Adam: Hey. I found chelsea.

Lily: Was billy with her?

Adam: Yeah. They were on the roof. Chelsea seems really upset. There’s no telling what billy said to her.

Billy: Let’s just take a little rest here on the couch. You want me to take your boots off, maybe?

[ Sniffs ]

Chelsea: What are you doing?

Billy: I am just going to silence your phone. I don’t think you need to be talking to anybody tonight. Unless, of course, you –&&–ppyou want to talk to someone. Is there someone I can call? Want to go for a drive, maybe? We can just jump in the car and… drive around the lake or something.

Chelsea: No. I don’t want to go anywhere.

Billy: Are you hungry? Maybe I can — I can — I can get them to bring you some — some food down, maybe.

Chelsea: No, billy. No. I’m not hungry.

Billy: Okay. Well, I’m gonna do whatever i can to help you here, okay? So, uh… so you just need to know that, okay?

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] The way you can help me is just to leave me alone.

Billy: I knew you were gonna say that.

Chelsea: I’m serious. Let me go. Billy…

[Crying] Just let me go.

Chance: [ Sniffs ]

Abby: [ Chuckles softly ]

Chance: [ Chuckles ] You’re a vision.

Abby: What are you doing here?

Chance: Oh, I’m just relaxing, you know — enjoying a hot beverage.

Abby: What about the stakeout?

Chance: Oh, we, uh — we finished early. Yeah. The guy we were supposed to be watching, uh, got picked up vandalizing a shoe store on the other side of town, so… called it for the night.

Abby: And you chose to come here instead of home?

Victoria: Four weeks’ vacation. That sounds about right.

[ Clears throat ] Yeah. Oh, and you should know that newman also has a very generous health plan — vision, dental, mental-health services, et cetera.

Nate: I’d expect nothing less.

Victoria: Okay. Well, I think that covers everything. I will send these deal memos off to legal.

Nate: You mean you’ll base a contract on the notes you scribbled on a cocktail napkin.

Victoria: [ Chuckles ] Well, it won’t be the first time they’ve seen something like this. The lawyers will work up a draft, and then we can take it from there. PNate: Oh, one more thing — parking.

Victoria: Parking? Oh. Well, don’t you live like a couple of blocks from newman towers?

[ Both chuckle ]

Nate: I may need to drive sometimes. I’d like a spot near the elevator.

Victoria: Ohh. I think maybe I can make that happen. Parking. Alright. Is that it? Do we have a deal?

Nate: I think so.

Victoria: Congratulations. You’re now the new C.E.O. Of newman media. Welcome to the company, nate.

Devon: You’ve got to be kidding me.

Billy: Well, I’m gonna stay right here. I don’t think you need to be alone tonight.

Chelsea: It’s the one thing i want. Why can’t you give me the one thing I want?

Billy: Come on, chelsea. You’re not gonna send me out on the street, are you? It’s halloween. It’s not safe. There’s a bunch of teenagers out there.

Chelsea: Stop.

Billy: Okay. I can do that. I can definitely be quiet, but I’m not going anywhere.

Chelsea: That’s not your call! This is my room! You don’t get to make decisions about my life, billy! I mean it! You stopped me on that roof! It wasn’t your call! You had no right!

Billy: I’m sorry i interfered. But I just don’t think you’re thinking clearly. You’re just in in too much pain.

Chelsea: You’re right! I am in pain! And I figured out a way to stop it! And you took that choice from me! (Birds chirping)

Chance: I was gonna come home after this. Just catching a little peace and quiet by myself.

Abby: And you don’t get peace and quiet at our house?

Chance: Look, abby, I don’t know what to tell you. I guess I just wasn’t ready to come home.

Abby: Chance, what is happening with us?

Lily: I am sure billy didn’t upset chelsea. He was worried about her, so I’m sure he was being sensitive and thoughtful.

Adam: Look, I-I understand why you want to think the best of your boyfriend, but you didn’t see chelsea. I did, and she was really upset.

Lily: That doesn’t mean it was billy’s fault.

Adam: I-I want to know what happened up on that rooftop.

Lily: Well, why didn’t you ask them when you saw them?

Adam: I did, and billy shut me down. He hurried chelsea out of there like he didn’t want to hear from me at all. Okay, lily, something is going on, and I would like to know what it is. This is the mother of my child. I have a right to know.

Lily: I don’t know what you want from me, adam. I don’t control billy.

Adam: Have you heard from him since he left here?

Lily: No, I haven’T.

Adam: Do you have any idea where he could have gone?

Lily: No, and if I did, I wouldn’t tell you.

Adam: Why not?

Lily: Because I don’t trust you. After the debacle at chanccomm that you pulled?

Adam: Lily, lily, that was business! This is the mother of my child, okay? My intentions are good. If she’s in trouble, I want to help her.

Lily: I know what you’re doing, okay? You’re trying to get information out of me, and it’s not gonna happen.

Billy: I’m sorry that i interfered and I took away your choice. But, chelsea, I got to say i would do that again in a heartbeat.

Chelsea: Damn you, billy.

Billy: Yeah. I get it. You can damn me straight to hell, but that’s not gonna change, okay? Because I know… that that is not the choice that you would have made two weeks ago. It’s not the choice that you’re gonna make two weeks from now. I am not gonna let you do something like that to you or to your son. You just have too much to live for. So, I know it’s bad tonight, but you’re gonna have to work through it.

Chelsea: You don’t get it.

Billy: I would love for you to try and explain it to me.

Chelsea: I don’t see a way through this. I told you what it feels like. It’s like I’m — I’m floating and I can’t keep my head above water.

Billy: I remember that conversation.

Chelsea: The water’s closing in, and I’m not gonna be able to breathe soon. And no amount of time or working through it is going to fix that.

Billy: Well, it’s got to. I honestly believe that it’s gonna get better.

Chelsea: You don’t know that. What — what are you doing here? What — why are you here?

Billy: It’s halloween… and I didn’t pick up my costume from the dry cleaner’s on time.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] If you’re gonna just make bad jokes, I-I honestly don’t understand the purpose of you being here.

Billy: Unfortunately, my jokes aren’t gonna get any better, chelsea. That’s all I got. But I’m gonna be honest with you right now.

[ Voice breaking ] I don’t know how to handle this.

Chelsea: Then you should go. That’s what you should do.

Billy: Well, I know for certain that is the last thing that I’m doing, okay? I’m staying here.

Chelsea: [ Sighs heavily ] I keep hearing voices.

Billy: Are they telling you what to do?

Chelsea: No. No. They’re like… memories of… people reminding me how i failed. You’re one of them. Like the time I kissed you and you said it was a mistake — I-I hear it like you were — you were saying I’m the mistake.

Billy: That’s not how I meant that at all.

Chelsea: That’s how it sounded to me. It’s how it’s always gonna sound to me. These voices… I’ve just done such terrible things, and people keep forgiving me, but I don’t forgive myself.

Billy: Well, everything is forgivable. I mean… even things that seem beyond repair are fixable.

Chelsea: No. Not this time. This is unfixable.

Billy: I just don’t believe that. I mean… you have too much to live for, you know? The number-one thing being connor.

Chelsea: D-don’t say his name.

Billy: Chelsea, you’re his mother. Connor needs you.

Chelsea: I-I mean it. Don’t say his name.

Billy: Why? I mean, he should be in your thoughts. Why — why do you not want to talk about him?

Chelsea: He is in my thoughts, but he’s better off without me, the same way johnny is.

Billy: No. That is absolutely not true.

Chelsea: It is true! The world is better off without me!

Billy: Chelsea, do not say that.

[ Knock on door ] Chelsea [Sighs] Will you just let me know that you’re alright?

[ Cellphone chimes ]

[ Cellphone rings ]

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Billy: The whole world can stay on the other side of that door. You don’t need to talk to anyone. If you want to talk, I will listen. But right now, the only thing that matters is you.

Chance: Nothing is happening with us, okay? Okay. Maybe something’s going on. I don’t know.

Abby: Then what is it? Where is this coming from?

Chance: It feels like a natural progression to me. Relationships have their ups and downs, right?

Abby: Okay. Then are we on the downside, or are we stuck somewhere in the middle?

Chance: I don’t know. I wouldn’t worry about it, though.

Abby: Well, that’s easy for you to say. I’m not the one avoiding you.

Chance: You think that’s what I’m doing? You think I’m avoiding you?

Abby: Chance, I don’t know what you’re doing. You cancel plans tonight ’cause you say you have to work, and, I mean, I tried to not be upset. I tried to understand.

Chance: Come one. You might have not started a fight, but you were not happy about it.

Abby: Of course I wasn’t happy. I was frustrated because we couldn’t get dressed up in our matching costumes and take our son, dominic, out for halloween, but that doesn’t mean I love you any less.

Chance: And I don’t love you any less. Look, abby, things with us are, on the whole, pretty good, until I have to fulfill some work obligation.

Abby: I will admit that I get frustrated when you have to rush off and be supercop, which seems to be happening all the time.

Chance: I’m busy. That’s my job. I don’t control when the criminals of genoa city are gonna be active. I don’T. And you don’t get disappointed. You get resentful of my job ’cause I’m not free to put you above all my other responsibilities.

Abby: Resentful?

[ Inhales deeply ] Okay. I think that we should talk about this at home.

Chance: Abby, if we do that, we are gonna get comfortable and we’re gonna push this aside and we’re gonna deny it’s even a problem. If you want to fix this, let’s do it here.

Abby: [ Sniffles ] Fine. We seem to have the patio to ourselves. Let’s do it here.

Victoria: I don’t understand, devon. Why are you so surprised that I’d want to hire nate?

Devon: Mm. I’m surprised that you’re surprised, ’cause I didn’t think that he’s the kind of employee that newman enterprises would value.

Victoria: Why would you say that? Newman tried to hire him before, but he chose to go to chancellor-winters. I’m just completely thrilled that he’s available now.

Devon: Right, but you know why he’s available, don’t you?

Nate: You can stop talking about me like I’m not here, cuz.

Devon: Victoria, you’re aware of why he’s not with his own family’s company, right?

Nate: I have already filled in victoria about what happened.

Devon: I bet you did, and i bet it didn’t take too much information to get her caught up, right?

Victoria: What does that mean?

Devon: It means this is payment. What’s happening right here — it’s payment for betraying us. ‘Cause that was the deal. He traded in his C.O.O. Position and his integrity for a C.E.O. Position.

Victoria: Well, I wouldn’t say that.

Devon: Well, what would you say, then, victoria? ‘Cause it’s pretty damn obvious that you’re the person he’s been colluding with this whole time.

When moderate to severe

ulcerative colitis persists…

Billy: No sign of adam.

Chelsea: He’ll be back. I’m sure he thinks all sorts of horrible things about me after seeing us on the roof.

Billy: Generally, I try not to worry about what adam thinks. I think you should do the same.

Chelsea: Beats the alternative — worrying about myself. It’s too painful when I think of what my life has become. I can’t continue being tormented by these voices.

Billy: You know you don’t have to listen to them. I mean… it took me years after delia died to… realize that I could shut off that part of my brain when she- would show up.

Chelsea: You would actually see her?

Billy: Oh, yeah. Still do sometimes. I mean, she’s always there. Most of the time, it’s good. Sometimes it’s not so good, and that’s when I have to remind myself that that’s just noise.

Chelsea: It’s not that easy.

Billy: You know, sometimes i find that it helps when I talk to someone. You can try talking to chloe. She’s a good friend.

Chelsea: Chloe’s had it with me. I can’t talk to her.

Billy: What about your mom?

Chelsea: Definitely not.

[ Sighs heavily ] What time is it? It must be really late.

Billy: That doesn’t matter. I’ve got nowhere to be.

Chelsea: Billy, seriously, you can go. I mean, I’m — I’m exhausted. I just want to sleep.

Billy: You know what? That’s a good idea. Let’s get you, uh — let’s get you in bed. You can get a little bit of rest. Come on over. Let’s get you cozy in here. You can close your eyes and, uh… just try and relax a little bit.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ]

[ Sighs ]

Billy: [ Sighs ]

Victoria: Well, maybe we’ve been celebrating a little bit too much tonight. Maybe I just have too much on my mind. I’m — I’m not clear, devon. What — what exactly are you accusing me of?

Devon: Well, let me make it clear for you, victoria. You’re the C.E.O. That he was gonna sell his shares to.

Victoria: So let me get this straight, because I’m not following your logic. You think that nate and i conspired and came up with a scheme and then the scheme failed, so, as a reward for that scheme, I offered him a job.

Devon: Mm.

Victoria: Does that make sense? I mean, do I supposedly get something out of this alleged collusion?

Nate: I don’t think it matters who it was. I was honest with you and lily before following through with the plan. It’s a non-issue. And chancellor-winters wasn’t hurt at all.

Devon: Well, you did some serious damage to your family, and you don’t seem to mind. I really thought it was tucker this whole time. I never even thought of a newman. I should have, though. I mean, you guys are — you guys are famous for corporate moves like this. But is it that you don’t have enough? Like, you just absorbed locke communications group, you scammed your way into buying chanccomm, and now you want to go after and take control of the company that neil left behind. That’s how you’re trying to honor his memory. Hmm.

Abby: I really don’t like that word “resent,” chance. I don’t resent your job. I don’t know why you seem to think I don’t understand how important your job is. I have done nothing but bend over backwards to accept your call to duty. I mean, you — you get called away to spain, and I sit here and I wait for you. We have no communication, nothing, and I waited and i prayed and I believed that you were gonna come home to me and to our son. That’s how much I understand you and the way that you tick.

Chance: I understand that, and I am —

Abby: And then you came home, and it was a really dark time. You were filled with grief and stress and nightmares, and I had nothing but compassion for you.

Chance: I understand, abby, and I love you for that.

Abby: And then once you pulled through that and you told me that, for whatever reason, you wanted to go back into law enforcement… I found a way to accept that decision.

Chance: Abby, I think you’re trying very hard to accept it. But I don’t think you’re being completely honest with me or yourself. (Dog barking) we love our pets.

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Abby: How can you say that I’m not being honest?

Chance: It’s not just you. I feel the same way about myself. When I say that there’s nothing going on, I know that that’s not right. There’s something happening, and I think we need to be open and real.

Abby: Agreed, so… what’s the truth?

Chance: Abby, I love you so much. But there is resentment building on both sides here.

Abby: But I don’t want to think of us like that, like on — on separate sides.

Chance: I know. I don’t, either, but that’s what’s happening. You don’t like my late hours, you don’t like the fact that i spent so much time clearing rey’s cases, and you don’t like the fact that I was conflicted on how I dealt with ashland’s death.

Abby: Yes, that’s true. But what about you? What do you resent?

Chance: You do not understand why protecting your father will always be a problem for me. I’m just beginning to feel like you want this ideal — you know, not a real man with actual flaws.

Abby: Where is this coming from?

Chance: Abby, you just don’t want to see it any more than i did, okay? But I think – I think you like the idea of being married to a federal agent or a cop, but the realities of the job — they don’t interest you. I’m gonna have a late schedule sometimes. I’m gonna have an unpredictable schedule. And every now and then, I’m gonna be put in a dangerous situation.

Abby: Yeah, well, who would like that?

Chance: I’m just saying any time this stuff is brought up, you get disappointed. And I think if you just take a second and you look deep down, you’ll realize that’s the truth.

Abby: You know, you may be unhappy… and disappointed… but you don’t get to tell me how I feel. And right now… I feel like being alone.

Chance: No, abby. Abby, stop. Abby!

[ Sighs ]

Victoria: Neil was a-a good friend to me, and not just me — my family — and I would never do anything to disrespect his memory.

Devon: Oh. Well, I think that trying to dismantle his company from the inside out is pretty disrespectful, wouldn’t you say?

Victoria: No, and if I did what you’re accusing me of, neil would have realized that it was just business, nothing more. It wasn’t personal.

Devon: You had this guy lying to his family. How are you gonna say it’s not personal? Do you think that neil would have ever done something like that to your dad while he was working at newman? You know he wouldn’t have. He felt an allegiance to victor when he was there and to katherine when he was at chancellor. He was loyal to them.

Victoria: That is true, and i hope that my employees feel the same way about me. But chancellor-winters and newman enterprises are two completely separate companies. In fact, some people might even say that they’re rivals. So you and I — we don’t owe each other anything, at least professionally.

Nate: Devon, this is between you and me.

Devon: And her. I’m not stupid, you guys. You’re up in here celebrating. It’s very clear what’s going on. And I’m not just gonna ignore the person that’s going after my company.

Nate: Look, I am asking you to leave victoria out of this. I know it’s gonna take some time for you to forgive me, if it ever happens.

Devon: I’m never gonna forgive you.

Nate: But you’ve got to know I am trying to move on and forgive myself. So I need to go out and find my purpose somewhere else.

Victoria: That’s where newman enterprises comes in. I think it’s best for everyone that he’s no longer a part of your family business. But I am very happy that nate is gonna be a part of my business family.

Devon: Okay. Well, watch your back, ’cause he doesn’t really value family the way you’d imagine. Newman media might not be enough for him one day. He might go after your job. So good luck.

Sharon: Here. You look like you needed that.

Chance: Thank you.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Sharon: Hmm. Ah. I have to take this. Uh, excuse me. Billy? It’s late. Is everything okay?

Billy: No. No, it’s not. It’s chelsea.

Sharon: What happened?

Billy: There’s been an incident, sharon, and, um… I’m not sure what do. Can you come to her suite?

Sharon: Yeah. Of course. I’ll — I’ll be right over.

Billy: Thank you. And, sharon, this is very important, but don’t involve anyone else in this, okay? Just keep this between us.

Sharon: Got it. Okay. I won’t say anything to anyone. Um…I’ll see you soon.

Adam: Please, chelsea, just call me back or send me a text and let me know that you’re okay. Sharon. Where, uh — where are you off to at this hour?

Sharon: Um, I’m sorry, adam. I really can’t talk. I’m in a rush to get out of here.

Adam: H-have you seen chelsea? Did she and billy come through here tonight?

Sharon: Uh, no. I haven’t seen them. Why are you asking?

Adam: Because I’m worried that something might have happened. I think billy abbott could be responsible. Did you know some of your detergent’s fragrance

Sharon: I’m sure everything’s okay. You know, chelsea’s strong. She’s a true survivor at heart.

Adam: Sharon, that may be, but I just wish that she would pick up the phone and tell me what’s going on. It’s just — just so irresponsible of her.

Sharon: Well, I’m sure you will hear from her eventually.

Adam: She’s connor’s mom. She can’t fall off the grid. I mean, connor’s at a sleepover. She has to be reachable. I mean, what the hell does billy abbott have to do with whatever’s going on?

Sharon: I’m sorry, adam. Um, I’ve stayed here too long already. I have to go.

Nate: I apologize for my cousin.

Victoria: No, there’s no need I get it. He’s hurt. You and I — we both know that he was gonna put together the pieces eventually, so maybe it’s better that we got it out of the way early.

Nate: I don’t think this is over — not by a long shot.

Victoria: Well, maybe not for devon, but you and me are moving forward, and that’s what matters. And, for the record, I don’t regret my decision one bit. Having you on board at newman enterprises is worth any trouble that it’s gonna cause with devon and lily.

Nate: That’s good to hear. Thank you.

Victoria: You’re welcome.

Nate: [ Sighs ]

Abby: Damn it!

Devon: Abby.

Abby: [ Sighs ]

Devon: Hey. What’s the matter?

Abby: [ Sighs ]

[ Cellphone rings ]

Lily: Hey.

Billy: Hi. It’s good to hear your voice. Are you at home?

Lily: No. I came by the office to grab a few things. You know, I can’t believe that you left me at the club.

Billy: Yeah. I’m sorry about that.

Lily: So, is everything okay?

Billy: Not really.

Lily: Well, I mean, adam seemed concerned. He said that he saw you and chelsea together. So, should I be concerned, too?

Billy: No, not in the way that you’re thinking.

Lily: Are you sure? Because it wasn’t that long ago that chelsea wanted something more than friendship from you.

Billy: Lily, chelsea had an incident tonight, and she’s in a really bad place, so I am going to stay with her until she gets some — some help.

Lily: Okay. An — an incident? Billy, what is going on? What is happening with chelsea?

Billy: I honestly don’t really know, but sharon’s on her way, and, hopefully, she’ll know how to help. But don’t worry, okay?

Lily: I’m already worried.

[ Knock on door ]

Billy: That’s sharon. I’m gonna have to go. I’ll call you as soon as I can.

Billy: Hi.

[ Sighs ] Thank you for coming.

Sharon: Yeah, of course. What happened?

Billy: I found her on the roof. She was standing on the edge, and…she was ready to jump.

Sharon: What? Oh, my god.

Billy: I got her down safely and out of danger, but she is not happy with me. She was ready to end her life, sharon.

Sharon: I knew she needed to get back into therapy, but I did not know that it was this extreme.

Billy: She wanted to jump. And I stopped her from doing that. But her feelings haven’t changed. So please tell me you know what the hell to do now. If you think all pads are exactly the same…

Devon: Okay. So, you and chance had an argument. You guys are married. It’s supposed to happen from time to time, right? You make up and you move past it.

Abby: I don’t know. This seemed fundamental. And I’m starting to think that every sad, negative thing that chance said about our relationship might be true.

Devon: Come on, abby. I don’t buy that for one second. People say a lot of things in the moment. You know that. What do you do when life hands you a lemon, huh?

Abby: You throw them on the ground and… start crying.

Devon: How’d you know?

Abby: [ Chuckles softly ]

Devon: It’s okay.

Billy: She’s still out.

Sharon: Okay. Look, it’s a good sign that chelsea is sleeping. She must be physically and emotionally exhausted. Do you know if she took any drugs tonight or if she had any alcohol?

Billy: No. I’m pretty certain she didn’t take any drugs. She might have had a drink at the club.

Sharon: Okay. Well, one drink won’t cause any medical issues. The next 72 hours are crucial. We have got to get her into a facility where she can be monitored and kept safe, and i can arrange for that in the morning.

Billy: Yeah, no. I’m — I’m sure that’s the right thing to do, but convincing her — that’s gonna be a whole different issue.

Sharon: Yeah, I know.

Billy: She’s in a lot of pain, sharon, and only sees one way to stop it.

Sharon: No matter what, we’ve got to get her to that facility.

Billy: It’s gonna be a struggle.

Sharon: I know it is.

Billy: [ Sniffles ]

Sharon: Hey, you’ve been a really good friend to her. She’s really lucky to have you in her life. But the best way to help her now is to get her in the hands of professionals. This must have been really stressful for you, too. Are you alright?

Billy: The night that delia died… I was sitting on the side of the road… holding her in my arms, waiting for the ambulance to come. It felt like it was taking hours. Really, it was probably only a few minutes. But all I could do was hold her and tell her that she was gonna be okay. But I knew. I knew she wasn’t gonna make it. I have the same feeling tonight. All I could do was tell chelsea that she was gonna be okay. But all I kept thinking was, “she’s not gonna make it.”

Sharon: You handled it perfectly, billy.

Billy: I couldn’t save my daughter, sharon. I’m not gonna let the same thing happen to chelsea.

Chelsea: Billy?

Billy: Hi. Um… chelsea, I-I needed some help. I hope you understand. I called sharon, and she raced over here.

Sharon: Chelsea, I know that you’re in tremendous pain, and i know you’re looking for a way to make it stop. I want to help you get the support to ease that pain in a positive way, in a way that gives you room to feel all the love that people have for you — people like me.

Billy: And me.

Chelsea: I-I don’t know what — what billy has told you, but I don’t need help.

Sharon: Chelsea, I know that you and I have a complicated past, but please trust me. And if you can’t trust me, then trust rey. He would want to see you take this step. He saw the good in you. That’s why he gave you another chance. Don’t throw that away. We’re gonna find you some answers, okay? Will you let us help you?
