Ava: Oh, that you’re the one that knocked out abigail at the airstrip?

Gwen: Shh!

Ava: No, I helped you out. But this mess is all yours. And yet I’m the one that they dragged down here to the station. Not to mention that this is all for nothing.

Gwen: What do you mean?

Ava: Isn’t it obvious? If chad brought abigail back from that godforsaken island, sarah can’t be far behind.

[Dramatic music]

Sarah as renee: Tom and alice horton. Long time, no see. You know, everyone keeps trying to convince me that I’m your granddaughter. But I’m not. I’m renee dumonde, and I’m here to take my life back, finally be with the man I love.

Xander: Sarah. It’s really you this time.

[Door slams]

Shin: Hmm.

Kate: Oh, mr. Shin. I didn’t know you were in salem.

Shin: Kate, please. Call me li. And I’m here for the shareholder meeting.

Kate: The shareholder meeting?

Shin: Gabi and jake have called meeting for this morning, along with ej’s son.

Kate: Johnny?

Shin: I’m getting the sense they didn’t tell you.

Kate: Uh, no, they didn’t tell me. And they’ve planned it for a time when tony and chad aren’t here and ej is in prison, which makes me think they think the time is ripe for a play.

Shin: Hmm, what is it you think they’re planning?

Kate: Well, I don’t know. But whatever it is, they’re not gonna get away with it.

Jake: Whoa. Dressed already, huh?

Gabi: The meeting is in half an hour. You expect to be instated as the ceo of dimera in your boxers?

Jake: Aw, come on. We still have time. Come on, come back to bed, just for a minute.

Gabi: I don’t want to wrinkle my dress.

Jake: All the more reason for you to take it off. I was thinking we could have a little pre-meeting celebration.

Gabi: No, we–we cannot have any distractions today. Everything is riding on today.

Jake: Fine. I’ll get dressed. But tonight we’re celebrating.

Gabi: Oh, I’ll be celebrating… getting rid of your lying, double-crossing ass.

Demon johnny: [Sighs] Time for all hell to break loose at dimera. I do love my job.

Johnny: You stop right there.

Demon johnny: You again.

Johnny: That’s right. It’s me, johnny angel, and I’m taking over.

Demon johnny: [Laughs] Do you really think you can fight the devil and win?

Johnny: You’re not as powerful as you think. In fact, you’re nothing without me.

Demon johnny: Oh, please. You’re nothing but a host body, a vessel for me to puppet.

Johnny: That’s what you think.

Demon johnny: Go away. I have work to do.

Johnny: Oh, I’m not going anywhere, and neither are you. I won’t let you hurt any more people I love.

Demon johnny: [Groans]

[Soft orchestration]

Demon johnny: [Grunts] I warned you what would happen if you fight me.

Johnny: My grandmother kicked you out. I will too.

Demon johnny: [Scoffs] Marlena and john drove me out with love. 35 years of loyalty and selflessness–ugh. But that is why I’m not worried about you. ‘Cause you don’t love anyone enough. Only yourself, johnny boy.

Johnny: That’S…not true.

Demon johnny: Only yourself. Now, go away!

[Phone rings] Hello?

Gabi: Everything okay?

Demon johnny: Why wouldn’t it be? Are we all ready for today?

Gabi: I am more than ready.

Demon johnny: You don’t think jake suspects you, does he?

Gabi: He doesn’t suspect a thing.

Demon johnny: Good. Let’s keep it that way. We need his vote to convene the meeting.

Gabi: Don’t worry. Jake is gonna get what he deserves. And I can’t wait to witness it.

Xander: Sarah. Jack told me everything.

Sarah as renee: Oh, my god. It can’t be you.

Xander: But it is. I– oh, my god, sarah. You have no idea what a relief it is to– just to see you again. All this time, I believed that you– that you threw me over on our wedding day and jumped into bed with rex. But it wasn’t you. It was never– it was never you. And I’m so terribly sorry for everything you must have gone through, getting kidnapped by kristen and trapped on a desert island for all this time.

Sarah as renee: And you were a part of the scheme.

Xander: Scheme?

Sarah as renee: Trying to make me think that I’m sarah horton.

Xander: I, uh– what are you–

Sarah as renee: You get away from me.

Xander: Sarah, please, I don’t–

Sarah as renee: Stop calling me that.

Xander: I don’t understand. Don’t you know who I am?

Sarah as renee: [Scoffs] I do. I know exactly who you are.

[Dramatic music]

Sarah as renee: Oh, really? You think you can just change the name that you go by and people will forget that as charismatic as you are, you’re also a despicable, lying son of a bitch? So whatever it is you go by, I know you as alex. And I want a divorce.

Xander: A divorce? We–we’re not married. I mean, we’re supposed to be–

Sarah as renee: Oh, how i wish that was true. But I fell for your act, and I was foolish enough to marry you, which was the worst mistake I’ve ever made.

Xander: Is this– is this some kind of joke?

Sarah as renee: [Scoffs] Not to me, it’s not.

Xander: But I– I don’t understand.

Sarah as renee: Okay. Then let me make it simple for you. I am renee dumonde. And I intend to marry the love of my life, tony.

Xander: Tony…dimera?

Sarah as renee: Yes! As soon as he gets a divorce from that pathetic woman who somehow got her hooks into him, you know, the one without a brain? And then I’m going to divorce you. To that end, I am going to go speak to don craig.

Xander: Who?

Sarah as renee: An excellent lawyer. He’s the best in town. So if you’ll excuse me.

Xander: Sarah, wait.

Sarah as renee: Damn it, alex, I told you not to call me that.

[Uneasy music]

[Line rings] Yeah, hi, jack. Um… you want to go ahead and finish that story you were trying to tell me?

Gwen: Did chad say that sarah was back?

Ava: No. But abigail knows everything, and she’s back, so…

Gwen: [Exhales heavily]

[Sniffles] Okay. Right. First things first, they don’t have a case against you. They haven’t even filed charges. Right?

Ava: Not yet.

Gwen: Right, so turning me in is not gonna help you. It’s just gonna hurt me.

Ava: Okay, like I said, abigail has already told them that I was on the scene when she was attacked. So I can be charged as an accessory.

Gwen: Yes, but they don’t– they don’t have any proof, do they? Yes, she remembers being attacked from behind, which means that you couldn’t possibly have done it.

Ava: Yes, but I didn’t do anything to help stop it, did I? They just assume that I was in on it. Which I was.

Gwen: Look at me. You are ava vitali. Yes? You have beaten murder charges, murder raps. Are you really afraid of this?

Ava: I have tried to build a different life for myself here, gwen. I’m not throwing it away. And I’m not going to prison. Plus, I don’t have rafe on my side anymore.

Gwen: Maybe not, but I’ve still got your back, as long as you’ve still got mine.

Kate: So how many people are we expecting?

Shin: The overseas members are perennially in absentia. Ej is, as you noted, unavailable. And tony and chad have quite inappropriately taken the corporate jet somewhere on personal business.

Kate: Personal business? Abigail was kidnapped.

Shin: I’m not unsympathetic. But it seems there’s always A… crisis in the dimera family.

Kate: Okay, so as far as I know, tony and chad are on their way back. So we can just postpone the meeting.

Shin: Well, I have a flight to hong kong at noon. I’m afraid I can’t push this back.

Kate: So why did they call for this meeting anyway? What’s so pressing about their agenda?

Shin: I’m afraid I’m not at liberty to discuss.

Demon johnny: Jake will never know what hit him.

Gabi: Right, yes. We’ll see you there.

Demon johnny: Why are you acting weird? Is he standing right next to you?

Gabi: Yup. Bye, now. So you’re finally dressed.

Jake: Yeah. What was that about?

Gabi: Just going over our meeting plans with johnny.

Jake: Huh. You know, I…could have sworn I heard you say, “jake’s gonna get what he deserves.”

Gabi: You will. By the end of the day, you will be ceo of dimera enterprises.

Tony: Johnny. I thought I heard someone in here.

Demon johnny: Uncle tony. I was told you and uncle chad were–were out of town.

Tony: Yes, we were. And luckily we found abigail and we got back here early this morning. Isn’t that wonderful news?

Demon johnny: Yeah, wonderful.

Tony: Well, aren’t you going to ask me if abigail’s all right?

Demon johnny: Oh, of course. I just, uh– I assumed she was fine, since you’re back here.

Tony: I see. Oh, by the way, I’d like to speak to you about something that involves the household.

Demon johnny: Okay, well, can we do it a little later? I’m–I’m kind of in a hurry, uncle T.

Tony: Wh-why? You got a date with the devil?

Demon johnny: Excuse me?

Tony: [Chuckling] I mean your movie. I see the way you’re dressed. You must be having a meeting with your producer.

Demon johnny: [Laughs] Oh, yeah. Right, right, yes. Big meeting, so…

Tony: One more thing before you go. How’s it going? “Possessed: The marlena evans story,” that is.

Demon johnny: Great. Yeah, like I just told tr, I’m already working on the sequel, so… see you.

Tony: Yeah.

Kate: So what’s going on with gabi and jake? Why all the secrecy about this meeting?

Shin: I gather there’s a desire to make some changes to the corporate structure.

Kate: Mm-hmm. What kind of changes?

Shin: Like I said, I haven’t been briefed.

Kate: Mm, but I’m sure you know something.

Shin: [Chuckles] Why don’t we wait for the meeting? Ah, here they are now.

Gabi: Hello, kate, shin.

Kate: Gabi, why didn’t you tell me that you had called a shareholders’ meeting today?

Gabi: Oh, I don’t know. Maybe because you had the audacity to oust jake from the company, and I was hoping I didn’t have to see your face.

Jake: Okay, we can get started as soon as johnny gets here, huh?

Kate: Well, I am going to call the house and see when chad and tony are due in. And perhaps they can join us remotely.

Demon johnny: They can’T.

Kate: How do you know?

Demon johnny: Well, I just, uh, came from home, and it seems they have been delayed due to a weather incident.

Kate: They’re still on the plane?

Demon johnny: From what I understand, they’re in a holding pattern over the bermuda triangle. I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about.

Shin: As I was telling kate, I can’t postpone the meeting.

Gabi: Nor would we want to.

Demon johnny: Exactly. We can accomplish everything we need without the other members of my family present.

Kate: Yeah. Well, that’s what I’m afraid of.

Demon johnny: So let’s get this show on the road, shall we?

[Tense music]

Chad: Hey.

Tony: Oh, chad. How’s abigail?

Chad: Uh, relieved to be home.

Tony: Ah, that’s good.

Chad: Say, we’re, um– we’re–we’re both very grateful for your help in tracking her down. Jack and jennifer are–are too, obviously.

Tony: Yeah, well, I’m glad everything worked out. So I suppose they’re on their way to boston, knowing that their daughter’s safe?

Chad: Yep, on the, uh– on their way to the airport as we speak.

Tony: I see. Oh, I wanted to ask you, what did you find out from ava vitali at the police station? Did she give up the name of her accomplice?

Chad: Not yet. She’s, uh–she’s still being held for questioning. So far, she’s clamming up. I suggested that I–I might be able to get the da to offer her a deal if she gives up the person who assaulted abby.

Ava: Chad is never gonna let this go. So how are you gonna help me, short of confessing?

Gwen: Well, for one thing, I won’t tell a soul that you helped kristen dimera escape police custody.

Ava: [Laughs] We did that together.

Gwen: I’m just saying.

Ava: Just saying? You’re just saying? Or are you threatening me? ‘Cause if you dare breathe one word of that, I will tell everyone that not only did you bash abigail over the head at the airstrip, but you knew that sarah had been kidnapped and she was stranded on an island, and you did everything in your power to make sure she never came home.

Gwen: Only you won’t do that, will you? Because then I will let it be known that you set up your boyfriend, rafe, on trumped-up charges.

Ava: Oh. So we’re going there now, huh?

Gwen: How many hours did the da spend prosecuting that case? How do you think she’s gonna treat the person that she knows wasted her time, turned the pd upside down, and left her looking like a complete fool? How do you think rafe is going to react when he finds out what you did?

Ava: Honey, it would be a mistake to threaten me.

Gwen: I’m just pointing out, ava, that you and I have secrets, don’t we? I did what I did to keep sarah away from xander, and I know everything you did to punish rafe for hurting you.

Ava: And you can’t prove a thing.

Gwen: Are you sure about that? I didn’t think so. So I would suggest that you keep your mouth shut, and I will do the same.

[Tense music]

Xander: So you’re saying that this drug made her so delusional that sarah thinks she’s– she’s a completely different person? Well, maybe they’re not trying hard enough, jack. But I bloody will. I’m not gonna give up until I bring her back to reality. Mate, I’ve gotta go. I’ll, uh–I’ll talk to you later. Thanks for all the help. Sarah!

Sarah as renee: Renee. Renee! And I asked you to leave me alone.

Xander: You are aware that this renee dumonde person you claim to be is dead and was murdered by a serial killer?

Sarah as renee: What’s your angle here, alex? And how did you get involved in this scheme?

Xander: Scheme? There is no scheme. I’m–and I’m not alex. I’m xander. You need to listen to me. This woman that you think you are, she’s been dead for years.

Sarah as renee: Okay, yeah. Well, loads of people in this town have been dead before, and then miracle of miracles, they were brought back to life by my very own father. So add me to that list.

Xander: Do you understand how insane this all sounds?

Sarah as renee: All I care about is getting a divorce from you and getting my tony away from that wretched woman who tricked him into marrying her. And why are you looking at me like that?

Xander: I just wish I could get through to you. I wish you could remember how much we love each other.

Sarah as renee: Oh, please. You have a heart of stone. You’re incapable of love. All you wanted was my inheritance. That’s why you tricked me into marrying you.

Xander: Hey, I-I never tricked you into anything.

Gwen: [Sighs] If I were a praying woman… is this my punishment for all the revenge I tried to get, for all the misery and suffering that I’ve gone through? Even if ava doesn’t rat me out and sarah does come home… god, could it get any worse?

Ned: Oh, things can always get worse. Remember me?

Tony: I hope you find out who was behind this nightmare.

Chad: Oh, I will. And they’ll pay for what they put abby through.

Tony: I should hope so.

Chad: Mm, speaking of wives, I ran into yours upstairs, and she seems pretty upset about this whole sarah-renee situation.

Tony: “Upset” is not the word I would use.

Chad: Well, look, it’s gonna be rough for a little while. I mean, it took abby months to recover. And with the proper treatment plan…

Tony: Well, sarah refused help. Then she took off from the hospital after she noticed that steve and kayla weren’t looking.

Chad: Well, that’s not good.

Tony: No, it’s not. Did I tell you that she’s moving in?

Chad: Moving in here?

Tony: She insisted.

Chad: You said yes?

Tony: Well, yeah, because kayla thought it would be best if she was here. That way, she’d be safe, and possibly we can convince her to get treated.

Chad: No wonder anna’s head exploded.

Tony: Ugh, sarah barged in here, screaming invectives and–and threatening anna with– with eviction.

[Groans]

Chad: I’m sorry I missed it. Where’s sarah now?

Tony: She’s, uh, out there hiring a divorce lawyer for me.

Chad: [Laughing] Oh, god.

Tony: Why, do you think that’s funny?

Chad: No.

[Clears throat] No, it’s just– it’s all just such a mess.

Tony: [Sighs] You know, renee, she was such a passionate woman. But it seems that sarah is now channeling the same dimera determination.

Chad: Lucky you.

Tony: Yes, unfortunately, though, I seem to be indulging in her delusions as a way to avoid an all-out war.

Chad: And how does anne feel about that strategy?

Tony: [Grunts]

Chad: I’m sorry.

Tony: Me too.

Chad: Look, w– we have no idea what other drugs kristen was feeding sarah on that island. But she’s here now, and maybe being in a– in a familiar place will jog her memory.

Tony: Well, I just hope that she gets back to her old self soon.

Xander: Well? Does it look familiar to you?

Sarah as renee: Not at all.

Xander: But this is you. This is you and me. It’s a picture of us together. I–it’s one of my favorites.

Sarah as renee: Yeah, well, I’ve never seen it before. That woman in the picture with the short hair, that’s sarah horton. I’m renee dumonde. Or dimera, if you prefer.

Shin: I would like to call this meeting of the dimera shareholders to order. Who would like to speak first?

Jake: I will.

Shin: Chair recognizes jake dimera.

Jake: Thank you, mr. Shin. We have two motions that we would like to present to the shareholders. The first, we would like to elect victor kiriakis to the board of directors.

Kate: What?

Gabi: You have a problem with that?

Kate: I have nothing but respect for victor, but he’s competition. Why would we invite him into the fold?

Gabi: You know what they say: “Keep your friends close. Keep your enemies closer.”

Kate: What I say is, that is a tired, old cliché that means absolutely nothing.

Demon johnny: The goal is to extend the olive branch, lull vic into a sense of security, and then move in for the kill. Steal titan right out from under him.

Kate: Oh, yeah, because it would be that easy, wouldn’t it?

[Laughs] Since when have the three of you been working together?

Demon johnny: Well, we have common interests.

Shin: Jake, you said you had two motions?

Jake: Yes, thank you. The second motion is, we would like to remove chad as ceo of dimera enterprises.

Kate: And replace him with whom?

Jake: Me.

Kate: No. I won’t allow that. That won’t be happening.

Gabi: Excuse me, kate. Before you waste your breath railing against jake’s motion, I have two small amendments I’d like to offer.

Gwen: Ned grainger.

Ned: Thanks for remembering.

Gwen: Where the bloody hell did you come from? Have you been stalking me?

Ned: As a matter of fact, I have.

Gwen: Why?

Ned: Why? I did you a solid, lady. Then chad and tony dimera tracked me all the way down to key west.

Gwen: And then you told them where to find abigail.

Ned: Yeah. But I kept your name out of it.

Gwen: Thank you. I appreciate that.

Ned: You don’t think I did that for free, do you? Now’s the time for you to pay the price.

Xander: So you truly don’t recognize yourself in this picture?

Sarah as renee: No. Because that’s not me.

Xander: But when you– when you look in the mirror, this isn’t the face you see?

Sarah as renee: No, I see my face.

Xander: You mean renee’s?

Sarah as renee: My face. Damn it, alex. Here you go, tormenting me again.

Xander: According to jack, renee dumonde would be about, mm, 65 years old is she were still alive.

Sarah as renee: Okay, well, what do you want me to say? I’ve aged very well. It’s in the genes. We dimeras live practically forever.

Xander: I don’t believe this.

Sarah as renee: Yeah, neither do I. You’re all trying to make me think that I’m out of my mind, but you’re the ones that need serious help.

Xander: What did kayla say about your condition at the hospital?

Sarah as renee: Oh, my god. As if I care what kayla says or you, for that matter. You’re all trying to make me think that I’ve lost it, which I unforgivably cruel. So get out of my sight, alex. I’m gonna go home to the man I love, tony.

Xander: Please. Please wait.

[Eerie music]

Chad: If you want, I could– I could ask abby to talk to sarah. She might be able to get through to her.

Tony: Yes. She’s been through a similar experience.

Chad: Unfortunately she has. But anything we can do to help.

Tony: Thank you. I appreciate it.

Chad: It’s the least we can do. Have you told the rest of the family yet?

Tony: Well, I tried to warn johnny, but he was in a hurry. He seemed to be having a meeting with his movie producer.

Chad: Right. Well, I should, uh– I should get into the office. Hopefully I didn’t miss too much while we were gone.

Jake: Gabi, what’s going on? I don’t remember discussing any amendments.

Kate: So this is very interesting.

Jake: What’s this about?

Gabi: Well, if you remember, you were the one that amended our last plan when you went to mr. Shin about ousting ej from the company without even talking to me first.

Jake: You said you trusted me.

Gabi: I did. Do you trust me?

Jake: Of course I do.

Kate: That’s a mistake.

Jake: Okay, why? Why do this now?

Gabi: Just thought it would be more efficient this way. Mr. Shin, may I?

Shin: Go ahead, gabi.

Gabi: Instead of adding victor kiriakis to the board, I suggest we elect johnny dimera.

Jake: What?

Gabi: And instead of having jake as ceo, I propose you elect me instead.

Demon johnny: I second that motion.

Jake: What the hell is this?

Jake: We’re not ready yet.

Kate: You know, as much as I would like jake to get what he deserves, I am not gonna let you, gabi, take chad’s rightful place at dimera.

Gabi: You can’t do that, kate. Neither of you can.

Demon johnny: She’s right. You can’T.

Jake: What the hell?

Kate: How could you do this to tony and chad? They’ve been so good to you.

Demon johnny: Well, guess I’m just a chip off the old block after all.

Kate: Mm, well, I won’t be voting for this travesty. And obviously I don’t think jake will be either.

Gabi: Oh, but I will. And johnny will vote his shares.

Demon johnny: And my– my father’S.

Kate: Yeah. Well, mr. Shin is on jake’s side, right? He’s always been your favorite.

Jake: Wow. Never thought it’d be you who’d come to my defense.

Kate: Well, I’m doing what’s right for the company. And right now, with mr. Shin’s vote, my vote, and yours, it will be a tie. Unless someone walks in that door and breaks the tie, it’ll be a stalemate, which means the status quo stands.

[Tense music]

Gwen: How do you propose to make me pay?

Ned: I’m gonna make it easy for you. I want $1 million for my troubles.

Gwen: $1 million?

Ned: Or else I sing to the authorities and your boyfriend.

Gwen: Please. Please, please don’t say anything.

Ned: I won’t, long as I get my money.

Gwen: Okay. I will get you money, but you need to do something for me first.

Ned: You’re in no position to be making demands.

Gwen: Do you want the cash? Because I don’t have any. Ava vitali, on the other hand, she’s got access to the vitali fortune.

Ned: I’m listening.

Gwen: Problem is, is that she’s cooling her heels at the salem pd at the moment.

Ned: Okay.

Gwen: So if you can get her out of this mess, I promise I will get you your payday.

Xander: We were gonna get married. You were my everything, sarah, and…I thought that–

Xander: I’m not alex marshall! I don’t even know who that is!

Sarah as renee: Okay, well, then let me fill you in. Alex marshall is scum, and I exposed him as such at a huge celebratory bash at the dimera mansion a while back. And it was ever so satisfying. And you know what would satisfy me now? Is never laying eyes on you again, you two-faced bastard.

[Somber music]

Gwen: Xander? Are you all right?

Xander: I, uh– I just saw sarah.

Kate: So, li, you’re voting for jake, right? You know it’s the right thing for the company.

[Unsettling music]

Li? Mr. Shin?

Demon johnny: What’s your answer, mr. Shin?

Shin: I vote… I vote aye, which means the motion is passed.

Kate: What? Are you serious?

Gabi: Excellent decision.

Demon johnny: Yes, wise move, mr. Shin.

Jake: I don’t get it. Why the hell would you choose them?

Shin: Ej’s in prison. Chad and tony have abandoned their posts. It’s time for a change.

Demon johnny: Indeed, it is.

Gabi: Don’t get all self-righteous. You betrayed me first.

Jake: Then johnny must have forged it, just like he must have stolen maggie’s phone and sent me a text from it for me to meet her at her house.

Gabi: [Sighs] So how do you explain that I heard you tell maggie all you cared about was the ceo job?

Jake: What?

Gabi: Yeah. You said you didn’t care if I got the top position at titan, as long as you got what you wanted.

Jake: Okay, I-I-I– no, no, no, I never met with maggie.

Gabi: I was there. I heard every single word.

Jake: I don’t know what you heard, but it never happened!

Gabi: You’re a liar. You’re a liar and a loser. And my first move as ceo is gonna be to call security and have your ass thrown out of here.

Jake: What in god’s name? None of this makes any sense!

Demon johnny: Makes sense to me. Uh, gabi, why don’t you go ahead? Go ahead and get settled into your new office, and I would be happy to take care of jake here. Migraine attacks?

Sarah as renee: Sweetheart, I’m home. Cheers, daddy.

Tony: Um, can I get you something?

Sarah as renee: Well, I’d love a hug. Oh! And a divorce from that airhead wife.

Tony: I was thinking maybe you’d like a glass of water.

Sarah as renee: Oh. No, thank you. By the way, I did try to find don craig. And as much as I hate to admit it, anna was right. No one has seen or heard from in in 35 years. But I did schedule you an appointment with a very good lawyer, one who will also be handling my divorce from alex marshall, who I did have the misfortune of running into this afternoon.

Tony: You ran into alex?

Sarah as renee: I also spoke to that lawyer about drawing up eviction papers for anna.

Tony: No. Look, you can’t evict her.

Sarah as renee: Of course I can. And it’s imperative that I do. I will not have that woman spending another night in bed with the man I love.

Gwen: So sarah never really dumped you?

Xander: No. It wasn’t her on the day of the wedding. Nor was it she who came back and dumped me a second time.

Gwen: I see. So she’s– she’s been held captive on a deserted island this whole time, then?

Xander: It’s unbelievable, right?

Gwen: Mm. And now that she’s back, does this mean that she wants to pick up where the two of you left off?

Xander: Actually, no.

Gwen: Really? Why not?

Xander: Look, why don’t we, um, head up to the room and I’ll try to explain? It’s, uh, kind of a long story.

Ned: Hello, ms. Vitali.

Ava: I didn’t call a lawyer.

Ned: Are you sure? Because you look like you could use one.

Ava: Wait. Ned?

Ned: Ned who? I’m saul goodman, attorney at law.

Ava: [Chuckles] Okay, what the hell is going on here?

Ned: Your friend ms. Rizczech sent me to negotiate a deal with the da.

Ava: She hired you to be my lawyer?

Ned: We have an appointment with ms. Trask shortly, after which you’re gonna walk out of this police station a free woman, free to go wherever you want, by plane, perhaps?

Ava: Oh, so you’re gonna bust me out of here.

Ned: Maybe. But first I must warn you, my fees are quite steep. Your friend gwen says that you’re good for it. So can I count on you for payment?

Ava: You’re hired.

Chad: What the hell are you doing in my office?

Gabi: You can’t read? This is my office now.

Chad: I’m sorry, what?

Gabi: Gabi dimera, ceo. You’re out, and I’m in.

Demon johnny: [Chuckles] Whoo, not the way you saw today going, was it, pal?

Jake: Okay, I don’t know how you pulled it off, but I know you were behind this.

Demon johnny: ‘Cause I stole a phone, forged a text, blah, blah, blah.

Jake: Yeah, that was just the start of it.

Demon johnny: Oh, really? What else did I do, morph into you, meet with maggie so gabi could overhear?

Jake: I don’t know how you did it, but I know it was you who turned gabi against me.

Demon johnny: Look, blame me all you want, but you’re the one who just threw everything away: Your job, your future, your smokin’-hot girlfriend.

Jake: Okay, don’t you even think about getting close to gabi.

Demon johnny: Or you’ll do what? You’re powerless. You’re impotent, both figuratively and literally. Now, get out before I throw you out.

Jake: No.

Demon johnny: No? Guess I’m gonna have to call security.

Clyde: Well, slim pickings in our library, milo. It was either this or the dictionary.

Orpheus: I’ve read it. It got way too many big words in it for you.

Clyde: Oh, you’re such a funny guy. Tell you the truth, I dig this miranda priestly chick. She suffers no fools, that’s for damn sure.

Orpheus: Well, I’ll just have to take a peek at it when you’re done. Unless your new cellmate has got first dibs.

Ej: Belle. You’re a sight for sore eyes.

Belle: Well, good morning. How are you holding up?

Ej: Eh, as well as can be expected considering the dreary surroundings. And I’m hoping against hope that you might have a update on the case that could uplift my spirits. Please tell me you’ve made progress on my appeal.

Belle: As a matter of fact, I have.

Ben: “Insert the seat support tube into the small holes of the backrest tube. Ensure the pushpins are completely pushed in.” What the–what’s a pushpin?

Ciara: You can reassemble a vintage harley, but a baby swing has you stumped?

Ben: [Sighs] Ciara, a vintage harley doesn’t come with ridiculously confusing instructions.

Ciara: Oh.

Ben: But I see you’re feeling better, yeah?

Ciara: Yeah. Yeah, the shower definitely helped. I cannot believe you let me sleep in so late.

Ben: Well, you needed to. You were tossing and turning all night. Did you have a bad dream?

Ciara: Not exactly. I just– I couldn’t stop thinking about what we were talking about last night.

Ben: You mean that johnny dimera might be possessed?

Jake: Johnny. The hell’s going on?

Demon johnny: Well, haven’t you noticed? I’m not johnny dimera.

Jake: I– [Grunts] I don’t understand.

Demon johnny: Let me ask you something, jake. Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?

[Soft orchestration]

Chad: Okay, gabi. Enough fooling around. Get your feet off my desk.

Gabi: This is my desk in my office. I’ll put my damn feet wherever I want.

Chad: Oh, wow, you are really committed. Okay. All right, you’ve had your fun. Now, uh–now, get out. And, uh, don’t try this again. Stop sweet-talking your way past my security, yeah?

Gabi: Actually, you’re gonna be the one that’s gonna need security clearance.

Chad: The hell are you talking about?

Gabi: You’re looking at the new ceo of dimera.

Chad: [Laughs] Okay.

Gabi: Oh, you don’t believe me, chad? Go ahead, call shin. He will back up every single word I said.

Chad: You’re serious.

Gabi: About the fact that I now am in charge of this company? I am very serious.

Chad: You? The new ceo?

Gabi: I mean, how many different ways can I say it, chad?

Chad: How in the hell did you pull that off?

Jake: Who– [Grunts] What are you?

Demon johnny: You mind? Look, you might be able to put your grubby paws on johnny dimera, but you do not manhandle the almighty. Avoiding triggers, but can’t keep migraine attacks away?

Gabi: You took your eye off the ball, chad. See, while you were with tony gallivanting in the dimera jet searching for your missing wife, I was here.

Chad: Scheming.

Gabi: Ah, seizing the professional moment.

Chad: We found her, by the way. Abigail’s fine. Thanks for asking.

Gabi: Oh, good. Well then it wasn’t a complete loss for you today. See, let’s get back to me. Um, I–I used your glaring absence and ej’s unfortunate incarceration to hold an emergency shareholder meeting, which resulted in me getting the top position and johnny being elected to the board.

Chad: J–johnny? My little nephew is on the board of this company?

Gabi: That’s right. But I wouldn’t call him “little” seeing as he has significant control over dimera.

Chad: Shin cannot be okay with this.

Gabi: Well, he was. In fact, he made the deciding vote.

Chad: What?

Gabi: Yeah, I believe he said that he couldn’t have his company’s leadership abandoning ship, and it’s also time for a change.

Chad: I don’t believe this is happening.

Gabi: It’s a lot to absorb, I know.

Chad: And what about– what about jake? What’s his new position? Is he emperor of the top floor?

Gabi: Jake?

Chad: Jake, my brother, your boyfriend. I assume he’s getting something out of all of this.

Gabi: Oh. Oh, yes, he did. Yes, he– he got his ass handed to him.

Demon johnny: Did you think the devil was gone? A proverbial christmas miracle? Come on. Only losers believe in miracles.

Jake: So you’ve been here, in johnny, for months?

Demon johnny: You’re catching on. I was beginning to think you were a little slow on the uptake. Of course, neither you nor your smoking hot girlfriend are nearly as smart as you think you are. It was so easy convincing her to betray you.

Jake: So you’re the reason–

Demon johnny: She thought you were gonna screw her over? Yeah, guilty as charged, uncle jakey.

Jake: I knew it.

Demon johnny: You know, she already had doubts about you. All I had to do was stroke them. A few parlor tricks, flash of my big sword, I had her in my clutches, and now, I’m gonna get her into my bed.

Ciara: I mean, part of me still thinks it’s crazy. You know, the devil jumping out of marlena and into johnny.

Ben: Ciara, I know, and I don’t even care how crazy it is anymore. We still need to check it out, make sure that johnny’s not a danger to our baby.

Ciara: Yeah. Did–did susan banks call you back yet?

Ben: No. I’ve only been checking my phone every five minutes. I’m thinking it might be time to try her again.

[Knocking on door] Did you order another pizza? You got to stop doing this or– oh, my god–susan. Hey.

Ciara: Hi. Susan. We were literally just talking about you. How did you know that we wanted to see you?

Susan: [Spluttering] ‘Cause your hubby sent me a message, silly.

Ben: I didn’t even tell you what it was about.

Susan: Well, you didn’t have to. See, as soon as I heard your voice in my ear–boom! I had a premonition, and I knew you were talking about someone near and dear to my heart. So I hopped on the first bus here to salem.

Ben: Wait, you knew what I was calling you about?

Susan: Oh, yes, of course. Yeah. My son. My son, elvis.

Ej: So you tracked down the henchman who held sami captive?

Belle: And testified falsely that you paid him to do it, jason smith.

Ej: How did you find him?

Belle: Well, it wasn’t easy. I mean, he basically went off the grid after I implicated you.

Ej: Falsely.

Belle: And I wanted him to admit it.

Ej: Why would he ever do that?

Belle: Well, he wouldn’T. Which is why I tried to trip him up and trick him into telling me who really did it.

Ej: And?

Belle: And no luck. The guy is sticking to his story.

Ej: Then we’re back to square one.

Belle: Well, maybe not. There are other avenues we could explore.

Clyde: You know, it’s funny how life works, isn’t it? Warden decides to give you a new cellmate, turns out to be my old pal, ej dimera.

Orpheus: Pal? Don’t you mean business associate? The two of you ran a drug operation, did you not?

Clyde: Now, where would you come up with an idea like that?

Orpheus: [Laughs] Surely you’ve read the sign in the library, “knowledge is power.” I make it a point to stay in the know.

Clyde: Well, you don’t know squat about me, milo.

Orpheus: Oh, but I do. In fact, I know a great deal. Including that your relationship with ej went south. Isn’t that why you killed him? Okay, this is a freezer, not a time capsule.

Belle: So I’ve been working with the wisconsin state police to try to find the other guy who was guarding sami, that guy, pete, to see if he would contradict jason’s story.

Ej: And?

Belle: And since he was never arrested, finding him has been a challenge.

Ej: [Sighs] In other words, that avenue is closed.

Belle: Yeah, but there are others.

Ej: Such as?

Belle: Such as insufficient evidence.

Ej: Didn’t you try that already?

Belle: Well, I– I tried to get a dismissal based on those grounds. And I probably would have, but you wanted to take the stand.

Ej: You know how much I regret that. If I had to do it over again, I–I–

Belle: Well, you don’t have it to do over again. The fact that remains that the judge made his ruling based on some really biased witnesses. I mean, you have– you have jason, you have lucas, chad, sami. I mean, there is so much room for reasonable doubt.

Ej: Then why not forget searching for the other henchman and just focus on overturning the judge’s ruling?

Belle: Well, because the odds of success there are slim. The jury would have been a lot easier, but someone didn’t want a jury trial.

Ej: [Groans] When I made that ill-fated decision, you told me to shut up, sit down, and let you do your job. And I didn’T. I disregarded your advice at every turn. And yet still here you are.

Belle: I told you I wouldn’t abandon you. I meant that. I know you’re innocent, and soon everyone else will too.

Ej: Thank you, belle. I hope you know how appreciative I am for all of your help.

Belle: Well, let’s get back to the original question. How are you doing in here? Ooh, and how are things with your cellmate?

Ej: You mean with clyde weston?

Clyde: I hate to burst your bubble, milo, but your information is bogus. Ej dimera is alive and kicking.

Orpheus: [Chuckles] Thanks to the wondrous wizardry of dr. Wilhelm rolf. But that night in the park when ej was shot, everyone thought he was dead.

Clyde: But I ain’t the one who plugged him. Some two-bit junkie did that.

Orpheus: That’s what the cops believe. Doesn’t make it true.

Clyde: [Laughs] As god is my witness, I did not shoot ej dimera.

Orpheus: Okay, clyde, maybe you didn’t pull the trigger. Maybe that honor went to your buddy, miguel, is it? But you are certainly responsible for that bullet ending up in ej’s chest.

Ben: You thought we called you about ej?

Susan: Yeah. Of course. He was in my premonition. And I have been thinking about him nonstop since that mean, mean, mean judge sent him to prison for a crime that he did not commit.

Ciara: No. Susan. Susan, I–

Susan: And everyone– everybody knows that my elvis loves his samantha, and they have their issues like all couples do, but I mean, he would never dream of kidnapping her.

Ben: Look, susan, we weren’t calling you about ej.

Susan: Oh. Okay. Well, then, what the heck were you calling me about?

Ciara: Um, his son.

Susan: Johnny? Wha–I mean, what possibly could be wrong with him?

Ben: You know, susan, you might want to brace yourself.

Jake: I–I got to warn gabi.

Demon johnny: Leaving so soon?

Jake: Guess not. Guess I’m dancing with the devil after all.

Chad: Dimera’s in chaos because you and jake got into a fight?

Gabi: It doesn’t matter why it happened. All that matters is that I landed on top.

Chad: No. I’m–I’m– I don’t think so.

Gabi: Excuse me?

Chad: You and jake can go at each other all you want, but this is my family’s company, my children’s legacy, and there’s no way in hell I am gonna let some lover’s quarrel destroy it.

Gabi: Oh. I see. So what exactly are you gonna do?

Chad: I’ll call a meeting.

Gabi: You– [Laughs] You need a majority to remove me.

Chad: Not a problem.

Gabi: Oh, it is though, because you don’t have the votes. Shin wants you out. And now that johnny has a seat on the board, he has ej’s shares as well as his own.

Chad: I–I don’t understand why he would turn on me like that. He wanted to work with me to remove vultures like you from dimera.

Gabi: Looks like you got played by your “little” nephew.

Chad: That little punk isn’t gonna get away with it.

[Loud crash]

[Suspenseful music]

Orpheus: But ej was. Tell me, how does he feel about cohabitating with the guy who blew him away? I mean, that must make for some awkward conversations.

Clyde: Hey. Even if I had been there, ej wouldn’t know nothing about it. He doesn’t remember a damn thing about that evening.

Orpheus: That’s a hell of a thing to forget.

Clyde: Well, one of the pesky side effects of rolf’s miracle drug. Yeah, it’ll get you back to the land of the living, but does a real number on the old memory bank.

Orpheus: Yep, yep. But as I understand it, in time, the memories come back. So clyde, what you gonna do when ej remembers that you double-crossed him and left him to die?

Belle: Clyde weston is your cellmate?

Ej: Mm-hmm.

Belle: I mean, whoa, that is surprising. How’s it going?

Ej: So far, so good.

Belle: I thought–I– I just wouldn’t have thought that you two would hit it off.

Ej: Actually, we’re already acquainted.

Belle: How? Ej, you’re a lawyer. You know anything you say to me is confidential.

Ej: Clyde and I used to be in business together.

Belle: Mm. And I assume this business wasn’t exactly legit.

Ej: That would be a smart assumption.

Belle: I don’t know, maybe– maybe we should put in a request for a different cellmate. You know, I–I just don’t want this association you have with clyde weston to jeopardize your appeal.

Ej: Ancient history. I actually think he could be quite helpful.

Belle: How so?

Ej: He’s been in here a long time. Knows the place quite well. He told me he’d show me the ropes.

Belle: And you think you can rely on–on clyde weston?

Ej: Don’t get me wrong, I don’t trust the man in the slightest. But if I’m going to survive in here, I need someone to have my back. Is clyde weston my first choice? God, no. But right now, he’s the only choice I’ve got.

Susan: So you think the devil is hanging his hat in my sweet, little grandson, johnny, huh?

Ciara: Look, we know it sounds crazy–

Susan: Ah! I don’t like that word. It’s very judgy and it–it’s unkind.

Ciara: You’re right. I’m sorry.

Susan: [Sighs] So johnny possessed. Now, wh–what makes you think a thing like that?

Ben: Well, thers just been some strange occurrences recently.

Susan: Okay, well, like what?

Ciara: Well, like my grandma gave us a housewarming gift to hang outside of the apartment, a nice little cross.

Susan: Oh. Well, what’s so strange about that?

Ciara: Well, on her way to deliver it to us, her stove randomly burst into flames even though the thing wasn’t even on.

Ben: And while this mysterious fire just erupted, johnny happened to have been there, so he volunteered to bring the cross to us. And he did. He dropped it off, we hung it up, and this thing keeps flipping upside down.

Ciara: Mm-hmm. Every single time. And my grandma thought that it is a sign that the devil is back in town. And we know that the devil can jump from one body to another.

Ben: Right, and we also know that the only way for that to happen is that person that he did jump into would have to have been present at the exorcism, which your grandson, johnny, was.

Susan: You think that beelzebub boomeranged out of dr. Marlena evans and into my sweet, little grandson, johnny? And then he used the cross to leave his mark?

Ciara: Yeah, well, that’s why we wanted to talk to you, because you had the premonition that the devil was after my baby in the first place. You had the premonition that marlena was possessed by the devil.

Ben: And we were just wondering if maybe you had sensed anything about johnny.

Susan: Well, I was at the dimera mansion after the exorcism. And believe you me, if I even had the teensiest, weensiest feeling that old scratch had invaded my sweet, little grandson, johnny, I would have never left town.

Ciara: [Sighs] Yeah.

Ben: We knew it was gonna be a long shot.

Ciara: Yeah. Yeah, look, I’m sorry, susan. I’m sorry, we let our imaginations run wild. Clearly we were wrong about the devil being back in salem.

Susan: Uh, not necessarily.

Gabi: What the hell was that?

Chad: You’re the new ceo. You figure it out.

[Ominous music]

Gabi: What happened? J–johnny, I thought you said you were calling security.

Johnny: I didn’t have to. Jake left voluntarily. I mean, at least I thought he did. I thought he was gonna be a grown-up about all this, then he stormed back in here and attacked me.

Gabi: Jake. Jake, are you okay?

Johnny: The guy was acting like a complete psycho. I–I had no choice. I had to defend myself.

Gabi: Jake, jake, jake. Can you hear me? Jake.

Jake: [Groans] Gabi.

Gabi: [Sighs] Jake. What the hell were you thinking?

Jake: [Grunting] Johnny.

[Groans] He’s– he’s–

[Winces] We hit the bike trails every weekend

Susan: So after the exorcism, I had a premonition that the devil was still here in salem. And I thought that he just ducked right back into dr. Marlena evans. So I went over to her place, and I sprayed her full of holy water. I did it all over. And I tried to banish that demon, once and for all.

Ciara: But the demon wasn’t inside her.

Susan: No, no, no. She–she assured me that she was 100% her. So I just thought that my– my devil-detector was on fritz.

Ben: Huh. And you didn’t get any bad vibes about johnny?

Susan: No. No, not one. And I–and I mean, I saw him before I left town. But–

Ben: But what?

Susan: The night of johnny’s engagement party…

Ben: Yeah.

Susan: I got sick. I got sick, and I went to the hospital. I just knew that something was not right. I mean, I–I couldn’t shake this feeling, this feeling that–that– that there was this evil force behind it all.

Ciara: The devil.

Susan: Yes. And I just didn’t– I didn’t think that he was done with us yet. Huh. But johnny possessed, huh? I just can’t believe I just stood right in front of him, my kin, my flesh and blood, and I just didn’t have a clue.

Jake: He’s– [Groans]

Gabi: He’s–he’s what?

Jake: Johnny’s–

[Groans] Damn it. He’s a creep… who tricked you into stabbing me in the back.

[Eerie music]

Gabi: What happened? J–johnny, I thought you said you were calling security.

Johnny: Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.

Belle: Oh. Our time’s almost up. Is there anything else you need?

Ej: Just find a way to get me out of this hellhole.

Belle: Well, I’m on it. My next angle is chad.

Ej: [Laughs] Don’t waste your time.

Belle: Why? Why do you say that?

Ej: The last time I saw my brother, he called me a criminal, a sociopath, and told me he hopes I’ll stay locked up forever.

Belle: Well, he was out of his mind with worry. And good news, abigail is home. She’s safe and sound.

Ej: Wonderful. I’m sure chad’s state of mind is much better. But not good enough that he’d help me.

Belle: Well, that’s exactly what he was going to do before he had that coughing fit on the witness stand.

Ej: Mm-hmm. And then he did the opposite.

Belle: Because he thought you tried to force yourself on his wife.

Ej: Which I assure you, I did not.

Belle: Okay. My point is, whatever did or did not happen, chad led me to believe that we’d be pleased with his testimony, which means he knows something. Something that we haven’t heard yet that could exonerate you.

Ej: And you think you can get that out of him?

Belle: Well, I’m sure gonna try. Chad is the one who found the payments that link you to sami’s kidnapper. And if I can get him to admit that he planted those or–or he knows who did, that’s gonna go a long way to proving your innocence.

Ej: While I admire your tenacity, I seriously doubt that my brother, who hates me more now than he did before I was arrested, is going to volunteer any new information.

Belle: I am gonna get you out of here. That’s a promise.

Ej: I can’t tell you how grateful I am to have you in my corner.

Belle: Well, hopefully, this will all be over soon. In the meantime, chin up.

[Dramatic music]

Orpheus: You’re up for parole soon, correct?

Clyde: Yeah. I finally got a new hearing. And with any luck, I’m about to blow this popsicle stand.

Orpheus: Unless those nasty memories come back to ej and leave you in a body bag.

Clyde: No, that ain’t gonna happen.

Orpheus: Well, there’s also the possibility that someone could present the parole bar with evidence that links you to a new crime.

Clyde: That would certainly throw a wrench into the works.

Orpheus: Yeah. Yeah, it would. But you sort of got it coming, don’t you?

Clyde: Hey, man, I get it. You hold a grudge against me for stabbing you, I know. But like I told you before, I did that for my son. Ollie was looking for his wife. I was just helping him.

Orpheus: My son did try to kill ben, so I suppose that makes us even. Besides, if you do get a parole, might be useful to have a– a friend on the outside.

Clyde: [Laughs] Yeah. I always say, one hand washes the other.

Orpheus: Hm. So we’ve established that it’s in both of our best interest that ej never remember what you did to him. Because if he does, we’ll both suffer the consequences.

Ej: What consequences are those?

[Dramatic music]

(Vo) at dog chow

Chad: Come in.

Belle: Thanks for agreeing to see me.

Chad: What can I do for you?

Belle: Well, I just came from statesville, and I want to talk to you about your brother’s appeal.

[Tense music]

Clyde: Ha, what a coincidence. I was just telling my friend here about my new cellmate.

Orpheus: And I was just telling clyde how fortunate he is. My cellmate can’t seem to figure out a way to hide his contraband. Keeps getting us both put on lockdown.

Ej: I see, those consequences.

Clyde: Ej dimera, meet milo harp.

Orpheus: You can call me orpheus. It’s a pleasure.

Ej: Same.

Orpheus: Well, I’m sure glad to see you boys are getting along.

[Tense music]

Susan: [Grunting] I can’t believe the devil has possessed my poor grandson.

Ciara: Well, no, susan, we don’t know that for sure.

Gabi: What happened in here?

Jake: I don’t know. It’s all a little fuzzy.

Gabi: Johnny says you attacked him.

Jake: That’s a lie, just like everything else he’s been telling you.

Gabi: Just stop.

Jake: I–gabi, I– he’s playing you. He got you to believe that I’m doing all this stuff that I didn’t do.

Gabi: Like telling maggie that you’d be fine if I didn’t get the top position at titan. Huh? As long as you got what you wanted, you’d be fine handling me.

Jake: I never said that.

Gabi: I was there. I heard you say you were just using me.

Jake: That’s impossible!

Gabi: And the signature on the petition to steal my late husband’s shares from me. Huh? How do you explain that?

Jake: I don’t know, I can’T. Okay? At least not yet. But I know that little weasel was behind it.

Johnny: Come on, do we really have to listen to this again? I mean, at this point it’s– it’s just pathetic.

Jake: Gabi and I are talking here, pal.

Johnny: And clearly, she’s not interested in anything you have to say.

Jake: You want to let the lady speak for herself.

Johnny: Or what? You gonna go all hulk on me again?

Gabi: Johnny, would you just let me and jake speak alone, please?

Jake: I guess we break up now, that’s it?

Jake: You know, a few weeks ago, we were on top of the world, you and me. Partners in life, in business. We had our whole bright future ahead of us. And now… I don’t know how this could have happened.

[Dramatic music]

Clyde: So how’d it go with your lawyer?

Ej: Unfortunately, she had nothing new to report.

Clyde: Well, one thing I’ve learned in here, good things come to those who wait.

Ej: Patience was never my strong suit.

Clyde: Well, it ain’t so bad, you know. We got a roof over our heads, three squares a day. Hey. Take my advice. Sit back, relax, and enjoy this nice, cushy lifestyle.

Ej: What did you just say?

Clyde: [Laughs] I said, enjoy this nice, cushy lifestyle. You got the fancy accent, a mistress on the side and a nice, cushy lifestyle handed to you on a platter. Hey. You all right?

Ej: Yes. I was just thinking.

Chad: So you came all the way over here to talk about ej?

Belle: Yeah. Why? What’d you think I came over here to talk to you about?

Chad: Well, I assumed since you’re the company’s general counsel, you’d heard the news.

Belle: What news?

Chad: That scheming bitch ousted me from dimera.

[Pensive music]

Jake: See, we don’t have to share power. You know why? As soon as we take over both companies, you’ll run titan, I’ll run dimera.

Gabi: I like the sound of that.

Jake: Right? We’ll work on it first thing in the morning, but in the meantime, why don’t we work on a little merger of our own?

[Dramatic music]

Ciara: [Laughs]

Ben: [Huffs]

Ciara: All right. I am going to head to the hospital to pick up some more prenatal vitamins.

Ben: I’m going with you.

Ciara: Uh-uh. No, no, no. You are staying right here until you finish that swing.

Ben: Babe.

Ciara: Nice try, baby. Love you.

Ben: [Huffs] Love you too.

Ciara: Good luck.

Ben: Thanks.

Ciara: Oh. Hi, jake. Bye, jake.

Jake: Oh.

Ben: Jake.

Jake: Yo.

Ben: My man. What’s going on?

Jake: [Sighs]

Ben: Ooh. You do not look good.

Jake: Yeah, well, after the day I had, it’s not much of a surprise.

Ben: Oh, my god, guy. What happened?

Jake: Gabi double-crossed me. And, uh, yeah, left herself as head of dimera and me out in the cold.

Ben: What the hell happened?

Jake: I’m still trying to figure that out. What I do know is that snake, johnny dimera, got it in her head that I was the one who betrayed her. I just don’t know how he did it.

Ben: Well, I’ll tell you what, man, I can think of one possibility.

Susan: Knock, knock.

Johnny: Ah, grandma. Wh–what are you doing here?

Susan: [Clears throat] I’m here to see if you really are my grandson.

Anna: What is taking them so long? It’s almost dawn, and they’re still not home. Tony? Oh, tony. Thank god you’re home. Oh, golly, I’ve been so worried. Are you all right? Let me look at you.

Tony: Yeah, I’m fine. Kristen got away, but chad and i were able to bring abigail, steve, and kayla safely home.

Anna: Oh, well, that’s wonderful news. I have to admit, I had a queasy feeling when I heard where you were headed.

Tony: Yeah, that island does hold some history.

Anna: Yes. Especially since it’s where you and renee dumonde had your romantic idyll.

Tony: Oh. [Laughs] That was a lifetime ago.

Anna: Yes, yes. Of course it was, and it’s silly of me to even bring it up, especially since we know that woman is long dead.

Tony: Actually… renee was there.

Sarah as renee: Why am i being held in this hospital against my will?

Kayla: We just want to run some tests.

Sarah as renee: And as I told you, there is no need for tests. I switched out the poison with goat’s milk.

Steve: Yeah, so you said.

Sarah as renee: And you both ate it, and you’re fine, so there was nothing wrong with that chicken.

Steve: This isn’t about the chicken, sarah.

Sarah as renee: Stop calling me sarah!

Ava: Oh… those three losers who framed rafe better not have ratted me out.

Chad: Hello, ava.

Ava: Chad dimera. What are you doing here?

Chad: I’m here to find out why you kidnapped my wife and who helped you do it.

[Soft mysterious music]

[Knocking on door]

Gwen: Xander, there’s someone at the door.

Xander: Hmm? Oh, bloody hell. I’ll get rid of whoever it is. You better have a damn good reason for waking us up at this hour. Abigail. What are you doing here?

Abigail: I came straight from the plane to tell you the truth about what gwen did to me.

Anna: I don’t understand. We both know that renee dumonde died years ago.

Tony: That’s right.

Anna: But you just said–

Tony: What I said was that renee was on the island. What I meant was “renee.”

Anna: Okay. Now I’m totally lost.

Tony: Well, you see, she is renee, ’cause that’s what she calls herself.

Anna: But she’s not renee?

Tony: No, but she actually believes that she is.

Anna: All right. Well, then who is she really?

Tony: Sarah horton.

Sarah as renee: Again with this sarah nonsense.

Kayla: It’s not nonsense. It’s who you are, and the only reason that you think it’s not who you are is because of the drug that you were injected with last year.

Sarah as renee: How could a drug make me think that I am someone else?

Steve: We’re not sure yet.

Kayla: That’s why we need to do an mri and a ct scan, so that we can see if there’s any lasting damage to your brain.

Sarah as renee: I can assure you that my brain is not damaged. Now, I’d like to get home to tony and my long-lost brother chad.

Ava: I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. I don’t even know your wife.

Chad: Well, the police believe otherwise.

Ava: Oh, so that’s why I’m here. They think I kidnapped abigail and did what with her?

Chad: Locked her away on a deserted island, where I just found her.

Ava: And you think I brought her there?

Chad: Maybe not personally, but you were masquerading as sarah horton at the airfield when abigail was knocked out.

Ava: I didn’t lay a hand on her.

Chad: Maybe not, but someone hit her from behind, knocked her unconscious, and you were there. So who was it, ava? Who was helping you?

Ava: Abigail, you don’t have to do that.

Abigail: Oh, I think I do. What am I supposed to do? Just let you walk away–

Chad: You can sit and act innocent, but I’m not leaving here until you identify your accomplice.

Gwen: Xander, don’t listen to her. You know she would do anything to hurt me.

Abigail: Oh, I would do anything to hurt you?

Xander: What’s this all about, abigail?

Abigail: She’s been lying to you, xander, and I have proof. The pilot ratted her out.

Xander: Pilot? What pilot?

Abigail: You didn’t want him to know the truth about what really happened to sarah, because you knew he would dump you so fast.

Xander: Sarah? What does this have to do with sarah?

Gwen: Nothing, nothing. Don’t–don’t believe her.

Abigail: Sarah has been held prisoner on a deserted island for the past year.

Xander: What?

Abigail: And gwen has known about it for months.

Gwen: Xander, I can explain.

Xander: How could you do this? How could you do this to me! What’s going on, gwen? You all right?

Jennifer: It’s 9:00, jack.

Jack: I know. I know. You know why I know? Because you told me it’s 8:45 about ten minutes ago.

Jennifer: Yes, but it landed an hour ago, so what is happening?

Abigail: Mom?

Jennifer: Where–abigail!

Jack: Oh, she’s here!

Jennifer: Oh, my gosh, baby.

Jack: Sweetheart. Oh, you made it home.

Jennifer: So glad you’re okay.

Jack: Yes.

Jennifer: Let me look at you. Are you okay?

Jack: Oh, my gosh. Are you hurt? Is–

Abigail: No.

Jack: Is everything okay?

Abigail: I’m fine. I’m fine. I just thank god chad found me and brought me home.

Jennifer: Where is chad?

Abigail: He went to go confront my kidnapper.

Ava: As I told your wife on the runway, the mask was just a harmless prank.

Chad: Let’s say that’s true. You still stood there and did nothing while someone knocked out my wife and dragged her onto that plane. Now, who was it?

Ava: I’m sorry. I can’t answer your question.

Chad: You can, but you don’t want to. Yet. You know, my brother and I–we talked to ned granger.

Ava: Ned granger?

Chad: He was the one who told us where abigail was, because he was the one that flew her there.

Ava: Okay.

Chad: And he said that kristen was there when they arrived on the island, so she’s not the one that knocked her out.

Ava: Like I said, I’m sorry, but I cannot answer your question.

Chad: Then you’re just gonna have to answer to the police.

Ava: I haven’t committed a crime.

Chad: How about accessory to kidnapping?

Ava: I had nothing to do with it.

Chad: Okay. I know all about your past. These crimes might seem meaningless to you, but this is about my wife. You understand? The mother of my children. And I’m gonna make damn sure that someone pays for what they did to her. But it doesn’t have to be you. You can walk out of here with a slap on the wrist. All you have to do is turn on your partner.

Gwen: Bad dream.

Xander: I’ll say. Do you remember what it was about this time?

Gwen: This time?

Xander: Gwen, it’s been happening to you quite a lot recently–I mean, waking up in a cold sweat, pale as a sheet.

Gwen: Yeah, I suppose it has been happening more, from time to time, hasn’t it?

Xander: And this time, would it maybe help to talk about it?

Gwen: Maybe. It was about dr. Snyder.

Xander: Snyder? I haven’t thought that swine for a minute. No wonder you’re so rattled.

Gwen: Yeah. It was terrifying actually. We had just thrown him down, in the lake, and his body sank, but then his body rose up, and–

Xander: And what?

Gwen: And… well, he started yelling at me, and he was telling me that I am the scum of the earth, and he told me that you didn’t really love me. He said that you were just using me to get over sarah. You were there, too, and confirmed it.

Xander: Oh, gwen. I hope your subconscious didn’t come up with this dream because you doubt my feelings for you.

Gwen: I don’t know why I had the dream. All I know is that it scared me half to bloody death.

Xander: Do you know what i dreamed about last night?

Gwen: No. How could I?

Xander: I dreamed that you and I were married, and we had four kids–two boys, two girls–all with your great, big, gorgeous eyes.

Gwen: Really?

Xander: A lovely house. White picket fence. A golden retriever called dumpling.

Gwen: Dumpling?

Xander: And you were telling me that you’d just been voted wife and mother of the year.

Gwen: Did I? Well, lucky me. Really? Did I say who said it?

Xander: No, no, no. You didn’t say, and I didn’t ask, but you were very pleased with yourself, understandably, and I was incredibly proud of you.

Gwen: You didn’t dream that, did you?

Xander: No, I didn’t, but I daydream about it all the time.

Gwen: Well, that’s very lovely.

Xander: Gwen, do I have to remind you we’re getting married soon? Would that be happening if I didn’t adore you and want to spend the rest of my life with you?

Gwen: No. Of course not. I know that your feelings for me are genuine. I know that you love me, and I cannot wait to be your wife.

Xander: But then why all these bad dreams, hmm? Unless–

Gwen: Unless what?

Xander: Are you nervous about abigail coming home?

Gwen: Why would I be nervous about it?

Xander: I don’t know. You tell me.

Kayla: I know that this is a lot to process, but chad is not your brother, and you are not a dimera. Your name is sarah horton, and I can prove it.

Sarah as renee: Please let me out of here.

Kayla: I can’t do that.

Sarah as renee: Why not?

Kayla: Because there are a lot of family and friends who love you and miss you. Please let us do these tests, okay? I am confident that I can come up with a treatment plan for you. Abigail recovered from a very similar condition, and so can you.

Steve: Kayla’s right, and we want to help you any way we can.

Sarah as renee: Okay.

Kayla: Really?

Sarah as renee: Yeah. Whatever’s going on with me, I want to know the truth about my life, so run the tests.

Kayla: Great. I think you’re making a wise decision, and I’ll set them up.

Steve: And I’ll let you get some rest. You hang in there, okay?

Sarah as renee: Thank you. Thank you both.

Kayla: Okay. I’ll be back.

[Pensive electronic music]

Jack: So ava vitali was under the mask?

Abigail: She was the one who’s been masquerading as sarah.

Jennifer: Why would she do that?

Abigail: She claimed that it was a prank. Of course, I knew it was more than that, and I told her so, but when I did that, next thing I know, someone came up behind me and just conked me over the back of the head.

Jennifer: What?

Jack: Do you know who it was?

Abigail: No, but chad’s with ava now, and he’s determined to find out.

Ava: If I give you a name, you think I just get to walk?

Chad: Well, you know how this goes. The da isn’t interested in the accomplice. They’re gonna want the big fish.

Ava: So all of a sudden, you’re an expert in knowing what the da wants?

Chad: Well, my wife is the victim, and my name happens to have a lot of pull in this town, so I can talk to trask and convince her to offer you a deal.

Ava: You have no way of knowing that she’s gonna say yes.

Chad: And what’s your alternative, ava? Hmm? I mean, I know whoever knocked abby out and dragged her onto that plane is the real culprit. Why would you want to go down for someone else’s crime?

Steve: Yeah, at least everyone’s safe. Okay, I’ll let you know if there’s anything else to report. I’ll talk to you soon. Yeah.

[Cell phone beeps]

Kayla: Was that maggie?

Steve: No, brady. I was waiting to call maggie until we get sarah’s test results.

Kayla: Well, that makes sense.

Steve: Hopefully, we’ll be able to give her some good news.

Kayla: Well, the tech is ready, so I’m gonna go pick her up and bring her down for imaging.

Xander: Hey, I understand. I know you’re still not on the best of terms with your sister.

Gwen: Yeah, you could say that.

Xander: Yeah. You were very upset when she accused you of pretending to be sarah and rejecting me again.

Gwen: Yes. That was quite hurtful.

Xander: But she, and jack, and everyone else now knows that it couldn’t have been you, so–

Gwen: No, of course not, because I was there, in the square, when sarah and abigail were together.

Xander: Exactly. You know, and in the end, it all worked out for the best anyway, didn’t it? I mean, sarah coming back here gave me the closure I needed, and I can’t say I particularly enjoyed being rejected again, but it reminded me that I’m finished with her too.

Gwen: Which is why you proposed to me.

Xander: Because you and i belong together, gwen, and now there’s nothing gonna get in the way of us being mr. And mrs. Xander cook.

Kayla: Okay, sarah. Everything’s set up.

[Quiet dramatic music]

Anna: So sarah is still convinced she’s renee?

Tony: Yes, and not only that, she’s acting like she’s madly in love with me and that she wants to pick up from where we left off all those years ago.

Anna: That’s absurd. You tried to set her straight, I hope?

Tony: Well, of course I did, but nothing I said made a dent. She’s stuck in this emotional delusion.

Anna: Oh, the poor thing. Well, where is she now?

Tony: Steve and kayla took her to the hospital to get some tests. Hopefully, they’ve gotten through to her by now.

Anna: Hopefully is right.

Tony: Well, she’ll just have to accept that you are my one and only love of my life.

Sarah as renee: Get your hands off my tony.

Tackling tough messes can

Ava: You make a compelling pitch, but I think I’m gonna take my chances. If the cops had anything on me, they’d have already arrested me.

Chad: Well, they had enough to drag you down here.

Ava: They’ll have to let me go soon.

Chad: I would not count on that. At the very least, you’re a witness and a person of interest in a kidnapping.

Ava: Oh, I’m always a person of interest. I’m used to that.

Chad: Well, you enjoy your quiet time, then, but if things do take a turn, and you decide you don’t want to go to prison, give me a call.

[Tense music]

Gwen: You know, I never did ask you why you go by cook and not kiriakis.

Xander: Oh, well, I ditched my birth name a little while ago. Complicated family history.

Gwen: I like cook.

Xander: It is a lot easier to spell than rizczech, but you don’t have to take it, if you don’t want to. Or maybe you could do, like, a hyphenate or–

Gwen: Gwen cook sounds absolutely perfect to me.

Xander: Me too. Mrs. Gwendolyn cook.

[Cell phone beeps]

[Cell phone rings] Who’s calling at this ungodly hour?

Gwen: I can’t imagine. Hello?

Ava: I need to see you right now. Get your ass down to the police station.

Abigail: No news from chad yet.

Jennifer: Well, he’ll get some answers. The important thing is, you’re safe. You’re not hurt. Everybody’s fine.

Jack: Although I’m sure it was terrifying.

Abigail: It was. Gosh, but I’m just so damn grateful to be back. And thank you both for staying on just to take care of thomas and charlotte.

Jennifer: Oh, honey, it was our pleasure.

Jack: Yeah.

Jennifer: Please.

Abigail: I mean, the kids being with the two of you, I bet they hardly missed me at all.

Jennifer: Oh.

Jack: Oh, no. Like, every five minutes, it’S… “when’s mommy coming home?”

Jennifer: “Where’s our mom? Where’s mommy?”

Abigail: Well, now that I am home, as much as I have missed having you here, I guess you can go back to boston.

Jack: Okay. Well, we know “the spectator’s” in good hands with you, and both your mother and i would like to tell you how proud we are of what a good writer and good journalist you’ve become.

Abigail: Thanks, dad. And I have you and mom to thank, just for being my role models, and for inspiring me, and yeah. And I guess I have my next big story.

Jack: Oh, do you? What is it?

Abigail: The kidnapping of sarah horton.

Jennifer: The kidnapping?

Abigail: Yes. She was on that miserable island too.

Jack: Sarah was there?

Abigail: Yeah. Kristen had been keeping her captive there since her wedding last year.

Jack: So xander was right. Sarah was in trouble.

Abigail: She sure as hell was. Yeah, and then I just accidentally stumbled upon the fact that it was kristen masquerading as sarah who actually broke it off with xander.

Jack: And not sarah?

Abigail: Not sarah. Mm-mm. Which is, of course, so terribly sad and, you know, not just because it wasn’t sarah who broke xander’s heart, but then poor woman ends up being kristen’s prisoner for months and doesn’t even know where the hell she was.

Jack: Kristen’s a sadistic maniac.

Abigail: And unfortunately, she’s never gonna pay for this crime, just like she hasn’t for so many others, because I’m sure it’ll come as a shock, but she got away.

Jennifer: Of course. She is sadistic and very clever.

Abigail: In the worst possible way.

Jack: But sarah’s alive and well?

Abigail: Alive, yes. Well, not so much.

Steve: We should have known she was playing us. We never should have left her alone.

Kayla: Well, she had us both fooled.

Steve: Well, she couldn’t have gotten too far.

[Cell phone beeps]

Kayla: Sorry. Dr. Johnson. Oh. Okay, thank you.

[Cell phone beeps] That was the head of hospital security.

Steve: They find sarah?

Kayla: No, but they did catch her on the security cameras leaving the hospital.

Steve: Give you three guesses where she went. The first two don’t count.

Sarah as renee: Did you hear me, anna? Step away from my tony.

Anna: I’m sorry, sweetheart, but this is my tony. I understand that you’re confused, but tony and I love each other.

Sarah as renee: He would have never even looked at you twice if he knew I was alive.

Tony: Okay, can we please just take a step back?

Sarah as renee: Your marriage is a sham, anna. You probably tricked him into it.

Anna: What are we gonna do about this person?

Tony: Let’s just try to keep her calm. I’ll call kayla.

Sarah as renee: You are not calling kayla, and I am not going to be calm while this tramp tries to steal my life!

Anna: Tramp? Excuse me.

Tony: That’s uncalled for.

Sarah as renee: Well, it’s the truth, so get your hands off of my man, pack your bags, and get the hell out of my family home! Life’s been hard enough.

Anna: I’m trying very hard to be patient with you because I understand that you’re ill, but I’m not going anywhere. This is my home.

Sarah as renee: Really? Is that your father on the wall? I didn’t think so.

Anna: Well, he’s not yours either. Tony?

Tony: Listen.

Sarah as renee: Hello, daddy. I’ve missed you.

Anna: Do something.

Sarah as renee: You know what you can do, tony, is tell this washed-up floozy to hit the bricks.

Anna: You know, that’s enough. If anyone’s going anywhere, it’s you.

Sarah as renee: Over my dead body.

Anna: Well, that can be arranged.

Gwen: It’s a bit early, don’t you think?

Ava: Well, it’s not my fault the cops hauled me down here before I even had my morning coffee. You alone?

Gwen: No, I’m not. What’s up?

Ava: Well, what’s up is that I am being held for questioning in connection with the abduction of abigail dimera.

Gwen: No kidding.

Ava: Yeah, no kidding, and chad was just in here grilling me about who I saw hitting his wife over the head.

Gwen: Okay.

Ava: Okay, so if you’re not down here in the next ten minutes, your name’s gonna come up in conversation… a lot. As in, “gwen hit abigail over the head.” You understand?

Gwen: Mm-hmm. Yep. Right. I will be there as soon as I can. Okay, bye.

[Cell phone beeps]

Xander: Wait? What’s going on? Who was that?

Gwen: That was the wedding planner that I reached out to.

Xander: It’s a bit early for a call, isn’t it?

Gwen: Yes. I know, but that’s what is the best thing about her. Early bird and all. I think I’m actually gonna pop round and go see her.

Xander: What? Now?

Gwen: Yeah. She had a cancellation this morning, so–

Xander: Well, do you want me to come with you?

Gwen: No. I’ll just go take the meeting, and we’ll see how it goes, okay?

[Drum music crescendos]

Jack: So sarah is–

Abigail: She’s not in her right mind.

Jennifer: That poor girl.

Abigail: It’s so sad. It’s heartbreaking, really, and, you know, obviously, I can relate, so–

Jennifer: Yes, of course you can.

Abigail: Anyway, it’s also a really difficult situation for tony, because god only knows why, because of sarah’s delusion, she believes, for some reason, that she’s tony’s old flame, renee dumonde.

Jack: How strange.

Abigail: So strange. It’s strange, complicated, especially because sarah, aka renee, is madly in love with him.

Anna: Let me at her!

Tony: That’s enough!

Sarah as renee: You can’t–

Tony: Both of you!

Sarah as renee: You keep her away from me, tony.

Tony: Listen to me, renee.

Anna: Renee? Now you’re calling her renee?

Tony: It’s the only way she’ll respond.

Anna: Has the world gone mad?

Steve: What’s going on?

Anna: What’s going on is this deranged woman crashed in here and attacked me. Please take her back to the hospital, where she belongs.

Kayla: Why don’t we get you back to the hospital and take care of those tests?

Sarah as renee: No thanks. Not going.

Anna: Please, kayla, can’t you do something about this?

Kayla: I can’t force her.

Anna: Why not?

Sarah as renee: Because it’s a free country.

Kayla: And she’s not endangering anyone.

Anna: She almost attacked me, before you got here.

Sarah as renee: No. You attacked me, so, kayla, steve, why don’t you take her to the hospital and get her anger issues checked out, while I go freshen up?

Tony: Kayla, is there nothing else you can do?

Kayla: If she won’t submit to the tests, I mean, we could get a court order, but–

Tony: What are we supposed to do until then?

Kayla: Keep her safe.

Tony: Steve!

Steve: For now, until we can figure something out.

Anna: You are not seriously suggesting that we’d let her live here.

Kayla: Well, at least then we would know where she is. I’m sorry. If you need anything else, please don’t hesitate to call us.

Anna: Anything else? You haven’t done anything.

Sarah as renee: These have to go.

Anna: Keep your hands off. You’re not actually going to let her stay here.

Sarah as renee: Well, he’s not letting me do anything. It’s my family home, is it not, tony?

Tony: You can stay, for now.

Anna: Well, I’m not going anywhere either. Tony and I are husband and wife.

Sarah as renee: You were husband and wife. Tony, you need to be liberated from this horrible woman.

Anna: Liberated?

Sarah as renee: I’m gonna hire you the best lawyer in town. I’m gonna see if I can get in touch with don craig and get you out of this nightmare of a marriage.

Anna: Tony and I are very happily married, and don craig went out to mail a letter one day, and we never heard from him again.

Sarah as renee: Well, I’ll find someone, and when I do, if you don’t leave, I will have you forcibly removed.

Tony: I don’t think so.

Sarah as renee: Don’t worry. Renee is gonna take care of everything.

[Dramatic music]

God, it’s good to be home.

Chad: Hey, jack.

Jack: Chad, abigail’s waiting to hear from you. Listen, I owe you so much. We so appreciate everything you and tony did to bring our girl home.

Chad: I’m just happy that she’s okay. No injuries. A little bit traumatized, but abby’s resilient, so she’s gonna be okay.

Jack: Yeah, of course she is, and listen, she told us all about sarah. What happened to that girl. That hell. Actually, I was just about to call xander, let him know what happened and tell him that sarah didn’t leave him voluntarily.

Chad: Well, I’m sure he’ll be very happy to hear that.

Jack: He will. He will. Although–

Chad: Although what?

Jack: Xander’s getting married.

Chad: To gwen?

Ava: Is this supposed to be some sort of disguise?

Gwen: I’m trying not to call too much attention to myself.

Ava: By dressing like a snowman?

Gwen: Oh, god. I can’t believe that you made me come down here.

Ava: Oh, well, you just want me to sit at the station and rot?

Gwen: You know that I am not supposed to be seen with you.

Ava: Oh, believe me, gwen. That is the least of your problems.

[Cell phone rings]

Xander: The little birds are chirping this morning. Oh, it’s jack.

[Cell phone beeps] Morning, mate.

Jack: Xander, hey. Listen, I’m sorry to call so early, but abigail just got back.

Xander: Oh, that is just wonderful news, jack. I knew she was on her way home, but now that she’s back safe, thank god. You and jennifer must be thrilled.

Jack: We are, but you need to know that sarah was there too.

Xander: Sarah was where?

Jack: On the island with abigail.

Xander: I don’t understand.

Jack: Listen, do you remember the day of your wedding, a year ago? You got a call from susan banks at the pub. She said that she saw sarah going upstairs with rex.

Xander: Yeah, how could I not remember that?

Jack: That was actually kristen.

Xander: Yeah, jack. I know it was.

Jack: What you don’t know is that kristen didn’t only impersonate susan banks. She also impersonated sarah.

Xander: What?

Jack: The woman that you saw in bed with rex, the woman who broke up with you, was kristen in a sarah mask.

Xander: Oh, my god. No! But I–oh, my god.

Jack: I’m sorry to tell you like this.

Xander: No, but wait, wait, wait. What about when sarah came back to salem to visit maggie? That was kristen too?

Jack: No, no. Believe it or not, that was ava vitali.

Xander: Well, no, I don’t believe it, jack. It’s too insane. It can’t be true.

Jack: I’m afraid it is. Abigail confirmed it.

Xander: Where is sarah now? Where is she, jack?

Jack: They’re taking her to the hospital.

Xander: I have to go find her. I have to see her. I have to–[Cell phone beeps].

Jack: Wait. Before you do that, there’s one more thing you need to know. You–xander? Hello?

Jennifer: Oh, you are our hero. We can’t thank you enough.

Chad: No. Are you kidding me? Seeing the kids’ faces when abby tucks ’em in at night is all the thanks I need.

Jennifer: They missed their mama so much.

Abigail: Not as much as they would have missed me if it weren’t for grandma and grandpa being here.

Jennifer: Well, they were a comfort to us. Trust me. I’m gonna go check on g-pa right now.

Chad: How you doing, baby? Tired? You want some rest? What can I do for you?

Abigail: Not a thing. I’m too wound up to be tired. How’d it go with ava?

Chad: She stonewalled me. No surprise there, but I could tell that she was panicked. I mean, we know she didn’t assault you, but given her track record, trask shouldn’t have a hard time getting those aiding and abetting charges to stick.

Abigail: Right, so if she wants to save her own neck, there’s only one way to do it.

Chad: That’s to name her accomplice.

Gwen: You’re not gonna rat me out, are you?

Ava: You know, despite committing my fair share of crimes, I’ve managed to stay out of prison for most of my life. I’m not getting locked up for this.

Gwen: What are you saying?

Ava: What I’m saying is, if I do get arrested, the only way out may be to give them a name, so I’m gonna ask you one simple question. Why shouldn’t I sacrifice you to save myself?

Jennifer: How did xander take the news?

Jack: Stunned, but he’s gonna be even more stunned when he hears the whole story.

Jennifer: You didn’t tell him, jack?

Jack: I tried, but he hung up before I could. I mean, he wanted to go find her. He was gonna run off, and I told him that she was at the hospital.

Jennifer: Right, but he knows that the real sarah didn’t reject him, right?

Jack: Right. He knows that, but he doesn’t know that the real sarah considers herself to be tony’s late inamorata, renee dumonde.

Tony: I’m so sorry. I’m sorry you had to go through this, darling.

Anna: Don’t you “darling” me. You were playing along with that girl’s delusions.

Tony: Anna, please. Can we have a little compassion? Sarah is mentally ill. What she needs right now is some kindness.

Anna: Oh, really? Well, what if treating a crazy woman with kindness drives your sane wife crazy?

[Eerie music]

Jennifer: Oh, there you are. Okay, “the spectator” just published the article about abigail’s disappearance.

Jack: Jennifer!

Jack: I have news.

Jennifer: What?

Jack: I heard from chad. He and tony know where abigail is.

Jennifer: What? Jack, where is she? Where is she? Are they gonna bring her home? What’s happening?

Jack: Yes, yes.

Jennifer: Okay.

Jack: If everything’s going right…

Jennifer: Yeah.

Jack: And well, chad should be rescuing her as we speak.

Jennifer: Oh, jack. Oh, gosh.

Sarah: Tony! Oh, my darling. Oh, I can’t believe you’re here.

Anna: It’s valentine’s day, and I’m all alone. I can’t reach my husband. I have no idea where he is or if he’s okay.

[Sighs] So now, I have to stress eat. Hey, who ate all the chocolate-covered cherries? Oh, tony, when are you coming home?

Tony: I’m sorry. Did you just call me your love?

Sarah: Well, of course, that’s what you are. That’s what you’ll always be.

[Giggles]

Chad: What the–

Abigail: I can explain, I think.

Kayla: That’s not funny, kristen.

Kristen: Who’s laughing?

Kayla: Telling us that you drugged the food that we just ate is just– is that your–is that your idea of a sick joke? Because it isn’t, and obviously, obviously, you didn’t do it.

Steve: What would be the point; you’re already holding us captive.

Kayla: Yeah, you wouldn’t need to sedate us.

Kristen: If you think I gave you a sedative, oh, you’re wrong. See, I gave you something a little bit stronger.

Steve: How strong?

Kristen: Oh, strong enough to permanently solve my problem that you two have been causing me. I do hope you enjoyed your anniversary. It may be your last.

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

Steve: We knew you were dangerous, but murder?

Kristen: Come on, chill out. No one’s gonna die.

Kayla: But you said–

Kristen: Oh, that I drugged you? Yeah, um, yes I did, but not with poison.

Steve: With what then?

Kristen: Oh, with this nifty little concoction that will make you forgot this whole ordeal. See, I can’t keep the two of you here on this island forever, nor would I want to. Frankly, you’re such lousy company. And lucky for you, I’m not interested in killing you. So, it would really suck if you remembered this little vacay and could testify against me.

Steve: What the hell are you talking about?

Kristen: Sorry, kids. But I’m afraid the island chicken comes with a side of amnesia.

[Screams]

Tony: My dear, what has come over you?

Sarah: Well, I know that I should wait until we’re alone to show my affection, but I just can’T.

Tony: No, no, no, no. That’s enough. You got to stop kissing me.

Sarah: Why?

Tony: Why? Because I’m a happily married man.

[Phone trilling]

Anna: Pick up. Pick up.

[Voicemail beeps] Straight to voicemail. The heck with this. I’m going to go get some answers.

Xander: Whenever we’re alone like this, I just lose all track of time.

Gwen: Really? Well, I know exactly what time it is. It’s time to eat. I’m starving.

Xander: Oh, ditching me for room service. Well, that’s very rude. Come back to bed right now.

Gwen: I will. I just want a few nibbles. Xander.

Xander: I want a few nibbles as well.

Gwen: Here you go.

[Chuckles]

[Both moaning] Um, xander. Um, there’s something I’d– I’d like to talk to you about. I just want to be serious for a minute.

Xander: Of course.

Gwen: Yeah.

Xander: What’s on your mind?

Gwen: Um… our wedding.

Xander: My favorite subject.

Gwen: Yes, well we do have a few details to sort out, don’t we?

Xander: Like what?

Gwen: Like when and where.

Xander: What about st. Luke’s?

Gwen: Right, yeah, the two town pariahs in front of god and everybody. Cue the lightning bolts.

Xander: We’re not so bad. My cousin, ciara, married a serial killer in that church.

Gwen: That sounds lovely. No, I was actually thinking that we could choose somewhere that’s a bit more personal to us.

Xander: Oh, like the– the horton family home?

Gwen: Do you want julie’s pacemaker to stop?

Xander: Good point. Well, let’s just table the venue for now. We’ll discuss the wedding party. I’m gonna ask jack to be my best man. Maybe jennifer would stand up for you?

Gwen: Come on, she thinks I killed her mother.

Xander: Not anymore. She knows that was an accident.

Gwen: Yes, still, it’s in poor taste.

Xander: Wait, I’ve got it, the perfect maid of honor.

Gwen: Who?

Xander: Ava vitali.

Gwen: Why would you suggest that I ask ava vitali to stand up for me at our wedding?

Xander: Well, why not? You–you said you two got close after her son died.

Gwen: No, I said that I offered my condolences because I knew charlie in passing.

Xander: Hm. I got the impression that you two formed a deeper connection, both having lost a child.

Gwen: My god, xander, I mean I just said a few kind words to the woman. You’re making it sound like we’re bosom buddies or something.

Xander: No need to get upset. It was just an idea.

Gwen: [Sighs] Sorry. Sorry. I will find someone. It just–it won’t be ava or jennifer.

Xander: Did you read her article about abigail?

Gwen: Yes, it was heart-wrenching.

Xander: A mother reporting on her daughter’s disappearance. I can’t imagine how difficult that must be, for jack as well. Hey, maybe we should swing by there, you know, express our support. Then I can ask jack if he’ll stand up for me while we’re there.

Gwen: Um, I think you should probably do that on your own because some things are sort of tense between abigail and I. I’m sure I’m the last person that they want to see.

Xander: Gwen, darling, if you’re still upset that your dad suspected that you had something to do with her disappearance, it’s like you said. That was just the worry talking. Jack knows you have no idea where your sister is. And when you told him that he could lean on you, it was clear how much that meant.

Gwen: He can lean on me. But you–you are asking him to be your best man. And, well, I think that that’s a moment that should be shared between just the two of you.

Xander: All right. Well, I’ll give him your love.

Gwen: Please do. Cheeky.

[Soft dramatic music]

Jennifer: But why would kristen go after abigail unless she was involved in sarah’s disappearance, jack?

Jack: Who knows what kristen’s thinking, why she does what she does? But at least when chad gets home with abigail, he will have some answers.

Jennifer: Oh, I hope he does.

Anna: Oh. Thank god you’re here.

Both: Anna.

Anna: I’m sorry. I’m sorry to just barge in like this, but the door was open and I’m going out of my mind with worry…

Jennifer: No, anna–

Anna: About tony, about abigail, about chad. No one will return my calls or my texts.

Jennifer: No, anna, we have really good news.

Anna: You do?

Both: Yes.

Jack: We know where abigail is, thanks to tony and chad. They’re on the way to her right now.

Anna: Oh, my gosh. That’s really great news. Oh, how wonderful. You must be so relieved.

Both: Yes.

Anna: Where is she?

Jack: Well, kristen has been holding her hostage on this abandoned dimera island. The one, you know, that’s off the coast of cartagena.

Anna: Oh, that island? Oh, wow. Well, I’m very happy for you, for all of us.

Jack: Well, you don’t look very happy. What is it, anna?

Anna: Well, it’s just that I know that island in question. I mean, I guess we’ve all heard of it, right? But for me, personally– never mind, I’m not going to rain on your parade with my selfish reaction.

Jennifer: Could you just tell us what you’re thinking, anna?

Anna: Well, I happen to know that my tony spent an extended holiday on that island with his very unstable– maybe I should say bonkers ex-lover, renée dumonde.

Sarah: I should have known that she was the reason you were being so cold to me.

Tony: Who is she?

Sarah: Your so-called wife. She’s been a thorn in my side since you two started dating, which you only did to get over me because we thought we were siblings.

Chad: I’m sorry, what?

Sarah: Don’t you see, tony? It didn’t work then and it won’t work now. You’ll never get over me.

Tony: Oh, dear god. Please help me.

Abigail: That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you. Sarah thinks that she’s renée dumonde.

Steve: Not so tough now, are you?

Kristen: Oh, enjoy your victory while you still remember it, ’cause you won’t once the drugs kick in.

Steve: Just how much of that crap did you put in our food anyway?

Kristen: Oh, enough to obliterate the memories of a herd of elephants.

Steve: I still think she’s bluffing.

Kristen: I assure you, I’m not. So if I were you, I would take this time that you have left to reminisce. You know, to reflect on all those warm and fuzzy moments you had with your children, with each other. Because soon, your epic love affair with the ole patch here, it will permanently fade to black.

Is now a good time

Tony: How is this possible? How can sarah horton think she’s renée dumonde?

Sarah: Ugh, god, not you too. I can understand this sarah nonsense from these two. But you? The only man I’ve ever truly loved? We can talk about it on the way to salem. All right, I’ve been stuck on this island for long enough. Let’s go.

Chad: We’ll be right down.

Sarah: Wonderful. That gives tony and i a moment to be alone.

Anna: Thank you. So my tony got that shady dimera pilot to come clean, huh?

Jennifer: Yes, and we are so grateful, anna.

Jack: Beyond grateful. I mean, without tony, I don’t think we’d– we wouldn’t have found her.

Anna: Well, as I’m sure you know, tony is devoted to all his brothers, but especially chad. And he would do anything for him.

Jennifer: Well, he really has gone above and beyond for what he’s done for chad this time. And for us too.

Jack: Yes. I mean I–hey, I need to let gwen know abigail’s coming home. Gwen has been so worried.

Anna: Well, how is your other daughter, jack?

Jack: Oh, doing very well, thank you–getting married, in fact.

Anna: [Laughs] Married? Really? Oh. Well, I’m so–that just surprises me, frankly.

Jack: Surprised, why?

Anna: Well–uh, never mind.

Jack: Tell us, anna.

Anna: Well, I don’t want to be insensitive, but– I mean, I know she is your daughter, but she has created a world of problems since she came to salem. I’m just wondering who– who would have the tolerance to put up with her tendency to lie, to be vindictive? I mean, what man would have the patience and fortitude to share his life with a woman like gwen?

Xander: That man would be me.

[Knocking on door]

Gwen: Bloody hell.

[Sighs]

Ava: Hey.

Gwen: What are you doing here?

Ava: We got a problem.

Chad: So kristen injected sarah with the same drug gwen used in your champagne?

Abigail: Yes. And I feel awful because I know firsthand the damage that that drug can do. You’re confused, and you have hallucinations. You feel terrified. And now sarah thinks she’s an entirely different person.

Chad: Right. There’s one thing I don’t get, is how did the drug give her my dead sister’s memories?

Abigail: Renée’s memories didn’t come from the drug. They came from her diary.

Sarah: But tony, we can’t leave. We have to eat first.

Tony: Oh, we can eat on the plane.

Sarah: But my sister went to the trouble of cooking up a feast for tonight. She made my famous island chicken. It would be an insult not to stay and enjoy it.

Tony: Oh, I’m sure she’ll understand.

Sarah: You listen to me! No one is going anywhere until we all sit down together and have a meal. I won’t take no for an answer.

[Laughs]

Kayla: We need to find the others before our memories fade. If we tell sarah and abigail what kristen’s done, then they can alert the hospital, and the staff can help us out as soon as we get home.

Kristen: Good luck with that, considering I drugged sarah and abigail too.

Steve: You did what?

Kristen: Oh, yeah, that’s right. All of my guests are having my very special island chicken tonight. By morning, none of you will remember how to tie your own shoes.

[Laughs]

Only daisy cottage cheese will do

Abigail: When sarah first got here, she was just like I was after gwen had drugged me. So to keep her calm and occupied, kristen gave her a bunch of books to read.

Chad: And renée’s diary was one of them?

Abigail: Yeah. Yeah, and she became so obsessed with the story, she started to think the entries were hers. And then she had a year to sink deeper and deeper into that delusion.

Chad: Poor sarah. Well, the good news is is we found you so we can head back to salem, and we can get her the help she needs.

Abigail: If I may ask, how did you find me? Not that i didn’t think you would.

Chad: Yeah. Um, ned grainger actually told us where you were.

Abigail: The pilot.

Chad: Mm-hmm. An eyewitness confirmed that he flew out of the airfield the same night you disappeared. I didn’t think that was a coincidence. But there was no flight plan. There was no security cam footage, and I didn’t know what to do. Luckily–luckily tony knew this ned guy a little bit.

Abigail: So you were able to just track him down?

Chad: Yeah, in florida. Tony convinced him to tell us where you were. And now we know kristen put him up to kidnapping you and flying you out here.

Abigail: Actually, it wasn’t kristen. It was ava.

Gwen: Are you mad? Xander could have seen you.

Ava: Relax. I watched him leave, I waited a bit, and then I came up.

Gwen: Why are you here?

Ava: I told you. We got a problem. I saw your step-monster’s article.

Gwen: Oh, that.

Ava: Uh, yeah, that. The deverauxs are back, and they’re using their newspaper to make a big stink about their missing daughter. It’s bad, gwen. It’s very, very bad.

Gwen: Okay, just calm down.

Ava: Well, that’s easy for you to say because abigail didn’t see you wearing the sarah mask.

Gwen: Which is not necessarily a problem.

Ava: I’m sorry, are you joking? What do you think is gonna happen if chad and tony bring dr. Horton and her chatterbox of a cousin back alive and well?

Jack: So xander, I’m sure anna didn’t mean to–

Anna: No, no, no. Jack, don’t apologize for me, ’cause I actually meant to say exactly what I said. And I’m sorry. I wish I didn’t feel the way I do because I care about you. And I realize, jack, that because she is your daughter, that you have tender feelings for her, but I don’T.

Xander: Really? I never would have known.

Jennifer: You know what? I just think we should stay off the subject of gwen right now, right?

Xander: No, no, no. No, let’s stay on the subject. I’d love to. And what I’d like to say is that gwen was deeply unhappy and very angry when she came to salem. That led to her consequently behaving rather badly.

Anna: [Laughs] Rather badly?

Xander: But she’s changed. She’s a wonderful, big-hearted person who feels deep regret for the hurt she caused the people that she now considers to be her family. Never mind “considers,” they are her family, and she’s terribly sorry for the way she behaved towards them.

Anna: Hm. You sure about that?

Jennifer: Anna, please.

Anna: All right, all right. Okay. I’ll shut up now. But I’m sorry– well, I’m not sorry about what I said about gwen. But I am sorry for all of you people in this room who now trust that woman. I mean, she was hired as a nanny to abigail and chad’s kids. And then she sleeps with chad just to ruin abigail’s life? And look what she tried to do to your marriage, you two. Letting you know that he had an affair while you were in a coma? And to what purpose? Spite or whatever?

Jennifer: I’ve gotten past that, anna.

Anna: Well, you are a more forgiving person than I am, because I could never get past the fact that someone took a wrecking ball to my life the way she did to yours and jack’s and to chad and abigail’S.

Xander: Look, can I please just get a word in here?

Anna: No. No. Because I know you’re just gonna go on some more about the big change in her. And yes, people can change. But in the case of gwen rizczech or riz–whatever, however you pronounce her name, I suggest you be careful, xander, because you never know what a woman like that could still be hiding.

Tony: Well, shall we get on with this?

[Both chuckle] Oh, everything looks delicious. Oh. Ow!

Sarah: Daphne dimera raised you better than that. It’s polite to wait until everyone is seated. Really, you were so concerned with decorum earlier. It’s obvious that anna’s lack of breeding has rubbed off on you. But don’t worry, I’ll fix it. I wonder what’s keeping abigail and my long-lost little brother.

Chad: Ava vitali was the one in the sarah mask?

Abigail: I know, it makes no sense. Why would ava want to hurt sarah?

Chad: I don’t know, maybe she was doing it to help a friend.

Abigail: You mean kristen?

Chad: Yeah, they were close at one point.

Abigail: But close enough to want to commit multiple felonies for her?

Chad: She’s in the mob. It’s kind of right up her alley.

Abigail: True.

Chad: Wait, so you– so you ripped off the mask, and then somebody just hit you from behind? Were you able to see whoever it was before you lost consciousness?

Abigail: No, no. The only person I know for sure was there is ava. Of course, maybe we could ask aunt kayla and uncle steve if they have any other insights. We should probably go find them.

Chad: Steve and kayla?

Abigail: Yeah. Kristen kidnapped them in italy and brought them here.

Chad: Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go.

Anna: That’s fine. I’ve had my say about gwen. Not another word.

Jack: Very good, very good. So xander, we just wanted to tell you– ’cause anna’s already heard the news, that abigail is coming home.

Jennifer: Yes.

Xander: Oh, you waited this long to tell me?

Jack: Well, I couldn’t get a word in edgewise.

Xander: That is tremendous, tremendous news. That’s why I came over. Gwen and I read jennifer’s article in “the spectator,” and we wanted to express our support.

Anna: Oh, really? And, uh, where is gwen and all her support?

Xander: Well, if you must know, anna, as concerned as gwen was about her sister, she encouraged me to come here without her, given the still strained relationship between her and abigail.

Anna: How sensitive of her.

Jack: Anna, please.

Anna: Okay, all right. All right. On a happier note, it’ll be so wonderful and such a relief when abigail and chad and tony all come back safely to salem.

Jennifer: Yes.

Xander: On that, we can all agree. I know gwen feels the same.

Gwen: You need to stop, okay? Because your speculation, your doomsaying, is not helpful.

Ava: Oh, I’m sorry, gwen. Am I making you nervous?

Gwen: Yes.

Ava: Good. You should be. You should be freaking out, because if sarah and abigail get back here and they start squawking, it’s not just my life that’s gonna go up in smoke. It’s yours too.

Gwen: Kristen’s not gonna let that happen because she promised.

Ava: You think she’s gonna keep her promise?

Gwen: Well, she’s your friend, isn’t she?

Ava: A friend who blackmailed us into helping her escape. Trust me. If kristen’s back is up against the wall, she’s not gonna think twice about selling us out. And if she starts singing, then it is bye-bye, boyfriend. Bye-bye, daddy. Hello, statesville.

Kristen: Ah!

Steve: This should hold her for a while.

Kayla: Come on. Let’s go find abigail and sarah.

Kristen: Well, you better hope that they still remember you. I guess this is goodbye.

Kayla: Oh, no. No, no, no. You are going back to salem, where you’re gonna pay for everything you’ve done. Make no mistake, you’ll see us again.

Kristen: Oh, but by then, you won’t have a clue who I am or why I’m about to kill you.

[Laughing]

[Suspenseful music]

Chad: We need to find steve and kayla.

Tony: They’re here?

Chad: Apparently.

Abigail: Do you know where they are?

Sarah: I might have an idea or two.

Abigail: Could you take us to them, please?

Sarah: No can do, sis. I don’t trust that steve. He threatened kristen. I think he might be that serial killer that she warned me about.

Abigail: Um, okay, steve is my uncle. He’s a wonderful man. Can you please just take us to him and kayla?

Sarah: Okay, I will, right after we eat.

Abigail: We need to go now.

Sarah: Let me make myself clear. If you want to see your aunt and uncle, you will pull up a chair and join us.

Abigail: Fine.

[Tense music]

Chad: So, have you had any problems with the food on the island?

Abigail: Of course I was worried that I was gonna be poisoned, but it’s either eat or starve, so. Food’s been fine so far. This should be fine too.

Sarah: It is better than fine. It is the best chicken you will have in your life, so eat. And then I will take you o steve and kayla, I promise. Come on. What could be the harm in all of us having a nice family dinner together?

[Laughs] Rob did his best to manage his constipation

Gwen: By the way, xander’s not my boyfriend. He’s my fiancé.

Ava: Congratulations. Hm. Anyway, sorry I got a little worked up before.

Gwen: A little?

Ava: All right, the article threw me a little bit. But I’m happy for you, gwen, I really am. Guess what. My son is proposing to his girlfriend tonight.

Gwen: Wow.

Ava: Mm-hmm.

Gwen: Must be something in the water.

Ava: Don’t think so, because I’m drinking it, and nobody’s asking for my hand. Looks like everyone’s getting their happily ever after but me.

Gwen: Ava.

Ava: No, no, it’s all good. I mean, who needs love when you’ve got revenge to keep you warm?

Gwen: I will tell you that revenge does not solve anything. No, it doesn’t– does not make you feel better. It just makes you feel worse. You have to find another way.

Ava: Well, I tried, gwen. I went legit. I decided to stop being so possessive and paranoid. And what’d that get me? A boyfriend who cheated on me with my best friend.

Gwen: Which is awful.

Ava: Yeah. It’s not your problem, it’s mine. But seriously, congratulations. I’m sure that you and xander are going to have a long and happy life together. See ya.

Anna: So on that happy note where we’re all relieved– no, thrilled that your daughter and her husband and my husband will soon be home in salem safe and sound, I guess I better go.

Jack: Of course.

Jennifer: Yes, so good to see you, anna.

Anna: You too as well, my dear. And xander, I strongly urge you to heed my warning about gwen.

Xander: And I urge you, anna, to keep an open mind about my fiancée, who actually speaks quite highly of you.

Anna: [Laughs] Really? Yeah, I bet she’s just wild about me.

Xander: Well, she believes people can change, so she’s confident that one day, you’ll change your mind about her, maybe even offer her your hand in friendship.

Anna: Oh, well, not very likely, but I suppose stranger things have happened. So I’ll see you all soon.

Jennifer: Yes, goodbye.

Jack: Yes. Thank you, yes.

Anna: Just once again, congratulations on the wonderful news.

Jennifer: Yes.

Jack: Thanks.

Xander: Well, that was delightful.

Jennifer: Whew.

Jack: Anna can be outspoken.

Xander: That’s one word for it. Hey, now that we have a moment, just us, and you’ve gotten that great news about abigail, I just wanted to ask you, jack, if you’d be my best mate when I marry your other daughter?

Jack: Well, I– I have to think about it. Okay, I’ve thought about it, and yes, I’d be glad and happy to be your best mate.

[All laughing]

Xander: Well, I’m glad and happy to be your mate and soon, your son-in-law.

Jack: And that will make me a lucky man indeed.

Abigail: Well, the sooner we finish, the sooner sarah will take us to find aunt kayla and uncle steve.

Chad: I got to admit, this island chicken is actually really good.

Sarah: [Chuckles]

Kayla: No!

Steve: Don’t eat that chicken!

Kayla: Don’t eat the chicken!

Abigail: Oh, steve!

Kayla: My god, it’s too late.

Chad: What do you mean it’s too late? My asthma felt anything but normal.

Kayla: How much did you eat?

Chad: I ate half a chicken!

Sarah: Would you all calm down, please? No one has been poisoned.

Kayla: That’s not true. Kristen told us that she drugged the food.

Sarah: And I’m telling you she didn’T. I switched it out.

Tony: Switched it out with what?

Sarah: I found this earlier in the kitchen when kristen was cooking. It was filled with this weird, cloudy liquid, and it had a feather next to it. And then I remembered kristen telling me that the serial killer that was after me used a raven’s feather as his calling card.

Kayla: Well, that’s probably just a chicken feather.

Sarah: Well, we can’t be too careful. So I poured out the liquid, and I–I cleaned it very well. And then I filled it up with milk.

Chad: Just regular milk?

Sarah: We have goats here.

Abigail: So we’re not in any danger?

Sarah: Well, not unless you’re lactose intolerant.

Jack: For you, my love.

Jennifer: [Gasps] Oh. What is this? Why are you giving me this rose?

Jack: I don’t know. Check your calendar.

Jennifer: [Gasps] Jack. It’s valentine’s day. Oh.

Jack: All day long.

Jennifer: I feel terrible. What–I– oh, with everything going on, how did you even find time to shop?

Jack: Well, as a matter of fact, I’ve got a little story, mrs. Deveraux. You see, a long time ago, this plucky, young intern–

Jennifer: Plucky, I like it.

Jack: Yeah. Her name was jennifer rose horton, or ms. Horton for short.

Jennifer: Mm-hmm.

Jack: She came storming into my office, my newsroom, and my life and turned everything upside down and taught me a thing or two about faith.

Jennifer: Is that right?

Jack: Oh, yes. And with that faith, I decided to distract my mind for half an hour from worrying about our daughter to make sure that her mother had a valentine’s day to remember.

Jennifer: Bless your sweet heart, jack.

Jack: And that faith assured me that abigail would be coming home, the same way that I will always come home to you, my ms. Horton, jennifer rose.

Jennifer: I love you forever, jack deveraux.

Jack: I love you.

Jennifer: Happy valentine’S.

Jack: Happy valentine’s day.

Chad: What are we doing up here? We have to get on the jet and go home.

Abigail: I just want to grab this. We might need it if we want to be able to speak to renéE. I just really want sarah to be okay.

Chad: When we get home, we’re gonna be able to get her the help that she needs, okay? And I got to say how impressed I am that you knew that that was not sarah back in salem. I mean, I still can’t believe that it was ava.

Abigail: Neither can I.

Chad: As soon as we get home, she’s going down, and so is her accomplice.

[Door unlocks]

Gwen: How did it go with jack and jennifer?

Xander: Interesting.

Gwen: Interesting? How so?

Xander: Anna dimera was there.

Gwen: Oh. Yeah. She’s my biggest fan.

Xander: Forget that old windbag, I have some good news.

Gwen: Do you? Tell me.

Xander: Yeah, well, for starters, your dad agreed to stand up for me.

Gwen: Xander, that is wonderful.

Xander: That’s not all. Looks like abigail will be back in time for our wedding.

Gwen: What?

Xander: They found abigail. She’s coming home.

Sarah: You have no idea how happy I am that we’re finally together.

Tony: I have some idea.

Sarah: I can’t wait to get back to salem. Our first stop is gonna be divorce court.

Tony: Who’s getting divorced?

Sarah: You are. You’re going to kick that hideous anna to the curb.

Tony: Huh?

Sarah: [Laughs]

Kayla: I can’t wait to see kristen’s face when she finds out their plane was ruined.

Steve: Yeah, by her precious renee and some goat’s milk.

Tripp: How’d what go?

Roman: Don’t give me that. You proposed to allie, right?

Tripp: Yeah. Yeah, that was a disaster.

Allie: Oh, it’s you.

Kate: Sorry. Who were you expecting?

Allie: Nobody. I was hoping it was tripp.

Kate: Honey, you’ve been crying. What’s wrong?

Allie: Everything.

Kate: Oh, baby. Oh.

Allie: [Breathing heavily]

Tony: [Sighs] Seems like it’s taking forever.

Chad: I’m losing it. We got this information from abby’s kidnapper, who could’ve just sent us on a wild-goose chase.

Tony: Well, I have a decent relationship with ned. That’s why I was able to convince him that it was in his best interest to tell us the truth.

Chad: Well, I hope you convinced him.

Tony: I threatened him with anna’s wrath.

Chad: Okay, so then you brought out the heavy artillery. It’s just…it’s taking us so long to get there.

Tony: Chad, our time in key west paid off. We now know where abigail is.

Chad: With kristen. I just pray that abby’s safe and unharmed by the time we finally get there.

[Banging on door]

Abigail: Kristen! Kristen, let me out of here! Tell me I can come and go as i please and then you lock the damn door?

[Banging] Kristen!

[Sighs] I was out of my mind to believe her anyway.

[Keys jangling]

[Gasps] Oh, my god! It’s you!

Kristen: [Grunts] Well, happy valentine’s day, lovebirds.

[Tense music]

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

Kristen: [Sighs] I am sorry about the gags. I just–my head was killing me. I couldn’t bear another lecture about how I turned the tables on you, hmm? You two have always been so pushy. And your niece, she takes after you as well.

Steve: Abigail? She’s here?

Kayla: What have you done with her?

Kristen: Well, at the moment, she’s curled up with a really good book.

Steve: Tell us where abigail is right now, or I’m gonna–

Kristen: Oh, you’ll what? You’ll what? You’re gonna shoot me with a flare gun? I mean, you know what? I’ve already tried to shoot the lights off my christmas tree. And guess what. Didn’t work.

Steve: You can do some real damage with these things if you know what you’re doing.

Kristen: Oh. And do you know what you’re doing, steve?

Steve: You bet I do.

[Body thuds, flare gun clatters]

Kristen: You see, I’m not the one who clobbered you. It was sarah. Oh, I’m sorry, renee dumonde.

[Dramatic music]

Abigail: Sarah! Oh, my god! I am so glad to see you. You’re the reason that I’m here. I came looking for you.

Sarah: What are you doing in my room? I had to sleep somewhere else last night.

Abigail: I’m so s–

Sarah: I don’t even know who you are.

Abigail: Sarah, I–

Sarah: Why does everyone keep calling me that? My name is renee. Renee dumonde.

Abigail: I’m sorry if i upset you. I know everything that’s happened to you. Kristen told me all about it.

Sarah: What’s happened to me? It’s not me; it’s you and everyone else. I know who I am. What, are you all crazy or something? I have moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.

Kate: So you cheated on tripp. Do you mind me asking who with?

Allie: Chanel.

Kate: Okay.

Allie: She’s, like, my best friend I ever had. When she moved here, I couldn’t believe how happy I was to see her again.

Kate: Did… I mean, did chanel come on to you or…

Allie: No, no. Definitely not. It was–it was just a couple of kisses, that’s all.

Kate: Do you consider that cheating?

Allie: No. And I told tripp about that, and he was cool. I mean, he didn’t judge me at all or anything. And then chanel and johnny got married and we put it all behind us.

Kate: Okay. Well, honey, I don’t understand the problem.

Allie: Well, at chanel’s wedding party, when johnny broke up with her in front of everyone, she was a wreck. I’d never seen her like that. She’s usually kicking ass. Anyway, she asked me to stay over, and we were laying in bed and it just kinda happened. It was just one time.

Kate: And you told tripp after he asked you to marry him.

Allie: No. No, it wasn’t me who told tripp. It was my brother.

Kate: Johnny?

Allie: Mm-hmm. He showed up right after I said yes, and we told him we were engaged, and he just blurted it out.

Kate: What? Why would he do something so cruel?

Allie: I don’t know. He’s not the same anymore, grandma.

[Sighs] Chanel told tripp he was lying.

Kate: But tripp didn’t buy it.

Allie: After johnny left, he asked me if it was true. I took one look at his face and I knew I had to be honest.

Kate: So look, honey. If you are feeling confused about your sexuality, perhaps it isn’t the best time to commit to–

Allie: No, no. I’m not confused. I love tripp.

Kate: [Sighs] God, I would just love to tear johnny from limb to limb.

Allie: Thinking about what he did to chanel and now what he’s done to me… I hate him, grandma. I told him he’s not my brother anymore.

Kate: Well, good for you.

Allie: Doesn’t matter anyway, though. I mean, I’m the one who screwed everything up. I kept something huge from tripp for weeks, and he found out anyway.

Kate: In the worst possible way, the worst possible time.

[Sighs] Honey, is there any hope?

Allie: I don’t think so. I mean, I wouldn’t blame tripp if he never wanted to see me again.

Roman: Okay, well… I did hear that something happened between allie and chanel, but I thought it was minor and over with.

Tripp: Them kissing?

Roman: Yeah.

Tripp: Yeah. Yeah, allie told me about that. And I was pretty surprised, but she said it had nothing to do with us and that it was over. So I…made myself get past that, and… after that, things were really good between us. I mean, great even. And she knew that, and– and she went and slept with chanel.

Roman: How long ago?

Tripp: The night of the party. Wedding party where johnny told everybody that the marriage was over.

Roman: Okay, well, that was, like, a month ago.

Tripp: I shouldn’t be telling you this stuff. I mean, she’s your granddaughter.

Roman: Yeah. Yeah. And I love her. But she’s been through hell and you’re, like– well, hell, you’re the best thing that’s happened to her in a long time, so that’s why I gave you my blessing.

Tripp: And you also told me not to rush into marriage unless I was sure that’s what she wanted, and… man, were you right.

Kristen: Mm. When sarah clocked you, you went down for the count, and it was glorious. Oh, and you, you tough little doctor/barmaid. You looked like a scared baby lamb.

Kayla: Steve. Steve, are you all right? Why would you do that? You stood up at our wedding. What is wrong with you?

Sarah: What’s wrong with you? Why were you threatening my sister?

Kristen: Oh, thank you, renee. Your loyalty has always been so touching. But you know what? I can take it from here.

[Tense music]

And since you were down for the count, it was relatively easy to get you and your beloved down here. Hmm?

Steve: [Muffled speech]

Kristen: [Growls mockingly]

[Laughs] For crying out loud, use your words, huh? And mind your manners if you know what’s good for you.

Steve: What have you done with abigail?

Kayla: Where is she?

Kristen: Oh, my god. I mean, I make you guys this wonderful meal and all you can do is harp on about abigail? I’m telling you, she’s doing just fine. I mean, except for her guilty conscience.

Abigail: I came here hoping to find you, and you’re the one who found me. But, um… if you’ll give me a chance, I’ll try to explain everything. Do you recognize this?

Sarah: Of course. It’s my diary.

Abigail: Well, I hope you don’t mind, but I read it.

Sarah: [Laughs] I should be upset, but I guess it’s an open book.

Abigail: It’s an unbelievable story, though. I know it’s true, but the thing is, it’s not your story. It’s renee’S.

Sarah: You say you wanna explain things, but you don’t understand anything.

Abigail: Okay, you trust kristen, right?

Sarah: She’s my little sister.

Abigail: Okay, well, she told me that she gave this to you after she brought you here.

Sarah: She gave me a lot of books.

Abigail: But you had been drugged and you were kidnapped, so you were vulnerable and you were really, really confused. So you read this and you became convinced that this was the story of your life. But it’s not your story, because you are not renee.

Sarah: How could reading a diary make me think that I am someone that I’m not?

Abigail: Because of me.

Tony: I understand your feelings about kristen.

Chad: She wasn’t always this bad. When I came into the family, she treated me like an annoying kid brother, but she seemed to like me.

Tony: Well, it all seemed to have gotten worse for her when her relationship with brady fell apart and she lost contact with her daughter.

Chad: If you say so.

Tony: I think there is a part of her that still thinks of you as being her brother and remembers jennifer as a friend. But I’m in agreement. I don’t think she’d bring any harm to your wife and jennifer’s child.

Chad: Well, even if that’s true–god willing, it is– we have no idea what to expect when we land on that island. If we ever do. I mean, I didn’t even know this place existed. I don’t know anything about this place.

Tony: I do. I’ve spent some time there.

Chad: On family business or…

Tony: Actually, it was a romantic getaway.

Chad: Why didn’t you tell me you and anna had been there?

Tony: No, no, it was before anna, before you were born. There was a woman I was very much in love with by the name of renee dumonde.

Sarah: How can it be your fault that anything happened to me if I don’t even know you?

Abigail: It’s my fault that you got the drug that kristen gave you.

Sarah: What drug?

Abigail: You found a syringe loaded with a mind-altering drug.

Sarah: You’re making this up.

Abigail: No, no, I’m not. No, I know because I tried to give it to my sister. I mean, she’d done terrible things to me, which is no excuse. But I locked her in the room that you were in.

Sarah: [Laughs] And you’re supposed to be my savior?

Abigail: Look, I didn’t give it to her, okay, because somebody stopped me. But…I left it behind. And then you found it and you tried to use it to defend yourself against kristen.

Sarah: Why would I defend myself against kristen? She’s always been good to me.

Abigail: She may have told you that, but it was a lie. Okay, kristen is the one who locked you in that room. Then she injected you with the drug, and then she brought you here, okay? Now… if you would let me tell you the whole story, I believe that I can help you understand how this all really happened… and who you really are.

Kristen: It’s true. Little abigail was planning on shooting her big sister full of happy juice and sweat a confession out of her.

Steve: But abigail didn’t go through with her plan. She came to her senses.

Kayla: It was you. You’re the one that shot sarah with that happy juice and put renee’s diary in her hand at just the right moment.

Kristen: Okay, it was sarah who was waving that syringe in my face. I was forced to use it on her. But it was abigail who left the syringe where sarah could find it, so you know what? This is all on abigail.

Steve: Oh, man. That’s stretching it.

Kayla: You know, I’m not gonna believe a word you say until I see abigail for myself and see that she is all right.

Steve: Take us to her. Now.

Kristen: Aren’t you guys hungry? Don’t you want this lovely meal I made? Come on, you kids. You have so much to celebrate, huh?

[Sighs] See, it’s not just valentine’s day. It’s your anniversary.

[Tense music]

Kate: As someone who has had a certain number of relationships turn bad, I don’t think you should ever give up hope.

Allie: You weren’t there.

Kate: I know. I know. But I’m thinking perhaps tripp reacted the way he did because he felt blindsided. And once he calms down, he’s going to realize how much he’s thrown away. Have you tried to talk to him yet?

Allie: No. He was so mad, hurt. I don’t even think he could stand to look at me.

Kate: Okay, well, look. I am not going to leave you here by yourself, okay? Why don’t you come to the pub with me? I’m going to have dinner with roman.

Allie: No, no. Okay? It’s valentine’s day and I’m a mess. You guys should be alone.

Kate: Okay, but you shouldn’t be alone. And after what’s happened to you, do you think we’re gonna have a good time? Because we’re not. Honey, you are the child of my child, and I love you more than I can even say. All right? Please, will you come with me?

Tripp: I just– I just don’t get it, you know? I– it’s not that she cheated on me– or it’s not just that she cheated on me. It was with chanel. So it just makes me think maybe… maybe she’s not as into men as she wants to be.

Roman: Look… I can’t answer that, but I can tell you that I do know what it feels like… to be cheated on by a woman you thought you’d spend the rest of your life with.

Tripp: Dad and kayla told me about you and marlena.

Roman: Yeah. Marlena, she told me that she loved me. She swore that she loved me, and I believed her. But turns out that she loved john in a different way, and because of that, our marriage ended.

Tripp: I think allie loves me; that’s the hard part. She’s a good person. She wouldn’t just go behind my back for someone who meant nothing to her. So maybe… maybe she just loves chanel in a different way. Like marlena and john.

Roman: Well, you know, we’d been married a long time when we split up. We had kids. You’re not there yet. Maybe this thing with chanel is a phase, you know? But look, what do I know? You tell me, though, that… you believe that allie still loves you. And you know you love her. So isn’t there possibly some way that you two could get past this? Are you one of the millions of americans

Chad: Whoa. So you and renee fell in love… and then found out that you were brother and sister?

Tony: Right.

Chad: The old man really got around, huh?

Tony: No, renee broke it off without ever telling me the real reason. But she finally discovered… that it was never true.

Chad: Oh, because you’re not father’s biological son?

Tony: Well, by that time… she’d already married julie’s son, david banning, and… I’d met my anna.

Chad: And that was it for you two.

Tony: Well, as far as I was concerned, it was, but renee felt differently. She felt she’d been cheated out of happiness and… she wanted me back. Oh, she did such hideous things to anna.

Chad: I’m sorry, man.

Tony: And it was all for naught. Anna’s the love of my life. And she finally had to accept the fact that nothing she could do could come between us. I hate to say this. I never wished renee any harm… but my life has become far less complicated now that she’s dead.

[Sighs]

[Chuckles] I think I see–I can see land. As a matter of fact, I can see lights. We might be there soon.

[Chuckles]

[Ominous music]

Sarah: So let me get this straight.

[Laughs] I happened upon kristen while she was masquerading as someone else. So she kidnapped me and locked me in a “secret room.”

Abigail: Right.

Sarah: Mm. And that’s where I found this syringe. And I came at her with it, but she got hold of it and used it on me.

Abigail: Truth is stranger than fiction.

Sarah: I don’t believe any of this.

Abigail: Because you don’t remember any of it. The drug affected your mind and it wiped away any memory that you have of being sarah horton.

Sarah: Kristen would never do that to me.

Abigail: Kristen would do that to anybody who got in her way, okay? Look. Now, I don’t think that she knew what was in the syringe, okay? It’s a very, very powerful drug, and it has made you believe that you are someone that you’re not. Now, I know what it can do. My sister gave it to me. She spiked a glass of champagne with it, and the next thing i know, I’m having hallucinations and I was in a psychiatric hospital for months. I could have lost my husband, my kids, everyone, everything that I love. But I got treatment and I got better. Okay? Now, sarah… if you don’t listen to me, you could go down the same rabbit hole that I did, and… you might never get out.

[Cork pops]

Kristen: Whoo!

[Chuckles] See, valentine’s day must mean a lot to you two. You got married twice on that same day. And I bet you wore red both times.

[Laughs] So how about you two tuck into some island chicken, hmm? And I can untie you. It’ll be lovely.

Kayla: Why is she doing this?

Steve: I don’t know. But I don’t think we should touch that chicken.

Kristen: Oh, come on. I’m always on the side of people in love.

Steve: Even you can’t make that one work.

Kristen: [Laughs] There’s no point in you two not enjoying what this beautiful island has to offer, hmm? Hey. You know what? You’re not going anywhere. So you can either just sit here tied up and stare at each other, or… you can enjoy this wonderful dinner and… celebrate the important milestone. It’s your choice.

[Suspenseful music]

Steve: Okay. We’ll take the dinner.

Kristen: Good for you.

[Laughs] And I’m gonna untie you, hmm?

Tripp: Allie said she still wanted to marry me. What happened with chanel was just a mistake that she’d always regret.

Roman: Okay. And you believed her?

Tripp: I wanted to.

Roman: Do you still love her?

Steve: I don’t know. I mean, we saw her uncork that champagne. I don’t think even kristen could poison it and cork it back up again.

Kayla: Yeah, but she could do anything she wants to that island chicken.

Steve: Yeah. But she didn’t poison that salad you ate.

Kayla: That’s true. And we do need to eat something so we don’t pass out.

Steve: Can’t afford to pass out. And I’m tired of second-guessing that woman. I want us to celebrate our anniversary. Okay? So I say let’s go for it. Happy anniversary, sweetness.

Allie: [Sobs] Oh, god.

Steve: [Sighs] So how do you feel?

Kayla: Like I haven’t been poisoned.

Steve: Yeah, I feel okay too.

Steve: What were you just thinking about?

Kayla: Um… our first valentine’s day wedding at julie’s place when it was still club tbd.

Steve: Yeah, we just got back from trying to track stefano down, and we said, “to hell with that guy. We’re getting married.”

Kayla: Yeah. You know, it was so special because joey and stephanie were there.

Steve: Oh, yeah.

Kayla: I really thought that was gonna be our forever wedding.

Steve: Should have been. ‘Cause that guy who sent you those divorce papers wasn’t really me.

Kayla: Wish I would have known that.

Steve: So do I. But we’re fine now. Okay? And last valentine’s day, that was our forever wedding.

Kayla: Well, it was certainly my only surprise wedding I ever had.

[Laughs]

Steve: That’s right. Yeah, it was a surprise for you. But I just could not wait another day to be your husband and for you to be my wife. You know what? I always remember the last thing you said to me when you vowed to be my wife again.

Kayla: What?

Steve: You said you knew this was gonna be our last wedding… because you’d never let me go again.

Kayla: I meant that. If you decide to leave me, I’m– I’m going with you.

Abigail: Uh, okay. I am not your sister-in-law. I’m your cousin. Okay? Your dad and my grandfather were brothers.

Sarah: I didn’t even know I had a brother named chad.

Abigail: Well, he didn’t know he was stefano’s son until he was in college.

Sarah: So my long-lost brother. You know, for a while, I thought that tony was my half brother. It was awful. But then we found out that stefano wasn’t his father. But it was too late.

Tony: So… how do you like the family pile?

Chad: Well, it could use a renovation, that’s for sure.

Tony: Yes, it does look a bit… the worse for wear. But I remember it.

[Sighs] I’ve been here before.

Chad: With renee. This place is enormous.

Tony: Yes, it has at least two wings. You know, we should check every room. Hopefully, we’ll find abigail in one of them.

Chad: Well, then we should split up.

Kristen: Hmm. I could have sworn I heard the front door.

My asthma felt anything but normal.

Abigail: Now that you know that I’m married to a dimera, you must believe I would never lie to you.

[Gasps] Oh, my god!

Chad: [Chuckles]

Allie: [Sniffles] “Hi, I put henry to bed and I’m going to bed myself. I’ll get up with henry in the morning so you and tripp can sleep as late as you want.”

[Sniffles] “I hope you had the best, most romantic valentine’s day ever.” Oh.

Tripp: “Amore mio.” My love.

Steve: So I’m at the pub, all set. Everything looks beautiful. And john calls at the last minute and he says…

Kayla: Mm-hmm?

Steve: Marlena can’t marry us and he can’t be my best man because they both have… food poisoning.

Kayla: Mm-hmm. Because marlena decided that she was gonna make john a valentine’s day breakfast.

Steve: Oh, big mistake.

Kayla: Danger.

Steve: Yeah. Yeah. Then our good friend abe showed up. He just happened to come to the pub just in time. He agreed to marry us, and tripp filled in as my best man.

Kayla: And sarah just happened to be going to the pub to pick up dessert for her and xander. So she was my maid of honor. Wow.

Steve: Seems like a lifetime ago, doesn’t it?

Kayla: Right now, it sure does. I wonder what tripp and allie are doing tonight.

Kristen: Hello, lovebirds. Did you enjoy the island chicken?

Lani: How did I have time to get dressed up, make you this amazing dinner, and bake a red velvet cake for dessert?

Eli: Mm-hmm.

Lani: The twins went down early, so I got kinda lucky. Sit, sit. Relax.

Eli: Okay, wait. First, I, um… I have to make a confession.

Lani: What–what confession?

Eli: I lied to you.

Paulina: “I know things aren’t going great between us, but I wanted you to know I’m thinking about you today.”

[Chuckles] Aww. This must be from abraham. Mm-hmm. “Fondly, tr.” Oh, hell no.

Tr: Are you sure the flowers I sent were delivered? Great. Thank you.

[Phone beeps]

[Sighs] I had a feeling this film would change my life. I had no idea just how much. Johnny, my man, I owe you.

Allie: Johnny? Aren’t you going to say something?

Johnny: Like what?

Allie: I don’t know, like maybe “congratulations”? You can’t be a little happy for your twin sister?

Johnny: No, I am. I’m just curious to find out if you told tripp before you accepted his proposal.

Tripp: Told me what?

Johnny: That she slept with my wife.

Tripp: What the hell are you talking about?

Johnny: Ooh, guess you didn’t tell him. Oops. My bad.

[Dramatic music]

Craig: I don’t know what could be holding him up. There’s no message from him.

Chloe: It’s okay, dad. He’s only, like, a few minutes late.

Craig: I’m gonna text him again. There’s probably a ton of traffic at the airport.

Brady: Yeah, that’s probably it.

Chloe: Before he gets here, I just realized I don’t even know what his name is.

Brady: Leo stark.

Craig: How did you know?

Leo: Happy valentine’s day.

Craig: Oh, I’m so glad you finally made it.

Leo: Oh, babe, me too. I missed you so much.

Craig: Mm.

[Kissing]

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

Craig: Mm. Leo, this is my daughter chloe. Chloe, this is–

Chloe: Leo stark.

Craig: Oh. You two know each other.

Chloe: Well, we haven’t officially met, but I’ve heard all about him from brady.

Craig: Oh, and how is it that you two know each other?

Leo: Oh, well, bb and i go way back. In fact, for a hot minute we thought we were brothers. Thank god that wasn’t true, or that kiss we shared would have been all sorts of awkward.

Craig: You kissed?

Brady: Leo kissed me. It wasn’t mutual.

Craig: Right. Well, I’m– I had no idea that you all knew each other. What a small world.

Chloe: So leo never mentioned to you that he once lived in salem?

Craig: No.

Leo: Well, only because craig and I haven’t gotten around to sharing everything about our respective pasts yet. So I hadn’t mentioned yet that I was once a resident of this city. Not that memorable a time, truth be told.

Brady: Not that memorable? Leo, you had so many adventures here.

Craig: Adventures?

[Tense music]

Tripp: You know this is a new low, johnny, even for you. You know, spreading rumors about your own sister?

Johnny: Well, it’s not a rumor, it’s a fact.

Tripp: Oh, the hell it is. Come on, just grow up already. Find something else to do besides making trouble for once, okay?

Johnny: Oh, come on, man. You can’t be that surprised. These two have been lusting after each other for months. They can barely keep their hands off each other.

Tripp: They’ve kissed twice and that was a long time ago.

Johnny: And recently they did a lot more than that. You see, the night that i dumped chanel, allie went over to her place to comfort her, my wife, and ended up in her bed.

Tripp: Allie?

Chanel: Don’t listen to him. Everything he just said is a complete and total lie.

[Tense music]

Tr: Johnny wasn’t lying. This town really is full of surprises.

[Knocking on door] Paulina. I see you got my flowers.

Paulina: [Giggles] Oh, I sure did. And here’s what I think of them.

[Chuckles]

[Glass shatters]

[Dramatic music]

Life’s been hard enough.

Leo: Sweetheart, I’m sorry I neglected to tell you I once lived in this insular little town. I don’t like to talk about it, frankly, because… well, salem holds so many unpleasant memories for me.

Brady: Not to mention the people you’ve terrorized, leo.

Leo: What is that supposed to mean?

Brady: You know, I’m not too comfortable going into this in front of craig.

Craig: No, no, no. Brady, go right ahead.

Chloe: Yeah, brady. Please do.

Brady: Fine. You need to know that he’s responsible for making my family’s life a living hell.

Leo: What? Exaggerate much?

Brady: You know damn well I’m not exaggerating.

Chloe: He’s not, dad. This man tried to bring down brady’s family business with some bogus lawsuit.

Craig: Is that true? Hmm?

Leo: Yes, it’s true, but it is not the whole story, and these two know it. Not to mention that in the end, I was the victim.

Brady: You were the–mm. Were you a victim when you listened in on my personal business calls to try to sell titan secrets to stefan dimera?

Leo: I sure as hell was. You fed me bogus intel. Some people have no scruples.

Brady: Scrupl– craig, you need to know that my brother paul did a deep dive into leo’s past. This man has been involved in scam after scam and it looks like you’re his latest mark.

[Tense music]

Lani: What did you lie about?

Eli: Yesterday I said that i was going to see my grandma and doug. But I went to go see tr.

Lani: Eli.

Eli: Baby, I had to put him on notice. He needed to know that if he– if he messed with you or paulina, he was gonna have to deal with me.

Lani: [Sighs] Babe, I appreciate you looking out for me, but you didn’t have to go all caveman.

Eli: I’m your husband. Baby, it’s my job to protect you.

Lani: So how did tr take it?

Eli: I mean, he– he seemed to get the message. I think he knows that from now on, he’d better treat you and paulina with respect.

Tr: I knew I should have gone with the roses.

Paulina: I thought I made myself clear. I want you to stay away from me and my family.

Tr: I’m sorry I showed up at lani’s unannounced, but once i realized that she was my child, I just couldn’t help myself.

Paulina: Well, then allow me to help you. What you did was unacceptable. Appearing on her doorstep from out of nowhere?

Tr: All right, I know. It was the wrong approach. I know that now. That’s why I sent the flowers, to apologize.

Paulina: There was no apology on the card.

Tr: It was implied.

Paulina: Well, then let me be explicit in my response. Apology not accepted.

Tr: Look, I don’t wanna upset you.

Paulina: Then leave town, ray.

Tr: It’s tr. And I can’t do that, because I’m shooting a film. And I want to get to know my daughter.

Paulina: You know, if you hurt her, I swear…

Tr: You know, with all due respect, paulina, I don’t think I possibly could hurt her any more than you already have.

[Dramatic music]

Tripp: Okay, I’m confused. So you didn’t go over to chanel’s that night?

Chanel: No, she did. I was a wreck that night, obviously, and allie comforted me like the good friend she is. We talked, then she put me to bed and left, end of story. Just like she told you.

Johnny: Now, that’s funny, because that’s a much different story than I heard you two telling in the square yesterday.

Chanel: What are you talking about?

Johnny: I overheard you and allie discussing your night of passion, how you two got down and dirty between the sheets. And I could go into more details, but I think you’ve heard enough to know that I’m telling the truth. I just… I thought you deserved to know before you married allie. And you accused me of being a player.

Chanel: Tripp–

Tripp: I want to talk to allie.

Chanel: Please.

Tripp: Alone.

[Tense music]

Chloe: I’m sorry, daddy, but brady’s right. This man is a con artist.

Leo: Don’t listen to them.

Chloe: He’s just using you.

Leo: What the hell would I be using him for?

Brady: Money. Is it just a coincidence that you fell for a wealthy doctor? I fell for craig because he is brilliant and charming and wickedly funny.

Craig: This is very uncomfortable to take in right now.

Leo: Even more so for me. But craig, you are the only one here whose opinion matters to me. I’m sorry I wasn’t more forthcoming. I didn’t want to scare you off. But I am not like that anymore. And that’s because of you. I wanna be a better person because of you. You believe me, don’t you?

Craig: [Sighs] It’s just–gotta take this in.

Brady: I’m afraid there’s a lot more to take in. A couple months ago, leo was involved in a major scam in arizona. He double-crossed the isa to get his hands on a stolen gemstone.

Leo: Okay, that’s true. But right after that, I met this wonderful man who cares for me more than anyone has in my entire life. And that’s why everything has changed.

[Tense music]

Lani: So what did you think of tr? I mean, do you think that he’s a changed man?

Eli: It’s tough to tell. I mean, I was only with him for a few minutes.

Lani: Kay, well, what does your gut say?

Eli: That, understandably, you have a lot of complicated feelings about your biological father. But… right now, I think that we should focus on us.

Lani: Your instincts are excellent, detective grant.

Eli: Then I’d like to propose a toast. To my incredible wife, who not only worked a full shift today, but managed to get the kids down early and prepare this wonderful meal.

Lani: [Chuckles]

Eli: Baby, I am in awe of everything you do.

Lani: Mm.

Eli: And by how beautiful you look doing it. Happy valentine’s day.

[Glasses clink]

Lani: Happy valentine’s day.

Eli: I have an idea.

Lani: What?

Eli: All right.

[Phone beeps]

Lani: [Laughs]

Lani: You certainly may.

Paulina: May I remind you that the only reason I lied about being lani’s mother was to protect her from you? It kills me that I hurt her by keeping that a secret.

Tr: I was talking about price town.

Paulina: How do you know about that?

Tr: I did some research. I wanted to learn some more about my daughter, and I came across your plan to bulldoze the horton town square, which is a tribute to her husband’s family.

Paulina: For your information, I realized I made a huge mistake and I just called off the entire project. I also apologized to each and every person I hurt.

Tr: And they forgave you? Even lani?

Paulina: Even lani.

Tr: Hmm. That’s wonderful. Gives me hope.

Paulina: About what?

Tr: That if our daughter could forgive you for such a huge betrayal… maybe you can do the same for me.

Chanel: What the hell is wrong with you? How could you do that to your sister?

Johnny: All I did was tell the truth.

Chanel: It wasn’t how you made it sound, like we’ve been having some torrid affair.

Johnny: Weren’t you?

Chanel: No. I was a mess that night because of what you did to me. Allie and I just– we just got caught up in the emotion.

Johnny: Oh, so it was the sweet kind of cheating, not the sleazy kind. Well, I’m sure in that case tripp will totally understand.

Tripp: You were pretty quiet before. Kind of let chanel do all the talking.

Allie: I–I didn’t know what to say.

Tripp: How about the truth? Don’t you think you owe me that? Allie, just talk to me, okay? Chanel said johnny was lying. Was he? Please just– just be honest with me. Was johnny lying?

[Tense music]

Allie: No. He wasn’t lying. I did sleep with chanel.

[ Mid-tempo music playing ]

Tripp: I called you that night, and you said you were going home.

Allie: I was, but chanel was a mess and I couldn’t leave her alone.

Tripp: So the only way to make her feel better was to have sex with her?

Allie: We were lying in bed and it just happened.

Tripp: The next morning i called you again and you told me you were home. I wanted to come see you before work, but you said you were on your way out… to go check on chanel. But you were already with her, weren’t you?

Allie: Yeah, I spent the night. But I woke up and I felt so horrible. I felt so guilty. I hated lying to you. I wanted to come clean.

Tripp: But you didn’T.

Allie: I went to the hospital and I saw you and I was going to tell you, but I–I just– I didn’t want to hurt you.

Tripp: Then maybe you shouldn’t have slept with chanel!

Allie: Tripp, I love you, okay? I love you so much. It was a mistake.

Tripp: Yeah, right.

Allie: No. No, I wouldn’t have said yes to your proposal if I didn’t love you, okay? You, you are the one I wanna be with. You’re the one I wanna marry.

Tripp: Are you kidding me? I mean, you don’t seriously think that we’re still getting married?

Chanel: If you knew that me and allie hooked up, why didn’t you say anything earlier?

Johnny: What do you mean?

Chanel: Instead of telling me what you overheard, you gave me this big speech about how we could still be friends even though we were going through the divorce. Why would you do that?

Johnny: Well, I guess I just got caught up in the spirit of valentine’s day.

Chanel: So you pretended that you wanted to get along with me and then we bump into allie and tripp and you just blow everything up?

Johnny: Look, I saw that poor sap about to make the biggest mistake of his life. I had to do something. I mean, I do know what it’s like to suddenly realize you married the wrong person.

Chanel: Oh, did you ever. Because I am going to take you for everything that you’re worth.

Johnny: Is that right?

Chanel: Si, giovanni. By the time I’m finished with you, you are going to wish you’d never been born.

Paulina: Let’s get something straight. I planned to tear down a beloved landmark. You? You abused me physically and emotionally for years! Now, they are not the same. Do you understand that?

Tr: Yes, I do.

Paulina: Well, then don’t compare my betrayals to yours. I may have been deceptive, but you were a monster.

Tr: You’re right. There’s no comparison. What I did was reprehensible. And I truly am ashamed. The drugs, the drinking, they turned me into somebody that even I didn’t recognize. I was on a downward spiral. I didn’t even know it. And after you disappeared, it got worse. I ended up in prison.

Paulina: For what?

Tr: [Chuckles] I started using my clients’ money to buy drugs. Once I got caught, my whole life fell apart.

Paulina: So I’m supposed to, what, feel sorry for you?

Tr: [Laughs] No. Because that’s when I finally realized that I needed to turn my life around. You see, hitting rock bottom is the best thing that ever happened to me.

Leo: After that little caper with the stolen peacock, my life took a nosedive. I was lonely, depressed, and forced into taking this thankless job handing out swag at medical conventions. As luck would have it… craig came over to my booth and inquired about my nuts.

Chloe: I’m sorry, what?

Leo: Oh, relax, would you? Your daughter did not inherit your sense of humor. Anyway, I was dressed up as a chipmunk handing out free nuts. You know, because they’re good for you. High in vitamins, minerals, good monounsaturated fats, which can help lower cholesterol. Anyway, we had a couple of laughs and I felt this immediate strong connection, like I had finally found my soulmate. You felt that too, didn’t you, craig?

Craig: Yeah. We did have a connection. He did make me laugh.

Leo: [Laughs] And, look, even though your dad was honest with me from the get-go, told me he had a wife, it was clear to me– and eventually to him– that his marriage was a lie. He was denying who he really was.

Chloe: Oh, so you coerced him into cheating on my mother?

Craig: Chloe, there was no coercion here whatsoever. Look… as completely thrown as this conversation has me, all I wanted was for you two to meet each other. And now I see that was not a good idea and it’s not working out, so my apologies to all of you.

Chloe: No. Dad, it’s not your fault.

Leo: May I just add something?

Craig: Sure.

Leo: Chloe, I understand your skepticism of me given my track record, and I know that you and your father have a very close and loving relationship.

Chloe: Yeah, we do.

Leo: Well, you’re very fortunate. My father was an abusive pig. He used to tell me that I was worthless and that I would never mean anything to anyone. And when you hear that over and over again, it creates a hole in your heart. So I tried to fill that with fancy things to– to make the pain go away. But it didn’T. And nothing made it go away… until I met your father. Finally, I was happy for the first time in my life. And not a day goes by, not a moment goes by that I don’t appreciate how lucky I am.

[Jazzy music]

Your mission:

Brady: Okay, look, I’ve heard enough. Craig, you need to be wary of this man because he’s a predator.

Leo: Hey, that is an unfair and cruel accusation.

Brady: It’s not unfair and cruel when it’s totally verifiable and true. I haven’t even gotten into what he did to my cousin sonny. It’s a whole thing there.

Leo: Okay, look, look. How about you two go and rake me over the coals somewhere else? It’s valentine’s day, for god’s sake. Craig and I would like to celebrate, to be left alone, not to hear some angry, self-righteous people distort the truth and tell us why we shouldn’t be together.

Brady: Craig, I’m telling you this because I care about you, okay?

Craig: [Sighs] Right, okay. Right. Look, um… I think leo’s right. I think it’s time that this conversation ends. You two should leave and we will talk about this later. Okay, chloe?

Chloe: We don’t want you to get hurt, dad. That’s what this is all about. How can you not know that?

Leo: Please don’t listen to them, craig. What I feel for you is real. This is not a con or a scheme or a ploy. I have left all of that behind me. Because like I said, for the first time in my life, I am honestly, truly happy. Because of you.

Chloe: Dad. He is playing you. You need to wake up and do the right thing. You need to end this farce of a relationship.

Tripp: You don’t honestly think that I’d still marry you after you cheated on me.

Allie: We can work through this. I will do whatever it takes to make this right.

Tripp: You must think I’m the world’s biggest chump, don’t you? And maybe that’s my fault. Maybe I let you think that you could just walk all over me, I wouldn’t care.

Allie: No.

Chloe: [Chuckles] Uh, you brought me a rose.

Brady: Yeah.

Chloe: You know this– this isn’t, like, a–

Brady: Chloe, chloe, relax. There was a kid selling them out on the street, and he was trying to raise money for his school band.

Chloe: Oh, okay. Well, thank you for being so sweet, for supporting the arts, and thank you for joining me here tonight. I really appreciate it.

Brady: Of course. I’m here to support you. Happy to lend a hand. So how are you doing?

Chloe: Mm, you mean how do i feel about meeting my dad’s new boyfriend?

[Sighs] I’m a nervous wreck.

[Exhales sharply]

Craig: Well, don’t you have a romantic setup going here.

Tripp: [Chuckles] Thank you.

Craig: Looks like you’ve got some big plans for valentine’s day.

Tripp: You could say that. Uh, I’m planning to propose to my girlfriend.

Chanel: So horton…

Allie: So dupree…

Chanel: What are you gonna do?

Allie: I don’t know. I’m not even supposed to know that tripp is proposing to me tonight. His mom spoiled the surprise.

Chanel: Okay, but now you do know, so you should probably figure out an answer for when he asks you to marry him. So are you gonna say yes?

Ben: I mean, johnny was the one who delivered the cross.

Ciara: Mm-hmm, a cross that keeps turning itself upside down every time we try to hang it.

Ben: Which is troubling.

Ciara: Yes, and johnny was at marlena’s exorcism.

Ben: He was.

Ciara: And honestly, ben, I’ve got to say, he’s been acting pretty strangely.

Ben: So what are you suggesting, ciara?

[Scoffs] That the devil just jumped from marlena to her grandson? Do we really think johnny dimera is possessed?

Johnny: Well, you know what they say, “pride goeth before the fall.”

Gabi: Is that what they say?

Johnny: Well, some people say that. I prefer, “we need to screw jake before he screws us.” And speaking of screwing, do you have any valentine’s day plans?

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

Allie: [Sighs] I am still trying to process this.

Chanel: You know what, i shouldn’t have asked you. Tripp’s the one proposing. He should be the first one to hear your answer, not me.

Allie: No, no, you deserve to know. You’re my best friend. And you’ve been with me through this entire relationship. Honestly, the truth is, I–I’m just so caught off guard. I mean, tripp and I never even talked about getting married.

Chanel: Well, it is valentine’s day.

Allie: Yeah, and I know a lot of people get engaged on valentine’s day, but I did not think it was my time.

Chanel: So were you thinking you might say no?

Allie: I’m just not sure. What do you think? Am I ready?

Craig: Proposing to your girlfriend. Wow, this–this is a big night. Yeah, the way I see it, it can go either spectacularly right or spectacularly wrong.

[Chuckles] I remember that feeling. Proposing to my wife, getting ready. Mind you, it was 30 years ago. And I’m pretty sure she was gonna say yes, but still, there’s that moment that you know you’re gonna remember forever, and well, those words, they just–they wouldn’t come out.

[Chuckles] Am I making this harder on you?

Tripp: A little bit, but that’s okay. I mean, you–you somehow managed, right?

Craig: Yes, yes, and she said yes, so there’s that.

Tripp: And you’ve been together for 30 years? That’s something to be proud of.

Craig: Actually, my wife and I are in the process of splitting up.

Tripp: Oh, I’m sorry to hear that.

Craig: It’s been a very difficult situation.

Tripp: I can imagine.

Craig: I don’t know, maybe. See, truth is, tonight– tonight, my daughter is supposed to meet my boyfriend, and I’m telling you, I’m just a nervous wreck about it!

[Chuckles]

[Sighs]

Brady: I understand that you’re nervous about tonight, but your dad has to know that this is awkward for you. So don’t–don’t put any pressure on yourself. You’re allowed to feel however you need to feel about this, and your dad is just gonna have to deal with it.

Chloe: Yeah, but what if i don’t like the guy? Or even worse, what if I do like him?

Brady: If you do like him? How is that even worse?

Chloe: I don’t know. I–I guess I’d just feel like I’d be betraying my mom.

Brady: There’s nothing wrong with you wanting both of your parents to be happy, chloe. What is nancy doing tonight?

Chloe: Well, I left her in the hotel room, where’s she’s watching old movies on peacock and acting very depressed. At least I persuaded her to order some room service before I left.

Brady: [Sighs] She’s tough. She’s gonna get through this.

Chloe: Yeah, I know, but it’s gonna–it’s gonna take time.

Brady: Does she know about this dinner?

Chloe: No; I mean, I kind of wanted to tell her, but what was I gonna say? “Hey, mom, instead of staying here and eating cheeseburgers with you and watching sappy movies, I’ve got to meet dad’s new boyfriend. Bye.”

[Sighs]

Johnny: So, what do you say? You want to go upstairs? Jake shouldn’t be the only one closing deals.

Gabi: [Chuckles] Until our other deal goes through, I think we should keep our mind on business.

Johnny: Oh, I’m very good at multitasking.

Gabi: I’m sure you are, but I prefer to stay focused on dimera and titan.

Johnny: Come on. It’s valentine’s day. We’re off the clock. Neither one of us is with someone we love.

Gabi: So we should love the one we’re with?

Johnny: Who said anything about love?

Gabi: Oh, so just meaningless sex.

Johnny: First of all, sex with me is far from meaningless.

Gabi: Oh, really?

Johnny: Your boyfriend is plotting against you. My soon-to-be ex-wife is trying to clean me out. We both deserve to have a little fun.

Ben: So the devil is in johnny?

Ciara: Look, I know it sounds crazy, but we did hear my grandmother say that satan possessed my grandfather before he jumped into marlena. So what if maybe at the exorcism, the devil just wanted us to think that he was gone?

Ben: But instead found a new host body? This is unbelievable, ciara.

Ciara: I mean, is it any more unbelievable than anything else we’ve ever been through?

Ben: I guess not. It would explain why that cross kept flipping upside down. It’s because johnny’s the one who delivered it.

Ciara: And it makes sense. Grandma julie bought that to protect us.

Ben: And we know the devil would do anything to break through that protection.

Ciara: So johnny shows up at my grandma’s house, sees the cross, and then, all of a sudden, this big fire bursts out out of nowhere, stopping my grandma from delivering it.

Ben: And leaves him with the prime opportunity to deliver the cross himself.

Ciara: And make sure that our brand-new home has the mark of the devil.

Ben: If johnny really has been the devil this entire time, who knows what kind of damage he’s already done? We’d have to retrace all of his steps since the exorcism and get in contact with everybody who he’s talked to.

Ciara: Oh, slow down, babe. Um, this is still just a theory.

Ben: Okay, so this is just a theory now? You’re not sure.

Ciara: Well, no, I– it’s just once you have come face-to-face with the devil, maybe it easy to see him everywhere else.

Ben: Still, the more I think about it, it just makes more sense.

Ciara: All right, so let’s think. Do we have any more evidence?

Ben: When jake was here, he was explaining to me about this big party they had for johnny and chanel’s wedding.

Ciara: Mm-hmm. Right, I heard about that. He broke up with chanel during that, didn’t he?

Ben: Yeah, in a room full of people. It was like the guy intentionally set out to, like, cause this big scene and humiliate her.

Ciara: Yeah, that’s really weird. Why would he do it publicly?

Ben: Well, according to jake, johnny’s been hitting on gabi now.

Ciara: Which makes him a player and a garbage human being, but that doesn’t necessarily prove that he is the devil.

Ben: Right, but it’s still giving jake bad vibes about this guy.

Ciara: Again, doesn’t exactly provide proof of demonic possession. And not to play devil’s advocate here, but…

Ben: Ha.

> Ciara: I don’t know, maybe jake has a bad vibe because he’s the jealous boyfriend.

Jake: Hey, hey, maggie.

Maggie: Jake, what are you doing here?

Jake: Oh, henderson let me in. I came to see what’s going on.

Maggie: Okay?

Jake: Got your message.

Maggie: What message?

Jake: Maggie, you sent me a message a little bit ago? Said it was urgent?

Maggie: I never texted you. I haven’t seen my phone since I misplaced it yesterday.

Jake: What? You didn’t send me a text.

Maggie: It wasn’t me. But listen, since you’re here, I spoke to victor regarding what we talked about.

Jake: Sorry, what was that?

Maggie: I was talking about victor. I relayed the terms of our agreement, and he had some questions

Jake: I’m gonna have to get back to you on that. I got to go look into something.

Johnny: [Sighs] Look, I know this hasn’t been easy on you. You put your faith in jake, and he let you down. He made you think that he loved you. He lied to your face. And now, he’s off double-dealing again with maggie? I can only imagine how disappointing that must be for you, but I promise that I won’t disappoint you. In business. Or anywhere. So what do you say? Why don’t we go upstairs and make this a valentine’s day to remember?

Gabi: I’m sorry. I can’T.

Johnny: Can’t or won’t?

Gabi: I’m–I’m just not ready to go that far yet.

Johnny: “Yet”? But you’re not ruling it out?

Gabi: Let’s just see how this meeting goes.

Johnny: Are you really gonna leave me here all by myself?

Gabi: I’m sure you’ll be just fine. I want to go home, and I want to prepare for the meeting. And aren’t you still married?

[Sighs]

Johnny: I don’t like being rejected. And I don’t like being left alone. What’s a horny devil to do with himself?

Craig: Truth is, I–

[Sighs] I never expected to be in this situation. For the longest time, I convinced myself and my wife that, well, we had a great marriage. Truth is, she’s very angry at me now, needless to say, and my daughter completely blindsided.

Tripp: She’s willing to meet your boyfriend.

Craig: Yeah, yeah. Uh, she agreed. I was thinking maybe it’s unfair that I asked her, and– maybe I should just text her, tell her I’ve got food poisoning, and call off the whole thing.

Tripp: Maybe not the best idea.

Craig: Yeah. Postponing the inevitable.

Tripp: Yeah.

Craig: [Chuckles] I–I have no idea why I’m confiding in you like this. I’m sorry, it’s just, uh– pretty nervous about tonight and the whole situation and needed to talk to someone. And you’re very kind. I appreciate that, but I should really let you get back to your plans.

Tripp: That’s–it’s okay. You’re going through a lot, so I understand the need to– you know, wanting to share that with someone.

Craig: Thank you. Thank you, but again, you need to practice. You’re in a good mood. Stay in that good mood and practice what you’re gonna do.

Tripp: I mean, there’s not too many ways you can, right? I mean, you know, “will you marry me?” You know, the only way to say it.

Craig: Yeah, man, it’s– it’s the way to go. Let me give you some advice that I’ve been giving myself. Um, if you’re feeling nervous, it’s worth doing. Good luck.

Chanel: You know, I’m probably not the best person to giving advice on marriage considering how mine have worked out…

Allie: Did you have doubts when we asked you?

Chanel: That’s the thing, I didn’T. I mean, yeah, I was surprised, but I think I said yes before he even finished asking the question.

Allie: Because he was convincing.

Chanel: Because it felt right.

[Phone beeps] Is it from tripp?

Allie: Uh-huh. He wants me to meet him. My god, is this it?

Chanel: It looks like you have a question to answer.

Allie: Yeah.

Chanel: Horton, no matter what you decide, you know I love you.

Gabi: Hey. What did maggie want?

Jake: Actually, she didn’t want anything.

Gabi: I thought she said it was urgent.

Jake: Apparently, maggie never sent that text.

Gabi: What are you talking about? I saw the text myself.

Jake: I–we both saw it. Maggie claims she lost her phone, hasn’t seen it since yesterday.

Gabi: That makes no sense.

Jake: No, it doesn’T. Unless it does.

Gabi: What do you think is going on?

Jake: I think that little punk johnny dimera stole her phone and sent me that message.

Johnny: Happy valentine’s day.

Chanel: What’s so happy about it?

Johnny: Well, I’m sure we can figure something out. Wanna grab a drink? You wanna grab a drink with the woman you just dumped on valentine’s day?

Johnny: Look, you’re still upset, I get it.

Chanel: Oh, I’m so glad you get it.

Johnny: You have every right to be angry with the way that I treated you, but we had fun together, didn’t we?

Chanel: I don’t remember.

Johnny: I do. I always loved being with you. Just ’cause we’re getting divorced doesn’t mean the fun has to stop.

Chloe: Ah, salty.

Brady: Yeah. You know, what if–why don’t you take it easy on the nuts? Okay, you don’t wanna choke to death before you meet your dad’s new man.

Chloe: My dad’s new man. That’s gonna take some time getting used to.

Brady: Drink.

Brady: It’s fine. It beats last year, remember? I spent valentine’s day in the hospital, recovering from a gunshot wound. This is better.

Chloe: How could I forget? I almost lost you.

Brady: Seriously, all I can think about is the disasters with that. Vienna–vienna, remember? I couldn’t get reservations anywhere in that whole place?

Chloe: Yeah, ’cause you waited till last minute.

Brady: Well, who would’ve thought valentine’s day was a big deal in austria? Come on.

Chloe: Vienna is one of the most romantic cities in the world.

Brady: I knew that. I mean, I know that now.

Chloe: Ah. We made it work, though, didn’t we?

Chloe: Remember that outdoor café we found with that little string quartet?

Brady: Yeah. It was freezing.

Chloe: [Laughs] I know, but I remember you took my hand, and we waltzed on the sidewalk.

Brady: And I remember that sidewalk because it was snowing, an wd itas so slippery that the two of us almost fell on our asses.

Chloe: [Laughs] Okay, so maybe it wasn’t the smoothest waltz, but I do remember that we laughed so hard that we just kind of slowly sank to the ground.

Gabi: You think johnny was pretending to be maggie? Why-why would he do that?

Jake: Who knows what goes on in that kid’s head? Maybe he wanted some alone time with you.

Gabi: So he broke into the kiriakis mansion and stole maggie’s phone? I mean, that’s a pretty elaborate scheme, knowing you’d just–you’d figure it out as soon as you got there.

Jake: Yeah, I admit, it’s, uh, doesn’t make much sense.

Gabi: At least you admit it.

Jake: [Scoffs] You have any other theories, detective benson?

Gabi: The other theory is, you’re lying.

Jake: [Scoffs] What?

Gabi: I know you have no reason to lie to me, so we can take that out of the equation.

Jake: No, I don’t have any reason to lie to you. Now, johnny, on the other hand– think about it. We have a strong bond, right? He’s on the outside, so it would benefit him to shake things up a little bit.

Gabi: I still don’t know what he’d gain by having you go over to see maggie.

Gabi: I know you don’T. I know you don’t, but look. We don’t have to be partners for life with johnny. We just have to trust him long enough for him to call this meeting. Jake: Of course. I mean, but what I really want right now is for us to stop talking business.

Ciara: Jake thinks that johnny is trying to take gabi away from him; that doesn’t necessarily make him the most credible observer.

Ben: Right, but you have to admit, these are still red flags, ciara.

Ciara: Yeah, definitely. And if there is a chance that the devil is still in salem, we need to know about it.

Ben: Yeah, and fast.

Ciara: Oh, my god. Ben, I thought this was over. I really did–I thought that you and I were gonna be safe. I thought that our baby was gonna be safe, but–

Ben: Hey. I am not going to let anything happen to our baby, I promise you. You know I would do everything in my power to protect you both.

Ciara: But johnny is marlena’s grandson.

Ben: Yeah, and I understand that, and this woman has already gone through enough; the last thing I wanna do is cause her any more pain, but…

Ciara: Which, accusing her grandson her grandson of being the devil will definitely do. There has to be a way that we figure all of this out without getting her involved.

Ben: Hmm. Well, I can’t say I’m thrilled with this solution, but what if we talked to susan banks?

Tripp: [Sighs] Not bad.

Allie: Wow.

Tripp: Allie.

Allie: You did all this for me?

Tripp: You? No. No, no, no, I just needed to make a couple extra bucks, so I started an event planning business.

Allie: Oh, okay. Well, um, your clients are going to be very impressed.

Tripp: Yeah? Even though we’re outdoors in much colder weather than I was expecting?

Allie: It’s a beautiful night. I think it’s perfect to be out under the stars.

Tripp: I just thought it’d be a little more private than some restaurant.

Allie: Definitely, and– and this would make any girl feel special. It’s beautiful.

Tripp: So is my inspiration.

Allie: Thank you. What?

Tripp: Uh, look, um. I was planning on waiting to do this after our meal when we were, you know, gazing into each other’s eyes over dessert, but now that I have you here… I realize there’s no way I can wait that long, so… I’m just–I’m just gonna, uh…

Allie: Oh.

Tripp: [Laughs] Allie, I’ve never been happier than I am when I’m with you. We both came out of the darkest periods of our lives, and we pulled each other back out into the world. You gave me a life. You gave me hope. And I wanna spend the rest of our days trying to make you as happy as you’ve made me. I want to be your husband. I wanna be henry’s father. I want us to be a family. So… allie horton… will you marry me?

Allie: Yes.

Tripp: Yes?

Allie: Yes, tripp, I’ll marry you.

[Both laugh]

[Heartfelt music]

Chanel: My mom says that I should stay away from you and let the lawyers handle this.

Johnny: Mm, is that what you want? Turn our lives into some messy court battle?

Chanel: No!

Johnny: Then–what? Why don’t we just go someplace, sit down, figure it out, just the two of us. We can go back to your place. Or mine.

Chanel: Hell no.

Johnny: What’s wrong with my place?

Chanel: Everything! I’m never going back there again, johnny. If we are going to talk, we have to do it someplace a bit more private than in the middle of the square.

Johnny: There’s– there’s no one here now.

Chanel: Okay, but that could change at any minute, and it could get busy, so… follow me.

Jake: What’s wrong?

Gabi: Nothing, I’m just a little distracted.

Jake: By?

Gabi: I told you, I wanted to check on my brother.

Jake: [Sighs] Right, and then johnny interrupted you.

Gabi: Yeah, I never found out what happened in court. I wanna see how the first day of, uh, the trial went for rafe.

Jake: Of course.

Gabi: [Sighs] Oh, my god.

Jake: What is it?

Gabi: Nothing good. Not only did rafe’s accuser testify, but apparently, trask caught nicole trying to tamper with the witness.

Craig: I’m glad you invited brady, I–I know how close the two of you are, and, well, I understand how difficult it might be for you to meet the new man in my life.

Chloe: Yeah, I have to admit I’m a bit nervous about it. And I-I thought that brady being here, you know, he’d keep me from saying or doing something I shouldn’T.

Craig: Well, to be quite honest, I’ve been a little nervous myself. And then I started to think about it, and I went, “you don’t have anything to worry about,” because this guy that I’m seeing,” I mean, I gotta tell you, he is gonna put us all at ease. He’s funny, he’s–he’s got this gift of finding the humor in every situation, even if it’s a difficult one.

Chloe: Mm, funny– funny is good.

Craig: Yeah. He’s kind–he’s very kind. And I’m sure he is gonna love the both of you as you’re gonna love him. Life’s been hard enough.

Gabi: This is bad. This is really bad.

Jake: Hey, hey, gabi, look. It’s just the first day of the trial, all right? Prosecutor has done her job, it looks bad for the defense before they get their turn. It’s gonna be okay.

Gabi: I’m sorry, I-I cannot do this right now.

Jake: Right now or ever, apparently.

Gabi: What is that supposed to mean?

Jake: It’s valentine’s day, gabi–you’ve been acting weird all day.

Gabi: No, I haven’T.

Jake: You have. You have–I-I covered the bed in rose petals, I brought you chocolates.

Gabi: That I was allergic to.

Jake: I didn’t know about, okay? And more importantly, you’ve been acting all day like you don’t care about me, unless you’re being openly hostile, so what’s going on?

Gabi: You have to ask?

Jake: Yeah, I do.

Gabi: My brother is on trial for his life.

Jake: You sure that’s what this is about?

Gabi: What else would it be?

Jake: I don’t know, gabi, but it seems personal. We okay?

Gabi: We’re great. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to find some answers.

[Apprehensive music]

Ciara: What does susan banks know about johnny being possessed?

Ben: She seems to kind of have a sixth sense for this kind of thing. She was the one that warned us about the devil in the first place.

Ciara: Yeah, and she did have the premonition about how the devil was after her baby.

Ben: Exactly, and she recognized that dr. Evans was possessed before anybody else.

Ciara: Right, so if the devil is still in salem…

Ben: She is the one who would be able to sense it.

Ciara: You might be right. However, there’s only one issue with that.

Ben: What’s that?

Ciara: Johnny is her grandson, and she would do anything to protect him. I don’t know how happy she’s gonna be, getting a phone call from us, accusing her grandbaby of being the devil.

Tripp: Hmm. Mmm, that is really good.

Allie: Told you.

Tripp: You know, I feel like everything just tastes a little better when it’s being fed to you by your fiancéE.

Allie: You just wanted to say that word, didn’t you?

Tripp: Well, that’s what you are–my fiancéE. And pretty soon, my wife.

Chanel: Horton, tripp. I’m so sorry, I didn’t know you guys were here.

Johnny: Oops.

Chanel: Um, come on. Let’s go somewhere else.

Allie: Wait, um, dupree, what are you doing with him?

Johnny: Well, hello to you, too, sis.

Chanel: No, it’s-it’s cool. Johnny just wanted to talk about the divorce.

Johnny: But this looks romantic. What do you two have going on out here?

Gabi: Um, excuse me– can someone, um, help. Thank you for all your help.

[Apprehensive music]

Jake: Happy valentine’s day.

Gabi: This doesn’t make sense, jake. How could you betray me like this?

Craig: I-I don’t know what is holding him up. There’s no texts, no messages.

Chloe: Dad, it’s okay. He’s only, like, a few minutes late.

Craig: Well, I-I’m gonna text him again. He’s probably got a lot of traffic.

Brady: Yeah, that’s probably it.

Chloe: Well, when he does get here, I just realized, I don’t even know his name.

Brady: Leo stark.

Craig: Uh–how did you know?

Leo: Happy valentine’s day.

Craig: Hi!

[Laughs]

Ciara: Babe, I still don’t know if calling susan is such a good idea. I mean, what if we tell her about johnny, and then she warns him?

Ben: Well, ciara, we have to just hope she does the right thing. Unless you have a better idea– I’m all ears.

Ciara: Fine, make the call.

Ben: Yeah?

Ciara: What are you even gonna say to her? Like, “hey, susan, hi, what’s up? How you doing? Is your grandson possessed?” It’s kinda weird.

[Line trilling]

[Machine beeps]

Ben: Hey, susan. It’s ben weston. Uh, give me a call back when you get this. There’s just something I need talk to you about, and it’s pretty important. Thank you. Pretty important? God, I just panicked. That was so stupid.

Ciara: No, it– that’s all right. She’s probably out with roger for valentine’s day anyway.

Ben: Yeah. So we may not get any answers tonight anyway, right?

Ciara: I guess we will just have to wait.

Ben: I guess so.

Ciara: Let’s really hope that we are just jumping to some crazy conclusion and that the devil is out of salem for good.

Ben: Ciara, if we’re not, and he is here, and he’s after our baby, we’re gonna get through it. We’re gonna deal with it. ‘Cause we’re together.

Allie: Guess what? Tripp proposed!

Chanel: Did he?

Tripp: And allie said yes.

Chanel: Oh, well–wow! That’s, uh–congratulations. I-I’m really happy for you two. I–I just meant between my divorce and this movie, and– I really need to get away from johnny. But I promise you that this isn’t about us sleeping together.

Allie: Johnny? Aren’t you going to say something?

Johnny: Like what?

Allie: I don’t know, like maybe congratulations? You can’t be a little happy for your twin sister?

Johnny: No, I am, I– I’m just curious to find out if you told tripp before you accepted his proposal.

Tripp: Told me what?

Johnny: That she slept with my wife.

Ben: Ugh.

Ciara: Little bit more.

Ben: Uh. You know, here I was thinking that when we got done with this, maybe we’d actually be able to celebrate valentine’s day. But at this rate, I guess we could just do that tomorrow.

Ciara: Okay, you know what?

Ben: What?

Ciara: I think the painting is perfect.

Ben: Oh, good.

Ciara: Just like you.

[Sentimental music]

Nicole: Ms. Vitali, as always, did a pretty good job of covering her tracks. But not good enough to get past me. She’s going down, mr. Hutchins. So you can either cut a deal and testify against her, or she’s gonna take you down with her because that’s the kind of person she is. So are you gonna walk in that courtroom and perjure yourself? Or are you gonna take advantage of your last chance to save yourself and admit that ava vitali put you up to this?

Ava: I hope you believe me, allie.

Allie: I know you wouldn’t swear on tripp’s life if you didn’t mean it.

Ava: Absolutely not. I love him with all of my heart. As I know you do. And for tripp’s sake, I just– I can’t have you thinking badly of me, especially not tonight, when he’s about to–

Allie: About to what?

Ava: Nothing. No, I shouldn’t– I shouldn’t have said anything.

Allie: Ava, should I be worried about tripp?

Ava: No. No, no, no, no. It’s a good thing. At least I hope you think so.

Allie: Oh, my god. Is tripp going to propose?

Chanel: Are you really proposing tonight?

Tripp: I’ve been wanting to do it for a while, but it’d take me, like, six years to afford a decent ring at my salary.

Chanel: That ring looks a lot more than decent.

Tripp: It was my great-grandmother’S. And it seems like allie’s style, but I’m not sure.

Chanel: Oh, tripp. It’s gorgeous. Allie’s gonna love it.

Tripp: Thanks. I really want it to be special. She deserves that. I just–I’ve never met anyone like her. Not only is she beautiful, but she’s funny, honest. I’m telling you what you already know.

Chanel: Yeah. I hope that didn’t sound like i was rubbing it in, though, after everything you’ve been through with johnny.

Chanel: No, no. I–I know how much you love allie. And it’s not your fault her brother was an ass. Allie did keep warning me about him.

Tripp: Yeah, but I think even allie underestimated how big of an ass he is. I mean, not only did he just treat you like crap, but, I mean, after what happened between you and allie…

Chanel: What happened between me and allie was that… we kissed a couple of times a long time ago. And since then, she has made it totally clear that you’re the one she loves. And johnny’s the one I… the one I thought I loved.

Johnny: It’s true. I might want to be the ceo of dimera one day, but gabi has convinced me that you’re the right man for the job– in this moment. She can be very persuasive, you know.

Jake: I do know that.

Gabi: I told johnny that you’ve done this job before, so you could be up to speed day one. Also that shin has always been on your side.

Johnny: And besides, I’m so busy with this movie, I don’t have time for another job. Tell you to truth, I kinda wish my producer wasn’t holding me to my contract.

Jake: Hmm, that’s funny, johnny, I thought you were dying to do this movie.

Johnny: Yeah. But I’m just feeling like I’M… in a deal with the devil to tell the devil’s story.

Julie: Perhaps it’s coincidence. But the devil did come to salem to claim your unborn baby. So doug and I got the cross– the one thing that we thought would protect our new great-grandchild.

Ben: Have some water.

Julie: Thank you.

Ciara: Grandma, it’s okay. We can fix it. We will try again and again and again.

Julie: Sweetheart, I know you think I’m overreacting, that I’m just a superstitious old woman. But let me tell you, the last time I saw an upside-down cross, the devil was standing in the middle of my living room.

Ben: And that was horrible, but marlena is not possessed by the devil anymore.

Ciara: Yeah. The exorcism worked, and the entire family was there to witness it.

Julie: Good. I know when the devil passed from doug to marlena… now it’s passed out of marlena. How do we know the devil has left salem?

[Eerie music]

Ahh it’s the birthday girl!

Nicole: I’ve covered a lot of cases like this. Now, I’m not telling you what to do, but I do think it’s wise to take the exit ramp while you still have the chance.

Hutchins: The last time a former associate of ms. Vitali crossed her, he wound up dead with a steak knife in his chest.

Nicole: Are you saying you’re a former associate of ms. Vitali?

Hutchins: I never said that.

Melinda: Mr. Hutchins, there’s been a change in the schedule. What the hell is going on here?

[Tense music]

Ava: [Chuckles] That’s quite a leap there, allie.

Allie: Is it? Because I ran into tripp the other day with my grandfather at the pub, and they said they were talking about uncle steve and aunt kayla, but… tripp is so old fashioned, I bet he was asking for my hand in marriage because my parents aren’t around.

Ava: Okay, now that’s an even bigger leap.

Allie: But is it true?

Ava: Okay, I’m not gonna lie to you. Yeah, it is.

Allie: Oh, my god.

Ava: Okay, now please, please do not say anything to tripp, because he is so excited and I cannot be the one who ruined it for him. It would just kill me if you said no because of me.

Tripp: Thank you for being happy for us.

Chanel: Of course I’m happy. Horton’s just about my favorite person in the world, and… I guess I’m gonna have to get used to calling her johnson now.

Tripp: Doesn’t have quite the same ring to it. But speaking of rings, I was thinking about putting it at the bottom of her champagne glass.

Chanel: Well, I mean, if she happens to swallow it, you’re a doctor, so you can do that heimlich thing on her.

Tripp: You think it’s cheesy, don’t you?

Chanel: No, it’s not that. It’s just, um… you know, horton’s not really a big fan of champagne.

Tripp: That’s right. She likes cosmos. But I’ve never made a cosmo before in my life.

Chanel: I got you. I will write down the recipe for you.

Tripp: Oh, thank you.

Chanel: I know just how she likes it.

[Sentimental music]

Johnny: So we all on the same page?

Jake: Yeah. I say we strike while the iron’s hot.

Johnny: Gosh, uncle jake, you sure can turn a phrase. I’m gonna call shin and tell him that we want to convene a board meeting as soon as possible. So if you’ll excuse me.

[Tense music]

Jake: That arrogant son of a bitch.

[Exhales] Again? Sorry to interrupt whatever that was going on here when I walked in.

Gabi: Nothing was going on.

Jake: Looked pretty cozy to me, gabs.

Gabi: We need his votes to get what we want, okay? I know what I’m doing. Would you please trust me?

[Eerie tone]

[Phone beeps] Oh, funny. Maggie kiriakis wants to see you.

Jake: Hmm.

Gabi: What’s that about?

Ciara: Do you think that the devil possessed grandpa doug again?

Julie: Oh, god forbid. But something very strange happened just a couple of nights ago. A fire broke out on top of the stove. The stove was not even on.

Ciara: Are you sure it wasn’t?

Julie: I’m sure, darling. The repair person looked it over, said everything was fine, had to be user error.

Ben: Hmm. And you think maybe that it could have been the devil that did it?

Julie: The fire broke out just as I was leaving to bring you that cross.

Ciara: Yes, and johnny brought it over.

Julie: Yeah, johnny. Johnny showed up. Wanted to talk to doug about this awful movie that he plans to make. Well, I told him what i thought of that.

Ben: Well, he told us that you were busy–

Ciara: “Putting out fires.” He said you were putting out fires, but he said it in a very joking kind of way.

Julie: Well, it wasn’t any joke. The flames were this high, there was absolutely no reason for them, and…

[Sighs] God. Oh, god, this cannot be happening again.

Allie: Oh, no worries there.

Chanel: All right. And serve in a chilled cocktail glass.

Tripp: Oh, thank you.

Chanel: Cosmos a la london, as prescribed by chanel dupree.

Tripp: Thank you so much. You’re the best. And whatever I can do to help you in court, you can count on me.

Chanel: Well, we might wanna rethink that. When I asked you, I didn’t know that you were just about to become johnny’s brother-in-law.

Tripp: Well, he’ll be my brother-in-law only if allie says “yes.”

Chanel: Well, if she does say “yes,” then just make sure it’s cool with her for you to testify.

Tripp: I’m sure it will be. I mean, she feels the same about johnny as I do. She’s even taken to calling him the evil twin.

[Ominous music]

Jake: I swear, I have no idea what maggie wants.

[Phone beeps]

Gabi: Well, she says it’s urgent.

Jake: It’s gotta have something to do with victor and the titan stuff. Better get going.

Gabi: Well, let me know what she says.

Jake: You know I will. But just fair warning, I don’t plan on doing much business talk.

[Ominous music]

[Eerie tone]

Ciara: Has grandpa doug been okay lately?

Julie: He hasn’t locked me in the freezer again, if that’s what you’re asking.

Ciara: Oh, god. I–I don’t know exactly what I’m asking. I just… has he been acting out of character?

Julie: No. No, he’s back to being the most wonderful husband in the world again. And you know I’m watching him like a hawk after everything we’ve been through.

Ciara: Yeah, well, sure. Of course. I can imagine.

Julie: Come to think of it… when the devil left doug, went into marlena, she was present in the room. I mean, she was physically there with him. Now, doug was not at that exorcism. So there’s no way that the devil could have gone back to possess him.

Ben: Is that how these things work?

Julie: That’s what I’m told.

Ben: All right.

Julie: Okay, uh, I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry if I’ve disturbed you people.

Ben: No, no, no.

Julie: I didn’t mean to. I guess I am getting…

[Sighs] Crazy.

Ben: No, no.

Julie: I just want you to be well and, oh, my god, I want you to be safe, darling. And consider yourselves lucky that you don’t have a gas stove.

[Both chuckle] Have a wonderful, wonderful valentine’s day together.

Ben: Thank you.

Ciara: We will. And tell grandpa doug that i love him and give him all my hugs and kisses.

Julie: I’ll be glad to do.

Ciara: Okay.

Julie: Bye-bye.

Ciara: Bye.

Ben: Bye, julie.

Ciara: [Sighs] Okay, she really just gave me a scare. Ben?

Ben: It just doesn’t make any damn sense, ciara. There’s nothing wrong with the nail. The cross wasn’t top-heavy.

Ciara: Okay, now you’re scaring me.

Ben: Okay, hey. Let’s go inside.

[Sighs]

[Tense music]

Ciara: Ben, what are you thinking?

Ben: I’m thinking that maybe she was right. That there’s no way that the devil could have gone back into doug.

Ciara: But?

Ben: But maybe… it could have jumped into somebody else.

[Tense music]

Hutchins: This lady says she’s a reporter, that she wanted to talk to me about–

Melinda: This is not a lady or a reporter. This is a witness tamperer. Get out, miss walker, before I have the bailiff throw you out. And I suggest you call a lawyer unless you wanna join your boyfriend in statesville.

[Phone beeps]

[Line ringing]

[Phone rings, beeps]

Ava: Hey, honey.

Tripp: Hey, mom. I just wanted to say thank you for helping me get ready for tonight.

Ava: Yeah, of course. How you doing?

Tripp: I wish I could fast-forward to dinner. But hey, can I ask you to pick up a few extra things for me? I’m gonna need some cranberry juice and some limes.

Ava: Cosmos, huh? Sounds like everything’s a go.

Tripp: Yeah. Yeah, she’s gonna be so surprised.

Chanel: Hey, horton. You look like you’re contemplating the meaning of life.

Allie: I kind of am. I just found out from tripp’s mom that he’s going to propose to me tonight.

Chanel: I know. He told me.

Allie: He told you?

Chanel: Well, only because he wanted my opinion of the ring. You’ll love it. It’s gorge.

Allie: I bet I will.

Chanel: So I know he wanted it to be a surprise, but since you know, what are you gonna say?

[Chilling music]

Jack: [Grunts]

Gabi: What’s wrong?

Jack: Damn it.

[Vocalizes] I don’t know. A weird shock feeling.

Gabi: It’s been really dry out; I’m literally an electroshock machine. Are you okay?

Jake: [Vocalizes] Yeah. I’ll be fine. I’ll see you later.

Gabi: Yeah.

Jake: Oh, and, uh, I hope you’re hungry, because I got a bit of a surprise for you when I get back from maggie’S. See you, johnny.

Gabi: He’s got a surprise for me. He’s still plotting with maggie practically out in the open.

Johnny: Well, you’ve got an even bigger surprise for him. You know what they say: Pride goeth before the fall.

Ciara: So if the devil is still after our baby…

Ben: It had to have been somebody at the exorcism.

Ciara: All right, well, belle told me who was there. Marlena, of course. John, eric, brady, sami, allie, and johnny. Johnny. The one who brought us the cross.
