Update written by Joseph

At the Horton Cabin on Smith Island, Holly questions Tate as to what she just walked in on. Tate insists it was nothing while Holly points out that Tate and Sophia were both half naked. Tate explains that he had just woken up and that Sophia just showed up at the door and came on to him, assuring her that it was weird and lame. Holly argues that she feels if she didn’t show up when she did, they wouldn’t have been half naked for long. Tate assures her that he totally shut Sophia down and that he only wants to be with Holly. Tate asks if she believes him.

Brady questions why Jada needs to see his car. Jada says it’s to determine whether he was the driver who hit Sarah.

Chad looks at a photo of he and Abigail in the bedroom until Kristen comes in and greets him, saying she heard about everything going on. Chad guesses news travels fast. Kristen asks where the woman who claims to be Abigail is.

“Abigail” goes to the park and pulls out her phone. She sends a text that she doesn’t see them and asks where the hell they are. Dr. Mark Green then appears and tells her to relax as he’s right there as they then embrace.

Holly questions Tate wanting her to believe that Sophia showed up uninvited and took a ferry all the way there and that he just shut her down. Tate confirms that and wishes he turned her down sooner, but he was shocked and promised he was totally turned off but she wouldn’t accept that. Holly assures that she believes him and that she could tell by the look on Sophia’s face that he shut her down and she also trusts him. Tate thanks her and says he’s relieved because it must have been weird to walk in on that. Holly says it was no fun and suggests he could reassure her that she’s the only girl he wants. Tate responds that he would love to as they kiss. Holly says she’s really glad to see him. Tate asks about Sarah. Holly says she’s doing okay but she feels really horrible, asking what kind of person hits someone with a car and drives away like that. Tate says it would have to be a horrible person with no conscience. Holly hopes the police catch that horrible person soon.

Fiona watches over Victoria in her room at the Salem Inn. Fiona tells Victoria to play by herself while she takes a little break. Fiona approaches her bottle of vodka but Xander knocks on the door so Fiona hides the bottle under the bed and answers the door. Fiona asks how Sarah is. Xander says she’s holding up and Maggie is with her now, so he just wanted to check on Victoria. Fiona says he didn’t have to since she told him she’d watch her. Xander says he just needed to see his daughter. Fiona says she’s been an angel and asks how Xander is holding up. Xander responds that he’ll be better when the police arrest the driver who nearly killed his wife.

Brady questions why Jada would think his car was involved in the accident. Jada says they have evidence that it was a late era gray sedan and a partial license plate. Brady tries to argue but Jada says they need to see it now. Brady thinks back to his car disappearing from the parking garage. Brady then tells Jada that he wishes he could show her his car but it’s not here as it was stolen.

Chad tells Kristen that the woman doesn’t claim to be Abigail, she is Abigail, and that he and Jack found her. Kristen asks where she is. Chad says she went for a walk to think because this is all a lot for her. Kristen understands she can’t remember anything about her life. Chad says not until today when she remembered Clyde coming in to the room and stabbing her. Kristen asks if Chad is sure that’s a real memory

Mark asks how “Abigail” is. She responds that she’s stressed out as she just left Chad and told him that she had a memory because she had to give him something. She complains about the DiMera Mansion feeling like everyone is staring at her at all times including the portrait of Stefano. She adds that at least Jack and Jennifer went back to Boston so it’s at least two less eyes on her, but there’s so many DiMeras in the house and she knows that they are just expecting her to morph in to the Abigail of old. She talks about how Chad is doing his best, so she had to throw him a bone by telling him that she remembered the night of Abigail’s murder.

Tate and Holly still can’t believe what happened to Sarah. Holly informs Tate that Aaron’s brother Mark came to see Sarah while she was there and mentioned the camp’s Instagram page putting up a photo of Aaron but labeling it as Tate Black. Tate questions if that means Mark knows that Aaron is pretending to be him. Holly doesn’t think so and says it freaked her out but she doesn’t think that Mark is suspicious. Holly adds that Mark was super concerned about Sarah because she’s not just his colleague but his friend too. Tate brings up that Mark pretty much raised his siblings Aaron and Felicity since their parents died. Holly can’t imagine what it must be like to parent siblings and be a doctor, calling Mark a great guy.

Mark tells “Abigail” that she did the right thing. She worries that now she’s going to have to continue to remember parts of her life if they are going to have everyone believe that she is Abigail DiMera. Mark feels they have a lot of the heavy lifting out of the way. She then thanks Mark for fixing the DNA test.

Chad assures Kristen that it was a real memory since “Abigail” described it to him. Kristen argues that it’s public knowledge and only Clyde could dispute what happened and he’s in prison. Chad tells Kristen to just say what she’s insinuating. Kristen says she doesn’t have an agenda and she’s just looking out for her brother. Chad complains that she’s not helping and tells her to go back to work. Kristen argues about “Abigail” having a different face and amnesia but everyone’s so thrilled to have Abigail back that they buy it. Kristen questions how he knows she’s not a fraud.

Fiona tells Xander that they will all feel better when the driver is caught and asks if the police have any leads since he said the investigation had stalled. Xander reveals there has actually been a breakthrough as he just got an update from Jada that the police have a partial license plate, so with any luck, they will soon find the person that did this.

Jada questions Brady saying his car was stolen and when this happened. Brady says it was a few days ago. Jada asks if it was before, on, or after the 14th, the night of Sarah’s accident. Brady claims it was before as it was that morning because he had a big meeting at Basic Black and he missed it because he was late. Jada asks where his car disappeared from. Brady says it was in the parking garage downstairs. Jada says only one car they are checking was reported stolen and it wasn’t his. Brady then admits he did not report it. Jada doesn’t understand Brady not reporting his car was stolen and just going about his day. Brady knows it’s not the wisest thing to do but he’s been slammed at work and had to cover for Xander at Titan, so he’s had some long nights. Jada calls grand theft auto a serious crime and questions not reporting it. Brady knows it was silly and apologizes. Jada thinks it’s very possible that the person who stole his car is the same person that hit Sarah.

Fiona asks Xander if the police might be resolving the case. Xander says it would be such a relief and notes that while it wouldn’t do anything for Sarah’s condition, he wants the bastard caught so badly. Xander talks about how he can’t stop picturing the driver hitting Sarah and then just moving on, not caring if she was dead or alive. Fiona asks about Sarah’s condition being reversible. Xander states that it might not be. Xander points out that Sarah is a doctor, so she knows there’s a good chance she will never walk again. Fiona asks if that will make a difference to him as she wonders if it might change the way he feels about Sarah or the life they planned together. Xander says of course not and asks why she would even ask that. Xander declares that he’s the luckiest man in the world to even have Sarah in his life and he loves her more than anything, so nothing will change that. Xander adds that if anything changed, it’s that he’s not sure she’s lucky to have him since he hasn’t been the most reliable person while now they have a daughter to raise with Sarah adapting to a new way of life. Xander worries about not being the man Sarah needs him to be. Fiona knows it will be a heavy burden but encourages that he’s strong enough. Fiona adds that she’s here now to help him with anything he needs. Fiona declares after what she’s done, she really needs to help him. Xander questions what she’s talking about.

Jada tells Brady that it’s not too late to report it as he just needs to go to the police station and speak to a detective. Brady says he will but Jada urges him to do it now as part of the investigation in to Sarah’s hit and run. Brady agrees to do it and apologizes for not doing it sooner. Jada says she won’t take up more of his time as she exits.

Tate repeats to Holly that she’s the only one he wants. Holly suggests they go swimming so they go to get changed.

Chad tells Kristen that there’s no fraud as there was a DNA test with a match, so it’s Abigail. Kristen apologizes and says she’s just trying to protect him because he’s been through so much and she would hate for him to get hurt again. Chad thanks her. Kristen says she will see them later and exits the room. Chad looks back at the framed photo of he and Abigail.

“Abigail” tells Mark that it worked like a charm since as soon as the DNA results were in, Chad had no doubt that she was his dead wife. She adds that she was just grateful that Mark was in right place at the right time. Mark calls it easy if you know what you’re doing. Mark declares that the only way someone will find out she’s not Abigail DiMera is if they give her another DNA test. She remarks that they make a good team. Mark declares that they now need to talk about the next steps to their plan.

Fiona tells Xander it’s not what she’s done but what she hasn’t done in all those years not being there for him. Fiona blames that for being how Xander feels because he didn’t have her support for all those years, but he does now. Xander says he’s grateful for that. Fiona promises to make up for all those missed years as they hug.

Jada takes photos of the parking garage. Marlena arrives and asks what’s going on. Jada informs her that Brady told her that his car was stolen which shocks her. Jada questions Brady not mentioning that to her. Marlena says no and asks when that happened. Jada says she’s trying to figure that out and asks when Marlena last saw it. Marlena remembers seeing it the other night as Brady had parked in her parking spot. Jada asks when that was. Marlena says it would’ve been the night of the 14th..

Brady paces inside until Kristen shows up at the door, saying she needs to talk to him. Brady brings her in and says he doesn’t have the patience or the time. Kristen says it’s about his car as she supposes he’s wondering where it is. Brady asks how she knew it was missing. Kristen then reveals that she’s the one who took it.

Holly helps Tate back in to the cabin after he fell on the beach when they went swimming. Tate tries to say he’s fine but Holly wants to take him to the hospital. Tate argues that he’s not supposed to be in Salem and worries about someone seeing him but Holly assures that they will be stealthy, so they exit the cabin together.

“Abigail” doesn’t feel comfortable talking about this where everyone can see but agrees they need to talk about what’s next. Chad then approaches and says he was worried about her being out alone but sees that she’s not. She claims that she was asking Mark for directions because she got lost. Mark says he’s so glad her friend found her. Chad thanks him for his help as he walks away. Chad asks how she’s doing. She says she’s better now and just needed to clear her head. Chad guesses that memory must have been upsetting. She says she’s happy that she’s starting to remember. Chad thinks she will remember more. Chad suggests if they talk more about what she did remember, it might help spark something.

Xander tells Fiona that he should get back to the hospital. Xander tells Victoria that he will see her later and thanks Fiona again for watching her. Xander says he’s glad Fiona is here because she really is helping. Fiona says she’s so grateful to Xander and Sarah for welcoming her in to their lives. Xander then exits the room. Fiona then retrieves her bottle of vodka from under the bed.

Jada asks Marlena about Brady parking in her spot on the night of the 14th which she confirms. Jada asks if she or John saw Brady that night. Marlena says no and guesses he had gone to bed before they came in. Marlena adds that she asked Brady about it the next morning and he just said somebody else had parked in his space. Marlena asks why she has all these questions since it clearly happened before Brady’s car was stolen. Jada says she’s just putting together a timeline for the investigation and thanks her for her help as she exits.

Brady questions Kristen taking his car. Kristen guesses he’s too dense to figure it out but she found out that the car in Sarah’s hit and run was gray and she remembered Brady was a mess that morning when she came in, so she went to the garage and saw the damage on the front end which made her realize he must have been the one who hit Sarah, so she got rid of the evidence. Brady can’t believe it and asks why she would do that. Kristen responds that she did it for their daughter because it would kill her to see him in prison for a drunken hit and run as she assumes he was drinking that night. Brady admits he doesn’t remember the accident as he woke up in the car. Kristen says it doesn’t matter because the car is gone. Brady asks if she’s sure because Jada was just there asking questions and said they have a partial plate. Kristen asks what he told her. Brady admits he didn’t know what to tell her so he told her the car was stolen. Kristen points out that as far as he knew, it was. Brady remarks that now he knows who stole it. Kristen calls that insignificant, pointing out that without the car, Jada has nothing. Kristen advises Brady to stay calm and do what he normally does. Brady questions what someone normally does after running down a member of their own family. Kristen suggests he go to the hospital and offer his kindness while acting like nothing is wrong. Brady complains that he can’t act like nothing wrong because Sarah’s paralyzed and it’s his fault. Kristen points out that Sarah’s alive and where there’s life, there’s hope which Brady mocks. Kristen says she’s just trying to get him to drop his guilt and self pity as what’s done is done. Kristen adds that she doesn’t know what Theresa did to have Brady fall off the wagon, but it’s not worth throwing his life away. Kristen tells Brady that their daughter needs him so he needs to get sober and get his life together. Kristen tells Brady that she’s there for him and will help him. Brady thanks her. Kristen repeats that she’s doing this for their daughter.

Holly gets Tate set up in a hospital room and says that Kayla’s in surgery while Sarah is a patient so they won’t have to worry about them seeing him. Mark then walks in and questions if it was a lacrosse accident but the camp is supposed to be in upstate New York. Tate calls it a long story. Mark says he has time. Tate and Holly then explain that Aaron took Tate’s spot in camp so that he and Holly could spend the summer together, adding that Brady doesn’t know Tate is back in town yet. They argue that Aaron is getting a free camp out of it and loves it there so it’s basically a win-win for everyone. Tate know it’s a lot but asks Mark not to tell anyone that he was here. Mark questions him wanting him to lie.

“Abigail” questions Chad wanting to know what color robe she was wearing when she got stabbed. Chad thinks it could help spark some more memories. She questions where this is coming from and if he doesn’t believe the memory she had was real. Chad says he believes it was real but admits that Kristen put this idea in his head that a lot of people could’ve known what happened that night since it was all over the news. She then questions him not thinking she’s really Abigail and that she’s been lying to him. Chad says it’s not that. She then complains that he came looking for her and that she trusted him enough to come back with him and take a DNA test. Chad apologizes. She claims she’s doing the best she can to be the wife he remembers but if that’s not good enough for him, they can call off the whole thing and she can head back to Poplar Bluff now.

Mark tells Tate that it’s just a bad sprain so he’ll get him some crutches and he’ll be healed in a couple days. Tate thanks him but points out that he never answered if he’s going to tell anyone that he skipped lacrosse camp and came back to Salem. Mark responds that he came here for medical help so as his doctor, he’s not allowed to discuss anything without his consent, including where he got treated. Mark remarks that he won’t have to worry because he’s more than capable of keeping a secret…

Chad doesn’t want “Abigail” to go back to Poplar Bluff and insists that he believes she is Abigail, but he thinks the stress of the last few days is starting to get to him, so he listened to Kristen. Chad repeats that he really doesn’t want her to leave and says it doesn’t matter what she looks like or what she remembers as he’s really happy she’s here with him. Chad asks her to just come home with him which she agrees to do so they leave the park together.

Marlena calls John from the parking garage and leaves a message, saying she hoped to talk to him about something but it will have to wait until she sees him. After hanging up, Marlena sees Kristen leaving, who says she just came to see Brady and heard his car was stolen. Marlena says she just found out as well. Kristen remarks that she guesses Salem isn’t as safe as it used to be and that she hopes they catch who did it. Kristen tells Marlena that she will see her later and walks on.

Fiona sits staring at her bottle of vodka and declares she’s done with that now as she then drops the bottle into the trash can and declares that she’s going to be the mother that Xander needs her to be.

Xander runs in to Jada in the town square. Jada says she was just on her way to find him. Xander mentions heading to the hospital as he was just checking on Victoria with Fiona. Xander asks if there is news. Jada reveals they have a suspect in Sarah’s hit and run.

Holly tells Tate that they are so lucky that Mark agreed to keep his secret. Tate agrees, especially since they both have family who work there. Holly suggests they not press their luck and get Tate back to the cabin before anyone sees them, but they then run in to Brady at the hospital.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[eerie music]

God, we are so lucky Dr. Greene agreed to keep our secret.

Yeah, I know, especially since we both have family who work here.

Right. So let’s not press our luck. We better get you back to the cabin before anyone sees us.

Right.

Tate?

Dad. Um–

What–what–what is g– what is that? What are you– are you all right?

Yeah. It’s–it’s just a sprained ankle.

Sprai–did you do that at camp? And–wait, wait, wait. Why didn’t the camp contact me to tell– tell me that they were sending you home? What is this?

Well, um–

What? And what is she doing here?

[sighs]

Hmm?

This didn’t happen at camp, Dad.

Really? Where did it happen, son?

On Smith Island.

Hi, honey. I was just wondering where you are. You couldn’t have taken this long to go and check on Victoria. Okay, well, um, I will see you when you get here. I love you. Hmm, thought that Xander would be back by now.

So what am I? Chopped liver?

[laughs]

Do I bore you? I mean, if so, I can turn on “Jeopardy!”

No.

[laughter] Of course you don’t bore me. It was just–I just–

You just miss your husband and your precious girl.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And I’m also worried about my husband. You know? He–he feels helpless seeing me this way. And since he can’t do anything for me, he’s just fixating on finding the person who hit me. He’s obsessed with it, actually.

You have a suspect? Oh, that’s great news. Who is it?

I’m sorry, but I’m not at liberty to tell you.

Not at liberty to– Jada, my wife is lying in a hospital bed as we speak. She may never walk again. We have a right to know.

And you will, if and when an arrest is made. But in the meantime, presumption of innocence–

Innocence? That monster ran Sarah down and left her to die in the street.

I am sorry, Xander, but I am not going to discuss this with you any further.

Oh–oh, yes, you will.

[suspenseful music] – What’s going on?

Well, Brady told me that his car was stolen.

[echoing] What?

[echoing] He didn’t mention that to you?

Uh, no, no. When did that happen?

Well, that’s what I’m trying to figure out now.

[mysterious music]

Excellent. I appreciate your expeditious attention to this matter. Well, Father, mission accomplished. Brady’s car is now as flat as a pancake and probably stacked like one too. Oh, don’t look at me that way. What choice did I have? Yes, yes, I know that you were not a big fan of Brady’s. But he is the father of my child. And I did what I had to do to protect my family, just as you would have done.

Pray tell, sister. What did you do, you know, to protect your family?

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

[soft tense music]

Well? If you’d like, I can ask father’s portrait.

Fine, fine.

But I feel–

If you must know…

Mm.

Unfortunately, I had to fire Ava from our little family business.

Oh. Well, I don’t understand. Where is the unfortunate part?

Ava is my good friend.

Then why did you fire her?

It was political. Gabi learned that Ava slept with Stefan while she was in Statesville. And… Gabi gave me an ultimatum. Either I relieve Ava of her duties or she was gonna find a new buyer for Gabi Chic. And I couldn’t let her do that. See, we put a lot into that launch. And plus, it is the centerpiece of my new corporate strategy.

Hmm. Well, if it were up to me, I would have sacked both those vipers.

Yeah, well, it’s not up to you, now is it?

Not at the moment.

[scoffs]

[chuckles]

[sighs] Look. I know that Father detested Gabi, as do I. But my family legacy means everything to me, and I’m gonna to do whatever it takes to protect it.

Mm.

Hmm?

No, I don’t think so.

You don’t think so? What?

What I mean is that I’m getting a keen sense that you’re selling me a bill of goods. So why don’t you tell me, Kristen, what’s really going on?

Hey, there you are.

Here I are.

[laughs] How was your visit with your dad?

It was great. Well, he beat the pants off me in Parcheesi, but I took him in rummy.

[laughs] There you go.

So I got your message, said you wanted to talk to me about something. Everything okay?

No, not really.

[sighs]

Smith Island? What were you doing there?

Look, Dad, the truth is, I didn’t– I never actually went to camp.

I’m sorry? What?

Yeah, I was staying up at the Horton cabin.

You’re telling me that this whole time I thought you were in lacrosse camp in New York, you were actually at the Horton cabin? Why in God’s name would you do something like that?

Come on, you know exactly why I would do that– so I could spend time with Holly without anyone flipping out on us for being together.

You’ve been lying to me all summer about this?

No, he–

Yes. Yeah, I have been.

I’ve been thinking lately about the car accident when I was with my parents and I was the only survivor.

[somber music] And there was a part of me that wished I had died with them.

You never told me that, Mom.

I suppose I never wanted you to know. I wasn’t always brave Maggie, facing adversity with courage and pluck. I was grieving, and I was scared. And I was very angry. It’s okay. It’s okay for you to be angry about what happened to you, Sarah.

[sniffles] I think Xander is angry enough for both of us. I’m worried. I’m worried that if– when they find the person that ran me over, what Xander is going to do to them.

Xander, I get that you are upset. And you have every reason to be. And believe me, I understand what you’re going through.

You underst–you have no idea what I’m going through.

Oh, I do. Because Rafe is lying in a hospital bed, just like Sarah. So yeah, I do know. And my heart breaks for the both of you. But I am gonna state this very clearly to you. I will be the one who will find and arrest the person who hit Sarah, not you. So unless you want to spend the night with some unsavory characters whose rap sheet, I’m sure, is longer than yours, I suggest that you take your hands off of me right now.

I am so sorry, Jada. I just, um– I don’t know what came over me. I’m just so–

Worried about Sarah? Yeah, I get it. But every time you raise hell because of your dissatisfaction with the pace of the investigation, that’s more time that I have to deal with you instead of actually doing my job. Okay, I will let you know as soon as I get something concrete.

Thank you, Detective– sorry, Commissioner. Can you at least– can you just tell us what it is we’re waiting for?

Well, first, I have to speak to the DA before I can proceed, but you’ll know something soon. And, Xander, I do know what you’re going through, when the love of your life is lying in a hospital bed and you just feel so helpless. But go. Go be with Sarah. She needs you.

[melancholic music]

Mom, will you tell me how you dealt with it, when you found out that you couldn’t walk?

Hmm. When I blinked, my eyes opened, and I was in the hospital. And I saw the doctor… and he said, um… “Sweetheart, your parents didn’t make it.” And then he said, um, “Your legs are crushed.” I wished I’d perished with them. But when I finally came to my senses, I felt like I owed it to them to keep the farm running. And it wasn’t an easy task, even without being injured. I knew I had to figure it out. I had to– I had to learn to live my new normal. But, you know, I remember–

[chuckles] Oh, I remember a graduation party. And the song “The Twist,” started playing. And I stood there on my crutches, feeling very awkward and frustrated. But I reminded myself that even if I couldn’t get out on the dance floor and show off… That I could still dance in my heart. I know that sounds very Pollyanna. But I know if I hadn’t– never had that surgery and never been able to walk on my own, I still would have had a very good and full life.

And that is my way of saying to you, don’t give up, my darling. So no matter what the car accident took from you, no matter how your recovery goes, you’re still a wonderful doctor and mother and wife. And you’re my daughter. Sure, you know, if you don’t heal the way we want you to, um, some things will be harder. But I know– I know that you’ll remember how much you truly do have to be grateful for.

[sniffles, speaks indistinctly] I am. I am grateful. I’m grateful to feel so loved, you know, by you and by Xander and my daughter. You know? And I am grateful I have such a wise mom.

[both chuckle] That means– that means everything to me. That means– it means more than anything.

I beg your pardon? “A bill of goods”?

What I’m saying is that for a polished fabulist such as yourself, that was a shockingly unconvincing story.

[laughter]

Well, EJ, I mean, if you don’t believe what I just told you, then by all means run it by Gabi. Not that it is any of your damn business.

No, you’re right. It’s none of my business. But word of advice– and this is speaking from experience here– if you would rather people not go poking around in your closet looking for skeletons, perhaps you shouldn’t be so forthcoming with Father up there, sharing your secrets aloud. Besides, I’m sure he knows all already.

[scoffs]

I don’t understand. Holly’s been here in Salem all summer.

Yeah, and she’s been–

I’ve been sneaking up to the cabin to visit Tate whenever I can.

You’ve been sneaking up to “visit” with Tate.

Dad, come on. No, it’s– we weren’t–there wasn’t–

Oh, sure. No, I’m sure. I’m sure the two of you were just playing Connect or Monopoly or something. Holly, do you mind if I have a private word with my son, please?

Sure, of course.

Dad, look, I know that you’re probably really disappointed in me, and I’m sorry. But I really care about Holly. This isn’t just some fling. And I couldn’t stand to be apart from her just because Mom was being crazy and overprotective.

Okay, son. Stop. Stop talking. I want you to listen right now.

Okay. Can you just–can you tell me? Get it out of the way. How much trouble am I in?

[soft tense music]

Oh, my God. Brady’s car is stolen right out of our garage? How’d did he take that news?

I don’t know. He didn’t tell me. Apparently, he didn’t tell you either.

When did this happen?

I’m not sure. Um, I ran into Jada downstairs. She is heading up the investigation, trying to figure out a timeline.

Timeline? Brady just didn’t tell her how it happened, when it happened?

Apparently not.

Well, why would the acting police commissioner be involved in a run-of-the-mill car theft investigation anyway? It’s got to be connected to something bigger. Don’t you think? Like maybe Sarah’s hit-and-run?

[suspenseful music]

John, you don’t think that Brady could have been involved in Sarah’s accident?

Oh, God, I pray I’m wrong here. But something’s not adding up here. I mean, come on. Why wouldn’t Brady say a word about his car being stolen?

Well, actually, he did. He told Kristen. I bumped into her earlier.

But why would he t–

[mysterious music] Unless he wanted to get rid of the evidence by disappearing his car– yeah, Kristen could do that. I mean, that sort of thing is in her wheelhouse, isn’t it?

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here, okay? But, look, when I told Brady about Sarah’s accident, he was–he was shocked. He was horrified. Come on, John. We–we know Brady. He’s a good man, and if he had– if he had hit her, he never would have left her there.

No, he wouldn’t… unless–

Unless what?

Unless he’d been drinking.

So you’re telling me, this entire summer, I have been shelling out money to your friend Aaron so he could go to lacrosse camp and be scouted by D coaches?

Come on, Dad. You know I didn’t wanna go to camp. And at least he’s getting something out of it.

Oh, and then when you came back– when you came back to see your mom, you weren’t flying in from New York, were you? You took a damn ferry across the lake.

And I’m sorry.

Sorry?

Look, when Nicole left town and Mom went to prison, I was this close to telling you the truth. But then you insisted that I go back to camp. And so–I don’t know. I-I just–I kinda got the vibe that maybe you didn’t want me to come home.

Oh, my–that is not– so not true.

Dad, I left because you told me to. And then I kinda had to keep the lie going.

Ugh, damn it, Tate. Come on.

I did this because I thought you would go ballistic on me. I mean, come on, Dad. Like, I mean, haven’t you ever lied because you were scared of how someone would react?

– Why would you take my car?

Well, isn’t it obvious? And you’re welcome, by the way.

Kristen–Kristen, answer my question.

[sighs]

Why?

Why? I mean, apparently, you’re too dense to figure it out. I found out that the car in Sarah’s hit-and-run was gray. And I remember that you were a mess that morning when I came in. And I went down to the garage. And, well, I saw the damage on the front end. And I realized that you must be the one who ran over that poor woman. So I got rid of the evidence.

I can’t believe it. I can’t. I can’t believe it. Why–why would you do that?

Why would I do that? I did it for our daughter. See, without the car, Detective Hunter has nothing. So just stick to your story and, uh, you know, stay calm.

Dad? Hi. Where–where did you just go?

I just hope that I’m half the mom to Victoria that you are to me.

Oh, Sarah. Sarah, come on. You’re a wonderful mother.

Yeah, but how– how will I be able to now?

What do you mean?

‘Cause, Mom, I– Victoria needs to be held so much right now. And when she gets upset, the only thing that soothes her is being in that baby sling. And pretty soon, she’s gonna start walking and then running. And how–how am I gonna be able to keep up with her?

Oh, Sarah, I promise you. You’re gonna find a way.

[somber music]

Hi.

Hey.

Hope I’m not interrupting.

No.

Grandma.

No, honey, it’s okay.

Nice to see you.

Two visits in one day.

[laughs] I’m very lucky.

Yeah. Um, well, actually, I came because– ’cause I have something to tell you.

Okay. What is it, sweetie?

Okay, well, you know how I said I had plans with my friend Liv tonight?

Yeah, you two we’re going to the movies.

We’re not going to the movies. That was actually a lie. I was going to see Tate.

Um, in New York?

At Smith Island.

Smith Island? Was he–

No, Tate never went to lacrosse camp. His friend Aaron took his place instead so him and I could spend the summer together. And he’s been staying at the cabin.

Oh. Oh, wait a minute. The Horton cabin– I mean, what is– did he break in?

No, I took your key, and I let him in. I’m really sorry for lying to you, Grandma.

Oh. I don’t understand. Hmm. I know I saw the key the other day.

Yeah, that’s because I put it back. Tate locked himself out, so I had to borrow it again. And I feel absolutely horrible for lying to you, to everyone.

Okay, then. That’s why I couldn’t find the key the other night.

Wait. What are you talking about? What night?

EJ, don’t you have anything better to do than stand around, cross-examining me? Like, I don’t know, uh, sorting through a file cabinet or whatever you DAs do?

Oh, I have plenty of things I could be doing. But I happened to be walking past and overhear you talking to a portrait above a fireplace, plotting, scheming, your usual. And I couldn’t help myself, so my interest is piqued.

[laughs] I wasn’t plotting and scheming.

And since you already have the CEO position at DiMera, what else does Kristen DiMera want that she doesn’t have? Let’s see, let’s see, let’s see.

[gasps dramatically] Oh, I know. Brady Black.

I hope I’m not interrupting. Your butler let me in.

Mm. Hello, Jada.

I need to speak with you, EJ, about the Sarah Kiriakis case.

Okay. Would you excuse us?

Mm. Of course.

[tense music]

– So what’s the update? Do you have any new developments?

Actually, we do. I have a suspect. And I’m looking for your advice on how to proceed.

Go on.

We’ve got a partial license plate from security camera footage. And it corresponds to a gray car registered here in Salem. And it also matches the description of the vehicle from the scene of the accident.

Mm, and the forensic evidence?

Well, see, that’s where we have a problem. We can’t compare the paint because the vehicle has vanished into thin air.

Vanished? How can a vehicle just vanish?

The suspect stated that the car was stolen, but he didn’t report it.

So he didn’t file a police report for a stolen vehicle?

Mm-mm, and he claimed that the theft occurred before the accident. But I have an eyewitness who says that she saw the car parked in the parking garage the night of the accident, in the wrong spot.

Hmm, so what I’m hearing is a lot of circumstantial evidence, albeit very compelling circumstantial evidence, and no absolute proof.

That’s correct. And without the car, we likely never will have absolute proof. So what I need to know is, are you ready to indict, based off of what we have?

So what do you think, Doc? Could Brady be struggling with his sobriety?

[unsettling music] Doc?

While you were in Greece, I will admit that I had a few concerns.

What does that mean? What sort of concerns?

Well, I knew he was having a hard time dealing with the Theresa business. And, um, I mean, he’s a grown man. I didn’t feel that I could talk to him about it. But I did feel that I could ask Paul how he was doing.

All right. What did he say?

Paul said that Brady admitted that he was, uh– he was struggling, and that he had upped his meetings, and he had even spent a lot more time with his sponsor.

All right. And what do you think? What’s your gut telling you?

Well, I-I try not to jump to conclusions, especially after the last time all this happened.

You’re talking about when Eric got behind the wheel drunk, right?

I should have learned from that. I should have sat Brady down and had a serious talk with him before it was too late.

Tate–so I thought– wait, weren’t you out of town for the summer?

Uh, yeah, I was, um, and now I’m back. Hey, I wanted to tell you that I heard what happened to Sarah. And I just wanted to say that I’m sorry.

Thanks, mate. I appreciate it.

Yeah, and I hope they find whoever did this and they give him or her exactly what they deserve.

You and me both. The good news is, the police may have a suspect.

Really? That–that’s great.

Yeah. I just hope they stop dithering around and nail the son of a bitch to the wall.

So are you going to tell me who this suspect is?

Does it matter?

It might.

Brady Black.

[suspenseful music]

Brady Black? By all means, arrest him.

Grandma, what night are you talking about?

Sweetheart, Sarah and Xander were planning on spending their wedding night at the Horton cabin.

Oh. Oh, I didn’t know.

Oh, no, honey, it’s okay. It was very last-minute.

So why didn’t you guys?

Uh–

What happened?

They were heading to the ferry. And I couldn’t find the keys to the cabin. So Sarah decided to come over and help me look for it, but–

But what?

[somber music] Oh. Wait, Sarah, was that the night of your accident, when you were hit by the car?

Yeah, yeah, I was walking to the parking lot.

And if you hadn’t been on the way to Grandma’s because I took the key– oh, my God. Sarah, what happened to you, it’s all my fault.

It’s true, isn’t it? This happened to you because of me. If I hadn’t–

Holly, Holly. Look at me. Look at me. This is not your fault. You had no way of knowing what would happen. It’s–

No, because if Tate and I hadn’t been sneaking around at the cabin, then you’d be fine.

[cries] I shouldn’t be here.

Holly–

I’m sorry.

Holly.

Holly? What was that all about?

[dark music]

Correct me if I’m wrong. But I’m sensing that you have some type of bad blood with Brady?

Oh, it’s been Capulets and Montagues between our families going back generations. But our history has nothing to do with my legal assessment of the case. From what you’ve told me, the preponderance of evidence suggests we may well be able to win a conviction.

So I should move?

Go find Mr. Black and read him his Miranda rights.

Okay, will do.

Hello, Detective. I was curious if you had any leads.

I think you already know the answer to that.

Why would I know the answer to that?

Save it, Kristen. I know you were eavesdropping the whole time.

Well, you can’t blame me for being curious.

Listen. I know that Brady is Rachel’s father. But if you know anything–

I don’t. Now if you’ll excuse me.

Hey, sweetheart. Look at me. Look at me. You are not in any way responsible for what happened. Now, if Brady is responsible somehow for this hit-and-run here, he’s just gonna have to man up and own it.

I know. He hasn’t done that yet.

And that’s why I’m gonna have to confront him.

John?

He is my son. If he’s lying to me or he’s telling me the God honest truth, I’ll know it.

It’s crazy what happened to Sarah. I mean, what kind of person would just hit her and then keep going? I mean, you’d have to be some kind of psychopath or something to do that. I’m just glad they have a suspect. You know?

Yeah.

Dad?

What? Yeah, what?

Did you just hear anything that I said?

Yeah, I’m sorry. I’ve been– I’ve been distracted. Um, what I hear, son, is you trying to change the subject.

You want me to apologize again? ‘Cause I will. Dad, I made a huge mistake. But, look, Mom is the one that was militant about keeping me and Holly apart. You just went along with it. You even said that you would consider letting us date again when the school year started, and it’s about to start.

I know. I know.

And on top of that, Holly and I spent the whole summer together, and nothing bad happened. So I’m sorry. I’m sorry about lying about lacrosse camp and about Smith Island. But come on, Dad. I mean, like, don’t you– don’t you remember being in high school? I mean, I’ll literally take any other punishment. I mean, just please don’t keep Holly and me apart.

[suspenseful music]

I mean, put yourself in my shoes, Dad.

What? Um, what do you mean by that?

Are you okay?

Yeah.

You look like you just saw a ghost.

No, I’m–I’m–I’m– I’m all right. Um, can Holly take you home? Can she?

Yeah, but– sure. Why?

All right. Good. Because there’s something I got to do. It just came up. I gotta– I gotta–listen, take care of your ankle. Ice it.

[somber music]

Hey, thanks for letting my dad and I talk. I-I-I thought I was getting through to him, but then he started acting really weird. It’s like his brain was somewhere else. Honestly, I have no idea if I’m in trouble or not. Hey, what’s going on? Are you okay?

It’s our fault, Tate. What happened is our fault.

What–what are you talking about? What–

Aunt Sarah, she was in the accident because of us.

Well, I’m certainly not going to blame Holly. I mean, you might as well blame the flap of a butterfly’s wings for starting World War I, right? As much as I’d love to go scorched earth over all this, the only person to blame for the accident is the driver. No one else.

Yeah, I agree. Hey, why were you gone so long? I was afraid something was wrong.

No, no, something is finally very right. I ran into Jada in the town square.

Well, what did she say? Is there any news?

Good news. The police have a prime suspect in the hit-and-run.

Oh, my God. Who is it? Who’s the suspect?

I don’t know. She wouldn’t tell me.

[curious tense music]

So what did Jada want?

Oh, she just wanted to see if I’d give her the go-ahead to arrest a suspect in the Sarah Kiriakis hit-and-run case.

And did you?

I did indeed. And funny enough, it just so happens that the suspect is your baby daddy. But something tells me you knew exactly what was going on.

Hey, son, listen. When you get this, give me a call, will you? There’s, uh, something I want to talk to you about. Love you, pal.

[siren wails]

And I’m gonna need two officers to execute the arrest warrant in the hit-and-run of Sarah Kiriakis.

There’s no need for that, Detective. I’m here.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[dramatic music]

So you want to tell me what I just walked in on?

Yeah. It was nothing, I swear.

Nothing, OK, well, it sure didn’t seem like nothing, considering you two were both half naked.

Yeah, because I just woke up, and Sophia just– I don’t know, she showed up here out of the blue, and then she came on to me. And it was weird, and it was random, and it was lame.

Well, Tate, I have a feeling if I hadn’t shown up when I did, neither of you two would have been half naked for long.

OK, Holly, look, I get how this looks, but I’m telling you, I totally shut her down. The only one I want to be with is you. You believe me, don’t you?

I’m sorry, why would you need to see my car?

To determine whether or not you’re the driver who hit Sarah.

Hey, Chad.

Kristen, hi.

Hi. Do you mind if I come in?

Sure.

So I heard about everything that’s going on.

Yeah, news–news travels fast in this house.

Yeah, I mean, well, that kind of news, yeah, spreads pretty quickly.

[laughs] So… where is this woman who claims to be Abigail? Hmm?

[sighs] I don’t see you. Where the hell are you?

Relax. I’m right here.

[sighs]

[sighs]

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

OK, so you want me to believe that Sophia showed up here uninvited, she took a ferry all the way here just to throw herself at you, and you just shut her down?

Yes. Yes, I did. I only wish that I would have thrown her out sooner. I was just–I was shocked, obviously, when she came in. And then she started, you know, throwing herself at me. And I was like, oh, my God, and I was totally– I promise you, I was totally turned off. But she didn’t believe that. She just bulldozed right past that. And she–she just disrobed–

OK, Tate, Tate, Tate, hey, hey, hey, relax. Of course I believe you.

[sighs]

I know you shut her down. I could tell by the look on her face, for one thing. And I also trust you.

[sighs] Thank you. Yeah. I’m so relieved. It must have–must have been weird to walk into that.

Yeah, it was no fun walking in on that.

Yeah. So maybe…

[soft music]

Maybe what?

I don’t know. Maybe you could, you know, reassure me that I’m the only girl you want.

Reassure you?

Mm-hmm.

I would love to reassure you.

There you go. Feeling reassured?

Yeah.

[chuckles]

Good.

I’m really glad to see you.

Same. Hey, how’s your Aunt Sarah doing?

She’s doing OK, considering. I mean, I just– I feel really horrible for her. What kind of person just hits somebody with their car and then drives away like that?

A horrible person, a person with no conscience.

Yeah. Well, I hope the police catch that horrible person soon.

There you go, my little darling. Now, you’re going to play by yourself for a little while so Grandma can have a little break, hmm? Ah. That smile tells me you are. Well, God bless your little heart.

[knock at door] Who is it?

Mum, it’s me.

Hi, darling. How lovely.

Hey, Mum.

Hi. Mwah. How’s Sarah?

Oh, she’s– she’s holding up. Maggie’s with her now. I just wanted to check on Victoria.

You didn’t have to do that. I told you I’d watch her.

I know you did. It’s just, I needed to see her. Hey, darling.

Oh, she’s been an absolute angel.

Yeah? You’ve been behaving for your grandmum?

[chuckles] And how are you holding up?

[dramatic music]

Oh, well… I’ll be better when the police arrest the driver that nearly killed my wife.

[chuckles] I don’t understand. Why would you think my car would be involved in that accident?

Because we have evidence that the car that hit Sarah Horton was a late model gray sedan.

OK, well, there’s a lot of gray sedans out there.

True, but we also have security footage that gave us a partial plate. So that narrows it down quite a bit. So I need to see your car–now.

Like, I said, it’s not a big scratch, but– oh, my God.

What is it?

Where’s the car?

Look, I wish I could show you my car.

What do you mean?

Jada, it’s not here. It was stolen.

She doesn’t claim to be Abigail. She is Abigail. And she didn’t just come to me, so you know. Jack and I, we found her.

OK, I see. I see. And…where is she?

She needed some time to think, so she went for a walk. You know, this is all a lot for her right now.

Yeah, I can only imagine. I mean, I understand that she can’t remember anything about her life.

She couldn’t, no, until today.

Oh. OK, and what did she remember?

[clears throat] She remembered Clyde coming into this room and stabbing her.

Oh, God. I mean, what a memory to have.

Yeah, that’s what I said.

Chad, I’m just wondering, are you sure that is a real memory?

Hey. How are you?

[scoffs] I’m stressed out. I just left Chad. I told him that I had a memory.

OK.

OK? I had to give him something. And that house feels like a mausoleum. Like, everyone’s staring at me at all times, even the creepy portrait of Chad’s father.

God, no wonder you’re stressed out.

At least Jack and Jennifer went back to Boston. It’s two fewer sets of eyes on me, but there are so many DiMeras in that house. I know they’re just expecting at any minute for me to morph into Abigail and remember her life. And Chad, he’s doing his best to give me space, but… he looks at me with those puppy dog eyes, and I had to throw him a bone.

What did you tell him you remember?

About the night of Abigail’s murder.

Well, apparently, I have no problem resisting Sophia, but a maple bacon scone from Sweet Bits, it’s a whole different story.

Mm-hmm, I know, which is why I got them when I bought doughnuts for Sarah.

Mmm. You know, I still can’t believe that’s happened to her.

Yeah, me neither. Oh, by the way, Aaron’s brother came to check on her while I was there.

Mark?

Mm-hmm. Get this, he said he saw a picture of Aaron on the lacrosse camp’s Instagram.

Oh, yeah?

Only it was labeled “Tate Black.”

[dramatic music]

Are–wait, are you telling me that he knows that Aaron’s pretending he’s me?

Oh, no, no. I think he thinks they just made a mistake, but kind of freaked me out. I don’t think he’s suspicious, though.

OK, good.

He was, like, super concerned about Sarah. I mean, she’s not just his patient. She’s also his friend. But that’s probably ’cause they work together.

Right. You know Mark pretty much raised Aaron and Felicity by himself since his parents died?

Yeah, I did know that. Can’t imagine what it must be like to parent your siblings and also be a doctor too. I mean, talk about a great guy, right?

You did the right thing.

Well, I’m glad you feel that way. I don’t think I had a choice. And now I’m gonna have to continue remembering parts of my life if we’re going to expect everyone to believe that I’m Abigail DiMera.

Well, luckily, we got a lot of the heavy lifting out of the way.

Yes. Thank you for fixing the DNA test.

[sighs]

Of course it’s a real memory, Kristen. She described it to me.

So what? I mean, the circumstances of Abigail’s murder, it’s pretty much public knowledge. And Clyde is the only one who could corroborate or contradict any account of that night. And he is in prison for committing that crime.

OK, what are you insinuating? Just say it.

I know that you loved Abigail.

No. I love Abigail, not loved. Love, present tense.

Chad, I–I– I don’t have an agenda here. I’m just looking out for my baby brother.

Well, no, it’s not helping, Kristen, so why don’t you, you know, go back to work or, you know, whatever it is you were doing before you came here and started depressing me.

Oh, God, Chad, come on. Come on. The girl comes out of the woodwork with a totally different face, claiming to have amnesia. And everybody is just so thrilled that Abigail may be alive that they just buy it. I mean, how do you know that she’s not a fraud?

Well, I can imagine we’ll all feel better once that bloody driver is caught. Do the police have any leads? You’d said the investigation had stalled.

Actually, the– there’s been a breakthrough.

Oh?

Yeah, just got an update from Commissioner Hunter. The police have a partial license plate, and now they’re going through all the cars that could match that plate. With any luck, they’ll soon find the person that did this.

Your car was stolen?

It was.

When did this happen?

A few days ago.

Can you be a little more specific? Was it before, on, or after the th of this month?

The th?

The night of Sarah’s accident.

Right, OK, right. It was before.

Before? Are you certain?

I’m certain, yeah, it was–no, it was the morning of the th. I remember because I had a big meeting at Basic Black and I missed it because I was late.

Right. And where was your car supposed to be when it disappeared?

In the parking garage downstairs.

Uh-huh.

Well, look, I only have– only one of the cars that we’re checking was reported stolen. And it wasn’t yours.

[sighs] That’s because I didn’t report it.

I don’t understand. Your car was stolen and you did not think to report it? You just, what, went about your day?

Yeah, pretty much. Look, I know– not the wisest thing to do, right? But I’ve been slammed at work. I’ve had to cover for Xander over at Titan. And I’ve had some long, long nights.

Grand theft auto is a very serious crime, Brady.

Yeah.

And I know your family is going through a lot right now, but to not report that–

I get it. I get it. It was silly, but I’m very sorry. Hold on. Wait, wait. Jada, you don’t think that my car was actually–

Yeah, I do. I think it’s very possible that the same person who stole your car is the same person who hit Sarah.

[dramatic music]

So it sounds like the police might be resolving the case.

Yeah, that’ll be such a relief. I mean, obviously, it won’t do anything for Sarah’s condition, but I just want that bastard caught so badly. Can’t stop picturing him behind the wheel, knowing that he had mown Sarah down and just drove off anyway, not caring if she was dead or alive.

It’s unconscionable. But what about Sarah’s condition? You said it may be reversible.

But it might not be. Sarah’s a doctor. She knows all too well that… the odds of her regaining the use of her legs– from everything she’s told me, there’s a good chance that she will never walk again, Mum.

I see. And, darling… do you think that might make a difference to you?

What do you mean?

Well… I’m just wondering whether it might change the way you feel about Sarah, about the life you two planned together.

No, of course not. I mean, why would you even ask something like that?

I am the luckiest man in the world to even have Sarah in my life after everything we’ve been through. I love her more than I thought I could ever love anyone. Nothing’s gonna change that. If anything’s changed, it’s–

If anything’s changed, what?

I’m just not sure that she’s lucky to have me.

Look, I have not been the most reliable person, even under the best of circumstances. And now… we have a daughter to raise and take care of. And Sarah is possibly gonna have to adapt to a whole new way of life.

I’m just worried I’m not gonna be the man that she needs me to be.

No, darling. I know it’s going to be a heavy burden to carry, but you’re strong enough, and you will.

How could you know that?

Because a mother knows her son. And besides, I’m here now to help you with anything you need, anything. So please, please let me help you, Xander. God knows, after what I’ve done, I really need to help you.

After what you’ve done? Mum, what are you talking about?

– You know, it’s not too late to report this. You just got to go down to the station and speak to a detective.

Right. No, I will. I will.

Now, please.

Oh, now? OK, I will.

Yes, it’s pertinent to the investigation into Sarah’s hit-and-run.

Of course. I will do it. And, Jada, I am sorry for not doing it sooner.

Well, I’m not gonna take up any more of your time.

OK.

[sighs]

Holly, you know, other girls can throw themselves at me, but you’re the only one that I want.

Well, then maybe we should stop talking about other girls.

Right. So what do you want to do instead?

[soft music]

We can– do you want to go swimming?

Yeah, I like swimming, yeah. Mm-hmm.

OK.

[laughter] Go get your swimsuit and I’ll change into mine.

OK. OK.

She’s not a fraud. There was a DNA test. It was a match. It’s Abby.

OK, I’m sorry. I really am. It’s like I said, I’m just trying to protect you. I mean, you’ve been through so much these last few years, and I would hate for you to get hurt again. That’s all.

Thank you.

All right. Well, I will see you and Abigail later.

Sure.

All right.

[tense music]

Well, it worked like a charm.

[sighs] As soon as the DNA results were in, Chad had no doubt that I was his dead wife.

How could he?

Yeah, how could he? I’m just grateful you were in the right place at the right time. Was it easy to change the test?

Easy if you know what you’re doing. And the only way someone will know that you’re not a match with Jack Deveraux and therefore not the real Abigail DiMera is if they give you another test.

[sighs] We make a good team, don’t we?

We do.

[sighs]

Now… we need to talk about the next steps to our plan.

It’s not what I’ve done. It’s what I haven’t done. All those years not being there for you.

There’s no need to dredge all that up again.

Yes, but it explains why you’re feeling the way that you feel right now. You see, darling, you being worried that you can’t be the man you think Sarah needs, surely, part of that is because you didn’t have my support for all those years.

[dramatic music] But you do now.

I know I do. And I am grateful for it.

Xander, I’m going to make up for all those lost years. I promise you, I’m gonna make up for it all.

[camera shutter snapping]

[car door clicks shut]

Jada?

Marlena, hi.

Hi. What’s going on?

Well, Brady told me that his car was stolen.

What?

He didn’t mention that to you?

No. No, when did that happen?

Well, that’s what I’m trying to figure out now. Do you remember when you last saw it?

Well, let me think. Yeah, it was the other night. John and I had just come back, and Brady had parked in my parking spot.

OK, do you know what night that was?

That would have been when John got back from Missouri, so that would have been the th.

[knock at door]

Brady, it’s Kristen. Come on, I need to talk to you.

[groans] All right, hold on.

Brady, come on.

Hold on. Come in, please. Listen, I don’t have the patience or the time right now. If this is about Rachel, that’s another thing.

This is about your car.

My car?

Yes, I suppose you’re wondering where it is.

How did you know my car was missing?

Well, because I’m the one who took it.

[groans]

OK. Here we are.

Ah, God. I can’t believe I fell like that. God, it’s so embarrassing.

No, no, I mean, the beach was rocky, and you weren’t looking down.

Yeah.

Do you think it’s broken.

No, I think I’m pr–

[groans]

Hey. Hey, you don’t have to pretend to be fine just so I’ll think you’re some kind of badass.

OK, yeah, you’re right. It’s dumb.

[groans]

I’m taking you to the hospital.

No. No. I mean, no, I’m not supposed to be in Salem. What if someone sees me at the hospital?

Don’t worry. We’ll be very stealth. OK, come on.

All right.

Ready?

Yeah.

Let’s do it.

[groans] Ready.

I don’t exactly feel comfortable talking about this where everyone can see, but yes, we do technically need to discuss what comes next. I mean, I guess–

Abby?

Hi, Chad.

Hi. Sorry, I got– I was worried about you being out here all alone, but I guess you’re not.

Oh, yeah, I was just asking this nice man for directions. Managed to get lost even with my GPS.

I’m so glad that your friend found you.

Right, well, thank you for your help.

How you doing?

Better now. I just needed to clear my head.

Sure, well, having that memory of Clyde must have been upsetting.

Yeah, but I’m happy that I’m starting to remember.

Me too. And I think you’re gonna remember more.

Yeah, I think so too.

I was thinking if we– maybe if we talk more specifically about what you– what you did remember, maybe it would help spark something.

Specifically…how? What do you mean?

Well, just the– you know, what– that terrible night, what happened, you know, the night you were murdered, like, what color robe you were wearing.

[dramatic music]

I should get back to the hospital.

Of course.

[sighs] All right, wee monkey, I’ll see you later.

[chuckles]

Thanks again for watching her.

It’s my pleasure. She is such a joy.

I am glad you’re here, Mum. You really are helping.

Oh. And I’m so grateful to you and to Sarah for welcoming me back into your lives.

Bye.

[sighs]

So Brady parked his car in your spot the night of the th?

Yes.

Did you or John see Brady that night?

No, no, I don’t think so. I guess he had–he’d gone to bed before we came in.

I did–I did ask him about it the next morning, and he just said that somebody else had parked in his space.

Hmm. I see.

Why do you have all these questions? This clearly happened before Brady’s car was stolen.

Right, at this point, I’m just putting together a timeline for the investigation. Thank you for your help.

Why would you take my car?

Isn’t it obvious? And you’re welcome, by the way.

Damn it, Kristen. Kristen, answer my question.

[sighs]

Why?

Why? I mean, apparently, you’re too dense to figure it out. I found out that the car in Sarah’s hit-and-run was gray. And I remember that you were a mess that morning when I came in, and I went down to the garage, and, well, I saw the damage on the front end, and I realized that you must be the one who ran over that poor woman. So I got rid of the evidence.

I can’t believe it. I can’t–I can’t believe it. Why? Why would you do that?

Why would I do that? I did it for our daughter. It would kill her to see you in prison for some drunken hit-and-run. Which I am assuming that you were drinking that night?

I actually don’t– I don’t remember the accident, all right? I woke up in the car.

OK, you know what? Hey, it doesn’t matter. Said car is gone.

Are you sure?

Mm-hmm.

Are you sure? Because Jada was just here asking questions. She said they have a partial plate from security cameras.

OK, well, what did you tell her?

I didn’t know what to tell her, Kristen, all right? I told her the car was stolen.

And as far as you know, it was.

Yeah. Yeah, now I know who stole it.

OK, insignificant. See, without the car, Detective Hunter has nothing. So just stick to your story and, you know, stay calm.

Stay calm.

Stay calm and do what you would normally do. That’s all you–

What does one normally do when they– when they have run down a member of their own family? What do they normally do?

OK, you go to the hospital. You offer your kindness, your compassion, and you should do that right now.

Mm-hmm.

And just, you know– just act like nothing’s wrong.

I can’t act like nothing’s wrong. Did you hear? Did you hear Sarah is paralyzed? She may never walk again. It’s my fault!

OK, you know what, Brady?

It’s my fault!

[groans] You know what? Why don’t we look at this as glass half full?

Kristen.

No. I mean, Sarah’s alive, and I’m sure her loved ones would agree that where there’s life, there’s hope.

Ooh, you sound like a greeting card or something.

Great, great, great, great. You know what? I’m just trying to get you to drop your guilt and self-pity. Come on. What’s done is done, Brady. Listen, and as far as your drinking, I don’t know what Theresa did to push you off the wagon, but…

[sighs] It’s not worth throwing your life away. Look at me. Our daughter needs you. So you need to get sober and pull your life together.

I’m here for you. I will help you, Brady.

Thank you, Kristen.

Like I said, I’m doing this for our daughter.

[siren wailing]

Hi.

Hi.

So I have some good news.

OK.

Your Aunt Kayla’s in surgery, and since Sarah’s a patient herself, we don’t have to worry about anyone seeing us– or, well, anyone important, that is.

Oh, great.

Holly. Tate. Let me guess, lacrosse accident?

No, not exactly.

Yeah, I didn’t think so, since the camp you’re supposed to be at with my brother is in upstate New York.

It’s a long story.

I got time. Aaron took my place at camp.

So Tate and I could spend the summer together.

So not that long of a story.

Well, my dad doesn’t know that I’m back in town. And look, Aaron, is getting free camp out of our deal. And I know he really loves it there.

It’s basically a win-win for everyone here.

Yeah. And I hate to ask. I know it’s a lot, but could you just, like, not tell anyone that I was here?

So… you want me to lie.

You want to know what color robe I was wearing when someone stabbed me to death– or not to death, really, but what?

Well, like I said, I think that it could maybe help you remember some details.

I can’t tell you what color the robe was. I mean, it was covered in blood, but I was a little more focused on the guy with the knife. Where is this even coming from? Why are you asking me this? Do you not believe the memory that I had was real?

No, no, no, I believe it was real. It’s just that–

OK, then what? What?

No, it’s just that– that–that–OK. OK, just, my sister Kristen put this idea in my head.

What idea?

Just that a lot of people could have known what happened to Abby that night, you know, ’cause it was all over the news and social media.

Oh, OK. So that’s what this is about. You don’t think I’m really Abigail. You think I’ve been lying to you.

No, I don’t– I don’t think that.

Why don’t you think about why I’m even here with you right now, Chad? OK, you came looking for me, not the other way around. I came back with you. I trusted you and came back with you to take a DNA test.

I know. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.

I am doing the best that I can to be the wife that you remember. But if this is not good enough for you, I mean, we can just call off the whole thing. I can head back to Poplar Bluff now.

It’s just a bad sprain. Get you some crutches, and you’ll be healed in no time. No more than a few days, I’m guessing, and you’ll be fine.

Thank you. You never answered my question, though. Are you gonna tell anyone that I ditched lacrosse camp to stay in Salem?

You came to the hospital for medical attention, and as your doctor, I’m restricted from saying anything about your care without your consent, including where you got treated. You don’t have to worry. I’m more than capable of keeping a secret.

[dramatic music]

OK, look, I don’t–I don’t– I don’t want you to go back to Poplar Bluff. OK, I don’t. I think that you’re Abigail. I do. I just think that the– the stress from the past few days is just– it’s just really starting to get to me. And so I listened to my sister, who is a total cynic. You know, more like a misanthrope. She just doesn’t trust humankind in general, and she thinks that everybody’s lying.

Wow. She sounds like a delightful person.

No, she’s not. I just– I really don’t want you to leave. OK? I don’t. It doesn’t matter to me what you look like or what you remember. I’m really happy that you’re here with me, so…

If you want, will you just come home with me?

OK. Yeah. Let’s go home.

[line rings, beeps]

Oh, hi, John. It’s me. I was hoping to talk to you about something, but… I guess it’ll have to wait till I see you. Love you.

[sighs]

Kristen.

Marlena, hi. I just came by to see Brady. I heard his car got stolen.

Yes, I just heard that myself.

Yeah, I mean, I guess Salem isn’t as safe as it used to be. I do hope the police find out who did it, though. Hmm. Well, I’ll see you later.

Nope. I’m done with that now.

I’m gonna be the mother Xander needs me to be.

[light music]

Xander, I was just on my way to see you.

Commissioner.

Yeah, I assumed that you would be on your way to the hospital.

Ah, I’m heading there now. My mum’s looking after my daughter, so I went to check on her. Is there news?

There is. We have a suspect in your wife’s hit-and-run.

[dramatic music]

God, we are so lucky Dr. Greene agreed to keep our secret.

Yeah, I know, especially since we both have family who work here.

Right, so let’s not press our luck. We better get you back to the cabin before anyone sees us.

Let’s do it.

Come on.

Luna finishes building the cage around Steffy. Steffy keeps trying to wake up but is very groggy. Finally, she awakens to see Luna staring down at her. Steffy is still out of it and not sure where she is or what happened. She realizes that she’s in a cage and wonders why. Luna informs her that the whole apartment is about to be demolished. Steffy has a headache, but Luna tells her that the effects will wear off. She’s holding the glass that Steffy drank from, to remind her about the drug. Steffy remembers what happened and demands to be let out of the cage. She yells for help and pounds on the cage. They argue. Steffy realizes that Luna wants Bill for herself, so that’s why she frames her mother for the murders. Luna admits she did it all, and she’s gotten away with it. She won’t let Steffy tell anyone. Steffy goes back to screaming, and pounding on the cage.

Ridge and Brooke argue briefly about Hope kissing Finn. Finn walks in and tells them in an annoyed way that Steffy left town because of the kiss. Brooke keeps telling them that Hope is very sorry for the kiss. Finn informs them that Steffy is mad at him, too, and he is worried that Steffy asked him for space and not to contact her. Finn blames himself for not avoiding Hope and telling Steffy what happened. He’s worried about whether Steffy is OK or not. Finn tells them about all the troubles he and Steffy have had recently. He beats himself up for what’s been happening. Ridge and Brooke assure him that he’s not at fault. Finn goes on and on about Steffy.

Bill phones Justin to find out how Poppy’s doing in jail. Katie comes in and tells him that she heard Luna’s not his daughter. Bill is upset that he lost Luna as his daughter. They discuss the situation and whether Poppy is guilty or not. She asks if Poppy is out of his life now, but he hasn’t decided anything yet. His biggest concern is for Luna, whom he thinks is the innocent one in all of this. When Katie mentions that Luna told RJ she has to be there for Bill, since she really loves him, he flashes back uncomfortably to the kiss she gave him. Katie and Bill hold hands. He thanks her for being there for him. She tells him how important he is to his sons, and to her, and they hug.

Days Of Our Lives Nitpicks & Flubs For The Week Of August 19, 2024

Opinion Article

Kayla and Steve

Monday

Kayla told Steve about Sarah’s condition. We’re pretty sure she wasn’t supposed to do that.

It’s hard to believe that Jack didn’t have time to call Steve to let him know that Jennifer was in town. Why didn’t Steve go with them to meet Abby?

Melinda was stupid to go to Connie’s place by herself when she fired her. She may not know what Connie did, but she should have had someone with her when she went to Connie’s place.

Chad managed not to hear all of Abby’s conversation.

Connie was yelling at the Li stand, but Melinda didn’t hear her talking.

Melinda drank the tea that Connie offered to her. You would think that she wouldn’t have drunk it since she fired Connie.

Tuesday

Johnny was making a movie about Marlena, but he didn’t realize that Hattie wasn’t his grandmother. He should have realized who she was because Hattie doesn’t dress like Marlena.

Chanel suddenly hired people to work at Sweet Bits. The place barely reopened, and she suddenly had the staff that she’s bored.

Kate conveniently knew where to find Leo. She doesn’t visit him, but she was able to find out where he was staying.

Wednesday

Brady had a visual flashback of his conversation with Fiona. They were on the phone, so he shouldn’t have seen her face.

Fiona talked about what she did to Sarah, but Xander managed not to hear it.

Sarah’s bruises looked different. At the start of the episode, she had more bruises, but they were gone later.

Thursday

Who told Doug about Jennifer’s meeting with Abby? Why wouldn’t anyone tell Julie first?

Why would Abby talk to the mystery person in the living room? Anyone could have heard her.

EJ managed not to hear everything that Abby said on the phone.

How much of the drug did Melinda drink when she didn’t die, but Everett passed away from it?

EJ told Abby about Chad’s brothers, but he forgot to include Peter and Benjy. He mentioned Andre and Tony, so he could have mentioned them as well.

Friday

Abby has more clothes than she had when she arrived in Salem.

Fiona’s flashback could be heard before it was shown.

Sarah’s bruises looked like they were almost healed up.

Sarah referred to Tate by his first and last name to Xander as if he didn’t know him. Did she forget they are related?

Best Lines by Michele and Cheryl

Stefan: I was just trying to convey to you that I was missing you and how hard it was to live without you.
Gabi: Oh, I am so sorry for you. It wasn’t hard for me at all. You were all alone in your big soft bed, but I was lucky. I had a double murder cell mate to keep me company.

Johnny: Grandma?
Hattie: Do I look like a grandma?
Johnny: Uh, well, you certainly look like mine.
Hattie: Sorry kiddo. I don’t have any kids, so I probably don’t have any grandkids either.

Leo (reading from a book): A person suffering from DID may not be aware of what their alters are thinking or experiencing thus each can operate as separate, but distinct personas. Oh my God that describes Dr. Evans to a T. One minute she’s wolfing down pork rinds and calling my hunty, and I’m telling her about the time I thought Andy Cohen was hitting on me at Whole Foods, but it turns out he was just looking for ketchup and he thought I worked there.

Leo: I’ll stage an intervention. It worked for Everett or did it make it worse.

Alex (to Justin about Theresa): It’s gotta be some kind of record. We were married for a whole 30 minutes before it imploded.

Leo: You look and sound exactly like Marlena.
Hattie: Geez, like I haven’t heard that a gazillion times.

Days Opinions For The Week Of August 19, 2024

Opinion Article

by Michele & Cheryl

Ava and Stefan

Gabi confronted Stefan and Ava about their affair. She gave them the rope to hang themselves by giving them a chance to come clean. Stefan chose to deny it until the end. Gabi dropped the bomb on them by saying that Kristen confirmed what she suspected. We aren’t invested in Gabi and Stefan’s story, but we enjoy watching drama unfold. She yelled at them and was ready to fight Ava. We love a good cat fight, so we enjoyed watching Gabi go after Ava. Gabi planned on getting revenge on Stefan and Ava, so we’re ready to watch what she does. Hopefully watching the revenge unfold will hold our interest. The new Gabi knows how to do confrontation scenes. She needs work when it comes to regular dialogue, but she’s pretty good when it concerns making a spectacle of herself.

We find it hard to believe that Melinda is supposed to be a former D.A. She didn’t have to Salem brain. She chose to fire Connie by herself. Most of us know that managers won’t let you go by themselves. They want to intimidate employees by ganging up on them. She chose to go to her place by herself. We don’t have to be psychic to know that Melinda didn’t tell anyone except Ava about being at Connie’s place. She loses more points in the brains department because she drank Connie’s tea. Connie offered her tea after she fired her, and she drank it. Melinda wasn’t smart to do that. Would you drink something after you fired someone? Is it wise to drink tea when the person who offered it to you didn’t drink any of it?

Is anyone else sick and tired of Connie getting away with everything? We know that we are tired of it. She was able to drug Melinda’s tea, and she drank it. Connie also decided to be a talkative killer. She told Melinda everything about how she felt about Gabi and Stefan. Connie conveniently knew that Melinda didn’t tell anyone about being at her place. Melinda made that easy for her by not telling anyone. She was able to keep her captive without anyone knowing what she did. We can’t stress enough that we don’t believe that the actress playing Connie is good enough to keep portraying the character. She may be a fan of the show, but that doesn’t mean that she should have a big role in it. The actress needs more acting lessons if she’s going to pull off a big story like that.

Brady needs to stop drinking so much. He wouldn’t be in the mess that he’s in now if he didn’t drink. Fiona framed him for what happened to Sarah. She hit Sarah and paralyzed her. Fiona put Brady in the driver’s seat because she didn’t want to take the fall for what she did. If he didn’t get drunk, she wouldn’t have been able to set him up for the hit-and-run. Speaking of Fiona, we are getting tired of watching her get away with what she did. She isn’t being subtle with the things she’s done. Fiona speaks loudly, but no one hears anything. Xander will make him pay once he finds out that he was involved in the accident. Someone managed to take Brady’s car from the townhouse, so he would have to deal with someone else knowing what happened. We have a feeling Kristen was the one who moved the car, but we’ll see.

Why are the writers wasting their time with the Body & Soul storyline? The story is a waste and doesn’t need to be added to the show. It’s clearly for comic relief purposes, but it’s a waste of time. Too many cast members are going to be involved in this story, but it doesn’t work. Abe is acting like he’s the only one in charge of the show. Everyone suddenly wants to be an actor or involved in the show in some way. We get that the show feels heavy right now, but they don’t need this story to feature an ensemble. Hopefully the show doesn’t get dominated by this storyline.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Tate is at the Horton Cabin on Smith Island when Sophia shows up at the door, surprising him as she asks if he was expecting someone else.

Holly visits Sarah in the hospital, bringing her donuts from the bakery. Holly asks how she’s doing. Sarah responds that she’s alright, all things considered, and she’s actually worried about Xander because he’s not handling the whole situation very well. Holly is sure he’s just hurting for her. Sarah talks about Xander’s anger and frustration that he can’t do anything about it, so she’s worried that he might take it out on the wrong person.

Jada is on the phone in the police commissioner’s office when Xander storms in to confront her, questioning why she’s sitting behind her desk instead of being out there trying to find who was behind the hit and run on Sarah. Jada hangs up and tells Xander that she understands he’s upset about what happened but that doesn’t give him the right to barge in to her office. Xander tells her to spare him the lecture and asks her to explain why she hasn’t arrested the son of a bitch who mowed down his wife.

Brady paces at home, urging himself to think. Brady thinks back to going to the garage with Fiona, only to find his car was gone. Brady then wonders what the hell happened to his car. Brady gets a call from Maggie and asks if there’s any news on Sarah’s condition. Maggie responds that it isn’t good news as she informs Brady that Sarah is paralyzed.

“Abigail” is frustrated in her bedroom at the DiMera Mansion as she grabs her phone and makes a call, declaring that she doesn’t think she can do this anymore. She says they don’t need to remind her what’s at stake as she’s well aware but complains that it’s a lot harder than she thought it was going to be. Abigail talks about living in the house with Chad and his brothers that she apparently slept with and they are all waiting for her to remember her old life. Abigail talks about the way Chad looks at her and says he’s been patient and understanding but wonders how long that will last. Chad then knocks on her door and asks if she’s awake.

Brady tells Maggie that he’s so sorry and asks if Sarah’s paralysis is permanent. Maggie responds that they don’t know yet and are hopeful that she could regain the use of her legs but there is no guarantee. Brady asks what he can do. Maggie tells him to just pray for Sarah’s recovery and that the police find whoever did this and brings them to justice.

Xander questions if Jada has even lifted a finger or if she’s just enjoying Rafe’s job. Jada warns him to watch his tone. Xander wants results and a name. Jada assures that the police are doing everything they can to find the driver. Xander complains that if any of them could do their job, then the monster who paralyzed his wife would already be rotting in jail.

Fiona sits in her room at the Salem Inn and thinks back to Xander informing her of Sarah having no feeling from the waist down. Fiona worries about what she’s done to Sarah as she continues drinking.

Sarah tells Holly about Xander feeling the cops haven’t done enough to find who hit her. Sarah is sure Jada is doing the best she can but she knows Xander won’t stop until they arrest someone, so she hopes he doesn’t get himself locked up in the process. Holly guesses Xander does this kind of thing often. Sarah admits he’s very protective of her which is great most of the time. Holly relates that she would totally freak if someone hurt the person she loves. Sarah asks who that might be.

Tate questions what Sophia is doing at the cabin. Sophia talks about how busy Holly has been with working at the Bistro and her aunt in the hospital, so she thought he might be lonely all by himself and asks what he feels like doing.

Jada questions Xander saying that Sarah is paralyzed. Xander confirms she has no feeling from the waist down. Jada apologizes as she didn’t know. Xander complains that he’s not interested in her apology and tells her to just do her job. Jada promises that it’s her number one priority. Xander argues that it’s been days and they are no closer to knowing who did this. Jada says that’s not true. Xander remarks that he hasn’t seen an arrest. Jada says he didn’t give her a chance to give him the latest news. Xander questions her finding something and asks who it is. Jada informs him that they have a lead on the car that hit Sarah.

Brady goes to Fiona’s room. She asks if he found out what happened with his car. Brady says no as he has more pressing things as he talked to Maggie. Brady questions why Fiona didn’t tell him that Sarah was paralyzed. Fiona says she told him that she had numbness but admits she may have downplayed it. Fiona adds that it’s because she thought it wasn’t permanent and also that she’s really upset about it since Sarah is the mother of her grandchild. Brady understands but says he’s dying here. Fiona tells Brady to calm down. Brady argues that it’s easy for her to say when she’s not the one who might be responsible for Sarah’s paralysis.

Sarah asks Holly if there is someone special and if it’s who she thinks it is. Dr. Mark Green enters, interrupting them, and says he came to check on his favorite colleague. Sarah thanks him and introduces Mark to Holly. Holly says it’s good to see him again, so Sarah questions them knowing each other. Mark explains that Holly went to the prom with his little brother, Aaron, only to leave him halfway through the night which surprises Sarah as Holly says she’s sorry about that. Sarah questions why. Mark asks if Holly wants to tell her or if he should. Holly tells Mark to go for it, so Mark explains to Sarah that apparently, her prom date with his brother was all a ruse because Holly only has eyes for Tate Black.

Tate questions why Sophia would think he’d want to hang out with her. Sophia argues that they are friends but Tate argues that a friend wouldn’t go out of her way to gaslight Holly, by trying to make her feel bad that they haven’t had sex yet. Sophia says she was just surprised considering the amount of time they’ve spent together alone and that it must be frustrating for Tate. Tate says he’s fine. Sophia argues that she’s talked to a lot of guys who said teasing like that can get uncomfortable. Tate states that Holly isn’t teasing him and that those guys are just trying to get in Sophia’s pants. Sophia questions Tate not being like other teenage boys and thinking about sex all the time. Tate says he’s not, but Sophia points out his underwear which Tate argues is not happening because of her and asks her to stop. Sophia tells Tate that she can’t just leave him alone with all of that pent up sexual energy.

Abigail says she has to go and hangs up before Chad enters the room and brings her coffee. Chad asks how she slept. Abigail says pretty well. Chad admits he was a little worried about her being alone in the room where she was murdered. Abigail tells Chad that it’s okay as she survived. She asks if it’s hard for him to be in the room. Chad admits that it is. Abigail talks about thinking of Clyde coming in with the knife then stops. Chad asks if she’s okay as Abigail suddenly says she thinks she’s remembering. Chad questions what she remembers from that night. Abigail recalls being on the bed with Clyde coming in and saying he knew what she had been up to. Chad guesses he was talking about the investigation in to the drug ring and asks her what happened next. Abigail tells Chad that Clyde started walking towards her and then took out the knife. Abigail starts to panic so Chad stops her and says it’s too painful so they are done. Abigail tells Chad that the memory was right there but it’s gone. Chad hugs her and calls it a huge breakthrough as it’s the first thing she remembered which means the Abigail he knew is still in there. Chad calls it huge that her memories are coming back.

Sophia asks Tate if she’s making him uncomfortable. Tate says she is because he doesn’t want this as he loves Holly. Sophia asks who said anything about love. Tate asks her to just relax, so Sophia removes her robe and moves closer to Tate.

Sarah questions Holly pretending to go to prom with Aaron to spend time with Tate. Holly says that it’s not like she dumped Aaron since he was in on it and then Tate’s parents busted them anyway. Mark calls that the reason why Tate and Aaron are off at lacrosse camp together because Brady and Theresa thought Holly and Tate could use some distance. Sarah bets Nicole’s not complaining either. Mark brings up seeing the camp’s Instagram posting photos from the camp and says he saw a picture of Aaron but weirdly, his photo was captioned as Tate Black.

Xander questions if Jada found the car that hit Sarah. Jada says not yet but they found footage of a partial license plate, so they are working on tracking it down. Xander offers to get the Titan security team on it as well but Jada says she’s not going to do that, reminding him that it’s a police investigation so she’s not about to have him interfere with that. Xander argues that this is his wife. Jada understands but says he needs to let them do their job because the last thing she needs is for him to go around scaring possible suspects. Jada adds that it will take some time and that’s all she’s going to say. Jada tells Xander to go be with Sarah at the hospital. Xander tells her to call as soon as she knows anything. Jada confirms that she will call him as soon as they make an arrest. Xander declares that whoever did this to Sarah better pray that Jada finds them before he does. Xander then exits the office.

Fiona tells Brady that they are not even sure that he hit Sarah. Brady feels it’s looking pretty obvious. Fiona says for all they know, the hit and run driver could’ve taken his car. Brady asks why they would do that. Fiona argues that Brady doesn’t remember anything that happened that night so there’s no use thinking about what he may or may not have done since that’s not going to help Sarah. Fiona pulls out her alcohol and pours Brady a drink, saying it’s to calm his nerves which he accepts. Brady complains that Sarah and Xander just got married and have their whole lives ahead of them. Maggie then arrives with Victoria and knocks on the door, asking if Fiona is inside. Brady tells Fiona that Maggie can’t see him there, so Fiona sends him to the bathroom to hide with the vodka. Fiona then answers the door and claims she was just resting. Maggie hopes she is well rested because she’s on Grandma duty if that’s okay with her because she needs her to watch Victoria while she heads back to the hospital to visit Sarah. Fiona asks if there’s any change. Maggie says there’s no news to report and that Sarah is trying to be brave, but she can only imagine how terrified she must be, thinking of her future with possibly not being able to walk.

Sarah asks Mark if he sees anything in her test results that she and Kayla missed. Mark says he doesn’t but he is optimistic that if anyone can come back from this, it’s Sarah. Holly decides to get going and hugs Sarah. Mark tells Holly it was good to see her and if she runs in to Aaron before he does, to tell the camp photographer to get in touch with the real Tate Black. Holly says she will as she exits the room.

Tate tells Sophia to put her clothes back on but she continues trying to come on to him. Tate tells her to stop because he doesn’t want this. Sophia asks why not and says she won’t tell if he won’t.

Chad doesn’t want to pressure Abigail but asks if there’s anything else she can remember. Abigail says she doesn’t think so and that the memory just came like a flash and then disappeared. Abigail apologizes if he’s disappointed. Chad assures that he’s not and calls it a huge first step, feeling it’s only a matter of time before she starts remembering all the good times they shared together. Chad tells her they shared a lot of good times together as he hugs her. Chad worries that he’s putting too much pressure on her and says he’s sorry for getting impatient. Chad asks if she wants to spend the day together and suggests a ride to the lake after having breakfast. Abigail says that sounds lovely but she thinks she needs a little time alone to process what just happened. Chad says that’s no problem and blames himself for ramping up the pressure. Abigail tells Chad that it makes her hopeful to see the hope on his face. Abigail suggests taking a walk around town. Chad points out that she wouldn’t really know where she’s going. Abigail assures that she will be fine, so Chad asks where she will go. Abigail thinks she will go to the park and says maybe it will jog some memories as she then exits the room.

Maggie tells Fiona that it’s so strange as she thought it was finally Sarah’s time to be happy and settled, but then out of the blue, this random person takes it all away from her and then leaves her there like a coward. Fiona calls it awful and says Maggie must be anxious to get back to the hospital. Maggie thanks her for watching Victoria and says she appreciates it, repeating that she’s so happy that Sarah tracked her down. Maggie calls it a blessing for Xander to have his mother here. Fiona responds that they are all in this together and sends Sarah her love. Brady listens in as Maggie hopes they find the driver too. Maggie then exits the room. Brady comes out from hiding in the bathroom and says that was excruciating to hear how Maggie is suffering about her daughter because he’s most likely the cause of all the pain to begin with. Brady knows they can’t say for sure. Fiona encourages him to just stay the course. Brady asks if she’s sure she’s up for babysitting. Fiona says it will do her some good to spend time with Victoria. Brady decides he will leave her to it. Fiona assures Brady that it’s going to be okay as he exits the room.

Xander brings flowers to Sarah’s hospital room. Sarah introduces Xander to Mark. Mark talks about taking a personal interest in Sarah’s case since she is a friend and tells Xander to feel free to call with any questions or concerns. Mark then exits the room. Xander tells Sarah that she’s always perfect to him and kisses her. Sarah tells Xander about Holly bringing her donuts which Xander says was nice of her. Sarah mentions that Holly gave Xander props for being protective of her and says she would be the same with the person she loves, which she assumes is Tate. Xander questions Holly still pining after Tate. Sarah suggests that with Nicole gone, maybe they’ll get to spend time together when Tate gets back from camp. Xander questions if Sarah thinks that’s a good idea. Sarah says it seems like they like each other. Xander argues that Tate is Theresa’s son so if he inherited half of her miserable traits and Brady, he’s bad news. Xander worries that Tate will break Holly’s heart.

Sophia tells Tate to stop resisting as she can tell he wants this. Sophia jokes that what happens on Smith Island stays on Smith Island. Sophia adds that what Holly doesn’t know won’t hurt them, right as Holly arrives at the cabin and says she’s so wrong about that. Sophia swears it’s not what it looks like. Holly accuses Sophia of trying to make a play for her boyfriend. Sophia argues that she can’t make a claim on a guy that she hasn’t passed first base with. Holly tells her it’s none of her business. Holly calls Sophia a lying skank and tells her to get the hell out. Sophia tells Tate to try not to think of what she could’ve had and reminds Holly not to be late for work as she storms out. Holly then questions Tate as to what she just walked in on.

Xander tells Sarah that Holly could do a lot better than Tate. Sarah jokes about people saying that about Victoria. Xander talks about not letting Victoria date just anyone, vowing to not let anyone or anything hurt Victoria or Sarah ever again. They kiss until Maggie walks in and says that’s what she likes to see. Sarah asks about Victoria. Maggie says she dropped her off with Fiona and asks if there’s any news. Xander says there was an update on the investigation as Jada said they do have a lead from a partial license plate. Xander declares that with any luck, they will soon be knocking on the door of the bastard who put Sarah in the hospital.

Fiona encourages Victoria that Sarah will be home soon, safe and sound, if she can just keep Brady with his conscience from ruining everything.

Brady pours a drink at home but hides it away when Jada shows up at the door. Jada informs Brady that she’s investigating Sarah’s hit and run, so she needs to see his car.

Chad looks at a photo of he and Abigail, saying it won’t be long as she’s finally coming back to him.

“Abigail” goes to the park and pulls out her phone. Abigail sends a text that she doesn’t see them and asks where the hell they are. Dr. Mark Green then appears and tells her to relax as he’s right there.

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Tate was working out and heard a knock on the door. He assumed it was Holly, but it turned out to be Sophia. She was wearing a bathing suit. Sophia thought he would be lonely because Holly was dealing with family drama. Holly went to visit Sarah at the hospital. Sarah assured her that she was okay. She was worried about Xander because he was upset about what happened to her. Sarah thought Xander would take her anger out on the wrong person. Holly understood because she would go after anyone who hurt someone she loved. Xander barged into Jada’s office yelling because she didn’t find the person who hit Sarah. She got defensive until he told her that Sarah was paralyzed. They stopped yelling, and Jada offered her apology. He wanted her to show her compassion by catching the person who hit Sarah. She told him they had a lead on the person who hit Sarah. Brady was upset that his car was missing. Maggie called him and let him know about Sarah’s condition. Brady panicked when he heard that news. Fiona was at her room at the Salem Inn and thought about Sarah being paralyzed. She couldn’t believe what she did to Sarah. Brady showed up at her room demanding to know why she didn’t tell him about what happened to Sarah. He thought he might be responsible. Abby looked at a picture of her and Chad together. She called the person she talked to and said she couldn’t do it anymore. Abby knew what was at stake, but it’s harder than she thought. Chad knocked on the door. Dr. Mark Greene walked in Sarah’s hospital room before Holly could answer Sarah’s questions about love. Sarah introduced them. Mark mentioned that Holly used his brother so he could go out with Tate. Holly informed him that Aaron was involved in the plan. Mark talked about Aaron sharing a picture of him at camp, but it was captioned Tate Black. He thought that was weird. Abby didn’t have an answer for that.

Tate reminded Sophia that he had a girlfriend and that they aren’t friends. He didn’t like that Sophia made Holly feel bad about not having sex. Sophia was surprised they didn’t have sex yet. She flirted with him and noticed that she got his attention. Tate grabbed a pillow to cover himself up. She didn’t want to leave him when he feels that way. Tate didn’t want to be with her because he loved Holly. She wasn’t worried about love. Sophia began to take her clothes off. Abby got off the phone with the mystery person to talk to Chad. He wasn’t sure if she would have trouble sleeping in the room where she was murdered. She reminded him that she survived the attack. Abby wondered if it was hard for him to be in the room, and he admitted that it was difficult. She told him that she thought of Clyde coming after her with a knife and she zoned out. Abby snapped out of it and had a memory of Clyde. Chad held her as she talked about the memory. Jada let Xander know that they found a partial plate from the car that hit Sarah. He wanted Titan security to looked at the footage, but she didn’t want to give it to him. She didn’t want to give him any more information to use to interfere with the investigation. Sophia continued to seduce Tate even though he rejected her. She would tell if he didn’t say anything. Tate tried to untangle himself from her arms when Holly showed up. She threw Sophia out and asked Tate what happened. Chad believed Abby would regain her memory. She wanted to take a walk in the park alone to jog her memory. Maggie went to Sarah’s room, and Xander told her that the police discovered a partial plate number of the car that hit Sarah. He thought it might help them find the driver. Brady was at the townhouse and poured himself a drink. Jada arrived and wanted to see his car. Abby paced at the park and texted someone. Mark showed up and told her to relax because he was there.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[seabirds squalling]

[pleasant music]

[knock on door]

[chuckles] Hey, you’re early–

I don’t know, seems like I’m right on time.

[tense music]

Sophia?

In the flesh. Why? You expecting someone else?

Knock, knock.

Holly.

Hey, Aunt Sarah.

Aw, honey, it’s so good to see you.

Is now an okay time?

Oh, yeah, yeah. Now’s a fine time.

Good, because I brought you donuts from Sweet Bits.

[gasps] Grandma Alice’s famous recipe. If anything’s gonna put me in a good mood, it’s Gran’s donuts.

[chuckles]

So how are you doing? I’m sorry. Is that a dumb question?

No, that’s not a dumb question. I’m–I’m, uh– I’m all right, all things considered. It’s, uh–it’s Xander that I’m actually worried about.

Why? What’s going on with Xander?

He’s just–he’s not handling this whole situation very well, the paralysis.

Well, I’m sure he’s just, you know, hurting for you.

Mm, yeah. No, you’re right. It’s just, um, his anger that this happened to me and, uh, his frustration that he can’t do anything about it. I’m a little worried that he might take it out on the wrong person.

And I’m gonna need a list of the potential matches ASAP so I can start running them one by one.

[scoffs] Thought I’d find you in here, wasting time.

Excuse me?

Why are you sat in here behind your desk instead of out there investigating my wife’s hit-and-run?

Fred, I got to go. Get me those addresses ASAP.

[sighs] Listen, Xander, I know that you are very upset about what is happening with Sarah, but that doesn’t give you a right to barge into my office–

Spare me the etiquette lecture, Commissioner. Why don’t you just explain why you haven’t arrested the son of a bitch who mowed down my wife?

Come on, come on. Come on, Brady, think. Think. Oh, my God.

What is it?

Where’s the car? What the hell happened to my car?

[cell phone rings] Maggie, hey. – Hi. I’m sorry I missed your call earlier.

No, no, that’s okay. Um, is there any news on– on Sarah’s condition? – Yeah, there is. And I’m afraid it isn’t good news. Sarah’s paralyzed.

[sighs]

[dramatic music]

Hey, it’s me. Yeah, I don’t think I can do this anymore.

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

You don’t need to remind me of what’s at stake. Yes, I’m well aware, but this is a lot harder than I thought it was gonna be. Because I’m living in the house with Chad and his two brothers, both of whom I apparently slept with, by the way. Meanwhile, they’re– they’re all waiting for me to remember my old life– the way Chad looks at me. N-no. No, he’s being completely patient and understanding. But how long is that gonna last?

[knock on door]

Hey, Abby? It’s Chad. You awake?

Not that long, apparently.

[tense music]

Maggie, I-I’m so sorry. Sarah’s p–Sarah’s paralysis, is it, uh, permanent? – The doctors don’t know for sure. They’re saying that she might recover the use of her legs with the help of steroids and physical therapy, but there’s no guarantee.

Uh, what–uh, what can I do? – Just pray, Brady, both for her recovery and that the police find whoever did this to my daughter and bring them to justice.

Have you so much as even lifted a finger? Or are you just content to, uh, cash a paycheck now that you’ve stumbled into this cushy job, thanks to Rafe’s misfortune?

I’ll advise you to watch your tone.

My tone? I want results, Jada. I want a name.

And I assure you that the Salem PD is doing everything in our power to find the driver who hit Sarah.

Like hell you are.

Xander–

If you or anyone else in this pathetic excuse for a police department could actually do your jobs, then the monster that paralyzed my wife would already be rotting in jail.

[sighs] How’s Sarah doing?

Actually, um, after you left this morning to take over babysitting duties, we had a little bit of bad news, unfortunately.

Oh, no. What happened?

Sarah has no feeling in– in her legs– from the waist down, actually.

[sighing] No. Dear God, what have I done to that poor girl?

Xander was all worked up when he left here. He thinks that the cops aren’t doing enough to catch the person who hit me.

He’s just frustrated, like you said.

Yeah, yeah. You’re right. A-and I’m sure that Jada’s doing everything she can. It’s just, Xander’s not gonna stop until they arrest someone. And I love him for that, but I just hope he doesn’t get himself locked up in the process.

So Xander does this kind of thing often then, huh?

You could say that.

[chuckles] He’s just–he’s– he’s very protective of me, which is great most of the time.

Well, all I know is, I would totally freak if someone hurt the person Ilove.

Oh? And who might that be?

What are you doing here, Sophia?

Well, I know how busy Holly’s been, what with her grueling, menial job at the Bistro and her poor aunt being in the hospital following that awful hit-and-run business.

Sarah could’ve been killed.

Exactly. Totally tragic. The point is, I thought you might be lonely all alone by yourself on this island, so…what do you feel like doing?

[atmospheric music]

Sarah’s paralyzed?

No feeling or movement from the waist down.

Xander, I am so sorry. I didn’t know.

I’m not interested in your apologies, Jada. If you want to show compassion, just do your job.

I promise you, I am. It is my number one priority.

You could’ve fooled me. I mean, it’s been days, and you’re still no closer to knowing who did this to her.

That’s not true.

I haven’t seen an arrest or– or any movement at all.

Well, maybe if you didn’t storm into my office looking for a fight, you would’ve given me a chance to tell you the latest news.

Wait, are you saying you– you found something?

That’s right.

Well, who is it?

It’s not who. It’s what. We have a lead on the car that hit Sarah.

[intriguing music]

[knock on door]

[sighs] Hold on. Coming.

Brady, what are you doing here? Did you find out what happened with your car?

No, I have some more pressing things on my mind right now. I just spoke to Maggie.

Oh, I see.

Why didn’t you tell me that Sarah was paralyzed?

Well, I told you that she’d been having some numbness and some motor difficulties. I mean, yeah, I suppose I did downplay it somewhat. But honestly, that’s because I thought it wasn’t permanent. But not to mention the fact that I am terribly upset about all this. You know, I just found out that the mother of my granddaughter may never walk again. So forgive me if you are not the first person on my mind.

Fiona, I understand. I understand that you have something personal in this. But do you understand, I am dying here?

Brady, take a breath. Calm down.

I’m not taking a breath. I’m not calming down. Do you understand? That’s easy for you to say. You’re not the one that may have caused this accident. You’re not the one that may be to blame for her paralysis. – Well?

[singsongy] Is there someone special? Is it who I think it is? Am I being obnoxiously nosy?

No, it’s okay–

Hey. Is this a bad time?

Hi, Mark. No, not at all.

Well, I was just doing my rounds and decided to check on my favorite colleague.

Well, I appreciate that. Uh, Mark, have you ever met my niece Holly? Holly, this is Dr. Greene.

Your niece?

Uh, yeah, it’s my late brother’s daughter.

Small world, huh?

It’s good to see you again, Dr. Greene.

You two know each other?

We do. Holly went to the prom with my kid brother, Aaron…

Really?

Only to leave him halfway through the night.

Sorry about that.

Can I ask why? Or am I being obnoxiously nosy again?

Do you want to tell her, Holly, or should I?

Go for it.

Well, apparently, it was all a ruse, her prom date with my brother, because she only has eyes for Tate Black.

Okay, Sophia, why would you think that I would wanna hang out with you?

Well, we’re friends, right?

Uh, I don’t know, no. I mean, would a friend go out of her way to gaslight my girlfriend?

How did I gaslight Holly?

Oh, come on, Sophia. I mean, you know, she told me how you– you know, you tried to make her feel bad that, you know, we hadn’t had sex yet.

Well, I wasn’t trying to make her feel bad. I was just surprised. I mean, the amount of time you two have spent together alone, it’s got to be really… frustrating for you, to put it euphemistically.

I’m fine.

Are you?

Mm-hmm.

‘Cause I’ve talked to a bunch of guys, and they said when someone teases you like that, it can get uncomfortable.

Okay. All right, look, first of all, um, no, Holly’s not teasing me, and second, I hate to tell you, but those guys are just trying to get in your pants.

Okay, so you’re not like other teenage boys? You don’t walk around thinking about sex all the time?

No.

Maybe you should tell that to you-know-who.

Okay, all right, look, I– it’s not because of you. It’s morning, and it–it– you know, it happens sometimes just–

Morning, noon, night– there’s nothing to be ashamed of, nothing at all.

Can you just, I don’t know, stop or…

But I can’t just leave you all alone, not with all that pent-up sexual energy.

I have to go. I’ll talk to you later. Come in.

Hey. Brought you some coffee. Vanilla creamer–I– I’m not sure if you still like it that way or not.

[chuckles softly] Yeah, thank you.

So how’d you sleep?

[sighs] Pretty well.

Yeah? Good. I was a little bit worried about you alone in here, you know, in this room.

In this room… where I was murdered.

[tense music]

Yeah.

It’s okay, Chad. I survived. Is it hard for you… to be in this room?

Yeah. Yeah, it is.

Of course. Why wouldn’t it be? For me, I– I was thinking about Clyde coming in with the knife and how…

Abby? Hey, are you okay? Are you okay?

Chad, oh, my God. I think I’m remembering.

You remembered something from that night? What was it?

I–I was– I was on the bed there, and Clyde was coming in. And he–he said, uh– he said, um… “I-I know what you’ve been up to.”

About–he’s talking about the investigation, uh, into the drug ring?

I-I don’t– I don’t know, it’s fuzzy.

Okay, then w-what– what happens next?

He started walking towards me, and then he– he took out a knife and–

[gasps] No, no! No, no, no, no! God, no, no, no, no, no!

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hey, hey, hey. Stop.

No, no–

Okay, stop, stop, stop, stop. Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop. Stop. No, no, no, no.

Oh, God.

This is too painful. We’re done.

No, no, no.

No, it’s okay.

No, no. It’s gone.

No, listen, it doesn’t matter.

It’s gone. It was right there; it’s gone.

Yeah, I know. It’s fine. It doesn’t matter.

I’m sorry.

No. What do you mean? Are you kidding me?

It’s just, the memories, they’re right there.

I know. It’s fine. This is a huge breakthrough, okay?

Okay.

This is a huge breakthrough. This is the first thing that you’ve remembered. Yeah? And that means– that means that the Abby I knew, she’s still in there somewhere, okay?

Okay.

This is huge. Your memories are coming back. Yeah?

Okay, can you just– can you not? I mean–

[sighs]

[chuckles] Why? Am I making you uncomfortable?

Yes. Yes, you are, obviously. I don’t want this. I love Holly.

Who said anything about love?

Can you just please relax?

Now, that sounds like an excellent idea.

[mischievous music]

There. I feel much more relaxed already.

So you only pretended to go to prom with Mark’s brother so that you could spend time with Tate?

Yeah, but it’s not like I dumped Aaron or anything. And he was in on it, by the way. But Tate’s parents busted us anyway.

Which is a big reason the boys are off at lacrosse camp together.

Because Brady and Theresa thought that you guys could do with some distance, right?

Right.

Mm. I bet your mom isn’t complaining either.

Speaking of camp, I was looking at their Instagram page at some of the new photos they were posting.

Oh, did you see your brother?

I did. Yeah, it looks like he’s having a really good time. But for some reason, uh, his picture was captioned “Tate Black.” Weird, huh?

Yeah, totally weird.

Hm.

You found the car that hit Sarah?

Not yet, but we have surveillance video of a partial license plate.

But that’s enough, right, to track it down?

Hopefully. We’re working with Motor Vehicles on a list of matching cars in the surrounding area.

Well, that’s great news. Uh, give me the partial plates. I’ll have the Titan security team start investigating as well.

I am not going to do that.

Why not?

Because this is a police investigation, and I am not about to have you or your team interfere with that.

Interfere? This is my wife. I’m sure you have a dozen other cases that you need to work on, but this is all that matters to me.

I understand how much this matters to you, okay? But you need to let us do our job. The last thing I need is for you to go around scaring possible suspects. Okay, we’re gonna go car by car and rule out the suspects. But it’s gonna take some time.

How much time?

As much time as it takes. And that’s all I’m gonna say. Listen, go to the hospital. Okay? Go be with your wife.

You’ll call me as soon as you know anything, right?

I will call you as soon as we make an arrest.

[sighs] Whoever did this to Sarah better hope, better pray that you find them before I do.

[door slams]

[sighs]

But, Brady, we’re not even sure that you hit Sarah.

I don’t know, it’s looking pretty obvious right now. Don’t you think?

No, I don’t. For all we know, the person who took the car could’ve been the hit-and-run driver.

Why–why would they do that?

The point is, you don’t remember anything that happened that night. And there is no use in you sitting around thinking about what you may or may not have done. It is not gonna help Sarah.

[dramatic music]

Oh–

[scoffs]

Here. To calm your nerves.

Okay, all right.

Better?

No, it’s not better. It’s–it’s not better. Xander and Sarah, they just got married, right? They have a daughter, Fiona. They had their whole lives in front of them. It’s not better.

[knock on door] – Fiona, it’s Maggie. Fiona, are you in there?

Fiona, it’s Maggie and Victoria. Are you there?

She can’t see me here.

Well, hide, and take the vodka too.

[tense music]

Maggie.

Oh, good. I was starting to think you had gone out.

No, I’m sorry. I was just resting.

Well, I hope you’re well rested, um, because you’re on grandma duty.

Oh, grandma duty?

Uh, I mean, a-assuming that is okay with you. I need for you to watch Victoria for a while. I’m heading back to the hospital to visit Sarah.

Yes. Of course. Any change in her condition?

Um, no. No news to report, as far as I know. Sarah’s, um– she’s trying to be brave and stoic. I can only imagine how terrified she must be feeling thinking about her future, that she may not be able to walk.

Please tell me that you see something that Kayla and I missed, like a miraculous and speedy path to recovery from spinal cord ischemia.

Sorry. But like Dr. Johnson, I’m optimistic that if anyone can come back from this, it’s you, Sarah.

And I totally agree with that. But I should get going.

Okay. I love you.

I love you, too. Bye, Aunt Sarah. I’ll visit soon.

Okay. Thank you for coming.

And I’ll bring you more donuts.

Yes, please.

[chuckles] Bye, Dr. Greene.

Good to see you again, Holly. Oh, and if you happen to connect with Aaron before I do, tell him to, uh, ask the camp photographer to meet the real Tate Black.

Will do.

[tense music]

[door closes]

Put your clothes back on.

What’s the matter? You don’t think I look good like this?

That’s not the point.

I think it kind of is.

No. Look, okay, if– if you’re not gonna leave, then one of us should put our clothes on.

Why bother?

Sophia, can you stop? I don’t want this.

Why not? I won’t tell if you won’t.

Okay, I don’t want to pressure you, but is there anything else you can remember?

Um, I–

[sighs] I don’t think so. I–my memory just came in like a flash, and then it just disappeared. And I–

Okay.

I’m sorry. You’re disappointed, I know.

No, no, no. No, no, no, no, I’m not. I’m not disappointed. Are you kidding me? This is–this is– this is a hu– this is a huge first step, yeah? If you’re able to remember the most terrifying moment of your life, it’s only gonna be a matter of time before you start remembering all the good times that we shared together.

You really think so?

Yes, I do. And believe me, you and I, we shared a lot of good times together.

Ooh.

[chuckles]

We did.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I am putting too much pressure on you, I think. Don’t you?

No, no.

No, I am, I am. And I’m–I’m– I’m–I am really sorry. I’m just– you know, I get a little– a little impatient.

I know. I get it.

You want to spend the day together? I’ll have the chef make us some breakfast, and then– and then we can go take a ride to the lake or something.

[soft dramatic music]

Agh, that sounds lovely. I just– I think what I need is a little time alone to process what just happened.

Okay, yeah. That’s not a problem. Here I’m talking about putting too much pressure on you, and then I just– I go ahead and ramp it up. So yeah. Way to go, Chad.

It makes me feel hopeful to see the hope on your face. I just want to go for a walk around town.

But you don’t even really know where you’re going.

[chuckles] I have a GPS on my phone. I’ll be fine.

Okay. Where you gonna go?

[sighs] I think I’ll go to that cute little park you showed me when you brought me to Salem. Maybe it’ll help jog some memories.

You know, it’s so strange. After everything that Sarah’s gone through, I thought that this was finally her time, that she was gonna be happy and settled. And then out of the blue, this random person just takes it all away from her and–and leaves her there and then just–just– just flees like a coward.

That’s awful. That’s just awful.

Yeah.

[sighs] And you must be anxious to get back to the hospital.

Yeah, I am. And–and thank you again for watching Victoria.

No, it’s my pleasure.

Well, I appreciate it. And I know I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating. I’m so happy that Sarah tracked you down. I know it’s a blessing for Xander to have his mother here, especially given what he’s dealing with now.

Well, we’re all in this together, right?

We are.

Give Sarah my love. I’ll be sending good thoughts.

Yeah. And send good thoughts that they find the driver too.

[tense music]

Well, that was excruciating, hearing how Maggie is suffering about her daughter, and because I’m most likely the– the cause of all the pain to begin with–

Brady.

I know, I know, I know.

For the last time–

I–I know. We can’t say for sure that I am.

No, we cannot. So just– let’s stay the course, okay?

Okay. Are you up– are you up for babysitting? You sure?

Yeah, of course. It’ll do me some good to spend some time with this gorgeous little creature.

I’ll let you to it.

And, Brady, it’s gonna be okay.

[door closes]

Oh, hello.

Hi, baby. Uh, this is Dr. Mark Greene. Mark, this is my husband, Xander.

Nice to meet you.

Same. Uh, I assume you guys work together.

Uh, we do. Yeah, but Sarah’s not just a colleague. She is also my friend, which is why I’m taking a personal interest in her case.

Well, I’m very glad to hear that.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call. Sarah has my number.

I appreciate it. Cheers.

Bye, Mark. Ooh, these are beautiful.

As are you, my love.

Oh, yes, I’m sure I look wonderful right now.

You’re always perfect to me. Dr. Greene brought you donuts?

No. Holly brought me donuts. She was here earlier.

That was nice of her to come visit, wasn’t it?

Mm, it was. She was actually giving you props for being protective of me.

She was?

Mm-hmm. She said that she would do the same thing for the person she loves, which I assume is Tate Black.

Oh, she’s still pining after him?

Yeah. Well, with Nicole gone, maybe they’ll get to spend some time together when he gets back from camp.

Right, but you don’t really think that’s a good idea, do you?

I don’t know, they seem like they like each other, so…

The boy is Theresa’s son. I mean, if he even inherited…

[buzzes lips] Half of her miserable personality traits– not to mention Brady. He’s bad news. Give him a chance, and he’ll break her heart.

[tense music]

I don’t know why you’re resisting. I can tell you want this.

Sophia, please.

Please what? You know what they say. What happens on Smith Island stays on Smith Island.

Uh, literally no one has ever said that.

Fair, but how about this one? What Holly doesn’t know won’t hurt us.

Oh, you are so wrong about that.

Holly, I swear it’s not what it looks like.

Oh, really? So you didn’t just sneak up here all desperate, trying to make a play for my boyfriend?

You can’t exactly stake claim on a guy you haven’t even gotten past first base with.

Oh, my God, Sophia, whether Tate and I get off first base or he scores a touchdown is none of your damn business. You’re a lying skank.

Look, just because I’m sex-positive–

Get the hell out of here.

[tense music]

Fine. Screw this! Tate, try not to think too much about what you could have had.

Leave!

See ya!

Oh, and don’t be late for work.

[door slams]

So do you want to tell me what I just walked in on?

Holly can do a lot better than Theresa’s son, if you ask me.

Oh. And is that what people will say about Victoria?

As if I would ever let our precious princess date just anyone– or anyone, for that matter.

Oh, yes, sure. Just lock her in a tower. That’s a really good plan.

Okay, I won’t do that. But I’m not gonna let anyone or anything hurt that little girl or her mother ever again.

Well, now, that’s what I like to see.

[chuckling] Hi, Mom.

[laughs]

Maggie.

Hello. Oh, my darling, my darling, how are you feeling this morning?

I’m all right. Where’s Victoria?

I dropped her off with Fiona. Any news?

Oh, well, there’s nothing new medically, but there is an update on the investigation.

Did you find something out at the police station?

Well, I don’t want us to get ahead of ourselves, but–

Well, what is it? What is the news?

According to Commissioner Hunter, they do have a lead.

They–they think they know who hit me?

Not yet, but, uh, they do have a partial license plate. And right now, they’re in the process of tracking down possible matches in the area, so with any luck, soon they’ll be knocking on the door of the bastard that put you in this hospital bed.

[sighs]

[soft dramatic music]

– There, there, my darling.

[baby fussing] Your mummy will be home soon, safe and sound… if I can just keep Brady, with his bloody conscience, from ruining everything.

[tense music]

[knock on door]

[sighs]

[knock on door] Just a minute.

Commissioner, uh, what can I do for you?

I am investigating Sarah Horton Kiriakis’s hit-and-run, and I need to see your car.

It won’t be long. You’re finally coming back to me.

[dramatic music]

Don’t see you. Where the hell are you?

Relax. I’m right here.

Recap written by Suzanne

After Taylor and Brooke have left, Ridge and Brooke chat briefly about Hope kissing Finn. Brooke assures him that she’ll make sure that Hope knows she crossed the line. They start to kiss when RJ comes in to tell them that Bill isn’t Luna’s father after all. Katie comes in, so they fill her in on Bill not being Luna’s daughter. They rehash what has happened lately with Bill, Poppy and Luna. They all seem convinced that Poppy is guilty, except for RJ, who’s not sure. However, they all feel bad about Luna. RJ talks about how he’s concerned about Luna and mentions that she said she and Bill need each other, and she’s staying with him at his place, even though they’re not father and daughter. The others look curious, like this seems strange to them.

Bill tells Luna again that she can’t kiss him like that. Steffy, in the entryway, looks shocked to hear that Bill isn’t her father. Luna tells him that no one’s ever been so kind to her like this before. Steffy keeps listening in and shakes her head angrily. She can tell that Luna is manipulating Bill. Luna adjusts her makeup in the mirror, so then she sees Steffy there. She is stunned and looks unsure of what to do. Bill again sympathizes with what she’s going through and offers to get her psychiatric help. He tells her again that he’s there for her as a father. She leaves, saying she has “work stuff.” Steffy hides so Luna won’t see her. She sneaks out after Luna leaves, but she leaves her phone behind.

Steffy follows Luna to her apartment. Luna yells at herself for being so careless. Steffy comes in just then and tells Luna that she knows what she’s up to. Luna plays innocent, as usual. Steffy tells her that she knows she kissed Bill. She warns Luna to think about what she did and how wrong it was. Luna makes two glasses of iced tea and offers one to Steffy. Luna pretends to be mortified that she saw her kiss Bill. Steffy continues to try to find out why Luna would do this. Luna just watches while Steffy drinks the tea. Then she talks about how she and Bill share the common experience of what happened with her mom being in jail, and how they need each other, so she supposes that’s why she kissed him. Steffy doesn’t buy it and is surprised when Luna mentions that her mom might have killed the two guys at Il Giardino. Steffy stresses that she doesn’t seem like the Luna she knows. She realizes that Luna has risen fast from interning at Forrester to living at the Spencer Estate. Steffy figures out what Luna has been up to. Luna doesn’t say anything, so Steffy realizes that she’s right. Then she gets dizzy and passes out. Luna looks down at her in a creepy way and then sighs deeply.

Li visits Bill at his request. Bill tells her that Luna isn’t his daughter and that they took two more paternity tests. Li is shocked, but he asks her if she manipulated the original test results. Li denies it vehemently. Eventually, he believes her. He wonders who rigged the test. She’s not sure if Poppy did that or not, but she doesn’t believe that she’s a murderer. She thinks Poppy was framed. He wonders who would set up Poppy.

He decided to call Marlena so he could have an intervention. Abe and Kate talked about Leo’s script. She thought it was something the show needed. They talked about hiring hot young actors for the show. Hattie went to Leo’s place. She said she needed help rewriting her script. Hattie said she wasn’t Dr. Evans. Johnny talked to Chanel at the town square. He told her about his run in with Hattie. When he talked about the show, she said she wished she had an unpredictable job that ran itself. She said she wish pursued her dream even though she doesn’t know what it is. Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Chad joins Julie in the living room of the Horton house and talks about getting in to see the kids. Julie asks about Chad taking Jack and Jennifer to the airport. Chad confirms they are on their way back to Boston. Julie mentions that Doug told her the meeting between Jennifer and Abigail didn’t go very well which Chad confirms, calling it a complete disaster that went south the second Jennifer saw Abigail’s face and proclaimed that was not her daughter.

Abigail sits in the living room of the DiMera Mansion while on the phone, saying that Jack and Jennifer are heading back to Boston so she has one less problem to deal with and two less people breathing down her neck. EJ then enters the room and calls out to her.

Gabi is at the DiMera Enterprises office, on the phone complaining about a shipment being lost. Gabi argues that she will have no choice but to find another supplier. Stefan walks in as Gabi remarks that she’s sick and tired of being disappointed by people she thought she could trust.

Ava goes to the Brady Pub where Roman brings her coffee and guesses she had a long day. Roman talks about Ava having a demanding new job working for Kristen DiMera and imagines that Kristen is putting her through the paces, but Ava reveals that she got fired.

Melinda is unconscious on the couch as Connie returns home to her apartment. Connie jokes about Melinda not giving her cardboard cutout of Li any trouble. Connie then declares that Melinda is never going to give anyone any trouble ever again.

Julie questions Jennifer’s reaction to seeing Abigail. Chad calls it surprising since Jennifer knew about the DNA test results and never indicated she was skeptical. Chad adds that he doesn’t blame Jennifer since seeing Abigail with a new face and no memory of them at all is confusing and jarring. Chad says it’s just going to take time for all of them to process this woman being Abigail, but it’s undeniable now since the DNA test proved it’s her. Chad talks about how it will take Jennifer some time to get used to this new version of Abigail, so they thought it was best for her and Jack to go back to Boston. Julie understands that it will take time and put pressure on Abigail. Julie hopes that Abigail will be able to access her wonderful memories of the people who love her. Julie notes that they talked about Jennifer and Abigail, but haven’t said a word about Chad. Julie asks how it’s affecting Chad’s life and how he is doing.

EJ introduces Abigail as her brother in law. EJ talks about hearing of her return with no memory. Abigail mentions meeting Stefan this morning and how it was awkward. EJ says he’s sure it was for many reasons which she questions. EJ states that Chad may be good at hiding it but brings up that Abigail and Stefan slept together.

Gabi calls security to report an intruder in her office but then says it won’t be necessary because he’s no threat and she can handle him. Gabi asks Stefan what the hell he’s doing here. Stefan says he came to see her because they have to talk.

Connie brought large trash bags, rope, a hacksaw, and bleach. Connie remarks that the hardware store had everything she needs to get rid of a body and dispose incriminating evidence. Connie decides that she better get busy. Melinda then moves, startling Connie who exclaims that she’s still alive.

Julie tells Chad that she shares his concern for Jennifer, Abigail, and the whole family but her main concern is him because he lost his wife in such a violent way and all this time later, she appears but doesn’t look the same and has no memory. Julie asks Chad how he’s going to tell Thomas and Charlotte that their mother has returned by they won’t recognize her and she may never get her memory back. Chad admits putting it like that makes him want to crawl in a hole. Julie encourages Chad but asks how he’s keeping it together. Chad feels he has no choice but to be strong for his kids and for Abigail because if he’s uncertain or falling apart, it will just make things more difficult. Julie applauds his strength and admires his unselfishness, adding that he can count on her. Julie declares that she will always be there for him, his children, and Abigail as they hug.

Abigail questions EJ about her sleeping with Stefan. EJ asks if no one thought to mention that to her. Abigail questions if she cheated on Chad with his brother. EJ calls it slightly more complicated since Stefan took advantage of a rather unique situation which is no surprise, since he tends to make very bad decisions and he’s an idiot. EJ adds that everything that happened was entirely Stefan’s fault. Abigail guesses they don’t get along. EJ confirms that Stefan and his wife are not his favorite people and that feeling is entirely mutual.

Gabi tells Stefan they have nothing to talk about. Stefan questions that being it like nothing happened. Gabi complains that her entire world imploded because the man she was crazy in love with was actually a lying dirtbag. Gabi mentions visiting her comatose brother to tell him all about how her husband cheated on her while she was behind bars. Stefan admits that what he did was beyond stupid and the biggest mistake of his entire life. Stefan asks how they can work past it if they can’t even talk about it. Gabi questions him actually thinking they can move past it. Gabi tells Stefan that his little fling with Ava will be on her brain forever so it will never be forgotten or forgiven.

Roman questions Ava as to why Kristen would fire her when she just started. Ava explains that it was more about the personalities in the office. Roman thought Ava and Kristen were friends. Ava says she thought so too, but it was more Gabi’s doing as she threatened to pull Gabi Chic from DiMera if Kristen didn’t get rid of her. Roman questions why Gabi did that and if she just doesn’t want to work with her. Ava calls that an understatement. Roman asks if it’s because of Ava’s history with Rafe. Ava says no and that it has to do with her history with Stefan.

Connie acknowledges that Melinda has a pulse and is still breathing, complaining that it makes no sense since she gave her the same dose that she gave Bobby/Everett and he’s dead, so she questions why it didn’t kill Melinda too. Connie guesses she didn’t drink all of her tea. Connie decides it doesn’t matter and that she will have to finish her off. Connie declares that she can’t give her more tea, so it would be easier to just slit her throat as she picks up her hacksaw. Connie’s vision of Li then appears and tells her not to kill Melinda.

Julie tells Chad that she has enormous faith in him and encourages that they will all get through it. Chad respond that what scares him most is what if Abigail gets her memory back but doesn’t feel the same way and doesn’t love him anymore. Julie urges him not to go down that road. Julie insists that Abigail will get her memory back and she will fall in love with Chad all over again.

Abigail goes over with EJ that Stefan and Gabi kicked him out of his company, so he let Gabi go to a prison for a crime she didn’t commit. EJ clarifies that he didn’t know Gabi was innocent since all the evidence suggested he was guilty. Abigail remarks that it sounds like he’s the idiot brother. EJ laughs and supposes he deserved that. EJ adds that Abigail didn’t always have such a low opinion of him. Abigail laughs and asks if she slept with him too but then realizes that’s not a joke.

Ava informs Roman that she slept with Stefan while they were wasted and going through tough times. Ava talks about being under a lot of pressure while Clyde was threatening Tripp and having her and Stefan run drugs through the Bistro while Harris kept finding them together and getting suspicious, so she felt the only choice was to lie to Harris and tell him that she was dating Stefan. Roman guesses they got a little carried away with the deception. Ava says that’s one way to put it. Ava admits she was lonely and missing Harris while Stefan was missing Gabi. Ava guesses the lie they had been telling became a little too close to the truth, but as soon as it was over they both regretted it, realized it was a huge mistake, and vowed to never do it again. Ava says they both decided no one else needed to know and swore to take it to their graves.

Stefan realizes that he and Gabi may not ever totally get past this and that it’s not something she will forget, but he hoped that he could get her to understand that he never stopped loving her or missing her every day they were apart. Stefan calls Gabi the love of his life and says he was in a terrible place when he was unfaithful to her. Stefan declares that Gabi is the only person in the world that he wants to be with and the only person he cares about. Stefan knows he hurt her and wishes he could go back in time to take back that awful mistake but he can’t. Stefan wants to make it up to Gabi and pleads with her to come home with him so they can start to work this out. Gabi then tells Stefan that she will come home which makes him smile.

Roman asks Ava how Gabi felt out. Ava informs him that her assistant Connie told her. Roman then asks how Connie heard about it. Ava explains that she was eavesdropping on her and Kristen which was a definite blunder on her part. Ava says she didn’t expect Connie to hear her and rat her out. Ava complains that Connie is a total fraud as Melinda found out she lied on her entire resume. Roman guesses timing is everything. Ava declares that maybe the last laugh will be on Connie because Melinda just went to her apartment to fire her ass.

Connie’s vision of Li argues that she doesn’t want to kill Melinda and that she wants to make amends for what’s already happened. He asks if she really wants another death on her conscience. Connie argues that what happened to Bobby was not her fault. He encourages that Rafe could still recover and go on to lead a happy life, so Melinda can too. Connie worries that Melinda would expose her and make her sound like a low life criminal, asking what she’s supposed to do then. Her vision of Li tells her that she will have to face the consequences because sooner or later, she’s going to have to own up to what she did. He points out that Melinda hasn’t done anything to her yet, urging her to do the right thing and that Melinda doesn’t deserve this. Connie questions why he cares so much then asks if he’s in love with Melinda.

EJ tells Abigail not to be alarmed as what happened between them was many moons ago and she wasn’t married to Chad then. Abigail worries that she was a homewrecker. EJ says he wouldn’t put it that way. EJ assures that it was entirely on him. Abigail complains that she slept with two of Chad’s brothers and asks if there are any other brothers. Chad then walks in and sees that Abigail has met EJ. Abigail responds that he’s been quite helpful in her finding out some things which Chad questions. Abigail informs him that she learned she slept with Stefan and EJ. EJ apologizes to Chad and says it just came up.

Stefan breathes a sigh of relief after Gabi agrees to come home with him. Stefan assures that he’s not making any assumptions and is just grateful that she’s willing to talk this out. Stefan adds that maybe further down the road, she can find it in her heart to forgive him. Stefan talks about Gabi being grateful when people forgave her in the past because they are all just a work in progress, trying to be their best and learn from mistakes. Gabi then asks if he’s done pontificating, arguing that he was just spouting cliches and boring the hell out of her. Gabi declares she had no intention of putting this behind her. Stefan thought she said she was coming home with him. Gabi asks if he doesn’t know her at all. Gabi then informs him that she will come home, to pack her things as she then exits the office, leaving Stefan distraught.

Chad questions what EJ said to Abigail. Abigail calls it nothing important but apparently she’s the family slut. Abigail then heads upstairs. Chad asks EJ what he told her and shoves him, asking if he’s stupid. EJ says he’s truly sorry but asks how he was supposed to know that Chad didn’t fill her in on her past life. Chad argues that they thought she was dead for two years and that EJ decided to tell her about her sexual history the first chance he gets. EJ admits maybe the timing wasn’t perfect but says it was bound to come out eventually. Chad then turns and walks out of the room.

Roman asks Ava if this incident with Stefan was why she and Harris broke up, then decides it’s none of his business. Ava assures him that it’s fine and admits it’s kind of good to talk about it. Ava informs Roman that Harris was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, but there were so many terrible things she did while they were together, that this was just a drop in the bucket. Ava tells Roman to go ahead and says he knew it. Roman says he won’t say that and appreciates her being this open with him about this. Ava says that’s because she trusts him as he’s obviously a stand up guy with a very good heart. Ava adds that maybe it would be more of his sister Kayla’s reaction to say I knew it, since basically everything she told him confirms everything that Kayla already thought about her.

Connie questions her vision of Li never getting over Melinda but he says that’s not true and that he cares about Connie, encouraging that she can be capable of kindness and compassion. Connie questions what to do with Melinda if she doesn’t kill her, arguing that she knows too much since she practically told her all of her plans before she passed out, so she will tell the cops and Gabi. Her vision of Li declares that he has an idea.

EJ has a drink in the living room as Gabi storms in with Stefan following her. Stefan tries to talk to her but Gabi yells at him. EJ excitedly assumes there’s trouble in paradise. Gabi informs EJ that Stefan slept with Ava while she was in prison. EJ laughs as Stefan repeats it meant nothing. Gabi shoves Stefan and calls him a jackass, saying it meant something to her. Stefan asks Gabi if they can sit down and talk this through but Gabi refuses. Gabi announces she’s not spending another minute more than she has to in the DiMera Mansion and that she’s packing her stuff and leaving.

Chad goes to see Abigail in their old bedroom and asks if she’s okay. Abigail says it’s just a lot to process to hear terrible things about yourself. Chad tells her that most of the stuff about her isn’t terrible, but pretty wonderful. Abigail brings up sleeping with two of his brothers. Chad calls it water under the bridge. Chad tells Abigail that she doesn’t have to stay in this room since the guest room is made up but she tells him that she decided she wants to stay in this room. Chad says that’s okay if that’s what she wants. Abigail suggests perhaps it could help bring back memories of them and she could start being the Abigail that he remembers.

Roman tells Ava that he can’t speak for Kayla and supposes she has her own reasons for feeling how she does about her, but he’s more about forgiveness as they all make mistakes. Roman says he’s made more than his share. Ava appreciates that more than he knows, but she’s afraid Gabi doesn’t feel the same way.

EJ mocks being so sorry to Gabi that her husband cheated on her and says it couldn’t have happened to a nicer person. Stefan tells EJ to shut the hell up. EJ tells Gabi to make sure she gathers all of her things because as soon as she leaves, he will be making sure that Harold changes the locks. Stefan yells at EJ to get lost. EJ says he’s just making sure they have home safety measures because they don’t want gold diggers and ex-cons coming in. Stefan yells at EJ to get the hell out but EJ declares that he is staying right here. EJ happily remarks that it’s Gabi who is getting the hell out of here. Gabi then responds that on second thought, she’s not going anywhere and is staying right here.

Melinda wakes up tied to a bed. Connie tells Melinda not to worry because she and Li are going to take good care of her.

Johnny told her about a character for the soap opera Body & Soul. He thought she would be perfect for the part. She said that she didn’t have any acting experience. Working with romantic partners didn’t work for her in the past. He tried to convince her that it would be a great way for them to spend time together. Abe had a similar conversation with Alex about appearing on the soap. Alex didn’t think Johnny and Chanel would go for the idea. Abe was prepared to handle Johnny and Chanel. Alex agreed to audition. Paulina went to see Jada and saw her watching footage from Sarah’s accident. Jada wasn’t confident they would find the driver. She received deleted footage Sexton’s department store from the night of Sarah’s accident.

Sarah woke up with Maggie by her side. They started crying as Maggie told her it would take a village to get through that. Sarah was glad that Fiona was there to help too. She knew it would be work, but she planned to get back to her old self no matter how long it took. If it’s not in the cards, she would live a complete life. A hit-and-run driver wouldn’t deprive her of living her life. Brady inspected his car. He noticed scraped paint on the bumper. He remembered squealing tires. Brady wasn’t sure what he did. She spent some time with Sarah, and Maggie took her home. Sarah winced when Kayla came in with her test results. Friona arrived at the townhouse. Brady remembered hearing screeching tires. He remembered Sarah being hit by a gray car. Brady was afraid he was the one who did it. Fiona dismissed his concerns about the car. She told him that Sarah didn’t see the driver and couldn’t remember what happened. Brady thought he caused the accident. Fiona told him the doctors were hopeful for Sarah. She tried to downplay the numbness in Sarah’s legs. He wanted to turn himself in to the police. Jada continued to investigate the footage of the accident. She let Paulina know that she broke the case open. There was partial footage of a license plate. Brady took Fiona to the garage. He saw that the car was gone. Kayla told Sarah that she had a stroke in her spinal cord. Sarah told Xander that her problem is probably irreversible and that she might never regain sensation in her legs.

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Steve came in Kayla’s office when she told someone to rush on Sarah’s results. Kayla told him Sarah didn’t have feeling in her legs. After they talked about Sarah, Kayla told him about Abby. She said Abby’s memory loss could be a psychological issue which made it hard to know when her memory would return. At the DiMera mansion, Jennifer couldn’t wait to see Abby. Chad let Jennifer know that Abby didn’t look like herself or remember who they were. Jennifer said she would take her daughter any way she could. Chad left to find out what was taking Abby so long. Abby told someone on the phone that the plan was going according to plan. She told the person she had to go because she was nervous. When Chad knocked on the door, Abby got off the phone. She told him she was on the phone with a nurse from Poplar Bluff. Chad said her parents were downstairs waiting to see her. He confronted her about being nervous and assured her she had no reason to be nervous. She thanked him for being patient with her. Chad let her know he would wait for as long as she needed him to. After Melinda fired Connie, she demanded to go in her apartment to get the laptop and phone. Connie asked if she could have a minute and closed the door. She told the cardboard Li that she didn’t know how to get revenge on Gabi and Stefan if she wasn’t working for Gabi. When Melinda knocked on the door, Connie thought of an idea. When Connie let Melinda in the apartment, she admitted that she lied on her resume because she was desperate for a job. She wanted to tell her side of the story.

Gabi told Stefan and Ava that she knew they slept together. She said Connie overheard Ava talking to Kristen about it. Stefan and Ava said Connie was mistaken. Gabi said it was possible that Connie was mistaken, but Kristen had to be too. She threw her drink in Stefan’s face and told Ava she was out of a job. Gabi said she made Kristen choose between the two and she chose her. Ava walked away. Gabi yelled at Stefan. Abby went down to see Jennifer and Jack. When Jennifer tried to touch Abby, she drew her hand back and said she wasn’t her daughter. Jack and Chad reminded her that the DNA test results proved she was. Jennifer apologized for her behavior and thought she was ready for this. She said she thought she would feel a connection but she didn’t. Jennifer ran out of the room. Abby went upstairs. Chad told Jack they had to do damage control before they drove Abby away for good. When Jennifer came back, she apologized for running away the way she did. Jack told her they should go back to Boston until Abby’s memory came back. Jennifer hesitated at first, but agreed Abby needed room to find herself. Jack said when Abby was ready, she would come to them. Connie told Melinda she had to work for Gabi. Melinda thought she was a fan of hers until Connie said she hated her. Connie told her about her vendetta against Stefan and Gabi breaking Li’s heart kept her from being with him. While Melinda was drinking her tea, she started gasping. Connie told her she put a fast-acting drug in her tea. Melinda tried to find her phone. Stefan told Gabi that he was drunk and missing her. Gabi said she was beat up in prison and put in solitary while he was having sex with Ava. He said it was only one time. Stefan said he hated himself more than she hated him. If she was willing to let him, he would spend the rest of his life making it up to her. Gabi said she didn’t care how bad he felt because it didn’t change what he did. He begged her to talk to him, but she refused to do it. She said their marriage was over.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Hi, Julie.

Oh, darling, I didn’t hear you come in. What time’d you get here?

Oh, I got back a little while ago. I just–I went straight up to see the kids. I wanted to spend some time with them, kiss them good night.

Good.

Yeah.

They were looking forward to Daddy’s kiss.

[chuckles]

Hmm.

So you took Jack and Jennifer to the airport.

Yeah. They are on their way back to Boston as we speak.

Doug told me about that. He also said this meeting between Jennifer and Abigail didn’t go very well.

Mm. No, it wasn’t a great reunion, to put it mildly.

Awkward. It was awkward.

No, it wasn’t just awkward. It was a complete disaster. Yeah, it went south the second Jennifer saw Abigail’s face and proclaimed, that is not my daughter.

[dramatic music]

Yeah, Jack and Jennifer Deveraux headed back to Boston, so I have one less problem to deal with and two less family members breathing down my neck.

Abigail?

You cannot be serious. A shipment was lost in the warehouse?

[scoffs] I don’t want to hear it. We need those pillow covers for the spring line, so if you can’t send a replacement in the next hours, I will have no choice but to find another supplier. That is not true. I am very loyal.

[scoffs]

I’m just sick and tired of being disappointed by people that I actually thought I could trust.

[sighs]

[groans]

[light music]

Long day, huh?

Hmm. Yeah, you could say that.

Well, you do have a very demanding job now, right? I can imagine working for Kristen DiMera can be pretty stressful, to say the least. I’m sure she’s putting you through the paces.

Not anymore. I got fired.

[suspenseful music]

Hey there. Hope she didn’t give you any trouble while I was out.

[laughs] Of course she didn’t. Stupid question.

No, poor Melinda, she’s never going to give anyone any trouble ever again, is she?

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

Jennifer took one look at Abigail and said, not my daughter?

Which is surprising because Jennifer knew about the DNA test results and never gave any indication that she was in any way skeptical. And I don’t blame Jennifer. I mean, you know, when you– when you–when you see her, when you see Abigail with a new face and so different and she doesn’t have any memory of us at all, I mean, it’s– it’s–it’s confusing and it’s–and it’s– and it’s jarring.

Of course it is, darling.

It’s just– you know, it’s just gonna take time for all of us to process… this woman being Abigail. But it’s undeniable now, right? The DNA test proves it. It’s her.

Proved it, thank God– proved it, so no more uncertainty for us, uncertainty for you, ’cause you were having a terrible time with that. I mean, you had a terrible time.

Yeah, well… I mean, even with the– with the certainty of the test results, it’s gonna take Jennifer some time.

[dramatic music] I don’t know how much, but it’s gonna take her some time to get used to this new version of Abby. So we just thought it was best for she and Jack to go back to Boston.

Right, right.

For Abby’s sake, obviously, too.

Of course it’ll take time. She has to be reintroduced to her old life. And it puts pressure on her to have people standing around watching. So maybe it is right. Fewer people, she’ll have a chance to–

To access her wonderful memories of you and the children and all of us…

The people who love her.

[sighs] OK, we’ve talked about Jennifer. We’ve talked about Abigail. We’ve talked about all the problems they’re gonna be going through right now. And we haven’t said a word about Chad DiMera.

Hmm.

How is this affecting your life? How are you doing?

I have to go. Bye.

It is you, isn’t it, Abigail?

So they tell me.

[both chuckle] And you are?

Your brother-in-law.

Oh, I thought I met my brother-in-law already.

Ah, that must have been Stefan. I’m EJ DiMera.

That’s right. I did hear that Chad had another brother roaming around this house.

Mm-hmm, and that would be me.

Well, nice to meet you.

Same here. And just so you know, I’ve… heard all about you, that you’d returned but with no memory.

Yeah, and a brand-new face…

[both chuckle] Which completely freaked out your brother Stefan.

Ah, and when did you meet him?

This morning. Chad introduced us. It was awkward, to say the least.

Oh, I’m sure it was, for many reasons.

[tense music]

Many reasons?

Well, Chad may be good at hiding it. But he never really got over the fact that you and Stefan slept together.

I’ll expect the tracking number within the hour. Security? I’d like to report an intruder in my office.

Gabi, please.

No, that won’t be necessary after all.

This guy is no threat. I can handle it.

What the hell are you doing here?

I came to see you, obviously.

Well, now you’ve seen me. So if that’s all–

No, that’s not all.

[sighs] We have to talk.

Large plastic trash bags. Check. Rope. Check. Hacksaw, lye, bleach. Check, check, and check.

[chuckles] It’s so convenient the hardware store has everything you need to dispose of a body– one-stop shopping. And these true-crime shows that I watch, they’re practically a step-by-step how-to guide on how to dispose of incriminating evidence.

All right, I better get busy. That body’s not gonna get rid of itself.

[moans]

[gasps] Oh, my God, Li. She’s still alive.

Well… I share your concern for Abigail, Jennifer, Jack, the whole family. But my main concern is you, ’cause you lost your wife in such a… violent way. And then all this time has gone by, and she reappears. And you tell me she doesn’t look the same and has no memory of any of it, of any of us. What are you gonna do? How are you gonna tell Thomas and Charlotte, your mother’s returned, but you won’t recognize her? And worse… Abigail may never get her memory back.

Well, yeah, when you put it like that, it makes you want to crawl in a hole.

No, no, no, no, no. It’s a lot. But you, Chad, have always been able to… throw all these plates in the air, you know, like Cirque du Soleil.

[both chuckle]

[clapping] Seriously, how are you keeping it together?

[dramatic music]

I’m keeping it together.

What other choice do I have?

I have to be strong for my kids… and for Abby. If she sees me uncertain or falling apart, then that’s just gonna make things more difficult. And that’s the last thing I want, so… keep it together.

[clapping] I applaud your strength. I admire your unselfishness. And if you see any of those plates beginning to slip to the floor, you can count on me.

[laughs] Yeah, I will… as the master of the balancing act.

Oh, my God. I’m glad you think so.

[laughs]

[sighs] Chad, I will always be there for you and for your children and now for Abigail.

So I slept with Stefan?

Oh, dear, had no one thought to mention that to you?

No, no one did.

Huh.

You’re telling me I cheated on Chad with his brother?

Well, it’s slightly more complicated than that. Stefan took advantage of a rather unique situation, which is no surprise, since my brother tends to make very, very bad decisions and he’s an idiot. Suffice it to say that everything that happened between you and Stefan was entirely his fault, so…

I take it you and Stefan don’t exactly get along.

Let’s just say that he and his wife are not my favorite people and the feeling is entirely mutual.

We have nothing to talk about.

So that’s it. You just fly off the handle, storm out of the Bistro, and return to work like nothing happened?

Like nothing happened?

[tense music] I stormed out of the Bistro like plenty had happened, like my entire world had imploded, like the man that I was crazy in love with, who I thought loved me back, was actually a lying dirtbag.

[scoffs] And not that it’s any of your business, but I didn’t just go back to work. I went to go visit my comatose brother. And I told him all about how my husband cheated on me while I was behind bars.

[sighs]

Gabi…

[sniffles]

What I did was colossally stupid. It was beyond stupid. It was the biggest mistake of my entire life.

How can we expect to work past it if we can’t even talk about it?

Oh, my God. You actually think we can move past this?

No, think again. There is no moving past this. Your little fling with Ava Vitali will be emblazoned on my brain forever.

This will never be forgotten or forgiven.

[scoffs] Why would Kristen fire you? You just started the job. I can’t imagine you’ve been there long enough to screw up that badly.

I’ll try not to take that as an insult.

OK, that did not come out right. It came out wrong. I am sorry about that.

[chuckles] It’s fine, really. Anyway, it wasn’t something that I did. It was more about the… personalities in the office.

Really?

Yeah.

I thought you and Kristen were friends.

Yeah, so did I. But really, it was more Gabi’s doing. She threatened to pull Gabi Chic from DiMera if Kristen didn’t get rid of me.

Why did Gabi do that? I mean, what, I mean, she just– just didn’t want to work with you or what?

That’s a bit of an understatement.

OK, I see. Does this have something to do with your history with her brother?

Nope. It’s because of my history with her husband. – I think she’s got a pulse, Li.

[suspenseful music] Yeah, she’s breathing too. That makes no sense. I gave her the same dose that I gave Bobby Stein. Or was it Everett Lynch? I think it was Bobby Stein. Whatever. He’s dead, whoever he was. So why didn’t it kill Melinda too?

Maybe she didn’t finish all her tea. Well, that must be it.

Well, I guess it doesn’t really matter.

I’ll have to finish her off.

[suspenseful music]

I can’t exactly give her more tea.

Yeah, it’ll be simpler just to slit her throat. Right, Li?

Don’t do it. Put down the hacksaw, Connie. Don’t kill her.

You know, I don’t doubt that you could juggle quite a few plates, probably a few elephants, and several bicycles as well too.

Sure.

Yeah.

Yeah, ’cause I never told you how I ran away to the circus, how I learned all their tricks, how fantastic I looked in tights.

Oh, I bet you did.

[laughs]

[dramatic music]

I have enormous faith in you. I really do. You’re gonna get through it. We’re all gonna get through it.

What are you thinking?

[sighs] That the thing that scares me the most…

Isn’t, what if she doesn’t get her memory back? It’s, what if she does and she doesn’t feel the same way about me? What if she doesn’t love me anymore, Julie?

Don’t go down that road.

No. You need to borrow some Horton optimism. Abigail will get her memory back. May take a long time, but she will. And when she does, boy, she’s gonna fall in love with you all over again. I’m sure of it.

So because Stefan and his wife– what is her name, Gabi?

Mm-hmm.

Because they kicked you out of your company, you let Gabi go to prison for a crime she didn’t commit?

To be fair, I didn’t know that she was innocent, not at the time. In fact, all the evidence suggested that she was guilty.

Wow, seems to me like you’re the idiot brother.

[chuckles]

Yeah, I suppose I deserve that. But, you know, you didn’t always have such a low opinion of me.

Oh. Oh, no, no, no, wait, wait, wait. Let me guess. Did I sleep with you too?

[both laugh] Oh, my God, I was joking.

Yes, I know… except–

Except it wasn’t a joke.

[light music]

So you slept with Stefan?

I didn’t plan it. Look, he didn’t either. We were wasted. And it’s just–

[sighs] God, we were both going through a tough time, and it–

[groans] It was one– just one moment of weakness.

Just one?

Yes, just one. And it wouldn’t have even been that once, except–

[sighs] Like I said, it was a tough time.

Look, I was under a lot of pressure. Clyde was threatening Tripp. He was having Stefan and I run drugs through the Bistro. I couldn’t tell Harris. And then Harris, he just– he kept finding me and Stefan together, and he started getting suspicious.

Finally, it just seemed like the only choice was…to lie.

So we told Harris that we were dating.

And then you got a little carried away with the deception.

Hmm. Yeah, I guess that’s one way to put it.

Look, I was lonely. I was missing Harris, and Stefan was missing Gabi, and…

The night it happened, I guess the lie we had been telling just became a little too close to the truth.

Oh, but, Roman, Roman, as soon as it was over, we both regretted it, both of us. And we realized it was a huge mistake. And we vowed that we would never do it again. And we agreed. We agreed it would just stay between us. No one else needed to know. In fact, we swore we would take it to our graves.

OK, look, I realize that we may never totally get past this. Yes, I know this is not something that you are going to forget. But all I meant when I said I wanted to talk was that hopefully I can get you to understand that I never stopped loving you, that I never stopped missing you every moment of every day that we were apart.

[dramatic music]

You are the love of my life.

[sighs] And I was in a terrible place when I was unfaithful to you…

Not to mention… completely wasted.

Gabi, you are the one person on this planet that I want to be with. You are the only person I care about in this life.

And I know I hurt you. I know I did. And I would give anything to go back in time and take back that stupid, awful mistake, but I can’t.

I can’t do that.

But I can start now by making it up to you. So, please, come home with me. Please come home, and we can just start to work this out.

All right. I’ll come home.

[sighs]

OK, so if you and Stefan agreed never to tell anybody that this happened, how did Gabi find out?

Her assistant told her– Connie Vininski. She’s a real whack job who worships the ground that Gabi walks on.

OK, well, how did this Connie person hear about it?

[light music]

Well… look, she was eavesdropping on me when I was talking to Kristen about it, OK? And it was a definite blunder on my part. I am aware of that. But it’s not like I expected Gabi’s faithful little lapdog to hear me and then rat me out. You know, like she’s one to judge. The woman’s a total fraud.

How so?

Well, Melinda Trask found out that she lied and invented her entire résumé.

If she could just have found out a few days earlier before this whole debacle.

Well, you know what they say: timing is everything.

Ain’t that the truth?

But maybe the last laugh will be on Connie, because Melinda just went to her apartment to fire her ass.

You don’t want to do this, Connie. You really don’t.

That’s where you’re wrong. And hey, I thought I already did it.

But you didn’t. And I know you. I know you’d like to make amends for what’s already happened. Come on, Connie, do you really want another death on your conscience?

I told you what happened with Bobby wasn’t my fault.

Of course it wasn’t. But this will be. Bobby may be dead, but Rafe is still alive. Not all of your actions are irreversible is what I’m saying. Rafe could still come out of his coma and go on to lead a happy life, and so can Melinda.

Yeah, but she’s gonna expose me. And so I embellished a few tiny details on my résumé. So what? She’s going to make me sound like some kind of low-life criminal. What am I supposed to do then?

[tense music]

Well…

[sighs] You’re gonna have to face the consequences.

I know you don’t want to. No one ever does. But sooner or later, you’re gonna have to own up to what you did. And besides, Melinda hasn’t done anything to you. Not yet, anyway. So why not do the right thing, you know, for yourself and for Melinda?

Come on, you know she doesn’t deserve this.

Why the hell do you care so much about what happens to Melinda?

Oh, my God. Are you in love with her?

There’s no cause for alarm. What happened between you and me was many moons ago. And you weren’t married to Chad at the time.

And you? Were you single?

I was engaged.

Oh, great. So you’re telling me that I was a home-wrecker.

I wouldn’t put it that way. I was the one who cheated on my fiancé. This was entirely on me.

Still, I slept with two of my husband’s brothers. Sounds like I was pretty busy.

[sighs]

Are there any of Chad’s brothers that I didn’t sleep with?

Well, there’s Tony. And I’m quite sure nothing happened between the two of you.

Well, that’s a relief.

[sighs] Are there any other brothers that I should be aware of?

Well, there was Andre, but he’s deceased.

Oh, sorry to hear that. How did he die?

Hey, see you met my brother EJ.

[sighs] I have. And he’s been…very helpful. Learned a lot about myself.

Like what?

Like that I slept with two of your brothers, Stefan and EJ.

[dramatic music]

I’m sorry, Chad. It just–just came up.

You mean that? You’ll come home with me?

I will. Yes.

[sighs]

[sighs] Thank God.

And I’m not making any assumptions, believe me, OK? I’m just grateful that you’re willing to come home with me and talk this out. Maybe… further down the road, maybe you can find it in your heart to forgive me. Right? I mean, just like in the past, when you’ve done things that you regret, things that you’re not proud of, you’re always grateful when people forgive you and when they can look beneath the surface and see that inside there is a beautiful, beautiful human being…

That you’re just a work in progress, that we’re all– all of us are works in progress…

Constantly trying to be the best version of ourselves, trying to learn from our mistakes.

Are you done pontificating?

[tense music]

Pontificating? Gabi, I was just–

Spouting out clichés and boring the hell out of me.

And for the record, I have no intention of putting this behind me.

But I thought you said you were coming home with me.

Oh, Stefan, do you not know me at all?

Yes, I will come home…

To pack.

What did you say to her?

Nothing important, just that apparently I’m the family slut.

[clears throat]

Now, if you two will excuse me, I think I’m gonna go throw up.

[dramatic music]

What’d you tell her? What’d you tell her? Are you stupid?

I’m sorry, truly. But how was I supposed to know that you hadn’t given Abigail a primer about her life?

We thought she was dead for two years, and then I bring her back, and you decide to tell my traumatized wife about her past sexual experiences the first time you meet her?

Well, maybe the timing wasn’t perfect. But come on, it was bound to come out eventually.

So this incident with Stefan, is that the reason you and Harris broke up? You know what? Never mind. That is none of my business.

It’s fine. Really, it is.

[light music] It’s kind of–kind of good to talk about it, you know? Honestly, Harris was willing to give me the benefit of the doubt.

But truthfully, there were so many terrible things I did while we were together that this was basically just a drop in the bucket.

And if you’d like to say, “I knew it,” now would be a great time. Go right ahead.

Not gonna say that, Ava. In fact, I’m– I very much appreciate you being this open with me about this.

That’s because I trust you, Roman. I mean, who doesn’t? You are obviously a stand-up guy. And you’ve got a very good heart.

Yeah, maybe it’d be more of your sister Kayla’s reaction…

[laughs] You know, “Yeah, I knew it,” since basically everything I told you is confirming everything she already believes about me.

So that’s why you’re so concerned about what happens to Melinda. You never got over her after you two broke up.

That’s not true, Connie. I don’t care about Melinda.

[suspenseful music] I care about you. I know you’re a person that’s capable of kindness and deep compassion.

I am. And bless your kind heart for acknowledging that. But, Li, if I don’t kill the woman, what am I supposed to do with her? I can’t let her go. She knows too much. I practically told her all my plans before she passed out. She’ll tell the cops. Worse, she’ll tell Gabi.

[fingers snap]

I have an idea.

[sighs]

[groans]

[door slams]

Gabi, Gabi, please. Gabi, please, will you just listen to me?

Take your hands off me!

Ooh-hoo-hoo, should I assume that there’s trouble in paradise?

Oh, you bet there is. Your brother slept with Ava Vitali while I was in prison.

[gasps] Oh, my.

I told you a million times it meant nothing.

Well, it means something to me, you jackass.

Gabi, please, can we just sit down and talk this through?

Oh, I am not sitting down. I am not spending one more minute in this house than I absolutely have to. I am packing my stuff, and I am leaving.

[tense music]

[dramatic music]

[knock at door]

Come in.

Hey.

Hi.

You OK?

[sighs] I think so. It’s just a lot to process, hearing all those terrible things about yourself.

Well, for the record and if it’s any consolation, most of the stuff about you isn’t very terrible. Most of it’s… pretty–pretty wonderful.

Really?

[scoffs] Even after I slept with two of your brothers?

Well, no. Yes, it’s–it’s water under the bridge. You know, you don’t– you don’t– you don’t have to stay in this room. The guest room is made up.

Oh… I decided I want to stay in this room– if that’s OK, of course.

Yeah, sure, if that’s what you–if that’s what you want.

I do. You said this was our room. So I was thinking…

Perhaps it will help bring back my memories, especially the ones of us. Then I can maybe start to be the Abigail that you remember.

OK, I obviously can’t speak for Kayla.

Mm.

And I suppose she has her own reasons for feeling the way she does about you. But I, on the other hand, am more about forgiveness. We all make mistakes. And God knows I sure as hell have made more than my share.

Hmm. Well, I appreciate that, Roman, more than you know.

[light music] But I’m afraid that Gabi doesn’t feel the same way.

Oof, I am so, so sorry to hear that your husband cheated on you, but it couldn’t have happened to a nicer person.

EJ, shut the hell up.

And please make sure that you’ve gathered all of your things before you leave, because as soon as you do, I’ll be asking Harold to change the locks.

Get lost, damn it!

I’m just making sure that we have some home safety measures. We don’t want the gold diggers and the ex-cons coming in. Understand?

EJ, get the hell out of here.

I will not get the hell out of here. I am staying right here.

It’s Gabi who’s getting the hell out of here.

On second thought, you know what? I’m not going anywhere. I’m staying right here.

[sighs]

[suspenseful music]

[groans] What the–

[gasps]

Don’t worry, Melinda. I’m going to take good care of you. Li and I both are.
