Recap written by Christine

Ashland got to Victoria’s office and found she was on the phone with the pilot. Their flight had been delayed. Ashland protested because it was a private flight. He got on the phone and was told that there was some sort of meteorological anomaly happening, causing storms to be coming from both the east and west, so it wouldn’t be safe to fly. He asked Victoria if they should insist the pilot fly anyway. Victoria thought they should trust the expert. Ashland told the pilot that they really wanted to get to Italy. The call ended with the pilot promising to get in touch as soon as it was safe to travel. Ashland couldn’t believe Victor put Adam in charge. He thought Victoria might want to try and talk Victor out of it. Victoria preferred to choose her own battles, and she didn’t want to expend energy on this. Ashland said Adam was free to run amok if he was in charge. She asked if he talked to Adam recently. He had, and he sai Adam made it clear that Victoria and Ashland shouldn’t stay in Tuscany for too long. Victoria said the problem would be solved once they cleared Ashland’s name. He thanked her for reminding her to stay focused on what was important. They hugged, and her face turned cold when she was looking over his shoulder.

Victoria wanted to know about Ashland’s conversation with Adam was like. He told her that Adam had the gall to congratulate him for pulling the wool over Victoria’s eyes. Victoria said it showed that Adam hadn’t changed, despite what he wanted people to believe. Victoria acted like she’d had a revelation, then she theorized that Adam was the one who framed Ashland. Victoria said that Adam even pulled off his own medical scam once and pretended he was blind. Victoria asked what Ashland thought of her theory. Ashland asked if Adam was really devious enough to do something like this. Victoria said it was child’s play for Adam. She pointed out that Adam hacked into ChancComm’s servers to publish that article on Ashland, and even though he said he did it to discredit Billy, it also made Ashland look bad. She said that Adam could’ve tampered with the hospital medical records and bribed the doctors in Peru and had Michael kidnapped. Ashland thought that made sense in a twisted way, but he didn’t think Victor would ever believe it. Victoria said they would need proof.

Victoria thought her theory made sense. She noted that no one was benefiting more than Adam from Ashland falling out of favor with Victor. Ashland said he was going to cancel the trip to Italy because they needed to stay and do a deep dive into Adam’s scheme. Victoria decided Ashland was right – they should stay and put the pressure on Adam, if he was behind this. Ashland said he loved how Victoria’s mind worked. He told her he wasn’t sure he would’ve realized Adam was the one behind these lies. He vowed to find a way to prove it, so they could get their lives back on track. He said, thanks to her, he could finally see an end to this nightmare. “That’s right, this is the beginning of the end,” Victoria said.

Nikki went to Newman Media and found Victor kicked back on a couch reading. She didn’t understand how he was so calm about Victoria going to Italy with Ashland. Victor said it’d be fine. He reminded Nikki that Victoria had a plan. Nikki was worried that Victoria’s plan to pretend she still loved Ashland would backfire. Victor said the plane wasn’t leaving any time soon, since ostensibly, there was a storm in the area. Nikki asked what that meant. Victor revealed that he’d told the pilot to say there was a storm. Nikki was glad about Victor’s ruse, but she said Victoria and Ashland would eventually realize there was no storm. Victor said he was stalling to give Michael enough time to look at Ashland’s contract and find a clause that would allow them to throw Ashland out on his ear. Nikki hoped they could get Ashland out of their lives. Victor recalled that Nikki hoped the allegations were false. She said she’d changed her mind now that she realized who Ashland really was. She was appalled Ashland had Michael held captive in a foreign country. Victor said Ashland wouldn’t get away with this. Nikki wasn’t sure about that, since Ashland never suffered any consequences for his crimes. “How long have you known me? You think I’m gonna let that bastard get away with it? You think I’d allow someone to cross me like that?,” he asked.

Nikki knew Victor would do whatever it took to protect the family and the business. She just never knew what Ashland was capable of. Victor said he had his suspicions about Ashland from the beginning. He’d once asked Ashland point blank if he was faking cancer to play on Victoria’s sympathy. Nikki remembered that conversation. Ashland denied it, and Victor didn’t interfere because Victoria had been as happy as he’d ever seen her. Nikki hoped Victor didn’t blame Victoria for falling for this well-orchestrated con. She reminded him that they all supported the marriage and believed Ashland loved Victoria. Victor wanted to end the discussion, but Nikki insisted on having this talk.

Nikki conceded that Victoria made a mistake trusting Ashland, but she said it didn’t diminish her accomplishments at Newman. Victor agreed that Victoria was running the company well. Nikki felt that Victor signaled he’d lost faith in Victoria’s abilities when he appointed Adam interim CEO. “That was a warning that you might have [Victoria] replaced as CEO,” Nikki contended. Victor thought it made sense to make Adam CEO while Victoria was busy. Nikki thought that, as COO, she was the logical choice to run the company while Victoria was out of the country. Victor said that wouldn’t have the same impact. “Exactly. You were sending [Victoria] a message. And now she may be putting her life at risk because she can sense your judgment and your disappointment,” Nikki said. Nikki thought Victoria would do anything to earn Victor’s respect, and it broke Nikki’s heart because right now, Victoria should know the family supported her unconditionally.
Victor said he loved Victoria and he’d never hurt her. Nikki knew, but she knew Victor could also be obstinate when it came to the business, and that wasn’t what Victoria needed. Victor knew that. He hadn’t made up his mind on how to handle the business. She didn’t think he should until the crisis was resolved. He agreed. He said the company wasn’t his priority now, Victoria was. He vowed to do everything in his power to get Ashland out of their lives.

At Society, Adam pulled out Sally’s chair, and she called him a gentleman. She asked if she’d get breakfast in bed in the morning. He told her to slow down – they were just having drinks. She said this was a special drink because he was in charge of Newman Locke. Adam had a lot of plans for the company, since he’d run it before, successfully. Sally assumed Adam kept an eye on everything Victoria did and thought about what he would’ve done in her place. He was a little unnerved at how well Sally could read him, but he was also impressed. She said it wasn’t hard since they had similar mindsets. She always kept an eye on the competition when she was in LA, and it got to the point that she could’ve run the companies better than their CEOs did. He said she was about to run Newman Media. It hadn’t sunk in yet for her. He wasn’t sure how long she’d be in charge. She said it didn’t matter – she just appreciated him having that kind of faith in her. It had been a long time, she added.

Adam toasted to him and Sally being in charge. She felt like they were jinxing it. She said Ashland and Victoria could throw a wrench in this whenever they wanted to. She asked what if Victoria went running to Daddy to complain. Adam stated that Victor already knew Victoria hated the idea of Adam being in charge. Adam guessed Victor may have put him in charge to provoke Victoria into staying, but it didn’t work. Adam said that Victoria was so determined to get Ashland out of her life that she was willing to let Adam, her least favorite person, be in charge. Sally bet Ashland was Victoria’s least favorite person. Sally didn’t know how Victoria was holding all the emotions in after this ultimate betrayal. Adam said Victoria couldn’t do it forever, and she wouldn’t be able to keep up the charade for long – Ashland would find out, because he was perceptive. Sally added that Ashland was vindictive. She wondered what would happen when Ashland found out his wife was playing him.

Adam said Victoria was her father’s daughter, and she knew how to take care of herself. If anyone was in danger, he thought it was Ashland. Sally and Adam envisioned Victoria pressing a button that ejected Ashland from the plane mid-flight and laughed. Adam didn’t know what Victoria’s plan was, but he’d bet she would come out on top. Sally was surprised Adam said that, given how he felt about Victoria. He said he and his sister didn’t see eye to eye, but she was a formidable opponent – resourceful and smart. Sally thought it sounded like Adam was rooting for Victoria. He said no, he just knew better than to underestimate her. Sally suggested it was in Adam’s best interest if Victoria won – since if she couldn’t get rid of Ashland, he might take Newman Locke from all the Newmans.

Sally thought that it might be in her and Adam’s best interest to wait for Victoria to send Ashland packing. Adam said that it didn’t have to be Victoria who kicked Ashland out, but Victor was giving her a chance to make things right. He knew Victor wouldn’t be shy about stepping in. Sally thought the scenario where Victoria failed and Victor removed Ashland might be best for Adam. Adam said that even if Victoria kicked Locke out, she’d still have a mess to clean up. He said it was all Victoria’s fault for falling for Ashland’s scheme. Sally heard Adam tell Victor that, and she remembered that Victor didn’t seem on board with it. Adam said Sally didn’t understand Victor like he did. He explained that Victor would always defend Victoria, especially in front of non-relatives, but he was disappointed in her. [Victoria] let [Victor] down. That is the greatest sin one of his children can commit,” Adam stated.

Sally felt that Victor promoted Adam as a test to see what he could do with the company. Adam said he had to do a better job than Victoria, and he needed to do it all before she got back from Tuscany. Sally thought that was a tall order, but Adam thought it was a piece of cake. He said Victoria grabbed a lot of headlines while running the company, but what had she really accomplished? Sally noted that Victoria doubled the size of Newman Enterprises. He said she was put in charge of a company her father built, then she merged it with one Locke built, then she bought ChancComm and Newman Media, but it wasn’t clear what she intended to do with all the shiny toys she’d acquired. Sally said Adam had to come out of the gate with a spectacular vision. Adam said he had to grab everyone’s attention. Sally brought up the time she designed Victoria’s wedding dress and used it to launch Newman Fashion. Adam said Sally had a knack for this, and that was why he wanted to discuss it with her. She was pleased he valued her input. She suggested they grab another round and start brainstorming.

Jack was at the outdoor cafe in LA. He flashed to his run in with Diane. He’d told her he wasn’t going to help her connect with Kyle, because that would ruin his life. Diane didn’t think Jack was the kind of man who could keep her from their son. Phyllis showed up, and Jack was shocked to see her, but he was also glad she came. Phyllis wanted to know why Jack was so strange over the phone. At first she thought something had happened with Allie. Jack said Allie was lovely, and she had this twinkle in her eye when she laughed. Phyllis knew where Allie inherited that from. Phyllis asked what was wrong. She’d talked to Lauren, and Lauren backed her up. Jack guessed he shouldn’t be surprised Phyllis knew him so well. He admitted something shocking happened. At first he was going to keep it to himself, but seeing her made him see that he couldn’t handle this alone, and there was no one he trusted more than her.

Jack told Phyllis that Diane was the texter. Phyllis retorted that Diane was dead and burning in hell. She added that Diane died on the bridge, or in the water. When Jack continued to insist that Diane was alive, Phyllis gently floated the theory that Jack was confused because of the stress he was under. She reminded him that she’d been one of several suspects in Diane’s murder. Jack laid out the whole story of Diane faking her death with the help of Deacon Sharpe and a stolen corpse from the morgue. Phyllis was horrified and asked what Diane wanted. Jack said Diane wanted a trade – she lead him to Allie, so she thought it was only fair that Jack bring her back into Kyle’s life. Jack said poor Allie was caught in the middle of all this. Phyllis asked if Diane had been in LA the whole time and if she knew Allie. Jack didn’t know any of the logistics. He just knew he stood in the home Keemo owned and listened to Diane say she’d changed and that she wanted to be back in Kyle’s life after everything she did to him. Jack told Diane that he would not let her break Kyle’s heart again. Phyllis didn’t support Jack’s stance.

Phyllis wasn’t defending Diane, who’d done something disgusting. However, she said Kyle was as little boy when Diane “died” and now he was a grown man with a family. Jack warned Phyllis that she was sounding a lot like Diane. Phyllis understood Jack’s desire to protect his son. She did the same with Summer all the time. She noted that Kyle was devastated when he lost his mom. Jack remembered it well. Kyle had been crushed, and everyone in town was a suspect in the murder, so Kyle didn’t know who to trust. Jack’s job had been to get him through it. “To lose your mother and then find out later that’s what she meant to have happen – she consciously meant to leave you? No. No. He is not going to learn that about her,” Jack stated. Phyllis didn’t think Diane was just going to slither away without reaching out to Kyle. Jack thought Diane was too cowardly to reach out on her own. He noted that she faked her death rather than facing what she did. He said Diane needed someone to do her dirty work, and if she couldn’t get that, she’d go lick her wounds and then ruin someone else’s life.

Phyllis thought Jack was engaging in wishful thinking because he wanted to protect his son. Jack refused to let Diane blow up the life Kyle built with Summer and Harrison in Milan. “I will do everything I can to keep her away from him,” he stated. “You had another son that you kept information from, and look what happened there,” Phyllis replied. Jack said it was different because he didn’t have the bond with Keemo that he had with Kyle. He said Kyle knew Jack loved him and would do anything for him. Phyllis told Jack to believe in and trust the bond he had with Kyle. Phyllis stated that she and Jack knew Diane Jenkins, and she’d blindside Kyle, just like she blindsided Jack. Jack realized Phyllis was right. He just didn’t know how to tell Kyle and turn his life upside down. This wasn’t something you did over the phone. Jack came up with an idea to buy some time so he could warn Kyle before Diane got to him.

Meanwhile, at her home, Diane called someone and asked for Kyle’s direct line in Milan. She lied and told this person that she was his aunt Ashley. It worked, and Diane got the number. Jack returned, and Diane was pleased to see him. Phyllis walked up and steadied herself on the door frame when she saw Diane face to face.

Recap written by Christine

Nate was at Crimson Lights replaying the conversation where he told Ashland to be honest with Victoria. Billy approached Nate and asked what brought on his bad mood. Nate mentioned his run in with Ashland. Billy asked if Nate was the one who showed the evidence about Ashland’s lie. Nate was hesitant to go into detail. Billy didn’t want Nate to say anything that would compromise himself. Billy said Victoria told him enough, and he was sickened. Nate said he lost a lot of sleep thinking about how devastated Victoria must be. He said he hadn’t had the heart to see Victoria yet. Billy hoped Victoria didn’t let Ashland in again. Billy received a text from Nick and read it aloud – Ashland and Victoria were headed to Tuscany. Nate was surprised by this news. Billy went off to talk to Victoria.

Ashland went to Victoria’s office and told her that the bags were packed. Victoria said she was convinced that once they were away from Genoa City, her family and the distractions, they could figure out who was framing him. Victoria revealed that Victor put Adam in charge of the day to day while she and Ashland were away. Ashland was annoyed. He thought this was the first move in a power-play on Victor’s part. Victoria thought they could use this to their advantage. She didn’t think it mattered if Victor and Adam thought they were winning, since she and Ashland were still the ones making the most meaningful decisions.

Billy entered Victoria’s office and insisted on talking to her now. He said he knew they were leaving town. Ashland asked how, and Billy said Nick told him. Billy was met with resistance, so he said there was an emergency involving the kids. Ashland stated that he was concerned too and told Billy to talk. Victoria sent Ashland out. A skeptical Victoria asked what was wrong with the kids. He admitted they were fine. She thought it was low to lie about their kids to get her alone. He said he didn’t lie – this was about the kids and the fact that she didn’t seem to care that Ashland lied about being sick to get control of the company. He was concerned about her leaving town with Ashland. He needed to know she wasn’t going to forgive Ashland. “Or what you’re gonna try to take the kids away from me?,” she asked. She noted that he didn’t even know her plan. He said he was her friend, the one she confided in about Ashland. He needed to know she wasn’t going to let Ashland convince her to give him another chance. He was worried. She told him she could handle herself. She told him not to dare suggest she’d put the kids in jeopardy. He wasn’t worried about her actions, but Ashland’s.

Adam told Sally he was going to be interim CEO. Sally thought that was a huge vote of confidence from Victor. Adam had no illusions where Victor was concerned, but he’d take this temporary promotion. Sally asked where this left her. He said they were a team, so he’d need her to step up here big time. She promised he could count on her. She asked how Victoria took it. He said Victoria didn’t like it, but she accepted it, not that Victor gave her a choice. Sally said this would give Victoria time to figure out how to deal with the scum she was married to. Adam couldn’t figure out what Victoria’s game was. Sally though it was a waste of time to try and crawl into Victoria’s head. Sally wanted to help Adam strategize so he could prove he was the best CEO. She was going to go get them some food. Chelsea called and said she got Blackhawks tickets for Connor, but she had to go to NY on business, so she hoped Adam could take him. Adam couldn’t go either because he just got a promotion of sorts and he couldn’t leave town. Chelsea felt bad because Connor would be disappointed.

Sally went to Society and ran into Chelsea. They were civil and commented on the way that they’d buried the hatchet. Chelsea said they weren’t in each other’s orbit anymore. Sally thought they were still in each other’s orbit because of Adam. Sally heard the conversation about the Blackhawks tickets, and she was sorry it didn’t work out. Chelsea said Sally sounded sincere. Sally had nothing against Connor or Chelsea. She assumed Chelsea must be really busy at work choosing a business trip over a mother-son bonding experience. Chelsea noted that it sounded like Adam had to make that same decision. Sally said that things were very busy at work. Chelsea thought that sounded tedious, and she was glad to be away from the family drama. Sally was having a blast – she loved working with Adam. Chelsea wished Sally and Adam the best and hoped Adam found what he was looking for.

Sally thought it was too bad they couldn’t have made peace sooner, so they could’ve saved Newman Fashion. Chelsea didn’t think the three of them would’ve been able to work for Adam and expect it to go smoothly. Sally saw the point. Chelsea thought everyone ended up where they were supposed to. Sally asked if this civility extended to their personal lives. Chelsea didn’t know what was going on with Sally and Adam, and she wasn’t interested in knowing, but she said whatever it was, she’d deal with it.

Rey walked up and greeted Chelsea and Sally. Sally left. Rey overheard what Chelsea said about Adam, and he commended her for cutting the cord. Rey had never seen Chelsea happy before this. Chelsea said that Sally tried to goad her about Adam, but the truth was Sally and Adam being together didn’t bother her. Chelsea thought Rey’s pep talks helped her turn the corner. He saw how hard she’d worked to turn around her life. He said she was even happier now than she was earlier today when she was worried about Connor’s attitude. She told him about the Blackhawks ticket dilemma. Rey offered to take Connor. His schedule changed, so he didn’t have to work anymore. She said he was a lifesaver, but he said she’d be doing him a favor if she let him go to the game with Connor.

Ashland went to Adam’s office and said they had to get some things straight. Adam asked if Ashland reconsidered the offer – Adam wouldn’t publish the story about Ashland’s fake cancer if Ashland left town for good. Ashland said he and his beautiful wife were going to Tuscany. He knew Adam was already aware, because his daddy appointed him pretend CEO. Ashland said that Adam wasn’t going to post any stories about him. Adam smiled and asked why. “Ironically by putting you in charge Victor has neutralized that particular threat. Publishing anything about how I somehow hoodwinked the entire Newman family into appointing me co CEO would reflect very badly on the interim boss – that’s you,” Ashland said. Ashland predicted that if Adam published the story, the press would hound him for details, and he’d buckle under the pressure and the company would suffer, and it would all get worse once Ashland revealed the story was based on a lie. Adam said he’d make his own judgment calls, just as his father empowered him to.

Ashland said Adam was babysitting the home office until Ashland and Victoria got back, not running the empire. Adam sensed Ashland was worried about something. Adam said it blew his mind that Victoria still trusted Ashland despite all the evidence. Ashland suggested Victoria wasn’t as easily duped as the rest of the Newmans. Adam marveled at Ashland for still pretending he was framed. Adam admired Ashland as much as he despised him. Ashland didn’t care about Adam or Victor’s opinion – Victoria’s opinion was the only one that mattered to him. Ashland headed toward the door. Adam asked what about Harrison’s opinion – one day he’d be old enough to understand what his father did. Ashland turned and glared at Adam and called him an SOB. Ashland told Adam not to get too comfortable in this job, then he left. Adam cheerfully called after Ashland to have a safe flight.

Sally went back to work, and Adam told her about his talk with Ashland. Adam said that Ashland seemed off and unnerved. Adam thought it was a weak move on Ashland’s part to come and try to intimidate him. Adam wondered if Victor had put him in charge in order to throw Ashland off his game. Adam knew Victoria was up to something too. He hoped she was playing Locke the same way he played her. Adam was glad Victoria was leaving town. It would give him a chance to show Victor that he was better at running Newman Locke than his gullible sister ever would be.

Sally found Adam’s steely determination unbelievably hot. She said it might make it hard for her to focus on work. She asked what would happen to her if he was successful at becoming the permanent CEO. He implied that she would become the CEO of Newman Media. They kissed.

Billy didn’t think it was safe for Victoria to leave town with Ashland. She told him not to be melodramatic. He reminded her that she was the one who pondered whether Ashland was capable of harming her. Billy said that if Ashland wanted Newman, Victoria was simply something standing in the way. Victoria didn’t think Ashland would physically harm her. Billy didn’t trust Ashland. Victoria said that her father’s men would be secretly shadowing her while she was away – not that she asked for that, but Victor was doing it anyway. Billy wanted to know why Victoria was going to Italy. Victoria said she confided in Billy because she knew he was the one person who truly knew her. She had a plan, and when she was through, the kids wouldn’t be exposed to Ashland anymore. He asked her to promise she’d be careful, then he left.

Ashland returned and asked if the kids were okay. Victoria said that Billy just used the kids as a cheap trick to talk to her alone. She said Billy warned her that Ashland probably planned to do her harm and take over Newman Locke. Ashland was furious Billy put those ideas in Victoria’s head. Victoria assured Ashland that she knew he’d never harm her. He said this smear campaign had to stop. She stated that her family was desperate, that’s why they involved Billy. Ashland could handle her family thinking badly of him, and he could even handle the public humiliation, but he couldn’t handle her thinking he’d harm her. She took his hands and asked him to tell her again that he’d never do anything so deceitful and ugly to her. He said he loved her too much to hurt her in any way. The most painful part of this for him was to think she’d doubted that even for a moment. She hugged him, but when she was looking over his shoulder, her brow furrowed.

Elena was settling into her new home – the penthouse with Nate. After she put the finishing touches on the décor, she wondered where he was. Devon and Amanda dropped by with wine and a gift. Elena invited them to stay, but they saw the flowers and Elena’s outfit and felt like they were intruding on a date. Elena said Nate wasn’t there and invited them to stay. She was sure Nate would be happy to see them. Nate returned all out of sorts and without the food. He guessed he left it in the car. He explained that he had a run in with Ashland Locke. He smiled and said that there was no better way to forget it than to toast with Elena, Devon and Amanda.

Nate said there was so much to celebrate, so how could they choose? Devon though they should celebrate Amanda going back to the corporate world. Amanda suggested toating to Devon and Lily’s merger. Nate suggested toasting to Elena, a rising star at Memorial, and to the next chapter in the amazing penthouse. In Elena’s opinion, they should toast to Nate’s huge career change. Devon asked how Elena felt about Nate leaving medicine. Elena admitted it took some getting used to. She’ only known him as Doctor – he cared about his patients deeply, some would say too much. She added that she and Nate met in the medical world, and she enjoyed working with him. He said that the hours were better, giving him more time to lavish on the woman he loved. The biggest reason Elena supported the decision was Nate would be working with his family. Amanda said they were all so blessed. Devon toasted to all their new beginnings.

Recap written by Christine

Phyllis was at the hotel. She called Jack and left a message letting him know she was there for him. Lauren came needing an Escape Club session to relax. Phyllis offered a listening ear, and Lauren accepted. She gave Phyllis a vague rundown about Michael’s job with Victor. She said she went days without hearing from Michael. Phyllis assumed Michael saw it as an adventure. Lauren said exactly. She asked if she was just supposed to accept this unpredictable lifestyle. Phyllis wondered why the thing you loved about someone was also the thing that drove you crazy and made you worry about them. Lauren felt like they weren’t talking about Michael anymore. She asked if Phyllis was worried about Jack. Phyllis wasn’t worried before, but now she was wondering if she should be.

Lauren wanted to know what was going on with her friend, Jack. Phyllis said it wasn’t her news to share. She added that he was in LA dealing with something from his past. She was worried about him facing this alone. Lauren was sure Jack appreciated Phyllis’s support and opinion. Phyllis thought Jack was tired of her opinion. Phyllis felt like she was walking the line between being a friend and meddling. Phyllis said that this wasn’t anything as concerning as what Lauren and Michael were going through. Phyllis was worried though because Jack usually returned her calls, and he wasn’t this time. She said Jack had an amazing heart, and sometimes it could cause him to be blindsided in the worst way.

Jack returned to Diane’s house in LA, after she sent a text asking him to come back. He didn’t want to be there, but he thought it was obvious that she wasn’t going to let this go until she said what she had to say. He was unhappy she’d dragged his grieving granddaughter into her little game. He made it clear that Allie was off-limits. Diane said she’d tried to give Jack something he didn’t know he lost. She knew he was grateful. He angrily thanked her and said they were done here. She was trying to make amends. He said she wasn’t trying to make amends to the people she hurt. He told her she stole something from Kyle that she could never give back. Jack flashed back to comforting a young Kyle after Diane’s supposed death. “You tore that little boy’s heart out and for that, I will never forgive you,” Jack told Diane. Diane replied that Jack might not forgive her, but she thought he might be able to understand.

Tell me why you shredded Genoa City and our son’s life” Jack demanded. Diane felt there was no other way. She’d pulled so many schemes back then. Victor hated her at that point, and she’d wronged Nikki, Phyllis, Tucker and Ashley. Her plan had been to fake her own death and take Kyle far away, but things didn’t go as planned. Everyone had been angry and wanted her gone. She’d been panicked, and Deacon came to her aid. “Oh dear God,” Jack sighed. A corpse from the morgue helped the illusion, and she paid off everyone who could reveal the truth. But when it was time, she couldn’t meet up with Kyle, because she knew they couldn’t outrun Jack, and she couldn’t do that to their son. She cried that having the world hate her was hard, but it crushed her to lose Kyle. She was broken and she felt worthless, and she convinced herself that Kyle was better off without her. She knew Jack would love Kyle and keep him safe. She went west. Jack snapped that Diane ran away and didn’t take responsibility and face the people she abused. She said everyone hated her, and in time, she hated herself. The self-loathing, guilt and the shame made her decide that, since the world wanted her dead, she should give them what they wanted. Jack accused Diane of doing this out of self-pity. Diane sought therapy, and she worked through it over the years. She always held Kyle in her heart, and she read about him on the internet, and she said it was obvious that Jack made him into a wonderful man. She knew that Kyle was in Milan with a wife and child. “Jack, we’re grandparents,” Diane said. “We are nothing. You are Kyle’s late mother. That’s what you chose,” Jack said. Diane had stayed away because she couldn’t upturn Kyle’s life again. Jack thought that was the one decent thing Diane did in this journey of self discovery. He said they both knew she wanted something else, and he asked what it was – attention, absolution, money? He wanted to know what she was after so they could be done with this.

Diane asked if Jack didn’t have any good memories of them. She did. She had her heart broken more than once, but it was worth it, just to be in his life. He said that was decades ago, and if she was still holding onto that, he couldn’t help her. It was far more bad than good, in his opinon. There was a flashback to Jack and Diane. He told her that Phyllis found some plans Diane drew up for a dream house Diane and Jack were going to live in. Diane was touched Jack kept them. Jack said he ripped them up this morning. He’d then told Phyllis that when Diane was with him, she was also getting romantically involved with Victor Newman. Jack considered his entire relationship with Diane to be a waste of time. “I’ve come to realize over time that Victor Newman did me a favor taking you off my hands,” Jack had said.

In the present, Diane said she and Jack may have been too much alike. The spark was addictive, for her, at least, and she said there was love. She flashed back to the time Jack put a diamond engagement ring in her glass of champagne. He proposed and asked her to make him the happiest man on the planet. “I loved you Jack. And I know there was a time that you loved me too,” Diane told Jack, in the present. Jack told Diane that love died before she’d faked her death. He said to stop whipping up nostalgia. Any warm or any neutral feelings he had for her were obliterated by this latest stunt. She said she brought Allie into his life, and more importantly, she brought Kyle into this world. She told Jack that they were connected. Jack felt that having Kyle was the one good thing Diane ever did. He thought it was absurd that she’d purchased this entire house just to talk to him. He asked if that sounded normal to her. She said she’d done the work – the old Diane was dead, and it was time for her to make amends. He noted that there were other people she’d hurt. She knew there were others. She said when Keemo died, Jack lost any chance at being part of his son’s life, then she guided him to Allie. She knew family meant the world to him, just as it did to her. He realized she wanted him to help her connect to Kyle.

Jack wasn’t surprised Diane had a demand. Diane said it was a request that Jack, of all people could understand. He reminded her she’d admitted to being toxic. She said that was the past. He pointed out that she recently manipulated Allie, deceived him, and sent mysterious texts so he’d find his son’s obituary. She said she protected Kyle by leaving, but he was a grown man, a father who understood how deep a parent’s love went. She said Kyle was in a better place to understand her love, and she was in a better place, and she could be a healthy presence in Kyle’s life. She reminded him about the time they’d admiring their boy. He remembered how she shipped Kyle off to Switzerland and changed his name to Timothy to hide him from Jack. Diane regretted that, but she’d changed. She told him he’d changed too, so he shouldn’t pretend it wasn’t possible. She reminded him that he’d been cold and callous, vengeful and a user, but he’d changed, so why couldn’t he believe she could too?

Diane said Kyle was her son. Jack said Kyle was a grown man who’d built a wonderful life, and he wouldn’t let Diane poison it. Jack said he was going to go home and forget this ever happened. Diane said Jack wasn’t the kind of man who could do that. She said he loved Kyle with his whole heart, and Kyle was half her. Jack said Kyle grieved for Diane, and Jack held and comforted and protected him. He wasn’t going to stop protecting Kyle now. Diane yelled that Kyle needed his mother. Jack coldly said Kyle needed a real mother, not Diane. He said she didn’t deserve Kyle, and he left.

Jack went to the outdoor cafe and texted Allie asking to meet. While he waited for a response, he had a flashback to an old memory. He was with Phyllis, and he was trying to convince her that he didn’t have feelings for Diane. Jack had said he should be thanking Victor for getting Diane out of his life. Phyllis and Jack discussed the fact that Victor and Diane got divorced after everyone learned that the baby Diane was carrying wasn’t Victor’s, as Diane had insisted it was. Diane had left town after the news came out. Jack ripped up the blueprints for the house Diane had designed. There was another flashback. Jack informed Phyllis that he was the father of Diane’s child. Phyllis asked how this could be. She knew Diane got pregnant using sperm she stole from a reproductive lab. Jack explained that, after his testicular cancer scare, he’d donated sperm and had it frozen and stored in the lab. Phyllis was was distraught. It turned out that Victor’s sperm sample was switched with Jack’s, and now Jack was the father.

Phyllis blamed Nikki for switching Jack and Victor’s samples. Jack said it wasn’t Nikki. He told Phyllis that Nikki never met the man who switched the samples. He thought the switch was a coincidence. Phyllis didn’t believe it. She said it was either Nikki, or Diane, since Diane had a thing for Jack. Jack was sure Nikki wouldn’t do anything like that to him. He didn’t think it was Diane, because if she’d known the truth about her baby’s father, she would’ve just come to Jack instead of leaving town in disgrace for a year. He pointed out that he and Phyllis weren’t together when Diane found out Victor wasn’t the baby’s father. Jack said Diane was just as messed up by this as he was. Phyllis didn’t think Diane was actually upset about this. Phyllis demanded to know what Diane was planning to do – give the baby to Jack and Phyllis, then go back to her life in Milan? “Not exactly,” Jack admitted. “Don’t you dare tell me that you’re thinking of making Diane stay in Genoa City so we can share custody with her and have this bitch in our lives 24/7,” Phyllis replied.

In the present, Jack called Phyllis and said he met with Allie. He promised to share the details , when he got back. She could tell in his voice something was going on. He told her not to worry. Allie arrived, Jack ended the call. Allie asked what was going on with Diane. He told her forget about Diane. Allie didn’t like Diane living in her dad’s house – one she only bought to get to Jack. Jack was so sorry. Allie didn’t blame him, but he felt responsible. Allie said Diane abandoned her son when he needed her, and now she wanted him back. Jack said that wasn’t going to happen. He added that he told Diane to stay away from Allie. Allie asked if Diane would stay away from Jack. He was adamant that he could handle Diane. Allie smiled. The way Jack said that reminded her of how fierce Keemo could be when he got protective. Allie said she’d have to tell her dad to tone it down sometimes. Jack wanted to hear how Keemo – Hao was as a father. Allie had a lot of stories. She also wanted to know about Jack and his family. Jack said they were Allie’s family too. He asked who she wanted to hear about first – her great aunts, her cousins, her uncle Kyle, who was pretty close to her age. This was surreal for Allie. He said it was so much better than he ever expected. Jack told Allie about Abbott family breakfasts. Allie said as an only child, she got plenty of attention. Her dad was always there for her, but she was embarrassed when Keemo would come and give her a standing ovation at her mathlete competitions. She smiled at the memory.

Phyllis felt worse after talking to Jack, because she could tell something was wrong. Lauren asked what this was about. Phyllis said it was about Jack’s family, which was the source of all his emotional scars, all the way back to Dina. Lauren knew you didn’t get over being abandoned by a parent. Lauren could relate, because she’d had a really had time with her mom. Phyllis heard that when Dina first came to town to reconnect with her adult kids, Traci and Ashley were very guarded, but Jack let Dina in, only to get the rug ripped out from under him time and time again. Lauren knew the family back then, and she said that was accurate. She said Jack had that capacity for love and forgiveness. Phyllis said she’d hurt Jack a lot. Lauren said Phyllis and Jack were beyond that now. Phyllis agreed. She was careful with Jack because she didn’t want to hurt him again. Phyllis was convinced something was wrong in LA. Earlier when she spoke to Jack, he was fine. Then Phyllis spoke with someone else who was worried about Jack, and that stirred up Phyllis’s protective feelings. And Jack sounded off in this new call, and she knew something happened. Lauren said Michael was at home resting, and he wasn’t going to stop until he’d righted a wrong. Lauren understood Phyllis loved Jack and didn’t want to see him hurt.

Back at her place, Diane flashed back to bringing a toddler-aged Kyle to visit Jack. Diane knew Jack didn’t trust her, but seeing him with Kyle made her wish there could be a better solution. Diane had another flashback. In this one, Kyle was school aged, and Diane had brought him for another visit with Jack. Jack ruffled his son’s hair and said he was proud of him. “You’ve turned into a great kid and I know that wasn’t my doing,” Jack said. Diane smiled and implied that Jack deserved credit too. Kyle told Diane that Jack wanted to be there for his next father/son event. Diane hoped that would happen.

Diane remembered Jack letting her move into the Abbott estate. He made it clear that this was temporary. He didn’t want her to move halfway around the world. She asked what his father thought of it, and he said he’d make sure she could stay. Diane was pleased until Jack said she’d be living at the pool house and not the mansion He thought, under the circumstances, they should keep distance between Diane and Phyllis. Phyllis and Jack were married, so he wanted to consider her feelings. Diane grumbled that Jack was sticking her and his son into some out building so Phyllis wouldn’t be upset. “Thanks a lot Jack. For nothing,” she spat.

In the present, Diane looked at a recent picture of Kyle on her phone and cried.

Recap written by Christine

Victor treated Lauren and Michael to lunch at Society. He said it was the least he could do after Michael spent time in that Peruvian prison. Lauren said all the wine in the world wouldn’t erase the fact that Michael’s life had been in danger, and Victor was dishonest with her. Victor appreciated Michael’s continued loyalty. Lauren made it clear that Michael was quitting. Michael said Ashland had him locked up, not Victor. Michael was personally involved in this fight, and he wasn’t walking away. Lauren was concerned because Michael just said Ashland was still a threat. Victor promised his protection, and Lauren countered that he didn’t keep Michael safe before. Michael said it wasn’t the worst prison he’d ever been in. Lauren didn’t think that was funny. Victor said Michael’s next assignment would be local. Victor wanted Michael to look at the Newman Locke merger contract and find a loophole they could use to get Ashland out of the company. Michael asked where things stood with Victoria and Ashland. Victor said Victoria knew everything, and she had a plan that she wouldn’t disclose. Sadly, Victoria was still in love with Ashland, so Victor wasn’t going to leave this in her hands. Victor said Ashland needed to be dealt with swiftly and severely.

After Victor left, Michael kept ordering wine, and Lauren asked if he was trying to get her drunk. The thought had crossed her mind. She said she wasn’t going to change her mind about him working for Victor. He tried to charm her into being okay with it. She said he had no idea how hard it was for her, not knowing he was okay. She informed him that he’d be spending the rest of his life making it up to her. He agreed. He said he was fine and safe. She wanted him to stay that way. She reminded him he retired because he wanted to spend more time with her. He said he’d be so attentive that she’d be begging him for a restraining order. He felt he had to see this case through, for himself, not Victor. He was adamant that Ashland needed to be held accountable for keeping him and Lauren apart and making her worry. When Michael was locked up, he thought of three things – coming home to his gorgeous wife, celebrating with his family, and making sure Ashland reaped what he’d sown.

At Crimson Lights, Billy swore Lily to secrecy, then he told her everything Victoria confided in him about Ashland faking his illness. Lily was appalled Ashland pretended to have cancer. She saw it as an insult to cancer sufferers and their loved ones. Billy said that Victoria and Ashland’s conversation ended in hugs and kisses. Nikki and Nick came in, and Billy asked if they’d heard from Victoria. Lily shared that Billy filled her in. Nikki knew that Lily understood. Lily said she wouldn’t say a word, though she had choice ones for Locke. Billy didn’t want to butt in, he was just hoping Victoria ended things with Ashland.

Nick and Nikki said Victoria was being tight-lipped. Nikki thought Victoria needed time to come to terms with who Ashland really was. Nick said they had to get Ashland out of Victoria’s life immediately. Billy agreed and added that Victoria might not be thinking logically. Lily noted that Victoria made tough decisions every day. Nikki agreed and said this was in Victoria’s hands. Nikki had to leave.

Nick asked what Billy’s thoughts were. Billy had legal thoughts, and illegal ones. Nick said no one in the family had been able to get Victoria to see reason, so against his better judgment, he was turning to Billy. Nick thought Billy was the best one to try and get through to Victoria. Billy said Victor would love Billy saving the day. Nick said Billy could gloat all he wanted once Victoria was safe. If Billy did this, Nick would never forget it. Billy didn’t think he was the right guy for this. He’d talked to Victoria about Ashland, when Nick was there, and she’d walked away. Nick thought that the fact that Victoria confided in Billy earlier, when they were alone, was significant. She hadn’t opened up to anyone else in the family about her anger. Lily thought Nikki was right when she said Victoria should take the lead. Nick said time was of the essence, and he thought Billy was their best shot.

Lily and Billy were alone. He could see she didn’t like the idea of him getting involved. She didn’t want him making an enemy of Ashland. “He’s despised me for a long time, and I’m still standing,” Billy replied. He promised Lily that she’d be safe. He said that Ashland was more dangerous than they thought, and he didn’t want Ashland near Johnny and Katie. Billy was going to talk to Victoria one more time. Lily grudgingly agreed. He promised he’d fix this. He thanked her and said he loved her, then they kissed.

Victoria and Ashland were in her office. She had some loose ends to tie up at the office, and she asked him to go home and pack their bags and grab something from Society for the flight. He had a feeling she was trying to get rid of him, but she said she just had everything under control. He was hoping to hear her say she loved him and that they were okay. She said they were fantastic, but they might not be if they didn’t get on the jet. He didn’t think her response was the most enthusiastic. She wanted to make a pact to believe each other, and he accepted. He couldn’t wait to get her to Italy, all to himself. “Maybe we’ll just never come back,” he said. He went into the hall and closed the door, and he let out a big exhale.

Sally went to Adam’s office and told him to tell her what the fire was, and they’d figure it out together. She asked what the latest was on Victoria and the big bad wolf. Adam didn’t know, since he’d been out of the loop since Victoria’s ill-fated intervention. He said his family only wanted him around when he was useful, and when they didn’t need him anymore, he was out in the cold. Sally suggested there was nothing new to report. Adam was naturally suspicious of the Newmans, especially his dad. He said she’d pick up on the subtleties as she spent more time with them. She replied that there was nothing subtle about Adam and Victor’s dynamic.

Sally shifted gears and brought up Newman Locke. Adam said Newman Locke would face consequences from what Ashland did, especially if Victoria stood by him. He thought there would definitely be a change at the top. Sally said it could be Adam. He said she’d be right there with him. She said that if they were going to pull this off, they had to be proactive. He decided to reach out to his father, to find out what was going on, then he’d make a plan of his own. Victor showed up and wanted a moment alone with Adam. Adam said he’d already told Sally everything. Victor said this was about family, not business, but Adam said it was about both. Victor relented and let Sally stay.

Victor said Victoria claimed she had a plan, but she wouldn’t share what it was. “You don’t believe her, do you?,” Adam asked. “I mean, I didn’t realize that Billy was pretending to be a lush, and she wanted me fired, now she’s gonna put the whole future of the company at risk,” Adam said. He asked if they were supposed to sit by and let Victoria bury them deeper. Victor said the company was as important to Victoria as it was to the rest of them. Adam thought Victoria was going to try to protect her public image, and maybe even her marriage. Adam asked if Victor could really trust Victoria to do what was right for Newman. Victor wished Adam would stop vilifying his sister, who was the victim in all this. Adam said Victoria ignored the warning signs and made Ashland co-CEO. Victoria called Victor and asked him to come to her office and bring Adam.

Victoria gathered her parents and brothers at her office. She said she and Ashland were leaving for Tuscany. Victor wanted to know Victoria’s plan, since the fate of the company depended on it. Victoria didn’t want to say. Nikki had the utmost respect for Victoria, but this plan was ill advised. Victoria asked Nikki to trust her. Victoria said that while Victoria was gallivanting around Tuscany, he was appointing Adam the temporary CEO of Newman Enterprises. “No, I don’t need a replacement,” Victoria said. She apologized for the misunderstanding and clarified that she could handle running things from Italy. Victor said there was no misunderstanding – he wanted Adam running things while Victoria was gone.

Nate was shocked to run into Ashland at Society. he thought Ashland would’ve left town. Ashland said he’d been dealing with baseless rumors his entire life. “For God’s sake, give it up,” Nate replied. Ashland said there was nothing he could say or do to convince Nate of the truth. Nate had seen the evidence. Ashland was sorry he’d lost Nate’s trust and friendship. As someone who’d once considered Ashland a friend and defended him, Nate had advice. He told Ashland to stop lying and tell Victoria the truth and to do the right thing for once in his life.

Who the hell are you,” Jack demanded of “Taylor.” He, Taylor and Allie were at Keemo’s old house in LA. “You know me, Jack. You know exactly who I am,” “Taylor” replied. Jack turned to Allie and asked if she was part of this. Allie had no idea what was going on. She asked Taylor if she knew Jack and if that was why she bought the house. “Her name isn’t Taylor. Her name is Diane Jenkins. And she shouldn’t be here. That woman died. That woman was buried, and believe it or not, she was mourned,” Jack replied. Diane was happy to see Jack again. She’d imagined this moment for a very long time. Allie wanted Jack to explain what he meant when he said Diane was dead. Diane stated that that a huge part of her died in Genoa City – she was lost and desperate, and so much hate and anger was directed toward her. Jack sarcastically said that Diane had been an innocent bystander. Diane admitted that she caused the trouble in her life. She’d had a vision of escaping and starting over, but it didn’t go as planned. Jack snarled that Diane left nothing but destruction, anger and upset, and she only thought about herself. Diane said she thought so much about Jack and Kyle. Allie was distraught about having been dragged into all this. Jack told Allie to forget she ever met Diane, a vengeful and vicious woman. “Her fight is with me!,” he yelled. Diane didn’t bring Jack here for a fight. She wanted to apologize. Allie confronted Diane about lying to her, coming into Keemo’s house with a fake name, acting like a guardian angel. “My father died, and you waited to exploit him and me,” Allie cried. Jack said everything Diane did was for Diane’s benefit. He said there was no forgiveness and no understanding.

Diane admitted she made mistakes, but she said she’d changed. Jack yelled that everything Diane did she did on purpose. At least when Diane was dead, he knew she couldn’t hurt anyone ever again. He said now she was dragging his granddaughter into this. Diane explained that she reached out to Allie for Jack and gave him back a piece of Keemo. Allie was disgusted Diane handed her over like some kind of prize. Diane saw it as a gift to Allie and to Jack. Allie thought Diane was evil, and she didn’t want to be involved in this. She was going to leave. Diane didn’t want Allie to take this out on Jack. Allie looked back at Jack, then she left. Jack called Diane poison, and he left too.

Allie and Jack went back to the outdoor cafe. He thanked her for agreeing to meet him. She swore she had no idea who Diane was, or what she wanted. Taylor – Diane had just seemed like this kind woman who bought Keemo’s house. Allie never thought of herself as dumb, or naive. Jack didn’t want Allie to let this shake her self confidence – Diane had conned people older and supposedly wiser than Allie. Allie asked what Jack meant when he said he thought Diane was dead. Jack said there was a memorial service, with her young son grieving in the front pew. People who knew the truth about Diane had tried to find something kind to say for her son’s sake. Allie thought that it was awful for Diane to turn her back on her own son and walk away. She asked how Jack knew Diane. “The child she walked away from was our son,” Jack revealed.

Allie was stunned Diane was Jack’s wife. Jack clarified that he and Diane were never married. He said the situation was complicated, but he considered Kyle one of the greatest gifts of his life. It had been hard on Jack to see Kyle grieving and struggling. Allie asked when this happened. Jack said Kyle was a child at the time, and now he was a man with a wife and son. Jack said a wound like that never went away, though. Allie understood. She digested the fact that Kyle spent all these years thinking his mother was dead. Jack said Kyle thought his mother had been the victim of a gruesome murder. Jack said all Diane’s lies had been exposed after her “death,” and people Kyle cared about were implicated, and it was all a lie. Jack continually told Kyle that Diane loved him more than anything. Jack wondered what kind of mother let her child suffer like that. Jack was so sorry Allie got dragged into all this. Allie didn’t understand what Diane thought would happen. She said Diane pretended to die and abandoned her son. Allie wondered why Diane decided to come back now. Jack guessed Diane thought she could manipulate her way into forgiveness. Jack was sure that no one in Genoa City would ever forgive or forget what happened. Jack told Allie that getting to know her was a blessing, and he didn’t want anything to get in the way.

Back at the house, Diane looked upset. She texted Jack and asked him to come back, because there was more to say.

Jack received the text and told Allie about it. She asked what he was going to do. He wanted to ignore the text and pretend Diane didn’t exist, but he guessed it was too late for that.

Recap written by Christine

Sharon and Rey were at Crimson Lights. She was trying not to get into Noah’s business, but she couldn’t help notice the string of late nights he’d had. Nick had said Noah was doing well at work though. Rey thought Noah was just having fun. Rey wished he’d had more opportunities to let loose when he was that age. He didn’t regret the road he took because it lead him to Sharon. Sharon was concerned Noah was partying to avoid his emotions over the girl in London and Tessa. Rey thought Noah was smart and resilient, and he was just going out with friends. Sharon noted that Noah was with a different attractive female almost every night.

Noah woke up alone. There was a note from the woman he’d spent the night with saying she’d had fun, but she had to leave for her shift at the Club. He smiled, then he looked depressed, and he balled up the note and threw it on the floor.

Noah went to Crimson Lights, and Rey teased that Noah must’ve gotten dressed in the dark since he missed a button on his shirt. Sharon went to Noah to ask how he was, and he said he met up with a friend. She asked if it was one of the ladies she’d met, and he said no. He preemptively told her he was fine and that she didn’t need to worry about him. Sharon wanted to know the real reason Noah stopped by. He said he just came for the free food, and she replied that moms loved to feed their kids. He asked how she was. She told him about some minor things that happened at work.

Tessa and Mariah took a seat on the patio, and Noah brought them some pastries. Mariah gave Noah points for knowing his sister’s favorite. Tessa said he knew his future sister-in-law’s favorite too. Mariah and Tessa grinned about being fiancees. Noah had some ideas for the wedding, and he hoped they liked it. He handed over his tablet. Mariah gasped. She thought Noah’s designs were amazing, and she felt lucky to have such a talented brother. Tessa said she was lucky to have such a talented future brother in law. He asked if they liked one in particular. Mariah, Tessa and Noah all had the same favorite. Mariah stepped inside, and Noah told Tessa that they could make changes if she wanted. She said they liked it the way it was. He said it wasn’t perfect, and she said they didn’t need perfect. Tessa sensed Noah was holding something in. He kept changing the subject to the wedding, until she asked him point blank what was going on with him. She said she knew him too well, and the fact that he was avoiding talking about himself made her even more concerned. He admitted he didn’t really know what was going on with him or what he was even doing anymore.

Inside the coffeehouse, Sharon asked Mariah how Noah seemed to her. Sharon said Noah was blowing her off when she tried to have a heart to heart with him. Mariah thought it was natural that Sharon’s grown son didn’t want to tell her everything. Mariah thought Noah seemed fine.

At the Chancellor mansion, Ashley admired her sleeping grandson, then she asked how Chance and Abby were doing. Chance said therapy was helping, and the next part of his journey was going back to work. Ashley asked if Chance didn’t want more time to process things. He said that getting back to normal was the next step. Abby had been taken aback when Chance made this decision, but she supported him, and she hoped Ashley would too. Chance said his therapist suggested this. Ashley said she was on board too. Ashley was going to the spa, and she asked Abby to come. Abby had to watch Dom while Chance met with Rey. Chance pointed out that Louise would be back soon, so Abby decided to head out with her mom. Ashley and Abby went to the foyer, where Ashley revealed that Keemo died, and he had a daughter.

After Abby and Ashley left, Rey went to Chance’s and learned that he wanted to come back to work. Rey asked if Chance talked to the therapist. Chance explained that Dr. Huffman said it’d help his recovery. As a friend and partner, Rey saw how overwhelmed Chance was the last time he tried to return. He asked if Chance believed he was ready this time. “I have to be ready,” Chance replied. Chance promised he wouldn’t freeze again. Rey asked how Chance could be sure. Chance said he wasn’t the same man he was in that alley. He’d done the work in therapy. He’d faced the trauma, and now he could go back to work with his eyes wide open. He didn’t need to go on stakeouts or anything volatile. He wanted to ease his way into work. Rey said that wasn’t his call. Chance knew. Chance needed to be a detective again, and he wouldn’t ask Rey to trust him if he wasn’t sure he wouldn’t let Rey down. “Alright, let’s take it up to the chief,” Rey said.

Jack was at an outdoor cafe in LA. Phyllis called to see how he was. He was a little nervous about meeting Allie. His granddaughter arrived, so he ended the call. He was understanding when she admitted she almost canceled. He didn’t want to pressure her, but he wanted to get to know her, and he was hoping that spending a little time together might be good for all of them. Allie said she sold Keemo’s house to a nice woman. Jack thought that must’ve been hard. She said it was, but the house wasn’t home without her dad. She’d been busy studying. He asked what she was getting a degree in. Chemical engineering. Jack grinned and said that years ago, her dad worked with her aunt Ashley as a chemist in the lab. Allie misunderstood Jack’s point. She got defensive and insisted that she wasn’t going to hit Jack up for a job when she graduated. She was adamant that she wasn’t seeking anything from him.

Allie swore she didn’t know anything about Jack or his business before they met. She reminded him that he was the one who sought her out. He interjected that he wasn’t accusing her of anything. He was just touched that she was following in her father’s footsteps by studying in a field that held a prominent place in their family’s legacy and in the company her great grandfather created. Allie was embarrassed about the misunderstanding and said she wanted to hide under the table. Jack joked that if she did that, he’d have to join her, and there wasn’t room under the table for both of them. That made her laugh.

Allie had been thinking about what happened between Jack and her dad. She understood why her dad felt betrayed that Jack didn’t tell him his mother was dying. Jack said he’d probably do it differently if he could do it all over again. At the time, he thought he was honoring Luan’s wishes. He never stopped wanting to repair things with Keemo. Jack thought he probably tried too hard to repair things with Keemo, early on, then he’d backed off when Keemo made it clear he wanted nothing to do with him. Jack regretted letting years go by without reaching out again. Jack foolishly thought he’d have all the time in the world to repair things with Keemo. He didn’t know about the letters Keemo wrote or that Keemo had forgiven him. Jack didn’t make excuses, and he knew had to live with the mistakes he’d made. Allie felt for Jack. Jack found comfort in knowing Keemo lived on in Allie.

Jack asked Allie how she was doing. She said it’d been hard. Jack said his emotions were all over the place – sometimes he was so sad he didn’t think he’d recover, then the next he was angry he and Keemo never got a chance to repair things. He asked if she ever felt anything like that, and she said yes. He mentioned that he lost his mother a year and a half ago. Allie said that meant Jack had his mom a lot longer than Allie had her dad. Jack said it was complex, and he and his mom weren’t as close as Keemo and Allie. Allie brusquely said she loved her dad more than anyone in the world. Jack apologized. Allie said this stuff was hard to talk about, and she and Jack didn’t really know each other. She had to go. Allie suggested she and Jack meet up again before he left town, and he happily agreed.

Ashley and Abby went to The Grand Phoenix. Phyllis greeted them. Ashley said she had concerns about Allie. Phyllis noted that Allie was Ashley’s great niece. Ashley wasn’t ready to welcome Allie into the family. Ashley thought it was suspicious that a long lost daughter appeared out of nowhere just as Jack was mourning his son. Ashley returned because she didn’t want to see Jack get hurt. She was surprised Phyllis was encouraging Jack to pursue a relationship with Allie. “Were you thinking at all?,” she snapped.

Phyllis said Ashley didn’t know what she was talking about. She stated that Allie didn’t know who Jack was when he contacted her. Ashley thought Allie could be the mysterious texter. Phyllis said Allie didn’t strike her as a schemer. Ashley suggested Allie was a con artist scamming Jack. Ashley was thinking of calling Jack and begging him to back off. “You’re not doing that!,” Phyllis yelled. She ordered Ashley to stay out of it because she had no idea what was going on. Phyllis was adamant that she could see a schemer a mile away. Phyllis knew Ashley and Abby were going to say “takes one to know one,” so she said it first. Phyllis said there were no red flags with Allie. She said that it meant so much to Jack to connect with his son through his granddaughter. Phyllis implored Ashley to stop before she tainted this experience for Jack. Abby mediated and said they all loved Jack, so they needed to support him instead of fighting. Phyllis apologized to Ashley, who accepted. Abby told Ashley they needed to go to their spa appointment. Ashley said Allie was a stranger, and Jack needed to proceed with caution. Ashley was trying to protect her family. Phyllis said Jack was smart, so Ashley should trust him to do the right thing.

Ashley and Abby got back to the Chancellor mansion. Ashley was jet lagged, and she was going to go take a nap, and she’d be back later. Abby was pained to say this, but she agreed with Phyllis, not Ashley. She thought they should trust Jack to handle things. Ashley understood the point of view, even though she didn’t share that perspective. Ashley hoped things worked out, but she just had this gnawing feeling that there was trouble ahead. After Ashley left, Chance entered and told Abby that the talk with Rey went better than he could’ve hoped for. He and Rey went and talked to Paul, and Chance would return to work tomorrow morning. He asked if that was okay. Abby was expecting it to take a week or two for Chance to go back, but if he, Rey and Paul thought this was okay, she supported it. They hugged.

Phyllis and Jack talked on the phone later. He said the meeting with Allie went as well as could be expected. He thought that he and Allie really connected in the end. “See, I knew you could bond as a family if you would just give it a chance,” Phyllis said. Jack agreed, and he said apparently Allie did too, since she floated the idea of getting together again. He thanked Phyllis for encouraging him to come out here and not waiting for Allie to make the first move. She said she only wanted the best for him.

Allie went back to Keemo’s old house to drop off a house warming gift for Taylor and to thank her for the advice about family the other day. Taylor asked if Allie connected with the person she’d talked with on the phone. Taylor pretended that she needed a moment to remember Jack’s name. Allie said Jack was the grandfather she never knew existed. Taylor said this must be overwhelming, especially coming on the heels of her father’s passing. At first, Allie didn’t want anything to do with Jack, but she changed her mind after what Taylor said about family. Allie said she just saw Jack. Taylor thought it was brave of Allie to take that step. She asked if Allie was going to stay in touch. Allie was taking it slow, but Jack seemed like a good man. Taylor said grandparents tended to dote on their grandchildren, so Jack would likely do anything he could for Allie. Allie didn’t want anything from Jack; she was just curious to know more about him. Taylor didn’t mean to imply otherwise. She was just sure Jack wanted Allie to see him as someone she could rely on, as real family. Allie said they’d have to see how things played out. Allie thanked Taylor again for giving her the nudge to pursue this. Taylor was hoping to get a favor from Allie in return.

Jack met Allie at Keemo’s old house. He was surprised she wanted to meet so soon and here at the house she’d sold. Allie said that the new owner asked to meet Jack in person. Jack didn’t understand why. Allie didn’t either, but the new owner had been so nice that Allie didn’t see any harm in it. Jack asked what was going on, and Allie asked if she was wrong to agree to bring him here. At that moment, “Taylor” walked into the room and smiled, and Jack stared at her in stunned recognition. “No, it can’t be,” he said. “It’s true. I’ve waited a very long time for this moment,” “Taylor” replied.

Recap written by Christine

At Newman Locke, Victoria had just told Nikki, Victor and Nick that she was going to tell Ashland nothing had changed and that she still loved him. They didn’t understand how Victoria could say this. She said her decision wasn’t open for discussion, so they needed to back off and let her handle this in her own way. Nick asked why they should let Victoria spend one more minute with Ashland. “It’s the only way to save the company,” she stated. Victor said Ashland came here to take over Newman Enterprises. Victoria told Victor to trust her. He was not sold on trusting her with the fate of the company that he built. She asked if he was blaming her. He wanted to know her plan, so he could take over if he didn’t approve. She asked what more he could do to control the situation – she noted that he was already having her followed. Victor said that Victoria was his daughter, and he was having her followed to ensure her security, since she was married to a BS artist who cheated her and lied about cancer. Victoria didn’t believe Victor was having her followed for her own safety. She didn’t think he trusted her, and she thought he felt that she was going to put the company at risk. He was adamant that he was protecting her. Victoria didn’t want to be treated like a little girl. She snapped that she was the CEO of Newman Locke. Victor yelled that the family wasn’t going to back off. “This is my company!,” he exclaimed. Victoria vowed to protect the company and the family name. Victor wanted to know how. Nick wanted confirmation that Victoria didn’t actually still love Ashland. Victoria didn’t reply, and Victor told her to answer her brother.

Nick, do you think that maybe you could be a little less patronizing, just for one minute?,” Victoria asked. Nick just wanted Victoria to explain her plan. She didn’t think she owed them an explanation, especially since, once again, they went behind her back to uncover information that affected her life without involving her. She thought it was clear they didn’t trust her judgment. Victor said they were looking out for Victoria. Victoria said they didn’t ask for their help. Nikki said they had to act before it was too late. Victoria asked if they were afraid Ashland would take total control of the company. Nikki cared about the business, but she cared about Victoria more. Nikki wouldn’t let Victoria sacrifice herself for the company. Victor said they were Victoria’s family, and no one loved her more than they did. He asked her to stop being stubborn and listen to them. He thought they should formulate a plan to deal with Ashland as a family.

Victoria implored her family to trust her. She knew she’d made mistakes in love, but she didn’t make mistakes in business. Victor wasn’t convinced. Victoria stated that they were standing in what used to be Victor’s office, where he handed her the reins of Newman. She asked if he did that because he felt confidence in her or did he do it for empathy. She asked if he’d take that back because of a bump in the road. Nick said this was more than a bump. Victor said he’d told Victoria many times that he admired what she’d done for the company. Victoria said that she’d handle this like a business move. Victor stated that he’d trust Victoria if she could get Ashland out of the of the family and the company,. Victoria was confident that she could handle it. She thanked them all for their support, and she left. Nick didn’t like this at all, and he didn’t feel good about not knowing what Victoria was doing. “If she doesn’t have a plan, I do” Victor said.

Ashland was at Society. He was caught off guard when Abby greeted him warmly. He asked if she’d spoken to Victoria recently, and she said no. Abby had been busy, and she assumed Victoria and Ashland had been as well. Abby suggested that she, Victoria, Ashland and Chance have dinner sometime, and he said he’d love to. Abby asked if Victoria was meeting Ashland. She decided to stay and wait for her sister. Ashland tried to subtly dissuade Abby. He got a text that said “Michael Baldwin got away from us.” Abby asked if the text was from Victoria. Ashland said it was business, and he had to make a call. Abby went to the kitchen to handle some business of her own.

Ashland called someone and ordered him to find Michael. “[Michael] cannot leave Peru. Do you understand me?” Ashland said. Ashland called Victoria and left a message asking if she was still coming. When Abby returned, Ashland had his head in his hands. Abby asked if there was a problem at work. She knew how tense her dad was when there was a big deal on the table at work. Ashland said there was something major happening at work, but it’d be fine. Abby asked if Ashland’s health was okay. He said he was healthy as can be, and she called it a miracle. He asked how Dominique was. She said it was Dominic, and she showed off a picture, which Ashland admired. He asked about Chance. She said he was doing great, and he was thinking about going back to work. Ashland said work was good for the soul. Abby explained that Chance thought going to work would help with his trauma, so she supported him 100%. “Hey, it worked for you,” Abby added. Ashland didn’t know what Abby was talking about. She said going to work helped him recover, along with Victoria’s love. Abby thought she and Chance should look to him and Victoria as shining examples.

Abby noticed the time. She needed to head home, so she couldn’t stay and wait for Victoria. She was happy Ashland was feeling better, and she reminded him that they needed to go on that double date. Unbeknownst to Abby and Ashland, Victoria was standing outside watching them through the window. Abby walked away, and Ashland made a phone call. After Ashland finished his call, Victoria went inside. He told her she just missed Abby. She said she was glad, because she couldn’t deal with any more Newmans right now. He said Abby had been very friendly. He guessed it meant Abby hadn’t heard the smear campaign against him. Ashland noticed Victoria seemed tense, and he guessed Victor filled her head with more lies about him. She asked if there was more to know. He said no, he was just afraid that her family was getting to her again. She said she felt pulled in different directions. He lamented that her family had put her under all this stress. He asked what her family said about him. She said her family was on the warpath. He took her hand and asked about the status of their relationship. She told him that she knew their love was real, and she knew he wouldn’t deceive her in the way her family said. She said she was right by his side.

Ashland knew the love he and Victoria shared could withstand all attacks against them. She said they could face this together. He said he needed her love and trust to get through this. She promised he had it, but they had to be smart, because it wasn’t going to be easy to fight her family. Victoria said her father was going to use everything in his arsenal to get Ashland out of her life and out of Newman. Ashland was prepared. He hoped that she’d come home with him, so they could talk. She thought he was right earlier when he suggested they leave Genoa City so they could get away from her family. She wanted to go to Tuscany. Ashland was surprised because Victoria was against going to Tuscany a couple of days ago. She said things had changed. She thought he wanted to go. He used to, but now that things had escalated, he wasn’t sure it was a good idea. He said stepping out of the line of fire might look like an admission of guilt to Victor. She pointed out that Victor already thought he was guilty. He said it might look like an admission of defeat, which was even worse. She said that if Victor thought they were running scared, he might be more likely to show his hand. She told him to trust that this was the smart move. He loved the way she was always one step ahead of everyone, and he thought it’d be nice to be alone with her. She said he could spend time with Harrison too. He loved the idea of seeing his boy. He said he’d make the arrangements, but she assured him that she’d already handled everything. He said that was fantastic.

At Crimson Lights, Chloe tried to distract Lauren with work, but it was unsuccessful. At an earlier point in time, Kevin got news on Michael and he’d hopped on a plane to San Diego. Nobody knew what Kevin found out or why it took him to San Diego. Chloe hadn’t heard from him since last night. Lauren started crying because she assumed Kevin wasn’t calling because he had bad news that he wanted to deliver in person, instead of over the phone. Kevin arrived, and Lauren asked if he’d heard from Michael. Michael walked in after Kevin. Lauren and Michael had a happy reunion. Lauren had never been happier to see Michael. She told him not to ever leave her again, and he promised he wouldn’t. Lauren was eager to get Michael home so he could eat, shower and rest. Kevin teased that Michael definitely needed to shower. Chloe and Kevin hugged, and she said she missed him.

Michael needed to see Victor. Lauren refused to let Michael out of her sight until she got answers. She knew his going back to work for Victor was a mistake, but she didn’t think it would be this bad. She wanted to know what happened to him and who was responsible. Michael didn’t want to get into the details. Things got rough, but he was home now, and he was grateful for Kevin’s help. Lauren asked why Kevin didn’t call when he knew Michael was safe. Kevin didn’t expect to find Michael in San Diego. Lauren thought he could’ve called once he knew, instead of letting her worry all those extra hours. Chloe thought Lauren was taking out her frustration on the wrong people. Michael said Kevin only followed his instruction. This was an urgent situation, and Michael had to see Victor. Lauren didn’t understand why Michael felt obligated to Victor, when he was the one who got him into this situation. Michael said this wasn’t Victor’s fault, it was Ashland’s. Michael had to see Victor. He pinky swore to Lauren that he’d be home within an hour. He left. Lauren asked if Michael was still in danger. Kevin didn’t think so. Lauren wanted to know how Michael got to San Diego. Kevin said it was Michael’s story to tell. Kevin didn’t know the details on Peru, because Michael had been quiet. Chloe asked if Michael had been quiet like he was keeping a secret, or like he was traumatized. “Quiet like it never came up,” he replied. Lauren thanked Kevin and apologized for snapping at him earlier. She regretted letting Michael leave, and she went after him.

Chloe was angry with Kevin. He’d called her from work last night and said he had to go to San Diego, then she didn’t hear from him until he sauntered into the coffeehouse. Kevin was sorry, but he was following Michael’s instructions. Chloe knew that Kevin had information that he didn’t want to mention in front of Lauren. Kevin got a call from an unknown number claiming to be Michael. It said to get to San Diego immediately. Michael had said not to tell Chloe or Lauren. As a test, Kevin asked if he could tell Gloria. Michael had replied “sure, she won’t care.” Kevin knew it was really Michael, because only someone who knew their mother would respond that way. When Kevin got off the plane, there was another text, this one with an address of a park near the airport. Michael was there, frazzled and scared. Kevin had wanted to check into a hotel so Michael could rest, but Michael wanted to go home.

According to Kevin, Michael was on edge the whole flight, and he didn’t calm down until he saw Lauren. Chloe knew they’d been talking about wanting more excitement, like they had in their younger years, but she didn’t want anything like this. She was glad nothing happened to Kevin. He said he’d been scared, and he didn’t want to worry Chloe, but he had to help Michael. She understood. Kevin said he owed Michael, because Michael had come to his rescue so often. Kevin found it unnerving that Michael was driven to get home ASAP, to run and see Victor. Kevin said Michael wasn’t talkative on the plane, because he’d been afraid someone was listening, but he made it clear that Ashland had him detained in Peru. Chloe asked why. Kevin didn’t know, but he wasn’t going to forgive Locke any time soon.

Victor was was alone in Victoria’s office when Michael showed up. They hugged, and Victor thanked God. Michael said Victor should also thank a couple of helpful dock workers at the port of Lima. Lauren walked in and said she wanted to hear what Michael had to say to Victor. The Peruvian police had arrested Michael on trumped up cross-border espionage charges. Lauren asked if Michael wasn’t given a phone call. Michael said there was no due process, because the charges weren’t real. He was picked up by local, not federal agents. His phone and ID were taken. Victor asked how Michael got away. Michael used his charm to befriend a guard. That guard happened to have a legal issue, and Michael helped him sort it out. In return, the guard gave Michael back his passport and the name of a helpful person at the dock, then he let Michael leave the jail. Lauren asked why Michael didn’t call. For one, Michael didn’t have his phone, and he was sure Ashland was behind his arrest. He didn’t have proof though. Michael had also been concerned Ashland had tapped Lauren and Victor’s phones. Michael finagled his way onto a boat going to San Diego, then he called Kevin.

Lauren hoped the information Michael gathered was worth him being in jail and worrying her day and night. He did too. Victor said it was invaluable. Lauren was angry Michael didn’t call the minute he got to San Diego. He said if he had, she would’ve insisted on going with Kevin. He couldn’t have risked her being in danger. She asked if he really thought that was still an issue once he was back in the US. Michael said he’d learned how ruthless Ashland was. What mattered was he was home and safe with her, he said. Victor and Michael toasted to that. Michael told Lauren not to blame Victor, because Michael knew the risks when he took the job. Lauren told Victor she still blamed him. Michael asked how things were going with Locke. Victor stated that things had blown wide open, and Victoria was in the middle. Victor said they had to figure out a way to get Ashland out of the company and family.

Nick and Nikki went to Crimson Lights and talked about Victoria. Nikki was trying hard to have faith that Victoria had a good plan. Nick thought Victoria was deluded, because she was either going to put herself in a position to let Ashland worm his way back into her heart, or she would be playing with fire trying to outwit him. Nikki was worried about Victoria’s emotional well being. Victoria had doubted herself after JT, and Nikki was concerned that would happen this time. Nick didn’t understand how Victoria could make Ashland co-CEO after all the evidence they had against him. Nikki thought it showed how vulnerable Victoria must’ve been. Nick said Victoria confided in Billy about Ashland. Nick thought that was a sign that Victoria didn’t trust her family to have her back. He was also concerned that Victoria still wanted to be with Ashland and that all this stuff she said about a plan was just her way of getting her family off her back. Nikki said Victoria knew the fate of the company was in her hands, and she’d do whatever it took to save it. That was what had Nikki worried. Nick wasn’t convinced Victoria would leave Ashland. He noted that Victoria had been betrayed by so many men in her life, so maybe she was so vulnerable that she couldn’t admit yet another relationship had failed. Nick vowed to get rid of Ashland if Victoria decided to stay with him.

Recap written by Christine

At Newman Media, Nick was desperate to hear from Victoria, but Victor told him to be patient. Victor said that what Ashland had done to Victoria was traumatizing, and it’d take her time to get over it. Nikki thought it was important to give Victoria time to sort through her feelings. Nikki had hoped she’d hear from Victoria’s assistant by now though. Nick wasn’t sure Victoria would go to work. Nikki was convinced she would, since Victoria was like Victor, and work had gotten her though many heartbreaks in the past. Nick wasn’t sure Victoria could use work as a distraction, thanks to Ashland who was co-owner and co-CEO. Victor said that wouldn’t last long – they were going to cut that bastard out of their lives and family business. Nikki clarified that they would do it in a way that protected Victoria’s dignity and privacy, and Victor said of course. Victor was dismayed when his security team let him know Ashland and Victoria were together at Crimson Lights. Nick and Victor were ready to run over there, but Nikki said Victoria was in a public space, so she wasn’t in danger, and Victor’s security team had an eye on things. Nick was concerned Victoria would be vulnerable to Ashland’s manipulations. Nikki said that if they went in there like the cavalry, Victoria would resent it, and Ashland would exploit that resentment. Victor sent Nick to check on things. Nick said he wouldn’t hit Ashland, even though he wanted to.

At Crimson Lights, Ashland told Victoria he was relieved he found her. He was hoping she would come home last night so they could talk. She asked why, noting that he said he wasn’t going to try to save their marriage anymore. He regretted saying that, and he’d already sent her texts to that effect. She read them. He assumed she didn’t respond because she believed what her family was saying. She asked what he was supposed to believe, when he never gave her an explanation. He said he chose not to dignify Victoria’s family’s insulting accusations; however, he gave her something to believe in when he told her how much he loved and needed her. He was sure she could see that came straight from the hear. Billy watched Victoria and Ashland from a distance.

Victoria heard everything Ashland said yesterday, but she said the look in his eyes told a different story. She saw fear and desperation in his eyes, and she asked where that was coming from. He asked if they could go home to discuss this in private. She told him to answer the question. She said she’d never seen him run scared of her family before. He said he wasn’t running scared. He stated that her family was poisoning her against him, and there was nothing he could do to fight it until he found out who was setting him up. Victoria was skeptical of the story that Ashland was being framed. Ashland said he’d made a lot of enemies, but he couldn’t stand up to her family and friends until he had the facts to defend himself. He claimed he left because it wouldn’t be right to isolate her from the people who cared about her the most. She didn’t buy the claim that he did this for her sake. Their voices raised, and Billy could hear the dispute. Ashland said his instinct was to protect her, like always. He said he looked desperate because he’d been scared he was going to lose the woman who stood by him and fought for him, even when he thought he had nothing to fight for. He said he couldn’t ask her to go to war with her entire family. “So you’re saying that I’m the problem because of my lack of faith in you,” she replied. He said he didn’t blame her for being influenced by her family’s doubts. She countered that this had nothing to do with her being influenced, and he apologized for the poor choice of words. He knew better than anyone what a strong-willed independent person she was, but he said this so called evidence against him would be too much for anyone to ignore. He was determined to find out who set him up and to show her he was still the man who loved her with all her heart and soul. “If you lied to me about being sick, then you don’t really love me,” she quietly replied with tears in her eyes. He noted that she said “if.” He asked if there was still some part of her that loved him enough to know he’d never do that to her. From the patio, Billy noticed Victoria softening, and he willed her not to let Ashland get away with this.

Back inside, Victoria and Ashland got coffee. He thanked her for giving him this time. He was sure she’d rather be running the company. She knew she could trust her mom to handle the business. He asked if she stayed at the ranch last night. She shook her head and said she needed time to think.

Nick entered through the patio and was about to barge into Victoria and Ashland’s conversation when Billy stopped him and told him not to interrupt. Billy hoped Victoria was going to throw the hot coffee in Ashland’s face. Nick asked how much Billy knew, and he said Victoria told him everything. Billy was furious Ashland screwed Victoria over, but he wasn’t surprised. Billy figured Nick wasn’t surprised either, since they both had Ashland’s number from the beginning. Nick hoped that wasn’t what Billy said to Victoria. Billy said it was close. Nick assumed that didn’t go over well. Billy stated that Victoria admitted he and Nick were right, and she was mad at herself. Nick thought Victoria should be mad at Ashland. “She is, believe me she is, or she was,” Billy replied. Billy had assumed Victoria would smack Ashland, but then Ashland started giving her that pained sincere look he’d perfected. Billy had thought Victoria would see through it by now.

Back inside, Ashland told Victoria he’d been up all night thinking of the terrible mistake he made. He would understand if she couldn’t get past her doubts and he’d respect her wishes. He said if there was the slightest chance she could wait for him to clear his name, that would be a miracle. She thought everything was going to work out. He looked hopeful. She said she had to deal with her family. He wanted to go too, but she said no – she told him they’d meet later at Society. they hugged, and Nick and Billy were not happy about what they were witnessing.

Meanwhile, at Newman Media, Nikki told Victor she had to go in to work to cover for Victoria and Ashland. Victor told Nikki that she had to keep what happened last night quiet until Ashland was out of the company. Nikki said when Victoria was ready, they’d all sit down and hammer out a strategy. Victor thought Nikki was more worried about Victoria than she was letting on. Nikki said of course she was – Ashland lied to Victoria before, but nothing like this. Nikki said they saw how devastated Victoria was. Victor thought that once the shock wore off, she’d want to get rid of the loser as much as the rest of them did. Nikki said it would take awhile – this marriage was Victoria’s dream – he’d let her think he adored her and told her everything she’d longed to hear, and now that had been shattered, along with Victoria’s sense of judgment. Nikki thought this was worse than how things ended with Billy. Nick contacted Victor about the hug. Victor and Nikki were upset, and Victor decided to go to Crimson Lights and put an end to Ashland manipulating Victoria.

Back at Crimson Lights, Ashland asked Victoria if she was sure he didn’t want him to go with her, so they could face her family together. She said if he was asking her to trust him, he had to trust her too. He said she was always right. He knew she’d been handling her family a long time, and she knew best, but his instinct was to look out for her. She said if he was there, it would just make things more tense. He said he wasn’t going to stop until he had proof. She smiled and said she knew he was relentless. He was happy to see her smiling, because he’d wondered if he’d ever see that again. He kissed her and wished her luck, then he left. Victoria’s smile faded.

Billy and Nick rushed to Victoria. “What was that?,” Billy asked. She asked if they’d been spying on her, and she asked if Billy called Nick. He said no. He explained that he was still here when Ashland came in, and he stayed to make sure Victoria would be okay. Nick confronted Victoria about hugging and kissing Ashland, and she said she didn’t have to explain herself. He hoped she wasn’t going to forgive that lying creep. Victoria asked why Nick couldn’t just trust her for once. She thanked Billy for listening to her earlier, then she left.

Nick asked Billy what Victoria said before Ashland showed up. Billy told Nick to go talk to Victoria. Nick didn’t want to push Victoria more, because that could backfire. He asked if Victoria made excuses for Ashland earlier. Billy said Victoria told him that Ashland lied about everything, and she didn’t make excuses. Nick was glad to hear that. Billy said he and Victoria also talked about Ashland being potentially dangerous. Billy didn’t understand how Victoria had been affectionate with Ashland after she’d said that. Nick said Ashland had all this leverage on Victoria, because he was co-owner and co-CEO of Newman Locke, so maybe it wasn’t her best move to go off on him. Victor showed up looking for Victoria. Victor wanted to talk to Nick in private. Billy said Victoria told him everything. He felt that Victor should’ve teamed up with him to top Ashland in his tracks.

Victoria went to her office, and she saw her portrait, the wedding gift from Ashland. She called Nikki to her office. Nikki arrived, and Victoria asked how the staff meeting went. It was fine. Nikki just told everyone that Victoria and Ashland couldn’t make it. Nikki noticed Victoria looked tired. Victoria said she didn’t sleep well. She was sorry she didn’t respond to Nikki’s texts last night – she’d turned the phone off because she needed some time to herself. Victoria asked where Victor was. Nikki said he went looking for Victoria. Victoria knew he was having her followed. She was pretty sure she saw someone from his security team outside her hotel, and she noted that Nick showed up at Crimson Lights when she was there. Nikki said they just wanted to make sure Victoria was alright. Victoria thought they also wanted to know she wasn’t with Ashland. Nikki said they didn’t want Ashland harassing Victoria. Victoria mentioned Ashland’s dramatic announcement that he was walking away from the marriage. “Oh, none of us put much stock in that,” Nikki said. “Well, you were right,” Victoria replied. Nikki asked if Ashland admitted he lied about being sick. Victoria said no such luck.

Victoria asked Nikki to call Victor and Nick, so she could talk to all of them together.

Back at Crimson Lights, Victor wasn’t interested in Billy’s opinion. Billy said if Victor had been interested in Tuscany, Victoria wouldn’t be in this position. Nick didn’t think they should fight, since they all wanted the same thing – to get Victoria out of this disaster of a marriage. Victor asked what Victoria was doing in Locke’s arms. Nick didn’t know. He repeated what little Victoria said to him. Billy said he talked to Victoria earlier, and she’d been furious with Ashland. Nikki called Victor and gave him Victoria’s message. Victor and Nick started to leave, and Billy tried to go too. Victor said it was a family matter. Billy stated that his kids were part of the family, and he was going to protect their interests.

Victoria and Nikki discussed the staff meeting that Victoria missed. Nikki smiled because she knew work would be the thing that brought Victoria back. However, she said they shouldn’t pretend a major upheaval hadn’t taken place. Victoria said she wasn’t pretending, she was compartmentalizing – it was her strong suit. Nikki said no one was questioning Victoria’s strength, and she didn’t have to prove herself to anyone. Nikki said Victoria was deceived – they all were, and Ashland was the only one to blame. Nikki said the family would stand by Victoria. Victoria thought they might have different ideas about what that looked like.

Victor and Nick showed up, and Victor told Victoria they’d been worried. She admitted she gave them reason to after she ran off like that. She was sorry about that. She wanted to reassure them that she wasn’t falling apart. Victor was stunned Victoria was doing as well as she was – the last few days must’ve been horrendously difficult. Victoria ordered Victoria to stop. Nikki asked Victoria to hear Victor out. Victor thought Victoria was in shock over what Ashland did. Victoria told Victor not to patronize her. – she knew what she was doing. Nick stated that Victoria said the same thing to him after he saw her kiss Ashland. Nikki was shocked about the kiss. Victoria was only going to say this once – she was handling this as she saw fit, and they didn’t have to like it. Victor asked what Victoria was going to do. Victoria was going to meet Ashland and tell him that nothing had to change between them, and that she still loved him. Victoria’s family looked appalled.

Billy ran into Ashland at Society. billy asked how Ashland was. Ashland said everything was fantastic, and he asked how Billy was. Billy said the job at Chancellor was the best he’d ever had, and he bet that annoyed Ashland, since he tried to ruin Billy’s career. Ashland had just hoped Billy would learn a lesson and back off, and it worked. Billy said Ashland cheated and stole his way into his accomplishments in life, including his name. Billy said none of Ashland’s misdeeds stuck before, but that wouldn’t continue.

Ashland asked if Billy knew something Ashland didn’t. Billy thought Ashland’s downfall was inevitable, since you could only roll the dice so many times, before it came up snake eyes. “Said the man with the gambling problem,” Ashland replied. Billy said Ashland made a mistake marrying someone so savvy as Victoria. Ashland thought it was the smartest thing he’d ever done. Billy trusted that sooner or later, Victoria would see through Ashland.

Chance made Dominic laugh in the living room, and Abby came in and offered to make them a snack. Chance agreed and went back to playing with the baby, which made Abby smile. While Abby was in the kitchen, Chance made a block tower and knocked it down to amuse the baby. The sound of the crumbling tower triggered a flashback to the explosion in Spain. He remembered telling the therapist about being surrounded by the bodies of his team. He’d wondered why he survived and they didn’t. Abby came back and saw Chance struggling. She announced that it was snack time, and he jumped up and pretended everything was fine. He told Dom how great his mom was. She sensed that he wanted something, and she said all he had to do was ask.

Chance said he was still getting panic attacks, nightmares and disturbing thoughts. Abby said she saw him fighting through one a moment ago. He promised that these things were happening less often. She assumed he was sharing this with his therapist. He said he had, and the therapy was helping. The therapist recommended something, and he’d need Abby’s support to follow through. She offered her full support, but he had a feeling she wasn’t going to like this.

Chance’s therapist thought he should go back to work. Abby wasn’t expecting that. She asked if the therapist knew what happened when Chance was on the stakeout with Rey. Chance and the therapist talked it out and agreed that, at the time, Chance was expecting too much of himself, and now he could approach it differently. It was hard for Abby to fathom Dr. Huffman thinking Chance should put that kind of pressure on himself when he wasn’t ready. He said the doctor thought he was ready. She thought it was clear he hadn’t healed from the trauma of spain. The doctor thought that if Chance built up his confidence in certain situations, it would help him heal. He said he wouldn’t do it if she was uncomfortable with it.

Abby wanted Chance to go to work, eventually, but she didn’t understand why the doctor thought Chance should go now. Chance said he was in a better place now. Going on the stakeout with Rey was impulsive. He said there were certain pressures that had faded since the stakeout – at the time, Dominic was sick, and they didn’t know why, and they weren’t sure how sharing custody would go. He was certain Dr. Huffman knew what he was talking about. He said you ddin’t get stronger by waiting to get better, you had to do it a little at a time, like building a muscle. He knew he’d have setbacks, but he was more equipped to handle it now. He said failure was inevitable sometimes, and people made mistakes, but it didn’t have to define you. She saw that he put a lot of thought into this, and she didn’t want to be the one standing in his way. He said that wasn’t what she was doing. He knew she was concerned out of love, but he was confident this was the step he should take. “Then, so am I,” she replied. He thanked her for being the most supportive partner, and they kissed.

Things started heating up with Chance and Abby, but she pulled away because she had to go to Society and get some work done. before Abby left she heard Chance calling Rey.

Recap written by Christine

Adam and Sally spotted Ashland at Society. Sally mentioned that the temperature dropped when Ashland looked at them. Adam said things got blown open between Ashland and Victoria. Some people might see that as a reason to panic, but Adam saw opportunity. Sally went to get a table while Adam went up to Ashland. Ashland was annoyed because he’d wanted to avoid Adam. Adam suggested Ashland leave town in shame. Ashland told Adam that he wasn’t in the mood to be toyed with. Adam proposed a deal. Adam said that if Ashland walked away from Victoria and made a clean break from the company, Newman Media wouldn’t make it its mission to publish article after article on Ashland’s cancer fraud. Unfazed, Ashland made it clear he knew how to handle bad press. Adam was thinking about how this would affect Harrison. Ashland stated that Harrison was being raised by his biological father. Adam said he and Ashland knew that biology didn’t make a parent. Adam thought that Harrison was the one person Ashland really cared about. Adam knew Ashland said he’d sent Harrison away so he wouldn’t have to watch Ashland’s decline. However, Adam thought the truth was that Ashland wanted Harrison tucked away somewhere safe in case something went wrong. And now something had gone wrong. Adam knew what it was like to want to shield your kid from the sins of your past. “For me, it was just one article, and I had the Newman resources and power to mitigate the damage that it caused,” Adam said. Adam stated that those same resources would be unleashed on Ashland, and it would be relentless. Adam warned that Ashland could kiss his happy reunion with Harrison goodbye. Ashland said he didn’t respond well to threats. Adam replied that it wasn’t a threat, it was just a carefully considered offer.

Personally, Adam admired the audacity of what Ashland pulled off. Adam said lie after lie about Ashland’s past was exposed, but he was still able to get the Newmans to build his praises. “You were able to get Victor to see you as a younger version of himself,” Adam said. Adam said Ashland made Victoria think they had a love no one else could understand – it was masterful. However, as a Newman, Adam had to protect the family and the business. Ashland said he wasn’t giving up on Victoria. He got up to leave. Adam said that the articles were being fact checked right now, so Ashland should drop the false bravado. Ashland told Adam not to ever bring up his son Harrison again.

Adam went back to Sally after Ashland left. He asked how much she heard. She didn’t hear anything, but she’d gotten a sense of things from Adam and Ashland’s body language. She said the more confident Adam got that he was going to win, the more chill he looked. Adam said Sally was intelligent, observant, and she understood the game – she understood him. He revealed that Ashland had been lying about having cancer. He assumed she was wondering why. Sally had already figured it out – Ashland wanted Newman. “You’re good,” Adam said. Adam said Ashland faked an illness to rush Victoria into marriage. Sally guessed that must’ve taken a ton of planning. Adam said things about Ashland’s past kept coming up along the way, but Ashland was able to use those things to prove he was a changed man.

Adam told Sally about the talk he just had with Ashland. Adam could tell Ashland was plotting his next move. He hoped Ashland would give up and leave. “I think the stuff about his kid finding out the truth really got to him. I could tell,” Adam said. Adam thought they should make a list of reasons they shouldn’t expose Ashland. Adam said if the news came out, Newman’s leadership could look stupid. He said no one wanted to acknowledge Victoria’s unwitting complicity in this mess. He said Victoria put the family company in jeopardy. He hoped once the dust settled, Victor faced the fact that his precious daughter put everything he built at risk. Adam and Sally envisioned Adam being the next CEO. “Victoria’s in pain and we are plotting to take advantage of her downfall. Are we the worst?,” Adam said. Sally said not at all – this conversation needed to be had, and someone had to keep their eye on the ball. Sally said she and Adam would focus on the company while the rest of the Newmans focused on Victoria. She said they’d teach the competitors that they were the ones to fear and teach his family who belonged in the driver’s seat. “You are exactly what I’ve always needed,” he said. He kissed her.

Nick visited his parents at Newman Media. None of them had heard from Victoria since yesterday. Nick had been calling, but Victoria didn’t pick up. Nikki thought Victoria needed space. Victor had it on good authority that Victoria spent the night at the hotel. Victor was concerned about what Ashland would do. Nikki noted Ashland made a dramatic exit. Nick thought Ashland did that to buy time to plan his next move. Nick was concerned Victoria’s next move would be confronting Ashland. He was appalled Ashland tricked Victoria into thinking he loved her. He wished he could get Ashland out of town, and out of Victoria’s life, like he never existed. Nikki said Ashland needed to leave of his own volition, because if they forced him out, he’d just return even stronger, and if Victoria needed to confront Ashland, for closure, they had to let her. Nick said they had to be prepared for Victoria to forgive Ashland. “She couldn’t go back to him, could she?,” Nikki wondered. Victor had his doubts about Ashland from the moment he came into their lives. Victor wanted to hug Victoria and make the pain go away, but he thought Nikki was right – they had to give Victoria her own space. Victor had his people keeping an eye on Victoria at all times. Nikki hoped Victoria didn’t think they blamed her for all this. Victor said they had to figure out how to sever Ashland’s ties to the company. Nick knew that wouldn’t be easy.

Victoria flashed back to her last conversation with Ashland. He’d said he wished his love was enough for her, but it wasn’t, so he was done trying. She was on the patio of Crimson Lights looking depressed when Billy approached and asked why she looked upset. He’d just talked to the kids, so he knew they were fine. He asked if Ashland took a turn for the worse. Billy said he cared about Victoria, and he always would. She asked if that was why he felt he had to blow up her wedding and humiliate her in public. He said he was worried she was making a mistake. He noted that he deleted the video about all the things Ashland did. Victoria brought up the article on Ashland that Billy had written up. He said the article was true, and Billy was lost his credibility and his job over it. He’d hoped he was wrong about Ashland. Victoria didn’t believe that. She said Billy wanted to be right about Ashland. She bitterly congratulated him and said that he was right all along.

Victoria said that it was all a lie – the cancer, Ashland’s deep love for her, every time she told herself she was lucky to be with Ashland and all the time she spent terrified he’d die. She felt shattered. Victoria cried as Billy digested the news that Ashland lied about being sick. Victoria was angry, and she regretted all the time she directed the anger at Billy and Nick for warning her about Ashland. She’d been angry with Billy for taking something from her that she never had – this great love. She was angry at Ashland and even more angry at herself. Victoria said Ashland wanted this merger from the day he set foot in town, and he took advantage of her love and ambition – she was the weakness he exploited. Billy was adamant that Victoria wasn’t weak. He said Ashland was a parasite who let his own friend die and stole his name. Billy wished he could say he was surprised. Victoria wished she’d listened to Billy. He was so sorry, and he said she didn’t deserve this. Victoria kept thinking about the last time she saw Ashland. He told her how much he loved her, but she saw the truth in his eyes and his voice – the mask dropped, and she saw the monster he really was.

Billy wondered what this was really about – it couldn’t be about money, because Ashland had enough to buy a small country. He asked what Ashland wanted. “Not me,” Victoria mumbled. Billy called Ashland an idiot. Victoria theorized that Ashland had planned for something to happen to her, once he was in the position to take over the merged company. Billy asked if Ashland ever threatened Victoria or made her feel unsafe. She didn’t think so. Billy hated the fact that Victoria had to even consider that Ashland might be capable of getting her out of the way. He said she deserved to be happy, especially after everything Billy put her through. Victoria thought Billy was a good man, despite all his flaws. He said it took him a long time to deal with some of his more stubborn demons. She said he was doing the work to change. She said they might disagree a lot, but she knew when it really mattered, she could count on him. He said she could trust him with anything. Billy wanted to help Victoria, but she said she’d figure it out. He said she was a force to be reckoned with. She didn’t feel that way. He said she would. He was sure she’d be okay, and he’d be there for her. She said talking to him helped a lot. She asked him to keep this talk between the two of them. He said he would.

Ashland came into Crimson Lights, and Billy saw him go up to Victoria. Ashland told Victoria he’d been looking for her everywhere.

Rey ran into Chelsea at the hotel right after she finished a work meeting. He assumed it went well, based on her broad smile, and she said it was fake. “The lengths we will go to show the world we’re perfect and perky,” she said. They commented on social media influencers who didn’t have a hair out of place. They thought that was exhausting. She sid she’d rather be with someone who’d seen her at her worst – an authentic person she could be herself with. He agreed wholeheartedly.

Connor was going through a preteen stage, and Chelsea didn’t recognize him anymore. She was about to vent, then she decided not to dump all this on Rey. He said he had a while before he had to go back to the station. She asked what brought him here. He was going to buy a spa gift certificate for Faith. She was stressed because college acceptance letters were going out. He figured that if she got into her top choice, it’d be a congratulations, but if not, she could look forward to a day at the spa. Chelsea thought Rey was a great stepdad. He said he liked kids, then in a teasing tone, he told her he used to be one. One minute, Connor was hugging Chelsea and wanting to spend time with her, and the next, he acted like everything she did was wrong and embarrassing. She said Connor had his heart set on his parents getting back together, and that didn’t happen. Now Connor was saying he missed all the sports he played at boarding school. Apparently Walnut Grove wasn’t focused enough. Rey asked if Chelsea thought about sending him back to boarding school. She didn’t want to, but if that made Connor happy, how could she say no? Rey said Connor was looking to fix things, and sometimes a change felt like a solution, but often, it was just a distraction.

Chelsea asked what she should do with Connor, long term. Rey said to just listen without rushing into anything. Chelsea said for a kid that age, a few weeks felt like an eternity. Rey said Connor was acting like a kid, which he should. Rey was raised by a single mom, and he felt like he had to grow up early. Connor’s father was around, so he didn’t feel like he had to be the man of the house. Rey said Connor felt fine going back to boarding school, because he was confident Chelsea would be okay without him, and that was a compliment to her parenting. She said she was just trying to be better than Anita. He said she was doing a great job. He spent a lot of time with her and Connor, and he saw how much her son trusted her. He said Connor knew he could be himself without Chelsea judging him. Chelsea felt like she was in no position to judge anyone, given everything she’d done. Rey said Connor knew he could go to Chelsea about anything, which made him a lucky kid. Chelsea started crying.

Rey apologized for upsetting Chelsea, but she said they were happy tears. She told him that he said all the right things. She often felt like she was failing Connor, and Rey made her feel better. Rey said Connor was happy and healthy because of Chelsea. He told her she was doing a great job. “You were just what I needed today,” she said. She hoped to return the favor. He didn’t consider this a favor – he enjoyed talking to her and found her fun and unpredictable. She said she trusted him, and he was easy to be around.

Recap written by Christine

Jack was at home. He flashed back to Allie suggesting they have coffee if he was ever in LA in the future. Phyllis wanted to be brutally honest with Jack now that they were alone. Jack would expect nothing less. Phyllis knew Traci had good intentions, but Phyllis said sometimes the Miss Manner’s approach wasn’t the best one, and you had to throw caution to the wind. Phyllis saw the pain in Allie’s eyes, and she thought that if Jack wanted to help his granddaughter, he should reach out. Jack agreed that it was up to him to make the first move, not Allie. Phyllis thought they should take the Jabot jet back to LA today. Jack wanted more than anything to bring Allie into the family, but he didn’t want to scare her off. Phyllis said they could concoct a story to get Allie to Genoa City – they could tell Allie that Jack found some of Keemo’s belongings. Jack didn’t want build a relationship with Allie on a lie. He thought he’d just follow Allie’s lead and take her up on the offer to have coffee in LA. Jabot had business in California, so he could go to LA. He said he’d call Allie and tell her he’d be in LA for a day or two and see if she was willing to meet. Phyllis thought that was a solid plan.

Allie met with Taylor Jensen, the Diane Jenkins lookalike who was buying Keemo’s house. Allie wanted to know why Taylor wanted to meet in person. Taylor said she just wanted to meet the previous owner and find out why someone would want to sell such a nice home. Allie explained that she had an apartment near her school, and her dad, who used to live there, passed away. Taylor asked if Allie had other family. Just then, Allie got a phone call from Jack. “Jack. Hi,” Allie said. Allie didn’t notice the way Taylor perked up when she heard Jack’s name. Jack said he had some business in California and he asked if they could get dinner. Allie wasn’t sure she was ready to meet so soon. He said he’d be out in a day or two, so that would give her time to think about it. The call ended.

Taylor asked Allie if everything was okay. Allie said it was fine – just some family issues. Taylor could relate – she’d been hurt many times, but it was important to have family. “Take it from someone who has survived more than you can imagine, you have less time than you think to make amends, and regret is a hard thing to live with once it’s too late to connect,” Taylor stated. Taylor said family was the most precious thing we had in this world. She wished she had more relatives she could turn to. Taylor was sorry for being so open, like they were old friends. Allie found it kind of comforting to hear this, because Taylor seemed like she understood. Taylor was no stranger to loss, and losing a parent was one of the hardest blows life dealt. Taylor suggested that Allie should meet with this Jack, and lean on her family. Allie asked why Taylor thought Jack was her relative. Taylor noted that Allie said the call was about family issues. Allie said things were complicated. Taylor said all families were, but if this family member was someone Allie could lean on, wasn’t that what she needed?

Phyllis and Jack were at Society, and he thought it was obvious she coerced him to come here as a distraction. Phyllis changed topics and said Summer told her Harrison knew more Italian than Summer. Jack was proud of his little grandson. Phyllis added that Summer found someone to replace Phyllis at Marchetti. Jack said no one could replace Phyllis. He asked if she regretted not taking the job. She was glad she stayed in Genoa City, because if she’d left, she wouldn’t have been able to go on the trip with him to LA. He was glad she went with him. He told her again how grateful he was, and she repeated that she didn’t need thanks.

Back in LA, Allie told Taylor about some quirks of the house, like a wonky faucet. Allie was going to show Taylor how to work it, but Taylor said she needed a moment alone to respond to a text. Taylor was revealed to be the anonymous texter. She sent Jack a response. “Doing what I can to help. I think Allie might be more receptive soon.”

Jack and Phyllis were back at the hotel. He’d read the latest text, and Phyllis was on edge because she didn’t know why the texter was hellbent on staying anonymous. Jack wanted Phyllis to take it easy. He saw the text as a step in the right direction. Phyllis was suspicious of the texter. She didn’t understand why this person had a vested interest in helping Jack. Jack wasn’t going to question the texer’s motives – he wouldn’t know he had a granddaughter if this man or woman didn’t text him and tell him to come to California. Phyllis could tell from the tone of the texts that it was a woman. Jack didn’t want to pry and tick the texter off, because then she might stop helping him with Allie. Phyllis thought the texter was in LA. She said she could put a tracker on all the phone towers in the city. Jack did not want to expose the texter’s identity. His concern was Allie.

Allie and Taylor were back in the living room after looking at the faucet. Allie asked when Taylor would move in. Taylor wasn’t sure. She had a few family issues of her own to deal with, and that would determine her next move. Allie was curious. Taylor stated that this house was kind of a safety net for her. Taylor told Allie not to ever underestimate the importance of having a place to land. Taylor offered Allie some kind parting words and encouraged her to reach out to the people who cared about her. Allie said thanks and left Taylor in her new home. On the porch, Allie called Jack and accepted his invitation to coffee. Taylor was listening at the door, and she looked happy.

Chelsea and Nate were at the penthouse she just moved out of. He was glad to hear she was starting a new fashion line. She felt a little uncomfortable being back here, but she understood why he wanted to meet in this location. He was considering moving back in. Her other buyer fell through, so she was appreciated Nate being willing to buy an apartment from a former poisoner. Nate said Chelsea owned up to what she did, and Rey didn’t hold it against her, so Nate wouldn’t either, even though Rey was a former patient. Chelsea said Nate was pretty special. Devon was walking through, and he popped in because he heard Nate. Chelsea left. Nate explained that his house had a lot of problems, and the contractor was constantly there doing repairs. So he was thinking of moving. He knew Devon had been upset he’d sold the penthouse, which he’d inherited from Neil. Devon was over that. He asked if the move had anything to do with that bad judgment call Nate mentioned earlier. Nate said there could be consequences down the road, but he had to move forward with his life. Devon was there if Nate wanted to talk. Nate didn’t want to drag Devon into it. Nate asked if there was really a place for him at this merged company.

When Billy got home, Lily excitedly said she had news, and she wanted him to guess it. He guessed a bunch of silly ideas, and she groaned that he wasn’t trying. He just wanted to know the news so he could kiss her and celebrate. She said the first episode of his podcast got overwhelmingly good feedback. He thought she and Traci were the only ones who listened. Lily clarified that a lot of people downloaded it. She showed him the download data, and he was surprised. She said clearly his honesty about trying to get over the pain of losing his daughter struck a chord. There were a few negative reviews, but that was to be expected. He hoped the podcast could help someone. Lily thought Billy should capitalize on this and post episode 2. he wasn’t sure he had anything else to say.

Billy said a lot of his pent up pain went away after the first podcast. He asked what else he had to say. Lily thought Billy had so much more to share – he kept her fascinated. She said the had many more stories to share – the good, the bad, lessons learned. She told him not to give up so easily. She thought that the podcast had a positive effect on him – he was in a better mood, more focused at work, and more energized. She’d love more of this good thing. She kissed him. Devon and Nate showed up.

Devon wanted to talk about how the merger would work and about where Nate would fit into it. Lily thought she had a plan they could all agree on. Lily said that Chancellor Winters needed a two fold focus. The entertainment and media division would stay under Hamilton Winters. Chancellor would cover merchandise, commercial real estate like hotels, and venues. Devon approved. He thought it was a corporate match made in heaven. Billy said Lily was the most brilliant CEO he knew. Lily said Devon could handle the entertainment side, and she’d handle merchandise and hospitality divisions. She said they’d interact and share resources, but maintain autonomy. Devon loved that, but he said he’d be open to her opinions. Devon asked how Jill and the rest of the board would feel about this. Lily already got Jill’s approval, and Jill thought he board would support it too. Lily asked Nate how he felt about being part of all of this. He was ready for a clean slate, but he asked where he’d fit in this. “Want to be my COO?,” Devon asked. Nate thought Devon had too much faith in his business skills. Devon said Nate studied business and ran the entire surgical department, and he was already on the board at Hamilton Winters. Nate wasn’t sure about this, but Devon and Lily both thought Nate would do great.

Elena was at Society, on the phone with a contractor about the house, and it wasn’t going well. She got a text from Nate saying he had a surprise. Elena met Nate at Chelsea’s old penthouse, and he told her that, if she wanted to, they could move back into this building. He said they had great neighbors, and it’d be easy to do family dinners with Devon and Amanda across the hall. Nate asked if Elena didn’t want to move in. He understood if it was too awkward for her to live across the hall from the apartment she once shared with Devon. Elena said she’d been working on rebuilding her friendships with Devon and Amanda. Nate said he spoke to Devon, who said he’d love to be neighbors. Nate said Elena needed to feel comfortable in her own home, so if shse didn’t like it, they wouldn’t live here. She loved the idea of living here, putting the construction nightmare behind them, and get on with living their lives together. Elena asked Nate if he really wanted this or if it had something to do with what was going on. He was determined to move past the Ashland situation, and this was part of it. He wanted a clean slate, and this could be what he needed to hit the reset button. It felt right to reclaim an inheritance he never should’ve given up in the first place. She asked what the second surprise was, and he told her he was the COO.

Lily and Billy were home alone. She was excited things were coming together. All the family she had in Genoa City would be working together. She knew Billy had taken that for granted and rebelled against it, because he’d always had Jabot in his life. This meant a lot for her. Billy said if his siblings were easy to get along with, like Devon and Nate, he may never have left the business. She said that her family had difficult moments. Billy said her family handled things like adults, while his family was petty and stubborn. Lily said she’d ask Billy to draw on his Jabot experience when the disagreements turned personal. He said he’d always be on her side, because he loved her, and because, after working together, he realized she was always right. She thanked him for having so much faith in her. They kissed.

Devon went home and looked at Neil’s picture. Devon had a feeling Neil had a big hand in making this merger happen. He said the family was finally coming together the way Neil always dreamed.

Recap written by Christine

Billy walked into Crimson Lights and overheard Traci ordering all of Jack’s favorites. He teased her about spoiling their brother, and she noted that Billy never minded when she was spoiling him. Billy mentioned that he was going to visit Jack later, and Traci was glad because Jack was dying to talk to Billy about LA. Billy asked what was going on. Traci said it was Jack’s story to tell, but he’d found some intriguing information about Keemo’s life, and she hoped it would help Jack heal. Traci heard the first episode of Billy’s podcast, and she found it very compelling. He wondered if she was just saying this because she was biased. She admitted she was biased, but she still thought it was moving, and brave and straight from the heart. He said it wasn’t easy to put it out there, but it felt good to get a positive response, especially from someone he admired so much. He gave her half the credit because she told him about meditation. She heard him say that in the podcast. He realized she really was listening. She said he’d been reading her books for her for years, so the least she could do was return the favor. Meditation helped Billy relax and let the feelings bubble to the surface; it felt good, even if Traci was the only one listening.

Phyllis visited Jack at his place. She asked if he’d heard from the texter. He hadn’t. Phyllis thought it was strange that the texter said they were going to see what they could do, then they didn’t say anything else. She thought he seemed to be handling it well, but he clarified that he was stressed and preoccupied by this. Jack surmised that the texter was connected to Allie, or they had the means to reach out to her. Phyllis thought the text implied more than that – it implied that this person was going to get Allie to accept Jack as a grandfather. Jack thought Phyllis was reading a lot into the text. Jack tracked down the contact information for Mai, Keemo’s half sister, and asked if she was sending the texts. It wasn’t her. Mai was living in Saigon, and she didn’t talk to Allie often.

Phyllis thought it was weird that the texter wanted to stay anonymous. Jack asked if Phyllis thought it was a mistake letting the texter serve as an intermediary between him and Allie. Phyllis said there was nothing Jack could do now, because the texter was already doing that. Jack said he could reach out to Allie himself, but he didn’t want to be pushy. He’d understand if Allie was leery of him. Phyllis said Jack was a good kind man, and this was the best thing to ever happen to Allie. Billy and Traci arrived. Traci said she didn’t realize Phyllis would be there. Jack explained that Phyllis was helping him figure out how to approach Allie, and Billy asked who that was.

Billy thought it was incredible that Jack had a granddaughter. He asked when she was coming to visit the Abbotts. Jack said the ball was in her court. Billy was confused Jack was being so hands-off. Phyllis said that it sounded like Allie wasn’t close to her mom, so she was alone in the world. Jack didn’t want to make the same mistake he made with Keemo. He realized now that he pushed too hard when Keemo was still grieving for his mom, and the relationship never recovered. Billy said that was a different situation. He thought that, if Phyllis was right, Allie could use support, and it’d be a mistake not to reach out. Jack looked at Phyllis. She encouraged him to contact Allie. Traci thought Jack was wise to be cautious and give Allie time to sort things out. Billy said Allie needed support, and no one was more supportive than Jack. Traci agreed with that but she said Jack was grieving too. Traci also thought Jack wanted to reach out to Allie partially to learn more about Keemo. Jack said that was true. Phyllis thought Allie needed someone to talk to Keemo about, so she could keep his spirit alive. Jack said that if Allie wanted that, she could contact him. He didn’t think it was fair to pressure Allie into making him feel better when she was still in so much pain. Traci told Jack that he could reach out to Allie next week, or next month, but if he pushed too hard now, and it backfired, he wouldn’t be able to fix it. Billy said none of this would matter if the mystery texter convinced Allie to reach out to Jack. Phyllis didn’t think they should rely on the kindness of strangers. Jack said maybe he had to hope for the best, and maybe one day he’d get to thank this person, whoever it was.

Allie was at Keemo’s house with a real estate agent, Tanya. Allie was glad Tanya already found a buyer for the house – one willing to pay more than the asking price. Allie spent most of her life in this house, and it was hard to say goodbye. Tanya understood, but she said Allie was lucky because this was a cash offer, so it’d be uncomplicated. The buyer had one condition – she insisted on meeting Allie. Tanya stepped outside to get some paperwork. Allie tearfully told Keemo that this house was home to her – she felt safe here. However, now she knew that it wasn’t the house that made her feel safe and loved, it was Keemo. The place didn’t feel the same without him in it. “Without you, I don’t really have a home anymore.”

Allie asked Keemo if she’d have one-sided conversations with him for the rest of her life, or if this was a stage of grief that she’d move past. She kind of regretted coming to the house. She didn’t want to remember their house this way. She wanted to remember it the way it was before. Tanya returned, and Allie said she had a thing to do, and she needed to do. Tanya reminded Allie that the buyer wanted to meet, and she was already outside. The buyer walked in, and she introduced herself to Allie as Taylor Jensen. However, the lady looked exactly like the supposedly deceased Diane Jenkins.

Ashland ran into Nate at Society. He called Nate a friend and got a cold stare in return. Ashland hoped he and Nate could repair their relationship after the truth came out. Nate said he and Ashland were never friends – Ashland just used Nate while conning Victoria and her family. Ashland said that wasn’t true. Nate said it seemed that Ashland didn’t take his advice to come clean. Ashland said he was framed, and he was going to use his resources to find out who was responsible and make them pay. Nate revealed that he’d already taken the evidence to the Newmans. Ashland was mad that Nate didn’t warn him in advance. Nate countered that Ashland hadn’t been upfront with him. Nate said the last thing he wanted to do was help Ashland get away with this. Ashland denied trying to get away with anything. Nate didn’t want to hear anything else from Ashland. Elena walked in. It made Nate sick that Ashland used him to give this scam more credibility. Elena asked what was going on. Ashland said it was a misunderstanding. Elena said it was an elaborate scheme, and she was disgusted with Ashland’s behavior. Ashland had somewhere to be. He left.

Elena had never seen Nate so angry. He was angry with Ashland and with himself. Elena didn’t think Nate should feel bad about believing Ashland was sick. Nate said Billy saw through Ashland. Before the wedding, Billy told them that Victoria was making a mistake. Elena said Billy also hired a team of investigative reporters to look into Ashland’s past, so he had more information than she and Nate did. Nate said the article Billy published on Ashland should’ve been a clue, but they dismissed it because the source recanted. Nate said he should’ve been more skeptical. Elena said that what mattered was that Nate did the right thing when it counted. He thought she was uncomfortable with him looking into Ashland’s medial records. Elena conceded that she had qualms with Nate’s methods, but she said he took a stance when he found the truth. She thought most people in Nate’s position would’ve covered for Ashland to protect themselves, but Nate exposed Ashland to the Newmans. Nate said Ashland clearly thought he could buy Nate off with flattery, donations to the hospital and a job offer. Nate felt insulted. Elena said Ashland was more wrong about Nate than Nate was about Ashland.

Elena put a positive spin on things and said Nate discovered the truth before he quit his job and signed a contract with Ashland. Nate said Ashland could come after him. Elena thought that the Newmans would have Nate’s back, and she added that he had a job waiting for him with Lily and Devon. Nate recalled Victor saying he’d look out for Nate. He felt lucky, and the more he thought about it, the less he was concerned for himself – the person he was worried for the most was Victoria. Elena wasn’t sure how Victoria would trust anyone ever again after learning the person she thought was her soulmate was deceiving her. Nate revealed that when he first came to town, Victoria was recovering from a physically abusive relationship. He said letting Ashland into her heart was a leap of faith, and now this. Elena didn’t blame Victoria for thinking Ashland adored her. Elena had been moved by Ashland’s vows in Tuscany. Elena was disgusted by Ashland, but she did wonder if he had real feelings for Victoria. Nate said that anyone who could lie to Victoria like that, knowing her history, was incapable of love.

At Newman Locke, Victoria felt ambushed when Victor and her brothers joined her and her Nikki. She said this was obviously a coordinated attack on her marriage. Nick said there was new information Victoria wanted to know. Victoria felt like everyone wanted to browbeat her into seeing things her way. “To hell with all of you!,” she yelled as she strode toward the door. Victor insisted Victoria listen to what they had to say. Victoria reminded Victor that she was not a child. He apologized for his harsh tone, and he said they were all here to support and help her through this challenge. He said she was a strong woman. She agreed, and she said she was strong enough to cut them out of her life. Nikki was sure Victoria didn’t mean that. Victoria said it was a last resort, but that seemed to be the only way to make it clear that she wouldn’t be bullied. Adam told Victoria she was being unfair to her parents. She told him to shut up. She added that she couldn’t remember him even remotely supporting her. Adam said they all had a vested interest in this, and they wanted to handle it privately. Victoria asked if Adam was threatening to take this to the press and publicly smear her husband. Victor told Victoria that they were being polite with her, so he asked her to watch her tone. He said Ashland lied to them all and took advantage of their compassion and their big hearts. Victoria accused Victor of trying to get control of the company. Nick asked if Victoria thought Victor would really put her through this just to take control of the company. Victoria thought that made more sense than their assertion that Ashland didn’t love her and never did.

Nikki clarified that they didn’t say Ashland didn’t love Victoria. Victoria felt that they were saying that, and she also thought they were saying she was too much of a dimwit to see Ashland was using her. Nikki denied that they were questioning Victoria’s intelligence. Victoria said this conversation was disrespectful. Victoria asked how they could say that Victor wouldn’t ever intentionally break her heart, when he had her arrested on her wedding day. Victor said that was ancient history, and he added that he was right about Billy, and she knew it. Nick asked if Victoria thought he had an ulterior motive. Victoria didn’t think Nick did, but she said he’d been upfront about disliking Ashland from the start. She said all of them had a reason to want Ashland out of the picture. Nikki said she had no reason to want Ashland gone.

Nikki said she was Victoria’s biggest ally, personally and professionally. She helped plan the wedding and had been very supportive of Victoria and Ashland. Victoria remembered. Nikki had been so thrilled to see Victoria happy and in love. Nikki held her breath when Ashland had to go in for tests, because she’d been praying Victoria and Ashland would have more time together. Victoria acknowledged Nikki had always supported her and Ashland. Victoria said that Victor convinced Nikki that Ashland had deceived Victoria. Nikki said the evidence against Ashland was overwhelming. Victoria dismissed the shaky video of a doctor with an outlandish story, and the bank statements as circumstantial at best. Nick pointed out that Michael had disappeared. Victoria thought that was awful, but it had nothing to do with Ashland. Victor said they had evidence beyond a shadow of a doubt, not from some obscure doctor in Peru, but from someone they all trusted. Nick said he went to Nate for help, and Nate, who’d wanted to trust his friend, looked at Ashland’s medical records.

Victor revealed that Nate didn’t see any cancer on Ashland’s scans. Victoria said Nate just missed the cancer, since he wasn’t an oncologist. She pointed out that Ashland got chemotherapy for months. Nick said Nate looked into that too, and there was no record of Ashland getting chemotherapy. Victoria burst out laughing and said everyone else was out of their mind. She drove Ashland to the hospital herself. Nikki pointed out that Victoria never went into the hospital with Ashland. Victoria kept making excuses – maybe someone hacked the hospital records. Victoria said she’d find answers on her own without all of them. She said she and Ashland were leaving for Tuscany today, and she’d run the company on her own without any of them.

Victoria rushed toward the door, and Adam got in front of her and said she wasn’t going anywhere. Victoria said she’d heard them out, and she heard what Nate said (she was also disgusted they’d dragged Nate into this). She said they were trying to drive a wedge between Ashalnd and everyone who cared about him, but it wasn’t going to work. Adam could relate to Victoria, because last year, he was deceived by someone he loved, who was also faking a medical condition. Victoria scoffed about comparing her husband to Chelsea, the con artist. She said Ashland was a billionaire who built a company from the ground up, while Chelsea had been conning people her whole life. Nick added that Ashland had been lying about his identity his entire adult life, and he built his fortune on a fraudulent inheritance. Victoria still wasn’t on board with the comparison.

Adam said he never could’ve believed Chelsea would do that to him, but when he looked at all the angles, he realized there was only one person who could be framing him for poisoning Rey. Adam had felt guilty for even thinking Chelsea did it, but one day, she slipped up, and he realized she was playing him. Adam said that one day that would happen to Victoria, if she went back to Ashland, because not even the best con artist could keep up the charade every second of every day. Ashland walked in, and Victoria told him she was just leaving. Victor thought Victoria had wanted to give Ashland a chance to explain himself. She said she and Ashland were going to handle this in private. Nikki asked if Victoria thought they wouldn’t be fair, or if she was worried Ashland wouldn’t have a good explanation. Victoria told Ashland about the scans.

Ashland chided Victoria’s family for trying to break up her marriage, and hurting her. Victor asked if Ashland had an explanation for what Nate found. Ashland said it didn’t matter what he said, because Victor didn’t want to believe him. “I want to believe you,” Victoria said. Ashland told Victoria that her family had Nate rattled. Ashland didn’t think it mattered what he said today, because the Newmans would just come up with another attack, and another, and another, as long as he and Victoria were together. “I can’t keep fighting endlessly, and you can’t turn your back on your family. I wish it was enough for you to know that I love you with all my heart. Because your love means everything to me. You have changed my life,” Ashland said. He pointed to Victoria’s family and said this was never going to work, so he was done trying. He left. Nikki went to Victoria and hugged her. “Now I know that it’s true,” Victoria said. She began to hyperventilate and say that Ashland was lying. Victoria sobbed on Nikki’s shoulder.

Recap written by Christine

Victor summoned Nick to Newman Media and thanked him for reaching out to Nate. Victor revealed that Nate pulled the medical records from Ashland’s heart attack and saw that there was no sign of cancer in the x-rays. Ashland never received chemotherapy at Memorial. Nick said there was a special place in hell for Ashland after manipulating Victoria like this. Victor said, since Ashland refused to do the decent thing and leave town, it was imperative that Victor and Nick show Victoria the evidence. Nick hoped Victoria booted Victoria out of her life and the company. Nick called in reinforcements, and Nikki and Adam arrived. They all talked about Ashland’s deception. Victor was glad they were all on the same page now. Adam said once he heard what Nate said, it was a no-brainer. Nick said Victoria was resistant to the idea that Ashland was lying. Nick felt that the family only had one move left, and it would take all of them to pull it off.

Nick laid out his plan. Adam liked it, but he didn’t think it’d work. Nikki was worried Victoria would never forgive them, whether the plan was successful or not. Victor said their priority had to be getting Ashland out of Victoria’s life. Adam didn’t think Victoria would trust them over Ashland. Adam added that Ashland already signed the contract making him co-CEO, so this could be too little, too late. Nick snapped that he didn’t care about the company; he only cared about his sister, and he thought Adam should feel the same way. “Well, of course, but…,” Adam started saying. Nick interrupted and said that if Ashland’s plan was to get control of Newman Locke, Victoria could just be an obstacle that he wanted to get rid of by any means necessary.

Horrified, Nikki asked if Nick actually thought Ashland would eliminate Victoria. Nick didn’t want to believe Ashland was capable of something like that, but they couldn’t take anything for granted. Adam said that Ashland left his best friend to die and stole his identity. Adam doubted the story that there was nothing Bobby DeFranco could’ve done that night to save the real Ashland Locke. Victor was adamant that he wouldn’t let Ashland harm one hair on Victoria’s head. Nikki said Victoria would need them when this was all over. Victor said they’d all be there. Nick asked if Adam and Nikki were in. They were both fully on board.

Victoria went to work, and Ashland was already there. She kissed him hello. He said he was surprised when he came downstairs this morning and she wasn’t home. She said she had some errands to run. He added that he’d felt her tossing and turning in bed all night. “Heavy is the head that wears the crown,” she replied. He said they were partners, so whatever was bothering her was bothering him. She said she was furious with her father for setting this in motion. She was concerned word would get out that he supposedly faked his cancer. He had a plan to make sure that didn’t happen.

Ashland proposed he and Victoria go to the Palazzo in Tuscany, then go to Milan to spend a couple weeks with Harrison. She wasn’t sure about doing that now. He thought it was the perfect time – it would give him a distraction-free environment to investigate these claims against him. She didn’t want anyone to think they were in hiding or running. He was wondering if her father planted more doubt in her mind than she was willing to admit. “You swore to me that none of that was true. So I’m sure you know how I would react if I learned that you lied to me again,” Victoria replied. He knew their marriage wouldn’t survive that. She said he’d have to be both foolish and desperate to think he could keep her in the dark about that, and they’d be able to move past it. He took great pride in being neither of those things. Victoria said Ashland was brilliant and he knew her very well, so he knew she had a great capacity for forgiveness, but there were some lines that couldn’t be crossed. He sensed she thought he was about to break down and make a confession. She told him that if he needed to confess, now was the time.

Ashland had something earth-shattering to confess – he loved Victoria more than anything in his entire life, and he wanted to spend the rest of his life making her happy. He saw in her eyes that she was torn between his love for her and her fidelity to her family. She was so sorry. He said she had nothing to apologize for. He knew her family was pressuring her. He thought the best way for her to shut out the family’s constant interference was to go away together. He said they needed time to focus, and he couldn’t think of a better place than Tuscany, where he first pledged his love and life to her, and she’d said “love transcends all.” She remembered that well. He wanted to go today. Nikki burst in crying and saying she needed to talk to Victoria alone about a private matter.

Nikki told Ashland she’d appreciate it if he gave them some space. Victoria felt her mother was being rude and dismissive. She said she and Ashland were partners, just like Nikki and Victor, so anything Nikki had to say could be said to both of them. “Victoria, if you think you I think I share everything with your father, you are sorely mistaken,” Nikki stated. She said that she needed a moment with her daughter. Ashland said that if Victoria wanted him to stay, he was going to stay. Nikki decided to stop being polite, and she ordered Ashland to leave. Ashland told Nikki that she was disrespecting Victoria and him. He knew why she wanted him to leave. Nikki told Ashland that not everything was about him. Nikki cried that this was a private family matter. Nikki lied and said she and Victor had a terrible fight. Threats were made, and Nikki and Victor said things that they couldn’t take back. Nikki didn’t know where else to turn. Victoria was so sorry. She told Ashland that she needed to talk to her mom alone. He asked if she was sure. Victoria said it would only take a few minutes – her mother was the strongest woman she knew, and she wanted to be there for her. Ashland loved that Victoria’s first instinct was to help Nikki, even though Nikki caused her so much consternation. Ashland wished Nikki the best and said she was fortunate to have such a loving and caring daughter. Nikki said thanks and turned away. While no one could see her, she texted Nick.

Meanwhile, at Newman Media, Nick bristled at Adam’s contention that they needed a fallback plan in case this one failed. Nick sensed Adam already had something in mind. Adam said he floated an idea yesterday, but Victor shot it down. Adam asked if the board could nullify Ashland’s contract, and Victoria’s. Victor said the merger made that difficult. Adam didn’t think it was impossible. Victor made it clear that they would not fire Victoria under any circumstances. Nick said there was no basis for firing Victoria. Adam didn’t agree – he thought it was incompetent for Victoria to let the proverbial fox into the hen house. Nick refused to let Adam make a play for Victoria’s job. Adam thought they could all agree that Victoria made a colossal error, but he said it didn’t mean he was coming for the CEO job. Nick thought Adam’s history proved otherwise. Adam said he had a vested interest in the company because he actually worked here, unlike Nick, and they couldn’t pause work because of a family crisis – someone had to keep their eye on the ball. Victor told his sons to stop arguing. He said they’d deal with any damage that may have been done to the company later – their sister was the priority right now.

Lauren walked into the office, and Adam said it was a private meeting. Lauren refused to leave. She asked if Victor heard anything from Michael. He said he got a package from Michael yesterday. Lauren said that could’ve been mailed days ago. She knew he had people searching for Michael. He asked where she heard that, and she said it didn’t matter. She thought that Victor should’ve shared that with her. She wanted to know everything. He admitted he lost contact with Michael. She was glad she’d gone to Kevin for help. She filed a missing person’s report with the GCPD, and they’d contacted the Peruvian authorities. He told her to forget about the police. He had his best people on this. He said to trust him. “Like Michael did?,” she shot back. Lauren might have trusted Victor if he’d told her all this up front. He said he didn’t want to alarm her. He’d thought they would’ve found Michael more quickly than this. Lauren noted that Victor didn’t say anything after Michael wasn’t found. She didn’t even know why Michael was in South America. She assumed that Nick and Adam knew more about this than she did.

Nick and Adam offered some platitudes about Michael, which only frustrated Lauren because she wanted someone to just tell her what was going on. Vitor said he wanted to keep this private, and he couldn’t tell Lauren what was going on. He was sorry what should’ve been a routine trip turned dangerous, but he promised he’d remedy the situation. Nick got a text from Nikki saying “Now. Quickly.” Nick said he and Adam had to go deal with that situation. Victor said he’d join them shortly. They left. Lauren asked if that had something to do with Michael. Victor said it did, in a way. He said Michael was on an important mission. He promised to do everything in his power to bring Michael back safely.

Back at Newman Locke, Victoria was gentle with Nikki. Despite what Nikki said earlier, Victoria found it hard to believe that this fight with Victor wasn’t about Ashland. Victoria hoped Nikki told Victor that he needed to stop making these accusations toward Ashland. Nikki said there was no doubt in her mind that Victor was right to investigate Ashland. Victoria was furious when she realized Nikki lied and there was no fight. Nikki grabbed Victoria by the shoulders and said Ashland had been using her. Nick, Adam and Victor walked in. Nick said they weren’t leaving until Victoria had seen all the evidence.

Nate and Elena were at Crimson Lights. She wanted to split a pastry, but he didn’t have an appetite. He was feeling conflicted. He’d never violated someone’s medical privacy before. Not only did he access the records of someone who was never his patient, but he shared that information with a third party. Elena asked if Nate regretted what he’d done. He said he’d do the same thing all over again, but he couldn’t stop thinking about what would happen to him. Nate was worried Ashland would ruin his reputation. Elena thought Ashland had bigger fish to fry. She said if Ashland tried to come for Nate, he’d have to expose his own deception. She thought that people would be on Nate’s side if his role in this came out. Elena said Ashland used Nate. Nate couldn’t believe he wasn’t a better judge of character. Elena noted that she’d been taken in by Ashland too. She said Ashland was shameless, and someone should make him pay. “If I hadn’t taken an oath to do no harm, he would be right at the top of my to-do list,” Elena said. Nate smiled and thanked Elena for being outraged on his behalf. Nate was mad at himself for being duped by Ashland. He couldn’t believe he’d been Ashland’s best man. Elena said Ashland even fooled Victoria, who spent nearly every hour of the day with him. Nate wondered how he let Ashland have so much influence over him. Ashland got Nate thinking about changing his entire career path. Nate almost began to work for a man who had no qualms about manipulating him.

Lily and Devon walked in and overheard Nate lamenting that his career plans were up in the air, and he didn’t know what he was going to do. Lily and Devon noted that they both offered Nate jobs at their companies, and he’d turned them down to work with Ashland. Lily asked what happened. Nate and Elena kept it vague, just saying that working with Ashland wasn’t the best fit. Lily asked if this had anything to do with the concerns she raised about the family dynamics and constantly shifting alliances. Nate said that played a part in it. Lily said she and Devon had an offer for Nate. She confirmed with Devon that he was okay with this. Nae asked what was going on. Lily and Devon stressed that this conversation was top secret, then they revealed the plans to do a merger. Lily said she and Devon weren’t just focused on profit – they wanted to build something they could run together, as a family, and they wanted Nate to be part of it.

Devon said the goal was to create an empire – a dynasty they could leave behind for Moses, Mattie, Charlie, Dominic and any other future relatives. Lily asked Nate to imagine what Neil would say about all this. She said this would be their ancestors’ wildest dreams. Nate was flattered, but he didn’t know where he’d fit into this. Lily said Nate was bright, he brought a lot to the table, and they loved him. Nate had to think about it. Devon asked Elena how she felt. She loved the idea, but she thought Nate had to make up his own mind. Lily was gearing up to make another push when Nate cut her off and snapped that he applauded the enthusiasm, but he wasn’t sure this was the right move for him.

Nate apologized for blowing up. Devon sarcastically apologized for offering Nate a cool job. Lily said she and Devon shouldn’t have bombarded Nate. She asked what was going on with him. Nate said he just made a bad judgment call, and he needed time to regroup. Devon asked if Nate wanted to go for a run to clear his head. Lily offered support too, and Elena said they were all here for Nate. Nate just had to take care of some things. Lily said the offer didn’t expire. Nate said thanks, and he left. Devon and Lily asked what was going on. It wasn’t Elena’s place to say. She just assured Devon and Lily that their cousin was going to be okay. She loved that they invited him into the legacy they were creating, because he’d need something to latch onto.

Recap written by Christine

At the condo, Billy recorded his podcast. He thought that sometimes you held onto something so desperately that you drained the joy out of the thing you wanted the most. He believed that he’d found something to help. By closing his eyes and simply breathing, he was able to allow the thing he wanted most in his life to arrive. He touted meditation and said it helped him get into a mindset to do the podcast. He vowed to put it all out there and enjoy the ride. He said his amazing sister gave him the idea for this new approach, and she was right, as always. He was just beginning to dabble in meditation, but so far, so good. He said he’d had a blessed life, but he’d also struggled. He hoped that this could help one person, or better yet, they could collectively help each other.

Billy promised his audience the good, the bad and everything in between. He thought he’d start with a story about a little girl whose death changed everything forever. It changed his life, and it was a cautionary tale that got worse before it got better. He wasn’t sure he’d ever fully heal, and he wasn’t sure he’d want to, because he didn’t want to lose the memory of his daughter. He said Delia’s memory hadn’t been serving him the way it should. He said he had to love, honor and celebrate her without letting the grief and pain drive him. The story’s end wasn’t happy, because Delia was gone, but it was filled with beautiful memories. Even with the pain, he was grateful and lucky to know Delia, even if their time together was short. Billy built walls of hatred around his heart when he lost his daughter. The walls were aimed at the person who caused Delia’s death. Now he realized that was a way of avoiding his loss and his guilt. When the guilt erupted, he acted out in scary, troubling ways. At one point, his mind actually splintered. He was lucky enough to have the love of a good friend and therapy that helped him put his life back together. Eventually, something amazing happened, and it saved him – love.

Jack and Phyllis were back at her hotel after their trip to LA. She wanted to do a deeper dive into the person behind the texts. He couldn’t focus on that right now. He said he couldn’t have gotten through this trip without her. She wished she’d gotten the chance to know Allie a little better. Jack was still hopeful.

Later, Jack came home and brought Keemo’s belongings inside. He poured a drink and looked at Allie’s photo. He received another text. “You left too soon. You should’ve given her more time,” it said. He replied asking the texter to identify themselves. Traci came downstairs. Jack had some stuff to tell the whole family, but he wanted to run it by Traci first.

Jack read the letters from Keemo to Traci, and it moved her to tears. She wished she’d been there when he found them. He said Phyllis had been there, and she’d been strong and a good friend. He wished he’d reached out to Keemo one last time. Traci didn’t want Jack to blame himself. She said a relationship was a two way street. His brain knew that, but his heart hurt. His emotions were all over the place. She thought that was understandable. She said his mind was trying to make sense of something nonsensical. He wondered how she always knew the right thing to say. Traci was shocked and delighted to hear that she had a great niece, and Jack had a granddaughter. She was eager for the details. He showed her a photo of Allie. Traci asked if Allie was sending him the texts. Jack said that Keemo never told Allie about him. Traci wanted to meet the new Abbott. Jack wanted it to happen, but he said it wouldn’t be right away.

Jack stated that Allie proposed getting together for coffee the next time they were in LA. He didn’t think much would come of it though, since Allie’s first instinct had been to run for the hills and forget they ever met. He said Allie was just as shocked by his existence as he was by hers, and he wouldn’t blame her if she wanted to forget they ever met. He didn’t blame Allie if she decided not to know him. Traci found the whole situation heartbreaking. Jack wasn’t giving up on Allie. He was convinced that he could bond with his granddaughter. He said he had to find some way to let her know the Abbott’s door was always open to her.

Traci didn’t want Jack to set himself up to be disappointed. He told her not to worry – he was aware this might not work out, but maybe it could. He saw Allie was bright and resourceful, and she needed family. Traci asked about Allie’s mother. Jack said the mother/daughter relationship was rocky. When he looked at Allie, he saw someone alone, afraid and sad. Traci know Allie wasn’t the only one who was sad. She admired the way Jack handled this. Traci admitted she’d had reservations about the trip, but she was glad he went and found Allie, and she was also glad he was back home. Traci knew the rest of the family would want to know. Jack thought it was too late at night for a call right now. He was going to go for a drive to clear his head. Jack hugged Traci and said he loved her. He couldn’t believe his son was gone, but he was determined not to let that happen to his granddaughter.

Amanda and Phyllis were at the hotel. Phyllis said it felt great to emotionally support Jack, when he was usually doing that for her. Amanda asked if any romantic feelings surfaced in LA. Phyllis said it wasn’t like that. Phyllis said what happened with Jack in California was heavy – he dealt with the loss of his son and all the other stuff. Amanda was sorry for making light of the situation by asking if it the trip turned romantic. Phyllis said she and Jack weren’t in a romantic mindset. Amanda knew Jack appreciated Phyllis being there for him. She said Phyllis was that rare person who’d drop everything and fly across the country if someone needed them. Phyllis was happy to be there for Jack. Amanda thought Phyllis and Jack’s relationship reached a new level, even if it wasn’t romantic. Phyllis agreed.

Allie went back to Keemo’s house in LA and talked to her father’s spirit. She wept and said she couldn’t believe he was really gone. She wasn’t sure what to do without him. She was confused and she wanted a sign from Keemo. When things got rough, or she needed to talk, she always went to her dad, and now she didn’t have anyone, or at least, no one like him. She said that her mom was a million miles away, and busy with her own life. Allie knew her mother would never change. Allie said Keemo was gone, now Jack had shown up, and she wasn’t sure she could trust him. She didn’t want to disgrace Keemo’s memory by doing something he wouldn’t approve of. “If you cut him out of your life, then shouldn’t I do the same?,” she asked.

Jill video chatted with Devon, who was at the penthouse. She asked why he was throwing away the chance of a lifetime. He assumed she was talking about the idea to merge Hamilton Winters and Chancellor Industries. Jill said the companies would be unstoppable together – look what the Newman/Locke merger did for those two companies. Devon was still considering it, but first he thought Hamilton Winters and Chancellor Industries should focus on their first joint venture and see how that went. Jill thought it was a mistake to wait. She told him to think about what Katherine or Neil would do. Devon thought they’d weigh the idea carefully. Jill felt that the proposal was written in the stars. She thought Katherine would love it if Devon was involved in running Chancellor. Devon knew Neil would love it if his kids were working together. Jill added that Devon was the third parent of her great grandson. “How much more family can we get?,” she said, with a laugh.

Devon called Lily over to the house and let her know about Jill’s call. He was thinking about the merger, and he loved the idea of honoring family. He’d need to see a very detailed proposal, though. Lily already had one written up. Devon said he didn’t want the merger to cause conflict between him and Lily. He said they’d seen how business could come between relatives. Lily said she and Devon had been through so much together, since their teen years, that no corporate friction could sever their bond. She said she’d step down as CEO if it ever seemed like it’d come between her and Devon. He said that if anything went bad, he’d step down as CEO too. He was ready to do this merger and make Neil and Katherine proud. Lily was thrilled.

Lily went home and told Billy that, while a lot of work and negotiations had to happen, she thought the merger was a go. Billy shared that meditation was working out well for him. He just finished his first podcast, and it felt good. He wasn’t sure anyone would listen, but it was cathartic. She wanted to hear it. He said she featured in it. He told her he’d never tire of felling her she saved his life.

Amanda went home and got smothered in kisses from Devon. She wondered if she was that irresistible. He said yes, and he also had news. He told her about the merger. She hoped Lily didn’t push him into this. He assured her the decision was his. She said she was ecstatic, then. She knew the deal would be complicated, but potentially groundbreaking. She noted that she and Devon would be working together. He hadn’t been this happy in a really long time. He said this was going to change their lives, and Lily’s life, and their two families’ legacies would never be the same again.

Jack’s drive took him to Phyllis’s hotel. He thanked her again. She said she was happy to do it. Her kindness, friendship and loyalty meant the world to him. He got a text, and Phyllis asked what it said.

Allie was asleep on the couch when an unidentified person entered the room, casting a shadow over her. She woke up, looking frightened, but nobody was there anymore.

Traci listened to Billy’s podcast and seemed impressed.

As Billy talked about love, in a voice-over, scenes of Amanda with Devon, Billy with Lily, and Jack with Phyllis played.

Jack silently handed his phone to Phyllis, so she could see the recent conversation between him and he mystery person. As Phyllis read the texts, Billy said he was a big believer in fourth and fifth chances coming to you when you least expected it.

Texter: “You left too soon. You should have given her more time.”

Jack: “Please tell me who you are.”

Texter: “Don’t lose hope. Let me see what I can do.”

Recap written by Christine

Nate and Ashland were at Society. Nate had looked at Ashland’s scans, and there was no sign of cancer. He felt obligated to tell the Newmans. Ashland said Nate wasn’t a radiologist. Nate added that there was no record of Ashland getting chemotherapy in Genoa City. In a dark tone, Ashland warned Nate to think long and hard before he did anything rash. Nate asked if that was a threat. Ashland wasn’t threatening Nate; he just thought Nate should think through the ramifications. Ashland asked if Nate wanted to risk his friendship with Victoria by hurting her this way. Nate said he wasn’t going to be the one hurting her. Ashland was saddened that Nate was buying into the smear campaign. Nate said this wasn’t a smear campaign, it was worse. He was disgusted by what Ashland did, and he couldn’t believe he’d once called Ashland a friend. Ashland said they were still friends. Nate thought that Ashland had been conning him the whole time. Ashland denied it. Ashland said he’d never offer a job to someone he didn’t believe in – the business meant too much to him to do that.

Nate accused Ashland of faking cancer so he could take the Newmans’ company. Ashland maintained that he was being framed. Nate didn’t buy it. Ashland said Victoria loved him, and she wouldn’t believe this lie coming from Victor, or Nate. Nate said that Ashland couldn’t talk his way out of this with the Newmans. “You were never sick, and Victor’s not the one to be manipulated,” Nate said. Ashland said when he proved his innocence, Nate would wish he’d never doubted him. Ashland started to leave. Nate got up and stood face to face with Ashland. He said it was time for Ashland to come clean. “If you don’t tell them, I will,” Nate said.

Ashland left. Later, Elena arrived, and Nate told her everything. She was appalled Ashland faked cancer. Nate was questioning his judgment since he’d thought Ashland was a friend. She wished he’d come to her sooner, so he didn’t have to deal with this alone. He didn’t believe it at first, that’s why he looked into Ashland’s medical records. Elena thought Ashland was pure evil. Nate said Ashland made a few veiled threats to him. Nate kept going over this whole thing and trying to figure out what happened. He wished he could believe Ashland was set up. Elena said it was hard to believe Ashland was so warm and generous to them, while tricking everyone. Nate said it was all an act. “Who better to be his allies than two doctors. If he could fool us, he could fool anyone,” Nate said. Elena said Ashland took a risk because Nate had access to his files. She knew it must’ve been difficult for Nate to cross that line. Nate felt he had no choice. He said he owed it to Victoria and the Newmans to tell them the truth.

Nate asked why he didn’t see this coming. All the time he spent with Ashland, and he should’ve realized something was off. He realized now that he was actually coaching Ashland into accurately portraying cancer. He wondered why he took Ashland at his word. Elena said Nate was only Ashland’s friend, not his doctor – so he had no reason to question Ashland’s diagnosis or double check the test results. Nate said he was too trusting – a billionaire who barely knew him asked him to be his best man and offered him a job. Nate felt he should’ve noticed something was off. Elena said she wouldn’t let Nate beat himself up. She wouldn’t tell him what to do, but if it were her, she’d take everything she knew to Victoria. That was his initial plan, but he hated to be the bearer of the news that would crush Victoria. Nate was also worried about what Ashland would do, given that he was vicious enough to fake cancer.

At Newman Media, Victor couldn’t believe Adam was blaming Victoria for this mess. Adam said Victoria let this shark in, and she continued to defend him, even in the face of overwhelming evidence. Victor said that Ashland deceived all of them, and they’d all been fooled by love at one time or another. Victor reminded Adam that he’d been involved with a woman who accused him of attempted murder. Adam said the difference was he walked away from Chelsea when he found out what she did, and she was never a threat to the family business. Victor said they all had compassion for Adam during that ordeal, including Victoria. Victor wanted Adam to extend his sister the same courtesy. Adam thought Victoria deserved better than Ashland, but since she couldn’t see it, they might all suffer for her blind loyalty. Sally was listening outside the door, and she left. Victor said they all had things they could accuse each other of. He told Adam to stop pointing fingers at Victoria.

Adam gave up and said they could debate Victoria’s culpability in this mess another time. He said they needed a plan B to oust Ashland. Victor noted that he’d already told Adam he sent Nick to talk to Victoria. Adam didn’t have faith in that plan, since Victoria didn’t listen the last time Nick raised concerns about Ashland. Adam had a plan. Victor was interested. Adam thought they should leak the story to the press that Ashland faked his illness to take over Newman Locke. Adam said it was a win win – Victoria wouldn’t blame any of the Newmans for pushing Ashland out of the company or her life, and the negative press would drive Ashland away.

Victor didn’t like Adam’s idea, because he was worried about what the negative press would do to Victoria’s self esteem. Adam countered that Victoria was barely fazed by the bad press Ashland already received. Victor said Victoria wasn’t mentioned in those articles. Adam thought Victor was underestimating Victoria. Victor asked if Adam forgot the hit Victoria took to her self confidence after her experience with JT. Victor said it took her a long time for Victoria to trust her judgment again, and that was why he’d tried to keep this thing with Ashland away from her. Adam said it was too late to keep this from Victoria, and she didn’t care what Ashland had done. Victor said Victoria was in denial, and she would come to accept the truth. Adam suggested there was a way for Victoria to come out unscathed. Victor didn’t think that was possible. Victor said once the story was out, reporters would do their own investigation, and the company and the family would be embarrassed when people found out Ashland was able to deceive them. Most importantly, Victor said, Victoria would never forgive the family if she found out they were responsible for leaking the story. “I guess murder is out of the question,” Adam said. “Funny,” Victor dryly replied. Adam said it was a bad joke. Victor hoped Nick could get through to Victoria.

Victoria was near tears as she talked to Nick in her office. She said she didn’t know what to believe anymore. Nick asked if something came to light that made her change her mind. Victoria was wary of confiding in Nick, because she’d made the mistake of doing that before, and he betrayed her. He said he was just here to listen. She asked why she’d give him more ammunition to criticize her husband. He promised he was just here to love and support her. She said he’d outwardly and repeatedly said he hated her husband. He could see she was struggling. He could relate to wanting to ignore all the evidence that the person you loved had betrayed you. He understood that she might have to deal with this on her own. He said she could tell him as little or as much as she wanted. He was just here to listen.

Victoria was sure Victor told Nick about the theory that Ashland made up a massive lie to gain control of Newman Locke. Nick saw the video of the doctor in Peru. He asked what Victoria made of it. She said Ashland told her it was a disgruntled employee. Nick stated that he wanted to hear what Victoria thought, not what Ashland said. Victoria hadn’t concluded much. If Victor was right, Ashland didn’t love her, and she didn’t want to entertain that. She said Ashland claimed he was being slandered, but he’d had yet to indicate he was close to uncovering who was behind it. She said he just kept making this outlandish suggestion that Victor was responsible. Victoria thought it seemed like a juvenile counter-punch for Ashland to blame Victor.

Earlier today, Victor showed Victoria physical proof of money being paid to the Peruvian doctors from one of Ashland’s small divisions. Victoria sensed that Nick already knew about this. Nick said it didn’t matter what he knew or what he thought. He told her that it only mattered what she thought. She hated to admit it, but Michael’s latest evidence gave her pause. It was damning and it was extremely hard to explain it away. She was scared. Nick tensed up and asked if Ashland threatened Victoria. Victoria said Ashland had been gentle and loving, and that was why she was scared to let herself believe he could do this to her. Nick understood that, but he said that Victoria could damage herself if she buried this – it could give her a deep rooted doubt that could eat away at her. “Maybe I’m protecting myself, because if this is true…,” Victoria said. Nick encouraged Victoria to finish her thought. “Ugh, you Newmans are relentless,” Ashland said, as he appeared in the open doorway.

Ashland knew he should’ve expected Nick would be the next person to jump on the bandwagon to turn Victoria against him. Nick said the Newmans were relentless when it came to protecting their own. Nick wasn’t here because of Ashland – he was here because he loved Victoria and wouldn’t allow anyone to hurt her. He said to call if she needed him, then he left. Ashland thought Nick’s glare and demeanor cast doubt on his claim that he was there to give friendly support to his sister. Victoria looked dejected, and Ashland asked if she was okay. She silently hugged him. Nick was in the hallway, and he saw the embrace. Victor called Nick. Nick quietly brought Victor up to speed on his talk with Victoria. Nick was afraid that Ashland’s interruption had erased all the progress Nick had made getting Victoria to consider the truth. Nick ended the call.

Back at Newman Media, Adam commented on the audacity of Ashland to blame Victor for framing him. Victor said Ashland would stop at nothing – he even convinced Victoria to make him co-CEO. Adam was taken aback, and he asked when that happened. Victor said the papers were signed yesterday. Adam asked why he wasn’t informed. Victor had a lot of things to deal with. Adam said that they were all dealing with this, as a family, and as the CEO of Newman Media, he should’ve been the first to know, not Nick. Victor had to tell Nick to convince him to go talk to Victoria. Adam didn’t understand why Victor was so calm. Victor said it’d all blow over, and the Newmans would come out ahead. Adam thought Victor’s confidence was rather curious. Adam asked a question that had been gnawing at him – “Are the accusations against Ashland legitimate?” Victor asked why Adam suddenly doubted this. Adam just thought Ashland’s claim that Victor wanted to get control of Newman Locke had weight. Nate showed up and said he had the smoking gun Victor was looking for. Adam and Victor stood up.

At Crimson Lights on the patio, Chelsea told Lauren and Chloe that the business trip was a success. She made some valuable connections in NY, which made her optimistic that she and Chloe might be able to get their line out earlier than anticipated. Chloe asked if Lauren would be willing to put her marketing resources behind them. Lauren admitted she didn’t hear a word of the discussion. Chloe asked if there was word about Michael. Lauren had promised Kevin she wouldn’t file a missing person’s report until tomorrow, but she wasn’t sure she could wait. She was convinced something was wrong.

Lauren returned after making a call. She said Kevin was going to file a missing person’s report, and Rey was going to reach out to law enforcement in Peru. Chloe and Chelsea offered words of support. Lauren wished she’d listened to her first instinct to talk Michael out of working for Victor. Chelsea didn’t think Lauren should blame herself, because she never could’ve predicted this. Lauren said she actually did predict that working for Victor would be trouble. She felt like she should go to Peru. Chloe didn’t think that was a good idea, since Lauren had no idea where to go or where to look. Lauren couldn’t bear just sitting here pretending everything was okay and talking about work. Chloe said they could talk about how resourceful and clever Michael was. Chloe and Chelsea knew from experience how great Michael was at successfully arguing any case. Lauren agreed that he had a silver tongue. Chloe said Kevin always complain that he’d never win an argument with his brother. Lauren laughed and said it was one of Michael’s worst qualities – he never admitted he was wrong. She shared a story about how Michael ate the last piece of cake, then launched a counter argument so effective that he had her half convinced that she ate it.

Sally went to Crimson Lights and ordered a big cup of strong coffee. Sharon asked how the job was going. Sally griped about getting left out of closed door meetings, even though she was COO. Sally wanted to buy Sharon a coffee and get her thoughts on Adam. Sharon was curious where this was going. Sally just wanted to be the best most supportive COO Adam could hope for. She wanted Sharon’s thoughts on how Adam’s mind worked. Sharon surmised that Sally needed help navigating the Newman dynamics. Sally sensed Sharon knew Adam better than most, and she knew Sharon had history with the Newmans. Sharon had conditions – she told Sally not to expect her to praise or badmouth Adam, and she wasn’t going to reveal anything about her personal relationship with him.

Sally wasn’t trying to dig into Adam’s past. She just wanted to find more ways to support him. She really liked him, and she thought he was special. Too few people seemed to see it, but Sally thought Sharon did. Sharon agreed that she was one of the few people who’d seen Adam’s good side. She’d defended him, sometimes to her detriment. Supporting Adam wasn’t always the popular thing to do, Sharon stated. Sally didn’t care about that – she wasn’t all that popular around here either. Sally was just talking about her working relationship with Adam. Sharon inferred that Sally and Adam had a personal relationship too. Sally said it wasn’t relevant. Sharon thought that this all made things more difficult for Sally. Sally said it didn’t. She understood people who were misunderstood, and she thought she could be an effective business partner for Adam. Sharon thought Adam must agree, since, on paper, Sally wasn’t the obvious choice for COO. Sally wasn’t having problems with the workload, but Victor had her stumped. Sharon said Victor had a lot of sway over the Newmans, but she doubted Sally would crack that code. Sally was just concerned Adam would keep focusing on pleasing his father instead of doing what was best for himself.

Sharon said that trying to solve the Newmans’ daddy issues was a fool’s errand. Many tried, and there was a long list of casualties. Sally was up for the challenge. She thought she could help Adam if she could learn the dynamics. On some level, Sharon admired Sally’s honesty and commitment to her boss. Sharon saw that Adam seemed like he was in a good place – maybe Sally had a part in that, or maybe Adam finally made peace with his father. Sally said Victor loved to keep Adam guessing. Sharon said there were two things Adam needed more than anything – his father’s love and a feeling of harmony with his father. Sally was worried Adam would never be able to find that harmony, because he didn’t see himself as Victor’s equal – he was still the son trying to impress his father. Sharon said that had been Adam’s Achilles heel from the day he came to Genoa City. Sally was trying to break him of that. Nick walked in. Sharon ended the conversation and wished Sally luck. Sally said thanks for the talk and went to the patio. Nick asked what that was about.

Sharon said Sally wanted information on the Adam/Victor dynamic. “If you figure that out, let me know too,” Nick replied. Sharon asked how things were going with Victoria. Nick thought Victoria had been close to accepting the truth about Ashland, but she couldn’t quite get there. He said Ashland had his hooks into Victoria. Sharon said if the evidence was as strong as Nick claimed, it would just be a matter of time. Sharon thought Nick had decided not to get involved. Nick realized he had to. He said if Victoria didn’t open her eyes, the family would have to come up with a way to get Ashland out of her life for good.

Sally overheard the discussion about Michael. She approached and said she knew Victor had people actively searching for Michael in Peru. Chelsea didn’t know becoming COO put Sally in the loop on non-Newman Media business. Sally said she was getting to know Victor pretty well, and he was good at harnessing his resources on things like this. Lauren thanked Sally for the information, but she said she didn’t find it reassuring. Sally thought Lauren would want to hear this. Lauren was glad Sally told her, because she now knew Victor wasn’t being truthful when he told her that Michael was fine. Now Lauren was even more worried, because she knew Victor was concerned. Lauren left to pass this news to Kevin. Sally was sorry – she was just trying to help, and she thought Lauren should know about her husband. Chelsea snapped that they’d just calmed Lauren down before Sally got involved. Chloe was sure Sally didn’t mean any harm. Chloe also agreed that Lauren needed to know Victor was looking for Michael. Sally hoped she and Chloe could be friends again, and she was sorry she and Chelsea got off on the wrong foot, but she hoped they could call a truce, now that they weren’t working together. Chelsea doubted they’d ever be best friends, but she supposed she could let bygones be bygones.

Recap written by Christine

Victor was at Crimson Lights with Nick. He said Michael sent him proof that the doctor received a lot of money from a subsidiary of Locke Communications. Nick thought that was careless on Ashland’s part. Victor said it was obvious that Ashland didn’t think Victor would investigate him. Victor revealed that Michael was missing. Victor suspected Ashland had a hand in it. Nick asked how much Victoria knew. Victor said he told Victoria everything, but Ashland tried talking his way out of it. Nick asked what they’d do if Victoria refused to believe the information in front of her.

Nick was against the marriage from the beginning, because he saw how easily Victoria was manipulated by Ashland. Nick said that Victoria had been brainwashed into thinking Ashland was the victim. Victor said Ashland convinced Victoria to make him co-CEO. Nick stated that Victoria spent years fighting for sole control of the company, then she just gave it up. Nick asked Victor what he was going to do. Victor wanted Nick to talk to Victoria, since Victor and Nikki had already failed to get through to her. Nick pointed out that Victoria cut him out for trying to talk to her about Ashland at the wedding, and their relationship never recovered. Nick didn’t know what he could do when Victoria was siding with Ashland despite all the evidence and Michael going missing. “Son I’m asking you to do it for me. For the family,” Victor said.

Adam called Victor a couple of times to see if there had been any updates from Michael, but Victor didn’t answer. Adam told Sally that he wasn’t sure if his dad was busy or icing him out again. Sally thought Adam worried way too much about what Victor did. That wasn’t the first time Adam heard that. “Face it. You are barely even on his radar. He is all about the princess,” Sally said. Adam knew Sally meant Victoria. Sally said that it could be good that Victor wasn’t focused on Newman Media right now. She reminded him that he’d said the situation could work in his favor. Adam confided that Ashland may have done something that he would be able to take advantage of. But there were no guarantees. Sally said that if things went south between Ashland and Victoria, Newman Locke could suffer, and that could create an opening. Adam smiled and called Sally Lady Macbeth.

Sally told Adam not to be melodramatic – she wasn’t suggesting he seize any thrones. He teased that becoming COO made her become drunk with power. He wanted to hear her take. She didn’t know the details on the Ashland situation, so she was flying blind, but she said Victor made it clear he was going to look out for Victoria, Ashland was going to look out for himself, and Victoria was going to protect her pride and family, with the exception of Adam. To Sally, that meant Adam had to look out for himself, with Sally backing him the whole way, and if that meant he had to step up and fill a leadership void, so be it. At that moment, Victor walked in, and he wanted time alone with his son. Sally left the room and pressed her ear to the closed door. Adam was starting to feel Victor was ignoring him. Victor said he had a lot on his mind, and it had nothing to do with Adam. He said Victoria wouldn’t listen to him. Adam assumed Victor had a plan that Adam could help with. Victor said he asked Nick to talk to Victoria. “That’s it? You’ve gotta be kidding me,” Adam replied. Adam asked if Nick was going to wave his magic wand or invoke his special sibling bond to get Victoria to turn against her husband. He said Victoria was impervious to logic right now, and she’d put the company in the hands in a ruthless shark. Adam said they knew who Ashland was all along, and Victoria failed the family.

At Newman Locke, Victoria confronted Ashland with the evidence Victor gave her. Ashland claimed it was all part of Victor’s plan to paint him as a charlatan who faked a terminal illness. Victoria said there was proof that, while Ashland was CEO of Locke Communications, a substantial amount of money was transferred from a Locke division into the pocket of the doctor who was now accusing Ashland of fabricating cancer. “Kudos to Victor. He wanted to dig up dirt on me and he found someone who was willing to accommodate him,” Ashland groused. He couldn’t wait to get his hands on the person trying to set him up. Ashland apologized for losing his temper. Victoria was as upset about this as Ashland was. She just thought they needed to redirect their energy and find a way to fix this.

Victoria said that if they found out who authorized the transfer of money from Locke Communications to the doctor in Peru, they could find out who was behind this. She said the radio division was low key, so Ashland must know who had access to it. Unless it was a hack job, this had to be someone on the inside. He blamed Victor, and Victoria ordered him not to go there. She was sure that her father would never hurt her in this way. Ashland said the Newmans had been trying to interfere in the relationship since he and Victoria met. Victoria said that was only Nicholas. Ashland suggested that Victor was doing this because he didn’t want Ashland to be co-CEO. Victoria said Victor wouldn’t go to these lengths because he disagreed with her on a business decision. Ashland kept arguing his side of things until Victoria asked him to stop fighting her on this. She asked why someone would want to frame Ashland. He said that someone wanted to hurt him in the worst way possible, by making Victoria and others think that he could do something like this. He didn’t care what everyone else thought, but he needed to know she believed him.

Victoria said she knew Ashland was innocent. He was relieved. She said they had to quickly find out who was setting him up. He refused to let this person rob him and Victoria of their happiness together. Nate texted Ashland wanting to meet. Ashland was sure Victor had turned Nate against him. Victoria suggested that Nate was going to say he was behind Ashland. Ashland felt more optimistic that Nate would be on his side. He was sure he’d get through this, with Victoria’s support. They hugged, and when he couldn’t see her face, she looked uncertain. He left. Later, Nick showed up, and Victoria asked why he had the nerve to show his face here.

Nick said that Victor asked him to come make Victoria see reason. He didn’t know how she’d react. She asked why he was bothering. He said she was his sister, and he cared about her and her happiness. She asked why he was trying to destroy her marriage, then. He sympathized with the pressure she was under. He wanted to see if there was a chance she changed her mind about Ashland. He was there for her if she needed a sounding board. Victoria softened and she said she didn’t know what to believe anymore. “It can’t be true, can it?,” she asked.

Ashland met Nate at Society. Nate was icy toward Ashland. Ashland surmised that Victor had gotten to Nate. Ashland pointed out that Nate had seen his test results, so he knew the cancer was real. Nate said it occurred to him that those results were all he had to go on, and he’d gotten them from Ashland. Nate hated the thought that someone would use a horrible disease for financial gain, or worse to deceive Victoria and her family. Nate didn’t like being used, so he dug deeper. Nate recalled Ashland saying his cancer was discovered during a chest x-ray after his heart attack. Nate went through the hospital archives and pulled the scans performed after Ashland’s hear attack. He admitted he’d crossed a line, ethically speaking. There was no cancer on those chest x-rays. Ashland kept making up excuses – Nate looked at the wrong x ray, or someone manipulated the scan in his medical file. Nate figured Ashland was going to say that, so he’d delved further into the records. He’d learned that Ashland never got chemotherapy at Memorial Hospital, or any of its affiliated centers. “You don’t have cancer. It’s all been one big colossal lie,” Nate said. Ashland said he could make one phone call and get Nate’s medical license revoked. Nate didn’t care, since he’d been planning to leave medicine anyway – to come work for Ashland. Ashland asked what Nate was going to do with this illegally obtained information. Nate felt he had no choice but to tell Victoria and Victor.

Traci was at the Abbott house. She called Jack, who was still at Keemo’s in LA. Traci had heard from Phyllis that Jack found some letters Keemo wrote. Jack said he learned Keemo forgave him, but unfortunately, Keemo was never ready to let Jack back into his life. Traci’s heart broke for Jack. He picked up his granddaughter’s photo and looked at it. Phyllis came in with coffee. Traci was glad Jack wasn’t by himself. He said Phyllis had been a rock – the best support he could ask for. Jack had a lot of life-altering things to share, but he wanted to do it in person. The siblings ended their call.

Phyllis brought food too, but Jack wasn’t hungry. Allie texted. She was sorry for how she left before. She didn’t mean to be rude, this was just a lot to take in, and she wished him safe travels back to Genoa City. Jack said his decision had been made for him – it was time to go home. Phyllis asked if he was sure. He said he wasn’t going to force Allie into a situation she couldn’t embrace, at least for now. Phyllis found something interesting about the text – neither of them told Allie they were from Genoa City, so how did she know that? Jack could think of a number of ways Allie found out.

Phyllis could only think of one way for Allie to know this, since Keemo never told her about Jack. She thought it was clear that Allie searched Jack online, which meant Allie was curious about Jack and the Abbotts. He appreciated her optimism, but he had to put Allie’s feelings first. He wanted nothing more than to have a relationship with his son’s child, but he didn’t want to do to Allie what he did to Keemo and push too hard. Phyllis acknowledged that Jack was being respectful of Allie’s feelings. Jack was going to give Allie time and space. He said it was time to go home – there was nothing left to do here. Phyllis thought that Jack had to find out who convinced him to come to LA.

Jack had enough of investigations. He needed to call Kyle, then go home. Phyllis stepped outside to give Jack privacy. Jack video chatted Kyle. Kyle asked where Jack was. Jack said he was at Keemo’s house. Kyle hadn’t heard Jack mention that name in years. He asked if they were visiting. Jack confessed that he’d been estranged from Kyle’s older brother for many years now. Jack wasn’t going to get into details now, but he said Keemo died. Kyle was sorry to hear that. Jack said Keemo had a daughter – she was lovely, bright and full of spunk, like her father. Kyle was surprised to learn he had a niece, and Harrison had a new cousin. Allie didn’t know about the Abbotts. Her world had been turned upside down, on top of losing her father. Jack wasn’t pushing her. Kyle said he was there for Jack, always. Jack appreciated that. Kyle said that was what the Abbott family did, and he was sure that, in the brief time Allie spent with Jack, she realized that.

Phyllis was back with Jack after the call ended. Jack said that Kyle never got to meet his older brother, and now he never would. Phyllis told Jack not to go down that path. Jack said Kyle tried to reassure him. Phyllis said Kyle was a good kid and tough, like his dad. Jack was touched Phyllis put her life on hold and came halfway across the country with him. Jack grabbed the box of Keemo’s things, and they were headed out the door when Allie showed up. She had a little statue that used to belong to Keemo. It was created by one of her dad’s favorite artists. She thought Jack should have it. She said that the rift between Keemo and Jack ran deep, but it was obvious to her that Jack cared about his son. She said this was something for him to hold onto – a little piece of his son. It moved Jack to tears. He said that the fact that she brought this to him was a lovely, kind and brave thing to do, and he wouldn’t forget it. Allie hadn’t changed her mind about Jack, though. She had a lot to deal with – graduate school, learning to move forward without her dad. She knew that Jack was hoping for more, but this was all she could handle and all she wanted right now. He respected that.

Jack promised Allie he’d never force a relationship on her. He recently lost his mother, so he had some idea of what she was dealing with. He thanked her for the statue and wished her well. She returned the sentiment. She suggested that they could have coffee if he ever came back to LA. He said he’d take her to dinner if she ever came to the Midwest. He told her to call if she needed anything at all. She said bye. “Until we meet again,” he replied. She left.

Recap written by Christine

Nikki stopped by Newman Media to invite Victor to lunch, but he said he couldn’t get away. She noticed he was holding an envelope like it was gold, or a bomb. He said these were the papers sent by Michael about Ashland. She said it was definitely a bomb, then. He thought Victoria deserved to see them. Nikki wanted Victor to tread carefully, so he didn’t alienate their daughter further. He didn’t want to do this, but Ashland forced his hand. He said Victoria needed to know what kind of man she married.

Victor went to Victoria’s office and told her they needed to talk. Unless Victor was here to apologize and take back the disgusting allegations he made about Ashland, Victoria had nothing to say to him. Victor wished he was wrong. He refused to leave until Victoria looked through the folder. She’d seen all she needed to see. She said he was so controlling that he’d even destroy her marriage all because another man had a say in the family business. He didn’t want to hurt her, but he was insistent that Ashland had been lying about his illness. She asked if he really thought he could blackmail Ashland with these outrageous lies and get him to leave her. Victor thought Victoria would rather be angry with him than enraged at Ashland. Victoria couldn’t stand being patronized this way. She told him to leave her office. Victor couldn’t stand by and watch Victoria be deceived any longer.

Victoria was so sick of all the men in her life saying they loved her, then hurting her. Victor wasn’t trying to cause Victoria more pain. He was trying to prevent her from suffering. It broke his heart to tell her what he’d learned about Ashland. She said he’d learned lies. He said there was an overwhelming amount of evidence. She challenged him to show her the evidence. She even reached out to Michael, and he never called her back. Victor held up the envelope and said it was here. She asked why he was going through these lengths. He said he was trying to protect her and the company. Victoria revealed that Ashland was the co-CEO now. “We signed the contracts, so it looks like you’ve lost the game,” she said.

Victor had proof of large payments that the doctor received before he disappeared. Victoria said whoever was setting Ashland up paid the doctor to make those statements. Victor had hoped he was wrong about Ashland, and that was why he sent Michael down to investigate. Victor said that Michael found that the payments were made by a shell company owned by Locke Communications. He said Michael sent the papers from Peru before he disappeared. Victoria was startled and asked more about the disappearance.

Victor said Michael fell off the face of the earth. He and Michael used to talk two or three times a day, and now – nothing. Victor said he should’ve been able to find Michael by now. Lauren was worried too. Victor implied that Ashland got to Michael. Victoria thought it was insane to suggest that Ashland harmed Michael. Victor didn’t know Michael had been harmed. Maybe Ashland had Michael locked away, to buy time. Victoria wouldn’t hear of it. She was adamant that her husband was innocent. Victor told Victoria to read the papers, and he said he had copies. He was deeply sorry to be the bearer of such bad news. He loved and adored her, and he only wanted what was best for her. He left.

Nikki ran into Ashland at Society. He got up, and she turned around and started toward the door. He asked her to stay and hear him out. Nikki said she didn’t have time. Ashland knew how this must look. He was sure Victor filled Nikki’s head with all kinds of accusations. She said no one planted ideas in her head that she didn’t think deserved to be there. He just wanted to tell her his side of the story, so she could decide for herself. He sensed she wasn’t convinced as Victor by the word of one unscrupulous doctor. She was willing to hear him out. He said they’d been working together for awhile, and she’d seen how profound his love was for Victoria. He thought she must realize he’d never ever mastermind the plot Victor was accusing him of, and he’d never hurt Victoria that way.

Nikki didn’t want to believe Ashland was capable of coming up with this plot. However, Victor said there was too much evidence that couldn’t have been fabricated. “And yet he’s willing to believe that I fabricated mountains of evidence to somehow fake an illness I don’t have? Do you not see the contradiction?,” he asked. Nikki said someone was lying, and she hoped it was a doctor at the clinic, but it was becoming harder not to think it was Ashland. He asked if she was saying Victor found more of this so-called evidence.

Nikki asked what kind of evidence Ashland thought Victor could’ve come up with. Ashland said it didn’t matter. He didn’t want to guess what was going on in Victor’s mind. He just wanted to find a way to get past this. Nikki asked what Ashland expected of her. He said he needed Nikki to be on his side. He said Victor wouldn’t stop until he poisoned Victoria against Ashland. Nikki wanted to know what Ashland thought Victor’s motives were. He didn’t know. He suggested Victor felt threatened by Ashland’s recovery. Nikki said that was baseless – Victor wasn’t easily threatened, especially by Ashland. She said Victor’s only agenda was protecting Victoria. Ashland said that he only cared about protecting Victoria and their marriage. He asked if she’d ever seen her daughter happier.

Nikki said Ashland knew how supportive she and Victor had been of the wedding and the couple’s happiness. She pointed out that they had a beautiful wedding at the Tuscan villa that became a wedding gift. She reminded him of the lengths Victor and his sons went through to protect Ashland’s reputation and company. He was grateful for all of that, so the turnaround seemed so much more puzzling. Nikki said for Ashland to betray them after all that made it more devastating and unforgivable. He said the unforgivable thing for him was the precious time he was losing with Victoria. He said that no one promised him that this treatment was a magical cure. Nikki wanted to know what the doctors said, since Ashland had been vague about his condition. Ashland said he’d only been told his cancer was in remission for the moment, so it was horrible that instead of being able to spend the extra time he had with Victoria working side by side, he was having to fight for the love of his life.

Nikki said that if Ashland was being honest, he had to prove it. Ashland said he was working on it. Nikki said that he couldn’t be expected to be taken at his word – he’d need evidence, and if he could deliver, Victor would apologize.

Nikki and Victor met back up at Newman Media. Nikki was concerned Victor and Victoria’s relationship wouldn’t recover. Victor didn’t take the stuff Victoria said personally, because he knew she wasn’t actually angry with him. Victor said that Victoria might not immediately believe the documents, but he was sure she’d come around to his side. He knew it would be traumatic for Victoria to learn the depth of Ashland’s deceit.

Ashland went to Victoria’s office. She closed the door and told him about Victor, the envelope, and Victor’s theories on Michael. She said Victor had records of payments being sent to the Peruvian doctor. They were sent from a very small and obscure radio division, owned by Locke Communications – one you’d have to look really hard to find. “Tell me something, Ashland. Why would a small company that we own, that’s barely on anyone’s radar be sending a steady stream of money to a doctor who is connected with your treatment,” Victoria asked.

In LA, Jack told Allie that he wanted to talk to her about Hao Nguyen – his son Keemo. Allie said Hao Nguyen was a common name, and Jack must have the wrong guy. Jack said he was certain he had the right person. She asked what they wanted – Hao was dead. He said he came here for answers about his son. “Look, Hao couldn’t possibly be your son. He’s my dad, and he never mentioned you,” Allie replied.

Allie said her dad never knew his father – he was the result of an affair her grandmother had in Vietnam. Jack said her name was Luan. Allie asked if Jack was claiming he was here to track down his son after his death. He gently told her that her father didn’t tell her the whole truth. He explained that he and Luan were Hao’s parents, and Keemo was his given name. Allie said her dad told her that he didn’t know anything about his father growing up. Jack said that was true – he didn’t know anything about Keemo until his son was a young adult. Allie didn’t believe it, and she wanted proof. Jack pulled out the picture of him and Luan on their wedding day. Allie was stunned. Luan died before Allie was born, but she’d seen other pictures of her grandmother, and she recognized Luan and the younger Jack. “Your father was our best man,” Jack said.

This doesn’t prove anything. If my dad knew who his father was, why didn’t he tell me? Why would he lie to me and my mother like that?,” Allie challenged. She said that the picture just showed Jack married her grandmother, it didn’t mean he was her… “You’re grandfather,” Jack said. Allie looked shaken up, and she needed to sit down. Jack showed Allie the paperwork he gave Keemo on the wedding day. It legally and personally acknowledged Jack was Keemo’s father. Allie didn’t understand why her dad hid all this. Jack repeated the whole story about accidentally finding out Luan was sick, and hiding it from Keemo, out of respect for Luan’s wishes. Keemo didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to his mom, and he was devastated and furious with Jack. Jack tried hard to fix it, and he thought he had, but then he started getting bitter emails from Keemo. Keemo cut Jack off and changed his name.

Allie said if this was all true, it was clear that her father wanted nothing to do with Jack, so why was he here? He told her about the mysterious texts. She was upset to hear that Jack had been going through her father’s house and searching through his things. Jack understood how Allie felt, and he’d felt conflicted about that as well. He said he was seeking closure – his son died, and he wanted to know what kind of man he became. He showed her the letters written by Keemo. Allie snatched them away and asked what gave Jack the right to read those. He told her they were addressed to him. He encouraged her to read them. She unfolded one and burst into tears. She couldn’t bear to read it, so she asked Jack what they said. He said that the letters revealed that Keemo was thinking of reconnecting with him. Jack said Keemo never got the chance, because he died. Allie looked at a letter and sobbed because that was her father’s handwriting, and these were snippets of his thoughts. She was struggling with accepting that her dad was gone. Now she was seeing a side of her dad that she never knew about. Jack asked if Allie had anyone to lean on. Allie’s parents divorced a few years ago, and her mom moved to the east coast, and she hadn’t seen her mom much sense. Her mom did fly out for the funeral, but she left soon after. With a hint of bitterness in her voice, Allie stated her mother said that she’d needed to get back to work. Jack realized he was probably the last person Allie would seek comfort in, but it just killed him that she was all alone. She said she’d be fine.

Phyllis asked if Allie’s mother could know the truth and be the one sending the texts. Allie doubted it. Phyllis implied that Allie might be the texter. Allie was adamant that she’d never even heard of Jack Abbott was before today. Jack believed Allie, but he said someone thought they should meet. Allie had no idea who that person should be. Allie said whoever sent the texts wasted their time. She had grad school and a life to live, and if her father couldn’t bring himself to reconcile with Jack, she had no reason to either. “I think you and your friend should go back to where you came from,” she said. She told them to forget this encounter happened, and she rushed toward the door. Jack called Allie and said he couldn’t do that.

Jack was sorry, but he couldn’t pretend he never met Allie. He knew this was hard for her. What he’d learned was hard for him too. Someone wanted him to come here, and as painful as it had been to find out about all he lost, he was glad he came because he got to meet her. No one knew more than him how hard it was not to be able to go to your father and ask for answers. He hoped, in time, he and Allie could find answers in each other. He knew he was a stranger now, but he hoped they could be more to each other, in time. Allie was sorry, but she wasn’t interested. Jack said Allie had his number, so she could call. She didn’t want to. He asked if he could keep the contents of the box. She took a quick look and said she didn’t want any of it. He picked up the necklace he’d given Luan and tried to give it to Allie. She seemed moved by it, but then she steeled herself and coolly said “no thanks.” Allie was sorry everyone wasted their time. She left. Jack looked devastated, and Phyllis comforted him.

Jack hoped that Allie would come back after she processed things. Phyllis said enough about Allie – she wanted to talk about Jack. She knew he must be stunned. He said it was quite the surprise, finding a granddaughter. He couldn’t expect Allie to embrace him – she didn’t know he existed. Phyllis told Jack not to suppress his emotions with her. He didn’t want to dump everything on her. She said that was why she came. He said he was overwhelmed. She suggested that Allie would come around. She said it seemed like Keemo passed his bitter feelings to the next generation. Jack thought Allie was just honoring his father’s wishes. Jack respected that. It seemed like Allie and Keemo were close, and Jack was glad that Keemo had love in his life. Phyllis said that was nice, but she wanted to know how Jack really felt. He said yesterday, he learned his son was thinking about repairing their relationship, today he learned that Keemo had a daughter he never wanted Jack to know. It broke Jack’s heart.

Jack had to focus on the here and now – and that was Allie, the sweet young woman dealing with the loss of her father on her own. Jack had picked up on the tension Allie showed when she talked about her mother.

Recap written by Christine

It was a new day, and Jack and Phyllis went back to Keemo’s house. Jack couldn’t sleep last night. He kept thinking about all that he and Keemo lost. Phyllis let Jack know that he had a lot of people supporting him. He said this was a lot more difficult than he expected. He’d wept with regret over losing all that time with his son, and Phyllis was the only thing that got him through. He thanked her, and she said that she was happy to do it. They smelled orange blossom perfume, and she said someone had been in the house since they left.

Jack and Phyllis didn’t find any other signs of another person being in the house. Jack wanted to think this was the person who’d been sending him texts. He or she never responded when Jack texted and asked if there was something else he was supposed to find. Phyllis suggested they go through the box again. Jack found a picture of a young woman in the box. That picture wasn’t there before. The back of the picture said “Allie” and it had a phone number on it. Jack noticed that this lady looked like the young girl in the photo taken in Vietnam, all grown up. Jack didn’t know who this person was to Keemo. Phyllis asked if the number on the photo was the same as the one the texts were coming from. They weren’t. Jack called the number. He left his name and a message asking Allie if they could talk about Keemo. Phyllis reminded Jack to call him Hao.

Phyllis suggested that Allie was the texter, using a different phone. Jack was trying to keep an open mind. He didn’t want to jump to conclusions. Allie called back, and Jack asked if she could meet him to talk at Hao’s house. Allie was busy now, but she’d come by later. Phyllis promised Jack that Allie would have the answers. She urged him to come up with a plan so that he didn’t bombard Allie with questions. He was wound up, so he decided to go for a walk. He asked Phyllis to stay in case Allie arrived, and she quickly agreed. He thanked her for everything.

Jack returned and called for Phyllis. She came in from the garden and said it was gorgeous. She wondered if Keemo designed it. She noted that Jack didn’t seem any more relaxed, and she suggested he go sit in the garden. Phyllis was wondering if she shouldn’t be here when Allie arrived. Jack was adamant that he wanted Phyllis with him. He didn’t know what to expect. “I’m unsure of my footing and you are solid ground,” he said. She took his hand, and he kissed her hand. Just as Jack decided that Allie wasn’t coming, she walked in. Allie seemed cautious and asked what Jack and Phyllis were doing here. She asked if they were lawyers or with the bank. She thought the estate was settled. Jack told Allie his full name, and there was no sign of recognition on her part. He explained that he was Hao/Keemo’s father. Allie looked startled.

Abby and Chance stopped by Devon’s place. They sent a text earlier that he didn’t receive. They were there to take the baby home early. Chance was sorry they sprang this on Devon. Devon said it was okay. He was planning to bring the baby back later. Chance was hoping he, Abby and Dom could spend some family time together before his therapy session. Devon wished he’d had more head’s up, but he knew they all had to be flexible. Amanda came downstairs. Chance thanked Devon for being considerate, adding that he and Abby would’ve understood if he’d kicked them to the curb. Devon said it was okay. He knew he’d see Dom soon.

Once they were alone, Amanda asked Devon how he really felt about letting Dom leave early. He said he’d picked the baby up early sometimes, so it was only fair that Abby and Chance got to do the same. Amanda thought the co-parenting arrangement was impressive, but she knew Devon wasn’t okay with this. He siad nothing was bothering him, but he could tell something was bothering Chance. Amanda noticed how anxious Chance was. Devon was concerned about what the tension would do to Dominic. Devon thought therapy had been a lot more difficult for Chance than he anticipated.

Back at their house, Abby overheard Chance telling Dom that therapy wouldn’t be nearly as fun as hanging out together was. She joined the conversation and said she thought he’d be more comfortable after he got his first session out of the way. He said the problem wasn’t Dr. Huffman. He was just worried about bringing up all the trauma, and he didn’t know where it would end. Abby offered some supportive words. Chance hoped Dom wasn’t picking up on his nerves. Abby promised that Dom only felt Chance’s love. Chance knew therapy would be hard and that he’d come out a better person. However, he didn’t know how to talk about his emotions. He was scared that when he had a breakthrough, everything would spill out, and it’d be messy. Abby was sure it would be messy, but she asked what was the worst that could happen. She suggested it’d be cathartic in a positive way. He loved her optimism, and he needed it now, and forever. They kissed.

At Dr. Huffman’s office, Chance said that they barely scratched the surface in his first session, but it took a lot out of him. He felt fortunate for Abby’s support. He drew a lot of his strength from her and his son. He was going to continue therapy so he could be the man he deserved. Dr. Huffman wanted to hear about the last day of the mission in Spain. Chance started to recite the details of that night in a matter-of-fact tone. Dr. Huffman clarified that Chance should focus on what he felt. Chance said he could hear his team yelling, and that hurt much worse than the shrapnel in his leg. Some of the toughest people he knew were screaming for their lives, and he couldn’t do anything – he couldn’t move. He felt worthless. The team stopped screaming, and he knew what that meant. He looked for survivors, called names, but there was nothing. The people who set the bomb showed up looking for survivors. He hid in the rubble and played dead – surrounded by the bodies of his friends. Every day, he asked why he survived and they didn’t.

Dr. Huffman said survivor’s guilt was a powerful trauma. He asked what Chance had been doing to cope before therapy. Chance stated that he’d tried to atone for what he did. Dr. Huffman was adamant that He told Chance didn’t do anything wrong, and he didn’t need to atone for surviving. Chance knew Dr. Huffman was trying to make him realize this wasn’t his fault, but Chance wasn’t there yet. Dr. Huffman asked what form the atonement took. Chance said he reached out to the families, told them their son/daughter or wife/husband was a hero. He paid for some of the funerals. Dr. Huffman asked if any of the families expressed resentment toward Chance, and he said no. Chance said his friend Justin’s wife wrote a letter saying she was thankful and telling him not to blame himself. She told him to find peace. “How the hell am I supposed to find peace when I hid? I was surrounded by death, and I hid,” he said. He asked how he was supposed to look his wife and son in the face. How could he reconcile who he was in Spain with this man who had this perfect life and family? He wanted to move on an embrace the future that was ripped away from his team, but he didn’t know how.

Chance came home, and Dom was being fussy. He was teething. Abby suggested he’d settle down if his dad held him. Chance didn’t think that would help. When Abby encouraged Chance, he snapped that he said no. He apologized, but she said she was sorry for not realizing he needed a moment to decompress. He said he had an intense session today, and he knew it’d get worse before it got better. He didn’t think it was right for Dom to be around the negative energy. Abby said they’d make things right, and she hugged Chance.

Rey visited Sharon at Crimson Lights. She was doing her end of the year inventory – it was March, but she was a bit behind. They started talking, and he learned that they’d have the house to themselves because Noah was at work and Faith was babysitting Christian. Rey had a few hours off from work, and he wanted to spend them with Sharon. He said they could go bowling, or to the lake or to the bookstore. She had a better idea, but she wasn’t going to share it just yet.

Amanda and Devon went to Crimson Lights. Devon asked Rey if there was any word on when Chance was coming back to work. Rey said Paul was giving Chance all the time he needed. Devon asked if Sharon heard any updates on Chance’s progress in therapy. She hadn’t, and if she had, she wouldn’t be able to say. Devon was worried about how Chance’s trauma would affect Dom. Rey said a lot of people had Chance’s back, and Dom’s too.

Sharon and Rey were alone again, and they were about to leave for their private thing Sharon had planned. Faith called, and Christian quickly got on the phone. Sharon had a warm conversation with him and agreed to come by his house for a bit. The call ended. The little boy had a school project to do – he had to ask one of his favorite adults five questions, then take a picture of them for a poster. Rey thought it was sweet Christian told Sharon. He understood that they weren’t getting alone time today. Sharon was sorry. She said they could make a date for another time.

Chelsea arrived after Sharon left. She told Rey about her work trip, and he was happy things were going well for her. They talked, and at one point they reminisced about how Rey drove off with the food on the roof of the car when they were in Minnesota. She said she told Connor about that later, and he cracked up laughing about the food falling all over the ground. Rey asked how Connor was. He was great – she saw him as soon as she got back from NY. He loved the hockey jersey Rey got him. Rey mentioned that Blackhawks tickets were on sale. He thought it would be a cool road trip. She said that was a great idea and asked if he was planning to go. He couldn’t go, because of work. “When I saw tickets I thought of you…and Connor,” he said. Rey had noticed that Connor talkative about things he loved. Chelsea said Connor was shy, and he was only talkative with people he loved and trusted. She was glad Rey was one of those people.

Out on the patio, Amanda said that when Devon suggested Crimson Lights, she thought he wanted coffee – she didn’t realize he came to interrogate Sharon. He denied doing that, but Amanda said he kind of did. She said that he also got to ask Rey about Chance’s job. Devon didn’t plan to do that, but once he got here, he saw them he thought he could ask about Chance’s state of mind. Amanda was worried about Devon’s state of mind. She said that there was an amazing co-parenting agreement in place, and Chance was getting therapy, but Devon was still trying to find things to worry about. At first, she thought it was subconscious, but now she wasn’t too sure.

Devon wasn’t trying to cause trouble for Chance. He just wanted what was best for him. Amanda didn’t doubt that, but she was talking about the custody agreement. She didn’t think he was comfortable with it. He said he had everything he asked for. She said he seemed deflated whenever Dom left, and she saw it crushed him when Dom left early today. Amanda had an indelicate question, but she wanted the truth. She asked if he wanted sole custody of Dom. “I don’t want full custody of Dominic at all. Abby and Chance are his parents, and this is just a new dynamic that we’re all trying to figure out how to navigate,” he said. She believed him, but she didn’t understand why he was asking all these questions about Chance’s mental state. He’d been concerned about this since Chance’s return, and he noted that Amanda knew that. He didn’t think Chance realized the depth of his trauma. As someone who’d been through therapy, Devon knew you didn’t leave those emotions at the doctor’s office – Chance was taking them home to his family. Devon also knew that it could take a long time to have a breakthrough at therapy.

Recap written by Christine

At Crimson Lights, Victoria was short with Nikki, leading Nikki to say she wasn’t the enemy. Victoria was furious because her parents weren’t accepting that she was an adult who had the right to live her own life without interference. She accused Nikki of knowing Victor was saying Ashland faked his cancer. Nikki explained that she found out shortly before Victoria did. Victoria noted that Nikki didn’t warn her. Nikki said she was in shock, and she wanted to think it was a mistake. Victoria hoped Nikki didn’t believe these hateful and disgusting insinuations. Nikki wasn’t sure what to believe. She noted that Ashland did die about his past. She added that Ashland acted like he’d just happened upon this clinic in Peru, when he’d actually been funding it for years. Victoria suggested she found it easy to forgive Ashland’s transgressions because she’d had to do the same thing for Victor so often. Nikki said all Victor ever tried to do was protect Victoria, even if his method wasn’t perfect. Nikki stated that Victor was trying to protect Victoria now too. “By going after my husband, he’s already lost me,” Victoria replied.

It broke Nikki’s heart that Victoria was talking like her relationship with Victor was irreparable. She asked if Victoria really thought Victor could make something like this up. Victoria pointed out that Victor was known to do underhanded things. She reminded Nikki that when Ashland had a heart attack, Victor made him sign over Newman Media before he’d call for help. Victoria asked if Victor was claiming Ashland faked the heart attack too. “What if these accusations are true,” Nikki asked. “How dare you, Mother!” Victoria replied. Victoria was sure the accusation was false. She conceded that Ashland had been ruthless, just like her father, but this would require a different level of deception. “You’re saying that the man that I adore doesn’t love me. You’re saying that he’s evil and conniving and that I have been a fool all along,” Victoria stated. Nikki gently suggested that Ashland had set this plan in motion before he even met Victoria. Nikki implored Victoria to talk to Michael and hear him out. Victoria was hurt and offended – she thought Nikki, of all people would be on her and Ashland’s side. “I am on your side. As your mother, your COO and your friend!,” Nikki was near tears as she stormed off. Victoria called Michael and left him a message.

At Newman Locke, Ashland blasted someone over the phone. He didn’t want any more surprises. “You disappoint me again, it’ll be your last time,” Ashland said then he ended the call. Nate showed up, and Ashland immediately knew he’d spoken to Victor. Nate wanted to hear Ashland say that Victor was wrong. Ashland said this was a revenge plot from some enemy he’d made along the way. Nate asked who hated Ashland that much. Ashland thought it’d be easier to name the people who didn’t want his head on a platter. Ashland noted that Nate was with him through the worst parts of his illness, and he was beside Ashland when he married the woman who changed his life. Ashland understood why Victor felt this way – he was protecting his daughter, assuming that was all it was. Ashland suggested Victor’s feelings had changed because Ashland wasn’t at death’s door anymore. Ashland needed to know Nate believed him. He valued their friendship, and he hated to believe Nate was buying into this. Nate wanted to believe Ashland, because one would have to be an awful person to lie about having a fatal illness.

Ashland wasn’t going to spend more time trying to figure out Victor’s motives. He said Nate was his primary concern. Ashland had few friends – the more money he made, the more isolated he’d become. Aside from Victoria, Nate was one of Ashland’s most trusted friends. Ashland felt he could confide in Nate and be honest with him. That was part of the reason he made the impulsive decision to ask Nate to be his best man, even though they hadn’t known each other that long. Ashland asked if Nate thought he could lie about something like this. Nate said it was difficult to imagine. Ashland said people had been coming after him his entire life. Ashland thought Victor bought into this because he never really trusted Ashland. Nate had known Victor a long time, and while Nate didn’t like everything Victor did, Victor was smart and thorough. Nate said Victor wouldn’t make an accusation like this without proof. Ashland said his enemies laid this trap carefully, but he wasn’t going to allow these people to dismantle the accomplishments he’d made with the Newmans. Nate asked if Ashland saw his marriage to Victoria as an accomplishment.

Ashland didn’t see the marriage as an accomplishment. Marrying Victoria was the best thing to ever happen to him. She was the true love of his life who stood by him through so many tribulations. Nate wanted to know what Ashland was referring to as an accomplishment. Ashland snapped that he was obviously talking about the merger, which was also the crowning achievement in Victoria’s career – she imagined it and made it happen. He couldn’t be happier more more proud of her. Marrying Victoria was a gift – she made him happy, and he’d made her happy too – happier than she’d ever been, according to her. He didn’t know how much longer he had left with her, but he wasn’t going to let anyone take away one single second of that time.

Ashland said Nate had gotten a look at how rough and tumble the business world could be at the higher levels. Ashland intended to expose this sham and put an end to it so they could focus on the future – one that included Nate at Newman Locke. Victoria came in, and Ashland told her why Nate was there. Victoria was humiliated that her family was spreading this rumor. Victoria said Nate saw Ashland’s records and the toll this had taken on him. Nate said everything he saw supported this diagnosis. Victoria asked Nate to go to her father and tell him how insane this was. Nate hoped the truth came out sooner than later. Ashland said they were lucky to have Nate as a friend. He looked forward to discussing Nate’s future at Newman Locke. Nate left. Victoria was relieved Nate wasn’t buying into this nonsense. Victoria wondered why Ashland looked so upset, given that he had the chief of surgery on his side. “Victor’s protecting his daughter. I can understand that. But why he felt the need to go to my friend and poison him against me…” Ashland supposed it was better that everything was out in the open. Ashland wanted to find out who was behind the disgusting allegations. He wanted to remove any shred of doubt from Victor’s mind, and from anyone else’s. Ashland was going to put all his energy in finding out who was trying to destroy his life. He asked Victoria if she could look him in the eye and say she believed him. She promised she’d always support him. She thought they should celebrate that. She gave him the contract that would make him her co-CEO. Ominous music played as Ashland signed the contract.

Nate met Elena at Society. He told her that someone was making scandalous accusations about Ashland. Elena said Ashland was no angel, but she’d thought falling in love with Victoria would’ve changed him. She asked if he thought the accusations were true. He didn’t want to believe it. He said it would’ve been one thing if Victor had approached him with this, but it was Nick. Elena understood the gravity of the Newman with the heart of gold reaching out. Nate heard Ashland out and found him very convincing, but Nate had doubts about Ashland and about taking the job at Newman Locke.

Elena told Nate they’d focus on getting a meal now. She wasn’t going to pry for details on Ashland. She told him to trust his gut – if something felt wrong, it probably was. Nate said that was what he was afraid of. He needed to find out who was behind this.

Lauren ran into Kevin at Society and asked when he last heard from his brother. It had been almost two days since she’d heard from Michael. Kevin had done some work for Victor, off the books, and he kept his employees busy. That was why Lauren had her reservations about this job. Victor persuaded Michael it was a part time job, then he sent Michael out of the country, likely on some kind of shady business. Kevin thought there were a million reasons Michael could be out of contact – his phone was lost or broken, he didn’t have cell service, he’d gotten on a plane and turned it off. Lauren thought about all that too. Lauren said that Michael knew she’d be scared, and he’d find a way to let her know he was okay. She couldn’t shake the feeling Victor got Michael involved in something bad. Lauren believed Victor hired Michael so that he’d get attorney-client privilege. Lauren said Michael loved the idea of handling Victor’s secret projects, and she was afraid he was now paying the price.

Lauren thought Michael was doing work for Victor that would usually be done by a private investigator. Kevin was sure Michael could take care of himself. Lauren agreed, and that was why she was so worried. Kevin said he’d do some digging. Lauren was glad to hear that. Chloe arrived and she wanted to tell Lauren about Chelsea’s trip to NY. Lauren was interested, but she didn’t have time right now. She left. Kevin confided that he was worried about Michael. Kevin had predicted that if Michael went to work for Victor, it would only lead to trouble. Chloe didn’t want Kevin to let himself get pulled into Lauren’s fears about Michael. Chloe said there were a lot of mundane reasons why Michael could be out of contact. Kevin had told Lauren the same thing, but Lauren said something was off, and she was right. Kevin thought Victor chose Michael because he needed help doing something top secret and delicate. Kevin said if his brother was in trouble, he had no one to help him. Kevin thought they owed to to Michael to investigate.

Victor went to Newman Media and told Adam that Ashland called his bluff and told Victoria everything and proclaimed his innocence. Victoria believed Ashland, and she was furious with Victor. Victor said he’d been forced into the untenable position of telling his beloved daughter that she was married to a fraud. Adam said they knew Ashland’s reputation before he proposed. Victor was mad he allowed Ashland to come into their family and spin his web of deception. Adam said it wasn’t Victor’s fault. Victor said it would be if they allowed Ashland to sign the contract that made him co-CEO of Newman Locke. Victor wasn’t sure how to stop Ashland yet. Adam asked if Victor had heard from Michael. Victor hadn’t, and it bothered him terribly. He hoped Michael went into hiding. Adam thought they had to consider the possibility that Ashland countered their move and had his people stop Michael’s investigation. Victor knew he’d need irrefutable proof to get Victoria to trust him over her husband. Right now, Victor didn’t have it, and that meant Ashland was in the driver’s seat, to Victor’s chagrin.

Just before Michael went missing, he texted Victor to say he was gathering all the dirt he had on Ashland and sending it to him. Victor never received the information. It really hurt Victor to think he’d lose Victoria’s love and trust. Nikki walked in and said Victoria was furious and heartbroken. Nikki was worried about how Victoria and Victor would ever recover if Victor was wrong. Lauren arrived just in time to hear Adam say they couldn’t count on Michael to save the day. Lauren wanted answers, and she didn’t care if they had an audience. Victor sent Nikki and Adam away.

Victor said Michael was on a delicate mission, and he’d surely be home as soon as he could. Lauren wasn’t sure if Victor was covering something up, or if he didn’t want to admit he’d lost contact with Michael. Lauren asked what Victor got Michael into. Victor said it was a delicate mission that Michael could handle. Lauren said supposed to be a short fact-finding mission. She told him he made it sound like an adventure, and Michael ate it up. She thought that he forgot to tell Michael how dangerous this was. Victor said he’d never put Michael in danger. Lauren’s gut told her something was very wrong. Victor said Michael was a good friend, and if anything went wrong, he’d move heaven and earth to get him back to Lauren. Lauren thought they needed to do that now. Victor said they didn’t know anything was wrong. Lauren asked what Victor would do if Nikki fell off the radar. Victor said he’d do the same thing Lauren was doing, and if Nikki was alright, she’d ask him why he was so worried. Lauren hoped Victor was telling her the truth. “If anything happens to Michael, I will never forgive you,” she said. Lauren left.

Victor talked to someone on the phone about Michael. Victor said, not only was Michael a good friend, he had the evidence Victor needed. He told the person to get to work on finding Michael. Adam returned and said Michael was a smart guy who’d gotten himself out of some tough spots. Victor never expected Ashland to get the upper hand. He thought Ashland would do whatever he could to keep Michael quiet, especially now that his back was against the wall.

Lauren met Chloe and Kevin at Crimson Lights. Kevin hacked into Michael’s devices and hit a brick wall when he tried tracking his brother. Lauren said she thought Victor didn’t want to admit he didn’t know where Michael was. Kevin said that if they didn’t hear from Michael by morning, he was going to get his cop buddies involved.

Recap written by Christine

Billy and Lily had just finished a fabulous dinner at Society. She thanked him for pulling her away from her desk. It was hard for her to stop working, especially now that they were working from home, and surrounded by their jobs. She thought it must be even worse for him, because he’d been getting up in the middle of the night to work. She knew his last recording session didn’t go how he hoped, but she urged him to relax, because there was no deadline on this project. He was going to talk to Traci about writer’s block. He was hoping Traci would have an update on Jack, because he wasn’t answering Billy’s texts. She was going to visit Devon, Dom and get her baby fix. She was also hoping to talk to Devon about the merger again. Billy didn’t think that was the best idea, and Lily wanted to know why. She asked if he was against the merger or against her trying to convince Devon. Billy said he thought the merger was genius.

Billy didn’t think Lily should pressure Devon, who’d made it clear that he wanted to focus on Dom. Lily knew her brother, and she thought she just threw too much at him too soon. Billy suggested that Devon liked his position at Hamilton Winters and didn’t want to share it, not even with Lily. Billy knew Lily and Jill were disappointed. Lily narrowed her eyes and asked if that meant Billy wasn’t disappointed the merger wasn’t happening right now. Billy really hoped Devon came around, but he didn’t think that pressuring him was the answer. Lily hoped Billy would tell her if he didn’t like the idea of the merger. She hoped he’d be transparent with her, the way she was with him about her reservations on his podcast idea. He swore he genuinely loved the idea of the merger, and he hoped Devon came around. He loved her, and he hoped this worked out exactly the way she envisioned it.

Later, Lily was at Devon’s. The baby had been crying for 20 minutes, and Devon wasn’t able to figure out the problem. Devon wondered if Dom was teething, or if this was a serious issue, related to his recovery. Lily suggested he just call the doctor, so he did. Dr. Alston thought Dom’s fussiness was a sign that he was feeling more energetic. The call ended with Devon’s relief. Lily was proud of Devon for how calm he’d stayed. He asked what brought her by. She said she just came to see Dom, but she lit up when he said he was thinking of discussing the merger. He laughed and said he knew she came by to talk about work. Lily promised Devon she wasn’t going to push it. He didn’t mind her bringing it up. He said Amanda laid out scenarios where they could bring the companies together without having to surrender control over what mattered to them. Lily thought they could work something out. Devon wasn’t so sure, but he wasn’t against it. Right now he thought they should focus on the podcast and see how that went first. She accepted that. He said he napped while Dom did earlier, and he dreamed Neil was there smiling at him. He couldn’t help feeling like it was a sign Neil approved of Lily’s idea. Lily said they could take their time, so Devon would be comfortable.

At the Abbott house, Traci called Jack, and he didn’t answer, so she called Phyllis. Phyllis said Jack was in his hotel room after a long day. Traci asked for an update. Phyllis told her about the letters from Keemo to Jack. Traci was glad Keemo’s last letter to Jack was kind. It was heartbreaking to Traci that Jack found out his son was in the US the entire time, but he never reached out to any of the Abbotts. She almost wished whoever sent the messages had left well enough alone. Phyllis said she wasn’t going to push Jack to investigate, even though someone obviously wanted him to find that box of keepsakes. Traci was glad Jack had someone with him who knew him as well as Phyllis did. Traci was curious about the other contents of the box. Phyllis said there was a scarf, postcards, a necklace Jack gave to Luan, then to Keemo after she died, and the proof of paternity Jack gave Keemo. Traci couldn’t imagine the memories this was bringing up for Jack.

Traci was delighted when Billy dropped by – she felt lucky that she got two visits from her favorite younger brother. Noting that he was her only younger brother, Billy said he was the lucky one. He asked if she talked to Jack. Traci assumed Jack turned his phone off so he could process things. She told him about her conversation with Phyllis. Billy thought it was strange that Jack found letters Keemo was writing letters to Jack without sending them. Billy thought he or Traci should’ve gone with Jack and not Phyllis, the queen of hidden agendas. Traci said Phyllis had been protective of Jack. Billy conceded that Phyllis might have Jack’s best interests at heart this time, but he expected trouble would be ahead. Later, Billy and Traci had hot chocolate. He told her how he’d been waking up every night around 2:45 AM every night and recording his thoughts. The theme was about turning your life around. Traci was supportive, and she thought Billy should write a book. He told her he was trying to record a podcast, and his first session went terribly. She suggested meditation as a way to get in touch with his thoughts, but he said he wasn’t comfortable sitting still. She thought it was what he needed though. He said she was right, as always.

Traci asked how things were going at Chancellor. She imagined the pressure was a nightmare. He said Lily was fantastic in the role, and he was proud of her. He told her that Lily came up with an idea that was genius. Traci thought that would be great for Lily and Billy, but she reconsidered her assumption after she saw that he didn’t look enthusiastic about it. He wasn’t sure this would be good for him, but he said it would be good for Lily, and that was what was important. He said he and Lily hadn’t discussed his involvement in the deal, and they didn’t need to. His job was to advise her in what was best for the company, not what was best for him personally. Traci saw that Billy was framing this as if he was just Lily’s colleague. She asked what about the personal relationship. He said that was all moot if the plan didn’t work out. Traci didn’t think it would be fair if Lily didn’t find out about Billy’s concerns until after the deal went through. She thought he should talk to Lily about this sooner than later, and trust that Lily would want to know the truth.

When Lily got home, Billy was there. He told her about the letters from Keemo. Keemo forgave Jack, but it was too late for them to reconnect. Billy said it was so typical – his nephew held a grudge for decades, and where did it get him? Lily saw that Billy was reading about meditation, and he explained that Traci said it was helpful for connecting to your inner voice. She told him about her conversation with Devon. She was glad Devon was realizing Neil would love the idea. Billy felt guilty because he wasn’t totally honest with Lily at the restaurant. As a COO, he loved the idea of the merger, but he had personal reservations. He was embarrassed to say this out loud, but he wondered where he’d fit in to the merged company. He knew Devon would bring his own people in, and Lily might not even need a COO. Lily thought Billy’s concern was valid. She said no matter what happened with Chancellor, he’d always be the person she depended on the most – he was her right hand man. He appreciated her answer, and she kissed him.

Contrary to what Phyllis thought, Jack was not in his room. He was at Keemo’s house. Jack wished he could have one more day with Keemo, one more hour, to set things right. He wondered if Keemo would’ve reached out if he’d had more time. Jack understood that Keemo had been afraid that his rage would flare up if he contacted Jack. “I would never have let that happen,” Jack said. It would’ve brought Jack so much joy to have Keemo back in his life. He wished he could’ve introduced Keemo to his brother, Kyle. He would’ve done anything to heal the rift, if only Keemo had given him a clue that he was open to it. Jack thought the part that hurt the most was that he came so close to reconnecting with his son.

Jack picked up the picture again. He recognized Keemo and his half sister, but who were the other two people? He wondered why the person who left the box put the picture inside – was it to drive home how little he knew about his own son? He knew Keemo let go of his rage. He wondered if there was someone in Keemo’s life who was angry on his behalf. Jack dismissed the idea that the mystery person was lashing out at him. He believed that this box was meant to be a gift to him. He supposed he had to accept that the mystery person had to stay anonymous. He said it was enough to know that Keemo stopped despising him and that Keemo had considered reaching out to him. Jack wiped away tears. He didn’t think he’d get any more information, so this would have to be enough.

Jack turned his phone back on and saw the worried texts from his family. He was about to put their mind at ease when he heard something outside. He went out to the porch and looked around. He didn’t see anything, and he was on his way back inside when a car pulled into the driveway. It was Phyllis. He asked if she saw someone running away on foot when she pulled in. she didn’t notice anything, but she’d been talking to the person who drove her here. He said she didn’t have to come. She came because she realized he wasn’t at the hotel, and his phone wasn’t on. He was sorry, and she said he didn’t have to apologize. She was going to go back to the hotel, so he could have his privacy, but he asked her to stay.

Phyllis suggested that Jack heard coyotes. He thought it might be the texter – maybe they were as curious about him as he was about them. Jack didn’t think the texter was malicious or scamming him. He wondered if someone read the letters, was touched by them and wanted Jack to see them. Phyllis said no – in that case, the person would’ve boxed this stuff up, along with the obituary and mailed it to Jack instead of having him come to California. Jack realized his theory didn’t make sense because a random person who found the letters wouldn’t have had his number. Jack texted the person asking if there was anything else for him to find.

Jack didn’t get a text back, and he thought he’d found out all there was to know. Phyllis said that if Jack really wanted to know more, she’d look into it and try to get more information, but if he didn’t want to know, it was his prerogative. He said he was beat, confused and not sure what to do next. She asked if he was happy he came. He was shocked she even asked that. He was thinking about how close he came to not even knowing anything about what happened to Keemo. He’d thought the texts were a scam, and he’d decided to ignore them, but he said she took it upon herself to investigate. He was so grateful he came and was able to read the letters from his son and make this small connection. Phyllis said that this was painful to Jack. It was, but it was better than being in the dark about what happened to Keemo. He thanked her for making this happen. She said he didn’t have to thank her, because overstepping was part of who she was. He was so grateful for who she was.

Jack wondered what Keemo’s life was like – did he host friends here, or was he alone and lonely? Keemo was one short plane ride away from an extended family, and Jack didn’t have a clue. He cried about how he didn’t know a thing about Keemo’s life, and now he never would. “My own son,” he kept saying, and Phyllis hugged him.

Recap written by Christine

At Newman Locke, Ashland told Victoria that he’d just gotten off the phone with her father. Victoria wanted to know exactly what Victor said. Ashland didn’t want to upset her, but she said it was too late. He said that Victor threatened to expose Ashland’s crimes to Victoria unless Ashland capitulated. Victoria thought Victor’s actions were unacceptable. Ashland wondered how many times Victoria’s family would claim to have uncovered something about his past that made him unworthy of her. Not to mention the implication that she was a weak-willed victim who’d fallen prey to a monster. Victoria agreed with all that, but she wondered why Victor would be trying to squeeze Ashland out, and why Victor would tell this messy and obvious lie. She thought there had to be something more going on.

Victoria guessed Victor’s happiness at the wedding was a farce. Ashland suggested that Victor was happy at the wedding because he thought Ashland would die soon. Or, Victor pretended to be happy at the wedding because he wanted the merger to happen, so he could take control of Locke Communications and force Ashland out. Victoria realized Ashland was theorizing that Victor was the one behind the claims that Ashland faked his cancer. Victoria didn’t think Victor was framing Ashland. She didn’t think her dad would stoop that low or hurt her. Ashland said he was just trying to think of alternatives. Victoria understood why Ashland’s mind would go there, and she could also see why Victor bought into this insanity so quickly, but she didn’t think Victor was the one who made it look like Ashland was faking his illness. Victoria couldn’t picture Victor creating this wide-range conspiracy; that was too dark, even for Victor. Ashland apologized for suggesting it. Victoria wasn’t mad at him. She was angry with Victor for trying to use this lie to push Ashland out of her life. Ashland held Victoria and said he was sorry Victor was putting her through this. She said to feel sorry for Victor, because she was going to fight him with everything she had. “He has no idea what I’m capable of. But I am not gonna let him get away with this,” she said.

At Newman Media, Victor said to himself that Ashland just made a big mistake. “No one threatens me. No one threatens my family and gets away with it.”

Nate and Nick met at Society, at Nick’s request. Nate asked if this was about Faith or Victor’s health. Nick said his father and daughter were doing fine. Nick noted things were going well for everyone health-wise – Sharon was in remission, and Ashland had a miraculous recovery. Nick asked if Nate had ever seen anything like it. Nate admitted that Ashland’s amazing turnaround was rare. Nate wanted a deeper look into the protocol.

Nick thought Nate was a great friend of the family, even though they sometimes didn’t deserve it. Nick didn’t like leaning on that friendship, but he didn’t have a choice. Nick swore Nate to secrecy, then he said it had been suggested that Ashland’s recovery was too good to be true. Nate said sometimes science could seem like a miracle. Nick explained that there were indications that Ashland never had cancer. Nate knew Ashland pretty well, and he found it hard to believe Ashland would do something like this. He asked if the person spreading this rumor even knew Ashland. At that point, Victor arrived and joined the discussion. Nate knew some of the doctors Ashland worked with, by reputation, and they were excellent doctors who witnessed Ashland’s condition firsthand. Victor said Ashland deceived the Newmans, Victoria and Nate. Nate just couldn’t believe this without irrefutable evidence The trio went to Newman Media, where Victor let Nate watch the interview from the Peruvian doctors who said they were paid to pretend to treat Ashland. Nate asked if Victor took the video to the police or if he was sure the people on video were even doctors. He asked what decent doctor would pretend to treat a patient. Nate asked what about the doctor in NY, or the lab that ran the tests and diagnosed Ashland with cancer. Victor tried to get information from them, but he’d been stonewalled. Nate said that was called medical confidentiality. Nate asked if Victor even knew where the money came from to pay off the Peruvian doctors. He said someone could’ve framed Ashland by making it look like the money was from him. He thought Victor and Nick were falling for a scam. Victor said there was more evidence about Ashland on the way – he was a dangerous fraud. Victor wanted Nate to help them protect Victoria.

Nick understood Nate’s position, and he conceded that they didn’t have all the pieces of the puzzle, but he said there was enough evidence to seriously question Ashland’s condition. Nate had seen Ashland experiencing symptoms, and they were friends. Victor knew this was a shock, and he knew that feeling deceived was a hard pill to swallow, but he said to think about Victoria. Nate asked why Ashland would do such a thing. Victor said Ashland wanted Newman Enterprises.

Victor said that if Nate took a look into Ashland’s past, he’d see why it was easy for Ashland to convince Victoria to fall in love with him and convince her to merge the companies. Victor was sure Nate wondered why Ashland suddenly befriended him. “He needed your medical expertise to substantiate his BS about his medical history,” Victor said. Nate resented the implication that he’d been used. Victor asked if Nate read the ChancComm article – Ashland faked his own death and assumed the identity of the real Ashland Locke. Nick said Victoria knew everything in that article was true, but she was under Ashland’s spell, and she bought his excuses. Nick said that they had to gather proof and make sure Ashland didn’t do any more damage to Victoria or the family, and they needed Nate’s help to do that. Nate asked if there was incontrovertible evidence that Ashland lied about his condition. Victor had damning evidence, but it wasn’t enough to make Ashland come clean. Nick said they needed Nate’s help as a medical expert. Victoria burst in. “You have finally crossed the line. There is no coming back from this!,” she yelled.

Chance came downstairs. He’d taken a nap after his first therapy session. Abby knew it was a draining experience and asked if she could help. He assured her he wasn’t shutting her out, but he needed some time to figure this out on his own. He said they could talk about it later. Chance had wanted to take Abby to dinner, and he was sorry it didn’t look like that would happen. She didn’t care about going out. She was just grateful he was going to therapy. She’d never understand what it was like for him in Spain, but she was grateful he was facing his trauma and fighting for himself and Dominic. They kissed, and she began to unbutton his shirt.

Later, they held each other, and Chance said Abby had no idea what this did for him. Abby felt the same way. She said they’d have a lifetime of experiences, and they’d watch their son grow up. He told her they had a lot to be thankful for, then he suddenly said he was hungry, so he’d make them a snack. When he returned, he said it wasn’t easy to talk to Dr. Huffman, but he thought it helped. The doctor saw three tours overseas. Abby thought that was one of the reasons Sharon recommended him. Chance said Dr. Huffman understood a lot of what Chance was going through. Chance said that when people said what happened in Spain wasn’t his fault, he didn’t believe it, though he tried to. He felt that if he tried to move past it, it would be another betrayal of his team. He thought his team deserved to be remembered. Abby silently wept as she listened. He didn’t understand why he felt like he had to hold onto all this guilt. He knew he needed help. He said the pain had been a wall between him and Abby, and he couldn’t let that happen. She knew how hard it was for him to talk about this stuff and open up. She thanked him for sharing it with her. She wanted to be his safe place. He said she was. “I am determined not to fail this mission,” he assured her.

Faith was hanging out at Mariah and Tessa’s place. She asked how they knew they were in love. Mariah didn’t think there was a moment to pinpoint. She thought they both knew before they could admit to to each other. Tessa said that being in love was great, but it could be really scary. Faith shifted gears and asked how many guests they’d have at the wedding. They were keeping it small, so they could spend time with each guest. Faith asked if Mariah and Tessa were worried that their relationship wouldn’t survive the separation when Tessa was on tour. Mariah said it was very hard when Tessa went on the road, but it was also not an excuse to behave badly. Mortified, Faith said she didn’t mean to bring up any bad memories. Tessa said it was okay – being a couple meant that you sometimes worked through things when you made mistakes. Mariah said when she lost her way, Tessa was understanding, compassionate and forgiving. Tessa said Mariah had done the same for her. Mariah said it wasn’t always easy or fun to be in a relationship, but it shouldn’t be agonizingly hard either. Tessa said that you found out what worked and what didn’t, so you could make things last forever. Faith didn’t know what forever looked like, except from her grandparents’ example. Her grandparents had been together a long time, but even they’d had breakups. Her parents once loved each other, but now Sharon was with the awesome Rey, and Nick wasn’t with anyone. It made Faith wonder if soulmates were really a thing, and if they weren’t, why risk ending up with a broken heart.

Mariah wasn’t sure she and Tessa had answers on the risks of falling in love. Tessa added that she and Mariah felt like soulmates because they couldn’t imagine being apart. Tessa conceded that it was risky to put your heart out there, because it could end in ruin. Mariah added that things might work out too, but you wouldn’t know until you took the chance. Mariah asked if this was about Faith and Moses. According to Faith, things were really good with Moses, like life made more sense when he was around. But she knew things could change when they went to college, even though she didn’t want it to. Mariah said when you found the one, it could be reassuring, but sometimes things didn’t work out. Tessa said letting yourself fall in love required bravery and trust.

Noah showed up at Crimson Lights with a beautiful woman his age hanging all over him. He introduced Sharon to Cindy and explained that they were there to get some espresso before heading to the club. Cindy had already heard a lot about Sharon. She showered Sharon, Noah and Crimson Lights with compliments. It became apparent that Cindy didn’t actually know Noah well, because she called him Noel. Sharon asked about Cindy. She had a day job, but social media was her passion. Sharon asked if this was the woman Noah knew from his old days at Walnut Grove. Cindy wished she’d known him back then, but they just met today. Cindy said she and Noah had a meet-cute when they collided on the street while each was texting on their phone. Their phones went flying, and her screen broke, and he fell. They ended up going into a nearby cafe together and having a meal. She called him Noel again. He corrected her, and she acted like she’d been calling him the right name all along. Faith came in and met Cindy. Cindy joked that she was meeting Noah’s whole family on the first date.

Back upstairs, Mariah commented about her little sister pondering love and forever. Tessa said that wasn’t on her mind when she was that age. Mariah knew Tessa didn’t have it easy when she was a teen. Tessa said she’d been dealing with the chaos of her sister and parents. She noted that Mariah didn’t have it easy either. Mariah said she’d been too busy sleeping on friends’ couches and avoiding going home to the woman who raised her. They noted that Faith didn’t have it easy either, given all she’d dealt with. Mariah was glad that Faith got to focus on normal teenage stuff now. Mariah was touched by what Tessa said about their relationship. Mariah knew she put their relationship to the test the last few months. Mariah said Tessa didn’t have to be strong for both of them anymore. Mariah was back on her A game. Mariah admitted she’d been scared about Dom being sick, and it made her wonder what would happen if their future child got sick, if they even got to be parents. Mariah said her talent was worrying about things that hadn’t happened. Tessa said the world was scary, and that was why she was glad to have a partner to help her through it. She was glad to return the favor. They hugged.

Faith and Sharon went to the patio and talked about Cindy. Sharon thought Cindy seemed fun, and she said Noah seemed to be meeting a lot of new people in town. Faith thought it would be nice if Noah found someone. She said maybe seeing Mariah and Tessa happy put the idea of settling down into Noah’s head. Noah walked out and said no one was looking to settle down. Noah thought Sharon and Faith needed something more exciting to talk about. Faith said Noah didn’t have to settle down with Cindy – love could be scary, but you had to be brave. Faith said she was going to go vet Cindy, and she went inside. Noah had a feeling what Sharon was thinking. He conceded that he’d been with the woman from Walnut Grove the other day, and now Cindy tonight, but he was young, and he was supposed to go out and have fun. He asked her not to make this weird or find a reason to worry about him.

Inside Crimson Lights, Faith thought it was interesting that Cindy was a social media influencer. Tessa walked in, and Cindy was starstruck. She knew every lyric and she’d been to almost all Tessa’s concerts in the area. Tessa thought she’d seen Cindy at some of the shows. Cindy was sure Tessa was just humoring her. Tessa said that Cindy had a friendly smile, and she was usually drawn to people like that when she was performing. Cindy squealed in delight. Noah and Sharon returned. Cindy wrapped her arm around Noah again and told him that this was turning into one of the best dates of her life. Cindy said she and Noah were going to the club on market street, and she invited Tessa and her fiancee to come along. Noah was sure they had plans.

Cindy asked Noah if he was having as good a time as she was. Before he could fully say he was, Cindy screamed because “the other half of Teriah” arrived. Cindy couldn’t believe this was happening. Noah said Mariah was his sister. Cindy read online about Mariah getting on stage and professing her love for Tessa. “I died!,” she exclaimed. Cindy asked Noah to get her another espresso. Cindy wanted Mariah to tell her all about her relationship with Tessa.

Tessa told Noah that Cindy seemed cool. He said he forgot what he was missing being by himself so much. He told her that, like Faith said, Tessa and Mariah were couple-goals. He was trying to have some fun, and he’d leave the true love to the experts.

Recap written by Christine

Jack looked at a picture of Keemo with some other women. He commented that his son looked so happy. Jack recognized Mai, Keemo’s half sister, but he didn’t know who the other two people were. Jack was frustrated because he wasn’t sure what to make of all this – lured here by an anonymous person, who had now gone radio silent. Phyllis suggested that this person just wanted to point Jack in the right direction.

Jack and Phyllis decided to go through Keemo’s box again and look for clues. Phyllis pulled out a silk scarf, and Jack took it from her. She asked if he recognized it. He didn’t, and that was the issue. He didn’t know anything about Keemo. To Jack, it was one thing to read letters Keemo addressed to him, but it was another to be rifling through through Keemo’s most prized possessions. Phyllis noted that Jack was going back and forth between being curious and feeling like he was violating Keemo’s memory. She bluntly told him that Keemo was gone. She said this box wasn’t left here by accident – the person who sent the texts wanted him to go through it. She understood if he didn’t want her to go through this with him. She was trying to be supportive. She told him he couldn’t give up. She thought the answers he was looking for were here.

Phyllis thought they should go rest and get some food. Jack said that was a good idea, but he went back to the box. He found tickets to a Broadway show and wondered who Keemo took with him. He found more postcards from Vietnam, a decoration from a wedding, and a necklace. Jack flashed back to giving that necklace to Luan on Christmas 1995. She wished she’d found something good to give him. He said she already gave him the greatest gift of all – the son he’d always wanted.

Jack told Phyllis about giving the gift to Luan. After she died, Jack sent it to Keemo, along with some other keepsakes. Jack found a picture of himself and Luan at their wedding in the box. He cried because it was a sign that Keemo never completely erased Jack from his life.

Jack thought he’d lost Luan forever, but the stars aligned and they found each other. Keemo had been hurt when they tracked him down at first – he felt abandoned. Jack won Keemo over, and he’d been the best man at the wedding. That was why it hurt more when Keemo cut Jack out. The wedding had been a mix of American and Vietnamese traditions. Luan wore red. There was a flashback to the wedding. In the present, Jack said that it was a miracle that he found Luan. Again. “We were supposed to spend the rest of our lives together as a family.

Jack found a statement of paternity in Keemo’s things. It was something Jack had drawn up and gave to Keemo after the wedding. Phyllis said it must’ve meant something to Keemo. It made Jack wonder if he and Keemo could’ve reconciled if they’d seen each other face to face. Phyllis saw no need for Jack to torture himself with what-ifs. Jack still wondered what if he’d disregarded all those angry emails and stood firm. He said it was a parent’s job to know when your child needed you to push back and see that there were needs underneath all that anger. Phyllis didn’t think Jack should go down that path. It was also hard for her to watch him struggle with this when there was no solution. He wasn’t sure he could get closure without asking the tough questions. She understood, but she didn’t think this was the time. She thought they should deal with the real reason they came here – figuring out who was sending the texts. He agreed that they should focus. He picked up the photo again, and she wondered if one of the women in it was sending the text messages.

Found another doctor who gave info to Baldwin. Took care of all three of them,” the text Ashland received said. Victoria was waiting for Ashland when he walked into the office. She wondered what took him so long, since they both left Crimson Lights at the same time. He said he got caught up by a traffic light. Earlier, he’d told her that there was something he needed to tell her about her father. Victoria wanted to know what was going on. She asked what Victor said to him in private.

Ashland was hesitant because Victoria was close to her dad. She said he knew she had a complicated relationship with her father, and she didn’t need to be protected from his latest machinations. Ashland told Victoria that some quack was saying he’d lied about his treatment and falsified medical records and faked cancer. Ashland said that, for some reason, Victor trusted this person. Victoria thought that was insane. Ashland said it got worse – Victor was threatening to tell Victoria all this if Ashland didn’t disappear from her life. Ashland was adamant that he did not fake his cancer. Victoria said this was outrageous. Ashland agreed, and that was why he was telling her this. He didn’t trust her father. Ashland didn’t want Victoria to hear this news from anyone else. Victoria asked why Victor suddenly turned on Ashland. Ashland didn’t know, unless Victor honestly believed the lies from this horrible doctor. Victoria said she met with Ashland’s oncologist in NY, and she’d seen his medical records – there was no doubt he had cancer. Victoria was sure her father would come to her if he really believed this, so she couldn’t imagine what Victor was thinking.

Ashland said Victor was a protective father and protective mogul, and maybe he didn’t want someone without Newman blood running the company. Victoria said people outside the family had been the CEO of Newman Enterprises. Ashland said Victor might want him out of the company. Victoria couldn’t believe her father would think she would find Ashland capable of doing something like this. He said that he’d been called the Locke Ness Monster. She hated the name – it bore no resemblance to the man she loved. He said the name fit like a glove once, but he changed because of her.

Victoria said Ashland was self-made, and she had nothing to do with the man he’d become. He thought she underestimated the effect she’d had on him. She said he’d gone through a lot, and it gave him a new perspective. He agreed, but he said their love made him a better man. He was eternally grateful she’d banished that other side of him forever. She’d learned that you couldn’t change a person unless they wanted to be changed. She knew he’d made bad choices, but so had her family, her father chief among them. That was why she couldn’t believe and accept that Victor turned on her and Ashland.

At Newman Media, Sally had been hesitant about leaving fashion for the business world, but she found this invigorating. Sally shifted gears and asked Adam how he thought Victoria was doing. She noted that he’d said Victoria might be headed for heartbreak. At that point, Victor showed up wanting a private word with his son. Sally said she’d go to Society, and Adam said he’d join her when he was finished. She left. Victor hoped Adam kept the details of Ashland’s latest deception to himself. Adam saw that Sally and Adam were close, and she wasn’t known for her deception. Adam hadn’t said a word about Ashland faking his illness. Victor told Ashland to get out of town and leave Victoria, or else Victor would tell her everything.

Victor said that if Victoria found out Ashland used her for the merger, she’d be devastated. Adam said that she’d be devastated either way, unless Nick was right and Victoria forgave Ashland for this, just as she forgave him for everything else. Victor didn’t think that would happen, but he was trying to protect the family by insisting that Ashland get out of town. Victor thought that it would be easier for Victoria to get over being left than to learn that Ashland used her and that the wedding was all a ruse.

Victor said he hadn’t been able to contact Michael since he confronted Ashland. Michael had assured Victor that he was sending all the pertinent information by courier. Victor got a call from an investigator. Michael and the two Peruvian doctors had disappeared. Adam wondered if Ashland got to them. Victor said he was going to deal with it.

Lauren and Chloe were at Society. Lauren was missing Michael. She’d been hesitant about him taking this job for Victor, because she knew it would take a lot of time, but now he was in Peru, and he kept saying he was coming home soon, but that clearly wasn’t true. She’d been trying to contact him since last night, but he wasn’t responding. Chloe said, if Michael was anything like Kevin, he didn’t like texting at work. Lauren sent another text. Lauren needed a distraction, so she asked how Chloe and Chelsea were coming along with the Sally-free fashion label. Chloe said that she and Chelsea were a little behind for the summer deadline, but Chelsea had pulled strings, and she thought they’d meet their goals. Sally walked in and asked how Chloe’s new line was going. Chloe said it was in the beginning stages, but it was going great. Chloe asked about Sally’s job. Sally found her new niche – she was good at business, and she and Adam made a great team.

Lauren excused herself. Sally wondered if it was something she said. “No doubt,” Chloe said. Chloe was happy Lauren stepped away though, because she wanted to talk to Sally. Chloe loved working with Sally, and she was proud of what they created at Newman Fashion. Sally said things had been great until Chelsea got involved. Sally really enjoyed working with Chloe too, and she was sorry it didn’t last, but it seemed like everyone landed where they were supposed to. Chloe hoped Sally hadn’t given up on her dreams. Sally saw Adam walking in and said she hadn’t given up on them at all.

Adam asked if Lauren heard from Michael. Lauren said that, since Michael was on business for Adam’s father, it seemed like they’d know more about what Michael was doing than she did. Adam was sure Lauren talked to Michael more often than Victor did. Adam and Sally went to their table. Lauren was feeling even more worried after Adam’s fake nonchalance. She called Victor and asked if he’d talked to Michael. He said he had been in regular contact with him. She asked him to tell Michael to call her the next time they talked. The call ended. Lauren told Chloe that she didn’t feel any better.

Sally thought she should be included on what was going on with the Newmans, since she worked at the family business. Adam told Sally not to push it. He told her that, for her own protection, she didn’t want to be anywhere near this, because it might not turn out how Victor hoped. She asked if Adam would be affected if Victor’s plan failed. Adam doubted it would effect him in a bad way. He said that if Victor miscalculated and it created a rift with Victoria, the dynamic might change at Newman Locke, which might work in Adam’s favor.

Victor called Ashland. “No more stalling. You have one hour or I take everything I know straight to Victoria,” Victor threatened. “Do it. I’m not going anywhere,” Ashland replied.

Recap written by Christine

In LA, Phyllis supported Jack worked through his grief about Keemo and sorted through the box of Keemo’s belongings. Through flashbacks, Jack told Phyllis about his life with Luan. He was touched when he discovered a picture of himself with Luan that Keemo had kept. Jack was curious about the women in the picture with Keemo. He wondered if one of them was behind the texts. Ashland received an ominous text stating that Michael and the doctors who gave him information had been taken care of. Ashland told Victoria that Victor had been taken in by some quack who was saying Ashland never had cancer. Victoria was sure Ashland had cancer, as she’d talked to his oncologist in NY. Victoria didn’t understand why Victor would think such a thing or turn on her and Ashland.

Sally was happy about making the jump to the business world. Victor let Adam know about the ultimatum he gave Ashland. Adam wasn’t sure Victor’s plan would work. Lauren was becoming worried because she hadn’t been able to reach Michael. Chloe tried to keep Lauren positive. Victor got a call from his investigator saying that Michael and the two Peruvian doctors had disappeared. However, when Lauren called Victor to ask about Michael, he didn’t disclose what he’d learned. Sally and Chloe wished each other well in their new jobs. Sally tried to get Adam to give her the details on the Newman family drama, and he told her that, for her own good, it was best that she didn’t know. Adam thought that if Victor’s plan failed, it would cause a rift with Victor and Victoria, and that might work in Adam’s favor.
