Y&R Character Description – Lily Winters

Lily Winters

Lily

Played By Christel Adnana Khalil

on April 21, 2013

When Drucilla Winters gave birth to Lily, she let her husband, Neil, believe he was the father.  Neil’s brother, Malcolm Winters took advantage of Drucilla while she was under the influence.  She thought she was making love to Neil.  She became pregnant and Neil never questioned whether or not he was Lily’s father.  Malcolm and Drucilla decided to keep her true paternity a secret.  The marriage fell apart anyway and Drucilla took her young daughter to Paris.

Several years later, Drucilla sent Lily back to Genoa City, where Neil had become an alcoholic.  At first, Lily hated Genoa City until she met a kindred spirit, Colleen Carlton.  The two girls became very close and Neil cleaned up his act, so Lily adjusted to life in America.

As a teen, Lily tried online dating and met Kevin Fisher.  Kevin was a possessive boyfriend and treated Lily badly.  When Colleen tried to warn Lily, Kevin started a fire at Gina’s restaurant intending to kill Colleen, who was inside.  Kevin was Lily’s first lover and she contracted Chlamydia.

Lily and Kevin’s best friend, Daniel Romalotti fell in love.  They eloped after Lily found out that Malcolm was her biological father.  On the paperwork, she listed Malcolm as her father.  Later, she confronted Drucilla and Neil overheard the truth.  Lily assured him that he would always be her dad, but the relationship between Neil and Malcolm never recovered.  The marriage between Daniel and Lily also dissolved once Lily realized she couldn’t trust Daniel and his porn addiction.

Lily caught the eye of local bartender, Cane Ashby.  Neil liked Cane as an employee, but he didn’t approve of a relationship between his little girl and a much older man.  Lily and Cane fought their attraction for each other for awhile but they ultimately gave in.

Lily and Cane broke up briefly because it was thought that he was the father of Chloe Mitchell’s baby, Cordelia.  Billy came forward as the father and Chloe admitted that she and Cane had never actually had sex, she had drugged him and told him they had sex.  Lily and Cane reconciled and they were married.

Cane had done some lying of his own.  He had everyone believing he was the real Chancellor heir, Phillip Chancellor, III.  The real Phillip showed up and the whole truth was uncovered.  Lily forgave Cane for this lie.  He continued to lie throughout their marriage and she continued to forgive him, even after he allowed her to believe he was killed and he was haunting her.

Lily won a war against cancer, but was unable to conceive.  Mackenzie Browning, granddaughter of Katherine Chancellor, agreed to be a surrogate.  She gave birth to twins Matilda (Matty) and Charlie.

Even though Lily has given him no reason to doubt her loyalty to him, Cane is jealous and possessive.  He insists Lily is too kind-hearted to see peoples’ true intentions.

Lily is, in fact, a very loyal wife and friend.  She loves her children very much as well as her job and she does a good job of juggling the two.  While she does tend to see only the good in people, she is a smart and savvy woman who can have it all in spite of all the tragedy she’s endured.

Y&R Character Description – Esther Valentine

Esther Valentine

Esther

Esther Valentine has been a loyal housekeeper and friend to Katherine Chancellor for many years.  For a short time, Esther worked for Nina after being lured away with promises of a better dress code and equal treatment.  Esther soon found out that working for Katherine wasn’t as bad as she thought, and she returned to the Chancellor estate.

Tired of being lonely, Esther had a one-night stand with Tiny and became pregnant.  She named the baby Kate and asked Katherine to be Kate’s godmother.  As a child, Kate was sent off to school.

Again having the need for male companionship, Esther began dating Norman Peterson.  She pretended to be the lady of the Chancellor estate.  Not wanting to embarrass Esther, Katherine and her husband Rex played along.  Rex caught Norman trying to steal from Katherine and confronted him, who was actually an ex-con.  Rex was shot in the process.

Proving that Esther is quick to trust and has bad luck with men, she, once again, became involved with a man who only wanted to get his hands on the Chancellor fortune.  Katherine was kidnapped and presumed dead, leaving Esther financially secure.  Esther and Roger were married, but he turned out to be married to someone else.  Katherine was reunited with her family.

When the time came for the folks at the Chancellor estate to meet Cane’s new bride-to-be, Esther was surprised to see it was her daughter, Kate, who was now going by the name Chloe.  Chloe had a daughter she named Cordelia.

Realizing Esther’s worth, Katherine promoted her from housekeeper to personal assistant, leaving Esther plenty of time to spend with her granddaughter.

Y&R Character Description – Nick Newman

Nicholas Newman

Nick

Nicholas Newman
Played By Josh Morrow
Written By Darlene

on May 22, 2013

Nicholas “Nick” Newman spent most of his life trying to make his father, business mogul Victor Newman, proud; but it always seemed that Victor held the bar higher for his son than his daughters, Victoria and Abby.  Nick realized that he would never make Victor proud and he no longer cared.  He ventured out on his own and discovered his own passion, which had nothing to do with business.  Nick is the owner of Genoa City’s newest nightclub, “The Underground.”

Nick is not only flaky in his professional life but also in matters of the heart.  He married his first love, Sharon, but strayed more than once.  When he found himself expecting a child with his mistress, Phyllis Summers, he divorced Sharon and married Phyllis.  He cheated on Phyllis with Sharon, and they divorced.  He planned to marry Sharon again, but she chose his brother, Adam.  Nick went back to Phyllis but decided he didn’t want to play her games, so he left her and hooked up with her sister, Avery.  It seems Nick may not have inherited his father’s head for business but they both have wandering hearts.

Nick would do anything to protect his family.  In spite of all the hearts he breaks, he feels the need to protect the women in his life, not the least of which is Summer, the child he conceived out of wedlock with Phyllis.  Summer, who became a beautiful young woman, is prone to mischief and makes foolish decisions in spite of warnings from family and friends.  This could be because Nick refuses to let her grow up.

Though Nick can be callous and hypocritical at times, he has a way of making people love him and forget all the horrible things he’s done.  After all, compared to his brother, Adam, in many ways Nick is a saint.

Grandparents: Albert and Cora Miller (paternal), Nicholas Reed (maternal)
Parents: Victor and Nicole “Nikki” Newman
Children: Cassidy Newman (adoptive, deceased), Noah, Summer and Faith Newman, Christian Newman (legal)
Siblings: Victoria Newman, Adam Newman (paternal-half), Abby Newman (paternal-half), Dylan McAvoy (maternal-half)
Aunts and Uncles: Matt Miller, (paternal), Casey Reed (maternal)

Liam and Hope have decorated Steffy’s home, with the help of Beth and Kelly, with balloons and more. They wonder how Steffy is doing. Hope offers to help take care of Kelly if Steffy needs it. Liam thinks that’s a great idea, but he figures that Steffy will just want to see Kelly when she gets home. Later, Hope tells him that the girls are sound asleep. She’s glad they were able to fix up the place for Steffy. They stocked the fridge for her and will be welcoming her home. They agree that it’s a miracle that Steffy didn’t get hurt worse in her accident (because she was wearing a helmet). They admire the beautiful flowers that Taylor sent. Liam tells Hope that Thomas was in contact with Douglas as well. At the hospital, Steffy tells Dr. Finnegan that she just wants to go home and see her daughter. Steffy asks if she can pick up Kelly, but the doctor cautions her against any kind of lifting or exertion. He asks about her pain. She claims it’s much better. The doctor can tell that she’s in more pain than she’s letting on. He advises her to take more medication if she needs it, so she can heal.  She doesn’t want to be in a fog when she’s with Kelly, but she agrees. Ridge arrives, ready to take Steffy home. The doctor tells Ridge that Steffy needs to take her medication so that she can heal properly. He tells Steffy that she shouldn’t do any lifting or driving, and that she should take a pill when she gets home. Ridge promises to make sure she does, and he thanks the doctor and staff for their help. Steffy and Ridge arrive at her home. She’s walking very stiffly but loves the decorations they made for her. After saying hello to Liam and Hope, she insists on going in to see Kelly, even though the girls are asleep. Ridge reminds Steffy to take her pain medication as the doctor ordered. Liam points out to Stefft what she’s gone through and insists she take the medication to give herself a break. She tries to argue, but she gives in. Hope looks worried.

Wyatt and Flo greet each other after sleeping together in the beach house. They decide not to think about Sally any more and plan to have more sex, but Katie shows up. She wonders where Sally is and why she texted her an apology. They fill Katie in on what’s been happening with Sally. Katie is relieved that Sally isn’t dying, but she’s very angry at her for lying to everyone and using her. Flo is obviously still very annoyed at Sally, whereas Wyatt is more sympathetic. He tells Katie that he couldn’t bring himself to press charges against Sally and Penny. After Katie leaves, Wyatt tells Flo how special she is to him. He gives her many compliments as they sit on the couch and smile lovingly at each other. Meanwhile, Sally sits alone in her apartment, looking glum and crying. Katie drops by. Sally doesn’t open the door when Katie knocks, so Katie opens it. She asks Sally, “How could you?”

Eve and Vincent had Ben tied up and were ready to brainwash him. Will got a call from Lucas about Allie having the baby. He told Sonny the news and he was excited. Nicole felt bad about telling Allie the truth. She and Eric talked about Sami and Allie’s argument. Sami and Belle talked about Eve going after Ben. Sami understood how Eve reacted the way she did. Belle told her how Hope and Shawn were worried about Ciara. She said that Claire wanted to redeem herself with Ciara. Ciara, Hope, Shawn, and Claire were in New York. Ciara wanted to go to Eve’s place to find out where Ben was. Hope let her know it wouldn’t happen.

Eve wanted to know how Ben was feeling. She told him that a mind altering drug was being placed in his body. He wanted to know what she wanted. She reminded him that she was turning him into the necktie killer. She wanted to know when was the last time he took his meds. She had more drugs for him to break him down. She wanted him to choke the life out of Ciara the way he took the life out of Paige. Hope said that she and Shawn would talk to Eve and Ciara and Claire had to wait. Ciara and Claire objected, but Hope explained why they couldn’t go. Claire wanted to follow Hope and Shawn so they could find Ben too. Claire decided not to go after Ciara talked to her. Ciara thought she might be too late and Eve might have killed him. Claire assured her that Eve would have killed him at the church. Eve told him how she went to Paige’s grave and wondered how he could live. She thought he loved Ciara and needed love. She knew he had to live so he would know what real love was and found out what it felt like to lose her.

Belle was surprised that Allie had the baby and that Sami didn’t tell her. Sami explained that Allie and the baby were okay. She was sad that Allie didn’t want her to be there. Belle tried to make her feel better, but she said it was her own fault that Allie didn’t want her in her life. Will and Sonny checked on Allie’s baby. They thought they were lucky. Eric and Nicole arrived at the hospital. Eric told them that Nicole was Allie’s birthing coach and they wondered why she didn’t call them. Nicole admitted that Sami didn’t want her to do it. Ben said he wouldn’t kill Ciara. Eve told him what Vincent was going to do to him. She continued to tell him what was going to happen to him. Vincent explained to Ben what he planned on putting into him.

Sami continued to talk to Belle about Nicole causing her pain. Belle didn’t think it was true since she’s married to their brother. Sami said that Nicole was the reason why Allie was mad at her. Sami said she did something so Belle wanted to know what she did. Nicole told Will and Sonny that Sami didn’t want them called in case Allie bonded with the baby. Will slipped and said it wasn’t true. He had a flashback of his conversation with Sami. Sonny didn’t care what Sami wanted because Allie said they could have the baby. Nicole said there was something she had to tell them. Eve warned Ben he would feel sensations. She wanted to take him on a trip down memory lane. She said Vincent would control his reactions to what he saw.

A picture of Ciara popped up. Hope and Shawn arrived at Eve’s apartment and the door was open. Eric told Will and Sonny that Sami convinced Rafe not to adopt the baby. Belle couldn’t believe what Sami said to her. Belle wanted to know if Allie knew that Lucas and Will knew her plan. Belle didn’t think Allie would want to see her for a while. Ben saw more images of the wedding. Ben said he loved to see Ciara happy. Eve said that was going to change. Vincent charged him to brainwash him. Hope and Shawn told Claire and Ciara how Eve’s apartment was paid off and how it looked clean. Eve showed Ben pictures of Paige and Ciara.

Sami tried to explain why she went to Rafe. Belle thought she needed to give Allie some space. Sami wanted to go to Allie to talk to her. Nicole continued to tell Will and Sonny what happened. Eric wanted to check on Allie. Sonny was upset with Sami, but he was grateful Will wasn’t like her. Shawn thought he knew someone who could help find Chloe. Ben called out Ciara’s name. Eve brought in a mannequin that was dressed like Ciara. Sonny wanted to find Sami and tell her to stay out of her business. Sami showed up just as Sonny was finished talking about her. Chloe showed up to talk to Ciara, Hope, Shawn, and Claire. They needed her help with Eve. Eve put the necktie in Ben’s hands and told him to kill Ciara. He looked at Ciara’s picture on the monitor.

Kevin Fisher

Kevin

Written By Darlene
on March 13, 2013

We met Kevin when he was an internet predator and he gave Lily Winters Chlamydia.  He tried to kill Colleen Carlton.  Later, he threatened Lauren Fenmore.  Still, he was forgiven by most people and became a decent citizen and business owner.

Kevin grew up in an abusive home.  His father, Terrible Tom Fisher, used to lock him in the closet.  Kevin is now claustrophobic.  Long after he changed for the better, a man named Clint took advantage of Kevin’s state of mind and forced him to rob banks dressed as a chipmunk, something Kevin is reminded of often by some Genoa City citizens like Billy Abbott.

Kevin is married to Chloe Mitchell Fisher, who has made some pretty outrageous mistakes herself.  It is this unpredictable behavior that makes them so interesting.  One or both of them is/are usually cooking up some sort of scheme.

Like most people in Genoa City who’ve turned their lives around, Kevin is close to Katherine Chancellor, whose maid, Esther, is Kevin’s mother-in-law.

Michael Baldwin is Kevin’s brother.  He understands Kevin and why he does the things he does, because Michael witnessed the abuse Kevin endured growing up and he, himself, turned his life around after spending some time in prison.

Kevin Fisher is a young man who has walked the line between right and wrong his entire life.  There is something about him, though, that makes us root for him.  Like Kevin says, maybe he brings out the chipmunk in all of us.

Y&R Character Description – Devon Hamilton

Devon Hamilton

Devon

Written By Darlene
on January 21, 2013

Devon Hamilton met Lily Winters while doing community service in Genoa City.  Lily befriended him and introduced him to her parents, Neil and Drucilla Winters.  Devon’s mother, Yolanda, was a drug addict and unable to properly take care of her son.  Drucilla convinced Neil they should become Devon’s foster parents.  They also tried to help Yolanda.  That plan seemed to work until Yolanda misinterpreted Neil’s feelings for her and made a pass at him.  Yolanda left town and Neil and Drucilla adopted Devon.

Devon was diagnosed with meningitis and lost his hearing.  He was given cochlear implants to help.  In spite of his hearing impairment, Devon has a love for music and is very talented.

In 2008, Drucilla fell over a cliff during a scuffle with Phyllis Newman.  Her body was never found, but she was presumed dead.

Devon’s Aunt Tyra and her daughter, Ana, came to town and were welcomed by the Winters family.  Ana has a talent for music, like Devon.

Devon’s great aunt revealed that she isn’t really related to Devon at all and Ana is the daughter of Yolanda, making her his sister.  Tyra explained that she took Ana in because Yolanda was unable to care for her.

By this time, Neil was remarried to Karen, but he and Tyra couldn’t ignore their attraction for each other and had an affair.  Devon was witness to this and became very angry.  As Devon and Tyra argued, they succumbed to passion and had sex.  Devon’s girlfriend, Roxanne, walked in on them and broke up with him for a short time, but he convinced her it wouldn’t happen again.

Katherine Chancellor gave Ana a scholarship to go to school for her singing and Tyra decided to join her.  Tyra and Ana left town but not after damage had been done.  Besides the Devon/Roxanne break up, Karen divorced Neil.

In 2011, it was revealed that Devon’s father was none other than Tucker McCall, who once traveled with rock bands on the road.  Yolanda was a groupie who had a relationship with Tucker.  Yolanda wrote Tucker a note, but she never let him meet his son.  Despite all his resources, he never bothered to search for his child.

Upon realizing that Devon was his son, Tucker wanted a relationship with him.  Yolanda came back to town with a new name, Harmony.  Harmony was clean and sober and wanted to bond with Devon and Ana.  Katherine Chancellor, who was Devon’s new grandmother and an alcoholic herself, took Harmony in and helped her stay sober.  Harmony discovered she was still attracted to Neil and this time he reciprocated.

Devon eventually made peace with Harmony and Katherine, but remained skeptical of Tucker, who seemed to care more about business than family.  Harmony left Genoa City to be closer to Ana in spite of her growing relationships with both Devon and Neil.

Devon found the music business to be very slow in Wisconsin, so he joined Neil, Lily, and Lily’s husband Cane to work at Jabot.

Chloe Mitchell came into this world as Kate Valentine, daughter of Katherine Chancellor’s maid, Esther Valentine.  She was sent to boarding school at a young age.  Several years later, Chloe Mitchell arrived in Genoa City to be a fashion coach for Lily Winters, who won the “Fresh Face of Jabot” contest.

When Chloe found out she was pregnant, she tricked Cane Ashby, Lily’s boyfriend, into thinking he was the father by getting him drunk and staging a “morning after” scene.  Cane married Chloe, and we found out that Chloe really was Kate Valentine.  Billy Abbott returned to Genoa City and, knowing he was the real father of Chloe’s baby, let Cane believe Cane was the father.  The truth finally came to light, though, and Cane got back together with Lily while Billy married Chloe.  Chloe had a daughter they named Cordelia (Delia for short), but the marriage was a disaster.  Billy’s heart belonged to Mackenzie Browning.  Chloe and Billy were divorced and she started dating Billy’s nephew, Chance.  Chloe and Chance became engaged but broke up when he could not contain his feelings for Heather Stevens.  To get even and make Chance jealous, Chloe slept with his half-brother, Ronan Malloy.  Chloe talked Kevin Fisher into letting her move in to his apartment.  They became best friends and eventually lovers.  Kevin and Chloe were married with Delia’s blessing.

Chloe and Kevin have had their ups and downs but value their marriage and friendship.  They are involved in a joint business venture with Adam and Chelsea Newman called TagNGrab, a fashion website.

Chloe is a wise-cracking bundle of energy who brings fun amongst all the drama in Genoa City.  She usually acts before she thinks, but she has matured a lot since returning home with a chip on her shoulder.

Parents: Esther Valentine (Mother), Tiny (Father)
Children: Cordelia Abbott, Bella Fisher

Y&R Character Description – Billy Abbott

Billy Abbott

Written By Darlene
on October 23, 2012

Billy Abbott is the son of Jill Abbott Fenmore and the late John Abbott.  He shares the same father with Jack, Ashley, and Traci.  He shares the same mother with Phillip Chancellor III.   When Jill and John divorced, Billy went away to boarding school and returned as a teenager.  His partying days started then, and he found himself in one predicament after another — alcohol, women, and gambling being his major vices.  He left town again when he found out that his marriage to Mackenzie was invalid because they were first cousins.  Years later, as adults, the two reconciled briefly after finding out they are not related after all.

Billy is the father of Cordelia Abbott, a child he conceived with Chloe Mitchell who was little more than a fling.  He also conceived a child with Chelsea Lawson (now Chelsea Newman).  Billy and his current wife, Victoria Newman Abbott, are raising the baby.  They named him John.

Billy has a way of finding trouble wherever he goes and whatever he does, but he loves his family and he has the best of intentions.  He just can’t get past the need to stick it to his father-in-law, Victor Newman.  The two have had a rivalry for years now.  The fact that Billy is an Abbott, brother of Victor’s nemesis, Jack Abbott, coupled with the fact that Billy is married to Victor’s daughter makes him enemy number one, and Victor has done equally evil things to Billy.  Billy also finds it difficult to pass up a juicy story for his magazine, Restless Style, even when it hurts his family.

In spite of his past and oft bad decisions, one can’t help but root for this lovable playboy.  He adores Victoria and dotes on his children.  He’s the apple of his sisters’ eyes and sometimes the voice of reason for his big brother, Jack.

Parents: John Abbott and Jill Foster Abbott
Children: Cordelia, John and Katherine Abbott
Siblings: Jack, Traci and Ashley Abbott (paternal half-siblings), Phillip Chancellor III (maternal half-brother)
Aunts and Uncles: Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (maternal, half), Snapper and Greg Foster (maternal, adoptive)
First Cousins: Scott Grainger and Fenmore Baldwin

Y&R Character Description – Abby

Abby Newman

Abby

Written by Darlene
on October 19, 2012

When Abby’s mother, Ashley Abbott, returned home pregnant after a lengthy vacation, she told everyone she’d gotten pregnant via sperm donation. Brad Carlton married Ashley and claimed the child as his own. Years later, Ashley was diagnosed with breast cancer. Fearing the worst, she made a video for young Abby revealing Abby’s true paternity — Victor Newman. In spite of the fact that Ashley survived the bout with cancer, Abby saw the video. For years, she considered both Brad and Victor her fathers.

Brad died saving Noah Newman from drowning in the lake near the Abbott cabin. Not long after that, Abby’s half-sister, Colleen, drowned in the very same lake. Since then, she has embraced the Newmans and the Newman name.

Abby’s need for attention was the strongest motivation when she developed the “Naked Heiress.” She pulled many outrageous stunts and gained some fame. The Naked Heiress was a passing fad, but Abby’s need for attention did not subside.

Abby sued Victor for enough money to start her own reality show, but when Victoria got involved, Abby lost control of the situation. The lawsuit that Abby, Victoria, and Nick finally won awarded them each half a billion dollars.

Abby disapproved of Ashley’s marriage to Tucker McCall. She staged a meeting between Tucker and Diane Jenkins, hoping her mother would catch the two having an affair. Instead, Abby lost control of her car and ran Tucker down, leaving him in a coma. Ashley tried to take the blame for it, but Tucker knew the truth. He never pressed charges.

Abby became a reporter for Restless Style when her uncle, Billy, was offered the chance to make his magazine of the same name into a gossip television show.

Parents: Victor Newman (Father), Ashley Abbott (Mother) Brad Carlton (Adoptive Father), Children: Unborn baby girl with Ben “Stitch” Rayburn (Miscarriage), Siblings: Victoria, Nick and Adam Newman (paternal half siblings), Colleen Carlton* (adoptive paternal half-sister), Aunts and Uncles: Jack, Traci and Billy Abbott, Eric Vanderway (maternal), Matt Miller (paternal), Cousins: Keemo, Kyle, Delia, Johnny** and Katie** Abbott, Theo Vanderway, Colleen Carlton, Nieces and Nephews: Reed Hellstrom, Johnny and Katie Abbott, Cassie, Noah, Summer, Faith, Connor and Christian Newman

*Colleen and Abby shared a father, Brad and their mothers, Ashley and Traci are sisters, so they were siblings and cousins.

**Katie and Johnny are Abby’s niece and nephew through Victoria and cousins through Billy.

Y&R Character Description – Victor

Victor Newman

Victor Newman

Victor, is the son of Cora and Albert Miller. His parents, an impoverished couple in Buffalo New York, named him Christian Miller. After his father abandoned the family, Cora couldn’t afford to take care of her two sons, she took the oldest, seven year old Christian, to an orphanage. Though she promised to return for him, she never did. Christian ran away from the orphanage as a teenager and changed his name to Victor Newman, a name stating his intent to become a victorious new man. He started out selling soap out of the trunk of his car, and he eventually built a skill set to land a job running Chancellor Industries. He later started his own company, Newman Enterprises and turned it into a billion dollar conglomerate. In addition to being a wealthy and powerful businessman known world-wide for his shrewd skills, he’s also a husband and father. He and Nikki have been together off and on since the 1980s, and though they’ve hurt each other deeply and sworn that they’d never forgive each other, their love has proven to be unbreakable, and they continue to come back together. Victor did see his parents again. He and Cora made peace before her death. Albert became a wealthy man, though nowhere near as well-off as Victor. When Albert met his son again, he had no idea what a success he’d become. Albert rejected Victor, and, he offered to pay Victor to leave him alone. Hurt and furious, Victor revealed who he was and made it clear that he didn’t need Albert or his money.

Victor loves his family, but he’s never fully gotten over the abandonment he experienced as a child. He has sometimes crossed lines in order to do what he feels is best to protect his loved ones and keep them close. Victor is demanding, both in business and in his personal life. He has been known to pit his children against each other in an effort to push them to excel or to toe the line. When his family disappoints him, his reactions can be harsh. Victor once had Victoria arrested in an attempt to stop her wedding to Billy. When Nick and Sharon made plans to relocate to California and take Faith and Christian with them, Victor started a legal battle over custody of Christian (Adam’s biological son, who was being raised as Nick’s child). Victor also teamed up with Chloe to frame Adam for murder. It’s difficult for Victor to admit it when he’s wrong, but he usually eventually does. While being Victor’s relative means being held to a high standard, it also comes with perks. He gave Victoria, Nick and Abby every advantage in life that he did not have. Hope wanted her son, Victor Jr., AKA Adam, to have a simple peaceful life. Victor reluctantly allowed her to raise their son in Kansas, and he reached adulthood without knowing his mother’s “friend” Victor was his father. Hope told Adam the truth on her deathbed. Adam felt cheated and lied to, and he spent a lot of time punishing Victor for abandoning him and lashing out at his siblings because they had the childhood that he missed out on. Victor has said that if he could do it all over again, he’d raise Adam.

Victor has been embroiled in a bitter feud with Jack Abbott for decades. Jack once left Victor to die after he suffered a medical event, and Victor once kidnapped Jack and replaced him with a lookalike. Now that Jack and Victor have become seniors, they’ve found common ground, and while they are not friends, they have developed a grudging respect for each other.

Y&R Character Description – Victoria

Victoria Newman

Victoria Newman

Victoria is the first child of Victor and Nikki. She feels that she shares many traits with her namesake, and she’s proud to be like her father. She’s strong and self assured and tenacious, with a sharp mind and business sense. A devoted mother and a loyal daughter and sister. However, she has done things that Victor considered to be a betrayal, such as successfully suing him for control of her $500,000,000 trust fund. She also threatened to take him down after he attempted to take control of Newman from her. He backed off and did not remove her as CEO. These acts did not come out of nowhere; they were the result of Victor doing things to Victoria that she felt were unjust. She believed that she was standing up for herself and taking what she deserved, just as Victor would’ve in her place. Victoria often takes Victor’s side when he does controversial things, and when she isn’t immediately supportive, she is quick to forgive him. This habit has caused tension between her and her romantic interests over the years.

Victoria loves Newman Enterprises, and she’s dreamed of running it since childhood. When she returned from boarding school, she took a job in the Newman mail room, and as she moved up the ranks, she learned everything there was to know about the company. She’s confident in her business skills, and she believes that she is the rightful heir to the company. As of 2020, she is the CEO. She’s pragmatic and doesn’t often let emotion get in the way of doing what she feels needs to be done. This has earned her a reputation for being cold, but she also has a spontaneous and playful side, which was seen more often after she developed a friendship and romance with Billy.

Her confidence was shaken after she suffered mental and physical abuse at the hands of JT Hellstrom. She was wary about falling in love again, but Billy convinced her to take a chance on him. She felt happy and secure in the relationship, and she thought they were building toward spending the rest of their lives together, but that fell apart after he informed her that he was dissatisfied with the relationship. She has made a promise to herself not to ever take him back.

Victor taught Victoria to box to help her feel like she was in control of her life again. She regained her confidence, but she slipped into a depression when she was stabbed by Ripley Turner in a case of mistaken identity. With help, Victoria made progress, and she returned to work. Adam blackmailed Victor into making him CEO and firing Victoria. Victor assured Victoria that it would only be temporary, and he asked her to let him handle it. Victoria decided to take charge and show that she could be as ruthless as Victor was. Victor did not agree with the way Victoria went about things. He told her that she could have her job back, but she’d lost his respect. Victoria, who usually craved Victor’s approval, was unfazed, marking a new point in their relationship.

Y&R Character Description – Christian

Christian Newman

Christian

Christian has been described as a happy child, in spite of all the upheaval and revolving door of parental figures.

Christian had a complicated start in life. He’s the biological son of Adam Newman and Sage Warner Newman, but at birth, most people thought that Nick was his biological father. Sage had a DNA test while she was pregnant. Adam bribed the lab tech to say that Nick was the father. At the time, Adam had faked his death and had lead most of the town to believe his name was Gabriel. Victor knew Adam tampered with the results. Victor thought Adam didn’t he want the lab tech running the paternity test to notice he and Nick were related, which would blow his cover. Adam had been growing closer to Chelsea, under his Gabriel persona, and he feared that having a child with another woman just as they were connecting would jeopardize the connection he was building with Chelsea.

Christian was born prematurely, and Sage and Nick were told he died, but he was actually alive and well and being used in as a pawn in a revenge plot against Nick. Sandy Allen was a classmate of Sharon and Nick’s. As teens, she and Nick were hanging out, when he dared her to dive into a swimming pool from the roof. Sandy accepted the challenge and was paralyzed from the neck down as a result. Victor paid the family off, and Sandra disappeared from everyone’s lives. She made a full recovery and resurfaced as a psychiatrist working in Fairview and going by Sandra Anderson. Sharon checked into Fairview after a miscarriage that she was hiding from everyone except Mariah. She hoped to get pregnant again before anyone found out. Sandra found out about this and put her plan into motion. She lead Sharon to believe that she’d gotten pregnant again, and she kept her drugged and isolated so that no one would find out the truth. She tricked everyone into believing that Sharon gave birth, and she presented her with Christian.

Sharon and Dylan took “their” baby home and named him Sullivan. They raised him for months. Adam was seemingly killed in a cabin explosion, never knowing his son was alive. Prior to this, he’d come clean to Chelsea about Christian’s paternity. Sharon learned that Sully was truly Christian, but she couldn’t bear to lose the boy, so she hid the truth. Sage found out, and she confronted Sharon, but she was killed in a car accident before she could tell anyone else. Eventually, Nick learned the truth, and he took “his” son from Sharon and Dylan.

Chelsea told Phyllis that Adam was Christian’s father, and the information got back to Sharon. Sharon felt that she owed Nick the truth, even if it hurt, so she let him know. Nick was crushed, but he still saw Christian as a son. It turned out that Adam was not dead, and when he returned, he fought for custody of Christian. The judge was unhappy with Nick and Adam’s behavior, and Christian was temporarily placed in Victoria’s care. During a court ordered visit, Adam told Christian that he was really his father. Christian was too young to understand, and he thought Adam was making a joke. In the end, Adam withdrew his petition for custody, and Christian went back to Nick.

Due to being raised by his biological uncle, his siblings are his biological cousins, and his cousin Connor is his biological half-brother.
