Diane: Hi. Uh, there’s cinnamon rolls in the kitchen, if you’re tempted.

Billy: Uh, I am fine. Thank you. They’re literally buttering us up with buttery pastries. This is not gonna be good.

Traci: No

.Diane: Nothing sinister. We just thought we’d save time if met face-to-face.

Adam: Yeah, and I want to fold it into my new enterprise: Adustus international.

Sharon: Hm. Interesting.

Adam: What is?

Sharon: Like you said, business and baking, totally different things. If you wanna make bread, for instance, you take your time. You wait and let your ingredients rest. You let them show you what they’re capable of. You care about every detail and you understand how every essential ingredient goes into making the final outcome. Wow, I just thought of that just now.

Adam: That is very fascinating. Well, thank you for the baking lesson.

Mariah: Hey. Have you been ignoring me?

Kyle: No, I didn’t think so.

Mariah: Well, I’ve sent a bunch of texts. I’ve left two voicemails.

Kyle: I– I swear, I haven’t been avoiding you. But if this is your attitude, maybe I should be. What’s the problem?

Mariah: You are.

Summer: Great news. Chelsea lawson is gonna take the creative director job after all. Yeah. I’m going to talk to her more about it tomorrow but I– I think that it was my hard sell that convinced her. I know. I’m– I’m really excited about it. All right, I will let you know details as I have them. All right. Bye.

[ Summer chuckling ]

[ Footsteps approaching ]

Abby: Hey, I heard the news that you and kyle separated. My mom told me that you moved out.

[ Summer sighing ]

Summer: Abby, can we just skip the part where you lecture me and tell me that it was all my fault?

Abby: Actually, I was just gonna offer you a hug.

Jack: Hiya, nik. You waiting for victor?

Nikki: Oh, no, I’m just enjoying a quiet evening on my own. Something about the atmosphere and the music here, I find it very soothing.

Jack: Yeah, I felt my stress level go down a notch or two when I came down those stairs.

Nikki: Well, would you like to join me or are you looking for some alone time?

Jack: Well, that was my original intention, but it’s nice to see a friendly face. Um, I’d love the company.

Nikki: Well, given everything that’s going on at jabot, I’m sure you need a break.

Jack: Yeah, I would welcome a time out.

Nikki: Yeah. I know how hard those kind of conflicts can be, forcing the family to take sides. How are you holding up? I hope there haven’t been too many casualties. Do you have the board behind you?

Jack: What, not you too?

Nikki: Not me what?

Jack: Is this a friendly conversation or is this a fact-finding mission? What exactly are you after?

Diane: Billy, you’re looking comfortable.

Billy: Yeah, that’s one of the perks of being the co-ceo, you can put your feet up on the furniture. You should work it into your contract if you haven’T.

Diane: Oh, my role comes with other benefits.

[ Both chuckling ]

Billy: Like a four-carat ring and a c-suite position. Uh, jack’s not here. I’m not sure where he took off to. Something tells me you knew that he wasn’t gonna be here.

Diane: Yes, it’s– it’s you I was looking for. Um, would you like to grab a drink? My treat.

Billy: Me and you?

Diane: Yes, there’s– there’s something important that I need to talk to you about.

Tucker: Hi.

Ashley: Well, hi handsome. What’s all this? Flowers and– oh, champagne? What’s the occasion?

Tucker: Pff, any night I get to spend with you is a special occasion.

Ashley: Oh. Surely, you can do better than that.

Tucker: [ Laughing ] Okay. Uh, well, for one, we’ve got our exciting new business venture together.

Ashley: Better.

Tucker: And two, my P.I. Is closing ranks on the emt, the carson guy. So, we should have phyllis back in town, and–

Ashley: Yes.

Tucker: The leverage to weaponize her against diane.

Ashley: Definitely something worth celebrating.

Tucker: And then, third…

[ Cork popping ] …And most importantly… we are in love. We are truly, madly, deeply in love.

Ashley: Is that so? (Vo) at the tidy cats innovation lab.

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Mariah: How could you not tell me you were leaving marchetti?

Kyle: Okay, I’m sorry I didn’t make you my first call when my life was being completely upended.

Mariah: Fine, but I– I could have been the second or even the tenth. But I had to find out from tessa, who only heard it because she’s the face of marchetti.

Kyle: I have had no say in how the news was handled, and in case you’re not up to speed, it wasn’t my idea to resign. My father thought it would be untenable if summer and i both worked there and he chose her to stay.

Mariah: Okay, slow down, and– and back up, that is a lot to process. First, I have a very hard time believing that jack kicked you out of the family company like that.

Kyle: Oh, no, he offered me another position, but at a lower level because billy has my old co-ceo job. I didn’t feel like being demoted when summer rises to the top. So, I declined. Thanks, but no thanks.

Mariah: Wow. That sucks. I– I had no idea.

Kyle: No. On top of all of that, I haven’t been getting much sleep. Harrison’s confused and out of sorts because summer moved out.

Mariah: Does that mean what I think it means?

Kyle: Summer and i are officially separated, mariah.

Mariah: I am very sorry, for your sake.

Kyle: You don’t have to pretend to be sorry.

Mariah: And you don’t have to pretend to put on a brave face. I know that that’s all for harrison. But this is me. You’re still in love with summer, okay? I know that this heartbreak is– is very, very real.

Kyle: Maybe it’s the wake up call I needed.

Nikki: What makes you think I’m after anything? Jack, after everything that you and i have been through, you actually think that I would side with ashley and tucker instead of you?

Jack: If it was only me, no. No, I admit you’d probably have my back.

Nikki: You know that I would.

Jack: But you can’t deny the fact that you hate diane and I wouldn’t put it past victor to try to take advantage of this latest upheaval at jabot. Maybe stage a hostile act of his own, join forces with ashley.

Nikki: Jack, this kind of paranoia is not like you. Now, victor has enough to deal with without going after jabot. And frankly, I am offended that you think that I would have ulterior motives in simply asking how you’re doing. I was concerned after reading the press release about ashley and tucker’s new company. This is big news in genoa city. So, pardon me if I care. I will have that drink by myself now!

Jack: I– I– I apologize. I had no right accusing you of digging for dirt. I apologize.

Nikki: I don’t appreciate being treated like a spy. I am not leanna love looking for a scoop.

Jack: Of– of course, you are not and you are right. I have been overly suspicious lately. Unsure where or when or from whom the next betrayal is coming.

Nikki: Of course you are. I mean, who wouldn’t? I’m sure it hurts that ashley is leaving jabot.

Jack: I learned of ashley’s defection the same way you did. I read about it in a press release.

Nikki: Oh, my god. That’s awful.

Jack: Yeah, being sideswiped by your own sister, pretty awful.

Nikki: Well, I’m sure this has something to do with diane. That ashley is trying to get back at you because of diane’s new promotion. Much less your engagement.

Jack: Yeah, that’s what I thought at first too. I’m starting to think it’s much deeper than that.

Tucker: You just can’t say it. You can’t bring yourself to say the l word, even though all your actions speak it loudly every day. Every way.

Ashley: According to you.

Tucker: And of course, part of this is the pleasure you derive from teasing me.

Ashley: Well, I know for a fact you love to be teased.

Tucker: Yeah, maybe, when I know where it’s going, but… now, I get the feeling that there’s something more serious at play.

Ashley: Like what?

Tucker: Another test of my limits. See how far you can push me before I give up and walk away. You’re so desperate for just a little proof that I’m the old tucker, aren’t you? That I’m– I’m gonna let you down again. I’m gonna hurt you again. When are you gonna accept the fact that that’s not gonna happen?

Billy: As thirsty as I am, there’s no way I can leave the office right now. With everything going on, there’s far too many fires to put out.

Diane: What I need to talk to you about is as important as anything else you need to deal with tonight. I promise.

Billy: Well, you have my interest piqued, so… how about I take a break and we can have a drink right here? Go ahead. Have a seat.

Diane: Oh, thank you.

Billy: So, what’s going on?

Diane: Well, first, I want to thank you for not taking ashley’s side in this latest family battle. It was– it was a welcome surprise that you didn’t agree that me being promoted would destroy jabot.

Billy: I’ve been in your shoes, diane. I’ve been the object of scorn. I have been the odds-on, favorite to fail miserably. I get it.

Diane: Mm, well, I intend to prove myself.

Billy: And I’m genuinely on your side. I’m pulling for you. I have not seen jack this happy in a very long time and I happen to believe that you’re not out to, uh, you know, get jabot.

Diane: [ Laughing ] Yes. I mean, why would I destroy my fiancé’s company? It doesn’t make any sense.

Billy: Tucker, on the other hand, I do not trust him at all.

Diane: Well then, why do you think that we should just let ashley and tucker burn out on their own?

Billy: You seemed to be on board with my approach earlier this morning when we were discussing it with jack.

Diane: Well, I don’t agree.

Billy: Well, that’s interesting. What changed?

Diane: I’m worried about jack’s role in this battle. I mean, I– I know tucker and I know he doesn’t like to fail, and I’m scared he will play as nasty as he needs to in order to win. And I just– I just don’t want to see jack have to stoop to that level.

Billy: So, you’re here to ask me if I would instead. Tv: Try tide power pods with 85% more tide in every pod.

Abby: Are you and kyle talking?

Summer: No. He says that I betrayed him and he doesn’t trust me anymore. And to be honest, I don’t blame him.

Abby: Unfortunately, I know what that feels like.

Summer: I made a mistake. If he would just give me another chance, you know?

Abby: I wish I had some useful advice, but I’ve realized that what happens in a marriage is between the two of you. I hope that you can come to a resolution that you’re both happy with. And in the meantime, I am a sympathetic ear.

[ Summer sighing ]

Summer: In that case, could we change the subject?

Abby: Yes, of course. Okay, um, well, what’s the topic?

Summer: Anything else.

Abby: Okay. Then, why don’t you tell me what’s going on at jabot these days?

Jack: Things are just untenable between ashley and me. It isn’t easy when your sister despises your fiancee.

Nikki: Well, jack, did you really expect her to welcome diane to the family with open arms?

Jack: I am not naive. I didn’t expect her to be thrilled that I was engaged to diane. Didn’t expect her to be thrilled that I would promote diane to a new position at jabot, but to leave our father’s company?

Nikki: Yeah, that’s a big statement. But she’s left before and come back.

Jack: Yeah, this just seems different. We’ve always had a contentious relationship.

Nikki: You’ve both been vicious with each other in the past, but you came back from it. I’m sure that you can overcome a rift about diane.

Jack: I don’t know. Somehow, this just seems more profound. The level of vitriol is crazy. It’s like the wound between us never healed. And something is driving this fury and it’s not just diane. This seems targeted at me.

Nikki: This is really hitting you hard.

Jack: I know, I just feel like tucker has tapped into a rage there and he’s exploiting it. That diane is just an excuse for ashley to come after me and the company.

Nikki: Well, I can’t pretend to understand what goes on in ashley’s mind, or tucker’s for that matter, but I do understand how complicated it is to work with family. Isn’t there something I can do to help?

[ Jack sighing ]

Ashley: Am I testing you? I don’t know, probably, on some subconscious level. So what? We’re doing great together, tucker. We’re– we’re a great couple. We’re making great strides. And we have an understanding that this is a transactional agreement.

Tucker: It’s more than that for me.

Ashley: But we both understand the rules of engagement.

Tucker: Rules change.

Ashley: Stop being such a baby. Come on, admit it. You’re having fun.

Tucker: Occasionally. When you’re not building a wall around your heart. I just don’t know why you choose to deprive yourself of so much joy.

Ashley: How do you know I am?

Tucker: Because I feel it when we’re together. I just– I just wish you would join me.

Ashley: What if I don’t want to? What if I like things the way they are? And what if this is as good as it’s gonna get?

Diane: You’re jack’s brother. Soon to be my brother-in-law. I hope you don’t think I’m setting you up to do anything unethical.

Billy: It’s fine, diane. You don’t have to worry about offending me.

Diane: Well, apparently, I do. I think you’re misunderstanding.

Billy: Hm, am I? I mean, we’re talking about protecting my family, my family’s legacy, correct? I’m very capable of playing dirty. Just like I know you are.

Diane: Well, I’m not suggesting that–

Billy: Ah, I thought this was a truth serum.

[ Diane laughing ] We both know damn well what you’re suggesting. You sought me out to have a conversation that jack doesn’t know about. Like I said, I’m very busy. So, if you’re gonna continue to play coy, I’m gonna skip the drink.

Diane: All right, fine. Cards on the table.

Billy: All of them. Salonpas lidocaine flex. With cirkul, your water is deliciously flavored at the turn of a dial, with zero sugar and zero calories. And cirkul has over 40 flavors, so your water can be as unique as you are. Try cirkul at drinkcirkul.Com

Jack: I just don’t see an easy fix to this situation. I don’t know how you can help.

Nikki: Well, it’s an open offer.

Jack: I appreciate that. Your friendship means the world to me.

Nikki: As does yours. Oh, there is something about being in this room. I always feel the spirit of friendship and love.

Jack: Yeah, I know what you mean.

Nikki: Our dear, dear neil. I miss him so much. That’s probably what drew me here tonight.

Jack: Yeah, I miss him too. Especially, at times like these. Why is it family is our greatest source of joy and our greatest source of pain?

Nikki: You and I both know the answer to that.

Jack: Yeah. Hey, you should feel very proud of what you’ve done to honor neil in creating this space. And for stepping into his shoes tonight.

Nikki: Oh, no, nobody could do that.

Jack: No, we honor him by reaching out to those we care about and you did that for me tonight and I’m very grateful and you did neil proud.

Nikki: Well, it was my pleasure.

Jack: And you somehow managed to do all of that without once chastising me for my relationship with diane.

Nikki: Ah, well, that took a lot of willpower and a little tongue-biting.

[ Jack laughing ]

Billy: Let’s start with what we do know. We are both more than willing to tarnish our pristine reputations in order to get what we want. Me… I want to protect my family. And my father’s legacy. But what’s in it for you? Your tenure here at jabot has been short. Why such a fierce allegiance?

Diane: My loyalty is to jack. And by extension, jabot. He’s– he’s risked everything to help me and it’s only fair that I do the same.

Billy: Yeah, I wouldn’t underestimate jack. He doesn’t need or want protecting. He’s very capable of getting his own hands dirty.

Diane: I’m– I’m well aware of that, but he crossed many lines, uh, helping me with jeremy stark and that’s why I’m concerned. I want to protect him and his reputation. I want to keep him free of the mud if it comes to that.

Billy: But I’m fair game.

[ Diane chuckling ] Again… I don’t offend easily.

Diane: Good. Because we have bigger things to worry about.

Billy: Yeah, I don’t know. I don’t think we need to resort to unscrupulous methods here. You know, I– I firmly believe that if we take a few precautions and we double down on this quarter, we’ll outperform what we need to do and whatever ashley and tucker are working on will fizzle out before their company even gets started.

Diane: Yeah, well, what if you’re wrong?

Billy: Well, if anyone makes a move to hurt jabot… for instance, if ashley and tucker pull their patents or they try to take down jabot in any sort of way, I will not only enjoy, but I promise to get down in the mud with tucker mccall and fight like hell. No one is going to mess with my father’s legacy. Not ashley and certainly not that piece of work, tucker mccall.

Tucker: So, this is the best I’m gonna get, huh?

Ashley: Maybe.

Tucker: A transactional relationship with a steel-hearted woman. Wow. What a storybook romance.

Ashley: Excuse me? I don’t have a steel heart. I have a guarded heart for good reason. And as much as I enjoy talking about our feelings, can we please put a pin in it? I have something urgent I need to discuss with you. So, please pour some champagne right now, please. I want to talk about the next stage of our plan which I’m ready to set in motion.

Tucker: All right. What’s next on the agenda?

Ashley: Okay. Here. Okay, that’s good, that’s good, that’s good. Okay. Ready?

Tucker: Yeah.

Ashley: Okay, here’s to… pulling the rug out from under jabot. One employee at a time.

Mariah: So, you’re telling me that you’re totally fine with everything that’s happened to you lately. Your mother-in-law frames your mom for murder, your wife betrays your trust, your dad fires you from the family company, but it’s no big deal. In fact, it’s a good thing.

Kyle: Obviously, it’s not the way I would have liked for things to play out. At least I see summer for who she is now.

Mariah: And I am a very loyal friend who will resist pointing out that I have been warning you about snowflake for years.

Kyle: Thanks for that.

Mariah: But you cannot convince me that you are happy about getting booted from marchetti.

Kyle: Okay, I’ve already landed another job. One that I wasn’t handed based off of my nepo baby position.

Mariah: Don’t you dare diminish everything you’ve done at jabot just because–

Kyle: Because what? It’s my birthright? All right, I’m not saying I didn’t do good things there.

Mariah: Yeah, you crushed it.

Kyle: Sure. Maybe. But that’s the thing. I’ve realized that there’s a voice in the back of my head asking me if I would have had the same opportunity if I wasn’t jack abbott’s son. Look, I know I’m good at what I do, but you have to admit the outside world can look at me and think I’ve been handed every opportunity.

Mariah: Who cares about the outside world?

Kyle: Well, maybe I do. And now, I have to prove myself based off of my own merits. It’s exciting for me.

Mariah: Okay. Where is this dream job?

Kyle: A– at newman media as C.O.O. Working with audra charles.

Mariah: Noah’s ex?

Kyle: She’s smart and driven and not afraid to take big swings. She has a real passion and energy.

Mariah: You got all of that from one job interview?

Kyle: Okay, you can put a lid on that judgment.

Mariah: I’m sorry, but I– I’m your friend. I have to tell you the truth and I am just not buying all of this. The family company meant everything to you. You have “jabot 1” as your license plate. So, I think you just need to slow down and take a breath before you take this job at newman media. I mean, you cannot convince me that that’s what you really want.

Kyle: Why does everyone think they know what’s best for me? Trelegy for copd.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue. What can you do with sensitive skin?

Abby: It’s so toxic.

Summer: I blame diane. I’m kind of surprised that your mom hasn’t filled you in on all of this.

Abby: We haven’t had a heart-to-heart recently. I felt like she was dodging me, but I thought it was because she was planning this wedding to tucker. I had no idea she was starting her own company.

Summer: Yeah, it’s all coming to a head.

Abby: It sounds like it. And my biggest problem used to be straddling the newman-abbott fence.

Summer: And now there’s a fence in the middle of the abbott living room. I’m just glad that I don’t have to deal with that tension anymore. Abby, what are you gonna do if this conflict between your mom and jack comes down to a board vote?

Abby: I have no idea. My mom’s hinted around about whether I’d support her, but she hasn’t asked me directly. And I can’t imagine my uncle jack would suggest I’d vote against my own mother.

Summer: Uh, I wouldn’t be sure about that. It’s gotten pretty vicious.

Abby: I can’t vote against my uncle jack either. I mean, I– I guess if it comes down to it, I would have to abstain.

Summer: Diplomatic. I mean, not voting? That’s making a statement. So, why not make it count? I think that you’re gonna have to pick a side.

Jack: So, does this newfound willpower mean that you’re coming around about diane?

Nikki: Oh, no. No, that will never happen. I can never forget and forgive what she did to me, framing me for her murder. Although, I probably won’t be forming a new cabal to banish her either. I’m just tired of wasting all my time and energy on her. No offense.

Jack: No offense taken. Actually, I’m happy to get any victory I can here. So is diane. I enjoy distracting her with positive thoughts these days.

Nikki: Well, I hate to admit it, but you do seem happy. I haven’t seen that sparkle in your eyes in a very long time. And even though you’re going through all of this with jabot, all you have to do is say her name and you light up.

Jack: I am unequivocally in love with diane. She is a changed person. She has left behind the thing that everyone hated about her, all of it.

Nikki: Well, maybe not all.

Jack: Look, she deserves a chance at this new life of hers. I will not get tired of saying that. So, I’ll be damned if I let anyone, least of all, ashley, take that from us.

Nikki: Jack, did it ever occur to you that maybe that’s not what she’s doing?

Jack: No, not at all. Ashley is single-mindedly determined to bring diane down.

Nikki: Maybe starting a new company is her way of coping. Now, I know that you have managed to let go of all of your issues about diane, but you can’t expect all of us to do that. I mean, maybe ashley is putting some distance between herself and diane as a way of saving your family, not destroying it.

Jack: That’s wishful thinking. My sister is forcing my hand and I am so worried that there is no coming back from this rift.

Tucker: Eh, I don’t know. Bringing jabot down one employee at a time seems pretty slow and tedious and potentially unsuccessful. Why can’t we do something more positive? Why can’t we concentrate on getting simply ashley up and running, right? We don’t have time to make jabot die a slow and painful death.

Ashley: I don’t want jabot to die a slow and painful death. I don’t want it to die at all. I want to save it. I want to make jack see that there’s no loyalty under diane. And we tried to use the board against her.

Tucker: Right. And failed to get a majority.

Ashley: Exactly. So, now what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna lure the staff away with more money and better positions and the knowledge that jabot is headed for a crash because of jack.

Tucker: Jack appears to have acquired a lot of loyalty over the years. It’s not gonna be easy.

Ashley: Okay, we’re gonna undo that. We’re gonna make all these people, all these employees see that jack’s obsession with diane is costing the company greatly. Diane is the key. She’s the key. We have to make them hate and distrust her as much as they love and respect jack. Listen, if I can’t save my brother, I am going to save my father’s legacy.

Diane: Here’s to fighting ashley and tucker and protecting jack.

Billy: If it comes to that. Seriously, diane, you don’t need to worry about this stuff. You’ve got this epic wedding to plan. You gotta make sure that your gown is ready and the location is locked and all the invites are ready to go out. I’m sure the guest list is massive.

Diane: Uh, thanks, but I’ve got it under control. I’ve been working my way down my to-do list when I’m not focused on learning the ropes of my new position.

Billy: And speaking of them, I bet you wish you would have waited ’til after the epic wedding before you took on the new job.

Diane: No, I love being chief talent officer. Getting up to speed on staffing and networking with headhunters.

Billy: Because from what jack said, it’s gonna be quite the party. I mean, you really should be focusing just on that. You don’t have to worry about petty human resource issues here at jabot.

Diane: You know, billy, I find it hard to believe that you’re that interested in the details of our ceremony. Why are you focusing on this?

Billy: Because I’m gonna urge you to do something. Something that you’re probably not gonna want to do. But it is in the best interest of jabot. And more importantly, jack.

Diane: What’s that?

Billy: Resign. I’m jonathan lawson

Tucker: So, the idea is to sick phyllis on diane, which will throw diane off the rails and then weaken jabot by taking back your company and your patents. It’s pretty good. I do like the way your mind works.

Ashley: Thank you. I appreciate that. And just having phyllis in diane’s vicinity is gonna completely throw her off her game. She is going to do something stupid, jabot will stumble, and simply ashley will be up and running and ready to go.

Tucker: Staffed by former jabot employees.

Ashley: Yes.

Tucker: And then we swoop in and take over the weakened jabot.

Ashley: Yeah.

Tucker: Wow, you’re ruthless.

Ashley: Only because I have to be. And by the way, it’s very exciting. Thank you very much for helping me make it happen.

Tucker: Uh, in that case, why don’t you reward me by admitting you’re in love with me?

Mariah: I’m not trying to tell you how to feel or what you should do, I’m just trying to be a friend. And sometimes that means pointing out hard truths.

Kyle: No, no, I heard you. You think I’m too angry to think straight, but mariah, I have more clarity than I have had in a long time. So, I’m gonna be a friend to you too. I think you should jump ship from jabot.

Mariah: Oh. Wait a second, are– are– you want me to leave in solidarity?

Kyle: No, no, not for me, for you. If I am an example of how they will treat family, just imagine how they will treat you.

Mariah: I– I think you and I are in very different situations.

Kyle: There’s a battle brewing. It’s gonna get uglier before it gets better. You are talented. There are dozens of companies who will hire you in a minute.

Mariah: Thank you. I appreciate that, but I’m– I’m not looking for that kind of upheaval in my life right now. I have– I’ve got a family. I got a baby to take care of. And, I mean, what about tessa? Are you gonna demand that she resign as the face of marchetti? We’re not the abbots. We rely on paychecks.

Kyle: Suit yourself. I have to go.

Mariah: Hang on, hang on! Are you seriously upset with me because I won’t resign in protest?

Kyle: You were honest with me, so I’m being honest with you. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Good luck. Enjoy working with summer.

Nikki: I’m concerned to hear you predict a point of no return with ashley. And I know how committed you are to your father’s legacy. How far are you willing to go to save jabot and diane?

Jack: As far as I have to go. No two things are more important to me in my life.

Nikki: What about your son? What about harrison? I mean, you’re talking about igniting a family war.

Jack: This isn’t about them. This is between ashley and me.

Nikki: I know you can be tough, even cutthroat if you want to be, but tucker mccall, he is operating on a whole other level. If he is provoked, he can be as unpredictable and mean-spirited as they come.

Jack: That’s why this fight is so important. We’re about to become in-laws if ashley follows through with this sham engagement.

Nikki: Jack, it has been so many years since you battled with victor. Do you really want to become that person again?

Diane: So, that’s what you wanted all along. To get me out of jabot. I thought you were on my side, but it sounds like you’re working with ashley.

Billy: No, no, no, no. Come on. Don’t be ridiculous. You know that’s not happening. Okay? This is my idea.

Diane: So, jack doesn’t know about this.

Billy: No.

Diane: No because he wouldn’t approve.

Billy: Unless he thought it was your idea.

Diane: Billy, even if I were to convince jack that it was my idea, he’d never buy it. And giving up my job means that ashley wins and I am not about to let that happen.

Billy: Diane, I’m not asking you to walk away forever. It’s just until things calm down and the dust settles.

Diane: I am not gonna walk away at all. That’s exactly what ashley and tucker are waiting for. Any misstep on my part they can latch on to to prove that I don’t deserve to be chief talent officer or any job at jabot.

Billy: I get it. I really do. I understand your reluctance. But if you pull back a little bit and look at the big picture, I think even you can agree that you are the driving force in ashley’s declaration of war. And if you remove yourself from the equation, well, then maybe this doesn’t get so ugly. Look, you say you want to protect jack and jabot. This is your opportunity to do that, by putting them first. Do you struggle with occasional nerve aches

Ashley: I’d like a refill, please.

Tucker: Before I pour, I want to know you’re gonna toast to us. I want to hear you tell me you love me.

Ashley: Has anybody ever told you that you talk too much? What’s that saying… about actions?

Diane: You’re asking me to give up something I’ve worked extremely hard for.

Billy: Okay, look, I– I don’t mean any offense, but let’s just be honest, jack gave you this job with a big bow attached to it.

Diane: Yes, but becoming the person who deserves it took decades of reinvention.

Billy: Diane, I don’t see the sacrifice in temporarily walking away from the job if it means avoiding an escalation from ashley. Look, you say you want to protect jack and I believe you. This is the way to do it with the least amount of bloodshed.

Jack: What are you both doing here so late? Everything all right?

Diane: Uh, yes, billy and i were just discussing how to handle ashley and tucker.

Jack: And?

Diane: And billy believes that they won’t ultimately prove to be a threat.

Jack: I could not disagree more. We can’t afford to think that way. We need to prepare for war. I will be very disappointed if I can’t count on you, billy.

Billy: Jack, just because I see the threat differently than you doesn’t mean I’m against you.

Jack: But are you willing to fight for the family company if I’m right and they come after us?

Billy: When it comes to you and jabot, I will do what needs to be done. Always.

Devon: Hey, pretty lady.

Abby: Hi.

Devon: So many good memories here.

Abby: Yeah. This penthouse will always hold a special part of your heart.

Devon: Yes, it will. And you know, you are a big reason for that.

Abby: Mm.

Devon: ‘Cause this is where we both realized we’re in love with each other.

Abby: Yeah.

Devon: I’ll never forget that. And now, it’s lily’s turn to make brand new memories.

Lily: Okay, can I tell you a secret?

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Lily: So, I have always envied devon’s place and now I get to live there.

Daniel: You’re really excited about this move, aren’t you?

Lily: Yeah. I’m really excited, I am.

Daniel: I bet you have a million new decorating ideas.

Lily: Uh, no, actually. I’m gonna leave it the way it is for now. Devon’s leaving it furnished, he’s not taking anything to chancellor mansion. But, um, I’ll add my own personal touches to it.

Daniel: Okay. But if you do need any help visualizing, you know, I can always work up some, uh, sketches for you.

Lily: Floor plans and a video of my own likeness? How did I get so lucky?

Daniel: Well, you are queen liliana, remember?

Lily: That’s right.

[ Lily laughing ] Well, you’re very generous, thank you. I wish you didn’t have your meeting later, you could come with me to grab the keys.

Daniel: Ah, it’s okay. I’m sure I’m gonna see your new place very, very soon.

Lily: Okay, good.

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Nick: Yeah. Part of me does care about my brother.

Sally: Hmm. Wasn’t so hard to admit, was it?

Nick: He is my brother and that is never going to change. Now, it doesn’t mean I trust him because I don’T. Not even a little bit. I wish I did, but he has let me and the family down so many times.

Sally: Yeah, he definitely has a knack for letting people down. But somehow, he makes people want to help him. I don’t know if it’s because we’re hoping that he eventually becomes the person that he’s really supposed to be.

Nick: I mean, if only we knew who that person was.

Sally: Well, he has moments of actual change, but they never last long.

Nick: Doesn’t stop my dad, though. He is never going to give up hope, and I respect that as a father.

Sally: So, you think you can do it? Work with adam?

[ Nick sighing ]

Nick: I mean, it’s what my dad wants, and vic is clearly trying to squeeze me out of newman. Kind of think I have to consider it.

Sally: I agree with your father.

Nick: Wait, what? What’d you say?

Sally: I think your brother could use your sturdier, more positive influence. If you can handle it… I think you should say yes.

Adam: You’re proposing a merger?

Sharon: That’s right. Your new company with the company that cameron left me. We could run them together.

[ Adam chuckling ]

Adam: Seriously?

Sharon: Kirsten incorporated is a tech company. They create the kind of technology used by companies like mccall. It’s a perfect symbiosis. A win for both of us.

Adam: Okay, um, let’s hold on a second. Let’s just– let’s back it up. Cameron left you his company. Why?

Sharon: I’ve given up on trying to figure that out.

Adam: And you decided that you want to keep it and you want to merge it with my new company?

Sharon: Smart move, right?

Adam: Okay, um, let’s just hold off. Where is this idea coming from, and why in a million years would you think it’s a good idea for the two of us to partner up?

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Sharon: After everything that happened with the cameron ordeal, I just feel like I need a change. A new focus.

Adam: I mean, I– are you sure you don’t want to just sell it and be done with anything and everything that has to do with that psychopath?

Sharon: That was my first instinct. To get far away from anything connected with cameron as fast as I could. But now, I’m looking at the whole thing from a new perspective. Maybe that madman leaving me his company was some kind of a sign.

Adam: Right. Right. It was a sign to go with your first instinct.

Sharon: I’m sure he felt that he could keep his grips on me from beyond the grave, but it could be a sign that I’m supposed to try to make something good out of the bad. It’s almost as if that creepy weird move he made has galvanized something in me. Something that’s been bubbling for… a while now.

Adam: And that is?

Sharon: I don’t know. A new sense of purpose, something to feel passionate about. Maybe it’s something that I’ve been yearning for since rey died, but I was never willing to let it come to the surface. Or maybe this recent horrific event has shaken that loose. There must be something I can do with cameron’s company to make it useful.

Adam: I guess anything is possible.

Sharon: Just think. I could be a job creator on a grand scale. Really give something back to the world. Make a difference.

Adam: Sounds like you are really serious about this.

Sharon: I know it’s a bit different than my specific business experience, but the parallels are there. The way to run any successful business is to assemble the right team to support it and maintain a focused mission.

Adam: I mean, you could make kirsten incorporated a force for good, all on its own. Don’t need me, or any other company to do that.

Sharon: Your company’s product is media. Mine is the technology that carries that product to the consumer. We could be more effective, more efficient, and certainly more lucrative, together. Don’t you see how this could be good for everyone?

Abby: Have I told you lately how special you are and how much you mean to me?

Devon: I never get tired of hearing it.

[ Abby chuckling ]

Abby: I know this move is a big sacrifice. But here you are, doing it for dominic, with no regrets.

Devon: Of course. I’ll always live my life for dominic, you know that. And plus, I’m happy that he gets to have a connection to his great-grandma, just by livin’ in that house. It’s special for him.

Abby: Yeah, but this place will always have a special part of his heart.

Devon: Oh.

Abby: And mine as well.

Devon: Not changing your mind, are you?

Abby: No, I’m not changing my mind, I just–

Devon: Are you sure?

Abby: This is the first place that we lived together as a couple, and– I don’t know, there’s a lot of memories here. I’m just happy that we can come back and visit lily any time we want.

Devon: That’s right. Worked out well for everyone, didn’t it?

Abby: Yeah.

[ Abby sighing ]

Devon: Oh. You ready?

Abby: Yeah.

[ Abby chuckling ]

Devon: Bye for now.

Chloe: Hey, this is huge. Taking over as creative director at marchetti? I mean, this is a big get for you. You deserve it. You really deserve it, though. You are so talented. And just think, with you in that position, maybe I could get some deals with marchetti, and, well, you know that home line that phyllis started a while ago? Maybe then sally and I can get some deals on her products, and then use the line for our interior design business. Ugh! This is so great. I mean, mostly– mostly for you, but– but for me, too.

Billy: And just like that, you gotta say yes. For chloe’s sake, if not your own.

Chloe: Huh?

Nick: That is a switch.

Sally: Huh. When you first came to me with victor’s proposal, I was adamant that adam didn’t need any help, least of all from you.

Nick: So, what happened to make you change your mind?

Sally: I have just been so furious with adam. This deep, agonizing anger and fury that just compounded my own pain.

Nick: But there must have been some catalyst for this change of heart, sally.

Sally: I read adam’s letter. And I have to admit, it… touched me.

Nick: I thought you threw it away.

Sally: Well, I did. Until I didn’T. I’m afraid my curiosity got the best of me.

Nick: Ah. I don’t need to read that. Most important thing is how you felt after you read it.

Sally: It seemed like a cry for help. You know, he wanted to meet with me and work together through this pain, like two parents who shared a common loss.

Nick: So, did you meet with him?

Sally: I couldn’t bring myself to do it. But you know, the more time I thought about it, I started to see… a different perspective about what adam has been going through. Yes, I’m still angry, and I don’t know if I’m ever gonna be able to accept his decision to not fight for our little girl, but… it cost adam, too. He took a hit and suffered a loss as well.

Nick: Well, I’m glad you finally see it that way.

Sally: Yeah, it’s a profound and life-changing experience to live with. I think he needs someone, nick. And that someone could be you. Sometimes jonah wrestles with falling asleep…

Adam: Look, sharon, I have a very broad vision for the company. But it does not include a partnership. I’m sure that you can find the right partnership for what you’re looking for. I mean, maybe you could, uh, hook up with nick. Evidently, he’s been squeezed out of newman. You could probably hire him as a consultant.

Sharon: Well, that’s not what I’m interested in. This is about a partnership. A merger. An opportunity for both of us to strengthen our companies. And we’d have to run the numbers, but from what I can discern, this is a cost-effective move. Why are you not interested?

Adam: It’s– it’s not what I have planned.

Sharon: Well, you’re a visionary, so open your mind and envision this. You and me, working together, balancing each other out.

Adam: Oh, so on my own I’m unbalanced, is that what you’re pointing to?

Sharon: You’re just looking for a reason to be offended. I meant that you would balance me out.

Adam: Listen to me, come on, sharon. I know you, okay? I know what you’re doing. You’re trying to save me from myself. This is about ava and it’s about sally, but I don’t need anyone’s pity, okay? Definitely not from you.

Sharon: No pity. I promise. Just partnership.

Adam: Listen to me. Think– think this through, sharon. If I feel you’re trying to manage me, I’m gonna be difficult and I’m gonna be argumentative. I’m gonna question every move you make. I’m gonna second guess every look you give me. This evolving friendship that we’ve managed to maintain, it’s gonna be blown to hell. Are you willing to risk that? Because I’m not. Not when you’re one of the only friends I have in this town.

Chloe: You know, I was just giving my friend a career pep talk and I was going quite well without you intrusion.

Billy: Pep talk, right? Uh, to me it sounded like you’re doing a bang-up job explaining what’s in it for you. Truth be told, I’m– I’m on her side. I think it would be a great opportunity for you. It’s bold. It’s big picture, and with your talent, I think you’d knock it out of the park.

Chelsea: Thank you. I’ve been thinking about it, too, you know? My time with omegasphere is almost over and I need a new direction. Working on the game has been helpful and cathartic, but I need to focus on the future and I love fashion design. And I’ve run my own business before. I know both sides of the industry.

Chloe: I can vouch for that.

Chelsea: I mean, wouldn’t it be cool? Wouldn’t it be great? This company that’s already established, already so big, they already have funding. They already have support.

Billy: So? Go for it.

Chloe: It would be a great new challenge for you.

Chelsea: I think you’re right. I think I have to do it. Well, I– I just have to run it by the boss first.

Chloe: Ah. Connor.

Chelsea: Yeah. We thought he was bouncing back. He was acting like his old self again and now he’s just shut down. I think he had gotten really used to the idea of having a baby sister. But maybe my exciting new job news will help break him out of his shell.

Summer: When I saw mom, all I wanted to do was hug her. I mean, obviously, I love her, and I– I miss her so much, but at the same time, I am so mad at her for everything that she’s done.

Daniel: Yeah. Well, that’s mom. Frustrating as hell.

[ Summer sighing ] What’s the plan? Is she ready to stop living on the run?

Summer: I think she wants to, but we’ve gotta find that carson guy, get him to testify to what a psychotic menace stark was.

Daniel: Mm-hmm. Yeah, the emt.

Summer: Yeah. And the problem is, he’s apparently, like, fallen off the face of the earth. No one can find him, so mom is relying on michael to track him down, and when he does that, maybe then, she can come home without going directly to jail.

Daniel: That’s a lot of ground to cover.

Summer: Mmm. Yep. I want mom to come home. I do, but there’s still a part of me that–

Daniel: You’re mad at her. Like, I get it.

Summer: Yeah. Yeah. And she– she was apologizing to me for everything that she’s put me through, and I– I just told her, flat out. She should be.

Daniel: Yeah. I’m sure that landed well.

Summer: She started promising that when she gets back, she’s gonna fix everything for me, as long as she’s not behind bars.

Daniel: Oh. Mom unleashed and ready to solve all of your problems, that just sounds like a dangerous combination.

Summer: Yeah. It is the last thing that I want, but I just gotta tell myself that there is gonna be time to fix all of this emotional stuff. Right? When she’s home, and safe and free, you know? Can’t really do any real healing until this nightmare’s over.

Daniel: Maybe that feeling will lead to some forgiveness between you and kyle.

Summer: I can’t force kyle to forgive me. He– he’s barely speaking to me as it is. He’s already moved on to a new job at newman media.

Daniel: Really? That was fast.

Summer: I know. Not to mention audra charles is now the acting ceo there and she’s a shark. She learned everything that she knows about business from tucker mccall. I don’t trust her. Not for a second.

Daniel: Mm, kyle’s smart. He’s a good businessman.

Summer: I’m just afraid that he’s making rash decisions. To prove a point that he– he’s not ready to hear anything like that from me.

Daniel: It’s– that’s gonna take time. You’re gonna have to give him time, but I’m sure– I’m sure kyle’s gonna get over this.

Summer: Maybe. Maybe once mom is home, he’ll be more receptive. Right now, he’s not listening to me at all. I just feel like we’re in this… holding pattern. Right now, all– all I can do is… let it go. Choosing a treatment for your chronic migraine –

Abby: Hi, hello!

Devon: There she is.

Lily: Hello. Hi. Did you leave my place in good condition? Hm?

Devon: Oh, that depends on what you consider good.

Abby: We even left a bottle of champagne chilling in the fridge for you.

Devon: I did. Just a little something to christen the place.

Lily: Wow, thank you guys.

Devon: Of course. Thank you for keeping the penthouse in the family. It means a whole lot, you being there. And I even went ahead and I left some of dad’s photos and his favorite albums for you.

Lily: Thank you. That means a lot. Yeah, I am very ready to move on from my place with billy.

Devon: Yeah?

Lily: Yeah.

Devon: I have a feeling you’ve already moved on from billy.

Abby: You are gonna need someone to share that bottle of champagne with.

Devon: Mm-hmm. Wonder how much time daniel’s gonna be spending in the new spot?

Lily: Um, I don’t know.

Devon: That’S…

Lily: I’m just, you know, I’m along for the ride. I’m enjoying the journey.

Daniel: I know this is hard. Letting go is hard, and seeing kyle move in a different direction, away from your marriage, it has to be heartbreaking. Now, I know, because I dealt with the same thing with heather.

Summer: We’ve both made mistakes that cost us people we love.

Daniel: I couldn’t get my act together in time to save my relationship.

Summer: I hope that it isn’t too late for me and kyle. I mean, I am gonna try again, I am, once this whole crisis is over. I’m gonna remind him of how much we love each other. How no matter what we go through, we always end up together. I’m just– I’m just struggling so much right now. I mean, everything with marchetti, with mom, trying to make sure that harrison’s life isn’t turned upside down again.

Daniel: Definitely sounds like you have your hands full.

[ Summer sighing ]

Summer: Daniel, promise me that you’re not gonna let any of this stop you. It seems like you’ve got a really good thing going with lily and I don’t want to see you screw that up.

Daniel: I swear. From now on, I will do whatever it takes to hold onto everything and everyone I love. And I am never gonna regret not doing enough again.

Nick: Well, my gut feeling is telling me that adam’s letter is yet another subtle attempt at playing with your emotions.

Sally: Subtle? Hardly. He definitely reached out in a very definitive way. But it didn’t seem manipulative. You know, when I read it, I could feel how real and raw his emotions were.

Nick: Yeah, adam is usually neither of those two things.

Sally: I just feel really bad for the way that I brushed him off. I was so angry and upset that I just ignored his reaction to everything that happened, you know? He’s been going through all this pain with no support from anyone.

Nick: Yeah, adam brings that on himself.

Sally: Yeah, I can’t deny that adam can be his own worst enemy. But I suspect, with this whole merry-go-round, that he could go into that dark place that everyone thinks he can, and I just don’t want that consequence on my conscience, do you?

Nick: So what are you saying? You’re gonna reach out to him? See if you can save him?

Sally: I don’t know if I’m ready for that. But I do know that it is not a good thing that he is out there on his own, all alone, with those thoughts spinning in his head.

[ Sally sighing ] He needs someone, nick. These hands used to hold me as a little girl.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

Nick: All right, I’m going to think about stepping in at mccall temporarily. I guess it’s better me than you.

Sally: I can handle myself. But I do not want you making any decisions about your future, or your career, based on what you think is best for me.

Nick: Well, it won’t be the only reason. What would be so wrong with that?

Sally: Look, I know that you want to be supportive and protective, but it’s– it’s not necessary. Give me a little more credit. And just try not think about the worst with adam. He needs you. Maybe now more than ever.

Nick: Well, I know my brother has issues, but I don’t think he’s needy.

Sally: Okay. Then what about you? You said that you need a safe place to land if you don’t go back to newman. You and adam got to a better place at one point. You think you can get there again? If you do it for adam, or you do it for you, good. But just please don’t do it because of me.

Abby: So, have you decided if you’re gonna make any changes to the decor at your new place?

Devon: Oh, yeah.

Lily: Uh, no, nothing major. I mean, I’ll add my own touches to it here and there, you know.

Devon: Well, make sure you know that you can change whatever you want. You can repaint, you can get new furniture ’cause it’s completely yours.

Lily: Well, thank you. It’s pretty fabulous as is.

[ Both laughing ]

Devon: Well, good. Um, I guess all that’s left is the, uh, ceremonial passing of the keys.

Lily: Ooh!

Abby: Ta-da!

Lily: Wow! Thank you, guys.

Devon: Congrats.

Lily: Oh, honestly, I’m so honored. I really am. And to be honest, I’m actually really excited for you two as well.

Devon: Oh, yeah?

Lily: Well, yeah. I mean, going to the chancellor mansion, I mean, that’s– it’s a big deal. You know? And you’re gonna make all these great memories, with dom, and have all these parties, and family events, right?

Devon: Yeah.

Lily: I’m excited to be part of the adventure with you two. I am.

Devon: Well, thank you.

Lily: You’re welcome. Anyway, I’m gonna go and check out the albums that you left me, so thank you.

Devon: Please do.

Lily: And I will see you guys later.

Abby: Bye!

Devon: Enjoy yourself!

Lily: Okay. Bye.

Abby: Well, you certainly put her on the spot.

Devon: What do you mean on the spot?

Abby: About daniel?

Devon: Oh. She’s fine. If anything, I just gave her a little nudge.

Abby: Hmm.

Sharon: I understand. You know, you’ve been through a lot of transitions lately, and emotional trauma, and I can see why you would be concerned about keeping our friendship intact.

Adam: Okay. But you see, see, it’s– it’s that kind of language that makes me think that you’re acting out of pity.

Sharon: Oh, my gosh. Enough, adam. You have got to get over this assumption that caring is pity or that needing help is a sign of weakness. We know each other far too well for that.

Adam: Okay. Since you know me so well, you know why I’m concerned about rocking the boat on our somewhat fragile relationship.

Sharon: I don’t think this is nearly the risk to our friendship as you seem to think that it is. After everything that we’ve been through, we’ve still managed to get here now. I don’t think that being business partners is gonna change that. Won’t you at least give it a shot?

Adam: Look, I’m– I’m not a mess. And shutting down or falling apart or whatever everyone’s expecting of me. I don’t need saving from myself, it’s just– it’s how I feel.

Sharon: Adam, won’t you at least–

Adam: Look. Listen. I’m not saying no.

Sharon: I know that we’re gonna be terrific partners.

Adam: Okay. Not yet. However, I can see there might be some value in kirsten’s company. And I owe you. A lot. So if I can be any use to you, I have to consider what you’re suggesting.

Sharon: That’s all I ask. This isn’t charmin!

Abby: Cheers.

Devon: Cheers.

Adam: Well, look at this. What’s, uh, what’s the occasion?

Abby: Um, devon and i are moving into the chancellor estate and lily’s moving into the penthouse.

Adam: Well, I’ll assume that you didn’t force chance out against his will, so I guess congrats are in order?

Devon: Thank you.

Abby: Yes, you assumed correctly. It was actually chance’s idea for us to move.

Adam: How civil of him. Well, what’s lily doing with her old place? I, uh, I’m looking for a new base of operations.

Devon: She didn’t say what she’s gonna do with it, but you should reach out to her.

Adam: I will do that.

Devon: Yeah. How’s everything going with tucker’s company? You guys figured out a strategy to get it back on its feet?

Adam: Oh, come on, don’t tell me that you regret not taking it after you had your chance.

Devon: Oh, no. Not at all. I’m just curious.

Adam: Well, uh, since you asked, I’m in the middle of downsizing and trying to refocus our assets and divisions. Trying to streamline it into a top media corporation and gobble up the smaller ones. Like newman media. And there would only be two real media companies in this town, my company and chancellor’s media divisions.

Devon: That’s– that’s pretty ambitious, considering I’ve seen mccall’s books. You guys have a lot of work to do.

Adam: Oh, trust me. I am on it. Things are already falling into place.

Devon: Okay.

Adam: And I’m sure that you and lily will get a sense of, uh, satisfaction to see newman media eliminated. Be kind of, um, karmic justice to nate and audra for what they tried to do to chancellor-winters.

Lily: Oh, what? Excuse me, how did you get in here? And– oh, my god, how did you do this?

Daniel: Well, you know, believe it or not, I’ve kinda got an inside track with the previous owner.

Lily: Oh, that’s what devon meant when he was asking about you coming over. I thought he meant in the future.

Daniel: Well, at least he was able to keep my secret. Look, I just– I wanted this place to feel like home for you right off the bat. It’s a new beginning and it’s one you deserve.

Lily: Thank you. I love your optimism. It is so contagious. And I love that you’re always able to see the silver lining in things. Okay, should we christen this place now? Properly?

Daniel: Let’s do it.

Lily: Right?

Billy: There he is.

Chelsea: Oh. Hey! So, how did it go?

Billy: Did you score?

Connor: Yeah. Once.

Chelsea: Wha– that’s great!

Billy: It’s good!

Chelsea: That beats not scoring at all, right?

Billy: How ’bout a little ice cream to celebrate, huh? What’s your flavor?

Connor: I’m fine.

Billy: Really?

Connor: Yes.

Billy: Okay, well, I’m gonna go check and see what they got just in case you change your mind, all right? I’ll be back. Good job.

[ Chelsea sighing ]

Connor: Why do I get the feeling you want to talk? Is this about the baby? Don’t tell me you want to talk about that again.

Chelsea: Only if you want to. Connor… a lot of things have happened lately and I’m sure you have mixed feelings about everything, so if you– if you want to talk, I–

Connor: No, I don’T. Is that it?

Chelsea: No, actually, um, I have some exciting news to share with you. I– well, I hope you’ll find it exciting.

Connor: Okay.

Chelsea: I have been asked to be the new creative director at marchetti. It’s kind of exciting, right? See, you just never know what opportunities life is gonna throw at you. You just gotta take a chance. Right?

Connor: Sure, mom.

Chelsea: But I would never take this job without talking to you first. Because it will impact us both. My hours will be longer, which means I’ll have less time to spend with you. I may not be home when you get home from school. Would you be okay with all of that? Because connor, you always come first.

Connor: Don’t worry, mom. I’m fine. You sound all excited, so yeah, you should go for it.

Chelsea: Are you sure? Maybe you should take some time to think about it, make sure it’s how you really feel.

Connor: No, really. It’s cool. We should celebrate with pizza later. Yolo, right?

Chelsea: Yolo?

Connor: You only live once.

Chelsea: Yeah. Yeah, no, I– I– I know what it stands for, I just, um– I– well, yeah. That sounds like fun.

Connor: Okay. See you later, then. I’ve gotta get back on the field.

Chelsea: Okay. I love you.

Connor: I love you.

[ Chelsea sighing ]

Billy: Seemed like it went well with connor.

Chelsea: Well, he seems okay with it. Still a little shut down though. I will take care of him, but for now, I am gonna contact summer.

Billy: Yes!

Chelsea: Mm-hmm.

Billy: That’s exciting. Very excited. I’m glad to see you happy.

I have type 2 diabetes,

[ Billy and chelsea laughing ]

Summer: Chelsea! I hope you have good news for me. Is that why you texted me to meet?

Chelsea: Uh… I’ve reconsidered your job offer. And I’m very, very interested now.

Summer: Ah! You are? Oh, that’s amazing! Oh, finally. Something is going right.

Nick: So, I’m considering taking dad up on his request to work with adam, so I can keep an eye on him and prevent him from going down the rabbit hole.

Sharon: That’s great, nick. And you may have an assist on your mission. I asked adam to help me turn cameron’s company around. I pitched a merger of our companies. I’m hoping that he will embrace the positive spin that I would like to bring to it.

Nick: Look at you.

Sharon: Imagine. If we merged, mccall’s media assets and cameron’s technology. We would be an amazing powerhouse. It’s such a great solution. I hope adam says yes. I mean, why would he not?

Nick: I mean, it sounds pretty good to me.

Sharon: And if you agree to work with adam, that means that it’ll be the three of us. Win, win, win! Unless you two kill each other.

[ Nick sighing ]

Abby: I’m ready. Are you?

Devon: Ready for what, exactly?

Abby: Well, to get dom and go home and start this new phase of our lives.

Devon: I am very ready and I’m very excited for this bold new future we have.

Abby: Ooh, it is pretty bold, isn’t it?

Devon: It is.

Abby: Let’s go.

Devon: Okay. Let’s go. Adam.

Adam: Hm?

Devon: Real quick, man. Um, I know that you have, like, kind of a history of going to war with your family over the years. I’m sure you have your reasons for that, but I just– I don’t want you to think that lily and i wanna do that same thing with nate. Or that we’ll be happy if you take him down in some way. We don’t want that kind of energy out there.

Adam: Sure. Okay.

Devon: Yeah.

Adam: Whatever you say.

Devon: Thank you.

[ Adam clears throat ]

Adam: Hey. Did you get the changes that I sent you? Good. Good. Good. Good. Good.

[ Adam chuckling ] No, newman media won’t know what hit ’em.

Ashley: Stop it! You’re the worst.

Tucker: Yeah. And the best thing that ever happened to you.

Ashley: No. Vice versa.

Tucker: All right. We’ll call it a draw. There it is.

Ashley: All right. Let’s call it a draw.

Diane: Ugh! Oh, for the love of god, get a room.

**”*******************

Ashley: What are you doing here, Diane?

Tucker: Yeah, Diane. What are you doing here? Don’t you have a job?

Ashley: Yeah. Shouldn’t you be at jabot exploiting your position and the title that you definitely don’t deserve as you slowly grind away at my father’s company?

Tucker: Ooh, I love it when you use the word grind.

Diane: Ugh! You two are ridiculous.

Transcript provided by Suzanne

Victoria: Nicholas. This is a surprise.

Nick: Yeah, I wasn’t sure if you deactivated my security badge or not.

Victoria: Uh, yes, and i also handed out your photo with a red line through your face. Do not admit. It’s not like you ever needed an id. You always charmed your way into the building. So, what brings you by?

Nick: My support team that you disbanded. I wanted to make sure they landed on their feet after you pulled the rug out from under them.

Adam: Okay, then I suggest you give them a business lesson because the only way for a company to grow is for the dead parts to be cut away. Tucker did not mind hemorrhaging a fortune. I’m not interested in running a non-profit. Layoffs are a necessary part of life, so if our company is ever gonna grow, heads will roll. C’est la vie.

Summer: Mom. Mom.

Phyllis: Is it safe?

Summer: Yeah, I’m alone.

Phyllis: Okay. Did anyone follow you?

Summer: No. I was really careful, okay? One hug won’t doom us, right?

Phyllis: I know. Oh, it feels so great to hug you, summer.

Summer: I’ve missed you so much.

Phyllis: I’ve missed you too. I miss you too. All right, here. Let me take a look at you. What’s going on, summer?

Summer: Let’s just– let’s run away. You know, you and me, we could do– we could do mother-daughter travel and fashion vlogs from countries without extradition treaties with the us. I mean, it’s not like there’s anything keeping me here anymore.

Phyllis: Still no luck with kyle.

Traci: So, why is it every time someone calls a family meeting, I’m filled with dread.

Billy: Yeah, you’re not the only one.

Traci: I– I go down my list of possible crimes and I wonder what I’ve done.

Billy: I feel like we’re being summoned to the principal’s office.

Traci: Yeah.

Diane: Hi. Uh, there’s cinnamon rolls in the kitchen, if you’re tempted.

Billy: Uh, I am fine. Thank you. They’re literally buttering us up with buttery pastries. This is not gonna be good.

Traci: No.

Diane: Nothing sinister. We just thought we’d save time if met face-to-face.

Jack: Perhaps we should get right to the heart of the matter. Have a seat.

Traci: Uh, we can’t have a family meeting until the whole family’s here and I think we’re down a few.

Jack: The critical ones are here. Let’s– let’s start it.

[ Billy sighing ]

Ashley: Hi.

Tucker: Hi.

Ashley: I’m so sorry to keep you waiting.

Tucker: That’s it, the wedding’s off.

Ashley: Ha. Did you notice anything odd when you left the house today?

Tucker: Always. Why?

Ashley: Well, jack and diane’s behavior, like they’re up to something.

Tucker: Ugh, no doubt.

Ashley: Right?

Tucker: Every time you walk into the room, their conversation suddenly stops.

Ashley: Exactly.

Tucker: And they’ve got these little tight-lipped smiles on their faces all the time. Then they gotta do something else in another room whenever you come in.

Ashley: I guess we shouldn’t be that surprised considering that bomb that we dropped on them yesterday about us starting our whole new company.

Tucker: I love dropping bombs.

Ashley: Yeah? I never noticed that about you.

Tucker: In fact, I have a little bomb myself to drop. That is a secret weapon. You can also consider it your wedding gift. Lactaid is 100% real milk,

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Sharon: Your regular to go.

Adam: Well, hey, if you want me to go, sharon, just say so.

Sharon: Sounds like your new company’s keeping you pretty busy.

Adam: I would not have it any other way.

Sharon: Making sweeping decisions, just putting people out of work like that?

Adam: Well, it is easier if you think about them having faces or names. They’re just numbers in the hopper and when they’re numbers up…

[ Clicking tongue ]

Sharon: But you’ve not even met them. You barely know what their day-to-day jobs look like.

Adam: Look, business isn’t pretty and it’s not for everyone. I’m doing what is necessary to get mccall ready to take over newman media.

Sharon: You’ve barely gotten your seat warm in your new company and you’re already prepping to take over another one?

Adam: Look, I’m not gonna bore you with all of this, sharon. I’m sure that you have something sweeter to do.

Sharon: You wanna grab your family’s media company.

Sharon: You can come out now.

Victoria: It’s not as if I demanded your team’s resignation after you took your leave of absence.

Nick: Disbanding my team should’ve been a conversation.

Victoria: Well, if they have any grievances, they’re welcome to take it up with human resources. We’ve often restructured when a top executive leaves, for whatever reason.

Nick: And what happens when I come back?

Victoria: We’ll burn that bridge when we get there. Oh, come on. I’m kidding. I would’ve thought that a little time off would’ve at least given you your sense of humor back.

Nick: Not everything bounces right back, vic.

Victoria: Yes, I know that, which is why your staff has been given other duties in your absence so that you can have time. Time to recover and to help your family heal without the added pressure of coming back.

Nick: Well, what would I do without you?

Victoria: This isn’t some nefarious plan that I set in motion, you know that, right? Dad doesn’t have a problem with it.

Nick: Just because he’s silent, it doesn’t mean he agrees. It just means he’s busy.

[ Victoria laughing ]

Victoria: Doing what?

Nick: Doing the matchmaker thing again with me and adam. He wants us to brother up at the reinvented mccall.

Traci: So, ashley’s absence is intentional.

Billy: So, this isn’t a kinder, gentler plea for family harmony like traci tried a few days ago.

Jack: If you’re preparing a lecture about abbott family unity, I direct your attention to ashley, who announced her betrayal to the press before telling her family that she had started a company behind our backs.

Traci: Yeah, yeah, not the most tactful way.

Jack: I can think of better descriptors.

Traci: Jack, she has to know the kind of push back she’s gonna get from you.

Jack: So, the family’s the last to know because she’s a coward?

Traci: Am I going to have to say this? Okay, fine. Jack, you didn’t call us together for a family meeting when you announced diane’s promotion to the press.

Diane: That’s hardly the same thing.

Traci: Oh, really? Tell me how.

Jack: This is the second time in recent memory that ashley has chosen to play dirty. She’s not discussing this with any of us. She’s not answering my questions. If she’s determined to keep us in the dark, we have to protect jabot at all costs.

Traci: Oh, I hate to ask, what does that mean?

Kyle: Hey.

Diane: Kyle, hi.

Traci: Oh, hi, sweetheart.

Kyle: Family meeting minus ashley and me. Got something to tell me, now would probably be a good time. With downy infusions,

Sally: I’ve been meaning to thank you for the card and the flowers. It was very thoughtful, especially in light of everything you and nick and faith went through.

Sharon: Well, we all went through quite an ordeal that night.

Sally: Yeah, they should really make “I heard you were a badass and I’m glad you didn’t explode” cards.

Sharon: That would be… quite a niche market.

Sally: Thankfully.

Sharon: But you and adam, you lost your baby and I know how difficult that is. People grieve in many different ways, but they say if the parents can manage to grieve–

Sally: Together.

Sharon: Yeah, I– I don’t mean to overstep or suggest that you do something that makes you uncomfortable.

Sally: Thank you.

Sharon: It’s just sad to see both of your hearts broken like that.

Sally: Yeah, well, adam’s fine. He’s back to wheeling and dealing.

Sharon: You heard him on the phone.

Sally: Mm-hmm.

Sharon: Yeah. He’s, um, firing people left and right like it’s a game.

Sally: Mm-hmm. He’s playing god with people’s lives.

[ Sally sighing ] Anyway, if you can support him in any way, I’m sure it’d be much appreciated by his family and his employees, but I… don’t owe him anything and I have given all I plan to give. Thanks again.

Ashley: A wedding gift? Isn’t that just slightly premature?

Tucker: Okay, an engagement gift. What can I tell you? I’m a giver and a lover. That’s my curse.

Ashley: Yeah, we talked about this though.

Tucker: Inside that box is your fondest wish come true.

Ashley: Oh, I find that hard to believe. In a box? One that small? I think I need to give you a little refresher course on my hopes and dreams because, um, a phone number, really?

Tucker: Yes.

Ashley: And whose is it?

Tucker: It’s a gentleman I know who is the key to bringing phyllis home for good.

Ashley: Oh, and phyllis is the person that could get rid of diane once and for all. This guy’s gonna make my dreams come true?

Tucker: Yes.

Ashley: How’d you find him?

Tucker: Let’s just say he is closing in on the emt who survived phyllis’ ambulance crash.

Ashley: Okay, you’re not toying with my emotions, are you?

Tucker: No, I overheard michael talking with… michael talking with phyllis’ kids yesterday.

Ashley: Mm-hmm.

Tucker: And from what I’ve gathered, this carson guy, this emt, is the key to making her self-defense claim stick.

Ashley: That’s not gonna be enough to get her off the hook completely.

Tucker: Eh. Baldwin has been known to pull some rabbits out of a hat and she’s got you and nikki newman to vouch for her.

Ashley: Oh, I hate to get my hopes up. It hurts so bad when they crash and burn.

Tucker: I understand, but if I can bring this emt in on a platter, that’ll keep phyllis out of lockup. She would be beholden to us, would she not?

Phyllis: All right, tell me, where does it stand with you and kyle?

Summer: I got a room at the athletic club.

Phyllis: You did? Oh, no. What about harrison?

Summer: Harrison, he’s confused. He’s sad. He’s trying to act like he’s brave and it just sucks because I– I mean, I love him like he’s my own.

Phyllis: I know, but this is horrible.

Summer: Yeah, kyle hates me and I– I don’t know if I can turn it around.

Phyllis: Don’t say that! Of course you can turn it around. Hate is as strong as love. It’s an emotion that is as strong as love, okay? It’s filled with passion, so just step back and let kyle sort of go through what he has to go through and he’ll come around.

Summer: I don’t think I can talk myself out of this one.

Phyllis: God, I– I feel horrible that this is happening to you. I– I– I feel like I’m kind of responsible for this.

Summer: Well, yeah. You absolutely are.

Diane: Your father wanted to discuss the landscape that ashley and tucker are creating.

Jack: Yes, we’re discussing the family company. Clearly, not a concern of yours as you refused my offer to have you stay on at jabot.

Kyle: And I was co-ceo once. Ran marchetti. I had a seat at the table making decisions, and then you choose summer and expect me be okay with scraps?

Jack: You chose to chart your own course. I am trying to respect that. You can’t have it both ways.

Kyle: Is that the new motto? Family, you’re either in or you’re out? Is that right?

Diane: No, jack.

Traci: Let’s just take a moment and everybody just– just step back.

Billy: I don’t see the big deal, okay? Better or worse, we’re family here. Let him stay.

Diane: I know. Can we just talk about this?

Kyle: No, no, no, no, no. The great and all-knowing jack abbott has spoken. Let his will be done. At least I know where I stand.

Traci: Jack, don’t let this happen.

Jack: He’s made his choice.

Traci: You did not give him any choice! Sweetheart, look at me. Look, your place is here with all of us. It is. Please, just stay.

Diane: Jack, don’t do this.

[ Traci gasping ]

Kyle: Okay.

Traci: Really?

Diane: Kyle. We always had questions.

Sharon: Victor, where did you come from?

Victor: Hello, sharon. Well, that’s a long, complicated story.

Sharon: Well, I’m glad you’re here. I need some information.

Victor: Concerning?

Sharon: Your sons.

Victor: That is privileged information.

Sharon: What’s behind your push to have nick and adam work together?

[ Victor chuckling ]

Victoria: Dad’s playing matchmaker with you and adam… again.

Nick: You think he would’ve learned his lesson by now.

Victoria: Well, there is a crazy sort of logic to it, I suppose.

Nick: Said the sister who couldn’t wait to get rid of me.

Victoria: Oh, come on. That’s not true. You know how much I love you.

Nick: Then talk to me. I mean… [ Sighing ] You wanted me out of here, so you made it happen. You can’t even be honest about it. Why?

Victoria: I’m just trying to give you time to deal with your personal life. Stop trying to make me feel guilty.

Nick: What did it have to be nate? Why didn’t you replace me with him?

Victoria: He’s more in line with the way that I work now.

Nick: Oh, ruthless?

Victoria: Admit it. You’ve never had the stomach for that.

Nick: Who’s gonna be the voice of reason for you now?

Victoria: I don’t need one. I’m in a good place. The company’s in a good place. Look, if you wanna put your abilities to good use, then maybe you should go work with adam. If anyone could use a voice of reason, it’s definitely our brother.

Phyllis: I made so many mistakes. I put you through so much, summer. I’m so sorry. I– I didn’t even realize that you still needed me.

Summer: Look, daniel and i shut you out and I– I know how much that hurt you.

Phyllis: I know, but look what I put you through. I– listen, I’m gonna work this out. I’m gonna find a way to work this out for you–

Summer: No, mom. I don’t want you to get anymore involved in my marriage than you already are.

Phyllis: No, no. Listen, listen. I’m gonna talk to kyle–

Summer: No, please!

Phyllis: I’m gonna get him–

Summer: No. Look. I know your intentions are good and I really appreciate that, but this is just something that I need to work out on my own, okay? Uh, michael said that you might be ready to stop living on the lam?

Phyllis: Uh… yeah, yeah. He’s gonna try and find carson so I can come back to town and make everything up to everyone.

Summer: I’ve been saying that we should find carson and you shot me down. I mean. What– what’s changed?

Phyllis: Oh, I don’t know. Maybe he knows a little more than we thought.

Summer: Why would you think that?

Phyllis: I don’t know. Michael’s gonna find him. Listen, you just worry about kyle, okay?

Summer: I told you, mom, it might be too late for me and kyle.

Phyllis: Nope, nope. No. It’s never too late for love. Never. Love always finds a way.

Audra: Yeah, we can– we can look into that. You know, maybe it’s time you broke away from the family. The family business. You know, grab some freedom. It’s so much easier and cleaner when you go after what you want when you want it. And to hell with expectations.

Kyle: It’s quite an offer. I’m intrigued. Newman media is going places, that’s for sure. But, uh… it’s not really a decision I can make in the spur of the moment.

Audra: Hm. It’d be a lot more palatable than working with your estranged wife. Yeah, no, I’m excited about the possibilities. Uh, let me run it by my partner and see what he has to say. Oh, yeah. I’m looking forward to growing a relationship as well. Yeah, let’s stay in touch.

Kyle: This partner, anyone I know?

Audra: Possibly. About 6’2″, eyes I can drown in and kisses that can put the curl back in my hair.

Kyle: It’s kind of bold of you to assume, isn’t it?

Audra: That you’re dying to come work with me. Um, I’m just manifesting our future.

Kyle: Hm. Well, let’s talk about my future. Your job offer. I’m interested.

Audra: See? It pays to be bold. People call it the biggest smalltown festival in minnesota.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue. What can you do with sensitive skin?

Traci: I know that you’re upset with ashley.

Diane: But you can’t take it out on kyle.

Jack: He is old enough to face the consequences of his actions!

Diane: He’s hurting because of what happened with summer.

Jack: Yes, and this house is whole lot sadder without her here. He chose this course. We need to focus on jabot.

Billy: Pivoting to business, yeah? I suggest that we bump up the release of the teenage fragrance line. Marketing is ready to go, puts emphasis on what we actually do as a company.

Traci: Do you really think that ashley is that big a threat right out of the gate? I mean, aren’t they gonna need months to get this off the ground?

Jack: We don’t know if they’re building this from the ground up or if they bought a company that’s ready to market her products. She hasn’t told us and I probably don’t have to remind you, the last time she split from jabot, she took her patents and left us scrambling.

Billy: And this is assuming tucker’s behind this.

Jack: Oh, he has somehow seduced her into turning her back on us and make no mistake, his end game is jabot.

Diane: Then they’re both out of their minds.

Billy: Okay, we don’t have to worry about them. They can’t do anything to hurt jabot. They’ll have fun for a couple months, they’ll get bored and then they’ll be over it.

Jack: I wish I could be that nonchalant.

Traci: And I didn’t ever think I would ever live to see the day that billy is the calm and rational one. No offense, honey.

Billy: None taken.

Jack: We can’t just wait and see what ashley does. We have to act. Now. I suggest we see to it that our sister is removed from the jabot board immediately. Who’s with me?

Kyle: You like this, don’t you? Tempting me.

Audra: Oh, you like it too. You want more.

Kyle: Hm, I do.

Audra: You can have all you want, kyle. You know, I think we’ll work well together.

Kyle: How do you know that?

Audra: Intuition. You know, we have so much that we could teach each other, you know? And, uh, newman media needs us.

Kyle: Could be dangerous, mixing business and pleasure, don’t you think?

Audra: You know that feeling you get right under your skin when we’re together?

Kyle: Mm-hmm.

Audra: Imagine if you could infuse that electricity and energy into our company.

Kyle: That sounds like we’d be spending a lot of time with the doors locked. You know, putting our heads together.

Audra: Tell me what you want, kyle. Just say the words and it’s yours.

Kyle: Newman media.

Audra: Mm. Music to my ears. How soon can you start?

Kyle: Oh, no. She thought this was gonna be easy. No, I’m gonna make you work for it. I may take my time, make you wait. Watch you lose all your chill.

Audra: You wouldn’T.

Kyle: No?

Audra: You know, we should have a rule: No looking at me that way when we’re in a public place.

Kyle: What is that?

Audra: Like you wanna take me upstairs and finish what you’re starting.

Kyle: Mm. Can’t do that.

Audra: Now that– that would be bad.

Kyle: Mm-hmm.

Audra: I have a company to run and you, uh– you know, it would be so much better if we run it together.

Kyle: Okay. What’s the pay like?

Audra: Negotiable.

Kyle: I have demands.

Audra: You silver spoon in the mouth types are just used to having it your way, right? Tell me. How do I make you mine?

Sharon: I know that you would do anything to make adam happy, including risking the happiness of your other children, but here’s my question: Moving nick to mccall, is that to save adam or is that for your own benefit? Hoping that the boys would have some kind of sibling breakthrough working together?

Victor: What makes you think I can’t achieve both things at once?

Sharon: That’s an admirable goal. Nick can balance things out, as long as adam doesn’t feel resentful for the interference and add fuel to the fire.

Victor: Nick can handle himself.

Sharon: That’s true. But is it fair to put nick in that position? Where an already tense relationship could be made worse?

Victor: You have another solution?

Sharon: Hm… I don’t know. Maybe. I might.

[Stomach growling]

Nick: I know I upset you earlier when I was talking about working with adam.

Sally: You should be able to talk about adam whenever you want. So, I promise I will try and make space for that.

Nick: Good because I could really use your advice.

[ Nick sighing ]

Sharon: Good, you got my message.

Adam: Yeah. You said I forgot something?

Sharon: Your manners. You didn’t say goodbye.

Adam: Uh, sorry. I– I have a new company to run.

Sharon: Yeah, so do I. Exciting, isn’t it? Putting all the right ingredients together. Figuring out what works, what gives us the best outcome.

Adam: Wh– what company are you talking about?

Sharon: Kirsten incorporated. Cameron left it to me in his will. So now, as a new business owner, I have a proposition for you.

Tucker: Looking a gift horse in the mouth is considered bad form.

Ashley: I very much like my wedding gift. It was very thoughtful of you, actually.

Tucker: This is– this is the guy that can keep phyllis out of prison.

Ashley: I know, listen, I realize that I’m the one that said that phyllis is the answer to our– our diane problem, but she could be creating a whole new phyllis problem. I’m not sure we should get her involved.

Tucker: Well, she won’t be involved, per se. She’s just A… she’s like a battering ram. You just gotta wind her up and point her in diane’s direction.

Ashley: Problem is she doesn’t have an off switch. If she goes rogue, bad things happen. The last time she went rogue, jeremy stark ended up threatening my family. It wasn’t good.

Tucker: Well, look at it this way. Phyllis is an apex predator and now that stark is dead, phyllis is the top of the food chain.

Ashley: Yeah, she doesn’t know how to stop. She never does.

Tucker: Well, how much harm can one person do, really? And plus, she’s there for reinforcement. She’s an added level of attack.

Ashley: It’s very risky.

Tucker: But you like risk, don’t you?

Ashley: I do. I like it a lot, actually. When it comes to business. Not so much diane and definitely not where phyllis is concerned.

Tucker: Okay. How about we not point her in diane’s direction? We point her at jack’s?

Kyle: I’ll need you to be flexible. I mean, what I need in a partner may change moment to moment.

Audra: Done. What else can I do to make this transition smooth?

Kyle: It’ll take a lot to get me to put jabot in the rear view.

Audra: Well, I promise to make you forget and give you something to…

Summer: Hi. I’m glad that I found you. Unless I’m interrupting something.

Audra: Uh, no, not at all. I was actually just on my way to the office. It’s good to see you, summer.

Summer: You too.

Audra: Oh, kyle, uh, we’ll be in touch about that other matter.

Kyle: Counting on it.

Audra: Ta.

Summer: Ta.

Billy: I’m sorry, jack. You wanna remove ashley from the board of directors?

Traci: I can’t believe you’re even suggesting that.

Jack: I don’t see how she can possibly stay. She has just created a company in direct competition with jabot and there is a chance she could take her patents and run.

Billy: We don’t know if she can do that or if that’s her intention.

Traci: We didn’t oust her when she started her own company in paris.

Jack: She didn’t have tucker dripping poison in her ear at the time.

Traci: No, I am so sorry. Daddy wanted us all to have seats on the board for a reason. I’m with billy. Ashley stays.

Billy: It’s our decision, jack.

[ Jack sighing ] Diane, you’re practically family. I assume that you’re gonna stand with your fiance? Go with jack?

Diane: Actually.

Jack: Wait, actually what?

Diane: Well, we already talked about this. Ashley and tucker can only hurt us if we let them.

Traci: And that is how those of us on the high road get the majority, which is as it should be. Jack, please don’t make this worse. Hasn’t this blood feud gone on long enough?

Tucker: Imagine what diane’s reaction would be if phyllis could get jack to forgive her?

Ashley: Yeah, but phyllis, she’s just too unpredictable. I mean, she has no censor at all. I mean, she basically despises and distrusts everybody.

Tucker: Those are all positive qualities when it comes to using her. How is she the wrong person for this job? Are you just afraid that the other side is gonna retaliate?

Ashley: Well, they will. Jack is never going to forgive phyllis. She put diane in jail.

Tucker: I don’t know. I just– I trust phyllis to find a way. And phyllis’ freedom– actually, her very existence is an affront to diane. And she can get diane off her game in ways that we never could, so.

Ashley: Okay, look, if we decide to do this, you promise me that phyllis isn’t going to get arrested, she’s not going to go into hiding, she’s not gonna get dead again.

Tucker: Nobody gets dead in this one.

Ashley: You think it’s gonna work? This operation get rid of diane?

Tucker: Just need the right players. And a yes from you. You know I love to hear you say it. Say it. Tell me to find this carson guy.

Ashley: Okay.

Tucker: Okay.

Ashley: Let’s do it. Let’s get rid of diane once and for all. Yes. Yes, yes, yes.

Phyllis: Hi.

Michael: Oh– we have got to stop meeting like this. No, I mean it. Because if we don’t, you’re gonna get locked up. I mean, some internet detective with a drone up there or a police officer out on a stroll and your life on the run comes to a screeching halt!

Phyllis: Okay, listen to me. Listen to me.

Michael: What?

Phyllis: I’m running out of time. Summer’s whole life is imploding. Her entire marriage is falling apart, okay? I mean, I guess I could turn myself in, but I would never see daylight again. I have to help my daughter. I have to. At least, I have to try.

Michael: Because of your track records with relationships before? I mean…

Phyllis: I need your support. Michael, seriously. I need you. My daughter thinks that I’m to blame for her marriage falling apart.

Michael: All right, I hate to have to break this to you, but this might require more work and determination than even you possess, my friend.

Phyllis: I have to give it a try. I have to. I mean, I can’t have my daughter worried that I’m going to jail and worried that she’s gonna lose her husband at the same time. I can’T.

Michael: All right. I shouldn’t raise your hopes, but–

Phyllis: You gotta give me something. You do.

Michael: Listen to me, listen to me.

Phyllis: You gotta give me something. Did you find carson?

Michael: We are so close. If you could just hang on, just a little longer.

Summer: Could I ask what you and audra were talking about?

Kyle: She wants me to come work at newman media. Say it. Whatever it is.

Summer: Didn’t waste a minute.

Kyle: Who? Me or audra? My job as ceo of marchetti was sacrificed for you.

Summer: I’m the one that got the job at marchetti after the woman you had an affair and baby with threatened me. I left my home to protect your relationship with harrison. And– and you followed me to milan after I begged you not to. Do you remember that?

[ Summer sighing ] After I told you that we would never work together, that we didn’t belong together, you ignored me because you knew that deep in your heart that we did.

Kyle: No, no, no. Okay, okay, I’m not– I’m not doing this. Not here.

Summer: You know what? Fine. Fine. Fine. I’m gonna let you figure out where you belong now. I– I just want to remind you that audra is my brother’s ex. And he doesn’t trust her. She doesn’t seem– I don’t know, sketchy to you? Like she’s up to something?

Kyle: Maybe I do have a type after all.

[ Summer exhaling ]

Summer: You just want to hurt me and that’s fine, I get it, but I’m just trying to–

Kyle: I don’t– I don’t need anything from you, summer. I wish you the best with your choices because I’m doing just fine with mine.

Sally: So, I’m assuming this dilemma has something to do with victor asking you to join adam at mccall.

Nick: Yeah.

Sally: Okay. So, what would it look like if you did not go back to newman?

Nick: Well, vic would be overjoyed. She wants someone who’s more in line with her priorities.

Sally: Someone who brings out her vicious side?

Nick: Yeah, that is definitely not me.

Sally: And what happens if you take door #2?

Nick: If I went to mccall, I would just be a pawn in another one of dad’s games. But, if I’m being honest, it might be the best place for me right now, and if I did it, I wouldn’t be doing it for dad.

Sally: Why then?

Nick: I mean, you’ve seen adam. He’s got no one to talk to about what he’s gone through and he’s just gonna try and bury himself in his work and that will never work. Then, he’s gonna turn into the old adam again and then none of us is safe.

Sally: Wow. That was unexpected.

Nick: What?

Sally: You really care about your brother. Maybe more than you’ve ever admitted to yourself.

Sharon: You should see the condition cameron left his company in. It’s a mess, but it’s my mess. To be honest, it’s something that I never thought I wanted, but it’s funny how life throws you a challenge, something you didn’t expect, and you just figure it out.

Adam: Are– are you proposing that I buy this company from you?

Sharon: No, no. Not at all. I have the perfect recipe for success. We merge. We put it all together and turn it into one powerhouse company. We do this thing together.

Recap written by Terry

Phyllis prepares to come out of hiding while Summer worries that Kyle will never forgive her for keeping secret the fact that Phyllis is alive while Diane sat in prison.  Summer tells Daniel she risked it all to help their mother, that she is very close to losing everything she ever wanted and that she is the one paying Phyllis’ debt.

Phyllis meets with Michael in Chancellor Park to discuss what her next steps should be before she comes out of hiding.  He tells her she has a lot of making up to do and that she should go on an apology tour to atone for her wrongdoings.  While Phyllis says she is ready to tell Michael the whole story involving Jeremy Stark’s plan to fake Phyllis’ death and his attempt to kill her, she says she needs just to sit in the park for a little while to enjoy fresh air and sunshine.  Michael advises she not wait too long to tell him everything. Moments later, Phyllis tells herself it’s time to finish what she started.

Michael meets with Daniel and Summer and advises they brace themselves, because Phyllis is coming out of hiding.  Summer tells Daniel that Chance informed her prior’s that when Phyllis comes out of hiding, the police will come after Summer.  Michael tells Summer that Phyllis feels responsible for the state of her marriage.

Jack complains to Diane and Billy about Ashley’s leaving Jabot with no conversation and no warning to start her own company with Tucker.  Diane says they’d better ensure company employees have signed non disclosure agreements and no compete clauses.  She explains it is imperative to keep employees happy so they don’t quit and go to work for Ashley and Tucker.  Meanwhile Ashley says she wants the best in the business, and if that means getting staff away from Jabot, so be it.

When Billy asks if Ashley could leave with her patents on Jabot products, Jack says the company attorneys are investigating.  Jack worries that the conflict between Jabot and Ashley’s company could get very ugly, but Billy warns Jack not to let the conflict become personal.  Billy believes that whatever Ashley does with her company, Jabot can do bigger and better.

After having a tense exchange of words with Diane at the Abbott residence, Tucker tells Ashley she is too refined and polished to get down in the dirt in her fight with Diane. He insists that’s what it’s going to take.

Phyllis: Hello, stranger.

Tucker: Hey.

Ashley: What?

Tucker: No, no, no. Right over here.

Ashley: I heard you the first time.

Tucker: So you’re ignoring me.

Ashley: Kind of. I’m trying to get together a list for the recruiter so that when you actually meet with them, you’ll have something to–

Tucker: Yeah. I’m trying to capture the perfect image of you. Look over here.

Ashley: I’m right here. Have at it.

Tucker: Give me something. Oh. Yeah, that’s hot.

Ashley: Great.

Tucker: Come on. Come on.

Ashley: Stop it! You’re the worst.

Tucker: Yeah. And the best thing that ever happened to you.

Ashley: No. Vice versa.

Tucker: All right. We’ll call it a draw. There it is.

Ashley: All right. Let’s call it a draw.

Diane: Ugh! Oh, for the love of god, get a room.

Ashley: Ah.

Daniel: Jack.

Jack: Daniel, how are you?

Daniel: Suddenly feeling optimistic, thank you.

Jack: I’m not sure what I did, but you’re welcome.

Daniel: You’re talking to me after everything my mother did to disrupt your family, so I’ll count that as a blessing.

Jack: You are not responsible for your mother’s actions. And I got enough good things going on in my life. I am not gonna waste my time worrying about what phyllis is up to.

Daniel: I suppose if you fake your murder, you have to deal with the fallout.

Jack: But she stays away and she’s not doing that, right?

Daniel: [ Chuckling ] And the longer she stays away, the worse she’s making things.

Jack: I know this has been very difficult on summer. You are keeping an eye on your sister, aren’t you?

Daniel: You know how she is.

Jack: Oh, she loves to battle. Tells you she has it, and often she does.

Daniel: Sometimes she needs help.

Jack: I feel a whole lot better knowing you’re there when necessary.

Daniel: Doing my best.

Jack: You’re a good man, daniel.

Daniel: I had first-rate role models.

Jack: So other than this ongoing issue, your life is good? Daniel? I’ll take that as a yes.

Daniel: Hm?

Billy: No, I agree with you. It goes without question that ashley should have notified the board of her decision to leave the company before it was leaked to the press. I have not talked to her yet, but I’m sure I’ll learn more in the next few days and I will, uh, I’ll keep you in the loop, okay? All right. Thank you. And just like that. See, that’s what happens when the press and the board members have your cell phone number.

Summer: Oh, I guess you’re gonna have to change it then. Wish every problem had such an easy solution. Hey, could I bounce some ideas off of you?

Billy: All due respect, summer, I’m up to here with ashley’s departure from the company. So whatever it is, if you– if you don’t mind,

Summer: Wait. Seriously, you can’t deal with more than one problem at a time? Billy, do you want an overview of what I’m dealing with right now? I– I think you can spare me five minutes.

Billy: Okay. Sure. What is it?

Summer: Marchetti.

Billy: Kyle’s out. You’re now taking over the ceo chair and you need a new creative director.

Summer: What did chelsea say after I offered her the job?

Billy: I don’t think she’s ready for that step yet.

[ Summer sighing ]

Summer: Any other suggestions?

Billy: What about italy? Is there anybody there that you trust that has similar sensibilities?

Summer: No. Nobody that I would trust in this position.

Billy: Okay. Well, maybe you need to go back there, where it all began. Try and find the right person.

Summer: That’s not a real suggestion. That’s an evasion. Wow, you really must not have time for me.

Billy: Summer, you gotta be kidding, right?

Summer: No. I mean, kyle wants me gone. Maybe you’re doing the whole united front thing and freezing me out. Why not? It’s not like I’m family anymore. Febreze!

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Lily: I didn’t know you were gonna be here. Hello.

Daniel: Esther told me where I could find you.

Lily: Oh, are you stalking me? Is this ’cause of the video conference about the gaming division that I had?

Jack: Judging from the smile on her face, I think you’re about to get some good news.

Daniel: That is not why I wanted to find you. I have my own selfish reasons.

Lily: Okay.

Jack: Okay. I’ll bite. How’s the gaming division?

Lily: [ Laughing ] I think we should order some champagne.

Daniel: Are we celebrating?

Lily: It is official. Omegasphere has caught fire in south america.

Jack: Wow.

Lily: Yep.

Daniel: Okay. Well that– that is great news.

Lily: Yeah.

Jack: That’s fantastic. Hey, congratulations all ’round. Uh, how’s that feel?

Daniel: Um, I don’t know. I’ll– I’ll let you know when I land. This is incredible.

Lily: I know. I mean, I knew it was gonna happen, right? It takes one person to love it. They spread the word and it spreads like wildfire.

Jack: Well, you two clearly have a lot to celebrate. I’ll leave you to it. I wish you the best.

Daniel: Thank you.

Lily: All right. Bye, jack. Well, I’m very happy that current events haven’t damaged your relationship with jack.

Daniel: I suppose he’ll always have a place in his heart for me as his stepson.

Lily: That’s nice. It’s good to have people like that in your life.

Daniel: It is. It is. And, you know, when you find those people, you should let them know how much they mean to you.

Lily: Are– are you talking to me? Have I let something go unsaid?

Daniel: I have.

Ashley: What?

Diane: You know what? And I am sick of your accusations about me and my intentions and my position at jabot. Everything I have, I’ve deserved.

Ashley: [ Chuckling ] Right.

Diane: You know what, ashley? You just hate me because you can’t admit to yourself that you still hate him.

Tucker: Yeah, ashley.

Ashley: She’s right. I hate you. I hate you so much.

Tucker: I hate you too.

Michael: Is this what people on the run do for thrills these days? Hide in plain sight?

Phyllis: Well, I was going stir crazy. Um, I needed a little fresh air and sunshine.

Michael: Oh, you know who else likes fresh air and sunshine in this park? Christine, the da who’s dying to drag you into court and see you wither way behind bars.

Phyllis: Christine. Listen, I can see christine a mile away.

Michael: Well, the police officers are looking for you too. So, if your freedom’s worth anything, stay hidden until you come to your senses.

Phyllis: Let me tell you something. Let me tell you something. All of this hiding in the shadows and sneaking around, it taught me something. I know where I belong.

Michael: Look at me.

[ Michael grunting ] I’ve seen that look in your eyes before. It’s never good.

Phyllis: Daniel texted me. He said that summer and kyle broke up because of my beef with diane.

Michael: I’m sorry to hear that.

Phyllis: Oh, that’s the man of her dreams. All ruined because of diane’s resurrection. But you know what? It’s time for restorative justice.

Michael: What does that mean exactly?

Phyllis: That means I can’t do anything and fix anything hiding under a rock.

Billy: Look, I’m not gonna pretend to know what’s gonna happen between you and my nephew, okay? But even if we’re not family–

Summer: What? We’ll always be friends?

Billy: I was gonna say business partners, but sure, friends works here too. Look, yeah, I told you to go back to italy, but I don’t want you to leave. I’m not trying to banish you.

Summer: Could I get that in writing?

Billy: Get it notarized. Summer, you need to surround yourself with the people who know you best, okay? Before all this mess with phyllis screwed with your confidence. Everyone back in italy that didn’t make the jump that you did, they’re still talking about you. They’re raising a glass to you. Probably sharing the legend of the american girl that saved the company, that saved their jobs, okay? That’s not a small feat.

Summer: What good is it if I can’t even save my own marriage?

Billy: You’re a leader, summer, and you’re a damn good one. Go back to doing what you do best. Find a creative director. Run marchetti like the powerhouse you are. I believe in you. So does everyone else.

Summer: I screwed up, billy.

Billy: Yeah, you did. But you’ll fix it. And trust me, if I can change, so can you. Hi.

Jack: Hey. Got a full house. Anything I need to know? Please tell me now so I don’t have to read it in a press release.

Summer: Just bouncing some ideas for the new creative director at marchetti off of billy.

Jack: Sounds like the wheelhouse of our new chief talent officer. If you need a c-suite employee, diane’s the one to talk to.

Summer: Um, I wanna handle this hire myself.

Jack: Okay. Whatever you need.

Summer: Great. Thanks, jack. Thanks.

Billy: See you.

[ Billy exhaling ] Well, feels like we’re only a few steps away from doomsday. Whole thing’s about to go.

[ Imitates blasting ]

Jack: Feel like a day at the races here? Try spending some quality time at the abbott house.

Billy: Let me guess, ashley and tucker.

Jack: I am trying, billy.

Billy: Yeah.

Jack: If I could harness that strength and patience it takes not to give ashley a piece of my mind every time I see her, I could power the city of chicago. How could you walk away from the company like this? No word, no warning, no conversation. What has she become? Dupixent helps you du more with less asthma.

Daniel: Just a rough cut. Kind of my favorite distraction. But I– I thought you might like to see it.

[ Daniel sighing ] You might wanna say something before this gets real awkward. No, no.

[ Laughing ] Oh, come on. Don’t look at me like that. You’re gonna make me blush. Do you like your birthday gift or not?

Lily: Do I like it? The all-knowing, multi-talented, multitasking queen of everything that grows and business. Is that me?

Daniel: Queen liliana.

Lily: Aw. I’ve never had anyone create an entire universe for me.

Daniel: It’s surprising because you deserve all that and more.

Lily: I am honored. Thank you.

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Lily: [ Chuckling ] Uh, excuse me. My game is on that tablet, so that’s mine now.

Daniel: No, no, no.

Lily: What are you doing?

Daniel: Your gift was that you got to see it.

Lily: I order you. I– I order you to give that back to me.

Daniel: Nice. Yeah. You know, you play your cards right maybe I’ll hire you to do the voiceover for the final product. But until then, queen liliana belongs to me.

Lily: Okay. What do I have to do to get a copy?

Daniel: Well, I thought you’d never ask.

Billy: And it’s been like that all day. Nonstop messages, request for interviews, the whole thing. I mean, I literally had to shut my cell phone off.

Jack: Take it up with our sister.

Billy: Yeah. No, thanks. That’s on you. I don’t know what she’s thinking. I mean, she leaves the family company without notifying the family? Not even a sticky note in the fridge saying, “adios, jabot, I’m outta here. Have fun.”

Jack: She wanted to punish me, billy.

Billy: Is there any way for her to take her patents and run? The way she did last time she tried to undercut the company?

Jack: No, I think we took care of that when we merged the two companies before, but legal’s looking into it just to be sure.

Billy: What is this thing they’re building? How long have they been working on it behind our backs?

Jack: Who knows? Did they buy an existing company or starting from scratch?

Billy: Good questions. No good answers.

Jack: When ashley gets angry, she gets quiet and sneaky. And she is furious right now.

Billy: And she has the perfect partner in tucker. Poster boy for unhinged and unpredictable. You look in his eyes and you know that there’s nothing he won’t do.

Jack: Which means this could get very ugly.

Tucker: Hey.

Ashley: Huh.

Tucker: Look at the happy couple.

[ Ashley mumbling ] What happened to you? Where’d you go? You disappeared the second diane left.

Ashley: She loathes seeing us together.

Tucker: Oh, yeah. Makes her skin crawl.

Ashley: Yeah. I loathe seeing her in my home. I wish she would just go somewhere. I mean, anywhere but here.

Tucker: As much as I would love that for you I don’t see it happening.

Ashley: Why not?

Tucker: Why not? Because she’s got the perfect life now. She’s got a corner office of jabot and the adoration of a powerful man who will give her whatever she wants. She’s here for keeps unless something changes.

Ashley: Well, we were not effective.

Tucker: You’re just too polished and refined to get in the dirt with diane. And that’s where this game needs to be played.

Ashley: Yeah. Actually, there’s only one person that could finish this off once and for all. Phyllis.

Michael: Well, I’ve talked to diane and assorted witnesses, and now it’s time to talk to, um, you, the actual murder victim.

Phyllis: You wanna know everything?

Michael: From the day you met stark to the day he died. Every embarrassing, self-centered, disgusting detail.

Phyllis: Disgusting? Seriously, what do you think I’ve been doing?

Michael: Oh, you are capable of many things, my friend. The majority of them good. Look, why don’t you just give me a timeline and maybe I’ll be able to give you something that will help strengthen your case.

Phyllis: Get your ducks in a row?

Michael: Precisely. But one– one question. Why didn’t you trust me? Come to me when all this started?

Phyllis: It’s complicated. I needed to do this alone. Seriously. And I didn’t think that I had anybody to turn to.

Michael: Me. Always for anything.

Phyllis: Okay. Well, there were things I needed to do alone. I couldn’t involve anybody. But now it’s time to change. And I know I can’t do that without you.

Michael: Change into what, may I ask?

Phyllis: Into a new phyllis. A good phyllis. A– a better, new improved phyllis.

[ Phyllis laughing ]

Michael: You have all my faith.

Phyllis: [ Laughing ] Great. And I can’t do it without you.

Michael: No, you can’T.

Phyllis: I love you.

Michael: I got you, beautiful.

Phyllis: Okay. So… do you wanna know the whole story? Okay. Well, this is the story of how I died.

Trelegy for copd.

Jack: Hey, if you have real solutions for how to mitigate the effects of ashley’s latest move, now’s the time to speak up.

Billy: We need a secret weapon. We need something big. We need to push up the release date. How about the teenage fragrance line? It could be good. We’re what, a month or two away from marketing?

Jack: Yeah. Yeah. That’s feasible.

Billy: Well, ashley and tucker talked about using social media stars in their new venture. So we go bigger, right? Bigger names, bigger celebrities, sponsor concerts, do the whole thing. And for our more established customers, we go classic and iconic. Whatever ashley does, we do bigger and better.

Jack: I’m glad one of us is able to think strategically.

Billy: You can’t take this personal, jack.

Jack: Yeah, that’s exactly what it is though! A basic disrespect for each other and a profound dislike for our respective future spouses.

Billy: That is fine, but we we have a business to run, okay? And as far as these battles, the merchandising and the marketing, I can handle those with my hands tied behind my back. But the hurt feelings, the distrust, the resentment among the soon to be newlyweds, I’m out. That’s all you.

[ Jack sighing ]

Daniel: So the birthday girl wants a copy of the game I’m working on.

Lily: I’m royalty now, so I’m not gonna negotiate.

Daniel: Oh. Well, what will you do if you don’t get your way?

Lily: Psh. I’m gonna, you know, I’m– I’m gonna stop time. Yeah.

Daniel: What would we do with all that time on our hands?

Lily: I don’t know.

[ Laughing ]

Summer: Uh, excuse me. Would it kill you to check your messages?

Daniel: I’m sorry, I was busy. I shut my phone off. Is there an emergency?

Summer: Did you get the messages from michael? He wants to meet with us now. I’m sorry, lily.

Lily: No, no, no. It’s fine. Um, I have to get back to the office, so thank you again.

Daniel: Hey, hey. Before you go… part of your present. Some might say the best part.

Lily: Thank you. And call me. We’ll keep celebrating.

Daniel: It seems like there’s always something to celebrate when you’re around.

Lily: [ Laughing ] Okay. Bye.

Summer: Bye.

Daniel: Right. Okay. Um, what do you think this meeting with michael’s about?

Summer: I don’t know. I’m guessing he talked to mom and maybe he wants to prepare us for the next part when she turns herself in.

Daniel: Look, I know that this whole thing is scary. When you lose a spouse, you feel like you’ve lost a part of yourself, and then it’s you against the world. Every day’s a battle.

Summer: You know what, daniel? I’m fine. And you make a lousy shrink anyway.

Daniel: Well, I mean, you were spinning out earlier.

Summer: My company is going through a major upheaval right now. So, what do you– what do you want from me? It’s– it’s not bad to have emotions. It’s not like I’m running around punching walls or anything. I just wish that I could talk to kyle about all of this. I wish that I could tell him how much I love him, how much our marriage means to me. I just wanna show him that I can be better because I can.

Daniel: I know.

Summer: If he would just let me in, you know, let me love him. Just everything feels wrong when we’re apart, you know? Look, I– I know that I did a bad thing. I know. And I’m– I’m sorry for it, but he hates me. He used to say that we belong together, and now it’s like we’re complete strangers. I just… wish that he would let me fix it. I don’t think I’m gonna get another chance though.

Phyllis: Again with your watch. My goodness. Are you meeting lauren?

Michael: I’m meeting your children.

Phyllis: Oh, you are?

Michael: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: Really? Can I go? I’ll hide. They won’t even know I’m there.

Michael: Phyllis, stop. It’s only sheer luck that’s kept you out of police custody.

Phyllis: Yeah. Someone up there likes me.

[ Clicks tongue ]

[ Chuckling ] We’re like this. You like me too. You like me too. You’re a good friend, michael.

Michael: I’m the best friend. Even if I weren’t your attorney, all your secrets would be safe with me.

Phyllis: Just the ones you know about.

Michael: Including the fact that you’re nervous about coming home and not just about the charges against you.

Phyllis: Nope.

Michael: You have got a lot of making up to do. Go on an apology tour. Do good works.

Phyllis: Ugh!

Michael: Yeah. Expect nothing, but be grateful for every little bit of forgiveness you get. But toy with my emotions, I’m your friend. I’m your buddy. I’m used to it. But when it comes to your family and the people who trust you…

Phyllis: Well, when it comes to the people who trust me and my family, of course, I owe them an apology and I will tell them everything that happened the night I died, and when jeremy stark tried to finish the job.

Michael: You ready?

Phyllis: Yeah. I mean, I just, um, I wanna just sit here for a bit, you know, and just breathe the air and feel the sunshine, you know, before the wrecking ball sets in.

Michael: The situation will be easier once you face it. You want more time, I’ll give you more time, but even my patience is waning.

Phyllis: Yeah. I just– I just wanna sit here for a bit, you know, and relax. I– I’ll– I’ll call you when I’m– I’m ready to get rid of my disguise.

Michael: Don’t make me wait too long.

Diane: Phyllis!

[ Diane scoffing ]

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

Diane: Wow! You’re not even trying to hide anymore.

Phyllis: Diane, I was just–

Diane: Why, why, why? Trying to have a few minutes of normalcy before your bestie holds your hand all the way to jail? That’s a lot more than I got. I was dragged away from your phony memorial so fast, I didn’t even have time to say goodbye to jack and kyle.

Phyllis: You survived.

Diane: You know what? I should call the police right now and have them take you away. So why don’t you say your goodbyes, phyllis? Who first? Michael and lauren who defended you even though you didn’t deserve it? Or what about daniel, who will be so relieved not to have your drama in his life? Or– or maybe summer. How could you say anything to her after your actions have ruined her life?

Phyllis: Listen, I will fix this. I will make amends to my children.

Diane: No, not to them. And not to jack.

Phyllis: Jack?

Diane: Yeah.

Phyllis: You know what? He will open his eyes to you because somebody will show how dangerous you are. I just wasn’t able to do it.

Diane: No, you sure weren’T.

[ Chuckling ] You know, what a disappointing end for you. No family, no friends, no witnesses. If you disappeared right now, people would just think you pulled a phyllis and ran away like the coward you are.

[ Phyllis sighing ]

Billy: That sounds great. Just run it by pr, please. Thank you. Well, there’s our newest hire, our chief talent officer. What do you think about ashley’s betrayal? Because let’s call it what it is, right?

Diane: Well, since I’m the reason that ashley’s gone into overdrive, I took the liberty of issuing directives to hr and legal.

Billy: Busy day for the corporate lawyers. I tell you that much.

Jack: They’re well paid.

Diane: It is imperative that we shore up our team. We need to make sure everybody has signed non-disclosures and non-competes. If they’re not satisfied, we make them that way. If they’re already happy, we make them happier. Our goal is to make sure that no one flips and joinsof fools.

Jack: It’s all right. I appreciate the loyalty.

Billy: Like I said, jack, diane and I can handle it until you get caught up. But we can only go so far without you ad infinitum, right? What doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger. It’s gonna hurt. There’s gonna be some growing pains, but we take a pill and we move on. And with that, excuse me, you two need to talk.

Diane: Okay.

Jack: Why is our happiness such a threat to almost everyone I know and love?

Summer: No sign of michael. Has he sent you any more messages?

Daniel: Like behind your back?

Summer: Uh, I’m not being paranoid. Chance told me that the minute that they find mom, they’re gonna come after me. So, yes, I’m worried with good reason.

Daniel: Well, don’t be mad at me. You let her put you in this position.

Summer: I was put in this position the day that I was born. I mean, how do you– how do you do it? You just stop being her child. How– how do you not care what happens to our mom?

Daniel: Oh, I care. I do care. I care within certain boundaries.

Summer: You know what? Yes. I helped her without hesitation. You wanna know why? Because she would’ve done the same thing for me and for you. Daniel, we turned our backs on her before. Before this half brain plan that she hatched with stark. And look at how that turned out.

Daniel: I know. I wasn’t there.

Summer: No, you weren’t there for me and you never are.

[ Summer exhaling ] I have risked it all for mom. I’m this close to losing everything that I have ever wanted in life. I’m the one that’s paying the price for her death. You wonder why I’m spinning out?

Phyllis: “To summer, daniel, michael, lauren, all my family and friends, and you know who you are. This time away has not been easy and you are the ones who have suffered. Listen, I apologize for that. I’ve made mistakes, but I’m learning from them. Um, I’m turning it around, making changes. And it’s– it’s time I realize that I’m defeated. There’s no way I’ll get my life back or have any peace. I guess I need to face it. Diane won.” Feeling sluggish or weighed down?

Summer: Michael, what’s the news? How’s our mom?

Michael: Brace yourselves. I think she’s ready for her comeback.

Diane: I say let ashley and tucker spread their misery. Who cares? Who cares? We have a wedding to plan. I have a fantastic new job. And I am not going to let anything overshadow that.

Jack: Wow. Look how good you are at turning things around.

Diane: Mm. Well, I’ve eaten prison pizza. I can survive anything the two of them dish out. And so can jabot. We’re strong. And competition only makes us stronger, especially when it comes from someone who knows our weaknesses. We stand guard.

Jack: I like seeing this side of you.

[ Diane laughing ] Marry me now.

Diane: What?

Jack: Yeah. I mean it. Tell me what you want and let me make it all come true.

Diane: It doesn’t matter where or when. All I want is to be your wife. Aw.

Ashley: You know, when I think about what I heard that phyllis had died, I mean, completely blew my mind. As annoying as I’ve always found her, thinking of the world without phyllis in it was just insane to me and I’m so glad I was right.

Tucker: Still missing in action though.

Ashley: Yeah. She can’t stay away forever.

Tucker: Yeah. But even if she comes back, she’ll be so busy fighting the charges against her, she won’t have time to rid genoa city of diane.

Ashley: Is there a plan going on in there? What, huh?

Tucker: Well, we could certainly ramp up the pressure on diane. A few more of those, uh, public displays of affection. A little more intense. Um, constant chatter about our new venture. Connubial bliss.

Ashley: Yeah. We already tried that, tucker.

Tucker: Ah, hot tub.

Ashley: What? You wanna drown her?

Tucker: No, no. I wanna sit naked in it with you while we have a constant stream of whatever music she detests, uh, playing loudly. Uh, while we, uh, laugh obnoxiously and smoke cheap cigars, the aroma of which will waft into her sanctum sanctorum. Doesn’t that sound nice? I can hardly wait to get started. It’ll be my wedding gift to you, my dear.

Ashley: What a glorious gift. Thank you so much. But maybe we should start just a little smaller, something you can actually guarantee, like the headhunter that we need. I want the best in the business. And if we have to go after somebody from jabot, so be it. If you can make that happen, I’ll be the happiest bride in town.

Tucker: Ah, how lucky would I be to be the guy that– to make you the happiest bride in town. Ugh!

Ashley: What?

Tucker: Thanks very much. You’ve made me late. I’m so mesmerized by you, I lose track of time.

Ashley: Yeah. Flattery will get you everywhere.

Tucker: Yeah. Well, wait ’til you hear me waxing poetic about you and smooth jazz while I sit naked in a hot tub.

Ashley: I like the naked part.

Tucker: Wait ’til tonight.

Ashley: Bye.

Tucker: Bye. Overactive bladder? I’ve been there.

Jack: I mean it. I have never wanted to just run away more than I do right now.

Diane: Where would you go?

Jack: Anywhere with you. I just– I don’t wanna stay here where people can’t be happy that we are happy.

Diane: So where would we go?

Jack: Private islands, places you’ve never dreamed of, the south pacific. We could build a lifetime of memories in the sand.

Diane: We can’t do that.

Jack: Sure we can. Why not?

Diane: Because. Anyway, running jabot is excitement enough. Jack, all I want is you.

Jack: You have me. Any time zone, any hemisphere, any climate.

Diane: Sweep me off my feet, why don’t you?

Jack: I have waited for this part for a long, long time. I get the girl and I get to ride off on the sunset with her.

Diane: You are irresistible.

Jack: It’s my curse.

[ Diane laughing ] What do you say? Will you come with me? Will you be my girl?

Phyllis: Defeated? Diane won? No. What are you doing? Who am I? No, phyllis. Delete, delete, delete, delete, delete. Diane won. Uh-uh. No more hiding. This is done. I’m coming out of hiding. Ready or not, here I come, guys. And this time, guess what? I’m gonna finish what I started.

Daniel: Have you managed to work out some kind of deal with the da?

Michael: Not formally. Turning herself in now was phyllis’s idea.

Summer: Why now?

Michael: You. She feels guilty and not about stark. That was undeniably self-defense. She feels responsible for the state of your marriage. She wants to help. But with any luck, I’ll be able to prove that phyllis was the victim of coercive control. Stark manipulated her into fleshing out his plans to get revenge on diane and to get his hands on phyllis’s fortune.

Daniel: And how will you do that?

Michael: Carson, the emt, he dealt with stark. He knew what a psycho he was. He knew exactly how far that man would go.

Daniel: Great. Where is he?

Michael: That’s a good question. Even victor hasn’t had any luck yet.

Summer: And I mean, even if we do find him, it’s gonna be difficult to convince him to come forward because of the charges that he might be facing for the part that he played.

Michael: It’s a tall order.

Summer: We have to try. This is mom that we’re talking about. We need to fight for her the way that she would for any of us. No one is untouchable. We will find carson. Somehow. We have to.

Sally: Hot sauce! You do love me.

Nick: Yes. I know how you get when you run out, so I brought you a few others to try.

Sally: Oh, do not get between a girl and her scoville units. “Made with devil’s tongue and habanero peppers.” Yeah, baby. You’re awesome. Thank you.

Nick: You’re welcome. So, how was your meeting with chloe?

Sally: It was actually really uplifting.

Nick: Yeah?

Sally: Yeah. We talked about desks. And work ergonomics. And I totally got out of my head space for a change, it was really great.

Ashley: Okay, I wanna see angry jack again. You’re upset with your sister. Do it again. For her.

Tucker: This is an outrage! Have you no shame? How could you think of doing this to us? To me! Your brother.

Ashley: Okay. Okay, you are weirdly good at this. It’s– it’s a little disturbing.

Tucker: I don’t know. I think it needs a little work.

Chelsea: Well, thanks for breakfast. This is a nice change of pace from my usual at crimson lights.

Billy: But you’d like a change of surroundings, you know. It’s not as easy to do dinner with you wanting to spend as much time as possible with connor, but now that he’s at sports camp, I’ll get you to myself.

Chelsea: Yeah, and I get to have fancy waffles guilt-free.

********************

Summer: Chelsea. I am glad to see you. You’re actually on my to-do list for today.

Billy: So much for a quiet breakfast. Aren’t you in high demand?

Chelsea: Well, I– I can’t imagine why I’d be on your checklist.

Summer: Well, I wanted to follow up on my brilliant idea from a few months ago for you to come and work with me at Marchetti. The timing couldn’t be better.

Daniel: Hold on. Are you trying to poach my star employee? Are you stealing talent from your own brother?

Audra: Thank you so much. No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. That really was the head of Crawford Pictures. I just signed an exclusive deal with them for Newman media.

Lily: Really?

Audra: It’s all right. You can say it. It’s okay to be impressed.

Lily: Oh, no. [ Laughing ] No, no, I’m not impressed. I’m just surprised that nate would hand off such an important deal for you to seal. I mean, he was so desperate to be in charge.

Audra: I guess you haven’t heard the good news yet. I’m running newman media now.

********************

Lily: Well, I mean, I knew you were a shark, but I didn’t think that you would turn your back on Nate so quickly. I mean, especially after he took such a huge risk hiring you. So, how did you pull it off this time?

Audra: Well, this wasn’t some kind of backstabbing move. I scored the promotion completely on my own merit.

[ Lily scoffing ]

Lily: I find that really hard to believe.

Audra: Of course you think the worst of me.

Lily: Oh, Nate, hello. Perfect timing. I just heard about how your coo has sunk her fangs into your job. That’s what you get when you swim with sharks, so.

Nate: I’m not sure you have the whole story here.

Audra: Yeah, she didn’t even give me a chance to explain. She couldn’t wait to go on the attack

Nick: There you go. Good design, something you’re passionate about. What better way to get back in the swing of things?

Sally: Yeah. Little by little.

Nick: Whatever it takes.

Sally: Okay. Come on. It’s your turn now. You mentioned something about a meeting with victor. What’s that about?

Nick: My dad offered me a job.

Sally: Doing what?

Nick: Working with adam.

Kyle: Gerard, it’s kyle abbott. I’d like to have some flowers delivered. No. No, not to marchetti. These are for an audra charles. She’s staying at the athletic club. Uh, I’m thinking something a little wild, gorgeous, unique. That sounds good. And the note, um… from one overachiever to another. Thanks for showing me your moves. No name. She’ll know. Oh, oh, oh, gerard, um, I’d like some earrings as well. I’m thinking diamonds.

Audra: You seem very pleased about something.

Kyle: I am if you are.

Tucker: For immediate release.

Ashley: We’re toasting?

Tucker: Yes. To us, to new business venture and to that provocative bit of pr that just went out.

Ashley: To our joint success.

Tucker: And then some.

[ Diane sighing ]

Jack: Thank you.

Diane: Yeah. I feel so badly for kyle. I’m afraid that both he and summer are in for some tough times.

[ Phone chiming ]

Jack: Are you kidding me? I don’t believe this. Four delicious pieces of chocolate.

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Ashley: Jack’s phone should be pinging any second with our press release.

Tucker: You’re gleeful.

Ashley: I can’t help it. I wish I could see his face when he finds out that we’ve started our own company. It’s gonna make his head explode.

Tucker: Now that I would like to see.

Ashley: He deserves it. A taste of his own medicine. I just hope it’s as traumatic for him as having diane shoved down my throat has been for me.

Tucker: Well, you have been in a righteous fury for months, so it’s gonna take jack some catching up before he joins you in the anger stage.

Ashley: The anger stage?

Tucker: Yeah, you know, the kubler-ross. The five stages of grief?

Ashley: Oh.

Tucker: Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance.

Ashley: Well, jack is definitely in denial, thinking that diane is capable of change.

Tucker: Yeah. And when he finds out we’re teaming up, he’ll start on a whole new sequence of trauma.

Ashley: Why? Why? You think the press release is going to trigger him into the anger phase?

Tucker: Oh, absolutely. I can already hear it. Ashley, that you would– you would– that you would– uh– uh– betray our family for this– this flim-flam man. This charlatan. It’s an outrage. You’ve gone too far.

Jack: Tucker and ashley in business together? That’s outrageous.

Diane: What? The two powerhouses of jabot and mccall unlimited are forming an iconic new health and beauty company, with close ties to the creme de la creme of today’s social media superstar influencers…” oh, this can’t possibly be real.

Jack: I need to make a call.

Kyle: Iced tea, please. Do you want anything?

Audra: I’m good.

Kyle: Thanks. Mm. They look great on you.

Audra: My new earrings?

Kyle: Just like I knew they would.

Audra: Thank you for the compliment. And for my earrings. They’re exquisite, by the way. Although, they’re ridiculously extravagant.

Kyle: I figured, why the hell not?

Audra: And the flowers they were gorgeous as well.

Kyle: Glad you liked them.

Audra: Even though I received them in front of your wife. Not the most cautious move in the world, kyle. You’re not the least bit worried I might have told summer who sent me that bouquet?

Kyle: Should I be?

Audra: Or was that the plan all along? To make her jealous?

Kyle: Summer didn’t factor into this at all.

Audra: Mm-hmm. For some reason, I believe you.

Kyle: Well, you said you might call me. Or you might not. I figured if you didn’t call, then the flowers would be a fond farewell. But if you did call, the earrings would be a sparkly, “hello, again.”

Sally: Ugh! Your father is unbelievable! First, he hands adam a company, then he won’t even let him run it? And what? Does he actually think he’s helping, or– or is he just trying to pick a fight? I’m sorry. I just find that man absolutely infuriating.

Nick: You’re not the only one who feels like that.

Sally: I mean, it was one thing when he tried to bribe me into handing over my child, but I assumed maybe this is just a test, so I tried to let it roll off my back. But now here he is again, trying to suck you into his drama with adam and stir the pot. Because I guarantee you, adam is not going to want you to work with him because he has way too much pride and he’s way too selfish to share in any of the glory. But, for some reason, he makes people want to help him and fix him, but it can’t be done. So, why even try?

Sharon: Double shot?

Adam: Uh, make it three.

Sharon: Okay. Whipped cream?

Adam: It’s not really a whipped cream kind of day.

Sharon: No whipped cream then, coming right up. So… you got any plans for the weekend?

Adam: Uh, just work.

Sharon: Well, that kind of defeats the purpose, doesn’t it?

Adam: What about you?

Sharon: Yeah, tessa and mariah and I are going to aria to the park. It will be her first picnic.

Adam: Hm. Nice.

Sharon: Do you have any plans for summer? Maybe a trip with connor? Has he been camping? I bet you he would love that.

Adam: Connor’s at sports camp at walnut grove right now. He’s very busy. And I’m throwing myself into things, as well.

Sharon: What things?

Adam: Thank you. Keep the change.

Sharon: Adam… lactaid is 100% real milk,

Nick: I mean, I knew you’d have something to say about my dad’s offer, but I didn’t think you’d be this upset about it and what were you saying about fixing adam? Was that in the letter that he wrote to you? Did you finally read it?

Sally: You know, adam is irrelevant. He’s not in my life anymore and I would prefer if you did not deal with him either. I’m sorry, I know he’s your brother. I did not mean to make demands. That’s not at all how I wanted this to come out.

Nick: Your feelings are raw. It’s okay. I get it. I don’t like my dad’s suggestion either. But my dad’s really afraid that adam’s gonna start spiraling again. He can go to some dark places, as I’m sure you know.

Sally: Yeah. I’m not really the right person to discuss this with. Adam is trouble, and he’s only going to get worse. And I meant it when I said I do not want this guy a part of my life anymore.

Audra: Aren’t you the charmer?

Kyle: I assumed if I’d overstepped, you would have told me off right away, but you’re wearing the earrings, so…

Audra: Well, sparkly happens to be my favorite color. I appreciate pretty things. They make me happy. You know, and those flowers you sent, just breathtaking. You know, they really brighten up my suite. You should come up and see them.

Kyle: Yeah, I think I’d like to see them.

Audra: You know, I really admire your attitude, not giving a damn who might see us together. It’s refreshing.

Kyle: I have nothing to hide.

Audra: Well, that’s you. I prefer to keep my personal life personal. I don’t need the hotel staff and everyone else here knowing my business.

Kyle: Is that because you want to keep your options open? Or you don’t want anyone to think you’re slacking off when there’s work to be done?

Audra: It doesn’t matter why. It’s just the way it is.

Kyle: I promise not to act suspicious. I’ll follow you shortly.

Jack: No, you’ve been very helpful, jim, thanks. Unbelievable.

Diane: Who did you call?

Jack: A buddy of mine at the chronicle. He works at the business desk. Apparently, it’s legit.

Diane: I don’t understand this. The last we knew, ashley was trying to line up board members to stage a coup.

>>Jack: Yeah, in the meantime, they have been building a company. Out of thin air. How did it even get this far?

Diane: Well, I can’t help but feel somewhat responsible.

Jack: No.

Diane: This whole rift started when you and I got back together. And I have– I have tried to be civil with ashley and to ignore her constant attacks, but I’m– I’m going to admit, there are times when I’ve fought back.

Jack: Listen to me. You are not to blame for this. There have been times in ashley’s life where she has done things that are mystifying to me. This is one of them.

Diane: But jack, the timing–

Jack: Ashley and I worked very hard to get things back to a good place after our last falling out. It almost didn’t happen, but she folded her company back into jabot. No, this is not your doing. This is tucker mccall’s doing. And I am through putting up with it. And him.

Ashley: No, it’s pretty good. So, next level? Next stage?

Tucker: Bargaining.

Ashley: Bargaining.

Tucker: I assume that’s right around the corner. He’ll– he’ll offer you an upgraded title or maybe a big bonus to try to get you to stay. Maybe he’ll fire billy, free up some space. Give you the old man’s room.

Ashley: My father’s office. Oh, he’d have to be very desperate to do something like that.

Tucker: Or worried.

Ashley: Yeah, as worried as I’ve been. About diane and what she could do to jabot if she gets enough power.

Tucker: Ah. Speak of the devils. I was stuck.

Kyle: Oof. Business casual takes on a whole new meaning.

Audra: Well, you know, I thought you could see the earrings better this way. You know? No distractions.

Ashley: Well, hello there. Are you here to congratulate us on our new announcement?

Jack: I want to speak to tucker.

Ashley: You know I make my own decisions, jackie. And if you’ve got a problem with my plans, you can talk to me and not my business partner.

Tucker: Don’t forget, your fiance.

Ashley: Oh, yes, my fiance. So here I am, speak to me. Right here, right now. This very moment.

Jack: You are so predictable. As soon as you can’t get your own way, you pick up your toys and leave us all hanging.

Ashley: Is that your really sweet way of telling me that you’re gonna miss me?

Jack: I’m not gonna have this conversation with you.

Ashley: Oh, really?

Tucker: All right. I’ll have this conversation with you, jack. I am curious to know what my future brother-in-law has to say about this.

Diane: Are you sure you want to do this, ashley? Go to war against your brother just because you don’t like me? Oh, come on, what will it take to end this?

Ashley: It sure didn’t take long to get to the bargaining stage.

Nick: Nobody asked what happened that night. But adam, honestly, I’m really glad that you were there to do whatever you could.

Adam: You mean take a kick in the teeth so my big brother can shine?

Nick: Here we go.

Adam: No, really. I would really like to know how that feels. To be the guy in the spotlight when the credits roll. You know, saved his family from a lunatic. And what does nick do on his victory lap? He swoops in to fix what adam couldn’T. I mean, you’re a hero. And I just get shoved back in the corner where I’m expected to stay until I’m needed.

Nick: That night took its toll on all of us.

Adam: Yeah, but you came out of that store smelling like a rose, even though I did everything right. It all fell apart. How does that happen, nick? No, really, I would like to know because I just– I really want to get this right for next time. And we both know there’s going to be a next time. Someone’s gonna need me to do their dirty work, the stuff that they just don’t have the stomach for, you know, the unspeakable stuff. The decisions that nobody ever wants to make.

Nick: It was an awful night for everybody.

Adam: Yeah. Well, it was worse for some.

Nick: And just so you know, I have told sally that she needs to find some way to forgive you, for something that’s not your fault. But this is up to sally, all right? Wherever this goes from here is completely up to her. Now, she has decided that because the baby is sadly no longer here, there is nothing left between the two of you. So, if you ever cared about her, then you will respect that and stay away from her.

Nick: You know, why don’t you tell me about your meeting with chloe? Let’s talk about business or something.

Sally: I just can’t, nick.

Nick: You can’t what?

Sally: I’m just really tired, okay? I– I– I can’t talk anymore. I hit a wall or something. I just really need to rest.

Nick: All right. So what do you want to do? Do you want to, uh, watch a movie or something? Maybe some mindless comedy? How about that nature show that you love so much, with the british dude with the soothing voice?

Sally: Yeah, maybe another time.

Nick: All right, um, we could–

Sally: Look, I just need some space, nick. I– I don’t know if it’s leftover hormones or the fact that I haven’t really slept in days, but I am on a hair trigger all of a sudden and I really do not want to say something to hurt you. Or to hurt us. So, please, can you just go?

Nick: Yeah, of course.

Sally: Nick. I can tell you’re trying. And I really appreciate that.

Nick: Feel better.

[Music playing] Subject 1: Cancer is a long journey.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

What can you do

with sensitive skin?

Kyle: I feel like I’m 20 again, back in new york.

Audra: You can be a bad boy anywhere.

Kyle: I pretty much was.

Audra: And now, you’re all tamed and domesticated.

Kyle: Oh, no, no, no. That’s not what you were saying five minutes ago.

Audra: True.

[ Audra sighing ] You know, feels like I had to give up this big part of myself to become successful. Always putting in the hours, paying your dues. No time to be playful or spontaneous.

Kyle: Then, before you know it, you have a family and responsibilities.

Audra: Not in here. Here, we can be carefree.

Kyle: Oh, but until the next meeting, the next spreadsheet.

Audra: That’s when you don’t love your job. When you do, it’s magic.

Kyle: You really like it at newman, don’t you?

Audra: I can’t remember the last time I was this excited to go in the office in the morning.

Kyle: I worked there, learned a lot. In terms of a job, it was valuable, but… as far as the newmans themselves, watch out. It’s hard to trust any of ’em.

Audra: Look, I understand there’s no love lost there, but I’m running newman media, with all the autonomy I could ever want and I need a right-hand man. Interested?

Nick: So, I guess you didn’t decide to sell off kirsten’s company and retire to a tropical island just yet?

Sharon: No. The idea is to use it for as much good and as many people as possible. So, no island for me.

Nick: All right. Got it.

Sharon: Your usual?

Nick: You know what? Let’s get crazy. Instead of regular lemonade, why don’t you put a little raspberry syrup in it?

Sharon: Ooh. Good choice.

Nick: Yeah, let’s go.

Sharon: So, how’s sally? Everything okay?

Nick: Yeah, not so much.

Sharon: Oh.

Nick: I managed to upset her.

Sharon: Wow, I’m sorry. What happened?

Nick: Instead of doing what victoria wants me to do, which is take some time off. Dad thinks it would be a perfect time for me to go and help adam.

Sharon: Help him at mccall?

Nick: Yeah, or a better way to describe it would be to insert myself someplace where I know I’m not wanted.

Sharon: Why?

Nick: Dad thinks that adam’s gonna channel his pain from sally and losing the baby into some war with the family. He thinks he’s going to go after newman media and victoria.

Sharon: Do you think that victor’s right?

Nick: Adam is not hiding his true intentions regarding newman media. He thinks he built up that company and he wants it back. And vic’s like, “bring it on.” So, dad thinks there needs to be some buffer or there’s going to be complete chaos.

Sharon: So, what did you say to victor?

Nick: I told him I’d think about it. Then, I made the mistake of bringing it up to sally and it really set her off.

Sharon: Mm. I’m sorry.

Nick: Yeah. Thank you. She just doesn’t think adam deserves any help and she’s blown away that I’m even considering it.

Sharon: Well, I haven’t spoken with sally directly, but I would imagine she’s struggling and I feel for her. She’s probably trying to find her equilibrium after a trauma and that’s hard.

Nick: So, what’s your take? You think I should work with adam?

Jack: If you actually have some genuine affection for ashley, you will call off this foolishness. Forget the wedding. Forget the new company. Don’t you see you are dragging her away from a family company she loves?

Tucker: You’ve really lost your perspective, jack. Jabot is just that. It’s just a company. Nothing more. It’s a profit-and-loss sheet. And it was never john abbott’s heart and soul. Family was, right? So if you want to honor your father, wish your sister well. Toast her new beginning and embrace her impending marriage because that’s what she wants.

Jack: Wow, you can still spin it with the best of ’em, can’t you? You gave up your company, so ashley should give up hers. You selfish son of a bitch. You want everybody else’s life to be as empty and meaningless as yours.

Diane: Okay, sure, I’m bargaining. Whatever you want to call it. I’ll do whatever I can to make jack’s life easier. So, what will it take?

Ashley: Well, a week ago, I would have said just leave, you know. Dump jack and get out of dodge. But now I actually want to pursue this.

Diane: Oh, please.

Ashley: It’s only a matter of time before you do something stupid that undermines my father’s company. Meanwhile, tucker and I will be nurturing our company. Watching it grow and flourish, while jabot fails and flounders because of you. And then we will be there to lend a helping hand.

Diane: You can’t be serious.

Ashley: I am serious, yeah. And then jack will cut you loose because he’ll realize you are the reason why jabot is failing. It will be too late, but you know, at least it’ll happen. And he won’t want to accept our help, but he will remember that our father’s company and our family is the most important thing, diane. And see, you’re never gonna be a true member of our family. You will never be an abbott. Not ever. For as long as you live. For copd, ask your doctor about breztri.

Sharon: The only ones who can decide if it makes sense for you and adam to work together is you and adam. I mean, would he even want that? Did victor ask?

Nick: Didn’t sound like it.

Sharon: Figures.

Nick: I know adam has been emphatic about turning things around on his own. You know, he really wants to turn mccall unlimited into a media powerhouse. Dad keeps offering him advice, but adam just keeps batting it away.

Sharon: Well, if that’s the case, what could you hope to accomplish by working side-by-side with him?

Nick: Keep the peace? Maybe prevent adam from making any bad decisions?

Sharon: If he would be open to that kind of influence. Do you think that adam might take this as a– a sign of lack of faith from victor? Imagine how much that would hurt him.

Nick: Look, I know adam already thinks dad pulled a bait-and-switch. You know, he gave him this conglomerate, but he’s second-guessing everything he’s doing. If you throw me into the mix, as paranoid as adam is, he’s probably gonna think that was what dad’s plan was all along. He might even think dad planted me there as a spy so I can report back on his activities.

Sharon: Sounds like you have quite a few reasons why it simply won’t work.

Nick: Yeah, I mean, it’s a lot of red flags.

Sharon: But you want to do it.

Audra: You have so much to offer newman media, okay? And I need a strong second-in-command, and you have the perfect skill set. You know, finance, operations, so I can concentrate on acquisitions and the creative side of things. Look, I guarantee you, it will be a lot more fun than working in fashion.

Kyle: Not as narrowly focused.

Audra: Exactly. And here’s the kicker. Adam newman is looking to use mccall as a weapon to come after us.

Kyle: You’re kidding me.

Audra: Look, I used to work with tucker, okay. So I know exactly what resources adam can bring to bear. If he can miraculously make a go of it, then newman media might be in peril. So, we need to swing first and swing fast. And I think you’re the perfect man for the job.

Kyle: Well, adam isn’t my favorite person. I like the idea of crushing his plan.

Audra: Then say yes.

[ Kyle sighing ] Why’re you hesitating?

Kyle: For one, my family.

Jack: If you had half as much influence over ashley as you want everyone to think, you would do something about this unhealthy fixation she has on diane.

Tucker: You want to know what I find fascinating, jack? So, dina leaves the family, right? Diane does too, although in a much more gruesome fashion. And just as dina came back–

Jack: I don’t want to hear my mother’s name out of your mouth again. This is about you manipulating my sister.

Tucker: Come on. You don’t actually believe that. She’s so tough and I think that you’re just scared to go toe-to-toe with her. That’s why you out here coming after me. And we both know, she’s just gonna do whatever the hell she wants anyway. Okay? Just admit it. ‘Cause the sooner you do, the sooner you’ll be on your journey to acceptance. Martial arts is my passion.

Nick: I don’t know what I’m thinking yet. But I do know I want your input instead of you dodging the question.

Sharon: Well, like I always say, there are pros and cons to every situation.

Nick: See, there we go. Come on.

Sharon: I suspect you already know what my advice would be.

Nick: Yeah, you think I should do it? Because adam’s grieving. And because he’s my brother. And when he’s like this, he’s a powder keg waiting to explode. So, even if I don’t do it for his sake, I should do it so I can prevent anyone else from becoming collateral damage.

Sharon: So what will you do?

[ Adam sighing ]

[ Sally sighing ]

[ Sally sighing ]

Adam: I don’t want the darkness to win. I want to believe that there can be healing. And I don’t know, maybe it’s ava’s spirit that’s making me write this letter. She knows that we’ve suffered her loss together. And just as creating her bound us here on earth, losing her binds us for eternity. But I want to be in your life, in the here and now, to support you through this. I’ll be waiting downstairs until noon if you want to talk. Please, don’t let this be goodbye. Adam.

[ Sally sighing ]

Audra: Listen, I’m happy in whatever role your sister deems best for me. And I’m ready to take you down in a corporate battle, if that’s what you’re determined you’ll have.

Adam: Good to know.

Audra: Hm. Well, it’s past noon. I think you’ve been stood up by whoever you’re waiting for.

Adam: You know, you have made a big mistake underestimating me and I hope you get ready for the biggest battle of your life.

Diane: Well, ashley’s in rare form today.

Jack: You shouldn’t have to put up with that.

Diane: Yeah, let’s just go somewhere else, okay?

Ashley: So diane tried her hand at bargaining. She really sucks at it.

Tucker: Yeah and the news hit jack pretty hard.

Ashley: Yeah?

Tucker: It would appear that he’s going to be reaching the depression stage in record time.

Ashley: Oh, boy. You know what? This celebration has gone even better than I was hoping for. Come here.

Audra: You know, maybe it’s time you broke away from the family, the family business. You know, grabbed some freedom. It’s so much easier and cleaner when you go after what you want when you want it. And to hell with expectations.

Kyle: That’s quite an offer. I’m intrigued. Newman media’s going places, that’s for sure. But uh, it’s not really a decision I can make on the spur of the moment.

Audra: Hm. It’d be a lot more palatable than working with your estranged wife.

Kyle: Do you know what I would like to talk about?

Audra: What?

Announcer: Next week on the young and the restless…

Tucker: That is a secret weapon. You can also consider it your wedding gift.

Adam: Why in a million years would you think it’s a good idea for the two of us to partner up?

Summer: What’s the news? How’s our mom?

Michael: Brace yourselves. I think she’s ready for her comeback.

Audra: Good morning, mr. Newman.

Victor: Audra, good morning.

Audra: Morning.

Victor: Please have a seat.

Audra: Thank you.

Victor: Thank you for coming.

Audra: How can I refuse?

Victor: Well, it was an invitation, not a command, you know.

Audra: Well, when victor newman invites you to breakfast, you show up. Especially when it’s your first day in a new role at newman media.

Victor: I hope I’m not keeping you from more important things.

Audra: How impossible. You’re not just the founder of the company. You’re an inspiration and it’s an honor to have this one on one with you.

Victor: Thank you.

Audra: Um, I’m probably embarrassing myself. I’m– I’m sure you’ve had plenty of yes men and women buttering you up over the years, right?

Victor: There is nothing wrong with flattery, as long as it is genuine, authentic.

Audra: Of course. Well, I– I’m sure you didn’t invite me here to test my ability to praise you. Uh, so this must be about my new job at newman media.

Victor: Mm-hmm. I just want you to know, audra, that newman enterprises is more than just a business to me. It’s family, it’s my lifeblood. Therefore, I don’t like certain lines to be crossed.

Audra: You think a line has been crossed?

Victor: I’ve become aware that you and a certain member of my family have become acquainted. And I asked you to come here to give you a serious warning.

[ Sally sighing ]

Chelsea: Well, thanks for breakfast. This is a nice change of pace from my usual at crimson lights.

Billy: But you’d like a change of surroundings, you know. It’s not as easy to do dinner with you wanting to spend as much time as possible with connor, but now that he’s at sports camp, I’ll get you to myself.

Chelsea: Yeah, and I get to have fancy waffles guilt-free.

Billy: Mm-hmm.

Daniel: Chelsea. Uh, sorry to interrupt.

Billy: Hey.

Daniel: Glad I ran into you. I actually left you a message.

Chelsea: Oh, ah, you know, my phone is off. Is everything okay?

Daniel: No, everything’s great. I just wanted to share the good news about omegasphere.

Chelsea: Well, I– I heard that the numbers from my game are climbing, but slowly.

Daniel: They are building every day. That’s the key. It means that the game is starting to take off. And even better, there’s been a ton of great reviews from the gaming press and bloggers.

Chelsea: Really? I haven’t seen those.

Daniel: We’ll have pr send over the links. The buzz has been good.

Billy: That’s good. That’s great. Congratulations to you both.

Sally: Ugh. What now?

[ Knock on door ] How many times have I asked you to leave me alone? Please, just go away.

Nick: Is that any way to talk to your boyfriend?

Sally: I am so sorry. I did not know it was you. You got here really fast.

Nick: You thought it was adam?

Sally: Well, he won’t give up.

Nick: What’s he want now?

Sally: I don’t know. But it seems the more I ask him to back off, the more persistent he gets. Even when I was with the people I love,

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Nick: Look, I really feel for what he’s going through, losing the baby and then having to make that choice. It’s– it’s impossible. And then, he’s battling my dad. I just– I was really hoping he would listen to me when I told him to give you some space.

Sally: Look, you don’t have to fix my problems, nick.

Nick: Right now, I do because you need to focus on healing. Not that it matters. I mean, adam just turned it into an argument and he didn’t hold back.

Sally: I’m sorry.

Nick: I’m not because he brought up something that you and I need to deal with.

Sally: Oh, great. So you’re taking relationship advice from adam now.

Nick: In this case, I am. Because you said the same thing the other day when you broke down. When you were at the hospital, I wasn’t there and you needed me.

Sally: Look, I was raw and upset. It was not meant to be an accusation.

Nick: But it was honest.

Sally: Look, I– I don’t blame you, okay? Uh, you had to be there for faith. You and sharon had to save your daughter and I– I get that more than ever now. And you had no idea that my daughter’s life was in danger too.

Nick: Well, that sounds logical and rational, but the fact is I wasn’t there when you needed me most.

Sally: Look, I– I really don’t want you to beat yourself up over it, okay? And I hate that adam made you feel bad about it, which is another reason why I want him out of my life. You know, he twists everything for his benefit. It’s just hurtful and manipulative and I hate it. So, um, you know, he needs to understand that if he cannot respect my wishes, then there is no more room for him in my life.

Audra: I hope I didn’t do anything to upset you, sir. Look, I’m not sure what you’ve heard, but I can assure you that whatever it is, I– I can explain.

Victor: You’re not the reason for my warning. My son adam is. Do you know him?

Audra: Uh, I met him recently at the athletic club lounge. Um, it was brief and it was before I– I was asked to fill in for nate.

Victor: Who approached whom?

Audra: I initiated the conversation.

Victor: Or so you thought.

Audra: Do you believe adam orchestrated our meeting?

Victor: I know my son can be quite charming.

Audra: Hm. Well, I promise you, I spilled no company secrets. Look, I am aware that adam is in charge of mccall. So I– I made sure I didn’t give away anything about newman media.

Victor: Good. Audra, I asked you here to forewarn you. My son, adam, is aiming to take over newman media. I don’t know when he will strike, but he will strike. Are you ready for the battle?

Summer: No, I don’t see it as poaching. I see it as sharing the creative wealth. I mean, your video game has launched, right? I figured you’d be looking for a new challenge.

Daniel: Right, but hiring chelsea away seems a little out of the blue like something you might have discussed with your brother first.

Chelsea: Well, no offense to either one of you, but I’m perfectly capable of fielding my own job offers.

Daniel: Of course, you are. I am just pointing out that you are valued at omegasphere.

Chelsea: Well, I appreciate that. And summer, I remember when you offered me this role previously and I turned you down.

Summer: I know, but it’s been a little while now and marchetti could really use your talents now more than ever.

Chelsea: Why is that?

Summer: There have been some changes and it’s presented a really unique opportunity. You and I would actually be running marchetti together.

Billy: Uh, isn’t that job taken by your husband?

Summer: Oh, you haven’t heard? Kyle’s leaving and I’m taking over as ceo, which is why I would love for you, chelsea, to take my position as creative director.

Billy: I’m sorry, kyle’s leaving?

Daniel: Can I speak with you for a minute, privately?

Summer: Chelsea, please consider my offer. I think it could be really great.

Chelsea: I will. Thank you.

Daniel: Excuse us.

Billy: Uh, I apologize. I’m gonna have to head back to the office and I’m gonna need a large coffee to go. So, why don’t I take you home?

Chelsea: Sounds great.

Daniel: Hey. What was that all about? What’s going on with you?

Summer: Kyle and I have separated. For people who are a little intense about hydration. With cirkul, your water is deliciously flavored at the turn of a dial, with zero sugar and zero calories. And cirkul has over 40 flavors, so your water can be as unique as you are. Try cirkul at drinkcirkul.Com

Billy: First diane, now kyle. I don’t think it’s a good thing to have your co-ce. Being left in the dark like that, jack. No, I– I– yes, I understand, it’s a unique situation and I feel for them both, but the courtesy of– of a heads up would be great. Thank you very much. That’s all I’m asking. Bye, talk to you soon.

Chelsea: So?

Billy: So, I now know why kyle is no longer at marchetti and why I didn’t find out about it until now. I guess it happened very quickly. Summer and kyle have separated and summer moved out.

Chelsea: Oh, no, I’m sorry to hear that. Makes sense why summer was so intense earlier though.

Billy: Yeah. And it also makes sense why daniel and summer both value your talent.

Chelsea: I don’t know. I mean, should I even consider this marchetti offer? Summer seems almost desperate.

Billy: I mean, if you’re asking me, I think it’s a hell of an opportunity.

Chelsea: But I thought you felt omegasphere was a good idea?

Billy: It is. I’m just seeing the perks, you know. Seeing you in and around the office would be fantastic. I wouldn’t have to squeeze in time between dinner and a movie.

Chelsea: So, you have purely selfish motives? You just want to work together again.

Billy: It wouldn’t be the same as the podcast. You know, we wouldn’t be working directly with each other, but if I get to see you in and around the water cooler, I’m gonna see that as a bonus. What do you say?

Daniel: Are you sure that you and kyle can’t work through this? Separation just seems so extreme.

Summer: Nothing is final. I– I got a room upstairs, but it’s not gonna be for long.

Daniel: Can I ask you why you seem so optimistic?

Summer: Kyle just needs some time. I mean, we’ve been through rough patches like this in the past and we always get back together. I mean, it’s what we do.

Daniel: Okay. I– I hope so. I just want you to be realistic too.

Summer: Wait, I’m sorry. Is this you being supportive right now?

Daniel: I am feeling like a protective older brother. You know, as someone who lived through a separation recently. When time apart, when it becomes permanent, that gut punch can hurt if it comes out of left field.

Summer: Look, I’m clinging to hope right now and you’re telling me to prepare for the worst.

Daniel: No, I just don’t want to see you hurt anymore. We did inherit a fierce ability to deny reality from our mother. Look where she is now.

Nick: Victoria forced me to take a leave of absence, allegedly to use the personal time to deal with the recent turmoil.

Sally: I’m part of that turmoil, aren’t I?

Nick: Yeah, but you’re worth it. No, but I am here to support you.

Sally: And sharon and faith. Look, maybe she’s right. You know, you always feel the need to be there for everyone else, but you have been through a lot too.

Nick: Honestly, if I thought I needed some time off, I would take it. But this is mandatory and I just don’t buy that it is for my own good.

Sally: You think there’s another motive?

Nick: I think vic and my replacement have other goals in mind.

Sally: Let me guess who replaced you… nate hastings.

Nick: You got it. And I have a feeling if it’s up to nate, I will not have a job to come back to.

Audra: Are you sure adam is trying to make a move? You know, maybe he’s bluffing, trying to goad victoria? Look, I know they don’t get along.

Victor: I know my son and he doesn’t make idle threats. He has declared war.

Audra: Then, he’ll get a war. Newman media will be safe under my watch. I have a question for you. You own mccall unlimited, don’t you? The same company that adam is using to go against newman media. Why are you playing both sides here?

[ Victor chuckling ]

Victor: Don’t you concern yourself with what angle I’m playing. You just pay attention to what adam is up to. I do not want him to take over newman media. (Wheezing)

Sally: So, how are you going to keep your sister and nate from pushing you out of your job?

Nick: I’m not gonna sweat it. I didn’t want this time off, but I’m gonna use it to take care of the people I care about. So don’t worry about me. No matter how things shake out at newman, I’m gonna be just fine.

Sally: God, I admire your calm. If I were you, I could not sit still. Of course, I am already climbing the walls because everything in this room reminds me of everything that happened.

Nick: Well, why don’t you try and focus on something else other than your grief? You know, something that’s rewarding for you. How are things going at chancellor winters?

Sally: No clue. Chloe has been calling me and I have been putting her off.

Nick: What’s she want?

Sally: I don’t know, I think just to check in as a friend. But she probably also needs help with work. I know she’s been doing everything on her own since the pregnancy complications.

Nick: I think you should call her. You know, some work or even just a friendly visit. It might be exactly what you need right now.

Chelsea: I’m not sure about such a big change. Not just going back to fashion, but this job summer is offering, it’s gonna be a lot of pressure and very public.

Billy: Yes, that’s all true. And if you’re not ready for it, that’s– that’s okay. But what do you– what do you think about the gaming job then?

Chelsea: It’s been rewarding being able to help people.

Billy: Okay. Well, that’s a good thing. But, you know, this– this job that summer is offering, it’s a hell of an opportunity, right? I mean, especially if you want to stay in the fashion world. Just think about it before you say no. That’s it.

Chloe: Chels.

Chelsea: Hi.

Chloe: Hi. I’ve missed you so much. I feel like we’ve been caught up in different orbits lately.

Billy: Perfect timing. I’m gonna bounce back to the office, okay? I’ll let you two catch up.

Chelsea: Bye.

Billy: Talk to you soon. Hi. Bye. Good to see you.

Chloe: Bye. Well, tell me all things like what’s going on with you two?

Chelsea: I will, but first I’m so glad you’re here. I actually really need your opinion on something. So, summer offered me a job at marchetti. Her job.

Chloe: Wow. She’s leaving?

Chelsea: Kyle is. And she’s taking over as ceo.

Chloe: Which leaves creative director open. That’s– that’s huge.

Chelsea: I know. But it’s probably too much for me, right? I mean, what do you think?

Chloe: Oh, uh, yeah, I– I don’t think I’m well equipped to give any advice.

Chelsea: Well, why not? We worked together. You know what the job would entail. Who better?

Chloe: I don’t know, maybe a better friend.

Chelsea: What are you talking about?

Chloe: How could I weigh in on such huge advice when I didn’t do more for you when you needed me most?

Audra: Thank you. I used to wait to run my dishwasher

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue.

What can you do

with sensitive skin?

Chelsea: It sounds like you’re blaming yourself for my depression and what I went through. And I’ve told you, you are not responsible for either one of those things.

Chloe: Yeah, but why did I let you push me away? Because if I had been there more often, maybe I would have seen the warning signs.

Chelsea: Chloe, it’s my job to notice when I’m feeling a certain way and I need to reach out to people. Something I didn’t do last time when things got so dark. I shut you out. You have been nothing but a support system for me, always. You fought for me, for us, for our partnership and I pushed you away. I didn’t recognize it at the time, so it’s my job to be more vigilant and not push away the people that love me and care about me, especially somebody like you who is the most loyal friend around.

Chloe: Well, I just want you to know, you can lean on me, always.

Chelsea: Well, I need to lean on you right now because I need to go through the pros and cons of this job offer, please.

Chloe: Okay. Well, just know that, um, you know, I’m here for all things, always.

[ Both chuckling ]

Nick: Hey, dad.

Victor: Hey, son. Thank you for coming. Please have a seat.

Nick: Why not? I’ve got nothing but time on my hands right now since I have no office to go to.

Victor: Well, I want you to know that I had nothing to do with your forced sabbatical. In fact, your mother and I were against it.

Nick: Thanks. I appreciate all the help lately.

Victor: That’s very nice to hear. Remember that next time you get pissed off at me. I do help my family, you know.

Nick: I’ll try. It seems like faith’s doing, uh, she’s doing well. Uh, she’s happy to be back at the dorm with all her friends. It is exactly the distraction we were hoping. Sharon and I check in with her every day.

Victor: You know that I’m playing chess with her at least once a week.

Nick: I know. Thank you for doing that. She needs all the support we can give her right now.

Victor: Yup.

Nick: Now, if I were you, I’d be focusing more on the chess match that victoria seems to be playing. I was informed that all of my staff was recently reassigned.

Victor: You don’t think I’m keeping an eye on things?

Nick: Is that what this meeting’s about? You want to try and figure out how to deal with victoria and nate?

Victor: No. This meeting, I’m gonna ask you to help adam.

Summer: Beautiful flowers. Someone must really be trying to impress you.

Audra: Oh, it’s to congratulate me on my new job. Uh, today is my first day as acting ceo of newman media.

Summer: Wow. And they got you jewelry too. I– I recognize the gift box. It’s the same jeweler that I go to. You must have already impressed my aunt.

Audra: Oh, I’m sure it’s just a fountain pen or a desk clock or something.

Summer: Well, good luck and I’ll see you around.

Audra: Are you staying here?

Summer: It’s temporary. Like your new position.

Audra: Welcome to the club, neighbor.

Adam: Well, you were right about being able to run into all the movers and shakers of genoa city here.

Audra: I’ve been warned about you.

Adam: And I would bet you have never listened to a warning in your life. Are you tired of clean clothes that just don’t smell clean?

[ Sally exhaling ]

Sally: Wow. That was fast.

Chloe: I got your text and I’m working on being a better friend.

Sally: It’s absolutely not something you need improvement on. I’m the one that hasn’t been pulling my weight at chancellor-winters.

Chloe: Taking care of yourself is not slacking off. It’s doctor’s orders, and mine. How are you doing?

Sally: I’m not gonna lie. It has not been easy.

Chloe: Yeah, I mean, losing a child is the hardest thing in the world.

Sally: I’m not really sure I’m ready to go back to work.

Chloe: No, of course not. Of course not. And I– I hope you don’t feel like you need to on my account because I have everything covered.

Sally: No. Uh, nick thinks that it might be a good distraction for me.

Chloe: And what do you think?

Sally: I’m having a hard time really thinking about anything right now.

Chloe: Yeah. Well, it looks like you’ve been cooped up here for a bit.

Sally: What gave it away? No, I– look, at least walking is getting easier. I have been doing laps around the block and slow, steady, boring. Yeah, maybe a distraction would be good for me.

Chloe: Okay. Well, um, I got approvals on all of the preliminary sketches and all of the paint colors have been chosen. Who knew there were so many whites to choose from? Uh, they loved all of your choices for the sofas and the chairs and we’re gonna start renovations soon in the common areas. We think that doing it in stages is best so they can continue to use the workspace.

Sally: Wow, you’ve been doing a lot.

Chloe: Too overwhelming?

Sally: No, no, really. And I– I appreciate you taking over everything. I– I’m just having trouble thinking about anything more than what I want for lunch.

Chloe: Yeah. Okay. So, um, let’s just start slow.

Sally: Okay.

Chloe: Okay? And get the creative juices flowing.

Nick: Dad, I am the last person adam wants to hear from. And frankly, I’m in no mood to reach out to him right now.

Victor: Son, you didn’t let me finish.

Nick: I don’t need to hear anymore. Look, I feel terrible about what adam and sally have gone through. It’s awful, but I’ve tried to reach out to him and he shut that down pretty quickly because he refuses to honor sally’s wishes. And that is to give her some space and it’s making her even more upset.

Victor: But you understand that they went through a traumatic situation. I mean, all that adam wants to do is, you know, share some of the grief with her. Can’t you ask her to be more open to that?

Nick: Sally is not the problem.

Victor: I know you think adam is the problem and I don’t disagree with you. However, you must know by now that I will never give up hope. I think that he is capable of changing.

Nick: Well, adam is always your blind spot.

Victor: Yeah. There’s truth to that, son. I hope you’ll never be in a situation like that. It tears me apart, you know. He’s my son as well. And right now, he needs someone to support him. The stillbirth has put him on a very dangerous trajectory and I am very concerned about it. So, what I’m asking you, if you can find it in your heart to give him one more chance?

Nick: Okay, um, let’s say I was willing. What exactly do you want from me?

[ Adam sighing ]

Audra: Care if I join you?

Adam: Hm? Don’t you have a thank you call to make? I mean, that was quite a extravagant floral arrangement gift I saw you with. Is that a fan or someone more intimate? Or maybe you had them sent to yourself?

Audra: And uh, why would I do that?

Adam: Make a statement. “I’m someone to be admired.”

Audra: I am, but I– I don’t need to send myself gifts to prove that.

Adam: No, I guess not. And I guess you’re not gonna tell me who the flowers were from.

Audra: Why ruin the mystery?

Adam: Mm.

Audra: What time is she coming?

Adam: Before noon. So, who warned you about me?

Audra: Take a guess?

Adam: Oh, that’s, um, that’s a long list of options there.

Audra: So everyone knows that you just have your sights set on newman media?

Adam: Well, I haven’t made that big of a secret of it, but I’m curious where your loyalties lie.

Audra: Well, I’m the ceo of newman media, so what do you think?

Adam: Well, you’re the interim ceo, ’til victoria gives my brother his job back, but…

Audra: Yes, the temporary nature of my job has been made very clear to me.

Adam: And I would bet that you hate that.

Audra: No, I’m actually looking forward to proving myself.

Adam: Oh, I bet you are. But word on the street is you’re no stranger to betraying your employer. So, what’s the chance of you doing that again?

[ Knocking on door ]

Summer: Who is it?

Daniel: It’s your brother.

Summer: Hey, I thought you were going to work. What’s up? Did you hear from mom?

Daniel: No, not exactly. Um… I got something to tell you and I don’t think you’re gonna like it.

Summer: What did you do?

Daniel: I texted mom and I told her about your separation from kyle.

Summer: Why did you do that?

Daniel: Because it’s a big deal and she’d want to know.

Summer: Daniel, that wasn’t your information to share.

Daniel: Mom is responsible for your separation. It’s time she took responsibility.

Summer: We have no idea how she’s gonna react to that information.

Daniel: You’re right. Maybe it’ll bring her back. I mean, if she cares about us as much as she says she does, your relationship shouldn’t become another casualty of her bad choices.

Victor: What I’m asking is for you to join forces with adam at mccall.

Nick: Dad, come on. You already asked me this before and I said no. What makes you think I’d change my mind?

Victor: Son, you yourself said you have plenty of time now that you’re forced into this sabbatical. Why not put it to good use?

Nick: But you honestly think I would trade newman enterprises for mccall with adam?

Victor: Let me tell you something. Adam needs you more than victoria does. I’m begging you. I’m worried about my son. I don’t know if anyone can help him right now. I think if you were willing to support him, there’s a chance that he will straighten out.

Sally: What about something like this? A workspace that is both ergonomic and sleek. And it easily converts from seated to a standing desk. And if we position them like this, then they have this great view and they do not have to stare at each other. It’s a win-win.

Chloe: I love it.

Sally: The sketch?

Chloe: Yes, but mostly just seeing you smile again. Hey, no, stop, I… okay, I– I know where your mind just went. You’re feeling guilty for forgetting for a second. You are not betraying your daughter by being happy, okay? Your little girl would want her mama to keep smiling.

Sally: Thank you. Ava would have loved her aunt chloe.

Chloe: Oh, honey, that’s a beautiful name. I’m so sorry. My timing really sucks, I need to go. I have to meet kevin. I…

Sally: Of course, go. Really.

Chloe: Ah, you know, um, I think, you know, uh, we should just get together with lily and devon. Set up a meeting.

Sally: I would like to join.

Chloe: Are you sure?

Sally: Yes. Yeah. I’m– I’m ready to get out into the world. I– I don’t need to keep hiding in here, piling up dirty dishes.

Chloe: Okay. Um, you know, listen, I– I can just set a time and then, you know, if you want to cancel, it’s okay.

Sally: Thank you.

Chloe: I didn’t do anything.

Sally: You showed up. And you encouraged me to start small and you said things that other people are afraid to say.

Chloe: Come here.

[ Chloe sighing ] Okay. Bye, sweetie.

[ Sally sighing ]

Adam: I know that I could apologize every day for the rest of my life and it would never be enough to ease your pain because I know there’s nothing that will ease mine. We’re the only two people in the world who know what it is to lose ava. She will live on in our hearts as the fierce, brilliant, adventurous girl we knew her to be. I can only hope that her memory will help us find a way through this. I don’t want the darkness to win. I want to believe that there can be healing. Well, I don’t know, maybe it’s ava’s spirit that’s making me write this letter. She knows that we’ve suffered her loss together, but just as creating her bound us here on earth, losing her binds us for eternity. But I wanna be in your life, in the here and now to support you through this. I’ll be waiting downstairs until noon if you want to talk. Please don’t let this be goodbye. Adam.

Audra: Thank you. Listen, I’m happy in whatever role your sister deems best for me. And I’m ready to take you down in a corporate battle if that’s what you’re determined you’ll have.

Adam: Good to know.

Audra: Hm. Well, it’s past noon. I think you’ve been stood up by whoever you’re waiting for.

Adam: You know, you have made a big mistake underestimating me. And I hope you get ready for the biggest battle of your life.

Devon: Look at you. You’re really considering this move to the chancellor mansion, aren’t you?

Abby: Uh, you caught me. I have been giving it some serious thought. I mean, there’s a lot to consider, but honestly, I don’t think that it’s my choice to make. Leaving here would mean more to you than it would to me.

Kyle: Hey, dad. You wanted to see me?

Jack: Hey, come on in.

Kyle: I’ve got the latest figures on marchetti. I think you’ll be pleased with how things are going, although we may need to look at the–

Jack: I’m up to speed on the marchetti numbers. That’s not why I wanted to meet with you.

Kyle: Okay. What’s up?

Jack: I would like to discuss how we move forward from here.

Kyle: Move forward? Is there a problem I should know about?

Jack: There might be, given where things stand in your relationship with summer.

Kyle: Oh, dad, you don’t have to worry about that. Summer and i will be professional. We will find a way to manage our new normal, we will figure out how to work without conflict or acrimony if that’s what you’re concerned about.

Jack: I have my doubts. I’m not sure it’s possible or productive.

Kyle: So what are you saying?

Jack: One of you is gonna have to step away from your position at marchetti.

Kyle: The new marchetti is our creation. We reinvented that company together. Summer’s lost so much. I mean, asking her to resign after she’s been put through everything? It doesn’t seem fair. This’ll be hard on her.

Jack: I’m sorry, kyle. Summer is not the one who needs to resign.

Diane: Summer. Look, I am so sorry about what’s going on between you and kyle. I– I hate seeing the two of you torn up like this. But I just– I just hope you know that if you want or need anyone to talk to, that I’m– I’m here for you.

Summer: You know what, diane? Just stop. I– I don’t want to hear your support or your concern. You know, you were absolutely no help in getting kyle to forgive me, so thanks for nothing.

[ Diane scoffing ] Ughh!

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by… dominic’s baby talk,

Devon: All right, well, you know that I’m definitely not going to be making this decision on my own because we both have to have an equal say, and we have to be on the same page for a move like this.

Abby: Well, I mean, honestly I would be happy living anywhere as long as we’re together. But if I could translate dominic’s baby talk, I think he feels more at home at the chancellor estate.

Devon: Yeah? You don’t think he feels at home here?

Abby: Don’t get me wrong, he loves it here, but that’s where he spent most of his early life.

Devon: I know. I know. That’s– he probably does feel the difference.

Abby: I mean, as soon as we pull into the chancellor house, I mean, he gets the biggest smile on his face.

Devon: Yeah, I bet he does. It’s a nice place. It’s huge. He has a park for a backyard.

Abby: Yes. I mean, and I think he connects this place with spending time with you, which he obviously loves. I mean, as soon as we get off the elevator, he starts saying, “daddy!”

Devon: Well, he would definitely have more space in the mansion and a lot more rooms to explore. We could take one and turn it into a whole toy store for him. He’d probably love that.

Abby: Yeah, what kid wouldn’t?

Devon: Yeah.

Abby: But how are you feeling about this move? What’s your heart telling you?

Devon: Uh, honestly, I just keep thinking about what chance said about katherine because, well, that mansion was her pride and joy, and she’d hate for it to be sitting empty.

Abby: Yeah, no, I heard she would want the whole place to be filled with life and laughter.

Devon: Exactly. And it seems like chance is gonna do whatever he’s gonna do, regardless of if we move or not, so I don’t know. It just feels like another part of katherine’s legacy that I could keep alive. And I know that she would love the fact that her great-grandson is growing up in a house that meant so much to her.

Abby: Then, I think we have our answer.

Devon: You think so?

Abby: Mm-hmm.

Devon: I think we do, too.

She couldn’t wait to go on the attack.

Nate: Lily, uh, I’m temporarily filling in for nick as coo of the parent company. And audra here is keeping things running at newman media for me.

Lily: Oh, that makes sense. You’re a place filler. I got it. Yeah.

Audra: No. I’m much more than a place filler, as evidence by the deal I just negotiated.

Nate: So? Meeting went well?

Audra: I’d say it’s pretty much in the bag.

Nate: Congratulations, that is quite the score. You’ll have to fill me in on the details.

Audra: Oh, definitely.

Lily: Audra, would you mind giving us a minute to chat?

Audra: Of course. I’ve got quite a few phone calls to make about my huge news. Oh, and lily, I don’t think I ever got to thank you.

Lily: For what?

Audra: For firing me from chancellor-winters. If you and devon had never let me go, I would have never gotten this incredible opportunity. Now, I’m flying high at newman media. And I’m not usually one to brag, but I feel like I’m finally at the top of my game.

[ Lily chuckling ]

Lily: Oh, my gosh. Okay, wow. Anyway, um, I haven’t seen you since the tribute to my dad. How are you doing?

Nate: Thank you for asking. I have to say, things– things are great.

Lily: Good. I’m glad to hear that. I was worried about you after I heard about your breakup with elena. It didn’t have to do with audra, did it?

Nate: No, no, not at all. Um, actually, victoria and I have started seeing each other.

Lily: I’m sorry. [ Laughing ] Wow. Really? Wow. [ Laughing ] You are swimming with all the sharks, aren’t you?

[ Lily chuckling ] I mean, I was gonna tell you to be careful of audra and victoria, but you really are managing the waters just fine, aren’t you?

Diane: Look, I know you’re upset right now. Ho– how can you not be after everything that has happened. Stop! Summer, I just want you to know that I’m sorry.

Summer: Diane, you’re the reason that my mom is gone and my marriage is crumbling. Honestly, I– I’m just grateful that I don’t have to walk around on eggshells with you anymore.

Diane: What? Why can’t you see that I’m trying to help you to understand why you’re acting like this?

Summer: You’re trying to help? When I asked you for help with my marriage, it was a test. And you failed it. Miserably. So, I– I’m gonna handle things on my own from here on out. And you know what? My mom was right. You do destroy everything that you touch.

Kyle: You’re suggesting that I should be the one to resign?

Jack: Yes, I think summer should be the one to stay on marchetti.

Kyle: Okay, based on what? Did summer put you up to this?

Jack: No. Absolutely not. Summer would never do that. Look, I discussed this with her, this is a business discussion. Yes, it is personal as well.

Kyle: So, personally you would rather I be the one to go?

Jack: Kyle, I have to look at the whole picture. Summer’s life is in chaos. She thinks she’s losing everything. Marchetti should be the one thing that she can count on.

Kyle: Oh, dad, she should have been able to count on me, but instead she chose to lie and keep secrets.

Jack: Kyle, you are my son, and I love you, and the last thing I want is for you to leave your grandfather’s company.

Kyle: Yeah, but you want me to resign from marchetti.

Jack: From marchetti, yes. Not from jabot. There are plenty of jobs in other divisions here you could walk into seamlessly. We’ll figure it out.

Kyle: Billy occupies my old ceo seat, dad, so what’s left?

Jack: There are probably plenty of options, kyle. I said we’ll figure it out. I’m sorry, I really am, but if you are determined to separate from summer, it makes sense, business sense, to separate at work as well.

Kyle: I see. But I have to wonder if there isn’t more to this.

Jack: What more could there be?

Kyle: Is this your subtle way of trying to get summer and me to stay together?

Audra: I see your cousin left. Did she, uh, lecture you again on corporate morality?

[ Nate chuckling ]

Nate: Why would you say that?

Audra: Seems like that’s what she does. She’s judgmental, that one. She took her own brother to court over the family company.

Nate: Ah, don’t be so hard on her. Lily’s a good person with a good heart. We had a chance to reconnect a little at neil’s jazz lounge dedication and I am– I am relieved about that. The last thing I want is for our relationship to backslide now that things are, thankfully, on the right path.

Audra: Listen, I have nothing against you rebonding with your family. Look, in fact, I’m all for it. Just please don’t let lily’s selective conscience influence important business decisions.

Nate: I’m not worried about lily or any undue influence you think she might have on me.

Audra: Your cousin may want to be on your side, but you still betrayed her company. And now, here you are succeeding without it. That’s probably something she won’t forget anytime soon.

Lily: I am so glad you called me over because I have some news for you.

Devon: Really?

Lily: Yes.

Devon: What is it?

Lily: Nate is involved romantically with victoria. [ Laughing ]

Devon: Yeah.

Lily: Did you know?

Devon: Yeah. I did know ’cause elena told me about it not too long ago and I didn’t wanna go and gossip about nate cheating on her.

Lily: Oh, I didn’t know he cheated. He left that part of the story out.

Devon: I bet he did.

Lily: Okay, well did you know this? That nate and audra have temporary positions at newman? Nate’s filling in for nick as coo, and audra’s filling in for nate as ceo at newman media. So, no such thing as karma, I guess.

Devon: Wow, yeah, no, I guess not.

Lily: You know, I really felt like after the tribute to dad that maybe nate and i could work things out. I just keep wanting to believe he’s this good person, but he just keeps proving me wrong over and over.

Devon: He hasn’t been a good person for a while now. But despite that, how would you feel about being his neighbor?

Chance: Hey.

Abby: Hi.

Chance: Said you wanted to talk? Did you guys make a decision about the move?

Abby: I just– I want to make sure that you’re definitely okay with this move.

Chance: Well, I wouldn’t have made the offer otherwise.

Abby: Because it’s kind of a big life change and I don’t want you to have any regrets.

Chance: I know what I’m doing. I know what I want, okay?

Abby: Okay. Because, you know, it’s just the two of us. I mean, you can tell me how you’re feeling. You can be open.

Chance: Abby, trust me, I’m not holding anything back. Why would I do that?

Abby: Just because we’re not together anymore doesn’t mean I don’t care about you. So, if you wanna tell me how you’re feeling, you can. I’m here to listen.

Jack: Kyle, there is no manipulation here. There is no ulterior motive. This is not part of a plan to get you to stay with summer. Regardless how I feel about that, I would never force you to do something against your will.

Kyle: Then why would you choose her over your own son?

Jack: That is not what I am doing. Kyle, I love you both. Let me be very clear about this. No one is getting fired, I am in no way suggesting that you leave jabot. There are great jobs here that you could thrive in.

Kyle: Mm-hmm. It feels like I’d be going backward.

Jack: It is not feasible for you to continue working as a team. Your jobs require that you work in sync, you would be doing damage to a company you’ve worked very hard to build. And think about it, kyle, working day in, day out next to summer? That would hurt you both, you can see that, right?

Kyle: No, I can’T. Summer and i are perfectly capable of handling our jobs and keeping our personal life out of it.

Jack: You say that now, but try to imagine how awkward a workplace you would be creating for yourself and everyone else. Kyle, if you are determined to separate from summer, separate. No one can stop you from that. But if you continue to try so hard to work with summer closely, maybe that should tell you something. Kyle, we need to resolve this. I’m gonna need your answer soon.

Kyle: I will get back to you.

[ Jack sighing ]

Chance: Thank you. Look, abby, I appreciate your concern. And, yes, this move is something that I need to do for me, but it’s– it’s mostly for dominic.

Abby: I know how badly I hurt you and I will always regret that.

Chance: We grew apart, all right? And I’m coming to terms with that now.

Abby: I know, but if I had–

Chance: Hey. Why don’t we put all that behind us and at least try to be friends again for dominic’s sake?

Abby: I would like that.

Chance: Good. I’m in a good place right now. Really. Looking forward, I’m trying to make better decisions for my future and I’d like to start with the house.

Abby: So, you’re really okay with moving out of the mansion?

Chance: Yeah, I don’t need that place. It’s too quiet, it feels like a mausoleum. It needs to be filled with laughter. It needs dominic running around all the time, not just when he visits.

Abby: Okay, well, it sounds like you’ve made up your mind then.

Chance: Already found a place. I’ll be out by the end of the week.

Abby: Wow. [ Laughing ] Okay then.

Chance: Tell me if I’m wrong, but I feel like this is the right move here. I mean, dominic’s still gonna have all three of his parents. I’m gonna see him just as much as I do now. You know, occasionally he can stay at my house, but he’s not gonna be bouncing back and forth all the time now.

Abby: Well, I think it’s official.

Devon: So, I invited you over here for an important reason and that is to offer you this penthouse. I thought you might be interested in moving in.

Lily: Uh, what do you– what? Where would you and abby and dominic live?

Devon: So, chance came by and offered us the opportunity to move into the chancellor mansion.

Lily: Wow.

Devon: And I know it seems a little odd given how everything went down between us, but we both think that it’s the right move for everyone.

Lily: And how so?

Devon: Well, ’cause chance is single, so he doesn’t need all that space to himself. And as for dominic, that’s where he feels the most comfortable living.

Lily: That’s great. You guys are being very mature about this.

Devon: Yeah. It is easy once we agree to put dominic first. But would you be interested in moving in here?

Lily: I mean… [ Laughing ] …This has definitely caught me off guard, but, I mean, I– I love this place, I’ve always thought it’s beautiful and it’s, you know, the last place…

Devon: Neil was alive.

Lily: Yeah, which, you know, I like the idea of his presence being here, that’s very comforting. So I do love that.

Devon: It was almost the thing that kept me from even considering moving out, but then I thought of you. I thought you’d be perfect to be in here. And I imagine you could get a good deal on the place since I know the owner of the building. So, come on. How about we, uh, we keep this place in the family?

[ Summer sighing ]

Kyle: You know how much I love you. I would follow you anywhere in the world. Even right across the room because you are the center of my universe. You and harrison. How long have I known you?

Summer: Mm, close to forever.

Kyle: And in all that time, you’ve been a million things to me. My rock, my advisor, best friend, partner.

Summer: Tormentor.

[ Both laughing ]

Kyle: My love. We’ve been through challenges together and everyone keeps talking about how young we are, but all I can think about is summer and I, we have lived a lifetime together. And you’ve watched me go down paths that have led me away from you, only to find that I’ve always followed the path that brought me right back home.

Summer: It has been the wildest ride of my life, kyle.

Kyle: But you didn’t sign up for this, raising a child that you didn’t give birth to.

Summer: Harrison is my son, biological or not.

Kyle: I know. And that’s what I love most about you. The way you open up your heart just to let people in. And I thank whatever higher power that put me in your sights. I know we’ve had our obstacles.

Summer: You. It was definitely mostly you.

Kyle: But you never gave up. We’re the best part of each other’s stories and every time I turn the page, you’re doing something else that blows my mind or makes me know we made the right choice when we chose each other. I would choose you every day.

Summer: Even over ice cream?

Kyle: Yes, even over my beloved mocha fudge. Now, just please, just let me finish, okay?

[ Summer laughing ] You are what makes me want to find out what comes next. I know it hasn’t been easy and there will be more difficulties, there always will be. I am so lucky I get to face them with you.

Summer: Well, stick around ’cause this next chapter, it is out of this world.

Kyle: Good. I like our story. I love our family.

Summer: We are the best, right? [ Giggling ]

Kyle: Like I said, I would follow you anywhere in the world, so will you do the same for me?

Summer: Of course, but where are we going?

Kyle: Back down the aisle. Summer newman abbott… will you make me the happiest man in genoa city? Will you marry me again?

Summer: You’re home. Did diane call you?

Kyle: Is there a reason she should have?

Summer: It doesn’t matter anyway.

Kyle: What happened now? Did you and my mom get into–

Summer: It’s not everything, but it’s enough to move out with. Just what you want, right?

Kyle: I guess. I just– I didn’t expect you’d be ready to go so quickly.

Summer: What would be the point in waiting?

Kyle: Um… I talked to my dad about marchetti. He thinks I should leave the company and let you run it. I fought at first, but now I realize how right he is. We shouldn’t inflict our problems on other people. Marchetti’s yours. You shouldn’t have to lose any more.

Summer: I guess there’s just one thing left to do. Hardest part of all. [ Sighs ] Harrison, could you come down here for a minute? Ughh! with sensitive skin?

Summer: Hi, sweetie, were you playing upstairs? Here, come sit with me.

Kyle: Sorry to interrupt all the fun, buddy, but mommy and daddy need to talk to you about something for a minute.

Harrison: Okay.

Summer: You know how much we love you, don’t you?

Kyle: And I hope you know that will never change. However, there is going to be a little shift around here. We want to be sure that you understand.

Summer: I’m gonna be moving out for a little while. But other than that, nothing much is gonna be different.

Kyle: Nope. Not at all. We’ll still be doing all the fun things we always do.

Summer: Yeah, and I’m still gonna see you every single day. I’m gonna read to you and play with you and– you can come and visit me anytime you like.

Kyle: Trust us. You will never miss out on a single drop of our love. Just like always. Okay, buddy?

Summer: In fact, you know what? We’re gonna have even more fun than ever.

Kyle: And I hope you know you can always count on us to be there for you. 100%.

[ Summer sighing ]

Summer: I love you, harrison. Come here.

Audra: Check us out. We’re on a real roll here. On track to getting everything we’ve been working towards. To us.

Nate: I can’t believe how effortlessly everything kind of just has fallen into place.

Audra: You know, I mean, what nick went through was terrible. I don’t wish that on anyone.

Nate: He didn’t think he needed the time off. He hasn’t gone back to the office since victoria insisted.

Audra: Hmm.

Nate: She really didn’t leave him a choice.

Audra: Do you know when he’s planning to return?

Nate: No. I haven’t heard a word about it. Who knows? Maybe he’ll decide to give up on the corporate life again. You know, buy another bar or refocus on his charity work.

Audra: That will leave the coo position wide open for you to step right in. Permanently.

Nate: I wouldn’t turn it down, that’s for sure.

Audra: Things are still going well with you and victoria personally, I hope?

Nate: Could be better. Speaking of which, in light of our new positions, we should probably head back to the office.

Audra: Oh, you go ahead. I– I have something to take care of. A little side project I’m working on.

Nate: Anything victoria and i should know about?

Audra: Not yet, but stand by. It may prove very rewarding.

Abby: Lily, hey!

Lily: Hey!

Abby: I’m so happy that you’re here. I have some good news to share.

Devon: Do you? What is it?

Abby: Well, it’s on the chance front. We can move into the chancellor mansion by the end of the week.

Lily: Wow, congratulations.

Devon: Sheesh. That’s very fast, a week.

Abby: Yeah, I guess chance found another place to live.

Devon: He wasn’t messing around, was he?

Abby: No, um, how’s everything going here?

Devon: I don’t know yet ’cause lily hasn’t given me an answer yet.

Abby: Well, I’m sure you don’t have to sell lily on how amazing this place is. Not to mention it is super close to the chancellor-winters headquarters.

Devon: That’s right.

Lily: That’s true. Oh, I mean…

Devon: Come on.

[ All laughing ]

Lily: You know what? I’m in. It’s fine. I’m in.

Abby: Yay!

Lily: I’m in. Yeah, why not?

Devon: Congratulations!

Lily: Why not? [ Laughing ]

Devon: All we gotta do is pack now.

Lily: Yeah.

Devon: Aw.

Lily: Wow.

Kyle: Well, that went better than expected.

[ Summer sighing ]

Summer: Breaks my heart. He’s been through so many sudden, drastic changes in his life. He’s adjusted so well in spite of it all.

Kyle: Well, that’s because of you.

Summer: You too. We made a pretty great team.

Kyle: We always will when it comes to our son.

Summer: The hardest part is gonna come later when he calls out for me and I’m not here.

Kyle: That’s when we will just pick up the phone, then. Okay? I promise to let harrison call you as often and anytime as he wants. And you should feel free to come by and call whenever you like.

Summer: It’s not gonna be the same. Not for me or harrison. Okay. I guess I’m gonna get going.

Kyle: Here, let me help you with your bags.

Summer: No. It’s okay. I got it.

Your heart

is the beat of life.

Diane: It wasn’t pretty, jack. I cannot believe what summer said to me.

Jack: I am so sorry you had to deal with that.

Diane: Well, I’m trying not to blame her for being so upset. You know, she just needed to lash out at someone and there I was, the easiest target.

Jack: Well, that’s very generous of you, but she has no right treating you that way. You are not to blame for their problems. I had my own run-in with kyle earlier.

Diane: Well, I can imagine he’s as upset about their breakup as she is.

Jack: Well, it wasn’t about that directly. It was about marchetti.

[ Door creaks open ]

Diane: Kyle. Are you okay? What’s– what’s wrong?

Kyle: We told harrison about the separation. It went as well as could be expected.

Jack: That couldn’t have been easy.

Kyle: Summer also moved out of the house and… I told her I will be resigning from my position at marchetti.

Jack: I’m sure that was difficult to decide. More difficult to tell summer, but, kyle, I promise you, this new job is gonna be more than rewarding.

Kyle: Thanks, dad. I don’t think so.

Jack: Wait, what does that mean?

Kyle: I appreciate you offering a spot for me to stay at jabot, but I’m afraid I have to respectfully decline. I hope you’ll understand, but I need some space to figure out what’s next.

Jack: What’s next without jabot?

Abby: I have to schedule the movers, I have to get extra keys for the chancellor house, I have to notify the post office. I have to have dominic’s penthouse furniture put in storage or I could give it to charity.

[ Abby sighing ] Are you okay? Is all of this moving too fast?

Devon: What?

Abby: It’s just, we can slow it down. I mean, there’s no rush at all.

Devon: Nah, no need to slow anything down. I appreciate you being concerned. I’m fine.

Abby: Are you sure? ‘Cause I saw you drifting over here. I mean, it’s okay if you’re having second thoughts about moving.

Devon: Nah, it’s not any second thoughts, it’s– it’s just– it’s gonna be a little tougher to leave this place than I thought, you know? This is where I– I did all my real growing up. This is where I figured out who I am and what I wanted out of life. After all that time I spent at the gcac, this was the first place where I really felt like I could settle down.

Abby: Hmm. It’s not too late to change our minds.

Devon: No. We’re not gonna change our minds. It’s time to move on. And it’s time for us to start our life together.

Abby: Yeah.

Devon: Right?

Abby: Mm-hmm. Yeah.

Devon: It’s gonna be great.

[ Abby chuckling ]

Chance: Hey.

Summer: Hey.

Chance: Tell me this isn’t what it looks like.

Summer: Actually, it’s exactly what it looks like. Kyle asked me to move out.

Kyle: Got your text, but I’m surprised you wanted to meet here.

Audra: Well, I had a banner day as newman media’s newly minted interim ceo and I was busy getting settled in and meeting with department heads, but I had time for a short break and you seemed so eager, so, um, I thought I could spare you a few brief minutes of my very, very valuable time. Uh, how was your day?

Kyle: Um… summer moved out. She and I are separated. Want your clothes to smell freshly

Diane: It’s tough to see kyle hurting like this.

Jack: He’s at a crossroads in his life emotionally and professionally. Would he really walk away from jabot? And his family?

Diane: It’s just all so fresh right now. Kyle just needs to take a breath, take a step back and maybe even get away for a little while. And then he can return to his family’s business and find his place here. He knows that this is where he needs to be.

Jack: I don’t know. I’d sure like to believe that. I do know one thing. That house is gonna be a whole lot sadder without summer there.

Chance: Summer, I’m truly sorry. Unfortunately I’ve been through this, so I know it’s tough.

Summer: Yeah, it is.

Chance: Well, if you need someone to talk to, I’m here. Don’t be afraid to reach out.

Summer: Thanks. I think I just need to get settled into my new home and try to let all of this blow over. Then I can focus on getting my marriage back on track.

Audra: Sorry to hear that. I can imagine ending a marriage isn’t easy.

[ Kyle sighing ] I– I hope it didn’t have to do with, you know, with what happened with us last night.

Kyle: No. Trust me. My problems with summer started way before you and I slept together.

Audra: Well, I– I don’t mean to pry, but that’s a relief. I would hate to think that I, you know, made things worse for you.

Kyle: No, you don’t need to worry about that. Things were already bad, I just… I have a lot to figure out right now.

Audra: Don’t tell me there’s more?

Kyle: As if the separation wasn’t enough, I’m out of a job. Apparently, summer got to keep custody of the workplace.

Audra: I’m surprised. Uh, I would think that if anyone had to go, it’d be her, right? Jabot is your family’s company.

Kyle: Right.

Audra: Hmm. Well, I– I’m curious, what’re you gonna do next?

[ Kyle chuckling]

Kyle: I haven’t gotten that far. That’s much of what I have to figure out.

Audra: Interesting.

Kyle: Hmm.

Nate: The risk is undeniable, the downside is very real, but why not be ahead of the pack?

Victoria: Yes. Big. Bold. No limits. No safety nets. Have I told you lately how much I like the way you think? It’s like talking to myself, but it’s much more fun.

[ Both laughing ] Hey, I have an idea. Why don’t you take the babcock meeting this afternoon? The cfo can be a little, you know, hard-headed, but I’m sure it’s something you can handle. You could also head up the marketing team status conference? I think they could definitely use some fresh ideas in there.

[ Laughs ] What?

Nate: Those are very high profile.

Victoria: You’re onboard as the interim coo. I don’t see why that would be particularly unusual.

Nate: But we both know how a lot of people feel about me stepping in for nick. And me sitting in your chair. You’re making a hell of a statement with this move.

Victoria: I know. And I don’t care.

******************”**”***

Adam: Thank you for the condolences, but given your husband’s feelings for sally, you’ll understand if your sympathies feel a bit disingenuous.

Nikki: Adam, I am speaking to you as a fellow parent who has experienced loss. And it is unimaginable. The emptiness is overwhelming. Your vision of your future with your child has been taken from you.

Adam: Taken from me? No, no. Ask sally. This was my choice. Our little girl is dead because of me.

Nikki: That is not true.

Adam: Well, it is to sally and she hates me for it. I mean, our little girl didn’t even get to take a breath because of me.

Nikki: Adam, it was an impossible choice.

Adam: But, I mean, you can’t be surprised that I screwed up, right? ‘Cause I’m no hero, I’m not like Nicholas.

Nikki: You saved her life.

Adam: Well, apparently, that doesn’t count.

Nikki: Yes, of course it does. And thank god you did.

Adam: God? God doesn’t factor into this equation because any god who makes someone choose between mother and child isn’t a god that I believe in.

Nikki: You’re angry and that’s understandable, but you cannot let it consume you.

Adam: I don’t know. It seems to be my comfort zone these days. But, nikki, if you will excuse me.

Nikki: Adam, listen. Listen. You have a bright, wonderful son who needs you and you have people who care about you. I hope you can hold onto that.

Daytime Soap Opera Short Recaps

Recap written by Terry

Adam is pushing everyone away who wants to help him through the grief of losing his infant daughter. Nikki expresses her condolences, stating that she knows what it’s like to lose a child. Years ago when she was married to Jack, Nikki had a miscarriage. Adam finds her concern disingenuous. He also dismisses his father’s concern for him and Sally, to which Adam retorts that Victor never liked Sally.  Victor counters that he would not wish the loss of a child on his worst enemy.

Victor reassures Adam he is there for him and is his biggest supporter, not his enemy. He adds that he’s there to offer his extensive business experience to him to revamp McCall Unlimited. Their conversation turns to Newman Enterprises. Adam states he wants Newman Media back. Since it is under the umbrella of Newman Enterprises, Victor cautions him against going after Newman Media. Adam previously vowed to crush it, which he implied he would do unless he got it back. Victor thinks Adam’s goal stems from the extremely bitter rivalry between Victoria and Adam. Victoria says she plans to destroy McCall Unlimited. Victor notes that Victoria and Adam are headed for a head-on collision.

Victoria does some dismissing of her own when her mother asks if she wants to keep Nickolas away from his job permanently. Victoria claims she will not. Nikki said that forcing Nick to take a leave of absence and dissolving his team is aggressive and unnecessary.

Victoria said that Nick’s warning her about Ashland Locke is continually thrown in her face. Nick issues the same warning about Nate. Victoria claims that while Nick has distractions in his life, Nate, who is meant to be temporarily in Nick’s job, does not.

Victoria and Nate meet to discuss some overseas business. Nate says he’s ready for it. Victoria insists the same when speaking to her mother. Nikki is doubtful that’s the reason Victoria approves of him going away on business. Nikki says Nate is feeding her sense of power.

Kyle and Audra flirt in Chancellor Park, and she plays coy with him, telling him he may put his phone number in her cell phone, but not to expect a call. She mentions that she wants the top spot at Newman Media and is not hesitant to color outside of the lines to get it. In other words, she is willing to perhaps bend a few rules. After she leaves, Kyle orders flowers and diamond earrings to be delivered to her.

Sharon realizes that the ordeal she endured with Cameron is an opportunity to take her pain and anger and turn it into something good. Before Sharon killed him, he left her his company. Sharon says it’s time for a new direction and that maybe the gift in her nightmare was regaining her strength. Everything changes now, she vows.

Victoria: Well, we are back to back meetings today, so I hope you got a good night’s rest.

Nate: I had a good night, but it had nothing to do with sleep.

Victoria: I’d like you to accompany me on several of these meetings, including brock this afternoon.

Nate: With the decarbonization company. He’s pitching a merger?

Victoria: Mm-hmm. I would prefer it be an acquisition.

Nate: Same page.

Victoria: Yes, well the board is giving me some pushback. They think it’s too risky.

Nate: But we both know how a lot of people feel about me stepping in for nick. And me sitting in your chair. You’re making a hell of a statement with this move.

Victoria: I know. And I don’t care.

Audra: Soy latte, huh? I pegged you for a double macchiato kind of guy.

Kyle: I like to mix it up.

Audra: I remember.

Kyle: You excited? Today’s the big day. Taking on the role of ceo of newman media.

Audra: Acting ceo. The position is mine only as long as nate is needed to fill in for your father-in-law at newman enterprises.

Kyle: I wonder how nick feels about that?

Audra: I mean, he just went through hell. You know, I appreciate victoria looking out for nick. Giving him time and space to regroup.

Kyle: Looking out for him by replacing him.

Audra: Uh, sounds like you have an issue.

Kyle: Let’s just say I am very familiar with how the newman family takes care of their own and it doesn’t always have a whole lot to do with love.

Nikki: Adam, adam wait.

Adam: [ Sighing ] Nikki. What can I do for you?

Nikki: I am so very sorry for your loss.

Sharon: I’m not going to lie. That box from cameron has me freaked out. Everything I thought I was moving on from is front and center again. The idea of going to work, how would I ever focus? How’s sally?

Nick: I think I convinced her that she should stay home, get some rest. I’ll go and check on her just as soon as I make sure you’re settled.

Sharon: How could I ever feel settled with everything this maniac has hanging over me? Even from beyond the grave. What if there’s another box, nick? And another, and another? This guy is in my head and I hate him for it.

Nick: It could be the end of it, you know. His last gasp.

Sharon: It’s hard to believe there will ever be an end to cameron in my life. Leaving me his company? It’s like he knew he was going to die and he thought of everything he could to stay in my life.

Nick: He was one twisted son of a bitch.

Sharon: I hope he’s burning in hell. Sweet pillows of softness!

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Nate: So you know… I am totally prepped to spearhead the babcock meeting. Not just their financials. And you’re right about the cfo. I had done some digging and found some inside information about the guy. Likes, dislikes, quirks. And he’s got some doozies. So, I’ll proceed with those in mind.

Victoria: Why am I not surprised that you’ve already done research?

Nate: Because you know I’ll always have your back. So, of course, I know what’s on your calendar. I’ve been gathering intel so you’d be well armed.

Victoria: Excellent.

Nate: To have the power to change the course of this company… lives… the future. It’s intoxicating. Almost as intoxicating as the way you’re looking at me right now.

Audra: That sounded like you’ve gone a few rounds with a newman or two.

Kyle: Hm, more than a few. I don’t have a problem with most of them. Strong personalities, driven, know what they want. But when somebody crosses a line and somebody always does, things can get pretty extreme.

Audra: Well, coloring inside the lines never got anybody anywhere.

Kyle: Yeah, well, for the newman family, collateral damage is just part of the game, as long as they get what they want.

Audra: That fire can be productive. Or it can burn you.

Kyle: Speaking from experience?

Audra: Ah, let’s just say I’ve been singed more than a few times.

Kyle: You look like you recovered.

Audra: Yeah, you know, I– I used to let it get to me. I’d obsess over what could have been, should have been. But blew up. Maybe my fault. You know, maybe not. Then, you know, working with tucker mccall, you know, he was hardcore. Nothing would get in his way before he went all zen. At first I thought that made him soft, but then, you know, I realized that… that’s just given him more focus. Know what you want, hone in on it and the universe rewards you.

Kyle: So, you play nice and you get to go to the front of the line?

Audra: I didn’t say anything about playing nice.

Kyle: Hm.

Sharon: I go to sleep and cameron is in my dreams. I wake up and I flinch at every little noise. I worry about every delivery. And faith, it takes everything in me not to call her every hour on the hour to make sure that she’s okay.

Nick: Yeah, I’m right there with you. But I’m worried about you too, sharon. You can say you’re fine and that you’re processing it and that there’s nothing for me to worry about, but that ends now. Tell me what’s going on.

Sharon: I killed that man. And I watched him die. It still haunts me.

Nick: You did what you had to do to save your daughter’s life. To save all of us.

Sharon: I know. And I don’t regret that. How could I? But it still pushes me to places I don’t want to go. I just want to stop seeing him everywhere I look and I don’t know how to make that happen. And I am so angry that this bastard has this much control over my life. How do I move on? How do I find peace?

Nick: I don’t, uh, have an answer for that, but… I’m here. All right? I’m all in. For whatever you need.

Sharon: I have an idea. But you would have to get your hands dirty.

Nick: Whatever it takes. If you’re taking an antidepressant

Adam: Mccall needs to be lean and mean. I want to sell off our deadweight and keep anything that can be weaponized against our competitors. And there is only one. Newman media and I want to crush them. I’ll call you back. What?

Victor: I just got a call from nikki. She’s worried about you. And so am I.

[ Phone chiming ]

Nikki: What on earth?

Victoria: You know, one way that I would like to expand is to grow our global commercial real estate. We already have a very strong presence in asia and in the middle east, but I’m hearing about some very interesting eu opportunities.

Nate: Sounds intriguing.

Victoria: Mm-hmm. And, you know, now that my kids are gonna be away at boarding school, it’s gonna give me time this fall to do some more in-depth research.

Nate: So, a business trip?

Victoria: Yeah. That’s what the jet’s for.

[ Nate laughing ] And you know, I know that our last business trip didn’t really go as planned, I understand that, but that’s behind us. We’re free to be together now and… it’s not gonna be all about business. We’re gonna have to absorb the local culture to get a feel for the different marketplaces.

Nate: The food, the night life, you. My bag is already packed.

[ Door opening ]

Nikki: Sorry for the interruption.

Victoria: No. Not at all.

Nikki: Nate. Would you excuse us? I need to speak with victoria alone.

Victoria: Mother!

Nate: All good. All good. I need to prep for the babcock meeting. Nikki, I will get the quarterly account receivables to you for your review. I think you’ll be pleased with the numbers.

Nikki: I am sure I will be. Thank you. He’s meeting with babcock alone?

Victoria: He’s prepared, he’s enthusiastic, he has a great attitude, unlike you.

Nikki: Is your intention to keep nicholas away from newman enterprises for good? (Wheezing)

Victoria: Of course I’m not boxing nick out. Why would you think that?

Nikki: I just found out that you dissolved nicholas’ support team. Now he has barely stepped away, on your orders, temporarily, but now you seem to be making moves that will be more permanent.

Victoria: You don’t understand.

Nikki: No, I don’T. Why don’t you explain it to me?

Victoria: Mother, this is a very fast paced business. It’s constantly evolving. You have to stay one step ahead. It’s not as though I fired nicholas’ team. I’ve just reassigned them to different departments so that they’re not sitting around collecting paychecks, waiting for nick to return.

Nikki: Why not have them continue in the same capacity for nate? Help him get acquainted with his job as acting coo while nicholas is gone.

Victoria: No. No, nate doesn’t need his hand held. He’s done the work. He knows the position.

[ Nikki chuckling ]

Nikki: I’m sure he’s been studying up for weeks.

Victoria: He’s very hands on.

Nikki: Oh, I have no doubt.

Victoria: His drive and his energy and his focus. He’s made it clear that he wants to take on more of the workload. He wants to be fully involved.

Nikki: Are you suggesting that nicholas wasn’t?

Victoria: Nicholas has and continues to have all these outside distractions that keep him from giving the 110% and that’s what we expect at newman.

Nikki: Wow. You have an answer for everything. But this doesn’t feel like a business move. It feels personal. A way for you to strike out at your brother.

Victoria: Mother, it’s not personal. It’s necessary. Nick’s team has shown that they’re not on board with our current agenda. And I– I’m sorry, but I have no other choice.

Nikki: I don’t even know what that means.

Victoria: Like nick, his team doesn’t see adam or mccall as a threat. Nate is willing to go up against mccall. That’s the kind of leadership that I’m looking for in my coo.

Nikki: I see. Well, as your co-ceo, I’m going on record and warning you that I find this to be very aggressive and unnecessary.

Victoria: It’s just good business. I wish you could see the larger picture.

Nikki: Oh, I can see all too clearly, victoria.

Victoria: So, whatever it is, you’re dying to say it, so go ahead.

Nikki: Is all of this retaliation because nicholas warned you about nate?

Victoria: I told you my logic.

Nikki: This has nothing to do with logic. This is about ashland.

Victoria: Don’t be ridiculous!

Nikki: Nicholas warned you time and time again about him, but you refused to listen. And he was right. I think deep down, you’re worried that he’s right this time as well.

Nick: I hope that gave you some freedom.

Sharon: I should have said something.

Nick: For cameron?

Sharon: No. His victims. All the people he hurt, the deaths he caused, the damage he did. Like that woman who lives in los angeles. The one he assaulted. I hope she knows that cameron’s dead and that he can never hurt her again and that she has found peace.

Nick: And you?

Sharon: It might take a little while longer. It’s not just the fear. The space cameron’s taking up in my head, but it’s the guilt.

Nick: The guilt?

Sharon: I brought this maniac into our lives. Our daughter was kidnapped. She might’ve been killed. All because of one stupid choice I made years ago.

Nick: You cannot blame yourself.

Sharon: How can I not? Faith, you know, as strong as she was through this ordeal, this is going to mark her. All of us. In ways we can’t even know yet. All of the psychology classes and degrees in the world can’t give me that answer.

Nick: You already know the answer. It’s love. You and faith are not alone in this. You have me and mariah and tessa and noah. So many people who love you both and will be there for you no matter what.

Sharon: We’re here for you, too.

Nick: Luckiest guy in the world.

[ Nick sighing ] You don’t want cameron’s business. Let’s get rid of this. Let’s throw it away and be done with it and cameron forever.

Sharon: Nick, wait. Watching all that misery turn to ash gave me an idea.

Audra: Newman media was an early adopter of ai. You know, but if we really ramp up, increase focus on using it as a distribution tool, set up algorithms to select content for our users, I mean, it could be a gamechanger for our metrics. Oh, I’m sorry. I’m probably boring you.

Kyle: That would be impossible.

Audra: You know, I– I’ve wanted this for so long. You know, to be at the table, just making decisions that can change everything. And it’s– it’s actually happening.

Kyle: I’m excited for you.

Audra: I’m excited for me, too. And I don’t know how long I’ll be ceo, but I’m going to light newman up every minute I’m there.

Kyle: No coloring in the lines for you.

Audra: Oh, no. The brighter, the bigger, the better. Uh, what’s wrong?

Kyle: Oh, you know, all this talk about coloring outside the lines has inspired me.

Audra: Okay?

Kyle: It’s a beautiful morning. Perfect time to live in the now.

Audra: If you’re gonna ask me something, you should just ask me. (Buzz) are you guys telling secrets?

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue. What can you do with sensitive skin?

Kyle: We don’t have time for what I want to ask you.

Audra: Good. Because the answer would be no.

Kyle: Oh, the big meeting.

Audra: Lots of them.

Kyle: Okay. How about later?

Audra: You are so–

Kyle: Charming? Irresistible?

Audra: Relentless.

Kyle: I’ll take it.

Audra: Put in your number. If I have time, I’ll call you.

Kyle: If you have time. There you go.

Audra: Don’t get your hopes up.

Kyle: You’ll call.

Audra: Oh.

[ Audra chuckling ]

Victor: I gotta tell you, I am deeply sympathetic and so is nikki to both of you and sally. Loss of a child is just unimaginable.

Adam: If you say it’s better this way or if everything happens for a reason, I’m out of here.

Victor: Son, I’m just here to find out how you’re coping. And I wanna know if there’s anything we can do to help you.

Adam: [ Sighing ] I’m– I’m good.

Victor: No, you’re not. Be honest with me. You and sally are going through hell right now.

Adam: The only time you’ve said sally’s name was like a curse. So, now you care about sally?

Victor: Son, I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. Not on my worst enemy. And I saw the joy on her face, and the joy on your face, anticipating the birth of your child.

Adam: Well, good news for you, she never wants to see me again. So, I guess you can take the win on this one, okay? Nikki already gave me the “don’t be angry” talk. She said let it go. Focus on connor. On the people who love me. I mean, what a laugh that is, right? Not exactly a popular guy these days. I mean, not ever, come to think about it. But at least I have my work, right? Is that where I should thank you?

Victor: I don’t want you to thank me. I’m here to tell you how to best get over your grief. You should throw all of your energies, all of your mental capacity into building mccall into the powerhouse it can be.

Adam: Yes. And the potential’s there.

Victor: Yes.

Adam: So, first, we clean house. And anyone who is loyal to tucker’s gonna get a severance package. And then we’re gonna focus on infrastructure. The entertainment divisions are gonna stay. Anything else is gonna be jettisoned and we’re gonna use that profit to focus on horizontal diversification. Specifically, the media divisions.

Victor: So, you’re gonna go after newman.

Adam: It’s good to have goals, right?

Victor: That doesn’t mean that you go after the newman media division.

Adam: I built that company. I made it. And I want it back.

Victor: Is that what this is about?

Adam: Pretty much.

Victor: Or, is it about you wanting to recapture the wonderful days you had with sally at newman media? Hm?

Adam: I appreciate the armchair analysis, but this is strictly about business.

Victor: Let me tell you something. Trying to recapture those days is a mistake. And so is attacking newman media.

Adam: I think that it is brilliant.

Victor: My boy… newman media is part of the newman family portfolio. Don’t mess with that.

Nick: So, you’re interested in cameron’s company?

Sharon: Not so much his company.

Nick: You lost me.

Sharon: What I could do with it. Kirsten incorporated is a tech company. It must have assets and some capital, right?

Nick: I’m sure it has some value. Unless it imploded during kirsten’s years in prison.

Sharon: What if I could take that value and make something good out of this nightmare? There has to be something that I can do with this that would make a difference in people’s lives. Either turning a profit with the company or maybe selling it out right. Donating all the proceeds to charity.

Nick: I like the sound of that.

Sharon: Who knows? Maybe if I take control of cameron’s company, I take back the power he has over me and my life. My actions, my reactions. Instead of running away from who cameron was and what he did, I will transform that hate and anger and fear into an opportunity to help people.

Nick: You just thought of that right now?

Sharon: Maybe I’ve been thinking about it for a long time. You know, the past few years have made me consider what I want out of my life. What my purpose is. And rey was an influence in that. You know, he always made the right choice, even if it was unpopular. He wanted to make a difference every single day and he did so. And now I want that. I’m ready for that. And you’re right. It has everything to do with love. I have been so blessed all my life with so much love. Such an amazing support system of friends and family who have been there for me through everything. Battling cancer, learning how to live with bipolar and now… this horror with cameron. As much as he terrorized me, maybe the gift of this nightmare is that I have found the strength that I’d forgotten I have.

Nick: I think you’re one of the strongest people I know.

Sharon: Well, I lost myself. For a little while there, I did some things, I hurt some people, but I own that. And those things made me who I am, but they are not all I am. And maybe this… is a gift. It’s time for a new direction. It’s time for a new future. With downy infusions,

Victoria: How could you bring up ashland?

Nikki: It seems very appropriate given the circumstances.

Victoria: My god, mom! Every time I do something that you and dad don’t approve of, it’s like you throw that name at me! It’s almost like you enjoy rubbing that awful mistake in my face.

Nikki: The only reason I mentioned it was to try to get through to you.

Victoria: Well,

[ Sighing ] Message received. If there’s nothing else, I have a very full day today.

Nikki: Victoria, I am just trying to understand. You’ve forced nicholas to take a leave of absence he doesn’t want, you got rid of his staff and now you seem to be preparing for and all-out war with adam.

Victoria: A war that he’s starting.

Nikki: You have a responsibility to the board, young lady, and the family.

Victoria: I know that!

Nikki: Oh, do you? You’ve alienated nicholas, you’re going after adam. And nate is just cheering you on.

Victoria: Nate is supporting me. Which is a lot more than I can say about my own family right now!

Nikki: How do you think your father is going to react to this?

Victoria: If he would listen me instead of jumping to conclusions and judging me, maybe we could have a conversation about it.

Nate: Sorry to interrupt. The meeting with babcock is set. I wanted to brief you. And you, nikki, as well, of course.

Nikki: I have work to do. Victoria can fill me in. Excuse me.

Nate: Your mother’s not too pleased with the changes.

Victoria: Well, if you’re not pissing people off, then you’re not doing it right.

[ Knocking at door ] Come in.

Audra: Hi, I know you’re crazy busy, but I wanted to give you an update on some new directives that I want to put in place for, uh, newman media. Building off of nate’s plans.

Nate: Time for a quick meeting?

Victoria: Sure. I don’t see why not. Let’s see what you’ve learned from your boss.

Adam: Look, I’m your son, I’m not your puppet.

Victor: I’m concerned about you.

Adam: Well, you shouldn’t be, okay? I’m fine. Especially if people stop telling me how to act, how to feel, what to think, okay? Because I’ve never been clearer on what I want and how to get it.

Victor: Son, you’re running on emotions. That’s not a good thing. When you’re trying to rebuild a company into the powerhouse that it can be. Let me give you a piece of advice. Whenever you make a business decision, keep emotions out of it.

Adam: Okay, well, thank you for the advice that I didn’t need, but I’m gonna run mccall the way that I see fit.

[ Victor sighing ]

Victor: Always a smart alec, right? I offered to be your sounding board. I offered for you to take advantage of the vast experience I have in building companies. That can change in an instant. Don’t forget that.

Adam: So, are you threatening me, now?

Victor: You take that any way you want. But I’m telling you… I’m not your enemy. I’m the biggest supporter you have. Don’t mess with it.

Kyle: Gerard? It’s kyle abbott. I’d like to have some flowers delivered. No! No, not to marchetti. These are for an audra charles. She’s staying at the athletic club. Uh, I’m thinking… something a little wild and gorgeous, unique. That sounds good. And the note, um… “from one overachiever to another, thanks for showing me your moves.” No– no name. She’ll know. Oh, gerrard. Um… I’d like some earrings as well. I’m thinking diamonds. Yes. Just charge it to my account. Thanks.

Victoria: You have really done your homework. Not that I would expect anything less.

Nate: Out of the park, audra. I’m looking forward to these next steps.

Audra: I plan to blow you away. All right, well, I have the crawford pictures meeting to prep for, but I’ll keep you updated.

Nate: Thank you again for taking on those negotiations. They are going to love you.

Audra: That’s the goal.

Victoria: Good work, audra. Thank you.

Audra: Thank you.

Nate: That one is gold. The fire, the energy, the drive. And the creativity? I couldn’t ask for a better acting ceo at newman media.

Victoria: Well, she’s definitely on the top of her game, but she’s only there because you put her there.

Nate: I am very excited for this next phase of newman media and newman enterprises. I think the restructuring will make all the difference.

Victoria: And with audra doing so beautifully at newman media, we are free to focus on making sure that mccall is nothing but misery for adam.

Nikki: Oh, I hope I’m not interrupting.

Victor: Hi, sweetheart.

Nikki: Hi.

Adam: Uh, no. We just finished. Good chat.

Victor: All right, son.

Adam: As always.

Nikki: Well, I’m glad you were able to catch up with adam. How was he?

[ Victor exhaling ]

Victor: He’s stuffing down his anger and his grief. No good. It’ll backfire. And then he wants to take down newman media. And that’s a very bad combination.

Nikki: I’m almost as worried about victoria.

Victor: Why?

Nikki: She has completely sidelined nicholas. Restructured his support team to suit nate. She’s getting ready to go to battle with tucker mccall, again, with nate’s backing. I mean, he is feeding her sense of power and she will not listen to anyone else.

Victor: Oh, boy. Oh, boy. That means that victoria and adam are aiming for a head-on collision.

Nick: You know, all the years I’ve known you, sharon, one thing never changes. You always manage to surprise me.

Sharon: Well, get ready. Because I have no idea what the future holds, but it’s going to surprise me, too. I can’t wait to share this with mariah and tessa. Not just the idea, but this very moment. The shift from fear to empowerment. Going from being afraid, wanting to hide and stay safe, to… trusting myself. And following my instincts, wherever they lead. Finding that strength that was always there. I want to teach them that there is always a way to come back from those dark moments. Not just come back, but flourish. Everything changes now.
