Days of Our Lives Update

EJ brings flowers to the cliff where Susan died. EJ paces and holds back tears as he looks over the cliff. EJ then pulls out a flask from his jacket and begins drinking. EJ remains sitting at the cliff in to the night until Rafe arrives and says he thought he might find him here.

Eric goes to see Marlena at her home. They wish each other a Happy Thanksgiving. Eric comes in and asks about the doll on the mantle. Marlena explains that it was a gift from Susan as she was just thinking about her. Eric says he’s sorry to hear the news as he knows they were close. Marlena is sorry she couldn’t host Thanksgiving today but she just didn’t feel like it. Eric says he had a good time at the Pub and he wanted to share some news that he’s very thankful for. Eric then announces to Marlena that he’s going to be a dad which surprises her.

Nicole goes to Jada’s room. Jada tells her that if she’s looking for Eric, he’s out. Nicole responds that she actually came to see her.

Maggie goes to Sarah and Xander’s hotel room to bring them Thanksgiving leftovers. Maggie hoped they might join them for dinner. Sarah says she did too but Xander wasn’t feeling well and stayed in bed all day. Maggie says she’s sorry to hear that and asks where Xander is.

Xander goes to see Gwen at the Horton House. Gwen assures that they are alone since Jack is in New York, visiting Jennifer and Chad took the kids to go see them while Doug and Julie have been asleep for hours. Gwen comments that Xander looks terrible. Xander says he feels terrible and doesn’t know what to do as he feels like his whole life is going to go up in smoke. Gwen asks him to calm down and tell her the whole story.

Marlena tells Eric that she knows how much he’s always wanted a child of his own and calls it wonderful news. Eric questions her hesitation and says it’s okay as he knows she’s thinking that he and Jada hardly know each other and it wasn’t planned which is all true, but she has decided to keep the baby. Marlena asks if he’s okay with that decision. Eric calls it complicated and adds that Kate, of all people, helped Jada with the decision. Marlena questions Eric saying it’s complicated. Eric responds that it’s because of Nicole.

Jada tells Nicole that it’s been a long day and she’s pretty tired. Nicole brings up Jada being in her first trimester and comments that it looked like she was having a nice Thanksgiving dinner. Jada questions how she knows. Nicole admits that she stopped by earlier and saw them, but couldn’t help overhear that Eric said they were going to raise the baby together. Jada questions why Nicole didn’t say anything. Nicole says she didn’t want to interrupt and she was afraid that she would spoil the heartwarming moment by bringing up that Eric broke up with Jada a few days ago to be with her.

Rafe tells EJ that he went by his home and the staff said he had gone out and since he’s been ignoring his calls, he figured he would try to track him down. EJ mocks his detective skills. Rafe reminds him that he’s going to need his statement. EJ comments on Ava and Susan going over the rail and perishing in a rage of fire. EJ adds that Rafe already knows most of it. EJ explains that when he met up with Ava to pay the ransom, she lied and said that Susan was dead but then Susan turned up at the airstrip. EJ says Ava grabbed Susan and dragged her off at gunpoint, so he pursued in his car but Ava swerved hard and now his mother is gone and dead.

Eric tells Marlena that he never meant to lead Jada on. Marlena agrees that’s not who he is. Eric brings up that Jada saw he and Nicole kissing which is why she decided that she wanted to end their relationship. Marlena asks how he feels about it. Eric says he doesn’t blame her and never told her what to do about the pregnancy. Marlena asks if Eric wants the baby. Eric says of course he does and points out that people co-parent without living together all the time, so they just have to figure out a way to make it work together. Eric states that he and Nicole can be together like they want but he and Jada have to figure out how to raise this child. Eric hopes that Nicole can understand.

Jada questions if Nicole is here to give her hell about ruining her happily ever after with Eric. Nicole says no. Jada asks if she’s here to make sure she understands that her co-parenting with Eric will never lead to anything else. Jada argues that she has enough self-respect to not want to be with a man who is in love with someone else and Eric knows that. Jada assumes Eric’s intentions towards Nicole hasn’t changed but she’ll have to take that up with him. Nicole apologizes and says she and Eric never meant for this to happen or for Jada and Rafe to get hurt. Jada then cuts her off and tells her to shut the hell up.

Rafe asks why he gets the feeling that EJ is still not telling him the whole story. EJ claims he doesn’t know. Rafe says this feels extreme even for Ava. EJ feels whatever drove Ava this far is more than a deal she made with EJ to leave town. EJ asks who knows what drives a lunatic like Ava. Rafe complains that EJ is hindering his investigation, so he could arrest him for obstructing justice but he won’t after everything he’s been through. EJ tells Rafe that he appreciates that and offers him a drink from his flask which Rafe accepts.

Xander assumes Gwen has heard the news about Ava and Susan. Gwen confirms that she has and that the Spectator is all over it. Xander says it all went horribly wrong. Xander explains how Bonnie stumbled upon where he was keeping Susan and then Justin came home, so he knew it was only a matter of time before Justin found them. Xander says he should’ve taken that as a sign and ended the whole thing but he wanted his pay day, so he managed to move Susan right before they found Bonnie. Xander states that Bonnie is alright, but Susan wasn’t nearly as lucky.

Sarah tells Maggie that Xander went out for air and hopefully he’ll be back soon and feel like eating. Maggie points out there were a lot of leftovers since no one had much of an appetite tonight. Sarah asks how come. Maggie reminds her of the drama with Bonnie. Maggie is thankful Bonnie is alright but points out how upset she got when Rafe was questioning her. Sarah guesses Victor got on Bonnie’s case and ruined Thanksgiving. Maggie explains that as soon as they sat down, Bonnie was having flashbacks of the creepy clown and got startled, so she spilled her wine in to the gravy and it was all downhill from there. Sarah asks if the police have any leads on Ava’s accomplice. Maggie responds that all they have is Bonnie’s description of a muscle bound man in a clown mask and a blue business suit. Sarah points out the blue business suit part and then picks up Xander’s suit, asking if it was kind of like this one.

EJ didn’t expect Rafe to take a drink, joking that he’s drinking on the job. Rafe responds that it’s been a hell of a rough week. Rafe says it’s nothing compared to what EJ is going through, but he and Nicole are getting divorced. EJ says he’s sorry to hear that. Rafe thought EJ would be gloating since he hates them. EJ guesses he’s not in the gloating mood and asks what happened. EJ then stops and guesses it has something to do with Eric.

Eric tells Marlena that he thought he had come to terms with not becoming a father and then there was the heartbreaking loss of Mackenzie. Eric knows he has nieces, nephews, and Holly but he feels like fate has intervened and says it’s not too much to hope that all things can work out. Marlena guesses Eric hasn’t told Nicole yet about Jada wanting to keep the baby. Eric confirms he hasn’t and knows it’s a sensitive subject since he and Nicole wanted to have a baby together, but Nicole can’t have children. Eric hopes that Nicole doesn’t feel threatened by this baby.

Jada argues that Nicole is not sorry as she got exactly what she wanted. Jada tells Nicole not to pretend to feel bad for her or like she cares about her since her fake sympathy just makes it worse. Nicole says she’s sorry. Jada tells Nicole to imagine being in her shoes where she just moved to town and meets a man who is divorced like she is and his ex-wife is seemingly happily remarried. Jada talks about how it seemed like Eric really liked her and she really liked him so she thinks everything is great but then suddenly, his ex-wife keeps finding reasons to show up at his door and even gives him a job while swearing there’s nothing going on between them until one day, she shows up at his office and sees him locking lips with his ex. Jada cries that later that day, she finds out she’s pregnant with his baby, so she’s tied to him for life. Nicole notes that she seems really angry. Jada asks why the hell she wouldn’t be. Nicole admits she would be too. Nicole questions why Jada would want to have a baby that ties her to Eric forever if this is how she feels.

Xander tells Gwen that so many times he could’ve ended it but he was greedy and cowardly. Gwen understands that Ava can be extremely scare. Xander tells Gwen that Ava is insane as she was working out of the DiMera Crypt. Xander says he went in there yesterday and caught her talking to the walls. Xander adds that it only got worse from there as Ava finally lost it and ordered him to kill Susan which shocks Gwen, who asks what he said to that. Xander says he refused but then Ava ripped his mask off to give him more incentive so that everyone would know what he had done if he didn’t kill Susan. Xander states that he couldn’t bring himself to disappoint Sarah yet again, so he let Susan go. Gwen asks what happened then. Xander doesn’t know as somehow Ava got Susan back, the ransom hand off went bad and turned in to a a car chase as Ava ended up driving off a cliff. Gwen insists that this is not Xander’s fault as he tried to help Susan escape, pointing out that he was not driving the car. Xander argues that it is his fault for agreeing to take Susan because if he hadn’t, she would still be alive.

Maggie questions what Sarah is talking about. Sarah points out that Xander’s suit is blue and says a lot of things are starting to add up which Maggie questions. Sarah informs her that last night, Xander told her that he quit his job because his boss asked him to do something that was very wrong. Sarah adds that he was vague but he did say his boss was a woman. Maggie questions if she thinks that Xander was working for Ava. Sarah notes that Xander’s sickness came on suddenly as soon as heard Susan and Ava had died. Sarah says she loves Xander but he was under a lot of pressure to get this job and he is the type of person that Ava would hire to do something like this. Maggie argues that Xander is not that man anymore. Sarah says she didn’t think so either. Maggie questions her suspicion all of a sudden. Sarah says it just doesn’t feel right. Maggie doesn’t think it sounds so strange to her. Sarah asks what about the fact that the kidnapper had Bonnie and Susan in the Kiriakis shed where Xander used to work. Sarah adds that Victor said he never heard of the company Xander was working for, so maybe he made it up because he was working for Ava Vitali.

Rafe confirms to EJ that he and Nicole are getting divorced because of Eric and asks how he knew. EJ responds that everyone knew Nicole and Eric were destined to be together as it seemed like every time they separated, they always found a way to come back to each other. EJ adds that he once thought he and Sami had that kind of connection, but clearly he was mistaken. Rafe is not sure how unbreakable Nicole and Eric’s connection is since it seems like there is already trouble in paradise…

Marlena tells Eric that the baby complicates things between he and Nicole, so she thinks he has to address this with her very soon. Eric confirms that’s where he was heading next. Marlena knows it will be a difficult conversation to have and it could get complicated, but encourages that they have been through so much together and they love each other, so she knows they will find a way to work this out together. Eric thanks her as they hug.

Jada cannot believe Nicole questioned her keeping the baby. Nicole knows she resents her and says she’s just trying to give her some perspective. Nicole says she has been a single mother for years and her daughter was a surprise but she loves her with her whole heart. Nicole argues that she wouldn’t want to go in to parenting with a negative attitude. Jada argues that she didn’t ask for her perspective. Nicole wishes someone had warned her or painted a realistic picture of motherhood for her. Jada questions what the hell that’s supposed to mean. Nicole warns Jada that babies change your life forever, so she needs to decide before it’s too late if she’s ready for this change and somethings he really wants. Nicole asks if Jada has even considered how this would affect her career. Jada responds that Rafe told her that she can take leave any time she wants. Nicole questions how much of that leave will be paid and points out that before she has the baby, she’ll be spending a lot of time behind a desk which has to be a set back for a young, ambitious detective. Jada tells her that’s enough. Nicole adds that when Jada does go back to work, she willl be exhausted all the time and crying over guilt from trying to put her whole heart in to both work and the baby which will leave her feeling bitter and depressed. Nicole acknowledges that Eric will be there for her, but even with that support, she calls it the hardest thing she’s ever done. Nicole points out that she’s going to be in Eric’s life now, which means she’s going to be in Jada’s life, so she’s trying to figure out a way to work this out and help her. Jada yells at her to get out and opens the door so Nicole exits.

Gwen repeats to Xander that this was not his fault since Ava promised that Susan would not get hurt. Xander feels stupid for believing her. Gwen argues that she knew Ava, so she thinks that Ava was telling the truth when she hired him, but it took a horrible turn and if Xander knew how it would turn out, he never would have taken the job. Xander admits when he let Susan go, he thought there was a chance that she would go straight to the cops, so he almost confessed to Sarah but then he remembered when Susan was begging for her life, she promised to keep her mouth shut so he thought by some miracle, she might not say anything so he didn’t tell Sarah. Xander says he just told Sarah that he quit his job, but then he saw the news and he got his miracle since Susan will never talk to anyone ever again. Gwen insists that Xander didn’t want Susan to die and he let her go. Xander complains that he still grabbed her, tied her up, and drugged her, so he’s not a changed man. Xander declares that he’s the same worthless piece of garbage that he’s always been. Gwen disagrees since his intentions were good and honorable as this was about him being a good husband and provider. Xander worries that he has no choice but to tell the truth. Gwen reminds him that Ava and Susan are dead while Bonnie never saw it was him and she’s not going to say anything. Xander asks if she means that. Gwen points out that she could have given him up the other night, but she didn’t and she won’t. Xander brings up everything they have been through. Gwen tells him that she still cares about him and she understands him probably better than anyone which she’s pretty sure is why he is here. Gwen points out that he trusted her with his secret, so she promises his secret is safe with her.

Maggie admits to Sarah that she was skeptical about Xander’s honesty when he first got this job because he wasn’t giving any details. Sarah questions just believing him now. Maggie thinks Sarah is letting her imagination run wild in this case. Maggie says that Xander has a blue suit but so does a million other men. Maggie adds that Ava was in the mafia, so she’s sure she had a dozen muscle bound enforcers on her payroll. Maggie brings up that she’s been married to a changed man for a very long time. Maggie never likes when people plant seeds of doubt regarding Victor’s behavior or honesty. Maggie encourages that the key to the truth is to trust her husband is being honest with her, unless she has overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Sarah asks if Maggie thinks Xander is being honest. Maggie responds that she thinks Xander loves her more than anything and now that he has her back, she doesn’t think he would do anything to risk losing her again. Maggie decides she needs to get home to Victor. Sarah thanks her for the food as they hug. Maggie promises that everything will be alright as she exits.

EJ questions Rafe saying there’s trouble in paradise between Eric and Nicole. They get interrupted as Rafe gets a phone call, so he answers and says he’ll be right there. Rafe informs EJ that he has to get back to the station and asks if he can persuade him to come with him. EJ agrees to go tomorrow, but tonight he’s going to sit here and wallow. Rafe asks EJ to promise he won’t get behind the wheel. EJ assures that his driver is parked nearby. Rafe advises EJ to be careful of the turn. EJ remarks that he doesn’t want to end up like his mother. Rafe then walks away.

Rafe goes to the police station where Jada is working. Rafe questions what Jada is doing there since she didn’t have the holiday shift. Jada responds that she wanted to catch up on paper work and clear her head. Rafe asks if she’s okay. Jada says it’s just been a day. Jada notices that Rafe is not wearing his wedding ring. Rafe informs her that he and Nicole are getting divorced. Jada says she’s sorry. Rafe figured there’s no point in dragging it out, even if Nicole doesn’t go back to Eric because of Jada’s pregnancy. Jada assures that her pregnancy will not be an issue..

Nicole runs in to Eric in the town square. Eric hugs her and says he’s so happy to see her as he was just trying to call her about meeting up. Eric wanted to tell her that Jada has decided to have the baby, but insists it won’t change anything between them. Nicole asks if he’s sure. Eric knows it’s a lot and it’s all happening at once, but assures that they can handle it as they always find a way to make things work. Eric states that he and Jada’s relationship is over and they are going to co-parent but that’s it. Eric tells Nicole that he loves her and only her. Eric promises it will be okay as he hugs her.

Rafe asks if Jada has made a decision about the baby. Jada responds that she was going to go through with the pregnancy until she had time to think about it and consider what her life would really be like if she did. Jada reveals that she’s realized that she can’t do it after all.

Xander goes home to Sarah, who asks if he is feeling better. Xander responds that he is and the fresh air did him good. Sarah is glad and notes that he was out in the cold for so long that he must be freezing. Xander notes that something smells good. Sarah informs him that Maggie brought them leftovers if he has his appetite. Xander confirms that he is starving and says he will get things unpacked. Sarah comments on Xander’s blue suit, so he asks if something is wrong. Sarah says she was just thinking that maybe over dinner, he could tell her if he was the clown that kidnapped Bonnie and Susan.

Marlena sits at home reading a book and is startled when her doll from Susan suddenly falls off the mantle. Marlena picks the doll up and calls it strange, wondering how that happened.

EJ finishes drinking at the cliff and gets up to walk away when he hears a noise. EJ calls out for his mother as he looks in the direction of the sound.

Days of Our Lives Update

Stephanie goes to the Kiriakis Mansion where Alex has set up a candle lit dinner. Stephanie is pleasantly surprised as she asks about him saying there was a work emergency. Alex responds that there is because it’s Thanksgiving and she’s been working way too hard. Alex adds that she also promised him a second date, so this is it.

Rafe continues cooking Thanksgiving dinner and thinks back to Nicole making the pie before saying goodbye. Rafe then takes the pie and dumps it in the trash.

Nicole walks past the Brady Pub and thinks back to overhearing Eric announce that he and Jada are looking forward to raising their child together. Nicole then turns and walks away.

After Thanksgiving dinner, Jada asks Eric if she should help Roman and Kate clean up. Eric says that they have it covered and reminds her that she’s pregnant. Jada jokes that she’s still working as a badass police detective. Eric thinks it was Roman and Kate’s way of giving them time to talk which Jada admits she picked up on too. Eric assures that she can sit back and relax with another piece of pie. Eric tells Jada how much he appreciates that she stayed for Thanksgiving dinner and he hopes it wasn’t too awkward. Jada admits it was a little but it was nice and better than being alone on the holidays.

EJ listens to his voicemail from Rafe, asking to set up a time to record EJ’s statement. EJ deletes the message and resumes drinking at home.

Alex tells Stephanie that he knows her parents are in Seattle with Tripp, so he can’t have her spending Thanksgiving all alone. They both feel terrible for Tripp. Stephanie mentions being at the police station earlier so Alex asks how Chanel is doing. Stephanie says she’s hanging in and that Abe was able to pull some strings so that he, Allie, and Paulina were able to have Thanksgiving dinner with Chanel. Alex says he’s glad. Stephanie asks if Alex didn’t already eat with his family. Alex says he did but it was a mess because Bonnie is still traumatized over Ava and Susan and keeps going on about how easily she could’ve been killed too. Stephanie points out that she wasn’t thanks to Alex and Justin.

Marlena goes to the DiMera Mansion to see EJ and offer her condolences to him and Johnny. EJ tells her that Johnny is out of town, so he hasn’t spoken to him yet. Marlena asks if he doesn’t know about Susan then. EJ doesn’t think so and he has no idea how he’s going to tell him, especially since this is all his fault.

Li and Gabi sit together at Rafe’s. Li asks what he can expect from a Hernandez family dinner. Gabi responds that it’s just going to be them and Rafe, so it will be low key. Rafe comes in with food and says low key is good, so there’s no drama for a change. Rafe gets them beers. Li thanks Rafe for inviting him. Rafe responds that Li is going to be family. Rafe asks where Arianna is. Gabi informs him that she stayed over with Sonny. Rafe mentions making her favorite cornbread. Gabi says Arianna wanted to watch a Christmas movie with Holly and asks if Rafe is upset. Rafe says no and it’s just that if Nicole and Holly were here, it wouldn’t be an issue. Gabi calls Nicole a ridiculously fickle person who doesn’t realize what a stupid decision she made. Gabi swears that Nicole will one day regret leaving Rafe for Eric.

Eric and Jada joke about her eating for two. Eric tells Jada that he’s really happy that she decided to keep the baby. Eric promises to be there for the baby and to be a good dad. Eric talks about never thinking he would be a father since his life went a different direction and he became a priest. Eric asks if Jada always wanted to be a mom. Jada says her and her ex-husband talked about it but they were so busy with their careers that they put it off and she’s glad they did since the marriage didn’t last. Jada adds that they could’ve co-parented like she and Eric are going to do but it would’ve been really complicated. Eric assures that they are going to make this work. Jada says she believes that, but she can’t help but wonder how Nicole is going to feel about this and what she’s going to say about her decision to keep the baby.

Nicole walks through the town square and runs in to Abe and Paulina. They greet each other and wish a Happy Thanksgiving. Nicole asks about Chanel. Paulina says the bail didn’t come through in time for the holiday but Abe and Allie made a Thanksgiving feast for them to share with Chanel at the police station. Nicole is sure she was grateful. Abe asks about Nicole and Holly’s Thanksgiving. Nicole tells him that Holly had her feast with Maggie and her family while she was supposed to host a gathering with Rafe but they are getting divorced now. Abe says he’s sorry to hear that. Nicole hates hurting Rafe and talks about packing her things at his place which was pretty tense. Nicole adds that Rafe let her help out by baking her mom’s pie. Paulina invites Nicole to join them for leftovers. Abe calls it a chance to catch up which Nicole accepts.

Alex tells Stephanie that he wasn’t exactly a hero as he just walked in to the shed with Justin and found Bonnie. Stephanie points out that he didn’t know what he was walking in to as the freak in the clown mask could have been in there. Alex wonders if they will ever find the guy. Stephanie is confident that he would protect her. Alex and Stephanie prepare to begin their meal. Stephanie says she thought she was going to spend her Thanksgiving alone with a frozen dinner but now her Thanksgiving is truly complete.

Marlena questions how EJ could possibly be responsible for Susan’s death since she understands that Ava kidnapped her and drove the car off the road. EJ explains that Ava did all that to get back at him and punish him for what he did to her. Marlena asks what he did. EJ informs her that he found out Ava and Jake’s marriage wasn’t real and she faked the whole thing as part of some scheme with Gabi, so he exposed her and took back all her shares at DiMera, leaving her with nothing. Marlena argues that Ava can’t possibly blame him for that since she was committing fraud. EJ admits that he didn’t stop there as he banished her from Salem. EJ explains that Johnny was starting to develop feelings for Ava and he didn’t want her anywhere near his son, so he threatened her with prison time but she didn’t comply and came back to kidnap Susan. EJ adds that Ava demanded a huge ransom and he arrogantly thought he could out maneuver her, but all he did was provoke her further and now his mother is dead. Marlena encourages him not to blame himself for this. EJ asks how he couldn’t and blames his ego and refusal to relinquish control being what got Susan killed, just like it got Abigail killed. EJ states that he thought he could handle Clyde on his own and was biding his time to get his revenge but now Abigail is dead because of it and it easily could’ve been Belle instead. Marlena confirms that Belle told her but says there’s no way that EJ is responsible for what Clyde or Ava did. EJ feels that he is responsible for his own action. EJ argues that he should’ve told Chad right away that Clyde threatened their family, but instead of sharing what he knew and trusting his own brother so they could neutralize the threat, he was prideful and selfish and now Chad is a widower. EJ says with Clyde, he didn’t speak up and with Ava, he didn’t listen when Tony begged him to pay the ransom. EJ complains that both times it had to be all about him and two innocent women paid the price. EJ admits that Tony warned him that Ava was dangerous and unpredictable, but he had to win. EJ says he was playing stupid games while Susan was locked up somewhere, scared out of her mind. Marlena encourages that he did the best he could. EJ disagrees and cries that he let down the one person who loved him unconditionally for his whole life. EJ adds that he could’ve saved her but he didn’t. Marlena argues that Susan would never want to see him punish himself like this. EJ says maybe she’s right, but he was a terrible son and Susan deserved so much better.

Alex and Stephanie continue their meal together.

Gabi assumes that Nicole is spending Thanksgiving with Eric. Rafe responds that he’s not sure as she didn’t say what her plans were when she was there earlier. Gabi is surprised to hear that and questions why Nicole was there. Rafe explains that she came to pack some of her things and she made a pumpkin pie. Gabi questions Nicole dumping him for another man and thinking that baking is going to make things better. Rafe admits that he did throw it in the trash after she left. Li questions there being no pie. Rafe acknowledges that Nicole was just trying to help as she feels guilty. Gabi argues that Nicole should feel guilty since she broke Rafe’s heart and now she’s going to live happily ever after with Eric, but Rafe says maybe not.

Eric assures Jada that Nicole knows how much he’s wanted a child, so she’ll be okay with it. Jada asks if he’s sure about that since the man she’s in love with is having a baby with another woman. Jada questions how that can’t be hard. Eric admits it won’t be easy but he’ll make it clear that it won’t affect their relationship and she’ll definitely be supportive. Eric questions Jada doubting that. Jada says she’s not trying to throw shade, but the Nicole that she has seen is incredibly insecure and territorial, so there is no way she’s going to take this news in stride.

Abe and Paulina point out that Nicole isn’t eating much. Abe asks if something is wrong. Nicole informs them that before she ran in to them, she had gotten some upsetting news. Abe asks what happened. Nicole reveals that Jada is pregnant with Eric’s baby which surprises them. Nicole adds that Jada found out around the same time that Eric was breaking up with Jada to be with her. Paulina calls that unfortunate timing. Nicole explains that she walked in on Eric and Jada telling Roman and Kate that they were going to raise the baby together. Paulina calls that a big decision that ties them together. Paulina asks what Eric said about their relationship. Nicole says she ran out of there before he saw her, but it seemed pretty clear that Eric is going to dump her to stay with Jada and the baby.

EJ talks about how he must have been a great disappointment to his mother since she worked so hard to mold him in to a good person but all she got was an egotistical, ruthless son of a bitch. Marlena assures that he was never a disappointment to his mother and that she was so proud of him. Marlena encourages that Susan loved him so much. Marlena talks about EJ being the center of Susan’s life from the day he was born. EJ talks about how Susan could be scared of her own shadow, but when it came to protecting her family, she was fearless. Marlena says you never want to underestimate a mother’s love for her child.

Rafe reveals to Gabi and Li that Jada is pregnant with Eric’s baby. Gabi laughs at it as Nicole getting what she deserves. Rafe argues that there’s a baby involved, so this is a tough situation for Jada. Gabi thinks it could be a great situation since Jada and Eric could get together again, leaving Nicole with no one which would make her happy. Li knows Gabi is trying to be supportive of Rafe but he’s not sure this is helping. Gabi asks if she’s the only one seeing the bigger picture here. Gabi decides she’s going to send Eric and Jada a baby gift but Rafe says no and adds that’s not something you do until a baby shower. Rafe declares they are not going to gloat. Rafe points out that it’s Thanksgiving, so he doesn’t want to be thinking about his soon to be ex-wife. Rafe suggests focusing on happier things. Li brings up their upcoming wedding. Gabi decides she’d rather talk about them anyway. Rafe then makes a toast to Gabi and Li, saying he’s really happy for them.

Nicole really thought she and Eric were finally going to be together and put all their troubles behind them. Paulina says she’s sorry that it’s such a mess. Nicole talks about Eric always wanting children so much, so she thinks he will feel like he owes it to the child to stay with the mother. Nicole brings up Eric and Sami coming from a broken home, so he won’t want the baby to become another Sami. Abe tells Nicole that she needs to talk to Eric about this. Nicole says she would’ve liked to have had this discussion before Eric and Jada told the world that she’s having his baby. Abe agrees but says not to get ahead as Eric needs a chance to explain and maybe Nicole misunderstood. Nicole insists that it’s crystal clear that she’s out while Jada and the baby are in.

Eric tells Jada that he honestly believes they won’t have a problem with Nicole and he will make sure Nicole knows that she has nothing to worry about. Jada tells Eric that she trusts him. Jada offers to help clean up but Eric says he’s got it, so Jada decides she will go finish packing upstairs. Eric questions her hurry. Jada knows she said she would stay until the end of the month, but she thinks maybe she should move out tomorrow since she has the day off. Eric stops her and thinks now that she’s having the baby, maybe she shouldn’t move out at all. Jada doesn’t get why. Eric wants to be involved with the pregnancy as much as he can like taking her to doctor appointments or birthing classes and it will be easier if she’s close by. Jada argues that it’s not like she’s moving out of state, she just won’t be down the hall. Eric notes that if she gets a late night craving, he could come to the kitchen and she’s going to need a lot more help with the baby. Jada again asks about Nicole. Eric says they will have to figure things out, but for the baby’s sake, they have to put their best foot forward. Jada knows they can, but says that Nicole doesn’t even know they decided to keep the baby. Eric assures he will talk to her soon and compares it to how wonderful it went with Roman and Kate. Jada calls that a little different. Eric comments that babies bring people together and asks her to just give it a chance. Jada then agrees to stay for now.

Abe thinks Nicole should go back to the Pub and talk to Eric. Nicole argues that she can’t just crash his family’s Thanksgiving dinner. Abe thinks they’d be glad to see her. Nicole asks if she’s just supposed to say she overheard him telling his dad that he’s done with her. Nicole feels that Eric should be the one reaching out to her, since she is the one ending her marriage to be with him. Paulina agrees that this is all on Eric. Abe argues that now is not the time to stand on pride. Paulina insists that Eric will have to make the first step. Paulina then suggests maybe Abe should go talk to Eric. Abe questions what he would say. Paulina says he could start by telling him he’s being a big dummy. Abe doesn’t think it’s his place but Paulina points out that Nicole is like a daughter to him. Abe says he would do almost anything for Nicole, but he doesn’t think he should interfere in this. Nicole says she understands but Paulina doesn’t. Paulina decides if he won’t go put Eric in his place, she will.

Alex and Stephanie finish their Thanksgiving dinner, which Stephanie calls the best she’s ever had. Stephanie thanks him for doing this. Alex asks about dessert but Stephanie says she can’t eat another bite. Alex suggests an alternative as they then kiss. Alex knows this is an unconventional second date and not what she had in mind, but he promises to up his game next time. Alex suggests bungee jumping or sky diving. Stephanie calls this perfect as they continue kissing.

EJ acknowledges that Marlena and Susan had quite an unlikely friendship. Marlena talks about Susan being warm and compassionate. EJ talks about Susan idolizing Marlena. Marlena recalls Susan making a Marlena doll for her wedding and all the trouble she went through for it. Marlena calls it the most touching gift she’s ever been given and she wishes she told Susan that. EJ says there’s a lot he wishes he told her. EJ knows he inherited many qualities from his father, but any good in him at all came from his mother as she was the best of him.

Alex and Stephanie continue kissing which Alex calls better than pumpkin pie.

Rafe tells Gabi and Li that dinner should be just about ready so they can go sit at the table. Gabi says they’ll see him in there as Li jokes abuot having no dessert. Rafe picks up a framed photo of he and Nicole and puts it away in a drawer.

Nicole thanks Paulina for wanting to help but agrees that she should deal with Eric on her own. Nicole thanks Abe for dinner and apologizes for being a downer as they hug. Abe invites her to come back to their place for coffee. Nicole thanks him but thinks she wants to be alone for awhile. Paulina tells Nicole to call if she needs anything. Nicole thanks her and says she’ll be praying for Chanel. They wish each other a Happy Thanksgiving. Paulina still thinks Eric is making a big mistake if he stays with Jada out of obligation, but if Nicole loves him, she can’t sit back and let him slip away as they have been through too much for her to give up without a fight. Paulina and Abe then walk away.

Jada decides she could use a nap. Eric encourages her needing her rest. Jada asks if he’s going to see Nicole. Eric says he will, but thought he’d go see his mom first to share the good news about the baby since she just lost a good friend and he hoped he could lift her spirits.

Marlena goes home and brings out the doll that Susan made of her, then places it on the mantle.

EJ brings flowers to the cliff where Susan died.

Roman is on the phone with Kayla at the Brady Pub. Roman tells Kayla that they will miss them but is glad they are there in Seattle for Tripp as they hang up. Eric asks how Tripp is. Roman responds that he’s having a rough time, losing his mom right before the holidays, but Steve and Kayla are there to look out for him. They agree that he’s in good hands. Roman points out that does mean that they have two less people for Thanksgiving dinner, so he hopes Eric and Jada are hungry or else there is going to be tons of leftovers. Eric informs Roman that there is something he needs to know about Jada.

Jada packs her bags in her room until Kate shows up at her door. They wish each other a Happy Thanksgiving. Jada congratulates Kate on her wedding. Kate jokes about being on her deathbed but confirms she’s recovered and feeling great. Kate informs Jada that she came to tell her that dinner will be ready in an about an hour but Jada reveals that she wasn’t planning on coming because she has a lot of packing to do which Kate questions. Jada asks if Eric didn’t tell her that she’s moving out.

Nicole goes to Rafe’s house and returns her key to the house. Nicole looks around and thinks back to when she and Rafe decided to begin their relationship there. Rafe then comes out from the back and is surprised to see her.

Allie is at home on the phone with Tripp, saying that Chanel is still in police custody and Belle is trying to get her out on bail but she hasn’t heard anything else. Allie says it was good talking to him and she’s really sorry about his mom. Allie tells Tripp to take care of himself and hangs up. There’s a knock at the door and Abe arrives. He notes that she looks disappointed. Allie responds that she’s always happy to see him but she just thought it was Chanel.

Chanel remains in the interrogation room, handcuffed to the table. Paulina arrives and hugs her, saying she hasn’t stopped thinking about her for a second as they wish each other a Happy Thanksgiving. Chanel says she was praying that she would see her today. Paulina says she wanted to come sooner but Belle advised her to stay away. Paulina feels she needed her sooner and she’s sorry. Chanel responds that she is the one who is sorry.

Kate questions why Jada is moving out. Jada responds that living here might be a little awkward now that Eric and Nicole are back together. Kate is shocked and questions when that happened. Jada says it was pretty recently. Kate tells her that she’s so sorry but understands Jada wanting to make a clean break. Jada remarks that unfortunately, that may not be possible which Kate questions.

Eric reveals to Roman that Jada is pregnant. Roman feels Eric is not too happy about that. Eric says that he is and calls it a blessing as he always wanted children but it wasn’t planned and they aren’t on the best of terms. Roman asks if something happened. Eric informs him that right before he got the news about the baby, he and Nicole decided to get back together.

Rafe questions why Nicole is at his house. Nicole says she came to get the rest of her things. Rafe tells her that he already told Eric that he would have them sent over to the Pub. Nicole feels he shouldn’t have to do that. Nicole adds that she also came because she thought Rafe would be at the police station and to avoid this. Rafe calls that so Nicole to always take the easy way out. Nicole mentions hearing about the accident last night. Rafe says it’s still under investigation. Nicole knows he can’t talk about it and that they had their issues with Ava, but she still feels terrible about what happened. Rafe says he does too. Nicole mentions hearing that EJ was there and he must be devastated. Rafe confirms he couldn’t even get EJ to give him a statement as he can’t imagine what he’s going through right now. Nicole packs her bags and tells Rafe that she got everything she needs for now and will send for the rest later. Rafe asks about Holly. Nicole admits she’s a little confused about everything going on but she’s okay. Nicole mentions that Holly is with Maggie now until she finds a place to settle down. Nicole asks if Rafe is still cooking Thanksgiving dinner. Rafe responds that he made a promise and doesn’t want to let Gabi and Arianna down since they’ve been looking forward to it. Nicole comments that she was too. Nicole says she’s sorry Rafe had to do everything on his own. Rafe says it’s no big deal. Nicole remembers that she was supposed to make her mother’s pie so he doesn’t have a dessert. Rafe mentions sending Gabi to the Bakery but they were closed. Nicole offers to still make the pie but Rafe says no. Nicole asks why not since there is still time but Rafe says no. Nicole argues that he cannot have Thanksgiving dinner without dessert. Nicole says it’s the least she can do for his family. Rafe then agrees only for Arianna so Nicole puts on an apron.

Allie tells Abe that she’s been baking a lot to keep herself from worrying about Chanel and it makes her feel close to her. Allie mentions making Chanel’s grandmother’s sweet potato pie. Allie asks about Lani since she heard Abe went to Maryland to tell her about Chanel. Abe says Lani obviously misses her family but he assured her that Chanel has lots of support. Abe asks Allie about seeing Chanel yesterday. Allie explains that Melinda wasn’t allowing visitors so she had to get special permission from Rafe but it was really good to see her and spend time together. Allie asks if Paulina has been able to see her yet. Abe responds that she’s at the station with her now and he would be with her, but she asked him to come check on Allie which she says it’s sweet. Abe asks how she is holding up. Allie admits that she’s terrified. Allie talks about how she and Chanel were just talking about their future together, getting married and possibly having kids while now it’s like what if they have no future.

Paulina tells Chanel that she has no reason to be sorry. Chanel argues that she ruined Paulina’s big day as she was elected Governor and instead of celebrating, she was humiliated in public because of her. Paulina argues that the only person to blame for how it went down is Melinda, who insisted Shawn arrest her at the worst possible moment. Chanel remarks that now the whole world knows she committed murder.

Abe tells Allie that Paulina told him the whole story about the incident that Chanel was involved in and that it was just an accident as Chanel did not intend to hurt that woman. Allie asks if he thinks a jury will believe that. Abe says it’s hard to say and what concerns him is the cover up. Abe knows Paulina meant well but admits it could be a problem. Allie is so sorry that they have to go through this. Abe encourages her to be strong for them and that’s all they can do for now as he hugs her.

Paulina argues that Chanel is not a murderer and was only defending herself after she was lured to the roof and attacked. Chanel argues that she was a college student who should’ve known she shouldn’t have been going to bed with a married man. Paulina complains that he had all the power and took advantage of her. Chanel says it doesn’t change the fact that she pushed Martha Bedford off the building. Paulina points out that if she didn’t, Chanel might have been the one who fell to her death. Paulina calls it a tragic accident, no matter what that spiteful daughter says. Chanel questions what daughter. Paulina forgot that Chanel didn’t know. Paulina then reveals that Sloan Peterson is not just some random lawyer, she is Martha and Nathan’s daughter who is hellbent on revenge which shocks Chanel.

Rafe asks Nicole what her plan is. Nicole admits she’s not sure since Jada is pregnant, so she doesn’t know where she stands with Eric. Rafe clarifies that he meant their divorce. Nicole apologizes and admits she hasn’t really thought about it yet. Rafe figured there’s no reason to wait, so they might as well get lawyers after the holiday. Rafe assures that he won’t fight her or drag it out just because she was in love with her ex-husband the entire time they were married. Rafe decides they will just call it irreconcilable differences.

Eric explains to Roman that after he and Nicole talked, they realized they couldn’t fight it anymore, that they wanted to be together, and they love each other. Roman admits he’s not surprised and says as long as Eric is happy, that’s very important to him. Roman guesses Nicole decided to end her marriage to Rafe. Eric confirms that she did and that he was going to end things with Jada when he got a call from Rafe that Jada had fainted, so they went to the hospital and that’s where Sarah broke the news to them that Jada is pregnant which was a total surprise since they were careful. Eric calls it a blessing but admits the timing couldn’t be worse. Roman asks what this means for Eric and Nicole. Eric calls that a good question.

Kate asks Jada if Eric knows about the pregnancy. Jada confirms that he was there when she got the news. Kate asks if that didn’t change anything. Jada says not for her as she’s not looking to trap a man who wants to be with someone else. Kate understands that and admits that before Jada came in to the picture, she was encouraging Eric to get back with Nicole. Jada guesses she saw their undeniable chemistry like everyone else in Salem. Kate says she also saw Eric and Jada together and it was very clear that Eric had feelings for her. Jada says not as strong as his feelings for Nicole. Kate points out that Jada is carrying Eric’s baby now and for a man like Eric, that carries weight, so she doesn’t think Jada should give up on the relationship so easily. Jada points out that Eric is pretty committed to Nicole and Nicole already told Rafe that she wants a divorce, so it’s a pretty done deal. Kate brings up how many times Eric and Nicole have broken up and gotten back together. Kate encourages Jada to fight for Eric. Jada appreciates her advice but says Eric made his decision, so now it’s time for her to make her decision on whether or not she’s going to keep the baby. Kate asks if she’s thinking of terminating the pregnancy. Jada admits it wasn’t her first inclination but she also believes in a woman’s right to choose. Jada says under these circumstances, it’s not ideal to bring a baby in to this world. Kate agrees they aren’t ideal but knowing Eric, she thinks he would be in favor of keeping the baby. Jada confirms that Eric made it clear that he will support whatever decision she makes. Kate tells Jada that she needs to decide what she wants then. Jada talks about how she wanted to be with Eric and if Nicole wasn’t in the picture, she would’ve been happy to raise a child with him but she doesn’t think she’s prepared to be a single parent, so she was thinking maybe she shouldn’t have this baby.

Eric tells Roman that he still loves Nicole and wants to be with her, but they are going to have to have a long conversation about how this is going to work if Jada keeps the baby, but she hasn’t made a decision yet. Eric calls it Jada’s decision to make and he will respect whatever it turns out to be. Roman asks what Eric’s way would be. Eric admits he always wanted to be a father but he hopes that Jada’s decision isn’t based on what he has done, though he would understand if she doesn’t want to have a baby with a guy who left her for his ex-wife.

Paulina explains to Chanel that there was no mystery client and Sloan was the one blackmailing them to avenge her mother. Chanel mentions Nathan telling her that he had two kids but never said their names. Chanel can’t believe that Sloan has been in Salem, lying in wait for over a year. Paulina informs her that it goes back further than that since she was in law school when her mother died and believed it was suicide until her father admitted on his deathbed that it was a lie, but he passed away before he could tell her more so she launched her own investigation and dredged up the evidence Paulina buried a long time ago and now she wants revenge on both of them. Chanel brings up that Melinda threatened to have Paulina arrested if she didn’t talk, but Belle shut it down pretty quickly. Chanel worries that Melinda could still charge Paulina for covering up her crime and declares that she won’t let Paulina pay for something she did. Paulina tells her not to worry as she’s been in plenty of jams and always gotten out so this is no different. Paulina declares that they will be just fine.

Allie tells Abe that today was supposed to be her and Chanel’s first real holiday as a couple and they were so excited to spend Thanksgiving with Paulina and Abe. Abe suggests maybe that could still happen. Allie highly doubts that Chanel will make bail today. Abe points out that he hasn’t stepped down as Mayor yet, so perhaps he could pull a few strings so they could all spend the holiday together which excites Allie.

Jada tells Kate that she didn’t realize how much she needed to talk to someone about this and thanks Kate for listening. Jada decides she should get back to packing. Kate asks if she’s moving out today. Jada says she has a few more days so Kate thinks she should take a break and join them for dinner. Jada asks if she doesn’t think that would be awkward. Kate jokes that Thanksgivings are always awkward, but it will give her and Eric a chance to talk. Jada agrees to think about it. Kate adds that at the end of the day, it’s Jada’s life and body, so it’s her decision. Kate then exits the room.

Roman asks Eric how he would feel if he found out Jada was pregnant and Nicole wasn’t in the picture. Eric thinks he would want to raise a child with Jada but everything happened so fast and early in their relationship. Eric calls Jada a good person and says they get along well. Eric adds that there’s no point in bringing it up because Nicole is a factor as he loves her and always will which is why this has become just a big mess. Kate comes downstairs and calls that quite an understatement as she just heard the news. Eric asks how Jada sounded. Kate doesn’t think Jada could feel worse about conceiving a child with a man who has always been in love with someone else.

Nicole tells Rafe to just put the pie in the oven for 45 minutes and adds that she left a bowl of whipped cream in the fridge. Rafe thanks her. Nicole repeats that it’s the least she could do. Nicole tells Rafe to enjoy his dinner. Nicole starts to cry as she guesses this is goodbye.

Paulina promises Chanel that she will get them out of this mess. Chanel thanks her and says she’s so grateful that she’s looking out for her, but she’s worried about everyone else getting dragged in to this like Abe’s reputation and Allie. Chanel talks about being so ashamed having to tell Allie about what she did. Paulina is sure Allie understands. Chanel asks what if now that Allie knows about her past, she decides she doesn’t want to be with her anymore. Allie then walks in with Abe and declares that is never going to happen. Chanel asks what they are doing here. Allie responds that since she couldn’t come to Thanksgiving, they brought Thanksgiving dinner to her.

Nicole cries to Rafe that she just wanted to tell him again how sorry she is because he’s such a good man and he didn’t deserve this. Rafe responds that maybe he did since they hooked up when he was still with Ava, so maybe it was karma intervening. Nicole doesn’t believe that. Nicole says he’s always been such a good friend to her for all these years and she just wishes they could still be friends and resume what they had before things got complicated. Rafe doesn’t see how that’s possible now. Nicole says she understands and tearfully walks out of the house with her bags.

Kate informs Roman and Eric that they may need to set another place at the table because she invited Jada to join them, though she doesn’t know if she will accept. Jada then comes downstairs and announces she would like to join if they have room at the table. Roman says of course they do. Kate then takes Roman to check on the dinner. Eric tells Jada that he’s really glad that she decided to join them for Thanksgiving dinner. Jada mentions having a talk with Kate and says she was great, offering her really good advice and giving her some clarity about their situation. Eric asks if she’s made a decision about the baby yet. Jada reveals that she has.

Abe, Paulina, Allie, and Chanel have Thanksgiving dinner in the interrogation room at the police station.

Roman, Kate, Eric, and Jada have Thanksgiving dinner at the Brady Pub. Roman asks who wants more pie. Eric and Kate both say they are stuffed. Jada thanks them for having her. Kate says they were glad to have her. Roman points out that they haven’t gone around the table to say what they are thankful for. Eric tells Jada that’s a big part of their Thanksgiving ritual. Roman starts by saying he’s very grateful that Kate made a full recovery and did him the tremendous honor of becoming his wife. Kate says she’s grateful to be here and to be married to Roman. Kate adds that she’s grateful for her children and grandchildren being happy and healthy and that they could share Thanksgiving together. Eric reveals that he and Jada had a conversation. Nicole comes around the corner and sees them as Eric announces that Jada has decided to keep the baby and they will be raising the baby together. Kate claps and calls that great news as Jada hugs Eric while Nicole listens in with a worried expression.

Stefan and Chloe walk through the town square and head to the Bakery but find it’s closed. Chloe mentions that one of the owners was just arrested for murder. Stefan guesses they should’ve had dessert at the restaurant. Chloe says even without dessert, she had a really good time. Stefan calls it their second first date and says he wanted it to be perfect. Chloe tells him that it was. They kiss as Gabi walks up and sees them.

Li is in his hotel room, wondering what Wendy is up to, why she is in Jakarta and why she’s not answering his calls. Li then gets a call from Wendy’s phone and answers, saying it’s about time she called but it’s Dr. Rolf, who informs him that this is not his sister. Li questions what the hell he is doing with his sister’s phone. Dr. Rolf responds that he received his message, warning him about his sister’s arrival, but it was too late.

Xander repeats to Sarah that he has something to tell her as she got distracted by thinking she saw a roach in the room and says she’s getting paranoid. Xander has flashbacks to kidnapping Susan and says he knows that feeling. Sarah guesses that something has happened and it’s bad. Xander confirms it’s something terrible and he did it.

Rafe is at the airstrip and calls in an APB on Ava Vitali, noting that Susan Banks may be in her car so he wants all units to proceed with caution because Ava is considered armed and extremely dangerous.

Ava’s vision of Charlie appears in her car and informs her that EJ is right behind her and since EJ used to drive race cars, it’s only a matter of time before he catches up to her. Charlie asks what Ava’s plan is when he does.

EJ declares that Ava has nowhere to go now but prison or Hell and when he catches up to her, he will get to decide.

Ava’s vision of Charlie asks if she’s going to drive all the way to Seattle when she knows the DiMeras will hunt her to the ends of the Earth. Ava tells him to shut up because she’s trying to think. Susan argues that she didn’t say anything but then says she will shut up. Susan warns Ava to keep her eyes on the road because it would be terrible to get in an accident. Charlie complains that Ava is scared when EJ should be, but she let him get the upper hand and now he’s chasing her while she runs away. Charlie declares that Vitalis don’t run away and she should’ve shot him when she had the chance. Ava says she’s not scared while Charlie points out she’s crying like a baby. Ava shouts that’s because she lost everything. Charlie argues that Steve and Rafe didn’t want her, Jake is dead, and Tripp abandoned her to move across the country, but she still has him and they can be together like he always wanted. Charlie says she can still win this and hurt EJ but she knows what she has to do. Ava then swerves the car off the road, causing EJ in the car behind her to question what the hell she is doing. EJ comes to a stop as Ava’s car goes flipping off a cliff.

Gabi interrupts Stefan and Chloe, exclaiming that she’s so glad she ran in to them because she just got her wedding invites. Gabi hands them invitations. Stefan questions her wanting him at her wedding. Gabi confirms that she wouldn’t want him to miss the celebration.

Li questions why Dr. Rolf has his sister’s phone. Rolf responds that he saw all the calls that he made to her and he was right to be worried as she was on a fishing expedition. Li asks what happened. Dr. Rolf explains that Wendy pretended that Li sent her to him and that she knew about Li having him erase Stefan’s feelings for Gabi. Li asks if he told her that she was wrong. Dr. Rolf says unfortunately, he hadn’t received his warning yet. Li questions Wendy knowing and asks where she is now. Dr. Rolf responds that at the moment, she is somewhat indisposed. Wendy and Johnny both lie unconscious in hospital beds inside of Dr Rolf’s lab.

Sarah tells Xander that he’s starting to scare her. Sarah says to just tell her what he’s done and they can figure out how to handle it. Xander thinks back to telling Susan that Sarah would never forgive him if she found out what he did. Xander then informs Sarah that he broke his word to her. Sarah doesn’t understand and asks what he means. Xander thinks back to Susan promising not to tell what he did. Xander tells Sarah that he hates to tell her this, but reveals that he quit his job.

EJ runs to the edge of the cliff and screams for his mom.

Gabi tells Stefan and Chloe to cancel their New Year’s Eve plans because this party is going to be better than anything they could dream of. Chloe informs her that they are probably going out of town to somewhere like Miami. Gabi brings up that Chloe is working for Li now and she’s pretty sure he would want her at his wedding. Stefan gives one of wedding invitations back and says they won’t need it because Chloe will be his plus one. Gabi calls that nice. Stefan remarks that it is nice when fate brings two people together.

Li questions Dr. Rolf having Wendy and Johnny restrained. Dr. Rolf explains that they arrived together and that Johnny was recording his conversation with Wendy, so he had to detain them. Li questions how Wendy got on to this and how Johnny got involved. Dr. Rolf says all he knows is what’s on the recording and he could destroy it but that won’t solve everything. Li asks how to stop Wendy and Johnny from going straight to Gabi with what they know when they get back to Salem. Dr. Rolf informs him that he hasn’t been idle since being sent to Jakarta as he’s been working on an exciting robotics program. Dr. Rolf adds that to complete it, he needs a set of human vocal chords and two would be even better. Li questions Rolf wanting to remove their vocal chords and says he has a much better idea.

Johnny wakes up tied to the hospital bed. Johnny calls out to Wendy and she wakes up, asking what happened. Wendy says the last thing she heard was feedback from her mic and Dr. Rolf was coming at her with a needle. Johnny explains that he found her out cold and then Dr. Rolf came at him with another needle. Wendy remembers Dr. Rolf spilling his guts. Johnny points out that they still don’t know EJ’s involvement and complains about Dr. Rolf figuring out what they are up to. Wendy points out that Dr. Rolf is not stupid and they agree that he won’t be letting them off with just a warning. Johnny doesn’t think they can count on the local cops to come to their rescue so they have to find a way out.

Rafe calls the FBI about Susan Banks being kidnapped and calls it a high profile case. Rafe adds that the kidnapper is Ava Vitali. Rafe explains being at the Salem airstrip because Tony told him that EJ would be there to pay the ransom but it looks like things didn’t go as planned and Ava may have taken off with Susan. Rafe says he has every one of his men out looking for them now. Rafe then gets a call from one of his men and switches over. Rafe asks how bad it is and asks for the exact location of the crash. Rafe hangs up and storms off.

Sarah questions Xander quitting his job when he just started and said it was such a great opportunity. Xander knows it’s a shock but says he had no choice. Sarah still doesn’t understand. Xander tells her that the job wasn’t what he was told it would be. Xander thinks back to Ava changing the plan and ordering him to kill Susan. Xander then tells Sarah that his boss asked him to do something that he knew was wrong and he thought of Sarah, so he couldn’t go through with it.

EJ continues screaming for his mother as Rafe arrives and stops EJ from trying to go down the cliff. EJ screams about Susan being down there. Rafe tells him that he knows as Tony told him everything. EJ complains that Ava deliberately drove off the road and yells at Rafe to get his hands off of him. Rafe tells EJ to get a hold of himself as the rescue squad is on their way and they have a much better chance of getting to Susan than he does getting down the cliff. EJ questions doing nothing when his mother is down there in the car. EJ and Rafe then look over the cliff as Ava’s car explodes.

Sarah brings up that Xander told her this company was legit so she questions his boss asking him to do something dicey. Xander says that she made the job out to be something it wasn’t, so he doesn’t work there anymore. Sarah asks Xander what she wanted him to do. Xander would rather not talk about it. Sarah says she’s just trying to understand what he didn’t want to do and asks if it was unethical or worse than that. Sarah asks if it was like cooking the books or something. Xander claims it was like that. Sarah says if that’s the case, he did the right thing and she’s really proud of him as she hugs him.

EJ and Rafe stagger back to their after being knocked down by the explosion. EJ tells Rafe not to try to stop him from saving his mother. Rafe tells him he can’t go down there but EJ says he’s not going to sit there and watch his mother burn. EJ then begins climbing down the cliff and Rafe reluctantly follows after him.

Stefan brings Chloe to the DiMera Mansion for dessert. Stefan hopes it helps them forget their run in with Gabi. Chloe asks why Stefan said they wouldn’t miss Gabi’s wedding. Stefan says he knows Chloe wasn’t at his and Gabi’s wedding, but that she used him and as soon as they exchanged vows, she turned on him and kicked him out of the house, so he can’t wait to see what she has in store for Li. Chloe asks if he thinks she’s going to do the same thing to him. Stefan says he doesn’t know, but he knows Gabi doesn’t love him yet she’s making a big deal about the wedding, so he can’t wait to find out why.

Li asks Dr. Rolf if he’s clear on what he wants and if they are on the same page. Gabi comes home to the room as Li tells Dr. Rolf that when Wendy comes home, she better be emptyhanded. Li then quickly hangs up and says he didn’t hear Gabi come in. Gabi questions what’s wrong with Wendy.

Dr. Rolf finishes his call and goes back in to his lab where he sees Johnny and Wendy are both awake. Wendy warns Dr. Rolf to let them go before Li finds out what he’s done. Dr. Rolf says he wouldn’t be so sure about that happening and adds that he doesn’t take too well when people come to him under false pretenses and then secretly record his conversations. Johnny mocks him. Dr. Rolf declares that no one will ever get to hear his recording as he burns it and trashes it. Wendy demands to speak to Li. Dr. Rolf responds that she just missed him as they had a fruitful conversation on her phone. Dr. Rolf informs them that Li gave him strict orders to ensure that they never tell anyone what they heard today. Dr. Rolf prepares his syringe and says it will take a few seconds so they can sit tight.

Chloe questions why Stefan thinks Gabi doesn’t love Li. Stefan responds that he doesn’t think Gabi is capable of loving anyone as she’s too obsessed with money and power. Stefan points out Gabi ending up with Li when his father is chairman of the board, who can help her climb back to the top of DiMera. Stefan asks why Gabi didn’t just go after Li’s father himself. Chloe points out that he’s married. Stefan jokes that it’s never stopped Gabi and guesses she figured that Li would be more helpful in clawing her way back to the top. Chloe questions why Gabi is so anxious to have Stefan at her wedding. Stefan says he doesn’t know. Chloe thinks she does and it has to do with him, not money or power.

Li claims to Gabi that he was on the phone with the maintenance crew of the DiMera Jet because they suspected Wendy was playing hooky and it turns out that she did it in style as she and Johnny commandeered the DiMera Jet to Indonesia. Gabi questions why and what’s in Indonesia. Li remarks that he would tell her if she’d return his calls but claims he has no idea why she went, adding that they were never that close. Gabi questions why Li was telling them to make sure Wendy came back emptyhanded and asks what he’s afraid of her bringing back.

Wendy asks if Dr. Rolf has a soul or feelings. Wendy tells him that they are here because of Gabi because they think she got a raw deal from Li and EJ. Dr. Rolf questions them coming all this way and putting themselves in grave danger for someone who means nothing to them. Wendy argues that Gabi just found out Stefan was alive and he was the love of her life. Johnny adds that now Stefan wants nothing to do with her. Wendy asks if there was ever someone in Dr. Rolf’s life that meant everything to him. Johnny asks what if love happened and someone like him messed it up. Wendy questions it not bothering Dr. Rolf to messing with the natural order of things. Johnny tells Dr. Rolf to just let them go and they will let Gabi know the truth. Dr. Rolf remarks that Gabi does know the truth, only she’s forgotten thanks to his syringe which they will find just as effective on their memories from today. Johnny questions what’s in the syringe. Dr. Rolf calls it CRS-17 and jokes that it stands for Can’t Remember Stuff. Dr. Rolf declares that they will return to Salem, believing that they came here for nothing and asks if that’s so horrible.

Sarah asks why Xander said that quitting his job was such a terrible thing. Xander talks about how much he wanted to find a good paying job and he really thought he got it sorted to take care of her. Xander says it’s killing him to walk away from the job as he feels like he let her down again. Sarah knows he wants to be the provider but says it means more to her that he wants to make an honest living and that he quit upon finding the job wasn’t on the up and up. Sarah says she admires that and loves him so much. Xander says he loves her and doesn’t know what he’d do without her as they kiss.

Rafe and EJ sit at the scene as one of the firefighters comes over and informs them that the fire is almost out. EJ asks about his mother. He responds that he’s sorry but no one could survive that blast.

Chloe tells Stefan that even the most ambitious people are capable of falling in love. Stefan talks about how many times he’s told Gabi that there’s no chance for them. Chloe points out that Gabi doesn’t take no for an answer. Stefan argues that Gabi’s stubbornness is based in greed, not love. Chloe points out that she saw Gabi’s face after she saw them kissing and she was upset. Stefan questions why she would react by waving her wedding invitations in their faces then. Chloe doesn’t know but is sure that she wishes she wouldn’t have done that. Stefan feels that Gabi will regret it even more on the day of the wedding when he and Chloe are holding hands front and center. Chloe questions why Stefan wants to hurt Gabi. Stefan responds that it’s not about that, he just wants to get through to her and that’s it. Stefan states that he doesn’t care about Gabi enough to want to hurt her and he doesn’t care who she marries because he only cares about Chloe as they then kiss.

Li tells Gabi that coming back empty handed was just a figure of speech as he doesn’t want her shopping for souvenirs, he wants her back in Salem because he needs people he can count on, not flighty girls who take off with guys on a whim and go halfway around the world. Gabi asks what he’s going to do when Wendy gets back. Li declares that he’s going to fire her. Gabi encourages him to give Wendy a break and mentions that she and Johnny are kind of cute together which Li questions. Gabi talks about running in to them in the town square a couple days ago and they had an energy between them, so she was curious and Johnny admitted that he has a crush on Wendy. Li argues that he can take her out to dinner then, not to Indonesia on his dad’s jet. Li angrily calls Johnny a spoiled little brat. Gabi comments on Li being angry. Li admits that he’s really angry. Gabi suggests he just let them enjoy their romantic getaway.

Dr. Rolf decides ladies first for the injection. Wendy tries to fight it and pleads with him not to do this and says she won’t say anything. Dr. Rolf warns that she should’ve thought about that before lying her way in to his lab. Johnny gets an arm free and grabs Dr. Rolf, demanding he take his hands off Wendy.

Xander and Sarah lay in bed together. Xander states that he needs to think about more than just money when it comes to finding a job because he wants to be proud of what he does. Sarah encourages that the right job is out there for him. Xander comments that it might be tricky explaining why he can’t ask his old boss for a reference. Sarah argues that people leave jobs on bad terms all the time. Xander decides to go shower while Sarah says she’ll be waiting for him. Sarah then turns on the TV.

Rafe tells EJ that he’s sorry and that he wishes this hadn’t happened. Rafe decides there’s no reason to stay here. Rafe offers to have an officer take EJ’s car to his place, so EJ can ride with him to headquarters. EJ questions why. Rafe points out that he will need his statement because Tony told him that Ava had kidnapped Susan but he didn’t know the rest, so he will need that from him. EJ questions why since it’s not going to bring his mother back. Rafe tells him that Ava did this, so he wants to get it all in public record. EJ responds that he’s not going to relive this nightmare for the sake of public record. EJ then gets up and declares he’s going home as he walks away.

Li tells Gabi that he’s touched that she’s standing up for his sister but asks if she would be so generous if she was still CEO and her new employee went for a joyride on the company jet. Gabi asks what’s more important, wasted jet fuel or true love? Li jokes that she’s an old softie. They kiss and Li then decides that she’s convinced him. Li notes that there will have to be consequences since she skipped out on work, but he promises not to overreact since no real harm was done.

Johnny breaks free and fights off Dr. Rolf. Johnny begins untying Wendy when Dr. Rolf comes back after him. Dr. Rolf corners Johnny but Wendy breaks free and knocks out Dr. Rolf by hitting him in the back of the head with a tray. Johnny and Wendy tell each other that they did great.

Stefan and Chloe continue kissing. Stefan remembers that he promised her dessert but they both decide they are over it. Stefan says he would hate to think they came here for no reason. Stefan then stops and asks if he’s moving too fast because she’s still not over Brady. Chloe admits that she’s not but she does want to move on with her life. Chloe says that Brady moved Kristen in 5 seconds after they broke up, so to hell with both of them. Stefan is happy to help with that transition as they continue kissing. Stefan calls this one of the best nights he’s had in a long time. Chloe feels the same. EJ then walks in looking a mess and immediately pours a drink. Chloe asks what happened while Stefan asks if EJ is okay or if he was in an accident. EJ says no, but his mother was and reveals that Susan’s dead which shocks Chloe and Stefan.

Gabi and Li look over their wedding invitations. Gabi wants to keep one to herself as a reminder that this is really happening. Li declares that by December 31st, they will be a married couple. Gabi adds that they will be bringing in the new year as husband and wife. Li says he can’t wait as they kiss.

Johnny and Wendy tie Dr. Rolf up to the hospital bed in the lab. Johnny states that Dr. Rolf may have destroyed their recording, but they can still undo everything he did and once they get back to Salem, that’s exactly what they are going to do. Wendy declares that she is going to tell Gabi personally what Dr. Rolf did to Stefan’s brain. Johnny adds that Gabi is going to come after him with more than a scalpel. Johnny and Wendy decide they are ready to go. Dr. Rolf argues that they can’t leave him like this. Johnny remarks that as a brilliant scientist, he can figure his way out. Johnny and Wendy then exit together, leaving Dr. Rolf screaming.

Xander gets out of the shower and back in bed with Sarah. Sarah tells him about watching the news bulletin on Susan’s kidnapping. Xander asks if they said who did it. Sarah says just the same thing that Bonnie told her, some guy in a clown mask. Xander asks what the bulletin was then and if Susan told them who did it. Sarah then reveals that Susan couldn’t say anything because she’s dead which shocks Xander.

Stefan stops EJ from drinking. EJ then throws a glass across the room in frustration and screams as he drops to the floor. EJ breaks down crying that his mother is gone and it’s all his fault.

Sarah joins Maggie in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion. Sarah apologizes for having to miss her anniversary dinner, so she brought her a last minute gift of a steel picture frame and suggests they could take a photo for it later tonight. Maggie calls it lovely but Sarah asks her what’s wrong. Maggie responds that Justin is terribly worried about Bonnie and so is she.

Justin and Alex rush in to the gardening shed and are shocked to find Bonnie tied up. Justin and Alex untie her. Justin asks who did this to her. Bonnie responds that it was the evilest clown you’d ever seen.

Xander in his clown mask drives with Susan tied up in the backseat. Susan questions where they are going. Xander remarks that she’s supposed to be psychic. Susan argues that it doesn’t work that way and calls him a sorry excuse for a clown. Susan complains that he’s rude and boring. Xander tells her to just sit back, be quiet, and enjoy the ride in silence.

Tony joins EJ in the living room of the DiMera Mansion and tells him that Anna is resting as it’s all been too much for them. Tony is relieved that EJ and Ava have made an agreement. EJ says he just wants it all to be over and as much as it pains him, he’s willing to do whatever it takes to ensure the safe return of his mother.

In the DiMera Crypt, Ava’s vision of Charlie urges her to kill Susan. Ava argues that’s not the deal she made with EJ. Charlie questions when EJ upholds deals and reminds her that he kidnapped her son, so she can’t let EJ win and needs to make him lose. Ava reminds him that she just upped the ransom and he’s about to lose $30 million dollars. Charlie says it’s not about the money. Charlie brings up how EJ treated Ava and insists that she needs to make him suffer. Charlie declares that they both know this ends in true revenge, so EJ’s mother has to die.

Xander continues driving while Susan questions this being a clown car. Xander complains about her never shutting up. Susan tells him to answer her questions or she’s going to start singing Elvis songs. Xander then admits it’s not a clown car and reveals it’s a rental. Susan talks about wearing her lucky hat in order to prepare for the weather. Xander remarks that it doesn’t seem lucky to him. Susan insists that as long as she has the hat, everything’s going to be alright. Susan questions him about not having any clown friends and brings up his wife but Xander tells her not to start that again.

Sarah mentions to Maggie that Xander said Bonnie had texted about going to visit Mimi but didn’t say why. Maggie informs her that Justin just spoke to Mimi and it’s clear that the text didn’t come from Bonnie as she never went to Chicago. Sarah understands why they are all so worried then. Sarah asks where Bonnie went. Maggie says they don’t know as last they saw her, she was going to the gardening shed.

Bonnie tells Justin about being tied up by someone in a clown mask. Justin goes over how Bonnie came to the shed for lanterns. Alex asks if the clown was waiting when she got there. Bonnie then reveals that he found her here after she found Susan Banks.

Charlie argues that EJ could have killed Tripp but Ava points out that he didn’t and Tripp is safe now. Ava adds that they made a deal and EJ agreed. Charlie questions it being about the money. He admits that $30 million is a big pay day but argues that destroying somebody would make her who she is meant to be. Charlie urges her to make EJ realize what happens when he messes with Ava Vitali and put him in his place. Charlie declares that the best way to do that is to put his mother in the crypt.

EJ informs Tony that the necessary funds are in place. Tony thought it was going to be a non-electronic transaction. EJ responds that it is but there’s one more thing he has to deal with and that’s Ava Vitali as he removes his gun from the safe.

Ava tells her vision of Charlie that Susan may be insufferable but she’s innocent and has done nothing wrong. Charlie argues that it’s why it would hurt EJ even more and she would get the payback she deserves. Charlie remarks that EJ would be devastated but the rest of the world would breathe a sigh of relief when Susan finally shuts up forever.

Susan asks Xander again where they are going as he continues driving. Susan asks if he’s not getting bored with kidnapping. Xander admits they are on the same page with that and he might be even more ready than her for this to be over. Xander then tells Susan that he’s taking her home.

EJ gets a text from Ava to meet her at the airstrip in 30 minutes. Tony questions if the gun is necessary. EJ is sure there’s been more than one poor soul that made the fatal mistake of meeting Ava unarmed. EJ declares that if he left the gun, it would be a grave mistake and possibly his last.

Bonnie explains to Alex and Justin that the clown had Susan and wanted EJ to pay up to get his mother back. Alex asks where Susan is now. Bonnie says God only knows where as she hugs Justin.

Maggie tells Sarah that Justin and Alex are at the shed now, trying to figure out where Bonnie disappeared too. Sarah points out that Bonnie can be a little scattered. Maggie argues that Bonnie didn’t just get lost on the grounds. Sarah is sure she will turn up. Sarah brings up that when she left for work, Xander was here, so she asks where he is now.

Xander in his clown mask brings Susan to the DiMera Crypt. Susan complains about remembering when the Devil brought her here while Xander tells her to keep her voice down. Susan accuses him of lying about bringing her home. Xander points out that she is on the DiMera grounds. Xander then brings Susan in to the Crypt where Ava questions what the hell she’s doing there. Susan tells Ava that she has to help her and that the clown has been holding her against her will. Ava reveals that the clown did exactly what she asked him to. Susan questions if Ava is the clown’s wife. Ava clarifies that her relationship with him is strictly professional. Susan brings up how Johnny trusted Ava and stood up for her against his own dad, but now he’ll be so disappointed in her. Ava mocks her and orders her to go stand in the corner as she needs to have a word with the clown. Susan thinks she should be part of the conversation but then agrees to stand in the corner while they talk. Ava calls Xander a total moron. Xander reminds her that the place he had her at was compromised and says Ava would let him know when her son was safe. Ava responds that she just got word that Steve rescued Tripp. Xander says they can finally end this then and get their money from EJ, so he can let go of Susan. Ava reveals there’s been a change of plans. Ava informs him that she is going to get the money from EJ and declares that Xander will stay here, to kill Susan. Xander questions what she’s talking about and argues that they had a deal that no one gets hurt. Ava guesses they had a misunderstanding and claims her goal from the beginning was always to hurt EJ for what he did to her. Ava adds that it’s become clear to her that the only way to get back at EJ is to take away someone he loves. Xander argues that’s what they did and now it’s time to trade that person for a vast sum of money because he didn’t sign up for murder. Ava argues that money means nothing to EJ since he’ll always have it and get more, so they have to take away something that can’t be replaced. Ava declares that EJ needs to pay in blood. Xander comments that he knew she had a screw loose but she’s totally lost it. Xander tells Susan that he’s taking her home back to her son. Ava asks if he’s sure about that as she then removes his clown mask, revealing Xander to Susan, who recognizes him.

EJ tells Tony that he and Ava have been playing a deadly game but he has no doubt that he will best her because she’s reckless and her moves are erratic. Tony argues that’s what makes her so dangerous. Tony guesses if he can’t talk him out of this, he wants to go with him as backup. EJ informs him that Ava told him to come alone and at this point in negotiations, he’s willing to make that sacrifice. EJ says as much as he wants to end Ava tonight, his mother’s safety is the priority and assures that his gun is a last resort. EJ then exits the mansion.

Alex and Justin bring Bonnie back to the Kiriakis Mansion and have Sarah check her out. Sarah notes that she’s physically fine but she’s sure this whole ordeal was a lot for her. Bonnie says she’s just glad it’s over and comments on her hands still shaking. Maggie brings her some tea but Bonnie requests a Long Island iced tea so Alex goes to make her a drink. Justin asks if Bonnie can tell them anymore about the man who took Susan. Bonnie responds that she’s more interested in drinking and asks if they can put off talking about this. Rafe then arrives and says they can’t because the longer she waits, the more likely she is to forget something that could save Susan’s life.

Susan is shocked that Xander was the clown and questions how he could do this to her. Xander asks why the hell Ava did that. Ava responds that he brought Susan here and outed her, so she just returned the favor and now he has no choice but to do what needs to be done. Ava says she has to go meet EJ at the airstrip, so she’s going to take Xander’s car, get the money from EJ and then tell him the terrible news about his mom. Ava adds that Susan has a nice spot in the Crypt, so when EJ finds her body, he won’t have far to go to bury her. Ava then exits the Crypt, leaving Xander with Susan.

Rafe asks if Bonnie remembers anything else about the clown because any details can be incredibly helpful. Bonnie repeats that he was wearing a clown mask that he never took off and a blue business suit like Alex wears. Justin points out that Alex was here with he and Maggie. Rafe asks Bonnie about more details. Bonnie says she’s no good at describing people to the cops and brings up that the last time she did this, she identified the wrong person. Justin encourages Bonnie to think about not just what the clown looked like, but what he sounded like. Bonnie says his voice was muffled and kind of strange. Bonnie cries that she can’t do this and doesn’t know what they want from her. Justin decides that’s enough as she’s been through a lot. Rafe tells Bonnie to let him know if she remembers anything else at all. Rafe then goes to leave but Bonnie stops him and says there is something. Bonnie mentions that the guy wore a clown mask but he wasn’t very clown like since he wasn’t very funny, he was mean and creepy. Bonnie declares that this clown wouldn’t work in the circus because with his build and how he carried himself, he was more like the strongman…

Xander holds the gun while Susan pleads with him that he doesn’t have to do this. Susan argues that Ava doesn’t get to boss him around. Susan promises that if Xander lets her live, she won’t tell a soul that he was involved in any of this.

EJ arrives at the airstrip as Ava then arrives. EJ asks where Susan is as he wants to see her. Ava responds that he’ll get what he wants after she gets what she wants. EJ points out that they can’t trust each other. Ava doesn’t want his trust, just his money. Ava warns that unless she gets an alert very soon that he’s wired the $30 million dollars, she will call her associate and tell him to put a bullet in Susan’s head.

Susan pleads with Xander. Xander responds that he’s sorry but the stakes are too high and he can’t even trust Ava now. Susan questions if he’s going to murder her in cold blood. Xander states that Sarah would never understand this and things were just getting back on track, so he has to do this for her. Susan disagrees. Xander tells her no more talking as it will only make things harder for both of them. Susan says she will listen to him then. Xander talks about promising Sarah that he was a changed man but if she finds out about this, she’ll see him for what he really is. Susan argues that he doesn’t have to do this and promises not to tell. Xander says maybe she won’t, but if he doesn’t do this, Ava might just out of spite tell everyone and he cannot lose Sarah again. Xander tells Susan that he’s so sorry and raises the gun to her head.

EJ informs Ava that the money has been wired then asks where his mother is. Ava gets a notification on her phone and tells EJ that it was nice doing business with him. EJ warns that she’s not leaving here without releasing Susan. Ava responds that she will release her body to him. EJ says no but Ava says she’s afraid it’s true that his mom is dead.

Xander goes home to his hotel room and takes a shower, saying he thought it would help wash away some of the guilt but he was wrong.

Tony speaks to the portrait of Stefano about waiting for EJ to return. Tony hopes EJ keeps his cool. Rafe then bursts in and asks where the hell EJ is.

Ava tells EJ that the look on his face is worth more to her than $30 million dollars. Ava talks about how EJ thought he could take her son from her and just pay her off. EJ warns her that if his mother is dead, then she’s next, as he then pulls his gun on Ava.

Justin and Bonnie sit together. Justin is glad she is safe next to him. Bonnie calls him her hero and her love as they kiss.

Tony informs Rafe that EJ is on his way to the airstrip now to make the exchange. Rafe questions why they didn’t call him. Tony explains that EJ was going to when the call from Ava came in and at that point, the ball was already rolling so he had no choice but to act. Tony admits he’s worried about EJ but he’s sure Rafe understands they aren’t dealing with the average kidnapper. Tony declares that the rules don’t seem to apply when dealing with Ava Vitali.

Ava tells EJ to go ahead and kill her, but they both know that she won and she beat him, so she will gladly go to her grave knowing that. Susan then suddenly rushes in and gets in between them, stopping EJ which shocks them.

Xander thinks back to Susan asking to say a prayer before he blew her brains out and Susan then prayed for God to have mercy on Xander’s soul and to forgive him because he doesn’t know what he’s done. Susan then told Xander that she was ready but he decided he couldn’t pull the trigger. Susan guesses her prayer was answered and asks what to do next, but Xander told her to just go before he changed his mind so she left the Crypt. Xander then worries that Susan is telling the whole world now what he had done.

EJ is relieved that Susan is alive. Susan tells EJ that he has to do her a favor and put the gun down because thou shall not kill. Ava then grabs Susan from behind and holds her at gunpoint. Susan questions how many times in one night she can get a gun pointed at her. Ava warns that this will be the last time unless EJ puts his gun down now. EJ lowers his gun and motions for her to give him Susan. Ava decides she and Susan are going for a ride. EJ raises his gun again but Ava questions if that’s what he wants to do and screams at him to put it down. Susan tells EJ it’s okay as Ava drags her away. EJ screams in frustration as Ava drives away with Susan.

Sarah returns home to Xander and tells him that he is not going to believe what happened. Sarah reveals that someone kidnapped Susan Banks and was holding her in the Kiriakis gardening shed of all places and then Bonnie found Susan, so the kidnapper grabbed her too. Sarah tells him not to worry as Bonnie is okay but the kidnapper took Susan and went God knows where. Sarah adds that the weirdest thing is that the kidnapper was wearing a blue suit and a clown mask which she calls crazy as Xander looks at his suit on the chair nearby. Sarah notes that he still has Susan. Xander responds that he’s sorry but he has to tell her something.

Bonnie finishes her drink as Justin declares that when he finds the clown, he’s going to be very sorry that he ever laid a finger on his wife. Bonnie assures that she’s okay but she’s just worried about Susan since she was really scared. Justin encourages that Rafe will find her and bring her home safe. Bonnie hopes that he’s right.

Rafe arrives at the air strip but finds it empty. Rafe then finds Susan’s hat on the ground.

Ava drives off with Susan. Ava warns her not to startle her when she has the gun. Susan argues that they have to go back because she lost her lucky hat but Ava warns her to keep her mouth shut.

EJ goes driving after them, saying he’s coming for his mother.

Ava’s vision of Charlie appears in her car and informs her that EJ is right behind her and since EJ used to drive race cars, it’s only a matter of time before he catches up to her. Charlie asks what Ava’s plan is when he does.

EJ declares that Ava has nowhere to go now but prison or Hell and when he catches up to her, he will get to decide.

Ava’s vision of Charlie asks if she’s going to drive all the way to Seattle when she knows the DiMeras will hunt her to the ends of the Earth. Ava tells him to shut up because she’s trying to think. Susan argues that she didn’t say anything but then says she will shut up. Susan warns Ava to keep her eyes on the road because it would be terrible to get in an accident. Charlie complains that Ava is scared when EJ should be, but she let him get the upper hand and now he’s chasing her while she runs away. Charlie declares that Vitalis don’t run away and she should’ve shot him when she had the chance. Ava says she’s not scared while Charlie points out she’s crying like a baby. Ava shouts that’s because she lost everything. Charlie argues that Steve and Rafe didn’t want her, Jake is dead, and Tripp abandoned her to move across the country, but she still has him and they can be together like he always wanted. Charlie says she can still win this and hurt EJ but she knows what she has to do. Ava then swerves the car off the road, causing EJ in the car behind her to question what the hell she is doing.

Justin comes home to the Kiriakis Mansion and comments on the smile on Alex’s face. Alex hugs him and welcomes him home. Alex asks about his visit with the twins in Arizona. Justin says it was great and jokes about them sending love. Alex says he’ll call them later. Justin guesses Alex’s grin has something to do with a woman. Alex says not just any woman as he reveals he shared his first kiss with the woman of his dreams. Justin says he can’t wait to hear about it, but first he needs to track down his dream girl as he asks where Bonnie is.

Xander in his clown mask goes to the gardening shed where Bonnie and Susan are tied up. Bonnie tries screaming for help. Xander says they will be out of here soon enough but until then, they need to eat. Bonnie questions how long he’s going to keep them here. Xander responds that it’s until EJ DiMera pays his mother’s ransom.

EJ is in the living room of the DiMera Mansion with Tony, wondering why the hell Ava isn’t calling. Tony reminds EJ that this all could’ve been avoided if he simply paid the ransom. EJ argues that’s assuming that Ava would make good on her promise to let Susan go. Tony points out that Ava only wanted money. EJ asks what if she just asked for more afterwards and states that they do not negotiate with terrorists. Tony suggests EJ has become one by kidnapping Tripp. EJ argues that Ava needed to know how far he would go to get his son back. Tony questions how EJ’s plan is working because it looks to him like a standoff. EJ admits he overestimated Ava’s humanity, but she knows he has Tripp and that he means business. EJ asks what kind of woman would gamble the life of her only living son. Tony says she’s a woman who is up against a man willing to gamble the life of his mother.

Ava is in the DiMera Crypt, wondering why Steve hasn’t called. Ava’s vision of Charlie appears and suggests maybe Steve hasn’t found Tripp or the rescue went south and he’s afraid to call her. Charlie tells Ava that either way, she always has him.

Steve arrives at a pool hall in Seattle and orders a drink at the bar. Steve then asks the bartender for the location of Tripp and shows him his photo.

Alex informs Justin that Bonnie is not home. Justin asks if she went out shopping. Alex says maybe but then reveals that Maggie told him that Bonnie went to go see her daughter Mimi in Chicago on some kind of emergency. Alex explains that Bonnie was supposed to set up an anniversary dinner for Victor and Maggie but then just took off. Justin calls that odd. Alex asks if she didn’t tell him. Justin says he didn’t hear a word which is not like Bonnie at all.

Bonnie asks Susan what’s taking so long for EJ to pay up, complaining that he’s taking his time to pay the ransom. Bonnie tells Xander that she needs to get out of here. Xander says he wants this over just as much and he won’t let this situation destroy his life, so he will get her out of this as he’s sure EJ will pay up soon. Bonnie warns that Justin is coming home today and when he finds out about this, he won’t be as casual about her life as EJ is about his mother’s life. Xander decides if she’s not eating, he’s leaving. Bonnie tells him that it’s only a matter of time before Justin realizes she’s missing.

Ava continues watching her phone. Charlie asks if she’s sure that Steve is up to rescuing Tripp. Ava assures that Steve will come through and she trusts him. Charlie calls it amazing that she continues to trust Steve when he puts his own family over her. Ava disagrees and argues that he doesn’t know anything. Charlie argues that he’s the only one that she’s been able to count on, not Tripp, Jake, or Steve.

The bartender tells Steve that he doesn’t recognize Tripp and asks what this is all about. Steve explains that someone grabbed Tripp from his apartment and they have reason to believe that whoever took him, frequents this establishment. The bartender questions why Steve is so interested if he’s not a cop. Steve responds that it’s not him, it’s his boss. The bartender asks who his boss is. Kayla then enters, wearing a wig and a fur coat and declares she is his boss. The bartender questions who the hell she is. She asks if he’s ever heard of the Vitalis. He confirms he has. She says that she runs the Vitalis. Steve then introduces Kayla as Ava Vitali, his boss. She telsl the bartender that Tripp is her son and she wants him back, safe and sound.

Ava yells at her vision of Charlie to leave her alone and go away as he vanishes. Xander then enters the Crypt and questions who she is talking to and what’s going on. Ava says nothing and claims that she thought she saw a rat. Ava questions what he’s doing here and who is watching Susan. Xander says Susan is fine and tells her not to worry about her. Xander asks if EJ paid the ransom. Ava says not yet. Xander asks why the hell not, arguing that this was supposed to be a quick job and they are already on day 2. Xander questions what is taking so long. Ava reveals that EJ has her kid.

Tony gets EJ a drink to take the edge off. Tony knows he’s under pressure and he doesn’t mean to be judgmental. Tony says he cares about Susan but he’s concerned that EJ’s pride and stubbornness is influencing his decision making. Tony feels EJ is trying to teach Ava a lesson. EJ complains that Ava made their family a target. Tony says the quickest way to get this over with is to let Tripp go. EJ questions surrendering and trusting Ava not to hurt his mother. Anna then walks in and asks if she’s interrupting.

Justin calls Bonnie and leaves a message that he just got back from Arizona and Alex told him that she’s visiting Mimi. Justin hopes everything is okay and tells her to call him when she gets it. Alex assures that everything is fine and if something was wrong, she’d tell him. Justin agrees and suggests Bonnie must be getting a toy for her granddaughter.

Bonnie thinks to herself why EJ won’t just pay the ransom when he’s rich and wonders if he even cares about Susan. Susan hears her thoughts and assures that EJ does.

Xander questions Ava about EJ kidnapping Tripp instead of paying the ransom. Ava says she knew she shouldn’t have trusted EJ. Xander feels they have to call the whole thing off and let Susan go before someone gets hurt. Ava asks how he knows if EJ won’t still do something to Tripp if they let Susan go. Ava decides she can’t take the risk. Ava reminds him that if they let Susan go, Xander doesn’t get paid either. Xander says to hell with the money as he doesn’t want Susan or Tripp’s blood on his hands. Ava questions when he grew a conscience. Xander credits Sarah and says it’s bad enough that he kidnapped Susan for her. Ava insists that no one is going to die. Xander questions how she knows. Ava says she can’t go in to detail but she has a plan in motion to rescue Tripp. Xander is not confident but Ava insists that it’s going to work. Ava tells him to go back to Susan and wait to hear from her. Xander questions what she’s asking of him. Ava asks how hard it is to babysit one woman. Xander then reveals it’s no longer just one woman.

Susan and Bonnie speak to each other through their thoughts while they are gagged. Susan says she won’t let Bonnie talk badly about EJ. Susan then talks about a fantasy that Bonnie was having about Justin. Bonnie tells Susan to stop getting inside her brain. Susan talks about her powers helping Ben and Ciara several times. Bonnie asks if Susan isn’t scared. Susan responds that faith is the enemy of fear and she has faith that EJ will save them because nothing means more to him than his mom.

Anna tells EJ that she knows exactly what they were talking about and she’s shocked. Tony says he can explain. Anna states that she told Tony that she was not going to retaliate against Susan but apparently he didn’t get through to EJ since she just heard EJ says he can’t trust her not to get revenge on Susan for breaking her crystal heart. EJ questions that being what she heard. Anna then reveals that she got a new crystal heart and says that now Susan is safe, but Tony responds that she isn’t.

Steve reveals to the bartender that whoever took Tripp left one of the place’s matchboxes behind at his place. The bartender says a lot of people frequent the place. Kayla says she has questions. The bartender responds that he can’t give her any answers because of the place’s reputation. He says he has customers to tend to but Steve grabs him and pins him against the bar with his arm behind his back. Kayla then orders he tell her where to find Tripp or else Steve will make him cry for his mom.

EJ and Tony fill Anna in. Anna questions who would do such a terrible thing to Susan. Tony reveals that it was Ava and she’s after a ransom from EJ. EJ complains about Tony telling everything. Tony says he’s sorry but he couldn’t keep something of this magnitude from his wife. Tony tells EJ that this mess is all his fault. Anna questions why Tony is berating EJ when Ava has abducted his mother. Tony then reveals that in retaliation, EJ kidnapped Ava’s son Tripp.

Tripp is tied up in a hotel room while the man holding him complains that nothing is on TV and asks if he’s heard of Peacock. Steve and Kayla then burst in to the room. Steve knocks out the man and then they check on Tripp, who says he’s damn glad to see them. Steve and Kayla untie Tripp while he questions what they are wearing.

Ava calls Xander a colossal idiot for letting this happen. Xander questions her calling him an idiot when she’s the one who told him to kidnap Susan without making sure her son was out of EJ’s reach. Ava questions his bright idea being to hold Susan on his family’s estate. Xander argues that no one goes down there and questions how he was supposed to know that Bonnie would come looking for lanterns. Xander asks if he should’ve brought her here to the DiMera Crypt instead. Ava says at least it’s private. Xander says that’s until someone wants to pay their respects, not to mention all the ghosts if she believes in that. Ava decides they’ve both made bad decisions so there’s no reason to point any fingers. Ava then adds that this new complication could actually work in their favor since they could ransom Bonnie too which Xander questions. Ava points out that Victor has just as much money as the DiMeras do. Xander says he couldn’t do that to his cousin Justin since he’s been good to him. Ava mocks him getting all sentimental. Ava hopes Sarah is worth all the trouble. Xander says that she’s worth everything hence letting Ava talk him in to this ridiculous scheme. Ava reminds him this scheme could get them both paid. Ava adds that she should be hearing from her associates soon about rescuing Tripp. Xander asks if they are friends from her days in Philadelphia. Ava tells him not to worry and suggests he go back to the shed and make sure no more of his family decide to pick up gardening in November.

Alex tells Justin about how he was starting to think he didn’t have a shot with Stephanie. Alex notes Justin is distracted and asks if he’s listening since he thought he wanted to hear about his epic first kiss with Stephanie. Justin apologizes and says he’s just worried about Bonnie. Justin questions Bonnie not telling him that she was going to visit Mimi. Alex suggests maybe she didn’t want to bother him because she knew he was visiting with the twins. Justin remembers that he has Mimi’s number so he decides to give her a call. Justin asks Mimi to put her mom on the phone but is surprised when Mimi tells him that Bonnie isn’t there and she hasn’t heard from her.

Bonnie thinks Justin should be home from Arizona by now and wonders what time it is. Susan thinks about a sandwich. Bonnie tells Susan that she can keep trusting EJ while she believes Justin will come to her rescue.

Justin tells Mimi that he and Bonnie must have just got their wires crossed and he will call her as soon as he hears from her as they hang up. Justin informs Alex that Mimi said she hasn’t talked to Bonnie in days. Alex assures that Maggie said that Bonnie went to Chicago to visit Mimi. Justin decides he’s going to find Maggie to find out where his wife is.

Xander returns to the shed and stops outside as Bonnie’s phone goes off. Xander listens to the voicemail that Justin left. Xander says he’s sorry as he never meant for Justin or Bonnie to get caught up in Ava’s mess. Xander hopes this will be over soon as he puts the clown mask back on and heads in to the shed.

Ava’s vision of Charlie returns and notes that she seems nervous as he asks if she’s worried that EJ’s men have already killed Tripp. Ava tells him not to say that. Charlie talks about how it’s possible. Ava yells at him to shut up and insists that Steve is going to save Tripp. Charlie says that’s unless they take him out too. Ava tells him not to think like that while Charlie says one of them has to be realistic. Charlie talks about how EJ is not some innocent mark and is someone who thinks the rules doesn’t apply to him. Charlie argues that it’s a matter of time before EJ finds Susan and takes out Xander. Ava says that won’t happen. Charlie is not sure she believes that but remarks that if everyone else is dead, she still has him, assuming EJ doesn’t kill her too.

Anna questions how EJ could pull Tripp in to his blood feud with Ava. Tony didn’t even realize Anna knew Tripp. Anna talks about Tripp treating her at the hospital while Tony was with Chad, rescuing Abigail and Sarah from Kristen’s island. Anna praises Tripp as a doctor and questions why EJ would want to hurt a man like that. EJ responds that he hasn’t hurt him yet. Anna can’t believe it. EJ reminds her that Ava snatched his mother from this house and he only went after her son to even the stakes. Anna says that’s spoken like a true DiMera. EJ talks about Anna being perfectly fine being a DiMera. Tony tells EJ that they want Susan to come back to them, but first he has to let Tripp go.

Kayla thinks they should get Tripp checked out as a hospital but Tripp insists that he’s fine so they accept that. Tripp says he’s just hungry so Steve says they can take care of that. Steve then wakes up the man, who is now tied up, and asks why EJ sent him to kidnap Tripp. He responds that he has nothing to say to him. Kayla says they’ll see what more he has to say to the police because they are on their way. Steve tells Tripp that he has someone who will want to talk to him as he calls Ava. Ava quickly answers and asks if Steve found her boy. Tripp answers the phone and Ava is relieved to hear his voice as she asks if he’s okay. Tripp assures that he’s fine and safe as Steve and Kayla found him. They have EJ’s man sent away with the police. Steve hopes they put him away for a long time while Kayla hopes he rolls over on EJ. Tripp just wants to get out of here which Kayla calls a fantastic idea. Steve asks if the man said anything about EJ. Tripp says no and wonders what this is all about. Tripp adds that EJ already exposed Ava’s marriage to Jake as fake and forced her to leave Salem, so he questions why he would need to kidnap him. Steve responds that Ava said it was because she defied him and came back to town. Tripp questions why he’d care so much. Steve says that’s what he wants to find out.

Anna tells EJ that she’s sure he’s worried about his mother’s safety, but Tripp is innocent. Tony thinks if EJ lets Tripp go, Ava will see reason and return Susan to him unharmed. EJ argues that’s if he pays $20 million. Tony thinks Ava will just want it to be over at this point. EJ then gets a call from Ava, who informs him that Tripp is safe and the guy he hired to take him is now in a Seattle jail. EJ argues that she’s bluffing, so Ava sends him a picture of Tripp to confirm. Ava figured he might not believe her so she had Tripp send a selfie to prove he’s out of danger. EJ says that she has her son back, so now he wants his mother. Ava declares that after this stunt, it’s going to cost him another 10 million. Ava reveals that she wants $30 million now or she’ll put a bullet in Susan’s head. EJ reluctantly agrees to pay her whatever she wants but he wants proof that Susan is alive. Ava offers to send him a picture but EJ wants to see her in person. Ava says no way. EJ argues that she’s this close to the biggest payday of her life, but if he doesn’t see Susan’s face, she won’t get anything. Ava then agrees to send him a location, but warns that if EJ tries to double cross her again, it will be Susan who pays.

Justin returns to the living room and informs Alex that Maggie showed him the text from Bonnie and it’s just like Alex said. Alex questions why Bonnie would send that text if she wasn’t really going to see her daughter. Justin doesn’t like this and mentions that Maggie said the last time she saw Bonnie, she was heading to the gardening shed for lanterns to use as decorations for Victor and Maggie’s anniversary dinner but nobody has seen her since. Alex and Justin then decide to head to the shed.

Tripp questions what EJ’s endgame was here if they didn’t find him. Tripp feels EJ didn’t plan to kill him and wonders what he was waiting for. Kayla argues that EJ is no dummy so she’s sure he had a pretty good reason to do something this extreme. Tripp wonders if Ava was lying about why he was kidnapped. Steve says they don’t know but he would bet that Ava did something to provoke EJ.

Justin and Alex rush in to the gardening shed and are shocked by what they find.

EJ yells in frustration. Anna encourages that he’s doing the right thing. Tony admits $20 million is not spare change but at the end of the day, it is just money. Tony encourages that EJ is getting his mother back. EJ asks if they really think this is over between he and Ava and that she’ll just take her money and go. Anna asks why she wouldn’t. EJ argues that Ava Vitali is not right in the head.

Ava tells her vision of Charlie that she told him that Steve would save his brother and now EJ is going to have to pay up. Ava declares that she’s going to be set for life and asks what more she could’ve asked for. Charlie argues that $30 million is nothing to a guy like EJ and he’ll barely know it’s gone. Charlie says EJ will just be annoyed for a day and then move on but questions if that’s really punishment for what he did to her. Charlie tells Ava that if she really wants to make EJ pay, she should kill Susan.

Brady goes to Basic Black where Nicole is working. She asks about his meeting at Titan. Brady responds that it was long but the main takeaway was that Alex loved Nicole’s cover shoot with Eric for Bella Magazine and wouldn’t shut up about the chemistry they had. Brady reveals that Alex is so excited that he wants to a second cover shoot with them.

Eric sits at the Brady Pub and looks at Jada’s number on his phone when Rafe enters the Pub and approaches him.

In the DiMera Office, Stefan grabs Gabi and says he hates her. Gabi responds that she hates him more.

Li sits in the town square while on the phone, asking if they are sure that Wendy logged in from Jakarta. Li thanks them for the information and hangs up, wondering what Wendy is up to.

Johnny and Wendy get close as he asks her what’s wrong. Wendy says his hands are freezing. Johnny disagrees and wonders if she’s getting sick as he touches her face. Wendy then admits maybe she is a little nervous. Johnny apologizes if he made her uncomfortable but Wendy says it’s not him, it’s what they are about to do. Wendy talks about tracking down the mysterious Dr. Rolf and worries that he’s a really dangerous guy. Johnny questions if they are talking about his cold hands or if she’s getting cold feet. Johnny asks if she wants to abort the mission.

Stefan and Gabi pull away from each other when Chloe enters the office. Gabi questions what Chloe is doing there. Chloe informs her that she works here now. Gabi asks if Basic Black is operating out of DiMera Enterprises offices now. Chloe reveals that she’s no longer at Basic Black and was promoted to DiMera. Gabi accuses Stefan of giving his girlfriend a promotion, but Stefan reveals that Li did and questions him not telling her.

Li wonders what the hell Wendy is doing in Jakarta, arguing that he knows she’s not there on DiMera business.

Wendy assures Johnny that she does not want to abort the mission after spending 36 hours to get here and that she’s totally committed to this. Wendy declares that if Li is involved in something shady, she needs to know. Johnny is glad she still feels that way. Wendy hopes there is some other reason that Li sent Dr. Rolf here that doesn’t have to do with brainwashing Stefan because she’d hate to think Li is capable of something so vile. Johnny says the difference between them is he knows all too well what EJ is capable of, but he hopes she’s right. Wendy doesn’t know why she’s so tense since she prides herself on being tough. Johnny understands since she’s going up against an actual mad scientist with formulas that can warp your mind. Johnny promises Wendy that he’s got her back. Wendy assures that she will get her nerves under control. Johnny says he has faith in her. Wendy then gets a call from Li.

Brady asks if Nicole is okay, pointing out that she’s wearing the same thing that she had on yesterday. Nicole informs him that’s because she was at the office all night. Brady questions that and asks where Holly was. Nicole informs him that she was at Maggie’s as they had planned a sleepover. Brady knows they are a little behind with everything since Chloe left and she’s been dealing with the modeling shoot, but assures that working herself to death won’t help. Brady advises her to take care of herself. Nicole responds that she wasn’t working all night. Brady asks if she and Rafe had a fight. Nicole calls it an uncomfortable conversation. Brady guesses that it was about Eric. Brady knows Rafe wasn’t thrilled about her doing a shoot with Eric and offers to talk Alex out of doing a second shoot. Nicole reveals that it wasn’t about the cover, but that last night she told Rafe that she and Eric want to be together.

Rafe brings Nicole’s laptop to Eric as he figured she’d need it for work and says he’ll send the rest of her things over. Eric informs him that Nicole isn’t here and he hasn’t seen her since yesterday. Rafe questions Nicole not staying there last night which Eric confirms she did not. Eric tells Rafe that he’s sorry but Rafe doesn’t want to hear it. Rafe informs Eric that Nicole told him that she’s leaving him for Eric. Rafe questions again that Nicole didn’t stay there last night. Eric calls it complicated. Rafe responds that it has to be awkward moving her ex-wife in under the same roof as his now ex-girlfriend. Rafe asks if Jada is getting kicked out now. Eric says she’s not. Rafe can’t imagine Jada would want to stay given the circumstances or that Eric and Nicole would want her to. Rafe asks if he’s missing something. Eric then reveals to Rafe that Jada is pregnant.

Brady tells Nicole that he can’t say he’s surprised to hear this since she and Eric always find a way back to one another. Brady asks how Rafe took it. Nicole says as well as he’d expect. Nicole knows now that she never should’ve married Rafe but she can’t help feeling that she’s getting exactly what she deserves.

Gabi questions what Chloe did to deserve a job at DiMera HQ and remarks that it must have been good to overcome 16 negative reviews. Chloe explains that those reviews were all written by Kristen and were all false, adding that now that Kristen doesn’t work there, they have magically disappeared from her file. Gabi asks when this all happened. Chloe says it was last week. Stefan asks if Li told her and she forgot. Gabi insists that she doesn’t forget things. Stefan then suggests maybe Li is keeping secrets from Gabi.

Li calls Wendy, pointing out that she’s never away from her phone so he wonders if she’s avoiding him for some reason.

Johnny tells Wendy to let the call go to voicemail but Wendy says she can’t since Li knows she’s attached to her phone and she’s already missed some of his calls today, so he’d get suspicious. Johnny questions if he usually calls her several times a day like a controlling big brother. Wendy wonders if Li could be calling because of a work emergency while Johnny points out that Li could be on to them so they need to go find Dr. Rolf. Wendy then exits with Johnny.

Li leaves a message for Wendy to call him as soon as she gets it because it’s urgent.

Dr. Rolf is working in his lab as his phone rings nearby with a call from Li.

Gabi tells Stefan that Li doesn’t keep secrets from her. Stefan points out that she just said he didn’t tell her about Chloe’s promotion. Gabi argues that he probably didn’t think it was worth mentioning. Gabi adds that she understands why Chloe would want to work at DiMera and that she’s been having a hard time at Basic Black. Gabi guesses it’s probably a relief for Chloe to get away from Brady now that they have broken up. Gabi then gets a text about her wedding invitations and shows them pictures. Stefan questions Gabi getting married on New Year’s Eve. Gabi asks what could be better than the whole world throwing a party for them with fireworks. Gabi remarks that Stefan looks unsettled and asks if he has a problem with her getting married so soon.

Li leaves a message for Dr. Rolf, warning him that Wendy may try to contact him and he is not to tell her anything. Kristen walks by and questions him saying Rolf’s name, so she asks if there’s a problem. Li confirms that there is a big one.

Johnny and Wendy go to Dr. Rolf’s lab. Johnny tells her not to worry as he’ll be outside the entire time. Johnny instructs her on how to use the wire and microphone. Wendy jokes that she bets he never thought he’d be using his fancy film equipment for something like this. Johnny tells her about how when he was a kid, he wanted to be an FBI agent and learned a few tricks from Rafe. Wendy comments that it sounds like he’s had quite a past. Johnny says he’ll tell her all about it when they get home. Johnny reminds Wendy that if she needs any help at all, their secret word is “black belt”. Wendy then knocks on the door and greets Dr. Rolf when he answers the door.

Brady questions why Nicole would say that she’s getting what she deserves. Nicole brings up that she’s made so many bad choices, pointing out that she cheated on Eric with a man she detests, blew up EJ and Sami’s marriage, and then blew up Rafe’s relationship with Ava, who was her best friend at the time. Brady argues that Nicole did Rafe a favor there and EJ and Sami can take most of the credit for their own relationship falling apart. Nicole tells him to stop trying to make her feel better and remarks that she’s no better than Ava. Brady points out that Ava is a mafia princess and a ruthless criminal. Brady reminds her that Ava framed Rafe and tried to send him to prison. Nicole responds that she broke Rafe’s heart by continuing to tell him that she loved him and wanted to be with him. Brady feels she was saying what she believed at the time. Brady states that if anything, Nicole lied to herself. Nicole says when she stopped lying to herself and knew that she was falling back in love with Eric, she still told Rafe that she loved him and wanted to be with him. Brady understands it’s going to be tough on Rafe. Nicole reveals that Rafe’s not the only one because when Eric went to tell Jada the news, she had some news of her own to share.

Rafe questions Jada being pregnant. Eric reveals that’s why Jada fainted. Rafe remarks that Eric knocked Jada up despite knowing that he was in love with another woman. Eric declares this conversation to be over. Rafe asks if Jada knows that Eric is leaving her or if this changes his plans for the future. Jada then enters the Pub.

Nicole informs Brady that Jada just found out that she’s pregnant last night after fainting. Brady asks what that means for Nicole and Eric. Nicole responds that she doesn’t know since she was so rattled by the news that she took off and hasn’t spoken to Eric since. Brady asks if she’s just going to sit here and drive herself nuts. Brady suggests she call Eric and talk to him. Nicole worries that she doesn’t want to hear what she knows in her heart he’s going to say. Nicole says Eric is such a good guy and he’s always wanted a child, so she’s sure he’s going to do the right thing and stay with Jada.

Eric checks on Jada, who says she’s fine and is just here to get her stuff which Eric questions. Jada argues that he can’t expect her to stay here. Eric asks where she will go. Jada suggests the Salem Inn or that Steve and Kayla can help her find a place. Rafe stops her and asks if she needs a hand but she says she’s fine. Rafe points out that Jada can’t be lifting heavy boxes. Jada questions Eric telling Rafe that she’s pregnant and asks where the hell he gets off talking about her body to her boss. Eric apologizes. Jada questions if Eric was just trying to explain to Rafe why he’s not riding in to the sunset with his wife. Jada tells Eric not to let her stop him and that he can have Nicole because she wants nothing to do with him ever again.

Li sits with Kristen and tells her about Wendy being in Jakarta. Kristen questions how Wendy would have out where he stashed Dr. Rolf. Li says he has no clue because the only person he told was EJ. Kristen wonders why Wendy cares about Rolf at all to track him down halfway across the world. Li responds that the only possible reason he can think of is that she somehow suspects what they did to Stefan.

Dr. Rolf asks who the hell Wendy is. Wendy introduces herself as Li’s sister and says she’s heard so much about him. Wendy claims that Li sent her personally to ensure he has everything he needs. Wendy calls the lab beautiful. Dr. Rolf asks her to get him another supply of fruit flies which she says she will get right on. Dr. Rolf mentions being surprised that Li didn’t let him know she was coming. Wendy says she’s sure he sent him an e-mail and he probably just missed it since he was determined to give him a royal welcome. Wendy adds that Li is extremely grateful for everything Dr. Rolf has done for him. Dr. Rolf says she must mean his years of faithful service to DiMera Enterprises. Wendy says there’s that but also the way he brainwashed Stefan in to falling out of love with Gabi, so that Li could have her to himself. Johnny listens in from outside the lab.

Stefan tells Gabi that he has no problem with her wedding and asks why he would care. Gabi asks why he brought it up then. Stefan says he just doesn’t know why she’s getting married so soon when she’s a bells and whistles type of person and that takes time. Gabi argues that she’s known Li for years. Stefan brings up that weeks ago, she said she loved him and asks if now she’s getting married to throw it in his face. Gabi remarks that he’s lucky that’s the only thing she threw in his face. Gabi argues that she was engaged to Li way before Stefan magically rose from the dead and she thought her marriage didn’t bother him. Stefan says it doesn’t and explains that it’s an important day for him because the first time he stepped foot in Salem was New Year’s Eve. Gabi says she knows since she was there the day that Vivian unleashed him on this town. Gabi tells him to think of all the pain they could’ve been spared if he just stayed where he came from. Chloe thinks Gabi is being a little harsh. Chloe knows Gabi is feeling some things and may be rejected, but they have both moved on. Gabi then questions if Stefan has moved on with Chloe. Gabi asks if they went trick or treating with Holly and then became a couple. Stefan points out that Gabi knew he had feelings for Chloe. Gabi remarks that Chloe moves fast while Stefan argues that Brady moved Kristen in to his house, so he asks why Chloe shouldn’t be able to move on with her life. Gabi asks if next they are going to tell her that their wedding day is Christmas. Chloe responds that they are taking things slowly. Gabi decides to go find Li and exits the office. Stefan remarks that he thought she would never leave.

Eric asks Jada if they can at least talk. Jada says there’s nothing to talk about and tells him to go be with Nicole as she doesn’t need him in her life and she can take care of herself. Eric argues that it’s not just about her anymore. Jada remarks that Eric would probably be with Nicole now if she didn’t find out she was pregnant. Eric states that it involves him as they are in this together. Rafe decides to give them some privacy and tells Jada to say the word if she needs anything or if she needs any time off. Jada thanks him and says she’ll let him know down the line, depending on what she decides to do. Rafe says he understands and exits the Pub. Jada tells Eric that she’s going to pack. Eric stops her and points out that they have separate rooms and she paid her rent for the month, so she doesn’t have to rush out. Jada guesses she can take some time to think things through. Eric knows she has decisions to make but before she does, he just wants her to know one thing.

Brady argues that Nicole doesn’t know what Eric is going to do as Jada being pregnant doesn’t mean he is going to stay with her. Brady points out that people co-parent all the time without being couples. Nicole asks if he really thinks Eric is going to walk away from the mother of his child. Nicole then brings up Brady and Chloe, which Brady says is a completely different situation. Nicole disagrees because Brady and Chloe love each other, but Brady broke up with her and moved Kristen in because she’s the mother of his child.

Kristen tells Li that Wendy just got in to town, so she questions why she would know anything about Stefan, much less care about what happened to him. Li says he’s been racking his brain trying to figure out what could be driving her. Li then reminds Kristen of when they came out of the conference room and Wendy was there. Kristen wonders if she was eavesdropping. Li points out that they were talking about Dr. Rolf. Kristen notes that he didn’t say anything about Jakarta. Li says it’s all starting to come together because Wendy has always been too curious for her own good. Kristen tells Li that he’s going to have to track down his sister and get her in line before she finds out what he did to Stefan.

Dr. Rolf claims he doesn’t know where Wendy heard that he brainwashed Stefan. Wendy claims that she heard it straight from Li and asks if he’s calling Li a liar. Dr. Rolf says of course not and that he’s just surprised he confided in her. Wendy claims that they tell each other everything as they are very close. Wendy adds that Li was extremely grateful for what Dr. Rolf did to make sure Stefan didn’t come between he and Gabi. Dr. Rolf says it was nothing and he was glad to help. Johnny listens in from outside and says now they just need to get EJ’s involvement on record. Wendy tells Dr. Rolf that working at DiMera Headquarters has been very enlightening, seeing all the alliances that seem to change by the day. Dr. Rolf calls it an invigorating place to work and remarks that change is the spice of life. Wendy brings up how a few weeks ago, EJ and Li were mortal enemies. Wendy then accidentally sets off a sensor in the lab which hurts Johnny’s ear as he was listening and he questions what that was. Dr. Rolf asks what he heard outside but Wendy claims not to have heard anything. Dr. Rolf checks his device and says it’s detecting electromagnetic interference. Wendy tries to leave but he stops her and uses the detector on her, saying he seems to have found the source is her. Dr. Rolf guesses that Li didn’t send Wendy and questions what she’s really doing here, wearing a wire. Wendy shouts for him not to come near her and says her and Johnny’s safe word of “black belt”. Johnny then tries to open the door as Wendy questions what Rolf is doing with the syringe. Johnny manages to get the door open and finds Wendy unconscious on the floor.

Stefan tells Chloe that he doesn’t know why he reacted like that or what kind of reaction Gabi was trying to get out him by rambling on about her wedding. Stefan asks if Gabi is trying to make him jealous. Chloe says she clearly is. Stefan insists he sees nothing but contempt when he looks at Gabi. Chloe asks if he’s sure about that.

Li questions Kristen saying it’s what he did to Stefan when it’s what they did. Kristen credits it as Li’s idea. Li points out that she gladly went along with it. Kristen says if she’s found out, no one will care which is an advantage of her reputation since everyone expects her to be underhanded and devious. Kristen adds that since Brady and Chloe already broke up, if Stefan does get his memory back, it will make no difference to her compared to if Gabi finds out what he did to Stefan. Gabi then walks by and greets them, asking what’s going on.

Brady tells Nicole that the situation between he and Kristen is extremely complicated. Nicole says she knows but what’s simple is that Brady and Kristen are together again, raising their child. Brady argues that Jada is not Kristen. Nicole brings up when she was with EJ and how she was so desperate to hang on to him that she stole Sami’s baby after she had a miscarriage. Nicole says EJ stayed with her and he’s hardly a man of honor and duty while they both know that Eric believes in the traditional meaning of family. Brady argues that’s not what they grew up with. Nicole suggests it’s what Eric has always dreamed of and he’s never been as close to having it as he is now.

Eric apologizes to Jada and says he’s sorry that he allowed them to get too serious. Jada says it’s good that he realized sooner than later that he’s in love with Nicole. Jada admits that she suspected it but chose to be in denial about it. Eric thought they were safe. Jada reminds him that birth control isn’t always 100%. Eric acknowledges that it’s Jada’s body and her choice, so he will support her in whatever she decides to do. Jada is surprised that he’s so open minded since he used to be a priest. Eric points out that he’s left the priesthood twice, so he’s not going to make any demands. Eric then admits that if it makes a difference, he always wanted a child but never thought he’d have one of his own. Eric tells Jada that if she does decide to carry the baby, she can count on his support, financially and any other way she wants. Eric promises to be there for the baby and for her if she wants him to be. Jada asks where that leaves he and Nicole.

Nicole tells Brady that she can’t ask Eric to turn his back on the one thing he’s wanted his whole life. Brady points out that Eric has wanted Nicole his whole life. Brady knows Nicole has often thought she doesn’t deserve happiness but she does and so does Eric. Brady hopes they find that happiness together. Nicole thanks Brady and hugs him, calling him the best friend anyone could ask for. Rafe then arrives and drops off Nicole’s laptop, mentioning that he brought it by the Pub but she wasn’t there. Rafe adds that he just heard about Jada’s news and guesses that really throws a wrench in to her plans with Eric, but remarks that clearly she’s already moved on. Nicole argues that Brady is just being a friend. Rafe says knowing her, she should keep her options open and tells her to never come crawling back to him.

Stefan assures Chloe that he hates Gabi but notes that she still doesn’t seem convinced. Chloe feels Stefan was very eager to throw their relationship in Gabi’s face. Stefan says he wanted Gabi to see that he’s very happy with Chloe and that she’s the only woman for him. Chloe and Stefan then kiss.

Gabi asks if she’s interrupting something. Li claims that Kristen was just asking for her job back and got upset when he told her there’s nothing he can do without EJ’s approval, since he is only second in command. Kristen says it was worth a shot but if there’s nothing he can do for her, there’s no point in wasting their time, so Kristen walks away. Gabi then asks Li if he’s lying to her. Li asks what she’s talking about. Gabi reminds him that he told her he would talk to EJ about getting her Gabi Chic back, but he just told Kristen that he couldn’t even get her, her old job back at DiMera. Gabi argues that Li made it seem like getting Gabi Chic back was very doable and questions why he made it seem like he had the power to help her. Li argues that those are two completely different situations since EJ sees Kristen as a traitor and wants her nowhere near him, while Gabi is more of a minor annoyance to EJ. Li adds that EJ doesn’t need two fashion houses anyway. Gabi agrees and thanks him, calling him the best. Gabi asks if Li managed to find his sister. Li informs her that it turns out, Wendy was playing hooky. Gabi calls that strange since she was so eager to get this job at DiMera Headquarters, so she questions why Wendy would blow it off on her second week at work. Li responds that she doesn’t know Wendy as well as he does and she’s full of surprises..

Johnny checks on Wendy and asks if she can hear him. Johnny worries about what was done to her as Dr. Rolf then reappears and stabs Johnny from behind with the syringe. Johnny then collapses and passes out next to Wendy.

Johnny and Wendy arrive at their hotel room in Jakarta, Indonesia. Johnny can’t believe they are here after a 36 hour flight. Wendy mentions being so tired. Johnny talks about bringing his film equipment and wanting to document his experience in Indonesia. Wendy reminds him that they aren’t here to make a movie, they are here to find out if EJ and Li brainwashed Stefan.

Gabi goes to the DiMera Enterprises office, looking for EJ but finds Stefan at the desk instead. Gabi questions what he’s doing there. Stefan explains that EJ is out of the office today, attending to a personal matter. Gabi responds that she’s here for a personal matter as well as she declares that she wants her company back.

Alex and Stephanie kiss at Allie’s apartment.

Paulina questions Sloan telling her that there was no mystery client that she was representing. Sloan confirms it was just her all along. Paulina asks if it was about the money. Sloan reveals that she wanted to make her suffer for revenge. Paulina questions why and asks who the hell Sloan is.

Allie questions Chanel admitting that she killed someone. Allie doesn’t buy that she would ever hurt anyone. Chanel responds that she did and she has lived with it for years. Allie points out that she never said anything. Chanel says she was going to tell her a couple weeks ago but she couldn’t. Chanel didn’t want her to know but now everyone is going to know. Chanel declares that the woman is dead because of her.

Stefan tells Gabi that this isn’t her company, reminding her that they kicked her out. Gabi says she’s talking about Gabi Chic. Stefan argues that Gabi Chic is now part of DiMera and questions why they would give it back. Gabi points out that they have Basic Black and questions why they need two fashion houses. Stefan responds that Gabi Chic makes them lots of money which they like. Gabi complains that it’s her company and concept that she built. Stefan remarks that she should’ve done a better job at retaining the rights. Stefan tells Gabi no and that she can go. Stefan adds that there’s nothing she can do to change his mind. Gabi attempts to slap Stefan but he catches her hand. Li then walks in and asks if he’s interrupting.

Johnny assures Wendy that he knows why they are here and she doesn’t have to bite his head off. Wendy apologizes and blames the jet lag, pointing out that she’s here to find out if her brother did something truly reprehensible and she’s starting to think that he did. Wendy says she doesn’t want to know but thinks maybe she has to. Johnny guesses he’s just used to everyone in his family being willing to do anything to get what they want. Johnny points out that if Li is involved, he did it because he loves Gabi while EJ just did it for power or force of habit since DiMeras have been taking over peoples’ brains for generations. Wendy calls him sweet. Wendy insists that EJ and Li are in this together and sent Dr. Rolf out of the country to cover their tracks, so now they have to figure out what he knows but first they have to find him. Johnny decides first he needs a shower, so he removes his shirt and heads to the shower.

Sloan believes Paulina stepped on a lot of people as she clawed her way to the top, so she’s not surprised that Paulina doesn’t know who she is. Paulina questions if she’s wronged her somehow. Sloan responds that Paulina and her daughter did. Paulina asks if she started digging for dirt, found out about the incident and ran with it. Sloan snaps back that it wasn’t an incident, it was a death, and she took it very personally.

Allie tells Chanel that she is going to love her no matter what. Chanel is not so sure about that but Allie assures her that she is. Chanel doesn’t want Allie to know this about her but decides that she deserves to know the truth.

Stefan informs Li that he and Gabi were just talking shop. Gabi tells Li to tell Stefan that she wants Gabi Chic returned to her ASAP. Stefan says there is no way in Hell that EJ will return it to her. Li tells Gabi that he will talk to EJ and see what they can work out. Stefan remarks that it looks like Li’s personal and professional life are on a major collision course as he’s caught between Gabi and EJ. Stefan comments that Gabi is so touchy and asks if she has pre wedding jitters. Li informs Stefan that he actually came looking for Wendy as she wasn’t in her office. Stefan responds that she is working remotely today which Li questions.

Johnny comes out of the shower in just a towel as Wendy is checking her work e-mails since people will be wondering why she’s not in the office. Wendy asks if Johnny is going to get dressed. Johnny asks if he’s distracting her. Wendy points out that he’s dripping water everywhere. Johnny says first he had a thought that he wanted to share with her. Johnny doesn’t think there is any way that Dr. Rolf would’ve ever agreed to come here unless EJ and Li set him up with a high tech lab. Wendy says that sounds like a good place to start.

Chad calls Stephanie and leaves a message, saying he wanted to give her a heads up that Sloan gave Gwen the file on Chanel. Chad says he convinced Gwen to sit on it and run the story on Melinda instead, but he thinks they should still get together and figure out how to move forward.

Alex and Stephanie continue kissing. Stephanie says that was nice. Alex is glad she approves. Stephanie suggests they should stop since Henry is in the other room and could wander back in. Alex doesn’t like it but agrees that they can’t traumatize him since Allie has enough to deal with as it is.

Chanel informs Allie that it all happened when she was living in London and still in college. Chanel adds that it was her senior year and she had an affair with one of her professors and his wife was the woman who died. Chanel says he was the very dreamy Dr. Nathan Bedford. Chanel explains that she was struggling in his class, so she thought that was why he was giving her extra attention and that he was trying to help her catch up in his classes. Chanel says she would go to his office because he would ask her to and he really seemed to care about what she thought. Chanel recalls him taking her to the rooftop of the English department to show her locations from the book they were reading. Chanel talks about it being beautiful and that’s when he kissed her which she calls thrilling to her and that was the start of the affair and the start of the worst thing that has ever happened to her.

Kate goes to see Chad at the Horton house. Chad asks how she is. Kate says she’s fine outside of being asked that. Chad reminds her that he and Roman both thought they were going to lose her. Kate understands they’ve been through a lot. Kate asks Chad about the Paulina situation. Chad responds that he and Stephanie have been on damage control since the story broke. Kate asks how that’s going, given how he feels about Stephanie. Chad is surprised she remembers that but reminds her that he also said he wasn’t ready for anything to happen between them. Kate asks if that’s still the case. Chad responds that it doesn’t matter as there’s no point since Stephanie is dating Alex Kiriakis.

Alex and Stephanie pick up Henry’s toys together. Alex brings up that it’s hard to believe that a couple weeks ago, she couldn’t stand him but now apparently she can. Stephanie points out that when they first met, he was very obnoxious. Stephanie adds that it wasn’t completely his fault since it was bad timing. Stephanie explains that the last guy she dated came on strong like he did and she really fell for it but then he just ghosted her. Stephanie says Alex was following the same playbook so she wasn’t about to let any man play her again.

Chanel tells Allie more about her relationship with Dr. Nathan Bedford and says it wasn’t just about the sex, but he would give her books to read and ask her questions about what she thought of them. Chanel says he made her feel like he listened and took what she said seriously and treated her like an adult. Allie argues that she was a kid and he was an adult that used his position and status. Allie then apologizes and tells her to go on. Chanel admits that she fell head over heels in love with him and thought she would marry him. Allie asks about the wife. Chanel explains that he told her the marriage was loveless and toxic and that he was just there for the kids. Allie asks how long they were together. Chanel says it was almost the whole semester and then one night, she got a text from him saying to meet him on the rooftop which was their special place, only when she got there, it wasn’t him. Allie guesses it was the wife which Chanel confirms.

Paulina questions how personal this vendetta of Sloan’s is. Sloan guesses it’s finally clicking in to place. Paulina says she didn’t see it before but now she sees a slight resemblance to Dr. Bedford’s wife, who Sloan notes that Chanel murdered.

Li tries calling Wendy but she doesn’t pick up, so he wonders where she is. Gabi suggests she’s at home. Li says he’ll see if he has her new address but Gabi reveals that she knows that Wendy is staying with Allie and Chanel. Li questions when that happened. Gabi informs him that Johnny set it up. Li guesses he’ll head there now and invites Gabi to come with him. Gabi says she’s going to get the Gabi Chic paperwork together so that when EJ gives her the OK, she can hit the ground running. Stefan jokes that if EJ gives her the OK, Hell will freeze over. Li asks Gabi to come with him then but Gabi decides she will stay and wait for him. Li questions her staying here with Stefan. Stefan repeats that he has work to do. Gabi mentions that she will wait for the wedding invitations to print and then they can go over them together. Li asks if she’s sure she wants to wait. Gabi says she’d like to get them approved as soon as possible. Li says he’ll be back as soon as he can and tells them to play nice as he exits.

Johnny gets dressed and asks Wendy if she had any luck. Wendy says she’s looked through the corporate expenses but can’t find anything to Jakarta. Johnny wonders if they are disguising the lease as a regular office space and points out that it would take a lot of power for a full lab compared to an office. Wendy decides to check electricity bills and finds something.

Chanel tells Allie that the wife must have read the text because she knew about the rooftop and set the whole thing up. Chanel adds that when she got there, the wife lost it and called her a homewrecker. Chanel says she should’ve just turned around and left but she was so stupid. Allie encourages that she was just young. Chanel says she tried to explain to her that he said he was unhappy with his wife and was going to get a divorce in order to marry her, but she just looked right at her and said “he’s mine” and then slapped her. Chanel adds that she then told her that he was lying and he would never leave her. Chanel recalls the wife charging her and she tried to push her away but she didn’t realize how close they were to the edge and she can still hear her scream. Chanel adds that she looked over the side and she was lying there in a pool of blood. Chanel cries that she killed her.

Sloan informs Paulina that her mother was the strongest and smartest woman she’s ever known and the reason she became a lawyer. Sloan says she was in law school when she got the call and they said she killed herself which didn’t make sense, but then her dad called and said it was true. Paulina questions what exactly he told her. Sloan explains that he said he wanted a divorce and she couldn’t take it, so she jumped off a building but it didn’t make sense since she was a fighter. Paulina asks if her father never told her about Chanel then. Sloan calls Chanel his side piece which Paulina warns her about. Sloan then confirms that her father never shared that part of the story with her and when he resigned his position, she thought it was because he was grieving but now she knows the truth. Sloan recalls that he started drinking himself to death. Paulina reveals that when Sloan first started blackmailing her, she looked in to things and found out that he died a couple years ago. Sloan reveals that as he was dying, her father told her that her mother did not commit suicide, so at his funeral, she decided to find out the truth which is when she found out that Chanel had killed her mother.

Allie asks Chanel what happened next. Chanel didn’t know what to do and just stood there frozen for a long time, then suddenly the campus police burst through the door and took her to their office to ask her what happened. Chanel says all she could hear was what the woman said to her, so she just blurted out that it was her fault and confessed that she was having an affair with the woman’s husband and that she had pushed her which she then signed as her statement. Allie doesn’t understand since there was no trial and no one seems to know about this, so she questions how Chanel kept it quiet.

Paulina questions if Sloan is interested in the truth or if she just wants to be a self righteous victim. Sloan argues that she knows the truth because she read Chanel’s statement where she admitted to pushing her mother. Paulina argues that Chanel admitted to pushing her only to protect herself because she didn’t lure her to the roof or lunge at her. Sloan asks if it was self defense then why did she cover it up and hide the evidence, the surveillance photos, and the hush money she paid the school. Paulina argues that Chanel had been through enough, while Sloan complains that she got off scot free. Sloan declares that Chanel seduced her father and killed her mother, then Paulina just went and covered it up.

Kate questions Chad about Stephanie dating Sonny’s brother. Chad clarifies that it was one date. Kate asks how he feels about that. Chad thinks she can do better, but says he’s going to support her because that’s what friends do. Kate asks what happens when he decides he wants to be more than friends. Chad admits he doesn’t know if or when he will be ready to move on or he might never move on with someone else ever again. Kate encourages him not to say that as she knows Abigail would want him to fall in love again. Kate just hopes he doesn’t wait too long. Chad says Stephanie and Alex may crash and burn by then while Kate points out that they could also fall madly in love.

Alex says he’s ashamed to admit that he’s ghosted his fair share of women, though he was upfront that he wasn’t looking for a love or a commitment and just a good time, but looking back he knows he was a crappy thing to do. Stephanie asks why he was so scared of love. Alex says he wasn’t scared, but averse to it. Alex reveals that he thinks it’s because of his mom, Anjelica, who always told him growing up that love was a trap full of misery and pain. Alex states that Anjelica was pretty bitter after Justin left her for Adrienne, so instead of getting hurt again, she just went from one meaningless fling to the next. Alex guesses that he followed her lead but admits that she wasn’t wrong that if you don’t care, you don’t get hurt. Alex points out that Anjelica went to live a very sad life and became kind of desperate. Stephanie guesses that must have been hard to watch. Alex says especially after Justin and Adrienne seemed to have it all. Alex says that all this time, he told himself he was just like his mom and he would never have what they did, but then he met Stephanie.

Gabi goes through papers while Stefan complains about her waiting for Li in his office. Stefan asks her to keep it down. Gabi’s phone then rings from the printer, so Stefan suggests she answer it in the hall. Gabi answers the call and mentions not having the proofs but says she’s in her old office so she will look for them. Gabi then starts digging through the desk all around Stefan, leaving him frustrated.

Li shows up at Allie’s apartment, looking for Wendy. Alex informs him that Allie told him that Wendy went out of town but didn’t say where she went. Li thanks him for his time. Alex says he’ll let him know if Allie says anything. Li says he’d appreciate that as Alex shuts the door. Li then makes a phone call, saying he needs to locate his sister.

Wendy tells Johnny that if they are right, Dr. Rolf’s lab should only be a few miles away. Johnny jokes that with Jakarta traffic, that should only take an hour. Wendy says they need to get a move on but Johnny reminds her that they don’t even have a plan. Johnny argues that even if they find Dr. Rolf, he’s not going to just admit to brainwashing someone. Wendy suggests that she’ll say she’s here on Li’s behalf and came to make sure he has everything he needs. Johnny adds that he’d say EJ sent him but Wendy says that’s too risky since she’s sure Dr. Rolf knows that Johnny’s been on the outs with EJ. Wendy feels it’s better if she goes alone and pretends she’s in on everything to trick Dr. Rolf in to confessing. Johnny worries that he’d just deny it and they need proof. Wendy suggests using her phone to record him. Johnny responds that he actually has a better idea.

Chanel explains to Allie that after the campus cops took her statement, she called Paulina and she was on the next plane to London. Chanel says telling Paulina what happened was the hardest thing she had to do, but she went in to mother bear mode and met with the President of the school and convinced him that it would be a huge scandal if the truth came out that a distinguished professor had an affair with a young, impressionable student. Chanel adds that Paulina offered a sizable donation to make it all go away, so they said that she committed suicide while the surveillance photos and her statement all just disappeared. Chanel states that as far as anyone else knew, she was never there that night. Allie questions how Sloan got all this evidence then. Chanel admits she has no idea.

Paulina questions how long Sloan has been plotting all this. Sloan says it’s been about a year. Sloan explains that she tracked them to Salem and set up her practice here using her mother’s maiden name, Peterson, so they wouldn’t see her coming and then she waited for her moment to do as much damage as possible right when Paulina was running for Governor in the public eye. Paulina admits that she’s very much like her mother, pointing out that after finding out that her father was a lying cheat, she went straight to blaming someone else with lies, threats, and blackmail without ever considering that there may be another side to the story and that her mother isn’t the feminist saint that she makes her out to be. Sloan warns her not to say another word about her mother. Paulina remarks that she’s just saying that she’s like her while Chanel is like her. Paulina compares this to being like Sloan luring her to the rooftop, threatening her, and thinking she has her in her clutches. Paulina repeats that she and Chanel are very alike, so if someone charges her, she shoves back hard. Paulina warns Sloan to think about where she might land.

Allie insists to Chanel that it was self defense and that the professor preyed on her. Chanel mentions never seeing him again as he was forced to resign. Chanel talks about the guilt and how she kept pushing it down, trying to deny it which is why she was in the party scene when they met. Chanel declares that it’s all come back because she never paid for what she did. Chanel states that she killed that woman and now she has to face the consequences.

Sloan tells Paulina that no matter what she says, Chanel is going to prison. Paulina disagrees and argues that it must be hard for Sloan to accept that her father was a drunken sex addict and that her mother lured a young woman to the rooftop that night to punish her, humiliate her, and make her pay. Paulina declares that she instigated the fight and Chanel was only defending herself, so she’s not going to let Sloan rewrite history to ruin her daughter’s life. Sloan argues that Chanel is going to get what’s coming to her and what she deserves. Sloan promises that Paulina will too ass she storms out.

Stephanie gets Chad’s message about Paulina’s situation so she decides she better go check in. Alex thanks her for coming by and helping with Henry. Alex asks if they could go on another date. Stephanie responds that she would look forward to that.

Chad tells Kate that he doesn’t want to hold Stephanie back when he can’t promise anything. Kate jokes that Chad is always having to be fair and do the right thing. Kate says she pushes him because she wants him to be happy again which Chad says he knows.

Gabi finds her notes and says she’ll be waiting for the e-mail as she finishes her call. Stefan tells her that it’s time to go but Gabi refuses. Stefan tells her to go wait somewhere else and tries dragging her out. Stefan says he wants her out now but Gabi refuses. Stefan grabs her and they get close.

Li walks through the town square and gets a call. Li answers and asks if they found his sister. Li is shocked and questions where she logged in from.

Johnny has Wendy lift her shirt so he can attach a wire to her with a mic to pick up everything Dr. Rolf says, while he will be right outside. Wendy guesses the film equipment came in handy after all. Johnny asks if he’s making her nervous as they get close.

Stephanie is at home on the phone, saying that Paulina has no comment and talks about believing in a person being innocent until proven guilty. She says that’s all for now and hangs up. Chad then shows up at her door and asks if she’s read The Intruder as he shows her the article titled “Another Price Daughter Arrested for Murder”. Stephanie complains that they are all sharks and they smell blood in the water.

Gwen goes to the Bakery but finds it is closed and wonders what to do now. Gwen looks at her phone and complains about trying to reach out for comment but the bakery is closed. Gwen questions how she is supposed to do a cover story on this if she can’t get in contact. Sonny then walks through the town square so Gwen approaches and introduces herself. Sonny responds that he knows who she is. Gwen brings up that his sister in law’s girlfriend was arrested for murder and unidentified sources say there is some sort of cover up going on. Gwen questions Sonny as to what Allie knows.

Allie calls Rafe and leaves a message, saying she needs to see Chanel but they say Melinda is not allowing visitors. Allie says to call her back if there’s anything he can do. Allie hangs up and then Alex shows up at her door. Alex says he heard about Chanel and thought she could use a friend. Allie hugs him.

Paulina is in her office on the phone with Belle. Paulina argues that she doesn’t care what Melinda says, she’s coming to see her daughter and remarks that she’s the Governor-elect, questioning if Melinda is going to arrest her. Belle understands where she’s coming from, but asks her to stay away as Chanel’s attorney since she and Abe need to avoid the press.

Melinda enters the interrogation room and asks Chanel if she’s ready to chat after a long night in lockup. Melinda questions if Chanel is ready to confess to murder.

Alex asks if Allie is okay. Allie says she not and complains about not being able to see Chanel after watching her get taken in to a cell last night. Allie talks about her son Henry asking about Chanel and knowing something was wrong. Allie adds that she didn’t get any sleep last night. Alex says he’s sorry. Allie doesn’t even know what this is about and questions where they could have got evidence from. Alex reveals that he knows where they got it from.

Sonny questions when Gwen became a reporter for the Spectator. Gwen responds that she’s asking the questions and asks Sonny when Will found out that his sister is dating a murderer. Sonny says no comment, especially after everything Gwen did to Chad and Abigail. Sonny remarks that she has no right to accuse anyone of anything and walks away. Gwen shouts that she’s still going to write about this. Sloan then approaches and says that maybe Sonny won’t answer Gwen’s questions, but she will.

Stephanie tells Chad that she tried to squash the story but The Intruder aren’t big on facts, integrity, or the truth. Chad says he’s well aware. Stephanie worries that their readers will believe this trash and lies. Chad acknowledges that he was a target before as The Intruder went after his one night stand with Gwen and then his alleged affair with Leo Stark, who he calls a lying rat.

Leo goes to Paulina’s office with her schedule and coffee. Paulina informs Leo that he’s fired. Leo argues that he’s the only one standing between her and the reporters outside. Paulina responds that she’ll take her chances with the press but declares that Leo is the vulture she needs to get rid of, because he’s the reason that her daughter was arrested for murder.

Melinda warns Chanel that it’s just a matter of time, so it will be better if she just confesses. Belle enters and questions what the hell is going on. Belle reminds Melinda that she can’t question her client without her present. Melinda says she was just greeting her, but says she is ready to question Chanel since Belle finally showed up. Melinda assumes Belle looked over the file of evidence they have. Belle confirms that she has and that’s why she is here to insist that she drop all the charges.

Gwen questions why she would believe a single word from Sloan. Sloan suggests she might have some insights that could be valuable to her. Gwen says no chance and brings up Sloan coaxing Leo in to lying to the police and how that obstruction of justice led to her being arrested. Sloan responds that there is no proof that she had any knowledge of her client’s true intentions and that she acted in his best interests with what she knew. Sloan adds that she is currently available for counsel. Gwen tells her to go to Hell. Sloan then reveals to Gwen that she is the one who gave the police the dirt on Chanel.

Alex informs Allie that Sloan is the one who had the evidence on Chanel and says he doesn’t know where she got it. Alex adds that Sloan is no longer his friend or anything else. Alex talks about Sloan blackmailing Paulina for some mystery client. Alex mentions having no clue about that when he stole the file from Sloan’s apartment. Allie thanks him but Alex says that Sloan somehow got the file back and gave it to Melinda.

Melinda questions why she would drop the charges when she has everything she needs to arrest Chanel in the file. Belle argues that they are in Salem and the incident in question happened when Chanel was living abroad in the UK, so Melinda doesn’t have jurisdiction here. Belle declares that she will find someone to uncuff Chanel and get her out of here. Chanel thanks her but Melinda warns that Chanel isn’t going anywhere. Melinda reveals that she received permission from Scotland Yard to question Chanel on their behalf. Belle laughs off the idea of a judge buying that but Melinda says she’s sure. Belle says they’ll see at the arraignment but until there’s a ruling, Chanel is not answering any more of her questions. Melinda says that’s fine and then asks if Belle saw Shawn at the station since they will need someone to haul in Paulina for questioning. Melinda declares that if Chanel won’t talk, maybe her Governor-elect mother will.

Leo asks Paulina to let him explain but she questions what the hell there is to explain. Paulina informs him that Stephanie told her everything, so now she knows that Leo is the one who let Sloan in to her safe. Leo argues that she left out that it was an accident and that he only opened the safe to execute her executive orders since she said he could have an advance on his salary to pay back Sloan. Leo adds that he didn’t want to interrupt her, so he opened the safe and took his advance from petty cash but he had no idea those documents were in there or that Sloan would snatch them from behind his back. Leo knows she probably wants to kill him right now. Paulina warns him not to give her any ideas.

Stephanie and Chad complain about The Intruder article. Stephanie suggests they stop focusing on the little details and focus on taking care of Paulina and her family. Stephanie declares that the question is how do they spin this.

Chanel asks what Melinda wants with her mom. Melinda responds that this file has evidence that Paulina was an accomplice after the fact and covered up the crime to cover Chanel’s ass which is illegal. Melinda thinks the people of the state should know who they elected as Governor. Melinda threatens to find someone on staff to make the arrest. Chanel then stops her and agrees to answer her questions. Belle tells her not to do this but Chanel declares that she will not let her mother pay for something that she did.

Stephanie tells Chad her idea to spin this as Melinda making it personal and being upset that she couldn’t get Lani, so she went after Paulina’s other daughter. Chad agrees that could work and calls her brilliant. Stephanie asks how to get this story to a media outlet that doesn’t do hatchet jobs. Chad mentions having an in with the only reputable newspaper in town in the Spectator. Chad adds that the Spectator hired a new reporter who is eager to make her mark in Gwen. Stephanie asks if he thinks Gwen will do him a favor. Chad admits he doesn’t know but says he’ll make it happen.

Gwen questions Sloan being the one who gave evidence against Chanel to Melinda which she admits. Gwen goes over how Sloan first tried to railroad her and now she’s going after the Governor’s daughter. Gwen accuses her of fabricating evidence and says she’ll never take her word for it. Sloan says she can just send her the file. Gwen questions her angle. Sloan says she’s just doing her duty as a good citizen and thinks the people deserve to know the truth that they just elected a mother of two murderers as Governor. Sloan tells Gwen to keep an eye out for her e-mail and walks away.

Alex assures Allie that he had no idea that what was in the file had anything against Chanel and if he did, he would’ve burned it right then. Allie understands he was just trying to help. Alex feels he ended up causing a colossal mess. Alex says he’s here for Allie to help her in any way he can. Allie thanks him and then gets a text from Rafe, saying he pulled some strings so she can see Chanel right now. Allie stops and questions what to do about Henry. Alex offers to babysit and reminds her that he’ll do whatever he can to help.

Melinda points out that Chanel said she doesn’t want her mother going down for something she did and questions if that’s an admission to guilt. Belle instructs Chanel not to answer that. Melinda says they’ll start with an easy one then. Melinda shows Chanel a photo and asks if she recognizes the woman and what her name is. Chanel identifies her as Martha Bedford and another photo of herself in college. Melinda then shows Chanel the copy of the incident report and asks if it is Chanel’s signature indicating that this is her sworn statement. Chanel confirms that it is, so Melinda asks if she is admitting to the murder of Martha Bedford. Belle stops her and says they are going to end this there. Melinda threatens to bring in Paulina if she needs to. Belle argues that Melinda can bring in anyone but this interview is over.

Paulina argues that she did not give Leo the OK to open her safe and since he took it upon himself, her daughter was arrested for murder. Leo asks if Chanel is innocent. Leo says he understands what she’s going through since he was falsely accused and he still has nightmares about it. Sloan then arrives and declares that Chanel is guilty as sin.

Gwen goes home to the Horton House and gets Sloan’s e-mail. Gwen calls it more lies and worries about getting a virus from opening it. Gwen then reads the e-mail which surprises her. Chad arrives and greets Gwen. Chad knows she just started at the Spectator and says he has a big story for her. Gwen responds that it’s not as big as the fish she just landed.

Leo complains that Sloan tricked him by plucking the file from Paulina’s safe while he was counting the money to pay her back. Leo accuses her of theft and tells Paulina to call the police so he can testify against her. Sloan points out that Leo just said his back was turned so he can’t testify. Leo retracts that statement and will testify against her. Sloan says she kept asking herself why Paulina would hire him but now it’s so clear. Paulina tells Leo to go because he’s done here. Leo says he’s just trying to help but Paulina says he’s just making things worse and tells him to get out. Leo warns Sloan that she has not seen the last of him and that she will regret messing with him in such a deceitful way. Leo then storms out of the office. Sloan remarks that another daughter made a mess and Paulina swooped in to clean it up, but all her power and money couldn’t stop it from blowing up in her face.

Alex plays with Henry until Stephanie shows up at the door.

Chanel cries that she doesn’t want her mother involved. Belle orders Chanel not to say another word. Melinda suggests she and Belle have a chat outside, so they exit the room. Melinda warns Belle not to test her as she will haul in Paulina. Belle argues that if she was going to, she would have done that already. Allie then arrives and declares that she’s there to see her girlfriend and no one is going to stop her.

Stephanie is surprised to see Alex. He explains that Allie went to see Chanel, so he offered to stay with Henry. Stephanie calls that nice of him and explains that she came to check on Allie as well and to make sure she knows what to say in case the press approaches her. Alex says it sounds like she’s on a PR mission for the Governor. Stephanie comments that she was only elected yesterday and already has a crisis, so she’s doing whatever she can to help. Alex relates to coming with that same plan and he ended up becoming the backup babysitter. Stephanie says it looks like he has everything under control on that front. Henry then starts crying so Alex goes back to him and assures that his mom will be back soon. Stephanie decides maybe she’s needed here after all and comes inside.

Melinda argues that the prisoner isn’t allowed any visitors but Allie reveals that Rafe says otherwise and presents her with his written authorization. Melinda decides she’ll have to have a word with Rafe. Belle points out that Rafe reports to the mayor, not her, so she sends Allie in to the interrogation room. Melinda calls the mayor Mr. Paulina Price and remarks that if Abe thinks he can sweep all of this under the rug too, then he’s in for a rude awakening.

Allie rushes in to the interrogation room and hugs Chanel.

Leo sits outside the Brady Pub as Sonny walks by and asks if he’s okay. Leo responds that he’s far from it and utterly miserable. Leo asks Sonny to console him. Sonny says he was just doing some early Christmas shopping for Arianna so he should probably get back. Leo calls him a great daddy and remarks that he wishes he had an adorable daddy buying him gifts, but this is going to be a scrooge year for him. Leo asks Sonny to sit for a few and promises he won’t keep him since unlike him, Sonny has a life, a job, a husband, a child, family, and friends. Leo questions why he would want to squander time trying to cheer him up. Sonny sits down and asks Leo what’s going on. Leo asks where to begin. Leo says he hates himself for being the most annoying person on the planet by all accounts and reveals his new career is over before it even began.

Paulina is not sure what Sloan is referring to. Sloan says to skip this part and mentions her assistant going to perjure himself. Paulina clarifies that Leo is no longer her assistant. Sloan declares that Paulina lied about the murder of T.R. Coates to protect Lani and now Melinda knows what Chanel did and how Paulina covered it up. Sloan states that’s two daughters, two crimes, and two cover ups, so now it’s only a matter of time before Paulina is arrested and led away in disgrace.

Chad tells Gwen that he will give her an SJ PR exclusive and asks if she’s ready for this. Chad notes that she’s distracted by her phone and questions if she’s listening to him. Chad argues that if she’s going to be a reporter, she’s going to have to pull herself off of her phone and focus on the news in front of her. Gwen reveals that she’s doing research on her new article. Gwen asks how the headline sounds “Damning evidence surfaces in Governor-elect’s criminal cover up. Chad questions her as Gwen reveals that she happens to have a copy of the evidence against Chanel and her mother. Chad asks how she got that. Gwen says a reporter never reveals her sources but since Chad seems so invested, she tells him that it came from Sloan. Chad questions Sloan giving her that. Gwen confirms that Sloan gave a copy to Melinda and a copy to her. Gwen notes that while Melinda is taking hers to the court, she will take it to the presses. Chad stops Gwen and says she can’t publish that. Gwen tells him to watch her.

Allie tells Chanel that she was so worried about her. Chanel says she’s good now that she’s here. Chanel cries that she’s sorry for what Allie must be going through. Allie says to forget about her when Chanel is the one in here and being falsely accused. Allie tells her that she and Henry miss her so much. Chanel asks about Henry, so Allie informs her that he’s home with Alex.

Alex and Stephanie put on a puppet show for Henry where their puppets end up kissing.

Sonny points out that it’s not like Leo gave Sloan the file. Leo assures that it was an accident and he would never be in cahoots with Sloan, but Paulina wouldn’t hear it and kicked him out the door like a common criminal. Leo remarks that he’ll never have his happy ending. Sonny encourages that maybe it’s not the end of the story. Leo says even though it was an accident, it was still his fault for opening the safe without Paulina’s permission. Sonny agrees that wasn’t cool. Leo says he was really turning a corner with a decent job, eating well, cutting back on drinking, and trying to be a good person but then he blew it. Sonny points out that Leo didn’t mean to hurt anyone this time. Leo guesses that he’s so used to crossing lines that he doesn’t even see them when they are right in front of him.

Chad tells Gwen that the allegations haven’t been proven yet and that Abigail would tell her that she needs multiple reliable sources so she can’t print it until she can verify it. Gwen appreciates the crash course in journalism 101 but says she’s good and thinks the documents that Sloan sent seem legitimate if they are good enough for Melinda. Chad says he would go to Jack, but he’s focused on Jennifer right now. Chad begs Gwen not to publish this. Gwen asks for a reason why not to. Chad reminds her that Jack trusted her and gave her this chance. Chad says Gwen helping get Jennifer the help she needed shows that she’s trying to be a better person. Chad urges her to keep that going instead of doing Melinda’s dirty work. Chad adds that Gwen knows from experience that Sloan can’t be trusted, so she has to decide which side she wants to be on.

Paulina asks why Sloan is doing this. Sloan argues that she broke their deal. Paulina says she stole the file and Sloan stole it back so all is fair in love and politics, but since they were back at square one, she would’ve paid her what she wanted and now she got nothing. Paulina argues that by giving the file to Melinda, Sloan lost all her leverage. Paulina remarks that her client must be thrilled that Sloan cost them a ton of money. Sloan guesses that since everything is out in the open now, she’ll let her in on a secret that this was never about the money.

Leo complains that he had an amazing opportunity and he blew it which is what he’s best at. Leo notes that he had a job with a decent salary and access to power. Sonny tells Leo that he’s really sorry and invites Leo to join him for breakfast at the Brady Pub. Leo says he’d love to but he’s poor. Sonny points out that Leo bought him dinner last time, so he owes him one. Leo questions if Sonny really wants to be seen with the disgraced former assistant to the Governor. Sonny doesn’t care what people think and notes that Leo looks like he could use a friend. Leo questions if they are friends now. Sonny says they’ll just start with breakfast.

Alex puts Henry to sleep and tells Stephanie that their puppet show must have knocked him out. Stephanie brings up that their date the other night didn’t end the way a date is supposed to. Alex asks how that is and says they make such a good team. Alex asks what else they should possibly do. Stephanie suggests maybe they should kiss.

Gwen agrees to go with Chad’s story and not publish the file, until she can verify it’s true. Gwen adds that she hopes it’s not true, so that she can write the story she’d prefer to write, trashing Sloan and Melinda.

Sloan tells Paulina that this wasn’t about a payout and has always been about payback. Paulina questions her mystery client never wanting a check. Paulina declares no more games and questions who her client was. Paulina demands Sloan tell her now or else one of them is going to leave the room in a world of hurt. Sloan then reveals that there was no client and the one who wanted payback was her.

Belle questions why Melinda is so hellbent on punishing Chanel and why she lets her personal feelings and need to be vindicated get her like this. Melinda argues that it’s her professional obligation as she has evidence that Chanel committed murder and got away with it. Belle disagrees with the evidence. Melinda warns that Belle is just prolonging the inevitable because Chanel is going down and so is Paulina.

Allie tells Chanel that this is all so crazy as they are saying she killed someone. Allie says she knows her better than anyone and there is no way that she could do anything like that. Chanel tells Allie that she’s so sorry but she’s wrong because she did kill someone.

At the DiMera Mansion, Tony paces in the living room and questions EJ deciding not to pay the ransom for Susan. EJ tells him to calm down and assures that he’s handling it. Tony complains that EJ is handling it by committing a major felony of his own.

Ava hugs Steve as he promises her that he’s going to bring Tripp home safe and sound. Kayla then comes home and sees Ava hugging Steve.

Xander walks past the Brady Pub and calls Ava, leaving a message questioning why she’s not picking up. Xander says he tried to be patient but she obviously didn’t have a plan B when EJ didn’t pay up to get his mother back. Xander adds that he’s had some complications on his end so she needs to wrap this up right now before his wife finds out what he’s done for Ava.

At the hospital, Jada announces that she is pregnant. Eric asks if she’s sure. Sarah confirms that is what the test indicates. Jada argues that it’s not possible since they used birth control. Sarah points out that it’s not 100% effective. Sarah assumes this is a complication.

In a hospital waiting room, Rafe questions Nicole saying she wants to be with Eric when a few hours ago, she adamantly denied it. Nicole tells him that she’s so sorry. Rafe asks why she married him. Nicole responds that she loved him and admits she still has feelings for him. Rafe cuts her off and tells her to stop humoring him and tell him the damn truth. Rafe asks if Nicole regretted getting involved with him when she realized she could get Eric back. Rafe declares that he was just a substitute for her real love. Nicole tells him that she feels terrible because he doesn’t deserve this since he was so good to her. Rafe stops her and doesn’t want to hear her try to absolve her feelings of guilt. Rafe shouts that he doesn’t give a damn anymore and just wants the truth. Nicole cries that she understands. Rafe repeats that Nicole told him just a few hours ago that she didn’t have feelings for Eric and swore to it. Nicole claims she meant it at the time but things changed. Rafe questions her expecting him to believe that she just now had these feelings since a couple hours ago. Rafe declares that these feelings for Eric aren’t new which she admits. Rafe brings up that they got married in June and asks if Nicole wanted to be with Eric then. Rafe then guesses it was before they even said their vows as it was the moment that Eric came back to town. Nicole admits she was confused when Eric came back to town and she was affected in ways she didn’t expect, but she insists she wanted to be with Rafe forever when they said their vows. Nicole asks him not to erase that. Rafe asks why not since she just did. Rafe declares that he wasn’t the one and she knew it. Rafe wishes he had known it.

Sarah tells Jada and Eric to forget that she said it was a complication as it’s none of her business. Sarah decides to let them talk. Jada asks if the test could be wrong. Sarah confirms the tests are very accurate but offers to run it again if she wants. Sarah then exits the room to let them talk. Eric tells Jada that he doesn’t know where to start or even what to say. Jada says she doesn’t either and says if only this was a happy surprise, but those are rare these days unlike unhappy surprises.

Steve greets Kayla and thought she was working late. Ava clarifies that he was just comforting her. Kayla assures that she’s not threatened but she does wonder why Ava is here since Tripp told them that she was moving to Seattle because of some problem she was having with EJ. Ava declares that EJ doesn’t get to tell her where to go or what to do.

EJ tells Tony that kidnapping Tripp was a solid defensive maneuver and asks what else he was supposed to do when Ava kidnapped his mother. Tony suggests paying the ransom and warns EJ not to play games with Ava because she’s dangerous. Tony wants EJ to swallow his pride and just wire the funds, but EJ tells him to trust him on this as he has no doubt that Susan is safer because of what he’s done.

Xander has a drink at the Brady Pub. Gwen appears at the table next to him and asks if he’s having a bad day. Xander admits he didn’t see her there. Gwen says it was obvious by the way he barged in that he needed that drink. Xander responds that he’s just unwinding and asks what she’s doing here. Gwen informs him that she’s working as it’s her first day at the Spectator and it’s a hell of a day to start since Paulina got elected and Chanel got arrested for murder which shocks Xander. Gwen questions him not knowing since the whole town is buzzing over it. Xander tells her that he’s been busy as it’s his first day at work too. Gwen asks if he’s finally gainfully employed. Xander claims that he is. Gwen tells him to tell her everything.

Kayla tells Ava that it sounds like a big problem with EJ. Ava doesn’t want to talk about EJ and says to forget him. Steve tells Ava that he said he would help her, but he’s not going to keep his wife in the dark which Kayla questions. Ava decides Steve is going to have to explain it because she has to take care of something. Ava reminds Steve that she’s counting on him. Steve says he will keep her posted as she exits. Kayla questions Steve as to what is going on. Steve reveals that Tripp has been kidnapped and shows Kayla the photo.

EJ tells Tony that he has Ava’s son and that’s checkmate. EJ declares that Ava will soon realize that and it will all be over. Tony notes that he seems awfully confident and asks how negotiations have been since kidnapping Tripp. Tony points out that Ava has gone radio silent. EJ tells him to just give her time. Tony warns that a mother desperate to save her son doesn’t need time. EJ argues that Ava is just trying to prove that she’s tough. Tony suggests Ava cares more about the money than the welfare of her son. Tony notes that he knows EJ thinks he has the winning hand but warns that it’s possible that what he’s done has brought him that much closer to losing his mother.

Xander tells Gwen that the company is called Rednax. Gwen calls it exciting. Xander says a job is a job and he needed the money since he was buried under debt at the Salem Inn and Sarah is still on probation with reduced salary. Xander finishes his drink and orders another. Gwen calls it funny as she never remembers Xander being interested in pharmaceuticals and companies like that usually hire people experienced in the field. Xander says he has tons of potential and is a hard worker. Gwen points out that he is an experienced con artist. Gwen then reveals that she searched the internet for this company and can’t find a thing, as if it doesn’t exist. Xander argues that it’s a brand new start up. Gwen says there should be some mention of it either way but there isn’t. Gwen questions why Xander is lying about his job.

Nicole cries that she wants to be honest with Rafe, but it’s complicated. Rafe tells her to give it her best shot. Nicole explains that when she accepted Rafe’s proposal, she wanted more than anything to be his wife but that was before she knew Eric left the priesthood. Rafe guesses he was right that she regretted getting engaged from the moment he put the ring on her finger. Rafe calls their marriage a farce from the beginning.

Eric questions Jada getting another unhappy surprise today. Jada responds that finding out she’s pregnant is the last thing she expected, but the timing is really hitting her which Eric questions. Jada asks Eric not to pretend and reveals that she saw him an hour ago, kissing his ex-wife. Jada explains that she went to Basic Black to look for him and there he was in a very passionate kiss with Nicole. Jada guesses shooting that magazine cover stirred up old feelings for them. Jada asks if he was planning to tell her. Eric says he was going to but then Rafe called to tell him that she fainted. Jada says now they know why. Jada adds that it’s been very obvious to her for awhile that Nicole has very strong feelings for him, but it wasn’t until she saw them kissing today and she can see the look in his eyes now, that his feelings for Nicole are just as strong. Jada tells Eric to just admit that he wants to be with Nicole, despite them and Nicole’s marriage.

Rafe holds back tears as Nicole tells him that she won’t call their marriage a farce. Nicole says she loved him on their wedding day and still loves him now. Rafe says it’s just not enough. Rafe reminds Nicole of when they had a fight a few weeks ago and he asked her if she rushed in to marrying him because she was afraid of her feelings for Eric, but she said no. Rafe guesses that wasn’t true. Nicole states that her and Eric were over for a long time as she felt neglected by him and he felt guilty for not putting her first, so they were never in sync. Rafe argues that they were in love and that’s the point he’s trying to make. Rafe accuses Nicole of using him as a convenient way to get over Eric like an escape. Rafe tells her to just admit it, so she does. Nicole cries that she’s so sorry.

Xander questions Gwen being convinced that he’s lying. Gwen insists that she knows him and guesses it’s why he’s drinking. Xander calls it a stressful day. Gwen believes Xander needs a job, but there isn’t really a job out there for a man of his talents and the pressure is on for him to provide for his new wife. Gwen guesses Xander is trying to make it look like he’s putting in 8 hours of work until he goes home. Xander argues that she thinks she’s so clever, but he is working. Xander then admits that the job he took is a bit illegal.

Kayla is shocked to learn that Tripp has been kidnapped. Steve explains that Ava came over to tell him and all they have to go on is the photo, so he guesses that Tripp is not far from his apartment in Seattle. Kayla tells him that she’s so sorry and questions who would want to do this or what they could want from Tripp. Steve says he doesn’t know but reveals that it looks like EJ is behind it. Kayla calls him a son of a bitch and declares that she’ll kill him herself.

EJ calls Ava and leaves a message, saying he’s concerned that he hasn’t heard back from her on his latest negotiation. EJ says surely they can get things going since they each have something the other wants. EJ warns that it’s not in her best interest to ignore him. Ava then arrives at the DiMera Mansion and declares that EJ is going to wish he just paid up as she calls him a miserable son of a bitch. EJ questions where his mother is. Ava asks where her son is. Ava argues that EJ lost his advantage when he kidnapped Tripp as she has as much on him as he has on her. Ava says she makes him nervous and asks if he’s not used to squaring off with someone when the odds aren’t in his favor. Ava declares that EJ has met his match and it scares the hell out of him.

Steve stops Kayla and says his first instinct was also to confront EJ but that’s not the safe move when Tripp’s safety is their priority. Kayla doesn’t understand why EJ would do this. Steve explains that EJ threatened Ava to get her to leave Salem, but she came back, so he guesses this is EJ’s way of making good on the threat. Kayla asks about Joey. Steve confirms he’s fine as they talked and apparently they covered their bases by telling Joey that Tripp was going camping, but he thinks they should let him keep thinking that for now. Kayla still doesn’t get why EJ would involve Tripp in this if his problem is with Ava. Kayla thinks there is something that Ava isn’t telling him.

Gwen is shocked to learn that Xander is working for Ava as he warns her to keep her voice down. Gwen remarks that at least now she knows where Ava went after she turned her down. Gwen explains that Ava showed up when she was in the hospital, asking her to get revenge on EJ. Sarah then arrives at the Pub and says she didn’t expect to see them there. Gwen tells her that they just bumped in to each other. Xander explains that after Sarah got called in to work, Victor and Maggie’s dinner fell apart and he didn’t feel like calling it a night yet so he came here for a drink. Gwen comments that Xander has been filling her in on his new job and calls it fascinating as she remarks that she’s sure there’s things he hasn’t even told Sarah about yet.

Eric admits to Jada that he’s been in denial about his feelings for Nicole for awhile. Jada asks if he means the entire time they were together. Eric insists that he believed he and Nicole were done regardless of his feelings since she was married, so he needed to accept it and move on with his life. Jada guesses that’s when he got involved with her. Eric calls her an incredible woman. Jada complains that she’s not incredible enough to make him forget about Nicole. Eric thought he could go in to a new relationship and give the best of himself no matter what he felt for Nicole, but he couldn’t and he’s sorry. Jada orders Eric to get out.

Nicole tells Rafe that she knows it has to hurt. Rafe stops her and tells her to just walk away. Nicole refuses to go until he understands that she loved him. Nicole swears that she thought committing to him would be the end of her feelings for Eric once and for all and the beginning of a lifetime of loving Rafe. Rafe tells her nice try. Nicole doesn’t blame him for hating her or if he wants to cut her out of his life forever, but she wants him to know that she meant every word of her vows and she wanted them to be the last vows she ever said. Rafe doesn’t buy it and asks when wedding vows ever meant anything to her. Nicole calls that unfair while Rafe argues that marriage is just a game to her. Nicole calls that untrue but Rafe brings up that Victor, Lucas, and EJ would disagree. Nicole asks him not to do this. Rafe says he’s just telling it like it is, since Nicole is who she is. Rafe points out that Nicole even cheated on Eric, the love of her life, with Xander of all people. Nicole tells him to stop but Rafe refuses and asks how long she’s been cheating on him with Eric. Nicole argues that she hasn’t been cheating. Nicole then admits that she and Eric kissed today but it just happened and wasn’t planned. Nicole says that she and Rafe had a fight and they were just in the moment. Rafe concludes that she just did what she wanted to do for months. Rafe asks what happened next and if it led to the conference table. Nicole assures they stopped right away and talked. Rafe asks if they talked about how much they wanted each other even though Eric’s got a girlfriend and Nicole has a husband. Nicole confirms they acknowledged their feelings for each other and what they have been suppressing for months now. Rafe asks if they came up with a plan on how to break up with him and Jada as quick as possible so they can get back to their feelings. Rafe declares that Nicole got what she wanted and clearly in the end, that’s all that matters to her.

Gwen tells Sarah that she was quite shocked to hear about the work Xander is doing. Sarah asks why. Gwen responds that pharmaceuticals is not something she thought Xander was interested in and she didn’t know he was qualified to work in that field but they know what a hard worker he is and his work ethic, so they are very lucky to have him. Sarah states that she’s very proud of him. Sarah then gets a call from the hospital and steps away to answer. Xander tells Gwen that he thought she was going to tell Sarah everything and asks why she didn’t. Gwen supposes it’s honor amongst thieves. Gwen adds that despite everything that’s happened, she still cares about him. Gwen says as much as she’d love to bust up he and Sarah, she doesn’t have it in her to hurt him like that. Xander thanks her. Gwen tells Xander that he’s free to go about with Ava’s bidding, but as someone who dodged that bullet, all she can say is best of luck to him.

Steve tells Kayla that he’s sure Ava is holding something back but she didn’t admit it. Kayla decides they can deal with that later as Tripp comes first. Steve says he’s getting on the first flight to Seattle but Kayla declares that he better make sure there’s two seats, because she’s coming with him. Steve says no but Kayla argues that he’s not going up against EJ alone.

EJ tells Ava to wake up and give him back his mother, because she doesn’t want to see what happens if she says no. Ava tells him to give her Tripp first and then they will discuss what it will cost him to get Susan back. EJ remarks that he won’t be strong-armed by a piece of trash. Ava questions EJ threatening her and bullying her. EJ accuses her of committing fraud and using his son, pointing out that she would be in prison right now if not for his compassion. Ava warns EJ not to piss her off or she will call her associate and have him put a bullet in Susan’s head. EJ then grabs Ava and starts choking her until Tony separates them. EJ shouts that she’s lucky that Tony was there, or else she would’ve ended up in the Crypt next to her fake husband.

Steve tells Kayla that EJ being behind this is not a reason to come with him but why she should stay home. Kayla says there’s no chance. Steve says he’ll call John so he won’t do it alone. Kayla argues that he can’t put John on the spot like that since he needs to be there for Marlena after she got out of the hospital. Steve doesn’t know what he’s walking in to and refuses to put her at risk. Kayla reminds him that she came to the rescue in Hong Kong when he was brainwashed. Steve argues that Kayla just got out of the hospital too. Kayla insists that she’s perfectly fine now and is not going to stay behind while her stepson is in grave danger. Kayla says she loves Tripp and if Steve is going to walk in to danger to save his life, then she’s going to be there to have his back. Steve guesses there’s no arguing. Kayla agrees and says to go pack.

Jada tells Eric to go find Nicole and says she’ll be fine. Eric points out that they haven’t talked. Jada responds that she doesn’t know what she’s going to do about the pregnancy but it’s not his problem. Eric argues that he cares about her and this pregnancy, so they need to figure this out. Jada asks what there is to figure out since he told her who he wants to be with and questions what else there is to say. Eric says if she’s trying to give him an easy way out, he doesn’t want it. Eric declares that they need to make decisions together about this baby together and he wants to be there for her as he’s not just going to walk away. Jada says fine but they aren’t going to come up with any answers tonight. Jada adds that she’s exhausted so she needs to close her eyes and regroup. Jada tells Eric again to just go, so he exits.

Nicole removes her wedding ring and gives back to Rafe, admitting that she shouldn’t have accepted his ring or his love because she didn’t deserve it or him. Nicole cries that Rafe deserves someone who is worthy of him and it’s not her. Nicole adds that she did everything wrong in this marriage while he did everything right. Rafe says except that he wasn’t Eric. Nicole then leaves the room in tears. Rafe cries while holding the ring. Rafe then leaves the ring behind on the table as he exits the room.

Jada lays in her hospital room while holding back tears.

Eric comes out of Jada’s room and finds Nicole. Nicole hugs him as he asks if she’s okay. Nicole informs him that she was just with Rafe and she told him everything. Nicole says it was awful but it’s done. Nicole then asks how Jada is.Eric reveals that Jada is pregnant, shocking Nicole.

Steve and Kayla pack their bags as Steve notes that if they make the flight, they’ll be in Seattle in 5 hours. Kayla asks about Stephanie and how she’s going to wonder why they just disappeared. Steve says with everything going on with Paulina, this is the last thing Stephanie needs to worry about. Kayla says she’ll call Stephanie and tell her they went out of town for a few days. Steve agrees that they will tell Joey and Stephanie everything after they rescue Tripp.

EJ orders Ava to leave and go assess her options until she realizes she has none. EJ screams at Ava to get out. Ava warns EJ to get his money together because she’s running out of patience. Ava remarks that if worse comes to worst, she can always send him a lock of Susan’s hair so that he has something to remember her by. Ava then exits and Tony holds EJ back as he throws a glass, smashing it against the door. EJ screams that she has no idea who she is dealing with. Tony says this has to end now and argues that he’s trying to help EJ face reality. Tony warns that Ava is unbalanced. Tony tells EJ to pay Ava off before something happens that he can’t control.

Sarah finishes her call and goes back to Xander while Gwen sits at the bar. Sarah tells Xander that everything is fine at the hospital so Xander offers to buy her a drink. Sarah instead suggests they go to Julie’s Place for a late dinner where he can tell her all about his first day. Xander agrees so they get up to leave when Gwen says to call her if he wants to talk which Sarah questions. Gwen explains that she’s working at the Spectator now so she told Xander she could write an article about his new company since start ups need all the publicity they can get. Gwen calls it her way of making amends of things. Xander thanks her but says that won’t be necessary as he then exits with Sarah.
