Days of Our Lives Update

Belle is at the Brady Pub, on the phone with Marlena. Belle talks about the relief knowing that Shawn is getting help and agreed to the 24 hour hold, though she knows he won’t get past this in just a few hours. Belle finishes her call as Brady enters the Pub. Belle hugs him and thanks him for agreeing to meet. Brady says it sounded urgent and asks if it’s about reopening the custody suit. Belle informs him that it’s about Philip. Brady realizes that she knows that Philip is alive and well. Belle reveals that she knows lot more than that as she knows what he wants. Brady can’t believe that Belle took on Philip as a client and questions who conned her in to doing that.

Chloe sits at home and thinks back to Philip showing up at her door, Philip revealing what he had done, then asking Brady if he would have Philip arrested, and calling Belle to be Philip’s lawyer. Xander interrupts her by commenting that she’s a million miles away. Chloe claims she was just thinking about all she has to do at work. Xander suggests they should get to work but Chloe asks him to go ahead as she has a million things to do. Xander offers to help her but Chloe promises she’ll be fine and that it’s no big deal. Xander remarks that if he didn’t know any better, he’d say she was trying to get rid of him. They then hear a glass break and Xander comments that if he didn’t know any better, he’d also say they aren’t alone.

Stefan makes sure he and Gabi are alone in their room as they go over knowing now that Dimitri married Gwen to get his hands on the family fortune and also that he has a side piece. Gabi calls it risky behavior to be sneaking his side piece in to the DiMera Mansion. Stefan calls it stupid behavior because if Elliot finds out, his fortune is gone. They wonder when Dimitri would’ve met someone else anyways or why he wouldn’t just kick Gwen to the curb and marry the side piece instead. Gabi declares that the burning question is why Dimitri married Gwen instead of the side piece.

Dimitri argues that Leo can’t be serious about dressing up as Gwen to come meet the lawyer. Leo says he’s serious and all he asks for is the check he promised him. Leo points out that the act would have to be perfect and no one knows Gwen better than he does.

Gwen questions why Kristen would assume Dimitri told her everything and what she means. Kristen claims it’s nothing at all and that she just jumped to the wrong conclusion. Kristen tells Gwen to just forget she said anything. Gwen says she would like to but she can’t because it’s Kristen. Gwen states that she and Dimitri just got back from their honeymoon and they are madly in love, so she questions why Kristen would assume she’d be so angry that she’d want to hit him over the head. Kristen repeats that she jumped to the wrong conclusion. Gwen feels it’s not as random as she’d like her to believe. Gwen brings up Kristen saying she and Dimitri were discussing strategy for the DiMera board room and that Dimitri said they were going to partner up with another member of the family, but he didn’t say which family member. Gwen asks if she thought she would be so pissed off by it which Kristen goes along with, so Gwen questions who it is. Kristen says she’ll have to ask Dimitri. Gwen argues that she can see Kristen is dying to let the cat out of the bag. Kristen then agrees to tell her but adds that Gwen has to tell Dimitri that she forced her to give her the name. Kristen then tells Gwen that it’s Chad and that she told Dimitri she would be furious. Gwen responds that she’s not furious, but confused because everyone knows Chad hates her for coming between he and Abigail, and he’s not fond of Kristen, so she questions why Chad would want to partner up with her husband and Kristen.

Dimitri argues that the lawyer is no fool and would spot Leo in a second. Leo argues that he must not know drag and that he can make this work. Dimitri warns him about how much money would be riding on him. Leo brings up Dimitri pretending to be an ISA officer in his attempt to take over the world. Leo asks if Dimitri is saying yes.

Stefan wonders why Dimitri wouldn’t marry the side woman instead of Gwen. Gabi suggests she could be married or engaged but questions why he would marry Gwen when she has a worse reputation than herself. Gabi thinks there’s another reason he married Gwen and it’s big. Gabi complains that they need to figure this out today.

Brady questions Belle discussing legal strategy with Philip and Chloe to try to figure out how Philip won’t have to pay for his crimes. Belle insists that Philip is sorry for what he’s done. Brady guesses this is why Shawn didn’t call him back last night and explains that he went straight to Shawn’s office but he wasn’t there, so he left him a note to call him right away. Brady assumes that means Shawn is on Philip’s side. Belle then reveals to Brady that Shawn is no longer police commissioner since Paulina became mayor and decided Rafe should be in that job. Brady apologizes for shooting his mouth off. Belle informs Brady that Shawn is in a really bad place right now as he’s never going to forgive himself for shooting Bo and now he blames himself for Victor’s death, so she worried that Shawn could hurt himself or worse. Belle adds that Marlena got Shawn to commit himself to a 24 hour watch at the hospital, so he’s safe for now. Brady asks if there’s anything he can do. Belle says there’s only one thing and that’s not press charges against Philip.

Chloe reminds Xander that he said he wanted to get to the office. Xander questions ignoring the loud noise from her bedroom. Chloe tries to claim it was the neighbor’s apartment. Xander asks if it’s Brady and says now he knows why Chloe wanted him to go to the office without her. Xander guesses that Brady came by while he was in the shower and that she told him to hide in the room because he was still there. Chloe calls that ridiculous and says it’s not Brady. Xander asks who it is then. Chloe then calls for him to come on out, so Philip reveals himself, shocking Xander.

Gwen asks Kristen what Chad has to gain by working with her and Dimitri since he’s at Titan now. Kristen says he’s still a voting member of the DiMera board and nobody else has approached him yet, so she suggested that she and Dimitri try to entice him in to being a silent partner. Gwen tells Kristen to entice whoever she pleases and to leave her out of it. Gwen decides she wants to take a nap and exits the room.

Gabi tells Stefan that she’s going to search Dimitri’s room because there has to be something in there that will tell them what they want to know. Stefan then follows Gabi out.

Dimitri worries to Leo that this is all very risky. Leo swears that it’s not, pointing out that most of Gwen’s clothes are still in his room from when she lived there. Leo says he’s sneaking around behind his best friend’s back because he can’t resist Dimitri and he flew to Iceland because he couldn’t be without him. Leo assures that he would not put what they have in jeopardy if he wasn’t certain he could pull it off. Dimitri responds that he better get dressed then as they kiss.

Kristen calls Dimitri and says she made up a cover story which Gwen bought. Dimitri complains about having to pretend he’s working with his uncle Chad, who despises him. Kristen brings up that Dimitri said he would have no choice but to tell Gwen. Dimitri tells her that he has something in the works and he will keep her posted. Kristen warns that he damn well better solve his problem because she’s counting on that pay day as they hang up. Dimitri complains about Leo taking so long and worries that he’s doomed.

Brady tells Belle that he asked what he can do for her because of Shawn and tells her not to use that to guilt him in to letting Philip off the hook which she argues she is not doing. Belle says she’s just trying to make him understand that Philip was mentally ill, but he’s better now. Belle knows Brady believes in second chances and adds that Victor would’ve wanted them all to help Philip get his life back together. Belle pleads with Brady, noting that she knows he has no reason to forgive Philip but she also knows he has a big heart so she knows he can do this for him.

Xander questions Philip faking everything and framing Brady which he confirms. Xander remarks that people go on about how bad he is. Philip argues that he was out of his mind. Chloe points out that Philip can’t show his face in public or he could go to prison. Xander questions holing him up in their spare room and notes that he wouldn’t know if he didn’t knock over the lamp, so he questions how long Chloe planned on keeping him in the dark.

Stefan suggests to Gabi that they should make sure everyone is out of the house but Gabi worries that would give Dimitri time. Stefan decides to keep watch in the hall while Gabi sneaks in to Dimitri’s bedroom.

Elliot Roth is in his room at the Salem Inn, on the phone. He says he’s waiting on Dimitri and his wife now and he plans to leave Salem as soon as the meeting is over. Elliot says he hates being away from them too and he loves them as he hangs up when there’s a knock at the door. Elliot answers the door to see Dimitri. He asks where his wife is. Dimitri responds that she’s a little nervous and is checking her make up. Leo then arrives dressed in drag to pretend to be Gwen and tells Elliot that it’s such a pleasure to meet him.

Gabi searches Dimitri’s bedroom. Gwen runs in to Stefan in the hall and question what he’s doing lurking outside of her and Dimitri’s bedroom door. Stefan claims he just noticed the painting on the wall and how beautiful it is. Gwen says she’s going to lie down for a nap and orders Stefan to get out of her way but Stefan says he can’t let her go in there. Gwen questions why the hell not. Gwen asks if there’s a reason why he doesn’t want her to go in to her own bedroom. Stefan claims that he just saw Harold go in there to unpack her things. Gabi hears them from inside. Gwen informs him that she already unpacked herself. Stefan suggests Harold’s unpacking Dimitri’s stuff too and invites Gwen to go downstairs and have a drink where she can tell him all about the honeymoon. Gwen tells Stefan that he can ask Leo, since he’s such a good friend to her that he decided to show up to her honeymoon. Gwen asks Stefan to get away from the door, so he steps aside. Gwen then heads inside.

Dimitri asks Elliot what he needs to know about them. Elliot explains his relatives having concern that their marriage is just out of convenience for the terms of his trust fund. Dimitri remarks that his family are a bunch of cynics but he and Gwen know the truth. Elliot points out the timing of their wedding being suspect. Dimitri argues that he was ready to let the money go because the right woman hadn’t come along but then one day, Gwen walked in to his life and he knew immediately that they were destined for each other. Leo tells Elliot that he hasn’t heard half of their story and that he’s about to learn what a marriage made in Heaven is all about.

Belle comments on Brady getting quiet. Brady responds that he’s trying to think. Kristen enters the Pub and greets them. Brady asks what she wants. Kristen says she heard about Victor and she would say she’s sorry but that would be a lie. Brady asks about Rachel. Kristen says she came here to get food for Rachel. Brady warns Kristen not to get used to her custody.

Chloe apologizes to Xander for not telling him about Philip but says she didn’t want to put him in a position to have to cover for him. Chloe asks Xander to forgive her. Xander admits he can’t stay mad at her and tells Philip that it’s good for him that Chloe still cares about him. Philip acknowledges that Xander is the one Chloe is marrying and congratulates him, saying he’s a lucky guy. Philip adds that Chloe deserves whatever she wants and what she wants is apparently Xander.

Kristen reminds Brady that the judge concluded he was the threat to Rachel and he was right as she brings up what he did to Philip. Brady tells her not to say that he didn’t warn her. Kristen mocks him and exits the Pub. Belle guesses that exchange told her everything she needed to know and that Brady is pressing charges against Philip. Brady reveals that she’s wrong as she talked him out of it. Belle asks if he’s going to keep this quiet. Brady sees that when Philip shows his face in public, he’ll be cleared of all wrongful charges and admits that Philip going to prison doesn’t help him get what he wants which is getting his daughter back and away from Kristen’s clutches as soon as possible. Brady declares that he will not press charges against Philip. Belle doesn’t know how to thank him.

Xander goes over Philip being in major trouble and that he could go to prison but he decided to come back and risk all that just to go to Victor’s funeral. Philip admits that he was sick of hiding and when he heard about his father, he had to be here in hopes of saying a final goodbye and being with family. Chloe then gets a text from Belle.

Gwen enters her bedroom to find Gabi covering the bed with roses. Gwen asks if that’s supposed to be funny. Gabi claims that they heard her honeymoon got cut short so they were trying to make it up to her. Gwen tells her to give it up and admit that she was snooping. Gabi questions why she would do that. Gwen brings up the DiMera board meeting. Stefan tells Gabi there’s no sense in denying as Gwen caught them red handed. Gwen declares the room will be locked from now on and tells them to get the hell out. Gabi remarks that she should’ve known not to tangle with her. Gwen remarks that the DiMeras are all alike. Gabi points out that Gwen is a DiMera too now, for as long as the marriage lasts anyway. Stefan and Gabi then exit together.

Elliot is fascinated to hear about the marriage made in heaven. Dimitri tries to say his wife gets carried away but Leo says he’s eager to share. Leo says they didn’t even like each other when they first met but he realized that it was a defense mechanism because he was falling hard for him, but had no reason to believe anything would come of it. Leo says it feels like destiny now but at first there were too many obstacles. Leo adds that they were determined to push those obstacles out of the way and no one understands what they have. Leo remarks that losing a best friend used to seem unthinkable but questions giving up on a man who is so perfect for him. Elliot calls that very moving but the problem is, he’s not Gwen any more than he is.

Belle tells Brady that Chloe is so relieved and Philip will be too, so she can’t thank him enough. Brady assures that he needs the judge to know that he’s no killer, the sooner the better. Brady declares that he wants his daughter back and as long as that happens, Philip has no reason to fear him. Belle assures that Philip will be so grateful. Brady clarifies that he’s not doing it for Philip but for Victor, Belle, and Chloe.

Philip can’t believe that he can see his mother, go to his father’s funeral, and try to get his life back. Philip guesses all that’s left to say is thanks for everything. Philip apologizes for the intrusion. Chloe tells Philip that she’s really happy for him and tells him to take care of himself. Philip congratulates Xander again and tells him to be good to Chloe as he then exits their apartment.

Leo insists that he is Gwen but Elliot reveals that he’s done his homework and he’s also been to a few drag shows with his husband. Elliot says whoever he is, he’s good but not good enough. Elliot adds that the speech he gave about his feelings for Dimitri, he could tell was from the heart, so it’s obvious that they are in love. Dimitri then gets a call from Gwen but ignores it.

Gwen leaves Dimitri a message to call as soon as he can because she just caught Gabi in their room. Gwen says that Gabi and Stefan are on the warpath and trying to get something on him.

Gabi and Stefan go back to their room, talking about how gullible Gwen is to believe this is all about DiMera business. Stefan notes that now Gwen has her guard up but Gabi doesn’t think that will matter anymore. Gabi then reveals what she found before Gwen came in, a paper from Dimitri’s luggage. Stefan sees that Dimitri paid for two rooms. Gabi guesses that means Dimitri brought the other woman on his honeymoon. Stefan then reveals that Dimitri didn’t bring a woman, he brought Leo Stark which shocks Gabi.

Leo questions Elliot being able to tell they are in love. Elliot says it’s obvious and that they can’t act on it because of the homophobic legal document stipulating that Dimitri must marry a woman to be eligible for his inheritance. Elliot assures that he’s on their side but there’s limits to what he can do. Elliot says as far as he’s concerned, Dimitri has met the terms but others won’t see it that way. Elliot explains that the fund will be paid in payments and gives the first one, but notes that if he wants them to keep coming in, he will have to keep up appearances with Gwen and she cannot be aware of their relationship, nor can the rest of the world. Elliot hopes that someday in the future, they won’t have to hide their true feelings. Leo declares that he’ll go back to hiding his true feelings the minute they leave as he then kisses Dimitri.

Chad surprises Stephanie with a prepared breakfast at home. Stephanie says it looks amazing but she might need help working up an appetite as they start to kiss until the doorbell rings. Chad jokes that he will get rid of whoever that is as he then answers the door to see Alex.

Kristen talks on the phone with Elliot Roth, who says he wasn’t planning on being in Salem this long and asks if Dimitri has returned from his honeymoon as he’d like to settle the matter about his marriage so he can release the funds. Kristen informs him that Dimitri has not returned yet but she will have him get in touch as soon as he does. Kristen reminds Elliot that he could leave the funds with her but Elliot insists on meeting Dimitri and Gwen before any funds can be released. Kristen claims she’s just trying to help. Kristen reminds Elliot that it’s best they keep this between them and away from certain prying eyes in the house.

Stefan and Gabi kiss in their room until Gabi decides play time is over. Stefan says he has to agree if they are going to get to the bottom of what’s going on in the house, then they have no time to waste. Gabi suggests starting with the curious case of Elliot Roth. Gabi promises that once they get to the bottom of what Kristen is up to, they will shut their door and not come out for a month as they continue kissing.

Dimitri and Gwen return home to the living room of the DiMera Mansion where Kristen greets them and asks how the honeymoon was. Gwen responds that it was mostly great. Dimitri informs her that they had some unexpected company. Gwen reveals that Leo turned up. Kristen questions if Leo had a reason for showing up in Iceland. Dimitri tells her about the secret Madonna concert that Leo talked about. Kristen is surprised they are back home ahead of schedule and asks if it was because of Leo. Gwen responds that Kristen knows exactly why they are back ahead of schedule and she does too.

Leo walks through the town square, complaining that he’s going back to the Salem Inn alone while his best friend gets to be with his boyfriend. Leo is then surprised when he bumps in to Sonny. Leo comments on Sonny being back in Salem. Sonny wishes him luck with his bag. Leo stops him and asks when he got back and why he’s here. Sonny reminds Leo that his uncle Victor died. Leo says he’s so sorry. Sonny says sure he is and turns away.

Dimitri informs Kristen that he told Gwen that they needed to talk in person before the upcoming DiMera board vote so they can strategize. Kristen apologizes for interrupting their honeymoon. Kristen says she assumed Dimitri would fill Gwen in but didn’t know if he had a chance yet. Dimitri tells Gwen to go unpack as he and Kristen have a lot to discuss and the sooner he finishes, the sooner he can devote himself to Gwen. Gwen then heads upstairs. Kristen questions Dimitri about Leo. Dimitri says Leo’s presence had to be explained once Gwen found him at the hotel. Kristen thought Dimitri was just stringing Leo along to keep him quiet about the trust fund money, then questions why Dimitri invited Leo on his honeymoon, unless there is something real between them.

Rachel goes to Stefan’s room and greets him. Stefan calls her his favorite niece and tells her that he has a problem that only Rachel can help him with. Stefan explains that Gabi told him that they were playing 20 questions which he calls his favorite game. Stefan talks about Gabi trying to guess a secret and he loves secrets almost as much as the game. Stefan suggests they pick up where she and Gabi left off. Rachel asks if Gabi would be mad. Stefan says maybe a little but thinks it would be fun if they could guess the secret before Gabi. Rachel argues that’s not fun, but mean.

Gabi shows up at Elliot Roth’s room at the Salem Inn. Elliot asks if there’s something he can do for her. Gabi tells him that this visit is about what she can do for him. Elliot thinks back to Kristen telling him that Gabi was hellbent on sleeping her way to the top of DiMera and that she couldn’t know about Dimitri’s fortune. Elliot tells Gabi that it’s an intriguing offer but he’s in the middle of breakfast. Gabi says this won’t take long and wants to put her daughter in his school. Elliot says he’s not the person to speak to on that matter. Gabi asks for the name of who to talk to and she’ll call them now.

Stefan promises Rachel that playing the game with him would not be mean to Gabi because they are always trying to one up each other. Stefan adds that Gabi will probably try to recruit her to get back at him and it will be fun for everyone. Rachel asks if all married people are as weird as him and then agrees to play the game. Stefan tells her that it’s really important that nobody else knows they are playing since it’s about a secret. Stefan states that he has 19 questions to figure the secret out since Gabi asked one. Stefan goes over the secret being about someone in the house and asks if it’s Dimitri. Rachel admits that it is. Stefan asks if Kristen knows what the secret is which Rachel confirms. Stefan says the best secrets are about money and asks if Kristen and Dimitri are stealing money. Rachel shouts of course not so Stefan apologizes for letting his imagination get the best of him.

Dimitri claims to Kristen that he didn’t invite Leo and that he just showed up at their hotel room. Dimitri adds that he’s been gently stringing Leo along so that he doesn’t go chirping to Gwen and then he can get his prize. Kristen reminds Dimitri that it’s both of them getting the prize which will only happen if Dimitri convinces Elliot that his marriage is legit. Dimitri assures that he can handle him. Kristen warns that Elliot just called and was very eager to see them. Kristen asks how Dimitri is going to keep Gwen from finding out that he is the heir to a fortune when she has to meet the man who holds the purse strings first.

Chad tells Alex that Stephanie told him that she was with him when he got the news about Victor and he’s really sorry. Alex thanks him and says it’s been rough on everyone but he didn’t come to interrupt their breakfast but to ask a small favor. Alex brings up he and Stephanie having a meeting with Yuri soon about the Basic Black project and then asks Stephanie if she can handle it by herself. Chad reminds Alex that he meant it when he said he wasn’t going to try to keep them apart anymore. Alex says he appreciates that but that’s not why he’s asking. Stephanie asks if Alex has somewhere else to be. Alex admits he doesn’t. Chad points out that Alex is running Basic Black, so he should be there. Alex explains that he’s just not up for anything these days. Stephanie asks if it’s because of Victor. Alex states that the last time he saw Victor was when he moved out of the house after he gave Maggie the job that he thought he should have and he was petty about it. Alex says he was bitter and angry, so now he’s trying to find a way to live with that because he knows it hurt Victor even if he never showed it. Stephanie is sorry that he’s struggling with that and tells him not to worry about the meeting and take time for himself. Alex thanks her. Chad asks if Alex plans to just go back to his place and wallow in his guilt, questioning if that’s his solution.

Leo stops Sonny and tells him not to leave like that. Sonny tells Leo that he’s been on a plane for hours so he doesn’t have the time or energy to deal with Leo’s act. Leo questions Sonny thinking his sympathy is an act. Sonny argues that it’s like Leo has an ongoing act where nothing he says sounds sincere. Leo calls that unfair and says he got weepy over the news. Leo talks about his therapy sessions which Sonny mocks. Leo insists that he cried because he knew how sad this would make Sonny. Sonny points out that Leo didn’t reach out to him. Leo admits he’s bad about things like that and he’s sorry. Leo then says he knows Sonny is really upset with him because he helped Xander kidnap Bonnie. Leo wants to explain but Sonny says he already did. Sonny adds that he expects that kind of behavior from Xander but Leo kept talking about wanting to be a better person. Sonny argues that Leo just ends up hurting people, especially those that care about him, and it’s always about Leo, what he wants and needs and nobody else. Leo argues that he’s not a narcissist which Sonny laughs at. Leo insists he has a heart with feelings and emotions. Leo mentions volunteering at an animal shelter. Leo then asks if he only cared about himself, how he can explain how he’s fallen head over heels in love which Sonny questions. Leo tells Sonny that it’s quite serious as the guy is rich, gorgeous, and completely obsessed with him. Sonny mocks the idea as unbelievable. Leo claims his guy’s name is Matthew Perry. Sonny tells Leo to keep dreaming. Leo questions Sonny not believing him which he confirms. Leo decides he will prove it to Sonny by showing him a picture and asks what he has to say then.

Dimitri tells Kristen that he’s sure there’s a way to satisfy the lawyer without getting Gwen involved. Kristen wishes him luck with that since Elliot called this morning and specifically mentioned Gwen. Kristen decides she will leave Dimitri to figure out how to come clean with Gwen as she then exits the room.

Elliot tells Gabi that she’ll have to go through the school application process like everyone else. Gabi asks if things would be different if she had a son. Elliot responds that the school is open to all genders but Gabi reveals that the school is an all girls school, so she tells him that he can drop the façade and tell her who he really is.

Stefan asks Rachel if the secret has something to do with Dimitri and his new wife Gwen. Rachel says that Gwen doesn’t know anything about it. Stefan asks if that means Dimitri is having a play date with someone he should not be having a play date with. Rachel asks if sleepovers count. Stefan says they definitely do and asks if Dimitri is having a sleepover. Rachel says yes so Stefan asks who it was with but Rachel points out that’s not a yes or no question. Rachel tells Stefan that he has 9 questions left as Kristen walks in and questions what he has 9 left about. Stefan explains that they were just playing a fun game of 20 questions. Kristen asks Rachel what kind of questions she was being asked. Stefan says she can’t tell her because it would ruin the surprise which Rachel agrees with. Kristen sends Rachel to the kitchen to have cookies. Kristen guesses Stefan will have to live with the suspense and exits the room. Stefan hopes that Gabi is having better luck than him.

Gabi questions how the real headmaster of Martin Prep would feel to find out someone is impersonating him. Elliot then breaks down and admits he’s not the headmaster and that he’s an attorney who has come to Salem to make sure the terms of the Von Leuschner codicil are met. Gabi questions what the hell that is.

Leo asks Sonny if he’s proven his point. Sonny looks at the photo that Leo showed him which is just of a body without a face. Sonny asks why he’s still standing here. Leo tries to say they are friends. Sonny brings up Justin being a wreck when Bonnie was kidnapped and how Bonnie was a wreck as well and that’s his family. Sonny declares that Leo didn’t give a damn and betrayed their friendship and betrayed him. Sonny says that comes with a cost and walks away.

Gwen rejoins Dimitri in the living room and asks if it didn’t go well with Kristen. Dimitri claims it went fine but Gwen senses something is not right and asks what is troubling him. Gwen tells him that whatever it is, they can work it out together.

Alex tells Chad that he wasn’t planning on wallowing. Stephanie asks if that was really called for when Alex is in mourning. Chad explains that he’s not trying to be insensitive but he knows what it’s like to want to isolate and shut off from the world when grieving. Chad encourages Alex to move through it and points out that Alex said he hasn’t been home so he tells Alex that now is the time to go home and work things out with Maggie. Chad says burying the hatchet with Maggie will make amends to Victor and honor his memory. Alex agrees that Chad is right and thanks him. Alex decides he will head over there right now. Chad wishes Alex luck as he exits. Stephanie then kisses Chad and calls him a good man, noting that was exactly what Alex needed; a friend. Chad doesn’t think he’d call them friends as it’s a little too soon for that.

Leo goes to his room at the Salem Inn, complaining that if only Sonny could see Dimitri. Leo remarks that Dimitri is real and way hotter than Sonny and Alex.

Alex goes to the Kiriakis Mansion. Sonny then arrives and they hug. Sonny asks what Alex is doing there since Justin told him he moved out. Alex explains that he came to see Maggie but she’s taking a nap so he decided to wait around. Sonny is sure that Maggie will be thrilled to see him, but Alex is not so sure about that.

Dimitri starts to tell Gwen something but gets interrupted by a text from Leo. Dimitri tells Gwen that he’s sorry as he needs to take care of this and steps away to read the message from Leo, which states that he almost told someone about them but he didn’t because he knows how important it is to keep it hush hush and reminds Dimitri to fake it ’til you make it. Gwen asks if everything is alright. Dimitri responds that everything is fine and claims the text was from Kristen and they have to cut a deal with another shareholder. Gwen remarks that dealing with the DiMera family is like a minefield. Dimitri says he needs to go run an errand and clear his head a bit. Gwen tells Dimitri that he’s got this. Dimitri thanks her and kisses her then says he will see her soon. Gwen remarks that she can’t wait to hear how he figures this out. Dimitri then exits the mansion.

Gabi returns to Stefan in their room. Stefan explains that he and Rachel’s game got interrupted by Kristen but they were so close. Gabi tells him to forget all about that because she knows the secret.

Alex explains to Sonny that he came to try and make things right with Maggie. Sonny encourages that Maggie is going to need everyone’s help to get through this, so he’s really glad that Alex will be part of it. Alex and Sonny then find an old photo album of Victor and look through it.

Chad and Stephanie have breakfast as Stephanie says she hopes that Alex takes Chad’s advice, noting that it was caring and thoughtful. Stephanie adds that she’s really proud of Chad for extending himself to Alex like that. Chad remarks that it’s a good thing he didn’t listen to Kristen then, because she said he was making a huge mistake and that he shouldn’t trust Alex with Stephanie no matter what. Stephanie calls that cynical and no surprise coming from Kristen. Stephanie jokes that sometimes he thinks the DiMeras don’t know how to be happy unless they are stirring up drama which Chad agrees with.

Dimitri goes to Leo’s hotel room and tells him that they have a problem. Dimitri worries that if he can’t figure everything out fast, it’s all over.

Stefan asks Gabi if Elliot just came clean. Gabi explains that his incentive to keep quiet isn’t as strong as Kristen’s because he’s only here for a job. Gabi reveals that there’s a boatload of money out there for Dimitri and all he has to do is prove that his marriage to Gwen is real. Stefan feels this has Kristen all over it, so maybe Dimitri is cutting her a share or he has to. Gabi suggests Kristen is the one who knows who Dimitri is having sleepovers with. Stefan jokes that his nephew has a side piece. Gabi comments that all they have to do is find out what her name is and then they are in the driver’s seat..

Dimitri tells Leo how close he was to telling Gwen everything. Leo assures that Gwen would not take it well if she finds out that he’s been lying to her from the very beginning along with him. Dimitri states that Leo’s text earlier to fake it until you make it gave him an idea. Dimitri says his terms says he has to have a wife but it doesn’t have to be Gwen. Dimitri suggests finding someone to pose as Gwen and if he can pull this off, Elliot will leave satisfied, he’ll get the money, and Gwen will be none the wiser. Leo asks who he has in mind to impersonate Gwen, reminding him that he has to sell it to Elliot and it has to be someone he knows he can trust or else he could be blackmailed. Leo then suggest himself.

Gwen drops a glass that smashes on the floor. Kristen walks in and questions her being upset. Gwen asks why she wouldn’t be upset. Kristen then assumes that Dimitri told her everything. Gwen questions what she’s talking about.

Belle calls Shawn from Marlena’s office and leaves a message, asking him to call her back and says they don’t have to talk about anything, she just wants to hear his voice to know he’s okay. Belle complains to Marlena that Shawn isn’t answering and she’s tried calling, texting, and tracking his phone. Belle adds that she doesn’t know where he is.

Shawn sits in his office at the police station and sees 4 missed calls from Belle as well as 7 messages. Shawn declares that he’s sorry but he has nothing to say to Belle or anyone anymore as he picks up his gun.

Jada goes home and is surprised to see her place is cleaned. Rafe then comes out from the bathroom and says he was just finishing up. Jada is impressed as Rafe jokes that he can’t spend all his time lying around and watching Body and Soul.

Steve and Abe sit at home watching Body and Soul where they comment on one of the character’s sons being back from the dead…

Philip asks Chloe if this means she forgives him. Chloe states that she’s furious at him for what he did, but she’s also really glad that he’s alive. Philip says he is too, especially now that he’s back home in Salem. Philip knows Kate think it’s a mistake for him to be here as she told him not to come to his dad’s funeral, but he can’t spend the rest of his life hiding. Chloe asks what he’s going to do. Philip declares that he will take responsibility for what he did and let the chips fall where they may. Philip then goes to leave but comes face to face with Brady when he opens the door. Philip says it’s good to see him while Brady is in shock and hugs Philip, questioning him being alive.

Belle complains to Marlena that this is all her fault for trying to get Brady to take Shawn to AA and says she doesn’t know what she was thinking. Marlena understands she was concerned and was trying to be supportive. Belle states that she needs Marlena to tell her what Shawn told her in their sessions. Marlena argues that she can’t do that. Belle points out that he’s not her patient anymore. Marlena says she can’t break their confidentiality. Belle argues that if Shawn is in danger, she has legal duty to say so. Belle asks if Shawn is a danger to himself. Marlena says she can’t say for certain but admits that after seeing him today, she is concerned. Belle begs Marlena to tell her what Shawn told her so that she can help him. Marlena then agrees to do so.

Shawn holds his gun in his office until there’s a knock at the door, so he puts it away. Paulina enters and says she hopes she didn’t come at a bad time. Paulina adds that she can come back later if he’s too busy. Shawn says it’s fine and asks what he can do for her. Paulina hopes that he can understand that even though Clint Rawlings just put him in the chair, she’s here to take him out. Paulina then announces she is giving Rafe his job back.

Rafe and Jada drink margaritas at home. Rafe talks about how he used to run a nightclub and jokes about what Jada doesn’t know about him as they kiss.

Brady can’t believe Philip is alive and he’s okay. Philip says he’s glad to be home and that he missed all of them. Brady tells Chloe that they were right the whole time as obviously Kristen had to be behind it all and gone after Philip to get to him. Brady asks where Philip has been and if Kristen had locked him in a dungeon. Brady says this means they can appeal the custody case and he needs to call Belle. Brady goes on about how the judge will realize that Kristen is a nutcase and everything will be fine. Chloe stops Brady and tells him that Kristen didn’t do it. Brady argues that she did and she framed him for murder. Philip then reveals that he framed him. Brady asks what he’s talking about. Chloe suggests this isn’t the best time but Brady wants to hear it. Philip admits he was insanely jealous of them and thought they were having an affair behind his back, so he came up with a plan to make him pay. Philip adds that he’s deeply ashamed of all of it. Brady demands to know the plan. Philip explains that Brady was on the phone outside the Pub and he came up behind him, knocked him out, and dragged him to the park where he stole his credit card and charged a bunch of shots to it to make it look like Brady drank them by filling a syringe with alcohol and injecting it to Brady’s blood stream. Philip adds that he sent threatening text messages from Brady’s phone to his own, then drove Brady to the park and dropped his watch there to be found later. Philip continues that he dragged Brady to the river bank, where he took out a knife and cut himself, then smeared his blood all over them, tossed his prosthetic leg in to the water and disappeared. Philip declares that he framed Brady, not Kristen. Philip knows how wrong it was but back then he was out of his mind and lost his grip on reality as he felt humiliated and betrayed. Philip says he could only focus on punishing Chloe and Brady for making a fool of him. Philip declares that he is sorry for all of it and will be sorry for the rest of his life. Philip knows it’s unfair as he asks if Brady can forgive him. Brady responds by punching Philip.

Steve and Abe watch Body and Soul until Abe sees a commercial for a memory supplement which Steve worries might be a sensitive subject for Abe. Abe informs him that Kayla told him that the supplement isn’t for amnesia. Steve says he’s sorry as he knows how frustrated Abe is. Abe doesn’t know why nothing comes back to him. Abe says he doesn’t remember Paulina or anything about their life together.

Shawn tells Paulina that he’s glad Rawlings is gone and brings up that Rawlings ordered him to arrest Paulina after the press conference but he refused. Paulina says she appreciates that and calls Shawn a valued member of the force, which is why she wants him to stay on as a detective. Shawn questions stepping down immediately. Paulina knows it must be disappointing for him, but she thinks it’s the right call to reinstate Rafe.

Rafe and Jada kiss until she jokingly apologizes in advance for him making the bed all nice when they’re about to mess it all up as they continue kissing. After they finish, they joke about making the bed being a waste of time. Jada suggests they take a break by getting a burger and a beer at the Pub. Rafe agrees but says first they can make the bed a little messier as they continue kissing.

Steve and Abe’s viewing of Body and Soul gets interrupted by the announcement of Paulina being the new Mayor. Abe hopes Paulina can undo the damage that Clint Rawlings did and then once he’s in the rearview mirror, he wouldn’t be surprised by anything Paulina can do. Steve comments that it sounds like Abe has a lot of faith in his wife, as she does in him. Steve assures Abe that Paulina really loves him. Abe confirms he can see that in everything she does, so it kills him that he doesn’t remember how much he loves her. Steve knows Abe came to stay because he needed space from Paulina, but he thinks maybe it’s time that they got close again.

Shawn agrees with Paulina that Rafe should be running the police department. Paulina is surprised and appreciates how classy he’s being about this. Paulina decides she’s going to go find Rafe to tell him that Shawn graciously agreed to step down and that he fully supports Rafe’s return. Paulina gets up but stops to ask if Shawn is sure he’s okay. Shawn claims he’s fine. Paulina notes he seemed a bit unsettled. Shawn repeats that he’s fine and that he thinks Paulina will make a great mayor. Paulina thanks him and tells him to take care as she exits the office.

Belle talks to Marlena about how Shawn came to her for therapy voluntarily and she thought he was making real progress. Marlena says he was but he’s decided that it won’t help anymore because it won’t help Bo or bring Victor back. Belle worries that Shawn is giving up. Marlena feels he’s hitting rock bottom which everyone has to do before deciding to make things right. Belle asks what if he doesn’t decide to do that and keeps spiraling. Marlena states that he’s not in a position to do much as he’s drinking a lot and is full of guilt and grief. Belle brings up that the last time Shawn and Victor talked, Victor was very hard on him with no understanding or forgiveness. Marlena understands that’s why Shawn can’t forgive himself and why he’s in so much pain. Belle cries that she’s terrified of what Shawn might do to get rid of that pain.

Shawn looks at his police commissioner name plate and then tosses it in the trash. Shawn then pulls his gun back out of the drawer.

Brady tells Philip that he doesn’t forgive him and yells at him to get up so he can hit him again. Chloe tells him no. Brady shouts that Philip that he went to jail and that Philip could’ve killed him by injecting alcohol in to his veins. Chloe argues that Philip wasn’t in his right mind. Brady questions where Philip has been. Philip informs him that he was in a mental institution in Europe and he’s better now, but he still feels horrible about what he did and he’s committed to make amends. Philip declares that he knows it won’t be easy, but he has to find a way to make this right or he can’t go on. Brady pulls out his phone and announces that he’s calling the police because this bastard is going to jail. Chloe takes his phone and says Brady can’t call the police. Brady argues that Philip is guilty of 12 crimes, so he needs to be arrested. Chloe repeats that he was mentally ill. Brady says he can go to Bayview though as long as he’s locked up somewhere. Chloe tells Brady to have some compassion since Philip just lost his father and it’s the only reason he came back. Brady calls Philip a vindictive and psychotic coward. Brady adds that Victor would be proud. Philip then reveals that Victor did know as he and Kate are the ones who sent him to Europe because they knew he needed help. Brady mocks that his mom and dad fixed it for him. Brady shouts about his grandfather being okay with him going to jail for a crime he didn’t commit. Philip explains that Victor and Kate wanted to help them both which is why they signed the documents, declaring him legally dead, since without a body Melinda had no choice but to drop the charges against Brady. Brady brings up the agony that Chloe went through, not knowing if Philip was dead or alive, and the guilt he felt thinking Kristen was behind it. Brady adds that he hired Steve to investigate and then realizes that’s why Kate didn’t want him to, because she knew he was alive. Chloe argues that Kate was just trying to protect her son. Brady declares that Philip has to go down and pay for what he did to everyone as he takes his phone back from Chloe. Chloe tells Brady to stop and that Victor didn’t want his son to go to prison. Brady shouts that Victor won’t know now. Chloe argues that she knows Brady loved Victor and Victor wanted peace in his family. Chloe asks Brady to just let Philip try to make things right.

Abe complains that Steve is pressuring him about Paulina. Steve apologizes as he didn’t mean to do that. Steve then asks if Abe is attracted to Paulina. Abe admits she’s intelligent, strong, and beautiful but that doesn’t mean he wants to share a bed with her. Steve says nobody said that and he’s getting ahead of himself. Steve suggests instead of thinking about sleeping his wife, he should think about going back to the beginning and starting over again.

Rafe and Jada eat together at the Brady Pub. Jada comments on what they have going being great. Paulina then enters and tells Rafe that she’s sorry to interrupt but she’s glad she found him. Rafe asks what he can do for Salem’s new mayor. Paulina responds that he can go back to being police commissioner.

Belle wishes Shawn would talk to her or Marlena instead of pushing them away and beating himself up. Belle decides to go to the police station for help since they care about Shawn. Shawn then enters Marlena’s office. Belle tells him that they had been so worried about him. Shawn responds that he doesn’t want anyone else to worry about him anymore. Shawn pulls out his gun and says he needs Belle to take it away from him because he’s not in a good place right now as he places the gun down. Marlena asks if Shawn was thinking of hurting himself. Shawn admits he doesn’t know but he knows he needs help. Marlena tells him it’s alright as there is no shame in asking for help. Belle promises they will help him.

Chloe begs Brady not to call the police, arguing that the Kiriakis family is in mourning. Chloe tells Brady to think about Maggie and asks if he will have Philip arrested. Brady decides he doesn’t know and he’ll have to think about it as he storms out of the apartment. Philip thanks Chloe. Chloe feels Brady is just in shock and in time, he will realize that Philip is not responsible for what he did while he was sick. Philip worries that now that he’s out, the truth is going to come out and he’s going to need a lawyer. Chloe offers to call Belle but Philip points out that Belle is Brady’s lawyer and sister. Chloe argues that she is also his friend.

Marlena wants to put Shawn on a 24 hour hold to assess him and figure out the next step. Belle admits she’d feel a lot better if he agrees to that. Shawn agrees to whatever Marlena thinks is best. Marlena says they can talk for awhile. Belle assures they are in this together and will get through it. Shawn apologizes to Belle for letting her down. Belle says he didn’t and that she’s so proud of him coming to ask for help. Belle assures that everything will be okay as she kisses him. Belle then exits the office.

Rafe reminds Paulina that Shawn was just appointed commissioner. Paulina reveals that she just came from telling Shawn he’s out and he will stay on as a detective. Paulina asks if Rafe will accept the job. Rafe and Jada remind Paulina about the policy preventing them from dating. Paulina declares that as mayor, she will have no problem with colleagues dating as long as it doesn’t interfere with their work. Paulina adds that she will tell the city council as well. Paulina feels they need to start handling relationships on a case by case basis. Rafe says that’s great but he will hold off on making a decision until the policy is amended. Paulina questions if Rafe doesn’t want his job back. Rafe assures that he loves being a cop and police commissioner but he’s really enjoying spending time with Jada. Paulina acknowledges that and guesses she needs to hurry and get the policy changed because they need Rafe back in charge.

Abe appreciates Steve trying to help, but he doesn’t think he can since he has no idea what this is like. Steve responds that he actually does. Abe asks if he had amnesia. Steve confirms he did, courtesy of the DiMeras. Steve tells Abe that the short version is that a little more than 15 years ago, his brother Jack brought him back to town when Kayla thought he was dead, so she was ecstatic until finding out that he had no memory of her or their life together. Steve says his reaction was like Abe’s, questioning how he could be Kayla’s husband when he had no idea who she was but Kayla wouldn’t give up and eventually, something in his heart let him know that Kayla was his destiny, so he did his damndest to get those memories back and feel that love again and the rest is history. Abe asks if he thinks that could happen for him. Steve thinks it’s possible if he starts spending time with Paulina again. Steve says he doesn’t have to move back in right away but encourages taking her to dinner and talking to her. Steve adds that maybe he’ll remember or maybe he won’t, but he bets that Abe will fall in love with his wife all over again.

Jada thinks Rafe should take the police commissioner job. Rafe points out they’d have to stop seeing each other. Jada says that’s just until the policy changes. Jada feels Paulina is right that the city needs Rafe in charge and he loves that job. Rafe is not sure he wants to go back to the police department, but he is sure that he’s falling in love with Jada.

Paulina goes to Steve’s to let Abe know that she asked Rafe to take his job back and he’s considering it. Abe says that’s great and thanks her for letting him know. Paulina then tells Abe to have a good night and goes to leave but Abe stops her. Abe asks if Paulina would like to go on a date with him if she’s not too busy with her job. Paulina responds that she thinks she can make some time.

Shawn apologizes to Marlena for his behavior earlier. Marlena says he doesn’t have to apologize. Shawn understands she was just trying to help him, so speaking to her like he did and walking out was wrong. Shawn adds that quitting therapy was a big mistake, so he’s ready to get started again if she is. Marlena tells Shawn that he will be her patient and she will do everything she can to help him. Marlena then reminds Shawn that he is her family and she loves him beyond words. Shawn says he loves her too as they hug.

Belle goes to see Chloe. She stops outside the door and texts Shawn that she loves him and always will. Belle then knocks on the door. Chloe answers and thanks her for coming. Belle says she got her message and asks what’s going on. Chloe clarifies that needing a lawyer is not for her or Xander. Chloe then tells Belle to see for herself as she opens the door, revealing Philip. Belle is shocked as she rushes up to hug Philip. Belle can’t believe he’s alive and says she’s so happy to see him. Philip responds that he hopes she still feels that way after she hears what he’s done.

Brady goes to the police commissioner’s office, looking for Shawn but finds it’s empty. Brady then leaves a note on the desk to call him and storms back out.

Brady meets Belle in the town square. Belle thanks him for agreeing to do this. Brady clarifies that he didn’t agree to do anything but to meet with her and he thinks they need to talk first but Belle says she doesn’t have time to talk because Shawn is falling apart in front of her. Belle talks about Shawn drinking himself sick last night. Shawn then arrives and questions what Brady is doing there since he thought they were having lunch. Belle explains that Brady is on his way to an AA meeting and offered to take Shawn with him. Shawn refuses but Belle tells him that he has to go.

At the Kiriakis Mansion, Xander asks what Sarah wanted to tell him. Sarah knows he came to see Maggie and she hates to interrupt, but Maggie made her see that she needs to be honest with him about her and Rex.

Rex surprises Kate at the Pub. Kate hugs him and admits that when Roman said her son was home, she was afraid it might be Philip.

Chloe answers her door at home and is shocked to see Philip. Chloe says this can’t be real but Philip assures that he’s alive and he’s come back to her. Chloe then faints in to Philip’s arms.

Kayla goes to Marlena’s office and says she wanted to see how she’s doing. Marlena says she’s fine but assumes Roman told her that they’ve decided the best way to help Eric is to accept Sloan in to the family. Marlena calls it her personal idea of Hell but notes that she volunteered to give the baby shower. Kayla then realizes that Marlena has been at Bayview and hasn’t talked to Roman, so she doesn’t know which Marlena then questions.

Rex doesn’t understand why Kate thought Philip was coming back. Kate explains that she had to call him about Victor. Rex realizes that Philip wants to be there for the funeral. Kate talks about Philip and Victor having such a complicated relationship but his father died and he never got to say goodbye, so he said he had to come home. Kate adds that she begged him not to until he agreed but she doesn’t know if she got through to him. Roman adds that if Philip does come home, everyone will know that he’s alive. Rex worries about Brady seeing him. Roman points out that if Brady doesn’t kill Philip, he’ll end up in prison, so they hope that Kate got through to him.

Philip sits Chloe down on her couch and apologizes for scaring her, explaining that he wanted to see her alone before whatever happens. Chloe doesn’t understand how he’s alive and questions where he’s been this whole time. Chloe asks if he’s hurt and about his leg. Philip says he’s good as new. Chloe asks if Philip was held hostage and hurt. Philip reveals that was one of a lot of lies. Chloe asks for the truth. Philip reveals that he’s been in Europe in a mental institution because he was out of his mind with jealousy. Philip states that back then, he felt if he couldn’t have her, he had to make sure Brady couldn’t, so he faked his death and framed Brady for his murder.

Shawn mocks Belle giving him a direct order to go to AA. Shawn questions Belle saying she would be by his side. Belle argues that she was by his side, watching him get sick all night and not knowing if she needed to call an ambulance. Belle cries that it’s killing her watching Shawn do this to himself as she loves him and doesn’t want to lose him. Shawn warns her that the only way she’s going to lose him is by trying to run his life. Shawn insists that he does not need AA and remarks that those meetings haven’t done Brady any good since his life is a hot mess. Shawn warns Belle not to send Maggie after him because he’s done with all this. Shawn then storms off as Brady holds Belle back and tells her to let him go.

Xander asks Sarah what about her and Rex. Sarah starts to respond but gets cramps. Xander asks if she thinks she might be in labor.

Kayla informs Marlena about Sloan losing the baby and apologizes as she thought she knew. Marlena feels she has to find Eric but Kayla asks her to give that a second since Sloan is taking tests and Eric is with her as she needs him. Marlena agrees to wait a while but questions how much Eric has to go through as Kayla hugs her. Shawn then arrives and asks to talk to Marlena.

Belle apologizes to Brady and says that Shawn has just been a wreck since Victor’s death. Brady remarks that when a drunk wants a drink, there’s always an excuse. Belle asks Brady not to call Shawn that but Brady says that’s what he is right now and that Shawn doesn’t need anyone feeling sorry for himself because he’s taking care of that himself. Brady explains that it’s what Maggie has told him over the years and he’s been where Shawn is. Brady feels there’s nothing Belle can do but be strong for herself. Belle hates that he’s right. Belle brings up how Brady is telling her that she can’t will Shawn in to doing what she wants, just like she was telling Brady the same about Chloe. Brady guesses they are in the same boat as he thinks Chloe marrying Xander is as self-destructive as Shawn’s drinking. Brady says she can’t talk to Shawn and he can’t talk to Chloe. Brady adds that he told Chloe that Xander was proposing because he can’t have Sarah and that she knows it. Brady complains that Chloe didn’t care and that she basically said she’s marrying Xander because she can’t have him because of Rachel and she can’t have Philip because he’s dead. Belle points out that they don’t know that for sure.

Chloe questions what Philip had done. Philip says he’s so sorry. Chloe argues that doesn’t quite catch it because he put them through Hell and let them believe he was dead. Chloe talks about how they mourned him and were sick for grief. Chloe goes over Brady being arrested, what Philip did to him, and what Brady’s life was like having everyone think he murdered Philip. Philip responds that he knows what he did and that there were days he thought he’d rather die than face what he had done to the people he loves. Philip mentions Kate and Victor sending him away, so Chloe stops and questions them knowing he was alive while letting them all think that he was dead. Chloe points out that Victor let his grandson go to jail while Philip notes that Victor made sure Brady was released. Chloe can’t believe this and tells Philip to stay away from her. Chloe asks how she knows he’s not still crazy and that they just let him out because he father died. Philip reveals they let him out awhile ago, so Chloe questions that he’s been free and still let them think he was dead. Philip argues that he couldn’t come home. Chloe complains that Philip never pays for what he’s done. Philip admits he’s had his mom and dad for his entire life, but now no matter the price, he had to come home for his dad and to see Chloe.

Kate informs Roman and Rex that she had a conversation with Chloe, who told her that Rex and Sarah are together again. Kate talks about Rex not saying a word to them about it. Roman suggests with their history, Rex wanted to wait and see if the relationship got more serious before saying anything. Rex confirms it has gotten more serious and that he was about to inform them that he and Sarah are getting married.

Sarah tells Xander that she is not in labor, reminding him that she is a doctor and it’s her body. Sarah insists that she’s not in labor but the cramps continue, so she admits maybe she is in labor but that it’s too soon. Xander decides to take her to the hospital.

Shawn apologizes as the door was unlocked. Kayla says she was just leaving anyway and adds that she’s sorry to hear about Victor as she can’t imagine a world without him. Kayla tells Marlena that she will let her know when Sloan’s tests are done as she exits. Marlena reminds Shawn that their appointment was for tomorrow but Shawn reveals that he’s here to cancel. Marlena points out that he could’ve called unless he wanted to talk to her in person. Shawn clarifies that he wanted to tell her in person that he’s quitting therapy for good.

Xander has Sarah set up in a hospital room and asks about her pain. Sarah admits it’s much better. Kayla enters and asks what she can do for her as she was surprised to see her name. Sarah explains that she was in town to visit Maggie. Kayla mentions that she planned to see her as well and tells Xander that she’s sorry about his uncle. Kayla notes that Sarah’s pulse is steady and adds that she didn’t know Sarah was pregnant, so she congratulates them. Xander clarifies that he’s not the father and it’s actually Rex’s. Kayla asks about Sarah’s contractions. Sarah says they haven’t been regular and have been very painful and close together but she thinks they are subsiding. Kayla notes Sarah’s blood pressure being a little elevated. Kayla assures they will take good care of her and asks Sarah how many weeks along she is. Sarah then fakes a pain to get Kayla to ask Xander to leave the room. After Xander leaves, Sarah says the pain is gone, so Kayla asks her again how many weeks pregnant she is.

Brady knows Belle cares about Philip, but points out that it’s been two years so he thinks Philip would’ve shown up by now if he was alive. Belle agrees and says it was weird when John called to tell her about Victor, she kept thinking about how hard it would be on Shawn, Brady, and Philip, so she realized she never really accepted that Philip is gone and she doesn’t know if she ever will.

Philip tells Chloe that when he got out of the bin, he wasn’t a threat anymore and wouldn’t hurt anyone but he also wasn’t really alive as it started to sink in what he had done. Philip feels he lost his father before he died because he stopped being his son and somewhere along the line, he stopped being the Philip who loved Chloe and became the Philip who wanted to own her. Philip states that he’ll never be able to prove to Victor that Philip is alive again but he’d like the chance to prove to Chloe. Philip clarifies that he’s not going to try to win her back, but he wants her to know that the Philip who got to know a goth girl and discovered the coolest person he’s ever met, is back.

Kate questions Rex saying that he and Sarah are getting married. Rex confirms that he proposed to Sarah and she told him yes last night over the phone which Kate mocks as being romantic. Rex explains that he got an early flight to surprise Sarah and pick up her favorite scone on the way to the Kiriakis Mansion. Roman congratulates Rex. Kate stops Rex and questions if he’s sure he’s not rushing this marriage. Rex responds that he is rushing it and asks why he wouldn’t since Sarah is pregnant with his kid. Rex then exits the Pub, leaving Kate and Roman shocked.

Xander returns to Sarah’s hospital room. Sarah informs him that she’s not in labor and it was just Braxton-Hicks which Kayla confirms. Xander asks how they can be sure the cramps won’t start up again. Kayla says she can’t be sure but if it starts again, she can come back. Kayla notes wanting to get Sarah some fluids because she’s a little dehydrated but after that, she can go home. Sarah thanks Kayla as she exits the room. Sarah then thanks Xander for bringing her since Kayla was very reassuring. Xander feels she has enough to worry about. Xander reminds Sarah that she said earlier that she had something to tell him about her and Rex.

Roman tells Kate that they are going to be grandparents again after all. Kate wonders when Sarah is due. Roman talks about Rex not giving them time to ask as he was out the door. Roman goes over how Eric lost a baby and now Rex is telling them that Sarah is pregnant. Roman can’t believe it. Kate says she can’t either and she just hopes that they aren’t in for any more surprises…

Chloe tells Philip that she’s been thinking about him a lot lately and she is glad that he’s alive, but informs him that she is engaged. Philip is not surprised since she and Brady always seemed to find their way back to each other. Chloe then reveals that she’s not engaged to Brady but to his cousin, Xander.

Sarah tells Xander that she doesn’t know how to say this but Rex rushes in and says he heard Sarah was in the hospital, so he asks if everything is okay. Sarah confirms it was just Braxton-Hicks and they are fine. Rex then questions what Xander is doing there. Sarah explains that Xander came to visit Maggie when the contractions started, so he took her to the hospital. Rex thanks Xander. Rex then talks to the baby and remarks that he and Sarah are old fashioned so they have to get married before the baby appears, which shocks Xander.

Kate tells Roman that she’s sorry as this is all too crazy. Kate says she talks to Rex once or twice a week and he barely even mentioned Sarah, much less that she’s pregnant with his child. Roman suggests that Rex might have thought she would interfere. Kate acknowledges that Rex has been pining for Sarah for ages while Roman points out that Rex cheated on her. Kate says they got past it, they’re both doctors, compatible, and mature so it looks good on paper. Roman asks what she is worried about then. Kate has no doubt that Rex is head over heels in love with Sarah, but she has great doubts about that feeling being reciprocated by Sarah.

Xander questions Sarah marrying Rex. Sarah says that’s what she was trying to tell him as she didn’t want him to find out from someone else. Xander says it’s great and shakes Rex’s hand as he congratulates him. Xander relates the feeling to when Chloe accepted his proposal last night, which surprises them as Rex remarks that he didn’t know Chloe lost her senses. Sarah tells Xander that she and Rex are very happy for he and Chloe. Xander says they are very happy for Sarah and Rex too. Xander comments on them all getting married and jokes that they won’t have a double wedding. Rex tells Xander that he can take it from here. Sarah thanks Xander for being there for her. Xander says he’s just glad all is well with her and the baby as he then exits the room. Rex calls Xander a jerk.

Marlena thinks Shawn leaving therapy is not a good idea right now since he’s made so much progress. Shawn asks why the first thing he did after finding out about Victor was get drunk out of his mind. Marlena says that tells her that he should continue therapy. Xander feels tired about talking about his life and how the bad things keep winning out. Marlena is not sure that’s true. Shawn complains that Belle thinks this is fixable too and she wants Brady to take him to AA, but he’s not an alcoholic. Marlena states that you don’t have to be an alcoholic to need help. Shawn argues that this is not fixable as he put his father in a coma and his grandfather in a grave. Shawn tells Marlena that she can’t fix this and walks out of her office.

Belle checks her phone and says there’s nothing from Shawn, so she just hopes he went to work. Brady feels in his state, maybe it’s best that he didn’t. Belle worries about Shawn being angry with her. Brady comments on treating the people they love the worst. Belle encourages Brady that Chloe does love him. Brady acknowledges that he hurt Chloe badly and he has no right to keep her away from Xander. Belle suggests Brady suck it up, apologize, and tell Chloe that he’s happy for her and Xander. Belle says that what she did eventually. Belle knows it’s hard but says when it all goes south, Chloe will need her friends. Brady agrees, so Belle tells him that he knows what he needs to do.

Philip questions Chloe being engaged to Xander. Chloe explains that they originally just decided to get an apartment together, but then they got close. Philip says it’s hard to process after everything Xander did to her. Chloe says he’s not the same person now and none of them are. Philip states that he just wants her to be happy, no matter who it’s with. Philip decides he should go. Chloe stops him and hugs him as she cries.

Belle goes to see Marlena in her office and asks if she’s okay. Marlena informs her that she just let Eric and reveals that Sloan lost the baby. Belle is shocked and asks if she should go see Eric. Marlena suggests giving him some time and asks how she is. Belle admits she’s not good and really worried about Shawn. Belle says she was trying to get through to him but thinks she pushed him too far, so she’s really worried about what he might do.

Shawn goes to his office at the police station and pulls out his gun.

Rex asks if Sarah is really okay. Sarah thinks it was just the stress of Maggie ripping in to her for not telling Xander about the baby and then when Xander showed up, she was on the verge of telling him but then the pains started. Sarah says she was on the verge of telling him again when Rex walked in, but then she just figured that if fate interrupted her twice, she should just stick with the original story. Sarah states that she agreed to marry Rex and calls it the perfect cover story for Xander. Rex asks if she’s sure that she wants to go through with this. Sarah says only if he does. Rex confirms he does and then presents her with a ring. Sarah tells him that he has no idea what it means to her that he’s willing to do this. Sarah admits that Xander being so concerned about her and the baby earlier made it easy to forget that he’s controlling, dangerous, and someone she doesn’t want anywhere near the baby. Sarah thanks Rex for helping her make sure that Xander never knows he’s the father of the child. Rex then puts the ring on Sarah’s finger.

Philip asks Chloe if this means she forgives him. Chloe states that she’s furious at him for what he did, but she’s also really glad that he’s alive. Philip says he is too, especially now that he’s back home in Salem. Philip knows Kate think it’s a mistake for him to be here as she told him not to come to his dad’s funeral, but he can’t spend the rest of his life hiding. Chloe asks what he’s going to do. Philip declares that he will take responsibility for what he did and let the chips fall where they may. Philip then goes to leave but comes face to face with Brady when he opens the door.

Sarah joins Maggie in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion. Sarah hugs Maggie as she asks how she is doing. Maggie mentions that people sending cards has helped as she reads one from Victor’s barber that says Victor kept them laughing for 30 years. Sarah agrees that Victor was funny. Maggie adds that a lot of people have said nice things. Sarah credits Maggie for that and calls her the best thing to ever happen to Victor. Sarah feels that people felt if Maggie saw the good in Victor, it must be there. Maggie brings up that Xander said she was the one thing he and Victor had in common and that she brought them back together for a while. Maggie mentions that Xander plans to come by later and she knows Sarah doesn’t want to see him. Sarah then reveals that she actually already did which surprises Maggie.

Chloe comes home to Xander at their apartment. Xander informs her that he is cooking their engagement lunch. Chloe says before they eat, there is something she needs to tell him. Xander feels it’s something pretty serious. Chloe responds that it could change their whole future.

Eric apologizes on the phone to Roman for jumping all over him about the baby shower as Nicole listens in behind him. Roman says it seems that he called about it at the worst possible time. Eric says he will tell Sloan that they wanted to do it as it will mean a lot to her. Roman asks if there’s anything he can do for them. Eric says if he thinks of anything, he’ll let him know but he has to go be with Sloan. Roman tells him to tell Sloan how sorry that he and Marlena are which Eric agrees to do. Nicole comments to herself that it sounds like Sloan lost her baby.

Sloan tells Melinda that she had so many plans for her and Eric and their baby, but now it’s just going to be her and Eric. Sloan feels they have to start over with a clean slate, no secrets, so she’ made up her mind that she’s going to tell Eric that he is the father of Nicole’s baby. Melinda guesses it didn’t register the first time so she repeats that telling Eric that he’s the father of Nicole’s child is a terrible idea.

Maggie didn’t know Sarah saw Xander and asks how that happened. Sarah explains that Xander came by yesterday to see Maggie and found her instead. Sarah states that Xander was very shocked by how pregnant she is. Maggie asks what she told him. Sarah admits that she lied through her teeth.

Xander questions what Chloe has to tell him that’s going to affect their whole future. Xander asks if she’s breaking off their engagement and if it’s about his past, insisting that he’s learned his lesson. Chloe assures that she’s not breaking their engagement, but he may want to. Chloe informs Xander that she just found out that Sarah is pregnant. Xander asks who told her that. Chloe explains that she ran in to Henderson at the grocery store and he told her. Xander guesses Henderson was getting food for Victor’s funeral. Chloe questions why they are talking about Henderson instead of Sarah as she thought he would be shocked. Xander then reveals that he already knew as he found out yesterday.

Eric tells Roman that he really has to go but he’ll stop in later in the week to talk. Roman tells him to go be with Sloan. Roman knows how much Eric wanted this baby and says he’s so damn sorry. Eric thanks him for calling as they hang up. Nicole then approaches Eric and apologizes as she couldn’t help but hear what he was talking about and says it sounds like Sloan lost the baby which Eric confirms. Nicole tells Eric that she’s so sorry.

Sloan argues that Melinda doesn’t want her to tell Eric about Nicole’s baby because then she’ll have nothing to hold over her head and she’ll have to nail Li on her own. Melinda insists she’ll get him another way. Sloan questions why Melinda cares what she tells Eric. Melinda says she is speaking as her friend and warns that the clean slate that Sloan wants could blow up in her face. Melinda adds that if Eric and Nicole have the baby, he could decide that he wants them to be a family which means Sloan could lose Eric forever.

Maggie assumes that Sarah told Xander that the baby is Rex’s. Sarah confirms that she did, noting it was simple and made sense. Maggie asks how Rex feels about it. Sarah admits that Rex is crazy about the idea and wants to marry her.

Chloe questions Xander already knowing that Sarah was pregnant. Xander explains that he found out when he went to see Maggie but he ran in to Sarah and she was obviously with child. Chloe questions why Xander wouldn’t tell her that Sarah is pregnant.

Sloan questions Melinda wanting her to keep quiet about Nicole’s baby being Eric’s and expecting her to believe she’s doing it for her. Melinda questions Sloan thinking she can give Eric this huge news and it will all be fine. Sloan argues that Melinda doesn’t know how close they’ve become and brings up how he chose her side over his whole family. Melinda asks if she thinks it will still be that way if he finds out what she did. Sloan insists that Eric will forgive her. Melinda reminds Sloan that she said it would be okay if Eric knew about Nicole’s baby because she was carrying his baby too but that’s not true anymore. Sloan says that’s enough and tells her to leave her alone. Melinda refuses until she gets through to her, reminding Sloan that she said their baby would bond them together for life but now the only one carrying Eric’s baby is Nicole, so she rests her case.

Kate goes to the Brady Pub and brings Roman bags of everything he needs for the baby shower. Kate mentions not being a fan of Sloan either but she heard from Marlena that they wanted to throw a baby shower and smooth things over. Roman stops Kate and informs her that there is not going to be a baby shower because Sloan lost the baby.

Nicole tells Eric that this is so sudden since last time she talked to Sloan, she said everything was great. Eric says that it was and then Kayla discovered some kind of auto immune disorder that Sloan didn’t know she had which caused the miscarriage. Eric adds that Kayla also said it would be risky for Sloan to even get pregnant again. Nicole knows that must have been hard to hear, especially after what happened. Nicole reminds Eric that they told her that too so she encourages him not to give up hope. Eric feels it’s too soon for that. Nicole tells Eric that this is so unfair as she knows how much he wants a child and that he would make a wonderful father.

Kate tells Roman that Eric has to be devastated. Roman confirms that he was definitely blindsided. Roman feels he was useless on the phone just now. Kate encourages that Roman will help Eric through this as they all will. Kate then informs Roman that he was right about telling Philip that his father was dead, so she took his advice and called Philip to tell him.

Sloan hates it but admits that Melinda is right that if she tells Eric what she has done, he’ll never forgive her and without a baby, there’s no reason for him to stay with her. Melinda points out that then Sloan would be childless and single, but Eric won’t find out if she keeps her mouth shut. Sloan asks if Melinda is going to continue threatening her. Melinda says she couldn’t do that to her now. Sloan questions Melinda really only thinking of her. Melinda assures that she came as her friend, not a prosecutor. Melinda vows to not tell a soul what Sloan did or that she’s keeping it from Eric and she won’t use what she knows against her. Melinda suggests that even if Eric did know about Nicole’s baby, it might not change a thing since Nicole is engaged to EJ, who is rich and handsome and they both are delighted to have the baby together so Melinda asks what Nicole would need Eric for.

Eric asks if Nicole is at the hospital to see her OB. Nicole says she came to pick up a prescription. Eric supposes he should get back to Sloan. Nicole tells Eric that if he ever needs someone to talk to who gets it, he knows where she is. Eric thanks her and then notices Nicole’s engagement ring.

Maggie asks Sarah if she’s sure that Rex sincerely wants to marry her. Sarah responds that Rex told her that losing her was the biggest mistake of his life and that he never stopped loving her which he said when she was still with Xander. Sarah tells Maggie that this is her future and reveals that she called Rex last night to accept his proposal. Maggie reminds Sarah that Rex had an affair the last time they were engaged, so he’s not reliable. Sarah argues that Rex is a changed man and guesses that Maggie won’t give them her blessing. Maggie responds that she can’t because Rex has cheated on her. Maggie declares that Sarah cannot go in to this marriage with the father of her baby not knowing the truth. Sarah argues that she told Xander that Rex is the father and he totally bought it. Maggie calls it a lie and insists that the baby’s father deserves to be part of the baby’s life. Sarah questions why Xander deserves anything from her after what he did. Sarah can’t believe Maggie is on Xander’s side. Maggie says she’s on her side too but Sarah doesn’t feel that way. Maggie warns Sarah about what it’s going to be like having to lie to her child about who their father is and asks if she can really live like that. Maggie asks what if somehow the truth comes out and it all blows up in her face.

Xander promises Chloe that he was eventually going to tell her all about Sarah, but when she came home and accepted his proposal, he was so excited that it was all he could think about. Xander adds that this doesn’t change anything for them. Chloe argues that Xander’s ex-wife is pregnant with his child but Xander tells her that it’s not. Xander informs her that the father is Rex Brady. Chloe asks if he’s sure about that.

Sarah doesn’t want to fight with Maggie while she’s grieving the love of her life. Sarah knows Maggie wants her and Xander to be together and to raise the baby together, but says she can’t do that and it’s not a possibility for either of them at this point. Maggie asks what she’s talking about. Sarah informs her that Xander told her that he proposed to Chloe. Maggie hopes she doesn’t accept and argues that Xander is on the rebound. Maggie declares that Sarah is the only woman for Xander and she always will be. Sarah laughs at that and argues that Xander is incapable of being loyal. Sarah calls Xander a con artist who scams people and argues Maggie is fooling herself by thinking Xander is harmless or deserving of her forgiveness. Sarah brings up the things Xander said to her after they broke up. Maggie shouts they were both hurt and angry. Maggie feels they are now wasting time because they are too proud to admit the truth. Maggie tells Sarah that she’s right that she lost the love of her life, so she doesn’t want Sarah to lose hers.

Xander informs Chloe that Sarah told him that Rex is the father of her baby and argues that she wouldn’t lie about something like that. Chloe comments that Henderson said it looks like Sarah is in her final trimester. Chloe asks if Xander’s sure since she had to have gotten pregnant before leaving Salem. Xander reveals that Sarah slept with Rex before she left Salem, right after they broke up, which Chloe admits she did not know. Xander tells Chloe that Sarah and Rex are having a baby and Sarah says they really happy just like they are. Xander assures Chloe that she is the woman he wants to be with as they kiss.

Roman asks Kate how Philip took learning about his father’s death. Kate says like most of them, he thought Victor would live forever, so he was stunned and he wants to come back but she reminded him that he did everything to convince people he’s dead and that Brady killed him. Roman adds that it wouldn’t go unnoticed by the police, so Philip needs to grieve from a distance, not a jail cell. Kate says that’s what she told him but she couldn’t get through to him because he wants to honor his father and doesn’t care about the consequences. Roman worries that Philip will care when it gets real. Kate says she offered to send him some of Victor’s ashes which he agreed to consider. They hope he will realize she’s right. Roman wonders if Philip ever thought he’d have to leave Salem forever when he was setting Brady up. Kate complains that Philip was always obsessed with Chloe. Kate admits she feels so bad about trying to convince Philip not to come to his father’s funeral. Roman assures that she’s doing the right thing.

Nicole confirms to Eric that EJ proposed and she accepted, so EJ is picking up the marriage license now. Eric is surprised they are already planning the wedding. Nicole says it won’t be a big deal and probably just them and the kids. Eric asks if the wedding is happening soon. Nicole responds that it is.

Sloan asks how Melinda is so sure that Nicole and EJ are such a love match. Melinda clarifies that she never said that and it’s probably a business deal but for the moment, they are committed to each other so keeping her mouth shut is the practical thing to do. Melinda admits she would love for EJ to find out that Sloan played him and that EJ would spend the next 20 years raising another man’s child. Sloan jokes that Melinda must really hate EJ’s guts. Melinda says she hates EJ wiggling out of the rotten and illegal things he’s done. Melinda remarks that EJ will find out about this one day and will suffer in ways the legal system could only dream of, which Sloan did. Melinda decides that’s enough about EJ as she came to see Sloan. Melinda tells her that she’s so sorry about the baby. Sloan admits that she had started to tell Eric the truth, to the point that she told him she had to tell him something that would upset him but then she got the awful pains and that’s when she miscarried. Melinda guesses Eric probably forgot what she said before the trauma but Sloan reveals that he hasn’t forgotten because he asked her about it today. Sloan decides that if she’s not going to tell him about Nicole’s baby, she doesn’t know what the hell she’s going to say instead.

Eric wishes Nicole and EJ the best. Nicole thanks him and hopes that Eric and Sloan can work through this. Eric says he better go check on her and then heads to Sloan’s hospital room.

Sloan tells Melinda that she doesn’t know how to explain to Eric what she said and she is no place to come up with a strategy. Melinda responds that luckily, she is and she knows exactly what she can tell Eric.

Roman wonders if Eric would mind if he showed up at the hospital. Kate encourages that Eric has probably been by Sloan’s side since it happened, so he can bring him something to eat. Kate tells Roman to stay as long as he’d like and she will hold it down at the Pub. Roman calls her the best and hugs her.

Chloe apologizes to Xander for realizing that Scottish cuisine is not really her thing. Xander encourages that she has plenty of time to acquire the taste but feels bad for turning her stomach. Xander decides he should go see Maggie and that he will do the dishes when he gets home. Chloe says she will do the dishes and decides she will try the food. Xander and Chloe say I love you to each other and kiss as Xander then exits.

Sarah doesn’t want to argue with Maggie as she knows the kind of pain she’s in while grieving the loss of her husband. Sarah says she would do anything to comfort her but she cannot tell Xander about the baby because then they would be tied together forever and she does not want that. Sarah calls Xander two different people, the wonderful sweet man she fell in love with but also the scary man who kidnapped Bonnie and Susan, so she would never know which Xander they’d get. Sarah declares that she is marrying Rex. Maggie asks if she loves Rex the way she loved Xander. Sarah says not yet, but she will and he will be good to her and the baby. Sarah says they will be a happy family and Xander will find happiness but she doesn’t care. Maggie thanks her for being honest with her if that’s the way it has to be. Maggie then gets a text from Xander and tells Sarah that he is on his way.

Melinda exits Sloan’s hospital room and runs in to Nicole. Nicole tells Melinda that she’s pissed off because she knows that she tried to tell EJ there’s some reason he shouldn’t marry her. Melinda claims she was just playing with him. Nicole tells her to go play somewhere else because her relationship is none of her business. Melinda agrees and apologizes. Melinda understands they are expecting a child together and want to be married, so she hopes they have a long and happy life together. Nicole doesn’t believe her and remarks that Melinda wants everyone to be as miserable as she is. Melinda says it was nice chatting with her and quickly exits the hospital.

Eric returns to Sloan’s room and apologizes for taking so long as he was taking to Roman. Eric asks if Sloan is still in pain. Sloan says not really. Sloan brings up Eric asking what she was going to talk to him about last night. Eric says they don’t have to talk about that right now but Sloan says she wants to. Sloan informs Eric that what she was about to tell him is that before any of this happened, she woke up and felt like something was off but she didn’t know what and convinced herself it was nothing. Sloan says she didn’t call her doctor and that’s what she was about to tell him but then the pain started. Sloan cries that she should’ve done something, called her doctor, or gone to the ER and then maybe they’d still be pregnant. Eric encourages that Kayla said there’s nothing she could’ve done. Sloan cries that they may never have a baby and it’s all because of her. Eric urges her not to give up hope. Eric brings up Nicole being told that she could never carry a baby to term and he just saw her in the hallway and she said her pregnancy is going beautifully. Eric adds that Nicole also said to tell Sloan that she’s sorry. Sloan calls that sweet of her and asks Eric to hold her which he does.

Xander goes to see Maggie and tells her that he still can’t believe Victor is gone as he thought he would outlive them all. Maggie thought she would be with Victor at the end. Xander jokes about who’s going to give him hell now. Maggie states that Victor had a certain grudging respect for him. Xander thanks her for saying that even if it’s not true. Sarah then comes back in to the room and asks Xander if they can talk for a few minutes. Maggie says they can talk now as she was leaving. Maggie tells Xander not to be a stranger as they hug. Maggie then exits the room. Xander asks what Sarah didn’t say yesterday.

Kate sits at the Pub and toasts to Victor, commenting that there will never be another one like him. Roman returns. Kate thought he was going to the hospital. Roman responds that he is, but reveals that he just ran in to her son and Kate assumes he means Philip.

Chloe’s doorbell rings.

Kate asks Roman why Philip didn’t come in with him. Roman reveals it’s not Philip as Rex enters the Pub and surprises Kate.

Chloe says the doorbell was perfect timing for saving her from having to eat the Scottish food. Chloe says she loves whoever it is and answers the door, shocked to see Philip.

Sloan is tossing and turning in her hospital bed. Eric wakes up from the chair next to her and asks if she’s having a bad dream. Sloan responds that she had the worst dream that she lost the baby. Eric sadly informs her that was not a dream and their baby is gone.

EJ has a nightmare about the night his mother died when Ava drove Susan off a cliff. EJ then wakes up in a panic.

Ava envisions Susan Banks in Bayview and screams, telling Harris that Susan has come back from the dead. Harris encourages her that it’s okay and it’s not Susan. Ava rushes up to the woman and says she didn’t mean for her to die. The woman remarks that Ava must be off her meds. Ava argues that she’s trying to trick them and shouts for Susan to leave her alone.

Roman and Marlena sit together at the Brady Pub, talking about how they still can’t believe Victor is gone. Roman questions if Marlena is mourning him. Marlena admits they had their issues as she flashes back to arguing with Victor in the past. Marlena knows that Victor caused a lot of chaos and difficulty in Salem but admits that he did make the place more interesting which Roman agrees with. Marlena adds that they are very close to a lot of people who did love Victor. Roman acknowledges that Victor and Kate share a son and they know the lifelong bond that creates. Roman asks how Brady is holding up. Marlena says he’s alright but it’s a little more complicated because of what’s going on with Kristen and Rachel. Marlena adds that Belle said her family is having a hard time too. Roman states that Victor was a big part of everyone’s life and a force to be reckoned with. Roman and Marlena toast their coffee to Victor and those who loved him. Marlena guesses Roman has heard that Eric is engaged. Roman says not to remind him. Marlena admits she wasn’t thrilled when he told her that Sloan is pregnant, but that would mean Eric is a dad and they’ll be grandparents. Marlena notes that regardless of how they feel about Sloan, they are going to get married.

Sloan asks why this happened to them when she was having a healthy pregnancy. Eric responds that he doesn’t know and they are running tests but the doctors said that sometimes this happens. Kayla comes in to ask how Sloan is feeling. Sloan asks how she thinks when her baby is dead, then apologizes for snapping at her. Kayla expresses being sorry for their loss. Sloan asks if they got their test results back because she needs to know why she lost her baby.

Melinda wakes up in bed with Li. Melinda slips out of bed while Li is asleep and says she’s going to look for the proof she needs that Li was behind Stefan’s attempted murder. Melinda searches the room and finds Li’s phone. Melinda begins to go through it when Li wakes up and questions what she thinks she’s doing. Melinda pretends that she thought it was her phone and jokes that they will have to get different cases as Li takes his phone back. They talk about the good time they had last night and this morning. Melinda states that she didn’t plan on coming over to sleep with him. Li guesses that he swept her off her feet. They start kissing again and Melinda says she really wants to but she has to get to the courthouse. Li jokes that this is so much more fun than putting bad guys behind bars. Melinda agrees but says she has to earn a living. Melinda then goes to take a shower. Li grabs his phone and wonders what exactly Melinda is up to.

Kayla asks Eric to give her and Sloan a moment alone but Sloan wants Eric to stay. Sloan gives Kayla permission to share everything with Eric since it was his baby too. Eric thanks her. Sloan asks what the tests revealed. Kayla reveals the test results show that Sloan has an auto immune disorder where her body mistakenly creates antibodies that attack healthy tissue which is most likely why she passed out. Kayla thinks that is probably what caused the miscarriage but encourages that there are effective treatments. Kayla says she will print out papers for them to read and understand more of what they are dealing with. Eric thanks Kayla as she says she’s so sorry for their loss. Kayla then exits the room. Eric tells Sloan that at least they know now why this happened. Sloan cries that she knows exactly why it happened and it has nothing to do with an auto immune disorder. Eric questions what she means. Sloan cries that she’s being punished for being who she is and the choices she’s made. Eric argues that God does not work that way. Sloan complains that God took their baby for the decisions she’s made.

Nicole joins EJ in the bedroom and asks if he’s okay. EJ says he’s fine and claims it’s nothing. Nicole worries that he looks like he’s seen a ghost. EJ responds that he has in a matter of speaking but it was just a nightmare. EJ calls it a series of memories of the night that Ava Vitali killed his mother.

Ava continues envisioning the patient Midge as Susan Banks and says she’s come back for revenge. Midge questions what she’s talking about while Harris says she’s just confused. Ava argues that Susan is standing right there and insists that she didn’t mean to kill her. Ava screams for her to leave her alone. Harris holds Ava and says it’s okay while Midge walks away. Ava cries that Susan came back for revenge to punish her and she deserves it. Ava repeats that she can’t handle it. Harris assures that he is there and that woman was not Susan. Ava then sees Midge and not Susan so she says she’s so sorry. Harris tells her it’s okay. Ava asks how it will ever be okay if she’s still seeing dead people which means she’s still psychotic and she’s never going to get out of here or be well again. Harris hugs Ava as she breaks down crying.

Nicole asks EJ how long he’s been having nightmares about Susan and Ava. EJ says ever since the night Susan died. Nicole questions why he didn’t tell her. EJ says it’s not every night and seems to occur when he’s under duress. Nicole asks if he’s talked to anyone but EJ says he doesn’t need anything like Marlena. EJ declares that it’s obvious that his loss is unresolved because he hasn’t been able to avenge his mother’s death. EJ argues that Ava faked a mental breakdown to get shipped off to a mental hospital and questions where the justice is in that. Nicole doesn’t think Ava is faking mental illness and attests that Ava is deranged. EJ complains that Ava is still alive and well while his mother was sent to an early grave so he feels the nightmares will continue to plague him until he makes sure Ava gets what she deserves.

Ava tells Harris that she thought she was getting better after her visit with Tripp. Harris tells Ava that he’s the last person to give advice on mental health but he’s learned that reclaiming your sanity is not a straight line as there will be good days and bad days. Harris suggests maybe she just needs to adjust her meds. Ava wonders if she’ll ever get better and asks what if the doctors see this as a major setback and isolate her without any visitors. Harris doesn’t think they will do that. Ava cries that she needs to see her son. Ava worries about if they see her as incurable and as always a threat to society. Harris encourages that he can get her a psychiatrist that will see her without judgment in Dr. Marlena Evans.

Marlena tells Roman that it would be nice to have a grandbaby to spoil again which he agrees with. Roman admits he misses it since Allie moved to New Zealand with Henry. Marlena suggests they have a baby shower for Sloan right here at the Pub. Roman asks if she’s serious. Marlena says it would be for Eric too but Roman says he’ll pass. Marlena thought he was looking forward to another grandchild. Roman argues that it doesn’t mean he has to throw a big party for Sloan Peterson. Roman complains that Sloan also insulted his clam chowder. Roman declares that Sloan might be carrying Eric’s baby and she might marry him one day but that doesn’t mean he has to feed or like her.

Eric doesn’t understand why Sloan is saying she deserves punishment and asks what she did. Sloan thinks back to altering Nicole’s test results. Sloan tells Eric that it’s all the terrible things she’s done. Eric feels she’s being way too hard on herself. Sloan cries about if he knew some of the things she’s done. Eric remembers her trying to tell him something before she collapsed and asks if that’s what this is about.

Kayla talks to Tripp on the phone. Tripp asks if she’s sure he doesn’t need to come in. Kayla assures him and encourages him to rest. Tripp asks about Sloan. Kayla calls it quite a blow for her and Eric. Tripp asks if Kayla has figured out what might have caused Sloan to miscarry right as Melinda walks in and questions Tripp about Sloan losing the baby. Tripp thanks Kayla for the update and hangs up. Melinda asks Tripp what happened but Tripp says he’s not at liberty to discuss patients. Melinda argues that she’s friends with Sloan, so Tripp tells her to talk to her. Melinda says she will then. Tripp tries to remind her that she’s not supposed to know but Melinda rushes out.

Eric asks Sloan what she was about to tell him before she got sick and passed out but they get interrupted by Kayla coming back in with the papers on what she found about Sloan’s auto immune disorder. Sloan asks if this condition means she will never be able to have a baby. Kayla says there is a medication that she can take to lessen chances of a miscarriage. Eric asks if it’s curable. Kayla responds that it’s treatable but not curable. Sloan realizes it’s something she will have to live with for the rest of her life.

Nicole tells EJ that when it comes to revenge schemes, she usually jumps in with both feet but says things are different now because they are having a baby. Nicole reminds EJ that there were casualties last time he went to war with Ava and they don’t want anything to happen to their baby. EJ assures he would never let anything happen to her or their baby. Nicole asks him to let this go then. EJ is afraid he can’t do that because as long as Ava is out there, she’s a threat to his family and so is anyone else willing to help her.

Ava asks Harris why Marlena would want to help her. Harris says that’s what she does. Ava says Harris doesn’t understand as she and Marlena have history. Ava acknowledges that she’s done really dirty things to the people Marlena cares about, including sleeping with her husband. Ava adds that John and Marlena are really good friends with Steve and Kayla and she made their lives hell when she first returned to Salem. Ava brings up Shawn Brady dying in a plane crash that she caused and Marlena being close with Susan. Ava then informs Harris that she also blew up the church at Susan’s funeral which Marlena was at. Harris admits that is a lot but that he’s also done terrible things to Marlena’s loved ones and she’s been helping him. Harris calls Marlena remarkably non-judgmental. Ava points out that Marlena did treat Ben Weston. Harris asks Ava to let him give Marlena a call so Ava tells him to knock himself out and go ahead to call Marlena. Harris goes to use the phone while Ava tries to approach Midge from before but she runs away from her.

Marlena gets the call from Harris and says he’ll be right there and see him soon. Roman asks if everything is okay. Marlena tells Roman that a patient needs to see her so she has to run. Roman appreciates the time they had. Marlena says she enjoyed it and asks Roman to call Eric to let him know they’ve decided to give them a baby shower. Roman questions why he still can’t say no to her. Marlena says she’ll be in touch with Kate about the details. Marlena hugs Roman and then exits the Pub. Roman feels he’s going to regret this as he picks up his phone to call Eric.

Sloan asks Kayla if she has to worry if she tries to get pregnant again. Kayla encourages that the doctors will keep an eye on it and there are medications. Sloan asks what kind of percentages they are talking about. Eric thinks they are getting ahead of themselves and need to focus on her recovery. Eric then gets a text from Roman to call him but says he’ll do it later. Sloan tells Eric to go ahead and call Eric as she admits she could use a moment alone to process everything. Kayla says she will be in her office if they need anything as she then exits. Eric asks Sloan if she’s sure she wants him to go. Sloan confirms that she’s sure so Eric says he’ll be right outside by the nurses station. Eric kisses Sloan and then exits the room. Melinda then enters and asks if Sloan is okay. Sloan questions what she’s doing there. Melinda says she heard about the baby. Sloan asks how. Melinda admits she overheard Tripp on the phone. Sloan complains about him saying it out in the open. Melinda repeats that she’s so sorry about the baby but Sloan questions if she is.

Li comes out of his room and asks Tripp where Melinda is. Tripp informs him that she left. Li asks if he should be offended that she didn’t say goodbye. Tripp says she said that she had to run. Li jokes that he hopes they didn’t disturb Tripp and Wendy last night or this morning. Tripp tells him it’s all good. Li says he was worried they might have been a bit too active. Tripp claims he didn’t even notice. Tripp guesses Li took his advice in giving Melinda another chance. Li says he could say that. Tripp asks if they are back together then. Li responds that they will see what happens. Tripp asks what that means. Li says it means they’ll see and he knows a lot of men would find it hard to get past a woman trying to trick them in to confessing to attempted murder. Tripp calls it good that he’s more forgiving. Li adds that it helps that Melinda is a fascinating woman. Tripp wishes him luck with that and says he’s going for a run so he’ll see him later. After Tripp exits, Li pulls out his phone.

Nicole asks EJ how Susan would feel about his plan to go after Ava. Nicole says she could hear Susan quoting a bible passage and the Susan that she knows would want EJ to turn the other cheek. EJ argues that Susan is not here now and Ava is the reason. Nicole says if the memory of Susan’s faith is not enough for him to drop this, she reminds EJ that they are getting married and calls it unattractive and distracting for him to be plotting revenge when they should be in the honeymoon phase and focused on each other. EJ insists that he can multi-task but then gives in and admits that the timing is not ideal. Nicole tells EJ that they are building a life together and vengeance plots don’t seem to fit in. Nicole then gets a text from her doctor who has refilled her prescription. EJ offers to give her a ride but Nicole says she will go while EJ goes to get the forms for their marriage license. EJ remembers not making it last time because he ran in to Melinda. EJ complains about Melinda implying a secret reason that he shouldn’t marry Nicole. Nicole argues that she’s not worried because for once, her conscience is clear and they are committed to each other and the baby. Nicole wonders what reason there could possibly be as they kiss.

Melinda insists to Sloan that she is sorry about her baby. Sloan complains that less than 24 hours ago, she was trying to blackmail her. Melinda says that was nothing personal. Sloan tells her to save her excuses as it doesn’t even matter now. Sloan declares that this is what she gets for lying to Eric; her baby is gone while Eric could still be a father. Melinda feels she shouldn’t worry about that right now. Sloan questions why Eric should suffer like she is and declares that she gets the message loud and clear. Sloan declares that she’s going to tell Eric that he’s the father of Nicole’s baby as soon as he gets back because she’s done with the lying. Melinda responds that she doesn’t think she should do that.

Eric calls Roman and asks him what’s up. Roman thanks him for getting back so quickly. Eric asks if something is going on. Roman explains that he and Marlena have decided they’d like to throw a baby shower for he and Sloan at the Pub. Roman acknowledges that he hasn’t been Sloan’s biggest fan but Marlena has convinced him that he needs to get over himself since Sloan is having Eric’s baby and no grandchild of his will go without a proper baby shower. Eric stops him and shouts that he doesn’t understand as Nicole arrives at the hospital behind him. Eric then declares that there can’t be a shower because Sloan lost the baby which Nicole overhears.

EJ walks through the town square with his forms for the marriage certificate as Tripp comes through on his run and runs right into EJ. EJ calls it a coincidence to run in to Tripp since just this morning he was thinking about how Tripp’s mother killed his. Tripp argues that Ava was suffering from a mental health relapse at the time which EJ helped exacerbate. EJ asks if he’s blaming him for Ava’s crimes. Tripp recalls being kidnapped by EJ’s goons. EJ remarks that lack of remorse must run in the Vitali bloodline. Tripp is sorry that EJ lost his mom and calls it a terrible tragedy. Tripp adds that his mom is finally getting the help she needs and is actually getting a lot better. EJ doubts that but Tripp calls it the truth and they hope one day she will fully recover and be released. Tripp declares that when that day comes, EJ will just have to deal with it. Tripp then continues his run. EJ remarks that they’ll see about that.

Marlena goes to Bayview. Harris thanks her for coming as Ava greets her. Marlena questions what is going on here. Harris asks if they can talk in private so he steps out with Marlena while Ava waits. Ava then imagines Susan appearing behind her and warning her that no one can help her until she starts telling the truth.

At Bayview, Harris Michaels sees Ava reading a book and greets her. Harris notes that she seems to be in good spirits and guesses her visit with Tripp went well. Ava confirms it was incredible and thinks seeing Tripp was just what the doctor ordered.

Tripp and Wendy talk at home about not getting a lot of sleep last night because of Li and Melinda in the other room. Tripp comments on Li giving Melinda another chance. Tripp and Wendy joke about being a little envious.

Stefan and Gabi finish having sex. Gabi then gets an alert on her phone that Victor Kiriakis died in a plane crash which shocks them. Gabi calls it really sad. Stefan is taken aback by Gabi’s reaction since there’s no love lost between Gabi and Victor. Gabi says there wasn’t but he was Sonny’s uncle and always made sure to make Arianna feel like part of the family. Stefan admits Salem won’t be the same without Victor scheming and manipulating. Gabi then tells Stefan that they need to talk about Kristen because she’s up to something and they need to get to the bottom of it.

At the DiMera Mansion, Kristen reads the article on Victor’s death and comments that she tried her damndest to send him to his grave but he finally made it there without her help. Kristen thinks back to when she stabbed Victor. Kristen wishes Victor to rest in misery. The doorbell then rings so Kristen answers the door to see a man, who says he’s there to see Dimitri concerning an urgent business matter.

In Iceland, Dimitri does pushups in the hotel room as Gwen comes in and comments that it looks like he’s recovered and they kiss. Gwen brings up visiting the lava fields. Dimitri tells Gwen that he would be happy doing anything with her. Gwen responds that he knows how to melt her heart. Gwen suggests they go shower. Dimitri thinks back to being in bed with Leo. Dimitri then suggests to Gwen that they invite Leo.

Stefan asks Gabi when Kristen isn’t up to something. Gabi says this time is different as she heard Kristen and Rachel talking about a secret involving money and it has something to do with Dimitri.

Kristen tells the man that Dimitri is her nephew and invites him in. He asks if Dimitri is home. Kristen informs him that Dimitri is away on his honeymoon with the love of his life. He says that’s too bad and guesses he should’ve factored the honeymoon before coming all the way from Alamainia. Kristen assumes this has something to do with the Von Leuschner trust which he confirms. The man introduces himself as Elliot Roth and says he represents the Von Leuschner trust. He asks how Kristen found out about it’s existence. Kristen claims she and Dimitri are close, so they share everything. He then informs Kristen that he flew to the US to personally present Dimitri with the first installment of his funds. Kristen jokes that Santa has arrived early and says he can leave it with her but Elliot says not so fast.

Gwen questions Dimitri wanting Leo to come to the lava fields with them. Dimitri says that Leo is Gwen’s best friend and he seems so lonely traveling by himself, so he thought it would be nice to make him feel included. Gwen calls him such a wonderful man as she talks about Dimitri not being infuriated by Leo crashing their honeymoon, but inviting him to join them. Gwen asks what she did to deserve him. Dimitri says he knows how much Leo means to Gwen. Gwen remembers Leo talking about the Madonna concert last night, so he would be flying back to Salem as they speak. Leo then shows up at the door and is thankful that Gwen is there. Gwen asks him what’s wrong. Leo responds that he feels awful. Gwen asks why and tells him to talk to her. Dimitri shakes his head behind her back as Leo tells Gwen that there is something he has to tell her.

Tripp kisses Wendy and apologizes for leaving their night at the Salem inn. Wendy understands it wasn’t his fault since his mom called and asks how that went. Tripp calls it really encouraging since Ava has improved so much. Wendy calls that amazing. Tripp talks about Ava being like he got his mom back. Wendy says she’s so happy for her and for Tripp.

Ava reminds Harris about how she was worried that seeing Tripp might cause her hallucinations but it didn’t. Harris calls that great and says it sounds like her meds are working. Ava says she can feel it and feels like she’s healing just in time to face the consequences of what she’s done. Harris doesn’t know if she wants to worry about that right now since she’s getting better and encourages her to focus on the healing journey. Ava responds that part of her healing journey is being accountable for what she’s done. Ava acknowledges that a sweet, innocent woman is dead because of what she’s done so she has to own it that if she didn’t let her rage for EJ DiMera get the better of her, then his mother would still be alive.

Kristen repeats to Elliot that she and Dimitri are very close, so he would be fine if he left the check with her. Elliot says he understands but he has to make sure certain terms are met with Dimitri. Kristen brings up that Dimitri had to be married before the age of 40 which Elliot confirms. Kristen informs him that his job is done as she can personally attest that Dimitri has met all the conditions of his family’s trust since she was at the wedding and is an eye witness. Elliot argues that he can’t just take her word for it and remarks on how many people would commit fraud for this amount of money. Kristen comments on what a corrupt world they live in.

Stefan tells Gabi that it wouldn’t surprise him if Kristen and Dimitri were planning on embezzling from DiMera. Gabi insists that they will get to the bottom of this. Stefan talks about the DiMeras being chess champions and assures that Rachel has been taught to always protect her queen. Stefan wonders what role Dimitri plays in Kristen’s scheme, if he’s the king next to her or just another pawn.

Dimitri tries to interrupt while Gwen asks Leo what’s upset him. Leo then reveals that Victor Kiriakis is dead, who he calls his uncle. Gwen questions Leo crying over that. Leo argues that he was family as he was his uncle-in-law for a brief period. Gwen argues that Victor despised and belittled Leo. Leo claims they had a special bond and thinks back to the last Christmas they spent together at the family home where Victor threatened to throw him out. Leo thinks deep down, Victor actually liked him. Gwen hugs Leo and says she’s so sorry while Leo and Dimitri exchange looks at one another.

Harris tells Ava that he knows their stories aren’t the same but he gets what it feels like to become so lost and separated from reality that you end up hurting innocent people. Ava agrees that their stories aren’t the same at all since Megan brainwashed Harris so he wasn’t in his right mind when he hurt people. Harris argues that Ava wasn’t in her right mind when she went after Susan since she was grieving and didn’t have support. Harris knows she didn’t ask for his opinion, but he feels it sounds like EJ and Gabi used her as a pawn in their twisted family war.

Gabi tells Stefan that Kristen could be using Rachel as a red herring, knowing they would follow the scent. Stefan suggests slowing down and going with what they know and building off that. Gabi states that Dimitri is too smart and cunning to be Kristen’s pawn. Stefan says that’s unless she double crosses him. Gabi says they know that Kristen and Dimitri are in this together. Gabi tells Stefan that all she could get out of Rachel was that the secret about money involved someone in the house.

Kristen asks Elliot what would be happen to Dimitri’s money if the marriage doesn’t stand up to his scrutiny. Elliot explains that if he determines that Dimitri did not meet the terms or that the marriage is a fraud, the money would be divided among the remaining heirs of the Von Leuschner trust. Kristen notes that would be Carly Manning, Frankie Brady, and asks who else. Elliot acknowledges that Kristen has done her homework and he’s impressed. Kristen claims she just wants everyone to be treated fairly. Elliot says it appears that Katarina and Francois both renounced their claim to the fortune decades ago. Kristen asks who would get the money if it falls through for Dimitri. Elliot explains that Dimitri’s money would be divided among Katarina’s children, Dimitri’s cousins, Nicholas Alamain and Melanie Jonas. Elliot asks if she’s worried about Dimitri failing to meet the terms.

Leo says he doesn’t know where all this grief is coming from and talks about all the guys he’s passing by in Iceland. Leo cries about watching West Side Story. Gwen says she’s so sorry he’s feeling so sad and asks if there’s anything she can do to help him feel better. Leo mentions seeing an ice cream cone downstairs. Gwen declares that if Leo wants ice cream, that’s what he will have. Gwen asks Dimitri if she can get him anything but he declines. Gwen says she’ll be back and exits the room. Dimitri then questions Leo, complaining that he scared him to death as he looked like he was going to confess. Leo says he would never and that he really is sad. Leo then adds that a confession would’ve served him right after Dimitri suggested he take Gwen to a fictional Madonna concert. Leo says he was just acting for Gwen’s sake and playing the role of someone not having sex with her husband. Dimitri asks if he was acting now or if he really is sad about Victor. Leo says he really is sad. Dimitri tells him that everything is going to be okay and that he just got an idea to take his mind off things as they start kissing.

Wendy asks Tripp where he thinks Ava goes from here. Tripp says it’s hard to say and it’s great that she’s doing better, but she is still responsible for the death of Susan. Wendy thinks the court won’t hold her responsible for something she did while she wasn’t in her right mind. Tripp says that the only person who knows for sure if Ava will be prosecuted is in the other room with Li. Wendy suggests knocking on the door and asking Melinda right now.

Kristen assures Elliot that she’s not worried since Dimitri and Gwen are completely above board, said their vows, and they are deeply in love. Elliot appreciates her reassurance. Kristen insists that they are head over heels and can’t keep their hands off each other.

Leo and Dimitri continue kissing until Leo says he can’t do this and talks about how inappropriate it is. Dimitri calls him funny and says he always lifts his spirits with his humor which is why he’s crazy about him. Leo stops him and asks what if Gwen comes back and finds out he’s gay. Leo asks if he will tell her that he was just consoling him. Dimitri tells Leo that he’ll be quick and goes down on him.

Gabi tells Stefan that she would love to just stay in bed with him, but the sooner they get downstairs and find out what Kristen is really hiding, the better. Stefan tells Gabi how sexy she is when planning someone’s takedown as they exit their room together.

Dimitri and Leo continue kissing until his phone rings. Leo says he better answer that as it could be Gwen. Dimitri answers the call from Kristen, who tells him that the honeymoon is over and he needs to haul his ass back to Salem.

Harris tells Ava that it’s kind of crazy that his therapists are already helping him understand and process some childhood traumas and all that he endured in the Navy and how that made him more susceptible to mind control. Ava is glad he’s getting the help he needs. Ava knows that Harris was trying to ease her conscience earlier but says she was in control when Gabi asked her to pretend to be married to Jake as she could’ve said no but she chose to go along with the lie. Ava adds that when EJ found out the truth and banished her from Salem, she went to a really bad place but the treatment she is getting here is starting to help and she’s finally starting to see some light. Harris has faith that Ava could be walking out of here soon. Ava tells Harris the same for him.

Wendy and Tripp laugh about hearing that it sounds like Melinda and Li are not quite done. Tripp guesses he’ll have to wait to ask Melinda about Ava’s case. Wendy suggests that in the meantime, they could make a little noise of their own as they kiss.

Leo asks Dimitri about his phone call. Dimitri claims that Kristen is in Chicago for a few days but Leo says he can tell he’s lying to him. Leo asks what was so important that Kristen had to bother them on their honeymoon. Dimitri then admits that somebody showed up at the DiMera Mansion, representing the Von Leuschner trust with the first payment. Leo gets excited about the money. Dimitri reminds him that they can get the money when he and Gwen return to Salem to prove to this man that they are a legitimate married couple.

Elliot asks Kristen if she was able to get in touch with Dimitri. Stefan and Gabi then walk in as Gabi comments that she didn’t know they had company. Kristen tells Elliot that she will walk him to the door but Stefan questions if she’s not going to introduce them to her guest. Elliot starts to introduce himself but Kristen interrupts and claims that Elliot is the head master of Rachel’s new school. Gabi questions Kristen taking Rachel out of her current school. Kristen claims that Rachel needed a more challenging experience. Kristen then hurries Elliot out of the mansion. Gabi tells Stefan that she knew Kristen was up to something and that Elliot is not the head master of any school.

Kristen walks Elliot outside as he questions who Rachel is and why she was telling those people that he’s the head master of her school. Kristen explains that Rachel is her daughter and Stefan and Gabi are her brother and sister in law. Elliot still does not understand. Kristen calls Gabi an opportunistic fortune hunter who is hellbent on sleeping her way to the top and argues that Dimitri and Gwen don’t need Gabi knowing about the enormous fortune that he’s about to come in to. Elliot supposes that makes sense and asks when exactly Dimitri and Gwen are expected to return. Kristen says it will be very soon as the DiMera Jet is on the runway in Iceland. Elliot looks forward to concluding his business with Dimitri. Gabi listens in from the front door as Elliot tells Kristen to tell Dimitri that he’ll be staying at the Salem Inn. Kristen assures that she will make sure Dimitri comes to see him the moment he returns.

Leo questions Dimitri about Elliot until Gwen returns with ice cream. Gwen apologizes for taking so long and complains about the line. Gwen then asks them if everything is alright. Dimitri tells her that unfortunately they must say so long to Iceland for now, since he received a phone call and his presence is requested back in Salem. Gwen questions by who but Dimitri says he’ll tell her on the way but they have to get packing now.

Kristen goes back inside where Stefan asks her about Rachel’s new school. Kristen asks where Gabi is. Stefan responds that she had an errand to run.

Elliot goes to his room at the Salem Inn. Gabi sneaks around the corner and declares that now she’s going to get to the bottom of why Elliot Roth is really in Salem.

Tripp and Wendy kiss until Tripp stops and jokes that he didn’t envision their first time happening before a live studio audience. Tripp blames their lack of sleep affecting their decision making abilities. Wendy agrees that they deserve better. Wendy suggests they both get ready to work and then once they get home, they can make a solid plan on when and where they can finally be together. Tripp says that sounds good to him and that he’s going to take a cold shower.

Ava tells Harris that her doctors think the visit went so well that Tripp could come back soon. Ava speaks fondly of Tripp and declares that the only thing she’s proud of in life is being Tripp’s mom. Harris comments that her progress gives him hope. Ava declares that if Bayview can help her, it can help anyone. Ava knows it’s only been a couple days, but she feels like she’s really getting her life back. Ava jokes that she no longer sees dead people, but then she looks up and envisions Susan Banks and screams.

Nicole is in the living room of the DiMera Mansion as Johnny comes in from a swim. Johnny talks about enjoying the last of summer and tells Nicole that the water’s great, so she should take a swim. Nicole asks if Johnny has any plans tonight. Johnny thinks back to overhearing Chanel and Talia planning a date. Johnny then tells Nicole that he’s free as a bird.

Chanel walks through the town square and gets a call from Talia, who says she heard a rumor that Paulina is the new mayor and Rawlings is out on his ass. Chanel confirms it to be true and says it’s great for Salem, especially for her because she can reopen the Bakery. Talia calls that amazing news and says she’s so happy for her. Chanel thanks her and guesses Paulina really did have a plan after all. Talia says she understands if she can’t make it to the concert tonight since she’ll have a lot to do to get the Bakery up and running again. Chanel says it shouldn’t take long and that she can still make their date. Talia says she’s been looking forward to it all day and offers to pick her up from the Bakery in about 30 minutes which Chanel calls perfect as they hang up.

Johnny tells Nicole that he heard on the radio that Victor Kiriakis died in a plane crash. Nicole calls it awful. Johnny asks Nicole about being married to Victor once upon a time. Nicole confirms that she was just thinking about their marriage and says it was miserable as they totally despised each other. Nicole admits at one point in her life, she probably would’ve danced on his grave but admits part of her is going to miss Victor. Nicole remarks that Victor was not her least favorite ex-husband. Johnny congratulates Nicole on her engagement to EJ and asks if they’ve set a date. Nicole says not yet but notes that EJ went to get the forms for their marriage license.

EJ walks past the Brady Pub and bumps in to Melinda Trask, who tells him to watch where he’s going. EJ says he could say the same but he will just apologize because he has to get going to get marriage forms for he and Nicole. Melinda stops him and asks if he’s sure he wants to do that. EJ questions what that is supposed to mean. Melinda claims she’s just trying to give him some friendly advice. EJ questions them being friends when she’s spent the past decade trying to put him behind bars. Melinda says that was nothing personal but she just thinks he should really make sure he wants to commit to Nicole. EJ responds that he wants nothing more. Melinda asks if that’s because she’s pregnant. EJ states that he is very happy that Nicole is having his child. Melinda warns that if that’s the only reason he’d like nothing more than to marry her, maybe he should reconsider, as she then walks away.

Eric asks Sloan what she needs to tell him. Sloan thinks back to Melinda warning her not to tell Eric about Nicole’s baby being his. Sloan then asks Eric if he loves her. Eric assures that he does and that he wouldn’t have asked her to marry him if he didn’t. Eric asks her again what is going on. Sloan responds that there’s something she hasn’t told him as she’s been keeping a secret and she’s really worried that he’s going to be angry but it can’t wait any longer, so she prays that he will understand.

Wendy comes home as Li is cooking. Li tells Wendy that she will have to satisfy her hunger somewhere else because this is a special dinner for he and date so he’s going to need her to disappear for the night. Wendy complains that she just worked a 14 hour shift so she doesn’t want to go out while Li argues that she’s the one always pushing him about his love life, so he would think she’d be happy for him and willing to do him the kindness. Wendy reluctantly agrees but first asks who the lucky lady is. Li admits it’s Melinda which shocks Wendy. Wendy hopes he will send her through a metal detector before coming in, reminding that he couldn’t trust her. Li reveals that they have decided to start over. Wendy questions what changed his mind. Li says it was nothing specific but he thinks dating Melinda is exactly what he needs.

EJ tells Melinda that Nicole being pregnant with his child is not the only reason he’s marrying her and he doesn’t view it as an obligation as he happens to love her very much. Melinda quotes Shakespeare, noting that the road to true love is never smooth. Melinda warns him about them being left in the dark when the sun sets. EJ tells her to stop speaking in riddles and says she clearly has something to say to him, so he tells her to spit it out. Melinda guesses he’ll hear about it soon enough anyway.

Eric tells Sloan that she can tell him whatever it is. Sloan states that never in her life has she cared about anybody the way she cares about him, which is why she’s so scared because it’s the first time she has so much to lose. Eric assures that he’s not going anywhere and that he loves her. Eric asks what is on her mind. Sloan worries that she should’ve told him this so much sooner. Sloan then gets a sudden pain in her stomach. Eric asks if she’s okay and what’s wrong. Sloan complains of a really sharp pain but says it’s okay. Eric suggests they sit down and offers to call the doctor but Sloan says the pain is gone now and she thinks she’s okay. Eric still thinks they should get it checked out. Sloan thinks it’s gone but then gets the pain again so Eric decides they need to get her to the hospital.

Talia runs in to Kayla at the hospital and mentions that she just finished a session with Marlena. Kayla asks how that is going. Talia says it’s going really well and she thinks she’s making a lot of progress. Talia calls it one of the best things she’s ever done for herself, even if it was court ordered. Kayla praises her effort. Talia assures that she’s taking it very seriously and that she’s determined to make up for her mistakes. Talia points out that none of it is financially rewarding and she can’t lean on her sister forever. Talia notes that the only job she had was at the Bakery and that didn’t end well, but she will have to find something soon and she doesn’t know what it is. Kayla suggests that Talia could work at the hospital.

Chanel walks through the town square and comes across Wendy, who asks how she is doing. Chanel responds that she’s great now that she gets to bake again because she’s happy to report the Bakery is reopening. Wendy congratulates her and calls it a relief. Chanel tells her to come by tomorrow and she’ll hook her up. Wendy mentions that she was heading to the Bistro and invites Chanel to join her. Chanel says she would love to but she already has plans. Wendy hoped Chanel could keep her company since she’s been banished from the apartment while Li romances Melinda Trask which surprises Chanel. Wendy mentions that Tripp seems to think Melinda is not so bad but says he sees the best in everyone. Wendy jokes that it can be annoying. Chanel asks how come Tripp isn’t taking her to the Bistro. Wendy says he’s at work. Chanel admits Tripp is a really great guy so she’s happy for them both. Wendy thanks her and says she’s happy too but she wishes Johnny hadn’t gotten hurt in the process. Chanel assures that Johnny will bounce back. Wendy thought maybe Chanel could be the one to help Johnny pick up the pieces.

Johnny asks Nicole if Sami knows she and EJ are getting married again. Nicole jokes that there’s no knife in her back, so she doesn’t know. Johnny jokes that she does live on another continent. Nicole admits that if the day had gone differently, Sami could’ve had a front row seat as EJ had the idea for them to fly to Italy to get married. Johnny asks what stopped them. Nicole informs him that Dimitri took the DiMera Jet to Iceland for his honeymoon. Johnny says that’s too bad and jokes that they could’ve just flown commercial. Johnny admits it was a nice idea, even if they did totally steal it from him. Nicole remembers that Johnny and Chanel did elope in Rome. Johnny calls that the best day of his life. Nicole says it sounds like he really loved her. Johnny admits that he still does.

Melinda tells EJ that if this were anyone else, she might feel bad but EJ is not a nice guy so she’s going to enjoy watching him process what she’s about to tell him. EJ asks what it is, but Melinda gets a call from Li, who informs her that he has a homecooked meal and a bottle of red wine, hoping she would grace him with her lovely presence for dinner now. Melinda calls it a late notice. Li says he did text her but he knows she’s a busy woman. Li adds that he’d really like to see her tonight and thought maybe she’d like to see him too, but he understands if she has something more important going on. Li asks if he should text her his address. Melinda admits that dinner sounds lovely, so she’ll be there soon and they hang up. EJ then questions why Melinda is hinting that he shouldn’t marry Nicole and if she’s cooking up some false charges against her. Melinda tells him to just forget she said anything. EJ asks if she’s kidding after all that. Melinda jokes that she’s glad they got to talk and then walks away, leaving EJ frustrated.

Nicole tells Johnny that she and EJ got divorced twice, but somehow they found their way back to each other, so maybe the same will happen for Johnny and Chanel. Johnny admits he was hoping for that and he was ready to tell Chanel how he felt, but Talia beat him to the punch. Johnny explains that he heard Talia and Chanel making plans to go on a date tonight, so he kept his mouth shut and left before they knew he was there. Nicole calls that crazy and questions why Chanel would agree to go out with Talia when she tried to destroy her life. Johnny says he has no clue but it seems like all is forgiven. Nicole calls that stupid after everything Talia did to Chanel and questions how she could be trusted again. Johnny doesn’t get it either but says he missed his chance, so he has to move on. Johnny jokes that maybe Li could set him up with his matchmaker. Nicole argues that he doesn’t need that and questions why he’s giving up so easily on Chanel. Nicole reminds Johnny that he is a DiMera. Johnny doesn’t know since Chanel seems pretty in to Talia. Nicole argues that’s only because she doesn’t know Johnny is an option. Nicole suggests Johnny throw his hat in the ring to let her know he’s available.

Chanel questions Wendy thinking she and Johnny should get back together. Wendy asks why not, pointing out that they were married once. Chanel feels that was a lifetime ago while Wendy says it’s obvious they still have a connection. Wendy adds that’s partly why she ended up choosing Tripp. Chanel questions what she’s talking about. Wendy is surprised that Johnny didn’t tell her. Chanel confirms that he didn’t say anything. Wendy explains that it seemed every time she turned around, Johnny was with Chanel and even though he claimed to want to be with her, it was clear that Chanel was his main priority. Chanel tells her that she’s so sorry as she never wanted to come between her and Johnny. Wendy says it’s fine and she knows it wasn’t intentional. Wendy adds that it helped her realize that Tripp is the man she wants to be with. Chanel is glad but thinks she misunderstood since Johnny was just being a good friend to her and nothing more. Wendy asks if she’s sure about that since she’s pretty sure Johnny has unresolved feelings for her. Wendy asks if Chanel still has feelings for Johnny.

Talia excitedly tells Kayla that she would love to work at the hospital and asks what positions she has open. Kayla brings up Talia having her medical degree and suggests she be a doctor. Talia is surprised that Kayla would want her to be a doctor despite knowing what she did. Kayla says she’s not saying her criminal record won’t be an issue and it’s not just her decision, but she’s working hard and she believes in second chances, so she will go to bat for her. Talia thanks her and promises to work her ass off if it happens. Kayla says she has no doubt. Talia says she won’t let her down. Kayla agrees to let her know what happens as she walks away. Eric then brings Sloan in. Talia asks what’s wrong with her as Sloan then passes out in Eric’s arms.

Melinda goes to Li’s apartment and tells herself to forget Sloan as she will get the goods on Li herself.

Li prepares for his date and says if he can sweep Melinda off her feet, maybe she won’t prosecute him, so he just has to turn up the charm. Melinda then knocks on the door so Li answers and invites her in. Li knows he didn’t give her much notice but he’s thrilled that she’s there. Li says she sounded like she was in the middle of something when he called. Melinda says it was nothing important as she had just run into EJ at the Pub. Li agrees that’s of little importance then. Melinda admits that EJ was pompous and testy, claiming that she was merely congratulating EJ on his engagement to Nicole.

Nicole urges Johnny to tell Chanel how he feels since they have so much history. Johnny points out that the whole love triangle thing hasn’t worked out for him since he lost Chanel to Allie and then lost Wendy to Tripp, so he doesn’t think his fragile ego could take a third strike. Nicole admits that rejection can be demoralizing and feels like she spent her whole life being second fiddle and a loser in love. Nicole encourages that he can’t give up as she didn’t. Johnny feels it would be best for everyone if he just backed off. Nicole reminds Johnny that he just said marrying Chanel was the best day of his life and asks if it’s not worth fighting for more days like that for love.

Chanel tells Wendy that earlier this year, she did feel a spark with Johnny but she was with Allie and didn’t want to cross any lines, then when things blew up with Allie anyway, Johnny was with Wendy, so she thinks they might have missed their moment. Wendy asks what about now since they are both free and moments can come back around. Chanel reveals that her plans tonight are actually with Talia and it’s their first official date which surprises Wendy. Chanel explains that Talia was being manipulated by her boyfriend and she’s truly sorry. Wendy says she doesn’t have to justify it as it’s cool and she’s happy for her, but she just thought there could be something with her and Johnny. Chanel thinks Wendy might be off base about Johnny’s feelings since he hasn’t said anything to her. Chanel suggests it may be best to move forward and not backward. Wendy hopes things work out with her and Talia. Chanel notes that Talia should be here by now, so she wonders what’s keeping her.

Talia checks on Sloan after she’s passed out and notes that she has no pulse and she’s not breathing. Eric screams for help as Talia mentions that she’s a doctor, so Eric asks Talia to please help her. Kayla rushes over and asks what’s going on. Eric explains that she was having a sharp pain so he brought her in, but then she just collapsed and she wasn’t breathing. Talia finds a pulse and tells Kayla that she’s sorry but there was no one else around. Kayla tells her not to apologize as saved Sloan’s life, but says she will take it from here as Eric thanks Talia.

EJ comes home as Nicole feels the baby kick for the first time. Nicole asks how it went at the courthouse but EJ reveals that they were closed by the time he got there, so he’ll have to wait until tomorrow to get those forms. Nicole says that’s too bad but she thought he left with plenty of time to spare. EJ explains that he did but then Melinda Trask turned up and they had the strangest encounter which Nicole asks about. EJ says he mentioned they were engaged and then Melinda implied that there was some reason he shouldn’t marry her.

Li and Melinda eat dinner. Melinda calls it lovely as she can’t remember the last time someone cooked for him. Li feels it’s the least he could do since she forgave him for literally running out on her. Melinda acknowledges that she can’t blame him since she did try to get him to confess to a crime he didn’t commit, so she thanks him for forgiving her for that. Li calls them even. Melinda admits that she sometimes has problems prioritizing as she focuses so much on her job that it gets in the way of her personal life. Li relates since his life revolved around DiMera Enterprises, but now that he’s stepped back, he finally feels free. Melinda wonders if she should do that too and concentrate on what really matters, like love. Li calls having dinner with him a step in the right direction. Melinda thinks it’s a little early to be calling this love. Li agrees and suggests a healthy attraction or a lustful desire. Melinda asks if he desires her then. Li questions if she has to ask and says he’ll fix that as he then kisses her.

Wendy tells Chanel that she has plenty of time to hang out, so she’ll keep her company until Talia gets there. Johnny then approaches and greets them. Wendy claims she was just leaving and says it’s good to see him as she then walks away. Johnny asks if it was something he said. Chanel says no and says nevermind. Johnny brings up hearing that Abe appointed Paulina as the new Mayor. Chanel confirms that means she gets to reopen the Bakery. Johnny guesses she must be busy getting things ready. Chanel informs him that she actually has a date and she knows he won’t approve. Johnny then reveals that he knows it’s with Talia since he went by her place and heard them making plans, but he didn’t want to interrupt the moment. Chanel calls that very considerate of him but she’s curious why he stopped by. Johnny reveals that he wanted to talk to her about something but Talia rushes up and interrupts them. Talia tells Chanel that she’s so sorry she’s late but she’s had a day. Chanel tells her not to worry as they can still make it before the concert starts if they hurry. Chanel reminds Johnny that he was about to say something but Johnny claims it was nothing important and tells them to go have a good time. Chanel thanks him and says they’ll talk later as she and Talia then walk away together.

Li and Melinda kiss until he asks if they should take this to the bedroom. Melinda asks if he doesn’t want to finish dinner. Li would rather get to this part of the evening, so Melinda rips open his shirt and agrees that it’s lustful desire as they continue kissing. They stop to grab the wine and then head to the bedroom.

Nicole asks EJ if Melinda said why he shouldn’t marry her. EJ says she was very cryptic about it and then she was called away and said he’d find out another time. Nicole calls that bizarre. EJ doesn’t suppose she has any idea what she was talking about. Nicole mentions that Melinda was pissed off when she caught her tampering with a witness during Rafe’s trial but that was over a year ago. EJ suggests it has nothing to do with her and that Melinda was just playing mind games. Nicole guesses Melinda wants them to be as miserable as she is and suggests forgetting about it which EJ agrees with and then they feel the baby kick again. Nicole still can’t believe this is happening for them. They say I love you to each other and kiss.

Eric and Kayla have Sloan checked out. Sloan says she’s fine but worried about the baby. Eric asks Kayla how it’s looking and if the baby is okay. Kayla responds that she’s sorry but there’s no heartbeat as she reveals the baby didn’t make it. Eric and Sloan then both begin to cry.

Melinda shows up in a panic at Sloan’s door. Sloan comments on not expecting to see her while Melinda frantically asks if Eric is home. Sloan says he’s not so Melinda hurries inside and reminds Sloan that she said she would owe her a favor. Sloan calls it extortion. Melinda says she doesn’t care what she calls it and declares that her first payment is due today.

Nicole enters the living room of the DiMera Mansion where she notes an odd look on EJ’s face, so she asks what happened. EJ then informs Nicole that Victor is dead.

Shawn is drinking at the bar when Eric walks in and says he heard about Victor and he’s real sorry, guessing that Shawn has heard too.

Outside the Pub, Belle asks Chloe if she’s really considering accepting Xander’s proposal. Chloe confirms she told him that she needed time to think about it, but so far she hasn’t found a reason to say no. Brady then approaches so Chloe asks how long he’s been standing there. Brady says long enough.

Xander goes to the Kiriakis Mansion and enters the living room, looking for Maggie, but instead he finds Sarah, who turns around, revealing to Xander that she is pregnant which shocks him. Xander points out that she’s really pregnant and asks how he’s just finding out about this. Sarah states that she just got here to be there for her mom. Xander questions her not calling him or sending an e-mail. Sarah asks him to keep it down because Maggie is trying to rest and isn’t doing okay. Xander says he’s sorry and he knows how much Maggie loved Victor. Sarah acknowledges that he did too, so she’s really sorry for his loss. Xander asks if she’s kidding by offering him condolences and asks her to explain why she didn’t tell him that she’s having his baby.

Chloe questions Brady spying on her while Brady questions her needing time to consider marrying a kidnapping Neanderthal who left her with a drug lord. Belle offers to leave them but Chloe tells Brady that this is none of his business. Brady asks if Xander is drugging Chloe to get her to forget how he treats people. Brady complains that he went to see Xander to apologize for kissing her and he hit him because that’s who he is. Chloe points out that Xander didn’t know about that. Chloe argues that Victor is dead and all he could find to do was fight about her.

Eric asks Shawn why Belle isn’t here with him. Shawn argues that it doesn’t matter and that Victor is dead either way. Eric comments on Shawn not taking this well. Shawn blames himself which Eric questions. Shawn argues that Victor was on the plane because he put Bo in a coma and now he had to spend his last four months of his life miserable and now he’s dead because of him. Eric argues that it doesn’t make sense. Shawn asks who the hell asked him.

EJ apologizes to Nicole for blurting it out like that and admits he was pretty shocked himself. Nicole says it’s okay as she had to find out. Nicole asks what happened. EJ explains that he was flying back from Greece and his plane went down. Nicole calls that horrible and she can’t believe it’s hitting her so hard. EJ understands it’s shocking and acknowledges that Nicole was married to Victor, so he’s sure there were some good memories from that time. Nicole responds that there actually weren’t as they weren’t exactly a love match. Nicole then flashes back to her marriage to Victor. Nicole can’t believe the things Victor said to her still sting after all these years. EJ wonders if Victor and Stefano have caught up in the great beyond yet, joking that they can torment each other for eternity. Nicole comments that they loved to hate each other.

Melinda informs Sloan that Abe is going to reclaim his job as mayor. Sloan asks if Abe got his memory back. Melinda explains that it’s a scam as he’s going to reclaim the position long enough to appoint his successor; Paulina, which shocks Sloan. Sloan asks how the hell Paulina is qualified. Melinda has no idea but says it’s definitely happening. Melinda brings up that she went after Paulina and Chanel pretty hard for what happened to Sloan’s parents, so now she worries that Paulina is going to fire her because she hates her. Sloan remarks that payback’s a bitch and asks how she’s going to fight her off. Melinda says she’ll have a headlining grabbing case and a high profile defendant; the attempt on Stefan DiMera’s life and the man behind it: Li Shin. Sloan comments that it sounds surefire if she had any proof but she already failed at that. Melinda is not worried about no proof being the only thing standing in her way, because that’s where Sloan comes in.

Eric suggests to Shawn that they get some air instead of doing this in public, reminding him that he had just gotten suspended for drinking. Shawn points out that he came back from that and got promoted, so he jokes that if he keeps it up, maybe they’ll make him Mayor. Eric warns that if Shawn keeps this up, he could lose Belle. Shawn suggests Eric go see if Sloan has any cravings and get the hell out of here.

EJ asks Nicole if she has any cravings. Nicole jokes that she can’t drink so he’ll have to drink enough for both of them. Nicole remarks that Victor was such a son of a bitch who treated her worse than dirt, but like she deserved. Nicole then admits that she is going to miss Victor and she can’t think about Salem without him. EJ states that Victor was so damn alive. Nicole adds that Victor was funny and it’s infuriating because he would say something awful to her but she had to try not to laugh. Nicole admits she tried to say scathing things back to him but she was no match for him. Nicole adds that she’s sure EJ is really enjoying her talking about her ex-husband. EJ says he doesn’t mind her going on about anything and says he’s never close to bored with her. EJ suggests they get married now. Nicole asks why since they haven’t planned anything and don’t even know where they are getting married. EJ feels none of that matters and they should just get married and live every day like their last. EJ wants to use everything from their past failed marriages to make this work. EJ jokes that he’ll stop being an imperious jerk while Nicole stays exactly the same. EJ says they could have the time of their lives.

Sloan tells Melinda that she’s not a detective and asks how she’s supposed to dig up dirt on Li when she couldn’t. Melinda clarifies that she needs her talents as a lawyer, specifically to be Li’s lawyer. Sloan doesn’t understand how that would help her. Melinda admits that it won’t and tells Sloan to think it through. Sloan then realizes that Melinda wants her to help her convict her own client.

Brady tells Chloe that there was no fight and that they put it all aside when they started talking about Victor and they actually hugged, which he’s sure Victor got a good laugh about it. Brady asks Belle how Shawn is taking it. Belle admits he’s taking it pretty badly and is blaming himself. Belle wishes Shawn would’ve been with Brady and Xander, so they could’ve shown him how wrong he is.

Xander tells Sarah that he knows they are divorced, but that’s still his kid and she has no right to keep it from him. Xander asks if Victor hadn’t died, how long he would’ve had to wait or if she ever would’ve told him. Xander questions her not telling him that he’s going to be a father. Sarah then responds that he’s not going to be a father and it’s none of his business because the baby isn’t his, it’s Rex’s. Xander questions Rex getting her pregnant and argues that she looks like she’s ready to deliver and far enough along that she had to get pregnant before she left Salem. Sarah explains that they didn’t get involved until they went to Chicago but there was once in Salem before she moved. Xander continues to question it, pointing out that it was one time with Rex versus all the time they were together which Sarah says she’s trying to forget. Xander argues that the odds are overwhelming that he’s the father and asks how she can be so sure that he’s not.

Belle says she has something to take care of and tells Brady to stop badgering Chloe about Xander because it’s not productive. Brady promises to do so. Belle hugs Chloe and tells her to keep her posted as she walks away. Chloe guesses Brady won’t keep his promise. Brady asks how he can. Brady admits part of his reaction is jealousy but argues that he knows who Xander is and that he’s dangerous. Brady adds that Xander didn’t propose because he’s in love with her but because he can’t have Sarah. Chloe remarks that he says that like it’s a bad thing.

Eric tells Shawn that he’s not leaving without him and offers to drive him home. Shawn tells Eric to leave him the hell alone and continues drinking.

Melinda explains to Sloan that Li will need a lawyer and she’s represented him before so they already have the relationship. Melinda then says Sloan will pass on the information that she gets from Li to her. Sloan complains about the idea of losing her license and giving birth in prison. Melinda tells her not to be so melodramatic. Sloan argues that this is a felony and she’s the district attorney so they will throw the book at her. Melinda shouts that she has no choice and her back is against the wall. Melinda feels when she pulls this off, she’ll be all over the papers so Paulina can’t touch her and if she tries, it will be seen as an abuse of power. Sloan says she can’t be serious. Melinda worries if that if she doesn’t do this, she’ll be out on the street and everything she’s built will be gone. Melinda cries that she will have nothing. Sloan argues that there has to be another way because she can’t do this. Melinda guesses she’s okay with Eric finding out that Nicole is pregnant with his baby then.

Nicole questions EJ wanting to elope tonight. EJ brings up what Salem weddings are like. EJ says they want to be surrounded by people they love and trust, who are happy they are together, and that’s only themselves. Nicole asks if they trust each other. EJ encourages that it could be fun. EJ wants to start being the husband she deserves, tonight.

Sloan questions if Melinda would tell Eric the truth just because she won’t break 10 laws to help her. Melinda argues that she would be the one investigating so no one would find out. Sloan thought they were friends and says she knows Melinda’s back is against the wall but this is too much. Melinda argues that it’s all she needs but Sloan refuses to do it. Melinda asks if she’s going to call her bluff and if she thinks she won’t tell Eric. Sloan hopes that she won’t but feels even if she does, it won’t go her way because her and Eric are growing closer every day. Sloan adds that Nicole is not the only one carrying Eric’s baby, so he might be upset but he won’t leave her and they will work through it. Melinda understands she wants that to be true but questions if she’s willing to risk it.

Shawn and Eric get in to a shoving match until Belle arrives and questions what’s going on. Eric calls it a friendly disagreement and says now that Belle is there, he’ll get going. Shawn reminds Eric that he asked him to stop. Eric tells Shawn that he still owes him and walks out of the bar. Belle asks if Shawn is okay. Shawn complains that everyone keeps asking him that and questions what the hell she’s doing there. Shawn then guesses that Eric called her and calls him a nosy son of a bitch. Belle states that Eric called because he cares and that’s who he is, where if something is wrong, he’s going to try to make it right.

Nicole questions EJ again about wanting to elope now. EJ confirms that he can call the DiMera Jet to take them where ever. Nicole questions him wanting to fly to Italy tonight. EJ says she can bring her daughter Holly and notes that his daughter Sydney is there so they can be flower girls. Nicole points out that would be involving Sami. EJ jokes about rubbing Sami’s nose in it. EJ encourages her to think of how beautiful they could make it, with no distractions or interruptions as if Salem doesn’t exist. EJ asks if Nicole is a little bit tempted as they kiss. Nicole then tells EJ to call the damn plane.

Sarah tells Xander that Victor is dead and Maggie is an absolute wreck, so she doesn’t feel up to being grilled about something that has nothing to do with him. Xander asks again how she can be so sure. Sarah argues that weeks went by between her and Xander being together and her sleeping with Rex. Sarah claims that’s why she and Rex are together now because they decided it was fate and questions why Xander even cares since he’s with Chloe now and Maggie and Bonnie said it’s pretty serious. Xander confirms that he just asked Chloe to marry him.

Brady questions Chloe being okay with being Xander’s second choice. Chloe clarifies that Xander’s past with Sarah is part of who he is, just like her past with Brady and Philip being part of who she is. Chloe acknowledges that she’s not with Brady because of the mess with Rachel and she’s not with Philip because he’s gone, while Xander fell in love with who she is after that. Chloe declares that there is nothing standing in their way. Brady says except for him and warns that next time, he might punch Xander back. Brady argues that everything Chloe said sounds like a rationalization and calls that a hell of a way to start a lifetime commitment. Chloe calls that unfair. Brady argues that he just wants her to wake up and asks if she’s even thought about why she hasn’t been able to say yes yet. Brady tells Chloe there’s a reason and she can still say no. Chloe argues that she doesn’t have time for this and storms off.

Belle tells Shawn that she came because he lost his grandfather and because she’s so scared that he’s going to spiral down out of guilt again. Belle encourages him of the progress he’s made with Marlena and asks him not to throw that all away. Shawn complains that no therapy will change the fact that this is his fault. Belle doesn’t think drinking is going to help and that it will just hurt the people that love him. Shawn respond that he just doesn’t think he’s as strong as she and Eric think he is.

Sloan argues that Melinda doesn’t think Eric will forgive her because she doesn’t forgive anyone for anything but they are not alike. Sloan believes if she explains it, Eric will understand. Melinda warns that she’s making a mistake. Sloan tells Melinda to go. Sloan then announces that she is telling Eric as soon as he gets back, so Melinda will no longer have a hold over her. Melinda warns Sloan not to do it because she will lose him if she does. Sloan says that’s her problem, not Melinda’s as Melinda then leaves the apartment.

EJ tells Nicole he spoke too soon as he finds out that Dimitri took the DiMera Jet on his honeymoon to Iceland and it’s too late for a commercial flight. Nicole asks if that means eloping is off. EJ says it’s not and they will just elope to Salem. EJ tells her that he will go to City Hall to get the forms for the license and after that, they’ll get married as soon as he can make it happen as they kiss. EJ says he shall return and then exits the mansion.

Sarah questions Xander marrying Chloe and remarks that it was fast. Xander says not as fast as Sarah and Rex. Sarah responds that they had motivation. Sarah asks when the big day is. Xander admits that Chloe’s still thinking about it, but he’s certain that she’s going to say yes sooner than later because she loves him for who he is and is very understanding of everything he’s done. Sarah remarks that she must have no standards, then apologizes and says that was uncalled for. Sarah asks if they are done here and says she’ll tell Maggie that he stopped by but it’s been a long day and she’s exhausted. Xander wishes her and Rex all the best with the baby, then tells her to let him know if it pops out with a Scottish accent. Xander then exits the mansion.

Shawn tells Belle that she said what she came to say and he loves that she has so much faith in him, but he’s not going anywhere, so he asks her to just leave him in peace. Belle refuses to go anywhere because her place is with him. Belle says he can drink himself into oblivion if he needs, but he’s not going to do it alone.

Brady sits alone in the Brady Pub and thinks back to Victor instructing him to steal Chloe away from Philip. Brady remarks that Victor was wrong about Chloe, but he wishes he was still around so he could prove it to him.

Chloe goes home frustrated. Xander greets her inside. Chloe asks if he went to see Maggie. Xander says no because she was resting, so he’ll just go see her tomorrow. Chloe never thought Victor was good enough for Maggie, but admits they were crazy about each other and she was so devoted to him. Chloe adds that she’s been thinking a lot about Maggie and how in spite of Victor’s past and things she disapproved of, she took a chance and went ahead and married him. Xander points out that it worked out for them and they were very happy together. Xander asks if that’s inspired her. Chloe confirms that she has been inspired to emulate Maggie and say yes to Xander. Chloe declares that she can’t wait to be his wife as they kiss.

Sarah sits alone in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion. She grabs her phone and calls Rex. She tells him it’s hard and that Maggie’s really struggling but that’s not why she’s calling. Sarah then says yes to Rex’s proposal and says the sooner, the better.

Xander puts the ring on Chloe’s finger and they continue kissing.

Nicole sits alone in the living room of the DiMera Mansion and thinks back to Victor pushing her out of a window. Nicole remarks that at least this time, it has to be better than that.

EJ walks past the Brady Pub and bumps in to Melinda Trask, who tells him to watch where he’s going. EJ says he could say the same but he will just apologize because he has to get going to get marriage forms for he and Nicole. Melinda stops him and asks if he’s sure he wants to do that. EJ questions what that is supposed to mean.

Eric goes home to Sloan’s apartment and asks if she has any wine open because he just squandered the last half hour trying to get Shawn to stop drinking, but now he’d kill for a drink. Eric adds that Belle is with him now, so maybe she’ll get through to him. Eric then asks Sloan what’s wrong and if something happened. Sloan responds that there is something she has to tell him.
