Nice? It’s heartbreaking for the three-point favorite. Are you going to swim tonight? It’s perfect weather. Uh, nah, I think I’m just going to sip on this piña colada. I’m really glad you asked me to hang out tonight. Mm-hmm. I feel like you’ve been so focused on taking down linc that we just need a break, a night to just chill, you know? Mm-hmm. But I guess that was just too much to ask for, huh? I really appreciate you giving marshall space to talk to aunt stella and me. Now, I’m sure you have your own questions, but it really meant a lot. [ Sighs ] Well, I’m not going to lie to you. I’m confused. There’s a lot to process. For me, as well. Even though I’m a medical professional. I felt a pit in my stomach when I saw marshall’s medication, and when he said that — that his diagnosis was schizophrenia, I had an immediate, visceral reaction. That’s understandable. Medical strides have come a long way, but it is a complicated diagnosis. Just imagine how marshall felt hearing that 40 years ago. He was probably terrified — not only of the stigma, but for what could happen to him. Which is why he chose to leave and stay lost for so long. At least now you know that it wasn’t out of neglect. It was out of love for you and my father. Marshall wanted to protect you, even from himself if it came to that. Cheers. Oh, well, it’s bad luck to toast with water. Oh, yes, I heard about that. But what if the water’s as sparkly as your eyes?

[ Chuckles ] Besides, I’ve had all the bad luck that one person is allotted in one lifetime. Granted, I’m to blame for most of it. Can I tell you, I don’t want to tempt fate, but I think that luck is going to turn around. Oh, really? Yeah. Do tell. Well, because the hearing is over. No more secrets, betrayal. And my buddy tommy fazio had just gotten busted for shoplifting, and my mother was convinced that I was going to be next. And off you went. Yeah. And I wasn’t thrilled about nature, you know? But then it dawned on me that I’d be away from my mother and my 200 other relatives that lived in the vicinity of our apartment. That their sole purpose in life was to guide me and supervise me. Okay. Yeah. I’m assuming nature was the downside. Nature, to me, was a church parking lot, playing stickball.

[ Chuckles ] You know, I wasn’t opposed to nature, but getting that close to it? No, it wasn’t my first choice, no. Well, on the upside, no supervision. Well, limited supervision, right? I mean, you still had counselors, but at least I wasn’t related to any of them. And then you met cody? Yeah. Yeah. You know, most of the kids at camp, they were like me, city kids. But cody, he was a country kid. He was different. He was comfortable out there. And I saw him, and I’m thinking, “I should take some pointers from that kid.” Well, cody seems to want to remind you all the time about the trouble the two of you got into back in the day. Yeah, he does. We, uh… well, we had some good times. I was surprised you came to work tonight. Isn’t the owner entitled to take a night off every now and then? Sure. But I got something going on tonight. Chase: Something tells me tonight wasn’t just about us hanging out.

[ Sighs ] Did you know linc would be here? Well, I hoped so. I saw him checking in in the lobby earlier. I knew he was up to something, and I was right. Don’t jump to conclusions. Did you see him talking to selina wu? That has to be fishy, right? Selina wu has never been convicted of anything. In the eyes of the law, it’s not a crime for linc to associate with her. So one of the activities at camp was horseback riding, and the closest thing I’d ever been to a horse, being from bensonhurst, was, whenever we went to the city as kids, we’d see them pulling carriages through central park or, you know, cops mounted on patrol, that kind of thing. Mm-hmm. So, okay, there I am, you know, 12 years old, staring up at this giant beast with its nostrils flaring, and I’m thinking…

[ Chuckles ] “I don’t want to get on top of that thing.” So cody sees this, and he walks over. And then I started thinking, “oh, great, this guy’s going to give me a hard time because I’m scared,” and he didn’T. He walked up to me. He was super chill. He’s like, “hey, man,” taught me how to stand, how to approach the horse, how to be respectful towards the horse. I was comfortable with the horse. The horse was comfortable with me. And then he said horses can sense human emotion, and it’s their gift. You know, at that point I figured he was a good guy, and we had each other’s backs ever since. So the guy’s got layers.Mm. And I think that’s why you’ve been able to tolerate some of the more questionable ones? Where he may be a screw-up, for sure, but he’s got a heart of gold.

[ Sighs ]

[ Clears throat ] Ah, uh, can I help you? Well, I think we could help each other. I know what’s really going onbetween you and zelda. A girl after my own heart. I love a good s’more. I can eat 10 s’mores. Can you do that? Alright, let’s see. I’ll tell you what. We’ll wash these sticks off, we’ll get them dry, and I promise that I won’t munch any marshmallows in the meantime.

Oh, he — he said that after the divorce and everything that happened w-with nina, that I-I basically threw away my relationship with my kids.

I just want to talk about what we still have in common, namely our kids, starting with michael and what this rift between the two of you is doing to him. And if you were to jump ship, it would — it would just be me, maxie, and my mother. You round out our little motley crew. Yeah. I would miss you, too. And, obviously, I wasn’t thinking clearly. [ Sighs ] How do you not see that? I don’t get you. I get it, you and michael are fighting… right. …But you have been his father since he was 2 years old. You raised him. And I love michael. Then how could you sit in the courtroom and listen to him be attacked like that?

I mean, the woman owns a company, for god’s sake. What does she care about 500 bucks? Okay, dude, listen, why don’t you relax? Let’s get a drink, okay? Eh, no thanks. I’m buying. Maybe someone remembers esme from the store. Yeah, she’s hard to forget. Alas, the phone has very little data on it. It was only used twice — once on the night in question and then to send the e-mail blast, neither of which offer much information. What — what about the serial number? That’s unique to the phone, right? Yeah, it is. It is, yes. But according to the serial number, this phone doesn’t even exist. So did you do a lot of camping as a kid? Not a lot a lot, but enough. [ Chuckles ] Anyway, the trip was a disaster. It rained the entire time. Our tent had seen better days. Oh, no. Water was leaking in on the sides, and georgie, of course, insisted that I sleep in the middle. That’s love. Or she would rather get soaked than listen to me complain. Right. I think she was right. I think you need to be somebody who works at nasa to figure out how to use these instructions. Voil. Stick with me. You’ll be just fine. Yeah. I’m starting to see that. Oh, we’re going to aiden’s port charles pioneers rally. Oh! Well, what a wonderful idea. Elizabeth is going to love hearing that you’re all going on a camping trip together as blended families. I’m late for work. I, uh — I think maybe I should go talk to cam. No, actually, I’ve got this. When you are visualizing vectors, do you do it in “a,” one dimension, “b,” two dimensions, or “c,” three dimensions? Okay. Um, vectors. Vectors. Visualizing vectors. Is it…”a”? No! It’s “B.” Ugh! “B,” two dimensions, babe. Oh. Who am I kidding? I am never gonna pass the mcats and get into med school, and I’m never gonna fulfill my dream of becoming a doctor! Think about the questions as if you’re dealing with an actual patient — someone that came to you for answers.” And that did the trick? Yeah, it did. It reminded me of why I wanted to become a doctor in the first place. And it wasn’t to do good on some tests, it was to help people. Well, then it looks like we came to the right place. Cameron, a-aren’t you gonna go with everybody else on the camping trip? I got my hands full with my job here, my second job at the metro court pool. Not to mention damage control with joss.

[ Sighs ] Look, I-I don’t want to pry. But, cameron, it’s summer after your freshman year in college. Don’t you think you deserve to have a little fun? I don’t know, roughing it out at pautuck state park is just not my idea of a good time. Not a fan of sleeping in a tent, huh? I know it’s legally the correct thing to do to offer you medical treatment, but if it were up to me, I would have taken you down a long time ago. All your victims, all the people you killed — you never gave them a chance to survive. So even though I can imagine you hate your life as a vegetable trapped in a body that can’t do anything, it’s still way better than you deserve.

She should be focusing on herself right now, but she won’t be able to do that if she knows that you’re putting your life on hold. That will add to her anxiety. So me going on this stupid camping trip might actually make her feel better? Is it really stupid to spend some time with your younger brothers right now? You know? Go for a walk in the woods, maybe run into a family of deer — just anything to distract their minds from what’s going on with their mother? I guess. You guess. Well, you like finn, right? Yeah, sure, I do. Okay. Well, I know everybody says that hamilton finn is a — is a genius who can cure incurable diseases, and they’re right, but he’s also a human being, and he could use your help right now. I know your mother was counting on you to help out right now. If ever there was a time for a family to come together, it’s now. So how does marshall’s story affect me? Well, it affects you because it affects me. Now, I don’t think I’m betraying any confidence by telling you this. Now, I know he takes heart medication, but I don’t know what kind or what dose. Tj and I, we had the key card to marshall’s hotel room, so t went up to his room to look for the pills. Now, we were just trying to help the doctors with any information we could. What? A-are you saying that marshall’s heart condition is worse than he initially let on? No. I’m saying that there was no medication for any heart issues. Tj found antipsychotic medication. All these years, marshall has been taking medication… …for schizophrenia. “This is to inform you that you have been found in violation of regulations enumerated under title ix.”

[ Sighs ] “You will be contacted by the dean’s office to schedule a meeting, in which time sanctions against you will be stipulated and possible expulsion will be addressed.” Okay. Well, we still get to meet the dean, so there’s a chance that they’ll impose sanctions while allowing you to stay enrolled at pcu. Thanks for trying to stay positive, but…

[ Sighs ] I don’t need a pep talk. Actually, I-in a way, this decision did me a favor. A favor. How? It’s like climbing a high diving board. It’s so much scarier to climb back down rather than just to take a deep breath and jump. Okay, but what are you jumping into? The way I see it, if anyone’s going to clear my name and prove that I’m not guilty, it’s gonna be me. Okay, well, just know that you’ve got your family and you’ve got me, and, hopefully, cam.

I mean, ava made a huge gesture by returning home to me. She even went so far as to accept you, to reinstate an allowance from spencer’s trust. Those are huge concessions. [ Chuckles ] You always let chase and i figure things out on our own. Well, if memory serves, you never, uh — well, rarely took my advice. Very true. But I’m starting to. You know, instead of hovering over elizabeth, I’m taking the boys and violet on this camping trip. That’s very healthy, very mature. Mm. But if I know my son, and I think I do, you’re already planning some other way to help elizabeth, whether she wants it or not. That’s not fair — you bringing up mom’s expectations of me. Not when I’ve been disappointing her for a long time.

[ Sighs ] Cameron. Look, cameron, please don’t do this to yourself. You know, you made a mistake just like everybody else. Your mother is really, really proud of you. And beating yourself up right now is not productive, okay? You’re just gonna get bogged down with all of that, and then you can’t be present to help anyone else. Right? What sense does that make? Really, the best thing that you can do right now for your mother is to go on that camping trip, spend some time with your younger brothers. So what do you say? [ Sighs ] The last time I saw you, it was, “hello. Goodbye. Have a nice life.” Look, I thought it was for the best. Best for who? You encouraged me to go for my dream of becoming a doctor. This was never about some unknown enemy. He was protecting us from himself. So as long as tommy and i believed that he was dead, that was marshall sparing us from the pain, the grief, from the stigma of that disease. Yeah, well, 40 years ago, a-a lot less was known about that condition. Can you imagine the courage it took to walk away from your family to face that illness alone? Or the courage, even more so, to come back and tell the whole truth? It is very, very brave. Um… did you happen to mention if — if he’s had any recent episodes? No, the medication keeps it under control. You know what? I believe that marshall’s biggest fear isn’t what he’s about to do, but what he’s already done by passing on his dna. Now, I’ve read that this disease can be passed along genetically. Is that true? Do you always listen in on conversations and wait for the right time to make an entrance? People say a cop is never around when you need one. Well, now you can tell them they’re wrong. Okay. Well, sadly, I couldn’t get ahold of cam, but I’m glad you’re here. You know, pcu may have made a decision about the title ix findings, but there’s still time before a judge has to rule trina’s case. I’m on the clock right now, but once I’m off duty, we’ll come up with a strategy to exonerate trina. And the three of us had dinner at charlie’S. Oh, wait, you did? I — I’m p-pretty sure I saw — pretty sure I saw dante put handcuffs on him and take him to the pcpd. No, no, it never actually got that far. Dante acted like he was arresting him for britt’s benefit. Oh, thank goodness. I-I just mean it wasn’t that poor man’s fault that he fell into britt. He didn’t do it on purpose.

[ Cellphone rings ] Yeah. Ooh. Uh, gotta take this. Yes? Is it just me, or is there something off with spinelli? No, it’s not just you. I noticed it at the fundraiser. Well, I have a source who is very familiar with esme’s upbringing, and the source said that esme and maggie had lost touch at some point. But this person also tells me that there’s more to the story. That’s great. Do you think this nanny will give us some dirt on the real esme? Yeah, well, I’m hoping so. I just have to track her down first. Well, can’t you ask your source? Who is it, anyway? [ Sighs ] I’ve been so afraid of getting expelled. I’ve been only reading the worst in the report. Look, diane also told me that there’s no guarantee that pcu’s gonna expel you. You know, they could decide to offer you a sanction, you know, suspend you for a semester. I don’t know. Maybe. I-I told rory I just need to not think about it, just look for a distraction. Wait. You told rory? Why? What would you do if you were me? Oh, no, no, no. I’m — I’m not gonna go there. Oh, humor me. I’m giving you permission. Okay, well, hypothetically speaking, first I’d hire a good lawyer. Then I’d find a killer witness. There were a lot of people at the party, and the whole thing was recorded. [ Chuckles ] You didn’t want sasha to take those pills. Why not? Gladys thought that I was back on drugs. The habit-forming kind. Your mother believes that I have relapsed. Why do you think sasha’s abusing pills? Because she knows that I’ve been having a hard time, with liam and then the accident with harmony miller, plus all the pressure from the ipo launch of deception. Gladys…overreacted. Um, some of sasha’s behavior triggered my memories of when you were struggling with addiction, how you would do anything for a fix. And when I saw sasha with the pill bottle, I got the wrong idea. And it is the wrong idea. I’ve told gladys before, there’s nothing to worry about. Wait, wait, wait. You’ve had this conversation before with my mother? Is that why you’ve moved in with us? Are you using again?

If your lawyer subpoenaed me, then I’d have to tell the truth. They’d probably want to know about zelda telesco. What’s a zelda telesco? You don’t know zelda? She’s the matchmaker who runs society setups. Ha! See — ugh. This company clearly cares more about lining their own pockets than getting you a date.

[ Scoffs ] Who knows how many other washed-up women zelda’s preyed on besides you? What’s your point? Point is, okay, if your lawyer subpoenaed me, I’d have to tell the judge about my meeting with zelda, the one in which my concerns about the skydiving stunt were left unheeded. And you would be eager to do that? No, no, I’m not eager. I don’t want bad blood with any employer. But I’d have to. I’d never lie under oath. Of course not. You get yourself a killer witness, you can win a big settlement.

[ Sighs ] And would this star witness want a percentage of my settlement in exchange for betraying their employer? I mean, who knows what motivates people? I know what motivates you. [ Slurps ] Something wasn’t right about spinelli’s meeting with that so-called bill collector. Yeah, but spinelli seeing a therapist does make sense. We were just saying that he might be lonely. Yeah, but spinelli’s getting money from somewhere. I mean, what billing issues could he possibly have? I don’t know. Maybe it was a misunderstanding. Big enough for the therapist to send a bill collector here to the metro court? I mean, come on. Therapists don’t do that. I mean, they call. Yeah, I know something’s not right, but what?

[ Sighs ] I don’t know. You know what? We need to take spinelli out and have him open up to us. We’ll take him hatchet throwing. Okay. Yeah. That — that sounds like a plan, because it is not like spinelli to keep things from me. Yeah, but this is spinelli we’re talking about. I mean, he can’t be in any real trouble. It’s handled.
