Rafe tried to help Ava, but she thought he was Charlie. She wanted him to leave her alone. He told her he was a cop. He let her know he wasn’t Charlie. She realized that he wasn’t Charlie. Rafe said he wasn’t going to let Charlie hurt anyone. She said he was too late. She said Charlie killed Tripp. She said the blood was all over the floor. Rafe said there wasn’t any blood. She told him Steve buried the body. Rafe said Steve was in Philadelphia. She said Steve got rid of the body. Rafe wanted to call the police. She didn’t want him to leave her. Marlena and Ben went to Hope’s house to look for Claire. Ben wanted to help Marlena find Claire. Marlena didn’t think she should tell him why Claire was in danger until John came home. Ben said he didn’t need to know why she didn’t trust Charlie. He was going to help her find Claire. Marlena noticed Claire’s phone and said she wouldn’t go anywhere without it. She said she had to be at the house. Charlie and Claire were about to make love. Ben asked if Claire might have left it behind. Marlena said she would never leave without it. He wanted to know why she didn’t answer the door. She said Claire usually went to the basement to practice her music. They went to check the basement. Roman wanted to talk to Abe about Allie. Ben said he they could leave, but he wasn’t going to interrupt Claire and Marlena. Marlena told Claire that she shouldn’t see Charlie anymore. Claire wanted to know why. When Marlena wouldn’t tell her the truth, she told her to leave. Marlena told her John and Steve went to investigate whether or not Tripp raped Allie. Claire said his DNA matched. Marlena said there was a chance someone else could have done it. Claire wanted to know what that had to do with Charlie. Kayla tried to take Ava’s blood, but she wouldn’t let her. She said her son already tried to kill her. Kayla said Tripp loved her and would never kill her. Ava said she was talking about her other son. Kayla wanted to know who her other son was. Ava said Charlie. Charlie went to his apartment and saw that Ava was gone. He panicked that she told the police. He thought no one would believe her over him. He said he couldn’t lose Claire and had to fix it. When he was about to leave, Rafe was outside of his apartment.

Ben went to see Marlena. He said she was the only one he could turn to. She wanted to know what was going on. He told her he still saw Ciara. He said she was still with him. Marlena told him Ciara was still with him. He told her he felt better when he was sleep because he was with Ciara. He said he was going through the motions when he was awake. Marlena told him that most people who were grieving were going through the same thing he was going through. She suggested he talk to Claire. John told Steve that Charlie was in Salem. Steve wasn’t convinced that Charlie was the one in Salem. John told him Charlie wore glasses and was clumsy. Steve didn’t think that was enough. John said Charlie was good at math and worked at Titan. Steve still wasn’t sure that he was Charlie. Nicole talked to Rafe about Tripp. Rafe told her Tripp changed. Nicole didn’t care about the changes Tripp made. Rafe brought up that Ava was missing. Nicole thought he would be happy if Ava wasn’t found.

Rafe thought Nicole was trying to say that he wasn’t working hard enough to find Ava. Nicole said she didn’t hear anything from him when she asked him to look for her. He said there wasn’t a lead on Ava. Steve asked John if he thought Charlie was Claire’s new boyfriend. John said they had to go back to Salem to find out. He said if it was true, he didn’t want Charlie near Claire. Allie overheard Tripp saying that someone else raped her. She confronted him about it. He said one of his relatives might have raped her. She didn’t believe him. He asked her if she remembered seeing him hold her down. Nicole apologized to Rafe for accusing him of not doing his job. While they were talking, they talked about Eric and how she talks to him every night. John called Marlena and told her Tripp had a half-brother. He told her he thought Charlie was Tripp’s half-brother. Tripp asked Allie what she remembered. He asked if she remembered his hands, face or voice. He told her she didn’t have to answer. He said he wouldn’t bother her again. He said when John and Steve came home, his lawyer would talk to her lawyer. He apologized and left.

Abby wanted to know what Chad would have done if he knew Gwen was lying. He said he wouldn’t have gotten drunk and stayed at the Salem Inn. Abby asked where Gwen was. Gwen said she was with Chad. Abby asked if she spent the night with her husband. Steve and John confronted Angelo. John asked if he raped his granddaughter. Angelo didn’t know what he was talking about. Angelo told Steve to call off his guard dog. Steve said John’s granddaughter was raped and wanted to know if he did it. Steve said Allie had a baby and it matched his DNA. Angelo said it wasn’t him. Steve said Tripp didn’t do it. Angelo said Tripp’s DNA matching meant he did it. Steve said Tripp didn’t do it. He said a relative did it. John asked Angelo when he was in London. Kayla talked to Marlena about Steve believing Tripp was innocent. While they were talking, Kayla brought up that Ava was missing. Marlena asked if anyone knew she was missing. Kayla said it was as if she vanished. Tripp posted a flyer of Ava up at the Pub. Roman told him he couldn’t do it. He said h didn’t want the flyer up. He said Ava didn’t deserved to be found. He wanted Tripp to go out of town the same way she did. Gwen asked Abby if she was asking her if she slept with Chad. Abby asked if she did. Gwen told her she would tell her the truth, but she wouldn’t like it. Allie showed up while Marlena and Kayla were talking. Kayla left them alone. Allie told Marlena that she was out with Claire and thought about the night she was raped. Marlena asked if something triggered it. Allie said she was with Claire and her boyfriend. Angelo told John and Steve that he wasn’t in London. He wanted to know what happened. Steve told Angelo that Tripp took Allie home and was a gentleman. Roman was upset that Tripp told him Steve and John were working together to prove that he was innocent. He wanted to know how he was supposed to do that. She said he better make it believable or she would tell Abby that he decided to bed her to ring in the New Year.

Chad found Abby with Jake. Chad confronted her about being with Jake. Abby said nothing was going on between them. Chad told her about the room she reserved. She said she didn’t reserve a room. He showed her the receipt with her credit card number on it. Jennifer asked Kate if she was embarrassed to be with Jake. Kate said she wasn’t embarrassed by him. She said she was concerned about herself. Ava wanted to know what Charlie was going to do with her. He said he was going to have her committed. Jack confronted Gwen about the clippings she had. Gwen said she was doing her research on the family. Jennifer wanted to know why Kate was embarrassed by herself. Kate said Jake was younger with her. Jennifer told her she dated younger men before. Kate said that made it worse. Jennifer told her she was Kate Roberts and she shouldn’t care what anyone thought. Jack told Gwen that he and Jennifer were back together. She walked out of the room. Anna talked to Tony about Gwen was targeting Abby’s family. Jack walked in while they were talking. He wanted to know what they were talking about. Anna told him about the clippings Gwen had about Abby and the family. She was convinced Gwen had an agenda against Abby. He realized Gwen was a conniving tramp. Anna thought it was time for her to leave town. Tony felt the DiMeras had to deal with the problem. Jennifer ran into Kate at the town square. Jennifer apologized for the way she treated her. Anna let her know how Gwen was playing her all along. Anna thought Abby should search her room for proof. She wanted to talk to Chad instead of Gwen, but he didn’t answer his phone. Anna thought Gwen was the reason why Chad didn’t answer his phone. She wanted Abby to go with her to check Gwen’s room. They searched Gwen’s room. They found clippings of Abby and her family. Anna wondered why Gwen was stalking her family. Gwen stopped kissing Chad because he was drunk. He said he was fine and wanted to kiss her again. She didn’t want to talk about it or tell anyone about it. He talked about Abby cheating on him with his brother. He thought she would just blame it on the DID. He became suspicious as to whether her illness was real at all. He thought his wife might be a liar who cheated on him. He wanted to know why it was okay for Abby to cheat on him. She let Chad think that Jake wanted her to keep quiet about it. She lied and said she kept it from him because she didn’t want to be the one responsible for breaking up their marriage. Chad was prepared to kill Jake. Jack talked to Kate about Jennifer. She thought it was funny how he gave Jennifer an hour glass, but she said it was a good sign that she took it. Jack didn’t know if she threw it away like she did with their marriage. Jack kept drinking and planned to enjoy himself at the party.

Abby confronted Jake about him sleeping with Kate. She explained all of the proof she had that he was sleeping with her. He finally admitted he was having an affair with Kate. John wanted Steve to accept the fact that the test results proved Tripp raped Allie. Steve let him know he couldn’t do what he wanted so John was about to leave Kayla’s office. Steve stopped him to let him know he might have evidence that proved Tripp didn’t do it. Steve shared his theory with him about Tripp’s relative raping Allie. John thought he needed to stop drinking. He believed the theory was worth checking out. Steve reminded him how they’ve taken cases with less evidence and they still checked it out. John agreed to help him. They talked about the case and Steve thought he knew who the person was who raped Allie. John liked his theory and hoped they would be on the right path to finding Allie’s rapist. Kate and Will talked about Tripp raping Allie. Kate felt he should have been in jail for what he did to Allie. She didn’t want to see him because she was afraid of what she would do to him when she saw him. Tripp walked by them so Will had to hold her back to keep her from going after him. Will told him to stay away from his family. She wanted Tripp to leave Salem. Tripp walked away from them to pass out flyers. He tried to call his mother again. Steve arrived and let him know how he and John were going to try to clear his name. He told Tripp how they had a suspect who they thought was a relative of his.

Claire arrived at Charlie’s place as he put the gag on Ava’s mouth. She called out to him and he panicked when she called him. He wondered how she knew where he lived. He told her how he wasn’t feeling well and didn’t want her to get sick too. She wanted to make sure he was okay. He told her how he needed a few minutes to clean up and put Ava in another room. After he hid Ava, he let her in his place. Claire noticed how sweaty he was and he said he had a fever. She thought he was trying to blow her off. He assured her that he would never do that to her. Claire heard a noise while she was in Charlie’s apartment. Ava ended up knocking something over in the other room. Charlie lied and said it was a pipe. Steve went to Kayla’s office and told her how he wanted to clear Tripp’s name. He told her about his conversation with Allie. He mentioned how she remembered the rape and saw a hand. She didn’t say for a fact it was Tripp’s hand. He asked her if it was possible that someone else broke in her place and attacked her. Kayla told him how the DNA test matched him. He thought someone related to Tripp assaulted Allie. Kayla wasn’t completely sure, but thought it was possible. John showed up at Kayla’s office with his gift. Steve thought he was giving it back. John wanted to have a drink with his friend. Allie went to see Marlena. She told her about her conversation with Sami. She said Sami wished she could hold her. Allie wished she could too. Marlena assured her how she was there for her. Rafe looked at Ava’s file when Nicole showed up at the station. Nicole saw Ava’s file so he told her about Tripp’s theory about that. Abe surprised Lani and Eli by flying Valerie in to see them. Lani had another contraction. She let Kayla know she didn’t feel strong enough to give birth. Kayla joked with her that humans would die off if men were the ones who got pregnant. She encouraged Lani and said she would be able to do it. Eli was with Lani while she was dealing with her contractions. She eventually gave birth to a boy and a girl. Eli and Lani talked about what happened when she gave birth to David. They felt he was watching over them. Tripp let Steve know he was worried about Ava. Steve thought she might have skipped town. Tripp believed there was more to it than just skipping town. He let Steve know how he found Christmas cards and realized Ava sent him cards every year. She wrote how she wanted to be reunited with him. Tripp didn’t think she would have left since she wanted to be with him. Steve wasn’t sure about it, but kept his opinion to himself. Joey went to see Roman. They started talking about Tripp briefly and decided to change the subject. Stephanie called to check on her brother. He talked to her about visiting her soon. Steve arrived to see if he would dress as Santa at the hospital. He turned down the offer. Lucas arrived at the pub with Allie and things between Steve and Lucas were uncomfortable.

Roman had a video call with Sami. He wanted Allie and Lucas to talk to her too. They were having a good conversation when Roman blurted out Henry’s conception. Sami wanted to know what happened. After she talked to Eric, she invited Rafe to eat with her. She hoped things would get better for him with Hope. She assured him that someone was out there who would want him. Doug invited Eli to the house for the tree ornament ceremony. Eli wasn’t in a celebratory mood. Doug demanded he be in the mood. He let him know Lani wouldn’t be there. Eli finally agreed to go to the party. Julie did the same thing with Lani. She invited her to the Horton tree trimming party. She wanted to stay home. Julie told her that Eli wouldn’t be there. She refused to take no for an answer. Ben stared at Ciara’s picture when Claire showed up at his new place. She gave him the ornament from Ciara. The ornament had his name on it. She wanted him to go with her to the Horton house to put the ornament on the tree. He didn’t want to intrude on the family. Claire told him how he wasn’t intruding because he was family. He finally agreed to go with her.

The family gathered at the Horton house. Jack gave Jennifer an hourglass. He wanted to turn back time, but he would wait for her. He refused to give up on them. Lani and Eli were at the house. He said if someone was a threat to her, she would take care of them. She said she wasn’t a threat to him. He said she was going to tell everyone that he was a rapist. She said Tripp wasn’t going to be charged so she didn’t have to say anything. Charlie said she was still thinking about Tripp. He said she only wasn’t going to say anything because Tripp wasn’t in danger. She said that wasn’t true. She told him that they could celebrate Christmas together. He made her think that he wanted to spend Christmas together. He told her that he was too old for that. He left her to watch television by herself. Will apologized to Allie for lying to her. She told him not to do it because no one knew better than her about Sami and her plans. Allie said Sami got what she wanted since she’s raising her baby. Shawn and Belle got married at John and Marlena’s place. Sami called while Marlena was performing the ceremony.

They talked about his problems with Jennifer. She wanted him to fight for Jennifer. Gwen overheard Chad talking to himself about Abby and Jake’s conversation. Chad wanted to know what they meant by not wanting him to be more suspicious than he already was. Gwen asked why he didn’t confront Abby about it. He didn’t want to make things worse. Chad and Gwen continued to talk and he thanked her for her help. She said they were under the mistletoe. While they were standing around, Tony and Anna showed up. Chad was happy to see them. Tony wanted to visit Kristen in prison. When Chad and Tony left, Anna wanted to get to know Gwen.

Rolf went to see Kristen. He gave her a present. It was a picture of her with Stefano and Chad. Rolf wanted her to tell Chad that he had a gift for him too. When Rolf left, Chad and Tony showed up. She was happy to see them. Chad noticed the picture. She said Rolf had one for him too. Lucas and Jennifer talked about what was going on with Allie. They shifted gears and talked about her problems with Jack. He asked her if she was going to work things out with Jack. She said she didn’t think so because Jack was still sleeping with Kate. Lucas didn’t believe they were. Jennifer told him about Julie’s friend seeing Kate check in a hotel with a man whose name started with a J. Lucas said he would ask Kate about it. Jennifer told Julie about her suspicions of Jack and Kate being together. Julie assured her how Jack loved her. She didn’t know what to think because she didn’t know he would sleep with Kate. Jake wanted to go out in public with Kate. She wasn’t ready for that. Kate let her know how Jennifer overheard her making plans with him and thought she was going to be with Jack. She didn’t want to tell her the truth because it’s bad enough Gwen knew the truth. Gwen sent Jake a text pretending to be Abby. Chad walked in the room and she asked him why he assumed Jake was with Abby. He explained what happened. She pretended to care about their relationship and tried to convince him they would work things out. Steve talked to Allie. He let her know that he believed her as well as Tripp. She told him how he couldn’t have it both ways. He wanted to hear her side of the story. She was willing to tell it to prove Tripp was a liar. Charlie couldn’t believe he hit her. Tripp tried to get inside, but Charlie wanted him to go away. Julie called the DiMera mansion and Gwen answered the phone. He told Julie how the guy’s name started with a “J.” Tripp told Steve what happened when he went to Ava’s place. They were headed back to her place. Charlie was happy Ava was still alive. He had to convince her not to say anything. Ava started moaning and scared him. Allie talked to Kate about going through with the lawsuit. She told her how she talked to Steve about it. She said he made her question something. Steve and Tripp went in Ava’s apartment, but she wasn’t there. Charlie had her tied up in his apartment.
