After everything that’s going on in my life right now, I could really use a night out with my best friend. Okay, I’m just finishing up. I’ve been helping bobbie all day. It’s not fair that they’re making her pull double-duty as head nurse and chief surgical nurse. Ugh, well, hopefully, it won’t be long until they find a replacement for epiphany. Easier said than done. Well, that’s true. Those are some major shoes to fill. I’m not sure anyone can fill them. Anna? Yeah, it’s me. Listen, call me back, will you? Martin! Where’s anna? I don’t know. Actually, I’m here to see another client. Excuse me? Valentin, please don’t start, okay? You know I can’t discuss the details. Attorney/client privilege and all of that. Oh, uh, what are the others? Well, my wife knows now that I wasn’t the one who turned in drew and carly to the sec. Drew: Ned got us into this mess. Ned is gonna get us out of it. He’s had plenty of time to build government contacts, right? He’s got lots of favors owed to him, so if he still knows what strings to pull, he could probably get the sec off our backs. Why would ned do that? We just got to find the right leverage to use against him. That could get us out of this. Sure hope this works.

[ Monitor beeping ] Hey, you. Michael. What are you doing here? The doctor said I could sit with you. So… how you feeling? I’m exhausted. But at the same time, I’m so excited. This is why you told me that dex had a plan for getting out of sonny’s world. I know, josslyn. I know that dex was hired by michael to infiltrate sonny’s organization. I don’t understand. I thought my troubles had already been sorted out. Did board have second thoughts? I was present at the meeting. It was our quarterly review of personnel and open positions and the subject of epiphany recommending you to take over as head nurse came up. And? Well, monica gave the idea a ringing endorsement, but the board has to consider everything, including your record and how a promotion might affect the reputation of this hospital. Yeah, I see. And given how your credentials and reputation speak for themselves, it really was a no-brainer. Wait. What? Come on, stop torturing her. It was practically unanimous. The board voted to give you the position of head nurse.
[ Chuckles ]
Wait, are you guys sure about this? I was there when monica quartermaine made her recommendation. She cited your years of dedicated service as well as the letter of support epiphany wrote for you before she passed. I don’t even know what to say. I think you say, “when do I start?” Terry: Monica was called away on some important business. She really wanted to be the one to extend the offer. I hope it’s okay it’s coming from the chief of staff, not to mention your best friend. Um, excuse me, excuse me. The bff is a tier. It’s not a title. Okay. Guys, I can’t even wrap my head around this. I mean, a year ago, with my parents and all that drama, it was such a low point, but I got through it, and now I’m going to be head nurse. And I honestly couldn’t have done any of this without all of you. No, I’m pretty sure you could’ve, but I’m grateful to have played a part in it. I think we all are. Well, then, like portia said, when do I start? Provided the salary terms are agreed on and all the paperwork gets signed, you could start as soon as next week. Doesn’t make any sense. So if it’s not ned, I’m thinking maybe carly was a means to an end. To what end? Carly and I were together for a long time. She knows a lot about me. Things that the feds would want to know. I’m thinking it’s possible that it wasn’t an anonymous tip. The feds pointed the sec towards carly as leverage. Get carly to flip on me. But what about drew cain? Collateral damage. I must’ve been the target all along, and that wouldn’t be the first time the feds came after me through people that I care about. That’s the downfalls of this life, but there’s also benefits, ones that make it comfortable and easy for the people we care about. You just got to bend the rules a little bit, like when you punched that superior officer in the military. It’s not exactly my proudest moment, boss. Well, you got to be proud. You got to be proud, you know? I know he’s a superior, but you know what? He was an abuser. And the only reason he stopped is because you did something about it. That’s what we have in common. We do. But you did break my trust. Which, you know, may take a while to get that back. May not come back. Then why are you even wasting your time with me? Because I see great potential in you. I haven’t seen that in a long time. And I know I can give you what you want. What’s that? A place where you belong. But if you want to succeed, you’ve got to commit. You’re all in now. [ Door closes ] What’s the special occasion? I just got off the phone with hume. Pikeman is making arrangements for that second shipment we talked about. I said I would only continue as soon as pikeman figures out who ambushed me at the warehouse. Does he have answers? Not that they’ve relayed to me. If I’m being honest, I think that pikeman’s probably in the dark about who the sniper was, but admitting to that is probably not a good look for them. Neither is calling my bluff. Nina would love nothing better than for carly and i to be at odds, for carly to think you’re guilty, and for me to have to run around defending you. Well, all I care about is that you know I told the truth. I know. And I am so sorry that I ever doubted you. Well, that’s because I’ve given you reasons in the past to doubt me. But that’s all behind us now. I know that, too. Now what we have to focus on is making sure this conflict doesn’t tear our family apart, and I know exactly how we’re going to do it. Really? How? We’re going to find out who actually threw carly and drew to the wolves. How’s this, martin? Or would you rather go to my crimson office? Not unless you want to explain why you hired me. That’s why I came looking for you. I’m actually sorry we ran into valentin. I wanted to keep this off the record and as low-tech as possible in case my phone records and my computer are subpoenaed. You asked me to drop it, and all I want to do is make you happy, so… and I had every intention of destroying that evidence against sonny. Sure seems like we’re building up to a “but” here. But now my mom could use that evidence as leverage to set her and drew free. Josslyn: I want to save dex. I want to get him the hell away from sonny. I don’t want him trapped in this world. And I want to save you. You have this evidence. Make yourself a deal. Help drew. Scout can grow up with her dad, and donna can grow up with her mom. Josslyn, there are so many moving parts to this you don’t understand. And this bloodlust that you have toward sonny, it’s going too far. You have to stop. It’s too much. Is it? Yes. [ Chuckles ] I’ve seen firsthand how you can become disenchanted in that job. I much prefer patients over paperwork, so… that’s fair. Huh. If only we knew someone who got off on paperwork. Me? No, that’s a hard pass.
[ Elevator bell dings ] Think about it.
[ Sighs ] How you been? We haven’t talked much since the wedding. Yeah, well, things are complicated. Um, some of it isn’t really my place, you know, to say, but like I said, it’s, uh… complicated, right? Right. Yeah. Curtis moved back in… okay. …But we’re still — we’re just working things out. So I, honestly — I don’t really know. Maybe it’s foolish of me to think that we can salvage a relationship after it’s already been broken. But I’m holding out hope that we can. Yeah. I should have stressed to her the legal ramifications. Ignorance of law is not a defense. Where is this coming from? Why are you so suddenly determined to fall on your sword? Because this is ripping families apart. They’re trying to get carly to flip on her ex-husband. Sonny corinthos? Yeah. Okay, yeah, I can see the feds thinking that’s the way to go. Carly’s not going to turn on sonny, and then they’re going to try and pit me and carly against each other. This is not going to stop until somebody pays, okay? And the feds have made it very, very clear that between carly, sonny, and me, only one person has got to go down, and [Sighs] They’ve got such a big presence in their kids’ lives. And you’re not in your daughter’s life, drew? My role in scout’s life, it’s very different. Like, when I came back to port charles, she didn’t even remember who I was. Look, you just got to trust me, okay? This makes the most sense. Somebody has to go down, and it’s going to be me.
[ Voice breaking ] Sonny’s a criminal. I didn’t raise you to be this naive. Sonny’s world isn’t that cut and dry, and you used to understand that. What’s changed? Is it dex? No. I accepted the life that sonny was a part of. It’s the life that I was raised in. I grew up in that house. I bought into the fantasy that sonny uses his power for good. And I always believed that he would do right by you. He hasn’t been that man in a minute. Why should I believe his intentions now? Do you think I look at him and I see my happy childhood memories anymore? I look at him, and I see all of the pain that he’s brought to our family and all of the times that we’ve been caught in his crossfire. Not true, josslyn — really? It’s not? Okay, why don’t you tell that to dex or to willow? Actually, why don’t you go ahead and tell that to morgan?

[ Flash drive thuds, crunches ] Just stop.
Look, I wouldn’t be doing my duty as your lawyer if I didn’t advise you against turning yourself in to the sec. You don’t think that you can negotiate favorable terms? If the government can get a guilty plea without going through a lengthy and costly trial, maybe, but it’s definitely going to take some time. Okay. Okay. That’s all I need, alright? Just get the deal in place, but don’t finalize anything yet. I… I still have an ace up my sleeve that might make this whole thing go away. I assume I don’t want to know. Probably not. Right. Alright, I’ll see what I can do in the morning. Just keep in mind that even if the U.S. Attorneys agree on a deal, a federal judge can always overrule it if they deem it too lenient. [ Chuckles ] Forget something? You locked yourself out of your room. How do you know I didn’t leave it on purpose so you would track me down? Is that your pickup line? Because it needs some work.
[ Chuckles ] Well, we’re both here. Can I order us a nightcap? Oh, that is how we wound up in your room in the first place. How about a rain check? Sure. You have my number. You’re right. I do. Think about it, ned. It would go a long way towards mending some fences if we could actually find the guilty party. Oh. Olivia, I love your unswerving loyalty, but everyone seems to forget that drew and carly are the guilty parties. For all we know, it was some eagle scout accountant on drew’s payroll that tipped off the sec. And even if I proved my innocence, it doesn’t change the fact that drew and michael were so quick to crucify me. The level of distrust between us? I’m not sure we can bounce back from that. Certainly not enough for us to run elq together again. Or… you could be the bigger person. Find them the information that they need. That would turn down the heat a little, don’t you think? You told me the tip to the sec was anonymous. I know, I know. And if it had remained a financial matter, that would have been the case, but now that the fbi is using it to pressure carly to turn on sonny, that’s an entirely different situation. I never thought of that. Well, neither did I. Not that I think she would do it, but if carly does flip on sonny for any reason, it’s likely that both parties will try to find out who you are during discovery. You know what they say. All’s fair in love and war, especially when it comes to rico charges. Make arrangements for the next shipment. But I’m not going to let them unload one crate until we have a real conversation about what threat I am facing. Can you let them know that? Absolutely.
[ Exhales sharply ] Alright. Tony’s outside. You go ahead and — you go ahead and go. Okay. How’s — how’s anna? How’s she holding up? I wish I knew. Whatever carly decides to do with the information, that’s her choice, but it won’t be made out of anger or malice. It’ll all be out in the open. So whatever happens next, I support you and your family, just like you have all supported me throughout this fight with leukemia.
[ Monitor beeping ] Thank you.
[ Door opens ] I see somebody’s awake. How are you feeling, willow? Like I got my immune system wiped out and got shot up with someone else’s dna. Well, that’s a good thing because it means it’s working. I’m sorry, michael, but I do need to run a few tests. Oh, okay. Yeah. I’ll be outside. I love you. I love you, too. Mom, what did you just do? What I should have done the second michael gave it to me. Josslyn, I know what you’re going through. You’re lashing out at the people you love when they prove to you they’re human and they’re reckless with your heart. I get it. It’s a page out of the playbook I used to follow. Look, anna and I, we go back a long way. We don’t always see eye to eye, but we understand each other. When anna’s hurt, she doesn’t want to burden the people that care about her. There’s usually one in every relationship. Yeah, I get that. I’m just not used to being in a relationship where we’re both that person. By the way, I saw a very large and expensive ring on nina’s finger. Does that mean that you have good news to report?
[ Chuckles ] Yeah, that’s right. Good for you. Congratulations. She’s an amazing woman. You be good to one another. Hey, joss. What’s wrong? It’s over. There’s no way out for us now.
[ Elevator bell dings ] I know that life is hard on you lately, and you’ve become a little more cynical. That’s not fair. I’m not saying that as a criticism. No, I know that we can’t be all pie in the sky all the time. I married a tough businessman, not some aspiring rock star that you were years ago.
[ Chuckles ] But… I married a man who put family first. I’m just saying that maybe it’s possible that you’ve strayed away from that a little bit lately. And maybe it’s possible that it’s time to get back to that. I’ll think about that. I got to check in with the chef, make sure everything’s running smoothly. Why don’t you snag as a table out on the terrace? Oh, I think I can manage that. Mm.

[ Gasps ] Zeke: Hey. Oh, my goodness. What a great surprise. Good to see you. Oh, elizabeth, have you met my brother zeke? Finn: Wasn’t sure you’d come tonight. Elizabeth: You weren’t the only one. May I escort you? Sure you want to be seen with me? It’d be my honor. Tracy, it’s drew. Any chance you can circle back to the metro court? Why here? Well, because we have to do this away from the rest of the family. Uh, there’s an important matter that I need to discuss with you. Martin, I never would’ve come forward if I knew that my identity could be exposed — and, more importantly, that sonny could be hurt. Nina, it’s not a done deal. But I’d be lying if I didn’t warn you that you should at least prepare for the possibility.
[ Sighs ] Geez. Listen. Wait, wait, wait. This isn’t over. In the meantime, I give you my word that I will do everything I can to make sure that no one finds out it was you who tipped off the sec about drew and carly. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to get back to the office before anybody knows I’m gone.
