Nikki: Your assistant told me you were covering for sharon.

Nick: Yeah. I’m just checking on a few things and I’m gonna get the staff up to speed, then I’m gonna head out to the ranch and check on sharon and faith.

Nikki: Have you calmed down since you went at it with your father?

Nick: Went at it, mom? Hardly. I’m just sick of dad’s fixation with sally. Not with cameron in town and making all these threats. Right now, sharon’s making sure that faith gets out of town herself and I think it’s breaking sharon’s heart.

Nikki: Honey, you really need to do something about that hand. It could be broken.

Nick: Will you leave me alone about my hand, mom?

[ Nick sighs ]

[ Cameron groans ]

Cameron: It– it’s kind of sweet how protective you are of your ex-wife. A little sad because she no longer wants or loves you, but super sweet.

Nick: You are gonna stay away from sharon and faith, and you will be gone by the morning

Cameron: Or what?

Nick: You don’t wanna find out.

[ Cameron chuckles ]

Abby: Oh, my gosh. Did you see dominic with that little hand drum?

Devon: I did.

[ Abby laughing ] It’s actually starting to sound like music.

Abby: Almost. Yeah. Uh-huh. Uh-huh.

Devon: Did you see that picture that tucker sent earlier of dominic in class waving his little wand around, trying out conducting? It’s the cutest thing in the world.

Abby: So cute. I think we might be a little bit biased though.

Devon: Oh, well. Definitely biased for sure.

Abby: I don’t know, I just, I can’t stop wondering.

Devon: Hm.

Abby: Tucker hasn’t missed a single music class and that is not easy on the eardrums. I mean, is he really just trying to prove to our family that he wants to be a part of all of this? Or is this some sort of angle that he’s using? Look, I know. I know it feels like I’m being negative and I should just be grateful that he’s doting on his grandson, but.

Devon: I know. He’s– he’s tucker and he is not the most trustworthy guy in the world.

Abby: Especially where my mom is concerned.

Devon: Yeah. Well, maybe it’s time that I put my plan into action.

Ashley: Right?

Tucker: Right.

Ashley: Cheers to us.

Tucker: Yes.

Ashley: Hmm. We have to tell abby and devon about our engagement before they hear about it from somebody else, okay?

Tucker: Okay. How about, “hey, abby and devon, we’re engaged. For real this time.”

Ashley: They’re not gonna be happy about it.

Tucker: Who cares?

Ashley: Well, I care. They were very upset when they found out you were moving in with me. Remember that?

[ Phone chiming ] Oh.

Tucker: Ah! Speak of the devil.

Ashley: Wow.

Tucker: Talk about timing.

Ashley: “Society in 30. Early dinner with devon and me. My treat.” Is that what you got?

Tucker: That’s what I got.

Ashley: Oh.

Tucker: That forces the issue, doesn’t it?

Ashley: Yes. Do we accept?

Tucker: What do we have to lose?

Ashley: The timing is interesting though, don’t you think? Is this a coincidence?

Tucker: It could be that they found out about the engagement and wanna stop the wedding. But it’s not up to them, is it?

Ashley: I can’t take any more fighting, honestly. There’s so much on my plate with this jack and diane thing. I can’t take it.

Tucker: Well, okay. What are you gonna do if they do object? You gonna put the wedding on hold indefinitely?

Jack: Hmm. A preemptive promotion, huh?

Diane: Well, you can’t deny that kicking me up the corporate ladder would send a powerful message to ashley and tucker.

Jack: It might also set off world war iii.

Diane: Well, your sister is to blame for that. What? Threatening to oust you from jabot as long as I’m in the picture?

Jack: Have you given any thought to what position might be suitable?

Diane: Well, my number one requirement is I wanna work closely with my fiancé.

Jack: Ooh, I like that.

Diane: Hmm. But since you asked, I understand that our chief talent officer is set to retire at the end of the month.

Jack: Ha! That’s right. Brenda is retiring. Any key hires go through her desk.

Diane: Yes. It’s a key position. And I know that hr has been interviewing possible candidates, but they’ve yet to fill the position. I would like to throw my hat in the ring if you think that–

Jack: You had me at your fiancé. And yeah, the more I think about it, the more that’s a perfect job for you. I can’t think of anyone shrewder at reading people.

Diane: So you’ll recommend me?

Jack: After everything you have been through in the last few months, feeling like you had no future, I want you to dream big. And yes, I can make this happen.

Diane: Good. Hmm.

Summer: Thanks for meeting me.

Daniel: Uh, how bad did it get after kyle saw mom in the hotel room? I mean, I stayed with her for a little while after I was half expecting to hear sirens and have a swat team show up at the door.

Summer: Well, keep listening.

Daniel: Are you saying kyle turned her in?

Summer: He found out that I knew where she was all this time and that I didn’t say anything.

Daniel: Oh, god. Summer, I’m sorry. I didn’t know.

Summer: I don’t know how we come back from this, but honestly, the only thing that I could think about in that moment was saving mom. So she and I did the only thing that we could.

Chance: All right. Hotel security’s gonna pull the surveillance footage for me.

Kyle: Oh, it’s not like they’ll find anything. Phyllis knows all about cameras and how to avoid ’em. It’s not like she was on her own either.

Chance: You know that’s twice now, man. You’ve come pretty close to incriminating your wife. Is there something you wanna tell me?

Kyle: I hate this. That’s what I wanna tell you.

Chance: Yeah, you’re in a, uh, tough spot, man. I get it.

Kyle: Okay. If there was any other way, but the truth has to come out. Summer has known where phyllis was for weeks. I can only assume she helped her escape. If your moderate to severe crohn’s disease

Ashley: Yeah. Then again, knowing abby, if she knew, she would definitely voice her opinion because she’s not shy, if you haven’t noticed.

Tucker: I have. So, you think this is just a coincidence? Just a friendly invitation for the four of us to get together?

Ashley: Maybe. We had a nice time when the four of us ended up at neil’s lounge, right? Wasn’t that kind of okay? Wasn’t it, right? It sounds like fun, maybe, to do this.

Tucker: Hey, and I love fun things, man. I love ’em a lot more than things that aren’t fun.

Ashley: Me too.

Tucker: I know.

Ashley: Okay. Here we go. Oh, “we…”

Tucker: “We–”

Ashley: “…Would be delighted.”

Tucker: “We’d be delighted.” Ugh! That’s brilliant.

Ashley: Mm-hmm.

Tucker: You know, it’s possible they won’t believe a word of it, or at least they’ll be suspicious.

Ashley: Yeah. Or both. Because we did tell them about, you know, the fact that we were considering a fake engagement purely for shock value.

Tucker: Yeah.

Ashley: I think the best thing to do is just be open and honest about both motives, right?

Tucker: Mm-hmm.

Ashley: You know that us being married just strengthens us in case diane becomes a problem at jabot. Although that has to be private information, you can’t tell anybody.

Tucker: Devil’s advocate though. Are we being, uh, unfair to abby by putting her in the middle of all this and making her keep up our pretense with the rest of the family?

Ashley: Honestly, she’s gonna wind up there anyway if diane getting kicked out of jabot becomes an issue with the board. Thankfully, my daughter’s very adept at straddling the fence because she’s both an abbott and a newman. But you know what? Honestly, she’s very much her own person, so she’s not gonna just blindly follow my lead. I guess tonight, we’re gonna find out whether or not I have her support, huh?

Tucker: Yes, we are.

Ashley: Okay. Fingers crossed.

Tucker: Fingers crossed.

Devon: All right. Louise is all settled in with dominic.

Abby: Excellent.

Devon: Yeah. Um, hey, you know that the original plan was just for me to spend one-on-one time with tucker to find out where his head’s at with your mom, right?

Abby: Yeah, but it won’t hurt to have some backup, right? I mean, you shouldn’t have to subject yourself to that all alone.

Devon: No. I mean, it’s not torture to hang out with the guy. He’s got a couple good qualities.

Abby: Okay. If you say so.

Devon: It’s true. The hard part comes when he shows his true colors and then you have to question everything he says or does.

Abby: Yes, that part would be torture, having to second guess everything your father says. But tonight, you won’t have to be doing it alone. I will be there. You will have a second pair of eyes and ears to zero in on tucker. We won’t let him slip anything past us.

Daniel: So mom’s a fugitive again out there racking up more crimes. What the hell is wrong with her?

Summer: She offered to turn herself in to save my marriage, but I told her no.

Daniel: Why would you do that?

Summer: Because she needs more time to figure this out.

Daniel: Summer, that was a mistake. We need to be handling this out in the open, not encouraging her to run and hide from the cops. I mean, it’s just making things worse for all of us.

Summer: I wasn’t about to let her sacrifice her freedom for my– chance.

Daniel: Chance at what?

Chance: I’m done playing games. Where’s phyllis?

Nick: Sorry, mom. I– I don’t mean to snap at you. I’m not upset with you. I’m just frustrated.

Nikki: It’s okay. So, did punching the wall solve anything?

Nick: You know, I think you’ve asked me that like a hundred times since I was six.

Nikki: And I’ll keep asking you that until you give me the right answer.

Nick: I don’t know. I don’t know if punching the wall solved anything, but it may have bought us some time.

Nikki: Is there an update? Is cameron still in town?

Nick: I haven’t heard anything, mom, so I have to assume he is still here.

Nikki: And you will let the police and your father’s security team deal with it, right?

Nick: Yeah. Whatever works.

Nikki: Darling, I understand that you’re worried. You wanna protect your family, but please don’t forget how dangerous it got last time.

Nick: Mom–

Nikki: Cameron kirsten is an animal. He needs to be handled by professionals. If he can hurt you, he will, and he will be trying to do major damage.

Ashley: Right. Yeah.

[ All laughing ]

Abby: Oh, well, um, let me just tell you, the chef has outdone herself this evening. Um, there is a duck and scallop special that is out of this world.

Tucker: A duck and scallop together special. So it’s like a duck stuff– stuffed with scallops?

Abby: Or separately, you know. However you like it.

Tucker: Okay.

Devon: Should we get wine for the table or you guys want cocktails? What do you think?

Tucker: Yes.

Abby: Oh, why limit ourselves?

Devon: That’s why I love you.

Abby: Ooh.

Ashley: Okay. Stop. Anyway, we were both so happy that you invited us now because we have such great news.

Devon: Really?

Ashley: Yeah.

Abby: Mm-hmm.

Ashley: We’re getting married.

[ Tucker chuckling nervously ]

Tucker: Don’t everyone talk at once.

Devon: Yeah. No. I– I don’t know if we believe you, that’s all.

[ Laughing ]

Abby: I mean, is– is this real or is this for–

Tucker: It’s–

Abby: Diane and uncle jack’s benefit?

Tucker: It’s very real. And the wedding is going to happen very soon.

Ashley: Yeah.

Diane: How about to new opportunities?

Jack: How about to our new life together with lots of opportunities?

Diane: Hmm. No matter what ashley says.

[ Both laughing ]

Kyle: Where’s summer? Is she here? I need to talk to her.

Jack: No, I haven’t seen her.

Diane: Neither have I.

Jack: Hey, what’s wrong? What’s going on?

Kyle: I can handle it.

Jack: Kyle! Kyle! You can’t expect us to sit back when you’re this upset. What’s going on?

Diane: Yeah, we’re here for you. What is it?

Kyle: Okay. I wish I didn’t have to tell you this, but I can’t keep it to myself any longer.

Daniel: I have no idea where our mother is.

Chance: You sure about that?

Daniel: You wanna hook me up to a lie detector?

Chance: What about you?

Summer: I don’t know where she is either.

Chance: Okay. Well, I know she’s been laying low at the athletic club. She’s not there anymore. And I bet you’re the one that hustled her outta there. It’s a big mistake, summer.

Summer: Daniel, will you give me and chance some privacy?

Daniel: No. No, I don’t think I wanna do that. We agreed that we were in this together, remember?

Summer: Look, I don’t wanna drag you any deeper into this. Please.

Daniel: Listen to her. Give her a fair shake.

Chance: As long as she’s honest.

Daniel: Call me.

Summer: I really thought you were on my side there for a second.

Chance: No, I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, but now I know you’ve been lying to me this whole time. We had an agreement. You knew that I would be as fair as the law would allow.

Summer: That’s the catch though, right? “As the law would allow.” I don’t regret any of my actions. Stark forced my mom to do everything that she did, but there– there’s no way to prove it because he is dead now. Chance, she’s in an impossible position. How can the law help her now?

Chance: There is always a way.

Summer: How? Tell me.

Summer: Do what you have to do, but I still can’t tell you where my mom is because I don’t know.

Chance: [ Chuckling ] You are playing a dangerous game right now.

Summer: This is not a game to me. You wanna know where she is? Give me a guarantee that she won’t be arrested.

Chance: I can’t do that. Especially now that you’ve admitted you know more than what you’re saying. You’re taking a big risk withholding information like this, I hope you know that.

[ Phone ringing ] Chancellor. Yeah. Thanks. Um, I’m on it.

Summer: Was that about my mom?

Chance: You really expect me to tell you after you’ve given me nothing?

Kyle: Phyllis has been hiding out in a suite at the athletic club.

Diane: What?

Jack: I’m calling the police right now.

Kyle: No, I already did. Chance and I went there. She’s gone.

Diane: How did you know where she was?

Kyle: Summer led me right to her.

Jack: Wait. Summer knew where she was?

Kyle: Has for a while.

Diane: Are you serious?

Jack: She has been lying to us this whole time?

Kyle: She begged me not to tell anybody, but I’m not giving phyllis a free pass. This has to end.

Diane: Yes, it does.

Kyle: Summer has been betraying all of us for weeks. Summer not only knew phyllis was alive, she’s known where she was long before any of us found out.

[ Diane scoffing ]

Abby: How are we supposed to know that this is real? Because it– it feels fake. I mean, are we just supposed to take his word for it?

Devon: Yeah. ‘Cause we’ve been through this before too. And you– you know that marriage is a sacred thing, right?

Tucker: Yes. Of course, I know that. And I’m making a lifelong commitment.

Abby: Hmm. Yeah. Well, meanwhile, my mom is just sticking it to diane.

Ashley: Okay. Just hold on a second, abby. All right? As tucker said, there are real, real feelings here.

Abby: Oh, yeah. Like vindictiveness, hatred, irrational fear. Those are all real feelings. But this is really about diane, right?

Tucker: Well, your mother is right to have her suspicions about diane’s motives.

Ashley: Yes, I am. I’m very right. She’s a danger to our family and to our family’s company.

Devon: How is she dangerous? She’s on trial for murder, right?

Tucker: You guys didn’t hear?

Ashley: Oh, boy.

Devon: Hear what?

Abby: Hear what?

[ Tucker laughing ]

Ashley: Phyllis faked her death. She did.

Devon: What?

Ashley: She faked her death and she’s still somewhere, I don’t know, wandering around.

Tucker: No one knows where. And the police have proof that she’s alive and so they’ve dropped the charges against diane.

Ashley: Yeah.

Devon: What are you talking about?

Abby: Wait, are– are you serious right now?

Devon: There’s no way that happened.

Ashley: Yes, it happened. I mean, it’s fantastic that phyllis is alive, obviously, but now, diane is so full of herself. I mean, jack doesn’t think she can do anything wrong, so she’s more of a threat than ever before.

Chance: You don’t hear too well, do you?

Nick: Excuse me?

Chance: Nick, I told you not to take matters into your own hands when it came to kirsten. I thought you knew how important that was.

Nick: What the hell are you talking about?

Chance: Did you go to this guy’s hotel room, nick?

Nick: Yes, chance. I did. To talk to him.

Chance: There wasn’t an altercation?

Nick: What are you getting at?

Chance: Let me spell it out for you, man. Cameron kirsten has filed a complaint. He would like to press charges against you for battery.

Devon: Huh. So, now that diane has been proven innocent, you guys just want torment her?

Ashley: I’m trying to protect my family’s company, devon.

Abby: That’s a terrible reason to plan a wedding.

Tucker: Ashley and I know better than either of you what diane is capable of, so.

Ashley: Exactly. She wormed her way into a job at jabot when nobody wanted to hire her. I know what she’s gonna do next. She’s gonna convince my brother to bring her on somewhere in senior management, and she will use that position to wreak havoc within the company.

Abby: Honestly, mom, what can diane really do with uncle jack and billy in charge?

Devon: Yeah. I mean, she doesn’t really have any business experience, so how would she cover her tracks?

Abby: Unless there’s something that we’re missing?

Ashley: We wanted to share this information with you because obviously we want– we want you to know what’s going on in our lives. Please keep it private. Please. If this becomes an issue with the board, I’m hoping that I can count on your support, abby.

Abby: Support? What’s going before the board?

Ashley: I’m hiring tucker to be a part of our senior management team. And I’m also floating the idea of removing jack as ceo.

[ Abby exhaling ]

Abby: I knew it. I knew you were behind this. You are using my mom all over again.

[ Summer sighing ]

Daniel: Hey, where is our favorite detective?

Summer: I was trying to plead my case with him.

Daniel: Any luck?

Summer: I thought that maybe I was getting somewhere, but then he got this phone call and he shot me a look, and then he just walked off.

Daniel: Did he say what the phone call was about?

Summer: I’m guessing it was a lead about mom and he took off after her.

Daniel: This is exactly what we don’t need. Mom getting scared and skipping town because she’s afraid she’s not gonna be treated fairly.

Summer: Well, it’s probably exactly what happened. Daniel, we might not ever see our mom again.

Daniel: No, do not go there. We are not gonna let that happen.

Nick: Cameron’s a liar and an opportunist.

Chance: And yet you charged into his room and you let him have it. You played right into his hands.

Nick: Let him have what? I showed up. I gave him a piece of my mind and told him he had to leave town.

Chance: You assaulted him, nick.

Nick: You wanna know what happened or not?

Chance: Look, I have to take you in. I have to read you your rights.

Nick: What are you talking about? Sharon and I told you what kind of guy he is. He framed sharon for murdering her ex-boyfriend. He is a psychopath.

Chance: That doesn’t make it okay for you to go beat the hell out of him.

Nick: I didn’t do that. I did not hit him.

Chance: Then what was said? What happened?

Nick: I told him he had to stay away from everyone in my family and that he had to leave town. That’s it. He has done nothing but terrorize sharon and stalk my daughter. He killed her cat. Was i supposed to just let that go?

Chance: You were supposed to let me handle it.

Nick: Well, you didn’t handle it, chance. You should heard him with all this crazy talk. He said he was gonna try and seduce sharon.

Chance: Is that when you hit him?

Nick: Who’s not listening now?

Chance: I know what you said, nick, but I have been told otherwise.

Nick: This is the truth.

Chance: Nick, we have been here before, man. We’ve been here. I gave you the benefit of the doubt when ashland was killed. I can’t do that again.

Nick: I was just making a point, all right? But clearly, he is not leaving town. This is his next desperate move.

Cameron: Detective chancellor.

Chance: Kirsten.

Cameron: Wait. You’re just gonna stand here like chatting with my assailant? Or maybe you wanna arrest him at some point, huh?

Abby: All this talk that you are a changed man was just a pack of lies.

Devon: Yeah, man. Are you– this is– you’re trying to pull a stunt like this? Really?

Abby: How are you not disgusted by this selfish, manipulative man?

Ashley: It’s not easy. However, you’re wrong about him. He’s had nothing to do with my plan for jabot. If anything, he’s tried to talk me out of it on many, many occasions.

Devon: Really?

Abby: Is this you talking or him?

Tucker: She’s telling the truth. I have been pushing her to walk away from jabot and leave it to the abbotts, start something new with me, but if this is what she wants, I’m all in.

Ashley: It’s true. And if anybody’s using anyone, it’s me. Tucker says he loves me. He wants a real marriage. Listen, I wanna protect my family’s company, so don’t blame him, okay? I’m the one that made this call.

Chance: Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.

Nick: Let me look at you. Whoever did that to you, I’d sure like to shake his hand.

Cameron: Like you don’t know who did this to me.

Nick: You’re a liar. I never touched you.

Cameron: You didn’t touch me? Look at my face. Look at his knuckles.

Chance: Okay. All right. Let me see your hands.

[ Nick chuckling ] Yeah, it’s pretty banged up, nick.

Nick: This didn’t happen from punching him.

Chance: How’d it happen?

Nick: Like I said, he was running his mouth, so I hit the wall out of frustration.

Cameron: That’s true. He hit the wall with his first punch, but the next three after that? Look at this. What? Do I need any more proof?

Abby: I, uh, please forgive me. I didn’t realize.

Ashley: You didn’t ask. You just assumed.

Tucker: Well, you can understand why she would jump to the worst possible conclusion with me. I’ve given her lots of reason to doubt me and–

Ashley: That’s true.

Tucker: And my intentions over the years. So if I were in her shoes, I’d do the same. Both of you.

Devon: Well, let me say that I’m sorry I misjudged you as well.

Tucker: No apology necessary.

Abby: Look, I’m happy that you’re not on board with my mom’s whole fixation with diane, but I’m not happy that you’re trying to tempt her away from jabot. That’s her legacy. She earned it.

Ashley: I agree with that. And I’m not planning on going anywhere. And I’m not planning on letting jack hand over the keys to the kingdom to diane. And that’s why I’m very happy I– I’ve got this man’s support.

Kyle: Summer shut me out. She was in so much pain, or so I thought, and I pleaded for her to let me help, but she lied and lied and lied some more. She could not have hurt me more if she had stabbed me in the heart. So tell me, how am I supposed to get past that?

Jack: How long did you wait before you called the police?

Kyle: Until the initial shock wore off. Then I knew what I had to do. I had to tell them, even though summer is now in trouble, all caught up in phyllis’s mess.

Jack: You– you did the right thing. I don’t mean to sound harsh, but she had to know there were consequences. And then she broke your heart. This is inexcusable.

Diane: You’re– you’re right. But try to see this from summer’s point of view. How can we blame her for protecting her mother?

Kyle: After what phyllis has done? After what they’ve both done? How– how can you be so understanding?

Diane: No, I– I understand what summer did. Phyllis, not at all. Think about it. She put her children in a terrible position. Forcing them to lie to people they love.

Kyle: No– no one forced summer to lie to me.

Diane: Phyllis did. She knew that summer would do anything she could to protect her mother. Summer didn’t have a choice. All right, all right, kyle. Kyle, think about it. What if the situation was reversed and you had to choose between phyllis and your own mother? Who would you protect?

The thought of getting screened

Devon: All right. Should, uh, we get round two?

Abby: He means drinks, uh, not fighting.

Tucker: Yeah, I think it’s time we said our goodbyes.

Ashley: Yeah.

Abby: Really?

Tucker: YeaH.

Abby: I mean, ’cause we haven’t even gotten our food yet.

Ashley: I know, but we’ve given you so much to absorb in such a short period of time. A lot of stuff.

Abby: Whose idea was this again? Oh, never mind. That’s right. It was mine.

Devon: Yeah. It did not go the way we thought, did it?

Abby: Those two baffle me.

Devon: Oh, me too.

Abby: I– I don’t know who I’m more worried about. Your dad using my mom or my mom using him.

Diane: I am not condoning what summer did, obviously, but we shouldn’t judge her too harshly. She must have been scared to death.

Jack: You’re holding summer blameless? She could have told us at any time, saved us a world of torment.

Diane: And phyllis could have prevented this whole thing months ago. I guarantee that any torment that we’ve been feeling, summer has suffered twice as much. She’s not the villain here. She’s as much of a victim as any of us. I am trying to empathize with what our daughter-in-law has been going through.

Jack: Well, you are a better person than I am.

Diane: Well, first of all, no, I’m not, but summer must have been overwhelmed by the circumstances. Circumstances that her mother created to save her own skin. If we should blame anyone, it’s phyllis. Kyle, I am so sorry. My– my heart aches for you because you have been badly hurt, but so has your wife at the hands of her own mother and that is really unfair. I– I– I think summer deserves our compassion and our forgiveness.

Kyle: You are… amazing.

Diane: Don’t say that. I’m not. I just know that you and summer have something that is really special and I– I don’t wanna see you toss your marriage aside just because her mother is a destructive narcissist. Kyle, I’m not even sure you realize how valuable and– and unique your relationship is, but I just, I don’t want you to lose someone who truly loves you.

Kyle: I– I just don’t know if I can turn the other cheek. There’s been too many lies and too many days of watching her suffer and blaming myself for not being what she needed. Summer didn’t just choose phyllis over you. She– she chose a lie over our marriage. How am I supposed to get past that?

Daniel: Okay. Okay. Let’s just take a breath here and decide our next move.

Summer: I can’t even think about that right now. I might have just lost my mom and my husband.

Daniel: I can’t do anything for you and kyle, but if we put our heads together, maybe we can figure out a way to help mom.

Summer: Everything that we have tried so far has completely failed.

Daniel: So we try again and we keep trying until we find something that works.

Summer: Daniel, she is facing murder charges and there is absolutely no way to prove that it was self-defense. Unless… what if there was a witness? Somebody that saw everything that went down between her and stark that night. Who– who is willing to corroborate her story that– that it was self-defense?

Daniel: Summer, there are no witnesses. Nobody else was there. You know that.

Summer: Yeah, but the police don’T. We’re the only ones who have actually talked to her. There’s a lot of details that the cops don’t know about and stark isn’t around to refute them.

Daniel: This does not sound very feasible.

Summer: Just listen to me. What if– what if– what if there was someone who was willing to come forward for the right price? Who– who is willing to swear that they saw everything?

Chance: Nick, you admitted that you went to the guy’s hotel room. You exchanged words. Your hand is beaten up. His face is beaten up. I have to take you in, man. I’m sorry.

Nick: Fine. I’ll go to the station when I’m ready. I’m gonna go to the ranch first and make sure that sharon and faith are safe.

Chance: No, I will make sure they’re safe, okay? I have to take you, man. Once you go through booking, make sure you call victor, get him on the phone.

Cameron: Sounds like somebody’s getting special treatment ’cause they got a special last name.

Chance: Shut up. Come oN. Come on. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to hire a lawyer and have one present with you while you are being questioned. If you cannot afford one, one will be appointed to you. Come on, come on, come on.

Nick: I’m sorry that I’ve been out of touch, but I can explain.

Sally: Oh, I hope you don’t think we have to be joined at the hip. But what’s going on?

Nick: I had my hands full of something that’s not nearly as fun as being here with you. But I’m here now, and I want to hear everything. How’s baby girl? Is she still doing somersaults in there?

Sally: Actually, things could be better.

[ Footsteps approaching ]

Faith: I thought I smelled you baking something. What’s going on?

Sharon: I’m cleaning and baking.

Faith: To distract yourself from current events?

Sharon: It had to be done. Now is as good a time as any. Are you in the mood for some cookies or some croquet? How are your roommates doing?

Faith: Completely freaked out for me. Sad for borgnine. He didn’t deserve that. And they’re worried about you.

Sharon: Me? Why?

Faith: When the mom who sends the best care packages is in trouble, the ladies at five west give a damn.

Sharon: Are you worried?

Faith: I mean, it does kind of feel like we’re living in a horror movie. Dead cat and a stalker? Just don’t go in the basement.

Sharon: That’s not going to happen, okay? We’re going to sort this out.

[ Slamming on door ]

Faith: What the– mom.

Sharon: Are you expecting anyone?

Faith: You?

Sharon: No.

[ Lock rattling ]

Summer: Thank you for meeting me.

Chance: Yeah, I had a few minutes. I’m assuming this is about phyllis?

Summer: Have you heard anything yet?

Chance: Summer, you’ll be the third or fourth person to know.

Summer: What would it take to call off the all-points bulletin?

Chance: Already told you. Bring her in.

Summer: Treating her like she’s a threat to public safety, it’s giving the wrong–

Chance: Look, she killed a man, summer.

Summer: Not by choice. It was kill or be killed.

Chance: All right, well, we need to hear the full story from her. Now, if that’s all you have to talk about, I got a lot of stuff to do.

Summer: No, wait. I– I’m just– I’m trying to picture it in my head so that I can manage my expectations.

Chance: For what?

Summer: My mom’s return. I mean, I didn’t think that it was possible for so long.

Chance: Yeah. You, uh– you got lucky.

Summer: I got lucky?

[ Chuckles ] You want to know how I got so lucky? Especially, considering the fact that stark could have killed my mom and nobody would have looked for her because he’d already faked her death? I got lucky because my mom was smart enough to save herself. I’m just saying that a woman like that who can do that, who can save herself when no one else is going to, that woman, she doesn’t deserve to come home to a prison cell.

Phyllis: You have to call me back, supergirl. Even if it’s bad news, please call me back.

[ Sighs ] Because now that kyle knows where I am… oh. My future is in kyle’s hands.

Diane: I meant what I said. For every aspect of planning a wedding, there are too many choices. I give up.

Jack: So, you’re okay with exchanging vows in a cow pasture?

Diane: [ Laughs ] With goats and hens as our guests? I don’t know. They might be better behaved than some.

Kyle: Wedding planning? I’m going to get as far away from here as possible.

Jack: Seems like only yesterday that you were planning your own vow renewal ceremony.

Diane: Ah, I loved that setting. It was so romantic, until tucker landed a helicopter in the backyard. Oh, we wanted to ask harrison to be our ring bearer.

Kyle: I’m sure he would love that, but he was our ring bearer.

Jack: Is that a problem?

Kyle: Dad, if I were you, I would do the exact opposite of what summer and I did. I think our vow renewal ceremony was bad luck. Everything was going along just fine, and then…

Diane: Kyle, you know that parents can’t be happy unless their children are. Even an adult child.

[ Sighs ] This is all because of phyllis, who is out there somewhere. Am I wrong?

Kyle: Yeah, I’d better go.

Jack: Hey, you want some company?

Kyle: Yeah, I’m just gonna go to work. I have to solve a few problems there.

Diane: Kyle. We love you.

[ Door shuts closed ]

[ Lock rattling ]

Mariah: Knock, knock. Is anybody home? Guess who forgot their key.

[ Sharon sighs in relief ]

Sharon: Mariah.

Mariah: Hey! I’m so, so sorry. I forgot my key at home and I didn’t think that I would be interrupting a croquet match?

Sharon: Um, I was just cleaning out a closet.

Mariah: Mom, if you were really that scared, you should have called the police.

Faith: Next time, say something sooner, so we don’t have to panic.

Mariah: I’m sorry–

Faith: You know that cameron is still out there.

Mariah: I know, I know. I– I wasn’t thinking.

Sharon: This just has us all on edge, which is why I want to apologize for what I’m about to say.

Faith: What?

Sharon: Faith, I think it’s time you leave.

Nick: I’m so sorry I wasn’t here.

Sally: You have a life.

Nick: You’re a big part of that life.

Sally: And I want to hear all about it.

Nick: It’s not a contest. Ladies first. What’s going on?

Sally: Don’t be alarmed. Doctor says we are not in the danger zone yet.

Nick: Already not liking this conversation.

Sally: What exactly do you know about pre-eclampsia?

Nick: Unfortunately, a lot. I’ve been down this road. Elevated blood pressure in pregnancies can lead to complications.

Sally: Yeah, well, um, I don’t have it… yet. And as long as I keep my blood pressure down, and maybe, get, I don’t know, approved for some prenatal yoga classes, then…

Nick: You sure you’re okay?

Sally: Yeah. Yeah, and I’m gonna keep it that way, you know? Very, very peaceful. Very calm. If I could just meditate this headache away.

Nick: Did you tell your doctor about that?

Sally: Yes, yeah. They said it could be from my medication, so I’m just going to grit my teeth and bear it.

Nick: You’re just gonna tough it out.

Sally: For now, yeah.

Nick: What can I do? What do you need from me?

Sally: Just you being here makes me feel better. I’ve told you this before, but you’re like magic.

Nick: I wish that trick worked in every other part of my life.

Sally: What fire were you putting out whenever I was trying to track you down?

Nick: Trying to figure out what will stress you more. Knowing or not knowing.

Sally: [ Sighs ] Okay. Cards on the table. All of ’em.

Nick: Okay. Several years ago, sharon and i put away a very bad man, but now he’s back and he is dangerous. (Tap, tap)

Faith: You want me to leave? I can’t abandon you. That’s against family policy. Tell her, mariah.

Mariah: You’re going to have to give me the updated terms, ’cause I don’t really know what rule she’s breaking.

Faith: Times get tough, we stick together.

Sharon: If anything happened to you, do you think I’d be able to forgive myself?

Faith: But I can protect myself.

Sharon: He knows who you are, where to find you. He knows how much you mean to me.

Mariah: You’re her achilles heel.

Sharon: He knows that I would do anything for you and he is evil enough to use that against me.

Mariah: And as a newly minted member of the mom club, mom’s gonna be a lot stronger knowing that you’re safe.

Faith: But– no. Don’t you see?

Sharon: I’ll be fine.

Faith: You won’t because you’ll be alone.

Sharon: What are you talking about?

Faith: If I leave, who is going to protect you? How the heck did he get past security? And what if it happens again? We don’t have rey anymore, mom. Mariah’s busy with the baby. Who’s gonna be here to play croquet? Or hold your hand when you’re scared, huh?

Sharon: I will be fine.

Faith: You always say that.

Sharon: That’s because it’s always true. Besides, I have nick, your grandparents, and the security team here is actually quite top tier.

Faith: But he got past them anyways, which means cameron is really that dangerous.

Sharon: I love that you want to protect me, but that’s not your job.

Mariah: Sorry, kid.

Sharon: I want you someplace safe, okay? So I don’t have to worry about you.

Faith: You can’t just push me away like that. This is so not fair.

Sharon: Faith, do this for me.

Faith: I will go, but I’m not happy about it. When I text, I want answers immediately, or I’m calling emergency numbers and I’m on the next plane back.

Sharon: Well, thanks for the warning.

Faith: And the second that psycho is back behind bars, I’m coming home. I mean it.

Sharon: Yeah.

Summer: It was self-defense. He coerced her into doing everything she did. I mean– chance, you know my mom, she’s not a criminal. She was doing what she had to do to survive.

Chance: Like I said, it would help to hear all of this from phyllis.

Summer: Why don’t you interview nate hastings and elena dawson? I mean, they were there. They were at the gala, they examined my mom, and they said, in their medical opinions, she was in distress. I mean, that’s gotta mean something, right?

Chance: Just gonna help explain some things–

Summer: He drugged her! He gave something to her that affected her physically and mentally. I mean, how else would he have gotten her to go along with this scheme?

Chance: You don’t know that for a fact.

Summer: But it’s possible. Shadow of a doubt, it could help strengthen her case.

Chance: Look, the only thing that we found in her system was the poison, that’s it.

Summer: Well, did they check for an agent that could have affected her brain? Did they check for that?

Chance: Summer, there is no evidence to back up phyllis’ side of the story, none.

[ Summer sighs ] We don’t even have her word, all we have is hearsay.

Summer: Chance, she’s been through enough, I just want her to be able to come home.

Chance: You do know that any actions you take could result in you being treated as an accessory?

Summer: I don’t scare easily anymore. The only thing that really scares me is the idea of losing my mom forever because I’ve been through that once, and that was enough.

Chance: Look, summer, in the eyes of the law–

Summer: Oh, you mean, in the eyes of christine. ‘Cause she’s the problem, right? She’s got a vendetta against my mom.

Chance: This case has nothing to do with personal grievances.

Summer: Are you new here?

[ Chance chuckles ]

Chance: Okay, so you don’t think she can be fair?

Summer: I think that christine has the opportunity to publicly humiliate my mom. Sure, justice might be blind, but our enemies don’t forget. And that’s when you’re– you’re supposed to be able to turn to your friends, and I– chance, I’m just asking you is there anything that you can do?

[ Chance sighs ]

Nick: So, I gave the guy a very strongly-worded suggestion that he leave town immediately. We will see how brave he is.

Sally: Did this suggestion have anything to do with your knuckles?

[ Nick sighs ]

Nick: Nobody got hurt. And I can take care of myself. Right now, I’m more concerned about you. Are those tears in your eyes?

Sally: It’s just the cat. And your hand. Gosh, this is the saddest thing I’ve ever heard.

Nick: I probably shouldn’t have brought up the cat.

Sally: I mean, who does that? Seriously, the poor thing was so defenseless, I– god, what a monster.

Nick: The cat was just a message letting us know that he can get to us whenever he wants.

Sally: Well, that guy better hope that I never see him.

Nick: Listen to me, sally. If you do see him, you run. You call the police, okay? You don’t talk to him, you don’t even catch him looking at you.

Sally: Okay, well, what does he look like?

[ Sally sighs ]

Nick: Here.

Sally: Oh, my god. I know him.

Nick: You recognize him? You saw him? Where?

Sally: In the park. I met him. Oh, my god.

Nick: I need you to tell me everything cameron said or did. Did he say or do anything that made you feel threatened?

Sally: No. He couldn’t have been nicer. You’re the one that’s scaring me.

Nick: I’m sorry. It’s just, if you knew this guy the way I do–

Sally: He was like, two feet away from me.

Nick: This face?

Sally: Yes. Absolutely.

Nick: Tell me everything.

Sally: Okay, well, I was walking through the park when I got dizzy, double vision.

Nick: Right.

Sally: And then, a man, this man, just came up to me–

Nick: Son of a bitch!

Sally: And he asked me if I was okay, and I– I told him that I had someone else to call.

Nick: Then you called me?

Sally: Yeah, and then, he stayed with me until help came.

Nick: That guy?

Sally: Yeah. He was nice.

Nick: He’s not nice, sally. He’s not. All right, cameron kirsten is dangerous as hell.

Sally: Okay, well, he couldn’t possibly know that you and I are together.

Nick: He is thorough. He is making his way into sharon’s inner circle. I mean, he showed himself to you and to faith.

Sally: Okay, okay, but there’s no way that this guy could’ve staged to be my knight in shining armor. I mean, he was in the right place at the right time. It was a coincidence. It wasn’t some targeted strike.

Nick: How can you be sure of that?

Sally: First of all, no one could have possibly known that I was gonna get dizzy. Not even me. And I have also staged a few accidental meet and greets in the past, I know what it looks like, I know what it takes. This was not choreographed. He had no idea who I was.

Nick: Well, we need to make sure it stays that way.

Diane: Here you go.

Jack: Thank you. Kyle’s right, you know.

Diane: About the curse of vow renewals?

Jack: No, we need to get back to the business of planning our wedding.

Diane: [ Sighs ] Did you get the feeling that there’s more going on with him than he’s telling us?

Jack: Kyle is a grown man entitled to keep the details of his marriage to himself.

Diane: Yes, but how can we help him if don’t know what the problem is?

Jack: By staying out of it.

[ Si

Diane: This is all phyllis’ fault.

Jack: Look, all we can do is be here for kyle when he needs us. In the meantime, we have other problems brewing.

[ Twig snaps ]

Mariah: I kickbox and I know how to use my pepper spray.

Kyle: At the same time? I’m scared.

Mariah: Oh, kyle.

[ Laughs ] It’s you.

Kyle: What was that warning for? Everything all right?

Mariah: No, it wasn’t– it wasn’t a warning, it was– listing my special skills. You know, like you do at the end of a resume. I juggle, I waterski, I speak french.

Kyle: None of which is true.

Mariah: Like you don’t lie on your resume, kyle?

Kyle: Oh, in terms of special skills, I got you beat. I know how to marry the woman of my dreams and turn her into the invisible woman with a heart of stone.

[ Mariah laughs ]

Mariah: I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry, I don’t mean to laugh, it’s just– you look awful. Like you’ve been sleeping on the wrong side of the bed.

Kyle: God, that’s odd, ’cause I’ve had the whole bed to myself.

Mariah: I– what can I say? Grief is– is rough.

Kyle: It’s true. But summer stopped grieving a long time ago.

Mariah: Kyle, it’s been three months. Her mother just died.

Kyle: Mariah, can you keep a secret?

Mariah: Why would you ask me that? You know I can’t keep a secret.

Kyle: Well, you have to keep this one.

Mariah: Um, okay. Yes, I can do that for you. So, what’s happening?

Kyle: It feels like everything’s happening. And what I do next will change the course of my and summer’s lives.

[ Door clicks open ]

Phyllis: Hi. Oh, gosh. I’ve been texting you like a crazy person.

Summer: Well, I have been busy.

Phyllis: I should think so after kyle showing up here.

Summer: I have bad news.

Phyllis: All right. How bad?

Summer: Everything is about to hit the fan.

Phyllis: Everything everything? Okay. You told kyle the whole truth, didn’t you? ( )

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue. And we’re done.

Sally: You look like you need to go.

Nick: I really do. I have to check on sharon and faith. If I leave you here alone, will you be okay?

Sally: Um, yes. Yeah, yeah. I will be extra careful and I already have the voice assistant programmed on my phone. All I have to do is– hold on, watch this. Call nick.

[ Phone ringing ]

Nick: I mean, extra points for ingenuity. I’m not kidding. If you see this man again, you treat him like he is poison, okay?

Sally: Okay. But the same goes for you. Please don’t get into any more fist fights. Even if it is just an innocent wall.

Nick: I’ve called in backup. The right people are on alert. My dad’s security team, gcpd, they’re on this. Cameron kirsten’s time is up.

Kyle: So that’s what’s been going on. What do you think I should do?

Mariah: No, you– you can’t ask me to do that.

Kyle: You’re still my best friend.

Mariah: And as such, I’m obligated to tell you the truth.

Kyle: That’s what I want.

Mariah: No, I– I don’t think that’s actually what you want because if I tell you the truth, it could put our friendship at risk and I– I just can’t risk that.

Kyle: What could you possibly say that would ruin–

Mariah: I have tried very hard because you love her to see the good in summer and accept her. That’s what friends do. But friends also speak up when they see trouble. I don’t trust summer. I never have. I don’t know if I ever will. There. I said it. I’m sorry.

Kyle: You should have seen us in italy. We were so happy.

Mariah: But now you’re here in her natural habitat where she’s surrounded by people who encourage and normalize her bad behavior. I know that you love her, I do, and love is amazing, but the truth is, she chose her mother over you, kyle. She knew phyllis was alive and let your mother get blamed for phyllis’ murder. I– I mean, to me, that is reprehensible. And if you hate me for saying all of this, then you know what? So be it. I love you enough to risk losing you by telling you what’s in my heart. Which is more than I can say for your wife.

Summer: We left here, we went home, he started piecing everything together and I– I had to come clean. I didn’t have a choice.

Phyllis: Okay. Full disclosure, right? Okay. How’heak

Summer: It was horrible. And the insults that he was hurling at me, I mean…

Phyllis: Oh, summer, I’m so sorry–

Summer: No.

Phyllis: I’m so heartbroken over this. I’m so sorry.

Summer: He’s right though. He’s right about all of it. I mean, I– I chose you over everyone. I chose you over his mom and over him.

[ Scoffs ]

Phyllis: I’m sick about this. I really am.

[ Summer sighs ] I want to fix it. I’m sorry. Um, this is all my fault.

Summer: Yeah, it absolutely is, but you know what? We actually don’t have time for that right now because we need to go.

Phyllis: Why? What’s wrong?

Summer: Kyle is furious, mom. You’re no longer safe here. We need to leave.

Diane: I can’t believe a woman as brilliant and confident as ashley is rushing to marry that conman, tucker. And you really think it’s all part of a scheme to take over jabot?

Jack: All signs seem to point that way.

Diane: Well, should i look for another job to try and avoid a family war?

Jack: You aren’t going anywhere. Billy and I are working on figuring this out.

Diane: Well, I’m sure tucker is using ashley’s unfounded fears about her place in the company to provoke her. You know, maybe this was part of his plan all along when he wanted me to gather info about jabot. Maybe it’s part of his long game, something he’s been planning for months or years even?

Jack: Billy and i still don’t know who’s behind this, right now is how do we stop them?

Nick: Hey. I heard you had an eventful few hours?

Adam: [ Sighs ] Uh, yeah. That little girl is keeping me on my toes. Since I can’t watch her 24 hours a day yet, I bought this from the pharmacy. It’s a blood pressure monitor. Doctor said sally might not even need it, but I figured better safe.

Nick: Yeah, it’s good thinking.

Adam: Well, my girl deserves the best. Uh, when I said my girl, I meant the baby.

Nick: Yeah, I know who you were talking about.

Adam: You think I overstepped?

Nick: No, I think that’ll make sally feel better, so it’s smart.

>>Dam: Sure. Sure.

Nick: Hey, before you go, I have a favor to ask.

Adam: Okay.

Nick: I need you to look out for sally for me. I used to pre-rinse dishes cause my old detergent

Mariah: Summer chose her mother over you, okay? And the way that they’re always so busy, it’s like they’re– they’re plotting or scheming and that’s amazing. When that energy is– is focused towards merchandising and marketing, but it is awful when it’s towards friends and family.

Kyle: I’ve known summer for so long. I thought I knew what she was capable of.

Mariah: Summer is her mother’s daughter.

Kyle: That’s easy to say, but you don’t know her like I–

Mariah: I know you and we wouldn’t be sitting here having this conversation if she didn’t break your heart past healing. Kyle, summer has changed you in the following ways–

Kyle: Oh, stop it.

Mariah: No. You need an intervention. Summer is– is going to be summer, but if you’re okay with the lying and the manipulation and always being put in second for the rest of your life then I… I’m going to have to figure out a way not to be friends with you.

Kyle: What? You can’t do that. I– are you serious?

Kyle: You think I want that for harrison? Full time chaos?

Mariah: You’re choosing it.

Kyle: She’s his mother.

Mariah: Okay. I’m very new at this whole parenting thing, so grain of salt, but at its most basic level, we are supposed to protect our kids, right? Keep them out of harm’s way.

Kyle: Of course.

Mariah: So, if phyllis and summer can do what they did to you and your mother and pretty much everyone else in town, they’re dangerous.

Kyle: What am i supposed to do, mariah?

Mariah: You know what, kyle. And I am so, so sorry.

Adam: What the hell is cameron even doing here? Hey, if he’s looking to cause trouble for anybody, you may need to do something–

Nick: If sharon told you about this guy, I’m sure she said that making smart decisions is not his strong suit.

Adam: I don’t even understand why they would let this guy on the street, so he can continue to torment sharon and hurt other people?

Nick: We are dealing with it, but until he’s out of town and no longer a threat–

Adam: I will look after sally and the baby. No problem.

Nick: I appreciate it. Thank you. And keep me posted if there are any problems.

Adam: Well, what is a problem is that you have now brought this chaos to sally’s door because it’s the last thing that she needs right now.

Nick: He is attacking the margins of sharon’s life, all right? From what I know, he doesn’t know who sally is or how she’s connected to me.

Adam: Yeah, and yet you are asking me to look out for her after you warned me to stay away. So that means you are worried and not just about the pregnancy, you’re worried about this freak.

Nick: We don’t even know if sally figures into his plans, but there’s no harm in being extra careful, right?

Adam: You know what I find telling, nick? Is during this time of crisis, two women in your life need attention and care and which one you’re choosing to focus on.

Nick: You gonna look after sally or not?

Adam: I already told you that I would.

Nick: Then, we’re done here.

Adam: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: Did kyle use those words? Did he say he was going to the police?

Summer: No.

Phyllis: No? Okay then. Good.

Summer: I haven’t talked to him since our fight though. There’s no reason he wouldn’t go to the police.

Phyllis: Except because he loves you.

Summer: How do i sneak you out of here?

Phyllis: Um, I don’t know. What does it look like on the outside? I mean, what are my chances of getting caught?

Summer: I talked to chance–

Phyllis: You talked to chance?

Summer: It’s not good, mom.

Phyllis: You talked to chance? Wow. Really? You talked to chance? And you’re getting tips from the police about your fugitive mom?

Summer: I was taking countermeasures, yes.

Phyllis: Okay, well, that’s smart. Devious too. I don’t know whether to be proud or cry, quite honestly.

Summer: Mom, are you ready to run?

Phyllis: What if I’m not?

Summer: How can you not be ready?

Phyllis: I’ve been hoping for the best all this time. Maybe I should prepare for the worst, summer. Maybe I should put an end to this and let chance arrest me.

Kyle: Hey, chance. You got a minute?

Chance: Actually, I don’T. I came to tell you exactly what I told your wife. There have been zero credible sightings of phyllis.

Kyle: Until now.

Chance: Who has seen her now?

Kyle: I have.

Chance: You know where she is?

Kyle: Follow me. And we’re done.

Summer: Grab your stuff, put on a wig, you’re not turning yourself in.

Phyllis: Okay, summer, hear me out. Just hear me out, okay? I call chance and I tell him where I am. And I’ll say, I wanted to keep on running but you fought me every step of the way.

Summer: That’s not what I want.

Phyllis: No, but everybody wins. Don’t you see that? Everyone. I mean, chance arrests a big fish, he gets a promotion, he gets accommodation. Kyle’s parents see you as the perfect daughter-in-law who sacrificed everything.

Summer: No, no.

Phyllis: It’s the only way out.

Summer: Mom, we have not struggled to keep you out of prison for this long just to give up now.

Phyllis: I want to give you your life back. You deserve to have your life back. A life that you love so much.

[ Sighs ]

Summer: You would really do that for me?

Phyllis: I’d do anything for you. Anything. Let’s do this.

Jack: This family has been through enough. If there is any way to cut off ashley’s coup attempt before it happens, I want to know about it.

Diane: And her biggest fear is that I’ll have a more powerful role at jabot.

Jack: Seems to be.

[ Diane sighs ]

Diane: Then, why don’t we scare the hell out of her? Promote me. Think about it. This way, we’d show them that the playing field is level and we are ready for battle. She doesn’t have the numbers or the support. She needs to know now before things get heated that we are ready to fight. We want peace, but we’re prepared for war.

Sally: What is that?

Adam: I– uh, I was walking through the pharmacy and I saw a blood pressure cuff.

Sally: And you thought of me? That is so depressing.

Adam: Well, I– I hope that you never need it. Too. Thank you.

Adam: If the next few months are as uneventful as I predict, just donate it to a worthy cause.

Sally: I will do that. It’s the worst gift ever, by the way.

Adam: Well, you’re gonna have to get used to putting on a lot of fake smiles for all the boring gifts from now on ’cause the baby will get all the good ones.

Sally: As it should be. Shouldn’t you be somewhere doing something?

Adam: The truth?

Sally: It’s always a good option.

Adam: I’m exactly where I need to be.

Sally: Hm. Did someone suggest you keep a watchful eye?

Adam: If nick and i are working together, you know it’s for a special cause.

Nick: You okay? Is it faith?

Sharon: Yeah. She’s leaving. I’m sending her away.

Nick: That’s smart. Just until we get this guy back in prison.

Sharon: I know, but–

Nick: You hate it that he’s got any power over you and you’re gonna miss your daughter like crazy. Or maybe this is dragging up some bad memories that you haven’t fully dealt with yet?

Sharon: I’m sorry.

Nick: No, sharon, don’T. Don’t apologize. I know where cameron is. I tracked him down. He’s at the athletic club.

Sharon: What happened?

Nick: I just, uh, let him know that we’re watching him and what will happen if he tries anything else.

Sharon: Do you think you got through to him?

Nick: I hope so. But I’m glad faith is taking off. Just in case this dirtbag tries to press his luck.

[ Banging on door ]

Chance: Gcpd, open up.

[ Knocking on door ] Phyllis, police. Phyllis? Are you sure–

Kyle: She was here.

Chance: Well, another dead end.

Kyle: No. Somebody tipped her off and helped her take off in a hurry. My wife. If you find summer, you’ll find phyllis.

Nate: Is it wrong that I get excited when our podcast numbers come in? I know you’re not a fan.

Victoria: Actually, I’ve been listening to it on the treadmill. Yeah. Figured if you were so hot on it, then maybe it was something worth checking out.

Nate: Oh, okay. Um, and?

Victoria: And, well, that true crime series that you recommended is intense. I can see why it attracts so many listeners.

Nate: People can’t get enough of it. The ad sales are a major revenue stream.

Victoria: Well, you can’t argue that. Maybe we should reinvest some of that money into the genre and build on a good thing we have here.

Nate: Already on it.

Victoria: Of course you are. What are you smiling about?

Nate: Victor’s inviting me for drinks.

Victoria: Alone?

Nate: Uh, it just says sometime soon. Doesn’t sound pressing. What’s your best guess?

Audra: I think I know. I just saw victor at the athletic club. We were talking about you.

Billy: So then I said, “I quit, I’m out of here. I’m gonna sell my car, buy a motorcycle and hit the road and see where it takes me.” Then, guess what he said to me back?

Chelsea: Uh-huh.

Billy: Yeah? What did he say? What did you think?

Chelsea: What– what were you saying?

Billy: Nothing vaguely interesting, that’s pretty obvious.

Chelsea: I’m sorry.

Billy: It’s all right.

Chelsea: They released the numbers for the soft rollout for my game last week. You know how omegasphere was quietly testing the waters of their products?

Billy: Oh, yeah. I’m very aware. I’m actually playing and I’m doing pretty well. My– my emotional intelligence rating went from needs improvement to vaguely self-aware.

Chelsea: Hm. So, you’re the one who’s playing.

Billy: Oh, come on. Can’t be that bad.

Chelsea: I have the lowest user numbers for my game. It’s a dud.

Billy: It’s not a dud. It just– it takes time to find an audience. It’s gonna be all right. You know, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. How about I take you out for dinner? We can get your mind off of things?

Chelsea: You don’t have to do that.

Billy: It’s not exactly a chore. I’d like to.

Chelsea: Well, it doesn’t mean you should.

Nikki: Hi, darling.

Victor: Hello, sweetheart.

Nikki: Listen.

Victor: There we go.

Nikki: I just checked on sharon and faith and I am beyond upset. That human garbage poisoned faith’s cat and left it on the porch for her to find. She is devastated.

Victor: I’m well aware of it.

Nikki: That man has got to stop terrorizing our family.

Victor: Sweetheart, cameron kirsten will be taken care of.

Nikki: By whom? Because nicholas is not answering his phone and I’m worried he’s going to take matters into his own hand again.

Daniel: I don’t know how much longer I can take this.

Lily: Take what?

Daniel: I can’t say.

Lily: Daniel, how can I help you if I don’t know what’s going on?

Daniel: Things with my mom and my sister are about to explode and I am worried about the fallout.

Nick: Open up, cameron! I know you’re in there.

Cameron: Hi, nick. Took you long enough to find me.

Nick: You wanted to be found? Here I am.

Cameron: Now what? You gonna come in here and you’re gonna teach me a lesson? Boy, you are painfully predictable. We’re done.

Lily: Okay, what is going on with summer and phyllis and why are you worried?

Daniel: I haven’t been completely honest because I don’t want to risk implicating you.

Lily: Okay, this sounds serious.

Daniel: It is.

Lily: I–

[ Phone chiming ] I have a meeting I have to get to, but I’m gonna postpone it because I wanna hear what’s going on.

Daniel: No, no, no. Don’T. I’ve got some place I need to be too. Um… why don’t we meet up later and I’ll tell you everything?

Lily: Are you sure? You just said things are gonna explode.

Daniel: It’s better this way. I’d rather just text you when I’m free.

[ Lily sighing ]

Lily: Okay, I mean, it’s gonna be hard to concentrate on anything else, but I’m here for you, okay?

Billy: Did I do something wrong?

Chelsea: No. No. You have been as sweet and attentive and– and as loving as always.

Billy: Then why don’t you let me take you out for dinner?

Chelsea: Because you’re doing it for the wrong reasons.

Billy: But you do have to eat, don’t you?

Chelsea: It’s not what I mean.

Billy: Okay, well, I guess I don’t follow then.

Chelsea: You’re–

[ Chelsea sighing ] You’re trying to distract me from my worries. Keep me from thinking about what’s bothering me. You wanna save me. You wanna be my hero again.

Billy: I promise you, I will keep my cape at home. Hey, it’s just dinner.

Chelsea: Dr. Malone and I, we’ve been talking about us.

Billy: I thought we got the green light from her on us, you know, as long as we took our time and kept our eyes wide open.

Chelsea: Well, we’ve been talking about how we initially bonded. You saved me, literally. There’s no way around that.

Billy: Is that a bad thing?

Chelsea: No. But maybe, because of that, you feel like you have to keep saving me and I would never want you to feel that way. I’m– I’m doing well. I’m doing great, actually, but if I’m not, I never want you to feel like it’s because of something you did or didn’t do.

Billy: So, I’m not helping? I don’T…

Chelsea: You’ve been amazing, but it’s not your job to fix me. And even there’s a tiny part of you that feels like it is, we have to talk about it and figure out how to handle it.

Victoria: So, you think that you have better insights than I do as to why my father wants to have a drink with nate?

Audra: Oh, not at all. Um, it’s not a competition. I just, uh, thought I had an explanation and it would be valuable to share it.

Victoria: Please do.

Audra: Well, I spoke with victor after you two headed up to the corporate suite at the athletic club. You know, to go over those figures.

Victoria: Yes, I remember.

Audra: Well, victor seemed really interested in your working relationship. You know, he was quizzing me about it, and of course, I went out of my way to sing nate’s praises as a great boss.

Victoria: As well you should.

Audra: Yeah, well, we were talking, you two came downstairs and left together. That’s when he got really interested. You know, I talked up how inspiring the both of you are as leaders, how in sync you are, so I’m sure that’s why he wants to meet with nate. After the glowing report he got from me, I’m sure he wants to congratulate you on earning your employee’s respect. He probably wants to give you a bonus.

Victoria: Wow, you really do know how to read a situation, don’t you? That’s exactly right. That’s exactly the kind of effusive praise and gesture that my father is known for.

Nate: Thanks for putting in a good word.

Audra: Anytime.

[ Nate sighing ]

Nate: That was audra’s not so subtle way of saying victor saw us coming down the stairs and leave the athletic club together.

Victoria: Yeah, no kidding. So, what if he did?

Nate: Well, it does shed a new light on the timing of his drink offer.

Victoria: How so?

Nate: Does victor really want to sit down with the ceo of newman media, or is this a test of the new guy in his daughter’s life?

Victoria: Being tested by my father isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I think that means that he is taking you seriously. In my book, that’s a good sign.

Victor: So, in other words, you’re worried nicholas will go too far with this cameron kirsten slimeball?

Nikki: Yes, I am. He’s done it in the past and I– I know he’s working with chance and our security team to find him, but I also know his history with that maniac.

Victor: Sweetheart.

Nikki: He will do anything to protect sharon and faith.

Victor: A man must do what he feels he has to do to protect his family, that’s all.

Nikki: Yes, but you and i both know what instincts he’s having right now and after what cameron did to that poor cat, if nicholas finds him, he’s gonna lead with his fists–

Victor: Good.

Nikki: Not his head.

Victor: I’ll be there to back him up, if need be.

[ Nikki sighing ]

Nick: You wipe that smug look off your face, you coward. You’re terrorizing a mother and her daughter. You killed an innocent animal. What’s the matter with you? How’d they ever let you out of prison?

Cameron: I don’t know, man. The justice system, it’s a mystery, right? As far as killing innocent animals, I– I got no idea what you’re gassing on about. I’m here for one reason and one reason only, sharon.

Nick: Oh, you’re gonna stay away from her.

Cameron: Hm, not your call. You’re not married anymore. She’s fair game.

Nick: Are you insane? She despises you.

Cameron: I can change that. I think she’s warming up to me already. You’re in my personal space, nick.

Nick: You shut your mouth. Here’s how this is gonna play out. See, I told the police and newman security exactly who you are and what you’re capable of. If you so much as smile at sharon or faith, they’re gonna haul your ass back to prison before you can say “parole violation.”

Cameron: Empty threat. You got no grounds.

Nick: Your track record is grounds enough.

Cameron: I did my time. I’m reformed and I’ve got the parole board’s stamp of approval to prove it.

Nick: Sharon is not the same woman she was all those years ago when you manipulated her. She’s stronger, more confident and fearless now.

Cameron: Just as beautiful as the day I met her. And you are not gonna get between us this time. I promise you that. What are you gonna do? You gonna hit me? Because I got a legal right to defend myself, nick, so you go ahead. You take your best shot. Do it. Do it. Hit me!

Nick: Yeah, next time, it’ll be for real.

[ Cameron laughing ]

Today, my friend you did it, you did it, you did it…

Chelsea: I’ve upset you.

Billy: No, it’s okay. It’s all good.

Chelsea: It’s my fault. We should’ve had this conversation sooner.

Billy: So now we’re having a conversation on how to handle the situation. Let me ask you honestly. Um, do you feel like I have a need to play hero?

Chelsea: It’s not an indictment. I’m not saying you’re doing anything wrong.

Billy: But you’re talking about it with your therapist, so it’s bothering you, right? Or it’s bothering her.

Chelsea: I think you are wonderful and I adore you, but yeah, I think it bothers me a little bit that your instinct, if something’s bothering me, is to distract me.

Billy: It’s not– I mean, do you blame me for wanting to see you smile?

Chelsea: Yeah, but you can’t stop me from ever having an unhappy thought.

Billy: I feel like that’s a very natural thing, you know. I care about you, so I want to see you joyful. I want to see you happy.

Chelsea: Of course, but it’s not realistic to expect that all the time and you have to trust me that if I’m having an unpleasant thought, I can handle it, and if I can’t handle it, I’ll talk to you about it.

Billy: Okay, well, um, I gotta be honest, that does kind of bother me a little bit.

Chelsea: Do you wanna discuss it?

Billy: I do, but, um, look, I’m not dodging. I’m really not. I have to go meet victoria. We gotta talk about the kids, so, uh… can we just pick this up later?

Chelsea: Of course.

Billy: Okay. Bye. Hey.

Daniel: Hey.

Chelsea: Hey.

Daniel: Hey. [ Sighing ] Sorry I’m late. Been a hell of a day already.

Chelsea: I think I know the reason. It’s me, isn’t it. My game is a flop.

Nate: I should be getting back to my office.

Victoria: Well, before you do that, let’s strategize about this drink that you’re gonna be having with my father.

Nate: Well, I was thinking rye, neat.

[ Victoria laughing ]

Victoria: Let’s figure out what it is he wants and what your approach will be.

Nate: I appreciate your offer, but I’ve been through a lot over the years with victor newman. I’m not worried about a little one-on-one time with him.

Victoria: Well, you know, plenty of men would be unnerved by an invite from victor newman.

Nate: I’m not your ordinary guy.

Victoria: No, you are not and it is undeniable sexy how this doesn’t throw you, not even in the least.

Nate: Mm. I’m finding that few things intimidate me lately. It makes the possibilities seem endless. And I have you to thank for that.

Lily: Well, no, I don’t care if the gaming bloggers want stats now, they’ll get them when I saw say so. Okay. Hi.

Billy: Hi.

Lily: Um, I haven’t seen you, since, uh…

Billy: Since our very awkward double date?

Lily: Yes. That was interesting with the kids, too.

Billy: Yeah, that was weird, even by my standards.

[ Lily chuckling ]

Lily: It was fine though, I mean, once we all loosened up.

Billy: Yeah. So, how are you and– and daniel doing?

Lily: Uh… slow and steady. How are you and chelsea?

Billy: Same-ish. Maybe a little bit more wobbly than steady.

Lily: I mean, I don’t want to pry, but is– is everything okay?

Billy: Yeah, everything’s fine. You know, I just spent most of my life waiting for other people to solve my problems and now, I’m swinging in the other direction.

Lily: Right. Fixing problems you haven’t been asked to.

Billy: Problems, situations, people.

Lily: Well, I am happy that you’re thinking about it.

Billy: Yeah, not sure I would have if certain people didn’t bring it to my attention.

Lily: Now, you just gotta find that balance between saving the world and falling apart.

Billy: Seems easy, huh?

[ Lily laughing ]

Lily: One of the hardest balancing acts I know.

Billy: Something to aspire to.

Cameron: You’re gonna wanna to get some ice on that, sport. That’s gonna leave a bruise.

Nick: You’re gonna check out of this hotel and you’ll be gone in the morning.

Cameron: You’re not hearing me, nick. You’re gonna have to drag me out of here in a bag! I got no intention of leaving. I got things to do, women to seduce. And guess what? I’m free to do that. I have broken no law and I haven’t hurt anyone or anything, be it human, feline or inanimate.

Nick: You have been harassing sharon since you got here.

Cameron: Oh, come on, man. I– I’ve seen her once in the coffee shop and you were there for most of it.

Nick: Which is why I know exactly what your intentions are.

Cameron: Hey, you know what? It– it’s kind of sweet how protective you are of your ex-wife. A little sad because she no longer wants or loves you, but super sweet.

Nick: You are going to stay away from sharon and faith and you will be gone by the morning.

Cameron: Or what?

Nick: You don’t want to find out. My a1c was up here; now, it’s down with rybelsus.

Victoria: Well, I would like to continue this discussion, but I have a meeting.

Nate: Oh, anything I should tag along for?

Victoria: Unfortunately, no. It’s personal, it’s not business.

Nate: And here I thought I was both.

Victoria: Aw, you very much are. I won’t be long, I promise. And feel free to use the office. Knowing that you’re waiting for me here will give me an excellent reason to hurry back.

Audra: Well, well. You don’t seem to be wasting any time, are you?

Nate: What do you want, audra?

Audra: Well, just to admire how you operate. The fact that you and victoria ever get any work done is impressive.

Daniel: I promise that my poor mood has nothing to do with your game. It will find its audience, I am not worried. I mean, I’m dealing with some other stuff and its personal, it’s not professional.

Chelsea: Of course. You’re still grieving the loss of your mom. And here I am making it about myself. I’m so sorry for– for projecting my insecurities onto you.

Daniel: Don’t apologize. Look, you just launched your baby out into the world. Of course you’re gonna be feeling vulnerable.

Chelsea: It’s crazy, right? How a game can make you feel so protective? How things like user reports can make you feel so vulnerable and insecure?

Daniel: Mm, I’ve seen the numbers from the soft launch. They’re not through the roof.

Chelsea: Yeah. That’s putting it nicely.

Daniel: Mm-hmm. But we are getting good word of mouth on social media.

Chelsea: You are?

Daniel: We are. Yeah, it’s like our mental health consultant said, people, they are more willing to talk about their emotional struggles online, and it seems like they are seeking guidance outside of traditional avenues. We’re poised to be that.

Chelsea: How can you tell?

Daniel: I was monitoring this discussion thread this morning and people were already pointing to your game as a positive tool for dealing with anxiety.

Chelsea: Really?

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Chelsea: Huh. Is it ironic that I’ve been too anxious to look?

Daniel: I totally get that. Um, besides, you know, people online, they can be vicious, but take a look at this.

Chelsea: “This game has helped me practice how I talk to my mom about how upset it makes me when she yells at me.” Hm.

Daniel: You know what that means?

Chelsea: It means we’re actually helping people.

Daniel: We are actually helping people and that is worth a hell of a lot more than numbers.

Billy: Hi.

Victoria: Hi. Thanks for meeting me.

Billy: Of course. You said this is about the kids. Is everybody okay?

Victoria: Oh, yeah. Everybody’s fine. Um, well, we were talking at breakfast and uh, the kids are both very excited about camp.

Billy: Yeah. I’m trying not to take it personal that they can’t wait to get away from us for a whole summer.

Victoria: Well, you should brace yourself because johnny brought up boarding school.

Billy: And I hope you assured him that we don’t plan on sending him this year.

Victoria: Oh, no, not exactly. He wants to go. At first, I thought he was kidding, but uh, he’s not, and then katie got all excited about the idea, so I told them that I would talk to you about it.

Billy: So, today’s the day I find out that nobody actually needs me anymore.

Victoria: What? Where’s that coming from?

Billy: Don’t worry about it. Um, look, you know how I feel about boarding school.

Victoria: Oh, yeah. You hate it.

Billy: Yeah. My own personal experience wasn’t exactly warm and fuzzy.

Victoria: Well, this is about johnny and katie, billy. It’s not about you.

Billy: You’re right. You’re right. And if this is what they want and we visit often, then I’m not gonna say no.

Victoria: So, is that a yes?

Billy: It’s a reluctant one, but I guess this is, you know, good continuity from last year and it is a great place for both their passions.

Victoria: Yes, yes. That is exactly how I feel. Johnny would be able to continue the coding classes that he loves and our daughter has straight as, so she can spend all of her free time horseback riding.

Billy: And you’ve really thought about this. Where’s all this enthusiasm coming from?

Victoria: Well, it’s what the kids want.

Billy: You sure this doesn’t have anything to do with your budding relationship with nate? When you really need to sleep.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue. Sweet pillows of softness!

Victoria: I hope that you’re not implying that I wanna ship the kids off because it would give me more time to date because you are way too smart to say something so stupid, billy.

Billy: That’s never stopped me before. But you’re right, it’s none of my business.

Victoria: Was that supposed to be an apology?

Billy: Vic, I know that you would never put some guy above our kids and I’m sorry, that was a jerk thing to say.

Victoria: Yes, it was. Where did that come from?

Billy: I don’t know.

[ Billy chuckling ] You know, earlier today, I got chastised for doing something that I thought was the right thing to do and now, I’m taking it out on you.

Victoria: Me seeing nate isn’t gonna be a problem for us, right? Because I’m not sending the kids away, I’m just letting them gO. Those are two very different things. You know, I– I wanna give them the best and if that includes some new school adventure, even though it breaks my heart because I’m not gonna see them every day, I wanna give them that.

Billy: No, you’re right. And it is gonna be hard, but it’s the right thing to do for them.

Victoria: And where did this come from? That nobody needs you anymore? I mean, the kids need both of us, just in different ways.

Billy: Now, I feel really bad because you’re being so nice and I was an ass.

Victoria: Look, holding on to the kids just because it makes us feel better to have them around isn’t gonna do them any good. We have to give them space, and then, we’re their safety net if they ever need us.

Daniel: Chelsea, this game, it was never about zombies or unicorns. It’s about finding real solutions to human problems. That means seeing things from a new perspective. You know, real change? It’s hard. You have to trust, you have to commit, it takes time and it can be scary.

Chelsea: I can attest to that.

Daniel: Yeah. You’re a living, breathing example. I mean, you’ve taken all your pain and all your struggles and you’ve turned it into something positive. Omegasphere.

[ Chelsea laughing ]

Daniel: I hope you’re proud of what you’ve accomplished.

Chelsea: Well, I’m getting there, thanks to you. I mean, you should be proud too, you know. You took a chance on me when not many people would have. You’re a good guy who wants to do good things.

Nick: Your security team’s tip was right. Cameron was at the athletic club. He needs to be watched 24/7.

Victor: How did you know that?

Nick: I went and, uh, confronted him there.

Nikki: Oh, my god. This is exactly what I was worried about.

Victor: Did you touch him?

Nick: No, sir. Not a hair on his head.

Victor: There, you see.

Nikki: Oh, my god. Your knuckles.

Nick: The wall wasn’t so lucky.

Victor: Right cross? Uh-huh. Well then, he got lucky.

Nick: I’m sure I got his attention.

Nikki: Yeah, and maybe a broken hand.

Nick: I’m fine, mom.

[ Phone ringing ]

Nikki: It’s the office. I have to take this. Please promise me you won’t do anything rash until I deal with this.

Victor: Okay, there, sweetheart.

Nick: What happened to that security guard who had his uniform stolen?

Victor: That loser? Stuffed in a closet. Stripped down to his underwear, for heaven’s sake. I fired his ass.

Nick: Good.

[ Phone chiming ]

Victor: Oh. I spoke with nate hastings about having a drink with him. Um… okay.

Nick: So, our family is dealing with a stalker, but you have time to go and socialize with an opportunist?

Victor: You’re saying that whilst being involved with an opportunist?

Nick: What does that mean?

Victor: Sally spectra is a noose drawn around your neck. Don’t you see it? Especially now that she’s pregnant with your brother’s child.

Nick: You have no idea what you’re talking about, all right? Cameron’s a threat to our family right now, but you’re wasting time taking shots at the mother of your next grandkid.

Victor: And cameron kirsten will be dealt with. Sally spectra, from now on, will be part of our lives. Ever wonder why kit kats are so delightfully crispy?

[ Daniel sighing ]

Lily: Hi. Oh, wow.

Daniel: Do you have any idea how much I appreciate you?

Lily: I mean, that hug gave me an idea, but I feel like something else is going on.

Daniel: I met with chelsea, talked about the early response to her game.

Lily: Oh, god. I know. I meant to call her and tell her not to look at downloads or active player numbers and just focus on the good the game is doing.

Daniel: I told her the same thing, but I bet she would appreciate hearing it from you too.

Lily: Yeah. I’ll call her, for sure, but hey, what is going on with phyllis and summer and why have you been keeping it from me?

[ Daniel sighing ]

Daniel: As much as I want to be completely honest with you, telling you compromises both of us, so if you don’t want anything to do with it, I’ll just keep it to myself.

Lily: Hey, whatever it is, it’s okay. You can tell me.

Daniel: My mother is hiding out at a room at the athletic club. Cops could be at her door at any second.

Chelsea: Okay, well, it’s definitely not what I wanted to hear, but thank you for letting me know. Bye.

Billy: What happened?

[ Chelsea sighing ]

Chelsea: That was connor’s teacher. He, apparently, is not raising his hand in class and he’s keeping to himself during free time. She thinks he’s shutting down.

Billy: Mm.

Chelsea: I thought he was pulling himself out of this mood. Apparently, it’s just gotten worse.

Billy: Well, I’m dying to figure out a way to fix this, or at least, distract you from being worried, but I won’T.

Chelsea: Thank you.

Billy: Instead, I will ask you, do you need advice? Reassurance? Or just someone to vent to?

Chelsea: You have given me enough reassurance just by making it clear you trust me to handle this on my own.

Billy: I’m learning. It’s an imperfect process.

Chelsea: Right? We’re doing our best. It’s all we can do. So, I think I’m just gonna talk to connor tonight and try to get through to him and maybe some ice cream will help.

Billy: Now that is a good idea.

Chelsea: Uh-huh. One step at a time, right? One day at a time. Thank you for helping.

Billy: I don’t feel like I did anything.

Chelsea: You listened. And now, let me return the favor. What can I do for you?

Nate: You might want to work on your discretion. You shouldn’t talk about your bosses at the office like that.

Audra: Uh, you and I have an agreement. I didn’t think I needed to pretend like I don’t know what’s going on.

Nate: You don’t, with me, but you might want to back off with being so blatant with victoria.

Audra: Well, I think she enjoys a sparring partner. If she respects me as someone who will speak her mind, I’ll be well positioned to take over when she promotes you.

[ Nate chuckling ]

Nate: I appreciate your positive thinking about my ascendance, as well as your own.

Audra: Like I said, we’re in this together.

Nate: By the way, I used the information you shared about the tech team’s video production capabilities to impress victoria with an idea I had for newman’s real estate division.

Audra: Clever. Making newman media useful to newman enterprises. Oh, and I looked at those upcoming negotiations with our ad buyer you– you mentioned and I was able to work some magic.

Nate: So, our mutual aid club is working.

Audra: Which is why I wanna get back to what I walked in on earlier: Victor’s drink invitation. He’s on to you.

Nate: We’re not concerned.

Audra: Well, he may not mind your relationship, but you don’t want him thinking that, you know, you are slacking on the job and encouraging victoria to do the same.

Nate: Victor doesn’t strike me as a clock watcher. He’s a man about results, not hours behind a desk.

Audra: Hm. If you say so.

Nate: Now, nick newman, on the other hand…

Audra: Yeah, he could definitely be an issue. You know, it’s clear he considers you a threat and that is not a man who will back off easily.

Nick: What is your real issue with sally? Because dad, this goes far beyond the protective father thing.

Victor: It’s very simple. You’re wasting your time and energy. You have other things to worry about.

Nick: Dad, you are the one who is fixated on this pregnant woman who has done nothing to you. You need to be focused on the threat that cameron poses.

Victor: And I am, and I will deal with that bastard, but you forget about sally spectra. You start paying attention to sharon and faith, who really need you. I’m here for the dunkin’ run, campaign, commercial.

Billy: What makes you think that I need something?

Chelsea: I can see the concern in your eyes.

Billy: I guess I’m a little knocked off my game. You know, it’s– it’s bad enough that the kids are gonna be gone at summer camp all– all summer, but… now victoria told me that the kids want to go to boarding school next fall and I’m sad and I’m confused because they don’t need me in the same way anymore.

Chelsea: Billy, that is hard. I’m sorry. And I wish I could fix it for you, but–

Billy: But you won’T.

Chelsea: No, but I will ask you a question that a very wise friend recently asked me. Do you want advice? Reassurance? Or just to vent?

Billy: Definitely the last two, with a double scoop of chocolate chip mint ice cream.

Chelsea: Oh, my treat.

Billy: Mm.

Chelsea: Let’s go talk.

Victoria: Oh, hi. I’m glad you’re still here.

Nate: Then, why do you sound on edge?

[ Victoria sighing ]

Victoria: Well, my meeting was with billy and, um, we almost got into an argument. Well, we worked it out, but he made a jab that kinda got under my skin.

Nate: Why do I suspect it was about me?

Victoria: Well, it wasn’t about you, specifically. It was more the idea of us. I think that what we have is confusing to people. They can’t categorize it, so they– they don’t understand it.

Nate: They’re not wrong.

Victoria: What do you mean by that?

Nate: To some, it might look like we’re just colleagues with benefits.

Victoria: I consider you much more than that.

Nate: So, maybe we make it official. How about I take you on a date? And not another one of our working meetings.

Victoria: Are you serious? Like, cocktails and dinner?

Nate: Maybe even dessert and dancing.

Victoria: All right. You’re on.

Nick: You know, you just don’t understand my relationship with sally. That’s fine. Just keep it to yourself, all right? I’ve had it up to here with your judgment.

Victor: Really?

Nick: Yes, sir. Excuse me. I’ve got a lot to do.

Nikki: What happened?

Victor: Hi, sweetheart. Um… to put it simply, our son is… spread too thin. He has a lot of things to deal with.

Nikki: Well, we both agree on that. I just don’t want his temper to get him into trouble.

Cameron: Jimmy, hey. Got a job for you. This one’s gonna require a face-to-face. Bring your right hook, you’re gonna need it.

Victor: I’ll be the judge of that, really.

Adam: And what is it you wanted to discuss?

Victor: Well, my goodness, if it isn’t jack and billy boy abbott.

Billy: I feel like I’m witnessing a nature documentary here with the two newmans out in the wild. Leader of the pack showing the young upstart how to take over the world.

Adam: You see, this is why I’d rather be at the office ’cause they let guys like him in here.

Jack: How are you two gentlemen doing this glorious morning?

Adam: Well, jack, you are in a good mood given the circumstances.

Jack: Oh, circumstances be damned. Everything’s coming up roses for me. Personal life and professional.

Victor: Ain’t that something? You know, I think you’ve been around your own perfume too much. You seem delirious.

Jack: Oh, how so?

Victor: You let my son go and you put billy boy abbott into his position. And I understand that you are engaged to of all people, diane jenkins.

Jack: I am sorry, victor. Nothing you say can possibly spoil my mood this morning.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

[ Nate sighs ]

Audra: Nate. Uh, come join me. Well, we can have an impromptu strategy session. Or we can go somewhere else, uh, more private if you want.

Nate: Audra, I’m sorry, but, um, I have to get–

Victoria: Oh, hey.

Audra: Oh, uh, I didn’t know you two decided to meet. Anything I can do to help?

Victoria: Uh, thanks, but no. Nate and I, we have a few things that we need to hash out. You know, I just remembered, I left a couple of those files up in the newman executive suite.

Audra: Oh, uh, newman keeps a suite here?

Victoria: Yeah, we have for years.

Nate: Well, um, we might as well just discuss it up there then? I’ll loop you in later if necessary.

Tucker: Don’t you just hate when that happens? You work so hard and then you get dismissed because you just don’t rank high enough for one of those kinds of intimate one-on-one meetings.

Sharon: You would think that you brilliant college kids could come up with a better name for your dorm cat than borgnine. Don’t you think?

[ Faith laughs ]

Faith: But when you see him, he’s totally a borgnine. Definitely not a fluffy or a felix. Where is borgy anyway? He wasn’t upstairs. I thought he was down here.

Sharon: Oh. It’s just an alert about a sale at fenmore’S. It’s nothing about cameron.

Faith: Good. Maybe that jerk finished getting his kicks out of playing his sick little mind games and left.

Sharon: I hope so. But, you know, we need to stay on alert just in case he is still around.

Faith: I was thinking about going out for a little bit. That’s okay, right?

Sharon: Um, I don’t know if that’s such a good idea right now.

Faith: I’m just going to the tack house to see the baby. I– I promise I won’t go off the ranch property.

Sharon: Okay. That should be safe, but stay close and be careful.

Faith: I will.

[ Both screaming ]

Sharon: Faith, what happened? Are you all right?

Faith: Borgnine. He’s not breathing. I think he’s dead.

[ Sharon gasps ]

Sharon: Oh, my god. Faith, get in the house now. All right. I’m gonna call chance. You call your dad now. Now.

Summer: Morning.

[ Kyle sighs ] Did you get some sleep?

Kyle: How could I? Did you?

Summer: Is anyone else here?

Kyle: I sent harrison out with the nanny. Everyone else has left for the day.

Summer: So early.

Kyle: Yeah. Maybe now, you’ll finally come clean and tell me the truth.

Kyle: Last night, I asked you and I wanna know, how long have you known phyllis was alive?

Summer: You know how long I’ve known. You’re the one that told me that daniel saw her. I mean, what– what difference does it make anyway?

Kyle: It makes a big difference and you know it. So just tell me, tell me, when was the first time you saw phyllis?

Summer: Yesterday. Just like you. And, uh, no, I didn’t call you the second I got in there. And maybe– maybe that was a mistake, but I was so overwhelmed seeing my mom and I wasn’t hiding the truth from you.

Kyle: No, you didn’t seem that overwhelmed when I got there.

Summer: That’s because I had been in the room for a second at that point. I had a little bit of time to get used to seeing my mom.

[ Kyle sighs ]

Kyle: You didn’t have that much time. I was following you, summer. I wasn’t that far behind you. I know you didn’t have enough time to react to phyllis being alive. A few minutes at most, that is not enough time to get used to the fact that your mother, who you believed was dead was standing there alive and well in front of you. So just tell me.

Summer: I’ve told you!

Kyle: You have known a lot longer, haven’t you?

Summer: Kyle, come on.

Kyle: Why can’t you just be honest with me?

Summer: I don’t even know why you would think that. I don’T.

Kyle: Okay, I had all night to think back on everything has happened. So many interactions. Little things that just didn’t make sense at the time.

Summer: What are you talking about?

Kyle: The arguments between you and your brother, phrases you used in fights, little glances. Even last night when phyllis said she hid out nearby so she could be close to her kids. That was not the first time she reached out to you.

Summer: I don’t know why she didn’T.

Kyle: Summer, that could not have been the first time you saw your mother. What about yesterday when I found you at the club after you said you were going to work?

Summer: Wait, is that why you started following me around like a criminal?

Kyle: No, that’s not the reason I was following you, but I’m glad I did. All of the times that you ran off without an explanation and lame ones at best, you were going to see phyllis, weren’t you? When were you gonna tell me what you’ve been hiding?

Victor: Jack, I really hope that just because diane is not declared a murderer doesn’t mean that she won’t send your life down to rack and ruin.

Jack: Oh, victor, I am far too happy with diane’s freedom and jabot’s latest profit projections to let you get to me today.

Victor: Well, isn’t that nice?

Billy: And you know me, I’m not one to pat myself on the back, but I will take some credit for the profit margins off the men’s product line. You know the one that you dropped the ball on, adam?

[ Adam laughs ]

Adam: You must be very proud. Grooming products for men. It’s like you’re starting a revolution, billy.

Jack: We are shooting for the moon these days, adam. With billy by my side and diane free and happy, nothing’s stopping us.

Victor: Do me a favor, jack and just keep diane jenkins grubby hands away from my wife’s jewelry. That would be a move in the right direction.

Billy: On that note?

Jack: Yeah.

Adam: Enjoy your breakfast.

Billy: Thank you.

Chance: Okay. You two are good to relax now. I got an officer taking your cat in for examination. Two others searching the property. I would like to ask you a couple questions.

[ Door clicks open ]

Nick: You guys okay?

Faith: I’m fine. Just a little shaken up, that’s all.

Sharon: Yeah, me too, but we’re gonna be fine, okay? We’ll be all right.

Nick: What happened?

Sharon: Faith was on her way to the tack house when she found the cat that she brought home from college just laying on the front doorstep, dead.

Faith: Poor borgnine.

Chance: Do you know how old the cat was or if he had any signs of illness?

Faith: I don’t know his exact age, but he was in good health. I took him to the vet right before I left for break. He had all his shots and a full exam.

Chance: Okay. Well, we’re gonna get our forensics team to examine him, see if we can find out exactly what happened, okay?

Nick: That’s good. But I’m pretty sure I know what those results are gonna say.

Sharon: So do I. There’s no doubt in my mind about what happened, nick. This was cameron’s doing.

Nick: That bastard could still be on the ground somewhere.

Chance: We got that covered. Don’t worry about it.

Nick: I’m gonna go find him myself.

Chance: There’s no need. I got a full team searching the property. Let the professionals handle it.

Nick: Nobody knows this property better than me. I know where to look.

Chance: Nick. Nick!

Today, my friend you did it, you did it, you did it…

Billy: So, what’s up?

Jack: You sound suspicious.

Billy: Well, something’s going on. I can tell by the way you were grandstanding with victor. Not everything is perfect right now, is it?

Jack: We have had our share of triumphs lately, but there has been a recent very troubling development.

Billy: What is that?

Jack: I assume you haven’t spoken with ashley recently?

Billy: No, not lately. Why?

Jack: She made quite an announcement last night at the house.

Billy: Good news? Bad news?

Jack: She and tucker are planning on getting married as soon as possible.

Audra: Just so you know, tucker, I happen to have had private meetings with nate up in my own suite.

Tucker: Hmm. But not the same caliber of meeting that victoria’s getting right about now.

Audra: Our meetings are the kind that I prefer. Strictly business.

Tucker: Is your name audra charles?

Audra: Yes, tucker.

Tucker: ‘Cause I don’t remember any of our meetings being strictly business.

Audra: That was the past.

Tucker: Ah!

Audra: Mm-hmm. I am focused on the bigger prize now. The top spot at newman media.

Tucker: Yeah, but nate. Hmm. Nate. He gets under your skin, don’t he? And it’s just killing you right now how close he’s getting to victoria.

[ Audra sighs ]

Nate: Now, where did you say you put those files?

Victoria: I don’t know. Maybe they’re in the bed under the sheets. Did you look there?

Nate: No, but that looks like a much more comfortable place for files than that hard desk in your office.

Victoria: I think that work can wait. I mean, newman media’s bottom line is doing great these days.

[ Laughs ] Our campaigns are successful. Our bottom line is up. I think that we deserve to take some time off. Celebrate all of our hard work.

Nate: I agree.

Victoria: Yeah.

Nate: Our ratings are up too. Our audiences across all platforms has almost doubled.

Victoria: Really? Tell me more.

Nate: Our demographics are right on target.

Victoria: Right? What does that do to our bottom line?

Nate: The second quarter projections will outperform.

Victoria: Mm-hmm. Year to date or rolling 12 months?

Nate: Uh, it will exceed every quarter in the last three fiscal.

Victoria: Oh, god. Speaking of outperforming.

Adam: Well, leaving jabot was the right move.

Victor: Jack abbott is so full of hot air.

Adam: Yeah, you were right about that all along. There was no way that I was gonna fit in there. God. All those abbotts.

Victor: Very glad you are ready to move on, son.

Adam: Mm-hmm.

Victor: Now, let’s talk about mccall. I have some– some ideas.

Adam: Okay. Wait a minute. Wait, wait, wait. Hold on. Before you go any further, I’m already in the process of making some major moves in the company. I’m planning on shaking up a few things around there.

Kyle: I know you, summer. I can tell you are hiding something from me. I hate to ask you this, but can I see your phone?

Summer: Wait. Are you serious? Kyle, there’s nothing on my phone.

Kyle: Then, you will prove me wrong and I will feel horrible about it. And if that happens, I will apologize profusely. What are these?

Summer: What?

Kyle: All of these texts from a number that’s not in your contacts. “Let’s meet, please.” “Where are you?”

Summer: I– I don’t know. I don’t know that number.

Kyle: “We need to talk.” “Bring bro for fam peace.” All of these messages from the same number. And you replied. These were from phyllis, weren’t they? But it– it sounds like she hadn’t seen daniel. I– how could that be? He told us he’d seen her, that’s how he knew for sure she was alive.

Summer: Kyle, can we please drop this?

Kyle: No, daniel wasn’t the first one she reached out to. He wasn’t the first one who saw her alive. It was you. You were the one she reached out to from the beginning, but– but why? Why? Or because you were the one she knew would lie for her.

Summer: Yeah. [ Sniffling ] She knew that I would help her. That to protect her I would look you in your eyes and lie to your face.

[ Sobbing ] If your moderate to severe crohn’s disease

Kyle: What the hell, summer? You lied about something that directly affected all of our lives for months. How could you do that?

Summer: But kyle, it’s over. It’s finally over. I’m relieved that this secret is out. I– I hated having to lie to you.

Kyle: No, no, no, no. You didn’t have to lie.

Summer: You’re right. But kyle, I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Yes, I am furious at my mom for what she did and the position that she put me in, but I was just so happy that she was even alive.

Kyle: Come on.

Summer: I– I was desperate to keep her out of jail.

Kyle: No. So, wait. Daniel was covering for you all this time? Why? What would make him do that? Why would it have been so bad if you were the one who shared your mother’s secret?

Summer: I don’t know. He just didn’t want me to have to deal with the questions or accusations, I guess.

Kyle: No, he was protecting you. If you saw phyllis first, that means you saw her when my mother was in jail. You could have cleared my mother’s name and set her free. You could have gotten her out of that god awful place, but instead, you decide to sit back and do nothing!

Billy: We gotta stop this. You know that, right? I mean, there’s no way that we can let ashley marry that conman.

Jack: Ashley marrying tucker mccall would be a colossal mistake, but I don’t know how we’re gonna stop it.

Billy: I don’t know either. But we gotta do something. I mean, we can’t just sit here and let our sister put her faith in that scam artist.

Jack: I’d like to think ashley would realize that herself.

Billy: You know, I was gonna give him the benefit of the doubt until all of this coup stuff started to happen. Because I guarantee you, he is the one driving this.

Jack: Well, I’m not gonna be the one to talk her out of it. She doesn’t listen to me. Listen, I have tried to reason with her for months to no avail.

Billy: How does she not learn her lesson?

Jack: You know, when they first mentioned this engagement, I thought it was just a jab at diane after she’d gotten her freedom, but no, I’m starting to think this wedding is imminent.

Billy: Not if I have anything to say about it.

Jack: Ashley keeps saying that her relationship with tucker is just like my relationship with diane. It is nothing like it. They have nothing in common.

Billy: No, but, you know, let’s just be honest, right? They both have a scandalous past of bad behavior.

Jack: Hold on. She caught him red-handed with jabot financial documents in his hotel suite. She knew he was coming after the family company. She alerted us so we could stop him. Now, we’re supposed to just forget that?

Billy: No. No, ashley’s too smart for that. I don’t think any of this is forgotten.

Jack: What does that mean?

Billy: I think she has something up her sleeve with this marriage thing. It’s too calculated. And I don’t know if tucker’s involved or not, but I guarantee you it has something to do with jabot.

Adam: So, I’ve been, uh, doing my research and mccall desperately needs to be streamlined. It’s crucial that we cut the fat and we sell it off.

Victor: Like what?

Adam: The music department. It’s the company’s least profitable sector and it’s weighing the company down. There’s absolutely no upside.

Victor: Do you realize that music is the very foundation of what tucker built? It’s it cornerstone.

Adam: It was. But going forward, I’ll be focused on newer media and the streaming divisions.

Victor: You realize that a move like that will put you in direct competition with newman media?

Adam: Exactly.

[ Door clicks open ]

Sharon: Oh, good. You’re back.

Nick: There’s no sight of him anywhere. Ranch security and gcpd are combing the property.

Sharon: I think I was more worried that you would find him.

Nick: I’m sure he is long gone. He’d be a fool to stick around and risk getting caught.

Chance: If he was even here. We don’t even know how the cat died yet.

Faith: I’m gonna head upstairs and start calling my friends to break the sad news. They trusted me with borgnine.

Sharon: That’s a very good idea. I’m gonna come up and check on you soon. Look, I know you have your doubts. And as a detective, you don’t wanna jump to conclusions, I get that, but I am more than certain that this was cameron’s doing. I feel it in my gut. Just like the packages he sent me at crimson lights, and right here, right out there on this doorstep. These are messages for me from a madman.

Chance: If they are messages, what do they mean?

Sharon: They’re warnings of what’s to come. (Chef vo) fancy feast.

Victor: Son, I gave you mccall to bring you back into our family. Not to use it as a weapon against your sister.

Adam: Okay, you’re assuming the worst of my intentions. That’s not what I’m doing. This, it’s simply good business.

Victor: It isn’T. Not when your last name is newman. You’re cutting off your nose to spite your face, son.

Adam: I don’t have any stake in newman enterprises. I accepted your offer to run mccall. That’s where my focus is. That’s my only concern and priority right now.

Victor: Your priority should be your family above all else.

Adam: Can I assume that you’re gonna have this conversation with victoria when she comes after me?

Victor: Let me warn you, going after newman media is a declaration of war and I will not have it.

Adam: Dad, I am not out to obliterate newman media. I wanna take it over. It was mine to begin with. Do you remember? Do you remember what we created before victoria snatched it away from me? All I wanna do is bring it back to where it started. You see, it’s about family.

Nate: That’s nice.

Victoria: So good.

Nate: Yeah, I like it. You really liked those second quarter numbers, didn’t you?

[ Victoria laughs ]

Victoria: I know that it’s weird, but I just get turned on mixing business and pleasure. That’s just so satisfying on so many different levels.

Nate: I agree. I’m glad you’re satisfied.

Victoria: Well, I admire your determination, and I really love this little distraction, but you know we have work to do.

Nate: Okay. Good. You know, I was looking at newman’s website for, uh, the real estate development. I had an idea.

Victoria: Please tell me. I’m all ears.

Nate: What if my tech team updated the site with virtual tours of the properties currently under construction? It would show off our outstanding work in various stages of production while highlighting our high profile client list. It could make for a great marketing tool. Don’t you think?

[ Victoria chuckles ]

Victoria: I love that you took the initiative to think of something like this. But I mean, I like it. I do, I’m gonna run it past my mother and nick, and see if they’re interested in investing in the concept.

Nate: YeaH. [ Clears throat ]

Victoria: What’s wrong? You’re not worried about my brother, are you?

Nate: I just hope he doesn’t get the wrong idea about my suggestion. I’d hate for him to claim that I’m overstepping again and working on some power play out of my purview.

Victoria: You don’t have to worry about nicholas. I’ll handle my brother.

Audra: Nate and victoria’s growing relationship doesn’t bother me a bit. The closer they get, the better it is for my game plan.

Tucker: Okay. If that’s the truth, then I admire your resolve. But seriously, I also know you. And I know that behind all the manipulations and schemes, you got a big heart.

Audra: Well, um, even if I did have lingering feelings for nate, it’s not like I could do anything about them. Interfering with his budding romance with our boss would ruin everything that I’ve been working so hard for.

Tucker: Oh, that’s a shame.

Audra: Yeah. I guess my only choice is to keep my distance.

Tucker: May I offer you some sage advice?

Audra: That’ll be a hard pass. I don’t put too much credence into your advice these days.

Tucker: Oh. It’s been working out well for me. I walked away from mccall to find myself not only engaged to the woman of my dreams, but, uh… with this brand new golden opportunity staring me in the face.

Summer: Kyle, I promise you I– I wasn’t gonna let diane rot in jail, but by the time I even had a chance to process the fact that my mom was alive, she was already out on bail.

Kyle: No, on house arrest, awaiting trial for murder. And you justified staying quiet how? In the minds of the people of this town, my mother was already tried and convicted. Still today, people believe she is guilty.

Summer: She’s out now. The charges have been dropped.

Kyle: No, no, no, no. You don’t get to think that absolves you from all the pain and the trauma she went through. You didn’t just sit back and stay quiet. You were actually upset with daniel for coming forward, for doing the right thing.

Summer: No.

Kyle: That’s what you were fighting about, wasn’t it?

Summer: No! We just disagreed on how to keep our mom out of jail.

Kyle: Exactly. You wanted to keep it a secret and daniel knew that wasn’t right. And my god, my mother would still be on trial for murder if it wasn’t for daniel!

[ Exhales in frustration ] When were you gonna come forward, summer? After she was convicted and sent off to prison?

Summer: No. I never would’ve let it get that far. I promise you that. I just needed time to figure out a way to protect my mom.

Kyle: This doesn’t come down to time. This comes down to one thing and there is no other way to spin it. You sacrificed my mother to protect yours. If you think you, a child in your care,

Jack: Oh, I confronted ashley about her potential coup plot and put her on notice.

Billy: Yeah? You think that’s gonna stop her? ‘Cause I guarantee you it’s not gonna stop tucker and he’s the driving force behind this.

Jack: She claims tucker was no part of any efforts on her part to reach out to individual board members.

Billy: I don’t care what she claims. Tucker is the one that put the seed in her head. I guarantee it.

Jack: I just like to think that the sister we love and grew up with would not allow herself to be manipulated by this guy again.

Billy: Even if she claims she’s trying to save jabot from a non-existent threat from diane–

Jack: At least, she would ask for a prenup. But to fall into his web of lies and make herself vulnerable and her shares in the company vulnerable makes no sense.

Billy: You know, tucker is a free agent right now. And he’s got money to burn after selling mccall. And jabot looks pretty tempting to a shark like him. Puts him in striking distance of a board seat.

Jack: Whoa! Whoa! Don’t even put that out there.

Billy: Listen, all I’m saying is that ashley could make a compelling argument for expanding the board, which we have talked about, but we’ve always said it has to be a family member. If our sister marries him… it makes him a family member.

Audra: How did you manage to achieve all of that? Snagging ashley, and this mysterious golden opportunity all at once?

Tucker: I just… opened my mind, you see. And I keep it open. Open to each and every possibility. And I’m willing to risk everything because everything you see is an illusion. And with that bit of wisdom, I must bid you good day.

Audra: Uh, was– was that wisdom or just a bunch of nonsense?

Tucker: Hmm. Only when you are able to discern the difference between the two, grasshopper, will you be halfway to enlightenment.

Audra: Yeah. Random nonsense.

Tucker: Namaste, baby.

[ Audra chuckles ]

[ Footsteps departing ]

Summer: Kyle, you gotta believe me, I was trying to figure out a way to keep both of our moms out of prison. I– I only kept quiet to buy time to bring my mom home safely. That’s it.

Kyle: I’m sorry, summer. I can’t accept your justifications. You were only thinking about you and your mother. You completely disregarded how your actions would affect my family, our family.

Summer: No, I was– I was trying to do what was right for everyone.

Kyle: No, no, no. Stop, stop, stop. You have to own up to your actions here. You weren’t just sitting back and watching my mother suffer. You watched me suffer. I was worried as hell about you. I was worried how this would affect our marriage. How it would affect our harrison. I thought you were pushing me away because of something I had done. That I somehow couldn’t be the husband you needed.

Summer: But that wasn’t it at all.

Kyle: No, what was I supposed to think? You kept pushing me away. You kept me at a distance for a reason. One reason. To hide your damn lies.

Chance: Sharon, we don’t know for sure if cameron is behind any of this yet.

Sharon: I’m telling you that I am sure. Cameron wants me to know that I cannot hide from his abuse. That I’m not even safe in my own home with armed security guards. Even victor’s extra security can’t keep me safe. This man is coming for me. I can feel it!

Chance: We need proof. Why isn’t he showing up on any of the security footage?

Nick: It’s probably because he was disguised as a newman guard.

Chance: What?

Nick: One of my dad’s security team was found drugged and tied up and thrown into a closet last night at newman towers and his uniform was missing.

Chance: Why am I just now hearing about this? Did they report it?

Nick: Probably not. Chance, they like to keep things like this in house.

Chance: All right. That’s great, nick, I’m trying to help you and you’re withholding information like that from me.

Nick: Well, I’m telling you now.

Sharon: Isn’t that more proof that cameron is behind this?

Chance: Yes, it could be, but I cannot investigate something that has not been reported, okay? So, is there anything else you aren’t telling me?

Sharon: Look, I understand as a detective, you need to look at things from all angles, but you do not know cameron like we do. You were not there to hear him promise that we would soon find out why he came back here and what he’s after. He’s definitely after revenge. And that poor animal was just his latest victim in his sick and dangerous games.

[ Phone chimes ]

Chance: One second.

Sharon: What is it?

Nick: Did they find him?

Chance: [ Sighs ] No. But the cat was definitely poisoned.

[ Nick sighs ] Hey! It’s your dry skin.

Audra: That tucker mccall, he’s always intruding where he’s not invited.

Victor: Hmm.

Audra: You know, he never misses an opportunity to just drop in and play his little mind games.

Victor: Mm-hmm. But you’re still working together.

Audra: Oh, no. That’s long behind us.

Victor: Ah.

Audra: Yeah.

Victor: Well, he’s of no concern to me, but let me ask you something. How do you like working at newman media? I mean, how do you like working with nate?

Audra: Uh, nate? Nate is amazing.

Victor: Really?

Audra: Mm-hmm, you know, I am learning so much from his instinctive business savvy.

Victor: Instinctive business savvy, how’s that?

Audra: Well, he just seems to know the right moves to make and questions to ask when needed, yeah.

Victor: All right. All signs of a good leader.

Audra: Oh, yes, yes. We all take our cues from him, because his business style… inspires us all.

Victor: Hmm.

Jack: I don’t care if it’s tucker’s idea or ashley’S. I don’t like the sound of any of this.

Billy: Even if ashley is in charge of this coup, she is crazy to depend on tucker. I don’t trust him. I don’t trust him as far as I can throw him and I’d like to throw him through that brick wall.

Jack: Yeah. You and me both.

Billy: I’ll do whatever it takes. I will not let him hurt our sister, even if I have to cut them off at the knees to stop this, I will do whatever it takes to protect jabot.

Summer: Kyle, you’ve gotta forgive me, okay? You’ve gotta forgive me. I will make it up to you if you just let me.

Kyle: I– I just don’t see how that can happen, summer. The more I think about it, the worse it gets. It killed me to watch you and what I thought was inconsolable grief.

Summer: I was– I was devastated.

Kyle: Yeah, but after you found out the truth? How long until you stopped grieving and started putting on the act of the grieving daughter? It is diabolical. I thought I was watching you suffer, but it was all a lie.

Summer: I was suffering lying to you, kyle. It was torture for me.

Kyle: No, and you were so damn good at it. You lied repeatedly to my face! I’m done, I can’t take any more of this.

Summer: Kyle, wait! Look– kyle, I need to know what you’re gonna do, I– please, please don’t– don’t tell anybody where my mom is.

Kyle: My god, you are still putting her first. Expecting me to cover for her after everything that’s happened? I don’t know what’s real with you anymore.

Summer: No, kyle, wait! Kyle!

[ Door shuts closed ]

[ Exhales in frustration ]

Nick: Of course, the cat was poisoned. What more proof do you need? You gotta put him in cuffs.

Chance: There’s still no evidence that proves cameron did any of this. And nick, the cat was outside. This is a ranch. There’s a thousand things out there that could’ve made him sick.

Sharon: This has cameron kirsten’s name all over it.

Chance: I get it. And I am sorry, but this is the way that I have to handle it. Just know I will see this through. You have my word. Now, I’m gonna go to newman tower, and see what I can find out about this stolen uniform. Stay close to home. Keep the doors locked. Call me if you need anything.

Sharon: Okay.

[ Door clicks open ]

Nick: This is so frustrating. I wish there was something more we could do.

Sharon: I can’t believe this is happening, nick. Why is he doing this to me?

Nick: Sharon, you are safe here, okay? And so is faith.

Sharon: You know, there was something that chance said. The cat, he wasn’t outside. Faith didn’t let him out. I didn’t let him out. He was here. He was inside the whole time.

Nick: You think he was inside your house?

Sharon: He had to have been. Cameron was here. He was inside the house. How else could he have poisoned the cat?

Nick: That’s it. I’ve had it. I’m not waiting around anymore. I’m gonna find cameron and put an end to this for good.

Sharon: Nick.

Nick: Just got to make sure everything’s locked up.

Sharon: Nick.

Nick: You know, we can’t get comfortable, because if we do, that’ll be the opportunity that cameron needs.

Sharon: Okay, nick–

Nick: Hey, this bolt is loose. I’m gonna have to fix that. You should close these curtains. What about the guest room?

Sharon: Nicholas!

Nick: What?

Sharon: Calm down.

Nick: Sharon, we have to be proactive.

Sharon: I know, we will. And I’m going to go and check on faith, but I am not going to alarm her.

Nick: Yeah. It’s probably best. What about the tea, is that too much?

Sharon: I think that’s an excellent idea. Listen, we are not going to freak out about cameron. We can’T. We are going to remain calm and rational. I’m not gonna make the same mistakes I made with him last time. And I’m not gonna let you do that either.

[ Door slamming ]

Tucker: You still seem agitated.

Ashley: Well, I am.

Tucker: Even after?

Ashley: After what?

Tucker: Mind-blowing sex, man.

Ashley: Oh, that.

[ Chuckles ]

Tucker: I’m in my happy place. You should join me.

Ashley: I can’t, not while diane jenkins is–

Tucker: Oh, diane jenkins, diane jenkins!

Tucker: I got an idea. Right now, we go to the airport, you and me, and we fly anywhere in the world. Vacation. Take you away from all this diane jenkins stress.

Ashley: I can’T. Not while this stress wants to marry my brother, and destroy my family. Not a chance.

Phyllis: I can explain.

Phyllis: [ Sighs ] Kyle. Well, I’m– I’m sure you have a lot to say to me, right?

Kyle: Damn right, I do! Summer was broken because of you. My mother was facing life in prison because of you.

Phyllis: Aw, your mom is so innocent. Isn’t she? She’s never committed a crime, she’s never hurt anybody or put anybody through pain, right?

Summer: Mom, please.

Phyllis: Uh– it’s okay, babe. I’m sorry. Kyle, I’m sorry. I really am. Please, believe me. Oh, god. I’m sorry, I– my head’s spinning. I– I– this is so hard for me. I know I put a lot of people through pain, and one of those people is your mother, and I am so sorry. Kyle, please believe me. That’s why I’m back. That’s why I’m here. I want to make amends. I want to make things right.

Diane: [ Sighs ] Love won, jack. We won, because of you. You made this possible. Your love, your compassion, your patience. You let me back into your life when everyone was telling you to run the other way. And I saw you struggle, I saw– I saw how hard it was for you to trust me, and I– I just wanted to be worthy of that trust.

Jack: I have never loved you more.

[ Diane chuckles ] And I couldn’t be more excited about our future.

Diane: When we were dancing, I was thinking about how I could have never had this kind of day as the person I was before. But I’m free of the past, of– of so much bitterness. Falling in love with you again, seeing your grace, your generosity of spirit, learning from you… I’ve found a compassion of my own. Even for phyllis. As angry as I am with her, I also pity her.

Jack: I thought we weren’t gonna talk about phyllis tonight.

Diane: You’re right. Let’s talk about you some more.

Jack: No, I got a better topic. You said earlier you can’t wait to get married.

Diane: That’s right.

Jack: So, when? When can we be pronounced husband and wife?

Ashley: Diane is unfinished business for me.

Tucker: Mm-hmm.

Ashley: I can’t focus on anything else until I handle that, which is why I need your help.

Tucker: A very wise woman once forced me to become a better man in spite of myself. And, uh, I kind of like who I’ve become. Feels very good. This, however, feels very… aggressive.

Ashley: Are you not hearing anything I’m saying to you? I’m doing this for the right reason. I want to save my family, and the abbott legacy, which, by the way, used to be jack’s reason for existing until diane hijacked his brain.

Tucker: Do you really believe that diane is after jabot?

Ashley: Yes. She’s not marrying jack because she loves him, she wants access to respectability, to money, to power.

Tucker: And jabot is her ticket?

Ashley: Yes, she will convince jack to give her her position that she’s not qualified for, and she’ll use it to claw her way to the top, which is why I– you know, as I told you, I spoke to the board.

Tucker: So, your idea is to weaponize the board against jack in order to save jack?

[ Ashley sighs ] I don’t like that word, “weaponize,” but…

Tucker: Whatever.

Ashley: Yeah, it’s the only way.

Nick: How’s our girl?

Sharon: She’s awake, and, um, on high alert. She’s snuggling with borgnine, I think he makes her feel a little safer. But now that we’re back home, she’s gonna try to get some sleep.

Nick: This is crazy. It makes me want to hunt down this creep and run him out of town myself.

Sharon: Nick.

Nick: I know, I know. Calm and reasonable.

[ Sighs ] Calm and reasonable, but it is getting harder and harder to be rational about this. This madman is on the loose. We don’t know why he’s here or what he’s planning on doing.

Sharon: Maybe, it’s time we let victor and nikki know what’s happening. Why give your family just any eggs

Nick: I’ve already alerted ranch security. If we bring my dad in on this, it’s gonna turn into a whole different situation, and I’m not sure I’m ready for that.

Sharon: Well… your dad does have resources that we don’t have access to.

Nick: I know, but if we ask for his help, he’s gonna want something in return.

Sharon: Well, his family is in danger. He would do whatever it takes to protect them.

Nick: He absolutely will, but I’m telling you, he will use it as leverage to get something he wants from me, like… make me work with adam at mccall, which he’s already tried to do and it’s never gonna happen.

Sharon: Oh, I think you’re overreacting.

Nick: [ Sighs ] Am I? He hates my relationship with sally. We already have the police on this, sharon.

Sharon: Well, you said yourself, they’ve come up with nothing on cameron so far.

Nick: I do hate the waiting.

Sharon: Yeah, I know. You’re horrible at it. Nick. If you take matters into your own hands, I don’t know if we will be so lucky as we were last time. It’s a miracle that we’re actually still here after what went down in that plane.

Nick: I know.

Sharon: We should have worked with victor from the start last time, instead of waiting until I was framed for frank’s murder. This time, we know who cameron is, we know what he’s capable of, and we need to be reaching out for all the support we can get. We need your father.

Tucker: If I’m gonna ride shotgun on this thing, we need to analyze every angle.

Ashley: Mm-hmm.

Tucker: Like, when things don’t go according to plan. ‘Cause jack, if nothing else, is beloved by all. Yes, he is.

Ashley: Mm.

Tucker: And it’s gonna take real artistry to convince the board that he’s unfit. And billy’s on his side. And traci, well, she just wants to get along with everyone. What about kyle? I don’t see us getting his vote. And do you want to bring abby through the ringer?

Ashley: Okay, okay, you’re right. I know, there’s parts of this plan that require some serious finessing, but nobody finesses better than you. Right?

Tucker: Mm-hmm. But if you– if you come at the king and you miss… jack would be lionized, he’d be untouchable, and diane would be right there with him. And you would’ve lost your family in the process.

Ashley: I’m not going to fail. Period. It won’t happen.

Tucker: Mm-hmm.

Ashley: And then, diane will lose, you know, her access to respectability, power, and money, and she will lose interest in jack. And she’ll move on to the next jeremy stark, and jack will be sadder, but he’ll be wiser.

Tucker: Thanks to you.

Ashley: Yes. Thanks to me. I’ll save my brother, I’ll save my family.

Tucker: Mm.

Ashley: Oh, and by the way, diane will get a long overdue karmic kick in her ass.

Tucker: Hmm.

Ashley: Don’t you want to be along for the ride, baby?

Tucker: All right. I’m in.

Ashley: Mm.

Tucker: But if we’re going in full throttle like this, I have a suggestion.

Ashley: Of course.

Tucker: We get married immediately.

Diane: Okay. Before we set an actual date, there’s just a few details I wanna run by you.

Jack: Okay, but I pre-agree to almost everything.

Diane: [ Chuckles ] Good idea. Okay, I’d like it to be small, yet elegant. After our big announcement at the gala, I’m a little gun shy about grand gestures.

Jack: Understandably. Small and intimate is ideal.

Diane: Good. And I’d like harrison to be our ring bearer.

Jack: That would be my choice, too. He will steal the show, you know that, don’t you–

Diane: Oh, oh, I– I hope so. And normally, I would ask kyle to walk me down the aisle, but I’m assuming that you’re going to want him to be your best man, so…

[ Sighs ] …I would love it if we walked down together. Because that’s how we’ve done everything since you let me back into your life.

Jack: I love that. I would like nothing better.

Diane: Good. And… mm. I do have one more idea.

[ Sighs ] If she’ll accept, I would like summer to be my matron of honor.

Jack: Summer? You’re certain?

Diane: Yeah, our family means everything to me, jack, and I want our wedding to reflect that. And since phyllis pulled this horrible stunt, summer’s been– well, she’s been lost to us. I want her to know that she’s important, that she’s loved, and I want our wedding day to prove that phyllis has no power over our family.

Kyle: If you’re so damn remorseful, and want to make amends, and do the right thing, turn yourself in!

Summer: Kyle, that isn’t the answer.

Phyllis: No, it’s okay, summer. I know how kyle feels.

Kyle: No, you have no idea how I feel.

Phyllis: You’re right, you’re right, I have no idea how you feel. [ Sighs ] I should be punished for what I did. I realize that. I will accept punishment, but please, kyle, no police. No police, not until I clear my name.

Kyle: And there it is. You just made it about saving your own ass.

Summer: Kyle, please.

Phyllis: That’s okay. I know I was wrong, and I am so sorry. In a million ways, I am sorry. But that’s why I’m back. To do the right thing, kyle. Just like your mom did. I’m here to take responsibility, and have accountability. And I’m gonna start by admitting that I resented your mother.

Kyle: Oh, that’s an understatement.

Phyllis: I did. Because she had everything I wanted. She had a family, she had a son who loved her. And my kids wanted nothing to do with me. And I was alone. I was completely alone. And then, jeremy stark started whispering in my ear, and I tried to push him away, but he kept coming back. And I am ashamed to say that I wanted your mother hurt. And so I gave in to jeremy’s plan.

Kyle: So, you’re a victim?

Phyllis: Yeah. Just like your mom. Because jeremy took advantage of your mom when she was weak and vulnerable, just like he did me. But then, I realized…

[ Sighs ] …I was in too deep, and the only way to save myself… was by– was by hurting jeremy.

Kyle: By killing him.

Phyllis: Yes. But it wasn’t murder, kyle. It was self-defense.

Kyle: Your word against a dead man’s?

Phyllis: But it’s true. It was self-defense, and that’s why I need more time. I need to find a way to clear my name. Kyle, please. [ Gasping ] For my family, my life. I mean, it’s in your hands right now. Hey, dad. I got an a on my book report.

Kyle: How do you plan to clear your name? And how do you expect to stay hidden? Because the gcac isn’t exactly in the middle of nowhere.

Phyllis: Hey, listen, it wasn’t the smartest thing to do, but I couldn’t stay away. Um… I couldn’t be away from my babies, so…

[ Phyllis sighs ] You know the idea that– that daniel is just on another floor, and– and that, you know, summer might come here to have a meal at the restaurant, it just– it gave me comfort.

Summer: Kyle, I can’t lose my mom again. I know that you understand how that feels.

Phyllis: Hey, um… let’s look at this, um, rationally.

Kyle: Rational? You?

Phyllis: You remember when your mother came back, right? Back from the dead? And you were so angry at her. Like you are at me right now. And it took some time, kyle, but you forgave her, and the two of you have built this amazing relationship, and, oh, my gosh, it’s so beautiful to watch. It truly is. And all I’m asking for is just time.

Kyle: No, it’s totally different.

Phyllis: How’s it different? Uh, well, I mean, your mom was gone for years and years, so, in that sense, yeah, ’cause, for me, it’s just been A… but these are the similarities. Your mother was unhappy and the idea of a brand new life seemed very, very appealing and I completely understand that. But we couldn’t be away from our babies, so we had to come back. And you see, that is the same. You see that, right?

[ Chuckles ] Kyle, I need time.

Kyle: No.

Phyllis: I will make this right, I just–

Kyle: No, no, no. Stop. Stop. I watched summer cry herself to sleep. I watched her retreat into her grief to a point I didn’t know if she could ever return. You did that. And then you magically reappear with all your tears and your victimhood and your apologies, and you expect summer to risk it all to help you avoid a punishment you deserve.

Phyllis: I would never put my daughter in harm’s way.

Kyle: It has already happened. I feel guilty even being in this room. It makes us all complicit. And you don’t even give a damn because all you think about is yourself.

Phyllis: That’s not true.

Kyle: Hmm? Aiding and abetting. Obstruction of justice. Collusion. We could all go to jail for being in this room, and then what happens to harrison? Have either of you thought about that?

Nikki: It’s late, is everything all right? Is faith home?

Sharon: Uh, yeah, she’s upstairs asleep, hopefully.

Victor: So, what is going on?

Nick: It’s cameron kirsten.

Nikki: What about him?

Sharon: He’s back in genoa city.

Nikki: What?

Victor: They let that slimeball out of prison?

Nick: Yeah. He’s definitely here.

Nikki: Oh, no!

Sharon: For a few weeks now I’ve been receiving these mysterious gifts. Um, a champagne bottle that apparently has blood on it, uh, a postcard from denver, colorado, and then a cigar box with a matchbook inside from the southside hotel, and that was delivered here despite security.

Victor: But have you seen him?

Sharon: Yes. Tonight at the coffeehouse, nick was helping me close up. Mostly he just taunted us and then he left, but the scary thing is, he approached faith when she was in chancellor park and pretended to be an old friend.

Victor: Have you called the cops?

Nick: Yeah. We brought chance in on this. He, uh– he told us what cameron’s been up to. Apparently, he got out of prison, moved out to la. He got a new girlfriend, one that looks eerily similar to sharon. He then beat her up, ended up back in prison, did more time, but now he’s out again. Back to playing his old sick mind games.

Sharon: Chance has the police looking for cameron, but so far, nothing.

Nikki: Maybe we should put additional guards at the gate and a patrol around the perimeter?

Victor: That’ll be done before we get back to the house. This is unbelievable.

Nikki: Well, I would feel much more comfortable if sharon and faith stayed at our house for the night.

Sharon: Oh, that is so nice of you. Thank you. That’s really up to faith. She can be a little bit stubborn, but thank you so much for the offer.

Kyle: No, no, no, it has already happened. If this goes on any longer and the cops catch you, how do we explain mommy’s in jail?

Summer: Kyle, we get it. My mom has made huge mistakes. I know. And she’s willing to accept the consequences, but she deserves a fighting chance. Kyle, if we don’t help her find a way to clear her of killing stark, then she’s gonna be at the mercy of christine, and that’s not justice!

Kyle: Maybe she should have thought about the consequences before she framed my mother for murder, killed stark, dragged you into this mess. I will never forgive you for this.

Phyllis: Kyle, I’m gonna make this right. I swear to you. I swear to you, I’m gonna make this right. I just need time, just a little bit of time, and only you can give that to me.

Kyle: Oh, you are relentless.

Summer: Please. Kyle, please.

Kyle: No cops… for now.

[ Summer sighs ]

Phyllis: Okay, uh, go. Go ahead.

[ Daniel whistles sharply ]

Daniel: Not what you had planned, huh?

Phyllis: [ Chuckles ] No. Not at all.

Jack: You know I love summer and I would like nothing more than to see her stand up for you, but I– I don’t think she will accept and I don’t want to see you get your feelings hurt.

Diane: Well, I have to at least try. Just like I have been trying with her.

Jack: I know, I know.

Diane: [ Chuckles ] Okay, so when you asked me to marry you at the cabin, I kind of– kind of had a little day dream about what our wedding day would look like.

Jack: Uh-huh.

Diane: And that included having summer accept me as part of her family. And I’m not ready to give up on that. I have my life back, jack, and I want to do what my heart says is right. And that includes being there for summer.

Jack: And I say, by all means, follow your heart.

Diane: You know what else my heart is saying?

Jack: No, what?

Diane: That it’s time to go home and make love to my husband-to-be.

Jack: I like that idea. In fact, I wish that had been my idea.

[ Diane chuckles ]

Ashley: I gotta tell you, it’s kind of strange that you’re so laser-focused on getting married.

Tucker: Hmm. I just– I want… validation. Affirmation of… I want the ring on my finger also to– to say to the world, “ladies, I’m spoken for. I am out of circulation.”

Ashley: Oh, that ring really stopped you from circulating before, didn’t it?

Tucker: Yeah, I know. I know what it’s like to lose you now so I’m not gonna let that happen. And when you set the date, I’ll know you’re finally ready to let me into your life, and when you say the vows, they’ll come from your heart, and they will be forever.

Ashley: Hmm. Well, then. You think you know me so well.

Phyllis: How you doing? Really?

Daniel: [ Laughs ] You know, kyle just tore out of here, he might be ready to set a match to your future, and you’re worried about me?

Phyllis: Well, of course I’m worried about you. I’m a mom, that’s what we do, we worry, all the time.

[ Laughs nervously] I’m a mom, even though you think that I am a vindictive psychopath most of the time.

[ Daniel laughs ]

Daniel: You know, when I saw you on the floor at the gala, when stark said that the two of you were married, I– you know I attacked the guy, right?

[ Phyllis chuckles ] I hated myself, because of all the things that were left unsaid between the two of us, and I– I hated the world because you weren’t in it anymore. But you were. You were there. You were there at your memorial and you saw me in pain, you saw me grieving, and you just– you just let me feel that.

Phyllis: [ Sighs ] Um… I did. And I’m sorry. I’m lucky you’re talking to me. I know that. And I know I put you through pain– it kills me. But I’ll let you talk about it as long as you want, even if it takes years.

Daniel: You know I love you, mom. And I’m so glad that you’re back, but forgiving you? I can’t believe that you would do the things you did to your own children.

[ Door slamming ]

Summer: That was a shock, right? Seeing my mom like that?

Kyle: You didn’t seem shocked.

Summer: I don’t understand.

Kyle: You came face to face for the first time with the mother you mourned for months and you were so calm. You were rational. Might sound crazy, but it’s almost as if you were more surprised to see me than phyllis.

Summer: That does sound crazy.

Kyle: Yeah? Because I’m pretty sure that wasn’t the first time you’d seen phyllis, was it? How long have you known phyllis was alive?

Victor: I want security outside this door 24/7, patrolling the perimeter of the ranch at all times. Clear? Thank you.

Sharon: Thank you so much, victor.

Nick: I talked to your head of security. They’ve got an entire team tracking cameron’s whereabouts. Hopefully, they hear something soon.

Victor: Sometimes I’ve the feeling that our security is more effective than the cops are.

Nick: That is exactly what I’m counting on.

Victor: How’s faith?

Nikki: Well, sharon, you were right. She wouldn’t budge. When I asked her to sleep up at the main house tonight, she said nobody is going to scare her out of her own home.

Nick: That’s my girl. As stubborn as her grandpa.

Nikki: Well, I guess if a guard is here, I can live with that.

Victor: Yes. It’s all taken care of, okay?

Sharon: Thank you so much, victor. I really do feel a lot better just knowing that we are actively doing something to protect faith and to find cameron.

Victor: Sharon, I want you and faith to get some sleep now. I will make certain that someone is watching this house at all times, all right?

[ Nick sighs ]

Phyllis: Well, I will tell you something. Um… I don’t really understand… why I do some of the things I do myself. I do know that I hurt the two people that I love most in the world… and I put myself in my own personal hell, you know?

Daniel: [ Chuckles ] Yeah, you kind of dragged us along with you.

Phyllis: And I’m gonna make it up to you. I just can’t do it in a prison cell. I can’t go to prison. Daniel, I can’t go. I can’t go. But I am done running. I will never run again, and I will never, ever be separated from my family again. Do you understand? Do you believe me?

[ Door clicks open ]

Kyle: Well?

Summer: Kyle, I don’t know what you’re talking–

[ Jack and diane chattering ]

Jack: Oh. Hi, there.

Kyle: Hi.

Diane: Hi. Uh, gosh, summer, I know this must be hard for you, watching us celebrate my freedom when your mother is out there somewhere, and I’m– I’m sure you’re really worried about her. But I have a feeling everything will work out for phyllis. She’ll come back, she’ll get the support she needs for whatever’s ahead, and she should. For you and daniel. And I’m– I’m just so glad that you have kyle to lean on, because as long as you continue to keep letting each other in, love and trust can move mountains.

Jack: That is absolutely true.

Diane: Yeah.

[ Door clicks open ]

[ Ashley and tucker laughing ]

Ashley: Oh, this is fantastic, you’re all here!

Tucker: Hey!

Jack: Uh, we were just headed up.

Ashley: Oh, no, no, no, no. Please just stay for a second.

Jack: You know what, it– it’s kinda late–

Tucker: No, no, no, no, it’s– it’s not too late because we have to celebrate. We have to toast to the fact that this– this miracle of a woman has decided to marry me yet again!

Ashley: [ Cheering ] Yay!

Tucker: And as soon as humanly possible.

Ashley: Ooh, okay. Mm. Mm. Mm.

Tucker: Yeah.

Sharon: Hey, whatever happened to the tea you were gonna make me?

Nick: I’ll do it right now.

Sharon: No, no, I’m– I’m just kidding. Really, all I want is to just tuck myself in bed.

Nick: I don’t know how you can be so calm, I mean, just knowing cameron’s out there is making my skin crawl.

Sharon: Well, I just keep telling myself that we can handle this, you know? We know him, we know he’s dangerous, diabolical, we know he’s not afraid of going back to prison. And we have got victor’s entire security team and the police on our side. He doesn’t stand a chance.

[ Phone pinging ] What is it?

Nick: It’s from my dad. One of his security team was found tied up, drugged, and stuffed into a closet at newman tower.

Sharon: Oh, no.

Nick: And his uniform was missing.

[ Unzipping ]

Diane: This must be our lucky night.

Jack: Oh, in more ways than one. Thank you for suggesting mo’S.

Diane: Well, it’s your favorite record store, and tonight, we’re going to do all of our favorite things.

Jack: Everything I do with you is my new favorite thing.

[ Diane laughing ] I am sorry that tucker and ashley spoiled our time at society.

Diane: Nope! Already forgotten because this night is not over.

Jack: Oh, other plans?

Diane: Yes. Drinks first.

Jack: Oh! Well, let me get you something at the bar, all right?

Diane: No, no, no! No, no. No, no. I got this. Two martinis, one dirty, one with extra olives, and I can’t wait to chat up the bartender or mixologist or whatever he wants to be called, because I am dying for small talk with strangers. Like, what kind of gin does he prefer, and how we both know that it should be stirred, not shaken because gin is so much more delicate than vodka.

Jack: You are an absolute wonder.

Diane: Hmm. I’ve just gotten my life back for the second time since coming home to genoa city and I plan on soaking up every minute of it.

Summer: Oh my, god, mom, you’ve got to let this go.

Kyle: Hey.

Summer: Oh. Wow, that looks… festive?

Kyle: Yeah. I want it to be perfectly chill by the time my parents get home. We can finally toast to my mom’s freedom.

Phyllis: Hey. Summer, I’m getting desperate. Please, please, answer me.

Daniel: Well, we cut the drop off pretty close. I’m glad you made it to your gate in time. I love you, too, luce. You have a safe flight. Oh, um, and… text me when you land. I don’t care what time it is, okay? ‘Kay. Bye.

[ Phone chiming ] Who’s this?

Sharon: You’re right, nikki. Cameron started causing problems for me the minute he got to town. He… wanted me. And he made it evident that if his deal was gonna happen with nicholas, I was gonna have to chip in a little on the side.

Nikki: And you never told your husband about this ugly game this guy was playing with you?

Sharon: How could I tell him?

Nikki: How could you not? This guy was comin’ after you. Do you think for a moment that nicholas wouldn’t have supported you?

Sharon: Oh, my god. Oh, it’s you.

Nick: Sorry. You okay?

Sharon: Yeah, I’m just a little jumpy.

Nick: Yeah, you need to start locking the doors, sharon.

Sharon: Good idea.

Nick: All right, if you’re done here, let’s go. I’ll take you home.

Sharon: You don’t have to drive me.

Nick: Sorry. You don’t get a say in that.

Sharon: Well, you already beefed up security.

Nick: Well, you can never be too safe. And until kirsten is out of our lives, you’re gonna have to deal with it.

Sharon: You know, every time I hear a noise or I get a delivery, or my phone rings, I’m afraid. I know, it’s silly.

Nick: No. It’s not silly at all. Not with a monster like that on the loose.

Diane: In all the excitement of interacting with the outside world, I forgot my martini.

Jack: Kyle is forever forgetting his phone these days. I hope it isn’t inherited.

Diane: I would hate to think I passed down that trait.

Jack: Now, wait a minute. Where’d you just go now?

Diane: It’s– it’s nothing. I was just thinking that the night of the gala, kyle lost his phone in here, and that set off the whole chain of events that became a nightmare.

Jack: I’m sorry, I did not mean to bring all that up. That is over now. Good fortune is on our side from here on out.

Diane: And, I– I know, and I– I– I do feel fortunate. But jack, I just worry about what this has done to kyle and summer. I mean, I– I watch them, I listen, and they don’t seem to be connected. It’s like they’re living separate lives.

Jack: None of this has been easy for either of them. None of this has been easy for us. What with phyllis alive, and you out from under these charges, I’m hoping that life can get back to some semblance of normal. All of the stress will start to slowly go away and that will be better for everyone. Summer and kyle included. And we will be there for them, but until then, tonight, this is about you. About your courage, about your strength. It’s a celebration of you. So, where do we go now?

Diane: I think I’m going back to the bar to get my drink. I’ll be right back.

Summer: Oh, hey!

Kyle: Hey.

Summer: Let me help you with that. I was about to come find you.

Kyle: Yeah. Harrison and the nanny are out catching fireflies by the pool house.

Summer: Mmm.

Kyle: So nice seeing him excited and carefree and laughing. It’s almost as if the kid notices a burden has been lifted off of this house. Oh, uh, look, I’m sorry. I know it must be hard for you, celebrating a homecoming of sorts, knowing your mother’s still out there.

Summer: I need to go out.

Kyle: Again?

Summer: Yeah, I need to talk to daniel.

Kyle: Okay, can’t it wait ’til morning?

Summer: No, he just dropped off lucy at the airport, so he’s got time right now.

Kyle: Summer, it’s late. My parents will be home soon.

Summer: Look, things have been a mess between me and daniel. I mean, you’ve seen it. We’re so angry at each other and I know that my mom would hate that, so I just feel like while we’re waiting to see her, it’s– it’s one of the only things that we can do, is clear up the animosity between us. I mean, you can understand that, right?

Kyle: Look, I’m all for you resolving your issues with daniel.

[ Summer sighing ]

Summer: I’m sorry, I know that I’ve hurt you. The way that I’ve shut down and shut you out, and… I really am so sorry, I know… I believe that you’re on my side, even if I don’t deserve it.

Kyle: Why would you say that? Of course you do.

Summer: I love you.

Kyle: I love you, too. And I will always be on your side. And I will be waiting here when you get back. Unless you want me to come with you.

Summer: No! Uh… I mean you should– you should stay here and celebrate with your folks. I mean, your family is healing, and the least I can do is try to do the same for mine.

Sharon: I’m sure you have enough going on without babysitting me. You missed all those calls from sally. Is she okay?

Nick: Yeah, uh… news isn’t great. Apparently, sally’s at risk for pre-eclampsia.

Sharon: Nick, that’s serious.

Nick: I know. So she’s gonna scale back her work, and, uh, try and take it easy. A lot more rest. Get on the meds, and uh… lot of monitoring.

Sharon: Maybe you should go and be with her right now.

Nick: Ah, she’s home. She’s safe now. I’ll feel a lot better when I get you home. You know, with cameron kirsten on the loose, we all have to be on defcon one right now.

Sharon: Still can’t believe he approached faith, and it’s totally my fault.

Nick: Why would you say that?

Sharon: Because when cameron delivered that cigar box to the front porch, faith was there. I could have warned her, right then, what was going on, to be careful. Maybe then, she would have run the other direction when cameron approached her in the park. I thought that I was protecting her. I was… leaving her to be vulnerable.

Nick: Well, she knows now.

Sharon: I told her about everything that happened with cameron after you and chance left.

Nick: Well, I’m sure that wasn’t easy, but faith needed to know. She needed the truth. We all have to have our eyes wide open right now.

Sharon: Every time I open the door, I’m afraid I’m gonna run into another one of cameron’s sick gifts. And I have a feeling his head games are just getting started.

Diane: Thank you.

Cameron: Shouldn’t leave your drink unattended like that.

Diane: Excuse me?

Cameron: Your martini. It’s been sitting there for a while. You shouldn’t do that. Any kind of creep could come along, drop something in it. No one would notice. You got no idea what some people will do.

Diane: I think it’s okay.

Cameron: Just saying. You can’t trust anybody.

Diane: Well, I– I think I can trust anyone here. I come here all the time, with– with my husband, and between the two of us, we know everyone in this room.

Cameron: Do you know me?

Diane: Excuse me, I’m going back to the table with my husband.

[ Diane sighing ] Do you mind mixing another one of these for me?

Cameron: Smart move. Family is just very important.

Jack: So, you think this guy touched your drink?

Diane: Well, I– I don’t know, it was just kind of disturbing.

Jack: You didn’t recognize him at all?

Diane: Well, he looked familiar.

Jack: Incoming.

Diane: Mm-hmm.

Victor: How’d you do it?

Nikki: Yes, how did you do it, diane? I mean, michael is a good attorney, but even he can’t get you off on murder charges. You must’ve lied through your teeth to convince them to let you free.

Diane: Didn’t need to lie, nikki. I’m innocent.

[ Nikki scoffing ]

Jack: Summer!

Diane: What’s she doing here?

Victor: Join us, sweetheart.

Daniel: Thank you.

Summer: I know where she is.

Daniel: How is she?

Summer: She’s not turning herself in. I know that much. Not until we can be sure that she can get her life back.

Daniel: Okay. Okay, so, wh– what’s the plan? What do we do?

Summer: There’s no “we,” daniel. I told you that she’s safe. That’s all that you need to know. I’m handling this on my own, without your special brand of help.

Daniel: Is this you, mom?

Nick: The idea of that creep, cameron, being anywhere near faith, or you?

Sharon: Nick, promise me that you won’t do anything.

Nick: You mean like throw his ass out of an airplane again?

Sharon: You know I… blocked all those memories out, for years, but… lately, they’ve been coming back to me. I know that I was young and stupid, but I’m still ashamed of what I did.

Nick: You were confused. And hurt.

Sharon: My choices brought that madman into our lives. If you hadn’t saved me from cameron’s plane that night…

Nick: It all worked out. And we’re gonna beat him this time, too.

Sharon: I was terrified. I was afraid of you finding out what cameron did. I was afraid of going to the police, and it just made everything so much worse.

Nick: Yeah. When I found out what he did to you… I wanted to break him in half. But not this time. I’m so much smarter now, so we’re gonna– we’re gonna let the police handle it. Along with chance, they will make sure he ends up back in prison. Speaking of which, have you heard from chance?

Sharon: Uh, no.

Nick: Well, you know cameron’s not who he was either. He may have all his millions, but he’s got a record now. That means he’s not untouchable.

Sharon: You know what scares me?

Nick: What?

Victor: What do you mean, your mom’s alive?

Summer: She’s alive. She contacted daniel. She told him everything, that she was in this really vulnerable place and stark manipulated her into marrying him and then faking her death to frame diane for murder.

Nikki: Oh! Well, of course he did. He’s a very evil man.

Diane: Oh, really?

Victor: Where’s phyllis now?

Summer: I don’t know. She’s on the run. She’s the one that killed stark.

Nikki: My god!

Summer: It was self-defense! It was, I mean, mom realized what a huge mistake she mad and she wanted to come home, but stark, he wouldn’t let her. He attacked her and she had to– and now she’s just– she’s terrified. She’s afraid of the charges that she might be facing.

Nikki: This is unbelievable. I– I’m so sorry you have to go through this.

Summer: I have to hold on to the fact that my mom’s alive, you know? And for the rest of it, that’s why I’m here to see daniel. We’ve gotta figure out what– what comes next.

Victor: What comes next? So, the woman has the guts to come face you and your brother, and then face the music, the consequence of her actions.

Summer: Grandpa, it’s– it’s really complicated. I– look, I gotta go. I gotta go meet daniel, I’m sorry.

Nikki: Darling, if there’s anything that we can do, please call.

Victor: Okay, sweetheart.

Summer: Thank you. Thanks.

Nikki: Oh, poor summer.

Diane: Mmm.

Victor: This is stunning. Always alive, while letting her children think that she’s dead. They mourn over her. Who the hell would do that?

Diane: You know, it’s kind of ironic. Phyllis tried to frame me for murder, and yet, she actually committed one.

Jack: I’m sure you both came here for a peaceful drink together?

Victor: You bet.

Diane: Get your card. Good. Good night.

Phyllis: Ah, there you are. Come in.

Summer: How did you know that I was out there?

Phyllis: Finally! I’ve been waiting for hours, summer.

Summer: No, you have not been waiting for hours, and mom, I thought that we agreed that you wouldn’t text me when I would be with kyle.

Phyllis: Well, there are more important things than tiptoeing around kyle, summer–

Summer: Oh, because everything is about you right now?

Phyllis: No, it’s about you and your brother, actually.

Summer: It’s not about me and my brother. This is about you wanting to see daniel, right? But mom, we already had this conversation. I already told you. And I told you why you can’t see daniel, because if he saw you, if he knew where you were, he would go straight to the police, because he is all about the truth, and you would go to jail, so no, you can’t see daniel!

Phyllis: About that…

[ Knocking on door ]

Summer: Oh, my god, are you serious right now?

Phyllis: Might be too late.

Daniel: Hello?

Phyllis: Oh.

Summer: No, you’ve gotta be kidding me.

Phyllis: Okay, I didn’t want to make things worse.

Summer: How could it get any worse than it is right now?

Phyllis: You and your brother are at odds. This is my fault, summer. I had to take matters into my own hands.

Daniel: Hello?

Summer: I guess I’ll get it.

Nick: You know what? I don’t want to talk about cameron anymore. In fact, I’m going to proclaim this a cameron-free zone. So, let’s clean up this place, and then I will take you home. So what else can I do to speed up this process?

Nick: Sugar duty. Does that mean I get first pick of the day-old muffins?

Daniel: You could have ended this weeks ago at the memorial service, but instead, you let us grieve? You chose to walk away, you chose revenge over your family.

Phyllis: No. No, I was confused.

Daniel: No, the choice seems pretty clear to me.

Phyllis: Okay, listen. I admitted I’m wrong, okay? And I am. And you know what? The memorial service, that made me see how wrong I was, and I saw how important I was to you and your sister. And you drew that beautiful portrait of me. That gorgeous portrait of me just showed how much you love me.

Daniel: I painted that portrait memory because that was my way of trying to keep you alive. I mean, you were– you were there the whole time.

Phyllis: I know. I loved that portrait. But you know what it did for me? It made me realize how much you love me and it gave me strength. And you know what, babe? You know what? That’s why I couldn’t throw it away.

[ Piano playing ]

Jack: Hey. You okay?

Diane: Very.

Phyllis: Wow. Diane got out from under the charges. Amazing. Well, she got away with it again.

Daniel: She’s innocent. I mean, the person that she supposedly killed is very much alive. I’m– I’m standing here looking at her.

Phyllis: Diane is looking at a fairytale life and I am looking at a huge mess.

Daniel: A mess you created, mom.

Phyllis: I told you, I regret it.

Daniel: Do you regret it because what you did was wrong, or because your plan fell apart?

Summer: Daniel, can you just stop? We need to focus on what we do to get out of this that doesn’t involve telling the police that we know where mom is.

Daniel: Okay, no, no, no, no. The sneaking around needs to end.

Summer: Not with mom behind bars.

Daniel: So what do we do? We just don’t say anything?

Summer: Yes, for now.

Daniel: What about kyle?

Summer: My god, can you just leave him out of this?

Aren’t you a little curious about, I don’t know, maybe, um… how I’ve been, where I’ve been, what I’ve been doin’ 24 hours a day, day in, day out for the last 20 years? ‘Cause I’ve sure as hell been curious about you. Phyllis: So, christine put out an apb on me. Wow, she must be loving this. You know, she’s not gonna be happy until she sees me in handcuffs, walking into that police station with the cameras rolling.

Daniel: Well, you were pretty horrible to her back in the day.

Phyllis: I wasn’T.

Summer: Can we focus? We have another situation.

Phyllis: What is it?

Summer: I told grandma and grandpa that you’re alive, and about stark.

Phyllis: Summer! Victor and nikki? Why’d you do that?

Summer: Because they were downstairs in the dining room, and jack and diane were there.

Phyllis: Oh, really? Was diane having a victory meal? Was she– I mean, I shouldn’t feel bad because she’s living her life free and clear, blah, blah, blah, right?

Daniel: So you told them, but you didn’t tell kyle?

Summer: Daniel, you’re the one that already told everyone, so yeah, I just– I would rather them hear it from me.

Phyllis: So you know what this means, huh? I mean, victor is gonna get his personal security on me. I mean, they’ll find me immediately. I– I should just turn myself in.

Daniel: That would be the right thing to do.

Summer: Oh, my god, stop with the whole “right thing.” The right thing is to protect our mom until we can clear her of stark’s murder.

Phyllis: I agree with summer on that, daniel.

Daniel: Cool. Great. You agree with summer on that. Do you have a plan, then?

Phyllis: I actually do. So, I hacked in to all of stark’s personal records and accounts. I just need to find a paper trail to show what a horrible person he was. He was gonna keep me as a prisoner in that room, daniel. He was gonna keep me as a prisoner. Honestly, it was his life or mine!

Daniel: Did you have any luck with it?

Phyllis: I need to find the emt. His name is carson. That’s why we need all the help we can get.

Summer: Unless your conscience is gonna be a problem, daniel?

Daniel: Okay, look. Things are moving fast, so we need to get out ahead of them. First order of business, finding you a different place to hide. We need some place isolated, and some place that’s a hell of a lot safer than here. Summer. Any ideas?

Summer: I need to sleep on it. I’ve been gone for way too long, and you know what? I gotta go. I don’t want kyle to worry about me, so I’m gonna check in with you both in the morning.

Kyle: What the hell?

Cameron: Hey, slick. Long time, no see. I’m guessing you haven’t missed me about as much as I haven’t missed you.

Nick: You better get outta here before I tear you apart.

Sharon: Nick…

Cameron: Always a hothead. Hey. Nothin’ to see here, boss. Just stopped in to say hi. Hi. Hi. Oh. You know, I ran into your daughter, faith.

Nick: Now, you watch your mouth.
