Danny: Bills, bills, bills and more bills.

Christine: Actually, today is mostly junk.

Danny: Yay. A reprieve.

Christine: What are you up to?

Danny: Well, I just finished the last minute touches on the song that we collaborated on. You know, in the lounge the other day.

Christine: Yeah, I– I remember, believe me. But uh, yeah, there wasn’t much collaborating. You pretty much did it all.

Danny: Oh, no, no. You definitely contributed to the process.

Christine: I’m a woman of many talents but, um, writing music is not one of them.

Danny: No, no, you’re an excellent muse. And that is a genuine talent.

Christine: So, how’s it coming along?

Danny: Well, you be the judge of it. I recorded a demo upstairs.

Christine: Are you– wait. I am so excited to hear it.

Danny: Yeah. Well, you could be the first. You know, one condition.

Christine: Yeah, with you there’s always a catch.

Danny: I’m starved. Have an early lunch or what? Late breakfast or whatever you wanna call it.

Christine: You drive a hard bargain, romalotti.

Danny: Is that a yes?

Chelsea: Hm. Who knew there were so many ways to evade a very simple question.

Summer: No, I’m just not that big on hypotheticals is all.

Chelsea: Oh, come on. Isn’t that what design is? You start with an idea, you turn it into a sketch. People react, you revise it until you finally get it right. I mean, every step of the process is a hypothetical dress. Is it not?

Summer: Okay, but you can’t design your future. Life happens. Priorities change. Outside forces get in the way.

[ Chelsea sighing ]

Chelsea: Why dream about what a future with chance may look like if you might not get it.

Summer: Chelsea, please. Stop.

Chelsea: No, I saw the way you looked at him. The look on your face when he left earlier. It’s obvious that you’re interested. Wait. Is it way past that?

Phyllis: Hey, look who it is.

Summer: Hi, mom.

Phyllis: Good morning, chelsea.

Chelsea: Phyllis.

Phyllis: Am i interrupting something?

Summer: No. No, we were just talking marchetti business. And those sketches are great. You can just take those and run with them.

Chelsea: Fabulous. Thank you.

Phyllis: Marchetti business? Mm. Looked a lot more intimate than that.

Summer: I think you’re imagining things.

Chelsea: Okay. Well, I gotta go. Lots to do. Phyllis, always lovely seeing you. We’ll talk later.

Phyllis: What’s going on? You’re not still shutting me out, are you?

Summer: No.

Phyllis: Summer. The fact that you don’t trust me enough to be honest and truthful with me, that kills me. Honestly, it hurts.

Billy: I had no idea you were in town. When did you get in?

Jill: Well, I wasn’t ghosting you, if that’s what you’re suggesting.

Billy: Good to see you too, mother.

Jill: Oh, for heaven’s sake, darling. There were some things I had to get done right away and now that I have a little breathing room, I’m looking forward to talking with my son. Is that so terrible?

Billy: Not terrible at all? I’m glad you called. I’m looking forward to catching up with you as well.

Jill: Yeah, we didn’t have much chance to do that last time I was in town, did we? You were in crisis mode with jabot and I had some other issues I was dealing with.

Billy: Oh, yeah. Personal or business?

Jill: Um, business. Which brings me to let you in on something. I am positive that mamie johnson is trying to pull a fast one on me.

Victor: Would you sit down, my sweetheart?

Nikki: No, I– I– I– I’m okay. After everything, I– I’d rather stand.

Nick: Oh, boy. Well, that makes one of us.

Victor: Well, what an ordeal. Our family has gone through worse though. And these lunatics will be paying a price.

Victoria: Well, jordan has to be caught first.

Victor: Yeah. They will be. And when we do, I promise you, she’ll join claire in prison. That’s where they both belong. I love that my daughter still needs me.

Announcer: Additional sponsorship provided by…

Nikki: Here you are, darling.

Nick: Thanks, mom.

Victor: Would anyone else like a drink?

Victoria: Yeah. I’ll– I’ll take some water. I’ll get it.

Victor: Cole, how about you?

Cole: Oh, victor, as much as I could use a bourbon, the doc said to stay away from alcohol for the next few days on account of that poison we were all given, so…

Nick: We’re just lucky there was an antidote or we’d all be dead right now. I still have no idea what those women were after.

Nikki: I don’t know that they knew themselves.

Cole: Some sort of convoluted revenge for some things that never actually happened.

Victoria: Well, they seemed to enjoy seeing us terrified and at their mercy.

Nikki: Oh, yes, they did.

Victor: My sweet baby. When I think of what they put you through. This woman you trusted lures you out to that god-forsaken place and then they use you as bait to get us to come follow you.

Victoria: Mom, when we learned what they had done to you, forcing liquor into your veins and trying to keep you subdued. I mean, it’s just heartbreaking.

Nick: I mean, they somehow knew about your history and took advantage. It’s vicious.

Nikki: All right. Please, let’s not all dwell on what happened to me. We all suffered. We were all victims. And now that the vodka has left my system, I am feeling much stronger.

Victoria: Mom.

Nikki: Darling, please. I appreciate your concerns, but I will be fine. Those women tried to break me and they couldn’T.

Victor: Of course, they couldn’t, my sweetheart. You’re a strong woman.

Nikki: Really, the worst part of this for me is realizing that I fell for claire’s deception. How could I have been such a fool?

Victor: I promise all of you, and you, my darling, in particular, those two women will pay for what they have done. They’ll pay a big price. I promise you.

Victoria: Well, I almost feel sorry for claire.

Victor: Why?

Victoria: She’s been trained by jordan to hate us and her whole life is ruined now.

Nikki: Victoria, she is a heartless sociopath. How can you feel anything but contempt for her?

Jill: If my instincts are correct, I may be looking forward to a full-on attack.

Billy: From mamie?

Jill: From mamie.

Billy: What could mamie possibly threaten you with?

Jill: You do know she’s rich now, don’t you?

Billy: So what? Turns out she’s good at business or she knows how to play the stock market or she’s on a hot streak.

Jill: A hot streak for the last 20 years.

Billy: Mom, why do you think she’s coming after you?

Jill: Maybe you also didn’t know that our dear mamie has aligned herself with tucker mccall.

Billy: Meaning what?

Jill: Meaning figure it out, billy.

Billy: Everyone knows tucker’s a shark. Why would she do something so foolish?

Jill: Mamie can be very duplicitous herself. If she’s gonna make a move on me, tucker mccall would be a great ally, wouldn’t he?

Billy: So, I guess the question is, what does tucker get out of this?

Jill: Well, I’m assuming that tucker wants to take my company, chancellor-winters, away from me. And mamie wants her family running the company. So, darling, my question to you is, and I want you to be really straight with me, how content are you working at jabot right now?

Summer: Mom, can we do this another time?

Phyllis: No, I would like to clear the air, okay? I mean, I thought things were getting better between us.

Summer: They are.

Phyllis: Really? Uh, I don’t think so. I mean, the minute I ask about your personal life, you clam up. I mean, god forbid your mom would hear a tidbit of what’s happening in your world.

Summer: I’m sorry that you’re upset. It wasn’t intentional.

Phyllis: So, you and chelsea? Talking about marchetti business? Sitting– sitting like this. Up close. Chelsea asking you questions about your personal life. And then I walk in and both of you bolt up like this. “Oh, wow. Oh, mom heard something.” And then you lied to me. Seriously, summer?

Summer: That is not what I intended.

Phyllis: Is it about chance?

Summer: No. Look, you know what? I gotta get back to work.

Phyllis: Oh, my gosh. You’re doing this again. I can’t catch a break.

Summer: Mom, what do you want from me?

Phyllis: What do you want from me? That’s my question to you. What do you want from me? I’m working so hard to be a better person. I’m working so hard to change. And I am changing. Summer, I am. And I’m doing it for people that I love. You and your brother, I’m doing it for you. But, my daughter, of all people, who I’d go to the moon and back for, every time I come close to you, you put up a wall. I mean, how am I supposed to react to something like that? How am I supposed to respond to something like that?

Danny: So, what do you think?

Christine: It’s beautiful.

Danny: Like the lady herself. ()

Danny: Mm. What? What?

Christine: You really were hungry.

Danny: Do I still eat like a skinny kid at a smorgasbord?

[ Christine chuckling ]

Christine: I can’t believe you remember that?

Danny: Mind like a steel trap.

Christine: Speaking of which, your song is like, it’s right here in my head. I’m gonna be humming it all day.

Danny: That little bit I played you? It’s, um, um, I mean, it’s just an idea. Something wasn’t working and I– I couldn’t, for the life of me figure out what it was, but being with you, I suddenly got this push, and it, um, just all seemed to come together.

Christine: Well, if that’s the case, I’m really happy because the song was incredible. It– it really was.

Danny: Thank you. I was needing one more song to have enough material to go back into the studio, record a new album and judging by your reaction, um, this might be it.

Christine: Oh, that song has to go on the album. It’ll put it over the top.

Danny: Well, I owe you big time.

Christine: Okay. Well, hey, breakfast is on you.

Danny: Absolutely. But seriously, uh, thank you, cricket. Your, um, encouragement is everything. You know, coming back to genoa city, I– I’ve gotten this– this creative burst and between you and phyllis, I found the inspiration that I’ve been needing.

Christine: What? Phyllis has inspired you too?

Summer: Okay, look, I admit it. I did lie about my conversation with chelsea. And I’m sorry, okay? But it’s practically an instinct now and I imagine that it’s the same for daniel. Look, I– I’ll give you this. We shouldn’t do that. Because if you’re trying to earn back our trust, then we at least need to give you a chance to prove yourself, right?

Phyllis: A reasonable response. Thank you very much.

Summer: You’re welcome.

Phyllis: So, does this mean you’ll confide in me and you’ll take my advice? It’s about chance, right?

Summer: I told you that I am not going to pursue him.

Phyllis: Oh, I know you told me that, but it doesn’t– it doesn’t make you stop thinking about him. You know, and have feelings for him, possibly. I mean, the heart wants what it wants, right?

Summer: Okay. Fine.

[ Summer sighing ] I keep finding myself going back and forth between wondering if I should maybe try to work things out with kyle, eventually. And wanting chance so badly that it makes me dizzy sometimes.

Jill: Honey, suddenly I find myself outnumbered in my own company. I mean, devon and lily have been great partners, but you know, family love and loyalty could win out.

Billy: Mom, you are family. You’re the twins’ grandmother.

Jill: I am the twins’, honorary grandmother. Sometimes blood is thicker than water.

Billy: Ain’t that the truth?

Jill: Listen, when we merged the company, devon came in with winters, okay? And he and lily were understandably overjoyed about that. And I brought in chancellor. Their whole side of the business is about family. And now, they’re thinking of bringing nate in so he can redeem himself.

Billy: Nate? After the way he betrayed everyone last time?

Jill: Yes. And trust me, his blind ambition, it hasn’t gone anywhere. Plus, devon is tucker’s son.

Billy: And you’re on the other side, all alone?

Jill: Yes. So my only option is, I think I have to fight fire with fire. I have to bring in some of my own family into upper management.

Billy: Anyone in mind?

Jill: How about it, baby? Would you be willing to step away from jabot and come work with me at chancellor-winters?

Victor: I agree with your mother. That claire woman had a choice. She poisoned us, nearly killed us. I don’t think she deserves our compassion, at all.

Nick: She certainly gets no pity for me.

Victoria: Look, I’m not saying that I feel sorry for her exactly. But I mean, think about it. Think about how she was raised by this psychotic woman who’s old enough to be her grandmother. Who drummed it into her brain, all of these years that– that cole and I are her parents. That we abandoned her. Our whole family abandoned her when she was born and that we’re awful people. I mean, she’s had that drilled into her head all of these years. She’s learned to hate each and every one of us and plot her revenge. So, how is she not– wait, how is she also not jordan’s victim?

Nick: Look, I get what you’re saying, vic, but claire had choices to make and she chose wrong at every step.

Victoria: No, nick. She didn’t know any better. I mean, she’s been in jordan’s clutches practically since birth. She wasn’t– not equipped to make those decisions. Jordan is obviously the evil one. It’s not claire.

Nick: I mean, maybe. What do we even know about this supposed aunt? I mean, is she really eve howard’s sister?

Cole: Well, my mom did have a sister. And from what I know, they weren’t close. So, is jordan she? I don’t know.

Nikki: It’s strange that she would have kept such close tabs on eve’s personal life and then try to plan this revenge all these years later if they weren’t close.

Victor: No, wait a minute. I had my people check her out. Report just came in. We will soon find out what that woman is all about.

Mr. Clean magic eraser powers

through tough messes.

Nikki: What does it say, victor?

Victor: There’s a photograph. That woman is eve howard’s sister. Whoa. Same mother, different father. And she was a registered nurse.

Cole: So, it’s true. She is my aunt.

Nick: Probably the one thing she didn’t lie about.

Cole: Yeah. That– that much I did know. She was a traveling nurse. It was a fairly new thing back then.

Nikki: What else does it say?

Victor: Wow, this is interesting. She did register as a nurse at memorial for a short stint during the time that you gave birth to baby eve. And then she disappeared shortly after the baby died.

Victoria: That– that can’t be true. Jordan can’t be telling the truth about stealing our daughter, can she?

Jill: I realize this is a huge ask, okay? But if I am going to survive this onslaught that I see coming, you may be my only hope.

Billy: Hi.

Chelsea: Hi. I didn’t know I’d be seeing you here.

Billy: How are you?

Chelsea: I’m good.

Billy: Uh, yeah. I was just having little coffee with mom.

Chelsea: Aunt jill. It’s great to see you. How have you been?

Jill: Just fine, thank you.

Chelsea: Is this a bad time?

Jill: Yes.

Billy: No. In fact, your timing is perfect. My mother just made me a very interesting business proposition. One that I think you should hear.

Phyllis: Uh, I’m surprised that kyle’s still on your radar.

Summer: Well, I mean, yeah. He was the love of my life, you know. I really did think that that was gonna be forever. I can’t just turn it off.

Phyllis: Yeah. I know.

Summer: And then there’s harrison. I love him so much and I want to do what’s right for him too.

Phyllis: Yeah. That makes sense. It’s always more difficult when kids are involved.

Summer: Yeah.

Phyllis: You know, I’m– I’m a little surprised that you’re even wondering about this. I– I mean, I thought that you and kyle agreed that your marriage was unsalvageable.

Summer: Yeah. It probably is. I don’t know. Maybe this is just me trying to figure out what the right thing to do is. And maybe that is just an excuse to distract me from my feelings for chance.

Phyllis: What are those feelings? I mean, besides the chemistry? And by the way, let’s not belittle chemistry. It’s very important.

Summer: Yeah. I think that you actually once told me that it was the glue that held everything together when times get tough. Until it doesn’t, I guess.

Phyllis: We’re talking about chance, right? Not kyle?

Summer: Yeah. But what’s the point of talking about chance at all? He’s unattainable.

Phyllis: Oh, no, no. If I’ve learned one thing in my life and one thing only, is nothing is unattainable if you want it badly.

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue. 12 days of gifting

Summer: Wait, wait, wait. So, let me get this straight. Now you’re telling me to stop at nothing to get what I want? Didn’t the new and improved you just recently warn me against that kind of thing?

Phyllis: Yes. Yes. This is the thing. I don’t like seeing my daughter so torn up about this. About you worried about doing the right thing, as opposed to following your heart. I want you to follow your heart. You only get one shot in life, summer. It’s not a dress rehearsal.

Summer: I think I remember you saying that to dad in a fight one time. I, um, can’t remember who won that one.

Phyllis: I’m sure I did.

Summer: Look, mom, this, uh, dilemma of mine, it’s really not that bad. Seriously. I– I am so good. I’m focusing on work. I’m streamlining things over there. It’s– it’s for the best.

Phyllis: Okay. It’s for the best. I’m sure.

Summer: You don’t have to worry about me, okay? I– I honestly just divulged that much because you kind of backed me into a corner.

Phyllis: All right. I understand. You know, I just want you to know I care. That’s all. And, I only brought this up because, uh, that’s what started the argument between us in the first place, so–

Summer: No, were we arguing?

Phyllis: No, but you just don’t want me meddling. It’s fine and I won’T. You come to me next time.

Summer: It sounds like a plan. Okay, enough about me and my love life, or lack thereof. What is going on with you? How are you and daniel getting along at omegasphere? Is there anything interesting going on in your personal life?

Phyllis: Well, funny you should ask.

Summer: Oh?

Phyllis: Yeah. Let’s grab lunch and I’ll tell you all about it, okay?

Danny: I can understand why this would surprise you.

Christine: I think that anything about that woman would inspire you enough to write something so amazing is…

[ Christine sighing ] Okay, I’m sorry. Look, I know, I know. She’s daniel’s mom and you’re making an effort to keep everything civil between everyone. I’m sorry.

Danny: There’s more to it than that. The truth is, I– I’ve seen how phyllis is trying to be a better person. We’ve talked about it. And afterwards, I had this– this breakthrough, you know. I was struggling with this set of lyrics about forgiveness and fresh starts and then all of a sudden, it just sort of came together. So, I figure, give credit where credit is due.

Christine: Well, that’s just great. Now, I’m gonna have to share my cut of the royalties with phyllis.

[ Danny laughing ]

Danny: That’s funny. But really, um, it’s– it’s apples and oranges.

Christine: What do you mean?

Danny: Don’t go comparing yourself to phyllis because I don’T.

Cole: Honestly, I don’t know what to think. To brainwash a young girl for over a 20-year span, making her believe that she was an abandoned baby so that one day jordan could use her as a weapon against your family? And all of this was done because of my mother?

Victoria: But she had to know that it would devastate you too.

Nick: I mean, if she’s really your aunt. Does she have like some grudge against you or something?

Cole: Not that I’m aware of. I mean, this– I don’t understand any of this.

Nikki: If this is about eve, it is about victor and me. That woman was certifiable.

Cole: My mother, she struggled with mental illness most of her life. And she went through a lot of doctors and she was even committed at one point.

Victor: So, you think that jordan woman could have inherited your mother’s afflictions?

Victoria: What kind of sickness causes a person to concoct some convoluted lie and then force some other human being into believing it?

Cole: When jordan said that she had stolen our baby from the hospital, the look in claire’s eyes…

Victoria: She was shocked. Like her whole world had been shaken.

Cole: I don’t believe that this was a con on claire’s part. She’s convinced we’re her parents.

Victoria: It– it’s just– it’s not possible though, is it?

Nikki: Look, claire is a very smart young woman, brainwashed or not. I can’t believe that she didn’t question her aunt’s story at some point. Maybe even ask for a paternity test.

Victor: But wait a minute, that jordan woman is very smart. And she would have anticipated that. And I guarantee you that she would have come up with some kind of proof.

Nick: I agree. Crazy or not, she has a medical background, so she’s familiar with hospitals and paperwork.

Victoria: Okay. Just stop. Just… we’re talking about this as if it could be true. Like claire could be ours and jordan stole her. So, then– then, what baby died? I just– I– I’m sorry, I can’t wrap my brain around any of this.

Cole: Nikki, let me. I need to speak with her in private.

Your heart is

the beat of life.

Billy: My mother is curious how things are going at jabot since she wants me to resign and join her at chancellor-winters.

Chelsea: Oh, well, that’s major. I thought that you meant it was like a side venture or something?

Billy: No. Not a side venture. In fact, I was just about to say how surprised I am by the proposal because I had a rocky road with lily while I was there.

Jill: Yeah. But that is ancient history. Given all the success you’ve had at jabot, I am convinced that you’re finally learning from your mistakes.

Billy: Wow. Okay. I mean, it’s backhanded, but I’ll take it.

Chelsea: I think she’s being sincere.

Billy: Yeah. Sincere, huh?

Jill: I’m absolutely being sincere. In this past year, you’ve made tremendous headway. You’ve really come into your own in so many ways.

Billy: I actually agree with you. I know what I’m doing and I’m making the right decisions.

Chelsea: From my vantage point, you’re definitely in charge at jabot.

Jill: Okay. So, here’s a question. How are you enjoying working with jack? You know, because the rest of us find him pretty insufferable most of the time. And I just wondered if you have a good relationship with him?

Billy: You know I do, okay? He’s my brother. I owe him everything.

Jill: Everything? Well, you may believe that. I don’t think that’s necessarily the case. But my question to you is, are you willing to leave him and join forces with me?

Nikki: Gentlemen, can I get you anything else?

Victor: No, sweetheart. Nothing.

Nick: No. I’m good. I think you’re right. I just need to get some food in me.

Nikki: Well, you both have been through a terrible ordeal.

Nick: What about you, mom? You had it way worse. Those two had you trapped in that room for days before we got there.

Nikki: I still feel very guilty.

Victor: Why?

Nikki: Just the way I fell into this nightmare and then pulled all of you in with me. I should have seen the signs.

Nick: Mom, come on. Nobody did.

Victor: Sweetheart, that woman was a very clever woman. Okay? And if anyone is to blame for this, I’m looking at myself.

Nikki: You?

Victor: Yeah.

Nikki: You were merely told that I was sick. You came to bring me home.

Victor: Mm. You’re forgetting one thing, my past with eve howard, okay? She targeted me at the time. Remember that?

Nikki: Yes. And now, we’re all targets. Do you think that jordan was telling the truth? That claire could be victoria and cole’s daughter?

Victoria: This is just all so unsettling.

Cole: I just can’t believe it happened.

Victoria: I know. The way that we were brought together, all of us, under such bizarre circumstances. How did you even know to show up at that house?

Cole: I got a text from nikki saying that you were sick and asking for me.

Victoria: My mom? That’s not… oh, yes. Her phone. That was probably after jordan had her incapacitated.

Cole: I was in L.A. Researching a book and I flew up to oregon and I stepped right into the trap.

[ Victoria sighing ]

Victoria: Yeah. We all did. We’re talking around it, cole.

Cole: I know.

Victoria: We were so young. And eve was just so weak. She was so– so frail. She needed to fight. Obviously, she couldn’T.

[ Victoria sighing ] When she didn’t make it…

Cole: I don’t think either of us was ever the same.

Victoria: Do you know the loss of a child? That’s just not something that you ever get over. And here it is again, being thrown in our faces in the most painful and brutal way imaginable.

Cole: Whatever closure that we might have gotten over the years, that’s been ripped apart.

Victoria: I know. Oh, god, all we have now are questions. We don’t have any answers. Do you think it’s possible that claire is our daughter that we only thought we buried?

Whenever you’re hungry,

Christine: So, that was fun. Grabbing something to eat, listening to your new song, knowing that there’s a whole new album of them coming out. How long has it been?

Danny: Way too long, unfortunately.

Christine: I agree. I agree. There needs to be more beauty in the world and joy and more reasons to get out and dance.

Danny: You know, you’re making me want to book that studio right now and start recording.

Christine: You should. You should go.

Danny: What time is it?

Christine: But you know, one thing and this is gonna sound like such a groupie, but can you send me that song so I can listen to it again?

Danny: Yeah, of course.

Christine: Okay. Oh, what’s– what’s it called, by the way?

Danny: “Hawaii on my mind?”

[ Christine sighing ]

Christine: That’s the perfect title.

Billy: Look, truth is I am happy at jabot, okay? Yes, jack and I, we– we have our struggles. There’s no doubt about that. You add in kyle and he’s been very clear that he wants his old job back. There are challenges.

Chelsea: That’s putting it mildly.

Billy: But I’ve stuck around long enough to make sure that tucker does not get his hooks into my family’s company. And he is just as much a threat to jabot as you think he may be to chancellor-winters.

Jill: Really? Um, jack has ashley. And kyle and diane. I have no one. I need you, billy.

Victor: We need more information before we accept anything that jordan woman says as fact. She’s a liar.

Nick: A dna test would be a good start.

Victor: Of course, we have to make sure that we put them behind bars. We can worry about the rest later.

Nikki: Victoria must be reeling, being forced to remember that time.

Nick: I remember the day vic and cole had to say goodbye to their little girl.

Nikki: It’s been difficult enough lately with her thinking that you had lost faith in her at newman. Now this. It’s enough to make anyone act out.

Cole: I wish I had answers, but I don’t know any more than you do. Maybe jordan’s lying.

Victoria: And if she’s not lying? Maybe she’s not. But until the police arrest her and start an investigation, I mean, I guess none of us will know what’s real.

Cole: Well, if, what jordan claims is actually true, and that’s a great big if, then claire grace could be our premature baby all grown up. We need to find out one way or the other. And I think that starts with facing claire again.

Sharon: Chance, you look great. How are you feeling?

Chance: I’m feeling great. Feeling great. Pain’s minimal. I’m sleeping through the night. I’m good as new.

Sharon: Wow.

Chance: And look at you. You’ve got a little extra pep in your step this morning.

Sharon: I do. Well, everything is coming together with the new and improved kirsten incorporated and the launch is coming up soon.

Chance: You’re keeping that name?

Sharon: Of course, I wanted to change it, but at first, it was S.N.A. And then adam was out. So, it was just S.N. And now, it’s only me. So, I guess I’m just left with what? S? I don’t know if that works.

Chance: Yeah, you know, easy to pronounce. Just not that catchy.

Sharon: Well, maybe you can help me brainstorm something.

Chance: I would absolutely love to. That’s very exciting. Congrats. You know what? I actually have some very good news of my own.

Sharon: You do?

Chance: Yeah. I’ve made a decision about my future.

Kyle: So, now that I’m coo, how exactly do you plan to take advantage of my new inside position?

Tucker: I thought you’d never ask.

Jack: Still, I would like to shave another five percent off these east coast warehouse costs.

Billy: Believe me, jack, I would too, but five percent seems aggressive. Two seems a little more reasonable.

Jack: Hey, welcome back to jabot world headquarters.

Billy: Any news on the electrical issue at the building, mr. Coo?

Kyle: It should be taken care of before lunch. We’ll be back in the office before the end of the day.

Jack: Hey, that’s great. You know, I kind of like this. All of us working here together. Oh, I gotta take this guys. But, uh, let’s talk when I’m done.

Billy: Sure.

Jack: Susan, thanks for getting back to me. Yeah.

Billy: First day on the new job and you’re only showing up now.

Kyle: I was here earlier. I actually live here.

Billy: Yeah. Where’d you go? What’s more important than your new job?

Devon: Listen, one thing that I know for sure is that I don’t want to play games with tucker. I don’t want to pretend that everything’s okay between him and me. Deceiving people is what he does. It’s not what I do. And if we ever do reconnect, it’s gotta be real.

Ashley: I’m not asking you to pretend. I know that you’re a man of integrity, makes you the perfect partner for my daughter. Although I have to admit, when it comes to people like tucker, fighting fire with fire sometimes seems like the only recourse.

Devon: Yeah. But you know how he operates. He earns your trust to betray it.

Ashley: I know. He’s very angry and he’s taking it out on chancellor and jabot and I just thought that if you– if you reconnected with him, it would get him to back off.

Devon: You think he would back off and he would calm down and leave our companies alone?

Ashley: Ah. Something like that. Would you at least consider forgiving him?

Tucker: Hey.

Audra: Hi.

Tucker: So, I just saw your boyfriend.

Audra: Hm. Which one?

Tucker: Kyle.

Audra: And?

Tucker: He asked a lot of questions.

Audra: So, he just wants to be clear on the assignment.

Tucker: No, that’s not it. I mean, yes, of course, he could be nervous and unsure of himself, but he’s always struck me as a little cocky. Self-doubt is not his thing.

Audra: Then what?

Tucker: He’s got a plan of his own.

Audra: What kind of plan, tucker?

Tucker: He’s gathering information, just as I suspected. So, what more do you need to see that he cannot be trusted? You’ll find them in cities, towns and suburbs all across america. Audra: Look, I think you’re wrong, tucker. I’ve seen the look in kyle’s eyes. I can tell when he wants something and he wants this, badly.

Tucker: What he wants is his daddy’s approval. Nothing more. And to capture the abbott white whale, me. Also to push billy out of the chair he thinks rightfully should be his.

Audra: Okay. Well, if you’re right–

Tucker: I’m right.

Audra: All right then. If you really feel that way, what are we doing here? How is this plan gonna work?

Tucker: We’re gonna use the knowledge to our advantage. He’s so desperate for his dad’s approval, he’ll be easier to manipulate.

Audra: I’m warning you, tucker, you’re underestimating kyle.

Tucker: You know what? Someone should tell him that about me. Why do you keep sticking up for him and justifying him? Audra, please don’t tell me you’re falling for this guy.

Kyle: I wasn’t here because I had to deal with the electrical issue.

Billy: Oh, yeah. Were you up on the ladder with a voltage meter trying to get the lights turned back on?

Kyle: No, not exactly, but why do you care, billy?

Billy: Why do I care? I– I– I find it odd that you would, you know, be late on your first day back at jabot.

Kyle: Well, I didn’t realize I was still interviewing for the job.

Billy: Kyle, you were so contrite with jack, insisting that this miraculous turnaround was real. You know, brimming with enthusiasm to be back at jabot. And no, it’s not in the position that you actually wanted, but it’s a family company and now you’re late on your first day.

Kyle: Okay. I had errands to run this morning. I had to step out.

Billy: Must have been important.

Kyle: Yeah, they were.

Billy: Yeah, you want to share with me?

Kyle: You still don’t trust me, do you, billy? You don’t believe that I am happy coming back to the company as coo. Is that it?

Billy: Trust me, kyle. I don’t want to doubt you. Okay? But with all the co-ceo or nothing talk, I’m finding a hard time trusting that this is sincere.

Kyle: Okay. So, what is it? You think I’m secretly gunning for your job, that I have some master plan to oust you from the executive suite?

Billy: No, but you had a very fast turnaround. That’s all I’m saying.

Kyle: I came to my senses. I realized the coo job was perfect for me and I took it. So, what exactly is so suspicious about that?

Billy: That’s a good question. Why don’t you tell me? Kyle, I’m pretty good at reading people. Right now, by gut is telling me that something’s not right.

Kyle: What does that even mean? What, you’re gonna watch my every move? Make me punch a time card? Follow me as I run my errands?

Billy: What it means is now is probably a really good time to rethink your priorities.

Devon: Ashley, I’m sorry, but I’m not ready to forgive tucker and I don’t want to fake it.

Ashley: I understand. You’re very hurt and you’re angry.

Devon: Well, I know we’re all angry at tucker. And I know that we’re both concerned about what he’s gonna do to our companies, but I don’t want to just pretend that everything’s okay between us to find out.

Abby: Look, none of us want tucker to do more damage to the people that we care about, so maybe if you can convince tucker that you forgive him, then maybe he’ll forgive my mom. Not that you need forgiving.

Ashley: Thank you, honey.

Abby: Maybe we can stop this destruction that he’s planning.

Devon: I get all that. I know what the plan would be. But like you said, it has to be sincere for him to buy it. And it won’t be because I can’t just pretend to feel something that I don’t really feel.

Ashley: I hear you. It’s okay. I’m just gonna have to give more thought as to what to do next. Thanks for meeting me.

Devon: Of course. I’m sorry.

Abby: Love you.

Ashley: Bye, honey.

Abby: Bye.

Ashley: See you guys.

Devon: See you.

Abby: You are such a good man. You’re so kind and loving. Those are just a few things that I love about you. But when it comes to tucker, I’m starting to think that my mom is right. I think we need to fight fire with fire.

Sharon: Okay. Well, don’t keep me in suspense. Tell me what you’ve decided.

Chance: Well, I’m gonna leave the gcpd.

Sharon: Wow.

Chance: Mm-hmm. I think I’m gonna leave law enforcement altogether. I think it’s time to refocus and do something else.

Sharon: You’re a great police officer. The best. But, I can’t say that I’m disappointed with what you’ve decided you want to do. I mean, after you got shot…

Chance: Yeah, I know that shook everybody up pretty badly.

Sharon: Especially your mom, I think. It sounds like she’s been through a lot with you.

Chance: I know. You know, she’s wanted me to quit for years. She’s wanted me to get a nice, safe, normal job. So, I don’t think I can keep putting her through this.

Sharon: She knows you can only cheat death so many times.

Chance: Well, it’s not just that. I– I think it’s more about how my job affects the people that I care about the most. How many times can I put everyone through the same ordeal over and over again? It’s not fair to my parents. It’s not fair to dominic, especially as he gets older. It’s not fair to you. That’s why I think getting shot, again, it was a wake-up call. It’s time for a change. (Hamlet) it’s beggin’!

Sharon: All of us who care about you know exactly what we signed up for. A little extra dose of anxiety here and there, an occasional sleepless night. But we’re also full of pride and admiration. You keep our city safe, chance. You make it a better place. Are you sure this is what you want?

Chance: It is. Yeah.

Sharon: Have you told nina?

Chance: Oh, no, no, no. Not yet. She had to go back to L.A. For a meeting, so. She’s coming back in a few days. I’ll tell her then.

Sharon: So, are you going to resign right away? Today?

Chance: Well, I gotta go to the station and tell the appropriate people, you know. I wanna make sure I offer some help so they can find a replacement. I– I– I can’t just walk away like that, you know. I wanna make sure they’re in good hands before I go.

Sharon: Well, I would expect nothing less. And then what?

Chance: Well, spending time with you was pretty high on my list.

Sharon: That sounds fantastic, but you know what I meant? What is your next move career-wise? Are you gonna go into private security or have you been considering what jill said?

Chance: It’s been on my mind.

Sharon: So, you’re really thinking about going into the high stakes corporate world?

Devon: I appreciate what you’re saying about me, okay? I do. But I made it very clear where I stand after I found out that tucker was lying about his connection to mamie. I told him I didn’t want him anywhere near me. Which means I don’t want him anywhere near you or dominic.

Abby: But what if he’s plotting against your family’s company and my family’s company? Shouldn’t we do whatever it takes to stop him?

Devon: What are we gonna do if he doesn’t believe me? He’s not stupid. I told him I want him to stay away from me and my family. He’s not gonna believe that I just had a change of heart overnight.

Abby: What if tucker reaches out to you?

Devon: He’s not gonna do that.

Abby: You don’t know that. What if tucker makes the first move? Couldn’t you at least be receptive?

Devon: Yeah. Sure I could. For the family’s sake. But he’s not gonna come running to me begging for forgiveness.

Abby: I’m not so sure.

Audra: You know, do we need to go over this again? You sense something or whatever, but you’re wrong. Okay? I’m no more smitten with kyle than I was the first time you brought it up. We just have fun. We work well together and that’s it. There’s no, there, there. There’s no substance. No love story.

Tucker: If you say so.

Audra: I got my eyes on the prize. Like always.

Tucker: I’m glad to hear it. It’s in my mind because he’s just a haircut. He’s a tool we can use and throw away.

Audra: Okay, wait. Why can’t kyle run jabot alongside me after we seized it? He knows the company inside and and out. It makes good sense to keep him around.

Tucker: Because you’re capable enough to get the inside scoop on your own.

Audra: You know, I’m starting to worry that your need for revenge is clouding your usually excellent judgment.

Tucker: No.

Audra: You know, combine that with a dash of overconfidence and I think we have a recipe for failure.

Tucker: No, ma’am. I am seeing a world with extreme clarity. I am as cool-headed as ever. You’re the one that seems to be second-guessing everything. Do I need to worry about you?

Audra: No, I’m good. You don’t need to worry about me. I’m like a cat.

[ Audra hissing ]

[ Tucker chuckling ] I will always land on my feet.

Tucker: What does that– what does that mean? I mean, in human terms?

Audra: It means I will always land on the side of success, wherever that may be. And if it starts to look like your little obsession is getting in the way of my success, I’ll jump ship.

Tucker: Will you?

Audra: In a heartbeat.

Tucker: Yes. That’s very cold-blooded of you.

Audra: Just how you taught me. Look, I make my own choices and I choose success.

Kyle: You think you have me all figured out, but let me assure you, you couldn’t be more wrong.

Billy: Glad to hear that. Because trust me, kyle, I would really like to be wrong.

Kyle: And I may not be the poker player you are, but I am an exceptional people reader myself.

Billy: Good for you.

Kyle: It could be an abbott thing, I guess. You know, I can figure out people’s motivations, sometimes before they even can. And billy, your insecurity’s showing. A man who’s constantly looking over his shoulder, worrying about what other people are doing. He feels like a fraud, an imposter. That’s not a man that should have a position of power. Summer. What are you still doing here?

Summer: Uh, you know that I’m working here today. Where have you been?

Kyle: Why is everyone asking where I was? I told myself I was ok

Summer: Wow, you’re this stressed on your first day. It’s not a good sign.

Kyle: Summer, I’m sorry. It’s just some family drama, you know how it is.

Billy: I– I understand all that, but the deadline was last week, so I’m gonna need a better explanation.

Summer: Family drama with billy?

Kyle: Yeah. Who else?

Summer: I don’t know. In this family, it could be any number of people.

Kyle: Right now, it’s all about billy.

Summer: Do you wanna tell me what’s going on?

Kyle: My uncle refuses to give me the benefit of the doubt. He’s convinced that no matter what I say, I want his job and I am carrying out some underhanded scheme to get it.

Summer: Well?

Kyle: Well what?

Summer: I mean is– is he wrong?

Kyle: What? You’re on billy’s side now?

Summer: Kyle, come on. You hate that billy is in the co-ceo spot and you’ve been pretty vocal about it. So, what are you telling me? That you’ve suddenly changed your mind?

Tucker: So, if you feel this isn’t working out, you’re gonna jump ship? To what exactly? Kyle abbott? Good luck with that.

Audra: Again, you’re underestimating kyle.

Tucker: No, audra. Kyle is– he’s– he’s not the rogue that you make him out to be. He’s just a daddy’s boy. Oddly enough, he’s a mama’s boy too. He doesn’t fool me for a second. And I’m just mystified as to why he continues to fool you. I’m the only one who can… anyway, it’s time to start trusting me again.

Audra: Okay.

[ Audra chuckling ]

[ Audra sighing ]

Tucker: What?

Audra: Now, who’s really being fooled here? What makes you think I ever truly trusted you?

Tucker: Hm. Yeah, that’s fair enough. I guess trust has always been a delicate balancing act between the two of us, hasn’t it? It’s a fine line between trust and total distrust. It’s kind of like– kind of like loving and hating someone simultaneously.

Audra: Yeah. Well, I’ve never loved or hated you, tucker.

Tucker: Really? Because I…

Audra: You what?

Tucker: Well, like I said, it’s complicated. We are complicated.

Audra: Yes, we are. Known for following your dreams. For almost 100 years, harry and david has been making gourmet gifts to share with loved ones near and far. Because giving is about more than a day on the calendar. We believe the world would be a better place if we all shared more. Harry and david. Life is a gift, share more. (Vo) get in the holiday spirit

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue

Devon: Listen, tucker can try and make things right with me all he wants, but I’m not interested.

Abby: So, reconciliation is just off the table?

Devon: Well, we’re not talking about reconciliation. We’re talking about faking it. And I don’t want to do that just so your mom can find out what he has in store for jabot.

Abby: And what he has in store for chancellor-winters.

Devon: Jill, lily and I can handle him when it comes to that. I’m not worried.

Abby: Look, devon, I get where you’re coming from. But all of the confidence in the world is not going to erase my concern for whatever tucker is planning, okay? Yes, you and your sister and jill, you’re a formidable team, but I do not trust tucker to play fair. And whatever he’s planning for chancellor-winters, if he pulls it off, it’s going to affect you. And in the long term, it will affect dominic.

Devon: Okay. So, what are you saying?

Abby: Look, I know that you want to take the high road. You want to keep everything above board, but I will fight for my family. I would like to do it honorably, but if I have to get down and dirty, I will. I won’t walk away. I’ll do what needs to be done.

Tucker: Hey, ashley.

Ashley: Hey tucker.

Tucker: I guess we’re gonna have to get used to this, huh?

Ashley: Well, yeah, it’s a small town. We go to to the same places, so we’re bound to run into each other.

Tucker: Well, luckily, I’m pretty good at being polite.

Ashley: Why are you being so hostile towards me? We just saw each other yesterday. I proposed that you take over glacade and you were very amenable, at least then.

Tucker: Well, you know me. I’m mercurial. That’s what the business press refers to me as. Mercurial tycoon changes course. Mercurial mogul has a change of heart and all that.

Ashley: You are the most interesting man alive and clearly you believe your own press.

Tucker: Yeah. I don’t know what to believe anymore. I’ll see you.

Ashley: Excuse me. Excuse me. So, really, what– what happened? I gave you that opportunity to take over the company and you jumped at it. And now, you’re just acting like an ass. What changed?

Kyle: My change of heart isn’t so abrupt. I’ve been thinking about it for a while.

Summer: Okay.

Kyle: I was having a hard time accepting billy as co-ceo, but I’m over it. For the good of the family.

Summer: So, you have accepted billy and the job. And you– you’re happy with coo because all you want to do is work with your father and be a part of the family legacy, no matter the position.

Kyle: Exactly. Look, I’m not working an angle. I gave up being co-ceo and I accept that I can’t have it back just because I want it.

Summer: Wait. Do you regret stepping down to run marchetti?

Kyle: I do. Look, I’m sorry. And I know it’s hard to hear, but maybe I wouldn’t have to be restarting my career if I had stayed where I belong in the first place.

Summer: Yeah, but you didn’t have any way of knowing how things would turn out. Professionally, personally.

Kyle: Yeah. True.

Summer: Does your regret go back even further than that? Because I think that mine might.

Kyle: What do you mean?

Summer: I don’t know if we– if we had never come back from milan, if we had never brought marchetti under the jabot umbrella. I mean, would we still be together? We were happy in italy, right? Is it possible that coming home to genoa city was the beginning of the end for us? To 50 years with my best friend and my soulmate.

Kyle: Do I think about what might have been? What could have happened if we never left milan where things were just different?

Summer: Yeah.

Kyle: Yeah. I– I– I try not to think like that, summer. You can go down a deep, dark hole if you think about what could have been. What if?

Summer: Yeah. I don’t really think about it either. It just sort of occurred to me right now.

Jack: Summer. I didn’t know you were here.

Summer: Yeah. I’ve been working from the upstairs study.

Jack: Oh, good choice. You got a minute to go over a few things?

Kyle: Mm. Absolutely.

Jack: All right. Follow me. Oh, and could you grab my laptop?

Kyle: Everything would have been different if we didn’t come back. But we did. We can’t change what happened after that.

[ Knock on door ]

Chelsea: Hi. You ready for me? Summer? Are you okay?

Summer: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Of course, yes. Sorry, I just have a lot on my mind.

Chelsea: Well, I got the sketches back, based on your notes. You want to take a look at them?

Summer: Yes. Yeah. Um, could we just not do it here, actually?

Devon: Babe. Listen, tucker’s not somebody you wanna mess with.

Abby: Neither am I.

Devon: I know that and I love you for it and I know that you– you probably could go head to head with tucker.

Abby: Damn right, I could. I have.

Devon: I– I’ve seen you do it. I know.

Abby: Look, I’m not just gonna sit around and wait for tucker’s next move.

Devon: What are you gonna do then?

Abby: Nothing at the moment, but, you know, you should give me a role at chancellor-winters. Hell, put me on the board.

Devon: Put you on the board? I don’t know if I can do that.

Abby: Of course you can do that. This is the kind of move we need to make to show tucker that I’m in this fight too.

Tucker: You know, the hardest part about what happened in paris? The most painful? Realizing you still love someone you can no longer trust. I guess love takes longer to fade.

Ashley: How come I feel like you’re still blaming me for what happened? You take no responsibility at all.

Tucker: I said I was sorry.

Ashley: I said I was sorry.

Tucker: And yet, here we are. It seems like nothing has changed. Thank you.

Ashley: I saw devon.

Tucker: Okay.

Ashley: And, uh, I talked to him about, you know, your relationship with him and, uh, how he’s feeling emotionally and everything.

Tucker: And?

Ashley: It’s not good.

Tucker: So bad that you don’t think you’ll be able to help us make peace.

Chance: I can’t even believe that I’m even considering going to work for the family business.

Sharon: It is your legacy. Your grandfather’s company. Now, half of chancellor-winters with your grandmother in charge.

Chance: Yeah. But growing up, I was just, I was more than disinterested. You know, I almost opposed the idea of doing it. And here we are now.

Sharon: Think it was a calling.

Chance: Mm. Maybe. Maybe, it was katherine’s voice, you know, whispering in my ear, telling me what to do. You know when my grandfather died, she stepped into the business, she didn’t know anything about it, but she made that place a huge success.

Sharon: That she did.

Chance: I’ll figure it out. I’m not too worried about it. Right now, I need to find a way to step down from the department without causing any kind of disruptions.

Sharon: Well, I think this is cause for a celebration.

Chance: What? Celebration for– for leaving a job? I– I don’t think that’s how it works.

Sharon: No, you have to do something special to mark the occasion of this big decision of yours. Your new life.

Chance: Yeah, that sounds great and all, but I think I am much more interested in celebrating you. Now, you are on the verge of something just as huge and life-changing.

Chelsea: Oh. Hi, sharon. Hey, chance.

Chance: Hey.

Summer: Hi.

Chance: Hi. Good to see you two. Um, I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be rude. I, uh, I gotta get to the station. I still have a job ’til I don’t, right?

Summer: Wait, does that mean?

Chance: Yeah. Yeah, I’m stepping down.

Summer: Oh, my gosh, chance. That’s– that’s huge. But I mean it must feel good to have made a decision. I know it’s been weighing on you.

Chance: A little bit, yeah. I still have some reservations about it, but I think it was the right choice. And you know what? I have to thank you for being such a good friend and you know, talking me through everything. So, thank you.

Summer: Of course, anytime.

Chance: Well, uh, I’ll see you all around.

Chelsea: Bye.

Febreze

Summer: Chelsea, these are great. I mean, honestly, such an improvement. You– you took my notes and you translated them for the design team really well.

Chelsea: Well, thank you. And you know chloe was a huge part of the process, so she deserves a lot of the credit.

Summer: Yeah. I am very appreciative that chloe stepped in when you had to work remotely to be with connor. She was an asset and I’m sorry she didn’t feel like we could all work together, but I get it. I’m a kind of a demanding boss, I guess.

Chelsea: Well, demanding in a good way. Really. You want everyone to do their best. You want what’s best for marchetti. And chloe, listen, I’m allowed to say this because she’s my best friend. She’s so smart. She’s incredibly talented, but she doesn’t like being told what to do. Oh, gosh, but I am gonna miss working with her.

Summer: I am too. I really am. And gosh, this year has been filled with upheaval and I would, um, I’d be happy with the status quo for a little while, honestly.

Chelsea: Mm. So, how’s your status quo?

Summer: Professionally, it’s– it’s pretty good, right? Personally, kind of a mess.

Chelsea: Kyle?

Summer: Our divorce is in progress.

Chelsea: Summer, I’m so sorry. The last time we spoke about personal stuff, you said that you were at peace with the end of the marriage and you were focusing on moving forward.

Summer: It’s still hard.

Chelsea: I get it. Correct me if I’m wrong, but you and kyle had some really wonderful memories. Some beautiful moments. And I’m sure you wouldn’t trade those in even if you knew how things were going to end.

Summer: True.

Chelsea: And you have harrison. I mean, you have your son. I know he’s your whole world.

Summer: Yeah, he really, really is.

Chelsea: So, there you have it. The good outweighs the bad. You just have to think of it that way.

Summer: Mm. Okay, I like that. You’ve been through this before, haven’t you?

Chelsea: Sadly, I have. Divorce is a very long, very rough road. I’m not denying that. But you just have to focus on all the wonderful things happening right now and all of the wonderful things that are going to happen. Speaking of which, um, I saw you talking to chance earlier.

Summer: Yeah?

Chelsea: Yeah, you had this expression on your face. And then a certain look on your face when he left. Um… is that something you would pursue? Are you interested in chance?

Summer: No, no. Okay.

[ Summer sighing ] I do like him. He’s been a really good friend to me, especially when my mom was gone. But it doesn’t matter because um, he’s seeing sharon. And I don’t want to interfere.

Chelsea: Are sharon and chance serious?

Summer: Okay. Why is everybody asking me that question? It’s so weird. I don’t know how serious they are, but they are in some kind of a relationship and I just don’t want to be the other woman.

Chelsea: Mm. Okay. Just answer me this. If things could work out, whichever way you wanted them to, what would that look like?

Jack: All that is to say, I am over the moon about having you back at jabot.

Kyle: Well, I’m excited too, dad.

Jack: You know, I think you should spend today getting caught up and then once we’re back in the building, get with your assistant and decide what projects you want to get involved with. We have a number of new products in the pipeline and I think your considerable expertise in marketing could come in real handy. I’d love to know your thoughts.

Kyle: That’s not really my area. Marketing is a long way from operations.

Jack: Well, I know that, but we still want your input. This is what I always wanted. Working side by side with my son. Just like I worked by your grandfather.

Kyle: This isn’t my first stint in the jabot executive suite, dad.

Jack: Well, I know that, but this seems different. Like it’s, well, like you’re here to stay.

Kyle: And I wouldn’t say I’m working by your side.

Jack: What do you mean?

Kyle: I’d have to call it one step removed. I’m down a rung or two.

Jack: Look, I know that’s a sore spot with you.

Kyle: Yeah. Not exactly. I mean, I’ve accepted that I don’t have to be co-ceo to make a significant impact at the family company.

Jack: Good. I’m glad to hear that. Look, this coo position is a key position. I have all the faith in the world in you and trust that you are going to give jabot your very best.

[ Phone ringing ]

Kyle: Yes.

Audra: I need to see you right away. In my suite.

Kyle: It can’t wait?

Audra: No, come here now.

Kyle: I’ll see you soon.

Ashley: I’m not going to give up on trying to mend your relationship with devon. It’s just gonna be more difficult than I thought to get him to forgive you, so you’re gonna have to work a little harder.

Tucker: I still don’t know why you care.

Ashley: We’ve been over this. Because of our grandson, because of dominic. And frankly, you’re a much nicer person when devon is in your life.

Tucker: I think this– the rift between devon and me is more business than personal. I think he’s– he’s concerned about chancellor-winters and my investment with mamie. You know the…

Ashley: Well, I think we both know that business and personal interests are never really completely separate. You and I are a shining example of that, aren’t we? I will help you get your relationship with devon back on track. I know how hard you worked. And you were in a good place and I know how much it means to you to spend time with dominic, so.

Tucker: It does mean a lot to me. I appreciate your intention.

Ashley: Look at us being civil.

Tucker: Hooray for us.

Ashley: It wasn’t too terrible.

Tucker: Yeah. We’ll see. See you later.

Ashley: Okay, bye.

Announcer: Next week on the young and the restless…

Jill: Would you be willing to step away from jabot and come work with me at chancellor-winters?

Cole: I don’t believe that this was a con on claire’s part. She’s convinced we’re her parents.

Victoria: But, it’s just– it’s not possible though, is it?

Ashley: Hi.

Abby: Hi. Hello.

Ashley: Thank you so much for meeting me. Hi, how are you? Nice to see you.

Devon: Thank you for suggesting this.

Ashley: Sure, thank you.

Devon: Yeah.

Ashley: So, did you already order?

Abby: No, no, we were waiting for you actually. Here you go.

Ashley: Oh, okay. Thank you. Actually, I think coffee’s good for now. I’m just gonna wait to order until we can catch up. Do you realize that I never get a chance to do this? I never get the two of you all to myself, ever, so I want to hear everything. How’s it going? What’s new?

Abby: Uh, I’m sure you have more news than we do. Um, are you happy to be back home?

Ashley: Oh, yeah, I am. I am. It’s good to be home. It’s good to be back in the house. Craziest thing of all is that, um, diane and I are actually making peace. Yeah, I never thought I’d see it in my lifetime, honestly. It’s happening and of course, it’s nice to be back on good terms with my brother, right?

Abby: Yeah.

Ashley: So, that’s all good. So, how’s my grandson? What’s happening with dominic?

Abby: He’s great. Aunt traci took him to the park this morning.

Ashley: Oh, I’m jealous.

Abby: His favorite place.

Devon: And traci is definitely one of his favorite people.

Ashley: Well, he’s got good taste. She’s one of my favorite people too. And you know what? She’s great with kids. Have you noticed that? How they’re just kind of naturally attracted to her?

Devon: Oh, yeah. We see that with dominic every time. He lights up when he sees her.

Ashley: He is getting so big. Every time I see him, he’s an inch taller, isn’t he? He just grows so fast.

Abby: Mom?

Ashley: Yeah.

Abby: I’m sure you didn’t invite us to breakfast just to talk about dominic, so…

Ashley: Um, well, there might be another reason why I wanted to meet with you.

Devon: Oh, yeah? Believe that you really are hungry for some breakfast? Or maybe you’re feeling a little crowded in that abbott house and you wanted to get some air? Or, maybe you wanna get some information on tucker?

Jack: Well, I sure don’t like the sound of that. What are our options?

Kyle: I found the tie, mom. It was in the back of the closet.

Diane: Ah, that’s the one. It’s my favorite.

Kyle: No, I’ve got it. I’ve got it.

Diane: Oh, let me straighten your tie. It’s your first day at your new job.

Jack: Okay. Keep me updated. Thanks. Your mother and I couldn’t be any prouder–

Diane: Or happier.

Jack: Or happier that you’re starting your first day as the chief operations officer of jabot.

Kyle: Well, too bad you’re not biased about me. And how smart and wonderful and talented I am.

Diane: Well, you are all those things and more.

Kyle: Thanks, mom.

Jack: Unfortunately, your first day already has a bit of a hiccup in it.

Kyle: Oh, what’s that?

Jack: I just hung up with the building supervisor and there is an electrical issue on the top three floors.

Diane: Our offices?

Jack: Exactly. Which means…

Kyle: We’re working from home.

Diane: Oh, no, it’s your first day.

Kyle: Yeah. It’s a little weird, but let’s do it. And as jabot’s new chief operations officer, I know exactly what I have to do first.

Diane: What? Are you gonna rewire the building?

Kyle: No, no, I have enough sense to stay away from electricity. But I’m going to make sure the problem is fixed.

Jack: Excellent. But wherever we are, this is a very important day. It is the beginning of a very special part of your career. And your mother and I have the privilege of witnessing it all. My father, your grandfather, would be very proud of you.

Kyle: This wouldn’t have happened without you, dad. And mom’s overly enthusiastic encouragement. But, um, seriously though. The fact that you believe so much in me, it means the world. I know I haven’t been the easiest son, but I really appreciate everything you’ve done to make this happen.

Jack: I don’t have a doubt in the world that this is the right decision.

Kyle: Neither do I. I’m actually excited about it. And thank you, dad, for making this happen, and thank you for having so much faith in me. I promise not to let you down.

Tucker: Hey, billy.

Billy: Well, well, well. Look what the cat tried to keep out, but you snuck in anyway, huh?

Tucker: Slow day at the office?

Billy: No, not at all. It’s nice and early. I guess not having a real job, your body clock must be all out of whack.

Tucker: I have a real job. You just don’t know what it is. Or where I’ll turn up next.

Billy: I’m sure if I look under enough rocks, I’ll find you soon enough.

Tucker: I’m a little surprised at you, actually.

Billy: Is that right? Why?

Tucker: Oh, that you’ve managed to, you know, let your desire to crush me not get the better of you. Jack seems to think that, uh, you’re a champing at the bit to really drop the hammer on me. Release that damning information you and he have. You know, if you’re gonna threaten to release damaging information, eventually, you have to release the damaging information.

Billy: Actually, I’ve rethought my position. I– I– I like the idea of hanging the sword of damocles over your head. You know what else I like?

Tucker: Well, I can’t wait to hear.

Billy: The fact that that damning information that we’re holding on to seems to be working.

Tucker: That so?

Billy: Well, you haven’t made any moves against jabot or the family.

Tucker: Mm. Or maybe I already have. Maybe I’ve already succeeded in sabotaging things and you and jack and ashley just haven’t noticed yet. Hi. Ooh, those look great.

Billy: What’s the point of revenge if I don’t know if it happened or not? I don’t see it. If I don’t feel it, it’s not worth a damn thing without results.

Tucker: Well, there are many forms of revenge, billy. Some more insidious than others.

Billy: I don’t buy it. This is just another one of your defensive sleights of hand.

Tucker: Could be.

Billy: Yeah. I’ll give you this, tucker. You’re a smooth operator.

Tucker: Thank you. And, uh, just to keep you in the game as far as the sleight of hand thing, don’t give it a second thought. I’ve already lit the fuse.

Billy: I guess we’ll find out soon enough if you’re bluffing or if this is just another one of your unhinged plots.

Tucker: Well, it doesn’t matter, either way. You could still try to destroy my reputation by releasing that damaging information. But it might be too late.

Billy: Have a good day.

Tucker: Yeah, you too. I’ll see you.

Billy: See you later.

Ashley: Devon, tucker is your father, as you know, and, um, I– I do understand why you didn’t want to meet us at the club on thanksgiving for a drink. But I am concerned about your relationship with him. Do you communicate at all with him?

Devon: Yeah. Yeah, there’s been a lot of communication. And you don’t need to be concerned because I don’t want to have anything to do with him moving forward. Plus, I’ve been wanting him to be someone that he’s not for too long. And as I’m sure you’ve learned, he’s incapable of changing. So, it’s disappointing, but it’s necessary.

Ashley: I’m sorry. It must be difficult for you.

Devon: You know what? I think that if, uh, if I was the only one involved, I’d probably be dumb enough to keep trying with him. But we have a family and I just can’t risk him getting close to our son.

Abby: Wait, mom, after the way he treated you. You wanted to maintain a relationship with your family and keep your job and he just couldn’t handle it.

Ashley: I know, he exploded. I mean, maybe he’s remorseful. He said he was sorry, kind of.

Abby: Oh, my gosh. Please don’t tell me you’re falling for the “I’m sorry, I hurt you” act.

Devon: Yeah. I don’t think he’s capable of being truly sorry for anything.

Ashley: Well, yeah. He was a much different person, you know, when we were planning our life together. And I just– I thought that, uh– I thought that we were in love with each other. I guess I’d like to think that, um, some part of that was actually real.

Abby: Wait. Are you saying that you could forgive him for the things that he said and did to you?

Diane: Hm. You look handsome. Like a business executive is supposed to look.

Kyle: Mom, I’m not playing dress up. I am a business executive and I’m ready to dive into my first day at jabot. It’s time for me to stop pouting and put my oversized ego to the side and get to work.

Jack: I’m very proud of you, son. And if there’s anything good about today, it’s gonna be a very short commute.

Kyle: Well, I have a couple of things I need to take care of before I start the day. And there is a surprise in the works that I need to talk to mom about.

Jack: Oh, that sounds intriguing.

Diane: Um, are you going to ruin the surprise by telling him?

Kyle: Oh, not a chance. Nice try though, dad.

Jack: Listen, I have a meeting with billy at the coffeehouse. I will be right back.

Diane: Okay. See you. All right. Fill me in. And I mean everything. How is it going with tucker? Have you made any progress? Health insurance. It’s often hard to know which way to go. Kyle: As hard as it may be to believe, I think I finally have tucker in my pocket.

Diane: What do you mean?

Kyle: I told him I’ve been so remorseful and completely humble with the family and I accepted the coo job.

Diane: And how did he react? Kyle: Like a larg

Kyle: No, he hasn’t given me the slightest hint, but he will. I’m sure of it. He needs me.

Diane: Kyle, you need to be careful. I mean it. Don’t get overly confident with tucker. He is a snake and a dangerous one at that.

Kyle: Don’t worry, mom. Tucker thinks he’s working me. He has no clue that I am working him.

Abby: Just the best, right?

Devon: Mm-hmm.

Abby: I don’t know what we’d do without him. Thank you.

Ashley: Merci. I really want to talk this through with you, please.

Tucker: I prefer to drink. You can do whatever the hell you want.

Ashley: Okay. You said that I wasn’t the woman that you married, but I’m exactly who I’ve always been. And that’s a woman who’s deeply in love with you. I love you.

Tucker: Oh, yeah. Those are such kind words, ashley, and I’m gonna hold them near to my heart.

Ashley: Okay. I know that you’re angry.

Tucker: Is that what you think this is?

Ashley: Yes. When I told you that I was gonna, you know, I needed to stay at jabot, I know that was a shock to you, but it’s not an insult to you as a man. It’s– it’s– it’s not a betrayal of what we have. I’m wearing your wedding ring. We are here in paris on our honeymoon.

Tucker: Yeah. And you’re here fixating on your family. Your one true love.

Ashley: Oh, come on.

Tucker: That and the company daddy built. You know, you and jack and billy, you are all emotionally stunted human beings. It’s disgusting. You’re all obsessed with each other. I made my choice. I put you first, ashley. And this is our one chance. This is our only chance to be more than a team, more than partners. To be two halves of a whole. But you–

Ashley: Tucker. Tucker. Come on. Look at me, please. That’s really sweet, but it’s not realistic. We’ve always been really different people. I don’t want you to change who you are. Who you are is why I fell in love with you–

Tucker: Don’t you dare dare to lie to me!

Ashley: I can’t– I can’t talk to you when you’re like this.

Tucker: Good. Don’t talk to me, please.

Ashley: So, are you saying that– are you saying that–

Tucker: What?

Ashley: We don’t have– what we have isn’t meaningful?

Tucker: We don’t have anything. We have nothing, ashley. You made me beg you. You made me cut open a vein and bleed for you, beg you to trust me! To believe in us. I had to love you, so– no, I didn’t just have to love you, did I? I had to worship you because that’s the only way to get this ice queen to thaw. Total devotion. And you gave me nothing in return. Just a little, oh, here’s some affection, a little sliver of affection. Here’s a little consideration. And only once I’d proven my worth to you, well then…

Ashley: Okay. Okay. Sh. Please just calm down.

Tucker: You want me to calm down? Don’t you tell me to calm down because you destroyed me, ashley! Destroyed me. Every thought, every plan, every vision of the future. You! Only you, for years. But I never really had a chance, did I? Right? What a fool. What an idiot I am.

Ashley: Maybe we should talk about this to– tomorrow, okay? And if you– you can keep your temper in– in check.

Tucker: I’m not keeping anything with you. I’m not keeping anything in check with you. I don’t care anymore. I don’t care where you sleep. Uh, I don’t care what you do. I’m done. Goodbye, ashley. You go to hell!

Ashley: Okay.

[ Ashely sobbing ]

Abby: Mom? Mom, are you all right?

Ashley: Yeah. Yeah, I was just thinking.

Abby: Not about tucker, I hope.

> Ashley: No. I was thinking about the fight we had and how he blew up.

Abby: Which wasn’t your fault.

Ashley: Mm. Yeah. I… I– I– I played a part in what happened though.

Abby: You can’t say that.

Ashley: Well, I’m not saying that what tucker did was right. It– it was wrong. It was completely wrong, okay? But I just feel like I’m partially responsible in some way for what happened in paris.

Devon: I don’t know if I agree with that, ashley. I think tucker is a narcissist. He can’t take the blame for anything. It’s never his fault.

Ashley: Right. I know. Um, you know what happened is that, um, I pulled a, uh, a change of heart on him, devon. And it– I think I could have handled it better. It doesn’t mean that I’m defending what he did. It’s just that, you know, the whole thing could have been avoided.

Devon: Maybe. Maybe. But maybe your instincts kicked in and you sensed that something was off with the guy.

Ashley: Yeah, maybe. I have a lot of regret. I just– I mean, it– just because of how it ended so horribly.

Abby: Mom, you have to see tucker for who he really is. He is a rage-filled man who masqueraded as the love of your life.

Ashley: Yeah. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. You guys are so sweet. Thank you for being so concerned about me.

Devon: Of course.

Ashley: I know this has to be very hard for you.

Devon: Well, listen, I’ve defended tucker more times than I can count. So, it’s what it is for me. I just want you to know that you are the victim here and not tucker.

Abby: And you have to be done with him. You have to. Because I cannot go through this again.

Ashley: Okay. Okay, okay, okay, okay. I know. I just have to keep remembering that I’m not the only person that was affected by what happened in paris, right? A lot of people were. Like you.

Abby: Then, turn your back on him. Turn your back and walk away. Forget about this guy, forever.

Ashley: Thank you. You don’t have to worry about me, okay? My eyes are wide open when it comes to tucker mccall.

Abby: Good because it sounds like you’re giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Ashley: No, I’m not. Not at all. I mean, I can be forgiving but I’m not foolish, all right? And I mean, um, he’s just so arrogant, isn’t he? He always thinks he’s calling all the shots. I’ve– I’ve got his number though. Trust me.

Abby: Okay. And you’re not gonna be lured back into his orbit with his duplicitous charm?

Ashley: Abby, no, I’m not. No. Stop.

Abby: And the annulment?

Ashley: It’s moving forward. My biggest concern now is trying to figure out what he’s up to when it comes to jabot.

Devon: Well, it’s frustrating, isn’t it? I don’t know what he’s got going on or has planned for my company either.

Ashley: Well, what harm could he possibly do?

Billy: Thank you.

Ashley: Well, I just came from seeing tucker, so I thought maybe he reached out to you.

Jack: Actually, we were just talking about kyle.

Billy: Just to fill you in. Kyle has been trying to get jack to kick me to the curb so he could take over the co-ceo position. I confronted him about it and ultimately, he backed down.

Ashley: Well, that’s good, I guess.

Billy: His turnabout seemed a little, uh, you know, abrupt to me. I don’t think I told you this, jack, but I– I asked kyle if he would, you know, use audra to spy on tucker for us a while back.

Jack: You didn’t think it was important to tell me?

Billy: It was a spur of the moment and, uh, you know, kyle refused to use audra in order to spy on tucker for our benefit.

Ashley: Wow. Maybe he was being loyal to his girlfriend.

Billy: I don’t think kyle is really too concerned about us or the company. I think he’s watching out for himself.

Jack: Now, kyle, I know feels rejected and disrespected and wants to prove me wrong for not giving him what he wants.

Billy: I don’t know. Maybe there’s a connection here that we’re missing.

Ashley: What’s that?

Billy: Tucker is coming after jabot, which we all ultimately think he’s doing. He’s gonna need someone on the inside. Kyle is feeling boxed in, knowing that he’s not gonna get what he ultimately wants.

Jack: I don’t like where this is going.

Billy: No, neither do I. But I think tucker may have got his claws into kyle and turned your son against us.

Jack: Billy.

Billy: Hey.

Jack: Gee, nice talking to you.

Billy: Jack. I just had a very disturbing conversation with tucker.

Jack: Is there any other kind? Coffee, black, please?

Billy: He was wondering why we haven’t used the dirt we have on him to blow him out of the water.

Jack: Oh, good, he’s curious. That means we got under his skin. That can’t be all bad.

Billy: I told him that we were content in using the information to keep him guessing.

Jack: So, how did he react?

Billy: Ominously. I expected more bluster, more empty threats. Instead, he was– he was calm and measured.

Jack: What did he say?

Billy: He implied that he already set something in motion inside jabot that’s going to take us all down.

Diane: I am serious, kyle. Don’t get cocky about putting one over on tucker. He is shrewd. He could be setting you up as a test of some kind.

Kyle: I’m aware that’s a possibility, so I’m watching my back. But don’t worry, mom, I plan to be careful.

Diane: Well, please do so. Look, I’ve had a lot of experience dealing with tucker and maybe that could help me help you figure out a way to outmaneuver him.

Kyle: Mom. I’ve got this.

Diane: All right, just promise–

Kyle: No, I appreciate you and how much you care about my well-being, but I can handle things.

Diane: I– I know you can.

Kyle: So, how about you trust me? Luckily, I have audra as an ally.

Diane: Okay. I do trust you. But I am worried about the fact that you see audra as someone who can have your back?

Kyle: Okay. Mom, what’s going on? Are you having doubts about our plan? I know it’s intricate with a lot of moving parts, but I can handle it. I mean, are you worried that I can’t pull it off?

Summer: Pull off what?

Looking for a medicare plan?

Diane: Summer. Nice to see you. I– I– I didn’t realize, um, that you were here. Uh, how’s it going?

Summer: It’s good. Seems like I walked in on kind of a serious conversation. Sorry about that. Mrs. Martinez sent me in earlier. Hey, kyle.

Kyle: Hey, summer.

Summer: So, what is it that you’re trying to pull off?

Diane: Oh, oh. Today is kyle’s first day back at jabot as coo and we’re just really excited.

Kyle: And as usual, my mom is worried about me.

Summer: Wait. Why– why are you worried?

Kyle: She still thinks I’m eight years old.

Diane: Kyle.

Kyle: Well, I– I think her main concern is that I’m going to be disappointed when I return to work, not at the position I wanted, replacing billy as co-ceo.

Summer: Well, I think it’s really great that you’re back working with your family. Know how much it means to all of them.

Kyle: We abbotts are an all-for-one, one for all family.

[ Diane chuckling ]

Summer: And I know that it’s not my place to give my opinion on it.

Kyle: Well, that’s never stopped you before.

Summer: Right. And I agree with diane. I think that you should try to not let your pride get in the way of embracing this new position.

Kyle: Ladies, I promise you, I am up for whatever challenge lies ahead. So, summer, um, what brings you to the house so early?

Summer: I had a present for harrison that I wanted to leave on his bed. I was also hoping to catch jack. There’s this internal issue at marchetti that I wanted his advice on, so…

Diane: Oh, you just missed him.

Summer: Oh, okay. Well, I will catch him at the office then.

Kyle: Oh, yeah, about that. Um, the top three floors are dark. No electricity. So, gonna have to work remotely.

Summer: Oh, okay. And I guess top of my list is to file a complaint with the new chief operations officer.

Kyle: Yeah, I saw that coming.

[ Diane chuckling ]

Diane: Hey, why don’t you work here with us today? I’m sure harrison would love to see you when he gets home.

Summer: I do love seeing him right after school. He’s so energetic and chatty. I– I guess I could work from here. It would be really convenient.

Diane: And since you and kyle used to work together at marchetti, maybe you could, um, maybe you could run that problem by him and the two of you could figure it out together.

Jack: Tucker is bluffing. He cannot bring himself to admit we have beaten him.

Billy: I’m pretty good at reading a bluff, jack. He didn’t have any tells. He knows something that I don’T.

Jack: And that’s your read?

Billy: Yes, that is my read. He’s not bluffing. He’s got something planned for jabot. Some kind of attack. We need to figure out what it is and we need to stop it.

Jack: That is your opinion. Forgive me for being skeptical, but your reads of people in the past have led you into a lot of trouble.

Billy: Oh, is that right? Name one.

Jack: Billy.

Billy: This read is pristine, jack. I’m telling you.

Jack: You are a gambling addict. You have lost hundreds of thousands, if not more, at the poker table. Forgive me being skeptical of your pristine read.

Billy: That’s actually not true.

Jack: What part?

Billy: I mean, I’ve lost on the horses, sports, blackjack, and baccarat, but I’m a winning player at the poker table.

Jack: How do you figure?

Billy: Because poker is not gambling.

Jack: The hell it’s not.

Billy: Jack, all due respect, you don’t understand, okay? Those other forms of betting we’re talking about, you’re playing against a horse, you’re playing against a team. Playing against the dice or cards. With poker, you’re playing the person. You’re not reading the cards, you’re reading the person. You understand if they got a strong hand or a weak hand and you act accordingly. And I am telling you, tucker has a strong hand.

Jack: What is it that makes you think that?

Billy: Some players, they watch another player’s breath or they watch their eyes. If you’re looking at my chips, I assume you have a strong hand. You’re looking at your own, I assume you have a weak hand. Me, I watch the hands. Are you tapping on the table? Are you fidgeting? Are you playing with your chips? Fumbling about. Are you touching your mouth? Are you touching your face? Those are all signs of weakness? The hands don’t lie.

Jack: And what were tucker’s hands doing?

Billy: Nothing. They didn’t move. I’m not saying he’s got pocket aces or anything like that. Seems to me he’s holding a three and a five and he’s looking for a straight. It’s sneaky confident. Like he’s already got someone on the inside of jabot.

Jack: I– I don’t think so. Who would trust him, let alone collude with him?

Billy: Somebody pretty high up. Maybe somebody new. Maybe it’s someone who’s been around a long time or maybe it’s someone who’s both.

Jack: Oh, wait. You– you don’t still think that tucker has his claws into kyle?

Devon: You’re aware that tucker has an involvement in mamie’s investment in chancellor-winters?

Ashley: Yeah. Yeah. To what end?

Devon: Well, he claims that his only interest is shoring up the company for my benefit and for dominic’s future.

Abby: And devon thinks there’s more to it than that.

Devon: I’m certain there’s more to it, which is another reason why I cut him off.

Ashley: Wait a second. So– so possibly tucker’s interest in chancellor-winters, it’s his project, right? So maybe he’s telling the truth when he says that he has no interest in going after jabot?

Abby: I don’t believe it. I just don’t believe it. If it’s not one thing, it’s another with this guy. He is not going to be happy by burning down one company. He won’t be satisfied until he burns down the whole world. My mom’s alzheimer’s never changed how much we love her.

Kyle: As much as I would like to help with your problem at marchetti, I have a lot to do.

Summer: Yeah. Like getting the lights turned on at the office for starters, huh?

Kyle: Exactly. And I really need to run an errand before I dive into that, so I’m gonna step out for a moment.

Summer: Sure.

Kyle: I’ll see you both later.

Diane: Okay. Hm.

Summer: Well, I guess if– unless it’s to discuss harrison, kyle really doesn’t want to be in the same room as me.

Diane: Yeah, I kinda noticed that and I’m sorry. And I’m sorry if it upsets you.

Summer: Yeah. We are getting a divorce and yes, we have both moved on, but I don’t know, I just think it would be nice if we could at least be friendly with each other.

Diane: Well, I think it would be nice if you could find your way back to one another. If so, do you think that you would give the marriage another try?

Summer: Diane, I really don’t think that there’s any point in hypothesizing about that. I mean, kyle made his choice. I just don’t want there to be animosity between us.

Diane: Well, I don’t think that kyle feels animosity. I think he– he finds it awkward. And probably more so when I’m meddling. Trust me, he’s as sad about the situation as you are.

Billy: I would love to give kyle the benefit of the doubt.

Jack: And why is it again you can’t do that?

Billy: Because I’m having a really hard time trusting his sudden turnaround from anger to contrition, okay? I know he’s your son and you love him and it’s hard to believe that he would be involved in something this shady, especially with tucker.

Jack: That’s right. I don’t want to believe that. In fact, I don’t want to have this conversation.

Billy: I saw something in his eyes this morning. He’s not bluffing. He’s up to something, okay? And kyle’s sudden flip to team player, it’s a little too coincidental if you ask me.

Jack: Look, I know you think you can read people. You’re the consummate poker player. And maybe you’re right, maybe tucker already has a plan in motion, but that does not mean kyle is involved. I refuse to believe that.

Billy: I don’t want to believe it either. He’s your son. He’s my nephew. I love the kid and I fully understand what kind of train wreck this is gonna set off for all of us if I’m right.

Jack: And kyle knows how devastating this kind of betrayal will be. That’s why he would never be involved in this.

Billy: Okay. Okay. I’ll drop it, for now. But I’m gonna keep digging and I’m gonna stay on guard, jack. And I promise you if I am right, I won’t say I told you so. Where are you going?

Jack: Anywhere but here.

Billy: Jack, wait.

[ Knock on door ]

Tucker: Hey. How’s your first day on the job?

Kyle: Uh, I haven’t really started yet. There’s an electrical problem at the building. Hey, you’re not behind that, are you? As a way to disrupt things?

Tucker: By shutting off the lights? Do I look like an amateur to you?

Kyle: I just wanna make sure you’re not messing with me on my first day.

Tucker: I know. As much as I enjoy the idea of billy and the rest of them working in the dark, no, it wasn’t me.

Kyle: Okay. So, um, I want to meet face to face. No text. No emails.

Tucker: Okay, good.

Kyle: So, now that I’m coo, how exactly do you plan to take advantage of my new inside position?

Tucker: I thought you’d never ask.

Rsv is out there.

Summer: Look, I know that it was more my fault than his. I’m the one that started things moving towards what eventually became the divorce.

Diane: Yeah. And kyle sealed the deal.

Summer: True. Maybe he did it because he was hurt. Maybe he slept with audra because he wanted to hide from his feelings. I don’t know, but he was definitely doing it to make a statement that he was moving on.

Diane: Well, it was the wrong statement to make. Kyle is smarter than that.

Summer: Look, diane, I know that this is hard for you to witness your son going through all of this. It’s hard on a lot of people.

Diane: No, it’s– it’s more than that. To be honest, I don’t like audra. I don’t trust her. I don’t want her in our lives.

Summer: Forget about audra. Kyle is, in time. I think right now, he’s just going through one of his phases where he’s flexing his muscles trying to prove to everybody that he’s the big man on campus.

Diane: You’re probably right. I’m just– just worried that he’s gotten himself into something that he can’t get himself out of.

Billy: Hold on. Hold on a second, okay? You can’t just walk away. This is too important. We gotta figure this out.

Jack: So, what if we let this play out? And when it does, it’s too late for us to fix it?

Billy: Jack, I get it, okay? I understand. He’s your son and it’s got to feel awful even entertaining the thought that he would be involved in something this nefarious–

Jack: We don’t know that kyle has done anything and you don’t know how I feel, believe me. I don’t know how I feel! And let me finish this, whatever concerns we have will be on tucker. And if he has kyle… if tucker mccall has my son in his clutches, he will find himself in a world of pain and he will not see me coming.

Billy: Look, the more I think about this, the more I’m convinced that ashley is the one person that can stop tucker in his tracks.

Ashley: I don’t think that tucker wants to burn down the entire world. I think he wants to own it.

Abby: Mom, I’m sorry, but I just don’t see how someone as beautiful and smart as you could be fooled by someone as deranged as tucker. Why are you still talking to this man?

Ashley: Okay, abby. I’m sorry. Maybe it was misguided. I thought that I could reach out, reconnect with him and maybe manipulate him and find out what he’s up to. But I realize the only person that has any influence over him is you, devon. You are his– you are his achilles heel.

Devon: Yeah. I don’t think that me or you could manipulate that guy.

Ashley: No, you don’t have to manipulate him. He is so desperate for your love and for your approval and he just craves to have your forgiveness.

Devon: Well, what are you getting at? Do you think that if he gets it and he thinks that I forgive him, that he’ll what? Open up and tell us what his plans are?

Ashley: Well, no. You won’t be able to fake it because he’d see right through that. It would have to be sincere.

Devon: Right.

Ashley: I guess what I’m trying to say is that if there’s any real emotion left inside of tucker mccall, you’re gonna be the only person that can bring it out.

Tucker: There are actually many ways we can take advantage of your position. Uh, just this morning, I set the wheels in motion with billy. Muffin stump?

Kyle: No, I’m okay. How did you do that?

Tucker: I let him believe that there’s a metaphorical bomb taking away at jabot. And if he took the bait and it seemed like he did, he and jack will certainly go sniffing around for said bomb, so I need you to find out what they suspect is about to happen so I can anticipate.

Kyle: Mm-hmm. And I assume I am the bomb.

Tucker: Very good. You’re a lot smarter than you look, kyle. No offense.

Kyle: Oh, I’m sure. And I would be right under their noses supposedly helping them dig. So, how do you intend to use me, specifically?

Tucker: What do you mean?

Kyle: Since I’m your inside man, I’d like to at least know some of the details of your game plan.

Tucker: You’ll know what you need to know when you need to know it, okay? Right now, you just keep playing spy and you let me know what you find out.

Audra: Oh, my god.

[ Audra sighing ]

Audra: She’s still gone. Hey, uh, nikki. Uh, it’s audra, again. You know, I– I’m sorry to keep calling you like this, but I– I just came from a meeting with the r&d team and they need clarification on the live stream issue. Uh, we– we need to talk before I make any decisions. You know, I– I know you were looking forward to your trip to oregon with claire and then visiting your sister in napa, and I really do hate to bother you with business like this, but I need your help. Yeah. And I– you know, we’re at a standstill here and I– I don’t know when you’re coming home. Um, you know, it’s really unlike you to go off the grid like this. I– I hope everything’s okay. Call me back as soon as you get this.

Billy: Hey, vic, it’s me. Look, I know you got a lot going on with your mom, but your message has got me a little bit worried, so can you give me a callback and let me know that everything’s okay, please? I would really appreciate that. Okay. Hopefully, I’ll talk to you soon. Thanks.

Nate: Black coffee.

Billy: Nate. Hey, I’m actually glad I ran into you.

Nate: Uh, billy. Yeah. What’s up?

Billy: Have you heard from, uh, from victoria?

Nate: No, I certainly haven’T. Why?

Billy: She left me a message saying that nikki had a seizure and that she was jumping on a flight to oregon to be with her and I haven’t heard from her since.

Nate: What? Nikki had a seizure? Is she all right?

Billy: I don’t know.

Nate: Did she tell you what type of seizure? Nikki’s ms can put her in a vulnerable position.

Billy: No, no. I don’t know anything more than what I just told you, but she sounded frantic on the phone. And, uh, we were supposed to spend the weekend together going to see the kids at boarding school. So, I’m just trying to figure out what’s going on.

Nate: Yeah. And I’d like to know more about nikki’s condition.

Billy: So, you don’t know anything about this? That’s surprising to me. I thought you would have been victoria’s first call.

[ Nick grunting ]

[ Nick panting ]

Victoria: Nick!

Nick: Uh, vic.

Victoria: Nick!

Jordan: Something wrong, victor? Feeling a little piqued? Poison getting to you?

Victor: Who’s– who’s– who’s blood is that?

Jordan: Not yours. Yet.

Victor: Put that down.

[ Jordan laughing ] Put it down. You’re gonna have to use it and you better use it all the way ’cause I’m gonna come after you.

Nate: I’m not sure it would do any good, but let me see if i can find out what’s going on. Well, I’m not sure if she’ll respond, but I’ll let you know if I hear from her.

Billy: Am I missing something here? You two not together anymore?

Nate: I don’t think we need to get into that, billy.

Billy: I disagree. I feel like I have a right to know.

Nate: Because?

Billy: Because we have two kids together, nate. And I don’t know if you’re gonna be in their lives or not and they’ve been through a lot, so I don’t want to add to the confusion.

Nate: I promise you, billy, our situation won’t affect your kids at all.

Billy: Look, nate, I hear you’re leaving newman. Does that have anything to do with this?

Nate: I still don’t think it’s any of your business, billy. But, if you must know, victoria and I hit a rough patch.

Billy: Mm. I’ve been there. It’s not fun.

Nate: Yeah, we had a little falling out. Let’s just leave it at that.

Billy: We could do that, but let’s not. What’d you do, nate?

Jordan: Put the knife down? You’re giving me orders, victor newman. After what you did to my sister, to my family?

Victor: After what we did to your sister? Have you forgotten that your sister tried to kill my wife?

Jordan: Oh. But look at the two of you, living happily ever after. At the expense of my sister’s sanity. You destroyed her and then you allowed your daughter, victoria, and eve’s son, cole, to abandon their baby.

Victor: They did no such thing.

Jordan: Oh, but you know, maybe claire was better off because you newmans never would have loved her. Because she was cole’s daughter. She was eve’s granddaughter, but I loved her. I loved her. I gave her guidance. I gave her a purpose. And without me, she would’ve become nothing but a broken young woman.

Victor: You turned that girl into a monster.

Jordan: Oh, you know, I really did hate bringing cole into it, but it was for the greater purpose and maybe someday, he’ll forgive me.

Nikki: What is she talking about? I don’t understand any of this.

Victor: She’s talking nonsense. She’s a mad woman.

Nikki: But it’s all gibberish. I mean, cole and baby eve. What– what– what does she want?

Victor: Sweetheart, sweetheart. She’s trying to kill us.

[ Jordan chuckling ]

Jordan: Don’t you see?

Victor: Aren’t you?

Jordan: It’s over. I’ve already killed you. Can’t you feel the poison streaming through your body? Are you slurring your words like your drunk wife? But don’t worry, it won’t be much longer.

Victoria: Oh, no.

[ Cole grunting ]

Cole: Nick. Nick. Nick, oh. Oh, that’s it. I got it.

Victoria: Help him!

Cole: We’ve gotta keep pressure on this wound. Come on, nick. Come on, nick. Don’t give up. You got this. Stay with us, nick. Stay with us.

Victoria: Claire, you have to call an ambulance. Please. Please.

Claire: It wasn’t supposed to be like this. You were supposed to be hurt emotionally. You were were supposed to be destroyed. I’ve waited 20 years for this. To hear you tell me how– how horrible you felt for leaving me. How much it’s haunted you from the day that it happened. I want to hear you tell me that you’re sorry.

Victoria: I am sorry. I’m sorry, claire. I’m sorry, okay? I’m sorry for the lies that your aunt told you to make you believe all of these terrible things. I’m sorry. I’m sorry for the way that you were raised that made you be filled with so much hate.

Claire: But aunt jordan wouldn’t lie to me.

Victoria: We loved our baby. We loved her. We were destroyed when eve died.

Claire: But I’m baby eve.

Cole: Claire, you’ve been lied to your entire life. You’ve been living with this misguided anger for too long. It can all end right here.

Victoria: Please.

Cole: You– you don’t wanna kill the ones that didn’t do anything wrong. You’re better than that, claire.

Victoria: Listen to him. Please listen to him. Please. Please. You know deep down that this is wrong. We’re dying. You know it. Please just call an ambulance, please. If you do, I– I promise I’ll help you. We’ll help you. Please just help us, claire.

[ Victoria panting ] Cleanse and exfoliate in one step

Victor: So, you say the poison is about to kill me? Well, then, you know, I may as well take you down with me.

[ Jordan grunting ] Come on.

[ Jordan panting ]

Nate: I love that you assume it was me who did something wrong.

Billy: No, it doesn’t matter if it was your fault or not, they’re gonna make it look like it was, okay? That’s the newman playbook and they’ve been playing that way for decades.

Nate: Fair enough.

Billy: So what happened?

Nate: I just got caught in the middle. I fell into one of victor newman’s infamous traps.

Billy: Yeah. Well, take it from an ex-son-in-law, he prides himself on those traps. You know that he had his daughter arrested on our wedding day just to try and stop her from marrying me?

Nate: Wow, that’s subtle.

Billy: Yeah. I’ve learned over the years that there’s only two ways that you can handle this. First, you can gnaw your leg off in order to free yourself from the trap to then fight or you can cut your losses and calmly show yourself the door.

Nate: I clearly chose the latter.

Billy: And I have the scars to show that you’re a smarter man than I am. Look, I know that victor is back in the ceo position at newman and that victoria got demoted, which I know would be very upsetting to her. Is that how all of this began?

Nate: It began and ended there. Look, billy, I’m not about to get into the details with you. For the record, I feel I did everything right. Medically, professionally, ethically. But victor misinterpreted my advice and therefore, so did nick and victoria. Apparently, I don’t need to tell you how impenetrable that newman wall can be.

Billy: Yeah. Victoria’s a strong, independent woman. She’s gotten a lot better at standing up to her father and not automatically falling in line with whatever he thinks and says, so that makes me believe that uh, she had a reason to turn against you and it wasn’t just because her father did. Have you entertained that thought yet?

Nate: Look, no offense, billy, but I don’t have the patience or energy to explain myself to someone whose opinion doesn’t matter much to me.

Billy: I don’t know how to not be offended by that.

Nate: What I mean is I’ve learned over the past several months that you can’t be objective when it comes to my relationship with victoria. Your opinion is going to be skewed one way or the other, so I can’t put much weight on it.

Billy: Well, nate, I think that’s fair. But for what it’s worth, as someone who has been in many, many of those traps, I sympathize with you for being the latest victor newman casualty.

Victoria: Mom! Oh, mom, thank god, you’re okay.

Nikki: Hi, honey. Well, I can’t say that I’m okay, but I– I– I will be.

Claire: Where’s my aunt jordan? Did you hurt her?

Nikki: Claire. Oh, my god, nicholas. Baby.

Nick: Mom. Mom.

Victor: How bad is it?

Cole: Well, we– we’ve got pressure on the wound, but he’s lost some blood.

Nikki: Help is on the way. Help is on the way.

Victor: You call an ambulance right now and give us the damn antidote.

Claire: But my aunt jordan.

Victor: Who gives a damn about that bitch? She’s upstairs. And she’ll spend the rest of her life in prison, I promise you. And if any of us here die because of your inaction, you’re gonna– you’re gonna meet a fate worse than this.

Nikki: How could you do this? I cared about you. I trusted you. What kind of a monster are you?

Victoria: Claire, I’m begging you, please. You can turn this around. Turn it around for you, for us, for all of us. It’s not too late, please. Please.

Cole: We can help you. We will help you, but we can’t do that unless you help us.

Nikki: The rest of your life will depend on what you do next. Marshalls buyers travel far and wide

Victoria: I don’t know what to say, but I’m sorry.

Nate: Because I got fired?

Victoria: No, for all of it.

Nate: Oh, including the part where you ignored the only doctor in the room? Hm? Given what we were dealing with, what we both thought we were dealing with, I offered victor the best course of action and you didn’t have my back. I thought we were a team.

Victoria: We are, we still are.

Nate: Oh, it certainly didn’t feel that way in there.

Victoria: Look, I’m as angry about all of that as you are.

Nate: No. Not even close.

Victoria: Oh, god. After everything that I have done to try to prove my worth and my loyalty to my father that–

Nate: I am sure. I am sure you will get over it. You will be fine.

Victoria: Look, I– I– I hate that things turned out this way.

Nate: Is that supposed to make me feel better? Because it doesn’T. You basically threw me to the wolves.

Victoria: There is a way to fix this.

Nate: It would mean taking a stand you don’t want to take. Victoria, all I wanted to do was protect your father and give you back what you deserve while he healed. Those details he’s so indignant about were entirely reasonable. Not some proof of a coup! But that doesn’t seem to matter. To any of you. You know, my mistake was thinking you’d have my back instead of showing blind obedience. I won’t make it again. Thank you. I appreciate your sympathy, billy. I do. But I’ll land on my feet. I always do.

Billy: Yeah. But are you gonna land on your feet with or without victoria?

Nate: I told you already–

Billy: I get it. Yeah. None of my business. Can you at least just tell me if you got a response from the text?

Nate: Um, nothing, which isn’t a huge surprise, I guess. You know, she might not want to open a text from me after everything that went down. Have you heard from her?

Billy: No, nothing. And usually, she’s really good about keeping me updated. Sometimes too good, which is exactly what worries me. Something serious must have happened with nikki in order for victoria to drop everything and get on a flight to be with her. You know, I’m assuming that she’s taking care of her mother right now, but you know what? I’m gonna try again. Excuse me.

Audra: Hey. I did not expect to see the two of you hanging out.

Nate: Hey, I’m glad you’re here. Um, we’ve been trying to get in touch with victoria but having no luck. Have you…

Audra: Well, I know the feeling. I’ve left about a dozen messages for nikki and she’s– she’s not responding either.

Nate: Well, you may not hear from nikki for a while, depending on the severity of her seizure.

Audra: Wait, what? Nikki’s had a seizure?

Billy: Yes. Today.

Audra: Nobody told me.

Billy: We don’t know much. Victoria left me a message saying that her mom had a seizure and that she was getting on a plane to oregon to be with her.

Audra: But neither of you has heard from her?

Billy: Nothing. And her message was frantic.

Audra: You know, this doesn’t make any sense. You know, they usually respond so quickly and if i can’t get a hold of nikki, claire usually fills me in, but she’s not responding either.

Billy: What the hell is going on here?

Claire: You’ll help me? You promise?

Victoria: I’ll do whatever I can, claire. Please. Please, you have to help us. Please.

Claire: Here. There are two, only for two people. Drink the antidote, victoria. It’ll– it’ll counteract the poison. Please, there’s not much time before it’s too late.

Victoria: I’m gonna give them to my parents.

Claire: No, nikki doesn’t need it. Nikki doesn’t need it. She wasn’t poisoned. She was only given an iv of alcohol

Victoria: Alcohol?

Claire: Victoria, please. Just drink– drink the antidote. I’ll go– I’ll go find the others. I’m pretty sure I know where aunt jordan hid them.

Victoria: Daddy. Dad, here’s the antidote.

Victor: No, sweetheart, you–

Victoria: No, no, don’t argue.

Victor: You drink it first.

Victoria: No, no, no, no, just drink it. Drink it. Good. Okay. Oh, god. Cole, here take it. Take it. Nick!

Nikki: Nicholas, what are you doing? What are you doing? Honey.

[ Nick panting ] This isn’t charmin!

Announcer: The young and the restless will continue. The holidays are at the home depot

Nick: 213 east shaw. We have four victims. Stabbed, poisoned. We need an ambulance.

Claire: Here. Take this. Here.

Victoria: Give it to me.

Cole: Is nick gonna make it?

Victoria: Yeah. He’s fine. You’re fine. We’re fine. We’re all fine. Help is on the way.

Cole: I’m so sorry.

Victoria: No. No, no. You don’t have to be sorry. It’s okay.

Cole: No, my aunt. I didn’t know.

Victoria: No, no. No. No, of course, you didn’t know. Yeah.

Cole: Our baby… she’s dead, right?

Victoria: Yeah. Yeah, she’s dead. I know it’s just– it’s a little confusing right now, probably because of everything that’s happened, but what claire said is not true. Our baby eve is– she’s dead. I’m sorry. You okay?

Nikki: Please let the ambulance come in time. Please.

Nate: Okay, got it.

Audra: Yeah, I– I understand. Yeah.

Billy: Tell me you heard something.

Nate: I just talked to the transportation coordinator at newman.

Billy: Okay. And?

Nate: And she said it wasn’t just victoria who flew out to be with nikki. It was victoria, victor and nick.

Billy: That checks out. I talked to abby. She said that she talked to victor before he got on the flight. So, that means they’re all together and nobody’s got back to us yet? Nobody’s reached out to us?

Audra: I– I managed to get a hold of nikki’s sister, casey, but she hasn’t seen or heard from her. But then again, she wasn’t expecting to since nikki was gonna surprise her.

Billy: Did you mention anything about nikki’s seizure?

Audra: How could I alarm her like that with no more information than what we got? You know, it’s a family matter, so I’ll have someone from the family contact her if we ever hear from any of them.

Nate: Okay. Okay. So, they’re all still in oregon with claire and her aunt.

Billy: And no word from claire yet?

Audra: Straight to voicemail. Like I said, this is so unusual for her. She’s usually quite prompt.

Billy: Okay. Well, it’s– it’s time that we call the authorities.

Audra: Look, I’m sure we’ll hear from someone soon.

Billy: Yeah. Well, I disagree. I think we call the oregon police station and make sure that they make a little visit to claire’s aunt’s spot.

Nate: Okay. Uh, but I don’t have an address. Do you, billy? Besides, I don’t think we need to get the police involved. So, they’ve been out of touch for half a day.

Billy: Out of touch for half a day, nate? It’s a billionaire ceo of newman enterprises and the co-ceo and the head of newman media and they’re all unreachable, okay? I would say that’s pretty suspicious.

Audra: You know, and if nikki suffered a seizure, why would victor, victoria, and nick all fly out to oregon to be with her without at least reaching out to one of us to let us know what’s going on?

Billy: Good point. Let’s start calling the hospitals in oregon.

Nate: Okay. You want to call all of them?

Billy: No, we find out where the jet landed. We use that as the epicenter and we go from there.

Audra: Look, I think that we should keep trying them all, including claire, before we resort to making random calls to hospitals in the pacific northwest, okay? If this is a private family issue, I don’t want to draw any kind of unwanted attention to it.

Billy: And if they’re in real trouble, we are losing valuable time.

Nate: Listen, listen. Nikki had a medical emergency, the close-knit family all flew out there to be with her. They’re preoccupied with her health, so they don’t have time to respond to us. That is the most likely possibility. And– and what kind of real trouble do you think they’re in, billy? Hi, my name is damion clark. With scope squeez mouthwash concentrate,

Billy: If you could please just let me know that victoria is okay? And of course, nikki. I would really appreciate it, victor. Just call me back, okay? Thank you. Nothing. Which is the most suspicious aspect of all of this.

Nate: What? Victor not taking your call?

Billy: Exactly. Usually, he would jump at the opportunity to berate me one on one. Billy boy, you worthless degenerate. I would actually love to hear that right now.

Nate: Do you ever think that um, deep down he has great affection for you.

Billy: No. No, no, not at all.

Nate: Well, maybe not affection, but he likes you after all these years.

Billy: No. No, he hates me and that hate gets deeper every single year. Look, my mother is jill abbott, okay? She’s far more vicious than victor, but I know underneath all of that, there is love. Not with victor. Nope. I’ve never been enough for his daughter and he reminds me of that every chance he gets. I’m sure you get a little bit of that.

Nate: Just the opposite. He’s always treated me with respect, even admiration at times.

Billy: What the hell’s up with that?

Nate: Well, he did know me as a physician before I was with his daughter. Um, that carries a lot of weight with some people. I guess victor is one of those people.

Billy: So, you guys are like buddies? You like, sit on the couch and watch football?

Nate: No. I wouldn’t go that far. We’re friendly. You know, we all get along. Everything was going well, until it wasn’T. Hey, any luck reaching nick?

Audra: Voicemail.

Billy: So none of the newmans are answering their phones?

Nate: There could be a rational explanation.

Billy: Yeah. There could be, but I’ve known the newmans most of my life, okay? Irrational things happen to them all the time.

Nate: What are you talking about?

Billy: My point is, it’s time to worry. So, I’m gonna keep trying to get a hold of victoria or anyone else that has information. In the meantime, I have to go home, but I’m gonna stop by newman tower and see if anybody has information there.

Nate: I’m sure they’re all fine, but I’ll keep trying to reach victoria.

Billy: If anybody hears anything, please let me know.

Audra: Yeah, count on it.

Nate: And you do the same.

Audra: You know, you are acting like this was no big deal, like everyone was fine. But you’re really worried about victoria, aren’t you?

Nate: Of course I am. But her ex-husband, billy doesn’t need to know that.

Audra: I’m surprised.

Nate: Why?

Audra: Well, after you know what you told me about what happened at newman, I got the impression that things weren’t good between the two of you.

Nate: Her choices hurt me, but that doesn’t mean I stopped caring about her.

Audra: Will you just be careful, please?

Nate: Careful of what?

Audra: Of getting sucked back into the newman vortex. You know, I think you’re much better off being free of all of that.

Nate: Oh, I agree. I am much better off out of newman and away from victor. As for victoria, I have no idea if, um, there’s still a future for us.

Audra: Well, I guess that’s up to you, isn’t it?

Nate: How do you figure?

Audra: Well nate, you were the one who got blindsided here. You know, why set yourself up for that to happen again? You know, she’ll always choose newman over you, or anyone else, or the rest of the world, and I think you deserve a whole lot better.

Nate: Mm. Thank you for that, audra.

Audra: You’re welcome. And you do know that my offer to come work with me is still open, right?

Nate: You do know that you haven’t told me what it is, right? Why would I accept an offer for a job I know next to nothing about?

Audra: Well, you know the most important part.

Nate: Which is?

Audra: You’ll be working with me.

Cole: They’re gonna transport all of us to the hospital.

Victor: Okay.

Cole: They’ll stitch up nick. And they’re going to test the rest of us to make sure that our bodies have successfully been detoxified.

Victor: Okay. Good.

Nikki: I didn’t ingest any of the poison.

Victor: Sweetheart, you’ve been through a lot of trauma. You need to be examined as well.

Cole: I think that would be wise.

Nikki: I’m just glad it’s over.

Victor: Officer, did you arrest the woman that was locked in the bedroom?

Officer: We conducted a thorough search. There’s nobody in that room or any other room upstairs.

Victor: How’s that possible? There’s only one exit out of this house. She didn’t come through here.

Nikki: I know there’s a window in that bedroom.

Officer: It was open, but it’s too high to jump.

Victor: You know, there was no way she could have escaped without injuring herself, right?

Officer: That’s right, sir.

Nikki: Well, then she must be somewhere in this house. Claire, you would know. Where would your aunt hide?

Claire: I have no idea. Imagine if you could get ahead of your ibs-c

Nate: So, you want me to forget all of my other prospects and come work with you at this mysterious opportunity for no other reason than to work with you?

Audra: It sounds like such a simple, elegant plan when you say it.

Nate: I bet. Have I ever told you that one of the things I admire most about you is your self-confidence?

Audra: Hm. You have. But I love hearing it, so you can tell me again. I deserve it.

Nate: Where did that come from?

Audra: Hm. What do you mean?

Nate: You. Where did you come from? Where did you develop that skill, huh?

Audra: You want to know where I grew up? What my parents were like? How many boys I kissed?

Nate: Well, I didn’t ask all of that. I’m interested in how you became you.

Audra: Oh, nate. No. Come on. You don’t wanna hear that. It’s so mundane. Look, it doesn’t matter where I’m from. What matters is that I’m here in genoa city with you, doing what I do best.

Nate: And what would that be?

Audra: Hm. I facilitate, I negotiate, I cultivate, I disseminate. You know. I dominate. I do all of that and I look good doing it. That’s all you need to know.

Nate: You are definitely a one-of-a-kind piece of work. That is for sure.

Audra: Well, thank you for noticing,

Nate: But.

Audra: There’s a but after all of that?

Nate: Yes. Before I accept this job offer of your– so-called job offer of yours, I’m gonna need a little more to go on.

Audra: You’re no fun. All right. You know, I’ll tell you what. I’ll let you buy me dinner and I’ll give you what you want.

Nate: And that is?

Audra: A few hints about the job, of course.

Nate: All right. It’s a date.

Nick: Billy.

Billy: Nick. What the hell’s going on, man? I’ve tried to get a hold of everyone, including your father. I– I’m assuming you’re in oregon. Just tell me, is nikki okay? And is victoria with you?

Nick: Uh I– I can’t get into it right now. Just know that we’re all together and we’re all safe.

Billy: What– what– what do you mean everyone is safe? What’s going on?

Nick: We’re gonna be home soon. I’ll let vic fill you in when she can.

Billy: No, nick. Hold on. Level with me. Is everyone really all right?

Nick: I gotta go.

Victor: Officer, you better find that woman. She is criminally insane.

Officer: Yes, sir.

Claire: Victoria. I don’t know what to say. Um… I don’t know what to believe anymore. I don’t even know who I am. I’m so sorry everyone.

Victoria: How can someone so bright end up like that? She’s so confused.

Victor: Well, she’s just as bad as her aunt. She’s nuts.

Cole: Emt’s are ready to start taking us all to the hospital. We should go.

Victor: Come here, my sweetheart. Come here, my baby. Come here, my baby. Slowly. Thank you. You need to know it, okay? Right now, you just keep playing spy and you let me know what you find out.

Adam: Oh, hello, Nate.

Nate: Adam.

Adam: Hey, will you hang on a minute? Have you seen Victoria or victor here?

Nate: No.

Adam: Have you seen them anywhere? I mean, there’s nobody at the office.

Nate: I don’t know why you’d think I’d know anything about that.

Adam: Uh, it’s just a question.

Nate: If you recall, I no longer work at Newman Enterprises.

Adam: Right. And from that information, I should reasonably assume that you’re no longer involved with Victoria, either?

Nate: Whether I am or I’m not, that’s none of your damn business. Although, I do find it interesting that neither Victor or Victoria chose to fill you in on their activities. So, I’ll reasonably assume that you haven’t risen that far up in the ranks from when you were my assistant. They’re still keeping you in the dark. Not exactly exactly a sign of confidence.

Adam: Mm. And a good evening to you, sir.

*****************Sally: Yeah, but who you are now is still the man who admitted that he was willing to use his father’s illness to take him down.

Adam: But I didn’t go through with it.

Sally: You almost sound proud of that?

Adam: Yeah, I– I kind of am. You know, it showed some maturity, some restraint on my part.

Sally: And you know, you set the bar really low for yourself. It’s still a lie, Adam. You still played everyone, including me. I really, really want to be able to trust you, but I–

Adam: I know. It was a precarious situation. But I finally did tell you the whole truth, okay? The old me– the old me would have buried that. But I didn’T.

Sally: You just keep lowering the bar. Eventually, it’s just gonna be on the floor, just a wrinkle in the rug. Like, “hey, everybody, at least I didn’t lie to everyone today, so give me some credit. It’s the new me.”

Adam: That’s correct. That’s totally accurate. But I am sincerely sorry that I could not let you in on what I was up to. Okay? We used to be a team. Is that why you’re upset?

Sally: No. I will tell you why I’m upset.

Audra, Billy, and Nate begin to worry when they can’t reach Nikki, Nick, Victor, and Victoria.

Billy has a bad feeling that the Newmans are in trouble and wants to call the Oregon police. Audra and Nate persuade Billy to keep trying to reach everyone before they call the police.

Victoria and Cole continue to try and persuade Claire to give everyone the antidote to the poison. Victoria and Cole promise to help Claire because they understand that she was manipulated by Jordan.

Victor knocks the knife out of Jordan’s hand and pushes her out of the way and locks the bedroom door when he leaves the room to go downstairs with Nikki.

Claire finally decides to give everyone the antidote and Nick staggers to his phone to call the police. The police and ambulance arrive to help everyone. Claire is handcuffed and before she leaves she tells Victoria she believes that she doesn’t know her identity. The police tell Victor that Jordan isn’t anywhere upstairs, and when everyone leaves the house, the audience sees Jordan hiding in the air duct of the house.

Lauren: To you too. Well, you look about as stressed as I am. What’s going on?

Abby: Oh, you know, just the usual restful thanksgiving. Leaving here, Devon and I are having drinks with lily and Daniel and Nate and Mamie. Then, we were supposed to go to the Newman Ranch, but my dad called me and said they had to go out of town unexpectedly. Something to do with Nikki. I have no idea what. Which leaves us more time for more turkey with the Abbott family. And then, I am heading home and having dessert with just Devon and Dominic.

Lauren: Wow. It sounds like you need to rack up some frequent flyer miles just for that dinner. And thank goodness this only comes once a year, right?

Abby: Yes.

Lauren: It’ll take a weekend or two to recover and then we’ll be as good as new.

Abby: Please, god.

*************************

Tucker: Is this a ball or what? Huh?

Audra: Eh.

Tucker: I got one question about Thanksgiving for you.

Audra: Mm. What is it?

Tucker: Why Thursday? What’s the deal with that? They just– the pilgrims were just booked for the weekend, said, “you know what? Let’s just do it Thursday. Get it over with.

Audra: You know, I have no idea, but you bring up some valid points.

Tucker: And what’s with the hats? And the shoes with the big buckles on them?

Audra: You know, you said one question. You’ve asked about a dozen.

Tucker: I’m sorry, go ahead.

Audra: Kyle’s role in bringing down jabot from the inside. How do you see that playing out?

Tucker: No, no, no. I don’t want to talk business on thanksgiving. You can do better than that.

Audra: Okay. I’ll try. What do you have in mind?

Tucker: Kyle Abbott.

Audra: Excuse me? But didn’t I just?

Tucker: No, no, no. Not Kyle Abbott and jabot. Kyle Abbott and you.

Audra: Okay

Recap written by Eva

The entire episode takes place in Oregon at the house in Blue Lake.

Aunt Jordan tells everyone that they must sit and listen to her and Claire and if they listen maybe after they hear the story then they will have to persuade her and Claire to give them the antidote to the poison which will soon kill them. Claire tells Cole and Victoria that she is their daughter Eve which Victoria gave away because she didn’t want a baby to interfere with her life. Aunt Jordan tells Cole that she is his aunt and she wants to get revenge on Victor because she thinks Victor caused the death of his mother Eve. Cole isn’t sure if Jordan is his aunt because he only met his aunt. His mother and Aunt Jordan didn’t get along well. Cole and Victoria explain to Claire that baby Eve died because she was born prematurely and Cole was there when baby Eve took her last breath. Aunt Jordan claims she switched the babies the day Eve was born to make the Newmans pay for taking her sister away from her.

Nikki is upstairs hallucinating that Victor is telling her to fight to live and take the IV of Vodka out of her hand. Nikki manages to take the IV out of her hand and drops the IV pole. Victor and Nick hear the noise. Nikki also hallucinates Claire telling her she will never get out of that room. Everyone downstairs is getting weaker because of the poison. Claire is confused and hurt because her aunt lied to her. Jordan tells Claire not to believe Cole and Victoria because they will say anything to stay alive. Cole and Victoria tell Claire that if she gives them the antidote they will help her find out if she really is their daughter.

Nick grabs Jordan so Victor can go upstairs and look for Nikki. Victor finds Nikki and manages to open the door to the bedroom. Jordan heads upstairs with Nick right behind her. Nick grabs Jordan to keep her from stopping his dad from rescuing his mom. Jordan stabs Nick with a big knife and then goes upstairs to stop Victor and Nikki from leaving the bedroom. Victor and Nikki are about to leave the bedroom when Jordan arrives, points the knife at them, and says
“Where do you think you are going?”

Adam: Mm. And a good evening to you, sir.

Sally: You just make friends everywhere you go, don’t you?

Adam: See, that’s the thing. Nate, uh, likes to make a show that he hates me, but way down, deep inside? He really, really hates me. Especially after losing his job.

Sally: What was that, that he said about your family still shutting you out? I thought you were getting past that.

Adam: No, forget about it. He doesn’t know anything. My relationship with my father has never been closer.

Nikki: Oh, god. I gotta get out of here. Okay. Okay. Oh, god.

[ Nikki sobbing ] What? Eve?

Cole: Victoria. It’s me, cole. Listen, I’m at the house that nikki told me to go to, but she’s not here and obviously, neither are you. I’m all by myself, I think. You know, it’s a little weird ’cause I’m in somebody’s house and I have no idea whose it is. Anyway, just give me a call as soon as you get this.

[ Jordan grunting ]

[ Jordan chuckling ]

Nikki: Claire? No. Who– who are you?

Jordan: You can call me jordan, for now.

Nikki: Oh. Oh. What do you want with me?

Jordan: Sh, sh, sh, sh. You need to relax. You need to stay calm. Don’t push yourself. You know, you really shouldn’t have pulled that iv out. You need it. It’s important. You need to stay hydrated. Your family should be arriving soon.

Nikki: My– my family?

Jordan: Yes. Isn’t that wonderful? And pretty soon, you’re going to be joining them. But in the meantime, you need to rest and relax. Stay calm. You’re not a well woman.

Nikki: Oh, my god. No. No.

Jordan: No, what, nikki?

Nikki: You did this to me.

Jordan: No, nikki newman. You did this to yourself. Your whole family did this to you.

Claire: Aunt jordan, we’re here.

Victoria: I thought you said she’d be home? That’s what she told me. Well then, where is she?

Claire: Hello? Uh, maybe she went back to the hospital.

Nick: What hospital?

Claire: I don’t know. I’m sorry. Can I get you all something? Some water, something warm?

Nick: Sure, water. It’s fine. Thank you.

Claire: Your mother will be fine. Please don’t worry.

Victoria: Why are you saying it like that?

Jordan: Visitors. Hello.

Claire: This is my aunt jordan.

Jordan: I’m sorry. I– I didn’t hear you come in.

Victor: Excuse me, we are looking for my wife.

Jordan: Oh.

Victor: Nikki newman.

Jordan: She’s still at the hospital.

Victoria: But uh, you said that…

Jordan: Oh, please rest assured, she’s going to be fine. The doctors are just going to keep her overnight.

Victor: Well, if you just give us the name of the hospital, we’ll find it.

Jordan: Well, I’m afraid that visiting hours are– are over. They won’t let you in.

Victor: Trust me, they’ll let me in.

Sally: So, I’m supposed to believe that everything is fine between you and victor? That you guys have mended all the fences and everything else that needs mending?

Adam: Well, not everything, but we’re working on it.

Sally: Good. I’m glad.

Adam: Yeah. There’s actually been, uh, quite a lot that has happened since the last time that I saw you, but, uh, you seem to be avoiding me ever since we were together that night.

Sally: I’m not avoiding you, adam. I just needed some time to process everything. That’s all.

Adam: I understand.

Sally: Yeah, I’m just still conflicted about everything.

Adam: No, I get that. I do.

Sally: Do you?

Adam: Look, neither one of us were expecting for that to happen, but it did. You know, I’m not gonna pretend like I’m not happy that it did. Because it proved to me that what we have is still there.

Sally: I just don’t want to go backwards, adam.

Adam: I’m not asking you to. All I’m asking is for you to look at me as I am now.

Sally: Yeah, but who you are now is still the man who admitted that he was willing to use his father’s illness to take him down.

Adam: That’s correct. That’s totally accurate. But I am sincerely sorry that I could not let you in on what I was up to. Okay? We used to be a team. Is that why you’re upset?

Sally: No. I will tell you why I’m upset.

Adam: Okay. Okay, I get it. But look, I was a victim in this.

Sally: How?

[ Adam sighing ]

Adam: Victor was the one who told the biggest lie of all. He made this entire thing up, trying to trap one of us into betraying him. And of course, everybody suspected that it would be me. But surprise. It actually turned out to be nate.

Audra: Uh, so tell me, what’s going on? What’s the story with you and the newmans?

Nate: The story is, I’m not a part of that family, so they don’t need me.

Audra: Come on, that’s it?

Nate: In the end, it was. Victor pretended he was slipping. Forgetting things, people’s names, what year it was. You know, classic symptoms of early-stage dementia. He was pretty convincing.

Audra: Why would he do that?

Nate: Well, he thought his children were so angry that he had taken the reins at newman again, that one of them would betray him. Use his condition to oust him.

Audra: That’s seriously messed up.

Nate: You’ll get no argument from me there.

Audra: Hm. So, how did victor faking senility come back to bite you?

Nate: Well, I was the one who made the suggestion that we get him some help. Keep it quiet. Send him to a private sanitarium where he could be taken care of without any media scrutiny.

Audra: Except victor wasn’t really losing it and he thought you were making a play to take over.

Nate: Victoria would have taken over, but yes, that’s basically it.

Audra: Mm. You kind of walked right into that one, didn’t you?

Nate: Look, I understand how victor saw it from his perspective. Like I was making a move on his position, but I am a doctor. I was genuinely concerned about the man’s well-being. What? You don’t believe me?

Audra: No. I believe, um, that’s the story you tell yourself and anyone who asks, but I know you too well, nate. This wasn’t just a mission of mercy. You were making a play and victor shot you down. Yeah, yeah, yeah

real fruit…

and whole grains. Yeah, yeah, yeah

doing something

good for yourself

has never been this easy.

Just do what’s delicious.

Adam: He fooled us all.

Sally: And you’re okay with that?

Adam: With victor’s loyalty test? I mean, that’s what he does. I get it. He thought that his children had an agenda and I mean, he wasn’t wrong. Victoria wanted her old job back. Nick wanted to make sure that I wasn’t rewarded for anything. And you already know what my plan was.

Sally: That’s some family you got there.

Adam: Oh, yeah. We’re fun, aren’t we? And now after all this, he wants the three of us to come back together and work it out.

Sally: Mm. That’s clearly not possible.

Adam: No. Especially since nick and victoria go out of their way to avoid me. We can’t even be in the same room together. It’s kind of a theme for me lately. The people in my life, avoiding me.

Sally: I told you I needed some space.

Adam: I remember. But the truth is it was making me crazy. Not seeing you, talking to you. I would sit around and wonder where do we go from here? I mean, have you thought about that at all, sally? What happens now?

Victor: I would like to see my wife, nikki newman.

Jordan: Well, I can– I can order a car service for you. I would offer you my car, but I’ve been having some mechanical problems. A regulator, alternator, something like that.

Nick: A car service will be fine. Thank you.

Jordan: Oh, of course. Of course. Time is of the essence. Claire, would you mind?

Claire: Of course.

Victoria: You still haven’t told us what exactly happened to my mother?

Jordan: Oh, of course. Um, let me see what I can recall. Uh, we– we were having a lovely dinner and she was singing claire’s praises for everything that claire has done working with her and she was, uh, very effusive. Is that the right word? Um, and– and then at the end of the meal, uh, something changed and– and she just seemed off.

Victor: What do you mean by something seemed off?

Jordan: Well, she started rambling. And, um, just couldn’t seem to follow a conversation. Almost as if she’d been drinking.

Nick: My mother is a recovering alcoholic. She hasn’t had a drink in years.

Jordan: Oh, I see. I– I– I didn’t know that. That’s interesting.

Victoria: So, what happened? How did she end up in the hospital?

Jordan: Oh, well, um, after dinner, I suggested that she stay here. I didn’t think it was safe for her to be leaving to go to her sisters. I thought that if she spent the night, that maybe in the morning she’d feel better and could leave then. I mean, I know that I don’t like to travel when I’m not feeling well.

Victor: Now, tell me more about her seizure.

Jordan: Well, I’m getting to that.

Victor: No. I want to hear it now.

Jordan: Well, I offered to make up the guest room for her, but she was very insistent about leaving. And that’s when she started to have a seizure. She collapsed right there where you’re sitting, mr. Newman. So, I called 9-1-1. And thank god. They arrived within a few minutes.

Nick: Was she able to get treatment in time?

Jordan: Oh, yeah, she’s fine. They gave her a– a– an anti-seizure medication. Uh, uh, uh, phenytoin. And sure enough, she stabilized within 30 minutes.

Victor: I really appreciate you helping her.

Jordan: There’s no need for your appreciation, mr. Newman. I mean, you have a lovely wife. I felt like I knew her the minute I met her.

Claire: The car will be here in 15 minutes.

Jordan: Thank you, darling. So, can we fix you something to eat while you’re waiting?

Victor: No, thank you.

Nick: We’re fine. Thank you.

Victoria: No. None of us are hungry at all. We just– we want to see our mother.

Jordan: Well, I suggest that you have a seat and you all relax. A seat and you all relax. Because there isn’t going to be a car.

Victoria: Uh, claire just told us that there was a car.

Jordan: And there won’t be a hospital you’re going to either, I’m afraid.

Nick: What the hell is this? What are you talking about?

Jordan: What this is, young man, is that it’s time to start telling the truth. All of it.

Victor: What is this? Is this some kind of a sick story? Where’s my wife?

Jordan: All in due time.

Nick: I’m done waiting. Tell me where my mother is or I’m calling the police.

Jordan: Really? I wouldn’t do that if I were you.

Victoria: Are we supposed to be frightened of you or something?

Jordan: Well, that depends on what you’re frightened of. Now, if you want to see your mother again, you’ll shut up and listen to me.

Victoria: Ah, this is absurd.

Nick: Lady, I don’t know who you are or what you’re up to–

Victor: Sh, sh, sh, son, son. Let her speak. Go on.

Jordan: All right. But first, I have a question for you, mr. Newman. Do I look familiar to you? Maybe something in the eyes.

Victor: I’ve never seen you in my life.

Jordan: That is true. But you did know my sister, intimately. Eve howard.

Victor: Eve howard?

Jordan: Yeah. And she loved you and you betrayed her and you broke her heart. And you threw her out like she wasn’t even human. Because that’s who you are. That’s what you do, victor newman. And so I’m here because I’m waiting for all of you to make amends.

Audra: Do you wanna hear my theory?

Nate: Do I have a choice?

Audra: I imagine you thought the best way to protect victor was to clear a path so victoria and you could take over while he was in treatment.

Nate: Exactly. And it was a good plan. Victor needed help, or so we thought. Look, we had to keep it discreet so business partners wouldn’t get nervous. And somebody had to step in during all that to keep the company running. Now tell me, how was that betrayal?

Audra: It isn’t to me, okay? But victor saw your concern as a move against him and it’s his opinion that matters most.

Nate: I was just a scapegoat. If one of his kids had suggested what I did, he would have accepted it unconditionally. I was set up to fail right from the start.

Audra: And who was behind that?

Nate: Nikki, nick, adam. All of them.

Audra: You left someone out.

Nate: With victoria, it’s– it’s a little more complicated.

Audra: I’m sure.

Nate: And I do not want to talk about that.

Audra: Hm. You’re pretty angry, aren’t you?

Nate: Oh, I’m furious.

Audra: Furious enough to want to get back at them?

Sally: I have thought about that night.

Adam: Yeah. And have you come to any conclusions or are you still working it out?

Sally: I honestly don’t know how I feel about it.

Adam: Well, I guess as long as it’s not hatred or regret I can live with anything else.

Sally: There’s never been any hatred, adam. I’ve never stopped caring about you. Even in the moments when you were driving me crazy. And regret, that’s– that’s a different thing altogether.

Adam: Oh, I knew that was coming.

Sally: I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel something. But I don’t know, I also felt like I was betraying nick. Even though that doesn’t really make sense anymore. Or maybe I was just betraying myself for not having the strength to stop it.

Adam: Did you want to stop it?

Sally: No. And that’s what’s so confusing. Because I felt like I– I should have this massive regret. Like I was stepping back to a place where I just didn’t belong anymore.

Adam: With me.

Sally: Yeah. With you. But I didn’t feel that way at all. Look, I– I haven’t reached out to you because I knew that you’d be asking these questions. I– I wasn’t avoiding you. I just really don’t have the answers. You know, it’s– it’s it’s hard to explain. Obviously.

Adam: No, it is. But my feelings have been pretty clear. I can tell you exactly what I’ve been feeling since that night.

Sally: What’s that?

Adam: Longing for you. For us. And hoping that somehow, you feel the same way.

Sally: Oh, you’re not making this any easier.

Adam: I– I don’t mean to put you on the spot, but I would like to know. Do you believe there is any chance for the two of us, moving forward?

Sally: I have thought a lot about it. And I’ve put it out into the universe.

Adam: And?

Sally: So far, it has been unresponsive.

Adam: The universe is very busy. Or maybe it’s waiting for your heart to tell you what to do. To clear away some of that noise and doubt so you can listen to it a little more closely.

Sally: It sounds so simple.

Adam: Okay. It can be. Look, I understand why you are hesitant. I blew our first chance and possibly our second. I know I don’t have the best track record when it comes to maintaining relationships, but I want to fight for this one. Because I believe that night we were together meant something. To both of us.

Sally: Well, of course, it meant something. I think we’re just trying to figure out what it was. So, what do we do now?

Adam: You know what? I have a great idea.

Sally: Oh, god. I’m almost afraid to ask.

Adam: Let’s have dinner here tonight.

Sally: Like a date?

Adam: Like a proper date. No pressure, no expectations. And I promise we’re not going to talk about the future.

Sally: Or longing?

[ Adam chuckling ]

Adam: Right. No longing talk. It will just be the two of us, living in the moment.

[ Sally sighing ]

Sally: Okay.

Adam: Great.

Sally: Yeah. I mean, what could be the harm, right?

Victor: What kind of a scam is this? You want money? Eve howard was a deeply disturbed woman, you know. She made my life a living hell. But she never mentioned having a sister.

Jordan: Because we were estranged at the time. And then she died and we never had the opportunity to heal. If she hadn’t met you, if she hadn’t moved to genoa city, we would have had that chance.

Victor: It took you 40 years to come up with this cock and bull story?

[ Jordan laughing ]

Jordan: So, you don’t think that I’m eve howard’s sister?

Victor: I don’t give a damn who you are. We’re out of here. Let’s go.

Nick: Let’s go.

Victor: We’re gonna find this hospital on our own.

Jordan: Well, your wife is not at the hospital. And her so-called seizure was merely a ruse to get you all here. My mom’s alzheimer’s never changed how much we love her.

Nick: What do you mean my mom’s not at the hospital?

Victoria: What have you done to my mother?

Victor: Lady, we didn’t come here to play games, so you better tell me where my wife is. Or else.

Jordan: Or else what?

Victor: I promise you, you don’t want to find out. Especially not when it involves my family.

Jordan: Oh, your family. Do you mean like my sister? Did my sister, eve, cross you? Is that why you threw her out like trash, victor newman?

Victor: Where’s my wife?

Jordan: Oh, she’s safe, for now.

Victor: I’m through playing games with you.

Jordan: Oh, this is no game. This is as serious as a heart attack, which is what you will all be experiencing very soon thanks to the poison that you just drank in your water bottles. Digoxin. You don’t have long to live. And it’s going to be my utmost pleasure to stand here and watch you die.

Nikki: What have you done to him?

Eve: He died tonight. They took him away. At the end, he finally realized what it meant to be with each other. He was going to give me his name.

Nikki: You’re crazy.

Eve: Am I? Yes, I– I was going to marry victor. And we– we hurried because I knew he couldn’t last much longer, but it was too late.

Nikki: You talked victor into marrying you?

Eve: Oh, no, no. No, no. He asked me. He begged me to. He had to. I gave him a son. I gave him my life.

Nikki: No, no.

[ Nikki panting ]

[ Nikki sobbing ]

Adam: Well, the company seems to be taking off like a rocket.

Sally: I– I don’t know if I would go that far, but it has been encouraging. I’m building something and I love it.

Adam: Well, that’s great. What about nick?

Sally: What about him?

Adam: I mean, have things been tense? Have they been awkward at all?

Sally: Actually, it’s been the opposite. You know, there was a moment there where I considered that maybe he would pull the funding out of the business, but he’s followed through on everything he said he would and he kind of just lets me do whatever I want.

Adam: Well, nick is an honorable man.

Sally: Is that real or sarcastic?

Adam: Can it be both? Nick and I are just not destined to get along, but generally, I’ve known him to keep his word, so I’m glad he kept his promise to you.

Sally: Do you think that’ll ever change? You and nick?

Adam: That we’ll actually be friends? Uh, the odds are against us. Look, we’ve tried. There’s been times where I thought we were gonna have a breakthrough, but it’s just never lasted.

Sally: Well, never say never.

Adam: Well, I love the optimism.

Sally: So, what are you gonna do with connor this weekend?

Adam: Oh, he’s, uh, he’s got a basketball game on friday night. And then after that, we’re just gonna wing it. He made some new friends, which is great, so I don’t want to step on his plans.

Sally: Well, I’m sure he’ll make time for you.

Adam: I miss him. You know, he’s a great kid and after everything he has been through, he’s– he’s actually shockingly normal. You know, there was a while there that I was terrified he was gonna end up like… you know?

Sally: You?

Adam: Yeah. There was a time I thought he had the worst parts of me and that would make things difficult for him. I did not have an easy life.

Sally: But it’s getting better.

Adam: Oh, it’s much better. It’s in large part due to connor. It’s amazing how kids affect your life. It like, changes your perspective and things just become all about them. And it’S… I didn’t mean to.

Sally: No, it’s fine. Really, I’m not that– I’m not that fragile.

Adam: No, I know. Just, it was an insensitive comment. I know that you’re still mourning our daughter.

Sally: You know, I’m really not that hungry. And– and I really don’t want to eat this late.

Adam: Is it? Is it that late? I– I hadn’t noticed.

Sally: This has been lovely. But do you mind if we raincheck this dinner?

Adam: Of course. But you aren’t just blowing me off, are you?

Sally: No, we will get dinner. A proper date sometime soon. But tonight I– I just– I just really need to be alone and sort through some things.

Adam: Sure. I probably gave you a lot to think about.

Sally: You did and I’m glad you did. I just need to go through it on my own.

Adam: Yeah. No, I– I completely understand. Well, let’s get you up to your room.

Sally: Ah, just one more thing.

Adam: What’s that?

Sally: You can’t walk me to my door this time because we always get in trouble when you do that.

Adam: I mean, it’s a good kind of trouble, isn’t it?

Sally: Sometimes, it’s just trouble.

Adam: Can I at least walk you to the stairs? I mean, that’s not too dangerous, is it?

Sally: I think I can handle that.

Adam: Well, I guess this is as far as I go.

Sally: What a gentleman. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Adam: I’m so glad that I ran into you. Thanks for having drinks with me and very nearly having dinner. And I think we should have a– a real date soon. See where it takes us.

Sally: I would like that. I know you’re trying to be better. I can see it.

Adam: Thank you.

Sally: Well, good night.

Adam: Night. Well, I was not expecting that.

Sally: Neither was I.

Nate: I’m angry, but I’m not stupid enough to go after victor newman. That would be professional suicide.

Audra: What will you do?

Nate: Swallow my pride and move on to something else. Again.

Audra: I might be making a move too.

Nate: Really? I thought you were happy at newman media?

Audra: I have some potential opportunities I have to consider.

Nate: Okay. Where?

Audra: Well, I can’t say yet until the deal is finalized, but it’ll be a place where I have much more freedom than I do now. And you know, we could always use smart, strong people to come on board.

Nate: Are you making me an offer?

Audra: I could be, soon. You know, once everything is more concrete. That’s if you’re interested, of course.

Nate: I’ll listen.

Audra: You know, I like surrounding myself with colleagues who I can trust to get the job done, by whatever means.

Nate: Is that how you think of me? Um, I gotta tell you, I’m not as ruthless as you seem to think.

Audra: Mm. Keep telling yourself that.

Victor: You’re crazy. Let’s get out of here.

Nick: Let’s get out of here now. Let me try.

Jordan: You won’t get to the hospital. In fact, you won’t even get out of the house because all the windows and doors are triple-locked.

Nick: This isn’t moving. Maybe there’s another way out.

Victoria: Why are you doing this?

Jordan: Oh, I’ve already told you. So, claire and I can stand here and watch you die.

Victoria: Oh, my god. Cole?

Victor: Cole howard?

Victoria: What the hell?

Claire: Well, he had to be here for the family reunion. Didn’t he, mother?

Summer: Wow.

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Summer: Okay. What are we calling this style? Bachelor pad chic? I mean, I don’t see an air mattress or a foosball table, but I actually think that you have room for one over here.

Daniel: Don’t worry, foosball table’s coming. Beer pong table is gonna be over here along with the kegerator.

Summer: Very swanky. But I actually like that lamp. I mean, if it was in a different place, I would like it.

Daniel: Yeah, my designer has great taste.

Summer: Lily?

Daniel: No, I hired someone. Sally Spectra.

Summer: Nice.

Daniel: I know. Look, she just launched a new design firm. Lily suggested that I call her.

Summer: Yeah, because why would you want to consult with your sibling who’s in the design industry

***************************

Sharon: Okay, so tell me! What’s the latest? How is aria doing with her hearing aids?

Tessa: Sharon, you saw her yesterday.

Sharon: But she’s a baby. She’s going to make changes and progress on a daily basis and I want to hear all the details. So, how is she adapting to them?

Mariah: Uh, well, I– I can say the kid likes what she likes and she knows what she doesn’t like. We’ve used all of the tips that dr. George suggested.

Tessa: And aria is able to handle the hearing aids for about an hour, but after that, no way.

Mariah: No.

Sharon: Okay, but still, an hour, that’s amazing.

Mariah: Yeah. And to see her little face, her reactions. I mean, it’s obvious she can hear us, which is great.

Tessa: Oh, we read her a bedtime story last night. Mariah was doing all these different voices.

Mariah: And just smiling and giggling and laughing. I’m highly entertaining, clearly.

Sharon: And you didn’t video chat me? Okay. I see how it is.

Mariah: Well, uh, actually we’ll do that later because right now, you have a visitor.

Kyle: That I would throw my aunt under the bus to show whose side I’m on.

Audra: It was a dirty move. Sneaky, even. I’m impressed.

Tucker: I see. Dirty and sneaky Kyle Abbott.

[Chuckles, snorts] I didn’t think you had it in you.

*************************

Kyle: You want to weaken the company without destroying it beyond repair. That requires intel only someone from the inside can deliver. Timing is everything.

Audra: Hmm. He makes a good point.

Kyle: And I don’t trust you. Either of you. No offense.

Audra: None taken.

Kyle: Look, you’re hurt. Part of you wants to hurt back. You want to punish Ashley and all the people important to her. My family. I can see that.

Tucker: Cool. Did you get that from your freshman psychology class? I know more about you than you think, Kyle. I always will. Don’t forget that. So, just so we understand, you are joining us, yes?

Kyle: Well, I’m not gonna let you burn it down out of spite. But I want to run the company, and this is the only way that’s going to happen. So, yes, I am in.

Tucker: Very good. I’m glad you found some clarity.

Chance: Hey.

Jill: Oh. Oh… let me look at you. You are infuriating. Do you know that? You really are. Are you sure it’s okay?

Chance: Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine. I promise you, for the fifth time. I’m fine. I’m recovering but I’m being a textbook patient too. Don’t worry.

Jill: Do you know how irritating it is to come into town and find out that your grandson has been in the hospital?

Chance: Well, I took that bullet just to annoy you. You know that, right?

Jill: Hey, hey, hey, don’t joke about nearly dying.

Chance: Come on, I didn’t almost die.

Jill: Stop arguing.

Chance: Okay. All right. Sorry. I promise you, I thought being chief would get me out of the line of fire more often, but clearly, I was wrong.

Jill: Oh, I’m just so happy that your injury wasn’t worse and that that bastard’s been caught.

Chance: Well, justice will be served.

*********************

Tucker: I’m really not in the mood.

Ashley: Clearly. I can see that. What’s got Devon so upset?

Tucker: It’s a personal and private family matter. So it really has nothing to do with you.

Ashley: Unfortunately, whether or not we’re married, we share a grandson. Looks like you need somebody to talk to.

Tucker: Someone maybe, but not you.

[ Ashley sighs ]

Ashley: Can you afford to be so picky? Look at your life. I mean, it’s imploding. Our marriage is done. Your business is done. Looks like your relationship with your child is done. Well, it’s the truth and you do realize that whatever affects devon affects my daughter and our grandson. So, I mean… I’m willing to listen.

Tucker: Which accomplishes what, exactly?

Ashley: That’s a good question. Do you want to fix things? Because if you stop being such an ass, I might be willing to help.

Victoria: Why am I not surprised that you two are here? You’ve just come from being with dad. Am I right?

Adam: Yes, we have.

Victoria: And you want to try to convince me to stay on at Newman because now you are the good and faithful son all of a sudden. Even though everybody knows that’s a lie, except for dad, who’s desperate to believe it because otherwise, you’re just a reminder that not everything Victor Newman touches is golden.

Adam: Yeah. And you hate the fact that maybe I did the right thing, for the right reasons. Because then you would have to take me seriously and would consider that victor might actually trust me. And that terrifies you, doesn’t it?

Victoria: No. See what terrifies me actually is that you might blow up the family and the company. But on a personal level, not a chance.

Nick: Okay. Will you two just stop, okay? Things are actually blowing up around us and we need to figure out a way on how to fix it.

Adam: You’re right. I’m sorry, Victoria.

***************************

Nick: What our dad wants is for the three of us to work together, okay? Now, a day ago, you were terrified about losing dad, right? Well, it turns out dad is the same Victor Newman he always has been. He wants the three of us to work together at his company, and he is not wrong.

Victoria: You know, I just think that that’s kind of funny. Coming from the guy that left Newman.

Nick: Okay. That’s fair. I’ll admit it. I was wrong. My place is at Newman and it always has been. I’m back, Vic, 100%.

Victoria: Well, I guess two out of three isn’t bad. I hope you guys have a really wonderful time working together and I hope dad enjoys every minute of it.

Nick: Oh, come on. Are you really gonna do this to me?

Victoria: What, Nicholas? What is being done to you?

Nick: I am stuck in the middle between dad and Adam with no ally. Do you think that sounds appealing to me?

Victoria: Well, you’re the one that wants to stay on no matter what.

Nick: Look, we both know that eventually he’s gonna do something stupid and shoot himself in the foot. It is inevitable.

Adam: Okay. Not that I don’t treasure the kind words of encouragement, but need I remind you that I didn’t plan any of this. Now, Victor seems to have confidence in me, so why can’t the two of you?

Nick: If Adam implodes and no one is there to mitigate the fallout, he’s gonna drag dad and the company down with him.

Adam: You realize that I can hear you, right?

Adam: Okay. Well, then why are we wasting each other’s time?

Nick: Look, will you just stop talking and listen for once?

Adam: No. What for? So pops can put a fatherly hand on my shoulder?

Victor: Are you finished?

Adam: Apparently so. At least at Newman Enterprises. Unless I’m missing something here?

Victor: I told Victoria if she insisted on demanding that, that she would no longer have a job at this company.

Adam: What is this? Is this another game? A contest? What hoops have you arranged for me to jump through this time, dad?

Victor: Listen carefully. The games are over and you have won. The stance you took when everyone else thought that that my mental capacities were in decline. I could no longer run this company. You came up with a plan to support both me and the company.

Adam: Yeah. But that was my intention, 100%.

Victor: And I appreciate it. And if Victoria doesn’t see it that way, so be it. I run the show around here. If she disagrees with that, she can take a walk.

******************

Victor: Son, that’s enough. I’m sick and tired of all the bickering among you.

Adam: It has grown quite tedious, Nicholas.

Victor: Okay? No more. I will assign a job to you that is of importance. Nicholas, you will take over Nate Hastings’s position. And you will both do your best to convince Victoria to come back to the fold, all right?

Adam: Would that be okay for you, nick?

Nick: It doesn’t look like I have any choice.

Victor: You’re damn right you don’t have a choice. I call the shots, no one else. And if any of you don’t like it, you can all walk. I’ll replace all of you.

Nate: I take comfort in the fact that I don’t have to work with you any more. That is a significant silver lining.

Adam: Oh, yeah, your shirts. They’re still at the dry cleaners, so you’re going to have pick them up now that I’m not your assistant any more.

Nate: Point taken.

Adam: Hmm? Oh, no, I’m just getting started. I mean, I feel like there’s a giant weight that’s been lifted off my shoulders. I don’t know what to do with myself now that I’m not responsible for your– your emails and your schedule–

Nate: You’re annoying as hell, but I’ve got to hand it to you. You took a risk, made a play and ended up surviving.

Adam: You mean when I told my father not to trust you when you were gonna ship him off to treatment?

***************************

Adam: Look, I understand victor’s aim. He was trying to uncover bad intentions, which you clearly had.

Nate: When I believed your father was sick, I wanted him to receive the best care and attention possible. That’s why I pushed for the suggestion I made. You know, I wonder if things really paid off for you in all of this. Did Victor offer you a promotion for convincing him of your– your goodwill?

Adam: The details are still in the works.

Nate: That sounds like an evasion.

Adam: No, I have proven myself to my father. First, as being your assistant, and now by protecting him from an enemy, and that is you.

Nate: And yet, victor hasn’t rewarded you. Which leads me to believe he doesn’t trust you any more than he now trusts me.

Adam: Nate, you and I, we’re not in the same boat.

Nate: Well, since I’m out as you so graciously put it, you can no longer be my assistant.

Adam: What a tragedy.

Nikki: Oh, Victoria, what is it?

Victoria: Are you serious?

Nikki: What I am is exhausted.

Victoria: Oh, yeah. I– I can imagine how draining it must have been keeping such an ugly secret from all of us.

Nikki: Okay. You know, it’s late. I want to send Claire home. I want to convince your father to do the same.

Victoria: Yeah. I’ll bet– I’ll bet that dad has a lot to celebrate. I bet he’s feeling really on top of his game right now after deceiving all of us. Of course not you. No, not you.

Nikki: I know you are upset. We have to talk about this tomorrow.

Victoria: Why? What will it matter? What will it change? Dad exploited our concerns and our fears for what? A trap? That he suspected that one of us would fall into? I mean, does he have that little of faith in me? And you, you just let him do it.

Nikki: Let me tell you this. It’s not like your father consulted with me before beginning this charade. And then when he finally did tell me, I let him know how much I disagreed with it.

***************************Adam: You know, we had those conversations about what you wanted for me, what you hoped that I would become.

Victor: All of that is true.

Adam: I know. And then I started to think about how I’d hurt you over the years and how many times that I’ve let you down. I mean, how many times have we done this, you and I? A truce? And then something almost like a father and son.

Victor: Almost.

Adam: Yeah. Because I wanted to be a member of this family. I wanted to truly fit in. To be a part of this company. This– this amazing entity that you have built. But I fought it. And instead, I held on to anger and that hurt and that rage. Until you started exhibiting some extremely disturbing behavior. And it all changed.

Daniel: I was getting ready to show Chloe and sally the apartment and then, you know, sally, she started asking me if I had any general, like, design ideas.

Lily: You mean besides the poker table and folding chairs?

Daniel: Yeah, those. And then heather and Lucy, they just showed up at the door. I mean, I didn’t even know that they were back in town and there they were, you know. I guess Lucy wanted to surprise me and then well they succeeded on that. But, um, I mean, there was nothing planned about it. You know, I– I was hoping that you would be back from your meeting with Devon and we could talk to sally, talk about her ideas over dinner.

Chance: Yeah, of course I am. I take after my mother. I’m tough. Nothing can bring me down.

Nina: Ah, I love you. Now, what the hell is wrong with you, putting your mother through this? Oh. Oh, are you okay?

Chance: Hey. No, no, no. No crying. No crying. I can’t deal with the crying.

Nina: What do you expect? We’ve been through this before. You know, I can’t stand the thought of anything happening to you.

Chance: I know.

Nina: And you know, this job, it may not be too dangerous for you, but it’s definitely too dangerous for me.

Chance: Hey, look at me. I’m fine. Okay, I’m good as new.

Abby: Can I say something?

I know that you are strong enough to not be manipulated by anyone and if mamie wants to use her leverage in the company to reunite you with your cousin, I mean, it’s really not anything to be afraid of.

Victor: I’m sorry, my darling.

Nikki: That announcement was not at all what I was hoping you would say.

Adam: Dad, I– I really admire that you’re facing what we all have noticed.

Victor: Is that why you tried to trick me into seeing a doctor? To be evaluated without my consent?

Adam: No. Okay, I wasn’t happy about it, you can trust me on that, but you just said that you were in denial. Would you have co-operated if I was upfront with you?

[ Victor sighing ]

Victor: I guess… I’ve been faking this whole damn thing, you know? Because I was afraid of what was happening to me. I apologize.

Nick: No apologies, dad. I was wondering if that’s what was happening. Obviously, I hoped it wasn’t, but the thought did occur to me.

Victoria: Thank you. So, do you believe that Nate was being self-serving about this plan that he had for dad?

Nick: Which I said to dad like a dozen times, but he just kept referring back to how angry you were when you got demoted that he had stepped back in as CEO.

Phyllis: Not surprised I ran into you again. Big, little town, right?

Danny: [ Chuckles ] Yeah.

Phyllis: I know you love this time of year. It’s so beautiful out and crisp and cool. And that magical thing that the light does at a certain time of day.

Danny: It’s, uh– it’s nice.

Phyllis: It is nice. I got two words out of you.

Danny: Oh, it’s, um– I mean, you know–

Phyllis: Shh, shh. Yeah, I know. The bug comes back into town and suddenly, I’m the pariah, right?

******************************************

Nate: I’m fired?

Victor: You’re damn right.

Victoria: For what?

Nick: Dad–

Victor: You had it all planned, Nate, didn’t you, hm? Send me to some looney bin surrounded by doctors who didn’t give a damn about my health, just to keep me away from here, right?

Nate: Victor, if you believe that’s true, then, we still have a problem.

Victor: I have all the proof right here. I talked to the head of that looney bin. He gave me a full report.

Nate: Victor, I was protecting your privacy. Of course, I had to arrange things in advance. There needed to be ndas, precautions.

Victor: You are lying now and you were lying then.

Transcript provided by Suzanne

Mamie: Unbelievable.

Lily: What’s that, aunt mamie?

Mamie: A day set aside for giving thanks. And I’ve never been more grateful in my whole life. I mean, I’m here with my family, together, the way we should be.

Devon: Mm-hmm. It is kind of unbelievable, isn’t it?

Lily: Kind of?

Nate: And speaking of grateful, I hope you all know how much it means to me to be included. Cheers.

Mamie: Cheers.

Devon: Cheers.

Abby: Hi. Happy thanksgiving, my friend.

Lauren: Yes. And thank you so much in the midst of all of your chaos to come to the rescue of the baldwin-fisher thanksgiving catastrophe.

Abby: Got you.

Lauren: Yeah, you’re the best.

[ Both laughing ]

Tucker: Yay.

Audra: Thank you.

Audra: Okay.

Tucker: You always claim that it’s just fun and meaningless recreational sex, but I know you too well. You can sell that to yourself, but you can’t sell it to me. I think there’s something more going on. What?

Jack: Chelsea.

Chelsea: Hi.

Jack: Can I get you a drink?

Chelsea: I would love one. Oh, but nonalcoholic ’cause I’m driving.

Jack: Follow me, I have just the thing. I am so glad you are back in genoa city. I think billy is too. He missed you a lot.

Chelsea: Well, I missed him. I missed all of you. It’s so good to be home.

Jack: And connor’s doing well, I understand?

Chelsea: He’s doing great. Thank you for asking. He’s happy, jack, and he’s making friends, playing soccer and he’s loving school.

Jack: Well, when you see anita and connor later, please tell them we all said hello. I am so sorry you won’t be at our dining table, but we understand you want to spend thanksgiving with your mother and your son.

Chelsea: Well, thank you for understanding and I will send them your best.

Jack: Enjoy.

Ashley: Happy thanksgiving.

Jack: You all right, buddy.

Billy: Thank you very much.

Ashley: Hi. How are you?

Billy: Cheers.

Jack: So, you’ve made your decision?

Ashley: Well, I haven’t changed my mind.

Jack: A whole room full of people eager to have thanksgiving with you and you’re gonna leave.

Traci: Ooh, hi. Happy thanksgiving everyone. I’m so sorry I’m late. Everything took a lot longer than I thought.

Billy: We have an abbott family tradition. We take turns getting specialty desserts because uh, there’s a few of us that don’t like the uh, traditional ones that mrs. Martinez makes.

Chelsea: Like what?

Billy: Hm. Well, for instance, harrison, he doesn’t like pecans. He finds them disgusting.

Jack: Yeah. And?

Billy: I hate pumpkin pie.

Traci: It is–

Billy: I hate pumpkin pie.

Traci: A travesty, frankly.

Chelsea: And I am only hearing this now?

Billy: I know, I apologize.

Traci: I know. Chelsea, it’s a lot to process, honey. Listen, if you need to talk, you just call me.

Diane: Chelsea, I know that you’re having dinner with your son and, um, your mom, but please stay for some appetizers.

Chelsea: Well, thank you, diane. They look delicious.

Billy: I’m almost afraid to ask, but is adam joining you?

Chelsea: No. I had a conversation with connor and I explained that adam and anita don’t particularly get along and connor didn’t want to put ’em through that, so they’re going to spend some quality time together this weekend.

Billy: Well, good for connor. That’s very mature of him.

Jack: It absolutely is. Understanding the importance of avoiding conflict on a family holiday that’s about love and unity is not only mature, it is wise.

Ashley: Have I ever complimented you on your subtlety, jack?

Jack: No, I don’t think you have.

Ashley: There’s a reason for that.

[ All chuckling ]

Jack: That’s not that funny.

Audra: You know, if I didn’t know any better, I’d think you’re a little jealous I have any connection to kyle abbott.

Tucker: Protective. You are, after all, an essential participant in my plans for jabot.

Audra: Fine. Have it your way. We can call it protective.

Tucker: Mm-hmm. If I didn’t know better, I would say I heard a twinge of disappointment in your voice just now.

Audra: Ah, don’t read too much into it. You know bourbon makes me nostalgic.

Tucker: You know, I’ve been thinking. In some alternate universe, you and I would have– we would have been a perfect match. Unfortunately, in this one, despite everything we’ve been through emotionally and– and personally and professionally, I think maybe we’re just too– we’re just too alike to have a shot at being more than what we already are.

Audra: You really believe that?

Tucker: Absolutely, audra. What’s not to fall in love with? You’re brilliant and talented. And look at you, you’re stunningly beautiful. Hey. I think I am a little jealous. I just think in some other world, we would have been a couple for the ages. You’re never gonna get anything approaching that with kyle abbott. And I think you deserve it.

Lauren: You are such a lifesaver, abby. Letting us use society for our family dinner. I mean, leave it to gloria to show up from singapore with michael unannounced. No phone call. No heads up, no nothing and she expects a thanksgiving dinner. Homemade, right?

Abby: Well, it is gloria. What do you expect? At least she didn’t show up with a whole entourage.

Kevin: That is exactly right, abby. Leave it to gloria to change everybody’s– hi. Holiday plans at the drop of a hat. That thai food and football we were looking forward to, forget it. Instead, we’re having a family reunion nobody wanted.

Abby: Well, hello, kevin and chloe. How are you?

Chloe: Oh, festive. Look, we all have to endure this, so just put on a smile and pretend like you want to be here, like the rest of the adults.

Kevin: You know I don’t like surprises.

Lauren: Oh, come on. You want to see your brother and your mother.

Kevin: Michael, of course, for sure, but gloria? After she has been in and out of prison for the past six months fighting even more potential jail time? It is anybody’s guess what her demeanor is going to be, but I think we can all rule out stoic.

Michael: Come on. Come on. Come on. Hey guys! Ah, kevin! Look at you all. Ah, sister, one. My love. Love, abby. Thank you for making this happen for us today.

Abby: Of course.

Gloria: Hola. Over here. I haven’t slept in months, but I am putting one foot in front of the other because that’s how much you mean to me.

[ Chuckling ] Grandbabies. Where are my grandbabies?

Chloe: They are home with my mother, gloria.

Kevin: We’re gonna see them later for dessert.

Gloria: Oh, yay. Thank god for that because I haven’t seen them in such a long time and my life is not complete without them. They are the air that I breathe, the blood that flows through my veins. They are my legacy. They are my reason.

[ Gloria muttering ]

[ Gloria snoring ]

Kevin: Honestly, I thought it would be worse.

Devon: So, hey, aunt mamie. Since we’re all together like this as a family, I think it might be a great opportunity for you to share with us what tucker’s real intentions are.

Lily: And not the intention he’s trying to sell us all.

Devon: Yeah, because that changes depending on who he’s talking to. Remember that nate coming back to chancellor-winters depends on this information.

Mamie: And I have every intention of telling you whatever it is that I know, but not today. Today is not about business plots. Today is about family, gratitude, us loving each other.

Daniel: Well, you know, I don’t know the man like you all do, but I’d be willing to bet that even tucker mccall isn’t gonna be making any big moves on thanksgiving day.

Nate: Listen, whatever tucker is or isn’t up to, I have to say it again. The fact that you’re even considering letting me return to chancellor-winters after everything that went down, it means a lot to me. And I won’t let you down.

Mamie: You’re darn right that you won’T. Because you’re our blood and we won’t allow it.

Abby: Well, it is so good to see all of you. Michael, gloria, I’m glad that you’re home and I’m glad that you kept her out of prison. Just so you know, the chef prepared everything. It’s all in warming trays in the kitchen, but I did give my waitstaff the day off, so you’ll have to serve yourselves the wine and the dinner.

Gloria: Hey, hey, hey. No, waitstaff? Let me tell you, when I owned glow, there was–

Michael: Oh, your employees must be very grateful and I’m pretty sure that we can manage. Thank you so much.

Abby: Well, um, I hope you have a beautiful thanksgiving, and thank you for making society a part of your celebration.

Kevin: Thank you, abby.

All: Bye.

Lauren: How amazing is she that she put this whole family dinner together with no notice?

Gloria: I guess so. But after eating nothing but prison food for all these months, a warm, home-cooked thanksgiving dinner would have been so nice. Is that too much to ask?

Lauren: Frankly, yes.

Kevin: Chloe, why don’t we have a look in the back and see how our food is coming along?

Chloe: Genius.

Kevin: Thank you.

Lauren: You know, if you had your heart set on a home-cooked meal, it would have been great if you had given me some sort of heads up that you are on your way to genoa city, instead of just showing up on my doorstep.

Michael: To be fair, that wasn’t all gloria’s fault.

Lauren: Oh, how so?

Michael: I sent you several texts and they never went through. Every call I tried to make went dead. I mean, what should we have done? Stayed in singapore?

[ Gloria snoring ]

Ashley: I’m gonna split the difference, okay? I’m gonna go to the club, hopefully have a drink with tucker and devon and then I’ll be back here in time for dinner.

Jack: I guess that’s the best I can hope for. Though I can’t help feeling you’re wasting your time.

Ashley: Well, I guess it’s a good thing it’s my time and not yours.

Jack: I know you’re trying to bring out tucker’s humanity.

Ashley: We’ve been over this, jack. Yes, I want to help mend the rift between tucker and devon. And hopefully, that’ll show tucker that there’s no point in attacking jabot. I don’t know. Maybe.

Jack: There is no decency in that man. There is no civility left.

Ashley: I guess we’ll find out. Okay, I will see you all at dinner.

Billy: All right. Bye.

Ashley: Chelsea, don’t miss me too much.

Chelsea: Hurry back.

[ Indistinct chatter ]

Audra: So, what you’re saying is that I deserve someone like you, just not you.

Tucker: It’s complicated.

Audra: Enlighten me.

[ Tucker sighing ]

Tucker: Oh, brother.

Audra: What is it?

Tucker: See for yourself.

Audra: Wow. I didn’t see that coming. Clearly, you didn’t either. You’re not answering?

Tucker: Nope. I don’t trust that invitation any more than I trust ashley. You heard kyle’s recording of her conversation with jack? There’s nothing vague about that. She’s setting me up.

Audra: Mm. It sounded to me like she’s trying to turn you into a human being. And if she is setting you up, so what? You know, cat and mouse, you love the game. You miss it. And I think you’re holding out hope she does too.

Tucker: What’s your point?

Audra: My point is you can love and hate someone at the same time. Which you should know better than anyone since I think that’s exactly how you’re feeling about ashley. You love her every bit as much as you hate her right now. If it’s a lost cause, then tell her no. Exactly.

Billy: There you go.

Jack: Thank you.

Billy: You’re welcome.

Diane: Hey. Are you okay?

Kyle: I’m okay. Why?

Diane: Ah, you just seem a little preoccupied.

Kyle: Yeah, I guess I am.

Diane: Is it– is it because harrison is spending the day with summer?

Kyle: No. No, not at all. They were both excited about it and I got to spend time with harrison in the park this morning.

Diane: Then, let me guess. It’s about your involvement with audra for this plan of yours? Kyle, I have to tell you, I’m a little worried too.

Kyle: Did I say I was worried about it? I’m not. And you shouldn’t be either. I’ve got this and I’ll be using her way more than she would ever use me. You can take my word for it.

Tucker: You want me to say no to ashley? I don’t think so.

Audra: Then, I rest my case.

Tucker: You don’t have a case. Think about it. This is a golden opportunity for me to find out how far she’s willing to take this thing. No, really. I’d be a fool not to respond. In fact, I think I’ll do just that. Sure. Meet me in the jazz lounge.

Audra: You just did the exact opposite of what I proposed.

Tucker: That shouldn’t surprise you. Oh and for the record, don’t pretend to have more insight into me than I do.

Audra: Except I do, tucker.

Tucker: How do you figure?

Audra: Well, you know, that other life, alternative universe thing? You say that I know your heart there, but I know it here too. And to be brutally honest with you, I think you’re gonna end up blowing this whole plan of yours right out of the water because you can’t get ashley out of your head.

Chloe: Okay everyone, we can do better than this. It’s thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for. We are at our favorite restaurant. We have it all to ourselves. Michael and gloria are home safe and sound from halfway across the world. We are healthy.

Gloria: If you don’t count jet-lagged, malnourished or sleep deprived.

Chloe: Let’s make the most of it, shall we? Michael, kevin, how about you pour us some wine? And lauren, why don’t you help me in the kitchen?

Kevin: Great idea. Mikey?

Michael: Yes.

Gloria: Chloe, you just did that a few minutes ago.

Chloe: Yeah. It’s a very elaborate dinner. It just needs extra attention. I promise you are going to love every bit of it.

Lauren: Oh, well, then there’s no place I’d rather be.

Kevin: It is so good to see you, mikey. I really missed you.

Michael: I really missed you too. It feels like it’s been forever.

Kevin: So, how was your trip?

[ Gloria sighing ]

Michael: You can’t even imagine.

Kevin: You two were gone so long, chloe and I were starting to think you and mom were relocating to singapore.

Gloria: Oh, dear god. Perish the thought. All the while I was away, all I could think about was getting home to my family. It’s the only thing that kept me alive, angel.

Michael: All of which could have been easily avoided if you had managed to stay out of trouble for once in your life.

Gloria: Oh, sure, like it’s all my fault.

Lauren: Well, I think we’d all love to know what happened in singapore and why it took michael so damn long to exonerate you.

[ Gloria sighing ]

Devon: So, mamie. Listen, I think that it’s fantastic that you’re trying to bring the family together like this. I think it’s a great goal to have, but I’m sure that you understand that it hurts a lot more when you get betrayed by your own family than anybody else. Which is why this has been so difficult for us to get past.

Mamie: And I understand that, devon. It looks to me like all of you are inching your way back towards each other, towards family. And for now, that’s good enough for me. It’s a start. To progress. Hm? Look, I’m a realist enough to realize that not every family is so united.

Abby: And if you don’t believe her, you could head over to society and hang out with the baldwins and the fishers.

Mamie: Yeah. You know, I spent many years in the abbott house. I know how close they are. Now, that’s the strength of their bond. Their family business has thrived because of the– oh, you know what? I said I wasn’t gonna talk about business today. All I care about today is my belief in the core of my soul that our family is headed for something truly magnificent.

Lily: Well, then maybe you can tell us how tucker plays into all of that. Because I think we deserve to know.

Mamie: Well, all righty then. Since you’re all sitting here staring at me. No. This has nothing to do with tucker grabbing chancellor-winters for himself. This is all about you, devon.

Devon: All about me? What does that mean?

Mamie: Your future. His legacy for his grandson.

Devon: And that’s all this is about? That’s it?

Mamie: Tucker just never believed that jill had any rights to own katherine’s company. He believes that you are the true chancellor heir.

Devon: Okay. So then what? His plan is to push jill out of the company? Okay. Uh, I think we should probably warn jill.

Lily: Well, I mean, jill is already expecting this. Mamie hasn’t told us anything we don’t already know.

Devon: Yeah, that’s very true. Mamie, do you think you can share with us any specifics on what tucker’s plan is to overthrow jill?

Chelsea: He’s good.

Jack: Fantastic.

Billy: So jack told me that you rethought your potential future at jabot and that you have decided to come back in the coo position?

Kyle: Yes, I have.

Billy: That’s exciting. What changed your mind?

Kyle: Does it matter?

Billy: No. I guess it– I guess it doesn’t matter as long as you’re being sincere.

Kyle: What? You question my motives, billy? Relax. You have nothing to worry about.

Billy: Believe me, kyle. I’m not worried about it. But I am protective.

Kyle: Of what?

Billy: The company. Family. Jack.

Kyle: What, you think you need to protect my father from me?

Billy: I didn’t say that.

Chelsea: Hey, billy. Um, I have to go meet my mom and connor.

Billy: Yes, of course. Excuse us.

Ashley: What a surprise. Look at how cozy you two are. Happy thanksgiving.

Tucker: You’re surprised to see us here? I don’t see why. We’re– we’re trendsetters. We always have been. We decided that turkey and mashed potatoes and family gatherings are passé and if you’re hip, what you’re doing is drinking whiskey and eating cheeseburgers at a hotel bar on thanksgiving. Right? Probably a little too avant-garde for you though, ashley.

Audra: Well, uh, you have clearly a lot to talk about, so if you’ll excuse me. Tucker, thank you so much for dinner. Ashley, uh, happy thanksgiving to you as well.

Ashley: Thank you so much.

Tucker: Speaking of surprises, I didn’t expect to hear from you today of all days.

Ashley: Yeah. Today of all days.

Tucker: I would expect you to be gathered around the sacred abbott dinner table, laughing and enjoying mrs. Martinez’s sweet potatoes and arguing over who gets the wishbone and…

Ashley: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I’m gonna be home in plenty of time for all the festivities.

Tucker: So, what are you doing here?

Ashley: Well, you know, I started thinking about you and how are you gonna be all alone on thanksgiving. Yeah. Um, made me kind of sad for you and also, you know, devon, so I thought today would be a great day to start trying to bridge the gap. I’ve never been healthier.

Shingles doesn’t care.

But shingrix protects.

Proven over 90% effective,

Tucker: Ashley, don’t waste a minute of your time pretending to feel bad for me. I’ve been through calamities worse than the one you and I went through. And here I am. Please, can we leave devon out of it? I still don’t trust your motives when it comes to helping us reconcile.

Ashley: Okay. I know that you’re in a lot of pain, even though you act like such a tough guy. And I know the pain keeps piling on.

Tucker: Devon?

Ashley: Among other things.

Tucker: Hm.

Ashley: I texted devon and I asked him to join us here. You know, to try to make peace.

Tucker: Did you? Wow. How presumptuous. But you don’t actually expect him to show up any more than I do. So, what is the real reason you’re here? What do you want?

Ashley: That’s the real reason. Although, you know what? I have a proposition for you.

Tucker: Ah.

Gloria: For your information, lauren, I have been yearning to reunite with my family for months now. I am not going to contaminate this occasion by recounting the most unspeakable nightmare I’ve been through.

Michael: That’s a bit overstated, but I agree. There’s no point in dredging it up.

Gloria: Thank you.

Kevin: Um, I’m sorry, mikey, but I disagree. Our mother did something that landed her in a singapore jail and now she’s trying to shrug it off with a wave and a simple, “I hate when that happens.”

Gloria: Honey, it was just a simple case of mistaken identity.

[ Michael laughing ]

Michael: Well, that was the defense. But come on, gloria. Now that it’s all out in the open, let’s stop pretending, shall we? There was no case of mistaken identity. Per usual, you were as guilty as hell of the crime you were charged with.

Chloe: Guilty as hell of what?

Kevin: You know, we’re not gonna let up until you tell us, so you may as well get it over with.

[ Gloria sighing ]

Gloria: I think all of you are very cruel, asking me to relive the most horrible experience of my life. You don’t seem to comprehend the pain that this unfortunate incident caused me. Don’t you realize it is a miracle that I am alive?

Michael: Oh, good god, woman. You are really gonna milk this for all it’s worth. As if you kidnapped the prime minister’s children or committed a capital crime.

Gloria: My persecution was almost that bad.

Michael: Oh, enough! That’s enough! Let’s get our dinner, sit down, give thanks and then we will clear up this mystery once and for all. And if you don’t tell them, I will.

Chloe: Mangia.

Lauren: Let’s go.

Kevin: Having fun?

Chloe: Oh, merci.

[ Gloria sighing ]

[Deep exhale]

Lauren: So even though this was a shotgun thanksgiving, it brought us together, especially michael. No offense, gloria, but my husband has been gone way too long and I couldn’t be happier that he’s home where he belongs. We have quite the most interesting family, but we have each other. And that’s what I’m grateful for. Okay, your turn.

Kevin: Well, uh, michael, lauren, and chloe pretty much covered it all, but uh, I will just add that I am so– so grateful for our happy and healthy children. I’m thankful for my own health so I can enjoy and appreciate every single moment with them. And oddly, I’m thankful for this moment. Right now with my beautiful, happy and healthy family. Okay, gloria, you’re up.

[ Gloria chuckling ]

Gloria: Well, of course, I’m happy and grateful for my beautiful family too. Of course. But I am most especially grateful for michael. My brilliant son who saved me from a fate of unspeakable suffering.

[ Michael chuckling ]

Michael: For god’s sakes. You have drained this table of all the sympathy that you were ever going to get out of it. Or you’ve tried to. Just tell them.

Gloria: Oh, all right. Fine. If it will help you get on with your life. I had an affair with a diplomat. And then one beautiful, sunny fateful day, his wife showed up unexpectedly and caught us together.

Chloe: Uh-oh.

Lauren: That’s not good.

Kevin: How dare she?

Gloria: And she was one of those drama queens.

Kevin: Oh, one of those.

Gloria: Oh, yes. And then she had this completely over-the-top meltdown. Hurling insults at me. Unwarranted, all of them, of course. And then, she threw me out like a common trollop.

Michael: But wait, ladies and gentlemen, there’s more. Mother?

Gloria: All right. I went into the closet to retrieve my clothes. And yes, I happened to take one, two, three pairs of her designer shoes and this divine silk cocktail dress on my way out.

Kevin: You did what?

Lauren: You took the woman’s clothes?

Chloe: Despicable.

Gloria: Well, after everything I’d been through, I thought I deserved them. And the worst part, the husband’s the one who pressed charges. I mean, imagine the gall.

Lauren: And you got her off on a mistaken identity defense? What?

Michael: Yes. I am that good.

Chloe: Well…

Michael: Hear, hear.

[ Michael laughing ]

Ashley: You know that company that we acquired as a foundation for simply ashley?

Tucker: Oh, uh, glacade?

Ashley: Glacade.

Tucker: Yeah. What about it?

Ashley: Well, you know, it’s solid as a rock. Has a lot of potential. Why don’t you take it? Like just pick up right where we left off. And then you can just go forward in a positive, productive, fantastic direction.

Tucker: While you do what?

Ashley: Absolutely nothing. Yeah. You know, consider it a, uh, a gesture of goodwill because I reneged on our business partnership. And then maybe, uh, for the sake of our children and our grandchild, we can have some kind of peace and tranquility. And then, you know, it’ll make it easier for everybody. What do you think?

Tucker: Yeah. That’s okay. Deal.

Ashley: Yeah. Great. Sure.

Mamie: Tucker and I came into this with two common goals. Mine was to get back with my family and tucker’s was to get rid of jill so that he could clear a path for devon and lily. I’m for both of those goals, aren’t you? Ask yourself this. Would it really be so bad if jill didn’t have equal control of chancellor-winters anymore? Have you ever thought about what it would be like to not have to run every decision past her? To be able to own your company without outside interference? Have you ever secretly wondered what that might feel like? Hm?

[ Jack sighing ]

Traci: Jack, it’s long past time to eat and we’re all starving.

Jack: Yeah. I’m starving too. I was just trying to figure out whether to wait for ashley.

Traci: Okay. Um, let’s– let’s think that through together, shall we? We all know where ashley went and we all know who she’s with. So, do you want to let our thanksgiving hinge on what may or may not happen between ashley and tucker?

Jack: You ever get tired of being the voice of reason around here?

Traci: It’s a dirty job, but you know.

Jack: Can I have everyone’s attention, please? Um, dinner will be served momentarily. I just wanted to say a couple of words. I have so much to be grateful for in my own personal life. I married the woman of my dreams this year and it has brought a richness, a level of meaning and joy that has changed who I am as a man. As far as the family goes, I probably don’t have to say this has been a challenging year for the abbotts, on several fronts. More than once, I think it looked like we were going to, well shatter, splinter. But in the end, we got through it. Why? Because as strong as we all are as individuals, we all know from life that we are decidedly stronger together. Strong enough to handle anything that life throws us. We have so much to be grateful for and so much to look forward to. Yes, there will be challenges. Yes, there will be setbacks, but we will grow and learn and thrive as long as we face those challenges together. Happy thanksgiving.

All: Happy thanksgiving.

Traci: Hear, hear.

Announcer: Next time on the young and the restless…

Nikki: You did this to me.

Jordan: No, nikki newman. You did this to yourself.

Victor: I’m through playing games with you.

Jordan: This is no game. This is as serious as a heart attack. Which is what you will all be experiencing very soon thanks to the poison that you just drank in your water bottles. You don’t have long to live. And it’s going to be my utmost pleasure to stand here and watch you die.
