Do you know how badly I needed to hear you say that? I thought that it was more important for me to stay close to esme so I could find something that would prove your innocence. Ah, okay. Well, that explains why you played esme, but not why you played me. I wasn’t playing you. You kept me in the dark! Because you’re honest. And when you’re going up against a liar like esme… you don’t think I could have pulled it off? I was not going to risk esme finding out.

[ Scoffs ] Deceiving you was the best thing for you, trina. You sound just like curtis. He also does what he thinks is best for me, but it’s just like — I have a lot to apologize for, trina, but protecting you — I’m not going to apologize for that. Spencer… I don’t fault your motives. Your intentions are golden. But I would have felt more protected with you at my side. And maybe — maybe you’re right. [ Sighs ] Is it bad news? There are 10 genes that are, um, tied directly to schizophrenia. 10 genes with ultra-rare disabling variants that promote the, um — the development of the disease. And how many do I have? None. None?

[ Laughing ] As in…? As in zero. A-as in curtis is in the clear. Talk to elizabeth. She can help sort out your feelings about reiko. Just talk to her. Yeah… that might not be real productive at this stage. Why not? You remember all that messiness I mentioned? Who do you think you’re talking to? I’m the queen of messy. Maybe she’s just biding her time, waiting for the opportune moment to do maximum damage. I don’t think that’s the case. I don’t think you’re giving esme enough credit. The longer she’s out there, the more time she has to come up with the way she can hurt us the most. And one way or another, she will do that. Unless we hurt her first. Demetrius? Thank you for telling me. But that still leaves an unanswered question. Is trina taggart’s daughter? Or curtis’? Did you and officer cabrera have fun in new york? We’re not talking about me and rory — well, we might as well. Cabrera’s a good guy. Better than most. Spencer — I’m glad for you. You deserve a good guy. We’re done. No, we’re not! Time’s up. Yeah, I’m a little sore. A little? Okay. I-I hurt everywhere. Especially my wrists. It could have been a lot worse if you hadn’t shown up. Never really got the chance to thank you for rescuing me, did I? Well, it looks like the divorce papers are all ready to go. There’s a receipt inside the envelope that proves I submitted them to the court. I want you to keep that. I don’t need a receipt. I take you at your word that they’ll be filed. Now we just need a court to sign off… and, um, we’ll officially be divorced. I’d feel better if you held onto the receipt. It’s something you can show portia since I botched things the first time around. Right. Jordan, this is what doesn’t make sense to me. You’re one of the most organized people I’ve ever known, so it just doesn’t add up that you would misplace the original papers. What can I say? Nobody’s perfect. I think I proved that during our marriage, right? Jordan, it takes two people to make a marriage and two people to mess it up. Now, let’s be honest — I think we both know that our marriage was over long before we signed those papers. Maybe for you. But not for me. Physically, you are recovering just fine. But as your doctor, it’s my job to treat the whole patient. And, ava, I want you to take care of yourself. To be honest, I-I’m — I’m a little bit worried about your well-being. Trina told me that you closed your gallery, and I know that that was far more than just a business to you. Well, actually, that — that’s your fiancé’s fault, really.

[ Chuckles ]

[ Chuckles ] How is that exactly? Uh, curtis came to see me, and he told me that he was worried about trina working in the gallery with some serial slasher roaming around. And — and he was right. As much as I hated that I won’t be working with trina for now, I… I have to do whatever I can to protect her from any future repeat attack, right? Yeah, and I think you did the right thing. I think you did the right thing for trina and for you. But I need you to know that working at your gallery was far more than just a job to trina. And I never got to thank you for arranging the fellowship at the chuck for her. Well, that — that was curtis’ idea, actually. I just made a couple of phone calls and gave trina a sterling recommendation, which she earned. Yeah, I just feel badly that — that trina seems to resent curtis for setting that in motion. I am no longer living at wyndemere. I’m happy that nina has offered me a place to stay, stay with her. I’m grateful for that. And plus there’s the added benefit of knowing that sonny’s looking out for nina, so… which means that he’ll be looking out for you. Yeah, well, you know, as avery’s mother, sonny does want to keep me safe. Well, good. You know, I’m glad that you have someplace — someplace to go, but, um… but what? Ava, you know I have no love for nikolas or his son spencer. But I do know that you’re still in love with your husband, even after everything that’s happened. According to the coroner, he was likely attacked by the same woman with a hook. They weren’t able to identify him, but I recognized him right away. Because he’d been a patient here not that long ago. Well, who is it?! That bartender guy who testified at trina’s trial.

[ Elevator bell dings ] Oz haggerty? Wai– ava. Ava? Don’t you think we should talk about this? No. I-I have to go. You just don’t get it. It’s not about what ava has on me or what I have on her.

[ Scoffs ] Well, tell that to the young lady ava pushed over the parapet. Ava swears that it was an accident. Well, fine. Say that I, uh — say I believe here. Do you really think the police would? Or a jury? Ava had just discovered you had slept with your son’s girlfriend. She was out for revenge on esme. And to frame you for the crime… would be an act of love. Ava didn’t twist my arm. Well, before diane made her id, sonny took matters into his own hands and almost played judge, jury, and executioner. Look. If you don’t believe me, go talk to dex. I already told you. And, you know, I gotta say, t-the way boss keeps his cool with michael attacking him, it’s impressive. It sounds like you admire sonny. He looks after the people he cares about. This? This is sonny looking after the people he cares about? I didn’t say I like it. I just said I get it.

[ Sighs ] Don’t you see? That’s exactly what he’s doing. He wants you to be able to give him the benefit of the doubt. Dex, he’s never gonna do that for you, okay? You need to quit his organization right now before you get in any deeper. Who says I want out? The john doe at the morgue has been identified by a previous stay at G.H. I have absolutely zero interest in what you and nikolas talk about. What are you doing here? Oh, I-I just wanted to tell you that there’s been another fatal attack. This time, the victim was that bartender, the — the one who esme tried to keep from testifying for trina. Thank you for the update. But, uh —

[ Chuckles ] You could have just called with the news. I was just gonna come and get some of my clothes. But never mind. If you would, could you please ask the staff to pack up my things and have them sent to nina’s? Perhaps I should come with you just as added protection. Suit yourself. Nikolas: Ava. Thank you. [ Beeping ] Who the hell are you?! I know it’s been a very difficult day for everyone who loved brando and who loves sasha. Michael, make sure that willow gets home safe and gets some rest. I’m — I-I want to have a conversation with my son. I-I don’t know how, but trina is the common denominator. I mean, first there was ava, a-and she isn’t just trina’s boss. She’s her mentor and supported her the whole time during the trial. And then there was diane miller, who came in when scott baldwin had to step away. And she was brilliant in defending trina the best way she possibly could. And now oz haggerty? It was his testimony saying that he sold the black-market phone to esme prince and not trina that proved trina’s innocence. Yes, at first glance, your theory makes sense that there’s a pattern, but what about brando corbin? Is there a connection to trina that I’m not aware about? He’s the only exception. Trina barely knew brando. Unless… unless what? Unless brando wasn’t the attacker’s real target. Josslyn jacks had just been in that same alley outside charlie’S. Josslyn is connected to trina. Josslyn: Well, just so you know, next time sonny turns against you, do not wait for me to come rescue you. There might not be a next time. Yes. There will be. Sonny will betray you, just like he’s betrayed everybody else. And I just really hope you can see the man he really is before it’s too late for you.

But for you and me, I ordered a gourmet dinner for two to be delivered from the metro court. Alright. I’ll s– I’ll see you when I get home. Alright, handsome.

[ Knock on door ] What’s on your mind, dex? Just wanted to follow up on that deal you mentioned. Some third party that wants to use your facilities. What about it? I don’t understand. How could I have led you to look for esme on spoon island? Well, you’re the last person to see esme before she attacked you on the pier. And if you hadn’t been able to call the police first, who knows what esme would have done? But she didn’T. I mean, we should just be thankful I only ended up with a bump on my head and leave it at that. Yeah, I know, but who knows… who knows that it would have ended there? Y-yeah. I do– I don’t know. I… you see, I think esme’s hiding on spoon island. And now that I’ve been there… I’m even more convinced I’m on the right track. You remember how we first met? It was ages ago. Decades. But I can still see it… as if it was yesterday. I was hiking the cascade mountains. A regular nature girl on a journey to find a place for myself outside the rigid confines of middle class society. That’S… when I smelled smoke coming from a cabin in the middle of nowhere. And there you were… chopping wood with a hatchet. The blade gleamed in the moonlight. You always were… handy with a blade.

[ Sighs ] Such a shame to lose this hand. It was… so talented… …in so many ways. I said… “my name is hazel.” You said you were richard. We were both playing the same game. We’d found each other. The family man is too busy obstructing justice or doing whatever it is he does to spend time with his youngest child. So he leaves her with the girlfriend. Lucky donna. She’s still too young to understand where she ranks on sonny’s list of priorities. Sonny is on his way home right now, and I know that he would love to see his daughter and kiss her before you take her back to carly. So… you wait a little while. I could take it… if you can. I didn’t go to josslyn for help. Okay, I never meant for her to be involved. But she was involved. What happened? I c– I can’T. I can’T. Okay, you know what? You can lie to me later. What? Let me see. No, I-I-I don’t lie to you. Okay. You can “refuse to answer me” later. Let me see your side. It’s just a crease. “It’s just a crease”?! No internal bleeding. No bullet to remove. Oh, so you were shot. God. I shouldn’t even be here. Well, you are, and you’re bleeding from a gun wound, so give me one good reason why I shouldn’t call the cops! ‘Cause I’m asking you not to. I don’t know if josslyn saved my life, but she definitely saved my freedom. And people know I work for you, boss. If she had called an ambulance or — or called the cops, you would have been investigated at the very least. Dex, what’s your point? Just say it. Josslyn did me a favor, and I am grateful. But that’s as far as it goes. Good. Because I spent today cleaning up the mess you left behind when you were driving that transfer van to pentonville. I was concerned that somebody could have identified you as the driver of the van, so I made sure that nobody is going to identify you. I appreciate that, boss. And I promise you, I will learn from my mistakes. I believe that you mean that when you say it… …but like my old man used to say… …some mistakes are too big to make.

Sonny: You’re probably standing there thinking, “you know, I’ve done such a solid job. Why is sonny so hard on me?” Something like that. It’s because when I was about your age, I-I-I was in debt… …to a guy named joe scully, and I would have done anything to pay him back. Anything? Yeah, anything. Joe wanted me to do a job. I was young, inexperienced. I did the job. I left a trail that could have led straight back to me. Even worse, could have led straight from me to joe. Obviously, you’re still in the game. So what happened? What saved you? I had a guardian angel. He took it upon himself to clean up after me. That’s lucky. Yeah, well, luck is only gonna get you so far in life. In this business… …you have to have brains. You have to trust your instincts. I have both. Okay, think of this as a crossroads in your life. Y-you’re the one who’s gonna have to make that call. You got to figure out… what you’re gonna hold on to, what you’re gonna let go, what matters, what doesn’t matter. Oh, I can wait until donna is done eating, because we both know that pilar cooked that meal, you didn’T. But let’s be clear — the second that she’s done, we’re leaving, whether sonny’s back or not. Josslyn, why don’t we just go to our separate corners until the referee rings the bell for round two? Round two? What, like a fight? Why would I want to fight you, nina? I’m so grateful. Well, your idea of gratitude leaves a lot to be desired. No, really. You did what no one else ever could. You took sonny away from my mom, and you set her free. Now donna, I do feel a little bit sorry for, but in the end, I know she’s better off. I mean, she doesn’t have to grow up listening to her mom defend the indefensible like I did. See, I watched my mom turn herself inside out for sonny. But she doesn’t have to do that anymore. She can live her life the way she wants to, and she has never had a better time. So, really, nina, thank you. Out of all of sonny’s many girlfriends, you just may be my favorite. You make it sound like I’m the latest in a long line. You said it, not me. Spencer: What can I say? When your grandmother is the mayor and your great uncle is victor cassadine, you can pretty much get yourself out of anything. Rory: What, you’re saying that the mayor pulled strings to get you an early release? When you have family connections, the one golden rule is never advertise who did what. Though I will say that my uncle cyrus did look out for me while I was inside. Cyrus? As in cyrus renault? Happily that unfortunate family tie came to an end the second spencer walked out of the pentonville gates. Well, we will let you get back to your dinner. It was good seeing you. Spencer, spencer, that was — that was very graciously done, but you’re making one mistake. What’s that? You’re a cassadine. Cassadines never quite. So, what’d you find on spoon island? It’s more what I didn’t find when I went to wyndemere. You went to the house? Yeah, I sort of thought, you know, nik might cooperate, help me look for esme. But he kind of played the big shot and supposedly had some of the staff search the property. Even if they did look, they weren’t gonna find esme. Then you walked away empty-handed. Of course, nik said he was just looking out for your best interest, but I wasn’t buying it. Why not? Well, you know, his lips were moving. Remember how we used to bundle together in the cabin… on those cold winter nights… when the wolves howled outside the window? We’d howl right back at them because that’s what we were — a couple of timber wolves too wild for all those poor, pathetic sheep out there. You’re in there, aren’t you? You might have everybody else fooled… …but I know you… …inside and out. You’re not really paralyzed, are you? This is just your way of controlling the situation, getting everyone lulled into a false sense of security, and that’s when you’re gonna strike. I know that I’m getting to you, because after all… …I’m your hazel… …and I can affect you… in ways… that nobody else can. You left me… without so much as a goodbye. You broke my heart. I don’t think you’ve ever been hurt as badly. But that can be arranged.

You know, I get the sense that nik’s only willing to cooperate when he’s in charge. Sounds like him. Hm. Maybe. What do you mean? I mean… I have a feeling nikolas is hiding something.

[ Gasps ] It speaks! I knew my mountain man was in there… just waiting to break free. And you just might live to regret that. Or not. Ooh. Naughty boy. I know you wouldn’t hurt me. Since when did you ever mind a little pain?

My point is, josslyn, that even for a split second, your mother and i were able to put our differences aside and help willow. And if we were able to do that, why can’t you and i do the same thing? My mom makes her own choices, and so do I. Even though I am grateful you took sonny off her hands, it does not mean that I like you. It did not take sonny off anyone’s hands. I fell in love with him. How romantic. Okay, the only part of that that I regret is keeping the truth from everyone. And you might not understand this… …but I kept the truth from myself. I don’t even remember a jeff webber. All I know is that my dad and reiko were having an affair. My dad had a history of cheating on my mom. My wife and I were happy. I know. Sonny, can we just — can we stop, please? This is a huge misunderstanding. Nina confronted both me and willow separately about this, and we both made it extremely clear that we are not having an affair. But she does not want to believe that. Now she’s dragged you into it. And I don’t — you don’t what? Say it. Say it, tj. Sonny, you’ve always been there for me. Right. And I respect you. Right. But nina’s hell-bent on causing trouble for michael and willow, and she does not care how much trouble that’s going to cause for you, too. The security guard is on his way to gh. Oh, good. Once they got him conscious, I asked him a few questions, but his memory was still pretty foggy. Did he know how the crash happened? Transport was supposed to stop at pentonville first, d’archam second. Driver drove right past the exit for pentonville. So the driver was the plant. That’s what the guard thought. Tried to stop the driver. That’s when the van spun out of control. So this whole thing was organized to spring one of the prisoners. And I can only imagine that anna is the one who was able to sort something like that out. Well, she certainly has enough contacts to call on for support to stay on the run. Ah, anna’s going to give us a real run for our money. What? Still nothing. We got to wait here for a minute. We can’t risk running into the police and getting pulled over. That’s a good strategy. Thank you. Not even an ounce of modesty anywhere. I’m good at this stuff. I — lucky me. You think dex is going to be all right? I think dex is going to be fine. Even if the guard realizes he was a plant, he won’t be able to id him. Besides, sonny will take care of dex. Thank you for taking care of me. Always. I like taking care of you. [ Groans ] This is from our boathouse. Ah, you should have killed me when you had the chance, esme. You made a mistake. I did my own research in addition to what all the doctors here told me. If I were to start chemotherapy in the first trimester, that would put our baby at great risk. If I could wait to start chemo until the second trimester, that would give our baby the best chance of survival. And you– you’ve been living with this all by yourself for all these months. Willow, that must have been so hard on you. No. I wasn’t totally alone. The doctors here have been supportive, and tj has been a great friend. But the decision to delay chemotherapy has come with a cost. What do you mean? Dr. Randolph just told me that… the test results confirmed my leukemia is now stage iv. Stage iv. Oh, my god, willow. Okay. Okay, what’s next? I start chemo right away. But because of the advanced stage, terry also wants to look into a bone marrow transplant. You know what’s really good for a stiff neck? If you’re about to offer me a massage, no, thanks. I was going to say muscle relaxers. And I happen to know a great doctor here. This is to say thanks. For what? Standing by me through all my “maury” drama. It’s just a latte. It’s not poison. Don’t do that. Stop trying to avoid what’s really going on here. I am so sorry that I waited so long to tell you. But I swear to you, michael, even if you hadn’t walked in when you did, I was going to tell you today. I believe you. I just — do you want to know why I didn’t tell you before? Look, willow, we’re, uh — we’re a team. And we built a life together. With wiley. And if…I said or did anything that made you think that I wouldn’t support you or I wouldn’t be able to handle what you’re going through — no, no, no, no. No, it’s not that. When I heard the diagnosis and what chemo would mean for our unborn child, and the doctors here, all of them — britt, terry, tj — they all wanted me to start chemo immediately. I really struggled with it. Deep in my heart, I knew I-I… I couldn’t face losing another baby. Not after jonah. And I-I knew that wasn’t fair to wiley, that the worst case would be that the leukemia progressed and I didn’t recover, but I convinced myself that it wouldn’t do much harm to delay treatment by a few weeks.

[ Sighs ] I felt like it was the best choice for me, for our entire family. Okay. I just want to make one thing very clear. This was always your choice. And I support that today, and I — and I would have supported that then. I just wanted us to enjoy our time together with wiley before things got too hard. Spare us all some heartache. I think you’re hiding behind sugary coffee so you don’t have to deal with your feelings about mac not being your father. Well, you can’t blame me for wondering what it would be like to be a part of a close-knit family. For a few seconds there, I thought maybe I wouldn’t be alone in this world. Yeah, I — I get that. Even though my mother drives me crazy, I don’t know what I would do without her. Well, taub may have been a son of a bitch, but he’s my dad, and that is that. But they didn’t make it that far. There was an accident, and the van crashed. And I’m here on the scene right now. What caused the accident? I don’t know, sonny. There was some sort of struggle. But there was only a guard here when we got here. He was the only one with the vehicle. He was injured and taken to gh. Any idea what happened? No. Not yet, but I’m going to figure it out. Do not let anybody off of the island. That hook-wielding psychopath was in the house. And I will be damned if I let her get away.

Cody bell. I’m here for some test results. No problem. Was it blood work? Paternity test. One sec. Thanks. Glad you’re back. Yeah. I hope you got what you needed while you were away. May I? Yeah. Finn, I, um… there was no medical conference. I went to monterey. I wanted to get answers about what’s been going on with me. And I saw my parents. I don’t understand. Why am I here? I’m supposed to be transferred to pentonville. I’m just following orders. A dr. Finn insisted that you come here for something called a phlebotomy treatment.

[ Sighs ] I can do this. I have to do this. Nikolas cannot keep us locked… up in here. Mother, I-I had no idea you were back. Well, aren’t you glad to see me? Yeah, yeah, no, no. Of course I am. [ Cellphone ringing ] Are you sending me to voicemail? Sonny… anna’s being transferred to pentonville tonight. We need to act now. What are you two hiding now? Your leukemia is now at stage iv. So, my… my cancer is advancing more rapidly than we thought. I’m so sorry.

[ Clears throat ] Well, I’M… I’m in my second trimester now. The risks to my baby are much lower. I am ready to start chemo at any time. What? What, did I wait too long? Will I die before my baby can be born?

I found you two bothering my family. We were taking a nice walk in the park, michael. Wiley and willow just happened to be there, so what’s the — you should have kept on walking. Oh, my goodness. Instead you tried to maneuver willow into letting nina spend time with wiley. Oh, that’s ridiculous. Sonny would never do that. You have no idea what sonny would do. Look, nina was denied visitation with wiley. I’m well aware of that. We’re not gonna go against your wishes when it comes to wiley, michael.

[ Cellphone beeps ] I gotta take care of this. Oh, is it an assassination or plain old racketeering? Why? You wearing a wire? You know what? You all right? Yeah, no, no. I’m fine. All right. You know, michael, I don’t expect you to be civil to me. But you should show your father more respect. Is my leukemia so advanced that I won’t live to have this child? That is not my prognosis. Remission is still within reach in stage iv. We just have to work more aggressively combining chemo with other treatments. How will this affect my baby? I will work out the course of treatment with the greatest chance of success while minimizing the risk to you both. Thank you. That’s what I hoped you’d say. We’re here for you. O admit, I didn’t expectsuch a fast turnaround. Thanks. I try. Look, the necklace you found in peter’s safe deposit box, it was pretty high profile back in the ’80s. There weren’t many necklaces around that were worth $35 million. I’m sorry. How much? $35 million. And, of course, mr. Only if the necklace is legally mine. Okay, well, that is where things get a little murky. I was not able to find an official bill of sale, but I was able to locate the last known owner. There’s some huge backlog in the lab. Ah. You know, I-I don’t suppose you could maybe track down those results for me? I’m going a little crazy here not knowing. I’ll go to the lab personally. Thank you. Can we have some privacy, please? I’d like to examine the patient. Mm. Well, doctor… you’re not actually gonna draw my blood, are you? No. Oh, thank god. A real nurse will be by here in a minute to take care of that. I talked finn into ordering a legitimate phlebotomy treatment. That way, the pcpd would be forced to bring you here before taking you to pentonville. That’s brilliant. What’s the plan to get me out of here then? Your dear uncle victor was using charlotte as leverage. She was practically being held prisoner in that boarding school. Kevin and I had to help valentin to break her out. Is charlotte all right? Yes, she’s fine. She’s thrilled to be home, and she is determined not to have anything to do with victor again. I know. Uncle victor has his own agenda. Yes, he does. And he doesn’t care who he uses or destroys to get it done. I mean, look at poor anna. She went up against victor, and now she’s been framed for the possible murder of lucy coe. It’s time to begin chemo as soon as possible. And bone marrow transplants have been very successful in treating leukemia. Survival rates have increased significantly in the past few years alone. But that also depends on what kind of transplant I get. It does. In your case, you’ll need an allogeneic transplant, which requires healthy blood cells from a donor. But will that work if the donor isn’t related to me? A related matched donor usually provides the closest match, but unrelated matched donors work, too. I hope that’s true because to the best of my knowledge, I have no living relatives. Michael, sonny loves you. Why can’t you see that? Sonny abandoned his family. How can I respect a man like that? It’s — it’s just like a broken record. Who are you to be so judgmental? He’s reached out to you time and again, and you just spit in his face. It’s like you live your life to look down on other people. Gee, no wonder willow turned to someone else. Wait. What? What’s wrong now? I found a description of a necklace that matches the one that you have in your possession in a profile piece on taub and his collection. And according to the article, taub allowed the necklace to be worn on the runway during paris fashion week in 1989. It just hasn’t been seen in public since. Well, I know taub and faison were working together around that time. Any chance taub could have sold it to my father? I couldn’t find any record of the necklace changing hands. And then taub died. Dominique auctioned off his collection, but the necklace wasn’t included in that. So dominique either took it, or faison bought it from taub before he died. Or, more likely, my father stole it.

[ Sighs ] Seen any good movies lately? Uh, me? No. No, no, not really. Oh. Just what, uh, you and i have watched at home. All right, I’m gonna get some coffee. Ok– all right. Want some? Uh, thanks. And it’s important to match my donors and my hla so my body won’t reject the healthy blood cells. Right. Your hla will be run against candidates in the match registry, a database with people willing to donate bone marrow. I’m gonna order the testing now. If I go in person, they’ll put a rush on it. Thank you. And, um… thanks for keeping my mind off my misery [Chuckles] By keeping my mind on the medicine. Neat trick, isn’t it?

[ Chuckles ] Tj. I’ll stay with willow. Hang tight. Whew. I thought… at worst, maybe things would progress to stage iii. But I guess I just… skipped over that. Stage iv. I mean, it doesn’t — it doesn’t sound so bad until…

[ Scoffs ] Look, I know willow. She would not do this to me. Oh, why not? She did it to chase. This is just about revenge. You’re just making up lies. None of us want this to be true, michael. That’s what you overheard your father saying. He didn’t want to tell you anything. Right, so you just let it slip, huh? Open your eyes, sonny. Just see — see nina for who she really is. She enjoys hurting people who are stupid enough to believe her. So I-I’m telling you this for what I-I hope is the last time — nina is poison. I would be very careful about what you’re about to say next. All right. You’ll be the only prisoner on the transport. One of sonny’s guys will have taken over as driver. He’ll drive the van to a rest stop on route 31. There’s a black pickup truck there. Look under the driver’s side floor mat for the ignition key. I’ve left some cash in the glove box. Thank you. Once I’m out, I’ll be able to find evidence to prove that victor has framed me. You’ll be on the run. Not only from the authorities, but from victor and his crew. You gonna be all right? Yeah. [ Door closes ] That must have been quite a shock, seeing them. Yeah. Yeah, I… when I went there, I had no intention of speaking with them. I just wanted to go into the house to find a clue as to why this is all happening. Then suddenly they were there. I just — I wanted to run out, but then I realized I can’t go on not knowing. So I told them what I had been remembering about the stairs and struggling with the woman and her falling and… did they know what you were talking about? They did. Yeah. When I was 15, I found my father with another woman. Another doctor. The woman you told to stay away from him? Yes. And this woman… this doctor, we argued. And it just — it happened really fast. And then she fell. I didn’t — I didn’t mean to. No, of course you didn’T. Do you know what happened to this woman? She died. It was my fault.

I’ve been patient with you,michael, up until now. I am done with you talking trash about nina. I don’t — you don’t want to listen? Don’t listen. But you know as well as I do that willow’s been on edge. Yeah, I know. We’ve both been on edge because of nina’s continued harassment. I’m not harassing.

[ Sighs ] I barely see you. And I’m not imagining this, michael. Something is going on with willow and tj. You just need to find out what it is. Just stay away from my family! But moskovitz said four of the gems come from one of the most famous diamonds in the world — the ice princess. What you’re describing feels a lot like an accident. I mean… you didn’t mean to push this woman, did you? No, no. No. No, you didn’T. And she didn’t die from her injuries, did she? Well, there were complications while she was at the hospital. She died as a result of an infection. But she wouldn’t have been there in the first place had I not confronted her. Okay. Hey, listen. You… you’re not to blame for this. For any of this. I’m so sorry you went through something so horrible and at such a young age. All right? Especially something that would traumatize you so deeply that you’d block it out. That’s the thing. My dad prescribed me sedatives, and my mother, being a psychologist, she coached me into locking away the memory. Why would they do that? I was having nightmares, and I was sleepwalking. Sound familiar? They claim they were afraid I was gonna hurt myself. So instead of helping me through it, they just made me forget. And they were worried that being around my dad would trigger me to remember, so they sent me away. And just stayed away for 25 years? I hesitate to even call them my parents because clearly they don’t know how to raise a child. Oh. Elizabeth, hey. I’m so sorry. I don’t even know — I don’t even know what to say. What they did — they abandoned me. They threw me away, and it was all for nothing because I remembered anyway. I have been terrified for my sanity. I thought that I was a danger to my kids. All because they wanted to keep this a secret. Did everything go okay? So far. As long as sonny keeps up his end. I’m sure he will. Well, then we can wish anna safe travels. Amen to that. Well, yeah, I offered to talk to the cops if I thought it might help me stay here a little longer. I would appreciate it if you’d talk to me first.

I saw your dad leave. Terry told me you had spoken with him. Yeah, for all the good it did. He still pushing to be part of your life? No, he’s not pushing anymore. He definitely wants to be a part of my life, but he claims this was his last effort. He’s waiting for me to contact him now. You believe him? I don’t know. Have your men search the grounds. We’re going in. We don’t have a search warrant. I’ll take the heat! Open up! Agent whitten, what are — hey, hey, hey! Wait, now, just a second here! [ Lock disengages, door opens ]

[ Door closes ] I understand you’ve taken an active interest in the media coverage of the hook attacks, including this letter. Do you think it’s genuine? Could esme have written it? “Yes” and “no.”

[ Scoffs ] Okay, look. As much as I enjoy seeing you sitting there, trapped in that chair like a beetle pinned to a board, I do have other things to do. Answer the commissioner’s question. Yes or no? “Both.” Jordan, let’s try another time. Maybe he’ll be more cooperative. “Wait.” He’s got a lot to say. Let’s step over here. I really appreciate your help with the questioning. I know this is hard. Yeah, well, just looking at him makes my skin crawl. But, of course, I’ll do whatever is necessary to help protect trina. Well, if the killer is esme, so far, she hasn’t made any moves directly on trina. The hook seems to be focused on tormenting trina by targeting the people around her. Once all those people are dealt with, trina will be left. Mr. Chamberlain is finished. “The killer wrote the letter, but esme is not the killer. Look at the wording: ‘Me and mine.’ Esme has no one. Feels completely alone.” Mr. Chamberlain had one last thing to say. “Why are you still wearing your wedding ring? It’s obvious you and nikolas are over. Come back to me.” I can’t talk about reiko with you. If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have lost your wife. I can’t blame you for what happened. How can you not? How can you look at me and not see the person who killed your wife? You didn’t kill reiko. Reiko contracted a disease that I couldn’t cure. I know the facts. The facts don’t change how I feel. She was always playing the — the lonely orphan for sympathy, right? Well, it’s certainly worth considering. So you don’t think esme prince is the killer?

Martin: Help! Help! We need help in here! For god’s sake, somebody help! Oh, thank heaven you’re still here. He just fell over. What happened? I have no idea. He just collapsed. [ Radio chatter in distance ]
