Cody bell. I’m here for some test results. No problem. Was it blood work? Paternity test. One sec. Thanks. Glad you’re back. Yeah. I hope you got what you needed while you were away. May I? Yeah. Finn, I, um… there was no medical conference. I went to monterey. I wanted to get answers about what’s been going on with me. And I saw my parents. I don’t understand. Why am I here? [ Clears throat ] Well, I’M… I’m in my second trimester now. The risks to my baby are much lower. I am ready to start chemo at any time. What? What, did I wait too long? Will I die before my baby can be born?

I found you two bothering my family. We were taking a nice walk in the park, michael. Wiley and willow just happened to be there, so what’s the — you should have kept on walking. Oh, my goodness. Instead you tried to maneuver willow into letting nina spend time with wiley. Oh, that’s ridiculous. Sonny would never do that. You have no idea what sonny would do. Look, nina was denied visitation with wiley. I’m well aware of that. We’re not gonna go against your wishes when it comes to wiley, michael.

[ Cellphone beeps ] I gotta take care of this. Oh, is it an assassination or plain old racketeering? Why? You wearing a wire? You know what? You all right? Yeah, no, no. I’m fine. All right. You know, michael, I don’t expect you to be civil to me. But you should show your father more respect. Is my leukemia so advanced that I won’t live to have this child? That is not my prognosis. Remission is still within reach in stage iv. We just have to work more aggressively combining chemo with other treatments. How will this affect my baby? A real nurse will be by here in a minute to take care of that. I talked finn into ordering a legitimate phlebotomy treatment. That way, the pcpd would be forced to bring you here before taking you to pentonville. That’s brilliant. What’s the plan to get me out of here then? Your dear uncle victor was using charlotte as leverage. She was practically being held prisoner in that boarding school. Kevin and I had to help valentin to break her out. Is charlotte all right? Yes, she’s fine. She’s thrilled to be home, and she is determined not to have anything to do with victor again. I know. Uncle victor has his own agenda. Yes, he does. And he doesn’t care who he uses or destroys to get it done. I mean, look at poor anna. She went up against victor, and now she’s been framed for the possible murder of lucy coe. It’s time to begin chemo as soon as possible. And bone marrow transplants have been very successful in treating leukemia. Survival rates have increased significantly in the past few years alone. But that also depends on what kind of transplant I get. It does. In your case, you’ll need an allogeneic transplant, which requires healthy blood cells from a donor. But will that work if the donor isn’t related to me? A related matched donor usually provides the closest match, but unrelated matched donors work, too. I hope that’s true because to the best of my knowledge, I have no living relatives. Michael, sonny loves you. Why can’t you see that? Sonny abandoned his family. How can I respect a man like that? I found a description of a necklace that matches the one that you have in your possession in a profile piece on taub and his collection. And according to the article, taub allowed the necklace to be worn on the runway during paris fashion week in 1989. It just hasn’t been seen in public since. Well, I know taub and faison were working together around that time. Any chance taub could have sold it to my father? I couldn’t find any record of the necklace changing hands. And then taub died. Dominique auctioned off his collection, but the necklace wasn’t included in that. So dominique either took it, or faison bought it from taub before he died. Or, more likely, my father stole it.

And it’s important to match my donors and my hla so my body won’t reject the healthy blood cells. Right. [ Scoffs ] Look, I know willow. She would not do this to me. Oh, why not? She did it to chase. This is just about revenge. You’re just making up lies. None of us want this to be true, michael. That’s what you overheard your father saying. He didn’t want to tell you anything. Right, so you just let it slip, huh? Open your eyes, sonny. Just see — see nina for who she really is. She enjoys hurting people who are stupid enough to believe her. So I-I’m telling you this for what I-I hope is the last time — nina is poison. So I told them what I had been remembering about the stairs and struggling with the woman and her falling and… did they know what you were talking about? They did. Yeah. When I was 15, I found my father with another woman. Another doctor. The woman you told to stay away from him? Yes. And this woman… this doctor, we argued. And it just — it happened really fast. And then she fell. I didn’t — I didn’t mean to. No, of course you didn’T. Do you know what happened to this woman? She died. It was my fault.

I’ve been patient with you,michael, up until now. I am done with you talking trash about nina. I don’t — you don’t want to listen? Don’t listen. But you know as well as I do that willow’s been on edge. Yeah, I know. We’ve both been on edge because of nina’s continued harassment. I’m not harassing.

[ Sighs ] I barely see you. And I’m not imagining this, michael. Something is going on with willow and tj. You just need to find out what it is. Just stay away from my family! She died as a result of an infection. But she wouldn’t have been there in the first place had I not confronted her. Okay. Hey, listen. You… you’re not to blame for this. For any of this. I’m so sorry you went through something so horrible and at such a young age. All right? Especially something that would traumatize you so deeply that you’d block it out. That’s the thing. My dad prescribed me sedatives, and my mother, being a psychologist, she coached me into locking away the memory. Why would they do that? I was having nightmares, and I was sleepwalking. Sound familiar? They claim they were afraid I was gonna hurt myself. So instead of helping me through it, they just made me forget. And they were worried that being around my dad would trigger me to remember, so they sent me away. And just stayed away for 25 years? I hesitate to even call them my parents because clearly they don’t know how to raise a child. Oh. Elizabeth, hey. I’m so sorry. I don’t even know — I don’t even know what to say. What they did — they abandoned me. They threw me away, and it was all for nothing because I remembered anyway. I have been terrified for my sanity. I thought that I was a danger to my kids. All because they wanted to keep this a secret. Did everything go okay? So far. As long as sonny keeps up his end. I’m sure he will. Well, then we can wish anna safe travels. Amen to that. That is pretty much all that is happening during the first trimester — fast-growing cells forming organs and bones and muscles. Okay, you were faced with a terrible choice. I really am glad you’re back home. Port charles is not the same without you. Oh, thank you. That means more than you know. I do have my work cut out for me, though. And here you came looking for terry, and you got more than you bargained for, didn’t you? No. I came looking for you. It’s wonderful to have spencer here with us for the holidays, isn’t it? [ Door closes ] I understand you’ve taken an active interest in the media coverage of the hook attacks, including this letter. Do you think it’s genuine? Could esme have written it? “Yes” and “no.”

[ Scoffs ] Okay, look. As much as I enjoy seeing you sitting there, trapped in that chair like a beetle pinned to a board, I do have other things to do. Answer the commissioner’s question. Yes or no? “Both.” Jordan, let’s try another time. Maybe he’ll be more cooperative. “Wait.” He’s got a lot to say. Let’s step over here. I really appreciate your help with the questioning. I know this is hard. Yeah, well, just looking at him makes my skin crawl. But, of course, I’ll do whatever is necessary to help protect trina. Well, if the killer is esme, so far, she hasn’t made any moves directly on trina. The hook seems to be focused on tormenting trina by targeting the people around her. Once all those people are dealt with, trina will be left. Mr. Chamberlain is finished. “The killer wrote the letter, but esme is not the killer. Look at the wording: ‘Me and mine.’ Esme has no one. Feels completely alone.” Mr. Chamberlain had one last thing to say. “Why are you still wearing your wedding ring? It’s obvious you and nikolas are over. Come back to me.” I can’t talk about reiko with you. If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have lost your wife. I can’t blame you for what happened. How can you not? How can you look at me and not see the person who killed your wife? You didn’t kill reiko. Reiko contracted a disease that I couldn’t cure. I know the facts. The facts don’t change how I feel. You tried to kill ava and diane miller. You did kill brando corbin and oz haggerty. Poor brando seemingly was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. But oz haggerty, he made the very poor choice of selling you a black-market phone, and that decision cost him his life. I am not the hook. How many times do I have to keep telling you that?! Oh, really? Then why have the attacks stopped… since I’ve locked you up in here? I honestly don’t know how to feel right now. Part of me has waited a lifetime to hear you admit that what you and mom did to me was wrong. It was such a betrayal. I understand that now. No worries, it was routine.

[ Waves crashing in distance ]

But if the police department believes that josslyn was the real target the night brando was attacked, then I’m almost certain that that killer’s not gonna stop until they zero in on trina. We can’t let that happen. I promise you both the pcpd is going to do everything possible to keep trina safe. Okay. We just all need to pull together. Right. Someone should call taggert. Trina’s father should know what’s going on. I just hoped that this year would be normal and that trina and i could go to college and be regular college students hanging out with our friends on campus. And now someone’s targeting us?

[ Sighs ] I will never let anyone hurt you. Ever.

[ Sighs ] Well, I’m glad jordan was here to make sure trina got home safe. Yeah. Oh, my god. [ Gasps ] What? Oh, my god, mom. If trina and everybody who stood by her during the trial are targets, that could be cam, too. I got to tell him. Oh, pick up, pick up, pick up.

[ Sighs ] It’s voicemail. Cam. Cam, when you get this, call me immediately. You could be in serious danger. So… I can take the sofa and you can stay in the bed. We can both stay in the bed. For cuddling. For afterwards.

[ Suspenseful music plays ] Hey! Is anyone there?

Mason was just saying that he’s having a hard time with the G.H. Insurance and billing department, and he asked me to make a few calls on his behalf. But, mason, I’m just — I’m not comfortable crossing any ethical lines. Oh, is that so?

[ Sighs ] But, um… yeah, I mean… …I suppose I can make a few calls. I’ll see what I can do.

[ Hands clap ] That’s all I’m asking. Thanks, cuz. And how lovely to see you again, maxie. Mason. Wow. Having a family that’s constantly asking for favors? That’s got to be exhausting. [ Receiver clicks ] Well, I know I’m gonna beef up the security around here, both inside and outside the house. And I’ll make sure a police car patrols your block. Trina is not gonna want to go into hiding or put her life on hold. Trina has the right idea. It may sound impossible, given the threats hanging over her head, but she needs to try and lead a normal life until we can catch this woman.

[ Sighs ] Um, how are we supposed to do that when we’re planning a wedding? Wedding.

[ Sighs ] Baby, I am sure jordan has been in touch with cam. What are you doing? Where do you think you’re going? Mom, cam is working right now. I have to go warn him. Yes. And you have called him, left him a voicemail, and you’ve texted him. And when he calls you back, you can tell him what’s going on. What if the killer is scoping out the restaurant or elizabeth’s house? Just waiting for cam to be alone? Who’s there? Cameron? It’s me. It’s drew. Hey.

[ Chuckling ] Hey. You — you expecting somebody else? It’s just that innocent people are getting murdered by the hook. I’m a little jumpy. Yeah. Hey, no, no, I-I get it. I went through my first pregnancy totally alone. It’s just… such a bonus that I get to share my pregnancy with you. And maybe for most couples, you know, the everyday check-ups might seem mundane, but I — I treasure them every bit as much as you do. So it makes sense that you would try to codify love, make an algorithm of it so it removes the uncertainty. But in the end, you’re still taking a risk. And now you’re telling me that she tho– she’s focused on trina? That’s one theory my department’s pursuing. But we don’t have enough evidence to merit police protection. [ Laughs ] It was my fault. I’m responsible for all of this. It was an accident. How do you know? How much did you see? I heard you and reiko arguing. By the time I made it over to the stairs, she was lying at the bottom, and you were standing over her. So you don’t know if it was an accident. I know you never would’ve pushed her deliberately. None of this would’ve happened if I hadn’t betrayed my marriage and my family. What did happen after reiko fell? She suffered a concussion and had internal bleeding. And when did you find out? Almost as soon as it happened. You were in quite a state. Your father was so worried about you that he came to me and confessed to everything. You were still a minor. We didn’t want to get tangled up in their legal system, so we put in for a transfer and got relocated. So what did — did reiko just go back to finn? After the fall, reiko needed a blood transfusion. That’s how she contracted the disease that killed her.

Reiko died because of me. That’s an oversimplification. Like your father said, it was an accident. An accident that I caused that led to her death. Why else would i block it out? At first, you didn’T. After the accident, you had horrible nightmares and were sleepwalking. One night, sarah found you perched at the top of the stairs at home. It terrified us. We worried that you would do harm to yourself. I prescribed you sedatives to help you sleep. And I started coaching sessions with you. Coaching? To discourage the memory. You brainwashed me to forget? We didn’t brainwash you. We were at our wit’s end trying to help you. Nothing was working. Is that why you sent me away? We sent you away not because we didn’t love you. I have a lot of feelings about spencer, but rory is mature and responsible and available, and spencer is none of those things. Mm-hmm. Trina, cam and I visited spencer. She sent you a letter through the usps? How quaint. What’d it say? Nothing quaint. She threatened me. Alexis, stop being glib. She told me to mind my own business and that she was going after people that had wronged her. What else did she say? See for yourself. I thought you said they confiscated the letter. Not before I made a copy.

Sending you to live away from us was the only way we could protect you. And dad’s reputation. It’s not about that. You’re a mother, lizzie. You know there’s nothing a parent won’t do to shield their child from pain. We’ve made mistakes, and I know you thought we’d abandoned you, but that’s just not true. As much as it hurt to lose our connection to you, better than losing you forever. So instead, you drugged me, programmed me, and then kicked me out. To protect your precious reputations. Hope it was worth it.

[ Door closes ] Yes, I have a very special algorithm which could land me in a very special federal penitentiary, w-which is why you — didn’t you just discourage me from using my masterpiece in my business venture? Yeah, and I still stand by that, but since you currently have the power to access private information, why not use it to learn the truth about cody? I mean, he could potentially be part of maxie’s family, georgie’s by default. Shouldn’t we know what he’s up to?

[ Sighs ] I am at your service, fair samantha. Discrediting that charlatan is a worthy cause. No, it’s not about discrediting him. It’s about making sure he’s here for the right reasons. I’m going to do what jordan told me to do. I’m going to sit on the story and wait till she gives me the exclusive. The priority of the police is catching the killer, not your story. So what if the commissioner of police doesn’t deliver on your quid pro quo? Then the deal is off. What’s your second thought? That if you’re not careful, this could blow back big time.

[ Sighs ] What to say? I mean, I feel more level and centered than I ever did… before. Before what? Nina: Oh.

[ Breathes deeply ] I heard you were denied bail. Mm. My occupation and ties to the international community — in the dictionary right next to “flight risk,” my photo. It’s a good face. So what happens now? Well, now… uh… it’s gonna get a bit worse. So, what’s the plan to break anna out of jail, short of an actual jailbreak? Well, now that she’s been denied bail, I’m running low on options. The robert scorpio I knew wouldn’t have stopped until he’d exhausted every last one. I said I was running low — I didn’t say I was giving up. Believe it. I’m still the man that you know. Elizabeth: I hate to disappoint you, but I came here looking for answers, and I’m not leaving without them. For the past 25 years, I have built a good life for myself and my family. I have been independent for so long, I can’t even remember what it’s like to have parents. But now I need answers only you can give. What kind of answers are you looking for? Answers about our past on the mariana islands.

[ Sighs ] About a year and a half ago, back in port charles, there was an accident in one of the stairwells at the hospital. The details aren’t important, but it triggered a memory. Anna’s gonna be in the pcpd lockup overnight, pending a transfer to pentonville… where she’s awaiting her trial. Pentonville’s a dangerous place for anyone, let alone a decorated law enforcement agent like anna. Oh, she’ll be a target. And victor, well, he gets his way when he had her framed for lucy’s murder. I’ve been holding out hope that lucy would be found by now. Right now, I’m so thankful that you’ve been found. As for lucy, we just sit around and wait for the next miracle.

[ Cellphone ringing ] I got to take this. Who is it? Anna’s last chance.

[ Ringing continues ] So, anna… yeah, she called. She called to tell me that you were visiting charlotte, and she was afraid that your father had set a trap for you, so I caught the first flight out of milan, and I’m here. Well, she was half-right. My father did set a trap by sending me here, but it wasn’t for me — it was for her. Why? Has something happened to her? As soon as I was out of the country, my father had someone posing as anna shoot lucy coe off the dock in port charles. Oh, I heard about poor lucy. I’m grabbing charlotte, and I’m getting out of here. Okay, well, I’m here to help you any way I can. Okay, let’s go. Alright.

This is absolutely a memory. How do you know? People remember things wrong all the time, even important things. So I’m just asking — how can you be sure? Something went wrong in the mariana islands, and your behavior since proves that. The two of you have been missing from my life, from my family’s life for the past 25 years. And then, all of a sudden, you decide to — to reach out? And not — not through me, of course. You reach out through jake and through terry. Something had to have happened to make you want to contact them. Jake had just lost his father. We were concerned. Really? But you weren’t concerned through any of my pregnancies or all the times I got married and divorced or when my husband died? There was plenty of opportunity for you to show up — not for me, I mean, at least for your grandchildren. But you never did until now. And why? W-why did you contact jake after franco died? Why? Elizabeth, I am sorry for what you’ve been through, but what is it you want to know?

[ Breathes sharply ] Who was reiko finn? So, what’s next? Is there a plan? And if so, what can I do to help? Oh, come on, finn. I’m really glad to see you, but this is my problem, you know? Shouldn’t you be with violet, getting her ready for trick-or-treat? She’s with my dad, alright? I’ll let him enjoy the getting ready part, and then I’ll take her around the neighborhood later and eat all the good candy when she falls asleep.

[ Chuckles ] What costume is she wearing? A purple princess. You want to see? Oh, yeah. She’s so cute. Yeah, I made it myself.

[ Chuckles ] I miss her. She misses you. She asked me just the other day when you can come over for a tea party. Might be a while. Okay. In the meantime, what can I do to help? Mnh-mnh. If memory serves, in new york state, once a bail decision has been made, it can only be modified if there’s a change of circumstance. Been brushing up on that new york law, have we? No, I’ve been before a judge or two in my day, as you know. But has anything changed that can help anna get another hearing?

[ Sighs ] That’s what I’m trying to figure out. I got to find myself someone who’ll go over judge walsh’s head. Robert, this is a big mistake that could backfire disastrously. You need to stop. Sister. Good day, sir. Mattis: You’re charlotte cassadine’s father. Yeah, that’s right. Proudly so. The good sister was just about to show me the bell tower, since I’m waiting for her to get ready. You know how teenage girls are. Indeed. But I’ve never seen you here. What’s your name, sister? Carly, t-there’s not much you can say as far as the time I spend with avery. I know that, but donna on the other hand… yeah, but the thing is, nina never spent the night when donna was over. [ Sighs ] Okay, so now we’re done with the small talk. Why don’t you tell me why you’re really here? Wow. Am I that obvious? You’re in the company of a beautiful monarch butterfly, and yet you look troubled. Not a difficult guess. I need your advice on a legal matter that, um… well, it could ruin more than one life. Carolyn: Reiko finn? I remember reiko. She was another physician in doctors without borders. There were a few of us stationed on the various islands. But she wasn’t just any physician to you, was she? What about reiko do you want to know? Why ask about her at all? Because she’s who I remember. I have this memory of arguing with reiko, which is crazy to begin with, because I was a teenager and she was a doctor. But I remember telling her to stay away from my father. Why would I say that? Dad, just tell me, what was your relationship with reiko? I need a breather. W-w-what do you say w-we take a walk? The three of us? Just you and me, father and daughter. Why can’t we do this in front of mom? Fine. Since you refuse to let this go… reiko and i had an affair. But she was married to finn at the time. From what I was told, she was a good person. Good people do bad things. Being thrown in the middle of nowhere, working long hours with only strangers as friends? People get lonely. Lonely? You had your entire family with you. Mom, I’M… I’m sorry. Probably should have gone for that walk. I’m sure this is a shock to you. It’s not. Look at you — moving around court officials, looking for loopholes? It — it’s called practicing law. It’s not you, though, is it? I mean, it could jeopardize your standing as D.A. It could destroy your career, really mess up your life. I can’t do nothing. I can’t sit around and watch this woman, the mother of my child, get squeezed by cassadine. Keeping anna out of pentonville is just the first step. She is going to need you not as a friend, but as the D.A., To help her out later on. And if you get into trouble, it could cause even bigger problems for both of you down the line. You’ve got a point. I’ve already got the deputy mayor breathing down my throat, because she works for cassadine. Certainly wouldn’t be a good thing if I was caught doing a favor for anna, on her behalf. Thank you. You know, I think you’re onto something. We could use a break.

[ Sighs ] Great, and while we’re at it, maybe we can figure out how to nail victor. Oh… are you alright? I just got a little dizzy there for a moment. No, I’m fine. I’m fine. Okay. Hypothetically, did the ceo share this information with the friend before the merger was official? Yes, but — and this is — and this is important — and thoroughly imaginary. The ceo did not ask his friend to drive up the stock value. In fact, he tried to dissuade said friend… said imaginary friend. …From being involved whatsoever. Right. So would that be an example of insider trading? Hell yes. You don’t even have to think about it? The friend purchased stock based on confidential information from the ceo of the company. That is textbook insider trading. Okay. So, I mean, how bad could this get? I mean, in real life? Both parties could serve prison time. Wow. Right. Has there been any inquiry from the sec, hypothetically? No. That’s good, because they would have to prove that the ceo and the friend were entering into conspiracy, and that would be harder to do unless there’s a family or romantic connection. As long as these hypothetical individuals are just acquaintances or casual friends, anyone who would try to press charges would have a hard time finding someone to look into it.
