[ Breathes deeply ] I heard you were denied bail. Mm. My occupation and ties to the international community — in the dictionary right next to “flight risk,” my photo. It’s a good face. So what happens now? Well, now… uh… it’s gonna get a bit worse. So, what’s the plan to break anna out of jail, short of an actual jailbreak? Well, now that she’s been denied bail, I’m running low on options. The robert scorpio I knew wouldn’t have stopped until he’d exhausted every last one. I said I was running low — I didn’t say I was giving up. Believe it. I’m still the man that you know. Elizabeth: I hate to disappoint you, but I came here looking for answers, and I’m not leaving without them. For the past 25 years, I have built a good life for myself and my family. I have been independent for so long, I can’t even remember what it’s like to have parents. But now I need answers only you can give. What kind of answers are you looking for? [ Sighs ] About a year and a half ago, back in port charles, there was an accident in one of the stairwells at the hospital. The details aren’t important, but it triggered a memory. Anna’s gonna be in the pcpd lockup overnight, pending a transfer to pentonville… where she’s awaiting her trial. Pentonville’s a dangerous place for anyone, let alone a decorated law enforcement agent like anna. Oh, she’ll be a target. And victor, well, he gets his way when he had her framed for lucy’s murder. I’ve been holding out hope that lucy would be found by now. Right now, I’m so thankful that you’ve been found. As for lucy, we just sit around and wait for the next miracle.

[ Cellphone ringing ] I got to take this. Who is it? Anna’s last chance.

[ Ringing continues ] So, anna… yeah, she called. She called to tell me that you were visiting charlotte, and she was afraid that your father had set a trap for you, so I caught the first flight out of milan, and I’m here. Well, she was half-right. My father did set a trap by sending me here, but it wasn’t for me — it was for her. Why? Has something happened to her? As soon as I was out of the country, my father had someone posing as anna shoot lucy coe off the dock in port charles. Oh, I heard about poor lucy. I’m grabbing charlotte, and I’m getting out of here. Okay, well, I’m here to help you any way I can. Okay, let’s go. Alright.

This is absolutely a memory. How do you know? People remember things wrong all the time, even important things. So I’m just asking — how can you be sure? Something went wrong in the mariana islands, and your behavior since proves that. The two of you have been missing from my life, from my family’s life for the past 25 years. And then, all of a sudden, you decide to — to reach out? And not — not through me, of course. You reach out through jake and through terry. Something had to have happened to make you want to contact them. Jake had just lost his father. We were concerned. Really? But you weren’t concerned through any of my pregnancies or all the times I got married and divorced or when my husband died? [ Breathes sharply ] Who was reiko finn? So, what’s next? Is there a plan? And if so, what can I do to help? Oh, come on, finn. I’m really glad to see you, but this is my problem, you know? Shouldn’t you be with violet, getting her ready for trick-or-treat? She’s with my dad, alright? If memory serves, in new york state, once a bail decision has been made, it can only be modified if there’s a change of circumstance. Been brushing up on that new york law, have we? No, I’ve been before a judge or two in my day, as you know. But has anything changed that can help anna get another hearing?

[ Sighs ] That’s what I’m trying to figure out. I got to find myself someone who’ll go over judge walsh’s head. Robert, this is a big mistake that could backfire disastrously. You need to stop. Sister. Good day, sir. Mattis: You’re charlotte cassadine’s father. Yeah, that’s right. Proudly so. The good sister was just about to show me the bell tower, since I’m waiting for her to get ready. [ Chuckles ] So, heard you were on a crusade with carly, trying to save a working-class cemetery from redevelopment. Mm, didn’t end the way that we had hoped, but I guess — I guess it all worked out.

[ Sighs ] Okay, so now we’re done with the small talk. Why don’t you tell me why you’re really here? Wow. Am I that obvious? You’re in the company of a beautiful monarch butterfly, and yet you look troubled. Not a difficult guess. I need your advice on a legal matter that, um… well, it could ruin more than one life. Carolyn: Reiko finn? I remember reiko. She was another physician in doctors without borders. There were a few of us stationed on the various islands. But she wasn’t just any physician to you, was she? What about reiko do you want to know? Why ask about her at all? Because she’s who I remember. I have this memory of arguing with reiko, which is crazy to begin with, because I was a teenager and she was a doctor. But I remember telling her to stay away from my father. Why would I say that? Dad, just tell me, what was your relationship with reiko? I need a breather. W-w-what do you say w-we take a walk? The three of us? Just you and me, father and daughter. Why can’t we do this in front of mom? Fine. Since you refuse to let this go… reiko and i had an affair. But she was married to finn at the time. From what I was told, she was a good person. Good people do bad things. Being thrown in the middle of nowhere, working long hours with only strangers as friends? People get lonely. Lonely? You had your entire family with you. Mom, I’M… I’m sorry. Probably should have gone for that walk. I’m sure this is a shock to you. It’s not. Look at you — moving around court officials, looking for loopholes? It — it’s called practicing law. It’s not you, though, is it? I mean, it could jeopardize your standing as D.A. It could destroy your career, really mess up your life. I can’t do nothing. I can’t sit around and watch this woman, the mother of my child, get squeezed by cassadine. Keeping anna out of pentonville is just the first step. She is going to need you not as a friend, but as the D.A., To help her out later on. And if you get into trouble, it could cause even bigger problems for both of you down the line. You’ve got a point. I’ve already got the deputy mayor breathing down my throat, because she works for cassadine. Certainly wouldn’t be a good thing if I was caught doing a favor for anna, on her behalf. Thank you. You know, I think you’re onto something. We could use a break.

[ Sighs ] Great, and while we’re at it, maybe we can figure out how to nail victor. Oh… are you alright? I just got a little dizzy there for a moment. No, I’m fine. I’m fine. Okay. Look, we’re definitely onto something. Why don’t we go outside and get some fresh air? The both of us. Come on. I’m sister margaret, visiting from the diocese. It’s lovely to meet you, mr… mattis. [ Bells tolling ] Whoever rang the bells was 10 minutes early. I thought my timing was spot-on. Peace be with you, father. And also with you. This isn’t about who i could be seeing. This is about the fact that you are seeing nina and how that impacts donna. I’m being very careful in how i introduce nina to donna, but she is part of donna’s life. Right. Uh… I think — you know, I-I believe t-t-that our families are safe from these attacks, but I’m very cautious. Okay, well, I want the girls protected. But you could, uh, run by a hypothetical scenario, and I can offer unofficial advice. Okay, great. So then, um, let’s say there’s a ceo of a company, and he wants to merge that company with a larger company that happens to be owned by his family. And what if his friend purchased stock in that company before the attempted merger? Would that look like insider trading? Hypothetically, did the ceo share this information with the friend before the merger was official? Yes, but — and this is — and this is important — and thoroughly imaginary. The ceo did not ask his friend to drive up the stock value. In fact, he tried to dissuade said friend… said imaginary friend. …From being involved whatsoever. Right. So would that be an example of insider trading? Hell yes. You don’t even have to think about it? The friend purchased stock based on confidential information from the ceo of the company. That is textbook insider trading. Okay. So, I mean, how bad could this get? I mean, in real life? Both parties could serve prison time. Wow. Right. Has there been any inquiry from the sec, hypothetically? No. That’s good, because they would have to prove that the ceo and the friend were entering into conspiracy, and that would be harder to do unless there’s a family or romantic connection. As long as these hypothetical individuals are just acquaintances or casual friends, anyone who would try to press charges would have a hard time finding someone to look into it. Okay, walk me through it. Tell me exactly what you can remember. Reiko and I were at the top of a flight of stairs. I warned her to stay away from you. Next thing I know, she’s at the bottom of the stairs, unconscious. Is that all you can remember? Yes, now can you fill in the blanks? You walked in on reiko and me in A…close moment. That doesn’t explain how she ended up at the bottom of the stairs. Do you know what happened? I wasn’t there. That’s not what I asked. Are you protecting him? Right now, he’s planning to intervene with the judge and get anna another hearing. Yes, I’m sticking close to him. I don’t know what I’m gonna do. I want to be there for elizabeth, but… …I don’t want to push to the point where she ends up shutting me out. Hmm. Are you gonna confront her about it? No. She needs time to figure this out on her own. And me pushing is not gonna solve any of the problems. Yeah, I think that’s wise. Really? Yeah, I do. Can I make a suggestion? By all means. Whatever reason elizabeth has for keeping her movements from you, I very much doubt it’s to push you away. I think in addition to figuring things out, she might be trying to keep you safe from whatever consequences there might be. She’s protecting me. Exactly. Like I’ve been trying to protect her. Different methods, same tension. I think when the time is right, she’ll tell you about it. Um… I have every faith that you two will work it out. Thank you. Yeah. And for what it’s wo rth, I haveevery faith that the truth’s gonna come out and you’ll be fully exonerated and you’ll be out of here in no time. Thank you. I really hope you’re right. I haven’t heard from willow in several days, and I’m really starting to get concerned. My one and only cup of coffee for the day. I love how, um, conscientious you’re being with this pregnancy. [ Chuckles ] We’ll see, but they never changed it when I was growing up.

[ Sighs ] So if this works and you get the time you need, what are you looking for? I’m not sure. I think it’s one of those “I’ll know it when I see it” kind of things? Both of my parents kept meticulous diaries of their many years abroad. You know, the story of the doctor and the psychiatrist who saved the world. I’m just hoping that there’s something in there that will help me connect the dots. Like, how we all knew reiko — who turned out to be finn’s first wife — and how i could have forgotten. Let’s see — you’ve been raising three boys mostly by yourself, along with a full-time career as a nurse. It makes sense to me why you forgot the connection. All I know is I’m really close to getting an answer. I mean, we’re literally sitting in front of my parents’ house. There’s no way I can turn back now.

[ Exhales deeply ] Willow is your friend, not your patient. Yes, but I’d been staying in regular touch with her about her condition. Unofficially, of course. I know willow is in her second trimester, but from what I understand, that’s what she was waiting for to start her leukemia treatment. What is it that you’re looking for from me? I noticed she has an appointment this morning. I was hoping I could sit in on a consult. Willow does have an appointment with me about her pregnancy. If she would like you to be there to offer moral support, that is her choice. But let me be very clear — you would be there as her friend only. Yes, but I’ve been — no. There are no “yes, buts,” dr. Ashford.

[ Sighs ] I know this is a very difficult situation. On our best days as doctors, we provide a binary option of right and wrong. But on other days, the patient is left with an option of doing the least harm. And what we might think is the most palatable outcome, it won’t be the same for every patient. It might not even be the same course we would choose for ourselves or what we’d advise for our loved ones. It’s what is right for that patient. And as doctors, we might not always agree, but we must respect their choices. It’s been so long, I can’t even remember the last time I saw my parents in person. How long’s it been again? Over 20 years. Oh, my god, elizabeth. Why didn’t you ever tell me you were hurting? How do you explain that your parents put “the greater good” over their own children? You don’t owe anyone an explanation. To the world, you’re right. But I owe one to myself. There were way more secrets being kept from me than I realized.

And that means? Well, if your liver and your lymph nodes have swollen and your blood cell count has dropped even further… …it may mean that you’ve advanced to stage iii, which may limit your treatment options.

But it is natural to be, you know, distracted with so much affecting our friends and the people we love. Think about it. It’s lucy, sasha, spencer, ava. How’s ava? Well…physically, she’s recuperating just fine, but she’s conflicted about a few things. If you mean nikolas, that’s a problem of her own making. Nikolas is not the only cassadine problem. If these diamonds are real… they’re worth millions. Well, they’re real enough to cut glass. Hey, what are the odds they were acquired legally? It’s peter, so probably not. They could have been stolen, maybe from my father, or they’re blood diamonds or they’re from something that I want nothing to do with.

[ Grunting ] You don’t deserve to have leopold taub as your father.

[ Sighs ] I don’t know about that. I mean, where I come from matters, you know? Yeah. Dealing with a father who’s dead and gone is a lot easier than someone who’s gonna judge me. Well, you know what? I found out sonny corinthos was my father when I was flat on my back in a hospital bed after he had shot me, after he found out I was working undercover. -[ Chuckles ] -Okay. Lucy overheard a conversation between victor and the deputy mayor the night before lucy was allegedly shot. A huge part of being in a relationship with nikolas is dealing with his family. You’re already on the fence about your marriage. Well, like I’ve made clear, if I choose to end my marriage, it’ll be on my terms, not victor’S. Okay. Alright. Let’s just say that you decide to stay with nikolas. Have you considered what your life is going to be like with — with uncle victor looking over your shoulder constantly, forever? ‘Cause he’s not going anywhere.

[ Sighs ] Victor is just obsessed with this vision he has of a united cassadine family, and I’m clearly not in that image anymore. I thought he liked you. Well, he did, I think, at first. What happened? I don’t know. You know, after nikolas had sex with esme, I didn’t immediately forgive and forget. So maybe victor saw that I’M… not so easily controlled, you know — that I wouldn’t just fall in line with his agenda. Ava… wouldn’t it just be easier for you if you walked away? Not yet. Not until I get some answers.

[ Sighs ]

[ Door closes ] What’s done is done. It’s time to move forward. And working together, we cassadines have a global reach. Cassadine holdings are already international. Jason morgan, sonny’s former enforcer, his right-hand man? And now he’s dead. And that’s what’s gonna happen to you if you stay in this position. From what I understand, jason morgan didn’t die doing anything for sonny. You’re right. Jason died in greece trying to help a friend. But jason worked for sonny from the time he was younger than you. Over the years, jason was shot more times than I could count. He was arrested more times than I could count, sent to prison. He never had anything of his own. Whenever he tried to do something for himself, it failed because his loyalties were always with sonny. Maybe that’s how he wanted it. Of course that’s how he wanted it. Jason never did anything he didn’t want to do. What kills me was that his justification was always how great of a man sonny was. This noble guy who loved his family and who would always take care of my mom. Your mom? She and jason were best friends. Beyond. And sonny knew that. He would literally do anything for her. And guess what? What? It wasn’t even two months that jason had been gone before sonny betrayed my mother, our family, and everything that he was supposed to stand for. Really think about that. Sonny was able to betray a man who devoted his entire life to him, who would have — and did — take a bullet for him. Sonny considered him a brother. How long before sonny betrays you? I mean, what is it about this guy that gets you so worked up? There’s a significant part of me that would like to just cut nikolas out of my life, you know, be done with it. Then why don’t you? Why haven’t you? [ Laughs ] Hm. In his desperation to prove himself, nikolas made a gesture to show me that I could trust him. Well, it must’ve been a pretty grand gesture to have you so conflicted. You both profess a desire to be kept in the loop, yet your actions exclude you from that very privilege. You’re both more focused on your own selfish desires than the greater good. And how is controlling my life serving the greater good? Because ava has clouded your judgment. You’ve handed her the means to your own destruction. Because I love her! Damn it! Apparently more than you love your own son! I need to know why I’m having these fragmented memories of reiko.

[ Sighs ] My parents kept records of — of the time that we spent on the mariana islands. There’s got to be photographs, diaries, just something to give me a clue as to what actually happened. [ Sighs ] Victor: You’ve allowed ava to destroy your relationship with your son. Spencer was angry with me long before ava was in the mix. Yes, of course spencer was hurt. He was angry at you for feigning your own death. But it’s the ava component that’s really alienated him. You’ve essentially orphaned your own son, nikolas. That’s not true. Oh, really? So how did your last visit with him go at pentonville, hm? Oh, that’s right, of course. You’ve never visited him in prison, have you? Not once. ‘Cause you’ve been too busy fawning over ava. How can I respect that? Spencer is your son, a cassadine heir, but you’re consumed with that woman. Oh, don’t get me wrong. Ava is a-a delightful human being. But you seem to be confused about what really matters here — family, the kind you have blood ties with — and what clearly does not. But I can help you. With what? Building bridges with your son. Uh… I wish I had good news, but t-there’s no word yet. Oh, my god. The longer she goes missing the worse it gets. I know that it looks bad, but you cannot bet against lucy coe.

[ Sighs ] Come on. We really don’t have to discuss this now. I know you’re focused on lucy, as you should be. Are you kidding? I’m doing this for lucy. She’d skin me alive if she knew I was neglecting a client. Especially when that client’s you. Are were in the right place? Nina: Hi. Thank you for coming, nina. You said the judge made a decision about my guardianship. Tell me. Felicia, listen, I-I’m going nutty. Now imagine serena’s state of mind. I-I can only imagine. Well, that’s gonna be pretty difficult, considering I didn’t arrest him. But he is considered a suspect in lucy coe’s disappearance. I didn’t see victor in that drone footage. Did you? Well, why don’t we give your boss a call, see if he agrees with me? Do not involve D.A. Scorpio. Well, this is his case, not yours. With all the evidence against anna, his ex-wife and the mother of his child, robert will have no choice but to recuse himself. We are in the very preliminary stages of the investigation. It is way too soon to be talking recusal. And just to be clear, the evidence we have at this point is all circumstantial. Oh. We’ll see. Well, that kiss felt different. It did. Maybe your discretion isn’t so professional after all. How many people in this department, from the old timers to officers who’ve got five years in, feel a loyalty to anna devane? How many of them would be willing to… give her the benefit of the doubt? Or turn a blind eye? Or actively steer the investigation to another direction? There’s a case here. I intend to prosecute it.

The judge ruled that brando’s death makes it even more imperative that you remain under the guidance of a guardian. I can’t imagine it being anyone except brando. Neither can I. Who did the judge choose? Well, that’s the thing. I’m sorry, sasha. Seeing as how you don’t have any other living relatives, it’s gonna have to be a court-appointed guardian. You mean a stranger? I’m afraid so. When I left jacksonville in my 20s, I thought I was going after everything i wanted, you know? A better, different life. And in retrospect, I mean, I wasn’t really running towards anything. I was just trying to escape all my mistakes here. The funny thing is, though, is that you — you actually ended up with a lot of what you wanted. I did. I really did. I mean, I-I figured out who I was at my core, and that’s really huge. But I never realized I was running away. And now I’m able to admit that. So you’re afraid that if you leave now, then — then — then what? You’ll somehow lose that clarity? I’m afraid that, um, if we leave, it’s gonna change us… how we are together, the ease between us. I can talk to you about everything or nothing. I love being with you, and I’m afraid to lose that.

Now, are you saying sasha’s life or day-to-day decisions are gonna be left in the hands of a stranger? That’s correct. That’s not happening. But if that’s the law, then… well, human beings make the law. We can fight it. Right. And we’re gonna win. Because if she needs a guardian, I’m in. And so am I. We will help her in any way possible. Wait. Wait. And no disrespect intended, but [Chuckles] The court is never gonna sign off on somebody with a criminal record. Well, there has to besomething that we can do. Obviously. Look, I get that anna wants to clear her name, but I’m a little surprised you let her walk. In a good way, you’re usually all about playing it by the book. I still am. That so-called incriminating video may have convinced the ada, but to me, it screams setup. And whether or not anna has it in her to kill lucy, I don’t, for one second, believe that she would do it in such a stupid and obvious way. There’s something else going on here, mac. You’re not gonna get an argument out of me. And in the rush to declare lucy dead and charge anna with her murder, people seem to be overlooking one thing. Lucy’s been missing less than 48 hours, and we don’t even have a body. Why didn’t you tell me lucy is missing? Oh, don’t blame robert. He was probably too busy pinching himself, making sure he wasn’t dreaming. Can you believe this?

[ Chuckles ] It is still sinking in. I’m so sorry. Do you have any idea what happened? I mean, we’ve all wanted to tear lucy’s hair out at some point, I certainly have, but wanting to kill her? And as you’ll see, the shooter bears an uncanny resemblance to ms. Devane. Footage that hasn’t been verified. We don’t know if anything on there is real. Hey, I gotta go take care of something. You’re not gonna lose me. Because… I — I understand the true meaning of that word — loss. The weight that comes with it. I was — I was lost for over two years. I love this. Me, too. You know, the ocean is so incredible. It’s amazing how it can make you feel so small in the face of such vast beauty. And you’d think it would make you feel the opposite. So you’re alleging that I followed lucy all the way to a public pier, and then I shot her in full view of anyone who wanted to come by. And as you pointed out, I went to “spy school,” so surely I would have a more clandestine method to eliminate someone at my disposal. I basically put myself out there to get caught. Do you see that this doesn’t make any sense? I see the woman who blackmailed me, the same woman who, when I refused to spy for her, threatened to destroy my life. That’s a bit of an exaggeration. You use people, anna, any way you have to, to even the score in your own petty grudges. With people like you and victor, that gets dangerous real fast. And I should know. I watched my own brother do it for years. The stakes get a little too high, something goes wrong, someone like lucy gets in the way, and then you’ve got to get rid of the problem, permanently.

Look, I think it might be worth mentioning at this point that whenever I was with lucy and anna’s name came up, lucy would get visibly uncomfortable. I agree. I didn’t think anything of it at the time, but now, well… I-I’m beginning to wonder if lucy might have been… afraid of anna? Add that to the evidence you’re “following.” Are you willing to make an official statement? Uh, yes, I-I suppose so. Does that mean you’ve changed your mind? If the person on the video proves to be anna devane, I will reassess. I can’t listen to any more of this. Until then, there’s nothing that links anna to lucy’s presumed death.

The life that I came back to a year ago, that — that wasn’t the life that I-I left, and it took me a while to see it. But there’s beauty in that. And new beginnings. A new beginning for both of us. [ Indistinct conversations ] I guess… it’s too much to hope that he might just confess. We don’t know that there’s enough for him to confess to. Oh, come on. The evidence suggests otherwise. He had a date with lucy when she disappeared. We’re well within our rights to hold him for questioning. Yeah. But for now, he’s got an alibi. Yeah. Of course, because he always has other people do his dirty work for him. Anna, walk with me for a moment? When I first came back to the job, you and laura confided in me that you were working together to prove that victor killed luke spencer… and that he’s up to some even grander scheme. Do you want an update? That’s not it. Anna, as your friend, I’ve given you space to handle that investigation. my hospital. Today? A year ago. Oh. And you get me to tell you how, for my entire adult life, I’ve had this fantasy about going to med school, becoming a doctor after decades of nursing.

You encouraged me. Yes, I did. Why would you do that?! Who goes up to near-strangers and just encourages them?! Someone had to! And I’m glad it was me. Okay, officer falconeri, I am here. What’s so damned important? You haven’t heard from lucy since last night, have you? No. No, I haven’T. Why do you ask? Seems she’s gone missing. What do you mean “missing”? She was last seen on the docks. There were signs of foul play. What kind of signs? There was evidence of a gun being fired. A bullet casing was found near where she was on the pier. Jordan: I need you to level with me. What exactly did lucy get mixed up with? Uh, well, um… she was helping me with my investigation into victor. Helping how? Honestly, I just needed one piece of information, and then… she was getting in over her head, so I tried to pull her out, but I-I forgot how stubborn lucy can be. How hard did you really try to extract her? Well, I-I-I brought martin back here, because I thought that that would at least put an end to her ability to see victor. Well, clearly, this move didn’t work. No. I think it was too late. It might have cost her her life.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Coast guard search and rescue. Maybe they found evidence that lucy survived. This is commissioner ashford. What?

Pretty obvious that this thing with you and olivia is not — not working. Yeah, you warned me what I’d be in for if I bought into this place. I was hoping that I was wrong. Well, she pretty much came out and said that I’d be a good partner… that’s a step in the right direction, right? …If I didn’t do what I did to your family. Even though I’m looking out for them now. I’m quite sure it was not easy for your grandfather to open up about his diagnosis…

[Scoffs] Especially to me. And I made a point… to tell him that I don’t want to hear his excuses about why he abandoned your dad and me. But, t, I got to say, man, it never occurred to me how — how difficult it was to make that decision then and then trying to own up to it now. Well, the world has changed since marshall found out about his schizophrenia. Now, he comes from a time when, if you admitted you had a mental illness, that was considered a weakness, a source of shame, which is ridiculous, but you of all people, you know how much courage and how much strength it takes to reach out. You’ve certainly helped enough people. I’m sure, if the time came, you wouldn’t hesitate to rely on family. Well, here’s hoping. If you don’t mind my asking… have you and portia talked about having kids?

[ Exhales deeply ] T, there’s a — there’s a lot to consider first. Portia: There’s no reason

to even think about curtis having symptoms. I mean, a predisposition, that’s no guarantee that the illness will actually develop. Thank god you were spared that. Yeah. I mean, it looks like I’m in the clear. The only reason I would get tested is if I were to have children, because they could be affected. Nina: We aren’t interrupting, are we? It was a pipe dream, something for me to think about when I was bored or fed up with arrogant doctors.

[ Sighs ] No. The point is that I was happy and liked the road I was on and dreaming of the road not taken. But now, I’m — I’m — I’m at a fork in the road, and it’s all your fault! Now, no, no, no, no, epiphany. All I said was if going to medical school was something you wanted to look into, then you should. You called me “dr. Johnson.” Mm-hmm.

[ Sighs ] And now… all these years, I could say to myself, “epiphany johnson, you would have been a great doctor, especially compared to some of these arrogant yahoos.” It was something… for me to dream about, comfort myself with. Epiphany, how is — how is that gonna change? If I bomb these mcats, the dream is over. No more imaginary genius doctor. I’ll just be a real-life failure. It is the early stages of the investigation, okay? We don’t want to get locked into a theory and miss out on something that could be possibly important. Commissioner. Anna. Is there any news about lucy? The coast guard have finished their preliminary search. As almost a whole day has passed, they’re moving the operation from rescue to recovery. So, lucy — my lucy is presumed dead? Hmm? No, no, I’m sorry. I do not accept that. Not without sufficient evidence. And a single bullet casing is hardly proof of anyone’s demise. Come to think of it, what exactly is the proof she was even on the docks, huh? Much less went into the water. We did find her shoe. Alright, for the sake of argument, let’s say that it was lucy’S. It was probably a high-heeled stiletto. Is it not also equally plausible if somebody fired a shot — one shot — and missed, but that lucy got away? She was running. She lost her shoe in the process. I have teams searching the city to see if she might be hiding out anywhere. What exactly does he have to do with it? Hey, uh, marty, come on. Let’s go for a walk. I should let baldwin know. Yeah.
