Days of Our Lives Update

Chanel reopens the bakery and sets up free samples in the town square. A man approaches and introduces himself as Clint Rawlings, saying they have a lot to talk about.

Kayla goes to the Brady Pub where Kate greets her and offers her coffee. Kayla mentions just leaving the hospital after a very eventful morning that Kate might find interesting. Kayla informs Kate that Marlena managed to deprogram Harris Michaels. Kate asks if that means he will be okay. Kayla says that is to be determined.

At the hospital, Marlena tells Harris that they have completely broken through Megan’s brainwashing so he is no longer under her control and there is no longer any reason for him to receive any in-patient care. Harris argues that the only way to make sure he never hurts an innocent person again is to have him committed to Bayview.

Johnny asks who Wendy wants to be in a committed relationship with, him or Tripp. Tripp adds that they will respect her decision either way, but they need an answer.

Shawn questions Rafe suspending him. Rafe argues that he left him no choice by drinking on the job where he could’ve hurt himself or someone else. Rafe asks for his gun and his badge. Shawn accuses Rafe of standing on his high horse, arguing that they both know that Rafe has broken just as many rules as any other detective in the police station. Rafe warns him to be careful. Shawn asks if he means as careful as Rafe was when he started having sex with one of his other detectives.

Jada goes to see Steve and apologizes for not calling ahead. Steve says his oldest friend’s daughter doesn’t need an invitation. Jada tells Steve that she’s so sorry that he lost another longtime friend. Steve can’t believe Abe is gone and is still trying to wrap his head around it. Jada talks about seeing a lot of bad things on the job, but it’s hard to make sense of this. Steve knows she and Rafe did everything they could to bring Abe home safe. Jada says they did, but still can’t help but feel like they let him down.

Shawn wonders how Abe would feel, knowing that instead of being out looking for him, Rafe was busy breaking one of his last rules. Rafe orders Shawn to his office now but Shawn says he was just suspended, so he doesn’t have to go anywhere with him. Rafe warns Shawn not to do this. Shawn asks if he doesn’t want the rest of the department to know he’s been screwing Jada. Rafe argues that he doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about. Shawn brings up Leo’s gossip column. Rafe questions believing everything he reads in Leo’s gossip column. Rafe then remarks that maybe the booze is clouding Shawn’s judgment. Shawn then reveals that he didn’t just read about it in Leo’s column, he got a first-hand account.

Wendy appreciates Johnny and Tripp being so patient with her and giving her time to figure out what she wants. Wendy then asks Tripp to give her and Johnny some privacy. Tripp says he’ll go check in with his dad. Wendy tells Tripp that she will text him as he then exits. Johnny comments that he and Wendy are alone at last.

Chanel acknowledges Clint Rawlings as Abe’s deputy and asks if he’s the mayor now. Clint confirms he is the acting mayor and comments on Chanel being open for business. Chanel offers him a sample. Clint says he’ll think about it. Chanel talks about going through some challenges but with everything her family is going through, she’s grateful to be back in business. Clint remarks that he’s sure she is. Chanel asks if there’s a problem. Clint responds that she’s damn right there is. Clint accuses her of poisoning half the town and declares that if it were up to him, the bakery would be shut down for good.

Marlena tells Harris that she knows how upsetting it must have been to learn that he was still susceptible to Megan’s programming. Harris calls it a nightmare that he never wakes up from as he’s constantly in fear that he will wake up, strapped to a bed, and learning that he hurt somebody else. Marlena relates to knowing the fear of not being in your own control. Marlena offers to continue seeing Harris on a outpatient basis but Harris worries that’s not enough. Harris shouts that he needs to be under lock and key 24/7 until a team of shrinks can guarantee that Megan and Dr. Rolf will never be inside his head again.

Kate reveals to Kayla that it was her who had Harris go after Megan. Kate asks what she was thinking when she knew that Megan already had Harris under her control, but Harris knew the risks. Kate says she should’ve known that Megan wouldn’t go quietly when she found out that Harris was trying to kidnap her and take her to an off grid site. Kayla points out that Harris is a pro and has probably done that a hundred times. Kate feels it still would’ve been better if he just went with her original idea when she told him to just kill the bitch.

Harris tells Marlena that as long as Dr. Rolf and Megan are out there, he is a threat to her and everyone she cares about. Marlena points out that he didn’t seriously hurt anybody this time. Harris brings up before and how he shot two guys in cold blood in Greece, then attacked John and Paul. Harris asks Marlena if she wants someone who is dangerous and unstable like him, to be walking the streets.

Johnny tells Wendy that this is more like it. Johnny says he didn’t mind the competition and jokes that if anyone deserves two men fighting over her, it’s her. Wendy responds that she’s not a prize to be won. Johnny apologizes if it came out like that. Wendy says this wasn’t about Johnny competing with Tripp but about her deciding who and what she needs in a partner. Johnny says he gets that and respects that but he’s so happy that she chose him. Johnny declares that now that Tripp is out of the picture, they can really just focus on committing to each other. Wendy asks if he’s forgetting about someone else in the equation. Johnny asks who she means. Wendy then brings up Chanel.

Chanel guesses Clint is not going to try her sample then. Clint comments that it’s easy to see how so many people have been charmed by her. Clint goes over Chanel’s relationship history with Theo, Xander, her college professor, Johnny, Allie, and then Talia. Chanel says that’s creeping her out and adds that Talia only pretended to like her to help Colin get revenge. Clint points out that then she threw herself and Colin off a roof, all to save Chanel. Chanel questions how he knows all of this about her and what his point is. Clint responds that she’s not just delivering delicious treats to Salem. Clint argues that Chanel and Paulina have brought nothing but crime, chaos, and scandals to their city. Clint declares that it’s time someone did something about that.

Rafe questions Shawn saying he got a first hand account about he and Jada. Shawn says it came from Jada herself. Rafe questions Jada telling him. Shawn says not exactly as he reveals that he was at the bar in the Pub when Jada told Kate. Rafe accuses him of eavesdropping. Shawn responds that detectives gotta detect and declares that he knows all about his sneaky little affair. Shawn says the burning question is what is he going to do with the information.

Steve tells Jada that he and John came up against the same walls in the investigation that they did. Jada kept thinking some piece of evidence would explain why Abe went to the docks that night. Jada talks about turning the city upside down, looking for Abe but she wishes they could’ve done more. Tripp arrives and greets them. Jada decides to get back to the station. Steve says he’ll let her know if they come up with anything new as she then exits. Steve asks Tripp if he had a bad day. Tripp guesses he can read it on his face. Steve notes that when Tripp is unhappy, he has a hard time hiding it. Steve asks what’s going on and what’s got him down. Tripp responds that it’s about Wendy, who he has very strong feelings for. Steve asks if that’s a bad thing. Tripp states that it looks like he’s about to lose her to Johnny DiMera.

Johnny asks Wendy what Chanel has to do with them being together. Wendy says she had to make a decision about he and Tripp, so he has to do the same with her and Chanel. Johnny disagrees, pointing out that he wasn’t seeing Chanel while dating Wendy. Wendy argues that’s only because Chanel didn’t give him the chance. Johnny argues that Wendy is the only woman he wants to be with but Wendy says she’s not so sure about that. Johnny asks where all this is coming from, pointing out that he’s not the one who needed to date two people just to make a decision. Wendy argues that she was being honest and she doesn’t think Johnny is being honest with himself about his feelings for Chanel.

Chanel tells Clint that the poisoned biscuits caused a lot of trouble but she had nothing to do with it. Clint points out that it was one of her employees. Chanel argues that her bakery was sabotaged and she’s the innocent victim. Clint brings up her customers who suffered and if they were innocent. Chanel says she feels terrible about that but Clint is not sure that she does because she hasn’t taken responsibility for that or for the fact that her involvement with Colin’s parents led directly to this mess. Chanel questions why he is attacking her like this. Clint responds that he’s making it clear that the Rawlings Administration is bringing law, order, and decency back to Salem. Clint warns Chanel that if she is involved in another incident, he’ll see to it that she never does business in this town again as he then walks away.

Kayla questions Kate asking Harris to kill Megan. Kate asks her not to tell Roman and argues that Megan is fine so there was no harm, no foul. Kayla doesn’t want to make a habit of lying to Roman and doesn’t think Kate should either. Kayla insists that Roman would understand and reminds her that he, John, and Steve all considered killing Orpheus. Kate talks about how Roman ended up having a change of heart. Kayla still believes that Roman would understand and admits that she certainly does. Kate questions Kayla actually having a killer instinct. Kayla clarifies that she doesn’t condone cold blooded murder but she does wish that Megan was out of their lives for good.

Marlena tells Harris that it’s because of John that she has enormous empathy for him. Harris knows John had been brainwashed by Dr. Rolf and Stefano. Marlena states that the DiMeras have used mind control against people for decades. Marlena calls them the monsters, not Harris. Harris responds that may be, but they managed to turn him in to a weapon not once, but twice. Harris says he’s not willing to risk what could happen if they do it a third time.

Rafe asks if Shawn is threatening him. Shawn questions why he can’t break the rules and get a pass if Rafe can. Rafe argues that he was drinking on the job while Shawn says Rafe is sleeping with his subordinate. Rafe shouts that what he does in his personal life doesn’t affect his job and is no one’s business. Shawn brings up power and balance and workplace ethics. Rafe asks what the hell Shawn wants. Shawn wants fairness but says that’s up to Rafe. Shawn tells Rafe to go ahead and suspend him and treat him like crap. Shawn remarks that he’s not going to tell anyone that Rafe has been sleeping with Jada right as Clint arrives and introduces himself as the new acting mayor. Clint states that for Rafe’s sake, he sincerely hopes that Shawn has his facts wrong. Shawn tries to claim that Clint misheard. Clint asks if he didn’t just accuse Rafe of having an inappropriate workplace relationship with another detective right as Jada then enters the station and asks what’s going on. Clint calls it a coincidence because they were just talking about her.

Kate jokes that she likes the new lethal Kayla. Kayla clarifies that she’s not condoning violence but she wants her family to be safe. Kayla hopes they find Megan and put her away for life this time which Kate agrees with. Kayla says she has to get home for a lunch date with Steve. Kate decides to walk her out because there is someone that she needs to go see.

Marlena tells Harris that even if she had him committed to Bayview, it doesn’t mean he won’t be conditioned again. Marlena points out that several DiMera pawns succumbed to mind control even after regular psychiatric treatments. Harris gets that because he was in intense therapy with doctors overseas but they know how that worked out with him. Harris believes in-patient treatment will help him become stronger and less susceptible to Dr. Rolf’s mind games. Marlena asks what he wants from her since he can commit himself to Bayview. Harris points out that then he could check himself out too, but if Marlena commits him then he has no choice but to stay and that’s what he wants. Harris declares that his mind has been so screwed with over the past few years that he just needs some time to heal. Harris says for him it’s about survival and if he can’t rid himself of the feeling that he might lose control of who he is, then he just doesn’t know if he can go on. Harris asks Marlena if she will commit him or not.

Steve questions Tripp just leaving Wendy with Johnny. Tripp asks what he was supposed to do since she asked him to go. Steve tells Tripp about how he and Bo would fight for the ladies at his age. Tripp says times have changed and he doesn’t think Wendy would appreciate him challenging Johnny to a duel. Steve questions turning tail being the answer. Tripp asks if he was supposed to refuse to leave. Steve asks if he’s afraid of being cancelled. Tripp points out that he could be arrested. Steve laughs off that everyone is so sensitive these days. Tripp argues that he has to respect Wendy’s wishes. Steve acknowledges that his days are long gone. Tripp says they have to trust that women know their own minds and that’s what he’s doing. Tripp declares that if Wendy chooses Johnny then he’s dealing with it, end of story. Steve wonders if Wendy really knows her own mind. Tripp says she does and he has to accept that but Steve thinks it’s too cut and dry.

Johnny assures Wendy that he doesn’t want to be with Chanel, he wants to be with her. Wendy points out that every time she turns around, he’s racing off to be with Chanel. Johnny says that’s just because she is his friend and she’s been through a lot of trauma lately. Wendy understands she’s going through hell and she feels for her. Johnny questions her thinking something shady is going on. Wendy says she likes Chanel and she doesn’t do girl drama. Johnny questions what the problem is then. Wendy responds that it’s that his first instinct is to always protect his ex-wife and she doesn’t see that changing anytime soon. Wendy reveals that is one of the reasons that she’s choosing to be with Tripp.

Steve tells Tripp that he can’t give up on Wendy that easily. Tripp asks if he’s been listening to anything he said. Steve understands that he has to let her make her own choices but he doesn’t have to be toxic or disrespectful to fight for someone. Steve suggests fighting with his head with respect and decency. Tripp asks how he’s supposed to do that. Steve encourages him to just show Wendy what a good and awesome man he is and that he’s in it for the long haul. Tripp feels he’s already tried that. Steve thinks he’s been let down and hurt by a lot of people in his life, so when it comes to love and things get dicey, he cuts his losses and runs to protect himself. Steve gets that as he used to do the same thing at his age. Steve tells Tripp that if he cares about Wendy as much as he says, then he has to let her know that he’s not going anywhere. Steve asks Tripp to at least consider that. Tripp supposes he could, but feels like he’s already humiliated himself by being in this competition with Johnny. Steve doesn’t think it should be humiliating to give something all he’s got. Steve adds that if it doesn’t work out, he can walk away with no regrets, knowing that he fought for her. Tripp agrees to take his advice. Steve assures that he won’t regret it. Tripp thanks him and they hug. Tripp promises that he’s going to Wendy’s now and exits.

Johnny questions Wendy really picking Tripp over him because she thinks he’s not over Chanel. Wendy states that his connection with Chanel is only part of the reason. Johnny asks what the rest is. Wendy responds that she and Tripp have spent a lot of time together lately while Johnny has been with Chanel and her feelings for Tripp started to deepen. Johnny questions if she’s saying it’s his fault then. Wendy says it’s nobody’s fault. Wendy calls Johnny a great guy and says she cares about him a lot. Wendy hopes that Johnny and Chanel give it another shot. Johnny repeats that he doesn’t want to be with Chanel and asks what he has to do to prove it. Wendy kisses Johnny on the cheek and says goodbye to him. Johnny then leaves the apartment.

Chanel remains working at the Bakery when she gets a call from Allie.

Marlena returns to Harris after checking other patients and says she wanted to give time for his sedative to kick in. Harris says he’s a little more relaxed and asks if she’s made a decision about his request. Marlena responds that she has and it’s obvious to her how much he wants it, so she agrees to commit him to Bayview.

Clint informs Jada that Shawn has just brought a very serious accusation to his attention. Shawn argues that he didn’t make an accusation. Clint asks to speak to Jada in private. Jada asks what this is about. Clint says it’s her relationship with Rafe. Rafe argues that it’s really not necessary. Clint then takes Jada in to the interrogation room. Shawn apologizes to Rafe as he didn’t know that Clint was standing behind him. Rafe says it’s a little late for apologies. Shawn offers to make it better by talking to Clint. Rafe says he’s done enough and reminds him that he still needs his gun and his badge, so Shawn turns them over.

Chanel tells Allie that she and Paulina got the flowers she sent. Chanel says she can’t believe Abe is gone either. Chanel mentions hearing that Allie is seeing someone and says that’s great as all she ever wanted was for her to be happy. Chanel tells Allie that there is no one new in her life. Johnny then walks in to the town square and sits down on the bench. Chanel tells Allie that she has a customer and will call her back as they hang up. Chanel then approaches Johnny and comments on the dark cloud he’s carrying around. Johnny asks if it’s that obvious. Chanel asks him what happened. Johnny informs her that he just got dumped.

Tripp returns home and asks Wendy where Johnny is. Wendy informs him that Johnny left. Tripp is surprised as he figured they would be celebrating their new official status as a couple. Wendy responds that they have nothing to celebrate. Tripp asks if he’s not excited about being her boyfriend. Wendy reveals that Johnny is not her boyfriend which Tripp questions. Wendy explains that she asked Tripp to leave so she could tell Johnny that she didn’t want to be with him. Wendy says she needed time alone with Johnny to explain why she chose Tripp. Wendy declares that Tripp is the man she wants to be with as they kiss.

Kayla comes home for lunch with Steve. Kayla praises his cooking as they kiss. Kayla asks about his day. Steve says two of his favorite people stopped by; Jada and Tripp. Kayla asks if they came for good reasons or bad. Steve says that Jada came by to give her condolences about Abe while Tripp came for a little advice on his love life. Kayla questions Tripp coming to him for relationship advice. Steve says not exactly, but he is his father. Steve asks if Kayla had a busy morning. Kayla mentions stopping by the Pub where she had a very interesting conversation with Kate. Kayla informs Steve that it turns out that Kate is the reason that Harris Michaels went after Megan, but it didn’t turn out the way she hoped.

Kate visits Harris in the hospital and says she needs to apologize for her scheme almost getting him killed. Harris says it was his plan and it went awry so she has nothing to apologize for as he’s actually grateful to her. Harris adds that if she hadn’t convinced him to go after Megan, he wouldn’t have found out that she still had the power to control him which let him know that he’s still a danger to himself and the people around him. Harris states that thanks to her, he’s going somewhere to get the help that he needs. Kate asks where, so Harris reveals that he’s going to Bayview.

Shawn goes to the hospital and greets Marlena, who asks if he’s there on assignment. Shawn says no as he’s off duty. Shawn then says that’s a lie and he’s been lying to himself and others a lot lately. Shawn admits to Marlena that he’s been suspended from the force. Marlena asks what happened. Shawn responds that he’s in trouble and he needs her help before he makes his life any worse than he already has.

Rafe paces at the police station until Jada comes out from the interrogation room. Rafe asks if everything is okay. Jada says not really. Clint comes out and announces that Jada just confirmed her and Rafe’s inappropriate relationship and how this is a violation of their policy, so he has no choice but to take immediate action. Clint then announces that he is firing Rafe.

Tripp lifts weights at home until Johnny shows up at the door and asks if Wendy is there. Tripp informs him that she is not as she went to the police station to visit Li.

Wendy visits Li in the interrogation room. Li says he’s so happy to see her but Wendy tells him not to pretend everything is normal, like he didn’t brainwash someone to take out his romantic rival. Li argues that she doesn’t understand. Wendy brings up Li not wanting her to attend Stefan and Gabi’s engagement party and says that’s because he ordered Harris Michaels to crash the party and commit murder.

In the hospital, Marlena brings Harris Michaels out of hypnosis. Harris says he’s frustrated as they’ve been working at this for hours but feels like they’ve gotten nowhere. Marlena encourages that it’s a process to deprogram him. Harris feels hypnotherapy isn’t working as objectively, he knows what’s wrong, but he still has the overwhelming urge to kill Stefan DiMera.

At the hospital, Rafe asks Gabi if Stefan is on his way. Gabi informs him that Stefan doesn’t know that she was attacked by Dr. Rolf and says next time he won’t be so lucky. Rafe argues that there won’t be a next time and suggests Gabi stay with him until they catch Dr. Rolf and Megan. Gabi thanks him but says not to underestimate her as she can handle it. Gabi says she just wants to be home in the arms of Stefan. Stefan then arrives at the hospital and angrily questions what the hell is wrong with her.

Shawn is at the docks as Melinda arrives and asks where the hell Rafe is. Shawn informs her that he’s at the hospital, visiting Gabi. Melinda questions who is in charge down here then. Shawn says that would obviously be him and asks if there is a problem. Melinda questions why the divers are packing their gear up. Shawn informs her that they’ve searched every inch and there’s no sign of Megan or Dr. Rolf, so he’s calling of the search. Melinda responds that he can’t do that. Shawn says he can and just did. Melinda then questions if she smells alcohol on his breath. Shawn questions why he would have alcohol on his breath when he’s on duty. Melinda then finds his empty bottle nearby. Shawn tries to suggest someone poured one out in Abe’s honor. Melinda asks if she won’t find his prints if she takes it to the police station. Shawn claims that she won’t, so Melinda says they will have to wait and see.

Johnny tells Tripp that Wendy was pretty upset with Li yesterday, so he asks how she was today. Tripp says she was still in shock. Johnny wishes there was something he could do for her. Tripp thinks he’s done enough which Johnny questions. Tripp asks Johnny what the hell he was thinking by dragging Wendy to his family’s party and remarks that thanks to him, she could’ve been killed.

Li tells Wendy that he would never put her in danger. Wendy argues that he did by letting her walk in to a situation that could’ve gone very wrong and people could’ve died. Li insists that Megan set him up but Wendy argues that she knows it was him because Harris said so himself and she was horrified when she heard that. Wendy says she was trying to defend him but his actions are indefensible. Li says she has it all wrong. Wendy brings up that when he didn’t fight Gabi on the divorce, she was so proud of him as she thought he was taking the high road to be a better person but obviously that was all an act. Wendy declares that now instead of pride, she feels ashamed that he is her brother.

Harris tells Marlena that he’s been in this situation before thanks to Megan, but last time the ISA used ECT to deprogram him and suggests trying that again. Marlena doesn’t think they need anything that risky and suggests trying something else because his programming wasn’t as ingrained as before. Harris asks why it feels like it has a vice grip on him. Marlena says they will try something else. Harris asks her to just get the electrodes and zap the hell out of him but Marlena says no one is getting zapped on her watch. Harris asks what they will do then. Marlena responds that it’s something new, so he’s going to have to trust her. Marlena explains that they are using hypnosis to go back to the moment when he returned. Marlena wants him to remember the moment he was kidnapped and asks where he is. Harris recalls being in a lab. Marlena asks what he sees. Harris flashes back to being strapped down and trying to get free but he can’t and felt as if he was drugged. Marlena asks if anyone else was in the room. Harris says no but he heard muffled voices from the hall. Harris then remembers Li Shin entering the room and ordering him to eliminate Stefan DiMera.

Stefan argues that Gabi lied to him when she said she would not confront Megan and that she was going straight home. Stefan adds that if she listened, she would be home safe but instead, she got attacked by Dr. Rolf and handcuffed to Megan’s bed. Stefan remarks that he doesn’t even know why he bothers with her. Rafe says he gets that Stefan is upset and agrees that what Gabi did was reckless, but the important thing is that she’s alright. Stefan complains that after jumping Harris, Gabi promised she wouldn’t take these risks anymore. Gabi decides she’s not going to stand here and get scolded so she’s going home. Stefan says that’s good unless that’s another lie. Gabi then storms off and exits the hospital.

Li thinks Wendy is being a little harsh and asks what happened to family loyalty. Wendy argues that he lied to her face when he told her that he was moving on and then he attempted murder. Wendy recalls overhearing part of his phone call when he said something about a big plan being put in to action and he claimed that he was talking to a matchmaker. Wendy realizes that he was talking about planning to kill Stefan. Wendy questions what is wrong with him and when he became so unhinged that he would go to such extremes to get what he wants. Wendy asks why he couldn’t just let Gabi go. Li questions who she is to lecture him about letting someone go when she’s been stringing along two guys for months.

Johnny argues with Tripp that he didn’t drag Wendy to the party as she wanted to go and questions how he was supposed to know that her crazy brother was planning to assassinate his uncle Stefan. Tripp argues that putting someone in a room full of DiMeras is like dropping them in a shark tank. Johnny points out that it was Li Shin, who hired a hitman, to kill his uncle Stefan DiMera, who was the victim. Tripp informs him that Megan DiMera was also apparently involved and is now on the run.

Shawn tells Melinda that they have more pressing matters to tend to like Megan DiMera missing while she’s more concerned about an empty liquor bottle. Melinda assures that she is, so she’s going to take it to the police lab to find out if it’s really his. Shawn stops her and admits that the bottle is his. Melinda complains about a police officer drinking on the job. Shawn argues that he’s a detective and he’s currently doing nothing but waiting for the divers to report back so it’s not a big deal. Melinda argues that it is a big deal as he’s an on duty cop with a gun so he can’t have his judgment impaired. Shawn asks if it looks like his judgment is impaired. Melinda says it does and asks why else he would call off the search for Megan and Dr. Rolf. Shawn insists that nobody wants to find Megan more than he does, but she is gone. Shawn argues that even if he drank a few, he could still spot a submarine. Melinda says maybe it doesn’t make a difference and then remarks that maybe if he had drank a few, he wouldn’t have been so quick on the draw when he shot his own father. Shawn tells her to go to Hell and storms off.

Marlena tells Harris that Li Shin was the one who wanted him to kill Stefan and he put that idea in his mind but Harris did not want to do it. Harris says he just kept saying it over and over and it was getting in his head. Marlena urges him to ignore it and not listen to it. Marlena wants to go over it one more time. Harris then recalls Dr. Rolf entering the lab and telling him that the mission is to eliminate Stefan DiMera at he and Gabi’s engagement party and that Rolf told him that he would believe Li Shin gave him the orders, not him or Megan, and that if anyone asked, he was to blame Li Shin. Harris then realizes it wasn’t Li and that Dr. Rolf and Megan did this and framed Li.

Wendy questions Li comparing her being indecisive to what he has done. Wendy asks if he realizes how insane that is for him to judge her about being conflicted between two guys. Li argues that he was only pointing out that most people are somewhat irrational when it comes to matters of the heart. Wendy argues that he went beyond irrational and says she is not stringing anyone along, but trying to figure out responsibly who is better suited for her. Wendy states that she’s in the rare position of having two great guys wanting to be with her and it’s flattering but also confusing and difficult. Wendy declares that she will make her choice at some point and unlike Li, she won’t be committing any crimes along the way. Li repeats that he was setup and questions why she won’t believe him. Wendy responds that she doesn’t know what to believe about him anymore. Li tells Wendy that he cares deeply about her and thinks the world of her. Li asks her to allow him to offer his brotherly perspective. Wendy tells him to knock himself out. Li declares that he thinks Wendy knows on some level which one of the men she is more drawn to and will give her what she needs, but because of her big heart, she’s reluctant to hurt the one that she will eventually have to reject. Li asks if he’s right. When she doesn’t respond, Li takes that as confirmation. Li advises Wendy not to procrastinate any longer and to take the stress off herself by relieving Johnny and Tripp of their uncertainty and need to compete for her affection. Li tells Wendy to make that choice.

Johnny tells Tripp that he knew Megan locked EJ and Kristen in the basement but he didn’t know she tried to kill Stefan too. Tripp calls it just more proof that his family is dangerous, so if he cares about Wendy, he will keep her away from them. Johnny calls that awfully judgmental. Tripp feels he has good reason since he’s a victim of his crazy family too, reminding him that EJ had him kidnapped. Johnny responds that he remembers that because it was right after Tripp’s crazy mother kidnapped his grandma, Susan, who is now dead because of her. Johnny doesn’t think Tripp gets to criticize his family when his is just as crazy. Tripp responds that his mother has a mental illness. Johnny bets that she’s faking it like she faked everything else. Tripp warns him to watch his mouth. Johnny argues that Tripp started this by taking shots at his family, but he thinks his anger is really about Wendy and that he’s afraid of losing her to him.

Shawn returns to work at the police station as Melinda arrives. Rafe informs Melinda about the continued search for Megan’s submarine and that the ISA are searching international waters, so hopefully they catch a break. Melinda thanks him for the update. Rafe says he’ll be in his office if there’s anything else. Melinda stops him and says there is one more thing. Melinda then declares that Rafe needs to fire Shawn for drinking on the job.

Tripp tells Johnny that he’s getting really frustrated in this ridiculous competition between them and admits part of him would prefer to just back out altogether and to tell Wendy that he’s done humiliating himself to try to prove that he’s more worthy of her devotion than Johnny is, but another part of him knows that doing that would be giving up on her. Johnny admits he feels the same way. Tripp suggests they just stop the juvenile and petty competing. Johnny agrees and suggests they both just do their best to be mature and dignified through all of this and stop trying to prove who will make Wendy the happiest or who is the better person. They agree to just be themselves and let Wendy make up her own mind. Johnny then admits that he just hopes Wendy chooses him. Tripp questions him not being mature and dignified. Johnny says he was just kidding and admits the best thing to do is just give Wendy space and be patient.

Wendy tells Li that she’s trying to be patient with him by allowing him to weigh in on her love life when it’s totally irrelevant to why she is here. Wendy repeats that there is no comparing her indecisiveness to Li committing a felony and brainwashing someone to have someone else killed. Li questions why she keeps accusing him when he hasn’t admitted to either. Li adds that he will happily concede the moral high ground to her. Wendy suggests Li should start figuring out a way to get out of this mess that he’s made for himself and then consider this a wake up call. Wendy declares that it would be a shame to throw his entire life away over a woman who has made it abundantly clear that she doesn’t want him. Wendy then storms out.

Stefan and Gabi go home to the DiMera Mansion and continue to argue. Stefan questions being the bad guy for caring about her and being concerned that she deliberately put herself in harm’s way for no good reason. Gabi argues that she had a good reason because Megan has to pay for trying to kill him. Stefan shouts that Gabi almost got herself killed. Gabi points out that she’s still in one piece. Stefan questions why she’s being so stubborn about this while Gabi questions why he’s being so angry about it. Stefan responds that she scared the hell out of him and brings up how he felt when he heard what happened to her. Gabi insists that she’s fine. Stefan repeats that she almost wasn’t and it could’ve been so much worse. Stefan states that if Megan really wanted him dead, she would’ve had no problem knocking her off too and he never would have forgiven himself. Stefan calls Gabi his entire world and asks why they are fighting. Gabi jokes that they are good at it but says they are good at other things too as they hug.

Harris tells Marlena that it’s all coming back to him. Harris declares that Li Shin didn’t order him to kill Stefan, it was Dr. Rolf. Harris is pretty sure he did not see Li in the lab, but Dr. Rolf wanted him to think so, so that he would blame Li. Marlena asks how he feels now about seeing Stefan DiMera and shows him a photo. Harris responds that he doesn’t feel anything and declares that his feelings of wanting to kill Stefan are gone. Harris tells Marlena that he thinks she did it.

Rafe tells Melinda that there must be some sort of mistake as he’s worked with Shawn for a very long time and there’s no way he would ever drink on the job. Melinda explains that on the docks, she smelled alcohol on Shawn’s breath and at first, he tried to deny being inebriated but when pressed, he admitted it. Rafe turns to Shawn and questions if this is true. Shawn thinks they should discuss it in private. Melinda questions what there is to discuss when he drank on the job and endangered the public. Melinda declares that Shawn should be fired immediately. Rafe tells Melinda that this is his department and suggests she focuses on her own. Melinda says she would prefer that, but she can’t prosecute criminals if he can’t catch them. Melinda remarks that maybe they could if he didn’t have a bunch of drunks and losers on the payroll. Rafe points out that they have a suspect in the interrogation room as they speak. Rafe suggests Melinda focus on her own job and prosecute Li Shin. Rafe then gets a call from Marlena and asks how it’s going with Harris Michaels. Rafe says that’s great news.

Stefan apologizes to Gabi for yelling. Gabi apologizes for lying and making him worry. Gabi guesses she just felt like she needed to take control of the situation. Stefan jokes about that not being out of character. Gabi says ever since Harris showed up at their party, she was thinking about losing Stefan again. Stefan gets it and guesses that he’s the lucky one since he didn’t have to suffer the way she did. Stefan recalls being stupid to leave her side that night to help his mother escape. Gabi relates to making a similar bad decision tonight that could have torn them apart again. Stefan suggests making a pact to work as a team from now on, pointing out that they are getting married in two weeks. Gabi agrees to no more going rogue and working together.

Rafe joins Marlena and Harris at the hospital. Rafe records as he asks Harris if he believes Li is innocent. Harris respond that if Li was involved, he has no way of proving it because he never saw him. Harris adds that what he does know is that Dr. Rolf implanted the idea that Li was behind everything. Rafe tells Harris to let him know if he thinks of anything else. Marlena asks if Harris is able to go now that he’s been successfully deprogrammed. Rafe asks if she’s absolutely sure that he’s no longer a threat to anyone else. Marlena agrees to verify that herself and to testify in court that he was not responsible for what he did. Marlena offers to send in an official report as well. Rafe thanks her. Harris asks if that means he’s stuck here in the mean time. Rafe decides that if Marlena says he’s fine, he’s not going to argue with her. Rafe warns Harris that he will be keeping a close eye on him and if he deems for any reason that he’s a threat to anyone in Salem, he will slap the handcuffs back on him.

Melinda enters the interrogation room. Li says he has nothing to say to her without his lawyer. Melinda tells him all he has to do is listen. Melinda informs Li that Harris is changing his story and walking back his accusation that Li is the one who sent him to murder Stefan DiMera. Li responds that he told her that he was innocent. Melinda is not sure about that but luckily for him, the only other people who could confirm or deny this have fled Salem in a submarine. Li asks if this means he’s free to go.

Johnny tells Tripp that he will hang around a bit and wait for Wendy to come home. Tripp asks what happened to giving her space. Johnny points out that Tripp is not doing that. Tripp says he happens to live here which Johnny calls an unfair advantage and asks what happened to being mature about all this. Tripp argues that being mature doesn’t mean accepting Johnny barging in whenever he wants to. Tripp tells Johnny that this is his apartment that he shares with Wendy, so if he wants to hang out with her, he can do it on neutral territory. Johnny agrees to leave then. Johnny remarks that he will just call Wendy and invite her over to his mansion, where their chef is cooking a delicious dinner. Tripp asks if he’s really going to go on about how wealthy his family is and if he thinks Wendy gives a damn. Tripp argues that Wendy is not a shallow jerk like he is, as she cares about things that matter like character and intelligence. Johnny asks if Tripp is saying he’s smarter than him and has more character. Tripp tells Johnny to just go. Tripp thought they could get past this petty crap but clearly he was wrong. Tripp tells him to just leave but Johnny decides he will stay. Tripp disagrees and tries to force Johnny out but Wendy comes home and questions what is going on. Johnny says he just came by to see how she’s doing. Tripp then says she’s clearly fine so they’ll be seeing him. Tripp then mentions that he and Johnny decided to be mature about this and not petty, obnoxious, or juvenile but Johnny is clearly incapable. Wendy responds that she doesn’t blame either of them for hating her stringing them both along. Wendy declares that it’s time to put an end to it.

Harris thanks Marlena and says he is in her debt. Marlena is glad she could help. Harris hates to ask for another favor after everything she’s done for him. Harris then announces that he wants her to have him committed to Bayview.

Gabi finishes a call with Rafe and informs Stefan that Harris took back his accusation that Li ordered him to kill and remembered that it was Dr. Rolf and Megan. Stefan realizes that EJ and Kristen were remembering accurately that they had set Li up. Gabi says maybe but she can’t shake the feeling that Li is involved somehow. Stefan recalls Wendy saying that Li freaked out when he found out she was going to the party, so he definitely knew something. Gabi worries that if Li goes free, he will come after him again and they can’t let that happen. Stefan agrees that they are a team now and Li is no match for them as they kiss.

Melinda returns to the interrogation room and informs Li that Rafe confirmed that Harris can’t place Li at the lab where he was held and he clearly remembers Dr. Rolf putting the blame on Li. Li says that means she has nothing on him, so she has to let him go. Melinda says that is for now, but warns him not to get too comfortable because she will have her eye on him because she doesn’t like when people get away with crimes. Li brings up that Melinda declined to press charges against Talia Hunter when she poisoned half the town, including her. Melinda argues that Talia was in an emotionally abusive relationship and her decisions are of no concern to Li. Li remarks that some may say he was an emotionally abusive relationship with Gabi. Melinda calls him an arrogant son of a bitch. Li asks if he’s free to go now after someone uncuffs him. Melinda remarks that this is the second time he is slipping through her fingers. Melinda promises that the next time, he won’t be so lucky.

Rafe returns to the police station. Shawn thanks him for having his back with Melinda. Rafe responds that he doesn’t take his orders from Melinda, but he can’t ignore the fact that Shawn has been drinking on the job. Shawn promises it will never happen again and it was just a one time thing. Rafe points out that it wasn’t as Melinda is not the only who has noticed him being off his game. Rafe goes over that Shawn’s been late to work and been sloppy. Rafe says he’s been cutting him some slack because of what happened with Bo, but he can’t look the other way anymore. Shawn asks what he’s saying. Rafe thinks Shawn needs to take some time to get his act together and suspends him from the force until further notice.

Tripp and Johnny sit down as Wendy explains that she likes them both a lot, but dating them both at the same time isn’t fair to anybody, so it’s time for her to finally make a choice. Tripp asks if she means right now. Wendy thinks that is for the best. Johnny asks who is it going to be, him or Tripp?

Chad and Stephanie look at a potential place to live. They agree it’s the best one yet and point out the positives. Stephanie notes that they’d be able to fit a king sized bed in their bedroom. Chad likes the sound of that and agrees that they should take it as they kiss.

At the Kiriakis Mansion, Maggie finishes a call as Alex walks in with his bags packed. Maggie asks if he’s going on a trip, but Alex reveals that he’s moving out.

Chloe joins Xander at the Spectator office as Xander is distracted and says he’s not in a jolly mood. Xander informs her that revenues are down 30%. Chloe reveals that she sold a traveling agency on a huge by in for ads and shows him the numbers which thrills Xander. Xander tells Chloe that she’s fantastic at her job as they kiss. Chloe asks if he didn’t have enough of her this morning before work. They continue kissing until Chloe says they can’t do that here. Xander asks why not, pointing out that they’ve done it in their bedrooms and every place of their apartment. Xander suggests they shake things up a bit by doing it in the office.

In the town square, Gwen informs Kristen that she accepted Dimitri’s proposal so she and Kristen will be going from friends to family. Kristen sarcastically congratulates her. Gwen guesses that Kristen is just surprised at how fast this is moving. Kristen thinks back to Dimitri’s plan and tells her that she’s actually not surprised at all.

Dimitri returns home to find Leo in his room. Dimitri asks what the hell he’s doing in his room. Leo responds that he’s about to expose him for the vicious swindler he is. Leo declares that he’s only marrying Gwen to get his hands on the inheritance money. Leo states that he’s going to tell Gwen everything and there’s nothing he can do to stop him. Dimitri responds that he thinks there is as he grabs Leo and kisses him.

Chad suggests to Stephanie tha they take it to their new bedroom. Stephanie points out that they should sign the lease first and decides to text the realtor. Brady arrives and says he came to check the apartment out as he’s looking for a place for he and Rachel. Chad and Stephanie inform him that they are sorry but he’s too late as they just decided to take it.

Chloe tells Xander that this isn’t appropriate as they are at work. Xander jokes that he’s her boss so she has to do what he says. Chloe then says she is definitely saying yes as they continue kissing.

Gwen questions Kristen not being surprised at how quickly she and Dimitri got engaged. Kristen says she knows how much she wanted to move on from Xander. Gwen insists this has nothing to do with Xander and says that Dimitri swept her off her feet. Kristen acknowledges that Dimitri can be persuasive and charming. Kristen hopes Megan’s situation doesn’t put a damper on their wedding. Kristen wishes Gwen and Dimitri all the best and then walks away.

Leo slaps Dimitri and says he was right about him as he knows what he’s up to. Leo questions Dimitri thinking he could use his body in exchange for his silence and if he got him in bed that he won’t tell Gwen what he’s up to. Dimitri asks if he’s right.

Xander and Chloe begin kissing on the desk at the office until Gwen walks in and questions what the hell is going on. Xander claims that they were just going over Chloe’s new ad buy. Gwen remarks that he was just going over Chloe. Chloe decides she will go get coffee. Gwen tells Chloe to get the hell out. Chloe then hurries out. Gwen turns around as Xander puts his clothes back on and apologizes that she had to see that. Gwen assures that she’s not jealous and doesn’t care who Xander is having sex with because she’s quite busy herself, giving an amazing man the most amazing sex that a woman could give him.

Leo tells Dimitri that he’s not that easy and now he knows that Dimitri is just marrying Gwen to cash in on his inheritance, she needs to know the truth. Dimitri removes his shirt and argues that what Gwen doesn’t know can’t hurt her. Leo says he’s not interested. Dimitri touches Leo, so he admits maybe he would be interested if he didn’t just propose to his best friend and calls him a douchy straight guy trying to take advantage of his sexual appetite. Dimitri then tells Leo that he is not straight.

Brady says he’s having a hard time finding a place as he just lost another to Xander and Chloe as he’s always showing up late. Stephanie offers to refer him to their real estate agent which Brady says he would appreciate. Brady tells them to enjoy their new place and tells Chad to enjoy his new job. Chad responds that he doesn’t have a new job and questions how Brady heard about that. Brady informs him that Alex told him and he wasn’t too happy about it.

Maggie questions why Alex is moving out. Alex responds that he’s just not that comfortable here anymore and he hasn’t been sleeping well. Maggie suggests he could switch rooms or mattresses. Alex clarifies that’s not what is making him uncomfortable, it’s Maggie.

Kristen gets a call from EJ, informing her that Megan has escaped. Kristen panics and remarks that she wouldn’t be surprised if Megan takes them all out one by one. Kristen thanks EJ for the heads up and warns him to watch his back. Kristen then hangs up. The door to the tunnels suddenly opens. Kristen grabs a fireplace poker but is shocked when her daughter Rachel emerges from the tunnels and hugs her.

Stephanie tells Chad that they will need a lot of furniture. Chad says it will be a lot of shopping. Stephanie gets a text that their realtor will be there in an hour with the keys. Chad says that gives him enough time to go give Maggie his decision. Stephanie kisses him and wishes him luck. Chad says he’ll be back soon and exits.

Alex tells Maggie that he just doesn’t want to live in the same house with the woman who fired him. Maggie argues that Alex is the one who signed with Titan’s biggest competitor and stole a huge client away from her. Alex argues that is not what happened. Alex apologizes and says he gets it’s how she sees the deal. Maggie insists it’s what he did. Alex says they will have to agree to disagree but they can both agree that this living situation is not healthy for either of them. Maggie asks if he at least said goodbye to Victor. Alex says no as he was taking a nap and he didn’t want to wake him. Alex says he’ll see her around. Maggie stops him and says whatever happened between them doesn’t change the fact that they will always be family. Maggie asks where Alex is going to live. Alex responds that he’ll let her know when he finds a place as he then exits.

Brady walks through the town square and runs in to Chloe. Chloe asks how he is. Brady says he’s okay but a little frustrated as he’s been trying to find a place to live for he and Rachel but he just lost another one to Chad and Stephanie. Brady adds that he was hoping to find a place before Rachel came back from camp. Brady then gets a call from the camp, who informs him that Rachel has gone missing from camp. Brady questions where the hell she could’ve gone.

Kristen tells Rachel that she has missed her so much and she’s so happy to see her. Kristen then questions what she’s doing here when she’s supposed to be at camp. Rachel questions why Kristen cares since she never came to see her before she left and didn’t say goodbye. Kristen explains that her aunt Megan had her locked up in the basement. Kristen assures that nothing else could have stopped her from seeing her off. Kristen hugs her and says she’s so happy that she came to see her, but she’s going to have to take her back to camp. Rachel says no way.

Leo questions Dimitri seriously telling him that he’s queer. Leo asks if Dimitri thinks he’s stupid and wants him to believe he’s gay. Dimitri says that he is. Leo brings up Dimitri sleeping with Gwen and proposing to her. Dimitri confirms that it was to get the inheritance money. Dimitri adds that Leo was right all along that he had an ulterior motive and now he knows what it is.

Xander tells Gwen that he heard Dimitri bragging about proposing to her. Xander remarks that Dimitri is so full of himself and questions how he could possibly have room left in his heart for her. Xander asks why Gwen would even consider marrying such a narcissistic, pompous jerk. Gwen argues that he’s actually a generous and loyal person who happens to be in love with her. Gwen then reveals that she said yes to marrying Dimitri and she can’t wait to be his wife.

Leo brings up Dimitri’s fling with Billie Reed. Dimitri says he was playing her too. Leo thinks he’s playing him but Dimitri says it’s not like that. Leo insists that he’s not gullible, stupid, naïve, or a pushover. Dimitri implores him not to reveal his intentions or his sexual orientation to anyone and says he’s willing to give himself to Leo as a means to that end. Dimitri adds that it wouldn’t be a sacrifice as he’s very much looking forward to giving himself to Leo. Leo asks if he’s saying he’s attracted to him which Dimitri confirms that he is.

Xander asks Gwen if she’s sure this is a good idea when she just met Dimitri and knows the horrific things he’s done. Gwen acknowledges that he hasn’t led an exemplary life but he says that she brings out the best in him. Gwen adds that he knows how she likes bad boys and she’s no angel herself. Xander can’t help but wonder if maybe this has less to do with her being in love with Dimitri and more to do with him getting with Chloe. Gwen complains of Xander’s massive ego and insists it’s not about that. Gwen says that Xander has moved on from her, so she would very much like to move on from him. Gwen calls this a very positive step in that direction and asks why Xander can’t just be happy for her. Gwen goes over her history, pointing out that Jake cheated on her, Chad was in love with Abigail, and Xander never really got over Sarah. Gwen states that now for the first time in her life, there is a man who wants to be with her and only her…

Dimitri tells Leo that he’s wanted to be with him since he first saw him in Arizona. Leo argues that Dimitri was in to Billie and wanted to kill him. Dimitri disagrees and says he was just attempting to hide his desire for him. Dimitri claims he’s always found Leo attractive and so interesting. Dimitri lists off what he likes about Leo and says he thinks he’s so hot. Dimitri understands Leo doesn’t want to betray his best friend, but asks if it’s any better to betray his own desires. Dimitri says the heat between them is undeniable and they can’t fight the pull much longer. Leo agrees and kisses Dimitri. Leo then stops and agrees to give himself to Dimitri if he promises to be gentle, because he won’t be. Leo then shoves Dimitri onto the bed and gets on top of him.

Brady finishes his call with the camp and tells Chloe about Rachel going missing from camp and he bets that she is with Kristen now.

Rachel complains to Kristen that camp was stupid and she wants to stay here with her. Kristen wishes she could but says there’s a lot going on with their family and it’s very complicated. Kristen reminds Rachel that Brady has full custody and he makes the decisions, so she needs to call him. Rachel thought they were fighting that. Kristen responds that she is but it’s very hard as she needs a lawyer and nobody wants to take her case. Rachel argues that there has to be some way they can be together as Kristen hugs her.

Chad goes to the Kiriakis Mansion and informs Maggie that he came to give her his decision. Maggie hopes he’s decided to come to work for her at Titan as she thinks they could do great things together. Chad agrees.

Alex shows up at the apartment that Stephanie is getting with Chad and reveals that he was hoping to move in.

Dimitri and Leo lay in bed after having sex. Leo jokes that Dimitri has a magic penis as they kiss until Leo stops and says this can’t go on like this when Gwen is his best friend. Dimitri asks if he’s saying they can’t see each other again. Leo says no to that but he has to cancel his proposal to Gwen. Leo adds that Gwen will be hurt but she would be more hurt being the wife of a gay man and he can help her through that. Dimitri asks how he’s going to help her when he’s involved with the man who had just turned his back on her. Leo says they can leave that part out. Dimitri reveals that Gwen already said yes to his proposal. Dimitri adds that he genuinely likes Gwen but it’s Leo that he wants. Leo questions him suggesting that he marries Gwen and keeps him as a side piece. Leo declares there is no way that is happening. Dimitri complains that he will lose a staggering amount of money if he’s not married by the time he turns 40 which is the end of the month. Leo says he’d hate to see him lose that money but this situation begs a question. Leo points out that the contract states that Dimitri has to be married by the time he’s 40, but it does not say he has to marry a female. Dimitri then asks if Leo is asking him to marry him.

Xander asks Gwen how she can be sure that Dimitri is being straight with her when she knows he’s a con man but Gwen says she doesn’t want to hear it and that’s none of his business. Xander says he just wants her to be happy, especially after how he hurt her. Gwen acknowledges that they hurt each other. Gwen knows she’s taking a chance but says she’s not naïve or stupid. Xander knows she can handle herself so he agrees to shut up now. Xander advises her to just be careful with Dimitri. Gwen appreciates his concern but says she doesn’t appreciate him fornicating all over the office so she suggests sanitizing it as she then exits.

Maggie tells Chad that they will work out all the details of his contract and she’s sure he will be pleased with the terms. Maggie excitedly hugs him and says she’s so happy about this. Chad informs her that he has a new job while he and Stephanie found an apartment together. Chad adds that it’s none of his business, but he was wondering if it would be uncomfortable for her and Victor with Alex living there while working for DiMera. Maggie reveals that he won’t have to worry about that because Alex just moved out.

Alex informs Stephanie that he decided it was uncomfortable and that he wanted his own place. Stephanie says it makes sense but apparently Salem has a hot rental market, noting that Brady was just there looking too but she and Chad had already decided to take it. Alex congratulates her then. Stephanie thanks him and informs him that Chad has decided to take Alex’s old job at Titan. Alex says good for him. Stephanie mentions that Chad is excited about it, but she hopes it doesn’t set them back since they have gotten to a really good place after everything they have been through. Stephanie doesn’t want things to change that as she really would like for them to be friends. Alex responds that he’d really like that too and decides he’s going to find himself a place to live. Alex says he’ll see her soon and exits.

Brady goes to the DiMera Mansion and asks Kristen where their daughter is.

Chad returns to Stephanie at the apartment and informs her that Maggie was thrilled that he accepted her offer. Stephanie says she is too as they kiss. Chad asks if the realtor came. Stephanie says not yet and then there’s a knock at the door but it’s Alex, who delivers their lease and keys to them and explains that the realtor asked him to drop them off on his way home. Chad argues that he doesn’t live anywhere near there. Alex then reveals that he just got a place directly across the hall from them.

Chloe returns to Xander at the Spectator office and asks how it went with Gwen. Xander says better than expected as Gwen was in an unusually good mood. Xander asks if Chloe is okay. Chloe explains that she ran in to Brady, who found out that Rachel went missing from camp. Xander says that’s terrible but Chloe notes that Brady has a pretty good idea of where she went.

Kristen pretends not to know what Brady is talking about when it comes to Rachel missing from camp. Brady tells her not to do these mind games and to just tell the truth for once. Brady asks if Kristen is hiding Rachel or not. Kristen swears that if Rachel was there, she would tell him. Rachel hides outside the door and then sneaks upstairs.

Gwen walks through the town square and calls Leo but it goes to voicemail. Gwen leaves a message that she was hoping he would pick up because she wanted to share the news with him in person, but she just couldn’t wait to share the wonderful news with her most trusted and loyal friend. Gwen then announces that she said yes to Dimitri and for the first time in her life, she might actually have a chance of real happiness…

Leo asks Dimitri what if he was asking him to marry him. Dimitri brings up his old world family and values. Dimitri wishes they were able to accept that but states that the contract does specify he must be married to a woman. Leo points out that Gwen does really like him and maybe even loves him. Dimitri promises to take care of Gwen in his own way, but Leo has to promise no one can know about this since it would only hurt Gwen. Leo talks about how many men he’s thrown himself at and they always turn out to be either too straight or too nice. Dimitri jokes that he’s neither. Leo asks him to promise this isn’t some sort of a trick. Dimitri swears that it’s not and then asks Leo to swear that no one will know about this. Dimitri says he hopes this happens again and again. Leo swears that it will be their little secret as they lay in bed together, while Rachel overhears from the hallway.

Roman visits Abe’s memorial shrine on the docks. Roman calls Abe the best friend a man could ever have. Roman talks about Abe being a part of his life for such a long time. Roman wonders if Abe ever knew how he treasured their friendship. Roman holds back tears as he talks about how they searched for him. Roman cries that he doesn’t understand why they could never find Abe. Roman states that Abe was such a special man. Roman says he and Kate will both miss Abe so much as he breaks down crying.

EJ and Kate storm in to Megan’s hospital room to confront her but find Gabi is now handcuffed to the bed instead. EJ and Kate question what Gabi is doing there.

Gwen says yes to Dimitri’s marriage proposal.

Kristen comes home to the DiMera Mansion and questions why Leo is robbing her home. Leo talks about all the wine in the cellar. Kristen threatens to call the police.

Belle meets Shawn at the Brady Pub for lunch. Belle stops and points out that Shawn is on duty, so she questions him drinking.

Nicole brings flowers to Abe’s memorial shrine on the docks. Eric then arrives behind her.

Leo tells Kristen that there is no crime here. Kristen questions what he was doing forcing his way in to a drawer. Kristen brings up how Leo broke in to steal Abigail’s precious gems last year on the night that she was murdered. Leo argues that he had nothing to do with that and has paid the consequences from that. Leo states that he’s just in pursuit of the truth now.

Dimitri questions if Gwen means that she will really marry him. Gwen assures him. Dimitri says he’s delighted but surprised. Gwen knows she was hesitant at first but she changed her mind when Megan was shot. Dimitri questions her saying yes because of his mother. Gwen sits him down and explains that it was partly because of what Megan said when they visited her in the hospital and she talked about seizing opportunities with courage and not letting life pass by. Gwen says she saw how much Dimitri loves Megan and how scared he was to lose her. Gwen supposes she saw another side to him that is tender and vulnerable. Gwen says she realized he’s more than just a criminal mastermind who imprisoned Kate on a fishing boat or tried to blow up the world over the Alamainian Peacock. Gwen declares that Dimitri is a beautiful human.

EJ asks where the hell Megan is. Gabi explains that she came to see if Megan was behind the attempt on Stefan’s life because Li kept insisting that she was the mastermind, so she planned to confront Megan face to face.

Eric and Nicole say hi to one another. Eric says he just came to pay his respects to Abe as well. Eric calls it senseless and unfair that Abe is gone so soon. Eric asks how Nicole is and hopes all is well with the baby. Nicole confirms that she followed up with the doctor and she said everything seems fine. Eric says that’s great and he’s sure EJ thinks so too. Nicole reveals that EJ actually wasn’t there.

EJ tells Gabi that she was right as Marlena just hypnotized he and Kristen which led to a memory coming back of Megan admitting she planned to have Stefan killed. Gabi calls Megan a psychopath. EJ says he came to choke the truth out of Megan. Gabi says she came to do the same. EJ remarks that it appears Megan turned the tables on Gabi, but questions how the hell she managed that while recovering from a gunshot wound.

Shawn tells Belle that he’s thirsty and it’s just a beer. Belle repeats that he’s working. Shawn argues that he’s on his lunch break and he’s not drunk. Shawn asks if she thinks he has a drinking problem. Belle says she’s tried to give him space because she knows he’s in pain and suffering terribly about what happened with his dad. She gets he has a lot of guilt and regret and he’s trying to numb it with alcohol. Belle declares that she’s not going to enable this anymore and it has to stop.

Kristen questions Leo wanting to get the goods on Dimitri and asks if he has a crush on him. Leo says it’s suspicion and a desire to make sure Gwen does not get hurt. Kristen calls breaking and entering a hell of a way to get uninvited to their wedding. Kristen questions Leo thinking Dimitri isn’t sincere in his marriage proposal. Leo brings up how briefly Dimitri and Gwen have known each other. Leo reminds Kristen that she said this sounded vaguely familiar when he found her in the wine cellar. Leo asks if she has no memory of what Dimitri is up to. Kristen then thinks back to Dimitri telling her about using Gwen to get what he wants.

Dimitri tells Gwen that she has made him so happy. Dimitri says when he’s with her, he feels like the man he was meant to be. Dimitri promises that she will not regret this. Gwen hopes not and wants to publish their engagement announcement in the Spectator. Dimitri decides to make it official by getting down on one knee and putting the ring on her finger. Dimitri calls it a beautiful ring for his beautiful bride to be as they kiss.

Eric questions Nicole about EJ not going to her appointment with him. Nicole explains that EJ and Kristen went to see Marlena to see if she could help them remember why Megan held them in the secret room. Eric thinks EJ could’ve waited until after Nicole’s appointment considering the scare she had the other day. Nicole assures that EJ wanted to go, but she told him that it was more important that he recovers his memory to make Megan pay for what she’s done so that this never happens again. Eric apologizes as it’s none of his business and he was just concerned after the scare she had. Nicole thanks him but assures that EJ is also concerned about his unborn child and he loves her. Nicole adds that she loves EJ too.

Gabi explains that she showed up and Megan was lying in the bed, she had her right where she wanted and she was about to tell her the truth when Dr. Rolf grabbed her from behind. Gabi says they struggled but he got the better of her. Kate question what prompted Dr. Rolf to come back. Gabi reveals that he was apparently keeping tabs on EJ and Kristen and when he found out what happened, he showed up to whisk Megan away to safety. EJ asks if she has any idea where they went. Gabi says she doesn’t but that Dr. Rolf mentioned something about a submarine. EJ then rushes out of the room.

Eric tells Nicole that he shouldn’t question EJ’s devotion to her or the baby and says it’s just a knee jerk reaction after all those weeks that he left her alone. Nicole understands and apologizes for jumping down his throat. Eric says he can’t imagine the pain she’s going through now after everything with the baby and now Abe. Eric calls it so heartbreaking and he knows it has to be painful for her too. Nicole holds back tears and thanks him. Nicole cries that she still can’t believe Abe is gone and calls it so unfair as he was such a good man. Nicole adds that this only happened because Abe was looking out for Paulina and Chanel like he looked out for everyone he loved. Nicole calls Abe like a father to her and cries that she’s going to miss him. Eric hugs Nicole as she cries. EJ then shows up at the docks and sees them.

Gabi comments to Kate on EJ shooting out of the room like a rocket. Gabi hopes EJ finds Megan but figures she’s at the bottom of the sea by now. Gabi asks Kate to help her out of the handcuffs. Kate jokes that she doesn’t have a hacksaw. Gabi suggests Kate call the cops then because someone in the department will be interested in freeing the Commissioner’s sister. Gabi adds that after she’s done, Kate can tell her why she’s even here. Gabi questions if Kate has a dog in this fight.

Shawn mocks Belle’s concern and says he’s lost his appetite as he storms out of the Pub. Roman comes over and asks Belle what that was all about.

Leo thinks Kristen is remembering something. Kristen thinks back to Dimitri telling her about his plan. Kristen then admits that Leo may be on to something about Dimitri having an underlying agenda. Leo pleads with Kristen to spill the tea. Leo adds that it’s not about him but about Gwen and she deserves to know. Leo reminds Kristen that she and Gwen were cellmates in prison, so they must have had a special bond. Kristen points out that they were only cellmates for 24 hours. Leo argues that Kristen owes it to Gwen to tell him if she knows that Dimitri is going to break her heart.

Dimitri and Gwen kiss until Dimitri says he has to go tell Megan the wonderful news. Gwen doesn’t want him to go and thought maybe they could celebrate as they continue kissing onto the bed.

Belle tells Roman about Shawn’s drinking and struggling with what happened to Bo. Roman hoped Shawn would ease up on himself by now. Belle says that he’s not and she keeps telling him that there’s nothing he could’ve done. Roman says he said the same but Shawn doesn’t want to hear it. Belle hopes that he will stop blaming himself.

Kate tells Gabi that the cops are on their way. Gabi points out that Kate didn’t answer her question. Kate claims to have forgotten it and that she has to go. Gabi stops her and says she knows her well and that she’s hiding something which she’s guessing has to do with Megan. Gabi adds that if so, it’s very important that she knows. Gabi then asks how Kate is involved with Megan.

Nicole sees EJ and explains that she was just leaving flowers for Abe when she bumped in to Eric. EJ calls it a very moving tribute as Abe was very loved by many. Nicole asks what EJ is doing there and if he saw Marlena. EJ confirms that Marlena’s hypnosis was very effective and brought back the memories from the secret room. EJ adds that afterwards, he went to confront Megan only to find that she had escaped from the hospital. Nicole asks how. EJ says it appears that Dr. Rolf provided a helping hand. Eric asks if he has any idea where they could’ve gone. EJ responds that he thought it was here but apparently others had the same idea as when he got to Megan’s room, Gabi was in handcuffs thanks to Dr. Rolf but she mentioned that Dr. Rolf said something about a submarine which is why he came to the docks. EJ states that if Megan was there, it appears she is long gone.

Kate reminds Gabi that Megan tried to have her killed. Gabi asks if she came by to finish her off. Shawn enters the room and questions which one of them let Megan escape.

Kristen tells Leo that she and Gwen did bond in prison. Leo asks if Kristen will help her then. Kristen responds that she already has by getting Gwen pardoned along with her. Kristen remarks that if anything, Gwen is in debt to her. Leo reminds Kristen that she should be in debt to him for freeing her and EJ from the secret room. Kristen blows it off that she’ll just send him an edible arrangement. Leo complains about her treatment. Kristen responds that the DiMeras protect what is theirs and warns him to go before she does call the police. Leo agrees to go but warns that this is not the last she’s seen of him. Leo then goes to the front door, opens it and shuts it to make Kristen think that he left. Leo then sneaks upstairs behind her back.

Gwen and Dimitri lay in bed after having sex. Gwen thinks Megan will be quite pleased to know what kept her waiting but suggests leaving out the specifics of why they were delayed. Dimitri agrees to just keep it that they got held up celebrating. Dimitri tells Gwen that she is more enchanting every time he lays eyes on her. Dimitri says he can’t wait to make her his wife. Dimitri then asks why wait and suggests they could go to the courthouse now and be legally married by the afternoon. Gwen questions if he’s serious. Dimitri calls it striking while the iron is hot. Gwen admits she was hoping for something a bit more romantic. Dimitri asks what could be more romantic than them proclaiming their undying love for each other, just them. Gwen would rather do it on a tropical island. Gwen then admits she doesn’t know what she wants which is why she hoped for time to figure it out before they say “I do.” Gwen questions what the hurry is.

Shawn questions Gabi about Megan escaping in a submarine. Gabi admits that she doesn’t know but that Dr. Rolf mentioned having one. Shawn hopes he can still catch up with them and rushes out of the room. Kate remarks that if Shawn thinks he’s going to catch up to them, he’s an idiot.

EJ tells Nicole that the police are on their way but he doesn’t think it will do much good as Megan is gone by now. Nicole encourages that justice will catch up to her eventually. EJ asks Nicole how it went with the doctor. Nicole responds that she said the same thing that Tripp said, that the baby is perfectly healthy. EJ calls that brilliant news and mentions making arrangements to fly the specialist back in. Nicole repeats that the baby is fine. EJ says he has every faith in her physician but he wanted to bring the specialist back in to the fold because he hated missing the first appointment with her, especially since she gave her such excellent news. EJ declares that in the coming months, he wants to learn everything he can about what they need to do in preparation for bringing their baby in to this world and he wants to do that as a couple, together. EJ and Nicole kiss as Eric stands by, looking annoyed.

Dimitri tells Gwen that there is no rush but he’s been waiting for someone like her for his entire life, so he’s a little impatient. Gwen knows the feeling but points out that she’s never been married before, so she really wants to make it something special. Dimitri promises that it will be. Dimitri asks how the end of the month sounds. Dimitri points out that it would be just in time for his 40th birthday. Dimitri mentions that he promised himself that he would be married by the time he turned 40 and he hates breaking promises. Gwen asks why 40. Dimitri claims it just feels like a significant milestone and a time to become the man he’s meant to be, who is mature and settled and the man that Gwen deserves. Gwen agrees that they will celebrate his 40th birthday the night after their fabulous wedding as they kiss.

Leo sneaks in to Dimitri’s bedroom at the DiMera Mansion and begins to search the room. Leo then finds the packet of papers detailing the stipulations of Dimitri’s inheritance.

EJ and Nicole return home to the DiMera Mansion. EJ prays that the Salem police department step up to the plate this time and finds the submarine. Nicole is sure they are highly motivated after all the havoc that Megan has inflicted on everyone. Nicole brings up EJ showing up to the docks and seeing her hugging Eric. EJ says she doesn’t have to explain as she was visiting Abe’s memorial so it makes sense that she would seek comfort in a friend. Nicole assures that’s all it was and is grateful that EJ understands. EJ declares that they love each other and they are having a baby together so that’s all that matters. EJ promises that his priority from now on is her and him and their precious baby as they kiss.

Kate joins Roman and Belle at the Brady Pub. Kate calls it a rough morning and mentions being at the hospital as she went to go check on Harris Michaels to make sure he doesn’t cause more trouble. Kate notes that Megan escaped while she was there and that Shawn showed up as she was leaving so hopefully they find her.

Shawn goes to the docks and calls Hope to inform her that Megan is on the loose again. Shawn hates scaring her like this but wants to make sure she’s being extra careful so that her and Bo don’t get hurt more than they already have been. Shawn tells Hope that he loves her and to tell Bo the same and that he’s thinking about him every second of every day. Shawn adds that if anything changes, he will let her know as soon as possible. Shawn then hangs up and pulls out a bottle of alcohol to take a drink.

Gwen walks through the town square and runs in to Kristen. Gwen tells her that she heard about her ordeal in the DiMera secret room. Kristen says it’s nothing a bitter cappuccino won’t fix. Kristen adds that her memory is still a little fuzzy but other than that, no lasting damage hopefully. Kristen asks how Gwen is. Gwen responds that she’s engaged and shows her the ring.

Dimitri returns home to find Leo in his room. Dimitri asks what the hell he’s doing in his room. Leo responds that he’s about to expose him for the vicious swindler he is. Leo declares that he’s only marrying Gwen to get his hands on the inheritance money. Leo states that he’s going to tell Gwen everything and there’s nothing he can do to stop him. Dimitri responds that he thinks there is as he grabs Leo and kisses him.

Gabi and Stefan confront Li in the interrogation room. Stefan comments on Li not answering the police’s questions which Li calls his right. Gabi brings up that Harris already informed them that Li hired him to kill Stefan. Stefan calls that an epic fail. Gabi can’t believe Li tried to have the man she loves killed so that she would be available again. Gabi tells Li that he might as well confess because he and his homicidal henchman are going down.

Harris is handcuffed to a hospital bed. Kate enters and says she heard he was here under observation but guesses that she had to see it for herself. Kate asks what happened. Harris tells her to ask the morons who brought him in. Kate says she’s asking him because last time they saw each other, he said he was going to take care of Megan and then she got a text from him saying “mission accomplished” but then she finds out that Megan is hosting a party at the Bistro and Harris crashed the party in a big way. Kate adds that he didn’t grab Megan, but tried to kill Stefan DiMera because Li Shin told him to. Kate declares that the whole thing makes zero sense but Harris says it makes perfect sense to him. Kate states that if that’s true then he’s in the right place because he needs his head examined by an expert.

Kristen shows up at Marlena’s door. Marlena tells her that Rachel left for a camp a week ago and she never even said goodbye. Kristen informs Marlena that she was held captive by her deranged sister, Megan. Marlena brings up Megan being in the hospital. EJ appears and says he told Kristen to wait until he parked. EJ confirms everything Kristen is saying is true as he was held captive too. Marlena questions why Megan would do such a thing. EJ says that’s an excellent question and they need her help to answer it.

Leo goes to the hospital and tells Gwen that he came to see if there’s any word on Megan. Gwen says there isn’t and that Dimitri is in with her now, but she hasn’t regained consciousness. Leo asks if Gwen accepted Dimitri’s proposal. Gwen responds that the subject hasn’t come up because they are in a hospital. Gwen argues that it’s been two days since Megan was shot and Dimitri doesn’t know if she’s going to live or die. Gwen states that Dimitri is completely falling apart and her heart is breaking for him. Leo tells Gwen that she’s sad as he can’t believe she’s falling for his poor little rich boy act.

Dimitri sits at Megan’s side in her hospital room as she begins to wake up. Megan asks where she is. Dimitri informs her that she’s in the hospital after having emergency surgery two days ago. Megan questions what happened. Dimitri reveals that she was shot at the engagement party but guesses she doesn’t remember. Dimitri explains how Harris Michaels showed up armed and said that Li Shin ordered him to kill Stefan but before he pulled the trigger, Gabi jumped on him and Megan ended up getting shot. Megan questions why she is handcuffed to the bed if she’s the victim here.

Li tells Gabi that she’s insane if she thinks he would hire someone to kill Stefan. Gabi brings up that Li tried to off Stefan before. Stefan questions how Li knows Harris Michaels. Li claims he doesn’t but Gabi points out that Harris said he was acting under Li’s orders. Li argues that it makes no sense. Stefan says it makes perfect sense if Li brainwashed Harris like he did to him. Gabi adds that the police believe someone messed with his head. Stefan brings up Li knowing Dr. Rolf very well. Gabi says messing with people’s heads is Dr. Rolf’s specialty so Li could’ve gotten him to help him. Li insists that he’s innocent. Gabi asks why Harris would walk in to their party with his gun pointed at Stefan and say that Li ordered him to kill him then.

Harris tells Kate that he takes his orders from Li Shin, not her, and he wanted Stefan out of the way so he could have a clear path to Gabi. Kate brings up how two days ago at the Pub, Harris told her that he had put a tracking device on Megan’s car, then got an alert and went after her, but now he’s asking her to believe that Li Shin redirected him to another target. Kate is not believing that. Harris tells her that Megan got hers anyway. Kate knows she took a stray bullet at the Bistro but notes that Harris still hasn’t answered her question. Harris declares that he’s done talking and suggests she go get someone to cut him loose so that he can finish his real mission.

Megan questions why she is shackled to the bed. Dimitri informs her that she’s been arrested. Megan asks what she has been accused of. Dimitri explains that after she was shot, EJ and Kristen told the cops that she was holding them in the basement of the DiMera Mansion. Megan says he must be joking and claims it’s not true. Megan calls it the most absurd thing she’s ever heard in her life.

Marlena doesn’t know why she would help with anything. EJ knew she would be reluctant because of Kristen and also because he’s not her favorite person, but they have come to her with respect and humility because she is the only person who can provide the kind of help they need. Marlena asks what that means. EJ informs her that Megan was arrested but unless they can tell them exactly what happened and why, they are going to let her go. Marlena questions why he doesn’t go to the police and tell them then. Kristen explains that they don’t remember. Marlena asks if they are trying to rope her in to DiMera family hijinks. EJ explains that Megan injected them with a drug to erase their memory so that’s why they need Marlena to bring them back. Kristen adds that after everything Megan has done to Marlena, she thought she would leap at the chance to put her away, even if that means helping her.

Gwen questions why Leo has a pillow case. Leo says he brought her extra clothes if she needs to change. Gwen admits that was thoughtful. Leo comments that she seems to be living here at the hospital. Gwen assures that she’s going home to sleep, so she won’t need a change of clothes. Leo says he’ll take it back then. Gwen complains about him looking at her disapprovingly. Gwen says she’s just supporting Dimitri through this rough time with his mother. Leo says that Gwen is the one he’s worried about and he will continue to until she sees the light. Gwen calls him cynical and mistrusting. Leo calls Dimitri a dangerous predator. Leo tells Gwen that he loves her while Dimitri does not. Leo urges her to wake up because Dimitri has caused her to throw logic out the window so that he can suck her in. Leo adds that Dimitri is trying to pull her further in to his web with his crocodile tears over his mom. Gwen tells him that he couldn’t be more wrong about Dimitri. Gwen says that Dimitri hasn’t eaten or slept and his pain is very real like she knows his feelings for her are as well. Gwen declares that Dimitri is absolutely beside himself over whether or not Megan survives. Leo argues that’s only because Dimitri needs Megan for whatever he has planned for her.

Megan insists to Dimitri that there is nothing to EJ and Kristen’s claims. Dimitri brings up that EJ and Kristen did disappear rather suddenly a few weeks ago. Megan claims that Kristen went to New York for a custody lawyer while EJ probably wanted to escape Nicole. Dimitri asks why they would lie about being held in the wine cellar. Megan argues that’s what they do because they aren’t true DiMeras like them, so they will do and say anything they can to blacken her name and drag her down. Megan tells Dimitri to say what he’s thinking. Dimitri feels their story makes him think of a couple of things. Dimitri brings up seeing Megan heading in to the tunnels on the night of the party. Megan insists she was getting a bottle of champagne. Dimitri brings up another time when he saw her standing in front of the secret panel with a tray of enough food to feed two people but she was by herself. Megan complains of how much this hurts her that her own son could think she would do something so malevolent or that she would be so cruel to her own siblings. Dimitri admits he has no theory as to why she would do this. Megan insists that it defies all logic. Megan asks what EJ and Kristen say her motive was. Dimitri responds that they don’t know and are claiming Megan injected them with something to make them forget. Megan states that she’s getting the distinct impression that he believes them. Megan warns that if Dimitri turns against her, it will break her heart and asks if that’s what he wants to do. Dimitri says of course not so Megan orders him to tell her that he believes and trusts her and that he will never betray her.

Marlena questions EJ and Kristen about Megan wiping out their memories. EJ explains that they only know they were held captive and drugged. EJ says that Megan may be their sister but she belongs behind bars. Kristen brings up how much John hurt when he thought Marlena was dead and warns that Megan can inflict that kind of pain on everyone in Salem but the problem is they have no idea what Megan’s plans are or who is in her crosshairs.

Gabi asks Li again why Harris would say he ordered him to kill Stefan if that’s not true. Li thinks back to telling Megan that he wanted to make sure this couldn’t be traced back to them and Megan reassuring him. Li argues that Gabi and Stefan are so quick to blame him when they are completely overlooking the person who is actually guilty, Megan Hathaway. Li declares that it couldn’t be more obvious since Megan used Dr. Rolf to brainwash Harris once and now she’s done it again.

Kate tells Harris that it would make sense if Megan somehow flipped the tables on him. Kate doesn’t know why Megan would want to kill her brother, but somehow she thinks Megan is up to her eyeballs in this. Harris tells Kate that she’s wrong and tells her to go away. Kate insists that she’s going to help him get back to his right mind. Harris argues that there is nothing wrong with his mind. Kate points out that he’s shackled to the bed after an attempted assassination. Kate repeats that this isn’t him. Harris tells her to stop. Kate knows the last time he was deprogrammed, it wasn’t pleasant, so they don’t have to call in ISA. Kate insists that Marlena can do it here but Harris says no. Kate reminds Harris that he came to Salem to stop Megan from ever hurting anyone ever again, but she has hurt him and stripped him of his humanity to use him to do her dirty work. Kate argues that he can’t let her do that again, so he has to find his true self. Kate tells Harris that he’s a good, decent man and a hero, mentioning that he saved her life, so she wants to help him. Kate adds that she can only help him if he gives her his consent and asks if he will do that. Harris asks why he would consent to letting a shrink mess with his head. Harris argues that he answers to Li Shin and doesn’t need to be programmed to do what he wants. Kate argues that anyone being okay with murder means he was turned by someone to use him as a tool and that screams Megan Hathaway to her. Kate repeats that he can’t let Megan do this to him again. Kate hopes that Harris will accept her help, because if he doesn’t, he will forever be a pawn for Megan’s sick game. Kate then exits the room.

Gabi questions why Megan would want Stefan dead when he is her brother. Li points out that he’s also co-CEO of DiMera which means he has what all DiMeras want, a bigger slice of the pie and a bigger role in the company if Stefan met his untimely demise. Gabi argues that Megan wants the company but wouldn’t take out a family member to get it. Stefan points out that Li would absolutely take him out for another chance at Gabi. Li questions them thinking that’s the only possibility. Li reminds Gabi that he didn’t fight her on the divorce and told her that he just wanted her to be happy. Li questions why he would risk his freedom and everything to have Stefan killed, despite knowing Gabi’s heart would always belong to him. Li wishes Stefan luck and remarks that he hopes there’s enough room in the bed for Stefan, Gabi, and her ego.

Dimitri assures Megan that he is on her side and would never betray or turn his back on her. Dimitri apologizes for ever making her feel otherwise. Megan calls him the most important person in her life. Megan knows she can be overbearing at times but it’s only because she wants him to have a very full, happy life. Megan says she has done everything she can to protect him from those would sabotage or undermine him like they tried to do to her. Megan asks Dimitri for good news and how things are going with Gwen. Dimitri says he proposed with a diamond ring but she hasn’t accepted yet. Dimitri notes that Gwen has been by his side since the moment Megan was brought in to the hospital and she hasn’t left once. Megan calls that wonderful. Megan knows she was somewhat callous at the beginning of all this wanting him to get married for the inheritance, but says nothing would lift her spirits more than knowing that when Dimitri does marry Gwen, he will not only have secured the Von Leuschner fortune, but found someone to truly love.

Gwen questions Leo thinking Megan is plotting against her. Leo says they are both thick as thieves. Gwen thinks Leo is reaching. Leo informs her that when he sent Kristen and EJ free, they thought Megan and Dimitri were using her. Gwen questions for what purpose. Leo admits they couldn’t remember but they are sure that those two are plotting something.

Kristen asks if Marlena will help them figure out what Megan was plotting and says she will beg if she has to. EJ says they tried and they will go but Marlena stops and invites them in. Marlena locks the door to ensure they are not interrupted and asks who wants to go first.

Gabi and Stefan leave the interrogation room. Gabi admits at first she thought Li was just trying to throw off suspicion onto Megan. Stefan admits that it does make sense while Gabi acknowledges that Megan has brainwashed Harris before. Gabi keeps going back to the moment where Harris was trying to shoot him. Gabi notes that Harris was a navy SEAL so he wasn’t going to miss. Stefan still can’t believe what she did to save him. Gabi says she had to because she was not going to let that happen again. Gabi tells Stefan that she loves him so much and the monster that did this is going to have to pay. Gabi asks if Stefan thinks it was Megan. Stefan brings up wondering why Megan was so insistent on throwing them this party and that being where all this happened. Gabi brings up EJ and Kristen saying they were held captive for weeks and not knowing why. Stefan points out that maybe they were onto her and she needed them out of the way. Gabi wonders if Megan injected them with something to make them forget. Gabi complains that she wants to kill Megan. Stefan notes that they are still not sure and it’s too dangerous for her to confront Megan by herself, so they need to let the authorities handle this. Stefan decides he will go talk to Melinda Trask and tells Gabi to go home. Gabi says she just wants this over and for Stefan to be safe as she then exits.

Leo tells Gwen that it’s exhausting trying to convince her that he just wants her to be safe. Gwen asks if he wants her to be happy because Dimitri makes her happy. Leo shouts that orgasms don’ count. Gwen says enough of the crude jokes and argues that there is absolutely no proof that Dimitri is up to no good. Leo says he’ll go back to the DiMera Mansion to dig something up. Gwen points out that he said that last time too. Leo argues that he got sidetracked by finding EJ and Kristen, adding that just because he didn’t find something the first time doesn’t mean there is nothing there. Gwen tells Leo to go ahead and waste his time. Leo asks Gwen to promise not to answer Dimitri’s proposal until he reports back. Gwen argues that he’s asking a lot. Gwen points out that it’s been days since Dimitri proposed and asks what if he gets tired of waiting and takes it back. Leo says she could consider herself lucky then and exits the hospital.

Megan jokes about her brush with death when she lost her life once before some time ago. Dimitri encourages that she’ll come back again, stronger than ever. Megan feels being out of commission for awhile might be an opportunity for Dimitri and Gwen to spend some very valuable time together. Gwen then enters the room, happy to see Megan is awake. Megan responds that she’s very happy to see Gwen. Gwen assures that she wouldn’t be anywhere else as she and Dimitri have been praying for her recovery. Megan says she’s very grateful to both of them.

After hypnosis, Marlena tells EJ and Kristen that they both did very well. EJ asks if everything is clear now to Kristen. Kristen argues that Megan intended to kill Stefan and brainwashed Harris while EJ adds that she set up Li Shin to take the fall. EJ is thankful it all came back to them. Kristen worries that it still is their word against Megan’s. EJ says they know the truth. EJ tells Marlena that he knows this was difficult for her but because of her, they can now stop Megan. EJ and Kristen both thank Marlena. Marlena tells them to just make sure Megan pays. Kristen asks what their next move is. EJ suggests they split up and Kristen go to the police station to alert the police while he goes to pay Megan a visit in the hospital.

Gwen tells Megan that it’s so wonderful and an absolute relief. Megan comments on Gwen being by Dimitri’s side through the entire ordeal. Gwen says she’s seen how devoted Dimitri is to Megan as he was sick with worry. Megan says there’s no more worry now, just a great deal of gratitude to have so many happy days ahead of them. Megan states that this entire experience has made her realize how much she was taking for granted but nothing in life is guaranteed as it could all end tomorrow in an instant. Megan mentions hoping that Dimitri and Gwen will be starting a new life together. Megan advises them not to postpone their happiness and to seize any opportunity rather than letting it pass by. Megan says she suddenly feels tired and thinks she needs to rest. Megan assures that they warmed her heart and inspired her to get better quickly but they can go home now and get out of the hospital. Megan says seeing them grow closer together and make each other happy reminds her of the richness and wealth in life if they simply commit to receive it. Gwen decides to let her rest and exits while Dimitri says he’ll be right behind her. Dimitri praises Megan and thinks she got her point across very effectively. Megan declares that it’s time for Dimitri to take the reins and make Gwen his wife. Megan warns him not to trust the others and to never forget that they are a team so they must stick together as a united front. Dimitri agrees and tells her that he loves her as he then exits.

Stefan makes a call to tell Melinda that it’s urgent. Kristen arrives at the police station and tells Stefan that she also needs to talk to Melinda about Megan.

EJ goes to the hospital and runs in to Kate, who asks what’s wrong. EJ says he doesn’t have time to explain but he’s looking for Megan’s room so he can tell her that the jig is up.

Kristen informs Stefan that Marlena agreed to hypnotize her and EJ and now they know the truth about what Megan did to them and tried to do to Stefan.

EJ informs Kate that Megan was the one who wanted Stefan dead. Kate notes that Harris is convinced that he got the order from Li Shin.

Stefan tells Kristen about Li denying giving Harris the order to kill but he and Gabi didn’t know whether to believe him. Kristen says he can believe her because Harris did not gets his commands from Li.

EJ tells Kate to forget Li because this was all Megan’s doing to get control of the company. Kate remarks that she knew it.

Kristen tells Stefan that Megan gambled on her and EJ not remembering but she lost. Stefan calls it the perfect setup because she programmed Harris to think he got his orders from Li, so her hands would stay clean. Kristen says not anymore because everyone is going to know the truth, starting with Melinda. Stefan mentions leaving her a message to call him after her meeting. Stefan tells Kristen that she doesn’t need to hang around because as Megan’s intended victim, he wants to be the one to give Melinda everything she needs to nail Megan to the wall. Kristen decides she will see him back at home then and exits the police station.

EJ tells Kate that it’s time to let Megan know that she’s not fooling anyone anymore. Kate wants to see the look on Megan’s face when she finds out that she’s spending the rest of her life in a cage. EJ tells Kate to join him then as he heads for Megan’s room.

Marlena goes to the hospital to see Harris Michaels, noting that she got a message through the police that he wanted to see her. Harris thanks her for coming and says he realized that he needed her help.

Leo returns to the DiMera Mansion through the tunnels and begins to search the living room until Kristen comes home and asks what the hell he’s doing, startling him.

Dimitri brings Gwen home to her room at the Salem Inn and says it probably feels like forever since she’s been here. Gwen admits she hasn’t really missed it because where ever he is, is where she now want to be as they kiss. Dimitri tells her how much it meant to him to have her by his side. Gwen assures she never would have left him alone. Dimitri kisses her and says he should go while she gets some rest and he’ll call her later. Gwen stops him and says she knows a lot is going on right now but she hasn’t forgotten that he is waiting on her response to his proposal. Dimitri tells her not to worry as that can wait but Gwen decides it can’t wait and she has an answer now. Gwen then says yes to Dimitri’s proposal.

Stefan returns to Li in the interrogation room. Li asks if he believes him now. Stefan assures that he would never take Li’s word on anything but Kristen was there and confirmed what he said, that Megan programmed Harris to kill him. Li tells Stefan to go talk to the police and get him out then. Stefan argues that this may have been Megan’s plan but Li could have been in on it, so until he has confirmation that he wasn’t, he’s not going anywhere.

EJ and Kate go to Megan’s hospital room to confront her but instead they find Gabi now handcuffed to the bed.

Talia works community service by cleaning up in the town square and she picks up a missing persons poster of Abe on the ground. Chanel comes out of the Bakery, complaining on the phone about trying to run a business when her partner left town and her best employee tried to ruin her business as she then turns and sees Talia.

Jerry goes to the docks and sees the memorial shrine of Abe. Theo approaches him and asks if he knew his dad. Theo introduces himself and asks who he is.

Lani and Eli go over the eye witness who saw Abe fall in to the water being an actor. Lani goes over his resume, seeing that he hasn’t been in much but some local theater, a commercial, and then sees a couple years ago that he was in Body and Soul.

Abe continues watching Body and Soul where Jerry shows up as an actor in the show. Abe recognizes him and questions it being Theo. Abe asks what his son is doing in this and what the hell is going on here.

Whitley shows up at Paulina’s door. Paulina asks what she’s doing there. Whitley says she came to say she’s sorry.

Chanel talks on the phone about just losing someone dear to them and the bakery is reopening tomorrow, so she needs something really good to happen. Chanel hangs up and explains to Talia that she’s dealing with a flour delivery. Talia asks if she’s reopening tomorrow. Chanel says that’s the plan if nothing else goes wrong. Talia says she’s just doing her community service. Chanel asks about getting a deal. Talia explains that Melinda had experience with an abusive relationship so she showed her some mercy. Chanel says good for her and that she should go but Talia stops her as she really wanted to say how sorry she is.

Paulina questions what Whitley is sorry for. Whitley says she heard about her husband’s death and wanted to share her deep condolences. Paulina thanks her and says that’s very kind. Whitley claims she didn’t know Abe well but he seemed like a decent and caring man. Paulina remarks that Whitley may have been the last person to see him alive. Whitley responds that she thought so, but it sounds like that guy at the docks was the last person to see him before his tragic fate.

Eli tells Lani that he’s never heard of Body and Soul but Lani says she knows he used to watch it during the day when he worked night shifts. Eli claims not to know what she’s talking about. Lani brings up that the TV used to be on the channel when she came home. Eli then admits that he watched it here and there but says it was only because he had a crush on an actress named Sal, who reminded him of Lani. Eli says he doesn’t recall seeing Jerry on the show. Lani notes that it looks like he was only in a couple of episodes. Eli guesses he gave up his Hollywood dreams and moved back to Salem. Lani admits she was hoping for a mugshot and not a headshot. Eli says he ran him through the system but it came back clean, so it looks like he was just an innocent bystander on the docks. Lani questions why Jerry would have any reason to lie about seeing Abe fall in to the water.

Jerry introduces himself to Theo. Theo recognizes his name as being the witness who saw Abe fall in to the river. Theo questions what he’s doing here now. Jerry guesses he was drawn to come back because he felt guilty which Theo questions.

Abe questions Theo being an actor, saying that doesn’t make sense. In the show, Jerry’s character is put up to pretending to be someone else and is told that no one will be the wiser. Abe remarks that he sure as hell will be.

Talia tells Chanel that she felt terrible when she heard the news as she was praying that Abe would be found safely. Chanel says they all were as not knowing was awful, especially for Paulina. Chanel adds that now they have closure, but Abe is gone. Talia says she will never be able to forgive herself for the role that she had in all of this. Talia adds that if Colin never assaulted Abe and she would’ve never helped him. Chanel assures that the what if’s are pointless now and won’t change anything. Chanel declares that all they can do is keep moving forward. Talia tells Chanel that she was right that she was putting up the missing person flyers because of her guilty conscience, but it didn’t work. Talia knows there is nothing she can do to make up for how she hurt Chanel and her family.

Jerry tells Theo that he feels guilty because he saw Abe fall and he almost got to him, but it was too late and he wanted to jump in to save him, but he can’t swim. Theo understands and says Abe wouldn’t have wanted him to lose his life trying to save his. Theo adds that Jerry did what he could and called 911, but at least they know what happened to him. Theo says he’s glad he ran in to him, so he could thank him for that.

Paulina tells Whitley that was very kind of her and says she obviously cares very deeply for her patients. Whitley says that Abe wasn’t just a patient as she voted for him in every election and volunteered for his campaign. Whitley talks about feeling like she knew Abe personally before she ever met him. Paulina says that Abe had an amazing connection with people. Whitley tells her that she was very lucky to have him as long as she did. Paulina notes that doesn’t make the loss any easier and points out that today was supposed to be their first wedding anniversary. Whitley reveals that she was in the park on the day of their wedding as she was there for a Juneteenth barbecue and then just stumbled upon it. Whitley talks about being happy to be a part of that day. Whitley declares that she will never forget Abe and feels blessed to have known him.

Lani reads Whitley’s statement and says it seems like she was the last person to see Abe before he left the hospital, but there’s still all that time until he was seen at the docks. Lani wonders where he could have gone. Eli assures they checked every security camera in Salem and there’s nothing. Lani sees Rafe in the window and worries about getting Eli in trouble but Eli assures that he’s not worried about that. Eli and Lani exit the interrogation room to see Rafe and Jada. Rafe hugs Lani and says it’s so good to see her though he wishes it was under any other circumstances. Rafe introduces Lani to Jada. Jada tells Lani that she’s so sorry to hear about her loss as Abe was a wonderful man. Lani thanks her and appreciates her working so hard on the case. Rafe is sure that Lani didn’t come all the way down just to say hello. Eli admits that was part of it. Rafe agrees to allow Lani to look at the evidence and pretend that he doesn’t know about it. Lani thanks him for understanding. Eli gets a call from his boss in Washington DC, so he steps away to answer. Rafe tells Lani that he’s sorry as he wishes he had better information on Abe. Lani knows Rafe has gone over the case 100 different ways but thought if she saw the evidence herself, it would help her to accept what happened. Lani adds that any if they did figure it out, nothing will bring Abe back.

Abe skips ahead in the recording of Body and Soul to see the credits. Abe pauses it when he finds out that “Theo’s” real name is Jerry Prentiss. Abe asks what the hell as that’s not his son’s name. Abe declares that this means “Paulina” has been lying to him and wonders what else she’s been lying about. Abe decides he has to get out of here and tries to get up.

Chanel asks Talia if she’s still seeing Marlena. Talia confirms that she is. Chanel hopes she is helping her. Talia admits that she is more than she could have hoped. Chanel says she’s glad to hear that. Talia says she’s glad to see she is moving forward too. Talia knows Chanel will make the bakery a success again. Chanel says she will try and confirms that she found someone good to replace Talia. Chanel mentions going home to shower and change, then making it back for the flour delivery tonight. Talia wishes her luck with everything tomorrow and says to tell Paulina how sorry she is about everything. Chanel agrees to and thanks her as she then walks away.

Whitley tells Paulina that she should get going. Paulina stops her to ask a favor. Paulina brings up that Whitley may have been the last person to talk to Abe. Paulina asks if she could tell him his last words to her because Chanel said Abe was confused and didn’t even remember who she was, so she wondered if Whitley had the same experience. Whitley flashes back to seeing Abe in the hospital when Abe thought that she was Paulina. Whitley then informs Paulina that Abe said her name, so on some level, he must have remembered her. Paulina thanks her and calls her an angel, saying she has no idea what it means to her to hear that. Whitley says she’s going to work now. Paulina thanks her again for stopping by as Whitley then exits.

Rafe hopes Eli is taking Lani somewhere special for their anniversary. Jada wishes Lani a happy anniversary. Lani explains that they agreed not to celebrate until she’s actually free. Eli returns and announces that his boss just assigned him to a new case in Arizona. Eli says he tried to explain the situation but this case is tied to another that he’s been working on for months. Lani can’t believe it. Eli tells her that he’s sorry. Eli hopes it’s just for a day as he will do everything he can to get back in time for Abe’s funeral. Lani knows he can’t make any promises and understands he has a job to do. Lani brings up that under supervised release, he agreed to look after her. Rafe steps in and says he will take over and get on the phone with corrections right away. Eli thanks him. Rafe feels it’s the least he could do. Lani asks Eli when he leaves. Eli says he has the latest possible flight, so at least they have some time together before he leaves. Lani decides they will just have to make the most of the time they have. Eli wants to stop by Doug and Julie’s to say goodbye before he leaves. Lani agrees as long as they can make one other stop on the way.

Theo asks Jerry how Abe seemed, if he was confused or upset. Jerry responds that he’s not sure as he was pretty far away. Theo asks if it looked like he just tripped. Jerry says pretty much as it all happened so fast and he doesn’t think he was in any pain. Theo says that’s good to know and thanks him. Jerry wishes he could tell him more or could have done more as Abe seemed like a pretty special guy. Theo states that he was and he’s going to miss him forever. Jerry then tells Theo that there is something he needs to tell him.

Abe insists that he has to get out of here and see what’s going on but Whitley comes home and questions what he’s doing. Abe responds that he’s leaving but Whitley tells him that he’s not.

Rafe drops a pile of case folders on Jada’s desk and says he’s sorry as he knows she’s already swamped. Jada wishes they had Eli and Lani back on the force to help get through all these cases. Jada brings up that they have Li Shin in custody, Harris Michaels under observation at the hospital, and then there’s Kristen and EJ’s kidnapping situation which is fishy. Rafe remembers one more assignment and instructs Jada to go home and watch some fireworks. Rafe adds that he’s not saying she has to watch the fireworks with him, but if she wants to spend her well-deserved time off with him. Jada responds that she does enjoy being discrete with him so she agrees.

Theo asks Jerry what he has to tell him. Jerry states that Theo suffered such a terrible loss. Eli and Lani then arrive on the docks, interrupting them. Lani comments on the shrine for Abe. Theo asks what they are doing there. Lani explains that she asked Eli to bring her so she could see the scene of the accident, but she didn’t know the shrine would be there. Theo states that a lot of people loved Abe. Lani recognizes Jerry. Theo explains that Jerry came because he felt bad about not being able to help Abe, but he told him that it’s not his fault and they don’t blame him. Jerry thanks him for saying that. Lani questions Jerry not telling Eli that he was on Body and Soul. Jerry calls that a long time ago. Lani jokes that if Eli had known, he probably would’ve asked for his autograph because he’s secretly a fan of his. Jerry decides that this is clearly a family moment, so he should just go. Theo reminds Jerry that before Eli and Lani showed up, he said he had something to tell him. Jerry claims he just wanted to tell him again how terrible he felt and how sorry he is as he then rushes off.

Chanel goes home to Paulina, who asks about the reopening of the Bakery. Chanel says it’s coming along. Paulina figured she’d be there all night getting ready. Chanel says she just came home to shower and change, then she will head back to get ready. Chanel still feels bad about leaving Paulina alone. Paulina points out that she wasn’t alone the whole time as Whitley came by to pay her respects. Paulina says Whitley had so many wonderful things to say about Abe. Paulina notes that he wasn’t her patient for long but he really seemed to touch her life.

Abe accuses Whitley of lying to her. Whitley asks what he’s talking about. Abe reveals that he saw “Theo” on Body and Soul and then he watched the credits which didn’t say Theo Carver, but Jerry Prentiss. Whitley claims that’s his stage name because there was another actor named Theo Carver. Whitley says that was pretty much his last role and then he moved to South Africa where he opened his own business. Abe responds that he doesn’t believe any of it.

Theo questions Eli leaving tonight. Eli wishes he didn’t have to. Theo says it’s his anniversary so that sucks. Lani reminds him that they are not celebrating until she’s really free. Theo argues that Abe wouldn’t want them to wait. Lani questions pulling the dad card but Eli feels he’s kind of right. Eli says he leaves in hours and hasn’t spent a night with her in so long. Eli says they don’t have to make it about their anniversary but he just wants to spend the time they have together. Theo agrees and says he’s going to head to Paulina’s as Chanel is reopening the bakery tomorrow, so he’s sure Paulina could use the comfort. Lani thanks him. Theo says he’ll see them soon. Theo pulls a teddy bear out of his backpack and explains that Abe got him for him at a carnival when he was six. Theo decides to leave the bear here at the shrine with Abe. Lani tells Theo that she loves him. Theo says the same as they hug. Theo then leaves the docks. Lani cries that she knew Abe was gone but doesn’t think she felt it until right now. Eli tells her that he’s so sorry.

Chanel tells Paulina that it sounds like she and Theo have big plans tonight. Paulina says it’s just dinner and fireworks on TV. Paulina asks Chanel about her new employee at the Bakery. Chanel says she’s okay. Paulina questions just okay. Chanel says she’s fine, just not Talia. Chanel brings up running in to Talia in the town square and says she wanted to tell her how sorry she is about Abe and how ashamed she feels about her place in what happened. Paulina understands that Talia was under the spell of a very bad man, so her heart goes out to her and she thinks she should let go of the guilt and shame to focus on being wiser and stronger from now on and making a good life for herself. Chanel calls that very kind of her and agrees to tell her that, if she ever sees her again.

Talia goes to the police station and tells Jada that she came to give her parole officer her signed forms to show she’s doing her community service and therapy, but she can’t seem to find her anywhere. Jada says she will take care of it for her and asks how therapy is going. Talia says it’s going very well as Marlena is the best. Jada is glad it’s working. Talia adds that Marlena even offered to help her find a job at the hospital when her probation ends. Jada calls that amazing as Talia will finally get back to what she dreamed of doing. Talia mentions seeing Chanel before and she said she hired a new woman. Jada asks if she’s jealous. Talia says no but admits she misses working at the bakery a lot and she knows Chanel will never forgive her for what she did and she shouldn’t. Talia reveals that every time she sees Chanel, she misses her too.

Whitley claims to Abe that everything she’s told him is the truth. Abe argues that it’s not and that something has felt wrong from the beginning. Whitley suggests he lay down but Abe shouts that he wants her to tell him the truth right now or he will call the police. Whitley then grabs a syringe and injects him with a mild sedative. Abe questions her drugging him. Whitley says he was confused and upset. Whitley then declares that she can never let him leave.

Chanel runs in to Talia in the town square. Talia says she realized she never returned her apron and that Chanel will need it for her new employee. Chanel thanks her and their hands touch as Fourth of July fireworks start to go off in the square.

Eli and Lani watch the fireworks in the park. Lani tells him that she’s really grateful to be here with him in this moment, but she misses her dad and their beautiful babies. Eli shows her a picture that their kids drew for her. Lani says she loves it but doesn’t have anything to give him. Eli says just having her here with him is the best gift he could ever receive. Eli adds that it just sucks they don’t have more time together. Lani assures they will be together soon enough. Eli states that she will be free and they will be a family again. Lani declares that she will never take that for granted again. Eli and Lani say I love you to each other as they kiss.

Jerry returns to Abe’s memorial shrine at the docks. Jerry looks at the teddy bear that Theo left and rips off the “RIP Dad” card attached to it, then throws the card in to the water.

Rafe and Jada lay in bed together, watching the fireworks on TV.

Theo and Paulina sit at home watching the fireworks on TV. Theo offers her a tissue as she holds back tears. Paulina tells him that she’s thinking about last year’s 4th of July as Abe was sitting where Theo is now and they were watching TV while he was trying so hard to be strong after Lani had just been sent to prison and Theo had gone back to South Africa. Paulina recalls watching the fireworks and seeing a tear run down Abe’s face.

Whitley and a sedated Abe sit together watching the fireworks on TV. Whitley calls it a perfect night for just the two of them.
