Gwen: Well, i just gonna ask you if you spoke to jake.

Gabi: Yeah, i went to go see jake, but we didn’t talk because he was in bed with ava vitali.

Ava: Tripp, hey. Yeah, I just wanted to let you know that I’m okay and I’m– jake dimera is letting me stay at his place. Yeah, no, no, no, I don’t want to keep you, I know you’re busy at the hospital. Okay, I love you, too. Jake, what’s wrong?

Jake: My back.

Gwen: Jake was with ava vitali?

Gabi: It sounds worse when you say it. Ugh.

Xander: God, what a morning this turned out to be.

Gwen: Ha. Why, yes, xander, my love, of course you can have my coffee.

Xander: You’re sore because I took a sip of your coffee?

Gwen: No, I’m sore because you left this morning and you didn’t say anything. Where have you been? I woke up, you were gone. You could’ve left a note or something.

Gwen: Somewhere being sarah’s hospital room, right?

Xander: No. I went to see rolf to find out why his bloody antidote didn’t work.

[Tense music]

Gwen: There you are. Rolf’s antidote. Well, good thing I kept an extra dose of rolf’s mind-altering drug. So now you just need to switch them. Just switch them. Just switch it with the antidote, do it. Alter sarah’s mind even more. And what did he say?

Sarah: Blech!

[Knock at door]

Tony: RenéE.

Sarah: What do you mean “renee”? My name is sarah.

Tony: Sarah. Thank god. But your voice–

Sarah: Are you trying to play a trick on me? You know my name is sarah. You’re my daddY.

Anna: I need you to take these off. I have been here for almost 12 hours!

Rafe: Yeah, i’m so sorry you had to stay overnight. It was too late last night for you to be arraigneD.

Anna: You are the police commissioner, rafe, you could’ve done something. You still caN. Call the hospitaL. Sarah is probably ready to drop the charges by now. And then we can forget this whole thing ever happened.

Gabi: Oh, there you are. I need to talk to you.

Tony: I don’t want to upset you, but I think this is important. Before you got here, she kept referring to me as “daddy.”

Xander: Rolf just kept insisting that the antidote should’ve worked.

Gwen: Are you sure that it didn’t work? I mean, she only just got it last night.

Xander: I talked to maggie this morning, and sarah still thinks she’s a little girl.

Gwen: I’m sorry that sarah’s not better, but at least that makes your decisions easier.

Gwen: You–you said– xander, you said that if the drug didn’t work, if it didn’t help her recover, if she didn’t remember the life that you had together, that you would let sarah go and that you would continue forward with marrying me.

Xander: I know what I saiD.

Gwen: But you don’t want to let sarah gO.

Xander: I have to see her, gwen.

Gwen: She’s a tad young for you now, don’t you think?

Xander: Oh, wow, that is– wow, that’s very funny. Do you have any more very funny jokes about a woman whose life was stolen from her?

Xander: Gwen, I know you’re in a hard spot here, but I thought you were on board with sarah getting help. You even agreed to go and see rolf if chad couldn’t get the antidotE.

Xander: I just need to know this situation with sarah is temporary, that’s all. That’s why I need to see her, talk to maggie. You have to understand thaT.

Maggie: Yeah. And then this. You know, I was more than ready to wait for that drug to be vetted. But not our anna. She injected sarah with the drug before we even knew what was in it. And now we don’t know when or if sarah’s ever gonna come out of it. Oh, I know this is difficult for you, tony. Especially since you were so willing to help uS. But it’s all your wife’s fault.

Anna: Excuse me! We happen to be in the middle of something here!

Gabi: Yes, well, so are we. And obviously you’re not going anywhere.

Rafe: This had better be important. I’m about to have a prisoner arraigned.

Gabi: Anna? The dimeras will have her out before dinneR. I’m here to talk to you about another criminal.

Rafe: Ava moved in with jake? How’d that happen?

Gabi: How’s that bitch get anything to happen? She manipulated him. She claimed that she had nowhere to go because you threw her out. Are you kidding me? The head of the vitali crime family, she can’t fend for herself? She can’t pay rent? No, she did this to torture me.

Rafe: Torture you?

Gabi: Yeah, now that I can’t shove my nose into her relationship with you, she’s using jake.

Rafe: Okay, this is even a little self-absorbed for you.

Tony: She doesn’t think she’s renée anymore.

Anna: Oh, thank god! Then she’s been cured.

Xander: So there’s no change?

Maggie: If anything, she’s gotten worse. She’s–

Xander: Just tell me, maggiE.

Maggie: She called tony “daddy.” I talked to her doctors and they said that she’s shown no sign of improvement.

Xander: Well, maybe this is just temporary. You know, maybe it’s just an initial reaction to the drug.

Maggie: Xander, the doctors said they ran more brain scans. Her brain appears to be even more damaged than it was beforE. Rrest her? For what? Staying at jake’s isn’t exactly a crime.

Gabi: No, but what she did was you waS. Paying those perps to say you planted evidence.

Rafe: Yeah, but I have no proof that she did that and I kind of need proof before I arrest heR. You know, innocent until proven guilty?

Gabi: I know there’s proof. I’m sure of it. There has to be a trail that leads to heR.

Rafe: Okay, well, if there is, we haven’t found it yet.

Gabi: It’s because you don’t know where to look. Give me the keys. Give it to me and I can guarantee you that bitch will end up behind bars.

Jake: Ahh, thank you, ava. Sigrid has nothing on you.

Ava: Told you. So, feeling better?

Jake: Oh, yeaH. Very much. So much so I’m gonna go and get that air mattress and believe me when I say I’m going to spare no expense.

Gwen: Well, this has turned out to be a very interesting morning.

Gwen: I know what you’re doing here. I could hear you.

Ava: What are you talking about?

Gwen: I could hear you and jake going at it all the way out there in the corridor. Jake was particularly vocal.

Ava: No, no, no. [Laughs] No, I was giving him a massage. He threw his back out from sleeping on the floor.

Gwen: Come on, it’s me, it’s gwen, you don’t need to give me this cover storY.

Ava: No, it happens to be the truth.

Gwen: It doesn’t matter. I don’t care. I’m not here to talk about jake.

Ava: Okay. What are you here to talk about then?

Gwen: I’m here because I need to talk to you about xander, right now.

Xander: Oh, maggie, I’m just– I’m just so sorry.

Maggie: I know, sweetie. Me too.

Maggie: You know what? It can’t hurt. Actually, I was going home. I thought I’d take a shower and change clothes. If she asks where I am, will you tell where I went?

Maggie: You know, the night before your wedding, I said to victor that sarah was going to live happily ever after. Instead, her life has become a nightmare. Gotta go.

Sarah: Sarah and eric, sitting in a tree k-I-s-s-I-n-G. Of course, I’ll marry you, eric. And we’ll have a baby. It’ll be a little girl.

Xander: Sarah?

Sarah: Who are you? My mom said I’m not supposed to talk to strangers.

Sonny: There is nothing for you to forgive. On the other hand, this whole conversation is just an example of what it would be like if I didn’t come back. You would be manipulating me, demanding that i be at your beck and call 24/7.

Victor: I think your father needs you. I’m really worried about him.

Sonny: You’re incorrigible. And I would be a fool to say yes.

Victor: You’re tempted though, aren’t you?

Sonny: Look, I have to talk to will about it, okay? And if he has any objection, the answer is a categorical no.

Victor: I think his parents need him too.

Sonny: They’re not even here.

Victor: They’ll come back. They always do. Maggie. How are you? How’s sarah?

Maggie: Not gooD. The doctors told me she’s worse.

Victor: Oh, maggiE.

Maggie: Anna did this. And anna is going to pay.

Anna: Sarah thinks that she’s a child? But that drug was supposed to cure her.

Maggie: Well, sarah’s doctors recommended that it be analyzed and tested before they used it.

Anna: Well, good, then at least she’s not renée dumonde anymore. So, go to tell rafe so he can release me.

Tony: I’m not sure.

Anna: Tony, I am sure. If sarah is now a child, she’s in no position to press charges.

Tony: Her mother is.

Anna: What?

Tony: AnnA… maggie is furious. She wants you to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Rafe: I can’t give you my case file. It’s police property.

Gabi: The case is closeD. Who’s going to notice one file missing a couple days?

Rafe: It doesn’t matter, okay?

Gabi: Okay, you know what matters is that you were set up. And you went to prison because of her. And you’re just gonna let her get away with it?

Rafe: NO.

Gabi: And another thing. You think she’s given up? When it comes to revenge, she’s a “try, try again” kind of gal.

Rafe: If I were to give you that case file, trask would have my head. And my badge. And yes, she would notice if one case file were missing.

Gabi: FinE.

Rafe: But there might be a way.

GabI: What way?

Rafe: The da’s office to give my lawyer a copy of everything that the police have. If I were to waive my attorney/client privilege, I could give you a copy.

Gabi: You would do that?

Rafe: Yes. I would do thaT.

Gabi: Rafe! You’re not gonna regret this!

Rafe: Yeah, right, sure I won’t. Because everything always goes great when you’re in chargE.

Gabi: OH. Listen to me. I am going to make ava pay for what she did to you. With your help or without it.

Ava: You switched out the antidote? How is that even possible?

Gwen: Because I still had some left from when I used it on abigail.

Ava: So you had that just tucked up on the odd chance that down the road you might wanna drive somebody else out of their mind?

Gwen: Well, thank god I did because you and I both know that if rolf’s antidote could bring back sarah, xander would go back to her in a heartbeat.

Ava: Okay. So, on the one hand we have a nice woman, a doctor who helps people whose losing her, you know, mind. And on the other hand, we’ve got you, who’s losing her boyfriend.

Gwen: I thought you’d understand.

Ava: No, I understand. Yeah, I do understand. I’m just a little taken aback here because I ran a crime family and I think this is cold.

Gwen: Okay, you can can the sermon. Okay? Because it’s donE. I have– I did what i did, and sarah now thinks she’s a child, and nothing can be done to change that.

Sarah: I can’t marry you.

Xander: Why not?

Sarah: Because when i grow up, I’m gonna marry eric.

Xander: Eric brady?

Sarah: Yes. I have a crush on hiM.

Xander: Sarah, you’re not gonna marry eric.

Sarah: I am so! You’re not the boss of me. And I can’t marry you ’cause eric’s gonna marry me.

Xander: Yeah, well, he married you all right, to his brother.

Sarah: What?

Xander: He performs a ceremony when you marry his brother, rex.

Sarah: Eric doesn’t have a brotheR.

Victor: I’m so, so sorry. But you know if anybody can get sarah through this, it’s you.

Maggie: Keep telling me that.

Anna: Maggie wants to press charges against me? That’s outrageous.

Tony: No, anna, it’s not outrageous. Playing god with sarah’s mental health because she had this sad illusion that she was renée? Because it inconvenienced you? Now that’s outrageous.

Anna: You’re always mad at me lately, tony.

Tony: You know, sometimes, your insight astounds me. Now don’t cry. Don’t, please.

Anna: But tony, chad said that dr. Rolf said that was the antidote.

Tony: Yes, and the doctors wanted to rigorously test it to make sure it was. To make sure it didn’t make things worse! But you didn’t allow that to happen because you knew better!

Anna: I was sincerely trying to help. It’s not like I killed sarah. I mean, she’s just a different kind of off.

Tony: No, anna, it’s not “a different kind of off.” It’s worse. Do you realize that sarah has to spend the rest of her life possibly thinking she’s a five-year-old? Maggie has to spend the rest of her life perhaps in taking care of heR. There’s no one to blame about this. Except you!

Ava: So, instead of the antidote, sarah got a whole new dose of what screwed her up in the first place?

Gwen: Not to put too fine a point on iT.

Ava: Okay, so I’ve got a question for you. Why in god’s name are you sharing this with me?

Gwen: Because, ava, I needed someone to talk to. Somebody who understands why I did what I did. I mean, my god, look at what you did to rafe.

Ava: Okay, hold on a second there, all right? Okay, here’s something for you. Rafe, he did have sex with nicole. He did lie about it. He was guilty. Sarah never did anything to you. Hell, sarah never did anything to anybody.

Gwen: Whose side are you on?

Ava: Does it matter? Do you even really care? You know what? You’re probably right about one thinG. I am probably the only person who understands you. And what I understand is that you will do whatever it takes to get whatever you want. And you haven’t changed a hair on your head since you landed in saleM.

Gwen: A girl’s got to do what a girl’s got to dO.

Victor: Maggie?

Maggie: Yeah?

Victor: I probably shouldn’t ask this, but whenever you talked about sarah growing up, you always talk about a sweet, happy chilD. What’s she like now?

Maggie: Sweet. HappY. She hates being in the hospital. But she seems happy.

Victor: Well, if we can’t pull her out of this, I will do anything and everything in my power to see that she stays that way. We can’t help the hell that this is all putting you through, but I can say that we’ll take care of her. And make sure she stays happy.

Maggie: Victor… Thank god you showed up at my back door that day.

[Sweet music]

Rafe: Well, your lawyer just calleD. He should be here any minute.

Anna: Rafe, what’s gonna happen to me? Am I going to prison?

Gabi: I have to tell rafe how accommodating his lawyer is. She doesn’t want ava to get away with this either. Watch you, ava vitalI. I’m coming for you.

Gwen: How it’d go at the hospital? Is sarah any better?

Xander: No, she’s worse.

Gwen: Really?

Xander: The latest brain scan show that the supposed antidote has just damaged the brain even more. Now she thinks she’s a little girl.

Gwen: You saw her?

Xander: She thinks she’s gonna go up and marry eric brady.

Gwen: Wasn’t he–

Xander: Father of her baby, the baby that died.

Gwen: Well– I’m sorry, that must’ve been really, really hard for you knowing that she’s hung up on eric.

Xander: I mean, at this point, I don’t really care about any of that anymore. Honestly, if she thinks she’s a child, who cares if she wants to grow up and marry eric if that makes her happy?

Gwen: I’m sorry.

Xander: You were right.

Gwen: I was?

Xander: I got my answer. It doesn’t look like sarah’s gonna recover from thiS. She had absolutely no idea who I waS. That part of my life iS… truly over. But ours isn’T. Ours is just beginning. So let’s get married.

Gwen: Ohh. [Chuckles]

Ben: I was, but I needed to get parts for an engine rebuild. What are you doing?

Ciara: Well, allie told me that the cake for the party would be ready today, but sweet bits isn’t even open.

Ben: Agh. Well, we can’t have a gender reveal party without a cake.

Ciara: I know. I wonder where allie could be.

Johnny: Somebody, please. Help me.

Abigail: What would allie be doing in a crypt? Not gonna know unless I go in there.

Ciara: And he is falling all over himself to try to be helpful. He wants to build the baby a cradle.

Ben: I don’t remember that guy building me anything, except maybe a drink.

Ciara: Yeah, well, he told me that he learned woodworking in prison.

Ben: Yeah, he’s definitely trying a little too hard.

Ciara: Yeah, because he’s determined to be in the baby’s life. And, ben, I’m sorry, I don’t like that idea at all.

Clyde: So when did you get out?

Ej: This morning. My attorney had the conviction overturned.

Clyde: On what grounds?

Ej: She was able to prove that I’d been framed.

Clyde: [Chuckles] And I’m your first stop. Well, I’m so flattered.

Ej: You were not my first stop. And this visit is anything but flattering.

Clyde: Everything that needed to be said between you and i got said back in statesville.

Ej: That arrangement you dictated while in prison doesn’t work for me now that I’m free. I’m here to renegotiate.

Allie: Why was nicole so worried? I sent her a text. I told her I wasn’t coming home.

Chanel: Yeah, but then you texted me and you said you would be here.

Chanel: Okay, well, we didn’t know that, and I even went by the dimera mansion earlier.

Chanel: Why do you think? I was trying to figure out where the hell you were. And I asked abigail if she had seen you.

Chanel: She said that you came there looking for johnny.

Allie: And I found him.

Chanel: Okay. So? What happened?

Ciara: [Sighs] Oh, baby, I hope there’s nothing wrong with the cake. Mm. What time is it? Wow, shoot, I have to head to shawn and belle’S. Shawn promised that he would help my grandma julie with the decorations for the party.

Ben: Mm. Okay. I was gonna say maybe I could ask my dad for help, but that’s probably not a good idea, huh?

Ben: That was really sweet of you. And I know he can be pushy, and he’s trying way too hard to convince us that he’s changed and all, but I think maybe we need to try to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Ciara: I know. And I am trying. I promise. Because you are the love of my life and I know how important it would be to you if your dad actually has changed. It’s just–

Ciara: I’m just a little overprotective, you know? I mean, I’m already a mama lion about this baby.

Ben: [Growls]

Ej: I’m not breaking bread with you. The last time we tried to coexist peacefully, I took a bullet.

Allie: I just started driving.

And when abigail struck me in the head with this urn, hmm, it ended my day here on this earth. So there was only one possible destination for my poor, corrupt soul. I became the indentured servant to mephistopheles himself. He sent me here to deal with you.

Johnny: So what are you gonna do with me?

[Chuckles]

Abigail: I’m glad allie’s okay. I just hope johnny is too.

Chad: Yeah, god only knows what he’s up to now. I mean, he’s been weird ever since he broke up with chanel.

Abigail: Well, thankfully ej’s back. Maybe he can deal with it.

Chad: Ej? He’s back?

Abigail: Yeah. He got out this morning. Did you not hear?

Chad: I knew that the conviction was overturned, but I didn’t think that he would be out so soon. I mean, that’s great.

Abigail: Yeah. I just can’t believe that belle put that phony evidence on his computer. She’s lucky she didn’t get disbarred.

Chad: Well, yeah, but she got the defense that “the devil made do it.”

Abigail: Oh, it’s not funny. What she did to ej was awful.

Chad: Ah, I guess.

Clyde: Dimera here just offered me a job.

Ben: Oh. What does dimera here get out of giving him a job?

Clyde: Well, you know, we were cellmates back in statesville. We got to know each other really well, didn’t we, elvis?

Ben: Huh. Well, elvis, what does the parole board think of an ex-con going to work for another ex-con?

Ej: That’s not what I am. My conviction was overturned.

Clyde: You know, you learn a lot about who to trust when you’re on the inside. ‘Cause having the right person back you up could keep you alive. And elvis knows that business on the outside can be just about as cutthroat. But I’m gonna have to say no to your generous offer. You made it clear that taking the job would require me to move away from salem. I can’t do that. It would violate the terms of my parole. Besides, I’m looking forward to becoming a doting grandpa, once ben and ciara’s baby arrives.

Ej: As you wish. But I must say, I’m very disappointed.

[Dramatic music]

Ben: You want to tell me what that was all about?

Shawn: Would you please say something?

Belle: It’s not just about forgiving you. You and jan are gonna have a child. And that child is gonna tie you to her for the rest of your life. I don’t know if I can live with that.

Ciara: Hi. I just used my key. I hope that’s– oh, gosh, I’m sorry. Am I interrupting something?

Shawn: Yeah.

Belle: No, I was just leaving.

Shawn: What’s in the– what’s in the bag?

Ciara: It’s just everything you need to decorate grandma and grandpa’s house for the party. I just had dinner with them last night and they’re very excited about having another great-grandchild.

Shawn: Yeah, well, they’re gonna be twice as excited when I hear my news.

Ciara: Okay, well, maybe staying at john and marlena’s will give her some time to think. They’ll convince belle to give you another chance.

Shawn: You know what bothers me is that I don’t think that they’re the only ones that she’s turning to right now.

Ej: Uh, it’s a bit early, isn’t it? It’s not even noon yet.

Belle: Well, I just found out that my husband is having a baby with jan spears. So please, tell me when is the socially acceptable time to start drowning my sorrows?

Belle: Anyway, I’m, uh– I’m gonna change the subject. Did you get in touch with johnny?

Ej: No, I called the office, but they said he hadn’t been in.

Ej: Now, where’s that waitress?

Belle: She said she’d be right back. Why? Are you gonna tell them to cut me off?

Ej: No, I’m going to see to it that you’re not drinking alone.

Chad: I just feel really bad about–about turning on ej.

Abigail: Yeah, but I thought he walked up to me at the courthouse and started kissing me. I mean, you thought you saw it happen. It didn’t really occur to us that the devil morphed into ej. That’s not a run-of-the-mill event.

Chad: Yeah, you’re absolutely right. I mean, I was furious with ej when I took the stand. I mean, my testimony is the reason why the judge found him guilty.

Abigail: You didn’t know that belle put that evidence on his computer.

Chad: Yeah. I know.

Abigail: Well, at least he’s out now and he can start putting it all behind him. But, god, I just wonder, what was it like to be inmate ej dimera?

Chad: I–I’m sure he ran into some bad dudes.

Abigail: Probably. But when I saw him, he didn’t seem like he was any worse for having been there.

Clyde: I told you, ej offered me a job.

Ben: Okay, well, you’re not exactly the corporate type, dad, so what kind of job was it?

Clyde: Why do you sound so suspicious?

Ben: Why am I suspicious? Because I’ve known you all my life. I have you sleeping my on couch, and you promised me that you would stick to the straight and narrow.

Clyde: Yeah, and I meant it. Which is why I turned down the job, leaving a whole lot of money on the table, to keep working the grill at brady pub.

Ben: Ciara says you made her breakfast this morning too?

Clyde: Yeah, you say that like it’s a crime. Can’t I do anything right?

Ben: Dad, you need to just dial it back just a little bit. Please, okay? You’re not gonna build a cradle for our baby.

Clyde: What are you giving me grief for, for taking an interest in my own grandkid?

Ben: Because we already have enough of the wrong kind of interest after our baby.

Clyde: What does that mean?

Ben: This is gonna sound off the wall. But dad, I swear to you it is true. We have proof that the devil wants our baby.

Clyde: [Scoffs] You know, ciara said something like that. I thought she was joking.

Ben: It’s not a joke. Believe me.

Andre: Don’t worry, I’m not gonna kill you. You heard what your master told you. He has a vested interest in keeping you alive. Well, at least for now.

Johnny: You know, my family’s probably already looking for me.

Andre: He was concerned about that. That’s why he sent me, to tie the loose ends.

Johnny: What are you talking about?

Andre: We’re going to collaborate on a letter, you and I. Yes, it’s going to be your farewell to salem. And to all those that you love so dearly that live here.

Chanel: You saw johnny last night and you got scared, right? About saying that you wanted to be with me?

Allie: I don’t scare that easy.

Chanel: Yeah, but life was a lot easier when you thought you were straight, right?

Allie: Listen to me. I like boys and I like girls and I have not changed my mind about that.

Chanel: So you’re saying you changed your mind about me. Then you’re lying to yourself. You care about me. And that’s why we decided to try to see if we could make this work. We are way more than friends. And before you went to see johnny yesterday, you were into me, into us.

Chanel: What did he say to you?

Oh, believe me, they’re gonna buy this. “One minute I wanted to make a movie, and the next minute I wanted to run dimera enterprises. Chanel: So your brother did get to you. He’s pulling the strings right now. Horton, I have been so happy. Oh, please, please don’t let him do this to us.

Allie: It’s not him who’s doing this. It’s me. I took some steps back and I looked at my life over the last few months. I went from planning to marry tripp right into a relationship with you. I need time. I need to be alone.

Chanel: Well, what about the bakery?

Allie: Bakery’s yours.

Chanel: Yeah, but I thought we were partners.

Allie: I didn’t put a cent into that place.

Chanel: Yeah, but you– you got your great-grandmother’s donut recipe and you get up in the middle of the night to help with the baking. Come on, that meant so, so much to me.

Chanel: Like I found you to take johnny’s place? Don’t do this, horton. I don’t know what went on with you and johnny last night, but all I know is that something’s been really off since you walked through that door.

Andre: Hmm.

Clyde: So let me ask you, you still seeing that shrink?

Ben: Dad, marlena’s not possessed anymore.

Clyde: Well, does that mean your troubles are over now?

Ben: I hope so. But the devil’s upped his game since he returned to salem. He’s able to jump from person to person.

Clyde: How do you know that?

Ben: Marlena’s daughter was possessed for a little while.

Clyde: And now?

Ben: And now, there’s no sign of him, but–

Clyde: But why would he want your kid?

Ben: I don’t know, dad. We don’t know that. But I do know that right now my baby’s safe. I intend to keep it that way.

Clyde: Yeah. Well, I saw the way ciara fought for you. So if that devil does come after your kid, he’s in for a hell of a fight. And my money’s on ciara.

Ciara: Look, I just– I think you need to give belle some time. She was possessed, shawn. She did things that she would never do in a million years. She has to figure out how to live with that.

Shawn: I don’t– I just don’t– I can’t believe that we’re talking about belle’s possession like–like she had the flu or something.

Ciara: I saw marlena when she was like that, and belle’s not gonna get past this overnight.

Shawn: Yeah, you’re right. I mean, we both just went through hell, literally. I just hope that– I hope that when she’s herself she won’t be so furious with me.

Ciara: No. No way. I know belle. And no matter how angry she is, she is not gonna give jan the satisfaction of ruining your marriage.

Ej: This may not seem like an appropriate time for a toast, but I hope you’ll indulge me.

Belle: Go for it.

Ej: The devil tried to make a hash of both of our lives, but you were strong enough to throw him off, and because you did, the worst is behind you now. And I have every confidence that you’ll be saying the exact same thing very soon. Here’s to you.

[Soft guitar music]

Chad: How was ej when you saw him?

Abigail: Uh, in high gear. He wants to put the whole thing behind him so he can get his life back.

Chad: Good for him.

Abigail: So the two of you weren’t really getting along before he went to prison.

Abigail: Do you think you could join forces and throw gabi out of the executive suite?

Chad: Well, there’s nothing that the old man would love more than his sons burying the hatchet to get rid of an interloper. When did that come?

Belle: Oh, I am. God, I loathe that woman with every fiber of my being. And I don’t blame shawn for what happened. But he’s not entirely innocent. And yes, he thought that that was me in bed, but even so, he slept with jan spears and then lied to me about it for months. You know, you just don’t know what it feels like to have your spouse sleep with someone, and not just anyone, but someone that you just detest and then lie to you about it over and over.

Ej: Actually, I know exactly how that feels.

Shawn: I believe that you’re pregnant, jan. But I don’t believe that I’m the father.

Clyde: Well, that sounds kinda stupid to me. Why not just read it?

Ciara: Well, because it’s more fun this way.

Clyde: Oh. So what are you gonna do? Have a marching band or fireworks or some rockets or something?

Ciara: Yeah, rockets. No, allie and chanel are going to bake a cake, and when we cut into it, it’s either gonna be pink or blue.

Belle: I couldn’t sleep last night because I kept remembering all of the times that shawn and I talked about what happened with jan. And those conversations were excruciating. But after each one, I felt like we had gotten closer, you know? We’d gotten stronger.

Belle: [Chuckles] Then we’d say we didn’t know if it was just good luck or good timing, or some protective force from the universe that i got there in time. And I would express my relief to shawn, he would hold me so close, and I just had this– this deep sense of just being okay. And each one of those times, he was lying to me. He had all those chances to tell me the truth, and he didn’T.

Ej: What did shawn have to say about all this?

Belle: I think he’s holding out hope that the baby’s not his. He’s actually with jan right now asking her to take a paternity test.

Ej: Do you think she’ll agree?

Belle: Well, if she doesn’t, I think it’s safe to say the baby’s not his and she’s been lying.

Jan: I will not put our baby at risk.

Shawn: But I just told you the test is safe. They do a little blood sample from you, and a cheek swab from me, that’s it.

Jan: And how accurate are the results?

Shawn: 99%. I’ve already made the arrangements with the prison infirmary, and they’re ready for us.

Clyde: So I’m not invited to the party?

Ciara: You were the one who just said it was stupid.

Belle: Well, I actually see that as bad news. If she agreed, then that means she isn’t worried about the results, she already knows that you’re the baby daddy.

Belle: [Scoffs] I doubt that. I mean, given how madly in love she is with you, it’s hard to imagine she would’ve allowed herself to get knocked up by anybody else.

Shawn: She is insane, okay, so I don’t understand. We’re talking about jan spears. I don’t understand how anything could be hard to imagine. I mean, she’s a lunatic, come on.

Belle: Yeah. You do have a point. Yeah, maybe impending motherhood will mellow her. Although I have to say, if I had to choose any woman in the world who would definitely destroy their own child’s life, it would be jan. I mean, isn’t it hard to picture her doing something as sane and unselfish as caring for another human being?

Nicole: Yeah. Yeah. Look, I know–I know that I should not be paranoid, but I cannot shake this feeling that ava just wants to plot some revenge against us. In fact, you know what, it is not a feeling, because she said as much herself.

Rafe: Okay, would you–try not to worry, okay? Empty threats are ava’s M.O., And I’m sure it’s not gonna be long before she’s trying to torture someone else.

Jake: Bathroom’s all yours.

[Knock on door]

Jake: [Sighs] It’s gotta be for ben and ciara. Nobody knows I live here except… gabi.

Gabi: Jake, I– what the hell is she doing here?

Nicole: Holly and henry are asleep, and allie texted me earlier and said she’s not coming home tonight.

Rafe: What’s that all about?

Nicole: I guess she’s staying at chanel’S.

Rafe: Why?

Nicole: You are behind the times, sir.

Nicole: Well, allie and chanel are officially… a couple

Rafe: What?

Rafe: Wait, so allie is dating johnny’s ex? Whoa. Man. You know, leave it to sami’s kids not to find a easy route to romance, huh?

Nicole: Okay, well, now, allie and chanel had feelings for each other long before johnny came into the picture. Just took them a while to admit it.

Rafe: Okay. I guess that’s something that you and I can relate to.

Rafe: Glad we finally figured it out.

Rafe: Yeah. So, allie’s gone. Kids are sleeping. Looks like we have the place to ourselves.

Jake: Freaking kidding me? Where the hell do you get off?

Ava: Okay, let me explain.

Gabi: Oh, this should be rich.

Ava: Well, obviously, you know that rafe and i split up.

Gabi: Yeah. Yeah. He finally came to his senses. Wait–what the hell does that have to do with you being in bed with my boyfriend?

Jake: Ex-boyfriend.

Ava: Just kind of seemed like fate, you know? You screwed over jake, and rafe cheated on me, so what better way for jake and I to get over being leveled by the hernandez wrecking crew than some old-fashioned bada big, bada boom. Right, jake?

Shawn: So, jan said she’s pregnant.

Belle: And that it’s yours. A baby. But that’s impossible, right? You two never slept together, because I got there in time. So, she must have slept with a prison guard. Which, of course, she denied, because she loves to torture me, but… I don’t know, maybe–maybe when she woke up from the coma and started making all that trouble for everyone, she just slept with some random person. Either way, she is determined to pass this baby off as yours.

[Small laugh] I mean, of all the crazy things she’s ever done, this has got to be the craziest, because you would never, ever sleep with jan.

Shawn: Okay, belle, stop.

Belle: What?

Shawn: I did. I did sleep with jan spears. I was on an antidepressant,

Belle: You–no. No, I remember. I walked in and–

Shawn: No, and I thought– I thought it was you, belle. I mean, it was our anniversary. She was all over me. It was–it was your face. It was your voice. It was your body.

Belle: I think I’m gonna be sick.

Shawn: That’s exactly the same way that I felt when you walked in and I realized that the woman I just made love to wasn’t you. Belle, I swear to you I did not know that it was jan until that moment. You’ve gotta believe me.

Belle: Why the hell didn’t you tell me this months ago?

Ciara: My uncle roman hired your dad to be a short order cook? Why?

Ben: Well, because i explained our situation to him, and your uncle decided that he wanted to help.

Ciara: Mm. So, you thought it would be be a good idea for your fresh-out-of-prison father to work at my family’s restaurant.

Ben: Clyde’s got to get a job somewhere, right? If not, he’s gonna be in violation of his parole. You know that. Who better than an ex-cop to keep an eye on him?

Ciara: Yeah, I guess. It’s just, I’m really surprised that my uncle roman went for it.

Ben: Why? Because my dad terrorized half of the salem population?

Ciara: Well, yeah, there’s that–but clyde and kate used to be involved, and now my uncle roman and kate are back together.

Kate: Well, I see prison didn’t reform your tendency to eavesdrop on private conversations.

Clyde: Oh, I’m not eavesdropping–just came in to tell the boss that I finished up in there. Got the dishes all stacked, floor’s mopped. It’s clean as a whistle–you can check it out if you want.

Kate: Ha! I wish we could say the same thing about you.

Roman: Thanks, clyde. I’ll take your word for it.

Clyde: Sure.

Kate: I wouldn’t take his word for anything.

Clyde: Kate, I get it that you’ve got your issues with me, but you know, I got a bone or two to pick with you as well.

Kate: Excuse me?

Clyde: I seem to recall that the last time we met, you shot me.

Kate: Yeah. Well, that was a flesh wound. And that was because you were trying to kidnap my great-grandson. Your great-grandson, too, roman.

Clyde: How is the little tyke?

Kate: Seriously? You’re going to let this happen? You’re going to employ the guy who tried to steal allie’s baby?

[Kate scoffs]

Gabi: What is the matter with you, jake? How could you sleep with that lowlife bitch?

Jake: Ava, what the hell are you doing?

Nicole: And I know you will.

Rafe: Oh, here’s something interesting. Shawn had to arrest anna dimera for attacking sarah horton with a syringe.

Nicole: [Laughs] I’m sorry. What?

Rafe: Yeah. Seems that sarah has gone delusional from a drug that kristen dimera gave her, and now she thinks that she is tony’s ex-dead lover.

Nicole: Okay. That’s it. It’s official. Your day wins the crazy.

Rafe: Oh, well you did have to take the haymaker from ava.

Nicole: Yeah. True.

Rafe: So, how was the rest of your day? Everything okay at basic black?

Nicole: Well, no brawls, so that’s a plus. But I did have to spend several hours on the phone with my lawyer because it seems a few fashion sites are knocking off our originals, so we’re just, you know, weighing our options as to how to stop them.

Rafe: Oh. Well, you’re formidable, so they better be ready.

Nicole: Thank you.

Rafe: Mm-hmm. What?

Nicole: You know, it’s just, here we are, talking about our day, what you did, what I did. Like a normal couple.

Rafe: Yeah. Well… I guess that’s exactly what we are.

Ben: Kate is the main reason why clyde came to salem in the first place. I mean, she tracked him down because she had an issue with my sister being rafe’s therapist, and she wanted to cause trouble for him, so I think, really, the main reason why she was even dating my dad was to get under jordan’s skin.

Ciara: I just, I still can’t believe that kate dated some…

Ben: Redneck hillbilly drug dealer from the ozarks?

Ciara: Well, I was gonna say jerk, but yeah, sure.

Ben: Is that what you were gonna say? Is that what–

Ciara: Easy. Easy. And you know what, I bet you she regrets it now, considering all the hell that clyde brought into this town.

Clyde: You know, I never intended on kidnapping your great-grandson. It’s just, I got stuck in the middle of something, and I didn’t see any other way out. I mean, that little henry is just so damn cute. And ben was hurting so bad after losing ciara, I thought, hey, you know, that little kid’d be perfect for my boy.

Kate: What–[Huffs] So that’s your idea of good parenting–gifting your son with a stolen child?

Roman: Clyde, tell me you do realize just how wrong that thinking was.

Clyde: Oh, I do. Absolutely. I swear, I have learned the error of my ways. And besides, now that ben and ciara are having their own child, I don’t need to kidnap young’uns anymore.

Kate: [Exhales]

Jake: You know, gabi, not that it’s any of your damn business, but I invited ava to stay here with me.

Gabi: Why? Why? Why does she have to stay here with you?

Ava: Because I didn’t have any place to go after your brother blew up our relationship.

Gabi: Bull! Ha. You’re the fricking princess of the vitali crime family. Don’t tell me you don’t have dirty, dirty money stashed around somewhere.

Ava: Gabi, you know I gave up that money for tripp. You do know that.

Gabi: I would not believe one word that comes out of this skanky lying mouth of yours.

Shawn: I didn’t know how to say the words. Okay? I was afraid that if I said those words out loud, that it would be real. Oh my god, jan spears? I didn’t want to do that to you. I didn’t want to do that to us. And I just–I just wanted to forget that it ever happened.

Belle: Well, we can’t do that now, can we? Not with a baby on the way.

Belle: Well, I asked her. And she grabbed my hand and made me touch her stomach. She is definitely pregnant.

Shawn: Well, maybe it’s not mine. I mean, like you said–like you said, maybe she slept with somebody else.

Belle: Or maybe she’s actually carrying your child.

Shawn: Well, there is no way in hell that I’m gonna believe that without proof. I’m gonna have her take a paternity test.

Kate: Roman, are you hearing what he’s saying? He’s making jokes about kidnapping children.

Clyde: Hey, I’m sorry. I did not mean to offend. It was just my lame attempt to lighten the mood here a little.

Roman: Very lame. Considering you’re a parolee and I’m former law enforcement.

Clyde: That’s right, boss. And no more jokes, I promise. I’ll do whatever I have to do in order to keep this job. As you know, one step off the straight and narrow, and my parole officer’s got me right back on the train to statesville.

Kate: Well, that sounds like the perfect solution to me.

Clyde: Listen, I know I’ve given you all good reason not to trust me, but I’m a changed person. I swear that on the life of my unborn grandchild. I work every day to be a better man, one that that child can be proud of. And who knows, you know, someday, if I’m successful, maybe you and i could give it another go.

Ciara: Well, at least there’s no way that clyde would ever hit on kate. I mean, last time she saw him, she shot him, so I don’t think he’s gonna wanna have anything to do with her now.

Ben: I don’t know. My dad’s always loved a good challenge.

Ciara: Well, let’s hope that he focuses more on making a wonderful impression at his new place of work.

Ben: Yeah.

Tony: There’s no reason to involve the police.

Shawn: I’m assuming that it was ej who asked to see belle. There’s a good chance he might be released soon.

Shawn: It’s a long story. Bottom line: Belle planted evidence against him when she was possessed.

Rafe: Ah, that old story.

Shawn: Yeah, I know. It’s crazy. Not sure the judge is gonna go for it, but we’ve got pretty good reason to believe that it’s true.

Rafe: Why would the devil frame ej? Did I really just ask what the devil’s mo would be?

Shawn: Well, our theory is that satan wanted to destroy sami and ej’s relationship, just like he did abe and paulina’s and jake and gabi and not to mention mine and belle’S.

Rafe: That’s right. The devil sicced jan spears on you two.

Belle: You’re pregnant?

Gabi: You know, you spiked abigail’s drink, you kept your mouth shut, and you let everybody think that it was me. I almost ended up back in prison.

Gwen: If only you had, I’d be drinking in peace.

Gabi: [Scoffs] Yeah, I’m starting to wonder why I didn’t let abigail just inject you with that syringe full of crazy juice.

Gwen: You may have saved my neck, yes, but you ended up sealing sarah horton’s fate.

Anna: Maggie, there’s no reason to be upset.

Maggie: How can I not be upset when you just injected my daughter with a drug that hasn’t been fully vetted?

Tony: What? Is that true, anna?

Anna: No! Well, not exactly. Chad said that the lab’s unofficial opinion was that the drug is safe.

Maggie: Yeah, but they recommended a full panel of testing.

Anna: Which would’ve taken months or years.

Maggie: I don’t give a damn how long it would have taken. We’re talking about my daughter’s health and her well-being here. I wanted to wait, but no, no. No.

Tony: Maggie, I’m so sorry for what anna’s done.

Anna: Well, I’m not sorry at all. Dr. Rolf promised chad that the antidote would work. And he swore on stefano’s grave. And you know how devoted that creep was to your father. Sarah could be getting her memories back right now, as we speak.

Tony: Yeah, and that would be great, anna. But that doesn’t excuse your reckless behavior! And I don’t blame that she’s furious and terrified of what might happen to her daughter. Don’t you think she’s suffered enough?

Maggie: I’m gonna go talk to the lab techs and explain what happened. Hopefully they’ll be able to tell me what my options are now that you have put my daughter’s very life at risk.

Anna: Maggie, I was only trying to help.

[Tense music]

Shawn: Aunt maggie filled me in. It’s complicated.

Xander: There you are. Come on, we need to get back to the hospital right now. Come on.

Rafe: Alex?

Xander: Kristen injected her with the same drug that gwen used on abigail. She’s hallucinating.

Gwen: Rolf has produced an antidote, apparently. And maggie and xander are at the hospital with sarah now.

Gwen: If you are going to gloat about me losing the man that I love, please just go do it somewhere else.

Anna: It was an antidote developed by a world-renowned doctor. And any second now, sarah is going to get her memory back. I’m guessing it hasn’t started working yet.

Xander: Not as far as I can tell.

Anna: Well, give it time, you know, and soon sarah will be back to her old self, and then everyone can thank me.

Sarah as renee: How much more proof do you need? The bimbo just admitted to sticking me with a needle without my consent. There are witnesses. Arrest her already.

Shawn: I’m afraid I have no choice.

Anna: But I was trying to help her.

Shawn: Regardless of your motives, I still have to take you in.

Sarah as renee: So now that ms. Fredericks is in police custody, we can get back to the business of becoming mr. And mrs. Tony dimera.

Tony: Yes, definitely.

Sarah as renee: So shall we go back to the exam room and wait for our blood tests?

Tony: Why don’t i find out what the delay is and I’ll meet you there?

Sarah as renee: Fine.

Xander: [Sighs]

Tony: Oh, so what now?

Xander: I say we keep playing along. I mean, we’ll want to keep her here until we see how she reacts to the drug.

Tony: Yeah, this is the safest place for her, here.

Xander: Let’s just pray that the only reaction that she has is getting her memory back.

Tony: Yeah.

Xander: Yeah.

Maggie: Where is everybody?

Xander: Well, sarah just had anna arrested for assault, and now sarah and tony are waiting for their supposed blood tests.

Maggie: Well, thank god sarah’s still here.

Xander: What did you learn at the lab?

Maggie: The drug is probably safe, except they do want to flush it out of her system just in case.

Xander: Oh, they can do that, can they?

Maggie: I guess, in a certain amount of time, they can.

Xander: Are you sure that’s what you want?

Maggie: Why wouldn’t I?

Xander: Well, because there’s a chance the drug might work. Maggie, maybe we should wait. I mean, if the antidote has the desired effect… just imagine what a relief it would be… to have our sarah back.

Shawn: I just left anna in the interrogation room, and she’s a handful.

Rafe: Told you you should’ve clocked out early.

Shawn: Well, does the offer still stand? I’m sure belle’s home by now.

Rafe: Absolutely. What about our conversation? Earlier, before sarah came in? Seemed like you had something on your mind.

Shawn: Y– yeah, it’s not important. But thanks.

Rafe: Uh-huh.

Shawn: Have a good night, man.

Rafe: Okay.

Jan: You know, this little miracle growing inside of me has given me a second chance at motherhood. You remember when I got pregnant in high school?

Belle: I have to go.

Jan: What nicole’s father did to me was unspeakable. And I felt so ashamed, and I wanted to terminate the pregnancy, but shawn, he convinced me not to. And it wasn’t just talk. He–he was willing to marry me. He was willing to raise the child as his own. And so began our love story.

Belle: Shawn never loved you.

Jan: Of course he did. He was so kind and caring. But then I lost the baby. And I lost shawn too. But this time– this time, the baby is his. And we have another chance to raise a child together. It’s–it’s all come full circle, like a dream come true.

Belle: Like a total nightmare. And even if this is true, god forbid, and shawn is the father of that baby, he is not only going to not want to raise it with you. He is gonna be horrified, disgusted! He thinks you’re evil and crazy, just like every other person who’s had the misfortune of crossing paths with you!

Jan: Look, I know this is a lot to take in right now. But I really do think that we should try to get along. After all, my child and i are going to be in shawn’s life from now on. I hope that’s not gonna be a problem for you.

[Door slams] I think she took the news quite well, don’t you? Oh, man that is wrinkly.

Ava: So… where am I gonna sleep, jake?

Jake: You’re gonna take the bed, and I’ll take the floor.

Ava: Oh, come on, this is your place. I can’t let you do that.

Jake: Eh, it’s just for the night. I’ll grab an air mattress tomorrow.

Ava: You sure?

Jake: I wouldn’t offer if I’m not sure. You get settled in. I’m gonna– I’m gonna have a shower.

[Dramatic music]

Gabi: When I thought jake betrayed me, I wanted to kill him. Now that I know the truth, I’m– god, I’ve made such a mess of things. I would do anything to make it right.

Gwen: So talk to him.

Gabi: Did that. Didn’t go so well.

Gwen: [Sighs] I don’t know. Jake and I used to have these horrible, big blowups all the time, and I was sure that it was over for good, but then we’d just have fabulous make-up sex, and everything would be fine and dandy.

Gabi: Mm-mm-mm, I don’t know. I don’t know. Today when we parted ways, it– gwen, it felt pretty final.

Maggie: Xander, I know how much you want sarah back. So do I. But we just don’t know enough about this drug.

Xander: Rolf, he was so sure it would work.

Maggie: I’m sorry. The word of dr. Wilhelm rolf, it doesn’t hold a lot of weight with me, especially when it comes to my daughter, her life.

[Sniffles]

Xander: I know you’re right, maggie. It’s just, it just felt like we were so close.

Maggie: Yeah, it did. And it’s so frustrating.

[Sighs] But we have to be patient.

Xander: Don’t have a lot of choice now.

Maggie: [Sniffles] You know, sarah’s gonna put up quite a fight when she realizes they want to flush this drug out of her system. I better go check on her.

Xander: You mind if i stick around? I’d like to make sure she’s okay.

Maggie: Um… you know, xander, I hate to say this, but having alex around, it’s just gonna make sarah more upset.

Xander: You’re probably right.

Maggie: But I’ll keep you updated, I promise.

Xander: Thanks, maggie.

Maggie: You hang in there, okay?

Xander: Yeah.

Maggie: Yeah.

Xander: [Sighs]

Gabi: Ooh, these things go down pretty easy. Should I get us another round?

[Phone beeps]

Gwen: It’s xander. He wants to talk.

Shawn: Oh, good, you’re back. You are never gonna believe what happened at work today. Honey, is everything okay?

Belle: No, it’s not.

Shawn: What is it? Is it about what happened at the prison with ej?

Belle: No, ej wasn’t the prisoner who asked to see me.

Shawn: Who was it?

Anna: This is just wrong. Rafe, you can’t keep me here. I mean, sarah horton is not in her right mind. Something had to be done.

Rafe: You confessed to stabbing her with a syringe. Besides, there were three eyewitnesses.

Anna: But it’s not fair. I was only trying to help.

[Knock at door] Oh.

Tony: May I have a word with my wife?

Anna: Mm.

Rafe: [Chuckles] Be my guest.

Anna: Oh, tony, thank god you’re here. I mean, you’d think I was a common criminal.

Tony: Yes, well, I’ve arranged an attorney for you.

Anna: Oh, thank you, but I don’t think I’ll need one. I mean, any second now, sarah is going to get her memories back, and when she does, she’ll be so grateful that I helped her, you know, she’ll drop these ridiculous charges.

Tony: [Chuckles] You’d better pray that’s true, for sarah’s sake… as well as your own.

[Dramatic music]

Sarah as renee: Oh. It’s you.

Maggie: Where’s tony?

Sarah as renee: He went to get his blood taken. Where is that damn nurse?

Maggie: I’m sure someone will be along shortly.

Sarah as renee: Well, I hope so. And then tony and i can finally…

Maggie: Sarah?

Sarah: Yes?

Maggie: Oh, my god. You know who you are?

Xander: Maggie wanted the drug thoroughly tested before sarah was injected, but anna was just so angry and over it all that she grabbed the needle and jabbed sarah with it.

Gwen: Oh, my god. So what now?

Xander: Well, maggie asked for the drug to be flushed totally out of sarah’s system in case it’s dangerous, but… a part of me hopes that she changes her mind and we can see if the drug works, you know, see if sarah gets her memory back.

[Tense music]

Gwen: There you are.

[Sighs] Rolf’s antidote. Well, good thing I kept an extra dose of rolf’s mind-altering drug. So now you just need to… just switch them. Just switch them. Just switch it with the antidote. Just do it. Alter sarah’s mind even more.

[Faint rustling]

Yeah, I think you’re right. I think sarah would be better off if they just left the drug in her system.

Maggie: Sarah… do you remember who you are?

Sarah: Of course I do. I’m sarah horton, and you’re my mommy.

Maggie: [Sobs]

Jan: Mommy really enjoyed her visit with belle. Although I think the poor thing was still in denial when she left. But don’t worry. I’m sure daddy will set her straight.

Shawn: After all this time, what does jan want?

Belle: She had some news that she just couldn’t wait to share with me.

Shawn: Oh, what news?

Belle: She’s pregnant. And she claims that the baby’s yours.

Abigail: Harold said that you weren’t feeling well, and, uh, maybe these will make you feel better. They’re from tony.

Anna: [Scoffs] How dare he send me flowers as consolation when he gives all his time and attention to that– undead zombie renee dumonde.

Tony: Hmm. Knowing anna, there roses won’t be enough. So which poet’s words can I use to assuage a woman scorned? Shakespeare? Eh, too obvious. Shelley? Eh, it’s too sentimental.

[Gasps] Byron! Anna always loved byron. “When we two parted in silence and tears–”

Maggie: Tony, have you seen sarah?

Tony: No, not in the last couple hours.

Maggie: Well, I’m worried because I can’t find her anywhere.

[Knock at door]

Xander: Hold your horses. God. [Groans]

Sarah as renee: You and i need to talk, alex. And for god’s sake, put on some clothes!

Allie: Johnny, what is happening? Are you okay? Talk to me. I want to help. I love you.

Johnny: Leave me alone!

Allie: Are you sick? Okay, I’m gonna take you to the hospital.

Demon johnny: God! I said leave me alone!

Allie: Oh, my god.

Demon johnny: Why does everybody in this town insist on throwing that other guy’s name at me?

Allie: No.

Demon johnny: He’s never around when you need him and he’s such a bore. Am I right?

Allie: Johnny, you’re– you’re possessed.

Demon johnny: That’s right, sis. Ain’t it cool?

[Soft orchestration]

Demon johnny: Aww. You look so scared, twinsie. Can’t say I blame you. These eyes do take some getting used to. But that’s just the beginning of what I can do.

Allie: Leave my brother alone.

Demon johnny: Oh, come on. Don’t you want to see my powers up close? I can move things with my mind, do all sorts of cool tricks. Want me to make you levitate like your grandma?

Allie: No! Stay away from me.

Demon johnny: Your loss.

Allie: When did this even happen? Did you jump into johnny at aunt belle’s exorcism?

Demon johnny: That’s an interesting theory, but your twin bro wasn’t even in the room when I was supposedly cast out.

Allie: Supposedly?

Demon johnny: Between you and me… your aunt belle was never really possessed.

Allie: What?

Demon johnny: Yeah, that was just me framing your poor aunt to take the fall for my sins.

Allie: No, but chanel said that belle was choking my grandma marlena.

Demon johnny: Oh, I did take a short, little trip into belle’s body, but just for a few minutes. Other than that, I’ve been partying down in johnny town since christmas!

Allie: My god. Now everything johnny did makes sense. The way he was so cruel to chanel at their wedding reception.

Demon johnny: Yeah.

Allie: How he came on to gabi.

Demon johnny: All me.

Allie: How he broke up me and tripp up in a way that would cause the most pain and heartbreak.

Demon johnny: What can I say? I love my work.

Allie: You’ve stayed hidden all this time. You had us all fooled.

Demon johnny: I did, didn’t I?

Allie: So why reveal yourself to me now?

Demon johnny: [Sighs] To be honest? I wasn’t planning on it. You made me do this.

Allie: Me? How?

Demon johnny: Oh, all that talk about your special connection with your brother seems to have given him an invigorated energy to fight me from within. But that ends now.

Anna: I know this sounds terrible, but there are days when I wish tony was back in that urn. At least then, I could hold him close.

Abigail: Well, you know, those weren’t exactly tony’s ashes in the urn that you were carrying around.

Anna: Well, I’m well aware of that! I just didn’t know it then, obviously!

[Phone rings]

Abigail: Oh. You know what? It’s chad. Can you just give me a moment, please?

[Groaning sigh] Hey. Were you able to talk to rolf?

Chad: I was.

Abigail: Please tell me you have good news.

Maggie: Well, I came through the kitchen and sarah isn’t there and she isn’t in her bedroom.

Tony: Well, she couldn’t have strayed too far. I mean, she’s hardly left my side since I came to stay here.

Maggie: Well, maybe she’s somewhere else in the house. I don’t know.

Tony: Well, I think if we split up, we’ll be able to find her. I’ll take the west wing and you take the east wing.

Maggie: Okay, tony.

Xander: I’m happy to put on clothes and I’m even happier to talk to you, but I do wish you’d stop calling me alex.

Sarah as renee: Oh, here we go again.

Xander: My name is xander.

Sarah as renee: All right. I will call you whatever you want, as long as you sign your true name on these divorce papers, allowing me to be with the man that I love.

Xander: There’s only one problem with that.

Sarah as renee: What?

Xander: I’m the man you love.

I’ve got moderate to severe

plaque psoriasis.

Sarah as renee: How dare you say that you’re the man I love. Like I’m an idiot? Like I’ve forgotten what I discovered about you?

Xander: You’re speaking of someone else.

Sarah as renee: I’m speaking of a con artist, a heartless gold digger, which is none other than you, alex marshall.

Xander: But that’s not me. I’m xander cook. And sarah, what you and I had, it was very real. You were without a doubt the best thing that ever happened to me. You were the love of my–

[Door opens]

Gwen: What’s going on here?

Sarah as renee: Hello, gwen.

Gwen: Wait. You recognize her?

Maggie: Ah. No luck, I assume?

Tony: No, but I found this missive on my pillow. It’s in renee’s handwriting. She must’ve learned it by studying renee’s diary.

Maggie: So what does it say?

Tony: “When we two parted in silence and tears”– oh, my god. Oh. Maybe it was renee who had a passion for byron.

Maggie: Tony!

Tony: Oh, I’m sorry, i digress. Anyway, it finishes the verse and then it says, “tony, my beloved, not sharing a bed with you last night was torture. I did not sleep, just laid awake with dreams of holding you.” That’s quite poetic.

Maggie: Please. Go on. Are there any clues as to where she went?

Tony: “I cannot bear to continue this current arrangement, so I have to go about securing an immediate divorce from that wretch who stands between us, renee.” Well, that’s not good.

Maggie: You think she’s gone to confront anna?

Tony: Well, who else? I’d better get to the mansion before all hell breaks loose.

Maggie: Oh, god.

Anna: Years! I waited years for tony to come back to me and now this?

Chad: What’s going on with her?

Anna: Now a lunatic lays claim to his heart and he goes along with it?

Abigail: I believe you can call that wallowing. So okay, tell me about rolf.

Chad: Well, it wasn’t easy, but I was able to persuade the powers that be to allow rolf access to the infirmary.

Abigail: That’s great.

Anna: Even when I thought he was dead, I was faithful.

Abigail: Okay, here we go again. Um, sorry, just hold on. It’s hard to hear you with all of the– the moaning and the groaning!

Anna: I mean, I had many opportunities to stray, believe me.

Abigail: [Sighs]

Anna: Roman tried his best to woo me. But was I disloyal to tony’s memory? No, of course not, I would have none of it!

[Sighs]

Abigail: Okay, all right, I think she’s done a few seconds, anyway. So did you get rolf to agree?

Chad: Well, I just, you know, it took some sweet talking, remind him about his loyalty to my father and that I’m my mother’s favorite son.

Abigail: So do you have the antidote? Was he able to recreate it?

Chad: He did. I’m at the hospital now. They’re just running some tests to make sure the serum is safe to administer.

Anna: What does he think I am? Does he think I’m some sort of wilting daisy?

Abigail: Oh, god, I give up. Okay, I’m gonna have to let you go.

Chad: Seems like a good idea. Good luck to you.

Abigail: [Sighs] You, too.

Anna: How long? How long must I suffer this insult, this indignity?

Abigail: [Chuckles softly] Well, it might not have to be much longer, because that was chad. He went to the prison to see rolf and he has an antidote to the drug that sarah was injected with.

Anna: Oh! Why? Why didn’t you say so?

Abigail: What? I just did.

Anna: Oh, abigail! [Gasps] Oh, abigail! This means that renee dumonde is going to be dead and buried again! And I’m going to get my husband back!

Allie: I won’t let you hurt my brother.

Demon johnny: The whole twin magic thing, it’s real. I can feel it. But you won’t have any connection with johnny if he’s dead!

Allie: [Gasps]

Demon johnny: What the hell?

Allie: Johnny, I know you’re in there. I’m your sister and i love you. I have loved you since before you were born and I will love you until the day I die!

Demon johnny: Well, that shouldn’t be hard since that’s today. Now let go!

Allie: No, no! Never! Johnny, johnny! Johnny, do you remember the first day of school when we were five and aiden conroy was making fun of me for wearing my unicorn backpack on the bus? And you saw I was crying and you came over and he pushed you down?

Real johnny: I remember! I saw you were hurting and it made me so sad. I couldn’t let him do that to you.

Allie: And then I came over and I helped you up and we went on either side of him and we squeezed him until he begged us to stop! And then, and then no one at school dared to mess with us! No one at school dared to mess with us and they haven’t dared since, okay? Not when we work together!

Real johnny: Like we are now. Keep going, allie. Don’t let go!

Demon johnny: This isn’t gonna work! Now stop talking to him!

Allie: Johnny, johnny! Johnny, johnny, I will never let you go, but you need to fight, okay? You need to fight to come back to me, okay? We can fight together and we will send this son of a bitch straight back to hell! Right before mike decided to say yes…

Shawn: Hello.

Belle: Oh, hey. How was your day?

Shawn: Oh, I gotta say, it’s nice being back at my regular desk.

Belle: Oh, you don’t miss being the commish?

Shawn: No. I’m glad rafe’s back where he belongs.

Belle: Mm, and exonerated of those trumped-up charges.

Shawn: Yeah, right?

Belle: Any luck proving ava’s the one who set him up?

Shawn: No, no. Not yet, but I’m working on it.

Belle: Mm. Well, I am working on proving that ej was set up and finding that proof shouldn’t be too hard considering I’m the one who did it.

Maggie: You don’t think that sarah would actually hurt anna, do you?

Tony: No, but I think renee dumonde might.

Maggie: Oh.

Tony: [Sighs] I can’t take any chances.

Anna: There you are.

Tony: Anna, my love. I was just going to come looking for you. Renee left us this this note.

Anna: I don’t care about renee’s note, I don’t care about renee’s anything, because this little charade is about to come to an end.

Maggie: What do you mean?

Anna: [Sighs] Chad went to the prison and he convinced dr. Rolf to cook up an antidote to sarah’s condition.

Maggie: Really? Oh, my god! That’s wonderful! So where’s chad now?

Anna: He’s at the hospital getting it tested. So let’s wrap up ms. Dumonde in a butterfly net, drag her over there, shoot her up, and then we can all get back to reality.

Tony: Ah. Well, anna, you didn’t allow me to explain. Maggie and I thought that sarah was with you. So obviously, she’s not, so we have no idea where she is.

Sarah as renee: Of course I recognized this woman. She’s your lover, gwen!

Xander: And how exactly do you know gwen?

Sarah as renee: Oh, god! Can we please cut the pretense? Everyone knows you two are in cahoots!

Xander: Cahoots?

Sarah as renee: Yes! So how’s it going, ms. Davies?

Gwen: Uh, actually, it’s rizczech.

Sarah as renee: I beg your pardon?

Gwen: My name is gwen rizczech.

Sarah as renee: [Laughs] You got someone to marry you?

Gwen: No, I’m not married, see, I’m engaged. Rizczech is my maiden name.

Sarah as renee: [Sighs] Okay. Well, I know you as gwen davies, attorney-at-law, and it’s obvious that you’re working with alex here to steal my dimera fortune.

Gwen: What’s she on about?

Xander: I have absolutely no idea.

Sarah as renee: Well, that is not going to happen, so why don’t you peruse these divorce papers that I served him with and convince him to sign them so that he and I can be out of each other’s lives for good?

Abigail: Hey. Allie? A lot of folks ask me why their dishwasher

Abigail: Allie.

Allie: Oh. Abigail. It’s you. You scared me.

Abigail: Did you not just hear me say your name?

Allie: I was on my phone. I guess I was just kind of in my own world.

Abigail: Oh. Well, what are you doing here?

Allie: I was looking for my brother.

Abigail: Well, did you find him?

Allie: No. I guess johnny’s not here. I don’t know where he is.

Anna: You’ve lost sarah? How is that possible?

Tony: Well, we haven’t actually lost her. I mean, she must’ve gone somewhere. But she’s a grown woman and she’s free to come and go as she pleases.

Anna: Well, so now what? Do we call the cops?

[Phone ringing]

Maggie: Excuse me. Xander, uh, have you seen sarah?

Xander: Actually, I’M… looking at her right now.

Maggie: Really? [Chuckles] She’s with you? Oh.

Xander: Yeah, she came to my room at the salem inn.

Maggie: Oh, thank god. And, xander, I may have some good news, too.

Sarah as renee: Gwen, can you please convince alex to accept reality? He needs to know that there’s nothing between him and I. He needs to move on. I have.

Gwen: Hmm. Yes, as much as i would love for him to accept that reality, renee, I don’t think that alex is quite ready to let you go yet.

Sarah as renee: [Sighs]

Xander: So rolf is going to give chad the antidote?

Maggie: He’s already brought it to the hospital.

Xander: Maggie, that is the best news ever.

Maggie: Oh, I hope so, xander. Listen, tony and anna are here with me. Do you think that you could keep sarah there until we get to you?

Xander: She’s unlikely to listen to me. But I think I know a way to get her to come back home to you. Just sit tight. I’ll keep you posted. All right. Show me where to sign.

Sarah as renee: [Gasps] You had a change of heart.

Xander: I have indeed. I decided to finally accept reality.

Sarah as renee: Good for you. What made you change your mind?

Xander: Well, let’s just say I, uh… it’s time for me to say goodbye to renee dumonde. Take that to tony. I’m sure he’s waiting for you.

Sarah as renee: Alex, you’re a miserable bastard. You have just given me my life back, and for that, I am oh, so grateful.

Xander: You’re so welcome.

Sarah as renee: [Chuckles] Well, goodbye, gwen.

Gwen: See you, renee.

[Sighs] So what does this mean?

Xander: That was maggie on the phone. Chad hit paydirt at statesville. Rolf agreed to make an antidote for the drug.

Gwen: Wait, so that means that sarah might be back.

Xander: That’s exactly what it means. Like pulsing, electric shocks,

Xander: I’m dressed.

Gwen: So I see.

Xander: Gwen, I know it must’ve been awkward for you, walking in on sarah and me like that.

Gwen: What, with you wearing just a towel, holding sarah’s hand? Yeah, I think awkward isn’t the right word, really.

Xander: So what is the right word?

Gwen: I think you know. Seeing you with sarah makes me terribly jealous. How could it not? You have no response to that? All I get is just silence and this sad look on your face like you feel really sorry for me.

Xander: Gwen, I don’t feel sorry for you.

Gwen: No? Well, I feel sorry for me. Although the real love of your life is mad as a hatter, she’s still just that.

Xander: Just what?

Gwen: The real love of your life.

Xander: Gwen, listen to me. Hey. Hey, look at me. I have a past. So do you. But mine’s just a little bit more complicated because the woman I thought i was going to marry got kidnapped. And I thought that she didn’t love me anymore. But it turns out that that wasn’t true. So please, just try and put yourself in my shoes. See it from my perspective.

Gwen: [Sniffles] What I see from your perspective is that you never have, nor will you ever feel as passionately about me as you did, as you still do, about sarah. Oh, god, your silence is absolute torture for me. I mean, honestly, xander, I’d rather you just lie to me than just sit there and not say anything.

Xander: I can’t lie to you. I won’t–I won’t lie to you. Gwen, all I tell you is that I love you. You’re so very important to me and I hate that this situation is causing you so much pain.

Gwen: Okay, well, moving right along then, shall we? What’s next? [Clears throat] You say that chad’s using his dead daddy to guilt rolf into helping sarah? [Sniffles] I mean, do you think she’s going to go along with it? Because from what I’ve seen of her, renee dumonde would never want to take an antidote.

Xander: Definitely not. That’s up to tony and maggie to convince her to go back to the hospital now, but that’s why I’ve decided that–

Gwen: That what?

Xander: That I need to be there as well.

Gwen: Right. Of course.

Xander: Gwen, look, I’m–

Gwen: No, no. You know what? Don’t apologize. Don’t apologize. I–[Sighs] I’ve been selfishly indulgent in my own self-pity and I– I haven’t acknowledged that this is… this is all so very difficult for you. And I do understand that you have a certain… loyalty to sarah.

Xander: That means a lot. Can I hug you now?

Gwen: [Sighs] God, have i ever said no to one of your hugs?

[Both sigh] Oh, xander, you are everything to me. I know I’m not really supposed to say a thing like that because it makes me sound clingy and needy. I know it does. And women, especially, are advised to not say things that make them sound clingy and needy because it’s, um… quite unattractive.

Xander: Well, I’m attracted to everything about you, gwen. And I’ve been feeling very lucky that you’ve been needing me, clinging to me. You might’ve noticed that I’ve needed you, too. I can be quite clingy myself sometimes.

Gwen: Then if you need me, and if you need to cling to me… I need to ask this of you.

Xander: Go on.

Gwen: If the antidote doesn’t work, if sarah doesn’t come back as sarah, can you promise to just her go and marry me?

Maggie: Assuming that this antidote is safe, how on earth are we gonna convince sarah to take it?

Anna: Easy. We don’t give her a choice.

Maggie: Well, we can’t force her, anna!

Anna: Why not? Maggie, this is for her own good. I mean, really, do you think sarah wants to live the rest of her life as a dead woman?

Sarah as renee: What is she doing here?

Tony: Oh, renee, there you are. Oh, anna just came to pay us a visit. And to help us out.

Anna: Help you out?

Sarah as renee: It better be a brief visit.

Tony: Yes, of course.

Sarah as renee: In the meantime, tony, I have the most wonderful news. Alex agreed to sign the divorce papers. I’m a free woman.

Tony: Oh. What a happy coincidence, because I was trying to explain to you why anna was here to help us out. She, too, signed our divorce papers.

Anna: What the?

Xander: Since sarah’s return, I’ve asked you to put up with a lot of uncertainty. I realize that, gwen. I wake up sometimes in the middle of the night hating myself for putting you through this.

Gwen: No. This isn’t your fault. None of it is.

Xander: Well, even so, there’s a part of me that just wishes that–

Gwen: That you love me with all your heart.

Xander: No, I wasn’t going to put it that way.

Gwen: But you don’t, do you? Part of your heart still belongs to her. Doesn’t it? To sarah.

Xander: Part of my heart is aching, I’ll admit, because a woman I once loved is–well, she was very cruelly robbed of– of many months of her life.

Gwen: And robbed of you, which is really, really terribly sad.

Xander: Gwen, let’s get back to your question. You asked me if I would let go of sarah and marry you if the antidote doesn’t work.

Gwen: That was the question, yes.

Xander: And I think it’s a very fair one.

Gwen: I don’t think that’s an answer.

Xander: It isn’T. I’m sorry. I–I know it. So please bear with me while I try and express this properly. I not only love you, gwen, so much, I– I think of you as my best friend. The person who got me through a dreadful time in my life, and I’m beyond grateful that you’ve been so patient with me while I try and figure all this out.

Gwen: So your answer?

Xander: So my answer… is yes. If this antidote fails, sarah isn’t herself again, then… I will let her go. Then if you’ll still have me, you and I will be married.

Gwen: [Chuckles] Oh, xander, my darling. My love. My god, I’d be so lost without you.

[Soft dramatic music]

Sarah as renee: Is it true? You’re divorcing her?

Tony: [Chuckles] Yes, it’s true.

Sarah as renee: Oh, tony!

[Both chuckle] Oh, we’re free to both be married.

Tony. Yes, yes, my love. As a matter of fact, why don’t we do it today?

Anna: Today?

Sarah as renee: Yes! Yes! Oh, a thousand times, yes! Why spend another night apart?

Tony: Why indeed?

Sarah as renee: [Laughs] How will it work? Should we go to city hall?

[Gasps] Perhaps maggie could be our witness.

Maggie: Well, I–

Tony: You know what? My good friend, marlena, she’s an ordained minister.

Sarah as renee: She’ll marry us?

Tony: Oh, she’d be more than honored.

Sarah as renee: [Laughs]

Maggie: That’s a lovely idea.

Sarah as renee: Yes.

Tony: Yeah, the only thing, actually, to secure the marriage license…what we need is to get a blood test.

Anna: Oh, a blood test.

Sarah as renee: Oh. A blood test.

Maggie: Well, we can get it right away at the hospital. I’ll call ahead.

Sarah as renee: Oh, wonderful! Well, then what are we waiting for? Come on!

[Both chuckling]

Maggie: I’m calling ahead.

[Chuckles]

Abigail: You know, it doesn’t really seem like anybody else is here. I mean, chad is at the hospital, anna just left, and tony’s staying at the kiriakis mansion. But I did see johnny’s car.

Allie: Oh.

Abigail: Are you sure you’re all right? You just– you seem like you’re a little off.

Allie: I’m–I’m just upset. Johnny and I, I mean, you know how close we’ve been our entire lives. And we just haven’t been getting along since christmas. I was hoping to come over here and work things out.

Abigail: Hmm. Well, do you want to talk about it?

Allie: Not much to say. He just hasn’t been himself lately. I mean, I was hoping that we could just have it out.

Abigail: Fight the way only siblings can?

Allie: Exactly. I mean, when we go at it, we do not hold back. And I love that, but there’s always the chance one of us ends up dead on the floor.

Abigail: [Chuckles] Well, let’s hope it doesn’t get that far.

Allie: Of course. I was just joking.

Abigail: [Sighs]

Tony: Well, the nurse should be along soon.

Sarah as renee: Well, as soon as we get our blood test results, we can get on with our wedding.

Tony: [Chuckles] I can hardly wait.

Sarah as renee: Me either. Especially because it’s been really difficult coming back home to salem, with everyone treating me like there’s something wrong with me. But sitting here with you, with our entire futures ahead of us… I finally feel like myself. I feel safe.

Tony: Oh. I’m so glad. Because all I want for you is to be happy.

Sarah as renee: Tony, you are the most kind, loving man. Thank you for standing by my side. And now for making my dreams come true.

Anna: Where is chad?

Xander: How long’s it take to travel two floors from the lab?

[Elevator bell rings] Chad, you have it?

Chad: Here it is.

Anna: You have the antidote?

Maggie: And this is a single dose?

Chad: Rolf said it should work relatively quickly, so before long, sarah should be her old self again.

Anna: Well, then, what are we waiting for? Let’s go give it to her!

Maggie: Wait. What did the lab say? Is it safe?

Chad: They ran some preliminary tests and the unofficial opinion is that it is.

Maggie: Unofficial?

Chad: Well, in order to fully vet it, they would have to run through all the proper safety trials before testing it on humans.

Xander: And how long would that take?

Chad: Months, maybe years.

Xander: Years?

Anna: Years of renee dumonde? No way.

Chad: But maggie, we both know that rolf’s work goes far beyond the boundaries of regular science, but he swore to me on my father’s grave that it would work.

Maggie: Chad, rolf is a madman.

Chad: He is, but he was absolutely loyal to stefano.

Anna: You have to do this, maggie.

Xander: For sarah.

Chad: Maggie, sarah is your daughter. You’re the only one that can make this call.

Belle: I still don’t understand why the devil went after ej.

Shawn: I always thought the dimeras were in league with satan.

Belle: [Chuckles] Well, from what I can tell, his only goal is to create chaos and pain. And that starts by ripping apart all of salem’s happy couples.

Shawn: And this time, he went after sami and ej.

Belle: Mm. And paulina and abe, and gabi and jake. I mean, he even went after our marriage when he’d turned jan into me on christmas eve.

Shawn: Oh, god, please don’t remind me.

Jan: Oops.

Belle: Thank god I walked in before you slept with her.

[Notification chimes]

Shawn: Listen, belle.

Belle: Oh, it’s the warden. It says a prisoner wants to speak with me.

Shawn: Is it ej?

Belle: Must be. You know, I should probably give him an update. See you at home?

Shawn: Yeah, see you at home.

Belle: Okay.

Shawn: Bye.

Abigail: You know, my sister gwen and I, were not raised together, but I can certainly relate to how heated things can get between siblings because my brother, jj and I, we have had our battles over the years.

Allie: The bond between johnny and me is so strong. No matter what happens, we’ll always be connected.

Abigail: Do you want me to go see if I can find him?

Allie: Yes, I’d appreciate that.

Abigail: Okay.

[Sinister music]

Demon allie: Well, johnny boy, it was fun while it lasted, but I have a new evil twin to play with, so what am i going to do with you? To be a thriver with metastatic breast cancer means…

Abigail: Allie?

[Wind howling]

[Suspenseful music]

Chad: It’s freezing in here.

Abigail: I know. My cousin allie was just here, but she must’ve left.

Chad: What? Through the back?

Abigail: Pfft, it looks like it. She came looking for johnny, he wasn’t here, and I guess she gave up. Anyway, tell me about rolf and the antidote.

Chad: Well, I gave the shot to maggie so it up to her whether she gives it to sarah or not. I have no idea what she’s gonna do.

Anna: You aren’t seriously considering waiting?

Xander: Maggie, you hear chad before. The lab said the antidote is safe.

Maggie: The lab also said that it should be put through proper testing.

Anna: Which could take years.

Maggie: I want my daughter back more than anything, but I don’t want to risk her health and her wellbeing for selfish reasons. We’ve got to be sure that what’s in this syringe, it won’t hurt her.

Sarah as renee: What the hell is taking that nurse so damn long?

Tony: [Chuckles] Patience, darling. We have the rest of our lives.

Gwen: Xander… after everything we’ve been through, I can’t lose you to sarah.

Xander: Maggie, shall we call a nurse to administer the antidote?

Maggie: Hold on.

Anna: For what?

Sarah as renee: Nurse? Nurse?

Tony: Come on, darling.

Sarah as renee: What is the delay? We just need a simple blood test!

Tony: Why don’t you come back to the room?

Sarah as renee: What are you doing here?

[Laughs] I know what you’re doing.

Anna: Do you?

Sarah as renee: Yes, you’re trying to stop the wedding but you just need to admit it. You lost. Tony and I are in love and we’re getting married. As soon as I find someone in this damn hospital to stick me with a needle.

Anna: Why don’t I do it?

Maggie: [Gasps] Anna!

Jan: Hello, counselor. Thanks for coming.

Belle: Mm. Well, if I’d known the prisoner who wanted to see me was you, I most certainly would not have come.

Jan: Aw. That hurts my feelings.

Belle: You and I have nothing to talk about, jan.

Jan: Oh, I think we do!

Gabi: Jake, wait, hold on. Are we really gonna end things like this?

Nicole: HI, rafe, it’s me. I was hoping to catch you. Listen, I ran into abe, and he’s having a really rough time. I was hoping maybe we could invite him to dinner. Just give me a call when you get a chancE. Bye. I love you.

Ava: I love you, too. Oh. You weren’t talking to me?

Paulina: So, if the dealer who shot eli doesn’t use drugs, how’d he od?

Rafe: That’s the million-dollar question.

Tr: He just shot a cop. Maybe he was looking for a quick exit.

Rafe: Well, he had a gun. That’d be a bit quicker.

Tr: But a lot less enjoyable.

Rafe: Hmm. Well, lani seems to think it was an accidental overdose, which seems unlikely to me, considering he had no priors.

Tr: Well, just ’cause he didn’t have any priors doesn’t mean he wasn’t using, right? I mean, maybe he thought a hit would calm him dowN.

Rafe: Hmm, maybe.

Paulina: But you don’t buy it.

Rafe: Well, something just doesn’t sit right with me.

Tr: Well, we know he od’D. Does it really matter why? That animal shot my son-in-law! Unless you’re suggesting that he didn’T.

[Monitor beeping]

Lani: Thank you for the flowers, chanel. They’re-they’re really beautiful.

Chanel: I know elI can’t really enjoy them right now, but I figured it brightens up the room.

Lani: Definitely.

Chanel: Mom says you’ve been here, like, 24/7.

LanI: As much as I can be.

Chanel: Yeah, so how– can I help? You need doughnut delivery? Help with the kids? Anything?

LanI: Thank you, but we got it covereD. Your, um–paulina has been all over iT. Cleaning my apartment too. She called earlier and said that she was organizing my spice rack.

Lani: Everyone has been really supportive. Even tr came to see eli.

Chanel: Your bio dad. Really? Is that–is that something you wanted?

Lani: I mean, I will take all the support I can right now.

Chanel: Yeah, it’s just, you know, just a few weeks ago, everyone was acting like that guy was the devil himself.

Lani: Yeah.

Allie: Did you hear what i said? Turn around and face me, you son of a bitch.

Johnny: I’m busy.

Allie: Well, I need to talk to you, johnny. What’s the problem? Can’t look me in the eye?

Johnny: Go away!

Allie: Fine, if you don’t want to turn around, I’ll make you!

Rafe: No, I don’t mean to suggest that someone besides frank shot eli.

Tr: What are you suggesting?

Rafe: I’m just saying that something doesn’t feel right, that’s all.

Paulina: Oh, I can see how determined you are. Eli is lucky to have you on the case.

Rafe: Well, eli’s been a good friend to me. And I owe it to him to find out the whole story. Why he was in the park, and why he got shot.

Paulina: Well, I have faith that you will turn over every stone to uncover the truth.

LanI: Ray–tr–he swears he’s a changed man.

Chanel: And you believe him?

Lani: I mean, i was skeptical at first, but, i mean, paulina has these awful stories from the past, but he’s gone through treatment and therapy, and even paulina admits that he’s a changed maN.

Chanel: Yeah, when I first met him, I never would have guessed that that was the guy that mama’s been running from for half of her life. He almost seems nice. He even did allie and me a huge favoR.

Lani: What did he do?

Chanel: He agreed to let allie and I out of our contracts as actors in johnny’s movie.

Lani: That would have been really awkward, if not a nightmare.

Chanel: There’s no way I could work with johnny now. I can’t even believe I thought he ever loved me.

Johnny: What is so damn important that we have to talk about it right now?

Allie: You told tripp that chanel and I are together.

Johnny: Yeah, so?

Allie: Why would you do that?

Johnny: I didn’t realize it was a secret–you guys were all over each other in the middle of the square.

Allie: It’s not that it’s a secret, johnny, but I wanted to tell tripp myself.

Johnny: I guess I didn’t realize you hadn’t yet.

Allie: Do not act innocenT. You knew that I hadn’t told him I slept with chanel when I accepted his proposal.

Johnny: Oh. So now it’s my fault that you cheated on him.

Allie: No, no, I own that! But lately, it is like you are enjoying watching my life fall apart. Like you are doing everything possible to make sure that happens. Why?

Gabi: Jake, i am so sorry. So, so sorry for how I treated you. I truly believed that you betrayed me firsT.

Jake: But you didn’t think to ask me about it, give me the benefit of the doubt?

GabI: Doubt–what are you talking about? I heard you talking with maggie stabbing me in the back.

Jake: Except it wasn’t me.

Gabi: How was I supposed to know that? The devil using belle to morph into you? It’s not exactly my bingo card.

Jake: It’s not about that, gabi, it’s about how you handled it, right? And instead of asking me about it, you lied. You lied, and you plotted with johnnY. And you singlehandedly destroyed our relationship, my career, my future.

Gabi: I regret all of that. I’ll figure out a way to fix this.

Jake: There’s no fixing iT. Because for us to fall apart as quickly as we did, it made me realize one thing, and that’s that we had a fundamental problem between us from the very beginning, and I think I know what it was.

Gabi: Jake, what are you talking about?

Jake: StefaN. You always wanted me to be stefan, but guess what? I’m not, and I never will be.

Gabi: What? I never wanted you to be him.

Jake: Face it, gabi. All I’ll ever be to you is a pale imitation of my twin brother.

GabI: That is not true.

Jake: Really? Then why is it that you won’t take that necklace off, huh? The necklace with his ring on it.

Gabi: ‘Cause I li–I like it, and it’s honoring his memory.

Jake: Right. Well, whatever the reason is, gabi, we’re broken. And there’s no fixing us.

Gabi: Jake, wait, where are you staying?

Jake: My old place over the garagE. Because it’s available, it’s cheap, and it’s the only thing I can afford, thanks to you.

Gabi: Jake–

Jake: So long, gabi.

Ava: So already at the “i love you” stage, huh? Well, that didn’t take long. But of course, you’ve been hiding your feelings for a long time, right?

Nicole: I’m sorry, ava, I am.

Ava: No, you’re not.

Nicole: Well, I’m about as sorry as you are for setting up rafe for a crime he didn’t commit.

Ava: Clever.

Nicole: It’s too bad your revenge plot wasn’t clever enough. And despite all your efforts, rafe was acquitted on all charges.

Ava: Oh, good for him. Yeah, yeah.

Nicole: So what are you gonna do with all this pent-up anger?

Ava: Well, guess we’re just gonna have to wait and find ouT.

Nicole: Oh, come on. Ava, will you stop it already? If you’re gonna come at me, then come at me.

Ava: You really mean that?

Nicole: I do–just have the guts to do it to my face.

Ava: Okay.

Nicole: Ow!

Ava: That looked like it stung. I’d apologize, but you did tell me to bring it to your face.

Ava: You regretting that now?

Nicole: No, actuallY. I’m glad the gloves are coming off, because now I won’t regret doing this.

Jake: Whoa, whoa, whoA. Ladies, ladies, ladies. What are you doing? What are you doing, huh? Hey. Come oN.

Paulina: Lani said eli wasn’t even working on this case when he got shot.

Rafe: That’s right. You know, in fact, mr. Coates, I just spoke with your ex-girlfriend beth about that very question.

Tr: Really? Why?

Rafe: Well, because eli was interviewing her right before the shooting, so you know, i thought perhaps she could provide some insight as to why he suddenly left the station and went to the park.

Tr: Did she know anything?

Rafe: No, unfortunately. All he said was that he had to take care of something.

Tr: That’s too bad.

Rafe: Yeah, it is. But I’ll keep on digging.

Paulina: Well, we don’t want to keep you if you have work to do.

Rafe: Thank you, yeah, I actually do have to get back to the station.

Paulina: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Well, thank you–thank you for the update, commissioner.

Rafe: Yeah–rafE.

Paulina: Thank you, rafe.

Rafe: Yeah.

Tr: Nice meeting you.

Rafe: Yeah, you too. You know, actually, lani says that you have changed, and, well, for her sake, I hope she’s right.

Lani: So you’re still hurting over johnny?

Chanel: I don’t have feelings for him anymore. I just, I can’t get over how wrong I was about him. Allie’s pretty much done with him too.

Lani: And what happened with tripp? He seemed upset when you came in.

Chanel: Yeah. Yeah, he’s pretty angry with me.

Lani: Why? What happened?

Chanel: Well, turns out that johnny took it upon himself to tell tripp that allie and I are a couple now.

Lani: Wait, what?

Johnny: Look, call me crazy, but I thought tripp had a right to know that you guys were doing the down and dirty behind his back. You know, bro code.

Allie: Oh, bro code? I’m your sister, johnny.

Johnny: Yeah. And when you do bad stuff, I’m gonna call you out.

Allie: I agree that tripp had a right to know. But I was going to break it to him gently.

Johnny: Oh yeah? When?

Allie: This is not your business.

Johnny: Actually, it is, because you see, chanel is still my wife, and she’s cheating on me with my twin sister.

Allie: Your marriage is over. You threw it away.

Johnny: Still, you can imagine how that makes me look.

Allie: Oh, is it humiliating for you? Good. I mean, after the way you humiliated chanel by dumping her in front of her entire family, you don’t get to play the victim.

Johnny: Look, we’ve already talked about this, right? You’re the one who’s always saying I’m a jerk, i’m a player. You even warned chanel about me.

Allie: Yeah, and she should have listened.

Johnny: Well, you got what you want–her. So what do you want from me?

[Knock at door]

Gabi: Oh, sonny.

Sonny: Hey.

Gabi: Thank you, uh, for stopping bY. Your text came in right when I needed it.

Sonny: Are you okay?

GabI: I will be. Come on in. You said you, uh, you had something from ari.

Sonny: Oh, right, yeah. She was really upset she couldn’t give this to you before she went back to phoenix.

Gabi: Oh, are you kidding me? Oh, this is so sweet, and it’s– it’s beautiful.

Sonny: Gabi, gabi, hey. It’s okay, okay? It’s just a bracelet. I know you miss her. But ari and will will be back.

GabI: It’s not just that. It’s my whole life. It’s jake.

Jake: Hey, hey, come on, ladies. What are you–what are you trying to do, kill each other?

Nicole: Not exactly.

Ava: Let’s just say I figured it out, all right? And finally, rafe had the decency to break up with me.

Jake: Wow. Now, what, they’re, like, a real couple?

Ava: Now they’re in love.

Jake: Woof. SorrY.

Ava: Yeah, well, your girlfriend’s gonna be over the moon. Hey, her brother finally got rid of me.

Jake: Girlfriend. Yeah, gabi and I broke up.

Ava: Really? What happened?

Jake: You know, your cheek looks like it’s kind of bruised.

Ava: Is this your way of avoiding the subject?

Jake: It’s my way of saying how about we go inside and find you some ice, maybe sit down, swap war stories over a drink?

Ava: Yeah. Could definitely use a drink.

LanI: You and allie have been seeing each other.

Chanel: Mm-hmm.

LanI: Since when, chanel?

Chanel: It’s pretty new.

Lani: [Stammers] Sorry I seem so surpriseD. I just, I’ve–I’ve always thought she was–

Chanel: Straight?

Lani: Yes.

Chanel: Well, she actually identifies as bi. And who knows, maybe I am too. I’ve never really done the whole label thinG.

LanI: Okay, so, how did it happen? I mean, not how did– how did it happen, you know–

Chanel: I know what you mean.

LanI: Okay.

[Chuckles]

Chanel: Well, i think there’s-there’s always been feelings, but, you know, allie was with tripp, and i was with johnnY. But, you know, now that we’re both single, we figured we’d explore those feelings and see what happens.

LanI: Okay. How’s it going?

Chanel: So far, so good.

Lani: GooD. That’s really good. But you’re totally over johnny.

Chanel: I’m still, you know, hurt by what he did. I really did love hiM. But he’s just not the guy I thought I married.

Johnny: According to you, wasn’t I always just an insensitive jerk?

Allie: No, you were a player. I mean, I remember times where you were juggling three girls, and you would have sydney lie for you. But you weren’t cruel. I mean, I always thought that there was a heart underneath there.

Johnny: And you don’t think I have a heart now?

Allie: I just want to know why you’re acting like such a jerk. Okay, yeah, you and i used to bicker.

Johnny: Well, that’s one word for it. I think I still have a bald spot on my head from where you took out a fistful of haiR.

Allie: Okay, yeah, we fought, a lot, but through it all, I always felt like there was this connection. I mean, I swear, sometimes I felt like I could read your mind. And now I-I don’t feel that connection anymore. It’s like it’s gone.

Johnny: I’m sorry to hear you say that.

Allie: Okay, no, don’t just blow me off! Who are you? Where is the brother that I love?

Real johnny: I’m here, allie! I’m right here, but he won’t let me out!

Tr: You ask me, that cop was wasting his time. Like you said, they already have their man. Who cares why that loser od’d?

Paulina: I think everyone just wants to know for sure what happened to eli.

Tr: Huh.

[Phone beeps]

Tr: Text from one of my producers. Crisis with the moviE. Look, I gotta go put out a fire, but I hate leaving you alone here with the kids.

Paulina: Well, they’re asleep. I think I can handle it.

Tr: Well, if you do need to call, you can call me anytime. I mean it.

Paulina: I know. I know you’re a busy man.

Rafe: Thanks, abe. I will let you know what I find out. We’ll be in toucH.

Nicole: Hey.

Rafe: Hey, there.

Nicole: Hi.

Nicole: Oh, mm.

Rafe: What’s wrong?

Nicole: Oh, I’m just a bit sore on this side of my face.

Rafe: What happened?

Nicole: I had a little run-in with ava.

Ava: So you want to tell me what happened with you and gabi?

Jake: How much time you got?

Ava: Come on. It can’t be that complicated.

Jake: Well, the devil impersonated me so that gabi would think I betrayed her.

Ava: Are you serious?

GabI: Oh yeah. Add on top of that that I think she’s still in love with my dead twin brother.

Ava: Okay. Pretty complicated.

Jake: Yeah, but you know what’s simple? We’re done, me and gabi. That’s it. Just picked up the last of my stuff from her house.

Ava: So rafe hasn’t changed the locks yet, huh?

Jake: Ah, not yet.

Ava: You know, I know that I’m probably supposed to have a sad face and tell you how sorry I am, but I would much rather buy you a glass of champagne and congratulate you for finally getting away from that snake.

Gabi: Jake thinks I only fell in love with him because he reminded me of stefan.

Sonny: Yeah, but that’s– that’s not true, is it?

Gabi: No, of course not. I do understand why he didn’t believe me. When I first met him, I really did think it was stefan, and I desperately wanted him to bE.

Sonny: And that’s very understandablE. You thought your husband was back from the dead.

GabI: Yeah, and then, when i found out that he wasn’t, I really did fall in love with jake for who he really waS. Well, at least I thought i did.

Sonny: You’re second-guessing yourself.

GabI: Jake is right about one thing: The minute I thought he betrayed me, I turned on him so fasT. Maybe I didn’t fall in love with him for who he really was. Maybe-maybe I was just waiting for him to let me down.

Allie: Is something wrong?

Real johnny: Allie, can you hear me? I’m in here! It’s me!

Allie: Johnny, why are you acting like this? I mean, why in god’s name did you marry chanel if you didn’t love her?

Real johnny: I did love her!

Johnny: Because I knew it would get to you.

Allie: So you’re saying that you married chanel just to hurt mE.

Johnny: I’m just doing what I’ve always done. Like when I used to take your toys, you’d scream your head off.

Allie: Okay, you were two years old. You are a grown man now, and this is so not normaL. I mean, I can’t believe that you’re talking like thiS.

Real johnny: Because it’s not me, allie! Can’t you see?

Allie: Wait a minutE. I know what’s going on herE.

Ava: Well, since it is pretty sad that you were frozen out of your family’s company, beer’s on me.

Jake: Thanks, but you should probably keep the ice on your face so that it doesn’t swell up. Come on, tough guy.

Ava: Thanks. So where you going with that?

Jake: Oh, staying at my old place over the garage since ben and ciara moved out. What about you? Where are you staying?

Ava: Meh, i’ve just been lying low.

Jake: That’s right, I heard something about you being wanted by police.

Ava: Okay, they got nothing on me. But I was staying at a motel in brookville. I only came out when I heard that rafe was let out of jail.

Jake: Oh. So you’re gonna get back together?

Ava: No. No, me and rafe, we’re through. In fact, he is convinced that I set him up on those charges because he cheated on me.

Jake: Did you? Hmm?

Rafe: Ava hit you?

Nicole: Yeah.

Rafe: You’re here to press charges.

Nicole: No. No, I’m here to see you.

Rafe: Are you sure?

Nicole: Look, i definitely dared her to push me, and I went at her just as hard.

Rafe: You–nicole, you– oh, my god, you can’t do that, okay?

Nicole: I know, okay, I know! I know, I know, I know, I know, I know I should have controlled myself, but it’s just driving me crazy not knowing what ava’s gonna do to punish us next.

Rafe: Okay. Listen to me, okay? Next time you see her, call me, okay?

Nicole: I did. I did call you earlier. I left a message.

Rafe: Oh shoot, that’s right. I’m sorry, I turned my phone off and I meant to call you. I just, I was working on eli’s casE.

Nicole: I thought you knew who shot eli.

Rafe: Well, we do. There are just, uh, some unanswered questions.

LanI: I really hope you and allie will be happy together.

Chanel: Thanks, sis.

[Phone beeps]

Lani: Oh, I didn’t even realize how late it is. Eli is scheduled for some tests. I’m sure the nurse will be in here kicking us out any minute.

Chanel: Well, what about you? Do you need anything?

LanI: No, i’m good. I’m gonna duck out of here and go see the kids while I have a chancE.

Chanel: Kiss them for me, will you?

LanI: Of course. And thank you for the flowers.

Chanel: YeaH. And lani, I am so sorry that you’re going through this.

Lani: Everyone keeps saying that. But the only person who needs to be sorry is the criminal who shot my husband in cold blood.

Beth: I got your message. What’s going on?

Tr: I heard you paid a visit to the police commissioner.

Beth: Yeah, he needed me to come and sign my statement.

Tr: Then you stuck to our deal?

Beth: I didn’t tell him that you were a drug user or about the abuse.

Tr: Well, that I know. Because the commissioner sure as hell would have mentioned it if you had. But I need to make sure that you’re gonna continue to keep your mouth shut. He’s asking a lot of questions about elI grant’s shooting.

Beth: What do you care? You said you had nothing to do with that, right?

Tr: You know you can’t trust the police. I need to know I can count on you. Or things could get dicey– for both of us.

Johnny: What do you mean you know what’s really going on?

Allie: You’re saying all these horrible things, but underneath it all, it’s like–it’s like I can still feel the real you.

Real johnny: Yes, allie. Come oN. You can sense me. I know you can. Just like always.

Allie: You’re trying to push me away because there’s something going on, and you don’t want me to know.

Real johnny: You’re right. He doesn’t want you to know I’m here–the real mE. Let me out, you bastard!

Allie: Johnny, what is going on? Are you all right?

 

Jake: So if I were to look up the names of perps who implicated rafe, would i recognize them from back in the day, or…?

Ava: Of course noT. You know no one uses their real names.

Jake: Right.

Ava: Anyway, I didn’t say it was me who set up rafe.

Jake: Didn’t say that you didn’T.

Ava: Look, if I were to tell you that it was me, that’d make you an accessory after the fact. I’d never do that to you.

Jake: Hmm! All heart, this one. Look at yoU.

Ava: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Anyway, I know how hard you’ve been working to put your life of crime behind you.

Jake: Just like you.

Ava: Exactly.

Jake: Well, here’s to us, huh? Two former business associates trying to walk the straight and narrow.

Ava: Ah. The straight and narrow.

Nicole: So before he went to the park, eli had checked up on lani’s father, who, apparently, back in the day, was a piece of garbage.

Rafe: Yeah, but tr, he claims to have turned his life around, a claim actually supported by his most recent ex, and paulina and lani think it might be true.

Nicole: Well, good on him, if it sticks. But like i was telling abe earlier, in my experience, it is rare that guys like that change their stripes.

Rafe: Yeah.

Beth: Why do I feel like you’re threatening me?

Tr: I’m just trying to point out the opportunity costs. You still want to be in my movie, right?

Beth: Yes, of course I do. And I had a really great meeting with the directoR.

Tr: What’d you tell dimera about me?

Beth: I stuck to the story. But he was asking a lot of questions about how I got hired.

Tr: What kind of questions?

Beth: Well, apparently, mr. Dimera gets final say on all casting. He wanted to know why you hired me without his input.

Tr: And what’d you say?

Beth: I didn’t sleep with tr. I swear. All I did was agree to keep quiet about his past.

Johnny: What past?

Beth: He assumed I traded sexual favors to get the role. I didn’t correct his assumptions.

Tr: I hope you’re telling the trutH. Because if paulina finds out that I’m not as reformed as I said, this whole film could go to hell.

Allie: Johnny, are you all right?

Johnny: I’m fine.

Real johnny: I’m not fine. Allie! Help me!

Allie: Okay, what’s wrong?

Johnny: Will you shut up?

Allie: No, I will not shut up! I’m trying to help you!

Johnny: I wasn’t talking to you!

Allie: Well, then, who the hell are you talking to?

Sonny: Hey, your cheeks are kind of flusheD. Are you feeling okay?

Gabi: I’ve been betteR.

Sonny: You’re kind of warm. Okay, how about you get in the bed? I’ll make you some tea.

Gabi: Thank you. You’re the best. I don’t think, uh, tea’s gonna do the trick.

Sonny: Look, I’ve seen you rally over and over agaiN. Okay, you will get over jake.

GabI: It’s not just jake. You know, kate–kate told me that I am doomed to be alone. She pointed out that I have ousted every single person at dimera that cares for me, and she’s not wrong, sonny.

Sonny: [Laughs] Okay, well, rule number one: Never listen to kate dimerA.

GabI: I know, I knoW.

Sonny: And rule number two: You are not alone. Okay, you have ari. You have will. You’ve got your brother. And you have me.

Jake: So where to now? Back to brookville? Philly, what?

Ava: Ah, no, no, no. I’m staying here because my son is here, so I’ll be in salem.

Jake: You gonna get a place of your own?

Ava: I’m not really sure yet. Can’t really have tripp see me digging into my inheritance to pay the renT.

Jake: Could probably stay with him for a while, yeah?

Ava: I don’t think that’ll be such a good idea since he lives with his father and kayla.

Jake: Ah. Well, look, it’s not much, but, uh, you’re welcome to stay at my place, you know, just while you’re figuring things out.

Ava: Yeah, you don’t really mean that.

Jake: No, no, seriously. You’d probably be doing me a favor, as long as you help out with rent or, at minimum, keep the fridge stocked with beer at all times.

Ava: And you know, I’m a pretty good cook too, so.

Jake: Is that a yes?

Ava: I don’t really have many other options, so, um. You sure?

Jake: Slainte.

Ava: Salud.

Nicole: Rafe, I am sure you’re gonna figure out the whole story of eli’s shooting.

Rafe: I just wish I knew why he left that day. And how he ended up facing the drug dealer that shot hiM.

Nicole: And you can’t find any witnesses?

Rafe: No. Not so far. I mean, at this point, eli’s the only one who knows what really happened.

Tr: I’m a little over-leveraged right now. I had to move some money around to cover some debts.

Beth: What does paulina have to do with that? Unless–are you trying to get back with your ex because she’s rich? Oh, is that how you’re gonna finance the film?

Tr: Let’s just say it’s in your best interest to keep your mouth shut. Paulina needs to believe that I am a totally changed man.

Beth: Ah, so you can get your hands on her moneY.

Paulina: Oh. Lani, sweetheart. How are you doing?

LanI: I’m hanging in there. I hope the kids behaved for you.

Paulina: Toddlers don’t behave; they just are. You know, like hurricanes.

Lani: Well, that doesn’t sound good.

Paulina: I love them to death, you know thaT. They just ran around here, tired themselves out, and now they’re sleeping like angels.

Lani: Mm, did dad leave?

Paulina: You mean abe?

LanI: Of course I mean abe.

Paulina: RighT. It’s just that, uh, ray was here when he arrived.

Lani: And how did dad react?

Paulina: Not well. He was upset. He didn’t stay long.

Lani: He’s convinced that ray is bad news.

Paulina: Yeah, I can understand that. But you know, it really does seem like the man has changed. Actually, he reminds me of the sweet guy I knew all those years ago, before the drugs, you know, made him angry and abusive. Oh, but he was so good with your babies. You should have seen him. Carver even fell asleep in his arms.

Lani: It was really nice of him to come by and help out.

Paulina: Mm-hmm. I thought so. And he couldn’t have been more of a gentleman.

[Line trilling]

Chanel: God, horton, where are you?

Allie: Johnny, what is going on?

Johnny: [Stammers] It’s nothing, okay? I’m fine. Just-just-just get out of here! Leave me alone!

Real johnny: Help me, allie. Please. I know you can feel me.

Allie: Okay, johnny, what is happening to you? Okay, talk to me, please. I want to help you, I love you.

Johnny: Leave me alone!

Allie: Are you sick? Okay, I’m gonna take you to the hospital.

Demon johnny: I said leave me alone!
