Update written by Joseph

Ciara asks Ben what if they had a baby. Ben questions what she just said and asks if she’s serious about them having one.

Steve goes to the Kiriakis Mansion and meets Calista Lockhart. Calista flirts with him and says the pleasure is all her’s.

Justin goes to Kayla’s to bring Bonnie her makeup bag but Kayla informs him that Bonnie is not there yet. Justin questions that since Bonnie was coming by so Kayla could help her get ready for the wedding. Kayla guesses she’s just running a little late. Justin finds that strange since she left the house a while ago and should’ve been here by now.

EJ knocks on Xander’s door so Xander gets out of the shower and answers, complaining about him knocking so loudly, while Bonnie hides underneath the bed.

Jack questions Gwen about what Dr. Snyder was blackmailing her with to get her to agree to run drugs for him. Gwen says he has to understand that she never wanted to hurt him. Jack asks how she would hurt him. They are interrupted by Jack getting a call from Julie. Jack tries to say he’s in the middle of something but Julie tells him something that causes him to say he will be there as soon as he can. Jack hangs up so Gwen asks what’s wrong. Jack informs Gwen that they will finish this conversation later because Julie got locked in the freezer at Julie’s Place. Gwen says they will talk whenever then as Jack rushes out of the house. Gwen then exits as well.

EJ apologizes to Xander if he made his presence known a little too forcefully since he wasn’t answering, but he thought he’d like to see his employment contract, signed by Nicole. EJ says he would like his money first. Xander realizes that’s why he’s so enthusiastic. Xander says he will get his money once he’s sure that EJ did what he said he would do. EJ assures him that the contract is on the up and up. Xander says he’ll be the judge of that as he takes the contract to look it over. Xander tells EJ to sit tight as it might take awhile. Bonnie remains hiding under the bed.

Kayla feels Justin is acting like a nervous groom. Justin points out that it takes awhile for a bride to get ready for a wedding. Kayla says it depends on the bride. Justin says Bonnie is not one to rush through it and questions why she’s not here to start the process. Kayla encourages him not to worry. Justin says they both know that Bonnie can be unpredictable. Kayla decides she will track her down, so Justin thanks her.

EJ tells Xander to take as long as he needs but all the terms and conditions are clearly laid out. EJ assures that his contracts are iron clad so Nicole couldn’t back out of it. EJ adds that Nicole is on board with this deal and points out her signature and that everything is in order. Kayla calls Bonnie, causing Bonnie’s phone to ring from under the bed. EJ asks Xander if he heard that.

Calista explains to Steve that Bonnie was married to her brother David. Steve asks if they are close. Calista points out that she’s at her wedding and asks how Steve and Justin are related. Steve explains that Justin was married to his sister Adrienne until she passed away. Calista mentions losing her husband too. Steve asks what happened. Calista responds that he was murdered and the killer was never caught. Steve asks when that happened. Calista notes that he asks a lot of questions and it makes her wonder why he’s so interested in her.

Xander says he didn’t hear anything. EJ thought he heard a phone buzz but guesses it was a room next door. EJ asks if they have a deal or not. Xander says they do and signs the contract. EJ wants to open the briefcase to make sure the money is all there.

Kayla leaves Bonnie a message, saying that she and Justin are wondering where she is. Justin questions why she’s not picking up. Kayla suggests she could be at the hair salon. Justin argues that she would tell her that. Kayla decides to text Bonnie and says that she and Justin are wondering when she’s coming to the house. Kayla gets a text back from Bonnie, claiming that she’s hung up at the nail salon but will be there any minute. Kayla tells Justin that there is nothing to worry about.

Xander assures EJ that the cash is all there and it would be stupid to try and trick him now. EJ gets a business call and says he has to answer it outside. EJ warns Xander that if a penny is missing from the briefcase, he will back for his pound of flesh. EJ says it was a pleasure doing business as he takes the briefcase, answers his call, and exits the room. Xander declares tha the is back in business, then goes back to the bathroom to finish shaving. Bonnie then sneaks out from under the bed and runs out of the room with the stolen money in her purse.

Ciara questions why Ben looks so uncomfortable. Ben says he’s just surprised. Ciara says they have talked about having a baby before and asks if it’s really such a surprise that she brought it up. Ben says it just caught him off guard because they got married a week ago and are still on their honeymoon, so he’s surprised that she chose now to bring up such a big step for them. Ben thought they’d wait until they got back to reality in Salem. Ciara says she probably would have wanted to wait if it had actually been a week since they got married, but in every way that counts they have been married since last July and should’ve been together all this time if not for Eve, Vincent, Rhodes, and Evan. Ben acknowledges that they lost a year because of them. Ciara is thankful it was only a year, but now they are back together and have their entire future ahead of them. Ben questions what the rush is to have a kid now then. Ciara clarifies that she’s not in a rush but when she’s with him, she can’t help but to imagine a future with him and the dreams they share. Ciara reminds him of their dream of having a baby boy named Bo, but notes that she doesn’t care what the gender is as long as Ben is the father. Ciara declares that she finally has him back and they are finally together, so she can’t wait to make all those dreams come true, but only if he is also on board. Ben tells Ciara that when he had that dream of them having a baby together, he thought he lost her. Ciara says she’s here now so that doesn’t have to live in his head. Ben says it was just one of many dreams about all the things he wants them to share together and thought he would never have. Ciara asks if he doesn’t want those things anymore. Ben says of course not, but they were in his head and this is reality. Ben notes that a baby is a huge responsibility that costs a lot of money. Ciara says it’s not like they don’t make any income. Ben jokes that he’s not getting rich at the garage. Ciara suggests she could work at Titan again. Ben asks if she’d really want to do that since she only did before to prove Victor was framing her for Jordan’s murder. Ciara thinks she’d be really good at that job. Ben asks if Victor would really want her back in the company. Ciara assures that Victor forgave her for everything. Ben worries that Victor will use it against her one day but Ciara is sure that Victor will be on her side, especially if he finds out that she’s carrying his great grandchild.

Gwen goes to Xander’s room. Xander is surprised to see her as he thought they already said their goodbyes. Gwen confirms that they did. Xander reminds her that they can’t be together because Jack thinks he’s a scum of the earth drug dealer. Gwen acknowledges Jack’s article was harsh and says that’s actually why she is here. Xander doesn’t follow. Gwen explains that she couldn’t let Jack think those terrible things about him as it wasn’t fair. Xander says he’s used to people thinking he’s a terrible person. Gwen argues that he’s not because he helped her and kept her safe. Gwen reveals that she told Jack the truth that Xander has been covering for her. Gwen clarifies that she didn’t tell the whole story, just that Dr. Snyder was blackmailing her in to being his drug mule but then Julie called Jack for an emergency so she didn’t get to tell him why she was blackmailed. Gwen and Xander laugh about Julie being stuck in the freezer.

Jack rescues Julie from the freezer at Julie’s Place. Julie complains that she can’t feel her feet as Jack brings her hot tea to warm her up. Julie thanks him for rescuing her. Jack is sorry he didn’t get there sooner. Julie worries about if it was a few more minutes. Jack doesn’t understand how she ended up stuck in the freezer in the first place. Julie reveals that Doug locked her in the freezer. Jack questions why he would do that. Julie says he will have to ask him. Julie explains that they were setting up for dinner and she went back to the freezer but then got locked in. Jack suggests it was an accident but Julie says that Doug looked through the window of the freezer and walked away. Julie adds that she thought Doug must have gone for help but he never came back.

Ciara tells Ben that she gets that their life has been unstable, but they don’t have to be rich to have a baby as she’s pretty sure their jobs will be enough. Ben asks who is going to take care of the kid if they are both working. Ciara says she will work remotely sometimes and they will arrange hours or hire a nanny. Ben questions both working like crazy to earn enough but then hire someone to watch the baby while they are working. Ciara says they will make sacrifices but people do it all the time so they can manage. Ben questions setting the bar for parenting at managing. Ciara questions why Ben is arguing every point she makes and asks if she’s missing something or if he just doesn’t want to have a a baby with her.

Kayla tells Justin that the mystery is solved and Bonnie will show up with freshly painted nails. Justin is relieved and apologizes. Kayla doesn’t think there is anything to worry about. Justin admits he was more worried that Bonnie got cold feet. Kayla assures that Bonnie is crazy about him. Kayla adds that Bonnie went on and on about how much she loves him last night and she can’t wait to be his wife. Justin asks if Bonnie wasn’t concerned at all. Kayla says not about him, but she was worried about Calista.

Calista tells Steve that she doesn’t mind his questions since it’s been awhile since she’s been showered with attention by such a handsome man. Steve says he’s just a curious guy. Calista asks about Steve’s eye patch and how he lost his eye. Steve reveals it was in a knife fight. Calista calls that dramatic and sexy. Calista mentions that weddings put her in a certain mood and invites Steve upstairs, claiming she’s getting a vibe between them. Steve then reveals that he’s married to the matron of honor and very happy. Calista says she understands but jokes that she won’t tell if he won’t.

Ben tells Ciara that he does want to have a baby with her. Ciara feels it really doesn’t seem like it. Ben says that’s only because he’s spent the entire year wanting to do anything to have one more minute with her, so now he’s trying to soak it all up because he knows every moment with her is a gift and he loves being with her, just the two of them. Ciara asks if he thinks a baby is going to ruin that. Ben says he’s just worried about skipping steps. Ciara says she gets that as they think they have all this time, but they don’t know how much time they will have. Ben adds that no one understands that better than he does, but being with her like this on their honeymoon is the happiest he’s ever been in his entire life. Ben says he may be selfish, but he’s not ready to give that up yet. Ciara tells him the honeymoon won’t last forever. Ben jokes that it can last a little bit longer as he kisses her. Ben adds that he lost her for too damn long, so now he wants her all to himself. Ciara questions him not wanting to have the baby conversation at all. Ben asks if it would be alright to postpone talking now.

Justin asks Kayla about Bonnie’s concerns with Calista. Kayla says she doesn’t know but Bonnie was upset, and when she asked her about it, she just said it was Calista. Justin brings up Bonnie being really jumpy when Calista barged in to their bedroom. Justin says he’s still a little unclear about their relationship. Justin asks if he should talk to Bonnie about this before the wedding. Kayla says it’s his call but she doesn’t think there is anything to worry about since Bonnie is completely in love with him. Justin says the feeling is mutual which makes Kayla happy. Justin admits he never saw her coming, but now he can’t imagine his life without her. Justin knows it took Kayla and Steve awhile to come around on Bonnie after what she did to Adrienne. Kayla notes that was a long time ago and they think Bonnie has completely changed. Justin says it means a lot to him that they approve. Kayla jokes that Bonnie will always be quirky but she doesn’t think she’s the same woman who tried to destroy Adrienne’s life and break every law. Kayla believes Bonnie has turned her life around and that maybe motivated by Justin’s love and kindness. Kayla thinks that Bonnie is truly a good person.

Bonnie returns to the Kiriakis Mansion to find Calista trying to make a move on Steve and questions what is going on here. Calista says they were just getting better acquainted. Steve asks what Bonnie is doing here when she’s supposed to be getting dressed at the wedding at Kayla’s. Bonnie says she got hung up so she never made it to Kayla and figured it would be faster to get dressed here. Steve points out that she forgot her makeup bag so Justin was on his way over to Kayla’s to take it to her. Steve offers to call Kayla but Bonnie decides that Calista can help her get dressed. Bonnie asks Steve to call Justin and telling him to bring her makeup bag back. Calista and Bonnie then head upstairs.

Jack asks Julie if she’s sure that Doug saw her in the freezer. Julie says they made eye contact and the Doug she knows would never lock her in the freezer. Julie doesn’t know where Doug is now and thinks something is terribly wrong.

Xander asks Gwen if Julie is alright. Gwen assures that Jack went to rescue her. Xander asks if Gwen is going to tell Jack that her miscarriage happened before her fall down the stairs and had nothing to do with her fight with Abigail. Xander notes that it’s a big risk. Gwen doesn’t think she has any other way out of this. Xander adds that Jack won’t react well. Gwen worries that Jack will be so disappointed in her since he’s worked so hard to bring her in to his family and make up for lost time. Gwen doesn’t think Jack will ever be able to look at her the same. Xander argues that she doesn’t have to do it but Gwen feels she can’t let Jack keep posting nasty stories about him that are untrue, as it will hurt his reputation. Xander mentions the million dollars he spent on his defense. EJ then knocks on the door, demanding Xander open the door and calling him a thief.

Justin is glad that Kayla thinks Bonnie has turned over a new leaf. Kayla confirms that she does and she trusts Justin’s judgment. They joke about Justin being Bonnie’s lawyer and husband as Justin says they don’t want anything connected to the wedding to feel awkward. Kayla acknowledges that it’s strange that she is Bonnie’s matron of honor and Steve is his best man, but she feels the winding road led them to where they really should be. Justin agrees. Kayla feels they had help from above as she’d like to think Adrienne is smiling down on all of them.

Xander opens the door as EJ questions what the hell he’s tryin to pull. EJ opens the briefcase and shows him that it’s empty. Xander doesn’t understand. EJ tells him not to act surprised. Xander knows the money was there this morning. EJ asks if he left it unattended. Xander assures that it’s been with him the whole day. EJ declares that if he’s not lying, then someone stole it because a million dollars doesn’t just walk away on it’s own.

Bonnie brings Calista to her room and gives her the money. Calista says it’s about time and talks about how sexy Steve is. Bonnie asks her to stop and complains that she almost got caught stealing the money, so she would’ve been thrown in prison on her wedding day. Bonnie talks about hiding under a bed while worrying how disappointed Justin would be. Calista jokes about the kind of woman Justin is marrying. Bonnie argues that she’s not a crook anymore. Calista remarks that she had to live with the consequences of stealing her money. Bonnie says that was years ago and she told Justin that she’s done with that life, so she prays he never finds out about this. Calista says he won’t hear from her as she will just take the money and be on her way. Bonnie stops her and says that she’s not going anywhere until she gives her the gun.

Ciara tells Ben that if he’s not ready to have the baby conversation then they can postpone it, because she wants to spend as much time as she can with him too. Ben asks if she’s sure she’s not upset. Ciara says she was just excited for them, finally having a future and being back together with nothing to stop them. Ben promises he’s excited too and he wants to have a baby with her, just not right now. Ciara says she understands and asks why skip steps when each one is so perfect. Ciara decides they should focus on getting to New Orleans if he’s ready to hit the road. Ben agrees that they are on to their next adventure. They say I love you to each other and kiss.

Julie tries calling Doug but he’s not answering. Julie worries about where he could be. Jack assures they will find him. Julie admits she’s getting scared as she has no idea why he would leave her like this. Julie wonders if something awful has happened to him.

EJ complains that he’s out a million dollars. Xander argues that there must be a reasonable explanation. EJ threatens to send Xander to prison and rips up his contract, saying he can forget about his job. EJ then storms out of the room. Gwen asks Xander if he scammed EJ. Xander assures that he was telling the truth as he thought the money was in the briefcase and he never let it out of his sight. Gwen asks if he let anyone else in. Xander remembers Bonnie coming over and admits that someone else was there.

Kayla gets a call from Steve and tells him that Justin is here and they are still waiting on Bonnie. Steve states that she asked him to tell her that she’s not coming because she came back and decided to get ready at the house with Calista. Steve informs Kayla that he met Calista and admits he didn’t get a great vibe.

Bonnie demands Calista give her the gun. Calista says she’s sorry but she’s not getting the gun. Calista then turns the gun to Bonnie and declares that she’s getting the bullet.

Recap written by Christine

At Crimson Lights on the patio, Nick told Devon that the launch was a huge success, and Adam brought up the New Hope tie in in his opening speech. Devon was sorry he missed the party. Nick understood Devon had a lot going on after delivering a baby. He called Devon a hero.

At the hospital, Mariah asked Abby if there was news on Stitch. There wasn’t, but Abby didn’t think he’d risk coming back here, now that he had Max with him. Tessa said he’d better not, if he knew what was good for him. Mariah was on edge, and Abby assured her that Devon hired extra security for the house, so she’d be safe. “And Dominic will be too,” Mariah said. Later, Abby was out of the room. Mariah was anxious about leaving. She felt safe here in the hospital, with Bowie right down the hall. When they left, she’d have to remember to call him Dominic. Tessa knew it’d be difficult, but they were still living at the Chancellor house, so they’d be able to see the baby every day. Mariah felt better knowing he’d be close by so she could see and watch over him. Abby returned and said “The paperwork’s all taken care of. Now, let’s bring our baby boy home.”

The Chancellor mansion was decorated in baby blue for Dominic’s arrival. Victor asked Sharon how Mariah was doing, and Sharon admitted it’d been rough. Victor vowed that what Mariah did for Abby wouldn’t be forgotten. Nina and Ashley arrived together. They were grateful their grandson was alive after what Stitch put him through. Nina wished she could talk to Chance. Victor wished he were here to welcome his son home. Nina knew Chance would want them to have a joyous and memorable homecoming for Abby, the baby and Mariah. Victor welcomed Ashley to the grandparents’ club. Devon came with a lot of gifts, but he didn’t plan to stay, because he didn’t want to crowd Abby and Mariah on their special day. Sharon thought Devon should stay, because it was a special moment for him too. Abby, Dominic, Mariah and Tessa arrived. Abby introduced Dominic to his grandparents. The others watched from a distance, and Mariah tried to put on a brave face. Later, everyone sat down in the living room, and Devon gave Mariah credit for protecting Dominic. This sparked a discussion about what Mariah had been through. Ashley said it wasn’t like the Ben Rayburn she knew. Nina asked if Mariah had any idea why Ben held her captive. Mariah didn’t know, and she seemed uncomfortable, so Tessa said she was taking her outside for air. They left. Ashley and Nina thought Mariah was strong and courageous. Sharon was proud of Mariah, but she said they couldn’t disregard the severity of what she’d been through.

In the park, Mariah confided in Tessa that she couldn’t seem to let go. She was just supposed to be an incubator, a carrier, and it was supposed to be simple to just walk away. Tessa thought it made sense for Mariah to struggle after everything she’d been through. Mariah agreed and said maybe, if she weren’t locked away with Bowie… Dominic, fighting to survive, she wouldn’t have this connection. But she was locked away, and she did have that connection. Tessa thought that was natural. “I was literally his only lifeline, and he was mine. We needed each other to survive. And I think Dominic feels that too,” Mariah stated.

Ashley, Nina and Devon watched Abby walk around rocking her baby. “No one is ever gonna take you from me again,” she said.

Billy ran into Victoria at Crimson Lights and told her she missed a doozy of a party. She observed that he didn’t have any bruises. He said he’d behaved, but there was a new troublemaker in town who wasn’t afraid to take on the big dogs. He brought Victoria up to speed. She thought Adam and Sally deserved one another, and she laughed about Phyllis dousing Sally with ice water. For the first time, she was siding with Phyllis, because of what Sally did to Summer. She didn’t regret missing the party, because she spent quality time with their children. He said Nick told him that she missed the party because Ashland had a hard time after chemotherapy. He hoped Ashland was okay. She noted that he was going full steam ahead on this story, which was supposed to be about Tara, but the investigation had zeroed in on Ashland instead. She said that he professed to be supportive, but he was focusing on Ashland, and not the criminal, Tara. He said he’d always support her and the children. She appreciated that, but she said Ashland wasn’t the enemy. Victoria knew Billy would overplay anything negative that his reporters turned up. Billy stated that Ashland was hiding something big, and he thought Victoria sensed it too.

Billy told Victoria to be honest – how much did she really know about Ashland’s past, particularly his early business days. “So, it was you digging around in Ashland’s past. Lily wouldn’t admit it outright,” she said. Victoria snapped that if you dug in anyone’s past long enough, you’d find someone willing to trash them. He thought there were legitimate questions about how Ashland paid for those TV stations and the nature of his relationship with that older wealthy mentor. “Stay out of Ashland’s life. Stay out of our lives,” Victoria ordered. She walked out as Billy questioned her about what Ashland was hiding. Nick came inside and asked what that was about. Billy thought he hit a nerve.

Billy said he questioned Victoria until she stormed out. Nick said his sister didn’t like to be challenged. Billy thought Victoria was more worried about Ashland than she wanted to admit. Nick said that Victoria might be annoyed with Billy prying. Billy noted that Victoria didn’t know where Ashland got the money to buy the station. Nick suggested the mentor gave it to him. Billy was skeptical about an off-the-books deathbed favor. Nick said Billy had nothing besides this deep desire to find something damning on Ashland. Billy was adamant that this was about protecting his children, not jealousy. He was sure that Victoria could take Ashland on with her hands tied behind her back, as long as she had the facts. Billy was arguing his point when Victor walked in and said this was none of Billy’s business. Billy thought they were on the same page here, but Victor doubted that. Victor heard from an employee that Billy was sneaking around his private suite last night. He said not to do it again. Billy told Nick to think about what he said, and he left. “You didn’t want Billy to know that I was the one who told you about the break in,” Nick stated. Victor said no, because he needed information from Billy’s sources, and he didn’t want to cut that off. Nick knew Billy would do everything he could to prevent Ashland from hurting Victoria. He added that, so far, Billy seemed open to keeping him in the loop. Victor couldn’t stand Billy, but they couldn’t afford to lose access to the information that he was gathering. Nick said that Billy’s investigators hadn’t found anything Victor’s hadn’t, so far. Victor decided not to destroy ChancComm until he found out what he wanted to know about Ashland Locke. Nick was okay playing the double agent, getting information from Billy and taking it back to Victor. There was something about Ashland that Victor didn’t trust, and he wanted all the information before the wedding, if there was a wedding.

Ashland bumped into Nate at Society and told him that the supplements were helping. To repay the favor, Ashland wrote a large check. Victoria told him that Nikki was helping Nate fund raise for a hospital wing. “Consider this half a wing,” Ashland said. Nate appreciated the generosity, but he hoped Ashland didn’t think he treated him in hopes of getting money. Ashland still wanted to repay Nate’s kindness. Nate wanted to at least give Ashland a proper pitch on how the hospital would use the new wing. Ashland suggested they discuss it over drinks with the women in their lives, and Nate accepted. Victoria walked in as Nate was leaving.

Victoria told Ashland she’d had a run in with Billy. She then praised Ashland’s generous donation to Memorial and wished that everyone could see this side of him. He only cared what she saw in him. She said that if Billy knew about this, he might see Ashland differently. Victoria mentioned that Billy kept questioning how Ashland bought the news stations to start his career. She asked if there was anything he wasn’t telling her, something Billy might dig up and use against him. She assured him he could be honest with her. As the daughter of Victor Newman, there was nothing that Ashland could say that would shock her. She hoped he knew he could trust her. He did trust her. He’d been ruthless, but he never broke the law, and he defied Billy and anyone else to prove otherwise.

Adam was on a jog through the park, but he stopped when he saw Sally bending over, lacing her shoes. She turned around and saw him. She was awkward, and he told her to relax. She couldn’t, because after that kiss, which he said couldn’t happen again, she was wondering what he thought of her. He claimed that he thought the awkwardness was because she got into it with Phyllis. Sally maintained that Phyllis deserved to get a drink thrown in her face. He said the night was a success, even with the side of drama. He assured Sally that they were good. Chloe walked up and overheard Sally ask Adam to dinner. She didn’t approve.

Chloe walked up and said hi to Sally and Adam. Deciding Chloe should hear it from her, Sally revealed that she got into it with Phyllis. Chloe wasn’t surprised. Smirking, Adam gave Chloe the details. Chloe thought that Adam should’ve kept an eye on Sally and Phyllis to make sure this didn’t happen. He commented that she could always find a reason to blame him. Chloe asked what kind of damage control they’d need to do, and Sally said, fortunately, the press didn’t know about this, and no one posted a video online. She credited Adam’s PR management, but he said it was mostly dumb luck. He told Chloe to ask Sally about the idea she came up with last night at the launch. He left. Chloe had a sense of what Sally’s idea was.

Sally didn’t know what Chloe was insinuating, but she insisted that nothing happened between her and Adam last night. Chloe saw the pictures of Sally arriving on Adam’s arm. Sally said it was innocent, but Chloe said there was no such thing where Adam was concerned. She noted that Sally played with fire, even after all the warnings, and she asked how far it went. Sally admitted she and Adam shared an impulsive kiss that didn’t go further. Chloe was glad Sally hit the brakes. Sally clarified that she initiated the kiss, and Adam stopped it because he said he was toxic. Sally thought the fact that Adam acknowledged he had a problem signaled growth. Chloe said Adam was uniquely diabolical, and no matter how strong Sally thought he was, he’d find a way to wreck her. Sally contended that she held her own against Phyllis, which she thought meant she could deal with difficult people. Chloe praised healthy relationships instead of being with difficult people. Sally thought that sounded a little boring. Chloe realized Sally wouldn’t take her advice on this. Chloe said that life for Adam’s son Connor hadn’t been easy, and he still thought his parents were in a relationship, so whatever connection Sally thought she had with Adam, it would get harder before it got easier.

Adam and Sally ran into each other again at The Grand Phoenix. He’d had a meeting, and he hoped she didn’t think he was stalking her. It never crossed her mind. She was there to change at the gym, since it was closer than going home. Plus, she’d take any opportunity to tick Phyllis off. Sally shifted gears. Her job was important, so she thought she and Adam should hit the reset button and act like the kiss never happened. Adam assumed Chloe had something to do with this. Sally stated that she took Chloe’s repeated warnings about Adam with a grain of salt until today. She mentioned what Chloe said about Connor. Sally didn’t want to hurt Adam’s little boy. Adam said Connor always came first, and that was a big reason why he put the brakes on with Sally. He guessed that meant she was rescinding her dinner invitation, but she said it could be a working dinner. He thought about it and agreed. Chelsea called, so he stepped away to take it.

Elena looked over her contract at ChancComm. She mentioned to Lily that Newman Media tried to offer her a job. Lily couldn’t believe they’d tried to poach Elena, and she said she guessed the competition had begun. Lily grumbled about how low Newman Media stooped. Elena said it was fine, she was signing this contract, and she didn’t entertain Victor’s offer. Lily promised Elena’s loyalty would be repaid. Elena admired Lily for stepping into this high powered position with poise and grace. Elena was curious about something, but then she decided not to be intrusive, because Lily was her boss. Lily said she was off the clock, and they were going to go out and have girl talk.

Lily and Elena went to the Crimson Lights Patio. Lily said the best part was being able to give jobs to some of the women she was in prison with and seeing them turn their lives around. She was grateful to be able to be part of that. Elena couldn’t imagine how hard that was for Lily. Lily said the hardest part was not seeing her family. Her family was together again. She hoped her kids would come home, and she was glad Devon and Nate made peace. Elena felt guilty about her part in that. Lily said Elena played a large part in helping them reconcile, and she was glad Elena was part of the family. Elena said that they sort of had a baby in the family. Having gone through the surrogacy thing, herself, she really believed everything would be fine.

Update written by Joseph

Ben and Ciara lay together inside of a tent. They talk about their honeymoon and camping out under the stars as they kiss.

Gwen sits at home with her tablet, reading the Spectator article about Xander getting off free despite the drug charges and the death of Dr. Snyder. The article alleges that Xander paid EJ to pull some strings and the citizens must fight this abuse of power to put Xander behind bars. Gwen remarks that Xander is being publicly crucified for something he didn’t even do. Gwen knows they promised not to see each other, but she pulls out her phone. Jack then walks in and asks if everything is okay. Gwen informs him that she just read the hatchet job he did on Xander and asks how could he.

Xander wakes up in bed and thinks back to kissing Gwen until he’s interrupted by a knock at the door. Xander gets up hoping that Gwen is back but it’s EJ. EJ shows him the article and says it’s a complete hatchet job but he thought Jack was his friend. Xander says not anymore. EJ informs Xander that he came to collect his million dollars.

Steve gets dressed for the wedding while Kayla is on the couch, not feeling well. Steve remarks that it must have been some bachelorette party. Kayla asks what she was thinking by letting Bonnie talk her in to doing shots when she should’ve been smart like he and Justin. Steve says they just had a couple beers and smoked cigars. Kayla says she would’ve rather done that than throw vodka down her throat. Steve points out that last night, she said she had a great time. Kayla says last night she was feeling no pain, but doesn’t think she could say the same about Bonnie. Kayla mentions that Bonnie wasn’t bubbling over with excitement as there was definitely something bothering her.

Justin and Bonnie are in bed together. Justin says he told her that she didn’t have to worry about the bad luck of the bride and groom not seeing each other on their wedding day, because they spent the night together and are waking up together but nothing bad has happened. Calista then walks in and declares there is not going to be a wedding, unless Justin wants to marry a murderer.

Gwen can’t believe Jack would write that about Xander as she thought he was his friend. Jack argues that Xander is the one who ruined their friendship. Gwen questions him slamming him and destroying his reputation. Jack calls him a career criminal. Gwen feels he should’ve handled this privately. Jack says it’s his job to expose corruption and Xander is as corrupt as they come. Jack adds that he teamed up with Dr. Snyder to push pills on the street and then he dumped his partner’s body. Jack argues that Gwen could’ve ended up dead or in jail but Xander hired EJ to use his influence to make it all go away. Gwen thinks Jack could’ve hired a reporter to tell the story so that they would’ve all just moved on and forgotten about it, but Jack had to scream on the editorial page, so now everyone thinks Xander is a monster and he doesn’t deserve this. Jack shouts that Xander risked her life and questions why the hell she is defending him.

EJ tells Xander that he could sue Jack for libel, but he’s not doing him any more legal favors until he gets his money back. EJ orders him to hand it over. Xander reminds him that he will, after he gets his job back at Basic Black. EJ assures that he will have his contract today, but warns that he better not have one penny missing. Xander says the money will be there so EJ says he’ll be back and exits.

Bonnie’s nightmare continues of Calista revealing to Justin that Bonnie murdered Calista’s husband and then Justin calling the wedding off. Bonnie then wakes up in a panic. Justin asks her what’s going on and what’s wrong. Bonnie tells him it was horrible as someone showed up out of nowhere and ruined their wedding. Justin tells her it was just a bad dream and everything is going to be fine as he hugs her. Justin hugs her until Calista walks in and declares that she has something for Bonnie, just like in her dream.

Ben pulls out the book of poems that Shawn gave them. Ciara calls it a lovely wedding gift. Ben says he was going through it and found a Shakespeare sonnet that hit home for him, reminding him of where he was in his life before he met her and where he is now because of her.

Kayla declares that she’s never drinking vodka again. Steve asks how Bonnie must be feeling since he’s sure she knocked back her share too. Kayla says she tried to warn her that she wouldn’t want a hangover on her wedding day but she wouldn’t listen as there was definitely something bothering her and she was determined to get smashed. Steve asks if she thinks Bonnie is getting cold feet. Kayla is sure she can’t wait to marry Justin. Kayla says something is bothering her, but all she would say is that it had to do with Calista Lockhart. Steve questions who the hell that is.

Calista informs Bonnie that she has a present for her. Bonnie says she doesn’t need any presents but Calista calls it the perfect thing for her wedding. Calista reveals it belongs to her late husband, Harrison Lord. Bonnie says she doesn’t need any presents and thinks she should keep it. Justin says they have a big day ahead of them so he’s going to start getting ready. Justin kisses Bonnie and says he will meet her downstairs for breakfast. After Justin exits, Calista asks Bonnie where her money is. Bonnie responds that she doesn’t have it. Calista questions why the hell not, since she told her to get it from Xander at the Salem Inn since he’s sitting on a million dollars which is exactly what she owes her.

Xander opens his briefcase of a million dollars and declares that EJ better come through with that contract, or he’s not getting a damn dime.

EJ goes to the Basic Black office where Nicole informs him that she read Jack’s article and he didn’t paint EJ in a very flattering light. EJ responds that he’s not worried about that in the least. EJ says it’s better to be feared than respected. EJ informs Nicole that he’s come to discuss a personnel matter as he would like her to give Xander his job back. Nicole tells him that will happen over her dead body. EJ reminds her that he’s the co-CEO of the company and he’s telling her to hire Xander back. Nicole asks if Chad signed off on this. EJ says to forget Chad, as she answers to him. EJ presents Nicole the contract and orders her to sign it, but Nicole says no. Nicole knows EJ has been out of the game but reminds him of the terms of her contract, because it includes a provision that states the executives in charge of Basic Black have full autonomy over all personnel decisions. Nicole is confident that she can speak for Brady when she says there is no way in hell that they are hiring Xander.

Jack questions why Gwen would hire Xander after what he did to her. Gwen thinks back to Xander covering for her. Gwen tells Jack that she already explained that she sympathizes with Xander, because she knows what it’s like to be in his situation. Jack questions it being okay to drag Gwen in to his criminal enterprise because he’s broke, putting everyone under this roof in danger. Jack asks how she can excuse that. Gwen says she just understands it. Jack complains that he doesn’t. Gwen asks what he wants from her. Jack wants the truth about her and Xander.

Kayla informs Steve that Calista is Bonnie’s sister in law. Steve notes that he’s never heard of her. Kayla doesn’t think they have seen each other for a long time, then Calista showed up out of the blue so Bonnie got carried away and invited her to the wedding. Kayla adds that Calista’s husband was named Harrison Lord. Steve jokes about the similarities in names between Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford. Kayla thinks that Bonnie said Harrison is dead. Steve asks what Calista is like but Kayla says she wasn’t there last night. Steve questions Calista coming all the way to Salem for the wedding, but not going to the bachelorette party. Kayla thinks there is some kind of bad blood between them. Steve suggests maybe that’s why Bonnie was so nervous last night. Kayla felt like Bonnie was dying to say it but never did. Kayla says Bonnie would just clam up and order another drink. Steve wonders what that was about.

Calista reminds Bonnie that she saw Xander walk in to the Salem Inn, carrying a briefcase with a million dollars, and asks why she didn’t steal it. Bonnie says she couldn’t as she can’t risk going back to prison. Calista remarks that Justin doesn’t know the real person he’s marrying. Bonnie assures that he knows all about her past and believes she has changed, so now they are in love. Bonnie screams that it’s her wedding day and has a lot on her mind so she asks if she can pay her later. Calista declares that she screwed her once so she’s not going to let it happen again. Calista warns that she only has a couple hours or else she will show Justin the gun and her love story will be over.

Ciara reads the poem that Ben shows her. Ben relates to being an outcast and alone when he first met her. Ciara has Ben continue reading it. Ben says it’s exactly how he feels about her, because when they are together, he wouldn’t trade places with anybody in the world. Ciara feels the same as they kiss.

Nicole questions why EJ would want to hire Xander when he’s a nightmare to work with. Nicole says if she goes along with this, EJ will live to regret it. EJ questions regretting getting his money back as he reveals that Sami paid Xander a million dollars to expose her. Nicole complains that she knew it even when he wouldn’t admit it before. EJ says the point is, there’s no way he’s letting either of them get away with it. Nicole says to leave her out of it. EJ explains that Xander won’t give him his money back unless he gets him his job back. Nicole repeats that she won’t work with him. EJ says that Xander was paid a small fortune to do what he did and asks if she’s okay with that. Nicole asks how EJ would feel if she told him to hire Lucas. EJ calls it not the same but Nicole feels it’s similar. Nicole declares that she won’t work with the person who destroyed her marriage. EJ argues that they all have to put up with colleagues they don’t like. Nicole says she doesn’t dislike Xander, she hates him with every fiber of her being as he is a living and breathing reminder of the worst mistake of her life. Nicole says she’s not going to work with him and asks if EJ really needs the money. EJ calls it a principle as he can’t let Sami win. Nicole responds that she can’t let Xander win. EJ tells her to suit herself, but warns that if she doesn’t sign the contract, she’s fired.

Justin joins Calista in the living room. Calista says Bonnie said to make herself at home and calls it a fabulous home. Justin is surprised that Calista is here when Bonnie has never even mentioned her before. Calista says they haven’t been in contact since her husband died, but she wouldn’t miss Bonnie’s wedding for the world. Justin asks where Bonnie is anyways since they were supposed to have breakfast together. Calista informs him that she just left and said she had an important errand to run.

Bonnie goes to Xander’s room at the Salem Inn and claims she came to invite him to her and Justin’s wedding. Xander finds that a little weird even for her. Bonnie tells him to just say yes but Xander says not until he figures out what’s really going on. Xander asks what he’s missing.

Gwen tells Jack that the truth is, Xander is not the terrible person that he thinks he is. Gwen reminds him that Jack told her to give him a chance. Jack says that’s before he turned her in to his drug mule. Gwen argues that he can’t just write Xander off. Gwen reminds Jack of all the terrible things she did to him and his family, but he forgave her. Jack argues that Gwen is his daughter and she’s proved that she’s changed while Xander is the same selfish, deceitful liar he’s always been. Gwen says that’s not true. Jack continues to question how she can feel sorry for him. Gwen relates to feeling like she had no choice. Jack says if he was in that much trouble, he could’ve come to him but he didn’t and now he’s compounded his deceit by manipulating the justice system and he can’t stand for that. Gwen asks what more he can do. Jack says the article was just the beginning as he knows there’s a lot more to the story. Jack hopes they can get the charges reinstated against Xander and he can go to prison where he belongs. Gwen pleads with him not to, saying she doesn’t want him to cross paths with the DiMeras because they are ruthless. Jack says Chad’s his son in law and shouts that he’s not afraid of EJ. Jack declares that Xander is guilty as sin and he needs to pay. Gwen stops him and tells Jack that he’s wrong because Xander is not guilty, she is the one who is guilty.

Ben tells Ciara that being together like this is more amazing because she’s his wife again. Ciara agrees so Ben suggests they stay like this forever. Ciara is really excited to show him New Orleans. Ciara says last time she was there, she was a kid, but even then she knew it was an amazing place. Ciara talking about it makes Ben want to get there. Ciara wants to make breakfast first as they kiss.

Nicole tells EJ that this is the second time he has threatened to fire her since being back. EJ says he was riled up the first time, but he’s calm now. EJ says he doesn’t want to fire her because she is good at what she does. Nicole asks how she can be good at what she does if she’s working with someone she hates. EJ calls hatred a powerful motivator. EJ suggests she use it to make Xander’s life a living hell since Brady and Chloe will side with her. EJ bets that Nicole could get Xander to quit by the end of the year. EJ tells Nicole to just sign the contract.

Kayla complains that her head is still pounding. Steve asks if she’s sure she’ll be okay for the wedding and suggests she call in sick. Kayla says she couldn’t do that to Bonnie and that she’s coming over soon to get ready. Steve decides he should get to the Kiriakis Mansion to see if Justin has any last minute requests for his best dude. Steve kisses Kayla and she says she’ll see him in a bit.

Justin asks if Calista is upset about something. Calista doesn’t want to be a downer on his wedding day but says it’s so hard to be happy for other people who were just skirting their lives together. Justin mentions losing his wife. Calista says she’s sorry. Justin asks about Calista’s husband, Harrison. Calista says he was taken from her far too soon, murdered for his money, leaving her a widow and they got away with it. Justin remembers her mentioning that. Calista thinks a criminal like that should be brought to justice.

Bonnie tells Xander that she was just on her way to Kayla’s and decided to pop by here first. Xander asks if she ran this by Justin. Bonnie insists that Justin would want him there since he’s his cousin, so she suggests he just get in the shower and get to the house. Bonnie says she won’t take no for an answer. Xander actually feels awkward. Bonnie feels he’ll be the life of the party. Xander then agrees to be there. Bonnie says she will see him soon then and steals Xander’s key card on her way out the door. Xander then heads to the shower.

Gwen tells Jack that she’s the one who is guilty. Gwen reveals that Xander lied when he said he was the one delivering drugs for Dr. Snyder and that he brought her in. Gwen says that Xander just did that to cover for her. Jack goes over Xander saying that Snyder was his business partner. Gwen insists it’s not true as they never worked together, it was Snyder and her, so she was the one delivering drugs. Gwen says she wanted to stop but he wouldn’t let her and one day she was completely fed up, so he showed up with a package and she told him to find somebody else to do his dirty work then Xander walked in and started defending her. Gwen explains that Xander was trying to get her out of this horrible mess that she had gotten in to, and then Dr. Snyder just dropped dead right in front of them. Gwen says that’s when things got really complicated, so she is not an innocent victim in this, but the one who got Xander in to this whole mess. Gwen tells Jack that she’s so sorry and that he must think she’s a terrible person. Jack responds that he’s confused and asks why she would agree to run drugs for Dr. Snyder in the first place. Jack thinks she’s just trying to get him to write a retraction and refuses to do it. Jack doesn’t get the 180 she has done on Xander and argues that for the longest time, they couldn’t stand each other. Jack then stops and remembers Julie walking in on them on the couch, which Gwen said was a momentary lapse of judgment. Gwen says they aren’t talking about that and that’s beside the point, but Julie is right that Xander did lie to him. Gwen explains that Xander didn’t want Jack to know that she was running drugs so he wouldn’t think less of her. Gwen states that Xander was trying to protect her relationship with Jack. Gwen declares that Xander lied, so she wouldn’t have to tell the truth. Jack asks what it is the truth and questions why she would agree to run drugs for Dr. Snyder. Gwen says he forced her to by blackmailing her. Jack asks what he was holding over her.

Calista tells Justin that they are talking grand larceny and murder and that person should pay. Justin thinks anyone proven guilty in a court of law should pay. Calista complains that they didn’t and it makes her blood boil. Justin encourages that in time, the anger and pain will be less acute and she’ll be less about the past and more hopeful about the future. Calista agrees to drink to that. Justin notices Bonnie’s makeup bag and suggests Calista bring it to her, so she can meet the matron of honor, Kayla. Calista says she’s had a couple drinks and is tired from her trip so she shouldn’t drive. Justin agrees and decides to take care of it himself and exits.

Bonnie sneaks back in to Xander’s room using the stolen key card while he is in the shower. Bonnie opens up Xander’s briefcase and steals the one million dollars, stuffing all of the money in to her purse. EJ then shows up at the door, knocking and calling for Xander to open up.

Ben and Ciara eat breakfast together outside. Ciara looks her bag and realizes that she is out of birth control pills. Ben is sure there is a pharmacy in between here and New Orleans, so they can just have her doctor call in a prescription. Ciara then says or not. Ben is not sure what that means. Ciara asks what if she didn’t refill her prescription. Ben asks if she’s saying she wants to use a different kind of birth control. Ciara clarifies that maybe they shouldn’t worry about that. Ciara asks Ben what if they have a baby.

Steve goes to the Kiriakis Mansion looking for Justin but Calista informs him that Justin is not there. Calista tells Steve that it looks like it’s just them.

Justin goes to Kayla’s. Kayla asks if everything is okay. Justin says he just came by to bring Bonnie her makeup bag but Kayla reveals that Bonnie is not here.

EJ continues knocking on Xander’s door, asking if he’s in there. Xander shouts out from the shower to hold his horses as he’s coming, leaving Bonnie trapped inside trying to steal the money.

Young & The Restless Update

Y&R logo

Recap written by Christine

The party continued at The Grand Phoenix. Nick had just witnessed Jack drying Phyllis with a handkerchief. He looked at Phyllis, with her wet hair and makeup running down her face, and asked what was going on. Phyllis excused herself to prepare for the presentation. Nick turned to Jack, who’d been standing with them, and asked what happened.

Phyllis gave her team instructions through the headset. Victor approached and brought up the spectacle she made with Sally. Phyllis noted that Sally threw a drink in her face. He asked Phyllis to kindly refrain from any other antics. She couldn’t be responsible for who Adam escorted here. She said Sally was trouble. Victor told Phyllis to behave. He didn’t want to regret having his party here. She thought he should regret hiring Sally. He noted that Phyllis threw ice water on Sally. He enjoyed the spectacle, and he said to let him deal with Sally. Phyllis thought he should deal with Adam too because Sally and Adam were a match made in hell.

Elena returned to Nate after her patient was stabilized.

Lily asked Billy if he was going to let Nick stop him from getting the scoop before the launch. Billy thought they should launch themselves out of this dud of a party. He didn’t find anything during his snooping, and it made him wonder if this launch was all smoke and mirrors. She thought that he wanted to leave because he was bummed out by all the positive buzz Newman Media was getting. She said they could still try and outmaneuver Newman Media. He was nauseated by watching everyone from Newman Media pat each other on the back. He was dying of boredom, and he wanted to go to Society. she said if he died of boredom he couldn’t participate in what she had planned later.

Adam and Sally shared a passionate kiss in the suite. He asked where that came from. She thought, instead of questioning it, they should follow their impulse and see where this lead. He told her it’d be a massively bad idea. She tried to entice him into another kiss and asked if it would actually be a good idea. He admitted it was both, but the bad outweighed the good. She asked if it was because he was her boss. He said that was another good reason they shouldn’t do this. His main reason for putting on the brakes was that he was toxic. She suggested he was exaggerating, but he was serious. He felt attracted to her, but whenever he acted on that impulse with people, he left a wake of destruction behind. She strongly disagreed that this would be a mistake, but since this was an important night for him, she wouldn’t argue. She admitted that her own romantic track record was toxic too. He was clear that this was not a reflection on her. She thought it was a shame, because it could’ve been pretty spectacular. He said that this way it could stay spectacular in their imaginations.

Downstairs, Jack told Nick that Phyllis and Sally should be kept apart for the rest of the night, or the rest of their lives. Nick was no fan of Sally’s. Jack couldn’t defend her either. They saw Sally and Adam return, and Sally went out to get fresh air. Across the room, Nick said he was trying to make sense out of that pair. Jack didn’t question it – to each their own.

Nikki congratulated Nate on his promotion. Elena proudly said that he’d be a brilliant chief of surgery. She mentioned his idea to expand the hospital’s surgical wing. Nikki was all for that happening. She said she still had her granddaughter because of that surgical department. As Victor walked up, Nate mentioned that Elena was the new face of AskMDNow. Victor was disappointed because Adam was planning to ask Elena to be the chief medical journalist at Newman Media. Victor said that if Elena hadn’t signed a contract with ChancComm, she could jump ship for a far more successful media company. Elena was flattered, but while she didn’t sign the contract, she gave ChancComm her word, and she wouldn’t go back on that. Victor admired the loyalty. Nikki and Victor went off to mingle. Nate was impressed. Not many people had the guts to turn Victor Newman down flat. Elena said she wasn’t going to abandon Lily and go to a competitor – what kind of person did that? She felt good about being wanted though. He said he wanted her too.

Victor told Adam that his girlfriend, or date almost ruined tonight’s festivities. Adam said it was under control. Media companies thrived on headlines, even when they created some scandalous ones. Victor wanted headlines about the successful debut of the company. Adam promised they’d come out like champions. Victor stated that it was Adam’s night. Adam asked everyone to join him in the ballroom to witness the rise of the next generation of media companies. Victor looked at Billy. Everyone but Billy and Lily followed Adam. She said she’d go, because she understood he wanted to skip this part. She left, and he ordered a scotch.

Phyllis was in the lounge making sure things went smoothly in the ballroom. Nick came up. He said Jack had her back and wouldn’t say much. He still wanted to know what happened. Phyllis admitted she may have provoked things by telling Sally that she wasn’t welcome and that she should leave town. Which might have provoked Sally into throwing a drink, which lead Phyllis to empty an ice bucket over Sally’s head. Phyllis claimed she regretted her actions, but when Nick asked if she really did, she admitted she felt awesome about drenching Sally in ice water. He asked how Jack got involved. Phyllis said Sally was coming at her, so Phyllis lunged for Sally, but Jack and Adam held them back. Nick understood Phyllis’s animosity toward Sally, but he thought she should let it go because Sally wasn’t going anywhere. He was as angry as Phyllis was at what Sally did to Summer, but it didn’t do any good to keep kicking the hornet’s nest. Phyllis conceded that was a good point.

Phyllis gestured toward Billy at the bar and said that was a sad sight. Since Nick had promised Victor he’d keep an eye on Billy, he guessed that was his cue. Phyllis was sorry if she embarrassed Nick. She’d try and move on. He told her to try and stay dry the rest of the night. She got back to work, and Nick went up and asked what Billy was doing. Billy didn’t want to hear Adam droning on about how successful Newman Media was going to be. While Billy wasn’t looking, Nick put some cherries in his drink and walked away. Billy grabbed his glass to take the last sip, but changed his mind when he saw the cherries.

In the ballroom, Victor announced that they were starting a whole new enterprise. He introduced the CEO of Newman Media, his son, Adam. After a round of applause, Adam took the stage. Adam said Newman Media was going to be successful due to the power and strength of family. Victor tried to teach him that for years, and it finally sunk in. They’d be doing charitable work with his brother’s New Hope organization. One day, he hoped to bring his son into the business. They had a lot of new and exciting outlets and platforms in store. Newman Media was coming out swinging, Adam said, as Victor proudly watched from the sidelines.

Later, Elena and Lily went to the lounge. Lily hated to admit it, but Adam put on a surprisingly good speech. Elena wondered if he’d turned the corner. Elena mentioned Devon and Amanda were supposed to be at the party. Lily said they decided not to come because Amanda was leaving in the morning for a trip with her mom and sister. Elena said Devon had been so heroic in Chance’s absence and he’d gone above and beyond to save Mariah and deliver Dominic.

Elena went to Nate, and Billy joined Lily. She told him that Adam and Victor didn’t mention the competition, ChancComm included. She said Adam made it clear he was planning to expand Newman Media. She swore he glanced her way when he said that. Billy said that if Adam came after them, they’d do everything they could to protect their assets. She sensed that Victor wasn’t pleased when Adam mentioned adding on more entities. That excited Billy, because he knew Victor wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to go after ChancComm, so that must mean Adam and Victor weren’t on the same page.

Billy went to Adam and Victor and congratulated them on Newman Media getting through the night nearly scandal-free. “Who asked you to come over here and talk to us? By the way you look like three sheets to the wind,” Victor said. Adam thought everyone would agree that the launch was a grand slam, but Billy said they’d see what happened tomorrow when it was time to actually run the company. Billy said ChancComm was ready for whatever Newman Media had planned. Adam suggested that Billy was paranoid. Billy said he wasn’t paranoid; he didn’t trust Victor. He suggested they talk with Phyllis to schedule their going out of business party. Victor told Billy he’d always be a pain in the ass and wished him a nice evening. The Newmans walked away, and Lily joined Billy to ask what happened. He said he went to congratulate them, and it turned into posturing. He was ready for the after party. She’d rented them a suite since Victoria had the kids tonight. She thought it felt sentimental being back here. She’d rented his old suite because that was where they’d first made love. They went upstairs.

Phyllis asked Jack what he thought. He’d never sing Victor’s praises, but he was happy for Adam and wanted him to thrive. Jack also thought all of Phyllis’s hard work really showed. She hoped the rest of the night overshadowed the dust up earlier, and she thanked him for not letting it go any further. He joked that he couldn’t bear the idea of losing more champagne, but she said it would’ve been worth it. Across the room, Nick watched Phyllis and Jack laughing.

Phyllis and Nick went up to her room. She wondered why she took the bait and let that little girl get to her. The last thing she needed was another scandal at her hotel. He didn’t think she should blame herself. Sally was a button pusher. He thought she should be proud of herself for not letting t things get too out of control. She asked if he was still going to pamper her, and he said yes, as soon as she lost the headset. She pretended she was talking with security and told Nick that they wanted him to take off his tie and jacket. Once he did, they kissed.

Jack went home and poured a drink. He pulled out the handkerchief that he’d used to dry Phyllis off after her encounter with Sally. He smiled while holding the handkerchief, then he looked concerned.

At their home, Nikki congratulated Victor on a successful launch. He thought so too, but he was still troubled by Adam flirting with whatever her name was. Nikki said it was Sally Spectra, who couldn’t be trusted after what she did to Summer. Nikki said they’d have to keep an eye on her. They both enjoyed Phyllis pouring ice water on Sally.

Nate walked Elena into Crimson Lights. He teased that Victor only invited him as the plus one of the hot new talent. She couldn’t believe she was so in demand. He was glad he wasn’t the only one who saw how amazing and special she was. She thought it was cool that Nikki offered to help him fund raise for the hospital expansion. She said they were on a lucky streak, and she didn’t want to jinx it. He didn’t think they could. She invited him upstairs. She had tomorrow off, so she could sleep in. he liked the sound of that, and he said he could change his schedule tomorrow.

Adam and Sally were at Society. She thanked him for being so understanding about what happened with Phyllis. She said Victor didn’t seem too pleased. He told her not to worry about his dad, who had bigger fish to flatten. He asked what she thought about the speeches. She said he was a born leader, and he’d proven himself quite the visionary. She had to get home, and she said, despite his warning, she’d probably dream about what might’ve been between them tonight. He watched her leave.

Tessa was playing her guitar in the Chancellor living room when Abby walked in wanting to talk about Mariah. She was worried Mariah would have lasting emotional scars from being held against her will. Tessa was concerned too, but Mariah was resilient enough to get through this -they just had to support her. Abby asked if Mariah had opened up to Tessa. Tessa planned to talk to Sharon about Mariah getting treatment, but Tessa hoped Mariah just needed some time. Abby was going to go see Dominic. Tessa wanted to come along so she could be there when Mariah woke up. She had a surprise for Abby – a lullaby for the baby. Abby was excited to hear it now. Tessa said it needed fine tuning, but she played it.

“My baby needs to live!,” Mariah screamed as she woke up from her nightmare in the hospital. A nurse came and said it was time for Dominic’s feeding. Mariah had already pumped milk, but she asked if it would be okay for her to feed him. The nurse brought the baby in. Tessa’s song played over a scene with Mariah taking the baby into her arms and lovingly feeding him. The song was about waiting all your life to meet a baby and a promise to keep them safe. Back at the house, the song brought tears to Abby’s eyes.

Mariah told the baby that she probably wouldn’t have made it out of there if it weren’t for him. She’d never forget that he’d kept her sane. It felt so different holding him in her arms than it did when he was inside her. She couldn’t believe how natural it felt. She shared a secret with the baby. “I wish I could breastfeed you. But I can’t. It’s in the contract I signed. Don’t worry, okay. That’s my milk. That’s my milk that you’re eating right now,” she said. She promised it would make him strong and healthy. “My sweet precious little Bowie.” Just after this, Tessa and Abby walked in and stopped short when they saw Mariah feeding the baby. Mariah apologized to Abby and said he was hungry. Abby said it was okay if he needed to be fed. Abby wanted to finish the feeding, but Mariah held up an empty bottle. Tessa mentioned that Abby liked the lullaby. Abby said she’d burp the baby, and Mariah handed him over, but she looked uncomfortable with Abby cooing over him and calling him her little Dominic. Mariah looked at Tessa with a strained smile.

John says he’s looking forward to Labor Day weekend to relax. Marlena informs him that she cleared her entire schedule through Tuesday. They kiss until John’s phone rings with a call from Shane Donovan. John wonders what Shane wants as he answers the call.

Jake and Gabi wake up in bed together. Jake kisses her until Gabi reminds him that it’s his first day of work at Titan. Jake talks about having sex on Philip’s desk while Gabi notes that they have things to do like world domination. Gabi opens up her tablet and sees that Jake made the front page with his move from DiMera to Titan. Jake hopes that his brothers are reading it and choking.

Tony enters the living room of the DiMera Mansion where Chad shows him the article on Jake. Tony assures that they have nothing to worry about. Tony mentions that he’s supposed to meet Anna for breakfast but he can’t find her. Chad reveals that Anna took off about 15 minutes ago like a bat out of Hell. Tony calls that strange and wonders where she went.

Anna goes to the Brady Pub and tells Roman that life as they know it could change forever as they have an emergency on their hands and they have to do something about it right now.

Eli wakes up and questions Lani setting his alarm, complaining that he had a late shift and doesn’t have to be up for a few more hours. Lani reminds him that they are having breakfast at Paulina’s. Eli admits that he forgot.

Paulina is at home on the phone with Tamara, assuring that she knows what their mom wants and she drummed it in her head while she was there. Paulina says everything will be fine as she’s back in everybody’s good graces. Paulina promises Tamara that Abe will not find out that Lani is her daughter or that he’s not really her father, because if he does, she will surely lose him and she won’t let that happen. Abe then enters the room as Paulina hangs up and asks what that was all about.

Eli wants to cancel their breakfast plans but Lani points out that Paulina is so excited about them starting the day together. Lani says Paulina wants to make up for everything that happened. Eli notes they already forgave her. Lani feels that Paulina has to go big to prove herself and this is how she does it. Lani tells Eli that there is no chance they can get out of this because Paulina and Abe are counting on them.

Abe informs Paulina that he heard her say something like she would surely lose him and can’t let that happen. Paulina claims that she was telling her sister that she had to cancel twice with her hairdresser and if she cancels again, he’ll probably drop her as a client. Paulina then informs Abe that she hired a new chef from Chicago to cook for them all but he texted her that he sprained his ankle and can’t make it. Paulina says she wanted their gathering to be perfect but it looks like they either have to postpone or order from a nearby diner. Abe thinks between the two them, they can cook a fabulous brunch. Paulina admits that would cheer her up. Abe says her smile cheers him up as he kisses her.

Gabi tells Jake that first they will steal Titan from underneath Philip and then use Titan to crush DiMera. Gabi notes that they didn’t find anything in Philip’s office to use but she has plenty of ideas and ways to sabotage him. Jake talks about wanting this as well after the way Tony, Chad, and EJ gloated over voting them out as CEO, so he can’t wait to rip their empire out from under them. Gabi complains about the DiMeras being so full of themselves but says they won’t see them coming.

Tony calls Anna and leaves a message, saying he was looking forward to their breakfast and to call him when she gets this. Tony supposes a little mystery is always good for a marriage. Chad remarks that at least his wife is in the same city. Tony questions him not hearing from Abigail. Chad says he promised to give her time and space to figure things out. Tony insists that she will come back to him. Chad admits he doesn’t deserve it, but he hopes she does. Chad guesses he can’t have the traditional Labor Day picnic with Thomas and Charlotte since Jack decided to take the kids to the lake. Tony asks about him being alone. Chad says he has plenty of work to keep him busy. Tony feels the only thing on his mind will be Abigail. Chad mentions that Jack said he would talk to Abigail about him this weekend, to find out if she’s planning on ever coming home.

Roman asks Anna if he can have coffee before they take on the world. Anna says they have no time to waste because their daughter needs them. Roman asks what’s wrong with Carrie. Anna says she’s fine physically, but emotionally she’s a total wreck as her marriage is flatlining. Roman argues that he saw Carrie and Austin in February and everything was fine. Anna says it’s not now, so Roman asks what happened. Anna informs him that Carrie called totally broken up and she could hardly speak, so all she could get was that Carrie and Austin had a terrible fight. Anna declares that they have to help their daughter, so they need to get to Zurich right now.

John tells Shane that he’s on it and will get back to him as he hangs up. Marlena asks what’s going on. John informs him that Shane wants Black Patch on a top secret case in Zurich as soon as possible. Marlena declares there goes their weekend.

Eli and Lani check on the twins and they are still sleeping. Eli comments that he can think of a bunch of things to do other than go to Paulina’s for breakfast but he knows she doesn’t want to upset Paulina or let Abe down. Lani says that since Abe and Paulina are back on track, she wants to show them that they support them 100%. Eli agrees to go to breakfast then.

Paulina tells Abe that she’s making her famous baked egg casserole. Abe wants to help so Paulina hands him an apron.

John calls Steve and tells him that he understands and to have fun at the wedding as he hangs up. Marlena guesses he lost his partner. John informs her that Steve is Justin’s best man and he didn’t realize today was the big day. John can’t believe Kayla and Steve are standing up after all the hell Bonnie caused Adrienne. Marlena guesses they saw how happy they were. John relates to knowing the power of love as he kisses Marlena.

Gabi tells Jake that she better get dressed so she can beat Philip to the office. Jake asks what if Philip is already there. Gabi says Jake can’t be late for his first day. Jake suggests a breakfast meeting and kisses her, talking about how hot she is talking about corporate takeovers. Gabi says they can’t get to any of that in bed. Jake calls it a team building exercise as they kiss back in to bed.

Tony knows how difficult things must be for Chad, but also how much he loves Abigail and how much Abigail loves him. Tony has every bit of confidence that Abigail will be back home soon and he just has to be patient. Chad responds that he’s not a patient man. Tony notes he doesn’t have a choice in this matter. Chad says every time he wakes up without Abigail, he wonders how to get through each day. Tony invites Chad to join him for breakfast. Chad appreciates the invite but says he has another meeting. Chad thanks Tony for listening. Tony encourages that it will work out with he and Abigail. Chad then exits the room. Tony continues to wonder where Anna is.

Roman tells Anna that he’s sorry that Carrie is upset, but questions why they need to go to Zurich. Anna argues that Carrie needs her parents. Roman asks if she said that. Anna says no but she can read between the lines. Roman tells her that they are not going to Zurich as Carrie and Austin are adults, who can work this out. Anna cries that if they don’t, she couldn’t live with herself if their daughter’s marriage implodes because they couldn’t get on a plane when she needs them the most. Roman points out that Carrie didn’t ask them to come. Anna wants to have a family meeting to make sure Austin takes care of Carrie. Anna insists that they should be getting on a plane and tells Roman to go pack. Roman tells her that it’s not going to happen as he’s not going to Zurich, and says she shouldn’t either.

Abe and Paulina finish cooking. She says she couldn’t have done it without him. Eli and Lani then arrive with the twins and greet Paulina and Abe. They each have a glass of orange juice as Abe toasts to second chances and new beginnings.

Gabi and Jake walk through the town square where they run in to Chad. Chad says he hears congratulations are in order about Jake’s new little job at Titan. Chad brings up being CEO of Titan before. Gabi says that was two seconds. Chad says it was brief but it’s not like he got his ass handed to him because he couldn’t handle the job. Gabi holds Jake back and tells Chad to go ahead and make fun, but it’s a mistake to underestimate Jake because he will be running Titan before he knows it.

John guesses he better call Shane back to tell him he’s flying solo on this one since Steve can’t make it. Marlena suggests that John take her to Zurich then.

Anna questions Roman not wanting to go to Zurich and asks if he cares about their daughter’s marriage. Roman argues that it’s none of their business since Carrie is an adult, it’s her marriage, and he doubts that she’d want her parents flying halfway around the world to interfere in her marriage. Anna insists that Carrie needs them. Roman advises Anna not to go to Zurich and stay home to let Carrie and Austin work out their problems on their own. Anna says that’s not the answer but Roman says it’s all he’s got. Anna declares that if Roman won’t help her, she’ll just have to do it herself as she walks out of the Pub.

Jake tells Gabi that they are done here and heading to the office. Chad tells him to have fun punching the clock for Philip. Gabi calls Chad a condescending jerk. Chad says he’s also the CEO of DiMera. Gabi asks if Abigail is still in Boston with her mom. Chad asks if Arianna is still in Arizona with her two dads. Gabi says she is for now, but she intends on having her come live with her. Chad mocks that going over well with Sonny and Will. Gabi insists they won’t have a problem. Chad asks if she’s sure about that. Gabi asks what he knows since she just spoke to Sonny yesterday and he said he hasn’t spoken to Chad in weeks, so some best friend he is.

John knows it might sound romantic to spend the last few days of summer in Zurich, but he reminds her that this is a work trip so he’ll spend his time on the case and it won’t be much fun for her. Marlena notes that she could keep him company on the flight and she could visit Austin and Carrie since she hasn’t seen Carrie in such a long time, so they’ll have a lot to catch up on. John is sure she would love that. Marlena adds that without his partner, John might need a little help on the case from her.

Lani tells Paulina that it was so nice of her to have them over. Paulina says they will do it more often as there’s no better way to start the day. Eli questions the smell so Paulina runs to the kitchen and cries that her casserole is ruined. Lani says it’s no big deal but Paulina says it is because she wanted to celebrate and she won’t do that with oatmeal. Paulina decides she’ll start all over since she has the ingredients. Abe says she doesn’t have to go through all of that. Eli says he has to get back to the police station. Lani questions if he can’t just go in late. Eli suggests they reschedule since he has Labor Day weekend off. Paulina suggests they instead have lunch in Miami over Labor Day weekend. Paulina says he’ll charter a jet to take them by the time they finish packing. Lani reminds Eli that she told him that Paulina likes to go big. Paulina won’t take no for an answer and talks about how fabulous it is in Miami. Paulina asks if Abe can tear himself away from Salem for a few days. Abe decides he can probably imagine it. Eli agrees that it sounds awesome, but he still has to get to work. Paulina suggests a personal day. Lani asks what about the kids. Paulina says to bring them as it’s the more, the merrier.

Chad admits it’s been awhile since he’s talked to Sonny. Gabi remarks that he’s too busy feeling sorry for himself because Abigail left. Chad admits he’s lonely for her but says she’ll be back. Gabi asks if he’s sure because he cheated on her with her sister, so the odds don’t sound great for him. Chad tells Gabi to go to Hell. Gabi then informs Chad that Sonny is making his company public. Chad says he’s very happy for him. Gabi suggests he let him know that. Chad tells her to mind her own business. Gabi says it is her business since Sonny and Will are caring for her daughter and they are extremely busy, so Arianna might have to come live with them since they are in position to give her a loving and stable home. Chad laughs at them having stability. Gabi argues that if Chad really cared so much about Sonny, he should call and congratulate him. Chad then walks away.

Anna goes home to the DiMera Mansion where Tony asks where she has been since he thought they were having breakfast together. Anna questions why everyone is so obsessed with breakfast, especially at a time like this. Anna complains about the end of Carrie and Austin’s marriage. Tony says he’s not following. Anna explains that she talked to Carrie and there was a big blowup with Austin and she was in tears, devastated. Anna says that whatever happened is Austin’s fault and Carrie needs the support of her parents. Tony asks if she spoke to Roman. Anna confirms that she told him they need to go to Zurich but Roman said no. Tony thinks that was the right answer because he doesn’t think they should be going to Zurich to fix a problem that is not their responsibility. Tony thinks she should let Austin and Carrie work it out themselves. Anna questions why he’s taking Roman’s side in this. Tony says he’s not but asks what happens if she goes to Zurich and it turns out it was just a little spat and they are already back together or if the problem continues and she only makes things worse. Anna declares that she would never forgive herself if she didn’t go. Anna cries that her daughter is in trouble, so she has to pack and he can enjoy his breakfast, lunch, and dinner without her. Anna adds that she has no idea when she’s coming back. Tony stops her and decides he is going too, so he will book their flight.

John questions Marlena wanting to go play spy with him in Zurich. Marlena points out that she’s helped him solve cases in the past and he’s said that she’s a good detective and that they are a terrific team. Marlena adds that in 2017, he went to Europe by herself and tracked down Stefano. John declares there is no one else he’d rather have on his side. John declares that it looks like they are going to Zurich as they hug.

Lani tells Paulina that it does sound amazing but the twins have never traveled before, so she doesn’t know how they will do and they should probably pass. Paulina brings up that Julie has been begging for quality time with the twins. Abe agrees that Julie and Doug would love this. Lani agrees. Paulina notes that Lani’s maternity leave is up and she has to go back to work next Tuesday, while they haven’t had any alone time since the twins were born. Paulina declares that Doug and Julie will get their chance with the babies while Lani and Eli will get their chance for a romantic weekend. Eli responds that she’s very hard to say no to. Lani then agrees to the trip to Miami.

Eli and Lani go home. Eli jokes that he’s not sure Julie will want to give the twins back when they get home. Lani jokes that the twins will be spoiled rotten. Eli says that’s what grandparents are for. Lani says she misses the twins already. Eli admits it is quiet but exclaims they are going to Miami and she will have his undivided attention the entire time. Lani reminds him that they are going with Paulina and she requires a lot of attention. Lani adds that she has plans for Eli too since it’s the first time that he has been to her hometown. Lani can’t wait to show her all the places she went to as a kid. Lani mentions a bikini that she’s been waiting to wear all summer. Eli can’t wait to see her in it and out of it as they kiss.

Paulina finishes a call with Chanel and tells Abe that Chanel can’t go with them as she is too busy preparing for the opening of her bakery next week. Paulina tells Abe that he should finish packing since the jet is going in an hour. Abe says he doesn’t want to miss the jet. Paulina questions if he’s not excited about this weekend. Abe admits that it’s very extravagant and impulsive. Paulina exclaims that she’s happier than she’s ever been since Abe and Lani have forgiven him. Abe agrees that it’s cause for a celebration then. Paulina wants to show Abe where she grew up and why she loves Miami. Paulina can’t wait to see it all through his eyes. Abe decides he wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world as she kisses him.

Jake and Gabi walk back through the town square. Jake thinks she was a little hard on Chad. Gabi feels he deserved it and calls him a pompous ass. Jake compares him to Philip. Gabi says they will win because they know what it means to work their tails off and never lose sight of the prize. Gabi declares that no one is going to stop them.

Chad goes to the Brady Pub and greets Roman, who notes that he hasn’t seen him in awhile. Chad hoped Roman could help him with something, as he wants to take a weekend trip to Phoenix. Chad asks if he’s talked to Will lately. Roman says he did the other day and Will said that he and Sonny were missing family and friends, so he thinks a visit from Chad would be just what they need. Chad says it’s a plan. Roman wants photos, especially of Arianna. Chad agrees to that and says it was good to see him. Chad then pulls out his phone and calls Sonny. Chad says he knows it’s been awhile and he’s sorry about that, but he heard the great news about the IPO. Chad says he was thinking of coming out to congratulate him in person for the weekend if he’s not too busy. Sonny says he doesn’t mind so Chad decides to have the DiMera jet fired up and says he’ll be there in no time.

Anna questions Tony going with her. Tony says she is his wife, so what’s important to her is important to him. Tony jokes that someone has to take care of her, so she doesn’t get into any kind of trouble. Anna says no one has ever taken such good care of her. Tony asks if he’s back in her good graces now despite not investing in Johnny’s movie. Tony points out that they have money, success, and freedom to travel whenever they please. Anna has a strong feeling that they are going to be very glad they did.

John and Marlena leave home and declare their next stop is Zurich, together, as it should be.

Recap written by Christine

At The Grand Phoenix, Adam and Sally acknowledged that their entrance got everyone’s attention. She suggested they greet the coordinator, Phyllis, and he said to lead the way. Adam thanked Phyllis for the handling the festivities – it was a big night for Newman Media. Phyllis thanked Adam for the huge mound of cash he gave her to throw the party. She was glad about all the publicity it brought the hotel. Jack wished Adam success in his new venture, then he greeted Sally. Phyllis didn’t think success was in the cards for the couple. She noted that she’d just told Jack that Adam and Sally would destroy each other, so she told them to have fun while it lasted. Adam and Sally smiled, and Adam said they would. They walked away. Jack asked if that was necessary, and Phyllis said it was. Billy joined Phyllis and Jack, and commented that Adam and Sally’s entrance was obnoxious. Jack said there would be no trouble as long as everyone was on their best behavior. Phyllis and Billy both asked if Jack was talking to them. He said he was talking to both of them.

Across the room, Nikki wondered whose buttons Adam was trying to push by bringing Sally. Victor didn’t know Adam was bringing anyone, and Victor didn’t think he would’ve approved of this. Nikki informed Victor that Victoria and Ashland weren’t coming because he had a rough time after his second round of chemo. At this point, Adam brought Sally over and introduced her to Victor. Victor introduced Nikki, who crisply stated that she and Sally had met. Adam was sorry Ashland wasn’t well. Sally was pleased to be part of the Newman team. Adam predicted this would be an extraordinary night. Victor hoped so. He said it was nice meeting Sally.

Victor and Nikki were talking alone, and he said he didn’t know if Victoria would’ve come even if Ashland felt well. Nikki thought that was because Victoria was upset Victor was investigating Ashland. Victor said it was because Victoria and Adam had a contentious relationship. He was disappointed Victoria didn’t attend, because this party was an opportunity for her and Adam to put their differences aside. Nikki understood that Victor wanted that, but she wasn’t sure Adam and Victoria were interested in reconciling, and she couldn’t blame Victoria for that. Victor said Nikki couldn’t blame him for hoping. Nikki pointed out that he could breathe easy that Adam and Victoria wouldn’t clash tonight. Victor thought Billy might cause trouble. Jack made his way to Victor and Nikki and congratulated him on the successful launch. Jack then brought up his great nephew/Victor’s grandson, Dominic. Victor agreed that Abby’s baby was worth celebrating. Victor wanted Ben to be brought to justice, but he wouldn’t let that spoil the party. Jack couldn’t wait to see Newman Media’s presentation; he was sure Victor and Adam had something planned that would wow the media world. “You know we do,” Victor replied. He excused himself to the ballroom. Nikki asked if Billy had something up his sleeve. As far as Jack knew, there was nothing to worry about.

Nate was with Lily and Nick. He admitted he was surprised he and Elena were invited to a Newman Media event. Lily thought it was because Victor appreciated what Nate did for the family at the hospital. Nick said everyone was grateful for what Nate did for Faith after the accident and the kidney transplant. Nick mentioned Nate’s work at AskMDNow, and Nate revealed that he quit. Lily said Elena took the job, and Nick thought that was perfect. Nate hoped Elena made it back in time to celebrate tonight.

Adam and Sally were off by themselves. She was disappointed that Victoria wasn’t coming. She’d hoped to talk her way into designing Victoria’s wedding dress. Adam didn’t think that would happen, since Victoria wouldn’t forgive what Sally did to Summer. He said his sister held a grudge better than everyone in the family. Sally thought Adam underestimated her. Adam was glad Victoria wasn’t coming, given her distaste for him. He looked over at Billy and said he wasn’t worried about Billy or ChancComm. Sally was curious about the feud between them. Adam was surprised she didn’t know. She said she did read the hit job ChancComm did on him, so she knew a bit about the death of Billy and Chloe’s daughter. Adam said it was a devastating accident, and he handled it terribly. Sally asked how Adam and Chloe were able to be in the same building. While Adam didn’t think Chloe would ever trust him, she had let go of her hatred. He said Billy couldn’t let go of it – he was filled with pain and anger, and he always would be. Sally was sorry for everyone involved. Adam suggested he’d tell Sally more about it, but that was a story for another day. Tonight was about fun.

Chloe called and let Adam know she couldn’t come because Miles had a fever. Sally offered to get Adam an appetizer. He wasn’t interested, so she said she was going go try them all and report back to him. She walked off, and Billy sidled up and thanked Adam for the invite. He was interested in seeing what Adam had up his sleeve. Adam knew Billy wanted to undermine the launch and steal his thunder, but that wasn’t going to happen. He had a headline – “Newman Media launch Sets Records and leaves ChancComm in the Dust.” Billy thought that headline belonged in the wood chipper. Billy said ChancComm wasn’t going to let their guard down. Adam noted that they had a truce, so this was just fair competition. Billy knew for a fact that Victor was going to go after them with an underhanded attack, because that was the only way a startup like Newman Media could do any damage to ChancComm. Adam didn’t think they were a startup – Newman Media started as Cyaxares. Billy said that was built by Ashland Locke, but Adam wouldn’t be able to live up to that standard. Unless, of course, Adam had Papa Bear run things from behind the scenes. Adam accused Billy of projecting his own insecurities. Adam added that if Newman Media went after ChancComm, they’d never see it coming. Adam told Billy to help himself to the champagne, and he walked off.

Lily joined Billy and said she could see the gauntlet being thrown from across the room. She asked what the score was. He thought it was a tie. He couldn’t tell if Adam was playing it straight or if he was going after ChancComm. Lily thought they should hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Billy was sure that Victor wasn’t going to give up. Lily thought it might be a good thing that Victor and Adam weren’t on the same page – friction at Newman Media might give ChancComm an edge. Billy decided to snoop around and figure out what Newman Media was going to announce – maybe scoop the story before the launch. Lily wanted the edge too, but she asked what Billy was going to do. He wouldn’t say, and he headed to the elevator.

Adam joined Jack, who questioned Adam’s choice in a date. Adam said there was no hidden agenda, and he and Sally weren’t dating. Jack didn’t judge, and he didn’t hold a grudge against Sally. He suggested that Adam’s mission to be the best person he could be would rub off on her. Perhaps Adam would be able to unlock the potential in Sally that Jack had been unable to. Adam clarified that he wasn’t trying to be anyone’s redemption story. He was just focused on work and on making Newman Media the only communications company in town that mattered.

Phyllis had a bad feeling when she saw Billy getting on the elevator. She told Nick things between Billy and Adam were venomous tonight, to which Nick replied that it was always like that. Phyllis sensed Billy was going to do something to disrupt the party. Nick recalled Victor saying the same thing. Nick didn’t think Billy was up to anything, though. Phyllis didn’t want Billy and Adam to get into it. Nick promised he wouldn’t let that happen. He vowed to protect Phyllis and her hotel. She kissed him and called him her hero, and she promised to reward him later. He went to see what Billy was doing. Sally joined Phyllis and mentioned that she and Nick seemed cozy. Phyllis said their relationship was stronger than Sally’s weak attempts to undermine them. Sally noted that Phyllis was with Jack earlier, and she said at some point, Nick wouldn’t be able to ignore that. Phyllis called Sally a sad little girl who didn’t know anything about her relationship with Nick. She continued that Sally couldn’t take it in LA, and she left with her tail between her legs, then she alienated Jack and Lauren. “Even though you tell yourself ‘Oh, this time it’s gonna work out,’ it’s not,” Phyllis said. She predicted that Sally was going to be alone, lonely, cold and sad. Phyllis walked off. Nikki and Nate were standing nearby, and they overheard what Phyllis said. Nikki had a satisfied smirk on her face.

Later, Phyllis mingled with Nate and asked where his girl was. He told her that Elena got called into work. He mentioned that Elena had been excited about having an opportunity to dress up. Phyllis thought Nate needed to step up his date game. He quipped that he and Elena would stop settling from renting rooms at Phyllis’s hotel. Phyllis said she could set up a special suite if he called her in advance – rose petals on the bed etc. Phyllis asked what Nate and Elena were into. He said they connected over being doctors. They worked long hours and didn’t have much time for anything else. Phyllis joked about setting up a room for them full of medical textbooks. Laughing, he admitted that, when she put it that way, he and Elena sounded dull. Phyllis said playing doctor was kind of fun. She promised to put something together for them.

Upstairs, Billy spotted Crystal, the hotel manager, exiting the room Adam and Victor were storing things in for the announcement. He pretended Mr. Newman had sent him to retrieve something from the room, but he forgot his key. Crystal couldn’t let someone in there without Mr. Newman’s permission. Her boss was a stickler for these things. Billy said he and Phyllis went way back, and she wouldn’t mind at all. Time was of the essence, and he really needed to get this file and take it to Mr. Newman. He said if she wanted, she could go downstairs and interrupt the very important conversation that the Newmans were in. Crystal relented and let Billy into the room. Nick showed up and caught Billy logging onto a laptop. After a brief attempt to lie, Billy admitted he was spying. He didn’t think Nick should be upset, since they both despised Adam. Nick gave Adam a second chance after he saved Faith’s life. . Plus he wanted Newman Media to be successful because they were a major investor in New Hope. This night also meant a lot to Victor. He told Billy to stop doing what he was doing.

Back downstairs, Jack wondered where his brother was. Lily got his mind off it by asking him how his trip to Milan went.

Sally approached Nikki and tried to chit chat. Nikki replied with a smile and in a friendly tone that did not match her words. “After our last conversation, I don’t understand why you think I would be interested in anything you have to say,” Nikki stated. While Nikki had differences with Phyllis, she wished Phyllis had succeeded in driving Sally out of town. Phyllis appeared. Nikki said no one in the room wanted Sally here, besides Adam, who was likely using her because he knew she was nothing but trouble. “I highly doubt that he takes you seriously in any way. It was lovely talking to you,” Nikki said, then she walked away. Phyllis walked over to Sally and noted that Nikki didn’t mince words. Sally said she didn’t either, and if Phyllis stuck around, she’d hear plenty. Phyllis assumed Sally regretted coming. On the contrary, Sally was pleased to be here with her handsome date representing the company she worked for. Phyllis said Adam would tire of Sally and kick her to the curb. Sally asked if that was what happened to Phyllis. Phyllis said not at all. Phyllis stated that she and Sally weren’t the same. Sally was glad about that. Phyllis asserted that she was a respected businesswoman and Sally was the town pariah. “The Newmans and the Abbotts don’t want you here. Go home! Leave, Phyllis snarled. Sally told Phyllis to go to hell, and she threw a drink in her face, just as Adam walked up. Phyllis emptied an ice bucket over Sally’s head. Everyone else stared in shock. Phyllis and Sally were about to fight, but Jack grabbed Phyllis, and Adam restrained Sally. Sally protested that Phyllis started it. Phyllis said she’d end it. Adam pulled Sally out of the room, telling her not to let Phyllis bait her. They boarded one elevator as Nick and Billy exited another. Nick told Billy no more James Bond stuff. “We’ll see,” he replied. They were confused because they’d seen that Sally was all wet, and across the room, they saw Jack using his handkerchief to tab at Phyllis’s face. Lily eagerly gestured for Billy to join her. Laughing, she told him what just happened. She asked how his hunting expedition went, and he said Nick ran in and stopped him. Lily asked if Billy was really giving up or if that was just what he lead Nick to believe. Phyllis couldn’t believe she let Sally get to her. Jack said Sally had a talent for that. Nick came up and asked what he missed.

Adam took Sally to the room where Billy was earlier and got her a towel. He asked if she was okay, and she snapped that she was not. She was having a nice time until she was attacked by that low class spiteful hypocritical bully. “She kept coming at me, what was I supposed to do?,” he asked. He thought it seemed like a proportional response. He didn’t know how he’d top that moment, maybe he’d have to give his speech naked. She said that would get her attention. She was really sorry, but he said he thought the party needed to be livened up, and he liked her fire. She pulled him into a deep kiss.

Devon came to pick up Amanda for the party, but she’d forgotten all about it. Michael had called and said that he was reinstating the charges against Sutton. She said her grandfather was finally going to face a jury for the murder of her father. She was so grateful for this and for her improved relationship with Naya. She, Naya and Imani were going to take a short trip to bond as a family. With the trial on the horizon, she felt that the long painful journey had finally come to an end. Amanda noted that she and Devon had a lot of life-altering changes lately – he’d brought a new life into the world. He showed off pictures of Dominic, and she thought the baby was adorable. She looked up and took in the way Devon looked at the photos.

Amanda assumed Devon must be overwhelmed with emotion after everything that happened with Mariah, Abby and the baby. He said he was just glad things worked out for Abby and Chance. Amanda told Devon it was okay to admit it was more complicated than that. He changed the subject and said they had to get to the party, but she urged him to unburden himself to her. Devon knew that he’d get to play an integral role in Dominic’s life, so he didn’t understand why he was having these feelings. Amanda said Devon had a biological connection to the child, and that was a powerful bond. Devon felt that bond the second the baby came into the world, and knowing that other people would raise him was harder than he’d thought it would be. It also made him remember how he felt when he and Hilary were expecting a child. He didn’t know how to describe the feeling of thinking you were going to be a father, only to have it taken from you in an instant. He didn’t mean to be insensitive to Amanda after what happened to her father. She assured him it was okay. He felt an emptiness. He was trying to wrap his mind around the fact that he had a son, but he didn’t really have a son.

Devon didn’t regret stepping up for Abby and Chance. He knew what he was getting himself into. Calling Dominic his son didn’t feel right, because that was Abby and Chance’s baby. Amanda said it was okay to acknowledge, even if it was just with her, that Dominic was his son. She thought he felt guilty because his instinct was to be with Dominic, but he had to keep his distance. He thought that was exactly what it was, and he appreciated Amanda understanding. She suggested that he focus on the things he had given Dominic, like life. She thought that the open and inclusive way Abby, Devon, Mariah and Chance had gone into this was a gift. Dominic would never grow up wondering where his family was or who they were. When Amanda was growing up, she didn’t have anyone around her that resembled her. He said she did now, and she replied that it was incredible. He was having a hard time defining the role he’d have in Dominic’s life. She said he’d figure it out along the way. Devon vowed to be there for Dominic, no matter what. Amanda said she’d be there for Devon.

Update written by Joseph

Brady says goodnight as Chloe gets in to bed. Brady suddenly feels he’s not sleepy and asks if she minds if he reads. Chloe tells him to just get in the bed. Brady doesn’t want to make her uncomfortable. Chloe tells him to just stay on his side. Brady agrees if she is sure. Brady then gets up and gets in to bed next to Chloe, putting a blanket in between them. Brady admits the bed is much nicer and thanks her. Brady lays awake in bed for hours next to Chloe, until Chloe eventually rolls over and puts her arm over Brady.

Johnny sits at the DiMera Mansion and says that Chanel is not answering his texts so he will have to up his game. Johnny then uses his phone to film a video message for Chanel, apologizing for how Allie acted and assuring that he’s not a player or aggressive towards women. EJ walks in and guesses his date didn’t go very well.

Paulina reminds Chanel at home that she’s a baker and has to be up in five hours. Chanel says she’s just trying to figure out how to answer Johnny’s text. Paulina thought they were a perfect couple but Chanel informs her that they are not a couple. Paulina asks what happened. Chanel responds “Allie”.

Allie sits in her room, thinking back to arguing with Johnny about Chanel. Nicole comes in and notes that it’s late but she saw her light on, so she asks if something is bothering her. Allie responds that it’s not something, but someone.

Rafe goes home and finds Ava sitting at the table in the dark with her suitcase packed. Ava informs him that she was waiting to tell him to his face that she’s moving out. Rafe argues that Ava has only seen he and Nicole are friends but has imagined it to be more than that. Ava argues that she’s not imagining as it’s been in her face for months but she didn’t want to see it because she cares about him too much. Ava knows Rafe cares about her too, but says it’s not enough. Ava says that Rafe and Nicole are more than friends. Rafe insists that there is nothing going on between them. Ava asks how come she saw Nicole in Rafe’s arms this morning then.

Brady tells Chloe that she’s not making it easy and tries to push her away but Chloe is asleep and cuddles up to him. Philip then walks in and turns on the light, asking why he’s not surprised.

Chanel explains to Paulina that Johnny is a DiMera. Paulina acknowledges how much money the DiMeras have. Chanel talks about the DiMera Mansion. Paulina says she’s done good and learned from her mistakes. Paulina jokes that Chanel set out to snag a rich man and did better than Xander. Chanel explains that she just liked Johnny even before she knew he had money. Chanel mentions meeting Johnny’s dad, EJ, and says he’s not a warm and fuzzy guy. Chanel adds that EJ won’t give Johnny any money for his movie. Paulina asks if that’s why things hit the skids. Paulina says no and then reveals that Johnny is Allie’s twin brother.

Johnny tells EJ that he didn’t blow the date and it’s no big deal, joking that it’s nothing like blowing a marriage. Johnny asks if EJ has talked to Sami lately. EJ responds that he hasn’t. Johnny apologizes for saying that. EJ thinks he had it coming. Johnny admits it was below the belt. EJ acknowledges how he’s been to him and apologizes. Johnny says he misses Sami too. EJ knows he hasn’t made things easier for him since he’s been back. Johnny agrees that EJ has been a jerk and notes that Allie said he’s been just like him. EJ questions he and Allie not getting along. Johnny says that would be an understatement.

Chloe questions what the hell Philip is doing here. Brady says he’s making an ass out of himself. Philip asks if he was really expected to believe engine trouble in the middle of nowhere. Brady doesn’t give a damn what he believes. Philip declares that he was just trying to get here before it was too late. Brady mocks Philip being there to defend Chloe’s virtue. Philip responds that he’s here to make Brady pay for whatever happened here tonight. Brady explains to Philip that he tried to get some sleep. Philip argues that Brady was too distracted by being in the same bed as Chloe. Chloe tells him there was only one room left and she couldn’t let Brady sleep in a chair with his bad back. Chloe adds that he promised to keep his hands to himself. Philip questions why he didn’t then, complaining that they were like a pair of spoons. Brady admits that Chloe was snuggled up to him when Philip walked in. Chloe blames being asleep. Philip says at least he got here in time. Chloe complains that there is nothing going on, but instead of trusting her, he flies here in a jealous rage. Philip shouts that it’s not her he doesn’t trust, it’s Brady.

Paulina notes Allie’s last name being Horton and questions Johnny being her twin with a different father. Chanel says it can happen. Paulina says it happens in Salem and asks how Chanel found all this out. Chanel explains that Tripp suggested a double date and she thought great because she wanted Johnny to meet Allie, but that’s when she found out they were twins. Paulina asks what the problem is. Chanel reminds Paulina of when she told Johnny that she kissed a girl. Paulina questions why it matters if she’s in to Johnny and Allie is in to Tripp. Chanel responds that it matters to Allie since she and Johnny were back at his place when Allie came barging in and went off on Johnny, saying he’s just a player and that she needed to run the other direction.

EJ asks Johnny why Allie would have a problem with him dating one of her friends. Johnny says that Allie says it’s because he’s a player and would hurt Chanel. EJ felt Chanel seemed like she could hold her own and asks why Allie would think she needed her protection. Johnny suggests that Allie is jealous of them. EJ asks why she would be jealous. Johnny informs him that Allie and Chanel had a thing and they kissed. EJ questions if he is telling him that his sister is gay.

Allie explains to Nicole how she had no idea that Johnny was dating Chanel and complains about seeing how Johnny is with girls. Allie says that Johnny only cares about the chase and she felt Chanel deserved to know that, so she had to go warn her, but it didn’t go over great as Johnny got furious and defensive. Allie notes that it was good that Chanel left though. Nicole asks how Johnny felt. Allie reveals that Johnny had the nerve to call him jealous, as if her feelings for Chanel go beyond friendship which she calls totally ridiculous. Nicole asks if she’s sure.

Rafe questions Ava seeing Nicole in his arms. Ava tells him that after she stormed out this morning, she ran in to Steve and it was a good thing because Steve was nice and surprisingly helpful. Ava adds that Steve reminded her that when she cares deeply for someone, she can become paranoid and obsessed, so he told her not to do that with Rafe. Rafe says he didn’t see that coming. Ava says she thought about what Steve said and came back to apologize to Rafe, but she saw him and Nicole. Ava admits she was upset and took a walk to try to clear her head and she talked to Tripp, but the entire time she couldn’t stop thinking about them and seeing him with Nicole. Ava says she decided to come home and pack up her bags. Ava tells Rafe that he can finally be with Nicole. Ava says goodbye to Rafe but he stops her and tells her that she has it all wrong. Rafe then informs Ava that he was saying goodbye to Nicole. Ava questions what he means. Rafe explains that he told Nicole that they fought about her and she saw Ava’s point of view and admitted she had been leaning on him too much ever since losing to Eric and that it wasn’t fair to Ava. Rafe adds that Nicole said she felt bad about causing the fight between them and that they should stay apart so he and Ava could get back on track. Ava acknowledges that as very nice of her but points out it’s not entirely up to her. Ava asks Rafe who he wants; her or Nicole?

Allie asks Nicole why she would be jealous of Johnny and Chanel when she’s with Tripp now. Nicole says that doesn’t mean she can’t be jealous since she and Chanel are close and shared a lot. Nicole says she’s not trying to put her on the spot but she’s telling her that she understands because she felt the same way when Ava told her that she was dating Rafe. Nicole talks about how she bad mouthed Ava to Rafe and admits that was not her finest moment but then she started getting possessive about Rafe. Nicole admits that she was jealous of Ava being happy. Allie asks if she thinks that’s why she trashed Johnny. Nicole doesn’t know but says she had to be honest with herself about how she felt about Rafe. Allie asks if he was more than a friend. Nicole says she’s been a mess since losing Eric and realized she couldn’t make her stuff an issue for Ava and Rafe, so she decided to step away from the situation. Nicole apologizes for making this about herself but tells Allie that the point is, she needs to be honest about why it bothers her so much that her brother is dating her best friend.

Johnny tells EJ that Allie isn’t gay as she is dating Tripp and Chanel is not gay either. EJ questions Allie and Chanel kissing. Johnny confirms that they did a couple times and guesses they were just experimenting since Allie made it clear to Chanel that they were just friends. EJ feels Allie shouldn’t have a problem with him seeing Chanel then. Johnny agrees but says that she does and she’s jealous whether she wants to admit it or not, which is why she came over to make him look bad and scare Chanel off. EJ guesses that it worked.

Chanel tells Paulina about how Allie told her that Johnny is a total player and that he’s only interested in getting a girl in bed. Paulina notes that she didn’t get that vibe from Johnny. Chanel points out that Allie has known Johnny all her life. Paulina feels she has a sixth sense about people and she would’ve warned her if she thought Johnny was trouble. Chanel feels she can’t just ignore what Allie said since she is his twin sister. Paulina thinks Allie was just looking out for her. Paulina then brings up that they had a thing, so she questions if Allie protecting her or if she just wants her for herself.

Philip reminds Brady that he warned him that if he touched Chloe, he would kill him. Brady tells him to go ahead and try. Chloe shouts at them both to stop it. Chloe tells Brady that it’s not funny and that Philip is so far out of line that she could kill him herself. Chloe asks Brady for a moment alone so he storms out of the room. Chloe tells Philip that he’s crossed a line and that he’s not protecting her but demeaning her. Chloe declares that she’s not going to let his jealousy dictate how she lives her life and if he can’t get past that then they are through. Philip tells Chloe that he’s got it. Chloe reminds him that she made a commitment to him, but he got on a plane in the middle of the night to the middle of nowhere because he doesn’t trust that she can keep that commitment. Philip clarifies that he doesn’t trust Brady. Chloe responds that she does and tells him to deal with it. Philip complains that Brady pushes his buttons and makes him crazy. Philip swears that he does trust Chloe and he will get over it as he’s learned his lesson. Philip suggests they get out of here because he has a working jet, so he can take her to New York where Titan has a corporate suite. Philip says Brady can stay here until his plane gets repaired and meet her in New York tomorrow. Chloe argues that she and Brady traveled together on a business trip, so she’s not leaving him. Philip decides to let Brady come with them but Chloe says no and tells Philip to go home while she and Brady stay. Philip questions leaving her alone in the same bed as Brady. Chloe asks if he trusts her.

Rafe tells Ava that he wants them to be honest with each other and he realizes that things between he and Nicole got a little more intense than he thought. Rafe says he and Nicole are really close and she was going through hell, so he admits there was a time he thought about her as maybe more than a friend but he doesn’t think that would’ve ever happened if Eric didn’t leave Nicole for a year. Rafe understands how that upset Ava. Ava says it’s in his DNA to take care of the damsel in distress. Rafe calls Nicole a friend who was unhappy so he was just trying to help her. Ava says that he ended up falling for her. Rafe admits he may have had some thoughts that a friend shouldn’t have for another friend, but he never acted on them. Rafe asks if Ava can tell him that she would never be attracted to another man and if she was, she would give up on everything without trying to work things out. Rafe repeats that Nicole felt really bad about everything that happened so they decided to stay apart from each other so that he and Ava can work things out, unless she doesn’t want that.

Allie tells Nicole that she really thought she was protecting Chanel. Nicole doesn’t think Chanel needs a lot of protecting. Allie agrees that she was just telling herself that and admits maybe she was jealous. Allie feels like a fool and worries about what Tripp will think since she ditched him to stop Chanel from sleeping with Johnny. Nicole points out that she and Tripp have been through worse. Allie notes that Chanel was great when she chose Tripp over her, so she wonders how she is going to fix all of this.

Chanel questions Paulina thinking that Allie is jealous of her own brother. Paulina thinks Allie is still in to Chanel. Chanel argues that Allie had her chance with her and didn’t take it as she said she just wanted to be friends. Paulina argues that friends don’t tell friends who they can and can’t see. Chanel comments that she’s always had boyfriends but she’s never had a friend like Allie, so maybe she should stop seeing Johnny.

Johnny tells EJ that it sounded like Allie and Chanel are really tight friends that trust each other, so he thinks Chanel will believe what Allie said. EJ suggests he prove her wrong. EJ encourages him to see Chanel often without making a move on her and make her see that he doesn’t want to just get her in to bed. Johnny wonders if Chanel wants to see him at all. EJ thinks Chanel will want to form her own opinion about him. EJ advises Johnny to take it slow and give her breathing space. Johnny can’t believe he’s talking about this with his dad. EJ notes that there used to be a time when they would talk about everything and he misses that. EJ suggests maybe that’s why he wants him to work at DiMera since if they work together, they can have that back again. Johnny laughs it off and responds that he’s trying to figure out which one of them is the player here. EJ questions what that is supposed to mean. Johnny says that all of EJ’s parental concern tonight was just a ploy to reel him in to what he wants him to do. EJ wants Johnny to know what it really means to be a DiMera. EJ says it’s not money or power, but family working together and their connection to Stefano. Johnny responds that he’s sorry but he’s not a company kind of guy, he’s a film maker. EJ remarks that he’s just a rich kid playing with his phone. EJ calls making movies a pipe dream and asks if he really thinks Chanel is going to fall for a guy who has a dream that he can’t make happen.

Paulina questions Chanel walking away from a boy she really likes because that’s what Allie wants. Chanel says she’s trying to do the right thing. Paulina says when she met Abe, she probably should’ve walked away because of his past with Tamara but they both felt they had something real. Paulina encourages that Chanel and Johnny could have something special too. Chanel asks what if it ends her friendship with Allie. Paulina says if she’s really her friend, that won’t happen, because she deserves to be happy without anyone’s permission. Paulina advises Chanel to never be afraid to go after what you want.

Nicole tells Allie that she and Tripp will work this out. Allie doesn’t know how to face Johnny or Chanel. Nicole says she just had a bad night but she’s been a good friend and sister, so they won’t want to lose her either.

Ava tells Rafe that she wants to be with him more than anything, but not if he wants to be with Nicole. Rafe says he would like to be friends with Nicole again, unless that makes her uncomfortable. Ava says she’s not trying to control him because his feelings are his feelings. Rafe says he was honest with her about Nicole, so now he wants to be honest with her about her. Rafe assures Ava that she is the woman that he wants to be with. Rafe hopes they can get past what happened and asks if she thinks they can do that.

Philip assures Chloe that he trusts her. Chloe tells him to act like he does then. Brady comes back in and says the night manager threatened him for loitering. Chloe tells him that Philip was just leaving. Brady mocks him. Philip tells Chloe that he hopes she has a productive meeting tomorrow and kisses her. Philip says he can’t wait for her to come home as he exits the room. Brady asks if Chloe wants to try this again as he gets back in to the bed.

Ava tells Rafe that she does want to be with him. Rafe tells her how happy that makes him. Ava cries that she’s never felt this way with any other man, so when she knew he wanted Nicole, it just hurt. Rafe insists that they can make this work and every couple has ups and downs, but it’s how they deal with the downs that matters. Ava asks Rafe if he can take her bag to unpack. Rafe kisses her and says he thought she’d never ask. Rafe picks up her bag and they head back to the bedroom.

Nicole tells Allie that they should get some sleep. Allie thanks her for listening and for everything she’s done for her and Henry. Nicole assures that she will get through this as they hug.

Paulina and Chanel hug. Paulina knows she has been tough on her but tells her to never doubt how much she loves her. Chanel says she loves her too.

Johnny tells EJ that he’s wrong since Chanel would understand having a dream, as she didn’t let anyone get in her way of starting her own bakery. Johnny declares that he’s going to make his movie and when his film opens, Chanel will be right there with him. EJ remarks that he warned him when Chanel wants nothing to do with him. EJ then exits and heads upstairs as Johnny takes a drink.

Chloe decides to make a bed on the floor with pillows and a blanket because her back is fine, while Brady sleeps in the bed.

Young & The Restless Update

Recap written by Christine

Elena showed up at ChancComm to talk with Lily. Elena wanted the job, but… Lily interjected to try and convince Elena to accept. Lily promised that they’d work around Elena’s schedule. Elena actually thought they should change the format of AskMDNow. Right now, people had to go to the site to look up information. Elena wanted to emulate the model at the clinic, where they engaged with the community and they were proactive about reaching out to them. Lily asked how to translate that to an online setting. Elena said they’d do advertising outreach and focus on preventative care instead of just treating symptoms. “Elena, we are gonna do some great things together,” Lily stated, with a smile.

At the main house, Adam went over the agenda for the launch party with Victor. Victor objected the fact that he was scheduled to speak four times while Adam was only going to speak once. Adam knew people would expect to hear from Victor, but Victor felt that, as CEO, Adam needed to take a more public role. Adam agreed to do more speaking. Nikki showed Nick into the house. Nick was here to follow up on the conversation from earlier. Adam was finished, so he told Nick to go ahead, but Nick said it was a private matter. Adam understood and got up to leave. He thanked Nick for convincing Phyllis to let them have the launch party at The Grand Phoenix, even though two of her least favorite people would be hosting. Victor said they paid her a hell of a lot of money, and she’d also profit from selling out all those suites. Victor looked over the guest list and was unhappy to see that Billy was somehow on it. Adam said he invited Lily and Billy as a matter of professional courtesy. He figured that if he didn’t invite Billy, he’d show up anyway. Nikki said that if it was Adam’s goal to trick Billy into declining, it didn’t work, because he RSVP’d yes. Adam didn’t mind – Billy would have a few drinks, make an ass of himself and pout. Victor told Adam not to be so glib – this was an important evening, and Billy would love nothing more than to throw a wrench into it. Victor thought they should’ve squashed that company like a bug. Nick said doing that would’ve unfairly affected Lily, which could cause friction with Devon, and Victoria wouldn’t be happy either. “Who gives a damn?,” Victor asked. He didn’t understand why Victoria defended Billy after all he’d done to her. Nick noted that he was the father of her children. Nick added that he and Billy had found some common ground on certain issues. Adam and Nikki both had some separate things to do before the party, so they left.

Nick was there to talk about their investigation. Like Victor, Nick didn’t think they should share anything they uncovered with Billy. However, Nick wanted to keep up to date with Billy’s investigation, just in case Billy’s team found something. Victor didn’t want Nick to communicate with Billy at all. Nick pointed out that Billy’s team might be the one to find skeletons in Ashland’s closet, if said skeletons existed. He said that if they truly believed Victoria could be in trouble, they should use every resource they could. Nick promised that he wouldn’t share anything that Victor’s team uncovered with Billy. Victor noted, as Nick and Nikki had pointed out, there might not be any dirt to find on Ashland. He excused himself to get ready for the party. Later, after Nick was gone, Victor spoke with Abby on the phone. She couldn’t make it tonight. He understood she had to keep an eye on that beautiful boy. He was glad she, Mariah and the baby were healthy. Victor saw Nikki after she got ready for the party, and he admired her beauty.

The Grand Phoenix was decorated for the Newman Media launch party. Phyllis made some last minute arrangements for the event, and she said through her headset that they had the pickiest, most pain-in-the-ass people coming tonight. Billy showed up and told Phyllis he was there for a drink. She thought it was odd that he was getting a drink now when he’d be here at the party tonight. He found it odd that she was hosting the party, but she said she was getting paid, while he was here voluntarily. He joked that he was here for the oysters, but she knew he didn’t like oysters. She asked what he was up to.

Phyllis stated that Billy’s half-smile told her that she wouldn’t like what he was up to. “All you need to know is what you already know. We protect our own,” he replied. He stated that she went to the mat for Summer, and he was prepared to do the same for Johnny and Katie. She realized he was talking about Ashland and Victoria. He asked what Phyllis knew about Ashland. She said he was bossy, obnoxious and arrogant. She stated that he gave temporary custody of Harrison to Kyle and Summer. In a mocking tone, she added that everyone thought it was so selfish and generous, but she thought Ashland was definitely dark. Those weren’t great qualities for a stepdad. Billy said Victoria needed to know the facts before she married Ashland. Phyllis said Newman women loved men with dark streaks, which Billy should know, since Victoria was with him once. Phyllis told Billy that if he dug up something from Ashland’s past, it had to be something terrible, not a shady business deal, or Victoria wouldn’t care. Billy didn’t know about that. Phyllis predicted that if Billy found out Ashland stole from an orphanage, Victoria would say that it was a long time ago, and Ashland had changed. “Yeah, she’s got a big heart,” Billy replied, and Phyllis scoffed. Phyllis warned Billy that he’d get hurt if Victoria found out he did a background check on Ashland. He noted that she wasn’t the first to warn him about that.

Sally went to Crimson Lights. Jack was there, and she thanked him for stopping her from losing her cool with Phyllis. She appreciated him being a good influence on her. He was polite, but distant with her. She told him that she was working for Newman Media. He already knew. She saw the guest list, so she knew he’d be at the party. She just wanted him to know in advance that he’d be there too, so he wouldn’t be surprised to see her. “Just how fragile do you think I am?,” he asked. She just didn’t want him to think she was following him. He said the thought never occurred to him, and it wouldn’t have mattered if it did. She seemed thrown by his response. She said okay and walked away.

Sally came back and accused Jack of going out of his way to make her feel small and insignificant. She said he was deliberately hurtful, and that was beneath him. He asked if she was finished. She scoffed and said she was finished trying to play this game she couldn’t win. She was who she was, and she was proud of herself and what she accomplished. She had the tools and drive to make a success of herself. He said she always did, which was the shame of it. She was uninterested in him giving her lectures, pitying looks or brilliant advice. She snapped that she was making a fresh start with people who accepted her, and it felt really good. She no longer gave a damn what he thought of her. She stormed off to the patio. Sally noticed Jack leave. She called Adam and thanked him for the invitation to accompany him to the launch party. She said she’d love to be his date.

Victoria and Ashland were at home. He admitted he’d had a hard day, due to the chemo. She suggested they skip the launch party. He said Cyaxares was his baby before it became Newman Media, and he was still on the board. It would be bad form not to attend. He said Dr. Hastings gave him some vitamins, so he’d probably be able to stay on his feet for a couple hours. Victoria was sure Nate wouldn’t want him pushing himself to exhaustion. She suggested they skip the non-essential events so he would be ready for the most important one – their wedding. He promised he’d be ready for that. She didn’t want to go to the launch party anyway. Part of her really wanted to see Adam and Newman Media fall flat on their smug faces.

Ashland knew that Victoria and Adam’s history went deeper than Cyaxares, but he wondered how deep it went. She knew Ashland read Billy’s article on Adam, which should provide answers. Ashland conceded that Adam did some terrible things, but Victor was no saint, and Victoria seemed to have made her peace with him. Victoria said Victor was her dad – she’d idolized him since childhood, and she’d always seen the good in him. She didn’t think of Adam the same way she thought of Nick and Abby. She didn’t get to know Adam until they were adults, and by then he was… “Competition?,” Ashland asked. Victoria said no – this wasn’t about their rivalry – Adam was conniving and vicious. She saw the anguish he caused the people she loved. He assumed she was speaking of Delia. She said Delia was special, then she was gone, and Billy would never be the same. Ashland could understand why Billy relentlessly went after Adam and why he was so fiercely protective of his own children. Ashland assumed Billy wouldn’t let up on him, but he didn’t mind. He’d experienced worse. However, it bothered him that these articles Billy published on him would be online after he was gone. He hated to think Harrison would read these stories when Ashland wasn’t around to defend himself. “I’ll be happy to pass on anything you want me to to Harrison about your life, or your past,” Victoria offered. Ashland appreciated that. She noted that he’d already told him about the older woman who mentored him. Smiling, she asked if there were any other secrets she should know about.

“Secrets? It sounds so mysterious when you put it that way,” Ashland stated. Victoria recapped the story she’d been told – a woman took Ashland under her wing, she died, then he bought her two television stations. That was mysterious, in Victoria’s opinion. Ashland didn’t think it was a secret. The story had been around for so long. He was glad to answer any questions Victoria had about it. He suddenly grabbed his head and said he needed to rest. She said she’d go get him some chicken soup from Society – Sharon swore it got her through chemotherapy.

Victoria saw Nick having a beer at the Society bar, and she commented on him drinking alone in the afternoon. He said he needed a quiet place to think. She accepted his invitation to join him. She was sure he knew Victor was having Ashland investigated. It was a slap in the face, in her opinion, but Nick said it was coming from a place of love. Victoria assumed Nick wasn’t okay with this. Nick didn’t know. He’d told Phyllis to stay out of Summer’s business, then it turned out that her instincts about Sally and Tara were right. Victoria said that this was different – this was about Victor not trusting her judgment. Nick didn’t think that was true. He said Victor just wanted Victoria to be able to make an informed decision. She asked what dastardly deeds Victor uncovered. Nick admitted it wasn’t incriminating, but it was puzzling. He went on to tell the story of Ashland, the older lady and the two television stations. He added that nobody knew where twenty year old Ashland got the money to buy the stations. Victoria said Ashland already told her the entire story. Nick asked if Ashland mentioned where he got the money. Victoria didn’t think it mattered, unless he stole it.

Victoria received her order of chicken soup, and she and Nick talked about how hard the chemo was hitting Ashland. Nick thought that was rough, and Victoria said the last thing Ashland needed was his future father in law accusing him of God knows what. Nick mentioned that Victor hoped he didn’t find anything in Ashland’s past. Victor liked and respected Ashland. Victoria said she’d hate to see what disrespect looked like. “You already did. Billy – remember that,” Nick replied. Victoria didn’t think telling Ashland that Victor treated Billy worse would help. Victoria asked Nick to give their parents her regrets, because she wouldn’t be at the party. He asked if she’d like to send a message to their brother. When she scoffed, he pointed out that Adam saved her niece’s life. Victoria relented and said to tell Adam “Good job.” Nick knew that if Victor came to Victoria and said Ashland’s past was clean, she’d be relieved, and she might even thank him for his efforts. Victoria didn’t know about that, but she might forgive Victor by her wedding day. She told him to have fun at the party, then she left.

Later, Victoria came into the living room, and Ashland was asleep on the couch. She offered him another bowl of soup, which he turned down, and he thanked her for taking such good care of him. He was going to bed, and he suggested she go to the party. She didn’t want to go. He said that this would probably be a way for her to score points with her father, and she’d probably get under Adam’s skin as well. She said he made it sound tempting, but all she wanted to do was spend time with him. She asked if he was really tired, or if he was just saying that to get her out of the door. He had been tired, but he said she was right about the restorative power of the soup.

Nikki and Victor arrived at the hotel, and Phyllis made small talk with them. She congratulated them on the birth of the new grandchild. They said thanks, and Victor asked if Adam was around. Phyllis hadn’t seen him. Phyllis showed Victor continued to the lounge, where one of the board members was waiting, while Nikki took a call from Victoria. Nikki was disappointed Victoria wouldn’t be coming. Nick arrived and overheard Phyllis trying to deal with the incompetence of the people running the event. She ended the call and vented to Nick. She said that these people weren’t her employees – it was a group that she hired to handle the party. The group kept screwing up, and she’d need pampering after this. They started flirting, which she stopped when she saw Nikki walk over. Shortly afterward, Phyllis had to walk away because the party planners had messed up something else. Nikki told Nick that Victoria and Ashland weren’t coming. She doubted they would’ve come even if Ashland were feeling well, since Victoria was frustrated with Victor over the investigation. Nikki assumed that Nick went to the main house to talk about that. He saw Lily and Billy walk in and said they’d talk about that later.

Lily hoped Devon didn’t feel weird about coming here after what happened last time. Their family had come so far since then. Billy didn’t engage in the conversation Lily tried to start, leading her to assume that he was going to focus on Victoria and Ashland all night. Nick walked over and said Victoria wasn’t here, so if that was the only reason Billy showed up, he didn’t need to stay. Billy intended to stay because there were a lot of powerful people here that he needed to talk to, and Phyllis’s party always had fireworks. Lily asked if Victoria wasn’t coming because she found out Victor was investigating Ashland. Nick said Victoria did find out, and she wasn’t happy, but she skipped the party because Ashland had his second chemo session, and he didn’t feel well. Lily understood. Billy wondered if it was a cover story, and Nick stated that he saw Victoria picking up soup for Ashland. Billy was curious if Nick asked Victoria about Ashland and the widow. Lily pulled Billy away to talk with Nate and Elena.

Jack showed up and complimented the way Phyllis and the hotel looked. She tried to talk to him about some pictures Summer and Kyle sent of themselves and Harrison, but he didn’t seem to want to discuss it. She understood since those pictures were like a dagger to her heart. He said he was tempted to ask Billy to bring his kids over to visit, because the Abbott house felt so empty. She mentioned that Billy was here. Jack wished Billy would stay away from Adam. Things were going well for Billy in his personal and professional life, so why borrow trouble, Jack asked. Phyllis noted that a lot of Billy’s success at ChancComm was tied to his relationship with Adam and Victor. Jack said it was a double edged sword. He didn’t think they should get sucked into all that misery.

Elena was excited about getting dressed up, and she lamented that there weren’t more opportunities for that. Lily suggested that she, Billy, Elena and Nate all get dressed up for a double date sometime, and they all liked the idea. Elena got called to the hospital. Nate offered to go with her, but she told him to stay. She hoped she’d be back before the party was over.

Victor asked Nick to keep an eye on Billy. Nick already talked to him, and it sounded like he was just here for the party. Victor didn’t buy it. Nick agreed to keep an eye on Billy. Nick walked away, and Nikki joined Victor. She assumed, by the look on his face, that Nick told him the news. Victor didn’t know what Nikki meant. Nikki’s jaw dropped when Adam walked in with Sally on his arm.

All eyes turned toward Sally and Adam. “Son of a bitch,” Phyllis muttered. Jack said Sally told him she was coming, but she didn’t mention with whom. Phyllis decided to kick Sally out, but Jack said she couldn’t make the co-host’s date leave. He noted that Phyllis had an event to run, and he told her not to get side tracked. Phyllis predicted that Sally and Adam would bring each other down.

Sally noted that everyone was staring, and Adam said good – it was a Newman Media launch, so everyone should pay attention to the employees. Sally thanked Adam for the invitation and said it wsa going to be fun. Adam and Billy locked eyes from across the room, and Billy raised his glass. “It is, indeed,” Adam replied to Sally, and they clinked glasses.

Days of Our Lives Update

Update written by Joseph

Allie questions Tripp about Chanel and Johnny almost having sex, asking when Chanel told Tripp that. Tripp tells her it was when he ran in to her in the town square earlier. Allie argues that it’s a very private thing to tell a guy that she barely knows. Tripp agrees but thinks that Chanel was just really excited as she seems very in to Johnny.

Chanel asks if Johnny believes her now that she’s over Allie. Johnny calls it a start but thinks he’ll need more convincing so they continue kissing.

Philip is at the Brady Pub when he gets a call from Chloe. Philip asks how New York is. Chloe reveals that she’s not there yet because the DiMera Jet had some type of mechanical problem mid-flight. Chloe says she’s fine but she and Brady are stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Shawn finishes a call with Claire as Ben and Ciara enter. Ciara asks how Claire is. Shawn says she’s good and loving her job in South Africa. Ciara asks if Claire said anything about Theo. Shawn assures that he’s doing alright. Shawn asks what Ciara and Ben are doing here. Ciara then informs Shawn that she and Ben are leaving Salem. Shawn questions them leaving town right after Claire. Ciara clarifies that they aren’t leaving permanently. Shawn says she should’ve said vacation then instead of leaving town. Ciara apologizes. Shawn says he was just getting used to having her back. Shawn asks what it is. Ben brings up that they never had a real honeymoon, so they are going to take off for a little while.

Philip asks Chloe where they are. Chloe says they are on a private air strip near Wilkes-Barre and they are stranded until they fix the jet. Philip calls it a nightmare. Chloe says she had to tell Parker she won’t be seeing him tonight and they had to reschedule their meeting. Philip knew this trip was a bad idea and hopes that Brady is taking charge to get her out of there as soon as possible. Chloe assures that it’s not Brady’s fault. Chloe mentions staying at a motel. Philip gets upset and questions her and Brady staying in a motel. Chloe assures that it’s just for tonight. Philip says it better be and tells her to call him when she gets to New York. They say goodnight and hang up. Brady then shows up at Chloe’s door, soaking wet and declares it’s officially the business trip from Hell.

Belle enters the Brady Pub and sees Philip slam his laptop shut. Belle asks what’s wrong. Philip responds that Brady is still after Chloe and he’s not being subtle about it.

Tripp hopes he didn’t betray Chanel’s confidence by telling Allie about her and Johnny. Allie says that Chanel would’ve told her eventually and asks if she mentioned why they didn’t hook up. Tripp says it was because neither of them had a condom. Allie says thank God for that which Tripp questions. Allie points out that Chanel could get pregnant. Allie says she loves Henry but he deserves to have a father. Tripp asks if she doesn’t think Johnny would step up. Allie calls Johnny more of a love em and leave em type, which is why she doesn’t think it’s a good idea that he and Chanel are dating. Allie declares that somebody is definitely going to get their heart broken.

Johnny tells Chanel that it’s the cook’s day off so all he has is peanut butter and jelly sandwiches which she accepts. Chanel looks to the portrait of Stefano and asks who he is. Johnny informs her that it’s Stefano DiMera. Chanel comments that he looks like the guy you don’t mess with. Johnny admits a lot of people were afraid of Stefano, but he was always good to him. Johnny adds that Stefano is the one who called him Giovanni. Chanel asks which he prefers to be called. He says he’s used to either one, so she can call him whatever she wants, as long as she calls him.

Philip informs Belle that now Chloe and Brady are staying in a motel tonight. Belle doesn’t see how Brady is trying to take Chloe away from him. Philip doesn’t think the jet just happened to have mechanical problems as Brady could’ve paid off the pilot to fake an emergency landing. Belle asks what he’d get out of that since they were staying overnight anyways. Philip argues that in New York, Chloe would’ve been with Parker and her parents while now Brady has her all to himself in the middle of nowhere. Belle questions him believing that Brady would deprive Chloe of seeing her son just to get her alone. Philip thinks Brady would stoop to anything to get Chloe back as he does not trust him one bit.

Chloe gives Brady a towel and asks why he’s so wet. Brady informs her that he walked in to his motel room and found an elderly couple going at it. Brady says he tried to leave but the old man called him a pervert and dumped a bucket of ice water on him as he was walking out. Chloe laughs at the story. Chloe jokes that she’s grateful that the old man didn’t hurt him. Brady jokes that he’ll never be able to forget what he saw in there. Chloe guesses they double booked the room. Brady mentions that they don’t have any other rooms available because they are painting. Chloe asks what he’s going to do then. Brady was hoping he could stay in Chloe’s room. Chloe questions if Brady is telling her the truth.

Shawn asks Ben and Ciara where they are going for their honeymoon. Ciara mentions that Ben wanted to just go back to the cabin. Ben points out that he just fixed it all up. Ciara tells him he did a great job but they just got back from there and it’s not honeymoon material, which Ben and Shawn agree with. Ciara informs Shawn that they decided on a place important to Hope and Bo, New Orleans. Shawn recalls Hope and Bo’s first wedding being there. Ciara calls it a big turning point for them. Shawn says they had some great years after that. Ben says they will too.

Brady questions Chloe thinking he made this up. Chloe says it sounds a little convenient and that he has been open about his feelings for her. Brady jokes about the idea of paying off the pilot and the desk clerk then the old man who dumped ice water on him. Chloe points out that he still hasn’t answered her question. Brady tells her no, he did not plan any of this and he thinks she knows her too well to do something this underhanded. Brady remarks that it’s more Philip’s style. Chloe tells him not to start on Philip since he’s not a saint either. Brady admits that he doesn’t like that Chloe is with Philip, but he respects her decision. Brady adds that if she’s not comfortable with sharing a room with him, he will go sleep in the lobby. Chloe stops him and agrees to let him stay the night. Brady thanks her but Chloe notes that Philip won’t be happy about this.

Belle tells Philip that he’s being paranoid as no one is trying to take anything from him. Belle adds that his fries are getting cold while he’s ranting about Brady. Philip insists that he’s not wrong about this and that Belle could help him prove it. Philip says Belle works for DiMera, so she must know how to get in touch with the pilot. Philip asks Belle to give him a call and say she heard about the emergency landing. Belle tells him that Brady is still getting over Kristen, so he’s not spending his time trying to win Chloe back. Philip points out that Brady found time to take Chloe as his date to Eric and Nicole’s anniversary party. Belle calls that platonic but Philip points out that Brady also kissed her. Belle points out that Brady being interested in Chloe doesn’t mean she is interested in him. Belle tells Philip that Chloe chose him and asks if he trusts her. Philip tells Belle to call the pilot.

Chanel and Johnny finish their food. Chanel asks what they do now. Johnny suggests going to the pool. Chanel notes that she doesn’t have a swimsuit. Johnny says he doesn’t either but they can still go. Chanel doesn’t want everyone looking and says she was raised with class. Johnny doesn’t know if she will like his next suggestion then. Chanel says she’ll probably go for it if it’s not being naked in front of everybody. Johnny suggests they run upstairs to his room and pick up where they left off last night. Johnny adds that he came prepared this time. Chanel asks how she could say no.

Tripp tells Allie that he thinks Johnny was just as in to Chanel as she was in to him. Allie argues that if Johnny truly liked Chanel and respected her, he wouldn’t have tried to get her in bed after one date. Tripp guesses the feeling was mutual but Allie insists that Johnny is using Chanel. Allie decides that she has to go have a talk with her brother and it can’t wait. Tripp offers to go with her but Allie says this is between her and Johnny, so she’ll be back in a little while. Tripp questions if that’s really a good idea as Allie hurries out the door. Tripp then wonders what just happened.

Brady questions Chloe thinking that Philip would have a problem with them sharing the same room for just one night. Chloe argues that he knows that he would since he hates the idea of them even taking a trip together. Brady informs Chloe that Philip said he would kill him if he was inappropriate. Chloe notes that Philip would definitely think it’s inappropriate that they are sharing a motel room. Brady asks if he really has to know. Chloe questoins lying to Philip. Brady suggests just not telling him. Chloe calls that a lie of omission. Brady jokes about it then says she can tell Philip and watch him freak out, but adds that he’s not afraid of him. Chloe asks how she gets herself into these messes. Brady thinks she should ask herself why she wants to be with someone that she can’t be honest with.

Belle argues that Philip isn’t thinking this through. Philip asks what there is to think about. Belle says even if Brady paid off the pilot to make an emergency landing, the pilot wouldn’t admit it. Philip agrees and suggests offering him a lot of money. Belle says she won’t help him bribe somebody. Philip calls it a favor for an old friend. Belle notes that he’s starting to sound a little desperate. Philip says that he is as he feels like this is his last chance at getting things right with Chloe, so he can’t let her slip through his fingers again. Belle calls it a short trip and asks what could happen. Philip brings up the time Brady and Chloe went to North Dakota to find Chloe’s biological father in the summer after high school. Philip notes that things were going well for he and Chloe but Brady came in and stole her away from him. Belle argues that Brady didn’t set out to do that and was just trying to help her. Philip feels it doesn’t matter because he still lost her. Philip declares that he’s not going to let history repeat itself, so he’s going to get himself to Wilkes-Barre, Pennyslvania before it’s too late.

Shawn asks when Ciara and Ben are heading out. They say they are leaving tonight. Ben says they should get going but Shawn invites them to stick around for dessert that Belle is bringing from the Pub. They agree to stay. Shawn adds that as they wait, he can give them their wedding present which ties in to their honeymoon.

Ava goes to Allie’s apartment where Tripp answers the door and asks what she’s doing there. Ava explains that she made too much food for dinner so she thought she’d use it as an excuse to come see her grandson. Tripp informs her that Henry isn’t there as Steve and Kayla are babysitting. Ava says that’s disappointing but asks if Tripp and Allie already ate. Tripp informs her that Allie isn’t home either. Ava questions her leaving him there all alone and where she went.

Allie goes to the DiMera Mansion to confront Johnny, interrupting he and Chanel. Johnny asks what she thinks she’s doing. Allie responds that she could ask him the same question.

Philip remarks that no one better be using the Titan jet. Belle takes Philip’s phone and says she’s saving him from making an ass of himself. Philip argues that Brady could be making his move right now. Belle suggests they play this out. Belle says if Philip goes to Wilkes-Barre and barges in to Chloe’s room, where she’s most likely sleeping alone. Philip points out that she said most likely so she left room for doubt. Belle asks how that will make him look to Chloe. Philip feels like a man in love while Belle says he’d be like a total psycho. Philip says he can bring flowers and champagne and say he came to surprise her. Belle feels she would see right through that and that Philip doesn’t trust her, which could drive her right in to Brady’s arms. Belle tells Philip to stop his paranoid jealousy and chill out.

Chloe tells Brady that she can be honest with Philip about everything except Brady. Brady asks why that is. Chloe says for one thing, they used to be married. Brady reminds her that a couple months ago, she said she wanted him back. Chloe reminds him that he said he wasn’t interested so she got over him, even when he kissed her. Brady notes that he wasn’t aware she had gotten over him when he kissed her. Chloe assures that she has and she’s still over him. Chloe states that Brady is just a touchy subject with Philip. Brady says that Philip is just insanely jealous. Chloe argues that Brady pushes his buttons. Chloe feels there was no reason for her to come on this trip and that Brady only asked her to come because he knew it would upset Philip. Brady says he asked her to come because she’s a vital asset to the company. Chloe questions him having no other agenda and tells him to be honest. Brady admits he likes spending time with her and asks if that’s wrong. Chloe says it is wrong since she has a boyfriend. Chloe declares that the problem here isn’t Philip, it’s Brady.

Tripp eats with Ava and comments that he can’t believe Rafe didn’t finish it. Ava points out that Rafe didn’t eat any of it since he called at the last minute and said he was working late. Tripp tells Ava about Allie’s twin brother Johnny just showing up a few days ago and he’s already dating Allie’s friend Chanel. Tripp adds that Allie just found out tonight and she’s not too happy about it. Ava asks why. Tripp says that she said Johnny is a player so she went to tell him to back off. Tripp notes that she was pretty worked up. Ava asks what has Tripp so bothered about this. Tripp explains that Allie says she needs to stop Johnny from hurting her best friend, but this friend is pretty good at taking care of herself. Tripp wonders if Allie is so protective because she’s jealous.

Chanel questions what Allie is doing here. Allie says she’s here to talk to her brother and asks what Chanel is doing here. Johnny says they are on date so Allie can wait until tomorrow. Allie questions if they are going upstairs to finish what they started last night. Johnny asks how she knows about that. Chanel apologizes for over sharing. Johnny argues that it’s not a problem. Allie says it is because she doesn’t want Johnny charming her friend in to bed like he does every other girl he meets. Allie warns Chanel that if she sleeps with Johnny, he will just move on to the next one. Johnny argues that she doesn’t know anything about him. Allie says he used to come home and brag about it to her. Johnny says that was five years ago. Allie questions if she’s really changed. Johnny doesn’t like Allie trashing him in front of Chanel and tells her to go. Allie says she’s sorry but she’s not going anywhere.

Ava brings up Tripp telling her that Allie and Chanel kissed once. Tripp reveals that it happened twice and that Allie admitted that she felt something for Chanel. Ava questions if she found herself attracted to an old friend. Tripp says it doesn’t matter because she chose him instead. Ava asks why Allie is so bothered that her brother is friends with Chanel. Tripp doesn’t know and it bothers him. Ava tells Tripp that if an old friendship is suddenly turning in to something new, he can’t tell himself that it doesn’t matter or it’s not happening. Ava advises Tripp to talk to Allie and find out exactly where he stands, or else he might find himself as the odd man out and that’s a lonely place to be.

Johnny tells Allie to go. Allie argues that this is what Johnny always does, sleep with girls and then toss them aside. Johnny swears he would never do that to Chanel. Allie thinks he is already playing games. Johnny tells her it’s none of her business. Johnny tells Allie to go live her own life with Tripp and stay out of his. Johnny tells Allie again to go but Chanel decides she will leave and let them sort this out. Johnny tries to stop her but Chanel says it’s getting late anyways and exits. Johnny asks Allie if she’s happy now.

Shawn’s wedding gift to Ciara and Ben is a copy of the book of poetry that Bo gave Hope for her 18th birthday. Ciara tells Ben that her grandpa Shawn gave it to Bo right before he joined the marines. Shawn notes that Hope gave him a copy when he and Belle got married so he felt it was his responsibility to carry on the tradition. Ben says it means so much to him and thanks Shawn. Ciara says the same. Shawn mentions bookmarking a poem that Bo and Hope read to each other at their weddings. Ben jokes that he’s starting to feel pressure to live up to that love story. Shawn calls it an incredible one, much like Ben and Ciara’s. Ciara agrees. Shawn wonders what’s taking Belle so long and says if they have to go, they can. Ben decides they should get going to find a place to stop. Ciara thanks Shawn for the book and suggests maybe they’ll give it to a kid of theirs someday. Shawn tells them to have fun on their honeymoon as Ben kisses Ciara.

Philip tells Belle that she knows the history between he, Brady, and Chloe, so he thought she would be a little more understanding. Belle says those that ignore the past are condemned to repeat it. Philip asks what that has to do with him. Belle reminds him that she told him in high school that jealousy would ruin his life and she’s still trying to get that through his skull. Philip complains about sitting back and doing nothing. Belle brings up tracking down Chloe in North Dakota and paying off the sheriff to arrest Brady. Philip worries that they were going to stay in the same room if he hadn’t showed up. Belle argues that nothing would’ve happened since Chloe was faithful to him, but he couldn’t believe it so he screwed it all up and now he’s doing it all over again. Belle advises Philip to finish his food then go home to sleep. Belle suggests he try trusting Chloe for a change and seeing how that works. Philip decides that Belle got through to him, so he won’t do anything stupid. Belle says she has a pie to deliver to Shawn. Philip thanks her for talking him down and hugs her, calling her a good friend. Belle then exits the Pub.

Brady doesn’t know what Chloe is so afraid of. Brady says even if he wanted to come between Chloe and Philip, he wouldn’t be able to since her relationship is so solid. Chloe tells Brady that she gave them a chance to be together and opened up about her feelings for him, but he couldn’t do that to Kristen. Chloe declares that Brady made his choice and even though she thought Kristen was bad for him and that she could make him happy, she kept her distance and even offered to quit her job to give him space. Chloe cries that now that she’s chosen to be with Philip, Brady won’t do the same thing and she doesn’t think that’s fair. Brady argues that Chloe only made that choice was because Philip said that if she was with him, Kristen would be a threat. Chloe stops him and calls it a rotten, long night. Chloe doesn’t want to argue with him so she suggests just calling it a night as she storms off to the bathroom.

Tripp and Ava walk through the town square. Ava thanks him for walking her home. Tripp doesn’t think Allie is coming back anytime soon so he’s going to head home. Ava is sorry things are a mess and asks him to keep her updated. Tripp thanks her for the dinner and says Rafe doesn’t know what he’s missing. Ava hugs Tripp and says she loves him so much. Ava then walks away. Tripp turns around and runs in to Chanel. Tripp comments that tonight was crazy as he can’t believe her new guy is Allie’s brother. Chanel notes that Allie is definitely not happy about that. Tripp mentions Allie taking off after him to have it out. Chanel informs him that she was there when Allie showed up. Tripp asks how it went. Chanel tells him to talk to Allie about that and says goodnight as she walks away.

Johnny blames Allie for Chanel leaving. Allie remarks that she got out just in time. Johnny asks what that’s supposed to mean. Allie brings up Johnny hooking up with her friend Katie and then dumping her a week later. Allie says he didn’t care what that did to her, but she saw that Katie was a wreck and she was afraid she would hurt herself. Johnny insists he’s not like that anymore. Allie points out he was trying to get Chanel in to bed after their second date, so it’s a good thing that she got there before he could. Johnny asks if she’s jealous. Allie says she’s with Tripp and Chanel is her friend and that’s it. Johnny doesn’t know if he believes that and doesn’t think that Allie does either.

Brady prepares to sleep in the chair. Chloe says he’ll need another blanket but Brady insists he will be fine. Chloe brings up Brady being shot and being in a car accident recently. Brady assures that he’s comfortable and tells her to go to bed.

Philip remains at the Brady Pub on his laptop. Philip stops and declares that Brady is going to try something. Philip then calls to have his plane available and ready to go. Philip says he’s on his way to the airfield, heading to Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Belle goes home to Shawn and says sorry she was late as she ran in to Philip at the Pub. Shawn asks what’s new with him. Belle says she will tell him after he has his pie. Belle asks if she missed anything while she was gone. Shawn informs her that Ben and Ciara stopped by and just left for their honeymoon.

Ben and Ciara prepare to leave, while reading the poem book to each other. They kiss and get on to Ciara’s motorcycle to ride away.

Allie notes that’s weird because that’s what her brother Johnny’s grandfather used to call him. Tripp wonders if it could be a coincidence. Allie realizes Johnny said he met someone too. Chanel and Johnny then arrive together, shocking both Allie and Johnny. Chanel questions them knowing each other. Johnny introduces himself to Tripp and introduces Chanel, saying they are here to meet her BFF and her boyfriend. Allie then reveals that she is Chanel’s best friend and reveals to Chanel that Johnny is her twin brother.

Bonnie introduces Justin to her sister in law, Calista Lockhart. Justin notes that she never told him that she has a sister in law. Calista explains that she is Bonnie’s late husband’s sister. Justin asks if that’s what Bonnie meant that she could never explain to him.

Chanel can’t believe Johnny is Allie’s brother. Allie asked how she didn’t know. Chanel asks about them being twins. Allie calls it complicated. Johnny jokes that they can skip the awkward getting to know you and go straight to drinking.

EJ asks Melinda if they are done. Melinda tells him that she’s going to find out how he managed to stay a member of the state bar during his long convalesence in Italy and a period where he was mentally incompetent. EJ remarks that he just bested her. Melinda argues that she can’t throw her family name around in a court room. Melinda warns EJ that he doesn’t want her as an enemy. EJ laughs off that she was his enemy years ago. Melinda warns that she won’t stop until she finds something to use against he and Xander.

Xander asks Gwen where else she would rather be. Gwen says nowhere but that this is completely mental. Gwen says she came over yesterday to thank him for covering for her with Jack, but she’s still here. Xander encourages that she knows she wants to. Gwen responds that she knows she’s going to regret this but removes her robe and gets back in to bed with Xander as they start kissing.

Jack asks Chad if he can’t ask Abigail what her plans are. Chad says he’s trying but she always changes the subject. Chad says he and the kids miss her, but she won’t even make a plan for him to take the kids to see her. Chad asks Jack if Abigail has said anything to him about them. Jack says no and that he’s getting a version of the same treatment. Jack remembers how hurt she was by the way he talked to her when Gwen had her miscarriage. Chad feels it just seems like Abigail doesn’t want to see him and it makes him really scared that she may never come home. Chad asks what if his marriage is over.

Bonnie tells Justin that Calista just friended her on social media after all this time and claims that she just got carried away and invited her to the wedding. Bonnie knows they wanted to keep it small and apologizes for asking someone he doesn’t know without letting him know first. Justin says it’s okay as it is her wedding as much as his. Justin says Calista should be there if she’s important to Bonnie. Calista remarks that she is so important to her.

Chanel questions Allie and Johnny being twins but looking nothing alike. Allie reminds that they have different dads. Johnny says he gets his good looks from his dad’s side but assures that’s the only thing he gets. Chanel asks why she would worry. Johnny asks how much she has heard about the DiMeras.

EJ tells Melinda that she won’t find anything on him as he’s been recovering from serious injuries for years. Melinda responds that the rest of his family has been busy. Melinda brings up that EJ’s sister Kristen pushed her daughter Haley down the stairs and killed her. EJ admits he did not know that. Melinda adds that Kristen also broke out of prison, harmed people, and is now on the run. Melinda warns that if Kristen reaches out to EJ, she will find out. Melinda brings up Johnny just showing up in Salem. EJ warns her to leave his son out of this. Melinda asks if he is grooming Johnny to take over the family business. EJ says goodbye to Melinda. Melinda warns him to rethink that if he really cares about what’s good for Johnny. EJ orders her to get out of his house. Melinda stops and says she also finds it interesting that EJ just appeared to be Xander’s lawyer before he even got his phone call. EJ responds that Xander was his caretaker for years, so he owed him one. Melinda then exits the mansion. EJ then remarks that Xander owes him more.

Gwen and Xander lay in bed together after having sex. Xander suggests ordering steak and champagne but Gwen worries that it’s getting expensive and reminds him of his lawyer. Xander then gets a call from EJ, who informs him that he’s officially off the hook. Xander is surprised it’s already done. EJ says he told him that he’d get it done. EJ tells Xander to get to the police station to collect his personal belongings and he will then come by to collect what Xander owes him.

Chad tells Jack that he’s told Abigail that he sees it all clearly now and thought they were in a good place and she said she wanted to visit her mom and work through all these things. Chad thought it would be a good idea but he didn’t think she would be gone this long. Jack asks if there’s anything he can do. Chad responds that there actually is. Chad asks Jack to talk to Jennifer because it feels like Abigail is using Laura’s estate as an excuse to stay away from him. Chad adds that even if Abigail doesn’t want to be around him, the kids miss their mom. Jack promises to talk to Abigail and Jennifer, so Chad thanks him. Jack knows he’s been missing with the kids too, so he plans to remedy that. Chad mentions that he was going to bring them over but didn’t want to risk them running in to Gwen or Xander. Jack informs him that he’s thrown Xander out after the drug dealing. Jack then declares that Xander is out of Gwen’s life for good.

Xander apologizes to Gwen to have to leave her. Gwen says it’s alright and Jack will be wondering where she is anyways. Xander will be glad to be past his legal troubles, even if it will cost him a fortune. Gwen wishes he didn’t have to take the fall for her and that she was honest with Chad about losing her baby before the fall so that Dr. Snyder wouldn’t have had anything over her. Gwen worries now about Jack finding out the truth. Xander assures that he won’t. Gwen doesn’t know how to thank him. Xander responds that she already did. Gwen admits she’s going to miss him because Jack would hate if he knew they were seeing each other and it wouldn’t make sense to him, so he’d be determined to get to the bottom of it and find out the truth. Xander tells her that he gets it, but asks if they could keep it a secret. Gwen questions another secret in this town. Gwen tells Xander that she’s afraid this is going to have to be goodbye. Xander says he understands but hopes he’ll see her around sometime. Gwen then exits Xander’s room.

Chanel states that Theo filled her in some on the DiMeras. Johnny questions how she knows Theo. Chanel explains that they dated for awhile in South Africa, which surprises Johnny. Allie realizes Johnny was the guy that Chanel was talking about sending her shirtless selfies. Johnny then comments on competition and brings up hearing that the last person Chanel kissed before him, was Allie.

Justin informs Bonnie and Calista that Steve has agreed to be his best man. Bonnie says that’s great. Justin thought she’d be a little happier under the circumstances. Bonnie says she’s thrilled. Calista questions the circumstances so Bonnie explains that Steve is the brother of Justin’s first wife. Bonnie apologizes again for not giving him a heads up about Calista coming to the wedding, as she never thought she would see her again. Calista suggests celebrating the wedding with a toast, so Justin goes to get a bottle of champagne. Calista remarks that Justin isn’t just handsome, but also filthy rich. Bonnie assures that’s not why she loves him. Calista asks about the first wife. Bonnie says she died in an accident and then she and Justin fell in love way after. Calista calls it a shame that Bonnie won’t be marrying Justin or anyone else, until she pays her back the money she owes her. Bonnie argues that she doesn’t know the whole story. Calista insists that she owes her a million dollars. Bonnie says she doesn’t have it. Calista warns that she better come through or she will show Justin the gun with Bonnie’s fingerprints all over it and tell him all about how Bonnie killed her husband. Calista asks what Justin will do when he hears what Bonnie did to her beloved Harrison. Bonnie is then startled by Justin popping the champagne cork and starts to panic that she got shot. Justin comes back in and Bonnie claims she was just joking. Justin asks about Bonnie being jumpy. Bonnie calls it wedding jitters but Calista says when Bonnie married her brother, she was calm. Bonnie says Calista is just being funny. Calista comments on the expensie champagne and the mansion. Justin pours them glasses of champagne. Calista drinks her whole glass. Justin reminds her about the toast. Calista claims she forgot, so Justin pours her another drink. Calista toasts to Justin and Bonnie, wishing them blessings in their new life together.

Allie questions Chanel telling Johnny that they kissed after knowing him for like three days. Chanel explains that she didn’t, but her mom opened her mouth while they were having drinks. Chanel adds that she doesn’t care who knows about them. Allie points out that there is no them. Chanel argues that she doesn’t go around talking about her past relationships. Johnny remarks that it sounds like this relationship is totally in the past. Tripp questions what the hell that’s supposed to mean.

EJ and Melinda join Xander in the interrogation room. EJ tells Xander that this will be expunged from his records. Xander asks for his belongings, noting he had everything with him when Shawn arrested him. Melinda brings up the briefcase of a million dollars, minus his bail money. EJ says the charges have been dropped so it’s not his concern. Melinda wonders if Xander committed a crime to obtain that money. Melinda declares that until she finds out where the money came from, it will not leave the evidence room.

Johnny tells Tripp to calm down and he’s just saying that Allie and Chanel are still best friends and business partners, so it’s not like they are not going to see each other anymore. Johnny comments that he has a gay older brother and now a bisexual sister. Allie argues that she’s not and threatens to leave if he keeps acting like this. Chanel blames her mother. Johnny says he’s not judging anybody and he thought Chanel hooking up with a woman was kind of hot, until he found out it was his sister. Tripp decides they’re out of here. Johnny tries to apologize but Allie asks when he became EJ. Allie and Tripp then walk out of the bar.

Justin asks about Bonnie and Calista not being in touch. Calista brings up losing touch after Bonnie killed her brother. Justin asks what made her decide to reconnect. Calista says they both have dead husbands that were murdered so it’s a common bond. Justin says he’s sorry. Calista adds that the person who killed her husband got away with it, so hopefully that person will be brought to justice.

EJ argues that Melinda has no right to confiscate Xander’s money. Melinda asks if EJ is worried about his payment. EJ informs her that the money was paid to Xander by Sami and it’s his money. EJ adds that he didn’t know about the transaction until after and suggests she contact Sami for details, but she’s left town. EJ argues that Xander hasn’t broken any laws, so if she tries to file charges, he’ll work his magic again and it will be a waste of her time. Melinda then agrees to turn over the money, but warns them about civil suits from the families of drug overdose victims. Melinda then exits the interrogation room. EJ tells Xander that they know every dollar in that briefcase is his.

Chad tells Jack that it was good to see him, but he’s going to get out before he runs in to Gwen. Jack says he hasn’t seen her last night and was starting to worry. Gwen then comes home, so Chad says he wasn’t quick enough. Gwen greets Chad, while Jack questions where on earth she has been.

Calista asks about dinner, the dress code for the wedding, and her room in the mansion. Calista assumed Bonnie would put her up in the mansion. Bonnie notes that the house is pretty crowded already and offers her a room at the Salem Inn. Calista remarks that she wouldn’t want to be any trouble. Calista tells Justin that it was lovely meeting him and she hopes to see them at the wedding. Bonnie then walks Calista out. Calista warns Bonnie to come up with the money or she will be staying single.

Johnny and Chanel go back to the DiMera Mansion. Johnny says they didn’t get to have dinner, so he can ask the cook to make some, but Chanel says she’s not that hungry. Johnny notes her not saying much and asks if that has to do with the scene Allie made. Chanel can’t believe Allie and Johnny are brother and sister. Johnny says the last couple of days have been fun, but her having a thing for Allie makes things complicated. Chanel asks if it does for him or for her.

Tripp brings Allie home and notes that she was pretty quiet on the way over, so he asks if she’s upset that Chanel is seeing her brother. Allie calls it weird and admits she really hopes it doesn’t last.

Gwen claims to Jack that she went to bed early and then went to an early meeting with an employment counselor and spent the rest of the day walking. Jack notes that she didn’t say anything about an employment counselor. Gwen says she can’t expect him to keep her forever. Chad asks what the counselor said. Gwen claims they said she would need a reference from her last job but she knows that would be a problem, which Chad confirms. Gwen decides to go make some tea and exits the room. Chad tells Jack that he’s sorry but he can’t tell an employer that Gwen was a good nanny with how things ended. Jack gets it and promises to talk to Jennifer in hopes that she can get through to Abigail. Jack assures Chad that Abigail loves him and asks him not to give up on their marriage. Chad responds that he doesn’t intend to.

EJ and Xander walk back through the town square. EJ says it was a pleasure doing business with him and he’ll take the money now. Xander says not until EJ gets him his old job back at Basic Black. EJ says that Brady is on a business trip to New York while Nicole has been out sick all week, so when they are back in the office, he will follow up. Xander argues that EJ is the top man at DiMera Enterprises, so he could snap his fingers and make this happen. EJ says he’s done everything he said so far. EJ argues that the money belongs to him. Xander argues that Sami paid him willingly and that he did EJ a favor, since exposing Nicole got the ball rolling or else Sami could still be cheating on him, so he should be thanking him. EJ tells Xander to shut up and give him the briefcase now.

Bonnie heads back inside where Justin comments that Calista is quite the character. Justin is surprised Bonnie never mentioned her before. Bonnie says she was out of sight, out of mind, and then appeared out of the blue, so she felt she had to invite her to the wedding. Justin relates to similar experience with family members being on the spot. Bonnie thanks him for understanding. Bonnie then claims to Justin that the caterer wants the full payment before the wedding, so she thought he could just write a blank check and she would fill in the amount later. Justin tells her there’s no need, as it’s all taken care of. Justin tells her not to worry as all she has to do is show up looking beautiful and then they can start their new lives together. Bonnie cries that she wants that life so much. Justin adds that it’s great that Calista is there to have someone from Bonnie’s side of the family since her kids can’t make it.

Johnny doesn’t care if Chanel kissed Allie as long as she is sure that she’s over her. Chanel assures that she is. Johnny hopes so because he doesn’t want to be in a rivalry with his sister over her. Chanel states that Allie is with Tripp now and Allie’s happy, while she is too. Johnny says he is happy too then as they kiss.

Tripp asks Allie what bothers her about Johnny and Chanel dating. Allie talks about Johnny being her best friend growing up and now she feels she doesn’t even know him. Allie says Johnny was a total jerk tonight and worries about him being a jerk to Chanel. Tripp encourages that Chanel can take care of herself. Allie hopes they break it off before it gets serious. Tripp then reveals that Chanel told him that she and Johnny almost slept together last night.

Jack finishes a call. Gwen comes in and asks what’s wrong. Jack informs her that he just got some news that upset him. Jack reveals that Xander hired EJ to represent him and EJ found a way to get his case thrown out, so Xander is going to walk and get away with what he did to Gwen. Gwen tells Jack that it’s okay. Jack warns that Xander better stay away from Gwen.

Xander tells EJ that he can challenge him to a duel or he can make good on the rest of their agreement while he holds onto the money. Xander adds that when he gets his job back at Basic Black, he’ll hand over the million dollars. EJ warns him about trying anything. Xander gives EJ his room number at the Salem Inn and they walk their separate ways. Calista comes around the corner in the town square and gets a call from Bonnie. Calista asks if she got the money. Bonnie admits she tried to con Justin in to writing a blank check but her heart wasn’t in it and she failed which upsets Calista. Bonnie suggests that maybe after the wedding, Justin will open her up a bank account. Calista complains that after Bonnie marries Justin, she’ll never see her money. Calista informs Bonnie that she has a better idea, as she knows exactly where she can get a million dollars.

Recap written by Christine

At the penthouse, Amanda smiled as Devon told her about helping deliver a perfect baby boy. He noted that he’d already told her this twice. She planned to keep asking him to tell her the story though, because she thought he was a hero. She alluded to him being a father, but he told her not to say that. He said Abby was the mother, and Chance was the only father. Amanda said the baby was Abby and Chance’s, but Devon had a biological connection, and it was clear that he felt something for the baby. Devon admitted he did feel an amazing connection that he couldn’t put into words. Amanda thought Devon was thinking about the baby right now. He said he didn’t stop thinking of him. He’d never felt this way before. He was just happy the nightmare was over, that Mariah was safe and Abby had her child. Amanda said it was thanks to Devon. He didn’t think he deserved all the credit. She said he could be humble, but she was going to be proud of him. She had to get going. He planned to go to the hospital and check on everyone, and she said to kiss the baby for her.

Mariah had a nightmare in the hospital, while Abby was at her side. Mariah woke up screaming Bowie, and she demanded to know where he was. Abby assured Mariah that the baby was safe in the nursery, and she said Mariah could go see him if she wanted. Mariah talked about her ordeal in solitary confinement. She’d been all alone, except for Bowie. Abby reacted when she heard the name Bowie. Mariah didn’t understand why this happened. Abby blamed herself for not sensing something was wrong with Ben. She said she was worried about Mariah and she was lost without Chance, then Ben came along saying all the right things. Abby said Ben’s life had hit a low point, and he thought this was a way to get things back on track and make Abby feel grateful to him. Mariah was adamant that Stitch was the only one to blame – he’d hurt her, Abby, Tessa, Devon, Sharon and everyone who loved the baby.

Abby let the nurses know that Mariah was awake. She added that everyone, including Nina and Jill, knew the baby was born, and they were all excited to see him and Mariah. Mariah wanted to see everyone too, after being alone for so long, but maybe not all at once. Mariah was hungry, and Abby said that the nurses were bringing a meal. Mariah was happy to have something new to eat after all those protein bars. Abby told Mariah how Ben’s story about protein bars made Devon suspicious, which was the key to unraveling the story and Mariah’s rescue. Mariah asked if everyone was worried when she first disappeared. Abby explained that Ben used Mariah’s phone to craft a cover story about a business trip and needing time alone. Mariah protested that she’d never leave town without saying goodbye to Tessa. Abby knew that, but they were all trying to be considerate of Mariah’s feelings. Abby added that Tessa was the first one who sensed something was off.

Mariah would never forget Abby bursting through the door to rescue her. She thought she’d have to deliver Bowie alone. “I’m sorry, I just, um, I have to ask. Bowie?,” Abby said. Mariah said she needed something to call the baby – it was just the two of them, and they had many deep conversations, and after a while, Little Man and Kiddo didn’t fit. She swore she wasn’t trying to name him. Abby understood that, and she said she didn’t think Mariah tried to name him. Mariah said she talked to the baby about being strong and brave and the one most important truth – that his mom already loved him so much.

Abby and Mariah went to see the baby, and when they got back Sharon and Rey were waiting from them. Ben went to Iowa, took Max from the facility without checking him out, then he stole one of the doctor’s ID’s and fled to parts unknown. The facility didn’t notice Max was missing until morning, so there was no telling how much of a head start Ben had. Mariah was scared Stitch would come back to Genoa City. Rey said there was an APB out for him, and his description had been sent to clinics and hospitals throughout the mid west. If they showed up anywhere for treatment, Ben would be arrested. Mariah was worried Ben would get away with it, and Rey assured her that the GCPD wasn’t giving up. Rey was going to keep investigating. Abby felt bad that Ben had gone down this path, and she said things were only going to get worse for him and Max. Mariah asked why Abby cared what happened to Stitch. Abby was angry, but she was also a little sad. Mariah wasn’t sad at all. She wanted Ben behind bars where he belonged.

When Mariah was alone, Tessa came by. Mariah confided about the nightmares, and Tessa comforted and reassured her. Abby walked in with the form for the birth certificate. She stayed up all night, and she came up with a name. Dominic Phillip Newman Abbott Chancellor. Dominic’s name had a “D” for Devon and an “M” for Mariah. Phillip, of course, for his father, Phillip Chancellor IV. An exhausted Abby decided to finish the rest of the form at home, and she left. Tessa decided to ask the nurse if she could take Mariah outside so she could see the sky after being inside for so long. Mariah said Tessa always knew what she needed. Mariah added that Tessa and Bowie kept her sane in there. Tessa questioned “Bowie.” Mariah said it was the name she called the baby, but Abby just gave him like seven names. They chuckled and agreed that the name was so Abby. Mariah turned somber and said she’d be the only one who knew the baby as Bowie. Tessa said that Mariah could tell the baby that some day. Mariah burst into tears. She’d made the baby so many promises, and he was her reason for living. She admitted she didn’t know how to let go. Tessa hugged Mariah. Tessa thought it was natural for Mariah to be feeling some residual anxiety, but she and Dominic were safe, and he’d have a great life because of Mariah. She said Abby and Chance would make sure of that. Tessa added that Mariah would be part of his life. Mariah reiterated that Tessa always knew what she needed. Mariah smiled, but it faded when Tessa looked away.

Abby invited Devon over to her place, and she told him the baby’s name and the significance of it. He liked the name Dominic, in general, and he felt honored by the tribute. He said Dominic would be home where he belonged soon, and Abby would start this journey that would last the rest of her life. They hugged.

Victor and Nick were at Society digesting the news that Stitch was the kidnapper. They felt for Mariah and Abby. Victor was glad that Abby could put this behind her and raise her boy. Victor stepped away to take a call. Billy arrived, and he and Nick congratulated each other on their new Newman-Abbott nephew. Billy was just glad Mariah and the baby were okay. “Stitch better hope I never get my hands on him,” Nick said. Billy thought it was good Nick was protective of Abby, but right now, it was his other sister who needed help. Nick thought Billy should stay out of Ashland and Victoria’s personal life. Billy implied he had a good reason to get involved. He explained that Ashland’s mentor, an older woman, suddenly died, and Ashland bought her TV stations. Ashland didn’t come from money, and he was barely twenty years old at the time, but he somehow had the money to buy two major entities. Billy noticed that Nick didn’t seem surprised, and he asked if Nick and Victor ran a background check on Ashland already. Nick said he needed good reason to get involved in Victoria’s personal life, and he said to let him know if one was found. “Now get out of my dad’s chair,” Nick said, so Billy left.

Victor returned to the table. His team was still trying to find out how Ashland was able to buy the TV stations. Nick repeated what Nikki said – even if something sketchy happened in the past, that didn’t necessarily say anything about what Ashland was like now. Victor still wanted to investigate. Victoria might be angry, but it’d be worth it if they found something serious. Nick said that Victoria might not ever have to know Victor did any digging. There was someone else on the exact same trail about the TV stations. Victor realized it was Billy. Victor asked if Nick told Billy that the Newmans were investigating. While Nick didn’t share that, Billy had jumped to that conclusion. Victor was glad Nick didn’t say anything. He asked Nick to keep his distance from Billy and keep anything uncovered in this investigation in the family. Nick said of course. Victor didn’t want an outsider picking up information and using it against them. Nick didn’t think Billy was doing this for leverage. Victor didn’t care about Billy’s motives. He stated that they’d circle the wagons and protect themselves – the Newman creed. Nick nodded.

Victoria went to ChancComm, and Lily said Billy wasn’t there. Victoria wanted to talk to Lily. She said some of Ashland’s associates were getting calls from reporters with probing questions about the beginning of Ashland’s career. Victoria didn’t think it was hard to figure out where those reporters worked. Lily didn’t think it should be surprising that there were news outlets like ChancComm that were interested in Ashland’s history. Victoria understood Ashland was a public figure, even if there was no story in how his career started. Victoria was surprised that a strong independent woman like Lily was standing by and watching Billy use the company for his own agenda. Lily said she and Billy ran the company as a partnership, just like they did their personal lives. She said she didn’t let him impose his personal agenda on business agendas, but if there was news, they went after it. Victoria didn’t think there was a story here. She understood writing stories on his divorce, and his illness, now that he’d made it public, but now he had to deal with every disgruntled business associate from the last twenty years. She asked why Lily would drag a sick and dying man through the rug. Victoria thought she understood Billy’s motive. She was sure he’d said it was about the kids, but that wasn’t true, in her opinion. “Clearly it’s about me, and we both know that,” Victoria said. Lily didn’t think Victoria’s argument had merit. She wondered if Victoria was making this personal to try and get under Lily’s skin. Victoria felt that if Lily was rationalizing this, it meant Lily had changed, and not necessarily for the better. Elena showed up for her meeting, so Victoria left.

Lily said Nate gave up his job at AskMDNow after his promotion. Elena didn’t know that, but she realized there was a lot on his plate. Lily said Nate suggested Elena as a replacement. Lily thought that Elena’s natural empathy and knowledge made her a great fit. Elena needed a minute to think about it, and Lily understood. After Elena left, Billy showed up. Lily filled Billy in about Elena. Afterward, she stated that his ex came by and called Lily a sellout who let him do whatever he wanted. Billy was sorry. He wished he’d been there to deflect Victoria’s anger. Lily said it was okay. She’d presented a united front and covered her own reservations about Billy investigating Ashland. She still had her doubts about why he was doing this. He started to explain himself again. She interjected that she knew he was concerned about his kids, but she was worried that in his quest to be right about Locke, he might irreparably harm the relationship with the mother of his children.

Ashland was at Crimson Lights. He became unsteady on his feet, and Nate rushed to his aid. Ashland said he was okay, but concerned, Nate wanted to help Ashland get home. Ashland nodded. Once they got there, Ashland said that things weren’t as bad as they looked. Nate said he could tell Ashland was in rough shape earlier. Ashland appreciated Nate’s discretion on this. Nate said of course – Victoria was a friend, and he was always happy to help. He suggested that Ashland might want to speak with another doctor about this, and he offered him a referral. Nate gave Ashland some vitamin supplements for energy that helped people going through chemo.

Ashland assumed the new chief of surgery had more important things to do than tuck him in for a post-chemo nap. Nate said he was off duty, and he’d wanted to get Ashland out of the coffeehouse. He knew Ashland liked to project strength, and he wouldn’t want to be seen in public like that. Ashland was thankful. Nate said that chemo didn’t care about how tough you were, because chemo could be tougher. Ashland was beginning to realize that. Ashland said that when you project invincibility, people begin to see you that way. It was funny how it all faded so fast. Nate said he injured his hand last year, and he still couldn’t operate. His world was wrapped up in being a surgeon, and suddenly he couldn’t perform surgery. He learned to be honest with himself about his limitations and how to ask for help when it was needed. It wasn’t a sign of weakness. Ashland thought Nate sounded like Victoria. Nate said there was nothing to be gained by pretending to have an easy time with chemo, and there was no shame in admitting it sucked. Ashland stated that he was being asked to unlearn decades of behavior. That was a big change. Nate felt that Ashland had to recognize that his life had changed. He said that the doctors might be able to make things a little better if Ashland was honest with them about the side effects. The same for Victoria. Nate understood the instinct to hide things, but he thought Ashland should let Victoria help him. “You were right, Doctor. This sucks,” Ashland said.

Victoria came home after Nate left. She brought Ashland a smoothie. He pretended that he was doing well after his chemo session, and when she assumed that he made it home on his own, he didn’t correct her. As she headed toward the kitchen, he called her back and admitted he was lying. He explained that the treatment was brutal, and he’d been afraid he was going to collapse. She was sorry, and she wished she’d gone to his appointment with him. He said Dr. Hastings brought him home. He admitted that he might not be able to handle this.

Nate and Elena met at Crimson Lights. He apologized for being late, explaining that he was held up a bit. She revealed that she knew he left AskMDNow and recommended her for the job. Smiling, she said she couldn’t believe he didn’t tell her. He said he didn’t want to ruin the surprise of her getting called in and offered a job on the spot. She hadn’t accepted the job yet. She wasn’t sure she was right for it. He said she’d be a natural, and even better at it than he was. He suggested they role play as doctor and patient. He said he had a pain in his heart that disappeared when he saw her. She diagnosed him as being a charmer.

Recap written by Christine

Abby, Mariah and Devon were all apprehensive when the hospital staff took the baby. Nate explained that he was going to the nursery for a bath and tests, but so far, he seemed healthy. Mariah asked if there was anything she needed to do. Nate urged Mariah to rest. They were all grateful to Nate, but he said the three of them did all the hard work, and he congratulated them and left. Mariah confided how it felt to be snatched off the street by a stranger. She’d been afraid that they would kill her after Bowie was born. Abby seemed caught off guard by the name Bowie. Abby said it sounded awful. Mariah had learned it was Ben all along, and she didn’t understand why he’d do it. Abby explained that Ben had hoped to rescue Mariah and be Abby’s hero.

Mariah stated that Ben, the doctor, listened to her scream. She’d been terrified she’d die, but she was trying not to upset the child she was carrying. She was terrified she’d have to bring Bowie into the world all by herself. She didn’t want Ben to get away with this. Devon said the police would find Ben. Elena came in and asked Devon and Abby to leave, because Mariah could only have two visitors at a time, and there were two more people anxiously waiting to see her. They complied, and Tess rushed in and hugged Mariah tight. Sharon came in too. Sharon called Mariah her brave girl for getting herself and the baby through this. Sharon stepped out to give Tessa and Mariah some time. Tessa told Mariah she loved her and they hugged. They talked about how they felt each other when Mariah was being held captive. “I’m never gonna let you go again,” Tessa said.

Sharon returned and Mariah was sleeping. Tessa wished she could make all Mariah’s suffering go away. Sharon said they’d do all they could to support her. Tessa had to run home and get some stuff for Mariah, and she asked Sharon to sit with her.

Rey and Victor were in the hospital corridor. Rey finished a call, then he told Victor that there was no sign of Ben.

Nate sat with Devon in the waiting room. Devon was grateful Nate had been there to walk them through the baby’s birth. It was really something to see a new life coming into the world. It was a miracle. He felt an instant connection when he held the baby. It made him think about his time with Hilary. He didn’t know if this made sense. Nate said that baby was carrying a part of Devon, and he helped bring him into the world. It made perfect sense.

Abby was surprised to see Victor was still in the hospital. He gave her a Fenmore’s bag. There was a teddy bear in it. He said it reminded him of one Abby used to have when she was a toddler. Abby remembered him – it was named Oodles. She thanked Victor for bringing in his investigators. He said he’d do anything for her. She knew the feeling because she had a baby of her own. He knew she’d have to take care of Mariah and the baby, but he looked forward to his first visit. They said they loved each other. He wanted to see the baby soon, though.

After Victor left, Devon joined Abby. They marveled at the experience they shared. He stated that she wanted a family, and they all joined together to make that perfect little boy. He was grateful things didn’t turn out worse. She was thinking the same thing. Abby said that Devon didn’t just create the baby, he saved the baby’s life, because he trusted his instincts about Ben. Abby said she was too bowled over by Ben’s kindness to see what was happening until it was too late. He didn’t think she should blame herself. No one could’ve predicted Ben would do something like this. He noted that she was the one who came through and found Mariah. He felt that the three of them kept the baby safe.

In the waiting room, Tessa thanked Devon and Abby for bringing Mariah home to her. Devon said they didn’t need thanks. They loved Mariah. Tessa wanted to go to the chapel to say thank you for answering her prayers. After Tessa left, Abby mentioned that she wanted to see Mariah. Devon didn’t mind her taking the second visitor spot. He was going to call Lily and let her know what happened. He wished Neil was here to see the baby. She had no doubt that Neil was with them and he was smiling on their perfect little boy.

Abby sat with the sleeping Mariah. Sharon was out of the room. Abby was heartbroken that she had no way of letting Chance know he was a dad, like he’d always wanted to be.

Elena and Nate were at Crimson Lights. He couldn’t get over the fact that he’d coached his cousin through childbirth. He thought it had a profound experience on Devon, and he believed it hit Devon in a way he didn’t expect. Elena assumed that was because of the baby he lost with Hilary. He said Devon had a deep meaningful bond with the baby. She was happy for Devon. They agreed that the baby was lucky to have Devon in his life. He was impressed Mariah, Devon and Abby kept their heads together. Elena was proud of Nate.

Elena went back to work, and she took Baby Newman to Abby for a feeding. Mariah was planning to pump, but since she was sleeping, Elena brought a bottle of formula. Abby took her child and marveled that he was the most amazing baby in the world. Devon walked up and overheard Abby bonding with the baby. She said she’d waited her entire life for him. Mariah woke up when Abby said “Mommy’s here.” Mariah looked upset.

At Society, Sally and Chloe video chatted Chelsea. It was Sally and Chelsea’s first time meeting. Sally stated that she’d followed Chelsea’s work for years, and she proved this point by sharing her thoughts on every clothing line Chelsea once worked on. Sally was honored to be working with Chelsea. “And I would consider it a miracle if you came up for air,” Chelsea replied, commenting on the length of Sally’s monologue. Chloe was shocked when Chelsea said she wasn’t sure she was taking the position. Chloe protested that she accepted Adam’s job offer to work with Chelsea. Chelsea appreciated Chloe’s hard wok on the platform, but she couldn’t commit yet.

Chelsea called Adam, who was at work. They chatted about Anita, who was on the mend, and Connor, who was home from camp and looking forward to school starting. She thanked him for maintaining structure for Connor while she found her footing. Adam wanted Connor and Chelsea to be in each other’s lives. She thought he sounded like he meant that. The other reason Chelsea called was to talk about Sally. He asked what she thought of the new hire. Chelsea heard about Sally’s track record with jobs. She understood that Chloe saw something in her and Chelsea could relate to needing a chance. However, she talked to Sally for less than a minute and she could already see Sally was a master manipulator with a lack of scruples. She knew he gave Chloe free reign, but Sally deserved a second look. He said not to worry because he was keeping an eye on everything.

Nick met Phyllis at The Grand Phoenix. She was sorry she missed his lunch invitation, but she’d been tied up. Nick said Sally told him Phyllis was with Jack. Phyllis complained about Sally antagonizing her. Nick knew Sally was trying to get back at Phyllis for uncovering her scheme. Nick wanted to forget about Sally for a moment. He asked if Phyllis would be tempted to get back together with Jack if Nick wasn’t in the picture. She didn’t want to answer his weird hypothetical. He said he was just trying to have an honest conversation. She said Nick was in the picture, and she loved him. She didn’t know where this was coming from. She thought it’d be like asking if he’d be with Sharon if Phyllis weren’t in the picture. He was just curious, and he asked her to humor him, so she said Jack was just a friend. She asked if he was threatened by Jack, and he said of course not. He was confident in their relationship. She was glad, because she was a one man woman, and Nick was the man for her.

Nick didn’t mean to make Phyllis uncomfortable. Phyllis thought about how difficult it must be for Victoria to be in love with someone who didn’t have a lot of time while dealing with interfering relatives. Nick wished he could trust Victoria’s instincts, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that Ashland wasn’t trustworthy. Phyllis thought it was beautiful for Nick to worry about his sister, and she couldn’t judge him for running interference. Victor called Nick to let him know he was an uncle again. Nick asked about Mariah, and Victor said she was fine. Nick wanted to visit, but Victor asked him to hold off because everyone needed their rest.

Phyllis ran into Sally at Society. “You stay away from my man,” Phyllis warned. Sally called Phyllis insecure. She couldn’t remember the last time she saw Nick. She then remembered that she saw him planning a romantic surprise, but Phyllis had been too busy fawning over Jack. Phyllis said she and Jack were in the past. Sally thought it’d be healthier for Sally and Jack to move on, because this seemed inappropriate. Phyllis said it wasn’t a good idea for Sally to try and retaliate against her. “Haven’t you had enough,” Phyllis asked. “I’m still here aren’t I,” Sally replied.

Phyllis called Sally full of herself. Sally thought she had a right to be since she landed on her feet after Phyllis attempted to ruin her life. Phyllis scoffed and called Sally delusional. She was sure that Chloe would cut Sally off when she did something underhanded. Sally said Chloe knew how valuable she was. Sally felt that she had an opportunity to make a name for herself on a fashion platform that was part of a powerhouse media company. She said she and Adam really got each other. Phyllis doubled over laughing. She said karma was going to take Sally out. Sally was sure that Phyllis would be proven wrong. Phyllis told Sally to get out of her life. Phyllis said if Sally even mentioned her name, her stay in this town would come to an abrupt end.

Nick ran into Adam at Crimson Lights and told him about their new nephew. He thought Christian would be excited. Adam asked Nick’s take on Victoria and Locke. Nick said Victoria seemed happy, and that was all he cared about. Adam asked how much they knew about Ashland. Nick had been asking himself the same question. Sally walked in and said hi to the brothers. Nick walked away without acknowledging her. Adam commented on that, and Sally said Nick was still mad about the whole Summer thing. Sally wasn’t worried about that though, because she loved a challenge. Sally said she was inspired by Adam’s advice to focus on making a name for herself instead of Phyllis. He reacted with mock dread, asking what he’d unleashed. She told him to be afraid, very afraid. She promised it was something that would be good for the company. He hoped she’d abandoned seeking revenge on Phyllis. Chloe walked in and said they had too much to achieve to waste time on personal vendettas. Adam agreed, and he said tomorrow was the official public launch of Newman Media, and they had to be ready to hit the ground running. He suggested they come in early tomorrow. He left.

Chloe didn’t agree with Sally telling Adam she wanted to get revenge on Phyllis. Sally said she’d promised Adam that she’d channel her energy into Newman. She wouldn’t blow this rare opportunity. She sensed that Chelsea wasn’t on board with Sally’s involvement. Chloe said that Chelsea took awhile to get used to people. Chloe wasn’t going to let Chelsea back out of this.

Chloe got on video with Chelsea after Sally left. Chelsea had reservations about Sally. She’d heard some things. Chloe said Sally heard some things about them too, but Sally talented, motivated and hungry. Chelsea wasn’t sure. Chloe implored Chelsea to come home. She could only hold the position open for so long, and if Chelsea didn’t take it, they might be forced to move on without her.

Sally showed up at Adam’s office with something to show him. He said he left the fashion decisions up to Chloe, but she suggested that she wanted his opinion anyway. She thought this thing she’d worked on would be perfect for the launch. He looked at her work, and he liked it. He thought she really was talented, and he said they’d definitely use her creation. He wanted to know what she planned to do to make a name for herself. She still wouldn’t say, but she told him to remember the word “Spectacular.” He was determined to get this out of her. He asked her to accompany him to the launch party tomorrow. “We’ll see,” she replied.
