Days of Our Lives Update

Belle and Talia meet with Melinda. Belle thanks Melinda for meeting with them and goes over how Talia has agreed to testify against Colin in exchange for her freedom but Melinda reveals that she has changed her mind and no longer wants to trade one dangerous criminal for another. Belle argues that it’s not Melinda’s job to determine whether she is dangerous or a criminal. Melinda declares that in court, she will present a case that will put Talia away for a long time.

Rafe and Jada go over the files in Abe’s missing persons case. Rafe talks about hoping they would find something that they missed if they went over everything again but they didn’t. Jada encourages that they will find Abe and holds Rafe’s hand.

Paulina sits at home as Chanel finishes a call with the health department. Chanel informs her that they are going to let her reopen the Bakery but Paulina continues to worry about Abe.

Whitley brings Abe oatmeal for breakfast. Abe remarks on having this every day. Whitley pretends to be Paulina and talks about renewing their vows. Abe says it would’ve been nicer if their family was there. Whitley then says she has a surprise for him and announces his son is back in Salem.

Theo goes to the Brady Pub where Kate greets him, saying it’s so good to see him but wishes it was under better circumstances. Kate praises Theo for delivering Abe’s speech at the Juneteenth celebration. Kate encourages Theo about how strong Abe is and that he’s working on getting back to him. Theo wishes he could be so sure.

Abe tells Whitley that he thought Theo lived overseas. She responds that he came back home because of his situation. Abe asks if he’s going to see him. Whitley says that’s right. Abe feels maybe seeing his son will lead to him remembering everything.

Kate tells Theo that she and Abe have known each other for a long time, but she really got to know him when Theo was in the hospital, fighting for his life after being shot. Kate talks about Abe never leaving Theo’s side and she watched him go through parent Hell. Kate thinks Abe’s love for Theo is what willed him to come back and she believes that same love is going to will Abe back to him. Theo hopes that she’s right. Theo then gets a text and says he has to go because someone needs him right now. Kate asks what it is but Theo rushes out of the Pub.

Whitley tells Abe not to get his hopes up because he may not remember Theo right away and that’s okay because these cases just take time. Abe asks why Theo isn’t there now. Whitley says seeing him will be stressful for both of them, so he wanted her to break the news to him first. Whitley adds that she just texted Theo and he’s on his way.

Eli surprises Rafe at the police station. Rafe hugs him and says it’s good to see him. Rafe introduces Eli to Jada, noting that he’s also Abe’s son in law. Eli figured he’d come by and see if he could help. Jada hopes a fresh pair of eyes may help. Jada shows Eli what they have and says they spent the night going over everything but nothing is jumping out at them. Jada wants to walk him through everything but Rafe tells Jada to go home and get some rest and he’ll let her know if anything happens. Jada reluctantly accepts and tells Eli it was good meeting him and she hopes he can bring them some luck. Jada then exits. Rafe tells Eli that Jada is great and she’s been through a lot but never gives up and she’s a real asset to the team. Eli tells Rafe that he’s happy for him as she seems like a good girl and there’s clearly something going on between them. Eli tells Rafe that he knows he’s not going to deny it. Rafe argues that he only said Jada has an incredible work ethic and has been a good asset to the team. Rafe admits it’s been intense between them because they have been working so closely together. Eli says they have worked a lot of cases and they never held hands, but when he walked in, Rafe and Jada were holding hands. Rafe then admits that he and Jada are attracted to each other, but they also both know that nothing can come of it.

Jada goes to the Brady Pub where Kate greets her. Jada hugs her and says she’s so glad to see her alive and back. Kate comments that Jada looks like she’s feeling a little rough and asks if she had a night on the town. Jada says they spent all night at the station going over Abe’s case. They sit together as Kate calls it a nightmare and prays that Abe is somewhere alive and well. Jada repeats that she and Rafe spent the night going over everything they have. Kate hopes their personal relationship won’t be a distraction to working on the case. Jada asks why it would be. Kate admits that she reads Leo’s column and he recently quoted that Jada and Rafe were being affectionate in the office. Kate says she doesn’t put stock in gossip but Jada admits that it’s the truth.

Paulina informs Chanel that Olivia is packing to go home and she’s pretty upset about leaving before they found Abe. Chanel is distracted on her phone and asks what she said. Paulina asks if she’s okay. Chanel explains that she was just about to post a job opening for Sweet Bits Bakery and it gave her a bad case of deja vu. Paulina guesses that it reminded her of Talia. Chanel informs Paulina that she ran in to Talia as she’s out on bail and was putting up missing posters for Abe. Paulina questions why she was doing that. Chanel guesses she was trying to help her case in hopes that Melinda goes easy on her.

Belle argues with Melinda about Talia and Colin. Belle says that Colin is responsible for everything Talia did and brings up that Colin, on his own, held a gun to Paulina’s head while trying to get her to jump from a roof. Belle asks if Melinda really thinks a guy like that should walk. Melinda argues that she has a rock solid case against Colin without Talia’s testimony since Jada was an eye witness which will give her enough to lock up Colin for a long time. Melinda mocks that it would be hard to keep a relationship while they are in separate prisons. Melinda brings up that she has Talia’s confessions to drugging the biscuits and trashing Paulina’s office, so she could use her own words to prove that she’s guilty as hell. Belle says there is no need to pile on. Melinda questions if she’s supposed to be polite to Talia when her drugged biscuits sent her to the emergency room and could’ve killed someone. Melinda asks if Talia even thought about that while Talia holds back tears. Belle argues that Talia saved Paulina and Chanel’s lives while risking her own. Melinda argues that they never would have been on the roof if not for Talia. Melinda states that she does not take her job lightly and she’s gone over the evidence. Belle presents Melinda with a paper that she says is something new.

Whitley moves Abe from his wheelchair to the couch. Abe talks about being nervous and hoping that he recognizes Theo. Whitley encourages Abe that Theo will understand his condition. There’s a knock at the door and Paulina then brings in someone else to pretend to be Theo.

Chanel tells Paulina that she thinks Talia is trying to work an angle that everything was Colin’s fault. Paulina asks if that’s what she said. Chanel admits that Talia apologized and tried to take responsibility for what she did. Paulina asks if Chanel is thinking of forgiving Talia. Theo then arrives and hugs Paulina. Theo says he came as soon as he got Chanel’s text and asks what’s up. Paulina explains that Olivia is about to leave and she refused to without seeing Theo one more time.

Abe tells “Theo” that he’s sorry that he doesn’t remember him. Whitley encourages that they just need time together. “Theo” talks about his flight from South Africa and gets it mixed up with South Africa while Whitley tries to cover. “Theo” asks to talk to “Paulina” outside so they step out, leaving Abe confused. “Theo” complains that she didn’t tell him that this was the Mayor and argues that he knows something is off. Whitley blames him and says she sent him Theo’s background while he complains that he didn’t have time to read all of that and he didn’t expect to get grilled. He argues that Abe is a good guy that needs help and his real family. “Theo” tells Whitley that he’s sorry and he can’t do this.

Eli questions Rafe saying nothing can come of this when he and Jada are both single. Rafe brings up the jobs. Eli says he knows from experience that two cops getting together isn’t easy but he and Lani proved it can work. Rafe argues that they were partners while he’s Jada’s boss and there are new regulations in place that call for grounds for dismissal. Eli admits he forgot about the new regulations. Rafe knows Eli must be thinking he has real bad luck when it comes to women and he would be right.

Kate tells Jada that she’s happy for her and Rafe. Jada explains that the only reason Rafe kissed her was because he was high on those tainted biscuits. Kate feels that when Jada talks about Rafe, there may be something there. Jada says they work together and brings up the guidelines. Kate says screw the guidelines and mentions how she was just telling Eric and Sloan that life is short, so they don’t want to waste the little time they have or else they’re just getting older. Kate encourages Jada to just go for it if she’s interested.

Belle asks Talia if she takes responsibility for drugging the biscuits and vandalizing Paulina’s office. Talia confirms that she does. Melinda says she’s just making her case for her. Talia then reveals that she is under the care of a psychiatrist, Marlena Evans. Belle hands Melinda a signed affadavit from Marlena, detailing their relationship and says she truly believes that this changes everything. Melinda reads it over and states that the worst thing about being in an abusive relationship is the shame you feel. Melinda reveals that her ex-husband was a very controlling man that she was so afraid of, to the point that she kept her daughter a secret. Melinda admits she sometime wonders how she found the strength to break away from him. Belle tells Melinda that she’s so sorry that they both have had to suffer like that, but it’s clear that Melinda understands what Talia has been through and she knows that was really painful for her to share. Belle asks what Melinda thinks this means for Talia’s case.

Chanel and Theo return to Paulina from sending Olivia off in a taxi. Paulina offers Theo breakfast but he declines and says he has to get going to the police station to help find Abe.

Jada questions Kate really thinking that she should go for it with Rafe. Kate admits that she and Rafe have a history as they dated years ago and even though she had issues with a lot of things he did, she will say he’s a rare breed and a good man. Jada brings up the work thing. Kate thinks they should just make that work out. Kate suggests no more PDA in the office but what they do in the privacy of their own homes is no one else’s business.

Rafe gives Eli all the witness statement and repeats that maybe a fresh pair of eyes will see something they missed. Eli notes that Rafe can barely keep his eyes open, encouraging that he should take his own advice and go home, get something to eat, and rest. Eli says he’ll call if he needs anything. Rafe admits he’s too tired to argue. Rafe tells Eli that it’s good to see him and he’ll be back this afternoon. Rafe then exits the room. Eli opens up the folder on Whitley’s witness statement and begins to read it.

Whitley stops “Theo” and says he can’t back out on her now as she paid him good money and calls it a great challenge for an actor. Jerry argues that he’s an actor, not a con man. Whitley claims that she’s not asking him to con anybody. Whitley brings up his grandmother having no health insurance, but thanks to her, she got the help she needed in the hospital so he owes her big time. Whitley claims that this is only to help Abe with his recovery. Jerry argues that it’s only confusing him while Whitley says she is Abe’s nurse, so she knows best. Jerry asks what to do if Abe starts asking questions. She encourages him to just improvise and make stuff up. Whitley then gets a phone call from Eli, who says he is investigating the disappearance of Abe Carver and he needs her to come to the police station right away. She claims she can’t because her cat is sick and she can’t leave him. Eli says he’ll come to her then but Whitley then says she’ll just have a neighbor come over and she’ll see him soon. Whitley tells Jerry to go be with Abe because she has to go somewhere. She offers him an extra $100 to stay with Abe. Jerry reluctantly agrees as Whitley hurries off. Jerry then heads back inside to pretend to be Theo. Abe asks what they were talking about, where “Paulina” went, and what is going on here.

Belle goes to the police station and sees Rafe. Rafe asks how Shawn is. Belle says he’s not great as he’s still reeling from everything that happened in Greece and on top of that, he’s feeling guilty about not being able to help find Abe. Rafe tells her to tell Shawn not to worry as Eli is there, so they have it covered. Rafe asks if there’s anything he can do for Belle. Belle responds that she’s actually there to see Jada as she has news about Talia’s case.

Melinda tells Talia that she will recommend probation, community service, and continuing to see Marlena. Talia thanks her and says she never expected this to happen. Talia asks if there’s anything she can do. Melinda instructs her to just keep going to therapy, work on her self worth, and get to a place where she can feel that she deserves with kindness and respect, so that what happened with Colin will not happen again.

Paulina reminds Chanel that they were talking about Talia before Theo showed up. Paulina asks again if she’s thinking about forgiving her. Chanel says that hearing Talia talk about Colin and how he manipulated her and took advantage of her to get her to do things that she didn’t really want to do. Paulina calls it emotional abuse, like what Ray did to her. Chanel relates it to what Colin’s father did to her. Paulina asks if she thinks Talia was a victim in all this. Chanel acknowledges that Talia loved Colin and was afraid that she would lose him if she didn’t do what he told her to do. Chanel hates what Talia put them all through, but knows that Talia is in real pain. Paulina adds that it will take a long time to get over it.

Abe asks Jerry again what he had to talk to “Paulina” about. He tells Abe that she got a call and had to run an errand. Abe asks again what they had to talk about alone. Jerry claims that he asked her if him showing up here upset Abe and says it’s weird as he doesn’t know how to talk to him when he doesn’t remember him. Abe agrees that it is weird and says he’s sorry. Jerry says it’s not his fault and guesses they just have to try to get to know each other again. Jerry sits down and asks Abe about the White Sox.

Whitley goes to the police station and recognizes Theo. Theo asks if he knows her. Whitley says no but that she was one of Abe’s nurses and she was there when Paulina was trying to jog his memory. Whitley calls Abe a wonderful man and calls it a terrible thing that happened to him. Theo asks why she is here. Whitley explains that she got a call from Eli to come down. Theo reveals that he was here to see Eli too, explaining that Eli is Abe’s son in law , so he’s here to help him and they are not going to stop until they find Abe. Theo notes that Whitley seems nervous. She says she just doesn’t know why she was called down since she already told the police everything she knows. Eli then comes over and tells Theo that he needs to speak to Whitley alone. Theo agrees to wait as Eli takes Whitley in to the interrogation room. Eli thanks her for coming in and has her sit down. Whitley repeats that she already told the police everything. Eli says now she can tell him everything she knows. Eli says he was going over her statement about the day that Abe went missing and she was on duty. Whitley confirms that she was but she told the police that she didn’t see anything. Eli notes that she couldn’t have because she left work early, hours before the end of her shift, and he’d like to know why.

Belle returns to Talia and asks if she’s okay. Talia says she’s overwhelmed and can’t believe she’s not going to prison. Talia thanks Belle. Belle says that sometimes the prosecution and defense work together to get it right. Belle mentions that she went to the station to tell Jada the good news but she was already gone. Talia asks if she should call her but Belle says she thinks Rafe was going over to tell her.

Rafe goes to Jada’s and knocks on the door, saying he has some good news. Jada then answers the door in a towel.

Paulina tells Chanel that after all the terrible things Colin did, he still denies taking Abe out of the hospital. Chanel says the police say they are sure he didn’t but she knows that Eli is going to find out who did and make sure that person pays.

Whitley claims to Eli that she was sick that day so she went home early. Eli brings up Whitley saying her cat was sick earlier and asks what was wrong with her on the day that Abe went missing. She claims she felt she was getting the flu so she couldn’t be around patients like that. Eli notes that she didn’t mention that in her statement. Whitley didn’t think it was important. Eli says that’s not up to her and asks her to tell him everything that happened that day without leaving anything out. Eli then gets a call and says he’ll be right back. Eli answers the call and exits the room. Whitley thinks back to Theo saying that they are not going to stop until they find Abe. Whitley declares to herself that she doesn’t have a choice and that Abe Carver has to die.

Abe tells Jerry that he thinks he’s a Cubs fan. Jerry claims he forgot. Abe apologizes and knows this is hard on him. Abe then gets a headache and thinks he needs to rest. Jerry offers to help Abe up but notes that he doesn’t seem very steady and asks if he has a cane to help him out. Abe then stops and has a flashback to a conversation with Theo about his walking cane before his wedding. Abe looks confused as Jerry asks if something is wrong.

Alex asks Brady why they should care that Maggie is pissed, questioning what she’s really going to do and pointing out that it’s not the same as Victor being mad. Alex declares that they made a better deal for Yuri and now Maggie is going to have to learn to live with that.

Chad questions Maggie offering him a job at Titan. Maggie states that he would be her second in command. Stephanie notes that being Alex’s old job. Maggie confirms that and would want Chad to start right away. Chad questions what Victor would think about having a DiMera running the inside of his company. Maggie points out that a DiMera was once CEO because Victor hired Chad himself. Chad points out that Victor also fired him. Maggie calls Chad a brilliant businessman and she knows he would be an asset to the company. Maggie adds that she’s in charge now anyway so Victor would defer this to her. Maggie says when it comes to the family feud, Brady and Alex work for DiMera, so she questions why Chad can’t work for her.

In Chicago, Illinois, Sarah goes to see Rex. Rex guesses something is wrong and asks if it’s the baby. Sarah responds that everything is fine but she got home and got a voicemail. She plays the voicemail for Rex of Bonnie telling her that she doesn’t know if she can keep her secret. Sarah worries that she’s screwed. Rex encourages her to call Bonnie and talk her down which Sarah agrees to do. Bonnie guesses Sarah got her message and swears that she hasn’t told Xander about the baby, but she did tell one person. Sarah questions who she told. Bonnie says it was just Justin.

At the Brady Pub, Xander suggests Justin pull up a chair and tell he and Chloe everything that’s been going on with him. Justin claims that there’s nothing to report. Xander asks if he’s sure since he is acting nervous which is unlike him. Justin then responds that there is something and he has every right to know what it is.

Sarah questions Bonnie telling Xander’s cousin that she’s having his baby. Bonnie argues that he’s her husband and asks what she was supposed to do. Sarah argues that she was supposed to not tell anyone. Bonnie insists that Justin would never break attorney-client privilege. Bonnie adds that everything will be okay as Xander is very busy and it’s not like Justin will be seeing him or hanging out with him. Sarah asks if she means Xander is busy at work. Bonnie repeats that Xander is very busy and then reveals that she means with his new girlfriend, Chloe Lane.

Xander tells Justin not to leave them hanging and asks what the big news is. Justin responds that it may come as a surprise. Justin then thinks back to Bonnie begging him not to tell and agreeing not to. Xander asks Justin what he has a right to know. Justin then claims it’s just that Alex has gone to work for Basic Black. Xander questions that being the big news. Chloe guesses Brady gave Alex her old job. Xander brings up that Brady practically begged Chloe to take her job back, but she decided she would rather work with him at the Spectator. Justin questions them living together and working together. Xander says that’s the way they like it, noting that Maggie tried to get him to go back to Titan but he said no. Xander wonders who Maggie will get to take Alex’s place.

Chad tells Maggie that he’s flattered by her offer, but he already has a job. Stephanie notes that’s working for her at SJPR and calls Chad her most valuable employee. Maggie points out that Titan is one of SJPR’s most lucrative clients, so they would still be working together and one of Chad’s responsibilities was working as a liaison with SJPR. Maggie adds that Titan headquarters is right down the street. Chad informs her that he just told Doug and Julie that he and the kids are moving out. Maggie asks where he’ll be moving. Chad responds that they don’t know yet as Stephanie reveals they are moving in together.

Brady warns Alex not to underestimate Maggie, noting that she is as tough as she has to be. Alex remarks that she’s no pushover but she has no idea how to run a business. Belle arrives and hands Alex his employment contract to sign which he agrees to do now. Belle tells Brady that she has another matter to discuss with him. Alex signs the contract and returns it to Belle. Belle asks if he read all the fine print. Alex says he trusts them and that his cousin would never screw him over so he calls going to work for them the best decision he’s made in a long time. Alex then acknowledges that it seemed they needed to talk, so he exits the office. Brady asks Belle if the other matter is DiMera business. Belle responds that it’s about Kristen.

Maggie congratulates Chad and Stephanie on taking that big step as she hopes they find the perfect place to start their life together. Chad thanks her. Maggie says it will be wonderful for the kids and she knows they are crazy about Stephanie. Stephanie assures that she loves them very much. Maggie states that they are lucky to have a wonderful father and to have Stephanie in their lives. Stephanie feels that she is the lucky one. Maggie hopes that Stephanie will support Chad if he decides to accept her offer. Chad admits that he can’t say he’s not interested, but he just needs some time to think about it. Maggie understands but tells him not to take too long as she is ready to go with her plans for Titan and filling that position is crucial. Chad asks her to tell him what her plans are. Maggie responds that EJ and the others are so sure that she doesn’t know what she’s doing, so she’s going to take advantage of that and give DiMera Enterprises a run for it’s money. Maggie congratulates them again and says she looks forward to hearing from Chad as she exits. Chad and Stephanie agree that they’ve never seen that side of Maggie before. Stephanie asks what Chad is thinking. Chad doesn’t know as he did not see that coming.

Brady assumes this is about Rachel which Belle confirms. Belle says he asked her to make sure the ruling giving him custody of Rachel was ironclad. Belle confirms that there is no wiggle room for Kristen as Brady is the sole legal custody of Rachel, but Kristen wants to dispute the ruling. Brady asks if she’s heard from Kristen’s legal team at all. Belle notes that she hasn’t which is very strange. Brady says he hasn’t either, so Belle wonders where Kristen is and what the hell she is up to.

Sarah is shocked to learn about Xander and Chloe, asking how that can be when Chloe hates him. Bonnie reveals not anymore as Chloe is living with him. Sarah guesses that Xander really has moved on then. Bonnie points out that it’s only because Xander thinks he has no chance with Sarah. Bonnie believes that if Xander knew Sarah was pregnant, he would drop Chloe in an instant, so she suggests maybe Sarah should tell him about the baby.

Justin says he has no idea who Maggie will hire to replace Alex as he’s not apart of her inner circle. Xander remarks that he’s pretty sure that inner circle is just Maggie and Victor. Justin mentions having a sick wife at home, so he’s going to get her chicken soup. Xander worries that Bonnie is suffering from more than just a head cold which Justin questions. Xander remarks that when he saw her, it was like she knew something that she didn’t want him to find out.

Chad and Stephanie eat dessert together. Chad notes that she’s been kind of quiet since Maggie left. Stephanie calls her a tough act to follow. Chad would like to know how Stephanie feels about the job offer. Stephanie thinks he has to consider taking it since it is a very important position, but he would be taking Alex’s job that he loved.

Alex walks through the town square and talks to Sonny on the phone. Alex tells him the new job is going great and that he doesn’t have a problem working for DiMera. Alex notes that he tried to stay at Titan but Victor’s power mad wife had other ideas. Alex knows Maggie tried to give him the job back but says it would just be a matter of time before she had some other reason to fire him. Alex tells Sonny that he and Maggie have parted company and he couldn’t be happier.

Brady tells Belle that she’s right that radio silence has never been Kristen’s style. Belle brings up that Kristen sued for full custody when Brady tried to give her visitation rights. Brady wonders if she’s trying to make them sweat. Belle points out that he knows her better than she does. Brady admits that Kristen could be doing anything, but remarks that at least she won’t be going after Chloe this time. Belle asks how he knows that. Brady explains that Chloe was only a target before because Kristen thought that Chloe would end up raising Rachel, but that’s off the table now. Belle questions why. Brady realizes that Belle hasn’t heard and reveals to her that Chloe is now living with Xander, which shocks Belle. Belle asks if Chloe is out of her mind.

Justin claims not to know what Bonnie could possibly be hiding from Xander and that he’s sure she was just being her. They say it was good seeing each other as Justin goes to get his order. Xander asks Chloe if it was just him or if it seems like Justin knows whatever Bonnie knows. Chloe admits that Justin did seem uncomfortable, but maybe he’s just anxious to get home to his sick wife.

Bonnie asks Sarah if it would be so bad to tell Xander that he’s going to be a dad. Sarah argues that she doesn’t want Xander back in her life, so she and Justin are just going to have to keep it to themselves. Bonnie insists that their lips are sealed. Bonnie wishes her luck and hangs up. Sarah informs Rex that Bonnie told Justin everything and that Xander is dating Chloe now. Rex asks if she’s okay. Sarah asks why she wouldn’t be since she and Xander are divorced and repeats that she wanted him out of her life. Sarah remarks that Xander can date whoever he wants and then declares that she can too as she kisses Rex.

Belle can’t believe that Chloe is seeing Xander, noting that she hasn’t said anything to her about it. Brady figures Chloe knows Belle would go through the roof. Belle brings up all of Xander’s past crimes which Brady assures that he’s well aware of. Belle guesses Kristen must have pushed Chloe way too far. Brady guesses Chloe must just see something in Xander that they don’t.

Xander and Chloe return home to their apartment. Xander pours them glasses of wine. Xander says he still can’t get over how sketchy Justin was acting tonight. Chloe mentions that he didn’t stop talking about it the whole way home. Xander asks if she’s tired of him talking about his family and their strange behavior. Chloe says she actually likes it because it lets her know the real him. Xander asks if she wants to know the real him which she confirms as they kiss. Xander asks Chloe if she’s sure that she wants to sleep alone tonight.

Sarah kisses Rex until he stops her. Sarah questions what the problem is as it’s not like this hasn’t happened before. Rex says this is different. Sarah guesses he’s afraid to see her without her clothes on while she’s pregnant. Rex insists it’s not that so Sarah asks what the problem is. Rex informs her that he saw her face when she found out about Xander and Chloe. Sarah claims she doesn’t care about that and was just surprised because she thought Chloe had better taste. Rex knows that Sarah was nuts about Xander. Rex adds that he hasn’t made it a secret that he wants another chance with her, but he wants a real chance not some rebound sex which is what this would be.

Justin returns home to Bonnie with chicken noodle soup. Bonnie says it will fix her right up and starts eating. Justin mentions that he ran in to Xander and Chloe at the Pub. Bonnie hopes he didn’t tell them. Justin confirms that he didn’t which relieves her. Bonnie adds that she just got off the phone with Sarah and she’s so mad at her for telling him that she made her swear they won’t tell Xander about the baby. Justin repeats that he’s not happy about this as Xander is far from perfect but it is his baby that Sarah is carrying. Bonnie insists that she tried to convince Sarah to come clean with him, but she won’t budge. Justin guesses they have no choice but to do what she says. Bonnie wishes she didn’t know. Justin hopes that Sarah’s secret doesn’t blow up in their faces.

Chad returns to Stephanie, who notes that he was in the kitchen for a long time. Chad claims he was just loading the dishwasher while Stephanie feels that he’s upset with her. Chad states that he just doesn’t understand why Alex’s feelings should factor in to whether he takes the job. Stephanie explains that Alex tried really hard to make it work with Maggie but she fired him without giving him a chance. Chad asks how that’s their problem and remarks that Alex is a big boy who can take care of himself, so she doesn’t always have to worry about him. Stephanie responds that she doesn’t always worry about him. Chad points out that Alex landed on his feet with a good job at Basic Black, so he doesn’t see what the problem is. Stephanie remarks that she doesn’t like the optics of Chad taking Alex’s girl and then might end up with his job. Chad argues that Stephanie is her own woman and made her own decision on who she wanted to be with. Stephanie says that’s true, but she still feels weird about the offer and it’s not only because of Alex. Chad asks what else. Stephanie feels Maggie has completely changed since Victor made her CEO. Chad asks how so. Stephanie explains that Maggie fired Alex for not getting the Kasnov deal when it wasn’t his fault that Yuri had second thoughts. Stephanie wonders who is to say that Maggie won’t do the same to him and says she’d hate to see her kick him out. Chad guesses he’ll just have to do a better job of staying on Maggie’s good side than Alex was. Chad notes that he doesn’t have to make a decision right now. Stephanie says that’s not what Maggie said. Chad declares that Maggie is going to have to wait and right now he’d rather not be talking about work, but looking at possible dream houses for her and the kids. Chad kisses her as Stephanie says that sounds good and pulls out her laptop.

Alex sits in the town square having a beer as Maggie walks by and greets him. Maggie informs Alex that she thought he should know that she found someone to take his spot at Titan and she didn’t want him to read about it in the Spectator. Maggie tells him that he’d get along a lot better in this world if he didn’t have that chip on his shoulder. Alex brings up that she fired him, so he doesn’t need her self help. Maggie asks if he’s not going to ask who she found. Alex congratulates her and hopes they can both move on. Maggie then informs him that it’s Chad. Alex says good for him, but he thought he was working for Stephanie. Maggie confirms that he is, but she thinks he will accept her offer. Maggie adds that Chad and Stephanie will see enough of each other now that they’ve decided to move in together. Maggie then tells Alex that she will see him back at the house and walks away.

Belle still can’t believe that Xander and Chloe are living together. Belle tells Brady that she’s so sorry as she knows how much he loves Chloe. Brady says there’s not much he can do about it, so it’s pretty much over and he doesn’t want to dwell on it. Brady asks how Belle is doing instead. Belle admits that she’s not great as Shawn is still drinking. Brady says he needs help. Belle says that he doesn’t see it that way, especially after Victor laid in to him. Brady offers to talk to Shawn since he’s been where he is. Belle thanks him for offering and says she might take him up on that, but right now she’s trying to get Shawn to make an appointment with Marlena but he says he’s not ready. Belle talks about Shawn swimming in guilt and thinking that Bo is in a coma because of him. Brady repeats that he’s so sorry about that. Belle says she has to go and tells Brady to let her know if he hears from Kristen. Belle adds that she knows that Brady thinks things are over with Chloe, but she encourages him to hang on because Chloe is going to see Xander for who he really is since everybody does. Brady thanks Belle as she then exits the office. Brady pulls out his phone and looks at a photo of he and Chloe.

Xander guesses he came on too strong. Chloe says no and that she thought she was ready to move on with her life, but she doesn’t think that’s possible quite yet. Xander guesses she’s still not over Brady. Chloe assures that she wants to be, but she’s just not yet and she doesn’t want to lead Xander on. Xander understands and admits that he’s still missing Sarah. Chloe asks what they should do in the meantime. Xander suggests they keep getting to know each other and take their time. Chloe likes the sound of that. Xander decides to check what’s on TV and they decide on the Marx Brothers.

Sarah admits that Rex is right that she was using him to forget about her problems and she’s sorry as that’s the last thing she wants to do. Rex points out that most guys wouldn’t mind being used in that particular way, but with her he wants it to mean something. Sarah wishes she was over Xander. Rex jokes that he does too. Sarah hates that what Xander does with his life still gets to her. Rex points out that all she knows is that Xander and Chloe are living together, which doesn’t mean they are sleeping together. Rex adds that Bonnie’s word isn’t gospel. Sarah feels that Xander isn’t the type of guy to live with someone that he isn’t sleeping with. Sarah decides she is going to go because they are both on duty early tomorrow. Rex tells Sarah that the second she gets over Xander, she knows where to find him.

Bonnie tells Justin that she feels better already after the soup. Justin comments that he noticed Xander and Chloe seemed happy together. Bonnie suggests Chloe will be a good influence on him, like Justin was to her. Justin wonders if Brady knows about them.

Brady continues looking at the photo of he and Chloe on his phone.

Xander and Chloe watch TV together as Chloe thinks back to her relationship with Brady. Chloe then looks at Xander and lays her head on his shoulder. Xander thinks back to his relationship with Sarah, then smiles and puts his arm around Chloe.

Sarah exits Rex’s apartment and thinks back to her relationship with Xander as she then walks away.

Belle goes home and finds an empty bottle of vodka on the floor as she looks to her and Shawn’s wedding photo.

Chad and Stephanie look for houses online and then they kiss.

Alex remains in the town square as he thinks back to being with Stephanie as he finishes his beer.

Chad sets the table at home as Julie walks in. Chad asks how Doug is feeling. Julie mentions making him soup as he’s still recovering from the flu. Julie thank Chad for spending time with Doug earlier and says it took his mind off Abe. Chad responds that Doug lifted his spirits as well, as he always does. Julie then asks Chad what his plans are for the evening since she noticed him setting the table. Chad responds that if it’s okay, he was hoping to have Stephanie over for dinner.

Stephanie goes home to Steve and Kayla, telling them that the Juneteenth celebration was amazing and they were missed. Kayla says she would’ve loved to have been there if not for a hospital emergency while Steve says that he and John didn’t want to let up on the search for Abe. Stephanie mentions that Abe was supposed to give the speech but Theo stepped in for him and did such a great job. Kayla says this whole thing is so horrible, asking who would want to kidnap Abe. Steve says that’s what they are trying to figure out. Stephanie then gets a text from Alex and says he was just sharing some good news.

At Basic Black, Alex and Brady have finished signing a deal with Yuri Kasnov, who previously rejected Alex’s deal in Titan. Brady credits Alex, who wants to go out to celebrate. Alex says he’s in way too good of a mood to go home and remarks that it’s not like they have anyone waiting on them, which Brady reluctantly agrees is true.

Chloe and Xander are home at the apartment. Chloe talks about being so tired from work. Xander encourages her and they hope that Gwen’s exclusive with Dimitri will drive their numbers. Chloe guesses Xander regrets not taking the job at Titan but Xander says no, pointing out that every day at the Spectator is another day he gets to spend with her. Chloe jokes that Xander’s charm is what is making her ignore all the reasons that pursuing a relationship with him is a horrible idea. Xander jokes that it’s a blessing and a curse. Chloe asks if he’s sure that Maggie is not upset that he turned her down. Xander responds that she’s disappointed but knows he has to follow his heart. Xander then mentions that when he went over there, he had the strangest encounter with Bonnie.

At the Kiriakis Mansion, Justin takes care of Bonnie, who is sick with a cold. Justin comments on her cold coming out of nowhere. Bonnie feels God is punishing her for lying. Justin encourages that all she did was pretend to be sick. Bonnie says she told so many lines but when Xander showed up, she panicked. Justin understands that she wasn’t expecting to see him. Bonnie complains about the secret that Sarah wants her to keep. Justin encourages that Xander is no longer there. Bonnie worries that he could come back and she could crack under the pressure and tell him that Sarah is pregnant with his kid.

Julie tells Chad that it’s more than okay for him to invite Stephanie to dinner as she likes her so much. Chad mentions that his talk with Doug yesterday really did help and he agrees that Abigail wouldn’t want him to shut himself off to the world and she would want him to live his life. Chad thanks Julie for her wisdom and everything she’s done to help out with the kids, noting he doesn’t know what he’d do without them. Julie says she and Doug feel the same as having Chad and the kids has been a wonderful comfort. Julie tells Chad that she loves them and holds his hands, noticing that Chad has removed his wedding ring. She smiles at him and Chad nods in acknowledgement. Stephanie then arrives, hoping she’s not late. Julie tells her that she’s right on time and tells them to enjoy dinner as she exits to go check on Doug.

Alex tells Brady that neither of them are having much luck with the ladies but at least things are going damn well between them. Alex says they may be family, but after all the fighting between he and Sonny, there was no guarantee this was going to work out. Brady points out that it is early. Alex notes that they just landed Yuri Kasnov so they are off to a great start. Brady jokes that they could end up wanting to kill each other in two months. Brady tells him not to take it personal but lately, being hopeful about anything hasn’t worked out for him. Maggie then enters and tells Alex that they need to talk now.

Chloe asks Xander about his strange encounter with Bonnie. Xander explains that she was nervous and jumpy. Chloe suggests maybe she has PTSD from when Xander held her prisoner in the gardening shed. Xander says he thought that too but Bonnie assured that she had forgiven him and just said that she had some terrible cold and didn’t want him to catch it.

Bonnie explains to Justin how she planned to stay away from Xander and then he showed up which terrified her. Bonnie says she was so shocked to see him that she couldn’t think straight and the more she tried not to tell him what she knew, the closer she got to blurting it out. Bonnie is relieved that she was able to tell Justin and she’s grateful that he doesn’t have a problem keeping Sarah’s secret. Justin then reveals that he actually does.

Chloe encourages Xander that maybe Bonnie was just trying to be considerate and not get him sick. Xander says that wasn’t exactly the weird part and explains how when he was leaving, he got a news alert about Nicole’s pregnant and reacted to it, then Bonnie questioned her telling him that she was pregnant. Chloe wonders why Bonnie would think Nicole would tell him that she was pregnant. Xander agrees, noting that everyone knows they are not exactly pals. Xander got the impression that Bonnie thought he was talking about something else.

Bonnie questions Justin having a problem keeping Sarah’s secret, arguing that Justin didn’t say anything about this and seemed like everything was fine. Justin responds that he had time to think. Bonnie pleads with him to stick with her on this and asks if he’s feeling bad for Xander after what he did to her. Justin says he’s still upset with him but that doesn’t mean he’s okay with keeping life changing information from him. Bonnie reminds him that she made a promise to Sarah. Justin knows that she did, but points out that he didn’t. Justin states that he is uncomfortable knowing that Sarah is pregnant with Xander’s baby and that he doesn’t know.

Steve orders pizza for he and Kayla, noting that they are celebrating having the house to themselves.

Stephanie thanks Chad for inviting her to dinner. Stephanie thinks Steve and Kayla are very glad to have some alone time. Chad is sure that they are thrilled to have her home. Stephanie points out that Steve and Kayla hardly had a chance to reconnect since getting back from Greece. Stephanie jokes that she was starting to feel like a third wheel at home. Stephanie thinks it’s time for her to look for her own place. Chad responds that he was thinking the exact same thing.

Maggie questions Alex and Brady making a deal with Yuri Kasnov. Brady confirms that they did for an exclusive digital fashion line on his app. Maggie brings up that until a few weeks ago, Yuri was ready to make a deal for exclusive Titan content on that same app but Alex blew the whole thing. Maggie then questions if Alex did this on purpose, explaining that she let him take the meeting with Yuri to get him to sign the contract but somehow he didn’t and she’s been wondering how he managed to botch a simple task. Maggie accuses him of doing it on purpose as he had Brady’s offer in his back pocket. Brady points out that he didn’t offer Alex the job until after Maggie fired him. Alex questions if Maggie really thinks he’s a snake that would hurt his own family. Maggie argues that he had to know that working for the competition in Basic Black would hurt them. Alex argues that he needed a job. Maggie complains that she offered to hire him back but he turned her down and joined the competition. Maggie questions if Alex was mad at Victor so his parting shot was to join the competition or if he didn’t like being second to her, so he intentionally screwed up that deal. Alex asks if it ever occurred to her that he wasn’t the reason that Yuri walked away, asking why he’d still want to work with him if that was the case. Alex argues that Yuri looked in to Titan and realized it was a dinosaur, noting that Maggie was telling him to be patient while Yuri wants to slay right now and he can’t slay jack with a relic like Titan. Alex tells Maggie that Titan is the past while they are the future. Alex suggests instead of asking if he tanked the deal, she should be asking how she could have ever thought that Yuri would want to make a deal with a loser like Titan to begin with. Maggie questions Alex insulting her like that and argues that Titan’s profits are up and their shareholders couldn’t be happier. Alex brings up the average age of the shareholders and says Yuri wants energy. Maggie continues to accuse Alex of tanking the deal. Alex says she can blame him all she wants, but Yuri did that all on his own and that she wasn’t the right person for him to work with. Maggie accuses Alex of sabotaging her in their meeting because up until that point, Yuri was thrilled to be signing with Titan. Alex argues that Yuri hadn’t done his homework and when he did, he realized Titan was all wrong for him and he’s sorry she can’t accept that. Maggie calls Alex an insufferable, disloyal swine who stole a company and a client from them. Brady doesn’t think that’s what Alex was doing. Alex shouts that Maggie fired him, so he had no obligation to her company. Maggie asks what he thinks Victor would think of what he did. Alex thinks he would admire the initiative. Maggie asks if he’s now admitting to tanking the deal on purpose. Alex responds that he’s admitting to seeing an opportunity and taking it which he believes Victor would never have a problem with. Maggie asks if Brady has a problem, knowing that Yuri had a deal in the works with Titan. Brady admits this is the first he’s hearing of it, but he agrees with Alex that he doesn’t think Victor would be upset with them. Maggie argues that Victor would be upset that they are both treating her so disrespectfully. Brady disagrees and thinks Victor would be the first to say that business is business. Alex adds that if they weren’t too busy firing them, they wouldn’t work for the competition.

Chloe asks Xander who Bonnie thought was pregnant. Xander says that she claimed she was also talking about Nicole and then she started coughing so the conversation was basically over, until he mentioned being involved with Chloe, then Bonnie got super interested and started asking all these questions. Xander feels Bonnie freaked out as she demanded he end things and said he was making a huge mistake. Chloe guesses this goes all the way back to high school where she had a rivalry with Bonnie’s daughter Mimi. Xander feels Bonnie’s reaction was still extreme. Chloe guesses Bonnie thought that she was protecting him but insists it has everything to do with Mimi. Xander is unsure and thinks it has more to do with Sarah.

Justin tells Bonnie about how he was in the same position as Xander when Anjelica was pregnant with Alex and kept it from him. Bonnie is sorry that she did that, but argues that Sarah has legit reasons for not wanting Xander to know. Justin argues that secrets have a way of coming out, especially one about babies and Sarah should be sensitive to that. Bonnie states that at the end of the day, it’s not her secret to tell. Bonnie adds that she only knows because she ran in to Sarah in Chicago and she made her swear not to tell. Bonnie asks if Justin is going to tell Xander. Justin knows she gave Sarah her word, but he didn’t. Justin then declares that Bonnie is his wife and he loves her, so he will not tell Xander. Justin adds that he does not feel good about it.

Steve and Kayla eat pizza together. Kayla brings up the last time they had pizza from Bruno’s and ended up at the hospital where she almost died the first time. Steve calls that day a nightmare, going from helpless and hopeless to relieved and elated to completely destroyed. They call those the worst days of their lives. Steve thanks God every day that Kayla came back to him as he can’t believe how lucky he is. Kayla thinks it’s more than luck since he worked so hard to find her. Steve jokes about being reunited in the wine cellar of Victor’s childhood home, by Bo of all people. Steve talks about how he and John started by trying to find Megan on the Greek island with no idea that Kayla was still alive, but a few days later, she was in his arms. Kayla thinks it shows the power of their love that somehow they always find their way back to each other.

Stephanie asks Chad about thinking of moving out too as she thought he liked living here. Chad says he does and he’s beyond grateful for Doug and Julie as there’s no way he could’ve gone back to the DiMera Mansion with all the memories. Chad acknowledges that here they have love and support and that having a live-in babysitter has been very helpful. Stephanie is sure Doug and Julie loved having the kids here. Chad is sure they can be a handful and it’s weighing on them even though they’d never say anything. Chad thinks it’s time he finds a place for a fresh start with he and the kids. Stephanie thinks that makes total sense. Chad then suggests they could find a place together. Stephanie asks if he just asked her to move in with him. Chad feels it’s not such a crazy idea since they both want to find a new place and they spend most nights together anyway. Stephanie brings up that they’d be working together and also living together. Chad states that he wants to go to bed with her every night and wake up next to her. Stephanie admits that sounds wonderful, but asks what about the kids. Chad says they are crazy about her. Stephanie says that feeling is mutual but this is a very big step, so she worries that the kids would think she’s trying to replace their mother. Chad offers to talk to the kids’ therapist and if she thinks they are ready then he will find a way to talk to the kids about it. Chad insists that the kids would be psyched and decides that if the therapist says yes and the kids are happy about it, then maybe Stephanie would be too. Stephanie then tells Chad that she would love to move in with him as they kiss.

Steve and Kayla continue eating their pizza. Steve encourages her to try a slice of his jalapeno and garlic pizza, joking that he’s been binge watching Top Chef on Peacock. Kayla declines but offers him a slice of her mushroom pizza which Steve says he can’t do. They then agree to try a slice of each others’ pizza.

Bonnie tells Justin that she’s so sorry as she never meant to put him in such a tough position. Bonnie admits that she feels bad for keeping it from Xander too. Justin hopes that it just doesn’t get too complicated when it all comes out. Bonnie reveals that it might because Xander has a new girlfriend in Chloe Lane. Justin questions when that happened. Bonnie says it was just recently but it’s apparently getting pretty serious.

Chloe questions Xander saying that Bonnie is upset that he’s dating her because of Sarah. Xander mentions that Bonnie said it would hurt Sarah’s feelings. Chloe wonders why since they are divorced. Xander says he reminded Bonnie of that and that Sarah has no interest in what he’s doing because she’s too busy with Rex. Xander adds that Bonnie ran in to Sarah while visiting Mimi in Chicago last week. Chloe feels that explains why Sarah is fresh in Bonnie’s brain then and is just pretending to be concerned about Sarah’s feelings. Chloe believes that in a day or two, Bonnie will be freaking out about something else.

Alex tells Maggie that if Victor has a problem with him working at Basic Black and seizing every opportunity that he can, then he can tell him, himself. Maggie responds that she will relay the message. Maggie reminds them that they said all is fair in business, family be damned. Maggie warns them that Victor has a reputation of being ruthless with the competition and that she can slay with the best of them. Maggie then storms out of their office.

Chloe tells Xander not to let Bonnie get to him, joking that she’s known her since she was a teenager and she’s always been a little off. Xander says he’s gotten to know Bonnie a little bit over the last few years and this was off even for her standards. Xander decides that he will follow Chloe’s advice and ignore her since he’s rather content right now. Chloe agrees and they kiss until Xander’s stomach growls. Xander admits he’s rather hungry. Chloe points out they have no food since they’ve been neglecting grocery shopping since they’ve been working. Xander decides they will go out and kisses her.

Justin is shocked to learn that Xander and Chloe are dating, commenting that he never would’ve thought that. Bonnie adds that they are not just dating but living together as things are moving fast. Bonnie wonders whether Xander would be slamming on the brakes if he knew that Sarah was pregnant with his kid. Justin points out that they’ve agreed not to tell him, so there’s no point in speculating but Bonnie says she can’t help it. Justin asks if she’s saying she thinks they should tell Xander. Bonnie says no because she made a promise to Sarah and she has to keep it. Bonnie then starts sneezing, so Justin decides that he’s going to the Brady Pub to get her some chicken soup.

Kayla and Steve tell each other that their pizza is interesting. Kayla then questions how Steve eats that when her mouth is on fire. Steve calls it an acquired taste and feels the same about mushroom, so he guesses they will just always order two types of pizza. Kayla compares it to marriage where sometimes you agree and sometimes you compromise. Steve says the trick is knowing when to do which. They agree that they have it down.

Alex complains to Brady about Maggie showing up and acting like he’s some sort of traitor. Brady points out that Alex is a liar since he wasn’t straight with him. Alex argues that he did tell Brady that Maggie fired him after he botched a deal. Brady argues that Alex didn’t tell him that it was a deal with Yuri Kasnov even after suggesting they go after his business which is a lie of omission. Alex didn’t think it mattered. Brady states that if this is going to work, he can’t withhold any information from him and has to tell him everything. Brady questions why he didn’t just tell him that he had met with Yuri while he was with Titan. Alex admits he worried that if Brady knew the history, he might not want to go along with it. Alex adds that if Brady thinks this is a bad idea, he’ll call Yuri right now to tell him they are backing out.

Steve brings up Paulina and how Stephanie said she couldn’t bring herself to go to the Juneteenth celebration without Abe. Steve mentions that Paulina was over last night to see what she and John had on the search for Abe but they had nothing to give her. Kayla encourages that they will bring Abe home. Steve says being without Abe today must be torture for Paulina. Kayla relates to knowing how hard it is to be without the person you love, especially on your anniversary. Steve talks about thinking he had lost her and being sure he’d never see her again, but here they are. Steve repeats that he can’t believe how lucky he is. Kayla declares that she will never take him, their family, or their future for granted. Kayla tells Steve how much she loves him and Steve says he loves her too as they kiss.

Brady tells Alex to put his phone down as he does not want him to call off the deal. Alex asks what about Maggie. Brady states that he loves Maggie and cares about her, but this is business and she wouldn’t want him to back out of a deal. Brady admits that they worked their asses off for this deal. Alex is glad as that’s what he wanted to hear and suggests they go out for nachos. Brady says he wouldn’t go celebrating just yet. Alex feels they won but Brady says it’s only the first round of what could be a long fight since Maggie is pissed. Alex asks what he thinks Maggie is going to do. Brady responds that she’s not going to take his lying down.

Chad asks Stephanie if she’s ready for dessert. She asks what’s on the menu and they kiss until Maggie walks in. Maggie apologizes for interrupting. Stephanie invites her to join them for dessert but Maggie says she can’t stay. Maggie says she just came to ask a question and asks Chad if he would like to come work for her at Titan.

Xander and Chloe go to the Brady Pub to eat together. Justin enters so Xander greets him and asks if he’s here for dinner. Justin says he’s just here for takeout. Chloe invites him to join them but Justin says he’s in a hurry. Xander argues that he hasn’t seen him for ages, so he suggests Justin pull up a chair and tell them everything that’s been going on with him.

Bonnie remains sick at home. She picks up her phone and calls Sarah but it goes to voicemail. Bonnie leaves a message, saying they need to talk because she doesn’t know if she can keep her secret.

Gabi and Stefan have coffee together in the town square. Gabi talks about their upcoming wedding but Stefan is distracted and says he can’t stop thinking about EJ. Stefan calls it strange how EJ just disappeared. Stefan adds that EJ is often involved in something sketchy and they should probably be planning their counter attack. Stefan brings up Megan still considering their proposal to team up. Gabi questions believing her and argues that it’s ridiculously obvious that she has her own agenda.

In the living room of the DiMera Mansion, Megan calls Li and asks if he’s touched base with Dr. Rolf. Megan tells him to hurry up because they can’t hire a cruise ship to brainwash Harris Michaels. Megan adds that she hasn’t decided when or how, just that Stefan’s extinction needs to take place at exactly the right time. Megan tells Li to stop worrying because Kristen and EJ are locked away nice and tight in the secret room so there’s no way they can be sabotaged. Megan is then surprised when the door to the tunnels opens up.

Dimitri and Gwen have sex in her bed.

Paulina helps Olivia to the bedroom to lay down and then rejoins Julie, Chanel, Eli, and Theo in the main room. Julie comments on Olivia coming all this way while Paulina says it sure surprised her as she had no idea that she was coming. Paulina adds that maybe it’s good that she’s resting because she doesn’t want to fall to pieces in front of her. Eli assures that they are all here for her. Julie adds that they are all praying for Abe. Paulina worries about the longer Abe is missing and wonders where in God’s name he could be.

Whitley questions why Abe would say she’s not his wife and claims that of course she is. Whitley asks how he’s feeling and if he wants to rest. Abe responds that he’s perfectly fine except for the fact that she’s been lying through her teeth. Whitley asks why he would say such a thing. Abe reveals that he just had a memory of his wedding and his bride definitely was not her.

Megan tells Li that she has to go and quickly hangs up. Leo Stark then emerges from the tunnels. Megan questions who the hell he is. Leo introduces himself and guesses that she is Megan Hathaway. Megan states that she’s also known as Megan DiMera and questions what Leo was doing in her tunnels. Leo informs her that he knew Harold wouldn’t let him in the front door, so he came in the back way. Megan remarks that she hopes he didn’t help himself to the wine cellar down there. Leo assures that he came straight up to see her. Megan questions why. Leo responds that Gwen is his best friend and he knows that she and Dimitri are trying to use her in a scheme, but they are not going to get away with it if he has anything to say about it.

Gwen asks Dimitri how exactly this happened. Dimitri recalls her kissing him and says he just couldn’t help himself as he had to have her. Dimitri hopes he didn’t take it too far. Gwen assures that she would’ve let him know if he had, but obviously the feelings were requited. Gwen then states that this can’t happen again.

Paulina thanks Julie for stopping by and bringing Eli. Julie tells her that she and Doug are standing by for her for anything she needs. Paulina says she appreciates that and she’ll sleep a little better knowing that Eli is on the case. Eli says he doesn’t intend on letting Lani down. Paulina thanks him for taking care of Lani, knowing how hard the year has been on them. Eli says it’s tough for he and the kids to be separated from Lani. Paulina hates that this situation pulled Eli away from the kids. Eli jokes that he could use the break. Eli adds that he doesn’t intend on being here too long because they are going to find Abe, no matter what it takes, as he hugs Paulina.

Whitley questions Abe who he married then if not her. Abe responds that it was the woman from his dream. Whitley mocks his dreams and says he’s clearly mixing things up. Abe argues that it wasn’t a dream, but a memory. Whitley says it’s all the same to her. Abe insists that this was vivid and recalls the suit he was wearing but it wasn’t her. Whitley insists that it was, so Abe tells her to prove it by showing him a picture of their wedding. Whitley reminds him that Chanel showed him at the hospital. Abe says he had just woken up and everything was fuzzy, so that image was pretty hazy. Abe wants to see it again but Whitley says she doesn’t have it. Abe questions not having a photo album of the wedding. Whitley responds that they don’t because it was destroyed in a fire. Abe questions there not being a single photo left from their wedding which she confirms. Abe argues that something is not right here.

Paulina sits with Theo and asks about the Juneteenth celebration. Theo responds that everyone was asking about Abe because they are all worried about him. Paulina understands that Abe touched a lot of lives. Paulina says she’s so proud that Theo was there to represent the family. Paulina wishes she could’ve been there too but says she was in no shape to go. Chanel asks Theo about the speech which surprised her because she knows how much he hates public speaking. Theo says that Chad convinced him to do it, but he just hopes he didn’t embarrass himself too much. Paulina assures that Abe’s heart would be full to hear that he filled in for him. Theo presents Paulina with a handmade blanket that an older woman gave to him afterwards and said she wanted to give it to Paulina as a anniversary gift, noting that it stood for never giving up hope.

Julie and Eli walk through the town square. Eli talks about how Paulina can barely hold it together. Eli wishes there was more they could do to help her. Julie says it breaks her heart to see Paulina like this. They then come across Stefan and Gabi’s table where Stefan jokes that he thinks she means his heart.

Megan claims not to know what evil scheme that Leo is talking about. Leo argues that they both know she and Dimitri are using Gwen to help Dimitri’s image and that he’s using some sort of magic to manipulate Gwen in to writing glowing pieces on him in the Spectator. Megan admits that she was delighted with Gwen’s write-up on Dimitri as people seemed to have gotten the wrong idea about him and think that he’s a monster, which Leo says he is. Megan suspects that Gwen would not agree. Leo complains that Dimitri has cast a spell on Gwen. Megan assures there is no spell and that he’s just naturally charismatic and charming. Leo complains about Dimitri luring Gwen in to his web of deceit. Megan tells Leo that he has it all wrong because Dimitri actually enjoyed speaking with Gwen and hopes to spend more time with her in the future. Megan claims there is no hidden agenda.

Dimitri asks Gwen why this can’t happen again. Gwen reminds him that they talked about follow up interviews. Dimitri talks about never being bothered by ethical boundaries and thinks he has an easy solution if it’s a problem for her. Dimitri suggests they end their professional relationship immediately and pursue a personal one instead. Gwen questions if he means a romantic relationship which he confirms. Dimitri says he’s never fallen so deeply, fast, and hard for someone before. He calls it hard to describe but there was an immediate and intense spark that he felt. Gwen assures that she felt it too. Gwen talks about relating to his upbringing. Dimitri says there is something special between them, so he’s terrified of letting it slip away. Dimitri then asks Gwen to marry him.

Megan hopes she has addressed Leo’s concerns. Leo complains that all she did was brag about Dimitri and says she did nothing to reassure him. Megan says she can’t spare another minute on this conversation and asks him to leave. Leo agrees to go, but warns her that he will be keeping an eye on her so they better not do anything to hurt Gwen. Megan suggests Leo leave through the front door. Leo agrees to do so and remarks that Megan reminds him of his mother, who is a bitch just like her. Megan mocks him. Leo says she doesn’t have him fooled as he knows she and Dimitri are up to something, so he’s going to find out what it is. Leo then exits the mansion.

Gabi tells Eli that she didn’t know he was back in Salem. Eli explains that he was here to help look for Abe. Gabi asks if there’s any sign of him. Julie didn’t know she cared. Gabi responds that she’s not completely heartless. Stefan says he’s glad they ran in to Julie and that he’s glad to see his old heart is still going strong. Julie notes that’s no thanks to Gabi. Stefan doesn’t understand, thinking that Gabi generously donated his heart to Julie. Julie says he can’t be serious. Eli guesses Gabi never filled him in on how she used his heart as leverage to get back at Lani for shooting him. Stefan asks how so. Gabi says she can explain. Julie explains that Gabi made Lani get down on her knees and beg for it and then she made Lani swear to break Eli’s heart on his wedding day. Julie adds that Gabi reconstructed her pacemaker so that she could control it from her cell phone and could murder her by blowing up her heart. Stefan states that he had no idea Gabi had gone to such extremes. Julie guesses even Stefan must be disgusted by her but Stefan reveals that he couldn’t be more proud.

Theo tells Paulina and Chanel that he has to make a pit stop before heading to the Salem Inn. Paulina insists that he could stay with them but Theo assures that he’ll be fine. Theo notes that he’ll be spending most of his time looking for Abe anyway but he’ll be sure to check in with them as often as he can. Paulina hugs Theo and says she’s so glad he’s here as she thanks him for coming. Theo says a year ago today, they became family which means they have to look out for each other as it’s what Abe would want.

Whitley apologizes to Abe but claims the fire incinerated their entire wedding photo album. Abe asks if Chanel can’t send the picture from her phone and offers to call her. Whitley then decides she can find the photo on her computer. Abe thinks it will be faster to just call Chanel but Whitley claims that she found one. Abe asks to see it but Whitley says she doesn’t like the angle. Abe demands to see the picture so she shows him her computer which shocks Abe. Abe says he doesn’t understand as he sees the photo with Whitley photoshopped in Paulina’s place. Abe guesses his mind must be playing tricks on him. Abe adds that the only reason he was convinced he was right was that he noticed Whitley doesn’t wear her wedding ring. Whitley claims she leaves it at home so she doesn’t lose it at work and sometimes, she forgets to put it on. Abe asks to see it. Whitley calls it her most prized possession. Abe apologizes for doubting her and accusing her of not being his wife, especially on their anniversary. Abe asks how he can make it up to her. Whitley responds that she has an idea.

Paulina looks through her wedding album with Chanel. Paulina mentions having a piece of wedding cake in the freezer that she and Abe were supposed to share today. Chanel encourages that they will soon. They talk about Abe’s vows. Paulina cries that she loves him even more today and wishes he was here so that she could tell him that. Chanel assures that he knows as she hugs her.

Julie questions Stefan being proud of Gabi for humiliating, tormenting, and manipulating Lani for over a year in a terrifying way. Stefan argues that Lani is no saint since she did shoot him in the throat. Eli argues that Vivian was attempting to flee so Lani had no choice and adds that it was Stefan’s own damn fault for jumping his stupid ass in front of a bullet. Stefan admits the details are fuzzy as it was a chaotic night, but remarks that it wasn’t the last time Lani got in trouble for being a little trigger happy since she’s in prison now for shooting her own father. Eli warns that Stefan doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about. Julie tells Eli that they aren’t worth it and they deserve each other. Gabi says that’s why they are getting married again. Julie tells them for their honeymoon, they can both go to Hell.

Megan looks to the portrait of Stefano and says she suspects he might not like her plans for Stefan, but she’ll do her best to spare Kristen and EJ. Megan remarks that hopefully feeding them well will boost their morale and make them less cranky. Megan prepares to bring food down the tunnels when Theo arrives. Megan comments on needing to beef up security but then she recognizes Theo as Lexie’s son. Megan introduces herself as his aunt and says it’s a pleasure to finally meet him. Megan asks what brings him by. Theo responds that he’s actually looking for his uncle, EJ.

Gwen says this can’t be happening and asks if Dimitri is joking by proposing to her but Dimitri says he’s serious that he wants her to make him the luckiest man on Earth. Gwen argues that they just met and don’t even know each other. Dimitri feels he knows everything that needs to know about her. Gwen calls this crazy. Dimitri understands it might seem that way but says he’s always gone after what he wants, especially when it comes to matters of the heart, noting that life is too short. Gwen asks if Dimitri is saying that he loves her. Dimitri responds that he never believed in love at first sight, but he’s been proven wrong. Dimitri says he’s been waiting his entire life for a woman like her to come around, so he’s not about to let her slip away like Xander. Dimitri insists that unlike Xander, he will appreciate her. Dimitri promises to devote his life to making her happy and all she has to do is say yes. Gwen tells Dimitri that her heart is pounding and adrenaline is pumping but she has no words. Dimitri understands how impulsive this is, but says it feels so right. Gwen remains unsure so Dimitri kisses her. Leo comes home and questions what is going on here, arguing that Gwen just slept with a lying snake who is going to break her heart in a million pieces and he’s going to have to pick those pieces up. Leo complains that Dimitri is using her for good press. Gwen reveals that Dimitri has put off their scheduled interviews. Dimitri suggests they’d rather discuss this in private. Dimitri kisses Gwen and gets out of bed. He tells Gwen to think about what he said as he heads to the bathroom.

Megan informs Theo that EJ is out of town on business. Theo says he just hoped to see him while in town since EJ had sent him some messages about Abe and he said he’d hit him up if he came to town. Megan says she’s sorry about Abe and asks if there are any leads. Theo says not really. Megan encourages him not to give up hope, noting that she’s sure Stefano and Lexie are watching over Abe. Theo thanks her and remarks that she’s not as scary as everyone makes her out to be. Megan hopes to see him around more often.

Paulina tells Chanel that she can’t take this anymore. Chanel asks what she can do and offers to go on a walk to try to get her mind off things. Paulina complains that nothing will take her mind off Abe and that she can’t lose another husband. Chanel encourages that she is strong and brave, reminding her to stay positive because Abe is out there fighting to get back to her.

Abe asks what he has gotten himself in to as Whitley calls out to him that she’s ready. Abe then turns on wedding music as Whitley comes back in and says they are renewing their vows. Abe questions not inviting their family like Chanel and Theo. Whitley says they will send them photos. Abe points out that he’s not exactly dressed for the occasion and suggests putting on his suit from the wedding but Whitley claims the suit was lost in the fire too. Whitley takes Abe’s ring and says they will use her stuffed animal cats as an audience and asks if they shall begin.

Leo questions Gwen sleeping with Dimitri, calling it repulsive and nauseating but also kind of hot. Leo then asks her how it was. Gwen responds that it was incredible which Leo says he hates. Gwen says he’s giving her a headache and she’s already wound up and dazed which Leo questions. Leo argues that he hates Dimitri more than before and asks what he asked Gwen to think about. Gwen then reveals that Dimitri asked her to marry him.

Dimitri goes to the DiMera Mansion and greets Megan. Dimitri grabs a sandwich off the tray she had planned for EJ and Kristen, noting that he must have worked up an appetite while sweeping Gwen off her feet and in to bed. Megan calls that wonderful and says she’s so proud of him. Dimitri thanks her but calls it a weird conversation for them to be having. Megan asks if he popped the question. Dimitri confirms that he did and then they got interrupted, but he’s sure she will have an answer soon. Megan is sure she will say yes and says she can practically hear wedding bells already. Stefan and Gabi come home and ask who is getting married. Megan claims that she was just telling Dimitri that they are going to throw Stefan and Gabi an engagement party. They call that very kind of her. Megan promises it will be a party they will never forget.

Julie goes home with Eli and apologizes as she thought she put that whole ugly episode out of her mind, but when she saw Stefan and Gabi, she lost it. Julie can hardly believe Stefan’s heart is beating in her chest. Eli encourages that it’s her heart now and suggests forgetting about them because they have more important stuff to think about like finding Abe and bringing him home to Paulina.

Chanel tells Paulina that she’s going to check on Olivia. Paulina thanks her for the pep talk as she heads to the back. Paulina reads over Abe’s vows and flashes back to their wedding.

Whitley puts Abe’s ring on his finger and says now he is to say his vows. Abe responds that he’s afraid he doesn’t remember them. Whitley then continues with the traditional vows. Abe says I do as Whitley says he’s made her the happiest woman on Earth again.

Paulina continues reading over Abe’s vows and breaks down crying.

Outside the Brady Pub, Talia posts a missing persons poster of Abe until Chanel appears and questions what the hell she thinks she is doing.

Chad walks through the town square and is surprised to find Abe’s son Theo. Chad hugs him and tells him that he’s sorry about what’s going on with Abe. Chad mentions that he was just with Doug and Julie and they were asking if he had heard from Theo, so it will be comforting to them that he’s here.

Doug and Julie sit together at the dining table but Julie says she’s not hungry as she is heart sick. Julie talks about just getting past the anniversary of Abigail’s death and now the disappearance of Abe. Julie mentions that today is Abe and Paulina’s first wedding anniversary. Eli then arrives and surprises them. Julie excitedly hugs her grandson.

Paulina sits at home with a photo of her and Abe. Paulina’s mother Olivia then shows up at the door. Paulina is shocked and asks why she is there. Olivia responds that she’s here because she knows Paulina needs her.

Nurse Whitley goes home and asks Abe what he’s been up to. Abe responds that he was watching her old soap tapes when he suddenly remembered something important. She questions what he remembered. Abe asks if she has something she wants to say to him.

Julie offers Eli a plate of food. Eli says he doesn’t need to eat right now but Doug tells him not to fight it so Julie goes to get his food. Eli sits down with Doug, who says he’s just in time to cheer up Julie. Doug asks why Eli didn’t tell them that he was coming. Eli explains that he wanted it to be a surprise. Eli says he and Rafe have been in constant contact about Abe but it’s hard not being there, so he decided to see what he could do to help. Julie returns with food for Eli and asks where her great grandchildren are. Eli says they are with his mom in DC and promises next time, he will bring them with him. Julie hopes it won’t be months and months from now. Eli says it will be soon and hopes that Abe will be there then too. Julie says they are all praying for that. Julie asks if there are any leads. Eli says there’s nothing new, other than the police officially ruling out Colin Bedford as a suspect. Julie says that Abe is such a good man that doesn’t have an enemy in the world but points out that he still hadn’t recovered completely from the last assault and questions who would do this to him.

Whitley asks Abe what she would have to tell him. Abe explains that he was watching her tapes of Body and Soul where the characters were celebrating their second anniversary when it suddenly came back to him that today is he and Paulina’s wedding anniversary.

Olivia wishes she could wish Paulina a Happy Anniversary and Juneteenth, but she knows this is a tough time for her, so she’s just going to say she loves her and she’s there for her. Paulina says that means so much to her but questions why she didn’t call to tell her that she was coming. Olivia responds that she wasn’t going to let Paulina talk her out of it and she had to see with her own eyes that she was okay. Paulina admits she’s much better now that she’s here as they hug.

Talia tells Chanel that she wanted to do something to help find Abe. Chanel argues that everyone already knows he’s missing, so all of this is just performative. Talia thanks Chanel for calling the cops and saving her from Colin. Talia adds that she’s sorry for the terrible things that she said to her and explains that she had to say them because Colin was there with a gun and she was trying to save their lives, as she didn’t want Chanel to get hurt more than she had already hurt her.

Chad wishes he knew Theo was coming as he would’ve asked EJ to send the DiMera Jet. Theo explains that he already bought a ticket months ago as Abe was going to give a big Juneteenth speech and he wanted to surprise him. Chad says it’s really good to see him and he’s sure it will mean a lot to Paulina. Theo reveals that Abe’s office asked him to deliver the speech for him and for some reason, he said yes. Chad thinks that’s a great idea but Theo says it’s supposed to be done in half an hour and there’s no way he can do it. Theo adds that he tried to say someone else should do it but Lani’s not available and they didn’t want to ask Paulina. Chad asks why not him. Theo talks about hating public speaking and it being his biggest fear. Chad relates to it. Theo says he’s seen Chad give speeches in public before and he seemed totally cool. Chad says maybe if it was about business. Chad talks about having to give the eulogy at Abigail’s funeral a year ago and there was so much pressure but he had to be strong for the kids. Chad says he got through it, but he wasn’t sure that he would. Chad talks about seeing all his family and friends, knowing they were all with him and he got through it, so Theo will too today. Chad assures that he and Theo’s family will all be with him. Theo says he just doesn’t want to disappoint Abe and let him down. Chad encourages that he couldn’t and that he will make him proud. Theo agrees to do it, but says he will need Chad’s help.

Julie asks Eli how Lani is doing, assuming that he must get to see her sometimes. Eli says he does as much as they allow and she is supposed to be up for parole in six months, so she could be home by Christmas. Eli talks about Lani changing lives in prison. Julie says they are always so proud of her. Eli knows Lani won’t be able to be a cop again when she’s released which is a shame, but he knows she will be great at whatever she does. Eli states that he’s counting down the days until she’s home again.

Paulina tells Olivia about hiring Black Patch to work with the cops to find Abe, but they still haven’t found anything. Olivia wonders if Abe could have wandered off due to memory loss. Paulina argues that Abe is one of the most recognizable men in Salem, so if he was wandering around town, someone would have called in a tip. Olivia encourages Paulina to have faith that Abe will be found and that he will come back to her.

Whitley asks about Abe knowing it’s their anniversary and if he’s starting to remember. Abe explains that Chanel told him in the hospital that he and Paulina were married on Juneteenth which is today. Whitley claims that she was planning a special dinner for them. Abe asks how many years they are celebrating. Whitley says it’s just one, but she feels like she’s loved him forever. Abe asks her to tell him about their wedding, hoping it could spark some memories.

Chanel tells Talia that she knows Colin convinced her that she and Paulina were these evil people that needed to be paid back for what happened to his parents. Chanel argues that she thought that they became friends, but Talia still went along with Colin’s plan to destroy their lives. Talia knows it doesn’t make sense and talks about how she’s working through it in therapy with Marlena which has helped her understand that she was in an emotionally abusive relationship. Talia explains that Colin never hit her, but he had a power over her that she can’t explain. Talia knows it sounds crazy but Chanel says it doesn’t and relates to it with her relationship with Colin’s father. Chanel says it was consensual but something made her feel like she had to be with him. Talia says it’s only easy to see looking back. Talia says she’s not trying to make excuses but admits that Paulina and Chanel were so good to her, that she felt she had to stop Colin’s plan. Chanel points out that she didn’t though. Talia argues that she didn’t know how and that she didn’t think seducing her to break her heart would actually happen. Talia complains that she never even thought of being with a woman before, but admits that when they got close, she did feel something. Chanel questions Talia wanting her to believe she had real feelings for her. Talia says she doesn’t know but she didn’t expect to feel so connected to her and she knew she couldn’t go through with it. Chanel questions if she wasn’t just trying to get out of sleeping with her. Talia doesn’t think so and notes that she made Colin promise not to hurt her or Paulina when she left that day. Chanel guesses he wasn’t keeping that promise. Talia says when she saw Colin pointing a gun at Chanel on the roof, she knew she couldn’t let him and she lunged at him on instinct and then she was falling off the roof. Chanel acknowledges that Talia saved her life and almost lost her own in the process. Talia feels she can’t take credit for that because she knows she could’ve stopped it way earlier. Chanel points out that Talia did stop it and it could’ve been a lot worse since Colin was going to kill her and Paulina. Chanel then admits that she owes her a thank you.

Whitley questions why Abe wants the details of their wedding day. Abe asks if they are not happy memories. Whitley continues pretending to be Paulina and reminds Abe that right after they said I do, their daughter Lani confessed to murder. Abe questions why he’s just hearing about this. Whitley claims she didn’t want to overwhelm him with the details. Abe asks why this is the first time he’s hearing about their daughter Lani and why he hasn’t seen her. Whitley informs him that Lani is in prison and she didn’t want to spring all this on him at once. Abe then asks if he has any other children that he doesn’t know about. Whitley informs him that he does have a son.

Theo asks Chad to let him practice his speech to him which he agrees to. Theo then begins reading Abe’s speech about the history of Juneteenth.

Olivia continues to encourage Paulina to have faith which she says she does. Olivia knows today is supposed to be a celebration, but she recalls that Paulina’s wedding day wasn’t exactly sunshine and roses. Paulina calls it the best day of her life that turned in to one of the worst when Lani got arrested, which tells her that today isn’t just about celebration but about taking the good with the bad, looking to the future, and holding on to faith. Olivia urges her to never stop believing that Abe will come back to her.

Talia tells Chanel that there is no need to thank her as she’s just really happy that she’s okay. Chanel decides she should go as she made cakes for Paulina’s anniversary. Chanel mentions using Talia’s recipe. Talia asks if that means the Bakery is back open. Chanel says no, but she’s working on it. Talia tells her that for what it’s worth, she hopes Abe is found soon and that she knows Chanel doesn’t think it will do anything, but she’s going to continue knocking on doors and hanging up flyers. Talia says she’s not going to give up and walks away.

Julie remembers that she promised to take Thomas and Charlotte to meet Chad in the park for the Juneteenth celebration. Doug notes that he’d like to go with her but he’s still feeling a little wiped out. Julie tells Eli that Doug had the flu last week. Julie invites Eli to come with her to the park. Eli says absolutely and that maybe Paulina will be there too. Julie mentions that Abe was supposed to deliver the Juneteenth speech today, so she wonders who will take his place.

Theo continues reading his speech to Chad. Chad gets tears in his eyes and tells Theo that it was perfect and that he will hit it out of the park. Theo responds that he’s ready as he and Chad walk away together.

Chanel comes home, surprised to see Olivia. Chanel hugs her and says she’s so glad she’s there, noting that they missed her so much. Chanel knows it means a lot to Paulina that she’s there, so she hopes that she’s staying for a long time. Olivia says it will just be a few days, so Chanel jokes that they’ll have to see if they can talk her in to staying a lot longer. Paulina says they will definitely work on that. Chanel questions them not being at the Juneteenth celebration. Paulina responds that her heart is just not in it today without Abe.

Whitley tells Abe about his son Theo. Abe questions why he hasn’t seen him. Whitley explains that he lives in South Africa. Abe questions him not calling or if he knows that he’s injured. Abe stops and says he thinks he’s close to a memory. Whitley encourages him not to push himself and delay his recovery. There’s a knock at the door, so Whitley says she will get it and tells Abe not to worry and to just rest. Whitley answers the door to see Talia and asks if she can help her. Talia informs her that she’s trying to find a missing person. Whitley questions if she is just going to canvas the whole neighborhood. Talia explains that her sister is a cop and she had scribbled down this address, so she decided to start here first.

Chanel tells Paulina that she knows it would be tough for her, but encourages her to get out. Olivia agrees. Paulina says this is all she feels up to today. Julie then shows up at the door. Julie comes in, excited to see Olivia. Julie hugs her and calls it a beautiful surprise. Julie knows she’s interrupting a family gathering, but she wanted Paulina to know that they missed her at the park. Paulina says she wanted to be there. Julie says she knows, so she brought something back from the park for her. Paulina says she didn’t have to do that. Julie then opens the door and Eli arrives, surprising Paulina. Paulina is delighted and excitedly hugs Eli. Eli says since she couldn’t come, they decided to bring the party to her.

Chad joins Doug at the Horton House and tells him that the Juneteenth celebration was amazing. Chad tells him about Theo being so nervous but as soon as he got up there, his whole energy changed and he was channeling Abe. Chad says it was so nice to have something to celebrate this week. Doug mentions that Julie reminded him that it was the anniversary of Abigail’s death. Chad says he decided not to mention that to the kids, but he’s pretty sure they knew. Doug feels kids always know more than they think. Doug says the kids went through a terrible loss but they are still spirited and delighted which is a credit to Chad.

Eli tells Paulina that they love her and tells Olivia that they missed her. Paulina thanks them all for being there. Chanel asks where else they would be. Paulina admits that Olivia was right that maybe she did need her friends and family around her. Theo then arrives and asks if there’s room for one more, exciting everyone as Chanel greets him with a hug.

Talia shows Whitley the flyer for Abe missing. Whitley informs her that Rafe had come to question her about Abe’s disappearance since she was apparently one of the last people to see him. Talia asks if she noticed anything suspicious but Whitley claims that she saw nothing.

Paulina says it’s wonderful to have everyone here and she only wishes Abe was there to see everyone he loves coming together like this. Julie says maybe he can’t see them, but she believes they can make him feel them. Julie has everyone gather around the table and talks about how they miss and love Abe. Paulina adds that no matter where he is, she feels his love and sends her love.

Abe touches his wedding ring and starts to have a hazy flashback to his wedding to Paulina.

Chad and Doug play cards. Doug talks about how it was great to see Eli again and how it lifted Julie’s spirits. Chad is sure it will lift Paulina’s too. Chad hopes that whereever Abe is, he can feel the love that his family is sending his way.

Paulina jokes with Eli about sending more pictures of her grandbabies. Julie proposes a toast alongside Olivia. Julie says the day is a mixed bag as it’s Juneteenth and a very important anniversary but they are all missing Abe. Julie talks about knowing Abe longer than anybody, so she knows he would want them to go forward with the celebration and he’d be so proud and honored of the speech Theo gave in his name today. Julie adds that all of the town turned out to give their support. Chanel toasts to all of them for being here to love, support, and celebrate Paulina on her anniversary. Chanel insists that her love will bring Abe home and wishes her a happy anniversary. Julie declares that this time next year, they will all meet in this room with Abe to celebrate their second anniversary. Julie says she knows Abe is thinking of them as they are thinking of him as Paulina flashes back to her and Abe’s wedding.

Abe continues having flashbacks to his wedding. Whitley returns inside to Abe and claims that it was just a door salesperson. Whitley then remarks that Abe looks like he’s seen a ghost. Abe responds that she’s not his wife.

Days of Our Lives Update

Belle questions Shawn drinking in the morning at home. Belle takes the bottle from him and threatens to pour it out. Belle gets that Shawn is in pain over shooting his dad and putting him in a coma, but says this has to stop.

Megan emerges from the secret tunnels and finds Harris Michaels in the living room of the DiMera Mansion. Megan greets Harris and says she didn’t expect to see him there. Harris says that was intentional and questions what she was doing behind the wall.

EJ and Kristen remain tied up in the wine cellar. EJ explains how he had set up a meeting for he and Nicole with the most highly sought after specialists for high risk pregnancies which was almost impossible to get but he managed it. EJ talks about how much it meant to him to be the father of Nicole’s baby and with Nicole’s history, they were eager to find out if she could carry the baby to term but now their sadistic sister has him tied up here.

Nicole waits around at the hospital and gets a text from EJ’s phone that Megan sent, saying he’s sorry but he has to miss their appointment and to go meet the doctor without him. Kayla greets Nicole and tells her that the specialist is on her way. Kayla asks where EJ is. Nicole asks if she means the man who is supposedly excited to be the father of her child.

Eric and Sloan are at Sloan’s apartment. Sloan finishes a call and informs Eric that she tried to get Colin transferred to Bayview because of his bad mental state but Melinda won’t go for it, so Colin is still at the police department and will probably end up in prison for the rest of his life. Eric asks what he can do. Sloan says nothing except hold her as they hug and then kiss.

Dimitri shows up at Gwen’s door with roses but Leo interrupts, takes the roses and throws them in the trash. Gwen argues that Leo is being extremely rude. Leo argues that at least he’s not being a phony like Dimitri. Leo talks about Dimitri wanting him dead, but says he’s on to him. Leo calls Gwen his truest and best friend in the world, so he’s not going to sit back and watch Dimitri take advantage of her.

Megan claims to Harris that she was merely getting acquainted with her famous family home. Megan questions what exactly Harris is doing here. Harris thinks back to telling Kate of his plan to exile Megan permanently. Harris then informs Megan that he’s done watching her hurt people.

EJ complains that he has to get out of here and to the appointment. Kristen admits that she didn’t know becoming a father again meant this much to him. EJ admits that Nicole’s happiness means the most to him. EJ talks about getting her pregnant twice before and she miscarried both times which crushed her, so he doesn’t want her to go through that again. Kristen asks if EJ really loves Nicole. EJ confirms that he does, even if she doesn’t feel the same way about him.

Nicole tells Kayla about how EJ pulled strings to make this appointment happen and now he’s not even coming with no explanation. Kayla finds it really surprising since EJ seemed really excited about the pregnancy. Nicole assures that he is and wonders if she’s just overreacting to EJ disappearing.

Shawn tells Belle to give him the bottle back and argues that he’s not hurting anyone. Belle reminds him that he was wasted and ready to drive the other night, so she’s just praying he doesn’t hurt anyone else since he’s hurting himself enough with it. Shawn mocks the idea of just getting over shooting his dad. Belle wants him to deal with it in the right way which is not drinking himself in to a stupor. Belle asks Shawn to go talk to Marlena, so maybe she can help him process all his guilt. Shawn laughs off the idea of going to therapy. Belle knows it won’t be easy or immediate, but she thinks talking to someone about it will help give him some perspective instead of torturing himself. Shawn argues that he deserves to be tortured and miserable as his punishment.

Kayla tells Nicole that there is still time for EJ to get there and she’ll come find her in a bit as she heads to her office. Nicole texts EJ, asking why he can’t be there and if he can at least tell her what is so damn important. Belle arrives at the hospital and asks Nicole if everything is okay. Nicole tells her that she’s just frustrated and trying to reach EJ but it’s a long story and she just wishes he was there. Belle says she’s sorry and asks if it’s about her being pregnant, noting that she read about it in Leo’s column. Nicole confirms that it is. Belle guesses the story is accurate then and EJ is the father. Nicole says they did a paternity test so it’s definitive. Belle guesses that probably hit Eric pretty hard.

Sloan and Eric lay in bed together. Sloan guesses she must come off so needy to him. Eric says they need each other at times and reminds her that he’s here for her. Sloan wants to be here in his arms all day, but she has to be in court soon. Eric offers to go with her to help her get through it. Sloan asks if he would do that for her after everything Colin has done including putting Abe in the hospital. Sloan thinks Eric would be crazy to want to be seen out with her. Eric says love is a two way street and she’s been there for him, so he’s going to be there for her. Sloan thinks back to faking the paternity test.

Leo says he’s protecting Gwen while Dimitri argues that he’s not even being clear, questioning how he’s taking advantage of Gwen. Leo argues that he knows what Dimitri is up to in turning on the charm so that the Spectator is running such a nice profile on him. Leo complains that Dimitri just wanted all this great free publicity for himself and says he won’t stand by while he manipulates Gwen to giving him more. Leo tells Dimitri to go ahead and kill him if he must, but at least he will go down knowing that he was defending his best friend from his nefarious behavior.

Megan tells Harris that she’s insulted by his baseless accusations. Harris tells her to save it as he knows she has someone in her sights now, questioning who it is. Megan mocks him having a savior complex and questions him being Salem’s self appointed protector. Harris argues that someone has to protect the town from her and he’s proud to be the one to do it. Harris feels it’s the least he can do after all the damage he caused the people of Salem while he was under her control. Megan calls him such a disappointment. Harris responds that he’s about to become more disappointing to her. Shawn then enters the room and questions what the hell is going on here.

Dimitri tells Leo that he just came by to thank Gwen for the story and swears he has no ulterior motives. Gwen tells Leo that he can be a bit overzealous at times while Leo feels she can be a bit gullible, worrying that Dimitri is a master manipulator. Gwen tells Dimitri that she defended Leo, so now he’s trying to return the favor but she can take care of herself. Leo insists that he won’t be fooled by Dimitri. Gwen tells Leo that he has a deadline to rush him out. Leo warns Dimitri that he has his eye on him as he exits the room. Gwen apologizes for Leo’s overactive imagination. Dimitri feels he should be the one apologizing to her as now that they are alone, he can tell her the truth that Leo was absolutely right about him.

Belle apologizes to Nicole for being insensitive, blaming having a really rough morning. Nicole asks what’s going on with her. Belle tells her that it’s Shawn struggling with what happened to Bo and it’s just getting worse. Belle wanted to bring him here to see Marlena but he didn’t come and she came anyway. Belle decides she will go talk to Marlena and says she knows Nicole doesn’t need to hear her about her problems. Belle apologizes again for bringing up Eric as she knows it’s complicated. Belle then heads to Marlena’s office.

Kristen asks if EJ thinks Nicole is using him or doesn’t have feelings for him. EJ clarifies that he’s just not confident that she loves him quite the same way that he loves her. Kristen asks why that is and then realizes that she didn’t say it back. EJ questions that being her concern and calls it complicated because of her past feelings for Eric Brady. EJ adds that it might be less complicated now that Eric has clearly moved on with Sloan.

Eric and Sloan eat together at the Brady Pub. Eric encourages her to keep her strength up despite worrying about Colin. Sloan tells Eric that it really touched her that he offered to go to court with her. Eric responds that he wants to support her because he loves her. Sloan says she loves him too which is why she doesn’t want him to forget about her offer to have a baby together. Eric assures he hasn’t forgotten but asks why she’s bringing it up now. Sloan feels he does so much for her that she wants to do something for him. Eric feels she has so much on her plate right now that he doesn’t think it’s the right time for them to have a baby. Kate walks in and asks why the hell not.

Shawn tells Harris so much for being done with Megan. Shawn asks who Harris is going to take out next and if Megan is trying to get him to go after Hope again. Harris stops Shawn and says he’s obviously been drinking. Harris clarifies that he came to deal with Megan, not make a deal with her. Harris reminds Shawn that they are on the same side. Shawn questions who asked him to do that because he decides who is on his side. Megan remarks that Shawn is absolutely nothing like Bo and calls him a pathetic drunk. Shawn argues that Megan is the reason he’s like this and questions how she’s not in prison after everything she did to his parents. Megan tells him to keep his distance. Shawn asks who is pathetic now and laughs at her, asking if she’s scared of having to pay for messing with Bo’s head. Megan tells Shawn to calm down and says if he tells her where Bo is, she can go apologize to him now. Shawn calls that hilarious and says it’s a little too late as he calls her a sadistic bitch. Shawn says the minute he found out Megan was here, he knew he needed to come do something. Shawn warns Megan that she’s going to pay. Megan then pulls her gun and says that’s enough out of him, unless he wants a bullet between his eyes.

Kate apologizes for eavesdropping but not for butting in. Eric asks what she heard. Kate says she heard enough. Kate admits that Sloan might not be a favorite of hers but that’s beside the point if they are serious enough about each other to be talking about having a baby, which she knows is important to Eric. Kate questions why he would wait if there’s a serious offer there. Eric argues that it’s not something to rush in to. Kate knows he’s trying to be responsible but argues that life is messy. Kate encourages Eric to plunge in and embrace the chaos instead of letting opportunities pass by. Kate talks about how she ended up on a boat in the middle of the ocean. Eric argues that it’s not that simple. Kate says she knows about Nicole and EJ. Kate says that didn’t work out, so he can make something else work out. Kate warns that if Eric waits, he’ll just get older, so if he really wants this, he needs to make it happen now.

Kristen tells EJ that it takes some time to process hearing “I love you”. EJ acknowledges that at the time, they didn’t know Nicole was pregnant and she didn’t know who the father was. Kristen states that she wouldn’t say it back under those circumstances either. EJ points out that they’ve known he’s the father for several days now and she still hasn’t said it back. Kristen argues that Nicole doesn’t know if she can carry the baby and is in a very stressful position. Kristen tells EJ just not to expect too much too soon. EJ remarks on Kristen actually trying to be helpful and questions if she’s really offering emotional support. Kristen jokes that if anyone asks, she will deny it. EJ wonders if maybe today was the day that Nicole was going to say it. EJ states that if he wasn’t trying to warn Stefan, he would be with Nicole at the hospital to see where they stand but instead he’s here, waiting for Megan to decide their fate.

Harris reaches towards Shawn but Megan warns him to stay exactly where he is. Megan calls Shawn a pathetic little weasel. Megan declares that she’s here grieving the loss of her Bo while Shawn is just drowning himself in booze and looking for someone else to blame for the bullet that he put in Bo. Shawn responds that he knows what he did and he hates himself for it, but admits he would do it again if he knew he was saving Hope’s life because he thought Bo was going to kill her. Megan wishes he had and remarks that they’d all be better off if he did. Megan holds her gun and warns Shawn to back away and not take another step. Megan complains that she waited years to have Bo back and Shawn ruined it in an instant. Megan warns that she can ruin him in an instant. Harris points out that he’s a witness, so if Megan pulls the trigger, she’ll go straight back to prison. Megan responds that there will be no witness if she goes this far. Megan argues that Shawn broke in to her house and threatened her, so she is well within her legal rights to end his pathetic life right now. Megan remarks that she just hopes it won’t permanently stain the carpet with his blood.

Gwen questions if Dimitri really was just using her to clean up his image. Dimitri says he would never do anything like that and that he just meant that Leo was right to assume that he did come with an agenda. Gwen asks what it is then. Dimitri informs her that he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about her since the day they met and that’s why he brought her flowers. Dimitri says he felt something ever since seeing her at the DiMera Mansion and has not been able to get her out of his head and his heart since. Dimitri apologizes for putting her on the spot, asking how she could possibly have the same feelings for him. Gwen asks what if she does. Dimitri asks if she means she actually has feelings for him. Gwen says when they had lunch the other day, she couldn’t believe how much they had in common and how alike they were. Gwen thought she was being too obvious with her feelings. Gwen hopes he’s seeing clearly now as they kiss.

Harris gets in between Shawn and Megan. Harris tells Megan to think, pointing out two dead bodies are going to mess up whatever Megan has cooking and they both know that she always has something planned. Harris says he will walk Shawn out and they will all live to fight another day. Harris convinces Megan to put her gun down and he then walks Shawn out of the mansion. Megan remarks that Harris is lucky that she still needs him for her plan. Megan then wonders what she’s going to do about EJ and Kristen. Megan checks EJ’s phone and sees all the text messages from Nicole, wondering where he is.

Kristen asks EJ how long he thinks Megan is going to keep them down here. EJ tells Kristen to tell him since she’s the one that has been colluding with her. Kristen apologizes for throwing in her lot with her. EJ understands that Kristen had no idea what Megan was up to. Kristen says when Megan cooked up the plan to escape prison, she was determined to not be left behind so she went along with the plan as she thought it would be her only chance to get back with her daughter Rachel. EJ says he does understand that. Kristen admits that she didn’t mind plotting behind her siblings’ back but screams that she had no idea Megan was such a crazy person.

Kayla joins Nicole in her hospital room. Nicole complains of not hearing from EJ and remarks that he must be tied up somewhere. Kayla decides that she will stay with Nicole so she’s not alone as the doctor will be there in a few minutes. Nicole says at least they will find out one way or another what her chances are of carrying the baby to term.

Sloan tells Eric that everything Kate said makes sense. Kate gets a text and says she has to go, so if Eric needs more convincing then Sloan is on her own. Kate tells Eric to seize the day, reminding him that he gave a sermon on that once. Kate then exits the Pub. Sloan swears that she did not pay Kate to come say all of that, but asks Eric what he thinks.

Shawn returns home where Belle says she should’ve known that he would go after Megan and she never should’ve left him alone as Megan could’ve shot him. Shawn remarks that he wishes she had and that he deserves it. Belle tells him that’s not true and reminds him that she loves him. Shawn then just walks out of the room.

EJ wonders what Megan has been doing all this time. Kristen suggests maybe she found someone else to terrorize. EJ hopes that Stefan is safe. Kristen thinks they are going to be down here a long time and suggests getting used to it but EJ refuses. EJ realizes that the appointment was an hour ago, so by now Nicole has gotten the news about her pregnancy, good or bad, and he wasn’t by her side.

Eric and Sloan exit the Pub and run in to Nicole. Eric asks if everything is alright. Nicole responds that she just came from meeting the specialist, who confirmed there have been so many changes since Holly was born and with new treatments, the doctor thinks there’s a very good chance that she can carry the baby to term. Eric calls that great news and says he’s happy for her and EJ. Sloan agrees and congratulates her. Sloan then adds that they have their own great news that they just discussed and announces they are going to try to have a baby as well. Sloan jokes that they can be pregnancy twins. Sloan mentions that it’s all thanks to Kate which Nicole questions. Eric explains that Kate made him see that there’s no point in waiting around for something he really wanted.

Harris meets Kate in the park and tells how Shawn stumbled in drunk and ruined the whole plan. Harris says he had no choice because Megan was going to put a bullet in Shawn. Kate calls Megan a homicidal maniac and worries about stopping her. Harris insists that this was just a delay and he’s going back, then she will never see or hear from Megan again.

Megan locks the front door of the DiMera Mansion and says it’s now back to business, commenting on taking over the world being so labor intensive as she pulls out her phone.

Dimitri and Gwen continue kissing and begin to undress as they move on to the bed until they are interrupted by Dimitri getting a text. Dimtiri says he hates to do this but he’s been waiting on this business text as he pulls away. Dimitri gets the text from Megan, asking how it’s going with Gwen and warning him not to screw this up as he needs to close this deal. Gwen asks if it’s important. Dimitri says not as important as this and continues kissing Gwen on to the bed.

Days of Our Lives Update

Gwen comes out of the shower as Leo comments on her gushing and flattery in her interview with a murderous psycho. Leo reads part of her article and mocks Gwen writing that Dimitri does have a heart.

Dimitri enters the living room of the DiMera Mansion where Kristen is reading the interview and comments that it looks like someone turned up the charm and made significant headway in seducing Gwen. Dimitri believes he has but admits he’s surprised not to find Megan waiting here to hear all about it.

Megan goes to see Li, who questions if she thinks it’s a good idea for her to be here. Megan assures that she waited until all his roommates were gone and that they were alone because it’s vital now that they continue their conversation. Li questions why their call was cut short and if someone walked in on her. Megan confirms that she was rudely interrupted by EJ overhearing their plan to eliminate Stefan.

EJ has a nightmare about finding Stefan dead. EJ then wakes up, tied up in the wine cellar, remarking that he’s now stuck in a nightmare of his own.

Nicole goes to Stefan’s room and asks if he knows where EJ is.

EJ complains that Megan will be sorry she ever came back from the dead as he struggles with being tied up.

Li questions why Megan would tell EJ about their plan to off Stefan. Megan repeats that he overheard her on the phone as she would never choose to tell him. Li asks what exactly EJ overheard. Megan explains that EJ overheard her saying that her brother was not long for the world and assumed she was talking about him. Li asks if EJ knows it was him on the phone but Megan assures that he didn’t. Megan says she explained that EJ had the wrong brother and they were planning to do away with Stefan and that it might also work out in EJ’s best interest. Li asks if EJ went for it. Megan says it felt promising briefly but then he had a sudden attack of conscience. Megan thinks back to knocking EJ out with the vase.

Kristen tells Dimitri that she has no idea where Megan is but suggests Dimitri tell her all about it. Kristen asks if Dimitri proposed to Gwen or if he’s waiting for an actual date with her. Dimitri senses her disapproving. Kristen says she’d be a hypocrite to disapprove of him doing whatever he needs to do to achieve his goal. Dimitri asks even if that means using someone who is apparently a friend of Kristen’s. Dimitri asks if she’s sure that she is okay with him using Gwen to get what he wants.

Gwen suggests Leo stop reading her interviews. Leo says he’s just teasing her but Gwen feels he is questioning her journalistic integrity. Leo brings up Gwen using blackmail to wrestle the Spectator away from Jack. Gwen reminds Leo that was his idea. Leo says they are straying way off topic and wants an explanation as to why Gwen went so easy on Dimitri. Gwen responds that they sat down and had a rather nice chat. Leo complains about being exiled from their room so Gwen could have private time, only to come back and she wasn’t there. Leo asks where they went after the Bistro but Gwen informs him that they stayed there and ordered room service. Leo asks if they had the meal in bed. Gwen assures they sat down and ate, then when the interview was over, she went straight to the office to get the article in for the morning. Leo argues that Gwen’s article is dripping with subtext and he knows she has a thing for Dimitri. Gwen argues that she barely knows him. Leo says he knows her better than anyone. Gwen then admits that Dimitri is quite attractive and she realized they have so much in common. Leo questions if they are kindred spirits. Gwen says she wouldn’t go that far but there was definitely a connection.

Kristen tells Dimitri that she does like Gwen, but she got her the pardon so Gwen owes her, not the other way around. Dimitri admits that he enjoyed her company as she seemed to really listen to everything he had to say and even related to a number of his life experiences. Kristen says there’s no doubt that he tailored those experienced to mirror Gwen’s. Dimitri admits he may have embellished the details to tell her what she wanted to hear. Kristen comments on their potential marriage. Dimitri assures that if he convinces Gwen to marry him, it will be for richer and not for poorer. Kristen brings up Megan having big plans for his inheritance. Dimitri acknowledges that Megan has a plan for absolutely everything.

Stefan tells Nicole that he doesn’t know where EJ is. Nicole explains that last night, EJ sent a text that he had to go out of town on last minute business and she hasn’t heard from him since, so she was worried and thought Stefan might know. Stefan assures that he doesn’t and remarks that the fact that they both don’t know where he is probably means that EJ is up to something underhanded.

EJ tries to encourage himself to remain calm so that he can free himself and warn Stefan about Megan.

Megan informs Li that EJ is tied up in the secret room underneath the DiMera Mansion as it seemed like the logical place to stash him. Li questions how she even know about the room. Megan explains that she learned of it last year when she sent Bo to steal the orchid from there. Megan remarks that in hindsight, she wishes she never sent Bo to Salem then perhaps everything would have turned out differently. Li would rather talk about her current offering and worries about destroying his future if EJ tells anyone. Megan assures that EJ has been taken care of and is her problem, not his. Megan tells Li to just focus his full attention on eliminating Stefan, so that he can eventually reunite with Gabi. Li asks how they are going to eliminate Stefan. Li then questions Megan thinking that he’s the one that’s going to kill him.

Kate meets Harris in the park and asks if he gave some thought to her proposal from the other day. Harris confirms that he has and he’s in because Megan has to be dealt with before she has the chance to hurt someone else. Kate is glad that Harris came to his senses because Megan is a menace to society. Harris clarifies that he’s not going to kill Megan. Kate doesn’t understand since he said he was on board with getting rid of her. Harris responds that as a Navy SEAL, he’s learned that there is more than one way to make somebody disappear.

Megan doesn’t seem why Li would be put off by the concept of murder, reminding him that he already made an attempt on Stefan’s life when he pulled the plug in Dr. Rolf’s lab. Li explains that is why if Stefan is a victim of foul play, he would be the chief suspect. Li complains about prison. Megan assures that he won’t have to find out about it as she would not trust a job like this to an amateur assassin like him. Megan declares that they need someone with ice in their veins, who is trained to kill and willing to kill. Megan adds that she knows just who that someone is.

Harris tells Kate that he will exile Megan permanently to a place where she can never hurt another soul again. Kate asks if he’s talking about a black site. Harris says the less she knows, the better. Kate says all she knows is that she will sleep a lot better once she knows Megan has been banished. Kate reminds Harris that they have to keep this between them because Roman is a man of conscience and stopped Steve and John from killing Orpheus, so he will definitely try to stop them as well. Kate talks about separating a mother from her son being like cruel and unjust punishment, so she suggests that Harris pick up Dimitri and take him along for the ride.

Leo questions Gwen going soft on Dimitri. Gwen insists that she asked him some very hard questions. Leo doesn’t see any mention of how he kidnapped Kate or threatened to blow up Europe and Salem or how he manhandled him. Leo adds that there’s also not a single question about his psychopathic mother. Gwen thinks Leo is just a little jealous that Dimitri is interested in her and not him. Leo argues that it’s obvious to anyone that Dimitri has an ulterior motive. Gwen asks what that would be. Leo admits he doesn’t know what lies ahead for them, but swears on his life that Dimitri is not motivated to charm Gwen because he thinks she’s the bee’s knees, but because he has some sort of grand and sinful plan.

Kristen tells Dimitri that she did hear Megan amassing an army with Harris Michaels at the helm. They agree that she sounds delusional. Kristen admits that she only intends to stay on Megan’s good side so she can assist her with the resources to regain custody of her daughter. Dimitri jokes about Kristen going the legal route this time and that being new for her. Kristen comments on it not being easy since Brady has his lawyer sister Belle on his side and she is an attack dog. Kristen declares that she needs an attorney but it’s been a challenging to convince someone to represent her. Kristen then reveals that she has someone in mind; Sloan Peterson, though she is sleeping with Brady’s brother, Eric. Dimitri calls that a conflict of interest. Kristen says he’s not the only one in the family who can turn on the charm. Kristen mentions hearing that Sloan has a weakness for a certain champagne and they have some in the wine cellar. Kristen says if she can turn on the charm and present her with a bottle, she’s quite sure that Sloan will accept a retainer. Kristen then heads down the secret tunnels..

Nicole questions if Stefan is insinuating that EJ is involved in some plot that she doesn’t know about. Stefan thinks it’s possible. Nicole disagrees and says that can’t be what’s happening since she and EJ have an appointment with a specialist in about an hour to discuss if or how she can carry her baby to term. Nicole says EJ did a lot of research to find this doctor, so him suddenly missing doesn’t make any sense. Stefan asks if maybe killing his chances at DiMera is more important to EJ than having this baby with her.

Kristen finds EJ tied up in the wine cellar.

Gwen asks Leo what possible objective that Dimitri could possibly hope to achieve by charming her. Leo suggests maybe he wanted the charming article that she wrote about him and he just used her to rebuild his reputation. Gwen says she retained professionalism and that he seemed really genuine. Gwen argues that she’s not deluding herself as there was a definite attraction that she could feel.

Kate tells Harris that Dimitri is as cold-blooded and manipulative as Megan. Kate adds that Dimitri may not have tried to kill her but he did hold her hostage, so she would like to see him cut off as well. Harris understands but worries about making two people disappear and that it would increase the risk substantially. Harris feels bringing Dimitri could compromise getting rid of Megan.

Li acknowledges that Megan had Harris brainwashed once but he thought the ISA deprogrammed him. Megan confirms they did, but that doesn’t mean they can’t reprogram him to do her bidding and that’s where Li comes in. Li is afraid that’s not his area of expertise. Megan points out that he could secure Dr. Rolf as she trusts that Li knows where he might be. Li questions her wanting to bring Dr. Rolf back to Salem which she confirms. Megan feels it’s not much to ask and rather simple. Megan explains that Dr. Rolf will program Harris to murder Stefan and then they both get what they want. Li tells Megan to consider it done.

Nicole tells Stefan that he doesn’t know EJ like she does. Stefan calls him a pompous ass. Nicole argues that EJ wouldn’t stand her up for something that is important to both of them. Stefan feels nothing is more important to EJ than screwing him over. Nicole argues that nothing is more important to him than their baby as EJ moved Heaven and Earth to make this appointment happen, so she believes he will be there by her side.

Kristen questions who did this to EJ and if it was Gabi and Stefan. EJ informs her that it was Megan, then suggests maybe Kristen already knew that. EJ accuses Kristen of being a part of this since he knew they had their heads together about something. Kristen insists that she had no idea what Megan was planning and that she just came down here for champagne. EJ is thankful that she came. Kristen asks if Megan gave him a reason why she tied him up down here. EJ reveals that Megan wanted to stop him from stopping her from killing Stefan.

Leo asks Gwen if she’s not still licking her wounds from her breakup with Xander. Gwen supposes that she is but feels having Dimitri distract her isn’t the worst way to get over it. Leo argues that Dimitri has made it clear that he wants to kill him. Gwen says if she can keeps spending time with Dimitri then she might be able to talk him out of wanting to throw Leo through a wall when he sees him and maybe she can show him that Leo’s not the incredibly annoying person that everyone else seems to think.

Harris tells Kate that he’s not ruling out possibly dealing with Dimitri, but right now they need to focus on Megan. Kate agrees that Megan is the more pressing threat. Kate asks what his time schedule is. Harris asks why put off to tomorrow, what you can get done today? Kate instructs Harris to call her when he’s done as he then walks away.

Nicole goes to the hospital, wondering where EJ is. Nicole tries calling EJ but it goes to voicemail. Nicole leaves a message, saying first she was really pissed off that he skipped town without returning her calls or texts, but now she’s just worried and she’s at the hospital for their appointment about the baby. Nicole hopes that EJ just lost his phone and is on his way.

Megan returns home to the DiMera Mansion and sees Stefan is off to the office. Stefan remarks that someone has to keep the company running as he heard EJ took another day off. Megan hopes he’s enjoying it and comments that life is fleeting and one day they will look back with regrets. Megan tells Stefan to live it up while he can and seize the day. Stefan wonders if Megan went over the proposal that he and Gabi put together for her. Megan thinks back to throwing the proposal in the fireplace and remarks that it definitely sparked some ideas and left her with burning questions, but she doesn’t want to keep him. Stefan decides they will talk later and exits. Megan remarks that’s assuming he’s still alive as she heads in to the living room and greets Dimitri. Megan mentions reading the article in the Spectator and calls it impressive as it seems Gwen is already smitten with him. Dimitri admits he’s smitten with her as well. Megan suggests he go see her to keep the momentum going. Dimitri mentions that he was just speaking to Kristen, who mentioned that Megan was putting together an army. Dimitri questions what exactly she is doing. Megan responds that whatever she does is with him in mind. Megan tells Dimitri to go sweep Gwen off her feet and move them closer to their goal. Megan then asks where Kristen is now. Dimitri says she said something about grabbing a bottle of champagne from the basement which worries her. Dimitri adds that she’s probably still there now and then exits. Megan then rushes towards the secret tunnels.

Kristen asks EJ why Megan would want to kill Stefan. EJ asks her to untie him before playing 20 questions. Kristen tries to untie him but struggles with the knots as she asks about Megan’s motivation. EJ explains that Megan said she wanted to eliminate Stefan to reshuffle the family power dynamic and that it would be a means to an end in her brain. Kristen decides that she needs to find something to cut the ropes to untie EJ. Megan then bursts in her with a gun drawn and warns Kristen not to do that.

Leo tells Gwen that he’s sorry but he cannot support the fake romance between her and Dimitri. Gwen asks what if Leo’s instincts are right and Dimitri is just playing her like a fiddle. Dimitri then shows up at the door with roses for Gwen.

Li walks through the town square and runs in to Stefan. Stefan tells Li that he wants to thank him for letting his divorce to Gabi go through so smoothly. Li knows they are soon to be married and jokes that he’ll keep an eye out for his invitation. Li remarks that he always knew Gabi would end up with the love of her life. Stefan calls that big of him and thanks him. Li says he told Gabi that her happiness means a lot to him. Li then asks when the big day is. Stefan informs him that it’s next month. Li congratulates him and shakes his hand. Stefan thanks him and walks away. Li then remarks to himself that it’s too bad Stefan won’t live long enough to say “I do”.

Megan leaves Kristen tied up in the wine cellar with EJ. EJ assumes Kristen no longer has any doubts about Megan being unhinged. Kristen swears that she had no idea what Megan was planning. Kristen admits that when Megan pitched her ideas of picking up where Stefano left off and conquering the world, she went along with it, but Megan is so much more deranged and sadistic than she thought. Kristen worries that they could be Megan’s next victims after Stefan. EJ says that seems inevitable, but at this point, Nicole might just push Megan out of the way to get to him first.

Nicole waits around at the hospital and gets a text that Megan sent from EJ’s phone, saying he’s sorry but he has to miss their appointment and to go meet the doctor without him.

Megan emerges from the secret tunnels and finds Harris Michaels in the living room of the DiMera Mansion.

Days of Our Lives Update

John and Steve go over case files, trying to find something that leads them to Abe. Steve encourages that they are going to find him and they won’t stop until they do. Paulina shows up at the door. Steve thought she was still in the hospital. Paulina explains that she was released after insisting her blood pressure would go down after getting out to help in the search for Abe. She asks if there’s any news. John informs her that they just started combing through the evidence that the police sent them. Paulina knows if they want the case done right, they need Black Patch on the job. Paulina asks what they have but then can’t believe they have nothing.

Abe rewinds Whitley’s tape of Body and Soul that got interrupted by his mayoral speech from 2008. Abe pauses it and questions how it can be true that he’s the Mayor of Salem, when “Paulina” said he ran an ice cream shop. Abe wonders what the hell is going on here.

Stefan and Gabi go to their room. Gabi complains that EJ made a huge mistake and calls him a pompous ass. Stefan says they tried, but they aren’t the only ones that EJ needs to worry about taking him down. Stefan adds that the doesn’t trust any of his siblings, but there’s something especially deranged about Megan. Stefan believes that EJ and Kristen have their limits but there’s no line that Megan won’t cross to get what she wants..

Megan returns to the DiMera Mansion and gets a call from Li, who declares that he’s in on taking Stefan down by any means necessary. Megan calls that a wise decision and remarks that with his help, she’s sure that her brother is not long for this world, which EJ overhears behind her as he comes back to the room and asks if that’s so, startling her. Li asks Megan what the next step is and how soon they will put this plan in to motion right as Wendy comes home. Megan tells Li that she has to go and hangs up. Megan tells EJ that she didn’t see him there. EJ says obviously not or else she wouldn’t have been plotting his demise.

John tells Paulina that he wouldn’t say they have nothing. Steve says they’ve checked every lead. John assures if it’s in here, they are going to find it. Paulina asks what she can do to help. Steve brings up that Rafe said the last person to see Abe was the nurse Whitley King. Paulina says she talked to her and she said she didn’t know anything. John asks if she’s sure. Paulina assures that she got everything out of Whitley that she could and goes over that Whitley said she took care of Abe in his room until he disappeared and she had no idea what happened to him after that.

Abe rewatches the recording of his mayoral speech again and complains that it just doesn’t make any sense. Abe guesses he won’t get any answers until “Paulina” comes home. Abe resumes the recording of Body and Soul where one of the characters accuses the other of holding a man against his will.

Gabi hugs Stefan and says she thinks he’s perfect as is, but sometimes wishes he was born in to a normal family. Stefan wishes the same, but says nice and normal doesn’t get mansions all around the world, servants, and billions of dollars in assets. Gabi admits she appreciates that but says it’s too bad a constant war with siblings comes as part of the package. Stefan doesn’t want it and says to hell with all the power struggles, backstabbing, and DiMera insanity. Stefan declares that he’s done worrying about what his brothers and sisters are planning, at least for tonight. Stefan suggests passing the time by focusing on Gabi as they kiss.

Wendy tells Li that she didn’t expect him to be back so soon as she hugs him and asks about his visit with their father. Li says it was fine and he sends his love. Wendy guesses that her dad hopes she picks Johnny over Tripp and starts producing grandchildren. Wendy says that’s enough about their dad and asks Li about the plan that he was talking about on the phone. Wendy questions what Li is up to.

Megan tells EJ that it’s ridiculous to think she was plotting his demise and says it’s not what he thinks. EJ argues that it is and threatens to call the police to tell them that she’s violating the terms of her release and should be back behind bars where she belongs. Megan questions what he means. EJ warns that she has greatly underestimated him and he won’t be an easy target. EJ declares that Megan is finished here and orders her to pack up her bags because he wants her out of the house immediately. Megan argues that he can’t kick her out of the house because she has as much right to be there as any of Stefano’s children. EJ says he just did and she has no rights at all as far as the house goes. Megan insists because of Stefano but EJ explains that the deed went to Stefan and ended up with Gabi until he convinced the bank to transfer the mortgage over to him which means he decides who lives in the house. Megan cries that it can’t be true. EJ says it is true and it’s happening. EJ suggests Megan go stay with whoever she was conspiring with on the phone.

Wendy continues asking Li about his plan. Li says it’s none of her concern and them living together doesn’t give her an all access plan to his personal life. Wendy is curious since it’s his personal life and not business. Li tells her to let it go but Wendy refuses and says she’s going to find out either way. Wendy warns Li that she will keep hounding him and making his life miserable until he tells her. Li then agrees to tell her, so Wendy asks what the big plan is. Li claims that he’s hired a matchmaker.

Gabi and Stefan kiss in bed and begin to undress.

John finishes a call with Roman, thanking him for the update and says to keep them posted. Paulina asks what he said. John says that Roman is retracing the officer’s steps in case they missed something but he’s working on it. Paulina admits she feels better, knowing that all of Abe’s best friends are working on the case. Steve encourages that they will keep going until they find a break. Paulina complains that she feels helpless which she is not used to. John relates to worrying about someone you love. Paulina knows that if anyone knows what she’s dealing with, it’s John, Steve, and Roman as they thought their wives were lost forever. Steve points out that they weren’t and Abe’s not either, assuring that Abe is coming home to her.

Abe wonders when Whitley is coming back as he needs answers. Abe continues watching Body and Soul until Whitley comes home and asks if he missed her. She remarks that she knew he would get in to Body and Soul. Abe stops her and says they need to talk. She notes that he sounds serious and asks what this is about. Abe questions why the hell she didn’t tell him that he was Mayor of Salem and asks what the hell else she is lying to him about.

Paulina knows she’s not the first person dealing with a missing loved one, but complains about not knowing where Abe is. John guarantees that Abe knows they are all searching for him and that they won’t give up. Steve adds that Abe is a very recognizable figure in town. Paulina questions where else Abe could be.

Whitley asks if Abe got his memory back. Abe says no and explains that he was watching her soap opera when they cut in with a press conference of him as mayor. Abe questions what the hell is going on since she told him that he ran an ice cream shop. Whitley reminds him that these tapes are 15 years old. She admits he was mayor but it was short lived and claimed afterwards, he soured on politics and opened his ice cream shop. Abe questions why he was only mayor for a short time and what happened. Abe demands an answer. She tells him that his political rival had him impeached for no good reason. Abe asks who his rival is. She responds that it was a horrible man named EJ DiMera.

Megan tells EJ that he doesn’t have to do this as he has it all wrong and she wasn’t planning to hurt him. EJ declares he’s done with this conversation and threatens to have Harold pack her bags or just have them thrown in the street. Megan shouts that she is not leaving the house. EJ threatens to have security remove her by force then but Megan warns that he doesn’t want to do that.

Wendy questions Li hiring a matchmaker. Li asks what she thinks he should do. Wendy suggests dating apps. Li doesn’t like the idea of finding love through swiping. Li says the matchmaker will understand him and what he’s looking for. Wendy guesses their father talked him in to this. Li says he makes his own decisions and asks why wait considering his divorce papers came in the mail today. Li declares that his marriage to Gabi is officially dead, thanks to the man who killed it.

Stefan and Gabi lay in bed together after having sex. Gabi can’t believe they are here again, together out in the open and very happy. Stefan assures that soon they will be husband and wife again. Stefan asks her what’s wrong. Gabi guesses she’s afraid to let herself be this happy again since last time they were married, he was taken from her. Stefan encourages her not to think about that as it’s all in the past. Gabi questions how to just let it go and not remember thinking that he’d been killed, she lost him forever, and her own life was over. Stefan is sorry she’s hurting like that and wishes he could go back and change it. Stefan points out that they made it and they are here together. Gabi asks how he knows something awful isn’t waiting for them around the corner. Stefan insists that it’s not and they were given a second chance, so they would be fools not to take it. Stefan promises that history will not repeat itself as nothing and no one will take him away from her again as they kiss.

Megan demands that EJ listen to her. EJ asks for one good reason not to have her lying, murderous ass thrown out. Megan tells EJ that it’s not him that she’s planning to kill, it’s Stefan.

Stefan and Gabi lay in bed after having sex again. Stefan asks if she’s ready for round three, talking about making up for lost time. Gabi suggests they head to the shower. Stefan tells her to get it ready while he will go to the kitchen to get a romantic dinner set up. Gabi says she can get used to that.

Wendy tells Li that she’s sorry. Li says it’s like he wasn’t expecting it. Wendy knows it still can’t be easy and asks if he’s okay. Li responds that he will live as you win some and lose some. Wendy says this feels like progress as he’s accepting his divorce and not tearing the room apart or plotting a desperate scheme to hold on to Gabi, so she’s really proud of him for finally moving on as she hugs him.

EJ questions Megan wanting to kill Stefan and asks what he’s ever done to her. Megan responds that it’s nothing personal really, but she wants to shake the table a bit. EJ asks what the hell that means. Megan responds that with Stefan out of the way, Gabi will be vulnerable, freeing up power in the family and the company. EJ questions this being about Megan wanting more of Stefano’s fortune and asks if she’s really that heartless to do that to her own flesh and blood. Megan tells him to spare her as Stefano wasn’t above eating his young. EJ remarks that if Megan thinks Stefano would want Stefan’s own sister to kill him, then she didn’t know Stefano at all. Megan questions if EJ did and thinking that Stefano’s legacy belongs to him. Megan mocks Susan which EJ warns her about. Megan tells EJ to get over himself as his self righteousness is boring her. Megan asks why he even cares what happens to Stefan. EJ responds that Stefan is his brother and a decent human being. Megan argues that they have been fighting for months so he can’t think he’s that decent. Megan states that Stefan’s untimely death could be good for both of them and help them both. Megan tells EJ that with one less DiMera in the picture, there would be a much bigger slice of the pie for them as she looks towards the portrait of Stefano.

John says that somebody has to be holding Abe captive. Paulina wonders who and why. Steve says they don’t know yet but Abe is a very powerful and influential man with an equally formidable wife who has a serious bank account. Paulina questions why she hasn’t been contacted for a ransom if it’s about money. John says they are not sure. Paulina asks what they are sure about and complains that it feels like they are guessing when her husband’s life is at stake. Paulina apologizes for snapping but says she’s just frustrated and losing her mind. Steve assures they understand. Paulina knows they are doing their best and that they love Abe too. Paulina cries about thinking worst case scenario but decides she will not go there. Steve encourages that Abe is tough and a survivor, so he will survive this too.

Abe comments on Whitley calling him a good and honest man, then questions why he was impeached. Whitley says he doesn’t usually like to talk about that but Abe says he wants to talk about it now. Whitley repeats that it was sparked by his rival EJ DiMera, who accused him of cheating and somehow proved it but it wasn’t that simple. She talks about how Abe wanted to win to serve the people of Salem. Abe questions if he cheated to win. She blames his shady campaign manager, Jennifer Horton, who put him up to it. Abe vaguely recognizes Jennifer’s name but asks who she is to him. She calls her no one that he needs to know and not a good person. Abe asks about EJ and what happened to him. Whitley responds that EJ is still the mayor of Salem and the most popular mayor they ever had, even more than Doug. Abe complains that this doesn’t feel right because every bone in his body is telling him that his life is different. Whitley asks if he’s okay. Abe says it’s just jarring to see himself on video and asks if he ever tried politics again after the impeachment. She claims he did not as it was all so painful that he wanted to stick to what he knows best. Whitley suggests maybe losing his memory is not such a bad thing because most people are bogged down by memories of the past, mistakes, and pain endured but not Abe as he has a clean slate and gets to start fresh in the present. Abe argues that memories are what they are, complaining that he doesn’t even know what kind of man he is without a memory. She decides that she needs to go start dinner and heads to the kitchen.

Wendy repeats to Li that she really is proud of him. Wendy brings up all the crazy things that he did to keep Gabi around. Li asks if they have to go down the whole painful list. Wendy says she just hated seeing him so obsessed, reminding him that he brainwashed a dude. Li responds that he loved Gabi and believes in fighting for who you love. Wendy says there is fighting and then there is lying, kidnapping, and blackmail. Wendy feels that Li morphed into a lovesick maniac that she didn’t even recognize as he lost all perspective with Gabi and Stefan. Li feels that she’s exaggerating but Wendy says he was out of control and really worried her. Wendy is relieved that he’s finally over Gabi and put all of this behind him before he did something that he can’t take back.

After showering, Stefan tells Gabi that their special dinner will be a surprise. Stefan promises she won’t be disappointed but she’ll have to wait to see it until they go downstairs.

Megan tells EJ to imagine the possibilities since Chad is no longer interested in DiMera Enterprises and Tony is semi-retired, so with Stefan out of the way, Stefano’s legacy is theirs for the taking. EJ points out that she is forgetting Kristen and guesses that it was Kristen on the phone earlier. Megan says enough questions and asks if he’s going to keep her plan to himself or not. EJ responds that he’s sorry as he may have done some despicable things in life, but he’s not going to conspire to kill his own brother. EJ declares that he’s going to warn Gabi and Stefan. Megan then grabs a vase and smashes it over EJ from behind, knocking him out and says to look at what he made her do.

Paulina decides she’s taken up enough time and should leave so Steve and John can focus on finding Abe. Steve knows how brutal waiting can be and offers to let her stay in their guest room. Paulina says that Chanel will be waiting at home. Paulina asks them to promise not to rest until they bring Abe home. Steve and John assure that they will.

Abe resumes watching Body and Soul with Whitley. Abe asks about two of the characters having amnesia. Whitley decides that’s enough for one day and turns it off, suggesting a game of checkers.

Wendy tells Li that they’ve talked enough about Gabi for one night and asks about the matchmaker, wondering when she’s going to start hooking him up with Salem’s women. Li says that he just hired her today and they still need to iron out a plan of action. Wendy asks if he knows for sure the matchmaker is solid and asks how he found them. Li claims he just searched matchmakers and the one he chose had great reviews. Wendy asks what the reviews said. Li claims the one that stood out to him, said she’s known for having quite the killer instinct.

Megan drags EJ in to the secret tunnels since she can’t carry him through the front door. Stefan and Gabi head in to the living room. Stefan says he could’ve sworn he heard a voice. Stefan then sees the broken vase and questions what the hell happened here. Stefan blames the cleaning staff. Gabi suggests they go outside for their delicious dinner, so they exit together.
