Tr: You have been running that woman hot and cold for the last few months. First, you don’t want to have anything to do with her. And now, you show up and expect her to drop everything to see you. Just what is so important you need to tell paulina right this very moment?
Abe: Well, not that it’s any of your damn business, but I’m here to tell the woman I love I want her back.

Shawn: Half the department’s out there searching. They still don’t have a clue where allie took my sister.
Rafe: Actually, I think I know where they are.

Tr: All of a sudden, you in love with paulina. You want her back.
Abe: You’re damn right, I do. Now, you gonna let me in?
Tr: What part of “paulina doesn’t have time for your games” do you not get?
Abe: Paulina can decide for herself if she wants to see me.
Tr: She already has decided.
Abe: Excuse me?
Tr: We are giving it another go.
Abe: What?
Tr: You heard me. We are back together. Matter of fact, I’m fittin’ to take my woman out of town for a romantic getaway.
Abe: Your woman?

Abe: There’s no way that paulina would go away with the likes of you, especially with her son-in-law in a coma.
Tr: Eli’s awake? Eli is my son-in-law, as in mine and paulina’S.
Abe: You really want to get into this?
Tr: This? You mean me being lani’s real father?
Abe: I’m lani’s father in every way that matters.
Tr: Well, not every way. I was cut out of her life for a lot of years. But I plan on getting my family back together, starting this weekend.
Abe: This proves how little you know about family, that you would take paulina away at a time like this.
Tr: You know what, brother? You starting to wear on my nerves.
Abe: I’m sorry to hear that. But I’m not leaving, brother.
Tr: Yeah? Well, we are. A weekend away from salem, away from all the stress– not to mention your judgment– is just what paulina needs. Besides, it’s not like eli’s waking up anytime soon.
Lani: [Sighs] Baby, I–I think you– you may be confused.
Eli: I’m not confused. Lani, I remember everything about that night.
Lani: Okay, well, what do you remember?
Eli: I was interviewing tr’s ex, beth, at the station. An–and I went to, um– I went to the park. Ray was there, and he reached for my gun. Lani, he shot me. That son of a bitch shot me in cold blood.
Lani: But why? Why–why would he do that? He wants to be a part of my life, a part of our kids’ lives. Why would he risk all of that, eli, by shooting my husband?
Eli: Because I found out the truth about him.
Lani: What truth?
Shawn: Susan banks believes that ciara gave birth at the horton cabin?
Rafe: Yeah, and susan’s been right more times than not about this devil stuff.
Shawn: That’s true. So that’s where we need to go. We need to go to the horton cabin.
Rafe: Okay, hold on. Now, if we are going to smith island, we are not going alone. ‘Cause if the devil is there, we’re gonna need backup.
Shawn: You make the call. I’m driving.
Ben: Tell me what happened. What did allie do?
Ciara: I told you, it wasn’t allie, ben. She’s possessed.
Ben: I know that. She drugged me and locked me up, and she tried to kill me.
Ciara: Oh, my god. She wanted me to believe that you were dead so that I would be here, alone, grieving and isolated, and so that she would be the only one here when the baby was born.
Ben: I’m sorry. I’m sorry I wasn’t here with you.
Ciara: The devil fooled me, babe. I mean, he even tried to convince me that rafe wanted us to go to the cabin. And I knew it. I knew something was wrong. I knew something was off, I–
Ben: Don’t blame yourself. How could you have known that?
Ciara: I did know! Ben, that’s the thing. I knew it in my heart. I knew it.
Ben: Look, allie was very supportive of us the entire pregnancy. She was good to you. She was helping you. She tried to take care of you.
Ciara: Only she wasn’t helping us. Ben, the devil was getting ready to take our baby. And now he has him.
Ben: Why? What does that demon want with our son?
Evan: Oh, hey. It’s you. You said I could lie low here. I hope that’s still cool.
Demon allie: Totally. Evan, I want you to meet my little friend.

Ciara: I didn’t know who she really was, not until after bo was born.
Ben: And then she showed you.
Ciara: Oh, my god. Oh, my god, ben, it was horrible. She was standing there with bo in her arms, and I asked her to give him to me, and she wouldn’T. She wouldn’t give me my son, and then she turned at me with those eyes. I saw her eyes, ben. I saw her eyes, and I knew exactly who I was looking at.
Ben: You never got to hold our son?
Ciara: Mm-mm. The devil took that away from me. Ben, what if I never get to hold our son?
Evan: What the–
Demon allie: Ah, ah, ah. Don’t throw that word around willy-nilly.
Evan: What is going on? Who is that baby?
Demon allie: Why do you look so alarmed? Never see a proud parent before?
Evan: Not one with glowing eyes and a creepy-as-hell voice.
Demon allie: There you go again, just talking about you-know-where.
Evan: What is this? Who are you?
Demon allie: I think, if you search your soul, you’ll find you already know the answer to that. I tried to tell you at the prison, but you were just so focused on getting out. People call me all kinds of names, but you probably know me as the devil incarnate.
[Dramatic music]
Lani: What could you have possibly found out that would make tr want to kill you?
Eli: I caught him in the park with drugs. He had drugs on him, lani–heroin.
Lani: No. No, that can’t be. He–he told me that he was clean. He promised me and paulina that he hasn’t been using since he went to prison years ago.
Eli: I know that’s what he told you. It’s all an act. Lani, he’s still using. And he’s still abusing women.
Lani: Beth said that he has never laid a hand on her and that he’s been the perfect gentleman. She told me herself.
Eli: She told me a different story at the station.
Lani: Well, what exactly did she say?
Eli: She said that tr– that he was using the entire relationship and he was abusing her. Lani, I’m sorry. But that’s why I went to the park looking for him.
Lani: Beth came to see me at the hospital. She said she had something to say, but then tr came in, and she left.
Eli: Probably because tr got to her first. I’m sure she wanted to tell you the truth.
Lani: I should have known. Oh, my–I should have known that she was lying. I should have recognized that he had threatened her, and–and–
[Sighs] I wanted so badly to believe that– that he was a good man, that he had pulled his life together.
Eli: Baby, I’m sorry. But your father is the same woman-beating addict that brutalized paulina all those years ago.

Abe: I am not leaving until I see paulina.

[Cell phone rings]

Eli: He’s obviously good at fooling people. He convinced paulina, and she saw him at his worst.
Lani: He didn’t fool you.
Eli: I just followed a hunch.
Lani: And it almost cost you your life. That bastard shot you with your own gun and left you to die in a park.
Eli: I survived, baby. I’m still here.
Lani: Yeah, no thanks to him.
[Chuckles] My so-called father would’ve left me a widow, would’ve taken away his grandchildren’s father, just to hide his dirty little secrets.
Eli: We’ll deal with him.
Lani: Yeah. You are damn right, I am going to deal with him.
Eli: Lani, no. I do not want you confronting that man alone. He’s dangerous when he’s cornered.
Lani: He needs to be cornered in a prison cell.
Eli: Yeah, and he will be. Call this in to rafe. Let the rest of the department deal with it. Do you know where tr is?

[Elevator bell dings] P-p-paulina?

Lani: [Sighs] He’s with my mother.

Paulina: I’ll be right out! Oh. It’s just you?
Tr: Who else would it be?
Paulina: Well, I… I thought I heard voices.
Tr: Oh, uh, that was a religious group. They were handing out pamphlets, “praise god.”
[Laughs] I guess… they were trying to save our immortal souls.
Evan: You’re… the devil?
Demon allie: In the flesh. Do you like this body?
Evan: The devil. Satan? Lucifer? Beelzebub?
Demon allie: Never was a fan of that last one.
Evan: I can’t believe this.
Demon allie: I mean, surely you knew I was back in town for my silver anniversary. I know you were in prison, but I’m kind of a big deal around these parts.
Evan: My father did tell me about marlena evans being possessed, but all the news reports said that there was an exorcism. They called it the christmas miracle.
Demon allie: Well, you really shouldn’t believe everything you read online. The internet is a hellhole of misinformation.
Evan: So… at the exorcism, you jumped out of dr. Evans’ body and into this random girl’s body?
Demon allie: This “random girl” happens to be marlena’s pastry-baking, bisexual granddaughter, allie horton.
Evan: You went into her granddaughter?
Demon allie: Not right away. After that nitwit father eric banished me from marlena, I actually went into her grandson, johnny. Then there was a brief pit stop in her nosy little daughter, belle, until I landed on my current host.
Evan: You trying to spend time with marlena’s whole family?
Demon allie: Let’s just say the sins of the matriarch have befallen her progeny.
Ciara: Allie… when allie was holding bo, I thought I saw her struggling. I thought for one second she might be able to push him out.
Ben: Well, that’s a good sign. That means allie–someone’s still in there. And she’s not gonna let the devil hurt bo.
Ciara: Ben, she’s not gonna be able to resist him. He’s way too strong.
Ben: Whoa, easy, easy. You just had a baby.
Ciara: Yeah, so?
Ben: So you are in no condition to go chasing after satan right now, okay?
Ciara: That doesn’t matter now, ben. I am a mother. I’m a mom, and it is my job to protect my child.
Ben: Your job right now is to rest. I will go find allie and bo as soon as we go get some help, okay?
Ciara: Oh, my god, there is no way. I’m never gonna let you face that alone, and I’m not going to rest, not until my son is in my arms again!
Ben: You need to rest. Ciara, sit down!
Ciara: Ben, I don’t care!

Evan: So this whole thing is about getting revenge on marlena for tossing you out 25 years ago?
Demon allie: [Laughs] You mortals and your simplistic understanding of motives.
Evan: It’s a fair question.
Demon allie: If I wanted revenge on marlena, I could have snapped my fingers and wiped out her entire family line.
Evan: So why possess her again? Why possess her granddaughter?
Demon allie: Well, if i showed you allie horton’s resume, you’d understand my choice. After everything she’s been through in her short life, tragic little allie horton is the perfect host. And she’s proved ideal in my procurement of this little bundle of despair.
Evan: That’s ben and ciara’s baby, isn’t it?
Demon allie: Look, you figured it out.
Evan: What do you plan to do with him?
Rafe: What were you thinking, wanting to leave here?
Ciara: I was thinking–I was thinking that I needed to go look for my baby, rafe.
Rafe: Yeah, but not in your condition. You need to get to the hospital.
Ciara: I need to find my baby, rafe. We should all be out here, looking for him.
Ben: Do you have any leads?
Rafe: Honestly, I thought that allie was gonna be here.
Ben: Well, maybe she’s still on the island.
Ciara: Great, well, then, that is why we should be searching.
Rafe: Ciara, ciara, it’s okay. I have got people searching everywhere. In fact, when they found out that bo and hope brady’s grandson was missing, everyone volunteered to join in the search.
Ciara: Thank you.
Rafe: Yeah.
Ciara: Thank you.
Rafe: You don’t have to thank me, all right? You don’T. Listen, you’re family. Right? This is personal.
Ben: I’m gonna get her to the hospital and get her checked out.
Ciara: Ben, please, just–
Ben: No, ciara. Rafe is right. You just had our baby here prematurely with no medical supervision. We need to get you checked out and make sure that you’re healthy. Bo is going to need his mother to be strong. Okay? Okay?
Ciara: Oh… rafe, promise me you’re not going to stop until you find him.
Rafe: Listen to me. You need to trust me when I say this. I will not stop. I will turn smith island, salem, hell, the entire world upside down until I bring your son back to you.
Lani: I have to warn paulina about tr before it’s too late.
Eli: Are you sure paulina’s with him?
Lani: Yes. I saw them getting into an elevator, and they looked really cozy.
Paulina: Why do I pay to live in a building with a doorman if they’re just gonna let any kind of weirdo up to my door? Oh, I’m gonna give them a piece of my mind. Where’s my phone?
Tr: Paulina, paulina, paulina.
Paulina: What?
Tr: We really have to get going on our trip. We can tell the doorman when we get downstairs.
Paulina: Oh, well, what’s the rush?
Tr: It’s no rush. I–I just can’t wait to get you all to myself.
Paulina: Uh-huh.
Tr: What’s wrong?
Paulina: Well, I just don’t– I still don’t feel right about leaving lani and eli at a time like this.
Tr: You aren’t leaving them. Like I said, you’ll only be a phone call away if anything happens. But paulina, you have to take care of yourself too. Let me take care of you.
Paulina: [Chuckles] Okay. Well, let’s get this romantic weekend started.
Tr: That’s what I’m talking about.
[Both laughing]

Evan: I’m just asking.
Demon allie: And it is nobody’s business. Ever since I made sure ciara got pregnant, it is all I’ve heard. Not, you know, “is hell a dry heat, like arizona, or a humid one, like louisiana?” Or “how long did it take for cerberus to become housebroken?” Or “are you responsible for robocalls?”, Which yes, I am.
Evan: [Laughs] Figures.
Demon allie: But no, you humans have a one-track mind, always seeking to understand the unknowable, and it is really annoying.
Evan: Well, at the risk of turning into a pillar of salt…
Demon allie: That’s the other guy’s thing.
Evan: Right. Anyway, you and I are supposed to be partners, right?
Demon allie: Hardly equal partners, but okay.
Evan: Don’t you think i deserve to know what you have in store for ben and ciara’s brat?
Demon allie: It is your lucky day, evan frears. As a reward for helping me convince ciara that that lunk, jake dimera, was her dead husband, you’ll become the first mortal on earth to learn what i have in store for little bo weston.
[Line trilling]
Lani: Damn it. Voice mail again. Paulina, it’s me. Listen to me, okay? Ray is the one who shot eli. He is dangerous, and you need to get away from him right now. Okay, please call me back as soon as you get this, and do not let tr know that we are on to him.
[Sighs]
Eli: It’s gonna be okay.
Lani: No, I mean, I need to get to her before–she could be in real trouble, eli.
Eli: Lani, you need to call in backup.
Lani: Every available officer is out looking for ciara’s baby.
Eli: Well, there’s gotta be someone out there who can help.
Lani: I don’t need help. Tr needs to be arrested for what he did to you, and I want to be the one to do it. Okay?
Eli: No! Lani!
Lani: Love you.
Tr: I’ve been waiting a lot of years for this second chance.
Paulina: Okay, let’s do it.
[Both laughing]
Abe: [Groans]
Paulina: Did you hear that?
Tr: I didn’t hear anything.
Paulina: Well, I did, and i know my ears aren’t playing tricks on me.
Tr: Paulina, we gotta go, baby.
Paulina: It sounds like it came from over there.
Tr: There’s nothing over there.
Paulina: Oh, my god! Abraham!
Julie: Oh, lani! Oh, thank… tripp just gave me the wonderful news. Eli’s awake!
Lani: Yeah, he is. Um, where are the twins?
Julie: Oh, I got your regular babysitter. They were snoozing when I left.
Lani: Julie, I’m sorry. I need to go.
Julie: Well, everything’s all right, isn’t it?
Lani: No, it’s not. I need to find paulina.
Julie: Well, she’s with your father.
Lani: You saw paulina with tr?
Julie: Not tr, darling. Your real father, abraham.

Julie: I was just with him, and he has come to the realization he still loves paulina, so I sent him to her to get her back.

Julie: Well, I’m happy to report, I just came from the twins, and little jules and carver just cannot wait to see their daddy again.
Eli: Can’t wait to see them, too. Doug–doug. How is doug?
Julie: Oh, he’s so much better than he was a couple of months ago. Thank you for asking.
Eli: I’m glad to hear it.
Julie: Well, sweetie, I must tell you, I was expecting sort of a different mood when I got here. I ran into lani, and she seemed so disturbed about something, but she ran off before I had a chance to ask her what had happened.
Eli: She just received some really disturbing news. Grandma, I gotta tell you something. You’re not gonna like it.
Julie: You’re frightening me, sweetheart. Just tell me what it is.
Eli: I remember who shot me.
Julie: You do. Who was it?
Eli: It was lani’s father. It was tr coates.
Paulina: He’s bleeding! What the hell did you do to him?
Tr: Listen, listen, paulina. This is not what it looks like.
Paulina: Oh, the hell with you! I’m dialing 911.
Tr: No, you don’t have to do that.
Paulina: Oh, what–missed call from lani? Oh!
Tr: I’m sorry, paulina. I can’t let you make that call.
Nurse: You should start to feel a lot better once you get some fluids in you.
Ciara: I feel fine. What would make me feel better is if I could help with the search party.
Nurse: Get some rest, okay?
[Soft music]
Ciara: I hate sitting here, doing nothing.
Ben: You are not doing nothing. You just gave birth.
Ciara: Baby, you know what i mean.
Ben: Ciara, the best thing that you can do for our son right now is to take care of yourself, because when we bring bo home, he’s gonna need a healthy mom. Okay?
Ciara: Mm-hmm.
Ben: Mm-hmm.
Ciara: I know. And I will be. Ben, I only got to see him for a few minutes, and he was so beautiful, and he was so tiny and fragile.
Ben: I’m sure he’s pretty tiny, but I’m also sure that he’s gonna be very strong, just like his mom.
Ciara: [Whimpers] I don’t even have a picture of him. Oh, my god. I’m so scared. Ben, I am so scared.
[Quiet piano music]
Evan: Well, don’t keep me in suspense.
Demon allie: All right. Well, when you’ve been around forever, time becomes a little bit relative.
Evan: You said you’d tell me your plan.
Demon allie: It’ll feel good to tell someone. You know, sometimes it’s frustrating being this clever and this evil and having no one to share it with.
Evan: I’ve been told I’m a good listener.
Demon allie: Right. Well, as I was saying, after managing to temporarily possess marlena and various members of her family, to varying degrees of success, I decided that it was time for me to take residence in a more permanent dwelling.
Evan: So you’re gonna possess the baby.
Demon allie: Well, “possess” is not the exact word I would use for this process. You see, when you take over a human soul, you run the risk of their true nature constantly fighting you to get back to their loved ones.
Evan: So is this allie fighting you right now?
Demon allie: Like a tiger. And I must admit, she almost got through after little bo here was born. But with him, I won’t have that problem, because his soul is just as new and shiny as he is. There’s no time for him to form those pesky little bonds with his natural-born family that made marlena and the others fight me so hard. Think of bo here as my earthly do-over. He and I will get a whole lifetime together.
[Eerie music]

Evan: So how is this going to work? If you’re taking over the baby’s soul, are you planning to have ben and ciara, like, raise you?
Demon allie: No. I’m afraid ben and ciara’s part in this is over. And actually, that’s where you come in. It’s going to be a lot easier for the proper caretaker that I’m selecting if ben and ciara aren’t constantly trying to get their son back.
Evan: What do you want me to do about it?
Demon allie: It’s simple. I want you to kill ciara and ben weston.
Ciara: [Crying]
Ben: A few years ago, if something like this had happened, I would’ve said, “of course. It’s what I deserve.” But sitting here with you right now, ciara, I don’t feel that way. I don’t feel fear or despair. Yes, it’s a dark time, but… I feel hope.
Ciara: How?
Ben: Because we have to stay positive. And you are the one who taught me that. You taught me that just by loving me and believing in me, and I believe that we are going to see our son again. We have to, and I know it. I know it. Do you hear me?
Ciara: Yeah. I hear you. And I believe it, too. I have to. But, ben, there’s something that I need you to do for me.
Ben: Anything.
Ciara: I need you to go.
Ben: Ciara–
Ciara: Baby, there are plenty of doctors and nurses here who will take care of me. I don’t need you hanging around here. I need you going. I need you to go and join the search party.
Ben: Are you sure?
Ciara: Go bring our little baby bo home. Go find our son, ben.
Ben: I am going to find our son. I promise you. Okay? I promise you.
[Tender music]
Julie: Tr did this to you?
Eli: Yeah.
Julie: I knew it. I knew he was bad news from the get-go.
Eli: Grandma, you’re a good judge of character.
Julie: I never imagined he would try to murder my grandson. If I ever get my hands on him…
Eli: Okay, grandma… listen, that’s not good for your heart.
Julie: Forget about my heart. I just sent abe over to paulina’s apartment to explain that he’s still in love with her. What if tr is there? What if I have just put paulina and abe in harm’s way?
Eli: Grandma, lani is on her way over there right now.

Tr: I can explain if you let me.
Paulina: The hell you can. You haven’t changed at all, have you, ray? You’re still the same lying, violent dog you always were!
