Update written by Joseph

John and Marlena have wine at home after finishing dinner. Marlena tells John that she’s sorry he had a rough day. John says he was just putting out fires and asks about her day. Marlena says it was the same. They comment on the sound of silence until Brady comes home and says they would not believe the day he had as he spent the whole day putting out fires. John offers him leftovers and goes to get him a non-alcoholic beer. Brady tells Marlena that with everything on John’s plate, he’s still thinking about him. Marlena calls John a very kind man. Brady wishes he had John’s generosity of spirit and that he was as good of a dad as John is.

Xander and Sarah set up for dinner at home as they are having Maggie over. Sarah reveals they need to set one more place at the table because Maggie is bringing Konstantin but Xander declares that he will not share a dinner table with Konstantin.

Konstantin gets ready in his room at the Kiriakis Mansion. He picks up the card he has and wonders what it means to Steve and John. Maggie comes in to ask if he’s ready and tells him the car is outside as she doesn’t want to keep Sarah and Xander waiting. Konstantin asks if she’s sure this is a good idea since Xander is not his biggest fan and for very good reason…

Ava sits at home, reading a romance novel called “Forbidden Fantasies” until Stefan shows up at the door to deliver her sushi. Stefan hopes she got enough for two. Ava questions if he came for dinner. Stefan responds that he actually came to drink with her. Ava notes that it seems he already started drinking. Stefan says he doesn’t like drinking alone, so he bet she probably had a bottle of wine open by now. Ava asks if she has a choice. Stefan jokes that they can commiserate over how crappy their lives are. Ava decides she has nothing else to do tonight.

Stephanie goes to Everett’s room at the Salem Inn as Everett is finishing a call with Chad. Everett tells Chad that he’ll pick him up at 6 AM tomorrow and hangs up. Everett apologizes to Stephanie for not taking her call earlier as it’s been a crazy couple of hours. Everett says he’s glad she’s there. Stephanie says she came because she couldn’t find her ear bud and this was the last place she remembered having it. Everett finds it on the floor and returns it to her. Stephanie then asks Everett about picking Chad up at 6 AM and where they are going.

Marlena tells Brady not to be so hard on himself as he’s a wonderful father. Brady asks if that’s why his daughter is indifferent to him now and his son is in juvi rehab. John returns with his drink so Brady thanks him. The doorbell then rings. Brady guesses that’s Theresa to sign consent forms for Tate’s youth correctional wilderness trip. Brady answers the door. Theresa apologizes for interrupting but John and Marlena tell her to come in. Theresa says she has to sign registered mail in the morning and she used to be able to do it online but the juvi system was hacked. Marlena comments on Tate doing very well which Theresa says that is what they hear. Brady thinks they’ll actually get to see him on parental visitation. Theresa calls it a very long few weeks. Marlena says they have missed him as well. Theresa brings up all the times she got impatient with Tate or he would annoy her and now she’d give anything to have him annoy her now and be able to embrace him or tell him that she loves him.

Konstantin tells Maggie that he understands not being able to forgive someone who put their daughter in danger, even indirectly. Konstantin doesn’t know if Xander will ever trust him or feel comfortable with him. Maggie tells him that Konstantin will have to change Xander’s mind, especially since Xander is going to be part of her daughter’s life for a very long time. Konstantin questions if she’s implying that he is going to be a part of her life for a long time as well. Maggie says she didn’t mean that, so Konstantin questions what she meant. Maggie says it’s time to go as she doesn’t want to be late for dinner and exits. Konstantin smiles as he follows her out.

Stephanie asks Everett what he and Chad are up to, pointing out that she’s the PR consultant to she needs to know. Everett informs her that they got a big lead on the drug crisis so he and Chad are digging in to it tomorrow. Everett adds that it has major potential to get the Spectator national recognition. Stephanie calls it recognition for him as well and says she’s dying to hear more. Everett says she’ll have to wait until it’s in writing. Stephanie agrees to try to be patient and says she’ll be going now that she got her ear bud. Everett stops her and asks if she has plans, noting that he has a mini-bar of liquor bottles and invites her to stay for dinner.

Ava offers Stefan some sushi but he declines, saying he prefers to drown his sorrows on an empty stomach. Stefan jokes with her about the book she was reading. Ava tells him that she was messing with him in their phone call earlier and that she enjoyed making him crazy. Stefan remarks that he’s already halfway to crazy these days. Ava guesses he really misses Gabi. Stefan confirms that he does every minute. Ava relates to missing someone. Stefan guesses she misses Harris but says she doesn’t need to answer and he’s sorry. Stefan proposes a toast to lost loves and new friendships, asking if he can call this a friendship. Ava jokes that he annoys the hell out of her and she can only stand 10 minutes with him, but guesses they are friends. Stefan jokes that she annoys the hell out of him too and she makes him want to pull his hair out because she’s a tremendous downer, but in spite of all that, he does consider her sort of a friend. They toast to new friendships.

Brady and Theresa sign their papers. Theresa thanks him and says they will talk later. Brady asks how she’s doing. Theresa says she’s good. Marlena offers to give them a few minutes to talk but Theresa says no since it’s their house. John notes that it’s Brady’s house too, so they are going to give them some privacy. John and Marlena head to the bedroom. Theresa then asks Brady why Marlena offered them privacy. Theresa asks if they know, hoping that Brady did not tell them about her getting high.

Xander goes to leave his apartment as Maggie and Konstantin arrive. Maggie questions where he’s going and says it better be to the store. Xander asks her to try to understand. Maggie says she doesn’t as this night is about her, her daughter, and granddaughter, not whatever bad blood is between Xander and Konstantin. Xander then reluctantly invites Konstantin in to his home with Maggie. Xander mentions that Sarah is in the bedroom with Victoria, so Maggie says she’s going to join them and tells them to behave themselves. Konstantin comments on Xander having a lovely home which he calls warm and inviting. Xander thanks him but says to cut the chit chat. Konstantin asks what he would prefer to talk about. Xander says he wants to talk about Maggie Horton, the best person he knows, who he cares about deeply. Xander warns Konstantin about hurting Maggie. Konstantin responds that he’s wary of defending himself to Xander and others who are skeptical about his feelings for Maggie. Konstantin declares that he also cares very deeply about Maggie and he would never hurt her. Konstantin claims that he’s not the man that Xander thinks he is which Xander mocks.

Stefan and Ava finish their wine. Ava asks Stefan if he’d rather have Gabi in prison for decades like she is now or Gabi out of prison, but he never gets to see her again. Stefan calls it tough but says he would set her free so he would at least know she’s safe. Stefan brings out a third bottle of wine and opens it up while Ava calls for them to get hammered.

Stephanie thanks Everett for the offer but says she has a big day tomorrow and he has a very early one, so they can’t risk another all nighter. Everett responds that he’d risk an all nighter with her any day. Everett says he thought their discussion was really important and that maybe they understand each other a little bit better. Stephanie thinks they do. Everett says as they were lying in bed, all the Seattle memories were flooding back to him as he was remembering how in love with each other they were and how much fun they had. Stephanie jokes about when they got sick at a restaurant. Everett says he loves every memory with her including that. Everett talks about the first time that he told her that he loved her and how it took three weeks for her to say it back to him. Everett says when she did, it was the happiest moment of his life. Everett reminds her that he is still in love with her.

Brady asks Theresa not to be upset with him, but admits that he did tell Marlena. Theresa questions why he did that. Brady knows he shouldn’t have but says he needed to tell someone because he was worried about her and Tate. Theresa complains that Marlena already thinks she’s a colossal screw up. Brady argues that she’s a psychiatrist so she understands addiction and doesn’t judge. Brady promises that Marlena was just concerned. Brady asks Theresa not to be upset with him and apologizes. Theresa decides it’s okay but she’s sure Marlena told John, though he’s a really good guy too. Brady swears they won’t tell anyone. Theresa knows he’s right. Theresa brings up when they had their town house and recalls a time when she came over and interrupted Marlena and John. Brady bets she never made that mistake again which Theresa confirms. Theresa says the way John and Marlena look at each other is heart melting. Brady agrees. Theresa comments that her and Brady used to look at each other like that once upon a time. Brady acknowledges that but says now she’s with Alex and he really hopes that’s going well. Theresa doesn’t think he does. Brady insists that he does but Theresa thinks Brady wishes what she wishes, that they could’ve somehow made it work and they could’ve been the next John and Marlena.

Everett apologizes to Stephanie for not resisting the urge to declare his love for her again since he knows it makes her uncomfortable. Everett says he’s not waiting for her to say it back like last time. Stephanie comments on it being hot in here. Everett understands she has to go but Stephanie instead asks if his offer for liquor bottles and dinner is still on the table. Everett say it is. Stephanie says good because they need to discuss the whole friends thing. Everett knows he has trouble with boundaries but promises to stop. Everett knows he keeps breaking that promise. Stephanie says it’s not that and admits the whole friends thing isn’t working for her either.

Ava drunkenly tells Stefan how everything was really great for her and Harris when they came back from London and she was the happiest she had ever been, but then Clyde had to come along. Ava then remembers that Tripp has tequila, so they could do shots which they then do. They end up dancing together and spill some wine on Stefan’s clothes. Stefan says it’s fine as his clothes are like the rest of his life, one big hot mess. Ava goes to get him something to change in to and comes back with her robe which Stefan refuses as he removes his shirt. Ava tells Stefan not to sit on the couch with his wet stained pants so Stefan takes his pants off instead.

Everett asks what Stephanie means by the friend thing isn’t working for her. Stephanie instructs him to give her one of the mini bar bottles and chooses the rum which they then drink. Stephanie then tells Everett that after their conversation last night, all she could think about all day was how great it was when they were together in Seattle. Stephanie mentions their late night talks, how he made her laugh, and the sex. Stephanie decides she’d like to have more of those moments. Stephanie then turns out the light and says she wants to start now. Everett asks if she’s sure as they then kiss.

Brady doesn’t know if he ever thought he and Theresa could be the next John and Marlena as he doesn’t think any couple could reach that bar. Brady thinks Theresa is idealizing what they had a bit much and says they were a hot mess. Theresa feels they had good times but Brady argues that it wasn’t real as they were more addicted to each other. Brady apologizes. Theresa says there’s no need to be sorry if that’s how he remembers it. Brady admits he remembers some really nice times too, but that was then and they are different people now.

Maggie, Konstantin, Xander, and Sarah finish dinner. Maggie compliments the meal while Konstantin remarks that Xander is lucky to have Sarah. Sarah clarifies that the dinner was all Xander as he spent all day in the kitchen. Konstantin then says good for him and admits he enjoyed the meal very much. Maggie asks where Xander learned to cook. Xander explains that his mom taught him and that the most important ingredient is patience. Konstantin questions Xander being raised in Scotland, noting that he only knows him from his reputation in Greece where he did “business” with his father. Konstantin remarks that it explains a lot which Xander questions. Konstantin says he’s always found Scottish people to be cold and harsh. Sarah holds Xander back as Konstantin talks about growing up in Greece and learning the value and importance of being a man’s man. Xander remarks that he would never take advantage of a recently widowed woman. Konstantin resents his comments but says he will take the high road. Konstantin warns that Xander greatly underestimates him. Xander says no one could ever do that. Konstantin tells Maggie it’s time to go but Maggie says it’s not. Konstantin declares that he will not stay anywhere where he is so greatly disrespected. Maggie tells him to order a car then and she’ll see him at home. Konstantin says thanks for a memorable evening and storms out. Konstantin pulls the card out of his pocket and complains about these people and this town as he walks off. Xander apologizes to Maggie. Maggie says she’s sorry for bringing Konstantin and asks what she was thinking. Sarah hugs Maggie and tells her it’s okay.

John and Marlena return to the living room to say goodnight. Marlena tells Theresa it was nice to see her. Theresa stops them and says she knows Brady told them about her slip, so she just wants to say thank God for Brady for helping her get through it and now she’s back on track, going to meetings every day, and she’s determined to never let this happen again. John is glad she’s finally getting the support she needs. Marlena adds that they are there for her. John gets a text and says he has to get going on a new Black Patch client. Theresa says she should get going too so John decides to walk her out. Marlena tells John to be careful as he exits with Theresa.

Maggie tells Xander that she shouldn’t have forced Konstantin on him and she’s sorry it went so badly. Xander blames himself for going off on him. Sarah says it’s all over now but Xander says it’s not for Maggie since she’s going to see him at home. Maggie assures that she’s a big girl and she can handle Konstantin. Sarah asks if she’s sure since Konstantin was angry when he left. Maggie repeats that she can handle him and goes to say goodbye to Victoria. Sarah questions why Xander had to provoke Konstantin. Xander asks if he was just supposed to sit there while Konstantin ran down Scottish people. Xander notes that Maggie was clearly upset, so maybe she’s starting to see the light and realizing that this man who is basically living with her now is very bad news. Sarah feels the jury is still out on Konstantin but she thinks Maggie does need him right now, so she wishes Xander would accept that.

Ava tells Stefan that it’s getting late, so she should go to bed and he should call a cab. Stefan reminds her of her phone call this morning and admits she really got him with all the sexy talk. Stefan talks about her rubbing oil on her body and suggests he could help her finish the job as they start kissing and begin to undress to the words that Ava read in her romance novel earlier. They kiss onto the couch. Stefan asks what if Tripp comes home but Ava says not to worry as they are out late. Stefan then lifts her up and kisses her against the door.

Everett and Stephanie kiss in bed and begin to have sex.

Marlena tells Brady that she’s going to bed and asks about him. Brady decides he will stay up and watch a movie, suggesting Casablanca. Marlena asks if he’s in the mood for romance, noting that he and Theresa were getting along well which she’s glad to see. Brady acknowledges that they will always be linked by Tate. Marlena states that bond will never break and says goodnight as she heads to her room.

John goes to the park where he is approached by Konstantin. John tells him to take a hike as this place isn’t safe for him. Konstantin questions him being worried about him and calls that thoughtful. Konstantin guesses John is meeting someone dangerous. John warns that he doesn’t want to mess with him and asks what he wants. Konstantin thanks him for coming and tells him to sit down because they are going to talk.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

am I glad you’re home! Yeah. Glad to be home. Took forever to get here. What can I do? Hold me.

[ Sighs ] I kept picturing you on that boat in paris, in the dark. I should have been there. No. Come on now. You were in the hospital, recovering, and thank god for that. Thank god.

[ Sighs ] And there was nothing you could do anyway, you know. Well, there are few feelings in life worse than feeling helpless. Yeah. So, by the time we got there, um, the search-and-rescue thing, that was well underway, and, uh… and then at some point, dante came over… and he said that they couldn’t find them anywhere. And all I could think was, “there’s a mistake. That can’t be. It just can’t be.” It’s — not my spencer. Well, you were in shock. You probably still are. Yeah, I guess. Yeah , trina and I stoodon the — the deck of the boat for a very long time. She held on to hope so tightly. But then… as the search went on, I mean, we could both just sort of feel it slipping away. It’s good you were there for each other. Yeah, everybody was really supportive. And then curtis and dante, they took care of everything, every detail. I’m so grateful for that. I don’t know if I thanked them. I’m sure you did, but we’ll do it again. Kevin, I feel like I blinked and nikolas was gone. And then ace. And now spencer.

[ Voice breaking ] It’s like my whole family is just fading away before my eyes. Are you sure sonny’s not gonna come back anytime soon? Yeah, I’m positive. We walked in the door from puerto rico, he got a phone call, and he turned around and left. I hope the call is about whatever’s going on in paris. Yeah, I heard about that. You must be worried sick about trina. Yeah, well, I’m beyond worried. It seems the universe decided that one crisis at a time isn’t enough. Sonny and I… are lucky to be alive. What the hell is going on? Who is after you and sonny? Good coverage. Yeah. All we can do is be prepared. I’m hoping all of these precautions turn out to be unnecessary. For our target’s sake, so am I. Ok ay, well, it looks likeyou got things covered. I think I’ve got it under control for the moment, anyway. Great. Well, you know, if anything changes, please don’t hesitate to call me. I don’t want to do that. I know, but until I hire a manager, I’m the cavalry. So please call me. You got it, boss. Thank you, thank you. Oh, my god! Oh, hi. What are you doing here? Why aren’t you in paris? I would have let myself in. Um, I have my key, but, um… josslyn: Hey, what’s wrong? Spencer’s dead. Is laura back? She is. Come in. Is it true? Spencer’s gone. You think we can tru

I think we can count on his opportunism. You know, he doesn’t do anything that doesn’t work to his advantage. You and I, we’re in a position to help him. O’neill, the gun dealer, is not. Brennan gave us the right referrals, or o’neill would have never agreed to meet us. You know what, keep it short and sweet. If you can get him talking about his clients that have bought guns from him, great. If not, then we make the buy, and we spring our trap. Well, the threat of federal charges should be enough to make o’neill give up whoever bought the rifle that was used to shoot curtis. I hope so.

[ Knock on door ] Oh, my god. I am so sorry. Did I spill coffee on you? Not at all. How about you? Are you okay? No, no, I’m fine, I’m fine. Oh, gosh. This is not how I want to welcome people to my place. You own this place? Yeah. When did you change the name? Oh, recently. Oh. I used to work here when it was kelly’S. Really? I’m john. I’m embarrassed.

[ Chuckles ] Carly spencer. Is it too late to welcome you back? Not at all. And thanks. It’s good to be back. Well, en– enjoy your meal. Leo: Aunt carly! Oh, my goodness! Oh, it’s so good to see you. I haven’t seen you in forever. I know. You know what that means? I get an extra hug!

[ Laughs ] Aww! Hey, honey, why don’t you, uh, why don’t you go on in there and look at your book? I’m going to talk to carly about getting you some breakfast. Are you gonna talk about extra powdered sugar on my waffle? What do you think? Is this my first time or what? No, it isn’T. No, it isn’T. Why don’t you sit at this table right there? Okay? See ya. Thanks, buddy. What’s up? Just so you know, we’re not just here for the sugar rush. I wanted to check on you. Why? Well, I read the fashion article in the city gazette today. Written by gemma, someone or other. Gemma… she came by the office and asked me for a comment. Is that article out already? As of this morning. “Drew cain is leading withhis heart, not with his head.” Okay, this has nina’s fingerprints all over it. She quotes an anonymous source. Yeah, well, we know who that anonymous source is. I wish I could say I didn’t agree with you. I was really hoping that nina was going to try and make peace. That’s what’s best for everyone. Is that why you kept nina’s secret? It was “best” for everyone? If dex hadn’t warned usin time for sonny and me to dive for cover, I wouldn’t be sitting here telling you this story right now. Was avery with you? She was in her room. She didn’t know that we were in any danger. She thought the gunfire was fireworks. Thank god. Are you okay? Yeah. Just a couple of scratches. Oh, that’s more than a scratch. Are you in pain? No, no. It’s fine. Like I told the doctor, it’s nothing a good stiff drink can’t fix. [ Chuckles ] Does sonny have any idea who did this? Not that he’s talked about in any detail. You know sonny — he doesn’t really discuss his concerns. Right? He just gets very, very, very quiet. No, he doesn’t eat, he doesn’t sleep. He just moves on and deals with the next thing. I don’t know how he does it. I get the feeling, though, that sonny suspects that this was a second attempt by the people behind curtis’s shooting. Well, that means they’re not going to stop until they succeed. Oh, no, nina, don’t — don’t worry, though, because you know that sonny only works with the very best, and he takes every precaution. I’ve just got to remind myself he wouldn’t be where he is if he took chances. Right. And he wouldn’t have been there for so long. Right? So relax.

[ Chuckles ] You’re not going to be a widow anytime soon. Oh, ava. I don’t even know if I’m still a wife. And before I could even move… esme and spencer were already in the water. They had helicopters and divers, but nobody could find them. But they’re still searching. They can’t be rescued. It’s been too long. It’s impossible. But we can bring him home. No. The — the police, um… they don’t expect to find their bodies. They, um… they think that, um… esme and spencer were carried out to sea. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.

[ Sobs ] I’m sorry that I told you about spencer on the phone. It’S… that’s an awful way to find out. No, any time would have been horrible. It’s good to face the truth. Any update from the french police? They searched for the mandatory 48 hours. After that point, spencer and esme were presumed dead. Their… their bodies were, uh, taken by the current out into the english channel, and then… …they’re just gone.

[ Sobbing ] You’re gonna be fine, okay? Are you doing alright? I have to remind myself to breathe. If there’s anything I could do… there isn’T. If something comes up, just… it’s not going to. It’s good of you to come by, sonny. Laura?

[ Sighs ] This is very difficult for me. I-I get it. I-it’s not just about spencer. This is also about my brother. The way that you laid hands on him, that was unconscionable. I don’t think you know who he is. Oh, I do. I do, sonny, I know what he’s capable of. I thought I knew you. I thought that you were a different man. I am. Yeah, well, I’m sure that he goaded you. And I hope that you just lost control because you nearly killed him with your bare hands. I made a mistake. He — he played me. I went after him. I shouldn’t have done that. Is cyrus worth your trouble? I don’t know. But you are. Our friendship is. Or that’s what I thought. Look…

[ Sighs ] I think we owe each other the truth. So, I’m going to give it to you now. I ha ve had a lot of violenceand bloodshed in my life, and I can’t take it anymore. I won’t take it anymore. Friendship or no friendship. I get that. I hope you do. Cyrus: I h ave every right to be here! Impeccable timing. That must be your brother. Dex: I can’t let you in. It is not up to you! It is, and I’m not letting you in.

Call off your dog, sonny.I’m here to see my family. It’s not a good time. That– that’s why I’m here, so I can help my sister walk through this. You could start by respecting your sister’s wishes. I have nothing but respect for my sister and the profound loss she’s suffered. How’d you find out about spencer? I watched over spencer when he was in pentonville, and I continue to stay abreast of my family’s movements. Whether they wanted you to or not? I lament that I wasn’t able to protect spencer in the end. And I grieve with you and for you, dear sister. Nobody wants to hear that. Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Stop it! Stop it! This is not comforting me. Go. Just go. I-I just hope that you can find some comfort knowing that there is a coming glory. Oh! Stop it! It’s good that you’re staying here with sonny. We ll, I don’t knowhow good it is, but it’s safe. Guards everywhere. Avery’s happy to see her father every day. Yeah. Yeah, of course. Sonny’s such a great dad. Well, he talks about his family all the time, that’s for sure. Does he say anything else? Well, we don’t exactly sit down at the end of the day and chat about what happened at the office, you know? Does he, um, ever talk about his marriage? Oh. No. So rry, but he wouldn’t talkabout that with me, of all people, right? But I’ve noticed that he’s still wearing his wedding ring, though, so… oh, hey. Well, that’s something. That’s easy to take off. Yeah. So, if he’s still wearing it, there must be something inside of him that’s not ready to give up on our marriage. [ Chuckles ] I hope so. I-I really hope that things work out for you and sonny, I do. But… I just think that maybe you ought to… …prepare yourself for a life without him. No, I can’t think about that. I can’T. No, I can’t lose sonny. I can’t lose this family because they’re my family, too. I mean, I can’t lose willow, wiley, and amelia. They’re my world. I know. I know. You have that beautiful gallery. You have avery. I don’t have crimson anymore. And if I lose sonny and my daughter, my grandchildren, I have nothing. I wasn’t trying to protect nina. Really? Then who were you trying to protect? Because nina was the only one who benefited from your silence. Hey. You like animals? I’m not supposed to talk to strangers. Mm. That’s a good rule. I taught my son the same rule. But I did tell him that it was okay to talk to law enforcement. I’m agent john. Are you really from the fbi? Yes, sir. Then I’m leo falconeri. Hmm. Well, it’s nice to meet you, leo falconeri.

[ Sighs ] Alright. Whoa! Is this necessary? Can’t be too careful. I want to make a buy, not commit a robbery. Prepare for somebody’s capacity, not their intentions. Covering all my bases. No kidding. Buy me dinner first. No wire, no gun. Good start. So, who referred you? Malloy. But you already know that. How do you know malloy? Book club. You? Yeah, that’s what I thought. It’s probably neither of our business. Okay, so, we got a six lug magnum-length action, arca rail on the handguard, multi-chamber. Now, this baby’s accounted for two of the highest, longest verified sniper shots in history. Alright, let’s talk price. It’s not a negotiation. Since when? You’re paying for quality and confidentiality. This thing is untraceable. You’ll never know where it came from, and I’ll never know how you chose to use it. So, do we have an agreement or not? I heard the sirens from police boats, and I turned away from spencer, just for a second. He was saying something, but then he gasped, and when I turned around… he had — he had the strangest look on his face. He looked surprised, and — and he had fear in his eyes. And then I saw esme with the needle, and then she tried to come for me. And then somehow spencer found enough strength to grab her. And they both went in the water.

alright, let’s do this. What’s the routing numberfor the money transfer? Oh, I don’t do business on personal devices. It’s got to be an encrypted transaction. Okay, fine. Just give me whatever device you want to use, and I’ll make the transfer. I prefer human touch. I’m aware. You can make a transfer directly to my accountant. How quaint. Well, is he outside? On his way here? Afraid not. We’re going to him. You can call me leo. And there’s my mom, arguing with aunt carly. What makes you think they’re arguing? How they’re standing. What they do with their arms. Kind of like a threat display from an animal. Humans are animals. That is very true. What kind of animals are in your book? All kinds. Are there bears in there? Do you like bears? I do. Bears are smart, and they’re strong. I wouldn’t want to meet one in the wild, but I like reading about them. Drew had already gone to prison. Your accounts had already been frozen. Nothing that I knew could have changed any of that. Carly, all I could do was stop the damage that nina had already done from going even further. And the fact that you and ned were also victims of nina’s lies — that just didn’t matter? Of course it mattered. And have you forgotten how furious you were at me for accusing your husband? Because I haven’T. I haven’t forgotten. I think about it every day, carly. Then why?! Why would you shield the woman who was actually responsible? Nina stood back and let ned take the blame. Well, I never in a million years would have predicted that drew would remove you from crimson and replace you with carly. Yeah, he’s not the same person he was before he went to prison. He’S…harder. Putting carly in a position that you have held successfully for years, that just — that adds a lot of uncertainty and risk to crimson, that for no good reason… well, making me suffer is reason enough in drew’s book. Well, he’s making choices that he’s going to regret. That’s for sure. Thank you. You’re welcome. I’m just stating the obvious here. Well, I appreciate that, but I’m also thanking you because, you know, you don’t always agree with my choices, but you understand the reason behind it, and you don’t make me suffer. You don’t punish me for them. Oh, nina, nobody in this room has a monopoly on bad choices, you know. I’m just very grateful for your friendship and your loyalty, and I love you so much. And thank you. I love you, too. And you’re welcome. I shouldn’t be bothering you with this. I mean, you’re worried about trina. Well, I can worry and listen to you at the same time. And you’re still coming down from being shot at and attacked. Well, the first time somebody shoots at you, it does come as a bit of a surprise. But with time and experience, you kind of get used to people trying to kill you. You know, I’m very impressed by your resilience, more than you will ever know. But you must have been afraid in puerto rico. Avery could have lost both of her parents. I can’t always look out for sonny anymore, no matter how much I want to. And, ava, you have to promise me — please, please, promise me that you and sonny will always look out for each other. When we were in greenland and spencer went missing. Everyone lost hope. Not me. I didn’t believe he was gone. And now? I want to believe so badly, joss. But… …something tells me that this time… …this time there won’t be a happy ending. I meant no harm. I-I give you my word. Sonny: We all know what that means. Let me walk out with you. Laura, I’ll call you, okay? You may not believe in my spiritual awakening, laura, but I pray that you believe this. I cared about spencer, as I care about you. Yeah, okay. That’s nice. Let’s go. Come on. I gave you a pass on the assault charges, sonny, but just the one. I’m a believer, not a saint. That makes two of us.

You okay? Well, what are you gonna do? Are you gonna stay here, or are you gonna go back to paris? Maybe I could take some time off. No, I don’t even think I can go back to paris ever again. Look, I don’t want a new roommate. You should come here, and you should live with me again.

[ Sighs ] That is so sweet, joss, but, um, I’m gonna live with my parents for now, and I’m gonna take a semester off. I can’t even think about school. Like, all of this just seems so, like, trivial. Like, what’s even important anymore? I understand. It’s hard to act like there’s a tomorrow when you lose someone you love. Is that what it’s like when you lost oscar? Uh, kind of. Um… but, you know, he was sick, so it was peaceful in the end. It’s different than what you just went through. But, um, the feeling like you can’t breathe and, uh… the way that your heart actually hurts?

[ Voice breaking ] That’s the same. I feel like… …it took so long for me and spencer to finally be together. And then we finally were, and we were in a happy place. And then, like, in a heartbeat, all of that was over. Ned and I looked at the situation, and we made a judgment call. Exposing n ina wasn’t gonnahelp anybody or fix anything, and a huge blow-up would have just made everything so much worse. So, that’s what you and ned decided? Well, he took a little convincing, but, uh… actually, could — could youhold on just one second? The belitung island tarsier has the largest eyes in proportion to its overall body weight of any mammal. Those eyes are huge. Mm-hmm. They use them to look for prey at night. Who’s your friend, leo? This is john. Hmm. Hello, john. Uh, why don’t you go and wash your hands before your waffle gets here? He’s a great kid. Yeah. Is he on the spectrum? He has asd, yeah. So does my son. I’m — I’m sorry for approaching your boy, but I could tell he was getting agitated, watching you and, um, aunt carly. Oh, god. Yeah, I should have realized that he would see us out there and that would have bother him. It’s fine. I think I distracted him. Yeah, it looks like you did. Thank you for that. Um, how old is your son? He’s grown now, living independently. So, he’s doing well? He’s doing great.

[ Cellphone rings ] Would you excuse me a moment? Yeah, of course, of course. What’s the word? Nobody moves until I get there. Everyone and their cat knows you don’t go to a second location.

[ Scoffs ] Suit yourself. Lo ok, there’s got to be a waywe can make this happen right here, right now. You know, it’s unusual for a customer to make this hard a sell. Why does this deal have to happen before I leave this room? I thought I was paying for confidentiality. At the moment, I don’t know what you’re paying me for. Okay, well, that’s too bad. Sorry we couldn’t get this done. Hey. We’re done till you tell me who you really are. Remove your hand, or I will remove it for you. I forgot to ask you — have you talked to, uh, josslyn? Uh, not recently. Alright, you should go to her because she should hear about spencer from you. Go ahead, go ahead. I have a lot of protection. Everything alright? Yeah. It’s fine. I just wasn’t expecting you back so soon, that’s all. You got a problem with me being back? No, just — I’m a little jumpy, right? For obvious reasons. So, when you left earlier in such a hurry, was that about trina and spencer? Turns out spencer’s dead. No.

oh, my god. Sonny, I’m so sorry. Are you okay? No. Trina. Trina’s safe. What happened to spencer? He went over the side of a boat in paris. He and esme. Oh, I know how much you loved your nephew. I can’t imagine what you’re going through right now. I can’t do this right now. This will help you keep up your strength. Thanks.

[ Sighs ] Thought a little edge-cutter was in order. Yeah. I already regret losing my cool with cyrus, but the conversation with sonny was long overdue. Well, don’t beat yourself up over cyrus. What happened was understandable, especially given the loss you’re feeling. But I’m not the only one, am I? Esme was your niece. Kevin, I know you did everything you could do for her. We both did. Yeah. You know, the way she was with ace… I am never going to believe that that was an act. It wasn’T. Esme’s love for ace was genuine. That may be the only pure emotion she ever felt in her life. When nikolas took ace away, she was isolated, afraid… angry. And she chose the worst possible course of action. But I was the one who talked her into turning herself in for breaking into wyndemere. If I hadn’t done that — there is no way you could have predicted that would happen. You didn’t know that esme had regained her memory, and there was no way to know that nikolas would come back and convince spencer to let him run off with ace. There was no way you could know that. I hope you’re hearing me when I say that. I guess if I’m being honest, all I can hear is silence in a house that used to be filled with voices.

[ Sighs ] Yeah. Okay, so, uh, leo’s order is — is next up, and I did tell them extra powdered sugar. [ Laughs ] So… um, for what it’s worth… you’re gonna crush the crimson. I know you are. You’re — you’re wicked smart. Nobody can match your instincts. You make being a leader look easy. That’s why all the employees at the metro court are so loyal to you. And why you are going to make a whole new generation of customers fall in love with bobbie’S. Thank you for saying that. It’s just the truth, which I will never hide from you in the future. My other clients paid for silence, same as you’re supposed to. Yeah, well, we’re not your other clients. Sit. Yeah, you’re not as different as you might tell yourselves. Must be something in the water here. You know what? I’m under no illusion as to who or what I am. Wait a minute — what do you mean, “there must be something in the water here”? I didn’t mean anything. We’re not the only ones in port charles buying from you, are we? I can’t talk about my clients. It’ll end my business. Einstein, your business is over. You’ve been peddling guns stolen from the wsb. So, you have a choice to make. You can either tell us what we want to know, or you wait for the bureau to get here, and they’ll pick you up. And they’re not going to sweep this under the rug. What do you want to know? We need the names of every person who purchased a weapon from that wsb shipment. Freeze! Guns down! Drop your weapons! Put it down! Fbi. Drop your weapons now!

I didn’t want to makeyour night worse by being here. That’s — that’s not what I wanted. I’m sorry, sonny. I know how you feel about nina being here. It doesn’t matter. Nothing really matters. Wow. And spencer… ah, yeah. I’m so sorry. That’s just terrible. Trina must be absolutely gutted. I’m gonna — I’m gonna call her. Thank you. Does cam know? I doubt it. Um, the word hasn’t gotten out yet. We got to tell him. Cam. Hi, uh, it’s me. Um… I’m here with trina. And we have to tell you something. Um… we need you to hear it from us. You come and say goodbye to your aunt carly. She’s got to get to work. Yeah. Are you two done arguing?

[ Scoffs ] Sometimes friends disagree. Yeah. Carly and I haven’t been on the same wavelength for a while, but, uh, maybe, uh, pretty soon we can try and fix that. I think we’ve already started. I could tell. Your body language is better.

[ Chuckles ] You know what? You’re right. [ Laughs ] How’s this for body language? Come here.

[ Laughs ] Aww!

[ Laughter ] Okay, my colleague and I, we’re going to lower our weapons. Do that. Nice and slow. Look, man, I’m just a bystander. Shut up! Okay. So, I take it that you are the agent in charge. Don’t you recognize me, anna? Wait. Jagger?

[ Knock on door ]

Billy: Hi. I’m sorry I’m late. How you doing?

Chelsea: I’m better now that you’re here.

Billy: Okay, so tell me what’s going on.

Chelsea: Connor just called. I don’t like the way he sounded.

Billy: I’m sorry. What happened?

Chelsea: It’s his grades again. His classwork is slipping. It’s so unlike him.

Billy: Well, I’ll go back to what you said a few days ago, right? He just needs time to settle in, to– to find a rhythm.

Chelsea: I don’t know. That’s what I thought at first, but now it’s not even about the grades. It’s how it’s all upsetting him. I mean, he’s so frustrated and embarrassed. He doesn’t understand what the teachers are saying, so then he goes to them to get help and he doesn’t understand it. He’s not absorbing it.

Billy: Chels, connor’s a very bright kid. I would go as far as to say, he’s ahead of the curve.

Chelsea: Well, that’s what we thought, but something’s getting in the way. And now, it’s really affecting his confidence.

Billy: Hey, we’ll handle it, okay?

Chelsea: We?

Billy: Yes, we. Always we. Now, did you talk to adam about this?

[ Adam sighs ]

Adam: This is supposed to be a specialized school that my son is attending, sally. Tuned into kids like connor who have unique emotional needs. They’re supposed to have faculty that’s trained to help them.

Sally: Yeah, and from what you’ve told me, they have an impeccable reputation, so I’m– I’m sure–

Adam: Look, shouldn’t they be on top of the academic issues, too? At least notice what this is doing to his mood? They should have identified the change, noticed what was causing it, and not let it get to this point.

Sally: Okay, look, maybe it hasn’t gone as far as you think? Okay, look, connor is an amazing kid who expects a lot of himself, you know? What if these is– these are just normal speed bumps that happen whenever school gets a little harder? How did connor sound when you talked to him?

Adam: I– I haven’t talked to connor. He called chelsea and chelsea called me. Comes down to who he feels safe talking to. And that’s not me.

Victor: Perhaps you misunderstood my question. What are you doing here?

Nikki: Victor, please. It’s nothing.

Jack: Yeah, nikki’s right. This is nothing. What is the problem?

Victor: First, you get the information out of my wife that our family was subjected to an enormous ordeal that’s none of your business. Then, you question me about it and now you’re here. What are you doing here?

[ Knocking on door ]

Tucker: I’m not here!

[ Knocking on door ] What?

Audra: Ooh, well, hello to you, too, tucker.

Tucker: Now’s really not the best time.

Audra: Your moods are relentless these days. Now, what’s wrong?

Tucker: Nothing I’m prepared to discuss at this time.

Audra: Oh, you don’t need to. This is about ashley, isn’t it? She’s yanking your chain yet again. And you’re letting it get to you.

[ Audra sighs ] Hey… it’s me! Your dry skin!

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Tucker: It seems ashley flew to paris to confront the waiter in the café where we had our argument.

Audra: Hm. Shouldn’t you be thrilled? I mean, you swore it happened as you said. Or did they tell her something different?

Tucker: No. Just as I predicted, the waiter confirmed my version of events. Which you would assume would clear the whole thing up, right? Or at least inspire her to call me and apologize. But no, she called me–

[ Laughs ] She called me to accuse me of paying off the waiter.

Audra: Unbelievable.

Tucker: I know. Thank you.

Audra: Not ashley, tucker. You. You’re unbelievable.

Tucker: Why?

Audra: It’s bad enough that any of this surprises you, but the fact that it throws you into a snit like this? It’s pathetic.

Tucker: Thanks.

Audra: What happened to, “oh, I’m done with this whole thing, audra. You know, I put it all in my rearview mirror. Everything is behind me now”?

Tucker: That has not changed.

Audra: But every ounce of your passion is dedicated to ashley. It’s boring and insulting.

Tucker: This just happened, audra, okay? And I understand that it’s a laughable accusation. In fact, I laughed at her when she first accused me of it. Of course, I didn’t pay off the waiter. It just– it gets under my skin, is all. I’ll get over it.

Audra: No, you won’T. That’s the point. You know, ashley is so embedded in your brain cells, in all of your psyche that there is no way that you’re going to be able to cut off this connection once and for all. She’s always going to have a hold on you, isn’t she?

Tucker: Why do you care so much one way or the other?

Chelsea: I already spoke with connor’s advisor and the headmaster at the school. They said they’re going to come up with a strategy as to what’s next. They’re thinking maybe he has a learning difference, and that’s at the root of all this.

Billy: Well, there’s a lot of kids that go through that. I mean, even adults do. And it sounds like you and the school are doing the right thing.

Chelsea: Yeah, I hope so.

Billy: Are you sad for him?

Chelsea: Yeah, I am. I mean, going to the school in the first place was connor’s idea. And he was thriving at first. He was meeting all these kids that he became friends with, that he could relate to.

Billy: And we’ll get him back to that point, I promise you.

Chelsea: I don’t know how I’m going to do that.

Billy: Well, everything you told me about this school, it sounds like he’s in a good spot. And if there’s something going on with him, they sound equipped to– to figure it out. And if they do come up with that conclusion, they’re going to support him. Both academically and emotionally.

Chelsea: You’re right. I mean, they’re the pros, and connor can’t be the only person struggling. I just–

[ Sighs ] Billy, he sounded so sad. And his voice was so flat. It just– it reminded me of that time not so long ago when things were really awful for him. And the love of his mom and dad couldn’t fix it. It brought me back to that time, and it broke my heart.

Sally: Connor loves you. You know that. So please don’t read too much into it that he reached out to chelsea first. Look, he knows you, adam. He knows that you would do absolutely anything for him. Including just maybe–

Adam: Maybe what?

Sally: Getting angry at the school and making sure they know it.

Adam: Is that so wrong? I mean, they have one job, to look out for my son.

Sally: You know kids. They don’t like to draw attention. Connor isn’t shutting you out. I’m sure he’s just trying to keep a low profile.

Adam: What– what if it’s deeper than that?

Sally: What do you mean?

Adam: He trusts chelsea more than he trusts me for a reason. I wasn’t around for so long. For years that– that really matter to kids. He lived without a dad and he got used to it. But, I mean, hey, I was just keeping up a family tradition.

Sally: You’re not victor.

Adam: No, it’s more than that. My father grew up without his father and I grew up without my dad. So now what, it’s connor’s turn? And, I mean, if he grows up resenting me for not being around, for feeling distant, or that he can’t depend on me, how can I blame him, or even chelsea? All of this is on me.

Nikki: Victor, I don’t know what you’re thinking–

Jack: No, no, nikki, I– I’ve got this. You don’t have to cover for me. Nikki’s right. There’s nothing covert, nothing mysterious about this. We ran into each other at an aa meeting.

Victor: What were you doing at the same aa meeting?

Jack: Perhaps you will remember that years ago, I fell into an opioid addiction.

Victor: What were you doing at the same aa meeting?

Jack: Aa is an important resource for all kinds of addictions, including pills.

Victor: You don’t say.

Jack: Nikki and I ran into each other at the meeting, we had some coffee, I walked her back here. That is what the hell I am doing. Simple as that. End of story.

When you shop wayfair,

Victor: Tell me, jack, you have a problem with me being concerned about my wife?

Jack: No. I want to know what part of your concern makes it all right for you to question my recovery and how I handle it.

Victor: Excuse me for a moment. You’re both addicts. You should be around him?

Nikki: Oh, victor, it was sweet of jack to go with me. This is where we simply say “thank you.”

Victor: For your information, I’m very happy that you’re still going to those meetings.

Nikki: Well, I– I need to. Not just for myself, but for everyone I love so that you all don’t worry about me.

Victor: Darling, I’m always worried about you. What happened today to upset you so much?

Nikki: You know that phone call you got last night at society?

Victor: What about it?

Nikki: That was about the fire at jordan’s prison, wasn’t it? And you didn’t say anything because you wanted to protect me.

Victor: It’s because I didn’t have enough information. I think this is the time when jack has to be on his way, right?

Nikki: Oh, yes, we’ve kept you long enough. Thank you again for escorting me back.

Jack: Anytime. Victor, always a pleasure. Nikki, let’s not let running into each other at a meeting be the next time we see each other.

Nikki: Oh, definitely not. Let’s arrange for a lunch.

Jack: Yeah, I’d like that.

[ Jack sighs ]

Victor: How’d you find out about the fire?

Nikki: Well, darling, it’s all over the internet.

Victor: Ah. I had wanted to tell you. It must have frightened you.

Nikki: Oh, it was shocking. A fire that large and so much damage? It just seems like jordan takes chaos and destruction with her wherever she goes. Apparently, she can’t just be locked up and forgotten, because now she is in my head and coloring every part of our lives.

Victor: She’ll fade out of our lives, I promise you. What I don’t like is that you need to confide in jack abbott. You know I don’t like it.

Audra: You don’t get to turn this around on me, put me on defense. This is about you, your fixation and your complete idiocy when it comes to ashley.

Tucker: It sounds like your fixation, actually. Why does it make you so irate?

Audra: Tucker, I left newman media for my future, okay? For our future. Because of your dramatic pitch that I should run glissade.

Tucker: I’m so sick of your I quit newman media story. That’s it. Nothing more to hide.

Audra: Oh, is this your offense as defense? I tell you you’re being a jerk and you’re accusing me of lying? Look, I told you, I saw the writing on the wall at newman media. I hit a dead end and I don’t do dead ends.

Tucker: Yeah, I’ve noticed.

Audra: And it wasn’t just the job offer. It was everything else you said.

Tucker: Which was what again?

Audra: Essentially…

[ Audra sighs ] …That I deserve the world and you want me to have it.

Tucker: Right. And you turned me down.

Audra: And I apologized.

Tucker: I seem to recall that. But you’re avoiding the question, aren’t you? Why do you care so much about how I feel about ashley?

Audra: Because before you got sucked back into her vortex, I could almost rely on you. Now, you bow to her every whim, which forces me to bow to yours. You know, I can’t believe I tricked myself into believing you meant a word you said to me.

Tucker: I did. I still do.

Audra: I’m what’s good in your life? I make your heart race. I’m the one you want to be with.

Tucker: Mm-hmm.

Audra: But here you are, desperately hoping ashley accepts your version of paris and she magically comes back to you. It’s insulting, tucker.

Tucker: Audra–

Audra: Look, I’m right here in front of you and I still don’t come first. That’s why I care. That’s why it matters to me, tucker. You know what? You can find someone else to jerk around while you pine away for ashley. You know, your goddess, your dream. I’ve had enough.

I have type 2 diabetes, but I manage it well

Tucker: Don’t go. Hold on. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. I’m sorry. You’re right.

Audra: I’m right about what?

Tucker: It was unfair of me to jerk you around like that. I meant every word I said about how I feel about you, audra. It’s– it’s profound. It’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced.

Audra: But?

Tucker: But you are right. This ashley thing does have a hold on me, but it’s not because I’m pining for her.

Audra: Then, what is it?

Tucker: It’S… I’m just afraid it’s going to be round two of her being convinced that I did something I did not do and then becoming obsessed by it. And she’s going to show up and she’s going to say, “why are you doing this to me, tucker? You’re just trying to punish me, tucker.” And then, what’s going to be next after this one? Call me petty, call me childish if you like, but I want her to confess that she is the one who has done wrong here, so we can be done with it all.

Audra: She’s never going to do that, tucker. Think about it. What did ashley do when that waiter backed up your version of the story instead of hers? You said it yourself. Did she call you to apologize? No, she didn’T. She accused you of bribing him. So, tell me the truth. Is she right? Did you do it?

Chelsea: I just want to run to connor’s school and hold on to him for dear life and tell him everything’s going to be fine. And tell him that his mom will take care of any problem he ever has for the rest of his life.

Billy: I hear you. Not very practical, but I do understand the instinct.

Chelsea: I know. But you’re right. He’s in the right place with the right people. He just has to trust that this is manageable and he has to work through it. And he’s got great friends there. He– he loves basketball, which keeps him moving. He just– he just has to trust his teachers that he’s going to get through this.

Billy: Any chance you told all that to adam?

Chelsea: I did.

Billy: Mm-hmm.

Chelsea: And I’ll give you one guess how he reacted. He blamed the school. He blamed the faculty. Oh, he even blamed walnut grove for not catching things sooner. And then he threatened to go straight to the school and pull connor out immediately.

Billy: Well, that’s adam for you, right? Any doubt of a situation and all you do is start a war. Except in this case, right now, connor is the one that’s going to get hurt.

Adam: The last thing that I ever wanted was for my son to feel like his father deserted him. But who knows? Maybe it’s already too late. I mean, look at where we are. He needs me. And true to form, where am I?

Sally: Here. Calmly talking it through with someone who thinks you’re a wonderful father.

Adam: Even though my son’s either worried that I’m gonna flip out or he just doesn’t even want to talk to me at all?

Sally: You’ll never convince me that your son doesn’t adore you, adam.

Adam: Gosh, I wish you had known my mother, sally. She was the best mom and the best person that anybody could have dreamed of. You would have thought a little of her magic would have rubbed off on me. I mean, how I was raised by that woman and became such a lousy parent.

Sally: Okay, enough. I’m going to stop you right there, all right? I cannot let you beat up on yourself like this.

Diane: Hi.

Jack: Hi.

Diane: Tough time with nikki? I’m– I’m sorry.

Jack: Nikki was doing just fine until victor showed up.

Diane: [ Sighs ] I’m sure that didn’t go over very well.

Jack: Yeah, he wasn’t happy to see me, I’ll tell you that. He insisted that I tell him what I was doing in nikki’s office, thinking I was up to something, whatever that was.

Diane: Well, what’d you tell him?

Jack: I told him a story about how I ran into nikki at an aa meeting, we went for a cup of coffee and I walked her back to the office.

Diane: Did he buy it?

Jack: Well, he dropped it, thank god. Look, sooner or later, keeping the information that I am nikki’s sponsor away from him is going to blow up in her face. I keep trying to convince her of this, but she says she doesn’t want to let him down. She doesn’t want to appear weak.

Diane: This is putting you in a terrible position, jack.

Jack: Oh, it was everything in me not to come clean when he pressed, but nikki was standing right there. I couldn’t just betray her. She’s fragile enough as it is.

[ Diane sighs ] Lord knows I could fill a library with negative things I could say about him, but no one can doubt the depth of that man’s love for his wife. I just wish she’d trust it. I wish she’d tell him what’s going on. Right now, this deception is freaking her out.

Diane: Well, selfishly, I wish she’d come clean for another reason. If victor finds out that you’re her sponsor some other way than from her, it’s not just going to blow up in her face. It’s going to blow up in yours as well. And then the epic battle between victor newman and jack abbott will start up all over again.

Nikki: You said you didn’t tell me about the fire because you wanted more information. What have you learned?

Victor: Nothing as of yet. But I don’t want you to allow that woman to drive you to drink again, all right? She’s not going to harm you again. I promise you.

Nikki: What if jordan set the fire as a means to escape? I wouldn’t put it past her.

Victor: I promise you this. If she comes around, tries to do any harm to you or to our family, she will not live long enough to regret it. I would’ve called yesterday.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

When your gut is

out of balance,

Nikki: Why doesn’t your confidence spill over into me at times like this? You’re always so sure that no matter what happens, you can conquer it.

Victor: Yeah, I will. And so will you.

[ Nikki sighs ]

Nikki: Are you sure?

Victor: I’m sure, my baby, okay?

Nikki: Even when I’m not.

Victor: My sweet love, if you feel that you don’t have the strength, you lean on me.

[ Nikki sighs ]

Victor: Come on, my baby. I’m tired. Let me take you home, okay?

Nikki: As tempting as that sounds, I– I can’t go home yet. I have so much work to do now that audra’s gone.

Victor: Oh, well, I’ll just make a few phone calls and we’ll find a replacement for her in no time.

Nikki: Oh, thank you, darling, and I– I know that you could, but I’m already lining up candidates.

Victor: Are you not taking on too much?

Nikki: No, no. This is what I want to do. This time I want to personally vet them, not just on their skills, but compatibility.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Nikki: So, I am fine. I want to work. I need to work.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Nikki: You of all people should understand that.

Victor: I do. So, I’ll leave you alone now. I’ll be in my office if you need me, okay?

Nikki: Okay.

Victor: I love you.

Nikki: I love you.

Victor: Whatever happens, you come to me, all right?

Nikki: I will, darling.

Victor: All right. See you later.

Nikki: Okay.

Jack: Victor can be infuriating, but after all these years, it’s more about habit than it is about actual hostility.

Diane: Unless he’s provoked. I mean, it might just be habit for you, but for him, it would be very real.

Jack: Wow, you really are concerned I’m going to start world war iii, aren’t you?

Diane: Look, victor can be charismatic and charming when he wants to be, but I have seen up close what a bully he can be when he’s angry.

Jack: Yeah, you and i have both seen his ire up close.

Diane: I can’t believe I was married to him.

Jack: I can’t believe I was married to nikki.

[ Diane chuckles ] And here we are in our correct configuration.

Diane: Yes, but unlike victor and me, you and nikki have remained close. And I’m– I’m sure she’s glad she has you.

Jack: If somebody would have told me all those years ago that victor and I would tolerate each other enough to have a drink together, I would have laughed in their faces.

Diane: Well, maybe he’ll surprise you. I mean, you said yourself that he loves his wife very much. Hopefully, he’ll be as dedicated to keeping the peace as you are for her sake.

Jack: If I could just convince nikki to tell him why it is I am hanging around so much. Though it had to be difficult for her to watch me lie my way through that cover story, knowing how I feel about it. Maybe she told him after I left. Think I should text and find out?

Diane: Yeah, couldn’t hurt.

Jack: Got a voicemail from traci. Two hours ago. I asked her to call me with any news about ashley, and of course, I was too busy with nikki.

Diane: Is ashley all right?

Jack: I guess we’re about to find out.

Tucker: No, I did not bribe the waiter, audra, and I didn’t trash the place. Ashley will just– she won’t let up. I’m sick of it.

Audra: Okay.

Tucker: You weren’t there, she was. She witnessed everything that went down and she’s still acting as if she’s the injured party here.

Audra: Okay, just stop, okay? I can’t do this anymore. I am done listening to you obsess about ashley. You wanted to know why I care so much? I told you. You say that you want me, and always, forever. But I am still standing here when I could have walked out that door. And still, the only thing on your mind is ashley. You know, it’s time for you to pick a side. Right here, this minute.

Tucker: What are you saying?

Audra: Either cut ashley out of your life once and for all or never see me again.

Billy: Look, maybe it’s best I just butt out at this point.

Chelsea: What? No. Why? You’re a great sounding board.

Billy: Maybe, but I cannot be objective when it comes to adam. I’m sorry.

Chelsea: Billy, you didn’t say anything shocking. You just don’t want adam to fly off the handle and make things worse for connor.

Billy: No, I don’T. I’m not saying he doesn’t love his kid. Of course, he does. I wouldn’t doubt that for a minute, but–

Chelsea: No, of course not. I mean, I trust that adam loves his child very much. What I don’t trust is adam’s judgment when it comes to taking a beat before reacting, especially when it involves his son.

[ Sighs ] I told him we just have to stay calm and try to not make things worse for connor.

Billy: Is he going to listen to you?

Chelsea: Probably not. Adam’s probably already halfway there.

Sally: Do you want to know what I think?

Adam: Please, tell me.

Sally: I think you’re a pretty great dad. You’re supportive, unselfish.

[ Adam sighs ]

Adam: How do you figure that?

Sally: It’s not as if you sent connor away, adam. He chose a school that he thought could help him. You and chelsea looked into it. You made sure that it was what he needed. And even though it’s miles away, you showed him that you have faith in him. You trust his judgment and you respect his feelings. And ever since then, you have been in constant contact with him, calls, visits, video chats.

Adam: Yeah. And sometimes it’s still not enough. For me, you know, not for him. I miss my son.

Sally: That’s my point. You could have been selfish and said, “I don’t care what you want. I want you here in genoa city.” And other than this current bump in the road, connor has been loving every minute of it. Look at that gift that you gave him.

Adam: I know. It’s just– it’s so hard to know what is right. Like, am I going to find out in a few years when he says he never wants to see me again?

Sally: It’s never going to happen. I grew up without either one of my parents because they couldn’t be bothered to stick around. Do you know what it would mean to me if just one of them cared enough to show up and stand by me the way that you are standing by connor? So, don’t you dare think that it doesn’t matter to him. I can see it every time he looks at you. It matters more than you can ever imagine.

Traci: I’m so worried about her. She’s not answering her phone. If you hear from her, will you please let me know? And I will do the same for you.

[ Traci sighs ] Oh, jack. All right, um, I love you. Bye.

Jack: Damn it.

Diane: Nothing from ashley in there?

Jack: No missed calls, no voicemails, no texts.

Diane: This must have shaken her to her core.

Jack: And the waiter confirmed tucker’s version of the story of what happened at the cafe. How is that possible?

Diane: Well, only two ways I can think of. Either ashley is misremembering–

Jack: No. Look, there is no way she would make up an encounter like that.

Diane: Or tucker has found a way to pay off the waiter to back him up.

Tucker: I don’t react well to ultimatums, audra. You know me better than that.

Audra: Trust me, I know. I know you better than you know yourself.

Tucker: Oh, yeah?

Audra: Yeah.

Tucker: If that were true, then you’d understand why I’m so conflicted here.

Audra: Oh, I understand perfectly. You’re so conflicted because you’re too stubborn to accept the fact that ashley is just a fantasy, an imaginary ideal you refuse to let go of. You know, she’s not your reality. I am. Or at least. You keep telling me that. But I know what this is really about.

Tucker: Do you?

Audra: Yeah.

Tucker: Enlighten me.

Audra: You’re clinging to this whole ashley thing not because you love her, but because you can’t stand to lose. It makes you crazy. It turns your image of yourself upside down. Well, deal with it. Right here, right now, you are losing. You’re losing big. You’re losing me.

Tucker: No, no, no. Don’t go.

Audra: Then make a damn choice. I love your dress.

Tucker: Audra? I choose you.

Billy: Hey. What are you thinking right now?

Chelsea: I’m just thinking I am glad I didn’t run off to see connor when I was upset. I’m grateful you talked me down.

[ Sighs ] The problem is, no one is going to be able to calm adam down and I’m scared of what he might do in the name of protecting his son.

Billy: We’ll handle it, okay? We’ll handle it together, no matter what. And just to be safe, we’re not going to do coffee for the rest of the day, okay? Tea maybe, but no more coffee.

Chelsea: [ Chuckles ] Deal. You know, you’re really, really good for me.

Billy: Correction, we’re good for each other.

[ Chelsea sighs ]

[ Phone ringing ]

[ Phone ringing ]

Traci: Oh. Jack, you got my message.

Jack: Please tell me you have heard from ashley.

Traci: I have, finally. She just called a few minutes ago. She apologized for running out on me. She said she needed time to process and to plan.

Jack: Process and plan? What does that mean?

Traci: I have no idea, but she’s on her way back here to meet me at the bistro.

Jack: Wait, is that a good idea, going back there?

Traci: I wasn’t going to argue with her, jack.

Jack: Is she hoping to get a different answer from someone on staff there?

Traci: Well, if she is, I wouldn’t count on it.

Jack: Diane suggested that maybe tucker worked out a deal with this guy.

Traci: You know, ashley thought the same thing and she is trying desperately to believe it.

Jack: You don’t sound too convinced, though.

Traci: [ Sighs ] I’m not– I’m not sure of anything right now. Except this, I will watch out for our sister. And I will keep you posted. And I think I’m going to do a little investigating of my own.

Jack: Okay. Just be careful and be safe. We are talking about tucker mccall here.

Traci: [ Scoffs ] Will do. Love you.

Jack: Much love right back. Ashley is on her way to the cafe to meet traci there.

Diane: At least we know they’ll be together.

Jack: Oh, some part of me wants to get to the airport and fly to paris to be there for my sisters. Another part of me realizes nikki needs me here right now.

Victor: Hi. Listen to me. I want you to keep an eye out for my wife at all times. And I want you to make sure that she is safe. Is that clear? Another issue. Until we have a list of all the people who died in that fire up in oregon, I want you to keep a very, very close eye out for any glimpse of that woman, that jordan woman. You know who I’m talking about, right? You inform me as soon as you even get a glimpse of her. Is that clear? Okay.

[ Phone ringing ]

[ Phone ringing ]

Nikki: Hello.

[ Big band music plays ]

[ Phone ringing ]

[ Big band music plays ]

[ Phone ringing ]

[ Ringing continues ] Oh, god! I can’T. I can’T. I can’T. I can’T.

[ Nikki sighs ]

Announcer: Next week on the young and the restless…

Tessa: I was surprised that you wanted to meet with just me and not mariah.

Abby: I have a proposition for you.

Danny: I haven’t seen you since, uh…

Christine: Since I saw you kissing phyllis.

Victor: Baby?

Nikki: Oh, god, victor.

Victor: Yes.

Nikki: Oh, no. No, no, no. What did you do?

Thomas: Let’s do it, hope. Spend our life together. Take that ring off your necklace. Put it on this finger. The way we look at each other. We love each other. We want this. Raising the kids together, husband and wife. Say yes, hope. Say you’ll marry me.

Eric: Well, here’s what I’m hoping for. A positive prognosis tomorrow when we see the doctor. That’s what I want.

Donna: But you had some good ones back at the hospital.

Eric: I know positivity is very important. And I feel better. I feel– I feel better every day. I really do. Although, it’s, uh… it’s not like I’ll be running a marathon again very soon.

Katie: Again?

[ Donna scoffs ]

Eric: All right, ever, if you want to get technical about it. No, no, I do– I do feel better every day. That’s a good sign, right?

Donna: Of course, it’s a good sign, yes. Look, all the tests and the blood work and the meds, it’s all gonna be worth it.

Eric: Yeah.

Donna: Because this procedure worked and tomorrow, you’re gonna have a good prognosis.

Katie: You’ve been through so much. You both have. If anyone deserves a little good news, it’s the two of you.

Luna: First night in your new rental. You excited?

Rj: Yeah. Less about the place, though. More who I’m with.

Luna: Well, what I’m excited for is that we get to finally be alone together.

Rj: Finally.

Luna: Finally. [ Chuckles ]

[ Knocking ]

Rj: I’m just kidding. I’m joking.

Luna: Oh, my god.

[ Both laughing ]

Rj: We are absolutely… alone.

Katie: There’s no reason to think that tomorrow won’t be good. You’ve been back to the hospital several times now for check-ups, and finn is taking remarkable care of you.

Donna: Yeah, he certainly is. And I am eternally grateful to him and bridget.

Katie: Yeah.

Eric: Yeah, we all are. And we will continue to be.

Donna: You are not going anywhere, okay? You still have a lot more living to do, okay? Come here.

Rj: You know, I remember the first time that I met you.

Luna: What, at um, at your grandfather’s house?

Rj: Mm-hmm. I tried to hide it, but you took my breath away.

Luna: Well, I was too busy being a nervous intern walking into the forrester estate, so…

Rj: You know, I knew there was something special about you. I just had to prove it. Like, I just had to figure out what it was, but… now I’ve got all the proof I need. I feel so close to you.

Luna: I feel close to you, too. I always feel so safe and secure whenever I’m with you.

Hope: I adore you. And you are so, so important to me in my life. But thomas, I– I asked for some time and I still need some time.

Thomas: It’s okay. I understand.

Hope: Do you?

Thomas: Yeah, no, I do. We have plenty of time. Look, when you say yes, I want you to be fully committed to the idea of us. 100% in. And that’s gonna happen. I know it, ’cause I– I can see how we look at each other, how we love each other. Hope… I know we’re gonna spend the rest of our lives together. Hey… it’s me! Your dry skin!

Thomas: How settled in are you?

Hope: What do you mean?

[ Thomas clears throat ]

Thomas: Just, uh, I’m wondering if I can convince you to head over to granddad’s with me.

Hope: Of course, but is something wrong? I mean, I know he’s getting some news from the doctor’s tomorrow.

Thomas: Yeah, no, I mean, I don’t think anything’s wrong. Uh, look, my dad texted, and he was planning on going over to granddad’s with your mom, actually, but they’re stuck on one of those international calls that never ends, and so he asked me to go instead.

Hope: Well, I’d be happy to. And honestly, I think eric is probably feeling a little nervous about whatever he’s gonna find out tomorrow, so I’d love to be there for him. It would be nice for us to show a little family support. What? [ Laughs ]

Thomas: Just you. You’re so beautiful. Inside and out. It’S… every time I think about you, I think about your name, and… I know it’s cheesy. It is, but I want hope. Hope for the future. And that makes me think about the hope for our future. The future that we’re gonna share someday.

Zende: I was thrilled to get your text. I was like, party across the courtyard? Of course, I’m walking over.

Eric: No, no, I didn’t say “party,” I didn’t say that. I just thought if he wasn’t busy, he could…

Donna: Uh-huh. What’s this about a party?

Eric: No, well, ridge called and said that thomas might be coming over. And I thought that since katie’s here already, that we could just kind of have a get-together like that.

Katie: Well, I say, yes. Let’s turn the music on. This place just got a lot more interesting.

Donna: Okay, okay, all right. You should be resting.

Eric: Yeah.

Zende: It looks like I got you in trouble, granddad. Maybe I should just head on back to the office.

Eric: No, no, no, no. We have something to celebrate. I’m going to the doctor tomorrow, I’m gonna get a positive prognosis about all this stuff here.

Zende: Yeah, you got this, granddad.

Eric: Yeah, I do. Especially surrounded by this wonderful family.

Zende: Is rj coming too? I assume you texted him.

Eric: No, rj has plans tonight. Something with luna.

Luna: Mm, that was so good. Thank you. I mean, delivery from my favorite restaurant? You’re getting all the brownie points tonight.

Rj: I do have a confession, though. I was nervous about that order. I didn’t know if I got it right.

Luna: No, you did good. I mean, you know me so well.

Rj: Yes, I do. I, um, yeah, I still feel like I have a lot to learn, though.

Luna: What, about my food preferences?

Rj: Yes, yes. Those specifically. Just– you’re just beautifully fascinating.

Luna: Fascinating?

Rj: Yeah. [ Chuckles ] You know, I’ve– I’ve traveled the world and I’ve met so many people. Nobody has been able to capture my imagination and my heart like you do. You jimmys john’s still waking up

[ Hope laughs ]

Hope: I mean, it still amazes me. Every time we come in here, it’s like you’re happier and healthier than ever. I still couldn’t believe it when we walked in the other day and you were playing the piano.

Thomas: I know. Best feeling ever.

Eric: I got through a little bit of it before I had to quit.

Thomas: You definitely did.

Eric: Well, I’m doing better. I’m just– I’m not completely cured. I think I have a long way to go. I really do.

Donna: Well, hopefully when we hear from finn, it’ll be the first step in the right direction in a full recovery.

Eric: Yeah.

Hope: Um, actually, do you mind if I text rj and invite him over? I just– I think he would really love to be here.

Katie: I think he has plans tonight.

Eric: Yeah, a special evening with luna that I insisted he not change.

Thomas: Ah. Is he, uh, settling into the new digs?

>>Donna: Didn’t he, uh, rent from bill spencer?

Hope: Yep, the beach house.

Zende: Lucky for rj.

Eric: I agree with that. I think that’s terrific. I mean, any young person needs to move out of their parents’ house sooner or later. And with what’s going on with– with him and luna, you can imagine the, uh, the memories they’re gonna make. Young love. It’s wonderful.

Luna: I cannot believe my life right now. I mean, is this– is this really happening? I– I– I– get an internship at forrester, which is like my dream job. And then what happens? I meet the coolest guy. The guy that I just walked hand-in-hand with at the beach. In malibu. Malibu. Like, is this really happening right now? It’s like… in the blink of an eye, my entire world shifted.

Rj: I feel the exact same way. My world shifted, and… god, you’re just beautiful.

[ Luna gasps ]

Luna: Oh, my god. How did you…

Rj: I, uh, I just– I just wanted this to be beautiful. I wanted it to be everything that you ever imagined.

Luna: You’re everything I ever imagined. So kind and handsome and funny. Who understands me and… trusts and respects me. And loves me.

Rj: I love you.

Luna: I love you too. Hi, I’m greg.

Eric: Look at me waxing on about, uh, young love. Sometimes, the love you find later in life can be even more fulfilling, darling.

Thomas: Hey, zende.

Zende: Yeah?

Thomas: Did you, by chance, uh, get those designs over to rj, like I asked?

Zende: I did.

Thomas: Yeah? I actually got a good look at his new love shack. I was a bit surprised to learn that rj is renting a multimillion dollar house on the beach. He’s, uh, he’s an incredibly lucky guy, so I guess you can’t blame him for that, right? Everything just seems to fall into his lap. Including luna.

Hope: Oh. Well, I’m sure luna feels lucky to be with a sweet man like rj, and it is pretty clear that they care about each other.

Zende: Sure. Yeah, clear as day.

Luna: Rj, that was… wow.

Rj: Are you okay?

Luna: Yeah. That was amazing. You were amazing. I used to dream about this, you know? My first time, and what it would be like. But what we just shared, that was… that was more than I could have ever imagined.

Rj: You’re so beautiful.

Luna: I’ve never felt closer to anyone than I do to you right now. I just– I want you to hold me in your arms and never let me go.

Rj: I love you.

Luna: I love you too.

Days of Our Lives logo

Transcript provided by Thane and Suzanne

THIS STILL NEEDS SOME EDITING!

Well, Doc, after the day I had, that dinner really hit the spot. Thanks.

It’s especially good when it’s delivered warm right to your front door. I’m sorry you had a rough day.

Mm. I’m just putting out fires. How about you?

The same.

Yeah. Listen to that.

Oh. Silence.

Beautiful, isn’t it?

Oh, you would not believe the day I’ve had. I spent the whole day just putting out–

Fires? Yeah.

Yeah.

So what can I get you, kid? I got plenty of leftovers from dinner. Would you like some?

No. You know what? I could probably use one of those non-alcoholic beers, but I think we’re out.

Actually, I picked up some on the way home, so I’ll be right back.

Dad, thanks.

Yeah.

Believe him? Everything that’s on his plate, and he’s thinking about me.

Your father is a very kind man.

Yes, he is. I kind of wish I had his generosity of spirit. And I also wish I was as good a dad as he is.

[soft dramatic music]

And we just need one more.

You, me, Maggie–

[tense music]

My mom is bringing someone.

When did that happen?

When you were in the shower. It’s Konstantin.

Well, then, we don’t need an extra space, love, because Konstantin is one man that I will not share a dinner table with.

What is this thing? What does it mean to Steve and to John?

[knocking]

Hey, you almost ready? We should be going.

Come in.

The car is out front. I don’t want to keep Sarah and Xander waiting.

Are you sure this is a good idea?

Why wouldn’t it be?

Well, Xander is not exactly my biggest fan, and for very good reason.

“She looked into his steely blue eyes, “now dark with desire and a longing that echoed her own. “He kissed her with a fierce intensity, “his tongue exploring her mouth as his hands touched her, caressing her curves.” Hmm. “As he lifted her up, she gasped, her breath ragged, “her legs wrapping around him as he pressed her against the wall.”

[knocking] Okay. All right.

Delivery for Miss Ava Vitali.

You’re my sushi delivery guy?

That’s me.

Oh, you don’t really look like a Gunther.

Fun fact, my middle name is actually Gunther. Stefan O. Gunther DiMera. But don’t worry, I took care of the guy. I tipped him even though the genius seemed to be a little confused on where to find the numbers on the doors. I hope you got enough in here for two.

Oh, you came for dinner.

Mm. [chuckles] No, I didn’t. Actually, I came here to drink with you.

Well, it seems like you already started drinking without me.

Yeah. Well, I don’t like drinking alone. And I thought to myself, I bet my little paisana– I bet she probably has a bottle of wine open by now. And lo and behold, so what do you say?

Do I really have a choice?

Come on. Come on. We can commiserate about how crappy our lives are.

All right. Look, I mean, what else do I have to do tonight? I’ll get you a glass.

I mean, this could be the nail in this guy’s coffin. I’ll be off in one second. I’m sorry, that wasn’t to you, Chad. Yeah. I mean, I really think this is going to be our Pulitzer. Okay, I’ll pick you up at : a.m. tomorrow. See you then.

[phone beeps] Hey.

Hey.

Hey. Sorry I couldn’t take your call earlier. I was–it’s been a crazy couple hours.

Clearly, a good crazy.

Yeah. But better seeing you. I’m glad you’re here.

I came because I couldn’t find my earbud. And this is the last place I remember having it.

Oh, yeah. Yeah. Okay.

Maybe it’s on the nightstand.

Yep. Good call. I don’t see it here. Not there.

[both chuckle] Oh, yeah. Hey, look.

Oh.

There it is.

I wonder how it got there.

I mean, these things are–you know.

Thank you. Wow, so you’re picking up Chad tomorrow at : a.m.? It’s like the crack of dawn. Where are you two going?

[soft dramatic music]

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

Brady, don’t be so hard on yourself. You’re a wonderful father.

Yeah? Is that why my daughter is indifferent to me now and my son’s in juvie rehab?

Here you go, buddy. Like I said, plenty of leftovers if you’re hungry.

Yeah, I’m good. Thank you.

Yeah.

[doorbell rings]

Oh, that’s probably Theresa. We have to sign some consent forms for Tate’s youth correctional wilderness trip. Hi.

Hey. Hi. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to interrupt your evening.

No, no, no, not at all.

Theresa, please come in.

I’m just here because I have to send this registered mail in the morning. You used to be able to do it online. But some tech-savvy teens hacked the juvie system, so–

Brady tells us that he’s doing very well.

Yeah. So we hear.

So we hear, yeah. I think we’re actually going to get to see him with our own eyes soon–a parental visitation.

Yeah, it’s going to be a very long few weeks.

Yes, I’m sure you’ve missed him so much. We’ve missed him as well.

Yeah. You know I think of all the times where I got really impatient with him or he would annoy me. My God, what I would give to just have him annoy me now and be able to embrace him and just tell him I love him.

[somber music]

Well, I understand very well not being able to forgive someone who put their daughter in danger, even if indirectly, which is why I don’t know whether Xander will ever trust me, let alone feel comfortable with me.

Well, you’re going to have to change his mind, Konstantin, especially since he’s going to be a very big part of my daughter’s life for a very long, long time.

Are you implying that I am also to be part of your life for a very long, long time?

Oh, no. No, I didn’t mean that.

What did you mean?

You know, it’s time to go. I don’t want to be late for dinner.

[soft dramatic music]

Come on, tell me. What are you and Chad up to?

Mm.

Hey, I’m your PR consultant. I need to know.

[chuckles]

Okay, okay, okay. I can tell you this much. We got a big lead about the drug crisis. And Chad and I are digging into it tomorrow.

I’m intrigued.

It’s got potential to be a major breakthrough– something that could get “The Spectator” national recognition.

Well, a recognition for you as well. I’m dying to hear more.

Well, you’ll have to wait till it’s in writing.

Fine. I will try to be patient. And now that I’ve got my earbud… I’ll be going.

Yeah. Wait. You have plans? I got a newly stocked mini bar chock full of those overpriced little liquor bottles. We could order some dinner. Stay.

[sultry music]

Mm-hmm. There you go. You want some?

No, I actually prefer to drown my sorrows on an empty stomach.

Suit yourself. It’s good.

What you got there?

Cucumber.

What you got there? What is that? You’re doing a little light, uplifting reading? Are you? Huh? Rubbing the hot oil all over your body got you in the mood?

You know that phone call earlier– you know I was messing with you, right?

I knew that.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Okay, because it didn’t really seem like you did– not at first, at least.

Hmm.

Yeah. At first, it seemed like, you know, you believed me. And I kind of enjoyed that. I kind of enjoyed just making you a little crazy.

Oh, yeah? Well, that’s okay because I’m already halfway to crazy these days.

You really miss Gabby, huh?

Every minute of every day.

I–I can relate. I mean, that is, to, you know, missing someone.

Yeah?

Yeah.

RoboCop, you miss him? You don’t need–you don’t need to answer that question. I am sorry. Okay? How about I propose a toast? To lost loves… and new friendships. Can I call this a friendship?

Well, I mean, considering that you really annoy the hell out of me, and I can only–

Oh.

Yeah. I mean, it’s true. I can only stand spending about minutes with you until I want to pull my hair out. So yeah, I guess we’re friends.

Well, for the record, you annoy the hell out of me.

Oh?

That’s right.

Yeah?

You do. And hanging out with you makes me want to pull my hair out.

Okay.

Because has anybody ever told you what a tremendous downer you are? I mean, you are. Bah, bah, that’s you. That’s you.

[laughs] Okay.

But in spite of all that, I do consider you a friend– sort of, okay?

Okay.

You know.

Yeah.

So… To new friendships.

New friendships.

[soft dramatic music]

[melancholy music]

Okay. Here you go.

Great. Thank you. And we’ll talk later, yeah?

Yeah, yeah. Hey, how are you doing? Good?

Yeah, good.

Why don’t we give you a few minutes to talk?

No, this is your house.

It’s Brady’s home too, so we’re going to give you a little privacy, okay? Come on, Doc.

[tense music]

Why did Marlena just say she’s going to give us some privacy? Do they know? Do they know that I got high, Brady? Oh, my God, you didn’t tell them, did you?

Hello. Where are you going? And your answer better be to the store.

Maggie, please try to understand.

I don’t understand. This night is about me, my daughter, and my granddaughter, and not whatever bad blood is being stirred up between you and Konstantin.

Welcome to our home.

A gracious thank you.

So where are the girls?

Oh, Sarah’s feeding Victoria in the bedroom.

Okay. Well, I’m going to join them. You two behave yourself.

[sigh]

You have a lovely home– so warm and inviting.

Thank you. Let’s cut the chitchat, shall we?

[dramatic music]

Okay, then. What would you prefer to talk about? Politics, climate change, artificial intelligence and how it is transforming the world?

No, I want to talk about Maggie Horton– the best person I know, who I care about deeply. So if you do anything to hurt that woman–

Well, Mr. Cook, though I am weary of defending myself to you and other cynical people who are skeptical of my feelings towards Maggie, let me state once again, and unequivocally, and I hope for the last time, I also care very deeply about Maggie. And I would never hurt her, hmm? I am not the man you think I am.

Hmm.

Oh, my goodness. Did I just see pigs fly?

Okay. All right. You got to pick, okay? All right? You got to pick one here. I got to watch– hey, whoa, hey. Hey now, hey, whoa, watch yourself.

You watch yourself.

Okay. All right. All right, choose now. So Gabby– she is in prison like she is now, but it’s, like, for decades, okay? Decades. Or Gabby out of prison, she’s free… But you never get to see her again.

That’s a tough one.

Mm-hmm.

So what do you pick?

Set her free. At least I know she’s safe. We’re out of wine.

[chuckles] And here’s another bottle– convenient.

[laughs]

[reads label in French] Let’s just open the damn thing up.

All right, you do that. Oops.

[laughs]

I was going to drink that.

Ahh! Let’s get hammered.

[laughs]

[snorts]

Somebody snorted. * Somebody snorted *

Thanks for the offer, but I’ve got a big day tomorrow. And you’ve got a very early one. We can’t risk another all-nighter like last night.

Well, I’d risk an all-nighter with you any night. Just having you stay over here, falling asleep in my arms, and our discussion– you know, I thought that was, like, a really important one and that maybe we understand each other a little bit better.

Yeah, I think we do.

It’s funny. As we were lying there, all these Seattle memories were just coming flooding back to me. I–just remembering how in love we were with each other, how much– how much fun we had.

You said at that time, we both got sick on oysters at that new restaurant, that seafood restaurant? God, definitely not my favorite Seattle memory.

Honestly, I love every memory that I have with you, even that one. Do you remember a few days after that, we went to that bluegrass festival. And the sun was going down. We were walking along the water. And it was cold, you know? And so I put my coat over you. And that was the first time I told you I loved you. It took three long weeks of me saying it before you said it back to me. But when you did, that was the happiest moment of my life.

[romantic music] I meant what I said last night, Steph. I’m still in love with you.

Please don’t be upset with me.

Oh.

Listen. I did–I did tell Marlena. I did.

Brady, why would you do that?

Because I needed– listen. Listen. I know I shouldn’t have, and I’m sorry about that. But I was concerned about you and Tate. And I needed to tell somebody about it.

God, I mean, she already thinks I’m such a colossal screw up.

No, she’s a psychiatrist. She understands it. Hey, she understands addiction. She gets it. She doesn’t judge. She was just concerned. That’s all. I promise. Theresa, look at me please. Don’t be upset with me. Sorry.

Okay. Okay. Okay.

Okay.

So you told your stepmother, and she’s a really good person. And she’s a psychiatrist, so okay. It’s okay that you told her. And I’m sure now she’s told John too. But he’s a really good guy, too, so–

[sigh] Okay.

Theresa, they’re not going to tell anyone. I swear. I promise.

I know. You’re right.

[sigh] God. Do you remember when we had our townhouse?

[tender music]

Yeah, how could I forget that?

Do you know that there was one time when I popped over unannounced to– I don’t know– borrow eggs or something. And Marlena answered the door. And it was very obvious that I had interrupted something between the two of them–

Oh, no.

In the middle of the afternoon.

Yeah?

I mean, I should have called before.

Yeah, probably. But I’ll bet you never made that mistake again.

No, I did not.

[laughter]

It’s funny.

Oh, but the way they look at each other, it’s heart-melting.

It really is.

Yeah.

You know, you and I used to look at each other… once upon a time.

Yes, we did– once upon a time. And now you– now you’re with Alex. And I really hope that that’s going well. I do.

I don’t think you do.

I do.

No. I think you wish what I wish– that you and I could have somehow made it work. That maybe you and I could have been the next John and Marlena.

I’m so sorry. I– I should have resisted the urge to declare my love for you again, especially because I know it makes you uncomfortable. I should have read the room. Just so you know, I’m not waiting for you to say it back like I was last time.

It’s hot in here.

Sorry. I know. You know what? I’m just sort of– I’m just talking, talking, talking. You have to go.

Actually… is that offer of overpriced little liquor bottles and dinner still on the table?

Yeah, definitely. Sure.

Good. Because there’s something we need to discuss.

Uh-oh.

It’s not bad. It’s about this whole “friends” thing.

I know I have trouble with boundaries, obviously. I did it last night. And I’m doing it again, but I promise that I’ll stop. Except I keep breaking that promise, don’t I?

It’s not that.

What is it then?

This whole friends thing– it isn’t working for me either.

And then, so when Harris and I, when we came back from London, everything was really great for us. You know? Yeah, like, I was really happy. I was probably the happiest that I have ever been in my entire life maybe. Yeah. And then… I felt hopeful.

[jazzy music]

And then Clyde had to come along.

Mm. Damn Clyde Weston.

Damn Clyde Weston. That firetruck and Mickey Fickey figlio di puttana.

Oh, my God.

What?

Tripp’s got “qe-tuila”.

“Qe-tuila?”

Yes. We could do shots. Are you in?

Limes!

Yeah!

Whoa, whoa. Whoa.

[giggling]

Okay, okay, okay, okay. So–

[laughs] Yes, in honor–honor of those–whoa– those very happy times in London.

Are you about to–

There it goes.

I mean, what are you–

Come on. Ready? Are you ready? Are you ready?

Yeah, as I’ll ever be.

All right.

[mellow sultry music] Yeah.

[both grunt]

Ha-ha.

[laughter]

Oh, London Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down.

Come on.

* London Bridge is falling down, my fair lady *

* Build her up with gold and silver * * Gold and silver, gold and silver * * Build her up with * Okay.

Hey!

* Gold and silver, my fair lady *

Oh, hey. Oh.

Well, damn it.

It’s okay. It’s okay. I’ll get you some of Tripp’s.

It’s fine. It’s fine. My clothes are like the rest of my life now– one, big, hot mess.

Here, put this on.

[laughs]

That’s Tripp’s?

This is the first thing I could find.

That’s a lady robe. I’m not wearing a lady robe.

Hey, whoa, whoa, no, no, no. Hey, hey. No, no, don’t you dare sit on that couch with those wet, stained pants.

Fine.

Hey, put this on. Whoa, hey, what are you– stop that. Stop it. No, don’t. Don’t. Don’t. Don’t take off those pants.

I got to. They’re all wet.

[exhales] Okay to sit now?

What do you mean? The friend thing isn’t… working for you?

Give me one of those minibar bottles.

[tender music]

The rum.

Mm.

So… After our conversation last night… All I could think about all day today was… how great it was when we were together in Seattle. Late night talks. How you made me laugh. Not to mention the sex was–

Incredible.

On the floor of your apartment.

Remember that time in Whidbey Island?

At the tulip garden?

I thought they were going to find us.

And just knowing they might made it that much more exciting, right?

For sure.

I’d like to have more of those moments.

Starting now.

Are you sure?

I don’t know if I ever thought we could be the next John and Marlena. Well, they’ve set the bar pretty high. I don’t think any couple could reach that. I also think you’re idealizing what we had a little bit too much. Theresa, we were a hot mess.

We had our good times.

Yeah. But yeah, when we were high.

It was more than that.

I don’t–it wasn’t– it wasn’t really real. We were more addicted to each other.

[somber music]

I’m sorry. I’m sorry.

It’s okay. That’s how you remember it. No need to be sorry.

Hold on. Hold on.

I remember some really nice times too. Some really nice times. But that was then, and we’re different people now. Aren’t we?

Well, that was a delicious meal.

Xander is very lucky to have you, Sarah.

Oh, you mean as a cook? No, that was all Xander. He spent the entire afternoon in the kitchen.

Oh, well. Good for you, Xander. I enjoyed the meal very much.

Where did you learn to cook, Xander?

My mom, yeah. Not only did she teach me a bunch of great recipes, but the most important ingredient in any meal is patience.

She sounds like a wise woman. How old were you when you left Edinburgh?

Oh, you were raised in Scotland. I didn’t know that. I know you only from your reputation in Greece and when you did “business” with my father. But you’re Scottish, eh? Oh, that explains a lot.

What’s that supposed to mean?

Well, I have always found the Scottish people to be– mind you, this is only from my personal experience– to be cold and harsh, not to mention miserly.

[laughs]

Xander.

You see, I was born and raised in Athena, the seat of the Greco-Roman Empire. And when I was a boy, I would scamper up the steps of the Acropolis two at a time. I learned to love, to dance, to debate. And by virtue of the teachings of my elders, my parents, and by the great Hellenistic culture, I learned the value and importance of being a man’s man.

A man’s man?

Yes.

Like a strong, proud man who would never take advantage of a recently widowed and vulnerable woman.

Xander.

A man’s man as in honest, someone who would never deceive and manipulate in order to live off said woman.

I resent those comments deeply, Mr. Cook. But I choose to take the high road to say only, you greatly underestimate me, young man.

Oh, no. No one could ever underestimate you.

Oh, dear God.

Maggie, it’s time to go.

No, it’s not time to go.

I will not stay anywhere where I am so greatly disrespected.

Well, fine. Order a car. I’ll see you at home.

Thank you for such a memorable evening, Sarah.

[tense music]

These people, this town.

I’m so sorry, Maggie.

No, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have brought him here. What was I thinking?

It’s okay, mama. It’s okay.

Hey, you two. Doc and I are going to shut it down for the night.

Okay. Well, good night then.

Theresa, it was nice to see you.

Good night. See you, buddy.

Hang on. Sorry. Before you go, I just wanted to– I know that Brady told you about my slip, Marlena. And John, I assume that you know too. And I just– well, I just want to say, thank God for Brady, the way he helped me get through it. I am back on track. I am going to meetings every day. And I am determined to never, ever let this happen ever again.

Well, Theresa, we are just really glad that you are finally getting the support you need.

And we’re here for you.

[gentle music]

I gotta head out.

What? Now?

Yeah, a new Black Badge client.

Okay, I should get going too.

I’ll walk you out, Theresa.

Okay.

John, be careful.

Always, sweetheart.

I shouldn’t have forced Konstantin on you. And after such a delicious meal we had, I’m sorry it went so badly.

No, Maggie, it’s on me. I should have kept my mouth shut. It’s just my stubborn Scottish side and my proud Greek side ran smack into each other. And boom, I just–

Well, it’s all over now.

Well, not for your mom. She’s going to see him when she gets back to the house.

Listen. Like I said to you repeatedly, I’m a big girl. I can handle Konstantin.

Are you sure, mom? Because he was angry when he left.

And so was I. I can handle Konstantin. And then, I really should be going. I’d like to sneak one last kiss from that sweet little angel first. Okay.

I know. I know.

I mean, why did you have to provoke him in the first place? What was the point?

What am I supposed to do, Sarah? Just sit there while he tells me that all Scottish people are harsh and mean and cold and cheap?

Miserly was the word he used.

It’s the same thing. Look, I don’t– I don’t know what Maggie’s thinking now. But she was clearly upset by all that. Maybe she’s starting to see the light, that she’s beginning to realize that this man who’s basically living with her now is very bad news.

Well, I wish you wouldn’t characterize him that way. I feel like the jury’s still out on that guy. But look, whatever his flaws are, I think that she does need him right now. So I wish you would accept that.

Okay. You know, it’s getting late. And I should go to bed. You should get out of here. Go call a cab.

[sultry music]

Do you know that phone call this morning?

You really got me with all that sexy talk.

Yeah?

Yeah.

Yeah. I know.

You, hand on your back, on your bed, rubbing hot oil all over your body.

I was thinking… Maybe… I can help you finish the job. You know?

I put you on your back.

Yeah.

I rub the rest of that hot oil all over your naked body.

[intense music]

[both panting] – “He kissed her with fierce intensity, “his tongue exploring her mouth as his hands touched her, caressing her curves.”

What if Tripp comes home?

Don’t worry about it. They’re out late. What?

I’m gonna take the chance. – “As he lifted her up, she gasped, “her breath ragged, her legs wrapping around him “as he pressed her against the wall. “She clung to him, breathing in heavy gasps as they both moved towards the edge of pleasure.”

[gentle music]

Oh, well. Sorry, I’m going to– I’m going to turn in. How about you?

No, I think I’m going to stay up and watch a little movie– maybe “Casablanca.”

Oh, you’re in the mood for romance, huh? And I noticed that you and Theresa were getting along. Well, I’m glad to see that.

Well, we’ll always be linked by Tate.

That bond will never break, you know.

[somber music] Good night, Brady.

Good night.

[tense music]

Take a hike, Konstantin. This place isn’t safe for you right here.

You are worried about me. How thoughtful. You must be meeting someone dangerous. Oh, what am I saying? Of course, you are, Mr. Private Eye.

You don’t want to mess with me. What do you want?

Thank you for coming.

Sit down, Mr. Black. You and I are going to talk.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[ Police radio chatter ]

Hey, laura. Have you spoken to the authorities? Yeah, yeah. The french police, they’re very thorough, being very professional. Just say it. Where is spencer?

[ Sighs ] No, stop! Stop! Get off of me! Get off!

[ Esme screams ] No, spencer! Spencer!

[ Esme screams ]

[ Water splashes ] Honey. Oh, my god. Oh, my god. Josslyn, hi. Um, I heard your friend adam needs a patient advocate.

[ Door opens ] Adam, I’ve got a friend of yours outside. Look, if you’re talking about josslyn, I — I’m talking about this. My guitar.

[ Laughs ] I wasn’t sure what happened to it when I moved to this room. Oh, we were keeping it for you. Thank you. No, thank josslyn. She’s the one who brought your guitar from the park the night you were admitted. She knew you’d want it. Adam. I, uh — I was hoping you’d, uh, outgrown this thing. Well, it’s time we got your priorities straight. Can you imagine anything more beautiful or appropriate than st. Anthony’s in bensonhurst? The entire neighborhood will be there — all the cerullos and the falconeris. And father tom — oh, he does a great service. Oh, we already asked gregory to officiate. Oh, gregory. Not to worry. Father tom is very liberal. I’m sure he would have no problem sharing the pulpit. So, have you thought about the reception? Uh, one idea is a yacht. Hm, hm, hm. Okay, well, that is romantic in theory. It is risky in practice. The night before my second wedding to ned, uh, the one that was actually sanctioned by the church, as opposed to the quickie one when I thought I was marrying eddie maine — ma! Uh, well, we had a yacht cruise, and the ship ran aground and almost sank with the entire wedding party and family and friends on board. So we should be looking at venues on dry land. But some risks are worth taking. Could you imagine a moonlight cruise off coney island, huh? I mean, we could — we could welcome all of the guests on board under the brooklyn bridge. And then we can sail around ellis island and the statue of liberty. And then when everybody’s ready to disembark, we can send them off with popcorn. Doesn’t that sound spectacular? Spectacular. I have to say, we’re, uh… speechless. Wow. Well, I’m not. Hey. Hey. How’s it going? Oh. Ask me in a couple days, because we’re in the middle of putting out the first magazine with my name on it, and my head is spinning, I’m going crazy. I don’t know. With you here and nina gone, crimson has already improved. Oh, gosh. I don’t know about that. I mean, I despise the woman, but she knew a lot more than I do about putting a magazine out. Nina learned on the job. You’re gonna learn on the job, too. You’re a natural leader. You’ve already run a big company, and you’ve got great taste, if I do say so myself. It’s only a matter of time before you surpass her. I love your confidence. Yeah. Six months from now — less, nobody’s even gonna remember that nina ran this place. Nina who? Right. Best business decision I have ever made is making you editor in chief of crimson. Oh! [ Laughs ]

[ Gasps ] Michael, hey. Um… you, uh — you got a minute?

After your mom called, I took a look at adam’s recent psychiatric evaluation, and it turns out it’s up to him if he wants to go home or go back to school or remain here at general hospital for observation. I think adam just wants to live his life and not feel he’s one big disappointment. Can you help him? I’ll do my best. There’s no underestimating the hold a parent has on a child. Tracy, before you insist that the wedding be in this house with a bunch of snooty waiters and unnecessary etiquette, I want you to think about what brook lynn and chase want. So no more petty fighting with lois and olivia about the reception. No more arguing with ned about anything, really. All that matters is that those two beautiful souls belong together, and we all do everything we can to help make that happen. Do we understand each other? We do. Lois: Because this is supposed to be a celebration, and celebrations are supposed to be fun. And yes, I know it’s important to have gorgeous flowers and — and beautiful table settings, but that is not as important as the food and the — and the music and the dancing, especially the dancing. Because what’s really important is for the bride and the groom to enjoy the occasion. And what is more enjoyable than for brook lynn to be married in her neighborhood, surrounded by the people who’ve known her and loved her her entire life? Grandmother, say something. I couldn’t agree more. Police interviewed the captain. They found him locked in a closet, unconscious. So when he came to, he confirmed that spencer chartered the boat to cruise the river to the english channel. When the boat left the pier, they found an american woman on deck. Said she was lost. He didn’t believe her. Uh, said he was going to take her into custody, and she fought back and smacked him in the head with a fire extinguisher. Was he able to I.D. Her? Oh, yeah. He picked out esme’s picture right away. And what about the search for spencer? Look, laura, they have every boat at their disposal in the water, searching, and so far, there is no sign of esme or spencer. Then they can still be alive. Yeah, yeah. I’ll go, uh — I’ll check in again. See if there’s any updates. Okay. Thank you. Yeah. Of course. When did you get here? We just arrived. Ned quartermaine kindly let us borrow the elq jet, and we came as soon as we heard that esme was on her way to paris. Uh, laura and dante are coordinating with the french police, and I promise you, trina, they’re doing all they can to rescue spencer. Dad, he’s alive. I know he is. Okay, so what happened? The police told us that esme tried to — to stab spencer with a needle? She ambushed him from behind. Whatever drug she was using, it was so powerful that spencer could — he couldn’t even stand. And then she tried to come for me. She tried to inject me with the needle. And then spencer grabbed her, and then they both went over the side, and — oh, honey. He saved my life, like he did in greenland. Thank god for that.

[ Sighs ] I thought I lost him then, too. And then he came back to me, so I — I — I know — I just know in my heart that — that he’s alive still. Trust your heart, trina.

Congratulations on the new job. Oh, thank you, thank you. Yeah, metro court’s loss is crimson’s gain. Oh, well, don’t worry, I’m definitely going to get my half of the metro court back one day with my own money. I’m not going to take loans from anyone. So until then, I’m just going to enjoy my time here at crimson. I know you’ll knock it out of the ballpark. Thank you. Thanks for the vote of confidence. Yeah. But that’s not why you’re here, is it? Uh, no, I’m actually just looking for drew. I went to your office, but they said that you were here. Well, uh… let’s relocate. Oh, actually, I — I’m going to go. I’m gonna go to G.H. Because I think josslyn could use some backup. So, um… okay. Hey, take it easy on him, please. Look, michael, it’s, uh… it’s late. Anything you can say to me, you can say to me tomorrow morning. I’m, uh — I’m afraid not. I’m resigning. This has got to go. No, dad. It doesn’T. You’re upsetting the patient. Please wait outside. Adam, we have far more important things to discuss than your musical hobby — like the reason you’re here in this hospital, then moving on to the many lies you’ve told. You owe me that. Adam doesn’t owe you anything. Nurse, I thought I made it very clear that this young woman was not to be allowed near my son. Mr. Wright, please do as nurse corinthos says and wait outside. And who are you? I’m felicia scorpio. I’m on staff here as a patient advocate, and I need to talk to adam, just the two of us. Lois: I am so sorry. I [Chuckles] Don’t think I heard you correctly. Did — did you just agree with me? Well, as mother of the bride, you are traditionally the hostess of the wedding and the reception, and I know that our tastes differ and quartermaine traditions are not necessarily right for everyone. Wow. I always thought you were too snooty to see past your own stuck-up nose. But, hey, clearly, I was wrong.

[ Chuckles ] Live and learn. Ma? Gregory? Can chase and I have a word with my grandmother, privately? Of course. Shall we? Delighted.

[ Door closes ] So, now that we’re all on the same page, the wedding can proceed. The ceremony will be at st. Anthony’s in bensonhurst, the festival hall of your choosing for the reception, and the streamers and balloons and bunting in whatever color palette your mother desires. Feel free to thank me. Thank you? Grandmother, we were counting on you to say no. Have you gotten any news? Dante is with the police now, but no word yet, no. They’ll find him. I-I know they will. Can you just tell me what happened? What is it that esme thought she was going to accomplish? Esme wanted to take spencer hostage to force nikolas out of hiding to trade him for ace. Oh, my god. But esme is a tiny little girl. How could she possibly overpower spencer? Did she have a gun? This is where she planned to drug him. Esme said that the drug would make spencer docile, but it didn’t work. He found a way to fight it. And then she came for me with the needle. And then he grabbed her. Okay. That’s why I know he loves me. And I just know, I-I know that he’s alive. Oh, sweetheart. Sweetheart. Do we have an update? I-I’m sorry. I-I don’t have good news.

I don’t understand. I thought you were on board with your mother’s vision. Do you know how many weddings i have been to at st. Anthony’s? Don’t misunderstand. They’ve all been beautiful and a lot of fun. And as much as I love the old neighborhood, I don’t want to be married there. Brook lynn and I met in port charles. We fell in love here. The people were closest to are here. We want a port charles wedding. Now, whether we have the reception here at the house or — or at the savoy or at the metro court ballroom, we just want it to be at a place that has meaning for us as a couple. It’s not that I don’t want to get to know brook lynn’s family in bensonhurst. I-I do. But just not on our wedding day, okay? We want that to be a day to celebrate our love, not a meet and greet with the falconeri and cerullo clans. So if that’s the way you feel, why don’t you tell your mother? Because I’m my ma’s only child and I’m a daughter, and a big neighborhood wedding, it’s like a rite of passage. Look, my ma has always been rebellious, but when it came to marrying my dad and having a ceremony, they did it in bensonhurst. Oh, yes. I remember the stories of running around brooklyn in their wedding attire, hoping to get to the church on time. And now it’s her turn to be mother of the bride, you know, to have all the uncles and cousins and nonnas congratulate her. And since she divorced my dad and raised me as a single mom, it’s an even bigger deal for her. So maybe you should defer to her wishes? She’s got a point. I don’t want to hurt my mom’s feelings, but I just want our wedding to be our wedding. It will be. I promise. Look, I’m happy for my mom. I-I know she’ll make crimson even better, but look, drew, you fired nina and you hired my mom without even asking me. I know it’s your call, but look, as someone who’s been handling the day-to-day for years, I should have at least been consulted. Like you shared the inside information about nina with me? Drew, I [Sighs] Look, I-I-I found out that nina tipped off the sec at their wedding reception. I was on the phone call with my source when I looked over and I saw nina dancing with willow and my son. I understand that it’s complicated. Yeah, that’s why I needed proof. That’s why I —

[ Sighs ] I recorded martin gray admitting to everything, and I went to my father, and I was going to play him the recording and expose nina, get her out of his life, willow’s life, and my kids’ lives once and for all. You’ve explained this to me. You exp– you couldn’t bring yourself to break sonny’s heart. I know. My father and i have been estranged ever since he chose nina over my mom and his family. We just reconciled. So if I were to go over to him a-a-and basically say, “see? I was right. Nina is a liar, and you were a fool to choose her over us,” I — I felt like it would — it would — it would break our relationship for good. Yeah. You could have found a gentler way to bring it to him. No matter how I would have said it, that’s what — that’s what he would have heard. That’s what he heard when I did tell him the truth finally. Sonny blames you as much as he blames nina. I mean, if not more. But look, t-that’s for me andmy father to work out. Or not. The point is, I owed it to you to tell you everything, and I didn’T. So, look, I-I’ll stick around and help with the transition as long as you need me, until you find someone you can trust to replace me. Michael, wait. The truth is, my anger was misdirected towards you. Nina was the one that caused all the harm. Now that carly is here in her place, the books are balanced. W-what are you saying? I’m saying I want you here. But with new ground rules in place. My son doesn’t need an advocate. He has his father. And how has that worked out? If you don’t leave now, I’ll call security. No, you won’T.

[ Scoffs ] And who are you? I’m josslyn’s mother. And instead of insulting my daughter, why don’t you thank her for saving your son’s life? If you all would just step outside and give me a moment alone with adam. I’m staying. Adam? I would like to talk to the advocate. You heard your son. You need to leave. Or should I call security? Adam, I’ll be right outside. I’ll be outside, too, in case you need anything. What happens now? It’s your life, adam. You’ve been given a second chance to live it. How you do so is up to you. Authorities are dragging the river. They got divers out there, helicopter along the shoreline. But, uh, you know, the currents are stronger the closer the river gets to the channel. There must be something more that they can do to rescue spencer. The problem is, is — is they’ve been in the water for over 24 hours now. And given the temperature and whatever esme gave to spencer, they’re no longer calling this a rescue mission. They’re calling it a recovery. Well, who cares what they call it? Recovery or rescue, what matters most is that they get spencer back. Trina… laura, I’m so sorry. Spencer is now presumed dead. No. No. They’re wrong! He’s alive! I know he is!

Trina shouldn’t be alone right now. Of course. Honey, go after our daughter. Okay. He was your grandson. Laura, I’m very sorry. Thank you. Dante, who is your, uh — who’s your contact at the local police? Uh, captain aubert. She’s got a command station set up on the bridge. She can give you all the details. Okay, I’m gonna need to hear that so I can relay it to trina when she’s ready.

[ Sighs ] Laura, is there anything I can do? Find my grandson. I wish I could. I know. I know you’d bring him back if you could. We all would. But nothing can be done.

[ Sobbing ] You tried to end your life. Your medical team and I want to make sure that you know that we can continue to support you even after you walk out the door. You’re not alone. You have help. All you have to do is ask for it. There’s something you need to know. When I found adam in the park, he was clutching the thing that he loves most — that guitar. You know what I’d like to think? That even when he was out of it and about to drift off forever, he heard music, and it gave him a reason to live. You believe you’ re doingwhat’s best for your son. But what’s best for adam is for you to see him and accept him for who he is. Lois, gregory, will you join us? Oh. Are you okay? No thanks to you. Agreeing with lois took years off my life. And I do not want you to worry about a thing. The cost of the boat and the food — I’m gonna foot the bill. I’m footing the bill. And on further review, I have decided that the wedding is going to take place here in port charles. Formal attire, flowers by genevieve, string quartet, and french champagne. Is that really what you want? As much as I want to meet your extended family, brook lynn and i are based here, and this is where we would like to have the wedding. Formal reception with flowers and champagne and a string quartet sounds beautiful. Beautiful, yeah, but…where’s the fun? Tracy: I am so glad you brought that up, because it’s the night before the wedding where the fun really happens. How am I supposed to walk away from him, mom? How do I let him go? Oh, honey.

I’ll be honest. Byconey island?Coney island? Well, it may not be the appropriate venue for the wedding, but it’s perfect for the rehearsal dinner. Of course. Why didn’t I think of that? Well, nail polish remover — silent killer. We can re-create all the outer borough charm right on the wharf. We can hire a carnival and rockers, whatever. Oh, that’s true, but you know what? You could do even better than that, right? Because why re-create coney island when we could have the real thing? Uh, the rehearsal dinner is the night before the ceremony. We can’t get everybody down there and back up to port charles. Yeah. Are you sure? Huh? What do you think, tracy? Huh? We can charter busses. Busses? Come on. What about jets? You’re a fancy-schmancy cosmetic ceo lady. You could fly everybody down there and back same night. You can rent out the whole park. Oh! Oh, I could just see it now. Right? Y-y-you got waiters on roller skates handing out pigs in blankets. The salt & sizzle, the sideshow.

[ Gasps ] The cyclone! I would pay money to see you on the slingshot, tracy. And maybe we could get the groom to serenade the bride on the beach.

[ Sighs ] Oh. What? No. You’re gonna tell me this, right? You hate it? Couldn’t be more wrong. We love it. You do? Oh! Yeah. Oh! Josslyn, adam would like to see you now. Mr. Wright: Uh…

[ Door opens ] Looking for me? The nurse told me it was you who brought my guitar from the park when I was admitted to the hospital. I knew you’d want it. But you didn’t know if I’d be around to use it. No. But I hoped. Thank you. It wasn’t a big deal. No, no, no. Not just about the guitar. For me. I tried to kill myself, josslyn. If it hadn’t been for you, I — I would have. It’s just doing what a friend does. Even after everything? The way I treated you? You could still say that? I just did. And I promise to keep on saying it if you promise to hear it. I intend to see my son. Oh, good. You’re dressed. Enough talk. We’re going home. No, dad. I’m not. Look. I need to know that I can trust you. And obviously, that was never an issue before. You always had my back. I always had your back, and I’m not — I’m not blaming you for making the choice to protect your family. I’m just saying to you, you gotta remember, I’m family, too. Okay? How — how can I rebuild that trust? I mean, where do I — where do I start? Well, me firing nina, me putting carly in her place, that’s just the beginning. Are you planning for more changes at aurora? I’m planning more changes for nina. I’m gonna make her pay for every single day that she kept me from my daughter — for every scar that I carried with me when I walked out of pentonville. I mean, that woman thinks she’s lost everything? She has no idea. She’s gonna keep losing until she’s as alone, as broke, and as empty as she deserves to be. So are you with me? I know better than to play what-ifs. I know it’s not going to change anything. It’s just I can’t stop myself. I mean, what if — what if spencer had just refused to give ace to his father? Or what if, when esme finished in court that day, she just picked up her son and she went back home, you know? Then we would all just be in port charles tonight, wouldn’t we? And spencer and trina… would be together. They’d be young and in love in paris. And instead, we have this. I can’t imagine a world without spencer. I just can’T. Sweetheart, take my jacket. No. I don’t want you to get a cold. No. It’s okay, I don’t — I don’t care. Think about how cold the water is. Spencer loved to swim, but he hated the cold. I remember when we were at the cabin, and he couldn’t wait to make a fire and, um… the cabin. That’s when esme showed her true colors. Why didn’t we pay attention? Why didn’t we get away from her then? Even spencer, especially spencer. Esme can’t hurt anyone anymore. Spencer saw to that. Honey, he really was a hero. Let me get you home, please. There’s really nothing that we can do here now. I’ll meet you at the stateroom.

[ Sighs ] How do I do it, spencer? How do I say goodbye?

I may have gotten a little carried away and inadvertently suggested a wedding and reception that was very similar to — okay, almost identical to my wedding to your father, and your cousin theresa’s, and your cousin angela’s, and — all right, and luciana falconeri’s, which all happened this past year. And they were all beautiful. Yes. And your wedding will be beautiful, too, as long as it’s the wedding of your dreams, not mine. I love you, ma. I love you too, baby. As long as we have our families wishing us well… then our wedding will be perfect. Yeah. You never cease to amaze me. You have all sorts of hidden talents when you let yourself show them. Sometimes, all I need is just a little encouragement. However… there is no amount of encouragement that will ever get me on anything called “the slingshot.” I beg to differ. If I can get alexis into a parachute, I can get you onto the slingshot. Don’t be foolish. You’ve proven you can’t be trusted on your own. After some time at home, with family, you can enroll in another college, get a fresh start. Dad. I’m going back to pcu. I’ve got unfinished business there. Besides, there’s a really great music department there. And who will pay the tuition? With his musical talent, perhaps pcu will want to recruit adam. Or I’ll get a job, put myself through school. This is a mistake. It’s mine to make. I have your phone number, dad. You have mine. Whenever you feel like talking… adam. …We’ll talk. I’m not complaining, but… what was that for? For being you. Drew, if, um, regaining your trust means pursuing a vendetta against nina, I’m sorry, but the answer’s no. You think I’m being too hard on her? It’s just not — it’s not worth what I stand to lose. I-I already went behind willow’s back in the name of protecting her from her mother, and it nearly cost me my family. I can’t do that again. I mean, yeah, I want nina to lose everything, but I can’t be involved in — in making that happen, so… yeah. So you better start your search for your new ceo. I already have my ceo. You just proved it right now. So, what, this was, what, a test? I mean, I told you what I was planning. You declined to be involved. I respect your reasons. I respect your honesty. That’s what we need. We need transparency. Collaboration can’t happen without it. I expect to see you at your desk first thing tomorrow morning. What did the police have to say? Well, they’re going to extend the search for another 48 hours. If they don’t find anything, they’re going to assume that spencer and esme’s bodies were swept out into the english channel and lost. Any idea on the odds of recovering their bodies? Less than 50%. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. On the one hand, if they don’t find the body, then trina will never accept that spencer’s gone. If they do find the body, she’s going to insist on viewing it. I just don’t want her to see him that way. I want to spare her that. Yeah, I-I wanted… I wanted spencer out of trina’s life. He brought trouble. And I wanted to, you know, just protect her from all of that. But the thought of that young man losing his life saving hers and how trina is feeling tonight, I didn’t want it to happen like this. You know, not this way. Is kevin okay? He still has the headache, but other than that, he’s fine. I know you want to get home to him, so I… I promise I won’t be long. You take as much time as you need. Spencer: When the woman you love invites you to go to paris, you say yes.

Merci, monsieur. Where are we off to? The rest of our lives. I can’t believe that this is really happening.

When I first saw you that november trina: Since being with you, I’ve gotten to experience the most amazing things, and not just this trip. I mean, all the amazing things we’ve done in paris. Are you ready for the best weekend of your life? So ready.

[ Cork pops ] But the entire feeling of being with you, of loving you and being loved by you returned.

Une bise.

Une bise. I like that one. I’m supposed to be studying art history while I’m here, but I guess I can see the appeal for french lessons, too.

Still and you opened my eyes to a whole new world, and you taught me that I’m a person that’s worthy of love. I want you today, tomorrow, and forever.

I was destined for falling in love trina: To us. Spencer: I love us. Me, too. You’re everything that I always wanted and never believed that I could have.

Things you’ll never know and I’m gonna love you for the rest of my life. This isn’t goodbye, spencer. Somehow, some way.

But the boats pass by the things you’ll never know time goes by, but the boats pass by the things you’ll never know

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Eric and Sloan kiss in bed until baby Jude wakes up crying.

At the Spectator, Chad asks Everett how it’s going. Everett calls it a run of the mill day and jokes that he’s saving the world. Chad is sure he’s doing it impressively and asks how the story is coming along. Everett says it should be in his inbox soon and he’s thinking it will become a series. Chad agrees that it’s not just about who is dealing the drugs but who it affects. Everett says that could include people they know who need a voice.

Theresa sits at the Titan office, encouraging herself that she can do this and doesn’t need help from anybody. Alex arrives, so Theresa tells him that she’s trying to figure out the layout issue, feeling there’s too much visual clutter. Brady arrives and says he’s sorry to interrupt but Theresa says thank God he’s there as she really needs his help badly.

Harris checks on Lucas in his room above the Pub. Lucas asks about the investigation. Harris says he’s on his way to the hospital to check on a perp. Harris knows it isn’t going as fast as he hoped, but assures Lucas that he is safe here. Lucas says he’d like to believe him but he knows that Clyde’s mission in life right now is to find and kill him.

Sloan tells Eric to let Jude cry and self soothe but Eric worries that it sounds like he needs something, so he gets out of bed to check on him, disappointing Sloan.

Brady asks Theresa what’s wrong. Theresa complains about the layout and thinking she screwed up some ads, so she asks Brady to take a look. Brady sees the issue and suggests making it a little less overwhelming. Brady says he can help with it, so Theresa calls him a lifesaver, annoying Alex. Brady sends Theresa to get the original proof sheet from his office. Alex mocks Brady coming to the rescue. Brady brings up that Alex urged him to make sure she feels better with her job here. Theresa comes back and tells Brady they will get to work. Brady shows her a couple things to fix it. Alex gets annoyed and walks out.

Harris knows this isn’t ideal but says Lucas is out of prison and did his part, so now he has to trust him to do his part. Harris says he’ll see him later and exits. Lucas pulls out his phone and calls Chad, who questions if he’s supposed to be in prison. Lucas reveals that he’s in Salem. Chad asks if he was released or if he escaped. Lucas says he’ll explain later, but right now he needs him to come to Harris’ room above the Pub as they need to talk and hangs up. Chad says what the hell as Everett asks who that was. Chad says he’ll know soon enough but they have to go as they have a meeting with a very important person.

Eric feeds Jude and gets him back to sleep. Sloan tells Eric to come back to bed now but Eric wants to wait to make sure he doesn’t wake up screaming again. Sloan says if he wakes up then Eric can go over there and hover. Eric agrees to stop hovering and goes back to kissing Sloan in bed until they are interrupted by a knock at the door. Eric says he’ll get it but Sloan argues that they will go away if he doesn’t. Eric worries that they will wake up the baby. It’s Leo, so Sloan says not to let him in but Eric says he won’t go away. Eric answers the door and says it’s not a good time. Leo walks in and says he was doing research for his column and it dawned on him that they haven’t reviewed his photos. Leo praises Eric’s extraordinary talent. Eric questions Leo wanting to review his photos now. Leo says unless this isn’t a good time.

Theresa comments that Brady makes this look so easy. Brady says it’s because he’s made all those mistakes too so he knows how to fix them. Brady encourages Theresa not to let it get to her and she’ll be fine. Theresa agrees to try not to and thanks Brady so much for his help. Brady has no doubt the magazine will be successful in the future and that Theresa will be a big part of that success.

Marlena runs in to Harris at the hospital and asks how everything is. Harris admits he’s not great, as he was just visiting an injured perp who got hurt during a raid but he wouldn’t give up his boss still. Harris says dealing with the drug ring is like always hitting another wall. Marlena asks if he wants to talk about it as she has some time. Harris decides it would be really good to talk to her again.

Chad and Everett go to see Lucas. Lucas complains that he didn’t mean for Chad to bring backup. Chad assures that he trusts Everett and introduces him to Lucas. Lucas tells them to have a seat because he has a hell of a story to tell them.

Alex runs in to Maggie in the town square and asks how she is. Maggie says she’s well and she’s glad she ran in to him as she asks if he has a moment to talk about Theresa. Maggie says she’s worried about Theresa as she ran in to her at the meeting and she seemed guarded with her. Maggie asks if Theresa is alright. Alex says all things considered, definitely and he’s just trying his best to be there for her and understand what she’s going through. Maggie doesn’t think he can which he questions. Maggie explains that being in a relationship with an addict takes a great deal of patience, empathy, and maturity. Alex asks if she doesn’t think he has those qualities. Maggie says that’s just her experience with him and she knows people can change, but right now with everything Theresa is going through, she doesn’t think Alex is equipped to handle it. Alex assumes that Maggie thinks he should break up with Theresa then. Maggie confirms that’s exactly what she thinks.

Eric says since Leo showed up without calling, they can get it over with quick and he’ll get his computer. Leo says it can wait as he looks over baby Jude. Leo remarks that Jude looks surprisingly like Eric. Sloan tells Leo that Jude is asleep. Leo says that’s fine and he’ll wait until he wakes up. Leo asks for a drink. There’s another knock at the door which Sloan complains about. Sloan answers the door to see Melinda, who questions her not seeing her texts. Sloan says she’s been a bit busy as Melinda comes in and greets Eric and Leo. Leo asks if Melinda came to see the baby she acquired for the couple. Melinda says she’s just checking in about the Christening but Sloan says they haven’t set a date. Melinda says she wants to run over a few details as Jude’s Godmother. Leo calls that so special and says it makes them a couple as he declares himself to be Jude’s Godfather which Eric questions.

Alex questions Maggie thinking he should break up with Theresa because he’s a jerk. Maggie says she didn’t use that word and she just wants what is best for Theresa as her sponsor and she thinks she would be better off on her own right now for her recovery. Alex disagrees and argues that he’s been patient and understanding with her. Maggie says maybe he has been, but that’s until he leaves her for another hot young woman. Alex insists that he’s not that person anymore. Maggie questions if he’s committed to Theresa for the long haul. Alex states that he’s done being a player, he’s in therapy and working hard on himself to become a better person. Alex understands she might be skeptical but at the end of the day, he is sincere about this and his feelings for Theresa. Alex says watching her hurt to the point that she had to get high to deal with the pain broke his heart and he never wants to add to that pain. Maggie decides she believes him and if he’s truly in it for the long haul, she recommends he check out an addicts support group as he needs to help himself to he can help her.

Theresa thanks Brady again for saving her. Brady says she doesn’t need to thank him. Theresa feels he went above and beyond, like he did when she had her slip. Theresa tells Brady how much that meant to her. Brady mentions getting a letter from Tate this morning. Theresa says she got one too and that he was so sweet in reassuring that he’s okay. Theresa says that Tate is strong and brave like Brady. Brady says he sees a lot of her in Tate as well in his humor and sense of adventure. Theresa states that Tate is a good kid. Brady agrees and declares they must have done something right.

Chad questions Lucas being a confidential informant who has been feeding information to Harris Michaels about the drug ring. Lucas adds that for his trouble, he got a beatdown. Everett asks how Lucas got here. Lucas explains that Harris pulled some strings as he knew he wouldn’t last much longer in prison, so he brought him here to keep his eye on him. Everett asks if they know who is coming for him. Lucas tells them that it’s the ringleader, Clyde Weston. Chad says he should’ve known.

Harris meets with Marlena and talks about thinking of all the kids effected by the drug ring, especially Holly Jonas. Marlena talks about Holly being in Italy with Nicole, getting treatment and seems to be improving. Harris says he’s praying for her. Marlena asks how he’s doing personally. Harris says he’s alright and just trying to sort some stuff out which Marlena questions. Harris talks about he and Ava getting close. Marlena asks how that’s going. Harris tells her that’s over as she’s with Stefan DiMera now or at least claims to be. Marlena asks what that means. Harris declares there is nothing between them and it’s just a lie. Marlena questions Harris thinking that Ava and Stefan are pretending to be in a relationship. Harris says it doesn’t matter as Ava moved on and he just has to accept it. Marlena imagines he still has feelings for her. Harris admits that he does as he felt a connection he didn’t expect and thinks she felt it too, but repeats that it’s over so he has to stay focused on ending the drug epidemic in Salem. Harris guesses it’s back to work for him and thanks Marlena for listening. Marlena says she’s always there for him as Harris exits her office.

Eric asks if Sloan told Leo that he’s Jude’s Godfather. Sloan says of course not and that Leo was just joking and trying to be funny, but she didn’t find it funny. Leo jokes that she doesn’t have a sense of humor but makes up with it with her own charm and charisma. Leo then admits he has yet to be anointed Godfather of Jude and talks about how hard it must have been for the birth mother to give him up. Leo questions the holdup on the Christening. Eric mentions that he kind of wanted to wait until Nicole got back. Melinda questions wanting the woman who kidnapped his son to be there for his Christening. Eric says they’ve gotten past that. Eric then mentions to Sloan that he got a text this morning from Nicole with an update on Holly. Sloan asks if Holly is out of the coma. Eric says not yet but she’s kind of responding to stimulant, so Nicole was very excited and looking forward to Jude’s Christening, so he’d like to wait for her to be there for it. Leo calls that so kind and declares that Nicole must be there after everything she’s been through because it would do her heart some good. Leo asks if Sloan agrees.

Alex thanks Maggie for the suggestion about the support group and says he’ll definitely check that out. Maggie thinks it would be very helpful. Maggie then asks how Theresa is managing at work. Alex admits it’s been a challenge, but she’s a smart girl and determined, so he thinks she will meet that challenge and she has his support. Maggie still thinks she should step back in at Titan but Alex says his stance hasn’t changed and her services are not needed. Maggie suggests bringing it up to the board. Alex wishes her luck with that and thanks her for the advice but declares Maggie coming back to Titan is not going to happen on his watch as he then walks away.

Everett asks how Lucas communicated with Harris. Lucas explains that he had a standing call with his doctor but it didn’t work because next thing he knew, he got his brans beat out. Everett asks if the attacker said anything. Lucas says he didn’t catch anything as there were a lot of them, he was in a lot of pain, and the next thing he knew, he was in the infirmary. Harris then comes back and questions what the hell is going on here.

Theresa tells Brady that she’s counting the days until they can see their son. Brady says he’s been obsessively looking at old photos on his phone. They laugh together about old videos of Tate until Alex comes back and asks what’s funny. Theresa says they were just talking about old videos of Tate when he was little. Brady says he will get going. Theresa thanks him again as he exits. Alex asks Theresa if Brady solved all her problems. Theresa confirms that he did and then tells Alex that they need to talk.

Sloan says that waiting for Nicole to come back from Italy is okay by her as there’s no reason to rush to schedule a Christening. Eric thanks her for understanding. Eric then tells Leo that they can go check out his photos, so they head to his room. Melinda asks Sloan what the hell Leo is doing here. Sloan says he is here to torture her. Sloan remarks that she doesn’t think she’s cut out to be a mother and complains about the baby crying every time she and Eric start to have sex. Sloan talks about having to clean up and the lack of sleep. Melinda questions if Sloan didn’t know what it was going to be like or if she didn’t have friends with children or read any books on what the first year would be like. Sloan admits that she didn’t. Sloan wishes they could have a nanny. Melinda tells her to get one then but Sloan says Eric doesn’t want one as he thinks it will be better for Jude if they take care of everything. Sloan adds that they can’t even afford a nanny. Melinda gets that she’s stressed but urges her to stick to the plan and that it will get easier. Sloan says maybe in 18 years but she doesn’t know if she can make it 18 months. Melinda warns Sloan that if she doesn’t and she gives Jude back to Nicole, then she will be trading it in for prison for both of them and Leo. Melinda asks if that’s what she wants.

Maggie finishes a call with the board and says she’ll be in touch. Brady approaches and hugs her, asking how it’s going. Maggie says it’s okay and she’s trying to focus on the positives. Maggie tells Brady about getting an e-mail from Nicole, who said that the treatments for Holly have been going promising. Brady says that’s great and he’ll let Justin know to relay that to Tate. Maggie asks how Brady is doing. Brady admits he’s treading water with everything that happened with Tate and Theresa. Maggie calls it a challenging time for him and she’s hoping that maybe she can help.

Harris asks if Lucas is trying to get himself killed. Lucas responds that he’s trying to do the opposite. Harris questions going after Clyde in the press which will provoke him and put his loved ones in danger. Harris asks what the guarantee is that Chad and Everett won’t reveal his location. Chad argues that won’t happen because Lucas is family and Clyde murdered his wife, so he wants him to rot in Hell. Everett adds that people have a right to know what’s going on. Harris argues that uncovering this could undo all the work they’ve done. Chad asks if he doesn’t want them to run it. Harris wants them to just run because thanks to Lucas, they have a big drug bust going down soon. Harris offers to give them the exclusive on the drug bust if they hold the story which they agree to.

Alex tells Theresa that he has a big feeling about they need to talk. Theresa tells him it’s nothing bad and she just knows that he wasn’t that happy before when Brady saved the day for her. Alex says he was glad Brady was there since he helped her and that’s all that matters. Alex adds that he’s also been thinking about joining an addict support group meeting to have a better understanding of what she’s going through as he’s trying to be more supportive. Theresa questions him doing that for her. Alex responds that he’d do anything for her. Theresa asks how she got so lucky. Alex says he’s the lucky one and kisses her. Alex adds that maybe if he shuts the door, he can get even luckier which Theresa agrees with.

Brady questions Maggie wanting back in at Titan. Maggie says for many reasons, most importantly so she can be there in a more supportive role for Theresa and to take some of the burden off Brady. Brady calls that very kind of her and asks if she talked to Alex about it. Maggie informs him that Alex rejected the idea of her coming back. Brady calls that a big mistake as she’s a terrific business woman and Titan is better with her in it. Brady agrees to talk to the board and gauge their interest. Maggie says she just wants to make sure she’s doing what’s best for everyone to thrive as they hug.

After Chad and Everett leave, Harris asks Lucas if he’s happy now. Lucas complains while Harris asks why he would talk to journalists unless he wants Clyde to find him. Harris shouts that he’s trying to keep him alive. Lucas asks where Harris was when he got jumped and if he was trying to keep him alive then. Lucas asks how Clyde even found out. Harris admits they aren’t sure. Lucas argues that he’s sure because he knows exactly how Clyde operates and that he’s got guys embedded in the Salem police department and that’s why he did what he did today because he’s trying to end Clyde’s reign of terror and save lives, including his own.

After Leo and Melinda leave, Eric tells Sloan that he will clean up later and starts kissing her until there’s another knock at the door. Sloan hopes it’s not Leo, but it’s Marlena so Eric answers the door. Marlena hopes she’s not intruding but says she was in the neighborhood so she thought she’d catch a peek at her grandbaby. Sloan lays back on the bed in frustration.

Chad and Everett walk through the town square. Everett states that this story is going to go viral and when it does, they won’t have to worry about subscription numbers for a long time. Chad agrees and says if they are going to do it right, they have one more person to interview; Clyde Weston.

Jack: Hey, traci. I’m calling toley’s doing in paris. I am trying not to hover, but I am concerned. Give me a call when you can.

[ Jack sighs ]

Nikki: Oh! Oops.

Lucy: Hey, dad. We still on for later? Hello? Your daughter’s speaking to you.

Daniel: Hey, um, your father is listening. What’s up?

Lucy: You forgot.

Daniel: Forgot what?

Lucy: Really?

Daniel: Hey, I’m– I’m sorry. I just– I got this deadline. And– [ Sighs ]

Lucy: You’re not busy. You were just staring into space like– like this.

Daniel: Okay, cool. Thank you for the mockery. You have my undivided attention.

Lucy: So, you know how you want me to, like, talk about my feelings and stuff?

Daniel: Mm-hmm. Always.

Lucy: So, you should tell me why you’ve been so grumpy all morning. You yelled at the coffee machine earlier, and you’ve obviously forgotten that I don’t have school today, and we were going to go to the gallery show.

Daniel: Oh, yeah, right.

Lucy: You sound just like mom.

Daniel: What is that supposed to mean?

Lucy: I asked her if she was still planning on coming with us and she basically said the exact same thing. “Oh, yeah, right.”

Daniel: Is she still coming?

Lucy: I don’t know. She said that I should check with you, which is weird.

Daniel: No, no, it’s not weird. You know, she knows that I’m busy with work, so maybe she just wants to take you on her own.

Lucy: This isn’t about work. Did you two have a fight or something?

[ Knocking on door ]

[ Daniel chuckles ]

[ Daniel sighs ]

Tucker: Bonjour, ashley. I know where you are and I know what you’re doing. It’s done. Goodbye, ashley.

[ Ashley yelps ] You go to hell!

Traci: Are you okay? Ashley, are you sure that you want to do this?

Look what has happened with just one kiss.

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Traci: Ashley, you know, if you’ve changed your mind about this, we could leave. It’s okay.

Ashley: No, I need proof of what happened with tucker and me.

Traci: You don’t have to prove yourself to anyone about anything.

Ashley: You got on that jet and you told me that you were with me every step of the way.

Traci: I am.

Ashley: So, then why does it seem like you’re trying to talk me out of doing this?

Traci: No, I’m– I’m not. Of course I’m not. I’m here for you, whatever you need.

Ashley: I need this to end. I’m happy that you’re here. Thank you. Not just as my sister, but I need a witness. I need somebody to confirm my version of what happened, okay? And then I can tell tucker to stop gaslighting me, and I can get him out of my head and I can get on with my life, okay?

Traci: Yes, I understand that’s the mission. It’s just that I’m not sure that I like that look in your eye.

[ Phone chiming ]

Ashley: I got a voicemail from tucker.

Traci: Oh, why don’t you just ignore it?

Tucker: Bonjour, ashley. I know where you are. And I know what you’re doing. I’m trying to stay out of it but I just can’T. You could be at the bistro this very minute. And I hope you are, because the suspense is killing me. Not that there’s any question about what the staff would tell you. What I’m dying to know is how you’ll react to the truth, what happens when you finally come face to face with reality.

Ashley: Son of a bitch.

Tucker: Good morning, kyle.

Kyle: Go away.

Tucker: How’s the family?

Kyle: None of your business.

Tucker: Not a morning person?

[ Kyle scoffs ]

Kyle: Yeah, actually, I do have a question for you. How’s glissade? You know, your plans to take it to the top, to rule the industry? It’s got to be hell, breaking in a new board after the last one couldn’t get away from you fast enough.

Tucker: Oh, the last one was invited to leave, and a new board has been installed, so all good.

Kyle: I mean, for now. How much did you have to pay them to get them to sign on?

[ Tucker laughs ]

Tucker: Now, as you know, loyalty has its own reward.

[ Kyle chuckles ]

Kyle: And a big, fat check helps. But I doubt that you buying their loyalty could keep them around for long.

Tucker: I love it when you get all high and mighty about loyalty. The boy who almost turned on his daddy.

[ Kyle chuckles ]

Kyle: I was an idiot when I threw in with you and audra. I let my anger get the better of me, and I own it. But I learned from it. And I remembered what’s actually important. It’s not money. It’s not power. It’s family. Yeah. And I’ve corrected course. Something that you’re incapable of doing, because, tucker, you will always be a toxic mess and when your new board walks away from you, and it will happen, glissade will crash and burn, just like everything else in your life.

Victor: I don’t want to wait for answers from the authorities. You do your own damn investigation, you got it? That’s what I pay you for! Find out what the hell happened to that jordan woman. Did she die in the fire? She’s still incarcerated? Is she on the loose? You let me know as soon as you can, you got it?

Jack: Here you go.

Nikki: I’m sorry. I didn’t know where else to go.

Jack: I’m glad you came. How did you get here?

Nikki: Well, I didn’t drive, if that’s what you mean.

Jack: Good.

Nikki: I’m not that stupid. Stupid enough to take a drink, but not to get behind the wheel of a car.

Jack: So, you used your driver, right?

Nikki: I used a ride share. I couldn’t let our driver see me stumble into the car and then maybe smell the fumes and tell victor. Can you imagine? Although, he would be nothing but kind and understanding. Oh, so kind. I hate it. I hate that I am such a burden to him.

Jack: You are not a burden to anyone. Listen to me. He loves you.

Nikki: I was fine. I was ready to go through that pile of work on my desk. And then…

Jack: And then what? That’s what I want to know. What triggered this?

Nikki: I’ll show you.

Jack: Okay.

Nikki: Oh, gee whiz.

Jack: Let me get it. I got it. I got it.

Nikki: I can’t even handle my damn phone.

Jack: Here, you show me what upset you.

[ Nikki sighs ]

Nikki: This.

Jack: “A massive fire at the south coast women’s correctional facility in oregon has led to a number of fatalities. It is not known at this time if unaccounted for prisoners are deceased or have escaped.” This is about jordan.

Nikki: What if she has escaped? She could be on her way to genoa city. She could be here now for all we know. I kn– this woman tried to kill me. She is responsible for this. Well, that– that– that’s not true. I mean, I am responsible for this. I am responsible. But, jack, I don’t know if I can do it, I don’t know that I can make it this time. I mean, every little thing just gets me so rattled.

Jack: Look, believe me, this would get to anybody, this kind of news.

Nikki: Yeah, but it wouldn’t give them an excuse to drink. Jordan terrifies me and she could be on her way to get me again. So… I just– I just wanted a drink. Just– just one drink to– to make things better, you know? And it just made things worse.

Jack: Yeah, drinking can do that. But you didn’t hide it. You didn’t try to cover it up. You came to me knowing that I wouldn’t judge you and knowing that I wouldn’t enable you either. You did the right thing, nikki. I’m glad you came. Tide is busting laundry’s biggest myth…

Heather: I hope you don’t mind me just stopping by like this.

Daniel: No, no, not at all. It’s fine.

Lucy: So, are we all still on for the gallery show?

Heather: I think you should probably, um, just talk to your father about that.

Lucy: Something’s going on with you two. What– what’s wrong?

Daniel: Nothing.

Heather: Nothing. I, um– I’ve been very busy with work. I’m on a deadline, so.

Lucy: You know, that’s what dad said, too. He’s on a deadline. But, you know, I’m not– I’m not believing either of you.

Daniel: Lucy, everything– everything’s fine.

Lucy: Hey, mom, you didn’t say you were coming over when we talked.

Heather: Yes, that’s because it’s about work, and that’s why I’m here to speak to your father about work.

Lucy: Okay, go ahead.

Heather: In private.

Lucy: Okay, now, I know something’s up.

Daniel: You’re just not going to let this go, are you?

Lucy: No. Because I’m right.

Heather: Okay, you know what, miss? I know it’s not a school day, but I’m pretty sure you have a lot of homework to get to, so.

Lucy: But I was going to–

Heather: Not a request.

Daniel: What your mom said.

Lucy: Fine.

Jack: Here. Drink. Tell me what’s in your head right now.

Nikki: Shame. Helplessness. Jordan. And this damn disease. I was so proud of myself this morning. I– I had everything under control. More or less. And because of you, another day sober.

[ Sighs ] And then, I got cocky. That was my mistake. And one headline, that headline, jack, I could barely breathe. And– and without even thinking, I headed straight for the vodka. And then, one drink became three.

[ Nikki sighs ] I used to be so much stronger.

Jack: No, you are strong, nikki. Beating this disease is about making one good decision. You made one when you walked in that door.

Nikki: Yeah, stumbled in. And I– I know that I’m supposed to avoid triggers like jordan, but how do you do that when it’s in your head, it’s in your dreams? Awake or asleep, jordan is there, and she could be coming for me right now.

Jack: Okay, of course you are afraid. After what that woman did to you? But listen to me. The chances of her escaping are minimal. In fact, she could well have been a casualty of that fire. Look, in the unlikely chance that she did escape, that she is stupid enough to come back to genoa city, victor’s security people will protect you from her.

Nikki: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I– I know that. I– I know that logically. But this beast finds a way to feed itself. I’m just terrified. I’m going to walk out on the street, she’ll be right there.

Jack: You have to fight it, nikki. You have to fight back. You have to want it.

Nikki: I do, jack. I want it with everything in me. I just need to be strong enough.

Jack: Okay, you can’t do it alone. We have to set you up for success. You need something to make you stronger right now.

Nikki: Oh, god. You’re not going to make me eat those vending machine pretzels, are you?

Jack: No, I was thinking about bad coffee and stale donuts. You and I are going to a meeting.

Nikki: What? With me like– like this?

Jack: You would not be the first member that showed up less than sober, and sadly, you won’t be the last. Come on, what do you say? You ready to go?

Tucker: God, you abbotts are so self-righteous.

[ Tucker scoffs ] That little sermon you gave me there, you all do it. So tedious. For your information, I handpicked every member of the new board. The scandal does not scare them. On the contrary, it makes them feel like I’m looking out for them. And, uh, makes them feel like the company’s in good hands. Strong hands.

Kyle: In other words, you really scraped the bottom of the barrel for a group of people as lacking in ethics as you are. I mean, tucker, that always ends well.

Tucker: I’ll take the odds. You, on the other hand. All the family first crap. How’s that working out for you? Aren’t you passed over for the number two spot for the second time?

[ Sucks teeth ] Ouch.

Kyle: I’m exactly where I want to be.

Tucker: No, no, you’re not. All you had to do was stick with audra and me, and you would be calling the shots right now instead of always playing nice, toeing the family line.

Kyle: Yeah, I would much rather be at jabot succeeding, doing things the right way than anywhere else doing them the wrong way.

Tucker: God, can you get any more naive?

Ashley: He’s just baiting me. He’s so predictable.

Traci: You know what, ashley? Let’s not do this today. Come on, let’s go grab a croissant. We’ll walk the tuileries, we’ll do some shopping.

Ashley: Please stop. Please, just stop. I have put this off long enough. I need answers. This is the reason why I’m here. Okay, there’s the waiter from the same day, okay? That I was here. Excusez-moi, monsieur. Um, parlez-vous anglais?

Waiter: Oh, yes. I’m american.

Ashley: Oh, fantastic. Um, do you happen to remember me, by chance?

Waiter: Yes, you were here a few months ago.

Ashley: Exactly. Exactly. Do you remember anything about my companion that day?

Waiter: The gentleman who was very angry?

Ashley: Exactly. And do you remember anything specific about his behavior by chance, maybe?

Waiter: [ Sighs ] Well, he was very rude.

Ashley: Mm-hmm.

Waiter: He raised his voice several times.

Ashley: Yes.

Waiter: The commotion he made and the way he left. I felt bad for you.

Ashley: Oh. Thank you. Thank you so much. I know. It was a real spectacle when he threw the glass and broke it and he tossed the chair aside, and it was so embarrassing, right? Force factor total beets is the number one

Waiter: I’m sorry, madam. I don’t recall a broken glass or an overturned chair. Only that the gentleman got quite loud, he made a scene, and– and then he stormed out.

Ashley: No, that’s not what happened. You don’t remember correctly.

Waiter: Madam, I remember it perfectly. If you’ll excuse me.

Ashley: I remember what happened. I know what I saw, I know what I heard, I remember! I remember.

Tucker: So, diane abandons you, pretends to be dead, and then she’s given the brass ring over you. I bet that– actually, I know that’s gotta drive you crazy. Your inexperienced mother sliding into that co-ceo spot.

Kyle: Okay, let me stop you right there. For your information, I suggested my mother for the role.

Tucker: Is that what you tell yourself? You’re good with it, just happy to be part of the team?

Kyle: Hm. I wouldn’t expect you to understand or respect even the satisfaction that comes with working with family.

[ Tucker scoffs ]

Tucker: You know, kyle, for just a split second, when you were on board with audra and me, I really saw you. I saw your ambition. I saw your drive to have it all on your terms, right? Not your family’S. But at the last second, you just chickened out, just like ashley.

Kyle: Okay, leave ashley out of this.

Tucker: No, I think I’ll mention ashley all I want, thank you. You’re never going to be a player, man, until you step out of your father’s shadow. Until you do, you’re never going to take a chance on anything. Think about it. All right, well, this is tremendous service. I’m going to get my coffee elsewhere. Have a good day.

Heather: Even our daughter knows something’s up with us. Do you think– do you think she suspects the truth?

Daniel: How could she?

Heather: Right, because we’re a secret.

Daniel: Come on, it’s not like that.

Heather: Well, it kind of feels– it feels like that. Okay, I– I know that you want to tell lily about us, and I– I respect that. That’s what I want as well. But this– this idea of just– just putting us on “hold” until you get around to telling her? I– I can’t live a lie. I’m not– I’m not comfortable with that. What about lucy? I mean, she already knows we’re acting super weird. Are– are we going to tell her the truth? Or are we just going to pretend like there’s nothing–

Daniel: There’s just not an easy answer.

Heather: But there is. And it’s right here waiting for us. We love each other. We finally found our way back to each other. Do you have any idea how lucky we are? How close this was to almost never happening? Okay? And we can be a family again, a real family. We’ve lost so much time already. I don’t want to lose any more.

Daniel: No, I don’t either.

Heather: But you made this decision, and now– now we’re in this space, whatever this space is. And I’ve– I have been up all night just trying to figure out where– where do we go from here. I mean, how– how do i not look at you like I’m crazy in love with you? And how do i stand next to you and not want to hold your hand? And how– how do I be this close to you and not get to kiss you? I can’t–

Daniel: I was up all night, too, asking myself the same questions.

Heather: And?

Daniel: This isn’t easy to say.

Heather: Are you taking a step back from what happened? I’m jonathan lawson,

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

When your gut is

out of balance,

Daniel: No, I am absolutely not backing away from what happened. I want us to be a family again just as bad as you do. I mean, I’m going to spend every single day of the rest of our lives making up to you and luce for what we lost because of my stupidity.

Heather: Why do I feel like I hear a “but”?

Daniel: [ Sighs ] Because what we did, as right as it felt, I still cheated on lily. I can’t keep disrespecting her by continuing to do that behind her back.

Heather: But you won’t fly to california to tell her.

Daniel: Okay, it’s not that I don’t want to. I just– I feel like the timing is off. You know? Devon said that lily was having a really hard time dealing with the whole situation with mattie. I don’t really think that it would be fair for me just to fly out there, dump this on her and break off our relationship out of the blue. And I’m– I’m just grateful that devon is giving me the chance to be the one to tell her.

Heather: You’re an honorable man. And I kind of hate that right now.

[ Daniel laughs ]

Daniel: Yeah, well, you know, I’m just– I’m trying to do the right thing for everyone involved.

Heather: Okay. And in the meantime, you don’t want to, you know, just… do anything at all behind her back.

Daniel: I would love nothing more than to spend every single night with you in my arms. But I can’T. I would hate myself.

Heather: Okay. And it is almost impossible for me to be this close to you and know I cannot touch you, so… where does that leave us?

Nikki: And I thought I was making progress. Hour, minute, second at a time.

[ Nikki sighs ] I slipped again today. And every time that happens, I feel like I’m falling deeper into the abyss. And each time, it–

[ Nikki sighs ] Makes it that much harder to climb out, you know? And there are moments when I don’t think I can do it. I– I– I don’t think I’m strong enough to do it. But then I remember… I did beat this once. And I will do it again. For every fear that this demon feeds on, I’m going to fight back. I will find the courage to keep fighting whatever this disease throws at me. And with the help of my family, my friends, my sponsor… I am going to win.

Traci: Okay, ashley, you know, I– in the middle of an argument, emotions are running high. It’s easy to get confused.

Ashley: I am not– I’m not confused.

Traci: Okay. I’m just saying it happens to everyone. Obviously, tucker was a brute. He was completely–

Ashley: He was violent and I was terrified and the waiter’s wrong! Listen, the waiter is wrong or he’s lying. Oh, my god. He’s lying. Tucker got to him. The message that he left me. He said he knew I was going to be at this café and he knew exactly what the waiter would say. Now, how would he know that unless he bribed him? How would he know?

Traci: I don’t know. I–

Ashley: Well, I do. This is exactly what he would do. Exactly. He will do anything at all to win, traci. And if he could torture me in the process, all the better. Hey. How much did tucker mccall pay you to lie for him?

If you have this…

Waiter: I– I assure you, madam, I’ve only spoken the truth.

Traci: Uh, ashley, look, let’s just get out of here. Come– come on.

Ashley: I need to be alone.

Traci: Ashley. Wait. Ashley.

Daniel: Look, the big thing, the important thing has happened. We’re going to be a family again.

Heather: Someday. Sometime after you feel that lily is ready to handle the news, which– which could be weeks, it could be– could be months.

[ Daniel laughs ]

Daniel: I wouldn’t never ask you to wait that long.

Heather: Okay, but the truth is, you don’t really know how long, do you? And our daughter, she is very intuitive. How long do you think that we can keep this from her? Because when she finds out, and she will find out, are we going to ask her to lie for us as well? Lucy has wanted us back together for so long.

[ Daniel chuckles ]

Daniel: How could you tell?

Heather: She’s so subtle.

Daniel: Yeah, so subtle. Well, was it her trying to convince you that it was my idea to have you come over for pancakes? Or– or maybe when she just, you know couldn’t live without one of your grilled cheeses?

Heather: She is clever and brilliant and she loves us. And she knew that we were meant to be.

Daniel: Yeah, well, we are. We will be.

Heather: Are you sure?

Daniel: What does that mean?

Heather: It means that while we’re waiting for our life to begin, is there any chance you’re going to start overthinking and second guessing that maybe this was a mistake or a weak moment?

Daniel: Okay, listen, that is not going to happen. Look, I am committed to this and to us and to you. Hey, look at me. Heather. I love you. I have always loved you. You know, that has never changed. I maybe put it on pause for a minute, but that is not going to happen again. But I need to be fair to lily and I just need you to accept that.

Heather: I have always loved your kindness and your fairness. The last thing I want to be is selfish, but I am. Because as much as my heart goes out to lily, I finally have the daniel back again. The daniel I am in love with. And I just– I don’t want to risk anything, not even for a second.

Daniel: You’re not risking anything. Nothing’s going to happen. Just wait it out. Be patient.

Heather: I’ve never been a patient woman.

Daniel: [ Chuckles ] I know. But…

Heather: But… we will do this together.

Daniel: Okay.

Heather: You will tell lily when you think she’s ready and I will be right here waiting for the second we can live our lives as a family again. Just don’t take too long.

[ Door clicks ]

Daniel: You can come out from hiding now, luce. Shingles.

Daniel: You are busted, young lady.

Lucy: Worth it. I knew it. I knew that this would happen. I knew that you guys still loved each other. And hey, you guys are lucky that I’m not subtle because who knows when you would have figured this out. But now it’s actually happening. Except you guys are together but not exactly.

Heather: Not exactly.

Daniel: Just until I tell lily. I know it’s not an ideal situation, but I need to respect her feelings.

Lucy: No, I– I understand. But does this mean that we get to, like, have dinners together and hang out, do family stuff?

Daniel: We need to lay low for a little bit, you know, just until everything settles. But family stuff. Yeah. No, we can– we can do that because that’s what we are.

Heather: So much family stuff.

Lucy: I love you guys so much.

Daniel: Oh. [ Grunts ]

[ Phone ringing ]

Tucker: Ashley.

Ashley: You bastard.

Tucker: Bonjour.

Ashley: You are the most disgusting, repulsive piece of scum I’ve ever known.

Tucker: Sounds like you’re enjoying paris.

Ashley: You paid off that waiter.

Tucker: [ Laughs ] Yes. Yes. Busted. I paid off the waiter, ashley. What you keep accusing me of in paris never happened, okay? There was no breaking of wine glasses, no throwing of chairs, no violence whatsoever. None. Zero. Those are the facts. Accept them.

Ashley: I know you and I know what you’re capable of. I know how angry you are, and you’re going to do anything you can. You want to make me think I’m crazy just to get back at me.

Tucker: I’m trying to make you see the truth.

Ashley: I am not delusional.

Tucker: I don’t know what you want to call it. There’s reality, and then there’s whatever universe you’re living in. Hello? Ashley? Ashley?

Traci: Excuse me. I’m so sorry. Did my sister come back?

Waiter: No, madam.

Traci: Thank you.

[ Traci sighs ] Okay. Jack, I was hoping that you would pick up. It’s me. Um, you might want to sit down for this. Ashley has disappeared. We talked to a waiter who witnessed the incident between her and tucker and… he remembered not the version that ashley told us, the version that tucker did. I’m sure you are just as shocked as I am to hear that.

[ Sighs ] Ashley took off. I hope it’s just to clear her head, to, you know, to– to process what she’s just learned, but I’m so worried about her. She’s not answering her phone. If you hear from her, will you please let me know? And I will do the same for you. Uh– oh, jack. All right, I– I love you. Bye.

[ Traci sighs ]

Nikki: I don’t know what i would’ve done without you, jack.

Jack: You don’t have to know. I’m always a phone call away.

Nikki: The meeting helped.

Jack: Sometimes, all we need is a reminder of how strong we are. You proved that today.

Nikki: Yeah, except for when I drank.

Jack: But you’re sober now, clear headed.

Nikki: Sure. Ready to face the world.

Jack: You sure? I’m happy to drive you home.

Nikki: No, no, I– I need to be here. Focusing on work is a good distraction from all the noise in my head. And this time, I might actually even get some work done. Thank you again for everything that you’re doing. You give me hope that I can do this.

Jack: You can do this. I know you can. I’m just glad I can help.

Victor: What are you doing here?

[ Relaxing music ]

Steffy: This is a nice surprise.

Finn: You think you’re gonna be working late?

Steffy: Mm… not anymore.

Finn: It’s– it’s too bad we can’t sneak away when you come to the hospital.

Steffy: You know how much I’d love that? Mm-hmm.

Finn: Yeah.

Steffy: I’m so happy you’re here.

Finn: Yeah.

Steffy: How’s my, uh… how’s my grandfather?

Finn: Well, we’ve run some more tests and we’ll know more about his long-term prognosis soon.

Steffy: Oh, gosh, I am just so, so grateful. I mean, yes, I’M… I’m still nervous.

Finn: I know.

Steffy: Granddad’s the cornerstone of our family. But you saved his life.

Ridge: There he is.

Finn: Hey.

Ridge: The man of the hour. I feel like I haven’t said it enough. I just– I– we owe you… a great debt. You– you’re, um, what you did was amazing, and it just makes me realize how fleeting these moments are and how lucky we are to be here.

Steffy: Hey, are… what’s going on?

Ridge: Nothing. I’m all right. I’m just thanking him and, um… had a bit of a discussion with brooke about the usual thing.

Steffy: Let me guess. It’s about hope and thomas. Of course.

[ Sighs heavily ]

Zende: Wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. Now this… this is something special, rj.

Rj: Yeah, I’m feeling really good about it.

Luna: Yeah, it’s amazing.

Zende: You know that this is some of the most expensive real estate in the world?

Rj: Yeah, it’s probably why bill actually didn’t even want to get rid of it. I’m renting it from spencer, of all people, right?

[ Zende laughs ]

Zende: Yeah, I, uh, I doubt that dollar bill would be cutting you a deal on this. A multimillion dollar home in malibu? Now, granddad, he must have cut you a huge bonus for you to be able to swing this place. Oh, hold on a second. What am I saying? It’s not coming out of your pocket. Ridge and brooke are so happy to have their son back home, I’m sure they’re paying for it, aren’t they?

Luna: Hey, you guys are family, and I hate to see this tension or rivalry or whatever it is.

Zende: There’s no rivalry. I’ve already made a name for myself in this business. You’re just starting out. But it must be nice having the great ridge forrester giving you a boost.

Ridge: It’s okay. Just brooke and I had a bit of a difference of opinion.

Steffy: About hope and thomas? What? Something happened?

Finn: Something bad?

Ridge: No. It’s not– well, I don’t know. It’s not bad. It’s, uh… it was unexpected.

Steffy: Oh, great. Now, I’m afraid to ask.

Ridge: Your brother proposed.

[ Thomas chuckles ]

Thomas: That was amazing.

Hope: I’ve, uh… I’ve never felt this way before. I don’t know what it is, but I just… I can’t get enough of you.

[Coughing] I– of c me such a hard t

Zende: Don’t misunderstand me, rj. I’m proud to be a part of this family. I know you are, too.

Rj: Then why are you giving me such a hard time about it, zende?

Zende: Because I don’t think you realize how lucky you are.

Rj: How lucky I am? I– of course I do. I do.

Zende: Look, man, I wasn’t born into all of this the way you were. My life could have turned out very differently. I was left alone at an orphanage in africa. I was a scared, helpless little kid. I had no one. I lost both my parents. Until kristen, your aunt, adopted me. She has been a wonderful mother. She and my father, they love me. They support everything I’ve done. Always have.

Luna: And they’re both designers too.

Zende: Yes, they’re great ones. But they don’t live in L.A. My mother is not here to have my back the way ridge has yours. Your parents run the company. Brooke and ridge are fashion royalty, and you’re the little prince.

Luna: No one treats rj like that, zende. I mean, he works just as hard as–

Zende: I know. I know he works, okay? And honestly, you guys did tear it up in preparation for the fashion showdown, but that isn’t the point I’m trying to make. I’m trying to make you understand where I’m coming from. I’m older than you. I have more experience. I’ve studied design for years. You’re just a couple months into it, learning at the knee of your dad and granddad. Be real, man. If you were in my shoes, you’d be frustrated too.

Finn: And so, thomas had the ring in his pocket?

Ridge: Apparently, he proposed right in the office.

Steffy: That is so romantic.

Ridge: Oh, come on.

Finn: It’s a good thing hope is at least giving it some thought.

Steffy: Oh, she’s not gonna forget about it because it’s a necklace with a ring on it wrapped around her neck.

Ridge: Steffy…

Steffy: So cool.

Ridge: It’s a symbol of his commitment. Give him a break.

Steffy: Symbol of his commitment? Really? How long is this gonna take?

Ridge: I don– he’s gonna give her time so she can make up her own mind. That’s nice.

Steffy: Make up her own mind?

Ridge: Yes.

Steffy: Really? Okay, what if hope says no? What’s that gonna do to thomas? All of the progress he’s made? I mean, she has him just holding on. He’s like stuck in limbo. And I don’t think that’s a very healthy place to be.

Thomas: I’ve never experienced anything like this before. You, your intensity, your passion. You just continue to surprise me.

Hope: I don’t know. I think you bring it out in me.

Thomas: Mm.

Hope: Mm-hmm. This. I don’t know, it’s like it’s something… wild, uninhibited. And… you have a spark and it just ignites all of my desire. Ah mornings!

Steffy: Look, I’m always gonna have thomas’s back. But is this proposal a good idea? Or is it gonna throw him off track?

Finn: Well, you know where I stand. I’m just trying to be as supportive and understanding as I can be.

Ridge: Yeah, and sometimes that means taking a step back, letting grown-ups make their own mistakes.

Finn: He’s– he’s your brother, he’s your son, of course you want him to work this out, but I can’t help but feel for hope after everything that thomas has put her through in the past.

Ridge: Okay. He’s not the same man anymore. He worked hard. He– he deserves love. He’s– he’s worthy of it.

Steffy: I agree a thousand percent. But with hope?

[ Thomas and hope sighing ]

Hope: Wow. I don’t understand what has gotten into me. I can’t get enough of you.

[ Thomas chuckles ]

Rj: I see your perspective, zende, okay? And I just want to let you know that I respect the amount of passion that you have for design and for our company. And I get it. I see what you’re saying, right? You don’t want to be overlooked.

Zende: Or underestimated.

Rj: Or underestimated. Zende, you don’t have to worry about that, man. But I’m gonna give your designs a look, okay? I’ll probably learn a thing or two from them. All right? I will, uh… I’ll give them a look tomorrow morning.

Zende: Tomorrow morning? Because…

Rj: Yeah, I have plans with luna tonight.

Zende: Oh. Okay then. I look forward to hearing from you… tomorrow morning.

Rj: Hey, zende. I mean it. I get why you’re– you’re frustrated, okay? But luna’s right, dude. We’re family and we used to be really close. And I hope we can be again.

Zende: Have a nice night. Bye, luna.

Rj: Think he heard me?

Luna: I’m sorry. I know how much you hate being at odds with him.

Rj: Yeah. Well, there’s only one person I’m focused on tonight. Attention medicare beneficiaries…

Rj: Now, if there’s, uh… no more interruptions.

[ Luna laughs ]

Luna: Um… not yet.

Rj: What do you think? Think we broke the curse?

Luna: Oh, we’re not cursed. We’re just, um… we’re popular.

Rj: Tonight, I want you all for myself.

Luna: We’ve waited a long time for this. All my life.

Rj: Yeah. I want it to be a beautiful night. I want it to be perfect for you.

Luna: I want it to be a beautiful, perfect night too.

Steffy: I agree with you, dad. Thomas has changed, but he deserves to be with someone who truly appreciates him and loves him. Hope can’t give him that.

Finn: And you can’t blame her for being hesitant. So much has happened in the past.

Ridge: Let’s not worry about what happened in the past. Let’s just leave that behind us. Can we do that? Let’s worry about what’s happening now.

Steffy: Okay. Thomas is having a great time with hope, but maybe– maybe he should be with someone who gets excited when he puts a ring on their finger.

Ridge: How do you know she’s not excited? Listen, I get it. You’re looking out for your brother, you don’t want him to get hurt.

Steffy: He could, dad.

Ridge: Of course! We could all get hurt. That’s what happens. It’s– it’s love. There’s no guarantees. That’s why we gotta be positive. Look at the good things, not the bad things. It’s too easy to do that. Look at you guys. You went through a lot. You’re still going through it, but you’re good. You’re better than you were. Am I right? I’m with brooke. We’ve had our ups and downs for sure, but we’re still here. If your brother wants to find– if he wants to find some happiness, let him have it. If he thinks he can find it with hope, let him try.

Thomas: You’re so beautiful. This is what I want. All the time. Just to be with you, to love you, to touch you, kiss you.

[ Thomas sighing ] You say you don’t understand this. That’s ’cause you never had this before. Never been with a man who wants to be with you and only you. Who cherishes you. Someone you can trust. Someone who’s given you his heart. ‘Cause I have. I’ve given you my heart ’cause I trust you. And you can trust me too. You can trust me with your heart because I cherish it. I’m never gonna hurt it. You’ve experienced that pain before. But you never have to again. Hope… you can have that for the rest of your life. All you have to do is take this ring… off this necklace, put it on your finger. Say you’ll marry me, hope. Say you’ll be my wife.

THIS STILL NEEDS SOME EDITING!

[romantic music]

It’s in my every dream   Your kiss, your hair   Your smell so sweet   Oh   It comes around again and all over again, this feeling   Whenever you’re near   So sweet

[baby crying]

Hey, how goes it?

Oh, you know. Just a run-of-the-mill day. You know, combing through public records, chasing down sources, trying to essentially change the way people think and act. Saving the world, basically.

Okay. Doing it impressively, I’m sure. How’s the– how’s the story coming along?

Oh, good. Should be in your inbox shortly. I’m thinking this will evolve into more of a series, you know?

Right. Yeah. Because it’s not just about who’s dealing the drugs, but how it affects our city, our society.

Yeah, people we know, you know, who need a voice.

[soft dramatic music]

[sighs] Okay. Come on, Theresa. You can do this. You are smart. You are competent. And you don’t need help from anybody.

Not even me?

Hi.

Hi.

Alex. I’m just trying to figure out this layout issue in the mockup here.

May I take a look? All right, what have we got?

You see? It just doesn’t make any sense. There’s too much visual clutter.

I think it makes sense to me.

Sorry. Sorry to interrupt you guys, but I have some forms from Justin that–

Brady, thank God you’re here. I really need your help badly.

[grunting]

Don’t overdo it.

I got it. I got it. I know what my body can handle. Ow! Ow. Maybe not. How’s the investigation going?

I’m off to the hospital now to interview a perp from the last drug raid. Hopefully the bullet in his arm loosens his lips. Look–

[whispers] Aw, man.

I know it takes a little while to build a case. And I know this is not going as fast as you– you hoped it would.

Damn right, it isn’t. Not with Clyde Weston out there running the operation.

Like I told you a million times, you are safe here.

Yeah, I know what you said. And I’d like to believe you. But I know that Clyde Weston’s core mission in life right now is to find me and kill me.

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

[baby crying]

Baby, it’s okay. Let him cry. He needs to self-soothe, remember?

Yeah, but it sounds like he really needs something.

I really need something. I need you.

Okay, baby, let me just check on him first. I’ll be right back.

[baby wailing]

[soft dramatic music]

So what’s wrong?

What isn’t wrong? Everything. I mean, the mockup isn’t matching what’s being sent to the printer, and I think I’ve royally screwed up some ads. Can you please–can you please just look at this, Brady, please?

Okay. Let me take a look, okay? Hold on. What do you got here? Oh. Okay, okay. I see the issue. You have excessive visual elements going on. You just have to make the composition a little less overwhelming, okay?

Okay.

It’s not a big deal. I mean, you just have to finesse it a little bit. I can help you with this.

Thank you. You are such a lifesaver. Thank you.

It’s all right. Tell you what. Why don’t you go get the original proof sheet for the layout? It’s on my desk, okay?

I’m on it.

Okay.

I’m on it.

All right.

Brady to the rescue.

Alex. That means you resent it, right? I mean you urged me to make sure that she feels better with her job here, right?

[tense music]

Okay. Let’s get to work.

Right. Let’s get to work. Okay, rule number one, we know that the best performing ads have zero minimal text, right?

Yeah, I definitely know that, and I still managed to blow it.

No, you didn’t blow it. You didn’t blow it. All you got to do is a couple things here, and we can fix it. It’s going to be just fine, all right?

Okay.

Lucas, I know this is not ideal, but you are out of prison.

Yeah.

And you have done your part. Now you have to trust me to do mine. I’ll see you later.

[door clicks open]

[door shuts, lock clicks]

[soft dramatic music]

[line ringing]

Hey, it’s Lucas.

Lucas? Your number came up on my– aren’t you supposed to be in Statesville?

No, I’m in Salem.

What, were you released? Lucas, you didn’t escape, did you?

No, I didn’t. Listen, I’ll explain later, but right now– right now I need you to come to Harris Michaels’ place over the Brady Pub. We need to talk, man. I need your help.

Okay, will do. Just stay put. What the hell?

Who was that?

You’ll know soon enough. We have to go. We have a meeting with a very important person.

[soft dramatic music]

You really were hungry, weren’t you, big guy?

He’s almost asleep.

Finally. Okay. Now come here.

Let me just take a minute and– I don’t want him to wake up and start screaming again.

Oh, come on.

[whispers] What? I mean, if he wakes up again, you know, you can go back over there and dote over him like the hovering papa bear that you are.

Okay. Okay, okay. I’ll stop doting and hovering.

[giggles]

[knocking on door] Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me!

Okay.

You’ve got–what?

I’ll get it. I’ll get it.

What? No.

[knocking on door] Why would you answer the door? They will go away.

Listen, if somebody doesn’t answer it, they’re going to wake up the baby.

Oh. All right. Fine.

Who is it?

It’s your very first client, Mr. Hunky Shutterbug.

It’s Leo.

Do not let him in.

What, do you think he’s going to go away?

Hey.

Finally.

I’m sorry, it’s just really not a good time.

So I’m out and about, doing some research for my column– AKA shopping– and it dawns on me, you and I have not done a proper review of those brilliant photos we took together. Most of which I love, by the way. You really did capture my essence. My charm, charisma comes shining through in large part thanks to your extraordinary talent and proficiency.

So you’re stopping by because you want to review your photos? Now?

Mm-hmm. Unless this isn’t a good time.

You make this look so easy.

[chuckles]

That’s because I, too, am fallible, Theresa. I’ve made all these mistakes before, repeatedly. I think I’m just proficient now at fixing them. I also know that having every small department up in arms over the dumbest and most ridiculous of mistakes is not only challenging, but it’s infuriating, right?

I know, right?

That’s better. Hey. Don’t let it get to you. You’ll be fine.

I’ll try not to. Thank you so much again for your help.

I have no doubt this magazine will be successful in the future. And I think you’re going to be a big part of that success.

[tender music]

Oh. Hello, Harris.

Hello, Dr. Evans.

How are you? How’s everything?

Well, honestly, not great. I was just paying a visit to a injured perp who got shot during a recent raid. And I was hoping that he’d want to clear up his conscience to give up his boss, but that didn’t happen.

Oh. That must be frustrating.

Yeah. I mean dealing with this– this drug ring, it’s like any time you think you make any headway at all, you just hit another wall.

Well, maybe you want to talk about it. I’ve got some time, if you do.

I do, actually. And it would be really good to talk to you again.

[soft dramatic music]

When I asked you to come over, I didn’t mean for you to bring backup.

Relax, all right? I trust him and so can you. Okay? This is Everett Lynch, my editor-in-chief. Everett, this is Lucas Horton, Abigail’s uncle. We’re here to help, man.

[tense music]

All right, fine. Nice to meet you.

Nice to meet you.

Guys, have a seat, okay? I have a hell of a story to tell you.

Alex, hello.

Hey, Maggie, how are you?

I’m well. I’m glad I ran into you. Do you have a moment to talk?

Sure. What’s on your mind?

Theresa. I’m worried about her. I ran into her at a meeting and I spoke to her myself as a sponsor. She seemed fairly guarded with me. Is she all right?

Well, I mean, all things considered, yeah. Definitely. I’m just trying my best to be there for her and understand what she’s going through.

Oh. I don’t think you can.

What? Why do you say that?

Alex, being in a relationship with an addict, it takes a great deal of patience and empathy and maturity.

And I’m guessing you don’t think I possess any of those qualities.

Listen, listen. It’s just been my experience with you. And I know people can change. They can become more mature and more patient. But right now, with everything Theresa is going through, I don’t think you’re equipped to handle it.

Wow. So I’m assuming because I’m so immature and impatient and lacking in empathy, you think I should break up with Theresa. Am I right?

Yes, you’re right. That’s exactly what I think.

[scoffs]

Listen, Leo, since you decided to show up without calling, how about we just make this quick, all right? I’ll get my computer.

Oh, that can wait just a spell. First, I want to coo over this sweet little angel of yours. Baby boy Jude, who looks surprisingly like you, Eric. Maybe it’s his big soulful eyes, perfect little nose.

Right. Well, you can’t right now, Leo. Because as you can see, he is sound asleep.

That’s fine. I don’t mind waiting for the sweet little snickerdoodle to wake up. In the meantime, could you grab me a drink? Maybe a Long Island iced tea? And if you don’t have vodka, tequila, gin or rum, regular iced tea is fine.

[knocking on door]

Great. No, let’s just have a party. Bring out the bubbly, Eric.

Sloan, have you not seen my texts?

No, I haven’t. As you can see, I’ve been a little preoccupied.

Oh, hello, Leo. Eric.

Well, Melinda Trask, as I live and breathe. Have you come to see the child you purloined for– I’m sorry, acquired for this lovely couple? Gosh, I’ve been stumbling over my words a lot lately. I hope it’s not really senseless.

I’m just checking in about the christening. Have you two set a date?

We haven’t yet, no.

Oh, good. Because as Jude’s godmother, I’d like to run a few details for the joyous occasion.

Hold the phone. You are this little chunky monkey’s godmother?

I am Jude’s godmother.

That is so special. And, you know, that makes us a couple. Not in the biblical sense, heaven forbid. But I happen to be this little jellybean’s godfather.

Wait a minute. What?

So you think I should break up with Theresa because, well, basically, I’m a jerk.

I didn’t use that word, Alex. And I don’t think that. I just want what’s best for Theresa. As her sponsor, as you know, I feel very strongly. I think she would be better off on her own right now, that that would be the best for her recovery.

Well, I happen to disagree. And, for the record, I have been plenty patient and understanding with her.

Okay. Maybe you have been. And maybe you will continue to be. Okay, I’m just going to say it.

Oh, God.

Until you leave her for another hot, young woman who happens to cross your path.

Yeah, see, that’s not going to happen again, Maggie.

Really?

I’m not that person anymore.

Really?

Mm.

Okay, so you are committed to Theresa for the long haul.

What I’m saying is, I’m done with being a player. I’m in therapy, Maggie. I’m working hard on myself. I’m trying to become a more substantial person. And look, I understand how that might make you a little bit skeptical. But at the end of the day, the only thing that’s important to me is that I am sincere about this and my feelings for Theresa. Truly, you know, watching her hurt like that, to the point where she had to get high to deal with the pain– It broke my heart. I never want to add to that pain.

Okay. I believe you. And if you are truly in it for the long haul with Theresa, I recommend that you check out a addicts support group. You need to help yourself so you can help her.

Thank you again so much for saving me. Again, thank you.

You don’t need to thank me. It’s all in a day’s work.

No. Honestly, Brady. You just went above and beyond… like when you went above and beyond for me when I had my slip. I can’t tell you how much that meant to me.

Hey, I got a letter from Tate this morning.

Me too.

Oh, you did?

Yeah. He was so sweet, reassuring me that he was okay.

Yeah.

He’s really strong, and he’s so brave.

[somber music] You know, he takes after his dad in that way.

Come on. You know, I see a lot of you in him as well. His humor–he’s funny. His sense of adventure, he definitely got from his mom.

Well, I don’t know. Wherever he got it from, he’s a good kid, right?

He is a good kid. Look at us. We must have done something right, huh?

So let me get this straight. You’re a confidential informant who’s been feeding intel to Harris Michaels about a drug operation here in Salem.

Yeah. And for my troubles, I got a beat down. I’m still recovering from it.

And how did you end up here?

Harris pulled some strings, you know. He knew I wasn’t going to last much longer in prison. So he brought me here to keep his eye on me.

Do you have any idea who’s coming for you?

Yeah, I do. The ringleader, Clyde Weston.

Clyde Weston? I should have known.

[dramatic music]

There’s just not a day that goes by that I don’t think about all the kids affected by this, especially Holly Jonas.

Yeah. She’s in Italy with her mom right now. She’s getting treatment. She seems to be improving, so we’re feeling optimistic.

That’s good news. Yeah, I’m praying for her.

Everybody is. How are you personally?

You know, I’m all right. Just trying to sort some stuff out.

What stuff?

As you know, Ava and I, you know, we got close.

How’s that going?

Well, that’s–that’s over.

She’s with Stefan DiMera now. Or, you know, she claims.

What does that mean?

I mean there’s nothing between them. It’s just a lie.

[dramatic music]

So you think that Ava and Stefan are pretending to be in a relationship?

I mean, really, it doesn’t matter what I think. She moved on, and I just–you know, I just have to accept it.

[tense music]

I imagine you still have some feelings for her.

Yeah, no, I do. You know, I felt a connection there that I didn’t expect. And I think she– I think she felt it, too. But, I mean, it’s over, you know? And I have to just stay focused on the task at hand. And that’s ending this drug epidemic in Salem. So… I guess it’s back to work for me. Thank you for listening. It’s good to see you.

I’m always here for you.

[door shuts]

Did you tell Leo that he was Jude’s–

Of course not. Leo was joking. He is not Jude’s godfather. He was just trying to be funny as usual, although I sure as hell didn’t find it very funny.

Could that be because you don’t have a sense of humor? Oh, you make up for it with charm and charisma of your own. Alas, it’s true. I have yet to be anointed godfather to this sweet little boy, whose birth mother must have had no choice but to give him up. Which would be heartbreaking if not for the fact that he now has a father who adores him, a mother with a heart of stone–ay, gold. There I go again, flubbing my words. When is the christening, by the way?

We haven’t set a date yet.

Why not? What’s the holdup?

Well, I was kind of hoping to wait for Nicole, till she got back.

Wait, what? You want the woman who kidnapped your son to be here for his christening?

We’ve moved past that.

[scoffs]

And listen, Sloan, I forgot to tell you that I got a text from Nicole this morning. You know, she wanted to give me an update on Holly.

Oh. Well, is Holly out of the coma?

No, not yet. But the good news is that she’s kind of responding to stimuli. So listen, she just was very excited and looking forward to Jude’s christening. So if it’s all right, I’d just like to wait for her to be here for it.

Oh, wow. That is so kind, Eric. After everything that Nicole has been through, she must be at your son’s christening. It would do her heart some good. Wouldn’t you agree, Sloan?

[tense music]

Well, thank you for your suggestion, Maggie, about the support group. I’ll definitely check that out.

I think it’ll be very helpful. How is Theresa managing at work?

Well, I mean, it’s been a challenge. But, you know, she’s a smart girl, as you know. She’s determined. So I think she’ll meet that challenge. And she has my support, of course.

I’m sure she does. I know we talked about this at Christmas, but I think it’s time we reconsidered my stepping back in at Titan.

Well, my stance on that part hasn’t changed, Maggie. Your services at Titan are not needed.

According to you. But, you know, maybe it is something I need to bring up before the board.

Well, good luck with that. Anyway, I’m going to run. Thank you again for the advice about the support group. I’m definitely going to check it out. But as far as the whole “you coming back to Titan” thing– it’s not going to happen. Not on my watch.

So how did you communicate with Harris?

I had a standing call with my doctor, you know. And we had to vary our methods of communication to avoid drawing attention to ourselves. But I guess it didn’t work because the next thing I know, I got my brains beat out.

And during the beating, did– did the attacker say anything? Did he give you any clues as to his identity?

Look, I’m sure they did, but I didn’t catch any of it, all right? There were a lot of them. I couldn’t see anything. And next thing I knew, I was in a lot of pain and I was in the infirmary.

[dramatic music]

What the hell is going on here?

I’m counting the days until we can see our son, you know. Our precious son.

I have kind of obsessively been looking at old photos on my phone.

You too?

Yeah. Yeah, I mean, baby pictures, preschool pictures. That video you sent me years ago of him singing, “If You’re Happy and You Know It, Clap Your Hands.”

Oh, I love that video so much. Or what about the one where he’s– he’s trying to eat the cookies through his Spider-Man mask?

The Spider-Man? I saw that one too. Yeah. Because he has the cookie and he can’t find the hole in the mouth, so he’s putting it all over his face.

I love it so much. It’s so cute.

I don’t even know if he ate any of the cookie because–

No. I don’t think he did.

It was in the mask.

[both laugh]

What’s funny? What’s funny?

Hey, Alex. Nothing. We’re just laughing because we were talking about old videos that we’ve been looking at of Tate when he was a little boy.

Right. Okay, well, I’m going to get going. You’re good. Okay? All right.

Brady.

Yeah?

Thanks again.

You’re welcome. Any time.

[tense music]

So did Brady solve all your problems?

Yes. We solved them.

And Alex… we need to talk.

Yeah, to wait for Nicole to come back from Italy. That’s okay by me. I mean, there’s no reason to rush to schedule a christening.

Thank you. Thank you for understanding. Leo, let’s go check out your photos.

That is why I’m here. Hoping we can airbrush out some of these tiny little lines around my eyes, maybe puff up my lips a little bit, maybe extend my eyelashes.

Sure, whatever you’d like.

[tense music]

What the hell is Leo doing here?

What do you think? He’s here to torture me, of course. Oh, my God. Between him and the baby–

What? Between him and the baby what?

Look, I can only admit this to you, but I just don’t think I’m cut out to be a mother. No, it’s like every time that Eric and I start to have sex, the kid starts crying.

You’re not getting any sympathy here from me.

And let’s not even talk about the constant diaper changes, the spit up, the waking up in the middle of the night to feed him, the sleep deprivation.

Wait, wait, what? You didn’t think this was– you didn’t know what it was going to be like? Did you never babysit or have a friend with a child? Did you ever read what to expect in the first year?

Actually, no. Literally none of the above.

Oh, my God. If we could just have a nanny.

Then get one.

Eric doesn’t want one. He thinks that we should do all the work for Jude because it’s going to be better for him. God only knows how. And anyways, we can’t even afford a nanny. I mean, Leo is sucking up half my income. And Eric, you know, he’s just starting out with his photography business.

I get that you’re stressed, okay? But you need to focus, all right? And just stick to the plan. All of this will get easier.

Yeah. It’s going to get easier in years. I don’t know if I can make it another months.

Well, you better make it, Sloan. Because if you give in to your princessy need to not be woken up or spat up upon, and give Jude back to Nicole, you will be trading years of raising a child with prison, for you and for me and for Leo, for ruining your life and ours. Is that what you want?

Thank you, Henry. I appreciate the board’s support. Okay. I’ll– I’ll be in touch.

Hey there.

Hey.

Hi, Maggie. How’s it going?

Oh, it’s okay.

It’s okay.

I’m just trying to stay focused on the positive. Oh, and speaking of which, I got an email from Nicole. And apparently the therapies for Holly are very promising.

That is so good. Oh, good, good. I will–I’ll relay that to Justin, so he can let my son, Tate, know.

Right. How are you doing, Brady?

I’m treading water, Maggie, with everything that’s happened with Tate and Theresa.

Yeah. Well, this is a challenging time for you, Brady. And I’m hoping that maybe I can help.

[gentle music]

Are you trying to get yourself killed?

Trying to do the opposite.

What, by going after Weston in the press? You don’t think that’s going to provoke him? And did it not occur to you that you’re putting your loved ones in danger, Lucas? Come on, man. Use your head. And what’s the guarantee that these two won’t reveal your location?

Okay, first of all, that’s not going to happen, all right? Lucas is family. And Clyde Weston– he murdered my wife. So I want that son of a bitch to rot in hell.

Look. People have a right to know what’s going on, okay? Uncovering the network behind this drug crisis and publishing it could absolutely save lives.

No. No. If you publish this, you jeopardize all the work that we’ve done!

So what, you want us not to run it?

No, I just want you to wait. Can you wait? Please. Because thanks to Lucas, we got a big drug bust going down soon.

[suspenseful music] Wait a minute. What if I give you… the exclusive on the bust if you hold the story?

Deal.

Whenever a conversation starts with “we need to talk,” I get a bad feeling.

Well, don’t. Because it’s nothing bad. I just know that you weren’t that happy before when Brady saved the day for me.

Actually, I’m glad he was here. He helped you. That’s all that matters. And I also have been thinking about joining this addict support group meeting, just so I have a better understanding of everything you’re kind of going through. I’m trying to be a little bit more supportive.

[tender music]

You would do that for me?

I’d do anything for you.

Wow. How did I get so lucky?

I’m the lucky one.

Maybe if I shut that door… I can get even luckier.

Mm-hmm.

I think if you shut that door, you’re definitely going to get luckier.

You want back in at Titan.

Well, for many reasons. The most important being that I could be there to be in a more supportive role for Theresa. And I could take some of the burden off of you.

That’s very kind of you. Did you talk to Alex about this?

Oh, Alex thinks he can manage it all. But no, he rejected the idea of my coming back.

Uh-huh. Well, that’s a big mistake. Because you are a terrific businesswoman, and Titan is better when you are a part of it. So I’m going to talk to the board and I’m going to gauge their feelings, okay?

Please do, Brady. Because I just want to make sure that I’m doing what’s best for all of us to thrive, be it in business or in life in general.

I know. God bless you for that.

Oh.

[gentle music]

So are you happy now?

What do you mean happy now? I got to shack up with a guy I don’t even know. And I’m worried that some other guy is going to bump me off.

You should be even more worried now. Why would you talk to journalists unless you want Weston to find you? I’m trying to keep you alive, Lucas.

Where were you when I got jumped, huh? Were you trying to keep me alive then? And where’s Clyde getting his information from anyway?

We can’t be sure.

I’m sure. Because I know exactly how he operates. He’s got guys embedded inside the Salem PD. That’s why I did what I did today. I’m trying to end his reign of terror, all right? I’m trying to– I’m trying to save lives, including my own!

[tense music]

I’m going to clean this later.

Oh. Okay. Yeah, you will. Right now I have something else in mind.

Oh, yeah? What?

[knocking on door]

Oh, no. Just please don’t let it be Leo.

I’ll get it. Who is it?

It’s your mom.

Hi, Mom.

Hi, darling. I hope I’m not intruding, but I was in the neighborhood and thought I’d catch a peek at my grandbaby.

Yeah.

[low notes]

The story is going to go viral for sure. And when it does, we’re not going to have to worry about subscription numbers for a long time.

I know. And if we’re going to do it right, we have one more person to interview.

Yeah. Clyde Weston.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Chanel and Paulina have breakfast in the town square. Paulina opens up her laptop and comments on Valentine’s Day being two weeks away and they have so much to do. Paulina says she made a spreadsheet of everything they need to accomplish for Chanel’s wedding. Paulina asks where Johnny is as she thought he was coming. Chanel informs her that Johnny said he would catch up with them later because he had something to take care of.

At the Horton House, Chad calls upstairs for the kids to get ready as they have to go to school. Johnny arrives and tells Chad that he hopes he’s not interrupting. Chad says he’s just getting the kids ready for school and heads upstairs to check on them.

Brady runs in to Alex in the park and asks how Theresa is. Alex responds that she’s hanging in and adds that she was going to leave town but he convinced her to stay. Brady is glad that Alex got through to her. Alex notes that she is staying with him and remarks that she sure as hell regrets kissing Brady. Brady questions why Alex would bring that up. Alex points out that Brady didn’t really apologize for his part in it. Brady argues that she kissed him, he didn’t kiss her and she made that clear, so he didn’t feel there was a reason to apologize. Alex questions if Brady didn’t want anything to do with that kiss.

Harris and Jada return to the police station, excited about a successful drug bust. Jada sends the other cops to book the dealers that they caught. Jada asks Harris if he has a minute since Rafe told her about him kissing Ava and then she slapped him. Jada questions what he was thinking. Harris says he clearly wasn’t. Jada tells Harris that she likes him, but she’s a little worried that he can’t get Ava out of his head. Jada remarks that Harris has got it bad for a woman who is bad news.

Xander goes to the DiMera Mansion wearing a hoodie. Stefan answers the door and questions what he’s doing there, asking if the hoodie is his new business attire. Xander says he’s looking for EJ and asks where he is. Stefan suggests he probably left for the courthouse and asks if he’s tried calling him. Xander says he needs to meet with EJ in person. Stefan asks what it’s about exactly. Xander responds that it’s about a very mysterious phone call.

Brady asks if Alex is kidding as he thought they were past this. Brady assures that he has no interest in getting back with Theresa, so she’s all his. Alex asks if he’s just supposed to dismiss the fact that he saw them kissing. Brady repeats that the kiss meant nothing and he just wants Theresa to be happy and healthy because they need to be united while Tate is going through the worst thing possible. Brady advises that Alex get over his jealousy because he’s going to be around if Alex is going to be with Theresa and his son, so he better get used to that.

Chad goes back downstairs and tells Johnny that the kids were fighting over a hair brush. Johnny talks about what worked for he and Allie when they were kids. Chad asks if Johnny wanted to talk. Johnny informs Chad that he and Chanel are engaged. Chad congratulates him. Johnny reveals that they are getting married on Valentine’s Day. Chad notes that’s 2 weeks away and very fast. Johnny tells him that Chanel and Paulina are madly planning. Chad says he’ll mark it on the calendar and that the kids will be very excited. Johnny then asks Chad to be his best man but notes his reaction is not what he was expecting. Chad says it’s one thing to attend and keep his mouth shut which Johnny questions. Chad explains that being his best man is like giving his blessing to bringing an innocent woman in to the DiMera family. Johnny asks what he’s talking about since he just married EJ and Nicole a few months ago. Chad points out how that turned out, noting that they lost a child and now EJ is trying to make the whole town pay. Chad adds that with Stefan, Gabi is in prison for murdering Li and just got her leg broken. Johnny gets that is all terrible but he still fails to see the DiMera connection. Chad argues that Johnny doesn’t get that when people marry in to the family, they end up hurt and at worst, dead like Abigail.

Stefan questions Xander about the mysterious phone call and says he has no idea where EJ is. Stefan offers to help if he wants to share and if he can’t, he’ll let EJ know. Xander decides he’d rather not run around town looking for EJ, so Stefan can relay the message. Xander then informs Stefan that he got a call from a blocked number and the person asked him to kill somebody.

Jada asks Harris how he thinks this is going to end. Harris doesn’t have an answer but he hopes that he and Ava can be together, but he doesn’t know if that’s possible. Jada questions if it’s really worth fighting over and risking his career for. Harris calls it complicated. Jada says she hates to see him go through this after getting his life back on track. Jada calls him a kick ass cop and says she’d hate to see him throw it all away on Ava. The other two cops come back so Harris offers breakfast on him to celebrate their victory which they agree to.

Chanel asks if Paulina is sure she’s okay to be out and about, worrying about her wedding plans when she was just in the hospital this morning. Paulina insists that she’s fine and loving every minute of helping her. Paulina adds that Chanel’s wedding dress is on the way but she’s worried about having time for the alterations. Chanel asks if she remembered her anti-anxiety pills which Paulina confirms she did. Paulina can’t wait for Chanel’s wedding, especially after missing her last one. Paulina wishes that Eli and Lani could be at the wedding. Chanel encourages that they will be there in spirit. Paulina shows Chanel her favorite option for her veil and says they can’t have her making her own wedding cake, so she shows one they could order. Paulina then suggests a bridal bouquet made out of pastries as a nod to Chanel being a baker.

Johnny thinks Chad is just missing his wife this morning. Chad admits that he does every minute of every day. Johnny understands but still doesn’t see the DiMera connection, reminding him that Clyde said Belle was his target that night and Abigail was at the wrong place and wrong time. Chad says Abigail was at the wrong place, the DiMera mansion, and if she wasn’t there, she’d still be alive. Chad brings up what happened in Johnny’s first marriage. Johnny argues that it had nothing to do with being a DiMera and if anything, had to do with his connection to Marlena. Johnny adds that he has nothing to do with the DiMera business since he’s an aspiring filmmaker. Johnny appreciates Chad wanting to be helpful but he thinks that Chad is overreacting. Chad asks if Johnny wants to be like him and be putting flowers on his wife’s grave because she was murdered in her own bed. Chad declares that becoming a DiMera is a dangerous thing as they are a spiteful, mean, vindictive group of people. Chad adds that he wasn’t even brought up as a DiMera but still got sucked in to it while Johnny was born in to it. Chad warns that if Johnny really loves Chanel, he’ll keep her as far away as possible.

Alex sarcastically asks if Brady is going to move in with he and Theresa. Brady assures that they will have their space but he’s going to be checking in on Theresa a lot because she’s the mother of his kid and she had a big slip and could easily have another one. Alex asks if he really thinks so because she’s started meetings, she’s focused on working at Bella, and looks on the road to recovery. Brady calls it a process and she’ll never be magically cured but it’s good that she is busy. Alex agrees that it’s been a whole lot of drama. Brady says he’ll catch him later. Alex stops him and says he’s been meaning to ask him something.

Stefan asks Xander who they wanted him to kill. Xander says they didn’t say and the voice was distorted and just that they would be in touch soon. Xander says he would’ve said no as he’s not an assassin for hire. Stefan brings up Xander trying to kill Eric and Nicole which Xander says was a long time ago. Xander brings up refusing to kill Susan for Ava and declares that he’s never killed anyone in cold blood. Stefan suggests it was a wrong number but Xander reveals that they asked for him by name, so they know who he is.

Harris, Jada and the other two cops go to the Brady Pub for breakfast. Roman greets them. Harris says they just pulled an all nighter on another drug bust. Jada says they are in need of a hot meal. Roman declares that nothing would making him happier than serving his brothers and sisters in blue, so it’s on him.

Johnny tells Chad that he and Chanel already lost each other once, so there is no way in hell that he’s going to lose her again ever, so they are getting married with or without Chad’s blessing. Johnny apologizes for coming and wasting Chad’s time. Chad stops him and says when has a tough morning like today, it hits him all over again how much he misses Abigail. Chad adds that the kids don’t talk to him about how much they miss her anymore, so when they act up, he knows it’s because Abigail isn’t there to guide them and they are angry that they don’t have her. Chad admits some days he’s fine and other days, it hits him like a tidal wave that she’s gone for good and it rips his heart out all over again. Johnny sits with Chad and states that Abigail was a special person and they all miss her so much. Johnny says he’s so sorry for what has happened to him, everything he’s been through, and for the kids. Johnny admits he was kind of hoping that Chad would get to a more solid place with Stephanie. Chad says he hoped the same thing but it wasn’t the right time as his heart still belongs to Abigail. Chad adds that he still believes in true love though, so if Johnny has that with Chanel, then he should hold onto it and keep it safe because that’s a very hard thing to do as a DiMera. Johnny asks if Chad really believes their whole family is cursed. Chad advises Johnny to run with Chanel back to Italy, get married, stay there and be happy so he stays as far away from the DiMera family as he can for he and Chanel’s safety.

Stefan doesn’t understand why Xander would think EJ is behind the crazy call he got. Xander tells Stefan to think about it, reminding him that EJ recently hired a hit woman to take out Ava, so he thought he’d come see what EJ had to say about it. Stefan questions Xander thinking EJ is the only person to hire a hit person and suggests he look a little closer to home. Stefan points out that the Kiriakis family has done as many nefarious things as the DiMeras and he doesn’t appreciate him coming after his family.

Brady asks Alex what’s on his mind. Alex asks for advice since he and Theresa have been together a short time but they are living together and it’s still new, so he’s trying to figure out if there’s anything else he needs to know about Theresa. Brady says it’s been a long time since he and Theresa lived together. Alex asks Brady what it was like being married to Theresa. Brady says it was only a couple months but Alex has to understand that he doesn’t even remember marrying her since he was wasted in Las Vegas. Brady then stops and questions if Alex is thinking about marrying Theresa.

Paulina suggests to Chanel that they talk about color schemes, noting that she likes sea foam. Chanel goes along with it but Paulina knows she hates it and the pastry bouquet. Chanel says she just wants Paulina to be happy even if it means pretending to like stuff she hates. Chanel acknowledges that Paulina missed their first wedding but Paulina argues that she’s just humoring her because of her cancer. Paulina doesn’t want her treating her differently because of it and tells her to speak up if she sees something she doesn’t like. Chanel then tells Paulina that she doesn’t want the centerpieces, what’s on her wedding cake, and the veil. Paulina pretends to cough because of that and jokes that she really likes the veil.

Johnny tells Chad that they are not going to run. Johnny declares that he and Chanel are getting married here and family is important to them, so he can’t just ask her to leave Paulina when she’s just diagnosed with cancer. Johnny says he’s not a kid anymore so he can’t just run from every problem as he is committed to Chanel, marrying her on Valentine’s Day, and starting a new life with her here in Salem. Chad acknowledges that he really grew up. Johnny says he didn’t have much choice. Chad then decides he’d be honored to be his best man. Johnny thanks him and says it means a lot to him as they hug. Johnny asks Chad if he knew everything that was going to happen, if he would still have married Abigail. Chad says he would’ve taken her and run for the hills as he would’ve done anything in his power to save her and have her with him now.

Alex tells Brady that he and Theresa are not even close to being married yet. Brady points out they are living together as roommates with benefits. Alex says with everything that has happened, it made things feel more serious and they are in a good place. Alex feels he needs to know more about Theresa before marriage is even on his radar. Brady calls that smart and says he should take it slow if he’s serious about her. Alex admits the whole relapse was a shock to him, so he’s worried that it could happen again or what else could throw him off. Brady tells Alex that Theresa can be wonderful, fun, and loving but she has a wicked side to her. Brady says he’s living proof that it’s hard not to follow Theresa down a destructive path and get sucked in to it. Brady thinks Alex has only started to scratch the surface of who Theresa really is.

Stefan tells Xander to stop and think, noting that he doesn’t have a reputation for being reliable and not completely falling apart in the face of pressure and humiliating himself. Stefan questions why EJ would hire Xander of all people to kill someone. Xander says he has absolutely no idea but he’s worked for the DiMeras before including Kristen and helped EJ through his recovery in Nashville. Xander says maybe EJ sees him as having a competent work ethic. Stefan apologizes for starting the conversation. Xander says he’s going to end it by saying he does believe EJ is behind the phone call or he put somebody else up to it. Xander warns that if so, he’s out of luck because he’s walking the straight and narrow now with his daughter and his newspaper. Xander tells Stefan to tell EJ that he will have to find another hitman because he’s not interested.

Roman tells the cops a story about when he was a cop and guarantees they will never forget their time on the force. Harris toasts to Roman’s decades of work on the force and paving the way for the next generation.

Chanel shows Paulina the wedding cake that she likes. Paulina agrees that it’s beautiful and jokes with her as Johnny approaches. Chanel says they were just going over the wedding cake. Paulina says she has Mayor duties to get to, so Chanel can show Johnny everything they went over. Paulina walks away as Chanel asks Johnny what he wants to see first. Johnny says whatever she wants to show him. Chanel asks if he’s feeling overwhelmed, encouraging that Paulina is helping a ton and she thinks they will be fine. Johnny admits he’s partly overwhelmed but he’s thinking maybe they should postpone the wedding.

Stefan tells Xander to get a grip as EJ is the new district attorney so he seriously doubts he’s behind this. Xander questions if Stefan is involved somehow and covering for him. Stefan assures that he knows nothing about this. Stefan thinks Xander cooked the whole thing up in his head and that he’s losing it. Stefan says he’s needed elsewhere. Xander says he’s leaving but not until they get one thing straight in case this ever comes up again.

Johnny tells Chanel about Chad saying they shouldn’t get married in Salem and that they should run for the hills. Johnny notes that Chad seemed super intense about being connected to the DiMeras being Hell on earth and that they should stay as far away from the family as possible. Chanel asks what Johnny thinks. Johnny thinks Chad is still grieving the loss of his wife as it comes and goes in waves. Johnny feels it’s more about what Chanel thinks since she’s apparently risking her life by marrying him. Chanel declares that she would risk her life a thousand times to be with him. Johnny feels the same as they kiss. Chanel asks if he’s sure he still wants Chad as his best man. Johnny confirms that he does and thinks it will be good for him. Chanel agrees and states that Johnny is not his father, his uncles, or Stefano but his own man, so their issues have nothing to do with them. Johnny thanks her for being the voice of reason as he needed to hear that. Johnny kisses her and says he loves her so much as they hug.

Alex admits that Brady gave him a lot to think about and thanks him for the advice or warning. Brady acknowledges that they are family so he will give it to him straight. Brady knows Alex is his own man and he will make the decisions that are best for him and he hopes it works out for him. Alex thanks him. Brady thanks Alex for keeping him updated on Theresa and tells him to call if he needs any more advice. Alex thinks he’s got it from here and says he’ll see him at the office as he walks away. Brady thinks back to Alex questioning if Brady didn’t want anything to do with kissing Theresa.

Harris offers to pay for breakfast but Roman reminds him that it’s on him and says he enjoyed the conversation. Harris asks about Lucas. Roman tells him that Kate is with him now and took him breakfast. Harris asks about his injuries. Roman says he’s recovering but the beating was pretty bad. Roman asks how long Harris plans on keeping Lucas here. Harris says as long as it takes or until they know that nobody is watching.

Xander tells Stefan that there was a time that he might have been desperate enough to become a murderer for hire but repeats that he’s a changed man with a wonderful daughter who means the world to him, so he’s not going to throw his life away. Xander declares that his time as a criminal is over because Victoria needs the best dad, so he won’t put her in a position to be looking at him behind bars or in a casket. Xander tells Stefan to understand that and make EJ understand it too. Stefan responds that he understands it loud and clear, but whatever is going on here, the DiMeras have nothing to do with it. Xander is not convinced so he tells Stefan to tell EJ to go to Hell. Xander adds that Stefan can go there too, but all the DiMeras are headed to Hell anyway in due time. Xander then storms out of the mansion.
