Victoria: You know, we should do this more often. You know, it’s fun. Family time, lunch, talk about the future.

Claire: Yes, yes and yes.

Victoria: And I couldn’t be more happy for you and excited. Pursuing a career in early childhood education. I mean, I can’t think of anything more perfect.

Claire: Except long rides on the property with my mom and little sister when she comes home.

Victoria: Yes, absolutely. And maybe we’ll even ask your dad and johnny to join us too.

Claire: Dad seemed kind of distracted at lunch, didn’t he?

Victoria: Hm. Yes, he did.

Claire: And it wasn’t just at lunch. Am I wrong or did things seem kind of tense between him and grandpa?

Victoria: No, you’re not wrong. And when I invited dad to lunch, cole seemed relieved that dad couldn’t make it. And I think dad felt the same way.

Claire: What do you think’s going on with those two?

Cole: No, thank you.

Jordan: That was all victor. That was victor. He set everything up. Okay? And he’s gonna keep me in here. You see, I’m his trophy. He comes down here to gloat at me in all my misery.

Michael: Cole!

Cole: Hey, michael. Yeah, thank you for making the time to see me.

Michael: I came as soon as I could. What’s this about?

Cole: There’s something that you and I need to discuss.

Michael: Of course.

Cole: But first, I need to hire you as my attorney. So, this is just between us.

Michael: Unless you’re in some sort of legal jeopardy, hiring me is overkill. I mean, at this point, I would hope that you trust me to be discreet.

Cole: I trust you completely. That’s why I called you. But I think that once you hear what I have to say, you might prefer that we make it official.

Alan: So, if ashley experienced something traumatic after the breakup with tucker, but before she came home from paris, what do– what do you think it could be? I mean, did she mention any conflicts or issues? Anything specific, or?

Jack: Other than the blow up with tucker, nothing I can recall, no.

Traci: And tucker came straight back to genoa city after the fight.

Jack: I was concerned enough about that that I reached out to ashley. When she finally called me back, she told me about the fight, but we didn’t hear anything more until after she got home.

Alan: HM. So, there is some time unaccounted for.

Jack: Wait, you think it may have happened that much earlier? I thought I was talking to the ashley we love, and because of a trauma she experienced in paris, that was not ashley I was talking to.

Tucker: Hey, ashley, ashley. Whoa, hold on, hold on.

Ashley: Wait, wait, wait, get off me.

Tucker: I think I need to take you to the hospital.

Ashley: No.

Tucker: So, just relax.

Ashley: No, leave me alone. Please, just don’t touch me. I don’t need…

Ashley: I don’t need to go to the hospital.

Tucker: Hold on.

Ashley: Don’t touch me. Please.

Tucker: Can you tell me what happened just before this?

Ashley: I don’t need to explain myself to you, tucker. Excuse me.

Tucker: No. I’m gonna take you home.

Ashley: Okay, look, you’re being ridiculous right now. I can take myself home.

Tucker: No, you can’T. You are not well and you don’t remember what happened.

Jack: Turning it over in my head, what ashley said, how she said it, were there any clues, any hints, in that phone call that suggested there might be a problem?

Alan: Well, there’s just no way you could’ve known. How could you know to look for personalities that ashley was creating to protect herself?

Traci: Okay, when ashley got home, she was very upset. She was furious with tucker, finished with him, but that was before we realized that it wasn’t quite so volatile at the bistro as we had thought.

Jack: But that is in keeping with who ashley is.

Traci: Yes, I think so. Yes. So maybe the traumatic event happened on the second trip. Ashley and I went back to paris, and that’s when she found out that things didn’t happen the way she remembered them at the bistro. She sent me back ahead of her after that trip.

Alan: And how did she seem then?

Jack: Agitated, furious at herself for having remembered things wrong. She was furious at tucker and then ready to forgive him.

Traci: Yes, and it was really extreme. And I think that might be when the mood swings started.

Jack: So, maybe the real trauma happened after her second visit to the bistro.

Alan: It’s a good working theory.

Traci: Oh, my. We left her there. To– to have ashley experience something so traumatic to cause all of this fragmentation. Oh, my god, alone in a strange country? This just breaks my heart. What can we do? How can we help her?

Alan: Well, I mean, it’s sort of up to ashley. She is able to surface at times and suppress whatever alter is in control.

Jack: Any time she has agreed to getting help, that’s when we’re dealing with the real ashley?

Alan: Precisely. That’s why it’s so important that we connect to the real ashley because she’s the only one who can tell us what trauma caused the d-I-D.

Traci: Okay, so if we can find the truth, then what next?

Michael: If it would ease your mind, give me a dollar. Consider me on retainer.

Cole: What do you know about where victor stands regarding jordan?

Michael: I only know that jordan fell to her apparent death when chased by victor’s security team, and she is mourned by no one.

Cole: She’s alive.

Michael: That wasn’t what I was hoping to hear. Have you seen her?

Cole: Yes. Victor is keeping her in a dungeon at the main house.

Tucker: No, you are not capable. You just collapsed, ashley. You shouldn’t be behind the wheel of a car right now.

Tucker: No, you’re not taking a ride share. I’m taking you. You need to be home with your family.

Ashley: I don’t want you to tell me what I need, okay? Because what you need to do is– is find out where audra is, because she would not appreciate us being alone. I’m going.

Tucker: No, you’re not. Listen to me. You’re in trouble right now. And I think you know that. And you’re scared. I would be, too. It’s okay. And I know you don’t want to, but it’s also okay to ask for help. It’s not a weakness. It’s a strength to– to do what you need to do, despite your fear. That’s– that’s the definition of courage. Please. You need help. You need to be home with your family. And I’m taking you.

Ashley: Okay.

Tucker: Okay. Oh, I got that. I got that.

Victoria: Apparently, cole told nick that he suspects that your grandfather is somehow involved in jordan’s death and that there’s more to it than we know.

Claire: That’s impossible, right?

Victoria: I don’t know. Nothing is impossible when it comes to victor newman. But when I asked cole about it, he just..

Claire: Deflected and found the right words?

Victoria: Yeah, something like that.

Claire: So, he thinks that grandpa had something to do with jordan’s death?

Victoria: Well, I wouldn’t go that far. But your dad, every time he tries to ask questions or find out more details about what happened with jordan, my dad just shuts him down. So, cole thinks that maybe he’s hiding something.

Claire: What do you think?

Jordan: Come on. Come on. Come on, little thing. Come on. Let’s go.

Victor: Look at that. You’re busy at work, I see. I wonder why it’s taken you this long to try to escape.

Jordan: Not my first try.

Victor: Well, you’re gonna have a lot of time to realize that trying to get the hell out of here is gonna be impossible. It’s futile, you know?

Jordan: You bastard. Let me out of here.

Victor: Why? You’re having a wonderful– look at all the brussels sprouts and the vodka. I mean, come on. What could be better? Huh? You had a visitor, didn’t you? Didn’t you?

Nikki: Victor? Are you home? Victor?

Jack: So, this dissociative identity disorder sounds… ashley, will come back from this, right?

Alan: It’s certainly possible, of course.

Jack: But?

Alan: Well, it’s– it’s rare, rarely diagnosed, very complex. The important thing to do is identify the trauma that created it.

Traci: And when that happens?

Alan: Well, once we deal with the underlying issues, hopefully the alters will subside.

Jack: But that won’t be the end of it, will it?

Alan: No. She’ll need therapy to deal with the aftermath, hopefully in a controlled setting.

Traci: It sounds like you are wanting to put her in a psychiatric hospital.

Alan: Well, hopefully ashley will make that decision herself.

Jack: She is not unfamiliar with that environment.

Traci: Considering our sister’s history, I don’t know if she would ever agree to go back to a place like fairview.

Alan: Well, first things first. We can make that decision later. And when we do, there’s plenty of good options. I know a lot of wonderful places in europe.

Traci: So, you think there’s hope?

Alan: Definitely. Of course, there’s hope. She has a loving family that supports her, and we will get her to the other side of this.

Jack: First, we have to find her.

Alan: Yeah. Well, that could be more difficult than before. Yesterday, uh, I upset ashley, or at least one of her alters, so she hasn’t contacted me since.

Traci: And I’ve reached out to her as well. Hasn’t got back to me either.

Alan: Well, if she does reach out, it will probably be to family first. So, please let me know if she does and I’ll let you know if she contacts me, all right?

Jack: Thank you, alan, for everything.

Traci: You have been so much help, thank you.

Alan: Of course, my pleasure.

Jack: What are you doing with my sister? Tide is busting laundry’s biggest myth…

Jack: Come on. Let’s get you inside.

Ashley: Alan, what are you doing here?

Traci: We asked him here. Ashley, are you all right? Can we do anything for you?

Ashley: No, I’m fine.

Tucker: She’s not fine.

Ashley: Okay, look, I got a little bit dizzy.

Tucker: No, she collapsed.

Traci: What?

Jack: When? Wait, what did you do?

Tucker: I didn’t do anything. We were at the jazz lounge. We were talking. She went to leave and fainted.

Ashley: Honestly, I don’t remember, so I don’t know if I actually fainted.

Tucker: I’m actually glad you’re here, alan, because I think it was a blackout. When she came to, she couldn’t remember anything that happened right before.

Jack: What were you doing with tucker, of all people?

Tucker: She wanted to talk to me. She took me down to the jazz lounge, uh… she tried to convince me that we still belong together. She did have one glass of wine, but mostly it was just telling me that we should give our relationship a second chance.

Jack: Ash, is that true?

Ashley: I don’t remember.

Tucker: And she was unsteady on her feet. Hardly said a word on the drive over here.

Jack: So what, that makes you the hero?

Tucker: No, jack, it makes me concerned.

Jack: Or maybe you’re trying to insinuate yourself back into her life.

Tucker: Can we not do this right now? She needs help. Ash, if you don’t wanna be honest with me, I understand, but it’s time that you’re honest with yourself and with your family.

Michael: Well, I asked him more than once if jordan’s dying in that fall was the truth. He swore it was and I was stupid enough to believe him. Victor’s usually so careful. How did you find out?

Cole: He’s been acting so secretive lately. Reportedly, he’s on the ranch, but he’s nowhere to be found. This has happened more than a few times. So, I just got curious. I just– I just confronted him with it, and I asked him, what’s going on?

Michael: I’m sure that went over well.

Cole: Yeah, he was pretty ticked. He ordered me out of the house and I just– I pretended to leave. I stuck around. I followed him. I waited. When he came out of the basement door, I was able to slip back in. And eventually, I found a prison cell that was– looked like some sort of an abandoned wine cellar.

Michael: Oh, victor, victor, victor.

Cole: She– she practically thought I was an hallucination. And then she– she begged me to get her out.

Michael: And did you?

Cole: Hell no.

Michael: Have you told anyone else about this?

Cole: No, no. I just need time to process it, you know? I– I completely understand what his motivation is. All right, he’s just trying to protect his family and– and– and punish jordan. I get it. But michael, this is no way to do it. To get down on her level like this, that’s not the answer. This can’t continue.

Michael: Oh, obviously not.

Cole: Jordan should be behind bars. Absolutely. But in a proper prison. Not personally incarcerated, tortured by victor. And the other thing is, I– I– I don’t want to get victor in trouble by me exposing this. That’s why I came to you. For advice.

Michael: Advice on how to take on victor newman.

Jordan: Who’s gonna come down here, huh? The world thinks I’m dead, thanks to you. Unless of course you’ve changed your mind and you wanna sell tickets to your own private zoo.

Victor: Good for you to keep a sense of humor because you’ll need it.

Jordan: Okay. Okay, I get it. I really get it. I understand, victor. You’ve won. You’ve won. You’ve reneged on our deal. You’re not gonna send me off to a federal prison, are you? So, let’s just get on with it. Bring me a vial of poison and I’ll be free.

Victor: Not gonna make it that easy for you.

Jordan: Even you must have some sort of decency.

Victor: I have no sense of decency or mercy when it comes to you.

Jordan: Then, just kill me.

Victor: Not as long as you are of use to me.

Jordan: Stop it. No more promises. No more hope. That’s the worst punishment of all.

Victor: Would you get on the floor and eat those brussels sprouts? I’ll get you another bottle of vodka.

Jordan: Victor! Victor! Come back here right now! Victor! Auntie, you can’t put that right in the dishwasher.

[ Knock on door ]

Victoria: Mom!

Nikki: Hi!

Victoria: You’re home!

Nikki: Oh, I’m so happy to see you, my darling.

Claire: Welcome back.

Nikki: It’s great to be home.

Victoria: Mom, we weren’t expecting you for a couple of weeks. Is everything all right?

Nikki: I didn’t break out from rehab, if that’s what you’re thinking. No, my counselors and the medical staff felt I had been doing so well that I could go home and continue my work from here.

Victoria: How do you feel?

Nikki: Great. I feel so strong. Although in the beginning, i didn’t know that I could do it. You know, the first few days, detox, were really rough, but failure is not an option when all you wanna do in the whole world is go home and be with your family. But once I committed to it, I got such a sense of freedom from the alcohol, from jordan, and a sense of excitement to get back to this wonderful life we live.

Victoria: Well, we are all feeling the excitement of a jordan-free world. We’re finally feeling safe again.

Claire: Grandpa must be beyond excited that you’re home.

Nikki: I haven’t seen him yet. Do you know where he is? I asked the staff, and they said he hasn’t left the ranch. He wasn’t at the main house or the stables. I just can’t wait to surprise him.

Cole: So how are we gonna get jordan out of that cage, get her into prison, without victor facing any charges?

Michael: The legal ramifications for him would be enormous if it were to get out that he kept jordan under private lock and key. Why does that man always have to play god? Even if we were able to secretly get jordan out, arrange for her to be arrested and put in prison, what’s to stop her from talking to anyone who would listen and telling them that she was incarcerated and tortured by victor?

Cole: Well, ’cause she is seeing rats and– and spiders that aren’t there. She– he barely even recognized me at first. And one other thing, you know, that along with her history, I doubt that anybody’s gonna believe a word that comes out of her mouth.

Michael: One could only hope.

Cole: Any ideas?

Michael: Victor’s stubborn. He would never listen to reason and agree to let us put jordan into a real prison. So, you and I have to do the dirty work. Get her out of that damn cage into a legitimate cell.

Cole: Without victor knowing.

Victor: Nikki, are you home?

Tucker: Ashley. Ashley. Talk to them. You’re safe here. Everyone in this room wants to help you.

Ashley: I don’t know what I can possibly say because I– I don’t– I don’t know. I– I assume that tucker’s telling the truth and… but I don’t remember having the conversation and I– I don’t remember seeking you out and I– I don’t remember having any wine.

Traci: Well, tell me what the last thing you do remember is.

Ashley: I’m afraid. I’m afraid to even ask you what day it is.

Tucker: Uh, for what it’s worth, I think this is… she’s herself right now.

Alan: Well, I would like, uh, to talk to ashley alone. If that’s all right with you, ashley.

Ashley: Yeah, I don’t know what’s happening. Can you help me?

Alan: I’m gonna do everything I can.

Ashley: Okay.

Jack: Thank you. She’s in good hands now.

Tucker: Okay.

Ashley: But tucker, thank you so much for being concerned about me and for knowing that I needed to be with my family.

Tucker: Okay.

Ashley: Thank you.

Tucker: Take care. Hi, I’m eileen.

Jack: Is there anything you want to say that you couldn’t in front of tucker?

Ashley: I– I don’t remember anything, jack. How can I– how can I comment on something I don’t remember?

Jack: Okay, okay.

Ashley: I just have a lot of different pieces, and I don’t know. Nothing is coming together for me.

Traci: Okay, it’s okay. We’re just so grateful that you’re home and you’re safe and we can take care of you. Oh, my god, we were so worried.

Ashley: I’m sorry. I’m sorry if I hurt you. I’m so sorry. I know you just wanna take care of me. I know how much you love me.

Jack: That is never going to change.

Alan: How about we have that talk, uh, now, hm?

Ashley: Okay?

Traci: Okay. Jack, shall we…

Jack: Yeah.

Alan: Hey. So, you’ve been through a lot, huh? How you feeling?

Ashley: Really confused. And everything is kind of foggy. Well, let’s– let’s try to break it down. Do you remember a thing specific, uh, happening maybe with someone or…

Ms. Abbott: You’re weak. These people don’t wanna help you. They wanna control you. I wanna set you free. I’m the only one who can keep you safe.

Ashley: Just stop it! God.

Alan: You weren’t talking to me just then, were you?

Jack: Ashley is home. That is the first step.

Traci: Jack, she’s so frightened. I have never seen her so unsure of herself.

Jack: At least we have the ashley we think is the real ashley and she’s ready to get the help she needs.

Traci: I was– I was really afraid she was gonna take off and we would never see her again. And jack, we have tucker to thank for that.

Jack: No. I am not about to thank tucker mccall. He may have done the right thing this time, but as far as ashley’s issues are concerned, I’m not convinced he’s not to blame, at least in part. Every one of these events have involved his presence. No, that’s not just coincidence.

Traci: Okay, okay, I don’t know what to think.

Jack: As far as I’m concerned, she is better off if she never sees that man again.

Tucker: Thank you.

Ashley: I know what I have to do now.

Tucker: Which is?

Ashley: To protect myself. Oh, congratulations, ’cause your gaslighting was, you know, somewhat effective, because my– my own family is now doubting me. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. You got a lot of pain coming your way, buddy. You got so much pain coming at you. But don’t blame me. You look in the mirror. I ruined everything. And I deeply regret it. But it will never happen again.

Tucker: Hm. And I should just believe you.

Victoria: I don’t know where dad is. It seems like since you left, he’s been going for a lot of long walks.

Claire: He’s missed you so much. We all have.

Nikki: I’ve missed all of you as well. And now that I’m home, I feel like I never wanna leave again, at least not for a while. So, tell me everything. What have I missed?

Claire: Um… I’m finally ready to start horseback riding lessons. I’m pretty excited. Scared, but mostly excited.

Nikki: Ah, spoken like a true newman.

Victoria: I predict that she’s going to be a natural.

Nikki: Well, I wouldn’t expect any less.

Claire: I hope. And if it’s not too much to ask, maybe I could take some lessons from you too.

Nikki: I would love that.

Victoria: Wait until she makes you post around the arena for hours and hours.

Claire: Oh, should I be more afraid?

Nikki: No. No, we have nothing to be afraid of ever again. So, what else has been going on?

Victoria: Nothing, mom. I mean, all is well. I’m just really happy that you’re home.

Cole: Victor will explode when he finds out that we went behind his back.

Michael: We must be out of our minds. But I don’t see an alternative. We’ve gotta get jordan out of there. For victor’s sake.

Cole: Absolutely. That’s why I knew you were the right person for this.

Michael: Unfortunately, I’ve had a little too much experience with this type of vigilante justice and it never ends well. I don’t know what victor was thinking. Not that I don’t have sympathy, given the number of times the authorities have let jordan slip between their fingers,but it was an incredibly… ill-conceived move on victor’s part.

Cole: So, let’s put an end to it before anybody else gets hurt, including victor. After the hell that jordan has put this family through, no one else should suffer for what she set in motion.

Michael: So, all we have to do is get jordan into a real prison and keep victor out of an orange jumpsuit. The only question is how.

Cole: Well, I think I might have an idea. You didn’t live this strong,

Victoria: Mom, can I offer you some tea or something?

[ Knock on door ]

Victor: Victoria, are you home?

Nikki: Well, hello.

Victor: Oh, my. Come here, my baby. Close the door. Let me look at you. My god, you’re beautiful. You look strong, you look rested. Come here. So, you didn’t leave that place too soon, did you?

Nikki: I couldn’t stay away another second. But I’ve made such good progress. My therapist recommended me for outpatient care. I mean, I still have a lot of work to do, but I’ve never felt stronger or more committed to my sobriety. And now that we are free of jordan forever, nothing can threaten my recovery. I love you.

Jordan: There’s gotta be some way to get out of here somehow. And I’m gonna find it. I’m gonna find it. And when I find it, I’m coming after you, victor newman, and your whole damn family.

Tucker: Hey, jean-jacques, mon ami. What’s happening, brother? Will I be attending any of the meetings this week with audra? Is audra in paris?

Traci: Ashley has come to this point before where she was willing to get help and then backed out at the last minute. But somehow, this time, jack, I really feel like it’s different.

Jack: Yeah, we can only hope that she’s ready to take the steps to make herself healthy again.

Traci: Yeah, that’s all I want for her. I think about when she finds out what she may be facing, if this is d-I-d, this is gonna be so overwhelming for her.

Jack: She’s always in control. That’s who she is. She thrives on it. To find out she’s not in control of her actions, her mind, I don’t know how she’s gonna cope with that.

Traci: I know, I know. She’s worked so hard to overcome mental health issues in the past. When she finds out that she may have to go back into some kind of a facility, this is gonna bring back all kinds of memories of fairview, and it’s gonna add to all the emotional baggage she’s already carrying around.

Jack: Wherever this leads her, she will have our love and support.

Traci: Of course, she will. And do you know what gives me hope, jack? That the ashley that came home today, that’s sitting in our house right now, that is our sister.

Jack: Oh, I pray to god you’re right.

Alan: Who were you talking to just now, ashley?

Ashley: I don’t know. Oh, god, could you please help me? I don’t know what’s happening to me.

Alan: Well, I think we are dealing with several personas here.

Ashley: What does that mean, personas?

Alan: Have you ever heard of, uh, d-I-d, dissociative identity disorder?

Ashley: Yeah, I’ve heard of it.

Alan: Yeah, it’s rare, and it presents in a number of ways, but in this case, we’re looking at multiple, distinct personalities. Identities that can control your behavior, and usually this is the result of some kind of severe trauma.

Ashley: That can’t be what’s happening to me.

Alan: Well, another symptom of d-I-d is memory loss, which you’ve admitted to. And your family, and tucker and I have seen you forget memories from your past from your own history. And we’ve all met these personalities that are very different from the ashley we all know.

Ashley: But you said it was because of trauma. I don’t like, I haven’t experienced any trauma. I mean, not recently. Not that it would’ve triggered something like this.

Alan: Unfortunately, I– i think you may be blocking it.

Ashley: When would this have happened?

Alan: Well, right now, looking at the timeline, we are thinking paris.

Ashley: The argument I had with tucker? I mean, that doesn’t make any sense. It was upsetting, but it wasn’t anything that would’ve made this happen to me.

Alan: Well, there are ways of exploring this.

Ashley: No. No, you’re not gonna talk– you’re not talking about putting me away, are you? I won’t go. I won’t go.

Alan: Ashley, you need to be in a safe place where you can get good treatment. Now, I promise you, I will be there all the time, making sure you get the best of care. The important thing right now is to uncover the incident that caused this trauma, and once we have, we can begin to address it.

Ashley: How am I supposed to remember this? I mean, how– how do I remember this, whatever you think has happened to me?

Alan: Well, I’m thinking maybe you could come back to paris with me and we could explore these memories together, and hopefully, maybe, find the truth.

Alan: Right, I followed her here. I tried to smooth things over. She wouldn’t engage, but then I witnessed a pretty profound personality shift. All of a sudden she was calm, cool, in control. She shut me down, said our friendship was over and then she left.

Traci: And neither one of us have heard from her since.

Jack: Okay, that is in line with the personality shifts we’ve witnessed. Is it possible she just felt rejected?

Alan: Well, I also had an enlightening conversation with tucker.

Jack: I would prefer we leave him out of this.

Alan: Well, I did not share any of our concerns with him despite his probing, but he did share some of his concerns. He’s also witnessed these personality shifts, but there was a specific event where ashley referred to herself in the third person.

Traci: Yes, he’s told us about that as well.

Jack: And what do you think that means?

Alan: Well, it’s becoming clear to me that we are dealing with different personas here. That ashley has created to protect herself but in different ways.

Jack: Protect herself from what?

Traci: Well, that’s the question. And I’m so afraid of what the answer might be.

Tucker: I understand you’re trying to provoke me by bringing up audra. It’s not gonna work any more than talk of a future with you is going to work. You are not gonna dissuade me from my knowledge that something is wrong with you, okay?

Traci: Alan, I know that we’ve both said that her behavior was very different in the past incidents, but is it possible that this has something to do with the brain tumor she had? Like a recurrence?

Alan: Well, um, she certainly should have a full medical exam, including a brain scan, but I– I don’t think this is a tumor. The symptoms just don’t fit.

Jack: You really don’t think this could’ve been triggered by her marriage ending?

Alan: Well, it could’ve played a role, but no, I think it has to be something more traumatic than that.

Jack: That some larger trauma happened in paris after tucker left?

Traci: And how are we gonna find out what that is? Ashley won’t talk to any of us.

Claire: Between spending time with the kids at the hospital and harrison, I feel like I’ve found what it is I wanna do. I’ve been reading into the different schools of thought about early childhood education. It’s really fascinating. There’s so many different theories about what works best, and of course, different kids need different things, so it can take some time to find the right one.

Victoria: Oh, yeah. I mean, katie and johnny’s school is great like that. They tailor the process to each kid specifically, whereas katie has more essays, and johnny would have more project-based assignments.

Claire: Yeah, exactly, and then for younger kids, there’s the play-based approach to learning. I am seriously considering pursuing a masters in early childhood education.

Victoria: Ah, wow. So what is the play-based approach?

Claire: Okay, well, I’m oversimplifying, but basically, it’s getting kids to learn through doing, so they stay engaged because they’re having fun, and they’re using their imagination.

Jordan: He comes down here to gloat at me in all my misery, and so if you can get me out of here, I’ll leave town, and I’ll never return, okay?

[ Indistinct chatter ]

Cole: Uh, excuse me, I’ll be right back.

Victor: Why are you asking all these questions?

Chelsea: You know what, sweetheart? I think we were just so excited to see your handsome face and hear your voice that we jumped the gun a bit.

Adam: But we promise we won’t do that again.

Chelsea: I think what your dad’s about to say is that that won’t happen again, but that would be giving reassurances and we’re not supposed to do that. So, can we just move past this timing issue?

Connor: Okay.

Adam: So tell us what’s going on. How are the classes? How’s your therapy going?

Connor: Not great.

Cole: I thought I smelled brussels sprouts.

Victor: That’s right. Food for the horses.

Cole: It’s certainly not hay and oats.

Victor: Excuse me. I got a text here. So… you know, those brussels sprouts were left over from last night and I don’t like them to go to waste.

Cole: That’s more fancy than what we were feeding back when I was working the stables.

Victor: Yeah, well.

Cole: And delivered on a tray from victor newman, no less.

Victor: Isn’t that something? Times have changed.

Cole: Yes, they have.

Victor: Yeah.

Cole: So, I could go down with you and help you feed.

Victor: No, no, that’s perfectly fine, okay? I love to go down to the stables and feed my horses. Relaxes me, you know? So cole, let’s cut to the chase. What do you want to know?

Cole: Okay. I think you’re hiding something. I don’t know what it is or why you’re doing it, but every time I talk with you lately, I don’t feel like I’m getting the whole truth.

Nate: Come on. Take it easy, tucker.

Tucker: I’m surprised you’re not hand feeding each other chocolate covered strawberries.

Audra: You’re embarrassing yourself.

Tucker: Am I? I apologize. Oh, hey, would you do me a favor? Take these back and pour just a whole bunch of chocolate over them. Put it on my tab.

Audra: It’s all right, nate. Tucker is just having one of his tantrums. This happens to him when he doesn’t get what he wants. But not even you can ruin my mood this morning, especially after the glorious night I just had.

Tucker: All right, all right. I– I didn’t think the relationship was over, audra. But all right. I guess I know now why you didn’t accept my marriage proposal.

Audra: It’s wonderful. You know, I tell you I don’t believe in marriage, so you decide to make this all about marriage? That’s how well you understand me. Good to know.

Tucker: You know what I also understand? Whatever you feel or… felt for me was obviously conditional. I love you, tucker, as long as I get to go to paris. So, you were never really in this 100%, were you? First little sign of trouble, you cut and run.

Audra: First little sign? Are you serious? After all the times you strung me along and then pulled the rug out?

Tucker: I will grant you how I handled all the drama with ashley, I regret that. I’m sorry for it. But now when all I want to do is give a little bit of deference to my son, my own flesh and blood. That’s a rejection of you?

Audra: You know what? You can just think whatever you want. I told you I was not gonna marry you or anyone else, but you just thought that you could just change my mind and force everything on me. Okay, what about what I want? Even more reason why ending this relationship is a good idea. Can we please go now?

Nate: Yep, you read my mind.

Tucker: What about your career?

Audra: What about it?

Tucker: Do you think that you’re gonna have anything to do with glissade after this? No. No, that’s over.

Cole: Claire is my daughter and she’s living here and I want to make sure that she is safe.

Cole: Just so you know, after having this conversation, I’m even more suspicious that you’re hiding something.

Victor: I said goodbye.

Chelsea: Tell us what’s going on, connor.

Connor: Just a lot of stuff I’ve been dealing with this week. It’s no big deal.

Adam: Well, of course it’s a big deal. You know, what kind of stuff?

Connor: Memories, feelings, that kind of thing.

Chelsea: Okay.

Connor: I don’t really want to talk about this. I’m sorry.

Chelsea: Well, sweetie, I think you do want to talk about it or else you wouldn’t have asked us to call you.

Adam: Yeah, and we want to listen, buddy. We would like to help.

Connor: I don’t know if anybody can.

Adam: Well, how about you– how about you just try?

Connor: During my therapy this week, I started having all these bad thoughts about how if I wasn’t around, everyone would be happier.

Adam: No.

Chelsea: Connor. No, that’s– that’s not true.

Adam: No, it’s just the opposite of that, connor.

Connor: Yeah, well, the ocd tells me not to believe you, that you’re just saying it because you’re supposed to. Tells me that I’m a bad person, that I’m useless.

Adam: No, connor. No.

Chelsea: Is your team helping you with this?

Connor: They have some ideas. And I’m trying. I really am. But I don’t know. I wish I could be normal, that I wasn’t so much trouble for everybody. I’m sorry I’m not a better son.

Tucker: I shouldn’t be around anyone right now. Especially you.

Ashley: Nice. Why? You think I’m a nutcase?

Tucker: No, I’M… just not in the mood.

Ashley: Maybe I can help. I saw nate with audra. It’s all falling apart.

Tucker: Okay, no, no, no. That’s enough. Let’s cut this short. Go home, ashley. And I’m gonna– I’m gonna go somewhere else.

Ashley: Where are you gonna go? Why don’t we go someplace together? Wanna take a walk? Just the two of us?

Tucker: No.

Ashley: No?

Tucker: I need some time.

Ashley: Okay. You know what? You’re always taking time to think, aren’t you? I mean, you think too much. You and I are both so similar, tucker. We’re crazy when it comes to love, right? We find somebody, we think that person’s gonna fix everything. When they don’t, our worlds fall apart, which is so stupid. We’re both such strong individuals, right?

Tucker: Yeah. I’m gonna go.

Ashley: Where you going? I mean, really, this place isn’t open for hours, so we have all the privacy in the world. Come on. Let’s just chat. Have a seat. Relax.

Ash: Oh, no. Are you gonna kill tucker right now?

I know you so well, I bet you thought you had the upper hand. And then she pulled a fast one, right? But does it make you feel any better to know that I’m so sad that your heart’s broken?

Belle: You are too smart to kill him right now. People saw you slip downstairs with him. Now, you think about this, ms. Abbott. You think real hard.

Ashley: There you go. What do you think? It’s perfectly safe. No tricks, nothing nefarious. Drink up. Come on. Go ahead. If you’re lucky, pretty soon you’re going to be feeling no pain.

Nate: You okay?

Audra: Just thinking about, you know, everything.

Nate: Tucker can be a handful.

Audra: Don’t get me started on that subject.

Nate: I did find it interesting you, uh, you allowed him to believe we spent the night together.

Audra: I didn’t mention anything about our sleeping arrangements, did I?

Nate: True, but you conveniently left out the fact that you spent your glorious night alone in your bed.

Audra: Hm. Details.

Nate: It’s a pretty big one.

Audra: Yeah, well, tucker deserved that. After all the times he’s jerked me around, it seems only fair for me to return the favor. And I did have a wonderful night with you, nate. It’s just been such a long time since I felt so easy and free talking to someone, felt like a respected equal.

Nate: I had a great time too.

Audra: So, you’re not angry that I let tucker think whatever he wanted to think?

Nate: Oh, you did the world a service. Bullies and egomaniacs like tucker need to be put in their place every now and then.

Audra: You’ll be on his target list now. You know that, don’t you?

Nate: I can handle anything tucker can dish out. I’m more concerned about him going after you.

Audra: Oh, he’ll try. It goes against tucker’s nature not to seek revenge when he feels he’s been wronged. But I know his playbook pretty well and I plan to stay one step ahead of him.

Adam: Connor, listen to me. Your ocd is telling you lies.

Chelsea: Your dad is right, connor.

Adam: Okay, I don’t know why your ocd is saying things like that, but they are not true, okay? None of it. And if anybody needs to apologize, it’s me for– for not being a better father and not being there for you when you needed me.

Chelsea: Connor, nothing you’re going through is your fault, okay? And it pains me to think that you feel you have to be perfect in order for us to love you. No human being is perfect. And that’s– that’s why love is so special. It’s there, no matter what. And– and I swear to you on my life, there is nothing you could do or say to ever make us stop loving you. Ever.

Connor: I just don’t want to make you sad anymore.

Chelsea: No.

Adam: You don’t, connor. That’s what we’re trying to tell you, okay? All that we care about is making things better for you.

Connor: I think this call made it worse.

Chelsea: What? Connor, no.

Connor: I’ve gotta go now.

Adam: No, wait. Connor, wait a minute. Hold on. Will you just give us a few more minutes, please?

Connor: I can’T.

Chelsea: Connor, please, just wait.

Victor: Brought you some new brussels sprouts. Oh, but wait a minute. You haven’t even finished the ones I brought yesterday. Wow.

Jordan: Because I hate them.

Victor: Oh, yeah? Maybe they’re full of vitamins and fiber. My goodness. How? What? Come on.

Jordan: Oh!

Victor: There. See?

Jordan: Get me some real food.

Victor: I have!

Jordan: Not the damned sprouts, victor.

Victor: You don’t decide what you get. I decide what you eat and when you eat, you got it?

[ Jordan laughs ] Oh, you’re drinking at this hour?

Jordan: This hour?

Victor: Uh-huh.

Jordan: I don’t even know what day it is. How long have I been down here?

Victor: Oh, not that long, really. Not nearly long enough to pay for what you have done to my wife. And the entire family!

Adam: Yes, I know that you were monitoring all the kids, but– connor seemed particularly upset today. Okay, I would appreciate that. Thank you. They said they’re gonna keep a closer eye on him and they’re gonna make sure he’s all right. Well, as all right as connor can be these days.

Chelsea: Thank you for handling that.

Adam: Of course.

Chelsea: I think I would have been a mess. Our son is really suffering, adam.

Adam: I know.

Chelsea: I mean, to hear him say he feels useless, like he’s a burden to us, it’s ripping my heart out.

Adam: He sounds so hopeless.

Chelsea: We can’t give up on him, adam.

Adam: I won’t give up on him, not in a million years. But he’s not getting any better under their care. I mean, if anything, he’s gotten worse. Maybe this facility is not the right place for him.

Chelsea: What is our alternative?

Adam: That’s the thing. I don’t know, okay? Today was supposed to be a turning point. I mean, he reached out to us. He wanted to talk to us. I thought it was going to be a breakthrough. And then, he just turns up to tell us how miserable he still is.

Chelsea: Maybe we were just wishing for too much too soon.

Adam: Yeah, maybe. Look, chelsea, you don’t have to stick around here, okay? I’m probably just gonna drag you down right now. I’m sure that you want to go spend some time with billy and tell him what’s going on.

Chelsea: Billy’s away on a business trip.

Adam: Oh. Well, maybe you want to call him.

Chelsea: I do. I mean, billy’s been amazing. He’s been so supportive and understanding. I just– I just feel bad. I feel like I’m constantly unloading all of my problems on him.

Adam: Well, I’m no fan of billy’s, but I’m sure he wouldn’t want you to feel how you’re feeling right now.

Chelsea: What about you?

Adam: What about me?

Chelsea: Do you bombard sally with every bad phone call or issue connor has?

Adam: I try not to.

Chelsea: Well… we are together in this as parents. Our partners are incredible and they want to be there to support us, but connor… is our son. Remember that not too long ago, you said there are going to be moments we need to reassure each other?

Adam: Hm. Maybe this is one of those moments.

Tucker: I don’t think either of us need a drink right now.

[ Phone chimes ] Is that your friend, alan?

Ashley: Mm, no, he’s long gone. On his way back to europe.

Tucker: Really?

Ashley: Mm-hmm.

Tucker: Last I heard, he was sticking around a while.

Ashley: Oh, yeah, he told me that you were asking him for information about me.

Tucker: Yeah. Did he tell you that I was doing it out of concern?

Ashley: Aw, you don’t have to be concerned about me. Alan gave me a very clean bill of mental health.

Belle: Oof. You are a good liar. He might actually believe you.

Nate: You were smart to finally walk away from tucker.

Audra: Yeah, well, if I’d been smarter, I wouldn’t have opened up my heart to a man like that to begin with.

Nate: We’ve all been there. We’ve all been there.

Audra: Look, I don’t know why I kept thinking he’d change or that I could change him.

Nate: Not your problem anymore, is it?

Audra: Yeah, that’s right. Well, enough about tucker. Don’t you have work to do, or… an office to get to?

Nate: I’ve still got some time.

Audra: Well, lucky you. Looks like I’ll have nothing but time these days.

Nate: So, tucker was serious about cutting you out of glissade?

Audra: Tucker would sooner blow that company up than to let me take any credit or reap any rewards.

Nate: What are your options then, audra?

Audra: I don’t know, nate. Why? Are you offering me my job back at chancellor-winters?

Victor: Oh, they smell wonderful. Well, I guess you don’t want any of this, do you?

Jordan: You said that you had a special assignment for me.

Victor: Oh, I must have forgotten.

Jordan: Whatever it is, whatever it is, I will do it. I will do it. You know that I’m fully capable of doing it, but I just– I’ve got to get out of here. I’m begging you, victor.

Nate: Or you could be wrong. And tucker gets over it and realizes he can’t do the job without you.

Audra: No, we’ve tried that. Worked as a team, whether we were sleeping together or not. But this time, it feels different. I think it’s finally time to say goodbye.

Tucker: So, alan says you’re cured now.

Ashley: I guess he realized that just because I’ve been a little unpredictable lately, it doesn’t mean I need to be committed anytime soon. And I’m not gonna bore you with the rest of our conversation, but, um, I think we both felt better afterwards. Yeah.

Tucker: And did he offer any, uh, observations or suggestions for you moving forward?

Ashley: Why? Are you shopping for a shrink?

Tucker: What does that mean?

Ashley: That means that if I’m reading you right, you want to know where things stand with alan and me personally.

Tucker: I thought you were friends.

Ashley: He wanted something different. Didn’t feel right for me.

Tucker: Ah… he wanted to pursue something romantic with you?

Ashley: Of course.

[ Tucker laughs ] How does that make you feel?

Tucker: Does it make a difference, ashley?

Ashley: It does, actually, to me. I’ve tried. I can’t let go of the dream. You and I were gonna conquer the world, tucker. I believed that. I believe in you and I want it back. Known for nights to remember.

Nate: This seems like a pretty big moment for you.

Audra: Yeah, a world without tucker?

Nate: He’s been a part of your life, one way or another for, a lot of years now and it can be hard to let that go, even if it is the right move.

Audra: Yeah. It’s just time, nate. It’s finally clearly time to move on.

Nate: And I’m here for you, whatever you need.

Audra: You have been there for me. And sometimes, I wonder why.

Nate: What do you mean?

Audra: Well, I haven’t been such a great friend. I never listened to you when you gave me great advice. I even got you in trouble with your family.

Nate: It’s a new day, new beginnings.

Audra: I’ll drink to that.

Nate: What?

Audra: I was just thinking back to all those times I tried to bring out the bad side of you. When it turns out, I wanted the good side all along.

Tucker: I don’t know where you’re going with this, ashley, but I’m not coming with you.

Ashley: I know you still have feelings for me. That’s why you’re always trying to save me and you’re always trying to rescue me. Because you still love me.

Tucker: Well, you need to concentrate right now on your own well being. Not me, not us. I have… something else I want to focus on.

Ashley: Oh, forget about audra. You don’t need a little girl. You need a woman. You need someone that can meet you. I am your perfect partner, tucker. Come with me. Let me show you how much I love you.

Tucker: See, you keep doing that. You tell me you love me, and the next second, it’s as if you’re happy I’m gone. Why?

Ashley: Because I’ve been tied up in knots over you, over losing you, wanting to be with you. Afraid of getting hurt again, afraid of upsetting my family. I’ve put that behind me completely.

Tucker: And– and this clarity came after a few conversations with alan?

Audra: Well, let’s just say I too have plans this evening.

Sally: I knew you’d work things out with tucker, and now you definitely look ready for a night out on the town.

Audra: Actually, you’re mistaken. I am going out to dinner with someone, just not with tucker.

Nate: Sorry to hear the board meeting didn’t turn out the way you hoped.

Lily: Well, we probably should’ve made sure we had the votes before we called the meeting.

Nate: There must be some way to check billy’s power within the company. You know what? I’m gonna brainstorm, and I will look into our legal options.

Lily: Well, no, no. I don’t wanna include lawyers yet, but I do wanna make sure we’ve explored all the possibilities.

Nate: All right. We will find a solution.

Lily: Thanks, nate. I’m glad I have your help.

Devon: Hey.

Lily: Hey. Uh, I just brought nate up to speed on our board meeting gone wrong.

Nate: Yes, it was, uh, it was a good idea. Too bad it didn’t, uh, pan out.

Devon: Yeah. Onwards and upwards, right?

Nate: Exactly. Oh, speaking of which, I need to head out.

Devon: Where you going?

Lily: You have plans?

Nate: Uh, I might as well tell you in case you hear it from someone else and it gets misconstrued.

Lily: Oh, god. What is it?

Nate: I’m taking audra out to dinner.

Lily: Ah, audra?

Devon: Audra, really? I thought tucker was with audra. Why you going out with her?

Kyle: So, that’s where we’re at. What do you say? Do we have a deal? That’s wonderful, mr. Foley. You won’t be disappointed. Good. Good. I’m glad you agree. Oh, no. No, no, no. Do not worry about my mother. She will understand. Thank you, sir. I’ll be in touch. Yes.

[ Doorbell rings ] Claire, come in. Come in. I’m glad you could make it.

Claire: I was surprised to get your message. I got worried. Is harrison okay?

Kyle: Yeah, harrison’s fine. And he’s gonna be even better going forward. Thanks to you.

Tucker: Yeah, and how does that help me? Listen, I pay you for information I don’t already know. I already know billy abbott is out of town. I need dirt on him, not flight information.

[ Diane sighs ] Would you care to dance?

Diane: Oh.

Tucker: Hi.

Diane: Go away.

Tucker: No, I just wanted to offer you my sincere congratulations.

Diane: I’m not interested.

Tucker: But there’s so much to celebrate, diane. You got this new, big promotion. Mrs. Co-ceo. All the exceptional work you’re doing at jabot. Brava. Really? Really. You’ve– you’ve conquered this town. Just as you’d hoped. When enamel is gone, you cannot get it back.

Kyle: I would like to officially offer you the position as harrison’s nanny.

Claire: Are you sure?

Kyle: Yeah, the hours are somewhat flexible since summer and I occasionally work from home. The pay is competitive.

Claire: My days are wide open right now, and I don’t pay rent, so money isn’t really an issue.

Kyle: And you’ll be taking care of the sweetest little boy in the universe.

Claire: That I know. He’s adorable. It would be great to have not just a job, but a purpose. You know, not just filing papers somewhere for a paycheck, but to help a kid to grow up and thrive.

Kyle: So, what do you say? Do we have a deal?

Claire: Absolutely. When do I start?

Kyle: Tomorrow, if you can. But if that’s too soon, then not a problem.

Claire: Tomorrow it is. Thank you, kyle. This really means the world to me.

Kyle: Yeah, we’re lucky to have you.

Claire: I have to thank summer, too. Honestly, I’m surprised and grateful that she changed her mind. Summer did change her mind, right?

Sally: You’re going out with someone else as in dating?

Audra: It’s just dinner.

Sally: Looking like that? You were literally just about to go to paris with tucker, and he proposed to you. You’re in love with him.

Audra: Or at least I thought I was.

Sally: So, now you’re just ready to move on?

Audra: Tucker and I have been on this rollercoaster ride. We fought and made up. We were aligned and then apart. Ups and downs, back and forth. And now, the ride is over. I am done.

Sally: Okay, yeah. I mean, I guess there’s no harm in a casual night out.

Audra: Exactly. You know, I just need a break. I want something uncomplicated. I just wanna have fun and enjoy myself and not stress about tucker’s ex or where we stand.

Sally: Yeah, that’s fair.

Audra: So, today it’s just dinner with nate.

Sally: Nate? You’re going to dinner with nate?

Audra: Uh…

Sally: Okay, um… I– I– I– sorry, I feel like I have to ask. Are you sure that you’re okay to do this? It’s not too fast?

Audra: Look, I am not wasting another moment thinking about tucker.

Sally: But what about your career and the company that you two were gonna run together?

Audra: Look, I don’t know what my next move is. I may still try and get a hold of glissade for myself. To snatch it away from tucker would serve him right.

Tucker: No, I’m in awe of you. Seriously.

Diane: Well, you should be. But coming from you, that’s an insult.

Tucker: It isn’T.

Diane: Hm.

Tucker: I love a good, long con. Oh, I beg your pardon. Um, a hard-fought battle. Right? Diane jenkins. The ultimate story of redemption. Of rebirth.

Diane: Are you done?

Tucker: What are you doing here by yourself?

Diane: Um, not that it’s any of your business, but I’m meeting a client who was supposed to be here by now.

Tucker: So, jabot seems like it’s in a good place right now.

Diane: Mm-hmm.

Tucker: The abbott king and queen reigning over their kingdom with their son, the heir apparent, doing their bidding by their side. It’s a nice, full family enterprise.

Diane: All right, just stop. Just stop. All this blowing smoke without an agenda is not your style. So, let me be clear, tucker. I will not divulge any information about my family or our business to you.

Tucker: Would you do me a little favor? Answer a simple question?

Diane: Just hurry up.

Tucker: Is there any chance that billy might leave chancellor-winters and return to jabot?

Nate: I’m not interfering in audra’s relationship with tucker, okay? This is dinner between two friends. Social, not professional.

Devon: Mm.

Lily: Hm.

Devon: I mean, I trust your intentions here.

Lily: Yeah, but audra’s a different story. I mean, she is very underhanded.

Nate: In certain circumstances. And trust I will not say a word about chancellor-winters or our current situation with billy. Nothing that could be used against us.

Lily: Yeah, I think discretion is best with her.

Nate: Point taken. And look, I am genuinely happy to be back here working with my family again, so I am not looking to mess that up.

Lily: Okay, good. Enjoy your dinner.

Devon: Yeah, have fun.

Lily: Mm-hmm. Bye. Well, that’s a friendship I didn’t think would last.

Devon: Yeah, it seems harmless enough, unless tucker has an issue with it. ‘Cause that’s a problem nobody needs.

Lily: Yeah, we definitely have enough on our plate right now.

Devon: Yeah. Oh, there’s something that you need to know. Uh, phyllis no longer works for us.

Lily: What?

Devon: Yeah.

Lily: What happened?

Devon: I found out that she divulged information about billy’s new position to tucker. And I don’t know if she did it on purpose or not.

Lily: Oh, yeah. Well, that’s cause for immediate firing.

Devon: Yeah, she actually quit before I had a chance to fire her.

Lily: Oh, that’s better. I mean, if she left on her own, we don’t have to worry about the fallout. I mean, I didn’t think that she would stick around that long after daniel left anyway.

Devon: Yeah, but it’s not like it was some well thought out resignation either.

Lily: Well, what were she and tucker talking about billy for anyways?

Devon: Well, I went to tucker to find out what his original plan was with mamie to get a foothold in chancellor-winters. To see if there was any information that we could use.

Lily: Wait, you went to tucker for help?

Devon: Yeah.

Lily: Please tell me that we’re not in so much trouble that you need him to save us.

A year after

a heart attack,

Diane: So, why are you asking about billy? What’s that angle?

Tucker: Just wanna know his status.

Diane: Oh, wait. Is this about another takeover attempt? If so, which business this time? Is it chancellor-winters or jabot? ‘Cause it’s kind of hard to keep track.

Tucker: It’s nothing like that.

Diane: Then what is it?

Tucker: Just looking out for devon. Doing whatever I can to help him. You would do the same thing for kyle, I’m sure.

Diane: Kyle can take care of himself, but as far as I know, billy is content to work for his mother’s company.

Tucker: Hm. So, there’s no way he would come back to jabot?

Diane: Well, is there a problem with him staying at chancellor-winters? Is there an issue between him and devon?

Tucker: Why would you ask that?

Diane: Well, because you just said that… you know what, tucker? I can’t help you. In fact, I don’t wanna help you.

[ Cell phone rings ] Excuse me. Oh, hello, mr. Foley. I was– I was getting worried. Will I see you here? My son did what?

Kyle: Summer and I did have another discussion about hiring you.

Claire: A discussion isn’t an agreement. Summer still isn’t on board with the idea, is she?

Kyle: I made my case as to why you were the best choice for harrison’s nanny. Unfortunately, summer still has concerns.

Claire: Well, then that’s that. If summer doesn’t feel comfortable, she’s his mother. She should be at ease with whoever her son’s caretaker is.

Kyle: Listen, harrison has been having these nightmares ever since he was kidnapped. He still has this lingering fear, but he’s always worrying about you, that you may be having the same bad dreams.

Claire: Oh, that sweet kid.

Kyle: And harrison cares about you. He wants you to be okay.

Claire: I want the same for him.

Kyle: Right, and I feel like seeing you on a regular basis will help him. Make him realize that he can be happy after this whole ordeal. You know, that you’re both okay. That he can go back to being a kid and stop worrying.

Claire: I’d like to help him to feel safe again. Not just, you know, do the things that he likes, but to feel joy and to be silly and goofy.

Kyle: And he needs someone to do that with. You know, a pal, an explorer, a confidant. Someone like you.

Claire: I really appreciate the offer, kyle. And I would love to say yes. But summer has to feel safe. Her son was taken from her. She loves him and she wants to protect him. I can’t undermine that. So, unless summer changes her mind, I can’t say yes.

Kyle: Okay, I will work on summer. Claire, I just can’t go another day with harrison worrying. So, please reconsider. Harrison needs you.

Audra: Evening.

Nate: Why, you look stunning. I mean… you always do, but tonight. Wow, I’m sorry.

Audra: Thank you. Ooh, you ordered for me?

Nate: Uh, yes, I– I think I remember what you like.

Audra: You do. Nice job.

Nate: Thank you.

Audra: You know, I was pleasantly surprised you finally asked me to dinner.

Nate: Uh, it made sense since I wanted to see you.

Audra: Okay, be honest. Did you just not want me to go to paris with tucker? Were you looking to protect me again?

Nate: Uh, you don’t need protection, audra. But I, uh, wanted to check in with you more often. You know, be a better friend.

Audra: Um, you’re already a decent friend.

Nate: A decent isn’t a ringing endorsement, so I plan to work on that.

Audra: Oh, I’m okay with that.

Nate: You know, I’m curious. Um, what’s your current job status? Are you still gonna work with tucker at glissade?

Audra: I still haven’t decided yet.

Nate: Good. Take your time. Figure out what’s best.

Audra: Yeah, um, I’m sure we can find a topic that isn’t about my career plans.

Nate: Okay, understood. So, uh, what would you like to talk about? In the past, we discussed, uh, company takeover attempts. We tried to suss out each other’s ulterior motives.

Audra: Yeah, you’ve, uh, you’ve offered me warnings. Um, and I’ve pushed you to go further, to be more ruthless. Like me.

Nate: You know, uh, how about we ignore business altogether? Keep it purely personal.

Audra: Novel idea.

Nate: Hm. Well, a toast. Not to power or success, but to the ambiance.

Audra: Hm.

Nate: Food.

Audra: Yep.

Nate: And, uh, most importantly, the company.

Audra: Cheers.

Devon: Going to tucker was just a spur of the moment thing. And I realized right afterwards why I don’t go to him with my problems. So, I promise you, we’re gonna handle this crisis just like we have in the past. And we’ll do it without tucker’s help.

Lily: We don’t need any more complications. Especially with tucker.

Devon: I completely agree with you. Hi.

Lily: Oh, flowers?

Devon: Oh, flowers.

Lily: Wow.

Devon: Uh, here, wanna take these?

Lily: So pretty.

Devon: There you go. Thank you. Who sent flowers?

Lily: I don’t know. Oh, wait. They’re for both of us. That’s weird.

Devon: Who’s it from?

Lily: “I hear your little plan to box me out didn’t work. Looking forward to working together. Best, billy.”

Devon: Are you serious? How mature of the guy.

Lily: Oh, my god. I mean, we did go behind his back.

Devon: Who cares? They went behind ours first. And I’d do it again if it means getting rid of billy abbott.

[Coughing]

Lily: God, I mean, this is so obnoxious.

Devon: Well, yeah, tell me about it.

Lily: But we had every right to not loop him in. I mean, he’s around right now trying to gain power within our company offices.

Devon: Probably gathering forces to use against us.

Lily: God, I just– I feel so betrayed by jill. That she would make this decision unilaterally to hand over all of her power to billy. It’s like I feel like I can’t trust either of them anymore.

Devon: I know what you mean. I’m just glad that you feel the same way I do about billy being a threat to the company. I just wish this damn vote went our way.

Lily: Well, look, don’t be too upset with abby. I kind of get why she voted against us.

Devon: Well, I’m not upset. I’m just disappointed in the whole thing.

Lily: What do you mean? You regret putting abby on the board?

Audra: Okay, so boarding school in england and then medical school at johns hopkins. Uh, fancy, fancy.

Nate: All right. You wanna continue to go through my resume. Go ahead. Make fun.

Audra: Oh, I’m not, much. Uh, did you do any traveling while you were abroad?

Nate: Uh, some. I ran around on the weekends. Uh, I also swam as a kid, so that kept me busy.

Audra: Competitive swimming?

Nate: Of course. What’s life without competition, audra?

Audra: You know, growing up, I actually did some dance competitions.

Nate: No, you did not.

Audra: Yes, I did.

Nate: What was your specialty?

Audra: Well, you know, I’m good at everything, um… but specifically, lyrical.

Nate: Lyrical? Okay, what’s that?

Audra: Uh, flowing movements, expressive, emotional storytelling. Which I later channeled into my focus on visual art.

Nate: Wow.

Audra: Are you impressed?

Nate: Very. I hadn’t realized how many hidden talents you have.

Audra: Oh, we’ve barely scratched the surface.

Tucker: Sorry to interrupt. Um…

Audra: Um, I’m busy, obviously.

Tucker: I know. Can we go somewhere to talk privately?

Audra: Look, I already said everything that I needed to say to you. Uh, and I’m busy.

Tucker: You obviously did not go to paris without me, and that has to mean something.

Audra: Yeah, it means that I– I wanted to stay to have dinner in genoa city. We already said everything there is to say and I made myself clear.

Tucker: No, please, can we go somewhere and talk?

Audra: This has been so lovely. Will you accompany me back to the athletic club for a drink?

Nate: Don’t mind if I do.

Audra: Let’s go.

[ Knock on door ]

Summer: I guess I should congratulate you on your new job. Good for you.

Claire: I didn’t accept the position.

Summer: Then, what are you doing here?

Claire: I was hoping to discuss with you why I said no, if you’ll listen.

[ Summer sighs ]

Summer: If we’re gonna have this conversation, then I’m gonna need a drink.

Diane: There you are. Are you having a drink to celebrate humiliating your mother?

Kyle: Hm. There’s was no humiliation, mom.

Diane: Oh, I beg to differ. I had a meeting tonight with jasper foley to discuss a licensing agreement.

Kyle: Yeah, I’m aware.

Diane: Oh, really? Well, are you aware that I was waiting for him at the club when he called to cancel because apparently my son had already sealed the deal?

Kyle: That is correct. I pulled off an impressive coup for jabot and I saved you from a boring dinner with an entitled eccentric.

Diane: Oh, no, no, no. I don’t need saving from a business client, kyle. Who I need saving from is you. I’m jonathan lawson,

Summer: Okay. Go ahead. Say your piece.

Claire: I saw kyle earlier, and he offered me the position as harrison’s nanny. Of course, when he did that, I assumed you were on board.

Summer: Yeah, I’m not.

Claire: And he admitted that eventually. I really wanted to accept, but I couldn’t, knowing that you didn’t approve.

Summer: You turned the job down because of me?

Claire: How could I not? You’ve been through enough already. It must’ve been absolute hell for you when jordan took harrison.

Summer: You have no idea.

Claire: I know that I’ve caused you pain with the trauma that I inflicted on your family, and now I’m a reminder of harrison’s abduction. I don’t wanna make things harder for you than my presence already has.

Summer: I appreciate that.

Claire: I do feel lucky to know harrison. He’s adorable and he’s so kind. And I’m really grateful that he doesn’t seem to blame me for the trauma he’s experienced. He sees me as an ally. We’re the two heroes who survived the wicked witch.

Summer: Look, I– I know that harrison likes you, but it doesn’t mean that it’s healthy for him to be around you.

Claire: You’re his mother. It’s your call. I just wanted you to know that it would be more than a job to me. I care about harrison. I would like to be there for him if I can. Be a part of his support system. But only if you approve.

Tucker: Hi, sally.

Sally: Hi.

Tucker: Um… do you have a minute?

Sally: You know, I actually don’t think I do.

Tucker: That’s too bad. I could use some advice right now.

Sally: We don’t really know each other that well.

Tucker: Yeah, that’s true.

Sally: Yeah.

Tucker: But you know audra. You guys are friends. I– I was hoping you could help me with that.

Sally: I’m not gonna betray audra’s confidence, if that’s what you’re asking.

Tucker: No, no, no. I just would like to hear that I haven’t blown things completely with her.

Sally: I don’t think you have.

Tucker: Yeah. I don’t know how much she’s told you, but the circumstances seem to have conspired against us recently and I don’t blame her at all for being upset about it. I’m not happy about it either. But now, I don’t know if there’s something going on with her and nate.

Sally: It– it– it’s just dinner. I really don’t think you can make too much out of it.

Tucker: Well, if she’s doing it to make me jealous, she’s succeeding. I love her. Am I losing her?

Sally: I think there’s hope for the two of you. But you have to make a change. If you don’t wanna lose audra, you have to get your act together.

Audra: I’m sorry to cut our dinner short.

Nate: No, no. No apology necessary. At least, not from you. Tucker has never known when to back down.

Audra: I still appreciate your understanding. You’ve been very patient.

Nate: Have I?

Audra: Yeah, I– I finally realized your warnings about tucker were valid. Took me long enough.

Nate: Well, it’s better late than never.

Audra: I’m not gonna let him take advantage of me anymore. I am ready to let him go.

Nate: I’m happy to hear that. For your sake. Well, um, tonight was fun. Let’s do it again sometime soon.

Audra: Yeah, I agree. But, we don’t have to end it here. Not when we were having so much fun.

Nate: Okay, uh, what do you suggest?

Audra: Well, we did come back here for a nightcap. Why not up in my suite?

Devon: No, I don’t regret putting abby on the board at all. I respect her and her business sense. I just wish I had a conversation with her beforehand.

Lily: Yeah, that would’ve been smart.

Devon: Yeah, probably. But, I will not be making that mistake again. I will not be surprising you or her with crucial decisions. We all have to be on the same page.

Lily: Yeah, I agree. Uh, did abby tell you that she revealed her board vote about daniel’s case to him?

Devon: She did. And we had a conversation and i told her that any and all information from board meetings stays private.

Lily: Okay.

Devon: It does.

Lily: Well, in the spirit of full disclosure, I’m rethinking daniel’s lawsuit and I wanna try to find some middle ground with him.

Devon: Really? Well, that’s your choice to make.

Lily: Yeah, but this mess with billy takes precedence.

Devon: I agree. And the way I see it, we have two options. We can either force him out or we can do together what I was trying to do on my own back when we were talking about the ipo.

Lily: You mean take winters back from chancellor-winters?

Devon: Exactly what I mean. We kill the merger and you and I leave chancellor behind. Sfx: [Birds chirping]

Kyle: Please, don’t overreact.

Diane: Oh, I think my reaction is perfectly reasonable. You hung me out to dry. I sat in the lounge waiting for a business client that you knew was never going to show!

Kyle: Oh, that wasn’t supposed to happen. Foley was supposed to cancel, tell you sooner. Mom, I’m sorry about that.

Diane: And– and that’s what you’re sorry about? Not about the fact that once again you went behind my back?

Kyle: The deal’s made. Who cares how it went down? And when dad gets home, you can go ahead and take credit for it.

Diane: Kyle, I don’t wanna take credit for something I didn’t do and I would never tell your father that I did.

Kyle: So, what do you want from me?

Diane: I want you to tell me why you keep doing this. Why you keep taking steps to sabotage me and then act like nothing’s happened.

Kyle: It’s not my fault how things went down. Okay. Truth is, foley came to me. He wanted to make a deal, but he didn’t think you had the chops to negotiate it.

Diane: Oh, please. He didn’t think so? Or you didn’t?

Summer: I respect that you care about harrison. And of course, I want my son to feel safe and reassured. I’m just not okay with it being because of you.

Claire: Is there anything I can say to change your mind?

Summer: I don’t think so. I understand that everyone else is ready to let go of all of the horrible things that you did to them, but I can’T.

Claire: It’s part of the reason why I want this job. To do something good, to make up for all of the bad.

Summer: Claire, you lied to my family. For months, you pretended to be someone else. You tricked my grandma. You held her hostage. You destroyed her sobriety. You poisoned my dad and my grandpa. People could’ve died because of you.

Claire: I can’t deny my part in any of that.

Summer: What would you do if you were in my position? Would you allow your child to be in the care of someone who’s done all of the things that you have?

Claire: I don’t know. But I do know I’m a different person now. I’m so much better. I’m not a threat to harrison or to you. Or to anyone else.

Summer: I’m sorry. I just don’t believe that.

Lily: You know, back when chancellor was my sole responsibility, I really believed in this partnership. And I fought really hard to keep it on track.

Devon: Yeah? How you feel now?

Lily: Now? I don’t know. I kind of regret it. Especially now that jill has pulled the rug out from underneath us with this whole billy thing.

Lily: I mean, how do we fix this?

Devon: We get out. We take mamie’s suggestion and we split the company in two. Billy even supported that idea. And that way he can go and run chancellor exactly the way he wants it and you and I can run winters together.

Lily: No, it’s not gonna be that easy. Jill really believes in keeping this merger in place and billy is gonna follow suit.

Devon: Okay, well then we force his hand and convince him otherwise.

Lily: Actually, we may not have to force his hand if we have the right incentive.

Audra: Salud. Mm.

Nate: Mm. It’s very nice.

Audra: Glad you like it. It’s tucker’S. The most expensive one.

Nate: Hm. Good choice.

Audra: You know, I was gonna pour it down the drain out of spite, but this is much better.

Nate: You know, I don’t, uh, I don’t think tucker would like this.

Audra: What?

Nate: Uh, me drinking his scotch. Being here with you.

Audra: Yeah, no, he– he wouldn’t like it at all. And I don’t care.

Nate: Hm. Maybe we should stop talking about tucker.

Audra: Yes, please. Let’S…

[ Knock on door ]

Tucker: Audra?

Audra: Are you– please, do the honors.

[ Knock on door ] Audra, please open up. So, I didn’t think I needed swiffer.

Lily: There’s another reason we need to fight billy and jill on this.

Devon: What’s the reason?

Lily: Billy tried to persuade me to push you down to a secondary role so that he and I could run the company together.

Devon: All right, why didn’t you tell me about that?

Lily: Because it was outrageous and I wasn’t gonna agree to it. And I didn’t wanna create drama, but I mean, that’s happened anyway.

Devon: Did you consider it?

Lily: No.

Devon: No?

Lily: No, no, no. I mean, I thought it was ridiculous.

Devon: I bet, ’cause it sounds insane.

Lily: But there might be a way we can use this idea to our advantage now.

Devon: How?

Lily: Well, what if I go to billy and I tell him I changed my mind and that I will join him, but with one condition. That we let the winters side go.

Devon: And you think that would work? That they would let go of winters to keep you at chancellor?

Lily: Yeah. I mean, jill would want me around because she knows that billy’s a wild card and that I can help balance him out. Billy would want me there because he doesn’t wanna handle the day-to-day things. It’s a perfect trade for both of them.

Devon: Hm. And then I guess billy can do whatever he wants with the company.

Lily: Yeah, and then you have the winters side and you’re in charge.

Devon: And then what happens after we pull that off? You gonna ditch them and you and nate are gonna come work with me?

Lily: Yeah, and leave jill and billy to their own devices. And then we can have our family company.

Devon: I mean, yeah, that could work.

[ Lily laughs ]

Lily: Oh, my god. Isn’t it funny how we’ve come full circle to mamie’s idea? Maybe we should offer her a role at our true family company.

Devon: Mm, yeah, we can think about it after we succeed. But there’s no guarantees.

Kyle: It’s not my fault people are aware you don’t have a business degree and little to no experience in the industry.

Diane: Oh, but I do have experience. In fact, I have many, many more years of experience as a working professional than you do. Plus, I have jack abbott’s complete support and confidence which matters very much in the business community.

Kyle: Okay, I don’t wanna argue. It’s not my fault what the corporate world thinks of you.

Diane: Yeah, but you don’t support me or defend me. You just try to– try to undermine me.

Kyle: Oh, that’s ironic coming from you.

Diane: What does that mean?

Kyle: You always try to keep me down. Aim to knock me down a peg or two. Make sure I never have enough autonomy or power. Isn’t that what you’re really after, mom?

Diane: How can you say that? I have been your biggest champion at jabot. I even tried to step down so that you could become co-ceo again, so don’t you dare. No, don’t you dare try to turn this around on me. We both know what’s happening here, kyle. And I love you, but it has to stop.

Kyle: Whatever you say.

Diane: Oh. [ Laughs ] Oh, and another thing, do not finalize the foley deal. Consider that a direct order from your superior.

Kyle: Love you too, mom. Marjorie. Hi. Just wanna make sure you saw the foley deal come through. Please draw up those papers first thing in the morning. It’s a done deal and it’s going through.

Tucker: Audra, what are you doing? What’s he doing here?

Nate: I was invited. How about you?

Tucker: Hey. We need to talk.

Nate: I think she’s made it pretty clear she has no interest in speaking to you, tucker.

Tucker: Sorry if I disappointed you.

Nate: Look, look, look, I don’t care about what happened between you two, but whatever it was, it was the last straw.

Tucker: Please.

Nate: Tucker, audra wants nothing more to do with you. So, if you were smart, you’d accept that and walk away with what’s left of your dignity.

Claire: Um, I’m actually not sure. What would you recommend?

Esther: Well, the double mocha latte is very popular and so is the butter pecan swirl. Oh, and the caramel macchiato. And you give it some zhuzh, extra whipped cream, rainbow sprinkles, and you’re good to go.

Claire: Rainbow sprinkles?

Esther: Yeah, you only live once, right?

Kyle: Hey, esther. I’ll have what she’s having.

Summer: Mom?

Phyllis: Hey! Oh, hey, did you get harrison to his lunch and safe?

Summer: Yeah, we did. He actually literally nodded off over his grilled cheese. I mean, he’s so exhausted since the kidnapping. I feel like it’s going to be a while before he’s back to 100%.

Phyllis: Yeah, but at least he knows we all love him very much and we want to make him feel safe.

Summer: You were great, by the way, in the park earlier. How you showed claire that there are boundaries when it comes to harrison.

Phyllis: Oh, well, I definitely saw what you were talking about. And harrison seems to be, like, a little obsessed with her. She’s not doing anything to deter that, which bothers me.

Phyllis: And even though she knows how you feel about her, she practically invited herself to lunch.

Summer: Hey, thank you. And kyle is doing nothing to shut it down.

Phyllis: Oh, trust me, I saw that too, okay? Now, diane’s not going to be help.

Summer: Why do you say that?

Phyllis: Because I ran into her and I thought that maybe she’d want to do something to protect her grandson. But she wasn’t interested.

Summer: I just hope that claire has finally gotten the hint and will actually keep her distance.

Cole: Hey. I was hoping you were victor.

Nick: Sorry to disappoint. I thought he might be home.

Cole: Ah, well, apparently that’s the case, but no one is exactly sure where he is.

Jordan: Oh. Victor. Victor. Victor. Victor… get me out of here, okay? Please? Time to let me go.

Victor: You’re in no position to make demands.

Jordan: You said you had a plan. So, what is it? I’ll do whatever you want. What do you want? Do you want mayhem? Chaos? Blood? I’m a woman. Nobody does it better. So, just tell me what you want.

Kyle: Well, if you’re worried about summer showing up, we could sit at two different tables and just sort of yell a conversation back and forth. Sound good?

Claire: It sounds loud.

Kyle: Yeah, one table it is then, if you have time.

Claire: I do. But do you? I mean, shouldn’t you be at the office?

Kyle: Oh, I get plenty of work done without the distraction of office drama.

Claire: Mm, what kind of office drama, if you don’t mind me asking?

Kyle: Nothing that won’t be solved sooner rather than later.

Summer: So, you don’t think I’m overreacting about claire?

Phyllis: Absolutely not. Listen, I had a refresher course in a life lesson. I’ve learned this lesson millions of times. When am I gonna finally get it? But people cannot be trusted to do the right thing. You have to watch out for yourself.

Summer: Exactly. That’s all I’m trying to do, and I’m trying to watch out for harrison, too.

Phyllis: I know you are. I’m really proud of you. Hey, I am glad that one of my kids is taking my advice.

Summer: Wait, was that a dig at daniel? Did something happen between you guys?

Phyllis: No, nothing happened. It’s just, you know, he didn’t show a lot of sympathy toward me when I told him that danny broke my heart and rode off into the rock and roll sunset. That’s all.

Summer: So, it’s about you and danny?

Phyllis: No. No, it’s about daniel. He was really off. He was kind of unhinged. I’ve seen it before. I’m just worried about him, to be honest.

Summer: Well, lily just fired him and– and basically stole omegasphere and now he’s in the middle of this huge lawsuit. Of course, he’s feeling down.

Phyllis: Yeah. Yeah, that makes sense. He’s not the only one who’s down. I’m out of work, too.

Summer: Wait, they fired you too?

Summer: Didn’t fire me. I quit.

Summer: Mom, you quit your job for daniel?

Phyllis: Yes, of course I did. I told you, I will always have my kids’ backs.

Summer: Why did you do that? What are you going to do now?

Phyllis: I’m going to order champagne.

Nick: I’ve looked everywhere. I can’t find him. Ranch security and the staff are pretty convinced he didn’t leave the property.

Cole: Well, the same thing happened when victoria and i came by. We were told that he was here and he wasn’T. And then when he finally showed up, he said he had gone down to the stables.

Nick: You don’t believe him?

Cole: You know, nicholas, I don’t think it’s my place to say.

Nick: Cole, you’re pretty close to family at this point. If there’s something bothering you, just say it.

Cole: Do you think it’s possible that victor’s keeping a secret?

Nick: Absolutely.

Victor: You know, it’s a beautiful day today. Spring day. Fresh breeze. I love to breathe in the air.

Jordan: Stop torturing me.

Victor: I’m just discussing the weather, that’s all.

Jordan: You said you had a plan.

[ Victor chuckles ]

Victor: I said we might have a plan.

Jordan: Then, let’s get it going. Unleash me. Tell me what you want and I’ll do it. And then I’ll go to prison for all eternity. As we agreed.

Victor: We have agreed to nothing.

Jordan: So, what do you want? What do you want? You want me down on my knees? Okay. Okay, okay. I’m on my knees. I’m on my knees. Humble. Humiliated. What do you want? You want me groveling at your feet? Done.

Victor: You tried to kill me. You tried to kill my family. Now, get up. Get up!

Jordan: I’m just– I’m just trying to tell you that–

Victor: Huh?

Jordan: I’m just trying to tell you that I’m ready to do whatever you want. So, what do you want? Because I’M… I’m a woman. I can do it better than anyone. I’m the bullet in your chamber. Pull the trigger.

Victor: Good talk! I love that. The bullet in my chamber. You’re full of it. You’re a pathetic creature. Can’t do nothing but harm to people, destroy people! Let me remind you. You ain’t in control. I’m adding downy unstopables to my wash.

Cole: So, you agree. Victor’s sitting on some kind of secret.

Nick: Cole, I think my dad’s got a secret like 99% of the time. Now, I don’t have anything specific at the moment, but I’m guessing you do.

Cole: It’s more of a feeling that I get from victor. On a couple of fronts.

Nick: A feeling?

Cole: Something that victor said to victoria and me. I mean, she’s afraid that he’s planning something against jack because of what happened to nikki.

Nick: No details?

Cole: Just that he wants all of the newmans to stay away from the abbotts, jack in particular.

Nick: Well, I mean, no surprise there. Dad hates the guy, especially right now. Um, what is the other front that’s worrying you?

Cole: Nick, I just, I don’t want to upset victoria unnecessarily, you know, because of everything that she’s gone through.

Nick: Yeah, I get it, but you can certainly tell me.

Cole: That’s why I’m coming to you. It’s jordan.

Nick: Jordan’s dead, cole.

Cole: That’s the thing. I think that there’s something off about victor’s claim that she died in that chase. Something doesn’t quite fit.

Nick: Okay, well, as long as she’s gone and no longer a threat, what does it matter?

Cole: Well, until her body is found, I feel like I need to protect victoria and claire. And I even expressed my concerns to victor.

Nick: What’d dad say to that?

Cole: He was very confident that jordan was out of our lives for good. He insisted that we’re safe and there’s nothing to worry about. But, nick, he wasn’t even bothered by the fact that her body hasn’t been found.

Nick: Well, there’s your answer right there.

Cole: Then, why am I even more concerned?

Jordan: Look at you. So smug. Doesn’t the master of the universe want to show off what he’s accomplished? Nikki would love this.

Victor: Don’t you mention her name again, okay?

Jordan: Nikki would let me out. Nikki saved my life. She could have stood there and watched me die.

Victor: Nikki is compassionate.

Jordan: Nikki is weak. She couldn’t finish the job.

Victor: But i am not compassionate.

Jordan: Well, you can’t keep me in here forever.

Victor: Why not?

Jordan: Well, because people will wonder. Wonder where I am.

Victor: Why the hell should they wonder where you are? You’re dead, as far as they’re concerned.

Jordan: I am very much alive. What did you do?

Victor: When you were going to meet nikki in the alley to make a deal, I had my security team follow you. You got scared. You ran away in a panic. You ran across the galewood river bridge. You slipped. You plunged into the cold water 100 feet below. Dark, cold water. Ooh. By now, they’ll think you’re in lake michigan.

Jordan: You bastard. None of the good stuff for me? Nikki drink it all?

[ Jordan grunts ]

Victor: For the last time, don’t ever mention nikki again.

Jordan: Oh! I’m sorry. I’m sorry, victor! Come back! Victor! Victor! Victor! I’m– I’m sorry.

Claire: Your mom was married to my grandfather.

Kyle: And my dad was married to your grandmother.

[ Both chuckle ]

Claire: You have seen a lot of marriages.

Kyle: And divorces and affairs.

Claire: Your parents seem happy.

Kyle: Yeah, they are. But it took them a while to get there.

Claire: It’s good that you know what love looks like, though. That’s why this living at the ranch with my mom has been so wonderful. I finally get to see real love close up. And it’s even better than in every book I’ve ever read.

Kyle: You were a little bookworm.

Claire: Still am. And, yeah, I just, I craved that kind of love all my life. Who knew the real thing would be even better? Parents. A family that’s kind and accepts you, even though there’s a lot to forgive. And nikki and victor. I mean, after all these years, everything they’ve been through, good and bad, they still find a way to look at each other like they’re the only two people in the room.

Kyle: Goals, right?

Claire: Yeah.

Kyle: Yeah. In the meantime, I’m busy focusing on harrison and jabot.

Claire: And I am just as focused on getting a job. As generous as my family has been, there’s no way that I’m going to live off of them.

Kyle: Yeah. Look, I can’t tell you how sorry I am that that job isn’t with harrison.

Phyllis: Here we go.

Summer: Mom, quitting a perfectly good job? It’s a little extreme, even for you. I mean, I know you like to go big, but even for you.

Phyllis: I don’t know. Devon was talking about me breaking my confidentiality agreement or something.

Summer: Wait, I thought that you said that you quit in solidarity with daniel.

Phyllis: Yes, yeah, he was probably going to fire me anyway.

Summer: Mom.

Phyllis: I wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction. Come on, toast to me for standing up for myself and all that blah, blah, blah stuff. You’re not very enthusiastic.

Summer: You’re unemployed, so.

Phyllis: You know that lily and devon were going to axe me anyway. They got rid of daniel without just cause. They weren’t going to keep me around. It is so unfair. Your brother gave his heart and soul to that company, and for them to throw him out like a piece of garbage? I think someone should make them pay. Depression is a journey.

Summer: Okay, but you don’t mean you, right? You’re not going to be making lily and devon pay. You’re talking about hypothetically, karmically, if the world were fair. You’re not actually going to be plotting revenge against chancellor-winters, right?

Phyllis: Uh, well, we both agreed that we should take care of ourselves, right? I vote for justice.

Summer: Yes, and that will happen. There is a system in place. Just trust that.

Phyllis: Oh, okay. I’ll trust the system. Sure. Listen, lily fired your brother because she got her feelings hurt and that’s the only reason that happened. He gave everything to that company and what’s she doing? She’s keeping his games, she broke his heart and, um, she’s going to make millions off of my son’s brilliance. That is wrong. It’s so wrong. I can’t ignore it.

Summer: Okay, but what about you trying to be a better person? You’ve been doing so well, mom. Why ruin a good streak?

Phyllis: Summer! I am being a good person. I’m protecting my son and I’m fighting for my son. How far would you go for harrison?

Summer: Harrison is a kid. Daniel can take care of himself.

[ Phone pinging ] Oh, my gosh. Uh, I gotta go. I gotta check in on harrison. Mom… please do not burn chancellor-winters to the ground.

[ Phyllis chuckles ]

Phyllis: No. Well, my password still works. If that’s not a sign, I don’t know what is.

Nick: I’m not sure where you’re going with this, cole. Are you suggesting my father had something to do with jordan’s death?

Cole: Jordan has gotten away from the authorities, from victor, too many times. If she actually did fall into this river, I would think that victor would have his men dredging it 24/7 until they found her body, that he would want solid proof with no doubt that jordan is out of our lives for good. But instead, he’s not even concerned that we don’t have any evidence of her death.

Nick: There were several witnesses who claimed to see jordan fall into the river.

Cole: All on victor’s security team.

Nick: Okay, cole, um… I hear you. After everything this family has been through, I really think you should let this one go.

Cole: Understood. But if there’s even the slightest chance that jordan is still alive, there’s no way I’m letting my guard down until we have all the answers.

Victor: Gentlemen.

Nick: Dad?

Cole: Hey. We were just wondering where you were.

Victor: I just went a few rounds with the old bag.

Nick: That a boy.

Victor: You know. Did you come here for the sifton contract, son?

Nick: Yeah. You done with them?

Victor: I signed it all, and thank you for taking care of that.

Nick: No problem.

Victor: Yep.

Nick: Have you heard from mom?

Victor: Yeah. She’s getting stronger.

Nick: Good. I can’t wait till she gets home.

Victor: Well, join the club, son.

Nick: Yeah, I gotta jump on this. Thank you.

Victor: Thank you for doing it. Yep.

Cole: Thank you, nick.

Victor: So, cole, what can I do for you?

Summer: You had another bad dream? Tell me about it.

Harrison: The witch. She wanted to get me again. I’m scared, mommy.

Summer: Oh, sweetie. Everything is okay. You’re okay.

[ Summer sighs ] Hey, why don’t I text your dad, get him to come home? Maybe a little bit of family time will help you feel better. Yeah? Okay.

Claire: Do not apologize. It’s not up to you or your family to employ me. I will figure it out.

Kyle: Oh, I have no doubt you will. I wish summer liked the idea. I mean, harrison likes you. He trusts you. You both went through a terrifying ordeal and came out the other side. He needs someone like that, someone who knows what he went through, he can relate with. Shouldn’t that be the priority? Not summer’s irrational worries, what’s best for harrison?

Claire: I– I appreciate your belief in me. But… maybe you could go easy on summer.

Kyle: Really?

Claire: Since the kidnapping, sometimes… I can hear my mom open my door when she thinks I’m sleeping, and she just… watches me for a few minutes. Make sure I’m there, I’m safe. Harrison’s a little boy. I can’t imagine what summer went through when he was missing, how terrified she must have been. So, I’m a reminder of that, along with my past. If summer doesn’t want me around… I have to understand that. And I hope you can too.

[ Phone pings ]

Kyle: Um, I have to go, but I hope we can talk again soon.

Claire: I’d like that. Give harrison my love.

Kyle: I will. I would’ve called yesterday.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

Kyle: Oh! Oh! Hey, buddy. Heard you had a bad dream.

Harrison: Very bad.

Kyle: You wanna talk about it?

Harrison: The witch wanted to take me away.

Summer: You know that she can’t do that, right? Your big, strong dad is not gonna let her or anyone else hurt you ever again.

Kyle: Mom’s right. You’re safe here.

Harrison: But what about claire?

Summer: What about her?

Harrison: She might have the same bad dreams.

Kyle: Why would you say that?

Harrison: The witch took her away and left her someplace dark and scary.

Claire: Did claire tell you that?

Harrison: The witch told me. She said if I wasn’t good, she’d take me to a scary place.

Kyle: You know that’s not gonna happen, right, buddy? No one will ever get to you again. Your mom and I will make sure of that.

Summer: This right here is the safest place in the world. Got that?

Harrison: Can claire come over so she can feel safe too?

Cole: So, I was thinking about giving claire some riding lessons.

Victor: Oh.

Cole: It’s been a while since I’ve been the ranch hand around here.

Victor: Yeah.

Cole: I was hoping maybe you could steer me in the direction for the right horse for her.

Victor: That’s a wonderful idea. I’d love to help. There’s our girl.

Cole: Hey. How was crimson lights?

Claire: How weird is it that getting a coffee is still an adventure?

Cole: It’s not weird at all. But speaking of such, I have another idea for an adventure.

Claire: Yeah?

Cole: I was thinking about giving you riding lessons. I mean, if you’re interested.

Claire: Yeah, that would be amazing.

Cole: Yeah? All right.

Victor: I got the right horse for you. Midnight blue. Steady horse, strong stride. You’ll fall in love with him.

Claire: I don’t know what any of that means. I love him already. But what if I’m not any good?

Victor: Don’t you worry about a thing, okay? Riding is in the newman blood. It’s in your genes. Both victoria and nikki are wonderful riders. And you’ll follow in their footsteps.

Claire: I hope so.

Victor: I know so. So, why don’t you, both of you, join us for dinner? Victoria will come over soon. All right?

Cole: Hey, well, that sounds good.

Victor: You better bring a good appetite, because the cook is preparing a prime roast with brussels sprouts.

Claire: I’ve never had brussels sprouts.

Cole: Really?

Claire: Yeah.

Cole: Never?

Claire: No, no. Jordan despised them with a passion. So, the smell of them would make her retch. I’ve never had them.

Victor: Oh, yeah?

[ Chuckles ] Well, that’s interesting. Anyway, why don’t you two go down to the stables, meet midnight blue, all right? And the other horses.

Cole: You’re more than welcome to join us.

Victor: Well, I appreciate the invitation, but I have something I must attend to first.

Nick: Hey.

Phyllis: Hey. Hi.

Nick: Hi. What are you doing?

Phyllis: Nothing.

Nick: Yeah, that’s what it looked like.

Phyllis: No, really, I’m doing nothing.

Nick: Yeah, I saw the chancellor-winters logo before you nearly broke your computer slamming it shut. It is not a secret that you work there.

Phyllis: I don’t work there anymore.

Nick: Oh. They fired you?

Phyllis: I quit. Why does everybody think they fired me? Although, they would have fired me or anybody else who’s connected to daniel. Lily and devon are going all scorched earth.

Nick: So they fired you.

Phyllis: I quit.

Nick: But you logged on, and you don’t want anyone to see that, so I can’t shake the feeling that you’re about to scorch your own earth.

Phyllis: I’m just looking for justice for my son.

Nick: What kind of justice?

Phyllis: A virus or two, maybe. Some not-so-flattering comments left on the chancellor-winters site, or maybe diverting some omegasphere players to another game.

Nick: You cannot be serious.

Phyllis: I’m not serious. Of course– of course I’m not. Nothing has been done yet.

Nick: All right. Well, what are we waiting for? I’m in. Let’s do this. I told myself I was ok

Summer: Well, mrs. Martinez’s cookies saved the day again. Harrison had one in each hand.

Kyle: That’s my boy.

Summer: If only they could take away his bad dreams.

Kyle: Hmm.

Summer: Kyle, what are we gonna do?

Kyle: For starters, I think we should bring on claire as a trial run for harrison’s nanny.

Summer: Are you joking me right now? Our son is having nightmares and you wanna talk about claire? Can we please just focus on harrison for now and we can discuss claire later? Or you know what? Better yet, just let her own family deal with her, okay?

Kyle: Summer, you saw harrison and claire at the park. The trauma they went through has bonded them. He feels as safe with her as he does with us. Isn’t that important?

Summer: Of course it’s important.

Kyle: Okay, then what’s– what’s your idea? Given what the boy’s been through, do you–

Summer: Can you…

Kyle: Do you really think it’s a good idea to introduce him to a stranger and ask him to trust her? How do you think that will go over? And you know how picky he is with who he likes, and now his trust issues are on a whole other level.

Summer: Okay, you do not need to explain our son’s issues to me.

Kyle: Then you see the wisdom in my suggestion. Claire isn’t a threat. She’s a solution. And maybe, maybe if you stop fighting it, we can hurry up and help our son.

Summer: Wow, so I’m the bad guy in this?

Kyle: No. No. No, no one is the bad guy in this, and I’m sorry if I’ve made you feel that way. I just see our son upset and I wanna fix it.

Summer: Well, so do I.

Kyle: I know you do. And claire has made it clear that she understands how protective you are and she respects what a good mom you are.

Summer: When was– when are you two having all of these conversations?

Kyle: Summer, the point is, claire isn’t chasing the job because she puts harrison’s bond with you, his mother, first. Isn’t that what we want in a nanny?

Phyllis: I know what you’re doing. It’s reverse psychology. It’s not gonna work on me.

Nick: No. No, I am down. I cannot wait to hear about all your deepest, darkest revenge fantasies.

Phyllis: Well, what I was thinking of doing, since you’re interested, is just creating enough havoc so that lily and devon regret firing my son.

Nick: And you, of course.

Phyllis: Of course. But mainly daniel. And they beg him to come back, and they give him a huge raise, along with me, and fancier title.

Nick: Hmm. Well, I mean, it sounds great. Uh, I’m just wondering if you have considered what the fallout may be. Like, what happens when chancellor-winter’s cybersecurity team traces the virus back to you?

Phyllis: Please. Please. Ugh. I’m not an amateur. I cover my tracks.

Nick: Okay, so a virus just happens to show up in their system shortly after one of their top programmers gets fired.

Phyllis: Their top programmers? I was their top programmer. And they’re gonna find out the hard way.

Nick: Well, I’m just saying it’s gonna be very difficult to take that victory lap when they confiscate your laptop. Then they’re gonna haul daniel’s butt in for questioning, and then our daughter’s gonna have to deal with the fact that her mother is on the most wanted list yet again.

Phyllis: Ugh. Okay. Ugh. How do you do that? I mean, how– how do you make me realize that what I’m doing is wrong? Okay, I’m not– I’m not– I’m not gonna do this. I won’t plant a virus.

Nick: You’re angry.

Phyllis: Yeah. Okay. So…

[ Sighs ] I won’t plant this virus. I won’t do anything like that. So, now what? Now what do I do?

Nick: Well, I’m not gonna solve all your problems for you. What would be the fun in that?

Phyllis: Do you know anybody who, you know, wants a professional pot stirrer? Because I think I’d be really great at that.

Nick: I think you should aim higher than that. Great color on you, by the way.

Phyllis: Thank you. It’s electric.

Summer: You say that it’s all about harrison, and then you make it all about claire. Look, I wish her the best. I really do. But the fact is, she has had serious issues, and I find it hard to believe that, poof, all of a sudden, she’s totally sane, all better, and we should trust her with our child.

Kyle: Summer, claire has been through hell. And she somehow still has so much kindness in her and she’s finding her way in this.

Summer: You know what? If you wanna help claire, you go do that. That’s great. Take on your charity project. Just leave our son out of it. Why are you so invested in helping claire, by the way?

Kyle: Again, this isn’t about claire. My goal is to help harrison. Have you ever seen him so open and relaxed with someone he just met?

Summer: Kyle, we will find another someone. Hey, buddy. Oh. Whoa. Is that cookie number three? Okay, now that your belly’s full, do you wanna go outside and play, or do you wanna read a story?

Harrison: Can you call claire to make sure she’s okay?

Kyle: We can do better than that. How would you like claire to be your new nanny?

Harrison: Yay!

Cole: Victor, listen, I just wanted to check that… victor? Victor, you here?

[ Loud clanging ]

[ Jordan gasps ]

Jordan: Oh!

Victor: Want some food?

Jordan: No. Whatever– whatever that is, take that away. Take it away.

Victor: Oh, you complained about the menu before. So I brought you some wonderful food. Full of fiber. Makes you strong. Brussels sprouts.

Jordan: Oh, god. Oh, god. I can’t breathe. Just bring me something else. Anything. Anything.
