Recap written by Christine

Victoria found her office filled with pink red and white roses, courtesy of Ashland. He loved her and was grateful to have her in his life. She gave him a ring. The symbol on the ring was the crest of a Scottish lord called Roger Loch. She knew that wasn’t Ashland’s given name, but she thought it represented who he was now. He was touched that she researched the name and tracked it down. He said he’d cherish the ring forever. They hugged, and he said there were a dozen reasons he didn’t deserve her love, but he thanked God she came into her life. He bought her a Necklace with a V shape design. She loved it. He said his illness and getting better showed him that he should never miss an opportunity to celebrate the good days in life. He proposed they cancel the rest of the work day and celebrate. She accepted.

Victor wrapped up a call with Michael as Nikki entered the living room. Victor revealed that Michael had unearthed something. The cash flow from Ashland’s shell company to the clinic in Peru doubled just before he and Victoria went there for the experimental treatment. Nikki didn’t see why that was suspicious – company cash flow increased and decreased all the time. Victor would normally agree, but in this case, he smelled a rat. Something about Ashland’s story didn’t add up. Nikki didn’t understand why Victor was stirring things up with Ashland and Victoria today of all days. She wondered if he even remembered what today was. He asked if she thought she’d forget Valentine’s day, the day in which he could show her his love again. She wanted him to put aside the cloak and dagger maneuvering and take her to lunch. First he wanted to take her to the stables. She wondered what he’d done, and he smiled.

Nikki and Victor went to Society, and Victor and Ashland arrived. Victor insisted that his daughter and son in law join them. Victoria and Ashland showed off their gifts to each other. Victor noted that Ashland had no ties to the Lochs in Scotland. Victoria said the ring was about who Ashland was now and their marriage and partnership at Newman Locke. Victor toasted to Ashland’s miraculous recovery. Victoria said she couldn’t have asked for a better gift. Victor and Ashland locked eyes.

Nikki said Victor got her a five year old thoroughbred named Sparks. She put her hand in his and said he continued to spoil her with spectacular horses. Ashland said Victor knew the way to Nikki’s heart. Victoria put her hand in Ashland’s and said Victor wasn’t the only one who understood and appreciated his wife. Victor said it was wonderful to see how in love Victoria and Ashland seemed. Victoria questioned the word “seemed.” She said of course they were in love. Victor claimed he just meant it warmed his heart, because Victoria’s happiness meant everything to him.

Nikki and Victor went home, and she noted that she didn’t have his undivided attention during their romantic lunch. He said he wasn’t going to ignore their daughter. She thought he’d been more focused on Ashland. She worried he was looking for something that wasn’t there or something that should remain in the past, like Ashland’s other secrets. He said whatever was happening at the clinic was in the present. She reminded him how destructive it was for the family the first time he dug into Ashland’s past. She noted that he then welcomed Ashland into the family. He said he was a chess player, and he thought many moves ahead everyone else. She just didn’t understand what he hoped to accomplish by digging into Ashland’s treatment. She said Victoria was finally happy, and she asked if he doubted Ashland’s love for their daughter. He said that if something was going on regarding Ashland and that treatment, he was going to find out about it. Later, they danced, and he kissed her cheek.

Ashland and Victoria were back at her office. He stared out the window, and she noted that he’d been very quiet. He was sure she must’ve noticed Victor’s eagle eye had been trained on him. She thought that her father was just glad to see that Ashland was doing well. Ashland thought it was more than that. He said Victor called him to the ranch and questioned him about his experimental treatment. Ashland said he knew about the protocol because he had a colleague who was treated at the clinic in Peru a few years ago for cancer. Victoria was shocked Ashland knew about the clinic before. He said he gave the clinic funding. She reminded him that they’d researched options together. She asked if he pretended to learn about the protocol for the first time when he knew about it all along. When they were looking into the treatment, she’d checked the funding sources for the clinic, and his name never came up. He said he set up the funding through a shell corporation.

You promised me in Tuscany that there would be no more secrets between us. And now you’re saying that you kept this from me? How could you,” Victoria demanded. Ashland said he was trying to protect her. He was concerned about the legal ramifications, and he was trying to shield her from any potential tax violation fall out. He didn’t even know the treatment was going to work, but she’d been encouraging him to try anything and everything to beat the cancer. She said of course she did, and she was glad she did. He asked if she would’ve told him not to pursue treatment at the clinic if she’d known about his involvement in it. It was hard for her to answer that, because, once again, he didn’t give her the option. He said if it weren’t for Victor, he wouldn’t tell her about this. She felt like all his promises that there would be no more secrets were meaningless. He insisted he was trying to protect her. She thought that was a weak excuse, and she expected better from him. He said he loved her more than anything, and he owed her his life. He begged her forgiveness. She didn’t think it was fair that he withheld this from her, but she thought what mattered the most was that he was doing better. He said he had something to live for now – her. They sat together, and she took his hand.

Amanda wished Devon a happy Valentine’s day and gave him a card. He felt bad because he forgot, with all he had going on. She understood, because she knew he was worried about the baby. He kept thinking about the way Dominic cried when he got the test and looked up at them like he didn’t understand why they were letting this happen to him. Amanda comforted Devon and told him he was doing right by Dom. She suggested he take the day off, but he thought if he did that, he’d obsess over the results. He revealed that he did order her something for Valentine’s Day, but he didn’t order it in time. She said she didn’t need a grand romantic gesture to know he loved her, because she felt it every day in every way.

Billy was sleeping on his couch when Lily tickled his nose with a rose to wake him up. Then she hopped on top of him and they shared a kiss. When he began to unbutton her shirt, she pulled away, reminding him that it was a work day. He pulled her into another kiss. He said that they worked from home, so they could do things no one else had to know about. There was a knock on the door, and she panicked because she remembered she was meeting Devon. Billy was more calm about it all, saying that her brother would understand, but Lily said there were things a brother shouldn’t know. She hastily threw the blanket off the couch while he readjusted his clothes. Billy opened the door, and Devon came in and saw Lily smoothing her shirt. He offered to come back later, but she said this was a good time. Lily assumed that things were okay with the baby, but Devon clarified that Dom had to get a bone marrow aspiration. She offered to cancel, but he said that he’d rather have the company.

Devon and Lily discussed a joint venture between their companies to honor Katherine and Neil. She wanted to use his streaming service to air Chancellor Industries’ podcast. She wanted the podcasts to be educational, inspirational and some inspired by music. Devon was intrigued, but he wanted specifics. Billy said he’d been having trouble sleeping, and he had a bunch of ideas bouncing around his head. He thought he came up with the perfect idea.

Billy said Lily was amazing and she made him want to be better. He had it good, but he still had these thoughts running around in his head. He said life wasn’t easy – people lost their jobs and their loved ones. He knew he wasn’t the only one going through this. He had an idea for a platform of self-help podcasts centered around physical and mental health. He thought Neil and Katherine would appreciate that and love seeing them work together. Devon loved the idea that Billy had taken something personal and applied it to people’s lives. Devon couldn’t wait to get started on this. He wanted to get Moses working on it as part of his internship too. Devon got a call that was apparently about a Valentine’s gift for Amanda. He told Lily and Billy that he dropped the ball on Valentine’s day and was trying to salvage it. He left. Lily and Billy were excited about how things went with Devon. He said maybe the restless nights had paid off. She loved the creativity that came out of his insomnia. She’d been worried. He knew she and Jack thought his sleeping issues were about ChanComm and Adam and Victor, and it wasn’t. She was sorry her mind went there. He shifted gears and said he wanted to get back to where they were before her brother came, and they kissed. Later, they cuddled on the couch.

Devon went home with flowers and balloons and a gift bag. Amanda was there cooking him a surprise dinner so that he could relax. She didn’t want him to come in the kitchen, because she’d made a huge mess. He said he’d help her clean up. He kissed a smudge on her face, then he began to kiss her neck. They danced.

Sally entered Adam’s office and saw a big bouquet of roses champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. She told him it was inappropriate. He was just about to say the same thing to her. She said she wasn’t there to ask him to be her valentine, and if she was, she wouldn’t do it in such a traditional way. She reminded him how she handled the not-New Year’s Eve celebration. He wondered who sent this stuff. She suggested Chelsea. He didn’t think so. He read the card, and it was from an advertiser. She bit into a strawberry, and the sight captivated him. She noticed that he was transfixed on her, and she apologized and stopped eating the berry. He had a work gift for her – the PR team was putting together a press release about her new title. She said that if he thought her new role was a gift, they needed to talk. He was talking about the press release, not the title. He said it was a bad choice of words. She laughed and admitted she was just giving him a hard time. She wanted him to specify what he expected from her. She asked if she’d have agency and autonomy in this role, or if he just wanted a yes-woman.

Adam wasn’t looking for a yes-woman. He valued Sally’s point of view. He wanted to be challenged, and he was excited about the partnership because he knew she wouldn’t hold back. She noted that she never ran a media company before. He saw similarities between the media business and the fashion world. He said media companies needed people to watch their content, and designers wanted people to wear their clothes. He thought part of the reason she was successful at building the fashion platform was that she knew how to attract people – it was about enticement and seduction, and he knew she could shine. She said she could also crunch numbers well and do spreadsheets, but she agreed that convincing people that they wanted something was her super-power.

Adam admired Sally’s confidence, but he didn’t want her to think this would be easy. He said they had to answer to Victoria and Ashland, and they’d be under Victor’s watchful eye. He said they had to be at the top of their game, because Victoria would use any misstep as an excuse to kick them to the curb. He said getting people to actually read or watch a story would be harder than getting them to listen to fashion gossip, because there were a lot of news outlets out there, and Newman Media had to be the best. She said they’d hire the best storytellers. She said a good story was a good story, and that was what hooked people. He said she had good instincts and a lot of passion.

Sally was excited about the challenge of the obstacles. This morning, when she woke up, she’d worried she was in over her head, but she gave herself a pep talk. She said she’d rather try and fail than not try at all. He told her not to worry about failing, because they could do this. He poured champagne, and she said she’d sip it as long as they agreed they were toasting to work and not Valentine’s day. He said he’d never insult her by celebrating a major holiday. He toasted to her growing success. She thanked him for taking a risk on her. She knew she wasn’t the logical choice. He said it went both ways, because God knows how many people warned her off him. “To two wrongs making something very right,” she said, and they toasted again.

Recap written by Christine

Lily was exhausted after a long day working from home, but Billy was still feeling wired, so he wasn’t ready to go to bed. She was concerned about his insomnia, but he didn’t want her to worry. He said he’d come to bed soon. She went upstairs. He wondered what was going on with him. He went online for tips about falling asleep. He read about setting aside time to process, reflect and meditate on his thoughts. He had a stiff drink and wondered what he needed to process. He pulled out his phone and made a recording of him talking to himself, playing therapist and patient. He said he had everything, lost almost everything, and he got all of it back except the thing he missed the most – Delia. He wondered if he’d learned anything.

Billy wondered if he was awake because he was worried he couldn’t break free of his past, or break free of who he really was. He said his inner monologue constantly reminded him of the dumb things he said and the smart things he didn’t do. He held out hope, but he wondered what he was hoping for. Billy told himself that two or three years ago, he couldn’t stand to be in his own skin. Lily came downstairs and overheard Billy say he was in a great place and so much of that had to do with her. He wondered why he was feeling restless and unsettled. He asked himself if there was something that was eating away at him. If so, did he want to find it? Billy turned around and saw Lily. She was sorry for intruding. He said she wasn’t. She asked if he was worried about why he wasn’t sleeping. He thought worried was too strong of a word, but he was intrigued. He explained that he was doing a sort of therapist’s session, and he wanted to let her hear part of it. She thought his thought should stay private since it was like therapy, but he said there was no part of his life he wanted to keep private from her.

He played her a part of the recording when he talked about deciding to let go of the grudge with Adam and continuing to be the bigger man. He’d asked if he could continue to be the man and he said something still seemed to be missing. She thanked him for playing that for her. It was revealing to her to hear him talk about the darker parts of his history. She asked if it bothered him to relive it all. He said no. he said maybe it would’ve in a past relationship, but it didn’t with her. He trusted her, and it felt cathartic and kind of liberating. She was impressed with how far he’d come. He said his progress was directly linked to her. He was excited about how far they’d go together. She kissed him and went back to bed.

Billy wondered what he’d discovered about himself. “If everything is as good as you say it is, are you worried about screwing it up again?,” he asked. He said he’d always been a one step up, two steps down kind of guy. He felt he could change that. He said Lily was great for him, and she called him on his BS like he needed, and she loved him. He said that letting go of the constant need for revenge was the right choice. He needed the courage to acknowledge the great place he was in and change for the better.

Abby was on edge because of Dominic’s symptoms, and Chance was sure things would be okay. He said that Devon wouldn’t have gone home otherwise. The waiting was excruciating for Abby. Chance wanted her to try to sleep. Abby didn’t understand why Dominic’s red blood cell count was suddenly so low that he’d need an invasive test like a bone marrow aspiration. She knew the procedure was painful, and she was scared the baby would get an infection or a have an allergic reaction, which was a risk. They hugged as he comforted her. He saw no point in dwelling on the worst case scenario. He was worried too, but he said they had to stay strong for their boy. He suggested she go take a bath to unwind. She thanked him for taking care of her even though he was dealing with so much. He said she’d been so patient and understanding with him. He thought they had to keep leaning on each other and doing what was best for Dom and for themselves. She went upstairs. He called Rey to apologize for missing work today. Rey said family trumped work and he asked how the baby was. Chance said they’d know more in the morning. He asked about the case Rey was working on. Rey said his day wasn’t over, and he was still dealing with the case. Chance decided the case would be a good distraction to Dominic’s situation, so he decided to meet with Rey to talk about it.

Chance told Dominic that he needed to be okay. He promised to do whatever it took to get Dominic through this. He said he’d be there for Dom and Abby. Chance wanted Dom to trust him. Chance was doing everything he could to get back on track, and he promised to be the best dad he could be. Chance thought he needed to go back to the force and focus on work.

Abby came downstairs, and Chance said he got Dominic back to sleep. He wanted to go meet Rey if that was okay with her. She said it was fine. She recalled him saying it’d help him deal with his trauma to go back to work. She told him to be careful, and he said he would.

Chelsea tossed and turned in bed at the Grand Phoenix. She remembered Adam saying it’d be a mistake to get back together. She recalled asking him if he was falling for Sally Spectra and saying that Sally didn’t deserve him. She called Chloe and said she couldn’t sleep. She thought they could go over their proposal for Lauren. Chloe couldn’t come over because Bella was awake after a nightmare, due to a scary movie Kevin let her watch.

Chelsea went to Crimson Lights and chatted with Rey. She was trying to wind down. He thought he might have to go on a stakeout, so he was trying to keep his mind active just in case. Chelsea said it must make Sharon nervous that Rey was out all night risking his life. Rey said that Sharon had come to terms with the crazy hours, but he thought saying he was risking his life was a bit of an overstatement, especially tonight. Chelsea said she and her mom went on a stakeout once, while watching a mark. He thought that must’ve been scary for a kid. She said it wasn’t, because she didn’t know any different. She said her mom would stay up all night plotting about how to sucker some gullible guy. He thought that sounded lonely for a kid. She said it was, but she and Anita were a team. Anita taught her not to trust outsiders. It wasn’t until Chelsea was older that the reality of it all started to set in.

Chelsea asked if Rey always wanted to be a cop. He did. He’d always been on the lookout for danger, because he felt responsible for his mother, brother and sister. When his dad went missing, Rey became obsessed with what happened to him. It turned out that his father wasn’t missing, he was just off having another affair. Rey never forgot the rush of solving the mystery and tracking down the clues. He asked what set her down her path. She said she became a con artist because it was all she knew, and she was good at it. When she got pregnant with Johnny, she knew she had to change. Even though she wasn’t going to raise Johnny, she knew she had to do better in her life. She knew she made mistakes since then, but she’d let that part of her life go, because Connor needed her. Rey could see that Chelsea changed, and he thought it was admirable, because some people never did. She was feeling like it was pointless because she was still lonely and alone. He said she had her son, and she wasn’t going to raise him the way Anita raised her.

Chelsea was telling Rey about a con that she and Anita ran when Chance walked in. He said he’d heard about some of her past from Adam, and it fascinated him. He wanted to hear the story. Chelsea said the statute of limitations had past, then she continued her story. Chelsea had pretended to be a princess to swindle someone. Chance thought it was impressive that Chelsea walked away from that life. She said she had to for her son. She said a lot of people still judged her for her past, but Rey wasn’t one of those people. He said he’d seen how hard she worked to rebuild her life. He got texted and he had to go back to work. Chelsea thanked Rey for the conversation, and she wished him luck with the stakeout. Chance was going on the stakeout too, and he was eager to do so.

Chelsea went home and got on the couch to sleep instead of the bed. She had a dream that Rey showed up and told her that he found her and her dark past mesmerizing, and he kissed her. Chelsea jolted awake.

Rey and Chance hid in an alley to wait for the robbers. Rey asked about Chance. Chance explained about the bone marrow aspiration. He’d been telling Abby not to jump to the worst case scenario, but he was having a hard time following his own advice. There was nothing worse than the worry you felt when your kid was going through something. Rey got a case of that when Faith got into a car accident and needed a kidney transplant. And also with Connor, because he’d been so sad when Rey was spending time with him. He knew it wasn’t the same when it was your own child. Chance said that Faith was Rey’s stepdaughter, and he loved her. He knew Rey wanted to protect her. He was sure Chelsea was grateful Rey had been there for Connor. He said Connor was a good kid. They saw someone disabling the security system, and Rey said he’d go one way, and he wanted Chance to wait then go around the other side. Rey left. Chance heard glass breaking, and he started breathing heavily.

When Chance got home, Abby was sleeping on the couch. She woke up and asked if everything was okay. She thought he’d be out all night. He said everything was fine and that he just felt like his place was here with her and Dom.

Recap written by Christine

Victoria and Nikki had a work meeting at Society. Nikki had some questions about Victoria’s plans for Newman Media. Victoria wanted to ask Ashland what he thought before making a decision. Victoria said he was feeling much better and he wanted to sink his teeth into this part of the business. She said he was particularly interested in how the merger turned out. Nikki thought that was because he didn’t trust Adam. Victoria didn’t blame him. Nikki couldn’t believe Victoria agreed to bring Adam on board. Victoria said Victor insisted on it. Nikki hoped Adam’s recent show of humility was sincere, but she had her concerns. Victoria said she and Ashland shared those concerns.

Lily was outside Society when she called Billy, who was in Crimson Lights. She was disappointed because an executive she had plans to promote was leaving the company. Lily saw Nikki inside the restaurant and told Billy there was something she had to do. Lily went inside. Victoria had already left. Lily asked to pick Nikki’s brain. Nikki hoped Lily didn’t need advice on handling Jill, because that wasn’t one of her strengths. Lily said she and Jill got along fine. There had been many times over the past couple months that Lily wished she could call Katherine. Nikki felt that way practically every day. Lily figured the next best thing would be to talk to someone who knew Katherine best. Lily had an image of Katherine as a tough-as-nails businesswoman who was never wrong. Nikki said Katherine was wrong plenty of times. Lily wanted to know if the rest of the image was right. Nikki said Katherine never put a show on for anyone, and she never set out to be a business mogul. The company became Katherine’s responsibility when Phillip died, and at first she let others run it, then she took over. Katherine was ahead of her time, and she loved it when people underestimated each other. Katherine had fun shaking things up. Nikki said Katherine would advise Lily to have fun too. Lily had a vision for Chancellor, but it had such a rich history, with amazing business people who’d run it, including her dad. She felt presumptuous thinking she was in their league. Nikki said Lily was definitely in that league, and Neil was the best mentor she could’ve had. Lily wished she could call him too. Nikki was sure Lily still heard Neil’s voice, because Nikki did. Nikki said to trust what Neil said. Nikki didn’t want anyone to know she said this, but she said to trust Jill’s judgment. Nikki knew Lily would make Neil, Katherine and Jill proud.

Victor was at his chess set when Michael texted. He was in Peru, and he’d gone to the clinic. Dropping Ashland’s name opened doors. So far, the financial ties were unconfirmed. Victor told Michael he was doing a good job and to stay on it.

A voiceover announced that the role of Ashland Locke is now being played by Robert Newman.

Ashland was in Victoria’s office when Adam walked in. Adam assumed Ashland was working because his health was improving. Ashland preferred to see it the other way around. He thought that his health was improving because he was working again. Adam said he was always glad to get Ashland’s input on Newman Media, as a member of the board. Adam thought things would be even better now that he and Ashland were on the same team. Ashland was glad that was Adam’s attitude, because he intended to give Adam a lot of input now that now that Newman Media was part of Newman Locke.

Ashland thought Adam must be excited about all the new possibilities for Newman Media. Adam said more resources didn’t always mean new opportunities. Ashland knew Adam never anticipated answering to Victoria, but Ashland said this was a scintillating time to be part of Newman Locke. He thought that Adam would one day look back at this moment and be glad he came aboard. Adam thought Ashland and Victoria would look back at this moment and be glad Adam stuck around. Ashland burst out laughing. Adam said he’d done a damn good job at Newman Media, and Ashland never had any complaints before. Ashland conceded the point, but he stated that things would be changing because Adam wasn’t the sole decision maker anymore. Adam was aware Victor wanted more say and that Victoria would occasionally make decisions. Ashland said Victoria wouldn’t be the only one who had a say, and it wouldn’t just be occasionally. “Adam, we own the company. We will be charting its course and giving it direction. Not the other way around,” Ashland said. He added that if Adam wasn’t comfortable with that, he could move on.

Adam didn’t understand why Ashland was taking this tone with him, since they’d always had a solid working relationship. Ashland hoped they’d continue to have that, but he thought it was important for Adam to know where things stood. Ashland thought this was an excellent opportunity for Adam. Adam recalled Victor saying the same thing about the sale on multiple occasions. Ashland said they’d give Adam the benefit of the doubt, but insubordination would not be tolerated. Adam noted that Ashland was talking like he was Victoria’s equal partner in running Newman Locke. “That’s exactly what I am,” Ashland replied. Adam wanted to know why Ashland was suddenly taking this hard line approach with him. “Is this because I’m in less favor with Victor these days?,” Adam asked. Ashland said he hadn’t given a moment’s thought to Adam’s relationship with Victor. “This is business. The world doesn’t revolve around you. And now neither does Newman Media,” Ashland said. Adam couldn’t wait to show Ashland how wrong he was. Victoria walked in and asked what was going on.

Ashland said it was nothing to worry about, just battle lines being drawn. Victoria didn’t like the sound of that. Adam said he and Ashland were just making a friendly bet about how long Adam would last under the new regime. “I’ll take the under,” Victoria replied. Adam said he hired Sally as his COO. Victoria was skeptical about Sally’s skills. Adam said she ran a fashion house in LA and held her own against the big boys out there. Adam listed Sally’s assets. Ashland said Sally was calculating. Victoria asked if Adam forgot what Sally did to their niece. Adam didn’t see how Summer was harmed. Victoria said Nick could clear that up. Adam said Sally wanted a clean slate, and so did he. He felt strongly that she was the right choice. He asked if he had the autonomy to hire and fire whoever he wanted. Victoria said Adam had leeway to make decisions, within reason. She was fine with him hiring Sally, but she said he’d have to train Sally himself. Adam left.

Ashland asked if Victoria was really okay with Sally being so influential. Victoria said Sally was a reckless opportunist, and that could work to Victoria and Ashland’s advantage. He grinned and said she was two steps ahead of everyone. She wanted to know about the battle lines, and he said not to worry about it. Victor called and summoned Ashland to the ranch.

Nikki went home and told Victor that Victoria seemed very relaxed. Nikki thought the improvements in Ashland’s health were helping Victoria. Nikki mentioned her talk with Lily. She thought Jill was smart to bring Lily back to town. “Just the fact that [Lily] knows how to rein in Billy now and then shows her managerial skills,” Nikki said. Victor thought that the fact that Lily got involved with Billy in the first place didn’t speak well of her judgment. Nikki said Lily and Billy were happy, and she couldn’t begrudge them that, especially since Victoria was happily remarried. Victor said Ashland was coming over for a talk. Victor didn’t want to go into detail, but Nikki wanted to know. He swore her to secrecy. He said Ashland didn’t just stumble on the clinic in Peru – he’d known about it for years, and he’d been making donations to it for years. Nikki asked if Ashland was making charitable donations. Victor said that it was a tax dodging scheme. He asked if Victoria ever mentioned anything about Ashland’s connection to the clinic. Nikki didn’t think Victoria knew anything about this. Victor learned Ashland was there, and he gave his staff permission to send him in. when Ashland arrived, Nikki left the room. Victor said it was miraculous that Ashland found his treatment in the nick of time.

Ashland clarified that he knew about the clinic before he got sick, and he’d been one of their benefactors. Years ago, Ashland’s colleague had gone to the clinic for treatment, and the results were fantastic, but the clinic was in danger of losing its funding. Ashland saw it as a matter of life and death, so he wrote a check. Due to international laws, Ashland’s accountant had to be creative about getting the money to Peru, and they used a shell corporation. Victor thought it was a fantastic story – Ashland bailed out the clinic that later saved his life. Ashland said it was karma. Victor said Victoria never told him about this. Ashland said he never told her, because what he did wasn’t technically ethical. He’d jumped to the front of the line to get the treatment. He didn’t want Victoria to worry that it might create an obstacle. Victor said they wanted to protect Victoria above all else. After Ashland was gone, Nikki returned. Victor didn’t know what to think yet. Ashland had an answer for everything, but something was off. The answers Ashland gave were too polished, and it troubled Victor.

Ashland went to Society and ordered a scotch. Someone called from Peru and warned him that an American had come and started asking questions about him. Ashland asked if it was a journalist or PI. Whatever the response was, Ashland said it wasn’t really an answer. The person asked a question. “No. No. This doesn’t change anything. Everything stays the same. Just stick to the plan,” Ashland replied. He guzzled his drink and sighed.

Sally greeted Billy at Society. He said he didn’t recognize her without her ridiculous disguise. She’d hoped he’d gotten over it by now, and he pointed out that it was just two weeks ago. She thought that enough time had passed for them to move on. She was glad his downfall was all an act and that he was doing great – the COO of Chancellor Industries. He heard Victoria got rid of the fashion platform, and he wished Sally luck finding a job. She informed him that Adam was keeping her on, and she’d be COO at Newman Media. Billy was stunned. He guessed her super-spying paid off. She said that had nothing to do with her new job. He sarcastically asked if it was her extensive operations resume. She said she had a lot of business experience, and she ran her own fashion house. He didn’t want to hear it. He thought it was clear that Adam made her second in command because she was willing to do whatever he asked her to. She asked if that was why Lily hired him. “You helped him slander an innocent man by secretly recording him,” he contended. She thought he was misusing the word slander and the word innocent. Sally noted that Billy made it look like he was spiraling out of control in hopes of getting Adam to publish a false story. She thought it was entrapment, and she asked where he got off playing the victim.

Billy said it had been entertaining trying to watch Sally take the high road. He compared it to watching a cat play piano – you couldn’t believe what you were seeing, but you couldn’t take your eyes off it. He said he didn’t trust cats either. He put the plan in motion because Adam cost Billy his reputation and his job. Billy knew the plan would work because Adam loved watching people suffer. Sally said that wasn’t the Adam she knew. She said Adam felt bad that Billy’s life was a wreck, just like she did. He laughed and said she found the strength to keep filming him. Sally didn’t think Adam would’ve taken advantage of Billy’s suffering, which wasn’t real anyway. She didn’t understand why they couldn’t just move on. He wasn’t happy Adam was running ChancComm, the company Billy built. Sally said that Victoria was the one who decided to keep Adam in charge, so Billy should take it up with her. Sally suggested that knowing it was Victoria’s idea would make it easier to swallow. Hearing that it was Victoria’s idea made Billy feel sure that the arrangement wouldn’t last. He wished Sally luck and left.

Lily went home, and Billy was there. Lily was bothered about the employee that jumped ship. Billy thought it was a compliment. He said that this woman got passed over for the top job, and if she thought Lily was going to fail, she would’ve stuck around so she could later swoop in and save the day. Billy said he’d help Lily find a replacement who was excited to work with her, because working at Chancellor should be fun. Lily mentioned that Nikki said the same thing. She explained about the talk with Nikki and asked if he thought it was weird. He said he’d sought Nikki’s advice many times over the years about Victoria, the kids and sobriety. He asked why she went to talk to Nikki. Lily was honored to have the job, but it was overwhelming, and she wanted to live up to the standards set by the CEOs before her. She said to let her know if he didn’t want to hear her concerns. She knew he’d wanted this job.

Billy said Lily knew she could talk to him about anything. She just felt insensitive complaining about the demands of a job he thought he could do in his sleep. He didn’t hold a grudge because his mom picked her. “I did want the job, but you are the right person for this position and I am very happy to be a team player,” he said. He was sure Katherine, Neil and Jill all felt self doubt when they took over, but he said Lily didn’t have to feel that way. He said she was the smartest, savviest, strongest, sexiest CEO the company ever had. She appreciated the pep talk, and they kissed.

Lily thought Billy knew just how to make her feel better. Billy said he knew what to say because he’d lived through it most of his life. He’d felt like he didn’t meet the expectations of John and even Jack, and it was a waste of time. He thought his father would tell Lily not to emulate anyone. He said she had everything she needed to succeed. Lily knew she could do the job, but she had a little anxiety. He said that could be good, because it’d keep her on her toes. She wanted to talk about his insomnia. He said she had enough on his plate. She said their relationship wasn’t one-sided, and she wanted to help. He said she helped by partnering with Hamilton-Winters on the podcast idea. It gave him a creative outlet to think about, and he was sure he’d sleep like a baby tonight.

When Adam got to his office, Sally was there. She vented about Billy. She didn’t understand how people be unhappy after getting everything handed to them and resentful when they heard about other people reaping the benefit of years of hard work. He told her not to worry about anything Billy said. He told her that he went to see Victoria. Sally assumed that Victoria wouldn’t let her have the job. She asked if it was because of the Summer situation, and he said that came up. Sally said she’d take a lower position if that would allow her to stay on at the company. Adam finally clarified that Sally was going to get to be COO. Sally couldn’t believe Adam let her think Victoria rejected her. He knew he shouldn’t have done that. He’d just imagined that when she finally found out she got the job, she’d give him a hug like she did the other day. She thought they agreed not to even think along those lines. He said she was right and to forget he mentioned it.

Recap written by Christine

An apologetic Billy was at home on a business call. He’d overslept. He explained to the caller that he and Lily were working from home while the offices were being renovated.

Amanda ran into Jack at Crimson Lights, and he invited her to join him. She accepted and asked if he’d spoken to Phyllis. He hadn’t yet, but he assumed Summer was keeping her busy. Amanda thought Jack and Phyllis deserved happiness, and Amanda thought it would be together. He did too once, but life was unpredictable, and so was Phyllis. Billy joined them, and it was clear that he was exhausted. He explained he was having trouble sleeping. Jack thought it was because Billy’s life had been turned upside down over the last few weeks – he lost his job and company. Billy said his new job was just as great. Jack wondered if Billy was really happy being second in command at work. Billy said that was fine, and he and Lily were happy at home and at Chancellor. Billy said everything at ChancComm in the past, including Victor and his minions. Billy asked Amanda to confirm that he didn’t care who was in charge back when he was at ChancComm. Amanda supported Billy’s contention and said he’d always been Lily’s biggest cheerleader. Jack still wondered why Billy was so tired. Billy said that his brain was revved up, but that didn’t mean anything nefarious was going on. It was clear from Billy’s tone that he was getting annoyed with Jack.

How dare I impugn your character by showing a little brotherly concern,” Jack said. Billy apologized for being testy, and Jack accepted. Jack wanted to help Billy with his insomnia and asked if he was having bad dreams or trouble falling asleep. Billy was having trouble staying asleep. His mind wouldn’t let his body rest. Jack suggested that Billy’s subconscious was having a hard time with everything he’d gone through. Amanda chimed in that Billy had been through a lot recently, and that kind of stress could stay with you. He asked if she suggested he climb to the rooftop and scream again. Amanda didn’t think his neighbors would appreciate that. Amanda and Billy grinned at each other, prompting Jack to wonder what he was missing. Billy said when he and Amanda were getting to know each other, his favorite release was going to the rooftop of The Grand Phoenix and screaming. He convinced Amanda to try it too. Amanda said she and Billy had grown and moved on from that phase in their lives. Billy agreed and said they were happy, healthy and healed. In Jack’s experience, some wounds appeared to heal, only to open later when you least expected it. He suggested that Billy had some issues he needed to confront.

Jack and Lauren were at Society. He learned that Michael went back to work for Victor. Michael had said the job wouldn’t take up all his time, but the second Victor could, he sent Michael to South America on a secret mission. Jack said that was classic Mustache. Lauren was starting to feel like taking the job was a mistake. Jack said Michael worked for Victor before, and he’d always gotten through it standing tall. Lauren was just aggravated that Victor was dominating Michael’s time. Lauren asked if Jack had any sage advice. He suggested kickboxing, and she laughed and asked if she should picture Victor on the bag. He said there was a time he pictured Victor’s face on every tennis ball he smashed, and it was therapeutic.

Lauren asked how Jack was. He had no complaints. She kept questioning him, and he assumed this was about Phyllis. He said he and Phyllis were going to have dinner when she got back. Lauren wondered if it would be a dinner between friends or if Jack and Phyllis would admit it was time to stop fighting their feelings. He thought it’d just be a dinner. Lauren asked what Jack wanted Phyllis to decide about her future. He kept trying to change the subject, and she wouldn’t let him. He knew she was with him through the whole teardrop of love saga. He’d now decided not to chase romance – if it came to him, then it did, and if it didn’t, he still had an amazing life. After Lauren left, Jack thought about calling Phyllis, but he didn’t.

Abby and Chance were at home looking in on Dominic. She was worried for their son because he was pale and all he did was sleep. Chance reassured Abby, noting that Dominic was awake at the doctor’s office, and he didn’t have any serious symptoms. The doctor was running tests, and Chance was sure they’d come back normal. He brought her coffee, and she said she was grateful he was there with her. He said there was nowhere he’d rather be. She realized he was late for work and told him to go, but he said he’d already called out. He said this was much more important. Abby said that Dominic got the sniffles and a fever right after he was born, and she, Mariah and Devon were so panicked. They called the doctor, who reassured them. Abby said she read every baby book she could, but when there was a crisis, all that information went out of her head. She almost wished the baby had a fever this time because they’d been through that together, and they knew what to do. Chance was glad Abby had Mariah and Devon to lean on back then, but he wished he’d been there too. Abby suggested they should alert Devon.

Lily visited Devon’s hoping to talk CEO to CEO. She’d been learning about Chancellor’s divisions, and when she got to the entertainment division, she stared thinking about Neil and wondering if he’d be proud of her and Devon. Devon was sure he would be. He thought Neil would be especially proud of Lily and what she’d accomplished after getting out of prison. Lily said that their dad died shortly after her release, so he never got to see her rebuild her life. She always felt partially responsible for Neil dying so young. Devon said Neil’s death wasn’t anyone’s fault. Devon felt that Lily had emulated Neil and he’d be beyond proud of her. She appreciated hearing that. She was suggesting a joint venture between Chancellor Industries and Hamilton Winters to honor Neil and Katherine. Chance called Devon and brought him up to speed. Devon asked to come over, and Chance said okay. Devon told Lily what was happening,

Devon went to the Chancellor house, and he was full of questions about what the doctor thought. Abby and Chance said the doctor didn’t want to speculate. Abby couldn’t stop reading about the baby’s symptoms online. She thought there was a chance the baby was anemic. Devon got in on the research too, and Chance said he didn’t think they should be second guessing the doctor. Devon asked if he should call Nate. Chance said Devon could, but Dr. Bradley was world-class, and she came recommended by Nate. Chance thought they were in good hands. Devon trusted Chance’s judgment. Abby wondered if she did something wrong, like taking the baby off breast milk too soon or not keeping him active enough. Chance said Abby was an excellent mother, and he said that they could make adjustments with the baby if the doctor told them to. Devon said Chance was right. “What’s going on with Dominic has nothing to do with you or anything you’ve done,” Devon added. “I’m sorry are you accusing me of overreacting, Devon? Because that really isn’t helpful,” Abby replied. Devon looked puzzled. She said she was the mother, and she was supposed to protect Dominic. Abby said telling her to calm down was making her more anxious.

Chance rubbed Abby’s shoulders and told her that no one was accusing her of overreacting. She said she couldn’t keep her worries in check – she wasn’t built that way. He said if Dr. Bradley was concerned, she would’ve admitted the baby for observation. Abby knew that made sense, but it didn’t make it any easier. They hugged. Devon was over by the bassinet talking to the baby. Devon said he was studying the dad thing a lot so he could be prepared for anything Dominic needed. He added that Dominic’s mommy and daddy were also here for him.

Later, the baby was upstairs, because Abby thought he’d rest more comfortably without everyone hovering. She and Devon thought Dom’s cry sounded weak, but they had the baby monitor downstairs. The doctor called. Dominic’s red blood count was low enough to be concerning. Dominic needed a bone marrow aspiration, and he needed to get to the hospital as soon as possible.

When Billy got home, Lily was there on the phone. She learned that construction would be ongoing for awhile, so they would have to continue work from home or go to the office and deal with the drilling in the background. Lily told Billy about the meeting with Devon and the baby going to the doctor. She thought the baby thing was just new-parent jitters. He yawned, and he blamed the lack of coffee. She’d heard him getting up at night the last three nights in a row. She asked what was going on. He didn’t think it was anything serious. She suggested that he hadn’t gotten over everything that happened. He thought she sounded like Jack. He just felt like he was searching for something, and he didn’t know what it was. She thought she knew.

Lily said that Billy’s title was COO, but until she figured out what direction she was taking the company in, his title was a bit vague. “And that’s why you’re restless, because you don’t do vague. You need specifics,” she said. He agreed with her, but he said it wasn’t her responsibility to find him things to do. She said it actually was her job. She asked him to flesh out a pitch for Hamilton Winters. She wanted to create podcasts that were educational and inspirational. Her dad wanted to empower people, and she thought this was the way to do it. Billy liked this idea, and he thought he could sink his teeth into it. He said it was sexy like her, and he pulled her onto his lap. She thought that this project would be meaningful and fun. They kissed. Later, they basked in the afterglow, and he said working from home had its benefits. She was thinking the opposite because of all the distractions. He said he wasn’t tired anymore. She noticed. They kissed

Rey and Sharon were at Crimson Lights. He asked what she was doing today. She was seeing patients and working at Crimson Lights. Chance was coming back to work today, and Sharon asked Rey how he felt about that. Rey noticed how happy Chance and Abby were at the party. It made him think he may have been wrong when he worried that Chance wasn’t ready to come back to work. Rey got a text from Chance – he wasn’t coming to work today after all. Sharon was relieved, because she wasn’t sure Chance was ready to be the stable partner Rey needed on the job. She knew Abby would be glad Chance was spending more time as a family. Rey explained that Dominic was sick. He didn’t have any details. Sharon wondered if she should check on Abby or let Mariah know. Rey didn’t think they should get involved right now.

Rey and Sharon said goodbye and kissed, then he left.

Recap written by Christine

Sally went to Adam’s office because she wanted to iron out the details of their job. It was late, but she wasn’t sure she could sleep until they talked. He wondered if she was having second thoughts about them continuing to work together. She was ecstatic and flattered about the job, but she knew he spontaneously made the offer so she could to save face in front of Chelsea and Chloe. She noted that he hadn’t been able to tell her what the job was. He smiled and said he found her endlessly amusing, in a good way, and he thought she was smart to raise these questions. He saw a lot of potential in her, and he thought she was ready to take on a new challenge. He offered her the role of COO of Newman Media. Sally was speechless.

Sally appreciated the massive vote of confidence, but she said she knew she wasn’t the obvious choice for the job. Adam said she was artistic, creative and she had a head for business. He said she’d shown herself to be smart, driven, savvy with media, and he admired her fire. She thanked him. She thought they both had a deep seated need to prove themselves, not that she’d come close to what he’d achieved. He said his father had always tested him. He was going to prove to Victor, Victoria and Ashland that no one was better to helm Newman Media than Adam was, and he needed someone on his side. He wanted to name a COO before Victoria started suggesting people, because he was sure she’d choose a spy. Sally asked if Adam wanted her to spy. He didn’t. He wanted her to be his partner. He trusted her and valued her loyalty and talent. Sally waned the job, but she wasn’t sure Victoria and Victor would like the idea. He said he could handle his father and sister. He thought there was a bright future head for him and her. He invited her out to a celebratory drink. She thought they had to discuss their personal relationship first.

Sally said she really hugged Adam earlier today, and not in a co-worker kind of way. She was pretty sure she wasn’t the only one who could feel the heat between them. He admitted he needed a moment to cool off after she left. She thought they were both trying to avoid their feelings, and she didn’t want to do that anymore. “I want you as much as you want me. But we both know that it’s not that simple,” Adam said. Sally replied that the best things never were simple. He thought they needed to get her set up as COO before acting on their feelings.

Mariah lead a blindfolded Tessa into their apartment. When the covering was removed, Tessa saw the romantic setting. Tessa loved it and she loved Mariah. Mariah made chocolate martinis, the only fancy drink she remembered how to make from her bartending days. Tessa asked when Mariah had time to do all this. Mariah said she had a little help. Tessa realized that was what Mariah and Faith were whispering about. Mariah said the first part of the night was for their friends and family, but the rest of the night was for Mariah and Tessa.

Mariah said this was one of the best nights of her life, and she’d remember it for years. She felt lucky, but Tessa said she was the lucky one. Mariah asked if Tessa waned a drink or a movie. Tessa pulled Mariah into a kiss. Later, Mariah said she loved the studio apartment, their first home, but she was glad they moved in here. Tessa said they had two rooms, one for a little kid. They looked at the notes people wrote on the lyric poster board. Tessa thought it was nice to see Mariah, Abby and Devon talking. Mariah was glad she was at peace with them. She said she had everything she needed right here. Mariah asked who drew the heart, and Tessa said Noah did it. Tessa thought it represented Noah’s love for them, and not just for Tessa. Mariah knew. She said she’d talked to Noah and got all the weirdness out, and now they were good. She still felt bad for him, though. She knew it sucked to have feelings for someone you shouldn’t, but she thought Noah was working hard to make sure everyone was okay. Tessa thought the most important thing they could do was show Noah that everything was normal. After the talk, Mariah initiated another kiss, and they fell back on the couch.

Downstairs, Sharon and Rey cleaned up after the party. Sharon was glad the party went well. She admitted she’d been concerned about how Mariah would react to seeing Devon after he got shared custody of Dominic. Mariah had seemed fine, and Sharon said she’d come a long way. Rey had thought Sharon was going to say she was concerned about Noah and his lingering feelings for Tessa. Sharon was concerned about that too. She thought Noah truly wanted the best for Mariah and Tessa, but she knew tonight was hard for him, so she was glad he went home with Nick, because he needed some support.

Chelsea moved into The Grand Phoenix for awhile because she was selling her place. She looked saddened as she unpacked and put a picture of herself and Connor on a table. Chloe texted to say she was sure they’d land a deal with Lauren.

Back at Crimson Lights, Sharon wanted to check in with Nick later. She knew Noah was grown, but she was concerned. Rey thought Sharon was a wonderful mother. She said that having the kids around tonight made her feel extra maternal. Sharon talked about how much Mariah had grown since she came into Sharon’s life – back then, Mariah would’ve scoffed at the idea of anyone finding true love. Rey found Mariah and Tara’s love and devotion inspiring. Sharon thought their love would get them through anything life threw at them. He was happy for her and her family. She said they were his family too. He didn’t mean to imply they weren’t. She wondered if someone happened to make him feel like an outsider. He said no one did. He brought up the conversation they had about how she and Nick could read Mariah, Faith and Noah in a way Rey couldn’t. When he saw her and Nick with their kids, it made Rey extra-aware he missed out on parenting. He wasn’t looking to have kids, but he had fleeting “what-if” moments. Chelsea arrived and heard Rey say he loved what he and Sharon had more than anything. She walked in and said she hoped she wasn’t interrupting. Chelsea heard about the engagement and said congrats and started to leave. Sharon offered to get Chelsea a drink anyway and went to place the order. Rey talked with Chelsea about the sale of Newman Media and what was next for her. Chelsea put a positive spin on it all. Sharon joined the conversation and learned that Sally would not be part of Chelsea and Sally’s future plans. Chelsea said that Sally was going to be working alongside Adam.

Sharon wished Chelsea the best in her new business with Chloe. Rey told Chelsea not to waste her energy worrying about Adam and Sally’s relationship. He thought it was good that she was putting that last chapter behind her0. She said she’d moved into the Grand Phoenix until she found a new place. She was optimistic for the future. He said they were rooting for her.

Nick and Noah were at Society instead of going to the movies. Nick said he was starved. Noah knew that Nick was trying to get him to eat because he was concerned Noah had too much champagne. Noah said he wasn’t drunk. Nick knew Noah was hurting, and he wanted to help. Noah sensed Nick was about to interrogate him, and he didn’t want that. Nick just wanted Noah to open up. Noah said he was going to be fine, and he just wanted to get back to eating. Nick got the message to back off. Noah didn’t mean to shut Nick down, but he didn’t want people to think he was falling apart. He was looking for a purpose. For awhile he thought it was art, but maybe he was wrong, and maybe he’d find what he was looking for working with Nick. Nick and Sharon were glad Noah was home, and they wanted him to find his center.

Nick returned to Crimson Lights to help clean up, and he wanted to tell Sharon about something. He saw Chelsea, and they said hello. Nick and Sharon went to the patio. Chelsea was surprised she and Rey had become friends. She said a lot of people in the town weren’t sincere about giving her a second chance, but he was the real deal. She said he looked past the things she did and saw her for who she really was. It meant a lot. Chelsea showed Rey pictures of Connor. “To be a kid again. Or a proud parent,” Rey wistfully said.

On the patio, Sharon said Chelsea needed some company, beccause she was dealing with Adam and the Newman Media drama. Nick said it was always collateral damage when it came to his family, and that was why he stayed out of the business stuff. Nick told Sharon how Noah basically said to back off. Sharon said Noah always wore his heart on his sleeve, and now he was shutting down. She didn’t think it was good that he wouldn’t open up to them.

Nick thought it made sense that Noah didn’t want to talk about this painful thing he was trying to get over. Sharon guessed Noah would just have to work his way through this on his own. Nick said exactly. Sharon wondered if this was Nick’s way of suggesting she back down and let things play out and making it seem like it was her idea. He said he learned form the best. She said she didn’t manipulate people, she just nudged them toward a more healthy path.

Noah dreamed Tessa told him that her love songs were about him, and they kissed. He woke up with a start.

Update written by Joseph

Gabi goes to the Kiriakis Mansion where Devil Johnny has transformed himself in to Jake. “Jake” asks Maggie for a guarantee in writing that he will be elected CEO of DiMera after they take over. Maggie agrees to talk to Victor about that. “Jake” then brings up Titan. Maggie says that Victor has very strong reservations about putting someone outside of the family in charge of his company. Maggie is afraid that making Gabi CEO of Titan may be off the table. Maggie asks if that’s a dealbreaker. Gabi says to herself that it sure as hell is, but hears “Jake” say that it absolutely isn’t, which angers her. Maggie thought making Gabi CEO of Titan was one of their conditions. “Jake” says it was, but he wouldn’t want something like that to sour the deal. “Jake” declares that as long as he’s made CEO of DiMera Enterprises then he’s got everything he wants. Gabi remains listening in from outside.

Ava sits at home, reading an article about Melinda fast-tracking Rafe’s trial. Ava remarks that it’s not fast enough but it will do. Jake then comes home and asks what she’s so happy about.

Nicole walks past the Brady Pub while on the phone with Rafe, hoping his lawyer has a strategy to get the charges thrown out. Nicole says in the meantime, she will try to find a way to prove Ava is the one setting him up. Nicole assures they will clear his name one way or another. Nicole tells Rafe to call her after talking to his lawyer. Nicole hangs up as Allie approaches. Nicole thought she was working today. Allie says she is and is just grabbing an early lunch. Allie asks how Rafe is doing. Nicole says he’s not great and talks about how they never thought Rafe would actually get arrested. Nicole calls it a nightmare. Allie says she’s so sorry and asks if the cops will figure out that he’s not guilty. Nicole responds that she’s not so sure about that.

Paulina goes to the Bakery to tell Chanel to go pack a suitcase because they are all getting out of town today. Chanel questions what’s going on. Paulina claims she just thought it would be nice to take a family trip to Miami and get out of the cold weather. Paulina tells her to go pack but Chanel declares that she’s not going anywhere because now that she served Johnny with divorce papers, it’s finally heating up around here…

Lani packs her bags at home. TR then shows up at her door. Lani asks what he’s doing here. TR thinks back to Chanel informing him that Lani is her sister. TR tells Lani that he’s sorry to show up unannounced but there is something important he has to discuss with her and it can’t wait. Lani knows he’s in business with Johnny but TR says that’s not why he came to see her. Lani assures that she has nothing to do with Chanel’s marriage or her divorce. TR can’t imagine she wouldn’t value her opinion. Lani responds that Chanel only values her own opinion. Lani guarantees she would have no effect. TR asks for confirmation that Chanel is Lani’s sister. Lani questions who told him that. TR responds that Chanel told him, herself.

Allie argues that everyone in the Salem Police Department know that Rafe is a good cop, so they have to realize they made a mistake. Nicole says not just a mistake, but someone is framing him. Allie asks who would do that to him. Nicole says she can’t say for sure yet but she’s working on finding proof. Allie encourages that she doesn’t have to do it alone since so many people care about Rafe and help clear his name. Allie tells Nicole that she has her and Ava. Nicole tells her that she honestly doesn’t think Ava will be much help..

Ava claims to Jake that she was just reading a funny article in the health section about 10 ways to drive your lover crazy. Ava asks Jake what he’s doing home in the middle of the afternoon. Jake reminds her that he’s unemployed. Ava suggests he should be out looking for a job so he and Gabi can move out. Jake responds that it might happen sooner than she thinks. Ava calls that music to her ears. Jake informs her that he and Gabi have a plan, so she probably won’t see them around here much longer.

Gabi continues listening to “Jake” talking to Maggie. Maggie says she’s sure Victor will be happy to learn that he doesn’t have to hand over Titan to an outsider. “Jake” says he aims to keep everyone happy. Maggie asks if he’s forgetting someone as she thought Gabi helped engineer this deal. Maggie thinks Gabi will be upset when she learns that she’s not getting the Titan job. “Jake” tells her not to worry as he can handle Gabi. Gabi gets increasingly more upset as she listens.

Allie points out that Ava is Rafe’s girlfriend, so she questions why she wouldn’t help in figuring out who is framing him. Nicole responds that Ava and Rafe’s relationship is complicated. Allie questions if she’s suggesting that Ava could be the one framing Rafe. Nicole repeats that she doesn’t have proof. Allie questions why would Rafe’s own girlfriend would want to frame him for a crime. Nicole explains that lately, she’s been getting the sense that Ava is having some anger issues at Rafe and her. Allie asks why Ava would be mad at Nicole and then realizes there is something going on between her and Rafe.

Jake goes to get coffee but there is none left as Ava says Rafe was the one who would usually put on a second pot. Jake mentions that he’s sorry for everything going on with him as he didn’t see that coming. Ava responds that neither did he. Jake remarks that if anyone was going to get nailed for corruption, he would’ve thought it would be her. Ava says he makes a fair point but notes that Jake and Gabi aren’t as pure as snow either. Ava reminds Jake that they were in the same business, while Gabi may not have been convicted of most of her crimes but her rap sheet is almost as long as hers. Ava calls Gabi a killer with a nice wardrobe.

Gabi continues listening in as Maggie says she thought Jake and Gabi were equal partners. “Jake” says some partners are more equal than others as he assures that he has Gabi under control. Gabi then storms off after hearing that. Maggie asks if they have anything else to discuss. “Jake” thinks that covers it all. Maggie offers to walk him out but he says he knows his own way. Maggie says she will let Victor know what they discussed. “Jake” says it was a pleasure doing business with her as Maggie then exits. The Devil as “Jake” then transforms back in to Johnny. Johnny declares that if that doesn’t drive Gabi and Jake apart, he doesn’t know what will.

Paulina questions what Chanel means by things are just starting to heat up. Paulina questions if she actually wants to deal with the fallout of serving Johnny divorce papers. Chanel says she’d rather not, but she’s not going to run from it either as she needs to be able to keep an eye on him. Paulina argues that’s what lawyers are for. Paulina thinks Chanel needs something to take her mind off of Johnny like fun in the sun with her family. Chanel feels it’s wrong to leave. Paulina guesses she just needs to be in control like her mom. Paulina says she’d only be a phone call away. Chanel adds that even if she wanted to leave town, she’s contractually obligated to stay…

TR asks Lani if he can come in because he’d rather not have this conversation in the hallway, so Lani allows him in. TR adds that she doesn’t have to be wary of him. Lani says she’s heard otherwise. TR brings up Paulina not mentioning that Chanel was her sister. Lani doesn’t see what her relationship with Chanel has to do with TR and Johnny. TR says it doesn’t, it has to do with their relationship. Lani argues that they don’t have a relationship and asks what she’s missing here. TR explains that when he bumped in to Paulina, she told him that Chanel was her only child which obviously isn’t true. Lani guesses he has financial interest in Chanel’s lawsuit because of his stake in Johnny’s movie and says Paulina probably didn’t want him to get to Chanel through her. TR declares that’s not why she lied..

Gabi walks outside, questioning how Jake could betray her like this after everything they’ve been through and he just sells her out like she doesn’t matter. Gabi’s phone rings and she says she thought her phone was dead. She answers a call from Johnny, who claims he’s calling to see how her visit with Maggie went. Gabi says it didn’t. Johnny thought she was going to talk to her. Gabi responds that she did go to see her but that two faced son of a bitch beat her to the punch. Johnny asks if something happened. Gabi responds that somebody stabbed her in the back. Johnny smiles and asks where she is as he tells her that he will be right there.

Allie questions Nicole about her and Rafe. Nicole tells her that it was just one time and they are not having an affair. Nicole explains that she was scared, Rafe was there to comfort her and one thing led to another. Allie understands but asks if she’s sure it’s just a one time thing. Nicole says they were just discussing that right before he was arrested. Nicole insists that they are not going to have an affair behind Ava’s back and adds that they don’t even know if Ava knows what happened between them. Nicole worries that if Ava does know, then she’s lashing out at Rafe for betraying her, so she feels responsible to help. Allie calls her a good person. Nicole doesn’t feel like it but thanks her. Nicole reminds Allie that this is just a theory, so she asks her not to say anything to anyone about this. Allie asks if she means not even Tripp.

Tripp goes to see Ava which makes her happy. Tripp figured Ava would be at the police station with Rafe. Ava mentions that he is meeting his lawyer today. Tripp hopes that goes well. Ava asks what his visit is for. Tripp informs her that he kind of made a really big life decision, so he wanted her to be among the first to know. Tripp reveals that he’s going to ask Allie to marry him. Ava calls it wonderful and hugs him, saying she’s so happy for him. Tripp asks if she really means that.

Paulina questions Chanel saying she’s contractually obligated to stay in Salem. Chanel says that’s what they tell her. Paulina argues that Allie can’t make her run the Bakery against her will. Chanel explains that it’s not the Bakery, but the movie. Paulina thought that was in turn around. Chanel says now it’s out and he’s making it again. Paulina remarks that Johnny just threw away the best thing to ever happen to him and questions him still wanting her in the movie. Chanel doesn’t know if Johnny does, but the studio definitely does as the guy who came to talk to her made that very clear. Paulina asks what guy. Chanel informs her that he actually said he and Paulina go way back and his name was TR Coates.

Lani questions TR knowing why Paulina lied to him. TR explains that he knew Paulina over 30 years ago and they had a relationship, so when Chanel told him that Lani was Paulina’s daughter, he did the math. TR reveals that he realized that he could be Lani’s father. Lani laughs it off and thinks he’s confused because his father was some guy named Ray. TR then confirms that’s Terrell Raymond Coates.

Nicole tells Allie that she knows it’s a lot to ask but Ava is Tripp’s mother. Nicole is sure Allie doesn’t like hiding things from Tripp. Allie admits she hates it. Nicole apologizes as the last thing she wants to do is make her lie to her boyfriend. Nicole pleads with Allie to do this for her.

Ava asks Tripp why she wouldn’t be happy that his son is proposing to his girlfriend. Tripp brings up that a few weeks ago, Ava thought Allie and Chanel had more than friendship and she thought Allie was going to break his heart. Ava admits she suspected they might be more than friends. Tripp then says the way she went on about it, he wasn’t sure if she was talking about him and Allie or her and Rafe. Ava knows he asked her that and admits he was probably right because she and Rafe were going through some stuff and she shouldn’t have projected it on to him. Tripp asks what kind of stuff and if she was afraid that Rafe had feelings for someone else. Ava declares it doesn’t matter as she figured out a way to work through it. Ava thinks Allie is a great girl. Ava adds that she will always be an overprotective mom, but she sees Allie makes him happy and that’s all she can ever hope for as she wants nothing but the best for him. Tripp tells her the same as they hug.

Jake goes to the DiMera Mansion looking for Gabi and Johnny but they aren’t there so he wonders where they are.

Johnny finds Gabi outside and asks if she’s okay, noting that she looks upset. Gabi complains that the man she’s been with just threw her under the bus and stabbed her in the back. Johnny asks her to tell him everything that happened. Gabi explains that she went to see Maggie but “Jake” was already there so she listened in and heard him say it would be no problem if Victor didn’t make her CEO of Titan as long as he got what he wanted. Johnny calls him a double dealing bastard.

Paulina questions Chanel talking to TR Coates. Chanel explains that he stopped by the bakery to inform her and Allie that he was holding them to their contracts. Paulina asks about her name coming up. Chanel says that he said he knew her from back in the day and that he bumped into her yesterday and met Lani too. Chanel mentions that TR thought Lani was her cousin, so she told him that he was mixed up because Lani is her sister which causes Paulina to worry.

Lani tells TR that Paulina has told her all about him and tells him to get away from her. TR tries to explain but Lani yells at him to get out. Lani threatens to get her gun. TR insists that he’s not the same man that he was when he was with Paulina as he gave up the drugs and got sober. TR talks about all the therapy he’s been through. TR promises that he’s a different man now, one that she could be proud to call her father.

Nicole apologizes for putting Allie in this position with Tripp. Nicole adds that if she could just find some proof, they wouldn’t have to keep it a secret. Allie says there has to be a way to figure it out. Nicole assures that she’s trying but she can’t just go to Rafe’s to start looking through Ava’s things, because if she shows up there then Ava will know she’s on to her and she’s already suspicious of her. Allie then asks what about her. Nicole says no, Allie can’t get go through Ava’s things because she can’t betray Tripp like that.

Tripp tells Ava that he was going to ask Allie’s parents in person for their blessing but they are out of town and he can’t get a hold of them, so he figured asking her grandfather was the next best thing. Ava asks what Roman said. Tripp confirms that he gave their blessing. Ava jokes that he knows he couldn’t ask for a better grandson in law. Ava encourages that Tripp is a great man, a doctor, and will be a wonderful father to Henry. Tripp hopes so as he loves him so much. Ava knows Henry will grow up to be an incredible man with Tripp in his life. Ava asks when Tripp is going to pop the question. Tripp says he was thinking about Valentine’s Day but he has to find the right ring and is trying to figure out what he can afford. Ava tells him to hold that thought and steps out of the room.

Johnny says it’s no wonder Gabi is upset. Gabi cries about Jake saying he loved her so she never thought he could do something like this. Johnny remarks that he never fully trusted Jake. Gabi brings up that Jake told her this morning that he was worried about Johnny. Johnny tells Gabi that he’s sorry that Jake hurt her like this, but at least now, she can see him for what he really is. Johnny calls Jake a second-rate DiMera trying to prove himself so he can’t appreciate what she brings to the table. Johnny praises Gabi and says that Jake is lucky to have her as a business partner, so if he can’t see that then he doesn’t deserve it. Gabi agrees and calls Jake a backstabbing creep. Gabi wants to go confront him but Johnny stops her and says maybe she shouldn’t.

Paulina questions Chanel telling TR Coates that Lani is her sister which she confirms. Chanel asks what the big deal is since it’s all out in the open now. Chanel questions why it matters if some random stranger knows the truth. Paulina orders Chanel to go home right now and pack her bag. Chanel questions the hurry. Paulina tells her to just do it and be ready to go to the airport as soon as she gets back from picking up Lani. Paulina then rushes off, leaving Chanel confused.

Lani questions why she would want anything to do with TR. Lani talks about not knowing Paulina was her mother for all these years because they told her that she was her aunt while her sister raised her as her own. TR says he didn’t know that. Lani complains that her own mother gave her child away because she was so afraid of TR finding out she existed. Lani questions TR just expecting her to run in to his arms and call him daddy. TR realizes he’s a stranger to her but swears he’s a changed man and he just wants to get to know his daughter.

Jake continues calling out for Gabi and Johnny, wondering where they are.

Gabi asks Johnny why she shouldn’t confront Jake right now. Johnny says she can do what she wants, but suggests not being so quick to throw away her advantage. Johnny can’t imagine how much it must have hurt to hear what “Jake” said but maybe it’s good that she did, because now she has the upper hand. Gabi questions him wanting her to act as dumb as Jake thinks she is. Johnny says to let Jake think he’s the only one playing both sides since he still has his shares. Johnny suggests working behind Jake’s back to relieve him of his shares. Gabi agrees that turnaround is fair play. Johnny points out that she has the element of surprise and he thinks they can do great things together. Johnny declares they can run this town and maybe even shake up the whole world. Gabi agrees and says for them to take everything. Gabi says she’ll be in touch and walks away as Devil Johnny laughs.

Ava presents Tripp with her grandmother’s wedding ring. Tripp calls it amazing but says he can’t take it. Ava calls it a family heirloom. Ava adds that it’s not like she has a daughter to pass it down to. Tripp asks if she’s sure. Ava assures that nothing would make her happier than to see her future daughter in law with that ring on her finger. Tripp can’t wait to give it to her and thanks Ava. Ava responds that she’s just so happy that he’s found someone who loves him as much as she does.

Allie joins Chanel at the bakery and says she brought extra chowder. Chanel thanks her but says she’s not hungry. Allie asks if she’s okay. Chanel says she doesn’t know and asks if they can talk so they sit on the bench. Allie asks what’s going on. Chanel might need her to cover for her at the Bakery for awhile because Paulina wants her to go to Miami with her right now. Allie asks if she’s going to go. Chanel says at first, she didn’t want to but now she is thinking it might be a good idea to get away and put some distance between her and the terrible situation with Johnny, the divorce, and other things. Allie asks if by other things, she means sleeping with her.

TR tells Lani that he knows how complicated this situation is. Lani argues that it’s not complicated because he is not her father. Lani says she already has a father and he is the best man she knows. TR is happy to hear that but says that doesn’t mean they can’t get to know each other. TR suggests taking the first steps today. Paulina arrives and yells for TR to get the hell away from Lani. TR questions Paulina admitting that Lani is her daughter. Paulina continues to yell at him to get out. TR warns that she can kick her out but that doesn’t change the fact that Lani is his daughter too. Paulina argues that Lani is nothing to him and never will be. TR knows he missed a lot of years and he’ll never be able to get those back, but promises he will do whatever he has to do to be a father to Lani now. TR then walks out as Paulina hugs Lani.

Gabi walks outside and runs in to Jake, who says he’s been looking everywhere for her. Jake mentions stopping by the DiMera Mansion but she and Johnny weren’t there. Gabi guesses he just missed them and asks what he’s been up to. Jake says he stopped by Ben’s new place to see him and then stopped at home where he ran in to Ava, but Gabi wasn’t there, as he’s been looking for her. Gabi asks if that’s it. Jake says he’s here now. Gabi calls it a busy day.

Tripp asks Ava if she’s sure she’s fine with him taking the ring instead of wanting it for herself. Tripp brings up Rafe but Ava assures that he won’t have to worry about that. Tripp asks if Ava is okay. Ava says her love life has been spotty and she’s been hurt more times than she can count, but she still believes in happily ever after. Ava tells Tripp that she loves him as they hug. Tripp then exits the house. Ava sits back down and opens her tablet to a photo of her and Rafe. Ava declares that they could’ve had their happily ever after but Rafe threw it all away and now he’ll have to pay for that.

Chanel tells Allie that she wasn’t talking about what happened between them. Allie asks if she’s sure. Chanel says she is and she just meant her divorce, the movie, and needing to get away from Johnny. Chanel promises Allie that this isn’t about them sleeping together right as Johnny appears behind them.

Jake argues that if Johnny gets what he wants, he’s going to get Gabi in bed and she’ll be running Titan, then with EJ in jail, Johnny just has to freeze Chad out so he can run DiMera himself, leaving Jake with nothing. Gabi tells him to stop pouting and assures that Johnny is not going to get his way. Gabi kisses Jake and then exits the Pub.

Paulina says they can figure that all out. Lani tells her no because it’s too soon. Lani says if they are going to have a real relationship, there has to be less style and a lot more substance. Lani adds that Paulina needs to be patient and present. Paulina agrees and says she wants to do whatever it takes to be a good mother to her. Lani is open to giving her that chance. Lani appreciates her offer but says they are not going to Florida with her. Paulina responds that yes, they are.

Allie tells TR that Chanel is usually here by now, so she doesn’t know what’s keeping with her, but she works with her and is her best friend, so she asks if she can help. TR says it’s not about the bakery. Chanel then arrives, complaining about Johnny, as Allie directs her to TR being there to see her. Chanel asks why. TR introduces himself to her. She asks how she can help him and argues that she doesn’t even know him. TR says he’s here to talk to her about her role in “Possessed” because he’s producing it and made the deal with Johnny DiMera.

Jake goes to see Ben at his new apartment. Jake points out that Ben’s cross is upside down. Ben wonders why it keeps doing that and fixes it again. Jake says he didn’t know Ben and Ciara were religious. Ben calls it a house warming gift from Julie. Jake guesses they can’t be too careful since The Devil was after their baby. Ben thanks God that’s all over now. Jake asks how Ciara is doing. Ben says she’s good and the morning sickness is over. Jake says they deserve some happiness. Ben thanks him and asks how things are with him. Jake says they could be better as a pushy little creep is after Gabi.

Johnny talks to the portrait of Stefano and comments that he was married like a million times, wondering how much alimony he was paying. Johnny says he and Stefano are alike in that when it comes to beautiful women, they can’t say no. Gabi walks in and asks if they are talking about her. Gabi questions if Johnny’s workout was talking with his dead grandfather. Johnny asks if she knew him well. Gabi responds that they crossed paths a few times and he didn’t give off a warm and fuzzy vibe around here. Gabi adds that she did admire how he sold himself as a businessman with a heart of a mob boss. Johnny is sure that he would return the admiration but Gabi doubts it. Johnny assumes she’s here to talk about his DiMera shares. Gabi informs him that Maggie is representing Victor in all of this and she and Jake have a deal with her. Johnny asks what the terms are. Gabi says they vote Victor onto the board at DiMera and then he makes her CEO of Titan. Johnny sees what she and Victor get, but questions what’s in it for him.

Ben asks Jake for more on the creep that’s going after Gabi. Jake informs him that it’s Johnny DiMera. Ben mentions just meeting him yesterday and questions Johnny going after Gabi. Jake responds that he knows that he is since he already dumped his wife.

Chanel tells TR that she doesn’t think Johnny still wants her in his movie. Allie asks why she would want to be in it. TR asks if they even know Johnny. Allie reveals that he is her twin brother. TR acknowledges her and brings up her playing Sami but Allie says not anymore. TR is glad she’s there so he doesn’t have to make the same pitch twice. TR reveals that they are both under contract to his production company, so if they don’t fulfill their obligations, he will sue them and win. Allie tells him to go for it. Chanel adds that there is no way either of them are doing that movie.

Tripp goes to the Brady Pub and asks Roman if he’s heard from Allie’s parents. Roman says he hasn’t but wouldn’t expect to. Tripp asks if they are together. Roman thinks they are lying low after what Sami went through and asks if there’s a problem. Tripp says no but he likes to do things by the book and admits he’s a little scared of Sami. Tripp adds that Sami doesn’t like to be left out of things. Roman asks what things he is talking about. Tripp then reveals to Roman that he’s going to ask Allie to marry him. Roman says he’s surprised. Tripp thinks he fell in love with Allie the first time he ever saw her in London. Tripp talks about all they have been through and how he never stopped loving her. Tripp talks about loving Henry too and says there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for them. Tripp wants to take care of Allie and Henry for the rest of his life. Roman says he’s told him a lot about how he feels, but asks how Allie feels. Tripp responds that Allie says she loves him and acts like she does. Roman warns him to be sure about that before he starts talking marriage because he doesn’t want to see them make a big mistake.

TR tells Chanel that he heard from Paulina that Johnny broke her heart. Chanel questions how he knows her. TR responds that he and Paulina go way back. TR tells her that he’s sorry about her father. Chanel asks if he knew him too. TR says he never had the pleasure. Chanel mentions that she misses him. TR then comments that he met her cousin, Lani Grant. Chanel then corrects him, saying he got the wrong information and reveals that Lani is not her cousin, she is her sister.

Lani asks if Paulina is telling her what to do. Paulina says it’s not about her, but about her mom. Paulina says Olivia hasn’t been feeling well, but she thinks she’s just lonely so she’d love to see Lani and the babies. Paulina encourages taking them there for a couple weeks but Lani says she cannot leave town because she promised Chanel that she would be there for her. Lani states that Chanel’s heart is broken, so she needs someone to talk to until her life is back together and that someone is going to be her.

Ben is surprised to learn that Johnny had a wife. Jake says he did for about two days and then kicked her to the curb and started sniffing around Gabi. Ben questions how that happened. Jake explains how after he got booted out of DiMera, he and Gabi went to Titan but both got fired so they got sick of sitting on the sidelines. Jake explains that Gabi thinks she still has pull with Victor, so they are hoping to vote Victor onto the DiMera Board. Ben laughs at that idea. Jake says that Gabi thinks it would benefit both of them as Gabi could be in charge of Titan, while he runs DiMera. Jake adds that they don’t have enough votes unless they get Johnny to vote their way since he has EJ’s shares as well. Ben mentions hearing that EJ is in prison. Jake says that Johnny has what Gabi needs and he’s made it very clear what he wants in return. Ben asks what Gabi is going to do. Jake says that Gabi is convinced that she can use that to make Johnny do what they want. Ben asks if Jake is convinced.

Johnny approaches Gabi, but she says not in front of Stefano’s portrait. Johnny points out that there are no pictures upstairs. Gabi thought he was smart enough to play the long game. Johnny says he’ll play any game she wants. Gabi doesn’t want to be pressured in to doing things that she doesn’t want to do. Johnny asks if that’s really the case because he thinks Gabi is keeping from doing things she wants to do. Gabi reminds him that she and Jake are exclusive. Johnny asks why. Johnny argues that Stefano and EJ raised him to take over DiMera Enterprises while Jake was raised to be a grease monkey. Johnny calls Jake dead weight. Gabi asks what that makes her. Johnny says Gabi has brains and drive, so he questions what she needs Jake for.

Jake informs Ben that Gabi is at the DiMera Mansion talking to Johnny now. Ben questions Jake not being there. Jake doesn’t like this plan. Jake says he and Gabi have worked so hard together to get everything they have. Jake doesn’t trust Johnny. Ben says screw Johnny as all that matters is that Jake can trust Gabi.

Gabi reminds Johnny that Jake has his own shares. Johnny suggests she use her assets to get Jake to turn his shares over to her. Gabi questions him thinking divide and conquer will work. Johnny guesses this whole scheme was Jake’s idea because he can’t stop obsessing over being booted out of a family that he was never good enough to be a part of. Johnny remarks that Jake doesn’t care about Titan and probably doesn’t care about Gabi. Gabi warns him not to say that. Johnny argues that Jake is just trying to worm his way back in to DiMera and is using Gabi to do that, so once he’s done, he won’t need her anymore. Gabi argues that Johnny is too spoiled to understand what she and Jake have as they aren’t entitled like he is, as they know what it feels like to come from nothing and they have a future. Johnny declares that he’s not the only one that wants to screw her but warns her to start watching her back.

Tripp tells Roman that he would never push Allie in to marrying him. Roman talks about how Allie, Johnny, and Sydney were on their own way too soon because Sami devoted herself to EJ. Roman brings up that Johnny thought he wanted to get married too and he saw what he ended up doing to poor Chanel. Tripp responds that he’s not like Johnny. Roman says he knows but feels it’s never a good idea to rush in to anything.

TR questions Chanel about Lani being her sister. Chanel confirms she is her half-sister and that Paulina is Lani’s mother. TR says he had no idea. Chanel mentions just finding out herself. TR thinks back to Paulina telling him that Chanel was her only daughter. Allie asks what TR this has to do with whether or not they do the movie.

Lani explains to Paulina that she promised Chanel that she could come over every night while Eli is away and help her with the kids, watch TV, drink wine and talk. Paulina says it means so much to her that Lani wants to be a real sister to Chanel. Lani asks if she understands then why she can’t go to Florida with her. Paulina talks about how Chanel is doing a lot better and says she’s fixing to give the Devil his due as Johnny is going to pay for all the pain and suffering he caused her. Lani insists that she can’t leave Chanel here all alone. Paulina offers to talk to her about Allie running the Bakery and taking Chanel with them. Lani decides she can ask for time off and agrees to go if she gets the time off. Paulina is thrilled and hugs her. Paulina tells her how much this will mean to Olivia. Lani recalls the last time she let Paulina drag her down there, she almost got shot. Paulina remarks that she’ll be safer there than she is here. Lani asks what that means. Paulina says Olivia will just get even if she doesn’t get what she wants. Paulina encourages Lani to go pack while she goes to tell Chanel the plan and then they will all be headed off to the airport. Paulina exits the apartment and tells herself that by the time they get back, Ray Coates will be gone and Lani will never have to know anything about him.

Allie reminds TR that she asked him a question. TR claims he just misunderstood what Paulina told him is all. TR mentions having another appointment. Allie repeats that he can sue them, but they are not doing that movie. TR says he’s sure they will be able to work something out and quickly walks away. Allie comments to Chanel how weird that was as he was ready to sue them and then he just dropped it. Chanel thanks Allie for backing her up. Allie assures that she always will.

Tripp tells Roman that he would never treat Allie the way Johnny treated Chanel. Roman says he knows that, but Allie already has a baby that she didn’t ask for. Tripp says that is working out. Roman warns Tripp that if Allie is not ready for marriage, he needs to respect that. Tripp assures that he will and gives Roman his word that he will never hurt Allie in any way. Tripp adds that Allie has learned to trust him and has given him her heart while he has trusted her with his. Tripp says that’s what love is all about.

Jake assures Ben that he trusts Gabi as what they have goes way beyond this deal, but sometimes Gabi has a tendency to underestimate people. Ben brings up that Ciara says Johnny is a player but says Gabi is way out of his league. Jake says there’s still something about Johnny that bugs him. Jake talks about when he was in the mob, he could see if a guy’s evil came from a weakness like coming from a bad childhood or bad breaks and how they had to toughen up because they were afraid of losing what they worked so hard to get. Jake adds that there were other guys who were just mean and evil with nothing to lose and those guys scared him. Jake thinks Johnny is one of those guys. Ben points out that he is a DiMera. Jake reminds Ben that he is too. Ben states that as long as Jake and Gabi stick together, they will come out on top.

Gabi tells Johnny that she trusts Jake and believes in him. Johnny thinks Jake will give Gabi a good reason to question her trust in him. Gabi argues that he doesn’t know. Johnny says he knows Gabi and thinks they are at the beginning of a very exciting partnership. Johnny promises to vote his and EJ’s shares in favor of giving Victor Kiriakis a seat on the board. Gabi calls that great and pulls out her phone to call Jake, but Johnny takes her phone and questions why she’d want to call Jake. Gabi doesn’t think right now is a good time to have Jake questioning her being loyal to him. Johnny agrees and gives Gabi her phone back. Gabi’s phone is then suddenly dead as she notes she just charged it this morning. Johnny claims maybe it can’t hold a charge and guesses she will have to catch up with Jake later. Gabi decides she will do that after sharing the news with Maggie. Gabi promises that Johnny will not regret this. Gabi then exits the mansion. Johnny remarks that he won’t regret it but Gabi and Jake will be a different story. Johnny guesses he better get changed. Johnny says to himself that sometimes he loves his life as he heads upstairs.

Roman tells Tripp that he can’t speak for Allie’s parents, but he gives his blessing. Tripp says that’s worth a lot. Roman calls Tripp a good man. Allie walks in and thought Tripp had to be at work early. Tripp claims he remembered that he needed to ask Roman if he heard from Steve and Kayla. Tripp asks what Allie is doing here. Allie says she’s just grabbing an early lunch. Tripp says he will see her at home tonight and then exits the Pub. Allie asks Roman what that was all about. Roman goes with what Tripp said about wanting to talk about Steve and Kayla.

Paulina goes to the Bakery where Chanel is working. Paulina notes Chanel’s smile and asks what’s about. Chanel says it’s serving Johnny divorce papers and going after his money. Paulina says that’s real good and that she needs to talk to her about something. Chanel tells her to wait until she tries cookies that she came up with. Paulina tells her to pack her a dozen and then go pack a suitcase because they are all getting out of town today.

Lani packs her bags at home. TR then shows up at her door. Lani asks what he’s doing here.

Jake thanks Ben for listening. Ben hates what Chad and EJ did to him and calls it unfair. Ben hopes that Jake ends up getting back what is his. Jake hopes so and says at least he’s not going alone since he’s with someone he loves and cares about. Jake says he and Gabi make a good team. Ben agrees as Jake exits. Jake points out that the cross is upside down again and jokes that he’s going to come back and hang it up right. Ben turns the cross back around again and heads back inside.

Gabi goes to the Kiriakis Mansion where Devil Johnny has transformed himself in to Jake. Gabi stops outside the living room to listen in on “Jake” talking to Maggie. “Jake” tells Maggie that he and Gabi are very close to getting Victor a spot on the DiMera Board and that Gabi is with Johnny now, nailing down his votes. Maggie says Victor will be very pleased to hear that. “Jake” asks Maggie for a guarantee in writing that he will be elected CEO of DiMera after they take over. Maggie agrees to talk to him about that. “Jake” then brings up Titan. Maggie says that Victor has very serious reservations about putting someone outside of the family in charge of his company. Maggie is afraid that making Gabi CEO of Titan may be off the table. Maggie asks if that’s a dealbreaker. Gabi says to herself that it sure as hell is, but hears “Jake” say that it absolutely isn’t, which angers her.

Update written by Joseph

Ben has Ciara blindfolded and brings her to an empty apartment which he reveals is their new home.

Devil Johnny enters the Horton House in the dark where The Devil recalls setting the Christmas tree on fire. Julie enters the living room and questions who is there and what they are doing in her house.

Craig tells Nancy that they need to go somewhere private. Nancy says she has nothing to say and mocks him being with another woman. Chloe argues that Craig said he would tell her. Craig says he tried to explain but she threw clam chowder on him and stormed off. Nancy asks again what else there is to talk about when her marriage is over and her husband is cheating on her. Nancy says that Chloe and Craig obviously know something that she doesn’t, so she asks which one of them is going to tell her about it.

Kristen returns to Abigail with dessert and asks if she’d like some peach pie. Abigail tells her that she can choke on her pie. Abigail grabs Kristen’s arm. Kristen warns her to let go but Abigail says not until she tells her what she did to her Uncle Steve and Aunt Kayla, as she reveals the licenses that she found. Kristen asks what she thinks she did to them. Kristen asks Abigail how DiMeras eliminate problems. Abigail then guesses that she killed them.

Ben tells Ciara that he’s been looking for apartments to surprise her and then he asked Julie for help, so they decided this is the best one. Ciara says she loves the apartment they have. Ben brings up having a baby and how they will need more room. Ciara jokes that they will need a warehouse. Ben tells her that the second bedroom here is crying to be a nursery.

Julie turns on the lights as Johnny tells her that it’s just him. Julie accuses him of breaking in to her house. Johnny apologizes for scaring her. Julie remarks that DiMeras don’t obey common decency laws and says you don’t just walk in to somebody’s house. Johnny talks about getting obsessed with ideas and forgetting what he’s doing. Julie asks if he just goes in to random buildings or if he had a reason for coming here. Johnny informs Julie that he was wanting to talk to Doug because he wanted to talk to someone else who knows what it’s like to have the Devil inside of him…

Craig repeats to Nancy that they need to talk to privately and asks to go back to her room. Chloe wants Nancy to calm down but she refuses. Nancy remarks that it looks like Chloe and Brady know what’s going on. Nancy adds that she dumped clam chowder in Craig’s lap at the Pub, so the entire town is going to know that he broke their marriage vows. Nancy questions what there is to talk privately about. Nancy then starts asking about the other woman and tells Craig to be straight with her. Craig says he will, but not with an audience. Craig declares he’s going back to the room and walks off. Chloe tells Nancy that he’s trying to do the right thing, so she asks her to go be with him. Nancy asks what she did to deserve this as she goes after Craig. Brady hugs Chloe.

Kristen tells Abigail that she didn’t kill Steve and Kayla, she neutralized them because they didn’t give her a choice since they were sticking their nose in her business. Abigail complains about her kidnapping. Kristen talks about Steve and Kayla going around Rome as a priest and nun while now they really are living a celibate life. Kristen adds that maybe they have found some peace. Abigail asks if they are on this island. Kristen warns that Abigail doesn’t want to meet the same fate they did.

Kayla wakes up on the floor of a room and wonders what the hell Kristen has done now.

Craig and Nancy go back to their hotel room at the Salem Inn. Nancy brings up that just yesterday, they were in bed together and she was the happiest woman in the world but she didn’t know who he was or what he had done. Craig apologizes to her for hurting her but Nancy doesn’t want to hear it. Craig calls himself a coward. Nancy thinks she knows why he wanted to come here and asks if he’s going to tell her it was all a big mistake and that he wants her forgiveness.

Julie questions what Johnny is saying to her. Johnny informs her that his movie is back on and Doug went through what Marlena did. Julie brings up how Johnny didn’t come visit when he got back from Italy and didn’t drop by for Christmas or send any cards when Doug was in the hospital. Julie argues that Johnny has never bothered with them at all and now he wants to talk to Doug to find out what going through Hell is like. Julie accuses him of just wanting to make money off Doug and Marlena’s suffering. Johnny remarks that Marlena is fine with it but Julie says she is not. Julie states that Johnny is combining his father’s arrogance with his mother’s towering insensitivity. Johnny claims he didn’t mean to offend her and admits he is everything she said. Johnny apologizes and says he does everything wrong and is like them. Julie acknowledges that he’s just young and stupid. Johnny asks if they can start over. Julie tells him it will have to be another time as she is going to take a housewarming gift to Ben and Ciara. The Devil’s interest is piqued as Johnny asks about them moving. Julie plans to make sure Ben and Ciara get a cross that says “God Bless Our Home”. The Devil then uses his powers to cause smoke in the kitchen, setting off the smoke alarm, and causing Julie to rush to check on it. Devil Johnny looks at her cross and mocks that it must have cost 4 or 5 bucks.

Ben talks to Ciara about apartment plans. Ciara worries that they are jumping the gun and paying more expensive rent before they need it. Ben thinks moving now will give them time to fix things up so they won’t be under so much pressure. Ben adds that they have to act fast since they aren’t the only ones interested in the place. Ben says he loves the place, but they are not moving in unless Ciara loves it too. Ben asks what she says.

Abigail asks Kristen what fate Steve and Kayla met. Kristen says she has told her everything she needs to know as she did not kill them. Abigail asks where they are and what she did to them. Abigail guesses they have to be somewhere on the island.

Kayla thinks back to fighting with Kristen over her gun until it went off, shooting a statue. Kayla wonders aloud if Kristen really killed Steve and where he is. Kayla then hears knocking from inside a locked box, so she opens it to find Steve with a bandage in place of his eye patch and they embrace. Kayla is thankful that Kristen did not kill Steve.

Kristen tells Abigail that her evidence doesn’t prove that Steve and Kayla are there. Kristen tells her that she can go look for herself and opens the door to the outside, remarking that she’s not a prisoner here which Abigail disagrees with.

Ben asks Ciara what she thinks of the place. Ciara admits she likes the layout and it would be fun fixing it up. Ciara asks when they would sign the lease. Ben then reveals that he already did because it’s the first of the month, so he had to move quick in order to not lose the place. Ben adds that he made the land lady agree to tear up the lease if Ciara didn’t love it. Ben says since she does love it, they could spend the night here if they wanted to. Ben asks Ciara what she thinks. Ciara says yes as they kiss.

Julie returns to the living room and tells Johnny that there was a fire on top of her stove. Johnny says thank God for the smoke alarm. Julie says the same about her fire extinguisher but says it doesn’t make any sense because she never turned the stove on. Johnny suggests it’s malfunctioning then and that she should get someone to look at it right away in case it happens again in the middle of the night. Julie agrees but really wants to get the cross to Ben and Ciara. Johnny offers to take it to them and says he wouldn’t mind at all. Devil Johnny then asks Julie for Ben and Ciara’s new address.

Craig tells Nancy that he can’t ask her to forgive him. Nancy asks why not and argues they are not the first couple going through this. Nancy thinks they can get past all of this if they love each other and he promises this won’t happen again. Craig responds that he can’t do that. Nancy asks if he’s telling her that he’s in love with this other woman. Craig confirms that he is in love, but with a man, leaving Nancy shocked.

Chloe tells Brady that this feels like being in the waiting room in the ER after a horrible crash and they’re just waiting to find out who makes it and who doesn’t. Brady encourages that this is not a matter of life and death so no one is going to die her. Chloe cries that she just doesn’t know how her mom is going to take it since Craig is her whole life. Brady assures that Nancy is tough. Chloe knows she’ll survive but wonders if she will be the same.

Nancy questions if after all these years, she was just a cover story. Craig insists that he loves her. Nancy complains that Craig never told her how he was feeling. Craig cries that he didn’t know. Nancy asks if this is the first man he’s ever slept with. Craig admits it is not as he knew he was attracted to men in college and confirms he was sleeping with men. Craig says he realized that wasn’t the life he wanted to live, so he put those feelings aside and married Nancy. Nancy cries that she has feelings too. Craig says he did love her and wanted to build a life with her. Craig states that he never cheated on her until now. Nancy questions Craig saying he loves this man and that he loves her. Nancy asks if he’s bisexual, arguing that he owes her the truth. Craig agrees that he does and declares that he is gay.

Ben tells Ciara that he planned ahead so she has hot cocoa for later, but for now he suggests they christen the new place. Ciara notes that she saw he made the bed up. Ben says he wanted tonight to be perfect as they kiss. Ben then picks Ciara up to carry her to the bedroom, but there’s a knock at the door. Ciara questions who that could be in their brand new apartment. Ben guesses it must be Julie, but he answers the door to see Johnny.

Kayla tells Steve that she was so scared and asks what happened. Steve explains that Kristen showed up at their hotel room in Rome with a gun. Steve says he didn’t know what happened to her. Kristen doesn’t know where they are and guesses that Kristen drugged her. Steve says the last thing he remembers was trying to get the gun away from Kristen, but she must have knocked him out and drugged him. Kayla wonders where they are. Steve looks over a supply shelf with water, flashlights, and an emergency kit. Steve notices an alarm on the wall. Kayla finds lanterns and hurricane safety pamphlets. Steve guesses it’s a storm shelter and bets they are on an island.

Abigail asks if Kristen is trying to scare her. Kristen says she’s just warning her that it’s a jungle outside. Kristen mentions seeing Abigail leave the house before on the cameras. Kristen adds that there is no one out there to help her as they are on an island in the middle of the ocean. Kristen notes that she isn’t the first to try to escape, but most die in the jungle before they ever see the water and the ones that do get that far wash up on the rocks. Kristen tells Abigail that this isn’t the beach of her dreams.

Craig can’t expect Nancy to understand. Nancy responds that she understands perfectly and argues that Craig married her while knowing that he was attracted to men. Nancy says she married him because she loved him, not thinking to ask if he was keeping anything from her like being gay. Craig responds that he didn’t tell her because he managed to control those feelings. Craig says they had a good marriage and beautiful children. Nancy complains that it was all based on lies and asks why now and why this man. Craig responds that it’s different now because he’s in love and now that he knows how he feels about this man, there’s no turning back.

Ciara greets Johnny with a hug and says it’s so good to see him. Ciara introduces Ben to her cousin Johnny. Ben asks what he wants. Johnny senses they weren’t expecting visitors but says he comes bearing a gift from Julie. Ciara calls that sweet but asks why Julie didn’t bring it herself. Johnny says that Julie had some fires to put out but she wanted them to have this right away and didn’t want them to spend another night there without it to protect them. Johnny says she wants them to hang it outside. Ciara opens the gift to see the cross and says it’s beautiful but questions why Julie thinks they need protection. Johnny presumes it was because the Devil is after their baby. Ben clarifies that the Devil was after their baby, but he has been exorcised. Ciara adds that Marlena is thankfully fine now so that is all over and done with. Ben brings up how Johnny was going to make a movie about this. Johnny confirms that he is since the producer wants it done right away. Ben tells Johnny to keep them out of his movie because he thinks him making a movie about what happened to Marlena is creepy, especially since she is Johnny’s grandmother and he’s going to make money off what happened to her. Johnny comments on Ben being devoted to Marlena. Johnny claims he’s not thrilled with the idea of the movie but Marlena is fine with it. Ciara thanks him for bringing the cross. Johnny notes that Julie sent a hammer and nails too so he thinks she wants it up as soon as possible. Ben thanks Johnny for bringing it by and says it was nice seeing him as he goes to hang it up. Johnny and Ciara say it was great seeing each other. Johnny comments on Ciara’s baby having a protective father as he exits.

Nancy tells Craig that he’s not going to be the one to say it’s over, it’s going to be her because she cannot be with a man who can just throw their lives away after all of this, because he just realized something he should’ve been honest about years ago. Nancy argues that he should’ve told her before she was his wife. Craig apologizes. Nancy doesn’t care how sorry he is and says she can’t stand to look at him anymore. Nancy wants him to leave because their marriage is over and dead. Nancy declares that Craig is dead to her too and yells at him to get out of her room. Craig then exits as Nancy breaks down crying.

Abigail tells herself that she’s not just going to sit around and do nothing, she’s going to find Steve and Kayla, and then they are all getting the hell out of here.

Kayla asks Steve if he thinks Sarah is here too. Steve doesn’t know for sure but he has a feeling they are not alone on this island. Steve says they need to get out of this place and find out who else is here. Kayla says she is ready if he is.

Recap written by Christine

Victoria, Nikki and Victor were at the main house, and they were meeting about Newman Media. Victor asked if Victoria didn’t want to wait for Ashland. She said he wouldn’t be joining them because he had an appointment to monitor his cancer treatment, but she’d fill him in later. Nikki thought it was wonderful how well the treatment was working. Victor mused that it almost seemed miraculous. Victoria called Ashland’s new treatment a godsend. Victor wondered if there was another reason Ashland wasn’t here today. Victoria reiterated that Ashland had an appointment; he wasn’t skipping out on the meeting. She said that when Ashland was getting chemotherapy, the side effects were awful, and it was hard for him to put on a good face. Now he was on a new treatment and getting stronger every day. Victor wondered why Ashland went all the way to Peru for treatment, when the best institutions were here in the USA. Victoria asked what Victor really wanted to say. Nikki thought Victor just wanted to know if Ashland was as well as he seemed to be. Victor wanted to know what the future held – Ashland had said he wanted to be more involved in the business, and Victor asked if Ashland would be able to withstand the stress. Victoria said that Ashland would do as much work as his health would allow. Victor commented again that Ashland seemed to have made a miraculous recovery.

Ashland was with Nate at Society. Ashland said he’d never believed in miracles until now. Nate replied that advances in medicine could feel miraculous. Nate admitted he’d had grave doubts about this protocol, given the unproven nature of the treatment, and how advanced Ashland’s cancer was. He said the results spoke for themselves – Ashland’s disease had stopped progressing. Ashland said the universe cut him a break. In the beginning, he had no intention of seeking treatment, but Victoria refused to accept it, and he fought his cancer for her. He knew he wasn’t out of the woods, but he was pleased he’d come so far. The treatment exceeded Nate’s expectations, and he’d never been happier to be wrong.

Lauren and Michael were at a table across from Ashland and Nate’s. Michael wasn’t listening to Lauren’s story about work, because he was focused on the next table. Lauren asked why Michael was fixated on Nate and Ashland. After swearing Lauren to secrecy, he revealed that there were some issues surrounding the clinic behind Ashland’s new protocol. The clinic was registered as a non-profit, but nobody knew where the funding was coming from. Michael explained that Ashland had been flexing his muscles around Newman/Locke since he began to recover, and that had Victor concerned about how it’d affect Victoria. When Victor heard about the clinic’s curious accounting, he became very suspicious.

Lauren suggested that non-profits in Peru didn’t have to be as transparent as they would in the US. She pointed out that a few months ago, Victor and Nikki welcomed Ashland into the family with an elaborate wedding, and now Victor was trying to undermine it. Michael said Victor was always ten moves ahead, and that made working for him so interesting. Lauren didn’t see why Ashland going back into the workforce was cause for suspicion. Michael thought it was probably good to be cautious of Ashland, given his history and reputation. “It is one thing to make allowances for a man who is about to die, but it is another thing now that it looks like he’s going to live,” Michael said.

Chelsea and Chloe packed up the penthouse for Chelsea’s move. Growing up in crummy hotels with Anita, Chelsea could’ve never imagined a place like the penthouse, and now she was about to walk out the door for the last time. She worked so hard to build a life here, and now there were just memories. She felt like a failure. Adamant that Chelsea was not a failure, Chloe made some optimistic comments about starting over. Chloe said Chelsea was taking control and reinventing herself, and once she closed this chapter, she could move forward to the future. Chelsea thought Chloe meant a future without Adam. “I am not gonna lecture you about what’s-his-name,” Chloe promised. Chloe said it sucked when life didn’t go as planned. She thought it was a good thing that Chelsea made the choice to take care of herself by moving out of the penthouse. Chloe said Chelsea was taking her power back. Chloe promised she’d always be there for Chelsea. They acknowledged they’d been through a lot together. There was a flashback to years ago. It was Christmas, and Chelsea had made it clear that she wanted Chloe to respect her decision to be with Adam. Chelsea then asked Chloe to be Connor’s godmother and raise him if anything happened to her and Adam. Chloe accepted, and they hugged. In the present, Chelsea called Chloe her rock. Chloe had a feeling things were going to turn around for them again.

Sally ran into Adam at Crimson Lights. He asked how she was doing, and she joked that she was going to become a professional snowboarder now that she was out of a job. He wanted to know how she was really doing. She admitted she was freaked out about her future. Sally came to this town to start over. She left Beverly Hills, one of the most glamorous places on earth, and came to Genoa City. She became Lauren’s gofer even though she’d run her own fashion house. And it was all for nothing. Adam pointed out that Sally played a role in the troubles she’d experienced. She conceded that she was responsible for a few of those roadblocks, but not this one. She put Newman Media on the map with the wedding dress. She felt she was a genius, but she was out of a job and out in the cold – she couldn’t even go to the beach to make herself feel better. He invited her to Society with him. She called it the best offer she had all day, then she admitted it was her only offer. He replied that the day wasn’t over.

Chloe and Chelsea met with Lauren at Society and Michael left. Lauren thought it was nice seeing the pair together again, and she said Chloe and Chelsea sparked off each other. Lauren said she and Chloe got over their issues surrounding Victoria’s dress. Lauren alluded the things Chelsea did when she worked for Lauren. Chelsea admitted that she’d behaved abominably. Lauren said they were putting that behind them, but it’d factor into her thinking. Chelsea said she’d changed and was focused on making a stable environment for her son. Chloe and Chelsea told Lauren that working together could be beneficial for them all. Sally arrived just in time to overhear Lauren say she’d entertain any proposal as long as it didn’t include Sally.

Sally walked over and said there was so much talent at one table. Lauren thought it was too bad Sally didn’t trust her own talent, because it was enough to make her a star. Sally was grateful Chloe gave her a chance after the mistake she made, and she was proud of everything they did together. Chloe was sorry it didn’t work out. Chelsea let Sally know she was interrupting a meeting. Adam arrived. Chloe wished Sally luck. Lauren coolly said Sally would land somewhere eventually. Adam put his arm around Sally and announced that she was coming to work with him at Newman Media. He offered her his arm, she took it, and they walked to the bar. Just as they were about to sit down, Adam got a call and had to step away from the table.

Ashland asked if Nate had given more thought to the job offer. Nate wondered if Ashland only wanted to hire him because of their friendship. Ashland made the offer because he trusted his gut. He said Nate would need mentoring and guidance, but he had all the tools he needed, and he had an invaluable worldview because he’d worked with people facing life and death problems. Nate was flattered, but he wasn’t ready to turn his back on medicine. Ashland understood, but he said the offer still stood. He wanted someone with Nate’s integrity and intellect to be on his team. Michael was outside on the phone. He thanked someone for the information, as he watched Ashland leave the table.

Michael went inside after Ashland left and approached Nate to dig for information. Michael was relieved to see Ashland was improving. He brought up the experimental protocol. Michael had his own bout with cancer, so he knew that at a certain point, people were willing to try any treatment. He asked if Nate thought this treatment was the breakthrough the world had been waiting for. Nate only had Ashland’s case to go on, but the evidence was compelling. He made an offhand remark that the results were almost too good to be true. Nate left, and Adam walked up and asked what Michael was doing for Victor. Michael said they hadn’t finalized that, but he thought Victor was a restless man who saw Michael as a kindred spirit. Michael left.

Adam joined Sally. She thanked him for the save, which she assumed he did to make her look less pathetic. She said she’d tell people later that they couldn’t come to terms on the job offer. “As much as I enjoyed that mic-drop moment, I actually have been considering offering you a job. For real,” he told her. He knew her goal was to turn the platform into an actual fashion house, because design was her passion. Sally said Victoria pulled the plug on all of it. Adam said Sally was business savvy, and she had drive, and Victoria liked her, which was half the battle. Adam knew this wasn’t a dream scenario, and he didn’t even know what she’d do or what her title would be. “A job is yours if you want it,” he said. She took his hand, which caught Chelsea’s eye. Sally wanted the job.

Chloe said they’d be willing to do an exclusive line for Fenmore’s. Chelsea wasn’t participating in the discussion, because she was watching Sally and Adam. Chloe touched Chelsea’s arm, and Chelsea began to take part in the pitch. When Chelsea faltered, Chloe was there to keep the talk going. Lauren loved what she heard, and she wanted to meet again after Chloe and Chelsea put together a business plan. Chelsea said she was thrilled, but she looked depressed as she watched Adam and Sally toasting.

After Lauren left, Chelsea told Chloe her speech was brilliant. Chelsea apologized for getting too distracted to fully contribute. Chloe understood this was an emotional day for Chelsea. Chelsea said it was no excuse – this was important. Chloe was glad Chelsea recognized that. Chelsea wanted to know why Adam came to Sally’s rescue and pretended to offer her a job. Chelsea could tell Sally was shocked, which meant this position didn’t exist. Chelsea was sick of the games. Chloe told her not to engage, and Chelsea said it wasn’t that easy. Chloe said Adam had his company sold out from under him, and Sally got cut loose, but Chloe and Chelsea were on to bigger and better things. As they were leaving, Sally approached and said it was exciting that they were all taking on new challenges, or hoping to in Chelsea and Chloe’s case. Sally wished them luck with Lauren, who could be a stickler. Adam returned with Sally’s coat and put it over her shoulders. Sally said she was headed to the office to discuss the details of her new job. Chloe gave Chelsea’s arm a squeeze. Adam and Sally left, and Chelsea reminded herself to keep her eyes on the prize.

Sally and Adam went to his office. Earlier, she’d felt rotten and sick of all the backstabbing and maneuvering that was directed at her, but now… She hugged him and thanked him for the chance. They stared into each other’s eyes.

Ashland went to Victoria’s office, and she was glad when he said that the cancer was in check. He said he’d been bracing for the worst, but she told him to only think positive thoughts. He felt impossibly lucky, and they kissed. He wanted to hear about her meeting. She said her father was curious why he wasn’t there. Ashland thought that was funny, because he sensed Victor would rather deal with Victoria alone, then when Ashland wasn’t there, Victor questioned it. Victoria said her father was always looking for a reason to be disappointed. Victoria said Victor kept wondering about Ashland’s treatment and his overall health.

Victoria said Victor claimed he wanted to know what things would look like moving forward. Ashland said he didn’t know, because the treatment was new. All he knew was that he was happy to have today. Victoria thought that Victor had also been trying to shake her up a little bit. “I’m sure my dad wants me to act like a proper Newman and see you as a threat,” she said. He noted that Victor liked him well enough when it looked like he’d be dying soon, but now it looked like Ashland might get well enough to help run Victor’s empire. “What was he thinking? That I would use these gifts that I’ve gotten to undermine my wife?,” he asked. Victoria said this was all coming from her dad, and her mom was trying to keep the peace. Ashland wished Victor would stop trying to plant doubts into Victoria’s head. Victoria loved how cool and calm Ashland was about this. He said he wasn’t like the other men in her life. He was used to squaring off with his fellow masters of the universe and besting them. Ashland said Victor expected unconditional loyalty from his children, but he reserved the right to shift his own loyalties as he saw fit. Ashland had observed that Victor’s go-to move was to keep all his kids off balance. Ashland said Victor was trying to subvert Victoria’s trust in Ashland. “He realizes that you and I are much more formidable as a team. And I think that he was hoping that my illness would keep me from being a force at Newman/Locke,” Ashland said. Ashland stated that Victor would have to contend with the fact that Ashland would be a full partner in this business with Victoria. “I’m back. And whatever Victor may be planning, I will stand with you,” Ashland stated.

Michael went to Victor’s and reported that he saw Ashland and Nate. Michael thought it was strange that the pair were so chummy. Victor knew that Nate offered Ashland some treatment suggestions. Michael still didn’t think it made sense for Nate and Ashland to be friends. Michael said Nate was a genuinely good person who dedicated his life to healing people, while the Locke Ness monster apparently liked to crush his enemies before breakfast. Victor conceded that people could change after confronting their mortality, but he also found it odd that Ashland asked Nate to be his best man without really knowing him. “Decency by association,” Michael suggested. Michael said he asked Nate about the cancer protocol Nate was on. Michael repeated Nate’s offhand remark that it was almost too good to be true. Michael wondered if Ashland was lying and this treatment wasn’t really stopping the spread of the cancer, and if so, what would be the motive for that?

Victor wasn’t sure what Ashland’s motives were, but something didn’t seem right. Michael did some digging earlier and learned that there was a shell company financing the clinic in Peru. “Guess who the trail leads back to,” Michael said. It was Ashland. Victor wondered why Ashland would conceal the fact that he was funding a clinic in Peru, a clinic that had a therapy that saved his life.

Victor wanted Michael to travel to Peru and stay there as long as it took to figure out what was going on. Victor was unfazed when Michael pointed out that he’d set boundaries for this job and said Lauren was his priority. Michael knew Lauren would not be happy about him taking off to South America. He groaned in frustration, but he accepted the assignment, because he was eager to unravel this mystery. Victor smiled, and said he knew this would pique Michael’s interest. Victor raised his glass. Michael glared, but he did the same, and they clinked drinks.

Recap written by Christine

Abby and Chance were at home getting ready to go to Mariah and Tessa’s party. She noted that they hadn’t been to a party since his welcome home gathering, which she knew was a rough night for him. He said it wasn’t easy, but he was glad he had her to lean on. She’d need to lean on him tonight, because she expected that everyone was going to have comments and questions about the custody agreement. He promised to do what he could to handle it. Abby told Dom he’d have the best time with Louise while his Mommy and Daddy celebrated Aunts Mariah and Tessa. She said she’d read him a bedtime story if he was awake when she got home. Abby got concerned and called Chance over. She thought Dominic was breathing a bit too fast.

Later, the baby fell asleep, and he seemed fine to Chance, so he thought it’d be okay to leave him in Louise’s capable hands. Chance was proud of himself because it was the first time he’d gotten the baby to sleep.

Amanda finished a work call, then she and Devon held each other and swayed without music. She could feel the tension in his muscles, and she asked if he was having second thoughts about the party. He said he’d never Mariah and Tessa’s special night. He knew Abby and Chance would be there, and he hadn’t talked to them since they signed the custody papers. He hadn’t talked to a lot of people though, so he didn’t think it’d be awkward. She offered to field any questions people had, and she said she’d give them as much information as Devon wanted her to. He didn’t want to share any details at all, because he didn’t want to be in the spotlight on Mariah and Tessa’s night. Amanda thought thing would go smoothly. He said she was always looking out for him and the baby, and she said that was what an attorney was supposed to do. He thought it was more than that. He saw the way she looked at Dominic, and he noticed she got up and checked on him when she thought Devon was asleep. It surprised Devon. It surprised Amanda too. She’d never been that close to a baby before Dominic, and she thought he was a little miracle. She thought the baby liked her. Devon knew Dom liked Amanda. It was unlike anything Amanda ever experienced. She said he looked at you like you were the most amazing thing, and you wanted to be that amazing. She asked if that was what it felt like to be a parent. He thought so. It was new to him. She never had a parent when she was little, so it was new to her too, but she loved it. She kept imagining what Dominic would be like when she grew up. She asked if that was okay for her to say. He said it was more than okay.

Faith and Moses decorated Crimson Lights for the Tessa’s album launch party/engagement party for her and Mariah. Faith wanted to make sure everything was perfect for the guests of honor. Sharon came out of the backroom and told the teens that it was perfect. Noah showed up and admired the decorations, his gaze lingering on a large photo of Tessa with Mariah. Faith broke the trance by asking Noah’s artistic advice on the way she’d decorated it. He shared his opinion, which was positive. Nick came. Faith had a board with some of Tessa’s most romantic lyrics about Mariah, and the intention was for the guests to sign it and leave notes for the happy couple. She offered Noah first dibs at signing, but he said he didn’t know what to say. Moses suggested that Noah say he hoped Tessa and Mariah’s love lasted a thousand years. Nick told Noah he needed his help. Faith told Noah not to forget to write something. “I wish I could,” he muttered, then he went over to Nick.

Nick and Noah brought in a box, and Nick said they were copies of Tessa’s album, on vinyl, as God intended. They were party favors for the guests. Nick thought Noah did a great job on the album.

Rey came out of the back room. Moses let Faith know that the guests of honor were there. She briefly panicked because the other guests hadn’t arrived yet, but Moses said they could scatter and make the place look more full. Faith put a smile on her face and announced Mariah and Tessa’s arrival. Mariah and Tessa walked in from the patio with their hands over their eyes until Faith said it was okay to look. The fiancees thought the décor was beautiful, and they were moved by the fact that it was for them. Mariah said it was almost as beautiful as Tessa and they kissed.

There was a backdrop on the patio for photos, and Moses asked Noah to take the pictures. Noah declined, because he’d been drinking champagne. Nick offered, but Faith stepped in because he was bad at taking pictures. Mariah was relieved. Mariah and Tessa posed with silly props while Faith snapped he photos. Nick joked that if Mariah insulted him again, there would be no wedding gift. There was a large wrapped package from Kevin and Chloe, who’d broken the no-presents rule because they couldn’t make it to the party. The gift was a metal shield from Mariah and Kevin’s favorite series. Mariah thought it was the most Kevin gift ever. Tessa thought the gift was perfect, which made Mariah love her more.

Devon and Amanda arrived, and they wondered if she and Chance weren’t coming. Mariah and Tessa thought they’d be there. Mariah asked how the shared custody thing was going. Devon said they were just getting their feet wet. Mariah asked how Abby was doing. Devon said he was doing all he could to make it easy for Abby. Mariah shared that she and Tessa were hoping to adopt. Devon said adoption changed his life together. Amanda got emotional whenever she thought about a child finding a home. They both said Mariah and Tessa could come to them for questions about it. Mariah asked if anyone had heard from Chance and Abby. Rey said he talked to Chance about coming to work tomorrow.

Across the room, Faith told Noah that she might want to get a business degree. Abby and Chance arrived, and everyone said hello.

Devon, Mariah and Abby were together. Devon said he was afraid Abby and Chance weren’t coming, and Abby replied that it was hard to tear herself away from Dom. Mariah was happy Abby and Devon had made peace. Abby said this night was about Mariah and Tessa, not her and Devon. Devon agreed. Mariah continued that she couldn’t help but think of when they embarked on this adventure. She knew that things didn’t always go as planned, but she thought the bumps in the road made the Baby Chancellor crew’s bond stronger. She said they’d always be connected because of Devon and Abby’s child. Mariah said that Mariah would always be included in that. They all held hands, then Mariah said that they could get the party started now that the sappy stuff was out of he way. All the couples took pictures in front of he back drop. Afterward, Nick took pictures with Faith. He tried to get the solemn Noah to get int the photo, but he wouldn’t.

Sharon got Abby by herself and asked if Chance found a therapist. Abby said he declined therapy, but she noticed him connecting with Dom earlier, so she was optimistic.

Chance and Rey talked, and the partners teased each other. Afterward, Abby privately told Chance that he didn’t have to go to work tomorrow if he wasn’t ready, but he said he was.

Mariah ended up in a private talk with Noah. He said he knew Tessa told her some insanity about him having feelings for her. He wanted Mariah to know there was nothing to worry about, and he didn’t want her to hate him. She said she wasn’t upset with him, she was upset with herself. She hadn’t forgotten how she and Tessa got together in the first place. “The two of you were a couple,” she said to Noah. He told her that was a lifetime ago, and they’d moved on. She thanked him for forgiving her and for understanding. She loved him and couldn’t help hurting for him. Mariah couldn’t blame anyone for realizing Tessa was awesome. She just wanted him to be okay. He said he was, and he wanted her and Tessa to be ecstatically happy forever.

Nick asked how Abby was. He heard about the custody agreement, and it surprised him. She said it happened so fast, and she couldn’t handle interference from her family. She said Dominic would have more love in his life than he knew what to do with. Nick said if Abby was okay with it so was he. He was here if she needed anything. They hugged.

Sharon made a speech, saying they were here to celebrate the happy couple, and the music that was inspired by their love. Sharon called Tessa a musical genius. They played the album. Mariah said she heard music every time she kissed Tessa. The couples danced. Noah brooded in the background. People signed the lyric board. Abby wrote that she, Chance and Dominic, AKA Bowie, wished the fiancees a lifetime of love. Sharon said that Mariah and Tessa had been through so much, and they loved and supported each other through all of it, which made them an inspiration.

Noah wanted to make a speech, and Sharon suggested that he do it later, but he said he’d given this a lot of thought, and he knew what he wanted to say. Noah would never forget the first time he heard Tessa sing. It was the most beautiful thing he’d ever heard, and that was when he realized how special she was. He was so glad she found someone just as special to spend her life with. He said that love like that didn’t come around every day – there was a beauty in its strength. He said they should all be so lucky to find a love like Tessa and Mariah’s one day – they were made for each other and proof that dreams came true. He raised a toast. Abby said they had to find Noah someone to love like that. Mariah thanked Noah, then everyone else for being there with them tonight. Tessa siad they wouldn’t be where they were today if not for the support of all of them. Mariah was honored to be part of this loving group. Tessa thanked Mariah’s family for making her feel like she belonged. She especially thanked Sharon for teaching her about love and motherhood. Mariah was so excited to walk down the aisle to Tessa. Tessa didn’t realize they were having an aisle. Mariah said there were details to work out, but there would be a wedding.

Chance and Abby said goodbye and left. Tessa told Mariah that it would be them one day – running home to their little one.

Tessa saw Noah drew a heart on the lyric board.

Amanda and Devon said their goodbyes and left.

Faith pulled Mariah aside and asked if it was time. Mariah said this was the perfect time. Faith put on the music, and Mariah and Tessa danced. Tessa felt like she was dancing on a cloud. Sharon and Nick watched Noah with concern, and she said maybe it was a bad idea to put Noah through this. Nick felt bad for him too, and he went over and suggested they got to a movie. Noah turned back and stared longingly at Tessa.

When Chance and Abby got home, Louise said Dominic slept the whole time and didn’t even wake up to take his bottle. Abby seemed surprised. She knelt down by the playpen and called Dominic several times. She asked Chance if he thought the baby looked pale.

Recap written by Christine

Abby and Chance were at home discussing her decision to delay the meeting with Devon to sign the custody agreement. Abby said once the papers were signed, it couldn’t be undone. It hurt knowing she couldn’t see her baby whenever she wanted. He promised they’d get through this together. She said she’d miss Dominic on a molecular level and she couldn’t relax when he wasn’t around. He asked if she was having second thoughts. She said no. Dominic was just as much a part of Devon as he was of her, and she couldn’t deny them the chance to share their lives and love. Chance hugged Abby and told her she was a great mom and that Dominic would always know how much they loved him.

Devon and Amanda were at Society. He was eager to get the papers signed, and he was unaware that Abby had postponed the meeting. He hoped that once the papers were signed, they could put all the tension behind them. Amanda hoped this was a good start for the future. As they were leaving for their meeting with Abby and Chance, they ran into Christine, who told them about Abby’s decision. Devon realized Abby had texted him about it, but his phone had been on silent. Devon was worried Abby was backing out of the agreement. Christine said not to jump to conclusions. Abby texted again that she was ready to meet. Everyone went to the Chancellor house.

Abby brought Dominic downstairs. He was supposed to be at his music class with Louise, but Abby decided he should be here with his family on this important day. The papers were signed, and once they were filed with the court, they’d be official. Christine was impressed with the way they handled this. Amanda thought Dominic was lucky to have so many people who loved him. Chance looked at Abby and said he felt they were the lucky ones to have such a great little kid and a good friend. Christine left. Devon thanked Abby and Chance. He knew it hadn’t been easy, and he knew it would take awhile for him and Abby to get back to where they were. She smiled and said she was fine. Devon wanted to hold Dominic, and Abby handed him over. Devon played with the baby, while a smiling Amanda watched. It was clearly hard for Abby, and she squeezed Chance’s hand. Chance mentioned that Dominic missed his music class. Abby said he loved it when she sang the songs. Devon asked if he could download the music from the class, so he could hear what the baby liked. Chance said they’d get him a link. Amanda suggested that Devon could accompany Abby and Chance to the class. It was clear from Abby’s expression that she didn’t love that idea. However, when Devon said he didn’t want to impose, Abby said it wouldn’t be an imposition. Abby added that Louise was happy to help out when Dominic was over at Devon’s place. Devon thought it’d be good for Dominic to have a familiar face in both places. Chance asked if they wanted to discuss overnight arrangements, but Devon didn’t think they had to do that now. Devon gave Dominic to Chance and thanked Abby and Chance for the beautiful gift.

After the guests left, Chance told Abby he was proud of the way she handled things, though he joked his hand was numb. He told her she could hold onto him as tight as she wanted, and she said the same went for him. He wanted to make a tradition of making time for each other whenever Devon had Dominic. He said they could go on a date, relax, take the cooking class she’d been talking about and make up on lost time. It sounded perfect to her.

Abby watched Dom sleep. Chance kissed her and went to make lunch. Abby called Ashley and said signing the papers was the hardest things he’d ever done, but she knew it was right.

Lily and Billy were in her office. She had a busy work schedule ahead, and she also wanted to see Devon after he signed the custody agreement. Lily had an interview with a reporter, and she said she’d find Billy in his office after she finished. He let her know he was leaving work to run some errands. She wondered what he was doing, and he said she’d see. He blew her a kiss and left.

Lily went to the penthouse and welcomed Devon to parenthood. He said he’d be coming to her for advice. She said that Dom was young, so Devon should just cherish this time and not worry about the future. They looked at a photo of Neil. Devon used one of Neil’s pen to sign the paperwork. He wished Neil and Dominic were here right now, so they could all celebrate. “You have me,” Lily said. Devon replied that it meant to world to him. He was thinking about how it felt when Neil and Dru brought him into the family. The feeling of becoming a son to two incredible people changed his life and gave him a life. He had big shoes to fill. She had no doubt he would.

At the Grand Phoenix, Jack asked if Phyllis made her travel arrangements for Milan. She was leaving today, and she was excited to see Summer. Nick came in, but he didn’t overhear what was being said. Phyllis said she was going to get some information on the job before she made a decision. She said she’d tell Jack about the job when they had dinner together. Nick walked over and said he wanted to have a fundraising dinner for New Hope at the hotel. Phyllis was happy to help. Jack left. Phyllis told Nick about the possible move to Milan.

Jack and Billy met at Crimson Lights. Billy was glad Jack’s business trip went well. Jack said Kyle deserved most of the credit – he’d really stepped into his own as a leader. Jack was also proud of Billy for dropping the fight with Adam and joining Lily at Chancellor. Billy asked why it looked like Jack just lost his best friend. Jack filled Billy in on Phyllis leaving town. He said he was going to have a bit of a hole in his life. Billy got the sense that Jack was hoping he and Phyllis would get back together. Jack said that he and Phyllis couldn’t ever get things on track, and maybe it was a good thing. Even with the best of intentions, he and Phyllis could never really sustain things. He told Billy not to take it as a dig. Billy said it was hard not to take it that way. Billy asked what it was about Phyllis that created such chaos and conflict, while also generating passion and devotion. “She is one beautiful conundrum,” Jack replied.

Back at the penthouse, Lily had some ideas for Dominic’s room. Devon wanted to put a sound system in the room so the baby could listen to music. Amanda came home after filing the papers with the court. Devon didn’t know how he’d get through this without Amanda. Amanda looked forward to the adventure with him and Dominic. They kissed. Billy showed up with two bottles of champagne. One for now, and one for Devon to save and share with an adult Dominic when he graduated from college or joined Hamilton-Winters.

Billy and Lily gave Devon a photo album for the baby. It was inscribed with a card welcoming Dominic to the Winters family. Devon couldn’t wait to fill the book with memories.

Back at the hotel, Phyllis liked the idea of working with her little girl and living in Milan. Nick asked what about Jack. He thought Jack and Phyllis were going to rekindle things. Phyllis said they were friends, and Jack was encouraging her to pursue this. Nick was supportive, as long as Phyllis was doing this for the right reasons. He said a change of scenery might be exactly what she needed. Phyllis was put out because it seemed like everyone wanted her to leave town except Amanda and Michael. Maybe [Amanda and Michael are] my only really good friends,” she said. Nick just stared. Jack returned with a gift he’d bought for Harrison, but he’d accidentally packed it in his luggage. Nick told Phyllis to have a great trip and left. Jack asked if Phyllis had a good talk with Nick. Phyllis said it was great – Nick seemed supportive of her move. Jack noted that Phyllis didn’t seem enthusiastic. She said she wasn’t. She rushed over and hugged him. “Tell me to stay. Tell me I’m wanted. Tell me I’m needed. Tell me you still love me. Tell me we have a future together like we’re supposed to,” she cried.

Jack asked Phyllis if everything was alright, which snapped her out of her daydream. She’d never admitted she wasn’t enthusiastic about the move, hugged him or poured her heart out to him. Jack had a meeting, and he also hoped Phyllis found what she was looking for. He asked if he could do something. At first she said yes, but then she changed her mind. He looked forward to their dinner. He left. Phyllis called for a car to the airport.

At Crimson Lights, Tessa told Mariah that she looked amazing. They were going to be meeting with an adoption attorney later. Mariah had texted Noah earlier and asked if he wanted to meet them for coffee, but he didn’t reply. Mariah could see that Tessa had been freaking out about something for a few days and trying to hide it so she didn’t upset Mariah. Mariah asked if it was cold feet or adoption jitters. Tessa assured her that it was neither. Mariah reminded Tessa that they didn’t keep secrets. Tessa said she found Noah drinking alone the other day. Mariah said she’d been too caught up in her own life to notice something was wrong with her brother. Tessa revealed that Noah basically admitted to having feelings for her. Tessa reiterated that Noah had been drinking, and he had a bad breakup in London. She stated that his life was in major flux, so she thought he was just nostalgic and caught up in the moment. Mariah asked what Noah said, exactly. Tessa explained that Noah brought up the engagement and said when you loved someone you wanted them to be happy. He’d said he loved Mariah, but…

Mariah surmised that it was clear that Noah meant he loved Tessa.

Tessa noted that Noah didn’t specifically say he was in love with her. She didn’t think Noah intended to act on his feelings for her. Mariah knew Noah wasn’t malicious, so she believed he genuinely was happy for them. She wasn’t angry. She felt sorry for Noah. She suggested Noah fixated on Tessa because she was out of reach. Tessa thought that made sense – Noah knew she was happily and irreversibly spoken for, so nothing could come of it. “That’s what I thought about my feelings for you way back when and yet…,” Mariah noted. Tessa said that was different because Mariah was the love of her life, and they were inevitable. Noah walked in on the pair holding hands.

Noah walked over and teased Mariah and Tessa about treating Crimson Lights like their living room. Noah meant to text Mariah back, but he’d been busy at work. He was meeting Nick here. Mariah teased Noah back about sucking up to the boss. Mariah and Tessa shared that they were meeting an adoption agent. He wished them well and checked his phone, then he excused himself. Tessa was pleased that the dynamic with Noah hadn’t changed.

Nick went to Crimson Lights and talked with Noah about business. Noah had accomplished a lot, and Nick said Noah was working hard. He wondered if Noah was throwing himself into work to avoid something. Nick asked if Noah was okay and if this had anything to do with Tessa. Noah said he was okay. He went inside to get some coffee, and he asked Tessa and Mariah if they wanted anything. Tessa went with Noah.

Noah said he got a weird vibe from Tessa and Mariah earlier. “You told her, didn’t you,” he sighed. He asked what possessed her to do that. She said she had to tell Mariah, and she didn’t do it to hurt or embarrass him. Noah said that Tessa misunderstood what he said. She seemed skeptical. She said more than once secrets almost ruined her relationship with Mariah. Tessa wasn’t going to let that happen again. Mariah meant everything to her. Noah said he wasn’t a threat to the relationship. Tessa knew. Noah said he could only imagine what Mariah thought of him. Tessa assured him that Mariah understood. She said they all wanted things to go back the way they were before. She knew he need time to process this, but she said she and Mariah were okay with things. Tessa told Noah that this would pass. Tessa said her life with Mariah was about to get bigger and wonderful than Tessa deserved, and she didn’t want Noah to think he couldn’t be part of that. She said her kid would need his uncle Noah, and she knew the right woman was out there for him.

Nick came inside and wished Tessa and Mariah luck as they left for their meeting with the adoption guru. Nick wanted to check how Noah was doing. Noah lied and said he just got a text from a friend who wanted to meet up. He left.

Recap written by Christine

Nick and Faith were at Crimson Lights. Her college counselor had recently helped her narrow down her list of colleges, and so far Faith was leaning toward the University of Michigan. She looked forward to visiting it with Sharon in a couple weeks. She’d been thinking she might want to go into the fashion or beauty industry, like Summer and Victoria, and University of Michigan had a good business program. He asked where this interest in business came from. Faith really liked the econ class she took, plus she had a lot of businesswomen as role models and relatives – Victoria, Sharon, and Summer. Nick believed in Faith. Faith wasn’t sure she wanted to do this, but she wanted to explore it. He said she didn’t have to make a decision yet. She said Moses had his heart set on being a doctor, and then he changed his mind. He understood being inspired by her family, but he didn’t want them to have too much influence. He wondered if Victor had given her career advice. She said Victor didn’t say anything, but she looked up to him, and she thought he’d be happy she might follow in his footsteps. Nick was sure Victor would be thrilled.

Lauren met Michael on the patio at Crimson Lights. He was doing some work for Victor. She asked what Victor wanted. Michael wasn’t sure what Victor wanted, since Victor was often cagey about what he was up to. That was why Lauren was surprised Michael was so eager to go back to work for Victor. Michael said that Victor, like Lauren, kept life interesting. Michael was about to tell Lauren about a call he had with Fenmore, when he had to stop to do something for work. Lauren was resigned to it being like this from now on, but Michael said he’d set up boundaries to make sure he had a personal life. Nick came out as Lauren said that she’d hoped Michael would have a little more time between resigning as DA and going to work for Michael. Michael promised to make it up to Lauren. Nick was surprised Michael was working for Victor again. “Better you than me,” Nick stated.

Nick wished Michael and Lauren luck with the arrangement and left. Lauren wanted to know what Victor had Michael doing, since it seemed cloak and dagger. Michael brought up lawyer-client confidentiality. Lauren wasn’t sure she liked this new gig. Michael had to take a work call again.

At their home, Nikki asked Victor if Adam was going to work for Newman/Locke. Victor wasn’t sure. She asked what he’d do if Adam said no. Nikki knew Victor was disappointed in Adam, but she also knew he valued their father-son relationship, which had come a long way. He said he’d do anything in his power to maintain a good relationship with his son. She’d always be wary of Adam, but she didn’t want him and Victor to have a blow up. Nikki wasn’t surprised when Victor revealed that he had a plan B in mind, in case Adam didn’t stay at Newman Media.

Sally went to Adam’s office to see if he’d made a decision yet and offer another pep talk. He said he’d made up his mind, and she’d hear his verdict soon. He walked out.

At the Newman/Locke office, Ashland thought he and Victoria should discuss what would happen if Adam stayed on at Newman Media. Victoria was confident that Adam would never deign to work under her. She thought that he hadn’t quit yet because he was playing mind games. Adam showed up, and Victoria thanked him for all he’d done for the company and wished him best of luck with his future endeavors. Adam commented that Victoria was very sure of his decision, and she said that was because it would be the only one that made sense. He said to call him crazy then, because he was staying on. He was a team player, and he didn’t want to dump such an important piece of family legacy in her lap when she already had so much on her plate. Victoria welcomed Adam aboard. He noted that he’d been on board, so he should be welcoming her. Ashland wanted to make this a smooth transition. Victoria was sure Victor would be thrilled, since he worked so hard to protect Adam’s job. Adam thought his work spoke for himself. He said the success of Newman Media was enough to prove he knew what he was doing. He expected to maintain the same level of autonomy. Victoria wasn’t ready to grant that.

Adam thought they should ask Ashland’s opinion. Adam noted that Victoria didn’t seem to be consulting with Ashland about the company that was once his. Victoria said she and Ashland talked constantly. Adam was sure Ashland could see that he’d taken Cyaxares to new heights. Ashland sided with Victoria. He said Adam had done a good job, but once Newman Media merged with ChancComm, it’d be a larger division, so giving Adam instant autonomy might be a bit much. Victoria said Adam would have to prove he could run this larger company. Adam pointed out that he once ran Newman Enterprises. Victoria remembered. Adam said he looked forward to showing them what he was capable of.

Chelsea was at Society with Chloe. Chelsea complained that it was just like Victor to blindside Adam with this sale of Newman Media to Victoria. Chloe lamented that all their hard work at Newman Fashion might go down the drain. Chelsea thought their jobs would be safe as long as Adam stayed on at Newman Media. Chloe wasn’t so sure of that, and she hated leaving their fate in Adam’s hands. Chloe always worried about accepting a job from Adam. Chelsea wasn’t giving up yet, and she thought they needed to fight for their platform. Chloe was glad to hear that. Chloe put so much energy into this, mainly for Chelsea. Chloe felt like she owed Chelsea after all Chloe put Chelsea through. Chloe agreed that they shouldn’t let this obstacle get in their way. Chelsea said they didn’t have to leave their fate solely in Adam’s hands. She said they could go straight to the top.

Victoria was alone in her office when Chloe and Chelsea showed up. Chloe congratulated Victoria on the sale and said she hoped that Victoria honored their contract with Newman Media. Chelsea said they’d be happy to share their accomplishments and goals with Victoria. Victoria felt a connection to the platform because Sally made her wedding dress, but she intended to jettison Newman Fashion. Chloe and Chelsea protested, but Victoria had made up her mind. Victoria knew that Chelsea and Chloe eventually wanted to have their own label, and she said this way she wouldn’t’ be holding them up. Victoria thought the ladies were talented, but Newman/Locke wasn’t interested in the hassle and cost of creating a new clothing line. She wished them the best.

Chloe and Chelsea went back to Newman Media. Chloe suggested that they could keep the platform, minus the Newman Media name. Chelsea said they didn’t have financing. Chloe knew they’d get severance, and she said maybe they could use the money to shop around for a buyer for the platform. Or they could find investors. Chelsea said everything they’d done so far belonged to Newman Media, so it was Victoria’s intellectual property. Chloe said they could start from scratch, like they did before. Chelsea was open to that, but she didn’t want Sally to be part of their new platform. Chloe thought Sally was a proven asset, but Chelsea disagreed, and she said the downsides of Sally outweighed the benefits. “Why are you still so threatened by her when you and Adam are clearly over?,” Chloe asked. Chelsea said Sally couldn’t stay in her lane, and Chelsea had a feeling that Sally knew about the sale beforehand and didn’t warn them. Chloe asked if Chelsea had proof, and Chelsea said she saw it in Sally’s face. Chelsea said she and Chloe trusted each other implicitly. She asked if Chloe knew Sally well enough to trust her with their future.

Chloe and Chelsea arranged a meeting with Sally at Crimson Lights. Sally said they could just keep working and prove how invaluable they were. “I’m guessing Adam didn’t give you the head’s up this time?,” Chelsea said. Chelsea brought Sally up to speed – Adam was running Newman Media, and the fashion platform was being killed. “Adam would never do that to me – to us,” Sally replied. Chloe said Victoria pulled the plug. Sally didn’t think they should give up. She said Victoria liked her. Chelsea said they already tried to talk Victoria out of it. Sally asked what they were all going to do. Chloe said it was time for them to go their separate ways. Sally said they could start a new platform on their own and find another company to back them. Chelsea told Sally it was time to move on.

“I could’ve predicted that Chelsea would throw me overboard, but you too, Chloe?,” Sally asked. Sally noted that she and Chloe got the platform up and running while Chelsea was deciding whether or not she even wanted to join them. Chloe said she was as devastated by this as Sally was, she just thought it was time for them to cut their losses. Sally said that Chelsea and Chloe had enough money and people to rely on until they moved on to whatever it was they were planning to do. Sally though the others were conspiring to start something without her. “So what if we are? We don’t owe you anything,” Chelsea snapped. Sally said Chelsea and Chloe’s project would fail, because Sally was the one that made the fashion platform a success. She brought up the risks she took with Victoria’s dress. “Enough with the dress. It was one garment,” Chelsea shot back. Chelsea said Sally had some nerve predicting Chelsea and Chloe would fail. “You are a has-been,” Sally said to Chelsea, “and you are a fool to follow [Chelsea] around,” Sally told Chloe. “So good luck with Chelsea 22.0 or whatever number you’re at now,” Sally said before storming off.

Adam tracked Victor and Nikki down at Society and asked to join them. Nikki said they’d been eager to hear from him. Victor was pleased when Adam announced he was staying with Newman Media. Nikki adopted a stiff smile. Victor asked if Adam told Victoria. Just then, Victoria and Ashland arrived and went over to the table. Victoria said they should celebrate. Victor agreed to a toast. Adam smiled and said he couldn’t say no to champagne. “You might want to. You might tick off your new boss,” Victoria replied. She went to the bar. Ashland pulled Victor aside and said there were some changes he wanted to implement to strengthen Newman Media. Victor thought Victoria should be present for this. Ashland was sure Victoria would agree that, since his specialty was communications, he should take point on this. Victor said they should go back to the table, and they did. Victor raised a toast to to his two children and to all things Newman. Victoria and Adam didn’t look enthusiastic about the arrangement.

Adam said he looked forward to working with everyone, and he suggested that the key was staying out of each other’s hair. Adam had to go tell the Newman Media staff about the sale. Victoria told Adam to call her assistant to set up a meeting for him and Victoria, and he said he would. Ashland thought he and Victoria should go back to the office too. Victor wanted to discuss the transition of power with them next time they met. Victoria and Ashland left. Nikki said that was more civil than she expected. Victor said he knew what he was doing. Nick showed up, and Victor told him that Victoria and Adam had decided to work together. Nick didn’t know how Victor pulled it off. Nick said Victor had assembled all the troops – Victoria, Adam, Ashland and Nikki. Nikki added that Victor would be working there in and advisory role. “So many members of the Newman family working so closely together,” Nick said. He warned Victor to be careful what he wished for. Victor smirked.

Victor felt that having the family work together was a boon for the company. Nick hoped it went well, especially since there was another Newman who might become an executive. He told them about Faith’s plans, and he asked if Victor had anything to do with that. Victor said Faith had good sense. He suggested that one day, Faith might be able to convince Nick to work for the family business. Nick didn’t think that would happen. Victor was sure Nick loved working with Noah. Nick did enjoy it, but his concern with Newman/Locke was that there were a lot of cooks in the kitchen, and most of them thought they were the head chef. Nick’s takeout was ready, and he went to get it. Nikki thought Nick’s concerns were valid. She asked what Victor was talking to Ashland about. Victor said Ashland seemed to want to push through some changes without Victoria being there. “I knew it,” Nikki said. She thought the power dynamic between Victoria and Ashland was changing. Victor said it seemed that, now that Ashland could manage his illness, he wanted to exert more power and leverage. Victor wasn’t going to allow that. Nikki asked if Victor didn’t think Victoria could handle Ashland on his own. Victor said that was beside the point.

Nikki and Victor went home, she wanted to talk about how he was planning to take on a bigger role at the company than he’d indicated. Michael came to discuss business with Victor. Victor asked Nikki to leave. Nikki protested that she was the COO of Newman/Locke, but Victor still wanted her to go, so she did. Michael said there seemed to be some question regarding the legitimacy of Ashland’s cancer treatment. There was also some question regarding the legitimacy of the Peruvian clinic that Ashland went to for said treatment. Victor had been skeptical about this from the beginning. He thought it was odd that Ashland traveled all the way to Peru to look for a cancer treatment, when the best scientists were in America. He told Michael to dig deep.

Adam went back to his office and wistfully took it all in.

Back at the office, Ashland wondered if it had always been Victor’s plan to unite the family under the Newman corporate umbrella. Victoria said bringing the family together had always been one of Victor’s goals. Ashland wondered what Victor thought of his role – would he settle for being an advisor? Victoria said they needed to redefine Ashland’s role first. She thought their conversation from yesterday was unresolved. She wanted to know how he saw them specifically functioning. He wanted to take on a more active role, and he hoped she welcomed that. He told her to imagine what they could accomplish in a united front. She agreed, and she saw the sense in him having more control, since he was more familiar with some of the divisions that were previously part of his company. He was glad she saw things the way he did.

Elena and Nate were at the Grand Phoenix on their day off. He pictured the mountains of paperwork piling up on his desk at work. He didn’t realize how much administrative duties a Chief of Surgery would have. It made him wonder if he should take the job at Newman/Locke. Nate said Ashland suggested Nate could use his medical expertise to do good on a larger scale, and he even offered to mentor Nate on the private sector. Elena remembered that Nate took business classes in school. Nate said Ashland brought up AskMDNow, and Elena worried she was being replaced. Nate clarified that Ashland was talking about expanding AskMDNow. Nate didn’t feel as passionate about being of Chief of Surgery as he did about being a surgeon, but that didn’t mean he was ready to leave the hospital. Elena blamed herself for Nate not being able to do what he loved.

Nate didn’t blame Elena. He said he made his own choices, and he deserved the punch from Devon. She didn’t think he deserved the lasting consequences. He stated everyone, especially Devon, felt bad about that. Elena still wished she could go back and change things, but Nate said no regrets. He was happy with her, and Devon was happy with Amanda. He had a great life, and he didn’t long for the past because he was happy where he was now. He loved her.
