Days of Our Lives Update

Wendy and Tripp kiss until Li walks in and says not to let him interrupt. Wendy says they didn’t know he was there. Tripp explains that they haven’t had a chance to be together much since he’s been working nights. Li understands and guesses he’s just down on romance after his date last night. Wendy brings up that Li told them it was a disaster but didn’t say why and asks what happened. Li reveals that his “perfect match” tried to send him to prison.

At the bar, Melinda offers to buy Sloan a drink. Sloan asks if she just wants to gloat. Melinda argues that she had an open and shut case against her brother and that Sloan knew that going in. Sloan hoped that she could get Colin a lighter sentence. Melinda says that after what he did to Paulina and Chanel and giving Abe a head injury, there was no way. Sloan tells Melinda that she’s not going to have the drink because she’s pregnant.

Eric goes to see Brady at John and Marlena’s. Eric asks if the rumors are true. Brady confirms that he threatened Kristen with a gun. Eric questions how he could be so unbelievably stupid.

At the DiMera Mansion, Kristen complains about looking for a decent criminal lawyer. Belle walks in and says they need to talk. Belle asks if Kristen is actually going to let Brady go to prison. Kristen asks why not and what Brady has ever done for her.

Brady knows threatening Kristen with a gun wasn’t the wisest thing to do but argues that he needed her to tell him where she stashed his kid. Eric worries that Brady gave Kristen ammunition to go after him. Eric admits that he gets why Brady did it and that he was terrified of not seeing his kid again. Eric adds that he understands that now more than ever, because he just found out that he’s going to be a father.

EJ and Nicole meet with the specialist Dr. Sorenson at the hospital. Nicole thanks her for taking the time and introduces her to EJ. EJ apologizes for missing the first appointment as he was detained. EJ talks about how Nicole told him that she’s optimistic that she can carry the baby to term. She says now that Nicole is further along, she can tell them more about the baby’s health and also the gender. Nicole reveals that they’ve decided to say no to that and be surprised. EJ assures that they would be delighted with a son or a daughter as they just want the baby to be healthy. EJ decides that he will let them get on with the examination but she says she’d like to start by examining EJ.

Brady questions Eric being a father as he thought Nicole’s baby turned out to be EJ’s. Eric confirms that to be true but reveals that Sloan’s baby is his.

Melinda questions Sloan being pregnant. Sloan notes that she seems surprised. Melinda thought she was the ultimate career woman. Sloan says she was, but then she met Eric Brady. Melinda asks if she’s going to keep the baby, pointing out that she and Eric haven’t been together that long and says this couldn’t have been a planned baby but Sloan says that it was. Sloan asks if Melinda is surprised because they aren’t married. Melinda says she’s no one to judge. Sloan says they couldn’t be happier as Eric always wanted to be a father and brings up how just recently, Eric thought he could be the father of Nicole’s baby but he isn’t and EJ is. Melinda then questions if Sloan is just giving Eric the baby that he didn’t have with Nicole. Sloan insists that she’s not just having the baby to make Eric happy as she wants the baby very bad. Sloan brings up that her parents are dead and Colin is going to prison, so she realized that she doesn’t have any family around and she’s decided to create one of her own. Melinda congratulates her then and insists that she’s being sincere as she admires that Sloan is taking risks to get what she wants. Melinda wishes she could do the same since she’s alone and doesn’t care for that very much. Melinda adds that she used to have a family too and Sloan’s idea of creating a new one does have it’s appeal. Sloan encourages her to go for it and asks if she’s seeing anyone. Melinda informs her that she actually just started dating again and had her first date last night with Li Shin. Sloan asks how it went. Melinda responds that it was a giant disaster. Sloan asks what happened. Melinda explains that it started out alright and then he caught her. Sloan questions what she was doing.

Li explains to Wendy and Tripp that Melinda tried to trick him in to admitting that he was behind the plot to kill Stefan DiMera while recording them. Tripp asks if that’s not entrapment. Li says it would’ve been if he had done anything wrong, but insists that he’s completely innocent. Tripp agrees that would be a bad date. Li says the odd part is that before that, they were actually hitting it off and bonding. Wendy comments that it seems like they have a fair amount in common. Tripp suggests Li give Melinda another chance.

Brady questions Eric about having a baby with Sloan and congratulates him. Eric thanks him and admits he’s excited about it, more than he thought he would be. Brady hopes that Eric is seeing Sloan for who she is and that he’s not disappointed when it all goes wrong. Eric assures that Sloan is nothing like Kristen. Eric says that bad things happened to Sloan and she lost her way, but she’s a good person. Brady says he’s happy for them then. Eric jokes that he’ll be leaning on Brady for advice. Brady doesn’t think his advice would be that helpful since he’s the guy that threatened Kristen with a gun. Eric points out that it was just a threat and he was desperate to find out what she did with Rachel. Brady informs him that the worst part is that Rachel heard him say it. Eric asks if he was able to convince her that he didn’t really mean it. Brady says obviously not since it was Rachel who called the cops which shocks Eric. Brady reveals that he’s looking at attempted murder charges. Eric urges Brady that he has to get through to Rachel and to retract her statement. Brady questions what he’s supposed to do and asks what kind of father would say his daughter was lying. Eric asks what kind of father he will be in prison. Brady states that even if he asked Rachel to change her statement, he’s not sure that she would do it because she’s under Kristen’s control that much. Eric insists that Rachel must not have known what she was doing. Brady adds that Kristen also backed up Rachel’s statement. Eric asks what Brady is going to do. Brady informs him that Belle is talking to Kristen now, so he’s hoping to God that she gets through to her.

Kristen acknowledges that Belle has guts but she asked her last night to salvage her and Brady’s custody agreement and she turned her down but now she wants her to help get Brady out of this. Belle admits that she was angry on Brady’s behalf when she turned her down. Kristen says she’s angry on her behalf because she thought that she and Brady had a deal, but then he pulled a gun on her. Belle argues that Brady was out of his mind with worry about Rachel when he did that and that Kristen would’ve done the same thing if the table were turned. Kristen says probably but it wasn’t her. Belle questions what Kristen gets by sending Brady to prison.

EJ questions Dr. Sorenson wanting to examine him. She says she’s just trying to get a full picture of the child’s health which means they have to consider several factors. EJ agrees to whatever she needs. She states that she just needs a sample of his DNA.

Kristen asks if Belle thinks Brady might actually be prosecuted. Belle states that attempted murder charges might not be serious to DiMeras, but it is to the law. Belle argues that she doesn’t think Brady really would’ve pulled the trigger. Belle admits that what Brady did was wrong but says that Kristen pushed him to it. Kristen argues that she did not kidnap Rachel. Belle says there is blame on both sides and asks what matters most to her because Rachel’s best interest is having both parents in her life. Kristen asks Belle what she wants her to do then. Belle wants Kristen to recant her statement to Jada and not send the father of her child to prison.

Eric didn’t realize how bad things had gotten between Brady and Kristen. Eric wishes there was some way he could help. Brady says he got himself in to this, so he will have to find a way to get his ass out of it. Eric tells Brady that if there’s anything he can do, all he has to do is ask. Brady thanks him. Eric says he has to get going to join Sloan at her first appointment. Brady asks how Sloan is feeling about the pregnancy as he knows Eric is happy but he feels Sloan didn’t seem like the settling down type. Eric then reveals that the pregnancy was planned and was actually Sloan’s idea which surprises Brady. Eric explains that Sloan saw how disappointed he was when he found out he wasn’t the father of Nicole’s baby and that he’s always wanted to be a father. Eric adds that Sloan wants kids too since she doesn’t have her parents and her brother is going to prison, so she was kind of motivated to get pregnant. Brady calls that pretty selfless of her and acknowledges that Sloan must love him. Eric responds that he loves her too.

Melinda explains to Sloan that while on a date with Li, she tried to record him admitting that he wanted Stefan dead which surprises Sloan. Melinda adds that it’s not like she planned to do it as she and Li didn’t even know they were meeting since they were set up by a matchmaker. Melinda acknowledges that they were actually getting along despite the fact that she had tried to send him to prison. Melinda says it was an obstacle at first, but they have so much in common and she started opening up to him. Melinda thinks they were both having fun and there was chemistry too, but then she saw an opportunity to get a confession and Li caught on quickly. Melinda feels she should’ve known that trying to trap Li would blow up in her face. Sloan questions why Melinda did it if she was having fun and there was chemistry between them.

Li questions Tripp saying he should give Melinda another chance. Tripp acknowledges that Melinda shouldn’t have tried to record him, but maybe it was an impulsive decision that she regrets. Tripp states that Melinda has been through a lot the past couple years. Wendy asks about that while Li asks how he knows. Tripp explains that Melinda had a daughter who was a nurse at the hospital and she died in a freak accident. Wendy calls that so sad. Tripp says her name was Haley and she was a friend of his but she got her life cut short in a horrible way. Li states that losing a child must be the worst pain in the world, but that doesn’t change how he feels about last night and he never wants to see Melinda Trask again.

EJ questions the doctor wanting his DNA. She says just a simple cheek swab is all. Nicole argues that they already did the paternity test and asks what else she needs. She explains that the hospital had DNA from Eric Brady, but nothing from EJ, and questions why that is. Nicole admits that she didn’t tell her that when she got pregnant, she was 99% sure that EJ was the father but there was a slight chance that it could be Eric’s. Nicole adds that once they ruled out that chance, they knew EJ was the father obviously. Dr. Sorenson still wants a DNA analysis to look out for genetic markers or any diseases that could be passed on to the baby. She reminds them that the goal of their appointment is to assure that they have a healthy baby. Nicole says they can’t argue with that.

Eric admits that he was taken aback when Sloan said she wanted to have their baby. Eric says it goes to show that people can change and suggests that maybe Kristen will surprise him but Brady doubts that. Brady tells Eric that he is happy for him as he knows how long he’s wanted this. Brady thinks Eric will be one hell of a good dad. Eric tells him to let him know how things go with Belle and Kristen. Eric reminds him that he’ll do anything he can to help him. Brady thanks him but thinks the only person that can help him is Kristen.

Kristen is not sure that changing her statement is the silver bullet that Belle thinks it is because Brady admitted that he wanted to kill her and Rachel heard him. Belle argues that Brady didn’t know if his daughter was alive or dead, so he was at his wit’s end. Kristen asks if that’s what she is going to tell the jury. Belle confirms that it is and that without testimony, Melinda will have a hard time making the charge stick. Kristen asks what she gets out of keeping Brady out of jail. Belle asks if she’s talking about a deal. Kristen brings up that Brady went back on their shared custody agreement. Kristen then declares that she will change her statement if Brady signs on the dotted line. Belle assures she’ll get him to sign if she will do that. Kristen remarks that it will be hard since Brady tore it up but Belle is sure she can get a fresh copy. Kristen asks if she really thinks Brady will sign. Belle thinks Brady will be very appreciative of what she’s doing for him, so that he will be more than willing to sign the terms.

Melinda tells Sloan that she doesn’t know what made her record Li and guesses it was instinct as she smelled blood and went for it. Sloan relates to being there a time or two. Melinda feels part of her just always needs to win and it overpowered her want to have a real human connection. Melinda admits that when Li stormed out and she was eating alone, she felt sad. Sloan knows Li might not be the most morally upstanding person, but he is handsome and really rich. Sloan adds that he can be pretty shrewd when he needs to be. Melinda asks what she’s getting at. Sloan knows she doesn’t know her that well but feels that Li might be Melinda’s perfect match. Melinda is pretty sure Li never wants to see her again after last night. Melinda then reveals that her matchmaker set her up with someone else tonight and he’s meeting her here.

Wendy tells Li that she’s really sorry that his date didn’t go well as she knows how much he wants a fresh start after everything with Gabi. Li responds that he’s not giving up and reveals that the matchmaker has already set him up with someone else to meet and he has to go now. Li jokes that he’s sure they are sad to see him go and he hopes they can find a way to fill the empty hours. Tripp wishes him luck and hopes this lady works out better. Li says as long as she doesn’t try to convict him of a felony, it will be a definite improvement as he then exits the apartment.

Dr. Sorenson says she will send EJ’s DNA to the lab and they will get the results in a few days. She says they will then do an ultrasound on the baby as she steps out. EJ and Nicole talk about their excitement as they kiss.

Sloan jokes about Melinda meeting a guy while already finishing a martini. Sloan talks about having to take care of her baby and having her first pre-natal appointment today. Melinda hopes it goes well. Sloan says she feels good and Eric will be there too. Melinda acknowledges that it was nice talking to her and suggests they do it again sometime. Sloan agrees that she would like that. Melinda send her regards to Eric, acknowledging that they haven’t always seen eye to eye but she knows he’s a good man and thinks he will be a great father. Sloan agrees and says he’s very happy about the baby. Sloan tells Melinda that she will see her soon as she then exits.

Wendy and Tripp have leftovers for dinner. Wendy tells Tripp that she was sorry to hear about Tripp’s friend Haley. Tripp thanks her and calls it a real shock when she died. Wendy asks if they were close. Tripp says they could say that as he reveals that they were actually married, which shocks Wendy.

Belle goes to see Brady, who asks how it went and if it’s good news or bad news. Belle hopes he thinks it’s good news. Brady asks what that means. Belle responds that she can make this whole thing go away and he won’t go to prison. Brady asks what the catch is. Belle then informs him that Kristen will change her statement, if he agrees to a shared custody arrangement. Brady complains that he either goes to jail or has to share custody with a maniac. Belle goes over that Brady pulled a gun on Kristen, said he was going to kill her, and his daughter heard him so he’s not going to get everything he wants. Brady says he understands and takes the agreement to sign. Kristen then walks in and questions if Brady signed it. Brady is taken aback and questions if they came here together. Belle asks what difference that makes. Brady argues that if he signs it, there’s no guarantee that Kristen will talk to the cops. Brady then declares that he’s not signing anything until Kristen upholds her end of this crap bargain that Belle made. Kristen tells Brady to have fun in prison then. Brady warns that if he goes, he’ll just grant custody of Rachel to John and Marlena. Belle acknowledges that would be within Brady’s rights. Kristen then says fine and calls Melinda, who asks what she wants. Kristen puts it on speaker and says she’s been thinking about the statement she gave and she was pretty rattled in the moment, but she feels like she overstated things which Melinda questions. Kristen tells her that she would like to retract her statement and not press charges against Brady. Melinda reminds her that she still has Rachel’s statement. Kristen is sure once she explains things to her, Rachel will feel the same way. Melinda questions if she was just wasting her time. Kristen remarks that she’s so glad they understand each other and hangs up. Kristen then tells Brady that it’s his turn.

Wendy comments on being pretty surprised as Tripp never told her that he was married before. Tripp explains that it was just so Haley could get a green card but immigration didn’t like that so they had to make it look like true love. Tripp admits that while they were doing that, he kind of fell for her. Wendy says no wonder it was so awful when he lost her. Tripp assures that he’ll never forget her, but he tells himself that she is in peace and would want him to be happy, which he is. Tripp then kisses Wendy. Wendy mentions having to get back to the office. Tripp suggests they watch a movie if she’s still awake when he gets off. Wendy says it’s a date as they kiss. Wendy hopes Li’s date works out as well because he needs to find someone too. Tripp comments that it’s too bad he wouldn’t even consider giving Melinda another chance.

Melinda calls the matchmaker and complains about the guy still not showing up. She’s instructed to look for a man in a blue blazer as she hangs up. Li then arrives and Melinda says it couldn’t be him again.

Eric goes to the hospital and runs in to Nicole. Nicole mentions just having an appointment with the specialist. Eric asks if she’s okay. Nicole says they did a sonogram and everything looked great but the specialist wants to make sure everything is okay by having EJ’s DNA tested. Eric says it sounds like EJ found the right doctor. Nicole then asks what Eric is doing here and if he’s okay. Sloan then arrives and joins Eric, saying that they are both great and she’s pregnant.

EJ thanks Dr. Sorenson again for coming back to Salem on such short notice. She jokes about having to put up with gourmet on his private jet. EJ asks if she can do him another favor. EJ then reveals that Nicole doesn’t want to know the sex of the baby, but he does. EJ says when it comes to decorating the nursery, it would be nice to know what colors to use. EJ asks if the doctor could let him know when she knows if it’s a boy or a girl. She responds that she’s sorry but Nicole is her patient, so she can’t give out any information without her permission. EJ understands and jokes that she can’t blame him for trying. EJ then declares that all that really matters is that he’s going to be the father of a healthy baby as Dr. Sorenson holds onto EJ’s DNA sample.

Stephanie opens her laptop at home and finds a note from Chad that he’s thinking about her. Stephanie grabs her phone to text him but Alex shows up at the door to return Chad’s robe. Stephanie thanks him and says she was about to get to work. Alex asks if Chad is home. Stephanie responds that he’s out. Alex calls that a bummer as he then walks inside.

Chad goes to see Theo at his room at the Salem Inn and says he wanted to come see him but was worried that he’d miss him. Theo responds that he was supposed to leave after Abe’s funeral, but he can’t now because Lani is missing. Chad questions what he means. Theo explains that Lani was due back at the prison last night but she’s disappeared and no one knows where she is.

Eli returns to Paulina’s and asks if there’s any news on Lani. Paulina responds that there’s nothing and that Rafe has been with Jada, searching all night. Paulina admits she’s worried as they both know Lani would never run and that she knew exactly when she was due back at prison. Eli agrees that Lani would never miss that deadline unless someone made her miss it.

Rafe, Jada, and US Marshal Sam Gerard go to the docks where they find Lani unconscious on the ground. Rafe goes to check on her and finds her pulse, but notes that it’s weak. Rafe tries asking if Lani can hear him but gets no response as he wonders what happened to her.

Marlena calls Whitley from her office but tells Kayla that she’s not answering and she doesn’t want to leave a message on such a delicate topic. Kayla feels bad about Whitley feeling guilty all these years over the death of her husband and her cats from carbon monoxide poison from a broken space heater. Marlena gets a call from John and asks if he and Steve had any luck finding Jerry Prentiss. Marlena is then shocked by his response.

Abe struggles to stay awake and calls out Paulina’s name while wondering why he’s always so tired. Whitley tells him not to worry as she brings in the space heater and remarks that she knows it’s summer but you can never be too warm. Whitley surrounds Abe with the stuffed animal cats and talks about when they got the cats. Whitley mentions when she found them on that terrible day. Abe questions what she’s talking about. Whitley brings up their wedding photo and how happy they look, saying she wants them to always be that happy so she’s going to make that happen now. Abe asks how. Whitley responds that everything has gone so wrong on the outside as everyone wants to take him away from her, but as long as they are here together inside then everything will be alright. Abe is not sure what she means. Whitley says he’ll know soon. Whitley notices that Marlena called her earlier and wonders what she wants.

Marlena tells John that if what he’s telling her is true, this is amazing. Marlena asks John to come home and says she loves him as they hang up. Marlena then informs Kayla that John and Steve found Jerry Prentiss, who insists that Abe is alive and revealed that he lied about seeing Abe at the docks or going in to the water. Marlena then adds that Whitley was paying Jerry to lie to the police and that Jerry said Whitley kidnapped Abe from the hospital and has been holding him captive all this time. Kayla asks if they have alerted the police. Marlena mentions that Steve left a message for Jada. Kayla feels they need to call Rafe and get somebody out there now. Marlena agrees and grabs her phone.

Eli and Paulina go over how the last time anyone saw Lani was in the park after the funeral but no one has seen her since and now the US Marshal is involved because Lani was overdue to be back in prison. Paulina worries that now Lani will never get that early release. Eli encourages that once Lani is found, she’ll tell them what happened. Eli adds that if Lani has her ankle monitor on, they will find her.

Jada calls for an ambulance to the docks. Rafe notes that Lani’s pulse is still there but she’s unresponsive. Rafe adds that there’s no blood or bruises, so he wonders what happened. Sam then finds the syringe nearby and asks if Lani has a history of drugs. Rafe assures that she doesn’t. Sam remarks that people can start in prison but Rafe insists that Lani would never. Rafe tries to get through to Lani as the ambulance arrives. Lani then wakes up and calls out for her dad.

Theo tells Chad that they were searching for Lani all night but there’s been no sign of her. Chad tells him that he’s sorry. Theo notes that Rafe sent him home to rest but he couldn’t. Theo mentions that he just called Claire, who wishes she could be there to help. Chad is sure Theo wishes he had Claire there to lean on, but he has him. Chad asks what he needs from him. Theo doesn’t know as none of this makes any sense and he’s really worried about Lani. Chad encourages that Rafe and Jada are hard working, experienced detectives who won’t stop until they find her. Theo thanks him and says he could use a distraction between Abe being gone and Lani being missing. Theo wants to take his mind off it all for a little while. Chad suggests a game of chess but Theo doesn’t think he could concentrate. Theo wants some good news and asks how Chad and Stephanie moving in together is going. Chad claims it’s been great with no issues at all. Theo points out that Chad wasn’t smiling when he said that, so he asks if things are really great. Chad says the apartment is really nice, good sized, and has a beautiful view. Theo wants to know how the living arrangement is going as he feels like there’s something Chad isn’t telling him. Chad admits that it was going great until Alex Kiriakis moved in right across the hall.

Alex tells Stephanie that he had the dry cleaner work on Chad’s robe. Stephanie says she’ll let Chad know. Alex brings up Stephanie working and asks if there’s anything she wants to bounce off him. Stephanie says she’s good and she really needs to get back to it. Alex says he’ll get out of her hair but first, he’ll give her one last chance to brainstorm. Stephanie doesn’t respond so Alex says he can take a hint. Stephanie questions if he can and brings up his intrusive behavior lately. Stephanie asks if he’s not aware of how obnoxious he’s being or if he’s trying to be a jerk.

Marlena calls Rafe but he doesn’t pick up. Kayla suggests Rafe and Jada are probably on their way to Whitley’s place now. Marlena exclaims that she can’t believe Abe is alive. Kayla gets paged about an incoming patient to the ER after a possible overdose. Marlena says she will call her with any news as Kayla exits the office. Marlena decides she can’t wait any longer and then exits her office.

Abe complains to Whitley that he feels so tired. Whitley responds that she just doesn’t want him to feel any pain. Abe remarks that he doesn’t how how he feels right now. Whitley argues that they love each other and that’s all that matters. Abe asks if she’s alright. Whitley says she’s just a little sad as she keeps thinking about the day she left him all alone and how careless she was and how she failed him. Whitley didn’t think she could bear it, but now God has given her a second chance to make sure he’s never alone. Whitley then turns on the broken space heater and declares they will always be together for all eternity. Whitley suggests watching Body and Soul then stops and decides they will just take a nap together. Abe begins to smell the carbon monoxide.

Eli tells Paulina that something doesn’t seem right since if Lani had her ankle monitor on, Rafe should’ve gotten a call with an update by now. Eli decides he needs to find out what’s going on and calls Rafe.

Rafe and Jada arrive at the hospital. Rafe tells Jada to go ahead and he’ll catch up as he stops to answer Eli’s call. Eli asks what’s going on with the search. Rafe apologizes for not being in touch and says things have been happening fast. Rafe reveals that he’s in the hospital where they just brought Lani in, so Eli needs to get there.

Kayla has Lani set up in a hospital bed as Jada enters the room and asks how she is. Kayla responds that her pulse is weak, her breathing is shallow, and her body temperature is extremely low. Kayla adds that the EMTs thought it was a possible overdose. Jada presents the syringe foudn at the scene and hopes Kayla can figure out a possible antidote.

Chad explains to Theo that Stephanie dated Alex before they got together and it was serious for him. Chad notes that Alex was always a player and never wanted to be exclusive until he met Stephanie. Theo points out that things obviously didn’t work out so he asks if Alex isn’t giving up easily. Chad explains that Stephanie broke up with Alex because of something he did and he apologized but by then, they were dating. Theo asks where that leaves Stephanie and Alex. Chad guesses they are friends but Alex is not okay with that and wants her back. Chad states that Alex had been cool until he moved in across the hall from them. Theo asks if it’s really been that bad. Chad informs him that it’s been two days and Alex has already showed up at their door half naked to use their shower and borrowed his robe without asking. Chad adds that Alex insisted on joining them for dinner until Stephanie finally had to give him the boot. Chad assures that he’s not threatened by Alex because Stephanie made her choice on who she wants to be with, but he doesn’t know if Alex is ever going to get the message.

Alex questions Stephanie thinking he’s a jerk. Stephanie responds that he knows damn well that he’s been acting like one. Stephanie complains that ever since Alex moved in, he’s treated their apartment like an extension of his own and treated himself to their food, their shower, and Chad’s robe. Alex claims he thought he was just being neighborly which Stephanie questions. Stephanie points out that just now, Alex pushed past her without being invited in, he ignored her saying no to brainstorming, and he’s still here which she questions being neighborly. Alex then admits he’s being a total jerk.

Jada tells Rafe about Kayla sending the syringe to the lab but worries about it being too late. Kayla then comes over to them so Rafe asks how Lani is and Jada asks if she found out what she was injected with. Kayla reveals the syringe was filled with a very powerful sedative, so they administered another drug to reverse the effects and she’s responding well. Rafe asks if Lani is out of the woods then. Kayla says she will keep her overnight to be sure but it’s looking good. Rafe asks if they can see her and mentions that Eli and Paulina are on their way. Kayla realizes they haven’t checked their messages. Rafe confirms they haven’t because they’ve been focused on Lani. Kayla then reveals that Abe is alive which shocks Rafe and Jada. Kayla informs them that Whitley is the one who took Abe from the hospital and he’s still at her place now, so Rafe and Jada rush out of the hospital.

The space heater continues leaking carbon monoxide as Marlena arrives at the door. Marlena knocks and calls out to Abe. Marlena then opens the door and heads inside, noting the smell. Whitley gets up and questions what she’s doing there. Marlena warns that the smell is toxic and they have to get out but Whitley declares that Abe is her husband and no one’s going anywhere.

Stephanie asks if Alex is really admitting to being a jerk or if he’s just telling her what she wants to hear. Alex claims it didn’t occur to him until she called him out on it but now he does see that he crossed the line. Stephanie asks what he thinks that’s about. Alex brings up seeing Marlena to work on his issues, get a handle on why he does what he does, and try to get better. Stephanie questions what Alex would say to why he continues to step over the line. Alex responds that he doesn’t know and admits maybe he’s jealous of what she and Chad have. Alex acknowledges that he had a chance with the girl of his dreams and he blew it, so he admits that part of him may have wanted to keep Stephanie and Chad from having what he wanted with her. Alex adds that if she didn’t call him out on it, he probably would’ve kept doing it because he’s not that aware. Stephanie argues that he wouldn’t keep doing it because she and Chad wouldn’t tolerate it. Stephanie can’t believe that someone as smart as Alex would continue doing this and not realize he was being a pest. Stephanie talks about how she wanted her and Alex to be friends and how they were in a good place, but it’s changing and not for the better. Alex complains that it wasn’t his intention to alienate her. Stephanie advises him to talk to Marlena because what he’s been doing needs to stop, otherwise they won’t just be ex-lovers but ex-friends too.

Chad apologizes to Theo as he asked for good news to distract him and he’s going on about Alex. Theo then gets a call from Kayla, who informs him that Rafe and Jada found Lani. Theo is relieved and asks if she’s okay. Kayla reveals that she’s in the hospital but she’s going to be fine. Theo calls that the best news ever. Kayla says there is more and asks him to come to the hospital so she can fill him in. Theo thanks her and says he’ll be on his way as they hang up. Theo informs Chad that they found Lani and she’s in the hospital but she’s okay. Theo says he needs to get there now so Chad decides he’ll give him a ride and they exit.

Eli and Paulina visit Lani in the hospital. Eli thought Rafe and Kayla would be there to give them an update. Lani wakes up and greets them. Eli says he’s never been more happy to see her. Paulina asks how she feels and if she should get the doctor. Lani responds that she’s okay. Eli asks what happened. Lani reveals that Nurse Whitley King drugged her which shocks Eli. Lani then declares that Whitley tried to kill her. Eli asks when. Paulina suggests the questions can wait but Lani says she has something to tell them. Paulina wants to hear all that she has to say but says now is not the time. Lani insists that it’s important. Eli agrees with Paulina that Lani needs to rest and says they will have Rafe fill them in. Paulina assures they will talk later when Lani is feeling better. Lani tells Paulina to listen to her as she reveals that Abe is alive. Kayla then enters the room. Paulina questions what she said. Lani repeats that she found Abe and he’s alive. Paulina asks if it’s the drugs talking and she’s confused but Kayla confirms that Lani is telling the truth.

Whitley yells at Marlena to get out but Marlena insists on getting the space heater turned off and some air flowing. Whitley grabs an umbrella and threatens Marlena to stay away from the heater. Marlena argues that the air is toxic. Whitley assures that she knows that. Marlena brings up Whitley coming to her for help before and she failed her, so she asks for a chance to help her now. Marlena goes over how Whitley was lost after her husband died and she came to her for help dealing with the pain she was feeling. Whitley cries that her husband died alone and this is her chance to fix it. Marlena argues that it was an accident. Whitley says they should’ve been together and this time they will be. Marlena insists it wasn’t her fault and was a terrible tragic accident. Whitley remembers coming to Marlena for help. Marlena asks her to let her help her now through the terrible pain. Marlena asks for Whitley to trust her. Jada and Rafe then burst in and Jada pulls her gun on Whitley.

Paulina questions Lani saying that Abe is alive. Eli brings up the witness saying he saw Abe fall in the river. Lani reveals that she talked to Jerry Prentiss and he admitted to lying. Kayla adds that Jerry admitted it to John and Steve as well after they tracked him down in LA. Paulina questions why. Lani explains that Whitley paid Jerry to fake Abe’s death. Paulina asks where Abe is so they can get to him. Kayla informs her that they think he’s in Whitley’s apartment so Rafe and Jada just left and hopefully they will find him to end this nightmare once and for all. Lani states that Whitley had Abe all this time, so she went straight to her apartment but she drugged her before she could get Abe out. Lani adds that Whitley has been sedating Abe and telling him that she’s Paulina. Paulina exclaims that her precious husband is alive.

Jada warns Whitley with her gun as Marlena joins Jada and Rafe. Whitley then grabs a lighter and threatens to blow them all up. Jada acknowledges that if she does it, the whole place will be a fireball. Jada argues that they came to rescue Abe, so they are not leaving without him. Whitley declares that she will not be alone and that she did all of this to be with her husband, so they will not take him away from her. Abe starts waking up and asks who these people are. Rafe asks Whitley to put the lighter down but she refuses and yells at them to get out. Marlena tells Whitley that she won’t leave her alone and will stay right with her, but Abe has family that are worried about him and he needs to go home. Whitley shouts that he is home here with her and she’s taking them all with her now. Whitley warns them to back up. Marlena pleads with Whitley to remember that she’s a nurse who helped people. Marlena promises to help her through this and asks her to give her the lighter. Whitley then hands over the lighter as she cries.

Alex tells Stephanie that he got the message loud and clear, so he will now get out of her hair for real this time. Stephanie stops him to ask why this is coming up now when she’s been with Chad for awhile and they’d been fine. Alex suggests maybe because he saw them move in together and take that next step which drives home to him that he will never have what they have. Stephanie states that he can be a lot sometimes, but despite his flaws, he’s a serious catch and one day he will meet someone who is perfect for him. Alex doesn’t know about all that and says all that’s important to him right now is having her friendship which he hopes he still does. Stephanie says he does but no more being a jerk. Stephanie then hugs Alex until Chad comes home and shoves Alex off, questioning what the hell he’s doing. Stephanie tells Chad it’s not what he thinks. Chad argues that he think Alex can’t take no for an answer, so he forced himself on her. Alex says that’s not what happened. Chad screams at him to shut up. Stephanie explains that she and Alex just had a very productive talk about boundaries. Chad questions what boundaries when Alex had his hands all over her. Stephanie clarifies that she hugged Alex because Alex understands now that he’s been a jerk and promised to stop. Alex tells Chad that Stephanie helped him realize that and he wanted to sincerely apologize to Chad too. Alex knows his actions and behavior has shown otherwise, but says he is rooting for them. Chad hopes that is true. Alex says he came to drop off his robe and he’s leaving now. Alex then thanks Stephanie for not telling him to get lost for good as he exits. Chad guesses he overreacted.

Paulina repeats that Abe is alive and hopes she’s not dreaming as she prays that he’s okay. Kayla knows it’s a lot to take in and offers to take her to the nurses station while they wait for word. Paulina insists that she won’t be able to sit until she sees Abe and knows he’s okay. Paulina decides they need to give Eli and Lani a moment alone. Paulina encourages Lani about going home to her babies soon. Paulina tells Eli to take care of Lani and calls her the hero. Paulina then exits with Kayla. Eli jokes about Lani being unable to wait for backup and having go straight to Whitley’s place. Lani asks about Abe. Eli assures that they are both safe.

Jada calls in to confirm that the location is secure and that they will be transporting the prisoner soon. Jada tells them to get the mental health team ready. Jada then tells Whitley that she’s going to be okay but first she has to read her rights as she arrests her.

Theo arrives at the hospital and sees Paulina, who hugs him and says she’s so glad he’s there. Theo asks where Lani is and if she’s alright which Paulina confirms. Paulina says Eli is with her now and she’s going to be just fine, but there’s more. Theo notes that Kayla said that on the phone and assk what they are talking about. Paulina calls it a miracle as Marlena then wheels Abe in to the hospital. Theo and Paulina rejoice as Abe regains consciousness and asks what’s going on here. Paulina declares that Abe has come home to them as she hugs him.

Steve goes to Los Angeles and calls Kayla. Kayla asks if he found Jerry Prentiss. Steve says not yet but after he and John missed him at the bus station, he took a gamble that Jerry might be heading to LA to resume his acting career. Kayla admits that sounds like a good bet. Steve says they will see as the bus from Chicago should arrive any minute. Kayla hopes he’ll be on it and that Steve will be able to ask him what he’s hiding about Abe. Kayla tells him to keep her posted and that she loves him as they hang up. John joins Steve with coffee as they talk about not sleeping on the flight. John declares that they will rest when they get justice for their buddy. Steve sees the bus arrive and tells John to keep his eyes peeled for Jerry.

Kate shows up at Paulina’s door and says she came to see how she’s doing. Paulina calls that very kind of her and invites her in. Kate knows yesterday was difficult for her but says she got through it. Kate tells Paulina that they are all here for her and whatever she needs. Paulina says she appreciates that but right now, she’s just worried about Lani. Kate asks if Lani went back to prison. Paulina reveals that she didn’t and she has no idea where her daughter is.

Whitley serves oatmeal for breakfast at her home where Abe remains sedated and she has Lani tied up.

Kate asks Paulina about Lani missing and says that doesn’t make any sense. Paulina agrees and can’t imagine what could’ve happened to her. Kate asks Paulina to walk her through it and goes over Lani wanting to stay in the park alone to gather her thoughts after the funeral. Paulina adds that Lani assured she’d be home in time for Rafe to take her back to prison, but she’s been missing the entire night. Kate assures that Lani wouldn’t run. Paulina adds that Lani doesn’t have a phone since she’s a prisoner. Paulina talks about Rafe, Jada, and Theo being out looking for Lani since Rafe didn’t want to involve the police or else they would have to report Lani missing. Paulina wonders how three people can search an entire town. Kate encourages Paulina to just give it time but Paulina points out that the prison already called looking for Lani and Rafe had to stall. Paulina hopes they get this solved before it does become a police matter.

Rafe goes to the police station and tells Jada that he just came to pick up a few things from his office. Rafe asks if there’s any word on the search for Lani. Jada says there’s nothing yet. Rafe gets a call from the US Marshal and says he’s been blowing up his phone ever since he didn’t return Lani to prison, so he doesn’t know how much longer he can stall them. Jada knows it must be tough not to be able to use the department’s resources. Rafe worries that if they make it official police business then the US Marshal will know what’s going on and Lani will be considered a fugitive. Rafe argues that there is no way that Lani would’ve run. Jada asks how he explains her going missing then. Rafe only has one explanation; that Lani is in serious trouble.

Whitley tells Abe a story about Lani coming to visit them and how she’s refusing to eat. Whitley tries to feed Lani but she knocks it away and shouts that she is not her mother.

Kayla goes to see Marlena in her office at the hospital. Kayla informs Marlena that Steve and John have gone to Los Angeles to try and intercept Jerry Prentiss at the bus station. Marlena hopes they succeed.

John and Steve wait at the bus station. Steve guesses they were wrong about Jerry heading to LA and that there won’t be much chance of finding him now. Jerry then appears in a hoodie and they spot him. Steve confronts him and John introduces themselves as two of Abe Carver’s best friends. Jerry asks what this is all about and how they found him. Steve brings up Jerry being in a big hurry to leave Salem. Jerry claims that he needed to get here for work. John argues that Jerry shot out of his window so they couldn’t question him about Abe. Jerry responds that he already told the police everything he knows. Steve says he didn’t tell them that he was hanging around Abe’s hospital room on the day he disappeared. Jerry insists that he wasn’t. John says that’s not what their eye witness said. Jerry questions what eye witness.

Marlena and Kayla talk about Whitley saying that she saw Jerry hanging around Abe’s hospital room on the day that he disappeared. Kayla explains that John and Steve looked over everything again, starting with Whitley’s statement. Kayla adds that Chanel stopped by and gave them new information that Whitley seemed very interested in Abe and maybe even obsessed. Marlena asks what that means. Kayla explains that Whitley worked on Abe’s campaign and was at the park when Abe and Paulina got married and then when Abe passed away, she went to Paulina’s apartment to give her condolences. Kayla adds that Steve got suspicious so he came to the hospital to talk to her and that’s when she brought up Jerry. Kayla then informs Marlena that Whitley then came to her to resign from the hospital which was surprising since she’s worked there for 15 years and always had glowing reviews. Marlena wonders why Whitley would leave. Kayla says that she said she wanted a fresh start and that Salem wasn’t the same since Abe died. Marlena acknowledges that’s true but finds it odd that Whitley would resign right around the time of Abe dying. Kayla thought so but notes that Whitley talked about Abe like they were friends, so maybe they were closer than they think. Marlena talks about never seeing Whitley at any event that Abe hosted and she’s never heard Abe mention her name. Kayla wonders if they should be worried. Marlena then reveals that she remembered that she treated Whitley as a patient.

Whitley talks to Lani as if she’s Paulina. Lani calls her insane. Lani complains about Whitley shooting Abe up with drugs to keep him catatonic and holding him prisoner while the rest of his family thinks he’s dead. Lani reveals that she talked to Jerry, who told her all about her plan. Lani calls Whitley a liar, a fake, and nothing like Paulina.

Paulina tells Kate that she can feel that Lani is in trouble as she would never run, so she wonders where Lani is. Kate points out that Lani just lost her father, so maybe the thought of going back to prison was too much and she wanted time to sort it out. Paulina says that Lani was heartbroken but never gave the slightest indication that she would be late. Kate says sometimes you can’t think straight with grief. Paulina argues that Lani knows better than anyone what missing that deadline would mean for her future and that Rafe vouched for her. Paulina declares that Lani isn’t making contact because she can’t. Kate argues that just because Lani hasn’t contacted doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong. Paulina says she stayed up all night trying to think of another scenario but she couldn’t.

Jada tells Rafe that if he thinks Lani is in trouble then maybe they should use the department’s help. Rafe still thinks there’s a reason that Lani is missing and he doesn’t want to add time to her sentence and keep her away from her kids. Jada decides they will just have to find her themselves then. Rafe thanks her for everything. Rafe tells Jada that he’s got it and that she can go home and rest. Jada jokes that he couldn’t tell her what to do as her boss so what makes him think he can as a civilian. Rafe says he doesn’t regret anything he’s done and that he would do it all over again. Jada jokes that after they find Lani, she’d love to do it again and again all the time. Sam Gerard from the US Marshals then enters the station and asks Rafe where Lani is. Jada introduces herself and offers him coffee. Sam argues that Rafe told the warden that he would have Lani back in her cell by lights out last night and he’s been trying to reach him ever since. Rafe apologizes and reveals that the acting mayor recently relieved him of his duties so things have been hectic. Sam argues that the terms of Lani’s release clearly state that she was to return to prison immediately following her father’s funeral and she’s now in violation of those terms, so he needs to turn her over now. Rafe responds that he’s afraid he can’t do that because he doesn’t know where she is.

Whitley argues that Lani is confused and instructs Abe to tell her who she is. Lani argues that Whitley is crazy. Whitley calls her very disrespectful.

Kate tells Paulina that she has the utmost faith in Rafe to find Lani. Paulina is surprised to hear her say that. Paulina knows Rafe is a good man and he cares about her and her family, so she doesn’t question his integrity but his detective skills. Paulina doesn’t understand how Kate can be so sure that Rafe is going to find her daughter, when he never found Kate’s son, Philip. Kate acknowledges that she is right that they never found Philip but reveals that she is absolutely certain that Philip is alive.

Jerry informs John and Steve that Whitley is a liar, so he’s not surprised that she tried to throw him under the bus. John threatens to throw him under a bus for real while Steve questions why Whitley would say she saw Jerry outside of Abe’s hospital room if she didn’t. Jerry informs them that Whitley is trying to throw suspicion off herself, pointing out that Whitley worked at the hospital and knew how to avoid the cameras. John questions if he’s going on record and saying that Whitley kidnapped Abe. Steve questions what possible motive she would have to do that. Jerry says he’d have to ask her and remarks that she’s freaking nuts. Steve questions if Jerry is saying that Whitley killed Abe too. Jerry then reveals that nobody killed Abe because Abe is alive, shocking John and Steve.

Marlena goes over her files where Whitley was one of her patients in the fall of 2021 and that’s why she’s just remembering it now, because that is when Marlena was possessed.

Whitley remarks that Lani has a bit of the Devil in her with fire in her eyes. Lani threatens Whitley and complains about her not being honest. Whitley prays for the strength to hold her temper and tongue as she instructs Abe to tell Lani who she is. Abe responds that he doesn’t know who anyone is anymore. Lani tells Abe who he is and that he is her father, her hero, and the finest man she’s ever known. Lani insists that she is his daughter and his family while Whitley is not her mother or his wife, but a crazy psychopath who kidnapped him. Whitley shouts that’s enough and warns Lani not to say another word to Abe or she will be so sorry.

Sam warns Rafe that lying to a federal agent is a felony, so he would arrest him right now but he has a prisoner to find. Rafe assures that he wants Lani found just as much as he does. Sam remarks that he hopes that’s true but brings up Lani being a friend of Rafe’s and how he could be doing a favor for a friend. Sam reminds Rafe that harboring a fugitive is also a felony. Rafe argues that Lani is not a fugitive as she’s missing and assures that she did not run. Rafe points out that Lani is a model prisoner and is up for parole in six months so she would never jeopardize that. Sam argues that she already has. Sam accuses Rafe of doing this deliberately and Jada of helping him. Sam declares that he’s now going to use the full force of his agents to apprehend the fugitive and return her to prison where she will remain for a very long time. Jada stops him and asks him to hear her out first. Jada explains that Lani used to be a cop and risked her to life to protect and serve. Sam argues that Lani is a convicted murderer. Jada argues that she killed a man who abused her mother and then turned herself in. Jada insists that Lani has a damn good reason for being missing. Rafe adds that they spent all night looking for Lani, not because they thought she fled but because they were worried that something horrible had happened. Jada pleads with Sam to help them find Lani before it’s too late. Sam agrees to make a call to track Lani using her ankle monitor and if he gets a location, they will head there together so that he can take her to prison.

Paulina questions how Kate can be so sure that Philip is alive if the police can’t find him. Kate then reveals that the police can’t find him because she hid him. Kate explains that after she found out that Philip faked his death to frame Brady for murder and why he did it, she realized that he needed serious help, so her and Victor had Philip sent to a private psychiatric facility in Europe. Paulina apologizes as she had no idea. Kate adds that she’s only telling her now so that she will understand that she does know what she’s going through. Kate relates to the pain she felt when she thought Philip was dead and she doesn’t want anyone to feel that way. Paulina worries that she has to face facts and worries about Lani. Kate encourages that Lani is strong and resilient, so she thinks she is fine. Paulina prays that Kate is right. Kate assures that she is because God never gives them too much to handle and Paulina has had more than enough heartbreak.

John questions Jerry saying that Abe is alive. Steve argues that Jerry told the police that he saw Abe fall in to the water. Jerry admits that he lied. John questions why the hell he would do something like that as Steve holds him back. Jerry reveals that Whitley hired him to fake Abe’s death and plant his hospital bracelet and blood at the docks. Jerry adds that Abe is fine but Whitley has had him at her home on some medication. Steve questions why he would sign on for something like that. Jerry explains that he thought it was an acting gig. Steve asks why he didn’t go to the police. Jerry informs him that Whitley said they would never take his word over her word and that he would end up in prison. Jerry is surprised that they didn’t already know all of this since he told Lani. John questions him talking to Lani. Jerry tells them that Lani came to his door and was asking questions about Abe. John asks if he told Lani that Whitley King was holding Abe hostage in her apartment. Jerry confirms that she ran over there to save him.

Lani yells at Whitley that she’s not Paulina and repeats that she is Whitley King, a nurse at the hospital.

Marlena informs Kayla that Whitley was one of the patients she treated while possessed so she shudders to think what she would’ve said to her. Kayla encourages that it wasn’t her so she can’t beat herself up for what she said or did during that time. Kayla looks over the file and comments on the horrible way that Whitley lost her husband; carbon monoxide poisoning from a broken space heater. Kayla notes that they had three cats that died too.

Lani continues telling Whitley that she needs help. Whitley argues that she is the one who helps people. Lani accuses her of kidnapping Abe. Whitley argues that she saved Abe from the man who attacked him and now he’s getting better. Abe goes over how Whitley keeps saying she is his wife but he doesn’t know who she is. Lani encourages that this will all be over soon and she’s going to take care of him. Whitley shouts that she’s the one who takes care of him. Lani explains that she used to be a police officer and has a lot of friends on the force, so if she lets her go, she will go to the station and explain everything that happened and she will make sure nothing bad happens to anyone but Whitley has to set them free. Whitley refuses to do so.

Kate tells Paulina that when Philip went missing, she went in to a deep denial and refused to accept that he was gone until that became impossible. Kate says all of the evidence continued to mount with the trail of blood and the bloody knife. Kate notes that the police couldn’t find his body and now she knows why, but when they found his prosthetic leg in the water, she had to accept that her son was dead until she found out that wasn’t true and he was alive. Paulina remarks that Philip’s case sounds a lot like what happened to Abe.

Lani tells Whitley that this has to end. Whitley disagrees and argues that no one knows she’s here. Lani warns her that the police, FBI, and US Marshals are all looking for her since she was supposed to be back in prison yesterday and she’s sure by now it’s a full fledged manhunt, so it’s only a matter of time before they find her. Whitley questions how they will find her. Lani then reveals that she’s wearing an ankle monitor that they can use to track her location. Whitley argues that everything was fine but Lani ruined everything. Whitley declares that she and Abe were building a beautiful life together until Lani showed up and ruined everything. Lani asks her to please let them go. Whitley refuses and tells her to shut up because she’s not listening to her anymore. Whitley then grabs her syringe.

Marlena and Kayla continue going over Whitley’s file. Marlena reads about Whitley’s notes of the day her husband died. Kayla notes that Whitley’s session with Marlena was the first time that she told anyone the full story and that she blamed herself for the death of her husband and her cats. Marlena and Kayla figure that the Devil toyed with her and made her suffer.

Jerry tells John and Steve that he’s told them everything he knows and if they have more questions, they can talk to Whitley. Jerry asks if he can go now but John says no because he has an aided a kidnapping. Steve decides he’s coming back to Salem with them and he will let Rafe know that he needs to get to Whitley’s right away. John reminds Steve that Rafe isn’t on the force anymore. Jada gets a call from Steve, but Sam announces that he got a location on Lani so he, Jada, and Rafe rush out of the police station.

Lani pleads with Whitley not to do this. Whitley says it will be so much easier if she just closes her eyes and drifts away. Lani asks if she’s going to kill her and what that will do to Abe. Whitley responds that she didn’t want to do this, but she’s left her no choice. Whitley then injects Lani with the syringe while Abe yells no.

Steve leaves a message for Jada. John says they can’t wait around to hear back. Steve says they have to get ahold of someone in Salem to let them know that Abe is alive and well.

Kate apologizes to Paulina as she just wanted to reassure her. Paulina knows she didn’t want to get her hopes up, but acknowledges the similarities between Philip’s case and Abe’s case. Paulina says Abe’s hospital bracelet and blood was found on the docks, so everyone assumed he fell in the water. Kate brings up the witness. Paulina points out that Abe’s body, like Philip’s, was never found. Paulina declares that it’s not a huge leap that if Philip could be alive, then Abe could be too.

Marlena and Kayla talk about Whitley never getting the help she needed. Marlena wonders if Abe’s death triggered Whitley’s guilt over her husband. Marlena doesn’t know if Whitley will take her call, but she thinks she needs to reach out and make sure she’s okay.

Whitley sits with Abe and remarks that Lani was right that they can’t go on like this. Whitley says they were so ready to start their new beautiful life together with happiness and love but it would be so difficult when everyone is out there looking for Abe and learning the truth about what she did. Whitley states that she’s not ready to give Abe up yet and she just can’t.

Rafe, Sam, and Jada go to the docks and find Lani unconscious on the ground.

Talia meets Jada at the Brady Pub and talks about being late because she was cleaning in the town square. Talia acknowledges that after everything she helped Colin do, she’s lucky to just walk away with community service. Talia notes that Jada is distracted and asks what’s wrong. Jada responds that she can’t stop thinking about Rafe and how being with her has cost him everything.

Rafe sits on the town square while on the phone with Paulina. Rafe encourages her to take a breath and says everything is going to be okay as they will find Lani. Rafe assures that he can stall the prison. Rafe adds that he doesn’t want to involve the police department right now and believes that he will find Lani before anybody ever realizes she was missing. Rafe tells Paulina that he’ll be in touch as they hang up. Johnny then approaches and greets Rafe.

Wendy is at home, on the phone with Tripp, who says he unfortunately has to cancel their reservation at the Bistro because the hospital is a madhouse like everyone decided to get sick on the same night. Tripp apologizes and says they’ll go to the Bistro another night this week. Wendy tells him it’s fine for him to go save lives and says she’ll see him when he gets back as they hang up. Wendy then turns around and finds a note that Li left for her, saying she was right that he needed to get over Gabi and that the matchmaker he hired said she found him a perfect match, so he has a date tonight.

Li and Melinda continue their date. Li admits that she was the last person he expected to meet here. Melinda states that she’s just a woman on date with a very attractive man that she’d like to get to know better despite their scratchy past. They look over the menu and both choose the salmon as their favorite. Melinda comments that it turns out they have a lot more in common.

EJ gives Nicole a foot massage in the living room of the DiMera Mansion. Nicole question why he let Dimitri move in. EJ clarifies that he didn’t and that Stefan made that decision unilaterally. EJ admits that he was infuriated at first but then realized it’s best to keep Dimitri close by, so they can keep an eye on him and hopefully convince him to vote his shares in the company. Nicole wishes him luck with that. EJ asks how Abe’s funeral was. Nicole calls it a lovely service but says after standing around with his friends and family, it finally started to feel real. EJ acknowledges that Abe was like a father figure to Nicole. Nicole then informs EJ that she has some news for him about their baby.

Sloan is on the phone, talking about how Eric has no idea that he could be the father of Nicole’s baby. Sloan goes home and enters her apartment while saying that Eric is completely in the dark but she’s surprised to then find Eric laying on the couch.

Johnny questions Rafe about the new mayor firing him which he confirms. Johnny hoped he was hearing wrong and questions if he’s on some sort of power trip. Johnny hopes that Rafe is at least going to fight it. Rafe asks what he can do since he violated department policy. Johnny asks if he and Jada are serious. Rafe calls it new and says they care about each other. Johnny says he’s happy to hear that even though losing his job sucks as he’s glad that he found someone since he knows his divorce from Nicole was tough. Rafe confirms it was but adds that they were never meant to be and everyone else saw that and knew that Nicole was going back to Eric. Johnny then says now Nicole is back with EJ and they’re having a baby which shocks Rafe, who questions Nicole being pregnant.

Nicole informs EJ that she talked to her doctor earlier and reveals that she said at their appointment tomorrow, they can find out the gender of their baby if EJ wants to.

Sloan finishes her call and tells Eric that she didn’t know he’d be there. Eric explains that she wasn’t there so he let himself in. Sloan asks about Abe’s funeral as she’s sure it was terribly sad. Eric confirms it was and then question who she was on the phone with and what exactly he’s in the dark about.

Wendy sits at home watching TV with a clay mask on when Tripp comes home and surprises her. Wendy didn’t think he’d be home and jokes about not wanting him to see her like this. Tripp says he likes it as Wendy jokes that it’s the look of a woman who got stood up by her super busy doctor boyfriend. Tripp informs her that he got someone to cover his shift, so they can still hit up the Bistro after all. Wendy says she was super busy at work as well, so she was hoping they could stay in if that’s okay with him. Tripp says that’s totally fine. Wendy points out that they also have the whole place to themselves because Li is on a date.

Melinda informs Li that her favorite movie is Casablanca. Li responds that his favorite is The Godfather trilogy along with Citizen Kane. Li mentions recently seeing Nope. Melinda acknowledges that he’s a movie buff. Li confirms it is one of his passions. They agree that their salmon is perfect. Melinda notes that she hasn’t really hit it off like this with someone in a long time and she hasn’t really been dating much since her divorce. Li didn’t know she was married. Melinda confirms that she was married to an abusive son of a bitch. Li says he’s sorry to hear that. Melinda states that she broke free before things got too ugly and guesses that’s why she had a soft spot for Talia, because Colin had a sick hold on her and convinced her to do horrendous things to settle his scores. Melinda is thankful that Talia broke free and hopes she makes the most of her second chance.

Talia hopes Jada is not blaming herself for Rafe losing his job since it seems like the acting mayor is totally tripping. Jada acknowledges that she and Rafe still broke the rules even though their relationship is consensual, Rafe is still her boss. Jada calls Rafe an amazing guy who is sweet, kind, and funny. Talia says if she’s this crazy about him then it might be worth him getting fired.

Rafe is shocked to learn that Nicole is pregnant. Johnny is sorry as he thought Rafe already knew. Rafe says he didn’t and didn’t think it was even possible for Nicole to carry a baby to term. Johnny confirms it’s a high risk pregnancy but notes that EJ flew in an expert to oversee the pregnancy. Rafe says he’s happy for Nicole and EJ as he’s sure EJ is thrilled. Johnny confirms that EJ is now that he knows he is the father, which Rafe questions. Johnny tells Rafe to just forget he even said that but Rafe says he has to tell him now. Johnny tells Rafe that he can’t go spreading this around. Rafe asks who he would even tell. Johnny then explains that before they got the DNA test done, there was a chance that the baby was Eric’s which Rafe laughs at.

Eric asks Sloan again how he is in the dark. Sloan claims that she was on the phone with Colin, who is in jail and starting his trial tomorrow. Eric asks what that has to do with him. Sloan says it doesn’t directly, but Colin was asking about them and how things are going. Sloan then admits that she’s been keeping something from Eric.

EJ asks Nicole if she wants to find out the gender of the baby. Nicole says she doesn’t know and asks if he does but EJ says he doesn’t know either. They joke about wanting the other to answer first. EJ suggests they both answer at the same time. Nicole thinks that seems kind of silly but agrees to it. On the count of 3, EJ says yes but Nicole says no. EJ questions her not wanting to know the sex of their baby which Nicole confirms. Nicole explains that she doesn’t want to tempt fate because finding out the gender is when it starts to feel real and she’d start to wonder what the baby will look like or what the name will be. EJ asks if that’s a bad thing. Nicole doesn’t want to risk getting disappointed, asking what if she loses the baby.

Eric tells Sloan no more dancing around and questions what she is keeping from him. Sloan then reveals that she’s late. Eric is surprised and asks if she’s saying she might be pregnant.

Rafe tells Johnny that he shouldn’t be surprised since Nicole went straight from their disaster of a marriage into a paternity mess with her two ex husbands. Johnny admits it was messy while Rafe calls it par for the course. They then agree that they are not ones to talk. Rafe declares that while he hates that it cost him his job, he is relieved to be in a drama free relationship with Jada. Johnny responds that a drama free relationship sounds really nice. Rafe asks if he’s stilll seeing Wendy but Johnny says that’s over. Rafe is sorry to hear that. Johnny states that it just wasn’t meant to be and that Wendy is with Tripp now.

Wendy and Tripp lay on the couch together, watching Body and Soul. Tripp jokes about her choice of snacks and then they kiss. Tripp tells Wendy how happy he is that she chose him to be her boyfriend. Wendy responds with how sorry she is that she put him through that dumb competition. Tripp says it’s okay as it was worth it. Wendy remarks that it wasn’t for Johnny. Tripp hopes Wendy doesn’t feel bad for Johnny and says he’ll probably be back with Chanel or with a new girl by the end of the week. Wendy acknowledges that Johnny will be fine in the romance department but admits that she’s worried about Li as she really hopes he’s enjoying himself on his date.

Li asks Melinda what she thinks most people in Salem would say about her. Melinda asks what he thinks they would say. Li guesses they’d say she is ruthless and a little scary, but he’s seeing a different side of her. Li admires what she did for Talia. Melinda thanks him for saying that and admits she’s seeing a different side of him as well. Melinda adds that she may have been a little harsh with him before as he may have broken the law and she doesn’t condone all he did to keep Gabi in his life, but he knows that Gabi gives as good as she gets. Melinda declares that Gabi and Stefan used them both and in the end, left them in the dust and toyed with their emotions. Melinda remarks that it’s no wonder Li wanted them dead. Li insists to not know what she’s talking about and repeats that he had nothing to do with the attempt on Stefan’s life. Melinda tells him that he’s not in the interrogation room, but enjoying a nice dinner and a few drinks with his new friend. Melinda tells Li that she likes him and she thinks something is happening here, so she just needs them to be honest with each other. Melinda promises it will go no further than this table. Melinda asks if Li is the one who brought Dr. Rolf back to Salem to brainwash Harris Michaels and if he was behind the assassination attempt.

Rafe suggest he and Johnny play a game of sad guy poker where they trade off what they are sad about. Rafe starts by saying he lost his job. Johnny responds that he lost his girlfriend. Rafe brings up his ex-wife having a baby with a guy he can’t stand. Johnny says the girl he was nuts about chose a nerdy doctor over him and his last ex left him for his sister while he doesn’t have a hot detective to fall back on. Johnny jokes that he thinks he just won there and Rafe agrees that he just left him in the dust there because he does have a hot detective in his life, so he has no complaints. Rafe and Johnny agree that they are both catches. Rafe jokes that Jada better lock him down and bets that there is a girl out there that’s going to swipe right on him. Rafe mentions that he has to go meet Jada at the Brady Pub and invites Johnny to join him for a beer. Johnny asks if he’s sure he can afford it. Rafe jokes that Johnny can buy the beers then. Johnny agrees to and says he misses hanging out with him like this as they then head to the Pub.

Wendy asks Tripp what is wrong with her when she’s with him and she’s worrying about her brother. Tripp understands that Li’s life has been off the rails for awhile and she’s worried about him. Wendy feels she’s worried more than she should be since Li is a grown ass man and she’s ashamed of some of the things he’s done lately. Tripp understands that Li is her family and she loves him which Wendy admits. Tripp says if Li was set up by a matchmaker, it should be a pretty decent match for him. Wendy hopes so and then decides that’s enough talk about her brother for one night as he can handle himself. Wendy says that leaves her to take care of Tripp as they kiss. Tripp asks if they should take this to the bedroom.

Melinda tells Li that she’s really not judging and she just wants them to be open with each other. Melinda asks again if Li sent Harris Michaels after Stefan. Li hesitates, then grabs Melinda’s purse and finds that her phone inside was recording them which he questions. Melinda tries to claim she doesn’t know how that happened and that it must have been left on from work. Li complains that he was actually having a good time and questions if she pressured the matchmaker to put them together. Melinda says he has this all wrong. Li calls Melinda a terrible liar, especially for someone who gets paid to lie her ass off. Li tells her to enjoy her salmon and storms out of the bar. Melinda yells at those nearby to mind their business.

Sloan confirms to Eric that it’s possible that she’s pregnant. Eric asks how long she has known. Sloan points out that she doesn’t know for sure and has only been a couple days late. Sloan suggests waiting a couple more days to see what happens. Eric offers to run to the pharmacy and get a pregnancy test, then rushes out of the apartment.

EJ assures Nicole that the doctor he brought in is confident that she can carry the baby to term. Nicole worries about having so many issues. EJ knows there’s no guarantees but calls that reason to enjoy every moment along the way. EJ suggests finding out the gender could be reason for celebration. Nicole jokes that EJ will want a son to be the DiMera descendant. EJ talks about loving his daughter Sydney and already having a son in Johnny. EJ points out that it’s the 21st century and he’s just as evolved as she is so he’s a passionate proponent of gender equality. EJ assures that he would be absolutely thrilled if their baby was a girl as they kiss.

Talia asks Jada if two cops like her and Rafe wear their uniforms in bed together. Jada says her sex life is none of her business. Talia complains that her own personal life is a mess, so she’s living vicariously through her and she won’t stop until she spills. Jada then tells Talia that making love to Rafe is the bomb, right as Rafe and Johnny enter the Pub and hear them. Rafe asks to talk to Jada so they step aside. Jada says she’s super mortified now and explains that Talia was being nosy and annoying, so she just said that to shut her up. Rafe questions her not meaning what she said. Jada assures that she did but she’s usually quiet about her private life but Talia was talking about living vicariously through her because of her love life. Rafe says it’s okay and asks who doesn’t like positive feedback. Johnny sits with Talia, who asks how he knows Rafe. Johnny explains that Rafe is his ex-stepdad as he was married to his mom for awhile. Talia calls it a small world. Johnny agrees, pointing out that Talia’s sister is dating his ex-stepdad while Talia pretended to be interested in his ex-wife. Rafe jokes with Jada about getting a review like that almost makes losing his job worth it. Jada calls that really sweet of him but she’s really sorry about what Clint did to him and notes that because of being with her, his career could be over. Rafe and Jada agree that they have no regrets and they kiss. Jada then asks if there was anything else he wanted to talk to her about. Rafe responds that he does need her help.

Wendy and Tripp kiss until Li comes home, surprising them. Li apologizes for not texting and says he can go but Wendy tells him it’s fine as he lives there too. Tripp asks how Li’s date was. Li guesses Wendy told Tripp about him being setup by a matchmaker. Wendy questions if she wasn’t supposed to. Li calls it just one more person knowing about his romantic failures. Wendy guesses it didn’t go well. Li calls it a complete disaster.

Melinda finishes the bottle of wine and then orders a whiskey, lamenting to the waiter that her companion is not coming back tonight or ever.

Nicole tells EJ that she’s glad to hear him say that but the most important thing is that their baby is healthy which EJ agrees with. EJ adds that their baby is going to be so lucky to have Nicole as their mother. Nicole says the same about having EJ as their dad as they continue kissing.

Eric returns to Sloan with a pregnancy test. Sloan calls it crazy since she’s probably not pregnant as she was only late by a couple days and that’s not unusual for her. Eric decides there’s only one way to find out so Sloan goes to take the pregnancy test.

Talia tells Johnny that they can do this and get it over with. Talia is sure that Johnny hates her guts after everything she did to Chanel. Johnny responds that he doesn’t know her enough to hate her, but he does know that she hurt someone he cares about very much and he’s not okay with that. Talia doesn’t expect him to be and says for what it’s worth, she feels awful about helping Colin get to Chanel and her family, so she will do whatever it takes to make it up to them. Johnny asks if she means that. Talia responds that he’s not the only one who cares about Chanel and she doesn’t ever want to hurt her again. Johnny says that’s good and warns that if she does, she will have him to deal with.

Rafe tells Jada about having no idea where Lani is and he has to find her in time but he can’t get the Salem Police department involved because he told Eli when he left that he would look out for Lani and he feels he already let Abe’s family down once. Rafe declares that he cannot be the reason that Lani gets more time added onto her sentence. Rafe knows it’s a big ask and that Clint is already gunning for her because of him but he needs a good detective to help him find Lani before it’s too late. Jada agrees to do it.

Melinda drinks her whiskey and looks back at the Lost Love wine label which causes her to flash back to the beginning of her and Li’s date. Melinda declares that she really screwed this one up.

Wendy tells Li that she’s sorry to hear it didn’t go well and asks if he wants to talk about it. Li says maybe tomorrow and goes to his room. Tripp says it sounds like it went epically wrong. Wendy says she feels so bad for Li, but they shouldn’t let that ruin their night. Tripp agrees but says he wants their first time together to be special with no talk of ex-boyfriends or broken hearted brothers and no distractions. Wendy agrees that their first time should only be about them as they kiss and lay back on the couch together.

EJ tells Nicole how grateful he is to be having a child with her. EJ declares that being this baby’s father means the world to him and he knows she’s protecting herself, but he hopes soon she will be able to allow herself to feel like this baby is a reality. EJ states that they are going to be parents together and hugs her.

Sloan and Eric wait for the pregnancy test results which reveals that she is pregnant. Sloan announces they are having a baby and they kiss.

Justin and Bonnie return home to the Kiriakis Mansion as Bonnie complains about how close that was because she got flustered and wonders how many more times she can run in to Xander before she tells him the truth. Bonnie talked about trying to avoid him in the town square. Justin points out that she managed not to tell Xander about Sarah being pregnant with his baby. Bonnie worries that Xander knows something is up. Bonnie remarks that at least she said something while Justin stood there quiet. Justin responds that he has learned the best way to keep a secret is to keep your mouth closed. Maggie then walks in and asks what secret.

Chloe finishes a call with Belle as Xander comes home and they kiss. Xander mentions running in to Bonnie and how she was acting weird again. Chloe notes that Bonnie and Justin seem really uncomfortable around Xander lately and she doesn’t get it. Xander then presents Chloe with what he calls an anniversary present.

Stefan and Gabi go to their bedroom where Stefan says he knows their anniversary is not until next week but he got her an early gift. Stefan reveals that he and EJ finally took her advice and brokered a truce which Gabi calls a great gift. Stefan adds that they were going to kick Dimitri out of the house but Kristen stopped them. Gabi questions what’s great about that. Stefan responds that for once, Kristen was right that it’s best to keep Dimitri here where they can keep their eyes on him. Stefan relates it to keeping friends close and enemies closer. Gabi then responds that she just came from getting up close and personal with one of their enemies.

Li goes to the bar to meet his date and talks on the phone with his matchmaker about how he’s supposed to know what she looks like. Li thanks the matchmaker and says he’ll be on the lookout for a woman in a blue dress with dark hair as he hangs up. Li then sees that his date is Melinda Trask and says you’ve got to be kidding me. Melinda questions what the hell Li is doing here. Li argues that she doesn’t understand. Melinda asks Li to go to another bar because she’s meeting someone and doesn’t want them to see her with someone on Salem’s most wanted list. Li then reveals that the person she’s meeting is him.

Chad puts the kids to sleep in their new apartment then rejoins Stephanie in the living room. Chad praises Stephanie for the work she did in setting up the kids’ room. Stephanie says she wants them to be happy here. Chad assures that they are and he is too. Stephanie thanks Chad for getting her flowers. Chad says they’ve been so busy moving that they haven’t had a whole lot of time for romance as they kiss. Stephanie says she had the same thought. They are interrupted by the doorbell ringing. Stephanie says that she ordered dinner and suggests Chad pour some wine. Stephanie then answers the door to see a shirtless Alex. Chad questions if this is what it’s going to be like living across the hall from him and asks if he’s ever heard of a shirt. Alex asks if that’s any way to talk to his new neighbor. Alex asks if they have hot water because he doesn’t. Chad tells him to go back to his apartment and call it in. Alex complains that he did but he can’t get a plumber out until tomorrow morning. Chad thanks him for the update and says they were just about to have dinner. Alex says he’ll get out of their way then. Alex then stops and asks if he can grab a quick shower.

Chloe opens Xander’s box and it’s a new large dartboard. Xander explains that it’s an upgrade from their old one which he claims was throwing off his game. Chloe comments that it sounds like he wants a rematch. Xander tells her that the anniversary is that it’s been 3 months since she buried a dart close to his heart. Chloe says she’s really sorry about that. Xander says he’s not because it was like cupid’s arrow as he fancied her from that moment on as they kiss.

Bonnie tells Justin to tell Maggie. Justin claims he was just speaking hypothetically. Bonnie claims they were just talking about the weather and dinner. Maggie questions that leading to advice on how to keep a secret. Bonnie jokes that Justin is always helping her with her big mouth. Maggie thinks they are keeping something from her and says she has a good idea of what it is. Maggie guesses that it’s a family matter. Bonnie questions who told her. Maggie reveals that he told her himself. Bonnie asks if she talked to Rex. Maggie asks what Rex has to do with this. Bonnie says nothing and it’s just that Rex is in Chicago with Sarah. Maggie guesses what they are keeping from her has something to do with Sarah. Bonnie asks why they would know a secret about Sarah. Maggie says that’s what she’s trying to figure out. Bonnie insists that it’s not about Sarah. Maggie points out that Justin’s only said one sentence since she walked in, so she feels like he’s giving her the silent treatment. Justin questions why he would do that. Maggie says she doesn’t know but meant before that she heard from Alex, so now she’s guessing the secret is about Alex and that Bonnie is trying to cover for Justin. Maggie guesses that Justin must be furious with her because she is the reason that Alex moved out of the family home.

Chad tells Alex that they don’t want him to take a shower and suggests he go back to his own place and take a cold shower. Chad tells Alex to just go home. Alex complains that he and Brady have a meeting tomorrow with a very important client at 8 AM and he can’t afford to screw up another job. Stephanie tells Alex to be out in five minutes. Alex promises to be quick, thanks them, and heads to the shower. Stephanie tells Chad that she’s sorry but she didn’t want Alex to ruin his meeting. Chad questions Alex getting to ruin their evening instead.

Xander tells Chloe to order a pizza while he hangs the dartboard and they will play while they wait for the pizza to arrive. Xander jokes that this time, when it’s her turn, he will know to duck.

Stefan can’t believe Gabi went to talk to Li on her own and argues that they had talked about this. Gabi says it was just driving her crazy to let him get away. Stefan says they have proof of how dangerous Li is. Gabi explains that she gave Li a taste of his own medicine and says they talked but she was getting through to him, so Gabi then reveals that she pulled a gun on Li.

Melinda complains that this can’t be happening and can’t believe that she and Li hired the same matchmaker. Li says the feelings of repulsion are mutual. Melinda argues that she’s the district attorney so she can’t be seen having drinks with a man who is going to prison. Melinda declares that she’s going to make the matchmaker give her money back. Li argues that she’s just trying to make a living. Melinda questions how anyone could think they are a match and complains that they have nothing in common. Li says he wouldn’t go that far and points out that they were both collateral damage in the affair between Gabi and Stefan. Melinda reluctantly admits that he has a point. Li suggests she sit down since he ordered a very nice bottle of wine and they can drink to Stefan and Gabi and the misery they deserve. Melinda insists that they are not in the same boat as she sits down. Melinda admits she had a thing for Stefan at one point but Li has a psychopathic obsession with Gabi. Li argues that he loved her and still does, but he’s not a nutjob. Melinda brings up brainwashing Harris in to killing Stefan. Li says she can’t prove that. Li argues that Melinda wanted Stefan way more than she lets on. Li reminds Melinda that he walked in on her which Melinda insists was all staged for his benefit. Li calls it an idiotic idea because she’s a beautiful, intelligent woman and she let Stefan use her. Li tells her that has to hurt.

Stefan cannot believe Gabi did such a stupid thing and asks what if Li got the gun away from her or used it on her. Gabi insists that she wasn’t going to shoot Li and just wanted to scare him away from coming after Stefan again. Gabi says she can’t lose Stefan. Stefan asks what about him losing her and again asks what if Li got the gun away from her. Gabi argues that her brother is a cop, so she knows how to handle a gun. Stefan complains that she is so hellbent on stopping Li and Megan from coming after him that she keeps putting herself in danger. Stefan declares that it has to stop.

Chad tells Stephanie that Alex has been longer than five minutes. Stephanie says she knows and she’s sorry. Stephanie worries about their dinner getting cold. Chad says they should just go ahead and eat. Chad adds that when Alex comes out, he’s kicking him out and he needs her to back him up this time which Stephanie promises to do. Chad declares that they are still going to have their romantic evening. They kiss until Alex comes out of the shower in Chad’s robe which Chad complains about. Alex argues that Chad told him not to come around in just a towel. Alex then teases removing the robe then but Chad warns him that if he drops the robe, he’s dead.

Xander hangs the dartboard and kisses Chloe. Chloe jokes that she would hate for the dartboard to fall when she hits her first bullseye. Xander praises his hanging skills while Chloe jokes about taking advantage of his ego. They decide on a bet and Chloe says if she wins the game of darts, Xander must give her a shoulder massage. Xander responds that if he wins, she must give him a foot massage but Chloe says that’s too far and she does not touch feet. Xander asks if she’s not that confident then. Chloe decides she is and that’s her motivation so they begin to play darts.

Justin tells Maggie that he’s not giving her the silent treatment. Maggie knows he has to be disappointed that Alex moved out. Justin confirms that he liked having him there, but he’s not angry with her. Justin understands that Maggie and Alex are now working for competing companies, so it only makes sense that they live in separate places. Maggie brings up firing Alex while Justin points out that Alex turned down Maggie’s generous offer to rehire him. Justin mentions hearing that Alex has got himself a great new apartment. Maggie is glad to hear and says she doesn’t resent Alex staying at DiMera, noting that she hired Chad in his place and she’s very happy with that. Justin asks if they can consider the air cleared then which Maggie agrees with. Maggie adds that she’s still wondering why Bonnie brought up Rex and Sarah. Bonnie claim that she meant to say Alex when she said Rex and then it just got confusing. Maggie points out that they weren’t talking about Alex when she walked in, but about keeping a secret. Bonnie decides she can’t take this anymore. Justin tries to stop her but Bonnie insists and says Maggie is the perfect person to tell. Bonnie then reveals to Maggie that Sarah is the one keeping a big secret and she’s the one who happened to find out what it is. Justin asks if Bonnie really wants to do this. Maggie questions what Sarah is not telling her. Bonnie tells Justin that if Sarah was her daughter, she’d want to know. Bonnie starts to tell Maggie but stops herself and instead, says that Sarah is just seeing Rex again. Maggie questions how she knows. Bonnie explains that she went to see her granddaughter and that Sarah was there in Rex’s apartment. Maggie argues that it doesn’t mean they are together like that but Bonnie insists that a woman knows these things and points out that Sarah was not expecting her to see her there with Rex. Justin says that’s when Sarah made Bonnie promise not to tell anyone, including Maggie. Maggie questions why Sarah doesn’t want her to know. Bonnie suggests it’s because Maggie has a soft spot for Xander. Maggie responds that Sarah and Xander are divorced, so she questions what he has to do with this.

Xander and Chloe play darts. Xander points out that she only has one dart left and mocks her chances. Chloe tells him to stand back. Xander says he’s really going to enjoy her rubbing his feet. Chloe tells him to be quiet as she concentrates.

Gabi understands that Stefan is upset but argues that she had to face Li and make him understand that there will never be a chance of them getting back together. Stefan remarks that Li is never going to believe that no matter what because he’s obsessed. Gabi says not anymore because Wendy convinced him to move on. Gabi adds that Li even hired a matchmaker and she saw the profile on his laptop. Gabi says he swore that he had a date tonight, so maybe he will meet the woman of his dreams and they can finally move on with their lives.

Melinda tells Li that she doesn’t have to explain herself to him and threatens to end their date. Li asks why he’d want to be with a woman who wasn’t good enough for Stefan DiMera. Melinda warns him not to insult her when she could still up his charges to conspiracy to commit murder and for being an ass in the first degree. Melinda gets up to leave but sees the Lost Love bottle of wine that he ordered. Li asks if she knows it. Melinda confirms that she does and tells him to pour her a glass and she will tell him the story.

Alex remarks that he doesn’t see what the big deal is that he took Chad’s robe when Chad took his job at Titan. Stephanie calls that unfair. Alex promises to wash and return the robe tomorrow. Chad tells Alex to go ahead and keep the robe if he moves out of the building. Alex questions why he would move out when they have a gym and a pool. Chad argues that he took the apartment because it’s right across the hall from them and he knows that Alex is still hung up on Stephanie. Alex asks Stephanie to tell Chad that they are just friends now. Stephanie confirms that to be true. Alex argues that he moved out because he couldn’t live with Maggie anymore and it’s a coincidence that he landed across the hall. Alex knows he and Chad don’t like each other much but suggests they could be good neighbors. Chad complains that Alex is showing up half naked when his daughter is in the other room. Alex apologizes as he hadn’t even thought of that. Chad argues that Alex doesn’t think. Stephanie tells Chad that they have everything they want, so they can afford to be a little understanding. Stephanie asks Chad to let this go, so they can get back to their night together. Chad agrees and decides to welcome Alex to the building. Alex then sees their dinner and notes that it’s from his favorite restaurant. Alex takes a bite of one of their spring rolls and asks if they could let him stay for dinner.

Xander is shocked as Chloe hits a bullseye on the dartboard. Chloe tells him that she’s ready for that shoulder massage which Xander then gives. Xander jokes that maybe he doesn’t mind losing much after all as they start kissing and begin to undress.

Maggie argues that Xander is with Chloe now and he and Sarah split up months ago. Justin says it hasn’t been that long and they know Maggie was very supportive of their relationship, so it must be difficult to see them with different people. Maggie acknowledges that Rex has history with Sarah and wants her back, but he’s not her first choice for her daughter since he cheated on her and hurt her. Maggie suggests that’s why Sarah doesn’t want to tell her, because she’s forgiven him but she doesn’t know if she can. Bonnie compares it to Mimi not telling her that she was pregnant with Rex’s baby. Justin intervenes that kids grow up and make their own decisions. Maggie decides she will call Sarah after dinner and maybe she’ll open up to her. Maggie thanks Bonnie for telling her and says she wishes that Sarah had as she then exits the room. Bonnie tells Justin that it worked out okay while Justin decides he needs a drink.

Melinda explains to Li that the summer before law school, she had a few weeks off and decided to take a bike trip through Napa. Melinda adds that she didn’t know a thing about a wine, so she tried to become an expert. Melinda notes that she graduated law school first of her class but she had never done a trip like that before and she just felt so free. Melinda mentions that the last winery she stopped at was Lost Love Vineyards and they had just released a wine that she thought was the most exquisite wine she had ever tried. Melinda talks about pasting the wine labels in her journal but she forgot to take that one and she couldn’t remember the name of it, so she put it out of her mind and focused back on work until tonight, she saw the bottle and it all came back to her. Li asks if she felt that free feeling again. Melinda confirms that she did.

Stefan tells Gabi that he feels sorry for the woman who gets paired up with Li. Gabi hopes Li falls head over heels in love so they can stop worrying about him. Gabi decides she doesn’t want to talk about Li anymore as their anniversary is next week and they are finally getting married so it’s going to be one of the happiest days of her life. Stefan stops her and says he doesn’t know if that’s going to work for him. Gabi questions if he’s saying he doesn’t want to marry her. Stefan asks what if he decides to get reckless like she did and meets Megan in an alley with a gun, shows up at Dr. Rolf’s lab with a crossbow to attack him, or at one of Li’s blind dates with matches and gasoline. Gabi states that he made his point. Gabi promises to never go after any of their enemies again but Stefan doesn’t believe her because she’s always going to want to bring the fight to anyone who hurts them. Stefan asks her to just take him with her next time. Stefan says she’s not invincible and he doesn’t want to lose her any more than she wants to lose him.

Li gives Melinda the label from the wine bottle. Melinda says now she would just have to find her journal since she lost it. Li suggests she start another one which makes her laugh. Li suggests she smile more often. Melinda acknowledges that they do have something in common in that they both love this wine. Li invites her to stay for dinner and finish the bottle with him which she agrees to do.

Alex finishes dinner with Chad and Stephanie. Stephanie tells Alex that it’s time to go and wishes him luck with his meeting tomorrow. Alex thanks them for everything and exits. Stephanie tells Chad that she’s sorry about his robe. Chad asks who needs a robe when he gets to live with her as they kiss.

Xander and Chloe lay on the couch after having sex. Chloe says if someone would have told her three months ago that she’d be on the couch making love to him, she would say they are nuts. Xander comments that life is full of surprises. Chloe jokes that except when it comes to them playing darts since she always wins. Xander wants a rematch to save his dignity, so Chloe tells him to set it up again. The dartboard then falls off the wall which Xander blames on an earthquake while they were making love. Xander asks how they will pass the time until their pizza arrives now that they can’t play darts. Chloe is sure there’s some ideas as they start kissing again.

Bonnie calls Sarah so that she will have an explanation when Maggie calls. Bonnie hangs up and informs Justin that Sarah is going to back her up about her and Rex, but she still doesn’t want anyone to know that she’s pregnant with Xander’s baby. Justin questions Sarah still being determined to keep that secret. Bonnie still says that secrets have a way of coming out, especially when that secret is a baby.

EJ and Stefan have drinks at the bar. Stefan jokes about the drinks being poison free. EJ thinks they have moved past all that. Stefan questions if they have because he’s still confused as to why EJ invited him out for drinks. EJ explains that he thought they should talk about Megan disappearing after trying to have Stefan killed. Stefan asks EJ if he’s disappointed that she didn’t succeed. EJ responds that he’s actually the one who tried to stop her.

Li is at his apartment, on the phone, saying he hates that it’s come to this but he has no other option. Li says he will send the money right away and they better come through for him as he hangs up. Gabi then shows up at the door which Li calls a coincidence because he was just thinking about her.

Kristen tells Belle that all she’s asking for is shared custody of her daughter which she doesn’t think is unreasonable. Belle argues that Kristen kidnapped Rachel and suggests that Brady would be willing to negotiate if she gave her back. Kristen informs Belle that Brady took Rachel right before she arrived and he was not willing to negotiate. Belle asks if she did take Rachel then. Kristen claims she didn’t say that and that Rachel just showed up. Kristen adds that thank God she did because Brady was about to shoot her.

Brady questions Rachel calling the police. Jada informs him that they got the report about 20 minutes ago. Rachel reveals it was when he stopped to get gas. Brady asks why she would do that. Rachel shouts that Brady tried to kill her mom.

Gwen is in her room at the Salem Inn, finishing a zoom call as she praises her workers at the Spectator for the upcoming issue covering Rachel’s disappearance, Rafe getting fired, and Abe’s funeral. Gwen then picks up her phone and remarks that she’s surprised she hasn’t heard from Dimitri today, so she wonders what he’s up to…

Dimitri and Leo have sex in bed as Dimitri’s phone rings on the table nearby.

Gwen calls Dimitri and leaves a voicemail, telling him to call her when he gets the chance as she hopes they could meet up tonight. Gwen thinks they should start getting sorted if they are going to get married at the end of the month. Gwen adds that the more this sinks in, the more excited she gets. Gwen declares that she cannot wait to be his wife.

Dimitri and Leo lay in bed together, talking about what a workout that was. Leo suggests another round but Dimitri thinks he needs a timeout as he checks his phone and sees a missed call from Gwen. Leo says he hates deceiving Gwen like this. Dimitri asks what about what Leo wants. Leo admits he’s enjoying this but he’s betraying his best friend as Gwen has no idea that they are hooking up behind her back. Dimitri wants to find a way to get him over this guilt. Leo asks how to do that. Dimitri brings up how he needs to be married by the time he turns 40 to get his inheritance and there’s just not enough time to find someone else. Dimitri states that he sincerely likes Gwen and cares about her, so he does feel bad about deceiving her but right now he’s stuck. Dimitri remarks that at least now he’s stuck with Leo as they kiss.

Stefan questions EJ trying to stop Megan from killing him. EJ says that’s why she locked him up in the tunnels because he overheard her on the phone, plotting her brother’s demise. EJ admits that at first he thought she meant him but then she confessed that it was Stefan that was her target. EJ adds that Megan tried to rope him in on her plan, but when he refused, she knocked him out. Stefan admits he’s baffled because if EJ went along with Megan’s plan, he’d be free of him and running DiMera all on his own, so he questions why he didn’t.

Gabi questions Li thinking about her. Li says he heard about her terrible ordeal and how Dr. Rolf attacked her and handcuffed her to Megan’s hospital bed. Gabi swears that if she ever gets her hands on Dr. Rolf, she will strangle him. Li remarks that he would deserve that. Li questions what Gabi was doing visiting Megan alone. Gabi says that Li insisted that Megan hired Harris to kill Stefan, so she wanted to confront her face to face. Li feels she shouldn’t have gone alone. Gabi assures that she promised Stefan that from now on, they will do everything together and there’s no more going rogue. Gabi then declares that today, she’s making an exception as she pulls a gun on Li.

Belle doesn’t believe Kristen and says that Brady would never kill anyone. Kristen assures her that Brady pulled a gun on her and proudly proclaimed that he was going to murder her. Belle accuses her of lying, pointing out that Brady doesn’t even own a gun. Kristen tells her that it was John’s. Belle still doesn’t believe her, insisting that if Brady pulled a gun on her then she would be at the police station instead of begging for her help. Kristen argues that the police wouldn’t believe her as it’s her word against his. Kristen insists that she’s telling the God’s honest truth that Brady tried to murder her in cold blood and has gone completely over the edge. Belle says if that’s true, it’s because she pushed him over the edge. Kristen questions if that justifies trying to kill the mother of his child. Belle brings up how Kristen has made so many people miserable and the numerous times that she nearly killed people, so she feels zero sympathy for her. Belle still believes this is a sinister attempt to screw Brady over. Belle tells Kristen that she will not help her, so she’s on her own as she then storms out of the mansion.

Brady tells Jada that this is a complete misunderstanding. Rachel argues that she saw Brady with a gun and he said he was going to kill Kristen. Jada asks Brady again if what Rachel is saying is true. Brady responds that he went over to Kristen’s house and they had an argument because she kidnapped his daughter. Rachel argues that she didn’t. Brady tells her not to lie about this. Rachel says she’s not lying. Brady admits that he may have said something about killing Kristen in the heat of the moment but he didn’t mean it. Brady adds that he doesn’t even own a gun. Rachel then points out where Brady put the gun when he got home, allowing Jada to discover the gun. Jada asks Brady to find a babysitter for Rachel, so they can continue this conversation at the police station because there are questions that need to be answered.

Li questions what Gabi is doing and where she got a gun. Gabi responds that she can get a gun whenever she needs one and she definitely needed one. Gabi calls it insane that Melinda would let Li go after he tried to kill Stefan. Li argues that it was Megan and he thought she believed him. Gabi says she did but she also believes that Li was her partner in crime. Li insists he had nothing to do with it and that’s why Melinda let him go. Li adds that there’s no evidence. Gabi shouts that she doesn’t give a damn as she knows he was involved and she’s not going to sit around to wait for him to attack Stefan.

EJ acknowledges that he and Stefan have had their differences and he would like him out of the way at DiMera, but that’s a far cry from condoning his murder. EJ states that they are family and he is his brother, so he will always feel a deep connection to him which Stefan laughs at. EJ says he can mock him all he wants but brings up Stefano always instilling the importance of family loyalty. Stefan points out that he never got to meet the mighty Stefano DiMera. EJ thinks they would’ve gotten along well. EJ adds that Stefan reminds him a lot of Stefano and says that Stefan is even more like Stefano than he is. EJ brings up Stefan and Gabi proposing a truce before and now he sees they were right. EJ thinks it’s time they start working together. Stefan asks why since Megan is gone. EJ says she is for now, but he figures she’s already plotting her return. EJ adds that in the meantime, Megan left a fox in the hen house.

Dimitri walks Leo out of the DiMera Mansion. Dimitri reminds him to keep his mouth shut and then kisses him goodbye as Leo exits. Dimitri heads back inside to the living room and asks Kristen how her day is going so far. Kristen says it’s not as good as his which he questions. Kristen then asks Dimitri who he was just sneaking out of the house and if it was his new girlfriend or boyfriend.

Jada brings Brady to the interrogation room, where he explains how he tore up the custody agreement because Kristen pissed him off. Belle interrupts and reminds Brady that she told him not to say anything until she got there. Brady figured there was no point in waiting because Rachel already told Jada everything that went down. Brady states that he’s not going to lie because earlier today, he accused his own daughter of lying and he’s hated himself for it, so he’s going to be completely honest because that’s what’s best for everyone. Brady adds that the truth always has a way of coming out.

Dimitri questions Kristen. Kristen reveals to him that her daughter Rachel whispered a secret in her ear that yesterday, she saw he and Leo in bed together. Dimitri says he can explain but Kristen says she’s figured it all out on her own. Kristen recalls catching Leo snooping around trying to find out why Dimitri was marrying Gwen. Kristen says she threw Leo out but guesses he must’ve doubled back and found Dimitri’s papers about the inheritance, then before he could blow the whistle, Dimitri let him blow the whistle. Dimitri calls that a colorful way of putting it but admits he had no choice but to keep Leo quiet, so he took one for the team. Dimitri acknowledges that it’s demeaning to go to such lengths, so he trusts Kristen will keep this between them. Kristen says of course as she has a vested interest in him receiving his inheritance. Kristen asks how else she will get her cut of the Von Leuschner fortune.

Leo returns home to Gwen in their room at the Salem Inn. Gwen says she was wondering where he was as he missed the Spectator meeting. Leo says it totally slipped his mind. Gwen points out that he’s been missing all day and asks what he’s been up to. Leo claims that he’s been working on his new column on cuddling which Gwen questions. Gwen brings up that Leo barely said a word to her last night and was gone before she woke up today which never happens, so she feels like he is avoiding her. Leo says she is his best friend and asks why he would be avoiding her. Gwen says because of Dimitri, pointing out that ever since she accepted his proposal, he’s been distant. Leo insists that he’s just been working and isn’t avoiding her. Gwen supposes she’s just being paranoid since she hasn’t heard from Dimitri today even though they just got engaged. Gwen asks Leo if she’s made a terrible mistake. Leo tells her that he has a confession to make. Leo then informs Gwen that she hasn’t heard from Dimitri because he’s been with him.

Stefan questions EJ not trusting Dimitri. EJ asks why they would when they both know he and Megan are thick as thieves, so it wouldn’t surprise him if Dimitri agreed to carry on with Megan’s plan. Stefan realizes EJ thinks they are still in danger. EJ says that’s why cooler heads need to prevail and they need to put aside their differences to deal with their nephew. Stefan asks how he knows this isn’t a chess move to get him to let his guard down. EJ says he’ll just have to trust him but Stefan remains unsure. EJ insists on the truce and suggests they shake hands on it. Stefan agrees and they shake hands. EJ says now they can figure out together how to deal with Dimitri. Stefan thinks he knows exactly where to start.

Li tells Gabi to put the gun down and argues that she doesn’t have it in her to shoot him. Gabi warns that he’s not the first ex-husband she has shot and says he and Nick Fallon can compare notes in Hell. Li warns that Gabi would end up back in prison. Gabi argues that he left her no choice by attacking Stefan at their engagement party and asks who says he won’t do it at their wedding. Li gives his word that he won’t. Gabi calls that meaningless. Li argues that she loved him once and reminds him of the good times they had. Gabi calls him a sick bastard and says she loves Stefan with all her heart. Gabi calls Stefan the love of her life and declares that she will do anything to protect him. Li repeats that he’s not going to go after Stefan and he gets that they are over now after Wendy came to see him at the police station. Li says that Wendy made him see some hard truths including that he shouldn’t throw his life away over Gabi. Li declares that he’s decided to move on with his life and stop pining over her. Li informs her that he even hired a matchmaker and shows her his laptop where he even made a profile. Gabi looks over it and mocks some of the details he included. Li swears that he has come to his senses that she doesn’t love him and never will, so he’s not going to come between her and Stefan.

Dimitri questions Kristen expecting him to hand over a portion of his inheritance to her. Kristen states that guarding his secret comes at a great cost because Gwen is her friend and now she has to lie to her. Dimitri mocks that being hard for her. Kristen complains about being separated from her daughter and says if she wants any hope of getting custody of her, she’s going to need all the power and money that she can get. Dimitri asks how much money she will need. Kristen figures since Megan has gone missing, she can get her piece of the pie. Dimitri doesn’t think Megan would be too keen on that. Kristen argues that Megan shouldn’t have tried to kill Stefan or drugged her and EJ then. Kristen asks if Dimitri was in on that. Dimitri says absolutely not. Kristen says she’ll be happy to enjoy Megan’s money for her and asks Dimitri if they have a deal. EJ and Stefan then walk in and interrupt. Stefan tells Dimitri that he and EJ were just talking about how nice it’s been to get to know him and how they hope he stays in touch. Dimitri asks if they are going somewhere. EJ responds that he is and orders Dimitri to pack his bags and get the hell out of the house.

Gwen questions Leo saying he was with Dimitri. Leo reminds her of how he said he was going to snoop around the DiMera Mansion to see if he could find anything to arrest Dimitri. Gwen complains about how Leo wouldn’t shut up about believing Dimitri had an ulterior motive which is why she was relieved when Leo didn’t say any more about it last night so she assumes he didn’t find anything. Leo claims that’s right but admits that Dimitri caught him in his room before he left and says then they went at it real hard back and forth like animals in the wild. Gwen asks if he means it got physical. Leo confirms it was real rough but there were no broken bones. Gwen asks if they made up and if he’s okay. Leo says he thinks so. Leo then tells Gwen that Dimitri convinced him how much marrying her means to him. Leo adds that he had his reservations because he’s so protective of her but he’s decided to give their marriage his full blessing.

Brady tells Jada that he told Kristen to stop with the games and then he said, out of anger, panic, and frustration, that maybe he should kill her. Belle states that Brady knows he did a stupid thing but it was out fear and desperation because he believed that Kristen was going to run off with his daughter and he’d never see her again. Jada says that doesn’t give Brady the right to threaten murder with a gun that he stole from his father. Belle insists that Brady knows what he did was wrong and that’s why he is here, coming clean. Belle adds that Brady is not a violent criminal, just a dad who loves his daughter. Brady admits he’s mortified by his behavior and agrees that what he did was driven by the fact that he thought he was going to lose his daughter. Brady says that out of panic and frustration, he profoundly regrets it. Belle asks Jada if they will let this go, but Melinda Trask walks in and says absolutely not.

Gabi tells Li that she’s heard all of this before. Gabi reminds Li that when he signed the divorce papers, he made it sound like he was taking the high road and she even thought they could be friends but then he had to go and plot the murder of Stefan. Li says he’s not saying he had anything to do with that but admits he wasn’t quite as ready to let her go as he thought. Li says he wanted to do the right thing and let her go and for her to be happy, but in hindsight, he was a heartbroken, miserable wreck. Li says he was overwhelmed and couldn’t recognize himself anymore. Gabi questions him justifying this. Li insists that he’s in a much better place as the misery started to let up a little. Li adds that if she lets him live, he is supposed to go on a date this evening and then he will move on from Gabi. Li finally believes that is possible and says he’s come to grips with reality. Gabi agrees to let Li live and go on his date, but warns that she still doesn’t trust him so if he ever comes after her or her husband again, she will pump him so full of lead that they won’t be able to identify his corpse. Gabi then sarcastically wishes him luck tonight as she exits.

Melinda argues that Brady threatened someone while brandishing a loaded firearm which is a felony offense. Belle argues that it was in the heat of the moment as Kristen had kidnapped Brady’s daughter. Melinda points out that’s not what Rachel said. Belle argues that she’s a child trying to protect her mother. Belle calls it just a messy family dispute that got blown out of proportion and can all be resolved without the police. Melinda disagrees and tells Jada to wrap this up because she has dinner plans. Melinda orders Jada to take Brady down for booking and then get a statement from Kristen who will have plenty to say. Melinda then exits the interrogation room.

Kristen questions EJ and Stefan being in agreement for once. Stefan explains that they called a truce in the face of a common enemy. Dimitri says he understands if they means Megan, but insists that he had no prior knowledge of her schemes. Stefan asks why they should believe that. Dimitri claims that he’s telling the truth that he would never condone violence towards his own family. EJ responds that they simply don’t trust him and that he and Megan could still be in cahoots for all they know. EJ again suggests Dimitri get his suitcase and start packing. Kristen thinks they are being unfair to Dimitri by assuming he’s guilty by association. Kristen reminds them that Dimitri has DiMera shares too and asks if they really want to alienate part of the voting. EJ thinks that’s a moot point now that he and Stefan are working together. Kristen asks if he’s sure about that as she can be very persuasive when she wants something very badly. Kristen threatens to talk to Li Shin and Steven Hawk. Stefan asks what she’s trying to say. Kristen thinks it’s in their best interest that they all stick together as a family and give it the old college try.

Gwen comments on Leo having quite the 180 and questions having his blessing. Leo states that Gwen is his best friend, so if she’s happy, he’s happy. Gwen admits she’s a bit surprised since it’s very hard to change Leo’s mind. Leo says that he saw another side of Dimitri and he’s not the James Bond villain that he thought he was. Gwen remarks that he must’ve really worked his magic to make Leo flip like this. Leo says she could say that. Gwen then brings up that Dimitri would’ve caught Leo in his bedroom yesterday, so she questions why he was hanging out with him today. Leo says he’s glad she asked because he was just about to tell her that once he was on board with the wedding, Dimitri shared a secret with him which is a surprise for her and the wedding. Leo claims that’s why she hasn’t heard from Dimitri because they had been planning it today. Gwen supposes that explains the silence. Leo says that’s why he didn’t tell her last night that he ran in to Dimitri, because he was trying to keep his secret. Gwen agrees not to tell him that Leo told her. Gwen adds that she’s grateful that Leo came around and says it means the world to her that her best friend and husband to be are actually getting along. Gwen hugs Leo and says he has no idea how happy he’s made her.

EJ questions why Kristen is suddenly so protective of Dimitri. Kristen argues that it’s what Stefano would have wanted because they all know family meant everything to him. Kristen understands they don’t trust Dimitri but says she’s willing to vouch for him. Stefan warns that if one of them end up dead because of Dimitri, it’s on Kristen. Kristen says she can live with that. EJ reminds Stefan that they agreed but Stefan says they don’t have a choice. Stefan decides that Dimitri gets to stay. EJ tries to say he can’t decide that but Stefan says he and Kristen decided, so EJ is outnumbered. EJ calls this insane and warns that they will regret this as he storms out of the room. Dimitri thanks Stefan and thanks Kristen for sticking up for him. Kristen remarks that she’s sure he will find a way to pay her back. Gabi then arrives and comments that EJ nearly ran her over so she asks what’s going on. Stefan says they will go upstairs and he’ll explain everything. Stefan asks Gabi where she’s been. Gabi says she’ll explain later when they are alone as they head upstairs.

Li goes to the bar to meet his date and talks on the phone with his matchmaker about how he’s supposed to know what she looks like. Li thanks the matchmaker and says he’ll be on the lookout for a woman in a blue dress with dark hair as he hangs up. Li then sees that his date is Melinda Trask and says you’ve got to be kidding me.

Jada goes to the DiMera Mansion to ask Kristen about the incident between her and Brady. Kristen claims she didn’t and wouldn’t ever kidnap her own daughter. Jada confirms that Rachel said the same thing. Kristen asks why she is here then. Jada reveals that Rachel also said that Brady threatened Kristen with a gun.

Brady goes home with Belle, who says she wishes he would’ve kept his mouth shut with his right to remain silent. Brady apologizes and says he’s grateful that she got him out on bail so quickly. Belle warns that this is going to be a tough one as he really made the case a lot harder. Brady asks if he’s really going to go to prison. Belle confirms that if Kristen presses charges, there is a very good reason that he could go to prison. Rachel hides around the corner and listens in.

Steve goes to Jerry’s apartment and knocks on the door, asking if he’s inside as he needs to talk to him about Abe Carver.

Whitley says to herself that she’s sorry to Jerry as she didn’t want to do this but the hospital was getting suspicious so it was either him or her and she had to throw him under the bus. Whitley hopes that Jerry is long gone by now. Whitley declares that she was up against a wall and had to choose herself. Kayla then approaches her.

Rafe goes to Paulina’s apartment and says he hopes he’s not interrupting anything. Paulina says she knows he’s there to bring Lani back to prison. Rafe mentions that he’s not police commissioner anymore but he volunteered to oversee the transfer as he thought it would be easier for Lani with someone she knows. Paulina thanks him. Rafe asks if she wants to call Lani in. Paulina responds that Rafe is here and Lani’s not.

Lani goes to Whitley’s apartment, wondering if Jerry is telling the truth that Abe could really be alive. She knocks on the door and calls out to Abe. Lani then bursts through the door, shocked to find Abe inside.

Rafe questions Paulina saying Lani isn’t there, which she confirms. Rafe worries that’s not good as there’s not much time for him to get Lani back to prison. Paulina notes that Lani wanted to sit alone in the park after everyone left. Rafe points out that there’s a little bit of time, but she can’t be late or she could screw up her chances at getting an early release. Paulina assures that Lani won’t screw this up as she wants to get back to Eli and the kids as soon as possible. Paulina suggests calling her but Rafe reminds her that Lani is a prisoner, so she doesn’t have a phone. Paulina notes that Lani has been gone for awhile now. Rafe decides he’s going to the park, so Paulina decides to go with him and prays that Lani hasn’t lost track of time.

Lani is shocked to find out it’s true that Abe is alive. Abe, in his sedated state, questions who she is. Lani responds that she is his daughter but Abe says he’s sorry as he doesn’t know her. Lani remembers that he had amnesia. Lani encourages that everything is going to be okay now as she’s going to take him home to his family and everyone who loves him.

Kayla tells Whitley that she couldn’t help but overhear that she feels against the wall and asks if she can help. Whitley claims everything is fine. Kayla says it didn’t sound like that as she said something about choosing herself first. Whitley responds that as much as she loves the hospital and the town, it’s time for her to put herself first and say goodbye for good.

Jada finishes a call at the police station as Belle arrives. Jada informs her that she was just getting another warrant for the DiMera Mansion. Belle responds that it might not be necessary since Brady could be getting Rachel back as they speak. Jada asks if Kristen admitted to hiding her. Belle explains that Kristen hinted that Rachel could appear if Brady signed a new custody agreement, so she drew one up and Brady should be signing it right now…

After ripping up the new custody agreement, Brady calls out for Rachel. Kristen screams at him, asking what is wrong with him as she thought they had an understanding and that they were going to work this out. Brady argues that Kristen doesn’t get to kidnap his kid and use her to dictate their arrangement. Kristen complains that she told him that she had a feeling Rachel would reappear after he signed the papers, but now asks who’s to say. Brady responds that he is as he pulls a gun on Kristen. Kristen questions Brady coming armed for this and asks since when he owns a gun. Brady responds that it’s John’s and it’s loaded. Kristen asks if he’s going to shoot her in cold blood if Rachel doesn’t reappear. Brady warns that he’s thinking about it and asks where Rachel is. Kristen claims that she doesn’t know and says they need to get down to business, asking if he brought another copy of the agreement. Brady tells her that there is no agreement as she’s not calling the shots, he is.

Steve continues knocking on Jerry’s door. John joins him. Steve goes over Whitley claiming that Jerry was at the hospital when Abe disappeared and was the last person to see him on the docks. They talk about Jerry not answering the door not giving them much option, so they kick the door in.

Rafe and Paulina go to the park but Lani is gone. Paulina argues that this doesn’t make sense since she knew she had to go back to prison. Paulina questions why Lani would forget about that and just disappear.

Lani tells Abe that this is not his home. Abe tells her that “Paulina” brought him home when he got out of the hospital and told him that this is his home. Lani asks if he means Whitley. Abe asks who Whitley is and insists it was Paulina. Abe argues that if she was his daughter, she would know this and points to the edited wedding photo that Whitley made. Lani tells Abe that the woman in the picture is not his wife and not Paulina.

Kayla questions Whitley quitting the hospital. Whitley confirms that she is today. Kayla calls it kind of sudden. Whitley claims she’s been thinking about it for awhile and just made the decision to move back to Scottsdale. Whitley mentions telling Steve earlier. Kayla acknowledges that Steve is investigating what happened to Abe. Whitley claims that she told him everything she knew and feels terrible that she can’t do more to help. Kayla still doesn’t understand why she’s leaving. Whitley responds that she just feels like things have changed and feel different since Abe died. Kayla questions Whitley quitting her job without notice and leaving town for good, all because of Abe.

Steve and John search Jerry’s apartment but find that he’s gone.

Whitley tells Kayla that she’s not leaving exactly because of Abe but that him dying sums up how the whole town is ailing to her, so it’s time for her to put her needs first. Whitley says she’d like to use her vacation time as her 2 week notice. Kayla guesses she can’t change her mind. Kayla asks her to come to her office to talk about her exit package but Whitley says that’s not necessary and that she has to get going. Kayla insists it’s important and she won’t want to put it off. Whitley says it’s probably on the website. Kayla talks about how it’s going to take awhile as she has to make phone calls and cut her a check. Whitley says she can mail it and will get her the address when she lands in Scottsdale. Whitley hugs Kayla and says she was great to work with and a great lady. Whitley then rushes off through the elevator, leaving Kayla confused.

Paulina repeats to Rafe that it doesn’t make sense as Lani knew she couldn’t be late in returning to prison and she’s been counting down the days until she gets out. Rafe suggests thinking about what Lani would be trying to do before going back to prison. Paulina insists that Lani would make it back in time and there’s no way she would screw this up. Rafe tells Paulina to stay calm and promises to find Lani. Paulina asks if he means the way he found Abe.

Jada goes over Kristen saying that if Brady signed a custody arrangement, Rachel would magically reappear. Belle confirms that was implied. Jada calls it blackmail and kidnapping. Belle notes that Brady knows that but he also knows how dangerous and volatile that Kristen can be. Belle says Brady would do anything to get Rachel away from Kristen and he’ll deal with her later. Jada worries that it’s exactly what Kristen wants and Brady is playing right in to her hand while Belle is helping him do it. Belle gets that Jada is frustrated and adds that she hates what happened to Rafe. Belle says Shawn feels terrible that Clint overheard him talking about Rafe and Jada’s relationship. Jada complains that Shawn is only suspended, so he can come back to the force, but thanks to him, Rafe’s career is over. Belle says they don’t know that. Jada argues that Rafe would be just as pissed at Brady as she is.

Kristen tells Brady that she sees he means business, so he’s won. Kristen then tells Brady that Rachel is in the secret passage. Kristen grabs a glass figure to try to knock Brady out but he catches her. Brady argues that she has been using their daughter as a chess piece. Kristen complains that he did the same thing. Brady argues that he was protecting Rachel from her. Brady states that Kristen is nuts and incapable of loving Rachel. Brady screams that Kristen doesn’t know how to love and only wants to win. Brady says she’s here because she lost in court and just wants to win like Stefano. Brady screams that Rachel is not a prize or a possession. Brady screams that he doesn’t want Kristen in Rachel’s life, so he might as well just kill her right now. Rachel then runs in to the room and calls out to Brady.

Lani insists to Abe that the woman in the photo is not Paulina and talks about being his daughter. Abe talks about being told he had a son, Theo. Lani says she talked to Theo earlier and he’s so worried about him. Abe mentions thinking he saw Theo on TV. Lani says they can talk about it all when they get home but they need to get him out of here. Abe brings up that “Paulina” told him not to leave the house. Lani argues that it’s not Paulina, but a nurse who works at the hospital, who some how got him out of there. Lani talks about Whitley faking Abe’s death and making everyone think he drowned. Lani brings up that she was at Abe’s funeral. Abe jokes that this could be a story on Body and Soul. Lani insists that Abe has to come with her but Whitley comes home and declares that she can’t let her do that.

Brady tells Kristen to stay out of it as he turns to Rachel to tell her everything is okay. Rachel argues that he said he was going to kill her mom. Brady explains that he needed Kristen to tell him where she was since no one knew after she disappeared from camp. Brady insists that he would never kill anybody. Kristen tries to call Rachel to her but Brady yells at her to stay out of it. Rachel yells at Brady not to talk to Kristen like that.

Jada apologizes to Belle for taking this out on her and acknowledges that Shawn feels terrible, but says he shouldn’t because it’s not his fault. Jada admits that she and Rafe brought this on themselves as they kept working together even though they knew how they felt. Belle blames on whoever created the regulations. Jada feels awful being at work while Rafe is out on the streets. Belle says she’ll do anything she can but Jada doesn’t think there is anything since they knew the regulations and what would happen. Jada complains that it’s so stupid. Jada says they need Rafe because they have a missing child and they don’t know what really happened to Abe.

John and Steve search Jerry’s apartment but find nothing, wondering why he must have left in a hurry and if he knew Steve was coming. Steve suggests Jerry started feeling the heat and decided to get out before people started putting things together. John says that’s if Jerry is behind what happened to Abe. Steve says that’s why he wanted to talk to him. They wonder what method of transportation he took to leave as Steve points out that they can’t cover the airport, trains, and bus stations between just the two of them. John agrees that they will need some help with that so Steve decides to see if he can get some by calling Jada. Steve tells Jada that he’s calling about Jerry Prentiss as he and John decided to talk with him as it turns out that he was in the hospital near Abe’s room on the day that Abe went missing but now he’s gone too. Steve adds that they are in Jerry’s apartment and it looks like he grabbed his stuff and ran. Jada guesses that he wants her to put people at the airport, train, and bus stations and says she’s on it. Jada declares that if Jerry is still in Salem, they will find him. Steve hangs up as John points out that they don’t know when Jerry split, so he hopes it’s not already too late.

Paulina complains to Rafe that this wouldn’t have happened if he wasn’t sneaking around with Jada. Rafe argues that this isn’t about he and Jada as they need to focus on trying to find Lani. Paulina brings up Rafe being fired for sleeping with a subordinate and argues that if they focused on their jobs instead of each other, maybe they would’ve found Abe and there wouldn’t have been a funeral. Paulina cries that Lani wouldn’t have been sad and felt the need to be alone. Paulina breaks down crying that it’s too much as Rafe hugs her.

Lani tells Abe that Whitley is not Paulina. Abe tells Whitley that she won’t believe what Lani has been telling him. Whitley questions who Lani is. Lani responds that she is her worst nightmare, introducing herself as Abe’s daughter and the wife of Eli, who will be very interested to hear all about what Abe has been doing here. Whitley argues that Abe was very ill and he’s been nursed back to health and it’s imperative that he not have any stress so she has to ask her to leave. Lani tells her to just shut up. Lani asks if she has any idea the hell that she has put them all through it. Lani brings up being at Abe’s funeral this morning. Whitley asks her to leave and calls this ridiculous. Lani reveals to Whitley that Jerry told her everything about how she hired him to play her brother. Lani declares that her act is over as she is taking Abe home and Whitley is going to prison. Abe questions who is going to prison. Lani tells Abe that they are getting out of here now and he will start feeling better soon. Whitley asks Lani not to do this to them, crying that they have a future and they love each other. Whitley claims that she didn’t mean any harm and was just trying to help Abe. Whitley asks Lani to have mercy. Lani asks if she should feel bad that she’s sick, depraved, and crazy. Lani tells Whitley that she’s going to make her pay. Whitley argues that she’s not crazy and she loves Abe. Lani tells Whitley to get out of her way but Whitley says she can’t let her do this and injects her with the syringe.

Steve asks John what Jerry’s motive would be and if maybe he was looking for a ransom or if something went wrong and he had to put things on hold. John questions why he would kill the hostage if it was a kidnapping or why Jerry would even open his mouth about Abe falling in to the water. Steve wonders why Jerry would hang around until the police showed up and says they only know his name because he talked to Eli and Rafe. Steve adds that if Jerry did kidnap Abe, then everything he did after makes absolutely no sense. Jerry’s printer in the apartment then goes off with an error message due to a paper jam which leads to Steve finding something in the printer.

Rafe brings Paulina to the hospital to have Kayla check her out after her panic attack. Kayla encourages her to relax and says she’ll be back to check her numbers but she thinks she will be fine. After Kayla exits the room, Paulina complains to Rafe that she won’t be fine after the things she said to him. Paulina admits she was cruel and assures that she thinks Rafe and Jada did everything they could. Paulina says she’s sorry and is mad at herself. Rafe understands that she was pushed to the limit. Paulina worries that Lani has to get back to prison in time and they still don’t know where she is. Rafe then gets a call from the prison in Maryland.

Kristen questions Brady talking like this in front of their daughter. Brady blames Kristen for creating this situation and says they are done. Brady tells Rachel that Kristen needs some time to think about what she has done and instructs her to wait by the front door. Brady tells Kristen that she’s gone too far to terrorize him. Brady says all she had left was that he hasn’t told Rachel what kind of woman she is but that’s over now as he’s going to tell Rachel everything. Rachel runs back in to the room and tells Brady not to yell at Kristen like that. Rachel cries that she doesn’t want to go and wants to stay with her mom. Brady tells her that’s not going to happen as they are leaving. Brady picks Rachel up and leaves the mansion as Kristen breaks down crying. Belle then arrives and asks what Kristen wanted to see her about. Kristen informs Belle that Brady tore up the custody agreement. Belle question what happened and where Rachel is. Kristen responds that everything just fell apart, but Brady will listen to Belle and he needs to sign the agreement. Kristen argues that Belle is a mother, so she knows how important it is that Rachel is not cut out of her life. Belle asks again where Rachel is. Kristen informs her that she’s with Brady. Belle asks where Rachel has been all this time then. Belle realizes Kristen won’t tell her but says she can make a pretty good guess. Belle warns Kristen that when she goes too far, there are consequences.

Brady brings Rachel home to John and Marlena’s. Brady tells Rachel that she has to know that no one knew where she was or if she was safe. Rachel says she was fine. Brady says he didn’t know that. Brady sends Rachel to her room and says they will talk later. Brady then puts John’s gun back as Jada then shows up at the door. Brady informs Jada that he was just about to call her as Rachel is back. Jada reveals that she knows. Brady adds that he was right that Kristen had her the whole time, so Jada is welcome to go to the DiMera Mansion to arrest Kristen for kidnapping. Jada responds that she’s sorry but she’s here to arrest Brady for pulling a gun on Kristen and threatening to kill her. Brady asks if that’s what Kristen told her after kidnappping their daughter. Rachel comes back in and reveals that she is the one who called the police.

Steve and John find the day’s bus schedule in Jerry’s printer. They note that there are a lot of places he could be headed to. Steve decides they have to get to the terminal before Jerry boards.

Paulina questions Rafe ignoring the prison’s phone call. Rafe explains that they were calling to find out where Lani is and if he told them that she’s missing then she would officially be a fugitive and it would only get worse from there. Paulina asks what do they do. Rafe calls the prison back and claims that he’s with Lani now and that he will have her back at the prison before lockdown. Rafe tells Paulina that he has bought them some time and hopes it’s enough.

Lani questions what Whitley injected her with. Whitley calls it something to help her relax. Abe asks what’s going on. Lani says that Whitley will not get away with this as she then collapses.

Steve questions Whitley about what makes her want to resign from her job at the hospital. Whitley assures it’s not the job and that Kayla is the best boss she’s ever had. Steve asks why she wants to quit then, unless she’s going somewhere

Lani shows up at Jerry’s door. Jerry asks what she’s doing there as he thought her father’s funeral was today. Lani confirms it was and that she knows Jerry was there because Theo saw him. Jerry says he wanted to pay his respects. Lani calls that very thoughtful of him and adds that it’s so strange that they even had a funeral when they don’t have Abe’s body, so they can’t properly lay him to rest with all these unanswered questions. Lani says that’s what she wanted to talk to Jerry about and asks if she can come in.

Abe continues watching Body and Soul and sees himself appearing in the show as he hallucinates from the drug that Whitley injected him with.

Belle sits in the town square after Abe’s funeral. Brady joins her and comments on the service and how they had quite a turnout. Belle says it’s great that Brady came, considering everything going on with Rachel. Brady responds that he obviously wants his little girl back but it’s not like she’s actually missing. Belle asks what he means as she thought Rachel ran away from summer camp. Brady confirms that she did, but he knows exactly where she is.

Marlena questions Kristen saying that she will tell her where Rachel is, if she gets something in return. Kristen says it’s just a hypothetical at this point, but if she did know where Rachel is, she wouldn’t tell her without being rewarded. Marlena asks what Kristen wants. Kristen responds that she wants custody of her daughter.

Abe imagines himself in Body and Soul where his character is named Henry Marshall and he talks about being in the hospital after being attacked but he doesn’t know by whom.

Jerry lets Lani in and she sees his bags packed, so she asks if he’s going somewhere. Jerry claims he just decided to go back to LA to give acting another try and he’s kind of in a hurry. Lani says she won’t hold him up but with the unanswered questions about Abe, her mind is working overtime and she’s thinking about when she met him at the docks. Lani brings up that Theo said Jerry wanted to tell him something but he never got around to it. Jerry repeats that he just wanted to tell him how sorry he was about Abe. Lani points out that right after that, Jerry took off pretty fast so she asks if they did something to make him nervous.

Whitley informs Steve that she is going somewhere. Steve questions her not being happy in Salem. Whitley thinks back to telling Jerry of her plan. Whitley claims it has nothing to do with Salem and says she’s just ready for a fresh start after all these years. Steve asks where she is headed. Whitley responds that she’s heading to Scottsdale, Arizona where she is from and claims she still has some family there. Steve says he bets, considering she is one of five kids. Whitley questions how he knows that. Steve says it’s from her background check which she questions. Steve informs her that the FBI ran one after Abe disappeared.

Belle tells Brady that she would ask Shawn if there’s been any progress on getting another warrant to search the DiMera Mansion, but he wouldn’t know because he’s been suspended from the force for drinking on the job. Brady guesses he’s still dealing with what happened to Bo. Belle confirms that for weeks, he’s been numbing the pain with alcohol which she knows Brady understands. Brady offers to talk to Shawn but Belle thinks finding Rachel is the priority. Brady says he knows Kristen has her in the DiMera Mansion and he was going to go tear the place up, but Marlena convinced him to let her handle it. Brady says with any luck, Marlena will be able to convince Kristen to give him his kid back.

Marlena tells Kristen that if she wants to revisit custody, there are several ways she could do that like hiring a lawyer. Kristen complains that she couldn’t find one to take her case. Marlena asks if kidnapping was the next logical step. Kristen argues that Brady kidnapped Rachel last year while Marlena points out that was because Kristen was withholding the orchid that could have saved lives, including hers, so what Brady did was for a very good reason. Kristen argues that she has a good reason too and claims that she is hypothetically speaking.

Whitley asks why the FBI would do a background check on her when she had nothing to do with what happened to Abe. Steve explains that it’s completely routine as in kidnapping cases, they have to check in to everyone connected and Whitley saw Abe on the day he disappeared which was the day she let work early. Whitley argues that she was sick and she has already been through all of this with Eli. Steve points out that they are not exactly clear on what happened yet and it’s Mayor Carver, so they are not just going to let it go. Steve brings up that Abe was Eli’s father in law, so he’s going to keep digging until he nails down the entire timeline of when Abe went missing to when he ended up in the river, questioning where he was all this time and who he was with. Steve states that the FBI needs all of Abe’s movements, especially from the last person to see him. Whitley argues that she wasn’t the last person to see him, as that was Jerry.

Lani comments that Jerry seems really nervous now. Jerry claims he’s just anxious to get packed. Lani says she will leave when she gets some answers. Lani goes back to the day at the docks and says it seems like something was really weighing on him. Lani asks Jerry if he’s sure there was nothing else he wanted to tell Theo. Lani states that so many people love and miss Abe. Lani adds that this is especially painful for her because she used to be a cop. Lani wants to help with the investigation so she can find whoever took Abe and give everyone who loved him some answers, but because she’s not on the force anymore, she can’t work with the police. Lani adds that she still needs those answers desperately. Lani asks Jerry to tell her if he knows anything about what happened to Abe because it would finally give her the closure that she needs to say goodbye to her dad. Jerry then breaks down and admits that he lied about everything and his entire story was a lie.

Abe continues hallucinating during Body and Soul, where his character is being encouraged to run for mayor.

Brady knows Marlena and Kristen have not had the best history, but they have been known to put that aside at times, so he hopes that Marlena can get Kristen to listen to reason. Belle points out that Kristen has never listened to reason. Brady says that Kristen loves her daughter and he thinks that Kristen feels guilty about keeping Rachel away from him and her grandparents. Brady thinks that Marlena can appeal to Kristen and make her see the light and do the right thing.

Marlena encourages Kristen that she can still do the right thing and repay the favor that she did for her yesterday by telling her where Rachel is. Kristen claims that she can’t tell her what she doesn’t know. Marlena warns that Brady is never going to give her full custody and questions what she wants. Kristen shouts that she wants Brady to share. Kristen says that no matter how Marlena feels about her, she knows that she loves Rachel as much as Brady does and that Rachel loves her. Kristen says it’s important for their child to have both parents in her life. Kristen says now Marlena knows, hypothetically, how to resolve this situation. Kristen suggests Marlena have a chat with Belle, which she agrees to do. Marlena tells Kristen to tell Rachel that she loves her as she then exits the mansion. Rachel then emerges from the tunnels wearing a bear costume.

Lani questions Jerry saying his entire story was a lie. Jerry admits he never saw Abe fall in to the water or at the docks at all. Lani asks how he knows that Abe was there then. Jerry admits that he wasn’t. Lani argues that they found Abe’s hospital bracelet and his blood. Jerry reveals that he planted them. Lani questions how he got those things and what he did to Abe. Jerry swears that he didn’t do anything to Abe as it was all Nurse King and everything that happened was part of Whitley’s plan.

Steve tells Whitley that he didn’t mean the last person to see Abe alive, but the last person to see him before he went missing which was her. Whitley insists that was Jerry. Steve questions her saying that Jerry was at the hospital on the day that Abe went missing.

Abe continues envisioning Body and Soul where Paulina is introduced as a new character opposing his character as mayor.

Brady appreciates Belle’s concern but he knows her issue with Shawn is rough and repeats that he’s willing to talk to him. Belle mentions that Shawn has agreed to talk to Marlena. Marlena then approaches, so Brady asks if she had any luck with Kristen. Marlena informs him that Kristen claimed not to know where Rachel is. Brady is not surprised that Kristen is sticking to her story. Marlena adds that Kristen said if she knew anything, she would be willing to share but in return, she would like to revisit their custody agreement.

Kristen questions what Rachel is doing down in the tunnels. Rachel responds that the attic is scary. Kristen says it’s just a place where things are stored. Rachel complains that it’s lonely up there. Kristen promises this will be over very soon and she will only have to be up there a little longer. Kristen reminds her that it’s important that she wear the costume so the police don’t find her. Kristen mentions that the police walked right by her when she was surrounded by her stuffed animals. Kristen repeats that it will just be a little longer and suggests having a tea party. Rachel asks if Brady is worried about her because she doesn’t like making him scared. Kristen says she doesn’t need to be concerned about him because this will all be over very soon.

Steve questions Whitley telling him that Jerry was at the hospital on the day that Abe disappeared. Whitley claims that Jerry was lingering outside of Abe’s room. Steve questions why she didn’t tell anybody about that. Whitley says she didn’t think it was important, but when she read in the paper that he was the eye witness, she thought it was suspicious. Steve points out that she still didn’t tell anyone. Whitley claims she didn’t want to get Jerry in trouble because he’s a nice young man. Steve suggests maybe not. Whitley pretends to be shocked at the idea that Jerry could have something to do with what happened to Abe.

Abe’s vision of Body and Soul mirrors the way he met Paulina and his character calls it deja vu.

Lani asks Jerry what Whitley has to do with this. Jerry explains that she is the one who gave him Abe’s hospital bracelet and his blood to put on the docks. Lani questions why he would do that. Jerry explains that his grandma was sick and couldn’t afford her medicine so Whitley forged some documents. Jerry knows it was wrong but when she asked him for help, he couldn’t say no. Jerry thought Whitley was a good person but she’s not. Lani questions what Whitley did to Abe, if she hurt him, and how she got his blood. Lani demands Jerry talk to her. Jerry then reveals that Abe is alive.

Brady decides he’s going to the DiMera Mansion now to confront Kristen but Marlena stops him. Brady complains that this is just another ploy to get him to revisit the custody arrangement. Marlena understands but says right now, Kristen holds all the cards so if he does something rash, she could just take off with Rachel. Brady questions giving in to Kristen again and asks Belle if there is something they can do here. Belle says she’d rather be a sister than a lawyer, but the fact that Rachel went missing works in Kristen’s favor because Brady has full custody so he’s in charge of all decisions including what summer camp she goes to. Brady asks if a court is going to think this was his fault. Belle states that the fact that Rachel escaped on his watch will look bad. Marlena argues that it’s not about what Kristen has done wrong but what’s right for Rachel. Brady says he’s open to Rachel having both parents. Belle recalls trying to reason with Kristen about joint custody. Brady says he wanted that, until Kristen blackmailed him with three women’s lives including Marlena’s. Brady can’t believe Marlena is advocating for Kristen. Marlena says she is advocating for Rachel and that they have to put aside their feelings for Kristen and focus on how Rachel feels about her mother. Belle notes that if Brady agrees to joint custody, she could add stipulations to the agreement. Marlena knows it’s not easy but her experience says the better things go with Kristen now, the easier things will be down the road.

Kristen encourages Rachel that before she knows it, she will get to spend time with both of her parents. Kristen hugs her and says she loves her, then sends her back in to the tunnels to return to the attic.

Abe continues hallucinating Body and Soul where his character declares that he remembers an important secret, that he and Paulina’s character have a daughter.

Lani questions what Jerry means by saying her father is alive. Jerry informs her that Abe never fell off the docks and that Whitley has had him this whole time after kidnapping him from the hospital and pretending to be Paulina. Jerry adds that she paid him to pretend to be Theo and Abe believed him at first because of his head injury messing up his memory. Jerry says every once in a while, Abe would have memory flashes and tries to put the pieces together but Whitley won’t let him.

Whitley asks Steve if he thinks it means something that Jerry was there when Abe disappeared and he is the one who saw him fall in to the river. Steve declares that they are sure as hell going to find out. Steve calls John and informs him that Whitley told him something very interesting. Steve asks John to get an address on Jerry.

Jerry tells Lani that Abe knows something is off but Whitley sedates him to keep him in line. Lani questions why he would be a part of something so sick. Jerry explains that he didn’t know as Whitley told him that she needed him for an acting part and that it would help with Abe’s recovery, so he had no idea that he would be faking his death. Lani asks where her father is. Jerry responds that as far as he knows, he is still at Whitley’s apartment, but she did say she was leaving town and taking Abe with her. Jerry apologizes for everything as Lani storms out.

Belle has her assistant e-mail the amended custody agreement to Brady. Marlena states that as soon as Kristen gets that, they get to have Rachel back. Belle asks if Marlena really thinks that giving in to Kristen’s demands was the right thing to do. Marlena repeats that the right thing to do was what’s best for Rachel, acknowledging that she loves her mother and wants to spend time with her. Marlena says no court won’t take in to an account what a child wants. Belle wishes that Kristen found a way to deal with this without involving kidnapping. Marlena hopes everybody can move forward in a civilized way.

Brady goes to the DiMera Mansion and tells Kristen that Marlena told him that she would be interested in revisiting their custody arrangement and that amending it might help in the search for Rachel. Brady thinks she will be pleased with the changes then and shows her the agreement. Kristen responds that she is quite pleased and says she has a really good feeling about this. Kristen knows that once she signs this, Rachel is going to be found. Kristen then signs the agreement and gives it back to Brady to sign. Brady says he has a good feeling about it too but then he stops and rips up the papers.

Whitley says to herself that she’s sorry to Jerry as she didn’t want to do this but the hospital was getting suspicious so it was either him or her and she had to throw him under the bus. Whitley hopes that Jerry is long gone by now.

Jerry says to himself that he’s sorry to Whitley but Lani deserved to know the truth. Jerry declares that he’s not going to be around when she finds him as he’s not going down for this. Jerry gets ready to leave when Steve knocks on his door.

Abe continues hallucinating Body and Soul until Lani bursts in to find Abe.

Days of Our Lives Update

Steve finishes a call with Kayla as he is preparing for Abe’s funeral. John shows up at the door. Steve asks if there’s any news on his granddaughter. John responds that it’s obvious Kristen got her, they just don’t know where the hell she took her.

Brady is posting missing persons posters of Rachel in the town square when he runs in to Marlena. Marlena mentions going to Abe’s funeral but offers to help. Brady says she doesn’t have to and admits it’s kind of pointless because they know who has Rachel.

Kristen comes down the stairs at the DiMera Mansion, texting Rachel to remind her not to text her friends and not to open the door to anyone. Lani then shows up at the door, shocking Kristen who excitedly hugs her.

Chanel and Paulina prepare for Abe’s funeral. Paulina asks for Lani but Chanel says she just went to run an errand. Chanel and Paulina hug as they hold back tears. Paulina wonders how she will make it through the funeral.

Whitley brings Abe breakfast and comments on taking good care of him. Abe argues that she is not Paulina and she is not his wife.

Steve asks John if there’s anything he can do to help. John wishes there was but says the cops searched the DiMera Mansion from top to bottom and found nothing. Steve asks what Kristen’s endgame is and if she plans to take Rachel and run. John doubts that because if she left town, that would mean she’s giving up on Brady and he doesn’t see that happening. John adds that he has Kristen under surveillance 24/7 just in case. Steve offers him a cup of coffee and asks if he got any sleep at all last night. John says not really because he kept having a nightmare about Abe. John informs Steve that it’s the second time that he had the exact same dream about Abe disappearing from the docks. Steve admits that would shake him up too. John then declares that he’s starting to wonder if maybe somehow it was more than a dream.

Chanel tells Paulina that she wants to be strong for her now, especially since her mom, Olivia, can’t be there. Paulina says that just looking at her gives her strength. Chanel assures that she is always there for her. Chanel talks about being grateful for Abe and comments that it was like having a dad again after so many years without one. Paulina agrees that they were both so lucky to have Abe in their lives as they hug. Chanel guesses she’s not as strong as she thought as she cries. Paulina encourages that they will just have to lean on each other.

Whitley tells Abe that she is Paulina. Abe argues that he saw Paulina’s picture and it wasn’t her. Whitley prepares another dose in the syringe and says this medicine will get him all cleared up. Abe complains that he doesn’t want it, but Whitley injects him anyway.

Marlena knows Brady believes that Kristen is behind Rachel’s disappearance. Brady asks why Kristen would demand a warrant from the police to search the DiMera Mansion if Rachel was really missing. Marlena agrees that Kristen would leave no stone unturned to find Rachel if she really believed that she had been kidnapped. Brady complains that he’s out running around in circles while she’s sitting home in the DiMera Mansion.

Kristen brings Lani in to the living room and asks how she managed to get free. Lani explains that she’s not free and was only allowed out to attend Abe’s funeral as she shows Kristen her ankle monitor. Kristen tells her that she’s so sorry about Abe. Lani says she can’t stay long but she just had to see her, especially when she heard that Rachel was missing. Kristen blames Brady for making Rachel go to a camp that she hated and running away. Lani stops Kristen and asks if she would be lying to her.

Theo joins Paulina and Chanel. Paulina is glad he’s there and mentions asking him to go with them to the funeral. Chanel is glad they are all going together. Paulina reveals that they are not because she wants Chanel to go get pictures of Abe from Steve and Kayla. Chanel says she could just text them to bring the pictures but Paulina asks her to just do that for her and that she and Theo will meet her at the church. Chanel then agrees to do that and exits. Theo questions Paulina seemingly sending Chanel away on purpose which she admits to. Paulina tells Theo that there is something she wants to talk to him about.

Steve questions John thinking his dream was like a premonition. John talks about Abe’s death and all the unanswered questions after everything they went through Marlena and Kayla. Steve relates to having a dream that Kayla was trying to reach him. John feels that’s exactly what this feels like. Steve asks if John thinks Abe might still be alive. John calls it possible, pointing out that they don’t know how he disappeared from the hospital, where he was the whole time, or how he got down to the docks. John adds that they can’t say anything to Paulina without anything concrete but it doesn’t make sense. Steve argues that they’ve gone over the evidence a million times. John suggests going back to the beginning and retracing every step because they have to be missing something. Steve agrees to start from the beginning with Whitley King’s statement.

Whitley encourages Abe that all his thoughts will seem like a bad dream, insisting that she is Paulina and she loves him. Jerry shows up at the door. Whitley questions what he’s doing there as their business is done. Jerry asks why she’s suddenly so freaked out to see him. Jerry pushes his way inside and sees Abe passed out, so he questions what she has done to him.

Marlena asks if Brady really thinks Kristen has Rachel hidden in the DiMera Mansion. Brady insists that he feels it in his bones and he knows it. Brady decides he’s going there now to get the truth out of Kristen once and for all. Marlena stops him and says he can’t do that.

Lani asks Kristen if after all the time they spent together in the convent, she would lie to her best friend. Kristen argues that she’s not lying and that the police searched the place top to bottom, so if Rachel were there, they would have found her. Lani remarks that if anyone could outsmart the police, it would be Kristen. Kristen claims that she’s not there. Lani questions why Kristen isn’t out looking for her then because she doubts Kristen would be here shooting the breeze with her if Rachel was really missing. Lani reminds Kristen that kidnapping is a crime. Kristen questions how it could be kidnapping when she is her daughter. Lani argues that she can’t be this stupid, reminding her that she is the parent without custody. Lani points out that Kristen just got out of prison while she has to go back later today. Lani encourages Kristen to enjoy her freedom and find a way to legally see her daughter. Kristen complains that she can’t even see her daughter without working things out with Brady. Lani advises her to do that and start with their love of Rachel. Lani tells Kristen that if she knows where Rachel is, now is the time to tell Brady.

Theo asks what Paulina wanted to talk to him about. Paulina knows he plans to give the eulogy at Abe’s funeral and thinks that’s so brave of him because of how much he hates speaking in public. Paulina states that today is going to be a very emotional day, so she doesn’t want him to feel the pressures of anyone else’s expectations. Theo says he doesn’t really and that he just wants to do it for Abe. Theo talks about doing hard things his whole life, but admits he is really nervous. Theo asks Paulina to let him practice his speech on her, noting that he did so with Chad for Juneteenth. Paulina agrees to listen as they hug.

Steve goes over how Rafe and Eli both talked to Whitley and her story has been consistent that she checked on Abe, he was confused and she left but when she came back, he was gone. John brings up none of the cameras picking up any of Abe’s movements which makes it hard to believe that he was just wandering around. John feels someone moved Abe, who knew where all the cameras were. Steve suggests someone who worked in the hospital but notes that Kayla talked to everyone on duty that night and says no one saw anything. John says that brings them back to Whitley. Steve mentions Eli doing a background check on her and Kayla said she’s a great employee who never took any time off outside of when her husband died. They talk about Whitley going home sick on the day that Abe went missing, despite not missing work for 15 years until her husband died. Chanel then shows up at the door. John hugs her and says he’s sorry. Steve guesses she came for the pictures that Kayla found which Paulina asked for. Chanel thanks them. Steve asks if she needs anything else. Chanel says they have everything they need and talks about everyone being so kind. Chanel mentions that Abe’s nurse even stopped by to see if Paulina was okay the other day which John questions.

Whitley steps out with Jerry and argues that Abe is fine and she just had to sedate him, which she blames Jerry for. Whitley explains that Abe saw Jerry on Body and Soul and figured out that he’s not his son, so she had no choice but to give him a break from reality. Jerry argues that this isn’t right and says he came to tell her that he met Abe’s son and daughter, who are wrecked thinking that Abe is dead, all because of Whitley and her crazy scheme. Whitley argues that it’s not a crazy scheme and that she loves Abe, he was meant for her, and she’s the only one who can care for him. Jerry questions her keeping Abe from his family and says if she really cared about him, she would let him go. Whitley tells him to shut up as he has no idea what Abe’s life was like with those people. Jerry argues that she doesn’t either, but he does know that they will be grieving for no damn reason and crying at his funeral when Abe is sitting in there right under their noses. Whitley declares it won’t be for long because she’s leaving Salem and taking Abe with her.

Kristen knows Lani is out on parole in six months, so she doesn’t want her to do or say anything that will jeopardize her getting back to her family. Kristen acknowledges Lani being unfairly separated from her children, so she knows exactly how she feels. Lani says she wants the best for her and Rachel as she knows how much she loves her, but Brady is her father and he loves her too. Kristen complains that she doesn’t get to see Rachel. Lani brings up Kristen still having feelings for Brady, so she questions why she would want him to suffer. Lani points out that all the time she’s been away, her kids have had Eli and she can’t imagine how painful it would be for them to be separated from him and that’s what Brady is for Rachel. Lani urges Kristen to think about it. Lani says she has to get to the church. Lani tells Kristen that she loves her as they hug. Kristen wishes she could be at the funeral for her and Theo, but she doesn’t think anyone would want her there. Lani tells her not to worry about that and to just focus on reuniting her beautiful family. Kristen says it was wonderful to see her and she hopes they get to see each other very soon. Lani assures that they will and it will be in Salem, not in federal prison. Kristen tells Lani that she loves her and kisses her on the cheek as Lani then exits the mansion.

Brady tells Marlena that he will be civilized with Kristen. Marlena asks when that’s ever worked with her and suggests he let her go to the mansion to try to talk to Kristen. Marlena says she might not be a trained detective, but she’s trained to know when people are lying to her and getting people to open up to her. Brady acknowledges that no one is better at that than her. Marlena agrees to go there after dropping the pictures off. Brady hopes that Marlena can get through to Kristen and find out where Rachel is. Brady thanks Marlena and hugs her.

Theo reads his eulogy speech to Paulina, talking about not thinking Abe would fall in love again after his mother died, but then he met this amazing woman who changed their lives. Theo talks about how much he and Abe loved Paulina and promises to take care of her. Paulina cries that they will take care of each other as they hug.

John asks Chanel about Whitley coming to their apartment. Chanel confirms that she said she wanted to give her condolences about Abe dying. John wonders how Whitley got their address. Chanel suggests that she probably got it from Abe’s medical file or from when she worked on Abe’s last mayoral campaign which John questions. Chanel talks about Whitley being a big supporter of Abe’s and even being in the park when Abe and Paulina got married. Chanel then exits. John and Steve agree that they need to take a harder look at Whitley.

Jerry questions Whitley leaving Salem. Whitley responds that she’s quitting her job and taking Abe somewhere far away for a fresh start. Whitley adds that she will pay Jerry a big bonus if he leaves town too. Jerry questions why he would leave Salem. Whitley argues that he’s up in his neck in this too, so it would be better if he were away from prying eyes and all the questions. Whitley adds that there’s nothing for him here as an actor. Whitley says she has to get back inside to Abe and she’ll be in touch about his bonus. Whitley reminds him not to say a word to anyone as she heads back inside. Abe wakes up and questions why “Theo” was there. Whitley claims he just forgot something and had to come all the way back. Abe argues that was not his son. Whitley says she has to get to work and he can watch his stories, then when she comes back, they can start a whole new life together. Abe repeats that was not Theo and not his son.

A few hours later…

Kristen is texting Rachel as Marlena emerges from the tunnels and asks if she’s interrupting. Kristen says no and that Marlena could’ve used the front door like a normal person. Marlena feels she wouldn’t have answered the door and says she doesn’t mind going through the tunnels as she knows her way around there after having been held captive numerous times in the past. Kristen asks to what she owes the pleasure. Marlena thinks Kristen can figure out that she’s here on Brady’s behalf about Rachel. Kristen asks if she took a good look around the tunnels. Marlena confirms that she did. Kristen says she can see for herself that Rachel is not here. Marlena doesn’t believe her. Marlena suggests Kristen make it easy on herself and everyone who loves Rachel by telling her where she is.

Brady meets John at the Brady Pub. John asks how he’s holding up. Brady admits he’s nervous as Marlena just went to the DiMera Mansion to confront Kristen. John then gets a call from Steve, who says he just gave Kayla a ride to the hospital so he’s going to check if Whitley is on shift and maybe have a word with her. John tells him to let him know what goes on as they hang up. Whitley then approaches Steve and questions who he is and why he wants to talk to her.

Abe watches Body and Soul where he sees Jerry’s character saying he’s done pretending to be somebody else. Abe remarks that he’s not Theo either.

Paulina, Chanel, Theo, and Lani are together in the park after Abe’s funeral. Chanel calls it a beautiful service. Theo comments that it seemed like the whole town was there including people he didn’t even know. Paulina mentions not seeing Whitley and asks if they did. Chanel suggests maybe she had to work. Theo says he didn’t see her, but he did see Jerry in the back of the church. Paulina decides she’s ready to go home. Lani says she’s going to stay there for a minute. Paulina tells her not to stay too long as Rafe will be at the apartment soon to take her back to prison. Lani assures she will be there in time. Paulina leaves with Theo and Chanel while Lani sits down on the bench in the park. Lani thinks back to seeing Jerry tell Theo how sorry he was about Abe. Lani then gets up and walks away.

Kristen tells Marlena that her psychological insight knows no bounds and asks if she really thinks that’s going to work. Marlena brings up that yesterday, she helped Kristen through hypnosis to get her memories back after Megan kidnapped her and injected her with mind altering drugs. Kristen says she thanked her for that. Marlena points out that she didn’t pay her for it and she doesn’t want her money, but she could pay her by letting her know where her granddaughter is. Kristen responds that she’s sorry but she can’t help her with that. Marlena argues that Kristen can’t keep going on like this. Kristen says if she did know where Rachel is, she’s not willing to give that information up for nothing, so she would need something in return.

Brady hopes Marlena will be able to get through to Kristen as he was hoping to hear from her by now. John encourages him to be patient. John then toasts to Abe, calling him the most honorable man he’s ever known and the best friend anyone could ask for.

Steve introduces himself to Whitley as a good friend of Abe’s. Whitley recognizes him as Kayla’s husband and asks what he wants to talk to her about. Steve says that Chanel mentioned to him that Whitley worked on Abe’s election campaign. Whitley confirms she’s a huge supporter of Abe. Steve brings up her being at he and Paulina’s wedding too. Whitley says she was at the park for the Juneteenth celebration and asks what that has to do with anything. Steve wonders if she could tell him the last thing Abe said to her before he went missing. Whitley complains that she already told the police everything and she needs to get going. Whitley says she needs to speak to Kayla and asks if she’s in her office. Steve confirms that she just got back and asks what she needs to talk to her about. Whitley reveals that she is tendering her resignation which Steve questions.

Jerry packs his bags in a hurry when Lani shows up at his door.

Chanel, Paulina, and Theo return home. Chanel offers to bake but Paulina says she’s not hungry. Chanel encourages her to eat. Paulina says maybe later. Theo asks if she believes what everyone said about Abe being in a better place. Paulina responds that she sure hopes so.

Abe continues watching Body and Soul and sees himself appearing in the show.
