Talia walks through the town square with flowers and runs in to Belle. They greet each other and Belle asks about the flowers. Talia responds that they are for someone very special and she doesn’t know how she got this lucky..

Chanel’s phone lies nearby with a missed call from Talia as Chanel and Johnny kiss. Johnny talks about being taken by surprised and says he was determined to get her back after talking to EJ. Chanel jokes that he was heading for the door and she had to drag him back. Johnny admits he wasn’t sure how this was going to go and he misread her signals. Johnny talks about things being complicated for them which is why he thought she was telling him that she wanted to be with Talia. Chanel assures that it’s Johnny that she wants to be with as they continue kissing.

At the hospital, Jada questions Joyce about who hired her to kill Ava Vitali. Joyce swears that no one hired her and claims that she is a nurse and was there to treat Ava. Jada doesn’t believe her and warns that she can either go down for attempted murder or she can roll on whoever is paying her and maybe they can cut a deal but it’s her choice.

EJ talks to his contact at the hospital on the phone, questioning how long Jada has been in Joyce’s room. EJ tells him to make sure no one knows that he called him. EJ declares that it’s up to him now to shut her up.

Rafe and one of his cops go to the motel where Rafe explains that Harris was identified at the nearby pizza place from his photo and the desk clerk confirmed a man and woman in the room they approach. Rafe warns that Ava and Harris have both killed before, so he instructs him not to hesitate if he has to use deadly force. Rafe then kicks the door in and they enter with guns raised but find the room empty.

Tripp tells Wendy that he’s sorry they had to cut their night short. Wendy questions him apologizing when he just found out that someone tried to kill his mother. Tripp insists that he knows it was EJ and wonders where his mom is now. Tripp says he’s just going to drop his bag in his room and then go to the computer to see if there’s any news. Wendy says she will do the same and walks away. Tripp then heads in to this room and finds Ava and Harris inside.

Rafe and his cop search the room but find nothing. Rafe finds the pizza is still warm and remarks that it looks like Ava and Harris missed dinner and they missed them. Rafe finds their hospital ID bracelets and states that they cut them off and took off. Shawn then arrives so Rafe questions what he’s doing there.

Tripp hugs Ava and thanks God that she’s okay. Tripp asks her what happened. Ava explains that a nurse that she’s never seen came to inject her with something and she knows a hired gun when she sees one. Ava insists that EJ sent her. Wendy then comes in, shocked to see them. Tripp introduces Ava to Wendy and explains that Wendy was with him when they found out about them. Tripp adds that the police are hunting for them. Harris explains that they used the fire escape and the stairs to get in through the window. Tripp notes that they spoke to the police at the Salem Inn. Harris and Ava conclude that they should be safe for now.

Joyce claims to Jada that she doesn’t have a name to give her and that she’s never even held a gun. Jada brings up that Bayview has never heard of her and she’s not on the payroll. Joyce claims that she doesn’t work there as an agency sent her to cover for someone who was sick. Jada asks for the name of the agency. Joyce argues that Ava shot her and that her and Harris are in this together. Jada points out that they are on the run. Joyce argues that she has her all wrong and that she’s never seen Ava before in her life. Jada then brings up the burner phone they found on Joyce and reads the text message, asking if Ava is out of the picture yet. Jada then asks if Joyce is ready to talk.

Talia tells Belle that after all the bad stuff she did to Chanel, she feels so lucky to get a second chance. Belle says she’s happy for her. Talia says she’s been getting a lot of second chances lately and it all started when Belle became her lawyer. Talia talks about Marlena being great as her therapist and how Kayla got her a job at the hospital. Talia declares that now maybe her and Chanel have a future. Talia adds that she just called her about coming over but she hasn’t called back yet, so she’s trying to decide if she should wait or surprise her. Belle votes for surprise. Talia takes one of the roses and gives it to Belle to give to her husband. Talia thanks Belle for everything she’s done for her and walks on.

Rafe questions Shawn again what he’s doing here. Shawn says it’s a manhunt and he heard Rafe’s call for backup on the police scanner, so he figured he’d come see if he could help. Shawn asks about this being where Harris and Ava were holed up. Rafe informs him that the call for backup was for officers on duty and Shawn is off duty. Shawn argues that he’s here and they obviously came up empty, so he asks Rafe to give him an assignment. Rafe says he appreciates it but this is not a normal day for Shawn. Shawn remarks that nothing gets past him and questions what he’s supposed to do. Shawn complains that Victor is not coming back so he wants something to do. Rafe tells Shawn that it’s not a good idea because he’s drunk.

Johnny tells Chanel that he can’t believe he hasn’t been this happy in a long time. Chanel admits that she doesn’t know what she’s going to do about Talia because she really does like her, but it was never what they had. Johnny agrees that nothing has ever come close. Chanel says they are so lucky that this is happening now before things got serious with Talia. Chanel adds that she will have to let Talia down easy because she’s vulnerable right now. Talia then shows up at the door with roses.

Tripp assures Ava that she’s safe here for as long as she needs and anyone that comes to the door will have to go through him. Tripp asks how Harris figures in to this. Ava responds that if it wasn’t for Harris, she would be dead right now as he rushed the woman before she could get a shot off. Tripp recalls Harris showing up with an exploding pizza the last time he saw him. Wendy points out that the last time she saw him is when he showed up at Stefan and Gabi’s engagement party and tried to kill the groom. Harris states that he had been brainwashed and he’s just trying to move forward, so the only reason he’s here is to help Ava. Tripp asks if Ava really thinks going on the run is the smart idea. Ava then informs Tripp that EJ’s mother is alive.

Jada asks Joyce if the text message hit a nerve. Jada tells her to stop wasting her time and tell her who was behind the hit, then she will talk to the district attorney. Jada tells Joyce that all she has to do is tell her who ordered the hit on Ava Vitali. EJ then enters and instructs Joyce not to answer that question.

Shawn claims to Rafe that he’s not drunk. Rafe tells him that he can smell it on him. Shawn admits he had a couple drinks after the funeral but that won’t stop him from doing his job. Rafe orders Shawn to get out or he will take his badge and suspend him, warning that he’ll be out of a job. Shawn argues that he has a lot of nerve talking to him like that. Rafe reminds Shawn that he said he was going to get himself together. Rafe tells him to think about Belle and his daughter. Shawn agrees to go but Rafe points out that he’s in no shape to drive himself. Rafe then instructs the other officer to get Shawn home safely and says he has work to do.

Ava tells Tripp about her visions of Susan and how she was telling her that she wasn’t telling the truth about the accident. Ava says she didn’t understand until Harris had Marlena hypnotize her and she had a memory flash. Ava explains that she remembered before the crash, seeing Susan get out of the car and run away. Ava guesses she just blocked it out, but since remembering, she’s had more visions of Susan. Ava talks about Susan having strange psychic powers and appearing to her more than once. Ava thought it was a hallucination but now she’s convinced that it’s really Susan trying to reach out to her. Harris adds that they figured out from a reference Susan made that she might be in London. Ava says they need to go there to find Susan as it’s the only way to get EJ off her back. Tripp points out that she just escaped custody so he questions how she expects to get out of the country. Ava says that’s where Tripp comes in as he is her only hope.

Jada tells EJ that she was just having a little trouble convincing his friend to tell her who hired her to off Ava Vitali and suggests that he could help her with that. EJ asks if she’s implying that he’s her employer. Jada asks why else EJ would rush in to tell her to keep her mouth shut. EJ responds that he is her attorney.

Talia surprises Chanel with roses but then sees Johnny and says she didn’t mean to interrupt. Chanel says she’s not and that Johnny was just leaving. Johnny says he’ll see them around and exits. Talia excitedly tells Chanel about the flowers and guesses she missed her call, saying she wanted to come over because she just had to see her again because last night was so much fun. Talia suggests they could watch a movie or bake something together. Chanel stops her so Talia asks if something is wrong.

The cop escorts Shawn through the town square and says he was ordered to take Shawn home, but Shawn refuses to go and tells the cop to go away. Belle intervenes and tells the cop that she’s got this so he leaves. Belle tells Shawn that she didn’t know where he went and she tried calling him. Shawn explains that Harris and Ava escaped Bayview tonight and Rafe put out a call for backup, so he went to his location but Rafe told him to get lost. Belle questions Shawn wanting to work tonight like this. Shawn asks why everyone keeps saying that. Belle responds that it’s because he’s drunk.

Talia assumes Chanel already had plans and asks what it is. Chanel informs Talia that Johnny didn’t just stop by, he came to tell her that he still has feelings for her. Talia guesses it must not have been easy to let him down. Chanel reveals that she didn’t.

Shawn tells Belle that he’d like to just be able to have a couple drinks after a day like today without everybody freaking out. Belle argues that he knows why she and Rafe reacted this way since he’s been struggling and all the drinking isn’t helping anything but making it worse. Shawn tells Belle to try to understand what his life is like. Shawn complains about getting flashes of images of having a gun pointed at his dad and now he’s in a coma while his grandfather is dead. Belle gets that he blames himself but says that’s so wrong, sad, self destructive, and not true because he’s not to blame. Belle tells Shawn that if therapy isn’t working then maybe they should consider a residential facility. Shawn refuses and declares that he’s not an alcoholic. Belle wants him to be somewhere where he can work through this in a safe environment. Shawn questions if she’s saying he should be in a mental hospital. Belle cries that he needs more help than she can give him. Shawn argues that Belle can’t be honest with him.

Jada questions EJ being Joyce’s lawyer and says he has to be kidding. EJ says he’s a proud and active member of the BAR. Jada argues that he must be psychic because Joyce hasn’t been able to call a lawyer. EJ responds that he watches the news and he knows Joyce is a victim so he will stand by her in her time of need. EJ says the state chose to put Ava in a mental facility instead of prison after killing his mother and this shooting is the result of that. EJ says he doesn’t know why the police are harassing Joyce but promises to do everything in his power to get them off her back, if he has her trust.

Ava says they obviously need passports to get out of the country and can’t use their real names. Harris notes that he has contacts for that but it’s going to take awhile. Tripp agrees to be the person they deal with for that. Wendy asks what happens in the meantime. Ava says until they can get the passports, they need a place to hide out. Wendy calls that a problem since Li lives here too and he’s dating Melinda Trask. Harris agrees that’s a problem. Tripp adds that the cops will be asking questions so it’s not safe for them unless they can get the passports in the next couple of hours. Harris assures it will take longer than that. Wendy then declares that it won’t.

Jada asks Joyce if she’s going to take EJ’s generous offer. Joyce claims that she doesn’t know EJ but she’s in no position to be choosy so she asks EJ to get her out of this situation. EJ declares the interview is over and tells Jada to focus on Ava Vitali. Jada warns Joyce that she’s making a big mistake as she knows the holes in her story. Jada adds that the offer still stands in case EJ doesn’t have her best interests at heart. Jada then exits. Joyce tells EJ that Jada scares her. EJ says to leave Jada to him and assures that she did the right thing. EJ then asks Joyce to tell him why Ava Vitali is still breathing.

Wendy reveals that she can get the passports they need right here right now as she used to make fake IDs for underage teenagers. Harris points out that there’s a difference between drivers licenses and passports. Wendy responds that all she needs is an actual passport to doctor. Wendy and Tripp then reveal that they both have their passports. Tripp assures that if Wendy says she can do it, she can. Ava points out that they have no other options. Wendy asks them for names and settles on character names from her favorite movie. Wendy then takes pictures of Ava and Harris for their passports.

Talia guesses she walked in before Chanel could tell Johnny about them. Chanel says she did tell Johnny how she feels and she didn’t let him down. Talia starts to cry as Chanel explains that she wasn’t expecting any of this and she thought she and Johnny were just friends when she started seeing Talia. Talia guesses Chanel now wants to be more than friends with Johnny which she confirms. Chanel calls Talia a good person who has been through hell and still found a way to put her life back together. Talia tells her that she doesn’t have to give her a pep talk and that she should’ve known everything was going too well for her. Talia cries that it was too good to be true and she knows she doesn’t deserve Chanel. Chanel argues that she does deserve all the good things happening for her right now. Talia says just not Chanel. Chanel says she’s really sorry. Talia blames herself and remarks that she should’ve never told her how she felt as she storms out.

Belle asks Shawn when she lied to him. Shawn brings up Belle going to help Philip without even telling him that he was alive. Belle says that Chloe asked her to become Philip’s lawyer which meant she couldn’t tell anyone that he was back. Shawn complains that there are other lawyers but Philip wanted the one he slept with. Belle calls that ancient history. Shawn remarks that Belle cheats on him every time they have a problem and brings up the last person was EJ. Belle tells him not to do this. Shawn talks about how he’s supposed to get over Belle sleeping with EJ, just like putting Bo in a coma and his grandfather being dead. Belle asks if they can just go home but Shawn argues that she just said he should be a mental hospital. Shawn declares that he’s going somewhere where he won’t be judged for everything he does and feels as he storms off. Belle calls Shawn, leaving him a message to call her.

Talia goes to the Brady Pub and sits alone with a shot. Talia thinks back to her relationship with Chanel. Shawn enters and sees her drinking, so he asks to join her.

Johnny paces at the DiMera Mansion, telling himself that he knows what happened. Chanel then shows up at the door.

At the hospital, Jada tells Rafe about EJ showing up in Joyce’s room to say he’s her attorney. Rafe assumes she accepted which Jada confirms and that EJ told her to stop talking to her. Rafe questions when EJ ever did something nice for someone he didn’t know. Jada says they’ll get a warrant to check EJ’s phone to see if he sent the texts to the burner phone. Rafe says at least someone got somewhere tonight, since when he got to the motel, Ava and Harris were already gone. Jada states that they are going to be really hard to find as long as Ava still thinks she’s in danger from EJ. Rafe declares if they can’t find them, they’ll just have to track that bastard down themselves and he’s willing to work overtime on that.

Joyce informs EJ that Ava had help getting the gun from her as another patient got in the way. EJ acknowledges that other patient was Harris Michaels, a former Navy SEAL, so Joyce is lucky to be alive. EJ declares that if Ava thinks Harris will keep her safe from him, she’s in for a rude awakening.

Ava says this is not what she expected when they came here as Harris praises Wendy for the passports, calling them the best fakes he’s seen. Ava hates to say it but they should hit the road. Tripp points out the passports are great but they won’t help if EJ tracks them down. Tripp asks if they’re sure this is the right decision. Ava responds that she has to find Susan as everything changes once she does. Ava hugs Tripp and instructs him to tell the cops that he saw her but couldn’t stop her from leaving which is basically the truth. Tripp agrees to tell them that he has no idea where she is. Ava thanks Tripp and Wendy. Tripp tells Ava to come back safe. Ava assures that’s the plan and hugs him again. Ava and Tripp say I love you to each other. Ava thanks Wendy again. Wendy wishes her luck. Ava tells Harris that she’s ready as they then escape through the window.

Wendy and Tripp kiss in bed in their room at the Salem Inn. They talk about not even knowing what time it is and making up for the times they were interrupted. They continue kissing until Wendy asks if he’s sure this is okay to shut out the world and be alone here with her. Tripp assures that he’s more than sure. Tripp reminds her that he left his phone with Kayla and told her to only contact him if there’s an emergency and he hasn’t heard from her yet, so they continue kissing.

Paulina informs Chanel that Abe is taking her to the Bistro. Chanel guesses that means their second date went well. Paulina admits it went better than the first. Chanel notes that this is date number three so it’s a big one. Paulina talks about not moving too fast which is weird since Abe is her husband. Chanel jokes that if things go in that direction, she has her permission to go for it. Paulina says that’s enough about her love life and asks Chanel how it’s going with Talia

Jada finds Talia working at the hospital and tells her how excited she is to see her there as a doctor and adds that their dad would be so proud. Jada takes pictures of Talia in her uniform. Talia asks what brought Jada to the hospital. Jada informs her that she’s actually on the job as she came to question the woman who was shot by Ava Vitali.

Ava and Harris remain in the motel room they are hiding out in. Harris mentions that they are going to have to get some real food. Ava worries that it’s still not safe because EJ has people all over town. Harris asks if she’s sure it was EJ and not someone from her past. Ava assures that she got out of that life and there’s no doubt in her mind that it was EJ who sent that woman to murder her.

At the DiMera Mansion, EJ makes a phone call for an update on the woman who was shot at Bayview. He tells EJ that she’s still unconscious. EJ instructs the man to keep watch and call him when she opens her eyes. EJ then goes back to the article on his tablet and complains about Ava putting his hired gun in the hospital when she was supposed to put Ava in the morgue. Johnny then walks in and asks what has EJ so upset.

Wendy and Tripp get out of bed in robes and talk about waiting on room service. Instead, Rafe shows up at the door and says he’s sorry to interrupt but Kayla said he could find Tripp there. Tripp asks what it is. Rafe informs him that it’s about his mother.

Ava tells Harris that she knows EJ and one failed attempt won’t get him to call off his dogs and now the cops are looking for them too. Harris argues that they didn’t do anything. Ava points out that Rafe hates her and won’t believe a word she says. Harris suggests just calling EJ and telling him that his mother is alive but Ava worries that he won’t believe them as they have no proof that Susan survived the crash and her word means nothing to EJ. Ava declares the only way to get EJ to back off is to find Susan Banks and bring her home to him.

EJ tells Johnny that he was just reading an article about Ava escaping from Bayview and shooting someone in the process. EJ adds that none of this should surprise him since Ava is a dangerous criminal. Johnny argues that the judge sent Ava to Bayview for treatment. EJ says nothing can help her and that Johnny dodged a bullet by ending his association with her. Johnny asks where Ava is now. EJ informs him that she’s on the run and hopes that one of Rafe’s trigger happy minions will put her down like the rabid dog that she is.

Chanel tells Paulina that things with her and Talia are good with no complaints, but Johnny showed up and dropped a bomb on her by saying he still has romantic feelings for her and that he wants her back. Paulina jokes that Chanel is in demand. Paulina brings up that Chanel and Johnny were married so it’s not like just a crush. Paulina asks what Chanel said to Johnny. Chanel tells her that Talia came in before she had the chance to say anything. Paulina then asks what she would have said.

Talia informs Jada that the shooting victim is in critical but stable condition, though she has not regained consciousness yet. Talia offers to text Jada when she does Jada wants to wait. Talia notes that it could be awhile. Jada insists that she needs to be here as soon as she wakes up because she needs to find out who hired her to kill Ava Vitali.

Johnny hopes they can bring Ava in peacefully. EJ reminds him that Ava killed his grandmother and questions why he feels like Johnny is still defending Ava. Johnny argues that the judge ruled that Ava was not in control of her actions at the time of the accident. EJ argues that it wasn’t an accident and that the judge was delusional. Johnny states that he just hopes the police find Ava before anyone else gets hurt.

Rafe asks Tripp if he’s sure he has no idea where his mother is. Tripp says they have been here and he doesn’t have his phone. Tripp adds that he thought Ava was doing better after their last visit went so well but he can’t believe she shot someone. Rafe notes that they do have reason to believe it was in self-defense. Wendy questions if the person was trying to hurt Ava. Rafe explains that the person who was shot was dressed as a nurse but doesn’t work at Bayview. Tripp questions why. Rafe responds that the evidence suggests she went there to kill Ava.

Harris tells Ava that he’s going to see if he can get them some food, a burner phone, and maybe some other supplies, assuring that he’s good at moving around undetected. Ava notes that if he gets a phone, she can call Tripp as she’s sure he’s worried. Harris adds that it might be awhile before she can see Tripp again. Ava tells him to be careful and thanks him for saving her life and getting her out of Bayview when he could’ve left her to die because she’s not his problem. Harris responds that she’s not a problem at all and he’s just glad that he was there to help. Harris asks if she’s okay. Ava says it’s just the hero thing and tells Harris to be careful. Harris reminds Ava to lock the door and not open it for anybody as he then exits.

Jada brings Talia a coffee, which she says she could use to get through the rest of her shift. Talia acknowledges that not long ago, she almost threw away her career and her life. Jada encourages her doing what she loves. Talia adds that she’s also seeing someone new that she really likes. Jada asks if she and Chanel are a thing. Talia responds that it’s becoming one and it seems like they have another chance to have something really special.

Chanel reminds Paulina that she needs to get to dinner but Paulina wants an answer as to how Chanel feels about Johnny. Chanel admits she doesn’t know as she thought what they had was over, they had moved on, and even found a way to be friends. Paulina assures that she supports whatever decision she makes and that she’s willing to accept Talia even after what she did to her, her family, and the Bakery as she knows how hard she’s worked to turn her life around. Chanel guesses that Paulina would rather see her with Johnny. Paulina admits that she’s always had a soft spot for Johnny and she knows how happy he made her so part of her was rooting for them to find their way back, but this isn’t her decision. Paulina feels she’s still avoiding the question. Chanel says the whole thing kind of makes her mad and questions why Johnny had to drop this on her right when she’s starting a new relationship. Chanel knows it’s new but says she really likes being around Talia and adds that Johnny had said he wanted to be with Wendy. Paulina points out that Wendy chose Tripp. Chanel questions how she doesn’t know this is a rebound. Paulina says she doesn’t have to make a decision now but Chanel feels she does as she has had enough of being a part of a love triangle. Chanel adds that hanging isn’t fair to Talia or Johnny. Paulina asks what she’s going to do and who she is going to choose.

EJ tells Johnny that’s enough about Ava. EJ brings up that when they last spoke, he was going to tell Chanel about his feelings for her. Johnny confirms that he did so EJ asks what she said. Johnny says she actually said nothing since as soon as he told her, Talia showed up and he did not want to have the conversation in front of her, so he left. EJ questions what the hell he’s doing here then and instructs Johnny to go demand an answer from Chanel as to whether or not she wants to be with her. Johnny responds that he’s not going to do that.

Wendy tells Tripp to let her know if he needs her as she goes to get changed. Tripp asks Rafe about the woman that Ava shot. Rafe says she was taken in to surgery and survived but she’s been unconscious so they have not been able to question her. Tripp asks if Ava just slipped out of Bayview after. Rafe notes that she had some help from Harris Michaels as they saw him walking out on the security footage. Rafe adds that Ava escaping doesn’t help her case so he came to ask if he heard from her but clearly he hasn’t. Tripp agrees to let Rafe know if he hears anything and assumes that he’s already investigating who sent the woman to kill Ava. Rafe feels he sounds like he knows who it is. Tripp believes it’s obvious that it’s EJ DiMera.

Ava paces in her room, telling herself that Harris will be fine as he’s done this before and knows how to take care of himself. There’s then a knock at the door which startles Ava but when she opens it, no one is there. Ava then shuts the door and imagines Susan Banks inside with her, asking if she missed her. Ava questions if she’s dead or a ghost or really alive, but then her vision of Susan disappears. Ava then is startled when her vision of Susan reappears behind her. Ava talks about thinking she was hallucinating because she felt so much guilt over Susan’s death but now she knows she doesn’t need to feel guilty because she saw Susan stumble away from the burning car before the explosion. Ava questions if Susan is using her psychic powers to appear to her and asks where she is, so she can find her to keep EJ from trying to kill her again.

Rafe acknowledges the bad blood between Ava and EJ. Tripp insists it’s more than that since EJ blames Ava for his mother’s death. Tripp adds that he just ran in to EJ yesterday and told him that Ava was doing so much better that she might even be let out of Bayview which he was not thrilled by. Rafe asks if EJ made a direct threat. Tripp argues that EJ wouldn’t tell him that he’s hiring someone to kill Ava. Rafe hopes the woman wakes up soon so they can get answers from her. Tripp asks if he will go after EJ. Rafe promises that if there’s any evidence implicating EJ in a plot to kill Ava, they will find it.

EJ questions Johnny giving up. Johnny says he’d rather that than make a fool of himself. EJ assumes that he’s not that crazy about Chanel then. Johnny assures that he is. Johnny adds that he and Chanel would probably still be together now if the Devil didn’t come between them. EJ questions Johnny letting Chanel take her time in letting him know what she wants. Johnny states that he put himself out there and opened his heart to her, so if Chanel wants to give him another shot, she knows where to find him.

Talia tells Jada how thankful she is for second chances and acknowledges that she almost destroyed Chanel’s business and targeted her family, but she somehow seems to forgive her after all that. Jada asks if Talia is sure she’s ready to date again after Colin put her through hell. Talia talks about putting her life back together and she didn’t know she wanted to be with a woman, but now she has no doubts that she wants to be with Chanel and she feels so lucky that Chanel wants to be with her too.

EJ tells Johnny that Stefano would tell him that DiMeras don’t leave their fate up to others and they don’t leave things up to chance. EJ urges Johnny not to wait for Chanel to come to him. Johnny then gets a call from Chanel and says he was just thinking about her. Chanel asks him to come back over as she’s been thinking about what he said and he deserves a response in person. Johnny says he’ll be right there and hangs up. Johnny tells EJ that he’s going to find out if Chanel wants to be with him or with Talia. EJ tells Johnny to make his own luck as he exits the mansion.

Paulina hugs Chanel and goes to leave right as Johnny arrives. Paulina says it’s good to see him. Johnny notes that she looks nice. Paulina thanks him and says she has a date with her husband. Paulina adds that Abe may not remember her but the kind of love that they shared never really goes away. Johnny agrees and hopes it goes well. Paulina tells him to take care as she then exits. Chanel thanks Johnny for coming as she had some time to think about what he said. Johnny encourages her to take as much time as she needs since he knows he caught her off guard. Chanel brings up that she started seeing Talia and she really likes her. Chanel says before Johnny came over, she was really looking forward to seeing where things would go. Johnny asks what about now.

Jada tells Talia that she’s really proud of her and getting her life back. Talia gets paged that the patient is awake. Talia tells Jada to let the doctor check her out and then she can go get her answers.

EJ remarks that Ava better hope the police find her first, because one way or another, his mother will be avenged.

Ava complains to her vision of Susan that EJ sent a woman to kill her to avenge Susan’s death, only they know that Susan isn’t really dead. Ava asks her to tell her where she is so that she can prove it. “Susan” asks why she should help her when she drove her off the cliff. Ava apologizes and says she wasn’t well at the time but now they can help each other. Ava talks about Susan being a kind and compassionate person while her vision of Susan calls her one of the meanest people she knows. Ava promises that she just wants to reunite Susan with EJ so they can all just move on. Ava asks where she is. “Susan” responds that it’s not where she thinks. Harris then comes back and asks what Ava is doing. Ava tells him that Susan was there but her vision disappears.

Rafe gets a text that he has to go follow up on a lead. Rafe tells Tripp that if he hears from Ava or Harris, to tell them to turn themselves in. Rafe adds that they left Bayview with a gun which means his people have to consider them armed and dangerous. Rafe then exits the room.

Harris questions Ava believing that Susan projected herself in to her mind. Ava thinks Susan has been trying to reach out to her this whole time. Harris questions why Susan wouldn’t contact EJ or her family if she’s really out there. Ava asks who knows and says Susan is not logical. Ava adds that Susan kept saying she was stuck in the big smoke, but she saw her leave the car. Harris notes that Big Smoke is an old nickname for London so maybe Susan is trying to give her a clue as to where she is. Ava questions it but Harris says it’s all they have to go on. Ava questions if they were able to get to London without being caught, how they would find Susan in a big city. Harris says he has contacts with fake passports and travel arrangements, then they’ll just have to figure it out when they get there. Ava guesses they are going to London then, noting it’s too dangerous here as cops could be kicking down the door any minute.

Talia walks through the town square with flowers and calls Chanel, leaving a message that she went to the Bakery to see her but it’s closed so she was going to Paulina’s as she has something special for her.

Johnny guesses Chanel wants to give it a shot with Talia and says he understands. Chanel stops him and says she did want to see where things went from Talia, until Johnny said he wanted to see where things could go with them. Chanel talks about their connection and says she has suppressed her feelings for him for awhile because she wasn’t hopeful they would be returned. Chanel adds that so many things got in the way of them being able to make it work, but now those feelings are anything but suppressed. Johnny and Chanel then kiss. Chanel’s phone lies nearby with a missed call from Talia.

EJ pours a drink and toasts the portrait of Stefano to Johnny getting his heart’s desire. EJ then gets a phone call from his hospital contact, who informs him that his patient just woke up and the police are questioning her as they speak.

Jada enters Joyce’s hospital room and introduces herself, noting she’s glad that she made it through surgery. Joyce responds that she’s still a little out of it though. Jada states that she will let her rest as soon as she tells her who hired her to kill Ava Vitali.

Wendy tells Tripp that she can pack the food and they can eat on the way home. Tripp is not sure he can eat right now while worried about Ava. Wendy encourages that Ava is a survivor. Tripp is not sure who he’s more worried about finding her, EJ or the cops. Wendy points out that Ava has Harris Michaels with her, so he will protect her. Tripp is not so sure about that. Tripp brings up that not that long ago, Harris tried to kill his whole family with an exploding pizza.

Rafe and one of his cops go to the motel where Rafe explains that Harris was identified at the nearby pizza place from his photo and the desk clerk confirmed a man and woman in the room they approach. Rafe warns that Ava and Harris have both killed before, so he instructs him not to hesitate if he has to use deadly force. Rafe then kicks the door in and they enter with guns raised.

Brady and Alex walk out of a restaurant through the town square. Alex complains about the waitress messing up their order and remarks that at this rate, all the guests at Victor’s memorial are going to be gone by the time they get back. Alex notes that may not be a bad thing as he doesn’t know how much longer it’s going to last. Brady adds that he can’t believe Theresa came to town to pay her respects to Victor. Alex asks if it’s really that terrible that she did. Brady suggests it’s time they have a little chat about Theresa.

Theresa walks past the Brady Pub and stops to think back to Brady turning her down. Stephanie then walks up, surprised to see her as she didn’t know she was back. Theresa says she just got back yesterday. Stephanie says she’s glad to see her. Theresa remarks that she’s probably the only person who is. Kayla then comes out of the Pub and says that’s not true as she hugs Theresa. Kayla asks what brought her to Salem. Theresa responds that she’s here for Victor’s funeral. Kayla brings up Theresa and Victor always hating each other. Theresa says no matter what, Victor always loved Tate. Stephanie guesses Brady must have really appreciated her being there. Theresa informs her that Brady actually treated her like dirt and accused her of crashing the somber occasion to get closer to him. Kayla then asks if he was right. Theresa admits maybe he was, but it didn’t matter because he made it clear that he wants nothing to do with her. Kayla says she’s sorry to hear that but informs her that she saw Kate inside and found out that Theresa would not be the most vilified funeral crasher of the day as that would be Vivian Alamain.

After Vivian declares that she is inheriting everything from Victor, Bonnie asks if this is some kind of joke. Vivian reiterates that her and Victor’s divorce was never finalized. Justin argues that if it wasn’t, Victor could have never legally married Maggie which Vivian says proves her point. Maggie asks where her proof is. Vivian responds that she doesn’t have a divorce certificate. Bonnie accuses her of tearing it up but Vivian insists she never got it. Justin mocks taking Vivian’s word. Vivian says there is no choice. Maggie declares that she will fight her with everything she’s got and she will make her pay for desecrating Victor’s funeral.

Sarah holds her baby and thanks her for making her a mom again. Rex notes Sarah shivering. Chloe goes to get another blanket. Xander takes the baby and holds her. Sarah thinks back to telling Rex that the baby is Xander’s. Sarah starts to say there is something he should know. Xander notes that Sarah is really pale. Rex asks if Sarah is alright. Sarah responds that she doesn’t know and passes out. Xander asks what’s happening. Rex notes that her pulse is rapid and they have to get her to the hospital now. Chloe says she’ll call an ambulance but Rex says it will be faster to drive themselves. Rex sends Chloe to get his car. Xander encourages Sarah and she opens her eyes. Xander tells her to stay with them because her baby needs her. Sarah asks him not to let anything happen to her baby again. Xander says the baby is fine and it’s Sarah they are worried about now. Sarah tells Xander that if anything happens to her, make sure he takes care of their girl. Sarah then passes out again.

Brady questions if Alex was seriously thinking about going out to dinner with Theresa when she asked. Alex says no, then says maybe but not if Brady still has feelings for her. Brady assures that he and Theresa are history, so if Alex wants to go out with her, that’s his business, but there are some things he needs to tell him about her first.

Theresa questions Vivian being here and not in prison. Kayla reveals that she was apparently released. Theresa points out that Vivian wasn’t at the funeral. Kayla explains that Vivian showed up afterwards and that Kate said she came to see if she got anything from Victor’s will, as if he would leave anything to the woman who tried to kill his wife…

Justin tells Maggie that he will call the county clerk to get a copy of the divorce decree. Maggie tells Vivian that she can’t accept that Victor loathed her. Vivian argues that Maggie can’t accept that Victor destroyed his will and their divorce was never finalized. Maggie calls her delusional. Justin informs them that the call went to voicemail so he will go to the courthouse himself and then they will send Vivian packing. Vivian says they’ll see about that. Vivian questions where the food is. Maggie wonders where everyone is and decides she’s going to go find Sarah. Bonnie doesn’t want Maggie to leave her alone with Vivian. Chloe then comes back in and is shocked to see Vivian there. Maggie asks Chloe what’s wrong and where Sarah is. Chloe announces that Sarah is at the hospital as she went in to labor right outside and it all happened do fast. Chloe adds that she had a baby girl. Maggie asks if they are both okay. Chloe says the baby is fine but Sarah had some bleeding, so she will take Maggie to the hospital. Vivian remarks that she’ll pray for her as Maggie exits with Chloe. Vivian then starts talking about what she’s going to change in the mansion.

Rex and Xander arrive at the hospital with Sarah and the baby as Kayla asks what happened. Rex explains that Sarah went in to labor and it all happened fast so he delivered the baby right there. Rex adds that the baby is fine but Sarah was bleeding so Kayla sends him to get Sarah in a hospital room and says she’ll be there right after getting the baby in pediatrics.

Theresa and Stephanie sit together in the Brady Pub. Theresa mentions this being her second time in the Pub today after Brady told her not to come to the reception and to hang out with her own family which Stephanie calls rude. Stephanie says at least she missed all the chaos with Vivian. Theresa jokes that she likes chaos. Stephanie recalls a time they went to a Miley Cyrus show but didn’t have tickets. They talk about how much they’ve missed each other. Stephanie asks when she is going back to California. Theresa responds that she doesn’t know as she had a flight for tomorrow afternoon but she’s thinking about sticking around for awhile.

Brady tells Alex that he and Theresa love their son Tate, and admits that Theresa is a great mom as their son brings out the best in her but she has an incredible talent for finding trouble. Alex mentions that Theresa said something about that earlier. Alex says it’s fine with him as that’s something they both have in common.

Xander paces at the hospital and thinks back to being with Sarah in the hospital after she gave birth the first time. Kayla comes over, so Xander asks how Sarah is. Kayla says she can’t give him any medical information because he’s not family. Maggie and Chloe then arrive. Maggie tells Kayla that she is family and that Xander and Chloe can hear anything she has to tell her. Kayla reveals Sarah’s condition causing the placenta to not fully detatch after labor. Kayla explains that she was not in good shape when she came in but she has regained consciousness and thinks she will make a full recovery which relieves Maggie as she hugs Xander.

Stephanie is glad to hear that Theresa might be sticking around Salem. Theresa tells Stephanie about her plan to move on and mentions a really hot guy at the funeral who flirted with her. Theresa then reveals that it’s Alex Kiriakis which shocks Stephanie.

Brady tells Alex that his idea of trouble is like sleeping with Allie and busting up her relationship with Chanel while Theresa’s idea of trouble is hitting John over the head with a fireplace poker and nearly killing him or getting kidnapped in Mexico for 2 years with a Mexican druglord. Alex sees what he means. Brady notes that it’s better to stay on Theresa’s good side. Justin walks up so they greet him. Alex asks if he had given up on them yet and explains their order getting messed up. Brady mentions texting Maggie but not hearing back. Justin responds that Maggie is dealing with a situation. Justin reveals that Vivian Alamain got out of prison and showed up at the funeral reception. Brady is shocked and complains that it’s not what Maggie needs right now. Justin adds that Vivian was going on about what Victor would leave for her in his will but then he found out that Victor had his will destroyed. Justin assumes Victor meant to file a new one but died before he could. Alex asks what that means. Justin responds that Victor’s surviving spouse inherits everything. Alex jokes that at least Maggie wouldn’t let Brady get disinherited. Justin reveals it’s a little more complicated that as Vivian is claiming that Victor and Maggie’s marriage was invalid because Victor’s divorce from Vivian was never finalized. Brady asks what he’s saying. Justin responds that he doesn’t believe it’s true, but if it is, then Vivian Alamain will be the sole heir of the Kiriakis Empire.

Bonnie warns Vivian that she’s watching her and says she’s onto her as she knows what her con is. Bonnie talks about Vivian magically getting released from prison on the day of Victor’s funeral and shows up uninvited asking about the will which no one can find. Bonnie tells Vivian that Justin will find out what a greedy liar she really is. Vivian accuses Bonnie of using her resemblance to Justin’s dead wife to get a ring on her finger. Bonnie argues that she doesn’t care about Justin’s money and that she loves him, questioning why that’s so hard to understand. Vivian calls it the same way that she loved Victor. Vivian cries that she misses him terribly.

Rex announces that Sarah just got the okay to see visitors so she asked to see Maggie and the baby. Maggie tells him that Kayla just went to get the baby. Rex then takes Maggie to see Sarah. Chloe and Xander are relieved that Sarah is okay. Kayla brings the baby over and says she has a clean bill of health. Kayla gets paged to the ER so Xander offers to take the baby to Sarah which Kayla allows.

Rex brings Maggie in to see Sarah and asks if she’s in any pain. Sarah responds that she just wants to see her baby. Rex says he’s sure Kayla will be there any minute. Xander then enters and informs them that Kayla was called away to the ER, so he brings the baby to Sarah. Xander congratulates Rex and says he sees a little of Rex in the baby. Maggie calls her beautiful. Sarah thanks Xander. Xander says he’s just glad they are okay and goes to leave but Sarah stops him and says she has something important she wants to say. Sarah talks about the importance of family. Sarah wanted Xander to hear this because he knows how much Victor meant to him. Sarah talks about her and Rex coming up with names but she’d like to do something different which Rex says he’s fine with. Sarah names the baby Victoria Margaret after Victor and Maggie. Xander calls the name fit for a princess and says that Victor would be so honored. Maggie asks if that’s all Sarah wanted to say. Sarah confirms that’s all and says they are just going to sleep for a couple hours while she knows Maggie has the reception. Maggie says she really should get back, although God only knows what’s waiting for her.

Vivian complains that Bonnie probably thought she had no feelings but this is not the first time she cried over Victor. Bonnie talks about Victor having that effect on people. Bonnie and Vivian start to talk about their time in prison as Bonnie asks Vivian to catch her up with what’s been going on.

Theresa asks Stephanie if she knows Alex. Stephanie reveals that they sort of had a thing. Theresa apologizes if she’s still in to him but Stephanie assures they are just friends as she’s very happy with Chad now. Stephanie adds that her idea of staying here to move on with someone she doesn’t really know who happens to be Brady’s cousin. She asks if Theresa isn’t just doing it to make Brady jealous.

Brady and Alex sit together in the town square. Alex asks if he really thinks Victor’s marriage to Maggie was invalid. Brady argues that Vivian is always running some sort of scam so he’s sure Justin will figure it out. Brady doesn’t know why Victor would destroy the will. Alex suggests maybe he wanted to disinherit him, Shawn, or Xander. Brady talks about the mysterious trip Victor took and then calling his lawyer on his way makes him think they are related. Alex wishes there was a way they could find out more. Brady suggests maybe there is.

Theresa laughs off the idea of trying to make Brady jealous. Stephanie warns that Alex can be a lot. Theresa jokes that she can be too and asks for Alex’s number.

Brady tells Alex that nobody knows where Victor was headed when his plane went down in the Mediterranean and he was going to look in to it but had no idea where to start looking, but if his attorney talked to him then maybe he knows something. Brady decides he will call the attorney and find out.

Xander returns to Sarah’s room with a candle and says he knows Victoria’s too young for it but the gift shop was out of stuffed animals so he figures it’ll be more for Sarah. Sarah calls it lovely and thanks him. Xander adds that he remembered earlier Sarah said she had something to tell him before she passed out, so he asks what it was. Sarah responds that she doesn’t remember. Xander guesses it wasn’t important then. Sarah says she doesn’t think it was.

Maggie returns home to find Bonnie and Vivian laughing over their prison time together. Bonnie asks about the baby. Maggie confirms the Sarah and the baby are fine, adding that they named the baby Victoria. Vivian calls that lovely but remarks that baby Victoria will not be inheriting any of Victor’s money. Maggie tells Vivian to just go home. Justin then comes home and announces he can’t believe it but he double and triple checked it. Justin then confirms that Vivian is telling the truth that Victor and Maggie were never legally married. Vivian declares that she will inherit every penny that Victor ever made.

Brady finishes his phone call with the attorney which Alex notes wasn’t long. Brady says the attorney wouldn’t give him any information but he did share that Victor called from Greece. Alex knows the plane went down over the Mediterranean but Bo had already been moved from there, so he wonders what Victor was still doing in Greece. Brady suggests maybe they just need to go to Greece and figure this thing out themselves. Alex agrees but then gets a call from Theresa, who asks if they can set their dinner date. Alex says he would love to but he’s going out of town. Theresa notes that he didn’t mention that earlier. Alex calls it last minute as he reveals he’s going to Greece with Brady.

Xander returns to Chloe at the hospital. She asks if he’s okay as she knows he still cares about Sarah and today has been a lot. Xander admits he couldn’t stop thinking about what happened with baby Mackenzie and how he ruined everything for her. Chloe assures this is nothing like that. Xander agrees since Victoria is healthy with a long life ahead of her. Xander adds that this time there’s no question whose baby it is as she is definitely Rex and Sarah’s…

Rex tells Sarah that Victoria does look like her. Sarah worries about if she was the splitting image of Xander and jokes that they can’t really tell when she’s only a couple hours old. Rex admits he thought for a minute that Sarah was going to tell Xander that he was the father. Sarah confirms that she almost did as she was overwhelmed with gratitude and guilt but then all her memories flooded back and the pain of bonding with a child that wasn’t hers and never getting to say goodbye. Sarah knows that Xander was trying to do the right thing back then but he just made everything so much worse and that’s who he is. Sarah worries that if he knew Victoria was his, she’d be signing up for a lifetime of pain and she can’t put herself through that. Sarah thanks Rex for everything and says that Victoria is so lucky to have him. Rex responds that he’s so lucky to have the both of them, but asks if she’s sure she’s not second guessing any of this. Sarah assures that she’s not as she knows the agony of having a child ripped away and she would never do that to him. Sarah declares that’s why she knows she made the right choice.

Vivian guesses it’s settled. Maggie asks Justin if he’s sure. Justin responds that he’s sorry but there is no legal remedy to this. Vivian decides she won’t be leaving then and then tells them to pack their belongings and get the hell out of her house.

Marlena meets with the hospital John Doe in her office. He asks if she’s figured out the cause of his memory loss. She informs him that the MRI showed a past skull fracture but the good news is that he’s in excellent health. He guesses she can’t do anything for him. Marlena says she didn’t say that. He gets up and says he has a job to do as he has to find his son.

Outside the Kiriakis Mansion, Rex asks Sarah if she’s ready to go because Maggie is probably wondering where she is. Chloe tells Xander that they should get going as well. Sarah then stops and announces that her water just broke. Rex sits Sarah down and guesses they aren’t getting married before the baby is born. Xander thinks back to questioning Sarah about her pregnancy.

In the living room, Maggie tells Bonnie, Justin, Philip, and Kate how much it means to her that they are there for her. Bonnie says they will be there as long as she needs. Kate comments that out of all of Victor’s wives, she believes Maggie brought out the best in him. Kate calls Maggie the perfect match for Victor. Vivian Alamain then appears and remarks that it’s a matter of opinion, shocking the room. Maggie tells Vivian that she’s not welcome here. Kate adds that she’s not welcome anywhere. Maggie tells Vivian that she wants her out of her house now. Vivian responds that she is here to stay.

Marlena stops and tells the man that her husband John would like to talk to him because he’s been looking in to his background. Marlena asks him to wait. He complains that he feels he’s been waiting for an eternity already and he has no more time to waste. John then arrives. Marlena introduces him to John. He asks if John has any sign of his son. John says not yet, but he does know who Joseph Bell is. John explains that he and his partner just learned that he recently discharged himself from a VA hospital and the man in charge gave them his dogtags which John presents to him. He reads the name “Joseph Bell” and says if he says so. John acknowledges him having a hard time remembering but says he did come up with other information to jog his memory. John brings up Joseph serving in the Korean War. Joseph brings up Julie mentioning her uncle Tommy being in the Korean War and how that rang a bell. Marlena suggests they all sit down, so they do. Joseph asks John to tell him more. John talks about the platoon he was serving in Korea. John calls it an incredible coincidence but reveals that Joseph was in the same unit as his biological father, Timothy Robicheaux. He notes that it does sound familiar and asks to be told all about him.

Kate questions what the hell Vivian is doing here. Vivian responds that she came to pay respects to the love of her life. Justin argues that she is supposed to be in prison and assumes she was furloughed for the funeral. Maggie questions why since she isn’t family. Vivian calls Philip her son and hugs him. Kate argues that Vivian stole her embryo but that doesn’t mean Philip is her son. Vivian argues that Kate will never share the bond she and Philip have. Bonnie questions where Vivian’s guard or ankle monitor are if she was furloughed and guesses she must have escaped, so she instructs Maggie to call the police. Vivian declares that she was released on good behavior. Kate argues that she hasn’t gone a day in her life without breaking at least four laws. Vivian asks if they can just enjoy the good times for Victor’s sake. Maggie brings up Vivian trying to kill her and all her other crimes. Maggie says she should not be on the streets and she doesn’t want her in her home. Vivian felt they wouldn’t believe her so she shows the papers for her release. Justin confirms that it looks legit. Maggie tells Vivian that if Victor were here, he would say “get the hell out of my house, now”.

Rex checks on Sarah. Chloe offers to time her contractions. Xander says he will bring the car around to get her to the hospital. Sarah tells Rex that she feels like she needs to push now. Xander has a flashback to helping Sarah give birth in the past. Sarah then declares the baby is coming now.

Justin tells Maggie not to let Vivian get to her and that they will handle this. Vivian argues that Victor cherished hospitality, so Maggie is desecrating his memory. Bonnie says that Vivian is the one doing that. Vivian calls her “Adrienne”. Bonnie then clarifies who she is. Vivian calls Bonnie the gold digger who married Mickey Horton. Justin warns Vivian to watch how she talks to his wife. Vivian mocks Justin trading in Adrienne for a carbon copy. Maggie holds Bonnie back and argues that Vivian is the gold digger, who went after Victor three times. Vivian argues that they went after each other because they were soulmates. Vivian then flashes back to past arguments with Victor. Kate, Bonnie, and Maggie all agree that Vivian needs to go now but Vivian threatens to break one of Maggie’s figurines.

Rex sends Chloe to get his medical bag from his car. Xander worries about Sarah being too soon to give birth. Rex sends Xander to get towels and blankets. Sarah cries about her last birth while Rex promises that she’s with a real doctor and nothing will go wrong. Sarah worries about not being in a hospital. Sarah adds that she’s in so much pain and asks what if she slips and tells Xander that he’s the father.

John tells Joseph that he wishes he could tell him more about his father but he was adopted and spent most of his life not knowing who he was. John explains that eventually he learned that he was born John Robicheaux and that when he found his father, he had changed his name to Yo Ling and he was nothing but evil. Marlena asks if this is beginning to sound familiar. He repeats the name Timothy and has flashbacks to the war. He recalls being injured by an explosion and thinking another man was coming to help him but he stole his dog tags. John says he’s sorry about that. He tells him not to be sorry since they are helping him now. John asks if he has any idea why the other man went off with his dog tags. Marlena asks if he knows what happened next.

Rex encourages Sarah that she’s not going to slip up and tell Xander that he’s the father unless that’s what she wants. Sarah flashes back to Xander helping her give birth to her previous baby. Sarah acknowledges that Xander did everything he could to help Mackenzie then and he’s a good person, except for when he’s not. Xander then returns with towels and reminds Sarah of the birthing classes they did together, telling her to squeeze his hand as he flashes back to her previous giving birth.

Justin says there’s no reason for bloodshed this morning. Bonnie thinks Victor would approve. Philip asks Vivian to just go. Vivian refuses to leave until she gives her eulogy. Justin informs her that the funeral ended an hour ago which Vivian complains about. Kate threatens to throw her out. Vivian refuses to leave before the reading of the will. Maggie says that’s why she’s really here. Vivian claims that Victor’s money means nothing to her and that she’s only there for the interest of Philip. Kate repeats that he is not her son. Vivian argues that Philip could’ve been presumed dead when Victor’s will was last updated. Justin insists that he was the executor of the will and he’s confident that Philip is well taken care of while Vivian is not one of the inheritors. Vivian asks if she doesn’t even get something sentimental to remember Victor by. Justin states that they have not scheduled the reading of the will yet. Kate tells Vivian that they will call her but Vivian still refuses to leave. Justin decides that he will pull out the will now and prove that Vivian is not inheriting anything, so she will have no reason to ever come back again. Vivian asks Philip to get her a mimosa for the road. Justin then discovers that Victor’s will is gone.

The man recalls thinking he was going to die in the war, but he didn’t. John suggests maybe his father helped him after all. He remembers the other man leaving his own dog tags with him so that if he died, they would think it was him while he argued that his wife was pregnant and going to have a son. John realizes that means the dog tags found on him were not his own, so he is not Joseph Bell. John then removes his own tags from his neck and presents them, revealing that the John Doe is actually Timothy Robicheaux and he was right about having a son. John declares that all this time he’s been searching and now he has found him as John reveals that he is his son.

Kate asks Justin if he’s sure. Justin assures that Victor showed him the will before he went to Greece, so it has to be somewhere. Justin goes to call Victor’s estate attorneys. Kate tells Philip that neither of them are in the will but Victor had a secret trust fund for Philip while he was away in Europe. Philip says they can go then. Kate tells everyone else that she’s sure the will is going to be found and she wishes she could see the look on Vivian’s face when she finds out she’s not in it but she and Philip have to go. Kate apologizes for abandoning Maggie while Bonnie assures that they’ll be her backup. Vivian calls out to Philip that she’s glad he’s not dead as he exits with Kate. Justin finishes his call and announces that apparently, Victor called his estate attorneys while he was away and told them to destroy the will.

Timothy and John talk about searching for each other for their entire life. Marlena explains that he got stuck in the VA system after being wounded in the war and they don’t know a lot about John’s background, but they know that John was born on a rural farm in Louisiana. John notes that he was born after Timothy disappeared. Timothy says he must have had such a hard life without a father. John declares that all that matters is that he’s here now.

Rex, Xander, and Chloe guide Sarah through giving birth. Rex encourages that the baby is almost there as Sarah gives one last push. Sarah successfully gives birth and Rex announces that it’s a girl. Sarah holds her baby and talks about being afraid that it would be like replacing her previous child but says it’s just so much love. Sarah admits she was scared of something going wrong again but she’s perfect.

Philip and Kate go to the Brady Pub. Kate wonders how the funeral reception is going. Philip notes it wasn’t much of a party even before Vivian got there. Kate thought that Rex and Sarah might come back to the house before they left. Philip guesses they decided to skip it since neither of them knew Victor very well. Kate is glad Sarah was there for Maggie and relates to how she felt having both of her sons there for the first time in a long time. Kate tells Philip that he gave a lovely eulogy and asks if he’s alright. Philip guesses it hadn’t really sank in until the funeral that this time really is goodbye. Philip always thought he’d have a chance to redeem himself in Victor’s eyes before he died and live up to what he thought he could be. Philip flashes back to an emotional conversation with Victor before he left Salem. Kate assures Philip that Victor loved him unconditionally and would’ve done anything for him. Kate adds that she was adamant about Philip not coming home, but she knows Victor would be so glad he’s here and she is too.

Maggie questions Victor asking his estate lawyer to destroy the will. Justin adds that Victor did not create a new one either. Maggie asks what happens now. Justin states that if there is no will, everything goes to the surviving spouse, so Maggie inherits the entire estate. Vivian reveals that’s not really true.

Timothy asks John about his adoption. John says it’s complicated and he doesn’t even know the whole story. Timothy asks about his wife. John says she passed a few years ago. Timothy talks about being so determined to find him because he loved her so much. Marlena knows this is a lot to take in. Timothy declares that the man who helped him find his son turned out to be his son, which he calls a miracle.

Kate tells Philip that she’s glad they had this time together and adds that he was right to get them out of there. Kate admits that she would’ve loved to have seen the look on Vivian’s face when she finds out she’s inheriting nothing…

Maggie questions what Vivian means. Bonnie argues that Vivian is just trying to rile her as she’s been in prison and doesn’t know anything. Vivian declares that she is Victor’s surviving spouse. Justin questions how she figures that. Maggie points out that they have been divorced for over a decade. Vivian reveals that the papers were never properly filed so they never got an official divorce decree, so Maggie and Victor’s marriage is null and void. Vivian declares that she is the widow Kiriakis and she inherits everything.

Sarah holds her baby and thanks her for making her a mom again. Rex notes Sarah shivering. Chloe goes to get another blanket. Xander takes the baby and holds her. Sarah starts to say there is something he should know. Xander notes that Sarah is really pale. Rex asks if Sarah is alright. Sarah responds that she doesn’t know and passes out.

Timothy says that when he dreamed his son was nearby, that was fate guiding his hand. Marlena asks John if he’s okay. John talks about wanting to know who he was and where he came from. John says when he found out he wasn’t Roman Brady, every answer he got after that was worse than the one before it from the Alamains to the DiMeras to Yo Ling. John calls it hard to believe he could’ve been a good person with that bad blood in him and there were times he wasn’t a good person. Marlena encourages that what Stefano did to him was not his fault as he made himself the man he is and she’s so proud of him. John declares that Marlena made him that man. John tells Timothy that he made him that man. John can’t believe that he has found thee Timothy Robicheaux. Timothy can’t believe it either and credits Marlena for making it happen. Timothy tells John they’ll make sure they don’t lose each other again as they hug.

Alex arrives outside the Kiriakis Mansion for Victor’s funeral. Alex talks about how he can’t believe Victor is actually gone and how he keeps thinking he will come back. Alex states that Victor and Maggie had a love stronger than space and time that never dies. Bo’s daughter, Chelsea Brady arrives and says she couldn’t agree more. Alex mentions hearing that she was flying in as Chelsea introduces herself to him.

Kate sits at the Pub, reading an article about Victor’s funeral. Kate declares that Victor will be missed despite it all. Philip enters and greets her. Kate remarks that he finally remembered he has a mother.

Brady gets a call from Theresa and questions what she wants. Theresa asks if he wants to go to Victor’s funeral together as a family. Brady responds that they may be co-parents but they are definitely not family and never will be. Brady then hangs up as Belle and Shawn arrive.

Justin and Bonnie enter the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion. Justin talks about always expecting to see Victor when he walks in the room. Sonny joins them and talks about how Victor did care for them all in his own weird way. They then toast to Victor. Xander walks in and says if they are celebrating Victor’s demise, they can count him in.

Maggie sits in her room with her and Victor’s wedding photo, asking how she can ever say goodbye to him. Sarah enters and hugs her. Sarah says she’s sorry Melissa couldn’t be there. Maggie mentions having a video call with her this morning along with Nathan and Melanie. Sarah is glad she got to speak to them. Maggie comments that they are going to have a house full of Kiriakis’ to honor Victor.

Sonny tells Xander that they are toasting to Victor’s memory, not celebrating his demise. Xander says that’s what he meant and that he misspoke. Sonny doesn’t want to hear it and argues that he’s so glad that Sarah left him and is with Rex now. Sonny declares thank God that Sarah is having Rex’s baby and not Xander’s. Bonnie slips up and says that’s not true.

Kate complains about Philip coming back to town after she begged him not to and he didn’t even have the guts to tell her that he was there. Kate reminds him that she put her own freedom at risk to make sure he was safe and sound, away from the authorities. Philip informs Kate that Brady agreed not to press charges, so there’s no worries. Kate argues that it’s just like when he was 16 and he thought he could get out of any trouble. Kate questions where Philip was all this time. Philip informs her that he went to see Lucas in prison. Kate is glad but notes that he couldn’t have been there the whole time. Philip then admits that he was with Chloe.

Rex runs into Chloe in the town square and jokes with her about having to face a bunch of grieving Kiriakis family members. Rex congratulates Chloe on her engagement and says he wishes them the best. Chloe remarks that she bets he does because her engagement keeps Xander away from Sarah and the baby she’s carrying.

Xander and Sonny question Bonnie saying that’s not true. Bonnie claims that she means Sonny calling Xander a horror show is not true. Sonny questions if she’s seriously defending Xander, reminding her that he locked her and Susan in the gardening shed. Bonnie says he feels really bad about it. Sonny questions all being forgiven and blames Xander for Susan being dead. Sonny brings up Gwen and Leo being in Xander’s scheme. Xander explains that Sonny can’t stand the sight of him because he ruined his affair with Leo. Justin gets in between them and says that’s enough as this is the last thing Maggie needs today.

Sarah suggests a necklace for Maggie to wear. Maggie cries about Victor getting it for their anniversary. Sarah encourages that Victor and Maggie had something so special. Maggie knows at some point, she’ll be grateful for all the time that she had with Victor, but right now all she feels is longing for him. Sarah reminds Maggie that she always has her and so many people around her that love her, so she’s not alone and never will be as she hugs her.

Brady asks how Shawn is holding up. Shawn responds that he’s a lot better since he’s been seeing Marlena. Brady encourages that Marlena can help him. Brady’s phone goes off and complains that Theresa will not take no for an answer. Belle asks what she wants. Brady informs them that Theresa wants to get back together.

Alex apologizes for not recognizing Chelsea. Chelsea says she knows who Alex is from seeing his photo online in various publications. Chelsea understands Alex not recognizing her because they didn’t grow up together and adds that she didn’t even know Bo was her dad until high school. Alex tells her that he’s really sorry about her dad. Chelsea thanks him and says she’s still hoping he pulls through. Chelsea adds that being without Victor doesn’t seem right. Alex agrees that he had a huge presence on all of them. Chelsea says she’s been living in London for the past decade, so she feels guilty for not coming home more to see Victor. Theresa then arrives and greets Chelsea as they hug. Chelsea asks about her son Tate. Theresa explains not taking him out of school, so she’s representing both of them and is there for Brady as well. Theresa tells Chelsea that she’s so sorry about Victor and asks about Bo. Chelsea says there’s been no improvement. Chelsea introduces Theresa and Alex, explaining that Alex is her cousin on the Kiriakis side while Theresa is her cousin on the Brady side. Alex and Theresa meet, acknowledging that they are not related. Chelsea says it was great to see them both, but she’s going inside to see Victor before the funeral starts. Alex says they will catch up after the service. Alex tells Theresa that it’s nice to finally meet her. Theresa guesses he’s heard a lot about her but insists that she’s a wonderful person with a soft heart. Theresa hopes Brady will see her that way too. Alex asks if she’s hoping for a redo with him. Theresa confirms that she hoped Victor’s passing would bring them closer. Theresa adds that she and Brady will always have a lifelong connection because of their son but this really brings it home. Alex asks what Brady thinks about her being back. Theresa responds that he’s fine with it, except he wants nothing to do with her.

Belle asks what Brady said when Theresa suggested getting back together. Brady responds that he said in no uncertain terms that they will never ever get back together. Belle questions if Brady would never consider it. Brady reminds Belle of the hell that Theresa put him through and assures that he learned his lesson from Rachel’s custody case that some women are irredeemable. Shawn questions comparing Theresa to Kristen. Brady knows Theresa hasn’t reached Kristen’s treachery levels, but says to give her time.

Chloe tells Rex that he has to admit that he was tremendously relieved to find out that Xander had moved on. Rex insists that he’s just happy for her. Chloe admits she was kind of freaked out when she found out Sarah was pregnant, because if the baby turned out to be Xander’s then her engagement would’ve blown up before it even started.

Justin asks Sonny to let this go since Victor would not want them at each others’ throats today. Sonny remarks that Victor did always love a good family brawl which Xander agrees with. Bonnie points out that Maggie also wouldn’t like this and the last thing she needs is for them to come to blows. Bonnie says she will go check with Henderson to make sure everything is set up. Bonnie instructs them to behave which they agree to do for Maggie. Bonnie then exits.

Sarah asks Maggie if she’s ready to go downstairs. Maggie says she will be in a minute. Maggie then tells Sarah that it’s not too late to tell Xander the truth.

Philip tells Kate that he couldn’t have lived with himself if he didn’t say goodbye to Victor since they had so much unfinished business. Kate knows that Victor was hard on him, but assures that he did love him with all his heart. Philip suggests they should get to the mansion. Kate stops him and asks about him being with Chloe before coming here. Kate wonders if he went to see Chloe because he still loves her.

Rex admits to Chloe that her and Xander being engaged is not the worst thing to happen to his relationship with Sarah. Chloe jokes that he’s being honest for once. Rex then says that they are being forthcoming, so he asks how Chloe felt when Philip showed up at her door, alive and well. Chloe admits she was shocked to know that he was alive and to learn the horrible things he did to Brady. Rex points out that Philip was not in his right mind. Chloe acknowledges that and she’s glad he got the help he needed. Chloe adds that maybe one day they could be friends again. Rex says he’s sure Philip would like that. Chloe says she has to get going and she will see him at Victor’s memorial.

Kate tells Philip that he doesn’t have to answer because she can see in his eyes that he is as in love with Chloe as he was in high school. Philip argues that how he feels about Chloe doesn’t matter because she’s engaged to Xander. Philip suggests they go pay tribute to his father now. Kate warns him that this conversation has not ended as they exit the Pub together.

Brady thinks he deserves a nice, calm relationship with a decent woman after all he’s been through and he doesn’t think that applies to Theresa. Shawn acknowledges that his cousin Theresa can be a handful. Belle suggests they get going so they aren’t late for the service, so they exit together.

Alex asks Theresa what makes her so sure that Brady isn’t in to her. Theresa responds that he told her straight out and then treated her like something on the bottom of his shoe. Alex calls that interesting because the old Alex would encourage her to pursue Brady non stop while the new Alex would tell her that she probably has to take Brady’s word and back the hell off. Theresa jokes that she likes the old him better. Alex says he got in to a lot of trouble then. Theresa responds that she happens to like all sorts of trouble.

Sarah knows Maggie means well but her emotions are all over the place right now. Maggie argues that not telling Xander that he’s the father of her baby is not fair and not right. Sarah argues that they have been over this and says she has to trust her that no good would come out of this particular truth coming out. Chelsea then enters and asks what truth that would be. Maggie is thrilled to see her and excitedly hugs her. Chelsea says she had to come for Victor and for Maggie. Maggie thanks her. Maggie then introduces Chelsea to Sarah. Sarah mentions hearing so much about her and says it’s so good to finally meet her. Maggie wishes Bo and Hope could be there but she understands why they can’t be. Sarah mentions Ciara sending a beautiful bouquet. Chelsea says they all loved Victor and he will always have a special place in her heart. Sarah gets a text that the service is starting soon and says they should get going. Maggie says she’ll be right there. Sarah hugs her and says she will see her there as Sarah and Chelsea then exit the room. Maggie goes back to her and Victor’s wedding photo and cries before exiting the room.

The family gather outside for Victor’s memorial. Justin, Maggie, and Brady are seated in front with an open seat. Theresa approaches the seat next to Brady but then stops and sits next to Alex in the second row instead. Sarah and Rex then arrive with Sarah taking a seat next to Maggie. Shawn and Belle arrive and Chelsea arrives behind, surprising them and they hug. Shawn calls it unfortunate that Ben and Ciara couldn’t be there. Belle asks how Chelsea and Max are doing being no parents. Chelsea says it’s been great but she wishes they lived closer so they could see everybody more often. Chelsea then goes over and hugs Kate, saying it’s so good to see her. Justin stands and decides to begin the service. Justin talks about Victor wanting a small and informal ceremony. Justin calls on anyone who wants to offer a remembrance. Justin acknowledges that Chelsea wanted to start. Chelsea stands and asks what do you say about a guy like Victor Kiriakis. Chelsea calls Victor larger than life. Chelsea talks about Bo not finding out Victor was his father until he was a grown up and how he struggled with his identity as a Kiriakis and a Brady. Chelsea says no matter the strain Bo had with Victor, she always felt that Victor really loved her, her siblings, and all their kids. Chelsea declares the one thing she will remember about Victor is how loved she always felt whenever she was with him. Sonny stands next and jokes about how Victor could’ve taught King Lear and Zeus about family in-fighting but there was another side to Victor that was caring and loving that they didn’t see a lot until Victor found out he had a daughter, Isabella, who was the first to chip away at Victor’s heart but certainly wasn’t the last as that was Maggie. Sonny states that Maggie somehow convinced the powerful Victor Kiriakis to make his family a priority and not a power play. Sonny adds that Victor was so lucky to have Maggie and the whole family is better because of her. Sonny tells Maggie that he loves her as he finishes. Justin then stands and talks about the look on Victor’s face when he would tell him how to live his life, joking that had a very unique style of meddling. Justin says he hated it but he always knew that Victor did it because he loved him so deeply and that he would lay down his life for him and the people he loved. Justin cries that he will miss his dear Uncle Vic, now and forever. Xander stands next and says he may just be the bastard Kiriakis but he always found that he and Victor were cut from similar cloth. Xander says he understood what drove Victor and why he was so often driven in ways that proved to be calamitous. Xander thinks they all know that Victor loved ferociously and fought very hard to make sure that Maggie and his children had the best lives possible. Xander intends to emulate his Uncle Vic and do the same, if God ever blesses him with children. Philip stands and says he was the only one of Victor’s children who had the distinction and sometimes burden of being raised by him, so when he looks back, he remembers how proud Victor was when he did something to please him which wasn’t often enough. Philip recalls Victor’s looks of disappointment when he let him down which was way too often. Philip hopes that Victor can see that he’s still trying to be the man worthy of his love and respect. Belle gets up and helps Philip to his seat as he breaks down crying. Brady stands and talks about how his grandfather was their patriarch. Brady says that Victor always taught them lessons and he will miss that about him until they fly together again. Belle asks if Shawn doesn’t want to say anything. Shawn responds that there’s no point. Justin stands to close the service by reading a poem from one of Victor’s favorite poets to a montage of memories of Victor.

Brady and Alex walk through the town square where they run in to Theresa, who comments on the lovely service. Brady questions if she followed him. Theresa explains that Bonnie told her that they came to pick up food so she thought she could help and she’s starving. Brady tells her that she can go to the Brady Pub. Alex feels that’s no way for Brady to treat his kid’s mom. Brady asks Alex to stay out of it. Theresa remarks that at least someone in the family still has manners. Theresa adds that she’d love to get to know Alex better and suggests they have dinner this weekend. Brady thought she was going back to California but Theresa reveals that she’s thinking about sticking around for a little while. Theresa tells Alex to let her know about dinner and walks away.

Belle and Chelsea hug outside the Pub. Belle can’t believe that Chelsea is leaving already. Chelsea wishes she could stay longer. Belle talks about how her and Shawn always talk about wanting to visit in London. Chelsea encourages that they should and asks where Shawn is. Belle says that Shawn went in to the Pub to pack her a lunch, but notes that he has been awhile so she wonders what’s keeping him.

Shawn packs a lunch for Chelsea at the Pub but ends up behind the bar where he grabs a bottle of alcohol and takes a drink.

Rex asks Sarah if she’s ready to go because Maggie is probably wondering where she is. Chloe tells Xander that they should get going as well. Sarah then stops and announces that her water just broke.

In the living room, Maggie tells Bonnie, Justin, Philip, and Kate how much it means to her that they are there for her. Bonnie says they will be there as long as she needs. Kate comments that out of all of Victor’s wives, she believes Maggie brought out the best in him. Kate calls Maggie the perfect match for Victor. Vivian Alamain then appears and remarks that it’s a matter of opinion, leaving the room shocked.

Chanel is at home with Talia and asks if she wants wine or champagne to celebrate. Talia says either is fine but asks what they are celebrating. Chanel points out that they just killed it at the bowling alley. Talia jokes that it was all Chanel. Talia asks if she’s sure this is okay with Paulina. Chanel tells her not to worry as Paulina is out to dinner with Abe since they are getting to know each other again from scratch. Chanel tells Talia that they have the place all to themselves.

Jada joins Rafe in his office and comments on him looking comfortable at his desk. Rafe says he’s getting there. Jada thought he was happy to be back. Rafe assures that he is but notes that it’s just been a whirlwind since Rawlings fired him and then Rawlings got fired and now he’s back. Jada acknowledges that it’s a lot. Rafe notes that she seems a little down. Jada brings up that Rafe told Paulina that she should’ve given her the commissioner job and she turned it down, but she’s starting to think maybe that was a mistake.

At the hospital, Kayla runs in to Tripp, who asks about the John Doe. Kayla explains that John and Steve are trying to figure out his identity to reunite him with his son. Tripp mentions knowing from experience that Steve is excellent at that. Kayla says she will sign off on Tripp’s charts. Tripp asks Kayla for help on one more thing that’s kind of an emergency.

At the DiMera Mansion, EJ complains about hiring an assassin that won’t return his texts. He sends a text to the woman he hired, Joyce, asking why he hasn’t heard back from her and if Ava is out of the picture yet. EJ shouts that he wants to know that it’s done. Johnny then walks in and asks what he’s talking about. EJ thinks back to hiring Joyce.

Joyce declares this is where it ends but Harris grabs her, causing her to drop the gun. As they struggle with one another, Ava picks up the gun and pulls the trigger, shooting Joyce. Joyce calls Ava a bitch and then falls onto the hospital bed.

Rafe questions Jada if she’s saying she actually does want to be commissioner. Jada points out that she’s definitely qualified as Rafe said himself. Jada assures that Rafe and his career matter to her very much, but he told her the position and job is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Rafe says he gets it. Jada says if that’s true, she thinks he’s sitting in her chair. Rafe is confused until Jada reveals that she was just messing with him.

Tripp tells Kayla that about he and Wendy being interrupted twice but they are seeing each other again tonight, so he’s trying to think ahead so nothing goes wrong this time. Kayla understands and tells Tripp that they can have their place tonight.

EJ tells Johnny that he didn’t know he was home. Johnny feels he caught him in the middle of a pretty heated text conversation and asks what got him so angry. EJ claims he was just frustrated because he had to take his sports car to the shop after Gabi side swiped it. Johnny mocks that being his most prized possession. EJ says it’s bad enough that he has to watch Gabi parade around the house like it’s her own. Johnny gets that EJ is pissed but says it’s not like it’s a matter of life and death…

Harris notes that Joyce is still breathing. A security officer then bursts in with his gun and orders Ava to drop the weapon as he calls for backup, saying they have a patient with a gun. Ava says he doesn’t understand. He says he understands she just shot this woman. Ava responds that she didn’t have a choice as she attacked her and was going to kill both of them. The officer demands she drop the gun. Harris tells Ava to just do it and drop the gun.

Kayla tells Tripp that she will call Steve now to let him know to vacate the place tonight. Tripp thanks her for the offer but informs her that he and Wendy already have a reservation at the Salem Inn. Kayla asks how she can help then. Tripp explains that he’s done everything he can think of to make sure there are no interruptions, so he asks Kayla to take his phone for the night. Tripp knows he could just turn it off but if it’s there, he could be tempted. Tripp adds that if there’s an actual emergency, she can call their room #304. Kayla tells Tripp to just focus on having a good time tonight as he then exits the hospital.

EJ and Johnny head in to the living room. EJ keeps checking his phone while Johnny finds a book of Nicole’s on the couch, open to a chapter on labor and delivery. EJ guesses Nicole forgot it when she just went up to bed. Johnny asks how she’s feeling. EJ says she’s fine and doing well. Johnny asks how EJ is feeling with his new baby brother or sister on the way. EJ says he’s thrilled. EJ admits he wasn’t expecting to become a father again but he couldn’t be happier. Johnny says it must be an incredible feeling, though not one he’s ready for. EJ asks if Johnny thought about parenthood while married or if he’s thinking of what it might be like with Chanel. Johnny guesses he’s been talking to Nicole. EJ says they just want what’s best for him. EJ asks if he took Nicole’s advice and told Chanel how he feels. Johnny confirms that he was about to, but they got interrupted and in hindsight, he’s glad they did which EJ questions. Johnny informs him that the person who interrupted them was Talia Hunter, who was meeting Chanel for a date. EJ brings up Talia poisoning the biscuits and getting Chanel’s bakery shut down, so he questions why Chanel would want to get involved with her. EJ asks if it’s serious. Johnny asks if it matters since there’s obviously something going on between them, so he decided to keep his mouth shut and back off. EJ calls that stupid.

Talia praises Chanel’s bowling skills. Talia tells her that she had a really good time tonight. Chanel says she did too. Talia thanks her for not hating her as most people would not speak to her again after what she did, so she knows how big of a deal this is. Talia wants to let her know how much it means to her that she gave her a second chance. Chanel says she’s glad she did. Talia asks how she thinks it’s going so far. Chanel says pretty well. Talia asks if she has any ideas of how it could be better. Chanel says she has one and kisses Talia.

Jada and Rafe kiss in Rafe’s office. Rafe jokes about taking full advantage of the amended policy. They continue kissing until Rafe stops and agrees that Jada should be police commissioner since Paulina offered her the job, so if she wants it, she can take it. Jada assures that she doesn’t as Rafe is an outstanding cop and Paulina gave him his job back, so they can each keep doing what they love and they can keep doing this as they continue kissing. Jada says as much as she enjoys sharing this moment, she suggests going to Rafe’s house and sharing his bed. Rafe agrees to that but then gets a call and says he’s on his way. Rafe informs Jada that there’s been a shooting at Bayview so they head out together.

Harris pleads with Ava to put the gun down, but Ava says she can’t let the guard take her in after she just shot a woman. Harris points out that it was self defense. Ava feels they won’t believe her. The guard warns Ava that it’s her last chance to drop the weapon before he makes her drop it. Ava warns him to think twice about that. Harris questions what she is doing. Ava repeats that she’s not going to prison, so if she has to shoot this guy to get out of here, then that’s exactly what she’s going to do.

Chanel and Talia kiss until Talia gets a call from Kayla. Kayla says she knows it’s late but wondered if she could come by the hospital because she has some news to deliver in person. Talia agrees to be right there and hangs up. Chanel asks if everything is okay. Talia tells Chanel that Kayla wants to meet with her, so she’s guessing it’s about the job. Chanel says if the chief of staff is asking her to come in, it’s probably good news. Talia doubts it and worries that Kayla just doesn’t want to disappoint her over the phone. Talia feels it would be a PR nightmare for the board if they hired the “biscuit bandit”. Chanel thinks they want a great doctor which Talia is. Chanel encourages Talia and says she believes in her. Talia thanks her as Chanel tells her to let her know how it goes. Talia then exits.

Johnny questions if EJ called him stupid. EJ clarifies that he called his decision about Chanel stupid. Johnny asks if EJ is encouraging him to become the odd man out in yet another love triangle. EJ says he’s encouraging him to go after the woman he loves. Johnny responds that he’s not going to get in between Chanel and Talia because that would be stupid and disrespectful. EJ argues that relationship barely exists and that Chanel would be better off with Johnny. Johnny questions when EJ became team Chanel. EJ acknowledges that Chanel turned her life around, started a business and became a huge success, so he admits that he was wrong about her. EJ adds that no matter what flaws he thought Chanel had, they pale in comparison to Ava Vitali.

Harris tries to calm Ava down, pointing out that she did nothing wrong and they will explain what happened to the cops. Ava worries that Rafe hates her, so there’s no way he will listen to her. Harris insists that Rafe will listen to him, but she won’t want Rafe to see her waving the gun around. Ava argues that she has to do this as there’s no other choice. Harris promises there is and asks her to just give him the gun. Harris adds that nobody else needs to get hurt and asks her for the gun. Ava then slowly hands it over to Harris. Harris thanks her and then turns the gun back on the security guard, warning him not to move and to stay right there because they are leaving. Harris and Ava then escape together.

Tripp and Wendy meet at their room in the Salem Inn. Wendy says she talked to the manager to make sure everything goes smoothly. Tripp says he did the same and the manager confirmed no one else has access to the room. Wendy mentions turning her phone off while Tripp tells her that he gave his to Kayla. Wendy still feels like they are forgetting something. Tripp tells her not to worry as they got it all covered and tonight they will finally be together with no interruptions. They are then interrupted by a knock at the door from room service who brings in steak and champagne. Wendy says she figured they would be hungry. Tripp asks the worker to make sure they are not disturbed as he exits. Wendy puts the do not disturb sign on the door. Tripp offers to pop the champagne but Wendy says all she needs is him as they kiss.

Johnny questions EJ comparing Chanel to Ava Vitali, arguing that Chanel was his wife while Ava was just a blip on the radar. Johnny adds that he doesn’t want to sit here and listen to him trash Ava. EJ argues that Ava killed Johnny’s grandmother. Johnny acknowledges that Ava is mentally ill and says she doesn’t need to be punished, she needs help. EJ decides they will have to agree to disagree. Johnny asks if they can talk about something else. EJ says he has one more thing about Chanel. Johnny doesn’t need him to tell him what to do and says he’s got this. EJ states that if it were him, he would not pass up the chance to be with the woman he loves out of some misguided sense of decorum, he would be proactive and tell her how he feels.

Talia goes to the hospital to see Kayla, who thanks her for coming. Kayla informs Talia that she has some news to tell her in person. Talia assumes it’s about the job which Kayla confirms. Talia says the fact that she’d even considering hiring her was truly kind, but she knew the board would never go for it. Kayla informs her that spoke to Seth Burns, who basically said the same thing, but given her excellent qualifications, they agreed to hire her on a provisional basis and she can start tomorrow. Talia calls this incredible and excitedly thanks her, promising that she won’t let her down.

Rafe and Jada arrive at Bayview where the security guard and a nurse are checking on Joyce. Jada calls the ambulance again while Rafe asks what happened. The guard informs him that Ava Vitali shot her.

Ava and Harris escape Bayview. They talk about having no idea what’s going on or why Joyce attacked them. Harris says he got her out of there because if that woman has an accomplice, they could be anywhere. Ava asks where they are going since she’s not going to the police. Harris decides he has another idea.

Rafe and Jada go to the hospital. Jada mentions Kayla being with the victim now. Rafe calls in an APB on Ava and Harris, noting that they escaped Bayview about 30 minutes ago. Rafe adds to consider them armed and dangerous so they are to proceed with extreme caution. Rafe wants updates every hour. Kayla comes over and says the victim is not good, but the trauma team is trying to stabilize her for surgery. Jada asks if she’s going to make it. Kayla says it’s too soon to tell and asks if Ava really did this. Rafe says they don’t know for sure but they do know that Ava escaped Bayview with Harris Michaels. Rafe would like to question the victim but guesses that’s off the table for now. Kayla confirms they need to get her in to surgery right away, but says she will keep them posted.

Harris and Ava go to a motel room. Harris says this will be their base of operations as they need to regroup before making their next move. Harris says they first have to figure out who that woman was and why she came after her. Ava says she has no clue who it was. Harris points out that she obviously knew who Ava was because she was trying to kill her. Harris asks if she could think of anyone with a grudge from her past. Ava insists this wasn’t a mafia hit. Harris points out that it was a hit. Ava responds that she knows exactly who put it out.

Johnny goes to see Chanel and apologizes for just dropping by as he hopes it’s not a bad time. Chanel says it’s not and asks what’s going on. Johnny says he’s just going to say it. Johnny tells Chanel that he’s been wanting to tell her this for awhile and he tried a couple times, but the timing was off and now she’s with Talia so the last thing he wants to do is get in the middle of that, but he can’t keep quiet about this anymore. Johnny declares he had to come tell her how he feels. Johnny then tells Chanel that he’s still in love with her.

Tripp and Wendy kiss and begin to undress as they move on to the bed.

Rafe tells Jada that he found out the victim was not a nurse and didn’t work at Bayview. Jada brings up the phone that they found on her and that it’s a burner phone with no passcode. Jada sees there’s a ton of text messages all from one number. Rafe guesses it’s blocked. Jada reads the text message asking why they haven’t heard back from her and if Ava was out of the picture yet. Rafe wonders who the hell sent the text.

EJ pours a drink at home and then gets a breaking news alert on his phone about a shooting at Bayview, which he assumes means Ava was shot.

Ava tells Harris that it’s so obvious and it has to be EJ DiMera.

Kayla finishes a call about Rafe wanting to question the patient. Kayla wonders how Ava is involved with all of this. Kayla then looks at a photo of Tripp and Wendy on her phone, but decides it can wait.

Tripp and Wendy lay in bed together after having sex for the first time. They talk about how it happened with no interruptions. Wendy tells Tripp it was so worth the wait as they kiss.

Chanel doesn’t know what to say to Johnny. Talia then comes back and tells Chanel that she had to come back. Chanel asks if everything is okay. Talia says it’s better than okay and informs Chanel that she got the job. They hug as Chanel calls it amazing. Talia then sees Johnny inside and says she didn’t know she had company. Talia asks what’s going on. Johnny claims it’s nothing and he was just leaving. Talia says he doesn’t have to leave on her account. Johnny says he’s not and that he has somewhere to be. Johnny tells Chanel good night and congratulates Talia as he then exits. Talia asks if Chanel is okay. Chanel claims that she’s fine.

Rex joins Sarah in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion and asks how she’s feeling. Sarah says she’s fine and no more Braxton-Hicks so it looks like the baby will stay in the oven a little longer before making their grand entrance in to the world. Rex is happy to hear that because he’s been thinking they should be married before the baby is born.

Xander comes across Theresa outside the Brady Pub and says he never thought he’d see her sorry ass in Salem again and questions what the hell she’s doing here.

Harris questions Ava telling him that Susan Banks is alive. Ava assures that she is, which means she is not responsible for the death of EJ DiMera’s mother.

EJ walks through the park and calls someone to meet him in the park right now. EJ declares that Ava Vitali killed his mother and before this day is done, he wants Ava dead too.

At the hospital, Eric informs Sloan that she is being discharged and asks if she’s ready go home. Sloan responds that there is something she needs to tell him. Eric asks what it is. Sloan says it’s about the baby. Sloan cries that she’s so sorry that she lost their child. Eric questions why she’s sorry when it wasn’t her fault. Sloan knows how much he wanted to be a father. Sloan says when she came in, they had so much to look forward to in starting a family together and being parents together. Eric assures that they still have each other and a lot of good things to look forward to. Eric is sure she’s pretty desperate for non-hospital food, so he offers to make her dinner at the Pub. Sloan says she’ll just meet him there after taking a walk to clear her head because she needs a little time for herself. Eric tells her to call him so he can make sure she’s okay as he then exits the room. Sloan cries to herself that it’s all her fault that Eric is not going to be a father to either one of his kids. Sloan thinks back to changing Nicole’s test results.

Theresa informs Xander that she came to pay respects to Victor. Xander questions if that’s why she is out here crying crocodile tears. Theresa calls him cynical and says she actually cared deeply about Victor. Xander mocks her. Theresa then admits the tears weren’t over Victor, but about Brady. Xander guesses Brady wasn’t thrilled to see her and told her to go to Hell. Theresa remarks that it’s the same as Sarah did to Xander.

Sarah tells Rex that she’s so grateful that he wants to be a father to her baby as after what Xander did to Susan, she doesn’t want him anywhere near their child but she questions if Rex is still sure he wants to do this. Rex says that Sarah made it clear that keeping Xander away is her primary motive for marrying him and he’s committed to her. Rex adds that he’s still committed to getting Sarah to fall back in love with him. Sarah really hopes he can do that. Rex asks if she’s sure about that because she hesitated when he brought up marriage. Sarah says it just doesn’t feel right to do it now, before Victor’s funeral. Rex agrees that makes sense. Sarah says she just wants to be present for Maggie as she’s burying her husband and none of Victor’s kids can be there since Bo is in a coma, Isabella is gone, and Philip can’t come home unless he’s going to face the consequences of what he did to Brady. Philip then walks in and announces that’s not true anymore, shocking Rex and Sarah.

Chloe goes to the DiMera Mansion and informs Nicole that Philip is alive and well and that he’s the one who framed Brady for his murder. Nicole is shocked and asks if Brady is going after him. Chloe reveals that Belle convinced Brady not to press charges, so Philip is in the clear. Nicole can’t believe it. Chloe explains that Philip has spent his time away at a psychiatric hospital but they released him. Nicole asks if he’s better now. Chloe says apparently so as he said he did a lot of work on himself and recognizes where everything went terribly wrong. Nicole calls that good news and the best part is, now Chloe doesn’t have to marry Xander.

EJ meets a woman in the park and asks if she’s sure she can get in to Bayview despite the heavy security which she assures that she can. EJ asks how she plans to do it but then decides he doesn’t want to know as long as Ava suffers the same fate as his dearly departed mother…

Harris asks Ava how she knows that Susan is alive. Ava explains that when Marlena hypnotized her, it was like she was back in that night. Harris asks what exactly she saw. Ava tells him that she was lying on the ground after the wreck and everything was on fire but as she was running, she looked back and saw Susan outside the car before it exploded. Harris questions why she didn’t just tell Marlena instead of lying. Ava says that when Marlena brought her out of hypnosis, she panicked and couldn’t bring herself to say it. Ava figured Marlena wouldn’t believe her since after all this time, she suddenly remembers that Susan is alive. Ava thinks Marlena would feel she’s making it up to get out of this place. Harris then asks if she is making it up. Ava assures that she’s not and that he knows her hallucinations are real. Ava states that when Marlena put her under, she saw it so clearly that Susan was alive before the car exploded. Harris asks if she’s absolutely sure that Susan was alive. Ava confirms that she is 100%. Harris then asks where Susan is now and where she’s been all this time.

The woman asks EJ if he’s sure about hiring her for this job. EJ assures that he’s always been happy with her work before. She appreciates the work but didn’t think EJ did this kind of thing anymore. EJ states that as a rule, he doesn’t but this is different and personal. She says she understands and he doesn’t need to worry as she will take care of Ava and it will never get back to him. EJ thanks her and adds that once she’s done, he wants her to see to it that Xander follows Ava to the grave because he’s just as responsible for Susan’s death as Ava.

Xander argues that Theresa doesn’t know anything about him and Sarah. Theresa goes over Sarah dumping Xander and leaving Salem because Xander put on a clown mask to kidnap and kill EJ’s mom. Xander argues that he did not kill Susan Banks. Theresa remarks that Sarah doesn’t see it that way. Xander says at least he’s not outside the Pub, crying his eyes out, because he moved on. Theresa questions what he’s moved on to and mocks him. Xander then informs her that he’s engaged to Chloe Lane. Theresa laughs but then realizes he’s serious. Xander decides this conversation is over but Theresa stops him and asks how on earth he got Chloe to give him the time of day after he left her with Mateo in Mexico, who she calls the only man on the planet who is a bigger piece of garbage than him.

Chloe asks Nicole what Philip being alive has anything to do with her marrying Xander. Nicole points out that Chloe was seeing Philip before he disappeared and now he’s back. Nicole says she is her friend and she wants what’s best for her and she knows that Chloe and Philip had a good thing going. Chloe argues that Philip didn’t just disappear, he framed his own death and framed Brady for murder, all because he couldn’t let her go. Nicole points out that Philip was sick but now he’s better so she asks if there’s a chance they could pick up where they left off.

Rex questions what Philip is doing here and if it’s safe. Philip confirms that Brady has graciously agreed to drop the charges against him which means he’s free to be in Salem and attend Victor’s funeral. Sarah asks if he’s clear of everything. Philip confirms that Belle worked hard to convince Brady that he deserved forgiveness. Rex congratulates him. Sarah tells Philip that she’s so sorry about his father. Rex assures that he’s there for him and whatever he needs. Philip thanks him and admits it’s kind of overwhelming to be back as he’s sure lots has changed since he left. Philip points out Sarah having a baby to start and asks who the father is. Rex claims that he’s the father and that they are so excited about the pregnancy and getting married soon. Philip says he did miss a lot as he had no idea they were even back together. Sarah goes along with it and says they’re so excited the baby will get a chance to know Philip. Sarah decides she’s going to lay down upstairs. Philip congratulates them on the baby and the engagement. Sarah welcomes Philip home as she then exits. Philip tells Rex that he’s happy for him as he knows that he never really stopped loving Sarah. Rex calls Sarah the love of his life. Philip guesses it all worked out, especially now that Xander is with Chloe. Philip then laughs at the idea of Chloe marrying Xander and questions what the hell she’s thinking. Rex then asks Philip to please tell him that he’s not still obsessed with Chloe.

Chloe tells Nicole that she will try to ignore that she’s not even acknowledging that she moved in with Xander by telling her that she’s not going to just pick up where she left off with Philip, questioning why she thinks that’s a brilliant idea. Nicole repeats that things were great between Chloe and Philip before things went off the rail and asks what if Philip is back to the guy that she fell in love with. Chloe says it doesn’t matter because she’s with someone else now. Nicole asks if they ever really move on from their first love and if part of her heart still belongs to the guy she fell madly in love with. Chloe questions if they are still talking about her, Xander, and Philip or if it’s about Nicole, Eric, and EJ.

EJ declares that he won’t rest until he avenges his mother and those that took her life will pay with their lives. Sloan then approaches EJ.

Ava tells Harris that she has no idea where Susan is as she thought she was in Heaven until a few hours ago. Harris argues that if Susan is alive, someone should be out there looking for her. Harris suggests talking to Marlena or contacting EJ. Ava says no. Harris points out that EJ is convinced that Ava killed his mother so he should know that’s not the case.

Sloan asks EJ if she’s interrupting as she thought she heard him talking to someone. EJ explains that he was just talking to an image of his mother, who died fairly recently. EJ adds that the people who took her life are walking around freely which has left him somewhat bitter. Sloan relates to the feeling all too well. EJ asks if it was her mother. Sloan says it was both her parents and that she and her brother Colin vowed to avenge them too but making promises like that leads down a very dark path…

Xander warns Theresa to watch herself. Theresa says she’s just stating the facts. Xander calls what happened in Mexico ancient history. Theresa brings up Susan Banks again. Xander argues that he’s changed and Chloe knows that or else she wouldn’t be with him. Theresa questions if he has, pointing out the wild look in his eyes and calls him still the same sadistic psycho that she’s always known. Xander argues that she doesn’t know him. Theresa says she knows plenty and that he hasn’t changed at all. Xander informs Theresa that someone just offered him a huge amount of money to do something terrible but he turned them down flat and said no. Theresa guesses he just wasn’t desperate enough, but the second he is, he will revert to form and she hopes it’s not too late for Chloe when he does. Xander insists that Chloe loves and trusts him. Theresa warns that when things get bad, she hopes Chloe sticks a knife in him like she did to El Fideo and remarks that no one would come back for his funeral. Xander grabs Theresa and warns her to shut her mouth before he shuts it for her. Eric then appears and grabs Xander, demanding he get his hands off of her.

Ava worries about EJ not believing her if she tells him about his mother when he already wants her dead for killing her. Harris points out that Susan’s not dead. The woman that EJ hired then enters the room dressed as a nurse with a syringe and announces that it’s time for Ava’s medication, leaving them confused. Ava argues that she’s never gotten a shot here, so she questions what medication that is. She claims that the doctor ordered something new which Ava questions while Harris asks for the name of the medication. She asks Harris to leave the room while she administers the injection. Harris tells her to hold on a second. She questions if he’s interfering with Ava’s treatment. Harris instructs Ava to call the doctor to confirm he ordered this. The woman questions Harris thinking she’s lying. Harris says no but that Ava has a right to know what drug she’s being given. The woman then pulls her gun out and says she was hoping to do this the easy way but Harris had to go play hero, so now they are both going to get a shot, only it’s not going to be from a needle.

Philip tells Rex that during his time away, he came to see that his love for Chloe turned in to an unhealthy addiction and he’s a lot better now. Rex asks if Philip would be able to control how he acts if he had romantic feelings for Chloe which Philip confirms. Philip then admits that he is still head over heels in love with Chloe Lane.

Nicole tells Chloe that her situation with EJ and Eric is not the same as Chloe’s with Xander and Philip. Chloe asks what is different. Nicole tries to explain it but then admits maybe it is sort of the same. Chloe complains that Nicole still wants her to dump Xander for Philip. Nicole apologizes for trying to steer her in any direction about her love life but argues that Chloe did the same by giving her grief over choosing EJ. Chloe says she did but eventually accepted it while Nicole continues giving it to her which she plans to ignore. Nicole argues that Chloe does have another option. Chloe repeats that what she had with Philip is in the past, just like what Nicole had with Eric. Nicole asks if she’s sure about her and Philip. Nicole asks what it was like when she saw Philip again. Chloe admits her heart skipped a beat when she saw him, but that’s only because she was shocked that he was alive. Nicole suggests it was her heart telling her that Philip is the one she’s supposed to be with right after dumping Xander on his sketchy ass.

Eric questions what Xander is doing. Xander responds that Theresa brings out the worst in him. Xander remarks that Brady had the right idea about her. Theresa tells him to get out of her sight so Xander walks away. Eric checks on Theresa and asks if Xander hurt her. Theresa says if Eric didn’t show up, she would’ve been the one hurting Xander. Eric asks what that was all about. Theresa says it was just Xander being Xander. Eric says it’s good to see her anyway and guesses she’s in town for Victor’s funeral which she confirms. Theresa says as much as they clashed, it felt wrong not being here. Eric comments that Victor’s been a big part of all their lives. Theresa tells Eric that it’s so good to see him and hugs him. Theresa adds that her mom told her that Eric and his girlfriend lost a baby and she’s so sorry. Theresa asks if she’s okay. Eric responds that she just got released from the hospital.

EJ questions if Sloan just came from the hospital as he sees her hospital bracelet. Sloan says she didn’t realize she still had it on. EJ mentions that Nicole told him that Sloan lost the baby and he’s very sorry. EJ adds that he can only imagine how devastated Eric is as he knows becoming an actual father was a lifelong dream of his. EJ imagines he and Nicole having a child must feel like salt in the wounds. Sloan remarks that EJ’s condolences meant nothing and asks if he’s actually enjoying knowing Eric is suffering. EJ disagrees and says as a father, he knows Eric’s pain. EJ remarks that maybe being a parent just isn’t in the cards for Eric. Sloan responds that maybe it is. EJ hopes she’s right that having a child is in the cards for Eric, but he’s very sorry that it can’t happen now. EJ calls losing a child a pain that no one deserves and says his heart goes out to both of them. Sloan thanks him for saying that as EJ then walks away.

Theresa asks Eric if he and Sloan are going to try again in a few months. Eric reveals they just learned that Sloan has a medical condition that prevents her from carrying a child to full term. Theresa says she’s so sorry. Eric is starting to think that maybe being a father isn’t a part of God’s plan. Theresa encourages that it could still happen someday and that she’s here to support him if he wants to hang out, talk, or anything because he’s always been a comfort to her. Eric tells her that he’d do anything for her. Theresa asks him to put in a good word with Brady for her. Eric questions if she’s interested in Brady since it didn’t end well. Theresa tells Eric to just forget she said anything. Theresa says she won’t pretend to know much about God and his plans, but she knows any kid that had Eric as a dad would be the luckiest kid on the planet. Theresa then hugs Eric.

Philip tells Rex that his feelings for Chloe are still strong but he’s not going to start chasing after her. Rex doesn’t want him to do anything that will jeopardize his recovery. Philip assures that he won’t do anything to break up Xander and Chloe which would free Xander up to pursue Sarah. Rex says he’s not worried about that. Philip asks why Xander would bother anyway now that Sarah is carrying Rex’s baby.

Chloe tells Nicole for the last time that she is with Xander now whether anyone likes it or not. Nicole begrudgingly accepts that. Chloe suggests a pact that they don’t get to choose who the other are with. Nicole agrees but tells her not to come crying to her when Xander shows his true colors and does something to make her regret ever laying eyes on him. Chloe tells her the same with EJ. Chloe and Nicole then laugh and hug.

Harris questions who sent the woman. Ava asks if it was EJ who sent her to kill her. She declares that the person holding the gun asks the questions and asks who wants the first bullet.

Theresa walks through the park, saying she doesn’t need Eric to put in a good word with Brady as she can do it herself. Theresa looks at her phone but then decides against looking too desperate on day 1. Theresa declares that she’s not giving up on Brady because she knows they belong together.

Philip runs in to Chloe in the town square and thanks her again for her help with Brady. Chloe says it was all Belle. Philip points out that Chloe could’ve stopped it but she stuck her neck out for him. Xander then joins Chloe and comments on Philip enjoying his freedom, asking if he ever thought he’d be just strolling in the town square again. Xander hopes he didn’t keep Chloe waiting too long and they walk off for dinner together.

Sarah returns to Rex in the living room. Rex assures that he didn’t tell Philip that the baby is Xander’s. Rex admits he doesn’t love lying to his brother but he knows it’s for the best. Rex adds that Philip is still in love with Chloe but he said he’s not going to pursue her and he hopes he’s telling the truth because Xander marrying Chloe is good for everyone, especially Sarah and her baby.

Sloan meets Eric at the Pub and asks if he still wants to be a father. Eric says of course, so Sloan asks what he says to them adopting a baby.

EJ goes home to Nicole in the living room of the DiMera Mansion. Nicole notices EJ checking his phone so she asks if something is wrong. EJ claims it’s just business as he’s waiting to hear from an associate that she’s closed a deal…

The woman EJ hired declares this is where it ends but Harris grabs her, causing her to drop the gun. As they struggle with one another, Ava picks up the gun and pulls the trigger.

Ava is in her room at Bayview when Harris comes in to visit. Harris notes missing her at breakfast and informs her that Marlena has agreed to help her. Harris adds that he thought Ava would be more excited about that. Ava says she appreciates him going to bat for her, but she changed her mind as she doesn’t want to talk about Susan Banks and wants to forget that Susan ever existed.

EJ has a dream about his mom Susan Banks coming back but then wakes up on the couch in the living room of the DiMera Mansion.

Theresa Donovan surprises Brady by showing up at his door. She starts talking about her flight but Brady says he doesn’t understand and questions what she is doing in Salem.

Marlena sits with John and Steve at the Pub. John asks her about the new case that she has for them. Marlena explains that she met an interesting man at the hospital who is in his 90s and he was found wandering on the side of the road. Marlena adds that his memory is almost non existent as he’s not sure of his own identity. Steve guesses she wants them to figure out who he is. Marlena confirms that and also finding out who his long lost son is.

Julie goes to the hospital and takes a seat next to the John Doe. Julie talks about being at the hospital because Doug stubbed his toe on the coffee table. He tells her that he’s waiting on test results. Julie decides they can keep each other company and introduces herself, but when she asks who he is, he says that seems to be the million dollar question and that everyone has been calling him Mr. Doe. Julie says she’s sorry to hear that he’s suffering from memory loss and asks if he has any idea what caused it. He notes that Kayla said it could be from a head injury as he apparently has a bad scar on the back of his head which he jokes about. Julie talks about him reminding her of her uncle Tommy, who also suffered from memory loss after having plastic surgery and not remembering who he was. He tells her that something about that story sounds familiar to him and jokes that maybe he is her Uncle Tommy.

Marlena tells John and Steve about the man trying to find his son and that he wasn’t sure where he came from but he had memories of a farm. John says they’d be happy to help but they don’t have a lot to go on. Marlena adds that the man remembered a lot of fighting going on when trying to get back to his son. John guesses that he could’ve been off fighting in a war.

Harris thought Ava wanted to talk to Marlena and questions what changed. Ava thinks it might all just be a huge waste of time. Ava points out that she hasn’t had a vision of Susan since yesterday so maybe it’s over. Ava then imagines Susan appearing behind her, urging her to tell the truth. Ava questions what “Susan” wants her to say. She tells Ava that she needs to tell the truth about the accident.

Xander calls Chloe and leaves a message, inviting her to dinner in the town square so they can start talking about their wedding. Xander adds that Philip is not invited as he hangs up. Xander then worries about sounding insecure about Philip. EJ then shows up at the door and pulls a gun on Xander.

Theresa comments on Brady not making her feel welcomed. Brady says he didn’t mean to sound unfriendly but he’s wondering why she is suddenly here at his door. Theresa responds that she came to pay her respects to Victor since he is their son’s great grandfather. Theresa adds that Tate had school so she came alone for the funeral. Brady questions why since Theresa and Victor were never really close at all. Theresa admits they had a scratchy relationship but says they had a tender breakthrough when she left with El Fideo to protect Brady and Tate. Theresa adds that when she finally escaped from Mexico, Victor wanted her and Brady to be together. Brady jokes that is because Victor would’ve preferred anyone over Eve. Brady adds that’s also why Victor advised her to keep quiet about Chloe when Theresa and Xander left her stranded in Mexico with El Fideo. Theresa argues that was all Xander’s decision and she had nothing to do with that. Theresa declares that Xander is the entire reason that she and Brady are not together and she will always hate him for that.

Xander questions EJ pulling a gun on him. EJ states that he’s been thinking about his mother a lot lately and what a wonderful, loving person she was and how much he misses her. EJ declares that for far too long, he’s allowed her murder to go unavenged. Xander understands it was a terrible tragedy but argues that it was not his fault, it was all Ava. Xander states that Ava drove Susan off the cliff so if anyone deserves to die, it’s Ava. EJ agrees with him and then offers his gun to Xander, declaring that is why he wants Xander to kill Ava.

Ava questions his vision of Susan wanting her to tell the truth about the night she drove off the road. Ava argues that she already told that truth and it’s not a secret. Harris asks if she’s seeing Susan again. Ava says yes but then her vision disappears. Harris asks what she said this time. Ava responds that she keeps telling her to tell the truth and that she’s lying about the night of the accident. Ava swears that she doesn’t know what she was talking about. Harris encourages that she cannot do this on her own and urges her to talk to Marlena. Harris tells her that he can call Marlena now if Ava says the word.

Steve thinks John may be onto something since if the man was fighting in a war, it could explain how he was separated from his son. John says the military would have his fingerprints on file if he served, so he suggests getting his prints and running them through the database. Marlena then gets a call from Harris and steps away to answer it. Marlena tells him to tell Ava that she will be right there and hangs up. Marlena then tells John and Steve that she has to go to Bayview. Marlena asks if she can tell Kayla that they might be willing to help Mr. Doe. Steve says he can talk to Kayla about that later but right now they might have another way to crack this thing. Marlena thanks them and expresses how much she’d like to help the man track down his son. John tells her not to worry as Black Patch is on the case.

Julie tells Mr. Doe that her Uncle Tommy passed away several years ago. He guesses the search for his identity will have to continue as well as the identity of his son. He talks about not remembering much and that he and his son never met, but he feels that he is somewhere nearby. Julie encourages that finding his son could help fill in a lot of these blanks. He mentions a lot of nice people around offering to help but he can’t wait to get out there and find his son himself. Julie tells him that she has pull at the hospital so she’ll go see if she can speed things up for him while checking on Doug. Julie walks away while Mr. Doe wonders why Tommy sounds so familiar. Julie wheels Doug back over and introduces him to Mr. Doe. Julie tells him that Kayla will be sending an orderly to escort him to the tests. He thanks her. Doug asks Mr. Doe if he is married. He responds that now that he mentions it, he is and declares that he has a wife.

Steve finishes a call with Brookville police and they have no missing persons matching the description. Steve and John talk about how the man could have been walking for a couple days. John wonders if he was a veteran, he could’ve been at a VA hospital. John calls the nearest VA and asks if any patients have come up missing in the last couple of days. They say they have so John asks what they can tell him about the patient.

Marlena visits Ava with Harris at Bayview. Ava tells Marlena that when she sees Susan, she tells her that she’s not telling the truth about the accident but she doesn’t know why because she feels like she’s told the whole truth. Marlena suggests it could be something deep in her subconscious and offers to try hypnosis if she wants. Ava agrees to give it a shot. Harris wishes Ava luck and exits the room.

Xander questions EJ wanting him to shoot Ava. EJ says it’s about justice and redemption as he’s giving him the opportunity to make up for what he did to Susan. EJ knows he’s asking a lot which is why he’s willing to pay handsomely for it. Xander tells EJ that he’s not comfortable with any of this. EJ writes down his money offer and asks if that alleviates his concerns.

Brady tells Theresa that he’s no fan of Xander but he doesn’t think it’s fair to blame him for their break up as she was not exactly honest with him. Theresa admits her lies damaged their relationship. Brady adds that she escalated things by suing for full custody of Tate, which is why Victor turned on her again. Theresa acknowledges that Victor could be mercurial, but bottom line is that Victor knew they were good together and they had something special. Brady agrees that they did but it was awhile ago. Theresa argues that after all these years apart, she still thinks about him and what could’ve been. Brady starts to say he doesn’t but Theresa grabs him and kisses him. Brady pulls away and says this is a bad idea. Theresa points out that she’s single and she hears that he’s not with Chloe or Kristen anymore. Theresa asks if there is someone else. Brady admits there’s not, so Theresa thinks maybe it’s the perfect timing to give their relationship another shot.

Doug questions Mr. Doe forgetting he has a wife. He says he can’t remember her name but he can picture her face. Julie explains that he’s suffering from memory loss. Doug relates to having trouble remembering things before but he was possessed by the Devil. Doug asks if his wife is looking for him. He says he hopes so as he thinks he loved her very much.

John and Steve meet with the man in charge at the VA, who thanks them for calling about Mr. Bell. He talks about him suffering memory loss from an old head injury suffered in the war. He identifies the man as Joseph Bell. Steve asks if he has any idea where he’s originally from. He tells them that they’ve been unable to track that down as he just transferred a couple months ago and they don’t know much about him. John asks about his military files. He says his entire life history is locked up in his brain and they don’t know how to reach it.

Marlena begins hypnotizing Ava, going back to the night that Susan died. Marlena asks what happened right before the car went off the road. Ava recalls trying to escape from EJ and speeding up. Ava remembers being unable to think straight while she was imagining her son Charlie telling her what to do next and Susan kept going about her lucky hat. Ava says EJ kept getting closer and she couldn’t shake him while her vision of Charlie kept taunting her about what to do next. Ava says the car went flying off the cliff and she barely got out in time before it hit, but she must have gotten knocked out because everything goes black. Marlena asks what happened when she regained consciousness. Ava remembers lying on the ground and she could see the car in smoke and flames. Ava knew it was going to explode so she forced herself to get up and run away. Marlena asks what happened to Susan.

Xander tells EJ to forget it as no amount of money is worth another death on his conscience. Xander talks about being plagued with horrible nightmares since Susan’s death. EJ says they have that in common which is why he’s doing this as he cannot rest easy until he avenges his mother’s death. Xander tells him that he feels terrible about what happened to Susan and he’s so sorry as she didn’t deserve it. EJ tells Xander to do something about it then because Susan will not be able to rest in peace until Ava pays for what she did. EJ declares that Xander owes it to Susan to help him. Xander argues that EJ wants him to get rid of Ava for him, so he can make sure that he takes the fall and takes out two birds with one stone. EJ says if Xander gives him what he wants, he’ll have no reason to double cross him. Xander feels he has plenty of reason to want him to pay and tells him to get the hell out. EJ warns that he’s let his mother’s death go unavenged for far too long, so it’s time for Xander and Ava to pay the price. EJ then exits.

Harris returns to Ava’s room as Marlena finishes hypnosis and asks how it went. Ava responds that she didn’t remember anything new. Marlena decides she will consult with Ava’s doctors to see if it can help her remember more. Marlena tells Ava that she’s sorry she couldn’t do more. Ava thanks her and says she appreciates her kindness. Harris then walks Marlena out.

Brady questions Theresa wanting to jump back in to a relationship with him, reminding her how toxic they were at times and how much they hurt each other. Theresa argues that the good times outweigh the bad. Theresa reminds him of their makeshift wedding in their bedroom that wasn’t official but was the most romantic night of her life. Brady tells Theresa that he does not want to go back down that road with her, now or ever. Brady then asks Theresa to just go, so she then exits.

The John Doe known as Joseph Bell comments on Doug and Julie being obviously in love. Doug notes they’ve been married over 50 years and they talk about their memories. Joseph talks about singing along to the radio. Doug sings “Tea For Two” which Joseph recognizes and says he used to dance with his wife to it. Joseph suggests they dance, so they do as the three of them sing together.

John assumes Joseph doesn’t have any family they can contact. Steve brings up that Joseph talked about trying to find his son. The man at the VA confirms he’s talked about it but was fuzzy on the details. John asks if there’s anything else he can share. He says he can’t share his medical information but gives a file on Joseph’s military history. John looks through it and sees that Joseph served in the Korean War. John then comes across something and says he doesn’t believe this.

Julie thanks Doug and Joseph for the song and dance, saying she can’t remember the last time she had so much fun. Joseph praises Doug’s voice. Doug tells him that his dancing was very entertaining. Julie says she does need to get Doug home. Joseph says he enjoyed meeting them. Doug and Julie hope he figures his name out and finds his son. Joseph thanks them and feels he will get some answers pretty soon.

John informs Steve that Joseph Bell served in the same unit as his biological father, Yo Ling. John talks about gathering as much information he could and it’s definitely the same unit. Steve calls it a coincidence and that they must have known each other. John guesses they are about to find out.

Brady tells himself that Theresa is out of her mind as they are not right for each other and never have been. Brady then thinks back to their makeshift wedding that she referenced.

Theresa sits outside the Brady Pub, crying over an old photo of her and Brady. Xander then walks by and is surprised to see her.

EJ walks through the park and makes a call, saying he has a job for them as he wants them to kill Ava Vitali.

Harris returns to Ava’s room and says he’s sorry that was a bust. Ava reveals it wasn’t a bust as she lied to Marlena. Harris questions what she’s talking about. Ava declares that she remembers everything now and that Susan Banks is alive!

Steve meets Abe in the town square and asks how his date with Paulina went. Abe calls it a disaster.

Paulina goes to see Rafe at Jada’s apartment and tells him to stop dragging his feet and accept her job offer. Paulina declares that she wants him as her police commissioner and she’s not leaving until he signs on the dotted line.

At the Brady Pub, Belle encourages Brady that she thinks it’s for the best. Brady remarks that Philip is just lucky the police department was in between police commissioners, otherwise Philip would be in jail after he left the note for Shawn. Brady apologizes as he knows she has compassion for Philip. Belle says she just knows he wasn’t in his right mind and needed help, so she is compassionate for that because of what’s going on with Shawn. Belle mentions not hearing from Shawn since Marlena put him on 24 hour hold and calls it the longest 24 hours of her life.

Shawn meets with Marlena in her office at the hospital. Marlena asks how he’s feeling. Shawn responds that he’s grateful that Marlena put him on the 24 hour hold but when he thinks about yesterday, it’s like he was a completely different person and he’s kind of embarrassed. Marlena understands he was in pain and says he did the right thing by asking for help. Shawn knows staying here last night was good for him, but he’d like to go home now.

Jada finds Kayla at the hospital and asks if she has a minute because an officer found an elderly man wandering on the side of the road. Jada notes that he seemed slightly confused and had some bumps and bruises, so she asks Kayla to take a look at him. The officer wheels the man in. Kayla greets him and asks for his name. He responds that he hoped she would tell him.

Shawn knows one night in the hospital didn’t cure him and he realizes quitting therapy was a big mistake. Shawn wants to get started again and promises to stick with it this time. Shawn thinks he will get better faster by being at home with Belle. Marlena knows Belle would like that too and says there’s no reason not to lift the hold. Shawn thanks her. Marlena says she will get the paper work started. Marlena asks Shawn to promise to get help if he starts feeling the way he did again.

Rafe tells Paulina that unless the city council amends it’s policy on supervisors dating subordinates, he’s not going back. Paulina assures that she filed an appeal first thing this morning, asking them to change the rules so that each relationship can be evaluated on a case by case basis, but they have to vote on it. Rafe argues that he knows how these things work and they can take weeks or months, so until then, he’s not going back to the job. Paulina suggests he could just stop seeing Jada.

Kayla questions the man at the hospital not knowing who he is. He explains that the officers told him that he was John Doe but he doesn’t remember his name and he doesn’t have an ID. Kayla says they need to take a look at him and make sure he’s alright. Kayla asks if it’s okay to admit him as John Doe to get things rolling. He jokes that he’s been called worse in the past but he can’t remember those either. He asks for the officer to keep him company but she says she has to get back to work. She tells him that it was nice meeting him. He thanks them for their help. Kayla then takes him to a hospital room.

Belle tells Brady that she has to get to the hospital. Brady tells her to keep him posted. John arrives and asks how Belle is holding up. Belle says as well as can be expected. John offers to buy them lunch but Belle says she was on her way to see Shawn. John assures that he has their support as Belle exits.

Shawn finds Jada at the hospital and says he’s glad he ran in to her, bringing up that Paulina relieved him of his duties as police commissioner and that she wanted to reinstate Rafe. Jada confirms that Paulina came by yesterday to ask Rafe to come back. Shawn says that’s great and that Rafe didn’t deserve what happened to him. Jada says she’ll tell him he said that. Shawn also wanted to ask Jada how she feels about being partners again since he knows things have been awkward between them and that he screwed up pretty badly. Jada assures that it would be great to work with him again. Shawn says that’s awesome and he can’t tell her how much that means to him. Shawn hopes Rafe feels the same way. Jada thinks he does but notes that Rafe hasn’t accepted the job yet and is seriously thinking about turning it down.

Rafe tells Paulina that they have already established that even if the city council change the decision, it could take a long time and he doesn’t want to be separated from Jada for even a day. Paulina sees in his eyes that she’s not going to change his mind which he confirms. Paulina understands since she’s been separated from Abe for months and it’s been killing her. Rafe asks if Abe has made any progress on getting his memory back. Paulina says no, though he did take her on a date. Rafe asks how it went. Paulina guesses that last night was the swan song to their marriage.

Steve encourages Abe that the date couldn’t have been that bad. Abe guesses it was okay at first, but then he asked Paulina to tell him how they met and she told him that she was planning to bulldoze the town square and to destroy his reputation to pull it off. Steve guesses that wasn’t her finest hour but points out that they got past it. Abe argues that lying seems to be Paulina’s modus operandi and he’s sick of being lied to. Abe declares that he’d much rather be alone than be lied to again.

Kayla checks on the man in the hospital and notes that he’s dehydrated so they are going to get him fluids. Kayla starts asking questions by asking what year it is. He confirms it’s 2023 and the year of the rabbit. Kayla asks if he knows who the President is but he says he tries to stay out of politics. Kayla asks how old he is. He jokes that he must be pretty old. He asks Kayla what the verdict is. Kayla thinks he did pretty well and decides that she will let him rest, then she will come back to reassess. He tells Kayla that he has to get out of here as soon as he can, because he’s on a very important mission.

Steve tells Abe that Paulina made some mistakes but she eventually owned up to them and she isn’t lying anymore. Abe questions why he would want to fall in love all over again with a woman like that. Steve suggests that the dude who fell in love with Paulina before wasn’t self righteous.

Rafe tells Paulina that he’s sorry things didn’t go well with Abe and asks if there’s anything he can do to help besides breaking up with Jada to accept the commissioner job. Paulina suggests Rafe could help her figure out who to hire because she needs someone as police commissioner ASAP. Jada then comes home, so Rafe asks what about her?

Belle goes to the hospital and finds Shawn, who says he was just texting her. Shawn informs her that Marlena is letting him go home and he’s just waiting on the paper work to go through. Belle asks if that means he’s feeling better. Shawn confirms he’s starting to feel like his old self. Belle says she is so glad because he really scared her last night. Shawn apologizes and promises it won’t happen again. Belle says she only cares that he’s okay and no matter how hard things get, he can always count on her and her whole family. Belle adds that John said to tell him that everyone loves him and is there for him as she hugs Shawn.

John tells Brady that he guesses he’s glad Philip is alive but complains about all that Philip put Brady through. John asks if Brady is sure he doesn’t want to press charges. Brady admits a big part of him does but Chloe and Belle are right that it’s not what Victor would’ve wanted and part of him is going to honor that man’s memory somehow. John gets that. Brady admits that he misses Victor and that it wasn’t easy being his grandson, but he knows Victor loved him and he loved Victor too. John states that Victor had a big heart and that they looked after each other after Brady’s mother died and even became friends. Brady brings up that they were once mortal enemies. John talks about Victor bringing him to Salem to be a pawn in his scheme but back then he was so messed up, suffering from memory loss, and didn’t even know who he was.

Kayla returns to John Doe’s hospital room with Marlena. He jokes about all the beautiful women around. Kayla then exits the room. He identifies that Marlena is a shrink which she confirms. He tells her that he’s not crazy. Marlena says they don’t think he is but she was wondering if she could spark his memory a bit. Marlena brings up Kayla saying he was found on the side of the road and asks if he knows how he got there. He said he was walking for a couple of days. Marlena calls that a long time. He jokes that it would be better if he had a car. Marlena asks if he recalls what his destination was. He tells her it was Salem. Marlena asks if he remembers why he came. He reveals that he came to Salem to find his son. Marlena questions his son living here in Salem. He says he’s been looking for him for years and a couple nights ago, he had a dream that he was nearby, so he started walking. Marlena asks what his son’s name is but he says he doesn’t know as he’s never met him, but thanks to his dream, he’s sure that he is right in this area. Marlena questions how he will know when he finds him then. He calls that a good question and asks if she thinks he’s crazy. Marlena understands there’s a very strong bond between parents and their children. He says his son need him and he needs him. He talks about wishing he was there for him growing up and recalls a lot of fighting at home. Marlena asks what he remembers about home. He remembers a farm. Marlena suggests he could be from Brookville but he says that doesn’t ring a bell nor does being a farmer. He declares that all he knows is that he has to find his son if it’s the last thing he ever does.

John asks how Brady is holding up since it’s been a rough couple months losing Victor and losing custody of Rachel. Brady adds Chloe being engaged to Xander and admits it’s been no walk on the beach but he’s hanging in there. John asks if there’s any chance he could talk Chloe out of marrying Xander. Brady admits he tried but thinks it’s a lost cause so it’s just something he will have to suck up, deal with, and move on from as he needs to focus on getting Rachel back anyway. John encourages Brady not to give up on love completely. Brady says maybe it’s just not in the cards for him. John disagrees and argues that he never knows what tomorrow is going to bring. John is sure that there’s a woman out there for him eventually.

Shawn tells Belle that maybe he should go to an AA meeting with Brady like she wanted. Shawn doesn’t think he’s an alcoholic but acknowledges that he’s been drinking too much and that needs to stop. Belle thinks Brady would be more than happy to go to a meeting with him as long as it’s his idea. Shawn asks even after he called Brady’s life a hot mess. Belle doesn’t think Brady will hold it against him. Shawn feels he still owes him an apology. Shawn mentions that he ran in to Jada earlier and they cleared the air which Belle is glad to hear. Shawn adds that Jada said she was fine being partners again, so if the new commissioner doesn’t have a problem with it then that means he can go back to work. Belle doesn’t think that’s a very good idea.

Jada asks what’s going on as Rafe explains that Paulina needs a new police commissioner and since they haven’t changed the policy on dating, he was recommending Jada. Rafe reminds Jada that they agreed she would be the perfect choice when Rawlings appointed Shawn. Rafe praises Jada to Paulina and adds that she’s respected by everyone. Paulina acknowledges that he makes a strong case and she’s all for supporting fellow women of color. Rafe assures that she won’t find anyone better than Jada and he can’t think of any reason not to hire her immediately, but Jada says she can think of one. Jada points out that Rafe would be prevented from coming back to the force and she’s not going to let him throw away his career because of her. Rafe argues that he won’t allow her to pass up a once in a lifetime opportunity. Jada thanks Rafe but says she’s going to have to decline. Paulina then gets a text and announces that the city council has agreed to amend the policy so there is nothing to stop Rafe from returning. Rafe asks what about Jada. Jada points out that now that the policy is changed, he can come back. Rafe and Jada go back and forth until Paulina announces that she has already made her decision.

Abe questions Steve thinking he’s self righteous. Steve apologizes and is just frustrated because Abe doesn’t remember how happy he was with Paulina. Abe admits that he’s scared and that Paulina gets to him. Abe states that he doesn’t even remember her, but she gets to him, so he’s scared. Steve understands love is scary and out of control. Steve knows Abe’s instincts tell him to run. Steve apologizes and says he’s really tired so he just popped off. Abe acknowledges that he told the truth.

Shawn questions Belle not thinking he should go back to work. Belle says not right now when he’s been going through so much, so she thinks he should take time off and not jump back in to such a high pressured job. Shawn swears he can handle it and that if things get to be too much, he’ll stop. Shawn adds that he’ll be seeing Marlena twice a week, so he really thinks he’ll be fine. Belle then agrees if that’s what he wants. Shawn thanks her and they hug.

John Doe tells Marlena that his gut tells him he’s closer to finding his son than ever before, but he can’t find him while stuck in a hospital bed. Marlena says nobody will keep him from finding his son, but she thinks it’d be best for him to rest here and get his strength back up. Marlena adds that she will try to put the pieces of his life back together and hopefully help find his son. Marlena brings up that her husband John is a private investigator and she’s sure he would be happy to take his case. He agrees that he needs all the help he can get. Marlena says they all do. He talks about everyone being so nice so maybe it was meant to be that he was brought here to Marlena. He declares that this could be the beginning of a real friendship. Marlena says she thinks he may be right.

Rafe returns to his office with Jada and places his police commissioner name plate back on the desk. Jada praises Paulina’s decision and tells Rafe that he belongs in that chair. Rafe says he doesn’t know about that but he’s happy to be back. Jada brings up all the nice things he said about her which Rafe says were all true. Jada says she really appreciated it and it meant a lot to her. Jada brings up Rafe telling her the other day that he was falling in love with her. Jada wants Rafe to know that she feels the same way as she’s falling in love with him too. Rafe and Jada then kiss.

Belle gets a text that Paulina put out a press release about Rafe being reinstated as police commissioner. Shawn says that’s great and if he can just get out of here, he can get back to her, his job and his life. Belle says she will go check on the paper work to see what’s taking so long. Belle adds that after that, he is coming home and taking the rest of the day off. Shawn says he won’t argue. Belle suggests she can make them lunch and they can binge watch a new murder mystery on Peacock. Belle thinks after that, they should get back in to a normal routine. Shawn says that sounds great as Belle walks away.

Abe stands at the Tom and Alice plaque and says he’s so glad their town square wasn’t torn down as they seem like very nice people. Paulina approaches and guesses he means unlike her. Paulina says she didn’t bother him as she knows he doesn’t want anything to do with her. Abe says that’s not true. Abe asks Paulina what she says to starting over again. Paulina responds that she likes that.

Steve joins John at the Pub. John hopes Abe and Paulina find their way back to each other because they deserve it. John and Steve toast to taking the rest of the day off and celebrating. Marlena enters and asks about them celebrating. Steve announces that they just wrapped their latest case. Marlena calls that wonderful because she has a new case for them that she thinks they will find very interesting.

Kayla informs John Doe that his CT scan is almost ready so someone will escort him to it. Kayla asks how things went with Marlena. He calls her an angel and says that her husband is going to help him find his son. Kayla mentions her husband being his partner and declares that if anyone can find his son, they can.

Brady is at home with a photo of Rachel when he is surprised by his ex Theresa Donovan showing up at the door. Theresa greets him and says it’s been awhile.
