the premises?

Guard: They went with the rescue team and detective chancellor. With the police involved I didn’t think it was necessary.

Victor: You answer to me. You don’t answer to my son. You don’t answer to the damn cops! You keep me apprised.

Guard: I’m sorry.

Victor: Get the hell out of here. You’re fired! Now!

Nikki: Victor, it’s the sewer system. He’s taken them down there again. No, no, no, no, no, no. Where are you going?

Victor: To look for my son and my granddaughter.

Nikki: Victor, please don’T. It’s too dangerous.

Victor: It’s my family, sweetheart.

Nikki: Victor!

[ Door closes ] Oh, my god.

Faith: Mom!

Nick: Let her go.

Cameron: Nah, we’re good. Ain’t that right, baby? So nick, does this make you feel uncomfortable seeing her in my arms like this? ‘Cause feels pretty good from here. Just like old times. Isn’t that right?

Nick: You bastard.

Cameron: Ah! Don’t move.

Nick: Let her go!

Cameron: Or what? What are you gonna do? You can’t punch me. You– you can’t throw me out of an airplane. You know that’s your problem, nick. You think a fist solves everything.

Sharon: Cameron, please, we can resolve this, okay?

Cameron: Really? Really? Cheek to perfect cheek and you’re gonna try and shrink me? You’re gonna talk me down? What do you think? I’m stupid? Let me tell you something, I’m in control here. Not you and not him! Me!

Faith: Don’t hurt her.

Cameron: Love hurts, faith. That is just a sad fact of life. One that your father is about to truly understand.

Nick: You know I’m the one you wanna hurt. You let sharon and faith go and then you and I solve this right here, man to man.

Cameron: Oh, man to man. Like you even know what that means. You know, buddy, I’m tired of this conversation. You got a choice to make, nick.

Cameron: A simple one. You’re gonna choose who lives and who dies. Faith or sharon. And if you can’t make a decision, you lose both.

Nick: Faith is free. She can just leave. Dad’s security team there are a couple hundred yards down this tunnel. You go to them. Chance and the police have the other exit blocked off. Go now. Go!

Cameron: Hey, hey, hey, hey, not so fast. Hey, nick, take a peek under her sweatshirt. You’ll find something interesting. Surprise. So here’s how this is gonna work. I’m gonna blow faith into pieces or I’m gonna slit sharon’s throat and we can watch her bleed out. It’s your call. My a1c was up here; now, it’s down with rybelsus.

Sally: You’re here.

Adam: Hey, I told you I wasn’t going anywhere.

Sally: Thank you.

Adam: Oh, you had me worried. I even prayed. Well, sort of, but it’s, um, it’s gonna be okay, sally.

Sally: The baby… how is she?

Cameron: Sharon or faith? What’s it gonna be?

Nick: You son of a bitch!

Cameron: Yeah, I am a son of a bitch. But so are you. You took everything from me. My life, my freedom, the woman I love and you lost nothing. You just kept living your life. The golden little rich boy. Well, guess what? I’m tired of losing, nick. It’s your turn. You got 30 seconds and I swear to god I’ll kill them both.

Nick: You hurt either one of them and I promise you, you will not leave this room alive.

Cameron: Oh, come on, man. You don’t think I know how this ends? I’m not walking outta here. But I swear, I am gonna destroy your life before I go. Say a name, nick. Come on, boy. The clock is ticking. Say a name! Say a name or I swear to god I will kill them both! Five, four–

[ Groaning ] God! You bitch!

Chance: Get on the ground! Cameron, get your hands up and on the ground!

Cameron: Sharon.

[ Groaning ] Ow.

[ Chuckling ] How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

[ Groaning ]

Announcer: Next week on the young and the restless.

Billy: That’s from traci? “Calling a family meeting. No excuses.” You get the same thing?

Ashley: Yeah. What happened?

Adam: Do you need the doctor?

Sally: [ Sobbing ] No! I want her! I want her, adam. But you let her die. You’re the reason that she’s dead.

Chance: Well, before we take this off, the explosives are gonna have to be carefully deactivated one by one.

Elena tells Adam that Sally’s blood pressure is too high, and Sally is in danger of placental abruption which means the placenta separates from the body and both Sally and the baby Elena tells Adam he must choose if they save Sally and the baby in surgery. Adam then makes the agonizing choice, but the viewers don’t know what he told Elena to do. Elena later tells Adam Sally is okay, but they couldn’t save the baby. Sally awakens and asks Adam if the baby is okay.

Chance brings over Cameron’s suitcase to Sharon’s house to see if Sharon and Nick could help him find clues to where Cameron is holding Faith. Sharon finds a false bottom in the suitcase with plans to the Genoa City sewer system. Chance figures out where Cameron is and he, Sharon, and Nick go rescue Faith. Sharon arrives at the sewer, unties Faith, and tries to run with Faith and Nick but Cameron stops them and grabs Sharon. Cameron holds a knife to Sharon’s throat and gives Nick five seconds to choose if Sharon or Faith dies. Nick tells Faith to run but Cameron tells Nick that Faith has a bomb strapped under her sweatshirt. Cameron tells Nick to choose and starts counting backwards from five. Sharon bites Cameron, pushes him away from her, and stabs him with the knife she had taped to her leg as Nick, Chance, and Faith watch Cameron fall to the floor.

Victoria: I stood my ground with my family and I told them that nick is dealing with too much to focus on work right now. Between sally’s pregnancy and the situation with cameron, I mean there’s no way that he can give his job the attention that it needs. And they said–

Nate: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let me stop you right there. Are you sure you should share what they said with me?

Victoria: I am in charge of what happens at newman enterprises. And besides, this directly involves you, since you’re the one that I hope to lean on.

Billy: Can I grab an earl grey to go, and one of those brownies, please? Thank you.

[ Phone ringing ]

Adam: Hey.

Chelsea: Hey. I’m sorry to call so late. Is this a bad time?

Adam: I’m with sally and she’s sleeping, finally. What’s going on?

Chelsea: I’m not sure. Um, there’s nothing we can do about it tonight, but tomorrow I think we should find someone professional for connor to talk to.

Adam: I thought that he’d improved.

Chelsea: Well, so did I, but lately, I don’t know, he’s been so moody and distant and I’m worried about him. I’d feel a lot better if we could get him some outside help.

Adam: Absolutely. I’ll call you in the morning and we’ll get him the best child psychologist in the state.

Chelsea: Great. Thank you. And I hope everything’s okay with sally.

Adam: Me too.

[ Chelsea sighing ]

Billy: Some earl grey for you and a little something for connor.

Chelsea: You’re the best. But you know, you can take off. There’s no reason for connor to ignore both of us. I can face this rejection on my own.

[ Chelsea sighing ]

Sally: Was that nick?

Adam: No, it was chelsea, calling about connor.

Sally: Is something wrong?

Adam: It’s– it’s nothing for you to worry about. Did I wake you? I was– I was trying to keep my voice down.

Sally: No, no, it’s not you. I’m just too freaked out about nick. I can’t sleep. I– I– I have to get out of this room.

Adam: You’re not going anywhere. get in here?

Cameron: I knew nick would have the whole place surrounded with daddy’s security, so I found a workaround.

Sharon: I was on my way to meet you at the motel like you’d asked.

Cameron: I saved you a trip.

Sharon: Where is faith?

Cameron: You know, this is the first time we’ve been alone in a very long time. I mean without your ex-husband barging in. You’re as beautiful as the day we met. Time hasn’t touched you. Me, on the other hand, I might be a little harder to recognize. I’m– I’m going for recently incarcerated, but still ruggedly handsome.

Sharon: I would recognize you anywhere.

Cameron: Well, I’ll take that as a compliment. I’ve thought about you more than you can imagine. You actually became a part of me. Always with me, here. Just like I’m a part of you.

Sharon: Tell me where faith is.

Cameron: She’s fine, for now. What happens next… that’s up to you. When it comes to your hair, ingredients matter.

Sally: Okay, you can’t keep me here. I’m starving and I need something to eat.

Adam: Okay, well it’s late. What are you in the mood for? And don’t say a burger and fries with hot sauce, okay, because that can’t be doctor recommended. I’ll run out. I’ll get you something healthy. Or you know what, better yet, I’m gonna order you something. I’m gonna have it delivered.

Sally: Look, I’m tired of room service, okay? I’m not on bed rest. The doctor just said I need to take it easy. I can still go out and eat something.

Adam: Okay, be honest. This isn’t about just being hungry.

Sally: I know nick told you something about whatever this guy cameron is trying to pull. That is why you’re watching me like a hawk. Admit it.

Adam: Yes, he asked me to look out for you, but I already do that. So, I’m glad to get his stamp of approval so he won’t barge in here and accuse me of anything.

Sally: Okay, you’re dodging the cameron question, which is making me even more nervous.

Adam: Look, nick, told us that cameron was causing trouble. And he did, he got nick arrested for assault and battery. He already called and told us this. This isn’t news.

Sally: Okay, but this is not what I’m talking about. Something else happened, I know it. That is why nick asked to talk to you. He would not have asked if it wasn’t bad.

Adam: Sally, he was just worried about you, okay? We’re still brothers and we’re both concerned about you and the baby. And if he was to call me again, I would give him my honest opinion: You’re hangry. So, you better tell me what you want to eat or order it yourself because it can’t be healthy to get riled up like this.

Sally: Okay, you know what?

Adam: I’m supposed to be keeping you calm, sally.

Sally: Stop treating me like a child, okay? I’m going out, with or without you.

Adam: Sally.

Sally: You can’t stop me!

Adam: Fine, but you might want to put your shoes on.

Sally: Please. Just tell me if there’s something that I need to know about nick because I cannot stand not knowing and it is making me think the worst.

Sharon: What do you want, cameron? You have my daughter. You’ve sent chance and nick and victor’s security team all over town. Clearly, that was to get me alone. So, here we are. What are you really after?

Cameron: I want the same thing I’ve always wanted, you.

Sharon: Well, here I am. You have my full attention. Let’s talk.

Cameron: Ah, I kinda want a little more than a conversation, sharon.

Sharon: Tell me what it will take then to get faith back.

Cameron: It’s simple. Leave with me tonight, agree to spend the rest of your life with me and faith comes home.

Sharon: You remember the last time that you insisted that we run off together? That didn’t end well.

Cameron: A little worse for me than it did for you, but don’t worry, I don’t blame you for that. I know it wasn’t your fault. Nah, I blame nick. I blame nick, 100%. He just had to stick his nose into our business. But, thankfully, he’s not here tonight. It’s just us. And I know you’ll make the right choice this time. And I know you’ll mean it.

Sharon: You seem so confident. What makes you think that I would do that?

Cameron: Because I wouldn’t feel this connection unless something in you felt it too.

Sharon: Okay, let’s say that that’s true, that we are feeling each other’s feelings, then you would know that you have put me in an impossible situation. You have my daughter. That picture you sent me, you would know that that terrifies me. I can’t be free to think about us unless I know that she’s okay.

Cameron: You need to trust me. I would never hurt your daughter unless I had to.

Sharon: As much as I want to trust you, I cannot consider your request unless I see for myself that faith is all right.

Cameron: You know what? Stop it. I know what you’re doing. I know you’re a therapist now. So, you’re gonna try to get inside my head, you’re gonna try to figure out what I’m thinking and then you’re gonna try to manipulate those thoughts. First of all, good luck with that. Secondly, you wanna know what I’m thinking? Don’t look here, look here. Look into my heart.

Sharon: Why don’t you look into my heart? And you will see that it is full of love and concern for my daughter. It is too full to focus on you.

Cameron: You know what? That’s a load of crap. I may not have a fancy degree, but I know you better than you know yourself. So, how about I tell you what I see when I look into your heart? I see a woman who has resigned herself to being alone. Because every man she has ever known has let her down. Nick, jack, adam, rey. They all let you down and none of them ever loved you the way that I do. Even after you rejected me, landed me in jail, I still wanted you more than anything that I’ve ever wanted in my life. And 20 years in prison didn’t change that. That’s how pure my love is. I tried to let you go, but no other woman was you.

Sharon: I heard about one of those women. You beat her, didn’t you? Just like you beat me. Abuse isn’t love. Hitting someone isn’t love.

Cameron: I don’t know. Maybe… I think I feel things more deeply than other people do and then I act accordingly.

Sharon: How can kidnapping my daughter be love?

Cameron: It was a wake-up call, sharon! Taking faith is the only way I knew to get your attention. To make you realize that deep down you inside, you feel our connection too. And you know what? No amount of shrink talk is ever gonna make me think that we don’t belong together. Because this, this is real and this is unstoppable.

Nate: I’m honored that you’d want to lean on me.

Victoria: Why do you sound surprised?

Nate: Well, you do have nikki and victor is clearly never out of the picture.

Victoria: But it’s you that I want. We’ve been working so well together. You just have this fresh energy and this passion.

Nate: I’m glad you think so. So, is nick definitely taking a leave of absence? Because your parents sounded like they were against it.

Victoria: No, they understand that nick has too much on his plate right now. That he needs to step back while this crisis is dealt with. They just don’t want to call it an official leave of absence, but that’s what it will be. And my mom and I are gonna have to take over nick’s responsibilities, so I’m gonna need you to back me up. Unless… if you’re not up for it, then–

Nate: Of course I am. I’m here to support you however you need.

Victoria: That’s why I know you’re gonna do great. Because you’re ambitious. I know you’re gonna put in the hard work and you’re gonna reap the benefits. You’re exactly what newman needs. What I need.

Nate: That’s all true, but you forgot to mention that I would support you because I respect and admire you. And I care about you. My attraction to you is as mental and emotional as it is physical. I hope you know that.

Victoria: Well, let’s just say, it’s unlikely that audra and I are gonna become best friends any time soon. I’m fine with that. She needs to have her full focus on newman media, especially because adam has delusions of coming after his old company using mccall.

Nate: I’ve been thinking about that. I think we should be proactive.

Victoria: I couldn’t agree with you more.

Nate: Instead of waiting to play defense against a mccall attack…

Victoria: We make sure that mccall never gets strong enough for adam to make that move in the first place.

Adam: Are you trying to blackmail me into taking you out?

Sally: I am not above it.

Adam: Look, I swear I have nothing to tell you about nick.

Sally: Look, the whole reason that nick asked for you to watch out for me is so that I do not get stressed out, but keeping me cooped up in here is totally stressing me out.

Adam: I am doing what’s best for you and the baby. You’re not going to win this argument.

Sally: Please. Okay, nick is out there protecting sharon and faith from some psycho and you are the one who told me that he has a bad temper and he reacts with his fists. So, if you really want me to relax, you will let me out of here so I don’t have to think about that. I will sleep for ten hours if you do.

Adam: You– you– you’re impossible.

Sally: You’re not gonna win this.

[ Adam sighing ]

Adam: Twelve hours and you don’t leave my sight.

Sally: Eleven. And you’re buying dinner. Excuse me.

Adam: Where do you think you’re going?

Sally: Now what?

Adam: I don’t care what you say. You’re not going out without these.

Chelsea: Connor, what are you doing here?

Connor: I wanted to see you.

Chelsea: Oh, well we just came down to grab some tea.

Billy: Got you a little something special in there too.

Chelsea: Why didn’t you text me? I would have come back up.

Connor: I’m not a helpless little kid.

Chelsea: I know. I know that. I just, um… are you okay?

[ Connor sighing ]

Connor: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to get angry like that. I just wanted to say, I hope you’re not mad at me for shutting myself in my room.

Chelsea: I’m not mad. I’m glad you came to find me. Come here.

Cameron: I will give you everything you’ve ever wanted. I still have more than enough money stashed away for us to live the rest of our lives in luxury. You– you– you want a tropical island? A ranch in montana? The south of france? You name it.

Sharon: I have everything I want, right here. This– this is my home.

Cameron: Oh, please. You expect me to believe that you’re satisfied slinging coffee and pastries for genoa city’s brain dead elite? Having to listen to their never-ending problems?

Sharon: Well, it doesn’t matter if you believe it or not. It’s true.

Cameron: You’re better than that. You know it and I know it. You come with me, you will never have to make another mocha latte or listen to some sad sack drone on about their– their unresolved trauma.

Sharon: I’m listening to you right now, aren’t I? Trying to figure out what brought you to this point? Why you think we have a future?

Cameron: You brought me here. Our connection brought me here. Why can’t you accept that? Sharon, my sole purpose in life right now is to make you happy and I will never ever let you down the way that nick has over and over again.

Sharon: Nick has nothing to do with this.

Cameron: Ah, come on. I– I– I think the therapist might need a little bit of therapy. Now, I know it’s hard for you to trust a man after you’ve been let down so many times, but honey, nick is the problem. He’s the reason for your unhappiness.

Sharon: If you really care about me, then prove to me that faith is okay!

Cameron: Okay, you know what? I am tired of talking about other people. First, it was nick, then it’s faith. There’s only two people here that I want to talk about and that’s you and me. And if those other people are too distracting, then trust me, I will remove the distraction. – You like that bone?

Nate: So, you want to hear my thoughts on mccall?

Victoria: Right now, that’s all I want.

Nate: Well, I’ve been looking at the company and I think we should go after their biggest weaknesses first. I’ve made a list of the divisions I think we can take a run at.

Victoria: Yeah, that all looks great. I think we should put audra on that. It will give her a set of targets to keep her hungry mind busy. But uh, you missed their biggest achilles heel.

Nate: Really? I thought my analysis was thorough.

Victoria: Of the divisions, sure, but adam is their weakest link.

Nate: Right, right, adam. And I’m sure you have the inside track on getting the upper hand there.

Sally: I want every dish on here, but all I can hear is my doctor warning me about my blood pressure or nick reminding me about heartburn.

Adam: Well, I’m sure we can find something acceptable. I mean, how about a caesar salad with chicken?

Sally: I can’t have the dressing, raw eggs.

Adam: Really? I did not know that. Then, a house salad.

[ Sally sighing ]

Sally: That sounds boring, so it’s probably fine.

Adam: No texts or calls from nick?

Sally: No, and I’m dying to call him, but I know that I can’t bother him on whatever secret mission he’s on, so I guess tonight is all me about wanting things that I can’t have. Do you know how much that stinks?

Adam: I have some idea, yes. Look, I’m sure that we can find something appetizing for both you and the baby. So, let’s figure it out. What is she craving?

Sally: Anything with hot sauce.

Adam: Well, what does that say about her? Other than the fact she’s like her mother.

Sally: This little girl is spicy and we should be terrified of her.

Adam: Well, I’m not easily scared. But as long as she has the best of you and my mother, she will be perfect.

Sally: I wish you would stop doing that.

Adam: Doing what?

Sally: Implying that she becomes nothing like you. Look, I want her to inherit the best of her entire family tree and that includes you and me, and hope and my great aunt sally and my gramps and coco and nick and victoria and maybe even victor.

Adam: Nah.

Sally: No.

Adam: No.

Sharon: Threatening my daughter’s life, how is that love? You prove to me that you care about me. Take me to faith.

Cameron: That is enough! Sharon, I am telling you. You just stop– just stop pushing me. How dare you? How dare you treat me like this when I’m standing in front of you opening a vein!

Sharon: Nick and chance will be here any minute. Victor’s security team is crawling all over this property. There’s no way out for you.

Cameron: Nick’s not coming. I called him from upstairs just after he left. I told him he had 20 minutes to get to where faith was if he wanted to save her. So, I wouldn’t expect him to show up any time soon to rescue you. I think he understood the urgency.

Sharon: What if he doesn’t get there in time?

Cameron: Well, let’s hope he doesn’t let you down again. Now, as for your other threats, I think we both know they’re empty. Right now, chance is going through that garage, and half of victor’s team is probably on their way to stake out the motel and the other half is with nick.

Sharon: And that suitcase? You left that in your hotel room for us to find then? You knew that we would and we’d find the deed to that abandoned garage and we would assume that faith was there.

Cameron: I was worried it was a little too obvious, but anyway, obvious or not, chance would have to follow that lead, so it was a win-win strategy.

Sharon: And the message for me to meet you in the motel room?

Cameron: I knew that chance or nick would insist on going with you with the backup. So, they’d have to leave early to get it all set up.

Sharon: Leaving me alone in the house. You’ve had this in the works for a long time.

Cameron: Months. So, you said I was trapped, but the truth is, there’s no way out of this for you.

Sharon: I’ll do whatever you want, cameron. I’ll do whatever you want. Just please let faith go. Let faith go. That’s me before dawn powerwash.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue. And we’re done.

Elena: Well, isn’t this cozy?

Nate: Hello, elena.

Elena: I guess at least you’re not keeping it a secret anymore.

Nate: I hope you don’t plan on making a scene like you did in L.A.

Elena: Right. Because it was my fault things turned ugly.

Nate: Look, if you want to talk to me, in private–

Elena: I don’T. But that scene in L.A. That you were talking about, that was back when I was naive enough to love you, trust you and even respect you. I guess I learned that lesson the hard way. You know, I always thought you were intelligent, but here you are falling for two users in a row. First, ashland, and now his best man.

Victoria: I don’t see the similarity.

Elena: Yeah, I guess that is your blind spot. But I can see it clearly. They are both happy to be with you as long as they get what they want, but once they don’t, you better watch out.

Connor: I know that I’ve been a jerk to you too. And johnny. I’m sorry.

Billy: Connor, you don’t have to worry about that, okay? I understand and johnny understands. You’ve got a lot on your plate right now. Sometimes, we get overwhelmed and we get a short fuse. It happens to the best of us.

Chelsea: No one is angry with you. We’re just worried. Do you understand the difference?

Connor: Yeah.

Chelsea: Okay. So can you talk to us? Can you tell us what’s going on?

Billy: Does this mood have anything to do with the baby? Yeah.

Connor: I’m sorry about how I’ve been acting, but you don’t have to worry about me anymore. I’m getting used to the idea that dad and sally are having a baby, that I’ll have a sister.

Chelsea: Well honey, it’s a lot to deal with. I mean, these are some grownup feelings you’re having. But the good thing is you don’t have to go through it alone.

Connor: I know, I’ve got you.

Chelsea: Of course you do, but not just me. You know, there might be times that you might want to vent about me or vent about your dad and that’s okay. You’re allowed to do that. So, your dad and I are thinking, maybe it’s time for you to talk to a therapist like I do. So we can find you somebody tomorrow, a professional to talk to.

Connor: No. I don’t need to talk to anyone else. I just need you.

Chelsea: Oh.

[ Chelsea exhaling ] Sweetheart.

Adam: Hey, I wanted to ask you, have you given any more thought to baby names?

Sally: Yeah, only every waking minute.

Adam: Well, not to overstep, but I was wondering if you might consider the name hope.

Sally: That would mean a lot to you, wouldn’t it?

Adam: It would. But no pressure. And you know, not a first name. Maybe a middle name?

Sally: It’s beautiful. And I think we should absolutely add it to the list. But I don’t really wanna choose just yet. I don’t know, call it superstition, but would you mind if maybe we waited to have this discussion closer to the due date?

Adam: Mm-hmm. Sure. But it’s going to sneak up on us faster than we know.

Sally: I know and I… I’m terrified.

Adam: What– what part?

Sally: All of it.

Adam: You know, I really wish that I could convince you that you are going to be a wonderful mother. This kid is blessed. Even with nick in the picture.

Sally: Very funny.

[ Sally grunting ]

Adam: What– what is it? What is it?

Sally: Oh, I don’t know.

[ Sally panting ]

Cameron: I’ll let faith go as soon as we’re far away from genoa city.

Sharon: Okay, you win, cameron. I’ll go with you. Because I need my daughter to be safe. But you– you have to promise me that she will be okay.

Cameron: And you have to trust me. I would never hurt your child.

Sharon: All right then. Where are we going?

Cameron: It’s a surprise.

Sharon: How about a hint so that I know what to pack?

Cameron: And ruin the fun? You don’t have to pack anything. We’re starting over. I’ll buy you all new things.

Nick: She’s not going anywhere with you. You get your hands off her!

Sharon: Nick!

[ Nick grunting ] Nick! Nick!

[ Punches thudding ] Even when I was with the people I love,

Sharon: Nick, stop! Stop it! He’s not worth it! I’ll just do what he says. Just get off of him.

Nick: Just go and get help.

[ Cameron shouting ]

Cameron: Get up. Get up.

[ Both grunting ]

Sharon: Help! Security! We need help! Help! Nick.

Cameron: We need to go.

Sharon: You go to hell.

Cameron: I warned you. I have your child. I have your child, sharon!

Sharon: Nick! Oh, my gosh, nick. Are you okay? Are you okay? Come, wake up.

Nick: We get him?

Sharon: Cameron got away, he said he has faith.

Nick: What?

Sharon: He’s got, faith. He says he’s got faith.

Nick: Where– where’d he go?

Sharon: He’s upstairs.

Nick: Okay.

Nate: Elena, please–

Victoria: Nate, uh, I can handle this. Look, I don’t want to argue, I really don’T. You’re saying hurtful things because you’ve been hurt, but trust me, in time, the pain will fade and then maybe you won’t feel the need to verbally assault people in public.

[ Elena chuckling ]

Elena: Whoa. I think you’ve been a newman princess for far too long if you think that was an assault. Those were just facts.

Nate: Don’t do this.

Elena: Good for you, nate. Finally protecting something. You know, I’m glad the two of you are together because I can already see the future. You are gonna use each other up and then burn each other down to the ground. It’s gonna really be fun to watch. Enjoy your evening.

Connor: Thanks for the brownie.

Billy: You are very welcome.

Chelsea: The way he devoured that, you’d think I didn’t feed this kid dinner.

Connor: I’m ready to go to bed now.

Billy: Bed? Geez, I should’ve gotten you something with a little less sugar.

Connor: It won’t keep me up.

Chelsea: That’s true actually. I saw him eat a whole bag of halloween candy once and he went straight to bed. Okay, come on. I’ll go up with you.

Connor: I can go myself. And yes, I’ll brush and floss.

Billy: Impressive. Do me a favor. Talk to johnny about that oral hygiene thing. He just fights me on it every night.

Connor: Sure. If you want, but I doubt hell listen to me. Goodnight. Love you.

Chelsea: I love you. Why am I more worried now than ever?

Adam: Let’s get you to the hospital, okay? Do you think that you can walk?

Sally: Oh, I don’t know.

Adam: Come, come, come.

[ Sally panting ]

Sally: What? Oh, what’s happening?

Adam: It’s okay, all right. We’ve got this. We’re gonna get help and everything is gonna be okay. I promise. Come on.

Sally: Okay.

[ Sally grunting ]

Adam: Come on. It’s okay.

Nick: Cameron got away.

Sharon: What? How is that possible? He ran upstairs. I’ve been down here the whole time. He didn’t get past me.

Nick: It’s crazy, it’s like he disappeared, but then I figured it out. The bastard made a hole in the closet of noah’s old room.

Sharon: What?

Nick: It’s how he got in, sharon. He came in through the walls.

Sharon: He was covered in dirt when he got here. Oh, my god.

Nick: He must have tunneled under the house. That’s how he evaded ranch security. It’s how he came in and poisoned the cat and placed the bug and got you alone.

Sharon: And now he got away. Oh, my gosh, he could be anywhere right now.

Nick: I know. We’re gonna find him.

Sharon: You didn’t see the look on his face. He knows that I despise him. He knows that his perfect plan didn’t work and he said that he has faith. He’s headed to her right now. We have got to stop him!

Nate: I’m sorry for elena’s behavior. It was out of line and frankly, not like her.

Victoria: Don’t apologize, okay? I– I meant what I said. I get it, elena’s hurt.

Nate: It doesn’t mean she has to treat you like that. It’s me she hates.

Victoria: I don’t take it personally, I don’T. I mean, she thought that the two of you had something real and now she knows that that’s not true. I’ve been through that. It’s– it’s like a punch in the gut.

Nate: It’s my fault. I should’ve broken things off earlier.

Victoria: Well, just think of it this way. Now, she’s free to find the right person.

Nate: I hope so. I do wish that for her. Because I know what that feels like now. I’m exactly where I want to be.

Adam: Elena! Thank god. Can you uh– can you help us?

Elena: Hey. What’s going on?

Adam: Uh, we were at society when her pain came on. It was sudden.

Elena: Okay, sally what are your symptoms?

Sally: I just have a headache and this pain in my right side.

Elena: Okay, have you ever felt that before?

Sally: No, just my headaches.

Adam: And her– her O.B. Said that she was at risk for preeclampsia and ordered her to rest.

Elena: Okay. Let’s get you to have a seat and we’re gonna get you admitted okay?

Sally: Oh, god! Oh, what is happening? I’m afraid it’s my– oh, it’s my baby. Please help me.

Elena: Okay, I’m gonna go get a triage nurse. Excuse me.

Sharon: He has faith, nick. He has our baby.

Nick: We’re gonna get her back, all right? It’s gonna be okay. We’ll get her home safe and sound.

Sharon: He… he… he wants to meet me at the motel. Same room. Midnight.

Nick: That is not happening. I will go in your place.

Sharon: He wants me alone. I have to go, nick. It’s the only way.

Nick: Why would I ever allow you to go and meet up with him on your own?

Sharon: Because this.

Lily: Hey. What’s going on?

Daniel: Oh, nothing. Just sitting here trying to enjoy an adult beverage and contemplating life’s mysteries.

Lily: Okay, well you sounded really upset on the phone. Is everything okay? Is it– is it phyllis?

Daniel: It’s always phyllis.

Lily: What happened? I mean, I knew you were afraid that she was gonna get arrested. Did she get arrested?

Daniel: No. Not yet. But I am afraid that the next time I see my mom or my sister, they’ll both be behind bars.

Summer: Oh. I thought I heard kyle come in.

Diane: No, just me.

Summer: Uh, well, I’m sure that he’s already told you, but I… I want you to hear it from me too. It’s– it’s true. I’ve known that my mom is alive for… a while now, so. Go ahead. Let me have it. I know that you want to.

Diane: I’ve already forgiven you.

Kyle: All of the times that you ran off without an explanation, and lame ones at best, you were going to see phyllis, weren’t you? When were you going to tell me what you’ve been hiding? What the hell, summer? You lied about something that directly affected all of our lives for months. How could you do that? You could have cleared my mother’s name and set her free. You could have gotten her out of that god awful place, but instead, you decided to sit back and do nothing!

Summer: Kyle, you gotta believe me. I was trying to figure out how to keep both of our moms out of prison. I only kept quiet to buy time. To bring my mom home safely. That’s it.

Kyle: No, I am sorry, summer. I can’t accept your justifications. You were only thinking about you and your mother.

Summer: No, I was– I was trying to do what was right for everyone.

Kyle: No, stop, stop, stop. You have to own up to your actions here. You weren’t just sitting back and watching my mother suffer. You watched me suffer.

Summer: I was suffering lying to you, kyle. It was torture for me.

Kyle: No, and you were so damn good at it. You lied repeatedly to my face!

Audra: Is that seat taken? Want to get him involved.

Nick: I’m gonna go this motel and rip cameron apart with my bare hands.

Sharon: Nick, we need to think this through. This is cameron. You know how careful we need to be.

Nick: This psychopath has kidnapped our daughter. She is bound and gagged and probably terrified out of her mind. I need to go and pound him into the ground until he gives us our daughter back alive and well!

Sharon: You cannot go charging over there like a bull in a china shop! You might put faith in more danger!

[ Door knocking ]

Victor: Sharon, this is victor.

Nick: You’re right. I’m not going to go alone. I’ll get dad’s security team to back me up.

Sharon: I thought you didn’t want to get him involved.

Nick: We need all the help we can get. Dad, I’m glad you’re here.

Victor: What happened?

Nick: I need your help.

Victor: With what?

Nick: Cameron has faith.

Victor: What?

Nick: Let me see the phone.

Victor: How did this happen? With all the security I provided, how did this happen?

Nick: We’ll worry about that later. Right now, we need to focus on getting faith back. Will your security team provide me with some backup?

Victor: Of course. I’ll get you an army to get her back. How the hell did this happen?

Sharon: Okay, stop it, the both of you. You cannot go storming over there all fired up for battle. That could be the most dangerous thing you would do. Do– you read his message. I need to be the one to go. I have got to be the one to face cameron. Alone. Gala.

Kyle:

Audra: Kyle, right? Audra charles. We met at the gala.

Kyle: Uh, yeah. You’re the one who found my phone. Thanks again.

Audra: Yeah, I wasn’t sure if you’d remember, considering everything.

Kyle: Seems like a lifetime ago.

Audra: Yeah, I can imagine your memories of that night are pretty difficult given what happened to your wife’s mother, or should I say, didn’t happen. Rumors of her demise were greatly exaggerated. I guess it depends on what rumors you want to believe.

Kyle: Mm. Well, I would normally advise you not to believe any rumors, but… in this case, they might all be true.

[ Nick sighing ]

Audra: So, phyllis summers faked the whole thing and is actually alive?

Kyle: I’m sorry, audra. You seem very nice, but I’m not in the business of discussing my personal life with total strangers.

Audra: Oh. I get it. Though, in my experience, sometimes it’s a total stranger you most need to talk to. Their perspective is so much clearer. It’s not prejudiced with preconceived notions about a person or a situation. It’s no judgement. It’s kind of like with bartenders, you know? People will tell them everything because they’re just there to innocently listen.

Kyle: Well, that’s very kind of you, but I think I’m just gonna–

Audra: I promise I’m a very good listener.

Summer: Uh, maybe you haven’t heard the whole story.

Diane: Are you trying to talk me out of forgiving you?

Summer: No. I just think that once you know everything, you might regret your decision.

Diane: Why don’t you tell me the whole story? What is it that you think I don’t know about yet?

Summer: Look, I know that keeping this secret has really hurt kyle and you, of course. I could have gotten the charges against you dropped way sooner, but I didn’T. Instead, I ch– chose to protect my mom at your expense.

Diane: I’m well aware of that.

Summer: And what? You’re– you’re okay with what I did?

Diane: No. No, no, no. No. You let me sit in jail with my life hanging in the balance over utterly false charges. I am not okay with that. But, I do understand why you did it.

Summer: You do.

Diane: Yes. I realize that you were put into an impossible situation with no easy solution. Trust me, summer. I’m not playing games here. This is how I feel and I’ll even take it a step further. I’m going to do everything in my power to convince kyle to forgive you too.

Summer: You would do that? After everything that has happened? Wow. Thanks, diane.

Diane: Oh, no thanks necessary. I really– I really can’t stand to see you and kyle torn apart over this, and god knows you shouldn’t be blamed for something that was clearly not your fault.

Summer: It’s all my fault. I’m responsible.

Diane: Well, yes, but we all know that phyllis manipulated you into keeping you quiet. I mean, it was her psychotic plan that caused all this trouble in the first place, so if anyone is to blame–

Summer: Okay, hold on, diane. Please, please, do not turn this into an attack against my mom.

Nick: There’s no way I’m letting you face this bastard on your own.

Victor: Sharon, think about it for a moment. This is too dangerous. He may be setting a trap for you.

Sharon: I don’t doubt that it is a trap.

Nick: Wait, you realize that, but you’re still willing to walk right into his web?

Sharon: He has faith and we have no idea where. It terrifies me to think what he might do to her. He might have somebody else watching her, just waiting for a word to do her harm and I know that he’s thought this through. Every angle. He’ll have taken precaution.

Nick: Then we do the same.

Sharon: He’s methodical in his madness and we cannot take that risk with faith’s life.

Nick: Still, I just– I cannot fathom the idea of you being alone with him.

Victor: I agree with nicholas, but if you do– I think it’s an insane idea, but if you do, you’ve got to arm yourself.

Sharon: That could be the trigger that sets him off. We have to got to be careful not to push him to go to a more dangerous place. He’s already delusional enough to think that I might fall in love with him. Nick, isn’t that what he said to you?

Nick: Yeah, and I actually think that he believed it.

Sharon: All right. If that’s the case, and he is that delusional to think that we could be together and we have some future together, cameron is not planning on hurting me, but that wouldn’t be true of anybody else who goes after him… which means that I am the only one who has the power to control the situation.

Lily: Thank you.

Daniel: Honestly, I don’t know what to do. Summer’s desperate to keep mom out of prison and she’s willing to go to any lengths necessary.

Lily: Well, it sounds like summer. And your mom.

Daniel: Right? The problem is, summer wants me to help her do it.

Lily: Do what? Try and keep your mom out of prison? I mean, you can’t turn back time. What’s done is done.

Daniel: Exactly. Meanwhile, mom wants me to do whatever it takes to keep summer out of it.

Lily: Well, how are you supposed to do that?

Daniel: I don’t know. I don’t know. Maybe she’ll finally do the right thing.

[ Lily chuckling ]

Lily: Well, why would she start now?

Daniel: It’s a good point. Especially if it means turning herself in. I can’t see that happening. In fact, it’s the opposite.

Lily: What do you mean?

Daniel: Mom is on the run again. So, even if I wanted to turn her in, I can’t now.

[ Lily sighing ]

Lily: Daniel, I’m really sorry you’re stuck in the middle of this.

Daniel: Hm.

Lily: But to be honest with you, as someone who’s actually been to prison, it might not hurt for phyllis to do some time.

Diane: Summer, I’m not attacking phyllis. I just think it’s clear who’s to blame for the nightmare we’ve all been going through.

Summer: I agree. It is clear. This was all a part of stark’s master plan. He’s the one who started all of this trouble to begin with.

Diane: Well, I guess, technically, that’s true.

Summer: You know what? If you wanna go all the way back to try to place blame, how did we even hear stark’s name in the first place? I think it was you that brought him into our lives, diane.

Diane: Oh, wait a minute. I’m not the one who invited him to town.

Summer: But you’re the one who had history with him. You’re the one that burned him. Everything is unintended consequences.

Diane: Unintended consequences? Summer. Summer, we’re getting way off track here. Yes, this plan was the work of jeremy stark, but he could not have faked phyllis’ death without her full participation and it is naive to think that your mother is somehow innocent in all of this.

Summer: No, my mom didn’t do any of this on her own. She was coerced and threatened and maybe even blackmailed into doing what she did.

Diane: Is that what phyllis is telling you? That she was blackmailed into that performance at the gala?

Summer: Diane, you were the one who brought stark to town and maybe you didn’t commit murder, but you’re not innocent and I’m not ever gonna let myself forget that.

[ Diane sighing ]

Nick: All right, sharon. All right. If you insist with on meeting with cameron alone, you’re gonna take some precautions.

Sharon: Like what?

Nick: First, you’re gonna go in there with some backup and that includes me.

Sharon: He said to come alone, nick. Cameron said.

Nick: No. We will keep our distance so we don’t alert cameron. Your team can manage that, right, dad?

Victor: One second. I just found the number of a special ops guy whose specialty is rescue missions.

Nick: All right. Set it up. Let’s go.

Victor: I’ll call him right now.

Nick: Thanks, dad.

Victor: Sharon… thank you. You’re risking your life to save my granddaughter. I’ll never forget it.

Nick: Takes a lot of courage to do what you’re doing. I still hate this plan, but cameron is crazy. He’s already in your head, he’s got our daughter’s life in his hands. He knows where you’re most vulnerable.

Sharon: Of course I’m vulnerable where my child is concerned. I’m so afraid for her right now, I could scream. I know first hand what cameron is capable of. It’s taken everything inside of me not to fall apart. And the thought of facing him again? Makes me sick to my stomach, but I don’t have time for that, nick.

[ Sniffling ] Our baby doesn’t have time.

Audra: Something like tha

Audra: Thank you.

Kyle: So… you wanna be my bartender, audra?

Audra: Something like that.

Kyle: Well, I have simone over there, who is an actual bartender and she makes the perfect old fashioned and I have to say, she’s probably a much more innocent listener than you are.

Audra: Oh. What are you getting at, hm?

Kyle: I’m just a little weary. I don’t know what you’re really after.

Audra: You don’t think it’s possible that I’m just a sounding board? Someone you can talk to who won’t judge?

Kyle: Hm. I get the feeling I should keep my guard up around you. From what I’ve heard, you have ambitions.

Audra: Oh, wow, kyle. Some people say that my ambitions are my best quality.

Kyle: Well, that may be, but I don’t know if I can confide in an ultra achiever like yourself. I’ve heard you’ll do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Audra: Hm. You heard things about me? I’m flattered. But you’re right. I do consider myself an achiever. I’ve successfully made a mark for myself wherever I’ve gone.

Kyle: Including with my brother-in-law, noah newman.

Audra: Brother-in-law.

Kyle: Hm.

Audra: Right. Uh… that’s all in the past now. You know, he’s moved on and found happiness and I moved on as well.

Kyle: But have you found happiness?

Audra: Have you? Hm. You look like you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders.

Kyle: How about this? I finish my drink and you talk while I listen?

Audra: I’m game. What do you want me to talk about? Look, I am well versed in a variety of topics. Some important and weighty, and some just downright ridiculous.

[ Kyle laughing ]

Kyle: Well, how about you tell me more about yourself?

Audra: Okay.

Kyle: How did you end up here in genoa city?

Audra: Since you asked, um, I came here working for tucker mccall until I zigged to a brief stint with chancellor-winters. And then, I zagged to newman media where I found my true self working with nate hastings. I think I found my home there.

Kyle: So, ultra achiever, where do you go from newman media?

Audra: Well, I’m happy where I’m at, but I’ll see what opportunities present themselves. Ambition is not a dirty word to me, kyle.

[ Kyle chuckling ] In fact, you know, I think, um, some people are afraid of their own desires. It’s like… they’re ashamed to admit how badly they want something.

Kyle: Are you sure we’re still talking about jobs?

Audra: Mm. You tell me.

Mariah: Thank you so much. Hi, summer. You know, I was actually hoping to run into you. I was wondering if you got the bouquet that tessa and I sent? The flowers for phyllis’ memorial?

Summer: Yeah. They were beautiful, thanks.

Mariah: So, what do you do now? Now, do you just send all those flowers back to people? Because it was all a big lie? Or… what happens?

Summer: Mariah, I really just wanted to get some chamomile tea without all the attitude, so if I could just do that, please.

Mariah: Oh, yeah. No, I can’t see that happening, but you can take this with your chamomile. What in the hell were you thinking?

Summer: I’m not in the mood for this right now.

Mariah: You know, I’ve never had an especially high opinion of you, but even I was surprised that you could keep phyllis’ secret, knowing how deeply it would affect diane and kyle.

Summer: You know what? What would you have done if sharon was the one that needed protecting? Especially after you went the trauma of thinking that you lost her forever? Yeah, it’s really easy to judge when you haven’t been through it yourself.

Mariah: I suppose if sharon had been the one that I thought I lost forever, then yes, I would do anything to keep her safe and close.

Summer: Okay. Exactly. That’s– that’s exactly what I did. I’m glad that you see my point of view.

Mariah: I– I can see it, but I still do not agree with what you did.

Summer: Can I ask you a question? And depending on the answer, I might ask you a favor.

Nick: We are going to get faith back. I promise you that. She’s gonna be fine.

Sharon: I know she will. She has to be. Nothing will happen to her and we’ll have her home in no time, right?

[ Door knocking ]

Nick: Who’s there?

Chance: Chance. Hey.

Nick: Hey.

Chance: What’s wrong? Did something happen?

Sharon: It’s faith.

Nick: Cameron has her.

Sharon: He’s demanding that I meet him at the motel we met at years ago and to come alone.

[ Chance exhaling ]

Chance: Okay. Thank you for not keeping this from me. You guys can’t handle this on your own.

Nick: We have to find her.

Sharon: Our poor baby. She must be terrified. Please tell me you can help us find her.

Chance: I did find something at the athletic club. Kirsten left behind a satchel with some papers inside of it, one of which was a deed to some property on the outskirts of town.

Nick: What kind of property?

Chance: It’s an old, abandoned garage off birchwood.

Sharon: And he owns the building?

Chance: According to the deed.

Nick: Which means that he has had this plan in the works for quite a while. And that property is very close to the motel where he wants to meet up with sharon.

Sharon: So, what do you think? Is that where he’s keeping faith?

Daniel: So, you think

Daniel: So, you think my mother should go to jail?

Lily: I just think that it might benefit phyllis to have some time alone to face the consequences of her actions and realize how much she’s hurt the people she loves.

Daniel: You’ve seen the inside of a cell, but she could be looking at decades.

Lily: I know. I know that my experience was short, but it changed my life. It gave me a completely different perspective on things.

Daniel: Yeah, lily, but prison. I mean, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, much less my own mother.

Lily: I know, I know. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying it’s amazing, right? Like, obviously it’s hard. I mean, there were days that I wasn’t sure I was gonna make it through, but I did and I came out a better person for it.

Daniel: You were kind of an okay person before that.

Lily: Look. I know that my experience is the exception to the rule, okay? I know that not everyone comes out of prison saying, you know, “oh, that was amazing. I learned so much.” But I did. And you know what? It might be good for phyllis to get a different perspective on things. To see women who are facing struggles much harder than she is, right? Far harder than “I’m living in a town with somebody that I hate.”

[ Daniel sighing ]

Mariah: So, you wanna ask me for a favor. What kind?

Summer: Uh, I assume that kyle has vented to you about how upset he is with me.

Mariah: Mm-hmm. For the record, he was far more gracious than I would’ve been were I in his shoes.

Summer: That’s nice to hear that he’s not publicly trashing me, but I know that privately, he is livid.

Mariah: Are you about to ask me what I think?

Summer: I’m not gonna speculate what goes on in your head.

Mariah: I hope you’re not expecting me to take phyllis’ side in all of this because actually, I encouraged kyle to go to the police with everything that he knows, so.

Summer: No, I don’t– I don’t expect that. I just want to know if… if you’re on my side, mine and kyle’s as a couple.

Mariah: Ooh.

Summer: Mariah, do you still believe all of those loving and supportive things that you said at our vow renewal? Do you believe that we belong together?

Mariah: I see where you’re going with this. You want me to convince kyle to forgive you. Are you serious, summer? I mean, you’ve– you’ve gotta be kidding me. Are you willing to take accountability for any of your actions? That’s actually incredible impressive.

[ Summer exhaling ]

Summer: This was a mistake. I should not have tried to talk to you. Obviously, you’re never gonna see me any differently than how you always have.

Kyle: Thanks, audra.

Audra: For what? I don’t remember doing anything.

Kyle: For giving me something else to think about other than my own problems for a little while.

Audra: You certainly pulled a fast one. I have to admire that.

Kyle: How so?

Audra: Well, you got me talking about myself when I was trying to get you to do the same. Maybe next time.

Kyle: Maybe.

Audra: But, if I was able to cheer you up, even a little bit, I’ll consider the night a success.

Kyle: Well, then. Congratulations. Have a good rest of your night.

Audra: And you do the same.

Sharon: Right there. There’s a pile of tires. That’s where she is. He’s keeping her there. It’s the garage on birchwood.

Nick: Where’d you say you found that bag at cameron’s?

Chance: In his room, behind the sofa. Why? What are you thinking?

Nick: It’s too convenient. It’s too easy.

Sharon: Another trap?

Nick: It’s possible, but somebody does need to go to check this place out, just in case faith is there.

Chance: I’m on it. I’ll take a small team with me. You two need to stay put, okay? Do not go to that motel. It’s too dangerous and you don’t know what he has waiting in there for you. I sent that picture to myself. I’ll let you know what I find.

Sharon: Thanks, chance.

Nick: Yes. We appreciate everything we’re doing to find our girl.

Sharon: What if she’s not there?

Nick: And if you don’t show up like cameron demanded?

Sharon: We can’t take the chance that something happens to our daughter.

Nick: I agree.

Sharon: Are you thinking what I’m thinking?

Nick: Oh, we’re going to that motel. To be this uny

Mariah: No. No, no, no. No, you’re not– you’re not gonna do that to me, okay? You’re not gonna turn this around on me and paint me to be this unyielding and stubborn person who doesn’t cut people a break. That’s not me.

Summer: Come on, mariah. You’ve been stubborn and unyielding since the day I met you.

Mariah: Summer, I will be the first person to admit that you have matured in a lot of ways. For one, you and kyle, you were both so happy before all of this. And for another, I really admire what an amazing mother you are to harrison.

Summer: Thanks for that.

Mariah: But as much as you’ve grown up, you’re still your mother’s daughter. You still have that same streak of selfish recklessness and I’m sorry, but I don’t know that you’re ever gonna be able to convince me that you are good enough for kyle.

Summer: Wow. You know, you really shouldn’t agree to officiate a vow renewal if you truly despite the bride that much.

Mariah: No, no, I didn’t say that. I don’t despise you, summer, and I was truly hoping that your marriage would work out.

Summer: What are you saying? That it’s not gonna work out? That my marriage is over?

Mariah: Summer, oh… my goodness. You really need to take a very hard look at what you have done. You have deceived kyle. You chose your mother over everyone else. You left his mother sitting in a jail cell. You’ve hurt them both so much.

[ Summer sighing ]

Summer: I guess I can forget that favor.

Mariah: Yeah, but I will– I will give you a different one.

Summer: What’s that?

Mariah: Advice. Just give kyle the time that he needs. After what you did, it is going to take a lot to earn his forgiveness, as it should be. And I don’t know if you will ever be able to earn his trust again. And you would have no one to blame for that but yourself.

[ Mariah sighing ]

Nick: We should head to the motel. If chance calls and says they have faith, then we’ll come right back home. But if not? We stick to our original plan. We go. Dad’s security team and I will be right behind you. Then, we go in there and we take cameron out and we bring our daughter home alive.

Sharon: We have to do this. We have no other choice, right?

Nick: No, we don’t, but I want you to take one more precaution. If you’re gonna face cameron alone, I don’t want you to go in there completely unarmed.

Summer: Hi. You’re home.

Nick: All right. This’ll work.

Sharon: A knife? Nick, I can’t meet cameron wielding that in my hand.

Nick: That’s why we’re gonna keep it hidden and tape it to your leg.

Sharon: My leg?

Nick: Yes, sharon. You need something to defend yourself with.

Sharon: You’re right. I guess I do need something in case he snaps and loses it again.

Nick: It’s not gonna come to that, all right? This is just a precaution. It’s a last resort. My dad’s security team and i will be there. He’s not gonna lay a finger on you. Have a seat. Now, hold that right there. All right. How’s that feel?

Sharon: FinE.

Nick: It’s not too uncomfortable?

Sharon: No, it’s fine. I’m prepared to do whatever it takes to get our baby back.

Daniel: I appreciate your opinion on the situation and with all due respect, I have taken everything you’ve said to heart, but whatever does happen, I really hope it doesn’t come down to prison for my mom or my sister.

Lily: Yeah, no, you’re… you’re right. You’re right. I mean, honestly, I– I actually hope so too. I just– maybe… maybe I was just rationalizing in case it does come to that.

Daniel: Mm. Sure. And if it does, you can always point back to this conversation and say, “ah, remember. There are advantages to being a prisoner.”

Lily: I’m really sorry.

Daniel: Don’t apologize. It’s actually kind of thoughtful, in a perverse sort of way.

Lily: Oh, god.

[ Daniel sighing heavily ] Is there anything I can do to help? Honestly, just name it.

Daniel: No. No. I’m at a loss trying to figure out what I can even do. It just feels like the whole situation is spiraling out of control. Today, I went to my brother-in-law to try and convince him to not to give up on summer, but even kyle wouldn’t listen to me, you know. Just… the whole situation just seems uncertain. For all of us.

Summer: You– you should’ve seen harrison tonight. He was so cute. I was reading him bumpy the camel and he kept on stopping me so that he could read it to me. He’s heard that story so many times, he knows it by heart.

Kyle: Sorry I missed that.

Summer: You know, that kind of memorization, it’s the first step to reading, so we should guide him in that direction. I could buy him so beginner reading books.

Kyle: That’s a good idea.

Summer: Kyle, I’ve been thinking a lot and I have a lot of things I wanna say. Could we talk now?

[ Kyle sighing ]

Kyle: Not tonight.

Nick: I believe in you.

Sharon: And I believe that you will be my back up and make sure that nothing happens.

Nick: Absolutely.

Sharon: Okay, I have to think about how I’m gonna handle him. Maybe I could just get him to tell me where faith is, but if he seems tense or angry, I’m just gonna remain calm and strong and try not to get emotional.

Nick: All right. I’m gonna run up to the main house and talk to dad and the security team. Just make sure they know they have to do everything as discreetly as possible. We’ll leave from the back service exit. Meet me behind the house in ten minutes.

[ Sharon sighing ]

Cameron: Hi, sharon.

[ Sharon gasping ]

Cameron: Everybody’s gone. It’s just you and me.

Victoria tells Nate she needs his help while Nick takes a leave of absence. Elena interrupts their lunch and tells Victoria that Nate is going to use her just like Ashland used her.

Connor apologizes to Billy and Chelsea for the way he has been acting lately. Connor doesn’t want to go talk to a therapist. He tells Chelsea he just needs her.

Cameron asks Sharon to go away with him and he will bring Faith home. Sharon is about to leave with Cameron when Nick arrives and he and Cameron punch each other for a few minutes while Sharon screams for help. Cameron knocks Nick to the floor and reminds Sharon he has Faith. Nick comes to and follows Cameron upstairs. Nick comes back downstairs and tells Sharon he saw that Cameron got away through a hole he made in the closet of Noah’s old room.

Sally and Adam are eating at Society when she starts having cramps. Adam takes her to the hospital where she tells Elena her symptoms when she has another cramp.

Although there’s no official police statement that Faith has been kidnapped, a hysterical and horrified Sharon knows it in her heart. Chance, who is guarding Sharon, tries to give her some hope, but a colleague calls Chance with the news that Faith was not on the flight back to college. Sharon is completely devastated at the thought of Cameron having Faith and is unaware that Nick’s been arrested.

Nikki and Victor, who also don’t know about the kidnapping, talk about how to deal with Cameron, and also how to deal with Nate. Victoria’s idea of Nick taking a leave of absence because he’s in jail is unacceptable to Victor and Nikki. Nikki asks Victoria if she would give Nick’s job to Nate. Victoria says that if Nick left the company permanently, she would consider giving the Chief Operating Office job to Nate. Later, Victor witnesses Nate and Audra scheming about how Nick’s leave of absence could be an opening that Nate could take advantage of; Audra could then take Nate’s job at Newman media, which is her current goal. Nate and Audra raise their glasses to the plan while Victor looks on.

A furious Nick regretfully acknowledges to Micheal that the police arresting him is Cameron’s plan to get him out of the way so that Cameron can get to Sharon. Micheal says that Cameron anticipated Nick’s fury and used it against him when he stormed into Cameron’s hotel room and punched the wall. Michael reassures an imprisoned Nick that Sharon and Faith are safe, with so many people protecting them.

Phyllis contacts Summer and adamantly forbids her from doing anything else to get Phyllis back to town. She also urges Daniel to protect Summer. Summer informs Michael about her plan to get Phyllis back to town. Michael vehemently disagrees, but later acknowledges that the EMT could be a critical part of the puzzle. He thinks it’s a long shot to find him and get him to co-operate but that Summer should not act on her own. Summer appeals to Grandpa Victor to help her. Victor is hesitant, but agrees after Summer puts on her best pleading puppy dog eyes that he can’t refuse.

Kyle gets drunk at the jazz lounge and meets Aura. He gets her to tell him why she came to Genoa City and also all the places she has worked. Aura asks Kyle about himself but he doesn’t tell her anything. He just thanks her for helping him forget about his problems for a little while.

Summer and Diane argue because Diane thinks Summer was a victim of the plan that Jeremy and Phyllis worked on together. Summer thinks Jeremy forced Phyllis to help him with his plan.

Summer asks Mariah to persuade Kyle to forgive her but Mariah refuses to help because Summer won’t take responsibility for the hurt she caused Diane and Kyle. Summer goes home to talk to Kyle, but he tells her he doesn’t want to talk to her tonight.

Nick tells Victor Faith has been kidnapped by Cameron and he wants Sharon to go meet him at the hotel where they met years ago. Nick and Victor persuade Sharon to let Nick go with her along with members of Victoria security team.

Chance arrives and tells Nick he found a deed to a warehouse that Cameron owns near the hotel where they met years ago. Chance heads to the warehouse to look for Faith and tells Sharon and Nick not to leave the house. Sharon and Nick decide to go meet Cameron because they think the warehouse is a wild goose chase. Nick tells Sharon to tape a knife to her leg just in case she needs to defend herself. Nick leaves the house to meet with the security team. Sharon waits to meet Nick at the back of the house in fifteen minutes but she is stunned when Cameron enters from the kitchen and tells Sharon that everyone is gone and they are alone.

Jack: I love september. Always have. Back to school, leaves on the trees changing, fire in the hearth.

Diane: And now, we’ll have another reason to adore autumn.

Jack: Our wedding.

Diane: Yes. But, do you think kyle and summer will have resolved their problems by then?

Jack: Well, they have managed to weather a number of challenges in the past and survived.

Diane: Yeah. Every hurt leaves a scar.

Jack: Yeah, but that scar tissue is sturdy stuff. It’ll make them stronger. It’ll make them champions. Don’t worry. Look, they– they’re not kids. They can solve their own problems. You and I have to focus on each other. I wanna lavish you with all the love you deserve.

Diane: Hmm. And tonight, you’re all mine all night.

Jack: Just us.

Diane: It’s a deal.

Jack: Oh, damn.

Billy: Hey, there. Just the woman I was looking for.

Chelsea: Ah. Well, if you’re looking for the confused, exhausted type. I’m your girl.

Billy: Well, I was just about to get myself something sweet. I’ll grab you an espresso. I’m looking forward to the movie night. Been looking forward to it all week. You’ll fall asleep on my shoulder and connor and i will keep it down.

Chelsea: Well, that’s the problem. Connor.

Billy: What is the problem?

Chelsea: He’s announced he’s not coming out of his room.

Billy: What?

Chelsea: Yeah. Not for a movie. Not for a trip around the world. Not even for the latest sneakers.

Billy: No movie?

[ Chelsea exhaling ]

Chelsea: No nothing.

Sally: Actually, I’m not.

Adam: I was, uh, talking to the other lady in the room. Wait ’til you see what I’ve got for you. Your old dad’s here to expand your palate. But in order for you to taste the world, you need to eat.

Sally: [ Grunts ] How can I? Nick was just arrested for assaulting that maniac.

Adam: Wha– cameron? Uh, well, that tracks.

Sally: Wait, you’re not surprised?

Adam: Uh, nick can be a punch first, ask questions when you get around to it kinda guy. But you know that already.

Sally: What do I know?

Adam: The whole story. What happened with ashland. And the news article you refused to run in newman media’s publication.

Sally: Well, yeah, I know that.

Adam: Yeah. I’m just saying that nick can be his own worst enemy, even when when there’s a hint of danger surrounding someone he loves, he can take it to an extreme.

Sharon: You promised me that faith would be safe. You swore to me!

Chance: We are doing everything that we can to find her, sharon. I promise.

Sharon: Great. Call me when you find something.

Chance: Whoa! Whoa! Where are you going? Where are you going? Stop. Stop.

Sharon: To find my child!

Chance: We have people out there doing their jobs. Let them do their jobs.

Sharon: No, I have to go. I have to go. I have to go.

Chance: Listen to me. Listen to me, before you go. I cannot imagine how terrified you are right now. And yes, faith does need you, but she needs you to be smart.

Sharon: I know. I know. I am. I am.

Chance: Okay, take a breath. All right? Think about this. What happens if you run out there without a clue what’s going on and no backup?

Sharon: I put myself in danger.

Chance: Let me do my job. Okay? Trust me.

[ Door opens ]

[ Nick sighing ]

Nick: I just made bail. What’s going on?

Sharon: It’s faith. He took her. He took our baby.

Nick: How’d he get his hands on her?

Chance: Look, I know you’re upset but I have no idea.

Nick: Tell me what happened.

Chance: We are trying to piece this together still, man.

Nick: I told you from the beginning, these battery charges were a setup. He knew I would die before I would ever allow him to touch a hair on faith’s head.

Sharon: Nick, it doesn’t matter! We have to find her now!

Nick: How did he even know where she would be?

Chance: I mean, he’s gotta have someone on the inside.

Nick: You think my family had something to do with this?

Chance: Who had access to that information? Who knew she was on that flight?

Sharon: No one. I booked that flight myself today. No one on the outside knew anything about it.

Nick: It was cameron. He was here. He poisoned the cat.

Sharon: You said that he never came into this house, but that cat, remember, never went outside. It was in here the whole time until faith found him dead on the doorstep.

Nick: I know what you did! You hear me? I know what you did. You had me set up so you can grab my kid because you’re not man enough to come out here and face me! So you hurt a defenseless kid and hurt her cat. I will find you. Do you hear me? I’m going to find you! And when I do, there’s not gonna be enough left of you for the cops to arrest. Do you hear me? Are you still listening?

Sharon: Oh, my god. You wanted my attention. You got it. You bring my daughter home, you bastard. You bring her back home!

Jack: Champagne’s on us. Enjoy.

Diane: Yes. We should toast to true love. The kind that never dies.

Ashley: Ugh. So morbid. Sounds like a rotting corpse dragging itself out of the cemetery. You know what I mean?

Diane: No. No. And no one ever does. And yet everyone continues to listen to your opinions.

Tucker: Ugh. How about we switch to a fun little rose from 2000? It’s a little bouncy for my taste, but can’t have everything.

Jack: Some of us can.

Diane: Yeah.

Ashley: I think that’s a great idea, honey. So, we haven’t decided what to toast to.

Tucker: Righting old wrongs.

Jack: Wow. There’s a cherry toast. How about rekindling old flames?

[ Ashley laughing ]

Diane: Hmm.

Ashley: Oh!

Jack: What? What’s so amusing?

Ashley: Oh, well, kinda reminds me when diane burnt down the pool house.

[ Chuckling ] Seriously, she did that to trap a man. I mean, who does that? Well, diane does because she’ll do anything to get what she wants. Right, jack?

Jack: Why would you bring–

Diane: No, no, no. Let’s not let anything spoil our celebration. To the abundance of love that’s found its way into the abbott family. May we all be so lucky.

Jack: Oh, I like that.

Diane: Hmm.

Sally: This is an entirely different case than what went down with ashland.

Adam: Show your work.

Sally: Well, he protected his sister from a mad man.

Adam: He protected sharon from a lunatic.

Sally: Who shouldn’t even be out on the streets after all of the crimes he’s committed. And ashland fell. That was an accident.

Adam: And after a round in the ring with nick, what befell cameron was probably a left hook.

Sally: Is this a conversation you really wanna be having with a woman whose borderline pre-eclampsia?

Adam: It is all part of the plan to get you to expose and expunge those sticky feelings so we can get to the candy coated core. Lighthearted topics. Eating, for instance.

Sally: I’m still not hungry.

Adam: Okay. Okay. Then we will simply sit here in silence. No, that’s too awkward. Um, we could, let’s see. Let’s see. Ooh, we could listen to an audiobook.

Sally: Oh, that’s fun.

Adam: Well, not me and you. Me and the kid. Ah-ha! Sun tzu’s art of war or machiavelli’s the prince.

Sally: Wow.

Adam: Well, she’s gotta learn somehow. I want our girl to be ready like a warrior.

Sally: Well, she’s ours, so she has no choice.

Adam: Grow up watching her old man work day and night to build mccall from bones to something valuable.

Sally: Why are you working so hard? It’s not like you have to prove anything to yourself or anyone else.

Adam: Well, I’m doing it all for the love of a girl who potentially could be the greatest love of my life.

Sally: Adam–

Adam: Some as of yet, unnamed beauty, who has a mind for business and a heart as big as a kansas cornfield.

Sally: So what’s the plan? Polish mccall until it sparkles, and then you pass it along to connor and the unnamed beauty?

Adam: Ooh, this is the best part. Is once I make it a contender again, I’m gonna take back what’s mine. Newman media.

Sharon: He was here. He found a way into my home. Took my daughter. He took my sense of security. He knows our plans. He knows our fears. And– and we thought we were being so careful.

Chance: With a guy like this it doesn’t matter how cautious you are. He’s probably been planning this for a long time now.

Sharon: He knows what we’re doing. He knows why. And– and we have no information. We still have no idea what he wants.

Nick: I know what he wants. He told me when I confronted him at the athletic club.

Chance: What’d he say?

Nick: He wants sharon. He thinks that he and her belong together and that he’s gonna make her fall in love with him again.

Sharon: I was never in love with him! He is deranged, okay?

Nick: But if he wants sharon–

Chance: He took faith as leverage.

Nick: She’s the bait.

Chance: To get you to him.

[ Chance sighing ] Dispatch. Yeah. Make sure we got cars in between here and the airport, okay? Thank you. All right. I issued an apb on officer swift’s vehicle and a bolo on cameron. We’ll see what that does.

Sharon: Where could he be keeping her? Where is he keeping her?

Chance: Well, if he wants you, he knows he has to be close, right? I mean, he’s still gotta be in the area.

Nick: What should we do?

Chance: Stay put. He’s gonna try to contact you and set up a time and a place to meet, okay?

Sharon: Okay. Where will you be?

Chance: I’m gonna leave some guys on the property, but I wanna go check out his room at the athletic club, see if he left anything behind that might tell us where he is now or what he’s gonna do next.

Sharon: Chance, please find our faith. Find her.

[ Sharon sobbing ] (Wheezing)

Tucker: I don’t know. What do you think of this rose?

Ashley: Oh, it’s delightful, honey.

Tucker: All right. Maybe we should serve it at the wedding.

Diane: Don’t stop there. Why don’t you buy the vineyard, become vintners and move far, far away?

Ashley: Oh, we can’t do that. We love genoa city too much, don’t we?

Tucker: Yeah.

Ashley: We love it here. Could never move. Although, we could probably do some modifications on the house.

Jack: Wait, my house?

Ashley: Our house. Because sometimes it’s a little inconvenient to run into certain people when you just wanna grab a quick snack from the kitchen.

Diane: Certain people?

Ashley: Yeah. I don’t wanna point fingers, but–

Diane: Yeah. Well, what do you propose we do about it? What? Build a wall down the center of the house?

Ashley: How stupid is that building a wall? Come on. No. I mean, a fence would do perfectly fine.

Tucker: Yes.

Jack: Don’t be absurd.

Tucker: No. An electric fence.

Ashley: Right.

Tucker: You know what though? The increase in the utility bill makes it impractical.

Ashley: We can’t afford that.

Diane: When will you two stop acting so childish?

Ashley: Oh, maybe when your bus leaves the station out of town.

Jack: Could we just have one evening that doesn’t involve sniping and bickering?

Both: She started it.

Jack: Well, apparently not.

Diane: How can you say this started with me? You’re the one who moved tucker into the house. You’re– you’re the one who started this asinine wedding charade.

Ashley: Why is my wedding asinine and yours is perfectly normal?

Diane: Because you’re about to marry that ass.

Tucker: Wow. Are you gonna let her talk to me like that?

Ashley: Well, she’s not really talking to you. She’s talking about you. And no, I’m not. You know, I could throw this perfectly beautiful glass of rose in your face, but that would be a waste of a very expensive glass. But still I’m somehow tempted to maybe just–

Tucker: Can we get a less expensive rose?

Diane: Oh, really, ashley? I dare you. I dare you.

Ashley: You dare me?

Jack: Calm down!

Abby: What fresh hell is this?

Chelsea: I left a message for sharon. She still hasn’t gotten back to me.

Billy: Well, devil’s advocate, kids go through things. We know that.

Chelsea: Yeah. This just feels different, billy. What if it’s the start of something hereditary, that connor’s gonna have to struggle with his entire life?

Billy: That’s possible, okay? That– that could be true, but we don’t know yet. Okay? So one step at a time. Yeah? I’ll go talk to him.

Chelsea: Oh. Uh, just, uh, I don’t know if that’s a good idea.

Billy: Hmm. I can handle a moody teenager. I was one not that long ago.

Chelsea: Hmm… it’s kinda long ago.

Billy: Okay. Watch yourself. Uh, look, we get along well. Let me go talk to him. And who knows? This might be about some girl he doesn’t wanna talk to his mom about.

Chelsea: That kid would talk to me.

Billy: Let me go upstairs. See what I can do.

Chelsea: You’re quite confident.

Billy: I got this.

Chelsea: Good luck.

[ Chelsea sighing ]

Nick: I should have been there. I should have been with faith.

Sharon: Nick, you can not blame yourself.

Nick: I should have driven her to the airport.

Sharon: Well, then he would’ve gotten both of you. Or waited until she was alone someplace else and taken her then. This is not your fault, okay? She had a police escort and that maniac still managed to take her.

Nick: I cannot stop thinking about how bad I’m gonna hurt this guy.

Sharon: All right. Well, we need to focus on the problem. We need to wait for a phone call or some other kind of communication from him.

[ Nick sighing ]

[ Phone ringing ]

Sally: Nick, are you all right?

Nick: Better now that I get to hear your voice.

Sally: It’s really sweet of you to say. Please tell me everything. What’s going on?

Nick: Well, I got outta jail, so things are working themselves out.

Sally: Are you being vague for medical reasons?

Nick: What do you mean?

Sally: It’s like there’s something going on and you don’t wanna tell me. Look, I’m– I’m fine. I’m– I am serenity itself.

Nick: Well, I intend to keep it that way.

Sally: Do you know why I was so good at newman media? Because I suffer from fomo. Chronic fear of missing out. I need to know things.

Nick: Well, you’re gonna have to get used to taking a backseat for the next few months. Listen, can you do me a favor? Can you put adam on the phone? I need to talk to him and promise me that you’re gonna take care of yourself until I get there and do it for you.

Sally: I can’t wait. And same to you.

[ Sally sighing ] And for the record, I hate being left in the dark.

Adam: Anyone that’s spent 20 seconds with you will know that. Before you ask, she’s fine. I’ll make sure she eats her veggies. How are things?

Nick: Is this on speaker phone?

Adam: Of course not.

Nick: All right. I need you to pretend like you’re not hearing bad news and definitely keep this to yourself.

Adam: I can do that.

Nick: Cameron has faith. He took my little girl.

Adam: I see. Um, what now?

Nick: I’mma take care of this. That’s what’s now.

Adam: Well, don’t worry about sally. I will take care of her, um, while you handle that issue.

Nick: Thank you.

Adam: Mm-hmm. What are brothers for? Do what you have to do.

Nick: Oh, I will. Count on that.

Diane: You have been attacking me since I came back to genoa city.

Ashley: Who asked you to come back, diane?

Abby: Okay. Wait, wait. Stop. Just stop whatever this is.

Jack: Hey. Look who’s here.

Diane: Hi, honey.

Tucker: Just in time

Abby: For what? World war iii?

Jack: Actually, we were celebrating.

Abby: Oh, is that what you call this? Because it looks like you were trying to resolve this great wedding conflict by attempting to smash each other’s heads in.

Diane: Oh, no. There’s no conflict. Your uncle jack and I were just mulling over the idea of a september wedding.

Ashley: [ Fake coughing ] Oh, no, not september.

Tucker: Yeah, we had our eyes set on august.

Ashley: Yeah. ‘Cause we just, we can’t wait.

Jack: Please put an end to this ruse. You could save face and walk away from the whole thing.

Abby: I think what uncle jack is trying to say is that august just seems so soon.

Tucker: Well, I would marry her tomorrow if she’d have me.

Ashley: Isn’t it tremendous news, jackie? I mean, really, isn’t it? We have a couple months here of just, oh, it’s just gonna be filled with planning and fittings and all the excitement that goes into new beginnings.

Tucker: Oh, I can’t wait.

Ashley: Yeah. Me neither. I can’t wait. I mean, really it’s more than just a wedding though, don’t you think tucker? It’s more of like a wedding experience.

Tucker: Experience.

Ashley: Yeah. And I think– I mean, I hope that the people on your guest list aren’t wedding-ed out after all the events that we have planned. I mean, it’s truly an extravaganza.

Tucker: Extravaganza. Truly.

Diane: Jack, why don’t we find a table closer to the music?

Jack: Excellent idea.

Ashley: Bye.

Abby: You’re children, you know that, right? Worse than children.

Billy: It could have gone better. At least, now I know my sense of humor works better on his mother.

Chelsea: What happened?

Billy: Well, um, I did my best and, uh, he wasn’t really having it. He used homework as an excuse, asked me to shut the door while I was on the other side of it. But he was very polite about it.

Chelsea: What do you think this is?

Billy: I don’t know.

Chelsea: I don’t think this is just the usual dark cloud that’s gonna blow over. I really don’T. I mean, why would it? Between my genetics and adam’s weird self-loathing, me against the world thing, I mean, it’s no wonder this kid wants to lock himself in his bedroom.

Billy: Okay. I’ve known you for a long time. You’ve been many things, but licensed physician, not one.

Chelsea: I’m his mom.

Billy: I know. I get it. And as a parent, you think you know all the right answers. Best thing you can do is love him, continue to support him, and know that sometimes, a professional is the best person to ask about stuff like this.

Chelsea: Yeah, you’re right. You’re right. I’m just gonna tell him, “listen, if you, you know, sprained your ankle, you’d go see a doctor. Depending on your unique genetic makeup, some of us are more prone to sprained ankles than the rest of the world.”

Billy: Look, the best thing he can do to take care of himself is allow the people that love him to help him.

Chelsea: And if sharon can’t help, I will find someone who can.

Billy: Sounds like a plan.

Sharon: You know, when faith was born, they told me she didn’t make it. That never felt right to me. Sometimes, I could feel her out there, like my missing part needing me.

Nick: Then, she was in your arms like cassie predicted.

Sharon: Someone’s been looking out for her. She has a guardian angel.

Nick: She does. Everything about that girl is a miracle

Sharon: From the very beginning. And that’s not gonna end now. Type 2 diabetes?

Adam: Well, look who, uh, had an appetite after all?

Sally: Oh, it was so good. Where’s it from?

Adam: What?

Sally: Where’s it from? Where’s it from?

Adam: I’m not telling. Don’t look at the address on the receipt. Okay? Guy’s gotta keep a secret. What if I go in there one night and you’ve made it yours and nick’s new favorite spot?

Sally: Well, it was delicious.

Adam: That’s what new york tastes like to me. Stumbling home after a late night, passing all the closed shops and empty taxis, having a grilled cheese while the city comes alive again.

Sally: The grilled cheese is perfect. And that story was distracting in all the right ways. And it’s a good thing that you like late nights and early mornings because I have news. This one is a free spirit.

Adam: Well, I am glad to entertain.

Sally: Just which stomach churning event are you distracting me from? My blood pressure and the baby, or this thing with the guy from nick and sharon’s past and just how serious is it?

Nick: Yes, faith is a miracle. You know what else she is? She’s your daughter. That means she’s a fighter and a survivor. Wherever she is, she’s gonna be okay. She’s gonna come back to us.

Sharon: She still has so much she needs to experience, nick.

Nick: I know that. And she knows she has two parents who will move heaven and earth to bring her back home. Our daughter is made of steel. Do not shed a tear for her. If anything, you feel pity for the bastard who made the mistake of messing with our girl.

Sharon: I wish I had a slice of her strength right now.

Nick: Sharon, that is what’s keeping her going. She knows that she is front and center in your mind. That connection that you have, that love that you have is so strong and real. I need you to dig deep and access that part of your connection. That is what is going to keep her alive.

Sharon: Yeah?

Nick: Yes. We need the sharon that kicked cancer’s ass. That helped our daughter through that terrible car accident and got her through rehab and the kidney transplant.

Sharon: She was so brave then.

Nick: Then and now. We need the mom who studied day and night to get that degree. One I know she sometimes feels like she’s not using. But sharon, it is time for you to do the most important thing you’ve done in a long time. Find our little girl. Get inside his head.

Sharon: I can’t, nick.

Nick: Yes, you can. Yes, you can. You can do this. You know how he thinks. Just take yourself out of the picture, all right? This is just another case study in one of your textbooks. It is suspect versus survivor. Tell me what he’s gonna do next.

Sharon: He’ll play mind games. He’ll try to get inside of her head and get her to believe his lies. That’s what he did with me and he will try the same with her. We’ve gotta find her, nick, before it’s too late.

Jack: I am so sorry. You do not deserve any of this abuse that ashley is heaping on you.

Diane: Oh, your sister doesn’t scare me. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go to the ladies. Be right back.

Abby: Uncle jack, what’s going on?

Jack: What’s going on? I am in love about to marry the woman I am meant for. Everything else–

Abby: Could be devastating.

Jack: Okay, abby, what is it you wanna say?

Abby: What is going on with my mom’s behavior? It’s crazy. I mean, she’s saying she’s doing all of this because she’s trying to protect you and jabot from diane’s diabolical designs, but doesn’t it bother you?

Jack: Tell me this. Do you think your mother really wants to expel me from jabot or she just wants me to think that’s what she’s doing?

Abby: Either way, all of this is troublesome. I mean, arguing in public, all of it.

Jack: Well, I’m a man in love. What trouble is it to me? Tucker is exploiting your mother. He’s taking advantage of her. He’s manipulating her. Whether he’s doing it for fun or for profit, I don’t know. But he’s the one who needs the talking to.

Abby: You think so too?

Jack: Oh, if there is some master plan to take over at jabot, tucker is the engineer. And any talk that your mother is making this move to protect the company from diane, that is garbage. This is a power grab. Pure and simple.

Abby: Uncle jack, I–

Jack: It breaks my heart that she is even considering it, but I am unruffled because even if tucker, god forbid marries her, he will never get his hands on jabot. I told myself I was ok with my moderate

Adam: I am not certain I understand your question. Are you asking me if nick and sharon past is a threat or the guy from their past is a threat to you?

Sally: Okay, now I’m confused. Although that’s probably what you were going for, wasn’t it? Look, just answer me this one question. Should I be worried about nick and sharon’s past?

Adam: No.

Sally: Should I be worried about the guy?

Adam: That’s two questions.

Sally: Okay. Adam, look, what are you saying?

Adam: You are not supposed to be worried about anything right now. You know nick would never let anything happen to you.

Sally: There’s something you’re not telling me, I know it. But I am more tired than curious, so I’m just gonna go rest my eyes.

Adam: I support that wholeheartedly. Here, let me help get in there. All cozy and calm while you dream of– of– where is your happy place these days?

Sally: Oh, well, going over color palettes for the job at chancellor-winters.

Adam: You know, the idea is to relax, keep your blood pressure low.

Sally: Is your happy place on a beach, on an island? Or is it taking your private elevator up to the top floor of your building, saying, “good morning, to your assistant and sitting behind your custom made desk?

Adam: You got a point. Go wherever you’re happy. But you have to do it from this room and this bed.

Sally: Mm, wild horses could not drag me away.

Adam: Good. Because I would lose my job.

Sally: Well, you always have mccall.

Adam: Hmm. Oh, that’s just a shiny toy that’s, um, nowhere near what I really want.

Sally: And what is it that you really want?

[ Adam sighing ]

Adam: Everything.

Sally: Adam, wait, can you do me a favor?

Adam: Anything.

Sally: Will you wake me when nick calls?

Adam: I promise.

Billy: Look, I know this is tough. No parent wants to see their kids struggle, whether it’s a math equation or emotions.

Chelsea: If this were algebra, I’d just hire a tutor.

Billy: There’s no shame in getting help. We know that. And connor is a bright, smart, funny kid. He loves life and he adores his mother. He’s just got some things swirling around in his head right now and it’s clouding his vision. And we’ll do everything we can to make sure that he gets clearheaded again.

Chelsea: Back to the real connor.

Billy: Exactly.

Chelsea: Date night for single parents is supposed to be a lot more fun than this. I promise I’ll make it up to you.

Billy: Any night I get with you is as good as it gets.

[ Abby sighing ]

Abby: Are you so bored now that you don’t have your own company to run that your new hobby is sowing discord?

Tucker: No, abby, the only thing that would leave me bereft is if I were to lose your mother.

Abby: What do you want from diane and uncle jack?

[ Tucker sighing ]

Tucker: Peace. Sincerely. I was hoping to find our own little corner of the world and start something new with your mom.

Abby: Or that could just be something you’re saying to cover your true motives. Do you really think my mom would start over again with you? Of course not. She’s not gonna walk away from her family’s business and you know that. This is just putting you in the perfect position to snatch jabot and make it seem like my mom’s idea.

Tucker: I see. The real thing is that you just don’t trust me.

Abby: No, I don’T.

Tucker: Okay. I’m gonna make her happy, abby.

Abby: You’re gonna break her heart. You always do.

Tucker: You know, abby, I sure hope you’re not teaching that grandson of mine that people can’t change. Hey.

Ashley: Uh-oh. What did I miss?

Abby: Oh, nothing. You know, just a round of getting to know your mom’s former and future husband.

Ashley: Who’s winning?

Abby: I’m not sure yet.

[ Abby scoffing ] I’m gonna pull over and stretch my legs.

Abby: Well, I– I have to go. I have a beautiful little boy to rush home to.

Ashley: Okay.

Jack: Family.

Diane: Where would we be without them?

Ashley: I can think of a few places you’d fit right in.

Abby: Okay. Stop.

Ashley: Sorry.

Abby: Seriously? You’re adults. Act your age. Respect the people around you. Now I am gonna go cuddle the most handsome man in town and I will see you guys later.

Jack: Bye, abby.

Diane: Bye.

Ashley: Very good. Um, I think maybe I wanna go cuddle the handsomest man in town too.

Diane: I think that’s the next thing on my to-do list.

Jack: I think we should get started on that. Do you think we could do what abby asked? Act our age and show a little respect toward each other.

Ashley: Anyway, let’s go.

[ Phone pinging ]

Sharon: No!

Nick: Sharon?

Sharon: No!

Nick: What is it?

Sharon: [ Sobbing ] My baby. Oh, my god, my baby. How could he do this to me? How could he do this?

Nick: When I get my hands on him–

[ Phone pinging ]

Sharon: What? What is it now?

Nick: “Join me where our old love died and a new love can be born. Come alone. Same motel, same room. Some things you can never forget.”

Sharon: It’s the motel room. The motel room where I killed him. I thought I killed him all those years ago, nick. Oh, my god! Oh, my god!

Chelsea tells Billy she is worried about Connor because now he won’t come out of his room. Billy tries to talk to Connor but it doesn’t work and he stays in his room and he does his homework.

Nick arrives at Sharon’s house to find out that Cameron has kidnapped Faith. Nick searches the house and finds a bug and shows Chance that Cameron has been listening to their conversations the entire time. Nick calls Adam to tell him Cameron has kidnapped Faith and asks him not to tell Sally. Adam promises Nick he will keep Sally safe from Cameron.

Chance searches Cameron’s hotel room to look for clues to where he could have taken Faith. Sharon gets a text message from Cameron asking her to come to the hotel where they met years ago, and she must come alone. The text message includes a picture of Faith tied to a chair.

Daniel: I understand how urgent this is, but there is a right way and a wrong way to clear mom.

Summer: Okay. What would be so wrong with finding a witness that saw the whole thing?

Daniel: It’s a fake witness. One who could make matters worse 20 different ways.

Summer: What about my idea to find, um, the emt? Carson. He– he saw what stark did.

Daniel: He’s also a fugitive. He was a part of the plot. He’s not a credible witness. He’d be lying under oath, which means he’d be tacking another felony onto his record. Look, say that you did, by some miracle, convince this guy to do what you’re asking for some huge sum of money. Carson would hold that over your head for the rest of your life. He’d continue to extort you. You’d never be rid of him. Not to mention the fact that he might invent details that– that contradict mom’s story. I just think that the whole plan isn’t realistic.

Summer: Okay. You’re just throwing out worst case scenarios. This actually could work.

Daniel: Summer.

Summer: No, we need to find carson. We need to at least talk to him. All he has to do is tell the police that he saw mom act in self-defense.

Daniel: Oh, that’s all he has to do, huh?

Summer: Stark paid him to be an accomplice, so clearly, he can be bought. So, what, I– I find him, I give him a big bag of money and he says what I want him to say.

[ Daniel scoffs, sighs ]

Victor: I don’t care how damn busy you are. I wanna know what judge is responsible for today’s arraignments. Exactly. Get back to me. All right? Don’t give me a– what? Get to it.

Nikki: How is that going?

[ Victor groans in frustration ]

Victor: All I know is that I want our son out of that jail cell. He doesn’t belong there.

Nikki: As soon as cameron showed up in town, I think everybody expected this. I mean, there was bound to be a showdown.

Victor: Of course there was bound to be a showdown. Question is how to resolve it.

Nikki: I think we need to let michael do what he does best. He will get nicholas out as soon as possible. In the meantime, have there been any cameron sightings?

Victor: Uh-uh. And if that punk knows what’s good for him, he won’t show up anywhere near this house or our family.

Nikki: We’ve done what we can. Michael will keep us updated. So, in the meantime, why don’t we focus on our work and let him focus on his?

Victor: I know you’re trying to distract me. Good idea, too. There’s some business I want to discuss with you.

Nikki: Oh, the anderson deal. I have it right here.

Victor: No. I wanna talk to you about nate hastings. How’s he doing?

Nikki: You mean since he has started seeing victoria?

Victor: No, overall.

Nikki: I have to say, very well. He has made good decisions for newman media.

Victor: Good to know.

Nikki: I understand you’ve taken him under your wing.

Nate: My day was productive. Yours?

Victoria: Mine was… it was extremely productive.

Nate: Really?

Victoria: Yeah.

Nate: Why do you suppose that is?

Victoria: I don’t know. For some odd reason, I was just filled with energy.

Nate: Mm.

Victoria: Maybe it was that private meeting that we squeezed in before we went to the office.

Nate: Oh, you mean upstairs in the newman corporate suite?

[ Laughing ] You know, come to think of it, I was pretty invigorated myself afterward.

Victoria: I think we got a lot accomplished upstairs.

Nate: An amazing amount.

Victoria: We you usually do, though.

[ Nate chuckling ]

[ Phone chiming ]

Victoria: Oh, I’m sorry. I meant to turn my phone off.

Nate: No, go ahead. It’s fine.

Victoria: Sure?

Nate: Problem?

Victoria: Oh, my– my brother got arrested.

Nate: Oh, boy. What’s adam done now?

Victoria: No, not– not adam. Nicholas.

Nate: Are you serious?

Victoria: Yeah. Look, sadly we’re gonna have to cut this short. Excuse me. Can I please get the check?

Faith: I don’t understand how this can happen. That cameron kirsten freak is a criminal who killed a cat and dad is sitting in jail?

Sharon: Michael is a very sharp attorney. He will get your father out of there and out of trouble. Though it may take some time.

Faith: How much time? I never would’ve agreed to leave town if I’d known that you’d be alone.

[ Knocking on door ]

Chance: It’s chance.

Faith: How could you arrest my father?

Michael: Hey. How you doing? You hanging in there?

Nick: How do you think I’m doing? Kirsten is lying. These charges are a joke. It’s a setup to get me out of the way so I can’t protect sharon and faith. He’s obviously planning something, which means you have to get me out here now!

Michael: I appreciate the urgency, but you’re not gonna be arraigned ’til later today. And frankly, seeing how wound up you are right now, this might be the safest place for you. When migraine strikes, you’re faced with a choice.

Summer: You know what? If that’s your attitude, fine. I don’t need your help.

Nick: What do you mean you think it’s safer for me in here? Are you kidding me?

Michael: Nick! Nick, I am on your side.

Nick: Are you sure about that, michael?

Michael: I know exactly what I’m dealing with. All right? If you’ll recall, I was the first to hear about cameron, how vicious he is. Years ago, sharon told me what happened in denver before she admitted it to anyone else. The man is a disgusting pig, but he’s not stupid. In fact, he’s got you all figured out. You didn’t even touch him, and where are you? In jail. Out of commission. Because cameron anticipated that you’d come for him and he used it like a judo move against you. Pretty damn elegant if you ask me. Now, you are gonna stay in here for an hour or so and calm down while we wait for your arraignment. In the meantime, chance is with sharon, looking out for her. I mean, her own private special forces expert. I’ll even check on her, too, on my way.

Nick: Just make sure that sharon is safe and you keep cameron kirsten away from faith.

Michael: I give you my word. Between chance and me and victor’s security team, there’s gonna be a whole lot of people watching over them.

Nick: And I’m grateful for that, believe me. But I’m afraid that cameron is planning something, and once he puts it in motion, there may be no stopping it.

Chance: Cameron kirsten filed a complaint against your father. His face was beaten. And nick did admit to going to his hotel room, and his hands were bruised, so I had to follow the law.

Faith: Dad punched the wall. It is his word against cameron’S.

Chance: Well, the truth has a way of coming out in court.

Faith: Well, it needs to come out now. Dad shouldn’t be in jail. He shouldn’t have to deal with any of this. And he should be here with mom.

Chance: I understand that this guy is a creep, and that’s why I’m here. Since nick can’t be with you, I’m here to protect you.

Sharon: You are such a wonderful young woman. And I promise you, we will all be together again soon. But if you’re going to catch your flight, you better scoot.

Chance: I have a plainclothes officer outside in an unmarked car. His name’s officer swift. He’s gonna drive you to the airport and escort you to the gate. I’m gonna stay here with your mother so all bases are covered.

Faith: I hate leaving you with this guy in town.

Sharon: I am not afraid of him. And I do not want you worrying about me. You text me from your seat before you take off. Promise me.

Faith: I will.

Sharon: All right. Give me a hug. Okay. Remember to drink water. Stay hydrated. Those planes are very dry.

Faith: [ Chuckling ] Okay. Hydrate. Got it.

Chance: Come on. I’ll walk you out.

[ Kissing ]

Faith: I love you. Bye.

Sharon: I love you. Safe flighT. And we’re done.

Sharon: I really appreciate you coming by. But shouldn’t you be out there looking for cameron?

Chance: Well, I got my team and victor’s guys on high alert. I’m gonna stay put, if that’s okay? I’m sure as hell not gonna leave you here alone. Plus i told nick I’d look after you. So, just feel free to ignore me and go back to business.

Sharon: Well, I can’t just putter around you like you’re the furniture.

Chance: Ah, sure you can. I’ll blend right in. You’ll be mistaking me for an old ottoman in no time.

Sharon: [ Laughing ] Somehow I doubt that.

Chance: It’s nice to hear you laugh again.

Sharon: Well… you’re a positive influence. And not just on me. I appreciate you being so reassuring with faith. These past few days have been tough on her.

Chance: Yeah, she’s a good kid.

Sharon: Now that she’s off to college, the time I have with her is really precious. You know, a few short years from now she’ll be graduated and off on her own, and– and then I’m really gonna miss her.

Chance: Well, I can tell how much you two love each other. I doubt she’ll end up very far away from home.

Sharon: I hope not. Having to send her away like this is agonizing. It’s one of the reasons why I’m so angry with cameron. You know, I want this house to be a haven for faith.

Chance: Yeah, I understand that. I kinda wanted something similar at my place for dominic. Didn’t really work out for me.

Sharon: Well, it’s tough when you’re trying to keep your kids safe.

[ Knocking ]

Chance: It’s okay.

[ Phone ringing ]

Summer: Mom.

Phyllis: Hey, I’m glad you picked up.

Summer: I’m glad that we got you out of there when we did. Kyle brought chance straight to your room.

Phyllis: Yeah, that was a good call. I’m sure they’re still looking for me.

Summer: Yeah. Everybody wants to know where you’re hiding and they think that I’m keeping the secret.

Phyllis: Well, that’s why I’m not letting you know. Not that I can’t trust you.

Summer: It’s my own fault that kyle found you in the first place and I– I’m gonna make it up to you.

Phyllis: What? You have nothing to make up. Are you kidding me?

Summer: No, I’m gonna– I’m gonna find that emt that was in on the plan with you and stark– carson. I’m gonna find him and I’m gonna make him go to the police and say that he saw stark attack you and that you had to defend yourself.

Phyllis: No, you are absolutely not going to do that, summer.

Summer: Mom–

Phyllis: No, I mean it, summer. If anyone’s gonna find the emt, it’s gonna be me. You got it? He broke so many laws. I’m sure he’s very far from genoa city right now.

Summer: But… if I paid him enough–

Phyllis: Summer, I mean it. No! I’m gonna take care of this on my own now. Okay? I’m gonna come up with a plan. Please trust me. I don’t wanna pull you and daniel into any of this mess anymore. What I want you to do is go to kyle and work on your relationship. Fix it. Okay?

Summer: I don’t even know if that’s possible.

Phyllis: Anything is possible. Go try. All right, super girl? Listen, I have so much to make up for. I can’t have your marriage on my conscience.

Victoria: Hi. So–

Nikki: Hi, guys.

Victor: Oh, hey.

Victoria: What’s the latest? Is nick okay? I’m assuming that cameron is behind this.

Nikki: Yeah. Who else? As far as we have heard–

Victor: Your brother is being arraigned momentarily. Michael baldwin will call as soon as he’s finished with the hearing.

Nikki: We’re confident he’ll be released on bail.

Victoria: [ Scoffs ] As usual, nick couldn’t help himself. He had to take matters into his own hands. You know this isn’t gonna reflect well for the company.

Victor: Nicholas denies he attacked the man.

Nikki: You know, that is such classic cameron. It’s all based on his twisted vendetta against your brother and sharon.

Victoria: I don’t doubt that’s an element. But we all know how aggressive nick can be when he’s protecting the people that he loves.

Victor: And if you recall, that helped you a great deal, didn’t it? Anyway, michael baldwin will, I’m sure, solve the problem. He owes me one.

Nikki: I trust him implicitly.

Nate: Michael is one of the best.

Victoria: On a personal note, I sympathize. Cameron is a horrible excuse for a human being. But as ceo, I have to be practical. Nick and sharon helped to put him away for murder. All it’s gonna take is a reporter with an ax to grind, to connect the dots in other areas. And that, dad, is the last kind of publicity that we need.

Victor: What are you talking about?

Victoria: Until this conflict is resolved and he clears his name, I’m gonna ask nick to take a leave of absence. Ladies…

Nikki: A leave of absence?

Victor: What are you talking about?

Nate: Uh, clearly this is a family matter, so I’ll excuse myself, if you don’t mind.

Victor: Thank you, nate.

Nate: I’ll talk to you later.

Victoria: Yeah.

[ Nate clearing throat ] Nick has one priority right now: Protecting his family.

Victor: As he protected you from ashland locke.

Victoria: Exactly. We don’t wanna draw attention to nick taking the law into his own hands. It’s the right solution for both him and for the company.

Victor: Sweetheart, it isn’t your call to make.

Victoria: Well, what do you think, mom? How do you feel about nick trying to deal with work while getting himself out of this legal trouble, while protecting faith and sharon at the same time?

Nikki: I agree with your father. I mean, yes, he needs to focus on his family, keep them safe. I’m happy to cover for him, but I don’t think we should call it a formal leave of absence. That would just raise more questions.

Victor: Just personal time off. End of story. No one else’s business.

Victoria: Okay. Well, you can call it whatever you wanna call it, but I want nick to be free to focus his energies where they belong right now.

Phyllis: I’m gonna do things on my own now, summer. Okay? I made a mistake. I put you in a horrible position. But I’m going to take care of everything now. All right?

Summer: But, mom, I can help you. The only thing that I wanna do right now is bring you home. And if getting carson to cooperate is what it takes–

Phyllis: No! Summer, I mean it. This is non-negotiable. You got it? Drop it.

Summer: [ Scoffs ] Fine. You win. What are you gonna do now?

Phyllis: Um, I’m not quite sure, but you don’t need to worry about me. You know me. I’m gonna come up with something. But what I want you to do is go to your husband. Don’t worry about me. I’ll be okay.

[ Sighing ]

Sharon: Nick must be climbing the walls in there.

Michael: No, he’s just anxious to have this arraignment over and done with.

[ Sharon sighing ]

Sharon: I thought that this nightmare was behind us, michael, a long time ago, when cameron got sent to prison.

Michael: Look, this time, you went straight to the authorities. You did the smart thing.

Sharon: I remember you begging me last time. “Tell nick, go to the police. Don’t try to handle this maniac on your own.” But I… I was just too terrified. I couldn’t bring myself to do it.

Michael: We’ve handled everything correctly this time. And I’m– I’m here to help.

Sharon: And we are eternally grateful.

[ Whispering ] I think I lost my mind last time. And… I– I cannot have that kind of violence or cruelty in my life again. And I will be damn sure that faith never experiences anything like that.

Michael: Um, detective, I don’t wanna alarm you, but, um… uh, nick thinks that cameron is up to something. And I’m afraid I have to agree.

Chance: Yeah, I think so, too. Now that he’s got nick out of the way, feels like he might make a move soon. All’s quiet on the ranch so far, though.

Sharon: Well, I am so glad that faith is going far, far away from here.

[ Phone ringing ]

Chance: That’s a great idea.

Michael: If you agree, I’ll try to push it through asap.

Sharon: Yes. If you think he’ll abide.

Michael: Well, if he doesn’t, he’ll be cooling his heels in a jail cell somewhere. Now, let me head into town. I will set it in motion. There’s not really very much left I can do here right now.

Sharon: Okay. It’s going to be another long evening and a sleepless night.

Chance: Well, don’t worry. I’ll be here, so you can rest. Tomorrow may be tense.

[ Phone ringing ]

Michael: Oh, I’m sorry. I should take this. Summer, what’s up?

Summer: I’m at society. Can you meet me? It’s about my mom.

Michael: Your mom? Um… uh, uh, I’ve got some time before nick’s arraignment. I can be there in 20.

Summer: Okay. I’ll see– wait, nick’s what?

Daniel: Oh, you’re worried about summer? What did she tell you? Her ridiculous plan?

Phyllis: Yeah, she did. And I told her in the strongest possible terms not to pursue it. I was adamant, but I’m afraid she’s just gonna do what she wants anyway.

Daniel: Yeah. You’re probably right.

Phyllis: Okay, so, listen. This emt guy, his name is carson. He’s really sketchy. And not only that, he was really, really scared, which is not a good sign. I mean, he stole two bodies from the morgue. He faked two deaths, and then he lied to the police. He’s probably long gone by now, I’m sure.

Daniel: You’re sure or you hope?

Phyllis: I don’t know. But listen, daniel, if she confronts him with the truth and he knows that now his cover is blown, who knows what he’s gonna do. That just can’t happen. You have to make sure she doesn’t do this. Please. We don’t wanna mess with this guy.

Daniel: I tried to talk her out of it, but no such luck.

Phyllis: Well, you have to try again. Whatever it takes, daniel, you have to. Please. I gotta go.

Daniel: Hey, hey, wait, wait. Mom. Where are you? Does summer know?

Phyllis: No, she doesn’t know. And you’re not gonna know either. I’m gonna take care of myself from now on. I’m gonna come up with a plan. I’ll be fine. I need you and your sister to back away from this. I’m gonna keep you safe from now on.

Michael: Summer.

Summer: What’s going on with my dad?

Michael: Um, he ran into some trouble. It’ll be taken care of in… hold, 45 minutes.

Summer: But he’s in jail?

Michael: Well, for now. Talk to him when– when he gets out. He’ll tell you what happened. You both will have a good laugh over it.

Summer: Oh, god. My dad is in jail. My mom is on the run.

[ Chuckling ] What is happening in my life? What–

Michael: Summer, I’m taking care of your dad. It’s just a big misunderstanding. Really. Don’t worry about him. Now, tell me what’s happening with phyllis. Have you seen her?

Summer: Yeah, I have. And I– I– I think that she’s nearby, but she– she won’t tell me where she is.

Michael: Good. SmarT.

Summer: I have a plan to bring her home safely.

Michael: [ Grunts ] And you need my help?

Summer: I need you to help me find the emt that stark paid to help with the whole faking mom’s death thing. Carson.

Michael: Yeah. I know who he is. The guy’s a crook. What could you possibly want with him?

Summer: I wanna convince him to be a witness. Say that he saw stark abusing my mom. Say that she had to act in self-defense. And then we can get her off the hook for murder, at least. And I will pay for it. You don’t have to worry about that part.

Michael: Okay. Okay. Look, everything you just said, we are not going to do.

Summer: I’m trying–

Michael: No way, no how.

Summer: I’m trying to find a solution.

Michael: Yeah. Well, you would be committing serious crimes with a wanted man to aid and abet another fugitive. I mean, we’re talking about fraud, obstruction, witness tampering, conspiracy to suborn perjury– that’s just the beginning. Look, n– the answer is no. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Have I made myself clear?

Summer: Okay, you sound like my mom and daniel.

Michael: Yeah. Well, then listen to all three of us tell you to forget this unworkable scheme.

Summer: Michael, you’re supposed to be my mom’s oldest and dearest friend. Do you not think that we owe it to her to help her try to come home without a prison sentence?

Michael: Sweetheart, you know my history. I’ve been there. I’m not breaking the law. I’m not doing for phyllis. I’m not doing it for anyone. And I’m not encouraging you to do so.

Summer: So, what, then? She’s just– she’s just doomed? I’m– I’m not ever gonna see my mom again? And I– if she gets caught, she’s gonna spend the rest of her life in prison.

Michael: All right, all right, all right, you might wanna take that down a notch. Because hysteria really doesn’t work with me. No, I– I am, I am grateful that you brought up this carson character. I don’t want you anywhere near him. But he could be a critical piece of this puzzle.

Summer: Wait. Seriously?

Michael: Yeah. He could legitimately testify that stark was the mastermind behind phyllis’s fake death, and about his darker tendencies, which may have caused phyllis to kill him in– in– in self-defense.

Summer: So, you do think that he could help with her case?

Michael: Potentially. It’s a long shot. We have to locate him, we have to convince him to return to the jurisdiction and– and expose himself to possible arrest.

Summer: But there’s hope. That’s what– that’s what matters. There’s hope.

Michael: Only if you swear not to make any moves on your own, or to get your hopes up too high. Then– then I will do everything I can to follow up on this angle.

Summer: It has to work. She has to come home.

Nikki: Well, I can’t help wondering if your relationship is influencing your decision about your brother’s status.

Victoria: My concern is for nick and the company. Nate has nothing to do with this.

Nikki: Well, let me ask you this. If nicholas were to walk away from newman for whatever reason, would you consider elevating nate to that position?

Nate: Nick’s dealing with some serious issues that require his full attention.

Audra: Hmm.

Nate: Victoria’s gonna ask him to take a leave of absence.

Audra: Creating an opening you could take advantage of.

Nate: Even if it’s temporary, it will give me a chance to show what I’m capable of at that level, without nick around constantly breathing down my neck.

Audra: Mm. And bring me one step closer to running newman media.

[ Nate chuckles ]

Nate: Here’s to us. Advancing our plan.

Audra: [ Laughs ] I’ll drink to that.

Kyle: Summer’s not here.

Daniel: Actually, I came here to talk to you.

Kyle: Why?

Daniel: Because I’m worried about her. She’s desperate. She’s trying to come up with ways to help mom that are risky. They– they don’t make any sense. And she’s not gonna listen to me but she might– she might listen to you. I mean, that is if you’re willing to talk to her. Are you? Can you forgive her just a little bit?

Victor: Michael baldwin, why aren’t you getting my son out of jail?

Michael: Oh, well, I’m headed to the arraignment right after this meeting.

Summer: Hi.

Victor: Hello, sweetheart.

Summer: Thank you for coming, grandpa.

Victor: Yep. Thank you. So, what is this all about?

Summer: Um… we need your resources to, um, help track someone down. Carson, the emt from the night of the gala. We think that he could help my mom’s case, but we need to find him first.

Victor: So, you want my investigator to find a criminal to help another criminal, your mother? And by the way, you, mr. Baldwin, you left my employ to help diane jenkins, against my wishes.

Michael: Well, it was proven she was innocent. So, I did the right thing. That should pardon some of my sins.

Victor: How would that pardon phyllis’ sins? Why should I lift a finger for a woman who has caused so much hell and stress for my granddaughter?

Chance: So, rey and I pull up on the scene, right? It’s this possible burglary in process. Apparently what happened was this couple was walking into their house with groceries. The husband was telling the wife a joke, and after he hit the punchline, they heard somebody laugh upstairs.

Sharon: [ Gasps ] Oh, my gosh. No. How creepy.

Chance: Yeah. So, they drop their groceries, they run outside, they call the cops, right? Rey and I get there. We go upstairs and we find nothing but an open window and nothing stolen.

Sharon: Oh, too bad you didn’t catch the guy, but…

Chance: Yeah.

Sharon: At least nobody got hurt.

Chance: True. True. But the– the lesson here is, right, if you’re a burglar, don’t laugh.

[ Both laughing ] Come on. Come on. What’s up? Something wrong?

Sharon: Faith. She should have texted me by now to let me know she’s okay.

Victoria: Mom, I’m not trying to push nicholas out of the family company, if that’s what you’re asking. I love working with him. I do. I– would I prefer it if he kept his opinions about my personal life to himself? Of course, I would. But other than that, I love having him here working alongside us.

Nikki: Well, that’s very interesting, but you didn’t answer my question.

Victoria: Okay, then. Let me be more direct. If nick came to me and told me that he was leaving newman enterprises permanently, then yes. I would consider having nate take over as coo.

Kyle: Look, I don’t want to talk about this.

Daniel: Oh, I’m sure you don’T.

Kyle: I’ve got no problem with you. Okay? You’ve been decent through all of this. But this whole thing with summer lying and pretending not to know where phyllis was while framing my mom, it’s just too much.

Daniel: Hey, listen, man, I was furious with her, too. But when I spoke with her earlier, she was so stressed out. She’s not thinking straight. And I hate to say it, but when she feels like she has her back up against a wall, she’s a lot like our mother. And I’m worried that she’s gonna do something reckless thinking that it’s gonna help her.

Kyle: Daniel, as upset as I am with summer, I still love her. And the last thing I want is to see her hurt. But as far as you asking me to step in, I think you’re expecting too much.

Daniel: Why?

Kyle: Because it wouldn’t do any good. The way things are between summer and me, it’s pretty obvious my wife doesn’t give a damn what I say or do anymore.

Summer: Grandpa, this is my mom that we’re talking about. And I love her. And I know that you love me. Gosh, I just want her to be able to come home without a murder charge hanging over her head.

Michael: Victor, however this turns out, phyllis is not gonna be going home to a bed of roses. She has a lot of consequences to face for her actions. And so does carson. He has committed a multitude of crimes that he’ll have to answer for, which doesn’t make him the most credible witness, but at the moment, he’s all that phyllis has got.

Summer: Look, I’m not over what she did. Not at all. She made me and daniel suffer so much. But after thinking that my mom was gone forever, I just want her back home.

Victor: I understand how you feel, my darling. But every fiber of my body is against the notion of bringing phyllis back into this town. I mean, after all she has done, all the damage she has done to so many people, and most of all, to you.

Summer: Does that mean that–

Victor: Well, if you look at me like that, I’ll help you find carson.

[ Exhales in relief ]

Chance: Anything?

Sharon: No.

Chance: Maybe the flight got delayed.

Sharon: Faith would’ve said that to me. She would’ve told me that, too.

Chance: Look, we’ll give her a ring. See if she– see what the deal is. Call her.

[ Phone ringing ]

Sharon: Straight to voicemail.

Chance: Okay. Well, it could be airplane mode, right?

Sharon: No. Faith, she promised me, she promised she would check in. She wouldn’t neglect to do so.

Chance: Let me call swift, see what the deal is. Hold on.

[ Phone ringing ] It’s voicemail.

[ Sharon sniffling ] Oh, my god.

Chance: Hold on. Hold on.

Sharon: Chance!

Chance: Hold on, hold on. Give me a second.

[ Phone ringing ] Yeah. Hey, this is detective chancellor, genoa city pd. I need to know if a faith newman is on the passenger manifest for trans-global airlines flight 875. Yeah, I was scheduled to, uh– to leave genoa city a half hour ago. Yes. I’ll hold.

Sharon: I just– I don’t like this. I don’t like this one bit, chance. I don’t like this.

Chance: All right. Thank you.

[ Faith crying ] The flight took off. Faith wasn’t on board.

Sharon: No! No! No! [ Sobbing ] Chance!

Nikki: Your assistant told me you were covering for sharon.

Nick: Yeah. I’m just checking on a few things and I’m gonna get the staff up to speed, then I’m gonna head out to the ranch and check on sharon and faith.

Nikki: Have you calmed down since you went at it with your father?

Nick: Went at it, mom? Hardly. I’m just sick of dad’s fixation with sally. Not with cameron in town and making all these threats. Right now, sharon’s making sure that faith gets out of town herself and I think it’s breaking sharon’s heart.

Nikki: Honey, you really need to do something about that hand. It could be broken.

Nick: Will you leave me alone about my hand, mom?

[ Nick sighs ]

[ Cameron groans ]

Cameron: It– it’s kind of sweet how protective you are of your ex-wife. A little sad because she no longer wants or loves you, but super sweet.

Nick: You are gonna stay away from sharon and faith, and you will be gone by the morning

Cameron: Or what?

Nick: You don’t wanna find out.

[ Cameron chuckles ]

Abby: Oh, my gosh. Did you see dominic with that little hand drum?

Devon: I did.

[ Abby laughing ] It’s actually starting to sound like music.

Abby: Almost. Yeah. Uh-huh. Uh-huh.

Devon: Did you see that picture that tucker sent earlier of dominic in class waving his little wand around, trying out conducting? It’s the cutest thing in the world.

Abby: So cute. I think we might be a little bit biased though.

Devon: Oh, well. Definitely biased for sure.

Abby: I don’t know, I just, I can’t stop wondering.

Devon: Hm.

Abby: Tucker hasn’t missed a single music class and that is not easy on the eardrums. I mean, is he really just trying to prove to our family that he wants to be a part of all of this? If we should blame anyone, it’s phyllis. Kyle, I am so sorry. My– my heart aches for you because you have been badly hurt, but so has your wife at the hands of her own mother and that is really unfair. I– I– I think summer deserves our compassion and our forgiveness.

Kyle: You are… amazing.

Diane: Don’t say that. I’m not. I just know that you and summer have something that is really special and I– I don’t wanna see you toss your marriage aside just because her mother is a destructive narcissist. Kyle, I’m not even sure you realize how valuable and– and unique your relationship is, but I just, I don’t want you to lose someone who truly loves you.

Kyle: I– I just don’t know if I can turn the other cheek. There’s been too many lies and too many days of watching her suffer and blaming myself for not being what she needed. Summer didn’t just choose phyllis over you. She– she chose a lie over our marriage. How am I supposed to get past that?

Daniel: Okay. Okay. Let’s just take a breath here and decide our next move.

Summer: I can’t even think about that right now. I might have just lost my mom and my husband.

Daniel: I can’t do anything for you and kyle, but if we put our heads together, maybe we can figure out a way to help mom.

Summer: Everything that we have tried so far has completely failed.

Daniel: So we try again and we keep trying until we find something that works.

Summer: Daniel, she is facing murder charges and there is absolutely no way to prove that it was self-defense. Unless… what if there was a witness? Somebody that saw everything that went down between her and stark that night. Who– who is willing to corroborate her story that– that it was self-defense?

Daniel: Summer, there are no witnesses. Nobody else was there. You know that.

Summer: Yeah, but the police don’T. We’re the only ones who have actually talked to her. There’s a lot of details that the cops don’t know about and stark isn’t around to refute them.

Daniel: This does not sound very feasible.

Summer: Just listen to me. What if– what if– what if there was someone who was willing to come forward for the right price? Who– who is willing to swear that they saw everything?

Chance: Nick, you admitted that you went to the guy’s hotel room. You exchanged words. Your hand is beaten up. His face is beaten up. I have to take you in, man. I’m sorry.

Nick: Fine. I’ll go to the station when I’m ready. I’m gonna go to the ranch first and make sure that sharon and faith are safe.

Chance: No, I will make sure they’re safe, okay? I have to take you, man. Once you go through booking, make sure you call victor, get him on the phone.

Cameron: Sounds like somebody’s getting special treatment ’cause they got a special last name.

Chance: Shut up. Come oN. Come on. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to hire a lawyer and have one present with you while you are being questioned. If you cannot afford one, one will be appointed to you. Come on, come on, come on.

Announcer: Next week on the young and the restless…

Audra: Some people are afraid of their own desires. It’s like they’re ashamed to admit how badly they want something.

Sally: [ Groaning ] Ah!

Adam: What– what is it?

Sally: [ Groaning ] Oh, I don’t know.

Nick: What’s going on?

Sharon: It’s faith. He took her. He took our baby.
