Recap written by Christine

Adam told Chelsea that it was inevitable that she was going to leave him, because of who he was, so it was best that they broke up now. Chelsea vehemently disagreed with his view, but he walked out on her. Sharon had a dream that Adam wanted to be there for her, like she’d been for him. In the dream, Sharon told Adam she was just doing her job, but he told her they both knew it was more than that. In real life, Adam came to visit Sharon. Sharon told him that she had to stop treating him, because she needed to make things right with Rey. Adam was okay with that, because he’d come to cancel their therapy sessions. She wanted him to seek out another therapist, but he intended to try and go it on his own. Summer set up a romantic evening to welcome Kyle back from his trip. As they talked about their commitment to each other, they realized they were already technically engaged, in their hearts. They decided not to tell anyone else about the engagement. Kyle made Summer a temporary ring out of a twist tie. Theo went by Society, thinking he wouldn’t see Lola, since she’d said she was tired and going to rest. She was there, though, and they talked through their issues, but another problem cropped up when Lola inferred that Theo was saying he was interested in her because she was Kyle’s ex. Theo said he didn’t mean it that way, but Lola asked him to leave, so he did.

Jack and Billy ran into Nikki and Victoria at Crimson Lights. Billy confided that he was going to do an explosive story on the Newmans. Jack unsuccessfully tried to convince Billy not to go up against Victor. Nikki told Victoria that Victor had regrets over how his decisions affected Adam’s life. Nikki was worried for Victor, but Victoria was unsympathetic. She felt that Victor had regrets about the way he’d handled Adam, but he didn’t regret the way he’d treated her over the past few months. Victoria said she was finished with Victor. Nikki thought Victoria would one day realize the importance of family and that family wasn’t forever. Nikki also mentioned that Alyssa was back. Billy and Victoria talked about Alyssa’s return. Billy had offered Alyssa a job, and she didn’t take it, but he thought he could sway her eventually. Victoria offered to help with Alyssa, but Billy thought he could handle it. Victoria expected the article to have fallout for Newman Enterprises, but she was sure that she could help the company weather the storm. Billy was impressed Victoria hadn’t forgiven Victor this time. Victoria said that wasn’t the kind of woman she was anymore.

Days of Our Lives logo

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Hope went to Eve and told her what happened to Ciara. She let her know that she didn’t tell Vincent to go plant a bomb in the car. Hope talked to her about Vincent’s agenda for going after Ben. Lani hoped Eli would look the other way and not go after Kristen. Eli arrested Kristen and she told him anything she could think of to get out of being arrested. John woke up, but he couldn’t remember Brady and Marlena. Kristen told Eli that Lani wouldn’t forgive him if he arrested her. She reminded him that he would be married to Gabi if she didn’t convince Lani to go after him. She wanted him to act as if he never saw her. Lani showed up at Kristen’s door. Hope told Eve that the firefighters only found Ciara’s engagement and wedding rings.

Lani took Rachel to Kristen’s place and saw Eli there. Kristen thought she got through to him, but he ended up arresting her. Marlena filled John in on some details of their lives together. John got his memory back and Brady and Marlena were relieved. Eli took Kristen to the station. Lani was upset when she saw Eli. Brady wanted to give John and Marlena some time alone so he wanted to call Kristen at the Salem Inn. Marlena was surprised that Kristen was in Salem. Lani was upset that Eli lied to her and arrested Kristen. He explained why he decided to arrest Kristen. She thought he used a personal conversation and used it to look like a hero. Kristen called Brady. He told her how John was awake. She was glad for him, but she said she was arrested.

    SHREK 2 – Saturday, September 19 at 3:00pm ET/PT
After battling a fire-breathing dragon and the evil Lord Farquaad to win the hand of Princess Fiona, Shrek now faces his greatest challenge: the in-laws. Shrek and Princess Fiona return from their honeymoon to find an invitation to visit Fiona’s parents, the King and Queen of the Kingdom of Far, Far Away. With Donkey along for the ride, the newlyweds set off. All of the citizens of Far, Far Away turn out to greet their returning Princess, and her parents happily anticipate the homecoming of their daughter and her new Prince. But no one could have prepared them for the sight of their new son-in-law, not to mention how much their little girl had changed. Little did Shrek and Fiona know that their marriage had foiled all of her father’s plans for her future–and his own. Now the King must enlist the help of a powerful Fairy Godmother, the handsome Prince Charming and that famed ogre killer Puss In Boots to put right his version of happily ever after.
SHREK THE THIRD – Saturday, September 19 at 5:00pm ET/PT
Being king isn’t for everyone–especially if you’re a prickly ogre who smells like the shallow end of a swamp. When Shrek married Fiona, the last thing he wanted was to rule Far Far Away, but when his frogger-in-law, King Harold, suddenly croaks, Shrek is quickly fitted for the crown. Now, unless the reluctant would-be king can find a suitable replacement, he’ll be royally screwed for the rest of his days. As if Shrek didn’t have enough on his plate, Princess Fiona has another little surprise on the way. With his head spinning and his belly in knots, Shrek sets off on a quest to find the only other possible heir to the throne, Fiona’s long-lost cousin Artie, an underachieving medieval high schooler. While the ogre is away, his old nemesis Prince Charming rears his handsome head and returns to the kingdom of Far Far Away with redemption on his shallow little mind. Even with Donkey and the ever-so-suave Puss-in-Boots by their side, it’s going to take an ogre-sized effort–and a whole lot of help from Fiona and her band of princesses–for Shrek and Artie to save the day and find their own “Happily Ever After.”
SHREK FOREVER AFTER – Saturday, September 19 at 7:00pm ET/PT
Long-settled into married life and fully domesticated, Shrek begins to long for the days when he felt like a real ogre. Duped into signing a contract with devious Rumpelstiltskin, he finds himself in an alternate version of Far Far Away, where ogres are hunted, Rumpelstiltskin rules, and he and Fiona have never met. Shrek must find a way out of the contract to restore his world and reclaim his true love.

I had never seen or heard of this Cartoon Network series before. I have no idea if the movie is comparable or not, but it’s a fun movie that people of all ages can enjoy. Unlike many Cartoon Network shows, it doesn’t have violence, bad language, etc. It’s a cute show about some bears who are friends and hang out together as brothers. One is a grizzly, one is a panda, and one is a polar bear. It ran for four seasons until last year. I’m glad they were able to make this movie. I hope it’s successful and that they can make more. The series was based on a web series and the TV show is an international series.

The three bears, Grizz, Panda and Ice, are bears that try to live in San Francisco along with humans.  In this movie, we see how they first got together when they were very young bears.  When the bears rush through the city, knocking people and things over, they get humans angry at them. One of the things that the bears do is “stack,” i.e. stand on top of one another, which humans find to be strange.  An evil wild life control agent named Trout wants to separate them and them back to the wild (voiced by Marc Evan Jackson, who played the evil Shawn in “The Good Place”), so the bears go on the run. It’s a good story and has many characters, including their friend, Officer Murphy, the park ranger. You may also recognize the famous voices of Ellie Kemper, Jason Lee, and Patton Oswalt.

This would make a great present for anyone who enjoys animated shows (especially children). The DVD has a lot of great extras for those who are really into these characters. Check them out below!

Primetime DVD Review: “Bull – Season 4”

DVD Review!

Bull: Season 4 DVD cover

“Bull: Season 4” Review by Suzanne 9/12/20

I don’t normally watch this show, but I love Michael Weatherly (who plays the title role). The rest of the cast is good, too. I think they’ve really improved it a lot since the first season, when I saw a few episodes and wasn’t thrilled with it. Sometimes it takes a while for a show to really build what it’s going to be.

A lot happens this season as Bull prepares for father hood with his ex-wife, Izzy (Yara Martinez) and has to make up with her brother, Benny (Freddy Rodriguez).  Benny is his main lawyer, and he can’t win trials without him. The two had a falling out in the previous season.

The writers keep the show exciting with many interesting cases, and there is also a lot of humor and fun dialogue between the characters (when the show is not being heavily dramatic).  Their cases vary between murder, wrongful death, fraud, assault, negligence and more. I like that this show focuses on the jury and voir dire. So few legal shows do.

Anyone who enjoys drama should like the show. Like most series this year, it was cut short due to COVID, so there are only 20 episodes instead of 22. That’s still a lot of great TV episodes to watch, but it means that the final episode was not meant to be the final episode. There is no cliffhanger or any kind of feeling that it’s the last episode of the season.

There are only two main features. They have audio commentary on two of the episodes, and a “behind the scenes” feature about the season. It’s done well, despite the fact that many of the actors were obviously being filmed via remote camera.

One thing I always appreciate about CBS videos is that they have the “Play All” choice, which makes it easier to go through all of the episodes. Also, they have the extras on the last DVD rather than making you have to go through all of the discs to find them.

MORE INFORMATION:

Coming to your home screen this September are two hit TV shows from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment.

Action-packed crime drama Magnum P.I.: Season Two will be arriving on DVD this year on  September 1. Starring Jay Hernandez as Tom Magnum, an American hero and Navy SEAL returning from war who uses his military skills to become a private investigator in Oahu, Hawaii.

Dr. Jason Bull and his psychological tricks are back again when Bull: Season Four arrives on DVD on September 8. Starring Michael Weatherly, Dr. Bull uses his psychological skills and high-tech data to persuade the jury, witnesses, attorneys. His sharp-witted charm and tactics leaves clients uneasy, that is until they are proven not guilty and walk out the courtroom free.

Bull: Season Four
Street Date: September 8, 2020
Format: DVD
Description: BULL stars Michael Weatherly as Dr. Jason Bull in a drama inspired by the early career of Dr. Phil McGraw, the founder of one of the most prolific trial-consulting firms of all time. Brilliant, brash and charming, Dr. Bull is the ultimate puppet master as he combines psychology, human intuition and high-tech data to learn what makes jurors, attorneys, witnesses and the accused tick. His personal life proves harder to manage as he tries to live a healthier lifestyle following a heart attack and learns he is expecting a child with his ex-wife. Bull employs an enviable team of experts at Trial Analysis Corporation to shape successful narratives down to the very last detail. This includes his quick-witted former brother-in-law, Benny Colón, a lawyer who acts as defense attorney in the company’s mock trials; Marissa Morgan, a neurolinguistics expert from the Department of Homeland Security who monitors shifting jury reactions in real-time for Bull; former NYPD detective Danny James, the firm’s tough but relatable investigator; Taylor Rentzel, a working mother and former colleague of Marissa’s who is an expert in coding and computer hacking; and Chunk Palmer, a former all-American lineman and stylist-turned-law student who helps clients prepare their look and testimony for trial. In high-stakes trials, Bull’s combination of remarkable insight into human nature, three Ph.D.’s and a top-notch staff creates winning strategies that tip the scales of justice in his clients’ favor.

    SEASON FINALE
ABC PRESENTS A TWO-HOUR ‘WHAT WOULD YOU DO?’ EVENT WITH THE SEASON FINALE KICKING OFF THE NIGHT FOLLOWED BY A NEW HOUR – INSPIRED BY A CLASSIC ‘WWYD?’ SCENARIO – EXPLORING WHY PEOPLE LIE
Episode Also Tackles Bisexuality, Gender Stereotypes in Sports, and More
Two- Hour ‘What Would You Do?’ Event Airs Tuesday, Sept. 8 (9:00-11:00 EDT), on ABC
ABC presents a two-hour television event beginning with the powerful season finale of ABC’s hit show “What Would You Do?,” followed by a compelling new hour that confronts the moral dilemma of lying. Inspired by the classic “WWYD?” scenario involving a woman asking a stranger to pretend to be her boyfriend to please her nosy mother, the new hour asks the provocative question, when is it okay to lie? Kicking off the night, “What Would You Do?” with anchor John Quiñones features emotional scenarios on bisexuality, gender stereotypes in sports, and more. Then, ABC News’ Gio Benitez hosts “Would You Lie For Me?” which captures with hidden cameras jaw-dropping moments as real people are asked to lie for complete strangers. Will bystanders lie to help protect a boy from being bullied? Will people pretend to be a marriage coach for a husband whose relationship is on the rocks? The two-hour “What Would You Do?” event airs Tuesday, Sept. 8 (9:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC.
“What Would You Do?” scenarios airing at 9:00 p.m. EDT include the following:
    · A young man comes out to his friends as bisexual. His friends question his sexual orientation saying, “You can just say you’re gay. You don’t have to hide behind bisexuality.” What will bystanders do? How will people react when we twist the scenario and the friend questioning his bisexuality is gay?
    · At the batting cages, a girl is trying to better her baseball game. Her father disapproves, telling her, “Girls don’t play baseball.” The girl is determined to prove to her dad that she can compete with the boys. Will others come to her defense?
    · A newly engaged woman is out to lunch with her friend, showing off her ring. The friend is appalled at how small the diamond is. Will fellow diners step in to stop the bullying?
    · Two grandmothers are out to lunch with their granddaughters. As the grandmothers start posing for photos and posting them to social media, the granddaughters become embarrassed and beg them to act their age. The grandmothers refuse. Whose side will fellow diners take?
“Would You Lie For Me?” scenarios airing at 10:00 p.m. EDT include the following:
    · A young boy at an ice cream shop needs help fending off bullies. After bystanders agree to help him, the boy tells his bullies, “This is my karate instructor.” Will they go along with the fib? Will they still support the boy later when he takes a bolt cutter to a locked bike?
. A focus group is reviewing a product that does not work. When they overhear the other participants lying about the product’s effectiveness, will they lie too? The salesman then asks if they will pretend to be a marriage coach for an uncomfortable meeting with his wife. Will anyone agree? If they do, will they give marriage advice?
    · A woman in a restaurant is waiting for her meddling mother who is in town for the weekend. To keep her mom off her back, the woman asks total strangers to pretend to be her boyfriend. Will they say yes? If they agree, how far will they take the lie when the mother asks them about their job as a cardiologist? This scenario originally aired on “What Would You Do?” and inspired the primetime special.

Twelve “Holey Moley” finalists return to the course to face off on four of the toughest holes, but at the end of the night, only one will emerge victorious and be crowned the grand champion of “Holey Moley.” On The Distractor, the distraction is none other than Michael Winslow of “Police Academy” fame, AKA “The Man of 10,000 Sound Effects,” where he uses self-made sound effects to prevent the contestants from making their 12-foot putts. Plus, the outrageous, never-before-seen hole, Clowning Around, makes its debut as competitors attempt to make a shot from upside-down, or else be faced with a pie in the face. It all leads up to the highly anticipated hole, Stephen Curry’s masterpiece, the Tomb of Nefer-Tee-Tee. The first finalist to sink a 100-foot hole-in-one will open the tomb to claim their $250K prize and spot in history as the “Holey Moley II: The Sequel” champion on the season finale of “Holey Moley” airing THURSDAY, SEPT. 10 (8:00-9:00 P.M. HBO Original Comedy Series CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM Returns For Its Twelfth And Final Season February 4

Older news:

From 8/23 press release: HBO Renews CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM For A Twelfth Season
HBO has renewed the Emmy® and Golden Globe-winning comedy series CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, starring Larry David, for a twelfth season.
Originally debuting on HBO in 2001 and with 110 completed episodes to date, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM stars “Seinfeld” co-creator David as an over-the-top version of himself in an unsparing but tongue-in-cheek depiction of his fictionalized life. The series also stars Jeff Garlin, Susie Essman, J.B. Smoove, Cheryl Hines, Richard Lewis, Vince Vaughn, and Ted Danson.
Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming quote: “Larry outdoes himself season after season and always manages to come back when the audience needs him most. We’re thrilled for him, Jeff Schaffer, and our phenomenal cast to continue making us laugh and cringe in equal measure.”
Larry David quote: “Playing the role of Larry David has been the greatest honor of my life. In researching this multi-faceted, multi-talented man, I discovered that there’s more to him than I ever could have imagined: He speaks six languages, brines his own pickles, and spearheads a national movement to install a bidet in every home. I’ve also been told from numerous sources that he is the most generous of lovers. I am so excited to once again transform into this force of nature. I only pray that I can do him justice.”
The comedy series continues to prove how seemingly trivial details of one’s day-to-day life can precipitate a catastrophic chain of events. To keep the narrative spontaneous, the series is shot without a script and cast members are given scene outlines and improvise lines as they go.
Season 12 Credits: CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM is created by Larry David; executive producers, Larry David, Jeff Garlin, Jeff Schaffer; co-executive producers, Laura Streicher, Jennifer Corey.

Larry David On His ‘Seinfeld’ Fortune: “I Don’t Have That Kind Of Money”

60 Minutes: Who Is Larry David?

DESPITE THE LAUGHS, THE MONEY AND FAME, LARRY DAVID SAYS HE STILL COULDN’T WALK UP TO A WOMAN IN A BAR – “60 MINUTES” SUNDAY
He’s made untold millions laugh. He’s a celebrity worth many millions of dollars. Yet Larry David says he couldn’t walk up to a woman in a bar and say hello. That’s what the famous comedy and television star tells Charlie Rose in a dynamic and humorous interview to be broadcast on 60 MINUTES Sunday, March 1 (7:00-8:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Asked by Rose whether his success as the co-creator of “Seinfeld” and the star of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” changed him, perhaps has given him confidence, he says, “It gave me something that I didn’t have, but not in the way that people think… like a total transformation.
“It wasn’t that at all,” he tells Rose, saying he is still the guy in certain ways that he always was. “I still… to this day, I still couldn’t walk up to a woman at a bar and say hello… I don’t have that.” Watch the excerpt.
David shows plenty of confidence acting each night in previews of his own hit comedy play, “Fish in the Dark,”” which opens on Broadway next week. But he tells Rose of his childhood, where he says he never joined anything and his mother showed little faith in him.
“In junior high school and high school I did not participate in anything,” says David. “I didn’t even know, I swear to you, I didn’t even know there was a prom.”
This lack of confidence was compounded by the fact his mother didn’t have high ambitions for her son. “A mailman… she wanted me to work in the post office… that was her dream,” he tells Rose. “It said a lot to me. It wasn’t only that she said that. That’s how I felt about it.
“Zero, zero belief in myself. And it’s changed somewhat, but there’s still a lot of that in me,” says David.
Rose’s profile includes footage from the new play and clips from David’s television program. 60 MINUTES also takes David back to his old apartment and his junior high school in Brooklyn.
