Gabi: What the hell are you doing here?

Kristen: I heard there was going to be a meeting of the dimera shareholders. And, uh… well, you should know you can’t have a vote without kristen dimera.

Belle: You think you’re gonna come in here and steal my husband because you’re a sick, twisted human being with a heart of stone.

Jan: Back off! You’re upsetting me!

Belle: And your insane, pathetic plan is never gonna work! Do you hear me? Never!

Shawn: Belle! What is going on?

Jan: She just came in here out of nowhere and started screaming at me.

Belle: Please would you stop? She asked me to come over here.

Shawn: Why?

Belle: Because she wants to turn my office into a nursery.

Shawn: Is that true, jan?

Jan: The baby needs somewhere to sleep. I was just being practical.

Belle: Practical. I think the word is evil, as if you haven’t done enough. Can’t you see what she’s doing, shawn? She’s trying to drive us further and further apart. It is her goal in life, it always has been.

Jan: Yeah, well, actually, why would I bother to drive you and shawn further apart when you’re already doing such a fine job of it yourself?

Allie: What do you mean, you just got your answer?

Tripp: I asked you before if you still love chanel. I saw the way you jumped into each other’s arms just now.

Allie: Yeah, I was emotional and relieved.

Tripp: Yeah, but the feelings you had for her, they’re not in the past, are they?

Johnny: And I get that, okay? But when I was chained up in that crypt, allie… or t-the devil, he made sure that I knew that I, as the devil… I signed those divorce papers, and that’s–

Chanel: And you don’t remember anything that happened after that?

Johnny: No, no, I don’t remember anything until the devil jumped out of me into belle and then allie. Before that, we were newlyweds. We were in love, right?

Chanel: We were.

Johnny: God. I just remember being so happy. I wanted to tell the whole world. I want us to be that way again. Don’t you?

Jan: I am worried that all of this tension is not good for the baby.

Belle: And who the hell created all this tension? Who called me over here just to provoke me?

Shawn: Jan, can I have a moment alone with belle please?

Jan: Well, I’m the one on bedrest.

Belle: Actually, I would like jan to hear the answer to this.

Shawn: Hear what?

Belle: The answer to the question. Do you want me to move out of my office?

Shawn: What? No! No. Absolutely not. I would never ask you to do that. That space is yours, belle.

Jan: Okay. Well, then I guess our baby will have to sleep in claire’s room. And since I’ll have nowhere else to go, I’ll move in to yours. Are we all cool with that?

Kristen: Well, fam, I’m trying not to be offended that no one bothered to tell me about this meeting.

Ej: We didn’t know where to find you.

Chad: Yeah, how’d you even hear about it? We scheduled this like two hours ago.

Kristen: Well, I have my ways. But what’s important is that I’m here, right?

Gabi: Yeah, well, you’re a little late to the party, kristen.

Kristen: How so?

Chad: The votes are already in–another vote for us isn’t gonna change the outcome.

Gabi: I’m already out of the company.

Kristen: Oh.

Jake: The vote is six to five in favor of installing chad and ej as ceos. Your vote’ll make it seven.

Kristen: Well, not if I vote against the motion. Like pulsing, electric shocks,

Chanel: A part of me wants to just go running back into your arms and pretend like the last couple of months didn’t happen. But…they did. I can’t just let go of what happened at that party, or after.

Johnny: That wasn’t even me. Wh-wh…what if we could just turn back time to when we were happy and hopeful? And allie and tripp were too?

Chanel: How could we do that?

Johnny: I don’t know. I don’t know, but if you think about it, nothing’s really changed since then.

Chanel: Yes, it has. I mean, the world didn’t stop just because you don’t remember it. You know, things changed, people changed. They grew together…apart. And one thing that happened was that allie realized that she was bi.

Johnny: So?

Chanel: Well, when I thought that you didn’t want me, and tripp broke things off with allie, she and I… we decided to try to see if we can make things work with–

Johnny: Yeah, I know, I know, I know.

Chanel: But then I thought that she broke up with me, but now I know that she didn’T. Not anymore than you did. And g, I still love you.

Chanel: I also love your sister.

Allie: Chanel and I hadn’t seen each other since I almost died. Since she realized that everything I’ve been doing and saying the past few weeks hasn’t really been me.

Tripp: You mean when she thought you dumped her and told her that you didn’t love her?

Allie: Yes.

Tripp: Chanel still loves you, allie. That was pretty clear to me. And you love her too, don’t you?

Allie: Yes. I do.

Belle: There is no way in hell that you are going to sleep in my bedroom. And why wouldn’t you want to sleep in the same room with your baby?

Jan: Because I read that it’s better for the child to sleep in his or her own room. It makes them less reliant on the parent, more able to self-sooth.

Belle: Wow. You just made that up. Jan, newborns wake up constantly needing to be fed and changed, so obviously it makes sense to sleep in the same room with them for the first few months.

Jan: Oh, the baby’s kicking again. Shawn, do you want to feel?

Belle: Ugh, don’t look at me.

Jan: Of course, she doesn’t want you to feel your baby moving around in another woman’s womb. Not that you had a chance with claire either since you thought she was philip’s baby.

Belle: Oh, you hateful bitch! You wanna start this?

Jan: Are you threatening me? Are you gonna let her threaten me?

Shawn: Listen to me. Everybody’s upset here, okay? Can we just– can we just be civil?

Jan: I’m sorry, but…[Huffs] It’s not like I’m gonna be alone with little bo. Shawn will be with me. Sorry, did I not make that clear? And as I explained to shawn, I really think that it’ll help prepare me for having our child.

Belle: Except you won’t be raising your child because your baby’s gonna be a teenager by the time you get out of prison!

Jan: Well, I don’t know about that.

Belle: Okay. I can see that jan is harboring the delusion that somehow the judge is just gonna throw out her sentence after the baby’s born.

Jan: I was thinking more of a suspension of the sentence.

Belle: Not a chance.

Jan: What? So you think I’m just gonna give birth and you’re gonna hustle me back to prison? So, what, so then you can raise my kid? Never! That is not going to happen! I am going to raise my own baby!

Belle: Oh, no, you’re not! And I am gonna make sure of it.

Ej: Kristen, obviously you wouldn’t vote against me and chad.

Chad: You’re joking, right, kristen?

Kristen: Does it look like I’m joking?

Kristen: Ha ha ha ha! So I suppose, um, no one in this family has ever gone against their siblings before?

Jake: Kristen, you understand that if you vote against the motion–

Kristen: That would make it a tie, six-six. Yes, I can do the math.

Shin: A tie would mean it doesn’t pass.

Gabi: Which means I retain control of dimera and jake keeps his job.

Kristen: [Laughs] Mr. Shin, may I register my vote?

Shin: Whenever you’re ready.

Kristen: Then I hereby vote nay on the motion. Gabi, jake, congratulations to the both of you.

Allie: I grew up in a crazy family. I always had my mom, who had a revolving door of husbands and boyfriends, and all I cared about was not being like her. I wanted to settle down… make a stable family with someone kind who treats me well. Loves my kid.

Tripp: Kind, stable, reliable tripp. That’s me.

Allie: That’s not what i meant.

Tripp: I know what you meant. I didn’t exactly grow up in a stable home myself. I had to work hard to be the kinda guy you can depend on.

Chanel: No, no, I-I’m just saying that in the last couple of months I got dumped by you, dumped by allie, and then I got drunk and I almost jumped into bed with tripp.

Johnny: Yeah, all based on lies! Told by the devil!

Chanel: Okay, I haven’t even been able to process that yet.

Shin: Well, there’s a variety of infractions in the bylaws that might suppress a shareholder from voting. Criminality isn’t among them. Stefano made sure of that.

Chad: You don’t even know him.

Kristen: Ha ha. Yeah, you’re right about that.

Belle: What I am saying is that you’re unfit to be a mother and I will petition the court if it means protecting that baby.

Gabi: She’s got a point, chad.

Chad: Yeah.

Kristen: Thank you, gabi. I know who my real friends are and aren’T.

Ej: Gabi hernandez is not your friend.

Gabi: Oh, uh, I am now.

Kristen: And she brought in jake, which means the company will still have a dimera presence.

Jake: Oh! I’m just as much a dimera as you two clowns are. And neither of you were raised in the family.

Gabi: Uh, excuse me! Have we all conveniently forgotten that I, too, am a dimera? I mean, I’m stefan dimera’s widow–hello!

Kristen: And I’m the most dimera of all of you. Even if I’m not blood-related. My father raised me right. So as for all of you, sayonara, suckers.

Chanel: I-I’m sure he’s probably feeling better already since he and horton are probably getting back together as we speak.

Allie: I have no idea what chanel is going to do.

Tripp: Doesn’t really matter to me. All I know is is that I want to be with someone who loves me with their whole heart.

Allie: Of course you do. And, tripp, you deserve that. You deserve everything. I mean… I can’t stop thinking about what you did for me. And you…you were willing to risk your life so that I could keep mine.

Tripp: I’d do it again. Because I think the world is a much better place with you in it. It doesn’t mean you owe me anything.

Allie: Is that why you think I’m here? Out of…obligation?

Tripp: I think that you’re grateful… and that you care about me. But I don’t think you’re in love with me.

[Machinery beeping]

Jan: I’m so scared, shawn.

Shawn: I know, I know. But you heard what the doctor said. Cramping at this point in the pregnancy is perfectly normal, especially when you overexert yourself. That’s why bedrest is so important.

Jan: Yeah, well, I wasn’t in the middle of a cross-fit class when this happened.

Shawn: Yeah, but you weren’t exactly relaxed either.

Jan: I wasn’t relaxed because belle was attacking me and trying to take away my baby.

Shawn: Hey, see, you’re gonna get yourself worked up again.

Shawn: Because. Because everything is gonna be fine.

Jan: Well, that’s what they keep saying too, but I just– I can’t help think what if I lost this baby? I already love our child so much, shawn.

Gabi: Wait a minute, uh… we cannot leave li out of the celebration!

Shin: I’m happy for you.

Jake: Obviously, she knows you’re the best person for the job.

Gabi: Li, we were supposed to go out and celebrate the pinehurst deal. Now we have even more to celebrate.

Shin: Indeed we do.

Gabi: Why don’t we get started with some drinks first?

Johnny: So you think that allie and tripp are in there getting back together?

Chanel: I know horton better than anyone else in the world.

[Beep beep]

Chanel: What’s wrong?

Johnny: Uh… my dad and uncle chad called a shareholder meeting. They were planning to take back dimera enterprises from gabi hernandez.

Johnny: My dad promised me a job, but it sounds like the whole thing just…went up in flames, so…

Chanel: Well, you didn’t really want that job, did you?

Johnny: What else do I have? My deadbeat producer was murdered, my movie’s on the scrap heap, my life is basically imploding.

Chanel: I’m really sorry.

Johnny: Hey, I-I didn’t–

[Sighs] I didn’t mean to lay all that on you. Um… to be honest, this is just all…it’s kinda new to me. You know, with girls it’s always come easy. I-I’ve never had to be, uh, patient before.

Chanel: So are you saying that you’re willing to wait?

Johnny: I’m saying if there’s any chance at all with us… that you are more than worth the wait.

Chanel: Um, I-I said that I was I gonna go back to the bakery like an hour ago, so…I should, uh… I should head out.

[Elevator bell dings] See you soon.

Jan: I– I didn’t mean it like that. I’m just still kind of shaken up. Look, I…I’m sorry I made you send belle away.

Shawn: Listen, I do not wanna discuss belle with you, okay?

Jan: Okay. Okay, I get that. But I didn’t do it to hurt you, shawn. I-I did it to protect our baby. I don’t want anything to happen to him or her. And I’m sure you don’t either.

Jan: Well, as long as you keep belle away from me and our precious child, we’ll both be fine.

Belle: How did the meeting go–is that a celebratory drink I hope?

Ej: No. This is a drowning-my-sorrows drink.

Ej: Uh…kristen showed up, virtually, and ruined our best-laid plans.

Belle: So she voted for gabi?

Ej: As far as I can tell, just to spite me and chad.

Belle: I’m so sorry. I know how much you wanted that. But, hey, if it’s any consolation, jan spears just did the same thing to my marriage. Although, it wasn’t virtual.

Ej: That’s not a consolation. That’s terrible. Care for a drink?

Belle: I’ve never cared for something more in my life. Make it strong, will you?

Ej: I haven’t always been the best father to you, giovanni. Especially of late. And yet, you still came through for me. I can’t tell you how much that means.

Johnny: Yeah. The papers are all signed, so you wanna shake on it?

Ej: [Chuckles] We can do better than that.

Johnny: Okay.

Ej: I love you, son. And I thank you.

Johnny: Well, it was the– I was the least I could do, given everything, you know, that I put you through. I still feel a little guilty.

Jake: Not my fault, okay? I was here on time in hr all morning filling out paperwork. Now that I’m here, let’s get to it, huh?

Tripp: How you feeling?

Allie: I’m fine. But you look–

Tripp: Terrible, I know. But now, I’m– I’m much better now. How’s henry? He’s good. He’s with my dad at the park.

Tripp: Lucas is in town?

Allie: Yeah.

Tripp: Don’t you wanna hang with them?

Allie: No. I wanted to come see you, tripp. To thank you for saving my life.

Chanel: [Crying softly] Oh, god.

[Sniffs] Okay, pull it together, chanel. Okay. You need to be strong now. Okay.

[Exhales] Oh, my god, johnny.

Johnny: Sorry.

Chanel: [Inhales sharply]

Johnny: Hey, you okay?

Chanel: Yeah. I’m just a nervous wreck because my mother– I just finished seeing her down at the police station.

[Sniffs]

Johnny: Yeah, I… heard she was arrested. I’m so sorry.

Chanel: It just doesn’t feel real, you know, that mama shot and killed someone– and not just anyone, lani’s biological father.

[Sighs]

Johnny: How’s she doing?

Chanel: She’s putting on a brave face. You know, saying everything’s gonna be okay. But what if it’s not, g? What if they take her to prison? It’s not right. Mama is not some dangerous criminal. She’s a mother. My mother.

[Crying softly]

Jan: I was on the phone with a salesperson, about to order the most adorable baby outfit. I wanted to surprise you, so–

Shawn: Isn’t it a little early to be buying baby clothes?

Jan: It’s not for our baby, silly, it’s for ciara’S. I know you’d wanna give your sister something special to celebrate her son’s arrival. And since you have done so much for me, I thought I could do something for you. Aren’t you gonna thank me for being so thoughtful?

Shawn: Thanks. Yeah, you’re all heart.

[Tense music]

Ej: Ah, if it isn’t our intrepid counselor.

Belle: Oh, someone’s in a good mood.

Chad: Johnny gave ej the green light to vote his shares.

Ej: Mm-hmm.

Belle: Ah, and now ej has his own shares back as well.

Ej: Is that official?

Belle: Yes, sir. I filed the papers this morning. As for the shareholders’ meeting you’re planning to call today, I also have signed proxies from all the board members who can’t attend– theo, tony, kate.

Ej: And I have johnny’S.

Belle: And I reached out to you brother, peter blake, and he’s gonna join via video conference.

Ej: And not only intrepid, but also thorough. Thank you very much, belle.

Belle: Well, I just wanna do my part to make things right. You never should have been ousted from dimera.

Ej: Well, now I am ready to reclaim my rightful place at the helm of my father’s company with my brother by my side, of course. I must say, while I was languishing in prison, I never dreamed we’d find a way to put our differences aside.

Belle: Hmm. How did you manage that?

Ej: I apologized to chad for all the ways that I hurt him. I suggested that we put our animosity behind us, join forces, and take back what’s ours.

Belle: And you did that.

Ej: That’s right. There’s no more division, deception, or secrets. We’re a team now. A dynamic duo who will soon be running dimera together.

[Tense atmospheric music]

Gabi: Are you having second thoughts?

Jake: Look, you promised me if I came back, the relationship between us would be strictly platonic.

Gabi: And?

Jake: I don’t think you meant it.

Gabi: [Scoffs] Yes, jake, I meant it.

Jake: Then why did I just overhear you making a phone call to a restaurant making reservations for a very special occasion with flowers, champagne, candles?

Gabi: [Sighs] And you think that was for you?

Jake: Wasn’t it?

Gabi: No.

Jake: Come on, gabi. Just admit it.

Gabi: Admit what? The reservation wasn’t for you.

Jake: Who was it for, then?

Gabi: [Laughs] It was for him.

[Tense music]

With depression, you just feel…blah. a picture of him? Ciara’s baby? I just–I wanna be able to picture the little cutie in his outfit. But if I’m asking too much, it’s okay.

Shawn: There he is right there.

Jan: Shawn, he’s beautiful.

Shawn: Baby bo.

[Chuckles]

Jan: Thank god he’s safe and everything turned out okay. I just had a thought. Maybe I could babysit for him.

Shawn: [Laughs] Not a chance in hell.

Jan: Yeah, of course not.

[Scoffs] You wouldn’t even entertain the idea. I mean, who would leave their child alone with a lunatic like jan spears? She might toss a radio in the bathtub and electrocute him. I get it. I get it, okay? It’s just really, really hurtful.

Belle: Well, I am just so glad that things are working out for the both of you.

Ej: I hope you know how grateful we are for your help.

Belle: Well, like I said, I just wanna make up for the damage I did.

Ej: It wasn’t you, belle.

Belle: I know. I know. I’m just–I just feel awful for what you’ve been through.

Ej: You’re not responsible. We now know that it wasn’t you who framed me. It was johnny. Of course, johnny doesn’t remember planting that evidence on chad’s computer. He doesn’t remember much about anything he did while he was possessed. But this morning, I spoke with him and like you, he’s still plagued with guilt. He–he feels terrible that I ended up in prison.

Chad: I gotta say something.

[Tense music]

Gabi: Hey, I was just telling jake about our plans for tonight.

Shin: Welcome back. I told gabi she made a brilliant move when she rehired you. As you know, I’ve always been a fan.

Jake: Hmm. Of me or her?

Shin: Both. And congratulations on pinehurst.

Jake: Oh, the golf club?

Gabi: No, it’s a small architectural company we acquired recently.

Shin: An incredibly promising company I’ve had my eye on for months. Several of our competitors were circling, but… gabi closed the deal. She’s really on a roll. This dinner’s to celebrate our success.

Jake: Hmm.

Shin: Why don’t you join us?

Gabi: Oh, no. He probably has plans with his roommate. Plus, I was really looking forward to spending some time with you. Alone.

Shin: Hmm.

[Tense music]

Johnny: It sounds like tr got exactly what he deserved. And obviously, I had no idea what kind of man he was when I got into business with him–what kind of horrible man he was.

Chanel: No one did. Mama finally saw his true colors, but– now I’m so scared of the price she might have to pay.

[Breathes sharply] And I’m also worried sick about horton.

Johnny: Have you–

[Clears throat] Have you seen her since?

Chanel: I thought it would be best if she had some time with henry and her dad first.

Johnny: Yeah.

Chanel: God, she’s been through such a nightmare. Are you sure she’s really okay?

Johnny: Yeah. Yeah, she is. She doesn’t remember most of it, which is a blessing, believe me.

Chanel: You’ve been though a nightmare, too, with–

[Sniffs] I’m so sorry. But at least you saved her in the end.

Johnny: No. I didn’t save her. Tripp did.

[Monitor beeping]

Allie: I heard what you did for me. I don’t know how I’ll ever be able to thank you.

Tripp: You don’t have to.

Allie: Are you kidding? Tripp, you told satan to take you instead of me. You let the devil possess you. I mean, you threw yourself out a window.

Tripp: I had to stop him. Make sure he couldn’t hurt you again.

Allie: Tripp, you could have died. Actually, you did for a little while.

Tripp: Guess I’m a hard guy to kill.

Allie: [Sighs] I– I would never have forgiven myself if we’d lost you.

Tripp: You didn’T.

Allie: After everything I did to you– lying… cheating… breaking– breaking your heart… why would you sacrifice your life for mine?

Tripp: Because despite all of that.. I can’t deny what’s in my heart. I still love you, allie.

It’s started. Somewhere between a cuddle suspense, chad. What is it you need to say?

Chad: It’s just that… I think that we’ve all spent enough time focused on regrets. We need to look forward now. And, ej, my brother… I couldn’t be happier… that we’re doing it together.

Belle: Hear, hear.

Ej: Shall we get the ball rolling?

Chad: Yeah, I’ll call shin and let him know that we need to get the shareholders together today.

[Tense atmospheric music]

Gabi: Don’t you wanna enjoy a little one-on-one time tonight?

Shin: I do. And it’ll give us a chance to brainstorm about our next acquisition.

Gabi: Yeah, and enjoy some champagne. I can talk to you about the gabi chic summer line. My favorite piece is a little too sexy for the office, but I could show you for tonight.

[Phone rings]

Shin: Oh, excuse me. Hello?

Chad: Li, it’s chad dimera.

Shin: What can I do for you?

Chad: My brother ej and i are calling the shareholders together for a vote to remove gabi as ceo. Today.

Shin: I think that’s a big mistake. But I’m with gabi and jake now. I’ll let them know.

Chad: 4:00. See you then.

[Phone beeps]

Gabi: What was that about?

Shin: Chad and ej are calling a shareholders’ meeting for today at 4:00.

Jake: What for?

Gabi: Well, to push me out, obviously. No, we can’t let them do this.

Shin: Don’t panic. You have me on your side. And jake, of course. I’m confident we’ll walk away victorious. I’ll see you at the meeting. And tonight, we’ll celebrate.

[Tense music]

Gabi: I am so screwed.

[Sighs]

Jan: The idea is not as crazy as you think.

Shawn: Look, jan, I’m gonna say it again. There is no way that my sister’s gonna feel comfortable leaving you alone with her son.

Jan: No, no. She doesn’t have to. You could be here with me. And you could do all the hands-on work and I’ll just be here to assist or whatever. Just tell ciara that she would be doing this for her future niece or nephew, so that when the baby is born, it’ll have two confident, capable parents. Will you ask her, please? Just, again, tell her that you’ll do all the work and I’ll just be here observing.

Shawn: Okay, fine. Yeah. Like, I suppose– yeah, I’ll ask.

Jan: Thank you.

Shawn: Okay, but don’t get your hopes up, ’cause I’m almost positive it’s gonna be a hard no.

Jan: Well, even so, I’m grateful that you’re willing to do this for me. So you’ll ask ciara now?

Shawn: Well, I was gonna go check on her and see how she’s doing, so… yes, I’ll ask her.

Jan: Shawn, you have no idea how much this means to me.

[Tense music]

Chanel: Tripp risked his own life to save allie?

Johnny: Yeah, he– he jumped out of the loft window. Yeah.

Chanel: What? I can’t believe he did that after she cheated on him with me. They were supposed to get married, have a future together, and all of that was destroyed.

Johnny: Tripp said none of that mattered because of the way that he felt about her.

Chanel: I thought he hated allie. That he’d never forgive her.

Johnny: No, it’s got nothing to do with forgiveness. It’s about love. When you love somebody that much, you’ll do anything for them. I know how that feels.

[Dramatic music]

[Monitor beeping]

Tripp: You might not believe that I still feel this way about you, given how hostile I’ve been. I mean, it’s hard to admit, even to myself. But my dad and kayla helped me see that my anger was just a way of hiding how hurt I was. And when I found out that you were possessed and… that your body had been violated by this evil being, it reminded me of–

Tripp: Yeah. I promised you I’d never let you get hurt like that again.

Allie: Tripp, you didn’t need to protect me. I never expected you to do that.

Tripp: I had no choice, allie. Because of how I feel about you. It’s okay. You don’t have to say anything.

Allie: Yes, I do. Because I need to tell you how I feel about you, tripp. Because I still love you too. The lows of bipolar depression how the votes are gonna go. So I’ll have the two of us, obviously, plus shin and stefano’s grandson steven hawk. He was with us last time.

Jake: All right. So that’s four we can count on.

Gabi: Yeah, and then ej, tony, and chad are against us, plus kate.

Jake: Thanks to me.

Gabi: Thanks to both of us.

Jake: All right. So let’s see. Last time they had theo’s proxy, right? And my brother peter’s vote. So we can probably count on them voting that way this time. And then johnny’s probably gonna vote with ej, right?

Gabi: Yeah, that’s seven against us. Not even close, okay? We should just concede.

Jake: No, no, no. The gabi hernandez I know would not give up that quickly.

Gabi: What am I supposed to do, just pull some votes out of my–

Jake: No, no, no. We’ll do what we did last time. We’ll make phone calls, see who we can flip, all right? Remember, they need a majority. A tie is still a win for us.

Gabi: All right, but I’m not calling kate because i canned her ass.

Jake: I’ll do it.

[Phone beeps]

[Line ringing] Kate, hey, it’s jake. Listen, I don’t know if you heard, but I’m back to work at the company and we’re having a shareholders’ meet–

Jake: Not a chance.

Ej: How are things going between you and shawn?

Belle: Well, I ran into him when they took ben and ciara’s baby to the hospital, so we went and checked on them together.

Ej: And?

Belle: And it was really nice to see him hold his nephew for the first time. Kind of reminded me of when claire was small. We were kind of having a moment, and then jan called and ruined it. Ugh, and get this. She called me earlier too.

Ej: Why?

Belle: I don’t know. She said she had something she wanted to talk to me about, but she wouldn’t tell me over the phone, so…

Ej: Are you going to go see her?

Belle: Yeah, I think I’d rather ignore her.

Ej: Or you could take the opportunity to tell her to her face that she’s not going to ruin your marriage.

Chad: The meeting’s all set.

Belle: Huh. All right. Well, good luck, boys. Let me know how it goes.

Ej: Well done.

Shin: I’m very dismayed at the outcome, but now that all the votes are in… I will call this meeting to a close.

[Call ringing]

Jake: What the hell is that?

Shin: Someone else is dialing in to the meeting.

[Ringing]

Belle: You cannot be serious.

Jan: Baby needs a place to sleep and your office is the best option.

Belle: All right. Jan, let me see how I can put this delicately. There is no way in hell that I am giving up my office. And this arrangement, you staying here, is temporary, because as soon as that baby is born, you’re going back to prison.

Jan: What about the baby? He or she will need a place to be regardless of where I am. Although, just a heads up, I plan to be right here, with shawn and our precious baby.

Chanel: Are you sure you’re okay?

Allie: I’m fine. What I wanna know is if you’re okay. I mean, johnny told me there’s something going on with your mom.

Eric: Sarah?

Xander: Kayla gave sarah the antidote to rolf’s drug and it worked. She’s completely back to normal, except–

Eric: Except what?

Xander: For some reason, she doesn’t know that– your daughter, mickey–

Eric: What? What doesn’t she know?

Xander: That your baby died.

Nicole: You’re here to get your baby?

Sarah: Mm-hmm.

Nicole: Uh, what baby?

Sarah: Mickey, of course. Xander said that she was here.

Nicole: Xander told you that mickey was here? With me?

Sarah: Uh, well, no. No. He said that she was with eric. And since you and eric live together, I just– I assumed she was here.

Nicole: Listen, I don’t know what xander told you or why, but–

Sarah: Nicole, it’s okay. You don’t have to pretend. I know.

Nicole: Know what?

Sarah: I know that you told eric that mickey is his daughter.

Lani: So that’s it? You get to make all the decisions and I just– I have to go along with them?

Paulina: When it comes to protecting you from a murder charge, hell, yes.

Lani: Okay, paulina, I need you to listen.

Paulina: Look, no, lani. I am done arguing about this. Now, I am going–I’m going to plead guilty. And you, you’re going to live a long, happy life with your family.

Chanel: I was–was just on my way to go visit mama down at the police station. I-I thought she could use a pick-me-up.

Julie: She could use more than that. She deserves a medal for what she did.

Chanel: Agreed. But all I can offer her right now is a whole lot of sugar.

Julie: And your love and your support. And I know that’s going to mean the world to her. Well, I guess I have to find another bakery. Though their treats won’t be nearly as delicious as yours.

Chanel: I–I pretty much packed up the entire store, so take these.

Julie: Are you sure?

Chanel: Of course. And give eli a hug for me.

Julie: Well, thank you, darling; that’s very kind.

Chanel: You’re very welcome.

Julie: When you see your mother, from me, tell her to hang in there. Because every right-thinking person knows she did nothing wrong. Bye, sweetie.

Abe: Paulina didn’t kill ray. She’s protecting lani.

Eli: We don’t know that for sure.

Abe: Some pretty big holes in her story.

Eli: Yes, but we– abe, you and I both know that we cannot jump to any conclusions. But if there’s more to this story, I can’t be blindsided by it.

Abe: What are you thinking?

Eli: I need to talk to my wife.

Paulina: We’ve been over this. Now, if you confess, you’ll lose everything. Your career, your– your husband, your kids.

Lani: And what about everything you would lose?

Paulina: Well, I might not even be locked up. I told you, I’m going to say it was an act of self-defense. A jury will believe me.

Lani: You don’t know that. And you shouldn’t be facing a jury, paulina. You didn’t shoot anyone.

Paulina: Well, I may not have pulled the trigger. But for what happened, it is entirely–entirely on me.

[Sighs] I’m the one who made the mistake of trusting ray coates, bringing him close again.

Lani: You thought he’d changed.

Paulina: Well, I should have known better. I did know better. Lani, please. Just let me do this. I–I will be exonerated.

Lani: Even if you are, paulina, I would still know what I did. And how–how am I supposed to do my job like that? How do I face my husband? How do I talk to my children about courage and–and honesty? I would be a complete hypocrite. No. I don’t– I don’t want to live like that. I can’t live like that. Do you hear me? I–I need to tell rafe the truth right now.

Eli: Lani just went to the station to see paulina.

Abe: She’ll be back pretty soon.

Eli: I don’t think it can wait.

Abe: You’re not thinking of going down there to see her, are you?

Julie: Ah! There you are. Wow, eli. I was so worried when I went into your room and you weren’t there. And then a nurse told me I would find you here.

Eli: Yeah, I’m–I’m sorry about that, grandma.

Julie: What are you doing out of bed?

Eli: I–I just–I just came to say hi to abe and see what trouble he’s been into since I’ve been asleep.

Julie: Mm. Hello, abraham.

Abe: Hey, julie.

Julie: Will you excuse me while I chastise my grandson? The last time you got out of bed, you collapsed. You remember that? I do.

Eli: Okay, well, I’m feeling much better now, grandma.

Julie: Wonderful. That’s just wonderful, but you just woke up from a coma, darling. And I’m sure that your doctors didn’t mean for you to wander around the hospital making social calls. So let me escort you back to your room where you can rest. And look, I have– I have a box of bear claws with your name on it.

Eli: Thank you, grandma, but I–I’m sorry. I–I got to run.

Julie: Eli. What could possibly be so urgent?

Paulina: Lani, no. You can’t tell rafe the truth.

Lani: I’m sorry, paulina, but it is not up to you.

Paulina: The hell it isn’t! No, lani, I won’t let you do this.

Chanel: What are you two arguing about?

Paulina: Uh, well, lani was just blaming herself for not seeing through ray sooner. And I told her– I was telling her, I– you know, I was fooled too. No need to shoulder the blame alone. What she needs to do is go back to the hospital and be with her husband.

Chanel: Mama’s right.

Paulina: Mama’s right.

Lani: Okay. I will head out then.

Chanel: Give eli my love.

[Dramatic music]

Eric: Sarah thinks mickey’s alive?

Xander: Her memory is completely fine otherwise. But for some reason, around the baby, there’s just this glitch.

Eric: So why did they release her from the hospital?

Xander: I thought it was too soon. But sarah’s brain scans, they came back normal and kayla didn’t think there’s be any lasting effects from the drug.

Eric: In other words, this “glitch” is gonna wear off?

Xander: It hasn’t yet. We got back to the house, and sarah made a beeline for the nursery. And as soon as she saw that it was empty, she thought mickey had been kidnapped. And I–I panicked.

Eric: Meaning what?

Xander: Sarah was freaking out and demanding answers. And I–I may have told her that the baby was with you.

Eric: Xander, why didn’t you just tell her the truth?

Xander: I told you, I was panicking.

Eric: What were you thinking?

Xander: That I had to protect sarah. That I couldn’t let her go through the pain of finding out that her baby died all over again.

Eric: Or maybe you were just too scared because you were afraid that sarah was gonna hate you all over again.

Nicole: So you know that I told eric that mickey is his daughter?

Sarah: Well, it–don’t worry, xander explained everything. He said, you know, after kristen had injected me with that drug, no one was sure that I would even be able to be a parent to my little girl anymore. And so you thought it was right that her other parent know the truth.

Nicole: Okay.

Sarah: And, you know, nicole, I know that I’m the one that forced you to keep this huge secret from eric in the first place. Because, you know, when I found out that I was pregnant, you guys were already together. And I–I don’t want anyone to be with me out of obligation. And so then, xander offered to say that he was the father and–and whe– when I was sick– you did the right thing. You know, you risked your relationship and your happiness for my daughter’s well-being. And that’s a really amazing thing that you did.

Nicole: Wow, I–I– I don’t know what to say.

Sarah: And–and since eric is here, I’m guessing that he understood, which just so great. And I’m fine, as you can see, so I just–I would really like to take my baby home. So where are they?

Nicole: Sarah, uh–

Sarah: Is mickey napping? Oh. I think eric’s getting her up. Eric?

[Giggles]

Rafe: Hey.

[Dramatic music]

Sarah: Ah, hi, rafe. What are you, um– oh, my god. Are you cheating on eric?

Nicole: No, I–no, I’m not.

Sarah: Then–then why is he here?

Nicole: Sarah, honey, look. You–you don’t understand.

Sarah: Yeah, and I–I don’t– I don’t think that I want to. I just–I just need to get mickey.

Rafe: I’m sorry, did you say mickey?

Sarah: My daughter. Why are you looking at me like that?

Rafe: Um–

Nicole: Sarah, mickey is– not–not here.

Sarah: What? Why?

Nicole: Because eric and I split up.

Eric: Admit it. You lied to sarah because you’re a selfish coward.

Xander: I protected sarah. She’s been through enough, eric. She was drugged, kidnapped, held captive on some godforsaken island. Then she comes home, only to be drugged all over again.

Eric: And that justifies you deceiving her about her own child?

Xander: You know what it did to sarah the last time she found out about mickey. I couldn’t–I couldn’t put her through all that again right now. I–surely you understand that.

Eric: You know what I understand? I understand wanting to protect somebody from needlessly suffering. But the only one you were trying to prevent from suffering is you.

Xander: Are you gonna help sarah or not?

Eric: Maggie cannot be okay with this.

Xander: Oh, she’s not. She’s very clear that we have to tell sarah the truth. And I will.

Eric: You’re gonna tell her the truth today.

Xander: Why?

Eric: I don’t know. Maybe because sarah’s gonna notice when no one brings the baby home?

Xander: Well, I might have a fix for that.

Chanel: How you doing, mama?

Paulina: You know, not exactly the ritz, but I’ve slept in worse places. What’d you bring me?

Chanel: I thought you could use some comfort food.

Paulina: [Chuckles] Ooh, muffins, scones. Alice’s famous donuts. I don’t see any bear claws.

Chanel: Oh, sorry, I gave them to julie. She was going to see eli.

Paulina: Oh, well, I hope he will enjoy them. And I will enjoy this–ooh, this chocolate croissant. Mm-mm. Ooh. Split it with me?

Chanel: I’m–I’m not hungry.

Paulina: Just one bite.

Chanel: Mama, no. We need to talk.

Paulina: Mm-mm. Oh, the color, the flake. Mm, girl, you got– you got some serious skills.

Chanel: Mama–

Eli: You sound like my grandmother.

Lani: Yeah, well, julie is a very smart woman who loves you just as much as I do. And we waited so long for you to wake up. Okay? So don’t push it.

Eli: All right. I’m sorry.

Lani: Well, I’m here now. You wanna tell me what is so important?

Eli: It’s about paulina.

Lani: What about her?

Eli: I’m not so sure she’s guilty.

Julie: Eli hasn’t gone back to work, has he?

Abe: Oh, heavens, no.

Julie: Well then, why is he racing out of here?

Abe: He’s concerned about this situation with lani.

Julie: Oh. Because paulina shot tr coates?

Abe: Right. Yeah.

Julie: Well, I’ll tell anybody that listens, paulina deserves a parade, not prison time.

Abe: I know you feel strongly about this.

Julie: Well, of course I do. The bastard nearly killed my grandson and you. And lani. [Sighs] He had to be stopped. If paulina hadn’t taken that gun and blown him away–

Abe: That–that’s not what happened. No matter who you are,

Eric: Why do I have a feeling I’m not gonna like this “fix” of yours?

Xander: Well, at least hear me out. I’ll just tell sarah that you and nicole went off on a little holiday and took the baby with you. And while you’re “away,” that’ll buy me time to break the news to her.

Eric: Nicole and I are–

Xander: Sarah thinks you’re still together. She was stranded on fantasy island when everything– hit the fan. What matters is she won’t be suspicious.

Eric: Xander, nicole and i are divorced. She’s moved on with rafe.

Xander: So you pretend.

Eric: You mean lie?

Xander: It’s not like you’ll be hurting anyone. In fact, you’ll be doing a good deed for sarah. Will you–will you do it?

[Cell phone ringing] Hold that thought. Maggie? Maggie, is everything okay? What do you mean sarah’s gone? She must be looking for mickey.

Eric: Wait, xander! Hey, where are you going?

[Sighs]

Sarah: You and eric split up?

Nicole: A while ago.

Sarah: What happened? Oh, no. When I got sick, you told him the truth, and he didn’t understand. He broke things off?

Nicole: No. No. Sarah, it’s not that. Uh, it’s complicated.

Sarah: Um, you know what? It–it doesn’t matter. I just need to find eric and get my baby, so– um, thank you, nicole.

Nicole: Um, okay, sarah? Sarah, before–oh.

Rafe: Wow.

Julie: What do you mean, that’s not what happened? Tr attacked you. And then he turned on paulina and attacked her when lani came in. And to save all the people that she loved, paulina shot him.

Abe: Tr is– well, there was obviously no love lost between me and tr. He was–he was obviously just a horrible man. But I think that he convinced himself that he cared for lani. She was his daughter. I don’t think he would have killed her. He loved her.

Julie: Please. If he loved her that much, abe, he wouldn’t have shot her husband.

Abe: You’re probably right.

Julie: Of course I’m right. Tr only cared about his own skin. And paulina knew it. And so, she shot him. That makes her a hero to me.

Paulina: What’s gotten into you?

Chanel: Me? You’re the one sitting here going on about pastries like we’re lounging by your pool in miami instead of sitting here at the police station.

Paulina: Well, chanel, what would you have me do? Just wring my hands and wallow in misery?

Chanel: No, but taking this seriously might be a good idea. You do know why you’re here, right?

Paulina: My lawyers are taking care of everything. With what I’m paying them, they’d better.

Chanel: Okay, I’m sure you’ve got a great legal team, but– but that doesn’t mean you’re gonna walk away from this. It’s not like you’re innocent.

Paulina: Chanel, you’re worrying over nothing. Now, at worst, I’ll just get a slap on the wrist.

Chanel: And what if you don’t? What if they–what if they put you away for years? Mama–mama, I’m scared. I just–I don’t know what I’ll do if I lose you.

Lani: You don’t think paulina is guilty? Why would you say that?

Eli: A few things.

Lani: Such as?

Eli: When you first told me about the shooting you said that “paulina said that she shot tr.”

Lani: She did.

Eli: That phrasing.

Lani: About what?

Eli: I mean, lani, don’t– don’t you think that’s kind of strange? I mean, why would you put it that way if you were there? You witnessed the shooting. I mean, why wouldn’t you just say, “paulina shot tr”?

Lani: I was upset. I had just– well, I had just saw my–my biological father get murdered. So I–I guess I wasn’t forming perfect sentences. Is there anything else that you want to grill me on, detective?

Eli: We can talk about it later.

Lani: No. We can do it right now. I’m ready. Next question.

Eli: Okay. Tr was shot with your service weapon. It was your gun.

Lani: I know. I holstered it so I could arrest ray. And then paulina grabbed it. That’s all.

Eli: Okay, but I just finished talking to your dad. He said that after tr hit him and he went down, that he thought he heard paulina say, “what have you done?” Why do you think she would say that?

Lani: How should I know, eli?

Eli: Maybe because she was talking to you. Maybe she was asking you that question. Because you shot tr. My moderate to severe plaque psoriasis…

[Knocking on door]

Nicole: Okay. Okay.

Xander: Where’s sarah?

Nicole: Hello to you too.

Xander: Damn it, nicole. Where is sarah?

Rafe: Watch your tone.

Xander: I don’t have time for pleasantries. Is sarah here or not?

Nicole: She left. She went to find her baby. Her baby that died years ago. Care to explain what that’s about?

Eric: Sarah.

Sarah: Hey.

Eric: So nice to see you.

Sarah: You too.

Eric: How are you feeling?

Sarah: Ah, you mean since kristen shot me up with some crazy drug? Uh, great, actually.

Eric: I’m happy to hear that.

Sarah: Yeah.

Eric: I–I’m–I’m sorry for everything you went through.

Sarah: Thank you. Um, I don’t remember much of it, to be honest with you, which is probably a good thing.

Eric: Right. Yeah. Right.

Sarah: But anyway, I’m– I’m fine. I’m out of the hospital. And I–I feel like my old self and fully capable of being a good parent to my child– our child. I know that nicole told you the truth about mickey. God, you must hate me.

Eric: No. No. Not at all.

Sarah: Really?

Eric: Really. Really, sarah. I– I understand.

Sarah: That’s so kind of you. I wasn’t sure, because nicole said you guys had broken up.

Eric: Yeah. Yeah. It was a while ago. I mean, things are fine between us now and I’ve moved on. And so has she.

Sarah: Yes. With rafe. I–I just saw him, ’cause I– I went to nicole’s house because I thought mickey was there. Because I thought you were there, but anyway, eric, I–I am so desperate to hold our little girl. Could you please go get her?

Julie: So the night that all of this happened, I don’t suppose you even had a chance to tell paulina about your feelings?

Abe: [Chuckles] He knocked me out before I could.

Julie: So what are you doing lying here? You should be running over to that police station toot sweet.

Abe: I think paulina has a little more on her mind right now than my feelings.

Julie: What could be more important than telling her you want her back?

Abe: I just don’t think it’s the right time.

Julie: No. No. Don’t tell me you’ve changed your mind.

Abe: [Sighs]

Paulina: You’re not going to lose me, baby. It’s simply not going to happen.

Chanel: You don’t know that. When daddy died, you promised me that everything was gonna be okay, because I’d always have you.

Paulina: And I intend to keep that promise. I’m not going to leave you, no matter what.

Chanel: You might not have a choice. I ca–I can’t believe this is happening. You and I, we are finally in a good place after all these years of conflict and fighting. And I–I love being close to you, being able to see you whenever I want.

Paulina: That’s not going to change.

Chanel: I want to believe you. But after daddy, johnny, and allie–no one stays. No one–no one ever stays.

Paulina: I am not going to prison. Now, I have complete confidence in my lawyers, and I need you to have confidence in me. Now, if the worst happens– and–and it won’t, you won’t be alone. You’ll have big mama.

Chanel: Seriously?

Paulina: I know, I know, she’s getting older.

Chanel: It’s not that. She lives in miami.

Paulina: Well, you love miami.

Chanel: Yeah, but I’m not moving back there. I–I have a bakery now.

Paulina: Of course. Of course, I was just pointing out–you can always visit and you– you got family here too. Your sister and eli and your little niece and nephew. They’ll always be there for you.

Chanel: I know. I know, and I love them, but they’re–they’re just not–

Paulina: Th–not–not what?

Chanel: My mama.

Lani: You think I shot tr?

Eli: Lani, I don’t think anything. I’m just–I’m just asking.

Lani: Because of something my father may have heard while he was barely conscious?

Eli: And other reasons that I mentioned.

Lani: Wow. Hm. You are really interrogating me.

Eli: And you get why. Lani, you’re a cop. I know you understand.

Lani: I also didn’t realize that I was a suspect.

Eli: Baby, you still haven’t answered my question. No matter what, lani, I’m on your side. Baby, all I want to do is help you, but I can’t, unless I know exactly what’s going on. Baby, whatever it is– whatever it is, we’ll get through it together. I love you. But I got to know. You have to tell me. Who really shot tr?

Lani: It was me. Okay, snacks and popcorn are gonna be expensive.

[Soft dramatic music]

Lani: It all happened so fast. I walked into paulina’s apartment with my gun drawn. And I saw tr about to hit paulina. And my father was on the floor, bleeding. And I just thought all this pain–all this pain was caused by tr. And I wanted him to stop. And I wanted to be the one to stop him. So I did.

Eli: You pulled the trigger.

Lani: That wasn’t my intention. I went there to arrest him for what he did to you. And I–and I– and I killed him. I killed my own father.

Eli: That man is not your father, lani. Abe is your father, and you saved his life.

Lani: And I also shot an unarmed man. And I–I was–I was gonna take responsibility. I swear that I was and– but then steve johnson walked in, and then paulina just blurted out that she– that she shot tr. And I was in shock, so I just–I– I went along with it. But not anymore.

Eli: Not–wait, what do you mean?

Lani: That’s why I went to the police station, to tell paulina that I–I wasn’t gonna let her take the blame.

Eli: I’m sure she wasn’t trying to hear that.

Lani: No. Not at all. She–she said that if the truth comes out, that I will lose my career, my family, my whole life. And then she begged me– she begged me to let her do this for me.

Eli: She is your mother.

Lani: Exactly. Which is why I cannot let her go to prison, eli. She won’t listen to me, but maybe you–maybe– maybe you can help me convince her that–that– that she–she can’t do this, that this–this is crazy.

Eli: Maybe it’s not.

Abe: I haven’t changed my mind about paulina. But I think the timing is far from optimal.

Julie: I disagree.

Abe: So you think I should declare my love while she’s sitting in a jail cell?

Julie: Frankly, I can’t think of anything more romantic.

Abe: I appreciate the encouragement, julie. But I think it’s best if I wait.

Julie: Well, of course, I can’t make you do anything. But I wouldn’t wait too long, abraham. I really think this is exactly what paulina needs to hear. Something life affirming, something–something hopeful. Something she can hang on to.

Xander: [Sighs] Nicole, why would you tell sarah that you broke up with eric?

Nicole: Because it’s the truth.

Xander: Of all the thoughtless things you could’ve said.

Rafe: I said watch your tone.

Nicole: Rafe–

Rafe: No, I’m not gonna stand here and let him talk to you like that.

Xander: It’s okay. It’s okay. I can still–I can still save this. All you have to do is tell sarah that you and eric got back together.

Nicole: What?

Xander: Yeah, just explain that you realized you made a horrible mistake, and you decided to give it another go, and now you’re heading off on a belated honeymoon.

Nicole: So you want me and my ex-husband to pretend that we’re on vacation with his baby daughter, who died tragically years ago?

Xander: It’s perfect.

Nicole: It’s insane.

Xander: Nicole, would you be a team player for just once in your life?

Nicole: No! I am not doing it.

Xander: Oh, I see. This is payback. You’re still angry that I blew up your marriage to father sanctimonious. And now you want my plan to go bust.

Nicole: I am not doing it because it won’t help. It will only make things worse.

Lani: No! [Gasps]

Eli: Lani. What is it?

Paulina: What have you done?

[Monitor beeping]

TR: Look, I don’t blame you for feeling that way. I mean, the way I treated you, it… it was unforgivable. I’m truly sorry.

Paulina: You’re what?

TR: You heard me. But I don’t expect you to forgive me. And I know this might just sound like words to you, but I’m not that man anymore. You are the love of my life.

Nicole: Chloe, it has been such a horrible night. I mean, between almost losing allie to the devil and–and tr coates being shot, I mean, rafe has been at the station almost all night. So I’m gonna take the day off and spoil him a little.

[Cell phone beeps] Finally. I have been waiting all night to make love to you…

Nicole: I thought you were rafe.

Eric: I kind of got that.

Nicole: I’m sorry.

Eric: No, it’s okay. I should’ve called first. I just wanted to check on allie, see how she’s doing.

Nicole: She is surrounded by people who love her, and we’re gonna take really good care of her. Come in. In fact, she’s, um, with lucas. They took henry to the park…

Eric: Mm.

Nicole: To feed the ducks.

Eric: Mm. Remember when we used to do that with holly? How–how is she?

Nicole: Oh, she’s still processing what happened between us, but she’s doing much better now. I know she’d love to see you. Maybe you can come back this afternoon?

Eric: I can’T. I’m, uh–I’m leaving salem.

Xander: What are we gonna tell sarah?

Maggie: Well, how about the truth? You know, every time I try to bring it up in the car, you cut me off, wouldn’t let me get in a word. And then you let sarah rush up to the nursery without saying a word. What could you possibly be thinking?

Xander: [Sighs]

Sarah: The baby’s room is empty. Where’s mickey? Where could she be?

Steve: Abraham.

Abe: Hey. Steve.

Steve: Looking good, dude.

Abe: Thank you. Well…

Steve: How you feeling?

Abe: I’m ready to get the hell out of here.

Steve: Oh, yeah.

Abe: How’s tripp?

Steve: Well, thanks to the devil, my son almost lost his life saving allie’S. Kayla actually had pronounced him dead.

Abe: My god.

Steve: But then…

[Sighs] Well, let’s just say we got our miracle. Tripp came back to us. He’s gonna be just fine.

Abe: Oh, that is wonderful news.

Steve: Yeah, the best. And ava’s there with him. She’s pretty much refusing to leave his side, so I thought I would come by, see if you’re doing okay.

Abe: Yeah, aside from the nasty bump. But as you know, I’m pretty hardheaded. But I am concerned about paulina.

Rafe: When you were arrested, you said you weren’t gonna answer any questions without your lawyer present. If you still feel that way, I am happy to call your attorney and get him down here before we talk.

Paulina: No, I’m okay. I have nothing to hide.

Rafe: Okay, then. All right, I’m just gonna need you to sign this… waiver to counsel before we start, yeah?

Paulina: Uh… of course.

Rafe: All right, then… let’s get started.

[Device beeps] Why don’t you start by telling me what happened the night that, uh, tr was shot?

Paulina: [Sighs] Uh… tr came over and talked me into going away with him, and when I got back into the living room, after I had packed, I– I heard a noise. And, uh, I found abe lying on the floor. He was hurt, unconscious, bleeding. I wanted to call for help, but tr wouldn’t let me. And, uh, he grabbed my phone. I tried to grab it back from him. And then he raised his arm like he was gonna hit me. And I vowed a very long time ago that I was never gonna let him hurt me again.

Rafe: Then what happened?

Paulina: Well, you know the answer to that. I shot the son of a bitch.

Rafe: Okay. This was recovered… at the scene, this weapon. Can you confirm that this is the weapon you used to shoot tr coates?

Paulina: Uh… yes, yes, it is.

Rafe: That’s lani’s service weapon. So can you explain to me how a cop’s gun ended up in your hand to shoot the shot that killed a man?

Lani: Um…

[Monitor beeping] I had a bad dream about ray.

Eli: Baby, I-I’m sorry. I don’t like to speak ill about the dead, but that man was a nightmare when he was alive.

Lani: He was. And he… he came so close to killing you, eli. And when I walked into paulina’s apartment, I… um…

Eli: Lani. You still haven’t told me what went down at paulina’s, except that paulina said that she shot tr.

Paulina: Go ahead, you coward!

Lani: You son of a bitch.

TR: Lani, baby, I can explain!

Steve: I did. You on the floor, tr dead… I got to say, I’ve been wondering exactly what happened before I got there.

Abe: What did lani and paulina tell you?

Steve: Well, paulina said she shot coates. But I’m just not clear on how that happened.

Abe: What do you mean?

Steve: Well, apparently she used lani’s gun. How did she get her hands on a service weapon?

Paulina: [Stammers] I’m sorry. With all that’s happened, I’m getting ahead of myself. Rushed straight to the part about tr getting shot.

Rafe: That’s okay. Take your time.

Paulina: Uh… tr was about to hit me, like I said, and that’s when lani came in, and she, uh– she told tr to put his hands up, step away from me.

Rafe: And then what happened?

Paulina: Lani holstered her gun so she could arrest him, and just as she was about to handcuff him, I grabbed her gun.

Rafe: Oh. So you grabbed it from the holster?

Paulina: Yes, I did. And I shot that bastard right through his heart.

Lani: [Sighs] This isn’t your case, detective grant, all right? So why don’t you focus your energy on getting out of this bed and back into ours?

Eli: That sounds like a plan.

Lani: Sounds like a really good plan.

Eli: Maybe I can’t ask questions, but I’m worried about you. I’m worried about your mom, too.

Lani: I know. I am, too, which is why I need to get down to the station and check on her, all right? Hey. I am so grateful for you. And I’m so happy that you’re gonna be okay. I love you very much.

Eli: I love you, too.

[Monitor beeping]

[Dramatic music]

Rafe: Paulina… why? Why did you shoot tr? Because the way you describe the situation, it does not sound like he was a threat to you in that moment.

Paulina: The man shot eli! He attacked abe, who was out cold bleeding on the ground! I couldn’t let him get away with any of that!

Rafe: Again, you said that he was just about to be handcuffed, which means he wasn’t a threat.

Paulina: Do you know how many times when I was just a young girl that the cops came to our door after the man beat me to within an inch of my life and they just gave him a good talking-to and then left me there to get an even worse beating behind that same door?

Rafe: Well, I’m sorry that happened to you. The way police responded to domestic violence in the past was criminal, and we’ve changed things, but I’m sure we can still do better.

Paulina: Thank you for admitting that.

Rafe: Mm-hmm. But you knew. You knew that that wasn’t gonna happen to you this time. I mean, you said that lani, your very own daughter, was about to handcuff tr and take him away. So what happened, hmm? Did he resist arrest? Lani do something?

Paulina: Lani did nothing wrong! With relapsing forms of ms,

Rafe: Right now, I am more concerned with what you did and establishing your motives for shooting an unarmed man. I want to help you here, paulina, but… I need you to tell me the truth.

Paulina: I guess I just lost it, and I shot–I shot tr. He deserved it.

Rafe: Okay. Is there anything you want to add to that?

Paulina: No. Nothing. I’ve given my statement. That’s all I have to say.

Rafe: All right. All right, then… we’ll continue this later.

[Device beeps]

[Telephone rings]

[Door closes]

Abe: How did paulina get her hands on lani’s service weapon?

Steve: I just don’t know. But you were unconscious the whole time, right? You didn’t see or hear anything?

Abe: No, I was–I was out. I wa– maybe I did hear something.

Steve: What?

[Door opens]

Eli: Hey.

Abe: Hey.

Eli: You guys having a party without me?

Steve: Eli. Good to see you up and around.

Eli: Kind of happy about it myself.

Steve: Well, I guess I’ll get back to my son and, uh, let you guys catch up. We’ll be talking, right, abe?

Abe: That we will.

Steve: All right. Take care of yourself, eli.

Eli: Will do.

[Monitor beeping]

Abe: Well… I see that you finally woke up after your two-month nap.

[Both chuckle]

Eli: I guess I had to catch up on all that sleep I missed since lani had the twins.

Abe: Hmm, that’s a hell of a way to do it.

Eli: Yeah. I’m just sorry about what lani and paulina have gone through.

Abe: You mean because of tr, that son of a bitch who shot you?

Eli: Yeah. Well, paulina sure did make him pay for it, though, didn’t she?

Paulina: Ooh. Just stay cool, mama. Stick to the story.

[Telephone rings]

[Door closes] Aren’t you a sight for sore eyes?

Lani: Chanel and I– we wanted to come yesterday, but they wouldn’t let us see you.

Paulina: How is chanel doing with all this?

Lani: She’s shaken… and so worried about you.

Paulina: You tell her I’m gonna be just fine.

Lani: Well, I’m not… because we both know that you’re not the one who should be sitting here. It should be me.

Eric: I’m glad you’re home.

Nicole: Mm.

Eric: I wouldn’t want to– to leave town without saying goodbye.

Nicole: Eric, at the risk of sounding self-centered, which we both know I am…

Eric: [Chuckles]

Nicole: Are you leaving salem because of me?

Sarah: Mickey is with eric?

Xander: Yes.

Sarah: Mom, would you give xander and I a moment, please?

Maggie: Uh, well, I’m sure that xander would agree that anything that you want to discuss with him, you can certainly say it in front of me.

Xander: Actually, maggie, I think sarah’s right. We should probably sort this out just the two of us.

Maggie: Fine.

Sarah: Do you want to tell me why mickey is with eric?

Xander: He is mickey’s father.

Sarah: Yes, but he doesn’t know that. You and I agreed, xander. Everyone thinks that you are mickey’s father, including my mother, so none of this makes sense. Unless something’s changed. I thought that you didn’t have a problem keeping the secret about my baby.

Xander: I didn’t think so either.

Sarah: Then why are you acting like the one who’s lost their mind?

Xander: Sarah, look, I just–

[Sighs] There is something I have to tell you.

Sarah: Well… what is it? What do you want to tell me?

Xander: Eric knows that he’s mickey’s father.

Sarah: You told him?

Xander: No.

Sarah: Was it nicole?

Xander: Actually, it was.

Sarah: Why would she do that? She was so concerned that eric would leave her if he found out that he had a child with me that she swore that she would keep this secret. Damn it! I knew I shouldn’t have trusted her.

Xander: Where are you going?

Sarah: I’m gonna go get my baby!

Xander: No, you can’t!

Sarah: I’m gonna have a word with nicole!

Xander: You can’t!

Sarah: Why not?

Xander: Sarah, if you would just please listen to me. Just hear me out for a second. It’s–it’s not–it’s not what you think.

Sarah: Well?

Xander: Well, you have to understand that, you know, when you were injected with that drug, none of us knew if you were ever gonna be okay again, if you would ever be able to be a mother to little mickey ever again. And, you know, your child came so close to losing one parent, we thought it was only fair that–it was only right that the other parent should know the truth.

Sarah: Well, I’m better now, so I’m gonna go get my–

Xander: You can’T.

Sarah: You know, there is a thing called mother’s intuition, and mine is screaming at me right now that there’s something that you are not telling me about my daughter.

Xander: It’s not about mickey. It’s, um… it’s about you, sarah. Maggie and I, we– we’ve been planning this big “welcome home, sarah” scottish breakfast just for you.

Sarah: A scottish breakfast?

Xander: Yes. Henderson knows all about it. He’s been working on it with the kitchen staff all morning, making all my favorites, which I’m sure are about to become your favorites.

Sarah: Hmm. You seem very confident.

Xander: Ah, well, you’ll totally get it when you try it. I mean, there’s gonna be square sausage and fried haggis and–and–and streaky bacon and tattie scones.

Sarah: That’s enough to feed an army.

Xander: Yeah, well, I mean, you just got out of hospital. You need to get your strength back up.

Sarah: [Chuckles] Oh, okay. That’s very sweet of you.

Xander: Yes.

Sarah: But, um, I’m just gonna grab something on the way to eric and nicole’S.

Xander: Oh, but you can’t go see mickey, you know, wearing this.

Sarah: What’s wrong with it?

Xander: Well, I didn’t want to say anything earlier, but there’s actually–there’s a small hole in the back here. It’s just really all torn up and–

Sarah: Xander!

Xander: I’m sorry. I made it so much worse. Look, why don’t you run upstairs and get changed? And, you know, by the time you’ve done that, breakfast will be ready. Come back down. We’ll have a nice feast and a chat and then go get mackenzie together–what do you say?

Sarah: Okay. I’ve learned how hard it is to say no to you. So, yeah, okay, we’ll have breakfast very quick, and then we’ll go ’cause I’m very excited to see my little girl.

Xander: Of course you are.

Sarah: Okay. Tattie scones?

Xander: Oh, you’re nna love them.

[Chuckles]

Sarah: Huh.

Eric: Are you kidding? Why would you think I’d be leaving town because of you?

Nicole: Well, I don’t know.

[Sighs] Maybe because I’m seeing rafe.

Eric: Nicole, I told you… I’m really happy for you.

Nicole: You know, it’s–it’s funny.

[Sighs] Um… I know what we had is over. You know, different people on different paths, but…

[Sighs] Still every time I see you, there’s a tiny part of me that has a hard time letting you go. We’re still friends, though, right?

Eric: [Chuckles] You’re the best friend I ever had.

Nicole: Your love made me a better person.

Eric: Oh, I know there’s some people who wouldn’t agree with this, including you… but your love made me a better person, too.

[Groans]

Nicole: Hey.

[Soft sentimental music]

Lani: I don’t feel good about this. It’s wrong.

Paulina: Like I said at the apartment, I know what I’m doing. Nothing has changed.

Lani: You’re not the one who killed ray.

Paulina: They only know what we tell them. I just need you to stick to the story.

Lani: And how do I do that? I’ve been able to avoid giving a statement so far, with eli waking up and my dad being hurt, but I cannot avoid rafe forever, and I’m– I’m gonna have to answer some really tough questions, like how you supposedly killed ray with my service weapon.

Paulina: Oh, well, baby girl, I’ve already answered that one. I just told rafe that I grabbed your gun from your holster while you were trying to arrest tr.

Lani: That’s not what happened.

Paulina: Says who?

Lani: Okay, I can’T. I can’t, paulina. I can’t just be quiet and let you take the blame for something that I did. I am going to confess to killing ray.

Paulina: Like hell you are! Still struggling with ibs-c, mike knew he needed a plan.

Eli: Oh, so you got to be the mayor of salem to get the good jell-o, huh?

[Scoffs] They keep giving me the green one. Man…

[Monitor beeping]

Abe: Hmm.

Eli: You’re kind of quiet. You okay?

Abe: Yeah, you know, I’m fine. It’s just– it’s just something that steve said.

Eli: What was that?

Abe: Well, he–he said that paulina used lani’s gun to shoot ray.

Eli: What? Paulina used lani’s gun? Wait, no, I-I just assumed that she used tr’s gun, or she had her own weapon for personal safety.

Abe: So lani didn’t say anything about–about that?

Eli: No, I mean, she’s– she’s pretty stressed and– and–and upset about the whole situation, but, no, she hasn’t offered up any details. Wait. There–there was one thing that was strange.

Abe: What?

Eli: The only thing lani said to me was that paulina said she shot ray. Why do you think she put it that way? Lani was there. She witnessed the shooting.

Paulina: I’m no lawyer, but you’re a cop who shot an unarmed man. There’s no defense for that.

Lani: I came in. I saw my dad on the floor possibly dead. And I already knew that ray had shot the father of my children. And then I saw him raise his hand to you. And, oh, my god, I just… I just–I lost it. I lost it.

Paulina: The bastard deserved it! But as much as he deserved it, you can’t confess to that, baby. They will lock you up. You will lose your job, your freedom, those precious years with your husband and children.

Lani: Paulina, you will go to prison, too.

Paulina: Maybe. Maybe not.

Rafe: Evening.

Eric: Hey.

Nicole: Um, eric was just saying goodbye.

Rafe: Oh. You’re leaving?

Eric: I am. I’m going back to africa.

Rafe: Oh. Well… well, you’ll be missed, man.

Eric: Thanks.

Rafe: Yeah.

Rafe: Yep. Yeah. Well… that was some hug.

Nicole: [Chuckles] It was totally plutonic. You know that. Okay, don’t look at me like that, please.

Rafe: Okay. I’m sorry. It’s just you two were married and, uh, quite recently, in fact. And, um… yeah, he, uh, was your–your first love, right? So…

Nicole: True. But you are my current love.

Rafe: Oh?

Nicole: Mm-hmm. And you have absolutely no reason to be jealous.

Rafe: Really?

Nicole: Mm-hmm. None, zero, zip.

Rafe: Okay. Good.

Maggie: Did you tell sarah about mickey?

Xander: I couldn’T.

Maggie: Xander!

Xander: Maggie, you got to understand. The last time I told sarah that mickey died, she was so angry about me swapping out her child for kristen and brady’s, allowing her to fall in love with their daughter and denying her the opportunity to properly mourn her own that I lost her.

Maggie: But you got her back.

Xander: But then I lost her again to this bloody drug. I finally got her back, maggie. And if I tell her the truth, I’m gonna lose her all over again.

Maggie: But the lie, it’s so big, xander.

Xander: I know. I just–I just feel horrible about it, but I just– I need to find a way to keep sarah in the dark about mickey just until I can figure something out.

Maggie: Xander. Sarah forgave you once. She’ll forgive you again.

Sarah: Forgive xander for what?

Rafe: Right. Yes. Okay, see?

Nicole: Mm-hmm.

Rafe: I know. I shouldn’t be jealous.

Nicole: Right.

Rafe: Eric is part of your past. I have a past, too, obviously.

Both: Yeah.

Nicole: Most of us do.

Rafe: That’s right.

Nicole: Yeah.

Rafe: Yeah, definitely. You know, I think maybe being jealous is just part of being in love, in a relationship.

Nicole: Yeah. It can be.

Rafe: Yeah.

Nicole: But, uh, for you, in your case, I advise you, sir, not to be jealous, because I am completely, absolutely 100% committed to you and only you.

Rafe: Oh, okay. I like that. Yes, I do. So maybe we should take this conversation to the bedroom… maybe even the shower.

Nicole: [Gasps]

Rafe: I don’t know.

[Laughter]

Xander: I was just hoping that you’d forgive me for having to rush out on a work emergency on your first day back home. But I promise I’ll be back soon, my love. And, hey, uh, why don’t you stay with sarah and enjoy the scottish breakfast without me?

Maggie: Scottish breakfast?

Xander: Oh, don’t tell me you forgot about the special welcome-home breakfast. Henderson knows all about it. Don’t forget the streaky bacon, okay? My love… I’ll be back soon, and we’ll go get mickey together, yeah?

[Dramatic music]

Abe: You know, it’s possible that… that lani wasn’t there when tr got shot.

Eli: It doesn’t make sense. I mean, how could paulina have gotten lani’s gun?

Paulina: What have you done?

Abe: Maybe… maybe that’S… who paulina was talking to.

Eli: Wait, you remember something?

Abe: I think maybe I heard paulina talking to lani.

Paulina: Women like me… victims of domestic violence… we can suffer from ptsd. We–we can interpret the words and behavior of a man that hurt us in such a way that when we– we finally find the strength to fight back, we think that we’re acting in self-defense. We actually believe we’re fighting for our lives. Now, maybe I can convince a judge and a jury that’s what happened here.

Lani: I can’t imagine what you went through.

Paulina: Oh, baby, I got stories about what that man did to me I have not told anyone.

[Sighs] I’m still– I made myself– I made myself forget because I’m still–I’m still scared of the memories. I’m still ashamed that I didn’t have the strength to just leave him. I was too weak and just kept coming back for more.

Lani: No, no. I will not let you take the blame. You were ray’s victim. And you did find the strength to leave, to protect yourself, to protect me. And that took… incredible courage.

Paulina: And… what did I do with it? After all these years, I let ray back into my life, into your life. He hurt us all! And I am not going to let him hurt my baby girl… not anymore.

Paulina: Lani, please let me do this for you.

Lani: I can’T. I can’T.

Paulina: Oh, well, if not for you, then let me do it for eli, for abe, most of all, for jules and carver. Now, they all need you. Me, they can–they can get along without me just fine.

Lani: Yeah. But I can’t get along with you. I need you.

Jake: Yeah, it was. And it certainly didn’t put you in a chipper mood, now did it?

Ava: Okay, listen, I’m sorry. All right? I am sorry. I just–I–I cannot believe you have decided to go work for dimera again. I thought that you were done with that nest of vipers. And especially the queen viper herself.

Jake: Queen viper herself? You wouldn’t mean gabi, now would you?

Ava: Oh, yeah, gabi. Yes, and in spite of all the petty and miserable things she’s done, she still has her hooks in you.

Jake: No, no, she doesn’t have her hooks in me, okay? She presented a very good argument for me to back to dimera.

Ava: Mm-hmm. So when she was presenting that argument, was she on the top, bottom–

Steve: What about ciara?

Kayla: She’s fine. Uh, she and ben are, predictably, over the moon.

Steve: Good.

Kayla: They told me what they named him.

Steve: Yeah?

Kayla: They named him bo.

Steve: That’s perfect.

Kate: Lucas, it’s me. I gave you 24 hours, and I haven’t heard a word from you.

[Groans] Everyone is looking for you and sami. They’re wondering where you are. And allie is in trouble, and she needs you. I know that I promised I would keep it a secret what you did to sami, but I am going to have to tell roman.

Roman: Tell roman what?

[Phone beeps]

Ciara: Ben, am I seeing things?

Ben: If you are, then I am too.

Ciara: Daddy?

Bo: In the flesh. Well, not exactly in the flesh.

[Sighs] I’m the one who taught you how to remap a fuel-injection system.

Ciara: [Gasps] It really is you. You came back. You were at the cemetery.

[Baby cries]

Eric: Tripp? Can you hear me?

Demon tripp: Well, that was surprisingly easy. The boy didn’t even put up a fight. But it seems his sacrifice was for naught. Allie is still going to die… and by tripp’s own hands.

Tripp: No! I won’t let you hurt her.

John: Let me help you, son.

Tripp: There is no help. There’s only–

[Glass shattering]

John: [Groans]

[Dramatic music]

Eric: Yeah, let’s get down there.

Marlena: Allie?

Johnny: Hey.

Allie: No, it’s not. Wh–where are we?

Johnny: We’re at st. Luke’S.

Allie: We’re at a church? Why? Wh–what’s going on?

Marlena: Look, we’ll explain about all that. But what’s important is how are you? How do you feel?

Allie: I– I had awful dreams. The baby– there was a baby.

Johnny: Yeah. Allie, listen, that was ciara’s baby. He’s fine now.

Allie: But I– what did I do?

Marlena: Johnny–

Johnny: No, she needs to know. Like I did. You were possessed.

Allie: No. No, that was you.

Johnny: Yeah, yeah, I was. Uh, but then the devil went from me into you. And you fought him so hard, allie, you really did.

Allie: Tripp… tripp–just now I heard his voice. Tripp was here, I know he was. Where is he?

Bo: I’ve been watching over you all along. You, your mom, your brother, and now…this little guy. He’s safe.

Ciara: But the devil is still out there, dad.

Bo: No. The devil’s gone. He’s not coming back.

Ciara: Are you sure?

Bo: Am I– is that any way to speak to your old man?

Ciara: [Chuckles] No. Not at all.

Bo: Yeah, baby, I’m sure. You and this little guy are safe. It’s over.

Ciara: How do you know that, dad? How can you be sure?

Bo: Because one good man sacrificed everything to get rid of him.

Steve: You know, baby, I see a lot of bo in ciara. Don’t you?

Kayla: Oh, all the time. And now she’s so fierce about that little baby. Well, it’s like her dad was always so fierce about his kids.

Steve: Yeah, and that was pretty fierce.

Steve: Hey, do you have time to give stephanie and joe a call and tell them they have a new cousin?

Steve: [Sighs] I’m right behind you.

Jake: I’m starting to think that maybe sometimes you don’t like gabi very much.

Ava: [Scoffs] You’re very funny.

Jake: So a minute ago… when you mentioned that our relationship is platonic, would I be out of line if I said maybe you don’t like that very much? Like, you know, if gabi hadn’t interrupted us that maybe…

Steve: Ava, tripp’s in the hospital. Uh, there’s been an accident.

Ava: Okay, how bad is it?

Steve: I–I don’t know yet. You just need to get down here right away.

Ava: Yeah, I’ll–I’ll be– I’ll be right there.

[Phone beeps]

Jake: Everything okay?

Ava: It’s tripp. I have to get to tripp.

Roman: Wow. Must, uh– whatever it is, this must be, uh, real bad. You’re, uh, ready to set tables rather than, uh, talk to me.

Kate: I– I’m not trying not to talk to you, I’m just trying to figure out how to tell you.

Roman: Tell me what?

Kate: I know that you’re worried about sami.

Roman: And?

Kate: Well, and I am too.

Roman: What?

Lucas: Wait, wait. Because of me? With depression, you just feel…blah.

Lucas: All right, mom. Mom, I can’t breathe. Come on. Hi, roman, how you doing?

Roman: Hey, lucas.

Kate: Okay, so where the hell were you, and why didn’t you answer my phone calls?

Lucas: Well–well, before I get to that, why don’t you just tell me how allie’s doing. Is she okay? Where is she?

Roman: Well, lucas, we’re, uh, sorry about that, but, uh, we don’t know.

Allie: You said I was possessed. Did I do that? Did I hurt tripp?

Eric: Allie… you didn’t hurt tripp, I promise.

Johnny: Allie, you fought the devil. You really fought him.

Eric: Listen, you’re in pretty rough shape. We need to get you home.

Allie: But I need to see tripp.

Eric: No, you don’T. The doctor’s gonna take care of tripp, and we’re gonna take care of you. You need to take care of henry.

Allie: Wait, but ciara’s baby?

Johnny: We didn’t even know where ciara was, you told us. And because of that, that baby boy is with his mom and dad. So come on. Let’s get you home.

Marlena: Yeah. Let’s get you home.

Eric: Come on.

Marlena: Come on, sweetie.

Ciara: Wait, who was it? What do you mean, “sacrifice everything”?

Bo: You’ll find out soon enough. But don’t worry. You and that little guy have a whole lot of bradys and hortons watching over you. Even a weston or two.

Ciara: [Weeps]

Bo: Oh, ben.

Ciara: [Laughs]

Ciara: [Sniffles]

[Sniffles] I always wanted you to meet my dad.

Ava: John, where is he? Wh–where’s tripp?

John: Took him straight to the trauma unit down that way. Steve’s with him.

Jake: I’ll wait here. Go.

Ava: Okay.

Jake: He gonna be okay?

John: I don’t know.

Kayla: 360. Clear.

[Paddles thump]

Ava: Is he gonna be okay? What–what happened to him?

[Monitor flatlining] Why are you stopping? Do it again.

Steve: [Groans]

[Breathes unsteadily]

Roman: What? Wait a minute. Sami’s in the hospital? Why are you just telling me this?

Lucas: Listen, we were skiing in italy, and she was going down this run– and I told her not to do it. I told her it was too advanced, and she wouldn’t listen to me. And she wiped out. She broke her leg. She fractured her leg, she has other fractures– it’s bad. She’s in traction and she can’t fly right now. There’s no way.

Kate: Ah ha. So why didn’t you call?

Lucas: Because the reception was terrible, that’s why. I mean, we did get your message about allie. Which is why, since sami heard that, she insisted that I fly home immediately. So here I am.

Roman: So you just left left her there?

Lucas: I didn’t leave her. I mean, she’ll be fine. You know? She’s in the hands of trained professionals.

Roman: All right, I need to let marlena know.

Kate: Okay, what’s the real story?

Lucas: I just told you the real story.

Kate: Oh. Oh, she’s really in the hospital?

Lucas: Yeah, she is, mom. Now, why would I lie about something like that?

Kate: Oh, I don’t know, maybe because you lied the first time you kidnapped her. Why not this time?

Ben: You know, now more than ever…

[Baby coos] I am so glad we named him after your dad.

Ciara: Mmm.

[Sniffles] It was him at the cemetery, ben.

[Baby cooing]

Jake: I wish I didn’t have to tell you this, but, um… ava got a call about a half hour ago. Tripp was in an accident. Although john made it sound like it was less of an accident, more of A…sacrifice.

Ciara: Ben, my dad said something about a– oh, my god, jake… is tripp dead?

Ava: Kayla, please. Kayla, please do something.

Kayla: Um, I’m sorry. There is nothing else that can be done. I’m–I’m really so sorry.

Ava: Stop saying you’re sorry. You’re not.

Steve: Ava, stop, please.

Ava: No, the hell I will.

Steve: Come on.

Ava: You happy? You happy now?

Steve: [Groans]

Ava: Huh? Now that you got everything that you wanted? You hated–you hated that– that steve and I had– had a son, didn’t you? And so–so you killed him. You just let him die.

Steve: No, ava– ava, stop it! Stop it! Our–our son is dead. Kayla did everything she could. But he’s gone. And you have to stop this. Out of respect for him.

Kayla: Uh… we’re–we’re gonna leave you alone.

Steve: [Sighs]

[Sniffles]

[Emotional music]

Ava: He’s dead.

[Sniffling] Our sweet, perfect boy is dead.

[Sobbing]

[Both crying]

John: Kay?

Kayla: Uh… I lost him.

John: Oh, my god.

Kayla: I did everything I could, but I–

[Sobs] But I lost him.

Kayla: [Exhales heavily]

Johnny: Grandma, you’re a doctor. You think tripp’s gonna make it?

Marlena: Oh, hi.

Allie: He’s sleeping. I don’t even remember the last time I saw him.

Marlena: Well, he’s– he’s been fine. We’ve all been looking after him.

Johnny: Yeah.

Allie: Thank you. But now you need to tell me what happened–what I did.

Marlena: Well, maybe that can wait until you’re a little more rested.

Allie: No, I can’t sleep. I mean, I need to know. You told me that the devil left you and went into me? How?

Johnny: Okay, okay, do you, um–[Clears throat] Do you remember coming to the mansion to tell me off?

Allie: Yes, because you’d–

Johnny: Because I had told tripp about you and chanel. But that wasn’t me, allie.

Allie: It was the devil?

Johnny: You figured that out. And you were helping me fight. But then…

Allie: He went into me?

Johnny: I was so worried about you. I missed you.

Allie: I don’t remember much, but I missed you too. Looking to get back in your type 2 diabetes zone?

Lucas: You think I kidnapped sami?

Kate: Oh, spare me. Seriously, it wouldn’t be the first time.

Lucas: Shh.

Kate: Hey, so did you talk to marlena?

Roman: Uh, voicemail. Left a message. It’s not as if she doesn’t have enough to worry about with allie, now this with sami.

Lucas: Well, you said that something was going on with allie before. She was in some kind of trouble. What’s going on?

Kate: Lucas, allie’s possessed.

Lucas: By the devil? You’re busting my chops not telling you that sami’s in the hospital, and my own daughter’s possessed by the devil now?

Eric: No, no, not any more.

Roman: What happened?

Eric: [Sighs] Tripp, he’s in the hospital. He saved allie’s life.

Lucas: He saved her?

Eric: Allie’s life was at stake. The devil had control of her, and, tripp, he called the devil into him. And then when he had control of tripp, he tried to kill allie.

Lucas: What?

Eric: He threw himself out the church tower window.

Lucas: So where is allie now? Is she at the hospital too?

Eric: No, mom and johnny, they took her over to nicole’s to see henry.

Lucas: I gotta go. I gotta get to her.

[Tense music]

Marlena: Why don’t you get some rest?

Johnny: [Sighs] Allie, you’re falling down tired. Why don’t you do what grandma says.

Allie: I’m home. Thank you.

Johnny: Yeah.

Allie: Thank you.

Marlena: Mm-hmm.

[Both sigh]

[Clears throat]

[Sighs] If tripp doesn’t make it, I don’t know what that’ll do to her.

[Phone ringing]

Marlena: It’s john.

[Phone beeps] John?

John: I’m afraid it’s bad news, doc.

Jake: Your father was here?

Ciara: First at the cemetery, and then right here just now.

[Baby hiccupping]

Ben: John said tripp was trying to save allie.

Jake: Yeah. Yeah, he got the devil to leave her and go into him.

Ben: And he jumped.

Ciara: Um, but allie’s okay? She’s fine?

Jake: Yeah.

Ciara: Back at the cabin, and then at the cemetery, it was so terrifying to look at her beautiful face and to see so much hatred and evil.

[Baby coos]

Ben: Kid, I sure hope the rest of your life is is a lot calmer than the beginning. And I’m so glad that you’re okay.

Ciara: [Sniffles] Yeah.

Jake: Dude… congratulations.

Ciara: Thank you.

Jake: I’m happy for you guys.

Ciara: Thank you.

Jake: All right, I’m gonna go check on tripp. Ava can’t lose him.

Ciara: [Exhales heavily]

[Phone beeps]

John: Doc sends her love.

Jake: It’s bad, isn’t it?

John: Tripp died a few minutes ago.

Jake: Where’s ava?

Kayla: Uh, she’s with steve in the trauma room with tripp.

[Emotional music]

Ava: I wouldn’t know.

[Sniffles] I wasn’t allowed to know him till– so many lost years. So much wasted time.

Steve: [Sighs] Think about the time we did have with him. Okay?

Ava: [Sniffles]

Ava: [Laughs weakly] That was a damn stupid thing to do.

[Sniffles] I’m poison, and he should have just run away.

Ava: I didn’t deserve a son like him.

Steve: That’s not gonna help.

Ava: [Laughs weakly] Maybe I don’t deserve to be helped.

[Baby hiccupping]

[Sighs] Kayla pronounced tripp dead. Then he came back to life.

Ciara: Wow. I believe it. Remember when my dad said that he had something left to do?

Ben: [Exhales]

Ciara: Baby, are you crying?

Ben: [Sighs] Ciara, if he died? Allie, his parents–

[Sighs] It would have killed them.

Ciara: I know.

Ben: I just–I just– I want everybody to just be as happier as we are right now.

Ciara: [Scoffs lightly] You know what?

[Sniffs] I don’t think that anybody can be as happy as we are right now.

[Sniffs]

Ben: [Sighs]

Roman: Thank you, kayla.

[Sighs]

Kate: Well?

Roman: It was close. Kayla thought they’d lost him. But, uh, it does look like, uh, tripp is gonna be just fine.

Eric: Oh, thank god.

Lucas: I’m just so sorry. I should have been here for you.

Allie: No, there’s nothing that you could have done. There’s nothing that anyone could have done. Except tripp. Did you hear about him?

Johnny: Yeah. Uh, yeah, we did.

Allie: [Sniffs] Did he die? Did he die because of me?

Lucas: No, honey, don’t say that. Don’t do that to yourself. Stop, stop.

Allie: Yes. Because I never got to tell him how I felt. I never got to tell him that I love him.

[Sniffles]

Lucas: I’m so sorry.

[Knock at door]

Allie: No, I can’T. I can’t see anyone.

Lucas: Yeah, of course you can’t, it’s not a good time.

Marlena: I’ll take care of it.

Allie: [Weeps]

John: Couldn’t get through. It’s–it’s okay. It’s okay. Allie… tripp…he pulled through. He is alive. And kayla thinks he’s gonna be just fine, honey.

Allie: Oh, my god.

John: He’s gonna be just fine.

Allie: Oh, thank god.

[Sighs]

[Monitor beeping]

Ava: You’re really here?

Tripp: How’s allie?

Kayla: She’s gonna be just fine. Thanks to you.

Eric: I’m sorry. I mean, the last time we spoke, you said you were ready to move back in.

Eric: What?

Belle: Yep. That maniac is now living in my family’s home with my husband.

Shawn: John. Hi.

John: Hey, I heard that evan frears was arrested.

Shawn: Yeah, yeah, he’s in there. He’s just waiting to get transferred back to statesville.

John: All right. Say anything about my granddaughter? Does he know where she is?

Shawn: He claims he doesn’t know, but he did tell ben, ciara, and me what the devil has planned for their baby.

John: And that is?

Shawn: He wants him to be his permanent host body here on earth.

John: Ah, jeez.

Shawn: If we don’t stop him, he’s gonna take control of my nephew, body and soul.

[Cell phone ringing]

Marlena: Hi, tripp. What’s happening?

Tripp: Hey, I was hoping maybe you had some news about allie?

Marlena: I do. We think she’s headed to the cemetery and she has the baby with her.

Tripp: Do you know if allie and the baby are all right?

Marlena: I know she’s still possessed.

Tripp: Oh, man.

Marlena: But johnny went to the cemetery about half an hour ago. I’m still waiting to hear from him.

Charlie: [Chuckles] Talk about a glass jaw.

Demon allie: Once the ritual of transference is completed, you can get rid of him and his sister.

[Eerie music]

Ciara: Get the hell away from my son.

Demon allie: He won’t be your son for much longer. Soon, he and I will become one.

Ciara: Not while I’m around.

Ben: Just stay back. I’ll get the baby.

Charlie: I wouldn’t do that if I were you.

[Electricity zapping]

Ben: Ugh!

Ciara: Ben!

[Baby crying] Ben.

Charlie: [Laughing] I tried to warn him. You two wasted your time coming here. My boss has already won this battle.

[Eerie music]

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

John: Don’t worry, shawn, we’re not gonna let the devil take that little baby.

Shawn: The problem is we need to find him first.

[Cell phone beeps]

[Sighs]

John: Is that about allie?

Shawn: Ah, no. It’s– god, it’s jan. Her ankle monitor went off. She must’ve breached the perimeter to the house.

John: Ah. You sound surprised. Didn’t occur to you that she might try to take off?

Shawn: Look, I don’t like her living in my house any more than you or belle do, okay?

John: All right, just you find allie and the baby. I’ll deal with jan spears.

Shawn: Are you sure?

John: Damn right, I’m sure. I don’t want that crazy woman anywhere near my daughter.

Eric: Listen, I’m sorry, I just don’t understand this agreement. Women give birth in prison all the time. Don’t they realize that jan spears, she’s a threat to our community?

Belle: Yep. True on both counts, but shawn talked to the warden about jan’s high-risk pregnancy, and he let her out on house arrest.

Eric: But does shawn have to agree to this insane agreement?

Belle: Oh yeah, he did. But then shawn brady’s not gonna say “yeah, let her go back to prison, I don’t care if she loses my baby.”

Eric: Belle, you can’t let this woman destroy your marriage.

Belle: Eric, what am i supposed to do? I’m not gonna go and live in the same house with jan, and shawn feels responsible for the baby. So we’re just at a basic standoff and, you know, I don’t see that ending anytime soon.

Marlena: Yes, I will call you as soon as I hear from johnny or ben and ciara.

Tripp: What about the police?

Marlena: I’m still waiting to hear back from shawn.

Tripp: I’m going out there.

Marlena: What can you do?

Tripp: I’m a doctor, for one, and I’m not just gonna sit around while allie goes through this.

Marlena: Sounds like you care about her.

Tripp: I told myself I didn’t, but that was just my wounded ego. I love your granddaughter. And I’m gonna do whatever I can to get her out of this nightmare.

[Baby crying]

[Wind whistling]

Ciara: Oh, thank god you’re still alive. I am not gonna let you get away with this. That is my baby, and I want him back.

Charlie: You’re gonna fry, just like hubby did.

Ciara: Please, god. Please give me the strength to fight this battle.

Charlie: What the hell?

[Energy radiating]

Ciara: [Straining] Like pulsing, electric shocks,

Johnny: [Groaning] Ciara?

Charlie: Uh, boss? I think we have a problem.

Demon allie: No. It cannot be. That’s impossible.

Ciara: It’s okay, sweetie. Mommy’s here. Mommy’s gonna save you.

Eric: Listen, once jan, she gives birth to this baby, she’s gonna have to go back and complete her sentence, right?

Belle: Then what about the baby?

Eric: That’s a hard one.

Belle: Right. So jan has made sure that that child is gonna tie her to shawn, and she is gonna be in his life forever.

Eric: Belle, you have one choice. You can let it defeat you or you can hold on to your marriage and fight for it.

[Cell phone beeps]

Belle: Oh, my god.

Eric: What?

Belle: It’s from my dad. Jan’s ankle monitor went off, so he’s on his way over there to check them out. She could be on the loose, eric. What is that psycho gonna do this time?

Eric: Right.

John: [Sighs]

Jan: I am so glad that– oh, it’s you.

John: That’s right. And it looks like you put on that little get-up for nothing.

Jan: What are you doing here?

John: Well, I was with shawn when your ankle monitor went off. So I said, “no, shawn, no, no, you just–you stay here at the cop shop, and you keep looking for ciara and the baby, and I’ll deal with jan.” You see, he thought you probably took off, but I knew that you would be right here.

Jan: Of course I’m right here. I’m on bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy.

John: So you figured out a way to jimmy that thing, huh?

Jan: I was bored. I wanted shawn to come home and keep me company.

John: Looks like you’re stuck with me instead.

Jan: You don’t have to stay. As you can see, everything is fine.

John: No, that’s okay. Actually, I was looking for a little time alone with you.

Jan: Why? So you can choke me back into another coma?

John: Tempted, but no. But what I am gonna do is I’m gonna lay out all the reasons why you’re gonna stay away from my daughter.

Shawn: I don’t give a damn how understaffed you are, I want evan frears off my hands as soon as possible, all right?

Marlena: Why haven’t you answered my calls?

Shawn: I’m sorry, I just got your messages, but I had my hands full. I got evan frears in there, and I’ve got– jan’s ankle monitor went off.

Marlena: Deal with that later.

Shawn: John said he’s taking care of it.

Marlena: Okay, well, I’ll go over there when I can. Look, johnny and susan and i think that we’ve made contact with allie, tonight. And I think she’s taken the baby to the cemetery. So I’ve contacted ben. He’s on his way over there and johnny is too. But I think when we need backup. I think we really need the help of the police on this.

Johnny: Ciara! Can I help you?

Demon allie: Be gone, mortal. I said be gone!

Ciara: Ah! Hi. Hi, bo.

[Baby cooing] Hi.

[Soft dramatic music]

I’m your mommy. You’re safe now. Shh, it’s okay. You’re safe.

[Sighing] My moderate to severe plaque psoriasis…

Ciara: It’s okay, bo. You’re safe now.

Demon allie: Don’t think you’ve vanquished me. I will win this yet.

[Groans]

Charlie: Boss, what’s happening?

Demon allie: The forces of good are at work.

Ciara: You’ll never get this baby away from me.

Demon allie: I can still–

[Spluttering] Still–

Charlie: Still what, boss?

Demon allie: The light! I have to get away from the light.

Charlie: Hey, boss, wh– where’re you going? Should I go with you? Ahh! You! You ruined everything! I was supposed to raise that baby!

Ciara: Don’t you know that that was never going to happen?

Charlie: Yeah? Well, if I don’t get to be the father, neither does he!

Ciara: No. No, charlie! Charlie, please stop! No!

Jan: I couldn’t care less about “tinkerbelle” or whatever nauseating thing you’re calling her now.

John: You are so full of it.

Jan: Oh, I’m not. Everything is different. I’m gonna be a mother. My child is my focus, my only focus.

John: Boy, I’d like to believe you really mean that, but no.

Jan: You can believe it. Belle doesn’t even register on my radar anymore. She had one of her little tantrums and walked out on shawn. He’s gonna be free of her soon. Then he and I will raise our baby together. We’ll be a family.

John: Mm. Well, here’s your news flash. Shawn and belle have broken up before, but they always find their way back to each other.

Jan: [Sighs] Everything’s different now that I’m carrying shawn’s baby. You see, a child has a way of bonding the two people who created that little life.

John: Mm-mm. No baby is a miracle worker.

Jan: Worked for you, didn’t it? You and dr. Evans were having a dirty little affair. And then belle showed up and cemented your relationship.

John: Not the way it happened.

Jan: Well, it’ll happen for shawn and me. You’ll see.

Eric: Hey. If jan was on the loose, john, he would’ve already called you by now.

Belle: I know you’re probably right.

Eric: She has to play by different rules. She’s dealing with a high-risk pregnancy.

Belle: [Laughs] So she says. The woman’s been known to multitask in the past.

[Cell phone beeps] Oh. Ugh. Dad says he’s with jan at the house.

Eric: There, that’s one less thing you’re gonna have to worry about tonight.

Belle: Yes, now, if we can just get some news about allie and that poor baby.

Ciara: Charlie. Charlie, please, no. Charlie! Charlie, leave him alone!

Charlie: Say goodbye to hubby. Ah!

[Eerie music]

Ciara: You brought a baseball bat.

Tripp: I wasn’t gonna come here unarmed.

Ciara: Oh, thank god. Thank you.

Tripp: Are you–are you and the baby all right?

Ciara: Yeah. Yeah, we’re fine. It’s, uh– it’s ben.

Tripp: His pulse is steady, and his pupils are equal and reactive.

Ciara: What does that mean? Does that mean he’s gonna be okay?

Tripp: I think so. Wh–what’s happening with allie?

Ciara: She, uh– she ran towards st. Luke’s, and johnny ran after her.

Tripp: I’m gonna try to catch up with them.

Ciara: Okay.

Tripp: How are the three of you gonna get to the hospital? I mean, you can’t take that bike.

Ben: [Groaning]

Ciara: I–I have my phone. It’s okay. Please be careful, tripp.

Demon allie: After 25 years, we’ve come full circle.

[Ominous music]

Allie: What a fitting place for the grand finale. Okay, this is a freezer, not a time capsule.

Ben: Oh, my god. He is perfect.

Ciara: I’d like you to meet your son, beauregard brady weston.

Ben: Hey, bo. I’m your dad. And it’s very, very nice to meet you. I love you very much. He’s beautiful.

Ciara: I know.

Ben: You saved him.

Ciara: The three of us, baby, we’re a family now. We’re gonna protect each other forever.

[Tender music]

Jan: So I’ve already come up with names for the baby.

John: Huh.

Jan: What do you think of britney? If it’s a girl, that is.

John: Britney… spears?

Jan: Spears-brady. And then if it’s a boy… lucifer.

John: You want to name your kid lucifer?

Jan: Lucifer! It’s been such a long time.

Marlena: Uh, I–I’m not possessed anymore, jan.

Jan: Oh. That’s a bummer. He was like the best friend I ever had. Except for claire, of course.

John: Hey. What are you doing here?

Marlena: Can we talk privately?

[Cell phone beeps] It’s johnny.

John: He’s gonna need our help.

Belle: Johnny followed allie to st. Luke’S.

Eric: I’m gonna get my stuff and head over, okay?

Belle: Okay, but I’m coming with you.

Eric: I don’t think you should.

Belle: Allie is my niece.

Eric: Belle, the fewer the people, the less chance of the devil having a host body.

Belle: Okay, but I want to help.

Eric: Pray. Pray for allie’s soul. John, mom, and I, we can handle the rest, okay?

Belle: Okay. You be careful. Good luck.

Eric: I have a feeling we’re gonna need it.

Demon allie: So the good people of salem think that they’ve defeated me? They’ll feel differently once I’ve taken my revenge on all of them!

Tripp: Are you all right?

Johnny: Yeah, your, uh– your dead brother knocked my head against a gravestone, so–

Tripp: Yeah, well, he got his. Where’s allie?

Johnny: I think she went up to the old choir loft. I was gonna go after her, but I–I sent a text to my family for backup, so–

Tripp: Okay, well, you wait for them; I’m going up there.

Johnny: No, no way. I’m–I’m coming with you.

Demon allie: I may have lost my new vessel on earth, but I am going out in a blaze of glory. And I’m taking little alice caroline horton with me.

Johnny: Allie, stop!

Demon allie: [Sighs]

It’s started. Somewhere between a cuddle

Demon allie: You young men couldn’t have picked a better time to arrive. You’ll have a front row seat to the spectacle.

Johnny: I smell gasoline. This place is covered in it.

Tripp: You can’t set fire to st. Luke’S.

Demon allie: And why not? I’ve done it before, except this time, this town’s beacon of hope and light is going to burn to the ground. And hopefully take half of salem with it.

Johnny: Allie, look, you need to fight! It’s me, it’s johnny. Fight this guy! I know you know how to do it. He wants to destroy you. So unleash some of that famous anger on him.

Demon allie: You can save the histrionics. She’s given up.

Tripp: Allie, if you let him win, you’ll never see henry again. Okay, you have to will yourself to be free of him. Do it for your son.

Demon allie: You’re wasting–

Allie: Henry! I want to be with my little boy.

Demon allie: Trust me, that little boy’s better off without a mother like you were.

Tripp: That is bull, allie. You are a great mom.

Johnny: He needs you! I need you. Look, allie, just– just come back to us. Just come back to us.

Demon allie: Hm. It’s too late. You two treated her like the dirt under your feet.

Johnny: Allie, you and I, we know how to push each other’s buttons and we probably did it too often, but underneath it all, I love you. And you love me. So just come on, allie, come back to us.

Tripp: Fight that bastard!

Demon allie: Ugh!

Johnny: Allie?

[Groans] I’m okay.

Demon allie: You and your sister together are no match for my powers. So now, this church and all three of us are going down in flames.

Belle: Shawn.

Shawn: Hey.

Belle: Hey, I just got a text from johnny. He said that ben and ciara found the baby and allie.

Shawn: Yeah, yeah. Ciara called me. She said they’re taking him to the hospital to get him checked out.

Belle: Oh no. Are they worried about him?

Shawn: No, I just– I just think they’re trying to be safe.

Belle: Okay.

Shawn: Ciara doesn’t know what’s going with allie. Last time she saw her, she was headed towards st. Luke’S.

Belle: Well, johnny followed her and eric’s on his way there now. Is that where you’re headed?

Shawn: No, there’s cops all over st. Luke’S. Rafe told them to stand back and hold their fire. He said they don’t need me, so, um, honestly, I’m not gonna believe that this baby’s okay until I see it with my own two eyes.

Belle: Well, if it’s okay with you, I’d like to go.

Shawn: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, of course it’s okay. I mean, yeah, it’s great.

Kayla: Oh. I am so happy to see you two. Is that my new little grand-nephew?

Ben: It sure is.

Kayla: He’s just beautiful. Does he have a name yet?

Ciara: Yeah. It’s bo. Bo brady weston.

Kayla: Bo. Your dad would be so proud. I think he has grandpa bo’s eyes. Aww. You have been through such an ordeal the last 24 hours, haven’t you, baby? He looks like he’s just fine.

Ciara: Yeah, we hope so.

Ben: Yeah, but we want to hear that from you. Nobody else.

Kayla: I’ve got a room ready. We’ll check out our little angel. Let’s go.

Demon allie: Time to say your prayers, boys. No. No, it can’t be.

Demon allie: The only green pasture you’ll lie in is the cemetery!

Eric: “He leadeth me beside the still waters. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.” Once again, I cast out the demon!

Demon allie: I hope you’ve been practicing. Your last attempt at an exorcism only made me stronger. I took over the nearest warm body and wreaked havoc in your lives. Maybe this time I’ll try you on for size, father.

Marlena: No, you won’T. You are done tormenting me, tormenting my family. Go back to hell.

Demon allie: Such words from you, marlena? After everything we’ve been through together.

Marlena: You tried to destroy me, destroy my friends, destroy my family, destroy everybody in salem, and it failed! Because the people in this town love each other. They care about each other. And love will always trump evil!

Demon allie: You have always underestimated my power!

John: No, I think we have you sized up pretty well here. That’s why we’ve got you cornered right now!

Demon allie: You think a couple setbacks are going to stop me? You’re weak, stupid. I’m repulsed by you!

John: You go back to where you came from now. Leave our granddaughter’s body now, at once!

Demon allie: I was growing tired of her anyway. So I will leave her to you. But only after I’ve killed her in front of you.

Ahhh, not again.

Kayla: Well, I am delighted to tell you that your son is in perfect health.

Both: [Sigh]

Ciara: Thank goodness.

Ben: That is great news.

Ciara: Hi, baby.

Shawn: You mind if we join the party?

Kayla: No, please, come in.

Ciara: Come in, bro.

Shawn: Oh, my gosh. I was so worried about you.

Ben: You should’ve seen her at the cemetery. She was amazing.

Ciara: [Sighs] Yeah. But allie still needs our help.

Belle: Well, johnny texted all of us. Eric’s on his way to the church now. My parents are already there. And I think they’re gonna try an exorcism.

Shawn: Yeah, I spoke to rafe. He said the cops have the whole church surrounded.

Ciara: Let’s hope that works. I’m really scared for allie.

Kayla: We all are.

Belle: Yeah, but we got god on our side. Our family is really fierce when any one of us is threatened.

Marlena: Leave my granddaughter alone.

Demon allie: You should’ve let me stay within you, marlena. Now you’ll have allie’s death on your hands.

John: We will not let you hurt her.

Eric: That’s right. Let’s join hands. Our father…

All: Who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done.

Demon allie: I command you to stop this!

All: On earth as it is in heaven.

Marlena: Allie, sweetheart.

Marlena: I know you’re in there, and I know you’re scared.

Marlena: Allie, I know what you’re going through. I’ve been there myself. I know what it’s like. But keep fighting. There are people here that love you. Keep on fighting.

Demon allie: Stop this insanity or I’ll snap her neck. I’ll make henry a little orphan right now.

[Bones crunching]

[All yelling]

Shawn: Let me see my nephew. Oh. Hey, buddy. Hey. You know, you’re probably gonna be the first kid in history to be taught to handle a motorcycle by his mom.

[Laughter]

Ben: Yeah, not for a few more years.

Shawn: You know, your grandpa in heaven, he’d, uh– he’d be really happy right now. And we’re gonna tell you all about him when you get a little bit older. Want to meet your aunt belle? Look there.

Belle: Hi, little bo. Oh, we’re so happy to welcome you to our family. Remember to take a lot of pictures though, because the first year is full of changes, and you’re gonna want to remember all of them.

Shawn: Yeah, but make sure that you enjoy him.

Ciara: [Sighs] We absolutely will.

Belle: I remember when claire was that little.

Shawn: Yeah. I remember when she first started to walk. When she was standing there, holding onto that table and she just–she bravely just started walking. Actually, it was sort of a weird little jog.

Belle: Yeah. [Laughs]

Shawn: And she was, uh– she was pleased with herself.

Belle: Yeah, I remember that. Probably because we had it on video.

Shawn: Yeah, then we watched it about a thousand times.

[Cell phone ringing] Oh, here, I got to take this. Here. Here you go, buddy.

Ciara: Okay, come here.

Shawn: Um… uh, yeah, what’s up, jan?

Jan: I’m having a monster craving for a cheeseburger.

Shawn: Uh, I’m busy.

Jan: I thought you were off duty.

Shawn: I am, but I’m–

Jan: Please be sweet and do this for me. I can’t leave the house and I’m starving.

Tripp: I mean it. I mean it. You want to kill somebody? Kill me.

Marlena: Tripp, no, don’t!

Eric: No, we need to finish what we started.

Tripp: No. You heard him. He’s gonna kill her before you can finish the exorcism.

Demon allie: He’s right, you know.

Tripp: So come into me. Come into me, and let henry have his mom back. You want a soul? Take mine.

Demon allie: You mortals amaze me. You’re willing to sacrifice your life for some insipid little thing like allie horton?

Tripp: If that’s what you think about allie, then you aren’t as smart as you think you are.

Demon allie: You’re willing to die for someone who didn’t love you, who cheated on you. You were always her second choice, and I’m the one who’s stupid?

Tripp: I don’t care if allie would rather be with chanel. I still love her. She got to me like no one else ever did. She–she knew how to make me laugh and lighten up. And she made me feel not alone in this world.

Demon allie: And then she betrayed you.

Tripp: I still love her. And I always will. So come into me and I will gladly sacrifice my life if it means that she can live and raise henry. So come into me. Take me instead. I said come into me, you son of a bitch! Take me instead!

Johnny: Allie? Allie? Allie?

[Dramatic music]

Ciara: How are you feeling, baby?

Ben: Better. I got knocked for a loop. Walking into that thing was like an electric fence. I can’t believe you just walked into that and got the baby.

Ciara: I cannot believe it either. And I can’t– I can’t even explain it to you, I really can’T. I just– I knew I needed to get to him. And I wasn’t sure if I was gonna be able to. And then there was this, like, warm, comforting light surrounding me. It made me feel strong. And the weird part is, I didn’t feel alone anymore. It was like–huh. Baby, please promise not to laugh at me when I say this.

Ben: Laugh? I would never laugh at you.

Ciara: It was like a– a presence.

Ben: What kind of presence?

[Air whooshing]

Ciara: Dad?

[Chimes tinkling]

Bo: Hey there, little one.

Kayla: Hope sounded so happy on the phone.

Belle: Yeah. Must’ve been bittersweet though, not having bo here to share in that.

Kayla: I think we’re all feeling that.

Belle: Yeah, right. I mean, I know shawn really misses his dad. I miss him too. Maybe he could’ve talked some sense into shawn.

Kayla: It seemed like the two of you were having a moment in there.

Belle: Yeah, I felt that too. And then he ran off to be with the mother of his new baby.

Jan: Want a french fry?

Shawn: Um, yeah. Yeah, sure. I–I haven’t eaten much today.

Jan: How’s ciara doing?

Shawn: She’s good. She’s good now that she’s back with her baby.

Jan: Did you see him?

Shawn: Mm-hmm. Yeah. They, um– they named him after my dad.

Jan: Aww. That’s so sweet. Maybe if our baby’s a girl we can name her after your mom. I had another name in mind, but hope is more meaningful.

Shawn: Uh, wouldn’t you want to name her after your mom, maybe?

Jan: Oh, god, no. She was a horrible person. God rest her soul. Besides, her name was gertrude. I am not sticking our child with a name like that. Can you imagine? Baby gert?

Shawn: Yeah. Yeah, probably not. You okay?

Jan: Yeah. I’m fine. I was just thinking how scared ciara must’ve been before she found her baby. Thank god she did.

Ciara: Ben, am i seeing things?

Ben: If you are, then I am too.

Ciara: Daddy?

Bo: [Echoing] In the flesh. Well, not exactly in the flesh. I’m the one who taught you how to remap a fuel injection system.

Ciara: It really is you. You came back.

[Baby cooing] You were at the cemetery.

Bo: Yeah. That was me.

Ciara: You saved his life. Honey, this is your granddad. Daddy, I named him bo.

Bo: Thank you for that.

Eric: Tripp? Can you hear me?

Demon tripp: Well, that was surprisingly easy. The boy didn’t even put up a fight. But it seems his sacrifice was for naught. Allie is still going to die, and by tripp’s own hands.

Marlena: No! God, no!

Tripp: No. I won’t let you hurt her.

John: Let me help you, son.

Tripp: There is no help. There’s only–

Steve: Well, paulina confessed to killing tr coates.

Kayla: Well, you sound like you don’t think that’s what really happened.

Steve: Yeah. She seems more like a woman who uses words, not bullets. And you know, there’s something I didn’t tell you about the weapon they found at the scene.

Kayla: What’s that?

Steve: I don’t know how paulina could have gotten her hands on what looked like a police-issued weapon.

Shawn: Okay, I know I don’t have to tell you to keep me posted but I’m doing it anyway. All right, thanks.

Ben: Anything?

Shawn: No sign of allie or the car she was driving.

Ben: Then your guys damn well better be fanning off from the dimera crypt. Tony and anna, they found this pacifier there hours ago. Allie was in there with my son, and god only knows where she is now.

Ciara: [Gasps] Oh…oh, my little baby bo. So wish you were inside of me so I could keep you safe. Where are you right now? What is happening to you right now?

Demon allie: It’s friday the 13th, my child. What a fitting day to fulfill my plans for you.

Susan: I just love this picture of you and your sister. Oh, when you guys were little kids, you used to be the bestest of friends.

Johnny: Yeah. Yeah, I know.

Susan: I wa–I want you to think back to that time. And I want you to try to find that connection again. Mmm? You know, think about what’s happening through your sister’s eyes. And I just–I want you to think about your twin sister and how you used to share your mom’s body for nine months and the same crib. You know what? Johnny: Anything?

Susan: Uh-huh.

Johnny: Grandma, I’m concentrating as hard as I can, but I just–

Susan: Whoa. Wait, wait. I feel something. I feel something. Do you?

Johnny: I don’t know. Maybe it’s just– aah!

Susan: Oh!

Susan: “Even though I walk through the shadow of the valley of death, I fear no evil. I fear no evil, for you are with me.”

Johnny: Grandma, what–what’s that?

Susan: We almost did it, johnny. We almost reached allie. Oh gah! He broke the connection.

Johnny: He? The devil?

Susan: Hey…I mean, who else would have done this? Huh?

[Eerie music]

Charlie: Well, if it isn’t allie horton. I knew you couldn’t stay away forever.

Demon allie: I am not allie horton. I’m just taking control of her body.

Charlie: Mmm. Pretty good choice, in my opinion.

Demon allie: I did not summon you from eternal damnation to talk about your time on earth. You’ve been chosen by me.

Charlie: Me? Why?

Demon allie: I did battle in heaven. But god cast me out for an inferior being. I fell from grace into an eternal inferno. You too know what it means to be passed over, first by your mother and then by this woman you call allie. That makes you perfect for my purposes. Now, bow before me and swear your allegiance. I must know that you’re worthy to receive my instruction.

Charlie: What is it you desire of me, master?

Ciara: Hey, dad… it’s me. I, uh, I know you’re in heaven right now. But I also know you’re not the kind of guy to just sit back and do nothing when all hell breaks loose, so please… oh my god, I need your help right now. Please help me. Please look over your grandson. Please bring my little bo back to me.

[Soft footsteps] You?

Evan: We meet again.

Ben: You have to have some idea where allie is.

Shawn: You know everything that I do, all right? The techs didn’t find anything at the dimera crypt. We interviewed everyone at the dimera house. I mean, we set up roadblocks in a wide perimeter around it. I mean, not even the devil’s gonna be able to travel with a newborn.

Ben: Yeah? Well, he seems to be pretty damn good at getting help whenever he needs it. Plus evan frears is still on the loose.

Evan: I heard your little prayer to daddy bo. I don’t think he’s going to come for you this time.

Ciara: You have five seconds to get out of here or I’m going to start screaming.

Evan: I wouldn’t do that if I were you… or I’ll fix it so that you and daddy can be together forever.

Lani: I can’t speak about ray coates–it’s an open case.

Chanel: Okay, but mama was arrested. You–you can tell me if that’s true.

Lani: Yes, chanel. She was.

Chanel: And I also heard that tr was the one who shot eli. It wasn’t that drug dealer like you said. Is that true? Can you talk about that?

Lani: Yeah. You heard right. After eli woke up, he–he remembered–he remembered everything that happened.

Chanel: And he remembers tr shooting him? I can’t believe it. Mama thought he’d changed, and he’d been so good to her and he was helping her out with jules and carver and everything.

Lani: It makes me sick to think about that man going near my children. My biological father, he took care of one person and that was–that was ray coates. He hadn’t changed one bit. I don’t know, he–he lied to everybody. Everything out of his mouth was a damn lie. And he wasn’t the only one.

Chanel: What? Who else was lying?

Kayla: So you’re saying you think paulina’s lying about who killed coates? It could have been a policeman?

Steve: I don’t know.

Tripp: Hey.

Kayla: Hey.

Steve: Hey buddy.

Kayla: You just missed dinner–I can make you a plate.

Tripp: No, no, I’m good. I fixed myself a sandwich while I was staying with henry.

Kayla: Come on. A sandwich is not enough for you.

Steve: She’s right. You’ve been working your shifts at the hospital and you’re babysitting little henry over at nicole’s–come on.

Tripp: I’m good, good. Is there any news on ben and ciara’s baby?

Steve: I’d like to say that there’s been some progress, but no.

Shawn: That baby is my nephew–I’m not gonna rest until we get him back. I’m gonna call rafe–I’m gonna find out what he knows.

Ben: I pray there’s something, because I need to give ciara some good news when she wakes up. This is killing her.

Shawn: I know.

Evan: It’s amazing how sharp they keep these things.

Ciara: You were helping allie. Where’s my baby?

Evan: I know what it’s like not to know where your son is or if he’ll be all right. I’ve been living that way for years now because of you.

Ciara: That was because of you. You killed your baby’s mother, and you let ben take the fall for it.

Evan: And you rode to his rescue. Now you and a serial killer are living the dream while I rot away in a cell.

Ciara: You see, the difference is ben has changed, and you have not.

Evan: Your kid is better off where he is.

Ciara: With the devil? Hmm?

Evan: You think he’ll have a storybook childhood with ben weston for a father?

Ciara: Shut up and tell me where my baby is.

Evan: You don’t need to worry about your baby boy. You’re the one lying here helpless as a newborn.

Ciara: Ha. Helpless? Listen, I just gave birth. I didn’t have open heart surgery. And I wouldn’t be so sure about that if I were you. You and your little pal the devil tried to convince me that ben was dead. And I knew better, and I was right. How many times have you tried to kill us…and failed?

Evan: God was on your side in the past. I have my own backup now. The devil’s on my team, so I say you and i are pretty evenly matched.

Ciara: Aah!

Evan: I forgot, the necktie killer’s wife likes it rough.

Ciara: [Gagging]

Susan: Oh, dr. Marlena evans, you are a sight for sore eyes!

Marlena: I thought you might have heard something about allie and the baby.

Susan: Yeah, we got a message all right. But it was from beelzebub himself.

Marlena: What are you talking about?

Johnny: Grandma susan and i were looking at this picture of allie and me trying to make some kind of connection.

Susan: Right. Yeah. And then it got knocked plum out of our hands. It was like it was struck by lightning.

Johnny: Or we just dropped it.

Susan: That is not what happened, johnny, and you know it. This is–this is the dark one. This is the dark one, and he is saying, “this is war.” Know what? The almighty god, he sent–he sent us a weapon, johnny, sent us a weapon. So who cares? Who cares if satan cracked some glass? I mean, he can’t walk this earth as himself, I mean he needs a host body. And we–we belong here. We belong here because we are human beings and you know what? You…there’s no human being I’d rather have on my side than you, dr. Marlena evans. So get over here, johnny, come on, come on. No, get over here, all right. We’re go gonna drum up. We’re going to close our eyes and we are going to drum up all the love, all the love for alice caroline horton so that we can save her soul.

Johnny: We already tried this!

Marlena: And we’ll try it again. Because now there’s one more person here that really loves allie too.

Susan: All right.

[Baby crying]

Demon allie: I’ve grown weary of the external battles that accompany a possession– fighting off exorcists, the host’s loved ones, not to mention the internal struggles of the individual’s tortured soul. I’ve done that dance for millennia. And now it’s time to rest. To that end, this innocent newborn will be my vessel for his entire lifetime. I snatched him straight from his mother’s womb. He knows no other touch but mine. He doesn’t have the will or the bonds of love to restrain me. I will take up residence in this little one. And when he is a grown man, I shall make hell on earth through him.

Charlie: What can I do to assist you, master?

Demon allie: Your chance to be a father to a son was taken from you. I’m giving you the opportunity to raise another child. When the ritual is done, you will take this child and you will keep him as your own.

[Eerie off-key notes]

Susan: There’s three of us now, allie. Yeah, we’ve got your grandmama marlena with us. So for the sake that sweet poor, poor baby and to save your own soul, we’re asking god…to break the devil’s hold on your spirit so that you can hear us.

[Loud thud] Oh! Oh, oh, she’s here! She’s here! Johnny did you–do you see her?

Johnny: No, there’s nothing. It’s like I can feel her, but I can’t see where she is. She– she–is she gone?

Allie: [Echoing] I’m here.

Both: Oh! Get ready for more

Steve: Listen, the entire salem pd is looking for allie. But so far, no trace of her.

Tripp: Henry misses her so much–I mean, he made me read “the runaway bunny” over and over again.

Kayla: Oh, I love that book. The way the mother rabbit is gonna transform herself into a bunch of different forms so that she can go with her baby bunny if he decides to run away.

Tripp: No, allie’s not gonna do that for henry–she doesn’t care what happens to him.

Kayla: Oh, you know that’s not true.

Tripp: You’re right. I shouldn’t be talking about her like that. Not now.

Steve: Okay, so let’s talk about you. How you doing, son?

Susan: Oh.

[Wind howling]

Johnny: Did we all just hear that?

Susan: I did, I did! She’s here with us. Oh, dr marlena evans, talk to her, talk to her.

Marlena: Yes, yes, uh… allie… darling, it’s–it’s marlena. We’re all here, susan’s here and johnny is here. And we can hear you.

Allie: [Echoing] Grandma?

Marlena: Yes, we’re right here, darling.

Allie: I tried to fight him, but he’s–he’s too strong.

Marlena: It’s okay. It’s–we’re gonna help you fight him. We just have to know, darling, where are you?

Allie: He has the baby. Ciara and ben’s baby.

Johnny: Where are you right now?

Allie: At the cemetery. Charlie dale’s grave. Please come, or it will be too late…too late…late…

[Eerie off-key notes]

Demon allie: You are to keep a vigil so that the ritual is not disturbed by mere mortals. If they are to appear, this is the perfect place to bury them where they stand.

Ciara: [Gagging]

Demon allie: I summon all forces of evil to this ungodly place. Let the transference begin. The lows of bipolar depression

Chanel: Who else is lying?

Lani: Did I–did I say that?

Chanel: Yeah, you did.

Lani: I–chanel, I’m running–I’m running on fumes right now. Anything that comes–I can say anything. Anything can come out of my mouth right now.

Chanel: Okay. I’m sorry. I was-I was pumping you for information.

Lani: No, it’s fine. Paulina is your mother too, and you deserve to know. Why did you tell him that you shot tr?

Paulina: You hush. I know what I’m doing.

Chanel: Know what? Lani?

Lani: I was thinking about that–that beth. Beth howard is her name. She–she was the one who swore that tr, he–he didn’t use drugs around her and he didn’t hit her.

Chanel: And she got a part in that movie.

Lani: Yeah. Maybe he gave her that role to keep her quiet or he threatened her. I don’t know. She–she came by eli’s hospital room one night and said that she has something to tell me but–I don’t know. She must have been scared.

Chanel: I wish she would have told you. Then mama wouldn’t be in this mess.

Tripp: I don’t know what there is to say. I didn’t keep it a secret how I felt about allie. I-I loved her. And trusted her. She knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. But she still couldn’t tell me how she felt about chanel. She couldn’t tell me that she cheated on me.

Kayla: I know how much that hurt you when you found out.

Tripp: I’m fine. I’m dealing with it.

Steve: You sure about that? Listen, buddy, I know you’re tough. And I respect that. But from one tough guy to another, you don’t have to keep it inside and pretend that this isn’t bothering you. Not around here you don’T. Just talk to us. Okay? You’re not gonna feel better until you do.

Johnny: I gotta get to the cemetery.

Marlena: Not by yourself you’re not.

Johnny: Look, allie’s always making a big deal about how tough she is. You heard how scared she was just now. She needs help. She’s my sister, and I’m going to get her.

Susan: Johnny, the devil can get you again. Johnny: I don’t care!

Marlena: We care!

Johnny: I’ll be damned if I let him keep allie one more second or hurt that baby. You guys call ben, call the cops, tell them where to go.

Ben: Tell me where my kid is right now or I swear–

Evan: God is not coming to rescue you. Don’t you know that by now? He doesn’t dirty his hands with guys like you and me. We’re both going to hell. You know that. I’m just gonna make sure I send you there first.

Demon allie: By the sins of his father and the virtue of his mother, from this mortal child, I take his uncorrupted soul as my own.

[Baby crying]

Evan: Say hi to jordan for me.

[Baby crying]

Charlie: Uh… is it…done?

Demon allie: I’m leaving this corporeal form.

Charlie: Master? Question, what do you want me to do with allie once you’ve left her body?

Demon allie: I have no use for her anymore. Do what you want.

Johnny: You’re not gonna lay a finger on her. We do it every night.

Tripp: You guys know how I grew up, you know, I felt like I didn’t belong anywhere. You two found me and you took me in and if you hadn’t done that, I don’t know who I would be now. I know I put you through hell there for a while but… here we are.

Kayla: Here we are.

Tripp: And I’m saying all that because… because I thought that I was gonna have what you two have.

Kayla: We know that.

Tripp: Yeah. I saw allie and me raising henry together, you know, and… maybe having kids of our own, you know, kids that would know from the jump that they were wanted. But right after I asked allie to marry me, like the next minute johnny walked in and told me about her and chanel.

Steve: That wasn’t johnny. It was the devil’s work.

Tripp: I can’t even–why does it matter why he told me? It was the truth. Feels weird talk about this now. I know what allie must be going through. I mean, I don’t know, but I can imagine. I just wish that she had been honest with me. I took care of her after she figured out what charlie did to her. She knew how I felt about her and henry. Why couldn’t she just level with me? Now I wouldn’t have made all those plans. I mean, that–that’s what keeps me up at night is all those damn plans and… I thought it was gonna be her and I against the world. I-I thought that now that she had my love I thought–

Kayla: You thought that nobody could ever hurt her again.

Demon allie: You’re not welcome in this circle johnny. I’m not happy with all your attempts to interfere with my plans.

Johnny: Yeah? Well, that’s too freakin’ bad.

Demon allie: How reckless you are. Don’t you know you’re playing with fire?

Johnny: You underestimated the love between my sister and me. You don’t get the family that I come from. My two grandmas can take you on.

Demon allie: Ha ha ha ha ha! Those two god-fearing harpies? Don’t make me laugh.

Johnny: Allie. Allie, it’s me. I’m here. I’m–I’m myself again, you can trust me, but you have to fight now. Okay?

Demon allie: This is the resistance I was telling you about. You know what to do.

Charlie: Yes, I do.

Johnny: I’ve seen your picture. You’re the pig that raped my sister. And I wanted to kill you when I found out about it. Looks like I finally got my chance.

Shawn: You sure you’re both okay?

Ciara: Yeah, we will be.

Ben: Yeah, as soon as this bastard spills his guts about the devil’s plans for our baby.

Evan: What? You think you’re gonna be able to stop him? Don’t make me laugh.

Ben: I stopped you, didn’t I? Huh?

Evan: You’ll be too late. By now the devil’s the proud owner of your son’s immortal soul.

Marlena: Ben? Ben, it’s marlena. I need you to call me. It’s urgent. Maybe we should go help johnny.

Susan: Of what help would we be?

Marlena: I don’t know.

Susan: This is johnny’s fight. Yeah, let’s just lea–let him and the police take on the devil.

Evan: The devil’s not going to kill your son. He’s going to be your son. Never heard of the demon seed? Once the devil has become one with little bo, he’ll be unstoppable. The kid was probably born with the brady charm and weston taste for blood. Now he’s gonna be raised from within by the guy that wrote the book on wickedness. So you fixed it so I couldn’t see my kid. Now you’re gonna have ringside seats, while your son walks through life making the whole world miserable.

Shawn: Stop! Listen to me–

Ben: Where’s my baby? Where’s my damn baby?

Shawn: He’ll say anything right now, stop.

Ben: Where is he?

Shawn: Stop.

Ben: Where’s my baby?

Evan: All I know is the time. Ha. Not the place. The ritual of transference is happening right now.

Shawn: Listen to me. We’ll get more out of him down the station. Do not give up hope. We’re gonna find baby bo.

Evan: Like hell you will.

[Ciara sobbing] My a1c stayed here,

Chanel: I wanna see mama.

Lani: She’s going through the booking process right now and can’t have visitors for a while–maybe tomorrow?

Chanel: Seems like I can’t do a damn thing to help the people I care about, especially when they’re in big trouble.

Lani: I’m guessing you’re talking about allie. I heard that she ran off with ciara’s new baby.

Chanel: I don’t even know who allie is anymore.

Lani: You’ve been through a lot too.

Chanel: Yeah. Those twins really did a number on me.

Lani: I’m so sorry, chanel.

Chanel: Yeah. Well, I guess now that I know it wasn’t them doing it all, treating me so badly…

Lani: I hope that it helps you.

Chanel: It does a little.

Lani: I need to get back to the hospital and see eli. But do you wanna come with me? You can say hi to him.

Chanel: Yeah, sounds great.

Lani: Okay.

Chanel: Yeah. You know, this having a sister thing…it’s nice.

Lani: It is. Come on.

Tripp: No matter how I feel about allie, I don’t want anything bad to happen to her.

Steve: Well, the two of you never had a chance to straighten things out.

Tripp: I don’t think anything will ever get straightened out.

Kayla: Even so, I mean, you might have turned out to be friends.

Tripp: I don’t know about that either.

Kayla: I just wonder what would have happened with the two of you if the devil hadn’t played around with your lives.

Steve: Chanel was a happily married woman. She made her choice–allie knew that.

Kayla: Yeah, and maybe it allowed allie to fully commit to you. Well, it’s a possibility, don’t you think?

Tripp: It’s kind of hard to think about what might have been. Chanel and I are like friends now. I never saw that happening.

Kayla: You see, because people change and feelings change.

Tripp: I was telling chanel that I think maybe life has gotten be too much for allie. And that was before I knew about all this devil business.

Steve: She’s had it really rough.

Kayla: Yeah. She had her rapist’s baby. And she’s been a good mother to him.

Tripp: Allie’s life turned sour the night she crossed paths with charlie. I thought I was gonna make things right for her again. Kind of arrogant when you think about it–I mean, who am I, captain wonderful?

Steve: I think you’re pretty great.

Tripp: Why’d this have to happen to her?

Steve: I don’t know, son. But no matter how hurt and angry you feel right now–

Kayla: I think part of you still loves her and you wanna help her.

Tripp: I’m just scared to death that she’s in a place where nothing I do now is gonna make a difference.

[Beep beep]

Ben: That’s my phone. Must’ve fallen out of my pocket when I was fighting evan.

Ciara: Baby, there it is.

Ben: It’s dr. Evans. She called like six times. She must know something.

[Phone rings]

Marlena: Oh! Ben, thank god you called.

Ben: Hey, what’s going on?

Marlena: We found allie. She’s heading for the cemetery.

Ben: What about the baby?

Marlena: I don’t know for sure.

Ben: All right, thank you. She knows where allie is.

Ciara: Hey, hey, not without me, you’re not.

Ben: You just had a baby.

Ciara: Yeah, and I’m gonna be there when we save him and save allie. Now help me find my clothes.

Charlie: You’re not gonna get away. You see, the thing is I’ve had lot of time to work out. Nobody told me hell had such an awesome gym.

Demon allie: Well done, my loyal servant.

Charlie: What now, master? Should I…finish him off? Like pulsing, electric shocks,

Shawn: Don’t get too comfortable. The van from statesville’s on its way. You gonna love solitary.

Evan: Ha. I’m gonna sit there and think about you and ben, ciara, your families… this whole damn town as you look on helplessly while your nephew and the rest of this rotten world all go straight to hell.

Tripp: Wow, I guess you’re right. I was really holding a lot of that in.

Kayla: I’m glad you opened up to us.

Steve: Hey, we’re gonna find allie and we’re gonna help her.

Kayla: Mm-hmm. And she will be saved because there are so many people who love allie horton.

Tripp: And I’m one of those people. Even after everything that’s happened, I’m still in love with her.

Marlena: Heavenly father, please watch over our grandchildren tonight. Bring them home safely to us. And deliver them from evil.

Charlie: Talk about a glass jaw.

Demon allie: Once the ritual of transference is completed, you can get rid of him and the sister.

[Engine revving]

Ava: Hey, we did it before when we helped kristen escape.

Gwen: [Sighs] What’s the catch?

Ava: There isn’t one. Look, I just– look, I know I let you down, and I’m trying to make up for it. Trying to be a friend. So you in?

Sarah: Xander?

Xander: Sarah, it’s– is it really you?

Sarah: Yeah, of course it’s me. Mom? What’s going on?

Maggie: Your voice, it–it–it’s normal. Oh, sarah, my darling. Does this mean you’re all right?

Sarah: Yeah, I’m fine, mom. Why–why do you look like you’re about to cry? Why are you both looking at me like that?

Xander: Because we– because we’re just so happy. So very happy. It worked, maggie.

Maggie: Yes.

Xander: It worked.

[Sarah chuckles]

Sarah: What’s going on? Why– why am I in a hospital?

Xander: You were drugged, but we gave you an antidote, and thank god it worked.

Sarah: Drugged by who? Why? What?

Maggie: You know, it’s a long story, and we’ll get around to it at some point.

Xander: But all that matters right now is that you, darling sarah…

[Sighs] You’re with us again. And you’re…yourself. And we’re just– we’re just so grateful. So very grateful.

Maggie: Yes.

[Sighs]

Gwen: So first you throw me under the bus, practically ruining my life, and now you are, oh, so eager to help me. I mean, what am I missing here, ava?

Ava: Gwen, I want to help you because I threw you under the bus. I told you, I feel guilty. I feel guilty because, you know, you’re the one paying the price when the person who should be behind bars is kristen.

Gwen: Kristen is not the one who helped me switch out the antidote that would have brought back sarah. I did that all on my own. And for what? I’m– xander and I are over now anyway.

Ava: I’m sorry about that. But I get it. I mean, if anyone knows, you do, that I’ve certainly done a lot worse to hang on to the men that I love.

Gwen: Wonderful. You win that contest, okay? Now get the hell out of here and take your offer with you.

Ava: Okay, gwen, I think you need to be realistic here, all right? Gwen, you got–you got– you got no lawyer, you got no fiancé, you got no family to help you. All you got is me. But hey, if you want to languish here in prison all alone, it’s your choice.

Jack: You have it in you to do the right thing, and you know it. You proved it when you told xander where to find that antidote.

Sarah: Okay, um… well, I have a lot of questions. Um, but for now, I will just say thank you to both of you for taking care of me.

Sarah: Okay, well, since my exam, uh, went well, could we get the ball rolling on getting me released?

Kayla: Well, I would like to do a few new scans. Just to make sure that everything’s fine. Why don’t I just check with radiology and make sure that they can see you right now. Okay? All right, good. All righty, huh?

Xander: Oh, sarah.

Sarah: [Giggles]

Xander: [Sighs] There are no words to express what it means to be here with you now. And you’re looking so beautiful. Just being sat next to you, my– my heart is beating so hard.

Xander: God, I missed you so much.

Sarah: You don’t have to miss me. I’m right here. And it seems like it’s been a very long time since I’ve gotten to do this.

Anna: You’re dropping the charges? Why?

Maggie: If gwen hadn’t switched the vials, what you did to sarah would have brought her back to us that very day. So what you did, well, it wasn’t–it wasn’t terrible at all, as it turned out.

Anna: Oh, maggie, it was terrible. Truly terrible. I was thoughtless and reckless– well, I’M… I am truly, sincerely sorry for what I put you through. And I’m so grateful that your daughter is going to be okay. Thank you for telling us. And for dropping the charges. I can’t even tell you how grateful I am.

Tony: Same here.

Maggie: Well. [Laughs] Okay, then I think I better get back to the hospital.

Tony: Oh, please give sarah our best.

Anna: Thank you. Oh, my god. I can’t believe it, I’m free.

Tony: So you glad you didn’t go on the run?

Anna: [Laughs] Oh, I’m so glad.

Jack: If you plead guilty, to the lesser charges, justin thinks he can get your sentence knocked down to five years.

Gwen: [Gasps] Five years?

Jack: That’s nowhere near what you’d be facing if a jury found you guilty. I’d say it’s a gift considering what you’ve done.

Gwen: Yeah, you’re right. But melinda trask doesn’t really give out gifts, especially to the likes of me.

Jack: You’d be saving the city the expense of a trial. If you agree to all this, it could be settled very quickly.

Gwen: In other words, I could be going to prison very quickly.

Jack: Gwen… this is not the end. If you make smart choices, good choices, it could be a whole new beginning. If–if you decide–[Sniffles] To accept, give justin a call. But don’t wait too long.

Gwen: Dad? Sorry, I know I don’t– I don’t have a right to call you that anymore. I just, um… I wanted to say thank you.

Jack: [Weeps]

Anna: Yes, but in a possessive and childish way. I know now that you only went along with sarah’s delusions because facing the truth would have been too hard for her. I was so mad with jealousy, I–I couldn’t see that.

Tony: Oh. Anna, I know that I hurt you as well, but I felt I had to help sarah. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t able to help renee all those years ago… the way her life ended so tragically, and I couldn’t stop it. I know you may not want to hear this, but… I did love her.

Anna: [Sniffles] I think that we should go down to the crypt and pay our respects to renee.

Tony: You’d do that?

Xander: I, uh, saw jack outside. Told him the good news.

Gwen: [Exhales] Wh– what good news?

Xander: The antidote worked.

Gwen: That’s good. That’s really good. I’m glad you told me that.

Xander: I wanted to thank you, gwen.

Gwen: I’m really glad it worked out.

Xander: So what’s, um– what’s going on with you now?

Gwen: Oh. [Exhales] Um…my father hired justin to represent me. He says that he can get my sentence down to five years if I plead guilty to the lesser crimes.

Xander: And are you gonna do it?

Gwen: I don’t know yet.

[Sighs] But I do know this is probably– this is probably the last time you and I are gonna see one another. So there’s something I would like to say to you. With depression, you just feel…blah.

Maggie: What do you think?

Sarah: Mom, it’s perfect.

Maggie: [Chuckles lightly] You look like your old self again.

Sarah: I feel like my old self. Thank you.

Maggie: You’re very welcome. I don’t want to let go. I just, uh, imagine losing you again.

Sarah: I’m not going anywhere.

Maggie: Okay. I’m gonna hold you to that. Oh, sarah.

[Sniffles]

Gwen: Do you remember when we first met?

[Clicks tongue] I couldn’t bloody stand you.

Gwen: No, there’s more, obviously. In the beginning, I found you insufferable. You were arrogant, annoying… what an obnoxious nob you were.

[Chuckles] Then I saw another side to you. A softer side. You weren’t just some thug with no conscience and no soul. You felt. And you felt deeply. You felt deeply for me.

Xander: Look, gwen, I–

Gwen: God, you were so good to me, xander. Really, you were, you– you made so many sacrifices to protect me from my lies. Let’s see, what was there, um, disposing of a body, you went to jail, gave up $1 million, all to protect a woman so pathetic–

Xander: You’re not pathetic, gwen.

Gwen: Fine–a woman so desperate to have a relationship with her father that she just became this… hurricane of destruction. You see…

[Sniffles] When you spend your whole life deprived of any affection, and…someone walks into your life and genuinely cares about you–

Xander: You’ll do anything to hold on to them.

Gwen: You get it. You get it. You were the only one who ever got it. You are the only one who’s ever understood me. No one has ever been there for me the way that you have before.

[Sighs] And I blew it. I blew it all to hell.

[Sniffles] I mean, you gave me your heart, didn’t you xander? And, um…god, I was so afraid of losing it that I absolutely crossed the line. I did. I kept you from the woman that you truly loved. The woman who inspired you to be a better man. The woman who helped you open that beautiful heart of yours.

[Sniffles] I was wrong. And I will always, always regret it.

[Sniffles] But do you know that through… all of my mistakes… with everything that is has cost me…

[Sighs] I also received the most wonderful gift. It’s one that you gave me. The gift of love.

[Laughs] You made me realize that I am worthy of love. And more importantly…

Tony: Are you sure you want to go inside? I mean, with all that’s gone on here recently.

Anna: Oh, darling, I think the worst is behind us. I mean, ben and johnny are both free, your evil twin andre is, well, a pile of dust. And the devil is on the lam. So I think we have nothing to be afraid of. I think we should go in, do what we came to do, and then after that we can go back to our champagne and back to our celebration.

[Keys jingling]

Tony: Shall we?

Anna: Mm-hmm.

Gwen: I have a chance to make things right. And if I take it…

[Sighs] I don’t know, I might actually have a chance of having a family. And there’s no guarantees, of course, but… if I make good choices, if I make smart choices, then this could be a new beginning for me.

Sarah: [Giggles] Mom cut it.

Xander: I did. Yeah, she said she’d let us know as soon as you can leave.

Sarah: No. No, I’m not hungry. But there is one thing that I want desperately.

[Uneasy music]

Anna: [Sighs] Well, rest in peace, renee. I know–I know it’s rather ironic, considering I never gave you a moment’s peace while you were alive. But despite everything that happened between us, I am sorry that you were taken from this world so soon, and… I do hope that you’re in a better place now. Mmm.

Tony: That was lovely, anna.

Anna: Your turn.

Tony: Are you sure?

Anna: Mmm. You can say anything you want. I’ll give you a moment.

Tony: Thank you. Hmm. Character, I’m told, reveals itself in times of adversity. We show our true colors when things in life get difficult. And they were difficult for us, weren’t they? What could be worse than finding out that the man that you were planning to marry was your brother? Sonny: And what about maggie? Didn’t she bring sarah home from that florida clinic last night? Is sarah doing any better?

Victor: No answers. Not until I get mine.

Sonny: [Sighs softly]

Maggie: Sarah, you barely touched your breakfast.

Sarah: It’s yucky.

Maggie: Well, are you thirsty? Do you want some juice?

[Giggles]

Xander: Knock, knock. Is it all right if I come in?

Jake: Gabi, maybe you can come back later.

Ava: Yeah, how about never? That work for you?

Gabi: Now works. Oh, looks like someone didn’t get a lot of sleep last night. Why don’t you go do something about those bags under your eyes so I can chat privately with jake?

Ava: Yeah. I gotta get up anyway. And, uh, gabi? For the record, it was jake’s idea to share the bed.

[Awkward music]

Abigail: It was only thanks to ava that we finally have proof of what gwen did to me and sarah. And as happy as I am to finally have goods on my sister, it just makes me a little bit queasy, I suppose, that a former mafia princess is the person who helped me, especially this particular one.

Kayla: Well, you are smart to be wary. I don’t care how many times ava vitali says that she has turned over a new leaf in life. She’s dangerous. Maybe even more so if she’s giving you something that you want.

Abigail: I’m sure you’re right, which is why I will remain on my guard as far as ava vitali goes.

Kayla: That’s wise. On a bright note, though, at least gwen is paying for her crimes.

Abigail: Not all of them.

Gwen: So when you say “make those bitches pay”…

Leo: Okay, to sum it up, abigail screwed you, chad screwed me, true?

Gwen: Very true.

Leo: So we either sit around feeling sorry for ourselves, or we go after them in a similarly ruthless fashion.

Gwen: Payback.

Leo: The bigger, the badder, the better. I know for a fact that if we put our deviously brilliant minds together, we will make them regret going after matty, aka leo, and guinevere, aka gwen.

Gwen: Well, matty, aka leo, as much as I love the idea of getting revenge on my sister and her husband…

Leo: I thought you might.

Gwen: Yeah, see, but there’s just one tiny, teeny little problem.

Leo: Mm, what is that?

Gwen: Okay, I’ll give you three guesses.

Leo: Uh, okay. You’ve decided that you want to live an honest and honorable life from now on?

Gwen: Wrong. Two more.

Leo: You don’t want to collaborate with me because I’m so unpopular, you think it will reflect badly on you?

Gwen: Nope. Okay, for your third one, I’m gonna give you a little hint, yeah?

[Handcuffs rattle]

Leo: Oh, right. You’re going to prison.

Gwen: Ding, ding, ding, ding.

Xander: I talked to a lab tech on my way in.

Maggie: Mm.

Xander: He said they’re running tests on the antidote, and they haven’t found anything in it that could harm sarah.

Maggie: Well, that may be true, but no matter how many tests the lab runs, it’s far from a complete picture. A full panel of tests to guarantee that the drug is safe could take months or years.

Xander: What if sarah doesn’t have that kind of time, maggie?

Maggie: Oh, xander. We’re talking about a serum that was cooked up by a mad scientist. My daughter is not a lab rat. I mean, whether she’s 7, or 30 or 130, she’s my daughter. And all of these weeks spending all this time with her– as strange as it’s been, to find myself raising a little girl again, I’ve cherished it.

Xander: Are you saying that you don’t care if she stays a l–child for the rest of her life?

Maggie: Of course I care. I just don’t want to tempt fate. This antidote– it’s a complete unknown. Now, maybe it will help sarah, and maybe it won’T. But right now, this very minute, what I do have is my beautiful daughter, my healthy, my happy girl who answers me when I call her name. Don’t you, sarah? Sarah?

[Suspenseful music]

Gabi: You sleeping in these days? I know whatever ava wants me to believe, I know it’s not true.

Jake: Can it, gabi.

Ava: Huh. Still here.

Gabi: We haven’t even gotten started.

Ava: Don’t mind me. I’ve got an errand to run. I’ll see you later.

Jake: Mm-hmm.

Ava: Thanks for being so kind earlier.

Gabi: Aw, what’d you do? Did you bring her disgusting lasagna to bed? Bet she’s cooking up a storm for you, right?

Jake: What do you want?

Gabi: Right down to business. No “how are you?” “What’s new”?

Jake: How are you, gabi? What’s new?

Gabi: I’m fine. Thank you so much for asking. Oh, although, I’m sure you’re not very well, ’cause I read in “the intruder” that you were attacked by the devil in ben and sarah’s apartment.

Jake: Oh, yeah, that.

Gabi: I mean, it sounded pretty harrowing. Although it is “the intruder,” so I’m sure they exaggerated the details.

Jake: No, it was 100% accurate… and, uh, not the first time.

Gabi: My god–wait, so you’re saying that’s the truth, that johnny was possessed the day that you two fought at dimera?

Jake: Oh, yeah, you mean the day that you two clowns ousted me? Yeah.

Gabi: So that means the devil attacked you, too, then.

Jake: Yeah. We’ve established that. So if that’s everything, then there’s the door.

Gabi: No, it’s not– that’s exactly what I came here to talk to you about.

Jake: The devil?

Gabi: No, dimera. I’m here to un-oust you.

Jake: Excuse me?

Gabi: Jake, I want you back.

Jake: Huh.

Victor: Will told you to take the job at titan?

Sonny: He did.

[Exhales] Will and I and ari… I don’t–we miss salem. You know? And when I brought the idea of becoming ceo up with him, he–he didn’t think that splitting our time between phoenix and salem would be a problem.

Victor: I thought he loved his job at that newspaper.

Sonny: He does. But he’s been working on a lot of feature stories he can just file from home. Plus, ari will be out of school soon. It’s already may. You know, will could just bring her out here for the summer. Plus, I’m sure gabi would be thrilled.

Victor: Oh, well, as long as gabi’s thrilled.

Sonny: [Chuckles]

Victor: So does that mean that you’ll take it?

Sonny: I’m in.

Victor: [Chuckles]

Maggie: Sarah? Sweetheart? Look at me. Can you say something?

Xander: Sarah, can you hear us?

Maggie: Oh, god, xander. What’s happening? We gotta get– we gotta get kayla.

Xander: Yeah, I’ll go. You stay with sarah.

Maggie: Okay.

Kayla: So gwen told you that she killed your grandmother?

Abigail: After everything she did to sarah, to me, she made herself out to be the victim because I ruined her wedding, I ruined her life. So I think she just wanted to hurt me as deeply as she possibly could. And the way she said it, oh, kayla, it was so hateful. It was vicious.

Kayla: And you believed her?

Abigail: Well, when we got to the police station, then she reversed herself. She said that laura’s death was an accident. So, honestly, I don’t know what to believe, which is exactly what she wants. To never know the truth is the worst form of torture.

Kayla: It’s just diabolical.

Abigail: Tell me about it. And I know I can never rely on gwen for the truth, but the idea that she could be getting away with murdering my grandmother?

Kayla: I’m sorry you’ve gone through this. Well, that you’re still going through it.

Abigail: Yeah, but it’s not just me. She’s hurt so many people. The most important thing, though, is that she’s behind bars right now, where she belongs. And I guess there is one good thing that came out of it. She gave us the antidote for sarah.

Xander: Kayla! You have to help sarah. Now.

Leo: Okay, okay. So, yes, your going to prison could be a possible impediment to our plan, but, girl, you’ve always been so resourceful. I’m sure you will think of a clever way out of this injustice.

Gwen: Okay, matty, as much as I appreciate your encouragement…

[Scoffs] My resources and my bank account are running on empty at the moment. I don’t even have money for a lawyer.

Leo: So even without some sleazy lawyer, it’s not like you’re a low-life criminal. So you drugged your romantic rival. It was a crime of passion. People get off for those all the time.

Gwen: This is not just about sarah, my friend. I do have a few other charges to take off the list.

Leo: Abigail. Right. Did you really assault her and then look the other way as she was shipped off to a desert island?

Gwen: It was a very nice island.

Leo: Well, you wouldn’t hear me complaining. But back on topic. Whatever went down with abigail, she’s your sister. You’re still family. Can’t you get your dad to convince her to drop the charges? Play nice?

Gwen: Are you joking? I mean, did you not just hear yourself call her a mean junkyard dog? Not to mention the fact that when my wedding did blow up and I was arrested, I… I might have whispered something to abigail that would be quite hard to forgive.

Leo: Well, I hate to admit, I’m salivating to know what that was.

[Suspenseful music]

I told abigail that I killed her grandmother on purpose.

Leo: Did you? I was on an antidepressant,

Victor: About time you returned to your rightful place at titan.

Sonny: I–I don’t know what– I’m sc–I’m excited. You know? A–as– as satisfying as it’s been creating a company in mom’s honor, I miss titan.

Victor: Yeah, well, they’ve certainly missed your leadership. But you can’t rest on your laurels. Your buddy chad over there and the rest of the dimeras– they’re not gonna stop looking for ways to take us down.

Sonny: Well, ch–chad’s not the ceo anymore.

Victor: No, gabi is, which is even worse. Conniving little weasel came at titan once already. Can’t turn your back on her, not for a second.

Sonny: Oh, okay. Yes, well, I promise to be as cutthroat as possible with the mother of will’s child, the child that we are raising together.

Victor: Good.

Sonny: I–I was being, uh, sarcastic, uncle vic. Uh, but–but you don’t have to worry, okay? You don’t have to worry. I will not let my personal feelings for gabi interfere with my decisions. Okay? Business is business.

Victor: Well, just what I wanted to hear. With you at the helm, titan is gonna come back stronger and better than ever.

Sonny: Um, there’s also something else I should probably bring to your attention.

Victor: What?

Sonny: Leo stark has sworn revenge against me.

Leo: Did you really kill the old lady on purpose? You know me. I’m a vault.

[Ominous music]

Gwen: Ava. What the hell are you doing here?

Leo: She obviously came by to show off her 30 pieces of silver.

Ava: If you don’t mind, I’m here to see gwen.

Leo: Oh, but I do mind. See, I’m not sure you know how friendship works. So let me give you a tip. When a friend shares a secret with you, you keep it to yourself. You don’t blab it all over town, thereby ruining said friend’s life.

Ava: Gwen? May I speak with you alone?

Leo: Look, linda tripp, I’m not going anywhere. For all we know, you’re wearing a wire. So stop wasting our time. Get the hell out of here.

Gwen: Yeah, what he said.

Ava: Okay, look, I know you have no reason to want to talk to me…

Gwen: You think?

Ava: But I would not be here if it wasn’t important. Please. Just let me say my piece, and then I will go.

Leo: Don’t let the door hit you.

Gwen: Okay, ava. Go on then, say your piece. Let’s hear it.

[Tense music]

Jake: You want me back?

Gabi: As my employee, of course. Did I not make that clear?

Jake: Yeah, yeah. You made that abundantly clear. But–

Gabi: But what?

Jake: Is this some kind of joke? Are you, like–is johnny gonna pop out with a camera or something?

Gabi: No joke, jake.

Jake: The answer’s no.

Gabi: Well, I mean– will you at least hear me out?

Jake: [Sighs] You got five minutes.

Gabi: Okay, listen, I was only trying to get rid of you at dimera–

Jake: You mean, stab me in the back?

Gabi: Because I thought you were making moves to screw me over. I mean–you told me I have four minutes; would you please just let me say what I came here to say?

Jake: Go right ahead.

Gabi: Okay. Now that I know the truth, now that I know it was the devil, I want you back at dimera.

Jake: What’s your angle, gabi?

Gabi: No. What do you mean? There’s no angle. There’s no angle. Y–y–you’re great with the clients. People love you. Y–you’re great at what you do. Shin has some–has a soft spot for you, and you clearly haven’t found any other gainful form of employment.

Jake: So what, I’m just gonna trot back to dimera and work for you?

Gabi: Yes.

Jake: I’ll say it again. What’s your angle? There’s gotta be one.

Xander: What in hell could be taking so long?

Abigail: Kayla’s only been gone a few minutes. I mean, she’s gotta do a thorough exam. She might have to do more tests–

Xander: More tests? They haven’t got the results back from the first ones yet.

Abigail: Look, I know it’s frustrating, but this is the only way we’re gonna find out what’s wrong.

Xander: I’ll tell you what’s wrong. We need to give sarah that antidote. I mean, the longer we wait, who knows what’s gonna happen? My god, what if– what if sarah doesn’t come out of this? What if she gets worse? What if–what if she dies?

Abigail: Xander, whatever is wrong with sarah, I’m sure it is not life-threatening.

Xander: How can you be sure? You a–a doctor? You a scientist? You didn’t even see what she was like. She was fine, albeit as a seven-year-old, and then she was staring off into space, completely out of it.

Abigail: Well, maybe it’s– it’s temporary. It could be a delayed side effect of the drug.

Xander: What, her powering down like a faulty computer? Tell me, abigail, when you were dosed, did chad have to reboot you like his bloody laptop?

Abigail: Look… I know you blame me for what happened to sarah.

Xander: Of course i blame you. If you hadn’t been so determined to get revenge on your sister with that bloody syringe, none of this would be happening.

Abigail: And you have no idea how sorry I am.

Xander: What good does sorry do? Look, um, I’m sorry. At least you came forward with the truth that gwen was more than happy to send sarah to hell with a second dose. I mean, if it hadn’t been for you… at least sarah has a fighting chance now. So as angry as I am, I guess I owe you my thanks. Looking to get back in your type 2 diabetes zone?

Gabi: I told you, there’s no angle. It’s just a smart business move.

Jake: Gabi, you don’t do anything unless there’s something in it for you. And I don’t mean that as an insult. It obviously helped you get where you are. But if you want me to join you, you at least owe me the decency to be honest.

Gabi: Okay, fine. Ej is making noise about wanting his job back. A lot of noise.

Jake: Ah, so you’re scared.

Gabi: I’m not scared.

[Laughs] I’m scared? No. I just need to be prepared.

Jake: So you need a wingman?

Gabi: I need only what you can offer.

Jake: Oh. This is gonna be good.

Gabi: No matter how qualified I am, and I am damn qualified, I am not a dimera. Not by blood, and that’s what counts.

Jake: That’s where I come in.

Gabi: Look, when I’m going up against ej in that boardroom, I’m gonna need a dimera on my side. That’s where you come in. And yes, your skills seal the deal, but once the board sees what a great team we are, they’re not gonna pick ej over us. This could be the–the power that we’ve talked about.

Jake: [Sighs] A lot’s changed, gabi.

Gabi: You got something better going?

Jake: We just broke up.

Gabi: Yeah. And we’re adults, right? I mean, you’ve made it very clear that you don’t want to get back together. I swear to you, I will keep our arrangement platonic, very similar to what you have going on with ava. So what do you say?

Gwen: [Sighs] It’s all right, matty. You can go, really. Thank you for stopping by.

Leo: Are you sure about this? You want me to leave you alone with her?

Gwen: Yes, it’s fine, honestly, really.

Leo: Okay. But if you need anything, I’m here for you because that’s the kind of friend I am, unlike some people.

[Tense music]

Gwen: I have to say, the very sight of you makes me sick. Do just say what you have to say and say it quickly, and then get the hell out of here, please.

Maggie: Kayla just finished examining sarah, and she’s on her way down to the lab to rush the test results. Oh.

Kayla: Which I just read.

Xander: What do they say?

Maggie: Go ahead.

Kayla: I’m sorry. It’s not good. According to these latest scans, sarah’s condition is deteriorating.

Xander: You needed to look at a scan to tell you that? The woman’s catatonic.

Maggie: Xander…

Xander: I’m sorry.

Kayla: I know how frustrating this is for both of you. We had really hoped that the effects of the drug would diminish over time like they did with abigail.

Abigail: But I got a much smaller dose, and it was just the one time.

Kayla: And that seems to have made a critical difference. In sarah’s case, the increased dosage seems to still be acting on her brain chemistry. First, it made her believe that she was a child, and now it is sending her into a fugue state.

Xander: But the antidote could reverse that process, right?

Kayla: I can’t say for sure. But that’s what we hope. In fact, at this point, it’s our only hope.

Maggie: But the drug– it has–still hasn’t been fully vetted.

Kayla: I understand, maggie. But based on these scans and the rate of deterioration that is progressing, if we don’t intervene, sarah could end up in a permanently vegetative state.

Xander: You can’t let that happen.

Kayla: I know, maggie, that you do not want to expose sarah to any more drugs. And this is absolutely your call. But if we don’t do something, if we don’t try this, I’m afraid it’s going to get worse.

[Soft music]

Maggie: Give sarah the drug. I have moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.

Sonny: Oh, my gosh. I thought I should let ysonny.

Victor: Damn it, sonny. Leo stark is just the kind of trouble we don’t need.

Sonny: Look, it could just be an empty threat. All right, in fact, it–it most likely is. But since the last time I got involved with leo, we almost torched titan, I thought I should let you know. Especially since he already went after chad.

Victor: I’ll say. I saw the article in “the intruder.” Since when did chad start playing for your team?

Sonny: Oh, my gosh. He doesn’t play for my team.

Victor: Are you sure about that?

Sonny: Oh, my go–yes, yes, I am sure, and more importantly, so is chad. But look, uncle vic, if I’m gonna come back to titan, you have to promise me one thing, all right? You can’t believe everything that you read.

Ava: I came here to apologize.

Gwen: For sending me up the river? Aw, how touching.

Ava: Listen, I really am sorry, gwen. You have to believe me. Look, I just– I never meant to sell you out to the cops. It’s just, they had me dead to rights. And I needed a life preserver ’cause I was going down. And unfortunately, the life preserver was you.

Gwen: My god. Did you actually think that you could come here and make nice, and say that I served as your damn life preserver, and that all would be forgiven? My family hates me. Xander hates me. I’m going to prison. You have completely destroyed my life, ava. Now please get the hell out of here now!

Ava: Not quite yet. Because I did not come here to beg for your forgiveness. I came here to help you.

Maggie: It won’t be long, sweetheart.

Xander: God willing.

[Door opens]

Kayla: Ready?

Maggie: Yeah. Sarah, kayla’s here. She’s going to give you some medicine, all right?

Kayla: Not to worry, all right?

[Dramatic music]

Feeling sluggish or weighed down?

Leo: Perfect.

[Sniffs]

Sonny: Well, look who it is. You’re still in town?

Leo: Hi, sonny. I told you I wasn’t going anywhere.

Sonny: Yeah, well, I hoped you weren’t serious.

Leo: Oh. You know how much I love this burg. There’s still so much left to accomplish. Congratulations, by the way. “Sonny kiriakis named ceo of titan.” Guess that means you’re sticking around salem too.

Sonny: Yeah. I will be.

Leo: [Inhales] That is such good news. Now I’ve got you right where I want you. Mmm, you cute thing. Toodles.

Gabi: Well? My five minutes are ticking, so… give me the answer, and I’ll get out of here.

Jake: Okay. I’ll do it.

Gabi: Great. Welcome back to dimera.

Gwen: Help me?

[Scoffs] What can you do? Unless you’re planning on hiring me a lawyer.

Ava: Yeah, I’m afraid I can’t do that. But I can do you one better.

Gwen: How?

Ava: I’m gonna bust you out of here.

[Dramatic music]

Abigail: Did you–

Kayla: I gave sarah the antidote.

Abigail: So now what?

Kayla: Now we wait.

[Uneasy music]

Maggie: No news yet, I’m afraid.

Victor: Sarah’s a strong girl. She’ll pull through this.

Maggie: [Sighs] I hope to god you’re right.

Victor: Well, god and i haven’t always seen eye to eye, but in this case, I think he’s on our side.

Maggie: Mm. Well, I hope so.

Victor: You’ll keep me posted?

Maggie: I will.

Victor: I love you, maggie.

Maggie: I love you too.

[Sighs] No change?

Xander: Nothing yet.

Maggie: Shouldn’t something be happening by now?

Xander: Oh, believe me, maggie, I’m every bit as impatient as you, but we need to give the drug a chance– maggie.

Maggie: Sarah?

Sarah: Xander?

[Wondrous music]

Xander: [Exhales]

Maggie: [Gasps] Ah! Sarah, oh, my.
