Evan: Those concussions are gonna start adding up.

Allie: I knew I liked you. But this jake really is becoming a pain in my ass. And back in philly, he had so much promise.

Evan: What do we do with him?

Allie: Well, he wasn’t part of the plan, but since he’s here, he may as well make himself useful.

Susan: Elvis must be right. My psychic powers are on the fritz. I just need some rest.

[Soft music]

I feel it in my bones. And you must have jumped out of dr. Marlena evans and into my sweet johnny during the exorcism. And you can’t fool me. You can’t, not anymore.

Demon johnny: Oh. I guess you’re not as dumb as you look.

Susan: It’s you. Beelzebub, I knew it, I knew it.

Demon johnny: Congratulations, susie Q. You figured it out. So now what are you gonna do about it?

Susan: Oh, oh sweet dear baby jesus. Oh, my grandbaby johnny. Oh, he’s gone and gotten himself possessed by the devil.

Belle: Did susan say why she thinks johnny’s in danger?

Ej: She kept insisting that he didn’t write the letter he left behind before he went to italy.

Belle: Well, did she happen to say who she thought wrote it?

Ej: She insists my brother, andre, did, which would be quite the accomplishment given that andre’s been dead for years.

Andre: You may have saved johnny roman’s life, but now I’m going to end yours.

Johnny: If you kill ben, you’ll be making a big mistake.

Andre: And why is that?

Ciara: Well, that was a bust. Marlena said that she hasn’t heard from– evan.

Evan: Hey, ciara. I was just catching up with an old friend.

Ciara: Ben.

Evan: You can scream if you want to; he won’t hear you.

Ciara: What did you do to him?

Evan: What does it look like? I killed your husband.

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

Belle: Well, susan’s your mom, and you obviously know her better than I do, but what if she’s right?

Ej: You think andre could have written johnny’s letter?

Belle: Well, I’m just saying that the reports around andre’s death tend to be exaggerated.

Ej: At first, she was convinced that tony did it. When I said that was impossible, she latched onto the idea that it was andre.

Belle: So she’s just grasping at straws?

Ej: All this talk of demonic possession seems to have gotten to her. Hopefully, a good night’s rest will get her sorted out.

Susan: I don’t understand. Why can’t I remember any of this? Heavenly father, I come to you as humbly as I know how. Now, if you can see fit to bring back your servant susan’s memory, well, then maybe I can save my elvis’s young ‘un from the hateful powers of the evil one. Okay. Well, in the name of the father, and the son, and the holy spirit. You’re not gonna get away with this. You are not gonna get away with this because you know what? You can slam doors to my face, but I am gonna go straight downstairs, and I am gonna tell elvis everything.

Demon johnny: You know what?

Susan: You’re gonna let me go?

[Dramatic music]

Demon johnny: And what are you gonna tell him?

Susan: I’m going to tell him that I’m leaving salem.

Demon johnny: When?

Susan: Tonight.

Demon johnny: Excellent, why?

Susan: Because roger needs me.

Demon johnny: He sure does. Well, I’m gonna help you pack your bags.

Susan: Okey dokey. You’re such a sweet boy.

Demon johnny: Yeah.

Susan: Ah, that’s why I was all fuzzy in the head. Oh, that mean, mean, mean, old devil. He touched my forehead, that’s what he did. And he made me forget he possessed my johnny.

Andre: Well, isn’t this touching? You made a little friend here in the family crypt. But unfortunately, your kinship is about to come to a short end.

Johnny: Why would you wanna strangle ben weston? The guy’s a stone cold killer. Don’t tell me you and your boss couldn’t use somebody like him.

Andre: I have my orders.

Johnny: He’s the necktie killer. You were the salem slasher. Think about all the damage you two could do in this town, the world. Or maybe the great andre dimera isn’t allowed to think for himself anymore. Maybe he’s just been turned into the devil’s little errand boy.

Tripp: Mmm, this is like the best sandwich I’ve ever had.

Chanel: Mm, please, please. Not sandwich, okay? We call it a ham and cheese croissant, monsieur.

Tripp: Mais oui. I stand corrected. And you can make these things?

Chanel: It is an awesome power, but I try to keep it under control.

Tripp: I mean, you are a wiz, dupree. Is that weird me calling you that? I know that’s what allie used to call you.

Chanel: No, it’s my last name; anyone can call me that. And besides, I am done letting things that remind me of her get to me.

Tripp: You know what, me too actually. You know, for the longest time, it was hard for me to even hear her name. Looking at pictures of her was the worst.

Chanel: But it’s better now?

Tripp: Well, I don’t look at pictures of her anymore. So that helps. And as for hearing her name, no, I’m totally okay with it now.

Chanel: Me too. Allie horton has caused us both enough misery, right? It’s time for it to stop, yeah?

Tripp: Definitely.

Ciara: No, no, no, no, no. This is not real. This is not real, it can’t be.

Evan: I hate to break it to you, babe, but it’s totally real.

Ciara: Evan, you are supposed to be in prison.

Evan: I bet that made you and hubby’s day, sending me to statesville. I was locked up, and the necktie killer was playing house with the brady princess. Well, that’s all over now.

Ciara: Ben? Ben, wake up. Baby, please wake up. Baby, it’s me. Ben. Ben, please wake up. Please wake up.

Evan: You’re wasting your breath. Guy’s dead, and you’re next.

Ciara: Ben, ben. Allie?

Allie: What happened to ben? Who was that guy with the knife?

Ciara: He’s orpheus’s son. He’s an escaped convict.

Allie: Why did he have a knife on you?

Ciara: I will explain later, but right now we have to help ben. He tried to strangle him. Oh, my god, allie, he’s so cold. Oh, my god, please let him be–

Allie: Ciara, I’M…

Ciara: Please let him be okay.

Allie: I’m so sorry, but he doesn’t have a pulse.

Ciara: Don’t say that, no. Oh, my god. Please, god, please, god.

Allie: This is out of god’s hands now. I’m sorry ciara, but ben’s gone.

Ciara: No.

Andre: I’d watched my tongue if I were you. You may have been my father’s favorite when he was alive, but he’s dead, and I’m undead.

Johnny: Okay, I didn’t mean any disrespect, andre. I just thought I should remind you of what a lethal duo the two of you could be. Your black feathers, his necktie, great visual. Could be bigger than “halloween kills,” you know, with me writing and directing, of course. So what do you say?

Andre: Oh, please. I’m sorry, old boy. I’m not interested.

Belle: When was the last time you talked to johnny?

Ej: We haven’t spoken since before I was sent to statesville.

Belle: Really? Wow, is that unusual for you two to be out of touch that long?

Ej: You’re appalled, aren’t you?

Belle: Appalled? No, why would I be? Ej, I know that your relationship with johnny is complicated.

Ej: And that’s just a euphemistic way of saying I’m a terrible father.

Belle: What? Wow, no, I’m sorry I triggered you like that. All I did was ask if you talked to johnny recently.

Ej: I know, I know. It wasn’t about your question. It was my guilt. I often feel that my son is a stranger to me. Maybe it’s because he reminds me so much of samantha. I see her in his smile, in his feistiness, if you will. And because her and i are now estranged, it makes me feel all the more distanced from my son. But I won’t give up. I hope to earn my son’s respect. Eventually. Anyways, I’ve contacted him numerous times. No response.

Belle: So the only proof you have that johnny’s okay is a letter that susan’s convinced he didn’t write?

Ej: I know my mother’s premonitions have been accurate at times, but this one was so vague I–

Susan: Oh, oh, my god! I know why, I know why! It wasn’t a premonition. It was a memory. Johnny isn’t just in trouble. Elvis, remember when I told you it was the work of the devil?

Ej: Yes.

Susan: Okay, I was wrong. I was wrong, wrong, wrong. It’s not the work of the devil. It is him, oh! Our johnny is the devil himself.

Ciara: You’re wrong, allie. Ben always comes back to me. He always comes back. What are you doing just sitting there–go call an ambulance or something.

Allie: Ciara, ciara. It wouldn’t help.

Ciara: Fine. Then I’ll do it myself.

Allie: Ciara, ciara. That guy is starting to wake up. We need to get out of here now.

Ciara: I’m not leaving him. Allie, I can’t leave him.

Allie: Listen, listen, listen, listen, listen. You need to think about yourself right now. You need to take care of yourself and your baby. When I came in, that guy had a knife on you. You need to let me get you out of here, okay? Come on, it’s okay.

Ciara: Ben, ben, I love you.

[Soft music]

Ej: What are you saying, mother?

Susan: Belle, I’m so sorry that I believed that you became satan’s vessel.

Belle: No, you did see a 666 on the back of my coat.

Susan: Yes, because that is what the devil wanted me to see. I mean, he set you up.

Belle: You know, the only other person that was here that day was johnny.

Susan: Right, right. And he was at dr. Marlena evans’ exorcism too, and when the devil left her body that night–

Ej: He took over johnny’s?

Belle: Yeah.

Ej: That’s ridiculous.

Belle: No, ej, wait. You know what, that’s not ridiculous because if what susan is saying is true, then that would explain why I don’t have the gaps in my memory that my mom did.

Susan: That’s right, that’s right, that’s right because satan wasn’t using you to do his evil bidding. It was johnny.

Johnny: Uncle andre, you’re not thinking this through.

Andre: Will you please shut up and let me get on with this?

Johnny: Andre, listen to me. Wasn’t it bad enough growing up in stefano’s shadow? And now what, you’re doing the devil’s dirty work too? Come on. You were the one that made kids in this town scared of the dark for like 30 years.

Andre: 40 years, if you don’t mind.

Johnny: Just take a minute, a minute and think about how you’ll be remembered. If you force ben weston to go on a killing spree with you, they’ll be telling stories about andre dimera for the next hundred years. Forget about jack the ripper.

Andre: It’s tedious, forever banging on his what, five victims?

Johnny: Hey, you could put him away. Why would you strangle ben weston when you could make him wanna kill again?

[Dramatic music]

Chanel: Interesting, isn’t it, how we’ve bonded over being hurt by the same person?

Tripp: We do have that in common. But I do admit that it does feel really good to be able to vent to someone who totally gets it.

Chanel: Yeah, it does. It really helps.

Tripp: Yeah, and you know what, I think I’m going to hit the gym before I go on duty.

Chanel: Oh, you’re gonna exercise so soon after eating?

Tripp: Who’s the doctor here? And besides, I need to work off the 12 million calories that was in that croissant.

Chanel: Come on. It wasn’t that big.

Tripp: Ah, it was great. But next time, lunch is on me.

[Cell phone rings] Hey, rafe, what’s up?

Rafe: Hey, can you possibly come over to nicole’s and watch henry till she gets back?

Tripp: Where’s allie?

Rafe: Nicole got a text, said she had something important to deal with.

Tripp: More important than her kid?

Rafe: Yeah, I hear you, but I’ve gotta get to work. I got a case I gotta handle myself.

Tripp: Okay. Yeah, I’ll be right there. So much for the gym.

Chanel: Why did you ask him about allie?

Rafe: He’s alone with henry, and he has to leave. He said that allie texted nicole some lame excuse about something to coming up.

Chanel: That’s exactly what she did the night before she broke up with me.

Tripp: Yeah, something bad enough she treated you like crap. Now she’s neglecting her son?

Ciara: This is a mistake. Allie, we should have stayed. You’re not an expert in taking pulses. What if ben is alive, and he’s just in shock, and he needs my help? He needs me. Turn this car around, allie. We’re going back.

Allie: We cannot go back. Okay, ben’s killer is still on the loose, and he wants you too. Ben would want me to get you as far away from that maniac as possible.

Evan: [Groaning] Crazy bitch must have turned on me. Really wanted to kill wes and the wife myself. I feel cheated. I really should get out of here before the cops show up.

[Tense music]

Belle: Okay, so the devil wiped out your memory of realizing that he was in johnny?

Susan: Yes, yes. Clean as a whistle.

Ej: So let me get this straight, the devil possessed johnny, then convinced him that italy was lovely this time of year.

Susan: Yeah, but johnny isn’t in italy any more than you and I are, elvis. And he didn’t write that dang letter. Johnny is still here in salem. I know it.

Belle: Yeah, then we better find him.

Susan: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, but I read the letter. I read the letter, and it was all highfalutin.

Ej: Hm, I noticed that myself. It started out, “my dearest family.” And he referred to himself as a dilettante.

Susan: But johnny doesn’t talk that way, and you know it. Sounds more like who? Andre dimera.

Ej: Mother, andre’s dead.

Susan: I love you elvis, but right now you are really getting on my nerves. Who stays dead in this town, huh?

Belle: Okay, let’s suppose you’re right. Where do we start looking?

Susan: Wh–ooh! Prince of darkness has a favorite spot. Oh, and it’s where he tormented john black and myself, and it is right out back.

Ej: You’re saying johnny’s been in the family crypt all this time?

Susan: Yes, let’s go. Let’s go, come on. Okay, this is a freezer, not a time capsule.

Belle: Okay, she’s right, ej. My dad told me all about the crypt. You have to go check it out. Listen, I’ll stay here. I’ll call eric. Because if johnny is possessed, there’s gonna have to be an exorcism.

Ej: Ugh, I can’t believe we’re talking like this. I thought this whole devil possession thing was some sort of mass hysteria or something.

Susan: Elvis, honey, I keep telling you it is for real.

Ej: [Sighs] Then we’ll go to the crypt.

Susan: Finally! Oh, let’s get a move on. Come on, come on. It’s gonna be us who’s gonna have to stop that devil before he ruins any more lives. All right, come on, whoo!

Ciara: Where are you going? We should be headed towards the police station. We should be looking out for christian and sending help for ben.

Allie: You’re absolutely right, okay. I’ll call rafe.

[Dramatic music]

Hey, rafe, it’s allie. I’m here with ciara.

Rafe: Thank god, is she okay?

Allie: She’s fine. Yeah, but she said that christian maddox broke into her apartment and hit ben over the head.

Rafe: I already know. I’m in ciara’s apartment right now.

Ciara: Please tell me you got there in time to help him.

Rafe: The emts have already been here. I’m so sorry, ciara.

Ciara: Oh, my god.

Rafe: It was too late.

Ciara: Oh, my god, ben.

Allie: Should we come back to the apartment?

Rafe: Not with maddox on the loose. Take ciara somewhere safe until we catch him.

Allie: Do you have any ideas on somewhere safe?

Rafe: How about the horton cabin? I’ll send a couple uniforms out there to watch the place.

Allie: Okay, rafe. Whatever you say. It’s gonna be okay.

Ciara: Nothing’s ever gonna be okay.

Allie: You have to think of your baby now. I’m gonna take good care of you two for ben.

Ciara: Oh, my god, ben.

Rafe: Jake, jake?

Jake: Yeah.

Rafe: Hey, who did this to you?

Jake: I don’t know.

Jake: There was a knock at the door. I answered it, and i recognized–I think it’s the guy who locked up ciara.

Rafe: Christian maddox? He escaped from prison tonight. Was it him?

Jake: No, it was somebody else. Oh, my head hurts.

Rafe: Hey, where are ben and ciara, huh? Does he have them? Jake, jake. Hey, hey, hey, jake. Stay with me, hey, hey, jake.

Andre: I can see why you got along well with those hollywood types. You learned the art of the elevator pitch.

Johnny: Does that mean you decided not to kill ben?

Andre: Yes, it does. But I did promise the master a kill. So I’m afraid your dreams of movie stardom are coming to an end. But do say ciao to nonno for me, will you?

Ben: Let him go! Let him go!

Ej: Get your bloody hands off my son!

Andre: Oh, what’s happening?

Ej: Johnny, are you all right?

Johnny: Thank god you’re here.

Ben: He was trying to kill him.

Andre: It’s me, it’s tony. I’ve been possessed by the devil.

Ej: It’s really you?

[Dramatic music]

Mother, what the hell have you done?

Susan: It was not tony dimera. That was his evil doppelganger, andre.

Johnny: [Coughs] Stuff. We love stuff.

Susan: Whew. I knew I was taking a kind of chance. But if that was tony dimera, he’d be laying there in a pool of blood. Lucky for us, it was just a demon from the fiery pits of hell. Ashes to ashes, crappy dog.

Ej: You saved my son’s life. I don’t know how to thank you.

Johnny: Can somebody get me out of these chains?

Ben: Yeah, me too please. I need to go get ciara.

Ej: Of course. Keys are right here. I’m so sorry I didn’t figure this out earlier. Thank god you’re still alive.

Johnny: I was pretty damn scared.

Ej: Yeah.

Susan: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Hi, ben, hi, ben. It’s really good to see you.

Ben: It is really good to see you too, susan. Very good to see you, but could you please work a little bit faster? I need to get the hell out of here.

Ej: Do you have the energy to walk?

Johnny: I’m gonna have to have it; I gotta find chanel.

Susan: Oh, oh, oh, oh, no. You are not gonna go anywhere until we know that you are not still possessed.

Johnny: Grandma, if I was satan, how would I have been chained up down here all this time?

Susan: And if the devil really wanted us to know that, he might just say that to us.

Ben: He’s telling the truth. Johnny’s not possessed anymore. The devil’s moved on.

Ej: Who now?

Ciara: Wait, this doesn’t make sense.

Allie: Life doesn’t make sense sometimes.

Ciara: No, allie. If ben were dead, if ben were really dead, I would feel it inside of me. I know I would. That is how connected we are.

Allie: Well, you’re probably just in shock, okay? Can’t feel anything yet. How about you just lie back, close your eyes.

Ciara: Close my eyes, really?

Allie: All this stress, it’s not good for the baby, ciara. We’ll be at the cabin soon, and then you can lie down.

Ciara: Yeah, what difference would that make?

Allie: You’ll feel better.

Ciara: Not without ben. Allie, if he really is gone, I’m never gonna feel good again.

Tripp: Thanks for covering for me, buddy. I owe you. Yeah, I’ll be there soon as I can. Thanks. Hey, henry asleep?

Chanel: Out like a light. “Goodnight moon” works every time.

Tripp: Thank you for coming with me. Henry hasn’t seen me in a while, and I was afraid he might be scared of me.

Chanel: He’s the sweetest little boy.

Tripp: He is. I miss him so much.

Chanel: Yeah, well, he definitely wasn’t scared of you. He smiled so big when he saw you.

Tripp: That did make me feel good.

Chanel: You know, I can’t believe that allie said she was too busy to watch her own little boy.

Tripp: Yeah, it seems totally unlike her, right? Chanel, do you have any idea what’s going on with her? I’m starting to worry that, you know, things have gotten to be too much for her.

Chanel: How do you mean?

Tripp: Everything she’s been through. Like realizing she’d been raped. Having henry at such a young age. Her parents taking off. What happened between her and me.

Chanel: Me and johnny didn’t make things any easier.

Tripp: The first time I met the guy, he wanted to know how I liked being with someone who kisses other girls. And he said that in front of allie.

Chanel: And then he set his sights on me, and I fell for it. It was all pretty messy. Thank god my mom stopped us from sleeping together, or things would’ve gotten a lot messier.

Tripp: Sex when drunk has a way of not working out.

Chanel: Yeah, falling into bed would’ve ruined our chances of ever being you know, friends.

[Cell phone beeps] Is that allie?

Tripp: No, it’s nicole. Holly’s dance class is over, and they’re on their way here. I can drop you at your car on the way to the hospital if you want.

Chanel: Actually, would you mind if I went with you? I’d like to visit lani.

Tripp: Not at all. I’d like the company. Especially since it’s yours.

Ej: The devil went from you into your sister?

Johnny: Yeah. She locked me up in here.

Susan: Ah, poor allie.

Ben: Susan, could you please get me out of these damn things. Please.

Susan: You know the key is not turning.

Johnny: Look, we need to get allie some help, and i need to see chanel.

Ej: And you will, but you’re going to the hospital first.

Susan: And same with you, big fella–oh, my goodness. I mean, you look pretty beat up yourself.

Ben: I don’t, and we do not have time to worry about me. Last night, allie came to my house, and she gave me something that knocked me out. Next thing I knew, I woke up here, and who the hell knows what she did to ciara. I just have to find her before it’s too late.

Ciara: Ben.

Allie: [Humming]

Ciara: Please stop that.

Allie: I know you don’t believe this, but I am going to take such good care of you.

[Dramatic music]

Belle: [Scoffs] I don’t understand. You’re supposed to be in prison.

Jan: Shawn came to my rescue. He convinced them to let me out of there.

[Groans] And then, uh, he asked me to move in with him.

Shawn: No, that is not how it went down.

Belle: Oh, really? How did it go down?

Shawn: Jan has a medical condition which requires her to be in bed rest for the duration of her pregnancy.

Belle: So? She can’t rest in her bed at statesville?

Jan: It’s not very restful there. Or safe.

Shawn: Look, they had her in the infirmary and I spoke to the warden and they said they couldn’t guarantee that she was gonna get the proper care that she needed.

Belle: Okay, so the warden agreed to let her out?

Shawn: He and the judge. They agreed to put her on house arrest.

Belle: Our house?

Jan: I can’t tell you how grateful I am to be here. It was so stressful to be pregnant and in prison. I mean, that place, it’s just– it’s full of dangerous, unsavory characters.

Allie: I don’t know if you’ve heard, but ben and ciara are having a baby.

Evan: Yeah. Before he got out, clyde mentioned it about a hundred times.

Allie: Proud grandpa, huh?

Evan: [Chuckles] Sure.

Allie: Well, that baby boy is very important to me. And as you might imagine, it’s also important to ben. But our plans for that kid’s future don’t really… align.

Ej: Johnny, it’s your father. Again, sorry to disrupt your journey of self-discovery, but I need you to sign back over my dimera shares. Also… I miss you, son, and I would like to hear from you, so please call me back.

[Soft tense music]

[Banging on door]

Johnny: Do you hear that? It’s–somebody’s coming! We’re saved!

[Wood splinters]

Andre: Hello, boys. Now… what’s with all the commotion?

Ciara: Ben? Ben, are you home? Where is your father, baby? He’s not at the garage like he said he’d be.

[Knock at door]

Jake: Hey.

Ciara: Jake. [Sighs]

Jake: Is ben here? I need to talk to you guys.

Ciara: No, actually. Ben is not here.

Jake: You know where he is?

Ciara: I do not. I just woke up this morning, and he was gone.

Jake: Gone?

Ciara: Gone. I’ve been looking all over for him, jake. I’ve been looking everywhere, but it’s like– it’s like he disappeared into thin air. I don’t know. I’m starting to think something really bad has happened to him.

Ben: Tony! Hey! Thank god you’re here. You gotta get us out of these chains.

Johnny: Ben.

Ben: Look, do you have maybe the keys or–or a hacksaw or something?

Johnny: Save your breath.

Ben: [Stutters] Ciara needs me right now. The devil is after her and our baby, and she needs me right now, tony.

Johnny: He’s not gonna set us free.

Ben: What? Why not?

Johnny: Because that’s not tony.

Ben: What are you talking about? I know your uncle when I see him.

Andre: I am his uncle… but regretfully, not the one you think.

Ben: Wait, what? What are you saying?

Andre: Andre dimera at your service. If you haven’t tried dawn powerwash dish spray,

Belle: Why would you do this? Why would you move jan spears into our home?

Shawn: It’s the only way that I could get her out of there. I promised that she was gonna be living in a house with a cop, so I could keep a close eye on her.

Jan: Not that I can get into any trouble with this thing on. And, you know, bed rest.

Belle: So you didn’t think to run this by me before moving her in here?

Shawn: Belle, you haven’t been living here.

Belle: I didn’t move out! I went to stay with my parents!

Shawn: Yeah, but for how long? I mean, last time we spoke, you said you didn’t want to come home.

Belle: Well, obviously, I changed my mind.

Shawn: Really? Wait, that’s why you’re back?

Belle: Eric convinced me to come home and try and work things out, but obviously, that was a huge mistake.

Ej: Yes, I’m well aware I’m no longer in charge of the company, but I’m still a dimera, and my son is on the board, and I need your help to track him down. You’re the head of security, for god’s sake.

[Scoffs] You know what? Someday soon, I’m going to be ceo again, and when that happens, the first thing I’m going to do is fire your disloyal ass and make sure you never work again!

Susan: Oh! Elvis, jr! My goodness, you need to do something about that anger! It’s gonna eat you up!

Ej: Mother, when did you get back into town?

Andre: [Chuckles] And it worked like a charm. Now everybody thinks that my little nephew here has gone to europe to find himself. I just love all these dark powers at my disposal.

Ben: So why are you here this time? What the hell does the devil want with us now?

Ciara: So allie found this note on the floor.

Jake: Did you go to the garage?

Ciara: Yeah. He didn’t show up there at all. I even asked clyde if he’s seen him, but no. I don’t suppose you’ve heard from him?

Jake: No, I’m sorry.

Ciara: [Sighs] What if he got into a car accident on his way to work? Last night, allie came over to drop off this tea that’s supposed to help me sleep, and it worked. It knocked me completely out. And ben also had some, so what if he was driving to work this morning, and he fell asleep behind the wheel, and he’s hurt, lying in a ditch somewhere?

Jake: Who are you calling?

Ciara: I’m calling the police.

Evan: I don’t get it. What do you want with ciara’s baby?

Allie: Does it matter?

Evan: I’m a father. As much as I hate ben and ciara, I would never do anything to harm a child.

Andre: Yes, a chance for ben to reunite with his wife and his unborn child.

Ben: Andre, I am sure that there is some other way.

Johnny: Yeah, maybe something that doesn’t result in my death?

Andre: Well, that’s the deal, and the terms are not negotiable.

Johnny: Why does the devil want me dead?

Andre: Because he likes to clean up after himself, and he’s so over you. But as far as ben is concerned, he’s just getting started.

Ciara: Johnny wasn’t possessed by the devil. Belle was. I mean, you know that. Her own parents performed her exorcism.

Jake: No, right, I know, but it’s just, I’ve been having these…. these flashes.

Ciara: What kind of flashes?

Jake: Well, they’re kind of like dreams, but they’re happening more and more, and so now I’m starting to think that they’re memories.

Ciara: Okay. Memories of what, exactly?

Jake: Johnny with these creepy, glowing eyes.

Ciara: Um, are you sure that’s what you saw?

Jake: Yeah, it was the day that johnny and gabi pulled that whole hostile takeover at dimera, that whole power move, all right? Johnny and I ended up fighting. I ended up on the ground, and now, I’m starting to piece together how I got there. And are you sure this is a real memory?

Jake: I don’t know why my brain would make it up.

Ciara: Um, well, I know you don’t like johnny. He and gabi pulled some really shady stuff with you, so maybe this is your subconscious trying to come up with a reason to make him a bad guy.

Jake: Or maybe my nephew was possessed, and if he was, then that means the devil’s still here.

Evan: You’re going to break me out?

Allie: Well, we need to convince ciara you offed her husband. Bit hard to do that when you’re stuck in here.

Ciara: Hmm. That is entirely possible. Um… I’m gonna go to the hospital to check on that.

Jake: Yeah.

Ciara: Yeah.

Jake: Want me to stay here in case he comes back?

Ciara: Yeah. Yeah, jake, that would be amazing. Thank you.

Jan: Shawn, you are a detective. You were the acting police commissioner. If anyone can guarantee that I won’t be a danger to the public, it’s you.

Shawn: Yeah, sorry, it’s not gonna happen. You’re exactly where you belong, jan.

Jan: Didn’t you hear what the doctor said? I need to be on total bed rest.

Shawn: Okay, well, then just stay in bed.

Jan: And how is that possible when every prisoner has to be up by six, in the cafeteria by seven, and back to our cells for inspection by eight?

Shawn: Well, I’m sure the prison will make some accommodations for you.

Jan: Yeah, have you seen this place? Do they seem accommodating?

Shawn: Well, then I’ll talk to the warden. I’ll see if you can stay here in the infirmary until the baby’s born.

Jan: Are you kidding? Shawn, do you know how many diseases are flying around this place? It’s like a cough factory. Besides, I’m not exactly everyone’s favorite prisoner.

Shawn: Now, that’s a big surprise.

Jan: I’m just saying I don’t trust these creeps to take care of my baby. Sooner or later, they’ll find a way to get me back into my cell. Do you really want to take that kind of a chance with your child’s life?

Belle: Yeah, it all happened really fast and, honestly, it’s still a blur. I’m just grateful that dad knew what to do.

Eric: Yeah. He had to learn the hard way.

Belle: Yeah. And I did a lot of terrible things. I tried to break up chad and abigail and gabi and jake–

Eric: You are not responsible for any of that.

Belle: Well, I feel like I was. Although, it’s so strange knowing that I did all of those things, but not remembering it, it–

Eric: It’s all gone?

Belle: Well, one minute I was downstairs at the dimera mansion talking to johnny and the next minute I’m upstairs tied to a bed and everyone’s telling me I’ve been possessed.

Eric: Mom said after she was possessed by the devil that there were like these gaps in her memory, like she lost chunks of time.

Belle: Right. And that’s what’s so strange because I didn’t lose any time, at all.

Tripp: So, are you as hungover as I am?

Chanel: I don’t know. Do you feel like your tongue grew three sizes overnight?

Tripp: No. I woke up feeling like someone was hammering on my head but from the inside.

Chanel: Oh, god, same.

Tripp: Yeah. Well, lucky for you, I come bearing dr. Tripp johnson’s surefire hangover cure.

Chanel: Oh, yes, I can definitely use a coffee.

Tripp: No, no. This coffee’s actually for me. This is for you.

Chanel: Oh, what’s in there?

Tripp: It’s an electrolyte replacement drink. So, it’s vitamin-infused water, blended with a banana for potassium, raspberries for vitamin c, kefir, ginseng juice.

Chanel: Okay, I’d rather have the coffee.

Tripp: No, you wouldn’T. The coffee dehydrates you.

Chanel: Okay, but you’re drinking it and you just said that you were just as hungover as I am.

Tripp: I was until I downed one of these amazing electrolyte drinks and then I was a totally new person, ready to face the world.

Chanel: Hmm. Just like that.

Tripp: Trust me, this is years of experience talking.

Chanel: Oh, they taught you hangover cures at medical school?

Tripp: No, not in class, but more like trial and error. It was a fair amount of post-exam celebrating which involved a fair amount of over-indulging. So, drink it. Trust me, I promise after you down this, you’ll be rarin’ to go and you’ll forget last night ever even happened.

Ben: So the devil is in allie?

Johnny: Yeah, he is now.

Ben: But jake was right. You were possessed that entire time?

Johnny: Since christmas.

Ben: And you don’t remember any of it at all?

Johnny: No, I don’T. I don’t remember anything from my grandmother’s exorcism until the moment the devil left me.

Ben: Well, how the hell did you get free?

Johnny: Allie saved me. She was talking to me, she was trying to reach out, begging me to fight, to resist the devil. And I did, I fought. I was winning. And then he just– I don’t know, he must’ve jumped from me into my sister.

Ben: And she’s the one who chained us both up?

Johnny: Yeah, she’s hella strong.

Ben: What would the devil want with her?

Johnny: Man, I– I don’t think he’s interested in allie at all. You see, I think–

Ben: What? Say it, johnny!

Johnny: I think he wants what he’s always wanted.

Ben: Ciara. And our baby.

Ciara: Were these here last night? Why can’t I remember?

[Knock at door] Allie.

Allie: Good morning, cuz. I figured you and ben would still be tried, so I brought breakfast. I hope you guys are hungry.

Ciara: Well, that is very sweet of you. Thank you, but ben is not here.

Allie: He isn’t?

Ciara: Yeah, I don’t know where he is. He wasn’t here when I woke up.

Allie: Oh. That’s weird.

Ciara: Yeah, I mean, the last thing I remember was him taking me to bed last night after we all drank the tea. And– do you–do you know what happened after that?

Allie: Last night? Let’s see. Like you said, you were pretty tired, so ben put you to bed. I hung out for a little while. Ben and I had some tea, ourselves. We talked about parenting. And then I headed out pretty soon after.

Ciara: And that’s it?

Allie: Yeah. He was pretty tired so I let him rest.

Ciara: That’s weird because I don’t remember him coming to bed.

Allie: Well, you were really wiped.

Ciara: Yeah, but I am a very light sleeper. I always wake up when he comes into bed, and I always wake up when he gets out of bed. I’m gonna call him.

Allie: Good idea.

[Line ringing]

[Beep]

Ciara: Straight to voicemail. Hm.

Johnny: Hey, dude, you’re gonna hurt yourself. Ben, you’re gonna hurt yourself!

Ben: I have to get out of here. I have to get to ciara.

Johnny: Look, man, I get it, believe me. These chains are unbreakable. I’ve tried. My wrists are rubbed raw.

Ben: He’s after my wife and my baby!

Johnny: Yeah, and before that, he went after the woman I loved and he used me to do it.

Ben: What, chanel? You’re talking about how you dumped her at a party?

Johnny: That wasn’t me! It was him! And the devil wanted to make it stick so he called her as me and taunted her about it. And now she hates me. And I don’t blame her. I mean, I hurt her in the worst way possible. Now she’s off doing god knows what with tripp.

Ben: How do you know that?

Johnny: Well, allie– the devil, gave me my own private screening. They were drinking together at a bar.

Ben: Chanel was probably drowning her sorrows.

Johnny: No, they were doing a hell of a lot more than that. For all I know, they spent the night together.

Tripp: Feel better?

Chanel: I don’t think it works that fast.

Tripp: Just keep hydrating.

Chanel: Is this your new side hustle, hangover cures, peddling them?

Tripp: Well, first of all, since I paid for everything, no, it’s not much of a hustle. Actually, I came here to apologize.

Chanel: Apologize for what?

Tripp: Last night.

Chanel: Why? What did you do?

Tripp: Well, I got drunk and kissed you. And then I took you home hoping to get you into bed.

Chanel: Well, if you haven’t forgotten, I was drunk too and I’m pretty sure that I was down to party. And, if I recall correctly, I’m the one who had the idea. So, yeah, I think the only reason we didn’t go through with it was because my mom stopped us.

Tripp: Yeah. And I’m actually kind of glad she did.

Chanel: Gee, thanks.

Tripp: I didn’t mean it like that, okay? I meant that if we had gone through with it, we’d be doing it for all the wrong reasons.

Chanel: Revenge, right? Making johnny and allie pay for how much they hurt us.

Tripp: Yeah, and you know what the sad thing is? I’m not even sure they’d care.

Eric: You just told me that you don’t remember any of the things you did while you were possessed?

Belle: That’s true. I only know about any of it because of what people told me. I don’t feel like I lost my memory.

Eric: I’m sorry, I just don’t understand.

Belle: Okay. The way mom described it, she would wake up and days and weeks would passed, right?

Eric: Right. And that didn’t happen to you?

Belle: No. Between christmas and the time that I woke up tied to that bed in the dimera mansion, except for the last few hours, I remember all of it. At least I think I do.

Eric: Well, maybe when you were first possessed the devil didn’t have control yet.

Belle: But there were times when the devil would have to had control. To do the damage he did. Like when he took ej’s form or jake’s form.

Eric: Using bodies.

Belle: I mean, that’s what I was told. But it’s not like I came to and realized I was missing time or I didn’t know where I was.

Eric: I mean, maybe it was trying to smooth out the gaps while you weren’t even aware it was happening.

Belle: I mean, anything’s possible I guess.

Eric: Well, anyway, the only thing that matters is that you’re home now and safe. Just hope that you can put that terrible chapter behind you and move on with your life.

Belle: Unfortunately, as much as I wish I could pretend none of this happened and I could just move on, like you said, the devil just did so much damage. He hurt so many people. And this is damage that can’t just be forgotten or repaired that easily. Especially the relationships he wrecked. None more so than my own marriage.

Jan: I’m not delusional, shawn.

Shawn: Well, that’s debatable.

Jan: I can see how you’re looking at me. And I know how you feel about me. I can live with that.

Shawn: Really? Because that’s news to me.

Jan: No matter how much may dislike me, you would never take that out on an innocent child. Especially not your innocent child. That’s not who you are. You’re a good man, shawn. You always have been. Which is why I know that no matter how this child was conceived, you would never want any harm to come to him or her. And for me, well, knowing that I’m going to be a mother, something in me just– it just switched. Maybe because for the first time in my life, somebody’s depending on me. So I feel like I have purpose. And I want to do everything that I can to protect this baby, to care for it, to love it. So if something were to happen in here, I don’t think I could live with that. Could you? Shawn? Can you please talk to the warden? I’m not asking you to do it for me, but for my baby. Our baby.

Eric: Mom told me.

Belle: Mm-hmm. Did she also tell you that I’m staying with her and dad?

Eric: How does shawn feel about that?

Belle: I mean, he wants me to come home, of course.

Eric: Are you going to?

Belle: Well, I was thinking about it, but then we started discussing it and I just– oh, god.

Eric: What?

Belle: Jan called. So I left. I’m sure he went to the prison to go talk to her.

Eric: Listen, I know this is the last thing that you want to hear right now, but–

Belle: I know what you’re gonna say that shawn’s baby and so I should just accept it because I love him.

Eric: That’s not what I was going to say. I was going to say that if shawn has to be there for jan because of the baby, it’s not because he loves her. Or he ever will. Belle, he loves you.

Belle: I know that. But jan is the mother of his child, which means she’s going to be in our lives forever. How do I deal with that? Does a marriage survive that?

Ben: Allie was in our apartment last night. She brought over some kind of tea that she told ciara helped her sleep while she was pregnant. So ciara drank some of it. She got really tired. I took her off to bed. I came back, I started talking to allie, and–

Johnny: Did you drink the tea?

Ben: She drugged the both of us, johnny.

Johnny: Yeah, were you were pretty out of it when she brought you in here.

Ben: Damn it, man! Ciara must’ve woken up in our bed this morning wondering where the hell I am and where the hell I could’ve gone.

Ciara: Hey, baby, please, please call me back once you get this. Okay, love you. Why is he not answering?

Allie: I’m sure he’s just busy. You know, working under a car.

Ciara: I hope so. I think I’m going to go to the garage to check on him. Thank you so much for stopping by.

Allie: Oh, what’s this?

Ciara: Where did you find that?

Allie: It must’ve fallen on the floor.

Ciara: Is it from ben?

Allie: “Woke up early. Didn’t want to wake you. Have a good time with allie. Love, ben.” So sweet.

Ciara: How did he know you were going to be here this morning?

Allie: I told him last night that I was going to be checking on you this morning. Oh, which reminds me, I have something else for you.

Ciara: Allie, you did not have to bring me anything.

Allie: No, it is no big deal. What do you think?

Ciara: That is really cute.

Allie: It was henry’S. Can you believe how small this is? I mean, it’s hard to imagine that he fit into this at one point.

Ciara: I love it. Thank you.

Allie: I have so many clothes that he’s outgrown. And don’t feel pressured to take them all, but you could start with a full wardrobe. And I also have toys and bottles and they’re all yours.

Ciara: That is very thoughtful of you.

Allie: But I should’ve asked first, right? I mean, you don’t want all these hand-me-downs. You probably want to shop for your little boy yourself.

Ciara: No, no, this is– these are great.

Allie: No, I’ve made it all awkward.

Ciara: You have not made it awkward. Please.

Allie: I think it’s just my pregnancy was overwhelming and really scary. I wasn’t even ready to be a mom, I didn’t want to be a mom at first. So I think seeing you and ben, seeing your joy, your hopefulness, it gives me a taste of what I didn’t have. I guess I just want to be a part of it.

Ciara: Allie, you are so sweet. And I love that you want to be a part of it. And ben and I will be more than grateful for you to join us in this journey. Come here. Oh.

Chanel: If we’re being honest, I’m the one who should be apologizing to you.

Tripp: For what?

Chanel: Oh, I don’t know, stealing your girlfriend.

Tripp: Ah. That. Yeah.

Chanel: I was supposed to be your friend and I kind of broke the bro code.

Tripp: I’m not really sure “bro code” applies to you.

Chanel: Yeah, but still, it didn’t matter how I felt about allie. She was your girlfriend.

Tripp: Followed your heart, right?

Chanel: Yeah, but I’m so sorry for the way that that happened. I mean, that night when allie and I were together for the first time, I was hurting because of what johnny did to me. And I’m ashamed to say, I wasn’t thinking about you and how hurt you would be. And tripp, that was so wrong. I know that now. And I really, really am sorry.

Tripp: Look, at the end of the day, allie’s the one who cheated on me. But thank you for saying that. It means a lot.

Belle: Everyone keeps telling me it’s not shawn’s fault that he betrayed me. But he liked to me. For months, he had every opportunity to tell me that he slept with jan and he kept that from me.

Eric: You had every right to be angry.

Belle: But I should get over it, right?

Eric: I don’t presume to tell you what to do, belle. But from my experience, with nicole, there’s no looking back. I just wish I– I wish I’d been more forgiving. You know, I shouldn’t have judged her so harshly. It cost me to lose her and lose my marriage. And I don’t want that to happen for you.

Belle: I don’t want to lose shawn. I just don’t know if I’m ready to go home yet.

Eric: You can’t avoid him forever.

Belle: So how do I know when I’m ready?

Eric: I can’t give you that, but I can tell you this. You can’t find the answers by avoiding your husband. The only way that you’re gonna make it through this mess is to go home and work this out together.

Jan: Well?

Shawn: I spoke to the warden.

Jan: And?

Shawn: And he’s not exactly thrilled about letting a dangerous prisoner out into the world.

Jan: Am I really dangerous anymore?

Shawn: Look, ultimately a decision like this would be left to the judge who did your sentencing. But–

Jan: But?

Shawn: Look, apparently there is extreme overcrowding here.

Jan: Tell me about it. I had to wait an hour to take a shower with a clogged drain the other day.

Shawn: Well, so, if you were to be released temporarily into my custody, it wouldn’t only be helping your baby–

Jan: Our baby.

Shawn: It would be solving the warden’s problem as well. And since I– since I guaranteed that I would be responsible for you–

Jan: Does that mean yes?

Shawn: The judge signed off, it’s a–so that is a yes.

Shawn: How’s that?

Jan: It’s not a glass slipper, but it’ll do.

Shawn: If you try to leave the house without permission, I’m warning you, you’re going to be swarmed by a whole bunch of unfriendly cops.

Jan: Duly noted. I just hope belle’s gonna be okay with this.

Shawn: You’re not gonna have to worry about belle.

Jan: Did you tell her I’d be moving in?

Shawn: She’s not gonna be there.

Jan: What do you mean? Is she away on business?

Shawn: She’s staying at her mom’S.

Jan: She moved out?

Shawn: For now.

Jan: Shawn, is it because of–

Shawn: Yes, jan, of course it is!

Jan: I’m sorry. Okay? I know this is my fault. Well, I guess it is the devil’s too. And I know that you feel guilty because you didn’t tell belle we slept together. You were just trying to protect her, right?

Shawn: I– I was trying to protect myself. And I need to hold myself accountable for my actions.

Jan: Well, for what it’s worth, I am sorry. I don’t wish these problems on you.

Shawn: Okay, jan, just cut it out. Stop pretending that you care about my marriage, all right?

Jan: I care about you. And about bringing this baby into a warm, loving environment. But I guess for now it’s just going to be the two of us. I mean, the three of us.

Belle: Oh, you’re right. I’m not gonna solve any of my problems by running from them.

Eric: Trust me, you can’t get far enough. So, does this mean–?

Belle: It means I’m gonna go to mom’s and get my stuff and go home.

Eric: Yay! Proud of you. Listen, I’m here for you. Whatever you need.

Belle: Thank you. Oh, you always know what to say.

Eric: Not always.

Belle: You know, if you don’t want to deal with the whole nicole and rafe thing, you can come help me.

Eric: No, I need to take a little bit of my own advice and not bury my head in the sand. Listen, nicole and I, we’re divorced now. She’s moved on with her life and I need to move on with mine.

Ciara: Oh, wow. Look at this. It is official. My baby is going to be the best-dressed baby in all of salem. Oh, my god.

Allie: And he deserves it. I mean, after what you’ve been through, nothing but the best for this little miracle. And I bet he’s going to be showered with gifts too. I mean, what does your registry look like?

Ciara: Actually, I haven’t put much on my registry yet.

Allie: Oh, well, we can take care of that. We’ll go down to the square, I’ll walk you through it, we’ll spend the day together.

Ciara: Actually, thank you, that’s really sweet, but I’m still really worried about ben and I would just like to go to the garage and check up on him.

Allie: Check on what? I mean, you saw his note.

Ciara: Yeah, I know, and I know it seems silly, but maybe it’s the hormones. I don’t know, I just feel like I really, really need to see him right now. Can I have a raincheck?

Allie: Of course.

Demon allie: That ciara is a stubborn one, isn’t she? Looks like she’s not going to rest until she finds ben. So I guess I have to do something a little more drastic.

Ben: What if ciara thinks I just took off? What if she thinks I just left her and the baby?

Johnny: Why would she think that?

Ben: I don’t know, man! I don’t know! Maybe she thinks I’m getting cold feet about being a dad. Who knows what kind of poison that demon’s pouring into her ear right now!

Johnny: Ben, I already told you that is a waste of your time and energy.

Ben: We gotta do something, okay? The devil is after my wife and my baby, johnny!

Johnny: Look, I’m sorry, ben, I have tried everything.

Ben: This crypt, it’s on your family’s dimera property, right?

Johnny: Yeah.

Ben: Does anybody ever come back here?

Johnny: I mean, sometimes to pay their respects, honor my dead relatives.

Johnny: No. I was pretty weak at the time, but–

Allie: Evan frears, aka christian maddox. Big fan of your work.

Evan: Who in the hell are you?

Allie: Me? I’m your new best friend.

Evan: How do you figure?

Demon: Because I’m about to offer you the chance of a lifetime. How’d you like to get revenge on ben weston?

Evan: Okay. Now you have my attention.

Allie: Awesome. You and i have so much to talk about.

Ben: Hello?

Johnny: Somebody, help us, please!

Allie: You know, evan– can I call you evan? I’m just not a big fan of “christian.”

Allie: Great. See, we’re getting along already. I knew we’d be pals.

Allie: Because we have so much in common. For instance, I heard you play for both teams, so to speak. I, myself, have recently begun exploring the wonderful world of bisexuality.

Evan: Just get to the part where you help me get revenge on ben weston.

Allie: I was getting to that. You see, that’s the other thing we have in common. I know you hate him.

Evan: He’s the reason I’m in here. The reason I lost everything.

Allie: I know all about that. How he ruined your plans by rescuing ciara. If that pesky ceiling hadn’t fallen on you, you’d be out there living your best life. But instead, you’re stuck in here, while ben and ciara are happily married.

Evan: I’ve heard.

Allie: Well, now ben is getting in my way. And I just can’t have that. So that’s where you come in.

Rafe: Stick me with all this damn paperwork. Like I’ve got nothing better to do than stay here all night.

Nicole: Hey. I just heard that all the charges against ava were dropped. How the hell did that happen?

[Sighs]

[Door closes]

Marlena: So it’s true. The prodigal son returns.

Eric: What, you didn’t believe it?

Marlena: No, you told me on the phone. I just had to see it with my own eyes. Oh, bring it, bring it. Oh, my darling. Mm, mm. How I have missed you.

Eric: I’ve missed you too.

[Sighs]

Marlena: What, what, what– what is it?

Eric: No, it’s just that I– I feel bad that I just went back to africa so soon. I should have stuck around, made sure you fully recovered.

Marlena: No, no, no, I’m fine. And thanks to the help and the love of family and friends, you saved my soul. You set me free.

Ej: Rough day at the office?

Gabi: What, is trask letting everybody out of jail?

Gabi: Guess I blocked it out.

Ej: Mm. Well, in case you blocked out the other equally-important part, I’m innocent. It turns out that the devil used belle black to set me up.

[Phone ringing]

Shawn: Thanks, uh– thanks for coming to see me.

Belle: Oh, I didn’T. I, uh–I came to see a client.

Shawn: Oh. Well, uh, look, before you do that, can you give me a few minutes to make my case?

Belle: What case?

Shawn: Like, the one where i try to convince you, my wife, the woman that I love more than anything in this world, that she should come home?

Shawn: This–this situation with jan is, um– it–it’s challenging.

Belle: Challenging?

Shawn: It–all right, it’s a nightmare, all right? It’s a total, total nightmare. But I miss you, belle. Look, and I know that you miss me, too.

Belle: This “situation” you’re referring to, let’s just call it what it is. You slept with a homicidal maniac whose only mission in life is to drive us apart. And now said maniac is having your baby.

Shawn: I am so sorry.

Belle: [Sniffles] You impregnated her, what, four months ago?

Shawn: Look, come on, can we not do this, please?

Belle: Yes or no?

Shawn: Yes.

Belle: Yes, on christmas eve. Otherwise known as our wedding anniversary. And did you tell me then that you had slept with her? Or did you allow me to believe I’d interrupted you before you had had sex?

Shawn: I thought that I was having sex with you, all right? But then you walked in, the real belle, and then the belle that was in bed with me, she turned into jan, and I was horrified.

Belle: Oh, so horrified that you confided in me? Your wife, the woman you love more than anything, you told me that moments after it happened?

Shawn: Look, no.

Belle: No. Did you tell me the next day?

Shawn: N-no.

Belle: No. In fact, you never told me at all.

Shawn: Listen, the reason why I did not tell you was because i knew that it was gonna hurt you. Worse than that, it was gonna traumatize you. You’d be devastated. All right? Just as I was. I just–I didn’t want to do that to you.

Belle: And it never occurred to you that that woman could be pregnant?

Shawn: I thought that I was in bed with you. And you’re on birth control.

Belle: But when I walked in on you, it was clear that the woman you were sleeping with was not me. And it still did not occur to you that she could have been knocked up?

Shawn: No, it did not.

Belle: Oh, my god. Well, can you concede that maybe it should have?

Shawn: Okay, yes. Yes, I can. Okay? But like I said, I was rattled. I was ashamed. I was–I was embarrassed. Okay? And even if that thought had crossed my mind, I mean, what would telling you have done?

Belle: God. Shawn, you really don’t get it, do you? This entire thing could have been avoided. She could have taken the morning after pill.

Shawn: Oh, no, no. You know damn well that jan would never have consented to that.

Belle: I could have gotten a court order.

Shawn: Wait, a court order?

Belle: Yes, shawn. What she did to you– making you believe that she was your wife and then manipulating you into bed with her, that is sexual assault. [Sighs] You know, the devil made it possible, but jan is the one who got you to have unprotected sex with her under false pretenses.

Shawn: Well, you know what? I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I’m so damn clueless. But unlike you, I don’t have a law degree. So that thought never even crossed my mind, all right? All I know is is that at that moment, I had made the biggest mistake of my life. And the horror of that mistake has been compounded– exponentially compounded by jan being pregnant. And if you think that this isn’t a total nightmare for me, let me assure you, aside from anything happening to you or to claire, god forbid, well, I cannot think of anything–anything in this world that would make me more miserable.

Belle: And I’m sorry that you’re so miserable. But still, I am just shocked and so disappointed that months went by without you telling me the truth and that I had to find out by some lunatic that you knocked up by having her call me down to statesville and showing me so proudly the fruits of this situation.

Shawn: Hey, listen– listen, you have every right to be angry. You do. Look, worse than angry. You–horrified. Okay? Just like I am.

Belle: [Sniffles]

Shawn: But belle, I can’t change the past. I can’T. I–I can’t change what the devil did. Okay? All I can do is I can promise you–promise you that I will spend the rest of my life making it up to you.

Belle: And how are you gonna do that?

Shawn: Look, by each– by each and every day proving and showing you that you are what is the most important thing in the world to me. You. Belle, I can do that. I can get us back there. I know I can do it. You just gotta give me a chance.

Eric: I’m relieved you’re okay, but I’m also disappointed.

Marlena: In what?

Eric: In myself. I really thought that I got rid of the devil for good, but then I let him jump into my sister.

Marlena: You didn’t let anything happen. Satan is–is a– a master of deception. Has been ever since the–

Eric: Minute he talked eve into tempting adam with an apple.

Gabi: [Sighs] So the devil set you up. Am I supposed to feel sorry for you?

Ej: [Chuckles lightly] I didn’t come for your sympathy, gabriella. I came for my job.

Gabi: Well, the position’s been filled. I mean, I told my assistant I wasn’t to be disturbed.

Ej: Obviously, she recognized me. Until recently, I was ceo of dimera.

Gabi: Co-ceo. And when the evidence turned up that you kidnapped sami, she fired you.

Ej: Evidence we now both know was planted by satan. If it were not for him, I wouldn’t have even been removed from my position. He is the only reason you are in that chair.

Gabi: Look, you can blame the devil all you want, but the cold, hard truth is johnny was the one who got me into this chair. Johnny gave me this position, and then he tried to get me into his bed.

Ava: Jake? You okay?

[Dramatic music]

Jake: [Sighs] Yeah, just had a nightmare.

Ava: Must have been a pretty bad one.

Jake: I’m fine.

Ava: You sure?

Jake: Yeah.

Ava: Hey, you don’t seem fine. Your heart is racing.

Ava: Sorry. Didn’t mean to make this weird.

Jake: You mean weirder than, uh, sleeping together without actually… sleeping together? Sharing a bed with a friend?

Ava: But I am your friend, jake. So if you want to tell me about your nightmare, I am happy to listen.

Jake: You know, honestly, I can’t remember. I’m gonna grab a shower.

[Soft emotional music]

[Phone ringing]

Belle: Okay, for argument’s sake, let’s say I do give you another chance. Then what?

Shawn: Then whatever– whatever you want. I–I’ll follow your lead. Look, I made a huge mistake not being honest with you. I hate–I hate that I didn’t tell you, and I– I hate that I hurt you. Okay, but I don’t want this to destroy our marriage. Just, I want–I want to figure this out with you. I mean, what do– what do you want?

Belle: Well, I know what I don’t want. [Sniffs] I don’t want jan spears to be a part of my life in any way, shape, or form.

Shawn: Well you–you’re not gonna have to worry about that.

Belle: Jan is the– the baby’s mother. If the baby is in your life and you’re in my life, then jan is in my life. Okay? And–and considering she’s tried to kill me, like, a dozen different ways, I just–I think it’s best if I steer clear.

Shawn: Hey, jan– jan is unpredictable, all right? So, I mean, we don’t know what she’s gonna do. So I don’t, maybe– maybe motherhood is gonna calm her down and mellow her out.

Belle: Oh, my god, you’ve got to be kidding me.

Shawn: No, look, I haven’t heard from her once since she told me about the baby. Not once.

[Phone rings]

[Phone beeps] Hello?

[Sighs]

Belle: [Sniffles]

Shawn: It’s statesville.

Belle: As you were saying?

Nicole: So ava tries to ruin your life and she walks? That’s insane. I hope you gave trask a piece of your mind.

Rafe: I would have, had she let me know before she released ava. But she just did it. Then she ordered me to arrest gwen, which led to this pile of paperwork, which is why I couldn’t see you last night. Sorry.

Nicole: No, I’m– I’m sorry, rafe.

Rafe: Yeah.

Nicole: Do you think you could take a break?

Rafe: I would love that. Yeah, I would. Maybe we can grab some breakfast at the pub?

Nicole: The pub?

Rafe: Yeah. That okay?

[Uneasy music]

Nicole: [Sighs]

Eric: I’m sorry I just didn’t come home sooner to help with belle. I was just, you know, i was off the grid. And I know you and john reached out.

Marlena: You don’t have to apologize. Look, we–we all pulled together and we saved your sister.

Eric: Thank god for that. And nobody was aware that she was possessed? Not even shawn?

Marlena: Well… susan banks did think the devil had gotten into belle, but ben thought it was somebody else.

Eric: Who?

Marlena: Johnny.

Ej: Johnny was trying to seduce you? Wasn’t he aware that you were dating my brother?

Gabi: Oh, yeah. He was aware. He just didn’t give a damn. Long story short, jake and I had big plans. And obviously johnny did too, so I suggested the three of us work together.

Ej: [Chuckles] In other words you wanted to convince my son to pool his shares with yours so you could take over dimera.

Gabi: Look, I’m all about business, but your little casanova wanted more. He kept pushing me to ditch his uncle jake and team up with him in more ways than one.

Ej: But you refused?

Gabi: Until I found out that my boyfriend was stabbing me in the back.

[Sighs] I mean, now we know it wasn’t my boyfriend, it was satan. I–I wanted to confront jake, to ask him why he tried to double-cross me.

Ej: So what stopped you?

Gabi: Oh, it was johnny. Johnny suggested that we make jake think we’re all on the same page and ambush him at the shareholder meeting, and vote chad out and me in.

Ej: So it was johnny’s idea to make you ceo?

Gabi: It was less about me and more about a power grab. I mean, you do know your son loves to flex. He was very quick to throw you under the bus, that’s for sure.

Ej: And after your victory, my son continued to pursue you romantically?

Gabi: Yeah, he wanted to “take our relationship to the next level.” But before that could happen, I found out that jake didn’t betray me. And I–I mean, I tried to fix things, but– well, it doesn’t even matter. You could–you don’t even have to take my word for it. You can ask your son.

Ej: I wish I could, but he’s gone. Giovanni is in italy doing some “soul-searching.”

Gabi: Great, well, I hope that works out for him. All right, well, you are all caught up now, so you can see yourself out. I do have an international corporation to run.

Ej: Gabriella… surely you remember how well we used to get on.

Gabi: What? When was that? Was that before you booted jake out of the family business?

Ej: And now it appears as though you and my brother are through. So why don’t you step aside and allow this innocent man to have his job back?

Gabi: [Scoffs] No.

Ej: Well, in that case, then, I suggest you remember I’m not as naive as my son. And I will always respect my father’s legacy. And by that, I mean I will not let it get run into the ground by an interloper. So don’t get too comfortable in that chair. It won’t be long before I put you in your place and reclaim mine.

Gabi: Ej, is that a threat?

Ej: No, no, no, gabriella. That’s a promise.

[Uneasy music]

Nicole: Uh, rafe, before we go to the pub, there’s something you should know.

Ava: Oh. Hope I’m not interrupting. I’m not sure if you just keep your trysts to the basic black conference table, or if maybe you were gonna sweep all those papers off the desk and go at it right there.

Nicole: [Scoffs]

Rafe: Ava, what the hell do you want?

[Dramatic music]

Gabi: [Sighs] Now who’s more insufferable? Ava vitali or ej dimera? You know what? Forget them. She’s a loser, he’s an unemployed loser, and you’re ceo.

[Sighs]

[Knock at door] Damn it. I thought I told you I was not to be disturbed!

[Tense music]

Eric: Johnny was possessed?

Marlena: Yeah, that’s what ben originally thought.

Eric: Well, is there any truth to that? I mean, he was in the room when the devil left you.

Marlena: Yeah. Uh, but then– then belle tried to choke me to death. I–it was–it was satan. And–and it would have been disastrous if johnny hadn’t come in when he did.

Eric: Belle? I mean, is she okay? I mean, I haven’t spoken to her yet, so–

Marlena: Yeah. Yeah, well, physically– physically, she’s okay. Um, and the devil is gone, but when he was here, something happened that absolutely devastated her.

Jan: What do you mean he refused to accept the call? Shawn-douglas brady is the father of my child, which means he can’t just blow me off. [Exhales] Try him again, please? And tell him this is an emergency.

Belle: Should have taken that call from your baby mama.

Shawn: Look, come on. That is not funny.

Belle: Who’s laughing? This is exactly what it’s gonna be like from now on. When jan calls, you have to talk to her.

Shawn: Okay, well, I’m talking to you right now about saving our marriage. All right? Jan can wait.

[Phone rings]

Belle: Apparently not.

[Phone rings]

[Phone beeps] Detective brady’s phone. Yeah, he’ll accept the charges. Here, now you can talk to her ’cause I don’t have anything left to say.

Shawn: Belle, just come home. Please let me–

Belle: No, I’m gonna be at my parents’.

Shawn: Okay, what, jan?

Jan: Is that any way to talk to the mother of your child? I can hear the anger in your voice. You’ve been talking to belle, haven’t you? We both know how she upsets you.

Shawn: I’m hanging up now.

Jan: You wouldn’t dare. Not if you care about the life of our unborn child. Stuff. We love stuff.

Eric: [Sighs] Jan spears pregnant with shawn’s baby? I mean, she’s done some horrible things, but this is–

Marlena: Yeah. And I feel a bit responsible.

Eric: Mom, belle can’t blame you for doing to devil’s work. Neither can shawn.

Marlena: No, no, no, they– they don’T. Thing is that belle is upset with her husband for his lie of omission. You know, he never told her that he slept with jan.

Eric: Oh.

Marlena: Oh, good. Thank you.

Eric: Well, you know what? I better go check on belle and see if there’s anything I can do.

Marlena: I’m sure she would love to hear from you.

Eric: Yeah.

Marlena: Have you bumped into anybody else since you’ve been back in town?

Eric: Nicole stopped by. Talked for a bit.

Marlena: Mm-hmm. How did that feel?

Eric: Are you asking as my mom, or the highly-esteemed psychiatrist?

Marlena: As both.

Eric: Well, we’re divorced. And I’m committed to the priesthood, and she’s committed to somebody else.

Rafe: Well, the one good thing about the charges being dropped is I don’t have to see you around here anymore.

Ava: Great, well I didn’t come to see you, I came to see gwen.

Nicole: Why? Rafe just told me you sold her out.

Ava: I did what I had to to save myself. I took no pleasure in it, and not that it’s any of your business, but I have come here to apologize.

Nicole: You expect us to believe that you’re gonna make amends with gwen when you haven’t even apologized to rafe for setting him up?

Ava: Oh, okay. Well, you see, gwen didn’t have sex with my best friend, or my boyfriend, behind my back and lie about it. Unlike some other people I know. Mm-hmm.

Nicole: Rafe didn’t deserve to go to prison, and you don’t deserve to be free.

Ava: Who do I speak to about seeing gwen?

Rafe: I’ll let her know you want to talk to her. This won’t take long. Uh, meet you at the pub?

Nicole: Yeah, I’ll, uh, see you there.

Rafe: Okay.

Ava: [Chuckles] Yeah, um, I’m just gonna wait here while you go check on gwen.

Rafe: Yeah, right. After everything you’ve done to me you think I’m gonna leave you alone in my office? Let’s go. Get out.

Ava: Okay, okay, okay.

Gabi: Jake, what are you doing here?

Jake: I need to talk to you.

Gabi: No, I already know all about how your new girlfriend threw your old girlfriend under the bus to frame my brother. And I told trask there’s no way–

Jake: Ava is not my girlfriend. Okay? And even if she was, once again, it’s none of your damn business.

Gabi: And you’re okay with her ratting out gwen to save her guilty ass?

Jake: Gwen put abigail and her family through hell, so no, I’m not gonna lose any sleep over that. But I’m not here to talk about her or ava.

Gabi: Then what do you want to talk about, jake?

Jake: The devil.

Jan: Shawn. I knew you’d come.

Shawn: Ah, ah, ah. Whatever it is, you have one minute.

Jan: Gosh. You’re being so cold to me. And I’m really vulnerable right now. Can you at least show a modicum of compassion?

Shawn: 30 seconds.

Jan: You can act like you don’t care, and like you feel nothing, but I know you do. I know you love our baby as much as I do.

[Sobs] And I’m scared, shawn. I’m really, really scared.

Shawn: Let’s skip it.

Jan: Skip what?

Shawn: The tears. The games. All this manipulative crap. Okay? Why don’t you just cut to the chase and tell me what the hell you want.

Belle: I got your text. You said it was important.

Ej: I need your help to take back dimera enterprises from gabi hernandez.

Belle: I am dimera’s general counsel. Gabi’s my boss.

Ej: Only until you advise me on how to get rid of her.

Belle: And why would you take my advice, ej? Because you ignore it all the time. I told you not to hand over your shares to–to johnny, and you did it anyway. And that is why gabi is ceo. And she got johnny to throw in with her.

Ej: Actually, I just spoke with gabriella, and she informed me that it was johnny’s idea that she run the company.

Belle: Well, you handed him all the power.

Ej: [Sighs] I told you at the time that I never imagined he would undermine me. I trusted my son.

Belle: Well, you should have trusted your attorney more.

Ej: [Sighs] You’re right. I was a fool to be so dismissive. But from now on, I will listen. I promise.

Belle: I appreciate that. But I still can’t advise you on this.

Ej: [Sighs]

Belle: [Sighs sarcastically] Off the record though, I would suggest that you get johnny to sign a document handing over his shares. And then you can form a voting block and remove gabi and put yourself back in.

Ej: There’s just one problem with that strategy.

Belle: What’s that?

Ej: Johnny’s left town. He’s gone to italy to “find himself.”

Belle: Hmm. Well, then I guess you’d have to first find him and then get his signature. And really, that’s all I’m gonna say about it.

Ej: [Chuckles] Terseness. Wonderful quality in an attorney. Means fewer billable hours. And now that you’ve heard all about me, why don’t you tell me how you’re doing. Please.

Belle: Well, that’s not a question I can really answer in just a few words.

Jan: I’m not trying to manipulate you.

Shawn: [Chuckles]

Jan: I have been cooperative, straightforward, and completely honest since I told you about our baby. And that’s why when I learned something about our child today, I thought you’d want to know immediately.

Shawn: Okay, well, I’m here. So tell me.

Jan: Well, as you obviously know, I’m in my second trimester and so I’ve had a more thorough exam. And I’m afraid there’s some bad news. I have a medical condition with a long, complicated name.

Shawn: You are so full of it.

Jan: I am not. What I have is serious. It’s so serious that I need to be on bedrest for the remainder of my pregnancy.

Shawn: And, okay, what does that have to do with me?

Jan: Shawn, do you think that a person can get any rest in this hell hole? It is a nonstop cacophony. Shawn, you need to get me released immediately. For the sake of our baby.

Gabi: You want to talk about the devil. You mean your girlfriend?

Jake: For the last time, ava’s my roommate. It’s none of your business, but–

[Exhales heavily] I need help, gabi. And you’re the only person I can turn to.

Gabi: What do you need help with?

Jake: It’s about a dream that I had this morning.

Gabi: You came to talk to me about a dream?

Jake: Well, it’s more like a, I don’t know, it feels more like a memory I– you remember that stunt you pulled at dimera? Afterwards you left me in the conference room alone with johnny?

Gabi: W–what does that have to do with the devil?

Jake: Because in my dream, johnny wasn’t johnny, he was– he seemed possessed, all right? He had the–the freaky voice, the glowing eyes, the whole nine yards, and we went at it.

Gabi: You must have hit your head pretty hard, because when I got back you were out cold. Jake, jake, jake. Can you hear me? Jake! Johnny–johnny said you attacked him.

Jake: I don’t remember that. Okay, but in my dream, I punched the devil. Do you remember anything strange from that day?

Gabi: No.

Jake: You sure?

Gabi: Jake, what I remember from that day is that I got this job and I lost you.

Jake: This was a mistake. Sorry to bother you.

Gabi: Jake, hold on, wait–

Jake: What?

Gabi: Look, we–we both know the devil and johnny broke us up. Are you–are you thinking they’re one and the same?

[Phone rings]

Rafe: Gwen doesn’t want to see you.

Ava: Oh. Someone’s holding a grudge, is she?

Rafe: Mm. I don’t want to see you either. Get out of here and don’t come back.

Ava: Oh, I’m a free woman which means I can go wherever I damn well please.

Rafe: You know what? You got away this time. You so much as think about hurting me or nicole, you’re not gonna have to worry about speaking with gwen, because you’re gonna be in the same cell with her at statesville.

Ava: Hmm. Is this your “bad cop,” rafe? You never showed me this side when we were dating. If you had… we’d probably still be together.

[Phone rings]

Eric: Nicole’s with rafe now.

Marlena: She told you.

Eric: You want to know how I feel.

Marlena: I want to know that you’re okay.

Eric: I’m fine, mom. She’s my first love. Obviously, we’ll always have that connection, but we realized that we’re two different people who want two very different lives.

Marlena: So seeing her now is like seeing an old friend, hmm?

Eric: I may be a priest, but I’m still a human. But to be honest, when nicole, she–she walked through that door, my heart skipped a beat. She’ll still have that power over me.

[Emotional music]

Jake: You know there was a time that I thought johnny was possessed? Ben and ciara did, too. Turns out the devil as in belle, and, well, johnny was just a jerk.

Gabi: What about your dream? I mean, it must mean something if you came all the way down here to ask for my help.

Jake: [Scoffs] It was a mistake. Again, sorry to bother you. Now get back to running dimera all by yourself.

Gabi: Jake, are you surprised that living under the same roof as ava vitali is giving you nightmares? I mean, I know you’re sleeping on the floor, but–

Jake: Eh, not anymore. In fact, we’re sharing a bed.

Gabi: Oh. Great. Thank you for the update!

Jake: Yeah. Nothing happened, for what it’s worth. I stayed on my side of the bed, ava stayed on hers.

Gabi: Yeah, that’ll last.

Marlena: Oh, nicole. How nice to see you.

Nicole: It’s nice to see you too, marlena. Are you good?

Marlena: Yes. All is well. Uh, but I’m afraid I can’t stay. I’ve gotta be– I’ve gotta be going. I will–I’ll be in touch with you?

Eric: You got it.

Marlena: Bye, sweetie.

Eric: Bye.

Marlena: Bye.

Nicole: Bye.

Eric: Coffee?

Nicole: I’ll–I’ll wait. Rafe’s meeting me here for breakfast. I–it was his suggestion. And I–I–

Eric: It’s okay. You don’t have to explain.

Nicole: Sorry.

Eric: What do you have to be sorry about?

Nicole: It’s just that– well, this is a little strange.

Eric: Wasn’t strange yesterday.

Nicole: Yeah, well– but now rafe’s about to walk through the door.

Eric: You’re afraid that I’m gonna be uncomfortable. Seeing you happy will never make me uncomfortable. Nicole, I’m truly happy you found somebody that puts you first, and can give you their whole heart. You deserve that. You really–you really do.

Rafe: [Sighs]

Eric: [Clears throat]

Belle: [Clears throat] I ran into shawn at the police station and…he wants me to come back home.

Ej: And what do you want?

Belle: I want to go back in time, and stop him from sleeping with jan, and make it so she’s not carrying his baby.

Ej: If only I could help you with that.

Belle: [Sniffles] You know what I wish? I wish that I could do what you did with sami when you found out she cheated with lucas, you know?

Ej: I banished her from my life.

Belle: I know. And as much as I want to banish all of this and just erase it from my consciousness forever, I can’T… because I love him. I love my husband.

[Sniffles]

Shawn: I just spoke to the prison doctor.

Jan: And she backed up what I said, didn’t she? I told you I wasn’t making this up. And now it’s as clear to you as it is to me. If I stay here, our child will not survive. I have moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.

Jake: [Sighs]

[Sighs]

Ava: Hey, roomie.

Jake: Hey. You still shaken up about your nightmare?

Jake: No, I’m fine.

Gabi: I will get you out of jake’s bed, if it’s the last thing I do.

Rafe: Whoa.

Eric: Wow.

Rafe: When did you get into town?

Eric: Ah, yesterday.

Rafe: Ah.

Eric: You didn’t tell rafe?

Nicole: We didn’t see each other last night, and, um, I tried to tell you this morning at the station, but we were interrupted. Eric and I ran into each other yesterday morning.

Rafe: Yeah, well– that’s great, welcome back.

Eric: Thanks.

Rafe: So, uh, how long are you here for?

Eric: Ah, just a visit. Yeah, nicole, she, uh– she told me about the two of you and, uh– I–I wish you both happiness.

Rafe: Nice.

Belle: [Sniffles] I just, um– I just feel like I’m never gonna be happy again. You know? Like this is a life sentence.

Ej: I understand.

Belle: [Chuckles weakly]

Ej: But I can assure you that it’s not. You are a smart, strong, resilient woman. And I have no doubt you’ll find a way to make the best out of all of this.

Belle: How? Jan is crazy. And she’s heartless. And now she’s pregnant with my husband’s baby.

Ej: If you want your marriage to work, then it will. And if anybody tries to get in your way, they do so at their own peril.

Belle: [Chuckles]

Ej: I believe in you, belle. Believe in yourself.

Belle: Thank you. [Sniffles]

Shawn: So what do you want me to do, jan?

Jan: You’re an officer of the law. Pull some strings, call in some favors. Get me released.

Shawn: They’re not gonna let a nutjob with your record out of prison just because you’re pregnant, all right? Even if it is high-risk.

Jan: There are options other than letting me free.

Shawn: Okay, like what?

Jan: House arrest?

Shawn: Okay, whose house?

Tripp: You got your mind off johnny and allie?

Chanel: Johnny and allie who?

Johnny: [Scoffs] I don’t believe this.

[Tripp and chanel chuckle]

[Chains rattling]

Johnny: [Grunting]

Allie: So how is your tea?

Ben: It’s good. It’s really good.

Allie: I figured you could use some relaxing too. I mean, a new life is a miracle and all that but having a baby on the way is super stressful.

Ben: Yeah. I’ve got to admit, I’ve been a little anxious recently and my dad bunking here with us isn’t helping.

Allie: Mm-hmm. Yeah, I figured you’d be kinda freaked, especially since, um…

Ben: What?

Allie: Well, before she got pregnant, ciara told me that you were worried about having kids. That you were afraid that clyde’s genes might be passed down and you’d end up with some… demon seed or something. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean for it to sound like that.

Ben: No, it’s–it’s okay. And, um, that’s exactly how I was feeling back then. Yeah. I’m just grateful dr. Evans set me straight.

Allie: Yeah, me too. And obviously, I mean, you had nothing to worry about. Your baby is going to be absolutely perfect.

Ben: [Sighs]

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

Tr: You have no idea how I’ve longed to be with you like this, paulina. It’s as if no time has passed at all.

Paulina: But so much time has passed, and yet, somehow you–you make me feel like that young girl who was swept off her feet by a handsome young boy.

Tr: The twins are asleep?

Paulina: They are.

Tr: Chanel is out?

Paulina: She is.

Tr: Maybe I could sweep you off your feet again… tonight.

Tripp: Mmm. You taste like cherries.

Chanel: [Chuckles] Well, four cherry bombs will do that. Don’t you like cherry?

Tripp: No. I love it.

Chanel: [Laughs] Oh, you’re definitely wasted.

Tripp: Probably. You?

Chanel: Same.

Tripp: So I guess it’s the alcohol making you forget about those two twins, you know? What were their names again?

Chanel: I have no idea who you’re talking about.

[Both laughing]

[Chains rattling]

Johnny: [Scoffs]

Waiter: You two wanna get a room?

Chanel: [Laughs] Oh, but that is not such a bad idea.

Johnny: Damn it, chanel. It’s a terrible idea. Chanel, don’t!

Allie: So you and ciara must be so excited about having a little boy. I mean, you two, you’re gonna be the best parents ever.

Ben: [Sighs] I’m sorry. Um… just feel a little, like, sleepy… all of a sudden. [Clears throat]

Allie: I guess I’m boring you.

Ben: You are not boring me. Never. No. Maybe it’s just this, uh, relaxing tea of yours.

Allie: Well, I will get going and I’ll let you get a good night of sleep, but, um, before I go, I actually wanna show you some pictures of a few things I told ciara I’d bring over for the baby. Just, you know, some stuff henry outgrew. So, you know, that’s some– some blankies and some onesies. And this one is my fave.

Ben: What is that?

Allie: Baby’s first halloween. Isn’t it cute? Your little guy is going to be the handsomest devil on the block. When it comes to pain medicine, What do I deserve to know?

Beth: I don’t know quite how to–

Julie: Lani, darling. Oh, I–I didn’t know anyone else was here.

Lani: Uh, this is beth. Beth, this is eli’s grandmother, julie williams.

Beth: Nice to meet you.

Julie: You’re a friend of eli’s?

Beth: Not exactly.

Lani: She used to date my biological father.

Julie: Really? Well, what are you doing here?

Lani: She brought eli these beautiful flowers.

Julie: Even though you don’t know him?

Beth: Well, like I was telling lani, I’ve had her husband on my mind. I don’t know if you know, but I met with him at the police station right before he went to the park. I was probably the last person to see him before he got shot.

Julie: Yes, I–I was told that eli was… questioning you about tr. Checking up on his background to make sure he’s telling the truth about turning his life around. And you said yes. Indeed, that’s just what he’s done. Have I got that right?

Tr: What do you say, huh? I’ll put on some coltrane, make you a manhattan in a martini glass just the way you like.

Paulina: You remember?

Tr: Just like it was yesterday. You wait here. I’ll get that manhattan.

Paulina: Ray, wait.

Tr: What? What do you need?

Paulina: As much as I’d love for you to sweep me off my feet again, not tonight. Not yet.

Tr: I see. And that would be because of… abe carver… am I right?

Abe: Oh, kate. I didn’t know you were working here again.

Kate: I’m not working here. I’m just helping roman out behind the bar because I have a lot of free time on my hands.

Abe: Well, I don’t suppose that you would be interested in coming back to the mayor’s office?

Kate: Uh… I think you’re just fine without me.

Abe: Well, I’m not so sure about that. Look, I’ll have a g&T.

Kate: Okay.

Abe: No, make it a double.

Kate: That sounds serious.

Abe: It’s just one of those days.

Kate: Okay, well, I am not really an official bartender, but I do think that I have the ability to be a good listener if you wanna talk about it.

Tripp: Mmm, yeah. What do you say we get another round to celebrate our liberation? Huh? What do you say?

Johnny: Yeah, that’s it. That’s it. Just stay there. Don’t leave together.

Chanel: Uh, I say, yes. Yes, I will definitely do another round.

Tripp: Excellent, excellent. Hey, excuse me, sir. Another round, my friend.

Waiter: I think you two have had enough.

Chanel: Aww, you’re no fun.

Tripp: Yeah, no fun at all. In fact, do you even know the meaning of the word?

Waiter: I’ll call you a cab.

Chanel: Well, I guess that’s destiny, then. Your place or mine?

Johnny: [Sighs]

Ben: You dressed up henry like the devil for halloween?

Allie: I did. And it was adorable. Those little horns, to die for, honestly.

Ben: I don’t– I don’t remember you dressing him like–

Allie: Ben, are you okay?

Ben: I think there’s something in the tea.

Allie: Tea leaves. I lived in england, remember? They take their tea very seriously there and it rubbed off. Nothing like a good cuppa, right? Allie: Ben, are you all right? The lows of bipolar depression

Abe: [Chuckles] Love can be tricky, can’t it?

Kate: Mm-hmm. Ergo, the double gin and tonic.

Abe: Mm.

[Chuckles] You know, I– I had the kids last night and… when I returned them to paulina, I forgot jules’ pacifier and she can’t sleep without it. So I had to run it back over to paulina and, um… well… looks like we had settled into a new normal. Friendly co-grandparents, that’s all. But then–

[Chuckles]

Kate: [Chuckles] And then what?

Abe: She kissed me. And it rattled me. And I wish to hell it hadn’T. The truth is that–

Kate: Ah, the truth is you still have feelings for her?

Abe: I forgave paulina for what she did, but how can I ever trust her?

Kate: Well, I think maybe you could find a way.

Abe: How? I mean, I–I understand why she lied to cover up lani’s parentage, but that wasn’t the first time. And I know that if I got involved with her again, it wouldn’t be the last.

Tr: Don’t you let that man get you down on yourself, paulina. And you listen to me. Look at me. Abe carver does not appreciate you, not the way I do.

Paulina: I remember the way you used to appreciate me. In the beginning anyway, and it was the best feeling in the world. But along with that, you had to be the center of my universe.

Tr: I was a kid, paulina.

Paulina: And I was naive. It happened so fast with us. One day, we’re necking in the back of your car and the next, I’m in over my head.

Tr: I have apologized for that and will never stop.

Paulina: Well, and i forgive you for that, but it’s not so easy to forget.

Tr: You’re not letting me down gently, are you?

Paulina: Ray, I’m glad you’re sober and I’m glad you’re here. I just– I just wanna take things nice and slow. Can’t you understand that?

[Ominous music]

Tr: Of course. I understand. I love you, paulina, and I will be patient because you are worth it. And… whenever you’re ready, I’ll be waiting.

Tripp: Hmm, so your place or mine? Wait a minute, don’t you live with your mom?

Chanel: Don’t you live with your dad?

Tripp: Oh, okay. Obviously not the best idea. My–my place, I mean.

Chanel: Okay, so… we go to mine. Yeah, yeah, ’cause mama, she’ll be there, but she’s been running around after jules and carver all day, so she’s probably tired and she’s probably in bed already, and she– she won’t even know we’re there.

Tripp: I don’t know.

Chanel: Well, would you rather go home and be all by your lonesome and think about what’s her name?

Tripp: Definitely not.

Johnny: Chanel! I love you! Please don’t do this!

Tripp: So… shall we?

Chanel: Absolutely. Such a gentleman. I’m not used to that lately.

Johnny: No, chanel. Please don’t go.

Ben: The.. the tea leaves… look like a–

Allie: Reading tea leaves? That doesn’t seem like your thing, ben.

Ben: I must be seeing– I’m seeing things.

Allie: Could I top you off? Get you some more? Warm it up?

Ben: No. No–[Mug clatters] I’m–I’m–I’m done.

Allie: So… are you and ciara thinking about names?

Ben: We are. We have a–

Allie: I know you didn’t ask for my opinion, but I’ve always loved damian.

Ben: Damian?

Devil as allie: You don’t hear it so much anymore because of that damn movie.

Ben: Allie… something’s wrong.

Devil as allie: Oh, ben. Don’t you get it? I’m not allie.

Ben: Who are you?

[Sinister music]

We women are in the know about everything.

Lani: That’s right, julie. Beth told eli that tr never raised a hand to her and that he was clean and sober their entire relationship.

Beth: I did tell him that. Yes.

[Door opens]

Tr: Beth? What are you doing here?

Julie: She brought eli these lovely flowers. Wasn’t that thoughtful of her?

Tr: Very.

Beth: You know, I have already intruded on your family time for too long. Detective price, I wish you and your husband the best. And I hope he gets well soon.

Lani: Thank you. She…said she had something to tell me, but I– I guess it wasn’t that important.

Abe: You know, the lies paulina told, they weren’t just lies. They shook me to my core.

Kate: Understood. But I’m going to play devil’s advocate here just for a moment.

Abe: Hmm. Does he really need an advocate?

Kate: Mm, probably not.

[Chuckles] But paulina might.

Abe: I thought that paulina made your blood boil after that price town debacle.

Kate: [Laughs] Oh, please. Just about everyone has made my blood boil at one point or another. But, um, I’ve come to appreciate paulina after a conversation that I had with her a while back. In fact, it was the same day that you told her that you could forgive her, but you didn’t think you’d ever trust her again.

Abe: She confided in you?

Kate: She did. She told me everything. She told me her story. She… told me how she had suffered. She told me the reason that she gave up her daughter and the pain it cost her, the pain it still causes her. And I–I understood why she had lied to you. I understood why she had lied to everybody. And I was sorry that I had judged her without understanding all the facts, without knowing the facts. So I’m hoping that you will give her another chance. Because obviously, you have feelings for her and vice versa. And I remember a time that paulina made you a very happy man.

Paulina: [Sighs] I’m glad you came by. It means the world to me.

[Both chuckling softly] Mm!

Tr: I’m asking you for another chance.

Chanel: Shh! My mama might be here, and–

Paulina: Your mama might what?

Chanel: Mama! I–I thought you’d be in bed.

Paulina: You thought wrong. What’s going on here?

Chanel: Oh, you know tripp.

Paulina: Yes, I do.

Tripp: Nice to see you again, ms. Price.

Paulina: Oh, yeah? You sure about that?

Chanel: Okay, then goodnight.

Paulina: Goodnight?

Chanel: We’re just going to my room.

Paulina: The hell you are!

Devil as allie: Who do you think I am, ben?

[Sinister music]

Ben: You’re the devil.

Devil as allie: Took you long enough.

Ben: You–you drug– you drugged me?

Devil as allie: I did. I drugged you.

Ben: Why?

Devil as allie: Remember how satan was after your baby? Well, I still am.

[Cacophonous laughter]

Tr: How is eli?

Lani: The same.

Tr: [Sighs] I’m sorry, sweetheart. You just have to hang in there. You’re gonna get your miracle. I know it. Those are very pretty flowers that beth brought. What was that about her wanting to tell you something?

Lani: I don’t know. She just said that she found out something today that she thought I deserved to know.

Tr: And she didn’t say what it was? Huh, strange.

Lani: Yeah, well, like I said, it couldn’t be that important if she left without telling me.

Julie: Oh, she was distracted when you came in. I gather your relationship did not end well?

Tr: Why would you say that?

Abe: You know, when I went over to paulina’s, she was expecting ray. Now apparently, he had promised to help with the twins. He was a no-show.

Kate: Wow. I thought she was terrified of him.

Abe: She was. She was, when he first came to town. But ray is using this crisis with eli to ingratiate himself with her. You know she’s– she’s so vulnerable. And I think that he sees this opportunity to be there.

Kate: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Let me guess, let me guess. Did he swear that he’s “turned his life around?”

Abe: Swears he’s a “new man.”

Kate: Mm-hmm. So do you believe it?

Abe: It doesn’t matter what I believe. Paulina does. That’s what counts.

Paulina: Back it up, missy.

Chanel: Excuse me?

Paulina: You heard me. You two are not going into your bedroom.

Chanel: I–I own my own business. I make my own way and I can do whatever I want.

Tripp: Yeah.

Paulina: Not as long as you’re living under my roof. And certainly not when the both of you are four sheets to the wind. And I certainly– I won’t let you make the mistake of about trying to pay back johnny and allie when all you’ll end up doing is hurting yourselves even more in the process.

Chanel: But, mama, we–we just wanna have fun.

Paulina: Nothing good comes from the kind of fun that you’re talking about. Now maybe it’s not just for revenge. Okay, maybe it’s just looking for some comfort in someone’s arms, but it will be cold comfort come morning. Now, I’ve been there, you two. Now, trust me on that one.

Devil as allie: I have big plans for your little boy child, ben. Big plans. Unfortunately, I need you out of my way.

Ben: Ciara?

Devil as allie: Sound asleep. I didn’t poison her. At least, not yet. I mean, she is the vessel and there is no way in hell I’d do anything to hurt a hair on the head of that precious baby.

Ben: [Mumbling]

Devil as allie: I wouldn’t do that if I were you.

[Heavy thud]

Devil as allie: Looks like it’s curtains for you, ben weston. No matter who you are,

Julie: No offense, mr.–

Tr: Coates.

Julie: Mr. Coates. But it’s been my experience that when the relationship ends, it’s not because things are going swimmingly. And when you showed up, beth couldn’t get out of here fast enough.

Lani: Maybe she had someplace to be.

Julie: Oh, I’m sure she does.

Lani: Um, those– I’m guessing those are for me?

Tr: These long nights by eli’s side, I thought maybe you could use a little pick-me-up.

Lani: Thank you. Really sweet of you.

Julie: Pastries, flowers, unexpected visitors? Eli’s hospital room is turning into a regular grand central station tonight.

Tr: Because eli is loved by a lot of people. And don’t worry, I won’t stay. I have a meeting with a west coast backer.

Julie: Mr. Coates, please. Just one moment of your time before you go.

Tr: Of course. What’s on your mind?

Julie: Well, you’ve been spending a lot of time with lani and the twins.

Tr: Just doing my best to lend a hand.

Julie: Yes. I’m sure she appreciates it. But those are my great-grandbabies too.

Tr: Oh, I’m aware.

Julie: To be blunt, I know that you were a grave danger to paulina and lani in the past.

Tr: That was–

Julie: Yes, years ago. I know that. And I sincerely hope it’s all true and you’ve really turned into a new man. But if that is not quite the case, and you hurt anybody that I love, you’ll have me to deal with. Understand?

Tr: Yes, I do. Loud and clear, mrs. Williams. And I can assure you, you have nothing to worry about. You have a good evening.

Paulina: Chanel, I say this to you because I love you, baby. You just told me the other day that you wanted to take a break from relationships, that you needed to spend some time getting to know yourself. And as for you, didn’t you read my daughter the riot act a few days ago about her relationship with allie?

Tripp: I do feel bad about that.

Paulina: Oh, and this is the way you say you’re sorry? Ooh, you drunk as a skunk, dr. Johnson. Go home. Sleep it off.

[Sighs] I’m going to get you some water. And I’m gonna call you a cab.

Chanel: Awkward.

Tripp: To the nth degree.

Chanel: I–I hope you’re not upset, but I– I think mama’s right.

Tripp: She strikes me as a very, very sensible woman. Mm-hmm. And, like, between you and me, I don’t even know if I’m gonna remember this tomorrow, but… I’m glad we didn’t do anything like, screw anything up between us, you know? That way we can still be friends.

Chanel: Oh, yeah.

Tripp: I mean, we can still be friends, right?

Chanel: Yeah, I’d like that.

Devil as allie: So, how was the show?

Johnny: Chanel and tripp got wasted. They were all over each other at the bar and then they’d left together. But you probably already knew that.

Devil as allie: Want me to change the channel so you can watch them hop into bed?

Johnny: [Scoffs] Hell no, I don’t wanna see that!

Devil as allie: Suit yourself.

Johnny: Did you see ben? What did you do to him?

Devil as allie: I did exactly what I promised. I dealt with ben weston once and for all. Entresto is the number one heart failure brand

Johnny: You “dealt with him?” What does that even mean?

Devil as allie: Stop being such a scaredy cat. It’s good news. Especially for you. See, you’re not going to be alone anymore because you are getting a crypt mate.

Johnny: So you didn’t kill him?

Devil as allie: Johnny, how many living people do you know residing in crypts besides you? And I’m not sure how much longer you’ll be among the living either.

Chanel: Sorry, I’ve been such a mess tonight.

Tripp: Oh, no apologies. We were a mess together.

Chanel: You know, as– as much as I pretend to be all cool and confident and all, it really– it really hurts that– that johnny went halfway around the world to get away from me.

Tripp: Look, look if– if getting away from you was really the reason that he left, then it’s– that jerk is an idiot, all right? I mean that idiot, he’s a– little jerk, you know?

Chanel: Yeah, maybe both are true.

Tripp: Damn, right. I’m not just saying this to make you feel better too. I–I’m–I’m being totally and completely sincere.

Chanel: You sure?

Tripp: Mm-hmm.

Chanel: Even if you won’t remember any of this in the morning?

[Both giggle]

Paulina: Your car is here.

Tripp: Sorry again for being so, you know.

Paulina: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I know, I know. Go home, sleep it off.

Chanel: I’ll walk you out.

Tripp: Oh, you will? That’s so nice of you. And thank–thank you again for your hospitality. You– really, you made me feel very welcome.

[Phone beeps]

Paulina: Tr. “Sweet dreams, paulina. I know I’ll be dreaming of you.”

Kate: Do you really think that paulina would take ray back?

Abe: I don’t know. But she seems to be giving him a chance.

Kate: Actually, that’s not surprising at all. That’s how abusive relationships work.

Abe: Well, I am well aware. But it is not easy to watch.

Kate: I know. If she does take that man back, I feel it won’t end well though. And she is going to need someone to be there to help her pick up the pieces.

Julie: Lani, darling, did I come on too strong with your dad?

Lani: You were direct and fierce. You know I love that about you. We all do.

Julie: [Scoffs] Well, I just wonder what– what beth wanted to tell you.

Lani: I’m sure if it was that big of a deal, she’ll reach out again.

Tr: Hey, bethy. It’s tr.

[Knocking on door] Beth, it’s me. I know it’s late, but I really need to talk to you.

Beth: What do you want?

Tr: What the hell do you think you were doing at the hospital with my daughter?

Beth: I didn’t say anything.

Tr: But you were going to, weren’t you?

[Sighs] I thought we had an agreement, beth. I thought I could trust you! But if I can’t, we’re gonna have to find some other way to make sure you keep our little secret.

Beth: It’s late.

Tr: Don’t you shut me out.

Beth: What are you gonna do?

Tr: What I should’ve done in the first place.

Beth: [Screams]

Johnny: Why are you chaining him up if he’s dead?

Devil as allie: You always were the stupider twin. He’s not dead. Not yet anyway.

[Chains rattling]

Ben: Ciara?

Devil as allie: Apparently, he only knows one word. Ben, ciara’s not here, but johnny is. And the two of you can keep each other company. I’m going to go keep your beautiful wife company and your baby too, of course.

[Sinister music]

Ben: Well, it seems like the least I could do, seeing as that you are carrying my child. And you’re putting up with my dad bunking with us.

Ciara: It is nice to have a little alone time, isn’t it?

Ben: It is.

Clyde: Hey, hey, hey. Hope you got room for these.

Ben: Dad.

Ciara: Oh.

Clyde: I just had to do something to celebrate us having a baby boy.

Ciara: Wow, that is just so thoughtful of you, clyde.

Clyde: And–bear with me on this, I do have an idea about what to name the little fella. I was hoping I could run it by you.

Ben: Go for it.

Clyde: What do you think about clyde benjamin weston, jr?

Lani: Hi, baby. I just talked to jules. Um, paulina can’t get her to sleep. As soon as she heard my voice, she said, “soon dada home?”

[Laughs] She said that because, well, I guess I tell her a version of that every night before she says her prayers. Jules and carver, they miss you so much. And so do I. Baby, please, please, please wake up. Okay, because I don’t know, I don’t know how I’m gonna do this. I don’t know how I can go on without you. Please.

[Baby crying]

Paulina: Ooh, little girl, please. I know you miss your daddy. I know you want your pacifier. I can’t find the damn thing. Oh. Ooh. You need to sleep. Grandma paulina needs a glass of wine. Oh. Ugh.

[Line trilling]

[Line beeps] Voicemail again?

[Sighs] It’s me again, ray. Now, you said that you’d help out with the twins tonight. Where the hell are you? Ooh.

[Dramatic music]

Ej: Hello.

Beth: Hi. My name is beth. I’m looking for johnny dimera. I’m in his movie, and I haven’t heard from him in quite a while.

Ej: I’m johnny’s father. I’m sorry to tell you this, but johnny’s left town.

Beth: When will he be back?

Ej: I wish I knew. At this point, I don’t know if he’ll ever be back.

Johnny: Somebody… help me.

Chanel: I’m here, G.

Ben: Clyde benjamin weston, jr?

Clyde: Yeah.

Ciara: It actually– you know, it can’t even be clyde benjamin weston, jr, because, um, the baby is your grandson, so it would have to be clyde benjamin weston iii.

Clyde: The third, really?

Ciara: Mm-hmm. Yeah. “The third,” and that kind of sounds a little…

Ben: Like he’s gonna be made fun of for the rest of his life.

Ciara: Yeah.

Clyde: Yeah, I never thought of that. Well, it don’t matter, you know. Whatever you name the little guy, I’m gonna love him to death. I’m gonna give him everything I– everything I should’ve given you.

Ciara: We–we really hope we didn’t hurt your feelings.

Clyde: Nah. Not at all. I met this nice lady today. We’re going out on a date.

Ciara: Oh. Well, that’s great. Are you guys going out tonight?

Clyde: Nah, she got a wedding to go to. We’re gonna go out to– oh, I get it! Yeah-ha-ha! You want a little alone time tonight, don’t you?

Ben: Yeah, a little bit would be good, yeah.

Clyde: Yeah. All right, hey. Don’t worry about me. I’ll find something to keep me busy. Enjoy the balloons.

[Laughs]

[Both sigh]

Ej: Johnny left a letter. I didn’t read it until after he was gone. He said that he needed to go back to italy to do some soul-searching.

Beth: So he just took off and didn’t let anyone in the cast know?

Ej: Or any member of his family.

Beth: So you don’t know anything more than I do?

Ej: No. But if he does contact me, I’ll tell him to give you a call.

Beth: Okay. Thanks.

Ej: You’re welcome. Have a good night.

Lani: Any change?

Tripp: I’m sorry.

Lani: I wasn’t expecting anything.

Tripp: We use what’s called the glasgow scale to evaluate a comatose patient. Based on the exam, we give the patient a certain number. Unfortunately, eli’s number hasn’t changed.

Lani: Um, thank you for taking the time to explain that.

Tripp: Happy to do it.

Lani: Yeah, um, it’s really kind of you. I actually wasn’t expecting that.

Tripp: Wasn’t expecting what?

Lani: For you to be so generous and attentive with your time.

Tripp: Why wouldn’t I be?

Lani: Because I know how bad chanel and allie hurt you.

Chanel: Okay. I will. But first I have to tell you something. It’s about allie. Okay, so I knew there was something off about her when she came back to nicole’s yesterday. And then I found out that the cake that we made for ben and ciara’s gender reveal party, it didn’t have the right filling. It was supposed to be blueberries, but it looked like blood. And she told ben and ciara that I did it.

Johnny: Okay, chanel, uh, I’ve–I’ve been chained up here for what feels like forever. I was afraid I was gonna die in here, and you’re talking about freaking cake?

Chanel: I just need you to understand that I had it out with allie, and then–I don’t know how to tell you this, but allie is possessed. So allie didn’t do this to you. The devil did it, because the devil is in allie now.

Ej: And you’re not really interested in running drugs.

Abigail: Oh, god, there’s no stopping me now. I’m sure you also remember that somebody hit me from behind while I was talking to ava vitali. Ava had an accomplice, and now I know who that person was.

Xander: Yeah. It was the pilot that took you to the island.

Abigail: No. No, I mean yes, he is the person who flew me to the island, but he’s not the person who knocked me out. Sister, did you want to tell your fiancé who that person was, or should I?

[Dramatic music]

Ben: This stuff is amazing.

Jake: Yeah, right.

Ben: Really.

Jake: Friggin’ padano on some sourdough.

Ben: A step up from my chips and dip.

Jake: [Laughs] Dude. Ava, I’m tell you, can cook her face off. My palate? Getting a freaking education.

Ben: Lucky you.

Jake: Yeah, not to mention she gives a wicked massage.

Ben: Bro, that is literally every person’s dream roommate.

Jake: Right?

Ben: I just didn’t know you two were that close.

Jake: We weren’T. I mean, we worked together in philly, but I kept my distance, but she was so down and out, after this breakup with rafe, I figured I’d help her out.

Ben: Who’s sleeping on the air mattress?

Jake: Me, hence the massages. Yeah.

Ben: Right. Right. So do you think this is gonna be like a long-term thing, or…

Jake: I don’t know, man. Probably not, because, as great as the food is, you know, this place is cramped. Plus, there’s the other thing.

Ben: What’s the other thing?

Jake: Ava just got arrested, and, from what rafe said, she’s going to be a guest of the state for a long time.

Gabi: Rafe. Okay, come on. Could you at least try to smile? I mean, the woman who set out to ruin your life is finally gonna pay.

Rafe: Okay, listen. What ava did was wrong, and she needs to pay the consequences, but I don’t think it is something that I should celebrate. Okay?

Gabi: Okay. I’m your sister, and I love you, and I’m only asking you this because I care, all right? Do you have any human emotion, at all? Because I get it. Everybody knows you’re all that truth and justice and the american way. Yeah, we know, but is there a tiny, tiny part inside of you that is happy that she’s in a cell? I mean, she did it to you.

Rafe: If I gloated, I wouldn’t be perfect.

Gabi: And we can’t have that now, can we?

Rafe: Listen, I get it, I hurt her, but–

Gabi: But what?

Rafe: Okay. If she had keyed my car or slashed my tires, all right, I let it go. You know? But she came after me, my job, what I do–

Gabi: Who you are.

Rafe: Yes!

Gabi: And for that, she deserves everything she’s got coming to her.

Rafe: Yes she does! Yeah.

Gabi: To ava vitali, going off to statesville for a very, very long time!

Rafe: Very long.

Ava: Or not.

Abigail: Well, looks like the cat’s got her tongue.

Xander: You’re enjoying this.

Abigail: Oh, you bet your ass I am, just like she enjoyed sending me to the asylum, just like she enjoyed spending new year’s eve with my husband. Oh, god. Am I stooping to your level?

Xander: Wait, you were hit on the back of the head. You can’t know who did it.

Abigail: You’re right. You’re right. I couldn’t see who hit me from behind. I couldn’t see who walked up behind me and clubbed me like an animal, but ava could, and did, and then she told me all about it. And then she told the da all about it. So… [Chuckles] Did you kids write your own vows?

Chad: You talked to ava? She told you all of this?

Abigail: Yeah. Some things happened after you went to new york. Ava got arrested. Her back’s against the wall. And, yeah, you know what they say about honor among thieves.

Xander: Wait, wait, wait. Ava got arrested and she called you?

Abigail: Yeah. Yeah, because she remembered that after I was kidnapped, chad came to her, offered to help her get a deal if and only if she named her accomplice.

Gwen: Right. So you admit, then, that ava said all of this because she was just trying to save her own ass? Don’t you think that that makes her testimony just a little less credible?

Abigail: Well, I imagine at your trial, which I’m personally looking really forward to, your lawyer’s going to bring that up. But right now, I’m not really worried about legal issues. I’m more interested in the court of public opinion! Specifically xander’s opinion.

Xander: What? Gwen’s right. I mean, ava’s not exactly trustworthy even when she isn’t facing prison time.

Abigail: Would it interest you to know that she told me gwen was the person who attacked me before she offered her immunity?

Xander: Why would she do that?

Abigail: She wanted me to be able to go to trask with something concrete. Assault, kidnapping. However, ava, you know, she’s still holding onto her little trump card because this whole night at the airstrip–that’s just the tip of the iceberg for her. Turns out, she’s got a whole lot more she can tell trask about what her dear friend, gwen, has been doing since that night. Turns out, that night is nothing compared to what she did later.

Justin: What could be worse than kidnapping her own sister?

Xander: Yeah, I’d like to hear the answer to that one too.

Abigail: What gwen did to me was terrible. But it is nothing compared to what she did to sarah.

[Dramatic music]

Ben: I don’t blame gabi for wanting to make ava pay for what she did to rafe.

Jake: Yeah, I don’t think that was gabi’s sole motive.

Ben: Meaning what?

Jake: I don’t think she was too thrilled with ava moving in here.

Ben: Oh, so she got her arrested to keep her away from you?

Jake: Well, gabi said she thinks ava only moved here to get under her skin.

Ben: So that’s what gabi thinks. What do you think? You think ava’s up to something?

Gabi: The hell are you doing out of jail?

Ava: Nice to see you, too, gabi.

Gabi: She escaped. No, you have to re-arrest her!

Ava: Right, I staged a jailbreak and came directly to an upscale little bar right in the middle of the town square. Guess you got all the brains in the family.

Rafe: So you made bail.

Ava: No. I didn’t have to. All the charges were dropped against me. I’m free as a bird.

Rafe: Yeah, right.

Ava: Oh, yeah. Read it and weep.

[Smooth jazz playing]

Rafe: I’ll be damned.

Gabi: What does it say?

Rafe: Trask gave her immunity in exchange for her testimony against someone else.

Gabi: She cannot do that!

Ava: Well, she’s the da, which means she can do whatever she wants. And since all the charges were dropped against me, so can I. Oh, rafe, please tell nicole I say hi. And, gabi…

Gabi: What?

Ava: I’ll be sure to give jake your regards.

Rafe: Wow.

Xander: So what exactly did gwen supposedly do to sarah?

Gwen: Nothing! Nothing. I barely even know her.

Abigail: No, but you know that xander loves her, that he wanted to marry her, and that you are only a part of the picture because she’s out of it.

Gwen: No, that was kristen dimera. She’s the one who kidnapped.

Abigail: True. True, but you were bound and determined to make sure she stayed kidnapped. So, back to the airstrip. I was beginning to figure out what had actually happened, that it was not, in fact, sarah who had come back to tell you that it was over, but it was someone in one of kristen’s frigging masks. So you clock me over the head, have me sent off to the very same island where you know for a fact that kristen is keeping the real sarah. Gwen knew that sarah was alive.

Gwen: No–

Abigail: She knew where she was, but she didn’t feel that you had the right to that information, and she didn’t tell sarah’s mother who, you know, was wandering around here, wondering why her daughter is ghosting her.

Gwen: Don’t, don’t, don’t–

Abigail: And the fact that she knew exactly where sarah was makes perfect sense because that’s why she freaked out when I said I was gonna go look for her.

Xander: Gwen couldn’t know where sarah was. None of us did until chad found you.

Abigail: Kristen. Kristen knew. And that right there is the connection that you need to make sure all of this finally makes sense. Because, xander, you know better than anyone that kristen likes to have somebody else do her dirty work for her. And she knew that gwen would do anything, anything, to get you to marry her. Boy. Y’all were just a couple minutes from the “I dos,” weren’t ya? So near, yet so far. Okay, this is a freezer, not a time capsule.

Gwen: Xander, I swear i didn’t know that sarah was on that island until you told me that she had been rescued. She is lying!

Abigail: Oh, okay. Oh, so this is like a “she said, she said” sort of thing now. Well, I guess it’s time for, you know, evidence. District attorney trask was kind enough to present me with a copy of ava’s statement, and, according to her sworn affidavit, gwen found out that sarah was on the island back in november.

Xander: November?

Abigail: And for those of y’all keeping score, chad and I– we didn’t bring sarah back until–I don’t know. What was it, baby? March? March. So that means gwen knew that sarah was on the island for four months? Wow. Well, you know, I guess that must’ve slipped your mind, but, you know, you were planning this whole wedding and all.

Jake: Gabi wasn’t wrong. Ava did enjoy driving her crazy. I mean, ava made gabi think that ava and I slept together.

Ben: Good thing gabi’s not the jealous type.

Jake: Our gabi? No. Dude, I practically had to train her with a fire hose to get her from killing ava.

Ben: Did you?

Jake: Train her with a fire hose? No.

Ben: Not that hose.

Jake: Oh!

Ben: Hey! Did you sleep with ava?

Jake: Like I said, okay, ava made gabi think we slept together.

Ben: Okay! All right! Not really a tough sell. I mean, ava’s a very attractive woman. You’re both free. Not exactly a stretch.

Jake: And that’s exactly what it was. Literally, a stretch. Ava gave me a massage. That’s it.

Ben: And there was no interest in returning the favor?

Jake: It wouldn’t matter if there was any interest because ava is in jail.

Ava: Not anymore.

Jake: Hey.

Ava: Hey.

Jake: I wasn’t expecting to see you till, well, never.

Ava: Oh. Well, rumors of my incarceration have been greatly exaggerated.

Jake: Hmm.

Gabi: You let that lying maniac go?

Melinda: Excuse me?

Gabi: Ava vitali. She tracked me and rafe down, said you let her go. Could you please explain how that happened?

Melinda: No, I don’t have to explain anything to you. It’s none of your business.

Gabi: The hell it’s not! I risked life and limb to get you that evidence that you needed, and now you’re just gonna let her walk?

Melinda: She had her own evidence, truly damning evidence.

Xander: Say it isn’t– say it isn’t true.

Gwen: I can’t do that.

Xander: You knew what happened to sarah, and you didn’t say anything? How did you find out?

Abigail: Kristen knew. Kristen told her in true kristen style. She blackmailed gwen into helping her escape. She told gwen if she didn’t help her escape prison, she was gonna come to you and tell you the entire truth about sarah. Now, we all know that kristen is very, very good at reading people. She sized up gwen and said, “now, that is a woman who would do anything, anything to get what she wants. Even posing as sarah.”

Xander: Posing as sarah?

Abigail: Yeah. Yeah, I mean, surely you remember when sarah came back to town a while back to reject you for the second time. Well, according to ava, that was just gwen wearing a mask and apparently really just nailing her impression of sarah. Except, of course, you know, sarah’s good heart. And would never have treated you so cruelly.

Xander: That was you? You used–you used sarah? You told me that you hated me, that I should stop obsessing about you and go back to gwen. My god. How could you have possibly have done that? We hit the bike trails every weekend

Gwen: Don’t you see? I was just so afraid of losing you. I’d already lost my father. He had turned his back on both of us.

Jennifer: So sarah’s life just didn’t matter, right?

Gwen: Kristen told me she was fine and that she was well taken care of.

Justin: Right. And you believed that because a sociopath’s word is her bond?

Gwen: No, I didn’t know what she was like. I didn’t know kristen the way that all of you did.

Abigail: Yeah, but you knew that sarah’s mother was worried sick, and, as it turns out, for good reason. And kristen did not just kidnap sarah. She drugged her. So it must’ve been really nice that you and kristen had that in common.

Gwen: I thought that that would make it better for sarah.

Xander: You thought that would make it…

[Yelling] Better?

[Quiet dramatic music]

Gwen: Okay. Okay. Kristen told me that she did it just to calm her down. She said that sarah went with her willingly.

Xander: And that makes it okay?

Gwen: Xander, she wasn’t suffering. She didn’t even know who she was.

Abigail: Because she was out of her mind. And you made sure that she stayed that way.

Jake: Here you go.

Ava: Thanks. You know, I should be used to it by now, but I really hate being arrested.

Ben: Yeah, it definitely breaks up a day, huh? Anyway, the two of you obviously have a lot to talk about, so I’m gonna shove off.

Jake: All right. Hey. Give ciara my best. Keep me posted, huh?

Ben: Will do, brother.

Jake: All right.

Ben: Ava, congrats. Enjoy your freedom.

Ava: Oh, believe me, I will. Oh, this is so much nicer than prison coffee.

Jake: So what happened? Huh? When rafe arrested you, he seemed pretty convinced he had you dead to rights. I think I remember the phrase “concrete evidence.”

Ava: Yeah. That’s just something gabi cooked up. You know, she really should learn not to play out of her league.

Gabi: So ava turned on one of her cronies, and you made a deal with her? After what she did to rafe?

Melinda: I’m not about to justify myself to you.

Gabi: [Snorts]

Melinda: Commissioner hernandez.

Rafe: Oh, see, I had a feeling that she would be here.

Melinda: As I was just explaining to your sister, ava vitali gave us a much higher-profile case to prosecute. Don’t take it personally.

Rafe: Oh, okay. “Don’t take it personally”? Don’t–she railroaded me, okay? Then you rolled over for that? And now you’re about to make another deal with her?

Gabi: ‘Cause there’s just the off chance that she’s lying because, you know, every single word that comes out of her mouth is a lie.

Melinda: I was actually just about to call you. Given the high-profile nature of this case, the arrest needs to be by the book. I want you to handle this personally.

Rafe: Sure. You want to tell me who it is that I will be arresting?

Melinda: Gwen rizczech.

Xander: What do you mean gwen made sure sarah stayed out of her mind?

Gwen: Xander, before she says anything, you have to understand, I was so afraid of losing you, I just panicked.

Abigail: Bitch, you did not panic. You saw that sarah was something that stood in the way of what you wanted, and so you made very careful plans, and you executed them flawlessly, like you have from the moment you set foot in this town, to give her her dues. The woman is an a+ planner.

Xander: Abigail, please, just… this is hard. Just tell me.

Abigail: I’m sorry. Chad, honey, do you remember when you told me that rolf said that he was certain that the antidote should’ve worked?

Chad: He couldn’t believe it when it didn’t and that it actually made sarah worse.

Abigail: That is because the injection that anna gave to sarah was not the antidote.

Xander: No.

Abigail: Yes. Gwen went to the hospital. She switched the syringes, and so sarah did not get the antidote. Instead, she got another dose of the original–well, I guess “poison” wouldn’t be too strong of a word for it, would it?

[Dramatic music]

It’s started. Somewhere between a cuddle

Abigail: I’m sorry if I have been a little emotional, but this all just feels very personal. Because, you see, gwen told ava that she had that original drug because it was left over from when she gave it to me. This is not new territory. This is not a tragic mistake. You know in detail what that drug will do to a person’s brain, and then you did it again, to someone you barely know, a good person who has done you no harm at all. And you planned it in advance, and you made sure you weren’t there when it happened. So, no, gwen, that’s not panic. That’s premeditation.

Jack: Is that true?

Jennifer: Jack!

Jack: Is that true? It is, isn’t it?

Abigail: All of it.

Gwen: Dad. You were gone.

Jack: Don’t ever call me that again. I forgave and forgave and forgave and believed that you could be saved, that everything that you ever did was my fault. But now this? There are no words. I am done with you.

[Melancholy music]

Gwen: [Crying] Xander? Are you done with me too?

Xander: You knew how much i loved sarah. You knew where she was. You knew what kristen had done to her. And then we finally got her back, and we were this close to saving her, to– to sarah being sarah again. You might as well have just put a bullet through her brain. You are the worst person I’ve ever known.

[Dramatic music]

Rafe: Well, I guess I better get over to that wedding before the mob turns on the bride.

Melinda: Okay, by the way, make sure you bring her in the front way, and make sure she’s cuffed. I wanna make sure that the “intruder” and the “spectator” get nice shots of her on the police station steps.

Rafe: Oh, you’re just craving those headlines, huh? Who would’ve thought?

Gabi: Uh-uh, not so fast. I’m not done with you yet.

Ava: I’m exhausted. But as promised, I’m taking the air mattress. I do not want you throwing your back out again.

Jake: I got a better option.

Ava: Yeah, what’s that?

Jake: Why don’t we share the bed?

[Somber music]

Gwen: Xander.

Abigail: Let it go. You’ve done enough already.

Gwen: This was none of your damned business.

Abigail: Actually, it was. Not only was sarah my cousin, but she was a human being, something you clearly know nothing about.

Gwen: Oh, you go to hell! You don’t fool me just because you cloud it all in this horton morality, horton gentility. I know that this is payback, and you and your old lady– you are no better than me! And your bogus, disgusting piety just makes sick!

Jennifer: You think you’re so tough?

Gwen: You make me sick!

Jennifer: Standing there, yelling in everyone’s face? I don’t care if I make you sick. You’re not tough. She’s tough. She has a backbone, and you are a coward. And she brought you down.

Gwen: Oh, you shut up.

Jennifer: No, I’m not gonna shut up. What else do you wanna say? Go ahead.

Abigail: Gwen. I believe you have a gentleman caller.

Gwen: Oh.

Rafe: Gwen rizczech. You are under arrest. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford one, one will be appointed for you. It’s my 5:52 woke-up-like-this migraine medicine.

Jennifer: Are you all right?

Jack: No. But I will be.

Jennifer: At least it’s over, jack.

Jack: Yeah. It is over.

Abigail: Dad…

Jack: No, no, no, you don’t have to say anything. We’re good. You did what you had to do.

Abigail: I didn’t want to be right, but she had to be stopped.

Jennifer: Let’s just go home, all right? Let’s just head out and just go.

Gwen: Oh, so you can break out the bubbly? Yeah? Have a bit of a gloat?

Jennifer: No.

Gwen: Why? Why? I mean, this is what you always wanted, isn’t it? Me, out of the picture. To get rid of me like your rotten mom did to me.

Rafe: Okay, let’s get going, shall we?

Gwen: Just so you know, your precious grandmother– I killed that old bitch on purpose.

Rafe: Come on! Let’s go.

Melinda: Get your hands off of me. Are you nuts?

Gabi: No. No, but I’m not gonna sit around and watch ava vitali get off scot-free.

Melinda: Is that a threat, ms. Hernandez?

Gabi: Excuse me, that’s mrs. Dimera to you. And I don’t make threats. I make waves, like the one I’m about to make to your boss, mayor carver. I can’t wait to see what he thinks when he finds out that you let ava vitali free after what she did to rafe… with your help.

Melinda: Bitch.

Ava: Are you sure about this?

Jake: Why not? Both adults.

Ava: Yeah, maybe the fact that we are both adults is why not.

Jake: What? You never shared a bed with anybody platonically?

Ava: Actually, no. What about you?

Jake: Yeah, no.

Ava: Guess so.

Jennifer: Hey. Well, it’s been hours. Did you talk to trask? Did she make a deal with ava?

Abigail: I wasn’t able to get ahold of her. I’m assuming she’s still thinking it over.

Jennifer: Honey, what– what is there to think over? Ava admitted that gwen was the one that knocked you out and then helped christy kidnap you.

Abigail: Hopefully, hopefully trask will just grant ava immunity and then she’ll just spill the rest of it. But in the meantime, we st– we got to keep quiet and we can’t tip gwen off.

Jennifer: Oh, you’re right.

Gwen: So how do I look?

Abigail: Beautiful. Beautiful. Doesn’t she mom?

Jennifer: Yes. I can find– hardly find words.

Gwen: I can’t believe it’s finally happening. I’m gonna marry the man of my dreams.

Xander: [Sighs] What a glorious evening. Tonight I’m gonna marry your incredible daughter and then spend the rest of my life trying to make her happy. Isn’t that right, dad?

Jack: I think I told you “dad” is not happening.

Xander: Hm. Pops?

Jack: No.

Jack: You know, there’s still time for me to stop this wedding.

[Cell phone ringing] It’s maggie. It must be about sarah. Hello?

Bonnie: [Clears throat]

Justin: Yeah, I’m not a big fan of leo’s either, especially after what he did to sonny.

Bonnie: You know, it’s a shame sonny couldn’t change craig’s mind.

Justin: It is. I guess there’s nothing anyone can say or do to change his mind about leo.

Craig: Hey. Why aren’t you dressed?

Leo: Hang on a second. Let me drink this in.

Craig: What are you doing?

Leo: I’m documenting my big day for my socials.

Craig: Yeah?

Leo: I need all of my friends to be adequately jealous and filled with a severe case of fomo.

Jack: What did she say?

Xander: She just wanted to wish me well. It was very gracious of her.

Jack: And sarah?

Xander: Well, there’s no change in her condition. Her mind is still all jumbled up in the past.

Jack: I’m very sorry to hear that.

Xander: Yeah, me too.

Jennifer: Hey.

Jack: Hey.

Jennifer: Don’t you know it’s impolite to be more handsome than the groom? No offense, xander.

Xander: None taken.

Jennifer: How are you feeling?

Xander: Like the luckiest man in the world.

Jack: Where are my two daughters?

Jennifer: They are in the lobby getting ready.

Xander: I didn’t see them go in.

Jennifer: Well, gwen thought we should sneak through the back so you wouldn’t get a look at her dress.

Xander: My bride, she always has a trick of her sleeve, doesn’t she?

Jennifer: Yes, she does.

Gwen: Thank you.

Abigail: Just doing my job.

Gwen: No, I mean, thank you for being here for me now as my matron of honor. I know it was under duress.

Abigail: I’m exactly where I need to be and so are you.

Gwen: Where’s chad?

Abigail: He and my cousin, sonny, had to make a quick trip out of town.

Gwen: So he won’t be coming tonight?

Abigail: We were hoping that he was gonna get back in time for the wedding, but it just doesn’t really look like that’s gonna happen.

Brady: I need your help with something.

Justin: What is it?

Brady: I need you to draw out the ceremony as long as possible. Whatever you do, do not let craig and leo tie the knot.

Justin: Can I ask why?

Brady: Let’s just say that chloe and I hope that this match made in hell goes up in flames.

Chloe: [Laughing] And I’m so sorry that joy and parker can’t be here today–

Craig: Oh, last minute, honey; it’s okay. I, um– I did invite your mom. I think that might be a little too much of an ask though.

Chloe: Yeah, yeah, maybe. Maybe too much. I don’t know–

Bonnie: Hey. Hey. Thought you’re gonna bring your hot new beau. Did your date not go well?

Nancy: Oh, no, it went great. We’re–we’re having dinner tomorrow night.

Bonnie: Second date, oh, score. Why isn’t he escorting you to the wedding?

Justin: Okay, two weddings coming right up. With depression, you just feel…blah.

Gwen: About chad not being here?

Abigail: It’s nothing to do with you, I promise.

Gwen: Good, I’m glad. You may not believe this, but… I am really glad that you are here for me today. Obviously, we’ve had our ups and our downs, mostly downs, but you’re my sister. And I’m looking at today as a fresh start for both of us.

Chloe: Hey, we’re about to start. Are you ready, gwen?

Gwen: I am.

Jack: You look radiant, sweetheart.

Chloe: [Sighs] Is too much to hope that that lowlife creep got cold feet?

Gwen: Well, it’s nothing I wasn’t expecting

Leo: You look stunning, gwen.

Gwen: And you, my darling friend, you look absolutely to die for.

Leo: Thank you, my dear. By the way, great job drawing up that prenup so fast.

Justin: Trust me, it was my pleasure.

[Clears throat] Family, friends, we are gathered here in this iconic square to celebrate the union of not just one couple, but two, not just two souls, but four. So on behalf of alexandros cook, gwen rizczech, dr. Craig wesley, matthew cooper, aka leo stark, I thank you all for being here and sharing in their very special day. Now, as most of you know, marriage is an honorable institution and should not be entered into lightly or unadvisedly. If any person here can show just cause why either couple should not be joined in holy matrimony, let them speak now or forever hold their peace. All right. Moving along.

Nancy: Wait. I have something to say.

Bonnie: Nancy, what are you doing?

Leo: What is she doing?

Craig: I have no idea.

Chloe: Mom, this is not the right time.

Nancy: Sweetheart, it’s all right. I need to say this. Craig wesley, though we are no longer married, we will always be family. Nothing will ever change that. So I just want to say from the bottom of my heart, I wish you all the happiness in the world.

Craig: Thank you, nancy. I can’t tell you how much that means to me.

Leo: Yes, thank you for saying that in the middle of my wedding.

Nancy: Oh, and by the way, I just want to say for the record, I have a date tomorrow night.

Bonnie: And he’s quite a stud.

Craig: Justin.

Justin: Okay, well, I think what nancy’s lovely speech highlighted is that we are all here to share and support to these two couples. There’s not a large crowd, but it’s certainly a devoted one. Jack deveraux looking dashing, standing up for his friend and soon to be son-in-law. Jack’s doing double duty tonight. He walked his daughter, gwen, down the aisle as well. You must be very excited tonight.

Jack: I certainly am.

Justin: Yes. And abigail dimera standing up for her sister, gwen. And by the way, you look especially lovely tonight.

Abigail: Thank you.

Justin: Chloe lane, here for her father, craig.

Leo: Are we doing roll call now?

Justin: And chloe, of course, as usual, looking as radiant as ever. And leo, I’m wondering, uh, it doesn’t appear you have anyone here with you today.

Leo: Well, I would have, of course, but there were some scheduling snafus. You know how it goes. But now that I think about it, I should have a best man of my own, so, um… brady, I now pronounce you my best man.

Brady: Me?

Leo: Yes, you, big guy. Make sure you have a nice speech prepared for the reception. Can’t wait to hear all the wonderful things you have to say about me.

Justin: Okay. Now that we have acknowledged the wedding party, perhaps it’s time for a prayer.

Leo: A prayer? We’re not here for a sermon, padre, we’re here to get married.

Justin: Are you sure?

Leo: Uh-huh.

Justin: A little invocation, or maybe even a long one, never hurt anyone.

Leo: How about later? You can, invocate your little tush off after you marry us.

Justin: All right. Okay. Well, then I guess it’s time for the vows. Why don’t we start with gwen and xander?

Gwen: I think that actually leo and craig should go first, because, well, they’ve been so generous to share this beautiful venue with us and– well, xander and I are just so grateful.

Leo: Gwennie, I would do anything for you.

Justin: Okay, ah, well, before we start the official vows, why don’t– is there anything the grooms would like to say? Leo, I’m sure you have something to share with everyone.

Leo: Well, I never miss an opportunity to speak in front of a crowd. Anyway, I would just like to thank you all for coming. Not as large a group as I was expecting, but it’s all about quality, not quantity, right? Anyway, this is the happiest day of my life truly. Standing up here with my dearest guinevere, and her betrothed, xander. If my situation were different, I would be green with jealousy, because, well, need I explain. I mean, the bod, the punim, mm. Gwennie you are a very lucky lady. In any case, there is only one man for me, and that is you, craig. Before we met, I was aimless, lost. My life was dark and empty, and you filled it with your beautiful life. You shone upon me a love and a warmth that I’ve been searching for my entire life. I stand before you not only fabulous, but also happy, fulfilled, and eager to share the rest of my life with you. You’re my everything, my raison d’tre. And I will love you forever.

Justin: Craig, do you have anything to say?

Craig: Uh… well, if I did, I probably wouldn’t be able to get it out. Ditto will have to suffice. Justin.

Leo: Of course not. This is completely ridiculous. Don’t listen to anything he has to say. This is another insulting and degrading attempt to break us up, all because he is disdainful of the intense and passionate love we share, all because he refuses to believe that somebody can change for the better. Distinguished guests, every word out of this man’s mouth is a lie.

Chad: Okay, craig and everyone else, I know you have every reason to doubt me, so don’t take my word for it. Why don’t you listen to world-renowned drag queen, jackie cox.

Jackie: Hello, salem. Greetings. Hi. Sorry to crash the party, but I do love some wedding drama.

Craig: Who the hell is this?

Chad: This is leo’s bff. I met jackie in arizona last year when leo tried to abscond with that emerald.

Leo: Allegedly.

Jackie: Clearly, I left quite an impression.

Leo: Jackie, what are you doing here?

Jackie: Well, I was in new york performing my hit one-woman show, “jackievision,” now on tour, when sonny and chad showed up backstage.

Chad: Sonny got a work call on the way here, otherwise he would’ve had a front row seat. But anyway, we tracked down jackie be–

Jackie: Uh, blue eyes, let me tell the story.

Chad: Right, sorry.

Jackie: The boys made their pitch and offered to fly me on a private jet right here to salem so that I could speak my truth.

Craig: And what is that exactly?

Jackie: Just as chad said, leo is already married– wedded, hitched, boo’d up.

Leo: How would that even be possible? I wouldn’t have been able to get a marriage license.

Jackie: Oh, leo, leo. We both know it’s because you married me using your birth name, super duper matthew cooper. I added the super duper part.

Leo: Jackie, can we go somewhere and talk?

Jackie: Mm, I think this is actually the perfect setting.

Chloe: This is more than I’d hoped for.

Craig: Leo, what the hell is going on?

Leo: Well, well, clearly, chad has paid jackie off. Why else would you be doing this? Why are you spreading these terrible lies?

Jackie: [Laughs heartily] Save it, sister. Read it and try not to weep.

Jennifer: Is this for real?

Jack: I don’t know, but I find this strangely riveting.

Craig: It’s says here that matthew cooper is lawfully wedded to darius rose. Who the hell is darius rose?

Leo: There is no darius rose. This is made up.

Jackie: Oh, no? No darius rose? Hold my purse, mary poppins. You and I need to set the record straight, so to speak. We women are in the know about everything.

Jackie: So you see, I’m not merely jackie cox, drag queen, entertainer, dancer, comedian, billy reid enthusiast. I’m all also darius rose, darius rose cooper, doting husband to one mr. Matthew cooper.

Craig: You’re married to him–her?

Jackie: I’m out of drag. You can use he/him or they/them pronouns. And thanks for asking.

Craig: Leo, tell me.

Leo: Okay, fine. Darius and I were married–

Jackie: Are married.

Nancy: Oh, my god.

Bonnie: Oh, my god.

Leo: But it’s not what it looks like.

Craig: Well, then what is it?

Leo: Darius–darius needed a green card.

Bonnie: He doesn’t seem foreign to me.

Leo: He’s from canada. If he wanted to live and work in this country, we had to get married. I did it as a favor for a friend.

Craig: Okay, so you’re just saying that you’re friends, right?

Leo: Well, we– we did hook up a few times, then we realized we were better off as sisters.

Craig: Okay. Is that it? Is that true?

Jackie: Yes. These days our relationship is strictly platonic. No hanky, even less panky.

Chloe: Okay, well that doesn’t change the fact that leo just tried to commit bigamy. If chad and jackie hadn’t just shown up, you’d be roped into some fraudulent marriage. Dad, come on.

Leo: I’m sorry. Craig, I tried to tell you, but you proposed out of the blue and it was so sweet, and then the wedding got moved up and I just got so wrapped up with imagining fabulous outfits and honeymoons. I really did try and tell you, but it’s not a real marriage.

Brady: He still lied to you.

Leo: To protect a friend. If–if I divorce darius, he loses his green card, he gets sent back to canada. Do you know how cold it is up there when you like to wear miniskirts? They eat moose.

Jackie: Matty, babe, no trash talking a-boot the motherland.

Leo: Ugh, sorry. Very polite people and you know I’m a huge hockey fan.

Craig: Okay, this is obviously a very complicated situation.

Chloe: It’s not that complicated. Dad, come on.

Craig: Leo, I am– I’m not happy that you lied to me, but I get it.

Chloe: What?

Leo: Thank you. Craig, you are a true empath.

Chloe: [Sighs]

Brady: You know what? It doesn’t matter whether– whether you forgive him or not. He’s still married. You can’t go through with this wedding.

Craig: So justin, is there anything you can do to help figure this out?

Justin: Well, I can look at some options, but it’s gonna take some time.

Craig: So this can’t happen today? Is that what you’re saying?

Justin: No. I’m sorry. I can’t sanction this marriage.

Leo: [Sighs] Well, as disappointing as that is, maybe it’s for the best. I mean, look at these angry, judgmental faces. When we do get married, it should be around people who support and love us, not a gaggle of haters.

Chad: Seriously? You’re blaming us?

Leo: Let’s get out of here. Let’s let gwennie and xander continue on with their wedding.

Craig: Fine with me.

Bonnie: Oh, come on, craig!

Nancy: Bonnie–

Bonnie: No, he’s taking him for a ride!

Leo: Will you all get this through your judgy heads? I married darius because I would go to the ends of the earth to help a friend. When I marry craig, it will be for love and love only.

Chad: Yeah, no. I’m not buying that. Darius, tell him.

Leo: Darius, I swear to god.

Craig: Wait, there’s more?

Chad: Jackie, you said you would tell the truth, all of it.

Jackie: Fine. I’ll tell it, but only because I’m a big fan of honesty. Well, at least in certain situations. Anyway, leo doesn’t love you, doc. Sure, he thinks you’re good-looking for your age and have a decent sense of humor, little corny sometimes, but at least you’re not a total sourpuss, or so he tells me. But really what he cares about is that you’re a doctor, that you rake in the big bucks.

Craig: And how does he know this?

Jackie: Because I am leo’s confidant. And from what he’s shared with moi, your entire relationship has been one big flimflam. We hit the bike trails every weekend

Leo: A flimflam? Who’s ever even heard of that expression? What is it from, the dark ages?

Jackie: Mid-16th century, scandinavian origin. It means fraud.

Craig: There is nothing flimflam about leo’s and my relationship.

Jackie: Look, doc, you seem like a decent guy, and I’m proud of you for owning who you are. But to leo, you’re nothing more than a mark.

Leo: He’s lying. I swear, he is.

Jackie: Matty, babe, be real. You’ve been targeting him since the moment you met him at that medical convention.

Craig: Wh– how do you know about that?

Jackie: Because I’m leo’s confidant, remember? When he came home that night, on cloud nine I might add, talking about this rich, hot doctor, we discussed over several appletinis how someone in your position, older, closeted, would be easily susceptible to leo’s charms.

Chad: So they concocted a plan to get you to marry him, illegally, of course, because obviously, well, they’re married, then file for divorce and take you to the cleaners.

Leo: They’re–they’re lying. Craig, I would never do that to you. I signed the prenup, remember?

Jackie: You want to see the text messages?

Chad: Yeah, I’ve seen ’em. They’re not pretty.

Gwen: Wait a minute. If this is true, why would you explode your own plan? Why would you stab leo in the back before getting your own payoff?

Jackie: Because he stabbed me in the back first.

Chad: Brady texted me about the aforementioned prenup, that leo gave up his right to craig’s money.

Jackie: Our money–half of that was supposed to be mine. You screwed me over, matty!

Leo: I tried to call and tell you, but your mailbox was full. My god, do you never delete messages?

Craig: So it’s true? This has all been a scam.

Leo: No, no. It was in the beginning, but along the way, I fell for you. I really did.

Chloe: Ugh, please.

Leo: Chloe, it’s not a lie. That’s why when you so rudely shoved that prenup in my face, I signed it. I didn’t care about your money, I just wanted you. Craig, please look at me. I’m telling you the truth.

Craig: When?

Leo: When what?

Craig: You said you fell in love with me. When did that happen?

Leo: I’m not sure. It might have been when you were defending me to your daughter and telling her how much I meant to you. It might have been when we were lying in bed talking about our future. Or maybe it was when you proposed to me. I don’t know, but somewhere along the way, you stopped being a mark, and you started being the man that I love, please… please, can you forgive me? Can we please move past this?

[Dramatic music]

It’s my 4:05, the-show-must-go-on,

Chad: Thank you for coming, darius. You really helped us out.

Jackie: Thanks. Though I have to say, I feel pretty guilty for wrecking leo like that.

Abigail: Telling craig the truth was the right thing to do.

Jackie: Even if I wasn’t doing it for purely altruistic reasons?

Chad: My driver will take you to the jet whenever you’re ready. You should be able to make it back to new york in plenty of time for your show.

Jackie: I like your style, dimera.

Chad: Back at you, jackie.

Abigail: We want to come see your show one of these days.

Jackie: Anytime. Come as my guests. You’ll have to pay full price, of course. Jackie cox doesn’t do freebies. And bring cash for tips. And there’s a two drink minimum. And don’t forget belinda chinashop.

[Cellphone ringing]

Abigail: Excuse me. Sorry. I got to take this real quick.

Leo: Get out of my way.

Brady: You are not going anywhere near craig again. You understand me? It’s over, leo.

Chloe: Thanks. Dad, I’m so sorry.

Craig: Yeah? Why is that? I mean, you got what you wanted. You and your friends, you stopped me from marrying leo and made a fool out of me in the process.

Chloe: No, it wasn’t about that, dad. You–you’re not a fool. You fell in love. Okay?

Craig: Yeah. Yeah, I fell in love.

[Crying] It hurts so much.

Chad: Abigail’s been on the phone for a while. Do you know who she’s talking to or what she’s talking about?

Jack: Well, maybe it’s “spectator” business, maybe she’s just following up on a big lead.

Jennifer: There’s something that the two of you should probably know.

Jack: Okay.

Jennifer: I mean, I wasn’t gonna say anything, but you should really just be prepared for what is about–

Xander: I know salem weddings are notorious for drama, but I didn’t have bigamy and a drag queen wedding crash on my bingo card, did you?

Gwen: Did you really have to humiliate him so publicly?

Chad: Okay, my intention was to tell craig the truth. He was about to make the mistake of his life.

Justin: Well, I think it’s clear that leo and craig are out of the wedding. So what do you two want to do?

Gwen: I mean, I suppose there’s no reason why we can’t still get married.

Abigail: Actually, there is.

Chloe: Celebrate what?

Brady: Don’t be modest. Slapping leo with that prenup. That was brilliant.

Chloe: I thought so too.

Brady: So how did he take it? Has he left town already?

Chloe: Nope.

Brady: What happened? I know that money-grubbing little creep didn’t sign the thing.

Chloe: That’s exactly what that money-grubbing little creep did.

Leo: How can I be upset? I would do anything for you, craig. Don’t you know that by now?

Craig: Yes, of course I do. I just felt like I put you on the spot insisting you sign that prenup.

Leo: You didn’t insist. You asked, very politely. And I hope you know that the reason I hesitated wasn’t about the money. I felt ambushed. Yet another attempt by your daughter and the haters to put me on a spit. If I hadn’t signed it, you could’ve ruined our wedding day, maybe even our whole marriage, because chloe and everyone else would’ve continued to think that I’m a gold digger. So I caved. I don’t like caving. I’m a very proud man.

Craig: And a selfless one. Just when I think I could’ve love you more. Thanks, babe. I promise you won’t regret it.

Jack: You drove all the way to o’hare to pick me up. You don’t have to carry my luggage.

Xander: You said you’d be my best man, jack. I owe you.

Jennifer: Xander! Gram’s garden looks absolutely stunning, and jack tells me it’s because of you.

Xander: Oh, I said I’d look after it.

Jennifer: I am just so glad to be home. Although I know that we missed so much while we were away.

Xander: Including some very sad news.

Jack: But we’re here to celebrate the good news.

Jennifer: Yes, and the fact that abigail’s home safe.

Jack: And gwen’s matron of honor. Let’s hope that this means that the two of them are finally patching things up.

Gwen: Abigail? What are you doing here?

Abigail: I heard ava vitali had been arrested, and I wanted to talk to her.

Gwen: Why? What could you and ava possibly have to talk about?

Ava: The person who attacked you was your sister, gwen.

Abigail: A lot.

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

Abigail: I was hoping that ava might finally give me the name of the person who knocked me out at the air strip and helped get me kidnapped. Told her she might be able to use the information to leverage a plea deal.

Gwen: I see. And did she tell you what you wanted to know?

Abigail: Sadly, no. So what are you doing here at the police station on your wedding day?

Jack: So where are my two daughters?

Xander: Actually, they’re taking care of some wedding business, but they should be back here soon.

Jennifer: Wait, you do know you are not supposed to see your bride on wedding day.

Jack: Right?

Xander: Yeah. Sarah insisted on that, and we all know what happened to sarah, don’t we?

Jennifer: I talked to aunt maggie. It’s really terrible.

Xander: I just feel like if I’d been there that night with her, I could’ve protected her. And, well, anyway, I’m not very fond of that superstition.

Jack: It’s understandable.

Xander: And anyway, gwen and I woke up this morning and decided today was the day. We feel like we’ve already had enough bad luck and that finding each other is the beginning of a better life.

Jack: I really hope you do.

Xander: So shall I fill you all in on the details?

Jennifer: Yes! Please!

Jack: Yes! Of course, please! That would be helpful, yes.

Xander: Well, we’re having the ceremony tonight, in the square. And you’re getting two weddings for the price of one.

Jack: Two?

Jennifer: What? That’s exactly what we did. Who’s the other bride and groom?

Xander: Gwen is the only bride. A friend of hers is marrying his boyfriend. There’s going to be three grooms.

Craig: Pretty quiet on the way over here. It’s not like you.

Leo: Just thinking.

Craig: About the prenup.

Leo: You were right. Signing it was the only way to get chloe and sonny and everyone else to believe what you and I already know. I’m not marrying you for your money. I’m marrying you because you’re the love of my life.

Brady: Okay, this states if leo and craig break up, leo gets nothing. You sure leo read this?

Chloe: He did. Every word.

Brady: And he signed it?

Chloe: You know why? Because my father convinced him to.

Brady: Okay, well, at least you have the satisfaction of knowing leo can’t screw your dad over. I mean, justin writes up a good prenup. This thing has no loopholes in it.

Chloe: Yeah, well, brady, is it possible that we were wrong? Is it possible that leo stark wasn’t after my father for his money? What if he’s actually marrying him for love?

Craig: Hey. You and I are getting married in a few hours. I think maybe we should try and get ready.

Leo: True. My toilette does take a while.

Craig: Yes, but there’s only one bathroom. We could shower together, maybe save some time.

Leo: I don’t think that would be much of a time save. Besides, there is something I want to talk to you about before the wedding.

Craig: Okay? You look serious. What is it?

Leo: I have a confession to make. It’s my 4:05, the-show-must-go-on,

Gwen: I came here because I was looking for you.

Abigail: Oh, well, when I came in, you seemed surprised to see me. And what’s with the hat? It’s april.

Gwen: Oh, right, yeah. Just trying to avoid frizzy hair on my wedding day, you know? I came here because I couldn’t find you, and so I phoned “the spectator” office, and they said you were here, covering a story.

Abigail: I see.

Gwen: And the reason I looked surprised is because I didn’t know that ava had been arrested.

Abigail: She has, yeah. She’s been charged with planting the evidence against rafe.

Gwen: And these charges– they don’t have anything to do with what happened to you?

Abigail: No, no, and like I said, you know, she just– she won’t give me the name of the person who helped her do it.

Gwen: I bet it was that pilot. I think perhaps she’s afraid of him.

Abigail: Maybe. Yeah.

Gwen: Right, well, if you’re finished here, shall we go? Because xander’s gone to pick up jack, dad, at the airport. And, well, I know he would love to see you. I think he’d be rather pleased to know that you’re standing up with me. Are you ready?

Abigail: Yes. My phone is vibrating. Hang on. Let’s see. Oh, it’s the office. They’re wanting an update. Do you know what? Can I just–I’ll just catch you at the house, and I’m not gonna be long, I promise.

Gwen: Yeah, of course.

Abigail: Okay. Bye.

Abigail: Hi, yeah, I’m just down here at the squad room. I just got done interviewing ava vitali.

[Uneasy music]

Ava: So, did you convince the da to give me a deal? Because that is the only way I’m giving you the dirt on your sister.

Craig: Okay, whatever it is, whatever you did, just tell me, all right? Tell me. You’re scaring me. What is it?

Leo: It’s about the guy that gwen is gonna marry.

Craig: What about him?

Leo: His name is xander cook, and I sort of kind of–

Leo: Tried to get him to go to bed with me.

Jac: Craig wesley is getting married?

Jennifer: He left nancy…

Both: For a man?

Xander: Yeah. A guy named leo stark.

Jennifer: What? The same leo stark that caused so many problems for will and sonny?

Xander: Yeah, that’s the guy.

Jack: And now craig is getting married to him?

Xander: Yeah, I guess craig had been in the closet his whole life, and now he’s making up for lost time.

Jennifer: No, that’s just poor judgment.

Xander: I wouldn’t know. I’ve never even laid eyes on craig.

Jack: And now you’re going to have a double wedding with the man?

Xander: Because leo and gwen–it turns out, they’re old friends.

Jack: Really?

Jennifer: I mean, I was never crazy about craig, the way he stole my brother’s job, but I mean, nancy worshiped him. She must be devastated by all this.

Nancy: I don’t know why I let you talk me into this, mommy. Look, it is one thing to like a guy’s picture, but it’s another thing to meet him face to face. Okay, I’ll try to believe that. Brady: Look, chloe, I don’t mean to sound cynical, especially for your sake or your dad’s, but the idea that leo is actually in love with craig– I don’t buy it. I don’t think a guy like leo changes his spots.

Chloe: Well, I’m cynical about leo as well, but if he is the gold digger that we think he is, then why did he sign that prenup? Unless he, what, plans on staying married to my father long enough to spend all of his money?

Jennifer: Are the two of you going to be wearing kilts tonight?

Xander: Oh, I decided to spare jack that. No, I got tuxes for us.

Jack: Oh, my bony kneecaps thank you.

Xander: Actually, speaking of, we should get going. We need to try the monkey suits on.

Gwen: My goodness, you’re here! Hi. You’re here. I’m so happy you’re gonna be here for the wedding. Oh.

Gwen: Oh. You know, actually, I was wondering. Would you maybe walk down the aisle and give me away?

Xander: And when it’s all over, you’ll be my father-in-law. Like the sound of that.

Jack: So do I.

Gwen: Everything is so perfect.

Abigail: Guess who showed up when I was out in the squad room. Gwen.

Ava: How’d that go?

Abigail: Well, I didn’t give you up, if that’s what you’re asking. I told her you wouldn’t tell me who helped you kidnap me.

Ava: Well, that was a good move, because she was probably on her way in here to talk me into keeping my mouth shut.

Abigail: Well, she didn’t expect to see me, I know that.

Ava: So what kept you from telling gwen that I ratted her out?

Abigail: I’m not tipping her off until you give me the whole story.

Ava: That depends on what the da said.

Abigail: She’s interested. But she needs more information.

Ava: Okay. Tell her to come talk to me.

Abigail: I have a better idea. You tell me the story, and I go back to her.

Ava: I already told you gwen knocked you out. What more do you need?

Abigail: You made it very clear that gwen has done worse than that, a lot worse. I want the details.

Ava: Are you certain that the da’s willing to make a deal?

Abigail: Absolutely.

Ava: Great. Then you get me that deal, and then I will give you whatever you need to bury your sister.

Jack: It’s good to see the two of you looking so happy.

Gwen: Yeah, we are, aren’t we?

Xander: Definitely. But we should go get those tuxes fitted. I don’t want to be late for my own wedding.

Jack: Right, right, right.

Gwen: So, you know the next time that I see you–

Xander: I’ll be making an honest woman of you.

Gwen: Yeah, we’ll see about that.

Jennifer: Have fun!

Gwen: Hey. I’m very happy that you’re gonna be at the wedding tonight.

Jennifer: Yes, I am too. I’m very happy that we have some time alone. There’s something I wanna say to you.

Clyde: Me doing time, being an ex-con, is that a deal breaker for you? Because if it is, I certainly understand. I see.

Nancy: No, no. You just took me aback, clyde. It’s not a deal breaker.

Nancy: You know, for more than 30 years, I thought that I was married to the perfect man. But he cheated on me. I knew that there was something wrong between us, but, well, I kept asking him, and he kept lying to me. I just met you, and you have been honest and open with me. And I respect that.

Brady: So do you remember yesterday, when we overheard leo talking to someone on the phone named jackie?

Chloe: Yeah.

Brady: Well, sonny seems to think that might be jackie cox. Now, this is a crony of leo’S. Sonny’s pretty sure that the two of them were in cahoots during that peacock scam last year. So if leo is actually trying to scam your father, this jackie cox might know about it, even be in on it.

Chloe: How do we find this jackie?

Brady: Sonny and chad are actually on their way to new york right now to try to track her down.

Chloe: Well, my dad’s wedding is in a couple hours, and this seems like a long shot.

Brady: Chloe, it may be the only shot we have.

Leo: I don’t want there to be any secrets between us. So I thought I’d better tell you you’d be sharing your wedding with a man I lusted after. You mad?

Craig: No. I appreciate you being honest with me.

Leo: Oh, craig. Nobody has ever cared for me the way you do.

Craig: It’s because you make me happy. I love you.

Leo: Maybe we do have time for a shower.

[Knocking at door]

Craig: Oh, boy.

Leo: Oh, well, if it isn’t the groom-to-be.

Xander: Hi, leo. Can we come in?

Craig: Jack deveraux.

Jack: Hello, craig.

Leo: You two know each other?

Craig: Mm-hmm. Yes, we do. What are you doing here?

Xander: Well, jack’s gwen’s dad. He’s also my best man.

Craig: Oh. Well, I didn’t know that.

Jack: I thought as much. That’s why I suggested to xander that the four of us should have a friendly drink together before the wedding.

Xander: It’s a single malt, almost as old as I am. Jack’s treat.

Craig: So you’re xander cook. Leo and i were just talking about you.

Gwen: Look, before you say anything, I know I’m not your favorite person, and for good reason. When I came to salem, I was terribly unhappy, and I took that all out on you and your family, and especially abigail.

Jennifer: Yes, you did.

Gwen: So I wanted to say is that abigail has managed to forgive me. It means the absolute world to me. Because with her forgiveness and xander’s love, I’ve stopped becoming that person who did all those horrible things. So, really, what I’m trying to say for myself here is, I was very angry and spiteful because I just thought that nobody was ever gonna love me. But now I have jack, and I have xander. And for the first time, I feel like I have a family of my own. Sorry, so what is it that you wanted to say?

Jennifer: You know, you’ve lived in this house. You see pictures of family everywhere. So you probably figured that family means everything to me, gwen. And everything to my husband. So what I wanted to say is, jack is really proud of the person that you’ve become, and so am I.

Gwen: Oh.

Jennifer: [Laughs]

Gwen: I know, I can’t believe it. I mean, I’m actually getting married here in a little while. I need to get dressed. I need to get ready.

Abigail: I just learned some very interesting intel about our bride-to-be.

Chloe: So, what did you say to chad and sonny?

Brady: Told them that leo signed the prenup and that now it’s basically all up to them.

Chloe: Well, did they have any luck finding this jackie person?

Brady: Hopefully, we’ll find out soon.

Chloe: Well, not soon enough to stop this wedding. Ugh. Ugh.

Brady: What?

Chloe: It means I have to go get ready for it. Feel like I’m going to a funeral. I should just get dressed in all black since I am ghoul girl.

Brady: Hey, you do realize that you’re not going to be doing this alone.

Brady: Yeah. Like I told you back in the good old days, I want the whole world to know that you are my girl.

Craig: Well, she’s in a great deal of pain, and I feel terrible about that, but I just couldn’t lie to her anymore. Let alone myself. Anyway, she’s an amazing lady, and I pray that she finds the right man who she can spend this next chapter of her life with.

Clyde: Hard enough to have your husband tell you he’s leaving you, but for another man?

Nancy: The same man that he is marrying today. He wants us to be civilized, and he invited me to the wedding.

Clyde: Guy’s got some nerve.

Nancy: I might go. That’s kind of one of the reasons I got on the dating site. I just didn’t like the thought of showing up there alone.

Clyde: Nancy, are you asking me to escort you to that wedding?

Clyde: No. To be honest, the day I walked out of prison, the only clothes I had were the clothes that I walked in with, but I’m sure I could scare something up.

Nancy: It is crazy, right? I’m asking you to be my plus-one at the wedding of my ex-husband and his boyfriend. Why don’t think you should go with me? Because you were in prison?

Chloe: Are you sure you’re ready for rachel to find out about us?

Brady: I haven’t told her yet, but do you how she feels about you?

Chloe: Well, she might not like me if I’m your girlfriend.

Brady: Chloe, I have talked to her about kristen and me. She knows that we will always love her, but she knows that mommy and daddy will never be a couple again.

Brady: Yeah, it’s sad, but… she also doesn’t want her daddy to be lonely. She did tell me that. And when we’re together, she sees how happy that makes me. So I think that she would think that that was a good thing.

Chloe: Are you sure?

Craig: I’d like to propose a toast. To leo, the man who makes my heart sing and who I’ll soon be lucky enough to call my husband.

Jennifer: Gwen is the one that knocked you unconscious? She is the reason that you were kidnapped?

Abigail: Yes. Yes, but she doesn’t know that I know that. So we– we got to keep our voices down.

Jennifer: How can I keep my voice down? I just told her how proud I was of her. Do you know how devastated your father is going to be by all of this?

Abigail: I’m sure he is.

Jennifer: Why did she do this to you?

Abigail: I think I know. I don’t want to talk about it until I know for sure that I’m right.

Jennifer: Why haven’t you confronted her about this?

Abigail: Ava told me there’s so much more to know about gwen. I want it all. And ava’s forcing me to broker a plea deal for her with the da. Otherwise, she won’t talk.

Jennifer: Does she have any idea that you are on to all of this?

Abigail: She tracked me down at the police station today. I think it’s because she doesn’t want me talking to ava.

Jennifer: What did you do?

Abigail: I told her that she wouldn’t tell me who her accomplice was.

Jennifer: And she believed you?

Abigail: Yeah. And that’s the way that I want it. I can’t have her going down there and telling ava not to talk.

Jennifer: So this whole miraculous change in her character has just been an act this whole time?

Abigail: I think so. And it scares me, you know, because she’s already done so much to our family. What if she’s planning something else?

Jennifer: Abigail, you can’t let her do anything else to you. Please.

Abigail: Trust me, I’m gonna protect myself. But I can’t do that unless I know the whole truth.

Gwen: The whole truth about what?

[Dramatic music]

Clyde: Nancy, life’s too short to fool around. If I wasn’t interested in you, I wouldn’t waste your time or mine.

Clyde: I like you too, nancy. Which is another reason for me to stay away from that wedding.

Nancy: I’m sorry. I don’t know what you mean.

Clyde: On our first date, I don’t want to deal with a bunch of other people. I want you all to myself.

Craig: I hate to question your taste, but xander is not all that.

Leo: Excuse me?

Craig: I’ll be standing near him at the wedding tonight, but I only have eyes for you.

[Knock at door] Oh, my god, what now?

Xander: Oh, hey, sorry, I just jumped in the shower, and I stupidly didn’t check before, but I don’t have any of those little shampoo bottles. You have any extra?

Craig: Uh, the maid, I think left a few this morning–

Leo: I’ll get them.

Craig: So, married.

Xander: You nervous?

Craig: I’m–yeah, no.

Chloe: So we are going to this wedding together.

Bonnie: Look at you, all gorgeous. Did you come by for a refresh?

Nancy: No, no, it’s not that kind of an emergency. I need some advice and I didn’t have anyplace else to go.

Bonnie: Oh, honey, you came to the right place. Tell me all about it.

Nancy: Yesterday, craig and i signed the divorce papers. Now there’s nothing stopping that little gold-digging fiancée of his from getting everything he wants.

Leo: “In the matter of”… oh, my god. It can’t be. It is. It’s A… prenup. On our wedding day? What the hell?

Craig: Hey.

[Tense music]

Ava: It’s ava vitali.

Abigail: What do you want?

Ava: Well, I have some information that I think you will find very interesting.

Abigail: What kind of information?

Ava: Well, why don’t you come down to the police station and find out? You’ll be glad that you did.

Nicole: Can I get a double espresso, please?

Eric: Coming right up.

Nicole: Uh… I thought I was having vivid dreams before, but this one takes the cake.

Abigail: What are you doing here?

Ava: What do you think? I don’t hang around the police station for fun. Well, at least not anymore.

Abigail: So you’ve been arrested.

Ava: Yes, by the police commissioner who I used to sleep with. He accused me of setting him up.

Abigail: Well, I never believed that rafe actually planted evidence in the first place, but what does any of this have to do with me?

Ava: It’s just a big misunderstanding. And I think that you can help me resolve it.

Abigail: You want your story in “the spectator”? Are you hoping for a little public sympathy?

Ava: No, I don’t want you to interview me, abigail. I want you to talk to trask on my behalf.

Abigail: Why would I do that?

Ava: Because I can help you in return.

Gwen: Gabi.

Gabi: Hey, gwen. What brings you here?

Gwen: I was actually thinking of booking this place. It’d be a wonderful venue for a little celebration.

Gabi: Oh, and what are you celebrating, pray tell?

Gwen: Xander and I are getting married today. Actually, we’re not the only ones; it’s gonna be a double wedding, and a fab one at that.

Craig: I’m glad I tracked you down, ’cause we’ve got a lot to do before we walk down that aisle in a few hours.

Leo: Including me signing this? With no warning at all? No explanation?

Craig: What are you talking about?

Leo: I thought you loved me.

Craig: I do.

Leo: Trusted me.

Craig: I do.

Leo: Then how could you ambush me with a prenup on our wedding day?

Craig: Prenup?

Leo: All that poison people poured into your ear about me– you believe them, don’t you?

Craig: Leo… I swear, I’ve never seen this before.

Leo: What? Well, then where did it come from?

Chloe: From me.

[Tense music]

Nicole: [Chuckles] Um… welcome back.

[Chuckles awkwardly] Okay. When did you get back to salem?

Eric: This morning. Yeah, my dad–he had some paperwork to get done and I volunteered to watch the bar.

Nicole: So why did you come back?

[Tense music]

Eric, did you leave the priesthood? As a struggling actor,

Eric: No, I’m still a priest.

Nicole: Oh. Then why aren’t you wearing your collar?

Eric: I only have to wear it when I’m saying mass or performing a sacrament. And the reason why I’m home– because the last time I was here it was a bit intense.

Nicole: Yeah, your mom’s exorcism.

Eric: Yeah. And I had some free time, so I, uh… I got on a plane, you know? I just wanted to be with the people that I love. I miss my family and I miss my friends and… I missed you.

[Lively jazzy music]

Chloe: A double wedding, huh?

Gwen: Yeah. I mean, it hasn’t really been a fantasy of mine, truth be told, but the thing is is my really old, dear friend lives in salem now. And he’s also in a rush to be married with his fiancé. So he suggested we take the plunge together. And he’s offered to pick up the tab.

Gabi: Oh, what a great friend. Anybody I know?

Gwen: His name’s matty cooper. You might know him as leo stark.

Gabi: Leo stark? Are you serious? He tried to ruin will and sonny’s lives– my daughter’s daddies. You know what? I hate that weasel with a vengeance.

Gwen: Okay, well, I know he’s not perfect. I mean, who is? He’s my friend and I’m terribly fond of him.

Gabi: You may be the only person on earth who is.

Gwen: I’ve also heard that his fiancé is quite mad about him too.

Gabi: Oh, okay. God help that guy. Must be a man, although i wouldn’t put it past leo to marry some rich old woman and take her for everything she’s worth.

Gwen: Okay, why don’t we just agree to disagree on matty. Yeah? Because he’s getting married, as I said, he’s a very good friend of mine, and I’m gonna marry xander and I want everything to just be perfect. And I do think this will be a very nice venue for a little intimate dinner after the ceremony.

Gwen: Hey, isn’t locking down the venue the maid of honor’s job?

Abigail: Matron, actually. And it’s abigail.

Gabi: Did you say abigail? Abigail who you drugged and sent to the loony bin? She’s your matron of honor?

Gwen: We’re moving past all that.

Gabi: Even the sleeping with her husband part? Okay, you know what? Never mind. None of my business.

Gwen: No, it isn’T.

Gabi: Besides, I really– I’m so happy right now. I am so really, really, impressed with myself. Ooh, more than usual.

Gwen: Why? What have you done?

Gabi: Well because–[Drumming on table] Drumroll please– I got ava vitali arrested.

[Laughs]

Abigail: How could you possibly help me?

Ave: Well, if I recall correctly, both you and your husband are pretty eager to find out who bashed you over the head that night at the air field?

Abigail: Hmm. You mean the night of your harmless prank wearing the sarah mask? The night you saw nothing and know nothing about?

Ava: Yeah, well, maybe i wasn’t being completely up-front.

Abigail: Hmm. So unlike you.

Ava: Last time I was here, chad came and he paid me a visit and offered me a quid pro quo. I give him a name and he will go to bat for me with the da, get me a deal.

Abigail: Which you refused.

Ava: I did, yes.

Abigail: But now you’re wanting to talk, which means you are guilty as hell.

Ava: Oh. I’ve been wrongly accused, abigail. And I need a little assistance. Look, the way I see it is if I tell you attacked you that night and you take that to trask and get me a deal, we both get justice.

Nancy: You know, signing those divorce papers was very hard for me, bonnie, obviously. But… craig was sweet and he made every effort to help me get through it.

Bonnie: Yeah? How did he do that?

Nancy: Well, he bought me a drink and then he told me how much our life together meant to him and, um… how much he treasured the moments, the fun times that we had together. And, um… well, then he asked me to come to his wedding and said that it would mean a lot to him.

Bonnie: I’m sorry, I don’t think I heard you right. Did you just say he–

Nancy: He invited me to his wedding.

Bonnie: To leo stark?

Nancy: Well, who else is he marrying?

Bonnie: [Scoffs]

Nancy: Oh, come on, bonnie. Get your jaw up off the floor.

Bonnie: Well, why wouldn’t it be on the floor? For the man who left you after 30 years of marriage and making two children together– not to mention treasuring all those “fun times” you had together– for him to think it would be fun for you to attend his wedding to someone else?

Nancy: I know. I know, bonnie. It would be hard for me to see him marrying that horrible leo stark, but… I told him I’d think about it.

Bonnie: Exactly how much did you have to drink before you told him that?

Nancy: Hardly anything. I was very sober.

[Sighs] But I have to admit, bonnie, I was… I was kind of touched. I…[Sighs] I care about craig and I always will and… that’s why I need your advice.

Bonnie: Really? Do you really need to know what my advice is?

Nancy: I guess I already know what it is.

Bonnie: Okay, then. In case you had the slightest doubt, I have exactly three words of advice: Just say no.

[Tense music]

Craig: Chloe, why did you do this?

Chloe: Well, I knew that you would be busy with your wedding arrangements, and so I had justin take care of that for you. But since you are marrying my father for love, it’s not gonna be a problem signing that, right, leo? I mean, you can just read it. It’s pretty straightforward. Oh, and you’re going to need… this.

Nicole: Good. Good. I’m good.

Eric: Oh, really? That’s great.

Nicole: Yeah. Yeah. Watched it about a million times.

[Both laugh] I really hope that you get a chance to see her.

Eric: Yeah, I’d love that.

Nicole: [Chuckles]

Eric: So I hear ej got cleared of, uh… sami’s kidnapping.

Nicole: Yeah.

Eric: And, um, you two still…a thing?

Nicole: No. No. We’re not. I realized that we are not right for each other.

Eric: I’m happy to hear that. And you know what? I meant what I said at new year’S. I just… I just want you to be happy with whomever it is that you’re with. But ej was just not the man that I–

Nicole: I’m seeing rafe.

Eric: Rafe’s a good man.

Nicole: [Exhales]

Eric: Yeah. You two have been friends for a really long time.

Nicole: Yeah. We have, but it’S…now turned into something more.

Eric: How did that happen? I mean– I mean… if you don’t mind me asking.

Gwen: Ava’s been arrested?

Gabi: And I made it happen. That bitch is gonna pay for framing my brother, not to mention moving in with jake just to spite me.

Gwen: Huh. How’d you pull that off?

Gabi: Well, I found the dirtbag that she paid to frame my brother, and he coughed up a recording admitting everything.

Gwen: Wow. Well done.

Gabi: Best part was I got a front row seat to rafe arresting her. I mean, talk about karma, right? That skank is probably cooling off her heels right this second at the station. And next– next stop is jail and then court and then statesville, where she’s gonna hopefully rot forever. No way out. I mean, can you imagine how desperate ava must feel right now?

[Inhales deeply]

[Exhales]

Ava: So? What did trask say?

Abigail: Not a chance.

Ava: Why the hell not?

Abigail: You framed the police commissioner, ava. It’s a felony. The person who hit me would only be charged assault, and it’s not nearly enough to interest trask.

Ava: It wasn’t just assault. They kidnapped you. They took you to a desert island and held you captive.

Abigail: I reminded her of all that, but she still thinks that you’re a bigger fish than whoever knocked me out.

Ava: So what if I told you that this person has committed other crimes since then?

Abigail: What other crimes?

Ava: So sarah’s not off with rex?

Gwen: No. She’s fending off bugs on some tropical deserted island that kristen sent her to.

Ava: [Laughs] Kristen does not mess around, does she?

Gwen: Exactly.

Ava: So that’s why you helped break her out of jail– because at any moment she could tell xander where to find his not-so-runaway bride. You switched out the antidote? How is that even possible?

Gwen: [Sighs] Because I still had some left from when I used it on abigail.

Ava: So you had that just tucked away on the odd chance that down the road, you might wanna drive somebody else out of their mind?

Gwen: And you can thank god that I did, because you and i both know that if rolf’s antidote could bring back sarah, xander would go back to her in a heartbeat.

Ava: Trust me. What this person has done– it’ll give trask a much bigger fish than me.

Abigail: Unless you’re just jerking me around.

Ava: Why would I do that, abigail? I wanna get out of here.

Abigail: Great. You want this so bad, this fish is so big, then who is it, hmm? Who is it and what have they done? Don’t waste my time. Okay, if you’re not gonna spill it right here, right now, then I’m leaving.

Ava: Wait. I’ll tell you.

Bonnie: You cannot go to that wedding, nancy.

Nancy: Bonnie, I know it won’t be easy for me. But–

Bonnie: But? But? How can that word even be in that sentence? I know you had a drink with craig and I know it was all sweet and comforting and that he went on about how great things had been between you. But seriously, girl, the man broke your heart.

Nancy: Oh, yes, I know. But… bonnie, it really wasn’t his fault.

Bonnie: Ugh, nancy, that’s “irrevelant.” No, is it–irrelevant. Relevant?

Nancy: Neither. It’s neither, bonnie.

[Sighs] Look… craig didn’t leave me because I wasn’t enough. And he didn’t go for a younger woman because he wanted to stoke his ego. I mean, he was a man trying to deal with his own sexual orientation.

Bonnie: Let me guess, you’ve been reading up on the topic of failed marriages.

Nancy: Well, I’ve been reading a lot of books, but– in general, but not just about failed marriages. They’re failed marriages that deal with, well, when one member of a marriage is gay. I mean, from everything that I’ve read, I feel like I have so much more empathy for what craig has been going through. A lot more than I had in the beginning.

Bonnie: Honey.

Nancy: Look, bonnie, I can tell by the look on your face that you feel that I’m, like, wimpy and totally pathetic. I mean, I’m sure that you had a lot more respect for me when I wanted to just kill the guy.

Bonnie: No, no. Stop. Stop. Honey, I didn’t have more respect for you back then. Honestly, I’m just trying to protect you from running right into the eye of that storm. Attending your ex-hus– and not ex for a very long time–wedding to someone you think is scum.

Nancy: I know craig doesn’t think that way about leo. So I have to try to respect that–

Bonnie: Have to? In my opinion, you don’t have to do anything but what you’re doing right now, which is trying to get through this and move on with your life.

[Sighs] But looking in your eyes, I can tell that no matter how many times I tell you to tell him no or tell you not to go to the wedding–just falling on deaf ears. And I get it.

Nancy: You really do?

Bonnie: Mm-hmm. Honey, you loved that man for most of your life and you wanna be there for him. All I’m saying is just, I don’t know, think about it for a couple of days.

Nancy: I can’T. Craig texted me and said that the wedding has been moved up to tonight.

Bonnie: Tonight? Well, why didn’t you tell me that?

Nancy: I just did. And bonnie…I wanna go.

Bonnie: Then I respect your decision.

Nancy: I, um, just hope that everybody doesn’t just stare at me and go, “oh, there’s the woman whose husband left her for a man,” while I’m sitting there all alone.

Bonnie: So don’t go alone.

Nancy: I have no choice. The wedding is tonight.

Bonnie: Sure you do. You just get yourself a hot date to take you.

Nancy: Bonnie, I just told you the wedding is tonight. Where am I gonna find a date on such short notice?

Bonnie: Easy, killer. We’ll find you a date right here.

Leo: I have never been so insulted in my entire life. Craig and I aren’t even married yet and you’re talking divorce?

Chloe: That’s the whole point of a prenup, leo, to figure it out ahead of time. And what better way to prove that you’re marrying my father for love and not money?

Leo: What better way than by signing a stupid document? With love and devotion, that is a better way. With something that is private and sacred. And also special and exciting and happens at least twice a day and sometimes more.

Craig: Leo.

Chloe: Okay, so you won’t sign it, will you? Surprise. Dad, what else do you need to prove that this guy’s a gold digger?

Craig: Chloe, stop it. Right now.

Leo: See? He is as appalled as I am. So you can take the stupid prenup and you know what you can do with it?

Craig: Hold it. Just… I think you should sign it.

[Tense music]

With depression, you just feel…blah.

Gwen: Why would you say that ava’s desperate? Did she say something?

Gabi: What do you mean? Like what?

Gwen: You’re not gonna rat me out, are you?

Ava: You know, despite committing my fair share of crimes, I’ve managed to stay out of prison for most of my life. I’m not getting locked up for this.

Gwen: What are you saying?

Ava: Well, what I’m saying is if I do get arrested, the only way out may be to give them a name. So I’m gonna ask you one simple question. Why shouldn’t I sacrifice you to save myself?

Gabi: Gwen? Something wrong?

Ava: Make the offer to trask. You hook her, and then I’ll give you the name and the crimes.

Abigail: You know, I don’t really think you’re in a position to be calling the shots here, ava.

Ava: I’m just asking you to work with me here. It’s not like you walk away empty-handed.

Abigail: But you won’t tell me who this mystery person is.

Ava: If I give away everything I know up front, then you can take all of that to trask and cut me out. And then I got nothing to bargain with, and there’s no reason for her to give me immunity.

Abigail: Well, then I guess we’re at a standoff.

Nicole: [Sighs] How rafe and I got together is a really long story.

Clyde: Well, look who’s back. And all the way from africa, huh? Your daddy told me you were living there now.

Eric: Clyde weston. Are you working here?

Clyde: I sure am. Your old man gave me a job. He didn’t tell you that?

Eric: No, he did not.

Nicole: Uh… weren’t you in prison?

Clyde: I got paroled.

Nicole: I’m sorry, why would roman hire you after you kidnapped his great-grandson?

Clyde: Because he knows I did my time, paid for my crimes, and that I’m determined to be a better man from this point on.

Nicole: [Scoffs]

Clyde: You believe in redemption, don’t you, padre?

Leo: Craig, I am beyond offended that you need me to sign some legal document to prove that I love you.

Craig: I don’t need you to sign it, but obviously my daughter does.

Leo: Because she doesn’t trust me, which is very hurtful.

Craig: I know. Leo, I am so sick of all of the people that I know and care about constantly coming after me with suspicions and warnings about you, but if– if your signing this puts a stop to all that, then… I think you should do it. Please? For me.

Ava: I make it a practice never to give away something for nothing.

Abigail: Right. Well, thank you. Now have fun in jail. Don’t pass go. Don’t collect $200 or anything. Boy, this was really a waste of time coming down here, except maybe– maybe I got a story for “the spectator.” “Ex-mafia princess finally brought down by ex-lover’s kid sister.” Meh.

Ava: It was gwen.

Abigail: What?

Ava: The person who attacked you, it was your sister… gwen.

Gabi: Gwen? Hey, you look–are you okay?

Gwen: Um, I just realized, I have a million things to do, so I’m just–I’m gonna run.

Gabi: Weren’t you gonna book this place for afterwards?

Gwen: You’re right. That is a job for my matron of honor, so I’ll just have abigail do it, so bye.

Gabi: Mm-hmm.

Nancy: How’s this: “Recently divorced, fun-loving woman. Donates her time to charitable causes.” What’s wrong with that?

Bonnie: They’re all too bland. It’s a jungle out there. You gotta spice it up. How about this: “Back on the market. Hot to trot and ready for action.”

Nancy: Ready for action?

Bonnie: You asked for my help–let me help you. I know about this stuff. Trust me.

Nancy: Oh. Is this how you met justin? On a dating app?

Bonnie: God, no. But I’ve helped plenty of my friends do this, so here we go. Now, the important thing is to get a really good picture, so– okay, stand up. Let’s go. Let’s go. Over here. Get a nice background. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. All right, yeah. Give me a smile. Oh, nancy, that looks like cramps. Try again. Nah, give me some teeth this time. Okay, honey, you gotta loosen up, all right? Have some fun. Think of something fun like a roll in the hay with a hot date.

Nancy: The only guy I can think of is craig.

Bonnie: Whatever floats your boat. Just give me a smile here. Ah, perfect.

[Camera shutter clicking] Hold that. Hold it. Hold it. Hold it. Uh-huh.

Nancy: Can I stop smiling now?

Bonnie: Yep. Now all we gotta do is pick the perfect picture, upload it, and we are off to the races. Then when you walk into that wedding with that gorgeous man on your arm, craig wesley, gay or not gay, will rue the day that he let you go.

Chloe: What are you waiting for, leo?

Leo: Give me a second, ms. Bossypants. I’d like to know what I’m signing.

Chloe: I told you, it’s pretty standard.

Leo: “All premarital and postmarital property is separate including any residence in which the spouses cohabit. In the event of a divorce, the residence goes to dr. Wesley. All bank accounts, including joint accounts, revert to single accounts for dr. Wesley.” Blah, blah, blah. “No alimony or cash settlement in the event of a divorce.”

Chloe: Yeah, none of that should matter if you’re marrying my father for love, right? Dad, I’m sorry I’m doing this to you on your wedding day, but you have to know before you get married.

[Tense music]

Leo: There, satisfied? My asthma felt anything but normal.

Chloe: You signed it.

Leo: This amazing hunk of man is the love of my life. So there’s no reason not to sign some silly piece of paper. We are going to be husband and husband from now until eternity, prenup be damned.

Craig: Oh, yeah. Guess I should make it official then.

Leo: [Exhales] I know you have had your issues with me and my past. But I hope that this will finally convince you that my love for your father is real, profound, and fills me with joy. Maybe you’ll even give us your blessing, because it’s the only way he’s gonna be happy, and that’s all I want is your father’s happiness.

Chloe: Okay, I guess we want the same thing then. Leo stepped up, so I will too. If he makes you happy, then I’m happy, and that’s all that matters. You have my blessing. I will take this to justin to file, and I guess I will see you two at the wedding later.

Craig: [Breathes deeply] Thank you, sweetheart. It means more to me than you know.

Chloe: I love you.

Craig: Okay. All right. Are you upset with me? Hmm?

Bonnie: It’s simple. If you like a guy, you swipe right. If you don’t like him, swipe left. Guys do the same.

[Gasps] Ooh. How about that one?

Nancy: Too young.

Bonnie: Kay.

Nancy: Oh, too old.

Bonnie: Okay.

[Gasps] Doctor.

Nancy: No doctors.

Bonnie: Okay.

Nancy: Oh, he has a nice smile.

Bonnie: Oh, well, he has no hair.

Nancy: So what?

Bonnie: Well, you can’t show up at the wedding with just anybody. You gotta turn heads, sweetheart. Ooh. Ooh, ooh, ooh. I found one. “Recently back on the market” just like you. “Family-oriented” just like you.

[Gasps] “Loves to cook.” Do you love to cook?

Nancy: I like to eat.

Bonnie: [Laughs] Sounds like a match to me. Oh, and he is cuh-yute! Look.

Nancy: He is good-looking.

Bonnie: What do you think?

Nancy: Okay, I’m gonna do it.

Bonnie: Do it. Do it. Do it. Aah! [Laughs]

Abigail: So I was right. It was gwen who knocked me out that day.

Ava: Oh, and there is so much more.

Abigail: Tell me. What else did she do? Did it have something to do with my kidnapping? Was it something else? Are there other victims?

Ava: I will tell you everything that you wanna know in excruciating detail. But trask needs to hear it first and only after I get my immunity. Abigail. This is your chance. You want your sister to pay for her sins? Get me the deal and I will sing like a canary.

Abigail: I’ll be back.

Eric: I do believe in redemption.

Clyde: Yeah, so does your old man, which is why he hired me. I’m paying it back by trying to do a good job and earn an honest living.

Nicole: Do you even know what that means?

Clyde: That’s a good question. I mean, I get why some people won’t give me another chance, given some of the things I’ve done.

Nicole: Like trying to blow up an entire town?

Clyde: But there ain’t no use in looking at the past, is there? I mean, I’m all about looking forward, doing everything I can to be a better man. But hey, I didn’t mean to interrupt you two. I’ll just get on with my break. Enjoy yourselves. Good to see you again.

Nicole: [Scoffs] A better man? After everything he’s done and all the people he’s hurt, does he really expect anyone to believe that he’s changed or is capable of it? I mean– oh. You must think I’m a hypocrite. After all the things I’ve done and the people I’ve hurt.

Eric: No. But like clyde said, you know, it’s about… it’s about working harder. Moving forward. So you, uh… you were gonna tell me about you and rafe.

Nicole: [Sighs] Yeah. Plus, I can tell you everything. You know the worst about me.

Eric: And I still care about you, nicole. You know that, right?

Nicole: And I’m grateful. I am, eric.

Eric: Talk to me.

Nicole: Okay. Well, rafe and I have been friends for a long time, like you said. And he was there for me when you and I split. And then in october… we slept together.

[Inhales sharply] Only he was living with someone else, and that someone was ava vitali. And she found out and she tried to ruin rafe’s life. She framed him for a crime he didn’t commit, and then just yesterday, gabi found proof that ava actually set him up, and she’s been arrested.

Eric: So if ava’s no longer a threat to rafe or to you… meaning that there’s nothing to stop you from living happily ever after. Right? It’s my 5:52 woke-up-like-this migraine medicine.

Nicole: Happily ever after? Yeah, I guess so.

Eric: [Chuckles] You guess so?

Nicole: I mean, I’m just a little skeptical of that particular phrase for obvious reasons.

Eric: Yeah. Me too. Meaning–why don’t I just skip the “ever after” part and just ask… you’re happy, aren’t you?

Nicole: Yes. I’m happy.

Eric: I’m glad. Like I said, that’s all I want for you.

Nicole: I should get to work.

[Chuckles] So thank you for the coffee.

Eric: You’re welcome. It’s on the house.

Nicole: Thanks. It was good to see you.

Eric: It was good to see you too.

Nancy: Ooh! I don’t even know why i let you talk me into this. He’s probably already swiped left.

Bonnie: Where is that confidence we’ve been working on?

Nancy: I-it got up and went home ’cause it wants to curl up with a good book. Oh, you know what? He probably didn’t even swipe left. You know what he did? He’s probably just ignored it, which is even more insulting–

Bonnie: You have to work on this attitude. Remember, you are strong, you are proud, and you are beautiful. And any man, including this one, would be proud to have you on his arm. You know what? Swipe another guy. In fact, swipe a dozen.

Nancy: I didn’t see anyone else that I was interested in.

[Phone beeps]

Bonnie: [Gasps] He swiped right. Honey, you got one on your first try! [Laughs] Oh, and he is cuh-yute!

[Laughs]

Gabi: Well, I’m done. And so is ava. Nothing can save her now.

Ava: Sorry, gwen. I don’t really have any friends, and I do hate to lose you. But… it was you or me, so… what choice did I really have?

Abigail: Gwen?
