Allie and Chanel had a fight about Johnny. Chanel admitted that she was about to kiss Johnny at the hospital. She explained that Johnny was a wreck and their emotions were running high. She assured Allie that it didn’t mean anything because she loved her. She wanted her to forget about it. Allie wanted to know if she was attracted to her brother. Chanel wanted to know if she was attracted to Alex. They ended up arguing again. Wendy went to see Gabi. She brought flowers to her. She explained that Li begged her not to say anything to her about the brainwashing. She wanted her brother to be happy. She knew it wasn’t an excuse to do what she did. She was sorry for everything. Gabi accepted her apology. Wendy wondered if Stefan could be deprogrammed. Gabi told her how she tried to get Marlena to do it. She said that Stefan was disgusted that she would do that while Marlena was on her deathbed. He didn’t want to see her again. Wendy suggested that she get a court order to have Stefan deprogrammed or have an intervention for him. Gabi informed her that she would need Stefan’s consent for the court order. She said that if she did get it there would be no one to perform the deprogramming. Gabi was out of ideas. Wendy didn’t think Gabi would give up. She left the house. Gabi thought about what Wendy said. She decided not to give up after all.

Stefan planned to make EJ pay for what he did. He promised Stefano’s portrait that he would make him pay. Nicole overheard him talking about making someone pay. She wondered who he was talking about and he told her that he was talking about Kristen. She told him that Kristen was arrested and would pay for killing Kate and Kayla. Stefan told her about Marlena. She was shocked to find out that Marlena passed away. He showed her Marlena’s obituary. He wondered if she was thinking about Eric. She admitted that she was. She was worried about all of Marlena’s kids. Stefan talked to her about EJ’s involvement in his brainwashing. She acted like she didn’t know about it. He didn’t believe her. She walked out to go to work. Nicole walked out and ran into Eric. She offered her condolences to him. They hugged when Sloan showed up. She told him that he left his phone in her bed. Li talked to Rolf on the phone. Rolf told him that he will need for his lab. Li agreed to help him as long as he kept quiet about the brainwashing. EJ showed up to fire Li. Li threatened to expose him for knowing about the brainwashing. EJ told him that Stefan already knew about it. He told him that Stefan knows so he was fired. Li let him know that Wei wouldn’t be happy with his termination. EJ said that he couldn’t do anything about it since Li was involved with Stefan’s brainwashing and tried to kill him. Li warned him that Wei would try to get him to stay since there wasn’t any proof that he did anything. EJ wasn’t worried about it and wished him luck. Later, EJ let Stefan know that he fired LI. EJ left to start the paperwork. Stefan prepared drinks for them. He put something in one of the drinks. He knew EJ’s mind would be clouded after a few sips of the drink. He knew the board wouldn’t have a choice, but to remove EJ from his position. Gabi snuck in the mansion. She snuck up behind Stefan. She grabbed a statue and hit Stefan in the head. Stefan fell to the floor.

Johnny and Chanel stopped hugging each other. He thought about John and Marlena’s lives together. He thought they were meant to be. He hoped he would find a love like their love. She touched his face. They leaned in to kiss each other when Allie got off the elevator. Allie demanded to know what was going on between them. Allie thought Chanel avoided things like rooftops. Allie wasn’t impressed that Johnny helped get Kristen arrested. Chanel defended Johnny because of his grandmother. She didn’t understand why he was coming on to her girlfriend if he was so worried about his grandmother. Will got a phone call about going away for another assignment. He didn’t want to go, but Sonny thought Marlena would want him to go. Will said that he would be gone for six months. Sonny refused to hold him back from his dream. John watched the photo display of him and Marlena. Marlena put her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes. When she didn’t respond he cried and vowed to get help. Sarah noticed that Marlena’s bed was empty. Belle and Eric walked in the room. John rushed Marlena back in the room. Sarah checked her pulse and told them that Marlena was gone. Belle rushed out of the room and John went after her. Sarah offered her condolences.

Eric started crying when he sat by Marlena’s bed. He talked about how his faith let him down. He said he asked God to spare her, but He didn’t listen to him. He put his head on her chest and started crying. He said that he needed someone to talk to and she was gone. John and Belle went back to Marlena’s room so Eric gave them time alone with her. Belle said goodbye to her mother. She hugged John and let him be with her. Wendy and Tripp saw Johnny. She offered her condolences to him. Johnny didn’t want to hear it from Tripp because his mother killed his grandmother. Johnny taunted Tripp who threw a punch. Johnny blocked his punch and hit him instead. Johnny walked away from him. Belle saw Allie and hugged her. She left to call Sami. Allie told Chanel to leave the hospital while she went to look for Will. Belle met up with Eric and she wanted to go to the chapel to pray. Eric didn’t want to pray because God didn’t hear him. Will and Sonny agree that he shouldn’t go to New Zealand. Allie walked in and they comforted each other. Belle joined them. They wondered what happened to Eric. John went down memory lane while he was with Marlena. He was convinced that their story wasn’t over yet. He didn’t believe it was goodbye because he knew they would be together again.

Bonnie and Justin ran into Sarah. Sarah wanted Justin to help her divorce Xander. Justin was more than willing to help her divorce Xander after what he did to Bonnie. Bonnie thought Sarah should reconsider leaving Xander. She realized she was a hypocrite because she did terrible things to Adrienne. She said Justin forgave her for what she did to Adrienne. She thought that Sarah and Xander could be happy too if she forgives him too. Sarah was surprised by what Bonnie said. She said that she couldn’t get over the fact that he played a part in Susan’s death. Bonnie didn’t want to condone what he did, but she understood the position he was in when he did it. Justin thought she was being too generous, but he realized she had a point about Xander. He advised Sarah to think about it before she went through with the divorce. Gwen went to see Xander. She saw that he was getting drunk. He told her that Sarah wanted to divorce him. He realized he was probably going back to prison. Gwen told him about the plea she was offered. She let him know that she had no intention of helping the police. He wanted to know what she wanted in return. He said he was probably going back to prison so she had to collect while she could. She wanted him to get himself together and fight for his marriage and his freedom. She made him take a shower. They both got wet because they were dressed when he went to the bathroom. She changed into one of his shirts. He struggled to put his clothes on when Sarah arrived. Gwen let her in because he thought it was his delivery from the liquor store. Sarah wanted to know what was going on with them. He tried to explain, but he fell to the floor. Sarah told him that he disgusts her.

Will overheard Leo’s conversation with Sloan. He told Sloan that his friendship with Sonny wold be ruined if he found out what he did. Sloan agreed to represent him. She warned him that it will take a lot to get him off. He told her what he did for Xander. Will smiled as he listened to Leo talk to Sloan. Allie texted him about the rosary. Will quietly went upstairs. Sloan told him that testifying anonymously wouldn’t be easy. She told him that he wouldn’t go to prison. Leo wanted more than that. She thought he he had deep feelings for Sonny if he was willing to go to jail for him. Leo admitted that he had a crush on him. He wanted Sonny as a friend even if they don’t get together. Sonny arrived at the hospital and ran into Will. He hugged him. Will told him what he overheard Leo say. Sonny started to leave when Will gave him a message to give to Leo. Later, Sonny went to the Kiriakis mansion. He told Leo to pack his things and leave. He knew that he was involved in Bonnie’s kidnapping. He wondered how Leo could do that to him and his family after what he did for him. Leo pleaded with him for another chance. He promised to do better if Sonny would give him another chance. Sonny said that Will was right about him and that he was a con artist. Sonny thought they were friends. Leo said they were friends. Sonny let him know that they were nothing. Sonny called Will and they talked about Leo. Leo showed up with his bags. He wanted to know if he was going to turn him in to the police. Sonny didn’t know if he would or not. Leo told him that he really did care about him. He told him that he was sorry for everything.

Leo advises Gwen to turn on Xander. Gwen doesn’t want to turn on him. He advised her to look out for herself. Will walked in while Leo was on the phone. Will knew that he honor that belief. Leo got off the phone with Gwen so he could talk to Will. Will didn’t have time for him and wanted to go to the hospital. Leo went to see Gwen at the Horton house. They argued about her turning on Xander. Gwen refused to turn on him. Leo told her that Jack would turn his back on her if he finds out what she did. He told her to meet with a lawyer to find out her options. Will and Allie met at the hospital. They talked about Sami trying her best to make it home in time to see Marlena. They didn’t think her chances were good. Marlena’s visitors were restricted so they had to wait to see her. Allie wondered where Sonny was. Will didn’t know since he wasn’t home. He said Leo was there. He told her what happened with Leo and Sonny. He didn’t think Leo deserved Sonny’s forgiveness. Julie arrived at the hospital and cried over Marlena’s situation. She offered her condolences to Will and Allie. Julie thought she brought her rosary to the hospital, but she forgot them. Will offered to get them for her. Leo, Gwen and Sloan talked about Xander’s case. Leo was willing to say that he dressed as a clown on his own. He wasn’t going to mention Gwen being involved. He wanted to testify anonymously because he didn’t want Sonny to find out. He said Sonny was his friend and he believed in him when no one else would. Will hid and listened to them talking.

Chad told Sonny that Stephanie felt bad for turning off her phone. Sonny told Chad that Alex was the one who turned her phone off so he couldn’t interrupt them. Sonny defended Alex’s actions when Chad got upset. He told him that Alex didn’t know he was calling about Kayla. Chad didn’t care because it wasn’t Alex’s place to turn off her phone. Sonny said that Alex was a good person and wanted to make up for what happened. Chad said he couldn’t make up for what he did. He said Sonny should stop trying to see the best in everyone. He brought up his friendship with Leo. He told him that he will let him down. He didn’t think Stephanie would forgive Alex. Stephanie wanted to know if Alex was the one who turned off her phone. He admitted that he did it. He apologized to her and wanted to explain. Stephanie was upset by what he did. She told him that his actions kept her from saying goodbye to her mother. She would never be able to forgive him for that. He said he would do anything to go back and change what he did. She said that he couldn’t do it. She said her mother was gone just like her feelings for him. He would spend the rest of his life making it up to her. She said that he couldn’t do it. She wanted him to leave.

Stefan told Gabi that Johnny and Wendy found Rolf and told them about the brainwashing. Gabi couldn’t believe that Wendy betrayed her. She was happy that Stefan knew the truth. She thought the truth would change everything. He gently let her know that it didn’t change anything. He felt bad about the way he treated her. He knew she still loved him, but he didn’t love her. She blamed Rolf for that, but he let her know that his feelings for Kate were real. He knew he used to love her, but he didn’t feel anything for her now. She wondered if he really wanted to be with Chloe. She knew he was forced to love her. Wendy showed up at the house to speak for Li. She apologized for what happened. She hoped that she could forgive Li. Gabi told her that she hated Li for what he did to her and Stefan. She closed the door in Wendy’s face. Gabi went back to Stefan. He let her know that they weren’t getting back together. She thought Rolf could fix things for him. She wanted him to be able to have his free will. Kristen let EJ know that she needed a place to stay. He rejected her because he knew what she did. She knew he would have done the same thing to get the woman he loved back in his life. They went back and forth until she warned him that she would tell Stefan that he knew about the brainwashing. She told him that he would lose his power at DiMera Enterprises.

Rafe showed up at the DiMera mansion looking for answers from EJ and Kristen about the orchid. EJ was adamant that he didn’t know where it was. Kristen tried to be sympathetic towards Marlena. Rafe let her know that Rolf was going to be brought back to Salem. He was bringing forensics to check the room where she kept the orchid. He also wanted the security tapes. EJ was willing to do whatever it took to keep Johnny from losing his grandmother. Rafe warned Kristen that he planned on getting Rolf to turn on her as well as anyone else who was involved with him. He wished them luck before he left the mansion. The forensics team started looking through the mansion. EJ allowed Kristen to stay at the mansion. He warned her that they better find the orchid. Stefan and Gabi went to the station to ask Rafe about Rolf. He said that Rolf disappeared without a trace. Brady told Chloe why he broke up with her. She was shocked, but she wished she knew before she slept with Stefan. Brady was hurt by her admission, but he knew he was responsible for it. She said she couldn’t go back to him as if nothing happened. He understood and told her that he would wait for her. Nicole ran into Eric at the town square. She wanted to offer her condolences to him, but he wanted to walk away. She forced him to talk. He told her about Kristen and how he kidnapped Rachel. Nicole was upset to find out that Rachel was with Sloan. Eric thought she was being jealous. She defended herself and wondered what type of man he’s become. They ended up arguing and he blamed her for Jada aborting his child. Nicole got upset and walked off to pray for Marlena and for him.

Alex waited for Stephanie to come back to bed. He ignored Chad’s second call to Stephanie. Chad left a message for Stephanie to get to the hospital right away. Chad called again so Alex chose to ignore the call again. Stephanie joined Alex in bed. They kissed and then broke apart. Alex looked at Stephanie’s phone. She noticed and wanted to know what was wrong. He wanted to make sure she was ready to be with him. She was ready to be with him and they made out. Steve brought Kayla water. She was afraid they wouldn’t find the orchid in time. He wanted to keep faith that they would find it. He felt like the power of their love will get them through it. She wanted him to check on Roman and Kate. He didn’t want to leave, but he did what she wanted. John tended to Marlena. She wondered if Kristen was lying about the orchid being missing. John thought she might be telling the truth this time. She thought Orpheus might have taken the orchid. She wanted John to go to Statesville. She promised him that she would hold on until he got back. She said he gives her strength. Rex told Roman how much Kate loved him. He walked out of the room. Roman cried over Kate’s body. He wished they didn’t waste so much time apart. He apologized for not being able to protect her. He said he would love her forever. He started crying again. Rex went into the lobby and told Steve and Chad that Kate died. Steve hugged him and then he hugged Chad. Rex walked away to call his siblings. Steve told Chad he needed Stephanie there. Chad promised to find her.

Lucas saw Orpheus and told him that he tried to kill his mother, Marlena and Kayla. Orpheus taunted him until John showed up. John demanded the orchid from Orpheus. Orpheus tried to play dumb. John told Lucas that the women needed another dose of the orchid’s healing properties. Lucas went to check on his mother Orpheus was happy about the news. Lucas called Rex. Rex told him about what happened to their mother. Lucas went back to Orpheus and tried to choke him. John and the guard tried to pull Lucas off of him. John didn’t want to leave, but he had to get back to Marlena. Steve consoled Roman and went back to Kayla. She cried when she heard about Kate’s death. She wanted to see her kids. Roman walked in the room. Steve left to call Joey and Tripp. Kayla told Roman that she was sorry to hear about Kate. Roman was hopeful she would get better. He didn’t want to lose his wife and his sister. Chad left another message for Stephanie to get to the hospital. Alex and Stephanie finished making love when Chad came in the room. He started crying and put his head on her chest. Kayla flatlined as Stephanie walked in the room. Steve assured her that Kayla tried to hold on for her. Stephanie couldn’t believe she couldn’t say goodbye. Alex stood in the doorway. He told Chad that Stephanie was too late. Chad couldn’t believe her phone got turned off and didn’t get to say goodbye to her mother. Alex felt guilty about what he did.

Maggie told Justin and Bonnie that she found an apartment for Sarah and Xander. They let her know that Xander made up Red Nax to cover up that he was working for Ava. They told her that he kidnapped her and Susan. Bonnie said that Xander was kidnapped by the clown too. Sarah told them it was an act and she knew who was helping them. Leo walked in the room. Leo got nervous when he heard Sarah tell everyone what happened. She told them that Gwen was the one helping them. Bonnie knew for a fact the clown was a man. Justin thought she could have been in a body suit. Justin wondered what Leo thought. Leo said he didn’t know anything about Gwen dressing up as a clown. He walked out of the room. Will was at Allie’s apartment. He let someone know that he would be back in LA as soon as possible. Sonny showed up at the apartment. Will yelled at him about letting Leo in their lives. Sonny tried to defend Leo to Will. He wanted Will to understand the choices he made. He let Will know that if he wanted Leo gone, he would be gone. He would stay friends with Leo, but Will comes first. They kissed and made up. Will apologized for leaving him so much and leaving him to make new friends. He wished he made a better friend.

Gwen went to see Xander. She saw that he looked bad. He thought he was a disgusting human being. He felt like a worthless loser and Knew Sarah didn’t want him anymore. Gwen told him that he wasn’t in jail yet. She thought it was a good sign that Sarah didn’t turn him in yet. She told him to have faith in his love for Sarah. Xander knew Sarah wouldn’t give him the benefit of the doubt. He promised to keep her out of it if Jack found out. Xander was heartbroken so Gwen told him to think about Sarah until he won her back. Maggie tried to make Sarah feel better about Xander. Sarah couldn’t believe she fell for what Xander did. Sarah’s phone rang and she saw that it was Xander. She threw her phone. Maggie wondered what she will do. She told her that she was going to divorce him. Leo met up with Gwen and told her that Sarah was telling everybody what Xander did. Bonnie and Justin arrived at Xander’s hotel room. Bonnie punched Xander in the stomach.

Brady confirmed the kidnapping plans with Eric on the phone. Kristen arrived and told Brady that she didn’t think she was going to the wedding. She saw John and Marlena leave and she didn’t want to leave Rachel alone. He let her know that Eric was going to watch her. Kristen thought he was going to a lot of trouble to get her to go to the wedding. He made it seem like he wanted people to see them together and that he wanted a future with her. Everyone was getting ready for Gabi and Li’s wedding. Kristen and Brady arrived for the wedding. They ran into Nicole and EJ. Kristen and EJ talked for a little while. She wanted to take a picture with Brady so she could send it to Rachel. Nicole and Rafe saw each other when he walked in the room with Jada. Li walked to Rafe and Jada to let them know that Gabi was late for the ceremony. Kristen started drinking and told Brady about Chloe being in Miami with Stefan. He informed her that she couldn’t keep them apart forever. She would have to accept it soon. Kristen wanted to know what that meant. Brady dismissed her concerns. More guests arrived for the ceremony. Rafe went to look for Gabi. Johnny talked to Wendy. He noticed that she was stressed out about the ceremony. Li announced that they were ready to begin the ceremony.

The guests saw Gabi arrive for the wedding. The Justice of the Peace started the ceremony. The Justice of the Peace wanted to know if anyone objected to the wedding. Wendy announced that she had something to say. She told Gabi she was happy to be getting her as a sister. Li was angry and told her that she could have said that at the reception. They continued with the ceremony. Gabi hesitated when it was her turn to say her vows. Memories of Stefan came flooding back to her. She went through with the ceremony and they were married. After the ceremony, Rafe welcomed Li into his family. Li’s phone rang. He thought he turned it off. Rafe wondered if it was Dr. Rolf again. Gabi was concerned when she heard that he talked to Dr. Rolf. Dr. Rolf left Li a message warning him about the CRS 17 could wear off in weeks with certain triggers. He hoped that didn’t happen with Gabi. At the reception, Rafe gave Gabi a drink. He asked her if she was okay. She flashed back to Dr. Rolf’s lab. She announced that Dr. Rolf brainwashed Stefan to hate her. Li tried to get Gabi out of the room, but she refused to move. Gabi remembered Dr. Rolf telling her that Kristen made him do it to keep Brady from Chloe. Brady got upset and looked at Kristen. She said if she was involved, it wasn’t her idea to do it. Gabi remembered Dr. Rolf saying it as Li’s idea to brainwash Stefan. Gabi glared at Li.

Li woke up from a nightmare that he was exposed by Stefan. Kristen walked in the room and he jolted. She assured him that Stefan wouldn’t find out the truth from her. She told him that Johnny and Wendy didn’t find out anything either. Li corrected her, but he told her they weren’t going to say anything. She warned him that it will be worse for him if they didn’t keep quiet. Gabi was with Rafe. He thought Li was the right man for her. She couldn’t believe he was questioning that on her wedding day. She changed the subject and talked about his love life. She wondered how he felt about Jada. He reminded her that she was just a co-worker. He told her that he couldn’t date someone who wasn’t on the same level as him. Gabi didn’t think rules applied. She wanted him to invite Jada to go to the wedding with him. She was about to do it herself, but he took the phone from her. Li went to see Johnny to make sure that he kept quiet about the brainwashing. Johnny thought he was a terrible brother for what he was doing to Wendy. He told him that he was starting his marriage off with a lie. He advised Li to tell Gabi the truth or he would regret it.

Eric let Brady know that it was time to put their plan into action. They wanted to do it while Kristen was at the wedding. Eric thought Brady should take Kristen as his date so she wouldn’t leave early. Jada saw Eric and wondered if he was trying to avoid her. He assured him that he wasn’t avoiding her. He gave Brady a look. Jada went to a different table. Eric and Brady talked about getting Rachel from John and Marlena. Brady walked out so Eric went to Jada’s table. He assured her that he wasn’t avoiding her. He said he wasn’t staying there since he was arrested. She knew about his arrest and made a comment about Sloan. He wanted to be friends with her again. He apologized for not being honest with her about Nicole. She thanked him for that, but she needed time before they could be friends again. Brady pretended to bump into Kristen. He suggested they go to the wedding together. She wondered why he would ask her. He thought she would blackmail him into asking her so he wanted to do it on his own. She agreed to go with him. She wanted to take Rachel, but he told her that John and Marlena were already watching her. He thought Rachel would have more fun with them. Eric called John and Marlena to let them know that he would take over babysitting Rachel.

Eli surprised Abe and Paulina with a visit with him and the twins. They talked to him about what Sloan did. Eli wanted to go to Sloan and remind her who she was dealing with, but they stopped him from going. They appreciated what he was willing to do, but they wanted him to be a father to the twins and a husband to Lani. Sonny was shocked to see Will at the Kiriakis mansion. Will was shocked to see him with his shirt off and with Leo. He told Sonny that he rearranged his schedule so he could spend the holidays with him. Leo tried to get a word in, but Sonny and Will didn’t want to hear from him. Will wanted him to put on a shirt so he put on the shirt Leo gave him. Sonny wanted Leo to give them some time to talk. He told Will that Leo didn’t have a place to stay so he invited him to stay there for Christmas. Will didn’t feel sorry for Leo. He thought Leo was trying to play on Sonny’s sympathy. He thought Leo was trying to come between them again. Sonny thought Leo changed. Will reminded him about the things Leo did to them. Sonny explained how being friends with Leo just happened. Will wasn’t falling for it. Sonny didn’t like how he thought the worst in him as if he didn’t cheat on him before. He thought they were past him cheating. Will couldn’t believe that he brought that up. Sonny agreed they were over it. Sonny didn’t want to argue with Will on Christmas. Will didn’t want to fight with him either. He wanted Sonny to leave. Leo overheard them and thanked Sonny for his kindness. He was about to leave, but Sonny stopped him. He refused to let Leo leave. Will told him that he would leave.

Bonnie thought it was funny that the company Xander worked for was his name backwards. Justin didn’t think it was funny at all. He asked Gwen about it. She lied and said that the company existed. She said that Xander lied because he didn’t want to tell Sarah that he couldn’t find a job. After Justin and Bonnie left, Gwen called Xander to warn him about her conversation with them. Xander wanted to meet with her to talk about it. Sarah overheard his conversation. Justin and Bonnie continued to to talk about Xander. Bonnie thought Xander was having an affair with Gwen and that’s why he didn’t want to say anything about the company. Justin found that hard to believe because he loved Sarah. He thought Xander was keeping a bigger secret than that. Gwen met with Xander in the park. Gwen told him that Bonnie and Justin figured out the name of the company was his name backwards. He brought up how he first met Kristen when she was Kristen Blake. He said he has seen the old he fell in love with since she’s moved in. He said he wanted Marlena to see what he sees in Kristen. He wanted her to tell him what she did. Eric told Brady that he was quitting Basic Black since he and Nicole broke up. Brady thought it was because of Jada and the baby. Eric told him Nicole talked Jada into aborting the baby. Brady told him it wasn’t fair for him to blame Nicole. Eric said it didn’t matter. He said he and Nicole were too different. He told Brady about the argument he and Nicole had over him sleeping with Sloan. Brady insulted Sloan. Eric reminded him about living with Kristen. Brady said they weren’t getting back together. Eric said he was still attracted to her. Brady said he was attracted to vodka too, but he knew it was a disaster to be with Kristen. Eric said it was only a matter of time before he gave into her. Chloe and Stefan showed up while Brady and Eric were talking. Stefan ripped into Brady for the way he treated Chloe. Brady tried to defend himself, but ended up hitting Stefan. Stefan continued to argue with Brady until he and Chloe left. Eric told Brady that he knew that was hard for him. Eric wanted to know what was going on between him and Kristen. Brady admitted that she blackmailed him. Johnny was shocked to see Ava at the church. He thought no one could have survived the crash. She said she was hard to kill. He asked if his grandmother was still alive. She said she jumped from the car after it went through the guardrail, but Susan didn’t. He wondered why Ava was wearing a disguise. She said she wanted to pay her respects and didn’t want to be recognized. He didn’t believe it after what she did to his grandmother. She let him know that EJ was the one who started the war when he made her leave town. He said she started the war when she faked her marriage to Jake. She said he defended her to EJ. She said he didn’t do it until after he kidnapped Tripp. Johnny asked why she still drove his grandmother off the cliff even when she knew Tripp was safe. While at the service, EJ wondered what was keeping Johnny. Marlena said he was looking for a woman earlier. Mary didn’t want Susan’s service to be delayed any longer. There was a bomb under the altar. Tripp showed up at the church. He blamed EJ for killing his mother. They argued with each other. Mary told them to stop. She went outside and saw Johnny talking to someone. He said he hoped he didn’t miss the service. She told him a young man came to yell at EJ for kidnapping him. Ava went inside the church. Tripp continued to yell at EJ. EJ told him to leave. Tripp said he wasn’t leaving. Ava came in and told Tripp to come with her. Tripp hugged her. She tried to get him to leave, but EJ stopped her. Nicole had a dream of Eric. She woke up in Susan’s room at the DiMera mansion. Johnny showed up to look for something of Susan’s to bring to the memorial. Nicole told him she was sorry for his loss. He apologized to her for the way he reacted to her staying at the mansion. He said he hoped things would have worked out between her and Rafe. She apologized for the relationship not working out. She said Rafe was a good person, but she wasn’t. She said she would never be a good person. He found Susan’s cross. He said it represented everything that was important to her. He said she was the truest person he ever knew even though people thought she was crazy. He said he had good memories of Nicole being his stepmother. He said he enjoyed being around her. Eric woke up in Sloan’s bed. She gave him coffee. She noticed that he was distracted. He said he had a headache because he didn’t drink anymore. She offered him something to eat, but he wanted something else. After they made love, he told her Belle was wrong when she said getting involved with her would be the worst mistake. Sloan asked him about his time as a priest. He said he wasn’t going to be a priest for a third time. After they made love again, he told her he wasn’t looking for a relationship. She said she wasn’t interested in a relationship. She told him he was welcome to stay with her if he needed a place to stay. She said they could be friends with benefits. He said it has been a while since he has had a real friend.

Paulina woke Eric up. He was in a cell next to hers. They were shocked to see each other. She wanted to know why he was in a cell. He told her what happened. She understood why he had a problem with EJ. She said EJ rubbed everyone the wrong way. She told him about Chanel’s time with Johnny. Eric said he didn’t want to talk about it anymore. They talked about Sloan. Paulina wanted to tear her apart. Sloan showed up and told her to do it. Sloan rubbed it into Paulina that she was in jail. She told Paulina that she and Chanel would be able to spend time with each other in prison. Paulina said what happened was an accident. Sloan didn’t believe her. She said if she wanted them to get married, she would have forced him to marry her in order to get the orchid. She said she wanted more than that. Nicole told EJ that she felt responsible for Eric’s behavior. EJ said it was Eric’s problem, not hers. She said she was still worried. EJ said with Belle as his lawyer and Shawn as the arresting officer, Eric would get a slap on the wrist. Belle told Eric there was nothing she could do for him. She said the court was closed for the day. Eric mentioned that she slept with EJ. Belle was furious. She told Shawn to take him away. He said he used the information to solidify Stefan’s connection to him and the family. Johnny asked how he would feel if someone erased his love for Sami. EJ said he would thank the person. Johnny said he didn’t believe him. EJ said he knew it wasn’t about love. He said it was about Johnny’s need for revenge over what happened with Ava. Johnny said it started out like that. He apologized for taking Ava’s side since it contributed to Susan’s death. EJ said he didn’t blame him. Johnny said she would still be alive if he had done things differently. EJ said Susan would want them to get past it. Johnny wanted to get past it, but Stefan had a right to know about the brainwashing. EJ asked him not to tell anyone. He said he could lose the company as well as go back to prison. He said he just lost his mother. He asked Johnny not to take anything else from him.

Wendy told Li that she knew he had Rolf brainwash Stefan into forgetting about Gabi. Li pretended to be upset. Wendy said she knew when he was lying. He ended up admitting to what he did. He said he thought he could use Stefan as a way to move up the corporate ladder. He said he ended up falling in love with Gabi. Wendy said it wasn’t fair to Gabi. He said he didn’t care if she didn’t approve of what he did. He was only concerned about what she was going to do about it. He said he would lose everything if she said anything. He begged her not to say anything. Jada told Eric she wasn’t pregnant anymore. He thought she had a miscarriage. She said she had an abortion. He asked her why she didn’t tell him. Johnny and Wendy came back from their trip. They couldn’t believe they were right about Rolf tampering with Stefan’s brain. She was afraid to talk to her brother about it. He wanted to go with her in case Li did something, but she thought they would have a better chance of getting information if they divide and conquer. Gabi and Li talked about Rafe and Nicole. Gabi couldn’t believe Nicole would hurt Rafe more than Ava. Li wondered why Nicole would want to go back to an old relationship when she was with someone else. Gabi thought he was talking about her and Stefan. She said Stefan was her past and he was her future. They kissed until Wendy appeared. Wendy said she needed to talk to him. Li flashed back to ordering Rolf to alter Stefan’s mind. LI wanted Wendy to explain why she wasn’t showing up to work to go off with Johnny. Gabi left to get Li some tea. Wendy asked if he made Rolf inject her and Johnny with the mind altering drug. She told him she and Johnny knew what he and Rolf were up to. EJ talked to Stefan about seeing Ava at the crash site. Stefan said he would be there for him. EJ said he appreciated that.

EJ said he was glad Stefan and Chloe were getting closer. He said he wished Gabi could realize that Chloe was the only woman for Stefan. EJ said Chloe was an improvement over Gabi who only wanted to get the company. Johnny walked in and wanted to know how far EJ was going to go. Stefan left them alone so they could talk about Susan. EJ told Johnny what happened to Susan. Johnny asked if he told Sydney. EJ said he told her, but she was inconsolable. EJ told him about the kidnapping. He said he warned Johnny about her. He said he liked how she wanted to make an ethical decision, but she was going to have to decide on what to do. He said her being determined to be a good reporter made him realize he made the right decision by not hiring Xander. She said she didn’t realize that was an option. He said he felt it was a good idea not to have them together. She told him she and Xander were seeing each other. She said they were just friends. He said he didn’t want her to be hurt again. She said she knew Xander didn’t love her and was committed to Sarah. She said she was happy for Xander. Jack said he was proud of her. He wanted to see her work. He said it was good to help one of his daughters. He told her she could call him dad. Sarah asked Xander if he kidnapped Susan and Bonnie. He said he didn’t. She wanted to know what shady thing his employer wanted him to do. He said they wanted him to say a new drug wasn’t addictive, but it was a lie. He said he didn’t want to be a part of something like that. She said she didn’t want to believe he did it, but if he did, she wanted to know. She said she wanted to look up the company he said he worked for. He told her to look. He panicked when she opened the laptop. She found the website. He was shocked that she found it. Chad went to the DiMera mansion. He talked to Tony about coming home early. While they were talking, they talked about EJ and Ava. Tony told him that Ava ran off with Susan after EJ took Tripp. Tony told him not to tell Stephanie. Chad said he wouldn’t say anything. Tony said EJ was getting drunk at the crash site. They left to be with him. EJ yelled out Susan’s name. He heard a noise at the crash site. It turned out to be Ava. He wondered if she was there or if he was drunk. She said she was really there. He said no one could have survived that crash. She said she must be dead and pulled out a gun. She told him he may as well join her. She told him about his need to want to one up her. She said that was what killed Susan. He said he didn’t have a conscience so she couldn’t be that. He said she must really be there. He thought Susan could be alive if she was alive. She said she jumped out of the car before it rolled over, but Susan was in the car when it blew up. She threatened to kill him. They fought over the gun. The gun went off. Chad found EJ against a rock with blood on his head. Tony found EJ’s flask. EJ told them Ava was there and she pulled a gun out on them. He said he wanted to find her. Chad and Tony took EJ away.

He said he wanted to be a father, but he supported her right to choose. He said he also understood why she wouldn’t want to have a baby with a man who left her for his ex-wife. Jada was packing her things when Kate came to see her. Jada told her she was moving out because Eric and Nicole were together. She said she was pregnant. Kate told her not to give up on Eric since he and Kate broke up so easily in the past. Jada said Eric made his decision. She said she had to make her decision about the baby. She said if Nicole weren’t a factor, she would be happy to raise a baby with Eric. She said she wasn’t prepared to be a single mother. She thanked Kate for listening. Kate invited her to dinner. She told Jada that it was her life, body and decision. Roman asked Eric if he would want to raise the baby with Jada if Nicole wasn’t in the picture. Eric said he would, but he loved Nicole. He said that was why it was a big mess. Kate showed up and didn’t care for his comment. Jada showed up and said Kate helped her. She said she made her decision about the baby.

Nicole went to Rafe’s house. He wanted to know why she was there. She said she came to get her things. They talked about Ava and EJ. She wanted to make the dessert she promised to make for Thanksgiving. He didn’t want it at first. He agreed to it because of Arianna. He told her he didn’t want to drag out the divorce. He thought they should get lawyers. He said he wouldn’t fight her on it considering she was with Eric. He said they would call it irreconcilable differences. When she finished the pie, she apologized to him. He thought he deserved what happened after what he did to Ava. Nicole said he wished they could be friends the way they were before. He said it wasn’t possible, at least not right now. She said goodbye.

Rolf called Li from Wendy’s phone. Rolf told Li about what happened with Johnny and Li. Rolf said he had them restrained. Rolf wanted to take their vocal chords for an experiment he was working on. Li said he had a better idea. Gabi walked in and heard Li say he wanted Wendy back empty handed. Gabi questioned him about what he was talking about. He lied to her about what he was talking about. He said he wanted Wendy back in Salem. He said when she got back he was going to fire her. Gabi defended Wendy to Li. She said Wendy and Johnny were cute together. Li said Johnny was a spoiled brat. Gabi said he should let them enjoy their vacation. He said there were consequences. Johnny and Wendy woke up in restraints. Rolf showed up and destroyed the recording Johnny made. Rolf got the syringe ready. He said he was giving Johnny the same injection he gave Gabi. He said when they got to Salem, they would have forgotten why they came. Rolf prepared the syringe for Wendy, but Johnny stopped him. Johnny argued with Rolf. Wendy knocked Rolf out from behind. They restrained him on the gurney and threatened to expose what he did to Stefan. They left him in the lab.

While Rafe was at the airstrip, he called an APB out on Ava. Ava drove Susan on a slick road. EJ followed them in his car. Charlie told Ave to drive off a cliff with Susan. EJ went to the edge and yelled out for his mother. Rafe said he called the FBI since a member of the DiMera family was kidnapped by a Vitalli. While he was talking to the FBI, he got a call about the crash. Rafe showed up where EJ was. He stopped EJ from going down to the cliff. The car exploded. EJ wanted to go to his mother. Rafe followed him. Rafe sat with EJ until the rescue team showed up. A firefighter told EJ there was no one way Susan could have survived the fire. Rafe wanted to take him to the police station to get his statement about Susan’s kidnapping. EJ said it wouldn’t bring him back. Rafe wanted to put it on record. EJ said he didn’t want to relive that again. He left.

She kept trying to get him to let her go free. She wanted to know where they were going. He said he was taking her home. Charlie kept convincing Ava to kill Susan. He said she could prove that she was a Vitalli. He said she could stick it to EJ. Xander came in the crypt with Susan. Ava pulled Xander to the side and yelled at him about bringing Susan there. She had an idea. She told him while she went to get the money, he would stay behind and kill Susan. He said he didn’t sign up for that. She said they needed to take something from EJ he couldn’t replace. Xander said she lost it. He told Susan that he was taking her home. Ava took off his mask. Susan was shocked.

Tony told him where he was. Ava met with EJ. She told him to give her the money or she would put a bullet in his mother’s head. EJ sent her the money. Once she got the money, she told him she would get Susan’s body back. She told him his mother was dead. He pulled out his gun and threatened her. She told him to pull the trigger. Wendy talks to Johnny about what Li did. Johnny said if Li had Stefan brainwashed, he did it because he was in love. He said his father did it for power. He said his family has been taking over people’s brains for years. He released Rolf wouldn’t have come all the way to Jakarta if he didn’t have a lab. She thought it was a great place to start. She started looking through the DiMera finances to find Rolf’s lab. She told Johnny she should go alone and record their conversation. He had a better idea. He put a mic on her. Gabi walked into the DiMera office. She was looking for EJ. Stefan was in the office instead. She told Stefan that she wanted Gabi Chic back since EJ was handling personal business. He told her the DiMeras own it now. He said there was nothing she could do to change his mind. When she was about to slap him, he caught her wrist. Li showed up. She was upset about wanting her company back. Li said he would talk to EJ about it. Li let Stefan know that he was looking for Wendy. Stefan said she was working remotely. Li called her, but she didn’t answer the phone. Gabi told him Wendy was staying with Allie and Chanel. Li left to find Wendy.

Chad left a message for Stephanie telling her that Sloan gave the file to Gwen. Kate went to see him. She asked him about Stephanie. He said it didn’t matter because she was dating Alex. He said he supported her. Kate asked what would happen when he wanted to be more than friends. He said he didn’t know if that would ever happen. Kate said Abby would want him to fall in love again. He said Stephanie and Alex might break up by then. Kate said Stephanie and Alex might fall in love. Chanel admitted to Allie that she killed someone. She told Allie that it happened when she was a senior in college. She said she was struggling in one of her classes. She said Nathan (her professor) gave her extra attention. She said it led to an affair. She said she got a text to meet him on the university rooftop. She said when she got there, Nathan’s wife (Martha) was there. Chanel said they argued. She said Martha attacked her. Chanel didn’t realize how close they were to the edge. She ended up pushing Martha. Chanel said when she looked over the edge, Martha was lying in a pool of blood. Chanel said when the police came, she confessed to everything. She said Paulina showed up and made everything go away. She said the university released a statement saying Martha committed suicide. She said her statement and pictures were gone. She said she pushed her guilt away which was how she met Allie. She said it came back because she never paid for what she did. She said she killed the woman and now had to pay the consequences. Sloan told Paulina that she was the blackmailer. Paulina noticed that Sloan looked like Martha. Sloan said she was her daughter. She said before her father died from alcohol, he admitted that her mother didn’t commit suicide. She said she decided to find out the truth at his funeral. She said that was how she found out about Chanel. Paulina said Chanel pushed Martha in self-defense. She said she wouldn’t let Sloan change history and ruin her daughter’s life. Sloan said Paulina and Chanel would get what they deserved.

Kayla walked in on Steve comforting Ava. Ava said she was counting on him. She ended up leaving. He told Kayla about Tripp being kidnapped. She said she didn’t understand why EJ would kidnap Tripp. She thought Ava might have done something to him. She thought Ava was hiding something from Steve. He said he would deal with it later. He said he had to go to Seattle. She told him to get two seats because she was going with him. He told her not to go, but she refused to listen. Tony told EJ to pay Ava the ransom. EJ thought his actions made his mother safe. He called Ava and told her not to ignore him. She showed up at the mansion. They threatened each other and made demands on each other. She told him she could have someone shoot Susan. He grabbed her by the throat. Tony took him off of her. EJ told her to leave. She told him to get the money because she was running out of patience. When she left, Tony told him to pay the ransom before something happened. Eric and Jada were shocked that she was pregnant. Jada asked Sarah if the test could be wrong. Sarah said they weren’t. She said she would run the test again. She left them alone to talk.

Jada told Eric she saw him kissing Nicole. Jada said she knew Nicole had strong feelings for him, but she didn’t realize he had feelings for her too. He told her he was in denial for a while. He told her to leave, but she refused to leave until he understood that she thought she was over Eric and thought she could have a life with him. She told him she meant her wedding vows. Chad saw Sloan and saw her celebrating. He said she didn’t have a reason to celebrate since she didn’t have any reason to blackmail Paulina since Stephanie took the file. Sloan said she stole the file back thanks to Leo. Chad asked her how much she wanted in order to get it back. Sloan said Paulina would get what was coming to her. She said Paulina had no one to blame but him and Stephanie. She said she went to Trask about it. Chad hurried up and made a call. At the Bistro, Stephanie thanked Alex for getting the file. He said if that was all it took to get a date with her, he would do it all over again. She said it might be time for her to rethink her reason for not wanting to date him. He was happy to hear that. She ignored her phone when Chad called. Chad interrupted their date to tell them about Sloan. Alex wondered how Leo got in Paulina’s safe. Alex wanted to confront Leo. He was at the Bistro with Sonny. Chad and Stephanie stopped Alex from going after Leo. Stephanie asked Leo if Sloan was in Paulina’s office. Leo said she was in the office. He said he opened the safe in front of Sloan. He said he didn’t help her. He said he was distracted when he counted the money.

Stephanie told Alex that she had to get to work. She said she had to take a rain check. Chad left with her. Abe took Paulina to her office. He said he knew the reporters would ask her questions she didn’t have the answers to. He wondered if she did have the answers. She told him Sloan was blackmailing her over Chanel. She said the file was missing from her safe. She said she wanted to see Chanel. He wanted to come up with a plan first. He asked her what Chanel did. She told him what happened. He couldn’t believe she was holding on to that for so long. Paulina apologized for keeping it from him. He said he understood why she did it. He said he would do anything to help. Belle was at the police station with Trask when Shawn brought Chanel in. Belle told Chanel not to say anything. Shawn took Chanel to booking. Allie showed up and told Belle that Chanel was arrested for murder. When Shawn came back, he told Belle and Allie that Chanel was with Trask. Allie asked him to help Chanel. Belle went to the interrogation room. She interrupted Trask’s questions and asked Chanel if she wanted a lawyer. Chanel said she did. Belle told Trask that the interrogation was over. Trask left them alone. Chanel told her about the blackmail file. Belle said she didn’t need to know everything now. She said she wanted to look over the evidence. Allie told Trask that Chanel wasn’t a murderer. Trask said Chanel was keeping a big secret, but it was going to come out soon.

Chad caught Stephanie covering up Paulina’s opponent’s poster with Paulina’s. Stephanie said it was an impulse. She said she wanted to make sure Paulina won. He said he had no doubt Paulina would win. He wanted to take Stephanie out for dinner to celebrate if Paulina won. She said she already had plans with Alex. Chad wondered why she changed her mind. She said she wanted to thank him for the file which saved her job. He said going out to dinner with Alex would make him think she wanted to be with him. She said her opinion about Alex changed. She said she was going to dinner with an open mind. She said Chad was the reason why she wanted to open up to someone again since he wasn’t interested. He wanted to know who said he wasn’t interested. She told him how she heard him talking to Alex about it. He said he didn’t know how to answer Alex’s questions about his feelings for her. He blurted it out. He said he wanted to see where the attraction would take them. He said he was still grieving Abby. He said he wasn’t ready to see anyone seriously. He said he didn’t know if he would ever be. He said he was glad she was ready to date again even if it was Alex. Abe met Paulina in her office. They checked the polls and saw they were leading. Leo came in and said Paulina had messages from the governor and Sloan. Abe wondered why Sloan kept bothering Paulina. Paulina said Sloan wanted a job as her lawyer, but she couldn’t take no for an answer.

When Abe left, Leo admitted to Paulina that Sloan was still bothering him for the money he owed her. He asked Paulina for an advance in his salary. Paulina agreed to give him the money. She got an alert about a meeting and had to give him the money later. Sloan showed up at the Kiriakis mansion and accused him of taking her file. He said he didn’t take it. She didn’t believe him. She walked out of the mansion. Sonny asked him about the file Alex said he stole it for Stephanie. Sloan went to Paulina’s office. She saw Leo. He told her she would have her money. She said she would send in her associates. He was afraid and went in Paulina’s safe. He thought she wouldn’t mind. Sloan noticed the blackmail file in the safe. Abe and Paulina found out they won the election. He said that he was grateful that he was elected, but he was stepping down as mayor to support his wife. Paulina thanked her family and everyone who helped her. While everyone was celebrating Paulina’s victory, Shawn showed up to arrest Chanel on suspicion of murder.
