Update written by Brenda

Driving in Monte Carlo, Ridge tells Brooke that she was incredible; the hit of the summit. She says Monte Carlo has always been good to them. He tells her Monte Carlo had nothing to do with it; it was all Brooke. They stop in front of the casino. Brooke says it was a magical trip and says “Au revoir, Monte Carlo.”

In Steffi’s office at Forrester, Carter, and Steffi discuss all the hits the website is still getting, amazed that Brookes Bedroom is still trending worldwide. Hope comes into the office, gloating about her mother’s popularity. She says it might be hard for Steffi to admit, but Brooke Logan is back and better than ever. Steffi tells Hope that the bedroom line has always been popular. Hope counters that it is soaring now that her mother is back in the spotlight. She tells Steffi to stop fighting the Logan influence and be grateful for it. Finn comes into the office and congratulates the group. He notices the uncomfortable vibe in the room.

Brooke and Ridge board the jet to return to Los Angeles. Ridge wonders if the Prince meant both of them when he told Brooke she is welcome any time. She says Monaco’s beauty and hospitality are incredible. Ridge suggests they stay a little longer, but Brooke thinks they should go home and work on Brooke’s Bedroom. Ridge is amazed by the number of orders they have received. Brooke wonders how Steffi is feeling about all of it.

In Steffi’s’ office, Carter says Katie is sending the social media statistics to the buyers. Steffi tells Carter to schedule a meeting with production to increase inventory. Finn has a celebration planned for Steffi. Carter and Hope encourage Steffi to go ahead and take off. Hope adds that her mom seems to have given everyone a reason to celebrate. Finn asks when Brooke is returning. Hope says Brooke is on her flight now. Steffi says she is sure Hope is excited to see her mom after this. Steffi says she gets it; it’s always good when Brooke is around. Steffi leaves to get some things from the design office and says she will meet Finn at the elevator. Finn tells Hope that she must be thrilled for her mother. Hope says she is proud; Brooke put herself out there and it paid off. Finn says that is what Logan’s are famous for. He says he is happy for her and leaves the office.

On the plane, Ridge and Brooke marvel at the ever-increasing numbers. Ridge tells Brooke that it is all her.

Carter returns to Steffi’s office and tells Hope that the relaunch could not have gone better. Hope says it’s everything Brooke and Ridge wanted and more. Carter says no one gets the world’s attention like Brooke Logan. He calls her a true fashion icon. Hope says she hopes Steffi realizes that too.

Steffi and Finn arrive home. Finn tells her that his mom has the kids for the night. Steffi says it sounds like a nice evening. They kiss.

Brooke and Ridge read the comments on the website. She feels silly for being so nervous about the photo shoot and credits Ridge for encouraging her to do it.

In Steffi’s office, Carter tells Hope it is great news for the company. Hope can’t get over it. Carter says he knows Hope has been stressed about work lately. He says he knows Steffi has been riding Hope a little but is stressed out too. She is carrying the family legacy, and it is up to her to ensure the company’s health well into the future. Hope counters that a leader can be strong without being cruel, pointing to him as an example. He says it isn’t his name on the building. He doesn’t think Steffi is being cruel but pragmatic. He tells her that her mother’s success is good for everyone. She says that’s what she has been saying. He agrees that she is right. He notes that the increased Web traffic will help all of the collections and has already boosted the bottom line, which will help everyone. Hope says that according to Steffi, Hope’s line is hanging by a thread. Carter hopes that Brooke’s Bedroom can give Hope for the Future a lifeline. He says he realizes there has been tension between Hope and Steffy. Hope is glad someone else sees it. She says she doesn’t like feeling like she is constantly under attack. She says she enjoys working at Forrester and she wants to contribute to its success, but it is difficult when she constantly feels like she is being undermined. She says she is trying to keep things from getting more complicated.

St Steffi and Finn’s house, Steffi relaxes on the sofa. Finn tells her dinner is ready. She says it sounds delicious but she doesn’t feel like moving. She just wants to sit there with Finn and listen to the sound of the ocean. He hopes she is feeling less stressed now. She says she has been feeling as though she has been fighting this battle alone, and she hopes that changes. He says he knows Brookes Bedroom relaunch brought up a lot of old resentments. She says she doesn’t want to deal with that energy or talk about the Forresters versus the Logans. He says he just wants her to know that he understands and will always be there for her.

On the jet, Ridge and Brooke continue discussing the success of the campaign. Ridge insists it is because Brooke is the face of it. She thanks him for presenting the opportunity for her to prove herself again. He says she is a part of his world that he never wants to let go.

Hope recalls a conversation with Steffi where Steffi asks her just how Hope is going to cut Steffi down to size. Hope then recalls a conversation with Finn when Finn compliments her and tells her that she deserves the best.

Hope and Finn are kissing on the sofa. Finn wants to take it to the bedroom, but Steffi doesn’t want to rush. She wants to make it last all night. She says the last few months have been stressful and that it is nice to take the time to stop and appreciate special moments like this one. She says she doesn’t need much. Just knowing that he is devoted to her is enough, and she will give him the same. He says she has made him the luckiest man in the world. He showers her with compliments. She says she is never going to let this go and adds that nothing is stronger than their love for each other. They kiss and cuddle on the couch.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[dramatic music]

[inhales sharply] [groans]

Ooh.

Good morning, sleepyhead.

Oh– oh, God. Xander’s mom.

[laughs]

And it really happened last night, didn’t it?

[suspenseful music]

Ooh, looks like someone is making himself at home.

Hello, you.

Hello, you. Does the very busy CEO have time for his once and future wife?

Mm, I’m sure I can squeeze you in.

Mm.

[gentle music]

[sighs] [phone rings] Tate? Hello. Tate, are you there? [sighs] Reception at the Horton cabin blows. Tate, can you hear me?

[clears throat]

Grandma!

[dramatic music]

All right. Here you are.

Well, Abe, who would have thought that producing episodes of daytime drama a year would be such hard work?

[chuckles] Well, we got a jump on casting. And I feel sure that our new Charlemagne is honing her craft as we speak.

[tense music]

OK, it says Charlemagne is on a one-way call.

What the heck is a one-way call? [clears throat]

“Into phone.” Oh, wait. I guess I’m not supposed to say that part out loud. Oh, come on, Hattie. Come on. Focus. Focus. [sighs] “Don’t worry, darling. “Everything is going according to plan. “All that’s left is for you to kill my husband, and then we can finally be together.”

Oh, my God!

[jazzy music] Marlena, are you planning to murder John?

Bonnie Lockhart, you are a sight for these old peepers.

My God, how could you? What is it, Marlena, gambling debts, a young lover, what?

Boy, you better get yourself some new peepers ’cause you know what? I’m not Marlena.

What do you mean you’re not Mar– [gasps] Oh, my God in heaven, it’s you.

It’s–yeah.

Satan! [gasps] You’ve possessed Marlena again! Oh, God!

Oh, for the love of pickled herring, girl. Come on, I’m not that shrink, and I’m not Satan. I’m your old pal Hattie Adams!

Oh! [laughing] Oh!

Mm, you know I’ve always got time for you.

Mm.

How did you know I was here?

I ran into Justin. So seems like you decided to stake your claim on Victor’s legacy after all.

[sighing] Yeah. And how do you feel about that?

I just want you to be happy. But the last that we spoke about it, you were set to turn it down. What changed your mind?

Believe it or not, but it was my mum.

[dramatic music]

And I do have a name, you know, other than Xander’s mum.

I just– I’m sorry. I know it’s Fiona. Fiona.

And I’m curious. Exactly which part of having done it with Xander’s mum is so upsetting? Or is it ’cause you’re related?

No, no. It’s just–I don’t give a damn that Xander is my– oh, my God, he’s my uncle. I guess he’s my uncle now. The fact is that he’s just–

What? You can say it.

I’m just trying to come up with a tactful way to say it. He’s–

I’m waiting.

What is so upsetting is the fact that my son is–

OK, Fiona. Here, screw the tact. He’s a total creep.

Sorry.

Grandma, hi. I didn’t hear you come in.

Hi.

Would you like some coffee or tea?

Tea. Tea would be lovely.

Hot tea, coming right up. Anything in it?

No, thank you. Thank you, sweetie.

Of course.

You sounded like you were having quite an urgent conversation when I came in. Is everything all right?

Yeah. I was just talking to my friend Sophia.

Sophia?

Mm-hmm. She was seeing if I could cover one of her shifts tonight, but her reception’s terrible. It’s frustrating, you know?

Yeah, I can imagine. Just out of curiosity, why would you call your friend Sophia… Tate?

So does this mean you and your mom are on good terms?

We’re working on it. I mean, I don’t know if I’ll ever be totally over her abandoning me as a child and lying to me about my father, but… yeah, we’ve found a way to move forward.

Good. I’m glad. Because we’re gonna need her as a witness.

Witness for what?

Listen, I don’t know if it’s just seeing you sitting here on this desk where you belong or if it’s that I’ve been up for hours straight, but I want to get married.

As do I, my love.

No. I mean today.

[soft music]

So you think my son’s a total creep?

No– [sighs] Fiona, I was– look, I’m trying to come up with something that was a little more tactful, but I couldn’t come up with a euphemism for creep, all right, so I tried to be less offensive. Sorry.

No, no, it’s fine. Actually, I appreciate your honesty. But tell me, why do you have such a low opinion of him?

I don’t think we need to get into that. Listen, I’m gonna jump in the shower and get to work, OK?

No, no, no. Wait, wait, wait.

Wait, what?

I’d really like to know exactly what Xander did to you.

[sighs] Fiona, I don’t see why we need to dredge all this up. I really don’t.

I want to know, Brady.

[sighs] All right. For starters, he shot me.

[scoffs] He did what?

Yeah, he shot me. Oh, he also shot my stepmother, and she almost died.

[sighs]

Does that answer your question pretty well?

[dramatic music]

Hattie Adams, is it really you?

What do you mean? You don’t recognize your old cell block sister?

Oh, I’ve just been thinking about you so much lately and all the good times we had. Oh, goodness. Come here. Oh! Oh, it’s so darn good to see you. [sighs]

It’s so good to see you too.

Oh. [gasps] Oh, wait. You’re married?

Me? No. No, I’m still single and cruising. Why?

You were talking about killing your husband.

[gasps] Oh! Oh, no, no, no, no. No, no, honey, that’s a line from this script.

[gasps] Whoa! What, script like a movie script?

Well, no, it’s actually just a TV script. Yeah. ‘Cause, Bonnie, I’m gonna be a soap star.

[gasps] [both squeal]

[groans] Abe. Are you really set on hiring Hattie to play Charlemagne?

Yeah. I think she’s perfect. She’s bold. She’s brash. She’s unpredictable.

OK. You know that I’m fond of the woman. I am. But frankly, Abe, she can’t act.

She fooled the whole town into thinking she was Marlena. I have faith that she’s gonna figure this out.

Mm-hmm. She better.

Well, look. We have to focus on filling out the rest of the cast, so… well, are you sure you won’t consider playing Lorna?

OK, for the very last time, I am not going to play Lorna DeLorean, OK? We’re just gonna have to find someone else.

Oh, that sounds like my cue.

[quirky music]

I’m really sorry for lying to you, Grandma.

So you were talking to Tate.

Yeah, I just–

Mm.

I wanted to see how he was doing at that lacrosse camp his parents sent him to. Look, I know we’re not supposed to be talking, but I just really miss him.

I understand. And if were up to me, I wouldn’t have come down so hard on you two.

Really?

Mm-hmm. But it wasn’t up to me. You lied to your parents. And they have every right to keep you safe.

Safe from what, our feelings for each other? It’s just so unfair. I don’t get why they won’t let us be together.

Well, you have to admit you made some bad decisions. And throw in that sneaking around–

Well, we didn’t really have a choice.

Well, all I can say is, the best way to change their mind is to prove to them that you can be trusted. So keep your distance. And maybe they will change their mind.

OK.

OK.

So you’re not gonna tell them about this, then, the phone call?

Mm-mm. I’m not gonna say anything. But from now on, I want you to be honest with me, OK?

OK.

OK. Well, I better…

Thanks, Grandma.

Check with Henderson and see if he’s packed Victoria’s things. I’m taking her home to her mommy. And I’ll see you later, OK?

OK.

All right.

[sighs]

[line ringing] Come on, Tate. Pick up. Where’d you go? [sighs]

[soft music]

I’m right here.

[chuckles]

I don’t know where to begin apologizing for all the heinous things that my son has done to you and your family.

Stop. How could any of that be your fault?

Oh, how can it not, at least partly? I wasn’t there when he was growing up. [sighs] I can’t help but take my share of the responsibility for how he turned out.

Fiona. Parents make mistakes.

Are you speaking from experience?

Oh, yeah. Yeah, my son spent most of his childhood across the country with his mother. I’ve been trying to make up for that and try to be the best father I can be.

How’s it working out?

It’s complicated. I just had to send him to summer camp recently just to straighten him out, keep him out of trouble. Is it gonna work? I don’t know. Maybe.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I’m trying to make up for lost time with Xander too. Falling out with him was the biggest regret of my life. [sighs] And I know you think he’s a creep.

But he’s your son. Well, you know, I know better than anybody that people can change. And he’s got a great fiancée in Sarah Horton. And he’s a dad. Don’t worry about it. The word on the street is, he’s trying to… turn his life around.

Thank you. Now go and take that shower.

Mm, all right.

[sighs]

You want to get married today?

Why not? Unless you have a reason that we should wait, hmm? Speak now, or forever hold your peace.

[inhales sharply] Course not! I want to marry you more than anything in the world. The sooner I make you my wife, the better.

Great. I’m gonna go home and get ready, then.

Well, don’t you think you should have a wee nap first?

Nope. I may be running on fumes and love, but I am champing at the bit to marry the love of my life.

Mm.

Then we can start our life as husband and wife.

[sighs]

Ooh-whee, this stuff is rich. Baby switches, weather machines. [laughter]

Hey, look, you can’t say a word about the fact that I let you see this, ’cause I mean, this is top secret.

Oh, come on. What do I look like? I know spoilers.

Yeah, well, Abe and Kate are really serious about that.

My lips are sealed. [chuckles] But I can’t wait to see it on TV. Girl, you’re gonna kill it. And by kill, I mean your fictional husband. [laughs]

Good one!

Seriously, I am so jazzed for you. Oh, Hattie, your ship has finally come in. You’re gonna be a bona fide soap star! [laughs]

Well, let’s just wait till I’m asked to sign my first autograph. [laughter]

Although I think nowadays they do the posing thing of the selfie, so maybe work on your poses.

What a good idea.

[laughs] So who are your castmates? Have you met them?

No, no, not yet. They still have to cast them because they’re looking for a Lorna and a Kassandra character.

Kassandra, no! No! That is my all-time favorite character! [laughs]

Oh. Well, they wanted Dr. Kayla to do it, but she said no way. But can you imagine, one of Salem’s finest citizens being in a soap opera?

Yeah, imagine that. [laughs] Imagine.

[chuckles]

Leo?

Ah-ta-ta-ta-ta. It’s Lorna DeLorean, and I am ready for my close-up. [sniffs] Is this where we’re gonna be reading? Not exactly Universal Studios, is it?

[clears throat] I’m sorry. Why are you here?

I just told you. I’m here to read for the role of Lorna.

OK, so you do understand that this is an audition for “Body & Soul,” not “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” correct?

Ha-ha. I know what this is. I’m perfect for this role.

Except Lorna is a woman.

[clears throat]

And you are a man.

Have you never seen “Tootsie”? I can play this role as well as any woman–better, in fact. And I will have you know that during Shakespeare’s time, the men played the male and the female parts.

Because women weren’t allowed to act.

Whatever, if it was good enough for the Bard, it’s good enough for “Body & Soul.”

[sighs] Would you excuse us a moment?

[quirky music]

Mm-hmm?

Maybe we should let him read.

Why?

[chuckles]

Because we don’t need– the last thing you need is a gender discrimination lawsuit. And this litigious jerk almost took Titan down a while back.

You’re serious?

It’s only an audition.

[sighs] All right. Stark, you can read for the part.

Yay! OK, if I may–before I knock this out of the park– share with you that in his masterpiece “Hamlet,” the aforementioned Bard had his title character explain to a group of actors that the purpose of playing is to hold as ’twere a mirror up to nature, to show virtue its feature, scorn its own image, and the very age and body of the time its form and pressure. [inhales deeply] In other words, Hamlet was proposing that what we see onstage reflect what is real in our lives and the world, mm.

Yeah, right. Break a leg or something.

Thank you. First, some vocal exercises. Red leather, yellow leather. Red leather, yellow leather. Red leather, yellow leather. Red leather, yellow leather. Red leather, yellow leather. Red leather. Red leather, yellow leather. [phone ringing]

Hello, darling.

Mum, hi. I was just wondering if you were busy this afternoon.

I have some free time. What’s going on?

Well, I thought maybe you’d like to… witness your son remarrying the love of his life.

[sighs] Shower’s all yours.

[tense music]

Mum, who was that?

Tate?

That’s me.

Hi. What are you doing here? Do you have any idea how much trouble you’re gonna be in?

I had to come.

OK, I know. I missed you too, but–

No, no, I had to come because I locked myself out of the Horton cabin, and I need your grandma’s key to get myself back in.

[dramatic music]

Someone missed their mommy.

[sighs] I’m sorry I was so late.

Oh, it’s no problem at all.

[chuckles]

Listen, you must be so exhausted, having pulled a double shift.

[chuckles]

Why don’t I stay and watch our girl while you get some sleep?

Well, I very much want you to stay.

Mm.

But there’s no time for sleep.

Oh. And why is that?

Well, because Victoria’s mommy and daddy are getting married today.

What?

[chuckles]

Oh!

Mum, who’s there with you?

[chuckles] Well, if you must know, I had another delightful evening with my charming new friend.

[sultry music]

OK. Now I’d love to change the subject, if that’s all right with you. Do you think you can make it to the wedding?

Of course. I wouldn’t dream of missing it.

Fantastic. Oh, and feel free to bring your new friend along. I’d love to meet him.

Well, I think it’s a bit early in the relationship for me to be introducing him to my family.

Well, the invitation stands if you change your mind. But we’ll see you at the apartment this afternoon?

Oh, I’ll be there with bells on.

[laughs] I really thought you were gonna tell him the truth.

Oh. [phone ringing]

It’s Xander. Oh, my– did he recognize my voice?

[sighs] Well, he didn’t say anything, but perhaps he was testing me?

[sighs] Well, this ought to be fun.

Oh, don’t you dare be a raging hypocrite with me, Thrust, not after you did the nasty with my mother! Oh, I hope you don’t mind I did a little rewrite. I found the script to be a bit pedestrian.

Pedestrian.

Keep going.

OK, where was I? Oh, yeah. [mumbling indistinctly] Not after you did the nasty with my mother! OK, yes, I may have slept with your twin brother and your father and your father’s twin brother, but that does not mean I am the filthy, wanton trollop that Charlemagne and all the other fat-ankled denizens of this nondescript Midwestern burg think I am.

[quirky music]

Nondescript?

I am a woman, Thrust! And I have the right to experience everything this life has to offer with my body and my soul. [inhales sharply]

Oh, my God, is it over?

Oh, God, God, please, please, please let it be over.

And scene. [chuckles] So? [exhales sharply]

Dude, why would you lock the door while going out for a jog? There’s no crime up there.

I know. I know. It was just a force of habit.

And you know what? You shouldn’t be out jogging around the island anyways. What if one of the townies saw you and called my grandma or Julie?

I get it. I get it. I don’t know. I just–I had to get out. I was going stir-crazy up there.

Seriously, you have to get out of here.

OK.

Grandma’s right upstairs.

OK, but do you think you can sneak her key for me?

But what if she notices it’s gone?

It’s OK; I’ll go to town, I’ll get a copy made, and I’ll bring back the original.

Mm, I have a better idea. I don’t have work until tonight. So what if I came up with you to the cabin, we spend the day together, and I’ll bring the key back?

I like the sound of that.

Perfect. [chuckles]

[soft music] [phone rings]

Just answer it!

Xander, what’s up?

Where are you right now?

Why do you care?

Lose the attitude, mate, especially since we’re gonna be working together again. Or more accurately, you’re gonna be working for me.

[tense music]

You’re back at Titan as CEO?

You didn’t see the press release? [sighs] Yes, I’m back, and I need you to take a meeting for me. A high-end tech company on the West Coast wants to make AI-enhanced metaverses featuring Titan publications and product lines.

OK, what does that have to do with Basic Black?

Nothing, but Sarah and I are getting married today. Just a small ceremony with Maggie and my mum in attendance.

Well, congrats to you.

Thanks, mate. But it really would put everyone at ease if there was a family member at that meeting. Can I count on you to take care of it?

Sure. Consider it my wedding present.

[chuckles] Appreciate it. Thanks, mate.

Well, Xander, I’m not doing it for you. I’m doing it for Sarah and Maggie and anybody else who’s had the misfortune of loving you.

See? You were worried about nothing. Our little rendezvous stays between us.

I guess so. Listen, I better go. I better get to the office and prep for this meeting.

Yes, and I need to transform myself into a suitable mother-in-law.

Yeah. Fiona, wait. Come here.

[dramatic music]

Last night, that was actually really great.

Yes, it was. Perhaps we can do it again sometime.

Maybe we can.

Our little angel fell asleep as soon as I put her down.

Oh, good. Come and sit. Tell me all about Xander and Titan. What did Fiona say to convince him to accept Victor’s bequest?

It just–it sounds like she helped him embrace Victor’s legacy and see how he can make it his own. Honestly, I’m surprised that she’s the one that got through to him, given how angry he was with her at the wedding.

And with good reason.

Mm.

Mm. I am happy, though, that they’re getting along. Xander’s gonna need his whole family to help him get– well, to navigate his new life.

Mm-hmm. Which is why we want to make our little family official.

Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

So what do you say? You want to perform a wedding?

I say that I have been waiting for this a long time.

[squeals]

Yay! [laughter] Oh, my darling.

I love you, Mommy. [laughter] [camera clicking]

Oh, that’s it. That’s it.

I’m posting that one. I’m posting that one.

You know what? You know what? They’re all good. Just post them all.

Why not? Besides which, you used to serve hash in this very pub, and now your name’s gonna be in lights!

Oh, Bon, you’re gonna make me blush.

[laughs] You just remember me when you win your first Oscar, girl.

Oh, yeah. You know, a guy just made that mistake on TV. I mean, it’s not an Oscar. It’s an Emmy.

Oh, whatever. [laughs] You know all the big movie stars began their careers on soaps? That Meg Ryan and Angela Bassett, Julianne Moore, Brad Pitt. [laughs]

Oh, breathe hard.

I know, right? Oh, and that pretty lady from that show “Our House” with the Quaker Oats guy. Mm. And now the name Hattie Adams is gonna be right up there with them. Mm-hmm. [laughter]

Well? Why so slow with the reviews? What did you think? [sighs]

It was– Well, it was certainly–

It was certainly terrible.

Mm.

It was painful, actually.

Ugh! How dare you? I opened up a metaphorical vein and poured my entire essence out for you people.

Let’s keep our essences to ourselves, huh?

It’s not my fault that this script is not worthy to lie in a peacock’s birdcage. I mean, who wrote this crap?

Well, we are in the process of looking for a new head writer.

Actually, I am hopeful that Will will consider taking over the writers’ room, you know, at least consulting.

Oh.

That hack? I mean, Wilhelmina will probably just recycle storylines from that hideous Christmas movie of his.

[laughs] So you actually think that insulting my grandson is going to incline me to cast you?

Oh, I’m just teasing. Your grandson is very charming and quite talented, but his fee must be ginormous. There’s no way you could afford him, not even with the granny discount.

He does have a valid point there.

Oh, come on. You’re not actually thinking of hiring Leo Stark to write for us.

[quirky music]

He’s within our budget. And Lady Whistleblower does have a way with words.

Oh, my God. I give up. I give up. Here.

What’s this?

That’s a breakdown, which is an outline of a “Body & Soul” script. You take it home, you read it, and you turn it into an actual script. And if it’s decent, Abe and I might consider maybe offering you a trial deal to write for us.

A trial deal?

Mm.

Like another audition?

Take it or leave it, Stark.

Fine, I’ll take it. But be prepared to be blown away. I am going to pen a soap opera script worthy of all the late greats– Irna, Agnes, Bill, Betty, and Ted. You just wait and see.

What the hell have we gotten ourselves into?

[chuckles]

[light music]

Oh, there’s my best girl.

[laughs] Hey. Listen, I think there are two women in this apartment that are ahead of me on that list.

I’m just delighted to see you. So are you ready to marry me off to your daughter yet again?

I am. I am. I am. And I hear your mother is on her way.

Yeah, it seems like a step in the right direction.

I’ll say, considering she was able to convince you to take your rightful place at Titan.

You heard about that?

Mm-hmm. I think Victor would be very pleased, wherever he is. [knock at door] [chuckles]

Mum! You look fantastic.

Thank you very much.

Hello, Fiona.

Oh, Maggie.

Oh, darling.

It’s so lovely to see you on such a happy day.

Thank you. [laughs]

No plus-one?

Oh, no, I explained your gracious invitation to my friend, and he agreed it’s far too soon for us to meet each other’s families. Xander, your flat is quite charming, but I assume that you’ll be moving into the mansion with your young family after the wedding.

Oh, well–

[gentle music]

[chuckles]

I don’t need a mansion as long as I’ve got my beautiful bride. My true home is… in Sarah’s heart.

Mm. And mine is in yours.

Xander, will you stop gaping and change and we can have ourselves a wedding? [laughter]

I will come to your wedding over your dead body, Kassandra.

Oh, goodness.

Oh! Hey, girlfriend!

Hey, you.

Are you rushing off somewhere? Never mind. I’m sure you’re busy.

Yeah, yeah. Well, anyway.

Wait, wait, wait, wait. If you’re not busy later– I mean tonight–would you– would you want to come over and watch “Drag Race” with me?

“Drag Race”? Hell yeah.

Great. Great. It’s a date. OK, Salem Inn, room . I’ll see you around 😕

around :. , :. Sure, I got it. [chuckles]

[upbeat music] Who the hell was that?

Well, our little show is turning out to be a motley crew of thieves and scammers.

That’s a little harsh, don’t you think?

No, no. Actually, I don’t. I mean, you convinced me to cast Hattie. And now we’re actually considering hiring Leo Stark to write for us.

Well, think of it this way, Kate. There’ll never be a dull moment on the air or behind the scenes.

Oh, God, I just want to find a sane and talented thespian to play the role of Kassandra. That’s it. You know, we have some of the best local theater talent coming by this afternoon to read for us.

Well, you can just cancel that cattle call, Katie, hon, because I was born to play Kassandra Lovegood.

[jazzy music]

OK. You find someplace to stay hidden, and I’ll get us tickets for the Smith Island Ferry.

Deal.

[soft music] Bye.

Bye.

Yeah, I’m headed back to the office. Just make sure the conference room is ready for the meeting, all right? All right, thank you. Oh, sorry.

Sorry.

Tate?

[suspenseful music]

Hey, Dad.

Xander, you said you wanted to say something before we moved on to the official vows?

I would, yeah. I do. Sorry. That’s for later, isn’t it? I’m just– I’m a little nervous.

It’s all right, darling. Take your time.

[sighs]

[romantic music] Sarah, if I started listing all the reasons that I’m not worthy of you, well, we’d be here until next week.

[chuckles]

And just the fact that you’re stood here, ready and willing to give me yet another chance, it’s proof that I’ve received more of God’s grace than I ever expected in this life.

I’m not gonna promise that I will never mess up again, because you know me.

[laughs]

Obviously I’m gonna mess up repeatedly.

But I do vow that I will strive every day to be completely and utterly honest with you, putting you, our daughter, our family, and our abiding love first, always.

Sarah, would you like to say something?

Xander, you talk about how you don’t deserve me. And I mean, yeah, you have made mistakes, huge mistakes.

But sometimes I think that I’m the one that doesn’t deserve you. Because what did I do in this lifetime or in , lifetimes to have a man who loves me so much that he would be willing to do anything for me, legal or otherwise?

I can’t promise that I will never get mad at you if you mess up, because, well, you know me too, so… [laughs]

But I vow that I will never take the easy way out again. I will stay and fight for our marriage, for our family, for our love. Xander, you are so worth it. We are worth it.

[clears throat] Just give me a second to get ahold of myself. OK. [sniffles] OK. OK, I can do this. [laughter] Do you, Alexander, take Sarah to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, for richer, for poorer…

As long as you both shall live?

I do.

[laughs]

Do you, Sarah, take Alexander to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, for richer, for poorer…

As long as you both shall live?

Hell yes, I do. [laughs]

I assume you both have rings.

Yes, yes.

We have, yes.

Mom?

Yes. [nervous laughter]

[sighs]

[laughs]

And now by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you, once again and at long last, husband and wife.

Well, what are you waiting for? Kiss your bride.

You heard your mother.

Gladly! [laughter]

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Alex returns to his old apartment and runs in to Stephanie in the hallway. Alex greets her and thought she was moving out months ago. Stephanie says she was, but after Chad left, she decided to move back. Stephanie asks what Alex is doing there. Alex reveals that he’s moving back in too.

Ava goes to the Bistro to see Stefan.

At the hospital, Gabi sits at Rafe’s side while he remains in a coma. Gabi talks about trying the tender love and care routine, but he’s still not waking up and she’s started to get really frustrated. Gabi says she may have to move on to tough love and he won’t like that. Johnny then appears in the room and calls Gabi the toughest person he knows.

Paulina goes to Jada’s office at the police station. Jada mentions not realizing how late it was. Paulina says it looks like she’s gotten settled in to the commissioner position. Jada assures it’s still Rafe’s position when he comes back but she’s doing her best. Paulina asks about the new developments with Rafe’s stabbing. Jada confirms there are but there are no changes in Rafe’s condition. Paulina assumes the break in the case has something to do with the suspect she told her about. Jada reveals that he’s no longer a suspect as it’s been confirmed that Everett Lynch was the one who attacked Rafe.

Connie goes home with a bottle of wine and talks to her vision of Li. Connie talks about being in a good mood because she got rid of Rafe’s attacker, she’s got a good job, and she has her vision of Li. She talks about her first day at DiMera and feeling like she really hit it off with her co-workers. She talks about how Gabi has been impressed with her and all the valuable information she learned that she can use later. Connie talks about feeling more comfortable. Her vision of Li asks if she means comfortable with DiMera business or with killing Everett Lynch.

Paulina questions Jada about her ex-husband being the one who attacked Rafe. Jada clarifies that he was Bobby Stein when they were married, so they think Bobby is the one who attacked Rafe. Paulina doesn’t know what to say. Jada didn’t want to believe it either but says that she and Stephanie put the pieces together that Bobby might have been faking being back to Everett. Jada adds that Bobby had a very clear motive for wanting Rafe out of the picture, because he wanted her back. Jada talks about bringing Bobby in for questioning, then he said he wasn’t feeling well so she had to let him go because she didn’t have the evidence to hold him. Jada says that Stephanie took matters in to her own hands and went to his hotel room, so she followed her and when they got there, he was lying next to a bottle of pills as he had overdosed. Jada then reveals to Paulina that Bobby/Everett is dead. Paulina is shocked and says she’s so sorry, but asks if she’s sure that he’s the one who attacked Rafe. Jada informs her that there was a suicide note that confessed to everything and also reveals the bloody gloves found in his room.

Gabi tells Johnny that this is a surprise. Johnny says he’s been thinking about Rafe so he wanted to come check how he was doing and how she’s doing. Gabi thanks him and says she knows it would mean a lot to Rafe that he came to see him. Johnny asks what the doctors are saying. Gabi says not much as they just don’t know. Johnny calls that the worst and asks how Gabi is doing. Gabi says she’s hanging in the best she can. Johnny recalls when EJ was in a coma and the feeling of just expecting him to wake up at any moment. Johnny tells Gabi that he’s sorry. Gabi says she just hates seeing Rafe like this. Johnny recalls when he was a kid and how Rafe was a like a larger than life superhero. Johnny says he felt safe because Rafe was out saving the world and he couldn’t believe how lucky he was to have Rafe as his stepfather. Gabi says it’s as lucky as she is to have Rafe as a big brother. Johnny calls Rafe one of the strongest, bravest, and toughest guys out there so he’s going to get through this like he always does. Gabi talks about how Rafe fought so hard to get her out of prison. Johnny notes that Stefan did too. Gabi says she’s lucky to have Stefan too as neither of them ever gave up on her.

Ava tells Stefan that Gabi went to the hospital to visit Rafe, so she decided to take this opportunity to talk to Stefan alone.

Stephanie questions Alex leaving Titan. Alex confirms he cleared out his office this morning now that he’s not Victor’s son anymore, so he couldn’t make a case for remaining CEO. Alex says afterwards, he realized he didn’t want to go back to the Kiriakis mansion as he doesn’t feel like he belongs there anymore. Alex says things moved so fast after Victor’s death that he never got around to giving up the lease to the apartment. Alex says he hasn’t been back since he left so it’s probably hot inside. Stephanie notes that her place is probably a mess, so she invites Alex to go to the Pub and grab a beer which he accepts.

Paulina asks if Jada can explain why she still has the gloves. Jada says she was going to take them to forensics after finishing the report and guesses she’s still trying to make this real for herself. Paulina asks if Jada is alright as if Rafe’s case wasn’t personal enough already. Jada feels she should’ve put this together sooner and realized that Bobby was capable of stabbing and hurting Rafe. Paulina argues that she can’t blame herself as she had no reason to suspect Bobby was capable of this kind of violence. Jada argues that now the man she loves is lying in a hospital bed and she doesn’t know if he will wake up or if she will ever hear his voice. Paulina stops her and assures this was not her fault. Paulina relates to being with a man capable of terrible violence too. Paulina says Abe couldn’t treat her better, but Lani’s father Ray had a terrible mean streak and used to hit her and make her believe she deserved it or that she made him act that way. Paulina says she finally realized that she wasn’t the cause of it, just like Jada isn’t responsible for Bobby. Jada thanks her for saying that. Paulina calls it the truth. Jada talks about how she can’t believe she was married to someone capable of murder and insists that wasn’t the person she knew. Paulina points out that she didn’t know about his personality disorder either. Jada admits that Bobby had so many secrets but she hopes that one of those secrets won’t cost Rafe his life.

Gabi tells Johnny how she knows that Rafe loved being his stepfather. They talk about EJ and how he can hold a grudge forever. Johnny tells Gabi that he’s sorry for how long EJ took to get Gabi out of prison and calls it totally wrong of him to let her sit in there for something she didn’t do. Gabi thanks him but admits she’s a little surprised that he’s being so nice to her. Johnny questions why. Gabi points out that she did expose the truth about what EJ did to Eric and Nicole. Johnny says he’s glad she did because he was keeping Eric from his child and letting Nicole live a lie. Johnny hopes EJ will learn some kind of lesson from this as he’s definitely paid the price in basically losing everyone he loves. Gabi adds that he’s even on the outs with Stefan. Johnny wishes Gabi a happy anniversary. Gabi calls it sweet of him to remember. Johnny mentions Stefan hinting at her surprise as he wanted the day to be special. Gabi says he succeeded. Johnny is glad to hear and guesses they are making up for lost time. Johnny talks about how Stefan was so lonely and miserable while Gabi was in prison.

Ava tells Stefan that something happened at the office today. Stefan asks her to be more specific. Ava says she could be overreacting but she doesn’t know. Stefan asks if this has to do with Gabi. Ava says it’s her new assistant, Connie. Ava explains that she and Kristen were talking about what happened between her and Stefan, then Connie sort of walked in on them. Stefan questions if she heard them. Ava says that Kristen is pretty sure she didn’t but they couldn’t just ask her. Stefan questions what exactly she said. Ava believes she said that she and Stefan slept together. Stefan calls this so bad. Ava encourages that Connie is new at DiMera, so even if she heard, she probably has no idea what they were talking about. Stefan questions why she was even talking about this in the office in the first place when Connie is Gabi’s assistant. Ava remarks that Connie seems harmless…

Connie tells her vision of Li that she did not murder Everett Lynch as he left a suicide note. Her vision of Li tells her that Everett didn’t write that note and she poisoned his coffee. Connie complains that she can’t get anything past him and says she had to do it because Everett/Bobby was going to expose her for stabbing Rafe which she only did because he was going to expose her for stabbing Li. Connie argues that she and Li would’ve been together a long time ago if it wasn’t for Stefan and Gabi. Connie declares that she’s going to make them pay for what they did and she knows exactly how.

Johnny goes home and joins Chanel in their bedroom. They kiss until Chanel asks if he’s hungry. Johnny mentions eating at the hospital when he went to see Rafe. Chanel asks how he’s doing. Johnny says he still hasn’t woken up, but he saw Gabi there. Chanel says she must be really scared. Johnny admits she’s scared and sad, but powering on through and not drowning in her sorrows.

Stephanie and Alex go to the Brady Pub together. Stephanie asks Alex how it feels to no longer be rich. Alex says he’s still getting used to it but it’s not entirely about the money as it’s more the whiplash of being Victor’s son and then not being Victor’s son. Stephanie is sure Justin is happy to have him back but she knows it’s not easy having his life flipped upside down twice in a year. Alex says that’s enough about his problems and asks about her since she and Everett broke up. Alex asks if there’s any chance they might get back together. Stephanie reveals there isn’t because Everett is dead.

Paulina asks Jada if the case against Everett Lynch is closed. Jada says that Bobby confessed to everything in the “suicide note”. Paulina declares it’s over then but Jada says not exactly, since they haven’t resolved who really killed Li Shin. Paulina brings up Jada saying she had a new suspect. Jada says that Bobby never told her who, just that it wasn’t Gil Carter and that he knew who attacked Rafe. Paulina argues that he did know since he did it himself and asks if Bobby could’ve killed Li as well. Jada says she’s not ruling it out but doesn’t understand why he wouldn’t have included it in the suicide note since it would no longer matter. Jada also doesn’t know what his motive would be to kill Li Shin since they had no connection.

Connie talks to her vision of Li about knowing working with Gabi would pay off, but she didn’t know it would pay off so quickly as she overheard Ava talking to Kristen about sleeping with Stefan while Gabi was still in prison. Connie says she doesn’t have a plan yet but she almost dropped it on Gabi and Stefan today at the Bistro where they were having a romantic anniversary dinner. Connie says she decided to keep her trap shut in the end because she realized this is a bomb with a long fuse, so she wants to detonate it when it will have maximum impact.

Stefan tells Ava that Connie was at the Bistro earlier when he was with Gabi. Ava asks how she seemed and what she wanted. Stefan explains that she wanted Gabi to sign some papers that Ava wanted her to sign. Ava clarifies that she did not ask her to do that and questions what he thinks that means. Stefan asks Ava again if she thinks Connie heard her. Ava thinks if Connie came here acting normal, then they are safe. Stefan says that doesn’t make him feel any better. Stefan adds that he told Gabi that he and Ava kissed twice while playing their parts and that she didn’t love it, but she understood. Stefan asks Ava if they can make a new rule that says they don’t discuss this ever again because it’s done and he can’t risk anyone hearing something they shouldn’t, especially not Gabi, right as Gabi walks in to the Bistro. Stefan greets her and asks if everything is okay. Ava asks how Rafe is. Gabi says he’s the same and questions what Ava is doing here. Stefan claims that Ava came to have papers signed and then Ava adds that Stefan told her that Connie already came and had her sign a copy. Gabi confirms that she did and gave them back to her. Gabi remarks that Connie hasn’t been her assistant long, but she doesn’t seem like the type of person to wait around for things to happen.

Connie admits she’s anxious to reveal Stefan’s infidelity to Gabi, but she’s not in a hurry since revenge is a dish best served cold. Her vision of Li asks if she has the patience to wait. Connie says this time she does because the longer Gabi thinks that Stefan was faithful while she was in the slammer, the more delicious it’s going to be when she finds out he was tangling in the sheets with his co-worker. Connie thinks she will help Gabi and Ava get past their differences and start to get along, so when it all goes sour, it will be almost as good as what happened with Charlemagne and Cassandra on Body and Soul which she mentions being on YouTube. Connie talks about how fun it will be watching Gabi and Ava bond, knowing that she can destroy them whenever she wants. Connie decides it’s time for bed and reveals the vision of Li that she has been talking to is actually a life-sized cardboard cutout of Li.

Johnny tells Chanel that he wishes there was more he could do for Rafe and Gabi. Chanel says being a good friend is a lot but Johnny says it doesn’t feel like a lot. Chanel encourages him being a good director and a great person. Johnny says he’s inspired by an even better person in Chanel as they kiss. After they head to bed, Johnny says he’s going to stay up and watch some videos on YouTube of Body and Soul to prepare himself for working on the show. Chanel jokes about Johnny’s work being watching TV. Chanel then offers to watch with him because she loves the show, so Johnny opens up his laptop.

Alex tells Stephanie that he’s so sorry as she just lost the guy she loved while he’s complaining about losing his inheritance. Stephanie understands he didn’t know. Alex calls it an incredible tragedy. Stephanie adds that especially since he seemed to be getting his life together. Alex asks if it could’ve been an accidental overdose. Stephanie says that his alter, Bobby, left a note. Alex asks if that means Bobby was the one who took the pills. Stephanie says somehow that makes it even worse. Stephanie knows it sounds strange, but she doesn’t think any of this is what Everett wanted because of his terrible disorder. Stephanie cries that Everett was a good person that didn’t deserve any of this.

Paulina tells Jada that she can only imagine how confusing and painful this whole ordeal has been. Jada admits it’s not something she expected. Paulina admits she’s grateful there’s no longer a violent criminal on the loose. Jada says she’s trying to take comfort in that. Paulina encourages that Jada did her job under the worst of circumstances. Jada says it doesn’t feel like that, arguing that Rafe should be here but he’s not because of a man that she brought in to his life. Paulina assures that Rafe won’t see it that way. Paulina then tells Jada to take the rest of the day off and go home. Jada agrees but says she should first call Gabi as she doesn’t know about Everett yet. Jada hopes Gabi will find some comfort in knowing the man that hurt her brother is off the streets. Paulina tells Jada to hang in there as she exits her office.

Ava tells Gabi that since she already signed the papers, she can go. Ava wishes them a Happy Anniversary and tells Gabi that she will see her at the office tomorrow as she exits the Bistro. Stefan tells Gabi that those papers must have been pretty important if everyone’s tracking her down to sign them. Gabi feels it was below Ava’s pay grade and hopes it wasn’t too awkward for him when Ava showed up. Gabi then gets a call from Jada, who says she’s sorry to bother her on her anniversary but asks if she can talk for a minute. Gabi says of course and asks if it’s about Rafe. Jada informs Gabi that she got some new information that she thinks will bring her some closure.

Chanel and Johnny discuss the storylines on Body and Soul. Chanel remarks that the characters lead some crazy lives while Johnny asks if it’s any different than the Days of their Lives, pointing out that they thought EJ’s baby was dead when it turns out he was just adopted by Eric and Sloan and then it turned out to actually be Eric and Nicole’s baby, not EJ’s at all. Johnny brings up what Theresa did to Alex in letting him think he was the heir of the Kiriakis fortune. Chanel hopes that Alex has somebody to lean on.

Stephanie thanks Alex and says she definitely wasn’t expecting to cry on his shoulder tonight. Alex guesses they are even since she was there for him on the night that his wedding absolutely exploded. Alex tells Stephanie that he’s really sorry about Everett. Stephanie says she appreciates that. Stephanie says it’s getting late so they should probably head back to their apartments. Alex calls it convenient to be neighbors since they can come here and go back in one car. Alex says he’ll find the waiter to take care of the check, insisting that it’s on him so Stephanie thanks him.

Jada goes to the hospital and sits at Rafe’s side, telling him that Bobby was pretending to be Everett all along as he obviously didn’t want him around. Jada cries that she’s so sorry and that she wouldn’t believe any of this if she hadn’t lived it. Jada repeats that she’s so sorry and that she wishes she knew what he was capable of so she could’ve protected Rafe. Jada declares that at least now they have the case closed and he’s gone, so now all she wants to do is focus on Rafe coming back to them.

Gabi tells Stefan that she can’t believe this Bobby/Everett is the one who stabbed Rafe. Stefan points out that at least he’s dead though. Gabi isn’t sure that makes her feel any better since it does make Rafe any more likely to wake up. Gabi complains that getting a phone call out of the blue feels so unsatisfying as she’ll never get to see Bobby brought to justice or get to confront him face to face. Stefan points out that at least he did pay and that he’s dead, so justice was served in that respect. Stefan then declares that the person who hurt Rafe can never do it to anyone ever again.

Connie finishes her glasses of wine and takes her cardboard cutout of Li to bed.

Brookes Bedroom promotional video rolls on social media and billboards around the world.

In Monte Carlo, Brooke and Ridge field questions from the press.

At Forrester Creations, Steffi, Carter, Zende, Hope, and Katie gather in Steffi’s office. Carter takes a phone call and then announces that Brooke and Ridge made a splash in Monte Carlo. Hope gloats about how her mother’s line is going to be good for the company. Steffi says she hopes so but cautions against getting ahead of themselves. Hope says she has a feeling that her mother is going to be a big hit… again. Carter says the buzz is great, but they need to see a significant impact from the social media drive. Steffi says they need to ensure this campaign gives them the financial boost that they need. Hope thinks Steffi’s hesitation is because of her feelings about Brooke. Steffi says her personal feelings have nothing to do with it. She says she wants this launch to be everything that everyone is hoping for and more. But they will have to wait and see.

In Monte Carlo, Brooke is nervous as she and Ridge wait to see if their video is going to trend or go viral. Ridge is sure that it will. He says Brooke has always been the element that made Brooke’s Bedroom popular because she’s honest and embraces everything about herself.

In Steffi’s office, Carter tells Zende that he’s impressed that he put together the Brookes Bedroom video in less than 48 hours. Steffi agrees that Zende did well. Zende says he believes in the reboot. Kate says she believes in it too. Hope chimes in that Brooke has always been popular with customers and buyers. Carter says he’s a numbers guy and he needs to see orders to confirm the success of the launch. Hope thinks everyone should be as confident as she is in her mother.

In Monte Carlo, Brooke poses for a selfie with a fan,

At Forrester, Steffi wonders if any orders are coming in yet. She is on edge because Hope for the Future’s sales are down, and they are not getting as much foot traffic at the bricks and mortar stores while the rents are going up. She says word has gotten out that Thomas is no longer designing for Hope for the Future. Hope blamed Steffi for that. Carter says Steffi’s main concern as Co-CEO is the financial well-being of the company. Zende opines that the fashion industry has its ups and downs and that Ridge had that in mind when he brought Brooke in to breathe new life into the already-popular Brooke’s Bedroom line. Hope notices that Katie is antsy.

In Monte Carlo, Ridge tells Brooke that it will take days, even weeks, for the campaign to gain traction. Their liaison runs up and tells them that their video is trending. Ridge decides to call Steffi and get an update.

At Forrester Creations, the website has crashed from too much traffic at one time. Steffi tells Ridge that IT is working on it. Ridge wants to know the numbers. When the website is restored, Carter announces that 126,000 units have been sold, and they don’t have that much inventory. Ridge tells Carter not to worry about that. Hope, Katie, Zende, and Carter congratulate Brooke. Brooke can’t believe the launch was so successful.

In Monte Carlo, Ridge tells Brooke that she is as gorgeous and authentic as always. A stylish elderly woman thanks Brooke for her empowering message to the world.

At Forrester, Hope tells Zende that he played a large part in today’s success. He says the social media team deserves the credit. Carter interjects that the team will get their credit but that Zende was behind the camera. Hope takes the opportunity to compliment her mother, yet again. Hope tells Steffi that it’s ok to smile, not just for Brooke or her line, but for all of Forrester Creations.

In Monte Carlo, Brooke still can’t believe the success of the relaunch. Ridge says he learned a long time ago not to underestimate Brooke. Update written by Joseph

Fiona tells Xander that she just wants to have a relationship with her son because she loves him. Fiona asks if Xander believes her and if he can find it in his heart to forgive her. Xander then sees something in the room and questions what the hell that is. Xander finds Brady’s underwear on the floor and questions who they belong to. Fiona thinks back to sending Brady to hide and escape through the window. Fiona then tells Xander that she had a dalliance last night. Xander points out that he’s the only man she knows in town. Fiona responds that was true, until she met a handsome stranger at the Bakery. Fiona claims that they bonded over beverages as their lattes got mixed up so they returned them to each other. Fiona remarks that he was a very charming gentlemen. Xander then suggests he might know him and asks what this charming gentlemen’s name is.

Brady is at Small Bar where Alex finds him and asks him how it’s going. Alex offers him company, insisting that no one likes drinking alone although he would be if he didn’t find Brady here. Alex talks about the past week knocking him on his ass from thinking he was Victor’s son and about to marry the woman he loved to having her screw him over which he guesses she also did to Brady. Alex guesses that’s also why Brady is back on the bottle and asks if he’s right.

Stephanie goes to the hospital in tears as Kayla asks what’s going on. Stephanie informs her that she came in with Everett. Kayla asks what happened and if he’s alright. Stephanie realizes she hasn’t heard and reveals that Everett is dead, shocking Kayla.

Marlena questions Steve as to what’s going on here and if John didn’t come back from Greece with him. Steve confirms that he didn’t, so Marlena asks where he is. Steve responds that he’s sorry but he’s afraid John is missing.

In Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Jack suggests Chad that they call the police but Chad says he’s not wasting another second if Abigail is behind that door. Chad then kicks the door open as he and Jack are shocked to find John tied up and unconscious inside the room!

Steve repeats to Marlena that he’s so sorry for keeping her in the dark. Marlena says she assumed Steve had found him. Steve wishes he had and talks about finding Catarina’s grave. Marlena questions Steve not knowing where John is or if he’s even alive.

Chad and Jack wake John up and untie him. Chad asks how badly he’s hurt. John responds that he’s been worse. Jack questions what he’s doing here. John says he could ask them the same question. Chad says they’re going to focus on him and tells him that Steve’s looking for him in Greece. John questions where the hell he is if he’s not in Greece. Jack reveals that he’s in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. John asks how he got there and what the hell they are doing here.

Kayla tells Stephanie that she didn’t even know Everett was brought in tonight. Stephanie informs her that’s because they took his body straight to the morgue as he died in his hotel room. Kayla asks what happened. Stephanie tells her that he overdosed on pills. Kayla questions it being a cardiac medicine and asks if it was an accidental overdose. Stephanie tells Kayla about the note that was left. Stephanie adds that he was still alive when she and Jada got there but she watched him die. Stephanie knows Kayla is used to seeing death every day, but she has never. Kayla tells her that she’s so sorry. Stephanie cries that Everett took his life because he was in so much pain, so she can’t help feeling like she let him down or didn’t do enough to save him.

Fiona doubts Xander knows the gentleman who she spent the night with and says it’s a very awkward conversation to have with her son. Fiona remarks that men have casual sex all the time with no judgment and questions if Xander is judging her. Xander says he’s not and suggests changing the subject. Fiona brings up knowing how devastated he was when she disappeared from his life but says he needs to know that it was truly not her choice and she’s dedicated years to working on her sobriety and improving her mental health. She claims that her motivation was the hope that one day she’d be able to be the mother he deserves. Fiona needs to know that he believes what she told him is the truth. Xander responds that he believes her. Fiona tells Xander that makes her so happy and asks if that means he forgives her.

Brady tells Alex that he’s not drinking and just having club soda. Alex calls that a relief and says he thought he’d have to call Maggie on him. Alex asks if he’s still going to meetings. Brady says he is but he’s not going to discuss sobriety while Alex is drinking scotch. Alex says he’s glad that Theresa didn’t drive him to drink though. Brady admits he was tempted. Alex remarks that he thought he was the chosen one but he was just another loser not worth mentioning in Victor’s will. Alex toasts to them being losers tonight but winners in general and to never seeing Theresa again.

Jack wants to call Marlena so that she can hear John’s voice and know he’s okay. Jack gives John his phone, so he calls Marlena. Marlena answers and tells Jack that it’s not a good time but John tells her it’s him which surprises her as she asks how he is. John says he’s fine. Marlena tells him that she’s with Steve, who said he found his letter at Catarina’s grave with blood on it and questions what’s happening there.

Kayla encourages that Stephanie can’t blame herself since she called an ambulance and stayed with him. Stephanie argues that she should’ve noticed sooner that Bobby was still in control and faked Everett re-emerging to get out of Bayview. Kayla asks if she thinks Bobby took the pills. Stephanie explains that she and Jada figured out that he had something to do with Rafe’s attack, so he must have felt cornered and like there was no other way out. Stephanie doesn’t see how any part of Everett could have done what Bobby did, wishing she was more compassionate or understanding. Kayla reminds her that he pushed her away and didn’t want her help. Stephanie points out that Everett came back just before he died and said he loved her but cries that she didn’t get a chance to say it back. Stephanie cries that she really loved him as Kayla hugs her.

Brady asks what Alex has planned next. Alex says he has no clue. Brady is sure Justin would welcome back to the Kiriakis mansion with open arms. Alex feels he has too many bad memories there as he moved in there like he did at the CEO office, thinking it was his birthright but it all belongs to Xander. Brady points out that Xander hasn’t made a move to take over the family business yet and he’s sure that Xander has complicated feelings about the truth coming out. Alex states that regardless, Xander is Victor’s son and the heir, so everything he thought was his belongs to him now.

Xander tells Fiona that he wish he knew the truth the whole time as he always thought he was the black sheep. Fiona apologizes and worries if asking for his forgiveness is too much. Xander acknowledges that he’s hurt people he loves and had to ask for forgiveness. Xander notes that he usually received it and he knows that Fiona has suffered as well. Xander talks about Fiona seemingly working hard on her sobriety, so he respects and appreciates that. Xander then tells Fiona that he forgives her. Fiona hugs him.

Kayla repeats to Stephanie that she’s so sorry she’s going through this. Kayla suggests Stephanie come stay with her and Steve for awhile. Stephanie says it’s okay as she just got settled in her apartment. Kayla doesn’t like the idea of her being alone. Stephanie assures she’ll be fine and that she knows where they are if she needs them, but it’s good for her to be independent again. Kayla had reservations about Stephanie moving back to where she lived with Chad and the kids with all those memories. Stephanie states that at least those were mostly good memories but Chad wasn’t ready to move on from Abigail. Stephanie feels that even back then, maybe part of Chad knew that Abigail might be alive.

Chad tries to figure out where the camera was in the room from the angle on the video while John remains on the phone with Marlena. Marlena tells John what a relief it is to hear his voice. Marlena says she will get on the next plane, but John tells her that won’t be necessary as he’s coming home. Marlena questions if that means this whole thing is over. John responds that he’s made his peace with Catarina’s death and he’ll tell her about it when he gets home. John says he loves her and can’t wait to see her as they hang up. Steve asks Marlena if John is okay then and what he’s doing with Jack’s phone. John thanks Jack but says he’s a little confused since they said Steve went to Greece to try to find him, so he questions what the hell they are doing looking for him here. Jack clarifies that they weren’t looking for him as Chad adds that he was the last person they expected to find. John asks what they were looking for then. Chad reveals they were looking for Abigail.

Brady knows Alex has had to do some inner soul searching like he has, but points out that Alex is still a Kiriakis with Justin as his dad which is a win. Alex agrees and says Justin has been great through this whole thing. Alex acknowledges how lucky he is for all that he has. Brady understands he’s sad, mad, and frustrated. Alex asks about Brady since he said a few weeks ago that he wasn’t interested in Theresa at all but he always felt he was protesting that a little too much. Brady responds that his head and heart have never been on the same page with Theresa, but he’s glad that his head took the lead on this one so he didn’t get too deep. Alex responds that he was submerged in the deep end. Brady declares that he’s laying off and done with women. Alex jokes about there being no chance he gets back with Kristen. Brady tells him to bite his tongue and calls Kristen the Devil, insisting Hell would freeze over before they got back together. Alex points out that Kristen is dedicated to getting back with him and that now she thinks she has a clear path. Brady declares that he and Theresa were toxic, but he and Kristen were radioactive. Alex says to forget he even mentioned it and then decides maybe he’ll take a break from women too. Brady wishes him luck with that. Alex offers to pay for the drinks but Brady says this one’s on him since he knows his wallet took a hit this week. Alex thanks Brady and says he’ll get him next time as Alex then exits the bar.

Fiona tells Xander how much this means to her. Xander calls it better for him too and jokes that it’s easier to focus his ire and resentment on one parent. Fiona understands he’s upset with Victor but points out that Victor tried to make amends too in his own way by giving Xander his fortune and wanting him to control Titan. Fiona then asks Xander when he will claims his birthright. Xander suggests maybe never, bringing up that Victor gave him the CEO job once and ripped it away from him while treating him like dirt for years. Fiona talks about Victor having high standards for himself and putting that on Xander. Xander guesses Victor is probably disappointed in him now but Fiona insists that Victor was more proud of him than he ever let on. Fiona asks what Xander has been doing since he left Titan. Xander responds that he’s been involved in a variety of ventures, most recently he owned a newspaper but he just gave up his interest in it in exchange for repairing a friendship with an old friend. Fiona questions Xander now considering rejecting running a multi-national corporation, reminding him that he has Sarah and their daughter to provide for. Xander points out that Sarah is a doctor and does fine by herself for the both of them and he’s more than happy to spend as much time as possible with Victoria since that opportunity was almost taken from him. Fiona questions him planning to be Mr. Mom and says that doesn’t sound very much like him. Xander tells her that he’s wanted to be a father for a very long time and now that he is, it’s changed him. Xander adds that Fiona doesn’t really know him anymore. Fiona argues that in the past, he put himself at a disadvantage and was self-destructive out of guilt for whatever reason. Fiona says she’s not saying this because she wants her son to be rich and powerful, but because she knows how it killed Victor to keep this secret and how he really wanted to make amends in the many ways that he failed him. Fiona adds that he may call himself Xander Cook, but he is Alexander Kiriakis and he deserves to take his rightful place at Victor’s heir. Fiona urges Xander to go claim what is his.

Stephanie tells Kayla that Chad’s jealousy over Everett hurt any chance they may have had, but admits that she was just as jealous of what Chad had with Abigail. Stephanie asks if Kayla thinks there’s really a chance that Abigail could be alive. Kayla responds that stranger things have happened in Salem, but she wouldn’t believe anything out of Clyde’s mouth. Stephanie tells Kayla that Jack and Chad are chasing down a lead now. They both hope they find answers but Stephanie worries that if they don’t and they never know, then Chad could be stuck in limbo forever.

Steve asks Marlena how John ended up in Missouri. Marlena explains that he was at the cemetery in Greece, leaving the note for Konstantin’s daughter, and then someone hit him from behind. Steve says that explains the blood on the note. Marlena adds that the last thing John remembered was being dragged away after being hit. Marlena is thankful that Jack and Chad found him but says it’s such an unlikely place.

Chad shows John the video that they had enhanced. Jack explains that Clyde claimed it proves Abigail is still alive but they can’t prove when the video was shot or if it’s even her. John argues that Clyde is just stringing them along but Chad says that doesn’t prove it’s not true. Jack talks about locating the building as every other room is empty. John agrees that this appears to be the room in the video. Jack asks how long John has been there. John guesses it’s been no more than a couple days. Jack and Chad asks if he’s seen anyone or anything that could lead them to Abigail.

Xander tells Fiona that he’s glad they talked as she’s given him a lot to think about. Fiona is grateful for his kindness and understanding. Xander says he would still like her to be there when he and Sarah get married, assuming she’s over her objection. Fiona says that she doesn’t have an objection, she just wanted to make sure he was in the right mind before such an enormous decision. Xander assures that he loves Sarah and she keeps him grounded so it’s in everyone’s best interest that they get married as soon as possible. Fiona asks what if he takes over the Kiriakis empire. Xander says that if he does, he can multi-task. Fiona agrees that he can do anything he sets his mind too. Xander thanks her for the vote of confidence. Xander adds that when he and Sarah do tie the knot, she’s free to bring a plus one.

Brady remains at Small Bar and texts Tate that he’s thinking of him and hoping he’s enjoying camp. Brady then finishes his drinks and exits the bar.

Alex goes to the Titan office and picks up his CEO nameplate, then looks at a framed photo of he and Theresa. Alex takes both the nameplate and the photo and dumps them in the trash.

Brady goes to Fiona’s room and they joke about him leaving his underwear before he made his third story descent. Fiona remarks that Xander never would’ve known if he didn’t find those. Brady asks what she told him. Fiona says she told him the truth that she met a handsome stranger who was quite charming.

Alex packs up a box at the Titan office. Xander arrives and tells Alex he’s sorry as he didn’t think anyone would be there. Alex says he’s just packing up his desk and will get out of his way. Xander says he knows this is awkward. Alex tells him that it’s not his fault or anyone’s but Theresa and Konstantin. Alex tells Xander this is all his now. Xander responds that he’s not sure it’s where he belongs. Xander offers to let Alex stay on in some capacity but he declines. Alex knows how much it upset Xander that Victor didn’t include him in his will. Xander says he just wanted what Alex had and now that he has it, he’s not sure what he’s going to do with it. Alex encourages that Xander had a good run there once, so he’s sure the company is in good hands and if he needs anything, he knows where to find him. Xander says he appreciates that. Alex then remembers he’s wearing Victor’s watch and says it belongs to Xander. Alex mentions that Maggie gave it to him for Christmas. Xander says he can’t accept that but Alex assures him that Maggie wanted Victor’s son to have it, so he hands him the watch. Alex tells Xander that he will see him around and exits the office.

Stephanie tells Kayla that she keeps thinking about how Everett followed her to Salem and now she wishes he hadn’t. Kayla tells her not to go down that path, encouraging that she was willing to wait for him and would do anything to help him get well. Kayla hates what she’s going through but is relieved she won’t be in limbo like that. Kayla tells Stephanie that she loves her and she’s so sorry as she hugs her.

Marlena tells Steve that she didn’t even ask John what Chad and Jack were doing there or why they were in Poplar Bluff. Steve bets they were looking for Abigail, acknowledging that Poplar Bluff is where Clyde Weston is from. Kayla then enters, so Steve tells her the good news that John is okay. Kayla asks where he is. Steve tells her that she’s not going to believe this.

John is afraid he’s been pretty out of it for the last couple of days as everything is just a blur. John states that someone brought food in for him when he was out cold but he didn’t see anyone come and go, so he has no idea how he got there or who has been holding him. Jack worries that he already had a head injury and they worked him over after that. John wants to wait for them to come back now but Jack argues that he needs medical attention. John says he doesn’t want them there when his captors come back but Chad declares that he’s not going anywhere. Chad says he’s going to sit around to find out who these people are and see if they know anything about the woman in the video.

Kayla is thankful that John is safe. Steve says he has so many questions for him. Marlena wants answers so she’s going home to wait for him. Kayla stops her and says there’s something about one of her patients that she should know. Kayla informs Marlena that it’s about Everett Lynch.

Alex returns to his old apartment and runs in to Stephanie in the hallway.

Xander takes his seat at the Titan CEO desk.

Fiona reminds Brady that they said earlier the third time in her bed is the charm, so she thinks this is their moment. Fiona and Brady then start kissing and undressing each other as they kiss onto the bed.

John tells Chad that he doesn’t like this idea, pointing out that Chad is unarmed and has no idea who he is dealing with. Jack agrees and tells Chad to think about his kids. Chad argues that their mother could be alive and close by. Jack wants to call the police but Chad doesn’t want to risk scaring them away. John declares that he’s staying then. Jack says no and that he’s taking John to get medical attention. Chad tells Jack to get John out and assures that he’s good. Chad says he has to do this. Jack tells Chad to be careful and to call him as soon as he knows anything. John hopes that Chad gets the answers he needs. Jack and John then exit together. Chad looks around the room and finds Abigail’s bracelet on the floor.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Stephanie, hi. I thought you were moving outta here months ago.

I-I was. But after Chad left, I decided to move back into our old apartment.

Oh.

So what are you doing here?

I’m moving back in here too.

Gabi, didn’t think you’d be back so soo–

[ominous music]

I’m trying, big brother. I’m really, really trying to stick to the tender loving care routine… to sit here and give you nothing but sisterly love and support. But you’re still not waking up. And I’m starting to get really frustrated. So I may have to move on to tough love. And you’re not gonna like that, because– because–

‘Cause she’s the toughest person I know.

[gentle music]

Burning the midnight oil?

Oh, hey. Oh, gosh, I didn’t even realize what time it was.

Mm, it looks like you’ve gotten settled into the position, Madame Commissioner.

Well, this is still Rafe’s job when he comes back.

Huh.

But I am doing my best.

Your message said there have been some new developments with Rafe’s stabbing?

Yes.

But no change in his condition?

No.

Oh. Well, can I assume that the break in the case has something to do with the suspect you told me about?

Only he’s no longer a suspect. And it has been confirmed that Everett Lynch is the one who attacked Rafe.

[door clicks open]

* Honey, I’m home * And I brought us a nice bottle of wine to share. After a long day in the DiMera salt mines, I have definitely earned this.

You’re in a good mood.

Why wouldn’t I be? They’ve identified Commissioner Hernandez’s attacker. I’ve got a good job. I’ve got you. Everything’s coming up Connie!

Good first day at DiMera, huh?

Better than good, sublime. [laughs]

Care to share?

I have to admit, I had some first day jitter.

Mm, mm-hmm.

Mm-hmm. I sometimes have difficulty fitting in with new people. I feel like I really hit it off with my coworkers. And Ava and Kristen are just fantastic bosses.

Mm, yeah. And, um, Gabi?

Gabi trusts me already. You should see how impressed she was that I showed up at the Bistro with some papers for her to sign.

Hmm. [laughs] Good for you, I guess.

And I can’t believe how much information I learned today, so much valuable information I can’t wait to use later. And I can’t believe how much more comfortable I feel right now than I did this morning.

Mm, comfortable about DiMera business or about murdering Everett Lynch?

[dark music]

Your ex-husband is the one who attacked Rafe?

He was Bobby Stein when we were married. So we think that Bobby was the one who attacked Rafe.

Oh, J-Jada, I don’t know what to say.

I didn’t want to believe it either. It wasn’t until Stephanie and I started talking. And we put the pieces together. And we realized that he might have been faking his integration.

You mean faking that he was back to being Everett.

Yeah.

Oh.

And Bobby had a very clear motive for wanting Rafe out of the picture.

Because he wanted you back.

Yeah.

And I brought him in for questioning, just like you suggested, but then when he got here, he started saying that he wasn’t feeling well. And then he–he left. I had to let him go.

You let him go?

I didn’t have enough evidence to hold him. And Stephanie decided to take matters into her own hands. And so she went to Everett’s hotel. And so I followed her there. And when we got there, we found him lying there next to a bottle of pills. He’d overdosed.

Overdosed? Is he–

He’s dead.

Oh. Oh. Oh, Lord. Jada, I’m so, so, so sorry. [Jada sniffles]

But you’re sure he’s the one who attacked Rafe?

Yeah. Yeah, there was a suicide note. And it confessed to everything. And there was… Were these.

[unsettling music]

Johnny, this is a surprise.

Yeah, just I’ve been thinking nonstop about Rafe. And just wanted to come in, check in, see how he’s doing, see how you’re doing.

Thanks. I know it would mean a lot to him that you came to see him.

[sighs] So what are the doctors saying?

Not much. They just don’t know.

Oh, that’s the worst. [monitor beeping steadily] So how are you doing?

Hanging in the best I can, I guess.

Yeah. No, I remember when my dad was in a coma. Just that–that feeling that at any moment you’re just expecting him to–to wake up. You know?

Only he never does.

I’m sorry.

[gentle music]

I just hate seeing him like this.

Yeah, me too. When I was a kid, Rafe was basically a superhero. And he was larger than life. He’d come home and he’d– he’d talk about all the bad guys that he’d caught. I felt safe because he was out there saving the world. I just couldn’t believe how lucky I was to have him as my stepfather.

As lucky as I am to have him as a big brother.

You know, he’s one of the strongest, bravest, toughest guys out there. Gabi, he’s gonna get through this, just like he always does.

He fought so hard to get me out of prison.

Yeah, him and Stefan both, right?

I’m lucky to have him too. Neither of them ever lost faith in me.

Ava. Thought you were–

Gabi? Sorry to disappoint. No, she, uh–she went to the hospital to visit her brother.

How did you know that?

Well, because your wife is very conscientious. And she alerted the office that she was going to the hospital and she wasn’t coming back in. So I decided to take this opportunity to talk to you alone.

You left Titan?

I cleared out my office this morning, yeah. Now that I’m not Victor’s son anymore, I couldn’t really make a case for keeping the CEO job. Anyway, when I was leaving and bringing all my belongings, I realized that I didn’t really want to go to the house either, or the Kiriakis mansion, rather. I just don’t feel like I belong there anymore.

So here you are.

Here I am, yeah, full circle. Although I don’t know. Things just moved so fast after Victor’s death, I never even got around to, you know, giving up the lease.

Mm. Well, good thing, huh?

Damn good thing, as it turns out. Yeah, although I haven’t been back in there since I walked out the door. The AC’s off. It’s probably , degrees inside.

[sighs] Well, I mean, my place is kind of a mess right now. So wanna go to the pub, grab a beer?

Yes. Yes, I would like that.

[soft music]

Can you explain to me why you still have those gloves?

I’m gonna take ’em down to Forensics as soon as I finish this report. And I don’t know. I guess I’m– I guess I’m still trying to make this real for myself.

I hear that. I hear that. Jada, are you all right? I mean, as if Rafe’s case wasn’t personal enough already.

No, I should have– I should have– I should have put this together sooner. I-I-I should have– I should have realized that the man that, uh–that– that–that Bobby was capable of stabbing–

Now stop. Stop. You can’t blame yourself. I mean, you had no reason to suspect that your ex was capable of this kind of violence, right?

No. But he was. And now the man that I love is– he’s lying in some hospital bed. And I don’t even know if he’s gonna wake up. I don’t know if I’m gonna ever hear his voice!

Listen, listen! Listen to me, Jada. This was not your fault. No. I’ve been there. I was with a man capable of terrible violence too.

You were?

[somber piano music]

Yes. Oh. Not Abe of course, no. No one on earth could treat me better. But my–my daughter Lani’s father, Ray, he had a terrible mean streak. He used to hit me and then make me believe that I deserved it, that I made him act that way. Took me a long time, but I finally realized I wasn’t the cause of it, just like you aren’t responsible for Bobby.

Thank you for saying that.

It’s the truth.

I guess I’m– I guess I’m still in shock. Even with the gloves right there in front of me, I just can’t believe that the man that I was married to would be capable of murder. That–that–that is not the man that I knew.

And you also never knew about his personality disorder, did you?

No. Bobby had so many secrets. I just hope that one of those secrets is not gonna cost Rafe his life.

I know Rafe loved being your stepfather too. He’d always show me pictures of you with your little jacket playing Junior G-man. [both laugh]

Yeah. Yeah, I still have that jacket somewhere. Gosh, I used to drive my dad up a wall.

Yeah, doesn’t take much to do that, does it?

No. No, unfortunately not. You know, EJ DiMera.

Mm.

Once he’s upset about something, he can hold a grudge for forever.

So I’ve noticed.

Hey, by the way, I just– I wanted to say that I’m sorry, you know, for how long he took to help you get out of prison. It was totally wrong of him to let you sit in there for something you didn’t do.

Thanks. But I have to admit, I’m a little surprised you’re being so nice to me.

Why?

Well, I did expose the truth about what your father did to Eric and Nicole.

Yeah, you did. I’m glad you did. I mean, besides keeping you in prison, my God, he was keeping my uncle Eric from his child. He was letting Nicole believe a huge lie.

Yeah, well, I have a feeling he’d say he was doing the kid a favor.

He’d be wrong. Yeah, he’d be wrong. Anyway, I just hope he’d, you know, get something out of this. Maybe he’s learned some kind of lesson. He’s definitely paid the price. He’s basically lost everyone he loves.

Even he and Stefan are on the outs. So yeah.

Yeah. Hey. Um, speaking of your husband, happy anniversary.

Thanks. That’s sweet of you to remember.

Yeah, Stefan might have hinted at your surprise. I know he wanted today to be really special for you.

Ah. Well, I am happy to report he succeeded.

Well, I’m glad to hear that.

[laughs]

Making up for, uh, lost time, I guess. You know, when–when you were in prison, he was so lonely and miserable.

Something happened at the office today.

Care to be more specific?

Okay. I could be overreacting. But I don’t know. I–

Does this has something to do with Gabi?

Sort of. It has to do with her new assistant.

Connie?

Yeah.

What about her?

Okay, well, Kristen and I, we were talking, um… about what happened between us, and Connie, she sort of walked in on it.

So the nutjob heard you?

No, I don’t know. I don’t know. Kristen–Kristen is pretty sure that she didn’t.

Oh, pretty sure?

Yeah. Look. It’s not like we could ask her, right?

Okay, what–what exactly did you say? Did you explicitly say that you and I slept together?

I believe so.

[dark music]

This is bad. This is so bad.

Okay. No. Listen, listen, listen. Connie is new. She’s new at DiMera, right? So even if she did hear a piece of the conversation, she probably has no idea what we were talking about.

Why? Why were you even talking about this in the office in the first place? The woman is Gabi’s assistant.

Yeah, I know. But she seems harmless.

I did not murder Everett Lynch. He left a suicide note, as in, he killed himself.

Except he didn’t write that note. You did, after you poisoned his coffee.

Did I?

Ya did, Connie.

Can’t get anything past you, can I?

Mm, not anymore.

Okay, I can’t help it if the perfect method just fell into my lap. I had to do it. Everett-Bobby, Bobby-Everett was going to expose me to Detective Hunter for, you know, stabbing the Commish. And the only reason I stabbed the Commish was because Everett-Bobby, Bobby-Everett was going to expose me for, you know–

Stabbing… me.

I told you, that was Stefan and Gabi’s fault. We would have been together a long time ago if it wasn’t for the two of them. But don’t worry. I’m going to make them pay for what they did. And I know exactly how.

[gentle music]

Uh, you look incredible.

Yeah, well, I am just happy not to be covered in flour.

Mm, well, how do you feel about a little, uh, sugar?

Mm.

Can’t believe that line actually worked.

Oh, no, it wasn’t the line.

Mm. [sighs]

Are you hungry? I’m sure that Cook has some leftovers from dinner.

Yeah, I ate at the hospital. Thank you.

Well, why were you at the hospital?

I went to see Rafe.

Oh, yeah. I forgot you said you were going to go do that.

Yeah.

How’s he doing?

Uh, still hasn’t woken up.

Oh.

But I saw Gabi.

Yeah, well, man, she must be really, really scared.

Scared, sad. But you know Gabi. She’s fresh outta prison, her brother’s in a coma, and she’s just powering on through, you know, tough as nails, no drowning in her sorrows for Gabi DiMera.

So how does it feel?

How does what feel?

To be unrich.

[chuckles] I’m still getting used to it, I guess. It’s not even about the money. Okay, it’s not entirely about the money. It’s more the whiplash of being Victor’s son and then not being Victor’s son.

Well, I’m sure Justin, your dad, is pretty happy to have you back.

He is. I’m happy about that too, but still.

It’s not easy having your life flipped upside down twice in less than a year.

Yeah, you could say that. But enough about me and my problems. [sighs] How are you? You told me that you and Everett broke up. I know that guy meant a lot to you.

He did.

Think there’s any chance you two might get back together?

No. No, there isn’t. Everett’s dead.

[gentle country music]

So the case against Everett Lynch is closed?

Yeah, Bobby confessed to everything in his suicide note, about him faking his personality integration to get out of Bayview and him stabbing Rafe to get him away from me.

Then it’s over.

Not exactly. See, we haven’t yet resolved who really killed Li Shin.

Right. Uh. But you told me you had a new suspect. But you didn’t say who.

Well, Bobby never told me who. He just said that it was someone other than Gil Carter. And he also claimed that he knew who attacked Rafe.

Well, he sure as hell did know, since he did it himself.

Well, yeah, right.

Could–wait. Could–could Bobby have killed Li as well?

I mean, I don’t know. I’m not ruling that out. [sighs] But it’s a possibility. But I don’t–I don’t understand why he wouldn’t just include that in his suicide note. I mean, at that point, it wouldn’t matter. And plus, I don’t know what his motive would be to kill Li Shin. As far as I know, they haven’t had any connection.

I knew working for Gabi would pay off. But even I didn’t know it would happen so quickly.

Well, what’d you do, steal her corporate credit card?

Even better. I overheard Ava talking to Kristen DiMera. And guess what they were talking about?

Oh, uh, the Cubs.

Not even close.

Uh, um, fall fashion?

Still cold.

Come on. Come on. Just tell–

Okay. Okay. Ava was saying that she slept with Stefan while Gabi was still in prison.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. That’s a turn of events, Gabi being the cheatee, as opposed to the cheater.

I thought you’d like that.

Mm-hmm.

And if Gabi finds out–

It’s gonna blow her marriage with Stefan sky-high.

You betcha.

Do you have a plan to do it?

Not yet.

[groans]

[exhales heavily] I almost dropped it today. Gabi and Stefan were having a romantic afternoon at the Bistro for their anniversary. I came to deliver Gabi some papers. And I saw the two of them being very lovey-dovey. And I came this close to giving them the ultimate gift. But in the end, I decided to keep my trap shut.

No, I mean, that doesn’t sound like you at all.

I admit I’m not usually one for delayed gratification. But I realized, this is a bomb with a long fuse. And I decided to detonate it when it will have the maximum impact.

And when’s that?

[mysterious music]

You know, Connie was here earlier, when I was with Gabi.

How did she seem?

You mean, did she seem like someone who knew I had cheated on my wife?

Okay. Okay. Why was she here? What did she want?

She wanted Gabi to sign some papers I guess you needed her to sign.

Really?

Yeah.

Because I was going to messenger those over. I did not ask her to have them signed. Oh, my– [groans] Okay, what do you think that means?

Maybe it means she’s incredibly efficient.

Oh.

Okay, I’m gonna ask you one more time.

[sighs]

Do you think she heard you?

Look, I think–

[tense music] I think that if she came here and she was acting normal, then we are safe.

That doesn’t make me feel any better. And just so you know, I told Gabi that you and I kissed two times when we were both playing our parts trying to get her out of prison.

Great. How’d she react?

She didn’t love it.

Mm.

But she understood. Can we make a new rule?

What rule?

A rule that says going forward, we don’t discuss this ever again, because it’s done, and because I can’t risk anybody hearing something that they shouldn’t, especially not Gabi.

Hey, babe, everything okay?

Yep.

Oh, how’s Rafe doing?

Same. What are you doing here, Ava?

Oh, I, um– I just–I came–

She has some papers she needs you to sign.

Yeah, I did, but, um, well, Stefan let me know that, um, your new assistant already came over and had you sign a copy. Yeah?

Yeah. I signed them and gave ’em back to her. And, you know, she hasn’t been my assistant for long, but Connie doesn’t seem like the type of person who sits around and waits for things to happen.

[soft tense music]

I admit I’m pretty anxious to reveal Stefan’s infidelity to Gabi, but I’m not in a hurry. Revenge being a dish best served cold and all that.

Hmm, but do you really have the patience to wait?

This time, I do. Because the longer that Gabi thinks her dearly devoted husband was faithful while she was in the slammer, the more delicious it’s going to be when she finds out he was tangling in the sheets with his so-called coworker.

Oh, this is gonna be ugly, especially now that Gabi and Ava are working together.

And you know what? I think I’m gonna help those two lady bosses get past their differences, learn to get along.

Oh. You want Gabi and Ava to be friends?

The closer the better, so when it all goes sour, it’ll be almost as good as what happened with Charlemagne and Cassandra.

Oh, um, I’m not sure I know who that is.

“Body & Soul”?

Uh, no, never seen it.

Your loss.

Mm.

A friend of mine got me hooked. The old episodes are on YouTube. We’ll have to schedule a binge sesh.

Sounds great.

[laughs] Anyway, how fun is it going to be watching those two bond, knowing all the time I can destroy them whenever I want? And speaking of what I want, I think it’s time for bed, don’t you?

It’s not even :.

I had a long first day at the office. And you’ve been on your feet all day.

I just–I wish there was more I could do, you know, for Rafe, for Gabi.

Well, you’re being a good friend, and that is a lot.

Doesn’t, uh– doesn’t feel like a lot.

Well, that is because you are a sensitive soul, Giovanni. And that’s what makes you such a good director.

I don’t know about that.

Yeah. Well, I do. And you’re caring. And you’re passionate. And that is what makes you a great person.

Well, if…[clears throat] I am truly such a great person, it’s only because I’m inspired by the even better person that I am lucky enough to get to share my life with.

[sweet music]

Mm, I’m sleepy now. [laughs]

Yeah, me too. But, hey, um, do you mind if I watch some videos before we call it a night? It’s for work.

Work? I thought you hadn’t started “Body & Soul” yet.

Well, I haven’t, but, uh, I found some old YouTube videos, some episodes of “Body & Soul.” And I thought I’d just, you know, watch a few of them, do some research, get a sense for the directing style.

So your work is watching TV. [laughs]

I didn’t say it was hard work.

Uh-huh. Yeah. Well, let’s watch together. I love “Body & Soul.”

Yeah?

Mm-hmm.

Okay. Let’s do it.

Okay.

[groans]

Steph, I am so sorry.

[sighs] Thanks.

Oh, my God, the guy you love just took his own life. And I’m over here complaining about losing my inheritance.

No, it’s okay. You didn’t know.

Still, that is an absolute tragedy. It’s terrible.

Yeah, especially because it seemed like he was starting to get his life together.

Do you think maybe it could have been, like, an accidental overdose?

He left a note. Well, his alter, Bobby, did.

So does that mean Bobby was the one who took the pills?

Yeah. Somehow, that makes it even worse. Look, I know it sounds strange to say. But I don’t think– I don’t think any of this is what Everett wanted. But because of this terrible disorder… He was a good person, Alex. He–he didn’t deserve this. He didn’t deserve any of this.

[sad country music] [sighs]

Oh, Jada, honey, I can only imagine how confusing and painful this whole ordeal has been.

Yeah, well, it’s not something I expected. That’s for sure.

Well, on behalf of the city, I’m grateful that there’s no longer violent criminals to let loose.

Yeah, I’m trying to take comfort in that.

Mm-hmm. You did your job, Commissioner, under the worst of circumstances.

It doesn’t feel like that. I mean, especially when you call me that. You know, Rafe should be sitting here right now. And he’s not because of a man that I brought into his life.

You know when he wakes up, he won’t see it that way. Um, you know, why don’t you just, you know, take–take the rest of the day off? Just–just go home for the day.

Okay. Is that an order?

If it has to be.

[laughs] Okay. But first I should call Gabi.

Does she know about Everett?

No, not yet.

Oof.

But I hope that she’ll find some comfort in knowing that the man that hurt her brother is off the streets.

Oof. Oh, oh. Hang in there.

[sighs]

Well, since you’ve already signed the papers, looks like I can go.

Looks like.

Yeah, well, happy anniversary, you guys.

Thank you.

Mm-hmm.

Thanks, Ava.

And, uh, I will see you at the office tomorrow.

See you there.

All right.

So those papers must be pretty important if everybody in your company is tracking you down to sign ’em.

It seems a little below Ava’s pay grade, to be honest. I hope it wasn’t too awkward when she showed up.

Awkward? No, no, she and I– [phone rings]

It’s Jada. Hey, what’s going on?

Hey, sorry to bother you on your anniversary. But can we talk for a minute?

Of course. Is it about Rafe?

Yes, it is. I got some new information. And I think it will bring you some closure.

Amazing.

Wait, wait. Pause it.

Uh, okay. What’s–what’s wrong?

Okay, so you mean to tell me that the whole time that Charlemagne was married to Exeter that he was her half brother?

Well. Okay. Look, I know it looks bad. But it turns out Exeter was switched at birth. So it’s actually all cool, I mean, relatively speaking, anyway.

Mm, are you sure “relative” is the word you want to use?

[laughs] That is, uh, an excellent point.

I’m just saying, these people live some crazy lives.

Well, are they really any crazier than the days of our lives?

Well, I mean–

I mean, hey, look. My dad’s baby, they thought he was dead. And then it turns out he was actually just adopted by Sloan and Eric, and then it turns out that he was actually Nicole and Eric’s baby after all.

Yeah.

And then if you look what my cousin Theresa did to Alex Kiriakis, I mean, letting him think he’s the heir to the Kiriakis fortune, I mean, talk about turning someone’s life upside down.

Yeah, I hope he has somebody to lean on.

Yeah.

[gentle music] [sighs]

Thanks. I, um, definitely wasn’t expecting to cry on your shoulder tonight.

I guess we’re even, since you were there for me the night my wedding absolutely exploded. Steph, I’m really sorry about Everett.

I appreciate that. And, um, it’s getting late, so we should– we should probably head back to our respective apartments.

Yeah, yeah. At least it’s convenient– being neighbors, you know? Come here, go back there, one car.

Yeah, very convenient.

All right, well, I’ll go find the waiter and take care of this check.

Oh, yeah, right.

Oh, no, no, no. Hey. It’s on me.

[sighs] Thanks.

[gentle country music]

So Bobby was pretending to be Everett all along. [monitor beeping steadily] He obviously didn’t want you around. God, I am so sorry, Rafe. I wouldn’t have believed any of this, if I hadn’t lived it. And I am so sorry. I am so sorry. [sighs] But I just– I wish I knew what he was capable of. I wish I was able to protect you. [sniffles]

[somber music]

At least now we– we have the case closed. And he’s gone. And now all I want to do, all I want to do is focus on you. I want us to focus on getting you to come back to us.

I can’t believe this, Bobby, Everett, whatever the– whatever his name is, is the one who stabbed Rafe.

At least he’s dead, though, right?

Honestly, I’m not even sure that makes me feel any better.

No? Not even a little?

First of all, it doesn’t make Rafe any more likely to wake up. And to have it happen like this, a phone call out of the blue, it just feels so– so unsatisfying. Like I’ll never get to see him brought to justice. I’ll never get to confront him face-to-face.

Okay. But at least he did pay, right? I mean, he’s dead. Justice was served in that respect. And the most important thing is, the person who hurt Rafe can never do it to anyone ever again.

[ominous music]

Bold & The Beautiful Updates

B&B logo

Update written by Brenda

Brooke and Ridge are in Monte Carlo for the Global Fashion Summit, waiting for their big “Brooke’s Bedroom” launch.

Hope goes into Steffi’s office and announces that it’s her mom’s big day. Steffi says it’s a big day for everyone because the company has poured millions of dollars into the “Brooke’s Bedroom” line. Steffi says the social media drop was good and that she hopes it won’t be a flop. Hope assures her that it won’t be a flop. Steffi says it’s been a challenging time for Forrester Creations, in large part because of the drain from “Hope for the Future.” She says she is hoping that “Brooke’s Bedroom” can turn things around.

At Poppy and Luna’s apartment, Luna wonders why Tom’s backpack is there, what the letters mean, and if Poppy drugged Tom. She demands to know if her mother killed Tom Starr to prevent Bill from finding out he might not be Luna’s father.

Zende goes to Steffi’s office and asks why she isn’t in Monaco. She says she forgot her passport. She tells Zende and Carter that she wants to discuss “Hope for the Future” after “Brookes Bedroom” drops.

Hope goes to her desk and rubs her temples while she thinks about the prospect of Steffi cutting the “Hope for the Future” line. Finn comes up behind her and puts his hands on her arms. He asks her if she wants him to work his magic.

In Monaco, the guide takes Brooke and Ridge to join the other Summit attendees. Brooke is nervous.

At the apartment, Poppy assures Luna that she is Bill’s daughter, not Tom’s. Luna notes that Poppy is evading her question. She asks again if Poppy killed Tom.

In Steffi’s office, Steffi tells Zende and Carter that while she is disappointed that she didn’t go to Monaco, it gave her time to focus on other things, like “Hope for the Future.” Zende says he and R.J. have been working day and night doing their best. Steffi says she knows that and acknowledges that they are fantastic designers, but she feels like the line has been a little chaotic lately. Carter interjects that sales have been on a downturn. Steffi says Hope promised that she would turn things around, but the last two quarters have been down. Zende admits they aren’t quite there yet and asks for a little more time. Brooke says she can’t guarantee it, but she and Carter will discuss it. They return to the topic of Brooke’s bedroom and hope the revamp is successful. Steffi wonders what is taking Finn so long to come back from taking a phone call.

In Hope’s office, Finn sees that Hope is stressed and massages her temples, neck, and shoulders. She tells him not to stop. He kisses her deeply. Katie walks in and interrupts Hope’s daydream to tell her that “Brooke’s Bedroom” is about to drop.

In Monaco, the Global Fashion Summit kicks off with Ridge introducing himself and Brooke and talking a bit about their history before turning the lectern over to Brooke.

In the apartment, Luna demands an answer. Poppy says of course she didn’t kill Tom; she would never kill anyone. She wonders how Luna could even ask such a thing. Luna asks what she is supposed to think after seeing all those letters from Tom claiming to be her father. Poppy assures Luna that Bill is her father. Luna still wonders why Tom’s backpack is in their apartment and why it was hidden out of sight. She says that the whole situation with a man from Poppy’s past showing up and ending up dead scares her.

Finn returns to Steffi’s office after his phone consultation concludes. Katie and Hope go into Steffi’s office to watch the drop. Katie tells everyone that her son Will is back in town. She compliments Zende on the social media video.

Brooke takes her turn to talk up Ridge’s fine qualities that brought them to this point. She announces that “Brooke’s Bedroom” is back, modeled by Brooke. She says age is just a number and beauty lies within, and it transcends time. She says people just need to embrace the changes in themselves, in their lives. She says life is amazing and everyone is perfectly imperfect. We are all bold. We’re all beautiful. Everyone takes out their phone to see the social media drop as Brooke counts down five… four… three… two… Brooke’s Bedroom!

At the apartment, Luna says she hates questioning Poppy, but now she is questioning everything, like why she never wanted to say who Luna’s father was. Poppy says she was protecting Luna because she didn’t know how Bill would react to having a child. Luna says Bill loves her and Poppy kept them in the dark for no reason. Poppy says she knows that now but didn’t know it back then. Luna says nothing is adding up. She asks her mother to be straight with her and tell her everything. Poppy insists that she did not kill Tom Starr. Luna asks Poppy to explain the backpack. Poppy says she has no idea how it got in their apartment. Luna concludes it didn’t appear out of nowhere. She says Poppy has done drugs in the past and the deaths at Il Giordino were drug overdoses. She says that even Katie accused Poppy. Poppy says Katie was wrong and Tom was also wrong to have insisted that he was Luna’s father. Poppy says she knows Luna is upset, scared, and confused, and she is too, but that Luna has to believe her when she says she had nothing to do with those deaths. Poppy tells Luna that they can’t talk about this to anybody. It has to stay their secret.

The “Brooke’s Bedroom” video promotion launches on social media and billboards around the world simultaneously.

In Monte Carlo, Brooke says she is accustomed to launching the lines on the runway. She wonders if everyone will see the video. Ridge assures her that everyone will see it. He says that right now is about celebrating Brooke. He says he is proud of her and lucky to have her.

Someone in the distance concealing their identity under a black scarf watches Brooke and Ridge as they kiss.

Transcript provided by Thane

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

All I want is for us to be on good terms again, to possibly have a relationship, a fresh start. Xander, you’re my son. And I love you. So please tell me you believe me. Tell me you can find it in your heart to forgive me.

[soft stirring music]

What the hell is that?

Whose knickers are these?

Go out the bathroom window.

We’re three stories up.

Yes, you look very fit. I’m sure you’ll be fine. Now go! Oh. Oh, oh. Here, here. How do you know they’re not mine? Okay, fine. As you seem to have surmised, Mumsie had a little dalliance last night.

Really? Even though the only man that you know in this town is me?

Mm, that was true until I met a handsome stranger in that delightful bakery, Naughty Bits.

Sweet Bits.

Oh, yes. Right. Well, anyway, he and I bonded over beverages. Our lattes got mixed up, and he returned mine, and I returned his.

And before you knew it, you were swapping more than lattes.

[laughs] What can I say? He was a very charming gentleman.

Well, maybe I know him. What’s this charming gentleman’s name?

[tense music]

[upbeat music]

What’s up, cuz? How’s it goin’?

Oh, Alex. Hey, man.

You mind a little company?

Actually, uh–

Oh, come on. Nobody likes drinkin’ alone. [groans] Although that’s exactly what I’d be doing if I didn’t find you sittin’ here right now. Last few days knocked me on my ass, as you can imagine.

Yeah, I know.

You know. Thinkin’ I was Victor’s son, CEO of Titan, heir to the fortune, marrying the woman I love, only to have her screw me right over. As, I’m guessing, she also did to you.

I think you know the answer to that one.

Yeah. Actually, I do. Which is why I’m also guessing why you’re back on the bottle. Am I right?

[mysterious music]

Baby. Oh–oh, my goodness. What–what’s going on?

I-I-I came in– I came in with Everett.

Everett? Well, what happened? Is everything all right?

You haven’t heard. Mom… Everett’s dead.

What?

Uh, Steve, wait a minute. Wait a minute. You need to tell me what’s going on here. Did John not come back from Greece with you?

He didn’t.

Well, then where is he?

I’m sorry, Marlena. I’m afraid John is missing.

Did you hear that?

Someone’s in there.

Okay, let’s call the police.

Okay. No, no, no. If Abby’s behind that door, I’m not wastin’ another second.

What–

Move, Jack.

All right. Oh, my God.

John?

I’m so sorry, Marlena. I shouldn’t have kept you in the dark.

Well, wh–when I– when I saw you here, I assumed you had found him.

I wish I had. But when I finally found Catharina’s grave and then the blood–

So what you’re saying is, not only do you not know where he is, you don’t even know if he’s alive.

[mysterious music]

John? John. Hey, hey.

Hey, John, it’s Chad. How badly are you hurt?

I’ve been worse.

Well, what are you doing here?

Ah, I could ask you two the same question.

Yeah, well, let’s focus on you.

Hey, Steve’s looking for you in Greece.

So I’m not in Greece?

No.

All right. So where the hell am I?

Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Missouri? How the hell did I get here? And what the hell are you two doing here?

Baby, I– I didn’t even know that Everett was brought in tonight.

That’s because they took his body straight to the morgue. He died in his hotel room.

What happened?

He OD’d on some pills.

Pills?

Digoxin.

A cardiac medication? Well, what did he– was it an accidental overdose?

No, Mom. He left a note.

It’s okay, baby.

He was still alive when Jada and I got there. I watched him die. I know you’re used to seeing death every day, but I’ve never– [sniffles]

I know. I know. I’m sorry, so sorry.

Everett took his life because he was in so much pain. And I can’t help feeling like I let him down, like I didn’t do enough to save him.

Baby.

I doubt you know the gentleman with whom I spent the night. And for the record, this is a very uncomfortable conversation to be having with one’s son.

Agreed. So I’ll just give you these, in case the very charming gentleman decides to claim them.

Why are you looking at me like that? Men have casual sex all the time, and no one so much as bats an eyelid. Is your judgment because I’m your mother, or simply because I’m a woman?

I’m not judging you, Mom, at least not about that. Actually, look, can we just change the subject?

Hmm, excellent idea. As I was saying, Xander, I know how devastated you were when I disappeared out of your life. But you need to know it was truly not by choice. And I’ve dedicated years to working on my sobriety and improving my mental health. My motivation has always been the hope that one day I might have the opportunity to be the mother that you so deserve. So I need to know that you believe what I’ve told you is the truth.

I believe you.

Xander, that makes me so happy, so happy. And does that mean that you forgive me?

No, no drinking. This is just club soda.

Oh, what a relief. I was going to have to call little Maggie on you. Still going to your meetings?

Yeah, Alex, I’m going to meetings. But hey, I’m not about to discuss sobriety with a man who’s got scotch on his breath.

Oh, touché. I am glad it wasn’t Theresa that drove you to drink, though.

Yeah. I’ve been tempted. I can tell you that.

Man, I thought I was the chosen one. In reality, I’m just another loser, not even worth a mention in Victor’s will.

[clears throat]

No offense.

None taken. Well, hell, to the losers.

Hey, losers tonight, winners in general. And to Theresa. If I never see that woman again, it will be too soon.

We better call Marlena. She needs to hear your voice so she knows you’re okay.

Oh, I got nothing–

That’s all right.

Yeah. Yeah, yeah.

Thanks, Jack. [phone ringing]

Jack, this isn’t a good time.

It’s me, Doc.

Oh, John. John, are you all right?

Yeah, I’m fine.

Oh, I-I’m– I’m here with Steve. He said that he went to Catharina’s grave. And he found your letter with blood on it. Tell me what’s going on. What is happening there?

Sweetheart, you cannot blame yourself with anything about Everett. You–you called an ambulance. You stayed with him.

I should have realized sooner that Bobby was still in control. He faked his re-emergence to get out of Bayview.

You think it was Bobby who took the pills?

Jada and I figured out that he had something to do with the attack on Rafe. So Jada questioned him. And he felt cornered. He must have felt there was no other way out. I just don’t see how Everett, any part of him could have done what Bobby did. God, Mom, maybe if I’d been more compassionate, more understanding.

Would you stop? Stop right there. He pushed you away. He did not want your help.

That was Bobby talking. And Mom, after he took the pills just before he died, Everett came back, and he told me that he loved me. But I didn’t get a chance to say it back.

Baby, baby, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.

And I loved him too, Mom. I really did.

It’s okay. It’s all right. It’s okay.

So you–you know what you’ve got planned next?

Not a clue, my man. Never close out the lease at the old apartment, though. So I might crash there.

I’m sure Justin would welcome you with open arms back to the mansion.

Yeah. Sure. Maybe. The place just has too many bad memories for me now. I moved back in there thinking it was going to be my new home. And, you know, just like I did at the nice, plush corner CEO office at Titan, and I thought it was all my birthright, being the favorite bastard son of the great Victor Kiriakis. Turns out that doesn’t belong to me.

Nope, belongs to Xander, who has not made a move to take over the family business as of yet.

Yeah, maybe that’s because I haven’t given it up yet.

Alex, I don’t think that’s going to stop him if that’s what he wants. I’m sure Xander has some very complicated feelings about the truth coming out, you know.

Yeah, maybe his feelings are complicated. But the facts are not. Xander is Victor’s son and heir, and everything that I thought was mine belongs to him now.

I just wish I’d known the truth from the beginning. My whole life, I believed I was just the black sheep son of black sheep Titus, shoveling black sheep manure, figuratively and literally.

I’m so sorry, Xander. In AA, they tell us to make amends to the people we’ve harmed, but perhaps asking for your forgiveness is asking too much.

I’ve also deeply hurt the people I love. And I’ve had to ask for more than my fair share of forgiveness. And more often than not, I’ve– I’ve received it. And I know that you suffered too for this lie, mom. But you went to treatment, and you’ve worked really hard, apparently, on your sanity and your sobriety. And I respect that, and I really appreciate it. So yes, I forgive you.

[tense music]

Oh, my goodness. I am so sorry you’re going through this. Listen, baby. I have an idea. Why don’t you come back and stay with me and your dad for a while? You know we would love it.

No, it’s okay. I just got settled back in my old apartment.

I know. But I just don’t like the idea of you being home alone.

I’ll be fine. I know where you are if I need you.

Yeah.

And it’s good for me to be independent again.

Yeah. Well, I had reservations about you moving back to that place, where you’d been with Chad, and his kids, and all those memories.

At least they were good memories, mostly. Chad just wasn’t ready to move on from Abigail.

Yeah.

Even back then… Maybe there was a part of him that knew that she might be alive.

Unless we were the cameras hiding, based on the angle of the video, it’s the only place it could be.

Oh, John, you have no idea what a relief it is to hear your voice. I’m getting on the next plane.

Not necessary. I’m coming home.

Oh. Listen, does this mean the whole thing is over?

I’ve made my peace with Catharina’s death, Doc. I’ll tell you about it when I get home. I love you. Miss you. Can’t wait to see you.

All of the above.

So John’s okay? Where is he? What’s he doing with my brother?

Thanks, Jack.

Mm-hmm.

You know, I’m a little confused. You said Steve went to Greece to try to find me. So what the hell are you two doing looking for me here?

We weren’t looking for you. You were the last person we expected to find.

So who are you looking for?

Abigail.

Look, Alex, I know you probably did a lot of inner soul searching recently. I know I have. But you’re still a Kiriakis, right? You found out Justin’s your dad. I mean, that’s a win, right?

Definitely. Justin, my dad, he’s been great through this whole thing, man. And look, I know how lucky I am to have all that I have. I’m just–

Sad, mad, frustrated. Trust me, I get all of it.

Yeah. How about you, man? I mean, you told me a few weeks ago you weren’t interested in Theresa at all. But I always had a feeling you were always protesting that a little too much.

All right. Me and Theresa, here’s the deal. My head and heart have never been on the same page with her. I’m just glad that my– my head took the lead this time, so I didn’t get in too deep with her.

Yeah. Well, I happen to have been completely submerged in the deep end.

You know what I’m doing? I’m laying off women. Done.

Oh, yeah? No–no chance of getting back with old Kristen?

Bite that tongue.

Oh, that woman is the devil.

Yes, she is. And that’s why hell is going to freeze over before I get together with her.

I don’t know.

Not gonna.

She’s dedicated to getting back with you.

Yeah, I’m well aware of that.

And now she thinks she’s got like a clear path. For sure.

Alex, let me draw this out. Theresa and I, toxic, right? Kristen and I, radioactive.

Hey, okay. Okay, okay. All right, forget it. Forget I even mentioned it. All right. Who knows? Maybe I’ll even take a little break from women.

That’s it. Yeah, that’s going to happen soon.

Yeah.

Yeah. Good luck with that.

Some things are easier than others. Bad habits are hard to break.

Hey, put–put the wallet away.

Oh, come on.

This is on–this is on me. I know your wallet took a little hit this week.

You know what? Thank you.

You’re welcome.

All right. I got you next time. Yeah, drink up.

See you, bud.

I’ll see you.

Xander, you don’t know how much this means to me.

Well, it’s better for me too. So much easier to focus all of my ire and resentment on one parent, you know.

You’re upset with Victor. I know. And how could you not be? But darling, he tried to make amends too, in his own way. He gave you his fortune. He wanted you to control Titan. By the way, when do you think you’re going to claim your birthright?

I don’t know, maybe never.

Why not?

Look, Victor gave me that CEO job once. And then he ripped it away from me. The guy treated me like dirt for years.

He’s always had very high standards for himself. And I’m sure he imposed those same standards on you, because he wanted to push you to be equally successful.

Mm-hmm. And wherever he is, he must be terribly disappointed.

I’m sure that’s not true. Victor was more proud of you than he ever let on. So tell me what you’ve been doing since you left Titan.

Oh, well, I– I’ve been involved in a variety of ventures, both licit and illicit. Most recently, I owned half of a newspaper, although I gave up my interest in it just the other day.

In exchange for what?

Repairing a relationship with an old friend.

How very noble of you. And now you’re considering rejecting the offer of running a multinational corporation? Don’t you have a fiancée, and a beautiful baby girl to provide for?

I mean, yeah. But Sarah is a doctor. She does just fine all by herself for both of us. And when it comes to Victoria, well, I’m more than happy to spend as much time with her as possible.

Is that a dig at me?

No, Mom. I-it’s just the truth about the kind of parent I want to be. I know that the opportunity was taken from you.

So now you’re going to be Mr. Mom. Doesn’t sound very like you, Xander.

I’ve wanted to be a father for a long time. And now that I am, and I’m loved by a good woman, it’s changed me. You don’t really know me anymore, Mom.

I do know that in the past, you have put yourself at a disadvantage– been self-destructive, if you will, out of guilt, or for whatever other reason. And I–believe me. I’m not saying this because I want my son to be rich and powerful. I’m saying it because Xander, I know how it killed Victor to keep this secret, how he really wanted to make amends for all the many ways in which he had failed you. You may call yourself Xander Cook, but you are Alexander Kiriakis. And you deserve to take your rightful place as Victor’s heir. So go, claim what’s yours.

Chad’s jealousy of Everett– that really hurt any chance that Chad and I had. And if I’m being honest, I was just as jealous of what Chad had with Abigail. Do you think there’s really a chance she could be alive?

Well, I think that stranger things have happened here in Salem. But I will say I would not believe anything that comes out of Clyde Weston’s mouth.

Chad and Uncle Jack are chasing down a lead.

Well, I hope they find the answers, one way or the other.

I do too. But what if they don’t? What if they never do? Chad could be stuck in limbo forever.

How did John end up in Missouri?

Well, he was in the cemetery in Greece, leaving the note for Konstantin’s daughter.

The one I found.

Yeah. And then–and then someone hit him from behind.

That explains the blood on the note.

The last thing he remembers is being dragged away before he blacked out.

Well, did he see who did it, who attacked him?

No. But thank God Jack and Chad found him. I mean, it was such an unlikely place.

Thanks, Jack.

So here’s the video. We had it enhanced.

Clyde claims that it proves that Abigail is still alive. But we don’t know when the thing was shot.

Yeah, we can’t even tell if it’s her.

Well, you know, he’s stringing you along, right? It’s his MO.

Well, it doesn’t mean it isn’t true.

No, I suppose it doesn’t.

We located this place by identifying, locating the billboard outside. Every other apartment in this place is empty.

And look, it looks like the same room, doesn’t it?

Well, judging by the angle of this video, I’d say, yeah, this is the room.

Okay. How long have you been here?

I don’t know. I’d have to say no more than a couple days.

Have you seen anyone?

Or anything that can lead us to Abby?

I’m–I’m glad we talked. You’ve given me a lot to think about.

Xander, I am so grateful for your kindness and your understanding.

I would still like for you to be there when Sarah and I get married, assuming you can get over your objection.

I don’t have an objection. I just wanted to make sure you were in the right frame of mind to make such a huge decision.

Well, I love Sarah. She’s the one that keeps me grounded and sane. So it’s in everyone’s interest that I marry her as soon as possible.

And if you take over the Kiriakis empire?

And if I do, I can multitask.

Of course you can. You can do anything you set your mind to. I’m sure of that.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Mom. And when Sarah and I do tie the knot, feel free to bring a plus one. [phone beeping]

I had a feeling you’d be back.

[chuckles]

Forgot something?

Yeah. Actually, you forgot to throw these at me with the rest of my clothes when I made my escape out the third story window.

Yes. And how was your descent?

Dicey. But I’m fine, as you can see.

Well, Xander would have never known anyone was here if he hadn’t found your skivvies.

Skivvies. Skivvies, I like that. I like that. What’d you tell him?

I told him the truth– that I met a handsome stranger who I found quite charming.

I’m flattered. But if you don’t mind, I think I’m going to– I got to put these back on, actually.

Well, as a matter of fact, I do mind. I mind very much.

Alex, sorry. I didn’t think anyone would be here.

Oh, it’s–no, no, I was just cleaning up my desk. I’ll get out of your way.

It’s no worries. I know, it’s just awkward.

No, it’s not your fault. It’s not anybody else’s fault either, other than Theresa and Konstantin. This is all yours now.

Yeah, I’m just not sure if all this is where I belong.

Yeah.

Well, Alex, if you want to stay on in some capacity, I–

No, thank you.

Are you sure?

I am sure. You know, Xander, I know how much it upset you that Victor didn’t include you in his will.

Oh, I just wanted what you had. Now that I’ve got it, God knows what I’m going to do with it.

Well, you had a good run here once. So I’m sure the company is in good hands. And if you need anything, you know where to find me.

I appreciate that.

Sure. Uh, I almost forgot. It’s Victor’s watch. This belongs to you. Maggie gave it to me for Christmas.

I can’t accept that.

Xander, Maggie wanted his son to have it. That’s you. I’ll see you around.

I keep thinking about how Everett followed me here to Salem. How I wish he hadn’t.

Baby, don’t go down that path, all right? Look, you were willing to wait for him. You would do anything to help him to get well. And listen, I am– I am really sorry about what happened to him. But I’m also relieved that you won’t be stuck in limbo like that. Baby, baby, baby. I just love you so much. Come here. Come here, oh, baby. Oh, my gosh. I’m so sorry. I-I love you.

You know, I didn’t even ask John what Jack and Chad were doing there. Why–why were they in Poplar Bluff?

I bet they were looking for Abigail. Poplar Bluff is where Clyde Weston is from.

Hey.

Sweetness, got good news.

Oh.

John is okay.

What? Where is he?

Baby, you’re not going to believe this.

I’m afraid that I’ve been pretty out of it the last couple of days here. Everything is just a blur.

Yeah.

Someone, they brought in food for me when I was out cold. But I didn’t see anybody come or go. I don’t–I have no idea how I got here, or who’s holding me here.

Well, you probably already had a head injury. And it looks like they worked you over pretty well after that.

Yeah. Well, I’ll tell you what, Jack. When they come back, I will properly thank them for their hospitality.

No, no, no. I don’t think–we’re not sticking around for that. And you need medical attention.

Oh, yeah. On second thought, you’re right. Besides, I don’t want you two here when my captors come back.

What do you mean? No, I’m not going anywhere.

What?

No, I’m going to sit around and find out who these people are, see if they know anything about the woman in that video.

Wow. Wow. Thank God John is safe.

And I have so many questions for him.

I want to get some answers. I’m going to go home and wait for him.

Wait, before you go, there’s something about one of your patients you should know.

All right, which patient?

Everett Lynch.

Didn’t we say earlier that the third time in my bed is a charm?

We did.

Well, then Brady, I think this is our moment.

Maybe. [chuckling]

No, no, no, no, no, no, Chad. I don’t like this idea, Chad. And I’m going to tell you why. Number one, you’re unarmed. You don’t have a weapon. And number two, you have no idea who you’re dealing with.

I agree. I agree with John. Think about Thomas and Charlotte.

That’s what I am thinking about. Their mother could be alive and close by.

Look, let’s just call the police, all right?

No, I don’t want to risk scaring them away.

All right. Then I’m staying with you.

No, no you’re not. You’re not. You’re not. I’m giving you some immediate medical attention, all right?

Get him out of here. I’m good.

Chad.

Jack, you know I have to do this.

All right. All right. You be careful. You call me as soon as you know anything.

I hope you get the answers you need.

This is Abigail’s.

Abe: Your assistant said you were willing to talk
Marlena: Well, I’m always willing to talk

Connie (to Bobby): I know this. I got a perfect record. Whenever I commit a crime, I get away with it.

Stephanie: Eavesdropper. Do you ever get tired of sneaking up on people?
Leo: Are you kidding? It’s a gift and when it’s about Mr. Everett Lynch, I smell a story or at least something that could have a negative impact on me.

Connie: You’re the one who wanted a favor in exchange for keeping your mouth shut about me.
Bobby: Yeah, a favor not a murder.
Connie: What did you think I was going to do when I said I would get rid of him? Gift him a cruise around the world?

Bobby (to Connie): Try not to murder anyone else.

Hattie: You will not regret it.
Kate: I already do.

Days Nitpicks & Flubs For The Week Of July 29, 2024

Nitpicks & Flubs

by Michele & Cheryl

Tate

Monday

Tate was talking while Theresa was on screen.

Tate was upset when he found out about his mother. If he weren’t scheming to be with Holly, he would have known what she did.

How is Holly able to get back and forth to the Horton cabin without anyone knowing that she went.

Why didn’t Roman include Marlena in his plans to throw Eric and Nicole a going away party? She might have wanted to help throw the party too.

Nicole had a pocketbook with her one minute, and it was gone the next.

Tuesday

No one ever sees Connie walking around. She doesn’t attempt to hide, but no one sees anything.

Stephanie thought Leo would keep her secret from getting out. He told her that he needed content for his article so why would he keep her secret quiet?

Bobby threatened Connie. He heard her say that she never gets caught, so why would he threaten her?

Connie knows too much about Bobby’s life considering they didn’t know each other before she approached him about killing Li.

Wednesday

Leo managed not to hear Connie in Bobby’s room. She was talking loud, but he managed not to hear her.

Stephanie didn’t have to refer to Leo by his full name. Jada should know who Leo is, so she didn’t have to call him by his full name.

Jack claimed that Jennifer knew that he and Chad dug up Abby’s body. It’s not likely that she wouldn’t have come back to Salem to help find her.

Jada called Rafe “Detective Hernandez.” He is the commissioner of the police department.

Connie conveniently heard Ava talking about sleeping with Stefan. Ava wasn’t talking loud, but Connie managed to hear her.

Thursday

Jada and Stephanie didn’t call for help right away. They basically just watched Bobby before they tried to get him help.

The pill bottle that was on Bobby’s nightstand was closer to the pillow in Wednesday’s episode, but it was closer to Jada in Thursday’s episode.

Ava didn’t hear Connie talking about her sleeping with Stefan, and she was in the same room with her. Connie conveniently heard Ava talking about her affair, and she wasn’t in the room. Ava wasn’t talking loudly at all when Connie heard her.

It took the paramedics a long time to get to Bobby.

Stephanie cried without any tears.

Friday

Marlena said that they invited Brady to Eric’s going away party, but she wasn’t part of the plan. When did she invite Brady to the party?

Marlena said she didn’t hear from Brady, but he told her that he was at the office. She obviously heard from him after all.

Xander managed not to hear Fiona and Brady talking in her room. Fiona was talking loud when she wanted Brady to sneak out her room.

Marlena

Days Opinion For The Week Of July 29, 2024

Opinion Article

by Michele & Cheryl

Eric and Nicole

Nicole and Eric had their going away party this week. We may be alone here, but we aren’t upset that they are leaving. The writers also squandered an opportunity to finish Nicole’s story properly. Arianne Zucker’s departure has been announced for months so they had time to write a proper farewell to a actress who has been with the show for 25 years. With that said, Nicole didn’t find out what Holly did. Holly snuck to the Horton cabin to be with Tate. She’s been spending time with him, and it happened right under Nicole’s nose. Where’s the confrontation and pay off for that? Why did Holly get to decide that she was staying in Salem? Nicole is the parent and she let. 17 year old child tell her that she wasn’t going with her. Is Nicole that much of a wimp? She should have made Holly go with her. Nicole didn’t seem too disappointed by it since she could focus on her life with Eric and Jude. She only cares about her child with Eric. Nicole has the little family she always wanted so she is fine to leave. We know that Arianne Zucker and Greg Vaughn were written out, but the writers could have written a better story than that. It was a slap in the face for someone who spent so many years on the show.

What are the writers thinking with the Body and Soul storyline? They are wasting time having Kate and Abe involved in this soap within a soap storyline. This is not the comic relief we need right now. We know it’s an excuse to give Diedre Hall something else to do. Unfortunately, we don’t need to see Hattie again. She’s not an integral character on the show so we don’t need her back. Diedre Hall probably enjoys playing her to get a break from Marlena, but she’s a waste of a character. We would rather the writers give Abe and Kate better stories than this.

Speaking of a waste of characters, when are the writers getting rid of Connie? She is getting shoved down our throats. Connie killed Li and Bobby. The writers put her in the middle of two stories for no reason. She always hears everything no matter what. Connie has great timing to hear things that other people say no matter how close they are. Other people can’t hear conversations when they are practically in the room with other characters. Now she has killed Bobby. He’s a useless character too. We’re not upset that he’s gone. There was no need to write his character into the show. He was another useless character who provided anything to the show. His character was written out and looked like a killer. Who knows when Connie will get caught for what she did.

Marlena might have to reconsider her career. She didn’t notice that Bobby was pretending to be Everett. Marlena was the one who allowed him to check out because she believed he was Everett. She is supposed to be a great psychiatrist, but she didn’t realize that he was faking. It might be time to do something else with her life if she couldn’t tell he was lying to get out of Bayview.

Why do the writers keep having Brady spiral out of control? How many times do we have to see him fall off the wagon? We know that people get weak, but he always falls off the wagon. It feels like that’s the only story the writers know how to give him. Now he’s hooking up with Fiona. He’s hooking up with Xander’s mother because of Theresa. Brady wasn’t with Theresa, so it didn’t make sense for him to fall off the wagon because of her. We feel like the writers don’t know what to do with Brady anymore.

Days Update Friday, August 2, 2024

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Kayla calls Steve from her office, leaving a message that she knows it’s late in Greece but she hasn’t heard from him and wants to hear his voice. Steve then appears in her office and says he’ll do her one better.

Paul meets Marlena at the Brady Pub. Paul hoped John would be with her. Marlena responds that he’s still in Greece. Paul says that’s too bad since Andrew is wrapping things up with Theresa, so he was hoping to see John before they left. Paul asks if she has any idea when John will be back. Marlena says no as she hasn’t spoken to him in awhile but says that Steve is over there so she’s sure he is looking out for him just fine. Marlena then tells Paul that she’s a little more worried about his brother, Brady.

Brady comes out from the shower in Fiona’s hotel room at the Salem Inn. Brady looks around the room and remarks that they really went to town.

Sarah is at home on the phone, being informed that Fiona has not checked out of the Salem Inn yet. Sarah thinks back to talking to Xander about inviting his mom to their wedding. Xander comes home and informs Sarah that their daughter’s kidnapper has turned herself in. Sarah is surprised that Theresa did the right thing. Xander says it’s only because he had the police breathing down her neck. Sarah asks if Andrew is still trying to work out a plea deal. Xander responds that there’s no way she will avoid prison now. Sarah wants to put it all behind them and focus on rescheduling their wedding. Xander says the sooner, the better. Sarah hopes they can do it before his mom flies back home.

Chad and Jack arrive in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Jack hopes this isn’t just a wild goose chase. Chad notes that Clyde could be lying, but if Abigail is alive, it makes sense that Clyde would stash her in his hometown so now they just have to figure out her location.

Xander questions Sarah being so eager for Fiona to attend their wedding when Fiona said that she wasn’t sure he should even be getting married right now. Sarah says that’s just because she thinks of him processing everything, not because of her. Xander calls Sarah the best thing to ever happen to him. Sarah thinks Fiona is just worried about him, noting that it is a lot for Xander to find out he is Victor’s son and come in to all that money. Sarah adds that Fiona flew all this way for a wedding so it’d be nice to do it while she’s still in town. Xander questions if she is still in town. Sarah confirms that she found out Fiona hasn’t checked out of the Salem Inn which means there’s still time for Xander to go work things out with her. Xander questions her assuming he would want to. Sarah calls it the right thing to do and points out that Fiona is Victoria’s grandmother so she thinks it would be good for them to have a relationship and mend fences. Xander reluctantly agrees while Sarah insists that he won’t regret it.

Fiona tells Brady that when she invited him over for a drink, she wasn’t expecting a 24 hour bender. Brady says he wasn’t either. Fiona talks about Brady really knocking them back and she wasn’t sure that she could even keep up with him. Brady blames it on the interaction he had with Theresa. Brady says he thought they were on the path to reconciling but yesterday was the nail in that coffin. Brady assures Fiona that he doesn’t have a single regret as he needed to drown his sorrows and calls her a hell of a drinking partner. Fiona reminds Brady that no one can know about this. Brady agrees not to tell if she doesn’t.

Marlena tells Paul that Brady isn’t answering his phone or responding to texts. Marlena explains that they were trying to reach Brady to invite him to Eric’s going away party, but he never came home last night and it’s not the only time that’s happened recently. Marlena wonders if Brady has been keeping secrets.

Kayla is happy to see Steve but questions him not telling her that he was on his way back. Steve calls it last minute and says he came right to her after he landed. Kayla asks how Greece was, if he found John and if John came back with him. Steve reveals that John did not come back with him. Kayla questions why John stayed in Greece. Steve explains that when he got there, he tried reaching out to John several times but he wasn’t responding so he went to the cemetery where Konstantin’s daughter was buried. Steve notes that he found fresh flowers on the grave with a note from John that said he felt tremendous guilt for taking her life and how he didn’t think he’d ever be able to forgive himself. Kayla argues that John was brainwashed so none of this was his fault. Steve says that John still doesn’t see it that way. Kayla asks if he was able to talk to John about it. Steve then reveals that he still doesn’t know where John is.

Paul asks Marlena if it’s possible that Brady is seeing someone new and doesn’t want to talk about it. Marlena insists that Brady knows she would be happy if he found someone because she worries about him being lonely. Marlena mentions that Brady texted about sleeping at the office so Paul encourages that he must just be very busy creating a new line at Basic Black. Marlena doesn’t think that’s it. Paul asks if she doesn’t think Brady is telling the truth about being in the office. Marlena responds that Brady has been in a funk lately about Theresa. Marlena notes that was a very toxic relationship and she thinks after what happened, he could be in trouble.

Fiona notes that Brady mentioned before that he’s supposed to be sober. Brady admits he hadn’t had a drink in a couple of years and all this stuff with his ex-wife got in his head. Brady says he’d usually go to a meeting but he wasn’t in the mood. Fiona feels meetings are tedious and make her want to drink more. Brady sometimes finds the meetings useful and helpful but says you have to go with the right attitude. Fiona jokes that they didn’t do him much good. Brady admits that relapsing was not in his plans but repeats that he has no regrets. Fiona points out that she’s doing just fine and says some may say she’s a functioning alcoholic but the key word is functioning. Brady questions the secrecy. Fiona explains that she has to pretend to be completely sober or she won’t have any chance of getting back in Xander’s good graces.

Xander reminds Sarah that his mom lied to him for his entire life so he might not be ready to forgive her just because she showed up in Salem for their wedding that didn’t happen. Sarah understands that Fiona has to earn back his trust but she thinks she’s willing to try, so she hopes that he gives her that chance. Sarah insists that Fiona is trying since she is sober and committed to that. Xander questions Sarah going to bat for her. Sarah talks about relating to being a mother now and wanting a relationship with her child. Xander assures that Sarah is ten times the mother that Fiona will ever be. Xander then agrees to go see Fiona and says maybe she’ll surprise him.

Jack and Chad go looking for the billboard they saw in the video and try to match it up to find the location. Chad talks about trying to find which building has the same vantage point which Jack notes may be easier said than done. They decide on a direction and go to get started.

Maggie brings Sarah baby clothes for Victoria. Sarah mentions just putting her down for a nap. Maggie offers to come back another time but Sarah asks her to stay and says she’ll make them some tea so they can catch up. Sarah assumes that Maggie heard about Theresa turning herself in. Maggie reveals that she’s actually the one who drove Theresa to the police station since she asked her to because she was afraid that she would back out if someone didn’t go with her. Maggie admits part of her respects the fact that Theresa is finally taking responsibility for her actions. Maggie talks about still pulling for Theresa. Sarah reminds Maggie that Theresa kidnapped her grandchild. Maggie assures she’s still very angry with her but she can’t help but feel for her since she seemed truly remorseful. Sarah tells her not to expect that kind of grace from Xander because he’s so angry that he wants Theresa to fry and she can’t blame him since Theresa completely screwed with his life. Maggie understands and asks where Xander is. Sarah reveals that at her urging, he went to go see his mom.

Brady tells Fiona that he should change and get out of her hair. Fiona points out that it’s getting close to dinner time and suggests he stay to have room service again and he couldn’t even stay the night. Brady thanks her for the offer but doesn’t think that’s a good idea. Brady asks her again if nothing happened between them last night. Fiona confirms that for a second time but jokes that perhaps the third time is the charm. Xander then knocks on the door, calling out that he knows his mom is in there and asks her to open up, leaving Fiona and Brady worried inside.

Paul tells Marlena that she’s right that Brady was pretty upset about Theresa and Alex getting married as he left the wedding as soon as they tied the knot. Marlena asks if he knows where he went. Paul says he apparently went to a meeting so Marlena worries that means Brady was tempted to drink. Marlena is glad that Brady went to a meeting but wishes he contacted her. Paul asks if he’s done that in the past. Marlena confirms he has since they are very close and Brady knows she will be there for him. Marlena wonders if there’s been a red flag and asks if Paul noticed any questionable behavior. Paul then thinks back to when he first came back to town and walked in on Brady with a bottle of alcohol.

Kayla questions Steve saying that John is missing. Steve says he sure couldn’t find him but he did find out where he stayed. Steve notes that the hotel manager says John never checked out but he hadn’t been back to his room in days. Steve then reveals that he took John’s note and there was blood on it which the ISA confirmed is a match for John’s. Kayla says they all know how despondent he has been over Catarina’s death. Steve doesn’t think John would harm himself but notes there were no reports of unidentified bodies. Kayla wonders what could’ve happened to John. Steve admits he’s leaning towards foul play. Kayla asks what Marlena said but Steve admits he hasn’t told her yet.

Marlena tells Paul that she asked him a question and asks if he noticed anything unusual about Brady’s behavior. Paul thinks back to Brady telling him he wasn’t going to drink and that he just had a weak moment. Paul responds that he knows Brady has been going through a lot but to the best of his knowledge, he hasn’t been drinking which Marlena calls a relief. Marlena says that with John out of town, she worries about Brady and Paul so much. Paul gets her concern and declares that he will track down Brady to make sure he’s okay. Paul bets he can still catch him at work. Marlena asks him to let her know if he learns anything at all. Paul agrees to do so and hugs her. Marlena thanks Paul and says they miss him so much. Marlena adds that she will let him know immediately if she hears from John as Paul then exits the Pub.

Fiona worries to Brady that it will lead to too many questions. Brady says he’s in no mood to deal with Xander either and suggests they stay quiet and he’ll go away. Xander continues knocking, pointing out that he knows she’s in there because the front desk told him that she hasn’t left her room all day. Fiona then calls out to Xander that she just has to put on a robe as she instructs Brady to hide in the bathroom and escape through the window even though Brady points out they are on the third floor. Fiona then answers the door and claims she was just trying to clean up a bit as she invites him in. Fiona calls it a lovely surprise while Xander says it can’t be totally unexpected since she did ask Sarah to talk to him on her behalf. Fiona confirms that she thought he might be more receptive to her story if it came from Sarah. Xander says that Sarah told him all about her being in a mental institution and how she never intended to abandon him, but he’s not sure that he believes it.

Jack and Chad return from the building they checked out but it wasn’t a match. Jack points out that none of the buildings have windows that match the one in the video and says it doesn’t make any sense. Chad then finds there’s another billboard for the skating place so they must be in the wrong place. Jack decides they will start looking again.

Maggie tells Sarah that it sounds like Fiona has been through a lot. Sarah says hearing her story changed her perception of what happened between her and Xander. Maggie says she can certainly relate to the grief Fiona felt over losing her husband and her battle with addiction. Sarah feels like Fiona has done a lot of work on herself, so it would be a shame if Xander didn’t give her another chance.

Xander tells Fiona that it’s just so very convenient that all the years of her being an absent mother and none of it was her fault. Fiona clarifies that she didn’t say it was her fault and she’s not trying to absolve herself of her responsibility. Fiona admits that she handled things terribly when Titus died as she turned her back on her only child and found comfort in the bottom of a bottle. Fiona insists that she’s cleaned up her act. Xander questions if that means she’s not drinking anymore. Fiona claims she’s committed to her sobriety and going to meetings. Fiona pretends she’s in a 12 step program, saying she wants to be sober so that Xander can be proud of her and they can finally have a relationship.

Brady staggers through the town square after escaping from Fiona’s room. Paul finds him and says he was just about to come looking for him. Paul questions Brady limping and having a leaf in his hair. Brady claims he just twisted his ankle and fell in a bush, then asks why Paul was looking for him. Paul explains that he was with Marlena and she was a little concerned about him not coming home last night. Brady claims he was at the office, swamped with work all night. Paul adds that he’s a little worried about him too. Brady claims he’s fine and asks why he wouldn’t be. Paul says he knows that Brady has been struggling because of Theresa and that he attempted to drink before he showed up. Brady calls that a mistake. Paul asks Brady to be honest with him as he questions if he needs to worry about him.

Kayla tells Steve that if something happened to John, he has to tell Marlena. Steve says he just kept holding off, hoping that he could bring her some good news. Steve adds that the ISA is still looking into it but he figured he should come home and update Marlena in person. Kayla knows Marlena will be horrified by the news. Steve states that Marlena was counting on him to look after John and he let them both down. Kayla encourages that he did everything he could. Steve insists he’s not giving up and that he will be going back to Greece, but first he has to break the news to Marlena. Kayla offers to call Marlena to get her to come over right away.

Chad and Jack arrive at a building. Jack insists that it has to be the right building since it matches everything in the video. Chad points out that this one is locked while all the other buildings were unlocked. Chad knocks on the door, asking if anyone is there.

Maggie asks Sarah if she and Xander have set another wedding date. Sarah says not yet but they both agree the sooner, the better. Maggie jokes that it’s safe to say Xander is done with double weddings. Sarah says they both are and they just want it to be small and intimate, so it will probably just be Maggie, Victoria, and hopefully Fiona. Maggie wonders what’s going on over there. Sarah admits she’s dying to know but Xander isn’t back yet, so she thinks it’s safe to assume that he didn’t immediately storm out which has to be a good sign.

Fiona knows Xander has every reason to doubt what she’s told him. Xander points out that she did lie to him about his paternity for his entire life and only came forward with the truth when it became clear that he would come in to Victor’s fortune. Fiona insists that she’s not after his money and just wants to have a relationship with her son because she loves him. Fiona asks if Xander believes her and if he can find it in his heart to forgive her. Xander then sees something in the room and questions what the hell that is.

Brady tells Paul there’s no reason to worry about him and claims he’s fine though he appreciates his concern. Paul repeats that he can’t overlook the fact that he found him with a drink in his hand. Brady asks if he told Marlena. Paul says he wouldn’t betray his trust but maybe he should have. Brady claims he went to a meeting, insisting that he’s together, stronger, and totally fine. Brady says he has to go put ice on his ankle and walks away.

Marlena goes to the hospital and gets a call from Paul, who lets her know that he talked to Brady. Marlena notes that was fast. Paul says he just ran in to him in the town square on his way to Basic Black and that Brady said he’s fine and just busy with work which is why he slept in the office, so there’s nothing to worry about. Marlena is relieved and thanks him for checking as they hang up.

Steve remains in Kayla’s office and thinks back to Marlena telling Steve that John heard Konstantin’s voice in his head, telling him to shoot Steve and admitted he wasn’t sure what to do and how he vowed to bring John back home. Marlena then arrives, looking for Kayla but is surprised to find Steve as she didn’t know he was back, noting that Kayla didn’t mention that when she asked her to come. Marlena asks where Kayla is. Steve informs her that she’s with a patient. Marlena states that if Steve is back, that must mean John is back too, so she asks where he is. Steve tells Marlena to sit down because they need to talk.

Jack suggests Chad that they call the police but Chad says he’s not wasting another second if Abigail is behind that door. Chad then kicks the door open and is shocked by what they find inside.

Update written by Brenda

On the plane, Ridge is upset that Steffi lost her passport and couldn’t go to Monaco with them. Brooke assures him that they will make the best of it like they always do and will have a wonderful time in Monaco.

At Forrester Creations in Steffi’s office, Steffi tells Finn that she really wanted to go to Monaco. He says he knows she is disappointed, but he is selfishly happy to have her there in his arms. Hope eavesdrops at the door.

At Bill’s house, Poppy feels terrible. Bill tells her that Will will cool down. Luna says she didn’t mean to cause any trouble.

At Forrester Creations someone knocks on Katie’s office door. She is excited to see Will when she opens it.

At Il Giordino, Deacon and Sheila are glad that Sheila is back from being questioned by the police. Shelia tells him that she agrees that the overdose deaths were probably not accidental.

At Bills house, Bill tells Poppy and Luna that neither of then did anything wrong and that Will should not have behaved that way. Poppy says it was a lot for Will to deal with. She tells him to imagine walking into his childhood home and finding two strangers. Bill tells her that they are not strangers; they are part of the family.
In Katie’s office, Will tells Katie that he didn’t call first because he wanted to surprise her.

On the plane, Brooke tells Ridge not to let Steffi’s absence ruin his trip. He says it won’t, but this trip was important to Steffi. Brooke reminds him that they have an appointment with the prince as soon as they land so they couldn’t wait for Steffi. She is sure that Steffi will make good use of her time in Los Angeles.
Hope goes into Steffi’s office so Finn says he is going to go. Hope says he can stay since he will hear the news anyway. Finn asks, “What news?” Hope can’t wait to tell him that Steffi is threatening to cut funding for Hope’s “Hope for the Future” line.

At Katie’s office, Will tells his mother that he had already been to his father’s house, but that it didn’t go well. He reveals that Bill was in bed and not alone. Katie concludes that must have been awkward. He said it was weird seeing another woman in their house and it made him feel out of place, and then to make matters worse, Bill’s new daughter came in and called Bill “Dad.” He says he knows he was gone for a long time, but who are these people taking over their house and family?

At Bill’s house, Bill tells Luna that Will is going to have to accept the fact that she is Bill’s daughter. Luna doesn’t want to push it on Will. Poppy thinks they should just put it on hold for now. She says she thinks she and Luna should go back to their apartment for now because she doesn’t want to make Will feel uncomfortable in his own home. She says they still have some packing to do anyway.

On the plane, Ridge informs Brooke that they are ahead of schedule and will arrive in Monaco early. Brooke wonders if they will have time for sightseeing before their appointment. He suggests that they go to the hotel. They kiss. She says that since it’s their special little getaway, they can do whatever they want, and make a little time for work. Ridge says Brooke is going to take the world by storm. They kiss some more.

In Steffi’s office, Finn asks Steffi if she is really cutting “Hope for the Future.” Steffi tells Hope that they already have discussed it. Hope says she felt attacked. Steffi says it isn’t her job to make Hope understand; her job is to keep the cash flowing and the lights on, and she doesn’t need to baby Hope. She says the numbers have been steadily trending downward. Finn interjects that he is sure that Steffi will make the right decision for the company, but he can see how it would be upsetting to Hope.

At Katie’s office, she tells Will that she is sorry he didn’t have a better homecoming at his dad’s house. He says he didn’t realize that Luna and Poppy were essentially living at Bill’s house. Will thinks the whole situation is weird. He can’t imagine his father at a music festival, but beyond that, it’s hard to imagine that he spent one night with that lady, and decades later she shows up with a daughter. Katie agrees and says it’s an adjustment for her too. Will concludes that Bill is always putting Katie through something. He says he loves his father, but he will never forget how he disrespected Katie in the past. She says she is ok and doesn’t want Will to think badly of his father. Will says it isn’t that he thinks it’s bad that Bill is taking responsibility for his daughter. Katie surmises that Will is feeling uncertain and says she has a lot of questions too, especially about Poppy.

At Il Giorno, Sheila tells Deacon that the last time she talked to Hollis, he had found Tom’s backpack in the storage room, and she told him to toss it. Now she thinks the backpack might have had a clue as to what happened to Tom and if she had looked in it, she might have been able to prevent Hollis’s death. Deacon tells her not to do that to herself.
Poppy and Luna arrive at their apartment. Luna looks for her tablet and finds a large backpack behind the couch.

In Steffi’s office, Finn says Steffi and Hope both want what’s best for Forrester. Steffi argues that Hope wants what is best for Hope. Hope counters that Steffi is against anything Logan-related and that she has a problem with the line that Brooke created too. Steffi says they aren’t talking about Brooke; they are talking about how poorly Hope’s line is performing. Finn wonders if “Hope for the Future” just needs some time to adjust after the Thomas thing. He says Steffi has every right to be concerned about the numbers and Hope has every right to fight for her line. Steffi tells Hope that it is a business decision; nothing personal. She clarifies that she isn’t going to eliminate the line, but they need to scale it back.

Ridge and Brooke arrive in Monaco and take a drive to a casino. Ridge says he is all in, betting on Brooke.

In Katie’s office, Will says he understands that things change, and life goes on, but he misses his home and his family. Katie thinks studying abroad was a good thing for Will. Will agrees, but he wants to stay in Los Angeles now. Katie says she loves Will more than anything. Will says he isn’t sure if his dad feels the same way now that he has Poppy and Luna in his life.

At IL Giordino, Shiela regrets not listening to Hollis. Deacon tells her that at that point, no one was questioning Tom’s death. Sheila says she was so dismissive and never thought that the backpack could have evidence in it, but she just wanted it out of the restaurant. Deacon supposes that Hollis threw it in the trash. Sheila says she told him to. Deacon concludes the backpack is long gone by now. Sheila thinks it probably had drugs in it that could have led them to the person who killed Tom and Hollis.

At the apartment, Luna looks in the backpack she found behind the sofa. She finds a stack of letters addressed to her mother and proceeds to read them. Poppy goes into the room and asks Luna what she is doing. Luna says the letters are from Tom to Poppy claiming to be Luna’s father. Poppy says Tom was a drug addict and a stalker. Luna realizes that Tom is the person who overdosed at Il Giordino and suddenly suspects her mother.

Steffi receives a text from Ridge informing her that they arrived in Monaco. Steffi wonders if she would have had time to get her passport and make the flight. Finn says he knows Steffi is disappointed. Hope says it won’t be the same without her, but she is sure Ridge and Brooke are getting swept up in the beauty of Monte Carlo.

Brooke and Ridge take in the waterfront view in Monte Carlo.
