Recap written by Suzanne

Willow confided in Nina about sharing a kiss with Drew during the Independence Day fireworks. Nina advised her to treat it as a minor lapse and not disclose it to Michael, suggesting that revealing the incident might cause unnecessary harm. Later, Nina confronted Drew, expressing her anger over the kiss and accusing him of betraying Michael’s trust.

Meanwhile, Anna obtained a satellite phone containing evidence against Valentin and Pikeman. Although Jason urged her to hand it over to the authorities, Anna insisted on holding onto it for the time being, indicating that she had her own plans for the information.

Finn: Now the kids are gone for the day. Why don’t we take this back to the bedroom?

Steffy: You read my mind.

Finn: Yeah?

Steffy: Yeah.

[Laughter]

[Phone chiming]

Steffy: No.

Finn: [Laughing] I’m on call.

Steffy: Oh, no.

Finn: It could be the hospital. Could be the hospital. Hold on a second.

Steffy: Fine.

Finn: Okay. It’s just my mom. She said hollis from il giardino died.

Steffy: What?

Brooke: What?

Ridge: Nothing, I just like you in the office more. Gives us a chance to collaborate.

Brooke: Yeah, I like all this attention.

Ridge: Mm-hmm.

Brooke: I think we should collaborate more on this special project.

Ridge: [Laughing]

Hope: Can I interrupt?

Ridge: Hey.

Brooke: What is it, sweetie?

Hope: It’s hollis.

Ridge: Hollis, from your dad’s restaurant?

Brooke: What about him?

Hope: He passed away.

Sheila: Hey.

Deacon: I… just can’T… I can’t believe he’s gone.

Sheila: I know. I’m never gonna get that image out of my mind, I… just seeing hollis laying there on the floor.

Deacon: You’re in shock. I guess I was, too. I’M… babe, I’m sorry you had to find him like that.

Sheila: It was horrible.

Deacon: Yeah. So sudden. Just like tom. Now they’re both gone.

Bill: Mmm.

Poppy: [Chuckling]

Bill: This is nice.

Poppy: Hmm.

Bill: We didn’t get much time together over the weekend.

Poppy: Well, there’s just, you know, a lot happening, and luna and I are still getting settled in.

Bill: You’re happy, though, right?

Poppy: Yes, bill. Of course I’m happy. This is the happiest I’ve ever been.

Bill: Good, because you seem a bit, um, I don’t know, preoccupied lately. And you got in late the other night, which is totally fine, of course, but you would tell me if there was something going on, wouldn’t you?

Brooke: Hollis is dead?

Hope: Yes.

Brooke: Oh, my god.

Ridge: Are you sure about this?

Hope: Yeah, I just found out.

Brooke: Oh, that’s horrible.

Hope: I feel awful for him and his family.

Ridge: What happened? Are there any details?

Deacon: You know, hollis helped me build this business. Trusted that guy with my life. And I just, um… I don’t know, I– I just can’t imagine running this place without him.

Sheila: You were good to him, deacon. And you were a kind friend, a wonderful boss.

Deacon: He was the best. I mean, that guy was just… the hardest-working, most loyal employee. Then he’S… he’s suddenly gone. What the hell happened?

Finn: I’m gonna find out what’s going on.

Steffy: Yeah.

Finn: Hey, mom. Hey, I got you here with– with steffy on speaker. What-what happened with hollis? What’s-what’s going on?

Li: We still don’t know what caused it, but we’re running labs, including a toxicology test.

Finn: You’re… you’re at the hospital now?

Li: In the morgue.

Finn: Okay, I’ll be right over.

Bill: You seem like you’re carrying a weight on your shoulders, like you’re stressed out, troubled by something.

Poppy: Um, oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize I was coming across that way.

Bill: I hope you’re not having doubts about us. Because we’re together now, a family. And I will always take care of you and luna.

Luna: Mom?

Poppy: Honey, what is it?

Luna: My friend hollis. He’s gone. I’m never gonna see him again. It’s very unusual.

Finn: Well, I wonder

Finn: And here we thought we were gonna have a quiet morning.

Steffy: This is so heartbreaking about hollis. This isn’t gonna sink in.

Finn: Well, I wonder what the autopsy will show.

Steffy: Oh, gosh. I don’t want my brain to just go wild right now, especially if there was some kind of foul play. I mean, it happened at il giardino, finn.

Finn: Well, look, we’re gonna find out some more soon.

Steffy: It’s just so rare for a guy who was so young to just die unexpectedly.

Finn: Yeah, it’s, um… it’s very unusual.

Steffy: Well, if you learn anything, just get back to me, okay?

Finn: Yeah, I’ll keep you posted. I love you.

Steffy: I love you.

Hope: I’m still waiting on more details.

Ridge: More details? We have no details. Did your dad not say anything?

Hope: Well, no, he’s going through a lot right now, and I didn’t want to bombard him with a million questions.

Brooke: It’s just frightening to think how quickly things can change.

Ridge: There you go. Can’t take even a minute for granted.

Brooke: Glad I got to know him, even if it was that small little date.

Ridge: Yeah, just one dinner. But I’m sure you made an impression. How can you not?

Brooke: He was sweet. He was really a nice guy. He was very polite. He was very respectful. He didn’t deserve to die.

Finn: This just doesn’t make any sense. Hollis was fine, and then he just… just keels over.

Sheila: Hey, I know that this is hard to accept.

Finn: I mean, did I miss something? You know, were there… clues pointing to this? I mean, I know we’ve been slammed and everything, you know, with tom, but…

Sheila: Deacon, none of this is your fault.

Finn: None of it’s my fault– I’m the boss, sheila. I run this place. I should be more in touch with my crew. I mean… I should be the guy that they feel like they can come to with any issues. And hollis was… I mean, he was fun, right? But he wasn’t a partier. The guy ate clean. He worked out all the time. I wasn’t aware of any health issues he had. Did you… did you notice anything off about him?

Sheila: No. Just a mystery.

Finn: Two of my employees have died on me recently, and I have no idea what the hell happened.

Luna: I was just with hollis the other night. I mean, we were laughing and joking around.

Bill: Come here. Sorry about your friend.

Luna: It’s just… it’s just not fair. I mean, hollis had his whole life ahead of him, and there was still so much that he wanted to do.

Poppy: I know it’s hard, sweetheart, but your dad and i are here for you, okay?

Bill: Of course we are. Always.

Poppy: And hollis would not want you to be upset.

Bill: I hate to say it, but we might want to stay away from il giardino for a while. They’re having a hell of a run of bad luck.

Finn: Have you spoken with pathology?

Li: Yes. Just waiting for the toxicology report.

Finn: This is just– this is too surreal.

Li: Not fun when you know the deceased personally.

Finn: But he was an active guy with no known medical condition.

Li: Yeah, well, if we learn anything as physicians…

Finn: It’s to never make assumptions, I get that, mom. But you have to admit, I mean, this is an extraordinary case.

Li: Yeah, very shocking.

Finn: You were cheated, hollis, your life was cut way too short.

Li: Goodbye, hollis. I’m sorry for what happened to you. You can feel it,

Hope: Hollis was a big part of my father’s life, and not just in terms of managing the restaurant, but also because he was a positive influence on him. I think he grounded my dad.

Brooke: Deacon was lucky to have him.

Hope: He was always supportive, he was a good friend, and he was part of his accomplishments.

Ridge: I’m so sorry for interrupting you guys. Can we please talk about the giant elephant in the room? Two people died at your dad’s restaurant in just a few weeks.

Steffy: You talking about hollis? Something is up. It’s like first that guy dies, and now hollis at il giardino? There’s no way that this is a coincidence.

Deacon: This just doesn’t make any sense. First tom, then hollis. I wonder who’s next.

Poppy: Okay, well, your aunt li is overseeing the postmortem exam.

Luna: Stop, I don’t wanna hear that. I don’t wanna think about hollis that way.

Poppy: Oh, I’m sorry, baby, but your aunt texted me, and I thought that it would bring you comfort to know that she and finn are with him right now.

Luna: No, this is not normal. None of this is normal. For so many people to be dying in the same place.

Poppy: I know, it’s horrible.

Bill: Um… look… it’s important to let your feelings out, but it’s also important to try and keep some perspective. I mean, these losses are tragic, but maybe we could honor them by being grateful for what we have. Our health, our safety, and… and the love that we have for each other.

Poppy: And it’s important that we count our blessings. And our biggest blessing is you, bill. I adore you. I adore my life here with you and our beautiful daughter. Watching you embrace being luna’s father, accepting us into the spencer family, and welcoming us into this incredible home. It’s a dream come true.

Bill: For me, too.

Poppy: Um… I’m sorry, but, uh… I have to run. Um, there’s some place that I need to be.

Li: Except for minor contusions.

Finn: Well, that was likely caused by hollis collapsing to the ground.

Li: Nothing stands out. Body shows no abnormal signs of trauma.

[Phone chime]

Finn: Yeah, well, I suspect the tox screen will answer a lot of the questions.

Li: Hm, yeah, should be ready soon.

Finn: Until then, the manner of death remains undetermined.

[Phone chime] Hey, you, uh… that’s like the third time your phone went off. You wanna get that?

Li: Nope.

Finn: Are you sure? It sounds important.

Li: Yeah, it’s just your father. He keeps calling and texting me.

Finn: Wait, dad? Why? What does he want?

April: Doctor finnegan.

Both: Yeah.

April: Sorry, finn. Better luck next time. The lab results you requested.

Li: Thanks, april.

April: Sure thing.

Finn: Toxicology report.

Li: Mm-hm. What’s it say?

Scout is protected by

simparica trio

Steffy: Finn is with li at at the hospital. Li is overseeing hollis’s autopsy.

Hope: So, do you know what happened?

Steffy: I was gonna ask you the same thing.

Brooke: We have no idea.

Ridge: We’re in the dark.

Steffy: This is your father’s restaurant, I thought you’d know something.

Hope: All I know is that hollis has passed away. I don’t know of anyone else who’s gotten hurt.

Steffy: Gotten hurt? So someone did this to him?

Brooke: Not that we’re aware of.

Ridge: It’s very unsettling, all of it.

Hope: I know. Hollis was such a positive man. He was so full of life. Now…

Brooke: We don’t know how something like this could have happened.

Steffy: I have my suspicions.

Hope: What are you implying?

Steffy: Multiple deaths at il giardino. Only one person comes to mind. Sheila.

Sheila: I– I hate seeing you like this. I know it’s weighing heavy on you.

Deacon: You know, hollis was, um… was like a brother to me, brother I never had. And the guy made this place feel like a home. You know, he charmed all the customers, especially the ladies.

[Chuckling] Made strangers feel welcome so they’d want to come back.

Sheila: Well, clearly, the two of you were close, and he loved working here with you.

Deacon: I just– I can’t help but think that… that I’m partially responsible.

Sheila: You? Why?

Deacon: I mean, there should have been signs, right? Was he sick? Was he in trouble? I don’t know.

Sheila: Honey, there is no way to tell what is happening to someone behind closed doors.

Deacon: I know, but if you– if you looked at hollis, I mean, you know, he didn’t seem like he had a care in the world, you know, buzzing around here the way that he did. Tom… he’s such a sweet guy. He helped me save your life. He said he was sober. He– he said he was turning his life around. I mean, how could I be so clueless?

Sheila: Deacon… there’s nothing that you could have done to change any of this. Whatever was going to happen to hollis, it was going to happen anyway.

Deacon: I haven’t had too many friends in my life. Tom and hollis were my friends. I miss them.

Sheila: I know you do. I’m really sorry for your loss.

Bill: How are you feeling?

Luna: I’m really, really sad.

Bill: I know. It’s gonna take some time to heal. We’ll get through it together.

Bill: Any idea where your mom ran off to?

Finn: What does it say?

[Knocking on door]

Poppy: Li? Finn?

Li: Penelope, what are you doing here? I said I’d text–

Poppy: Yeah, I know, I know. But, um… luna is beside herself over the loss of her friend.

Finn: Yeah, we’re all in a state of disbelief.

Poppy: Okay, I am sure, but as a mother, I’m feeling kind of powerless here, so I thought it wouldn’t hurt if I just stopped by and maybe try to get her some answers. Um… do we know how hollis died?

Li: Hollis didn’t die of natural causes.

Poppy: Oh, he didn’t?

Li: No. Finn and I just received the toxicology report. Hollis was drugged. Drugged, poppy. And I know exactly who did it.

Days Nitpicks & Flubs For The Week Of July 8, 2024

Nitpicks & Flubs

by Michele & Cheryl

Eric

Monday

It was obvious that Eric wasn’t talking to Holly on the phone. He didn’t give Holly a chance to respond to some of the things he said before he spoke again.

Gabi was in prison when Sloan switched Nicole’s paternity test so she shouldn’t have known she did it.

Nicole planned to leave the DiMera mansion without taking Holly with her.

Nicole didn’t have Jude’s stroller with her when she left the mansion, but she had it when she went to the airport.

Tuesday

If Gabi was so worried about Arianna, she should move out to wherever Will and Sonny are living with her this week.

Brady referred to Eric as his brother as if Theresa wasn’t related to him.

EJ had the fireplace going in the summertime. Salem may be a fictional town, but it’s still summertime.

Alex conveniently needed Theresa to sign the prenup when she wanted to take Tate to the airport.

Wednesday

Leo wasn’t at the press conference, but he knew that Gabi exposed EJ at the conference.

Xander could have ordered a glass of water instead of drinking out of Leo’s glass. Why do the joggers insist on drinking out of Leo’s glass?

Thursday

Connie conveniently found Bobby’s room at Bayview.

How did Leo know where Marlena lived?

Rafe and Jada were able to find their way to the plot where Abby was buried without anyone taking them there. If anyone has been in a cemetery, you know it’s hard to find plots without any help.

Who was watching Chad’s kids? Doug and Julie were with Kayla, and Chad was with Jack at the cemetery.

Friday

If Ava didn’t want Gabi to know that she slept with Stefan, why did she mention it so freely?

Why would Li tell Connie where he lived when they only went out on one date?

Gabi didn’t hear Kristen and Ava talking about Stefan.

Connie didn’t have blood on her dress after she killed Li. When Bobby saw her there was blood on her dress.

Connie knows too much about people in Salem when she never interacts with them. She conveniently knew Gill and that he was Ava’s boss.

Connie was hidden behind a door so she shouldn’t have seen Gill with Li. It should have been an audio flashback and not a visual one.

Marlena needs to lose her license since she couldn’t tell that Bobby was pretending to be Everett.

Days Opinions For The Week Of July 8, 2024

Opinion Article

by Michele & Cheryl

Connie and LI

It was a week of flashbacks. For some reason, the writers drowned the episodes with flashbacks. Most of the week was filled with flashbacks of Connie and Bobby. Connie kept thinking about Li and everything that happened after the murder. Bobby flashed back to seeing Connie after she murdered Li. We know the writers wanted to show the audience what happened when Li was killed, but they didn’t have to go overboard with the flashbacks. There were only two days out of the week that didn’t feature flashbacks which means there were too many shown.

Speaking of Li’s murder, we felt completely ripped off by the outcome. We didn’t really care who killed him in the first place, but the writers made the killer someone who was on for about two episodes. Connie went out with Li one time and suddenly became obsessed with him. The woman who plays Connie won a role on the show and became part of a major story for the week. It was such a waste of time because she’s an insignificant character. Thankfully we didn’t invest much interest in the mystery, but other fans might have liked the story. It’s a letdown for the killer to be a minor character. Bobby’s involvement in the story makes even less sense. Let’s get to that now.

Bobby suddenly had the answer to who really killed Li. He conveniently saw Connie in the park the night she stabbed Li. Connie was stupid enough to admit out loud that she stabbed Li. It’s convenient how he knew to keep that information to himself until he approached Jada with it. There was no need for him to know that information when he wasn’t in town at the time it happened. The writers clearly want to make Bobby’s role bigger by tying him to Li’s murder and to Connie. His role doesn’t need to be any bigger than it is. He and Connie are now in cahoots with each other. Connie suddenly realized that he was Jada’s ex and heard them talking about the investigation. She put two and two together to figure out that he was the one who saw her in the park. Connie suddenly knows everything about everyone in Salem. She told Bobby that Jada went home to Rafe every night. Connie had no way of knowing about Jada and Rafe, but she threw them up in his face like she did. She offered to take care of Rafe if he stopped talking about the murder investigation. Bobby jumped at the opportunity. We’ll get into that in the next section.

As we said, Bobby jumped at the opportunity to take Connie’s deal. He did his part by pretending that he was Everett again to get out of Bayview. As Everett, he wouldn’t have any memories of what Bobby saw in the park. His plan worked, and Marlena made sure he was released. Marlena clearly needs to think about getting out of psychiatry if she couldn’t tell that Bobby was pretending to be Jude. On a side note, she didn’t cure John of the brainwashing that Konstantin did to him. She allowed Bobby to get out of Bayview. Connie had to get rid of Rafe. She is the town stalker, so she found him at the cemetery to stab him. The woman has lost her mind and needs to be stopped before she goes crazy. We’re surprised that she didn’t target Gabi since Li loved her.

Jack was upset about Abby’s body being exhumed. It was strange that he wouldn’t want to know if it was possible that his daughter was alive. For some reason, he had a hard time believing that Abby could be alive. Did he forget that he was presumed dead at one point? His organs were donated, and he came back to life. There are several people in Salem who have come back to life, but he had trouble believing it. Kayla had trouble believing it too. She just came back to life but thought Abby had to be dead. We think that the citizens have taken a selective amnesia pill because they forgot that people come back from the dead on a daily basis in that town.

As Days fans know, the truth about Jude’s paternity has finally been revealed. Gabi announced that Eric was the father of Nicole’s baby at EJ’s press conference. She was supposed to keep quiet about the truth, but she told it anyway. Gabi claimed that she did it because Eric had a right to know the truth. We have a hard time believing that. If that were true, she would have called Eric and told him the truth. She wouldn’t have announced it publicly. Gabi clearly forgot that Stefan asked her not to say anything. She had the gall to be smug about revealing something that would make EJ target them. Stefan showed his anger towards Gabi, and we cheered him on for doing that. Gabi had the nerve to get mad because she thought he was siding with EJ. Stefan had the right to side with EJ because she violated a trust. He shouldn’t have told her the truth in the first place because she didn’t hesitate to open her mouth. We are hoping that EJ goes after Gabi for opening her big mouth. EJ needs to go after her with everything he has left because he has nothing to lose, so he can destroy her without blinking twice.

The confrontation between Nicole and EJ happened this week. Nicole found out the truth (thanks to Gabi), and they had it out at the mansion. EJ tried his best to explain why he did what he did, but she didn’t want to hear what he had to say. She told him that he didn’t get to say that he loved her again. Nicole had a right to be upset, but she always forgets that she has done things too. She forgot that she cheated on him to conceive Jude in the first place. EJ felt like she would run to Eric if she knew the truth, and he was right. We were surprised that Nicole didn’t yell at EJ. She had a subdued performance. We’re not sure what we expected, but we thought it would be bigger than that. Nicole went running to Eric and forgot about Holly. She didn’t tell Holly the truth about Jude. EJ had to tell her the truth. Nicole proved that she was only worried about Jude and didn’t care about Holly at all. She showed up to give him the rings and to get a divorce. It must have been too much to ask that she remember to take her daughter with her.

Esther: Hi there, what can I get you?

Claire: Um, I’m actually not sure. What would you recommend?

Esther: Well, the double mocha latte is very popular and so is the butter pecan swirl. Oh, and the caramel macchiato. And you give it some zhuzh, extra whipped cream, rainbow sprinkles, and you’re good to go.

Claire: Rainbow sprinkles?

Esther: Yeah, you only live once, right?

Kyle: Hey, Esther. I’ll have what she’s having.

**********************************

Esther: Two drip coffees, no whipped cream, no foam, no chocolate sprinkles and no… fun.

[ Kyle and Claire chuckle ]

Claire: I promise you, I will order something extra decadent next time.

Esther: Okay. I’ll hold you to that.

Claire: Thank you. So much for living large. You could have ordered something a little bit more interesting, though.

Kyle: This is exactly what I needed. You care to join me?

Claire: I don’t know.

Kyle: Well, if you’re worried about summer showing up, we could sit at two different tables and just sort of yell a conversation back and forth. Sound good?

Claire: It sounds loud.

Kyle: Yeah, one table it is then, if you have time.

Claire: I do. But do you? I mean, shouldn’t you be at the office?

Audra: So, uh, what did you think about the article?

Nate: You’re officially an A-list mover and shaker, Audra. I’m impressed.

Audra: As you should be.

Nate: I also read the press release. You know, for a woman who’s so focused on every detail, it’s funny. You failed to mention that you’d be partnering up with another ex-lover. Fascinating.

*********************************************

Heather: Wh– why? Why would I want to leave the man of my dreams and our wonderful daughter and our beautiful, if slightly underfunded at the moment, life? Come on. We’ve worked too hard to get here. There’s absolutely nowhere else I’d rather be than sitting next to you in a park, drinking coffee on a work day.

Daniel: Well, it is pretty perfect. Minus the no jobs part.

Heather: Yeah. Minus that. But otherwise…

Daniel: You know, we could take these coffees and go back to the apartment. There are certain perks to being unemployed

Diane: Do you really think Victor’s behind this?

Jack: It would explain his sudden interest in Kyle’s future.

Diane: But this seems extreme, even for Victor.

Jack: No, this is classic Victor. The powerful puppet master pulling all the strings.

Diane: True, but Newman hasn’t been in the cosmetics business for years. I mean, would he really go out and buy a company, just to give Kyle a job and stick it to you?

Jack: Now, keep in mind, he’s sticking it to Tucker as well by bringing Audra on board. No, this is classic Victor. He’s taking care of both of his enemies with one grand gesture.

Diane: And he’s using our son as a weapon.

Jack: Because he knows it would drive me crazy. God, we’ve been here before, luring Kyle away from his family. I should have seen this coming.

Diane: And you know what set happened

Victor: What are you doing in here?

Jack: I warned you. My family is off limits!

Phyllis: At what point is another espresso a bad idea?

Nick: At the point when you get so wound up about Summer, I can start to see you twitch.

Phyllis: Oh, I’m not– I’m not wound up. I’m not stressed. I’m not. I’m just, I’m thinking methodically. Thinking methodically about all the things we put on the table as to what could really be going on with our daughter.

Nick: Have you got a winner yet?

Phyllis: I do. The last thing we came up with. I think that she is really going for custody for Harrison, or– or thinking about it, rather, because it’s a knee-jerk reaction. Because she’s angry, and maybe a little jealous.

Nick: Okay. Putting yourself in her shoes. Total stretch.

Phyllis: Yeah, but I’m not 100 percent sure. Because also, Nick, she knows Kyle. She knows when he’s distracted. And she knows when he’s reckless. And she knows if he’s going to be a bad influence on their son.

Claire: Grandpa, are you following me around tonight?

Victor: No.

Claire: Because I told you I was fine.

Victor: I came here for a croissant. Now, look at these eclairs. You know, those were your mother’s favorite when she was a child.

Claire: They’re my favorite, too.

Victor: Really?

Claire: Yeah.

Victor: Okay. Well, why don’t we sit over there? There’s something I’d like to discuss with you.

Victor: Mmm. Mm-hmm. Good.

Claire: Do you want to hear something kind of funny?

Victor: What?

Claire: When I was a kid, I thought eclairs were named after me.

Victor: Oh, yeah?

Claire: Mm-hmm.

Victor: Perfect.

Claire: Note to self, don’t eat an eclair on a date.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Jada goes to visit Bobby at Bayview. Bobby jokes with her about joining him for breakfast. Jada tells him this is not a social call as she is there on official police business since he told her if she came back, they could talk about the murder of Li Shin. Bobby thinks back to seeing Connie crying in the park about Li. Jada then warns Bobby that if he doesn’t tell her what he knows, he will never see her again. Bobby then says that he will tell her everything.

Connie cooks breakfast at the apartment for her and her imagination of Li.

Ava goes to see Kristen at the DiMera Mansion. Kristen tells Ava that she will be in charge of recruiting new assets for the company. Ava says she can do that but asks why she couldn’t sign at the office. Kristen explains that she’s having the office deep cleaned from the stench of EJ and asks if there’s a problem. Ava reminds Kristen that Gabi lives here and she’d like to minimize the chance of running in to her since she slept with her husband.

Gabi wakes Stefan up in bed with kisses but he turns away from her. Gabi questions Stefan not wanting to make love to her. Stefan responds that he has a headache caused by her. Gabi argues that they already talked about what happened at the press conference. Stefan states that what happened is that Gabi deliberately blew EJ’s life up when he begged her and she promised him that she wouldn’t say anything about Jude being Eric’s child, but she gleefully announced it to the public. Gabi argues that she never technically promised a thing and questions why they are talking about EJ or talking at all, since she thought Stefan wouldn’t be able to keep his hands off of her after months and months apart. Gabi decides she has a headache now too so she gets out of bed and exits.

Connie’s vision of Li talks about Connie being in a good mood considering she just found out that someone saw her after the murder. Connie says she’s not worried about Bobby since they made an agreement that he wouldn’t tell anybody about her and she would get rid of his romantic rival, Rafe. Her vision of Li asks if she’s going to murder Rafe like she did to him. Connie remarks that what happened to Li was a crime of passion and claims it wasn’t her fault. Connie flashes back to that night with Li and says that if he only said yes to her wanting to date him, things would be so different now.

Rafe goes to see Marlena and says he’s sorry to bother her at home. Marlena says it’s okay as Rafe brings up Jada talking to her about visiting Bobby. Rafe says he knows Marlena can’t tell him what they talked about but asks for her professional opinion on if she thinks Bobby is telling the truth about Li Shin’s murder. Marlena admits it could be a fabrication to get her to come see him again. Rafe agrees and asks if she thinks it’s okay for Jada to be alone with Bobby in his mental state. Marlena responds that from what she’s seen, Bobby isn’t dangerous but Rafe worries that could change. Marlena states that Bayview is a very secure place and doctors are very close by when there are visitors. Marlena adds that someone with mental illness is more likely to be the victim of a crime. Rafe still doesn’t like Jada being alone with Bobby.

Jada asks Bobby again who killed Li Shin. Bobby thinks back to Connie offering to take care of Rafe for him if he keeps her name out of this. Jada asks Bobby again what he saw on the night of Li’s murder. Bobby then begins having a headache and suddenly turns back in to Everett, asking why Jada is calling him Bobby.

Rafe tells Marlena that he knows Jada is more than capable of taking care of herself. Marlena understands Rafe is concerned about her emotionally. Rafe says he knows Jada cares about Bobby and wants to help him while Stephanie believed these visits would cause Everett to re-emerge but it seems to have the opposite effect. Marlena talks about Bobby being determined to protect Everett. Rafe asks if there’s any way of changing that. Marlena says they understand what caused Bobby emerging and now they just want to get Everett back.

Jada tells “Everett” that he’s in Bayview. Everett says last he remembers, he was with her and Stephanie in his room at the Salem Inn and they were talking. Jada tells him to hold tight while she calls someone to tell them that he had a breakthrough.

Connie tells her vision of Li that it all started going wrong when he started seeing Melinda Trask and flashes back to Li turning her down and telling her to get out of his apartment before threatening to call the police which then led to Connie stabbing Li when he turned around.

Kristen tells Ava that the only way Gabi will find out that she slept with Stefan is by overhearing her talking about it. Ava feels it’s uncomfortable to be around Gabi and Stefan together. Kristen says she understands and she’ll never invite her over again. Kristen then tells Ava to just keep her mouth shut about it. Gabi then walks in and asks what she’s keeping her mouth shut about. Kristen claims she has to take a call and exits. Ava then tells Gabi that she’s there because Kristen put her in charge of business affairs at DiMera. Gabi says she hasn’t heard. Ava says they haven’t put out the press release yet. Gabi congratulates Ava. Ava congratulates Gabi too on being let go from prison. Gabi then tells Ava that there is something she needs to talk to her about. Ava asks what it is. Gabi says it’s about her and her husband. Ava asks what about them. Gabi tells Ava that she knows after Gil died, Clyde forced Ava and Stefan to run drugs through the bistro. Ava talks about having no choice since Clyde was threatening her son. Gabi acknowledges that Stefan also felt he had no choice with Clyde threatening her. Gabi tells Ava that she’s grateful to her because she knows she had to make sacrifices to go along with this deal to keep her safe and she’s also grateful that Stefan didn’t have to go through the ordeal alone. Stefan then walks in and asks if he’s interrupting something. Gabi says she was just on her way out and exits the mansion. Stefan then asks Ava what the hell that was about.

Connie tells her vision of Li that it wasn’t her fault, blaming Gabi and Melinda for him rejecting her and that none of this would’ve happened otherwise. Connie flashes back to sending a text to Gabi so that she would find Li’s body and then hiding when Gil Carter showed up and dropped his black book upon seeing Li on the ground. Connie talks about the odds of Gil picking that moment to stop by looking for Ava.

“Everett” tells Jada that he’s just a little disoriented and asks how long he’s been here. Jada says it’s been a few weeks. Everett guesses she was right that he really did have D.I.D. Marlena arrives and tells Everett that it’s so good to see him. Everett doesn’t understand how he ended up here. Marlena explains that his doctors thought he would do better with in patient care. Everett asks if he consented to that. Marlena admits it was involuntary because they were concerned about him and Bobby had taken over. Everett then claims that Bobby’s gone and he’s back, so he’d really like to get out of here.

Stefan questions what the hell Ava is even doing in his house. Kristen returns and reveals that she asked her there because Ava is her friend and employee which Stefan questions. Ava informs him that Kristen just gave her a job. Stefan questions why the hell she would do that. Kristen responds that she can run DiMera however she pleases and she felt that Ava was wasting her talents at the Brady Pub. Stefan argues that in the future, they can keep their business meetings confined to the DiMera offices. Ava confirms that going forward, that is the plan. Stefan then questions what the hell Ava and Gabi were talking about anyway. Ava tells Stefan to relax because she doesn’t want Gabi to find out anymore than he does and they only talked about how they worked together to ensure Gabi’s safety. Ava adds that Gabi said she was grateful that she was there for him to lean on. Kristen jokes that if Gabi only knew how much leaning was going on.

Gabi meets Rafe at the Brady Pub. Rafe asks how she’s doing. Gabi says a lot better than when she was locked up. Rafe tells Gabi to tell Stefan that he needs him to come down to the police station to talk about everything he knew about Jude’s paternity switch. Gabi says that Stefan already told him everything he knows and he’s still pretty pissed at her for what happened at the press conference. Gabi calls it a sore subject so she suggests Rafe reach out to him directly which he agrees to do. Rafe tells Gabi that there is another case they can talk about. Gabi questions if there’s some other crime she’s being falsely accused of. Rafe says no but there is probably something she should know.

Connie tells her vision of Li that she wanted Gabi to get caught standing over his body and she was worried that Gil was going to ruin her whole plan. Connie flashes back to Gil checking Li’s pulse, then deciding he didn’t need this kind of trouble and leaving. Connie points out that if Gil would’ve called an ambulance, Li might still be alive. Her vision of Li asks if she’s going to blame Gil now for what she did. Connie responds that a judge did that and declares that she would’ve gotten away with it if not for Bobby Stein.

Marlena acknowledges that Everett has made a breakthrough but she thinks he should stay a few more days. “Everett” says he appreciates that and he knows he needs more therapy, but says he has a job and a relationship that he misses terribly which are important to him. Everett guesses now that Bobby is gone, he feels like he needs to be in control of his own life again. Marlena says he needs to figure out what trauma caused his D.I.D. in the first place. Everett agrees and claims he’s committed to as many sessions with Marlena as she thinks he needs because he wants to heal, but he feels strongly that he needs to be out in the real world to make that progress. Jada asks if Marlena thinks Everett is a danger to himself or others. Marlena responds that she doesn’t and admits that Everett has made a very persuasive case, so she agrees to sign his release. Everett thanks them for everything.

Stefan tells Kristen to shut up. Kristen tells him to relax as she’s just playing. Stefan is not amused and questions when their business meeting will be done because he’d like it to be before his wife gets back. Ava signs Kristen’s papers so Kristen declares they are done. Kristen then exits on another call. Stefan warns Ava that Kristen hates Gabi and would love to tell her what happened between them. Ava argues that Kristen likes her and just hired her, so it’s not going to happen. Stefan asks what about Harris. Ava states that he’s a man of few words and isn’t in to gossip. Ava adds that Harris also just left Salem. Stefan says he’s sorry to hear that as he knows how much Harris meant to her.

Gabi questions Rafe telling her that Bobby told Jada he knows who killed Li Shin and it wasn’t Gil Carter but he won’t say who it was. Gabi calls it crazy. Rafe says that Bobby is crazy too. Gabi points out that the evidence against Gil is what got her exonerated. Rafe assures that will still be the case and that she’s free. Rafe adds that he doesn’t think Bobby knows anything anyways and that he’s just blowing smoke to spend more time with Jada. Gabi questions why. Rafe says he doesn’t want Gabi to worry, he just didn’t want her to hear it from someone else. Rafe encourages Gabi that she is free now, so it’s time for her to focus on getting her life back.

Connie tells her vision of Li that she got two separate people to take the fall for his murder. Connie points out that Li said Gabi’s name before he died so he wanted her to be responsible too. Her vision of Li suggests maybe he was afraid Gabi was next and was trying to warn her. He warns Connie against trying to hurt Gabi next. Connie says she doesn’t care about Gabi and she can rot in Hell. Connie declares that it’s Bobby Stein that she needs to deal with.

Marlena agrees to talk to the doctors about getting Everett released. He thanks her. Marlena adds that she’s glad he’s receptive to continuing therapy. Everett assures that he’s grateful as she has helped him a lot. Marlena thanks him and tells him to take care as she then exits. Everett tells Jada that he’s grateful to her too for standing by him as he knows it hasn’t been easy. Jada admits she had an ulterior motive for coming today and asks if he remembers talking to her about Li Shin. Everett asks what about him. Jada then says nevermind and tells him not to worry about it and focus on getting well. After Jada exits, Bobby reveals he was faking being Everett and thinks back to his deal with Connie to keep her name out of it and she will take care of Rafe which he says sounds like a plan to him.

Gabi tells Rafe that she doesn’t even know what getting her life back means since she doesn’t have a home or a job and feels like she is starting over. Rafe says he wouldn’t say that, pointing out that she has a husband, a daughter, and her amazing brother who is always on her side. Rafe wishes he could stay longer but says he has to go to the cemetery which Gabi questions. Rafe says if he tells her, it has to stay between them so Gabi asks what’s going on. Rafe says he doesn’t know a lot yet but there’s a slight chance that Abigail DiMera is still alive.

Kristen returns to the living room and asks where Ava went. Stefan says she left and hopefully for good. Kristen asks about Gabi, who Stefan says is out. Kristen questions if there is trouble in paradise. Stefan responds that they will work through it. Kristen doubts that Nicole and EJ will since Gabi dropped a bomb on their marriage. Kristen says she should’ve connected the dots when EJ asked her to hire Melinda that it was all about Jude. Stefan states that he was prepared to take that secret to his grave. Kristen jokes that he couldn’t resist the pillow talk and laughs about how he won’t be telling his other secret. Stefan still can’t believe that Ava told her. Kristen insists that Stefan doesn’t have anything to worry about since he helped her become CEO of DiMera and she doesn’t have a reason to make his life miserable. Stefan says that’s for now. Kristen says even if he did give her a reason, she wouldn’t do that to Ava. Kristen assures that Ava feels really bad about it and wants to stay as far away from Stefan and Gabi as possible.

Ava goes to the Brady Pub and runs in to Gabi, who asks if they can talk. Ava points out that they just talked a few minutes ago. Gabi explains that she was just talking to Rafe, who told her that she needs to get her life back and she thinks Ava might be able to help her with that which Ava questions. Gabi acknowledges that they’ve had issues in the past but with her new job at DiMera, she has business that might interest in her. Gabi brings up her brand Gabi Chic having a lot of interest and it would fill the void left by Basic Black. Gabi asks what Ava thinks about working together.

Jada and Marlena walk outside the Brady Pub. Jada tells Marlena that she trusts her opinion but she hopes that Everett is ready to be out on his own. Marlena feels he no longer needs involuntary hold so he’s entitled to do whatever he wants. Jada mentions that she asked a few questions about Li Shin but he didn’t seem to remember talking to her about it. Marlena questions why Everett would remember it if Bobby had that experience. Jada says she’s happy that Everett is back, but now she has no way of knowing if what Bobby told her about Gil Carter being innocent was true. Jada adds that if it were true, they may never know who really killed Li Shin.

Bobby returns to his room at the Salem Inn and declares that he held up his end of the bargain by faking letting Everett out so he didn’t have to tell Jada that Connie killed Li Shin, so he says Connie better do her part by getting Rafe out of the way.

Rafe calls Paulina from the cemetery and says they finished processing the scene and to send someone down to fill in the grave. Rafe tells her that an open grave can definitely be dangerous as he hangs up. Connie then arrives and stabs Rafe in the back.

Abby went to the Horton house looking for Chad because he wasn’t responding to her texts and calls. Julie told her that he went to Abby’s grave. Kayla hoped that seeing her body would put an end to the speculation that Abby was alive. Julie told her that Jack was upset about the exhumation but agreed to it after seeing Clyde’s video. Kayla declared her dead, but she saw enough miracles to think it was possible for Abby to be alive. Jack and Chad prepared to see Abby’s casket. The crew members opened it, and it was empty. Jack thought they opened the wrong coffin, but Chad insisted it was Abby’s. At the townhouse, Jada asked Marlena if she thought Bobby told the truth about Li’s murder. She wasn’t sure if he was trying to find a way to get back together with her. Marlena wasn’t sure either way. She hoped that Jada could get justice for Li. Connie visited Bobby at the hospital. He flashed back to seeing her in the park after stabbing Li. He wondered if they knew each other. She told him that she overheard Jada tell Rafe that her ex-husband had info about Li’s murder. Connie felt it was important for Li to get justice, so she wanted to know what info he had. Bobby said he couldn’t help her because the info was between him and Jada. Connie wondered if the information was about her.

Rafe went to the cemetery and was surprised to see Abby’s coffin empty. He vowed to make the person who desecrated her coffin pay for what they did. Chad and Jack told him what happened. Rafe wanted the men to take care of the crime scene. He wanted Chad and Jack to process everything, and he would keep in touch with them. Connie remembered someone being behind her at the park, but she didn’t see the person’s face. After listening to the police, she realized Bobby was behind her. Connie told him that she was innocent, but he remembered seeing the blood. He heard her talk about Li. He sarcastically said that was the only thing that tied her to the murder. Connie wanted him to stop talking to Jada about it. Bobby didn’t plan on stopping. Connie told him while he’s stuck at the hospital, Jada went home to Rafe every night. Julie told Kayla and Doug about Abby. Jack and Chad returned to the house. They told them that Abby’s coffin was empty. Everyone wondered if it was a hoax or if Abby really was alive. After everyone left, Doug and Julie got emotional. Julie talked about the little time Chad and Abby had together unlike her and Doug. She told him how much she loved him. Julie talked about their time together. Doug realized he had to change to make himself worthy of her. Julie said he brought out the best in her. He wanted her to kiss him and she gladly obliged. Jack and Chad were at the pub and looked at the grainy footage of the blonde. Chad wanted to find her. Jada and Rafe were at the cemetery and talked about Clyde digging up the coffin to move Abby’s body. They also thought Abby might not have been in there at all. Rafe wanted her to ask Bobby since he’s been helping her with cases. Jada didn’t like what he said, and he apologized to her. Jada told him that she was going to Bayview to see Bobby ID Li’s killer. She hoped Bobby wasn’t lying about what he said. Bobby told Connie that Jada would come around. Connie told him that he’s just a job to her. She made him an offer. If he stopped talking about her, she would take care of Rafe.

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Bonnie talked to Justin about her surprise that Theresa was willing to sign the prenup. She thought that Theresa could still be marrying Alex for his money. They also realized that she could be doing it for the right reasons. Bonnie left to meet with Sarah. Theresa brought up the prenup with Alex. He thought it was a great way to quiet the naysayers. She thought it was a little insulting. Alex wondered if she had second thoughts about signing the prenup. Maggie walked in the room with the prenup. Theresa told him that she was sure about signing it. Chad called Kayla and let her know that Paulina was allowing him to exhume Abby’s body. He thought there might be a snag since he didn’t hear anything else about it. Jack stormed in the room. Chad let Kayla know that he found the snag in the plan and hung up the phone. Jack heard what he was doing from a friend in the city. He demanded answers from Chad. Chad blurted out that Abby could be alive. Jack refused to believe that Abby was alive. Chad showed him the video Clyde gave him of an obscured blonde woman. Theresa noticed that the prenup stated that she would get nothing if she committed adultery. She wondered if Alex was concerned about him cheating on him. He wasn’t worried about it. She wondered what would happen if he cheated. Alex assured her that she wouldn’t have to worry about that. He thought neither of them would have to worry about that. They kissed and then she signed the papers.

Justin thought about holding Alex as a baby when Xander walked in the pub. They talked about Xander turning down Victor’s money. Xander knew Victor didn’t want him to have it or he would have given it to him. He knew that Justin was hurt the most by Victor’s will. Justin thought about the DNA test results from the past that proved he was Alex’s father, he couldn’t believe that Victor kept that secret from him all those years. He told Jack that he needed to have Abby’s body exhumed. Later, Chad and Jack went to the cemetery. Jack thought what they were doing was ghastly. Interview with Lucian-River Chauhan, Abigail Pniowsky and Barry L. Levy

TV Interview!

actors Lucian-River Chauhan and Abigail Pniowsky and creator/EP Barry L. Levy of "Me" on Apple TV+

Interviews with Lucian-River Chauhan, Abigail Pniowsky and Barry L. Levy of “Me” on Apple TV+ by Suzanne 6/26/24 and 6/27/24

This is a fun superhero series with some teenage angst that is very realistic and honest. The actors do a phenomenal job (both young and old). I was glad to interview both the two lead actors, as well as creator/executive producer Barry L. Levy. I hope you can check out this cool new show that premieres July 12th!

Barry L. Levy

Suzanne:  How did you come up with the idea for this show?

Barry: Absolutely. So I have three kids. I have a son named Ben, just like the lead in the show.

Suzanne:  Okay.

Barry: And my oldest are identical twin daughters…

Suzanne:  Oh!

Barry: And then, a couple of years younger, is my son. And so he was always a little tall for his age, and it looked like triplets.  but it was never quite triplets, right?

Suzanne:  Right.

Barry: And he could never figure out who he was supposed to be, because he couldn’t be them. And so it became a conversation… It became a bedtime story. And then it became the story we started working on as a family of, “Who does Ben want… if he could be anyone, who would he want to be in that, if he could be anyone transformed into… {by] shapeshifting?” And that’s really where it came from. And then this series, it’s not traditionally the kind of work that I do, but it was something that I could do as a love letter to my family,  and really capture their lives.

I’m glad that you looked down at a pet because I swear to God, mine is going to drive me nuts. [Laughs]

Suzanne:  Oh, mine has the “zoomies” at the moment. I forgot to give her allergy medicine this morning, I just realized…

Barry: That’s funny.

Suzanne:  So that’s great. And your son doesn’t mind that he’s, sort of, the subject of your show?

Barry: I think he’s gone through the whole roller coaster (of emotions), but once he got to meet River, when we were shooting, I think he felt like he was in great hands. And it just changed everything.  It really sort of put it to life, and I think (he felt that) it ceased to be him, and it started to become  the character that River had created, and that really was freeing for everyone.

Suzanne:  Oh, that’s great.  Yeah, the casting is great. The kids are awesome. And the adults… it’s just all really, really great.

Barry: Thank you.

Suzanne:  And I think it’s the kind of story that anyone can relate to, no matter what their age, because  we all were that age at one point, right?

Barry: Yep.  Well, we tried to find ways to sort of bring in a show that would be for the whole family, so that there are elements for parents, and there are things that are nostalgic, but there are also other elements of it that are really contemporary and speak to another generation.

Suzanne:  Good. Yeah. Well, I think it worked.  Are you the sole writer of the series, or are there other people who work on it with you?

Barry: So, I wrote four episodes.  The rest of the episodes were written by the staff.  So what had happened was that I was hired to write a pilot. They liked it. They wanted  some more, so I wrote a second.  And then, while we were building the room, I wrote a third to kind of get us going.  And then we actually went back over those first three and made sure that we were really happy with what they were and built it all the way through ten (episodes), together in a room. So that was great.

Suzanne:   I haven’t finished watching them yet because I’m moving (as I mentioned), but I like what I see so far.  Are you already planning ahead for season two?

Barry: I mean, I certainly planned for season two well before we had a season one. So,  we’ll have to see how audiences receive it, but I’m hopeful, and I’m excited for it.  I would love the opportunity.

Suzanne:  Yeah, I hope so.   You know, it struck me as funny that it’s on Apple. To me, it seems like something that would have been on the old ABC Family Network (struggles to remember the new network’s name) because it’s so kid-friendly, family-friendly, and science fiction.  They had a lot of shows like that in the past.

Barry: Yeah. Interesting. Freeform, right? Freeform.

Suzanne:  Yes. That’s the name. Yes. Is this your first time as showrunner?

Barry: It is, it is. I had run the writer’s room on another series, a few years back, and I really enjoyed it.  I didn’t expect that I would enjoy it and find it as rewarding, but it was (working with) a really gifted showrunner, in that regard. [I realized] “Ooh, this is, this is really exciting.  I’d love to do this.” And so here, here I am.

Suzanne:  Well, that’s good.  Were there any challenges in shooting the first season that you didn’t foresee?

Barry: I mean, there are always challenges. I think for us, trying tounderstand what everyone could do…because,  the truth is, we recognized from the table reads the weeks before production that this cast was so much  more on the ball than we ever could have imagined, and that we had to go back and write a lot of new material and sort of deepen things.  Ultimately, it paid [off in] dividends. But the challenge was making sure that we could give everyone their just desserts, and what it felt like, what’s going to make the show go.

Suzanne:  Right. And I was impressed by River, especially, at such a young age. I mean, how old was he when you started?

Barry: I think he was 13.

Suzanne:  Yeah.

Barry: Something like that.

Suzanne:  Yeah. It’s amazing. He seems like he’s got everything down.

Barry: Yeah. It’s also his personality. He’s so emotionally generous, and friendly.  I gather you, you may see that for yourself if you get to talk to him, that he seems like an old soul.  And I think we saw that (before we started). When I watched  the movie he did with Riz Ahmed,  Encounter, it was so clear that there was this sort of depth to him, and in his eyes, that we just knew [that] “This kid is incredible. We have to work with that.”

Suzanne:  And,  before you cast him, were you always looking for a particular,  ethnicity, or did it not matter?  Or were you going to cast whomever you thought was great?

Barry: It was entirely open.  The casting director is a near and dear friend, Josh Einstein. He had done, “This Is Us,” “Love Victor,” and a lot of different shows. We said we needed performers who could carry a real emotional depth.  And I think, even in the pilot, you see that, and what we found was extraordinary. And then the question, once we found River, was, who really felt like they could be the sibling to him? And Abby was just incredible.

Suzanne:  Yeah. She’s great, too.

Barry: Yeah. So we were really blessed there.

Suzanne:  Good. Well, I hope it’s a big success.  I love it when the show is– well, I love science fiction, anyway, but I love it when a show is fun, and it’s got a great cast and interesting characters. That’s… so, you accomplished that.

Barry: Thank you. Thank you so much.

Lucian-River Chauhan and Abigail Pniowsky

Suzanne: All right. How are you two this morning?

River: We’re doing well, Suzanne.

Abby: Good, how are you?

River: Nice to meet you.

Suzanne: Good. Nice to meet you, too. Uh, I love talking about me! (laughs) Bad joke…bad joke. I’m sorry.

River: No, I love it.

Suzanne: I was talking  to Barry yesterday, and he raved about you guys… just raved about both of you, so he seems nice.

River: I have to say, “Thank you for the kind words, Barry.. If you’re watching.”

Abby: Thank you, Barry!

Suzanne: Well, I was raving about you, too, cause I watched a lot of the episode, but you guys did a great job. Definitely.  especially, and I’m sure it sounds condescending, “for your age.” So. Hey, enough compliments. So, what did you each enjoy most about filming?

River:  I think for me, personally, I had never done a show with a bunch of kids that were my age. And so, that was, that was really interesting, to get a chance to experience… because, from the other shows,  it’s a different atmosphere, and, with kids, you get a chance to play around a lot more and have fun. And it doesn’t always have to be so intense all the time. And I think that’s something that was really, really fun for me to experience. I think because I’m actually the only child.  I have never had any sort of a brother-sister experience before, and so I was sort of able to build that and learn about that with Abby.

Suzanne: Oh, that’s great. Abby. What about you?

Abby: Yeah, I have to say, I completely agree with Riv.  It was really fun bonding with all the kids on set, and especially bonding with Riv.  Creating that dynamic… It was really cool, and I feel like at the end of the day,  you, sort of, went home tired, but with a smile on your face. There was a lot of laughter on set.

Suzanne: That’s good Yeah, I’m sure you’ve heard the saying before: it’s not work if you love it.

River:  Exactly. Yep.

Suzanne: And what would you say was the most challenging part of doing the show?

River:  Ooh.  I think, because we were filming in the middle of COVID 19. I think that was probably the most challenging.  We sort of had to take all the precautions necessary, like testing every day, and wearing masks all the time, which definitely got annoying.  But in hindsight, I’m kind of glad that we did do that because it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Suzanne: Abby?

Abby: I would say, probably, that we filmed by location (rather than in sequence), so we were kind of jumping between different episodes. So I think really staying present in the episode [and] understanding how I’m feeling between each episode, especially with the dynamic with Max and Ben, was really…it was a little difficult for me, but it was a nice challenge. I liked it.

Suzanne: Okay. And  before you filmed this, were you a fan of superheroes, and comic books, and that kind of thing?

River: Oh, yeah.

Abby: …A fan. .

River: Oh yeah, . Uh, I’m a, I’m a big superhero guy. I mean , a personal superhero that I really look up to is “The Flash.”  I love all things Flash , and  his superpower is also really cool.  So that would be a superpower [that] if I were to get one… that would be the one that I want. But no, I’m a big fan of watching  superhero shows, and origin stories.  But I think, with this one, it’s a little bit different because you get a chance to see it from a kid’s perspective, and not only just [with] the superhero aspect, but also something much deeper, like the relationship between Ben and Max.

Suzanne: What about you, Abby? Were you a fan of that kind of thing before?

Abby: Yeah, I think that superheroes are really cool.  My personal favorite is Spider-Man. Uh, love him. Love the guy. Um, but I agree with Riv. I think that this one is a little bit different… that the superpowers are a big point in the story, but they’re not the only plot point.

Suzanne: Sounds like we got a little Marvel-DC competition going on here, though.  (Laughs)

Have you heard anything about whether they would maybe make this into a real life comic book?

River: No, but now that you mention it, that Is like, like just, that just blew my mind, actually. Wow. That would be so cool.

Suzanne: They’ve done it with a few other shows. I can’t think of most of them [off the top of my head]. I know they did it with the character Nia from the “Supergirl” TV show. And I think she wrote part of it as well. She has her own comic now. So yeah, it can happen. Definitely.

River: Yeah,  we’ll see. You never know what’s going to happen.

Suzanne: That’s true. We’ll put that out. I thought of that when I was talking to Barry. He could probably get it done.

River: Hey, you never know. You never know. I think it would be interesting to write it too.  I’ve never actually written anything before.  but   it would be pretty interesting to get a chance to learn from, from Barry if he’s, if he’s up to that.

Abby: That’s what I was thinking.

Suzanne: All right. Okay. Well, thank you guys so much.

[ Audra sighing ]

[ phone pinging ]

Sally: So, these are the looks that we talked about for the winter line. That’s the outerwear.

Summer: Mm.

Sally: Mm-hmm?

Summer: Okay.

Sally: You can see, I shortened the coat a little bit. And this is the formal piece. Chelsea really nailed the silhouette.

Summer: Yeah. Mm.

Sally: And we– we tweaked the collar just a little bit. And– and Chloe also mentioned that in addition to the black, we should do this in a midnight blue.

Summer: Sure. Sure.

Sally: You don’t seem really happy with these looks.

Summer: Ugh. I’m sorry. I… I’m not really happy. But it has nothing to do with these designs. Usually, a winter collection has a heaviness about it, but there’s a lightness here. It’s really smart, and unique.

Sally: Oh, good, because that’s exactly what I was going for.

Summer: Honestly, Sally, it’s really great.

Sally: Is everything all right? What’s going on?

Summer: Um, you know what? Can we just keep focused on work? I actually kind of need the distraction.

Sally: Yeah. I mean, you’re the boss. And I– I can make any changes that you want me to make to these.

Summer: I appreciate you bending over backwards to play nice.

Sally: I mean, it’s kind of easy to do when you like what I’ve done. I– Part of me was ready to fight to the death if you were going to try and kill any of these designs, even though it’s Chelsea’s vision for the brand.

Summer: Hey, you didn’t just execute Chelsea’s vision. I mean, what you added made these looks better. Honestly, Sally, I’m– I’m still kind of surprised at how well this is working out. You know, when Chelsea came to me and she wanted to take a step back to focus on Connor, I really didn’t have many choices. Hiring you was kind of an act of desperation on my part.

Sally: Yeah, I mean, I– I know we have a history and I had to prove myself.

Summer: Well, you have. And now that this winter collection is back on schedule, I think it’s time that we make some changes.

Chelsea: Okay, well, Connor, we know you have to go, but we’ll talk soon, all right?

Adam: All right, keep up the good work, buddy. We love you.

[ Chelsea sighing ]

Chelsea: Did that really just happen?

Adam: It’s hard to believe after everything he’s been through, but our son might actually be getting better.

Chelsea: I mean, we’re not supposed to get our hopes up, you know, after every phone call. The doctors keep saying, we can’t expect too much.

Adam: Hey, not today, though. Dr. Hammond said this really is a breakthrough in the treatment of his OCD.

Chelsea: I mean, he was so direct. He was so articulate about his condition, about his treatment. It’s like he– it’s like he’s finally understanding what’s really happening to him.

Adam: And– and he’s not hurting himself again. And now he thinks if he has those feelings again, he has tools to stop that from happening. He’s gonna beat this, Chelsea. I know he is.

Chelsea: Oh, my God, I hope you’re right. I mean, even if he has to live with this for the rest of his life, for the first time since his diagnosis, I can see what that life may look like.

Adam: Yeah. And the hopes and dreams that we had for our son.

Chelsea: Yeah. We– we can dare to have ’em again. Oh, my gosh.

Adam: Oh. Mm.

[ Adam sighing ] Uh, sorry.

Chelsea: No, I’m– I’m sorry. I– I initiated that hug. That was…

Adam: No, look, I… I took your hand when we were on the call–

Chelsea: No, that’s big, but we– we had gotten good news, so…

Adam: Well, yeah, we– I mean, we got really good news. So, we don’t have anything to feel badly about.

Chelsea: No, we’re–

Adam: Well, not anything that we did today.

Chelsea: We’re allowed to feel good, Adam.

Adam: Yeah, anything to spite guilt and pain.

Chelsea: This isn’t about us. You know? This is about our son.

Adam: Well, I have been the biggest pessimist about his condition. And I believe he’s gonna get better, so you should, too.

Chelsea: I do. So, I should, um… I’m gonna go find Billy.

Adam: Chelsea. Look, we’ve been there for each other because it’s what Connor needed.

Chelsea: I know, Adam. And I know Connor still needs that from us. But what happened between us in that hotel room–

[ knocking on door ]

Adam: Dad, what are you doing here?

Victor: I hope I’m not interrupting.

Victor: Thank you. Hello, Chelsea.

Chelsea: Hello, Victor.

Victor: Everything all right?

Adam: Um, we just got off a call with Connor.

Victor: Oh. How’s my grandson?

Adam: He’s getting better.

Chelsea: Yeah. Yeah, the doctors think he’s making some real progress.

Victor: Happy to hear that. Will he be home soon?

Adam: Well, he’s taken a big step, but he’s still got a long way to go.

Victor: Any way I can help?

Chelsea: Oh, that’s so nice. Uh, not really. I wanted to thank you, though, for letting us borrow the jet for our visits to Baltimore.

Victor: I’m very glad to do it. Anytime, all right? Must have been tough for both of you, to have him so far away.

Chelsea: Yeah.

Adam: Yeah.

Chelsea: But things are really looking up now.

Victor: Good. Chelsea, if you don’t mind, I’d like a word alone with Adam.

Chelsea: No problem. I was on my way out. I have a meeting with Summer.

Victor: All right.

Adam: Oh, you’re already back to work?

Chelsea: Well, she wanted to meet with me. She didn’t say why. It’s probably something I have to fix with the winter line.

Adam: Mm.

Chelsea: Adam, what happened today with Connor, it really puts things in perspective. I’m starting to feel like maybe things will be okay.

Adam: They will be.

Chelsea: All right. We’ll talk later. Bye, Victor.

Victor: Bye, Chelsea.

Adam: So, what brings you by?

Victor: You know why I’m here.

Adam: You want to know if I’m going to take you up on your offer to head up Newman Media?

Victor: Yeah. Can I count on you?

Sally: I’m confused. I thought we just established that you were happy with the work that I was doing.

Summer: I am.

Sally: Okay. Well, I mean, if this is about Chloe, she was a huge part of these designs, and really the only reason that we could stay under budget.

Summer: That’s great. Thank her for me. I am learning to appreciate someone’s passion, even if I don’t always appreciate their personality.

Sally: Well, Chloe has been on her best behavior. And so have I.

Summer: No, I’ve noticed. I haven’t felt any attempts at sabotage. I haven’t received any offers from fashion houses in Paris or Milan.

Sally: Yeah, well, I’m really glad that we can joke about that now. But it is kind of ironic that my scheme to get you out of a job here in Genoa City…

Summer: Has brought us to the point where you’re now working for me at Marchetti?

Sally: Yes, and now we’re…

Summer: Finishing each other’s sentences?

[ both laughing ]

Sally: Yeah.

Summer: I– I don’t think that we’ll ever be best friends.

Sally: Eh– understandable. I am just thankful and grateful to be a part of your team.

Summer: How would you feel about leading a team of your own?

Sally: I’m listening.

Summer: Okay, good. ‘Cause I thought that we could discuss this–

Chelsea: Hi. Sorry, I thought this meeting was just going to be with Summer. Sally, you didn’t mention you would be here when I saw you today at lunch.

Sally: I didn’t realize you were going to be a part of it.

Summer: No, I wanted you both here, so that we could all discuss this idea that I have for a more permanent position for Sally at Marchetti.

Chelsea: Are you firing me and giving my job to Sally?

Nate: Don’t you want to come up for air for just a minute?

Audra: Uh…

Nate: First day at Glissade, and she’s still at it. You know that work will keep until tomorrow, right?

Audra: Yeah, it’s already tomorrow in Paris.

Nate: The sun never sets on the Audra Charles Empire, huh?

Audra: Something like that.

Nate: So I shouldn’t take it personally that you barely looked at me since I sat down.

Audra: Look, I’m just trying to prove you wrong.

Nate: About?

Audra: Me.

Nate: How was I wrong about you?

Audra: It’s clear you think I’m not up to the challenge of running a multinational cosmetics startup.

Nate: Hang on. I never said that.

Audra: You said my new venture might be more trouble than I can handle.

Nate: If it was just you, world, look out. You know my main concern is you having to watch your back because of Kyle Abbott and this mysterious investor of yours.

Audra: And you also brought up the threat of Tucker crawling from beneath whatever rock he took refuge under.

Nate: Well, Tucker definitely didn’t crawl under that rock. You dropped it on him.

Audra: Which proves I can handle things just fine.

Nate: No doubt. I’m just looking out for a friend.

Audra: And I’m glad you’re looking out for me. But do you have to be so literal about it? Are you seriously going to sit there and watch me work?

Nate: No, I am not. Please, come with me.

Summer: I have no intention of replacing you with Sally. I am very committed to you and your vision.

Sally: So am I.

Chelsea: So, then what did I miss here? I mean, Marchetti isn’t big enough for two creative directors.

Summer: Actually, I have been thinking about expanding the brand. And I heard that you were in town, and I wanted to discuss it with you.

Chelsea: Oh. Okay, I’m intrigued.

Summer: So, basically we have the market cornered in classic and upscale, right? And I’ve been thinking about creating a new line at Marchetti that’s trendier. For a younger demographic. We could call it Marchetti Z. Target that generation.

Sally: That’s a great idea.

Summer: You think so? Because actually, I was considering making you the lead designer.

Sally: Seriously? I mean, I’d be thrilled.

Chelsea: I love this idea.

Sally: Do you? Because I know after this opportunity you gave me to help you with your winter line, I just wouldn’t want to take anything away from you.

Chelsea: No, I’m sorry if I acted territorial before. I– It’s just, I– You know, I needed to step away, but this job does mean a lot to me.

Summer: And look, I completely relate to that. Sometimes work is the only place that you feel like you have any control.

Sally: And given everything that you’ve been through with Connor, I do not want to in any way threaten that.

Chelsea: Listen, I’m the one who pitched you to cover for me. So, you don’t have to sell me on this. I think it is a win-win, for Marchetti and for Sally.

Summer: So? What do you say?

Sally: Uh… okay. Well, uh, I’m just going to skip over the part where I attempt false modesty, and just say, the truth is, I– I think it’s a great concept, and I think I would absolutely crush it.

Summer: All right. Well, I’m glad we don’t have to waste any time building up your confidence. Look, we definitely need to discuss this further, but, um… first, I would really love to hear how Connor’s doing.

Sally: Yeah, yeah, me– me too. I– I know that he was released from inpatient, but I haven’t had a chance to talk with Adam about how your video call went.

Chelsea: Well, uh, I don’t want to get too excited, but it seems that Connor’s turned a corner. He seems to be getting better. When this all first started, you know, we didn’t see that he was sick. We didn’t see the disease. And then once we did realize it, and he was getting help, it was hard to look at our son and not see the OCD, and not feel this intense guilt, thinking we might have caused it.

Summer: Wow.

Chelsea: Yeah, but now, um, after this video chat, I saw my son again. My– my son, you know, and he– and he’s really– He’s fighting this thing with everything he’s got.

Summer: That is so great. I’m– I’m so happy for you, and for Connor and Adam.

Sally: Adam must be thrilled.

Chelsea: Uh, yeah, you know, we’re just trying to keep our feet on the ground. Um, here can be setbacks along the way, uh, but the doctors feel like this is a great first step, so.

Summer: Well, it seems like you and Adam are really in sync with the whole co-parenting thing. That’s amazing. Not everyone’s that lucky.

Chelsea: Mm. Yeah, no, I don’t know. Um, Adam and I don’t really always bring out the best in each other, so…

Sally: Uh, well, that’s not really what I’ve been seeing. I mean, Adam has been an emotional wreck, and I do what I can to understand and be there for him, but I’m really grateful that Adam has you to lean on too.

Adam: Dad, I’m not going to waste my breath trying to convince you of a parent’s need to put their kids first. I know Victoria tried to get you to understand why she wanted to focus on Claire and Johnny and Katie, and that argument fell on deaf ears.

Victor: Victoria will come around in time. She realizes her proper place is at Newman Enterprises, alongside her brother, Nicholas.

Adam: And here, I thought that was my place.

Victor: Your place, really.

Adam: Mm-hmm. Um… Nick and I are getting along just fine at work. I mean, unless he’s told you different.

Victor: Mm-mm, he hasn’t.

Adam: I’ll admit, I do need a distraction from my personal drama, so I am intrigued by your offer. But I’ll be damned if I’m going to get dragged into one of your wars without knowing who it is we’re fighting.

Victor: No reason to know who that is.

Adam: You want me on the front lines, I’m going to need a name.

Victor: All right. If that is what it takes, I will let you know who it is that I’m targeting.

Audra: Why are we here?

Nate: To watch the sunset on your first day as head of Glissade.

[ Audra sighing ]

Audra: Yeah, it’s been quite a day.

Nate: Is that why all the sighs?

Audra: No, today started with the high of the posting of that article that built me up, all about how I’m living the dream. And then, people started coming at me with all sorts of real-world problems.

Nate: Such as?

Audra: Did you know the price of glass went up 30% last year? Which means those little bottles we put nail polish in either have to get smaller or the price we charge to the consumer has to get bigger.

Nate: Ah. That is a real-world problem.

Audra: Yeah. Then, there’s the supply chain issues, as they relate to a certain shade of pink pigment for any lipstick line. Oh, and the fight to keep cheap knock-offs of our fragrances from getting to market. But I won’t bore you with any of the details. Wait, I just did, didn’t I?

Nate: Audra, you’re a lot of things, okay? But you can never be boring.

[ Audra sighing ]

Audra: Yeah, I’ve dealt with stress before, but this, this is just the next level.

Nate: Hm.

Audra: And you keeping me from work isn’t helping.

Nate: Maybe this will.

Audra: Well, if this is coffee in any form, it might.

Nate: No, it is not. This is oolong tea.

Audra: Oh, no thanks.

Nate: Uh-uh, hear me out. Look, this tea is filled with amino acids that improve brain function. It also helps with sleep, reduces stress, and anxiety.

Audra: Hm. It also tastes like wet socks.

Nate: It will grow on you.

Audra: You say it like it’s a good thing.

Nate: Listen, when I was in med school and then doing my residency, I was a coffee addict. Some of my friends literally shot that stuff into their veins.

Audra: Oh, so you’re saying you can hook me up with an IV?

Nate: No joke, people did that too. But, uh, for me, I– I couldn’t keep up. It got to the point where if I didn’t have a cup of something strong in my hands, they would shake.

Audra: Yep.

Nate: And no one wants a doctor with shaky hands standing over them with a scalpel.

Audra: Oh, no.

Nate: So, I switched to tea. It evened me out. I got better sleep, had more focus, and I got through.

Audra: Hm. So, this is what the doctor ordered?

Nate: That, and a few deep breaths. You need to take a moment and just be.

Audra: Yeah, no, I don’t do that. Deep breathing and meditation, the “ohming” and the unplugging of chakras, that was Tucker’s thing, and I don’t want to be reminded of it.

Nate: Tucker knows nothing about being in the moment. You need to get out of your head and listen to your body. It’s telling you everything you need.

Audra: And what I need is a triple shot of espresso, and to get back to my tablet.

Nate: Audra, those sighs earlier, a sigh is just a short breath. It’s a release and a reconnection.

Audra: Do you really believe all that? Or is it just some pitch you worked up to impress the women in your yoga class?

Nate: Do you think everyone has an angle?

Audra: Hey, I’m all about angles, but I just like it when people are up front about it.

Nate: This isn’t some play to be with you, Audra. It’s an apology. I’m sorry if I made you think I wasn’t a true believer. This Glissade thing? You got this.

Audra: Thank you for saying that.

Nate: And this, what we’re doing right here, right now. It isn’t a seduction in any way, shape, or form. I like having you as a friend, Audra. I know we talked a lot about you needing one right now, but what I haven’t said is I’m in a place and time in my life where I need one, too. So, how about we, um, sit here for a little while longer?

Audra: I think I can do that.

Chelsea: Wow, Sally, this is such great work.

Sally: It’s just working with what you gave me.

Summer: Oh, hey, I thought we weren’t doing false modesty here.

Chelsea: The way you solved the closure problem on that skirt? It’s genius.

Sally: Thank you.

Summer: Guys, I am loving this collaborative spirit we have going on here. I have been wanting to create this kind of atmosphere at Marchetti.

[ phone dinging ] Oh, it’s my realtor. I am looking for a new house for me and Harrison.

Chelsea: Oh, I take it that means you and Kyle still aren’t on the same page?

Summer: Um, Kyle and I aren’t even in the same book anymore. Uh, Sally, thank you so much for all of your hard work.

Sally: Yeah, thank you again for this opportunity.

Summer: And Chelsea, just know you have a place here whenever you’re ready to come back. Bye, you guys.

Chelsea/Sally: Bye.

Chelsea: Uh, well, I’m so glad that all worked out.

Sally: Uh, do you have to leave? I think there’s something we need to talk about.

Victor: Now, son, very few people are privy to this, but I’ve taken steps to acquire Glissade, a cosmetics company.

Adam: Oh, I wish I could have seen the look on McCall’s face when he found that out.

Victor: You may still have a chance, you know. Just know that the financing of it was anonymous, and I want to keep it that way, for now.

Adam: Yeah. I heard that, uh, Audra Charles and Kyle Abbott were handpicked to run Glissade. That’s an interesting pairing. But what’s the connection between Glissade and Newman Media? It sounds like you’ve already cut Tucker off at the knees.

Victor: He’s not the target. I just want Newman Media to create a massive buzz about Glissade.

Adam: Well, that’s easy enough.

Victor: All right. And at the same time, I want you to go after the competition.

Adam: That’s it?

Victor: Yeah, that’s it.

Adam: What is it that you’re not telling me?

Nate: Look, I– I don’t want to keep you from your work, Audra. I just want you to remember why you’re so excited about it in the first place.

Audra: I am excited about running Glissade. And it’s not just about the money, or power. Though, unlike most people, I’m not afraid to admit I want both those things.

Nate: What else is it about? Showing Tucker he was wrong to underestimate you? That he was the only thing holding you back?

Audra: Yeah, I fell into that trap before, trying to get a man’s approval. But now I know I don’t need that. And I want to bring that lesson I learned to Glissade.

Nate: How so?

Audra: I know I have a partner and an investor, so I won’t have total control, but I’m the one who buys and uses makeup. Tucker, or Kyle, or any man can read a marketing report. They can hold focus groups. They can talk about margins and profit and loss, but I’m the one who knows what it means to look into a mirror and… And see myself for what I really am. Not how a man wants me to be. Life can get real ugly sometimes. And I know what it means to need to feel beautiful in those moments. You know, Glissade needs to be not about being beautiful for a man, but about women being beautiful for themselves.

Chelsea: Can it wait? Uh, I’m sure it’s something you want to discuss about the winter line, and you didn’t want to bother Summer with it.

Sally: Well, I just think we need to clear the air.

Chelsea: You know, if– if you’re worried about stepping on my toes at Marchetti–

Sally: Well, yeah, it’s that, but it’s also about Adam, too.

Chelsea: Um, what about Adam?

Sally: Well, I am trying to be more open and honest with my feelings. It’s not something I’ve been great at in my past. But listening to you and Adam talk about Connor, and seeing how you two are there for each other, it’s made me want to step up my game.

Chelsea: Well, you have been there for Adam. He tells me all the time how wonderful you are.

Sally: Well, thank you, but I want to be wonderful for Adam. You know, I mean, I’ve never been involved with a man who’s going through what you and Adam are going through.

Chelsea: Yeah, I don’t know. I think maybe you should– maybe you should just tell Adam all this.

Sally: No, I will, but I also want to tell you.

Chelsea: Okay.

[ Sally sighing ]

Sally: When Summer asked me to stay on more permanently at Marchetti, I also thought that she was going to ask me to take your place and I just want you to know that I would never do that.

Chelsea: I appreciate that.

Sally: I mean, I came here not only driven by ambition and the need for a job so I can pay my bills, but to support you. And that was clear to me from the very beginning. But what wasn’t clear to me was how I can support you and Adam without feeling threatened. You have done nothing at all to make me feel that way.

Chelsea: Sally, you have supported me and Adam. Honestly, you’ve been amazing, and I really want to thank you for that.

Sally: No, Chelsea, I should be thanking you. Seriously, you did not have to take Adam’s suggestion to pitch me to Summer, and with everything that you have going on with Connor right now, I’m the last person that you should be thinking about, so I owe you, Chelsea.

Chelsea: No, Sally, you really don’t.

Adam: I get why you want to pump up Glissade now that we own it, and why you want to give bad press to our competitors to gain market share.

Victor: Do you have a plan how to do that?

Adam: Well, I can make it happen. And I can make it appear that we’re being fair and balanced. But that’s not what’s giving me pause.

Victor: What is?

Adam: All seems a little… What’s the word I’m looking for? Reasonable.

[ Victor chuckling ]

Victor: You know I’m very reasonable.

Adam: Come on, you could have sold this to Nikki and Victoria. Why do you need me?

Victor: Because, son, you know everything about Newman Media. You started the darn company. It’s your baby.

Adam: You’ve talked about the competition, but you still haven’t specified your enemy.

Victor: Jabot is one of the large companies in the sector.

Adam: Yeah, and Nikki would never agree to go after Jack Abbott.

Victor: Bingo.

Adam: But I respect Jack Abbott.

Victor: I don’t give a damn what your feelings are about Jack Abbott, okay? You have never hesitated in the past to go for the kill. It’s like your father. I don’t hesitate. Even if it means to hurt someone you like.

Victor: Son, you’re like me. You get that you can’t be soft to survive, can you?

Adam: Well, I’m like you in the fact that I’m not afraid to fight dirty.

Victor: So, Glissade was well positioned, so I went after it.

Adam: Come on, you are not someone that lets the chips fall where they may. You want me to use Newman Media to improve your odds.

Victor: I want you to do damage to Jabot.

Adam: Okay, well I hurt Jabot, I hurt Jack. It’s the same as Newman. If Newman took a hit, you would feel it.

Victor: I don’t give a damn about what the hell happens to Jack Abbott. Look what I’m offering you. I’m offering you autonomy to run the damn company you started as you will. And you don’t have to share any power with your brother or your sister. I’m handing the company to you. What are you going to do with it? Can I trust you?

Adam: Are you sure that you can trust Kyle and Audra?

Nate: You opening up to me like that means a lot.

Audra: Don’t go reading into it, Nate.

Nate: Oh. And the armor’s already back on. Mm-hmm.

Audra: Oh, now that’s a shade of violet I need for a new line of eyeshadow.

Nate: And she’s back to work. But I’ve already seen a little more of you than maybe you meant to show. Now, I can’t speak for what you see when you look in the mirror. And you’ve already made it clear that you aren’t interested in what any man thinks. But for the record… the more of you I see, the more beautiful you are to me.

Audra: Does that ever really work for you?

Nate: The pretty damn annoying charm?

Audra: That’s the one.

Nate: Oh. You tell me.

Audra: I think you already know the answer.

Sally: Chelsea, did your call with Connor not go as well as you said?

Chelsea: No, the call went great.

Sally: Okay, so, what is it? I mean, you can be honest with me about this awkwardness between us. >

Chelsea: Awkward? Is it awkward? I don’t think it is.

Sally: Yeah, of cour– Chelsea, of course it is. I’m doing your job.

Chelsea: No, you stepped in for me at Marchetti, and you’re doing great, and I knew you would.

Sally: Okay, then– then what is it? I mean, I… I– I– I don’t know. It– it almost seems like…

Chelsea: Like what?

Sally: Like you’re guilty?

Chelsea: No, I mean, I– I feel… Of course, I feel a little bad walking away at such a critical time. You know, when Summer needed me. But, um– But you made it so everything’s okay. And I’m really grateful to you for that.

[ Chelsea and Adam panting ]

Sally: Chelsea.

Chelsea: Sorry, I think, um, I think I’m a little jet-lagged.

[ Chelsea and Adam panting ]

Sally: You’re tearing up. Now, I know something is really wrong. Can you please just tell me what it is?

Chelsea: Sally, I…

Sally: You’re a mess. I– I– I get it. I mean, how could you not be after everything that you’ve been going through with Connor?

Chelsea: Ah, yeah, um, I just feel like everything that’s happened with my son has me on this emotional rollercoaster. And like I mentioned to you at lunch, I don’t… I don’t feel like I have control over any aspect of my life. What I say, what I do.

Sally: Yeah, I mean, I’m sure you have so much anxiety and frustration. I know that Adam does. I mean, is it selfish of me to say that I’ve been afraid of losing him over this?

Chelsea: Sally, you are not going to lose Adam. He cares about you so much.

Sally: Yeah, I– I know he does, but I mean, his heart is so broken over Connor that sometimes I just wonder if there’s even a piece left for me.

[ Chelsea sighing ]

Chelsea: I’m really sorry if– if me needing Adam has come between the two of you.

Sally: No, no, no. No, no. That’s not at all what– what I’m trying to say, okay? I’m– I’m really, really glad that Adam has you. You know, when Adam and I lost our baby… it bonded us. And Connor is your baby. So, of course, you and Adam are going to get closer, because you’re his parents, and I really hope that you guys are always there for each other. I mean, I’m sure that you can help Adam out in ways that I can’t even imagine. Billy and I–

Chelsea: You know what? I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry, Sally. I can’t talk about this right now. Um… Just know Adam loves you and you just have to stand by him. No matter what, okay? I’m really sorry. I have to go.

[ Sally scoffing ]

Victor: Now, Audra is very ambitious and savvy. She demonstrated that again when she turned Tucker’s board against him.

Adam: So, she stabbed someone in the back who trusts her? Yeah, that’s not very reassuring, Dad. Who’s to say we won’t end up the same?

Victor: You leave her to me.

Adam: And Kyle?

Victor: Well, so it happens that apparently, he had a huge falling out with his parents. Neither Jack nor Diane expressed a lot of faith in his talents. So understandably, he wants retribution. And I think we can use Newman Media to help him do that.

Adam: Hm. By crippling Jabot?

Victor: By crippling all competition. Now, that I’ve told you what’s going on, will you resume with leadership of Newman Media?

Adam: Uh… I’ll seriously consider it.

Victor: I can’t wait too long, okay? Time is of the essence.

Adam: I’ll sleep on it. I’ll let you know in the morning.

Victor: All right. Nice talking to you. I’m very happy that things are going well with Connor.

Adam: I am too.

Victor: Now, you can help your son and help your father.

[ door closing ]

Audra: I just want to be clear about something. We’re just in the moment, Nate, okay? Uh… I’m just getting out of my head and listening to my body.

Nate: I’m listening too, and I like what it’s saying.

Audra: I’m serious.

Nate: Hey, hey. I want this. Only if you want it too. If not, we stop.

Audra: I don’t want to stop. I just want to make sure we’re agreed, this is just for fun. It means nothing.

Nate: Right.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Felicia: Oh, thank you for returning my phone, Cody. Thank you. We are just about to have dinner. You should join us. –

[ Gasps ] Great idea! -Yeah! Look, I appreciate what the two of you are trying to facilitate here. I’m sure your hearts are in the right place. But… Mac knows where to find me if he wants to talk. Okay. Sorry. Not sorry. Look, I know this wasn’t the most honest way to get the two of you in the same room, but my mom and I felt like you guys needed to talk face to face, and then we should all have a conversation — as a family. See, that’s just it, Maxie. We’re not a family. You guys are. I’m just the guy who gives your son riding lessons. Maybe it’s better we keep it that way.

Care to explain the point of that humiliating exercise?

Hey. Hi. Uh, I was just on my way to the gatehouse with this. Oh. Thank you. I — I didn’t expect you to be my delivery service when I put out the SOS. I figured I’d just pick up the food when the nanny was, uh, packing up things to go. No problem. I was bringing a basket to Cody anyway. So, um, there’s chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans sautéed with garlic inside. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. I just got home and found out I have the kids for the evening, so, uh, thank you. Oh, uh, well, there’s enough for Willow, too. Where is she tonight? Uh, she’s working late with Drew. Ace went down? One book, and he was out. Wow.

[ Chuckles ] Are you reading that article? Yeah. What do you think? Uh, well, first of all, thanks for sending it to me. Um, I’m not sure that it’s a good comparison to Heather’s case because this guy got cobalt poisoning from an industrial exposure. True, but he suffered from extreme neurocognitive disorders, dementia, and uncontrollable rage. Which is exactly how we would have described Heather not too long ago.

[ Sighs ] I don’t know. Do you think this article could help people to understand how Heather could have changed?

Who is this stranger in my house? Kind of looks familiar. Kind of like someone who used to live here. What are you doing home already? Mom said that you’d both be working late, and Marshall’s at the club. So you thought you’d have a romantic dinner here at the house? Is there something I should know? No. This is actually a surprise dinner for you and Mom. It was from the Metro Court, and the sommelier said that he recommended the wine. Which he didn’t sell me. It was a gift from the hotel owner. You’re adorable. Honey, you didn’t have to do this. It’s an occasion that needs to be marked on the calendar. It’s been a year. Since I was shot and almost lost everything. It’s been a year… since your family rallied around you. And you found everything. And look at you now. I don’t have a lot of time. Alright. So, I’m — I’m on my way to Valentin’s right now. I’m gonna drop by unannounced, and I’m gonna walk out with the satellite phone that he uses to communicate with Pikeman. Assuming it’s still there. Well, why would he move it? I mean, he doesn’t know that I found it. It’s — It is the best way we have to prove that Pikeman is trafficking illegal arms… and that Valentin is in charge of that. So where am I gonna be able to find you once I’ve secured the evidence? Well, that’s not gonna be a problem. I’m gonna be parked two cars down from his house like I was before. That would be a problem. No. I’m going it alone this time.

Dialysis restored the patient in that article to baseline behavior. No more decreased mental functions or rage. Wow. Now, that’s a good indicator for recovery. Yeah. Possible. And that seems to be what’s happened with Heather. Yeah. You know, ironically, the best argument for Heather’s transformed state of mind is the fact that she doesn’t want her case reopened. Based on what I’ve learned, from a medical and a legal standpoint, a strong argument could be made that there was a rush to judgment and that the case should be opened. If that were to happen, Heather could even get a new trial. Yeah, maybe she could. But that’s not what Heather wants. I thought I was the only one that kept track of my shooting at the Metro Court. No, the whole family is aware. And I asked Aunt Stella if I should mention it to you or not, and she said, “To heck with mentioning! We should celebrate!” So…ta-da! I am celebrating… not only you being alive and well, but standing and walking. Thank you, baby. Yeah. Being able to walk again means everything. But what I am most grateful for… is spending time with my family. But I did notice only two, uh, place settings. You’re not joining us? Nope. I just want my mom and dad to celebrate privately. I mean, the way you two just pulled together, it was really inspiring. So you just — just observe this. That’s, uh, very thoughtful of you, but we are putting a dinner or a cookout on the schedule, so it doesn’t matter how busy you are. Well, you had me at “cookout.”

[ Both laugh ] Yeah, the meeting came up suddenly, but it’s for the New Tomorrow Institute, so Willow could hardly say no. Oh. For sure. Yeah. So, how’s it been for you, with Willow’s new job? Well, I’m happy as long as Willow’s happy. I know she’s pretty conflicted with the long hours she was working at G.H. and not having the valuable time to spend with the kids, but, luckily, Drew came up with a solution. Drew? Yeah, yeah. He pitched Willow as a spokesperson of the New Tomorrow Institute and he got her on board. So Willow can spend more time with the kids and still do work she can be proud of. A win-win. Yeah, the kids sure think so. So does Willow. She — She does seem happier, though, don’t you think? No question. Okay. I should get this to the troops. Thanks for dinner. And have a good evening.

Well, last time you went to Valentin’s alone, you came out empty-handed. I was searching the place. I-I didn’t — Now I know where the evidence is. Did you mean to spend the night last time? That just happened. Alright? It’s none of your business. And it won’t happen again. Okay, I-I’m not trying to call you out, but I am a little concerned. I know how complicated this is — Noted! I still don’t want you there. Valentin has security cameras. He will notice if the same car with the same driver is parked outside each time I visit. So, no! This is a solo operation! I will meet you back here once I have acquired the phone.

Alright. Use this when you do. It’s a key to my place. Okay. I’m on my way, then. And I’ll see you back here when I have the phone.

[ Door closes ]

[ Knock on door ]

Hey. Hey. Sorry for just stopping by. I hope it’s okay. No, no. It’s okay. Is everything okay with Jake? See for yourself. Escuela de Arte en Barcelona? Is that Barcelona Academy of…Art? Well, my Spanish is not good, but is — is this an acceptance letter? Jake has been accepted into the Drawing and Painting Program. Anna. Hi. Surprised? I am. Yeah. But it’s my favorite kind of surprise. Please come in. I’m not a wine aficionado like you are, but I hope I did good. Yeah, yeah, you did well. Yeah? Good. I’m happy. Are we gonna share this? Shall I get us some glasses? Are you in a hurry? Would you like to stay for dinner? I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t hoping you’d ask. You’re such a good cook. And I’m just a lowly small-town Police Commissioner in need of a hot meal and some good conversation. Well, then you’ve come to the right place. Because I would never want you to waste away… or be bored. Well, hey. Hey! You didn’t come up to pester me about dinner, so I figured you might be busy, so I brought it to you. Have you eaten? No. Thanks, but I don’t really have an appetite right now. That’s impossible to believe. Hey. What’s going on? Nothing I really want to get into right now. But I’m — I’m glad you’re here. I could use the distraction. Well… There’s a lot of that going around. Hmm. So keeping me fed isn’t what drove you out of the kitchen and down here. I mean, of course, I always care for your nourishment, but, no. What’s going on? If I tell you, I have to swear you to secrecy. This — This has to stay between you and me. I am not going to apologize for scheming to bring you and Cody face to face. I was hoping that you would let reason take hold in that stubborn brain of yours… and maybe, just maybe, you and your son could actually talk with each other. I think stubbornness is an inherited trait, uh, because Cody’s really digging in now. I don’t get it! You and Cody liked each other just fine before he told you the truth. He’s the one who had to live with the secret. And now it’s out in the open. He — He came to you of his own volition, Mac. Nobody forced him to do that. Nobody was twisting his arm. Why can’t you just let this bring you closer together instead of driving you apart? Maybe I liked the liar better. No. Don’t you do that. Don’t you play this off like you don’t care. What you like better is your own pride. And, you know, Maxie’s right. Cody is just like you — too proud to beg to be accepted as your son. And maybe, deep down, you want him to — as penance for lying until you can forgive him. Cody jerked all of us around with his lies. I’m not letting anyone — anyone — do that to my family! Not a would-be relative. Not anyone. Funny. Now you’re the one that’s lying. Alright. Send her up. Bad dream. He’s gone back down. Good. Yeah. And then I stayed to watch him sleep for a while. He’s just so beautiful, you know? Like an angel.

[ Sighs ] And I realized that Heather is never going to get to see that unless I take a photo of it — and I will. I’ve made a decision. I’m going to honor Heather’s request and let this go. It just feels like such a shame, though, you know? Now we will never know whether or not she could have gotten a reduced sentence.

[ Knock on door ] Oh, uh, the doorman called. Ah. Trina’s here to see you. Yeah. Okay.

[ Sighs ]

Hi. Hi. I’m sorry just to show up, but, um, it’s important. Um…

[ Door closes ] Oh, my goodness! Ooh.

[ Soft jazz music playing ]

[ Chuckles ] Curtis, honey. Did you do this? I cannot take credit. This is all 100% our beautiful daughter’s idea. When I came home, she was putting on the finishing touches. The food, this amazing bottle of wine, it’s all from the Metro Court. She thought that, you know, after the year we had that we needed some time with each other. She is so incredibly sweet. I have to call her right now and thank her. -Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. -She’s so cute. You can call her tomorrow. Tonight… Tonight is about us. Oh… Well, you know what? That’s perfect. Because I’ve been thinking about you all day. How happy I am that you’re here and that we’re still together. Ugh! I was so afraid of losing you. Look, why don’t we celebrate what’s ahead a-and we can leave all the fear, all the pain behind. The pain, yes, maybe. But, uh… the fear. I’m having a hard time leaving that behind.

[ Sighs ] Look, I hate to admit this, but it’s really hard for me to celebrate when I’m worried about the safety of my family. he wanted to apply to Barcelona. Now, it’s such a prestigious school, I didn’t want to discourage him, but I had no idea he would actually get in. And not because I-I don’t recognize his talent. I mean, his portfolio is amazing and his teacher references are glowing. But you never know if someone else is gonna see your kid the way you see them. Is Jake excited? He’s trying to be low-key about it, but I can tell he’s — he’s over the moon. I actually made a point of not talking about it after he applied because I didn’t want to get his hopes up, but I guess I worried for nothing ’cause they think he’s the real deal. Well, that’s great. I’m gonna have to take your word for it. Does Jake even speak Spanish? He’s had six years — two years in middle school and then all through high school. This is a dream come true for him. Jason, our son is going to study art in Spain!

[ Chuckles ] Thank you for letting me know. Do you think Jake will mind if I reach out to him about this? Well, that’s why I’m here. You might want to spend whatever time you can with him before he leaves. It’s sooner than you think. I’d like to do one more thing. Let me cover Jake’s tuition and his expenses. You are always welcome, Trina. Please, come in. Tell me. What’s going on? Um… It’s an Ace emergency.

[ Gasps ] Oh! I found this in my car. I was at my mom and dad’s house trying to grab some clothes to take to my place, and this must have been there from the last time I babysat Ace. I-I hope he hasn’t missed it too much. Oh. Thank you. That’s so thoughtful of you. You know, I’d have you give it back to him yourself, but he’s already gone down for the night. No, that’s okay. I-I figured. Well, it’s good to see you, Trina. I have some cases I still need to review tonight. Thanks. Would you like to sit down for a minute? I would really like the opportunity to catch up with you a bit. I heard that you had moved on to the Quartermaine grounds. Um, I, uh — I thought maybe I would have seen you at the Fourth of July. Yeah, well, I’ve just been keeping a low profile. I mean, I think it’s important to vote and all, uh, but I’m just not into the political scene these days, and it’s just a little too chaotic and overwhelming. And, I mean, I know what I’m for and what I’m against. Not saying that I’m not interested in those issues. I just — I’ll make sure that I’m up on them before I vote in November. I’m sure you will be. Your mother’s very invested. Yeah. Because of Heather Webber. Has she said anything to you? Um, for years, I lived in apprehension because Taggert was pursuing his career in law enforcement. And I was so happy that you had left that job when you and I finally got together. Because I knew that you would be safe. No risk of life or death every time you walk out the front door. And then this mad woman who was fixated on our daughter, she was finally captured and put in prison where she belongs. And I thought I could actually have some peace. You know, and I was doing real, real good for a while there. But now this madwoman might just be casually walking our streets again? I seriously doubt that will happen again. See, and I know that you think I’m being paranoid, but I think the lesson over the past few years is that — that maybe I haven’t been paranoid enough. Because I didn’t listen to that scared inside voice. I tried to quiet it. And — And what happened? Trina almost died in France. Spencer did die.

[ Scoffs ] And that’s why I’m sounding the alarm about Laura trying to reopen Heather Webber’s case. Because I just fear that the worst… Curtis, I know it. The worst — it’s yet to come. Valentin: Well, you’re actually in luck, because I just made a caprese salad, and I was about to sauté some fillets of sole that I picked up earlier. Why do you enjoy cooking so much? It relaxes me. Oh. But, you know, Charlotte’s gone now, and I’m not used to cooking for just myself, so I almost always have too much. So it’s gonna work out. So uncork the wine, and I will finish dinner. Wine opener’s over there. Okay. Hey. I’m really glad you’re here. Me too. Right. So, one dinner for two coming right up.

Can I help you find something? You found it! Oh, yeah. It was in the kitchen with me. Oh! Great. I’m sorry. I gotta get back to the fish.

Crack that open! Let it breathe! Dinner’s pretty much ready! Okay!

Wow! Nobody has lied more to this family than me. Well, Maxie, that was different. Yeah, it was different because you forgave me. A-And when it was my turn, I wasn’t so quick to forgive. I remember clinging to some sort of misguided pride and pushing my mother away, saying I didn’t want her in my life. And even though it didn’t happen overnight, I realized that my pride was not nearly as comforting as my mother’s love. Look, the moral of this story is… you never turned your back on me. Why can’t you do that for Cody? We’ve been over this, Maxie. I raised you. I always knew your intentions were good. Cody is a stranger who I happen to share biology with. I don’t know what you expect — that I suddenly forgive and forget? We’re not suggesting that, Mac, but we’re also not letting you give up on your only child — your son. You know that Michael and I dated, right? Yeah. And you’ve managed to be friends afterwards. Right. We’re better off, actually. Mm-hmm. But now I have stumbled into something that might blow up Michael’s life, not to mention his business with Aurora and ELQ. Sounds ominous. You promise to keep this between us, right? Yeah. Like I said. What is it? It — The other day, Nina confided in me that she was having a — “Affair” isn’t really the right word. She — More like a situation-ship with Drew. Okay. Why would that bother Michael? Because they all work together? Oh, right, right, right. Him and Willow. They have bad blood with Nina. I gotcha. Am I telling the story or — or do you already have it figured out? No, no, no. Proceed. Proceed. During the fireworks on Fourth of July, I walked into the Solarium… and I saw Drew and Willow kiss! No. Yes. You — Are you absolutely sure? I wish that I wasn’t, but it was Drew and it was Willow, and they were lit up by the fireworks, and they were too into the kiss to even notice that I was there! Whoa. I mean, that’s a — that’s a curveball. Right?! I mean, I just had a conversation with Michael and I was squirming inside the entire time. He — He clearly has no idea. And Drew and Willow are working together, a-and they’re out tonight at a meeting. I-I don’t know what to do. That’s really generous of you, but I’m already looking into loan applications. No, no. We’re gonna forget the loans, okay? Please. Just let me do this for Jake. It’s something I can do. And you’ve been carrying the load for way too long. Okay.

[ Chuckles ] Thank you. That’ll — That’ll be a really big help. I’m still paying for Cameron, and I know I’ve got Aiden coming up, and I’m looking at a lot of expenses with Jake, with traveling. He’s got to go there for orientation and got to update his passport and get a student visa and the books and the art supplies and… Yeah, you know, all that’s — all that’s — all that’s fine. Do you think Jake will be okay with me helping him? Well, I guess that’ll be up to him. But I got the impression that when you guys went to the game, things went well. Yeah, I thought so. Good. Um… I really appreciate the effort you’re making and for wanting to help me shoulder the cost. I guess there’s just one problem left. What’s that? How much I’m gonna miss him. Your mother has a right to all her feelings. Heather does evoke a lot of fear and rage in people. Rightly so. If I were your mother, I would also be very protective of you. I mean, after all, Heather did target you. But when I came to see you in the office, you were so great. And I understand why you feel the way you do. I appreciate that, sweetheart. I really do. But I have to tell you something. I have just come from visiting with Heather today, and she made it abundantly clear to me that she would like me to drop the whole thing. Are you going to? It’s Heather’s life. It is her decision, and I think I have to respect that. Well, I’m glad to hear that, but you do raise an important question. If Heather wasn’t in her right mind and she had no control over her actions… should she be locked up for the rest of her life? I honestly don’t know what the right thing is here, but I do know that I am going to respect her wishes. I’m curious, though. What do you think should have been done with Heather? I need to find out how many names I need on a petition to have Laura recalled as mayor. Honey, that’s been tried before. It didn’t work then, and I doubt it’ll work now. Well, then, I’ll just have to make it an issue. I don’t think the public would take too kindly to their mayor’s attempts to try to overturn Heather’s conviction. Okay. I-I get it. You’re fired up about this. Yeah, and you’re not! And I get that Laura’s your friend. I get that, And, hopefully, that woman will come to her senses. But I can’t afford to take that chance. And, more importantly, Trina can’t.

I hadn’t told you this before, but, um… I went to Pentonville… to visit with Heather. I had to see for myself. So we’re just not telling each other things? Is — Is that what’s happening now? I was still processing the whole thing, and I didn’t know how to talk to you about it until I had. Why?

[ Scoffs ] Was it that bad? It’s not that bad. Look. After, uh — After talking with Heather, I can see what Laura sees. You know, from a legal standpoint, maybe Heather doesn’t deserve to be behind bars for the rest of her life.

[ Groans ] how disappointed you were when Cody told you he wasn’t your son… and, even afterwards, how you couldn’t let go of the connection that you felt with him. Do you deny that? I’m not denying I like the guy. He lied to me, Felicia. And he kept up that lie. Every interaction we had, every conversation, every laugh we shared, he was lying to my face! How do you expect me to accept that?! Cody grew up with people he wasn’t close to. They never treated him like a son. Are you gonna continue that and not treat him like one, either? You two are ganging up on me. No. We’re loving you, Mac. We know how difficult it is for you to welcome Cody with open arms. Because you’re angry. And for good reason. He lied to you. He cost you a year of your lives. But ask yourself, Mac — how much time are you willing to let your anger cost you now? I don’t know what Willow is thinking. I mean, Michael loves her so much, and I know that she loves him. They have two small children! All you saw was a kiss. Right? Right. So maybe that’s all it was. I mean, they were probably drinking. Fireworks were going off. Maybe they just got carried away. So it was a one-time thing? I don’t know. I mean, you know these people better than I do. Do Willow and Drew seem like the type of people to sneak behind Michael’s back? No. Absolutely not. Okay, well, then… my advice is you forget that you saw it. Unless you want to blackmail ’em. My recommendation would be Drew. He’s got deeper pockets. Uh, I need to go finish cleaning up. Hey. Forget I said anything. Okay. I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. Okay? I was just joking. It was supposed to be a joke. I was just trying to lighten things up for you in my own clueless way. You really are clueless, aren’t you? Yeah, about most things. But with this, I see pretty clearly. And how is that? People can be reckless and crazy. I totally include myself in that, but that doesn’t really matter right now. One of the hazards of working in someone else’s home is sometimes you’re gonna find out things that you wish you hadn’t. And the fact that the Q’s are stinking rich only magnifies that problem. No, no. Mnh-mnh. She’s still Heather, but not cruel or violent. Nothing like the maniac I remember. It’s just — It makes me crazy to sit there and think that you’re sitting across from someone who is an absolute threat to our family. But I-I had to see it for myself. And I’m glad I did. Because if Laura makes some effort to try to free Heather — and I’m not saying she has, because she hasn’t — But if she does, we don’t have to fight her. Why are you even saying this? Because Heather made it clear to me that — that she doesn’t even want her case reopened. She told me that she’s right where she belongs and she would tell that to any judge or parole officer who reviewed her case. Oh, Heather said that, so… She did. And she was adamant about it, babe. So no matter what Laura does, I am 100% confident that Heather Webber will stay right there in that cell where she is for the rest of her days. The house is gonna be so empty. Cameron’s already gone. A-And now Jake. It’s good. It’s all — It’s good. I’m gonna be — I’m fine. And Cameron is loving California. And I-I would never deprive Jake of this opportunity. Do you remember when I wanted to be an artist?

[ Chuckles ] I do. I do remember. You were good. But I gave up on it. I kind of went back to it a little bit after I met Franco. I know how you feel about him, but he did a lot for those boys — and for me. You — You get the credit for the boys. You’ve done an amazing job raising them. Thank you. Well, like I said, um, it’s gonna be up to Jake if he allows you to pay for Barcelona.

Um, y– I just want to say that I-I do see that you’re trying to make up for lost time with him. And Jake sees it, too. You’re making good on your word to be a better father. I appreciate that.

You’re right. The best thing I can do is ignore that it ever happened. And whatever’s going on between Willow and Drew will hopefully work itself out. Just don’t try to blackmail them. What’s it worth to ya?

[ Chuckles ] Cody wanted me to believe that he wasn’t my son, and now he wants me to know that I’m his father? If his circumstances have changed, that’s on him. But I don’t have to automatically fall in line. And neither do you, Maxie. Cody can go through whatever he’s going through, but that has nothing to do with us. I have to tell you that, to a degree, um, I have compassion for what Heather is going through right now. As she becomes more lucid… …maybe she can get some counseling. I don’t know. Maybe I can arrange for her to have a psychiatrist see her in Pentonville. You know, somebody who can help her to deal with the things she’s done. Because I believe that she is truly remorseful. Well, I’ve been thinking about this a lot. Is it fair that someone who’s mentally ill gets punished for something they have no control over? Should they be treated the same as someone who knew what they were doing? I don’t think so. Heather couldn’t help that she was sick. She didn’t choose it. It’s easy for me to see why Spencer loved you so much. You have a very loving, compassionate heart. And you asked what I — what I think should be done to Heather. Mm-hmm. And I think that she should get justice according to the law of this country. Because that’s what I’d want anyone to get. Me too. I wish I could believe that Laura will do what Heather asks and just let this whole thing go. I still believe in Laura’s integrity. She will do the right thing. Well, I think that we’ve talked about Heather Webber enough for one night.

[ Both laugh ] Yeah. I certainly don’t want her to derail this absolutely lovely celebration that our daughter has planned for us. Before the first course… Oh?

[ Soft R&B music plays ]

May I have this dance? It would be my absolute pleasure.

Mhm!

Have you given any thought to my proposition? Of leaving Port Charles with you and going… Wherever we feel like. I have thought about… how hard it would hit me… if you were to disappear without me.

Then don’t let me.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[gentle music]

Oh, Jada. [chuckles] It’s so good to see you. Come in. Join me for breakfast. Look at this delicious, delicious powdered eggs. Pro tip– skip it. Stick with the coffee and donuts for breakfast. [laughs]

OK. You know, this isn’t a social call, Bobby. I am here on official police business. You told me that if I came back here, we could talk more about the murder of Li Shin.

Mm-hmm.

[sobbing] I didn’t mean to do it, Li. I didn’t mean to do it. I swear. [weeps]

Bobby, if you don’t tell me what you know, you will never see me again. [tense music]

Fine. Enjoy your powdered eggs.

Jada, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.

[sighs]

OK. I’ll tell you everything.

[ominous music]

I hope you like mushrooms, love. Oh, I get it. You’re thinking about that podcast we just listened to on Australian death caps. Well, these are perfectly safe, I swear. Straight out of the can. Li, your eggs are getting cold.

Yeah. Well, I actually don’t like mushrooms.

Oh. Well, more for me, then. [chuckles]

Hey.

You want some coffee?

Uh, no, I can’t stay, but, um, what did you need?

Oh, well, I have the papers from HR, and you will be in charge of recruiting new assets for the company.

Oh. Great. I can do that. But how come I couldn’t sign these over at the office?

Oh, well, because I’m having it deep-cleaned to remove the stench of desperation that EJ left. Is there a problem?

Yeah. You know there is. Gabi lives here, and I would like to minimize my chance of running into her, since I slept with her husband. [soft dramatic music]

Oh.

Am I dreaming?

Mm. This definitely feels very real to me.

Mm. Don’t.

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

You don’t want to make love to me?

I have a headache.

A headache?

Caused by you.

Stefan, please. We already talked about what happened at the press conference.

What happened? [chuckles] What happened at the press conference is that you deliberately blew EJ’s life up. I begged you. You promised me that you weren’t gonna say anything about Jude being Eric’s child, and you gleefully announced it to the public. [soft dramatic music]

Again, I never technically promised a thing. And why are we talking about EJ? Why are we talking at all? I would think that months and months after abstinence, that you would not be able to keep your hands off of me.

[sighs] Gabi, it’s just that–

Oh, that’s right. You have a headache.

Well, now I have one too. I’m gonna go.

[sighs]

You’re in a good mood today, considering you just learned someone saw you covered in my blood on the night I was murdered.

Oh, I’m not worried about Bobby Stein. Not at all. You see, he’s got it real bad for the detective on the case, Jada Hunter.

Hmm. You’ve lost me.

I’ve asked him to keep his mouth shut about seeing me on the night in question. And in exchange for his silence, I’ve agreed to get rid of his romantic rival, Commissioner Rafe Hernandez.

Are you gonna murder him the way you murdered me?

Killing you, my love, was a crime of passion. And we both know it wasn’t my fault. [eerie music]

Yes?

Li, it’s me, Connie Viniski. You haven’t forgotten about our date at Small Bar, have you?

That– that was months ago. Uh, how did you find out where I live?

You told me, silly.

Hmm. Did I? Well, what are you doing here dressed like that?

I was on my way to my ballroom dancing lesson. My cha-cha partner canceled at the last minute, and I realized your place is right on the way to the studio, so it seemed like fate brought me to your door. [laughs] Would you like to join me for a lesson?

[chuckles] Um, no. No, no. I’m sorry. I have two left feet. But thanks, anyway.

Oh, what– what about bowling, then?

Look, uh, Connie, I don’t mean to be rude, but could you please just leave me alone? I’m having a very bad day.

I’ll just have to make it better, then.

Connie, I don’t– OK.

Look, can I be honest with you? I’ve probably had over first dates. Second ones I can count on one hand. Men, for the most part, are clueless Neanderthals, you know? But you are different. I can tell. When I talked, you actually listened. It did warm my heart, Li Shin.

Well, I’m glad, but–

And I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you since that night!

It was last July.

I know. And believe me, I wanted to make my move much, much sooner, but you started dating that snake of a DA. But now that you’re done with her, I thought you and I could pick up where we left off.

If you had only said yes, things would be so different now.

I’m sorry to bother you at home. This won’t take long.

It’s all right. What can I do for you?

Jada said she already spoke with you about what’s going on with her ex, Bobby.

Yes, she did.

I know you can’t tell me anything that you have discussed in your therapy sessions, but I want your professional opinion. I mean, do you think that this guy really knows anything about what happened with Li Shin’s murder?

Well, that could be a fabrication. He could be telling Jada that because he just wants her to come and see him again.

Right. Exactly. And with that said, do you think that it’s OK for her to be alone with him right now, in his mental state?

Oh, no, no. From what I’m seeing, he’s not dangerous.

OK. But from what you’re seeing. But that could change, right?

[sighs] Look, Bayview is a very secure place, and doctors are very close by when there are visitors. But what you should know is that– that somebody with mental illness is far more likely to be the victim of a crime than the perpetrator of one.

Right. Yeah. Jada’s been trying to persuade me of that, but still, I just don’t like her being alone with this guy.

I’m waiting, Bobby. Who killed Li Shin?

– Oh, I’m not worried. Commish or no commish, Jada will come around.

What, you think she’s going to be so grateful to you for helping her solve Li’s murder that she’s going to fall into your arms and declare her undying love for you? Please. You’re just part of the job to her. And when the job is done, she’s going back to the boyfriend, the one with only one personality.

You did your research.

It doesn’t take a lot of effort to sneak a look at a chart around here.

Well, either way, I think I’ll take my chances.

Or…

What if there’s an easier solution for both of us?

Which is what?

You keep my name out of this, and I’ll take care of the commish.

Answer me, Bobby. Please. What did you see the night of Li Shin’s murder?

Yeah. Um– um– [grunts] Ah!

Bobby, are you OK?

[groans]

Oh, my God, Bobby. What is going on?

[groans, pants]

Why are you calling me Bobby? I’m Everett.

I know that Jada is more than capable of taking care of herself.

And I know in this difficult situation, you must be concerned about her emotionally.

Yeah. She cares about Bobby. She wants to help him. And you know, Stephanie, uh, she believes that all these visits with Jada were going to cause Everett to reemerge. But it seems like it’s having the opposite effect.

Bobby is determined to keep Everett at bay. He just doesn’t want to have him feel threatened.

Yeah. And is there any way to change that?

Well, of course, we hope so. You know, we do understand what caused Bobby’s emergence. We just want to make sure that now we get Everett back.

Uh-huh. [soft dramatic music]

Everett?

Where am I?

You’re in Bayview Sanitarium.

Sanitarium? The last thing that I remember, I was with– I was with you and– and Stephanie, in my room at the– at the Salem Inn. And we were talking–

Everett, just listen. Hold tight, OK? I’m going to call someone and tell them that you had a breakthrough.

It all started to go wrong when you took up with that tramp Melinda Trask.

How do you figure that? [tense music]

How do you know about me and Melinda?

I read about it in Lady Whistleblower’s column. But Melinda was all wrong for you. For God’s sake, she tried to have you thrown in prison. And what did you see in her in the first place?

It wasn’t a real relationship. She was just trying to get the goods on me. And after her and Gabi, I’m sure you understand that I’m not ready to start dating again anytime soon.

Well, if tonight’s no good, how about tomorrow?

I don’t think so.

Then when? Look, I know those two women hurt you, but I can heal you, Li. And I know you need healing. I mean, I know you’re seeing a psychiatrist.

What? How do you know that?

I was at the hospital recently, and I saw you going into the office of Dr. Marlena Evans.

So you’ve been stalking me?

I don’t think it’s stalking when you care about the person, and they care about you.

Hey! Hey, listen, all right? I’m gonna be blunt, all right? I don’t care about you. I– I hardly know you, for one thing.

But you can get to know me. Please, just give me a chance.

No, OK? That’s not going to happen. Now, please, I think it’s time for you to leave.

Hey! Get out of here!

OK. OK, fine. Fine. I’m gonna call the police.

No, don’t, don’t! Please don’t. Please don’t. I won’t let anyone hurt you ever again.

[groans]

Oh! Oh, no. [somber music]

You stabbed me in the back.

The only way that Gabi is gonna find out that you slept with Stefan is by overhearing you talking about it. She’s not gonna just look at you and go, “Oh, you’ve been lusting after my husband!”

Because I’m not!

And you never were.

OK, still, all right, it’s not real comfortable to be around the two of them together. Can you please understand that?

I can. I can understand, you know? And I’m never gonna invite you over here ever again. Just keep your mouth shut about it, hmm?

Keep your mouth shut about what?

Oh. You know what? I have to take this. Excuse me. [soft dramatic music]

Gabi. Hey. [chuckles] All right. So the reason I’m here is Kristen, she put me in charge of business affairs over at DiMera.

Oh, wow. I hadn’t heard.

They haven’t put out a press release yet.

Oh. Well, I won’t say anything, except congratulations.

Thanks. Oh, and um, congratulations to you too, on being let go from Statesville.

Thank you. Since you’re here, there is something I need to talk to you about.

Me? OK. Um, what is it?

You and my husband.

Me and Stefan? What about us?

Ava, I know that after Gil Carter died, Clyde Weston forced Stefan into helping you run drugs through the Bistro.

Well, he was threatening my son. I felt I had no other choice.

Stefan felt he had no choice either, especially after Clyde was also threatening me, as I’m sure you know. I just want to say that I’m grateful to you. I know that you had to make sacrifices in order to make this arrangement work and help keep me safe. I’m also glad that Stefan didn’t have to go through this ordeal alone.

Ava. Am I, uh, interrupting something?

I was just on my way out.

Hey. What the hell was that about?

It wasn’t my fault.

That you plunged a knife into my back?

Gabi and Melinda are the reason you rejected me. None of this would have happened otherwise. [gentle music] Oh, no, Li. I didn’t mean to do that. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry. Wait. I’m not sorry. It wasn’t my fault. You said you wouldn’t go out with me because you had a very bad day, and that was because of the hell that Gabi put you through, and the hell that Melinda put you through on top of that.

[sighs] Gabi needs to take responsibility and see what she’s done to you. There. That should get that bitch over here before your body even gets cold.

Goodnight, my love.

We couldn’t be together in life, but in death, you will forever be mine.

[knocking]

Ava, I know you’re in there. We need to talk.

Oh, my God. [tense music]

Ava. Oh! [ominous music]

Gil Carter. What were the odds he’d pick that moment to stop by?

Hey. You OK?

Yeah. Uh, I’m just a little disoriented. How long have I been here?

A few weeks.

[exhales] I guess you were right. I guess I really did have DID.

Everett?

Dr. Evans.

Oh, it is so good to see you.

It’s really good to be back. I just– I don’t understand. How did I end up here?

Well, your doctors thought you would do better with inpatient care.

Did I consent to that?

No. It was involuntary. We were concerned about your mental health, and you were not capable of consent.

Right. Because Bobby took over. [tense music]

Well, he’s gone, and I’m back.

I’d really like to get out of here. [chuckles]

What the hell are you even doing in my house?

Oh, I asked her here. Ava is my friend and employee.

Your employee?

Mm-hmm.

Yeah. Kristen just gave me a

Why the hell would she do that?

I can run DiMera as I damn well please, thank you. Ava was wasting her talents over at Roman’s greasy spoon.

OK, you can hire whoever the hell you want, but in the future, maybe keep your business meetings in the confines of the DiMera office.

OK, going forward, that is the plan. [tense music]

What the hell were you and Gabi talking about, anyway?

Oh, would you relax? I don’t want Gabi to find out about us any more than you do, OK? And all we talked about was how you and I helped to ensure her safety. Gabi said she’s grateful that I let you lean on me while she was in prison.

[chuckles] If only she knew how much leaning was going on. [laughs]

Oh, sis. How are you doing?

Ah, a lot better than I was when I was in lockup.

Oh. Well, that’s good. Oh, hey, will you tell Stefan I need him to come down to the station and give me a statement? Uh, I need him to go on record about what he knew, and when, about Jude’s paternity switch.

He already told you everything he knows.

Yeah, well.

And he’s still pretty pissed about me after everything that happened at the press conference. It’s a sore subject, so I think that you should reach out to him directly.

OK. I will. Yeah. And um, there is, uh– there is another case that we could talk about.

Is there some other crime I’m being falsely accused of? [soft acoustic music]

No. No, but, uh– but there is something that you should probably know.

[tense music]

I wanted Gabi to get caught standing over your dead body, and I was worried Ava’s boss was going to ruin my whole plan.

What the hell happened to you?

Still got a heartbeat. Barely. Probably beyond help. And I don’t need this kind of trouble. [sighs]

[sighs] If he had called an ambulance right then and there, you might still be alive.

So now you’re gonna blame Gil for what you did?

I didn’t have to. Lucky for me, a judge did. And if it wasn’t for Bobby Stein, I would have gotten away with it scot-free.

You have made a breakthrough. I do think, for your own safety, you should stay here a few more days.

Oh. I– I appreciate that. And I know that I need more therapy, you know? But I have a job. And uh– and a relationship that I– that I miss terribly, that I have been neglecting, that are important to me. And I guess now that Bobby’s gone… I just feel like– like I need to be in control of my own life again.

You need to figure out what trauma caused the DID in the first place.

I know that. I absolutely know that. And I’m– I’m committed to having as many sessions with you, Dr. Evans, as you think I need.

I want to heal. But I do feel strongly that I need to be out in the real world in order to do that, to make that progress.

Dr. Evans, in your professional opinion, do you think that Everett is a danger to himself or others?

No. I don’t. You’ve made a very persuasive case. I will sign your release.

Thank you. Both of you. For everything. [ominous music]

[laughs]

Shut up, Kristen.

Oh, my God. Relax, little brother. I’m just playing with you.

Well, I’m not amused. And any idea when your little business meeting is gonna wrap up? ‘Cause I’d like for you to be done before my wife gets back.

Oh, OK. All right. Let’s look at this.

[clears throat]

We’re done.

Thank you. Uh, you know what? No rest for the wicked. Excuse me. I need to take this again.

OK. Just– [tense music]

You know she hates my wife, right? And she would love to tell Gabi what happened between us.

All right. She likes me. She just hired me. It’s not gonna happen.

What about Harris?

Well, you know, he’s a man of few words. And he’s not really into gossip. And besides, he just– he left Salem.

Oh, I hadn’t heard. I’m sorry to hear that. I know how much he meant to you. [soft dramatic music]

So Jada’s ex said that he knows who killed Li Shin, and that it wasn’t Gil Carter?

And he won’t say who it was. [bright acoustic music]

That’s crazy.

So is he.

But the evidence against Gil is what got me exonerated.

Yeah, and nothing can change that. You’re in the clear. And honestly, I don’t think that this guy knows anything. I think he’s just– just blowing smoke so he can spend more time with Jada.

Right.

Gabi, hey. I didn’t say it because I wanted you to worry. I just didn’t– I don’t want you to hear it from someone else.

I appreciate that.

Gabi, you have already lost enough time over Li’s murder. You’re free now. You’re free, thank God, OK? And it’s time for you to focus on getting your life back.

– Gabi and Gil. I got two separate people to take the fall for your murder.

Doesn’t make you any less guilty.

You’re the one who said Gabi’s name in the hospital before you died. You knew it was her fault. You wanted her to take the blame.

Maybe I was afraid she was next. I was trying to warn her. And if you’re having thoughts of avenging my death by hurting Gabi, I swear–

Relax. I’m not worried about Gabi. She can rot in hell for all I care. It’s Bobby Stein I need to deal with. [ominous music]

I will talk to your doctors about getting your release.

Thank you, Dr. Evans.

And I’m very glad that you’re receptive to continued therapy.

I am, absolutely. And I’m– I feel really grateful that I’ll be with you. You’ve helped me a lot.

Thank you. Take care, Everett.

I’m grateful to you too, Jada, for standing by me. I know it hasn’t been easy.

Right. Well, I had an ulterior motive for coming down here today.

What’s that?

Do you remember talking to me about Li Shin?

That guy who was murdered last year? What about him?

Uh– never mind. Don’t even worry about it. Uh, you just focus on getting well, OK?

[breathes deeply]

You keep my name out of this, and I’ll take care of the commish.

[sighs] Sounds like a plan.

Getting my life back? I don’t even know what that means. I– I don’t have a home. No job. It’s like I’m totally starting over.

Well, I wouldn’t say that. I mean, you’ve got, um– you have a husband and a daughter and the world’s most amazing brother.

Who’s on my side no matter what.

Always. Well, I wish I could stay longer, but I’ve got to go. I’ve got to get over to the cemetery.

Cemetery? Why?

All right. Well, if I tell you, this has to stay between us, OK?

Sure. What’s going on?

Well, I don’t know a lot yet, but there’s a slight chance that Abigail DiMera is still alive. [tense music]

Where is Ava?

She left. For good, hopefully.

And your lovely wife?

Out.

Oh. Is there trouble in paradise?

We’ll work through it.

Ah, yes, yes. Uh, but I doubt Nicole and EJ will, since Gabi dropped a bomb on their marriage. And I should have connected those dots when he asked me to hire Melinda Trask. [sighs] Well, I should have realized it was all about Jude.

I was prepared to take that secret to my grave.

[laughs] Yeah, but you couldn’t resist the urge to engage in pillow talk. [chuckles] I bet it’s safe to say that you will not be sharing that other secret with Gabi.

I still can’t believe Ava squawked to you.

Oh, my God. Stefan, you don’t have anything to worry about. You helped me become CEO of DiMera. I mean, I don’t have a reason to make your life miserable.

Hmm. For now.

[sighs] You know, even if you did give me cause, Stefan, I would never do that to Ava. She’s not going to say anything to anyone. She feels really bad about what you two did. She wants to stay as far away from you and Gabi as possible.

Ava. Hi.

Hey.

Can we talk?

Didn’t we talk just a few minutes ago?

We did. I was just having breakfast with Rafe. And, well, among other things, he was just telling me about how I need to get my life back.

Mm.

I think you might be able to help me with that.

Me? How?

Look, I know you and I haven’t exactly gotten along in the past. We’ve had lots of issues.

Yeah, to put it mildly.

Right. Uh, but in the interest of moving forward, I figured that with you working at DiMera and bringing new business in, that I have something that might be of interest to you.

Really? OK. And uh, what business would that be?

Gabi Chic, of course. The brand has a lot of value, and it would fill in the gap left by Basic Black. What do you think about working together? [dramatic acoustic music]

I totally trust your judgment, Dr. Evans. I just hope that Everett is really ready to be on his own.

Well, he no longer meets the criteria for an involuntary hold. So he’s entirely welcome to do what he wants.

Right, right. I get that. Uh, by the way, I– I asked him a few questions about the Li Shin murder when you were arranging his discharge, but he didn’t seem to remember talking to me about it.

Well, why would he? I mean, if Bobby had the experience, why would Everett have the memory of it?

Right. Yeah, of course. You know, I’m very happy that Everett is back. But now I have no way of knowing if what Bobby told me about Gil Carter being innocent or not is true. [ominous music] And if it were true, we may never know who really killed Li Shin.

OK, Connie. I held up my end of the bargain. Faked letting Everett out so that I didn’t have to tell Jada that you killed Li Shin. Now you’d better do your part– get Rafe out of my way.

Yes, Paulina. I’m at the gravesite now. We’ve finished processing the scene. Make sure you send someone down here to fill in this hole. Thanks. Yeah, an open grave can definitely be dangerous. Yeah.

[screams]

[grunts] [groaning]

[tense music]

[crickets chirping]

Steffy: I said goodbye to Douglas, Paris, and Thomas. Looks like maybe you have, too.

Hope: Thomas was here earlier. And I gave him my blessing.

Finn: Mom. Hey.

Li: Oh.

Finn: Are you just gonna walk by and not say hi?

Li: I guess I just didn’t realize which floor I was on.

Finn: Are you okay?

Jack: Finn. You got a sec to talk?

[Li scoffs] Li.

Li: Not again. I swear, Jack, I’m beginning to think you’re stalking me.

Bill: I can’t tell you how much you have both changed the energy around here. I’ve been alone in this big, empty house for a very long time. And now there is laughter again. And I have a reason to come home. And that’s thanks to you two Nozawa women. Well, Nozawa-slash-Spencer. I wanna make that happen, Luna. I wanna give you my name.

Hollis: This is crazy.

Deacon: Hollis! Dude, where are you?

Jack: I’m here for our son, Li. I stop by every now and then whenever I get the chance. You may have cut off all ties with me. Thankfully, Finn has not.

Li: You’re here for Finn? Or are you actually here scouring the halls looking for pretty nurses?

Finn: Okay, can we keep this cordial, please?

Li: Yes, yes. Not a problem. I was just reminiscing.

Finn: And what’s this about? “Not again.” Have you two been seeing each other?

Li: Absolutely not. We ran into each other at Il Giardino the other day. I was just picking up take-out, that’s all.

Jack: And I was having a drink with the bartender Hollis. I was planning on staying for the live music, but the guy was terrible.

Li: You know what happened after you left, don’t you?

Jack: Songs got worse?

Li: He died.

Finn: Wait, you were at Il Giardino the night Tom died? You both were?

Poppy: Blows my mind that you wanna do this and give Luna your name.

Bill: Well, yeah. We gotta get a few years in as a– as a Spencer before R.J. asks her to become a Forrester.

Luna: Okay, slow down there.

Bill: Just saying. Just saying. Look, seriously, it is important to me that you have my name and everything that goes along with it. It’s your birthright, Luna. And I want you to have everything that you’re entitled to.

Deacon: Oh, you’re back.

Hollis: Um, well, yeah, actually, I think I have something very interesting that you want to know.

Deacon: What’s going–Great.

Hollis: Yeah, the last time this happened, the power was out for like six hours.

Deacon: Yeah, I know. Believe me, I’m paying the bills. You know what? Thank God it’s closing time. So, what do you say we, uh– What do you say we just don’t take any more customers? You know, we finish these guys off, you and I grab a beer after?

Hollis: Sounds great.

Deacon: Yeah?

Hollis: Okay. Let’s do it.

Sheila: Poor Tom.

Steffy: You gave Thomas your blessing to marry Paris?

Hope: I did.

Steffy: I’m impressed. I know you were against the idea. You thought Thomas was coming back to be with you.

Hope: Something that I wanted very much. But I have been doing some soul-searching, and I have come to realize that I needed to take a step back and figure out why I want what I want.

Poppy: Well, as much as I enjoy the three of us hanging out like this, there are some errands that I need to run.

Bill: Yeah. Unfortunately, I have to get going as well. I would ask you to come to the office with me, but we’re prepping tonight for tomorrow’s painfully boring tax code meeting, and I don’t wanna scare you away from the company.

Luna: You know, that actually sounds really exciting, but I think I’m good just staying home here. As long as you both swear that we’re gonna have many more days like this ahead.

Bill: Oh, I can easily swear that. Many more days. That’s a promise.

[piano playing soft tune]

Sheila: Hey, Hollis. Is there a problem with the power again?

Hollis: Uh, what?

Sheila: The lights. They were flickering earlier.

Hollis: Oh, right. Yeah. No. Deacon, he’s looking into that.

Sheila: Is something going on with you?

Hollis: I found something out today.

Sheila: Okay.

Hollis: And I don’t know what to think about it, but I think it’s important. And I mean really important.

Sheila: All right, Hollis. So, what do you think you found out?

Hollis: It’s about Tom and how he died.

Finn: Wait. Why am I just now hearing you were there that night?

Li: Didn’t cross my mind to mention it.

Jack: Now I feel badly I called him a terrible singer.

Li: Oh, that you feel bad about? You’ve done far worse.

[phone ringing] Oh, I have to take this. Hi, Peggy. Uh-huh. No, just adjust the meds.

Jack: Hey. Sorry for the pop in. Obviously, I didn’t realize your mom was here. She still wants nothing to do with me.

Finn: Yeah, Dad, just…

Jack: No, no. I get it. I’ll text in the future.

[Finn chuckles] Speaking of texting, before I go, I just wanna say I’m glad you’re communicating with Poppy and Luna. Family is everything. Poppy is wonderful. There’s really nothing I wouldn’t do for her. She’s a gentle soul despite what your mom says. Poppy deserves the very best in life. And I’m glad that she found out that Luna is… Spencer’s daughter.

Steffy: So, there was something driving you to back away from Thomas?

Hope: I guess. Yes. I’ve– I’ve had a lot going on, and I’ve just been doing a lot of thinking.

Steffy: Yeah. Interesting. I mean, that’s why you gave him your blessing. I think it’s good, Hope. I think it’s good for everyone. I am proud of you. I am. And I’m proud of Thomas. You managed to untangle yourselves from a relationship that was never gonna work out.

Hope: Well, I mean, that’s your opinion. And the jury is still out on Thomas and Paris. That is still a very new relationship.

Steffy: It is, but I have a good feeling about it. Yes, they rushed into an engagement, but they’re not gonna rush into a wedding. They’re taking their time solidifying their bond as a family.

Hope: Well, let’s hope so, especially for Douglas’s sake. And I meant it when I wished Thomas my best.

Steffy: So, what triggered this? I mean, something did. Or was it someone?

Li: I don’t want to talk about your father. Have you seen much of Luna lately or your Aunt Penelope?

Finn: In person, no. But I did talk to Luna, and I heard all about Bill Spencer being her father, if that’s what you’re asking. You don’t approve, do you?

Li: You know, I have my issues with my sister. The way she’s lived her life, I– She’s definitely getting what she’s always wanted. She’s incredibly lucky to be embraced by Bill and everything the Spencer name has to offer. Oh, look at the time. I have somewhere to be. Thank you for reminding me what floor I’m on.

Steffy: So, what’s this realization?

Hope: Oh, I–I don’t want to make it something bigger than it is. It’s–It’s fine. It’s just a conversation I had with my mother where she is helping me to see things a little more clearly and make sense of what’s been going on inside of me.

Steffy: Some inner turmoil?

Hope: Sure. You could say that. But I’m– I’m moving past it now, so…

Steffy: Moving past what? What are you talking about?

Hope: It’s really– It’s not important. Don’t give it another thought. It is nothing that concerns you.

Sheila: We’re all really sad about what happened to Tom, but there is nothing to figure out about his death. Hollis, we all know what happened. He fell off the wagon. He overdosed.

Hollis: Yeah. Sure. Okay, maybe. But– But I found something out, all right? And I want to show it to you, okay? So just–

Sheila: Hollis, I don’t have time for this right now.

Hollis: Seriously, just give me one second. I just wanna show you something.

[electricity buzzing]

[sighs]

Sheila: What? What is that?

Hollis: It’s Tom’s backpack.

Sheila: Why on earth would you have Tom’s backpack?

Hollis: I’ve been trying to wrap my head around how and why Tom died. I think I discovered something.

Sheila: What? What are you doing? Are you rifling through his stuff to find his drug stash?

Hollis: No, no, not at all.

Sheila: Because that’s how he died, Hollis. There’s nothing for you to wrap your head around.

Hollis: Yeah, okay, maybe, but look–

Sheila: Stop.

Hollis: I just found–

Sheila: Stop. No. It is wrong to go through his personal belongings. Besides, God, look at it. It’s–It’s filthy. This is a classy place. That is probably a health code violation. So you know what I want you to do with that? You take that dirty thing and you throw it in the dumpster.

Hollis: Throw it in the dumpster?

Sheila: Yes. Take it…

Hollis: Why would I–

Sheila: …and throw it in the trash. Do you hear me? Just do it.

[electricity buzzing]

[exhales]

[electricity buzzing]

Hollis: What are you doing here? Okay, look, I’m glad you’re here, because I really have to talk to someone about this.

[sighs]

Finn: Oh. Hey. Hope. Is Steffy not in yet?

Hope: Hey. Uh–Um, I don’t think so. No.

Finn: Darn. I, um– I was gonna surprise her on my way home. I worked the graveyard shift last night.

Hope: You must be tired.

Finn: Yeah. A, um, power nap is definitely in my future. How are you doing? I heard about Thomas leaving with Douglas and Paris. Hey, I know it’s tough, but it’s for the best. You’ll see. You’ll find the man that you’re meant to be with, Hope.

Steffy: I appreciate you calling me back. And, yes, this is about Sheila. I heard about that singer’s death. Tom Starr. They’re reporting that it’s an overdose, but have you investigated this, Chief Baker? I mean, they’re saying it’s accidental, but I have a very hard time believing that it’s just coincidence that a man dies where Sheila Carter works.

Deacon: All right, the day is off to a good start. Power’s gonna be restored to the restaurant. We can open up on time as scheduled.

Sheila: That’s great.

Deacon: Come here. I didn’t get a chance to do that last night because I was already in bed when you came back. What took you so long to get up here?

Sheila: Yeah, well, I just wanted to make sure everything was stocked, ready to go for this week. You know, it’s therapeutic for me. Checking everything, making sure the numbers are there.

Deacon: Hmm. I like that. What do you say I go downstairs and make a couple of my soon-to-be world-famous espressos, start the day off for you?

Sheila: Why don’t you stay here and let me do that.

Deacon: Okay. Um, everything all right?

Sheila: Yeah. I’m fine. I’m just thinking about how much I love you and our life here together, and… I’m not gonna let anything or anyone take that away from me.

[gasps, screams]

[screaming continues]

Sheila: No!

[whimpering]

Deacon: Sheila, what’s going on? Hollis. Sheila, come help me. Call 911. Oh, my God. Come on. No, don’t say it.

Sheila: He’s gone, Deacon. Hollis is dead.

Here’s a look at what’s ahead.

Luna: I know exactly who did it.

Finn: He died of the same drug that killed Tom.

Deacon: I lost my friends. I want answers. I wanna know what the hell happened.

Hope: I find you attractive.

Finn: You can’t talk this way.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Kayla goes to the Horton House and tells Julie that she’s sorry to barge in like this. Julie says it’s fine and mentions that Doug is upstairs watching Yellowstone on Peacock. Kayla explains that she came because she’s worried about Chad as she’s been trying to reach him but he’s not answering. Julie informs her that Chad is not available because he’s at Abigail’s grave.

Chad and Jack go to the cemetery where Abigail’s grave is being dug up. Chad thanks Jack, knowing it wasn’t an easy decision. Jack can’t believe they are doing this. The crew inform them that the coffin is ready to be opened. Chad asks if Jack is sure he’s ready for this.

Leo tells Kerry that this is happening. Kerry says when he’s attracted to someone, he doesn’t like to waste time as they then kiss.

Jada goes to see Marlena and says she’s sorry to bother her at home but her office said she left for the day. Marlena guesses she’s there because she saw Bobby at Bayview.

Connie goes to see Bobby at Bayview.

Marlena mentions that Stephanie asked Jada to visit Bobby. Jada explains that Stephanie thought she might have better luck having Bobby let Everett out but she didn’t. Marlena notes that she didn’t either. Jada asks if Bobby said anything else to her but Marlena says he didn’t. Marlena knows this all must be very difficult for Jada. Jada confirms seeing him was difficult but not for the reason she thinks. Jada then informs her that Bobby dangled information about one of her cases as he claims to know who murdered Li Shin.

Connie asks if Bobby is going to say hello. Bobby thinks back to seeing Connie in the park, crying and swearing that she didn’t mean to do it to Li. Bobby then asks Connie if they know each other. Connie introduces herself but Bobby says he’s never heard that name before. Connie asks if Li Shin rings any bells.

Julie tells Kayla that she’s been Chad’s sounding board and tried to stand by him through all this as they are both grappling with the uncertainty. Julie adds that Chad has been an emotional wreck, relviing Abigail’s horrific death and then being told all of this. Julie mentions that Chad said Kayla came up with the idea of opening the grave and exhuming Abigail’s body. Kayla knows it’s extreme but if Chad finds out that Abigail’s body is in the grave, it could end this whole speculation of her being alive. Julie confirms it will do that. Kayla says now that she knows where Chad is, she feels a little bit better since she knows Paulina approved her request but then he said they hit a snag, so she was concerned about him. Julie then informs Kayla that it wasn’t a snag, but a person.

Jack tells Chad that he’s not okay. Chad asks if he needs a minute. Jack says it’s not physical and complains about Clyde. Jack feels they are going to open the coffin and Clyde will just be inflicting pain by letting them relive losing Abigail all over again. Chad says Clyde could be lying but if there is any chance that Abigail is alive. Jack then agrees to do this so Chad tells the crew to go ahead. They open the casket to find that it is completely empty, shocking Jack and Chad.

Leo and Kerry continue kissing until Leo stops and decides he doesn’t know if he wants them to sleep together.

Julie explains to Kayla that when Jack found out, he was horrified and then furious so Chad had to bear the brunt of that. Kayla points out that you can’t blame Jack. Julie supposes this is the only way to find out if Clyde is telling the truth. Kayla calls it surreal and can’t believe she’s having this conversation since she’s the one who declared Abigail dead. Julie points out that Kayla doesn’t sound sure. Kayla says she would be foolish to think it’s impossible after everything that has happened. Julie states that their families have had their losses but they’ve had their miracles too. Julie notes that Jack and Chad have been at the cemetery for a long time now, so they must know something.

Jack asks if they opened the wrong coffin. Chad assures that it’s Abigail’s. The crew asks what to do. Chad says he doesn’t know and then tells them that they’ve got it from here so the crew exit.

Jada informs Marlena that Bobby claims to have seen Li Shin’s killer shortly after the murder. Marlena asks what led up to this revelation. Jada calls it a big game of keep away. Marlena notes that conversations with Bobby sometimes feel like a chess match. Jada says she’s been reading a lot and knows that Bobby is his own personality, separate from Everett, but she wonders if that means he has his own motivations outside of protecting Everett. Marlena asks what she is getting at. Jada says it’s very clear to her that Bobby wants her to keep visiting him and he’s trying to restart their relationship. Marlena asks if she thinks he’s just trying to manipulate her. Jada says she doesn’t know if alters are even capable of that which is why she wanted to come talk to her. Jada asks if Marlena thinks Bobby is telling the truth about Li Shin’s murder case or if he’s just stringing her along to give her a reason to keep coming back to Bayview.

Connie tells Bobby that Li was murdered last November. Bobby claims he may have heard something about that since he’s a journalist. Connie thinks this story might have stood out for him. Bobby claims that nothing springs to mind. Connie calls that interesting and says she has no reason not to take him at his word, but questions why he told the police that he does know something about Li’s murder.

Kerry questions what Leo doesn’t want exactly. Leo thinks they should stop then asks him not to be mad as he swears it’s not personal. Leo assures Kerry that he’s incredibly hot. Leo thought he wanted to not resist him. Kerry asks if he wants to try again to be sure but Leo says no as he doesn’t know what the point would be because he’s not feeling much of a spark. Kerry tells Leo not to worry about it as it happens. Leo thanks him for understanding. Kerry calls it a funny way to treat his first groupie. Leo worries that he’s lost a fan but Kerry says no. Leo feels awful and offers to buy him dinner but Kerry says it’s okay. Leo then kisses Kerry one more time and says he just wanted to be sure. Kerry then exits the room. Leo wonders what is wrong with him.

Doug joins Julie and Kayla in the living room and talks about catching up on Yellowstone. Julie invites Kayla to watch with them but Kayla says she promised Steve that she would wait for him. Doug asks what brought Kayla by today. Julie tells Doug that there’s something she hasn’t told him about but now Jack knows, so there is something he has to hear.

Jack asks Chad if it can really be since Abigail’s body is not there. Chad doesn’t know. Rafe arrives and says he just got a call from the city, then is shocked to see the open casket. Rafe tells Chad that he’s so sorry and promises that whoever desecrated Abigail’s grave will pay and that she is returned. Chad then reveals that they don’t know if this actually was Abigail’s final resting place.

Jada tells Marlena that there’s no way to know if Bobby truly has information on Li’s murder or if he’s just using it as a tactic to keep her in his orbit. Jada feels even if there’s a one percent chance, she has to listen. Marlena knows she’s in a tough spot and says she’s glad to talk if she can help at all. Jada says she’s helped already and feels she’s taken enough of her time as she thanks her. Marlena hopes that Jada will investigate further if Bobby is telling the truth since Li was a patient/client to her and she’d like to see him get justice. Jada thanks her again and then exits.

Connie tells Bobby not to judge as she’s not a eavesdropper but she overheard Rafe and Jada talking about how Jada’s ex husband knew who killed Li Shin and that Jada had just came from seeing her ex who lives here in Bayview. Connie says Bobby shouldn’t know this but she and Li were very close and she was devastated by his death, so it’s important to her that his killer get brought to justice which is why she was happy to here that the police zeroed in on Gil Carter. Connie says if Bobby has information pointing to someone else, she’d really appreciate him sharing it with her. Bobby says he’s sorry but he can’t help her as it’s sort of between he and Jada. Connie says she worried he wouldn’t be very forthcoming, so she will have to give him a hand. Connie then asks if he was talking about her.

Marlena answers her door and is surprised to see Leo. Marlena questions what he is doing here. Leo says he desperately needed to speak to her and her office was closed. Leo says he’s not looking for a session and he respects everything about her. Leo tells her he wanted to book a session for tomorrow as early as possible. Marlena asks if he’s alright. Leo says no as something happened tonight that has him worried that he’s morphing into another person. Marlena tells him that she has no plans tonight so they can sit down and talk about it.

Julie and Kayla inform Doug that Chad and Jack are at Abigail’s grave now, hoping they can prove whether or not Clyde is telling the truth about Abigail being alive. Julie tells Doug that she knows it’s a lot to take in. Doug acknowledges that stranger things have happened in their town but declares it would be wonderful news if Abigail is alive. Julie agrees that it would be a miracle.

Rafe says he’s sorry for all the questions but this is hard to believe. Jack says they thought so too while Chad adds that it’s starting to look a lot more believable. Jada arrives and asks about a possible grave robbery. Rafe says he will fill her in but sends her to call for a unit right away. Rafe tells Chad and Jack that they will take over from here and suggests they go home to handle their thoughts. Rafe says the first order of business will be to see if the grave was tampered with after Abigail was put in it. Jack agrees that makes sense. Rafe says that Clyde could’ve created all of this to add to his story of Abigail being alive. Chad admits he wouldn’t put it past him. Rafe says he’ll be in touch. Chad and Jack thank him as they exit. Jada returns to Rafe and asks what is going on.

Bobby asks why he would think Connie killed Li Shin. Connie says that he saw her the night that it happened where she was sitting alone on the bench, deep in thought and she saw someone walking away. Connie says she didn’t see the face but after listening to the cops, she wonders if it was him. Connie adds that she was just taking in the night air and doesn’t know what would’ve given him the impression that she was behind Li’s death. Bobby then recalls her being covered in blood and he heard her say “I’m so sorry, Li, I didn’t mean to do it”. Bobby jokes that he doesn’t know what else would give him the impression that she killed him.

Leo tells Marlena about what happened with Kerry and how he sent him away. Marlena says that like Kerry said, that happens sometimes but Leo argues it doesn’t happen to him. Marlena asks if he’s considered that his reaction was really all about Dimitri. Leo asks if she means because he was the last person he was with. Marlena acknowledges that Dimitri hurt Leo very badly, so she’s wondering if Leo’s interaction with Kerry made him threatened and maybe his instinct to fight or flight kicked in. Leo asks if that means he was protecting himself from being hurt again. Leo points out that Dimitri is long gone, so he thought he was at least kind of over him but maybe he’s not. Leo asks if this means he will never be attracted to another man and if he’s straight now. Marlena tells Leo that he’s just fine and he will meet and fall in love with another man. Marlena thinks he has to be patient and let himself heal from the breakup with Dimitri. Leo agrees to try to be patient with himself and thanks Marlena, saying this has been so helpful. Leo then realizes he’s missing RuPaul’s Drag Race and has to get home. Marlena then invites Leo to watch it here as she would hate for him to miss it. Leo is thrilled to accept the invite.

Connie tells Bobby to mind his own business and stop bringing it up to Jada. Bobby says he can’t and the cat is out of the bag as Jada is on the hunt and she will keep coming around as long as she thinks there is more to learn. Bobby adds that he likes Jada coming around. Connie guesses that’s because he has the hots for her and asks how long she will be coming around. Bobby asks if Connie is going to kill him and says that would be pretty stupid and direct Jada back to her. Connie argues that no one knows she’s here. Bobby points out that there are security cameras all around the place. Connie asks how long he thinks he can string Jada along as she’s going to want definitive answers. Bobby thinks time is on his side and that Jada will realize what she’s missing out on. Connie comments on his ego and reminds him that Jada is dating Rafe, so every night she’s going home to Rafe’s warm bed while Bobby is stuck in this one.

Rafe fills Jada in on everything surrounding Abigail. Jada asks if Rafe thinks Abigail could really be alive. Rafe calls it the most extreme possibility but still a possibility. Rafe adds that there are more probable explanations like it being a hoax orchestrated by Clyde. Jada asks what would be the point other than getting Chad and Jack’s hopes up. Rafe guesses that could be the point since they are dealing with a sadistic psycho. Rafe comments on Chad’s expression when he told him they had to make sure Clyde didn’t take the body. Rafe knows Chad is holding on to hope that Abigail is alive and wants to know where he can find her.

Chad and Jack return home to inform Julie, Doug, and Kayla that Abigail’s casket was empty which shocks them and that Rafe and Jada are there now investigating. Kayla doesn’t understand how it could be since the hospital did everything by the book. Kayla wonders if it’s possible that Clyde could have stole the body. Jack mentions Rafe thinking it was a possibility. Doug asks if they are sure it’s a hoax while Julie wonders if it’s possible that Abigail is alive.

Marlena and Leo watch RuPaul’s Drag Race. Marlena pauses it to ask Leo how RuPaul decides who goes home. Leo informs her that now they have to lip sync and encourages her to continue watching.

Julie tells Doug that Chad has never stopped mourning Abigail and then to hear all this has put him in Hell, hoping it’s true but fearing it isn’t. Julie talks about how long it’s been since Abigail has been with her children. Doug says it’s been painful for everybody. Julie says that Chad and Abigail never had much time together while they’ve had years and years. Julie tells Doug how much she loves him. Julie says she was lost when she first laid eyes on him and everything they went through. Doug says he had to change to deserve her while Julie says he brought out the best in her and they’ve been good partners. Doug talks about raising Hope. Julie calls him a wonderful father and quite the family man as he never let anyone in the family down ever. Julie talks about seeing the whole world and their adventures and says their love outlasted time as they kiss.

Chad and Jack go to the Brady Pub. Chad feels that what happened at the cemetery is just one more piece of evidence that it’s Abigail in the video. Jack points out that they won’t know for sure until Rafe and Jada figure out what happened to Abigail’s body. Chad declares that’s why they need to find the woman in the video.

Jada tells Rafe that if Clyde is staying true to his character, he had the coffin dug up and moved Abigail’s body. Rafe says the question is where to since he’d need a secure location. Jada says unless he buried her somewhere else. Rafe adds that the other possibility is that Abigail was never in there to begin with. Jada calls it all so strange and sad. Jada says her heart goes out to Chad and Jack since they’ve suffered through a lot and losing Abigail. Rafe sarcastically suggests talking to Bobby to see if he has any insight since he’s been helping out with cases lately. Rafe then apologizes for that not being right and insensitive. Jada agrees but says since he brought it up, she was planning on returning to Bayview tomorrow because she wants to see if Bobby will identify the person he says is Li Shin’s killer. Rafe says she knows his opinion. Jada hopes that Bobby is not lying because she’d love to prove Rafe wrong.

Bobby tells Connie that he’s not worried about Rafe. Connie asks if Bobby thinks Jada will be so grateful to him solving Li’s murder that she’ll fall in to his arms. Connie assures that he’s just a job and when she’s done, she’ll go back to her boyfriend with only one personality. Bobby comments on her doing her research but says he thinks he’ll take his chances. Connie asks what if there’s an easier solution for both of them. Connie suggests Bobby keep her name out of this and she will take care of Rafe.
