But if what he really cared about was our relationship, why didn’t he just talk to me about it? ‘Cause sometimes that’s a really hard thing to do. Why are men terrified of feelings? That wasn’t a rhetorical question. Oh. Oh, so — so now I’m speaking for all men. Okay, you said you wanted to help me. Help me understand why men do stupid things. Why they take the arguably more difficult route when they could simply open up to the person that they’re close to.

Well, according to the herpetologist at the pc zoo, not around here, not in the wild, anyway. They come from the south asian islands. Okay. So they would have to smuggle it into the us. Right. So I looked up arrests of exotic animal smugglers for the last 10 years. We got about five hits in the port charles area. Okay. Well, can you get on as soon as possible? Yeah, will do. It’s been two months since oz haggerty was killed. The hook’s letter basically said, stay out of her way, and you’ll be fine. Could this mean that she’s done? It could. Or it could mean she’s nice and rested and ready for her next victim.

much as I’d like to believethe attacks are over, serial killers rarely stop on their own. This is the longest break so far. Yeah. The lead-up to haggerty’s killing was two weeks. This has been longer than that. Isn’t that good news? Well, no one dying is good news, but it’s premature to think the killer is done. She could have been arrested for another crime or left town for some reason. Well, whoever she is and wherever she is, she’s got to be stopped and brought to justice. Okay, can you, um, talk to the manager and find out how early we can get into the haunted star the day of the party so we can set up? Yes, ma’am. And on my end, um, I need to find amazing shoes that I can still dance in, um, set up a massage that morning, talk to my lawyer.

[ Scoffs ] A little extreme, no? I mean, I know people will sue at the drop of a hat these days, but do you really need to consult your lawyer? Um, I actually didn’t mean to bring this up today, but since we’re here, I am talking to my lawyer about my will. You’re scaring me. Don’t be scared. It’s just, um, this whole mess with the necklace and not knowing who it belongs to, it just reminded me that it’s important to write things down. Besides, it’s the responsible thing to do. [ Laughs ] Well, just so you know, I am leaving everything to you. I agreed to meet rory’s parents. You did? Before the whole “love” thing, he invited me to his family’s christmas eve. And it sounds pretty casual. People coming and going all day. It seemed like the next step. Right. And that was before he said what he said and spencer showed up. It was so much easier when spencer was away. Is that horrible? You’re just being honest. But now he’s home, and I’ll probably be seeing him everywhere. You can always avoid him. That’s not sustainable. Uh, and I’m supposed to be hanging out with rory. What am I going to say? I don’t want to date rory just because I can’t have spencer. I don’t even want spencer. But you do. But I do. How’s trina doing? I thought you saw for yourself last night. Well, we didn’t exactly have a heart to heart. She told me that there’s no way for us to start over. I’m sorry. [ Inhales deeply ] Dex is a wannabe gangster. Joss was convinced that sonny wanted to hurt him. But you just said that dex works for sonny. So why would sonny hurt him? You remember how ava was the first hook victim, and that she was found at the quartermaines’, and joss was the one who found her? Yeah. Well, dex was there, too. He helped joss get ava to the hospital. He was also at charlie’s the night that brando got attacked. And he was at brando’s garage when diane miller got attacked, so… seems like a pattern to me. Sonny saw a pattern, too. That’s why he had him…detained. Detained him how? I don’t have all the details, nor do I want them. But sonny got dex out of police custody, and then dex just vanished. Josslyn figure that sonny was behind it, and, um…she went to pozzulo’s to look for him. Well, obviously, she found him. He’s sitting or… standing right there. Yeah, well, it’s more complicated than that. The guy who was questioning dex was not listening to josslyn. She had to call michael for backup. And then that’s when things got pretty heated, dangerous. That’s ridiculous. Sonny would never let any of his people hurt josslyn. All I know is that it was a major confrontation. If joss was mad at sonny before, it’s on a whole nother level now. Joss is upset because her mom and sonny split up, and now sonny has moved on to nina. So I sympathize, but sonny has always been more than decent to josslyn. It — it’s — it’s not about that. Whatever happened at pozzulo’s, whatever sonny did to dex, josslyn hates him for that. Alright. I don’t understand. Did something happen to britt? Obrecht: She’ll never have children. Aunt liesl, she could change her mind about that. When britta’s gone, there’ll be nothing. Why do you keep talking about britt leaving? It’s not my story to tell. That may be true, but it’s obviously tearing you up. You have to let it out.

That she’s seen the truth and wants nothing to do with him. I-I’m not saying that whatever sonny did to dex was okay, but the guy went to work for him. And is still working for him. Exactly. Joss has

no idea what dex didto get in trouble with sonny or how badly he may have screwed up. For all we know, sonny’s going easy on the guy. Don’t try telling joss that. Well, obviously, this dex is manipulating her. If joss is mad at sonny, then she’s going to jump on anything that makes him look bad. And dex knows that, and he’s using it. Does anyone work here? I think that’s your cue. Yeah. Hey, what can I get you? Um, cheeseburger to go. Medium rare, please. Coming right up. Dex, right? Uh, that’s me. You are? Spencer cassadine. Sonny corinthos’ nephew. Like, uh, maybe you say you love to cook when in reality, you only know how to make pasta. Or you talk about your love of exercise when you haven’t seen a gym in weeks. You’re right. I am? You’re terrible at giving relationship advice. And, yes, people are on their best behavior for the first few dates. But if you want to go the distance with someone, you’re eventually gonna have to open up and show that person who you really are. That’s it. Just no? No one wants the real me. Because I went through something similar to what you’re facing with my own father. He had alzheimer’S. When I found out, it was the worst moment of my life. And I thought I had already lost him. But I was wrong because at the end of his life, there were flashes of his old se– of his old self. And then when his memory loss started setting in and his — his defenses were — were going away… …I saw another side to my father. We were so honest with each other at that time. More honest than we’ve — we’ve ever been before he even got sick. Alzheimer’s takes a lot. But at the end, those times we had… …they were a gift.

And then there’s the whole problem of victor, which I guess leaves us in a state of limbo. And maybe you’re done waiting, but I’m just hoping that you’d be willing to press pause for now.

[ Footsteps approach ] Finn? Son. Huh? Hey, uh, sorry. I just — I zoned out there for a minute. I-I was just thinking about, uh… you look practically frozen. Where’s your coat? Did you leave it in the car? I don’t know. I just — I was walking, and… you know what? It turns out I really am hungry. Would you mind flagging down the waitress and getting us something to eat, and I can catch up with my friend? One mixed appetizer platter coming up. Neither of us fell for that. Yeah, well, I’m not a very good liar. I’m a truth teller. I try to be. And you have the truth written all over your face. So what’s going on? I took your advice and I followed up with elizabeth. And? And things are over for us. Who the hell are you to lecture me about integrity? All this talk about being honest with maxie? You’re the one who ran that data set to protect yourself.

[ Scoffs ] Dr. Gatlin-holt — you know what? You’re absolutely right. Huh. Where you going? To reset my moral compass. I allowed myself to falter, but thankfully, you — you [Chuckles] Reminded me of the man that I truly am — one who would never betray maxie, even if it cost me my company, my freedom, or anything else.

[ Door opens ]

[ Stammers ] I mean, I get that spinelli’s your friend, but — my best friend, the father of my eldest, my person, and the last time spinelli had bad vibes from someone was peter. Okay, but comparing austin and peter? No, no, I know austin is not peter. But after everything I’ve been through, it’s hard for me to trust, britt. Most importantly, it’s hard for me to trust my own judgment. Spinelli, give it back. What? I can’t give it back. It was never in your possession in the first place. Well, hand it over now, then. [ Chuckles ] Sorry to interrupt. Um, aiden is doing a-a family tree project, and nikolas was kind enough to let me go through some of laura’s stuff. So he gave you the keys to the castle. Literally. Well, we planned for elizabeth to come tomorrow. Would you mind coming then? It’s — I know you came all this way, but ava and I were — no, no, it’s — it’s okay. Actually, I’ll go. Are you sure? [ Elizabeth sighs ] Hey, spencer is upstairs. He might be moving back in. We have to be careful. Yeah, that’s not our only problem. Finn found those. Apparently, he saw the same bottle here at wyndemere. He started asking a whole bunch of questions, wanted to send the cops over, but I stopped him.

[ Sighs ] How?

[ Chuckles ] Congratulations. You’re gonna be a father again. To my child. I’m sorry that things didn’t work out with you and elizabeth. Are you sure it’s over? Does this have to do with what happened with jeff? Well, a lot more went down. But it’s not my place. You know, for an addict such as yourself, it wouldn’t be surprising if you thought about having a drink tonight. Why don’t you pass me a spoon? Here. Thank you. Okay, you know you can tell me anything, right? I did have such a nice time playing with donna. Yeah.

[ Both chuckle ] Josslyn, she stopped by, and she made it very clear that she thinks that this, you and me, is just only temporary, and then my head started spinning, and I started to wonder if all this pain and agony that we have to go through to be in this relationship — if it would be worth it if we didn’t survive. The only thing we can do is move forward. Carly has, right? Yeah, yeah. Okay, so? I-I totally get that. And then I see the blocks, and then I… I see this “mommy” picture, and then I start to think about what it will mean if I get closer to donna. How so? It’s really awkward for me to talk about, because I feel like it stops me from moving forward. But you know this — the reality is, I am a woman whose baby was stolen from me, a daughter who was kept from me her entire life. So I have this big hole that will never go away inside of my heart that I always keep trying to fill. And the more time that I spend with donna… …the more I’m afraid that the lines could be blurred. We agreed on a fee for you to tell drew some story about how both parents were dead so there would be no one else for him to go looking for. The terms changed. I’m not made of money. That’s a shame. Maybe I should call drew and tell him what’s going on. Or I could find that nice young woman that he’s lying to on your behalf. Or… you could pay me what I’m worth, and I’ll think about calling drew back and telling him that I remember who this girl’s papa is and how the whole family moved on to the great beyond. Willow, are you sick?

[ Scoffs ] What makes you think — my son. Oscar. He was sick, too. Is it…? It’s leukemia. I’m so sorry. What do the doctors say? I’m in stage iv.

[ Sighs ] So, yeah, it’s pretty aggressive, and unless I can find a family member or a close enough match for a bone marrow donation… …I don’t know.

Did you tell finn thatyou’re pregnant with my kid? I panicked. I had to think on my feet, and I had to explain why I ordered prenatal vitamins that weren’t for a patient. Well, why didn’t you tell him that you were pregnant with his child? I had to keep him away from this place! And it explains why I’ve been here and why I keep coming back.

Willow… why didn’t you say anything as soon as you found out? Chemotherapy could… hurt the baby during the first trimester, so I made up my mind to wait. I figured it couldn’t get that much worse, right? Well, stage iv. What’s the prognosis now? I’m getting chemo, but it’s not enough. I need a bone marrow transplant, and the best chance for a match is with a family member, but I don’t have any. Does — does michael know? Yeah, he does now. He immediately forgave me for keeping it a secret. He’s been wonderful and supportive. Yeah. No surprise there. The only other people who know are tj and my doctors. If we had known, we could have helped. I want to shield wiley from this for as long as possible, and the quartermaines and carly, god love them, but they wear their hearts on their sleeves. Could you imagine if brook lynn or olivia found out? One look at them, and wiley would know something is wrong. Promise me. But you threatening to hurt spinelli, my best friend in the whole world, georgie’s father? That is a huge red flag. Willow: Please. You cannot say anything to anyone about my diagnosis. Willow, I — I just — I want to give wiley a few more weeks of happiness. And, frankly, i need a few weeks of happiness before everyone starts treating me like a sick person. I get it. Well, you won’t have me to bother you about it anymore. But I’m sure once I call the commissioner, she’s gonna want to get to the bottom of this. No, you can’t do that. Sure I can. Esme’s a danger to everyone in this town. And if you think I’m gonna protect nick for you, you’re mistaken. Spencer’s been released from pentonville? That’s right. Oh, just in time for the holidays. I don’t know, but I suspect it has to do with the cassadines. The invader reported that the last she was seen was on pier 55. Which is where you take the launch to — to spoon island, yes. Oh, god. Why would she go back to a house full of people that wanted to kill her? Maybe to retrieve something that she needed. Personal items, maybe money. Well, after that recent article in the invader, it’s only a matter of time now. Right? Not necessarily. Alexis and her paper may have hurt our investigation, not helped it. Can you overdose on vitamins? You can overdose on pretty much anything. We need to pump her stomach immediately. Are you insane? You know, this little routine of yours is getting pretty old. Oh, don’t look now, but nikolas might not be the only one who cares about this baby. I appreciate all the help you’ve given me. But you were out of line suggesting that my uncle victor tried to kill my grandmother. That’s just — no. You would be wise not to put your faith in your great uncle. So I should put my faith in you instead? I was referring to a higher power. “And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” It’s doing my time in here that will set me free. Oh. Not the truth. And, by the way, for a guy who quotes scripture, you sure are quick to sit in judgment of my uncle. I didn’t accuse victor of anything new. Believe me. That doesn’t make him guilty. Nor does it make him innocent, either. That is for a jury to decide, just like they did with you. And, by the way, there’s a glaring difference between you and my uncle victor. He is on the outside while you are stuck in here.

[ Sighs ] Okay. My dear spencer… the difference is I am a sinner seeking redemption while your uncle wouldn’t know the meaning of the word. Not exactly brimming with holiday cheer, are you? The necklace may be a dead end, but my plans are still very much alive. So you have another angle? Always. Care to fill me in? In due time. That’s what redemption’s my family’s history isn’t exactly spotless. No one’s is. But people can change, right? That’s what redemption’s about. Before redemption comes repentance. Is victor prone to asking for forgiveness?

[ Both chuckle ] I didn’t think so. And then there’s us. Putting in the work, trying to make amends for our mistakes. That’s a bond even stronger than blood. But we have both. Us it’ll be christmas soon. So? So I am missing out on all of it. The music, the decorations. Magic. I can’t even see out of the window. He even let me use the saw. We decorated it together. It was the best afternoon of my life, and I can’t tell you how much it meant to me. Those few hours actually changed me. [ Sighs ] Well, uh, I, uh — I visited the doctor, and he said that she’s got a long road ahead of her but that… she’ll pull through.

[ Sighs ] Thank god. But, uh, I was really talking about… what actually went down between the two of you. Has robert changed his mind and decided to join us? He hasn’t answered my texts. Maybe he just needs some time. I know my brother. He’s brooding, sitting around, worrying and waiting to hear about holly’s injuries. It’s not good for him. Says the other stubborn brother.

[ Chuckles ] This is gonna be the first decent meal you’ve had in days. Evening, all. Any news on holly? Well, last we heard, she was holding her own. Well, good. Hopefully that continues and she makes a full and speedy recovery. We appreciate the well wishes. Whatever happened to holly has your family’s fingerprints all over it. With all that you and holly have been through together, there had to be a bigger reason that holly would betray you. Wow. You are amazing! Getting that guy to fly all the way here just to talk. I envy how you give your whole heart. And I hate that I broke it. I’m used to it. And I hate that, too. [ Clears throat ] Sit down! I am so disappointed in you. It is mutual! You and my father have both disregarded my wishes. And I would do it again. Even though you squandered the time I bought so you could reunite with your father. No. You may be all powerful on the outside, uncle victor, but you have competition in here. I didn’t know that you and my mom were, um, seeing each other. I mean, although things looked pretty cozy between you two at the quartermaine picnic, and, well, you did go down to florida to help my mom with her adoptive mother’s grave, which was above and beyond. To be honest, I’ve had a thing for carly for a while now. Well, still, since you’ve been back from jacksonville, I don’t know, I guess i got more of a friendship vibe. The — the point is, is that if carly and i are openly gonna be a couple then that relationship, it could strengthen the sec’s case that I gave her some sort of privileged business information. So we just gotta be casual. We gotta be casual in public and probably in private, too. How uncomfortable is this conversation making you right now? Oh, you and my mom? Hey, I mean, you know, you two are adults. And, uh, hey, I-I gotta admit, too, since my mom’s been back from florida, this is the happiest I’ve seen her in a long time. She makes me happy, too. I mean, we can’t meet at the quartermaines’ because I live there, and there’s always someone popping in in unexpected moments in that house. Like when olivia walked in on chase in brook lynn’s bedroom, for example. Oh, you heard about that? Yeah, well, brook lynn filled me in. That was a moment. And if we meet here, this is carly’s house. Then we gotta, like, time our visits when donna and joss aren’t here. And it just seems… it seems dishonest. Maybe I just got to accept the fact that the timing isn’t right for us to be together right now. Well, what if this is the only time you get? Willow: I’m fine. Please do not call for an ambulance. Okay. Do you still feel dizzy? You’re not warm, but I’m gonna check your temperature. I’m not dizzy, and I’m — I’m not running a fever. I’d try and get him to cooperate. And instead, I called michael a liar. You know, I did that for your benefit, you know? I wanted you to know that I knew what you had done. But now I gotta tell you to your face. I know that you are behind what happened to dex. I never asked you to cover for me, and I never would. Okay, that’s good. Maybe then you can tell me about anna’s escape. All right, so take it easy and limit all activity for at least one more week. No offense, but how do you know? I told you I provided her help when she reached pentonville. The guy who was supposed to be driving the van ended up in a parking lot, tied up with a bag over his head. He was unharmed. Well, I’m happy to hear that. I’m sure you are, because whoever conducted anna’s escape clearly didn’t want to hurt anyone else. All they wanted was for anna to get out of there. What happened to anna? Where is she? Who else has a whole bunchof safe houses in the area? Do you see? You see what I’m talking about here? It all adds up. You broke anna out of police custody, and I’m not doing a damn thing about it! I don’t want to be, you know, too involved in my mom’s personal life, but I know from my own experience that you, uh — you have less time than you think. I’m sure you’d like to believe that you have… years and decades to spend with the person that you love to do what you dreamed of. And hopefully we get that time. If we do, but, you know, it’s not — it’s not guaranteed. Is this about the tension between you and your father? Are you worried that sonny’s gonna retaliate? Sorry if my medical skills don’t meet your high standards. You know better, okay? If you had taken me to the hospital instead of to your dorm room, okay, the er doctor would have had to report the bullet wound, and I would be behind bars. I owe you. You’re welcome. You asked me before how I got shot. Yeah, and you didn’t tell me. You don’t need to know the details to know it involves something illegal. You work for sonny. Of course you’re involved in something illegal. None of this is fine, dex. Yes, I want — I want to dismantle sonny’s life but not at the cost to my mom and sister. Look, their involvement was a one-time thing. Yeah, maybe for my mom. But you and I both know that josslyn is an issue. Look, I need you to hear me when I tell you. I’d rather blow this whole operation up than put my sister at risk. You need to find a way to keep her at arm’s length. Do you understand? I understand. Look, that’s why I need you to leave now and never come back. It’s not easy for me to acknowledge my feelings. It’s something I’m working on in therapy — taking time to process my emotions instead of letting them bottle up until they overwhelm me in a very public and messy explosion. You know, it can be really scary admitting to yourself how you really feel. Revisiting dreams that you had for someone who’s gone that you know isn’t gonna come true. I-I feel like I’ve learned that the more time passes, the more I’ve been able to, I guess, accept those dreams. And even smile a little.

[ Chuckles ] Who do you dream about? Oh, um, my first child. Daughter. You know, she was stillborn. I had no idea. I’m so sorry. It’s okay. I-I think about her all the time.

[ Chuckles ] Liam would have been about a year now. He was born near christmas. So he would have been too young to understand who santa was. But I think brando and i would have still taken him to see santa. It never happened, but… the thought of it still makes me smile. You know, carly, I don’t need another lecture from you. I didn’t come here to pick a fight with willow. I didn’t come here to orchestrate a run-in with wiley. I just came here to reach out to willow on sasha’s behalf. I believe you. I’m sorry, baby. I should have been more careful. I honestly did not mean to get so upset.

I may not have a father that I can count on, but I am grateful that I have uncles who look out for me, the two of you, and uncle sonny and uncle martin. Oh, you know my brother martin, victor. Yeah. Luckily, the application includes an essay where I can explain my reason for changing. That’s great. Are you gonna disclose that you treated a gunshot wound off the books? Yeah, I don’t think I can include that, actually.

[ Chuckles ] What prompted this? I mean, changing majors is a big deal. Not really. Communications was always just a placeholder until I figured out what I really wanted to do. And now I know. How do you know? What made you realize you wanted to study medicine? I hate feeling helpless. And that’s exactly how I felt when dex got shot. I believe this is yours. Thanks. So how did it end up outside the gatehouse? Must have dropped it. That’s pretty careless. Not your usual M.O. Yeah, well, it wasn’t a usual night. I’d just been shot. Shot doing what? Helping anna devane escape — on sonny’s orders. I, uh — I collaborated with you for anna’s sake because she’s more than a friend of mine and robin’s mother. And you’ll do anything for robin. And stone’s memory. I even worked with you. But that doesn’t make us allies. As a matter of fact, you… you threatened spencer when he was a kid. Yeah? Spencer was never in any real danger from me, sonny. Well, you say that now, but it didn’t look that way. Listen, I don’t know what… anna sees in you, but I do know that your first loyalty is always to yourself. I’m here as an intermediary with a business offer from a third party. And, yes, admittedly, there is something in it for me, but there is a hell of a lot more in it for you. The ccrb is already reviewing chase’s appeal. The meeting started 15 minutes ago. Okay, so take the letter over. You know, do your whole lights and sirens thing. Yeah, that’s not gonna work. Why won’t it work? You’re the one who begged me to write it. Yes. They needed this information last friday. No. Yeah. I’m sorry. You know what? I’ll go with you. I will talk to the review board myself. And I’m gonna make them see that they don’t have all the evidence, that I have pivotal information — which you didn’t hand over to them. Because I was unavoidably delayed. Okay. They’re not gonna let you into the meeting, but just say, for argument’s sake, that they would let you into the meeting, what’s the “unavoidable delay”? I don’t know. I’ll come up with something crazy convincing. What? Chase doesn’t want that. You and I both know the last thing he wants is for you to save his badge with a lie. Sasha: The metro court is sponsoring this year’s community decoration project, so nina asked if I would oversee the actual decorating. And, clearly, you accepted. That’s really generous of you. Honestly, I’m just happy to have something to focus on. I pitch in where I can at deception, but after all the pr that I generated last year — and not in a good way — there is only a limited amount that I can do. And who doesn’t love decking the halls? Right?

[ Chuckles ] Are you really supposed to do this all on your own? Uh, volunteers should be arriving soon. Fingers crossed they actually show up. Well, one of them’s already here, so, uh, put me to work. Yeah? Absolutely. ‘Cause I was just teasing before. No, you’d be doing me a favor. Trust me. Need something to focus on, too? Actually, I do. [ Knocking continues ] Nina. Hi. I am so — did I — did I wake you? I was just resting my eyes. What — what can I do for you? I know it’s — it’s pretty bizarre that I’m here right now, but I was wondering — can i come in just for a few minutes? Wiley’s at school, so if this is an attempt to accidentally run into him — no, no, no, it’s — it’s not. I actually chose this time because I knew wiley wouldn’t be home. I — the last thing I want is for wiley to look at me and be confused. Thank you. If you are not here about my son, then why? Well… I was hoping that you might want to help out a friend. Are you familiar with the pikeman security group? Yeah, I’ve heard of them. They do munitions and mercenary operations. Yeah, that’s exactly right. Right. Well, pikeman is interested in moving certain… classified merchandise through port charles without the interference of government or law enforcement. They feel that your organization’s facilities would be ideal for their purposes. Well, I hear what pikeman gets out of the deal. What — what do i get out of it? Money. A lot of it. For every successful shipment, pikeman is willing to pay you $10 million. There was a last-minute change. An inmate from d’archam was added to the transport. And that inmate had a guard of their own. I was made when he realized I wasn’t headed for pentonville. He drew his gun. We struggled. I got shot, and the van crashed. And anna? She managed to get away. Fortunately, my wound wasn’t too bad. How did you end up at the gatehouse? I was on foot, bleeding. I was actually looking for you. I thought you might be able to get me medical attention or, at the very least, a ride home. But I wasn’t there. No. But, uh, josslyn was. I did what I could to help dex. Joss, you did a hell of a lot more than most people would or could have done. Mom, if you hadn’t shown up and figured out a way to get him antibiotics, then who knows what would have happened? You would have had two choices. Yeah. Take him to the hospital, where he probably would have been arrested, or wait it out, and he might be dead. Look, I never want to be put in that position again. Okay? If someone in front of me is sick or hurt or in need of help at all, I need to be able to help them. So I need those skills and that training to be able to treat them. I get that. But I want you to be honest with yourself. Is that the real reason you want to be a doctor? What other reason is there? Your feelings for dex.

Why didn’t you just write the letter when I asked you the first time or the, you know — I don’t know, the eighth time? Because I was selfish. Mm. Shocked, right? I wanted my cake and to eat it, too. Which, by the way, is the dumbest expression ever. Who has cake and doesn’t want to eat it? Well, I think it just means you can’t have everything. No, I get it. Now, of course, when it’s too late. But I did. I wanted it all, you know — revenge on linc, make chase a star, keep us together. You and chase? Yeah. I was so scared that if he went back to being a cop, it would mess with my first two objectives, you know? I don’t know. I guess I just wanted the music and me to matter more. I wanted to keep chase in this world that we were making. Not doing police work. So you stalled on the letter? And now he knows. Now it’s over. I lost him. If you don’t want to talk about it, I completely understand. God knows I’ve had my fair share of people nosing into my business lately. But if you do want to talk, I’m here to listen. Well, the details are incredibly convoluted because, well…brook lynn. Got it. But the underlying issue is really simple — brook lynn and I have different priorities. Okay. How different? Well, hers was making me a pop star, while all I wanted to do was get my badge back. And it turns out she could have helped me with that. Brook lynn could have helped you get back on the force? Yeah. And chose not to. The hotel is sponsoring the community decoration project, and I actually pinned sasha to oversee the decorating. I’m sure she’ll do a great job. Yeah, she’s gonna be great. She’s at rice plaza right now as we speak, you know, with a crew of volunteers. And if I know sasha, she’s probably trying to do all the work herself. She could really use, you know, some helping hands. Isn’t that what the volunteers are for? No, I mean helping hands that belong to a friend. Would you be willing to pitch in, willow? This isn’t a great day for me. I apologize for it being so last-minute, but this is a bigger project than we thought. And, you know, I’m sure that sasha would be grateful for your help. It’s not that I don’t want to help. And this — you know, she’s had a really tough time this year, as you know. With christmas around the corner, it’s such a triggering time, she really needs her friends to rally around her, willow. Okay. It’s safe to say that most of your interactions with dex have been under highly stressful circumstances. Right? Right. Okay. When emotions are running high like that, it’s easy to get confused. So, what, you — you don’t want me to go into medicine? No, that’s not what I’m saying. Honey, sit down. Joss, pre-med is really hard, and it’s a lot of time that you could be spending doing other things with other people. And don’t get me wrong. Being a doctor is amazing. But I think it’s really important for you to be clear on your why and your motivation. Mm-hmm. Is dex a factor in your decision? I am not switching to pre-med to be dex’s on-call doctor, if that’s what you’re implying. I just want you to be truthful with yourself, that’s all. I don’t know what that means, mom. Do you want to become a doctor because it’s safer than admitting you have feelings for dex? We’ve been over this. I know. You want josslyn nowhere near our plans to take sonny down, but she insisted on helping me.

[ Sighs ] It makes sense now. What does? I knew josslyn was acting strange that night, but I was distracted, so I didn’t — I didn’t press her on it. She helped patch me up. I was actually in the gatehouse when you and willow got home, but I managed to slip out.I understand how it played out. Okay? And I’m not faulting you. I just — I still… I don’t like it. You’re definitely not gonna like what happened next. You know, when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. This isn’t a something- for-nothing situation, sonny. The risks are significant. The reward should be substantial. Well, before I even consider the offer, what’s in it for you? I’ve worked for pikeman on several occasions as a logistics contractor. Um, it was their idea to use me as an intermediary. That’s not what I asked. I’d be doing them a favor, hoping that they return it. What’s the favor? It has nothing to do with you or your organization.

[ Laughs ] You have my word. Well, your word don’t mean that much to me at this point, so… well, that’s fair enough. All right. You either believe me, or you don’T. But pikeman wanted me to bring you this offer. And here I am. They want to do business with you. And in my opinion, it’s in your best interest that you agree.

The situation with dex definitely shifted my perspective. It not only showed me that I wanted a change, but it showed me what that change was. To change your major and study medicine? So I can eventually practice medicine. This is a decision I’m making for my future. And I’m sorry, but I think parents are usually pretty excited when their kid comes to them and says that they want to be a doctor. And I will support you 1,000%, but I’m your mother. It’s my job to offer you advice. Fine. If you do have feelings for dex, there are two things you need to consider — he works for sonny. And he’s already been shot. And the odds are good he’s gonna have more violence in his life. You grew up in sonny’s world. You know what that life costs. You’re right. I do. I saw so much heartache during my years with sonny. Selfishly, I don’t want that for you, joss. Mom. You are getting way too ahead of yourself, all right? Dex and I are not there. We’re not even close. You’re not there yet. Okay. I’m not gonna lie to you. I do feel something for dex. I have yet to define what it is. I don’t even know if it will last. Half the things I know about him, I don’t like. The things I do like are… significant. But that is not the reason why I’m gonna change my whole life. I know that I can become a doctor. I know that I am smart enough, I’m hardworking enough, and I-I will do what it takes. I will put in that time and that dedication so that I never have to feel helpless the way I did with ava.

Dex saved ava’s life. Not me. And, you know, I didn’t even think about it until this very moment, but if ava had died because I didn’t know what to do… …I couldn’t put that down. So I’m doing this so that I know what to do. And, yeah, dex is a part of that. Because he did. Somehow josslyn managed to get me back to her dorm room. How, I’m not really sure, since I don’t remember any of it. By then, I was spiking a fever. Okay, look. It’s not that I don’t care about your health, okay? I do. But you do understand how concerning this is, right? I mean, were you delirious? I was pretty out of it. But I don’t think I said anything compromising to josslyn. You just said you don’t remember even getting to her dorm. How can you be sure? Well, she would have called me on it. Don’t you think? Your sister’s not one to shy away from asking questions. No, no, she’s — she’s not. Did she ask you anything about it? About us working together? No. Okay. Further proof that I didn’t slip up. I mean, she — she would have been all over me if she was suspicious. Okay. Okay. We — we dodged a bullet on that one. But it doesn’t change the fact that you committed a crime by helping anna escape. And now josslyn… look, if you go down, josslyn could go down with you. Tell me if I have this right. You thought sasha needed to be busy over the holidays. So you took over the community decoration project and nominated her to run it with no input from sasha? Well, I thought it’d be nice for her to do something for someone else. And it seems like I’m right. Does it? Yeah, it does. I mean, I just left her at rice plaza, and she was upbeat, she was energetic. And yet your first stop was to see me. If sasha’s doing so great, why does she need her friends to rally? You are spinning your own narrative, like you always do, with zero consideration for anyone else. Pick a lane, nina. Is this project good for sasha or not?

[ Sighs ] God forbid there be any shades of gray. I came here because you’re her friend, willow. Oh, clearly, it was a mistake. You think? Geez! I was so foolish into thinking that you could put our differences aside to help a friend. And there goes that narrative of yours again. You know, other people might buy your goody-two-shoes image, but not me. Willow tait, you’re as selfish as they come. Would brook lynn’s letter have made an impact on the review board’s decision? I don’t know. I mean, but the point is, she didn’t even try. And that really upsets you? Yeah, it upsets me. I thought brook lynn knew how much my badge means —

meant to me. I mean, I only told her every five seconds. But she just didn’t understand, or she didn’t care. Well, I highly doubt the latter is true. Maybe… what? Maybe brook lynn thought that she knew what you needed better than you did. Now, I’m not saying that she was right, but neither were we. We? When we decided that we knew what michael and willow needed. You know, in our minds, we were doing the right thing — taking ourselves out of the equation so that they could win custody of wiley. We were convinced that we were doing everything for the greater good, right? Maybe brook lynn thought that she was, too.

Her greater good, maybe. What if brook lynn sincerely thought that you would be better off as a singer? What if in her heart she was doing it for the both of you? I’m sorry, brook lynn. No, you’re not. Yes, I am. You never thought I was good enough for chase. Yes, I did, actually. I actually thought you were very good for chase. Really? Yeah. Yeah. Instead of him moping around about losing his badge, you — you lit a fire under him, and he started engaging in things again. Like, you know. And then you two started going out together, and forget about it. I mean, I hadn’t seen him that happy since he split with willow. You really think chase was happy? Yeah, I do. Why wouldn’t he be? Look at you. You’re smart. You’re fun. You’re creative. Very generous description. Okay. I’m being serious. You could actually do some good if you get out of your own way. Oh, why is that so hard for me sometimes? It’s like I just had tunnel vision. Like I… I couldn’t or wouldn’t see that what made chase truly happy is being a cop.

[ Sighs ] Are you sure there’s no way to fix this? Not unless you got connections with the ccrb. But I don’t think you should use them even if you did. Chase wouldn’t want you to do that either.

Another guy, a different city, so… no, no, no. See, that’s the thing. Not another city. This is the city. Port charles is a shipping hub with access to both atlantic and canadian sea lanes. Pikeman’s gonna be moving their merchandise through port charles no matter what. And, unfortunately, now that you know the plan, you don’t want to cooperate, well, then… that makes you a problem. A problem they’re gonna want to remove.

But I’m — I’m guessing with the timing of everything and the fact that they know I work for sonny… yeah, I’m sure they assume that you helped anna escape. Okay, but that’s fine, right? As long as they don’t suspect that I’m working for you. None of this is fine, dex! Yes, I want to dismantle sonny’s life, but not at the cost of my mom and sister. Look, their involvement was a one-time thing. Maybe for my mom. But you and I both know that josslyn is an issue. Look, I need you to hear me when I tell you — I’d rather blow this whole operation up than put my sister at risk. You need to find a way to keep her at arm’s length. Do you understand? I understand. [ Sighs ] No. There has to be a way out of this. There has to be. You have a point. Playing god with someone else’s life, no matter how good your intentions, it’s not fair to them. I mean, can you say “karma”? God, I am in a guardianship, which by definition means that I have no control over my life. Meanwhile, brook lynn made decisions for you that had a direct impact on your future. So it’s payback time? Seems a little ironic, no? Does that mean you think I shouldn’t judge brook lynn? That I’m a hypocrite if I do? I am simply pointing out that we’ve all made mistakes. Hey, chase, sasha. Hey. Have you heard back from the review board about my case? I mean, can’t you see everything that you have in comparison with everything that sasha has lost? She lost liam. She lost brando. She’s had nervous breakdowns multiple times. She’s under a guardianship now. But — but you… you have a perfect life. You just graduated nursing school with flying colors. You get to take days off whenever you want to “rest your eyes.” You live on this beautiful estate in michael’s family’s house with the man that you love and a son that you adore, and you have a baby on the way. Your life is perfect, but you can’t be bothered to show even one ounce of compassion to the woman that you claim is… shut up!! Shut up! Shut…up!

The review board met this morning. I wasn’t there. I’d already said my piece. I made the best case I could for you to get reinstated. Thanks. I appreciate it. Yeah. Look, man, everyone’s pulling for you. Look, I know it’s a long shot, and it probably won’t go my way, but I still can’t help but hope. Chase has been burning off nervous energy by helping me decorate.

[ Chuckles ] You want to join? Uh, yeah, yeah. I can throw up a wreath or two before I go to work. Awesome. I’ll be right back. All right. Wait. Did you volunteer here or something? No, I just kind of happened upon sasha and offered to pitch in. Ah. Of course you did.

[ Cellphone beeps ] It’s final. The review board turned down my appeal. Oh, man, I’m sorry. I’m not a cop anymore. And never will be again. Oh, I’m so glad you answered. It’s brook lynn. Yes, that brook lynn. I made a mess. I got to fix it. And I can’t do it alone.

[ Knock on door ]

[ Breathes deeply ] Are you threatening to remove me? I’m not threatening anyone. I know these people. And I know how they operate. Sonny, you’ve been in power a long time, and they’re satisfied that you can achieve their objectives efficiently. Yeah. And if I refuse? Well, they’ll go with someone else, and you’ll be reclassified a liability. So you can either make a boatload of money, or you can make a whole new set of very powerful enemies and lose everything. Ball’s in your court. But however you choose, you better choose quickly… ’cause these folks are not known for their patience.

[ Door closes ] Brick. Listen, I need you to get as much information you can on pikeman security group. Yeah. You got to get it to me as soon as you can. How dare you? This isn’t about sasha. This is about you. That is not true. Just like everything is always about you. Not true. Sasha was just the latest excuse for you to try to get closer to me to scheme your way back into wiley’s orbit.

[ Laughs ] Which, after the lies you spread, is just ludicrous! I didn’t spread any lies. Oh, really? So you didn’t tell michael that tj and I were having an affair when nothing could be further from the truth? Okay, i did do that. But that was a mistake. I said I was sorry. And if you remember correctly, you told me to drop dead. Yeah, that’s right. Because nothing else gets through to you. You do not listen. You do not stop. You just keep pushing and pushing. Go away, nina! Leave my family the hell alone! Oh, my god.
