Steve called Kayla to let her know that he and John were at the bus station to look for Jerry. They felt like Jerry was headed for Los Angeles. She wished them luck. Steve and John waited for the bus from Chicago to arrive. They saw Jerry get off the bus and wanted to question him about Whitley’s accusations. He let them know that Whitley lied to them. John wanted to know why she would lie. He told them that Whitley was the one who did it. He told them everything that Whitley did. Steve and John wanted to know if he was saying that Whitley killed Abe. They were shocked when he told them that Abe was alive. He told them that Whitley is drugging him and keeping him at her place. Jerry told them that he told Lani everything. They wanted to stop Whitley from leaving or hurting anyone else. Kayla talked to Marlena about Steve’s call. They talked about Whitley quitting. Marlena told her that she treated Whitley last fall and kept records. Kayla reminded her that she was possessed by the Devil during that time. They talked about the things Whitley went through. They talked about her husband’s accidental death and the deaths of her three cats. Marlena was worried that her possession kept Whitley from getting the care she deserved. She decided to give Whitley a call.

Kate went to see Paulina. They talked about her grief about Abe and Lani being missing. Kate assured Paulina that Rafe would find Lani. Paulina wasn’t sure since he didn’t find Philip when he was missing. Kate told her that Philip was at a mental hospital which is why Rafe never found him. She said that everyone thinks he’s dead, but he’s out of the country. Paulina was hopeful that Abe could be found. Rafe showed up at the station to get his things. He talked to Jada about how to find Lani when US Marshall Sam Gerard let them know that he was there to get Lani. Rafe confessed that they didn’t know where she was. They tried to convince the Marshall that Lani wouldn’t run away. Gerard agreed to help look for her. He warned them that Lani would have a longer sentence if she did run away. He activated her ankle monitor so they could track Lani down. Whitley tried to feed Lani, but she didn’t want it. She told Whitley that she’s not her mother and that she’s crazy. They argued about it. Whitley took out a syringe and said she didn’t want to kill her, but she didn’t give her a choice. Abe was scared as he watched Paulina inject Lani with the syringe. Lani passed out. Whitley told Abe that they were going to be together. She was going to make sure they stay together. Rafe, Gerard and Jada arrived at the docks when Lani’s ankle monitor went off. They found her unconscious.

Jada talked to Talia about her relationship with Rafe. She felt guilty that he lost his job because they were together. Rafe was trying to calm Paulina down because she freaked out over Lani. He promised to find Lani before anyone knew she was missing. Johnny saw Rafe and they caught up with each other. Johnny surprised Rafe when he told him about Nicole’s pregnancy. He told him about the paternity issue she had and Rafe wasn’t surprised by it. They walked into the pub when Jada announced that she enjoyed having sex with Rafe. Johnny and Rafe laughed, but Jada was embarrassed. Rafe wanted to talk to Jada privately. She apologized to him for mentioning it. She told him that Talia was asking her questions about it. She ended up cracking. Rafe was okay with it and teased her about it. He kissed her and asked her for her help. He needed her help to find Lani. She agreed to help him and keep the department out of it.

Nicole and EJ talked about Abe’s funeral. She told him that Abe’s death affected her. She said they could find out the sex of their baby at their next appointment. EJ wanted to find out, but Nicole didn’t since she was afraid of becoming too close to the baby. She was afraid she was going to lose the baby. EJ assured her that everything would be okay. Sloan was on the phone with Colin. He wanted to know if she knew anything about Nicole and Eric. She didn’t know anything. She didn’t know that Eric was in her apartment and heard the last part of her conversation. After she got off the phone, he questioned her about what she was talking about. She lied to him. She told him that she was late, but she didn’t want to get her hopes up. He was excited and went to get a pregnancy test. Later, he returned with the test and she took it. They waited for the results and it was positive.

Justin and Bonnie talk about how close they came to Xander finding out Sarah’s secret. Bonnie said it was hard to keep the secret. He said the best way to keep the secret is to stay quiet. Maggie walked in and wanted to know what they were talking about. They lied to her about what they were talking about, but she said she knew what they were keeping something from her. Bonnie asked if Rex told her. Maggie said she was confused because she thought they were talking about Justin being upset with her that Alex moved out. Justin said he wasn’t upset with her. He said he wasn’t avoiding her. Maggie said she was happy about that but she wanted to know what secret they were keeping that involved Rex. Bonnie said she found out Sarah was dating Rex again. She said Sarah swore her to secrecy. Maggie believed her and left. Bonnie called Sarah and told her to go along with the story. Sarah agreed to go along with it.

Stefan told Gabi about his truce with EJ. He also told her what happened with Dimitri and Kristen. She told him what she did with Li. Stefan was upset with her. He said he was sick of her putting herself in danger. He said it had to stop. They ended up arguing with each other. She eventually saw his point and agreed not to do it again. Stephanie told Chad she planned a romantic dinner for them. Alex showed up and asked if they were having trouble with their hot water. Chad was upset that Alex didn’t have a shirt on. Chad was also upset that he was interrupting them. Alex asked if he could use their shower. Stephanie said he could use it for five minutes. While Stephanie and Chad were about to eat, Alex came out of the room in Chad’s robe. Chad was upset, but he wanted him to leave. Alex asked if he could join them for dinner. When they finished eating, she told Alex to leave.

Steve and John broke in Jerry’s apartment. They noticed the window open. Jerry was gone. They searched Jerry’s apartment. They didn’t find any clues as to where he was. Steve called Jada. She agreed to help them check the airport and bus station. John and Steve talked about the information they had. They thought it didn’t make sense that Jerry would have kidnapped Abe and then reported seeing him go in the water without demanding a ransom. They knew they weren’t going to get the answers they wanted without finding Jerry. They heard a noise. Jerry’s printer was going off. They noticed that the printer was jammed. They fixed the printer. They saw that he printed out bus schedules. They went to the bus station before he left. Belle went to the police station to talk to Jada about Rachel. They talked about Shawn and how he felt guilty about Rafe getting fired. Jada said she felt guilty too. She said the department needed Rafe with everything going on. Rafe showed up at Paulina’s to escort Lani back to prison. Paulina told him Lani wasn’t there. Rafe and Paulina went to the park to look for Lani, but they didn’t find her. Paulina was getting upset and yelled at Rafe for being distracted by his relationship with Jada and not finding Abe. Paulina had a panic attack. Rafe took her to the hospital.

Whitley gave Kayla her two-week notice. Kayla tried to talk her out of quitting. Kayla asked her about saying she needed to put herself first. Whitley didn’t acknowledge Kayla’s question. She said she needed to leave Salem to look out for herself. Kayla asked her to go to her office to do her paperwork. Whitley told her she had to go home and pack. She said she would handle everything online. Kayla went to examine Paulina. Kalya told her she was fine. She said she had too much to handle at once. She told Paulina to rest and was going to check her numbers. When Kayla left, Paulina apologized to Rafe. He accepted her apology. They talked about Lani. They were both concerned about her.  The prison called Rafe, but he let it go to voicemail. He called them back and told them Lani was with him. He said he would have her back that night. When he got off the phone, he told Paulina that he bought them time but they had to find her quickly. Brady ripped up the custody agreement. He told Kristen to tell him where Rachel was. Kristen told him he wasn’t in charge. He pulled out a gun and said he was in charge. They started arguing. He had her pinned against a chair. Rachel came in and told him to leave her mother alone. He put the gun down and told Rachel to wait by the door. He told Kristen that she went too far. He said he was going to tell Rachel every horrible thing she has done. Rachel came back in the room and told him she didn’t want to go. He picked her up and carried her out. Kristen called Belle and wanted her to come over. When Belle showed up, Kristen asked her to talk to Brady because he would listen to her. Kristen said it was best for Rachel. Belle told her actions had consequences and refused to help her. Brady brought Rachel home. Someone knocked on the door. He told her to go to her room. He put John’s gun back. He opened the door. It was Jada. He was happy to see her. He said he was right about Kristen having Rachel. He asked her to arrest Kristen. Jada said she was there to arrest him. She asked if he pulled a gun out on Kristen. He was upset that Kristen called the police on him after kidnapping Rachel. Rachel came out and said she was the one who called the police. Lani talked to Abe and told him who she was. She tried to convince him Whitley wasn’t his wife. He was confused by the drugs and still had amnesia. When she was about to get him out, Whitley showed up. They ended up arguing. Lani told Whitley that she was Abe’s daughter. She said she was taking him home. She told Whitley that she was crazy and would be going to prison. When Lani turned his chair, Whitley stabbed her with a syringe.

Belle and Kristen argued about what happened. Kristen told her that Rachel was with Brady, but she didn’t kidnap her. Belle didn’t believe her and refused to help her. Brady was surprised that Rachel called the police on him. He said he didn’t own a gun, but she reminded him that he put it in the lockbox. Jada looked in it and found the gun. She told him to get a babysitter because he had to go to the station. They arrived at the station, and she wanted answers. Belle walked into the station while they were talking. Belle warned Brady not to say anything. He told her that he called Rachel a liar and he felt guilty about it. He wanted to tell the truth. Belle tried to convince Jada that what happened occurred in the heat of the moment. He said Brady would never hurt Kristen. Melinda walked in and said they weren’t going to let it go that easily. She wanted Jada to book Brady. Melinda wanted a statement from Kristen. Jada left to go to the DiMera mansion. EJ and Stefan talked about Megan and what she planned to do. Stefan was surprised that EJ didn’t want to help Megan. They talked about her escaping. EJ thought they should turn their attention to Dimitri and go after him together.

Jada arrived at the mansion to talk to Kristen. Kristen thought she was there to arrest her for kidnapping. Jada informed her that Rachel told her what happened. She wanted a statement about what Brady did. Brady and Belle arrived at John and Marlena’s place. He wondered if he could go to prison. Belle said he could if Kristen pressed charges. Rachel was listening in the hallway. Li was on the phone when Gabi arrived. She shocked him by pulling out a gun. She let him know that she didn’t believe he wasn’t in on the plan to kill Stefan. She told him that she was going to kill him to keep Stefan safe. He didn’t think she would do it. She reminded him that she shot her first husband. She wasn’t afraid of prison if it will keep Stefan safe. He told her that he was moving on with his life. He said he hired a matchmaker. He wanted her to look at his computer. She looked and saw that he was telling the truth. She informed him that he needed to remember what would happen if he went after Stefan again. Kristen was having a drink when Dimitri walked in the room. She wondered if he was sneaking his girlfriend or boyfriend out of the mansion. He tried to cover, but she let him know that Rachel told her what she saw. She thought he was with Leo to keep him quiet about his inheritance. Dimitri went along with it. Kristen told him that she wanted a portion of his inheritance to keep quiet. Stefan and EJ walk in the room and told Dimitri they were throwing him out. He said he didn’t have anything to do with his mother’s plot. They didn’t care and still wanted him out. Kristen defended him and told them she would make things harder for them if they kick him out. Stefan back down, but EJ was upset. He stormed out the room.

Brady talked to Belle about Kristen and Rachel. He told Belle that Marlena went to talk to Kristen. Belle was upset that she went to see Kristen. Brady assured her that she would be safe. He knew she could handle Kristen. She told him about Shawn’s suspension for drinking on the job. He offered to talk to him. Marlena wanted to know about Rachel, but Kristen wasn’t saying anything until they revisited the custody agreement. She said she might be able to tell where Rachel was if they had joint custody of Rachel. After Marlena talked to Kristen, she ran into Brady and Belle. She told Brady about Kristen’s demands. He didn’t want to give in to Kristen. Marlena told him that any judge would give Kristen some visitation. She thought it was better for the time being. Brady finally gave in, and Belle left to work out the custody agreement. Steve questioned Whitley about her resignation. She told him that she was going back to Arizona to be with her family. She was surprised that he knew so much about her family. He knew about her past because of her background check. He let her know that it happened when Abe disappeared. She looked scared, but he assured her that she was okay. Whitley tried to throw suspicion by telling him that Jerry was around Abe’s room the day he went missing. Brady took the agreement to Kristen. She was happy he was willing to see things her way. He was about to sign the paper and ripped it up.

Lani told Jerry that her family still had questions about Abe’s disappearance since they never found his body. Jerry felt guilty and finally confessed that he made the story up about Abe falling in the water. Lani wanted to know what he meant. He said he lied about everything. He confessed the entire story. He told her that Abe was still alive and being drugged in Whitley’s apartment. Abe kept watching Body & Soul and hallucinated that he was part of the show. He saw a character named Sandra and remembered they had a daughter. Jerry was rushing to finish packing so he could leave town. Steve pounded on his door. Abe heard someone knocking on Whitley’s door. He couldn’t move because of the drugs that Whitley gave him. Lani broke down the door and was surprised to see Abe in Whitley’s place.

Kayla and Kate talked at the pub. Kayla told her that Marlena broke through Harris’ brainwashing. Kate was happy about it. She told Kayla that she wanted Harris to take care of Megan so she would be out of their lives. Kayla said she agreed with what she wanted to do to Megan. Kate was surprised she felt that way. Kate asked her not to tell Roman what she did. Kayla said Kate should tell him the truth. She said Roman would understand. Chanel was setting up her display for Sweet Bits. A man named Clint showed up to introduce himself. He said he is the deputy mayor. He said he was acting mayor now that Abe has died. While Chanel and Clint were talking, he insulted her and Paulina. He warned Chanel that he would make sure she never had a business again if something else goes wrong. Wendy told Tripp and Johnny that she made her decision. She asked Tripp if he could leave her alone with Johnny so they could talk. When Tripp left, Johnny assumed she picked him. She said he still had feelings for Chanel. She said that was part of the reason why she chose Tripp. She said it wasn’t the only reason. He said he was over Chanel but Wendy didn’t believe him. She said she was sure of her choice.

Jada went to Steve and Kayla’s place to offer her condolences over Abe’s death. They talked until Tripp showed up. She left them alone so they could talk. Tripp told Steve that Wendy chose Johnny and he wasn’t happy about it. Steve told him to fight for her if he wanted to be with her. Tripp left so he could fight for Wendy. He was happy when she told him she chose him. Johnny ran into  Chanel. He told her Wendy chose Tripp. Harris told Marlena that he felt like he was a danger to others. He said he was sure he needed to be committed. She said she didn’t think he did. She said he could commit himself if that was what he wanted. He said he wanted her to do it because he couldn’t commit himself without approval. She tried to convince him that he wasn’t a bad person. She decided to do what he wanted. When she left to do the paperwork, Kate showed up. He told her what he decided to do. She apologized for her role in what happened to him. He said it wasn’t her fault. Shawn and Rafe got in an argument over Shawn getting suspended. Shawn told him about sleeping with Jada. Rafe asked if she told him. Shawn said she didn’t exactly tell him. He said he overheard her talking to Kate about it. Rafe told him about listening to people’s private conversation. While they were talking, Clint overheard them. He wanted to ask his own questions. Shawn tried to backpedal about what he said, but Clint didn’t believe him. When Jada showed up, Clint wanted to talk to her. Shawn tried to apologize for what happened, but Rafe told him it was too late. Rafe told him he was suspended and had to turn in his badge and gun. Shawn went to the hospital. He ran into Marlena and told her what happened to him. He asked her for help. When Clint was finished talked to Jada, he said she admitted to having an affair with Rafe. Rafe said he didn’t have the authority to fire Jada. Clint said he wasn’t going to fire her. He said he had the authority to appoint the commissioner. He told Rafe he was fired.

Paulina was getting ready for Abe’s funeral with Chanel. They talked about what Abe meant to them when Theo showed up. Paulina wanted Chanel to go to Steve and Kayla’s place to get pictures of Abe. She and Theo were going to meet Chanel at the church. Paulina wanted to talk to Theo alone about his eulogy. He practiced what he was going to say and she was moved by his speech. John showed up at Steve’s place. He told Steve that he had the same dream about Abe. He wondered if it was more than just a dream. John felt like it was a premonition like the one Steve had about Kayla. He thought Abe might be alive. Steve agreed with him so they looked through the file again. They focused on Whitley’s first statement. Chanel showed up at Steve’s place. Steve and John offered their condolences. She told them about Whitley showing up to see her mother. She also told them how Whitley worked on Abe’s campaign and was at Abe and Paulina’s wedding. After Chanel left, Steve and John thought Whitley’s actions were suspicious. Steve went to the hospital to talk to Whitley. Marlena found Brady putting up Rachel’s picture. He didn’t think she was missing. He thought Kristen had her. He wanted to talk to her. Marlena wanted to talk to her. He finally agreed with her.

Lani surprised Kristen at the DiMera mansion. They were happy to see each other and then the conversation switched to Rachel. Lani felt like Kristen knew what happened to Rachel. She tried to talk Kristen into doing the right thing and telling Brady what happened. She thought they could work something out. Marlena showed up after Lani left. Marlena felt like she owed her for helping her when she and EJ needed her help. Kristen said she needed something if she was going to tell her about Rachel. Whitley drugged Abe again when he accused her of not being his wife. He said he remembered the real picture of Paulina. Jerry showed up at Whitley’s place. He felt bad for Abe’s family. She let Jerry know that she planned on leaving town with Abe. She agreed to give him a bonus if he left town too. She left to go to the hospital. Abe’s funeral was over. Lani wanted to stay behind. She needed a moment alone. Paulina and company went back to her place. Jerry was packing his bags when there was a knock on his door. He opened the door and saw Lani standing there. Steve saw Paulina at the hospital and started questioning her. She answered his questions and wanted to find Kayla. He wanted to know why she wanted to talk to Kayla. She said that she was resigning.
