Sharon: Well, Esther, I don’t know if you’ve heard, but nick, Adam, and I are going to be running a new media company together.

Esther: Yeah, I did hear. That’s so exciting! Well, you’re gonna have your plate full with the business and– and Crimson Lights.

Sharon: Yes, I am going to be very busy, which is why I asked you to come over today.

Esther: Oh?

Sharon: Yeah, I have a proposition for you. Um, this new company is gonna need to take most of my focus, and I’m really not ready to let go of crimson lights. It’s just such a big part of me. So I thought that maybe the next best thing would be to find someone to manage it for me.

Esther: Mm-hmm.

Sharon: Someone I can count on, someone who’s good with people, has an eye for detail. Someone who’s maybe worked here before and knows how we do things around here? Does that… sound like anyone you know?

Esther: You’re talking about me? You want me to manage Crimson Lights?

Sharon: I kind of thought it might be the perfect job, but I know that being at Chancellor-Winters means a lot to you, the connection with Katherine.

Esther: Well, Mrs. C was family, and that means Devon’s family, and I was thrilled when he wanted me to be part of the company with Lily, and being able to, uh, bug Jill once in a while.

[ Laughs ] Had a friend benefit. But now that I’ve been there a while, there are some things that I don’t like.

Sharon: Like what?

Esther: Well, when I took the job of a receptionist at Chancellor-Winters, I– I– I thought that I would be able to talk to a lot of people, that employees and clients would be coming in for meetings. But now it just turns out that there’s just video conferences and texts and people are calling on their cell phone all the time and working from home is the thing, and, well, I just wanted more human interaction.

Sharon: Well, there are plenty of people coming in and out of here every day, and they do have to talk to you if they wanna eat or drink.

Esther: Well, yeah, I mean, they wanna be alone or else bond with a friend and order a triple shot Cappuccino with cinnamon.

Sharon: Exactly. Right? See, you know, you used to work here. You know the ins and outs of this place.

Adam: Look, all this anger that you’ve been carrying around for months, it shouldn’t be directed at me.

Nick: Really?

Adam: Not all of it. I assume that you know what dad did to sally by offering her a great opportunity at Newman, even finding her a replacement at Chancellor-Winters, and then, sorry, not happening.

Nick: Yeah, Sally told me.

Adam: He left her with nothing. He messed with her the way that he messed with us. She didn’t deserve that.

Nick: I know.

Adam: Well, then why do we keep putting up with it?

Nick: Look, I never wanted sally to take dad’s job offer. I knew he would just mess with her head.

Adam: Or he never intended to follow through. And dad didn’t just renege on the offer. He shut down her options at chancellors-winters first. He just left her hanging out to dry.

Nick: Sally’s going to be just fine, all right? She will get through this. She will find something else.

Adam: Yeah, of– of course she will. That’s not the point. I mean, he hurt her and it meant nothing to him. It was cold and it was calculated like…

Nick: It’s a chess move.

Adam: Exactly. Just some expendable piece on the board, one step closer to his real goal.

Nick: And what do you think that is, Adam?

Adam: It– it’s us. It’s about you and it’s about me. You’ve been walking around for months, angry at me because I decided to defy him and ignore this ridiculous decree that we not merge the companies when it makes sense from a business perspective. So why would he do that?

Nick: Look, what happened with Sally, it’s–

Adam: Just another manipulation. It’s another power move. Only this time he used a woman that we both care about to do it. He had to take back control by showing us he’s still in charge. So what I don’t understand is, why you are not more pissed off about that?

Sonny asks Carly if she saw Austin when she went to see Drew at Pentonville. Carly tells Sonny she did see Austin but she doesn’t know who he was visiting. Carly tells Sonny she assumed he was visiting a patient since he was carrying his medical bag. Sonny asks Carly to let him know if she sees Austin at the prison again because he thinks Austin is hiding something and he wants to find out what Austin is hiding because he doesn’t trust Austin.

Jordan visits Curtis in rehab and tells him someone burned down Anna’s house. Curtis thinks that the shooter didn’t intend to kill Anna maybe the shooter just wanted to scare her and his injury was collateral damage.

Ava advises Portia not to let Curtis push her away to keep telling him she loves him and his injury doesn’t change her feelings for him.

Dante asks Sam to check on Cody because he is acting crazy so that he can get into Fern Cliff to rescue Sasha. Mac tells Cody that Dominique was also wrongfully committed to Fern Cliff, and he tried to get her out just like he is trying to help Sasha. Sam refuses to help Cody get committed to Fern Cliff.

Lucy and Maxie tell Gladys that Deception is being sued by an anonymous company. They are claiming that Deception stole the idea for the Receptor from them. Lucy and Maxie tell Gladys that Deception stock has been frozen and can’t be sold.

Mariah and Tessa see Elena at the park and tell her that Aria’s pediatrician thinks she might have severe hearing loss. Mariah and Tessa tell Elena that they made an appointment with a specialist to get a more accurate diagnosis. Mariah and Tessa stop by Crimson Lights to tell Sharon what the doctor said about Aria.

Esther excitedly and loudly tells them she is the new manager of Crimson Lights and Aria starts to cry.

Nick and Sharon try to persuade Adam that they must continue to run the new company together, but he insists that he must be the CEO.

Audra goes to talk to Victor and Nikki to ask if she would have a job after the merger. Victor assures her she will have a place at Newman. Victor is impressed by both Nate and Audra. Nikki tells him Nate and Audra don’t need mentoring, they need a short leash because they are too ambitious.

Marshall once again tells Mrs. Wu that the Savoy isn’t for sale and Marshall makes it clear that the illegal poker games at the Savoy are done. Marshall tells Mrs. Wu that he can’t be blackmailed because he has nothing to lose. Gladys feels guilty that Dr. Montague has hooked Sasha on drugs again. Gladys demands that Dr. Montague release Sasha from Fern Cliff, but he wants Gladys to pay him $50,000 to release Sasha from Fern Cliff.

Mrs. Wu also wants Gladys to pay her debt in full because she has to shut down the poker games.

Stella returns to her job as patient advocate at the hospital. After watching Stella work, Felicia decides to apply for a job as patient advocate.

Carly persuades Drew to let Diane see if she can get him an early release from Pentonville. Dex visits “Book” and tells him Sonny wants him to stay away from Drew but also protect Drew if anyone bothers him.

Austin thanks Cyrus for being a friend to his mother and paying for his medical school but he is done working for him because he has done more than enough to pay the debt he owes him. Austin feels guilty that he lied to Ava and told her Nikolas is dead since he was the one who saved his life.

Dex is surprised to see Austin at Pentonville prison talking to Cyrus, but he can’t hear what they are saying to each other. Cyrus thanks Austin for bringing him the thumb drive and tells him to go in peace.

Billy also tells Jack about a talk he had with Adam where Adam offered to trade some information he has on Tucker that Tucker doesn’t want anyone to find out about because it very damaging to him.

Tucker and Ashley argue because she isn’t ready to let go of Jabot yet.

Victor listens to Nate’s assessment of the SNA business plan and later calls Adam, Nick, and Sharon to a meeting at the ranch. Victor tells them that he has decided to merge SNA with Newman Media. Adam asks Victor why he changed his mind to merge SNA with Newman Media.

Finn and Alexis go to a support meeting and, after the meeting, they talk privately about Gregory’s condition.  Finn feels guilty that he didn’t notice the symptoms of his dad’s ALS. Alexis makes Finn realize that his dad didn’t want him to put his life on hold to focus on his ALS, that is why he didn’t tell him about his condition.  Gregory’s doctor tells him that he shouldn’t drive a car anymore. The doctor also says he needs to wear leg braces. The doctor also recommends Gregory wear splints on his hands when he is at home to keep his
hands stable.

Anna and Dante think that Pikeman is threatening to hurt Charlotte in order to force Valentine to set up Sonny and they are determined to find proof.

Dex continues to follow Austin and overheard a conversation between Austin and Ava where Austin tells Ava that Mason is going to give the flash drive to the boss today and their nightmare will be over soon.

Carly goes to visit Drew in Bentonville and Drew tells Carly how he saved Chris’s life. Carly and Drew see Mason arrive at the jail and wonders what he is doing there. Mason talks to someone in the prison yard and thanks him for taking time to see them. Austin is brought by a prison guard to stand next to Mason. Austin is surprised to be meeting with Cyrus.

Summer tells Kyle it’s time to talk about their divorce. Nick has a talk with Kyle to see if there is a way to persuade Kyle to forgive Summer. Kyle tells Nick that he can’t forgive Summer and he wants to get a divorce. Summer cries in her room about the end of her marriage but puts on brave face when Kyle comes to talk about getting lawyers and making it a friendly divorce.

Victoria has a talk with Kyle to find out if he trusts Audra. Victoria tells Kyle the details of the scandal Audra covered up for Tucker. Victoria thinks she has an ally in Kyle, but he later tells Audra Victoria doesn’t trust her and she needs to
find a way to gain her trust. Nate tells Audra not to count on him if she ever gets in trouble.

Victoria agrees to go away with Nate for the weekend.

Victor calls Nate to hear his thoughts on the McCall Kirsten merger. Nikki warns Victor not to use Nate as a threat to keep Adam in line because it will only make things worse with Adam, but Victor insists that he knows what he is doing.

Adam and Sharon insist that they must do something to get SNA Media out from under Victoria’s thumb because Victor wants them to fail. Nick disagrees and later tells Sally he is worried if they take on Victor it will not end well.

Eddie talks to Tracy and tells her he overheard her tell Olivia she wanted to be committed. Tracy tells Eddie that Olivia told her she would never commit him and she is the only person who can have him committed. Tracy tells Eddie that she is Ned’s mother and she will never stop fighting for him.

Carly accepts Sony’s offer to arrange for Drew to get out of solitary confinement early.

Molly and Kristina argue because Kristina wonders why Molly used a surrogate service when she offered to be her surrogate. Molly admits to Kristina that she wouldn’t feel like the baby would be a gift from her and she would never let her and TJ forget it. Kristina tells Molly she never knew she was such a selfish person.

Gregory finally tells Finn about his diagnosis of ALS and Finn tells him he will be with him every step of the way.Gregory asks Finn to tell Chase about his ALS.

Dante tells Anna that the ELQ security cameras show Valentin never went to ELQ. Dante also tells Anna that there was never a water main break the night Valentin said he went to ELQ. Anna overheard Valentin talking to Martin and he sees Martin give Valentin some papers. Anna looks at the papers while Valentin is in the shower.

“Battle of the Decades” Review on by Eva 8/17/2023

This show is a nostalgic look at different decades of cooking starting with the year 2002.

Two chefs from different generations team up to cook. In the first round, the teams have to cook a classic dish using gadgets and ingredients from the year assigned to them. The second round sees the chefs putting their spin on a dish that is viral on the internet. One team is eliminated in each round. The remaining team of two is split up and the two chefs who were once a team put their modern spin on a classic dish. The show has three judges from different generations. The winning chef wins $10,000. The show is hosted by amiable former “All My Children” star and Hallmark movie vet Jonathan Bennett.

The show is fun to watch because the show includes classic commercials, as well as trivia questions from the year which the episode is focused on.

The show airs on the Food Network on Mondays and can be streamed on Max. I give the show 5 out of 5 stars.

Brook Lynn takes Tracy to a luau and, after drinking a few Mai Tais, Tracy tells Brook Lynn that she wants to buy Deception because she misses Luke since he died and she needs something to occupy her time.

Dante figures out that Cody wants people to think he is crazy so he can be sent to Fern Cliff so he can help Sasha.

Felicia asks Mac for a job at y the police station, but he thinks she should look for a job at the hospital.

Molly invites her family to her place to tell them she and TJ have chosen a surrogate. The only person not invited to hear the news is Kristina, but she hears the news from TJ at the hospital. Kristina is upset and heads to Molly’s place to talk to her.

Gregory is making bracelets with Violet when he has hand tremors again. Violet heads to her room to get a clasp for her bracelet and Gregory stands up to pick some of the bracelet beads and falls when he loses his balance. Violet returns from her room and is worried when she sees Gregory has fallen. Gregory gets up and Violet wants to call Finn and Elizabeth but Gregory tells her not to bother Finn and Elizabeth on their date. Violet meets Finn at the door and tells him that grandpa fell and she is worried about him. Finn sees Gregory as hands tremble as he tries to pick up the bracelet beads and Gregory tells Finn he has terrible news to tell him.

Sally tells Adam that Victor doesn’t want to have a fashion division of Newman Enterprises because he has to keep an eye on him and Nick while they run the new company. Sally makes it clear that she doesn’t need his help to get a job.

Ashley wonders why Tucker went to Audra’s room last night. Tucker tells Ashley about the scandal with the singer and Adam blackmailing Audra.

Diane persuades Jack to sign a post nuptial agreement that says if they divorce Diane will leave with what she had before they married. Jack sends a copy of the agreement to Ashley and Tucker reads it and says it is a standard agreement.

Tucker and Ashley decide to move out of the Abbott house and find their own place.

Connor opens up to Billy and tells him he has been having nightmares. Connor tells Billy that kids bully him about his parents. Connor plans to run away but is stopped by Sally when he gets to the park. Sally calls Adam to tell him Connor is at the park. Sally talks to Connor and advises him to talk to his parents about his problems. Sally takes Connor back to Crimson Lights where Connor tells Adam and Chelsea he wants to live with his grandma Anita and go to school there.

Trina gets her job back at Ava’s art gallery because she misses working with Ava.

Esme gets jealous as she watches Trina and Spencer play with Ace at the Metro Court pool. Once Trina leaves to go visit Portia, Esme starts playing with Ace at the pool.

Willow and Michael get good news from Dr. Randolph that she is well brought to go out and she doesn’t have to stay
in the house. Dr. Randolph tells Willow she can walk for exercise, but she isn’t ready to return to work yet.

Cody tells Sam she thinks Sasha is being drugged by Gladys so she can remain her legal guardian and she needs her help. Sam tells Cody they need proof of what Gladys is doing to Sasha. Cody goes to the police station to talk to Dante and Mac about helping Sasha. Gladys is already there and gives Cody a restraining order to stay away from Sasha. Cody accuses Gladys of drugging Sasha so she can take her money. Cody tells Gladys he will make her pay. Gladys wants Mac to arrest Cody, but Mac persuades her not to press charges against Cody because then they would have to go investigate his accusations against her.

Dr. Montague has nurse Mandy taken off Sasha’s case because she thinks someone is giving Sasha drugs that are not listed on her chart. Nurse Mandy later hears Sasha scream and looks into Sasha’s room and sees Dr. Montague give Sasha an injection.

Dex watches as Nanny Betty talks to Mason and Austin at the hospital and Betty gives Mason the flash drive with the fake information about Pikeman on it.

Mrs. Wu offers to buy the Savoy from Curtis but Marshall offers to run the club for Curtis until he has finished his rehabilitation.

Billy and Victoria argue about sending Johnny and Katie to boarding school. Victoria admits to Billy that she isn’t sure she can trust Nate and that is why she wants to send Johnny and Katie back to boarding school.

Victoria talks to Nate later and he tells her he went to talk to Victor and explained his reasons for helping Audra. Nate also tells Victoria he is falling in love with her and nothing is more important to him then their relationship.

Sally and Sharon persuade Adam and Nick to put aside their disagreements and concentrate on building their new company. Sharon, Nick, and Adam decide to change the name of the company to SNA Media using the first letter of their names. Victor tells Sally there will never be a fashion division at Newman Enterprises because he has to keep Adam and Nick on task while they run their new company.

Traci: If you’re asking about ashley, she’s a little nervous. She’s maybe more nervous than I’ve ever seen her.

Jack: Well, that seems appropriate when you’re about to make the biggest mistake of your life.

Traci: Oh, stop. You promised. I’m– these are good nerves. These are bride-to-be nerves. Our sister is genuinely excited and happy, and we should be happy for her. I mean, who knows? Maybe this really is her time.

Tucker: I understand your skepticism, victor, it’s– I get it, it’s, uh… but you’re wrong this time, actually, you know. She does love me and I love her. Sticking it to– to Diane and jack is icing on the wedding cake.

Victor: You’re forgetting who you’re talking to. I know that you and ashley bought a company in Europe.

[ Tucker scoffing ] As the foundation for a new business.

Tucker: Wow. Man, you never cease to amaze me. We thought we had a tight lid on that one. Not even jack knows about it.

Victor: And he’s not even a silent partner in it.

Tucker: Mm-mm. Score one for you.

Victor: So… I’ve known Ashley for a while. She’s not going to sever ties with jabot. She simply is doing this in order to wrest control away from jack. You’re just along for the ride.

Tucker: Yeah. You might be right. On the other hand, you might be wrong,

[ Victor chuckling ] But I got a wedding–

Victor: You’re talking in riddles. Be careful, son.

Molly and TJ interview surrogacy candidates and decide to pick Andrea Gates (played by Lily Ann Harrison daughter of Gregory Harrison who plays Gregory Chase).

Brook Lynn tells Nina she went to visit Sasha at Fern Cliff and she was in bad shape. Gregory has lunch with Chase and Brook Lynn and Gregory’s hand tremors but Brook Lynn and Chase don’t notice it. Gregory later tells Alexis he is afraid he is running out of time.

Nanny Betty downloads the fake Pikeman file Sonny left for her on his computer while Dex hides and watches her do it.

Victor tells Nick what Adam did and Nick goes over to Adam’s place to argue with him. Adam tells Nick he doesn’t care what he thinks about him he will do things his way. Adam also tells Nick that Sally still loves him and will realize that and get back together with him.

Victoria and Nikki advise Victor to let Adam go. Victor considers changing his relationship with Adam. Adam tells Audra he will eventually get Newman Media.

Primetime TV Review: Superfan

Superfan is hosted by Nate Burleson (CBS Morning) and Keltie Knight (E! News correspondent).

The first episode featured Superfans of rapper and actor LL Cool J. The contestants play several different trivia games that test how much they know about LL Cool J and, after each round, one contestant is eliminated. The final round has two contestants, and the winner of the show is chosen by the home audience via Twitter voting. The winner of the show gets a day with LL Cool J in which they get backstage passes to his concert, exclusive concert merchandise, and access to one of his recording sessions. The show will feature different stars over seven of the remainder of its eight-episode first season.

In my opinion the show has a lot of problems, the major one is its too boring and slow. The show would be much better if they would just play trivia games to eliminate contestants and get rid of the Twitter vote at the end, there is no need for it.

The other problem is they have two hosts. This game show doesn’t need two hosts. If you have insomnia this show will put you to sleep. The only thing that I like about this show is that the star that is featured in the episode sings a song.

I give this show a 2 out of 5 you can watch the show on CBS or stream it on Paramount+.

Audra tells Victor and Nikki all the details about the McCall Industries music label singer who slept with several underage girls and how Adam used the information about how she covered up the scandal to make her try to persuade Victor to merge Adustus with Newman Media. Victor is very angry with Adam and orders him to destroy all the information about the scandal because it can’t get out to the press. Victor tells Adam that he is hanging on by a thread because he can’t fire him because of all the new investors he got for Adustus.

Nate also gives Victoria all about the scandal which Adam used to blackmail Audra. Nate suggests to Victoria it is time she kick Adam out of the company. Nikki tells Victor that it’s time he give up on Adam.

Ashley refuses Jack’s wedding gift of a Jabot buyout and gives her all the My Beauty patents she brought with her when My Beauty merged with Jabot. Billy stages an argument with Jack for Jack and Ashley’s benefit.

Chelsea tells Billy that his act makes her afraid he will return to the man he used to be years ago. Billy assures Chelsea she has nothing to worry about it…is an act.

Traci is angry with Jack and demands that he stop what he is doing with Billy before he tears the family apart again.

Tucker and Ashley get to their hotel room and Ashley tells Tucker she loves him, and they dance.

Sharon: Oh, my gosh. Thank you for bringing aria by. I swear she has gotten bigger since the last time I saw her.

Mariah: Since yesterday?

Sharon: Well, babies change quickly.

Tessa: If you’re trying to imply that you want to see aria every day, message received.

Mariah: The only way to get her to settle down is by driving her around now. So, once she was conked out, we figured we would risk it and come grab a cup of coffee, and also, check in on you.

Tessa: But everyone needs to stay quiet, so she’ll stay asleep.

Mariah: That is a very good point. I mean, Sharon and Nick, great. Sharon, nick and Adam? Maybe not so great. And once upon a time, Adam was obsessed with Sharon and now I guess it– it’s sally, but who knows what’s next for that guy?

[ Both laughing ] But on the flip side, how stressful and uncomfortable is it gonna get at Jabot?

Tessa: Hmm. I know that you want to look at every angle, assess every risk, but you’re not gonna have complete information to make this decision. You’re gonna have to trust your judgment. What do you think will give you the best chance at success and happiness?
