Sharon: Hey, chance. Merry christmas.

Chance: Merry christmas to you. I am here reporting for volunteer duty. Am I late?

Sharon: Actually, noah and mariah and tessa were here earlier packing up food and gifts for the local shelter. They just finished a lot sooner than they thought they would.

Chance: You’re kidding. I am — I’m so sorry. I, uh — I really wanted to help out today, sharon. I figured it’d be a good use of my time between shifts.

Sharon: Yeah, I remember you said you’d be working a lot over the holiday. Did you get a chance to spend some time with dom?

Chance: Yeah, we did christmas eve together, which was great. It was a good time. But, uh, he spent the night with abby, and he’s with her today, too.

Sharon: Well, since you’re here, I could use some help cleaning up. And I could throw in a pot of coffee and some food in return.

Chance: You got yourself a deal.

Abby: [ Gasps ] Happy holidays!

Nate: Happy holidays.

Abby: Hi!

Elena: Ooh, same to you! Did you guys have a good christmas morning?

Abby: We did. I think I might have gone a little overboard with the presents, though.

Elena: How could you not with this little guy?

Nate: Best day of the year, right?

Abby: He thinks so. Although I think he was more interested in the wrapping paper than the gifts themselves.

[ Laughter ]

Elena: Stop. That is so adorable.

Abby: What are you guys up to today?

Elena: Well, thankfully, I am not on call. So, we had a nice little walk in the snow, and now we are looking forward to a peaceful afternoon. How about you? Is chance still working?

Abby: I’m not sure if you guys know, but, um — well, I guess you don’T. Uh, chance and I — we’re getting a divorce.

Elena: Abby. I’m so sorry.

Nate: Wow. This is sad news. I hope you’re doing okay.

[ Door opens ]

Devon: Hey. Thought I heard you out here. Come on in.

Abby: [ Chuckles ]

Elena: Bye.

Nate: [ Sighs ]

[ Doorknob rattles, lock disengages ]

Traci: Could dominic have been any cuter this morning? Seriously.

Ashley: It was such a gift to see christmas through his eyes.

Traci: [ Laughs ]

Jack: Nice to see abby enjoying herself, too.

Ashley: Yeah, well, it’s difficult for her, splitting with chance right now, but she’s determined to give her little boy a beautiful holiday.

Traci: Yeah. She — she seems like she’s holding everything together well.

Ashley: I think she’s stronger than even she knew she was.

Traci: Well, it’s just a shame that she and dom had to leave before kyle and summer and harrison got back from their christmas eve getaway.

Ashley: Yeah. True. I would have loved to have seen them interact.

Traci: Mm-hmm. It is adorable, though, that they took harrison on a santa scouting mission.

[ Chuckles ] I’m sure they’re having a blast playing in the snow and cuddling under blankets and drinking hot cocoa. I just… I just thought they’d be home by now.

Ashley: Me too.

Traci: Yeah.

Ashley: So, jack, you must know where kyle is, huh? What’s keeping him?

Jack: Actually, I haven’t heard from kyle. I don’t know that they had a specific time in mind for their return. I think they just planned on getting home today.

Traci: Well, I don’t want to assume anything, but I have to wonder. Maybe they’re avoiding coming home because it’s upsetting for them to be here with diane gone.

Jack: Well, I just hope they’re having a fun time together, the three of them. And maybe you’re right. Maybe there is an escape in all of it. Whatever they’re doing right now, it’s got to be a lot more fun than sitting here constantly worried what’s going to happen next now that jeremy stark has made his surprise arrival. I wish that had never happened to begin with.

Diane: How awesome is it that santa brought you so many things from your wish list? You must have been a very good boy.

Summer: He has been a perfect angel, and I feel pretty lucky, too. I love these fuzzy slippers that you picked out for me.

Kyle: [ Laughs ]

Summer: This has been the best adventure ever, huh?

Kyle: What a great surprise it was to visit dee dee. It was worth driving super far to visit her in her special christmas place. But we should probably keep that to ourselves. We don’t want anyone else getting jealous that we got to see her and no one else did. Does that sound like a plan?

Diane: I am in heaven right now. I kind of expected that I’d be alone this christmas, like i have been for so many. So, to be here with you right now is the greatest gift I could get. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. So, hey, what do you want to do now? Do you want to play with one of your new games?

Harrison: I want to build a snowman.

Diane: Pbht! I guess he knows what he wants. I like it.

Kyle: You done with your presents? Well, who can blame you after the way it snowed all night? Snowman it is. Your wish is my command.

Diane: Alright. Hey. Whoa. Let’s go get your coat. This way. Come on.

Devon: He fell asleep before his head even hit the pillow.

Abby: Ah. He’s exhausted. Thank you so much for all of these presents. And please thank auntie lily, too.

Devon: Of course. Of course. She had so much fun hanging out with him for christmas eve. It was so cool to see. You know, last year he was so young, he didn’t really know what was going on, but this year he got to experience it in a whole new way. It was fun to watch.

Abby: Mm. I agree. It was just so sweet to see him filled with so much christmas spirit and just surrounded by so many people in his family that love him, yesterday and today.

Devon: Yeah. Did he get to see chance?

Abby: Yeah, we saw him last night. And I think it just shows dominic that, no matter what’s going on, this holiday is all about family. But from what I saw when we came in, I think maybe his daddy lost sight of that.

Elena: Nate.

[ Singsong voice ] Hello? Nate? A little something to warm you up?

Nate: Mmm. Thank you.

Elena: Where’d you go just then?

Nate: I was thinking about what abby told us about her and chance.

Elena: Ah. Yeah. I feel for both of them, especially after everything they’ve been through. I thought they were solid.

Nate: Me too. I wonder what happened. Must have been something pretty intense for them to just split up.

Elena: Yeah, I guess you never really know what’s going on in someone else’s marriage.

Nate: True. But I have a theory. Remember when I told you about devon and amanda’s breakup?

Elena: Yeah, and now amanda’s staying in virginia. That was pretty shocking, too.

Nate: Especially because it seemed to just come out of the blue, just like this news with abby and chance’s divorce. And now abby is spending christmas day with devon?

Elena: Are you saying you think there’s something going on between devon and abby?

[ Chuckles ] Whoa. You are jumping to a huge conclusion.

Nate: When I tried to talk to devon about his breakup, he got extremely defensive and shut me down.

Elena: Yeah, I’m sure because it’s incredibly personal and you two aren’t on the best of terms. Don’t take this the wrong way, but I’m assuming that you didn’t handle the topic with the level of sensitivity that you might have if you hadn’t had a falling-out.

Nate: You might be right, but what about abby showing up today, out of all days?

Elena: She brought dom to see his other father on christmas. And I’m sure with the divorce, she wanted to spend time with her friends.

Nate: You really don’t think there’s more to it?

Elena: What I think is irrelevant because it’s none of my business — or yours. I don’t get why you’re even spending the time to speculate about this.

Nate: Because devon has gone out of his way to condemn me for being deceitful and duplicitous. I’m wondering if the same could be said about him.

Abby: Okay, stop stalling. Fill me in on you and nate. I was hoping that you guys would be in a better place by now.

Devon: Yeah? I don’t know why. I don’t know why you would think that after everything he’s done. His latest move is trying to find out what happened between me and amanda and pass it off as being concerned about me.

Abby: Are you sure that he’s not just trying to reconnect?

Devon: I don’t care if that is what he’s trying to do. Digging into my personal business isn’t the way to go about it. He seems very suspicious of the reason that amanda and I broke up, and I feel like he’s trying to find something to use against me as retaliation. So, if anyone’s forgotten what this holiday is about, it’s not me.

Tucker: Ho, ho, ho.

Ashley: Well, you’re kind of late, aren’t you, santa?

Tucker: [ Sighs ]

[ Feet stomping ] Hello.

[ Door closes ]

Ashley: Don’t you think this is a little much?

Tucker: Well, you know I like to go big.

Jack: Well, thank you for sparing us the helicopter this time.

Tucker: Oh, well, my sleigh is out front.

[ Laughs ] Hope you don’t mind my dropping by. I got presents for everyone in the family.

Ashley: Aww, that’s very generous of you.

Jack: And quite unnecessary.

Tucker: I realize that.

Jack: Well, we don’t have anything for you under our tree.

Tucker: I wouldn’t expect that. Uh, no, I just got a little caught up in the spirit of the season, you know, the joy in giving and not receiving and all that.

Traci: Well, thank you so much, tucker, for the gifts. If you had hoped to hand-deliver something to dominic, I’m sorry — [Chuckles] I’m sorry, but they’ve already gone.

Tucker: Oh, no, that’s okay. I’m gonna see dominic later at devon’S. Um, which means my day is free. And I was hoping maybe you would agree to have lunch with me? Although I don’t want to impose on any abbott family time here.

Ashley: Not at all. I mean, well, we’re having a very quiet christmas, so… yeah, I would actually really like to get out of the house. Let’s go. Bye, you guys.

Tucker: Okay. See ya. Merry christmas.

Jack: Merry christmas.

Ashley: [ Laughs ] Oh, gosh.

Kyle: Aha! Dee dee’s got a carrot for the snowman’s nose and a hat for his head.

Diane: Here you go.

Kyle: Now all we have to do is find rocks for his eyes. You ready?

Harrison: Ready!

[ Laughter ]

Summer: You guys have fun.

Diane: Alright. And stay bundled up. It’s cold out there. I can’t wait to see mr. Snowman.

Kyle: Thank you.

Diane: Yeah. Whew! Thank you again for making this happen. I know that kyle had planned on coming alone until you convinced him that you and harrison should join him.

Summer: You’re welcome. You know, you should keep that in mind going forward. Like it or not, diane, we are a family, and we’re supposed to be sticking together. And yet you’re still keeping secrets. You pleaded with kyle not to tell me that you actually did work with the authorities to convict jeremy stark.

Diane: He told you?

Summer: Of course he told me. And quite some time ago, too. You know, you put him in a horrible position asking him to lie to me like that. You really should know better.

Sharon: Thank you so much for helping me clean up.

Chance: Yeah, well, it’s the least I can do, given I missed the bulk of the work.

Sharon: Well, I don’t really consider this work today. You know, I’m happy to help folks who are less fortunate, especially this time of year. It’s very gratifying for me.

Chance: Yeah. Yeah, I totally get that.

Sharon: Well, you would because you’ve devoted your life to public service. Didn’t you bust a thief recently? Wait a minute. What was his name? It was merry mc…?

Chloe: Mcjingles.

Sharon: Yes!

Chance: Yeah.

Sharon: How could I forget that name? You’re a man of many talents.

Chance: Well…

Sharon: Here. Thanks again for helping me.

Chance: Hey, no problem. I, uh, figured the sooner you can get out of here and get back to your kids, the better, right?

Sharon: Uh, actually, I’m not in a hurry. I already had a video chat with faith this morning, and the rest of us aren’t getting together until later today. Noah’s with allie at the club, setting up for the christmas crowd.

Chance: They’re open today?

Sharon: Yeah. He wanted it to be a place where people without families could go and celebrate.

Chance: Wow.

Sharon: He’s very passionate about it. I’m so happy for him.

Chance: Yeah.

Sharon: And mariah and tessa are just spending some private time alone right now. They’re very hopeful because they received a photo, a sonogram photo, from a pregnant woman who may place her baby with them.

Chance: Wow. So, they might have a kid soon. Huh.

Sharon: Well, nothing’s set in stone, but it’s possible.

Chance: Well, you know, i heard about all the support that they gave abby while I was gone. And of course, after everything mariah has done for dominic, they deserve all kinds of happiness.

Sharon: They certainly do. And they’re not the only ones, chance. You deserve some happiness, too.

Diane: You have every right to feel the way you do. I was just terrified of anyone other than kyle or jack knowing the truth.

Summer: Look, I’m not trying to start a fight with you. I just feel like you should know by now that harrison and kyle come first for me. Their safety and happiness is my number-one priority.

Diane: I appreciate that, as well as the kindness you’ve shown me. But at the same time, I — i can’t ignore who your mother is. I mean, I — I feel for you, constantly having to balance your loyalty to her and supporting kyle’s relationship with me.

Summer: I’m not gonna lie to you. The balance has been difficult. I love my mom, but I’m not gonna excuse her behavior. She’s been out of bounds.

Diane: [ Scoffs ] Thank you for acknowledging that.

Summer: I’m also not gonna turn my back on her. We’ve been through rough patches before, and we always get through them, but you don’t need to worry about that because i can manage the situation.

Diane: Fair enough.

Summer: Just to be perfectly clear, I’m not gonna share any information with my mother that could put kyle or harrison or even you in jeopardy. But I am telling you — don’t underestimate me again. And please don’t put kyle in the position of having to choose between his mother and his wife. Because if you do, we are gonna have a serious problem.

Diane: Alright. Wow. Honest and protective. I can see why kyle adores you. And, more importantly, why he respects you. I am sorry for my mistake. It won’t happen again.

Tucker: I guess we should have called ahead.

Ashley: I should have known it was closed today, considering my daughter owns the place. I just assumed abby was leaving the staff in charge, though.

Tucker: Let’s just go somewhere else.

Ashley: All the good places are probably booked, don’t you think? Uh, there might be another way, though, that we can have lunch here.

Tucker: Should we break in?

Ashley: Oh, good idea. No. I think —

[ Keys jangle ] I think I’ve got a key. Abby gave it to me in case of an emergency, and I don’t think she’d mind if we use the kitchen if we promise to clean up.

Tucker: Aren’t you full of surprises.

Ashley: Yes. I keep you on your toes.

Tucker: Yes, you do.

[ Keys jangling ]

Ashley: [ Gasps ] Yay! My most important kitchen tool?

Elena: [ Sighs ] I wouldn’t continue down this path regarding devon and abby. I worry that you’re projecting your guilt onto devon and turning this into some type of condemnation. And acting on your suspicions probably won’t end well.

Nate: I never said I was going to do anything about it.

Elena: Yeah, but I can see the wheels turning in your head.

Nate: [ Chuckles ] You’re talking like this is consuming me. I promise you, it is not.

Elena: Okay. Then it should be easy for you to give it up. We broke up because you got caught up in the same kind of negativity. I thought you were past this. I thought you understood that you don’t need to pull anyone down in order to lift yourself up.

Nate: You’re making too much of this.

Elena: Am I? You are thriving in your new position at newman media.

Elena: The two of us are doing well. And instead of focusing on that on christmas, you’ve decided to look for a reason to call devon a hypocrite. That is so unhealthy. You need to focus on the good and find a way to fix things with your family instead of making them worse.

Abby: You and nate have to find a way to resolve this conflict.

Devon: [ Sighs ] Do we? It doesn’t have to be today. I’ll tell you that. We really don’t need to even keep talking about him. It’s kind of killing the mood.

Abby: That is the wrong answer. Today is the best day to put aside all of your anger and your resentment. Think about all the blessings that you have in your life. You have your company with lily. You have the most perfect son, who is happy and healthy, and he adores you. And you have a really good friend and co-parent in yours truly. And I, for one, am very thankful for our friendship, even though our connection has caused a lot of drama recently.

Devon: Right, and it’s that drama that I’m worried that nate is gonna try and exploit.

Abby: Come on. What could he possibly do? We have already suffered the worst possible consequence from what happened.

Devon: I don’t know. I don’t want to find out what he can do. You know? He’s clearly running off of emotions right now, and that’s when people lash out.

Abby: Okay. So, maybe try to find a way to put out the fire instead of fuel it.

Devon: It’s not that easy.

Abby: You have to start somewhere. What would your dad think about all of this?

Devon: What would my dad think? You’re really gonna go there?

Abby: Well, I think it’s relevant to the situation. You and neil — you betrayed each other over the years. But you found a way to forgive each other, too. And think about how great it was, I mean, just how close you were in the end. So, what would he think about you having a cousin who lives across the hall and you guys being so disconnected, today of all days?

Traci: Jack, as happy as I am to have been able to spend this time with you, um [Chuckles] The house is just a lot emptier than I expected it would be. It seems like our family is so unsettled right now, with abby’s impending divorce and ashley spending extra time with tucker?

[ Sighs ] And with diane’s departure. I mean, that has its whole set of ripple effects.

Jack: I know this last remark was aimed at me, and I’m sorry that you’ve been caught up in all the tension surrounding diane. I know I didn’t make things any better going after ashley just now, and… look, I-I — I want more than anything for things to go back to the way they were.

Traci: Well, I’m glad to hear it, and I hope it happens sooner than later.

Jack: You and me both.

Traci: [ Sighs ] Okay, well, I — I guess I will go upstairs and pour myself a glass of wine and have a soak in a hot tub with my new peppermint bath oil I got in my stocking. Merry christmas, jack.

Jack: Merry christmas.

Traci: Mm.

Jack: [ Smooches ]

Traci: [ Chuckles ]

Jack: [ Breathes deeply ]

Kyle: Whew.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Hey, dad.

Jack: Hey, son. Merry christmas. How things going on at the cabin?

Kyle: Great. Harrison and I just came in from building a snowman.

Jack: Oh, boy, I’ll bet he loved that.

Kyle: He did. Had lots of opinions. Took on more of a supervisory role. I was the manual labor.

Jack: Listen, I’m glad things are going well up there. When are you planning on coming home?

Kyle: Not sure. Mom, summer, and harrison are out now collecting pine cones. He’ll be pretty worn out after that, but we’ll have to wait for him to fall asleep before we get him back in the car so he doesn’t realize exactly where we are. Why do you ask? Is there something going on i should know about?

Jack: I don’t want to take anything away from your fun time up in the cabin, but I thought you should know what you’re coming home to. I spoke to jeremy stark, made the offer that we discussed, and he said he’s gonna leave town as soon as he gets the second installment. I wish I was confident that he was telling the truth.

Kyle: So, mom is still in danger. I get bladder leaks.

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Tucker: See, now, isn’t this nice, working together, being in sync?

Ashley: It’s kind of like riding a bike, isn’t it? You never really forget.

Tucker: I don’t know if I’d put it that way, but certainly being in sync was never a problem for us.

Ashley: Oh, you’re being a little naughty, aren’t you?

Tucker: Oh, says the woman who broke into her daughter’s restaurant.

Ashley: Mm. Needs something.

Tucker: Oh, yes, I’m sure you’re gonna find the absolute perfect blend of flavors, huh?

Ashley: I can’t help it. It’s the chemist in me.

Tucker: Yeah, that makes sense. Be almost embarrassing if you weren’t a good cook.

Ashley: Now, that’s either a dig or a compliment. I think I’m gonna go with the latter.

Tucker: [ Chuckles ]

Ashley: Here.

Tucker: Mmm. Mmm. That is fantastic. That is going to bring out the essence and the energy of the vegetables.

Ashley: The essence and the energy.

Tucker: Yes. You know, I became quite a student of the culinary arts during my travels.

Ashley: Oh, of course you did. Tell me more.

Tucker: Well, I learned to cook from this master at the monastery in south korea.

Ashley: Ah.

Tucker: And he taught me that food is the, um — [Clears throat] The connection that brings the — the mental and the physical energies together and that food harmonizes our body and we become one with the ingredients, et cetera, et cetera.

Ashley: Oh, so, you’re saying that this lunch is actually gonna be a spiritual experience for the two of us?

Tucker: If we did it right.

Ashley: Huh. So, you were an apprentice chef before the racecar driving, I’m assuming, right?

Tucker: Yes.

Ashley: And I’m sure you’ve just had tons of experiences between those two. So, what’s next?

Tucker: Lunch.

Sharon: You really haven’t said that much since we sat down. Did I say something wrong?

Chance: No, no. No, not at all. You’ve been — you’ve been great company. I don’t know. I just, um…

[ Chuckles ] I don’t really think today’s the day to dump all my personal issues on you, you know? Even you deserve a break on christmas.

Sharon: Friends don’t take a day off. So, if you don’t want to talk about yourself at the moment, I — I could maybe share something with you.

Chance: Please, yeah.

Sharon: Um, okay. Well…I wanted to try to keep myself very busy today so that i wouldn’t end up, you know, feeling. But it’s there. I-I really do miss rey.

Chance: Yeah, I, uh… I figured you did.

Sharon: Last year, we had such a special but ordinary christmas, and I thought it would be one of many, of course. I had no idea that I’d be sitting here now, looking back with nothing but the memories.

Devon: I’ll be down in a minute.

Abby: I will be here.

[ Cellphone pings ]

Devon: He’s still out like a light.

Abby: You’re back.

Devon: Yeah.

Abby: [ Chuckles ]

Devon: What’s that look about? What’s going on?

Abby: Okay. As someone who cares about you a lot…

Devon: Yeah?

Abby: …Can you do me a big favor? I love what downy does for my sheets and towels.

Diane: Wow!

Summer: Look at all the pine cones we collected!

Diane: Oh, they’re awesome, special.

Kyle: Wow. They look amazing. We’ll definitely have to take them home with us.

Diane: Hey, harrison, do you want to show those to your new stuffed animal? Yeah? Let’s go into the bedroom.

Kyle: Okay.

Diane: There you go.

Harrison: Keep it.

Diane: Come on. Aww!

Kyle: Aww. Thank you.

[ Chuckles ]

[ Door closes ]

Summer: What’s going on?

Kyle: Our hopes that my mom will come home soon have been dashed.

Summer: [ Sighs ]

Sharon: You know, it’s hard to believe that rey and I only shared one christmas together as a married couple.

Chance: It’s unfair. I mean, you guys deserved a lifetime of memories.

Sharon: [ Sighs ] Well, my kids have been a tremendous comfort to me. And my therapy clients and running this place — you know, that’s kept me busy and given me something to focus on. Um…I take pride in having the strength to carry on with my life the way that I know that i should, the way that I know rey would want me to.

Chance: Yeah. I get that. You know, not that what I’m going through compares to what you suffered, but I do understand struggling to come to terms with a big shift in your life as you knew it.

Sharon: Well, loss is loss, and you lost the family unit you had with abby and dom.

Chance: It’s weird not living together. And it’s weird having to divide our time up with our son. And it’s really hard figuring out how to be a good father in the shape that our family’s taken now.

Sharon: I can imagine how hard that must be to navigate.

Chance: Got any advice?

Sharon: [ Chuckles ] No, neither one of us need any advice today, just someone to listen.

Ashley: Whoa.

Tucker: Are you enlightened?

Ashley: I think I am. That was pretty fabulous.

Tucker: Of course. With the combined talents of a scientist and a spiritual master…

Ashley: [ Laughs ]

Tucker: …How can you go wrong?

Ashley: You are a businessperson at heart, and you know it.

Tucker: So are you. Mm, and this is just a small sample of what you and I could accomplish if we were to join forces professionally.

Ashley: You’re actually gonna pitch me on christmas day?

Tucker: Yes. The opportunity has presented itself. And you should know that I have created a business plan for the new venture — brand-new company, all ours, no ties to jabot, no ties to the abbotts, very grand in scale. Um, it would involve paris and would require my deep pockets to bankroll it. And you could invest however much you wish, of course. Be a dream come true for you.

Ashley: You think you know what my dreams are?

Tucker: I know you.

Ashley: Hmm. I’m kind of surprised that you’ve given this so much thought. And even though I don’t know that much about it, I don’t find it totally unappealing.

Tucker: Oh, wait till I lay it out in great detail. And of course you can amend however much you want. But, yeah, you’re gonna see that I am, uh, in fine tune with you, your talent, your personality.

Ashley: Interesting.

Tucker: Mm-hmm.

Ashley: Sometimes I feel like, um, I know you. And then other times, I feel like I don’t know you at all.

Tucker: Yeah, you know me, better than anyone else ever has.

[ Glasses clink ] (Music throughout)

Abby: Well, cheers.

Elena: Yeah. Salud.

Abby: Yeah.

Devon: Cheers.

[ Glasses clink ]

Elena: Mmm.

Abby: Mmm.

Elena: Pinot.

Devon: Hmm. Alright.

Abby: Well, I am so happy that we got snow for christmas.

Elena: Yeah. It makes everything even more magical.

Abby: Mm-hmm. Yeah.

Elena: [ Clears throat ]

Devon: [ Chuckles ]

Elena: So, did dominic get a chance to take a picture with santa?

Abby: He sure did. You have to see this. Look.

[ Both laugh ]

Elena: It’s her background. How cute. Look.

Abby: He was so excited. Like, when we were waiting to meet santa, he was so happy. And then as soon as we got up there, he just lost it. I guess he’s not up for christmas photo shoots.

[ Laughter ]

Devon: Poor little guy. That reminds me of this story that dru told me when I was a kid. When she was young, they used to make her and olivia wear the exact same dresses every christmas for their annual photo.

Nate: Yeah, my, um — my mother told me this story. Uh, they hated dressing alike because they were so different.

[ Light laughter ]

Devon: Right. Right. Yeah. They, uh, — dru would, uh — she said she wanted to buy ballet slippers with the money instead.

Nate: And my mother would have gladly bought a microscope with it.

[ Laughter ]

Devon: That’s right, but they didn’t let them do that. They made them wear these really cutesy dresses with these big bows.

Nate: “Cutesy” is not a word I’d ever use to describe my mother or my aunt.

Devon: Yeah, no. No, me neither. They, uh — they stayed true to their personalities, though. They didn’t hide their feelings. There’s a ton of pictures that I’ve seen with dru’s face that looks just like dominic.

Abby: Aww.

Nate: Fast-forward two years later. They would go on and on about how much they hated those christmas photos, but the second those old photo albums came out, they would start cracking up until tears streamed down their faces.

[ Laughter ]

Devon: Yeah, man. Those pictures became their favorite. Treasured memories.

Nate: Mm.

Ashley: I’m not even prepared to consider leaving jabot, but I’m still very flattered by the effort you’re going to, to lure me away.

Tucker: [ Chuckling ] Okay. Should I take encouragement in that?

Ashley: No.

[ Laughs ] Sorry. I mean, it is a basic human response because it’s so nice to be wanted.

Tucker: Mm-hmm. Well, I meant what I said about creating the dream situation for you. And, uh, we could have this great new company, work side by side with each other. That’s my dream come true. Merry christmas.

Ashley: Hello.

Jack: Hi.

Ashley: I’m assuming you saw what just happened at the door.

Jack: Boy, you’re just making one mistake after another, aren’t you?

Ashley: Oh, jackie, could you please just trust me for once?

Kyle: I brought summer up to speed on dad’s news. Stark is going to be a lot harder to get rid of than we thought, and if we can’t buy him off, he has another motive for sticking around.

Diane: I was initially scared when jeremy came to town, but now that I’ve had a little time to process things, I refuse to just sit here and fall apart. I mean, I thought it would be smart for me to hide out for a while, and then if jeremy thought that I had run off, maybe he would leave town himself. But if that’s not the case, then I am not going to continue to hide in fear.

Summer: So, what are you gonna do?

Diane: [ Sighs ] Well, we need another way to neutralize jeremy as a threat. But that can’t be done from here. So I need to go back to town and show my face.

Kyle: I admire your desire to stand up to him, but he hasn’t become any less dangerous.

Diane: Hear me out. I have an idea about how to handle jeremy stark.

Update written by Barbara

Seated at the Glam Club with Noah, Sharon, Mariah and Tessa on Christmas Eve, Nick tells them that as excited as Christian is about Christmas, it was easy to get him to sleep. He adds that Christian is a cakewalk compared to Noah at that age.

As Tessa and Mariah get tipsy from champagne, Tessa tells the group that she and Mariah don’t have to be concerned about driving home because she booked a suite downstairs in the hotel as a holiday surprise for Mariah. The two of them look forward to getting comfortable in the cozy robes the hotel provides.

Once inside their suite and relaxing in the big bed, Mariah gives Tessa an ornament to celebrate their first Christmas as a married couple. Tessa mentions that continuing to add ornaments could become a tradition and hopefully they can add one for their baby’s first Christmas next year.

When Mariah and Tessa wake up on Christmas Day, they realize they’re running late and rush over to Crimson Lights to help Sharon pack the holiday presents and food boxes that Noah will bring to the shelters.

A pregnant woman comes into the coffeehouse asking for help. She tells Sharon, Mariah and Tessa that she needs a tow and her phone is dead, and asks if they can help her. When Sharon asks what happened, she tells her that she hit a patch of ice and skidded into a pole.  Her name is Sonia and she is very upset, and a little dazed. Tessa calls a tow truck, but she’s unable to find one that would be able to get to Crimson Lights in a timely manner.

After being introduced to Mariah and Tessa, Sonia recognizes Tessa from her music and one of her songs that’s playing in the coffeehouse. When Mariah and Tessa ask Sonia about being with her family on Christmas, she tells them that she was driving away from her parents because she hasn’t been getting along with them. She mentions that she was supposed to finish college in the spring and then go to grad school but adds she doesn’t know how that will happen.

When Sonia anxiously says that she doesn’t know if she can be the mom that her baby deserves, especially with all the people out there who can’t wait to be parents. Mariah looks at Tessa, who tells Sonia that it’s a really big decision, but she’s sure Sonia will make the right decision for her and her baby. Mariah tells Sonia,”it’s your story to write; nobody else’s”.

Sonia’s water breaks, followed by contractions, and she goes into labor in the coffeehouse. Mariah tries unsuccessfully to get an ambulance over there on time because the roads are almost impassable.

Sharon calls Elena, who is close by and can get to Crimson Lights. Elena delivers Sonia’s  baby girl. The EMTs finally arrive and get Sonia and the baby ready to go to the hospital with her baby.

Having told Mariah and Tessa that she felt that the universe brought her together with them, Sonia says she feels like she can do anything now that she’s holding her daughter.

In their hotel room on Christmas Morning, Mariah is sitting up in the bed looking serious and upset. When Tessa wakes up and they talk for a few minutes, they realize they both had the same intense dream.

Mariah worries that this is an omen that they might not get what they want, whereas Tessa remains optimistic and suggests that Mariah look for the good parts of the dream. She tells Mariah that they’ll be “kickass moms”.

Mariah and Tessa come into Crimson Lights to greet Sharon and Noah. Sharon observes that they they don’t seem to be their usual effervescent selves, but Mariah assures her that they’re fine.

Then, she and Tessa get texts from Delphine, the potential birth mother they’re supposed to meet after New Year’s. Delphine has sent a sonogram of her baby girl, with a message that says to Mariah and Tessa, “We can’t wait to meet you”.

Transcript provided by Suzanne

All: Cheers! Merry christmas!

Mariah: Noah, thank you so much for putting this together. It’s a very unique way to spend christmas eve — you know, fun, festive, family nightcap before the chaos of tomorrow morning.

Noah: Yeah, what’s the point of owning a club if you don’t put it to good use every once in a while? And I thank you all for coming. We should make this a tradition, all the grown-ups getting together christmas eve. That would be fun.

Nick: Yeah, we’ll see.

Noah: Okay, what’s that supposed to mean?

[ Laughter ]

Nick: I’m just saying, a lot can happen from now and then. You know, we don’t know where we’re gonna be, what we’re gonna be doing. I say we just enjoy tonight for what it is.

Tessa: Hear, hear!

Sharon: Hear, hear!

Mariah: Hear, hear!

Sharon: I am just so grateful that you put this together, noah. I was feeling a little bit lonely tonight.

Noah: To rey.

Sharon: Yes, to rey.

All: To rey!

Sharon: Thank you. You know, it’s been quiet around the house with faith being away, but I know she is having the time of her life in europe.

Noah: When did she get so old? I feel like just last week faith was this little girl getting lost in the woods, needing to be rescued.

Nick: That’s what happens when you get older. Time moves very quickly.

Mariah: But seriously, when did she get so sophisticated? She’s like a jet-setter now.

Tessa: And by “sophisticated,” you mean more sophisticated than us?

Mariah: Yes. Yes. I would love to be skiing in the alps.

Tessa: Babe, you don’t ski.

Mariah: I would like to be doing something in the alps.

[ Light laughter ]

Sharon: Nick, it’s nice that you have christian. You can get a little bit of that christmas magic at your house.

Mariah: Okay, I have to ask. How tough was it to get him to sleep tonight, on a scale of 1 to 10?

Nick: Christian’s a cakewalk compared to that dude.

Mariah: Wow!

Sharon: Oh, yeah, that is true. Noah, you were the worst.

Nick: The absolute worst. It took forever to get him to go to bed, and then at about 3:30, he’d come knocking on the door.

Tessa: 3:30?!

Nick: Yep. Some years I’d feel like I just got my head on the pillow, and he’d come in screaming and hollering, saying he was ready to open presents.

Mariah: So, how did you get christian to sleep tonight?

Nick: Easy. Christian likes to know things. So, first we just kind of checked out, you know, online what reindeers prefer, oats to carrots.

Mariah: Mm.

Tessa: Carrots, obviously.

Noah: How is that obvious?

Nick: Well, you’ve done your own research. Then we checked out the santa tracker. Christian realized santa was still really far away, and he also knows that santa doesn’t show up until he’s asleep, so he went right to bed.

Mariah: Well, hopefully he doesn’t wake up at 3:30 like his brother used to.

Nick: Oh, man, let’s hope. But as annoying as it was, it was also really fun. You know, it’s the joy of the holiday season. I’m sure sharon can vouch for this, and you guys will all realize it someday, but there’s just nothing like seeing christmas through the eyes of a child.

Mariah: Ahh.

Noah: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Okay, how about you, uh, slow down there, you two?

Mariah: Excuse me. I’m not driving.

Tessa: Uh, another glass, and we might not be walking.

Noah: Yeah, well, let’s just save some for new year’s eve. I’m gonna run out of champagne with you two hanging around here. You guys need anything?

Nick: Uh, I’m good. Thanks.

Sharon: I’m actually gonna head home soon. I still have so much to prepare. Everything needs to be packed and ready to deliver to all the shelters. And of course, you two are going to be there in the morning to help me out, right?

Mariah: Mm-hmm. Yes, I promised that we would be there at the break of dawn.

Tessa: Wait, what?

Noah: I’ll be there, too. I could help out with deliveries.

Sharon: Oh, thank you, noah. I’m so glad that you’re all volunteering your time. You know, it feels really good to help people out, especially this time of year. And, nick, I know that you have a busy morning, but we’ll all meet at my house, say around noon?

Nick: Yeah, I’m betting christian opens up all his presents in about 6 minutes, so that’ll give us some time to play with everything, and then we’ll cruise over to your place. And then christian, noah, and i will then go to my parents’.

Mariah: That sounds like fun.

Nick: You are very welcome to join the newman family christmas. You can sit right next to my dad.

Mariah: Ohh, that’s so enticing, but, uh, I’m gonna be busy.

[ Laughter ]

Sharon: Alright, well, I’m going to head home. So, noah, thank you so much for a lovely evening.

Noah: Thank you, mom.

Sharon: And merry christmas to all and to all a good night.

Mariah: Merry christmas.

Sharon: Merry christmas. Do you two need a ride home?

Mariah: Uh…no. No, I think we’re just gonna stay here on this big comfy couch.

Noah: Uh, no, no, actually, I don’t think so. Sorry, it’s not the vibe I’m really going for. So, you don’t have to go home, but —

Nick: You can’t stay here.

Noah: Yes, exactly.

Sharon: Come on. I’ll give you a ride.

Tessa: Oh, no, that’s okay, sharon. I have a plan. We’re not staying here, but we’re not going home. When you’re through with powering through,

Sharon: Oh, how

Tessa: I booked a suite for us as a surprise for our very first christmas together as a married couple.

Sharon: Oh, how sweet.

Nick: Thoughtful and practical.

Tessa: Exactly. I packed an overnight bag for us. We’ll have everything we need. Room service will be there for late-night snacks, and we’ll have a rose-petal bath.

Mariah: Oh, my gosh. Okay, raise your hand if you feel like a queen.

[ Laughs ]

Tessa: And…

Mariah: Oh, there’s more?

Tessa: After our bath, we can lounge in our warm, fuzzy robes.

Mariah: [ Gasps ] I love those robes. They are the coziest. Oh, my gosh, I am so glad that i married you.

Noah: Good work, tess. Very romantic, prescient.

Tessa: Well, shall we?

Mariah: Yes. Let’s go.

Nick: Good night.

Mariah: Good night.

[ Laughter ]

Tessa: Okay. We were gonna be here all night, but now we’re leaving before sharon.

Mariah: Yeah, that’s ’cause i didn’t know that there was a suite downstairs waiting for us. We love you all. Merry christmas. We’ll see you in the morning.

Tessa: Yeah.

Mariah: We’re out of here.

Tessa: Merry christmas!

Noah: Good night.

Tessa: Whew. That was so loud. I bet you could hear it all the way to the north pole.

Mariah: [ Chuckles ] After I put on this robe, i couldn’t hear anything else. It’s like everything just quieted down. Think it has a built-in mute button?

Tessa: Uh, no, I don’t think that’s how sound or robes or anything works. But I love the giddy smile on your face. You’ve had it ever since you got out of the tub.

Mariah: Ah, it was luxurious. Thank you so much for this gift. I think we really needed it.

Tessa: Yes. You are welcome. And I do not feel bad that i enjoyed your gift as much as you did.

Mariah: Well, you know what this means now.

Tessa: What?

Mariah: We are officially a couple that exchanges one gift on christmas eve.

Tessa: Oh! I didn’t know that was a category.

Mariah: Yeah, it totally is.

Tessa: Hmm.

Mariah: And, uh, lucky for you, I got you something. I picked it up this morning. And I didn’t have time to put it under the tree, but this seemed like the perfect occasion.

Tessa: Okay. Wow. This is pretty.

Mariah: [ Chuckles ]

Tessa: [ Gasps ] Ooh. Ooh. “Have yourself a married little christmas. Mariah and tessa, 2022.”

Mariah: Do you get it?

Tessa: Uh, yeah. It’s because we’re married. It’s not that complicated.

Mariah: [ Laughs ] I know it’s corny, but I just thought that we should have something to commemorate our first christmas as wife and wife.

Tessa: I love it. It is perfect. And it could become a new tradition, a new inscribed ornament every year. Maybe next year it’ll say “baby’s first christmas.”

Mariah: We could be moms next year. How crazy is that?

Tessa: Can you imagine having the kind of christmas eve that nick gave christian? Ah, I mean, that’s how it should be for kids — just they’re so excited that they can’t even sleep the night before.

Mariah: I know. I didn’t personally have, uh, that magical “get ready for santa” christmas when I was growing up.

Tessa: Yeah, me neither. But we will make sure that our kid does. Decorating the tree. Wrapping presents. Baking cookies. But our well decorated home will be filled with the most important thing of all.

Mariah: Presents. Lots and lots of presents.

Tessa: Um…love?

Mariah: Love!

Tessa: Mm.

Mariah: Yes.

Tessa: Yeah.

Mariah: Lots and lots of love. That’s better.

Tessa: And not just from us. Our kid will have a big, happy family to celebrate the holiday with.

Mariah: I want that more than anything.

Tessa: Me too.

Mariah: But for the time being, we have each other and this beautiful night together. The world is full of make or break moments.

[ Both laugh ]

Tessa: Good morning.

Mariah: Merry christmas.

Tessa: Merry christmas, my gorgeous wife.

Mariah: [ Inhales sharply ] Mnh, I do not feel very gorgeous right now. I feel like I got [Chuckling] Ran over by a reindeer.

Tessa: [ Sighs ]

Mariah: How is it that you look so good in the morning? Did you, like, get up first and do your hair or something?

Tessa: No, I am just glowing with the holiday spirit.

Mariah: Hmm. I’ll say.

Tessa: Should we order breakfast? Or should we get something from crimson lights?

Mariah: Um, let me see. Oh, uh, definitely crimson lights because we are running very, very late.

Tessa: Oh, okay.

[ Gasps ] Oh. Oh, it snowed! A white christmas. Oh, it’s so beautiful.

Mariah: I’m sure it is, but we really need to get going. We can’t leave sharon hanging.

Tessa: I just think it’s nice. I mean, we expected snow, and we got snow. I mean, I think it’s a good sign.

Mariah: Um, well, it’s supposed to be snowing on and off all day long, which is not a good sign. Uh, when you planned this surprise, did you think to pack, like, boots or warm clothes?

Tessa: Yes, I’m on top of it, and everything’s in the car.

Mariah: Okay, good, ’cause we are gonna need to stay warm through all these deliveries. Uh, would it be weird if we just wore our robes all day long?

Tessa: Yes. Leave the robes here. We got to get going. Sharon needs us.

Mariah: Okay. Time to be christmas elves.

Tessa: Well, technically, elves don’t work today. They work really hard up till today and then take the day off, so…

Mariah: Alright. Well, these elves are gonna be working overtime, so get! Go, go, go, go, go!

Mariah: Good morning!

Sharon: Good morning!

Mariah: Merry christmas.

Sharon: Merry christmas. Good morning. Isn’t the snow beautiful?

Tessa: Oh, it’s such a dream.

Noah: Well, it’s nice of you two to join us.

Mariah: Uh, well, I’m sorry we’re late, mr. Taskmaster, but it’s all my fault.

Noah: Oh, I know.

Mariah: Thanks. Wait, how could you possibly know it’s my fault?

Noah: ‘Cause it always is.

Mariah: Okay, well, we walked here from the hotel, and because of all the fresh snow, we just had to throw a few snowballs at each other.

Noah: That’s why you’re late? Seriously?

Mariah: That, and we overslept.

Tessa: Yeah.

Mariah: But we’re here now, so let’s, uh, get to work after a warm beverage.

Noah: Ooh, you guys probably need a couple of triple espressos after all that champagne, right?

Tessa: Oh, no. We are very sharp.

Mariah: I was a little groggy, but no more than usual.

Noah: It’s christmas miracle.

Mariah: [ Laughs ]

Sharon: Okay, we have got to get to work. We have tons of presents and food to deliver. And I’m a little worried about the driving conditions because it — it’s gonna snow some more.

Mariah: Well, it doesn’t look like there’s that much to deliver.

Noah: Oh, this is just the stuff I couldn’t fit in the van. Everything else is already packed up.

Tessa: You did that all by yourself?

Noah: I sure did, while you two were out frolicking, making snow angels.

Mariah: Hey, I didn’t say anything about snow angels. How did you know that?

Sharon: Okay, we have about 100 more boxes in the back to pack up, and then we can start delivering.

Mariah: Okay.

Noah: I’ll make you two a deal. I do all the deliveries, you finish packaging the boxes?

Tessa: Deal.

Noah: Alright.

Mariah: Let’s get to work.

Noah: Let’s do it.

Mariah: Alright. Go, team! Okay, that’s everything from the back.

Noah: Everything’s loaded for my second trip. I just need this last bag, and I’m out of here.

Sharon: Noah, be careful out there, okay? The roads are really a mess.

Noah: I will, mom. I’ll see you guys at the house.

Mariah: See ya.

Sharon: Well, thank you both so much for your help. I can’t believe we got through that many boxes so quickly.

Tessa: Yeah, good job, everybody.

Mariah: Go, team.

Sharon: Alright, all we have to do now is clean up, and we’re out of here.

Tessa: Okay, sharon, what do we need to bring to your house?

Sharon: Nothing. Nothing. I have everything. It’s gonna be a smaller celebration this year, but very meaningful. Oh. Hello.

Sonya: I’m sorry. The sign says closed, but I saw you all in here.

Sharon: No, that’s alright. Come on in. Are you alright?

Sonya: I need a tow, and my phone’s dead. Can you help me?

Tessa: Oh, of course. Yeah, I have my phone. I’ll call.

Sharon: What happened to your car?

Sonya: I hit a patch of ice and skidded into a pole. Remember in driver’s ed when they told us that you’re supposed to turn in the direction of the skid?

Mariah: Yeah.

Sonya: Well, I didn’t until it was too late. I just sat there with steam coming out of the radiator, thinking, “oh, right, I should have turned into the skid.”

Sharon: Are you sure you’re alright?

Sonya: No, I’m fine. My car’s not. I would like to sit down, though.

Sharon: Of course. Take a seat.

Mariah: Here, right there.

Sonya: Thank you. I can’t tell you how much i appreciate this.

[ Breathing heavily ] Ohh. Who says you have to spend more on skincare

Sonya: [ Exhales heavily ]

Mariah: Here you go.

Sonya: Thanks.

Mariah: So, are you okay? Did you hit your head? Is your neck in pain at all? Did you hit your belly on the steering wheel?

Sonya: No, it really wasn’t that bad.

Tessa: I’m having trouble getting a tow service to come up here. The snow really messed up the road, so all the trucks are busy, but I will try again later.

Mariah: Or, you know, we can always call an ambulance. Or your ob-gyn.

Sonya: I’m fine. Really.

Sharon: Hey, you guys. Let our guest take a breath. She’s been through something very traumatic. Just give her some space. Hi. I’m sharon. I’m the owner here.

Sonya: My name’s sonya. I’m not hurt.

[ Voice breaking ] It’s just that, um, it all, like, happened so fast.

Mariah: Um, would you like something to eat?

Sonya: Something light would be nice. A muffin?

Sharon: Coming right up.

Sonya: Thanks.

Mariah: You know, when I was pregnant, I would have asked for five muffins.

Sonya: I was trying to be polite.

[ Laughs ]

Tessa: So, where were you going? Is there someone we can call?

Sonya: I wasn’t going anywhere. I was just driving.

Mariah: On christmas? Don’t you have a family that you need to be with?

Sonya: I do. I was driving away from my family.

Tessa: Ah.

Mariah: [ Chuckles ]

Tessa: We know what that’s like.

Sonya: I was at my parents’ place. We don’t agree on much, but lately we don’t agree on anything.

[ Voice breaking ] Not even on christmas. So I just — I just had to get out of there.

Tessa: Well, we’re sorry that you had to go through that. But you’re in the right place. We’re glad to have your company.

Sharon: Alright. Here you go. Here’s one muffin. And let me know if there’s anything else I can get for you.

Sonya: Thank you so much. Ooh. You guys must have plans.

Mariah: Oh, plans change. I mean, you didn’t plan to slide into a pole, right? I’m mariah, by the way. I’m sharon’s daughter.

Tessa: Oh, and, um, I’m —

Sonya: Tessa. You’re tessa porter. I thought I recognized you, but I didn’t know why. But your song is playing right now.

Sharon: Yeah, that’s my playlist. This is my favorite song, too.

Tessa: Thank you.

Sonya: I’m a big fan. And not just of your music, but your whole story. It’s so inspirational, and you’ve come so far. That’s all I want — to get a chance to show the world what i can do. When I envisioned my future, being a mom at 22 wasn’t part of the plan. But [Chuckles] Like mariah said, plans change.

Tessa: Yeah. Uh, they do. So, you’re alone?

Sonya: The baby’s father isn’t in the picture. I’m supposed to finish college in the spring and go to grad school, but I don’t know how that’s going to happen. My parents think I can handle it with their support. Even though we haven’t been getting along, they have promised to help take care of their grandchild. But I don’t know if I can be the mom this baby deserves. Especially when you think about all the people out there who can’t wait to be parents.

Tessa: Well, it’s a really big decision, but I’m sure that you will make the right decision for you and your baby.

Mariah: It’s your story to write, nobody else’S.

Sonya: I appreciate you saying that. Thank you for the food and everything, but I need one more thing.

Sharon: What’s that?

Sonya: The bathroom. Which way?

[ Laughter ]

Sharon: It’s right out there and then to the right.

Sonya: Thanks.

[ Exhales sharply ]

Mariah: [ Sighs ]

Sharon: Wow. Poor thing. All alone and on a day like this.

Tessa: I’m just glad that we can be there for her.

Mariah: It’s almost like her showing up here is some sort of christmas miracle.

Sonya: I’m sorry, sharon. I think I might need a little more help after all. I think my water just broke.

Sharon: [ Gasps ] We really had our hands full

“The young and the restless”

will continue. With directv I can get live tvand on demand together:

Sonya: Ohh.

Mariah: Her water broke, and she’s now experiencing contractions, so she is definitely in labor. So, if you could please just send an ambulance as soon as possible. Okay.

Sharon: Remember to breathe through the contractions, alright?

Sonya: Yeah.

Mariah: That is really good advice. Um, so the emts are having a really difficult time sending anybody out to us. The roads are a disaster. There’s accidents all over town.

Tessa: Okay. Well, when will they come?

Mariah: I don’t know. They don’t know.

Sharon: Okay. Well, the good news is a woman’s first baby takes a little while to arrive. The labor will last a lot longer.

Sonya: That’s good news?

Sharon: Well, you want the ambulance to arrive before the baby, right?

Sonya: Yeah.

Sharon: Okay. Can you walk?

Sonya: I think so.

Sharon: Alright, why don’t we walk around a little bit? It’ll be good for you. Keeps your muscles loose. We can walk and talk.

Sonya: Okay.

Sharon: Okay.

Sonya: Oh, I’m glad one of us knows what she’s doing.

Sharon: Look, I realize this seems overwhelming, and contractions are no joke, but i promise you can do this.

Tessa: Are you okay?

Mariah: I’m fine.

Tessa: You’re thinking about when you went into labor with dominic, aren’t you?

Mariah: I was so scared. And being there alone with this pain shooting through my entire body, I-I was terrified that i wasn’t gonna make it to the hospital and that I was gonna have to do this all alone in this tiny little room. And I just… I can still feel it.

[ Sniffles ]

Tessa: But it worked out. You and bowie came home safe. And then their parents changed his name.

Mariah: [ Laughs ]

Tessa: But you are with your wife, your mother, and a young woman who is scared and in pain. She needs us to help her through what is probably one of the scariest moments of her life. Let’s help her.

Mariah: You’re absolutely right. I need to let sonya know that she’s not alone…

Tessa: Mm-hmm.

Mariah: …And that she came to the right place.

Sonya: [ Breathing heavily ]

Mariah: Look, I know that this is not what you expected — a coffeehouse instead of a maternity ward. I was in a similar position when I went into labor, but my friends got me through it, and that is exactly — oh, here — what tessa and I are gonna do for you because we’re friends now. You’re friends with tessa porter. How cool is that?

Sonya: So, you have a child?

Mariah: Uh, no. I was a, uh — I was a surrogate for people who are very near and dear to me.

Sonya: Was it hard to give up the child?

Mariah: The baby wasn’t mine. He belonged with his parents. But we, uh — we see him all the time. We’re his favorite aunts.

Sonya: So, you don’t want any kids of your own?

Mariah: Uh, actually, I would very much like to start a family.

Sonya: When?

Mariah: As soon as possible.

Sonya: [ Groans ]

Mariah: But we — we should not be talking about us right now.

Sonya: Oh, my god!

Tessa: Yeah. I mean, how’s your lower back?

Sonya: Oh, my god, it hurts. Everything hurts.

[ Breathing heavily ] Ohh. Oh, my god!

Mariah: Okay, okay. Just, uh — just breathe now, okay? Just breathe…

Sonya: Oh, my god, I don’t think I can stand anymore!

Tessa: Okay, here you go. Here you go.

Sharon: The contractions are coming on faster, aren’t they? I’ve been keeping track of the time.

Sonya: Yeah.

Sharon: Alright, tessa, there’s some blankets in the back office. Would you get them, please? We’re gonna have to make sonya as comfortable as possible. I think this baby might be coming sooner than we thought.

Sonya: Wait, you think it’s coming now?

Mariah: Um…either way, you’re gonna be fine, and the emts should be here any minute.

Sonya: What if they’re not? What do we do?

Sharon: Well, you know, i might have another option. Let me make a call.

Sonya: [ Breathing heavily ]

Mariah: Okay. Hey, sonya.

Sonya: Ohh. Ohh.

Mariah: Sonya, here.

Sharon: Oh, hey, elena. I’m so glad you answered. Look, we really need help.

Mariah: Okay, sonya, only positive thoughts from here on out, okay? It’s the only thing that matters for you and your baby’s welfare.

Sonya: Okay. Okay.

Mariah: We’ve got you, okay?

Sonya: I trust you. Ohh. You’re gonna get through this,

Sonya: [ Groaning ]

Sharon: Alright, just keep breathing. You’re doing great.

Sonya: [ Moans ]

Sharon: Look, I know it hurts. You’re gonna get through this, okay?

Tessa: Yes, I am so impressed. If I was you, I’d be screaming in pain.

Sonya: [ Screams ] Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow!

Tessa: Yep. Just like that. You are doing so good.

Mariah: Okay, keep breathing. It’s all about the breathing.

Sonya: Stop telling me to breathe! I’m breathing!

[ Sobs ]

[ Moans ]

Sharon: Oh. Elena, thank god you got here.

Elena: Yeah, it was a rough trip, but I wasn’t gonna leave you alone.

Sharon: Okay. Thank you. Sonya, this is dr. Elena dawson.

Elena: Hi, sonya. It’s nice to meet you.

Sonya: Hi.

Elena: How many weeks are you?

Sonya: 37.

Elena: Okay, and your contractions are close?

Sonya: Super close. Mnh!

[ Gasps, breathes heavily ]

Elena: Okay. We are gonna be delivering a christmas baby. I just want you to breathe.

Sonya: Okay.

Mariah: She’s very good at breathing.

Elena: Okay. And I don’t need you to push yet, okay?

Sonya: Whatever you say, doctor.

Tessa: You are in very good hands.

Sonya: Ohh.

Elena: Just slow breathing for me.

Sonya: Ohh.

Elena: Great.

Sonya: Mnh.

Elena: You got this.

Sonya: It’s really hard not to push.

Elena: It’s okay. We’re not gonna push.

Sonya: Ow!

Elena: Good. It’s okay. It’s okay. Big, deep breath in. You’re doing great.

Tessa: It’s okay if you…

Mariah: One last breathe, one last breathe.

Elena: Okay. It’s time to start pushing.

Sonya: [ Exhales sharply ]

Elena: Okay.

Sonya: I need to pray first.

Elena: Of course.

Sharon: We’re all praying with you.

Sonya: [ Breathing deeply ] Okay.

Mariah: Okay. Okay.

Sonya: [ Groaning ]

Mariah: You got this. You’re doing so great, sonya.

Tessa: We’re gonna be here for you. We’re gonna be here for you and your baby, okay?

Sonya: [ Crying ]

[ Groaning ]

Tessa: This is it.

Sonya: I don’t know if I can.

Tessa: No, this is it.

Mariah: We are so proud of you. You’re doing amazing. Just keep going.

Elena: One more push. I can see the head.

Sonya: [ Groaning ]

Elena: Good, sonya.

Tessa: Okay, come on, girl. You can do this.

Mariah: You’re doing it, okay? You’re doing it!

Sonya: [ Breathing heavily ]

Tessa: Just one more.

Sonya: [ Groaning ]

Mariah: There you go, there you go, there you go!

Sonya: Ahhhhh!

Mariah: Oh, yes!

Sonya: [ Breathing heavily ]

[ Baby crying ]

[ Laughing ] Ohh. It’s a girl?

Sharon: It’s a perfect little girl.

Sonya: Ohh. [ Chuckles ]

[ Exhaling heavily ]

Mariah: Oh, my god.

Tessa: Oh, they’re here. They’re here.

[ Laughter ] They’re here.

Sonya: [ Exhales heavily ]

We’re taking you and your baby on a short trip to memorial, but it looks like you were in very good hands here.

Sonya: I was. It was a miracle.

Elena: Let me update you on a few things.

Mariah: Yeah.

Sharon: Aww. She’s beautiful.

Sonya: Thank you so much. I don’t know what I would have done without you, sharon.

[ Cellphone ringing ]

Sharon: Oh, it’s noah. I have to take this. Excuse me.

Sonya: Plans change.

[ Laughter ]

Tessa: Yeah, they certainly do.

Sonya: An accident may have brought me here, but I didn’t come here by accident. I was supposed to meet you. The universe brought us together for a reason.

Mariah: You know, we have been thinking the same exact thing. We are so happy that we met you.

Sonya: I’m so grateful for everything you shared with me. The two of you have such a strong, beautiful relationship. You’re gonna make such incredible mothers.

[ Sighs ] I hope I can be a good mother, too. You were right. This is my story, and I’m writing it.

[ Chuckles ] I was so scared today, but then I found a strength I didn’t know I had inside me. Holding my daughter like this… I feel like I can do anything.

[ Exhales heavily ]

[ Sniffles ]

Mariah: [ Chuckles ]

Tessa: Bye.

Sonya: Bye.

Tessa: [ Groans lightly ] Hey.

Mariah: I just had the most intense dream.

Tessa: Me too.

Tessa: Wow. We haven’t had a psychic connection like that since you were kidnapped.

Mariah: Now we just had the same dream.

Tessa: I think it shows how close we are.

Mariah: It felt so realistic. It felt like it was actually happening until the second i opened my eyes.

Tessa: Yeah. I’ve never woken up so exhausted. That dream was so emotionally draining.

Mariah: I mean, meeting this young woman and then letting myself believe that somehow it meant that our baby was coming soon, only to have this imaginary young mother choose to keep her child. I mean… what if it’s an omen?

Tessa: An omen of what?

Mariah: Then we’re not gonna get what we want.

Tessa: [ Sighs ] I know why you felt that way. I was disheartened, too. But I don’t think we can ascribe too much to an emotional dream. It was a manifestation of our hopes and fears. On thanksgiving, the birth mother we wanted chose to go in another direction and let her cousin adopt the baby. And now our collective anxious subconscious is just telling us not to get our hopes up too high.

Mariah: And you don’t think it’s a sign?

Tessa: Okay, well, if you want to think about it that way, think about all the positive aspects of the dream.

Mariah: Like what?

Tessa: [ Chuckles ] We met a birth mother who we connected with.

[ Voice breaking ] We felt the joy of bringing a new life into the world. I think it affirms that we’re gonna be kick-ass moms.

Mariah: [ Chuckles ] Well, I guess it’s like sharon said yesterday. Every experience we have is just bringing us that much closer to finding our own child.

Tessa: I mean, I think it’s true. And if anything, the dream means that, even when we face setbacks… you have to keep the faith. I mean, isn’t that worth remembering, especially today?

Mariah: You’re right. And I love you.

Tessa: I love you, too.

[ Sniffles ]

[ Inhales sharply ]

Noah: Okay. Actually, I think it’s probably gonna be two trips, so I will take the gifts right now and then come back for the meals when they’re ready.

Sharon: Sounds good.

[ Gasps ]

Mariah: Good morning! Hi.

Noah: Merry christmas.

Mariah: Merry christmas.

Sharon: Merry christmas!

Noah: Oh, it’s nice of you two to join us.

Mariah: Sorry we’re late.

Noah: Too much free champagne last night?

Tessa: Maybe a little.

[ Laughter ]

Sharon: Oh, no. You two didn’t sleep well?

Mariah: Uh, something like that. But it’s nothing a strong cup of coffee can’t fix.

Sharon: Okay, well, I just made a pot.

Noah: Yeah. I’ll grab you guys some mugs.

Mariah: Okay.

Sharon: Thanks, honey. Um, is everything okay?

Mariah: Yeah. Why wouldn’t it be?

Sharon: That’s not an answer.

Mariah: [ Chuckling ] Um… we’re fine. Just a little groggy.

Sharon: Okay. You just don’t seem like your usual effervescent selves.

Mariah: [ Chuckles ]

[ Cellphones ping ] Oh.

Tessa: Um, it’s from delphine.

Noah: Who’s that?

Tessa: It’s the woman we’re supposed to meet after new year’S.

Mariah: The potential birth mother.

Sharon: What does she say?

Mariah: She sent, uh, a sonogram. Yeah.

Tessa: It’s a girl.

Sharon: Ooh. Wow. She’s beautiful.

Mariah: And she also included a message. “We can’t wait to meet you.”

Sharon: [ Gasps ]

Mariah: [ Laughing, crying ]

Tessa: [ Laughing, crying ]

Next week on

“the young and the restless”…

Tucker: We could have this great new company, work side by side with each other. That’s my dream come true.

Phyllis: Say “rock star.”

Danny: Rock star!

Daniel: Rock star

Phyllis: Okay.

Danny: Oh, good note.

Billy: I’m worried about us, lily.

Lily: Me too.

Chloe: You’re really not feeling well. Wait, sally. Is there a possibility you might be…

Both: There’s no place like home for the holidays.

Case: Thank you for welcoming us into your homes for the past 50 years.

Morrow: And tuning in to “the young and the restless.”

Sarpy: Our greatest gift is our “y&r” family.

Dominic: Which includes you.

Thomas scott: We’ve celebrated the holidays with you for five decades, and we can’t wait to spend many more.

Braeden: From all of us here in genoa city to all of you, happy holidays.

Tucker: Sharon. Hey. I have been in here so many times since I moved back to town. How is it that I have not seen you?

Sharon: I guess I’ve just been lucky.

Tucker: [Laughs] I guess my coffee’s gonna come with a little spice today, is it?

Sharon: I’ve heard that you picked up right where you left off — crashing summer and Kyle’s vow renewal, circling all of the Genoa City businesses like a vulture.

***********************************

Tucker: Ah, thank you. Yeah, uh, Ashley and I have been getting reacquainted.

[ Sniffs ] At first, she was as wary of me as you are, but I think I’m winning her over.

Sharon: And how on earth have you managed to do that?

Tucker: Uh, it hasn’t been easy. I’ve convinced her that I’m a changed man.

Sharon: Oh. Are you?

Tucker: [Chuckling] Yeah. I had a near-death experience recently, and, uh, it made me reevaluate my priorities. And so now I’m concentrating on those people who matter the most to me — Ashley, Devon, Dominic.

Sharon: Hmm. Somehow I just don’t find that completely plausible.

Tucker: Based on what?

Sharon: Well, a few years ago I got my degree in psychology, and I actually…

Tucker: Did you really?

Sharon: …Work as a therapist now. Yeah, and it’s given me very good insight into people.

Tucker: Analyze me. Come on. Let’s — let’s hear it. I think it’s gonna be challenging for you.

Sharon: I don’t think that you are as complicated as you think you are.

Tucker: Mm.

Sharon: You think you’re the smartest one around, and that’s why you believe that we’re all gonna buy what you’re selling.

Tucker: Well, my car crash is a matter of public record. You could just look that up yourself.

Sharon: Well, I don’t think you’re lying about that, but real, long-lasting change — that usually doesn’t come in an instant, from one traumatic experience. It takes work, Tucker.

Tucker: I’ve done the work. I spent a little time in an ashram.

Sharon: Ooh! Well, I bet that impressed Ashley.

Mariah: Hey, mom, is this the box you were looking for?

Sharon: Oh, yay! You found it! That is full of all my favorite holiday keepsakes.

Mariah: Uh, surely you can’t mean this old thing.

Sharon: Uh, yeah! Who wouldn’t love a holiday musical light-up tv?

Tessa: Ooh, that’s a favorite?

Sharon: Yeah!

Mariah: Mom, it’s so corny, and it only works, like, half the time.

Sharon: Okay, it is not Christmas unless that is prominently displayed somewhere for everyone to see.

Mariah: Uh, except it’s kind of an eyesore.

Sharon: No, don’t say that. Nick gave it to me when we spent our first Christmas together. And he meant it as a joke, and it always made me laugh.

Mariah: Well, that is just like him, making dad jokes before he was even a dad.

*********************************

Chelsea: I know what you’re doing here. You came to check in on me.

Chloe: No. I mean, can’t a friend just want to hang out with her bestie?

Chelsea: And shouldn’t you be home with your family, getting ready to celebrate the holidays?

Chloe: Honestly, I just needed a moment away from Miles yanking the ornaments off of the tree. And Bella is still singing the song she did at her Christmas pageant.

Chelsea: Aww, that’s sweet.

Chloe: Yeah, the first thousand times. I love my daughter’s little angelical voice, but if I hear that song one more time, I swear I’m going… so, you would actually be doing me a favor in giving me a quiet sanctuary.

Chelsea: Well, then, by all means, come in.

Chloe: [ Sighs ]

Chelsea: To be honest with you, I’m taking a holiday from the holiday music, as well. So, let’s just sit back, relax, and enjoy Esther’s delicious pastry.

Young & The Restless Update

Update written by Barbara

Sitting on a bench sipping coffee, Sally listens as Nick tells her how inquisitive Christian has become about Santa Claus. She opens up about her childhood and what it was like growing up with parents who were carnival workers, traveling from small town to small town, sleeping in tents and basically being nomads. She also tells him that her parents eventually abandoned her and her sister, Coco, and they were raised by their “grams.” She mentions that she is named after her great aunt, Sally, who was a legend in the fashion world.

Nick hangs on her every word and is sad for what Sally experienced. She lets him know that she does not feel sorry for herself because her past made her “scrappy”. As snow begins to fall, Nick puts his arm around her and they kiss.  After taking another sip of her coffee, Sally has an uncomfortable look on her face and says that the coffee isn’t agreeing with her. When Nick goes to throw away their cups, she puts her hands around her stomach.

Billy brings Johnny over to Chelsea’s apartment so Johnny can exchange Christmas gifts with her. Connor comes out of his bedroom, the boys start to talk video gaming, and Johnny offers to help Connor get to the next level of what they’ve been playing.

Adam shows up because he is going out to dinner with Connor and Chelsea. Connor invites Johnny to join them. Billy is hesitant about letting him go so Chelsea suggests that Billy come along.  Billy turns down Chelsea’s invitation, but Johnny says he hopes he can still go since he’s helping Connor master a video game. Billy fine with it and gives permission for Johnny to go out to dinner with Connor, Chelsea and Adam.

While the boys put on their jackets, Adam lets Billy know that he knows his sister well enough to be aware that she will not be on board with letting Johnny spend time with Chelsea.

Turns out Adam is right about Victoria because when Billy tells her that Johnny is going out to dinner with his bio mom, Connor and Adam, she freaks. Billy says he doesn’t see anything harmful about the situation because they agreed to let Johnny take the lead and this is what he wants.

Victoria remains very uneasy, so Billy takes her over to Society, where Johnny is enjoying himself, laughing and having fun with Connor, Chelsea and Adam.

Chelsea invites Billy and Victoria to join them, and Adam pulls up another chair.

At the Abbott house, Daniel stops by with Christmas presents and enjoys spending time with his sister and Kyle.  He asks what they’re doing for the holiday season and all they tell him is that that they’re having a Christmas “adventure” with Harrison.

Daniel opens up about the deal he made with Chancellor-Winters to develop up a gaming platform with the company. When asked about Heather and Lucy, Daniel remains mum about what has happened between them.

Back at his suite, Daniel is unable to concentrate with work on his laptop so he opens the mini bar and gets one of the tiny bottles of alcohol and swigs it down. He sits down on the bed and watches the snow fall outside the window, looking sad and lonely. It doesn’t last long, though because there’s a knock on the door. When Daniel opens it, his father, Danny is standing there and they share a warm embrace.

When Kyle, Summer and Harrison arrive at the cabin, Diane is nowhere to be found. She eventually returns, mentioning that she wanted to go for a walk in the snow. Harrison calls out “DiDi” and races over to her excitedly. Diane is in seventh heaven being able to spend the evening decorating the Christmas tree that Harrison picked out. Kyle tells Harrison that putting a star on the top of the tree is a tradition and a special honor. Harrison is enthused so Kyle lifts him up so he can put the star  on the top of the tree.

Back at Jeremy’s hotel suite, he expresses his anger toward Jack because he thinks that Jack may have led him on a wild goose chase to find Diane. Jack covers and chalks it up to Diane simply being very good at disappearing.

He starts urging Jeremy to take the cash he is offering him, but Jeremy refuses. This causes Jack to double the offer up to a million dollars and promise to get the remainder to Jeremy the day after Christmas. Jeremy appears to capitulate, telling Jack that he will keep the $500,000 and stay in Genoa City long enough to get the other half. Jack makes a point of mentioning the importance of taking the full million and staying out of prison.

After Jack leaves and Jeremy is alone, he grins slyly , while Jack has a look of discomfort as he walks down the hallway to leave the hotel.

Recap written by Eva

Kyle, Summer, and Harrison spend Christmas Eve with Diane at the Abbott cabin.

Johnny wants to have dinner with Adam, Chelsea, and Connor so he and Connor can talk about how to get to the next level of their favorite video game. Billy gives Johnny permission to go but Victoria gets upset when Billy tells her that he let Johnny go with Chelsea and Adam to dinner. Billy and Victoria go to Society to check on Johnny. Chelsea invites Billy and Victoria to join them for dessert. Billy notices that it is beginning to snow, and everyone looks at the snow.

Sally tells Nick that her parents were carnival workers, so she and her sister never had a traditional Christmas. Sally explains that her parents later left her and her sister to be raised by her grandmother and Aunt Sally. Sally thinks she has drunk too much coffee because she doesn’t feel well.

Daniel is alone in his hotel room drinking and feeling sad when someone knocks on the door and Daniel is happy to see Danny has come to spend Christmas with him.

Jack leads Stark on a wild goose chase and pretends to be angry that they didn’t find Diane where he thought she was going to be. Jack says that Diane knows how to hide and she probably won’t return to Genoa City. Jack offers Jeremy one million dollars to leave town and Jeremy accepts the offer.

Nick: Thanks for meeting me. Sorry I could only fit in coffee today.

Sally: It’s no problem. I know it’s close to christmas and you have a lot of family obligations.

Nick: Yeah, I got a lot going on. I’ll tell you, christian is starting to ask me some pretty tough questions.

Sally: Uh-oh. Like, “what’s in the eggnog?” Or, “how do you make those little popcorn strings for the tree?” Actually, I want to know the answer to the eggnog question.

Nick: Egg yolk, milk, whipped cream, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. And then throw in some alcohol if you want the big-boy version.

Summer: Uh, yum. Why are we not drinking that right now?

Nick: I mean, that does sound good, but that’s not one of the questions christian was asking me.

Sally: [ Sighs ] What did he want to know?

Nick: Started off pretty innocently. Uh, he wanted to know, you know, how could we be sure that santa had christian’s list for everything he wanted.

Sally: Mm.

Nick: Which then led to, “how could santa possibly read all the letters from all the kids from around the world?” And then the tough one — “how could the big guy in the red suit make all those deliveries on christmas eve in one night?”

Sally: Sounds like you endured the santa inquisition.

Nick: Whew, it was tough. I mean, the kid was trying to pin me down.

Sally: What’d you end up telling him?

Nick: I went with, uh, “there’s no easy explanation. It’s just, uh — it’s just that magical.”

Sally: Smooth.

Nick: Yeah. Yeah. I felt good about it.

Sally: Yeah, you seem pretty proud of yourself.

Nick: Yeah. But it’s true. You know, with christmas and in life, sometimes you just got to believe in the magic.

Sally: [ Chuckles ]

Billy: Hi.

Chelsea: Hey.

Billy: Sorry we’re late.

Chelsea: Oh, don’t be silly. Come on in. Connor, can you come out here, please? Johnny and billy are here. They’ll be out in a minute. He’s playing some video game.

Johnny: Oh, “legendary odyssey”?

Chelsea: Yeah.

Johnny: Yeah.

Chelsea: That’s the one.

Johnny: Mm-hmm.

Chelsea: Well, I’m so glad you guys are here. Thanks for coming over.

Billy: Yeah, of course. Uh, happy to — happy to be here. Happy holidays, of course. Uh, you want to want to share your gifts?

Johnny: Yeah. Um, for connor and for you.

Chelsea: That’s so sweet. You didn’t have to do that.

Johnny: Well, I…

we wanted to, and, uh, dad said you had one for me, so I just figured…

Chelsea: I do. I do. Here you go.

Johnny: Thank you. Merry christmas.

Chelsea: Merry christmas to you, too.

Daniel: Hey! Hey!

Sally: Hey you!

Daniel: Wow! Ahh.

Summer: How long has it been since we’ve spent christmas eve together? So good to see you.

Daniel: Oh, thank you for having me. Wow. Oh, my god. This place looks exactly like i remember it.

Summer: Mm. [ Chuckles ]

Kyle: Merry christmas, daniel.

Daniel: Hey.

Kyle: Hey.

Daniel: Merry christmas to you, too.

Kyle: [ Chuckles ] And a belated welcome back to genoa city. I’m sorry we haven’t had a chance to get together sooner.

Daniel: Oh, I know. Seriously, man. You know, I’ve been home for, what, a couple weeks, and I had to track you down and come to you.

Kyle: Well, I guess your wedding invitation got lost in the mail.

Summer: [ Laughs ]

Daniel: Which one now?

Kyle: Okay, maybe we’ll have another ceremony just for you.

Daniel: Ah.

Kyle: But seriously, man, you were missed.

Daniel: Well, it’s good to be home.

[ Chuckles ]

Kyle: You settling in okay?

Daniel: Yeah. So far, so good.

Summer: Oh, come on. Don’t be so modest. You’re already making waves in the business world.

Daniel: Well, I wouldn’t go that far yet.

Kyle: Well, have a seat.

Daniel: Thank you.

Kyle: Summer tells me you’re working on a big project for chancellor-winters.

Daniel: Ah, it’s true. It’s very true. Um, and I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity.

Kyle: Well, I’d love to hear about it. Another time. We were just about to head out.

Summer: Well, daniel wouldn’t tell you about the project anyway because apparently it is top secret. He won’t even give me a hint.

Daniel: Now that it’s official, it’s not so big of a secret anymore. I’m gonna be heading up a new gaming division at chancellor-winters.

Summer: That’s amazing!

Kyle: Yeah, that’s great news. Congrats, man.

Daniel: Thank you. Thank you.

Summer: Wow.

Daniel: Yeah. Look, I can fill you in on all the details another time, whenever you get back from wherever. Where are you going? What are you doing?

Kyle: It’s, uh… it’s a secret.

Johnny: What level are you on?

Connor: Still stuck on level eight.

Johnny: I just figured out how to get to level nine.

Connor: Cool. Show me.

Johnny: Yeah. [ Chuckles ]

Billy: I mean, that’s pretty adorable.

Chelsea: I know. I love it. I really do.

Adam: [ Exhales sharply ] Oh, you have been a busy elf. This is the very picture of the christmas spirit. Covid-19 moves fast and now you can too

Summer: We are going on a little surprise adventure with harrison tonight.

Kyle: Yeah, maybe we’ll see some reindeer or santa, but we’ll be back in time to spend christmas day with the families.

Daniel: Ah. Sounds good. Bet he’s gonna get a kick out of that.

Kyle: Yeah. Speaking of which, I’m going to go upstairs and check on him and make sure he has everything we need for our little trip.

Summer: Hey. I know how difficult it must be to be away from lucy and heather on the holidays. You’ve been pretty vague about the source of tension between you guys, but do you want to tell me any more about what happened?

Sally: You really are great at the whole dad thing. And your children obviously adore you.

Nick: Eh, it’s not always easy, but my kids are absolutely everything to me.

Summer: It’s faith’s first christmas away from the nest, isn’t it? How are you doing with that?

Nick: Miss her like crazy.

[ Chuckles ] But that’s the thing with parenting — you know, your job, if you do it well, is to send your kids out into the world, you know, help them be independent. And if they do that, success, sadly, is not having them around much.

Sally: Yeah. Yeah, I could see how that could be hard.

Nick: Yeah. I’m happy for faith, you know? Getting to spend the holidays in the swiss alps with her roommate is awesome for her. But it means I don’t get to have her here with me, and I hate that.

Sally: Yeah, it makes perfect sense.

Nick: You got to let them go, you know? And if you get lucky, they come back, you know, for a while. Noah’s proof of that.

Sally: Yeah. I mean, you have one son who runs his own nightclub and another one who keeps pressing you on the logistics of santa’s mission. It’s a — it’s a pretty big age range.

Nick: Yeah. You calling me out for that?

[ Both laugh ]

Sally: No, no, not at all. I-I’m calling you versatile. A man who can pal around with his adult kids, raise his young ones, and knows the recipe for eggnog? Geez, man. Sign me up.

Nick: That’s a good save. I’ll take it. Each of my kids is an incredible gift. You know, being a parent is the best thing I’ll ever do. You know, I have to admit, I’ve never actually seen it up close, a parent who actually loves being a parent.

[ Door closes ]

Billy: Chelsea was kind enough to give johnny a christmas present, so he wanted to reciprocate. And it was a, uh — it was a big step.

Adam: Right. Yeah, I, uh — I get it. I was serious when I said there was a good christmas vibe when i walked in here.

Billy: So, you’re just stopping by?

Chelsea: No. Adam came to pick up connor and me and take us to dinner. It was something we had planned earlier.

Billy: I didn’t know.

Adam: Yeah. But it is really nice the boys are getting along so well. I’m genuinely happy that they’re building a friendship together. So, I don’t want to interrupt that good time. If you guys were in the middle of opening presents, we can always go later.

Billy: No. It’s all good.

Adam: Hey! You ready to, uh, get some dinner?

Connor: Yeah. Can johnny come with us?

Adam: I’m fine with that, if it’s okay with johnny’s dad.

Chelsea: Well, why don’t both johnny and billy join us for dinner?

Billy: I appreciate that, but I’m gonna have to pass tonight.

Chelsea: Okay.

Johnny: But I can go, right?

Nick: What do you mean when you say you’ve never seen a parent who loves being a parent?

Sally: [ Chuckles ] Um… well, I’ve never really told you much about my childhood. So, prepare yourself for a very different kind of holiday story.

Nick: [ Chuckles ] Okay.

Sally: [ Clears throat ] ‘Twas the night before christmas, and it was just like any other damn night. Not a creature was stirring. But the carnies were drinking and carrying on.

Nick: You say carnies?

Sally: [ Sighs, chuckles ] Yeah. Yeah. My parents were legit carnival workers.

Nick: Like in a circus?

Sally: Well, a circus definitely would have been a step up. We had more of, like, a county fair vibe. But, uh, yeah, we were nomads traveling from one small town to the next.

Nick: Wow. I can’t even imagine what that was like for you. Did you go to school?

Sally: No. We were more or less left to educate ourselves. But I did actually learn a lot about engineering from watching the tilt-a-whirl be put together and torn apart every time we relocated.

Nick: Did you have friends?

Sally: Um…the tilt-a-whirl guy was — he was actually really cool.

[ Both laugh ] Um, but kids my own age, um… no. My sister coco and I used to sit behind the concession booth, and we would just watch other little girls eating their cotton candy with their doting parents. And, you know, we would just wonder what their lives were like.

Nick: It’s like you lived in your own little world.

Sally: Yeah, exactly. So, you know, when the holidays rolled around… suffice it to say that coco and I were not tucked in our beds with visions of sugarplums dancing in our heads. We were sleeping in tents and shoveling up after horses and elephants ’cause, you know, show business.

[ Chuckles ] Yeah. Our idea of a christmas miracle was not finding a clown passed out in our bunk.

Nick: Right. Yeah, that sounds, um… interesting and alarming.

Sally: [ Chuckles ] Yeah. I mean, I have to say it, it had its moments. But, um…

[ Sighs ] Our parents were always getting into trouble. And not the fun kind. And so, yeah, one day it just… caught up with them. And they just took off. To all a good night.

Nick: So, they just abandoned you?

Sally: Um…yeah. Yeah, but, you know, it was — it was a long time ago, and I — I’ve made peace with it. But that is where my rather unique perspective of parenthood comes from.

Nick: I’m sorry you went through that, sally. Every kid deserves parents who sees bringing a child into this world as the miracle that it is.

Johnny: Come on, dad. Please? I’ve been trying to get connor to the next level in “legendary odyssey,” and it takes a ton of explaining.

Billy: Oh, I see how that works. So, it’s gonna take the entire dinner to explain it to him?

Johnny: Exactly.

Chelsea: Ooh, gaming talk at the table — my favorite.

Billy: Yeah, not really in the christmas spirit of things, right? That’s kind of rude.

Johnny: Or I think of it this way. Connor and I will be out of your hair, and you adults can talk about whatever you want.

Connor: It’s a win-win.

Billy: Alright. You can go.

Chelsea: Are you sure?

Billy: Yes I will explain to victoria that connor’s video gaming future depends on it, you know? It’s alright. I’ll talk to her. She’ll be okay.

Chelsea: Alright. Grab your coats, please.

Johnny: Yeah.

Adam: Are you sure victoria’s gonna be okay with this? Because I know my sister, and i find that hard to believe, billy.

Billy: I’ll talk to her. Do me a favor. Can you drop off johnny at my place after?

Adam: Okay.

Chelsea: Thank you both for this. It’s a nice way to kick off the holiday.

Daniel: You know, now is not the time for this conversation. You go have fun with your family. Don’t worry about me. I’m confident that, you know, things with lucy and heather — they’re — they’re gonna work out. And right now, I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. I’m here with the rest of my family. And starting this new project — I mean, that’s gonna change the whole trajectory of my life. So, things are good.

Summer: Well, I’m glad. And, honestly, I am thrilled that you have found this new outlet for your creativity. Launching the chancellor-winters gaming division? That’s a huge deal. And I hope things go just as well in your personal life.

Kyle: Harrison wants to finish his cartoon. Then we can leave.

Daniel: Oh. Well, in that case, uh, have a safe journey and a merry christmas.

Summer: Well, I definitely plan on spending some hardcore quality time with you and mom on christmas day.

Daniel: I’m gonna hold you to that.

Kyle: Hey, merry christmas, man.

Daniel: Merry christmas.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] Is everything okay with daniel?

Summer: Yeah. I think so. Are you ready for a big adventure?

Kyle: Ooh, I sure am. Harrison’s gonna be thrilled. Let’s do this.

Victoria: Hi. Where’s johnny?

Billy: He’s upstairs. And before you jump to conclusions —

Victoria: Please don’t tell me that you left him with chelsea.

Billy: Okay, just hold on a second, okay?

Victoria: You know, billy, I’ve been more than understanding. I went along with you taking johnny to get a gift for chelsea. I even agreed to her giving johnny his present in person.

Billy: Just let me explain for a second. ‘Cause I think you’ll actually be really proud of your son. He gave chelsea her gift, and it meant the world to her. And I could tell that he felt really good doing it. And I didn’t just leave him up there with chelsea. Connor and adam are there, too, and they plan on going to dinner together. Johnny really wanted to join them, so I said yes. They’re getting along so well, I saw no reason to say no.

Victoria: Are you serious right now? Johnny is with chelsea and adam? What were you thinking?

[ Sighs ] This cough.

[Sfx: Coughs]

Billy: Johnny wanted to join them for dinner, and we agreed that we would follow johnny’s lead when it comes to chelsea.

Victoria: Yes, but going to dinner with both chelsea and adam together — that’s a lot.

Billy: If they’re going to a public restaurant, okay, nothing bad is gonna happen.

Victoria: Yes, but that’s not the point. It’s christmas and christmas is supposed to be for family and you just sent johnny off with them.

Billy: I hear you, okay? I know this is difficult for you. And I’m sorry if I overstepped. I should have asked you first. But we need to accept that adam and chelsea and connor — they’re johnny’s family, too.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] I know. And I’m trying to do that, but it’s really difficult for me. You’re johnny’s biological father. Your relationship with him hasn’t changed, but — but mine has.

Billy: I don’t know if that’s entirely true. I mean, johnny’s known almost his entire life that you didn’t give birth to him. And you are still his mom. And even after finding out the truth about chelsea, nothing’s changed. You’re still his mom.

Victoria: Yeah, and so is chelsea, biologically. I’m really worried if they start to get closer that — I worry that the lines will get blurred.

Billy: I don’t know. The way I see it, chelsea is just another part of his big, extended family. And I think he views it the same way.

Victoria: I hope so, billy. But this isn’t the same as him going to dinner with — with nick or the abbotts. I mean, this isn’t just about chelsea. I mean, the tension between adam and my family has really ratcheted up lately. And this is an — it’s an emotionally loaded situation.

Billy: Oh, I agree. But connor and chelsea — they’re part of his world. I get it. He’s up there with adam right now, okay? And I’m not a fan of adam’s, alright? I’m the exact opposite of that. But I have to figure out how to be cordial for everyone’s sake, most importantly, the boys.

Victoria: Yes, but there has to be a happy medium. I mean, you can still be a nice person and not be a pushover. We say no to johnny about other things all the time.

Billy: They’re just gonna go for dinner, okay? And those boys — they’re actually starting to get along really well. After finding out that they’re biological half-brothers, they’re actually closer than they’ve ever been.

Victoria: I know. I don’t have an issue with johnny spending time with connor.

Billy: And as far as chelsea, you have spent some time with her. And I think you would agree that emotionally she’s stronger.

Victoria: Well, that was not my big takeaway from her apology. But I do appreciate that she made the effort.

Billy: And compared to a few months ago, she’s made some pretty amazing strides. And I don’t think anything negative is gonna come from her and johnny spending a little time together, okay? I really believe that. And that’s our son. And this is what he wants. We have to support him.

Victoria: Alright. I hear what you’re saying. But I need to see that for myself.

You okay? You sure you’re ready for this?

Chelsea: How about we take that table right there, hmm?

Connor: Yeah.

Chelsea: [ Exhales sharply ] Connor, napkin. We’re not camping. And put your phone away, please.

Adam: Well, I hope you boys worked up an appetite.

Connor: I’m starving.

Johnny: Yeah, me too.

Chelsea: I love the menu here. Everything is delicious. Except — no cilantro. It’s just not my thing.

Johnny: Yeah. Does it taste like soap to you?

Chelsea: It does.

Johnny: Yeah, me too.

Chelsea: Yeah.

Connor: Same with me.

Kyle: Whew.

[ Both chuckle ]

Summer: I’m glad you got a good nap in. You closed your eyes, and then — poof! — We’re here.

Kyle: Ahh, look at all this snow! It’s a white christmas! Hopefully there’s enough for us to go sledding. Ooh, you want to see your big surprise? Mom?

Harrison: Dee dee!

Kyle: [ Chuckles ] Uh…mom?

[ Door closes ] Hey, mom? She’s not here.

[ Sighs ] Want your clothes to smell freshly

“The young and the restless”

will continue. With directv I can get live tvand on demand together:

Sally: It’s not like I grew up on the streets or anything or without love. I went to live with my grams, who basically raised me.

Nick: What was grams like?

Sally: [ Sighs ] She — [ Chuckles ] She is the most generous and caring woman. She’s a little rough around the edges. But she is strong and fearless, and she gives me unconditional support even when I’m doing something totally nuts.

Nick: I’m glad you have someone in your corner.

Sally: Yeah, me too. And it wasn’t just her. I idolized my great aunt sally, my namesake — and, not to mention, a famous designer. I had these two really strong women who were my teachers and my inspiration.

Nick: Well, it sounds like a much better life than a carnie life.

Sally: Yeah. I mean, the money was tight sometimes, but — I don’t know — I feel like it was kind of a blessing because it taught me to be creative and it turned me into a scrapper.

Nick: Nothing wrong with being a scrapper.

Sally: I always felt safe. You know, there was something really special about growing up in a household that was just 100% female because it never crossed my mind that there was anything that a woman can’t do or that I should wait for some prince to ride in on his white horse and save me when the going got rough. Anyway, I’m — I’M… I’m really happy with the way things turned out.

Nick: I am, too.

Summer: [ Chuckles ] Anyway, enough about my past, as entertaining as it might be.

Nick: It’s pretty entertaining.

Sally: Yeah, yeah, I know.

Nick: [ Laughs ]

Sally: I know. I really want to talk about the whole christmas present thing.

Nick: Ooh. Alright. Let’s get into it. What about it?

Sally: Okay. Just that we have made a big point of taking things slow, so I just really wasn’t sure what’s appropriate, gift wise, you know? I mean, if we’re following our relationship guidelines, it seems like there should be some limitations.

Nick: Yeah, yeah, yeah, if we’re following the, uh, spirit of the agreement.

Sally: Right. There should be severe limitations.

Nick: Yes. Are you giving me a hint that this is something that I should not go overboard on, like, with a gift?

Sally: I just want to make sure that you don’t do anything that’s over the top. ‘Cause you know how people say — they do the thing where it’s like, “oh, yeah, no expensive gifts,” and then one person doesn’t follow the rules and… I just — you know, you didn’t — you didn’t do that, right?

Nick: No, I wouldn’t do that to you.

Sally: Okay. Good.

Nick: We’re not talking about this because that’s what you did for me, right?

Sally: No, no, no. I mean, you know, I — no. I just want to make sure we’re in sync.

Nick: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I feel real good about my gift choice for you.

Sally: Oh. Good. Me too. You’re really gonna love your coffee mug. It’s got a really funny quote on it. I would tell you what it says, but I don’t want to ruin the surprise, you know?

Nick: Yeah. Okay. Well, I know you’re just gonna love your book of sudoku. I mean, it’s hours of entertainment.

Sally: Ooh. It’s snowing.

Nick: Wow.

Sally: [ Chuckles ]

Nick: Seems like, uh, perfect timing.

Sally: Yeah. Except for I totally forgot to put on my snow tires.

Nick: Ah, that’s a minor obstacle. We’ll just catch a ride with santa. I’m choosing to believe in the magical.

Summer: I know how difficult it must be to be away from lucy and heather on the holidays. You’ve been pretty vague about the source of tension between you guys, but do you want to tell me any more about what happened?

Kyle: Um, there was just a little mix-up, but we’re gonna get it worked out.

Summer: Yeah. How about we have a juice box in the meantime?

Kyle: Yeah. I’m gonna reach out to my dad.

[ Door opens ]

Harrison: Dee dee!

Diane: Hi! You’re here! Ah!

Kyle: We were a little worried when we didn’t see you.

Diane: Oh, I’m sorry. Hey! I took a walk, and the snow is so beautiful. I had to stop and take it in. And then I saw your car, and i just rushed right back.

Summer: We thought we would go on a christmas eve adventure.

Diane: Ah. This is the best surprise. Merry christmas.

Kyle: Aww, merry christmas.

Diane: [ Chuckles ]

[ Lock whirs, disengages ]

Jack: I honestly thought that’s where diane would go to hide out.

Jeremy: You said you knew where she was.

Jack: I said I knew her. Obviously, that wasn’t the case. This woman faked her death and was gone for years. I only knew she was alive when she told me. Look, she’s obviously developed some disappearing skills.

Jeremy: Look, I admit she is a clever woman, but is she more clever than the both of us?

Jack: You tell me. I’m as lost in this as you are.

Jeremy: Look, I’m not so sure about that. I would hate to think that you led me on a wild goose chase. If you think all pads are exactly the same…

Jack: It is not my fault that diane is good at covering her tracks. You’re the one that made her flee. Look, as I’ve made abundantly clear, I just want this to end. This woman comes back to town and says she’s changed her life, that she’s lived this modest life in L.A., Transforming herself, making all these changes. None of it was true. It was lie after lie.

Jeremy: I suppose we’ve all been subjected to her lies.

Jack: Okay, I just want my life back. She drew you to town. You obviously want revenge and you want money. Diane convinced the whole world she was dead for years. Good luck finding her. I already said that I would cover her debts.

Jeremy: No, thanks.

Jack: What if I doubled my offer? $1,000,000 to forget diane and move on. Half the money’s in the briefcase there. I can get you the other half day after christmas. It’s a heck of a lot more than you’re gonna get directly from diane, if you ever manage to track her down. You just got out of prison. You can do anything you want. Why waste any more of your time on diane?

Kyle: Okay. Alright.

Diane: Alright.

Kyle: You ready?

Summer: [ Laughs ]

Kyle: Let’s watch. One, two, three.

Diane: Ah! It’s fantastic!

Summer: Oh, it really is. How did you guys find such a perfect tree?

Kyle: Well, harrison picked it out. He knew it was the right one. Kid’s got a good eye.

Summer: All we have to do is decorate it, and I think that we have some ornaments in the kitchen, so why don’t you come with me and we’ll go get them?

Kyle: [ Laughs ]

Diane: Is everything okay back home?

Kyle: I’ll work it out. Okay.

Diane: Ah, this is the most special christmas ever.

Kyle: [ Laughs ]

Diane: Hey, can I help you decorate?

Kyle: Ooh.

Diane: Here. Let me see. Wow. Hey, harrison, you want to put this one on? I guess you’ve got some other ones.

Harrison: No, I want to do the reindeer holding —

Diane: Okay. Do him. Alright. You want me to hold the mushroom while you do the reindeer?

Harrison: No, no, no, he holds the mushroom.

Diane: Oh, okay. Well, let’s put it on here.

Harrison: Look at what — no, he’s holding a marshmallow, too.

[ Laughter ]

Billy: I’m telling you, there’s nothing to be upset about.

[ Indistinct conversations ]

Chelsea: That’s funny.

[ Laughter ]

Adam: It’s funny, isn’t it?

Chelsea: I think — it is. That is very funny, actually.

Billy: See? It’s all good.

I’ll remember that chapter

of my life forever.

Kyle: Well, this isn’t exactly how I thought I’d be spending christmas, but each year is always a little different. I’ve loved every one of them. The holidays you and I spent together when I was little, just the two of us. And all the times I went to the big annual abbott celebration.

Diane: Ah.

Kyle: You know, my dad is always a rock for our family whenever he brings everyone together. It’s impossible not to feel the love and warmth.

Diane: Aww.

Summer: I’ve always felt that, too, at your house whenever I’ve spent the holidays there. I mean, don’t get me wrong. I love christmas at the ranch, too. The newmans know how to do christmas very well.

Kyle: I’ll give you that.

[ Chuckles ]

Summer: You know, we are so lucky to have such special families who love us so much.

Kyle: Mm. Couldn’t agree more.

Diane: I may have a complicated relationship with some of the people in both of your families, but, um, I’m working on it, and I’m not going to stop until things are better. You know, when I spent all those christmases alone in L.A., I never imagined that a moment like this would be possible.

Kyle: Putting the star on top of the tree is a christmas tradition and a special honor. You want to do it, harrison? Yeah? Okay.

[ Laughter ] Okay. Here’s the star.

Summer: Ooh.

Kyle: Whoa.

Diane: Okay. Ah!

Kyle: Yeah!

Diane: Perfect! Ah!

Harrison: I didn’t put the star on.

Summer: [ Laughs ]

Diane: The tree is stunning. My grandson is stunning. I’m with my son and his beautiful wife. This might not be the most traditional christmas, but it’s the most wonderful one I could imagine. It’s everything I’ve dreamed about for so long. Ah.

Harrison: I made a hat.

Diane: You did.

[ Laughter ]

Jack: So, what do you say? We have a deal?

Jeremy: Alright. You talked me into it. I’ll keep this cash and stick around long enough until you get the rest.

Jack: I’m glad you’re listening to reason.

Jeremy: [ Chuckles ] What can I say? You made me an offer that’s hard to refuse.

Jack: I will have the other half the day after christmas.

Jeremy: And I’ll be out of your lives. Consider it an early christmas present, one that you clearly want.

Jack: Just as you want to stay out of prison. And I’m sure you’re smart enough not to jeopardize that.

Nick: I’m glad we had this talk.

Sally: Yeah, spending time with you is always good.

Sally: Ohh.

[ Clears throat ]

Nick: You okay? What’s wrong?

Summer: Uh, I’m not sure. But, um, no more — no more coffee for me. It’s definitely not agreeing with me.

Nick: Okay. Do you want to get out of here?

Summer: Uh, yeah. Yeah, I think so.

Nick: I’ll throw these away.

Sally: Okay.

[ Exhales sharply ]

[ Clears throat ]

Billy: Hey, boys. How are you doing?

Johnny: Good. How are you?

Victoria: Hi. Are you guys having fun?

Billy: So, what’d you eat?

Johnny: Uh, chicken quesadillas.

Billy: Ahh. That’s good. And how’s the video game conference going? Have you figured out how to crack level eight yet?

Connor: We’re working on it.

Billy: [ Chuckles ]

Johnny: Yeah, I’m giving him tips.

Billy: I’m sure you are.

Chelsea: Are you hungry? Why don’t you sit down and join us?

Adam: Yeah. Let me pull up an extra chair.

Victoria: Oh, thank you.

Billy: Check it out. It’s actually starting to snow out there finally.

Victoria: Oh, wow.

Billy: It’s starting to feel like christmas.

[ Knock on door ]

[ Cellphone thuds ] Dad.

Danny: Merry christmas, son.

[ Laughs ]

Daniel: Hey.

Ashley: Looks like I caught you at a bad time.

Tucker: No, on the contrary. I was just about to get in the shower. That’s the perfect time. It’s where I do all my good thinking.

[ Both chuckle ]

Ashley: Well, I guess I’ll take your word for that.

Tucker: You want to come in and wait? I’ll just be a few minutes.

Ashley: Um, that’s kind of weird. You know, when we were on the phone a couple hours ago, you said that you were just getting out of the shower.

Kyle: Summer and I will be packed up and ready to leave at a moment’s notice.

Summer: Harrison’s at home. So, we can grab him and head to the cabin as soon as you give word, jack.

Jack: If all goes according to plan, this should give you enough time to get away without stark following you.

Kyle: I don’t like the idea of you taking him on alone.

Jack: Hey, I don’t like any of this — ex-con showing up in town to threaten your mother. But it is what it is, and we have to deal with it.

Kyle: Stark seems extremely unpredictable.

Jack: In my experience, the best way to deal with people like stark is to be direct and forceful. Right or wrong, they respond to a show of strength.

Summer: Just be careful.

Jack: I will be. You be cautious, too. And as soon as I give you the word, you get harrison up to that cabin and into his grandmother’s arms as quickly as you can. I will see you both on christmas day with the rest of the family. And with any luck, by then, stark will be out of our lives.

Allie: You missed a couple empty glasses back there.

Noah: Hey.

Allie: [ Sighs ] Isn’t it your staff’s job to clean up?

Noah: Yeah, but I just want to make sure everything’s ready for tonight. I want people to feel warm, welcome.

Allie: You sure that people are going to come to the club on christmas eve?

Noah: Yeah, I think there’s a lot of people out there that are away from their homes and away from their families. I want them to feel welcome here. Maybe it’ll even turn into a holiday tradition, like my mom does over at crimson lights.

Allie: Yeah, yeah, I love that. You want to make sure that people have a place to celebrate.

Noah: Yeah. And no charge. Food and drink specials all night.

Allie: It’s a great way to give back.

Noah: Well, I appreciate you coming out, sacrificing part of your christmas eve for me.

Allie: Yeah, of course. I mean, why wouldn’t I come, right?

Noah: Uh, I-I don’t know. Maybe had something to do with your family.

Allie: Nope. Nope, uh, things are pretty quiet at the house. So, uh, everything here up to your standards?

Noah: Yeah. Yeah. You know, pretty much, uh, except for those two glasses on the table over there. Yeah, but more importantly… you look like absolute perfection tonight.

Tucker: Yeah, I did. I took a shower earlier, but in between, I grabbed a workout. The gym here is unbelievable. Have you seen it?

Ashley: No, I haven’t had the pleasure.

Tucker: Yeah, sometimes i take multiple showers in a day. Please don’t tell my, uh, water-conservationist friends.

Ashley: Yeah. Okay. Your secret is safe with me.

Tucker: You know what I love? You remembered that intimate detail from our conversation. Did it spark any memories?

Ashley: Of what?

Tucker: Uh, maybe you and me in the shower years ago?

Ashley: No.

Tucker: No?

Ashley: No. No, I guess I just have a good memory for detail.

Tucker: Ah, yes, yes. Well, the offer still stands. You can come in and wait, or… you can come in and join me.

Ashley: I think I’m going to go, you know? I think —

Tucker: Hold on. You know, ashley, wait a minute. I’m sorry. That was — ugh, that was a really crass invitation. I don’t know why I did that.

Ashley: I don’t, either, actually.

Tucker: Um, I don’t have to shower now. Come in. Let’s talk. Have a drink. (Vo) red lobster. The finer points of fun dining

provided by…

Ashley: Mm, no, thanks. I don’t really feel like a scotch and soda while you’re sitting there all sweaty and gross.

Tucker: Well, I got more than scotch. I got rum. I have gin and tonic, whatever you want.

Ashley: Yeah, I think I’m just going to stay out here.

Tucker: Well, hold on. Uh, why don’t I take a shower, by myself, and I’ll meet you upstairs at the club? I promise to be quick.

Ashley: Oh, I don’t want to rush you. Apparently, you get your best ideas in there.

Tucker: No, but, seriously, I would love to sit down and talk with you. You came here to tell me something. I’d like to know what it is.

Ashley: Yeah, I could use a little advice.

Tucker: Oh. Okay. Uh, I’ll be quick, and I’ll be right up. And hopefully I can help out. It’ll be my christmas gift to you.

Ashley: Well, how cheap of you.

Tucker: [ Laughs ]

Ashley: Actually, just a little conversation would be helpful.

Tucker: Okay.

Ashley: Okay. I’ll see you upstairs.

Tucker: See you.

[ Sighs ] You can come out now.

Audra: You know, it’s not exactly in my job description to hide in bathrooms. But I guess neither is our “colleagues with benefits” arrangement.

Tucker: I appreciate your discretion. Thank you. So, uh, before we… you were talking about striking out on your own.

Audra: I was. But after seeing how you handled ashley abbott, maybe you’re not so far from, you know, achieving your personal goal, which means that you’re one step closer to getting what you want on the business front, too. Perhaps I underestimated you.

Tucker: Wouldn’t be the first time, would it? Hey. Stick with me. If you do, I promise you I’ll get you that reward you deserve.

Kyle: The boy is very excited for our christmas eve mystery adventure.

Summer: [ Laughs ] Well, when you put it like that, even I’m excited.

Kyle: Well, he thinks there’s a possibility we’ll see a reindeer.

Summer: I wonder where he got an idea like that.

Kyle: Uh, he has an overactive imagination.

Summer: I love that you’re making this fun for harrison.

Kyle: Well, we just have to keep framing it that way. This is an adventure. Can’t let him get a whiff that there’s danger.

Summer: We have to stick to our story with everyone. We are going on a santa-tracking adventure, and we’re going to be back home in time for christmas dinner. I have our bags packed, and I got to throw some things together for harrison, and I have a few more presents upstairs that are tucked away, and then we should be ready to go.

Kyle: Whoa, you’re hiding presents upstairs?

Summer: Away from prying eyes.

Kyle: Oh, okay. Okay. Well, must be a very special present.

Summer: Every gift from me is special.

Kyle: Mm, you’re right about that. It’ll be nice to be able to give my mother her presents in person. I just wish it didn’t have to be like this.

Summer: Like jack said, nobody wants it to be like this. But it’s the way that it is, so we just need to make it work.

Kyle: For harrison’s sake.

Summer: Exactly. And I really believe that we are going to pull this off without a hitch. You’re still worried about your dad?

Kyle: Mm, how could I not be? He has the most dangerous job of all.

Jeremy: Jack. Any word on disappearing diane?

Jack: None.

Jeremy: Hmm. So, this is a social call?

Jack: Not exactly.

Jeremy: You know, that’s funny. You tell me to stay away. Now every time I turn around, you’re in my face. That’s a double standard.

Jack: Well, if it really bothers you, I think I have a way of making this end once and for all. When you’re ready to go, but static says “whoa.”

Audra: Uh, hello. Sharon rosales.

Sharon: That’s me.

Audra: You don’t know who i am, but —

Sharon: Actually, I do, audra. I’ve seen you in here before. I saw you the other day. You were talking to one of my baristas about noah. Anyway… nice to formally meet you.

Audra: Likewise. Noah had all kinds of photos of his beautiful family in his flat in london. I recognized you immediately, and he told me all about this place. Everything is so delicious.

Sharon: Thank you. But there’s really no need to butter me up. You and noah are not seeing each other anymore.

Audra: I meant it. I love it here in this town — so charming.

Sharon: So, I hear you are working at chancellor-winters. Sounds like it’s an important position.

Audra: Is there something you want to ask me?

Sharon: Well, I was just wondering if that’s a permanent position or just a temporary consultant job.

Audra: Is that a clever way of asking how long I plan on being in town?

Sharon: Exactly!

Allie: Wow. Look at this guest list. You are going to be packing them in.

Noah: It’s a big week leading up to new year’S.

Allie: You know what? I am so impressed. You had a vision. You set your mind to it. And you made this club a huge success.

Noah: Now, it wasn’t just me. I had a great team, plenty of friends and family supporting me… and you.

Allie: Me? What have I done?

Noah: You’ve been a rock for me. I can lean on you, bounce ideas off you.

Allie: [ Sighs ] That’s — it’s really not a big deal.

Noah: Yes, it is. And I want you to know that this is A… this is a two-way street. So, now, if there’s something on your mind, don’t hold back.

Allie: I’m not sure I know what you mean.

Noah: The last time that we talked, you asked me if you should be worried about audra.

Allie: Look, noah, I… this is not the right time to talk about this.

Noah: Yes, it is. And I don’t want this weighing on you.

Allie: Okay, yeah. I don’t like the thought of your ex kissing you.

Noah: It was completely one-sided. I swear. I hope that our conversation the other day didn’t make you think otherwise.

Allie: I don’t know, noah. You just have this really intense history, and I cannot help but be concerned that she’s not going to give up on getting you back.

Noah: Hey, hey. Just forget about her. I have.

Ashley: Hi, guys.

Noah: Hey.

Allie: Ashley, hey.

Ashley: Hi.

Noah: You here by yourself tonight?

Ashley: I am not. I’m actually meeting tucker.

Allie: Really?

Ashley: Don’t read anything into it. We just have a couple things to discuss.

Allie: Oh, no, I don’t judge. Despite the stunt that he pulled at kyle and summer’s vow renewal, I admire him a lot as a businessman.

Ashley: Okay.

Noah: Don’t worry about it. Allie is really good at not judging people. I have done plenty of idiotic things in front of her, and she’s never made fun of me.

Ashley: [ Laughing ] Okay. Good to know.

Noah: Let me grab you a seat.

Ashley: Okay. Just so great to see such a cute, happy couple. You are happy, aren’t you?

Allie: Yeah, I-I think we are.

Kyle: Whoa! More presents for harrison? I thought we said we weren’t going to overdo it this year.

Summer: This is just a little something that I couldn’t resist. Speaking of overdoing it, did you just sneak a can of mrs. Martinez’s cookies into our travel bag?

Kyle: [ Stammering ] You can’t expect me to celebrate christmas without cookies.

Summer: How are we doing on time?

Kyle: Well, if we want to get there before dark, we should leave soon.

Summer: We haven’t heard from jack yet. He didn’t want us to leave too early in case things go wrong on his end.

Kyle: He’s trying to negotiate with a convicted felon. What could go wrong?

Summer: You’re that concerned about him?

Kyle: Yes. Aren’t you?

Summer: I guess I just feel like jack always knows what he’s doing. He’s like my grandfather. If he says he’s going to do something, he gets it done. I trust him.

Kyle: I do, too.

Summer: I know what you need. A distraction. Why don’t you open this?

Kyle: Ooh, that is against the rules. It is not christmas yet.

Summer: Okay, I think under these circumstances, you’re allowed to open a present early. Trust me. It’s a good one.

Jeremy: So, what’s in there, jack? Hmm? Dueling pistols?

Jack: You claim diane had a quarter of a million of your dollars when you were arrested.

Jeremy: It’s not a claim. It’s a fact.

Jack: Then you will appreciate there is $500,000 here — double what you lost. More interest than you could have earned, either illegally or otherwise.

Jeremy: Is that so? It seems to me after six years in my line of work, I would have done a lot more than double it.

Jack: This is a one-time offer. Take it or leave it. And if you take it, you pack your bags, you get on that plane and you don’t look back.

Music (“I swear”) plays

Allie: Okay, I love all these fun holiday-drink names. Mistletoe mojito, north pole piña colada. Ooh, naughty or nice on ice.

Noah: Yeah, it was something my dad did back at the underground — fun, little tradition. He had a lot of those, actually. At one time, he had a plaque dedicating a booth to a woman he was seeing at the time. Hey, maybe I should do that for you.

Allie: You know what? I don’t need a booth.

Noah: Well, that’s good, because we don’t have any, but a plaque — yeah, a plaque.

Allie: Noah, I don’t need a plaque, either.

Noah: Why not?

Allie: I don’t know. Maybe I don’t want to attract all that attention to myself.

Noah: Alright, fair enough. But what do you need? I’m hoping my christmas gift is right on the mark.

Allie: I’m sure it is.

Noah: Alright, well, just, you know, let me know. There’s plenty of time to hit the stores again, so…

Allie: Noah, stop. Okay? Whatever it is, I’m sure it’s perfect. I get the feeling that you are trying to prove something to me.

Noah: Oh, yeah, what’s that?

Allie: That even though audra wants you back, you only have eyes for me.

Noah: Yeah, I didn’t think that’s what I was doing. But yeah, maybe you’re right.

Allie: You know it’s not necessary, right? Because I know that you only want to be with me.

Audra: So, are you wondering how long I’ll be here? Or are you asking for someone else, like noah?

Sharon: I was just wondering. Noah would never put me up to asking a question for him.

Audra: Yeah, you’re right. He’s very straightforward.

Sharon: Exactly. You still haven’t given me an answer.

Audra: I mean, to be honest, I don’t know. I…I don’t have solid plans. My work at chancellor-winters isn’t done yet. But you don’t really care about my job status. You’re just worried how my presence affects noah.

Sharon: Well, I have to be honest. When he came home from london, he just wasn’t himself. Seemed like all the joy and energy had been drained out of him.

Audra: Yeah. And the breakup was hard on both of us.

Sharon: I don’t doubt that. But noah wasn’t himself again until he met allie. She’s the one who got him out of that funk. She’s been very supportive of his career moves, and there’s a sweetness between them, and I don’t want to see that change.

Audra: Don’t worry. I received the message loud and clear. Noah wants nothing to do with me. There was a moment when I thought we could rekindle what we had, but noah doused that flame pretty quickly. And I’m not about to beg him for another chance. I wish noah and allie the best luck in the world. They don’t have to worry about any trouble from me.

Sharon: So, you are sticking around for a while?

Audra: I still have some things I want to accomplish at work. After that, I mean, I’m not sure. I like it here. And with so many titans of industry in genoa city, who knows what will come next for me?

Chance: Sharon… I did it.

Ashley: [ Choking ]

Tucker: What the hell are you drinking?

Ashley: It’s called a candy cane-tini.

Tucker: Ugh!

[ Both laugh ] How is it?

Ashley: Hmm? It’s very pretty to look at.

Tucker: Not really.

Ashley: I think I should have ordered a glass of wine.

Tucker: Well, you could probably ask for a refund from the manager, but he’s busy making out with your grand niece.

Ashley: [ Laughing ] Yeah! Well, they are a very cute couple, aren’t they?

Tucker: Oh, yeah. Of course, I’m going to take credit for that. I played a huge role in introducing allie to the abbotts and genoa city altogether.

Ashley: Mm-hmm.

Tucker: And she never would have met noah if it weren’t for me.

Ashley: Well, she definitely is lovely. And she’s a welcome addition to our family, although I do think that her introduction could have been handled much better, you know?

Tucker: Yes. You have a good point. I do regret her being a pawn in my attempt to get back here. And by here I mean in your presence.

Ashley: Wow, that shower really did some wonders, huh? Lookit — you’re having all sorts of deep thoughts…

Tucker: Oh, yeah.

Ashley: …Concerning allie, anyway.

Tucker: No, all I could think about was you.

Ashley: We’re going to do the hard sell again?

Tucker: No, no, no, no. No, I mean concern for you. You were obviously churned up about something when you came to my door. Is everything alright?

Ashley: Well, I got a lot on my mind. That’s for sure.

Tucker: Like what? Tell me. I can’t give you advice if I don’t know what’s going on.

Ashley: It’s not what. It’s who.

Tucker: Okay. Who?

Ashley: Jack.

Tucker: Ah.

Ashley: We got into it earlier, and it got very ugly.

Jack: Last time we spoke, you said you would consider taking the cash.

Jeremy: Did I?

Jack: I think you know you’re not going to get a better offer than this.

Jeremy: I don’t think this compensation is as valuable as you think it is. 500k divided by 72 months in prison — that works out to, what, $7,000 a month, $200 a day while I was locked up, unable to run my business. Now, my time is worth much more than that.

Jack: Fine. Name your price.

Ever notice how stiff clothes can feel rough on your skin?

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Kyle: Are you sure about this? It feels so wrong.

Summer: I checked with santa personally, and he said it’s okay.

Kyle: I can’t believe how adorable you are.

Summer: [ Laughs ]

Kyle: Okay. What? What is this?

Summer: It’s a make-your-own ornament kit. I thought you could make one with harrison, just like…

Kyle: Like dad did with dina when he was a kid.

Summer: Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. It’s not the exact same ornament, but it’s pretty close. I know it’s not your typical gift, but I —

Jack: No, it’s not. It’s so much better. Thank you.

Sharon: Chance, I have never seen you this excited. What did you do?

Chance: Well, I cracked a case that has plagued the gcpd for years. Rey actually told me about it. You know what I’m talking about?

Sharon: No. Which one?

Chance: Okay, so around this time every year, there is just a rash of thefts at the mall, right? Big-ticket items, thousands of dollars. Nobody knows what’s going on. So, I put it together. Who has access to the mall only during the holidays?

Sharon: I don’t know. Who?

Chance: Santa’s helpers.

Sharon: What?

Chance: Mm-hmm. So, I cross-reference employment and criminal records. Boom. Here this guy is. He’s been ripping off gc the whole time working as an elf. An elf! I mean, that is the perfect cover. Here’s the problem, though. He used a phony I.D. When he got hired. So, we couldn’t find his real name. So, I had to put an apb out on his elf name.

Sharon: Which is what?

Chance: Merry mcjingles.

Sharon: [ Laughing ] Okay, you’re making this up.

Chance: I swear to santa claus that I’m telling the truth. We just got the guy. We found him in the mall parking lot. And so, we approach him, right? He denies ever working as an elf, but he forgot to take off one of his ears. So, he said, “I didn’t do it. It wasn’t me.” And his little elf ear is flapping around in the wind. I tell you.

Sharon: Oh, my gosh, this sounds like one of those christmas-movie plots. You know what? You should pitch this to your mother.

Chance: I know. She’s going to love that story. I can’t wait to tell her.

Sharon: Hey, is nina going to be around for christmas?

Chance: No, no, she’s not, actually, this year. And I’m okay with that. I don’t really feel like talking to her about the whole divorce thing, you know?

Sharon: Well, how are you going to feel about that, not being around family at christmas? I mean, how is everything going?

Chance: I’m good. Yeah. You know, I wrapped all of dominic’s presents, got them under the tree. I’m not really sure how much time I’m going to get with him. He’s got a lot of families to go visit, but I want to make the most of it.

Sharon: So, what are you gonna do when he’s not around?

Chance: Put in some overtime, do some paperwork.

Sharon: Sounds like a plan.

Chance: You’re not about to take me to task, are you? Or preach the importance of family time during the holidays?

Sharon: No, you know what you’re doing. You know, sometimes work is the right answer.

Chance: Well, you know what? I’m very glad to hear you say that, because right now, work is my life preserver.

Noah: So, we’re all good? You don’t need to talk about the whole audra thing?

Allie: I would be okay with not talking about her at all. We have so many happy things on the horizon. This is going to be a big week for you. So, let’s focus on that.

Noah: It’s a big week for you, too — our first christmas with the abbotts.

Allie: Okay. Guess what? I got the official schedule for christmas day. There is a family breakfast with homemade cinnamon rolls. For whatever reason, that seems to be a big part of their tradition.

Noah: That family loves their pastries.

Allie: Oh, yeah, they do. And I am not complaining.

Noah: Alright, well, it sounds like you should go have breakfast at the abbotts’ while I’m doing volunteer work with my mom at crimson lights.

Allie: Okay. And then you want to meet up afterwards? And then we can go spend half the day with the abbotts and then go see the newmans for dinner?

Noah: Yeah, yeah, sounds good, but fair warning. Newman christmas does not end at cinnamon rolls. Expect a feast, okay, and caroling and ice skating and presents. And my grandma is going to get on the piano, and she wholeheartedly expects everyone to sing. So…

Allie: My god, these two families go all out for christmas.

Noah: And you ready for it?

Allie: I think this is going to be a gluttonous, exhausting, fantastic, and epic holiday. And I cannot wait. I think this is going to be the best christmas ever.

Chance: Wow, look at that.

Sharon: And it’s on the house. Thank you for protecting genoa city from dangerous elves.

Chance: Thank you, sharon. You know what? I can’t wait to see merry mcjingles’ mug shot. And I just pray they kept that ear on. It’ll be classic.

Sharon: Hey, you know, if you’re serious about working over the holidays, you’re welcome to come here tomorrow morning and volunteer. We’d love to have you.

Chance: Sure. Yeah.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Sharon: Excuse me. Oh, that’s faith. I have to take this.

Chance: Yeah, no worries.

Sharon: Hey, faith. How’s switzerland?

Chance: No.

Audra: A little sweet?

Chance: Um, yeah, it’s like a whole gingerbread house jammed in a cup.

[ Both chuckle ] You know, I was never a fan of these festive drinks. What’s wrong with a good, old, hot cup of coffee, right?

Audra: Maybe you’re just not in a festive mood. I overheard your story about arresting the elf.

Chance: Oh.

Audra: It seems kind of grinchy.

Chance: [ Laughs ] Well, you see, he was the grinch. I just saved the day.

Audra: Oh. Good. It’s not so often you get to meet heroes.

Chance: Yeah.

Audra: Thank you for your service. And I do want to see that mug shot.

Chance: Yeah. Yep.

Ashley: I mean, obviously jack and I have butted heads a lot regarding diane. But this time was different. I could not believe what was coming out of his mouth.

Tucker: Hmm. Well, knowing how you feel about diane, I’m sure you were in the right.

Ashley: He’s furious with me for her feeling so frightened that she had to leave town, you know?

Tucker: He’ll get past it.

Ashley: What he won’t get past is the part that he thinks I played in bringing jeremy stark here.

Tucker: So, diane really got her claws into him, huh?

Ashley: Mm.

Tucker: And he buys into her whole redemptive-angel routine.

Ashley: Oh, yeah, of course. I mean, he’s president of her fan club. Even when I present him with all the lies she’s told since she came back here, he doesn’t care. He looks right past all that evidence. And he just goes right back to blaming me for her having to leave town.

Tucker: So, why put up with any of that anymore? If he’s going to turn his back on you, do something about it.

Jeremy: Are you and diane involved? Because she’s lovely and hard to resist.

Jack: Years ago, I was a prime suspect in her alleged murder. Does that give you an answer?

Jeremy: No, not really. Whatever happened in the past, you’re here right now fighting for her with such valiant passion and quite generously, too.

Jack: Frankly, this has nothing to do with diane. I am sick and tired of her lies and manipulations. But we share a son and a grandson. That’s who I’m fighting for. So, do we have a deal or not?

Jeremy: I want a settlement so we can put all this behind us.

Jack: Good.

Jeremy: I want to negotiate.

Jack: Excellent.

Jeremy: With diane.

Jack: What?

Jeremy: I only want to deal with her. She’s the one who took my money, and now she needs to make it right.

Jack: Diane is gone.

Jeremy: Come on, jack. Are you trying to tell me that diane just vanished in the cold wisconsin night without a trace? You know where she is. And you’re going to take me to her. Then we’ll talk business.

Summer: For me? You shouldn’t have.

Kyle: Well, it’s just a little something. The good stuff comes tomorrow.

Summer: Oh, it’s beautiful. An “h” for harrison. I can put this on my bracelet.

Kyle: You’ll never guess who picked it out.

Summer: I’m going to have to thank him, too. I love it.

Kyle: Are you okay? What’s wrong?

Summer: Yeah. No, I’m fine. This is great. I love the charm. It’s just… I got a similar one for my mom when I was little, and… I just can’t believe that we’re going to be spending this christmas fighting with each other.

Kyle: It won’t be like that. You two will find a way to set aside your differences.

Summer: We both know my mom, kyle. I fired her right before christmas. She is never going to get over that. I just don’t know how we’re going to make things okay between us again.

Kyle: Hey, I will make them okay. I’m going to give you the best christmas… a loving, special day we’ll never forget. Hey! It’s me! Your dry skin!

Chance: I’m fighting crime all day, right? So, why would I go home and listen to a podcast about true crime?

Audra: Because they’re so juicy, okay? But I get it. I guess I wouldn’t want to come home and listen to a business-finance podcast.

Chance: Okay, now, that’s interesting. I’m into that.

Audra: Yeah.

Sharon: [ Clears throat ] Any refills here?

Chance: Uh, I think I’m alright. You?

Audra: Uh, I’m okay.

Chance: Thank you, sharon. Excuse me a second.

Audra: Yep.

Chance: Hey, is faith alright?

Sharon: Yeah. Yeah, she’s fine. It’s just hard having her away. She’s so away for the holidays.

Chance: Yeah. I’m sorry. That’s tough. Guess I should be more thankful that dominic and i are on the same continent, huh?

Sharon: Look, I know that it seems really hard right now, but eventually you and abby are going to figure out a way to co-parent together. And who knows? Maybe next christmas you’ll be together with your son.

Chance: Thank you, sharon. You know what? I can always count on you for support and good advice.

Sharon: [ Laughs ] I don’t know about that!

Chance: No, no. No, I mean it. Come in here, you get a coffee or whatever the hell that gingerbread drink is, and you take care of them. And it’s appreciated, really. And I know it’s got to be exhausting. I mean, don’t you ever want to just tell everyone to suck it up, deal with it?

Sharon: That wasn’t in any of the textbooks when I was getting my degree.

Chance: Well, you know what? You got a lot more patience than I do.

Sharon: You know, I think that I’m able to keep a positive attitude a lot of the time because I’m grateful for every day. Look, I know that there’s a lot of pain and loss in the world, but I think that we can take that pain and grow from it and learn to love even deeper.

Ashley: So, the tension between jack and me is just off the charts. And, frankly, that’s what diane creates. You know, she manipulates, and then it just causes chaos.

Tucker: I know. Alright, but let’s look at the situation. So, he’s made his loyalty obviously very clear, and it’s not to his family. So, why are you obligated to be loyal to him? It’s a little bit like how i told you to distance yourself from nikki and phyllis. Maybe you also need some distance from your brother.

Kyle: I don’t think you should worry about what happened to your mom right now. Embrace the holiday.

Summer: What does that mean? You want me to wear a santa suit?

Kyle: If you’re up for it, sure. But what I’m talking about is the fact we’re headed to a cabin in the woods. There may be snow along the way. We could have a wisconsin white christmas, the kind you’ve always missed in milan.

Summer: You thought it was the snow that I missed while we were abroad? It was my family. And I’m sad that we’re not going to be able to spend time with them this year. That being said, I want us to have as little stress as possible this holiday. So…

Kyle: Under the circumstances — fleeing town to avoid a dangerous ex-con who’s after my mother — I don’t know if it will be completely stress-free, but this could be the last hurdle for all of us. We can get stark out of town before the new year, and we can all have peace on earth.

Summer: Wouldn’t that be nice?

Jeremy: If you’re not going to take me to see diane, then I want you to get your briefcase out of here, because we’re done.

Jack: The whole point of the money is so that diane doesn’t have to see you again.

Jeremy: It isn’t just about the money. There’s a few more questions that I need to ask diane. And after the last few years that I’ve been through, I think I’m entitled to a few answers.

Jack: So, you want to meet with her one last time?

Jeremy: One last time. We have a conversation, and then I move on… with the money, of course.

Jack: Fine. You win. I have had it with this whole mess. She brought all of this to my doorstep. And I think it’s only right that she put an end to it.

Jeremy: I think that’s fair.

Jack: I think I know where I can find her.

Jeremy: Now we’re making progress.

Jack: Once I take you there, you have your little chat. Then you take your money, and it’s over! None of us ever have to see you again.

Young & The Restless Update

Update written by Barbara

At Jabot, Jack firmly urges Kyle and Summer that when they get the go-ahead word from him, they need to get Harrison up to the cabin and into his grandmother’s arms as soon as they can.  He has a plan for getting Jeremy out of Genoa City and if it goes smoothly, Jeremy will be out of their lives for good.

In Tucker’s suite, with Audra hiding in the bathroom after Ashley knocks on the door, he finds himself scrambling to figure out what to tell Ashley. Thinking fast on his feet, he lies and tells her that he had to take another shower because he had worked out at the hotel gym. He tries to distract her by telling her how wonderful the gym is.

After she turns down his offer to come in for a drink, he encourages her to go upstairs to the Glam Club and gives Audra the all-clear to come out of the bathroom.  She tells Tucker that he seems to be getting what he wants both personally and professionally. He lets her know that she will get the reward she deserves if she continues her association with him.

While they’re waiting to hear from Jack, Summer and Kyle decide to open up one of each other’s Christmas gifts.  Summer feels badly about her fight with her mother and how she had to fire her and Kyle is optimistic that she will be able to get through it.

At the Glam Club, things are strained between Noah and Allie, but after they talk about the situation with Audra and smooth things over, Allie tells him she realizes that he only has eyes for her. They kiss, discuss their families’ Christmas traditions and make plans to spend part of the day together.

Tucker joins Ashley at the club and becomes a sounding board for her to vent about how she and Jack cannot get along at all because of Diane.

Over at Crimson Lights, fresh on the heels of Sharon’s uncomfortable run-in with Tucker, Audra comes in and introduces herself to Sharon.  Sharon is quick to mention that she knows who Audra is from seeing her in the coffeehouse previously and is aware that she and Noah are no longer dating. Audra assures Sharon that she knows Noah has no lingering feelings for her and that she won’t cause any trouble for him and Allie.

Chance comes into Crimson Lights, all amped up about cracking a case regarding a man working at the mall as an elf who was responsible for thefts. Audra is sitting at a table sipping her holiday beverage with an amused look on her face as she listens to his conversation with Sharon about it.

Sharon gets a phone call from Faith in Switzerland and steps onto the patio to answer. Audra warms up to Chance, who joins her at the table, and they have a lighthearted conversation. After awhile, he excuses himself and goes over to Sharon to thank her for her support and good advice.

Jack shows up at Jeremy’s suite with a briefcase that has $500,000 in cash inside. He points out to Jeremy that his is twice the amount of money Diane had on her when Jeremy was arrested.

Jack and Jeremy have a heated exchange about the money, which results in Jack getting up in Jeremy’s face and telling him to name his price.  Jeremy deflects and asks if Jack is involved with Diane. Jack is insistent that the situation is all about his son and his grandson.

Jeremy hesitates on Jack’s money offer and tells him it’s more than just the cash.  He insists on meeting with Diane one more time and negotiating with her because he and Diane are on a questions-answers basis.  He tells Jack that after he gets answers from Diane, he will move on, looks over at the briefcase, and adds “with the money, of course.”

After some back and forth talk, Jack tells Jeremy that he thinks he might know where he can find Diane, but he remains firm and unflinching about Jeremy moving on after meeting with her. He tells him that after he has one last chat with Diane, he must take the money and it’s over, “none of us will ever have to see you again.”

Recap written by Eva

Nate gets back from his business trip to Los Angeles and has lunch with Audra and after a long talk about her goals, Nate offers her a job at Newman Media once she is done working on the Chancellor Winters IPO. Nate later tells Elena about his lunch with Audra and Elena tells him she doesn’t trust Audra.

Billy and Victoria have a very long talk about whether Johnny should accept a Christmas present that Chelsea bought for him. Victoria thinks that they should set boundaries for Chelsea, so she doesn’t have another crisis. Billy and Victoria decide to tell Johnny about the present so he can decide what he wants to do about it. Johnny tells Victoria that if it bothers her that he accepts the present then he won’t accept the present from Chelsea. Victoria tells Johnny that it doesn’t bother her that he wants to accept the present from Chelsea or that he wants to spend time with Connor. Victoria does look bothered when Johnny tells Billy he wants to buy a present for Chelsea and wonders what Chelsea might like as a present.

Ashley and Jack have another argument about Diane. Ashley is frustrated that Jack doesn’t see that Diane is manipulating him and Kyle and she worries that they will get hurt by Diane. Kyle and Summer want to go to the Abbott cabin with Harrison to spend Christmas with Diane, but they worry that Jeremy Stark will follow them and discover Diane’s location. Jack tells Kyle not to worry because he will distract Jeremy, so he doesn’t follow them.

Tucker and Audra have a meeting in his hotel room and Audra frustrated with Tucker because he keeps changing his plan. Tucker and Audra have sex again and when they are done Ashley knocks on the door. Tucker waits until Audra is hidden in the bathroom to open the door. Ashley looks past Tucker at the couch and tells Tucker “Looks like the couch had a good time.”

Transcript provided by Suzanne

Jack: Something troubling you?

Ashley: Why would you ask me that?

Jack: I’m very familiar with that look.

Ashley: Why are you talking to me? I thought after our last conversation, you washed your hands of me.

Jack: I won’t pretend that I’m not still furious at you for being part of that unholy trinity that drove diane out of town. I’m not sure what I walked in on here, but I’d like to think that what you’re feeling right now has something to do with regret.

Ashley: No. Not even a little bit.

Tucker: Sharon. Hey. I have been in here so many times since I moved back to town. How is it that I have not seen you?

Sharon: I guess I’ve just been lucky.

Tucker: [ Laughs ] I guess my coffee’s gonna come with a little spice today, is it?

Sharon: I’ve heard that you picked up right where you left off — crashing summer and kyle’s vow renewal, circling all of the genoa city businesses like a vulture.

Tucker: Whereas your ambitions seem to have grown considerably more modest since you and I were running newman together.

Sharon: Oh, you mean back when you manipulated me into being your puppet?

Tucker: Ah, don’t sell yourself short. You had a great mind for business. Seems a shame to waste it on finding the best deal for sugar packets.

Sharon: Well, it is very satisfying work, for your information, running a place that serves the community. I have created a space that everyone feels welcome in, including you.

Tucker: I know. I love it here. It was the perfect spot for me and ashley to warm up yesterday.

Sharon: Don’t tell me you’re gonna suck her back in again.

Elena: Nate!

[ Laughs ]

Nate: It is so good to see you.

Elena: Ah, you scared me. You’re back from L.A. When did you get here?

Nate: Uh, just got home a couple of minutes ago. I tried calling you.

Elena: Ugh, it was nonstop at memorial. Every emergency you can imagine. But it was actually a good thing because I didn’t have to think about how much I missed you. How was your trip?

Nate: It was amazing. I met so many great people. They were giving me the star treatment everywhere victoria and I went.

Elena: As they should. You are the brand-new ceo of newman media.

Nate: It was amazing, you know, walking into all those meetings, having the faith and trust of all these movers and shakers. Everyone — and I mean everyone — at newman’s los angeles office was so welcoming.

Elena: That must be so reassuring. You are in the right place doing the right thing.

Nate: It was incredible. So much to do and so little time.

Elena: Ah. I wish I could have been there to see it.

Nate: Next time. I couldn’t wait to get back and tell you all about it.

Elena: Oh! What happened with the meeting with the k-pop star?

Nate: Victoria likes him, but whether we can make a collaboration happen remains to be seen.

Elena: Well, if anyone can do it, it is my brilliant boyfriend.

Nate: [ Chuckles ] This all feels so natural, like I finally found where I’m supposed to be, where my ideas are heard and respected. I’m gonna pretend like I didn’t see that yawn.

Elena: I’m sorry, but I am glad that you’re back.

Nate: You’d better be.

Elena: I was recording episodes for the podcast to complete my obligations with chancellor-winters earlier, and then I spent all night covering for dr. Faulkner. And as much as I want to hear more, can it wait?

Nate: Of course. I remember how exhausting those shifts at the hospital can be.

Elena: Thank you for understanding. And you can tell me all about the rest of your trip as soon as I wake up.

Nate: Sweet dreams.

Elena: Love you.

Nate: Love you, too.

Elena: Ah.

Nate: [ Breathes deeply ]

Summer: Hey. There you are. Can I talk to you for a second?

Kyle: Um, do you mi–

Summer: Oh. Is there something more important than conferring with your creative director?

Kyle: Of course not. I’m just focused on tying up loose ends so I can send everyone home early for the holidays.

Summer: Oh, so you’re gonna be the boss with the heart of gold?

Kyle: This is how I’m building employee loyalty.

Summer: [ Chuckles ] Well, I agree with your strategy, but this is something that we need to discuss right away.

[ Knock on door ]

Victoria: Come in.

Billy: I knew I would find you here. You always work double time over the holidays to give your undivided attention to the kids.

Victoria: Yeah. Well, the work of a ceo/mom is never done. That being said, it’s obvious that you are interrupting me right now. So, is everything okay?

Billy: Everything is fine, yes, but I want to give you a heads-up. Chelsea bought johnny a christmas gift.

Victoria: Oh, did she?

Billy: She did, and I’d like you to hear me out before you make a decision.

Victoria: No. I already have. It’s out of the question. These little cups would make

provided by…

Billy: So, you’re not even willing to consider this?

Victoria: Look, I’m sure that chelsea’s intentions are good, and I support her efforts to heal herself, but requesting to spend christmas with our son — I’m sorry. It’s just — it’s going too far, billy.

Billy: She’s not trying to finagle an invitation.

Victoria: Okay, well, then what does she want from us?

Billy: She wants to give me a gift, and then you and I can decide on when we give it to johnny.

Victoria: Well, bravo for her for going through the proper channels, but I still don’t think it’s a good idea. You remember what happened the last time she tried to give him something. You didn’t accept the baby blanket in the way that she wanted, and I believe that that started her spiral.

Billy: Well, it wasn’t, okay? It wasn’t one thing.

Victoria: Well, I don’t doubt that it was a contributing factor, and I worry that — that her desire to give him something else is a sign that she’s regressing.

Billy: I think you’re — you’re blowing this out of proportion a little bit, okay? Our son is showing interest in spending more time with chelsea, and it would be wrong for us to get in the way of that.

Victoria: Well, we are his parents. It’s our job to set boundaries and limits.

Billy: Yeah. You’re right. You have a point there. Maybe you and I shouldn’t be the ones to give johnny the gift.

Victoria: Thank you, billy. I appreciate you listening to reason.

Billy: Chelsea should be the one to give it to him.

Nate: [ Clears throat ]

Audra: Mm. If isn’t newman’s most recent executive hire.

Nate: Audra charles. It’s been a long time.

Audra: Too long. I have fond memories of our dinners when I first got to town.

Nate: So much has changed since then.

Audra: I’m dying to hear the details.

Nate: Let’s just say it’s a whole new world over there.

Audra: I have a tremendous idea. We can pick up where we left off, and you can fill me in on everything you’ve been up to.

Nate: [ Chuckles ]

Tucker: Ah, thank you. Yeah, uh, ashley and I have been getting reacquainted.

[ Sniffs ] At first, she was as wary of me as you are, but I think I’m winning her over.

Sharon: And how on earth have you managed to do that?

Tucker: Uh, it hasn’t been easy. I’ve convinced her that I’m a changed man.

Sharon: Oh. Are you?

Tucker: [ Chuckling ] Yeah.

Tucker: Not really.

[ Laughs ] But I’m showing her that she’s my priority now, and I’m gonna make her dreams come true.

Sharon: Based on everything you’ve said, sounds more like you’re hoping that she will help you make your dreams come true.

Jack: Then you are wholly unrepentant about driving diane out of town.

Ashley: You are the one that should be repentant because of your actions. It was harmful and irresponsible to let diane back into our lives.

Jack: Oh, ash.

Ashley: When are you gonna get it through your head, jack? She’s playing you.

Jack: She is not. She was in real danger. She had to leave.

Ashley: Did she really?

Jack: I don’t get why it’s so hard for you to understand she would be legitimately afraid of a convicted felon who came to town looking for her.

Ashley: Would you just stop, please? I’m not naive. Quite the coincidence, isn’t it, that kyle left town on business the same day his mother leaves for parts unknown?

Jack: Don’t assume the two are connected.

Ashley: All diane kept saying since she came back to genoa city is how she regretted not having more time with kyle. So, why would she leave without saying goodbye? Didn’t make sense to me… until I started thinking, “well, maybe there wasn’t a long, emotional goodbye because she didn’t really leave.” Is that what you’re doing, jack? You’re riding to diane’s rescue, ready to save the day again? Hi, I’m karen.

Jack: Before you start accusing me of having a savior complex, how about you take a deep breath and consider the possibility that diane was so frightened of jeremy stark that she left town? Not out of just fear for herself.

Ashley: Right.

Jack: She didn’t want to put kyle and his family in danger.

Ashley: Okay. You just keep making excuses for her because she’s got you wrapped around her little finger, right?

Jack: Instead of worrying about me, how about taking responsibility for going too far? You did the wrong thing. Admit you were wrong and apologize.

Ashley: Except I’m not wrong. Diane has created this sweet little cocoon for her three favorite boys — you and kyle and harrison — where she is loved and supported and protected. She’s not gonna walk away from that, jack.

Jack: I wish you could hear yourself.

Ashley: She’s gonna keep that going for as long as she can. What’s very sad to me is that you and kyle are getting as much out of this as she is. Now, kyle I understand. He just wants a mother. But you? You’re getting her adoration, which I find particularly disgusting. So, I have a hypothesis here.

Jack: And I’m sure I’m going to hear what it is.

Ashley: Yes. Um, I think that you and kyle have created this little disappearing act for diane so you can continue to keep rewarding her duplicitous behavior in secret.

Summer: I want you to listen to this suggestion with an open mind.

Kyle: Okay.

Summer: I know how important it is to you to spend christmas with diane.

Kyle: It is something I’ve dreamed about. I’m a little embarrassed to admit it, but the little boy in me does want to relive waking up on christmas morning and seeing my mother stand there.

Summer: That is nothing to be ashamed of. Look, I understand why, after all of these years apart, you would want to spend the holidays with your mom. But do you know what my christmas dream is?

Kyle: I would like for you to tell me about it so I can try to make it come true.

Summer: You, me…

Kyle: Mm-hmm.

Summer: …And harrison all sharing christmas together. Our son deserves to be with both of his parents.

Audra: So, how is newman media treating you?

Nate: Like a rock star. It’s like night and day compared to how things were at chancellor-winters.

Audra: Mm. That sounds fantastic.

Nate: As a matter of fact, victoria and I just got back from L.A.

Audra: Huh. You went on a business trip already? How was it?

Nate: Inspiring. Exciting. I met so many people who wanted to support my vision.

Audra: Wow. That must have been electrifying.

Nate: You have no idea. It’s just an affirmation that i made the right choice.

Audra: Well, congratulations, nate.

Nate: I try not to think about what things would have been like if I had gotten the same respect at chancellor-winters.

Audra: It’s their loss.

Nate: You’re the only one there who isn’t holding a grudge.

Audra: Well, I mean, I’m a contract employee. Your actions didn’t really impact me. And I — I think that I believe the ipo will still move forward. And as you know, I’ve been in the corporate world for a while now to know that things can get cut-throat. I mean, people in the executive suite are supposed to shake things up.

Nate: Exactly.

Audra: I didn’t find what you did particularly, uh, shocking or infuriating. And it wasn’t personal. But I think everything went wrong because you mixed business and family. And in my experience, that often leads to problems.

Nate: I had to learn the hard way.

Victoria: I’m sorry. You’re gonna have to walk me through this because I don’t understand how it’s a good idea for chelsea, who is still recovering from her terrible ordeal, to be spending alone time with our son.

Billy: So, that’s your problem, then? You don’t want johnny and chelsea spending time together, alone, one on one? So, we invite connor. They get along great.

Victoria: Great. So, the three of them can play pretend happy family.

Billy: Vick, there’s nothing pretend about it, okay? Before johnny found out the truth about chelsea, him and connor were cousins. They always have been. Chelsea’s always been his de facto aunt. Biologically, they are family.

Victoria: Yes, but legally and emotionally, so are we. I mean, I’m his mother. Johnny’s my son. I’m responsible for him. I get to make the decisions.

Billy: So, we’re drawing lines in the sand now?

Victoria: Yes! Yes, billy. That is exactly what we’re doing. We have to set some boundaries here before things get out of hand. There’s just — there’s too much at stake.

Tide pods ultra oxi

Billy: So, what do you think is at stake? ‘Cause I don’t believe we’re gonna lose johnny because his family gets extended, right? You didn’t — you didn’t lose reed when mac became his stepmother.

Victoria: Okay. This is not remotely the same thing.

Billy: I just don’t think there’s too many people that a kid could love or that love him, you know?

Victoria: Billy —

Billy: No one benefits then.

Victoria: I realize that. But what you’re ignoring is johnny’s freedom to be a kid without worrying about these adult-level problems. That’s what I’m concerned about.

Billy: Okay. So, if you’re worried about chelsea, I understand that, but I vouch for her, okay? She’s doing really great. She’s taking this one step at a time. She’s not overextending. And I think she’s ready for this.

Victoria: I’m more worried about whether or not our son is ready for this. He’s already blamed himself to some degree for the issues that she had after he rejected her. And what if he’s doing all of this just for her sake? No. That would be unacceptable.

Billy: Then let’s ask johnny. We said all along that this was gonna be his call. And in the beginning, he chose not to have anything to do with chelsea, and we respected that. So I think we should respect that if he decides to spend more time with her, that it’s his choice.

Tucker: Yeah, reuniting with ashley is my dream. Of course, I want to make it mutual. I just want to make her happier than she’s ever been in her whole life.

Sharon: And you think you’re charming enough to do that?

Tucker: I have more to offer than my charm.

Sharon: Ooh! I hope that wasn’t some sexual innuendo.

Tucker: You just have to see the worst in me, don’t you? I will have you know that I want to connect with ashley on a higher level than that.

Sharon: So, what? Are you saying that you want to marry ashley again?

Tucker: Mm… there are other ways to forge a lasting bond with someone, isn’t there?

Sharon: Has she given you any reason to believe that’s what she wants?

Tucker: Well, I’m an optimist.

Sharon: Oh, in other words, no!

Tucker: Well, I’m working hard to prove that I’m worthy of her trust, and I think eventually she’ll — she’ll let her guard down and, uh, yeah, we’ll make something special together.

Sharon: Mm. Well, I guess time will tell.

Tucker: I’m gonna prove you and all the other doubters wrong. Ahh. So nice to see you. Take care.

Audra: Thank you.

Nate: That was the most detailed order for a salad that I have ever heard.

Audra: Eh, it was a little extra, right?

[ Both laugh ]

Nate: You know what you like. That’s a good thing.

Audra: Yeah. I hate being disappointed. And when I am, it can be a bad thing.

Nate: Really?

Audra: Yeah.

Nate: I have not seen that side of you. Then again, there’s a lot i don’t know about you. So, tell me — who is audra charles?

Audra: Hmm. Where do I begin?

Nate: What do you want out of life?

Audra: More.

Nate: Of what?

Audra: Everything. Adventure, excitement, knowledge.

Nate: You came to genoa city as the ipo guru for chancellor-winters, poised to launch the company into the stratosphere. But what are you getting out of this besides a paycheck? What are your goals?

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Audra: Hmm.

[ Sighs ]

[ Cellphone thuds ] I’m not entirely sure.

Nate: What happens when chancellor-winters decides what to do with the ipo? Do you stay in genoa city, or do you go?

Audra: That’s a good question.

[ Chuckles ]

Nate: What people say when they don’t want to give a direct answer.

Audra: Alright. Okay. Initially, I — I planned on leaving once my position ended, but this town is growing on me.

Nate: I hope you stay. We need more players who understand the game. And if you ever find yourself in need of a new job, you should come talk to me.

Audra: You’d hire me at newman media?

Nate: Why not? I believe in surrounding myself with smart, savvy people.

Jack: So, you think that kyle and I have diane in hiding somewhere?

Ashley: Yep, I do. I do ’cause I know you would do anything to protect her.

Jack: You know what? You believe whatever you have to believe to sleep at night. It doesn’t change the fact that you and nikki and phyllis set all of this in motion. You were told what would happen, who would be affected, and you did it anyway. And now your nephew and your grand nephew are spending christmas without diane.

Ashley: Aw, gee, that’s the only kind of christmas harrison’s ever known. And kyle hasn’t spent the holidays with his mother in years, right? So, do I feel for them? Of course I do, jack. But they’re still gonna be with people that actually love them, that have been there for them —

Jack: We’re talking about kyle’s mother.

Ashley: Why is she a mother?! Because she gave birth to him? That doesn’t make her a good mother, does it? You know what I find so pathetic about this? The only reason why this christmas is special is because she actually wants to spend it with her son.

Jack: Yeah, but because you and your co-conspirators lured an ex-convict into town —

Ashley: Listen, if she gave a damn about kyle, she would have been there for him every christmas, every birthday, but she wasn’T. If she had a heart, she would have moved heaven and earth to tuck her son in at night, to give him a goodnight kiss! But she didn’t! She chose not to return, jack, year after year! And I have done whatever I could to protect you and kyle from her! Too bad you don’t like my methods. But it doesn’t mean I’m wrong.

Jack: No, I don’t like your methods.

Ashley: I’m still right. And I don’t know what diane being back in town has done to your brain, but it’s wrecked. Your judgment is just completely off.

Jack: Your complete lack of compassion for everyone involved…

Ashley: Oh, please.

Jack: …Is appalling to me. You have allowed your hatred for diane to make you small and spiteful. And I have heard enough of this.

Ashley: Unbelievable.

[ Scoffs ]

[ Door slams ]

[ Sighs heavily ]

Kyle: Hey, you know how much I want to spend christmas with you and harrison.

Summer: Well, we need this. Harrison has endured so many changes this year. Coming back to genoa city, changing languages…

Kyle: Losing ashland… mm, then let’s make it happen.

Summer: Really?!

Kyle: What if we three spend christmas at home? Then we can wake up early. Hurricane harrison can rip open all of his presents. Then I go to the cabin and spend the rest of the day with my mom.

Summer: Okay, you had me right up until the last part.

Kyle: What’s wrong? You don’t want me to leave to go see my mother somewhere? She’s just been alone for so many holidays.

Summer: I’m not saying that i don’t want you to go. I’m saying that harrison and i are coming with you. This cough.

[Sfx: Coughs]

“The young and the restless”

will continue. Welcome to my digestive system.

Tucker: Fascinating. Right on time.

Audra: You know, you said to get here as soon as possible. I did.

Tucker: Something more entertaining happening?

Audra: Oh, nothing is more entertaining than you, tucker.

Tucker: I know you. You’re distracted.

Audra: No.

Tucker: Would you like to share?

Audra: What did you need to talk about?

Tucker: Uh, the plan is evolving. I spontaneously offered to help ashley break away from jabot and start her own company.

Audra: Oh. Did she accept?

Tucker: Not yet.

Audra: Mm. Do you really believe she’s gonna turn her back on her family?

Tucker: I saw a little glimmer in her eye that said she was tempted to. So, yeah, I think in time, she’ll come around.

Audra: [ Chuckles ] I am beyond thrilled that you called me all the way over here to tell me that the woman you’re obsessed with didn’t exactly turn you down.

Tucker: It’s progress.

Audra: Except for taking a single step in making any of your plans a reality. But, sure.

Billy: Thanks, hannah. We’ll see you in a few. You good?

Johnny: Yeah. Whew. Hannah wouldn’t really tell me why she was driving me here, but, hey, I will never say no to a hot cocoa.

Billy: I don’t blame you, but first things first. Your mom and I have a question for you.

Johnny: Okay, if this family meeting has anything to do with the length of my christmas wish list, I can explain. I don’t expect you to get me everything that’s on there. I really just wanted to give you options.

Billy: Well, that’s very considerate of you, but, uh, we — we just want to talk about one gift in particular.

Johnny: The playstation? I realize it’s a big ask.

Billy: Actually, it’s not

what it is. It’s who it’s from.

Victoria: Uh, chelsea has a present that she’s hoping to give you, and we’re wondering if you want it.

Kyle: What do we do about telling harrison where we’re going? How do we pack up his entire christmas and take it to the cabin?

Summer: We could leave during his nap time. He can sleep most of the way there. We can tell him that it’s a christmas eve adventure.

Kyle: What about when we get back? How do we keep him from telling everyone he woke up on christmas morning and saw dee dee?

Summer: We’ll tell him that she’s one of santa’s elves and that’s why she had to leave before christmas. I don’T…

Kyle: I suppose we could tell him we’re driving to the north pole. He’s a little too young to understand distance. But I don’t like the idea of telling him to keep a secret.

Summer: I know. I know. But in this case, it’s — it’s the only way. We just need to figure out the right way to frame it.

Kyle: You aren’t gonna let this go, are you?

Summer: No. Because it’s important. So I’m gonna keep arguing my case until you say yes.

Kyle: [ Inhales deeply ] Yes. I would love to have you and harrison come with me. But there is one more obstacle in our way. We have to make sure stark is distracted. We cannot risk him following us. If you think all pads are exactly the same…

Summer: Do you really think that stark is watching us, following our every move, thinking that we’ll eventually lead him to diane?

Kyle: It’s pretty clear that whatever payback he wants from her is about more than just money, and I don’t have a handle on how far he’s willing to go to settle the score.

Summer: Well, if he is spying on us, he could just as easily follow you if you go to see her alone. All stark has to do is follow you there, wait for you to leave, and then go after diane when she’s alone again.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] You’re right. As much as I want to spend christmas with my mother, it’s a liability none of us can afford.

Johnny: Chelsea wants to get me a present? She doesn’t have to do that.

Billy: No, but it’s the holidays, and people do all sorts of zany things.

Johnny: Yeah, but that means that she was thinking about me enough to want to get me something, even with all the stuff she’s been through.

Billy: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, look, we can accept it for you, or you can accept it yourself if you want. Whatever — whatever you’re comfortable with.

Victoria: Of course, we haven’t agreed to anything yet. We wanted to make sure that you were okay with it first. But if you don’t want this gift or if you don’t want to spend time with her, if you’re not ready yet, that’s fine.

Billy: Or maybe you can check with connor and see if he wants to hang out with the both of you.

Victoria: Yeah, there’s no pressure.

Johnny: Connor’s cool. We have a good time together. So, sure. Sounds like fun.

Nate: [ Chuckles ] This is a wonderful surprise.

Elena: Well, I thought i should give you a proper welcome home. So, welcome home, ceo.

Nate: Back at our place —

Elena: I was the walking dead. But what a difference a shower and a triple shot of espresso can make. So now I have energy to celebrate your successful trip to L.A.

Nate: That was a quick recovery. I saw how exhausted you were.

Elena: How about this? You can keep telling me what a marvel I am while I treat you to a “welcome home” lunch.

Nate: [ Chuckles ] I’d love to, but I’ve already eaten.

Elena: Did you?

Nate: I was gonna grab some takeout from society, and i bumped into audra, who was alone, and we just ended up grabbing lunch together.

Elena: [ Scoffs ]

Tucker: Don’t stop. Speak your mind.

Audra: You don’t know what you want, okay? One minute, it’s jabot, the next, maybe not. You know, then you say you want chancellor-winters. Or maybe you just want devon to betray lily so you can work with your son. Do you have an end game, or are you just jerking everyone around for fun?

Tucker: Weren’t you the one that was accusing me of biting off more than I could chew?

Audra: All I want to know is where I fit in your plans.

Tucker: You —

Audra: When you asked me to work with you, you promised me that you were gonna —

Tucker: I know what i promised you, audra.

Audra: And now you’re stalling.

Tucker: No, I’m not stalling.

Audra: Yes, now you’re stalling.

Tucker: No.

Audra: You know, perhaps you lost your confidence and your ability to get any of this done.

Tucker: No, I’m applying what I’ve learned in life. You’ve got to be flexible and adaptable and, above all else —

Audra: Look, I am not gonna play the long game without knowing more about what the payoff is. Perhaps it’s time for me to make my own plans.

Tucker: Okay. Yeah, sure. I’M… no one’s holding you back. I, uh… I wouldn’t want to stand between you and your destiny.

Audra: You are s– such an insufferable son of a bitch.

Tucker: I know. I’m sorry. Tyson boneless buffalo bites and hot wings

Jack: Hey. Why the long faces? Have you heard from stark?

Kyle: Not a word.

Jack: Then why do you both look like christmas was canceled?

Summer: ‘Cause it was, basically. At least, my version of it was.

Kyle: Summer wanted to bring harrison to the cabin to spend christmas with me and my mom.

Summer: But no matter how many times we go through the potential scenarios or possible hiccups, we just can’t find a way to make it work.

Kyle: Any trip to the cabin, including mine, puts my mother at risk, and I don’t want to put her in danger just so I can live a childhood fantasy of spending christmas with my mother.

Jack: After all the work to rebuild, to reunite this family, you deserve to spend this time with your mother, your wife, and your son.

Kyle: I can’t risk it. It’s not worth it.

Jack: Yeah, the hell it isn’T.

Summer: We still haven’t found a way to neutralize stark. He’s a danger to us all.

Jack: You leave him to me.

Victoria: You don’t have to do anything that you don’t want to do. If you’re agreeing to see chelsea out of guilt or because you’re feeling pressured, then you —

Billy: What your mom’s trying to say that this is one of those rare occasions that you don’t have to be polite. You can be completely honest with us. Do whatever you’re comfortable with.

Victoria: Yes. And you’ll have plenty of time to get to know her down the road, okay?

Johnny: I don’t have to see her if you don’t want me to.

Victoria: What are you talking about?

Johnny: It must be kind of weird for you. If seeing chelsea is gonna upset you, then I won’t do it.

Victoria: You know, it’s very sweet and mature of you to worry about me, but I’m — I’m absolutely fine with you hanging out with connor and chelsea.

Johnny: Sweet. So, when’s this gonna happen?

Billy: No time like the present for a present.

Victoria: Sure.

Billy: Let me check and see if she’s upstairs. “Hey. Victoria, johnny, and I are downstairs. If you and connor around, do you want to come down?” There we go. We’ll see.

Johnny: Okay. Wait. But wait.

Billy: Hmm?

Johnny: We don’t have connor’s present, and I have to get something for chelsea.

Victoria: Well, you don’t have to do that.

Johnny: Wouldn’t it be kind of rude for me to not get her something when she’s getting me?

[ Cellphone pings ] Was that chelsea?

Billy: Yeah. She’s not available. She has an appointment.

Johnny: So, maybe later today?

Billy: That could work, right? We could go get connor’s gift, and then we can try and find something for chelsea.

Johnny: What do you think she’d like?

Billy: [ Chuckles ] I don’t know, buddy. I think she would love anything that you get her.

Johnny: But does she like jewelry, perfume? What are her hobbies?

Billy: All very valid questions, and together, the two of us will figure that out.

Elena: Chancellor’s ipo expert had lunch with a disgraced former executive. Doesn’t that blur the lines a bit?

Nate: Audra knows what I did wasn’t personal. And it’s not as if we were trading company secrets with each other.

Elena: Just saying, it’s strange.

Nate: We respect each other professionally, and we shared a meal, nothing more.

Elena: I’m not questioning your intentions. There’s just something about her that doesn’t sit right with me.

Nate: You barely know her.

Elena: Yeah, and the little time I’ve spent with her, it’s like she’s always working an angle, like there’s some sort of opportunity to be gained from working at chancellor-winters.

Nate: I’m sure she’ll get a bonus if the ipo goes through. What else could there be?

Elena: I don’t know. Can’t put my finger on it. But I don’t trust her.

[ Knock on door ]

Audra: [ Whispering ] You expecting someone?

Ashley: Tucker, are you there?

Tucker: Ashley?

Ashley: Open up.

Tucker: [ Whispering ] Hey, hey, hey. Would you mind?

Audra: You can’t be serious.

Tucker: Well, this looks questionable for you, too.

[ Normal voice ] Um… hold on a second. I just got to get decent.

Ashley: Well, that’s gonna take a while.

Tucker: [ Chuckles loudly ] That’s — that’s so funny. You have such A… refreshing sense of humor.

Audra: [ Exhales sharply ]

Tucker: [ Groans lightly ] Hey.

Ashley: Looks like I caught ya at a bad time.

Young & The Restless Update

Update written by Barbara

At Crimson Lights, Sharon has a festive holiday time with Mariah and Tessa. Noah comes by after working at the club, where he had served his father and Sally a special drink on their evening out together. Faith won’t be coming home for the holidays because she was invited to join her roommate and her roommate’s family in Switzerland. Although Sharon is sad, she knows that Faith will have a wonderful time there. Tessa declares that she and Mariah are meeting a pregnant woman after New Year’s about a possible adoption. Mariah moves aside with a seemingly upset expression on her face. When Tessa starts to apologize to Mariah for mentioning it, Mariah explains that she isn’t mad – she’s just worried about getting everybody’s hopes up after what happened the last time.

Chloe goes over to Chelsea’s apartment with Esther’s famous Kringle.  Chloe assures Chelsea that she has not come over to check up on her; she just wants to spend time with her bestie. The two women sit on Chelsea’s couch under throws, sipping tea, chatting and laughing. Chelsea tells Chloe that it’s nice to just talk normally instead of talking about things like therapy. Nonetheless, Chelsea says that she wants to make amends with Chloe.  She says that she’s sorry for blaming her when she saw warning signs and pointed them out to her. Chloe accepts Chelsea’s apology. Chelsea mentions that she needs a complete personal and professional make over and that she plans to get it right this time.

Adam shows up at the Newman ranch with a couple of favors to ask his father. Victor is quick to agree with Adam bringing Connor to the ranch for the family’s holiday celebration, but he is against the second favor Adam asks: bringing Chelsea to the ranch for the festivities. Victor tells him that he does not want Chelsea there. He points out that Chelsea threw a wrench into Victoria’s life by insisting on telling Johnny that she’s his biological mother. However, Adam says that Connor should be with both his parents and mentions that Chelsea had no idea how Johnny would react to finding out that she’s his bio mom. He also lets Victor know that as far as Johnny is concerned, he and Connor have been growing closer since they learned they were brothers.  Adam also jogs Victor’s memory about how he forced Chelsea to fake a breakdown and get institutionalized. Victor replies that it benefited Chelsea since he helped her avoid criminal prosecution. After talking back and forth, Victor finally agrees to let Chelsea visit. Adam expresses his appreciation;  Victor agrees firmly that he should appreciate this.

Later on, Victor tells Nikki about what transpired. Nikki says that Victoria mentioned that Chelsea had been in a bad place, so she’s in favor of Adam spending time at the ranch for the holidays. She says that she knows that Victor wants to bring him “back into the family fold”. Victor says that since Adam was the one who left, he would have to make the first move if he wants back in. Nikki points out that by choosing to be with the family on Christmas, Adam may be taking the first step.

Over at the Glam Club, Sally invites Nick to come to her suite for a nightcap, and he takes her up on her invitation.  In her suite, they talk about Christmas plans, and Sally tells him that she doesn’t want him to feel obligated to include her in the Newman Christmas celebration.  Nick mentions that his family has trust issues regarding Sally and lets her know that Victor had a dossier on her compiled of her time in LA. He also mentions that he did not read it, although she says that she wishes that he had because then she would know if anything from her past is a “dealbreaker”. Nick assures her that he doesn’t want to know about her misdeeds from the past, just some good things.  They sit down on the sofa, and she mentions a few, such as her first pet being a little beagle and how she excelled in acrobatics. Afterward, as they lie in bed, grinning, Nick tells her that he’d be fine with changing his holiday plans for her. Then he tells her that he’ll spend some time with his family and then do something special with her later. Sally thinks that sounds perfect.

Chloe and Chelsea go downstairs to Crimson Lights to join in with the festivities. Chelsea gets a call from Adam, who tells her that Connor begged to spend the night at the ranch and help decorate the barn.  She lets him know that she was looking forward to spending time with Connor, but she’ll be fine alone.  Chelsea turns down Sharon’s offer to include her in putting up holiday decorations at Crimson Lights, saying that she wants to go out and get a little air. Sharon and Chloe exchange worried glances.

Outside, Chelsea is enjoying listening to Christmas carolers when Adam comes by. He lets her know that he spotted her leaving the coffeehouse and wants to join her. When Adam mentions Christmas at the ranch, Chelsea assures him that she still wants to go.  When she mentions how Billy has been spending a lot of time helping her, Adam says all that matters is her recovery – if Billy Abbott can help facilitate that, then he has no problems with it. When she asks how he’s doing in light of his break up with Sally, he tells her that he has moments of self-pity and loneliness but wants to concentrate on what he’s got – a wonderful son with a caring mother.Chelsea takes his   arm and smiles while they listen to the carolers together.

Over at the ranch, Nikki and Victor have a slow, romantic dance.

[ Laughter ]

Sharon: Give that to me.

[ Knock on door ]

Chloe: Surprise! It’s your best friend bearing carbs and companionship.

Chelsea: Well, this is a surprise. I’m so spoiled. First billy, then adam, and now here you are.

Chloe: Clearly saving the best for last. And look what I brought — esther’s famous kringle.

Chelsea: Huh. Well, I thought I was full, but esther’s famous kringle? Come on.

Chloe: Well, I’m not allowed to go home unless I get photographic evidence of you trying some, along with a full, detailed critique.

I love my daughter’s little angelical voice, but if I hear that song one more time, I swear I’m going… so, you would actually be doing

me a favor in giving me a quiet sanctuary.

Chelsea: Well, then, by all means, come in.

Chloe: [ Sighs ]

Chelsea: To be honest with you, I’m taking a holiday from the holiday music, as well. So let’s just sit back, relax, and enjoy esther’s delicious pastry.

Noah: Big holiday party coming in tonight. If that space can just be cleared before then, that’d be great. Hey, dad. What brings you in tonight?

Nick: I figured this place would be fire right about now, with all the holiday cheer in the air.

Noah: Okay, I’m really sorry about this, but I’m actually gonna have to give you a warning. We have a strict, strict no-slang policy for people in your age group.

Nick: Well, that just hurts, son.

Noah: [ Chuckles ] You look, uh, awful spiffy for someone flying solo…tonight.

Nick: Look at you. You look great.

Sally: Thank you.

[ Object thuds ]

Adam: Father.

Victor: Hey, son. I’m surprised to see you.

Adam: Yes, I, um — I’m just here to pick up connor from decorating the tree, but i may be a little early.

Victor: Well, as you can see, the tree has already been trimmed. I think connor is right now in the kitchen baking some goods with nikki.

Adam: Okay.

Victor: Last time we talked, you wanted nothing to do any more with your family. What changed?

Mariah: Good.

Tessa: Mariah, why are you putting that one on top? I mean, it doesn’t even sparkle or anything.

MarMariah: Well, a tree topper doesn’t have to light up. It just needs to be pretty.

Tessa: But it’s supposed to be the icing on the cake. It’s supposed to be the pice de résistance.

Mariah: Okay, I can’t wait for noah to get here because he’s gonna see my vision and he’s gonna agree with me.

Tessa: [ Chuckles ] Look, no offense, but noah’s gonna agree with me because your idea is less than inspiring. So, good thing we can count on his artistic eye.

Sharon: Oh, ladies, please. Is this your first official fight as a married couple?

Mariah: You know what?

Tessa: I think it might be.

Sharon: Okay, well, that’s the sign of a pretty strong marriage if the only thing you disagree on is what ornament to put on top of a christmas tree.

Tessa: When you put it that way, you’re right.

Mariah: You know what? I’m gonna call faith. I’m gonna get her opinion on this.

Sharon: No, no, no!

Tessa: No, no, no! Faith is in switzerland. It’s the middle of the night there. That is a no-go.

Sharon: Yeah. Trust me. Trust me on this one. I, uh — I know that faith does not like being woken up at 3:00 in the morning by anyone, not even her mother.

Mariah: I mean, I’m surprised you even let her go with her roommate’s family, especially on christmas, her first christmas at school.

Sharon: I know. It took every ounce of my strength to let her go, but this was such a great opportunity. How could I deny her a european vacation at christmas? As hard as it was, I had to let my daughter be free.

Noah: Well, I hope you enjoy our special seasonal holiday drink.

Sally: Mmm! That’s delicious.

Noah: Great. Alright, well, I have some other guests I have to attend to, so I’ll see you guys later.

Nick: Hey, thanks again for the spot, bud, on a fire night like this.

Sally: Oh, are you sure you used that word correctly?

Noah: No, no, he’s definitely not.

[ Chuckles ]

Nick: Hey, congratulations. You got a smile out of my son. That’s not easy to do.

Sally: Well, you know, i realize that your kids aren’t exactly thrilled about the idea of us as a couple, but, you know, I have a feeling it’s gonna take a lot more than just a joke at your expense to get noah’s approval. But I’ll take the win.

Nick: You have an ease to you tonight. It’s almost like a — an aura of happiness.

Sally: Well, for the first time in ages, I actually feel like I’m in a really good place. I’m not chasing drama. I am not running from it. And I’m not creating it. I have a clear vision of my professional path. And my personal path is actually looking pretty sweet at the moment, too.

Nick: Mm. Is that a fact?

Sally: I have to admit, i really like this whole “going slow” thing. It actually gives me a chance to savor the moment.

Nick: I like it, too. I like it a lot.

Adam: Look, I was hoping to discuss christmas day with you. I would like to bring connor to the ranch for the family festivities.

Victor: You know you’re always welcome here, especially with your boy and especially for the holidays.

Adam: I appreciate that.

Victor: I love the idea that both of you will come.

Adam: Well, you might not be too happy when I ask you for my second favor.

Victor: Oh, yeah? What’s that?

Adam: I’d like chelsea to come, as well.

Victor: Whose idea was that? Connor’s or hers?

Chloe: And there are cookies just on every surface for miles to grab by the handful.

[ Both laugh ]

Chelsea: Ahh. I’m so glad you’re here. I needed this. I feel like everyone, you know, wants to talk about my mental state and how my therapy’s going. It feels good to just sit here with you and laugh.

Chloe: Well, I don’t want to ignore those topics if you want to talk about them.

Chelsea: Well, um, there actually is something I want to share with you.

Chloe: Okay.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] So, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking, obviously, revisiting my past behaviors, things I’ve done, and I have been making amends.

Chloe: Well, that sounds brutal. And very brave of you.

Chelsea: Well, I don’t feel brave, but it was necessary. I’ve done it with, uh, billy, adam, victoria, even sharon. It wasn’t easy, and it wasn’t fun, but every time I do it, i feel like it releases a burden off of my back. You know, being able to look somebody in the eye and tell them I’m sorry for my past actions and for hurting them, it’s been really helpful. Cathartic, even.

[ Clears throat ] So, I’m hoping to do it again now…with you. Hey! It’s me! Your dry skin!

Nick: I think we need to talk about the elephant in the room.

Sally: [ Sighs ] What elephant is that?

Nick: Your christmas day plans.

Sally: Must we? I mean, why ruin a good time?

Nick: Look, um, I know we’re taking it slow, but I’d really, really like to include you.

Sally: Thanks. But I have some complicated feelings surrounding holiday celebrations. Would it still be considered taking it slow if I invited you back to my suite for a nightcap for this conversation?

Nick: I think that’s fair.

Adam: No, dad, okay? It — it was my idea to include chelsea. My son deserves to be around the people he loves most without bouncing between locations.

Victor: Have a seat, son.

[ Breathes deeply ] Look…I feel for the boy. And I understand he wants to be with his mother, especially during the holidays. But you know that I can’t forget that she threw a wrench into victoria’s life by insisting on telling johnny that she is his biological mother.

Adam: Chelsea didn’t intend to wreck victoria’s life or johnny’s life. She had no idea how he was going to respond.

Victor: [ Sighs ] How do I know that she isn’t using this opportunity to get closer to johnny, which would upset victoria? You know that. So…no, son, I — I don’t want her here.

Chloe: Chelsea, we are best friends. We’re good. I mean, if anyone needs to make amends, it’s me.

Chelsea: You?

Chloe: Yeah. For blowing up the cabin with adam in it. And I’m still embarrassed about running away with connor to paris all those years ago.

Chelsea: I appreciate you saying all that. But this is about me making amends. I have to do this. And I’m actually not referencing stuff that happened a long time ago. I’m talking about this year.

Chloe: I thought we got past all that.

Chelsea: I feel like I need to own up to my anger at you. I blamed you for everything that went wrong at newman media or fenmore’S. You know, I rejected your concern over my obsession over adam and sally and then rey. I didn’t want to listen to anything you had to say. I accused you of being a bad friend, when, really, you saw the warning signs before anybody else. You confronted me. You were willing to jeopardize our friendship in order to force me to see the truth.

Chloe: I was just worried about you.

Chelsea: I realize that now. You knew what was happening. I was spinning. And I was pushing you away when, really, you were just being the best kind of friend because you were being an honest one. And I’m really sorry for everything I put you through. And I’m thankful, and I’m grateful that you stuck with me. And I’m so grateful that you still care about me.

Chloe: Apology accepted. And I just want you to know that [Sniffles] I just want us to let go of the past and focus on the present and the future and about you getting better so you can reach your full potential. I am here for whatever you need, and I just want to try to help you find your purpose.

Chelsea: I know.

[ Chuckles ]

Sharon: Alright, guys, here you go.

Tessa: Oh, what’s all this?

Sharon: Mmm!

Mariah: Well, I thought we could use some delicious holiday treats to celebrate our decorating.

Noah: Guess I’m a little late. This place seems like it’s already done.

Sharon: Hey!

Mariah: Hey! No, no, no, we are not done until we get your professional seal of approval.

Noah: You got it. Looks great to me.

Mariah: Mm-hmm. And the tree topper?

Noah: Yeah. Yeah, I like that you guys went with something a little more subtle. And you definitely earned this little cookie break you’re about to take.

Mariah: And also because mom is missing faith right now. So, I was wondering — maybe you have something a little stronger than cocoa, maybe one of glam club’s new, fabulous holiday cocktails?

Sharon: Yeah?

Noah: Sorry. I don’T.

Sharon: Ohh!

Tessa: Well, we’re meeting with a pregnant woman after new year’s to discuss the possibility of adoption.

Sharon: Oh, really? That’s amazing!

Tessa: Yeah.

Sharon: That’s great! Uh, mariah? What’s wrong?

Tessa: Oh, no. Did I blow it? I’m sorry. I know we agreed not to say anything. Hi, I’m lauren, I lost 67 pounds on golo.

Sally: I don’t want you to feel obligated to include me in your christmas plans. Joining your family for the holidays is not in the “taking it slow” manual. I checked.

Nick: I would absolutely love to bring you to the ranch for christmas, but my sister and parents have some trust issues where you’re concerned.

Sally: I’m not surprised. Victoria fired me, and even though I tried to withstand victor’s judgment whenever i worked at newman, I know I never really won him over.

Nick: Actually, it’s, uh — it’s worse than that.

Sally: How so?

Nick: Uh, my dad had a dossier prepared of your time in L.A. To try and scare me off.

Sally: [ Sighs heavily ]

Adam: Look, I’m — I’m telling you that chelsea doesn’t have any ulterior motives. If anything, I’m hoping that she’ll put aside her qualms and hesitations about being in your home after everything that you did to her.

Victor: What do you mean, after everything I did to her? What are you talking about?

Adam: I’m talking about you forcing her to fake a mental breakdown over poisoning rey to get her institutionalized.

Victor: Are you forgetting i did it for her benefit, for heaven sake? I prevented her from being criminally prosecuted for nearly killing a man and then blaming you for it.

Adam: Okay, look, I’m not here to fight or dredge up some old history. I’m here to make a plea for my family on christmas. My family, something you claim to value. And as far as johnny’s concerned, he and connor have actually grown closer since finding out they’re biological brothers. So, I think it’d be good for them to spend, uh, some holiday time together. I know connor would like to be around all of his family on christmas.

Victor: Remember, son, you were coming to see me to ask me a favor, okay? So watch your tone. Now, if this means as much as you say it does to you and to connor… then you’re welcome. Chelsea can tag along, okay?

Adam: I appreciate that.

Victor: Good. You should.

Chloe: Ahh. I mean, how long has it been since we’ve just hung out like two girlfriends, laughing, crying?

Chelsea: Mm-hmm.

Chloe: Ahh, I… I really miss this. And I just have to say, as your most honest friend, I can see that you are doing a lot better.

Chelsea: I am. You know, at first I was faking it to make it, you know, just putting it on a front so everyone wouldn’t be so worried about me. But now I’m feeling stronger.

Chloe: That’s so good to hear.

Chelsea: What I went through was a real wake-up call for me. So [Sighs] Figuring out my new purpose, whatever that may be, is part of my new journey.

Chloe: Well, like I said before, whatever you need, I’m here.

Chelsea: What I think I need is a total and complete personal and professional makeover.

[ Laughs ] So, I will keep you posted because I’m definitely gonna need your help because this time I’m gonna get it right.

Tessa: I am so sorry.

Mariah: [ Sighs ]

Tessa: I got carried away. And, honestly, I didn’t think you would mind me telling sharon and noah.

Mariah: It’s fine. I’m not mad. I just… I don’t want to get everyone’s hopes up just have them dashed again.

Sharon: You mean you don’t want to get your own hopes up, which is totally understandable. You know, you’re on this roller coaster of emotion. You just have to hang in there through the ups and downs.

Mariah: I just have all of these maternal instincts kicking in. I — I find myself sitting there and fantasizing about having this child in my arms, thinking about what time of year they’re gonna be born. Is it gonna be a boy or a girl? I’ve even decorated the nursery in my head. It’s just, even the idea of a baby is making its way into my heart.

Tessa: I mean, me too. That’s why I wanted to share it. It’s joyful. Yes, there have been disappointments…but it’s all part of the journey.

Sharon: This is the story of how you and tessa are making your way to your child. And, yes, there’s gonna be twists and turns, but you’re going to get there. And no matter what happens, this is still the next exciting step to reaching your goal. So, thanks for including me, tessa.

Tessa: Well, I hope I managed to cheer you up.

Sharon: You absolutely did.

[ Sighs ] The idea that we’re one step closer to a new baby coming into this family makes this holiday that much brighter. A dental tool is round for a reason.

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Noah: Hey, mariah? I know I said everything looked good, but now that I think about it, mom’s musical tv would probably look a little better over there.

Tessa: Oh, that is a good idea.

Mariah: Yeah, anything that keeps it from the center stage.

[ Laughs ]

Sharon: Wait! No! It’ll get completely lost over there, and no one can even see it! Hey. Happy holidays.

Mariah: Hi.

Chloe: Hi. Yeah. We were just heading out, but then I saw the decorations.

Chelsea: We wanted to say hi. The place looks so festive.

Sharon: Oh, well, thank you. Come on in. Take your coats off.

Chloe: Thanks.

Chelsea: Okay.

Chloe: Well, I didn’t realize how friendly you and sharon got. I mean, that’s a change.

Chelsea: Well, it’s nice, right? Sharon’s really been there for me. A lot of people have.

[ Cellphone ringing ]

Chelsea: Excuse me. Be right back.

Chloe: Okay.

Chelsea: Hello?

Adam: Hey, chelsea. Connor wants to stay at the ranch tonight. He is, uh, determined to decorate the barn, and he’s just convinced the horses need some holiday cheer, too.

Chelsea: Oh. Um, yeah. I was looking forward to spending some time with him, but it’s late already, so, sure. Far be it for me to deny the horses.

Adam: Are you sure you’re alright with it? You don’t mind being alone?

Chelsea: I’m fine. Don’t worry about me, okay? I’ll see you tomorrow.

Sharon: It’s terrible over there. If it has to stay there…

Noah: You know, come on. It looks so much better there.

Sharon: Then I have to get a bigger musical tv.

[ Indistinct conversations ]

Nikki: Wait until you see how connor has decorated the barn.

Victor: Oh, yeah?

Nikki: He’s put red ribbons on the hay bales and he found a little christmas tree and he’s wrapping up apples as presents for the horse.

Victor: [ Laughs ] That’s cute. That’s cute.

Nikki: Our grandson seems pretty happy these days.

Victor: Yep.

Nikki: Victor?

Victor: Mm-hmm?

Nikki: I think that adam’s visit has troubled you.

Victor: Well, it hasn’t troubled me so much as it has made me curious. I think he wants to reconnect with his family and doesn’t know how. You know, he suggested that he bring connor for christmas.

Nikki: Well, of course you said yes.

Victor: Oh, yeah, I love the idea. However, he also suggested that chelsea come along.

Nikki: Oh. I think I know what that’s all about.

Victor: What?

Tessa: I don’t know.

[ Light laughter ]

Sharon: Chelsea, could you help me with something over here, please?

Chelsea: Sure.

Sharon: Here. Taste that and tell me what you think.

Chelsea: Okay. Mmm. Oh, that’s good. It hits the spot.

Sharon: Great. Now, what do you think about where we should put my musical tv?

Chelsea: Actually, you know what, sharon? I think I’ve been cooped up for too long. I think I need to get out. I think a walk on a crisp evening like tonight would be just what I need.

Chloe: Hey, I — I could go with you.

Chelsea: That’s so sweet, but I think I want to be alone.

Sharon: You sure you want to do that? It’s dark outside.

Chelsea: Yeah. I promise, guys. I’m — I’m fine. I just want to get a little air. I’ll call if I need anything.

Sally: Of course victor had me investigated. Ugh! Must have been a pretty thick file. None of it scared you off?

Nick: Didn’t bother to read it.

Sally: [ Sighs ] I really wish you would have. That way, I would have known if anything in my past was a dealbreaker. I mean, you deserve to know who I am and…what I’m capable of.

Nick: I think I have a pretty good idea of who you are.

Sally: Yeah, but not who i used to be. I’m not proud of a lot of the stuff that I did in L.A. Usually it was because I let my ambition or chasing after some guy get the best of me. I even… I faked a terminal illness to get what I wanted. And don’t pretend that doesn’t mean something to you after what ashland did. I know how much you hated him after what he did to victoria.

Nick: Just…stop, okay? I don’t want to hear any more about it.

Chelsea: [ Breathes deeply ] Adam. What are you doing here?

Adam: I, uh — I just saw you leaving crimson lights. I just wanted to check on you. Would, um — would you mind if I join you?

Sally: You don’t want to hear about my past because it’s so horrifying?

Nick: Some of what you told me is pretty extreme. But here’s the thing. Uh, I don’t want to hear about your misdeeds. Now, don’t get me wrong. I want to know everything about you. And I will talk about whatever you want. But the things that interest me are, like…childhood memories. First pet. You a dog or a cat person? Um, did you ever star a school play? You like sports? Please tell me you like sports.

Sally: [ Chuckles ]

Nick: First celebrity crush. That’s what I want to know. Alright? All that other stuff — i promise you, I’ve done just as bad, if not more. So has everyone else in this town.

Sally: Yeah, I have noticed there are a lot of morally ambiguous folks around here.

Nick: Right? Some people are allowed to turn the page and move on. Others aren’T. I can’t stand that. I’m not gonna play that game. I know who you are now. That’s enough for me. I don’t need to read some dossier about you.

Sally: Well, in that case… …my first pet was an adorable little beagle.

Nick: Mm-hmm.

Sally: I starred as genna the gypsy in high school. And I excelled at acrobatics. And prince rocked my world.

Nick: There we go. This is the stuff that intrigues me.

Sally: Thank you, nick, for caring about who I am. And I don’t know about you, but I’m really excited to see where this is going.

Chelsea: I really am fine.

Adam: Well, I’m glad to hear that. I, on the other hand — I was feeling a little lonely tonight without connor. So I figured I would come and find you since you’re the only other person who would understand.

Chelsea: Hmm. I didn’t realize you felt that way, too. The holidays are tricky, you know? They can be wonderful and joyous, but, um, they can also be hard, can’t they?

[ Chuckles ]

[ Both sigh ]

Adam: So, we, uh, are all set for christmas at the ranch. You know, if you’re still up for it. Victor even promised to be on his best behavior.

Chelsea: Hmm. Being with the newmans will be a testament to my newfound strength.

Adam: You know, you don’t have to go if you don’t feel ready for it.

Chelsea: No, I want to go. I want to go. It’s important for connor. That place is magical for him, and I don’t want to do anything to dampen his holiday spirit. Plus, I need to see how he decorated the barn.

Adam: [ Chuckles ] Mm-hmm. Just so you know, I, uh — i haven’t told victor and nikki about your recent hospitalization. I figured you should be the one to decide what you want to say and who you want to say it to. It’s your choice, so it’s not gonna come from me. I’m sure victoria feels the same way.

Chelsea: I appreciate that. I talked to my therapist about it, and she agrees. You know, I have to be in charge of telling the people that i want when I want. Plus, I really wouldn’t want to add to the drama [Chuckling] At that family event anyway.

[ Sighs ]

Adam: Well, don’t worry. I’ll be close. I’ll be your wingman. So, if you want to get out of there, just say the word and we will leave.

Chelsea: Thank you for your support and all your help with connor. I know this whole thing hasn’t been easy on you, especially since billy’s been involved.

Adam: [ Sighs ]

Chelsea: So, while we’re talking about open, honest conversation, is there anything you want to say about that?

Victor: What do you know about the chelsea situation?

Nikki: Victoria said that chelsea has been in a bad place, and I assumed it had to do with johnny’s initial reaction in hearing that she was his biological mother.

Victor: Mm-hmm. Well, I hear that johnny and connor are getting along quite well together now.

Nikki: Yeah. Connor mentioned johnny when we were trimming the tree. I think they have become closer.

Victor: Yeah. Well, according to adam, it would do both chelsea and connor good to spend the holidays with us.

Nikki: Well, you know, I feel all families should be together on the holidays.

Victor: I know you do, baby.

Nikki: That’s why it’s good that adam wants to be here with us.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Nikki: I know how happy you would be if you were able to bring him back into the family fold.

Victor: Well, that’s up to adam, you know? He’s the one who turned his back on us. He’s the one who decided to join jabot of all places instead of newman. So, if he wants to be back in the fold, then let him make the move.

Nikki: Perhaps him choosing to be with us on christmas is a first step.

Victor: Yeah. Yeah. My asthma felt anything but normal.

Sally: [ Chuckles ] Well, uh, so much for taking it slow.

Nick: Yeah. Did we even make it 24 hours?

[ Smooches ]

Sally: [ Sighs ] I really don’t want to interfere with your family plans for christmas. It’s one day. I’ll be fine.

Nick: Mm. You know what? I’m more than happy to change my plans…for you. So, how about if I spend some time with my family, make sure christian’s happy… and then I am all yours. We’ll do something special. Just the two of us.

Sally: That sounds perfect.

Nick: Yeah.

Adam: All that matters is your recovery, chelsea. So, if billy abbott can help facilitate that, I have no problem with it.

Chelsea: You mean that?

Adam: I do.

[ Sighs ] You know, your strength and your bravery through this whole thing — I mean the way that you faced it head on with honesty and integrity — inspired me. So it’s only fair that I be equally honest with you.

Chelsea: Thank you. What about you? How you doing this holiday season, huh?

Adam: Ahh.

Chelsea: I know your break-up with sally is still very fresh. And even though I’m not her biggest fan, I could see that the two of you had something special. So, how you feeling about all that?

Adam: Well, I will admit I do have moments of self-pity and loneliness. But I’m trying to focus on what I’ve got — a wonderful son with a caring mother. So, I think this holiday, both of us should just focus on our family.

Ashley: Well, I’m not sure you’re gonna find that to be true in 10 minutes. I might not be that great of company today.

Tucker: Uh-oh. Rough morning?

Ashley: Yeah. Um, Kyle was really upset with me.

Tucker: Oh. What about?

Ashley: Jeremy Stark’s in town.

Tucker: Mm.

Ashley: Yeah. And Jack and Kyle both think that Diane’s in danger, and of course they blame me.

Tucker: Well, if you ask me about —

Ashley: You’re gonna say that she deserves everything she gets — right? — Because she brought it on herself.

Tucker: No. No. That’s actually not what I was gonna say.

Ashley: Oh, okay. What?

Tucker: [Laughs] Of all the people I know, you are one of the smartest and most capable and savviest. So please don’t take this the wrong way, but I believe you are in way over your head with this jeremy stark business. And I think it would be wise for you, moving forward, to um, distance yourself from nikki and Phyllis

**************************”***”

Ashley: I love it that you want me to let go of my anger when it’s actually your past actions that need letting go of.

Tucker: Mm. God. I love you. And that is what I love about us, that we are equally matched. ‘Cause you see me, right? But I see you, too. You know, when you ended things, I recall you saying to me, “love isn’t enough.” And looking back at those days, I understand why it wasn’t, I mean, considering what I did to you and — and where we were as people back then. But if time passes and people evolve and — and two people come to have a deeper understanding, a deeper connection with each other, isn’t that enough? I mean, at least as a foundation to grow on? Aren’t we both wiser now and have enough life experience to [Sighs] — To realize what we lost? ‘Cause I know you know how good itwas.

[Chuckles] Can you imagine how much better it would be now if we just gave us one more chance?

Nick: Hey.

Sally: I didn’t expect to see you.

Nick: Yeah. I can be unpredictable. Some mornings I’m at Crimson Lights. Others, I’m here.

Sally: Well, I expected it to be a Crimson Lights morning.

Nick: Is it a problem for you that I’m here?

Sally: Not as long as you behave yourself.

Nick: No promises.

Sally: Well, are you gonna be a gentleman and open the door for me?

Nick: Yes.

Sally: Thank you. I can get my own table.

Nick: Look, there’s no reason why we can’t have breakfast together. I’m still working through some things where we’ but I wouldn’t mind some company while I crush some pancakes

*******†************************

Nick: Hey, bud. Hopefully my dad’s not dragging you into too many crazy things.

Michael: [ Chuckles ] He’s keeping things interesting, just the way I like it.

Sally: Well, we don’t want to interrupt your morning any longer. Enjoy your breakfast.

Lauren: Thank you. They’re sharing a meal together, even though they don’t work together anymore. You think something’s going on?

Michael: There are thousands of things that concern me. Whether or not nick and sally are dating doesn’t even come close to making that list.

Tucker: Care for a drink? Or maybe a watch to replace the one that’s obviously broken?

[Chuckles]

Audra: Apologies for being tardy, but I do have a life of my own and a job at Chancellor-Winters. What was this urgent information I needed to know?

Tucker: I have been informed that Jeremy Stark is in Genoa City.

Audra: Fresh out of Federal prison and he finds his way here? That’s not a coincidence.

Tucker: No. And I’m sure he wants to make Diane squirm.

Audra: She must be absolutely terrified. I mean, he has to be looking for a little revenge, right? But what about you? Should you strap on a bulletproof vest in case Stark comes looking for you?

Daniel: Yeah. Thought you could use some dessert.

Lily: I said no to the dessert menu at Society.

Daniel: I know. But I know that you still wanted something sweet. You just didn’t want it from there.

Lily: [Chuckles] Okay. Are you psychic now?

Daniel: Mm. Better. Impeccable memory. How could I ever forget how much Lily Winters loves dessert?

Lily: [Laughs] Okay, fine. Red Velvet cupcake and a cappuccino.

Daniel: Cappuccino? At this hour?

Lily: Yeah, you know, a CEO’s work is never done.

Daniel: Uh, you’re not really gonna go back to work? I know that was the plan, but it’s getting late.

Lily: No, I have to get back. I have a lot of deadlines pending. But thank you for tagging along.

Daniel: Ooh. Oh, I see. You — you think that this was all about you? Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. See, I’m here for some of that Red Velvet cupcake action, too.

Lily: Okay, well, you better get your own ’cause I’m not sharing.

Daniel: I remember.

Lily: You remember?

Daniel: Yeah. I do.

Billy: Brought the perfect goodies — classic snacks for a classic comedy, guaranteed to make you laugh.

Chelsea: Does it look like i need cheering up?

Billy: Well, I mean, everybody could use a — use a laugh, right? I mean, I could use one right about now. I mean, we could go superhero. We could watch some costumed people blow a bunch of things up. Or we could go sci-fi. I mean, with me, older, the better. “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” right there for me. So many choices, so little time. What do you say? Your pick.

Chelsea: Um, uh, it doesn’t matter. Whatever you think.

Billy: Yeah, maybe I, uh — maybe I should have called first, huh? Are you upset that I showed up unannounced?

Chelsea: No. No, no. I’m really — I’m happy you’re here. I am.

Billy: I’m not buying that. Feels like there’s something else going on. I mean, I mentioned “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians,” and i didn’t get nothing out of you. Straight crickets. So, what is it? What’s going on?

***************************†****

Nick: I mean…

[Exhales heavily] I-I don’t know what else to say. Believe me, under this calm exterior, there’s raging jealousy. I think it’s gonna take more time than you think to, uh, get past this. I think the big question is, what does it mean for us? I don’t mean to put you on the spot.

Sally: No, you’re not at all. And I can answer that right now. I want us to date. You know, with my new sense of freedom, I’m ready to get to know you more fully now that i don’t have to worry what Adam thinks every time he sees us out there together. That’s where I stand. The rest is up to you.

Phyllis: Hey, guys.

Summer: Hey, mom.

Phyllis: Oh, my goodness. So, it’s time to clock out, isn’t it? How about we go out to dinner?

Kyle: Yeah, we were just going to grab some quick on the way home.

Phyllis: Oh, all right. Well, why don’t we grab something quick together? We don’t spend a lot of time together. Want to spend some quality time with your mother-in-law? I mean, nothing is more important than family, right?

****************************

Nick: Yeah, well, he is who he is, right? How about you? Are you, uh, having a nice, quiet dinner over there tonight?

Summer: Uh, yeah. Sure, let’s — let’s go with that. Do you want to join me?

Nick: Ooh, I really don’t. No.

Summer: Come on.

Nick: Summer, I love you more than anything in this world. But honestly, that looks like it’s going to be filled with more family drama, and I’ve had my fill for today.

Summer: I could really use a buffer, and I’m pretty sure that falls under the list of fatherly duties.

Nick: Oh, come on. Are you pulling the dad card?

Summer: It’s what daughters do.

Nick: I’m such a sucker when it comes to you. Okay, fine, let’s go.

Summer: Come on.

Nick: All right, the party is here.

Phyllis: Yes, it is.

Nick: What are we talking about?

Phyllis: Um, Marchetti.

Nick: Yeah. How is Marchetti? Are mother and daughter at each other’s throats yet?

Kyle: Quite the opposite.

Nick: Don’t know if I believe that. You two tend to have creative differences.

Phyllis: Well, look at you coming in hot. Okay, that’s a really unfair characterization of me and my daughter.

Nick: I’m not saying it’s your whole relationship. Just when you’re working together, because you’re both very strong-willed, fiery women.

Phyllis: Yes, we are both strong women who get things done.

Summer: That’s right.

Phyllis: Right?

Tucker: All right, what’ll you have?

Ashley: I would love a hot chocolate.

Tucker: You sure you don’t want some fancy coffee drink with foam and extra shots and scalded this and that?

Ashley: Tucker, I’m a very simple girl. Okay. [Chuckles] Don’t buy it, huh? How about some cinnamon on top?

Tucker: Of what? Oh, the hot chocolate?

Ashley: Yes.

Tucker: Okay. Uh, hi, sir. Uh, two hot chocolates. With cinnamon. Keep the change.

Ashley: Thank you.

Tucker: Thank you. Thanks for hanging out. It was a lovely day.

Ashley: Yeah. Brr. I’m still kind of shocked, though, that a man like you who loves his creature comforts actually wanted to surprise me with a picnic in the wintertime, no less.

Tucker: Yeah, I loved the look on your face when we got there.

Ashley: Well, it was magical.

Tucker: Oh, glad I can still dazzle you once in a while.

Ashley: Yeah. I mean, as far as picnics go, I will always remember it. A lovely and sweet moment in nature capped off by an offer to fund my very own empire. Please, would you stop being so coy and just tell me what you’re after? Because I’m dying to know.

********************†********

Tucker: Just wanted to spend some time with you alone in a beautiful setting, and I would gladly help you build your own business separate from Jabot. Kind of the way you did when you decamped to Paris years ago.

Ashley: Mm. You heard about that?

Tucker: Mm-hmm. I was impressed by it. And with no one to stop you, you were really on the verge of great things. I was disappointed when you closed up shop and merged with Jabot.

Ashley: That’s why you came, right? That’s why you’re here? You don’t really want Jabot, but you just want to convince me to leave Jabot? Or is it maybe a misguided attempt to protect me before you decide to pounce on my family’s business?

Tucker: Boy, you know what’d be nice? If, for once, you just took me at my word. But… I guess I knew that earning your trust was going to take time and patience

Adam: How, uh — how did your lunch go with Nick?

Sally: It was terrific. Thank you for asking. We grabbed a bite, Nick went back to the office, and I stayed here, where it’s quiet, to work on my new business concept.

Adam: So, everything’s good then?

Sally: What is with all the questions? Yes, I’m fine. I’m fine. I’m making exploratory calls. I’m percolating ideas. I’m — I’m — I’m setting my life on a fresh trajectory, you know? Or trying to, anyway.

[Sighs] Oh, my god. Who am I kidding? No. No. No. I’m not fine, okay? I’m the opposite of fine.

Adam: I’m not sure what brought on that little outburst, but I’m sure that I deserve it, whatever the cause.

Sally: “Whatever the cause”? You, Adam. You are the cause. I mean, after that ridiculous profession of love? Do you recognize how embarrassed I was? After all of the rotten things that you’ve done, that was the capper. I mean, as if you haven’t tortured me enough.

Adam: Torture, Sally? Come on. That’s a bit strong.

Sally: Mm. On the contrary. I think it’s actually not strong enough. First getting me to fall for you, then pushing me away, and then lying to me about all of it, and now this?

****************************

Diane: [Sighs] I have told Jack and Kyle everything about my relationship with Jeremy. They know exactly what kind of man he is, and yet they have promised to protect me if it comes to that.

Tucker: Then they’re both fools.

Diane: Oh, really? So, what does that make you, hiding behind Ashley and the ladies?

Tucker: Is that what you think I’m doing?

Diane: Uh-huh. You fed them information about my past mistakes. You painted me in the worst possible light. And now you’re letting them do your dirty work, threatening to sic Jeremy on me, hoping to chase me out of town, all because I didn’t give you what you wanted. I couldn’t give it to you. Tucker, I never had access to any of the financial information about Jabot that you were after.

Tucker: You are a very resourceful woman. You could have found a way if you really wanted to.

Diane: You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Tucker: Ah. I know this much — you lied to me. And you told me what you thought I wanted to hear, but you never really had any intention of fulfilling your end of the deal, did you? So [Clicks tongue] Consequences.

Diane: [Chuckles] You are like a really rich toddler throwing a tantrum. But I’m not giving in.

Tucker: Yeah, so you keep insisting.

Diane: I am stronger than you think. And besides that, I finally have what I wanted for so long. My son is in my life. Not to mention I have a place in my grandson’s life. So don’t get your hopes up — or Ashley’s — because I’m not going to run.

Phyllis: I mean, what is this? What has happened to us? My own daughter doesn’t believe me. For the last time, this is not my responsibility. This is what Diane did. I didn’t do it. Nikki didn’t do it. Ashley didn’t do it. No one did it but Diane.

Summer: Diane wouldn’t even be on Stark’s radar right now if it wasn’t for you.

Phyllis: And Stark wouldn’t even be here if it wasn’t for Diane. And what she did in Los Angeles when she was lying to everybody, pretending she was dead — come on. This is her responsibility. She takes no accountability. And now she’s paying the price.

Summer: Yes, but everyone has a past, present company included. So, by your logic, does nobody deserve a second chance? Where would that leave either of us, hmm?

Phyllis: Okay. Where is this coming from? This is not how you feel about me, Summer. You’re just taking Jack’s lead, when he was rattling off my past history and using it against me.

Summer: Actually, I have defended you to Jack so many times, earlier today included, but you make that really difficult.

Phyllis: You could say what you want, go ahead and claim what you want, but you haven’t trusted Diane from the minute she arrived in town.

********************************

Nikki: When Sally was still in Los Angeles, she told everybody she was dying so she could manipulate them, just like Ashland.

Nick: We have all done things in our life we are not proud of. But I know Sally is not the same person she was in L.A. She’s worked very hard to make some changes in her life. And unlike Ashland, Sally has learned from her mistakes, and she’s determined to do things the right way.

Nikki: She tried to ruin Summer’s life. Summer and Kyle almost didn’t find their way back to each other because of what Sally did.

Nick: But they did. And that trip to Milan turned out to be one of the best things to ever happen to Summer’s life. Now, as Summer’s father, obviously I don’t condone what Sally did to her. But I can see both sides, and I’ve made peace with it.

Nikki: I am so disappointed to hear you say that.

Nick: Well, mom, I’m sorry you and dad don’t agree with this, but whoever I choose to spend my time with is nobody’s business but my own.

Nikki: And I understand that. But aren’t you the least bit concerned about this might affect your relationship with Summer?

Nick: No, because Summer loves me and eventually she’s gonna see that I’m happy and that’s gonna be the only thing that matters to her.
