This is an ongoing investigation. Publishing the contents of the letter might undermine the lead. I understand, but what if — if publishing the letter causes this lunatic to slip up? You mean cause her to make good on her threat and go after you instead of her next intended victim? Let me remin d you, we don’t knowwho the killer is yet. We don’t know her motives or who might be her next victim. I understand the risk, but what if a reader rec– what if a reader gets killed confronting her, tipping her off somehow? Well, you’ve already expressed concern over causing oz haggerty’s death. That’s hitting below the belt. Well, because I need you to understand. Let’s make a deal. [ Laughs ] It was my fault. I’m responsible for all of this. It was an accident. How do you know? How much did you see? I heard you and reiko arguing. By the time I made it over to the stairs, she was lying at the bottom, and you were standing over her. So you don’t know if it was an accident. I know you never would’ve pushed her deliberately. None of this would’ve happened if I hadn’t betrayed my marriage and my family. What did happen after reiko fell? She suffered a concussion and had internal bleeding. And when did you find out? Almost as soon as it happened. You were in quite a state. Your father was so worried about you that he came to me and confessed to everything. You were still a minor. We didn’t want to get tangled up in their legal system, so we put in for a transfer and got relocated. So what did — did reiko just go back to finn? After the fall, reiko needed a blood transfusion. That’s how she contracted the disease that killed her.

Reiko died because of me. That’s an oversimplification. Like your father said, it was an accident. An accident that I caused that led to her death. Why else would i block it out? At first, you didn’T. After the accident, you had horrible nightmares and were sleepwalking. One night, sarah found you perched at the top of the stairs at home. It terrified us. We worried that you would do harm to yourself. I prescribed you sedatives to help you sleep. And I started coaching sessions with you. Coaching? To discourage the memory. You brainwashed me to forget? We didn’t brainwash you. We were at our wit’s end trying to help you. Nothing was working. Is that why you sent me away? We sent you away not because we didn’t love you. She sent you a letter through the usps? How quaint. What’d it say? Nothing quaint. She threatened me. Alexis, stop being glib. She told me to mind my own business and that she was going after people that had wronged her. What else did she say? See for yourself. I thought you said they confiscated the letter. Not before I made a copy.

Sending you to live away from us was the only way we could protect you. And dad’s reputation. It’s not about that. You’re a mother, lizzie. You know there’s nothing a parent won’t do to shield their child from pain. We’ve made mistakes, and I know you thought we’d abandoned you, but that’s just not true. As much as it hurt to lose our connection to you, better than losing you forever. So instead, you drugged me, programmed me, and then kicked me out. To protect your precious reputations. Hope it was worth it.

[ Door closes ] Yes, I have a very special algorithm which could land me in a very special federal penitentiary, w-which is why you — didn’t you just discourage me from using my masterpiece in my business venture? Nick: You know, if you feel so strongly about hiring nate, put him in one of our other divisions. Why does he have to be the ceo of newman media?

Victoria: I’ve already made my decision, and nate’s accepted the position. You need to get on board.

Nick: I still think you’re doing this just to erase all traces of adam from newman.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] This isn’t about him.

Nick: Well, it’s certainly not about sally’s performance, and I can’t believe you would risk a woman’s career and opportunities just because she got involved with our brother.

Adam: Thank you. I don’t know if anybody’s going to come out and admit this, but I just — I want you to know that you’ve done an excellent job at newman media, and it just — it doesn’t make a damn bit of sense to let go of somebody with your drive and your talent and energy.

Sally: But you know what a waste of time it is to try and figure out the newmans and their bad decisions.

Adam: Indeed. You deserved better, sally.

Sally: Well, as disappointing as this is, my removal didn’t come as a total shock because I know that victoria has made it painfully clear that I was just here on a trial basis, and she meant trial by fire. But I jumped through every hoop in heels. Still c’est la vie.

Sally: Yeah, well, when you’ve absorbed as many hits as I have, you learn to roll with the punches.

Adam: You know, you say this is victoria’s decision, but I just — I can’t help but wonder how much say nick had in this.

Ashley: Just trying to get as much information about diane as I can. Hopefully, she and tucker will be leaving genoa city for good.

Victor: I understand that tucker mccall was trying to impress everyone terribly at summer’s reception by landing a damn helicopter.

Ashley: Ridiculous, actually. But, you know, he’s always trying to make a splash. I have everything under control. I can handle things.

Phyllis: Thank you. Okay, well, I’m having a hard time coming up with new excuses as to why I’m late at work, so I hope it’s worth it.

Victor: You know, it’s amazing to see the three of you beautiful women sitting together. I mean, my goodness, an unlikely alliance. Diane jenkins brought you all together. Good luck.

Nikki: So what did you learn about diane?

Phyllis: Yeah, I have a feeling it’s big. Honestly, it has to be explosive. Really, enough to send that bitch packing for good.

Jack: I know all of this is not easy to hear, but diane has been hiding her connection to tucker since she came back to town.

Kyle: I can’t believe tucker mccall was the one who found out allie even existed. He dangled that information in front of my mother so she could get back into our good graces.

Summer: Oh, my god. Do you remember how shocked and outraged she was when tucker crashed our vow renewal? That was all an act? Wow. She’s good.

Jack: Diane says that all she wanted from the very beginning was a relationship with kyle, and I happen to believe her.

Summer: And what was it that diane was giving tucker in return?

Jack: Tucker wants to rebuild a relationship with ashley. Diane’s job was to feed him information that would get him closer to ashley.

Summer: That’s despicable.

Kyle: How did you find out about this? Is your source even reliable?

Jack: My source is your mother, and she admitted all of this. When you really need to sleep.

Nick: I’m not being defensive. I’m taking issue with how you’re handling things. And I do not appreciate you using my relationship with sally to justify hiring nate.

Victoria: It was a smart move, far more savvy than keeping sally and her allies in place, which you would’ve realized if you didn’t let your affection for the woman blind you to the business realities.

Nick: I think my perspective is a lot clearer than yours.

Victoria: Look, I’m not making a judgment call on your personal life. If you want to continue to see her, that’s your prerogative.

Nick: Oh, thank you, vick, for your permission.

Victoria: But I don’t regret my choice at all. It’s what’s right for newman media.

Victor: I agree with you.

former association with me. I know that there may be some tension between you and summer and the abbotts, but I’d be happy to try to help you open some doors at jabot and marchetti.

Sally: I don’t want any favors, especially not from you since I know you’re only offering to assuage your guilt.

Adam: That is not what I’m doing, okay? I want to help. If I can help, I want to do that.

Sally: Look, this is not my first rodeo. Okay? I really need to get back to clearing out. And, apparently, you need to get in touch with chelsea.

Adam: Okay. Good luck, sally.

Nikki: Are you saying that diane actually admitted to jack that she conspired with tucker when they were in los angeles, and tucker is the one that told her about allie and who she was to the abbotts?

Ashley: Yep, she did, indeed.

[ Nikki and phyllis sigh ]

Phyllis: You know why this is? Because we kept applying pressure. We kept on digging in.

Nikki: We backed her into a corner, and she got scared.

Ashley: Yeah, so scared she had to come clean.

Phyllis: I like this feeling. I like it a lot. I like the feeling, “I knew that smiling viper was full of it, and I knew she was lying, and soon everybody else is going to know she’s lying, too,” feeling. I like this. I’m going to enjoy it. We got her, girls.

Tucker: I apologize if i came off as threatening the other day.

Diane: Whoa, I — I’m afraid I misunderstood. It sounds like you said you’re sorry.

Tucker: Well, when you told me that you told jack our secret, I was naturally caught off guard. Mea culpa.

[ Chuckles ] I didn’t realize honesty was part of your repertoire.

Diane: Well, I’m capable of a great many things.

Tucker: So it seems.

Diane: Hm.

Tucker: “Seems.”

For instance, from your perspective, confessing seems like a great move, yeah? ‘Cause you — you got out in front of the problem, and you turned the tables on me, pulled the rug out from under me. Diane: What are you getting at, tucker?

Tucker: Nothing. It’s just that you told jack our secret, and I’m forgiving you.

Diane: How magnanimous?

Tucker: And now you’re — you are free of my villainous clutches, right? And I’ve lost half my dream. But you know what? You did what you had to do. I can’t undo it, so I’m just going to have to accept it. Survival of the fittest, right?

Diane: You know, I would be a fool to take your forgiveness at face value. You are much too treacherous and unpredictable to trust.

Tucker: Now you’re hurting my feelings.

Diane: But I am curious. What was the other half of your dream?

Nick: So you approve of vick’s decision to replace sally with nate?

Victor: I certainly do. Think about it, son. Nate studied medicine. He’s very logical, very plausible, and he’ll make the right decisions.

Nick: He’s also a traitor to his family.

Victor: But he’s been loyal to us. I bet you whatever challenge we put before him, he’ll solve it.

Well, we already had someone in that position with incredible vision, someone who was making real progress in that division.

Victor: I get the feeling, son, that there’s more to it than you’re letting on. Whatever you’re up to, I would suggest you forget about it, okay, and let her go.

Nick: Why do you care, dad?

Victor: Why do I care? Because she has managed to turn my son adam against our family by constantly feeding into his resentments. I don’t want that to happen to you.

Nick: So that’s where we’re at. We’re just manufacturing grounds to fire sally, just making up stories out of thin air.

Victor: Just listen to what I’m telling you.

Nick: No, here’s what we’re not talking about. We’re not talking about her ability as ceo because there is nothing to criticize. Numbers — up and climbing. Does she have the respect of her employees? Hell, yes. Has she been able to handle everything that’s been thrown at her? Absolutely.

Victoria: And I wish her all the best in her future endeavors. Really, I do. But she’s not the best person to run newman media.

Nick: The only mistake she ever made was she missed one meeting. Who hasn’t done that? But I guess her getting involved with adam is just unforgivable. You two are the ones who are letting your personal feelings color your business decisions. But me? Nope. Because my personal life is exactly that. It’s personal.

Phyllis: I still can’t believe that diane was able to ruin our lives, come back from the dead, and convince kind, decent people that she, too, is one of them. She’s just a doting grandmother. Harrison’s dee dee. Pbht!

Ashley: Kudos to us for not taking her at face value, right?

Nikki: Hey, we performed a public service, not that we’ll be thanked for it.

Phyllis: No, no, but you know what? Getting rid of diane is reward enough for me.

Phyllis: And he’s not laughing in her face.

Ashley: He seems like he’s willing to accept what she told him, but I think that’s only because she’s given him a very, very sanitized version of the story, including what tucker expects from her.

Phyllis: I can’t believe this. I mean, I thought that jack was way smarter than this. I — hang on. Okay. Maybe he just needs some time so the truth can sink in, and then he’ll start believing what we’ve been telling him all along.

Nikki: Or maybe she has dug her claws into him so deep that he thinks she deserves a second chance.

Phyllis: God, and then kyle will follow suit, and then diane will get away with all of her lies and all of her manipulation.

Ashley: I think she is just going to dig in deeper. She’s going to hold on tighter to kyle and jack, and she’s never going to let go.

Nikki: Well, we can’t let that happen. I mean, we have got to find a way to get her out of our lives for good.

Jack: And then diane started seeing someone by the name of jeremy stark. Claims he swept her off her feet, gave her wonderful gifts, exotic vacations all around the world. All was going very well until it turned out he was stuffing large amounts of cash in her luggage.

Summer: Wait, what? Why?

Jack: He was using her as a courier to launder money.

Kyle: Oh, my god.

Jack: Diane realized what a difficult situation she was in. She tried to get out of it. She couldn’T. He knew her history. He knew she had faked her own death. He knew she was complicit in his crime. And he threatened to have her arrested.

Summer: This is insane.

Jack: When he himself was arrested, diane expected the police to come looking for her. When they didn’t, she thought maybe she was free of this nightmare. The nightmare had just changed shape. He somehow knew of her entanglement with this jeremy stark, swore he would stay quiet about it, and, true to form, convinced her that they could be of service to each other.

Kyle: Quid pro quo.

Jack: Yeah, he would feed her information about allie that we all would be grateful to her for. She, in turn, would feed him as much information as she could find about ashley so that he could get close to her. And she couldn’t say no. No, not if she wanted any chance of getting what she truly wanted, a relationship with you.

Kyle: That doesn’t negate the lies that she told me.

Jack: I thought you both should know the whole story. You have all the information to decide how you want to move forward with diane, whether or not you want her to be a part of your life.

Diane: I know you wanted me to get access to jabot’s financial statements and pass it along to you as well as giving you information about ashley’s personal life, and I did what I was told.

Tucker: Partly.

Diane: Well, I told you I was never in a position to get my hands on jabot’s financial information.

Tucker: Yeah, you could’ve if you’d tried harder.

Diane: I don’t even know what you’re going to do with it. Were you planning on some maneuver to take control of jack’s company? I know that takeovers have always been your M.O., But that didn’t even make sense to me because it seems like you’re sincere about winning ashley back.

Tucker: I am.

Diane: Well, tucker, how can that be your dream? I mean, how can she ever love the man who’s trying to take her family company away from her?

Tucker: Who said I’m trying to take it away from ashley?

Adam: Yeah, billy, it’s adam — again. Call me when you get this. I’m trying to get in touch with chelsea, and you’re the last person that I saw her with. I need to know what is going on. Just let me know that she’s okay.

Nick: Hey.

Adam: Glad to see you can make time for a coffee break after firing such a talented executive. You destroyed her hopes and dreams, nick. But, hey, why should that bother you? It’s the newman way, right?

Nick: [ Sighs ] If you’re looking for a fight, find someone else. I’m really not in the mood.

Adam: I guess you’re not used to being held accountable for your actions.

Nick: If you have a problem with the way sally’s being treated, that’s got nothing to do with me.

Adam: Yeah, I mean, nothing is ever your fault. But you know what? At least own up to the real reason why you slept with her. Did you do it because you knew it was a surefire way to get under my skin?

Nick: [ Sighs ] Don’t flatter yourself. You never crossed my mind. Not once.

Adam: Did you ever give any thought to what’s best for sally, or did you just decide what’s best for you? You grabbed what you wanted, but now that you have your fun, she’s disposable?

Adam: You can’t honestly expect me to believe that you had real feelings for sally, because there is no way.

Nick: You don’t know anything about me.

Sally: [ Sighs ] Gentlemen. Is there a problem?

Nick: Man, shut up.

Adam: It’s obvious that he used you to hurt me, and now that he’s done with you, he’s cutting you loose.

Nick: None of that’s true. Adam’s having a lousy morning. We just happened to cross paths. I’m a convenient target.

Adam: Look, I don’t have time for this. I have more important things to deal with.

Nick: You don’t believe anything he said about us, do you?

Sally: [ Exhales sharply ] When he’s hurt, he lashes out. I don’t know. Maybe it makes it easier if he genuinely believes it. But, no, I never thought for a second that he was right about us.

Sally: I’ve been better. I just kicked into survival mode.

Nick: And what does that mean for you?

Sally: Means I start spouting helpful sayings, like, “when one door closes, another door opens,” or, “I was just warming up. Stay tuned for my next act,” or, “what the hell were they thinking? I’m the best thing that they’ve seen in ages.”

Nick: I admire how resilient you are. I’m just sick about how this whole thing played out.

Sally: Yeah, that makes two of us.

Jack: I haven’t told anyone else about diane’s involvement with this man who was laundering money.

Kyle: So this is not public knowledge?

Jack: Not yet. I just found out myself yesterday. Ashley knows about tucker recruiting diane and his plan, but not about the rest.

Summer: Understood.

Jack: I just thought the two of you should know the whole story and the context in which the whole thing happened.

Kyle: It’s difficult news to hear, but better to know the truth.

Jack: I’m asking both of you to keep it to yourselves.

Kyle: Of course. This is not news I want to go spread around town. “Hey, did you hear what my mother was up to while she was pretending to be dead?”

Jack: I’m sure you both have questions, as did I.

Summer: I’m sorry. I just — I can’t help but wonder why she told you this now. Is the timing another calculation on her part? Is she sharing this information to avoid it coming out another way later?

Jack: In a way, yeah.

Kyle: Meaning what?

Jack: Diane learned that phyllis continued to talk to talia morgan.

Kyle: With the investigative journalist?

Jack: Yes, once she realized that phyllis had not given up on her, would never give up on her, that there were people in town, like nikki, who would be more than happy to offer phyllis an assist. She worried that this story, or part of it, would surely come to light.

Summer: My mom promised me that she’d stopped trying to implicate diane, but she just kept on digging?

[ Scoffs ] Looks like diane wasn’t the only one who’s been lying.

Phyllis: Oh, god. You guys, you guys, we did not work this hard to get rid of diane just to have jack forget and forgive her.

Nikki: I am shocked that he was able to get past the fact that diane used his own granddaughter to manipulate him. I mean, that every single move was carefully choreographed.

Ashley: Yeah, it’s disgusting.

Nikki: Wait a — whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait. We are forgetting a very important element here. Diane wasn’t working alone. And we happen to have an in with her coconspirator. So how are things developing with tucker?

Phyllis: Yeah, I mean, there’s got to be more to the story.

Nikki: Something too sordid for jack to forgive.

Ashley: Yeah, well, I did go straight to tucker when I found out, and I asked him to tell me everything about him and diane. I was hoping to maybe catch him off guard. You know, I didn’t have to find out the truth was out.

Nikki: And?

Ashley: Well, he said that he and diane were two of a kind, you know, two lost souls who were just trying to find a little forgiveness in a crazy, mixed-up world. It sounded a bit altruistic and straight from the heart.

Phyllis: Huh. I’m starting to wonder who’s working who.

Ashley: Okay, what do you mean?

Phyllis: Well, this is all on me now.

Nikki: Wait, what? Where are you going?

Phyllis: I am going to take care of this and make sure that bitch doesn’t wriggle off the hook.

Eric: We are good.

Thomas: Mckenzie turn for me.

Mckenzie: Wow. Thomas, you and hope have really outdone yourselves.

Thomas: I just hope the audience feels that way and doesn’t throw me on the chopping block. Uh, grandpa, what do you think?

Eric: What, this? It’s beautiful.

Ridge: Stop messing with it.

Thomas: Okay. All right. I’m leaving it alone. Can I help with anything?

Zende: Nah, don’t worry about it. I have it all under control.

Thomas: Okay.

Eric: You two have done some wonderful work here.

Ridge: I second that.

Zende: Wait until you see thomas’ show stopper.

Thomas: Yeah, I designed it specifically for hope, to bring out all the aspects of her that are so remarkable. I can’t wait to see her walk in it.

Carter: Very nice, very nice.

Steffy: Before it gets crazy here I just– I wanna thank you both for all the hard work you put in with the press and the buyers. There’s a lot of anticipation surrounding hope for the future, and it’s because of the way you pitched it.

Carter: Katie’s the right woman for the job. When she gets passionate about something it’s contagious.

Katie: Well, thank you. But it didn’t feel like work. I believe in hope and her line, and it just seems natural to support it.

Steffy: Well, I love that we’re all doing our best to come together. There’s a lot at stake today. Needs to be a win for hope.

Brooke: How many times are you gonna go over that speech?

Hope: Mom I just– I have a few more edits to make, but I just need everything to be flawless today because this is the biggest preview that hope for the future has ever had.

Brooke: I know. And it’s going to be a success. And you know how I know that? You excel at everything you do. I have complete confidence in you.

Liam: Same here.

Hope: Liam.

Liam: Big day. Huh? I am so proud of you and all you’ve accomplished. You got this.

Hope: You’re exactly what I need today. Right now.

[ Hope laughing ]

Justin: This is such an important day for hope and all of forrester. You know, the press can be savage.

Steffy: You’re telling me.

Justin: Yeah. You know, I still know some of these guys if you need me to put in a word. Maybe point out some of the dirt I still have on them.

Steffy: That’s tempting.

Justin: Uh-huh? But I think your esquire skills are better for business in the long run.

Justin: All right. Just thought I’d ask.

Steffy: Thank you.

Justin: All right. Hey.

Katie: Hey.

Steffy: Hey. Is everything covered on your end?

Katie: Yeah. I just wanna go over the seating chart with you, make sure you don’t wanna make any changes.

Steffy: I trust you as long as you know where everyone belongs.

Katie: All right.

Steffy: Okay.

Katie: Guess I’m good.

Carter: Yes, you are.

[ Katie chuckling ]

Charlie: Special delivery just for you.

Steffy: Hi.

Miranda: Hi. Good to see you.

Steffy: Good to see you.

Miranda: A lot of excitement around this preview.

Jackson: We haven’t heard from hope for the future for a while. I understand your brother thomas is hope’s lead designer?

Steffy: Uh, yes. And he’s done an incredible job.

Jackson: Personally, I thought hope for the future was fading into the sunset.

Steffy: Well, you are in for a huge surprise.

Miranda: I spoke with thomas recently. He seemed totally committed to hope and the line.

Steffy: I couldn’t agree more.

Thomas: Yeah, mom. No, I– I completely understand. Hey, you’re the keynote speaker. That’s incredible.

[ Thomas laughing ] Okay. You’re gonna kill it too. All right, talk to you soon. Okay. Bye.

Ridge: Hey.

Thomas: Okay. Just checking the makeup. Let me see this. Okay. Uh, what am I missing?

Eric: Nothing that I can see.

Zende: I think we’re all good here.

Ridge: You know, there’s a time in every show when you have to give things over to the fashion god. And I don’t mean your grandfather.

Thomas: No, I am– I am missing something. Wait, where’s hope?

Hope: I’m so happy to see you.

Liam: And I am so excited for you. I just, um, I just would– never mind. Doesn’t–

Brooke: I know what you’re thinking. It’s thomas.

Liam: Hm.

Brooke: Uh, honey, liam and I are extremely uncomfortable with the amount of time that you’re spending with him.

Hope: I know that.

Liam: You know already I– I– I don’t like what he’s done. I don’t trust him. And it just, at this point, it feels almost hypocritical to celebrate him.

Hope: Okay. Then you don’t have to. But you– you could be there to support me. And you will be there, right? (Vo) when you live with moderate to severe crohn’s disease

Katie: Well, I need to get back to the pre-show, but really thank you both so much for coming.

Sid: Happy to be here.

Del: Honestly, I was surprised we got the invite.

Katie: Are you kidding? Del and sid, two of the most esteemed fashion reporters in the country? Oh, please.

Del: I meant it. It kind of felt like hope for the future was a leftover fashion line.

Sid: What can we expect from today’s preview?

Katie: Today, hope for the future is retaking its place in the fashion world. But if there’s one thing that you can count on from forrester creations, is to expect the unexpected.

Sid: I’m looking forward to it.

Katie: Good. Thank you so much.

Both: Thank you.

Katie: Thank you.

Carter: You managed to get some of the most influential people in the business here. Nice job, katie.

Katie: Well, it wasn’t just me. Forrester name is like magic. You just have to know how to work it.

Carter: I think today’s gonna be a fantastic day for hope and hope for the future. I predict much celebrating to come.

Katie: Well, I just hope that you stick around for the celebration.

Carter: I wouldn’t miss it. In the meantime–

Katie: Oh, my god. Uh, what was that for?

Carter: Good luck.

Steffy: I just gave miranda and jackson a vip tour.

Katie: Oh, good. Good. Uh, gotta keep the buyers happy.

Steffy: Yeah. There’s a lot of effort gone into hope for the future. Now, it’s up to hope and thomas to pull it off.

Thomas: Okay. Can I have everybody’s attention? First, ladies, you are all incredible. You’re doing a fantastic job. I want you guys to give yourselves a hand.

[ Clapping ] And, uh, go out th and sell this line like you’ve never sold anything before. Okay? We need to blow their minds.

Eric: I don’t think they can miss.

Ridge: The designs are extraordinary, son.

Thomas: Well, that brings me to, uh, number two. Zende. Wow. Man, it has just been incredible to have you by my side and watch your talent just grow and grow and grow. It’s just a– it’s a sight to behold. Thanks, man.

Ridge: Well done, zende.

Eric: Nice.

Zende: Thank you.

Thomas: Let’s do this.

Zende: All right. Nice.

Thomas: And still no hope.

Charlie: Oh, uh, I just saw liam, uh, go in the office of the grand fromage. That’s big cheese en français. Um, I think she’s gonna get the ol’ pep talk, huh?

Thomas: Can’t believe liam decided to grace us with his presence.

Brooke: Well, you don’t need me here for this. So, break a leg, sweetheart.

Hope: Thank you, mom.

Liam: Bye, brooke. So, what do you say? I mean, you’ll be there, right?

Liam: You are such a visionary. And I truly believe that your line is about to become more successful than it ever has been.

Hope: Well, that’s what I want, obviously. But you never know.

Liam: I know. I know. And I’m so happy for all the success you’ve got coming your way. But yeah, you’re right. I– I absolutely had mixed feelings about coming here. I’m your husband. I love you. I wanna support you, not thomas.

Hope: So what are you saying?

Liam: You know– you know this. You– you know how I feel. You know that I don’t trust him. You know, that I– that I hate how much time he’s gotten you to spend with him. And the idea of applauding the two of you as a team, when I firmly believe that he’s abused his position, not only as head designer, but as douglas’ father to become a kind of surrogate husband to you.

Hope: Can we just not? Can we not argue about this right now? Just forget thomas. This is a really, really, really big day for me, and I just– please tell me that you’ll be there for me. I tried everything to remove fabric odors,

Liam: Okay. I mean, game it out for me. Walk me through it. How does this– how does today go?

Hope: What do you mean?

Liam: Well, after the models are finished walking the runway, what happens?

Hope: The usual. I– I go out on stage and I thank everyone.

Liam: Yeah. And then?

Hope: I call thomas out.

Liam: Right. And you two join hands and raise them in victory, right?

Hope: Yeah.

Liam: And everyone in the audience will applaud you and your brilliant lead designer as you two bask in the glow of success. And he’ll probably ask you to stay after, right? To celebrate just the two of you. And he’ll say things to you like, “this is our moment, hope. Yours and mine.” You know I’m right. I mean, do– do you understand what it is you’re asking me to enable?

Hope: I’m asking you to be there on the most critical day of my career.

Liam: And ignore thomas. Ignore him holding your hand. Ignore him gazing into your eyes and living out his fantasy. And I’m asking you, how am I supposed to do that knowing what he’s done to us?

Hope: Why are you making today all about thomas? You understand how important this day is to me. Why can’t you just be there to support me? You can go back to hating thomas tomorrow, but I need you in support of me today.

Douglas: Hey, mom. Aunt donna said you were in here.

Liam: Hey bud–

Hope: Hi.

Douglas: I’m so excited for you and dad.

Katie: Man, these moments before the show, the buzz in the air, the excitement. Feeling that anything can happen, good or bad. I love it. But it makes me nervous, especially today.

Brooke: Tell me about it.

Steffy: The good news, thomas and zende really brought it.

Carter: And the bad?

Steffy: You never know how the audience is gonna react. I love the direction my brother took hope for the future, but it’s not exactly what people have come to expect.

Carter: But isn’t that a good thing? Keep surprising them?

Steffy: Double edged sword. I guess we’ll find out.

Charlie: Almost showtime, boss lady. Good luck.

Steffy: Thanks, charlie.

Charlie: Sure.

Carter: Let’s get to it.

Steffy: All right.

Katie: How is hope?

Brooke: You think we’re nervous, you should see her. There’s a lot at stake for hope today.

Ridge: Hey.

Hope: Hi.

Ridge: Where were you? Everyone’s looking for you.

Hope: Um, I was just trying to talk liam into staying for the preview.

Eric: He’s not saying? Why not?

Hope: Uh, it’s a long story.

Thomas: Because of me. Look, hope, I know that you want liam to be here, but, um, right now we should just focus on the preview. Yeah?

Hope: Yeah, I agree with that 100%.

Eric: All right, let’s go.

[ Thomas laughing ]

Zende: Now or nt’doT. I’ll be right there. Hey. So this is it. This is what all the hard work’s been leading up to. And you seem nervous.

Hope: Uh. And you don’T.

Thomas: Not even a little. ‘Cause I know exactly what’s gonna happen. It’s going to be the most impeccable preview you’ve ever seen. And then in a few minutes, we will experience one of the greatest, most triumphant moments of our lives.

Hope: You seem pretty sure about that.

Thomas: I am. You’ll see.

Hope: All right. Uh, attention, please. Everyone, if I could have your attention, gather around. I just have one final message for everyone, which is to say thank you. Thank you for being a part of hope for the future. You were all amazing and dedicated and committed to this line. I– you never complained about the very long hours and you tolerated the crazy with a lot of good humor, and I appreciate that. But most importantly, the fact that you believe in this line and our message, it means the absolute world to me. So, thank you. I thank each and every one of you for being a part of this. So now, there’s just one thing left to do, which is to go out on that stage and absolutely crush it. So, go have fun everyone.

Thomas: Woo!

[ Clapping ]

Hope: Hello. Welcome. And thank you for coming. I am very excited to unveil hope for the future’s newest collection. We grow with the times, but what hasn’t changed are the guiding principles that have and always will define this line. Finding one’s strength, courage, empathy, and selflessness. Everyone here on my team, we believe in these core values of hope for the future. And we boldly believe that there is hope for the future. Enjoy the show.

Thomas: Hey, you should be getting dressed, ms. Show stopper.

Hope: No. I– I know. I just, um… I wanted to tell you something.

Thomas: Well, I’m all ears.

Hope: I believe in this line. I believe in its message. I believe in the team of people who help take this from a sketch on a pad of paper and– and help bring it to life. So, I guess what I’m trying to say is, um, I’m really grateful for you because I know I couldn’t have done this without you.

Thomas: It’s not me, it’s us. We can do anything together.

Hope: I agree. But thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thomas: Bring it in.

In California, after Jeff tells Elizabeth that she pushed Reiko down the stairs in a fit of anger, Elizabeth refuses to believe him or anything her parents have to say. Jeff explains she saw him with Reiko in his room, Reiko ran out, and Elizabeth followed her to the top of the stairs. Elizabeth has a flashback and can hear herself arguing with Reiko, and Carolyn realizes it’s all coming back to her.

Elizabeth recalls fighting with Reiko and asking how dare she do this to her mother, and calling her a homewrecker and that she’s not the first and she won’t be the last. Elizabeth threatened Reiko that she was going to tell her mother, and then find her husband and tell him. Elizabeth recalls Reiko grabbing her and telling her she couldn’t do that. As they fought, Reiko tumbled down the stairs. Elizabeth cries to her parents, “I did it, it was me.”

Elizabeth doesn’t remember if she pushed Reiko or if it was an accident, and Jeff admits he didn’t see what happened. Jeff explains Reiko had a concussion and internal bleeding from the fall. Reiko required a blood transfusion after the fall, and that’s how she contracted the disease that killed her. Carolyn goes on to explain Elizabeth was a minor, and they had to protect her from the legal system in the Mariana Islands, so they put in for an immediate transfer.

Elizabeth realizes Reiko died because of her. Carolyn notes that this is not entirely true. Elizabeth doesn’t understand why she blocked all of this out. Carolyn explains she didn’t at first, and she had terrible nightmares and sleepwalking episodes. Carolyn began coaching her to suppress the memory, and they sent her away so their presence wouldn’t cause the memory to return. Carolyn and Jeff never wanted to abandon her, but they thought it was better to lose their relationship with her than lose her forever. Elizabeth thinks they sent her away because they wanted to protect their reputations.

At the park, as Carly is about to tell Sam about her newfound relationship with Drew, he appears and suggests he be the one to tell Sam. He says they realized down in Florida that they made a good team, and came back with a renewed sense of purpose. Spinelli appears, and Drew asks to run something by Carly in private. They head off, and Sam says she is waiting for someone to tell her something that she already knows.

In private, Drew tells Carly that she cannot tell Sam or anyone about them. He explains Ned’s threat that they could be guilty of insider trading. Carly laughs it off and says that the whole thing is absurd. But, Drew says that he had a legal consultant look it over and that they both could both be looking at fines and jail time if the truth got out. He says for now they have to create some distance between them and let this blow over. Drew explains they can’t be in a public relationship. Carly understands and says that she is fine with going off grid to maintain their relationship.

Meanwhile, Sam asks Spinelli to help in finding out what Cody is hiding, and suggests using his algorithm. Spinelli reminds her that she wanted him to destroy it because it could get him sent to jail. She figures they could use it for good and explain Cody’s interest in the necklace that he and Britt found and why he didn’t want Sam looking into its origins.

Carly and Drew return and say goodbye to Sam and Spinelli before taking off. Sam continues talking to Spinelli about Cody, and feels they need to learn all they can about him. She points out he could be Maxie and Georgie’s family, and she doesn’t want to see Dante hurt either. Spinelli agrees and tells Sam he is at her service.

At Carly’s place, Joss and Trina compare their weekends. Joss confesses she and Cam finally slept together again. She had hoped that it would fix what is wrong in their relationship but she tells Trina that it didn’t. Joss blames Esme for not being able to enjoy her first time. Trina tells Josslyn she can not let Esme ruin her relationship forever. Trina tells Joss to stop trying to get back to where she and Cam were, but instead focus on their future. Joss thanks her for the advice.

Trina opens up to Joss about her stay with Rory at their hotel and tells Joss that just as things got intense, she imagined she was with Spencer. Joss says it’s clear she still has feelings for him. Joss admits to Trina that she and Cam visited Spencer and she tells Trina he wanted to know how she was doing and if she was happy. Trina realizes that is the reason behind the missed call she got from him. Joss says she believes Spencer has a good heart, but that doesn’t mean he deserves her. Trina feels she should put her focus on the good guy she has in front of her, just like Joss is doing with Cam.

At Charlie’s, Cody walks in as Britt is telling Scott and Obrecht about Peter’s necklace. Cody sits down, and Scott tells him he knows trouble when he sees it. Cody apologizes for sucker-punching him, and all he’d like is a do-over. Scott asks why? Cody explains he’s important to Britt’s mom, and Britt is important to him. He also knows how much he loved his biological mother, and he’s sorry they both lost her. Scott says that was a very long time ago.

Britt and Obrecht rejoin Cody and Scott, who are talking about Serina’s concern for Lucy. Obrecht asks if Cody plans on staying in Port Charles. Cody assures her that he is going to stick around as he likes Port Charles, and his job. Scott knows he has a reason given the DNA test he took, and he knows all about the fact that Cody may be Mac’s son. As they talk, Britt coughs after taking a sip of wine. When she continues to have coughing spells, Obrecht looks concerned.

At The Invader, Alexis picks up the phone and has her assistant call for Commissioner Ashford. She says, “tell the commissioner I just received a letter from The Hook killer.”

Dante and Jordan arrive and take the letter into custody. In it, the killer explains they are not hungry for fame or targeting people at random. They are targeting those who have wronged them. The killer tells Alexis to leave them be or she would regret it and ends by saying they are off to see the wizard. Alexis assumes that is a reference to Oz Haggerty. Dante and Jordan leave and Jordan tells Alexis to not tell anyone about the letter.

Jordan and Dante are barely out the door as Alexis calls Gregory and spills everything to him. She also takes out a copy of the letter that she made before the police arrived.

Later, Jordan arrives at Carly’s house and when Josslyn asks her if she is there to see her mother, Jordan informs her that her business concerns both her and Trina. Moments later, Carly and Drew say their goodbyes with a kiss and Carly enters the mansion. She approaches Jordan, Josslyn and Trina and asks what is going on. It is then that Jordan informs Carly that Brando was not the intended target of the Hook Killer. Josslyn was the true target. Jordan then confirms Trina’s worst fear, she is the common thread that ties all of the victims together.

Sam asks Spinnelli to use his illegal algorithm to investigate Cody. Spinnelli agrees that it is worth the risk to protect Maxie and her family, so he agrees to help Sam investigate Cody.

Drew and Carly decide to keep their romantic relationship a secret until they find out if Ned intends to go to the police and accuse them of insider trading.

Alexis gets a letter from the hook attacker post marked two weeks ago. The letter says that the attacks are not random and that she attacks people who have wronged her but if Alexis doesn’t stop writing articles she will be the next victim. Alexis gives the letter to Jordan and promises not to publish a story about the letter. Alexis calls Gregory and when he arrives at the Invader office she shows him the copy of the letter she made before she gave the original letter to the police.

Elizabeth doesn’t believe her father when he tells her that she pushed Reiko down the stairs. Elizabeth’s memory comes rushing back and she remembers telling Reiko that she was going to tell her mother and Reiko’s husband about the affair. Reiko grabbed her arm to stop her and when Elizabeth pulled her arm loose, Reiko fell down the stairs. Jeff explains that Reiko had a concussion and internal bleeding so, she needed a blood transfusion. Jeff also tells Elizabeth that the blood transfusion was what gave Reiko the black woods disease of which she eventually died. Jeff and Carolyn explain they sent her away so she could forget the accident because she was sleep walking and having nightmares. Jeff and Carolyn were afraid she would harm herself or others. Elizabeth thinks her parents sent her away to protect their own reputation.

Jordan goes over to Carly’s house and tells Carly, Josslyn, and Trina that the police believe that the hook attacker is targeting people who are close to Trina or people who helped her during the trial.

Adam calls Billy three times because he wants to find out if Chelsea is okay.

Adam goes to the Newman Media office looking for Chloe, but Sally tells Adam Chloe is on vacation. Sally also tells Adam that she and Chloe have been fired. Adam tells Sally he is sorry Victoria fired her because she used to be romantically involved with him.

Nick tells Victor and Victoria would fire Sally just because she used to be involved with Adam. Victor and Victoria both want Nate as CEO of Newman Media because he will be more loyal to the company then Sally. Sally later tells Nick that she has something she needs to tell him and he isn’t going to like it.

Jack tells Kyle and Summer everything Diane told him and makes it clear that he thinks Diane was a victim of Jeremy Stark and Tucker. Jack also tells Kyle and Summer that he didn’t tell Ashley about Jeremy Stark and the money laundering. Jack also tells Kyle and Summer that Ashley, Phyllis, and Nikki have been digging for information about Diane. Ashley tells Nikki and Phyllis everything Jack told her and that she thinks Jack will forgive Diane because he thinks she is Tucker’s victim. The ladies decide they must find something to get Diane and Tucker to leave town. Tucker forgives Diane for telling Jack their secret and Diane wonders why Tucker wanted her to give him Jabot’s financial information. Tucker refuses to tell Diane about the financial information since they no longer work together.

Phyllis goes over to the Abbott to talk to Kyle and Summer and tells them “I told you so,” and wonders what are they going to do about the Diane problem.

Outside at the Metro Court sponsored pumpkin farm, Carly tells Sam that since she returned from Jacksonville, she feels more leveled and centered than she did before she left. No sooner than she gets these words out of her mouth, she sees Sonny and Nina with Avery and Donna and totally zones out. She immediately approaches Sonny. Sonny and Nina both tell the girls to look that their Mom is home. The kids rush to hug her and it becomes really awkward when Carly mentions they should have a sleepover soon and the girls ask if Aunt Nina can come. Carly frowns and asks Sonny if they can have a word in private. Sam takes the kids away to give Carly time with Sonny.

Carly takes Sonny aside and lets him have it for having sleepovers with “Aunt Nina,” she also brings up the fact that she specifically asked Sonny not to have Nina over when Donna was present. Sonny explains it wasn’t anything like that. They simply had a pizza party and watches movies. Carly quickly realizes that she overstepped and apologizes to Sonny. She thanks him for respecting her boundaries and Sonny says that he has respected her boundaries but that they’re not working for him anymore.

Carly looks like she’s prepared for a fight.

Sam leaves the kids with Danny and Rocco. She explains she’s there to support Carly.

Meanwhile, Sonny explains that Nina wasn’t a part of his life but she is now, and it’s official. “Congratulations,” Carly says.

Sonny says he didn’t agree to put his life on hold indefinitely. Sonny says if Carly was seeing someone, he wouldn’t ask her to keep Donna from them. “Who says that I’m not?” She all but admits to seeing someone and Sonny agrees to be careful when he explains things to their kids. When Sonny and Carly rejoin the kids, Nina attempts to say something to Carly but Carly is not having it. She tells Nina to let Sonny speak for issues involving their children. She makes it clear that she has nothing to say to Nina in any other capacity.

They all disperse before things get too heated and Sam takes Carly aside to ask what happened in Jacksonville. Carly reminisces about Drew.

Elizabeth confronts her parents about Reiko’s death and the images she has been having. At first, her parents act aloof, but after she confesses to having images, losing time and even attacking Chase, her parents come clean. Yes, Elizabeth’s father was having an affair with Reiko but it was not Elizabeth’s father that pushed her down the stairs. Elizabeth’s father tells her there is much more to that and then admits it was Elizabeth that pushed Reiko down the stairs.

Drew and Scout visit Alexis in her office at The Invader, with Scout dressed as a butterfly for Halloween. Drew and Alexis think she looks great. She dances around with her wings floating and takes some candy from Alexis.

Drew tells Alexis that he knows she is no longer a practicing attorney but he has a hypothetical situation for her. He presents his situation with Carly and the ELQ/Aurora merger and asks if that would constitute insider trading.

“Hell Yes!” Alexis responds. She tells him that it is textbook insider trading and that both parties could serve prison time. She goes on to tell him that it would be much harder for charges to stick if he and the “friend” that he mentioned were just casual acquaintances rather than having a family or romantic involvement. Drew looks horrified.

Back at the pumpkin farm, Sonny says hello to Holly and introduces her to Nina. Holly makes an excuse and leaves the three of them quickly. Later, she is seen giving information to an unknown caller about Robert’s efforts to get another judge to intervene on Anna’s behalf. Sonny asks Robert if he would like to work together to help Anna. Robert says what did you have in mind? He asks Sonny if this has something to do with Anna breaking out of jail and living on the run? Robert tells Sonny not to worry that he has everything under control.

Sam asks Carly if Drew was with her in Jacksonville. Carly says that he was and that he was very helpful in securing a place to move her mother’s remains. Sam says she finds it awkward that they were there for weeks and yet Carly has barely mentioned him. Carly does her best to avoid the details of the situation, knowing that it could be painful for Sam. But, then Carly says, “there is something that you should know.” Drew is approaching Carly when he hears her say this.

In Switzerland, Valentin is being tailed by Victor’s men wherever he goes and he can not shake them. He is shocked and glad to see Laura when she knocks one of Victor’s men out cold with a candlestick. She tells him Anna sent her. They talk about Lucy’s shooting and how Victor has set Anna up to take the fall for the crime. They’re interrupted by another one of Victor’s men. He says hello to the “sister,” and knows Valentin is Charlotte’s daughter but asks for the nun’s name. Laura lies that it’s Sister Margaret. Victor’s goon hears one of his associates at the front of the church on the floor, moaning. Sister Margaret tells him it is a man who got drunk on the communion wine. The man tells Laura that his co-worker only drinks Vodka as he raises his gun. This time, Valentin wields the candlestick and the man is left unconscious on the floor. “Father Kevin” shows up and hugs Laura. The three of them agree they need to get Charlotte.

Johnny and Wendy get close, then Johnny decides they should get her to work at DiMera Enterprises if they are going to find out if Li and EJ brainwashed Stefan. Johnny feels they deserve to be punished. Wendy points out that they don’t know what they did. Johnny reminds her that’s what they are trying to figure out. Johnny asks her what’s bothering her. Wendy brings up that she started all this to get leverage over Li to force him to give her a job, but now she has the job. Johnny asks if she wants to back out but Wendy says no as she still wants to know what Li is capable of. Johnny points out that he doesn’t need to find out about EJ because he already knows what he’s capable of, but he needs to prove what he did to Stefan so that he can bring him down. Wendy says that’s where they differ since Johnny hates EJ for what he did, but she still loves her brother Li as they are still family.

Li is at DiMera Enterprises, on the phone with his father, talking about giving Wendy a promotion. Li understands any mistakes Wendy makes is on him. Li thanks him for his input and hangs up as Kristen arrives. Kristen says she heard the end of his conversation and says if he’s handing out promotions, maybe he wouldn’t mind giving one to Chloe.

Chloe is at Basic Black, on the phone with her mom and says she understands why Brady felt he had to break up with her but she’ll never understand him moving Kristen in to John and Marlena’s house. Chloe remarks that Brady lets that bitch walk all over him, right as Brady arrives at the office.

Rafe and Gabi have coffee in the town square. Gabi tells him about Stefan trick or treating with Chloe in the town square which Rafe notes must have been awkward. Gabi adds that Stefan reminded her again that he wants nothing to do with her and says that’s fine because as far as she’s concerned, she’s with Li and they are very happy and going to get married. Rafe jokes about that being great like marriages solve everything. Gabi asks if he’s having problems with Nicole. Rafe wishes Nicole was as determined to stay away from Eric as Gabi is to move on from Stefan.

Eric and Jada have coffee in bed together. Eric suggests they call in sick but Jada says she can’t since Shawn is away and she and Rafe are working on a big investigation. Jada adds that it’s only Eric’s second day back at Basic Black so he can’t let Nicole regret bringing him back. Nicole then arrives at the door and is greeted by Jada while Eric goes to put some clothes on. Nicole says she needs to speak to Eric as something has come up. Eric comes out in his robe and questions why Nicole didn’t call. Nicole responds that she tried three times but he didn’t pick up. Eric notes that he had his phone on silent and asks what’s wrong. Nicole says she doesn’t know but they have been summoned by the editorial team at Bella as apparently there’s a problem, but she doesn’t know what it is and they want them at Titan ASAP. Eric goes back to get dressed. Nicole tells Jada that she’s sorry to interrupt but Jada says she’s not.

Gabi questions Rafe about he and Nicole still fighting about Eric since she thought they worked things out. Rafe says they did and he told her that she should work with Eric so now he has to put his money where his mouth is. Gabi encourages that the fight could’ve been a good thing. Gabi then points out Wendy and Johnny walking by and comments that she didn’t even know they knew each other.

Johnny asks Wendy if she’s sure she’s okay with spying on EJ and Li while trying to make a good impression at DiMera. Johnny clarifies that he doesn’t want her to do anything she doesn’t want to do. Wendy assures that she wants to do this. Johnny advises her to be careful since EJ is always suspicious and he doesn’t want anyone finding out what they are up to. Gabi approaches and greets Wendy as she questions what they are up to.

Li tells Kristen that Chloe is doing a great job at Basic Black but he doesn’t see why he should give her a promotion. Kristen points out that the promotion would get her out of Basic Black and she wants Chloe here at DiMera, as far away from Brady as possible.

Chloe tells her mom that she will call her back and hangs up. Chloe asks Brady how much of that he heard. Brady says enough to know that she doesn’t think that highly of him but asks why she would. Chloe says she thinks highly of him as her boss and shouldn’t have been making personal calls at the office, so she’s sorry. Chloe says she has so much to do and mentions that the Bella issue is almost ready to hit the internet so she has to get exclusive previews to fashion influencers. Brady tells Chloe that this is not how he wanted this to happen. Chloe says he told her the reasons before and she doesn’t need to hear them at work. Brady repeats that it’s not what he wanted. Chloe declares that it’s what Kristen wanted and what Kristen wants, she gets. Chloe brings up how Brady was like a puppet on a string in the town square. Brady brings up Chloe being with Stefan and says he keeps thinking about what Stefan did to Abigail and points out that Chloe is vulnerable. Chloe cuts him off and questions where he gets off saying this to her.

Li apologizes to Kristen but says he can’t help her as he doesn’t have a single position available. Kristen asks if Wendy just happened to get the last opening in the entire organization. Li says she is a brilliant IT expert and they need that, not a fashion consultant. Li then questions why Kristen is asking him to promote her instead of just doing it herself. Kristen informs him that EJ fired her because she backed Gabi over him. Li tells her that she’s out of luck then. Kristen brings up that Stefano told her never to rely on luck when threats work so much better. Kristen warns Li to give Chloe that promotion or else she’s going to tell Gabi that he brainwashed Stefan in to loathing her.

Johnny tells Gabi that he and Wendy aren’t up to anything. Gabi questions how Johnny even knows Wendy since she just got here. Wendy tells Gabi that she can ask her about her personal life. Gabi guesses it’s just a coincidence that they know each other. Rafe comes over and greets Johnny. Johnny introduces Rafe to Wendy and calls Rafe his favorite ex-stepdad. Rafe points out that it looks like he and Wendy will be related soon. Johnny points out that Rafe is the police commissioner so that could come in handy. Gabi questions again how Johnny and Wendy know each other. Johnny says that his cousin Joey met her in Seattle. Gabi recalls Wendy taking Joey and Tripp as her two dates in Hong Kong. Johnny questions that but Wendy says it’s a long story. Johnny adds that when Joey told him that Wendy was coming to town, he offered to show her around. Wendy points out that Johnny even got her a place to stay which Gabi says is so nice of him. Johnny says he was just glad to help. Rafe says he has to get going down to the police station and says it was good to see them. Rafe welcomes Wendy to Salem and walks away. Wendy adds that she should get going too so she’s not late for her first day at work. Wendy thanks Gabi again for pushing Li to get her the job as she then walks away. Johnny tells Gabi that it was good to see her but Gabi stops him and says she’s not done with him.

Nicole and Eric go to see Alex at the Titan office. Alex thanks them for coming on short notice. Nicole remarks that his e-mail made it sound like they had no choice. Eric questions if he was unhappy with the photos. Nicole explains that something came up with the model, so she had to stand in. Alex thinks there’s been a miscommunication here because he loves the photos and thinks they are exactly what Bella needs, so much that he wants to put Nicole on the cover.

Jada joins Rafe in the interrogation room at the police station. Rafe talks about preparing for his interrogations. Jada notes that he doesn’t look a bit nervous. Rafe asks why he would be. Jada points out that he’s going to be questioning one of the kingpins of the drug business and he’ll have two of the highest paid lawyers that drug money can buy. Jada gives him a summary file in a folder and then yawns, so Rafe questions if she didn’t get her coffee this morning. Jada informs him that Eric brought her a cup but she didn’t get to drink it because Nicole dropped by.

Nicole questions Alex wanting her to be on the cover of Bella. Alex says he was blown away by the photos that Eric took of her and calls it a game changer. Alex mentions Nicole being one of the biggest models but Nicole says that was years ago. Alex says not if this is any indication as he shows them his tablet. Nicole blows it off as great lighting, luck, and an amazing photographer. Eric states that Nicole is being modest. Alex remarks that it’s like she’s making love to the camera which she laughs off. Alex says he can feel the tension in the photos and it’s electric. Alex comments that whatever they have, they bring out something special in each other.

Chloe tells Brady that he has nothing to say about her personal life. Brady says he’s just worried. Chloe asks if he’s worried that losing him as rendered her incompetent to live her own life. Chloe tells Brady to think twice about warning her about Stefan when he just moved a kidnapping, murdering sociopath in to his home. Brady knows it seems that way. Chloe asks if he’s finally going to tell her what the hell is going on.

Li tells Kristen not to get all moral with him since she was part of brainwashing Stefan from the beginning. Kristen argues that it was against her better judgment and that Li preyed on her devotion to Brady. Kristen says she did it to protect her family while Li did it to get power and control of her family’s company. Li says the fact remains that they both wanted Stefan to be with Chloe. Kristen laughs off that he still does while now that she has Brady back in her life, Chloe is no longer a threat to her. Li asks how she thinks Brady will take it when he finds out what she did. Kristen responds that Brady knows she’d do anything to keep her family in tact so it wouldn’t change anything between them, but that’s not true for him and Gabi. Kristen asks how Li thinks Gabi will take it that he used her husband as a lab animal and made him hate her in the process.

Johnny asks Gabi if there’s a problem. Gabi is not buying what Johnny and Wendy are selling, so she questions what they are really up to.

Li goes over Kristen managing to break up Brady and Chloe while now they are living together with their daughter and she wants him to move Chloe out of Basic Black in to DiMera. Li says she doesn’t sound like she believes that Chloe is no longer a threat, since she’s pretty desperate to get her away from Brady. Li questions if Kristen’s hold over Brady is not quite as strong as she hoped it would be. Kristen argues that it takes time to rebuild a relationship and they are just getting started, so she doesn’t want him to get distracted at work. Li feels the need to remind her that DiMera Enterprises is a business, not couples therapy. Kristen laughs at that and calls him a hypocrite. Kristen asks how he would feel if Gabi just found herself working side by side with Stefan. Kristen declares that if Li doesn’t want to help her, she’ll go straight to Dr. Rolf and order him to undo Stefan’s programming. Wendy arrives but stops at the door and listens in as Li tells Kristen that won’t be possible because he made sure that Dr. Rolf is long gone.

Chloe tells Brady that she’s waiting for him to say what he has to say. Brady tells Chloe to understand if there was any other way but they are interrupted as Alex arrives with Eric and Nicole. Alex says he’s glad they are both here. Brady questions what he’s doing there. Alex announces that he’s here to put their rag tag business and his magazine back on the map.

Johnny tells Gabi that Wendy is new in town so he’s just showing her around. Gabi argues that it must be a highly personal tour and remarks that she saw them and it didn’t look like they were talking about dry cleaning. Johnny then admits that Gabi got him and there’s more to it.

Kristen questions what Li has done with Dr. Rolf. Li tells her that’s none of her concern. Kristen pushes him and disagrees. Li tells her that a member of her family has been apprised as to why he had to get Dr. Rolf out of the country so soon and that’s EJ. Kristen guesses Li and EJ are in cahoots now. Wendy decides she needs to record this and reaches in to her purse to grab her phone, but she drops her phone. Kristen hears it and questions what that was. As Wendy gets down to pick up her phone, Li and Kristen come out from the room. Li questions what Wendy is doing.

Jada hopes she didn’t come across petty by telling him that Nicole came by this morning since it was business and something about the shots that Eric took of Nicole for the Bella magazine. Rafe comments that Nicole gave up modeling years ago. Jada explains that the model they hired didn’t show up so Nicole filled in. Jada adds that Eric said the shots were great, so maybe Nicole is heading back to the runway.

Brady questions what Alex is talking about. Alex responds that they have an incredible opportunity to launch Bella Magazine in to the next generation while also creating buzz for Basic Black’s next collection. Brady says it sounds good and asks how to do that. Eric says by putting Nicole on the cover of Bella in Basic Black contour. Chloe calls it a great idea while Nicole says not to encourage him. Brady asks if Alex has talked to Victor about this because he kind of hates Nicole. Nicole says she asked Alex the same question. Alex reminds them that he’s in charge of Titan, not Victor, at least until Sonny recovers. Alex declares that if he wants to put Nicole on the cover, there’s not a damn thing Victor can say about it.

Gabi says she knew it and asks what’s going on between Johnny and Wendy. Johnny claims that he’s just hitting on her in a charming and subtle way. Gabi is unsure since they seemed intense and remarks that Wendy is not his type. Johnny argues that she’s smart and gorgeous which seems like his type. Gabi acknowledges that he went from Chanel to her to Ava, so she guesses he doesn’t really have a type. Johnny responds that he likes what he likes. Gabi questions him pursuing Li’s sister now. Johnny says he’s exploring possibilities. Gabi responds that she just doesn’t want to see either of them get hurt. Johnny says he doesn’t want to see Gabi get hurt either. Gabi questions what that’s supposed to mean and how she could get hurt.

Wendy tells Li and Kristen that she was trying to take a selfie on her first day of work and dropped her phone. Li introduces Wendy to Kristen. Kristen welcomes her to DiMera Enterprises. Wendy says she looks forward to working for her but Kristen clarifies that it won’t be for her because EJ canned her. Wendy says she’s sorry to hear that. Kristen tells her that she still has her shares and remarks that Wendy’s brother is more loyal than her brother. Kristen adds that what she admires most about Li is that he’s always mindful of where he’s loyal.

Alex talks about how magazines have been struggling to remain relevant for years so they have to break the internet, which is why resurrecting one of Bella’s biggest models from it’s heyday could do just that. Nicole comments that she wasn’t dead, she just stopped modeling. Alex says that was a mistake and the latest photoshoot proves it. Alex adds that he doesn’t know what is going on but Eric’s photos bring out the best in her and he wants the rest of the world to see it. Eric decides if they are going to do another photoshoot, he needs to start setting up. Chloe goes to get makeup, hair, and wardrobe. Alex compliments Brady’s suit, which Brady explains is part of Basic Black’s upcoming line and that the designer suggested he wear it around the office to get feedback. Alex calls it killer and decides they are going to use it in the shoot with Brady. Alex compares it to Vogue having couples on the cover. Brady responds that he’s not a model. Alex says he is if he wants his collection on the cover. Nicole suggests letting Eric take a couple of test shots and agrees that this could give Basic Black a boost. Brady then gives in and agrees to do it.

Wendy decides to get to her office and start settling in. Wendy tells Kristen again that it was nice to meet her. Kristen wishes her luck with her new job as Wendy exits. Kristen asks Li where they were. Li tells Kristen that he’s not telling her where Dr. Rolf is. Kristen threatens to go tell Gabi and Stefan everything she knows, noting that they are already suspicious and so is Chloe. Kristen brings up that Marlena has reversed Dr. Rolf’s programming on more than one occasion, so she’s sure that she’ll be happy to help Stefan recover his passion for Gabi and then the two of them will run DiMera instead of him.

Gabi and Johnny sit together in the town square as she questions Johnny not wanting to see her get hurt. Johnny says he just feels kind of responsible for everything that happened with her and Jake. Gabi blames the Devil. Gabi adds that she did care for Jake, but they were never right for each other. Johnny points out that she and Stefan were though. Gabi says they thought so but he changed his mind. Johnny asks if that doesn’t seem weird to her to have such a drastic change. Gabi agrees that it was so weird that she thought Dr. Rolf did something to him but he didn’t. Johnny informs her that he thought the same thing. Gabi says she was so sure so she confronted Dr. Rolf, but he told her that he did nothing to Stefan other than bring him back from the dead. Johnny questions her just taking Dr. Rolf’s word for it. Gabi admits she’s never done that before but for some reason, she felt he was telling her the truth. Gabi declares that it doesn’t matter because if Stefan wants to be with Chloe, he can have her since she is with Li and they are in love and going to be married. Gabi adds that now nothing is going to stand in the way of her happiness.

Li tells Kristen that he will offer Chloe the promotion and asks if she’s happy now. Kristen responds that she’s over the moon and he will be too. Kristen declares that it won’t be long before Chloe is out of Brady’s life and once she is with Stefan, Li and Gabi can live happily ever after. Gabi calls Li and tells him that it’s almost time to audition the wedding cakes at the Bakery, so she wanted to make sure he was on his way. Li responds that he’s sorry but a personal matter came up at work that he has to take care of but he’ll be there as soon as he can. Gabi tells him to keep her posted as they hang up. Kristen then orders Li to go to Basic Black and offer Chloe her dream job. Kristen and Li then exit the room. After they walk away, Wendy sneaks back up to the door and calls Johnny. Johnny asks if she found anything out. Wendy responds that she sure did and she thinks they were right.

Jada apologizes to Rafe as she can tell that it’s bothering him that Nicole is modeling again for Eric. Jada admits she’s not thrilled about it either since Eric told her that’s how they got together all those years ago. Rafe says it’s not so much that she’s modeling, but that she didn’t tell him about it. Rafe wonders if she thought he would act like a jerk since he did when she told him that she hired Eric. Jada says that married people fight. Rafe says he learned that he has to trust Nicole. Jada adds that she has to trust Eric. Rafe calls it great that they figured this all out, so they can get back to work now.

Eric takes photos of Brady and Nicole for Bella Magazine. Alex gives instruction and reminds them that he’s in charge. Brady gets irritated by having to model and steps out of the room. Alex questions where he’s going as Chloe goes out after him. Brady tells Chloe that he’s going to get out of here. Chloe says that’s fine but questions what he was trying to tell her before Alex barged in.

Eric and Nicole exchange looks from across the office. Alex looks at them both and declares that’s it. Alex decides that Eric is the one that needs to be in the suit and model with Nicole.
