Chloe: Night.

Brady: Uh, chloe–sorry. Do you mind if I read something? I’m not sleepy. I just–I’m–

Chloe: Oh, for god’s sake, just come sleep in the bed.

Brady: I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.

Chloe: Just stay on your side.

Brady: Are you–are you– only if you’re sure.

[Sighs]

 

Chloe: What are you doing with that blanket?

Brady: Think of it as the wall of jericho.

[Sighs] This is much nicer. Thank you.

Chloe: Sure.

[Brady sighs]

[Tense music]

 

[Brady exhales deeply]

Johnny: [Sighs] Okay. Uh, she’s not answering your texts. That’s okay, buddy. You just gotta up your game. And…ah. Hey, chanel, it’s me. You know that it’s me because it’s a video of me. Hey, I’m sorry about my sister earlier causing a scene. I just wanted you to look at this face and ask yourself, do I look like a player? No. Do I look like somebody that is aggressive towards women? No, because I’m not at all. I think that women are actually the superior sex and that, you know, we would all be better off if they– if you ran the world, you know? I just think that–

Ej: Quite a performance. I take it that your date didn’t go very well. Hm?

Paulina: Honey, you’re a baker. You gotta be up in five hours.

Chanel: I know, but I’m just trying to figure out how to answer johnny’s text.

Paulina: Whose text?

Chanel: Johnny. Aka giovanni.

Paulina: Oh, right. Giovanni. [Chuckles] Damn, I like saying that. I like saying, “chanel and giovanni” even more.

[Chuckles] Perfect names for a perfect couple.

Chanel: Sorry to disappoint you, but we aren’t any kind of couple, let alone a perfect one.

Paulina: What happened?

Chanel: Allie.

Johnny: Are you jealous or something?

Allie: Don’t be dumb, okay? I’m with tripp, and chanel is my friend, and that’s it.

Johnny: I don’t know if I believe that. And deep down, I don’t think you do either.

Allie: [Sighs]

Nicole: Allie? Allie? Um…

Allie: Hi. Is something wrong with henry?

Nicole: No, no, it’s just that it’s late, and I saw your light on. Is something bothering you?

Allie: Not something. Someone.

Rafe: Good god.

Ava: Nice to see you too.

Rafe: Come on, ava. When a man comes home to find his girlfriend sitting in the dark with a suitcase, he’s not thinking it’s a surprise trip to hawaii.

Ava: No. No, I was waiting to tell you to your face. I’m moving out.

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

 

Rafe: What you have seen is that nicole and i are friends, but what you have imagined is more than that.

Ava: I’m not imagining it.

[Chuckles] I–it has been in my face for months, and I just have not wanted to see it because I care about you too much.

Rafe: I care about you too.

Ava: I know that. It’s just not enough. I don’t know when you and nicole became more than friends, but you are.

Rafe: Okay, for the last time, there is nothing going on between us.

Ava: Okay, then how come I saw her in your arms this morning?

Brady: You are not making this easy.

Chloe: Mm.

Brady: Oh.

[Light beeps]

[Sighs] What the…?

Philip: Why am i not surprised? As someone who resembles someone else…

Paulina: So giovanni is really johnny dimera?

Chanel: Yeah, his grandfather called him giovanni.

Paulina: I don’t care if he called him tweety bird. It’s the last name that counts. Dimera… as in dimera enterprises, as in the dimeras who have more money than the gdp of a small country?

Chanel: Mama, you should see the house. And they have a butler.

Paulina: They have a seat on the stock exchange. Oh, girl. [Chuckles] Oh, girl, you done good. You’ve learned from your mistakes.

Chanel: Huh?

Paulina: Mm-hmm, this time, when you set out to snag a rich man, you actually made sure that he really is rich. Not like that xavier person.

Chanel: Xander.

Paulina: Whatever.

Chanel: And I didn’t set out to snag a rich man. I didn’t even know johnny had money when I met him. I just liked him.

Paulina: [Chuckles] Well, if you like him poor, then you must be crazy about him rich. [Chuckles]

Chanel: Yeah, but he’s not. He’s on the outs with his dad. I met him too, ej dimera. Not a warm and fuzzy kind of guy. Like, he won’t give johnny any money for his movie.

Paulina: Well, so is johnny down in the dumps about that? Is that what made things hit the skids?

Chanel: No, things hit the skids because… johnny is allie’s twin brother.

Johnny: First of all, I didn’t blow the date, okay? And even if I did, I don’t think it’s that big of a deal to blow a first date. It’s nothing like blowing a marriage. How is mom, anyway? You talk to her lately?

Ej: No, no, I haven’T.

Johnny: I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that.

Ej: I think I had it coming to me.

Johnny: Still, it was below the belt.

Ej: I haven’t been exactly marquis of queensbury to you. Sorry.

Johnny: I miss her too.

Ej: I know that. And I haven’t made things any easier for you since you’ve been back.

Johnny: No, no, you’ve been a real jerk, whereas I have been, well, as allie put it, “just like you.”

Ej: [Chuckles]

Johnny: It’s not a compliment.

Ej: I didn’t think it was. Are you and allie not getting along?

Johnny: [Laughs] That would be an understatement, but no.

Chloe: Philip, what the hell are you doing here?

Brady: Trying to make an ass out of himself.

Philip: You really expected me to believe engine trouble in the middle of nowhere?

Brady: I don’t give a damn what you believe or what you don’t believe, philip.

Philip: I knew he was pulling a fast one. I was just trying to get here before it was too late.

Brady: Oh, my gosh, this is adorable, chloe. I think he’s here to defend your virtue.

Philip: No. I’m here to make you pay for whatever happened here tonight. It’s laundry truths, with cat and nat.

Brady: What happened here tonight was I tried unsuccessfully to get some sleep.

Philip: Uh-huh? You were distracted by being in the same bed with chloe.

Chloe: Because there was only one room left here, and I can’t let brady sleep in a chair with his bad back.

Brady: Yeah, acupuncture, yoga, pilates, I’ve tried it all; nothing works.

Chloe: He promised to keep his hands to himself.

Philip: Then why didn’t he? You two were like a pair of spoons.

Chloe: We were not.

Brady: Eh, to be fair, you were snuggled up next to me when he walked–

Chloe: Maybe in my sleep.

[Sighs]

Philip: At least I got here in time.

Chloe: Damn it, philip. There’s nothing going on here. But instead of trusting me, you fly here in a jealous rage?

Philip: It’s not you I don’t trust; it’s him!

Paulina: Allie’s last name is horton, and you’re saying johnny dimera is her twin? With a different last name?

Chanel: They have different fathers.

Paulina: You said they were twins.

Chanel: With different fathers; it can happen.

Paulina: Well, if anything can happen, it does in salem. So how did you find all this out?

Chanel: Well, tripp thought that the four of us should do a double date, so I said, “great,” because, you know, I wanted johnny to meet allie. And that’s when I find out they were twins.

Paulina: Okay, well, then they’re twins. What’s the problem?

Chanel: Well, remember when you told johnny I had kissed a girl?

Paulina: Mm-hmm, that didn’t seem to bother him.

Chanel: No, but then he brought it up with allie and tripp.

Paulina: Yeah, but they already knew, right? So you’re into johnny. Allie’s into trip. What does it matter?

Chanel: It matters to allie. Johnny and I were back at his place, and allie came barging in, and she went off on johnny.

Paulina: About what?

Chanel: She was saying that he’s nothing but a player, and that I needed to run in the other direction.

Ej: Why would allie have a problem with you dating one of her friends?

Johnny: She said it’s because I’m a player, and she doesn’t want me to hurt chanel.

Ej: I know this is just a first impression, but chanel struck me as a young woman who could hold her own. Why would allie think that she needed her protection?

Johnny: I guess ’cause she’s jealous of us.

Ej: Why would she be jealous of her brother dating her best friend?

Johnny: [Sighs] I don’t know. Maybe because her and chanel had a thing.

Ej: A thing?

Johnny: Yeah, I mean, nothing serious. They definitely kissed, but, you know.

Ej: Are you telling me your sister’s gay?

Nicole: So you had no idea johnny was dating chanel?

Allie: No. And johnny was dating chanel the way a jackal dates a gazelle.

Nicole: Ouch, you think that way about your brother, huh?

Allie: I’ve seen him in action, nicole. All he cares about is the chase. He’s no saint, and chanel deserved to know that, so when tripp told me that johnny and chanel almost slept together, I had to go over and warn her.

Nicole: How did that go over?

Allie: Not great. Johnny got really defensive, furious that I’d ruined their romantic evening, but chanel left, so that was good.

Nicole: She just left?

Allie: Yeah, to let johnny and me have it out or whatever.

Nicole: And how did johnny feel about that?

Allie: He had the nerve to call me jealous, like, about chanel, I mean as if my feelings for her go beyond friendship, which is totally ridiculous.

Nicole: Are you sure?

Rafe: You saw nicole in my arms?

Ava: Look, after I stormed out of here this morning, I… I ran into steve, and it was a good thing because… he was really nice to me. He was helpful, surprisingly so.

Rafe: Yeah, that is surprising.

Ava: He reminded me that, um… when I care deeply for someone, that I can become paranoid and obsessed. He told me I should not do that with you.

Rafe: Didn’t see that coming.

Ava: Neither did I. But I thought about what he said. And I came back here to apologize to you. That’s when I saw you and nicole.

Rafe: [Sighs] Right.

Ava: I was upset, and I walked and walked, and I tried to clear my head, and… talked to tripp.

Rafe: About us?

Ava: No. But the entire time that I was there, I couldn’t stop thinking about us and seeing you with nicole so I decided to come home and pack up my bags. So… you can, um… you can finally be with nicole. Bye, rafe.

Rafe: Ava, ava, please–

[Mutters] You’ve got it all wrong.

[Chuckles] You got it all wrong. I was saying goodbye to nicole.

Ever notice how stiff clothes can feel rough on your skin?

Ava: Goodbye? What do–what do you mean?

Rafe: I told nicole that you and I had a fight about her, and she saw your point of view, and she said that she had been leaning on me too much ever since she lost eric, and that… that wasn’t fair to you.

Ava: She said that?

Rafe: Mm-hmm, and she said that she felt bad about causing the fight between us and she said that, you know, her and I should stay apart so that you and me– so we could, you know, get back on track.

Ava: Wow. That’s very nice of her. It’s not entirely up to her, is it?

Rafe: No.

Ava: What do you want, rafe? Or should I say who do you want? Nicole or me?

Allie: Why would I be jealous of johnny and chanel? I’m with tripp now.

Nicole: I know. But that doesn’t mean you can’t be jealous. You and chanel are close. You shared a lot.

Allie: Yeah, but–

Nicole: Honey, I’m not trying to put you on the spot. I’m just trying to tell you that I understand. I felt the same way when ava told me she was dating rafe.

Allie: Really?

Nicole: Yeah, oh, yeah, and I was really classy about it too. You know, I badmouthed her to rafe, talked about how she was a mafia princess. Not my finest moment. But then I found myself getting all possessive about rafe, and I was… I was jealous of ava being happy.

Allie: [Sighs] You think that’s why I trashed johnny?

Nicole: I don’t know, but I do know that I had to be honest with myself and about how I really felt about rafe.

Allie: I bet he was more than a friend.

Nicole: Listen, you know, I’ve been a mess since I lost eric, and I realized that I– I couldn’t make my stuff an issue for ava and rafe, so I just made the decision to step away from the situation. Look, I’m sorry. I don’t mean to make this about myself, but my point is, you need to be honest about why it bothers you so much that your brother is dating your best friend.

Johnny: No, allie’s not gay. She’s dating tripp.

Ej: Okay, and chanel?

Johnny: No, chanel is not gay either.

Ej: But you said that allie and chanel kissed.

Johnny: Yeah, yeah, they did a couple times.

Ej: So they were just experimenting.

Johnny: I guess. Uh, I mean, allie made it clear to chanel that she just wants to be friends, so…

Ej: Then she shouldn’t have a problem with you seeing chanel.

Johnny: No, no, she shouldn’t, but she does. She’s jealous whether she wants to admit it or not, and that is why she came over here tonight to deliberately make me look bad, try to tell chanel that I’m a player, scare her off.

Ej: [Sighs] Well, given the fact that she’s not here, looks like it worked.

Chanel: So allie told me that johnny’s a total player. All he’s interested in is getting a girl in bed, and then it’s all, “been nice knowing you.”

Paulina: I didn’t get vibe when I met him.

Chanel: Please, you talked to him for all of five minutes. Allie’s known him for her whole life.

Paulina: But I’ve got a sixth sense about people, and I would’ve warned you if I thought that boy was trouble.

Chanel: I know, but I can’t just ignore what allie said. She’s his twin sister.

Paulina: Well, I’d like to think that maybe she’s just looking out for you, or… you know, don’t forget, two of you, you know, you had a thing.

Chanel: Meaning?

Paulina: Meaning is she warning you to stay away from johnny to protect you, or maybe she just wants you for herself.

Philip: I warned you if you touched her, I would kill you.

[Chloe sighs]

Brady: Go ahead and try.

Chloe: Stop it, both of you! Seriously, just stop it! You, this is not funny. And you, you are so far out of line, I could kill you myself. Brady, can you please give us a moment alone?

Brady: Sure. Who needs sleep anyway?

Philip: Chloe, listen–

Chloe: No, no, you listen to me. You’ve crossed a line. Now, you may tell yourself that you’re trying to protect me, but in reality, you are demeaning me. Now, I’m not gonna let your stupid jealousy dictate how I live my life, and if you can’t get past that, then we are through. You got it? To be a thriver

Philip: I got it.

Chloe: Philip, I made a commitment to you, but you got on a plane in the middle of the night and flew to the middle of nowhere because you don’t trust that i can keep that commitment.

Philip: I don’t trust brady.

Chloe: Well, I do. Deal with it.

Philip: [Sighs] Chloe… it’s like brady, he knows how to punch all my buttons. He makes me crazy. I do stupid things sometimes. And I realize now that it makes you think that I don’t trust you, but I do, and I swear… I’ll get over it. I’ve learned my lesson. Now, let’s get out of this god forsaken place.

Chloe: And go where?

Philip: I have a working jet. I’ll take you to new york. Titan has a corporate suite.

Chloe: What about brady?

Philip: He can stay here until his plane gets repaired, meet you in new york tomorrow.

Chloe: Uh, brady and i traveled together on a business trip. I’m not leaving him.

Philip: Okay. He can come with us.

Chloe: No. You can go home, and brady and I will stay here.

Philip: You want me to leave you alone in the same bed with brady?

Chloe: Yeah. Because you trust me, right?

Rafe: What I want is for us to be honest with each other. And I realized that… I think that things between me and nicole got a little more intense than I thought, and… you know, we’re really close, and she was going through hell, and I think that… there was a time when I thought about her maybe as more than a friend. But I don’t think that it would eric not thought that god needed him on the other side of the world and left nicole for a year. I… I don’T. But I do understand how that upset you.

Ava: It’s in your dna to take care of the damsel in distress.

Rafe: Yeah, well, she’s a friend and… she’s unhappy. I was just trying to help her.

Ava: But you ended up falling for her.

Rafe: Uh, okay, okay, you know what? Okay. So maybe I had some thoughts that, um, a friend shouldn’t have for another friend, you know?

Ava: Yeah, I do. I do.

Rafe: Okay. But I never acted on them. Can you honestly standing there look into my eyes and tell me for, as long as we’re going out, however long that that is, that you would never be attracted to another man? And if you were, would you just give up on everything and throw everything away, not try and work things out?

Ava: [Sighs]

Rafe: Yeah. So listen, like I said, nicole, she felt really bad about everything that happened, and we decided that we’re gonna stay apart from each other so you and I can… so we can work things out. Unless, of course, you don’t want that.

Allie: I really thought I was protecting chanel.

Nicole: [Chuckles] You know, she doesn’t really seem like the kind of girl who needs a lot of protecting.

Allie: Yeah, you’re right. I guess I was just telling myself that. God, maybe I was jealous.

Nicole: It happens.

Allie: [Sighs] I feel like a fool. Ugh, and what is tripp gonna think? I ditched him here to go stop chanel from sleeping with johnny.

Nicole: You and tripp have been through worse things.

Allie: And chanel. She was great when I chose tripp over her. How am I gonna fix all of this?

Chanel: You think allie’s jealous of her own brother?

Paulina: I think she’s still into you. You’re fabulous, I know.

Chanel: It’s true.

Paulina: [Chuckles]

Chanel: But she had her chance with me, and she didn’t take it. She said she just wanted to be friends.

Paulina: Friends don’t tell friends who they can and cannot see.

Chanel: I know, but… I’ve had boyfriends as long as I can remember, but I’ve never had a friend like allie. Maybe I should stop seeing johnny.

Johnny: The thing is the way I would hear allie talk about chanel and chanel talk about allie before I knew who they were talking about, sounded like they’re really tight.

Ej: Apparently.

Johnny: No, I mean, like, they’re friends. Chanel trusts allie, so I think she’s gonna believe what allie said.

Ej: Prove her wrong.

Johnny: How? I mean, saying “I’m not a player” is exactly what a player would do.

Ej: Don’t talk about it, but see chanel as often as you can without coming close to making a move on her. Talk more about her than you, ask her questions about her business, what she wants to do next. Make her see that you don’t just wanna get her into bed.

Johnny: But what if she doesn’t want to see me at all.

Ej: Well, I think she’ll want to form her own opinion of you without being swayed by allie even if they are close. But you should probably go slowly with this to begin with. Give her a little breathing space.

Johnny: I can’t believe I’m talking about this with my dad.

Ej: There once was a time when we would talk about everything. I miss that.

Johnny: Yeah, me too.

Ej: Maybe that’s why to come work at dimera. Maybe if we worked together, we can have that back again.

Johnny: [Chuckles] Yeah.

Ej: What’s funny?

Johnny: I’m just trying to figure out which one of us is the player here. Advil dual action fights pain 2 ways.

Ej: What’s that supposed to mean?

Johnny: That all of your parental concern tonight was just a ploy in order to reel me in and get me to do what you want me to do.

Ej: I was not trying to reel you in. I was trying to talk to you.

Johnny: To get what you wanted.

Ej: Yes, yes, to get what I wanted. I want you to know what it really means to be a dimera. It’s not money. It’s not power. It’s family working together. It’s our connection to him.

Johnny: I’m sorry. I just don’t really think I’m the company kind of guy. I’m a filmmaker.

Ej: No, you’re not. You’re a rich kid playing with his phone. Masking movies is a pipe dream. Do you really think chanel is going to fall for a guy who has a dream and can’t make it happen?

Paulina: You want to walk away from a boy that you really like because that’s what allie would want you to do?

Chanel: I’m trying to do the right thing.

Paulina: When I met abe, I probably should have walked away from him too because of his past with tammy, but we both felt that we had something.

Chanel: You also felt he had power with the zoning board.

Paulina: Yes, you’re right. I almost screwed that up, but abey forgave me because we do have something real, and you and johnny, you can have something special too.

Chanel: Yeah, but what if it ends my friendship with allie?

Paulina: Well, if she’s really your friend, that won’t happen. You have a right to be happy, and you don’t need anyone’s permission for that. As long as you don’t step on others, never be afraid to go after what you want.

Nicole: You and tripp are gonna work this out.

Allie: But what about johnny and chanel? I mean, I don’t know how I’m gonna face either of them.

Nicole: Allie, you had a bad night. You messed up. So have they. But you have been a good friend and a great sister, and there’s no way they’re gonna wanna lose you any more than you wanna lose them.

Ava: [Sighs] Um…

[Sighs] I want to be with you… more than anything. Not if you want to be with nicole.

Rafe: Right, uh… honey, one day, I’d like to be friends with nicole again unless, of course, it makes you uncomfortable.

Ava: Rafe, I am not trying to control you. Your feelings are your feelings.

Rafe: I know. Um… that’s not–I was honest with you about nicole, and… now I want to be honest with you about you. You… you are the woman that I want to be with. Okay? I do, you know? Hopefully, we can get past what happened. Yeah?

Ava: [Chuckles]

Rafe: You think you can do that? Hm?

Philip: I do trust you.

Chloe: Then act like you do.

[Knocking at door]

Brady: Sorry, the 15-year-old night manager informed me that waiting in the lobby, as I was, is loitering, and she was gonna call the cops, so…

Chloe: That’s okay. Philip was just leaving.

Brady: Oh, that’s a shame ’cause I hear they got a hell of an omelet station at the breakfast buffet tomorrow.

Philip: I hope you have a productive meeting tomorrow. I can’t wait for you to come home.

Brady: Well… you wanna try this again?

Chloe: [Sighs]

[Tender music]

 

Ava: I do want to be with you.

Rafe: Okay. Okay, then you… I can’t tell you how happy that makes me.

Ava: [Chuckles] You know, it’s just that, um… I’ve never felt with any other man the way that I feel with you. And so when I knew that you wanted her, it just… it just hurt.

[Chuckles]

Rafe: Yeah. Do you know what? We can make this work. I think we can, and… every couple has its share of ups and downs, right? I mean, they have since the beginning of time. It’s just…how you deal with the downs that matters. Right?

Ava: Yeah, well, I deal with the downs by screaming and threatening to move out.

Rafe: Yeah.

[Chuckles]

Ava: [Chuckles] Can you deal with that?

Rafe: Maybe, like, half the time.

Ava: [Chuckles] Rafe…

Rafe: Yeah?

Ava: Can you take my bag up for me? I need to unpack.

Rafe: I thought you’d never ask.

 

Nicole: Okay, listen, you and I should get some sleep.

Allie: Yeah. Thank you for listening. And for everything you’ve done for me and henry.

Nicole: It’s my pleasure. Look, honey, you are gonna get through this. I know it. You sleep tight.

Allie: Okay.

Paulina: [Chuckles] Oh, I know I’ve been tough on you, but never doubt how much I love you.

Chanel: I love you too, mama.

Paulina: [Chuckles] Oh, mm, mm.

Johnny: No, you’re wrong ’cause if there is anybody who understands what it’s like to have a dream, it’s chanel. She wanted to start her own bakery, and she didn’t let anyone or anything get in her way. So I’m gonna make my movie, and when my film opens, chanel’s gonna be right there with me.

Ej: Mm. Well, when she wants nothing to do with you, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

[Dramatic music]

Brady: What are you doing?

Chloe: Isn’t it obvious? I’m making a bed on the floor. My back is fine.

[Soft dramatic music]

Allie: Chanel and johnny almost had sex last night? When did she tell you that?

Tripp: When I ran into her at the square.

Allie: Well, that’s a very private thing for her to tell a guy she barely knows.

Tripp: Yeah. It was definitely an overshare, but I think she was just really psyched about her date. I mean, she seems really into your brother, allie.

Chanel: Now will you believe me when I tell you I’over your sister?

Johnny: It’s a start. But I think I might need a little more convincing.

[Phone rings]

Philip: Hey, good-lookin’.

Chloe: Hey. Am I calling at a bad time?

Philip: Nope. Just having dinner at the pub. How’s the big apple? You seen parker yet?

Chloe: No, because I’m not in new york yet.

Philip: Why not? What happened?

Chloe: The dimera jet had some sort of a mechanical problem.

Philip: In flight?

Chloe: Yeah. It was really scary. The pilot had to make an emergency landing.

Philip: Are you okay?

Chloe: Yeah, I’m fine, but um, brady and I are stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Shawn: Well, tell theo I said hi… and keep calling, please. I like knowing how you’re doing. Okay. Love you, too.

Ciara: Hey. How’s claire?

Shawn: She sounds good. She’s loving her job and she’s just having fun exploring “jo-burg.”

Ciara: Good. Did she say anything about theo?

Shawn: Yeah, I mean, enough for me to know that he’s doing all right.

Ciara: Good. That’s good.

Shawn: So, what are you two doing here? What’s up?

Ciara: Well, we thought that we should tell you that we are leaving salem.

Shawn: Wait, so you’re leaving town now too? Wait, so it’s first claire and now you?

Ciara: No, no, no. Before you start getting abandonment issues, we aren’t leaving permanently.

Shawn: Okay, people who aren’t leaving permanently usually say they’re going on vacation. They don’t say “I’m leaving town.”

Ciara: Okay, I’m sorry. I’m sorry, big bro.

Ben: Well, it hit us that we never actually got a real honeymoon, so we’re gonna take off for a little while.

Chloe: A private airstrip near wilkes-barre. And we’re stuck here until they fix whatever is wrong with the jet.

Philip: Sounds like your basic nightmare.

Chloe: It is. I had to tell parker I won’t be seeing him tonight. And we had to reschedule our meeting with the client.

Philip: I knew this trip was a bad idea. I hope brady’s taking charge, getting you out of there as soon as possible.

Chloe: This isn’t brady’s fault. So, I just wanted to let you know that I am staying at the pocono paradise motel.

Philip: You’re at a motel?

Chloe: Well, yeah. We can’t sleep on the street.

Philip: You and brady? Are you kidding me?

Chloe: Oh, calm down. It’s just for the night, okay?

Philip: It better be. Call me when you get to new york, okay?

[Knocking on door]

Brady: Hey.

Chloe: What happened to you?

Brady: This is officially the business trip from hell.

Belle: I take it something’s wrong?

Philip: Your brother’s still after chloe. He’s not being subtle about it. This is the sound of an asthma attack…

Tripp: Look, I hope I didn’t betray a confidence telling you about chanel and johnny.

Allie: Well, chanel would’ve told me eventually. She happen to mention why they didn’t hook up?

Tripp: Well, it’s real romantic. Neither one of them had a condom.

Allie: Well, thank god for that.

Tripp: What does that mean?

Allie: Well, for one thing, chanel could get pregnant. I love henry, but he deserves to have a father.

Tripp: You don’t think your brother would step up?

Allie: No. He’s more of a love ’em and leave ’em kind of guy. Which is why I don’t think it’s a good idea that he and chanel are dating. Someone’s definitely gonna get their heart broken.

Johnny: I hope you like pb&js. Turns out it’s the cook’s night off tonight, so…

Chanel: Pb&j just happens to be my favorite sandwich.

Johnny: I knew I liked you.

Chanel: Who’s this dude?

Johnny: Uh, that is my nonno, stefano dimera.

Chanel: Nonno looks like the man you don’t mess with.

Philip: So, now chloe and brady are staying in a motel tonight.

Belle: And I’m missing the part where brady is trying to take chloe away from you?

Philip: You really think that plane just happened to have engine trouble?

Belle: Okay, what? You think brady booby-trapped his own plane?

Philip: No, but he could’ve paid the pilot to fake an emergency landing.

Belle: Oh, my gosh. So, what would he get out of that? I mean, he and chloe were gonna be staying overnight anyway. Now they’re just stuck in the sticks instead of manhattan.

Philip: No, in new york chloe would’ve been spending her free time with parker and her parents. Now brady has her all to himself, in the middle of nowhere.

Belle: Okay, so you honestly believe that my brother would deprive chloe of seeing her son just to get her alone?

Philip: I think brady would stoop to anything to get her back. I do not trust that guy one bit.

Chloe: Here you go.

Brady: Thank you.

Chloe: So, why are you so wet? It’s not even raining outside.

Brady: No, it’s not. You ready for this?

Chloe: Yeah.

Brady: I go to the room that I was given. Walk in, and inside that room is an elderly couple, going at it like bunnies.

Chloe: Oh, my god.

Brady: Yeah. I walked in on it and I-I-i immediately said, “I’m so sorry. I think I have the wrong room. Sorry for the mix-up.” Start to walk out. The old man wasn’t having it. He called me a pervert, screamed it. I know. And then he dumped the, you know the-the plascit– the plastic bucket of ice?

Chloe: Yeah.

Brady: Well, it turned into water at the time and it was, he doused me with it while I was walking out.

Chloe: I’m sorry.

Brady: You can laugh. No, it’s all right. Laugh. It’s funny. It’s hilarious.

Chloe: No, no. I’m sorry. I’m, I’m just visualizing a naked old man dumping a bucket of ice water on your head. I’m sorry. I really am sorry for you.

Brady: I-I, I’m sorry. Yeah, you seem sorry.

Chloe: And, you know what, I’m so grateful that that little old naked man did not hurt you.

Brady: No, that little old naked man did not hurt me physically. But that little old naked man hurt me emotionally, because I’m never going to be able to forget what I saw in there.

Chloe: Ooh, yeah, I bet. So, I’m guessing they double-booked the room?

Brady: That’s what they’re telling me. And um, they don’t have any other rooms available.

Chloe: What, this place is booked solid?

Brady: Right? But no, they’re painting. They’re painting a bunch of the other rooms. That’s what they told me.

Chloe: Oh. So, what are you gonna do?

Brady: Well, I thought I’d– I’d camp out in the parking lot, chloe. I mean, I was hoping I could stay here. Honestly.

Chloe: Uh, can I ask you something?

Brady: Yeah, sure.

Chloe: Are you telling me the truth?

Shawn: So, where are you going for your honeymoon?

Ciara: Well, ben wanted to go to the cabin.

Ben: I spent a lot of time fixing that place up.

Ciara: Mm-hmm. I know, and it looks great, baby, you did a great job.

Ben: Well, thank you.

Ciara: I know. But we literally just got back from there and it’s not necessarily honeymoon material.

Ben: I know that. You have a point.

Shawn: I mean, she really, really does.

Ciara: I really, really do.

Ben: Okay. All right. Anyway.

Ciara: Anyway. So we discussed a couple of options and we decided on a place that has a little bit more going on, a place that is very important to mom and dad.

Ben: New orleans.

Shawn: Ahh! Nice. That’s where they had their unofficial wedding.

Ciara: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. A mannequin performed their wedding.

Ben: That sounds a little weird.

Ciara: Yeah, it does to me too, but it was a really big turning point for them.

Shawn: Yeah, they had some really great years after that.

Ben: So will we.

Brady: You think I made this up? Really?

Chloe: Well, just, it sounds a little convenient. And not to be egotistical or anything, but you have been pretty open about your feelings for me, so…

Brady: Dang. Dang it. You got me. You got me. See, what I did is I paid off the pilot first to ground the plane, then I paid off the desk clerk to make sure that this place was booked. The master stroke of the whole plan was paying off the naked elderly man who threw the bucket of ice water on me. I’m kind of glad you figured the whole thing out because I was starting to run out of money actually.

Chloe: You still haven’t answered my question.

Brady: The answer is no. I did not plan any of this, and frankly I think you know me a little too well to think I would do something that underhanded. That’s actually more your boyfriend’s style. That’s philip’s–

Chloe: Don’t start in on philip. You’re not exactly a saint either.

Brady: I’m not a saint, chloe, but no. I don’t like the fact that you’re with him. I don’t like it. The fact is, I respect your decision and that’s that. But if you’re not comfortable with sharing a room with me tonight, then that’s not a problem. I’ll go sleep in the lobby. It’s not a big deal.

Chloe: No, wait, wait, wait, wait, come on. You’re–you’re not sleeping in the lobby. You can stay here tonight.

Brady: Thank you.

Chloe: But philip’s not gonna be happy about this.

Chloe: How do I get myself into these messes?

Brady: Maybe the question you should ask yourself is, “why do I want to be with someone I can’t be honest with?”

Belle: You’re not thinking this through, philip.

Philip: What’s there to think about?

Belle: All right, let’s just say brady did pay off the pilot to make an emergency landing, which I still think is completely farfetched, but let’s just say he did it. The pilot is not going to admit it.

Philip: Good point. So I’ll offer him a lot of money.

Belle: Oh, okay. Well, I’m definitely not gonna help you bribe somebody.

Philip: You wouldn’t do a favor for an old friend?

Belle: Honey, you’re starting to sound a little desperate.

Philip: That’s because I am a little desperate. I feel like this is my last shot at getting things right with chloe. I can’t let her slip through my fingers again.

Belle: It’s a short trip. Two days tops, and then tomorrow chloe’s gonna be in meetings or with parker. What could happen?

Philip: You know what else was a short trip? The time chloe and brady went to dry creek, north dakota.

Belle: That was to go find chloe’s biological father.

Chad: Uh, brought you something. Thomas made it for you at, uh– at art camp.

Jack: Hm.

[Chuckles] Well, you know, I–I was just thinking, I–I needed a new paperweight.

Chad: [Chuckles] It’s a–it’s a good save, yeah. It, um–it exploded in the kiln, and, uh, that’s what was left.

Jack: Well, I’m thrilled he’s even thinking about me.

Chad: Well, I’m hoping the vase he makes for, uh–for abby is more successful. And survives the trip to boston, if necessary.

Jack: Right.

Chad: Have you talked to her?

Jack: Uh, abigail, yeah, I did this morning.

Chad: Did she say anything? Is she, uh–is she ever coming home?

[Door opens]

Gwen: What’s all this?

Xander: I took the liberty of ordering more oysters, so, uh, why don’t you lose the robe and get back into bed? We can gobble up this lot… and then each other.

Gwen: [Laughs] I don’t think so.

Melinda: How the hell did you get the charges dropped against xander cook?

Ej: I made a motion to dismiss, the judge complied.

Melinda: He did not throw out this case based on merit. I put it together myself. The dimera family used its influence to overrule the justice system again.

Ej: Has it entered your mind that I might just be better at my job than you are at yours?

Melinda: [Chuckles] A lot has changed since you last lived in salem. Your father’s dead now.

Ej: I’m aware of that.

Melinda: You may think you and your family can get away with perverting justice, but I’m putting you on notice. Your days of running roughshod over the people in this town are over.

Tripp: Well, looks like we’re the first ones here.

Allie: [Sighs] Yeah. Did chanel go home to change?

Tripp: No, just to get the new guy. You ready for his name?

Allie: Mm-hmm.

Tripp: Giovanni.

Allie: Well, that’s weird.

Tripp: How so?

Allie: My brother johnny, um, that’s what his grandfather used to call him.

Tripp: Could be a coincidence?

Allie: Yeah. Maybe. But he did say he met someone. I mean, you don’t think that– oh, my god, it’s him.

Tripp: Your brother?

Allie: Mm-hmm. Hi, johnny.

Johnny: Uh, hey.

Chanel: You two know each other?

Johnny: Uh, yeah. Do–do you know allie?

Chanel: Yeah, only since forever.

Johnny: Eh, not as long as I have, guaranteed. You must be tripp.

Tripp: Uh, tripp johnson.

Johnny: Hey, gi–well, uh, johnny. Um, this is my good friend, chanel. We’re here to meet the bff and her boyfriend for some drinks.

Allie: I’m the bff.

Johnny: Uh…

Allie: Chanel is my best friend. And giovanni here is my twin brother.

[Dramatic music]

Bonnie: Uh, this is my sister-in-law, calista lockhart. Justin is my fiancé.

Calista: [Gasps] Oh! Congratulations.

Justin: I–you never told me you had a sister-in-law.

Bonnie: [Exhales]

Calista: Well, she does. And I’m her! [Laughs]

Justin: You must be…

Calista: Bonnie’s late husband’s sister.

Justin: Right. Is that what you said you could never explain to me? That you have a sister-in-law I didn’t know about?

Chanel: Oh, my god, giovanni is…

Johnny: Italian for johnny, yeah.

Allie: It’s what his nonno used to call him.

Tripp: Nonno?

Allie: It’s, um, italian for grandpa.

Tripp: Ah.

Chanel: I can’t believe you’re allie’s brother.

Allie: How did you not know?

Chanel: Well, you said you had a brother named johnny. You didn’t say anything about your grandfather calling him giovanni.

Allie: Well, actually he wasn’t my grandfather.

Chanel: But you’re twins.

Allie: It’s complicated. You’d have to know my mother.

Johnny: So, uh, I guess we can kinda skip the whole awkward getting-to-know-you part and just get right to drinking, yeah?

Ej: You’ve made yourself clear. Are we done?

Melinda: Not by a long shot. For starters, I’m going to find out how you managed to remain a member of the state bar during your long convalescence in italy, which included an extended period where you were mentally incompetent.

Ej: I’d be offended by that statement if I hadn’t just bested you.

Melinda: [Laughs] Bested me? I don’t have the legal right to throw around my money or my family name before I enter a courtroom. I swore to adhere to the rule of law. And I’m warning you, mr. Dimera, you don’t want me for an enemy.

Ej: [Chuckles] You were my enemy years ago. I’m used to you.

Melinda: I won’t stop digging until I find something to use against you and your drug dealing client.

Xander: Come on, I kept your spot warm for you. Where else would you rather be?

Gwen: Nowhere.

[Mutters] Oh, my god. This is completely mental, okay? I only just came over here yesterday to thank you for covering for me with my dad, and that was yesterday. And I’m still here.

Xander: What can I say? I just love the way you say thank you. I skipped breakfast just so i could hear it all over again.

Gwen: And lunch, and now it’s, what, bloody happy hour?

Xander: So, lose the robe and let’s get happy. Come on, love. You know you want it.

Gwen: My goodness, I know I’m going to regret this.

[Slow sensual music]

 

Jack: Can’t you ask abigail what her plans are?

Chad: Well, jack–I keep– I keep trying, and she always changes the subject. I miss her, and the kids miss her horribly, and I know she misses them too, but, you know, she won’t even make a plan for me to take them to see her. I mean, has she said anything to you about us?

Jack: No. No, look, I–I’m getting a version of the same treatment you’re getting. All I can think about is how hurt she was by the way that i talked to her when gwen had her miscarriage.

Chad: Yeah, well, me too. I just…

Jack: What?

Chad: It just seems like she doesn’t wanna see me… and it makes me really scared and…

Jack: Scared that what?

Chad: What if she never comes home? You know, what if– what if my marriage is over? As someone who resembles someone else…

Bonnie: [Chuckles] Calista, she–[Chuckles]– She friended me on social media after all this time, and, well, I guess I got carried away and invited her to the wedding. Isn’t that right?

Calista: Sure. I mean, right.

Bonnie: And I know that we wanted to keep it small and all, and calista’s a shirt tail relative, but I’m sorry for asking someone you don’t even know without, you know, letting you know first.

Justin: That’s okay. She’s your sister-in-law.

Calista: Ex-sister-in-law.

Justin: Well, you know, it’s your wedding as much as mine. So, if calista’s important to you, then she should be here.

Calista: Oh, I am so important to bonnie, and I can’t even tell you how important she is to me.

Chanel: You guys are twins. You don’t look anything alike.

Allie: Well, we have different dads. Remember?

Johnny: I get, uh, all my good looks from my–my dad’s–

Allie: His ego, too.

Johnny: Yeah. That’s the only thing I get from him, so, don’t worry.

Chanel: Why would I worry?

Johnny: How much have you heard about the, uh, dimeras?

Ej: You won’t dig up anything on me that you don’t already know. As you pointed out, I’ve been recovering from serious injuries for years.

Melinda: But the rest of your family’s been busy. Did you know that your sister kristen pushed my daughter down a flight of stairs and killed her?

Ej: No.

Melinda: It’s true. She also broke out of prison, threatened or harmed four other people, including your wife, and now she’s on the run. So, you better hope that your sister kristen hasn’t reached out to you in any way, because I will find out. You also have a son who just showed up in salem.

Ej: You leave johnny out of this.

Melinda: Hit a nerve, did I? But maybe that’s because you’re planning on grooming him to take over the family business.

Ej: Goodbye, ms. Trask.

Melinda: But you should really rethink that, I mean, if you actually care about what’s good for him.

Ej: Get out of my house, now.

[Tense music]

 

Melinda: Oh, I also found it interesting that you just appeared claiming to be mr. Cook’s lawyer before he ever used his phone call.

Ej: Xander was my caregiver for years right after my accident. I owe him one… and he owes me more.

 

[Both exhale]

Gwen: [Chuckles] How many calories do you think we just burned?

Xander: [Exhales] Well… to my mind, we’ve earned the right to, uh, order down for steaks and champagne.

Gwen: Xander, this is–this is getting really expensive. Not to mention your lawyer.

Xander: Worry about him tomorrow.

[Phone rings] Oh, speak of the devil.

Gwen: What, your lawyer?

Xander: Yeah, I have to take this. What’s happening?

Ej: You’re officially off the hook.

Xander: Already?

Ej: I told you I’d take care of it. Get yourself over to the police station and pick up your personal effects. I’ll come by to collect what you owe me.

Chad: I just–I see it all clearly now, and–and I told her that before she left. I mean, I thought that we were in a–a good place, and–and after what she said that she wanted to go spend some time with her mom and work through all of these–these things, I thought it was a good idea. I just didn’t think she would be gone this long.

Jack: I know. I know. I know. Look, if–if there’s anything that I can do…

Chad: Actually, there is.

I may have moderate to

severe rheumatoid arthritis.

Chad: Can you maybe talk to, um–talk to jenn? I–I know she says that laura’s estate seems to be more complicated than she had thought, but it just–it feels like abby’s using that as an excuse to just stay away from me. I mean, like, even if she doesn’t wanna be around me, kids miss their mom, you know?

Jack: Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I promise you, I’m gonna talk to abigail and jennifer.

Chad: All right. Thank you.

Jack: And–and, uh, I know that I have been missing in action with thomas and charlotte myself, and–and I plan to remedy that.

Chad: Sorry, I was gonna bring them over today. I just didn’t wanna take the chance of them running into their old nanny or that drug runner you had sleeping on your couch.

Jack: Ah. Yeah, yeah. Well, that was, uh, poor judgment on my part, but, uh, I’ve thrown xander out.

Chad: Good.

Jack: Not before he managed to con gwen into making drops for him.

Chad: You’re kidding.

Jack: No. I–I really–I wish I was. But at least he’s out of here and he’s–he’s out of her life for good.

Xander: So sorry to bail on you like this.

Gwen: No, it’s all right. My dad’s going to be wondering where I am anyway.

Xander: [Chuckles] Well, I’ll be glad to see the back of my legal troubles, even if it is gonna cost me a literal fortune.

Gwen: [Sighs] I really wish that you didn’t have to take the rap for me. I wish that just being honest with chad about losing my baby before I took the fall, and then that way snyder would have had nothing over my head. And now I have to worry about my dad finding out the truth.

Xander: He won’T. Snyder’s dead, and I won’t open my mouth.

Gwen: I really don’t know how to thank you.

Xander: Well, you, uh, already did.

Gwen: I’m going to miss you.

Xander: Why? You going somewhere?

Gwen: No. My dad would absolutely hate it if he knew that we were seeing each other. It wouldn’t make sense to him anyway, because he doesn’t know that you covered for me. He thinks that you’re some drug man who conned his daughter into making drops for him. No, he’d be–he’d be determined to get to the bottom of this. And if he found out the truth…

Xander: No, I–I get it. But there’s no chance we could keep it a secret? Us? Our little whatever you wanna call it?

Gwen: Another secret, xander? In this town?

Xander: Right.

Gwen: So, um, this is going to have to be goodbye then, I’m afraid.

Xander: No, I understand. Well, uh, hopefully I’ll see you around sometime.

Gwen: Yeah. You too.

[Somber music]

 

Chanel: Theo filled me in some on your family. His mother was a dimera.

Johnny: Aunt lexie, yeah. Um, how do you know theo?

Chanel: I was on vacation in south africa. Met him in johannesburg. We dated for a while.

Johnny: In johannesburg?

Chanel: What can I say? I get around.

Johnny: Yeah.

Allie: I just realized something. That thirst trap guy that I was begging you to show me, that was you?

Johnny: It was just a selfie with my shirt off.

Tripp: You were begging to see a shirtless selfie?

Allie: Only to make sure that he was up to chanel’s standards.

Johnny: Do I pass?

Allie: Ew, you’re my brother.

Johnny: I need to know. I hear I’ve got competition.

Allie: What does that mean?

Johnny: That the last person that chanel kissed before me was you.

[Soft jazz music playing]

 

Justin: I have some good news. Steve has agreed to be my best man.

Bonnie: Oh, that’s great.

Justin: Under the circumstances, I thought you’d be a little happier.

Bonnie: Well, I am happy honey. [Giggles] I’m thrilled with that.

Calista: Circumstances?

Bonnie: Steve is the brother of justin’s first wife.

Calista: Oh, I see.

Bonnie: Listen, justin, again, I’m sorry for not giving you the heads up about calista coming to the wedding. I just–I just never thought I’d see her again.

Justin: I thought you said you invited her.

Bonnie: [Laughs] But I never thought she’d show up. And she’s changed so much since the last time I saw her.

Calista: I have an idea. How about the three of us celebrate your wedding with a toast? You wouldn’t happen to have a little bottle of champagne lying around?

Justin: You know what? I will ask henderson to go grab a bottle from the cellar. Excuse me.

Bonnie: Okay.

Calista: [Giggles] Who’s henderson?

Bonnie: He’s the butler.

Calista: Oh, and that cellar, it’s just for wine?

Bonnie: What are you getting at?

Calista: Well, justin isn’t just handsome. He’s also filthy rich.

Bonnie: That’s not why I love him.

Calista: Ha! Right. So, anyway, how’d you get rid of the first wife?

Bonnie: I didn’T. She died in an accident.

Calista: How convenient.

Bonnie: Oh, no, no, no, no. No. Justin and I fell in love way after that.

Calista: Aww. So, you found true love? Well, it’s just a shame that you won’t be marrying justin, or anyone else for that matter, until you pay me back the money you owe me.

Bonnie: Oh, god, you don’t know the whole story.

Calista: What is there to know? You ran off with that buddybucks ticket, and now you owe me $1 million.

Bonnie: I keep telling you, I don’t have the money.

Calista: And then I’m gonna tell justin all about how you killed my husband. Just what’s he gonna say when he hears what you did to my beloved harrison?

Bonnie: No, I knew that, i was just–I was just making a joke. [Chuckles]

Justin: You seem a little jumpy.

Bonnie: Huh?

Justin: Is there something you’re not telling me?

Bonnie: No, of course not. I just–oh, my god, probably have wedding jitters or something.

Calista: Really? You know, when bonnie married my brother, she was just as relaxed as a toad in the sun. Should’ve known that was a bad sign.

Bonnie: Don’t listen to her. She thinks she’s being funny, just like me just now with that dumb joke about thinking I was shot. [Laughs] Stupid.

Justin: No worries. Okay, let’s, uh, have this toast.

Calista: Oh, whoa, those cost a couple hundred bucks a bottle.

Justin: Special occasion.

Calista: You got a real nice place here… full of nice stuff. Ooh. This must’ve cost a fortune.

Bonnie: No–[Laughs] That’s fragile, hon.

[Both chuckle]

Justin: Here you go. Bonnie?

Bonnie: Thanks, babe.

Justin: Uh, calista… we were, uh, going to have a toast.

Calista: Oh, sorry! I forgot.

[Giggles]

Justin: Okay–

Calista: Here’s to the happy couple. I wish you a million blessings in your new life together.

Chanel: You told johnny we kissed? What, you’ve known him for, like, three days?

Chanel: I didn’t tell him. My mom opened her big mouth when johnny and I were having drinks, not that I care who knows about us.

Allie: Dupree, there is no us.

Chanel: You know what I mean. I don’t go around blabbing about my past relationships to a guy I just met.

Johnny: Yeah, except it doesn’t sound like this relationship is totally in the past.

Tripp: What the hell is that supposed to mean?

Ej: The charges will be expunged from your personal record as long as you keep to the straight and narrow for the next two years.

Melinda: [Scoffs] Him? Forget it.

Xander: I want all the stuff I had to hand over after I was arrested.

Melinda: I have the inventory right here. Dirty socks. Dirty magazines.

Xander: I had everything i owned with me when shawn brady put me in handcuffs.

Melinda: Including a briefcase containing $1 million. Oh, excuse me, $1 million minus your bail money. Nothing suspicious about that, right, counselor?

Ej: The charges against mr. Cook have been dropped. Your suspicions are not his concern.

Melinda: They are if he committed a crime obtaining that money. Blackmail? Bribery? I intend on finding out where that money came from, and until I do, it does not leave the evidence room, you understand?

Justin: So, you two haven’t been in touch until she saw you on social media?

Bonnie: [Chuckles]

Calista: Well, you know, I found it difficult to maintain the friendship after bonnie went to prison for killing my brother.

Justin: Well, I understand there were extenuating circumstances.

Calista: I know, but still.

Justin: So, what made you decide to reconnect with her?

Calista: Well, we both have dead husbands now. Common bond. Her husband was murdered… and so was mine.

Justin: Oh, I’m sorry. That’s awful.

Calista: It is… especially since the person who killed my husband got away with it. Hopefully, somehow that person will be brought to justice.

Ej: You have no right to confiscate the money that mr. Cook earned legally.

Melinda: Are you worried about collecting your fee, mr. Dimera?

Ej: Not at all. That money was paid to mr. Cook by my wife for services rendered.

Melinda: [Laughs] That was samantha dimera’s money?

Ej: It’s mine.

Melinda: Did you know about their transaction?

Ej: Not till after the fact. So I suggest you contact samantha for the details. But good luck finding her, though. She’s left town.

Melinda: Mm. Seems like major trouble in paradise.

Ej: My client has not broken any laws…

Melinda: [Sighs]

Ej: And if you try to file new charges, I’ll just work my magic all over again.

Melinda: Bribe another judge, you mean?

Ej: Additional charges will be a complete waste of your time. Do you want the score to read two to zero?

Melinda: I’ll turn over the money.

Ej: Mm-hmm.

Melinda: Hm. But be prepared to dole it out in civil settlements to the families of drug overdose victims.

[Tense music]

 

Ej: Let’s hope that doesn’t come to pass, because you and i know that every dollar in that briefcase is mine.

Chad: Well, it’s, uh–it’s good to see you, but I should get out of here. I don’t wanna–I don’t wanna run into gwen, so–

Jack: Oh, I wouldn’t worry about that, I haven’t seen her since last night. Actually, I’m starting to get a little worried.

Chad: Not quick enough.

Jack: Well, there you are.

Gwen: Hello, chad.

Chad: Gwen.

Jack: Where on earth have you been? Super emma just about sleeps in her cape.

Calista: So, what time’s dinner? What’s the dress code for the wedding? And where’s my room?

Bonnie: [Coughing] What room? What room?

Calista: Well, you invited me. I just assumed you’d put me up here.

[Laughter]

Bonnie: Oh, I’m sorry, you know, this house is pretty crowded already.

Calista: Really? There must be 35 bedrooms in this place.

Bonnie: You know, I tell you what…

Bonnie: I’m gonna get you a room at the salem inn. You’re gonna love it there, ’cause it’s nice and private.

Calista: Fine. I wouldn’t wanna be any trouble. It was lovely meeting you, justin. I’ll see you two at the wedding, hopefully. [Chuckles]

Justin: Bonnie and I will see you there.

Bonnie: Yes, we will. Hey, I’ll walk you out. Come on.

Johnny: So, since we didn’t get to have dinner, uh, just tell me what sounds good, and I can ask cook to make it.

Chanel: Thanks, but I’m not that hungry.

Johnny: You haven’t been saying much. Uh, would it have anything to do with that scene allie made?

Chanel: I can’t believe you’re brother and sister.

Johnny: Yeah, but we are. Look, the last couple of days have been a lot of fun, but you having a thing for allie, things just got complicated.

Johnny: For you? Or for me?

[Solemn music]

 

Tripp: You were pretty quiet on the way over here. Are you upset that chanel is seeing your brother?

Allie: It’s just weird. And I hate to say it, but i really hope it doesn’t last.

Gwen: Well, I, um, went to bed early last night, and, uh, I woke up with the birds, um, and then I had, uh, an early meeting with an employment counselor, and spent the rest of the day walking.

Jack: You didn’t say anything before about an employment counselor.

Gwen: Well, I can’t expect you to keep me on the dole forever.

Chad: What did that counselor say?

Gwen: They said that I would need a reference for my last job. I said that would most likely be a problem.

Chad: Yeah, you were right.

Gwen: Right, well, I’m going to put on a pot of tea. Would anyone like a biscuit or something?

Chad: No.

Jack: Uh, no, nothing– nothing for me, thanks, gwen.

Gwen: Yeah, okay.

Chad: Sorry. Just can’t in good conscience tell an employer that she was a–a good nanny with how things ended.

Jack: I know.

Chad: You’re her–you’re her father. You feel obligated to her. I do not.

Jack: I know, I know. I get it, I get it, I get it, I get it, and I promise you, I will talk to jennifer, and i hope that she can get through to abigail.

Chad: I hope so.

Jack: Abigail loves you. Chad, please, don’t give up on this marriage.

Chad: I don’t intend to.

Ej: Pleasure doing business with you. I’ll take that briefcase now.

Xander: Not until you’ve got me my old job back at basic black, right?

Ej: Brady’s on a business trip to new york, and nicole’s been out sick all week. When they’re back in the office, I’ll follow up.

Xander: You’re the top man at dimera enterprises. Snap your fingers, you can make this happen.

Ej: I’ve done everything I’ve promised so far.

Xander: Yeah, so far.

Ej: That money belongs to me.

Xander: Your wife paid it to me willingly. And let’s face it, mate, I did you a favor. When I told that room full of people that nicole spent a night in my bed, that got the ball rolling. If nicole hadn’t wanted to get back at sami, you’d still be in the dark and she’d still be cheating on you. Really you should be thanking me.

Bonnie: And then when she appeared out of the blue, I just felt like I had to invite her to the wedding. I kinda felt on the spot.

Justin: No, I–I understand that. I’ve had similar experiences with family members, being on the spot, I mean.

Bonnie: Right. Thank you for understanding.

Justin: Mm-hmm.

Bonnie: Oh, uh, dang, I almost forgot.

Justin: What?

Bonnie: The caterer called this afternoon, and it seems they want the whole payment before the wedding, meaning today, and I know you’re busy, so I was just thinking maybe you could just, you know, write a blank check and I’ll fill in the amount later.

Justin: No need to do that. It’s all taken care of.

Bonnie: It is? How?

Justin: Don’t you worry about it. All you have to do is show up looking beautiful, and we can start our new lives together.

Bonnie: I want that life so much.

Justin: Me too. You know, I was just thinking, since your kids can’t make it, it’s kinda great that calista is here, so you’ll have someone from your side of the family.

Bonnie: Oh, yeah. Lucky me. [Chuckles]

Johnny: Look, I don’t care if you kissed allie, as long as you are sure you’re over her.

Chanel: I told you, I was.

Johnny: I hope so. I don’t wanna be in a rivalry over you with my sister.

Chanel: Then we’re good, because allie’s with tripp now. She’s happy, and so am I.

Johnny: Well, then I’m happy too.

Tripp: So, what bothers you about johnny and chanel dating?

Allie: Growing up, he was my best friend. We told each other everything. And now I feel like I don’t even know him. I mean, he was–he was a total jerk tonight.

Tripp: Yeah, he was.

Allie: And chanel’s my best friend. I mean, what if he’s a jerk to her?

Tripp: She can take care of herself.

Allie: Still, I just hope they break it off before it gets serious. What? What’s that look?

Tripp: Chanel told me that they almost slept together last night.

Jack: Thank you, yes. Thank you for the information.

Gwen: Something’s wrong.

Jack: Yeah, yeah, something’s wrong. I just got some news, and I’m– it has me more than a little upset.

Gwen: What? What is it?

Jack: Xander.

Gwen: Oh?

Jack: He hired ej dimera to represent him. Ej has somehow found a way to get a judge to throw his case out. Xander is going to get away with what he did to you. He’s going to walk! Damn it!

Gwen: Jack… jack, it’s okay.

Jack: I’ll tell you what, he better stay the hell away from you, or I promise you it will not be okay.

Xander: Well, I see two options here. You can challenge me to a duel, or make good on the rest of our agreement while I hold onto the briefcase. Then, when I’m back on the payroll at basic black, you’ll get your $1 million back.

Bonnie: I tried to con justin into writing a blank check for the caterer, so I could take it to them.

Calista: What do you mean tried?

Bonnie: My heart just wasn’t into it, okay? I–the old hustle failed me.

Calista: That is not what I wanna hear, bonnie.

Bonnie: You know, I was thinking, maybe after the wedding, justin will open up a checking account in my name.

Calista: Like I’m counting on that happening. Like I don’t know that you’re just trying to stall. After you’re married to that guy, I’ll never see my money…

Bonnie: Look, calista, please.

Calista: So I have a better idea.

Allie: Um, aunt kayla, before you go, can I ask you something?

Kayla: Sure. Is anything wrong?

Allie: No. I just… I just wanted to know how’s tripp doing.

Chanel: [Breathing heavily]

Tripp: Hey, hey, hey. You need a hand?

Tony: Are you sure you don’t wanna go out? We can have lunch. We can drive to the lake.

Anna: Nope! I just wanna spend this afternoon with you, right here and all alone.

Tony: Yeah, for once it doesn’t seem like grand central station around here.

Johnny: Okay, are we ready for the closeup?

Anna: Johnny? Hi!

Steve: I need to brace myself? Why?

Justin: It’s about bonnie.

Steve: Okay.

Justin: And stating the obvious, I know she’s not your favorite person. And I know that our double date a while ago was an absolute disaster. Bonnie pretending to be adrienne was in poor judgement. She knows that now. Anyway, I’m just hoping that we can just–

Steve: Okay, hey, hey, hey, hey, stop. Justin, I don’t have a problem with bonnie anymore.

Bonnie: Ooh. No. Bonnie…

[Gasps] Kiriakis. Yeah, baby. That’s the one. Has a ring to it.

[Sighs] Man, adrienne. Girl, I did you wrong in every way possible. And I’m gonna spend my life making up for that. The best way I can do that is to do my damnedest to make sure I make justin just as happy as you did.

Kayla: As far as I know, tripp is fine. Is there something bothering you that you want to talk about?

Allie: No. No. You were on your way out. So maybe another time.

Kayla: How about now? I was just going to meet steve at the pub, and he is excellent at entertaining himself without me, so… what’s up?

Allie: Okay. Well, the other day, trip told me he loved me. And I didn’t say it back.

Kayla: Okay.

And I don’t know if he talked to you about this. I mean, I don’t want to break a confidence or anything. But after I didn’t say it back, things got kinda awkward. And I don’t know, I just– do you think he’s upset about it?

Tripp: Thank you.

Chanel: Thank you for helping me out with that.

Tripp: Yeah, what the hell was in that box, a couple of anvils?

Chanel: It was an industrial stand mixer. It can knead bread dough for up to eight loaves.

Tripp: And mix concrete?

Chanel: Probably. Anyway, it’s crazy expensive. If I had dropped, it would have cost us a week’s profits.

Tripp: Actually, speaking of “us,” shouldn’t allie have helped you out with that?

Chanel: Oh, she would have. But henry had a doctor’s appointment this morning. He’s a year old, so I guess they have to change his oil and rotate his tires.

Tripp: God, I can’t believe it’s been a year.

Chanel: What a year it’s been. A year ago, I was all that. Now I’m the salemsbury dough girl.

Tripp: I still think you’ve kind of all that.

Chanel: Oh, yeah? And what makes you say so?

Tripp: Maybe because allie told me that you’ve already landed someone new?

Tony: Johnny, look at you. It’s so wonderful to see.

[Laughter]

Anna: We were in the cotswolds when you came back, so we weren’t able to see you. Because we weren’t here. Because we were in the cotswolds.

Tony: Oh, yeah. Yeah. Anna, I think he worked that out.

Johnny: Oh, aunt anna, I’m so happy to see you. And look at you. You haven’t aged a day.

Anna: Oh, well, no, that’s not true. I don’t eat refined grains anymore.

Johnny: Ah. Well, that would explain why you look younger than ever.

Anna: [Laughs] Charmer. And you look marvelous. I mean, who would have thought you’d grow up to be so handsome?

Tony: Anna.

Anna: No, johnny knows what I meant. I meant you were the cutest little boy. And now you’re all grown up. Tempus sure fugited. Time flew by.

Johnny: Ah, yes.

Anna: Oh, johnny. Remember–remember the time I caught you using my expensive hand cream to make slime?

Johnny: Yes, I’m sorry about that.

Anna: No. No. I said it at the time. That boy has a creative instinct. Very fine imagination.

Johnny: Well, I hope so. I’m gonna need it to do what I wanna do.

Tony: And what’s that? Spy on people? Okay, we’re not gonna ask for

Johnny: I wasn’t spying.

Anna: Hmm.

Tony: So what is it– what do you call filming people without their knowledge?

Johnny: Shooting footage. And I gotta tell you, uncle tony, the camera loves you.

Anna: [Coughs] Hello? Hello?

Johnny: And it adores you. I’ll make you both stars.

Anna: Stars.

[Chuckles] What do you mean?

Johnny: I’m makin’ a movie.

Anna: On your phone?

Tony: You can do that?

Johnny: Steven soderbergh does it.

Anna: [Gasps] I loved et.

Johnny: Me too. With the right upgrades, you can get a picture as crisp as any movie camera.

Tony: Huh. And in my day, I used to think that call waiting was an innovation.

Johnny: Here, look.

Tony: Huh.

Anna: Look, we do look amazing, don’t we, tony?

[Both laugh] And so natural. Like we didn’t even know the camera was there.

Tony: Oh, we didn’t know the camera was there, anna. Anyway, this is alla completely revolutionize filmmaking, which is actually why I tracked the two of you down.

Anna: You did?

Johnny: I’m in the process of securing investors, and you and anna could bankroll the entire enterprise.

Justin: So you don’t have a problem with bonnie anymore?

Steve: No. You know, I’ve been working to get past it. And I’m really sorry that I was so hard on her at that dinner. It was unkind to her. And to you.

Justin: Well, I understand that it could have been jarring to see bonnie dress like that.

Steve: Yeah, it was. But with time and a little help from kayla, I was able to get some perspective. I know she was doing it to be accepted.

Justin: Right. Right. That’s what she was going for.

Steve: And anyway, I’m happy that kayla has agreed to be bonnie’s matron of honor. She feels honored to be asked.

Justin: I hope she doesn’t feel like she had to say yes.

Steve: No, no, nothing like that. She’s happy for you and bonnie.

Justin: ‘Cause I would feel bad if she, you know, felt like she owed me. Or you feel like you owe me.

Steve: Did you just segue from friend, brother-in-law, to lawyer?

Justin: [Laughs] Okay, all right. I just wanted to put all the cards on the table before I asked you…

Bonnie: [Groans] I’m up. I’m up.

Calista: It’s about time. I thought I was gonna have to get out the smelling salts. Is this how you always greet your guests?

Bonnie: [Groans] You kinda took me by surprise, you know? Ow.

Bonnie: I mean, it’s been… I dunno, how long has it been? I thought you were long dead.

Bonnie: I am the one who made the mistake. You have no idea what he put me and my kids through.

Calista: Oh, don’t you know you shouldn’t speak ill of the dead? Especially people that you killed?

Bonnie: All right. I think it’s time you go.

Calista: [Laughs] No. Don’t you wanna know why I’m here?

Calista: Well, it’s not to argue over whether or not you killed my brother.

Bonnie: I didn’t do it.

Calista: It’s the fact that you did kill my husband.

Steve: You want me to be your best man?

Justin: I thought that’s what I just said.

Steve: Well, of course. I’d be honored.

Justin: Of course?

Steve: Yeah, but, I mean, don’t you wanna ask sonny, your son?

Justin: I did. I did, of course, but he can’t make it. He’s in the middle of a crisis at work.

Steve: Okay. I mean, have you talked to bonnie about this? I don’t think she’s gonna want me standing there when you marry her.

Justin: It was her idea.

Steve: Oh.

Justin: She thinks if you and kayla stand up for us, it would say the family approves. It would say that we’re not just some kind of novelty.

Steve: Ah, so kayla and i are salem’s good housekeeping seal of approval?

Justin: [Laughs] Exactly. And also, steve, she likes you.

Steve: C’mon, man. You don’t have to say that.

Justin: No, she does. She really does. She likes how you stick up for adrienne’s memory. And she also likes how you always try to do what’s right for kayla. And she also knows how much you both mean to me. She doesn’t wanna screw that up.

Steve: Okay, right.

Justin: But if this is all too weird for you, I completely understand, steve, I really do. And I’ll figure something out.

Steve: Bonnie would know that I turned you down.

Justin: Well, she knows that I’m here with you now, asking you.

Steve: Okay. Well, I don’t wanna do anything else to hurt her feelings. And I don’t wanna mess up your big day. So I would be happy to be your best man.

Kayla: All I know is that tripp cares about you. A lot.

Allie: And I care about him. It’s just when he said those words, it caught me off guard. I wasn’t expecting him to say that, and I could see he wanted me to say it back to him.

Kayla: Okay, I’m gonna chime in right now. Okay? I think you did the right thing.

Allie: You do?

Kayla: Yes. I mean, how many movies are out there where a guy says “I love you” to a woman, and she melts, and she says, “I love you too”? Where are the movies where the woman says, “well, that’s good to know, and I’ll take that under advisement”? No, I don’t mean to be funny. I don’t mean to be funny. I am just saying that saying I love you to somebody shouldn’t be a conditioned response. I mean, saying “I love you” is a really big deal. It shouldn’t be something that you say because you’ve been given the cue or because you feel so bad that you’re gonna hurt their feelings.

Allie: Yeah. Yeah, you’re right. It’s like I couldn’t say it because I’m not sure. I’m not sure if I love him. But I’m also not sure that I don’t love him.

Kayla: Well, this is your timetable. It’s your call.

Allie: But what I do know, I am sure, is, I like being with him. I miss him when he’s not around. But then there’s our whole long, ugly history. There’s henry. You know, if I asked– I asked tripp to wait, if I tell him I need more time, am I asking too much?

Chanel: I actually did meet someone. We went out last night. But you already know that, right? Horton said you guys almost walked in on our date?

Tripp: Oh, yes. Yeah, we did.

Chanel: Well, you should have come in. I could have introduced you.

Tripp: I guess allie just wanted to give you a chance to get to know each other better.

Channel: Yeah, that’s sweet of her.

Tripp: So how’s it going? Do you think it could turn into something?

Chanel: Maybe. We went by his place afterwards, and things started to heat up. But he didn’t have a condom and either did I, so we didn’t do anything.

Tripp: Wow. That’s a romantic story. Just like “romeo and juliet.”

Chanel: [Laughs] Tmi? Well, the point is that, yeah, we’re getting along really good together. So it might turn into something.

Tripp: Well, I’m glad to hear that.

Chanel: Why do you care?

Tripp: ‘Cause I think it’d be nice if you had someone.

Chanel: ‘Cause then I won’t be in the middle of you and allie?

Anna: Johnny, does your film have a vision? Because I think it’s very important for a film to have a vision.

Johnny: Oh, yeah. I mean, this film, vision, yes.

Anna: Well, then I’m on board.

Johnny: Great.

Anna: Do we get to go to the premiere?

Johnny: Yes, of course. And if we get nominated, you get to go to the oscars. And if we win best picture, it would be you two who accept.

Anna: Tony, we have to go to milan. For my dress.

[Laughs]

Tony: You know, you’ll find that anna has a kind of genius for prioritizing.

Johnny: I see.

Anna: Oh, you know, tony thinks I don’t know that he’s making fun of me. But I do. And I don’t care. Thank you. It’s an honor to just be nominated.

[Laughs] Tony, can’t you just imagine it?

Tony: Yes, I can. I can see you taking hollywood by storm.

Johnny: So does this mean you’ll do it?

Ej: No. He won’T.

Johnny: Not that I recall. I recall saying no, dad.

Ej: You astutely turned down the first offer. It was a negotiating ploy.

Johnny: It was a no.

Anna: Well, I have an idea. Johnny could run the dimera film division.

Ej: There is no dimera film division.

Anna: Well, then he could start one. And we could call it dimeraflix.

Tony: I think we should leave ej and johnny alone to speak privately.

Ej: Don’t go yet. Our agreement was that I would take over dimera so you could enjoy the rising profits without actually having to do any work. I’m fine with that. Against the best interests of the company. Financing johnny’s movie is a acting against the interests of the company. Understood?

Tony: Sometimes you forget who you’re talking to. You presume too much. I’m sorry, johnny. Maybe sometime down the road. It’s just not the right time. I hope you understand.

Johnny: Of course I do, fredo.

Justin: So now that you’ve agreed to be my best man, can I ask one more thing?

Steve: Oh, now you’re really pushing it, man.

Justin: Will you not hold it against me for the rest of my life?

[Both laugh]

Steve: I’ll do you one better and I’ll tell you, I think it’s a good idea.

Justin: Ah, really?

Steve: Yeah. I mean, kayla has agreed to be matron of honor. She’s usually right about– well, about everything. But especially about family. And you and I, we’re family because of adrienne. And I know that adrienne would want us to stay family.

Justin: Yeah. She would.

[Sighs] This means a lot to me, steve. And I can’t wait to tell bonnie.

Steve: Yeah. And you know, I shouldn’t have been so high-handed about all the things bonnie did in the past. I mean, all the crap that I did and I was forgiven for.

Justin: She’s been really upfront about everything that she’s done. And she’s really serious about just leaving that past behind her.

Calista: You do remember my husband, harrison lord? The one you plugged full of lead?

Bonnie: Shh! That’s not what happened.

Calista: So you’re denying that you shot my husband to death.

Bonnie: Please! I don’t have time for your grieving widow act.

Calista: Well, honey, I think you better make some time.

Bonnie: You know what one of the loveliest things about living in a place like this? I can just push a button right here, and two big men would come in here and just throw you out on your bony ass.

Calista: Oh, bonnie. Trust me. I don’t think you should do that.

[Humming] I’ve got moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.

Bonnie: What’s that for?

Calista: Well, what do you think?

Bonnie: No, you can’t kill me. No, you’d be caught red-handed in 30 secs. Please, you would–please. If I die, I can’t marry justin.

Calista: Oh, you don’t recognize it? It’s the one you use to send harrison to the hereafter. I just wanted to make sure that you saw your prints are still on it. May I remind you that in a murder case, the statute of limitations, much like your self-absorption, never runs out.

Bonnie: Your point?

Calista: Well, I can use that gun to put you back in the slammer any old time. That is, unless you pay me what’s mine.

Allie: One of the things I love about tripp– god, that word again. That he– after all of the horrible things I said to him– god, I accused him of rape. Held a gun on him. But he’s put all of that behind him. Like I’m not the person who did those things to him.

Kayla: Well, in a way, you’re not.

Allie: He even says he understands why I thought he was the one who–you know. Talk about forgiveness. Not only forgave me, but you should see with henry. I mean, I had no idea that little boys thought it was hilarious to be held upside down, but tripp did. And not to be crude, but he’s not all that bad looking.

Kayla: But?

Allie: He ticks every box. He answers every prayer. But a part of me wonders if what I feel for him is guilt. Like I owe him. Or gratitude because he loves me and he takes care of my child.

[Sighs] Maybe I can’t be honest with him because I’m not being honest with myself.

Kayla: I think you were honest with him. You didn’t parrot back “I love you” because you didn’t know if you did. And like you said, it’s not that you don’t love him. It’s just that you don’t know, one way or the other, right? But this is what I know for sure. In time, you will know one way or the other.

Allie: [Sighs] But what–I mean, he’s just supposed to put his life on hold while I sort out my feelings? I mean, newsflash, he is a sensitive hunk who’s going to be a doctor. I mean, those are a hot commodity. They go fast in this market.

Kayla: You know what? I have seen the way he looks at you. And the way he talks about you. I think he’ll wait for you.

Tripp: You’re not in the middle of me and allie, okay? I just meant that–

Chanel: I know what you meant, and it’s okay. See, I agree. It would be a lot easier on all of us if I had someone else. Then we could just forget that I ever had feelings for allie.

Tripp: I’m glad you feel like that. I mean, you two are such good friends. I’d hate for it to be awkward.

Chanel: Yeah, me too. We work together.

Tripp: Yeah. Hey, I have an idea. You know, why don’t you, me, allie, and the new guy go out together sometime?

Chanel: You guys busy tonight?

Tripp: No. Hey, have you tried that new bar off the square? They have great happy hour.

Chanel: I do love a great happy hour.

Tripp: Yeah, I remember.

Chanel: Okay, and I promise not to stick you with the check this time. Although I may have to pay for my date. Giovanni is having some financial difficulties with his dad.

Johnny: I’m sorry, uncle tony. I’m so sorry. That’s–

Tony: You know, he should know better. But it’s okay.

Johnny: No, it’s not. It just–it came out.

Anna: Honey. Honey. Sometimes, when someone is acting like an imperious jerk, it’s not the imperious jerk who gets yelled at.

Ej: Another county heard from.

Tony: Yes, well, we should take our leave. Try to understand where your father’s coming from. He wants you to follow in his footsteps. He wants you to do something that is stable, secure, safe. Just like racecar driving. Good luck. But I always remember how well you reacted to direct orders.

Johnny: Well, thanks for doing that publicly. I know I really enjoyed it.

Ej: It was family business.

Johnny: Really? That’s great. I mean, if that’s how the family business goes, I can’t wait to join the firm. Damn it, I was having a private conversation, and you barged in and start issuing orders everywhere?

Ej: You were grubbing for money from your uncle after I turned you down. It seems to me you want all the perks of being a dimera without any of the responsibility. And to be clear, I wasn’t issuing orders.

Johnny: I think uncle tony would disagree with that.

Ej: I’m making you an offer. An offer you have now turned down twice without bothering to listen to what the offer is. You haven’t asked what you’d be doing. You haven’t even seen the offices. How do you know you won’t like working there if you haven’t even tried it? Let’s start from the beginning. I’m happy you’re back. I would like to work with you. Steve: I’ll clear my schedule. And I will do my duty as best man, and I will get you to the church on time.

Bonnie: Pay you? What am I supposed to pay you?

Calista: The money, of course.

Calista: Okay, so you want me to tell you the whole story? Fine. You remember when buddy’s burger barn had that promotion? Buddy bucks? You’d get one with your meal, and you’d scratch off buddy’s little gold teeth to see what prize you won, and if it said million, you won a million bucks.

Bonnie: Vaguely.

Harrison worked at buddy’s corporate office. He had access to all the buddy bucks. Knew exactly which ones were the winners. But he couldn’t turn it in himself, so he came up with a scam. He asked you to do it in exchange for a cut of the money. He was about to make you a very rich woman. But that wasn’t enough for you, was it? So you killed him and ran off with the money.

Bonnie: But that’s–

Calista: No buts! Those buddy bucks were ours. Harrison might be gone, but I am not. And I want that money. Now.

Kayla: Hey.

Steve: Hey, wait a minute. Did we just have another kid that I didn’t hear about?

Kayla: Very funny. No, we’re gonna babysit this little pumpkin.

Steve: Oh. The day keeps getting better and better.

Kayla: Something wrong?

Steven: Justin asked me to be his best man.

Kayla: And you got in another fight about bonnie?

Steve: No. I said I’d do it.

Rafe: No, no. I’m actually having breakfast alone. If you want to join me…

Ava: Do you not have somewhere u need to be?

Gabi: Oh, no, I do. I just love saying “I told you so.” Rafe is on his way to moving on. Ava! What happened? Did you lose your appetite?

Ava: Only because the sight of you makes me sick.

Gabi: Oh, that’s funny. I have the same reaction to the sight of you. But don’t worry. We won’t be seeing nearly as much of each other once rafe decides he wants to be with nicole and… drops you in the gutter, where you belong.

Ava: [Exhales heavily] Puttana stupida! Might want to be a little more careful who you turn your back on.

Philip: Wait. While I do respect my mother’s opinion, I make my own decisions. Welcome to titan.

Jake: [Laughs]

Gabi: Now that I’ve got you in the door at titan, we can move on from phase one.

Jake: Okay. What’s phase two?

Gabi: We watch. We listen. We gather information. We learn everything that we can about the way philip does business, and then we find the perfect way to sabotage him.

[Laughs] We’ll take him down so fast and hard, he’ll never know what hit him.

[Dramatic music]

Nicole: You know, this is the second time you’ve cooked for me this week.

Rafe: Hmm. Well, actually, I don’t think boiling water for boxed mac and cheese with holly helping actually counts as cooking.

Nicole: [Laughs] Yeah.

Rafe: Yeah. Yep. Yeah. Mm. Oh. I don’t think this actually counts as cooking, either.

Nicole: Oh, stop it. Stop it; you have been so good to me, and if you’re not careful, you just might spoil me.

Rafe: So you’re gonna try them?

Nicole: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Here we go. Yes.

Rafe: Really?

Ava: “I am sorry for blowing up the way I did about you and nicole. You’re just friends. I need to understand that.” Oh, the hell you are, ’cause if you had it your way, you’d be with her right now. But then, of course, you’d have to be man enough to admit what you really want. Delete. “The only thing I’m sorry about is that I was clueless enough to expect a man to understand anything about women.”

Steve: Who are you texting, ava?

[Disquieting music]

I’ve got moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.

Brady: There’s nothing wrong with a little healthy competition.

Chloe: Unless you’re doing it just to mess with philip.

Brady: Chloe, I don’t know. I don’t get it. If you think for one second that I’m gonna tiptoe around philip’s infantile feelings when it comes to making a business deal, that’s not gonna happen. And I think I need to remind you that philip is not your boss. I am.

Chloe: So are you ordering me to go to new york with you, boss?

Jake: Look, I admire your ability to separate the personal from the professional.

Philip: My priority is the future of this company. I can’t let my mother’s doubts or, frankly, her hatred of you color a decision as important as this.

Jake: Okay, well, with all due respect, as someone who works for the competition, I don’t think kate has titan’s best interests at heart.

Philip: And you do?

Jake: You will find me to be very loyal.

Philip: I’m counting on that. Your knowledge of dimera, your ceo experience, will make you an invaluable asset.

Gabi: I couldn’t agree more. Looks like we’ve got a new hire.

Philip: Could you catch him up on what’s going on with gabi chic?

Philip: A few hours.

Gabi: Well, I guess it’s just the two of us.

Nicole: I ran into gabi outside the brady pub, and I shared with her how bad I feel about how much I’ve leaned on you, and I went on about how you’ve comforted me, and gabi said she knows firsthand that you wanted me to lean on you.

Rafe: That is true. I told you that. Well, um… I am happy to be here for you through all of this.

Nicole: Yeah, I know. You’ve told me that. But I’m just worried that gabi was being polite.

Rafe: [Scoffs] Gabi is a lot of things, but polite is not one of them. But just so we’re clear…

Nicole: Clear about what?

Rafe: I wanna be here for you, and like I said, I wanna help you through all of this because that’s what friends are for. But gabi is just making trouble.

Nicole: Trouble for who?

Rafe: Ava. She has been amusing herself by trying to convince ava that I don’t wanna be with her anymore because I wanna be with you.

Ava: Oh, steven. Didn’t see you there. I was just texting rafe.

Steve: Well, it’s none of my business, but you might wanna think twice before you send it.

Ava: You’re right.

[Phone beeps] Deleted.

Steve: So… how are things going with you two?

Ava: Oh, they’re great, just really, really great, especially since we had a big fight this morning, but now, you get to gloat because you warned rafe that dating me would be the biggest mistake of his life.

Steve: I was out of line to say that. And… I owe you an apology.

Bonnie: Ah. Maybe we should’ve waited till after brunch to tell victor about the wedding.

Justin: Egg?

Bonnie: Mm-mm, caper.

Justin: [Laughs]

Bonnie: I suppose I should apologize to old vic for throwing the lox, though honestly, I didn’t think it would actually hit him.

Justin: Why? He started it. Why apologize?

Bonnie: Right. That’s right, he did. He did, when he dumped my countrified steak and eggs in my lap.

Justin: Right?

Bonnie: Oh, look. Oh. Mmm, mmm, mmm! So good! Remind me to thank cook for making it just like my mama did.

Justin: You’re not angry?

Bonnie: Honey, I’m hungry, but angry? We both know how victor feels about me. Is it–[Laughs] Is it a surprise he threw in a side of bacon with his opinion?

Justin: You deserve better.

Bonnie: You know, maybe you do. Seriously, look at me. It’s what most of your family and friends think, isn’t it? Seeing victor so upset, so disgusted, I think that right about now, you’re wondering if really there should be a wedding at all. Pool floaties are like whooping cough.

Gabi: All right, now you’ve had the grand tour, what do you think?

Jake: I think that this… this is right where I belong. Ah, yeah. Hmm?

Gabi: Jake, do you mean titan, or that ceo chair?

Jake: Oh, I like the view from behind this desk.

Gabi: Really? Well, get your ass out of that chair–my chair–because we have things to do.

Jake: Hmm. What do you have in mind?

Gabi: We need to turn this place upside down if we’re gonna find something that’s gonna help us convince victor to get his son out of this company.

Justin: Our wedding is about you and me, no one else, so it is definitely on for tomorrow. I don’t care if the old goat comes or not. If he doesn’t, at least our wedding cake will be safe.

[Both laugh]

Bonnie: [Inhales sharply] Sometimes I seriously have to pinch myself. This is… this is real, and you’re real.

Justin: As real as that cream cheese on your neck right there.

Bonnie: Right there? Ooh.

Justin: I’ll get it.

Bonnie: Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness. Mm.

Justin: That’s tasty.

Justin: Maybe we should… take this upstairs.

Bonnie: [Gasps] Are you kidding me? Honey, there’s 24 hours to our wedding! I gotta lock in my matron of honor… if you’re still okay with kayla standing up for me. I mean, I did ask her already and everything.

Justin: No, I’m very okay. I’m very okay. In fact, as you know, sonny will be my best man. I’m just waiting to hear from– er, get a text from him about when he arrives tomorrow.

Bonnie: Okay.

Justin: Oh, wait a minute. I just missed a phone call from him. Better call him back. Sonny, sorry I missed your call. So what time do you arrive tomorrow? Oh, no.

Ava: You owe me an apology? Now that’s a new one.

Steve: I’ve started to realize that I tend to hold on to my opinion of other people even when what’s right in front of me tells me that that opinion might not hold water anymore.

Ava: What are you talking about?

Steve: You. Bonnie lockhart.

Ava: I don’t understand.

Steve: When justin started dating bonnie, I warned him that she would make his life hell, just like I warned rafe against you. Justin said she’d changed. She said the same thing. I didn’t believe it, and I was wrong. Bonnie’s good for justin. Oh, they’re happy. Hell, they’re engaged.

Ava: Hmm.

Steve: So I couldn’t see who bonnie had become because I couldn’t see past the grudge I had against her.

Ava: So what changed?

Steve: A very wise woman told me that you have to let go of the hurt and anger to find compassion. It’s the only way to move forward. So it’s time I did that. It’s time I realized that bonnie really is trying to change. Least I can do is give her the benefit of the doubt. And you deserve that too.

Nicole: [Gasps] I–that’s ridiculous. You and I are just friends, right? I mean, that’s it.

Rafe: Right? Yeah, yes, and that’s what I– I’ve been telling ava that over and over, but you know, gabi’s getting her because gab is a master button-pusher, and she’s been pushing ava’s buttons, and so… we had a fight.

Nicole: About you and me.

Rafe: Yeah.

Nicole: [Sighs] Rafe, I’m so sorry.

Rafe: No, no, no, no, no. Nicole, you don’t have to be sorry. There’s nothing for you to be sorry for. It’s just… you know, if something that small set ava off, and she doesn’t trust me anyway, I… you know, in the beginning, i thought that–I thought we were a great match, you know, and that things were really gonna work out, but… I don’t know. Maybe we’re just too different to make things work.

Brady: No, of course I’m not gonna order you to go to new york. I would never make you do anything you’re uncomfortable with. However, that being said, i could really use your help in new york, especially since nicole can’t go.

Jake: Whoa!

Gabi: What? What did you find?

Jake: Guy collects baseball cards. Sammy sosa rookie, o’brien…

Gabi: [Spluttering] Stop! Baseball cards are not gonna bring philip down.

Jake: All right, you’re right, you’re right. It feels good, though, to be back on track, I gotta say. My hiring almost didn’t happen, okay? Kate warned phil that you and i might screw him over.

Gabi: It’s a good thing that philip doesn’t listen to mommy dearest. You know, there is nothing here!

Jake: Yeah, not everything is as easy as pushing ava vitali’s buttons.

Gabi: I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Jake: Mm. She was ready to combust this morning, and you put a match to her.

Gabi: She doesn’t belong with my brother, so what, I’ve been trying to get into her head so she gets out of my brother’s life. Who cares?

Jake: You really think that’s a good idea?

Gabi: It was so easy. I just–I plant this tiny seed in her mind that my brother’s more interested in nicole, and ava runs with it. I mean, I expected her to, but i didn’t think that she’d be busting his chops so soon.

Jake: Even though nothing’s going on between rafe and nicole?

Gabi: Not yet. But I might have seen nicole earlier, and I might have suggested that she take her “woe is me” sob story and rest her sad little head on rafe’s big, supportive shoulder.

[Laughs] Pretty sure she’s there now.

Nicole: So ava accused me of having feelings for you, and, you know, I tried to explain to her that you’re just going through a rough patch, and I was doing things that any friend would do, but ava’s got it through her head that I secretly want you, and I couldn’t convince her otherwise. I mean, how crazy is that?

Nicole: It’s not so crazy.

Rafe: What?

Nicole: Maybe ava’s right.

Ava: It means a lot that you would have an open mind about me.

Steve: Well, you keep telling me you wanna be a better person for our son. I respect that, and I know how much it means to tripp.

Ava: I mean, there is nothing that I want more than to make tripp proud of me.

Steve: Well, looks like you’re on your way. But I can’t expect you to up your game unless I do the same, so I wanna say, if you and rafe are happy, I hope it all works out.

Ava: Thanks, but I’m not so sure that it’s going to. I’m not so sure that he still wants to be with me. We women are in the know about everything.

Bonnie: [Scoffs] We’re talking steve and kayla here. You can’t have one without the other. I mean, they go together like gin and tonic.

Justin: Bonnie, the real reason?

Bonnie: [Sighs] Okay. All right. When I pitched being my matron of honor to kayla, I said to her that having a classy woman like her would tell the whole world that marrying me might be a good thing, you know? If kayla johnson was in our corner, then obviously, you and me were meant to be. You know? And then having steve there– well, a legit supercouple? I mean, b-oom! Proverbial icing on the big old wedding cake, eh? Right? I mean, right?

Justin: [Chuckles]

Bonnie: What?

Justin: I don’t know how exactly, but you convinced me.

Bonnie: [Gasps]

Justin: And that it obviously means a lot to you, so, in the interest of making my bride-to-be happy, I will ask steve to be my best man.

Bonnie: Yes, yes, yes, yes! Oh, thank you! Thank you, justin. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Justin: I don’t know how in the hell I’m going to convince him to say yes, but I will– I’ll think of something.

Bonnie: Oh!

[Laughs]

Ava: I started the whole thing. No, I was upset because of how close he is with nicole.

Steve: You know they’ve been friends for years, right?

Ava: Yes, I know that… up here. In here… all I see is that she is the one that he wants to be with. She’s the one who laughs with him so easily. Whenever I can’t find him, guess where he is. With her. And it stings in my heart every single time, and I certainly don’t have to tell you how crazy and jealous i can get.

Jake: Gabi… if I were you, I would leave ava vitali alone.

Gabi: What, because she’s some sort of mafia princess? Think that scares me?

Jake: No, I don’t, but maybe it should. Maybe you should be a little more respectful of her past.

Gabi: Did you cross paths with her when you were working for her crime family?

Jake: No, I didn’T. I was too low on the food chain to be on her radar. But I’m telling you, I heard stories. She’s ruthless, brutal, even, so do me a favor. Do yourself a favor. Steer clear of her.

Gabi: No, never mind me. What about rafe? If she was so brutal and ruthless, she better stay the hell away from my brother.

Steve: I’ve known you a long time, ava, so maybe you’ll take a bit of advice. Try trusting rafe.

Ava: Hmm, trust. Now, there is something I am not very good at.

Steve: But you can learn. Because if you let your insecurity make you paranoid, that always leads to obsession, and I’d like to think those bad old days are behind you. So if rafe says he wants to be with you, take him at his word.

[Gentle music]

 

Rafe: What do you think that ava’s right about?

Nicole: Well, she’s not right about you and me. I mean, you secretly wanting me–that’s ridiculous. But she is right about spending time together, about me leaning on you too much.

Rafe: Well, that’s not her call.

Nicole: Can you just hear me out?

Rafe: Okay.

Nicole: I know ava, and i know how insecure she can be, especially with men. I mean, she asked you in front of me if you had feelings for me, and you said no, and she still couldn’t accept it.

Rafe: Well, she’s gonna have to accept it. I mean, she’s gonna have to accept that you and I are friends. I’m not gonna stop hanging out with you just because she feels threatened.

Nicole: Well, why not? If you care about her, why would you want her to feel that way?

Rafe: Well, I don’t want her to feel that way, but I also– I don’t like that she’s so possessive, and… you know, I don’t want to spend less time with you, or anyone else, for that matter, just because she feels jealous or insecure.

Nicole: Okay. I understand.

Rafe: Okay.

Nicole: But when I suggested that ava move in here with you–

Rafe: You mean when you strongarmed me.

Nicole: Yes, when i strongarmed you. I just–I thought that you could be good for her, and you have been, and you wanna know what else I see? That she’s been good for you. And I do not wanna get in the way of that. I really don’T.

Rafe: Okay, look, you just ended your marriage.

Nicole: And you and ava just started something. And it’s like I just said to you, this is working for you and for her, and I just think that– I just think that you both should see where it could go.

Chloe: Hey, what are you doing here?

Philip: I thought I’d take another crack at the whole gabi chic-basic black collaboration idea.

Brady: I’m pretty sure we closed the door on that.

Philip: You did. You slammed it shut. But then I told myself, “poor brady wouldn’t know a great idea if it bit him in the ass.”

Brady: [Chuckles]

Philip: So I’m trying again, with details. General business model, comps, projections, revenue streams.

Brady: Whoa. Well, you’re serious. And here I thought this might just be an excuse for you to check on chloe.

Philip: Why would I need to do that?

Brady: Ah. Well, hey, man, this is great. This is great, and chloe and I– we will take a look at this on the jet.

Philip: What?

Brady: Yeah, listen, I’m gonna make some last-minute arrangements, and you two talk.

Philip: What’s going on?

Chloe: [Sighs] Brady wants me to go to new york with him. Truthfully, it’s frustrating to see how fast dust reappears.

Philip: Why can’t nicole go to new york with brady?

Chloe: Nicole’s still really upset about eric, and she wanted to take the rest of the week off.

Philip: So brady can go solo.

Chloe: He insists that he needs me there.

Philip: I bet he does.

Chloe: He also did say I’d have a chance to see parker and my parents.

Philip: I can take you to see parker and your parents. We’ll go to new york next weekend or anytime you want.

Chloe: You trust me, don’t you?

Philip: Of course. It’s brady I don’t trust. The man knows you’re with me, and he keeps angling to get between us.

Chloe: In case you’ve forgotten, I’m with you, and nothing changes that.

Philip: Right. Right, I know. And I don’t like telling you not to do this. I mean, it’s your job. It’s your decision. It’s just picturing you on the dimera jet with him, staying in a hotel–

Chloe: Philip, stop. Stop, please, and listen. You are more important than business, so if you don’t want me to go with brady, then i won’T.

Bonnie: I have seen you in court, counselor, and you could talk a gate off its hinges. I have every confidence that you can get steve to go along.

Justin: Okay, then, I’ll text him. I better change these clothes, too, before I meet him.

Bonnie: Maybe. I oughta get to work too. I gotta decide whether I want, ah, man, rice or birdseed, confetti, nothing, oh, what about the menu? Do–hey. My groom have any suggestions?

Justin: About the menu?

Bonnie: Mm-hmm.

Justin: Um… definitely don’t make it brunch.

Bonnie: [Laughs] Good idea. Mm.

Ava: After I made a scene and slammed out of the house, I… I left rafe without breakfast, so, if you will excuse me, I am going to bring him his favorite muffin and an apology, a real apology.

Steve: Sounds like a good plan.

Ava: You know, steve, in the past, probably would’ve just told me to go to hell, but you spent a lot of time with me and gave me some really good advice. Thank you.

Steve: It’s okay. Just remember, nicole is your friend.

Ava: She’s my best friend, and I trust her, and I trust rafe too.

Rafe: I’m sorry, but no. No, that doesn’t work for me. I’m not gonna start seeing a lot less of you, or whatever it is that you are suggesting.

Nicole: Rafe–

Rafe: No, that doesn’t work, nicole, okay? Just because I’m going out with ava, that doesn’t mean that i can’t see you.

Rafe: No, like it wasn’t bad enough that I wasn’t there for you when you got the phone call that night from eric? I mean, none of this would’ve happened–

Jake: Oh, wouldn’t you think philip might mind?

Gabi: I don’t care. This is gonna be my office very soon.

Jake: Oh, don’t you mean my office?

Gabi: Well, maybe we can share.

[Sultry music]

 

Philip: No, I’m not gonna stop you from doing your job. So go to new york. I hope it’s a worthwhile trip.

Chloe: You sure?

Philip: I’m totally sure. A visit with parker will do you good.

Chloe: Thank you so much for being so understanding.

Philip: Just hurry back.

Chloe: Oh, I will.

Brady: Um, we’re all set to go. We can leave this afternoon, assuming it’s okay with philip.

Philip: Why wouldn’t it be? You’re very lucky to have chloe– working for you, that is, at least for now.

Brady: I agree, I am.

Chloe: Okay, I’m gonna call parker and tell him I’m gonna see him soon.

Philip: You do anything inappropriate with my girlfriend, in new york or anywhere else, I will kill you.

[Dramatic music]

 

Rafe: No. No, nicole, you don’t just get to do this. You can’t just unilaterally decide what’s best for me and then sideline our friendship.

Nicole: No, rafe, that’s not what I’m doing. I am just… giving us a time-out.

Rafe: You’re in a bad place, nicole.

Nicole: That I brought on myself. But I am going to get through it with the support of my friends and family.

[Sighs] My other friends. No, I have chloe, and– and even ava. She’s been pretty solid in the friend department. Please, try to understand. Please, rafe.

Rafe: [Sighs] Okay, then. Okay.

Nicole: Thank you. And would you mind if I… hung on to duke for a little while longer?

Rafe: Somebody’s gotta watch out for you.

Nicole: Yeah.

Rafe: Are you gonna finish your breakfast?

Nicole: Well, like you said, it does need a little more hot sauce.

Rafe: Yeah. Okay, well, guess this is it.

Nicole: For now.

Rafe: Yeah. So…

Steve: I got your text. What’s up?

Justin: I have a favor to ask.

Steve: Name it.

Justin: I think you better brace yourself.

Jake: Mmm.

[Chuckles] Isn’t it a little too early to be working?

Gabi: Not for philip. He’s already typing an email. I mean, of course I can see it, because I installed that keystroke software into his computer. Oh, my god, jake, he’s writing an email rig now to titan’s general counsel with the subject in all caps… “confidential.”

Jake: What does it say?

Gabi: “Dear kent, I need your advice on an extremely sensitive matter. It’s imperative that what I’m about to share remains strictly between us. The issue at hand is–”

Jake: Come on, dude! Suspense is killin’ me.

Gabi: He just stopped typing! Come on, philip, what is the issue at hand?

Kate: Okay, we need to talk.

Philip: I told my assistant I wasn’t to be disturbed.

Kate: Yes, well, I assume that doesn’t apply to your mother…who’s here to stop you from making a terrible mistake.

Chloe: Hey.

Brady: Hey, thanks for coming in so early.

Chloe: Oh, not a problem. What’s the emergency?

Brady: It’s not really an emergency, but, uh, the dimera jet is fueled up and it’s on the tarmac, it’s waiting for us.

Chloe: Why?

Brady: Because I’m whisking you away.

Rafe: Mmm. Good morning.

Ava: Morning.

Rafe: I hope I didn’t miss breakfast.

Ava: Coffee’s hot.

Rafe: Refill?

Ava: Nope. I’m good.

Rafe: Kay. I can set the table.

Ava: Oh… you meant you want… breakfast.

Rafe: Well, if it’s not too much trouble.

Ava: Oh, no, no trouble.

Rafe: You, uh…know how to make the italian eggs?

Ava: Yeah, I do. But I decided not to. In case you have plans with nicole.

Roman: We’re not open yet.

Nicole: I, uh, I came here to talk to you. I-I’m sorry it’s taken me so long. I haven’t been in the mood to see people. Roman…

[Sighs] I feel terrible that the party you hosted for me and eric turned out to be such a disaster. I truly am sorry.

Roman: You should be.

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

 

Rafe: Again…I am very sorry that I missed dinner the other night. I should have called you and let you know that I was stopping by nicole’S.

Ava: Yes, you should have.

Rafe: Yeah. But she’s your friend too… and she’s going through a really rough time right now, so i just–I assumed that you would be okay with it, that you wouldn’t want her to be alone.

Ava: I didn’t–which is why i offered to bring dinner over to her place, and you told me not to.

Rafe: Well, because she said that she didn’t want company.

Ava: [Huffs] Oh, so I’m company and you’re not?

Rafe: Okay, that–that is not what I meant.

Ava: Okay, then you know what? You better start explaining, because it sounds to me like you think that you’re the only person on the planet who can help nicole.

Rafe: Okay, she said that she didn’t want a lot of people around, okay? She’s depressed. I mean, the girl, she can barely get out of her own bed.

Ava: Poor baby!

Rafe: Oh, my– ava, come on. She’s hurting.

Ava: What–th-that surprises you?

Rafe: No, it doesn’t surprise me, it doesn’t surprise me at all, I mean, I-I would expect her to be depressed, considering the circumstances.

Ava: Yeah, the circumstances which sh– never mind.

Rafe: No, no, no. Go ahead. Finish what you were gonna say.

Ava: Nicole chose to cheat on her husband with xander. It is her own damn fault that her marriage is over.

Roman: Eric… came all the way back from africa to surprise you for your anniversary, only to find out, in public, that you slept with another man–a man you both hate. He was completely humiliated.

[Melancholy music]

 

Nicole: I made a terrible mistake that I will regret for the rest of my life. But I am not the only one to blame here.

Roman: Wait a minute–if you’re suggesting that eric is responsible here–

Nicole: No, I’m talking about sami. She wanted to blow up my life, so she had xander march in here and make that big announcement, and she didn’t give a damn how much she hurt her brother.

Chloe: So, you’re… whisking me away?

Brady: To new york. A new distributor called. He wants a face to face today.

Chloe: Oh! That’s great, uh, but why do I have to come along?

Brady: [Chuckling] Because you work for me–you’re part of the company. Besides, you’re gonna get to see your family–you’d get to see parker, your parents. I know you miss ’em.

Chloe: I-I do, but–

Brady: So let’s go to the kiriakis place and get your overnight bag, and we’ll get on the road.

Chloe: Brady, I’m not so sure about this.

Brady: What–I mean, you don’t wanna see your family or–

Chloe: No, of course I do, but I don’t–I don’t know if philip would approve of this, you know? You and I jetting off to new york together.

Philip: Is this about me dating chloe?

Kate: Oh, my god, no, it’s not about chloe. It’s about jake. Philip, you can’t bring him on board at titan. He’s an untrustworthy jerk who’s gonna work to undermine you and eventually stab you in the back.

Philip: I understand that you’re…cynical where jake is concerned.

[Kate sighs] But I do not fear that. His own family staged a coup to get rid of him, with you casting the deciding vote, I might add. So, no, I’m trusting that he’s still so angry that he’ll be all in with helping me and gabi crush dimera.

Kate: Oh…really? You do remember that I work for dimera, right?

Philip: We both know that you’ll be working just as hard to crush us. May the best company win.

Kate: You know, I’m really afraid that you’re becoming dangerously naive. I don’t think that you have completely thought out what it means for you to get in bed with gabi and jake.

Gabi: Why did he stop typing? Oh, come on, philip! W-what–

Jake: Maybe he got a phone call or something.

Gabi: I need to see that email. I mean, what if the issue at hand is that he’s in trouble again?

Jake: We don’t know that.

Gabi: But that’s very likely. I mean, think about it, jake. Not too long ago, philip was laundering mob money through titan to clear his gambling debts. What if… what if he’s doing that again, or maybe something worse, and scrambling to try to cover it up? What if this is exactly what we need to get him out of titan?

Jake: Okay, I hope you’re right, but you know what they say about a watched computer, right? Maybe… there’s something else we can do to pass the time.

Gabi: [Sighs] I can’t–I don’t wanna miss anything important.

Jake: Oh, come on, hey, you said this software records everything, right?

Gabi: Yes.

Jake: Okay, so how ’bout you take the computer… and you put it on the bedside table? Huh? And that way, if he starts typing again, you’ll see it.

Gabi: I–

Jake: And we won’t have to sit here staring at the damn screen all morning. How ’bout that?

Gabi: Well, that kinda works.

Jake: Yeah? Oh, but–but…no cameras, because given how you illegally hacked into philip’s computer, I’m not takin’ any chances. Huh?

Gabi: All right.

Jake: Okay.

Gabi: Take it off.

Jake: Oh, I’m gonna. There ya go. Hanger.

Gabi: Very wise.

Jake: Get over here. Before treating your chronic migraine,

Rafe: Pretty harsh way to talk about your friend.

Ava: Nicole is my friend, but it doesn’t change the fact that she broke her vows.

Rafe: Well, she didn’t deserve to have it broadcast at her anniversary party.

Ava: No, she didn’t, but cheating’s a risk, and she knew that eric might find out somehow.

Rafe: Okay. Fine. Can we just put this into context? You know, the night that this happened, nicole got a call from eric. He said that he was extending his stay africa again. She was devastated. She got drunk, she wasn’t thinking clearly, and then xander being the pig he is, took advantage of that.

Ava: Okay. So if somebody cheated on you, you’d just give ’em a pass.

Rafe: No.

Ava: So then how come she gets one?

Rafe: I’m– okay…I’m not saying that it’s okay. All I am saying is that i understand it. And the saddest part about this whole thing is that if we’d have been there for her, it would have never happened.

Ava: Oh, so now it’s our fault.

Rafe: No, of course it is not our fault, I’m just– I am just kicking myself for silencing my phone. I wish that I would have gotten nicole’s call.

Ava: Why? So you could have slept with her instead?

Rafe: [Small laugh]

Nicole: Xander didn’t just decide to tell the whole world about what happened between us. And if I know him, he didn’t do it for free.

Roman: Do you have proof that sami paid him off?

Nicole: No. But sami hounded me for weeks after she saw us walk into the salem inn together.

Roman: She was suspicious. So what?

Nicole: So–[Huffs] She was relentless. And she even told me she would do whatever it took to expose me. And–ask belle. She is convinced that sami set this whole thing up.

Roman: All right. Well, that is hard to hear. Pains to me hear that, uh…

[Sighs] Sami would hurt her brother like that.

Nicole: But not surprising to you, right? Ever since the day eric and i got married, sami has been on a mission to break us up.

Roman: You know what? Even if she was involved, you still cheated on my son. A wonderful, honorable man– the best.

Nicole: I know.

Roman: Yeah, well, if that’s true, and you know what a decent, kind, loving man your husband is, how in the hell could you hurt him like that?

Gabi: That was great, as usual. And now…

Jake: Oh, nice, glad I could distract you at least for a little bit.

Gabi: No, no, no, don’t be upset–I’m just trying to stick to the plan.

Jake: Ah, to, uh…take over the world?

Gabi: Damn right. Jake, I hate what your family did to you. Especially because you were doing such a good job. I’m gonna teach them that messing with us was the biggest mistake they could ever make. And when philip is gone, I’m gonna generate so much profit for titan–more than he could ever–when I take over.

Jake: Mmm. When we…take over.

Gabi: Right. Yes, of course, but you have to understand that the keystroke is not the only thing that’s gonna get us in, okay? You need to have a really good follow-up interview with philip, and he needs to hire you.

Jake: Right. I don’t wanna be late, so i better get in the shower.

Gabi: Kay. You know, maybe I can, uh, wash your back?

Jake: Mmm.

Gabi: And then I’m gonna give you some tips guaranteed to land you that job, okay?

Jake: Okay.

Gabi: Go, go.

Jake: Okay, I’m going. Here we go.

Gabi: Right after you.

Jake: Right after? Right before, right after…

Gabi: [Softly] Just go.

Philip: Gabi chic just had its best quarter ever. And gabi has repeatedly said that she thinks we have a terrific working relationship.

Kate: Well, of course she has.

Philip: [Scoffs] What is that supposed to mean?

Kate: What that means is that that is all part of her plan.

Philip: What plan?

Kate: [Sighs] Okay. First she lulls you into a false sense of security. She makes you feel that she’s content being your underling. And then she’s going to convince you that it would be a good idea to hire her boy toy because he would be so useful in helping you accomplish your mutual goals. And then they’re going to tell you that it’s one for all and all for one, and the whole time, they’re going to be working behind your back to bring you down.

Philip: Wow. Paranoid much?

Kate: Ohh, god, philip, you can’t underestimate gabi.

Philip: Don’t underestimate me. Look, I fully admit that when i started this job, I made some very stupid mistakes that put my family and this company at tremendous risk. So I promise you, there is no scenario where dad or I would allow titan to be run by a pair of dimeras.

> Kate: [Sighs] I know how much it means to you that your father gave you a second chance–I do. But you can’t be comfortable in that…because if he is ever convinced that there’s someone else who can do your job better than you do, he’d have you out in a heartbeat.

Philip: Trust me, I will keep my eyes on gabi and jake. But I’m the one using them, remember?

Kate: Okay. All right. So if…if it’s just information that you need about dimera, there’s better ways to get it.

Philip: From where?

Kate: From your girlfriend, chloe.

Brady: Why would philip have a problem with you taking a business trip?

Chloe: Well, as you may know, um, he’s a little bit sensitive about you and i spending time together.

Brady: I haven’t noticed. Of course I noticed–yeah. What’s he whining about now?

Chloe: Well, you remember eric and nicole’s anniversary party.

Brady: Mm. Was that that party where absolutely nothing happened whatsoever? Is that the one?

Chloe: Yeah, that’s the one. When you went after xander, i insisted on following you to make sure that things didn’t get ugly, and…

Brady: Mm-hmm.

Chloe: I left philip hanging at the pub by himself, and, you know, he just got worried about what you and I might do together alone.

Brady: Well, that would be philip’s problem…not ours. Your mission:

Philip: Pump chloe for information on dimera. I’d never use her like that. And she’d never betray nicole.

Kate: Ohh…well, then, just turn on the philip charm, and I’m sure she’ll tell you everything.

Philip: It’s not happening, mom–did I not just tell you that? Although…

Kate: Although…what?

Philip: It’s just… I did try to get chloe to jump ship…because I thought she would be an asset to titan. But she turned me down.

Kate: Okay. But did you really think she would be an asset to titan, or did you just wanna get her away from brady?

Philip: [Huffs] I lost her to brady once–I’m not gonna lose her again. And she assured me that I’m the one she wants to be with.

Kate: [Laughs] Well, jake assured me of the same thing, and look how that turned out.

Nicole: Forgive me, but I’M…I’m a little confused about your lack of understanding.

Roman: Why’s that?

Nicole: Well, I-I remember you telling me that it was wrong of eric to leave me alone for so long and that if he wasn’t careful, he could drive me into someone else’s arms.

Roman: Yeah, I did say that and, uh, eric shouldn’t have stayed away as long as he did. And I did feel that if another man came along–good man–and pursued you during that time that you were very lonely, that yeah, yeah, I could understand that you would be vulnerable. But we both know that is a far cry from what happened between you and xander.

Nicole: Of course. I’m sorry.

Roman: Yeah, well, I’m not the person you need to apologize to–you should have come clean with eric right away. If you had been honest from the very beginning, you could have spared all of us a lot of pain.

Rafe: I can’t believe you just said that.

Ava: Sorry. Just slipped out.

Rafe: Well, yeah, because you keep twisting everything that i say. When I said I’d wished I’d answered nicole’s call, it was so that she didn’t end up with xander.

Ava: If you had answered nicole’s call that night, you would have bailed on our date and very possibly would have ended up in bed with her.

Rafe: No, you know what, actually, I wouldn’t have. It never would have happened, because I am involved with you.

Ava: Never say never.

Rafe: Okay. You know, we have been over this–we have been over this so many damn times, and I have told you that I do not have feelings for nicole.

Ava: Yeah, and I didn’t believe you then either.

Rafe: Yeah? Okay. So obviously, we have a big problem.

Ava: Look… maybe it was wrong for me to suggest that you would have slept with nicole while she was still married.

Rafe: Mm-hmm.

Ava: Her marriage is over, kay? So now I think it’s important that you are just honest with me and yourself about who you really wanna be with.

Rafe: [Softly] Okay. For the umpteenth time, I do not have feelings for nicole. She is my friend.

Ava: The friend you dream about. The friend you drop everything for at a moment’s notice. The friend who always seems to be on your mind. It’s obvious you care very deeply for her.

Rafe: Mm-hmm. Yeah, I do. But that does not mean that i have the desire–

Ava: Oh, my god, stop, rafe! The hell you don’t! Will you just admit that you wanna sleep with nicole? We women are in the know about everything.

Gabi: Oh, I’m sorry. Looks like we interrupted a very personal conversation.

Rafe: It’s nothin’.

Gabi: Doesn’t sound like nothing–sounds like your girlfriend here thinks you wanna sleep with nicole. Did I get that right, ava?

Jake: So did we miss breakfast, or–

Both: Yes.

Gabi: Well, that’s a shame, because jake here has a very important business meeting, and he needs all his energy, so why don’t we sit down–

Jake: No, you know what, gabi, these’ll do, all right? And, uh, let’s go! I don’t like that kind.

Gabi: My apologies again for interrupting your chat, but i did try to warn you.

Rafe: So what exactly did she warn you about?

Ava: Your feelings for nicole.

Nicole: I tried to come clean with eric. I…I even wrote him an email confessing everything I did. But I just…I couldn’t bring myself to send it to him.

Roman: Damn it. God, I wish you had, nicole. If you had, you could have taken care of this in private. Eric wouldn’t have been humiliated in front of everybody he knows.

Nicole: The regret I feel over hurting him–it is killing me. And I hate myself for what i did, but there’s nothing I can do to change it.

Roman: No, there isn’T.

Nicole: Roman, before eric left, we did talk. And we had it out, and he acknowledged, just as you have, that it was wrong of him to put our life on hold.

Roman: So you do blame him.

Nicole: No, no! Never! I would never… but as far as our marriage falling apart… eric and I realized that it was inevitable. As much as we love each other, we’re just different people. People who… people who are better off apart.

[Sniffles]

Roman: You know what, nicole? That is a nice, nice little story. But you don’t get to put a nice little ribbon on this.

Nicole: I just wanted you to know that… we’ve parted peacefully.

Roman: Yeah, well, like i say, he’s a good man, very kind, very forgiving. But make no mistake–and I know this from first-hand experience– he will live with that pain, the pain you caused, because, uh…you need to know this, nicole. He never loved anyone… never loved anyone the way he loved you. So no matter what those parting words were that he said, truth is, he’ll never be the same. And there will be many, many moments in the coming years where he will think of you and that pain will still be there. That hurt will still be there. And he’ll say to himself, “damn. Maybe I just wasn’t good enough for her.”

Nicole: Once again, you’re right. I’m a terrible, terrible person. And I destroyed eric and i destroyed our marriage, and i deserve to live in misery for the rest of my life.

Philip: I’m sorry you were hurt…but you have to stop comparing my relationship with chloe with what happened between you and jake.

Kate: You’re my son. I’m never going to stop trying to protect you.

Philip: But I don’t need protection from chloe.

Kate: [Scoffs] She has hurt you so many times, and I am not gonna let that happen again.

Philip: Ah, here we go.

Kate: Really, what do you think–do you think that her feelings for brady are just going to magically disappear? They work with each other every single day.

Philip: But she comes home to me at night. And it’s great! We talk, we laugh. I can feel our connection getting deeper every day. It’s only a matter of time before she is really truly mine.

Kate: Okay. Whatever you say. Just don’t forget what I said about jake. If you hire him, you’ll regret it. I love you, philip.

Philip: I love you, too.

Kate: But I’m just looking out for you–you know that, right?

Philip: Yeah…I do.

Kate: Hm.

Chloe: Philip and I are in a relationship, and I need to take his feelings into account.

Brady: His pathetic, infantile feelings.

Chloe: Is it really pathetic and infantile to expect some respect and courtesy from the person you’re dating?

Brady: [Sighs] Since when is it discourteous and disrespectful to go on a business trip with your boss?

Chloe: Um, how about I go with nicole? She knows the client, right?

Brady: Chloe, she knows the client, but she doesn’t deal with him directly, and he’s expecting to see me.

Chloe: Okay, well, here’s another idea. You go with nicole.

Brady: Okay. Why are you fighting me on this? I thought you’d jump at the chance to see your family, i really did.

Chloe: Um, I guess I’m just kinda confused–at first you say it’s about business, but then you’re saying I can see my family, so…what difference does it make who goes if we make the meeting, unless…

Brady: Unless… unless what? Finish the sentence, please.

Chloe: Unless the reason you want me to go with you is because you want to spend some time with me…alone. Is that it? People everywhere living with type 2 diabetes

Brady: Why would I need to be alone with you? I’m alone with you all the time here at the office.

Chloe: Yeah, but this is work, and we’re surrounded by staff. An overnight trip to new york is kind of a different thing.

[Sighs]

[Phone rings]

Brady: Hey.

Nicole: Hey, brady, listen, I’m not gonna come into the office today. I-I’m really sorry.

Brady: Uh, no, that’s okay. That’s okay, nic, um…chloe and I got you covered.

Nicole: Thank you.

Brady: Sure. I-is…is there anything we can do to help?

Nicole: That’s really sweet of you, brady, but, um, i just…I really need some space right now, and actually, I think I’m gonna take the rest of the week off.

Brady: No, of course. And, uh, hey, I’m here if you need me. You know that, right?

Nicole: I do, brady. Thank you. Bye.

Gabi: Nicole. You okay?

Nicole: Um… no. And I’m not sure I ever will be.

Gabi: I’m sorry–I heard about what happened at your anniversary party.

Nicole: I’m the one who should be sorry. Because roman made it very clear that I am… the one who brought this hell on to myself and eric.

Gabi: I like roman, he’s family, but he can be a little judgey.

Nicole: But still, he thinks I’m a monster. And I’m sure the rest of this town does too.

Gabi: No, not everyone. Definitely not rafe.

Rafe: Since when do you listen to anything that gabi has to say?

Ava: Normally, I don’T. God knows she’s been nothing but hostile to me ever since I moved in here. But the other day, when she kept insisting that you had feelings for nicole, I kept saying what you keep saying… which is that you are just friends.

Rafe: Which is the truth.

Ava: Is it? Because your sister, who knows you better than anyone, seems to think that the only reason that you and nicole have not been romantic with each other is because she was married.

Rafe: [Small laugh]

Ava: She’s single now. So gabi thinks that maybe… maybe the two of you might decide to take it to the next level.

Rafe: That’s just gabi being gabi. And she’s playing mind games with you. I…can’t believe you fell for it.

Ava: So…hmph. Now I’m clueless and gullible.

[Door opens]

Jake: I can wait outside if you’re busy–your assistant told me to come in.

Philip: No, no, come in. Have a seat. I need to make a decision today about hiring you, so I thought we’d have a follow-up conversation.

Jake: All right, well, my sense is that the first round went pretty well, but I’m happy to clear up any questions or concerns you might have.

Philip: Only one. My mother was just here trying very hard to persuade me not to hire you.

Jake: Ah. For…very personal reasons, obviously.

Philip: Yes, but she has a valid point. She suggested that you were a trojan horse. In “the odyssey,” greek soldiers?

Jake: Yeah, I know what a trojan horse is.

Philip: Yeah, my mother thinks that gabi wants to get you in the door so that you two can team up and take me down. Is she right about that? Alice loves the scent of gain so much,

she wished there was a way to

make it last longer.

Jake: All due respect for your mom, I think she’s reaching. I hurt her, and now she’s trying to hurt me back as much as she can.

Philip: I agree that her perspective is clouded by your breakup. However, she is a very savvy businesswoman, so I can’t just dismiss her theory.

Jake: Fair enough. But I think there’s another reason kate doesn’t want me working here.

Philip: What is that?

Jake: Everything I know about the corporate world kate taught me. Turns out, I’m a much better student than she was anticipating.

Chloe: Maybe I should go find her.

Brady: No, wait, she said she wanted some space, and we should respect that. Course, that also means there’s no way she’s gonna be able to make that trip to new york.

Chloe: So now what?

Brady: I think you know what. There’s really no choice. You and I are gonna have to go together.

Nicole: Rafe is a wonderful friend, and he seems to always find a way to be there for me when I need him.

Gabi: I know what you mean.

Nicole: You know, the other night when he came over, I… I was a mess. And he was so understanding and supportive.

Gabi: Nicole, you know he hates seeing you in pain.

Nicole: Yeah. You know, after we talked, I-i told him he should go and he doesn’t need me blubbering all over him, but he stayed and he made me his macaroni and cheese.

Gabi: Oh, his signature dish.

Nicole: Yeah. He was very kind to stay and share his famous dish with me. But, um, you know, he could have been home, enjoying a wonderful meal that ava makes him. And I felt really guilty.

Gabi: Trust me, nicole, if my brother stayed with you, it’s because he wanted to.

Nicole: Well, like I said, he’s a wonderful friend, but he has his own life, and I’m not gonna get in the way of that.

Gabi: No, please. My brother lives to take care of the people he cares about. You know, I just left him right now at home, and I bet you are still on his mind. Actually, I feel like he–he would be really grateful if you went over there and leaned on him right now.

Nicole: Oh, I-I-I don’t know.

Gabi: Of course, yeah, you know what, it would save him a trip of coming to find you.

Nicole: O-okay, I mean, if you really think so.

Gabi: Of course I think so. Girl, get moving, yeah!

[Both chuckle]

Nicole: Thanks. Thanks, gabi.

Gabi: Yeah! Sure.

Rafe: I never said you were gullible. I just said you shouldn’t listen to a word that my sister says. She doesn’t like you, so she’s messing with you, ava.

Ava: Okay. I don’t like her either. She’s been trying everything she can to get me outta here since i moved in here. But maybe she’s speaking the truth.

Rafe: Ava.

Ava: Rafe, I have been watching… you and nicole for months. And it has been there the entire time… in the looks that you two share, in the moments that I have walked in on you. The other day when I showed up at nicole’s place, I was standing there in the doorway. I was watching you hold her in your arms, and you didn’t know that I was there.

Rafe: I was comforting her!

Ava: I am not questioning your character, rafe. You are the most honorable man that I have ever known. But because of that, you feel like you need to be obligated to stay with me.

Rafe: That is not true–

Ava: No, and it’s–

Rafe: For the last time, it is not true.

Ava: Okay. You can continue to say that, rafe, you can continue to deny it–you can tell me that I’m crazy and that gabi’s just yanking my chain, okay? But it’s not doing either of us any favors for you to continue to deny how you feel about nicole! Excuse me.

Rafe: Wh– I’ve lost count of how many asthma attacks I’ve had.

Philip: I like your confidence, jake. But in my position, I can’t be too careful. I worked very hard to regain my father’s trust. So I can’t hire someone who plans to undermine me.

Jake: Hmm. What does your gut tell ya?

Philip: I was inclined to… give you a shot. But then my mom stopped by, so…

Jake: And raked me over the coals. I get it. Look, man, I appreciate your consideration, I really do, but if you are gonna put my stock in your mother’s opinions than your own instincts, we got nothin’ further to talk about. Thank you very much for your time.

[Uneasy music]

Brady: So I will tell the pilot that we’re on our way.

Chloe: Oh, hang on, uh, you didn’t answer my question. Why do you really wanna take this trip with me?

Gabi: I guess breakfast at home wasn’t very satisfying.

Ava: Go away.

Gabi: I get the funny feeling that’s exactly what my brother wants you to do, now that nicole’s oh so available.

Gwen: Do you always get this dressed up to answer the door?

Xander: I was just about to have a shower. What can I do for you?

Gwen: I came– I came to say I’m sorry.

Olivia: Oh, it is so good to finally meet you, eli, and to see your precious babies in person.

Eli: This is for you.

Olivia: Good manners and handsome. You got the total package here, lani.

Lani: Aunt paulina said the same thing when she first met him, although she used more colorful terms.

Olivia: Oh, what did she say?

Eli: We won’t get into that.

Olivia: Oh, tell me what my daughter called you.

Lani: Tell her.

Eli: She said something like I look like a tall glass of chocolate milk.

Olivia: She can’t help herself. Paulina has never met a line she wouldn’t cross.

Abe: Alice and tom’s plaque.

Paulina: Back in its rightful place. Julie was just here checking it out.

Abe: Oh, so how’d that go?

Paulina: Pretty well, actually. It seems fitting that this is the place where we buried the hatchet. We agreed to start over with a clean slate.

Abe: Lani tells me that you and she did the same.

Paulina: Oh, I’m so grateful for that. So, abraham, what about us?

Tripp: Allie, there’s something I want to tell you.

Allie: What?

Tripp: I– I love you. Allie?

Allie: I, um– I don’t know what to say.

Johnny: So you think I’m cute?

Chanel: That answer your question?

Johnny: I did not see that one coming, but I’m glad that it did.

Chanel: Me too. Although now I feel like everybody’s looking at us.

Johnny: Yeah. Maybe we should go someplace a little more private?

Tripp: I didn’t mean to put you on the spot. You don’t have to say it back, just because I did.

Allie: Tripp–

Tripp: No really. It’s okay. It felt right, in the moment, but if you don’t feel the same way–

Allie: I care about you a lot. I just– I don’t know if I’m ready to say those words yet. I’m sorry.

Tripp: You have nothing to be sorry about okay. I don’t want you to force anything. And you know what? We don’t have to talk about it anymore. Let’s just forget it ever happened.

Allie: No. Wait. I want you to understand why I didn’t say that.

Johnny: I’m sorry. Did I just push that too far? I just–the kiss was so great that I was hoping it wouldn’t be the last one. But if you’re not comfortable, we don’t–

Chanel: I’m not uncomfortable. I don’t get uncomfortable.

Johnny: So–

Chanel: So let’s do it.

Johnny: Yeah?

Chanel: Well, I’m staying with my mom, and my grandmother’s in from out of town.

Gwen: So are you gonna put on a shirt?

Xander: Before I take a shower? That’s a bit silly, no?

Gwen: Yeah. There’s no complaints by me. Sorry.

Xander: Just what exactly are you sorry for?

Gwen: I just heard that you spent the night in jail.

Xander: It’s not my first.

Gwen: Still, that couldn’t have been pleasant.

Xander: Well, it goes with the territory, you know. I couldn’t exactly wriggle out of the charges, after I confessed to jack.

Gwen: Yeah. You didn’t have to do that, xander.

Xander: Well, I kind of did. Jack was on the brink of discovering that you lied about your miscarriage.

Gwen: Yeah. A few moments more, and i probably would have come clean.

Xander: But then you would have lost your father, after you spent your whole life without him. All I lost was one night.

Gwen: Yes, but you could still go to prison, xander. I can’t let you do that. Not for protecting me.

Xander: It’s all right, gwen.

Gwen: No, no. It’s not actually. I should–no. I should go to the police, and I should tell them the truth. My nunormal?

Xander: Gwen, you don’t have to confess. I’m not going to prison.

Gwen: How do you know that?

Xander: Ej dimera agreed to represent me.

Gwen: Ej?

Xander: I mean you do know him, right? I mean, I assume you do, given your history with the family.

Gwen: I know him by reputation, yes. I haven’t actually met him.

Xander: Well, let me tell you he is beyond capable and utterly ruthless. He already got me released on bail, and I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before he makes all the charges go away.

Gwen: Are you sure?

Xander: Well, he better, ’cause I just spent $1 million to retain him.

Paulina: I know how badly I hurt you, abe, and I’d love the chance to make it up to you, if you’ll let me.

Abe: I was encouraging lani to forgive you, and I would be a hypocrite not to try.

Paulina: Really? So you think we can start over too?

Abe: Well, I’m not saying that it would be easy, but… I would like to try.

Paulina: Oh, you don’t know how much this means to me.

Abe: You know… I tried so hard to be mad at you. Stay mad at you. But I can’t deny how I feel when I’m around you. It’ll be such a relief to– be such a relief to get past the secrets and the lies.

Paulina: It will.

Abe: You don’t look relieved.

Olivia: Those are the most gorgeous babies I’ve ever seen since–well, since you were born, lani, and of course chanel.

Eli: Well, I can imagine lani being a beautiful baby, but she’s also a wonderful mother, as well.

Olivia: Amen, and I’m so sorry I wasn’t here for the wedding or the christening.

Lani: That’s okay, big mama.

Eli: Yeah. We knew you weren’t well enough to travel.

Lani: And we’re just really happy that you’re all better.

Olivia: It’s a true blessing.

Lani: You know, big mama, you said that you came to salem to get a couple things straight with aunt paulina, but you didn’t say what they were.

Olivia: [Laughs] If you think you’re gonna tell that child you’re her mother, you got another thing coming, hear?

Lani: So what was it about?

Allie: The truth is I’ve never said “I love you” to anyone I’ve been with before, so it’s kind of a big deal.

Tripp: Of course it is.

Allie: Have you said it to someone else?

Tripp: I have. It’s always a major step. You’ve never had a serious boyfriend?

Allie: I dated a couple guys in europe, but nothing like this. I love being with you so much, but I just feel–I don’t know. Maybe I’m scared of saying something too soon, or maybe it’s from all of the trauma that I went through last year, or–I don’t know. I’m just not ready. Does that make sense? And I know that I’m way in my head right now, and I’m talking too much. Way too much, but I just don’t want to hurt you. But I have hurt you, haven’t I?

 

Olivia: Well, I’ll give it to you straight, child. When I found out paulina was seeing your father, I thought it was a very bad idea. I mean, there’s a world full of men out there, and she chooses her sister’s ex. The father of her child.

Lani: Dad and aunt paulina had a connection right away.

Olivia: Connection, fine. But the bible says thou shall not uncover the nakedness of your brother’s wife.

Lani: Big mama.

Olivia: Well, you know what I’m saying. It’s wrong.

Eli: Lani wasn’t sure at first either.

Lani: Look, yes. I was–at first, I was weirded out by it for a minute, and then I got over it. Big mama, mom and dad were never married, and they were done a long time ago.

Olivia: But there still can be feelings.

Lani: Mom doesn’t seem worried about it, so why are you?

Olivia: Well, I guess I’m just old-fashioned.

Abe: So what’s wrong, paulina?

Paulina: Uh–uh– I was just thinking.

Abe: About what?

Paulina: Well, hopefully thinking that you were thinking the same thing. That the only thing good about breaking up is getting back together.

Abe: You don’t waste any time, do you?

Paulina: Life is short, abraham.

Abe: You don’t have to tell me that.

Paulina: Well, I would invite you over to my apartment, but my mama’s there.

Abe: Lani told me that she and eli are taking the kids over to see her.

Paulina: Right, right, so what do you say we just head on over to your place?

Abe: Well, you know, that is very tempting, but I wouldn’t mind meeting the famous big mama. I’ve heard so much about her.

Paulina: Oh, I don’t know, abe.

Abe: You don’t want me to see her?

Paulina: No, no, no. Of course not. It’s just she’s a handful, and she is just so full of opinions about you, and me, and–

Abe: Tamara.

Paulina: Yes.

Abe: Well, you know, I am not afraid of big mama’s opinions. I just want her to know how much her daughter means to me. You know, we just have to be open to the whole family, if we’re gonna have a chance to make this work.

Paulina: You always know just what to say, don’t you?

Abe: Well, then shall we go see big mama?

Paulina: I can’t think of a reason why not.

Abe: Let’s do it.

Tripp: Really, allie, it’s okay.

Allie: Are you sure?

Tripp: As long as we’re together, and as long as this relationship is moving in the right direction, I’m cool.

Allie: Okay.

Tripp: And you don’t ever have to explain yourself to me.

[Beeping] Oh, that’s me. Oh, great.

Allie: Everything okay?

Tripp: It’s from kayla. I have to get back to the hospital.

Allie: But I thought you had the rest of the night off?

Tripp: I thought so, too, but, you know, that’s the life of a med student. I’d better get dressed.

Allie: [Sighs] Ugh!

Chanel: You said your family had a big house. You didn’t say it was a mansion.

Johnny: Yeah. Room’s this way.

Chanel: Do we need a map to get there?

Johnny: No, I think i remember the way.

Chanel: Can’t wait to see it.

[Door opens] Oh, wait. We can’t do this. Still fresh

Johnny: I’m so sorry. I thought you wanted this.

Chanel: No, no. I do. It’s just– do you have protection?

Johnny: Oh, yeah. Yeah sure. Just hang on. I know I’ve got something. I could have sworn–okay. I’m gonna run to the pharmacy. Just make yourself comfortable. Get relaxed. I’ll be back 20 minutes tops, okay?

Chanel: Wait. Hang on.

Johnny: No. It’s okay. Nobody’s gonna bother you up here.

Chanel: No, no. It’s just, you know, maybe it’s a good thing this happened. You know, maybe we should just hang out for a while.

Johnny: Hang out.

Chanel: Yeah. Maybe I was rushing things, and not for the right reasons.

Johnny: I get it.

Chanel: You do?

Johnny: Yeah. It’s because of that girl you were telling me about earlier, huh?

Allie: Thank you for watching henry.

Marlena: Oh, please don’t thank me. It was my pleasure. I adore being with him.

Allie: Where is he?

Marlena: Oh, he’s in the other room with john they’re playing with building blocks, they made quite an amazing structure. I’ll get him for you.

Allie: Oh, before you go, can we talk?

Marlena: Oh, of course. Sit. Okay. What’s going on?

Allie: It’s tripp.

Marlena: Is there a problem?

Allie: No. No. Actually, he’s great. He just told me he loves me.

Marlena: Oh. And it upset you?

Allie: It upset me, because I couldn’t say it back to him.

[Knocking]

Kayla: Yeah. Hey. You’re not supposed to be on shift tonight.

Tripp: If anyone asks, you called me in.

Kayla: Can I at least know why I’m being used as the excuse?

Tripp: I kind of told allie that I had to go back to the hospital.

Kayla: Why’d you do that?

Tripp: Well, things have been going really well with us, and we had a great day together, so I decided to go for it.

Kayla: Go for what?

Tripp: I told her that I loved her, and she didn’t say it back.

Kayla: Oh.

Tripp: What the hell was I thinking? I mean you never say it unless you’re sure the other person is ready, and now, I may have ruined everything.

[Laughter]

Abe: Well, hello everyone.

Lani: Dad?

Abe: Hello, eli, and hello, lani. Hello, jules. Hello, carver, and hello, mrs. Price.

Paulina: Mama, I’d like you to meet–

Olivia: No introduction necessary. Tamara showed me his picture a long time ago. I’d know you anywhere.

Abe: Mama price, it’s lovely to meet you.

Olivia: Call me olivia.

Abe: Olivia. Well, I’m very glad to have you here in salem. I’ve heard so much about you.

Olivia: I’m sure you have.

Abe: Yes. I assume you know that I have a history with your other daughter.

Olivia: History? That’s one way of putting it.

Abe: Well, tamara and i were together many years ago, and we share our lovely daughter, but I do want you to know how very much I care for paulina.

Olivia: I thought you two had broken up?

Abe: Well, we just got back together, mama.

Lani: You did?

Abe: We did.

Eli: Congratulations.

Paulina: Thanks.

Eli: That’s great, right?

Olivia: Y’all okay with this?

Lani: I mean, big mama, if they want to be together.

Olivia: Well, if you ask me, it’s a terrible mistake, and paulina knows why.

Lani: Why, auntie p?

Paulina: Well–

Abe: I assume this is about the lies that paulina told us.

Olivia: Lies?

Abe: About price town.

Olivia: Oh, that.

Abe: I can assure you that I have forgiven paulina about everything, and we’ve agreed to start fresh.

Paulina: That’s right. We’re all good, mama, so you can pipe down. Give us your blessing.

Gwen: For you to give up $1 million, just to protect me– honestly, I don’t know what to say.

Xander: But you don’t have to feel guilty, gwen. You didn’t ask me to be the fall guy.

Gwen: Yeah, but you needed that money.

Xander: Yeah. It’s not like I worked very hard for it. Anyway, in my experience, there’s always another opportunity around the corner.

Gwen: You know, I know a thing or two about you by now, xander. You really struggled to gain respect.

Xander: Money and respect aren’t the same thing.

Gwen: Oh, really? Since when?

Xander: Maybe I am growing as a person.

Gwen: I really don’t know how to thank you. No one’s ever done something so selfless for me before.

Xander: Well, I don’t think I’ve ever done anything so selfless for someone before, so maybe we’re both just exploring new territory.

Gwen: But you did all this for me?

Xander: I suppose I did.

Gwen: Thank you, xander. Thank you.

Xander: You’re very welcome. Feeling stressed in your skin?

Gwen: That is for helping with snyder’s body.

Xander: Even though it turned up where I left him?

Gwen: And that is for keeping my secret. That is for spending the night in jail. And this– this is for the $1 million.

Tripp: After everything that allie’s been through, the last thing she needed was somebody pressuring her.

Kayla: Tripp, you weren’t pressuring her. You were just being honest about your feelings.

Tripp: Yeah, but I put her in such an awkward position.

Kayla: Did she say that?

Tripp: No. She said it was fine, but I mean she got all nervous and over-explaining. I could tell she was uncomfortable.

Kayla: Well, I’m sure she didn’t want to hurt your feelings. Look, you said yourself that she’s been through a lot this year. She probably just needs time.

Tripp: What if she takes time and realizes that she’ll never love me back?

Marlena: You care for tripp.

Allie: Very much. He’s the best guy I’ve ever been with. We have fun together. We have great talks. He’s so good with henry.

Marlena: And you weren’t having any problems before he said he loved you?

Allie: I just heard those three words and froze.

Marlena: But you weren’t having any doubts before that?

Allie: Well, I did have a dream this morning that shook me a bit.

Marlena: What kind of dream?

Allie: I was in bed with tripp, but chanel was there too.

Chanel: Do you always try to analyze the girls you want to sleep with?

Johnny: Look, you wanted to talk. Now, we’re talking, and I can’t help but wonder if maybe the reason that you kissed me–maybe the reason that we are here, in my bedroom is the same reason you pulled back. You’re not over this girl.

Chanel: So you’re saying that I’m using you to get her out of my system?

Johnny: Are you? My plaque psoriasis…

Kayla: Look, when it comes to trauma recovery is rarely a straight line. But the fact that allie can have a healthy relationship and get close to you–I mean that’s a huge step. And it’s a testament to how supportive and patient you’ve been, but triggers can happen at any time, and I know that from experience.

Tripp: What if it isn’t about the trauma? What if it has nothing to do with charlie?

Kayla: Are you afraid that her feelings for you are not as strong as your feelings are for her?

Tripp: And I’m afraid that it might be because of someone else.

Johnny: Is it about the girl?

Chanel: No. And yes. Maybe I was trying to prove something to myself, but I really do like you, too.

Johnny: I’m glad to hear that.

Chanel: It’s just I need to accept that she’s with somebody else, and so I have no choice but to get over her.

Johnny: Well, if I can ever help you with that, now you know where to find me.

Chanel: Thanks.

Johnny: Yeah.

Chanel: Well, I should really go. My grandma’s in town, and I gotta catch her before she heads back to florida.

Johnny: Well, okay. Goodnight. Oh.

Abe: Oh, I can’t wait to see ’em.

Lani: Well, carver is getting a little fussy here. Oh, and there goes jules.

Eli: Yeah. Well, I think we’re about five minutes away from a double meltdown.

Lani: Okay. I really want to do this, but I think we should pass on dinner and head home. They didn’t get much sleep today.

Paulina: Well, you sure you can’t just put ’em down here?

Eli: That sounds like a recipe for dinner and disaster.

Olivia: We understand. You get those angels home. It was good to meet you, eli.

Eli: It’s nice to meet you, as well, and please come back to see us soon.

Olivia: That’s a promise.

Lani: Oh, big mama, it was so good to see you.

Olivia: It’s always good to see you, baby. Your babies are a true miracle. I’m so proud of you, lani.

Abe: Oh, that’s a nice invitation, you know, but I think I should let the two of you have some mother and daughter time.

Paulina: You sure?

Abe: Yeah. I mean we have all the time in the world, and mama. Mama price, it was so wonderful to meet you at last.

Olivia: I’m sure it was.

Abe: Well, see you tomorrow.

Paulina: Mm-hmm. You just try and stay away from me.

Abe: Ooh.

Paulina: [Chuckles] Get that damn frown off your face.

Allie: Chanel’s the girl that I told you about.

Marlena: Yes. Yes. Paulina’s daughter. The one who kissed you.

Allie: Yeah. And it’s not just the dream that’s making me wonder.

Marlena: Okay. What else is making you wonder?

Allie: Chanel met this guy, and she likes him, and I just felt this little stab of jealousy. And then tripp and I almost walked in on her date with him, and I just kind of panicked and made tripp leave. And I’m not exactly sure why.

Marlena: Well, maybe you didn’t want to see her with somebody else?

Allie: Maybe. But if I still have feelings for her, I want to get past them.

Marlena: Because you want to be with tripp.

Allie: Yes. And I want to be able to say that I love him back. In a perfect world, you know, chanel is in love with this new guy, and I’m in love with tripp, and I–everyone’s just happy.

Marlena: Well, sometimes things aren’t that neat and tidy, you know, because feelings are messy, and…

Allie: Yeah.

Marlena: Telling somebody that you love them–just those three words–they’re very powerful. And you shouldn’t rush into that, especially if you’re–well, if you’re confused about it. I think you should sort out your feelings before you move forward with tripp.

Allie: Yeah. You’re right. Thank you for letting me talk to you about this.

Marlena: Of course. Always, always, always. I’m always here for you, oh, darling.

Allie: I love you.

Kayla: When you say there’s someone else you mean allie’s friend who she had a thing for?

Tripp: Yeah.

Kayla: But you said you thought that she had put those feelings aside?

Tripp: She said I’m the only one she wants to be with.

Kayla: But you’re doubting her.

Tripp: I shouldn’T. I mean, we’ve been spending so much time together, and she’s never given me a reason to question her, but–

Kayla: But what?

Tripp: I would never say this to allie, but I can’t help wondering that what if she hasn’t really put those feelings aside completely? Maybe that’s why she couldn’t bring herself to say she loves me.

[Cell phone rings]

Allie: Hey.

Chanel: Hey, horton. I just wanted to let you know I went by the bank with my mom, and we signed all the rest of the paperwork for the bakery.

Allie: So we’re all set with sweet bits?

Chanel: Yep. All good.

Allie: That’s awesome. You must be so excited.

Chanel: Yeah. It’s been a good day. I even ran into that guy again.

Allie: Thirst trap?

Chanel: Yep. Yeah. We went for a drink at julie’s place.

Allie: I know.

Chanel: You do?

Allie: Tripp and i were there. We ran into your mom outside.

Chanel: Oh, well, why didn’t you guys come in? I could have introduced you.

Allie: We didn’t want to get in the way. Did you have fun?

Chanel: Yeah, yeah. It was cool. He’s a lot of fun.

Allie: I’m happy for you.

Chanel: Thanks. I–I gotta go head home. I want to say goodbye to big mama before she leaves. Love you.

Allie: Love you too.

[Cell phone beeps]

Eli: Your grandmother is a trip.

Lani: It’s easy to see where my aunt paulina gets it from.

Eli: Yes it is.

Lani: It was nice having the family all together today, wasn’t it?

Eli: Mm-hmm, but it seems like every time someone arrives, someone leaves.

Lani: I know my dad is really going to miss theo, but I am happy that him and paulina are back together, because I hated the thought of him being lonely.

Eli: I knew they’d work it out. I’m just surprised that you came around, but I’m glad that you did.

Lani: Yeah. Me too, and I’m so happy that we finally have all the lies and the secretes behind us.

Eli: Mm-hmm.

Paulina: Abe said he wanted to give us some alone time, but I think he was just done dealing with your nonsense.

Olivia: My nonsense?

Paulina: You were positively rude to him, mama.

Olivia: Well, I’m sorry. Unlike most people, I can’t hide my true feelings.

Paulina: Well, this isn’t about you.

Olivia: It’s about my family. I’m sorry, paulina, but you’re playing with fire.

Paulina: Well, that’s none of your concern. Now, if I want to be with abe, you can’t stop me.

Olivia: Maybe I can’t, but you’re fooling yourself, if you think you can ever tell him the truth. Because if lani finds out the truth, she’ll never forgive you, and neither will abe. You just got him back, but if he finds out the truth, he’ll kick your behind to the curb so fast.

Paulina: Yeah. I hear you, mama. I hear you.

Olivia: Do you?

Paulina: Yes, yes, and you’re right, you’re right.

Olivia: Promise me.

Paulina: There’s nothing more I’d like than to tell my beautiful daughter that I’m her mama, but I know. I know, if I told her, that she and abe, they’ll never forgive me for lying all these years. So if I want her and abe both in my life, I’ll just have to take my secret to the grave.
