> Lani: [Sighs] [Exhales, whispers] Okay… I was just trying to wound him, wasn’t I? Oh, okay. Why is he dead? Why is he dead?

Chanel: I just heard.

Lani: What? What did you hear?

Chanel: Eli’s awake. Is he okay?

Lani: Yeah.

Chanel: I’m so happy for you.

Lani: It’s, um… yeah, it’s wonderful. It’s the best thing ever.

Chanel: I also heard about tr is it true? Did mama really shoot him dead?

Kayla: You know, it’s–it’s just all the things are going around in this town. Now I’m just trying to get my head around the idea that lani’s birth father shot her husband and her mother shot her birthfather. I mean, it’s just–

Steve: Well, paulina confessed to killing tr coates.

Kayla: Well, you sound like you don’t think that’s what really happened.

Steve: Yeah. She seems more like a woman who uses words, not bullets. And you know, there’s something I didn’t tell you about the weapon they found at the scene.

Kayla: What’s that?

Steve: I don’t know how paulina could have gotten her hands on what looked like a police-issued weapon.

Shawn: Okay, I know I don’t have to tell you to keep me posted but I’m doing it anyway. All right, thanks.

Ben: Anything?

Shawn: No sign of allie or the car she was driving.

Ben: Then your guys damn well better be fanning off from the dimera crypt. Tony and anna, they found this pacifier there hours ago. Allie was in there with my son, and god only knows where she is now.

Ciara: [Gasps] Oh…oh, my little baby bo. So wish you were inside of me so I could keep you safe. Where are you right now? What is happening to you right now?

Demon allie: It’s friday the 13th, my child. What a fitting day to fulfill my plans for you.

[Baby cries] Oh, no, don’t cry, little one. It will all be over soon.

Susan: I just love this picture of you and your sister. Oh, when you guys were little kids, you used to be the bestest of friends.

Johnny: Yeah. Yeah, I know.

Susan: I wa–I want you to think back to that time. And I want you to try to find that connection again. Mmm? You know, think about what’s happening through your sister’s eyes. Take a look at this–just hold on to that, take a look. I want you to try one more time johnny, all right? Just hold my hand, hold my hand and take a deep breath, all right? And I just–I want you to think about your twin sister and how you used to share your mom’s body for nine months and the same crib. You know what? Your mama used to tell me that she used to find you hiding behind the furniture telling each other your secrets. Johnny, johnny honey, we need to find her. We need to find your sister before that devil makes her do something that she’ll never come back from. All right, you know what? We need to close our eyes right now. Just close our eyes. [Unsettling music]

[Soft orchestration]

Johnny: Anything?

Susan: Uh-huh.

Johnny: Grandma, I’m concentrating as hard as I can, but I just–

Susan: Whoa. Wait, wait. I feel something. I feel something. Do you?

Johnny: I don’t know. Maybe it’s just– aah!

Susan: Oh!

Susan: “Even though I walk through the shadow of the valley of death, I fear no evil. I fear no evil, for you are with me.”

Johnny: Grandma, what–what’s that?

Susan: We almost did it, johnny. We almost reached allie. Oh gah! He broke the connection.

Johnny: He? The devil?

Susan: Hey…I mean, who else would have done this? Huh?

[Eerie music]

Charlie: Well, if it isn’t allie horton. I knew you couldn’t stay away forever.

Demon allie: I am not allie horton. I’m just taking control of her body.

Charlie: Mmm. Pretty good choice, in my opinion.

Demon allie: I did not summon you from eternal damnation to talk about your time on earth. You’ve been chosen by me.

Charlie: Me? Why?

Demon allie: I did battle in heaven. But god cast me out for an inferior being. I fell from grace into an eternal inferno. You too know what it means to be passed over, first by your mother and then by this woman you call allie. That makes you perfect for my purposes. Now, bow before me and swear your allegiance. I must know that you’re worthy to receive my instruction.

Charlie: What is it you desire of me, master?

Ciara: Hey, dad… it’s me. I, uh, I know you’re in heaven right now. But I also know you’re not the kind of guy to just sit back and do nothing when all hell breaks loose, so please… oh my god, I need your help right now. Please help me. Please look over your grandson. Please bring my little bo back to me.

[Soft footsteps] You?

Evan: We meet again.

Ben: You have to have some idea where allie is.

Shawn: You know everything that I do, all right? The techs didn’t find anything at the dimera crypt. We interviewed everyone at the dimera house. I mean, we set up roadblocks in a wide perimeter around it. I mean, not even the devil’s gonna be able to travel with a newborn.

Ben: Yeah? Well, he seems to be pretty damn good at getting help whenever he needs it. Plus evan frears is still on the loose.

Evan: I heard your little prayer to daddy bo. I don’t think he’s going to come for you this time.

Ciara: You have five seconds to get out of here or I’m going to start screaming.

Evan: I wouldn’t do that if I were you… or I’ll fix it so that you and daddy can be together forever.

Lani: I can’t speak about ray coates–it’s an open case.

Chanel: Okay, but mama was arrested. You–you can tell me if that’s true.

Lani: Yes, chanel. She was.

Chanel: And I also heard that tr was the one who shot eli. It wasn’t that drug dealer like you said. Is that true? Can you talk about that?

Lani: Yeah. You heard right. After eli woke up, he–he remembered–he remembered everything that happened.

Chanel: And he remembers tr shooting him? I can’t believe it. Mama thought he’d changed, and he’d been so good to her and he was helping her out with jules and carver and everything.

Lani: It makes me sick to think about that man going near my children. My biological father, he took care of one person and that was–that was ray coates. He hadn’t changed one bit. I don’t know, he–he lied to everybody. Everything out of his mouth was a damn lie. And he wasn’t the only one.

Chanel: What? Who else was lying?

Kayla: So you’re saying you think paulina’s lying about who killed coates? It could have been a policeman?

Steve: I don’t know.

Tripp: Hey.

Kayla: Hey.

Steve: Hey buddy.

Kayla: You just missed dinner–I can make you a plate.

Tripp: No, no, I’m good. I fixed myself a sandwich while I was staying with henry.

Kayla: Come on. A sandwich is not enough for you.

Steve: She’s right. You’ve been working your shifts at the hospital and you’re babysitting little henry over at nicole’s–come on.

Tripp: I’m good, good. Is there any news on ben and ciara’s baby?

Steve: I’d like to say that there’s been some progress, but no.

Shawn: That baby is my nephew–I’m not gonna rest until we get him back. I’m gonna call rafe–I’m gonna find out what he knows.

Ben: I pray there’s something, because I need to give ciara some good news when she wakes up. This is killing her.

Shawn: I know.

Evan: It’s amazing how sharp they keep these things.

Ciara: You were helping allie. Where’s my baby?

Evan: I know what it’s like not to know where your son is or if he’ll be all right. I’ve been living that way for years now because of you.

Ciara: That was because of you. You killed your baby’s mother, and you let ben take the fall for it.

Evan: And you rode to his rescue. Now you and a serial killer are living the dream while I rot away in a cell.

Ciara: You see, the difference is ben has changed, and you have not.

Evan: Your kid is better off where he is.

Ciara: With the devil? Hmm?

Evan: You think he’ll have a storybook childhood with ben weston for a father?

Ciara: Shut up and tell me where my baby is.

Evan: You don’t need to worry about your baby boy. You’re the one lying here helpless as a newborn.

Ciara: Ha. Helpless? Listen, I just gave birth. I didn’t have open heart surgery. And I wouldn’t be so sure about that if I were you. You and your little pal the devil tried to convince me that ben was dead. And I knew better, and I was right. How many times have you tried to kill us…and failed?

Evan: God was on your side in the past. I have my own backup now. The devil’s on my team, so I say you and i are pretty evenly matched.

Ciara: Aah!

Evan: I forgot, the necktie killer’s wife likes it rough.

Ciara: [Gagging]

Susan: Oh, dr. Marlena evans, you are a sight for sore eyes!

Marlena: I thought you might have heard something about allie and the baby.

Susan: Yeah, we got a message all right. But it was from beelzebub himself.

Marlena: What are you talking about?

Johnny: Grandma susan and i were looking at this picture of allie and me trying to make some kind of connection.

Susan: Right. Yeah. And then it got knocked plum out of our hands. It was like it was struck by lightning.

Johnny: Or we just dropped it.

Susan: That is not what happened, johnny, and you know it. This is–this is the dark one. This is the dark one, and he is saying, “this is war.” Know what? The almighty god, he sent–he sent us a weapon, johnny, sent us a weapon. So who cares? Who cares if satan cracked some glass? I mean, he can’t walk this earth as himself, I mean he needs a host body. And we–we belong here. We belong here because we are human beings and you know what? You…there’s no human being I’d rather have on my side than you, dr. Marlena evans. So get over here, johnny, come on, come on. No, get over here, all right. We’re go gonna drum up. We’re going to close our eyes and we are going to drum up all the love, all the love for alice caroline horton so that we can save her soul.

Johnny: We already tried this!

Marlena: And we’ll try it again. Because now there’s one more person here that really loves allie too.

Susan: All right.

[Baby crying]

Demon allie: I’ve grown weary of the external battles that accompany a possession– fighting off exorcists, the host’s loved ones, not to mention the internal struggles of the individual’s tortured soul. I’ve done that dance for millennia. And now it’s time to rest. To that end, this innocent newborn will be my vessel for his entire lifetime. I snatched him straight from his mother’s womb. He knows no other touch but mine. He doesn’t have the will or the bonds of love to restrain me. I will take up residence in this little one. And when he is a grown man, I shall make hell on earth through him.

Charlie: What can I do to assist you, master?

Demon allie: Your chance to be a father to a son was taken from you. I’m giving you the opportunity to raise another child. When the ritual is done, you will take this child and you will keep him as your own.

[Eerie off-key notes]

Susan: There’s three of us now, allie. Yeah, we’ve got your grandmama marlena with us. So for the sake that sweet poor, poor baby and to save your own soul, we’re asking god…to break the devil’s hold on your spirit so that you can hear us.

[Loud thud] Oh! Oh, oh, she’s here! She’s here! Johnny did you–do you see her?

Johnny: No, there’s nothing. It’s like I can feel her, but I can’t see where she is. She– she–is she gone?

Allie: [Echoing] I’m here.

Both: Oh! Get ready for more

Steve: Listen, the entire salem pd is looking for allie. But so far, no trace of her.

Tripp: Henry misses her so much–I mean, he made me read “the runaway bunny” over and over again.

Kayla: Oh, I love that book. The way the mother rabbit is gonna transform herself into a bunch of different forms so that she can go with her baby bunny if he decides to run away.

Tripp: No, allie’s not gonna do that for henry–she doesn’t care what happens to him.

Kayla: Oh, you know that’s not true.

Tripp: You’re right. I shouldn’t be talking about her like that. Not now.

Steve: Okay, so let’s talk about you. How you doing, son?

Susan: Oh.

[Wind howling]

Johnny: Did we all just hear that?

Susan: I did, I did! She’s here with us. Oh, dr marlena evans, talk to her, talk to her.

Marlena: Yes, yes, uh… allie… darling, it’s–it’s marlena. We’re all here, susan’s here and johnny is here. And we can hear you.

Allie: [Echoing] Grandma?

Marlena: Yes, we’re right here, darling.

Allie: I tried to fight him, but he’s–he’s too strong.

Marlena: It’s okay. It’s–we’re gonna help you fight him. We just have to know, darling, where are you?

Allie: He has the baby. Ciara and ben’s baby.

Johnny: Where are you right now?

Allie: At the cemetery. Charlie dale’s grave. Please come, or it will be too late…too late…late…

[Eerie off-key notes]

Demon allie: You are to keep a vigil so that the ritual is not disturbed by mere mortals. If they are to appear, this is the perfect place to bury them where they stand.

Ciara: [Gagging]

Demon allie: I summon all forces of evil to this ungodly place. Let the transference begin. The lows of bipolar depression

Chanel: Who else is lying?

Lani: Did I–did I say that?

Chanel: Yeah, you did.

Lani: I–chanel, I’m running–I’m running on fumes right now. Anything that comes–I can say anything. Anything can come out of my mouth right now.

Chanel: Okay. I’m sorry. I was-I was pumping you for information.

Lani: No, it’s fine. Paulina is your mother too, and you deserve to know. Why did you tell him that you shot tr?

Paulina: You hush. I know what I’m doing.

Chanel: Know what? Lani?

Lani: I was thinking about that–that beth. Beth howard is her name. She–she was the one who swore that tr, he–he didn’t use drugs around her and he didn’t hit her.

Chanel: And she got a part in that movie.

Lani: Yeah. Maybe he gave her that role to keep her quiet or he threatened her. I don’t know. She–she came by eli’s hospital room one night and said that she has something to tell me but–I don’t know. She must have been scared.

Chanel: I wish she would have told you. Then mama wouldn’t be in this mess.

Tripp: I don’t know what there is to say. I didn’t keep it a secret how I felt about allie. I-I loved her. And trusted her. She knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. But she still couldn’t tell me how she felt about chanel. She couldn’t tell me that she cheated on me.

Kayla: I know how much that hurt you when you found out.

Tripp: I’m fine. I’m dealing with it.

Steve: You sure about that? Listen, buddy, I know you’re tough. And I respect that. But from one tough guy to another, you don’t have to keep it inside and pretend that this isn’t bothering you. Not around here you don’T. Just talk to us. Okay? You’re not gonna feel better until you do.

Johnny: I gotta get to the cemetery.

Marlena: Not by yourself you’re not.

Johnny: Look, allie’s always making a big deal about how tough she is. You heard how scared she was just now. She needs help. She’s my sister, and I’m going to get her.

Susan: Johnny, the devil can get you again. Johnny: I don’t care!

Marlena: We care!

Johnny: I’ll be damned if I let him keep allie one more second or hurt that baby. You guys call ben, call the cops, tell them where to go.

Ben: Tell me where my kid is right now or I swear–

Evan: God is not coming to rescue you. Don’t you know that by now? He doesn’t dirty his hands with guys like you and me. We’re both going to hell. You know that. I’m just gonna make sure I send you there first.

Demon allie: By the sins of his father and the virtue of his mother, from this mortal child, I take his uncorrupted soul as my own.

[Baby crying]

Evan: Say hi to jordan for me.

[Baby crying]

Charlie: Uh… is it…done?

Demon allie: I’m leaving this corporeal form.

Charlie: Master? Question, what do you want me to do with allie once you’ve left her body?

Demon allie: I have no use for her anymore. Do what you want.

Johnny: You’re not gonna lay a finger on her. We do it every night.

Tripp: You guys know how I grew up, you know, I felt like I didn’t belong anywhere. You two found me and you took me in and if you hadn’t done that, I don’t know who I would be now. I know I put you through hell there for a while but… here we are.

Kayla: Here we are.

Tripp: And I’m saying all that because… because I thought that I was gonna have what you two have.

Kayla: We know that.

Tripp: Yeah. I saw allie and me raising henry together, you know, and… maybe having kids of our own, you know, kids that would know from the jump that they were wanted. But right after I asked allie to marry me, like the next minute johnny walked in and told me about her and chanel.

Steve: That wasn’t johnny. It was the devil’s work.

Tripp: I can’t even–why does it matter why he told me? It was the truth. Feels weird talk about this now. I know what allie must be going through. I mean, I don’t know, but I can imagine. I just wish that she had been honest with me. I took care of her after she figured out what charlie did to her. She knew how I felt about her and henry. Why couldn’t she just level with me? Now I wouldn’t have made all those plans. I mean, that–that’s what keeps me up at night is all those damn plans and… I thought it was gonna be her and I against the world. I-I thought that now that she had my love I thought–

Kayla: You thought that nobody could ever hurt her again.

Demon allie: You’re not welcome in this circle johnny. I’m not happy with all your attempts to interfere with my plans.

Johnny: Yeah? Well, that’s too freakin’ bad.

Demon allie: How reckless you are. Don’t you know you’re playing with fire?

Johnny: You underestimated the love between my sister and me. You don’t get the family that I come from. My two grandmas can take you on.

Demon allie: Ha ha ha ha ha! Those two god-fearing harpies? Don’t make me laugh.

Johnny: Allie. Allie, it’s me. I’m here. I’m–I’m myself again, you can trust me, but you have to fight now. Okay?

Demon allie: This is the resistance I was telling you about. You know what to do.

Charlie: Yes, I do.

Johnny: I’ve seen your picture. You’re the pig that raped my sister. And I wanted to kill you when I found out about it. Looks like I finally got my chance.

Shawn: You sure you’re both okay?

Ciara: Yeah, we will be.

Ben: Yeah, as soon as this bastard spills his guts about the devil’s plans for our baby.

Evan: What? You think you’re gonna be able to stop him? Don’t make me laugh.

Ben: I stopped you, didn’t I? Huh?

Evan: You’ll be too late. By now the devil’s the proud owner of your son’s immortal soul.

Marlena: Ben? Ben, it’s marlena. I need you to call me. It’s urgent. Maybe we should go help johnny.

Susan: Of what help would we be?

Marlena: I don’t know.

Susan: This is johnny’s fight. Yeah, let’s just lea–let him and the police take on the devil.

Evan: The devil’s not going to kill your son. He’s going to be your son. Never heard of the demon seed? Once the devil has become one with little bo, he’ll be unstoppable. The kid was probably born with the brady charm and weston taste for blood. Now he’s gonna be raised from within by the guy that wrote the book on wickedness. So you fixed it so I couldn’t see my kid. Now you’re gonna have ringside seats, while your son walks through life making the whole world miserable.

Shawn: Stop! Listen to me–

Ben: Where’s my baby? Where’s my damn baby?

Shawn: He’ll say anything right now, stop.

Ben: Where is he?

Shawn: Stop.

Ben: Where’s my baby?

Evan: All I know is the time. Ha. Not the place. The ritual of transference is happening right now.

Shawn: Listen to me. We’ll get more out of him down the station. Do not give up hope. We’re gonna find baby bo.

Evan: Like hell you will.

[Ciara sobbing] My a1c stayed here,

Chanel: I wanna see mama.

Lani: She’s going through the booking process right now and can’t have visitors for a while–maybe tomorrow?

Chanel: Seems like I can’t do a damn thing to help the people I care about, especially when they’re in big trouble.

Lani: I’m guessing you’re talking about allie. I heard that she ran off with ciara’s new baby.

Chanel: I don’t even know who allie is anymore.

Lani: You’ve been through a lot too.

Chanel: Yeah. Those twins really did a number on me.

Lani: I’m so sorry, chanel.

Chanel: Yeah. Well, I guess now that I know it wasn’t them doing it all, treating me so badly…

Lani: I hope that it helps you.

Chanel: It does a little.

Lani: I need to get back to the hospital and see eli. But do you wanna come with me? You can say hi to him.

Chanel: Yeah, sounds great.

Lani: Okay.

Chanel: Yeah. You know, this having a sister thing…it’s nice.

Lani: It is. Come on.

Tripp: No matter how I feel about allie, I don’t want anything bad to happen to her.

Steve: Well, the two of you never had a chance to straighten things out.

Tripp: I don’t think anything will ever get straightened out.

Kayla: Even so, I mean, you might have turned out to be friends.

Tripp: I don’t know about that either.

Kayla: I just wonder what would have happened with the two of you if the devil hadn’t played around with your lives.

Steve: Chanel was a happily married woman. She made her choice–allie knew that.

Kayla: Yeah, and maybe it allowed allie to fully commit to you. Well, it’s a possibility, don’t you think?

Tripp: It’s kind of hard to think about what might have been. Chanel and I are like friends now. I never saw that happening.

Kayla: You see, because people change and feelings change.

Tripp: I was telling chanel that I think maybe life has gotten be too much for allie. And that was before I knew about all this devil business.

Steve: She’s had it really rough.

Kayla: Yeah. She had her rapist’s baby. And she’s been a good mother to him.

Tripp: Allie’s life turned sour the night she crossed paths with charlie. I thought I was gonna make things right for her again. Kind of arrogant when you think about it–I mean, who am I, captain wonderful?

Steve: I think you’re pretty great.

Tripp: Why’d this have to happen to her?

Steve: I don’t know, son. But no matter how hurt and angry you feel right now–

Kayla: I think part of you still loves her and you wanna help her.

Tripp: I’m just scared to death that she’s in a place where nothing I do now is gonna make a difference.

[Beep beep]

Ben: That’s my phone. Must’ve fallen out of my pocket when I was fighting evan.

Ciara: Baby, there it is.

Ben: It’s dr. Evans. She called like six times. She must know something.

[Phone rings]

Marlena: Oh! Ben, thank god you called.

Ben: Hey, what’s going on?

Marlena: We found allie. She’s heading for the cemetery.

Ben: What about the baby?

Marlena: I don’t know for sure.

Ben: All right, thank you. She knows where allie is.

Ciara: Hey, hey, not without me, you’re not.

Ben: You just had a baby.

Ciara: Yeah, and I’m gonna be there when we save him and save allie. Now help me find my clothes.

Charlie: You’re not gonna get away. You see, the thing is I’ve had lot of time to work out. Nobody told me hell had such an awesome gym.

Demon allie: Well done, my loyal servant.

Charlie: What now, master? Should I…finish him off? Like pulsing, electric shocks,

Shawn: Don’t get too comfortable. The van from statesville’s on its way. You gonna love solitary.

Evan: Ha. I’m gonna sit there and think about you and ben, ciara, your families… this whole damn town as you look on helplessly while your nephew and the rest of this rotten world all go straight to hell.

Tripp: Wow, I guess you’re right. I was really holding a lot of that in.

Kayla: I’m glad you opened up to us.

Steve: Hey, we’re gonna find allie and we’re gonna help her.

Kayla: Mm-hmm. And she will be saved because there are so many people who love allie horton.

Tripp: And I’m one of those people. Even after everything that’s happened, I’m still in love with her.

Marlena: Heavenly father, please watch over our grandchildren tonight. Bring them home safely to us. And deliver them from evil.

Charlie: Talk about a glass jaw.

Demon allie: Once the ritual of transference is completed, you can get rid of him and the sister.

[Engine revving]

Gwen: You want to bust me out of here?

Ava: Hey, we did it before when we helped kristen escape.

Gwen: [Sighs] What’s the catch?

Ava: There isn’t one. Look, I just– look, I know I let you down, and I’m trying to make up for it. Trying to be a friend. So you in?

Sarah: Xander?

Xander: Sarah, it’s– is it really you?

Sarah: Yeah, of course it’s me. Mom? What’s going on?

Maggie: Your voice, it–it–it’s normal. Oh, sarah, my darling. Does this mean you’re all right?

Sarah: Yeah, I’m fine, mom. Why–why do you look like you’re about to cry? Why are you both looking at me like that?

Xander: Because we– because we’re just so happy. So very happy. It worked, maggie.

Maggie: Yes.

Xander: It worked.

Maggie: Oh!

[Sarah chuckles]

Xander: Look at her, maggie. She–she’s herself again.

Maggie: Thank god. Thank god we gave her that antidote.

Sarah: I–what are we talking about? An antidote?

Xander: We’ll explain everything very soon, I– I promise. But–

Sarah: What’s going on? Why– why am I in a hospital?

Xander: You were drugged, but we gave you an antidote, and thank god it worked.

Sarah: Drugged by who? Why? What?

Maggie: You know, it’s a long story, and we’ll get around to it at some point.

Xander: But all that matters right now is that you, darling sarah…

[Sighs] You’re with us again. And you’re…yourself. And we’re just– we’re just so grateful. So very grateful.

Maggie: Yes.

[Sighs]

Gwen: So first you throw me under the bus, practically ruining my life, and now you are, oh, so eager to help me. I mean, what am I missing here, ava?

Ava: Gwen, I want to help you because I threw you under the bus. I told you, I feel guilty. I feel guilty because, you know, you’re the one paying the price when the person who should be behind bars is kristen.

Gwen: Kristen is not the one who helped me switch out the antidote that would have brought back sarah. I did that all on my own. And for what? I’m– xander and I are over now anyway.

Ava: I’m sorry about that. But I get it. I mean, if anyone knows, you do, that I’ve certainly done a lot worse to hang on to the men that I love.

Sarah: [Giggles]

Xander: [Sighs] There are no words to express what it means to be here with you now. And you’re looking so beautiful. Just being sat next to you, my– my heart is beating so hard.

Maggie: If gwen hadn’t switched the vials, what you did to sarah would have brought her back to us that very day. So what you did, well, it wasn’t–it wasn’t terrible at all, as it turned out.

Anna: Oh, maggie, it was terrible. Truly terrible. I was thoughtless and reckless– well, I’M… I am truly, sincerely sorry for what I put you through. Maggie: Well. [Laughs] Okay, then I think I better get back to the hospital.

Tony: So you glad you didn’t go on the run?

Jack: If you plead guilty, to the lesser charges, justin thinks he can get your sentence knocked down to five years.

Gwen: [Gasps] Five years?

Jack: That’s nowhere near what you’d be facing if a jury found you guilty. I’d say it’s a gift considering what you’ve done.

Gwen: Yeah, you’re right. But melinda trask doesn’t really give out gifts, especially to the likes of me.

Jack: You’d be saving the city the expense of a trial. If you agree to all this, it could be settled very quickly.

Gwen: In other words, I could be going to prison very quickly.

Jack: Gwen… this is not the end. If you make smart choices, good choices, it could be a whole new beginning. If–if you decide–[Sniffles] To accept, give justin a call. But don’t wait too long.

Anna: [Sniffles] I think that we should go down to the crypt and pay our respects to renee.

Xander: The antidote worked.

Gwen: I’m really glad it worked out.

Xander: So what’s, um– what’s going on with you now?

Gwen: Oh. [Exhales] Um…my father hired justin to represent me. He says that he can get my sentence down to five years if I plead guilty to the lesser crimes.

Xander: And are you gonna do it?

Gwen: I don’t know yet.

[Sighs] But I do know this is probably– this is probably the last time you and I are gonna see one another. So there’s something I would like to say to you. With depression, you just feel…blah.

Maggie: What do you think?

Sarah: Mom, it’s perfect.

Maggie: [Chuckles lightly] You look like your old self again.

Sarah: I feel like my old self. Thank you.

Maggie: You’re very welcome. I don’t want to let go. I just, uh, imagine losing you again.

Sarah: I’m not going anywhere.

Gwen: Do you remember when we first met?

[Chuckles] Then I saw another side to you. A softer side. You weren’t just some thug with no conscience and no soul. You felt. And you felt deeply. You felt deeply for me.

Xander: Look, gwen, I–

Gwen: God, you were so good to me, xander. Really, you were, you– you made so many sacrifices to protect me from my lies. Let’s see, what was there, um, disposing of a body, you went to jail, gave up $1 million, all to protect a woman so pathetic–

Xander: You’re not pathetic, gwen.

Gwen: Fine–a woman so desperate to have a relationship with her father that she just became this… hurricane of destruction. You see…

[Sniffles] When you spend your whole life deprived of any affection, and…someone walks into your life and genuinely cares about you–

Gwen: You get it. You get it. You were the only one who ever got it. You are the only one who’s ever understood me. No one has ever been there for me the way that you have before.

[Sighs] And I blew it. I blew it all to hell.

[Sniffles] I mean, you gave me your heart, didn’t you xander? And, um…god, I was so afraid of losing it that I absolutely crossed the line. I did. I kept you from the woman that you truly loved. The woman who inspired you to be a better man. The woman who helped you open that beautiful heart of yours.

[Sniffles] I was wrong. And I will always, always regret it.

[Sniffles] But do you know that through… all of my mistakes… with everything that is has cost me…

[Sighs] I also received the most wonderful gift. It’s one that you gave me. The gift of love.

[Laughs] You made me realize that I am worthy of love. And more importantly…

Tony: Are you sure you want to go inside? I mean, with all that’s gone on here recently.

Anna: Oh, darling, I think the worst is behind us. I mean, ben and johnny are both free, your evil twin andre is, well, a pile of dust. And the devil is on the lam. So I think we have nothing to be afraid of. I think we should go in, do what we came to do, and then after that we can go back to our champagne and back to our celebration.

[Keys jingling]

Tony: Shall we?

Anna: Mm-hmm.

Gwen: I have a chance to make things right. And if I take it…

[Sighs] I don’t know, I might actually have a chance of having a family. And there’s no guarantees, of course, but… if I make good choices, if I make smart choices, then this could be a new beginning for me.

[Uneasy music]

Anna: [Sighs] Well, rest in peace, renee. I know–I know it’s rather ironic, considering I never gave you a moment’s peace while you were alive. But despite everything that happened between us, I am sorry that you were taken from this world so soon, and… I do hope that you’re in a better place now. Mmm.

Tony: That was lovely, anna.

Anna: Your turn.

Anna: Mmm. You can say anything you want. I’ll give you a moment.

Sonny: [Sighs softly]

Maggie: Sarah, you barely touched your breakfast.

Sarah: It’s yucky.

Maggie: Well, are you thirsty? Do you want some juice?

[Giggles]

Xander: Knock, knock. Is it all right if I come in?

Jake: [Chuckles] Who could that be?

Ava: [Grunts]

Jake: [Sighs]

[Sniffs] Gabi… oh, come on in.

Gabi: Well, well, look at you. Jake mentioned you managed to land in his bed, not that I give a damn.

Jake: Gabi, maybe you can come back later.

Ava: Yeah, how about never? That work for you?

Gabi: Now works. Oh, looks like someone didn’t get a lot of sleep last night. Why don’t you go do something about those bags under your eyes so I can chat privately with jake?

Ava: Yeah. I gotta get up anyway. And, uh, gabi? For the record, it was jake’s idea to share the bed.

[Awkward music]

Abigail: It was only thanks to ava that we finally have proof of what gwen did to me and sarah. And as happy as I am to finally have goods on my sister, it just makes me a little bit queasy, I suppose, that a former mafia princess is the person who helped me, especially this particular one.

Kayla: Well, you are smart to be wary. I don’t care how many times ava vitali says that she has turned over a new leaf in life. She’s dangerous. Maybe even more so if she’s giving you something that you want.

Abigail: I’m sure you’re right, which is why I will remain on my guard as far as ava vitali goes.

Kayla: That’s wise. On a bright note, though, at least gwen is paying for her crimes.

Abigail: Not all of them.

Gwen: So when you say “make those bitches pay”…

Leo: Okay, to sum it up, abigail screwed you, chad screwed me, true?

Gwen: Very true.

Leo: So we either sit around feeling sorry for ourselves, or we go after them in a similarly ruthless fashion.

Gwen: Payback.

Leo: The bigger, the badder, the better. I know for a fact that if we put our deviously brilliant minds together, we will make them regret going after matty, aka leo, and guinevere, aka gwen.

Gwen: Well, matty, aka leo, as much as I love the idea of getting revenge on my sister and her husband…

Leo: I thought you might.

Gwen: Yeah, see, but there’s just one tiny, teeny little problem.

Leo: Mm, what is that?

Gwen: Okay, I’ll give you three guesses.

Leo: Uh, okay. You’ve decided that you want to live an honest and honorable life from now on?

Gwen: Wrong. Two more.

Leo: You don’t want to collaborate with me because I’m so unpopular, you think it will reflect badly on you?

Gwen: Nope. Okay, for your third one, I’m gonna give you a little hint, yeah?

[Handcuffs rattle]

Leo: Oh, right. You’re going to prison.

Gwen: Ding, ding, ding, ding.

Xander: I talked to a lab tech on my way in.

Maggie: Mm.

Xander: He said they’re running tests on the antidote, and they haven’t found anything in it that could harm sarah.

Maggie: Well, that may be true, but no matter how many tests the lab runs, it’s far from a complete picture. A full panel of tests to guarantee that the drug is safe could take months or years.

Xander: What if sarah doesn’t have that kind of time, maggie?

Maggie: Oh, xander. We’re talking about a serum that was cooked up by a mad scientist. My daughter is not a lab rat. I mean, whether she’s 7, or 30 or 130, she’s my daughter. And all of these weeks spending all this time with her– as strange as it’s been, to find myself raising a little girl again, I’ve cherished it.

Xander: Are you saying that you don’t care if she stays a l–child for the rest of her life?

Maggie: Of course I care. I just don’t want to tempt fate. This antidote– it’s a complete unknown. Now, maybe it will help sarah, and maybe it won’T. But right now, this very minute, what I do have is my beautiful daughter, my healthy, my happy girl who answers me when I call her name. Don’t you, sarah? Sarah?

Gabi: You sleeping in these days? I know whatever ava wants me to believe, I know it’s not true.

Jake: Can it, gabi.

Ava: Huh. Still here.

Gabi: We haven’t even gotten started.

Ava: Don’t mind me. I’ve got an errand to run. I’ll see you later.

Jake: Mm-hmm.

Ava: Thanks for being so kind earlier.

Gabi: Aw, what’d you do? Did you bring her disgusting lasagna to bed? Bet she’s cooking up a storm for you, right?

Jake: What do you want?

Gabi: Right down to business. No “how are you?” “What’s new”?

Jake: How are you, gabi? What’s new?

Gabi: I’m fine. Thank you so much for asking. Oh, although, I’m sure you’re not very well, ’cause I read in “the intruder” that you were attacked by the devil in ben and sarah’s apartment.

Jake: Oh, yeah, that.

Gabi: I mean, it sounded pretty harrowing. Although it is “the intruder,” so I’m sure they exaggerated the details.

Jake: No, it was 100% accurate… and, uh, not the first time.

Gabi: My god–wait, so you’re saying that’s the truth, that johnny was possessed the day that you two fought at dimera?

Jake: Oh, yeah, you mean the day that you two clowns ousted me? Yeah.

Gabi: So that means the devil attacked you, too, then.

Jake: Yeah. We’ve established that. So if that’s everything, then there’s the door.

Gabi: No, it’s not– that’s exactly what I came here to talk to you about.

Jake: The devil?

Gabi: No, dimera. I’m here to un-oust you.

Jake: Excuse me?

Gabi: Jake, I want you back.

Jake: Huh.

Victor: Will told you to take the job at titan?

Sonny: He did.

[Exhales] Will and I and ari… I don’t–we miss salem. You know? And when I brought the idea of becoming ceo up with him, he–he didn’t think that splitting our time between phoenix and salem would be a problem.

Victor: I thought he loved his job at that newspaper.

Sonny: He does. But he’s been working on a lot of feature stories he can just file from home. Plus, ari will be out of school soon. It’s already may. You know, will could just bring her out here for the summer. Plus, I’m sure gabi would be thrilled.

Victor: Oh, well, as long as gabi’s thrilled.

Sonny: [Chuckles]

Victor: So does that mean that you’ll take it?

Sonny: I’m in.

Victor: [Chuckles]

Maggie: Sarah? Sweetheart? Look at me. Can you say something?

Xander: Sarah, can you hear us?

Maggie: Oh, god, xander. What’s happening? We gotta get– we gotta get kayla.

Xander: Yeah, I’ll go. You stay with sarah.

Maggie: Okay.

Kayla: So gwen told you that she killed your grandmother?

Abigail: After everything she did to sarah, to me, she made herself out to be the victim because I ruined her wedding, I ruined her life. So I think she just wanted to hurt me as deeply as she possibly could. And the way she said it, oh, kayla, it was so hateful. It was vicious.

Kayla: And you believed her?

Abigail: Well, when we got to the police station, then she reversed herself. She said that laura’s death was an accident. So, honestly, I don’t know what to believe, which is exactly what she wants. To never know the truth is the worst form of torture.

Kayla: It’s just diabolical.

Abigail: Tell me about it. And I know I can never rely on gwen for the truth, but the idea that she could be getting away with murdering my grandmother?

Kayla: I’m sorry you’ve gone through this. Well, that you’re still going through it.

Abigail: Yeah, but it’s not just me. She’s hurt so many people. The most important thing, though, is that she’s behind bars right now, where she belongs. And I guess there is one good thing that came out of it. She gave us the antidote for sarah.

Xander: Kayla! You have to help sarah. Now.

Leo: Okay, okay. So, yes, your going to prison could be a possible impediment to our plan, but, girl, you’ve always been so resourceful. I’m sure you will think of a clever way out of this injustice.

Gwen: Okay, matty, as much as I appreciate your encouragement…

[Scoffs] My resources and my bank account are running on empty at the moment. I don’t even have money for a lawyer.

Leo: So even without some sleazy lawyer, it’s not like you’re a low-life criminal. So you drugged your romantic rival. It was a crime of passion. People get off for those all the time.

Gwen: This is not just about sarah, my friend. I do have a few other charges to take off the list.

Leo: Abigail. Right. Did you really assault her and then look the other way as she was shipped off to a desert island?

Gwen: It was a very nice island.

Leo: Well, you wouldn’t hear me complaining. But back on topic. Whatever went down with abigail, she’s your sister. You’re still family. Can’t you get your dad to convince her to drop the charges? Play nice?

Gwen: Are you joking? I mean, did you not just hear yourself call her a mean junkyard dog? Not to mention the fact that when my wedding did blow up and I was arrested, I… I might have whispered something to abigail that would be quite hard to forgive.

Leo: Well, I hate to admit, I’m salivating to know what that was.

[Suspenseful music]

I told abigail that I killed her grandmother on purpose.

Leo: Did you? I was on an antidepressant,

Victor: About time you returned to your rightful place at titan.

Sonny: I–I don’t know what– I’m sc–I’m excited. You know? A–as– as satisfying as it’s been creating a company in mom’s honor, I miss titan.

Victor: Yeah, well, they’ve certainly missed your leadership. But you can’t rest on your laurels. Your buddy chad over there and the rest of the dimeras– they’re not gonna stop looking for ways to take us down.

Sonny: Well, ch–chad’s not the ceo anymore.

Victor: No, gabi is, which is even worse. Conniving little weasel came at titan once already. Can’t turn your back on her, not for a second.

Sonny: Oh, okay. Yes, well, I promise to be as cutthroat as possible with the mother of will’s child, the child that we are raising together.

Victor: Good.

Sonny: I–I was being, uh, sarcastic, uncle vic. Uh, but–but you don’t have to worry, okay? You don’t have to worry. I will not let my personal feelings for gabi interfere with my decisions. Okay? Business is business.

Victor: Well, just what I wanted to hear. With you at the helm, titan is gonna come back stronger and better than ever.

Sonny: Um, there’s also something else I should probably bring to your attention.

Victor: What?

Sonny: Leo stark has sworn revenge against me.

Leo: Did you really kill the old lady on purpose? You know me. I’m a vault.

[Ominous music]

Gwen: Ava. What the hell are you doing here?

Leo: She obviously came by to show off her 30 pieces of silver.

Ava: If you don’t mind, I’m here to see gwen.

Leo: Oh, but I do mind. See, I’m not sure you know how friendship works. So let me give you a tip. When a friend shares a secret with you, you keep it to yourself. You don’t blab it all over town, thereby ruining said friend’s life.

Ava: Gwen? May I speak with you alone?

Leo: Look, linda tripp, I’m not going anywhere. For all we know, you’re wearing a wire. So stop wasting our time. Get the hell out of here.

Gwen: Yeah, what he said.

Ava: Okay, look, I know you have no reason to want to talk to me…

Gwen: You think?

Ava: But I would not be here if it wasn’t important. Please. Just let me say my piece, and then I will go.

Leo: Don’t let the door hit you.

Gwen: Okay, ava. Go on then, say your piece. Let’s hear it.

[Tense music]

Jake: You want me back?

Gabi: As my employee, of course. Did I not make that clear?

Jake: Yeah, yeah. You made that abundantly clear. But–

Gabi: But what?

Jake: Is this some kind of joke? Are you, like–is johnny gonna pop out with a camera or something?

Gabi: No joke, jake.

Jake: The answer’s no.

Gabi: Well, I mean– will you at least hear me out?

Jake: [Sighs] You got five minutes.

Gabi: Okay, listen, I was only trying to get rid of you at dimera–

Jake: You mean, stab me in the back?

Gabi: Because I thought you were making moves to screw me over. I mean–you told me I have four minutes; would you please just let me say what I came here to say?

Jake: Go right ahead.

Gabi: Okay. Now that I know the truth, now that I know it was the devil, I want you back at dimera.

Jake: What’s your angle, gabi?

Gabi: No. What do you mean? There’s no angle. There’s no angle. Y–y–you’re great with the clients. People love you. Y–you’re great at what you do. Shin has some–has a soft spot for you, and you clearly haven’t found any other gainful form of employment.

Jake: So what, I’m just gonna trot back to dimera and work for you?

Gabi: Yes.

Jake: I’ll say it again. What’s your angle? There’s gotta be one.

Xander: What in hell could be taking so long?

Abigail: Kayla’s only been gone a few minutes. I mean, she’s gotta do a thorough exam. She might have to do more tests–

Xander: More tests? They haven’t got the results back from the first ones yet.

Abigail: Look, I know it’s frustrating, but this is the only way we’re gonna find out what’s wrong.

Xander: I’ll tell you what’s wrong. We need to give sarah that antidote. I mean, the longer we wait, who knows what’s gonna happen? My god, what if– what if sarah doesn’t come out of this? What if she gets worse? What if–what if she dies?

Abigail: Xander, whatever is wrong with sarah, I’m sure it is not life-threatening.

Xander: How can you be sure? You a–a doctor? You a scientist? You didn’t even see what she was like. She was fine, albeit as a seven-year-old, and then she was staring off into space, completely out of it.

Abigail: Well, maybe it’s– it’s temporary. It could be a delayed side effect of the drug.

Xander: What, her powering down like a faulty computer? Tell me, abigail, when you were dosed, did chad have to reboot you like his bloody laptop?

Abigail: Look… I know you blame me for what happened to sarah.

Xander: Of course i blame you. If you hadn’t been so determined to get revenge on your sister with that bloody syringe, none of this would be happening.

Abigail: And you have no idea how sorry I am.

Xander: What good does sorry do? Look, um, I’m sorry. At least you came forward with the truth that gwen was more than happy to send sarah to hell with a second dose. I mean, if it hadn’t been for you… at least sarah has a fighting chance now. So as angry as I am, I guess I owe you my thanks. Looking to get back in your type 2 diabetes zone?

Gabi: I told you, there’s no angle. It’s just a smart business move.

Jake: Gabi, you don’t do anything unless there’s something in it for you. And I don’t mean that as an insult. It obviously helped you get where you are. But if you want me to join you, you at least owe me the decency to be honest.

Gabi: Okay, fine. Ej is making noise about wanting his job back. A lot of noise.

Jake: Ah, so you’re scared.

Gabi: I’m not scared.

[Laughs] I’m scared? No. I just need to be prepared.

Jake: So you need a wingman?

Gabi: I need only what you can offer.

Jake: Oh. This is gonna be good.

Gabi: No matter how qualified I am, and I am damn qualified, I am not a dimera. Not by blood, and that’s what counts.

Jake: That’s where I come in.

Gabi: Look, when I’m going up against ej in that boardroom, I’m gonna need a dimera on my side. That’s where you come in. And yes, your skills seal the deal, but once the board sees what a great team we are, they’re not gonna pick ej over us. This could be the–the power that we’ve talked about.

Jake: [Sighs] A lot’s changed, gabi.

Gabi: You got something better going?

Jake: We just broke up.

Gabi: Yeah. And we’re adults, right? I mean, you’ve made it very clear that you don’t want to get back together. I swear to you, I will keep our arrangement platonic, very similar to what you have going on with ava. So what do you say?

Gwen: [Sighs] It’s all right, matty. You can go, really. Thank you for stopping by.

Leo: Are you sure about this? You want me to leave you alone with her?

Gwen: Yes, it’s fine, honestly, really.

Leo: Okay. But if you need anything, I’m here for you because that’s the kind of friend I am, unlike some people.

[Tense music]

Gwen: I have to say, the very sight of you makes me sick. Do just say what you have to say and say it quickly, and then get the hell out of here, please.

Maggie: Kayla just finished examining sarah, and she’s on her way down to the lab to rush the test results. Oh.

Kayla: Which I just read.

Xander: What do they say?

Maggie: Go ahead.

Kayla: I’m sorry. It’s not good. According to these latest scans, sarah’s condition is deteriorating.

Xander: You needed to look at a scan to tell you that? The woman’s catatonic.

Maggie: Xander…

Xander: I’m sorry.

Kayla: I know how frustrating this is for both of you. We had really hoped that the effects of the drug would diminish over time like they did with abigail.

Abigail: But I got a much smaller dose, and it was just the one time.

Kayla: And that seems to have made a critical difference. In sarah’s case, the increased dosage seems to still be acting on her brain chemistry. First, it made her believe that she was a child, and now it is sending her into a fugue state.

Xander: But the antidote could reverse that process, right?

Kayla: I can’t say for sure. But that’s what we hope. In fact, at this point, it’s our only hope.

Maggie: But the drug– it has–still hasn’t been fully vetted.

Kayla: I understand, maggie. But based on these scans and the rate of deterioration that is progressing, if we don’t intervene, sarah could end up in a permanently vegetative state.

Xander: You can’t let that happen.

Kayla: I know, maggie, that you do not want to expose sarah to any more drugs. And this is absolutely your call. But if we don’t do something, if we don’t try this, I’m afraid it’s going to get worse.

[Soft music]

Maggie: Give sarah the drug. I have moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.

Sonny: Oh, my gosh. I thought I should let ysonny.

Victor: Damn it, sonny. Leo stark is just the kind of trouble we don’t need.

Sonny: Look, it could just be an empty threat. All right, in fact, it–it most likely is. But since the last time I got involved with leo, we almost torched titan, I thought I should let you know. Especially since he already went after chad.

Victor: I’ll say. I saw the article in “the intruder.” Since when did chad start playing for your team?

Sonny: Oh, my gosh. He doesn’t play for my team.

Victor: Are you sure about that?

Sonny: Oh, my go–yes, yes, I am sure, and more importantly, so is chad. But look, uncle vic, if I’m gonna come back to titan, you have to promise me one thing, all right? You can’t believe everything that you read.

Ava: I came here to apologize.

Gwen: For sending me up the river? Aw, how touching.

Ava: Listen, I really am sorry, gwen. You have to believe me. Look, I just– I never meant to sell you out to the cops. It’s just, they had me dead to rights. And I needed a life preserver ’cause I was going down. And unfortunately, the life preserver was you.

Gwen: My god. Did you actually think that you could come here and make nice, and say that I served as your damn life preserver, and that all would be forgiven? My family hates me. Xander hates me. I’m going to prison. You have completely destroyed my life, ava. Now please get the hell out of here now!

Ava: Not quite yet. Because I did not come here to beg for your forgiveness. I came here to help you.

Maggie: It won’t be long, sweetheart.

Xander: God willing.

[Door opens]

Kayla: Ready?

Maggie: Yeah. Sarah, kayla’s here. She’s going to give you some medicine, all right?

Kayla: Not to worry, all right?

[Dramatic music]

[Sniffs]

Sonny: Well, look who it is. You’re still in town?

Leo: Hi, sonny. I told you I wasn’t going anywhere.

Sonny: Yeah, well, I hoped you weren’t serious.

Leo: Oh. You know how much I love this burg. There’s still so much left to accomplish. Congratulations, by the way. “Sonny kiriakis named ceo of titan.” Guess that means you’re sticking around salem too.

Sonny: Yeah. I will be.

Leo: [Inhales] That is such good news. Now I’ve got you right where I want you. Mmm, you cute thing. Toodles.

Gabi: Well? My five minutes are ticking, so… give me the answer, and I’ll get out of here.

Jake: Okay. I’ll do it.

Gabi: Great. Welcome back to dimera.

Gwen: Help me?

[Scoffs] What can you do? Unless you’re planning on hiring me a lawyer.

Ava: Yeah, I’m afraid I can’t do that. But I can do you one better.

Gwen: How?

Ava: I’m gonna bust you out of here.

[Dramatic music]

Abigail: Did you–

Kayla: I gave sarah the antidote.

Abigail: So now what?

Kayla: Now we wait.

[Uneasy music]

Maggie: No news yet, I’m afraid.

Victor: Sarah’s a strong girl. She’ll pull through this.

Maggie: [Sighs] I hope to god you’re right.

Victor: Well, god and i haven’t always seen eye to eye, but in this case, I think he’s on our side.

Maggie: Mm. Well, I hope so.

Victor: You’ll keep me posted?

Maggie: I will.

Victor: I love you, maggie.

Maggie: I love you too.

[Sighs] No change?

Xander: Nothing yet.

Maggie: Shouldn’t something be happening by now?

Xander: Oh, believe me, maggie, I’m every bit as impatient as you, but we need to give the drug a chance– maggie.

Maggie: Sarah?

Sarah: Xander?

Chad: Johnny must be going through hell. Sorry. I just–trying to save his sister from the devil, I can’t imagine. I’m really sorry.

Roman: Yeah, all right, well, keep me posted.

Kate: Roman, please tell me that is news about our granddaughter.

Roman: I wish to god it was. John, marlena, eric are still out beating down doors. No sign of allie or the baby.

Eli: I should’ve never let lani go over there.

Steve: As you know, seth, my wife devoted years of her life to university hospital. She saved hundreds of lives, and you made the asinine decision to fire her because she wouldn’t play ball with the board and fire another outstanding doctor, who I might point out remains on staff.

Seth: Actually, I’m here to offer kayla her job back.

[Dramatic music]

Abe: [Groans]

Ej: Recent circumstances have led me to a bit of a wake-up call.

Ej: Finding out that my son was possessed by the devil for months, and not only did I not realize it, I was proud of his behavior–well, some of it anyway. Needless to say, it was cause for some serious introspection.

Chad: Introspection, it’s never really been your thing.

Ej: [Chuckles] Yes, but I suppose that’s part of the problem. I’ve always said that family was my first priority, but my actions haven’t borne out my words, have they?

Chad: From personal experience, no.

Ej: I might have unfairly held it against you when giovanni returned to salem, and he seemed to favor trusty uncle chad to dear old dad.

Chad: Well, I mean, I’m the one that used to sneak him out in my maserati, let him eat pie for dinner, and I never asked him to clean his room, so i don’t think it had much to do with you.

Ej: I’m quite sure it was. At any rate, I took my anger out on you and johnny. I made everything between us adversarial. I inserted myself in johnny’s movie. I insisted that I play john to abigail’s marlena, exploiting my past with abigail just to needle you. It was cruel and unnecessary. Not to mention that I proposed that you and I team up to take dimera from jake, put you as ceo, while all along, I had my own agenda to take the reigns solely in my hands.

Chad: It’s just business.

Ej: No, it was selfish.

Ej: And look where it’s gotten me, a son in trouble, gabi hernandez running dimera. I suppose it serves me right.

Ej: Maybe we should join forces and get gabi out of dimera, take back what’s ours. What do you say, brother of mine?

Kate: Roman, I know that we’re having difficulty reaching lucas and sami, but what makes you think that they’re missing?

Roman: The thing is, nobody’s been able to get ahold of them. Now, spotty reception is one thing, complete radio silence, that is another, so i called shane.

Kate: Because their cells were out of range, you call the isa?

Roman: Sami and lucas’ daughter is out there running around possessed by the devil. Her twin brother is recovering from possession. That is an emergency situation in my book, so I thought they might want to know. Now, I wasn’t worried about them at all until the isa told me it seems like they have just simply dropped off the face of the earth.

Steve: What did you just say?

Seth: If you would allow me to explain?

Steve: Well, that’s up to my wife.

Kayla: Come in, seth. Would you like some coffee?

Seth: I’d love some, thanks.

[Cell phone ringing]

Steve: Okay, this is julie. I better take it. She might have some news about ciara and the baby. Hey, julie, what’s up?

Julie: Oh, steve, thank god you answered. I need you to go to paulina price’s apartment right now, right now. Do you understand? It’s an emergency.

Lani: We need to get help, paulina.

Roman: Well, I’m just asking the question.

Kate: Look, roman, sami and lucas have been out of town for months. I mean, it’s not like they were caught up in what satan was doing and decided to interfere.

Roman: Yeah, look, I just can’t help thinking about the last time sami took off for months on end, how wrong we got it. We thought when she left town and didn’t say a word, sami was just being sami, doing what sami does, only to find out she had been kidnapped and her life had been in danger that whole time. Is it so far-fetched to think that might have happened again?

Chad: You want to team up with me to take dimera back?

Ej: Now that johnny’s back in town and back in his right mind, he no longer has any desire to take over the company. I can reclaim my shares from him, and if johnny votes with us, belle said that–

Chad: Wait, you already talked to belle about this?

Ej: She was eager to do something to make up for her role in my ousting, or what she thought her role was, especially now that we know that she really wasn’t the one who framed me since she herself was framed by someone else.

Kayla: There you are.

Seth: Thank you. I’m sorry steve had to leave so abruptly.

Kayla: Oh, I’m sure you are. So tell me, seth, what’s going on? Why the sudden 180 on the chief of staff position?

Seth: I’m sure you’ve heard through the grapevine that, after his wedding debacle, craig wesley abruptly resigned as chief of staff and left salem.

Kayla: I heard something to that effect.

Seth: You can see the position this puts me in.

Kayla: Um, desperate.

Seth: In a word, yes. When craig pitched himself for the job, he said he’d be ready on day one. You’re the only other person who fits that description.

Kayla: How flattering?

Seth: Kayla, the truth is, the staff essentially revolted when they learned that dr. Wesley had replaced you. And I’m here to eat crow until i choke on it and beg you, come back to university hospital as chief of staff.

Kayla: I would love to have my job back.

Seth: That is good news.

Kayla: Only, I have one condition.

Julie: Honey, I’m sure we’ll hear from steve in no time, and everything’s gonna be fine.

Just got to believe that tr cares about paulina, cares about his daughter and wouldn’t hurt them, but abe… he thinks of abe as a rival and just wants him out of the way. Oh, god. Paulina: Lani, sweetie?

Lani: What happened here, paulina?

Paulina: Ray said he was going to take me away on a romantic weekend, and I left the room to pack. When I came back–I should have known something was up. I thought I’d heard voices, but ray lied to me, tried to hustle me out of here, and that’s when I heard abraham moaning, found him like this. And I knew something was very wrong, and I tried to call 911. Ray grabbed my phone, threatened me, and then you came in.

Lani: Didn’t you get my messages?

Paulina: Your message? No.

Lani: Paulina, it was ray.

Paulina: What?

Lani: Ray, he is the one who shot eli.

Paulina: Who told you that?

Lani: Eli.

Paulina: Eli?

Lani: He’s awake.

Paulina: Oh, well, praise the lord.

Lani: And he remembers everything, paulina. He remembers everything the day that he was shot.

Paulina: But why would ray shoot eli?

Lani: Because he knew too much. Remember beth? She told eli that ray beat her and that he was using drugs their entire relationship.

Paulina: But beth, she told us the opposite. She assured us that ray was a new man.

Lani: She lied.

Paulina: Why would she lie?

Lani: Maybe he threatened her. He wanted to be with you. And he wanted a life with me. So he was willing to do whatever he had to do to keep us from finding out the truth, including–he shot my husband in the head, paulina!

Paulina: Oh, my god.

Lani: And I saw you and ray leaving the hospital together, and I was so afraid for you, paulina, so I left you that message, and I got here as fast as I could, and then I saw my dad unconscious, and I saw ray’s hand raised to hit you, and i just–I don’t know, I just–i lost it, and I–

Paulina: Baby, baby. It’ll be all right.

Lani: Why didn’t I just arrest him? He wasn’t even armed, and–

Paulina: Oh, no, baby, it’ll be all right, it’ll be all right, baby, I’m telling you.

Steve: What the hell happened here?

Paulina: I shot him. I shot ray. If your moderate to severe crohn’s disease

Kate: So are you saying that you think ej’s behind this? That he kidnapped lucas and sami?

Roman: No. I’m saying we don’t know who kidnapped sami the last time, now that ej has been exonerated.

Kate: Well, he hasn’t exactly been exonerated, roman. His conviction was overturned because of planted evidence. I mean, there was eyewitness testimony there. One of the kidnappers said that he–well, he identified ej as being the man who hired them.

Roman: All true, okay? All true, but still, that never seemed to sit quite right.

Kate: Well, I mean, who else could have done it?

Roman: Ej did point the finger at your son.

Kate: Roman, that was a completely baseless accusation by a lawyer who wanted to undermine lucas’ testimony. I mean, seriously, you really think that lucas could do something like that. He has absolutely zero motive. He loves sami.

Roman: Okay, all right, all right, kate. All right, look. I am just saying there could be other suspects, and that is something we need to keep in mind until we find just where in the hell our kids are.

Chad: You think someone else framed you?

Ej: Of course. Bell was never possessed. Johnny was. He must have been the one who planted that evidence on your laptop so you would stumble across it, then turn me into the police. Later, he copied the files onto belle’s laptop to make it look like she was the one who framed me.

Chad: You know a way to clear ej without incriminating me or lucas?

Kate: I think so.

Chad: Okay, I don’t see how we can pull that off and keep everybody’s hands clean.

Kate: Well, I didn’t mention everyone. I mean, someone’s going to have to take the fall, just not you.

Chad: Okay, I’ll bite, who?

Kate: I say we pin the crime on the devil.

Chad: Johnny did make a play for dimera, so that makes sense.

Ej: And that is all in the past. Belle has drawn up the stock transfer papers to help us make things right. All johnny has to do is sign, and all my original shares revert back to me. I’ll go up and speak with him.

Chad: Whoa, wait, I mean, his mind is filled with worry about allie right now. You sure this is the time to do that?

Ej: It’s not the best time, no, but this move will help us gain access to all of dimera’s resources, so we can be in the best possible position to locate allie and give her the help that she needs. Agreed?

Chad: Yeah, maybe, if you think it’ll bring allie home, sure.

Ej: I’ll go speak with him. I hope that this is the beginning of some healing between you and I, and for our family.

[Cell phone beeps]

[Line trilling]

Chad: Kate, pick up.

Kate: Hello?

Chad: You and I need to talk about what we did to my brother.

Kayla: If you are still expecting me to fire marlena, I won’t do it.

Seth: [Chuckles] The board has rethought that position.

Kayla: Really, what made them change their mind?

Seth: Well, now that the devil has possessed multiple people, dr. Evans’ scandal is so yesterday.

Seth: And frankly, her popularity amongst the staff is only rivaled by yours. There’s widespread agreement that you and dr. Evans are the finest physicians to ever have been on the staff at university hospital. And I have to agree.

Kayla: Okay, I accept. When would you want me to start?

Seth: How about tonight?

Lani: Paulina, why?

Paulina: The emts and police are on their way.

Steve: Is he dead?

Lani: Yes.

Steve: Lani can go with him. She can give her statement to the police later. I think you should stay here until they arrive.

Kate: So ej thinks johnny’s the one who framed him. I mean, that’s no surprise. We framed the devil. Everyone thinks it’s the devil. So what’s the problem?

Chad: The problem is that ej is reaching out to me. He wants a fresh start. He wants to be brothers instead of adversaries. He even wants to partner up to reclaim dimera. I mean, if he’s willing to take these steps, then I have to at least meet him halfway.

Kate: Chad, you can’t do that; you can’t tell ej you’re the one who framed him for kidnapping sami. I mean, it will totally implicate lucas.

Chad: Okay, I can do it without implicating lucas.

Kate: Oh, my god, we have been through this before. You tell ej that you’re the one who framed him, what do you think he’s gonna do? Do you think he’s just gonna forgive and forget? Do you think he’s gonna want to just hug it out? Because that is not ej’s style. Okay? You want a fresh start with your brother, well, that’s all gonna go up in flames, and you’re gonna be covered in ashes. Is that what you want?

Chad: What I want is to make things right with my brother.

Roman: Kate, look, I’m frustrated too, okay? But there’s not a damn doubt in my mind that rafe is doing every possible thing he can do.

Roman: Decaf. But you know what, I think i am gonna turn in. Not much we can do till daybreak, and I do want to get up bright and early to help search.

Ej: I also asked him about those statements showing i paid off the kidnappers.

Ej: Unfortunately, my son has no memory of framing me for sami’s kidnapping, which hardly surprises me, given that he doesn’t remember much about what transpired during that time, so I guess we’ll never really know.

Chad: Ej, there’s something I need to tell you.

Kayla: So everything that beth said about tr was a lie?

Julie: Exactly, he is a violent man, a lying, murdering–oh, god, now I’ve upset you. Maybe I shouldn’t have called steve; I couldn’t think of anything else to do.

Kayla: No, no, no, it was the right thing to do. That’s what steve was trained to do. It’s okay.

[Cell phone rings] Wait, sorry. Oh, it’s the er. I’ve got to take this. Dr. Johnson. Yeah, I’ll be right there.

Julie: What is it?

Kayla: There’s an ambulance en route from paulina’s address. The victim is unconscious with a head injury.

Eli: Did they say who it was?

Kayla: No, but I will let you know as soon as I know. I gotta go.

Steve: I know it’s not pretty, but we can’t disturb the crime scene.

Ej: Wouldn’t father be proud and pleased to see his sons coming together in the name of family and the dimera legacy?

[Tense music]

Kayla: Okay, I want you to follow my light with your eyes. Okay, good, very good. Do you know who I am?

Tr: [Chuckles] This really isn’t a good time, abe.

Abe: I need to see her.

Tr: I’m sorry, but she’s kind of busy.

Abe: She won’t be too busy to hear what I have to say.

Tr: You really think you own the world, don’t you, mr. Mayor?

Abe: Excuse me?

Tr: You have been running that woman hot and cold for the last few months. First, you don’t want to have anything to do with her. And now, you show up and expect her to drop everything to see you. Just what is so important you need to tell paulina right this very moment?

Abe: Well, not that it’s any of your damn business, but I’m here to tell the woman I love I want her back.

Rafe: Okay, johnny, thanks for the heads-up. We’ll take it from here. All right. Hey.

Shawn: Half the department’s out there searching. They still don’t have a clue where allie took my sister.

Shawn: That’s true. So that’s where we need to go. We need to go to the horton cabin.

Ciara: The devil fooled me, babe. I mean, he even tried to convince me that rafe wanted us to go to the cabin. And I knew it. I knew something was wrong. I knew something was off, I–

Ben: Look, allie was very supportive of us the entire pregnancy. She was good to you. She was helping you. She tried to take care of you.

Ben: You never got to hold our son?

Ciara: Mm-mm. The devil took that away from me. Ben, what if I never get to hold our son?

Demon allie: There you go again, just talking about you-know-where.

Evan: What is this? Who are you?

Demon allie: I think, if you search your soul, you’ll find you already know the answer to that. I tried to tell you at the prison, but you were just so focused on getting out. People call me all kinds of names, but you probably know me as the devil incarnate.

[Dramatic music]

Lani: What could you have possibly found out that would make tr want to kill you?

Eli: I caught him in the park with drugs. He had drugs on him, lani–heroin.

Lani: No. No, that can’t be. He–he told me that he was clean. He promised me and paulina that he hasn’t been using since he went to prison years ago.

Eli: I know that’s what he told you. It’s all an act. Lani, he’s still using. And he’s still abusing women.

Lani: Beth said that he has never laid a hand on her and that he’s been the perfect gentleman. She told me herself.

Eli: She told me a different story at the station.

Lani: Well, what exactly did she say?

Eli: She said that tr– that he was using the entire relationship and he was abusing her. Lani, I’m sorry. But that’s why I went to the park looking for him.

Lani: Beth came to see me at the hospital. She said she had something to say, but then tr came in, and she left.

Eli: Probably because tr got to her first. I’m sure she wanted to tell you the truth.

Lani: I should have known. Oh, my–I should have known that she was lying. I should have recognized that he had threatened her, and–and–

[Sighs] I wanted so badly to believe that– that he was a good man, that he had pulled his life together.

Tr: Who else would it be?

Paulina: Well, I… I thought I heard voices.

Tr: Oh, uh, that was a religious group. They were handing out pamphlets, “praise god.”

[Laughs] I guess… they were trying to save our immortal souls.

Evan: You’re… the devil?

Demon allie: In the flesh. Do you like this body?

Evan: The devil. Satan? Lucifer? Beelzebub?

Demon allie: Never was a fan of that last one.

Evan: I can’t believe this.

Demon allie: I mean, surely you knew I was back in town for my silver anniversary. I know you were in prison, but I’m kind of a big deal around these parts.

Evan: My father did tell me about marlena evans being possessed, but all the news reports said that there was an exorcism. They called it the christmas miracle.

Demon allie: Well, you really shouldn’t believe everything you read online. The internet is a hellhole of misinformation.

Evan: So… at the exorcism, you jumped out of dr. Evans’ body and into this random girl’s body?

Demon allie: This “random girl” happens to be marlena’s pastry-baking, bisexual granddaughter, allie horton.

Evan: You went into her granddaughter?

Demon allie: Not right away. After that nitwit father eric banished me from marlena, I actually went into her grandson, johnny. Then there was a brief pit stop in her nosy little daughter, belle, until I landed on my current host.

Evan: You trying to spend time with marlena’s whole family?

Demon allie: Let’s just say the sins of the matriarch have befallen her progeny.

Ciara: Allie… when allie was holding bo, I thought I saw her struggling. I thought for one second she might be able to push him out.

Ben: Well, that’s a good sign. That means allie–someone’s still in there. And she’s not gonna let the devil hurt bo.

Ciara: Ben, she’s not gonna be able to resist him. He’s way too strong.

Ben: Whoa, easy, easy. You just had a baby.

Ciara: Yeah, so?

Ben: So you are in no condition to go chasing after satan right now, okay?

Ciara: That doesn’t matter now, ben. I am a mother. I’m a mom, and it is my job to protect my child.

Ben: Your job right now is to rest. I will go find allie and bo as soon as we go get some help, okay?

Demon allie: If I wanted revenge on marlena, I could have snapped my fingers and wiped out her entire family line.

Evan: So why possess her again? Why possess her granddaughter?

Demon allie: Well, if i showed you allie horton’s resume, you’d understand my choice. After everything she’s been through in her short life, tragic little allie horton is the perfect host. And she’s proved ideal in my procurement of this little bundle of despair.

Evan: That’s ben and ciara’s baby, isn’t it?

Demon allie: Look, you figured it out.

Evan: What do you plan to do with him?

Rafe: What were you thinking, wanting to leave here?

Ciara: I was thinking–I was thinking that I needed to go look for my baby, rafe.

Rafe: Yeah, but not in your condition. You need to get to the hospital.

Ciara: I need to find my baby, rafe. We should all be out here, looking for him.

Ben: Do you have any leads?

Rafe: Honestly, I thought that allie was gonna be here.

Ben: Well, maybe she’s still on the island.

Ciara: Great, well, then, that is why we should be searching.

Rafe: Ciara, ciara, it’s okay. I have got people searching everywhere. In fact, when they found out that bo and hope brady’s grandson was missing, everyone volunteered to join in the search.

Lani: I have to warn paulina about tr before it’s too late.

Paulina: Why do I pay to live in a building with a doorman if they’re just gonna let any kind of weirdo up to my door? Oh, I’m gonna give them a piece of my mind. Where’s my phone?

Tr: We really have to get going on our trip. We can tell the doorman when we get downstairs.

Not, you know, “is hell a dry heat, like arizona, or a humid one, like louisiana?” Or “how long did it take for cerberus to become housebroken?” Or “are you responsible for robocalls?”, Which yes, I am.

Evan: [Laughs] Figures.

Demon allie: But no, you humans have a one-track mind, always seeking to understand the unknowable, and it is really annoying.

Evan: Well, at the risk of turning into a pillar of salt…

Demon allie: That’s the other guy’s thing.

Evan: Right. Anyway, you and I are supposed to be partners, right?

Demon allie: Hardly equal partners, but okay.

Evan: Don’t you think i deserve to know what you have in store for ben and ciara’s brat?

Demon allie: It is your lucky day, evan frears. As a reward for helping me convince ciara that that lunk, jake dimera, was her dead husband, you’ll become the first mortal on earth to learn what i have in store for little bo weston.

[Line trilling]

Lani: Damn it. Voice mail again. Paulina, it’s me. Listen to me, okay? Ray is the one who shot eli. He is dangerous, and you need to get away from him right now. Okay, please call me back as soon as you get this, and do not let tr know that we are on to him.

Eli: It’s gonna be okay.

Lani: No, I mean, I need to get to her before–she could be in real trouble, eli.

Eli: Lani, you need to call in backup.

Lani: Every available officer is out looking for ciara’s baby.

Eli: Well, there’s gotta be someone out there who can help.

Lani: I don’t need help. Tr needs to be arrested for what he did to you, and I want to be the one to do it. Okay?

Tr: I’ve been waiting a lot of years for this second chance.

Julie: Oh, lani! Oh, thank… tripp just gave me the wonderful news. Eli’s awake!

Julie: You’re frightening me, sweetheart. Just tell me what it is.

Eli: I remember who shot me.

Julie: You do. Who was it?

Eli: It was lani’s father. It was tr coates.

Paulina: He’s bleeding! What the hell did you do to him?

Tr: Listen, listen, paulina. This is not what it looks like.

Tr: No, you don’t have to do that.

Nurse: You should start to feel a lot better once you get some fluids in you.

Ciara: I feel fine. What would make me feel better is if I could help with the search party.

Ciara: I hate sitting here, doing nothing.

Ben: Ciara, the best thing that you can do for our son right now is to take care of yourself, because when we bring bo home, he’s gonna need a healthy mom. Okay?

Ciara: I know. And I will be. Ben, I only got to see him for a few minutes, and he was so beautiful, and he was so tiny and fragile.

Ben: I’m sure he’s pretty tiny, but I’m also sure that he’s gonna be very strong, just like his mom.

Ciara: [Whimpers] I don’t even have a picture of him. Oh, my god. I’m so scared. Ben, I am so scared.

Evan: Well, don’t keep me in suspense.

Demon allie: All right. Well, when you’ve been around forever, time becomes a little bit relative.

Evan: You said you’d tell me your plan.

Demon allie: It’ll feel good to tell someone. You know, sometimes it’s frustrating being this clever and this evil and having no one to share it with.

Evan: I’ve been told I’m a good listener.

Demon allie: Right. Well, as I was saying, after managing to temporarily possess marlena and various members of her family, to varying degrees of success, I decided that it was time for me to take residence in a more permanent dwelling.

Evan: So you’re gonna possess the baby.

Demon allie: Well, “possess” is not the exact word I would use for this process. You see, when you take over a human soul, you run the risk of their true nature constantly fighting you to get back to their loved ones.

Evan: So is this allie fighting you right now?

Demon allie: Like a tiger. And I must admit, she almost got through after little bo here was born. But with him, I won’t have that problem, because his soul is just as new and shiny as he is. There’s no time for him to form those pesky little bonds with his natural-born family that made marlena and the others fight me so hard. Think of bo here as my earthly do-over. He and I will get a whole lifetime together.

[Eerie music]

Evan: So how is this going to work? If you’re taking over the baby’s soul, are you planning to have ben and ciara, like, raise you?

Demon allie: No. I’m afraid ben and ciara’s part in this is over. And actually, that’s where you come in. It’s going to be a lot easier for the proper caretaker that I’m selecting if ben and ciara aren’t constantly trying to get their son back.

Evan: What do you want me to do about it?

Demon allie: It’s simple. I want you to kill ciara and ben weston.

Ciara: [Crying]

Ben: A few years ago, if something like this had happened, I would’ve said, “of course. It’s what I deserve.” But sitting here with you right now, ciara, I don’t feel that way. I don’t feel fear or despair. Yes, it’s a dark time, but… I feel hope.

Ciara: How?

Ben: Because we have to stay positive. And you are the one who taught me that. You taught me that just by loving me and believing in me, and I believe that we are going to see our son again. We have to, and I know it. I know it. Do you hear me?

Ciara: Yeah. I hear you. And I believe it, too. I have to. But, ben, there’s something that I need you to do for me.

Ben: Anything.

Ciara: I need you to go.

Abe: Well, I think things have gone beyond that now. I think there’s something romantic between them.

Abe: It just seems like a really bad idea.

Abe: You disapprove?

Julie: I do, and you do as well, and it’s about time, abraham, that you did something about this.

Abe: And what’s that supposed mean?

Julie: Well, I’m not a fool. Plain as the nose on your face, you still love her. So it’s time you got over yourself, abraham, and won her back.

Tr: That’s right.

Tr: I know this may seem sudden.

Paulina: Sudden? I’ve spent about three decades not knowing or caring where you are, and then you come here on business. Then you happen to bump into me, and the next thing I know it’s, “let’s tie the knot that binds.” To say that it’s too fast, that would be a massive understatement.

Paulina: Well, that sounds a lot less radical, but…

Johnny: I can’T. My head is killing me.

And I want you to think, think of a picture of allie in your head, in your heart right now. Just close your eyes, sweetheart. And I want you–what I want you to think about and I want you to get allie to think about, is I want you to get her to think about her son, and how much she loves him, and how much ben and ciara are gonna love their baby. Eli: So what else did I miss? You said the kids are fine, right? Carver, jules they’re okay, right?

Lani: Hey, hey, carver and jules were never left alone with tr. But, babe, he did help me with all of this. Paulina and I, we both had our reservations about tr, especially paulina, but even she’s beginning to think that he’s a changed man.

Eli: Hm, I guess I did miss a lot. Last thing I remember is I had the isa check him out.

Lani: Yeah, that’s right.

Eli: There was something else. I called the isa, and I spoke to somebody, somebody that knew him.

Lani: His ex-girlfriend, billie tracked her down.

Eli: Oh, wait. Yeah, that’s right. She came to the station. She wanted to see me in per–what was her name?

Lani: Beth.

Eli: Yeah, beth, the actress.

Lani: Yeah, she lived in la with tr, and she wanted you to know that he was sober the entire time they were together, and he never laid a hand on her. Do you remember that?

Eli: No, I don’T. You sure that’s what she said?

Paulina: I’m telling you, ray, it just doesn’t feel right leaving lani, with eli still in the hospital.

Tr: It looks like he’s gonna be there a while, and I don’t think he’d want you to put your life on hold till he gets out. We’re talking about a couple of days. We don’t have to go far, and we can come right back if anything happens. Paulina, you’ve been running yourself ragged, working, helping lani. Just think of this as some well-earned r and R. You can come back refreshed and ready to help lani again.

Paulina: Well, I have been stretched pretty thin lately, these days. Okay, why not?

Tr: [Laughs] You have no idea how happy you have made me.

Ben: How is ciara? Is she all right?

Ciara: [Gasping]

Johnny: She’s on the floor. Looks like she’s in pain.

Ben: Is she hurt?

Johnny: No, no, I think she’s in labor.

Johnny: I think the baby’s on its way.

Ben: Is allie with her?

Johnny: Yeah. Yeah, I think I’m seeing ciara through allie’s eyes.

Susan: Okay, johnny, just keep going, keep talking to her. Come on, come on. You can do this, sweetheart.

Allie: Okay, breathe, just breathe through the pain.

Ciara: Yeah, that’s easy for you to say.

Johnny: I couldn’t see that much, but it looked like they were in some kind of cabin.

Ben: My cabin in mammoth falls.

Johnny: I don’t know, I’ve never been there.

Ben: Well, the devil has. I need to get up there right now.

Susan: What…

Allie: One more push, ciara, okay? I can see its head. One more big push, one more.

[Baby wailing]

Ciara: He’s here. Is he okay?

Allie: He’s perfect.

Ciara: Will you give me my baby, allie?

Allie: Just perfect.

Ciara: Let me see my baby. Allie, allie, let me have my baby. (Beep)

Abe: [Sighs] All right. Let’s say you’re right. Let’s say hypothetically that I do love paulina.

Julie: Of course I’m right.

Abe: That’s not the problem. The problem is I can’t trust her. She’s lied to me too many times.

Julie: That’s a valid concern; trust is very important, but at this point, what has she got left to lie about? I mean, unless she’s the mastermind behind the great british train robbery, you know everything now, unless of course, I get it.

Julie: Well, I loathe tr personally, but he does have certain charms. He’s a smooth talker. He’s attractive enough. He’s sort of a hollywood player type. Perhaps at your age, you do not care to compete with the new kid in town.

Paulina: Well, I hope you’re not totally devastated about my turning down your proposal.

Tripp: No, this is dr. Johnson. I’m actually to calling for her. Is her mom there?

Tr: Dr. Johnson, this is lani’s father. Is everything okay?

Tripp: Oh, mr. Coates. Yes, everything’s fine. In fact, I have good news. Eli just woke up.

Lani: What do you mean, am I sure? She told me herself.

Eli: Okay. So the day that I talked to her, that was the day I got shot? How did it happen?

Lani: Hey, we don’t have to do this right now.

Eli: No, no, baby, I wanna know. What happened?

Lani: Well, what we know is that you left beth at the station. She said that you told her you would be right back, but you didn’t say where you were going or why, and somehow you ended up at the park. The drug dealer was already there, and somehow he ended up shooting you.

Eli: Why?

Lani: We don’t know. Shawn and I, we were first on the scene. The drug dealer had already od’d, and his name was frank. There was a needle by his body, and your gun was in his hand, and I just… I just really thought that I was gonna lose you.

[Soft music]

Johnny: I’m gonna try again. I’ve gotta get to allie.

Susan: You will, sweetheart. You will. You can do this, honey, okay?

[Baby wailing]

Johnny: Ciara had the baby. Allie’s holding him.

Susan: Oh, sweet jesus, please help them. Oh, please.

Johnny: Allie, it’s me. Listen to me, you have to fight. Don’t let the devil hurt ciara or the baby.

Ciara: Allie, what’s going on?

Susan: Oh johnny, johnny.

Johnny: I don’t know what he just did, but I don’t think we’re gonna get back in.

Susan: Okay, all right, you tried, that’s all that counts. You tried, sweetheart.

Johnny: I did better than try. Grandma, allie heard me. She told me where they were. She was looking at a ferry ticket to smith island. They’re not at ben’s cabin. They’re at the horton cabin. Oh, my god. Grandma, ben went to the wrong cabin.

Ciara: Allie, allie, let me see him.

Allie: Welcome to the world, baby boy.

Ciara: Give me my baby. Allie, did you hear me? I said, give me my baby. Give me my baby!

Allie: No, ciara. This is my baby. This is the sound of nature breathing.

Julie: And may I say one more thing?

Abe: Can anything stop you?

Julie: No, of course not. When you were shot, and we were waiting outside surgery for you to come out of that experience, I was with paulina. She would’ve done anything on earth to keep you safe. She loves you, abraham. She loves you fiercely. Do you really want to let a woman who loves you like that slip away?

Abe: No, no. No, I don’t want to lose her.

Julie: Then tell her you want her back.

Abe: I will, I will.

Julie: Good. Well, go.

Abe: Oh, I’m here to pick up the kids.

Julie: The twins are fine. You go to paulina now.

>>Abe: All right, well, you definitely have told me it’s time for me to get over myself.

Tr: Eli is awake?

Tripp: And we have every reason to believe he’ll make a complete recovery.

Tr: Has he said anything about what happened to him?

Tripp: No, no, he doesn’t seem to remember what happened before the shooting. That is normal with trauma like his.

Tr: I see.

Tripp: But it is possible that his memory will come back. We just have to wait and see.

Tr: Well, thank you for the good news. I’ll tell paulina right away. Damn.

Paulina: Did you speak to lani?

Tr: I just got off the phone with her, and she said, she thinks it’s a great idea for us to get away for a few days, and she wants you to have the time of your life.

Lani: Shawn tried to revive the dealer, but it was too late. So we had no way of knowing what exactly went down.

Eli: Do you have a picture of frank?

Lani: Yeah. There, that’s him.

Eli: He doesn’t look familiar.

Lani: And you don’t remember why you went to the park?

Eli: No. You’re under arrest.

Eli: It’s starting to come back to me.

Susan: Ah, shoot. It went straight to voicemail.

Johnny: Yeah, I don’t think there’s any service up there.

[Phone line trilling]

Susan: Oh, hey ben. It’s susan, all right. You went to the wrong cabin. It’s the horton cabin on smith island. That is the horton cabin. Oh, please god, let him get this message. Oh.

Ciara: Your baby? Allie, is this some kind of a sick joke? Just give me my baby.

Allie: Sorry, ciara, but I have other plans for him.

Ciara: What are you talking about? Allie, give me my son. Damn it, allie, do you hear me? Give him to me.

Demon allie: Sorry. I’m not allie. Honestly, I thought I was getting my floors cleaned.

Ciara: No, no.

Demon allie: Surprise.

Ciara: No, no, it can’t be. It can’t be. We thought you were in johnny.

Demon allie: In my business, you need to learn how to pivot. Taking on this particular corporeal identity was a spur of the moment kind of thing, but like everything I do, it was inspired. Like “call the satanic midwife.”

Lani: What do you remember?

Eli: I was struggling with the gun.

Paulina: Ray, hold your horses. I haven’t even finished packing yet.

Tr: It’s just a weekend. You don’t need a lot of clothes where you’re going.

[Knock at door]

Johnny: Rafe, it’s johnny. We figured out where allie took ciara. They’re at the horton cabin, and, rafe, ciara’s had her baby. You’ve gotta get there right away.

Ciara: Ben, oh, my god, ben.

Ben: Oh, my god, you’re okay. Baby, you’re okay, you’re okay. Thank god you’re okay. Oh, my god, oh, my god. I’m almost went to the wrong place and–never mind, never mind, never mind, never mind. Never mind. Where’s allie?

Ciara: Ben, she’s gone. And that wasn’t allie. Ben, that was the devil, and he took our baby. He took my baby.

TR: How are my two favorite girls?

Paulina: Mm, more flowers. You’re going to make all the other patients very jealous.

Lani: Thank you, tr. They’re lovely.

TR: How’s the patient? Any change?

Lani: Unfortunately, no. But I keep talking to him, telling him how we all cannot wait for him to come back. And, I don’t know, maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but I really feel like he’s listening this time.

Paulina: Oh, I don’t think it’s wishful thinking at all, darling. I think eli hears every word that you say to him and that he’s working very hard to get back to you and those beautiful children.

Tripp: So, what brings you in today, ms. Howard?

[Tense music]

[Elevator dings]

Chanel: How-how are you feeling?

Johnny: Much better. Yeah, as you could see, last night, I was in pretty rough shape, but I’m all rehydrated and good to go.

Chanel: G, are you sure? You’ve been through a lot.

Johnny: Ah, it wasn’t that bad. I mean, sure, I was possessed by the devil, held prisoner in a crypt, almost strangled to death by my dead uncle. But, hey, everyone’s got their problems, right?

Chanel: Yeah, way to put things in perspective.

Johnny: You know, to be honest, all that did do a pretty good number on me, but I’m fine now.

Chanel: And I assume you’re headed home to rest?

Johnny: No way. I need to find allie.

Demon allie: Now that I’ve convinced you that your beloved husband is dead and you’re in mortal danger from the maniac who killed him, you can stay here with me, where you’ll be safe. I’ll keep a close eye on you until you give birth, and then that baby will finally be mine. That’s the plan, ciara. And nobody and nothing is going to stop me.

Susan: Oh, ben, I got your message and I came as soon as I could!

Ben: Susan, I am freaking out. Nobody has seen or heard from ciara since yesterday.

Susan: Oh, what about allie?

Ben: Nobody’s seen or heard from her either.

Susan: Well, I mean, she’s possessed, so that’s hardly surprising.

Ben: Susan, I need to find ciara right now. She could give birth at any time, and the devil is after our baby.

Susan: Okay. You know what, ben? I know how scared you must be after tangling with the devil up close and personal, but you know what? You and ciara, you have a special love. And you know what? Love will always win over evil every time.

Ben: [Sighs] I really hope you’re right. And I really hope that we can use your powers to help me connect with her again, just like you did before. Please.

Susan: Oh, okay, okay. All right, you know the drill. You just go get you something of hers and then, we’ll get cracking, huh? I’m gonna have you two lovebirds chirping in no time! Whoo!

Susan: It’s a little small, isn’t it?

Ben: It’s symbolic. The bike is what brought us together.

Susan: You know, that is real sweet, ben. That’s real sweet. All right, we’re gonna do this like we did before. Nice and easy, all right?

Ben: [Sighs]

Susan: Okay.

[Inhales deeply] Ahh.

[Gasps] Allie.

Ciara: No, that wasn’t a nightmare. Allie, it was ben. I heard him. Allie, he’s alive!

Ben: Aw, so close. I-I almost felt her. I swear to god, I was so close. I don’t–I don’t know. Something happened.

Susan: All right, hold on. It’s-it’s the devil. The devil was messing up the signal, that’s all.

Ben: So then, now what? What do we do?

TR: What’s the latest with eli’s doctors? Do they think he has a chance to wake up?

Paulina: Ha, forget those doctors. This wonderful man with a smile that lights up the world? Oh, he’s coming out of this. I am sure of it.

Abe: Wow. It’s a full house, huh?

Lani: [Sighs] Come on in, dad.

Abe: I thought there weren’t supposed to be too many people in this room right now.

Paulina: Um, I’ll go. Yeah, I got to use the little girls’ room anyway. I’ll talk to you later, okay, sweetheart?

Lani: Oh, okay.

Paulina: Okay.

[Door shuts]

Abe: Well, was it something I said?

TR: More like something you did.

Chanel: G, it might not be that easy for you to find your sister. You see, I don’t know if anyone told you this, but she– allie, she took ciara.

Johnny: What? What? Took? Took her where?

Chanel: No one knows.

Johnny: Oh, my god. And the devil wants my cousin’s baby.

Chanel: Every cop in town has been looking for them. Oh, g, what if they shoot first and then ask questions later? I’m scared, johnny. I am so scared.

Johnny: It’s okay.

[Elevator dings]

Paulina: What the hell is going on here? I have moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.

Tripp: Ms. Howard, may I ask how you got injured this way?

Beth: I tripped. Landed on my face.

Tripp: Are you sure? Anything you tell me will remain strictly confidential. The doctors who work here are given treatment guidelines. They help us to accurately identify what’s going on with patients so we can provide the help that they need. I want to make sure that I’m doing all I can to help you, ms. Howard. So, I have to ask, did someone do this to you? There’s another option that might make you a little more comfortable. In situations like this, it’s often helpful to call in a female police officer.

Beth: No. No cops. Look, I’m in a lot of pain. I just need a prescription for painkillers.

Tripp: You should probably be admitted.

Beth: No, I can’T. I can’T. I can’t be here. I have to work.

Tripp: Ice first, then heat in a couple of days. And switch to ibuprofen as soon as you can.

Beth: I will.

Tripp: Would you like me to call a friend to pick you up?

Beth: No, I’m good.

[Sighs]

[Solemn music]

Abe: So what exactly is it that you think I did?

TR: Paulina told me that she made it clear that she still had feelings for you, and you rejected her.

Abe: And what the hell business is it of yours?

TR: Actually, it is. I care about her very much, and I don’t want to see her get hurt.

Abe: [Laughs] That is rich coming from you. If anyone–

Lani: Okay, stop! Stop! Dad, stop! Stop it! My husband is fighting for his life, and you two are standing there arguing? What is wrong with you?

Paulina: Keep your filthy hands off my daughter!

Johnny: Look, ms. Price, I know how you feel about me, but chanel, can you please explain to your mother that I’m not the horrible person she thinks I am? I’m sorry. I-I really have to go.

Paulina: [Scoffs] Of course. Of course he runs off. Damn coward!

Chanel: No, johnny really does have something important to do.

Paulina: Oh, yeah, and what is that? Get to a hot date?

Chanel: No, he spent the night here last night, mama. He just got released.

Paulina: And went straight to manhandling you.

Chanel: No, he was comforting me because I was upset. That’s all.

Paulina: Oh, chanel, please don’t tell me that you’re getting sucked back into being with that little punk.

Chanel: You don’t understand.

Paulina: Oh, I understand all right! I understand that he and his twisted sister, they treated you like dirt, shattered your heart into a million pieces!

Chanel: Johnny never meant to hurt me, mama. And neither did allie.

Paulina: What? Well, what is this? This 180 you’re doing here, chanel? Suddenly defending those two? Making excuses for their disgraceful behavior?

Chanel: I’m not making excuses. I’m telling you that– that they weren’t responsible for that behavior.

Chanel: It wasn’t them. Mama, they were possessed by the devil.

Allie: Ciara, honey, you couldn’t have heard ben. You were just dreaming.

Ciara: Allie, it was more than that. I’ve had this feeling before I know what this is, the feeling of ben trying to call out to me and reach out to me. I know that that is what this is. I just heard his voice telling me that he needs me.

Allie: Ciara, that’s impossible. And I know this is so hard to accept, but ben is dead.

Ciara: No, allie, I don’t believe that. Every part of me is telling me that that’s not true. Ben just told me himself. Allie, I have to find him.

Allie: Ciara, what you have to do is you have to take care of yourself and your baby, okay? And that means that we need to hide out here until they find evan frears, because if he finds you, he will kill you and your unborn child. Do you understand that?

Ciara: Yeah. Yeah, I guess I do. But what I don’t understand is why the cops aren’t standing guard outside. Rafe said he would send some, so where the hell are they?

Susan: Oh, the devil! The devil! He has isolated ciara! I mean, he wants her and the baby all to himself.

Ben: Yeah, but ciara doesn’t know that. She doesn’t know that allie is possessed, so she trusts her. That’s why the devil, aka allie, is able to manipulate ciara into doing whatever the hell he wants her to do.

Susan: No, not if she is strong and determined like we know she is.

Ben: [Sighs] True, but she just has to hang on until I can get to her.

Susan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. She sure as shootin’ will. You mark my word for that! And if that devil gets in our way, ben weston, we are gonna go right the heck around him! Ben: You remember how ciara and I have communicated psychically before, right? Like when everybody thought she was dead?

Susan: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I remember. Your wedding picture and the fortune cookie.

Ben: Yeah, but also when she was trapped in that glass room and she was being held prisoner, we had the same dream at the same time. I was romeo and she was juliet, and she used lines from the play to reach out to me and message me to tell me that she was alive and I needed to find her.

Susan: Okay. Do you have that play? ‘Cause this thing isn’t working.

Ben: Of course.

Susan: Okay! Well, don’t just stand there, romeo. Go fetch it.

[Sighs]

Allie: Actually, the cops did come by. Two cops.

Ciara: What? How did I not know this?

Allie: You were asleep.

Ciara: Then why didn’t you wake me up?

Allie: There was no reason to; they didn’t have any new information.

Ciara: No new information? Allie, they must have said something.

Allie: Just that they have an apb out on evan.

Ciara: Oh, so you’re telling me that we are still in serious danger and the cops just left us?

Allie: No, no. They are down at the dock, okay? It’s the only way onto the island, and they’re keeping a watch so that no one can come hurt you.

Ciara: Okay, well, I want to talk to them. I just heard ben’s voice. I know he’s alive and I need to find him.

Allie: Okay, the cops made it very clear that leaving is not an option. For your safety and for your baby’s safety, you need to stay here.

Ciara: Damn it.

Allie: Hey, ciara? Hey, you really need to calm down, so how about– how about we do some of your lamaze breathing, okay?

Ciara: [Exhales sharply] I was supposed to do all that with ben. He was supposed to be my birthing coach. Allie, I need him. My baby needs him. I miss him so much.

Allie: Hey. Well, you’re not alone, ciara. You have me. I’ll be your birthing coach. And I’ll be so honored to do it, to help bring this precious baby boy into the world.

Paulina: So you’re saying to me all that exorcism did was to get the devil out of marlena? It didn’t get rid of him once and for all?

Chanel: Apparently not.

Paulina: Oh, all the more reason for you not to go anywhere near those evil twins. I don’t want satan jumping into you next.

Chanel: Mama, please. There are more important things to worry about right now. Allie, she-she took ciara.

Paulina: What? What do you mean “took”?

Chanel: Kidnapped. Abducted. Tricked into leaving town. They’re gone and no one knows where they went, but we do know that the devil wants ciara’s baby.

Paulina: Oh, lord, no.

Chanel: Yeah. Johnny– oh, god, I feel so bad for him– he went looking for them. Maybe I should see if I could help him.

Paulina: Oh, no. Didn’t I just tell you that you got to stay away from those two? Now, look, you’re not going anywhere near that mess. Let’s just go get some coffee, and you can tell me the rest of this insane story.

TR: I will get the money. I know I said I’d have it by now, but it won’t be long. Next week at the latest. You have my word. Hello? Hello? Damn.

[Sighs] What the hell are you doing back here? Okay, snacks and popcorn are gonna be expensive.

Abe: Look, I am so sorry, lani. I-I know I should keep my opinions to myself. Ray is your biological father, and he has every right to be here.

Lani: Still, dad, I– I understand your concerns about him. And why wouldn’t you have them, given what you know about the man? For years, he abused paulina and drugs. But, dad, since eli’s shooting, he has been great. He’s been here every day. He’s been helping out with the kids. Don’t worry. I would never leave jules and carver alone with him. But they are his grandchildren.

Abe: Well, they’re mine too. I mean, you can tell me not to worry all you want, but–

Lani: Dad, I know. I know tr’s history, okay? And I will keep my guard up, but honestly, I do not think that he’s a threat anymore. Look, he’s trying so hard to prove that he’s become a different man.

Abe: I don’t think that’s possible. I know from kate and nicole, who had experiences with abusers, that men like that rarely change.

Lani: And my experience as a cop tells me the same thing. But rarely is not never. What if tr is the exception?

Abe: And what if he’s not?

TR: If you think you’re gonna shoot your mouth off to lani again–

Beth: I’m not here to see lani. I’m here to see a doctor.

TR: You can’t be seen like this!

Beth: You think I want to be? I spent the entire day in my room trying to bear it, waiting for my ears to stop ringing, my eye to stop throbbing, for it to stop hurting just to breathe. I finally had to come get some painkillers. I’m on my way back to the motel now.

TR: Not good enough. You need to leave town. Go back to la.

Beth: Excuse me?

TR: I want you on the next flight out.

Beth: But what about the movie? I’ll look fine by then.

TR: The hell you will! You can’t do a movie looking like that!

Beth: You did this to me.

TR: [Scoffs] You’re lucky that’s all I did.

Ciara: Allie, I appreciate your offer, I really do, but ben and I have been practicing for months. He was supposed to be my birthing coach. I really– I don’t think I can have this baby without him.

Ben: “If I profane with my unworthiest hand…”

Ciara: Did you hear that?

Allie: Did I hear what?

Ciara: I just– I just heard something. Didn’t you?

Allie: No.

Ciara: Wait. I hear it again.

Ben: “This holy shrine.”

Susan: Keep going.

Ben: “The gentle fine is this.”

Ciara: [Gasps] I definitely heard it that time, allie. It was ben’s voice. He was reciting “romeo and juliet.”

Allie: There’s no way.

Ben: “My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand to smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss.”

Ciara: Oh, my god. It is you. It’s really you, ben. You’re here. The world is full of make or break moments.

Ben: The next line is juliet’S.

Susan: Anything?

Ben: Maybe it’s not working.

Ciara: “Good pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much.”

Ben: Oh, my god. Ciara, I can hear you.

Ciara: “Which mannerly devotion shows in this? For saints have hands that pilgrims’ hands do touch, and palm to palm is holy palmers’ kiss.”

Ben: [Exhales sharply] Ciara, wherever you are, you must be hearing and seeing me too. I am alive, baby. Please don’t give up on me. I’m alive, and I’m gonna find you.

Ciara: I believe you, ben.

Ben: Baby, please tell me where you are.

Ciara: I’m right here, baby. I can reach out and touch you.

[Dramatic music]

[Exhales sharply] No!

[Sinister music]

Abe: Ray is always on his best behavior around you and paulina, but I don’t buy it. I don’t think he’s truly reformed.

Lani: His most recent girlfriend, beth howard, she even vouched for him. She said that he never used drugs or laid a hand on her the entire time that they were together.

Abe: What is it?

Lani: Remember when beth came by to visit me the other day?

Abe: She brought flowers.

Lani: Yeah, and after you left, she–she said she had something to tell me. I sort of forgot about it, but now–

Abe: Does it have something to do with ray?

Lani: I don’t know. We got interrupted, and then she left, and… I never found out what it was.

Abe: Maybe you should.

Beth: What are you gonna do to me that you haven’t already done? Shoot me, like you shot eli?

TR: Shut up! I told you I had nothing to do with that.

Beth: And you also told everybody that you weren’t doing drugs and you weren’t beating women.

TR: You deserve what I did to you. You broke our agreement.

Beth: So what happens now? I go back to la and you propose to paulina?

TR: And she says yes. Everything is working out exactly as planned with paulina.

Beth: What if she starts asking questions? Are you gonna kill her? Hell, you almost killed me just for being in the same room with your daughter.

TR: Keep your voice down.

Beth: Like I said, paulina price is no fool. She is not gonna let you get away with robbing her blind.

TR: [Scoffs] Don’t you worry about paulina. Worry about what’s going to happen to you if you stick around salem and anybody sees you like this. Let me spell it out for you, beth. If you show your face around town again or talk to anybody–anybody– about what I did, I’ll kill you. Get it?

Beth: Got it. I’m leaving.

[Tense music]

Paulina: Ray? Isn’t that your ex who just got on that elevator? The lows of bipolar depression

Paulina: That was the woman you used to date, right?

TR: Beth. Yes, that was her.

Paulina: Oh, well, I only saw her from the back, so I wasn’t sure. What was she doing here?

TR: Looking for me. She decided to drop out of the movie and go back to california.

Paulina: Just like that?

TR: Just like that.

Beth: Well, I need to be on the first flight to la, so a layover is fine. So, I’m booked then? Great, thanks.

[Cell phone ringing] Hello?

Lani: Hi, beth. It’s lani, eli grant’s wife.

Beth: Why are you calling me?

Lani: The other day when you came by the hospital, you-you said you had something to tell me. I’d like to know what it is.

Leo: You asked what the hell I wanted. The truth is, I spent my whole life wanting things– money, power, alamainian emeralds. But now I’ve come to realize there’s only one thing I want. And that’s you.

Nancy: Now, you know, bonnie, I really thought that I would’ve been the last person that craig wanted to see. Yeah. But I’m so glad I went. Uh-huh. No. You know, when I got there, he was such a hot mess. Yeah. But we sat and we talked, and we realized that after everything we’ve both been through, that we’re still friends. Yeah. No, no. Then leo showed up.

[Laughs] No one has ever accused leo of not having nerve. Yeah. And th– clyde? You mean the jerk who was going to take me out on my first date and then I never heard from him again, that clyde? I’m telling you right– oh, I’m so sorry. You.

Jack: What are you talking about?

Abigail: You know, based on his reaction, I’m assuming you didn’t tell him what you shared with me before rafe led you to the squad car. So did you want to tell him, or should I? I didn’t think so, because, you know, you never want to admit you’ve done anything until you’ve already been caught.

Jack: Abigail, what are you talking about?

Abigail: This is about the fact that grandma laura’s death was not an accident. Was it? She told me that she killed grandma laura on purpose.

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

Jack: Is that true?

Gwen: Course it isn’T. She must’ve misheard what I said.

Abigail: I heard you very clearly. Her exact words were, and I quote, “oh, and by the way, your precious grandmother, I killed that bitch on purpose.”

Jack: God. My god.

Gwen: Was last night not enough fun for you, abigail? Did you wake up this morning and think, ooh. How can I hurt gwen more? How can I make her pay even more?

Jennifer: You do realize that you really, really are not the victim here, right? But my mother was your victim. Or should I say one of your victims?

Jack: Why didn’t you say anything about this last night?

Abigail: Because I felt like you had already been through enough.

Gwen: Or you hadn’t thought it up yet.

Jennifer: Oh, yeah. Rafe had you in cuffs and he was leading you away, and I saw you, you whispered something in abigail’s ear, and I doubt you were complimenting her dress.

Gwen: It’s a problem I have. I don’t like someone else having the last word.

Jack: Why did you choose to tell me now?

Jennifer: Because I told her she had to, jack. You have to know. We are now talking about murder.

Jack: Are we? Did you kill laura?

Nancy: You know what? I take it back. When I stepped on your foot, I wish I’d broken every one of your metatarsals. Bonnie, look, I’ll call you back. I got to get out of here.

Clyde: Come on, nancy, wait.

Nancy: Wait? I have waited for you, clyde. I waited all day yesterday for you to call like you said you would.

Clyde: I know. I’m sorry about that, but there was a reason.

Nancy: Yeah. And I know what it is. You don’t want to date me, but you’re too much of a coward to tell me.

Clyde: No, my son, ben, he went missing.

Nancy: I–is he okay? Did they find him?

Clyde: Yeah, eventually. He was chained up in the dimera crypt.

Nancy: [Laughs] Okay. He was chained up in the dimera crypt? Oh, wh–wait. Did stefano dimera come back from the dead again?

[Gasps]

Clyde: No, it was the devil.

Nancy: [Laughs] Oh. And how is he doing?

Clyde: Listen, I know it sounds crazy, but it’s not funny. We found ben, but we have no idea where his wife is, and she’s about to have a baby. What we do know is the devil has kidnapped her.

Nancy: Y–you know, clyde, if you don’t want to date me, you don’t have to recycle old tales from the crypt.

Clyde: I swear on the life my unborn grandson that I am telling the truth. But if you don’t believe me, take a look at this.

Chad: I’m gonna kill him.

Sonny: Okay.

Chad: I’m gonna find leo stark, and I am gonna kill him.

Sonny: Chad.

Chad: I’m gonna get rolf to bring him back from the dead so I can kill him again.

Sonny: Buddy, hey. You’re gonna have to calm down.

Chad: Calm dow–how am i supposed to calm down when this is on the front page of the paper?

Sonny: I mean, it does make you look pretty busty.

Chad: Really?

Sonny: [Laughing] What?

Chad: It’s not the time to be funny, all right. You know what it is? Right now would be a good moment for us to reflect upon the fact that all of this humiliation and degradation that I am going through and continue to go through in this whole gay fantasia is your fault.

Sonny: Chad. It’s a picture of you in drag, okay? It’s not that big of a deal. It’s not degrading. It’s not humiliating–

Chad: The story is.

Sonny: What–what story?

Chad: The exclusive that leo stark gave to “the intruder.” Listen to this. Listen. “When I first met chad dimera in phoenix, there was an instant attraction between us.” In his dreams. “Even though he was a married man, he insisted we go out to a gay club. And after a wild night of drinking and dancing, the two of us ended up in bed together.” You know, and he leaves out the very pertinent fact that he crawled into my bed like a slug. I mean, the little creep outed me. And I wasn’t even in!

Leo: I want you back, craig. I want you to forgive me, and I want you to marry me.

Craig: Sorry. You already have a husband.

Leo: I told you, I only married darius so he could get his green card. He begged me to help him. Do you know how cold those winters are in canada? They are hell on his complexion, which is not her strong suit to begin with.

Craig: And why in god’s name would I care about any of this now?

Leo: Because I need to make you see I don’t love darius or any other man. I love you.

Nancy: [Chuckles] So you really expect a picture of chad dimera in drag to convince me that the devil made you not call me?

Clyde: What? No, no, no. That’s the wrong story. Here.

Nancy: [Sighs] “Crypt captive baby daddy rescued: Pregnant wife now missing”? Oh, clyde. You must be so worried.

Clyde: Appreciate that. But I’m really sorry about the dinner.

Nancy: No, no. It’s okay. I mean, you’ve got so much on your mind and, well, you just forgot.

Clyde: I was hoping that I could maybe make it up to you if you’ve got the time, and could take you out to lunch.

Nancy: But what about your son and your daughter-in-law?

Clyde: Well, police are looking for her, and ben would rather be alone right now. He’s always been that way. Unlike me, who likes company. Especially nice company, like you.

Nancy: [Spluttering] I would love to, yes.

Clyde: Well, good. Hope you don’t mind brady pub. I do have an employee discount over there.

Nancy: That would be fine.

Clyde: Good. Then you can tell me all about your ex-husband’s wedding.

Craig: Leo, I have heard you say “I love you” a million times. But I know that you were lying to me from the second we met. I–I don’t know why I would believe you now, hm.

Leo: You should believe me because of your feet.

Craig: My feet?

Leo: Yes. Your feet. When they hurt after a long shift at the hospital, I rub them for you. And when you order some drink you can’t stand, some fruity something, I trade my scotch and soda, no complaints. When you’re driving me around, I touch the back of your head, and I curl your hair into those little circles because I know how much you like it. Those are just some of the little ways that I show I love you. But there’s also a big way. You should know that I love you because for the first time in my life, I admitted that I did something wrong and I apologized. I’m sorry I lied to you. I’m sorry I seduced you and tried to marry you for your money. I am sorry for so many things. But there is one thing I am not sorry for.

Craig: And what’s that? Hm?

Leo: Even if we are through, I am not sorry that I fell in love with you. Because our time together have been the best days of my life.

Gwen: I’m telling you the truth.

Jennifer: He has your word on that? But really, I mean, what is your word worth? There’s no one in this room that would believe anything that you would say right now, gwen.

Gwen: My father asked me a question. Are you going to let me answer it?

Jennifer: Yeah, yeah. But first, can I remind you that we already talked about this? You swore to me that my mother’s death was an accident. And I believed you. You looked me in the eye and you told me that you were sorry, that it wasn’t intentional. And I–I accepted that. I–I accepted you as part of our family. So back then, was that the truth or not? Life’s been hard enough.

Gwen: I was telling you the truth that day. Your mother’s death was an accident.

Abigail: Which compels me to reiterate that that’s not what you said to me at the wedding. Unless, of course, I managed to misinterpret “I killed that bitch on purpose.”

Gwen: No, you heard exactly what I wanted you to hear, and you took it just the way I wanted you to take it.

Abigail: But why would you say something like that if it wasn’t true?

Gwen: Can you not comprehend that I wanted to hurt you? I mean, really, are you so perfect that you can’t understand a base impulse?

Jack: So that was a lie?

Gwen: Yes, it was a lie. Look, we all know that she is wonderful and that I am dirt. But she said that she would be my matron of honor. She said she’d be my sister, and I believed her. But instead she used my wedding as a way to kill any chance that I would ever at being happy, to make sure that I would lose xander, to make sure I would lose my father. I was handcuffed, so I couldn’t exactly punch her, could I? So instead, I punched her with my words.

Chad: “It was clear that since that fabulous night to remember, chad could not forget about me. When I returned to salem, he left his wife and small children at home and came knocking at my hotel room door drunk and begging me for sex.”

Sonny: Chad, I’m–

Chad: Shut up. There’s more. “Earlier, his soon-to-be cuckolded wife, abigail dimera–” that’s great. He took a swipe at her. She’s gonna love that. “Abigail dimera confided to me that chad was obsessed with me.” As I recall, that was another one of your ideas. You were full of wonderful ideas that night, weren’t you?

Sonny: I know. Mea culpa. All right? Mea culpa.

Chad: “But I rejected chad’s desperate pleas for a one-on-one liaison because I was engaged and in love with another man.”

Sonny: Wh– who are you calling?

Chad: Who do you think I am calling? I am calling my lawyer, so I can sue “the intruder” and leo for libel.

Sonny: Are you sure you want to do that?

Craig: Are you trying to play me again, leo?

Leo: I’ve always been a player. But in this particular moment, I’m being perfectly straight with you. Poor choice of words.

Craig: You are actually gay, aren’t you?

Leo: Now, that would be quite the con, huh? But you more than anybody should know, I am gay.

Craig: You said you fell in love with me, but when we first met–

Leo: You were just another mark.

Craig: Yeah.

Leo: I could tell you were closeted, so I lured you out with every intention of marrying you, divorcing you, and taking you for every penny you had. I would’ve succeeded too, had it not been for will, sonny, chad, brady, and your daughter, chloe.

Nancy: I guess you could say that craig and leo’s wedding didn’t go off without a hitch. But then again, maybe– maybe it did.

Clyde: I have no idea what that means, but I look forward to you explaining it to me over lunch. Shall we?

Chloe: Mom?

Nancy: Oh, hi, honey.

Chloe: What the hell are you doing with this guy? Find your beat

Nancy: Chloe, language. Clyde, this is my daughter and her boyfriend, brady black. Oh, is it all right if I call you her boyfriend?

Brady: Yeah, yeah, that’s– that’s fine by me.

Nancy: Oh, good. Well, this is clyde weston.

Chloe: Yeah, we know who he is.

Nancy: Oh, good. Then you should know we are about to go on our first date.

Chloe: Over my dead body.

Chad: Well, the way I see it, I have two options. I can kill him or I can sue him.

Sonny: Okay, look, I really don’t think you want to do that.

Chad: Yes, sonny, I really do want to do that.

Sonny: Okay, look, in order to sue for libel, there has to be false statement purporting to be fact. Technically, everything in this article, everything that you and abigail said and did is true. You did try to seduce leo.

Chad: Yeah, because you pleaded with me to do it. Once again, this was your fault. Actually, you know what, sonny? This was my fault, okay? Because I let you talk me into what I knew to be a deeply, truly horrible idea.

Leo: No matter what they did to try and break us up, I was always one step ahead of them. And I would’ve gotten away with it too, had it not been for those meddling kids.

Craig: Scooby-doo?

Leo: Getting up early on sunday mornings to watch old saturday morning cartoons with you. Another example of how I love you.

Craig: Or two cases of arrested development.

Leo: It just got scary, how much we have in common, how easy it was to be with you, how fun.

Craig: And my money had nothing to do with how easy it all was?

Leo: Well, I won’t deny it. I liked your money too. I tell you, that prenup chloe had drawn up was a stroke of genius. A move I did not anticipate. When I saw it, my first thought was, game over. There’s nothing I can do but walk away. There’s nothing left in this for me.

Craig: Then why did you sign it, hm?

Leo: I signed it because in that moment, when given the choice between giving up everything that I had worked for, everything that you had worked for, I didn’t care about losing any of it. I didn’t care that darius was gonna be furious with me. I only cared about losing you. And now, the million-dollar question. Do you believe me? I think you do. But you don’t have to answer that question. Answer this one instead. Can you forgive me? Can we please start over?

Abigail: Why should we believe you, hm? After all of the horrible things that you have done to our family, it is hardly a stretch to think that you could’ve killed grandma laura. You drugged me. It took me months to recover, but I did; I was lucky. But poor sarah? You made sure she got a second dose of the drug. She may never be herself ever again.

Jack: Actually, there’s reason for hope. Gwen told xander where he could find rolf’s antidote. She’s doing what she can to undo the harm.

Abigail: [Scoffs] So what, am I– am I just supposed to act like she’s mother teresa now? Or dad, maybe her back is up against the wall, she’s actually having to pay for something that she’s done, and this is just some last minute sympathy. You know, I sure hope that maggie and xander take the time to test whatever it is you led them to.

Gwen: Do you really think–

Abigail: That you would do it again? Yes. I do. You know why? Because you have made it very clear that anybody who is loved by anyone that you think is supposed to love you is fair game. I think you would be willing to hurt sarah now more than you ever have.

Gwen: You said your piece. Now, I’d like a moment alone with my father, please.

Abigail: I bet you would.

Jennifer: Jack. I will support any decision that you make right now. But I want you to know that I will never trust that woman to be a part of our family ever again.

Gwen: You said at the wedding that you were done with me. And now, today, there’s even more damning evidence against me. So I take it nothing’s gonna change your mind about me. Right?

Jack: You’ll always be my daughter.

Gwen: Yeah, you’re talking biologically.

Jack: No. When laura sent your mother away, she made you think that I turned my back on you, that I knew about you, but went on living my life pretending you didn’t exist. I never chose to do that.

Gwen: So– so we can move past this?

Jack: I will always be your father. But after what you did to sarah, and to abigail, I honestly don’t know what kind of a family we could ever be.

[Dramatic music]

Nancy: Chloe, I know it’s hard to see me moving on from your father, but what’s good for the gander is good for the goose. Especially when the gander likes ganders.

Chloe: Oh, mom, I don’t care that you’re dating. It’s who you’re dating. This guy just got out of prison.

Nancy: I know that. Clyde told me. You know, listen, men can change who they are. And clyde said he’s changed, and I believe him. Now, shall we go? I’m starving.

Chloe: Ugh, why am I getting a feeling of déj vu? I just–I’ve spent the last few months trying to stop one parent from dating the wrong person, and now I have to do the same with the other parent?

Brady: Look, I was here for you when it was leo and your dad, so I’m gonna be here for you with clyde and your mom.

Chloe: Thank you. At least I know I’m dating the right person.

Chad: Well, then if I can’t sue him, I’m gonna give my own interview. I’ll tell everyone that leo stark is a bigamist.

Sonny: Chad, you really want to sink down to his level?

Chad: Yes, he hit me below the belt. It’s time to return the favor.

Sonny: I’m telling you, I–I really just think you should let this go. Okay, stories like this, they tend to just fizzle out on their own. You would just be adding fuel to the fire.

Chad: Oh, yeah? That’s easy for you to say. You’re not even mentioned in the article.

Sonny: Wait, what? You’re right.

Chad: Yeah. Why is that? Why didn’t leo come after you? Maybe leo was right. Maybe that’s why you didn’t come to the wedding.

Sonny: Don’t even infer that. Okay, I told you, I had a business meeting. Okay, and besides, you heard what he said. Leo was going after everyone who came between him and craig. And I have a sickening feeling you were just the first one on the list.

Craig: I do believe you love me, leo. Part of me wants to forgive you and take you in my arms and hold you and never let you go.

Leo: But?

Craig: But I don’t trust you. And trust is something that matters to me. I took a huge leap of faith to be with you. I had to stop living a lie, a lie that I was telling myself and telling the world.

Leo: That’s a good thing, craig.

Craig: Yeah. But in the process, I tore apart my family, and I hurt the only woman I ever loved, just to love you.

Leo: Does that mean you’re going back to be with nancy?

Craig: No. I am gay. And I will never hide that again.

[Sighs] But you and I, we’re done. I left your stuff downstairs.

Brady: I just saw the article in which leo outed chad.

Sonny: Yeah, I was there when chad saw it, and it was not pretty.

Brady: Yeah. Yeah. I’ll admit, I mean, when I saw the picture, it was– it was kind of funny, but then I read the article, and I’ll tell you, that leo, he’s quite the creep. I mean, every one of those lies was calculated to hurt.

Sonny: Yeah, well, that’s leo for you. He didn’t just go after chad. He went after his marriage, his family.

Brady: Yeah, which is odd. I think it’s odd because why wouldn’t he–why wouldn’t he go after me or chloe? Why chad?

Sonny: Or me.

Leo: Well, don’t worry. You’re next. And in case you’re feeling left out, brady, once I’m done with sonny boy here, you and you vacuous little girlfriend will then be next.

Chloe: Dad, hey, I got your text. I was starting to think that you maybe never wanted to see me again.

Craig: Oh, now you know that was never gonna happen.

Chloe: I know last night was awful; I’m sorry.

Craig: It’s okay; there’s no need for a postmortem. Leo and I have said our goodbyes.

Chloe: Again, I’m sorry.

Craig: It’s okay. I know I was upset last night.

Chloe: And you had every right to be.

Craig: Ah, but, having had time to think, I realized that everything you did, you had reason for. You did everything because you love me.

Chloe: I do. And I swear that’s why I did it.

Craig: I know.

Chloe: Unfortunately, I have a lot of experience in putting my life back together again, so if you need me to talk you through it, you know?

Jennifer: The horrible thing is, jack, is given the arrogance of what my mom did, and then gwen had to pay for that arrogance, I can understand why she would want my mom dead.

Jack: After you left, she swore to me that she didn’t kill laura, that she was telling the truth when she told us that all she was trying to do was hurt abigail, which in and of itself is pretty horrifying, as if she hadn’t hurt abigail enough already.

Jennifer: So which of the two scenarios are the truth, jack?

Jack: Damned if I know.

Abigail: So were you lying to my mother when you said you didn’t kill her? Or were you lying to me when you said that you did?

Gwen: Not knowing is killing you, isn’t it? And knowing that, I’m never gonna give you an answer. Oh, abigail. Poor you. I am never going to tell you what really happened to your sweet little granny. You will never know. Payback’s a bitch, isn’t it?

Chad: No, my wife is not leaving me for another woman. No, no, no. No, I did not have a threesome with two men. I don’t know where you get your information, buddy, but if you print this garbage, I am gonna make you pay.

[Cell phone ringing] Ugh.

Craig: I already gave seth burns my resignation. I didn’t feel good about taking the job away from kayla. The hospital will run much better with her in charge.

Craig: No. But I’m glad you came over so i could say goodbye before I left. I wanted to see you. And I wanted to tell you, princess, that I am sorry. I’m sorry about how much I hurt you and how much I hurt your mother.

Chloe: Dad, all I ever wanted was for you to be happy.

Craig: I know.

Chloe: Okay? And I know that you were never gonna be happy not being who you really are. And the fact that leo is–

Craig: Ah.

Chloe: Okay, I’m not gonna repeat what I think about leo. But I just hope that someday you meet a man who’s worthy of you.

Chloe: And despite all the drama and the fighting, I was really glad to have you back. And I’m gonna miss you.

Chad: That’s right. We had one bride, three grooms, and not a single “I do.” It was a very salem wedding.

Sonny: I’m sorry to stop you, but, chad, can we– can we get back to leo, please?

Chad: You mean his devastation…

Sonny: Mm-hmm.

Chad: His utter defeat, his total public humiliation?

Sonny: Oh, that it is, like, the most incredible freudenschade ever. I just–I wish I could have seen what his face looked like when you showed up with his first husband.

Leo: The face looked just like this: Ready to kill.

[Dramatic music]

Craig: [Sighs]

[Knock at door] Go away.

[Urgent knocking] Whoever it is, go away.

Nancy: Craig, it’s me, nancy.

Craig: Are you here for your “I told you so” moment? You deserve it. God knows I do.

Xander: Hi, maggie.

Maggie: Xander. Oh, my goodness. It’s so good to see you, aw.

Xander: It’s good to see you too. I heard you were back. How’s sarah?

Maggie: Well, she’s settling into the clinic. Everyone there is– they’re wonderful, but… there hasn’t been any change.

Xander: I’m sorry. Must have been hard leaving her like that.

Maggie: Well, they said it was better that I do. Wait a minute. What are you doing here? I thought you and gwen would be on your honeymoon.

Xander: Yeah, well… there was no honeymoon because there was no wedding.

[Laughter] But we should go get those tuxes fitted. I don’t wanna be late for my own wedding.

Gwen: Oh, yeah. So… hey, the next time that I see you…

Xander: I’ll be making an honest woman of you.

Gwen: [Laughs] Yeah, we’ll see about that.

[Door clicks open] Xander?

Jack: Guess again.

Jennifer: Yeah. Thanks, shawn. And please let me know if there’s anything that I can do to help. Yeah, and we’ll just be praying that ciara is found safe and very soon. All right, bye-bye.

Abigail: Do the police have any leads at all?

Jennifer: No, no. This world has gone mad. Ciara’s missing. Christian maddox is on the loose. Allie is possessed by the devil.

Abigail: You know, maybe this isn’t really a good time.

Jennifer: No, honey, I’m sorry. No, what’s going on?

Abigail: It’s nothing.

Jennifer: No, you came here for a reason. Really, what is it?

Gwen: Just so you know, your precious grandmother, I killed that old bitch on purpose.

Jennifer: Abigail, what is it?

Abigail: It’s about gwen.

[Soft orchestration]

Maggie: Xander, what happened?

Xander: Look, let’s just– let’s sit down, okay?

Maggie: Honey, are you all right? You were so determined to get married.

Xander: Maggie, I just– I couldn’t go through with it. There were– there were things about gwen that I didn’t know.

Maggie: Like what?

Xander: [Sighs] It’s about sarah.

Gwen: Well, I sure wasn’t expecting to see you. The last thing you said to me was that you were done with me.

Jack: This was jennifer’s idea.

Gwen: Oh, come on. Don’t joke. Nobody’s that wonderful.

Jack: Don’t you dare. Don’t you dare say anything about her.

Gwen: You’re right. You’re right. It’s a force of habit. Always attack, never admit. Sorry.

[Sighs] Yeah, like you’re ever gonna believe I’m sorry, like you’re ever gonna believe a single word that comes out of my mouth again. This is true, though. Besides xander, I– I cannot even bear to imagine what last night must have been like for you.

Jack: Wasn’t “father of the bride,” was it? I forgave you over and over.

Gwen: You forgave the unforgivable, and I threw all that forgiveness back in your face.

Jack: [Sighs] Jennifer says– last night when I told you I was done with you, I meant it. I hate what you did. But jennifer said–says I won’t be able to pull it off. There’s nothing I can do about the fact that you’re my daughter. I can’t be done with you.

Gwen: Well, my mum managed to pull it off. Why can’t you? I mean, god, haven’t I given you enough bloody reasons?

Jack: More than enough. When I think about what you did to abigail, to my family, I can, in some weird, dark deveraux way, understand why you did it, but this, what you did to sarah, is unfathomable.

Gwen: Again, I don’t expect you to believe me, but the reason I did that– and I have a hard time believing it myself, but… the reason I did that…

Jack: What? You gonna tell me the devil made you do it?

Gwen: In a way, yes.

Leo: I told harold I was the new french maid. Does it matter how I got in here? Did you think you could do what you did without one final confrontation, like I was just gonna slink away?

Sonny: Certainly hope so.

Leo: At least she had the kishkes to show up at the wedding and look me in the eye as she shattered my dreams, while you, no doubt, were cowering in the kiriakis fruit cellar, terrified of the forces you’d unleashed.

Sonny: I had a work call. Otherwise–oh, yeah, no, I wouldn’t have missed it.

Leo: A work call.

[Mockingly] “This is sonny. I’m 6’3″ with a swimmer’s build.” Please.

Chad: Leo, don’t you think the moral outrage would pack a bigger punch if you were an innocent victim and not a– well, how should I put it– a manipulative, conniving little worm?

Leo: Oh, you and the wife, the moral police, the jim and tammy faye of salem blowing up not one marriage but two in the name of middle-class morality.

Sonny: Okay, I think both the upper class and the lower class would agree that, you know, bigamy and kidnapping are, um, wrong.

Leo: Okay, you keep telling yourself that this all stems from your desire to see justice done. I’ve known this entire time what your little crusade was all about, and it’s rather pathetic.

Sonny: What?

Chad: Okay. I’ll bite. What’s it all about?

Leo: Obviously sonny wants me back.

Craig: Go ahead. Enjoy yourself. You were right. Leo is a gold digger, and I was an utter fool. Oh, wait, nancy. Please, don’t close that door. By now, all salem knows what an idiot I was. Go ahead. Be as loud as you want. Rub it in. Remind me that you told me that I would regret the day that I let leo stark into my life.

Nancy: It’s all true, but that’s not why I’m here.

Craig: Oh, really? Then why are you here?

Nancy: To say I’m sorry.

[Dramatic music]

Gwen: If I try to explain it, it will just sound like I’m trying to justify what I did, and that’s not possible.

Jack: No, it’s not.

Gwen: Last night, I found myself sitting in a cell– the first night of many, many nights I’d be sitting in a cell. And… if I closed my eyes, I would see xander staring at me, disgusted. And I’d see you staring at me, repulsed. So I didn’t close my eyes again all night. I just tried to understand, how did I get here? How did I– how did I make it impossible for the only two people that I care about in the entire world– how did I make it so impossible for them to care about me? You are… probably the most forgiving person imaginable, and yet… you came here because you won’t, you… can’t give up on being a father to me.

[Sighs] Yet you can’t even look at me.

Jack: You’re the one not looking at me.

Gwen: You’re right. Last night, I thought about all the things I did to you… and to your family and to my sister and to… xander… and sarah and her mother, and… I realized I did all that to get what I wanted. But I have nothing I want, nothing.

[Sighs] And then… I sort of had this “come to jesus” moment where I realized that all those things I did, sort of like my mum putting the spike in her arm, when someone does something over and over and over again to ensure that they stay the same miserable human being. And, you know, I’ve been telling myself for months that kristen dimera blackmailed me into doing what I was doing, but really… she was just like my mother’s drug dealer. And just like my mum did… I put a spike in my own arm.

Sonny: [Laughs] I want you back? Okay, that’s like saying, “oh, gosh, oh, I wish my ibs would flare up again.”

Chad: That–you know, sonny, I don’t know. Maybe he’s onto something. People say there’s a fine line between love and hate.

Sonny: Yeah, idiotic people. You know what? I will never forget what you did to me, and I am ecstatic that I got to play a part in stopping you from doing it to anyone else.

Leo: What I have with craig is nothing like the dreary time I had with you. I love craig. I never even liked you. As you may recall, I was paid to go out with you. It was a job– one I did inadequately, I might add, because you’re not my type, and you’re a d-minus in bed.

Sonny: [Laughs] What?

Leo: The only reason you didn’t flunk is because I gave you extra credit for effort. He may have lacked finesse, but his enthusiasm was exhausting.

Sonny: Oh, that is a crock, and you know it.

Leo: I have it on tape.

Sonny: Yeah, I’ve seen those tapes, and you were very into it.

Leo: I was faking it.

Sonny: Okay, then what about the moaning?

Leo: Fake.

Sonny: The yelling?

Leo: Fake.

Sonny: The panting?

Leo: Fake.

Sonny: The screaming?

Leo: Fake. I faked it all. Sorry, babe.

Craig: You’re sorry. What do you have to be sorry for? You didn’t do anything, nancy.

Nancy: Craig, that’s not what I meant. I mean I’m sorry that this happened to you.

Craig: Really?

Nancy: Really. Look. I know what it’s like to love someone so much… that you ignore the abundant evidence that’s right in front of your eyes. It happened to me, and now it’s happened to my best friend.

Xander: Of all people, I should have been able to see through gwen’s lies.

Maggie: I’m not blaming you for what gwen did, but you did leave sarah behind the moment you found out that she wasn’t going to immediately recover.

Xander: [Sighs]

Maggie: I’m sorry. You know…

[Sighs] I’m not being fair.

Xander: No, I– I think you’re being fair and accurate.

Maggie: No, I gave you my blessing… even if I really didn’t mean it. I shouldn’t be taking out my anger at gwen on you. I know that you have every right to get on with your life. And anyway, this isn’t the time for recriminations. We need to figure out what we should do next. I mean, now that sarah wasn’t given the right antidote but some dose of the original drug… there’s a chance that that antidote might work.

Xander: You’re right.

Maggie: I’m gonna call kayla.

Xander: No, I already have. Kayla thinks there’s a good chance that the antidote can still work. I asked chad to reach out to rolf again.

Maggie: Well, that’s wonderful.

Xander: No, not really. Rolf managed to get himself into trouble with some chemistry experiment gone wrong. He’s in solitary confinement.

Maggie: Oh, we have gotta get ahold of that drug.

Xander: You know what? I have an idea.

Jack: When kristen blackmailed you, told you what she’d done to sarah, didn’t you see that you had to tell xander, tell maggie?

Gwen: If I told xander the truth, I knew I’d lose him. I knew that he loved sarah more than he loved me.

Jack: No, you didn’t know that. You feared that. What you should have known was that you were carrying all the risk. Didn’t you see back then what could have happened to you and ava if you’d been caught? Breaking a convicted prisoner out of prison carries a hefty minimum sentence.

Gwen: So does murder.

Jack: What are you talking about?

Jennifer: Abigail, you’re scaring me. Whatever it is, just tell me.

Abigail: It’s about grandma. Oh, god, it’s hard to even say it. This–gwen said to me– these are her exact words– “I killed that bitch on purpose.” My asthma felt anything but normal.

Leo: The only reason I had anything to do at all with you was money.

Sonny: Are you kidding? That’s the exact reason you went after craig.

Leo: In the beginning, maybe, but I fell in love with him. And now he hates me because of the two of you.

Chad: Does it ever occur to you to take responsibility for your own actions, leo? Craig hates you because you lied to him over and over again.

Sonny: Yeah. You know what? And you wouldn’t even be legally married to him even if we hadn’t done anything. You know, you could have just come clean with him, told him you had a husband.

Leo: Why do you care? It’s not like craig was your friend. You think you were doing him a favor? Now he’s just as miserable as I am.

Leo: Okay, trust me, leo, it’s not that hard to get over you.

Leo: That is not true. And deep down, craig knows that what we had is real, or I never would’ve signed that prenup. Oh, god, I hate that word. But I never would’ve signed it if all I cared about was taking him to the cleaners.

Chad: But what are you doing here? You’re trying to convince the wrong guys.

Leo: You’re right. But since you were so intent on making me pay, I want you both to know that now it’s my turn.

Craig: I still can’t believe leo has a husband.

Nancy: Oh, he does look good in a dress. Too soon? I’m sorry, he does. But out of that dress, he’s not as good-looking as you are. You are still quite a catch, craig wesley.

Craig: Thank you, sweetheart. Right back at you.

Jennifer: Gwen told you that she killed my mother on purpose?

Abigail: That’s right.

Jennifer: No, honey, she kept denying it. She–she insisted that it was an accident. Why would she change her story now?

Jack: Why are you talking about murder?

Gwen: Well–

Jack: Answer me. What did you mean, what you just said, “so does murder”?

Gwen: Just–I was just saying that like abigail pointed out, I planned to switch those syringes. It was premeditated. And for all I knew, that– a second dose of that drug could have very well killed sarah.

Jack: Thank god it didn’T.

Gwen: Even as it is, though, I did– I did take sarah’s life. The sarah that xander knew and fell in love with no longer exists. Go on. Say it.

Jack: You knew what that drug did to abigail, not to mention what it did to sarah when kristen gave it to her the first time.

Gwen: Yet I did it with full knowledge and malice aforethought. Now you wish I never existed.

Jack: No, I don’T.

Gwen: Yes, of course you do. How could you not? Xander does. Before, you said that I didn’t know that xander loved sarah more than he loved me, but he did. Yes, he told me he loved me. But then once sarah was in the picture, we both understood the unspoken.

Jack: [Sighs]

Gwen: Xander’s the only man that I’ve ever loved, but I’m not– I’m not the only woman that he ever loved. I’m not even the woman that he loved best. Do you know how that feels?

Jack: I do.

Gwen: Xander left me hanging for weeks, waiting to see if sarah would recover, and… this is no excuse, but I think, during those weeks… something inside me hardened. I just kept telling myself over and over and– and over again, “I cannot lose xander. I cannot.” But now it’s all my fault that he’s gone and I’ve lost him. And I don’t even know how I can live with myself.

[Door clicks open]

[Dramatic music]

Xander: Yeah. Trust me, this isn’t a romantic rendezvous.

Gwen: How could it be? Go on, then. Let me have it, both barrels.

Xander: Not here to let you have it or to hear any excuses. I just– I have a question. What did you do with the real antidote?

Gwen: Right. You want me to help you get sarah back.

Xander: I wanted to give you a chance to act like a human being.

Gwen: Why start now?

Jack: Don’t do this. What nobody–especially xander doesn’t need right now is a tired, pathetic tough-guy act.

Xander: It’s all right, jack. I don’t care how she acts. I just– I just want an answer. Do you know where it is? Did you pour it down the sink, throw it away?

Gwen: No. I still have it.

Xander: Great. So… what’s it gonna take to get you to tell me where it is?

Abigail: I’ve been wondering the same thing. I mean… you know, gwen kept denying that she killed grandma even when I was threatening to drug her out of her ever-loving mind if she didn’t admit it.

Jennifer: Right, but she never wavered.

Abigail: No, she didn’T. So either she was lying back then, or she’s lying now. And I don’t know. Maybe I shouldn’t have told you what she said at the wedding, because the fact of the matter is, I’m still not sure if it’s true.

Nancy: I have to admit that a couple weeks ago, the idea of you getting dumped at the altar, well, it would’ve made me the happiest woman in the world. I would’ve said you got what you deserved.

Craig: Yeah, I suppose I did.

Nancy: No, no, craig, you’re a good man who just made mistakes. You’ve gone through a lot to get where you are today, and… sweetheart, you deserve to be happy.

Craig: So do you, nancy.

[Chuckles] You know, last night is really quite a blur to me, but I–

[Laughs] I think I remember you saying something about having met someone and going out on a date.

Nancy: Oh, yeah. We were supposed to go out for dinner last night, but he blew me off.

Craig: I’m sorry.

Nancy: [Sighs] Ain’t we a pair?

Craig: [Laughs]

Chad: Don’t be so melodramatic.

Leo: Melodramatic? I am your worst nightmare. You will rue the day you screwed matthew cooper, aka leo stark.

Chad: [Laughs] This is me struggling to keep a straight face.

Sonny: The hell was that? We women are in the know about everything.

Jennifer: I understand her saying it was an accident, lying about that because she was trying to protect herself. But I don’t understand why she would lie about saying it was deliberate. It doesn’t make any sense.

Abigail: I don’t know. I don’t know, but it was the way that she said it, the words that she chose. So I don’t know, maybe after what I did to her at the wedding, she was just trying to torment me all over again or something.

Jennifer: Well, there’s only one way to find out.

Jack: Gwen, you just spent the last half hour telling me how much you love xander. Now look at him. He’s miserable. He’s suffering. For god’s sake, just tell him where the antidote is.

Gwen: You know, I was just thinking–

Jack: There’s nothing to think about. You have the chance to maybe, maybe undo the harm that you have done. For god’s sake, just tell him.

Gwen: I was just thinking that’s interesting, how you put that. It’s really interesting, ’cause you said, “what’s it gonna take to get you to tell me where it is?” It’s like it didn’t even occur to you to just ask me for it, because telling you would’ve been the right thing to do, yeah? But you know me well enough by now… to know that I don’t do anything unless there’s something in it for me. You don’t think there’s one good bone in my body, do you? You know, you’re right. There isn’T. So what’s it gonna take? Well, I know what I want. I want you back. Deal?

Xander: No.

Gwen: God, you hate me.

Xander: Yeah, that’s right.

Gwen: [Sighs] You hate me so much, you can’t even– you can’t even bloody lie to protect your precious sarah.

Jack: No, no, no. Don’t–gwen, please, don’t put the spike back in your arm.

Gwen: Well, sorry to put you through that, darling. Just needed to know where we stand.

Jack: God, no. No.

Gwen: You know, I will say, though, through all the lies… I did stay true to one thing. I did, I still, and I will always love you.

Sonny: [Laughs mockingly]

Chad: Wasn’t piaf. It was louis xv. “After me, the deluge.”

Sonny: Oh, come on, look, he probably just spent all morning googling threats in french and then he found that. He’s been practicing it all morning, I’m sure. Oh.

Chad: What?

Sonny: Well, as far as threats go, it’s actually a pretty good one. A nihilistic expression of indifference forecasting ruination.

Chad: Oh, that’s great. That’s just what I need.

Sonny: What? You’re not worried, are you? Come on, he’s not the king of france. He’s leo.

Chad: Yeah, exactly. He’s leo, self-aggrandizing, petty, vindictive little drama queen.

Sonny: Okay, that’s actually a pretty good point.

Chad: And now that vindictive little drama queen is laser focused on me. I thought the whole point of bringing him down was to– was to get him out of our lives so we didn’t have to worry about him anymore.

Sonny: Okay, maybe I didn’t think this whole thing through.

Chad: God only knows what he’s gonna do next.

[Tablet beeps]

Sonny: I’m sorry, do you have this thing set to news alerts for news about you?

Chad: Yeah, it’s a work thing.

Sonny: But you’re not working. Okay, well, there is news, and it is about you.

Craig: [Sighs]

Nancy: So what are you gonna do next?

Craig: Oh, nancy, I have absolutely no idea.

Nancy: Been there, done that. Craig, let me ask you… are you absolutely sure that it’s over between you and leo?

Craig: Am I sure? Nancy, the guy– the guy was gonna swindle me out of everything I own. He wanted to marry me. He was already married to someone else.

Nancy: Yes, but, craig, he is the guy who, after 30-plus years, brought you out of the closet. Honey, that was life-changing for you.

Craig: Are you– are you sticking up for him?

Nancy: No. I’m thinking about you. Craig… he really got to you.

Jack: You did the right thing.

Gwen: I know. Do you think it will work? Do you think sarah will be sarah again?

Jack: I don’t know. We’ll have to wait and see.

Gwen: I hope it does work. Truly, I really do. Again, I don’t expect you to believe me when I say this, but I am sorry for what I did to sarah.

Steve: You know, I was thinking, maybe we should take a trip. Just the two of us. Somewhere romantic. Maybe we can go big sur, camp out under the stars, do some hiking.

Kayla: Yeah, for sure.

Steve: Or maybe we could go to siberia. In january. Where it’s 20 below zero every single day. You’ve always wanted to go to siberia.

Kayla: I know. Whatever you want. It’s fine.

Steve: All right. I’ll book the flights right away.

Kayla: Book the flights? What are you talking about?

Steve: Nothing, baby. And I understand why you’re not listening. You’re thinking about your job. Missing it.

Kayla: Yeah, I miss it. And I’m angry. [Scoffing laugh] The board wanted me to fire marlena and I refused, so they hire craig so that he will fire marlena. He refuses. So he still has his job, marlena still has her job, and I am still fired.

Steve: That about sums it up.

Kayla: You know, maybe i should’ve done it. Maybe i should’ve fired marlena.

[Phone rings]

[Phone beeps]

Marlena: Hi, belle. I’ve been worried about you. Are you and shawn working things out? Johnny was what?

Johnny: Chanel.

Chanel: Oh, look who it is. Aren’t you supposed to be in italy?

Johnny: No, I never went to italy.

Chanel: Oh, of course you lied because that’s what you do. Thank you for everything, but I–I gotta go.

Johnny: Chanel, wait. I need to talk to you.

Chanel: Why would I want to hear anything out of your hateful, lying mouth? You said enough on the phone the other night.

Johnny: No, no, I didn’T.

Chanel: You didn’t what?

Johnny: It wasn’t me on the phone. That wasn’t me.

Chanel: Okay, then who the hell was it?

Ej: It was satan.

Chanel: Satan? Really? Oh, come on. I get it. This is a stupid idea for your dumb movie. You know, the one that you bailed on the way you bail on everything else.

Ej: It’s the truth, chanel. My son hasn’t been himself for quite some time. He was possessed by the devil.

Chanel: Do you really expect me to believe that?

[Johnny thuds]

Rafe: So you’re saying that evan is working with allie, who is possessed by the devil?

Jake: Yeah. You know, she’s the one who knocked me out. She packed a helluva wallop, and I’ve felt that wallop before.

Ben: Rafe, I know this sounds crazy, man. But it’s the truth. After allie drugged me with that tea, she admitted it. She told me she was the devil, that the devil was after my child. And the next thing i knew, I was shackled up in the dimera crypt with johnny, and johnny confirmed what allie said.

Rafe: Okay. So if what you’re saying is true–

Ben: Then allie kidnapped ciara.

Allie: Ciara, I know you’re upset and you want to be with ben, but we can’t go back to your apartment, okay? Not with this evan guy on the loose.

Ciara: What if they caught him? Let’s call rafe. If they caught him, then we can go back.

Allie: If that’s the only way to convince you that you need to go to the cabin.

[Phone beeps and line trills]

Rafe: Hernandez.

Allie: Rafe, it’s allie.

Rafe: I’m glad you checked in. Are you at the cabin?

Allie: Almost, but ciara wanted me to call you and see if the cops have caught evan.

Rafe: Not yet.

Ciara: Rafe, I wanna go home.

Rafe: This is not an option, ciara. Do you hear me? Evan is out there. He’s dangerous, and he’s after you. So you and allie need to get to that cabin now.

Ciara: What about ben?

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

Tripp: We just need to get some fluids in you. You were seriously dehydrated.

[Monitor beeping] Okay, that should do it. I’ll come check in on you later.

[Monitor beeping]

Ej: You look better already.

Johnny: [Sighs]

Ej: Johnny, um, I just want you to know that–

[Monitor beeping]

Johnny: Dad, can chanel and i just have a moment alone? Please?

Ej: I’ll be right outside.

[Monitor beeping] Chanel.

Chanel: So… how are you feeling?

Johnny: Oh, like the world is an even scarier place than I ever thought.

Chanel: Yeah. I kind of feel that way, too, but I meant like, how are you physically? Are you okay?

Johnny: Eh, not too bad. Just got a–[Groans] Splitting headache, but, uh–

Chanel: So all that stuff that your dad said about you being possessed, is that really true?

Ben: My god, ciara and my baby are in legitimate danger from damn devil right now! We have to find her!

Rafe: We will, ben. We will, all right?

Ben: When evan was here, did he say anything at all about allie?

Jake: Oh, man. I’m sorry. I wish I could remember more. All I remember is when i recognized evan, that’s when i was knocked out from behind. Apparently, by allie. When I came to, evan was gone and rafe was here.

Ben: [Sighs] Jake, you are my only hope right now, brother, okay? I know you were knocked out cold when this happened, but when you started to come to, you must’ve overheard something, right?

Jake: Yeah. I mean, there may have been other voices, but who they were and what they were saying, I–I can’t remember.

Ben: Or maybe there’s a way for us to figure out how. A way for you to remember what those were. Not too long ago, dr. Evans, she hypnotized me. She helped me recover memories. Maybe she can do the same thing with you. You said you overheard some voices, right?

Jake: Yeah.

Jake: Well, then you probably know what the voices were. You just have them trapped in your subconscious. Rafe, what do you think?

Rafe: Anything that can help us find allie and ciara is worth a shot. Ubrelvy helps u fight migraine attacks.

Steve: You should have fired marlena? Come on, sweetness. You don’t mean that.

Kayla: Of course I don’t mean it. I mean, the whole reason i refused to fire her is because, well, I mean, not only is she a great friend, but she’s an esteemed psychiatrist. She’s did not deserve that. I mean, really, it would’ve been a travesty.

Steve: But you didn’t deserve to be fired, either.

Kayla: No, I didn’t deserve it. I did the right thing and I’m being punished for it.

Steve: That’s right, sweetness. It’s unfair. It’s outrageous.

Kayla: Yeah.

Steve: ‘Cause not only are you a highly-respected physician, but you’ve made a big contribution to that hospital as chief of staff.

Kayla: Oh, I thought so. I hope so.

Steve: You did. I wish to hell there was something I could do about it. I go down there and talk to those idiots about the stupid decision they made.

Kayla: Well, I appreciate your willingness to do that, but I don’t see what the point would be because it wouldn’t make a difference.

Steve: [Softly] Yeah. Hey, what are we doing here? Come on. We came out to have some fun tonight, didn’t we? Huh?

Kayla: Mm, yeah.

Steve: What do you say we throw some darts?

Kayla: I don’t wanna throw darts. I just wanna sit here and wallow.

Steve: Ah, I can see that. But how about this? If you get a bull’s eye…

Kayla: Mm-hmm?

Steve: I will paint the master bathroom like you’ve been asking me to do.

Kayla: I have to win the contest for you do a simple, little family project?

Steve: You want the bathroom painted, or don’t you?

Kayla: Okay. Get the darts.

Chanel: So you were possessed since christmas?

Johnny: Yeah, pretty much. You remember how on new year’s eve, I wasn’t feeling that great?

Chanel: We had just got back from italy and you thought it was the flu or jet lag.

Johnny: Yeah, well… turns out it was none of the above. It was the devil taking control of my body.

Chanel: When allie and tripp came by, you said that you were feeling better. And then the four of us were gonna bring in the new year together. But you went upstairs and you missed the whole thing. And I had to go up to get you.

Johnny: Yeah. Yeah, it was weird. I just–I was getting ready. And then…

Chanel: And then what?

Johnny: I don’t know. That’s the last thing I remember.

Chanel: What about our wedding reception? When you announced in front of everybody that you wanted to divorce me and you totally humiliated me and you enjoyed it? Do you remember that?

Johnny: Oh, chanel. That wasn’t me. It never was.

Chanel: So all that stuff about not loving me anymore, about you saying in front of all of my friends and family, that marrying me was just a terrible mistake. You don’t remember that either?

Johnny: None of it. None of it, chanel. You believe me, don’t you?

Chanel: It’s hard to unhear the things you said to me that night, johnny. I had never been so hurt in my whole, entire life, so embarrassed, so angry.

Johnny: You had every right to be. But like I said, that wasn’t me, chanel. The only thing I remember about you and me being together was that you made me feel more loved than anyone else ever has. You made me laugh. You made me want to be a better person. Chanel, you are everything I ever wanted. So believe me when I say there is no way in hell I would’ve ever asked you for a divorce because I never for one second stopped loving you. I still haven’T.

Chanel: [Sobs softly]

Tripp: You’re serious? You’re telling me that allie is possessed and no one knows where she is?

Ej: I’m afraid so.

Tripp: Oh, my god.

Ej: I’m sorry to burden you with all this. I know it’s a lot to take in.

Tripp: Yeah, it is.

Ej: And now, I need to speak with marlena and inform her about what’s happening with her granddaughter.

Tripp: Right.

Ej: I just hope that she can help us track down allie.

Marlena: Oh, belle. Okay, honey. Thank you for letting me know. And just… just hang in there. I love you, too. I’ll see you at home. Bye.

[Exhales deeply]

[Door opens loudly]

Ej: Marlena, I have to speak with you. It’s urgent.

Marlena: Yes, I know. I just spoke with belle. She told me that she wasn’t the one who was possessed, that it was actually johnny. And now, dear god, it’s allie.

Ej: And no one knows where she is. We need to find her, marlena, and we need to tell samantha right now. My asthma felt anything but normal.

Chanel: You were so cruel that night. You broke my heart, johnny.

Johnny: I’m so sorry.

Chanel: I was so in love with you, so happy to be your wife and–and there we were at what was supposed to be a celebration of our marriage and you treated me like I was nothing to you. Like getting involved with me was just some terrible mistake. And I just remember when I left, I just kept hoping that it was just some nightmare, but no. No, it wasn’T. And if it hadn’t been for allie, I–

Johnny: It’s all right.

[Sniffles] I know you slept with her.

Chanel: You do?

Johnny: Yeah.

Chanel: I–I didn’t know where to turn, I didn’t know what to do. I was in so much pain and I felt like there was something wrong with me. And–and allie was there… to comfort me and to make me feel like it wasn’t my fault, that I was worthy of love.

Johnny: That’s all right. I get it. You don’t have to explain to me what you did with allie. Or tripp.

Chanel: Wait, tripp?

Kayla: Oh, honey, do you see that? Bull’s-eye! Bull’s-eye first try.

Steve: Ah, I saw that, yeah.

Kayla: Tripp, tripp you just missed it. I just destroyed your father in darts.

Steve: Oh, no that was just one throw.

Kayla: No, no, no. A win is a win.

Steve: The game is not over yet.

Kayla: Feels over to me. How about you? You wanna give it a shot with me?

Tripp: I’m not really in the mood right now. I’m sorry.

Kayla: Oh.

Steve: What’s the matter? What’s the matter?

Tripp: I’m just a little sad and worried and kind of freaked out to be honest, but never mind. I didn’t mean to ruin your night.

Kayla: No, no, tripp. You’re not ruining our night. What is it? Just talk to us. Is it allie? Are you still upset about what happened to her?

Tripp: That, too, I guess.

Steve: That too? What else happened?

Rafe: Ciara, there’s nothing you can do for ben.

Ciara: He needs me, rafe. I should be with him right now.

Rafe: I know you’re upset, but again, evan is dangerous. He wants revenge on you and your baby. So until we find him, you need to put your baby first.

Ciara: Rafe–

Rafe: It’s what ben would want. You know that. So you need to protect his child. You need to let allie take you to the cabin. Will you do that?

Allie: Rafe is right. If anything happened to you or to the baby–

Ciara: [Sighs softly] Okay, fine. For ben and for our son.

Rafe: Good girl. I know how hard this is, but it really is for the best. Like I said, I’ll send some uniforms to the cabin. Allie?

Allie: Yes?

Rafe: Thanks again for doing this, taking care of ciara.

Allie: I just wanna make sure that the baby and ciara are all right.

Rafe: Be safe.

Allie: We will.

[Phone beeps]

[Allie sighs] So what do you think?

Ciara: Okay, fine. Let’s go to the cabin.

[Ominous music]

Marlena: Sami, it’s important that I talk to you. Please, call me the moment you get this. Thanks.

Ej: [Sighs] I was certain she’d pick up.

Marlena: I’m afraid not, but wherever she and lucas have gone, they’ve got terrible cell reception.

Ej: Maybe we should get the police involved.

Marlena: You know, no. Not till I talk to john.

[Knock at door]

Ben: Dr. Evans, ej.

Ej: We were just talking about allie’s possession.

Ben: Allie’s not just possessed, we think it’s possible she may have kidnapped ciara.

Marlena: What? Kidnapped her?

Ben: The devil is still after our baby, dr. Evans.

Marlena: Oh, of course. He’d never give up. But you know what? We’re not giving up, either. Not until ciara and the baby are safe. Now, do you have any idea where allie might have taken ciara?

Ben: That’s where you come in.

Chanel: You know about me and tripp?

Johnny: Uh, I know that you guys got drunk together, that you were kissing at a bar. That you headed back to your place. Yeah.

Chanel: Yeah, yeah, that’s all true. But nothing happened.

Johnny: Really?

Chanel: Yeah. My mom, she said that we were “four sheets to the wind.”

[Both chuckle] And she knew that we were doing it for the wrong reason, so she basically refused to let us go to my room and she called tripp a cab and sent him home.

Johnny: Oh. I knew I liked paulina.

[Both chuckle]

Kayla: So now allie’s possessed?

Steve: Son, are you sure all this is true?

Tripp: Yeah. Ej just told me. Apparently, allie’s vanished. No one knows where she went.

Kayla: Marlena must be going out of her mind. She does know, right?

Tripp: Yeah. Ej was on his way to see her. And hopefully, they’ll find her allie and give her the help that she needs.

Steve: I think they’ll be able to. If marlena’s family was able to drive the devil out of her, I bet they’re gonna be able to help allie. You know what? There might just be a silver lining in all this.

Rafe: Okay, keep me posted. Yeah, and if your men do find allie, make sure they proceed with extreme caution. Okay.

Ej: Any word?

Rafe: No, nothing yet. We ran allie’s plates, but no one’s seen her.

Ej: Damn it. No leads at all?

Rafe: Well, jake may have witnessed something. He thinks he might have seen allie take ciara, so ben and I took him over to marlena’s to see if she can get him to remember some more.

Ej: I just left them in her office. She’s hypnotizing jake about the incident as we speak.

Marlena: I want you to understand that you’re perfectly safe in my office. No harm will come to you here. Do you understand?

Jake: I understand.

Marlena: Okay. I wanna go back a couple hours. You were at ben and ciara’s apartment waiting for ciara to come back. What happened?

Jake: There was a knock at the door.

Marlena: And did you answer it?

Jake: I did. The guy, evan, he had just escaped from prison. I asked him how he did it. He said that… that a new friend helped him.

Marlena: Did he give you the friend’s name?

Jake: I asked, but that’s when I was clobbered from behind.

Marlena: Okay. What is the next thing you remember?

Jake: I came to. Rafe was there.

Marlena: Good. Okay. I wanna move past your conscious memories into your subconscious, okay? About the time you were hit– tell me about that.

Jake: Like I said, I didn’t see who it was.

Marlena: That’s all right. You’re doing fine. I want you to block out all your other senses and just tell me what you hear.

Allie: Well, he wasn’t part of the plan, but since he’s here, he may as well make himself useful.

Jake: I hear a voice.

Marlena: You know who it was?

Jake: I do. It’s allie. It’s definitely allie.

Marlena: What is she saying?

Jake: I can’t understand.

Marlena: Okay. That’s all right. Was there any other voices you could hear?

Jake: There are, but they’re muffled. I can’t make out what they’re saying.

Ben: What about ciara? Was she there?

Marlena: Jake, I need you to focus. Can you hear ciara’s voice? Looking to get back in your type 2 diabetes zone?

Kayla: Silver lining? About being possessed? I mean, how can you even say that?

Steve: Okay, okay, maybe that didn’t come out quite right. All I meant was that if allie is really possessed by the devil, that means that she wasn’t in control of her faculties when she cheated on you.

Tripp: Are you saying the devil made her do it?

Steve: Yeah. So doesn’t that give you some comfort about your relationship?

Tripp: Actually, no. No, as much as I wish I could blame what happened between chanel and allie on devil, that was all allie.

Steve: How can you be sure?

Tripp: Because the night they slept together was the night johnny dumped chanel. Allie couldn’t have been possessed enth.

Kayla: Why not?

Tripp: Because johnny was.

Ej: Johnny is in there with chanel.

Rafe: Okay. Yeah, ben said that allie had him chained up in the dimera crypt. Things got a little crazy, huh? Andre showing up.

Ej: Um, my mother, bless her, alerted belle and me to the fact that johnny was possessed, that he wasn’t in italy. When she suggested that johnny was being held in the crypt, I just went to appease her. When we walked in and i saw andre choking the life out of johnny– if it hadn’t been for my mother, I would’ve lost my son tonight.

Rafe: I’m sorry, man. I’m really sorry. Well, thank god she did say something to you.

Ej: Yes, yes. Thank god for that. But what kind of father, what kind of person am I? For all these months, my son was in trouble, in a fight for his soul. And I had no idea.

Chanel: Yeah, tripp and i realized my mama was right, that sleeping together would’ve been stupid. And we were bonding as friends, so the next day, we were just happy that we could still be friends.

Johnny: I’m happy too.

[Both chuckle] I gotta say, when I saw you guys leave that bar, I kind of assumed the worst.

Chanel: How do you even know about that? Have you been following me?

Johnny: No. No, I would never do that. The devil showed me.

Chanel: What? What do you mean, the devil showed you? I don’t even know what that means. What?

Johnny: He chained me up in the dimera crypt and he did what he does best. He tortured me. He showed me a movie of you and tripp getting drunk, making out, leaving together. It just about drove me next level crazy.

Chanel: But you weren’t possessed in the crypt, right?

Johnny: Right.

Chanel: Okay, so how did the devil torture you and chain you up? Wouldn’t he need someone’s body to do that? If your moderate to severe crohn’s disease

Steve: Hold on now. Johnny was possessed?

Kayla: Well, you know, that would explain his strange behavior. I mean, breaking chanel’s heart, humiliating her the way he did, and then taking off to italy.

Tripp: And it turns out he never left. That was all a lie.

Kayla: What?

Steve: Where was he all this time?

Tripp: Seems that allie, aka the devil, had johnny chained up dimera crypt.

Steve: That’s where marlena kept john and susan when she was possessed.

Tripp: Ej just found him tonight.

Kayla: Is he all right?

Tripp: He brought him up to the hospital and I checked him over and he’s shaken up and weak, but he’s gonna be okay.

Rafe: Well, don’t be too hard on yourself, ej. You had no way to know what was really going on with johnny. None of us did.

Ej: I’m his father, rafe. I’m supposed to know. All those months, I saw the change in him. He was doing things so out of character for him, and not once did I think to ask what caused it. Not once.

Rafe: Maybe you didn’t notice because those things, those changes, they were happening gradually.

Ej: No, no. There was nothing gradual about it. At that so-called wedding reception, where he discarded his wife so unceremoniously, that was terribly sudden and extreme, obviously. And how did I react? I’m embarrassed to say that… I was oddly proud of him. Everyone, everyone was horrified by his behavior and yet i defended him. I thought he’d finally come to his senses, that he realized that chanel wasn’t a suitable partner for him. I was relieved that he finally accepted that dimera was his legacy, his birthright.

Rafe: Well, you dimeras have a certain code that I will never fully understand.

Ej: Code that johnny didn’t accept. For all those years that my son and I didn’t get along… I assumed it was because he looked to you as a role model more than he ever did to me.

Rafe: Well, it makes you feel any better, johnny was always his own man, even when he was a kid.

Ej: Mm. He was indeed. But I thought he finally grew into the heir I had always imagined. And now finding out that those qualities I thought he inherited from me were actually satan’s? And what does that say about me? That I was finally proud of my son when he wasn’t himself at all?

Marlena: Jake, can you hear ciara?

Ciara: Ben, wake up! Baby, please wake up! Baby, it’s me.

Jake: That’s her. I hear ciara.

Marlena: And what is she saying?

Jake: She’s–she’s upset. Crying. She’s yelling at ben to wake up.

Marlena: What then?

Jake: I don’t know.

Marlena: Jake, I want you to use all your senses now. Can you see anything? Can you feel anything?

Jake: I feel… a hand on my wrist.

Allie: I’m sorry, ciara, but ben’s gone.

Jake: It’s allie. She’S… she’s saying that ben’s gone.

[Groans] My head’s killing me.

Marlena: Okay. We’re almost done here. I’m gonna count to three. When I do, you’ll be wide awake. You’ll be relaxed and remember everything we talked about. One, two, three. Open your eyes. All right, how do you feel?

Jake: Kinda headache-Y.

Marlena: Oh, you may have had a slight concussion. We’ll get that checked out in the er.

Jake: Sorry, man. Sorry I don’t know where allie and ciara went.

Ben: It’s okay. At least we know now that they were together. But what I don’t get is that I wasn’t at the apartment, so why would she be yelling at me to wake up?

Allie: Home sweet home.

Ciara: I haven’t been here in years.

Allie: It’s been a while for me, too.

Ciara: My parents used to always bring me here as a kid. My dad would always go fishing and my mom would always make fun of him for not being able to catch anything. My dad is gone. I know ben is gone too.

Allie: Ciara, you’ve been through hell. How about you splash your face with water? You’ll feel better.

Ciara: [Scoffs] Feel better? Really? Allie, my husband is dead. I’m never gonna feel better again. Not without ben.

Allie: You need to think of your baby now. And ben would want you to do whatever you need to do to make sure this little guy comes into the world safe and sound, right?

[Light tense music]

Demon allie: Now with daddy out of the way, this will be the perfect place for my baby to be born. No matter who you are,

Steve: First, johnny what’s possessed and now allie?

Kayla: When does this end?

Steve: Son, this is a lot for you to take in. Let us get you home, okay?

Tripp: No. No, it’s okay. I’m just gonna go back to work, but thank you both for always being there.

Kayla: Of course. We’ll see you soon, all right? Love you, tripp.

Tripp: Love you guys too.

Steve: Buddy, hang in there. Okay?

Ej: If I were in a better mood, I’d appreciate the irony of all this. Me crying on your shoulder for comfort.

Rafe: Listen, we both care about johnny. And all that matters is that he’s gonna be okay, right? And besides, you still have a chance to do things differently.

Ej: All the time I’ve lost. I– you’re right. We have johnny back and that’s the best news.

Rafe: That’s right.

Ej: Mm-hmm.

Rafe: Listen, I gotta check in with the station, see if there’s any news on allie and ciara, okay?

Ej: Let me know if I can be of any help.

Rafe: I will.

Chanel: I don’t get it. There was no exorcism, right?

Johnny: No.

Chanel: Okay, so why did the devil leave your body? And where did he go when he did? What? What aren’t you telling me?

Ben: Why would ciara be calling out to me if I wasn’t in the room? Why would she be crying? Jake, is there anything else that you remember?

Jake: It’s just that it seems like ciara and allie were really close to me. Like ciara was next to my face talking to me.

Ben: But you said she was calling you by my name. Why would she be calling you ben?

Marlena: And you said that you felt a hand on your wrist.

Jake: Yeah, yeah. It’s allie’S. It’s like she was taking my pulse. Oh, damn!

Marlena: What? What is it?

Jake: We know that devil can change forms, right?

Marlena: Yes.

Jake: Like when johnny was possessed, the devil made johnny look like me. But can the devil change other people’s forms too?

Marlena: Yes. In fact, he made tripp look like jan and he turned susan… he turned susan into a cat.

Jake: [Sighs] Then that’s it.

Ben: What?

Jake: Allie made me look like you. That’s why she was taking my pulse. That’s why ciara was crying.

Ben: Oh, my god. Ciara thinks I’m dead.

Allie: So feeling better?

Ciara: I wanna use your phone.

Allie: Why?

Ciara: Because I wanna call my mom.

Allie: Ciara, I don’t think that’s a good idea.

Ciara: Allie, I don’t care. I wanna call my mom. I need to hear my mom’s voice.

Allie: Of course you do. Whatever helps you through this. Oh, no. No, it says that there’s no service here. I’m afraid it’s just you and me.
