Well, I remember everything before that night perfectly. And I never saw Tate using drugs. Ever! Well, there’s a first time for everything. And Tate was acting awfully suspicious that night. Okay, so? It’s not like you can prove he roofied me. And why the hell did EJ have to go slap a restraining order on him?

EJ and I agree that you and Tate need to take a break from each other’s company. God. You act like Tate’s this horrible influence on me, and we literally went on one real date. And look how that turned out. Not because of Tate.

Mom, listen. What happened on New Year’s Eve, it wasn’t his fault.

I’m sorry. I, um, I just thought you were trying to tell me something that Cole might have Set in therapy. Well, that would be quite an ethical breach, wouldn’t it? Yeah, it would. And of course we’re all hoping that Tate is released. As soon as Holly wakes up and, um, remembers what actually happened on New Year’s Eve. But it seems that she doesn’t remember where she got the drugs.

Brady thinks, uh, She’s not telling the truth. Of course, he, he would seriously want to believe his own son. And Nicole wants to believe Holly’s telling the truth. As much as I hate to say it, because I love, love Holly. But, say what? Brady’s not the only one who thinks Holly’s not telling the truth. Holly,

honey, look at me. She’s not. You have got to stop blaming yourself for that night. Even if Tate didn’t give you those drugs, they weren’t yours. Mom. Honey, let me just finish, okay? Marlena made me realize that self blame is a coping mechanism. And it’s just sometimes the way we deal with trauma, but You know, it’s not, it’s not really good for anyone.

And that, that night, Holly, that terrible night that you OD’d, I thought there is no way those are Holly’s drugs. Not a chance. But then, self doubt started creeping in and, and I started to question myself. And I was wondering, man, am I oblivious to what’s going on under my own roof with my own daughter? So I started to blame myself for failing you as a mother.

For not being more attentive, and, and missing out on your birthday, and, and making you worry about me when I should be worrying about you. Mom, you were going through so much when you lost that baby. Please don’t be so hard on yourself, okay? Honey, I just, I want you to understand what I’m saying. I realized that you do not do drugs, and you were the victim on New Year’s Eve.

Someone maliciously put drugs in your drink without you knowing about it and it almost ended your life. And I blamed myself for no reason. Just like you are now. My sweetheart. What could you possibly be sorry for? Why would I want to be with someone who obviously doesn’t care about me? When? Holly only dated me to get over her big crush on Johnny DiMera, her step brother, and now she won’t admit those were her drugs that made her OD.

Hers, and hers alone, which makes her selfish and mean. Not my friend. God, I need to get over her. Wait, you don’t remember your father? You never realized it before now? Yeah, I don’t know. I, uh, guess I thought it was sort of an out of sight, out of mind sort of thing. But when I was in session with Marlena, you know, she, she asked me about my mom.

And even though she, she died when I was younger, I could still see her face, you know? I could, I could smell her, her perfume. But when she asked me about my dad, uh, I don’t know. Total blank. It’s really strange. Steph, did I ever tell you anything about him? No, you didn’t. I mean, I remember asking you about him once.

You just kind of zoned out on me. So I, I figured it was a sensitive subject. And I never asked again.

Detective Michaels, it uh, obviously means a great deal to me that you believe in my innocence, but why do you? Well, from one ex mercenary to another, I know what it’s like to be accused of something you didn’t do. And of course, there have been plenty of times I was guilty. Likewise. But I have been working really hard on myself, turned over a new leaf, and I get the impression that you’re trying to do the same thing.

I have been, yeah. And look, like I say, I’ve done many regrettable things in my past. But I’d never be stupid enough to try and shoot a cop. Not anymore, especially now that Sarah and I are back together and we have our little girl, who’s the light of my life. I mean, I’m so happy. Why would I risk it all to put a bullet in you?

I mean, no offense, but I don’t even know you. Right, right, which is the assumption why you were a gun for hire. Yeah, but I wasn’t. I just wished there was some way to track down who sent me that text and deposited the money into my account. Well, we know that forensics came up empty. Okay. So, assuming you were set up.

Do you have any idea who might have been behind it? Wait, you think Holly may be lying? I think it’s possible. Um, I told Brady that I would talk to her and I did. She was evasive. Oh. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, maybe. In which case, I suppose it would be too much to ask. Too much to hope for that, that you and I, uh, Never mind. I know it would be too much to hope for.

Everett, I’m sorry that you’re dealing with this mental health issue. I really am.

And I know that you don’t have a lot of people to lean on here, so I’m not going to disappear on you. I appreciate that. And I did have real feelings for you. Which, as you know, I was starting to To have, again, but It’s okay. I I think I I know where you’re going with this.

Yeah, so, I will tell you this. Uh, while the charges against you remain active, and assuming that you’re innocent, I’m I will do everything in my power to clear your name. You just gotta be patient. And then when I OD’d, she was totally about to blame herself if it turned out those drugs were mine.

For, for not being there for me. For being not a good enough mom. Tate, it would kill her if she thought those drugs were mine. I honestly don’t think she could take it. And she, she sort of lost her mind when that little boy died. If I told her the truth about what happened on New Year’s Eve, she would just totally fall apart.

Look, I, um, I gotta know that you weren’t being selfish, that you were just trying to protect your mom. I am, but Tate, I feel so bad about what you’ve gone through, what you’re still going through. It’s okay, I’m not gonna be in this place for much longer, at least I hope not. But your mom going off the rails, that could, that could destroy your whole family.

So you shouldn’t tell her, ever. What? Tate. It’s okay, really, don’t worry about me. But I am worried about you. Look, this, uh, this halfway house, it’s not so bad. Look, I know we both said this before, but I think it bears repeating. I have never felt closer to you than I do now. Okay. Then let’s go back to the kidnapping. Uh, you said you and Tripp were in the park during the geocaching event. Right. That’s where Officer Goldman approached us. She said we were in danger. That, that she’d been assigned to follow us and that, that she needed to escort us to a safe location. And given everything that had been going on, I don’t know.

We went with her.

Then what else? We got into the back of this unmarked van. And then she drove for a while. And Tripp and I remembered hearing sounds like, like airplanes.

And then when she finally stopped, she told us to get out. And took us to that beer tank. She locked us up in there, as you know. If, if you want to stop. No,

it’s okay. Whenever you’re ready.

When we were in that tank, Officer Goldman would show up, randomly. With food, water, She made Tripp make that video. And then after God knows how long, because we had no way to tell the time, we heard

the fence close. And we thought, this is it.

And so in those last moments, we exchanged wedding vows. And then, we held each other until

Hi. Didn’t your mother teach you never keep a girl waiting? Six whole minutes. Next time be early. So just how many of these meetings are we going to need to have to get this little scheme to work? Uh, six. Sit. Yes, ma’am. We need to talk next moves. All right. So, our original plan was, you eat Teresa Occupied while Brady and I find our way back to each other.

But, since talking with them at John and Marlena’s was a total bust, and more importantly, you wimped out on Valentine’s Day, didn’t propose to Teresa like she thought you would, We, uh We need to explore other options. All right, do not put that all on me. First of all, Brady practically laughed in your face when you even brought up the idea of rekindling things with him.

So that’s not my fault. Okay, okay. No, it wasn’t your fault. But, uh, Teresa moving out of your apartment and into Brady’s That most certainly is. And, um, you know, maybe, uh, so you didn’t have to marry her. I mean, but you could have just strung her along for a little while. She overreacted, Kristen. She got needy and desperate.

And I’m not getting the whole big push for marriage, you know. I mean, it’s the 21st century, for God’s sake. There’s no stigma anymore for people just being together, having a fine time, you know? I I I I tried to make her understand that. No, you didn’t try hard enough. Oh, my God. Instead, you sent her running right into Brady’s arms to sob her widow eyes out.

Oh, my God, and now she is sleeping in the bedroom right next to his. Tissue? Pee brain at Grass Pile Con or productive that is. Look, Cruella, I’m not one of your little puppy catchers, so if you want my help with this, you better not talk down to me. Oh, I won’t talk down to you if you get serious about achieving our mutual goals.

I’m not screwing up every five minutes. Okay, first of all, you’ve done your fair share of screwing things up. And second of all, achieving our goal isn’t going to be a cakewalk. Brady and Teresa are all wrapped up in Tate’s drama, and get this, the kid got arrested again. Sneaking out of the halfway house to go see Holly.

Oh, God. Yeah. Another united effort to keep that little punk out of trouble, and, uh, that’s going to only make them inseparable. Damn it, Alex. Alright, we have to up our game.

And I think I know just how to do that. Okay, she’s done. Did she fight it? Not at all. No, I knew she was a goner when she started rubbing her cheeks. She’s very predictable, that one. Can’t help but wonder what you’re gonna be like during her teenage years when she’s sneaking out of the house with boys. Oh, well, our daughter’s not going anywhere with boys until she’s at least 27.

And even then, I’ll be with her, so Right. Oh, it’s so good being home. I just feel like I’ve missed so much. I mean, I can’t believe our little angel can move. Toy from one hand to another now. Oh yeah, she’s obviously very coordinated. She definitely is. When did she learn how to collab? Oh, she did that spontaneously when I told her her doll was coming home.

Oh, I see. Mm hmm. Hmm. You know, my mom really likes having her there. She told me that she would watch her any time. So, you know. Maybe once you’re all settled, we could plan another night alone. Hmm. Hmm. So, then when we pick our little girl up the next morning, we find her in Constantine’s arms again, I think.

I trust that slime ball as long as I can throw him. What happened in the past, partner? It happened because I lacked free will. Because Other people manipulated me into doing their bidding. Well, now I have free will and I’m exercising it. And if you care about me at all You’re gonna let me do what I need to do.

Believe me, I get it. I do. I’m not Constantine’s biggest fan either. Well, you’re a whole lot more tolerant of the man than I am. Constantine has been really helpful with all of that and when I was there he was really great with Thomas and Charlotte. He helped to make valentines for school and you know he was always telling them stories. I always had a laugh. I’m sorry Sarah but um, I still think he’s a con man. He’s taking advantage of your mom.

Yeah well we’re gonna have to agree to disagree on that.

From what I have seen and what my mom has said, he makes her really happy and so I’m grateful to the guy for that. And you’ve seen it too. You know that. You know that mom has been much calmer and happier since he came into her life. Yes, I suppose I have seen that. So maybe Constantine deserves a chance.

I need to go to Greece. I need to turn myself in. Let the authorities do a full investigation into the murder of your daughter and that Is my path to forgiveness.

John, I won’t stand beside you, whatever you decide. But can we just take it a day or two to think this through? I’m sorry, Doc, but this is the right thing to do and you know it. God, Brady, why can’t that girl just come clean and tell everybody that Tate did not give her the drugs? Lisa, you know why? Because she’s, she says she doesn’t remember what happened that night on New Year’s Eve. Well Let’s just hope that Sloane Peterson comes up with something to force EJ to drop the charges.

Do not make jokes. Do not do that. Especially when it comes to someone like a sadistic maniac like Kristen DiMera.

Do not do that. Do you know why the mothership hasn’t returned to take her back to her planet? Do you know why? Because they don’t want her. Oh. They don’t want her there. Because she’s not only a sadistic maniac, Alex, she’s also crazier than a loon. Well, maybe I like having a little crazy in my life. Hell, I was with you.

And you may not be a sadistic maniac, Teresa, but you are not a saint. And you’d be the first one to say it, that you have done plenty of things that you regret. There’s a difference. I regret doing those things. Kristen doesn’t have any regrets. She has no conscience, Alex. She’s too egocentric and arrogant to even ever believe that she does anything wrong.

Okay, why in the hell would you ever think Alex would have tremendous potential? His relationships last five minutes, and he has zero experience with children.

No experience with kids at all, Kristen. Hey, hey, hey. You know what? I wouldn’t say that. I wouldn’t say that. I mean, he, he had, he grew up with younger brothers, whom he adores, and he, he loved spending time with Tate. He, he did, when he was with Teresa. He likes kids, he told me so, Brady. Has he met our daughter?

Do you have him hanging around our daughter? Is that what you’re doing, already? Brady, Well, this relationship is brand new. I mean, we are still in the honeymoon stage. I know. Obviously it was traumatic when Victoria was kidnapped. Albeit, it was a mercifully short time that she was missing. And thank God we got her back. And now she’s not only Fine and healthy and happy. She’s absolutely perfect in every way and I say that without a hint of bias. I’m really glad we’re doing this parenting thing together.

And that Victoria has such a brave and devoted daddy who loves her so much. I’d die for her. And you. I know you would. Which is why I am so happy that I gave our relationship a second chance. My third. You’re sweet, it was like a fourth chance. Yeah, but he’s kind.

You have proven yourself to be a kind and caring person. To me. To my mom, to everyone who counts, we gave you a chance and you completely came through. You totally redeemed yourself and you showed everyone the wonderful person you are. So maybe Constantine deserves a chance to prove himself too. Uh huh. I’ve, of course, yes, I believe that we should all hope that everyone can change, and that it’s very important to give everyone the benefit of the doubt whenever possible, but Sarah is different with Constantine. How?

I suppose letting you plead guilty to a lesser charge is not as egregious as offering you a deal for shooting an officer. You dropped the charges in exchange for my testimony against Weston. Well, I can’t have the charges completely dismissed, but what I could do possibly is offer you a sentencing deal. I can live with that.

Let me just be clear here. If I offer you this deal, You are not going to show Detective Michaels that recording. That’s right. You get to keep your precious job as D. A. We both go free. It’s a win win. So what’s the point of this little chess game? Well, you can’t guess.

Hey, Leo, you’re up bright and early. Chadwick, I couldn’t sleep. Not that I didn’t try, and try, and try again. But rather than fight insomnia’s relentless tide, I thought I would come here and get a head start on Lady Whistleblower’s latest column. You I was thinking of running a story on the governor’s latest inflagrante delicto.

That, or covering the crazy prison break with the mysterious unknown accomplices. So you’re joking, right? You’re not seriously going to give oxygen to that bastard, are you? Well, I mean, it’s a pretty newsworthy story, no? Leo, the, the person who escaped prison, Clyde Weston, is also the person who brutally murdered my wife.

The love of my life. The mother of my children. Yeah? Now those children had to be taken out of school because all of their friends keep talking about the bad man who escaped. And now they’re scared out of their minds. That make sense? Chadwick, I That was so callous and insensitive. I am so sorry. I know this must be a very difficult day for you and your family.

Yeah, it’s more than difficult, Leo. You know, they, um My kids and I, we’re, we’re, we’re still grieving. We’re probably always going to grieve. But the, the image of finding my wife that way, in bed, is going to haunt me forever. So yeah, so the idea of this monster roaming free. So the only thing that, uh, that I can pray for is that, uh, that they catch him before he kills someone else.

Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Chadwick, again, I am so sorry that I even brought up the prison break. I know that the mere mention of Clyde Weston’s name is painful and I just mentioned his name! Leo, it’s fine. It’s all good. Um, there is something that you can do. That doesn’t involve the prison break. Name it. Okay. Okay, well, uh, since Everett is out on personal issues, and because you did such an amazing job with the MLK Day piece and the piece about the Wharton House, I was, uh, hoping that you could take your lady whistleblower hat off and do some real reporting.

Are you kidding? I will take off her itchy feather boa, too. Uh, okay. Um, I’m sure you’ve heard that the mayor’s being released from the hospital. Uh, I had heard that, yes. But just so you know, Mayor Price is not exactly the president of my fan club. Nor is she a member, truth be told. Yeah, I vaguely remember something about, uh, her firing your ass.

Yes, for slipping secrets. But, you know what? That happened a million years ago. She has probably forgotten about it, which is why I will cover her release, along with what is being called her miracle recovery, and I will do so with confidence and panache. All right, but we’ll tone down the panache just a little bit.

I was thinking about having a new baby.

I think about it all the time.

We would have been successful. We would have had a boy, a girl. We would have been crazed. Trying to juggle two kids and a newborn baby.

Loved every minute of it though.

Um, I’m good. Harris, you’re still convalescing. You checked yourself out early against medical advice from the hospital.

That doesn’t seem like a very wise decision to me. So, what, what exactly was your plan? Adding, uh, espionage to your resume? Look, I knocked on your door a few times. You didn’t answer, and I just You know, I just kept picturing you passed out on the floor. And Roman and Katie had just got back from visiting Abe and Paulina.

Well So I told him what was going on. And Roman let you in my room? Well, he said he hadn’t seen you around the pub either. So yes, Roman wanted to check on you too. Okay, and call me sentimental, but I was pretty stoked when I saw that you weren’t dead on the floor. But it was weird, because it looked like you hadn’t been there at all.

Incoming. Best place to put this? Uh, you can just roam right there. Should’ve rented a forklift for the boxes. Yeah, well, we didn’t realize just how much of Ed’s stuff was at our place. So, how are things shaping up here? Ah, well, with Paulina being out the last few weeks, the fridge was a bit of a dumpster fire.

So I just, uh, tossed out everything that was expired and replaced it. Well, you sure do know the way to your mother in law’s heart, don’t you? Yeah. Which, by the way, I do. Is going to be studied in medical journals till the end of time, apparently. Kayla said that Pauline’s miraculous recovery blew all the doctors away.

They had, they’d never seen anything like that. I know. I know, man. I mean, and speaking of amazing things that happened last night, Abe’s amnesia? Gone. How about that? Gone. I mean, I, I, I, I really, I, I don’t know how, I don’t know, but Whatever the reason, however it happened, I’m just I don’t know. I’m just happy they’re back to their old selves.

It was some kind of miracle. Is that true? We appreciate your concern. And all your questions will be answered in due time. But right now, we’re going home. And now I’d like to express my profound gratitude for the love and prayers, uh, that I’ve That we’ve received, which has greatly contributed to my healing. Madam Mayor. You know, I keep thinking about How lucky I am to have you as a husband. And you’re not only sexy and handsome, you’re also really just so kind. I keep thinking about how you were there with me in the hospital day and night while I was being there for Mama. Speaking of your mom, and look, I mean, what happened with her, that’s like off the charts.

Amazing, right? Yeah, it’s more than amazing. It’s more than luck. It’s a miracle. And Abe? Getting his memory back at the same time? So was that. I guess call it the power of love, I guess. Part of the agreement to allow Tate to go back to the halfway house is that he needs to wear an ankle monitor. An ankle monitor? No! And there’s a restraining order that says he can’t come within 100 feet of this property or you.

My God, I can’t believe this! Mom, he didn’t do anything wrong! I know, but honey, it’s for the best. How is it for the best? And why the hell can’t things just go back to normal again? I, I just want to see my friend. Hang out with him. This isn’t fair. I mean, if you only knew. If we only knew what? If If you only knew how sad this makes me.

Constantine has been very sweet and kind and gentle with her.

I mean, you’ll have you know that he raised a daughter himself, who died tragically when she was a young woman. Oh my God. Me and her? Yeah, well now you know. And it’s very painful for him to talk about her, obviously. But he opened up to me about that loss. And, and he’s, his tenderness towards Victoria is very touching.

Because of that loss, and he has a way with her, a wonderful way.

I’m texting Lonnie and letting her know that Mama’s going to be released today. She is going to be so thrilled. It’s still so hard to believe. I know it is. Hey, hey, we should throw Mama a welcome home bash. You know how she loves a party. Today? Are you sure we have enough time to pull that off? Well, we can, um, call the market that’s right by the apartment.

They have a really great party section. And then we can, can you call them and just see if they have like a welcome home banner and some streamers and balloons. And then I can call the bakery and order some pastries, of course, a few quiches. And then can you also get some groceries so that we can make sure that the fridge is stocked?

Just make a list and it’s done. Yes. Great. And then I’ll also order some flowers and see if they can be delivered with them. The stuff from Sweet Bits. Perfect. I will call Abe and see if he knows when they’re going to release her. Okay. Well, with the shortage of hospital beds, it could be soon. Um, do you want to invite anyone?
