Jeremy: Diane, you look lovely. Reminds me how chic you used to look every time we used to go out.

Diane: Charming as ever. You always knew just what to say to make me feel beautiful.

Jeremy: Just stating the obvious. Sit.

Diane: Oh, and thoughtful, too. I see you’ve already ordered my favorite champagne.

Jeremy: Only the best for you.

Diane: Well, I’m hoping this means we have something to celebrate.

Jeremy: Let’s see where the evening takes us.

Diane: I was just about to say the same thing.

Sally: Believe me, ghosting you is the last thing on my mind.

Nick: What’s that?

Sally: What?

Nick: What you just threw away.

Sally: Oh, those are just drafts of the pitch that Chloe and I are working on for Jill and Chancellor-Winters.

Nick: Why don’t you let me take a look at it. I know Jill very well. I might be able to give you some insight on how to win her over.

Sally: Uh, no, no. Really, the drafts are not worth looking at, but I might take you up on your offer once we figure everything out. Did you really think that I was trying to blow you off?

Nick: Nah, I wouldn’t be here if I did. I was just thinking about you. A lot. I was just wondering how you’re doing. I’m hoping the stomach bug. Are you still feeling better?

Devon: I got you some coffee.

Abby: Thank you.

Devon: You’re very welcome. I had the, uh, nanny take Dominic down to the kiddie gym so he can get his steps in for the day.

Abby: Oh, you should have woken me up. I love watching him play there. He loves that big green ball.

Devon: Yeah, he does.

********************†**************

Jack: Yes, she has a past. We all do. But since she’s gotten back to Genoa City, she has done nothing to you.

Ashley: That’s true, but only because she hasn’t been given the opportunity. If she found out she had leverage over me, she would not hesitate to use it.

Jack: That is absolutely absurd.

Ashley: Okay. Look, I am trying here, alright? I really am. And I’ve decided that i understand that you would want your son to reconnect with his mother.

Jack: Yes.

Ashley: Okay. I get that. But you have let Diane back into your life, Jack. And from what I saw right here last night, she’s in far too deep.

Jack: I don’t know what you think you saw, but it’s really none of your business. Whether you like it or not, Diane is part of this family.

Ashley: No, I don’t like it! And as far as I’m concerned, she’s not part of this family.

Jack: She is Kyle’s mother. She is Harrison’s grandmother.

Ashley: I know. I just can’t get the image out of my mind of your son as a little boy crying himself to sleep because he thought his mother was dead.

Jack: Diane has changed. Kyle has forgiven her. As far as I’m concerned, that makes her welcome in our home.

Ashley: I can’t forgive her. I can’t forgive her. Does that make me a bad person? I don’t think so. I don’t. Given the pain she’s caused this family, I think that viper deserves permanent exile from this house.

Jack: Wow. Isn’t it ironic that you, of all people, are opposed to a viper coming into this house?

Billy: It’s chilly.

Lily: Yeah. Yeah. Looks like it might snow.

Billy: Do you want to get to something to eat?

Lily: Um… I’m not really hungry.

Billy: [ Sighs ] Maybe we’ll just start with a drink, huh? What do you think?

Lily: That was really hard.

Billy: Yeah. Yeah, I did not expect our first therapy session to be that bad.

Lily: I think maybe going out tonight was a mistake.

Billy: It’s just dinner.

Lily: Yeah, well, we can’t just sit here and pretend like we didn’t have our first therapy session and it was brutal.

[ Knock on door ]

Nick: Sally? It’s me. You okay?

Sally: Yeah. Yeah, I’ll be right there.

[ Sighs ]

Nick: There you are. Glad you answered. Thought maybe you were ghosting me. I just couldn’t figure out why. That harri

Summer: I’m happy to report that harrison has settled in with a movie. Even though he has seen it a million times, it still somehow captivates him.

Kyle: Glad he’s content, because I’m not, after that bomb dropped on me at the office.

Summer: Look, I know that my timing wasn’t great. I totally forgot that you had that big meeting scheduled. I didn’t realize that you’d have to go before we could finish our conversation.

Kyle: Well, meeting’s over now, so we can pick back up right where we left off. Let’s talk about this plan of yours. Do you really want to take our son out of the country?

Sharon: Hey, jack. Jack, hello?

Jack: Oh, I’m sorry. I’m just distracted. I’m sorry.

Sharon: Oh, well, I hope everything’s okay. Do you need anything?

Jack: No. You know what? It’s nothing worth getting into. I just… I’m worried about a friend.

Sharon: Okay, well, you looked a little upset, and, by the look on your face, I can tell it’s about somebody very close to you.

Jeremy: Diane, you look lovely. Reminds me how chic you used to look every time we used to go out.

Diane: Charming as ever. You always knew just what to say to make me feel beautiful.

Chance: Hey.

Sharon: Oh, hey.

Chance: What’s going on?

Sharon: Well, you caught me. I was hoping if I stared at my phone long enough, I could will it to ring.

Chance: Well, I gather that hasn’t worked yet.

Sharon: Not yet. Mariah and tessa are meeting with the birth mother of a baby they’re hoping to adopt, and I’m just dying to know how it’s going.

Chance: Wow, that’s huge that they’re this far in the process.

Sharon: Yeah, it’s really exciting. But I’m trying to stay cautious and not get my hopes up too much. I realize that a lot of different things could happen that would change the outcome, but if it’s meant to be, is meant to be, right?

Chance: I’ve been telling myself that a lot lately.

Sharon: How about you? How are you doing?

Chance: Oh, you know how it is. Crime doesn’t sleep. Wrap up a case, and another one rears its ugly head.

Sharon: Well, I wasn’t talking about your work. I was talking about you.

Summer: You said that like you think that I plan on permanently leaving the country, moving back to milan with harrison. No, I’m just talking about a short trip to the textile show in paris.

Kyle: No, it’s pretty obvious this is more than just a business jaunt. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be planning on taking harrison.

Summer: Yeah, with everything going on, I’d like for our son to be far away from any potential danger.

Kyle: Hey, hey, I know you don’t love the way my mother’s chaos with stark has taken over our lives, but I hope you realize everything we’re doing right now is necessary given the circumstances.

Summer: No, kyle, I really don’T. It seems like, every day, things are just spinning further and further out of control, and we’re getting dug in deeper. A new plot, a new plan. What’s next?

Jeremy: I am certainly impressed that you chose this spot to meet. It reminds me of that club in ibiza.

Diane: I remember it well. I think I had more than the usual amount of cash hidden in my luggage for that trip.

Jeremy: I was fond of that very profitable excursion. I mean, the dance music, the 24-hour party scene.

Diane: It was wild.

Jeremy: But if I were to accept your proposition, reuniting and using our particular skill set, we couldn’t go back to our old method of doing business together, and certainly not through our favorite party spots. And the feds would be on us the minute we stepped on a private plane headed out of the country.

Diane: Well, you’re probably right, but between the two of us, we’re pretty clever. I’m sure we could put our heads together and come up with the perfect plan.

Jeremy: We do make a terrific team. Maybe we could travel separately. Then you can go alone and make the transactions. Since you don’t have any parole officers tracking you.

Diane: Or maybe we don’t have to leave the country at all. That would certainly eliminate some of the risks for you. I mean, there are plenty of opportunities right here in genoa city.

Jeremy: Mm. I like the way you’re thinking.

Diane: Good. So if we’re going to stay here, we need to decide on a new target. I have a few ideas of my own.

Jeremy: As do I. Take this spot. This would be the perfect money-laundering venue. And then we wouldn’t raise suspicions of us leaving the country. I could definitely see myself having a piece of this place. Huh.

I’m hoping the stomach bug didn’t come back to bite you. Are you still feeling better?

Sally: Yeah. Yep, I’m fine.

Nick: You sure? A healthier heartcould

Billy: You know, I got to be honest. I did not expect our first therapy session to go the way that it — that it did.

Lily: Well, how did you think it was going to go?

Billy: I — I don’t know. I guess it was — I just thought it would be a little bit more conversational, you know, like, “how long have you been together?” “Where did you meet?” “Do you have friends in common?” But the guy was just — he was hard and… I mean, he didn’t even chuckle when I tried to lighten the mood with a joke.

Lily: I know. He didn’t even give a polite smile.

[ Sniffles ]

Billy: You know, maybe — maybe we need a new therapist. We can try somebody different.

Lily: Well, did you disagree with anything that he said?

Billy: No. Unfortunately, he was on point.

Lily: Right, so would you want someone to sugarcoat things and lie to us?

Billy: [ Sighs ] No, I think brutally honest is the way to go.

[ Sighs ] I think I’m just trying to process this.

Lily: Yeah. Me, too. I think, though, that a lot of what we talked about, we kind of already knew. You know, we’ve been going in opposite directions for a while now.

Billy: Yeah, some of the questions that he asked and the way that we answered them…

Lily: I know. It’s like we have so little common ground that we were destined to end up like this.

Chance: There are far more interesting things to talk about than me. Trust me.

Sharon: Look, I know you’ve been going through a rough time. I genuinely want to know how you’re doing through all of it.

Chance: Yeah, alright. Um… well, honestly, life’s just kind of weird right now. You know, all of a sudden, I feel like I have to establish new habits. You know, like, even little things that used to get the day started are different. I mean, the — the anticipation of seeing dom in the morning, that used to give me an bed.

Sharon: I understand exactly how you feel. I felt the same way when rey died and my daughter moved out. You know, with faith away at college, I realized how long it’s been since I’ve had dinner alone. Now it’s almost every night.

Chance: That’s exactly what I’m talking about. I mean, it’s little things like that that just hits home a little harder, right? I mean, suddenly I’ll look up and it’s late, and I haven’t eaten because dinner’s just about food now. Used to be about family time, you know, talking over our days, going over dom’s latest achievements, getting him fed before bedtime.

Sharon: Yeah, the joys of family, right? Hey, I have an idea.

Summer: Let’s face it, there’s no guarantee that this is going to get rid of stark. Bribes and threats were not enough to send him packing. Your mom’s fake disappearance didn’t fool him into walking away. So what makes you so sure that this is going to be the end?

Kyle: Because she knows him very well. She knows how to handle him.

Summer: And what happens when stark figures out that diane is setting him up to take the fall? What happens when he feels trapped or provoked? Kyle, this is serious.

Kyle: She is risking her own safety for all of us.

Summer: It’s not just her own safety she’s risking.

Kyle: Just believe me, summer. I would never, ever let danger come anywhere close to you or harrison. I hope you know me better than that.

Jack: [ Sighs ]

Diane: You need to look elsewhere for a base of operations. This club would not be a good fit.

Jeremy: [ Scoffs ] Whatever happened to living life on the edge? Huh? Thought you missed it. Don’t tell me you’re getting cold feet before I even agree to join forces with you.

Diane: No, no, I’m just — I’m just looking out for you. This club is owned by noah newman, as in victor newman’s grandson. And the space is leased from the owners of the grand phoenix, chancellor-winters, which is owned by two more power families in this town. Just trust me. Trust me, you don’t want to cross them.

Jeremy: Sounds like you’re making excuses.

Diane: [ Sighs ] No, but as your former and hopefully soon-to-be accomplice, you need to listen to me. I know this town and the people in it better than most. And I remember that you like stirring up all kinds of trouble, but this is one headache you don’t need.

Jeremy: Okay. I’ll take your lead on this one.

Diane: I will say, I am encouraged by your current train of thought. You know, it sounds like you’re coming up with a new way to do your business, making plans, and hopefully accepting my offer. It would be nice to officially be on the same side with you.

Jeremy: Not so fast. You still have to pass my loyalty test. Only daisy cottage cheese will do

Sally: Yeah, my stomach issues must’ve just been something that I ate ’cause i am back in full fighting mode now, and if I seem a little off at all, it must just be this proposal that I’m struggling with.

Nick: Okay, well, I won’t be pushy and try to help again, but may I offer an alternate suggestion?

Sally: Like what?

Nick: When I’m at work and I hit a roadblock, I think the best thing I can do is actually take a break, go outside, clear my head. Then when I get right back to it, all the ideas just start flowing, and it may work for you. So what do you say we go get some dinner?

Sally: Well, I am starving, but, I don’t know, I feel like if I keep working, I can figure out this pitch.

Nick: Okay. How about some takeout, then?

Sally: I would like that very much.

Nick: I’ll be back.

[ Door opens ]

[ Door closes ]

Sally: [ Sighs ]

[ Sighs ]

[ Sighs ]

[ Sighs ]

Kyle: Just tell me what I can do to help you feel more comfortable.

Summer: I don’t think that there’s anything that will help except for leaving. It just feels like it’s one conflict after another, and there’s no end in sight. I just — I need some relief. For me and for harrison.

Kyle: We have all taken pains to make sure harrison has no idea what’s going on.

Summer: I know that nobody’s told him about the impending danger, but he’s smart. He can tell that there’s been a change in our attitudes, that we’re on guard all the time.

Kyle: And a sudden trip to france won’t seem odd to him?

Summer: Look, I will do everything to put him at ease. I’m going to make this seem like a fun, new adventure. He’s just in preschool. He can miss a few days. It’s not a big deal. And you know what? I’ll bring the nanny along. It’ll help to make things seem more normal. I promise you, I will stay on top of business, and maybe I’ll even get more done without being constantly distracted by all of this craziness.

[ Sighs ]

Kyle: All good points. I hear you. I really do. And, to be honest, I’m scared, too.

Summer: Then come with us. Me, you, and harrison. Let’s go to paris, the three of us.

Kyle: I can’t leave my mom. Not now. And my fear is different than yours. It’s not about any potential danger to you or harrison. What scares me the most is this situation is starting to come between us, and that’s not something I can bear.

Diane: Why would I turn on you if I’m willing to launder money for you?

Jeremy: Well, the point is, I won’t be played for a sucker, especially from you. I just don’t feel I can trust you…yet.

Diane: Well, I don’t see why not.

Jeremy: Well, you disappeared from me once. Who says you won’t do it again?

Diane: I told you, I ran on impulse, and then I thought about it, and I came back, totally knowing that you would be waiting for me.

Jeremy: I don’t even know where you’re staying now. Are you settled comfortably at the abbott estate?

Diane: No, no, no. Jack has had it with me. I was renting an apartment, but now I’m back at our hotel.

Jeremy: Hm, we’re neighbors.

Diane: Yeah.

Jeremy: Perhaps it’d be more cost-effective if we shared a suite.

Diane: [ Chuckles ] Jeremy, we are going to make so much money with our new partnership that you will rebuild your fortune and then some.

Jeremy: Hm. I don’t remember you being quite so confident during our previous alliance.

Diane: Well, that’s because I was constantly living in fear that my true identity would be exposed.

Jeremy: Now you have nothing to hide except for the criminal enterprise you’re preparing to launch.

Diane: Precisely. And as for this test, I really don’t see why I need to at this point. Just so you know, jack told kyle all about the fight that we had in front of you.

Jeremy: You can’t be surprised by that. I mean, you had to know that he was going to make your son fully aware of your latest betrayal.

Diane: Well, now I’ve officially put my relationship with my family on the line for you. They are furious at me for getting back with you.

Jeremy: Yeah, well, I don’t doubt that you’ll be able to win them over again.

Diane: Well, that’s easy for you to say.

Jeremy: Look, I have to look out for myself, given I’m the one with the criminal record that just got out of prison. So I would be the one that would be risking the most if I got back in the game. So any partnership I make with you would definitely require an act of loyalty on your part.

Diane: Alright. I’m up for the challenge. What exactly do you have in mind?

Jeremy: Something outrageous and dangerous, something that would prove that you would go to the limit for me…and then some. (Dog barking) we love our pets.

Diane: I see. You want me to compromise myself, prove that I have some skin in the game.

Jeremy: It’s only fair, no? I’m only looking for a goodwill offering, something that would land you in the same unpleasant place I just came from.

Diane: Ideally not, though.

Jeremy: Of course not. You’d be no use to me locked up.

Diane: Nor you to me.

Jeremy: I know you. I know you can get away with anything. I mean, you got away with your own murder. That conniving survivor is still in you, deep in your soul.

Diane: [ Chuckles ] You know me so well.

Jeremy: You said you wanted to live life on the edge. Well, this is your chance to prove it. And once you do, we’ll see how committed you are. Then we can get back to our activities.

Diane: What do I have to do?

Jeremy: Surprise me.

Billy: Thank you very much.

[ Clears throat ] You know, let’s not sink too far into despair, okay, over the worst-case scenario.

Lily: No, I know, you’re right. I mean, it was only our first session.

Billy: Yeah, it was our first session. Let’s just try and salvage the night, spend some time together, enjoy ourselves, and maybe just share one of these specials.

Lily: Uh, I mean, I’m not hungry, but you can go ahead.

Billy: Maybe we’ll just start with a drink.

Chance: This was a great idea, sharon. The two of us, eating together.

Sharon: Well, it’s not home cooking, but it’ll do.

Chance: Oh, it’s going to do more than that. Trust me.

Sharon: [ Chuckles ] I hope you’re right. I have never tried ethiopian food before.

Chance: Oh, well, I am so pumped you let me pick the restaurant. I’m telling you, it’s music for your taste buds. The spices are unforgettable. Besides, just like you said, dinner is about more than just food, right? Not only am I out of the house, but I have some very lovely company to share it with.

Sharon: Aww, I feel the same way. And thanks for encouraging me to try something new. Hopefully, this will be a fun, little adventure.

Chance: Well, I promise you, I will not steer you wrong.

Summer: The last thing I want is for anything to come between us. I have been trying so hard to prevent that.

Kyle: I get it. Things are tense here and at the office, not to mention the added stress with the holidays, but it’s not your fault. You’re being pulled in way too many directions, and one of the strongest pulls is your mother.

Summer: Wait a minute.

Kyle: No, I know that you’re so upset, partly because phyllis is so upset.

Summer: Don’t you dare make this about her. This is about diane’s never-ending chaos.

Jack: Thank god you’re here. I was worried sick about you. I was on my way to the club, despite your telling me not to.

Diane: Well, I appreciate your concern, but I’m glad you didn’t show up. It wouldn’t have helped. It might’ve made jeremy suspicious. Turns out, he still doesn’t completely trust me.

Jack: I don’t like the sound of that. You feel like you’re in any more danger?

Diane: No, no, things actually went okay. His greed and arrogance are overshadowing his doubts, just as I thought, and he is falling right into my trap. But before we spring it on him, we need to do one more thing.

Jack: Oh, what’s that?

Diane: We need to find a crime for me to commit.

Who’s on it with jardiance?

Nick: Hope you’re hungry. Got one of everything, including the requisite extra guacamole. What’s that look?

Sally: I just can’t help but marvel in how amazing you are. I mean, you bring me soup and ginger ale when I’m sick and nachos and guacamole when I am hungry.

Nick: You know, they have apps that will do this for you, right?

Sally: Don’t be so modest. You are the perfect man. You’re reassuring and thoughtful and sexy. And no app on earth can do this.

Sharon: The good news is, i made it through all the spices, and I actually really enjoyed my first foray into ethiopian food.

Chance: See? I told you I wouldn’t steer you wrong.

Sharon: Oh, thanks for the tip, though, on that one dish. The heat level in that, it could’ve blown my head off.

Chance: [ Chuckles ]

Sharon: And, um, thanks for taking care of me, too. I guess I owe you one now.

Chance: Oh, that’s not necessary. It’s my treat.

Sharon: Well, I’ve got to pay you back. How about, uh, next week? We could start our own private supper club.

Chance: [ Chuckles ] You don’t have to do that for me. I can, uh — I can handle solo dinners. Trust me, had to do it all the time when I was working undercover. Just got to get used to it again. I’ll be okay.

Sharon: Yeah, I don’t doubt that, but, you know, you’re a friend, and I enjoy talking with you. You know, maybe we can even venture into another new cuisine. How do you feel about peruvian or turkish?

Chance: [ Sighs ]

Sharon: Okay, I — I won’t press the issue. I’ll just leave it up to you.

Chance: Okay. Next week it is.

Kyle: I don’t want to be insensitive, but I have to remind you, phyllis is the one who invited chaos to town.

Summer: I’m really not sure how my mother became solely responsible for diane’s criminal ex-boyfriend. Don’t you think he would’ve eventually tracked her down all on his own?

Kyle: Seriously, summer, are you defending your mother’s actions right now?

Summer: You know what? We need to stop. We just — we can’t keep going over the same ground when nothing changes.

Kyle: Okay. You’re right. This is exactly what I didn’t want to happen.

Summer: Okay, well, then, will you at least just think about harrison and I going to paris? I think it would be good for both of us. Look, if you’re dead set against it, I’ll drop it. Okay? But if not, then, I want to start packing.

Kyle: I love you so much. I just — I hate all of this.

Summer: I hate it, too.

Jack: Stark wants you to commit a crime. Why?

Diane: As a loyalty test. So that he knows that I’m willing to risk jail time for him.

Jack: Oh, I am not crazy about the sound of this.

Diane: Well, neither am I, but I’ve been thinking about it, and I think I can pull this off without risking harm to anyone.

Jack: You are playing with fire, diane.

Diane: All I have to do is get past this hurdle, and then jeremy will be putty in my hands. He will commit a crime, one that we orchestrate, one that will send him right back to prison. Jack, we are so close to having this bastard out of our lives.

Jack: So exactly what crime are you considering?

Diane: Well, I’ve ruled out any kind of violence, obviously.

Jack: Well, thank god for that.

Diane: Yeah, so I think the way to impress and flatter jeremy is if I steal something of considerable value.

Jack: Well, if that’s all it takes, we can open the safe at the house and give him a couple of those things.

Diane: No, no, no. That won’t work.

Jack: Well, couldn’t be easier.

Diane: Of course. That’s why. It’d be too easy, too obvious. Jeremy would see right through it. And if he asks any questions about why I took something from my family and demands to know the details, he’ll suspect a setup, and he will figure out that we’re all in cahoots.

Jack: Yeah, yeah, so who do you intend to rob?

Diane: Well, my victim has to be someone who would never, ever, under any circumstance, help me out. Steal from phyllis? Don’t tempt me. If your moderate to severe crohn’s disease

Lily: Um…

[ Clears throat, sniffles ] I just — I think I need some air.

Billy: I’ll get the bill, then we can walk out.

Lily: Um, I just… I need some time. Is that okay?

Billy: Yeah. Of course. Lily. We’re going to be alright. Okay? We will work on this, continue to go to therapy. We’ll do whatever it takes.

Lily: Billy, let’s just be honest. I mean, this has been going on for months. And we don’t need to keep doing this. Right? I mean… we can’t keep doing this.

[ Cellphone dings ]

Sally: So… do you still have any concerns about me ghosting you?

Nick: Sally, if this is your version of ghosting, I’m all for it. In fact, why don’t you come and ghost me in the shower now?

Sally: I am going to have to take a rain check because I’m starving, and that is your fault. But I’m going to go unpack the goodies, and I will set up a feast while you go shower.

Nick: Okay.

Sally: [ Sighs ]

[ Exhales sharply ]

[ Sighs ]

Kyle: I wish none of this had happened. I wish I could shield you from everything that’s gone on with stark, the issues with our mothers, all of it.

Summer: I want to protect you as much as you want to protect me.

Jack: Tempting as it might be to target her, I think it would be a big mistake to steal from phyllis. She’s too much of a wild card.

Diane: You’re probably right. Using her to dupe jeremy would be karmic justice, but the last thing we need is her going on a rampage and ruining our plan.

Jack: I don’t even want to contemplate what she would do.

Diane: [ Sighs ] And even though I have easy access to ashley’s belongings because she’s in the same house as kyle and harrison, she is still your sister, so it’d make it seem less credible.

Jack: Yeah, not to mention her growing anger at the two of us becoming closer. No, she could be every bit as dangerous to our plan as phyllis.

Diane: So I guess that only leaves one remaining member of the coven, and given that she’s partially responsible for bringing jeremy stark to town, maybe nikki deserves a little larceny coming her way.

Next Week on “The Young and The Restless”:

Chelsea: What happened?

Billy: It’s over.

Tucker: That’s what I remember and missed so much. Don’t tell me you don’t.

Devon: I’m not worried about Nate any more. I’m worried about a completely different threat.

Lily: What are you talking about?

Devon: We have a new traitor at the company.

Young & The Restless Update

Update written by Barbara

At the Society lounge, Billy and Lily are sitting side-by-side with long, drawn sad faces after their first couples counseling session. Billy tries to remain optimistic, telling Lily that they can continue to go for counseling and do whatever they need to save their relationship. Lily says “we need to be honest, as things have been heading downhill for months.  She asks him “we don’t need to keep doing this, right? We can’t keep doing this.”

Nick comes to Sally’s suite and after she welcomes him in, she spots the paper with the first trimester information by. She quickly but not discreetly crumples it upand throws it in the trash can. Nick asks her what it is and when she tells him that it’s a pitch draft she’s been working on for Jill at Chancellor-Winters, he offers to read over the pitch and reaches down for it. Sally manages to stop him, telling him that there’s no need until the pitch is completed.

Nick offers to get some takeout for them, which Sally is in favor of. After he leaves to get the food, she removes the paper and tears it up. Nick returns with nachos and extra guacamole. Sally calls him the “perfect man” … brings her soup and ginger ale when she doesn’t feel well, and nachos when she does.

She and Nick hit the sheets and when he goes to take a shower, Sally opens the bag of nachos, takes a whiff and gets queasy from it.

At the Abbott house, Kyle and Summer are having a disagreement about her impending trip to Paris with Harrison. Summer reiterates what she told Kyle at Jabot, that she is worried about the danger in Genoa City.

Kyle is concerned about the conflict this is bringing to his and Summer’s marriage. When he mentions Phyllis, Summer strongly suggests that he not make things about her mother, when it’s actually about Diane and one chaotic thing after another that she has caused since she returned to Genoa City.

Kyle reminds Summer that Phyllis lured Jeremy to town, but Summer says that a criminal mastermind like him would have found out Diane’s whereabouts anyway. Kyle and Summer look at each other lovingly and hug. Summer tells him that unless he is strongly against her going to Paris with Harrison, she wants to start packing. She and Kyle are on the same page about protection for their family so he agrees that she could go to the textile show in Paris and bring Harrison with her.

On the Crimson Lights patio, Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) observes that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) is deep in thought and appears distraught. She asks if he’s okay and he mentions that he’s worried about a friend.

After Sharon goes back inside the coffeehouse, Chance comes in and mentions that he’s been alright and will continue to be okay with eating dinner alone, without Abby and Dominic. Sharon convinces him to go get takeout and the two of them come back with Ethopian food from a restaurant Chance recommended.

Sharon is enjoying the food and the company so she suggests that they could do this again next week, like a private supper club. After a little convincing, Chance tells her that he’s in.

At the Glam Club, Jeremy and Diane are doing some flirting, the outcome of which is him repeating his request that she come up with a way to prove her loyalty to him.

Later on, Diane meets up with Jack on the Crimson Lights patio and is confident that Jeremy is taking the bait and falling into her trap. She has come up with an idea for Jeremy’s loyalty test, and it’s finding a crime to commit. Jack tells her that he does not like the sound of this, but Diane assures him she can pull it off. She mentions that with success, Jeremy will be putty in her hands.

She says that she will need to steal something of very significant value and Jack offers to remove a few items from the Abbott safe. Diane declines, telling him that this would be too obvious because Jeremy could easily figure out that he was being set up. She says that she needs to steal from someone who would never under any circumstances help her.  Jack and her rule out Phyllis for being too much of a wild card, and Ashley, due to her being Jack’s sister would lack credibility.

So by process of elimination, Diane says Nikki is left as the only coven member she could steal from. Grinning, she says that since Nikki was partially responsible for bringing Jeremy to town,  as she says that Nikki deserves a little larceny coming her way.

Young & The Restless Update

Update written by Barbara

At the Glam Club, Ashley meets up with Phyllis, who has summoned her to tell her that Diane is back in Genoa City and never ran in fear of Jeremy. She also mentions that the situation with Diane is wreaking havoc with her relationship with her daughter. Summer no longer confides in her or trusts her after Diane has corrupted her.

Summer comes into the club, and when she interrupts Phyllis and Ashley’s conversation, Phyllis tells Summer that she is too hurt to speak with her at that point. Summer remains steadfast and after Ashley excuses herself, Phyllis asks Summer how she would like being treated like trash and not being believed, over and over again. Summer apologizes profusely and tries to make peace with her mother.

Daniel comes by the club and offers to get the three of them around of drinks, but Phyllis gets up, tells Summer she has a meeting anyplace but there, cannot continue their conversation and leaves. Summer then turns to Daniel and opens up to him, venting about how she is caught between her mother, Kyle and his mother. Daniel tells her that he’s always available to listen, but at the same time says that she never should have held back to begin with.

As much as she is upset with her mother for reaching out to Jeremy and letting him know Diane’s whereabouts, Summer lets Daniel know that Jeremy is a criminal and he would have tracked Diane down on his own anyway.

Summer continues her diatribe, telling her brother the kinds of the things she has been stuffing down just so she can go along with whatever Kyle wants, for the sake of their marriage. Daniel expresses concern about Summer lying in this manner.

Summer also mentions that she doesn’t know how much longer Kyle can turn a blind eye to the havoc Diane is creating before it starts to come between her and Kyle openly and seriously.

At the Abbott house, Jack is anxious and on edge about Diane’s plan to lure Jeremy into a false sense of security about her wanting to get back together with him. She asks Jack bluntly if he’s concerned that she won’t be able to pull it off … or that she will.

Jack tells her that he doesn’t think his feelings matter much, he is just uneasy about the whole situation. Diane strongly suggests to Jack that he put his personal feelings aside for the sake of making their plan work.

Diane mentions that she has to convince Jeremy he’s in control, that she is coming back to him freely. She says that in order to pull the whole plot off, she needs to return to the hotel.  Jack tells Diane that he does not want her returning there because it’s not safe with Jeremy living under the same roof.

Jack wants Diane to remain at the Abbott house, but when she is adamant about going back to the hotel, Jack reconsiders.

Kyle comes into the living room and joins Jack and Diane’s conversation. Diane tells Kyle that she wants Jeremy to think that she had been living in an apartment and moved out of it and back to the Grand Phoenix.

After Diane leaves the Abbott house, Jack and Kyle talk about how Phyllis has become extremely upset and when this happens, she’s a wildcard. Jack mentions to Kyle that he hopes that Summer can get her mother to see reason because Phyllis has a pattern of going to extremes, without thinking about the consequences.

At Devon’s penthouse, Abby arrives with Dominic so he can spend time with Devon. Tucker comes by asking for another visit with Dom. Abby agrees to it, but adds that she wants to be present during the visit. Tucker is happy to be spending time with Dom, particularly because Abby and Devon are going to be in each other’s lives forever, due to their connection to Dom.

For Devon and Dom’s sakes, Abby struggles to be a little nice to Tucker before he has to go. After Tucker leaves, Devon thanks Abby for being willing to let Dom and his grandpa Tucker have bonding time. Devon and Abby agree that Dom can never have too much love.

Abby lets her guard down, telling Devon that things feel so uncomplicated and right when she is with him. He lets her know that he feels the same way about her. They lean in for a passionate kiss. Devon tells her that he wants her to stay and she tells him that the feeling is mutual. Clothes come off and they make love on the couch.

Tucker goes over to Diane’s hotel suite, knocks on the door, and with his voice disguised says it’s Jeremy. Before she even opens the door, he let’s her know it’s Tucker, When she opens the door, she greets him with “you’re a son of a bitch.”

Tucker looks around the room and says it looks like she’s packing because she got a suite of her own to move into at the Abbott house. Diane is quick to correct him that this is not the case, it’s the other way around, that she moved back into the hotel from the Abbott house.

Tucker tells Diane that he needs to know when Jeremy is leaving Genoa City. When Diane asks him why, Tucker says he has big plans and wants Jeremy gone so he won’t mess things up. Diane lets Tucker know that she is displeased with him telling things about Jeremy to Ashley, because this only fuels Ashley’s hatred for Diane.

Diane also says that she has lost Jack, but Tucker disagrees, telling her that she has Jack wrapped around her finger. Then he says that in fact, he could learn a thing or two from Diane.  As he gets ready to leave, he mentions that they could both get the Abbotts of their dreams.

Tucker then goes to Crimson Lights, where he comes upon an upset Phyllis, who’s at the counter where the cream and sugar are, leaving Amanda a long, sad voicemail. Tucker picks up on some of it and observes that Phyllis probably needs someone to talk to. At first, Phyllis blows him off, but he persists, letting her know that they don’t need to be friends in order to have a mutually beneficial relationship.

Meanwhile, Diane goes over to the Abbott house to let Jack know that she has moved back into her hotel suite and has unpacked her belongings. Kyle tells his mother that although he hates the plan the three of them are involved in, he’s got her back and offers to help however he can before heading upstairs to check on Harrison.

Jack tells Diane to feel free to rely on him and let her guard down whenever she needs to. Ashley comes into the house as Diane is hugging Jack and thanking him for his support. Ashley angrily confronts them, demanding to know what’s going on.

Phyllis: Hey.

Ashley: I came as soon as i got your message. What’s going on?

Phyllis: Diane’s back.

Ashley: Ugh! And I was hoping we were finally rid of her.

Phyllis: Mnh. She never really ran, by the way. That was just to cover so Jeremy Stark would leave town looking for her. And the worst part for me is my own daughter blew me off for Christmas so she could spend it with Diane and her husband so he could, you know, live out his childhood dreams with his mom.

Ashley: I am so sorry. That must have been very painful.

Phyllis: I’m not done. There’s more. Ashley, my daughter has always confided in me. She’s always trusted me before Diane corrupted her. And my daughter let everybody in town think that I was the one who chased Diana out of town, when, really, there was — i don’t know — a Jabot-sponsored motorcade bringing her up to the Abbott cabin.

Devon: Look at you. Look at this jacket. Look at your hat.

Abby: Ooh, I can get you one.

Devon: It’s very cute. Can you?

Abby: Mm-hmm.

Devon: I’d love that. Same size, please. I want to match this guy.

Nate: Good. I’m glad we discussed this. Is there anything else on your mind? Something that’s bothering you?

Victoria: Why would you think that?

Nate: Well, I feel like I’ve gotten to know you pretty well, and you haven’t seemed like your usual self since you walked in here. Would you like to talk about it?

Victoria: [Gasps]

Nate: Uh, tell you what. Let’s clock out for a bit. I can grab us two coffees from the break room, then the personal won’t encroach on the business.

Victoria: Okay, I’d like that.

************””*************************

Chelsea: This is what you’re gonna do. You go to Lily, you bring her a ton of flowers or — or, um, you play her her favorite song on your phone — anything to help make her listen.

Billy: Stop, please. Okay? This is not about me spending too much time with you.

Chelsea: Are you sure about that?

Billy: I am sure about that. It’s actually the one thing we agree on. And I knew that’s what your assumption would be, which is why I didn’t want to bring it up in the first place. So can you please just get that out of your head?

Chelsea: [Sighs] So, what happened? Why would Lily want to call it quits?

Billy: Because of me. Because of who I am, you know? I’m self-centered and I’m restless, and it’s the same reason why I quit the podcast, ’cause I thought I needed to focus on my corporate gig. But that didn’t work either. I’m just constantly in need of the next best thing, the next — next thing that’s gonna give me a rush to make me feel alive. It’s — it’s, you know — it’s who I am. It’s my track record. I am less than an ideal long-term partner.

Chelsea: I’m not gonna let you talk like this. Tearing yourself down. There is so much more to you. There’s a reason Lily loves you so much, and you love her. You two are great together. Are you really willing to just give up?

Sally: I know this is last-minute, but I really need to see the doctor right away. Yeah. Yeah, I’ll be there. Yeah. Thank you. Thank you. I’ll see you soon.

[ Sighs ]

Adam: Is everything okay?

[ Mug thuds ]

Abby: Good morning.

Devon: Hey.

Abby: Hi.

Devon: Good morning, pretty lady.

Abby: Ooh.

Abby: [ Laughs ]

Devon: I know. It’s very cute. I like when he walks around on those little padded mats until he tumbles over.

Abby: Yeah. Well, we should go together sometime.

Devon: Yeah, we will. Just thought you’d like to sleep in this morning since you probably never get to.

Abby: Thank you.

Devon: Yeah. How you feeling?

Abby: About last night?

Devon: Yes.

Abby: Um…good. Yeah, um… I mean, I guess I have to admit that I felt a little hint of guilt when I was walking down those stairs.

Devon: Well, we weren’t betraying anybody this time.

Abby: I know. It’s just, my divorce is so fresh, and…I mean, this is brand-new.

Devon: Yeah.

Abby: But when I look at you and I hear you talk about dominic… I know I’m in the right place. I feel happier and lighter than I have in a long time.

Devon: Well, I’m very happy to hear that ’cause I feel the exact same way.

Abby: [ Inhales deeply ]

Lily: Jill, I’m very excited. This is definitely the right move.

[ Chuckles ] Okay. Well, I will let devon and audra know, and I will chat with you later. Bye.

Audra: Sounds like good news.

Lily: Yep. Jill pulled the trigger. Moving forward with the ipo.

Audra: Excellent. We are back on track.

Lily: Yes. This is a huge step.

Audra: It certainly is. This is gonna be a huge success for all of us in unimaginable ways.

Lily: [ Chuckles ]

Kyle: I appreciate your dedication to the job, but there’s really no reason for you to be here. Maybe you should take a leave of absence until we’ve dealt with stark.

Diane: There is no place I’d rather be. I refuse to let him ruin every aspect of my amazing new life. Oh, good morning, summer.

Summer: Hi. We need to talk.

Ashley: Where are you going?

Jack: Upstairs. I need to get ready for work.

Ashley: Mm-hmm. You gonna ignore me like you did last night?

Jack: I didn’t ignore you.

Ashley: Yeah, you did. I wanted to talk to you about you and diane kissing, and you just kind of blew me off.

Jack: I didn’t have the time or the energy for it. The truth is, I don’t now. If you’ll excuse me…

Ashley: Please —

Jack: …I need to get to the office.

Ashley: Please don’t go anywhere until we have a chance to speak. Please?

Jack: It doesn’t make any sense, ash. I do not understand your continued vendetta against diana.

Ashley: And I don’t understand your complete denial of her history.

Devon: I do need to get to the office soon, but what do you have going on today?

Abby: Well, I have to meet noah at his club.

Devon: Yeah?

Abby: But first I have to go home and change because I can’t be seen in the same outfit two days in a row.

Devon: That’s very true. You’ll have the whole town talking about it. It would be shameful.

Abby: Well, I don’t know if it would be shameful, but i think people would think it was very weird.

Devon: [ Chuckles ]

Abby: So, yes, that means i have to go home.

Devon: Is there a problem with going home?

Abby: It doesn’t feel like home. I mean, it’s the chancellor mansion. I’m no longer a chancellor. I feel like I’m an intruder.

Devon: Yeah. No, I get that. I do. There’s a lot of changes happening right now. It’s gonna take a minute for people to adjust to it. That’s all. I think as long as we focus on dominic, though, and make sure that this transition is as painless as possible for him, we’ll be alright.

Abby: Yeah. I couldn’t agree more.

Devon: Yeah, but you can take things slow. Just decide what’s best for you and dominic and take one step at a time. You don’t have to rush into any of this.

Sally: What do you mean, “is everything okay?”

Adam: I don’t know where the confusion lies. Those are three pretty simple words.

Sally: Were you listening in on my call? ‘Cause I thought we came to the understanding that you were gonna butt out of my business. So, how much did you overhear?

Adam: I didn’t hear a word. I saw you huddled over here. It seemed like you were hiding from someone. Were you?

Sally: No. I just wanted some privacy.

Adam: Here at crimson lights? Yeah, sure. I mean, no one ever comes here, except the entire town.

Sally: Okay, well, I just needed my tea. I needed to make a call. My tea had the priority. So, you know, why don’t you just mind your own business?

Adam: Okay. Just worried about you, sally. You look tense and a little tired.

Sally: [ Scoffs ] Well, I didn’t ask for your opinion of my appearance.

Adam: Are you sure that you don’t need a sympathetic ear? I mean, maybe you would feel better if you told me what was keeping you up at night. What?

Sally: Don’t you really want to ask who is keeping me up at night?

Adam: I didn’t mean anything by it. And I’m certainly not asking who you’re sleeping with.

Sally: I don’t believe you.

Adam: Look, you said that we’re done. So we’re done. I get it. We’re both moving on from our halcyon days at newman media. Although I will always remember them fondly.

Sally: [ Inhales deeply ]

[ Clears throat ] You want to know what is keeping me up at night? It’s the idea of launching my own business. Starting from scratch is anxiety-inducing.

Adam: Yeah. It is. But I can’t wait to see what you come up with next. I know I could use some help with some interior design, so i can’t wait for you and chloe to open your doors.

Sally: Thank you.

Adam: Mm-hmm. I know whatever you put your mind to, it will be a success.

Sally: What are you up to?

Adam: What do you mean?

Sally: Well, you’re just being so nice and laying it on a little thick, even though that’s not really like you. So, what do you after?

Adam: [ Sighs ] Nothing. I’m sorry that I interrupted your morning, okay? I’ll be on my way.

Sally: [ Sighs ] Adam. Adam, wait. Look, I’m sorry, okay? I forget sometimes that you can be nice just to be nice.

Adam: [ Sighs ] Well, I have given you a lot of reasons to doubt my intentions.

Sally: Yeah. Well, we’ve been very civil lately, and I don’t want to lose that connection just because I’m in a mood this morning.

Adam: Well, you’re entitled to be in a mood whenever you want.

Sally: Yes, I know, but i shouldn’t take it out on you when you haven’t done anything wrong. I just have a lot on my plate right now. You know? Maybe a little too much.

Daniel: [ Sighs ]

[ Cellphone vibrating ]

[ Cellphone thuds ]

[ Sniffs, clears throat ]

Abby: Daniel?

Daniel: Abby.

Abby: Hi.

Daniel: God, don’t you look terrific.

Abby: Oh, my gosh! Thank you so much. Ah! It’s so good to see you. I heard you were back in town.

Daniel: Yeah. Yeah, I’m glad we ran into each other.

Abby: Yeah. Um, well, I’m supposed to meet noah, but I don’t see him, so maybe we could catch up if you’re not too busy?

Daniel: No. Yeah. No, not at all. And at this moment, I would actually welcome the intrusion. So, please have a seat.

Abby: Thanks.

Daniel: Mm-hmm.

Abby: So, I heard you’re working for chancellor-winters. How great is that?

Daniel: Yeah. Uh, I thought it was pretty impressive. But I guess it’s just a job, right?

Abby: Come on. It’s a huge responsibility. And you’re so creative. You’re gonna be terrific.

Daniel: Thank you. I am looking forward to just jumping into the deep end.

Abby: So, where are you saying?

Daniel: Downstairs, at the hotel.

Abby: You, heather, and lucy in a hotel indefinitely?

Daniel: Well, they aren’t with me right now.

Abby: Oh. When are they coming?

Daniel: You know, I can’t really answer that right now.

Lily: Okay, we definitely have to time this announcement properly because if we do it too early, then we risk losing momentum with the investors, or I think that we can open ourselves up to price manipulations.

Audra: Yeah, but too late, and we might not be able to generate any momentum at all.

Lily: Yeah.

Audra: I’ll run the numbers and find the optimal day to make the announcement.

Lily: I have no doubt that you will.

[ Laughs ]

Devon: Hello.

Lily: Hey.

Devon: Hey, hey. What do you guys seem excited about?

Lily: Well, jill is ready to move forward with the ipo. It’s happening.

[ Laughs ]

Devon: It’s happening. It’s happening without me having a say?

Lily: What are you talking about? You knew about this plan all along.

Devon: I knew about your plan. It’s not my plan.

[ Cellphone chimes ] What’s that?

Audra: Oh, it’s just, um, a text. Sorry. I will mute it. I’m actually gonna step outside and give you two the room.

Lily: Devon, you knew this ipo was happening all along. I mean, this is not some secret meeting that jill and I had. We had a call scheduled, and we chatted about it and decided this is what’s best for the company.

Devon: Yeah, but you made that decision without me.

Lily: No one is trying to exclude you. So, look, if you want, call jill and ask her some questions. But I’m sorry. I’ve heard your argument about keeping the company private, and I don’t agree. I don’t understand why you want to limit the growth and success of chancellor-winters.

Kyle: Sorry we’re late. I wanted to take my mother to breakfast someplace off the beaten path where we wouldn’t have to worry about stark seeing us before I came in, and she insisted on coming into the office, too.

Diane: What can I say? I love my job.

Kyle: So, uh, what did you want to talk about?

Summer: You know what? It was, uh, nothing urgent. Mariah just wanted me to remind you about that, uh, personal time that she’s taking off.

Kyle: Oh, right. Uh, she and tessa are traveling to meet a potential birth mother.

Diane: Ah, that is so wonderful. They must be so excited. I’m sure they are going to make amazing mothers.

Summer: You barely even know them.

Diane: But we work together. And I saw how special their bond was at tessa’s photo shoot.

Summer: I have to pull some files from jack’s office. Excuse me.

[ Cellphone vibrating ]

Diane: Hello, jeremy. Why give your family just any eggs

Diane: Why don’t I make the arrangements, and then I’ll text you the time and place? Okay. See you soon.

Kyle: What did he want?

Diane: He wants to meet tonight.

Kyle: So, is this how it’s gonna be? You’re at his beck and call like a servant?

Diane: Kyle, we discussed this. I’m the one who’s working him. This is all part of my plan.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] I need to tell dad.

Diane: No, no, no. I appreciate your concern, but, please, I don’t want jack following me like he did last time. I can do this on my own.

Abby: I heard you were in town, and I just assumed that heather and lucy were with you. I’m — I’m sorry.

Daniel: There’s no need for you to apologize. It’s just uncertain when they’ll get here.

Abby: Yeah, I’m sure they’re busy with work and school. But, hey, in the meantime, if you want to meet the happiest baby in the world, I would love to introduce you to dominic.

Daniel: Well, I’d love to meet him. I miss that age, you know? It goes by too quickly.

Abby: It’s the best. You know, he’s not even 2 yet, and I find myself feeling nostalgic about things he did last year. But, um, maybe it’s more than just dominic. I don’t know if you heard, but, um, chance and I — we split up.

Daniel: Oh. No. I’m sorry.

Abby: Yeah, we tried to make it work, but I guess it was just inevitable. So now I am trying to just appreciate the time that we had together and just move forward.

Daniel: Speaking of moving forward, um, I actually have to meet with lily.

Abby: Oh.

Daniel: I’m really glad we ran into each other. You know, we’re gonna have to get together soon, catch up a little bit more. And I’d love to meet dominic. Um…you have an amazing day.

Abby: You too. Bye.

[ Sighs ]

Ashley: What do you have to say, jack? Just spit it out.

Jack: Oh, I think you know. I didn’t imagine you and tucker kissing outside the front door

Ashley: Oh, so what? You have no idea what’s going on with tucker and me.

Jack: And you have no idea what’s going on with diane because you’ve made no effort to understand her. You and your allies have been small and petty and mean, and your hatred for her has no foundation.

Ashley: I disagree. If there’s anything in the known universe that has a foundation, it’s my hatred for diane. Sorry.

Jack: No, you hate the old diane. She has changed.

Ashley: “Changed.”

Jack: I have been trying to tell you this for months.

Ashley: Okay, just settle down, alright? When has diane ever been overtly evil? Not often, right? I mean, she’s subtle. She’s charming. She can act like she’s your best friend and then turn around and kick your legs out from under you. She’s sneaky and manipulative, and she hasn’t changed, jack. For whatever reason, you have bought this “poor, helpless me” routine of hers. And the one thing you know — diane has never been and will never be helpless.

Audra: What do you want?

Tucker: I want to know when or if this chancellor-winters ipo is actually gonna happen. Snails move faster than this public offering.

Audra: Don’t blame me for that.

Tucker: Who else is responsible? I literally gave you one job.

Audra: So let me do it. Okay? I was in the middle of a meeting about it when you texted me, demanding I come see you right away.

Tucker: Alright. Then how’s it going?

Audra: Jill and lily — you know, they want to get the ball rolling, but your son, devon, seems determined to fight them on it.

Tucker: Okay, so, you —

[ Sighs ] Then you convince him that it’s a good idea.

Audra: I’m not sure I can. You know, everything that happened with nate has made him paranoid, and you and I both know he’s right.

Tucker: No, he’s not! What I am doing is in his best interest.

Audra: Okay, then —

Tucker: No, audra. I am going to work side by side with my son. That’s all I want. Do you understand that?

Audra: Then maybe you take his frame of mind into account and come up with another way to make that happen. In the meantime, I’m gonna get back to that office, you know, before devon and lily get suspicious about why their ipo expert decided to disappear in the middle of an important conversation!

[ Door slams ]

Devon: Lily, you know that I’ve never supported this ipo move — because we’d be giving up too much autonomy. The whole reason that we merged our companies together is so we can run a corporation as a family. And if we go public, yeah, we’re gonna be making more money, but we’re not gonna be able to be making the decisions that matter for our company. And that’s not worth it to me.

Lily: Devon, if we sell stock, we could double or triple our valuation.

Devon: The company is doing fine. We’re making money, okay? That’s not the most important thing. And, yes, I know nate is gone, but what he almost put us through is exactly the kind of thing that can happen to companies when they go public. So, what happened to us taking time and waiting to make this decision?

Lily: Because sooner is better, and jill and I want to move forward with this. And her vote is equal to both of ours. And I agree with her. So, I’m sorry, but she and i have the majority.

Devon: Is that right? Well, then why even ask my opinion in the first place? Hell.

Lily: Look, if you can provide some legitimate reason as to why you want to stop this, then we will listen. But right now, all you have is some general vague concern. And I’m sorry, but it’s not enough.

Devon: It’s not vague. It’s not vague. And I’m never gonna support this move. It’s as simple as that.

Lily: Nothing about this is simple, okay? There are a lot of moving parts, and I really hope that I will have your support because i don’t have nate and I don’t have billy. But if I have to walk this path alone, then I will.

Devon: Cool. Then I guess I will be spending my time finding a legitimate reason to stop you from making this move.

Lily: Okay, well, you are welcome to it. But I actually have a lot of work I have to get done.

[ Sighs ]

[ Pen clatters ]

Adam: Come on. I’m a good listener. You can tell me anything, whatever’s on your mind.

Sally: I would love to. But I’m just not sure.

Adam: What does that mean? What exactly aren’t you sure about?

Sally: Anything. You know, at this moment, I’m — I’m just not sure about anything. It just always seems like things are so difficult for me. And, yeah, maybe that’s my own fault and I create my own problems, but — I don’t know — once, just once I would love for things to be cut and dried. You know, “here’s a problem? “Oh, yeah. There’s an easy solution.”

Adam: Well, I can’t pretend to know what you’re talking about, but I think I’ve seen you in enough difficult situations to know that you’ll figure it out. You know? I’m sorry that you’re feeling overwhelmed. You really do deserve a break. But by the same token, you can handle anything.

Sally: Why are you being so nice to me?

Adam: I think you know. When a cold comes on strong,

“The young and the restless”

will continue. Meet febreze’s miracle spray:

Sally: I have no idea why you’re being so nice to me. What is your angle?

Adam: Sally, there’s no angle.

Sally: Okay, then what did you mean by “you should know”? What is it that I’m supposed to know?

Adam: [ Sighs ] All I meant was you will always be very special to me. We have a connection.

Sally: That’s it? For real?

Adam: Yes. What more could there be? And I meant what I said by having a sympathetic ear. It wasn’t that long ago that you and I — we could discuss anything. So, if you ever need anyone to talk to you, just give me a call.

Sally: Okay. Yeah, I’ll think about that. Oh, I — I have to go to this appointment. Adam. Thank you.

Kyle: I know this is part of your plan, but I don’t like the idea of you going on a date with a criminal like stark.

Diane: It’s not a date.

Kyle: Okay, well, whatever you want to call this meeting. Dad and I should be close by, just in case. You know, in fact, at the risk of sounding overprotective, dad and I should be dealing with this, not you.

Diane: [ Sighs ] Look, I can take care of myself. I am as tough and wily as people have accused me of being. I just don’t have to use those skills as much these days, but i haven’t lost my touch. Believe me, I’ve got this under control.

Devon: Hey, man. Is abby here yet? No? Thank you.

Tucker: Hey. Devon.

Devon: Hey.

Tucker: How are you?

Devon: Alright. How you doing, man?

Tucker: Were you taking your phone out to call me to invite me to breakfast?

Devon: [ Chuckling ] Yeah. Yes, I was. How’d you guess? Beat me to it.

Tucker: You okay? You seem like you’re carrying some stress.

Devon: Oh, yeah? Well, that’s, uh — that’s a good eye you got. I’m just, uh, dealing with this ipo thing at work. It’s got me reconsidering the chancellor-winters merger altogether. That’s all.

Tucker: Oh. Well, sit down. Sit down.

Devon: Sure.

Tucker: So, what’s going on? What’s the problem?

Devon: Uh… I don’t really want to get into it too deep with you, but, um, I just — I lost some autonomy in the merger, and I’m set to lose even more the way things are headed.

Tucker: Right.

Devon: I’ll be lucky to have a say my own company.

Tucker: Yeah. I know that feeling. ‘Cause you want to grow the company, but you have to give up some control to do it, right?

Devon: Absolutely.

Tucker: Yeah. Which doesn’t seem quite fair in this instance because you and neil built it.

Devon: Yeah. Yeah. That’s exactly how I feel.

Tucker: Well, if it’s such a concern for you, maybe you should consider taking hamilton-winters back from chancellor and run the business on your own again. I know somebody who could help you. Okay everyone, our mission is complete balanced nutrition.

Devon: Yeah, no, I said this before. I don’t want you getting involved with my business, tucker.

Tucker: No, no, no, no, no. Please don’t misinterpret me. I’m not trying to stick my nose where it doesn’t belong. You certainly have the resources to reacquire the company on your own. Uh, in fact, all you’d —

[ Sighs, chuckles ] Listen to me. I’m sticking my nose where it doesn’t belong. Sorry. I just want to help.

Devon: I know you do. I appreciate you wanting to help, but I’m not looking for advice on this.

Tucker: Understood. It’s just that I haven’t always been there for you, and since this is my area of expertise, i thought the least I could do is counsel you. But, you know, you’re an astute businessman in your own right. You don’t need to listen to other people. At the same time [Chuckles] This is the issue we’re discussing currently. You want autonomy and you want to be in control of your destiny. You should not be constricted by what other people want. At the same time, you need to realize it’s okay to go after what you want. And I just might be the guy to help you do that.

Abby: [ Sighs ]

[ Sighs ]

Lily: Daniel. Hi.

Daniel: Hey. How are you doing? Um, I haven’t talked to you since new year’S.

Lily: Uh, I’m fine. Just, you know, been busy. Hoping 2023 will be a good year. How are you feeling?

Daniel: I’m great.

Lily: Are you sure?

Daniel: Yeah. I mean, you know, I couldn’t be better.

[ Chuckles ]

Lily: Okay. Come on. I saw your face when I first walked in, and then when you saw me, you kind of threw this big smile on.

Daniel: Maybe I was waiting for you to arrive to cheer me up.

Lily: Okay. What’s going on? What is it? Is it the press release?

Daniel: No. God, no. The press release is fantastic, but…

Lily: But what?

Daniel: It’s not important. You know, you have bigger concerns.

Lily: Oh, come on. Really? Not important? After everything that we’ve been through together, I mean, if you can’t trust me to tell me what’s going on, then who can you trust?

Daniel: I do trust you. I do. I just don’t want you to judge me.

Lily: Daniel, I would never do that.

Daniel: [ Inhales sharply ] Alright. Alright. Back in savannah, I made some mistakes. I didn’t respect heather as a strong woman who was capable of making her own decisions. Some of that trickled down to lucy, too. You can say there was a lot of jealousy and insecurity on my part.

Lily: That doesn’t sound like you.

Daniel: Well, I was going through a rough patch career-wise, and — [ Chuckles ] I mean, saying that I handled it badly is an understatement. And I — I pushed them away. And I’m genuinely ashamed about it. And here I am — I’m running around trying to hide it from everyone all the time while I’m just trying to get back on solid ground. But now you and devon — you’ve put me there. I mean, you have no idea how good it feels to be working on something worthwhile and lucrative. And — and it’s my hope that maybe this will show the two women in my life that I’m not a lost cause.

Jack: You know what? You believe what you want to believe.

Ashley: Well, I believe that you have brought diane’s “poor me” act.

Jack: It is not “poor me.” I have seen the fear in her eyes. She is genuinely afraid of what jeremy stark will do to her. I know you find that silly. I have sat with this man. I concur with her. He’s a dangerous man. So I have decided, yes, to protect my son’s mother, to protect my family.

Ashley: Okay, so, years ago, diane chose to double-cross a dangerous criminal, and now our family is in danger. Are you hearing this? And diane is now using the situation to embed herself into our family and into our home and into your bed. And maybe that’s the whole point of this.

Jack: If you are so indignant about who I entertain in my home, maybe you should stay elsewhere.

Ashley: [ Sighs ] Listen, I’m done settling. Because this is my secret.

Ashley: So, this is what it’s come to, huh? I’m being forced from the family home? I’m not giving an inch to diane. I belong here as much as you do. It’s my house, too.

Jack: No one’s throwing you out of the house. I’m just saying if diane’s presence here is so abhorrent —

Ashley: I am not being forced out because of your sick fixation on diane, jack. And you know what else? You might be ceo, but jabot belongs to me, too! And you wanted her to work there? I never got a vote. I’m laying it out there. Diane jenkins will never, ever be welcome in our home or in that company! Do you understand me?! Not ever.

Kyle: Hey. What’s wrong?

Summer: What do you mean?

Kyle: Well, it was pretty clear that when you said you wanted to talk, it wasn’t about mariah’s personal time. Given how frosty you were with my mom, I assumed it was about her.

Summer: It was.

Kyle: Well, we should discuss whatever it is that’s troubling you.

Summer: I agree.

[ Sighs ] Look, things are getting really tense around here. And with stark still out there as a constant threat, I’m scared. I need a break from genoa city.

Kyle: What are you — what are you talking about?

Summer: There’s a textile show in paris, and I think i should go.

Kyle: Yeah, th-that might be a good idea.

Summer: I want to take harrison with me.

Sally: [ Sighing ]

[ Sighs heavily ] What am I gonna do now?

Lily: Daniel, no one thinks that you’re a lost cause.

Daniel: Hmm. You didn’t see the look on heather and lucy’s faces when they left for europe. It’s gonna take a long time to fix my family life.

Lily: Well, you know what? I mean, there is nothing in your contract that says that you have to be in genoa city. You can work from anywhere. So, if you want, go back to savannah or join them in portugal. I mean, I think, you know, keeping your family together has to be your top priority.

Daniel: Yeah. No, of course. I mean, it’s — it’s my goal, but I feel like if I split my focus, I’m gonna wind up doing a half-assed job on both fronts. I got to do this the right way, one step at a time. Otherwise, I might never get any aspect of my life back on track.

Lily: Daniel, I’m so sorry.

Daniel: Mnh-mnh. No. No. Lily, please do not look at me like that.

Lily: [ Sighs ]

Daniel: It seems like everyone these days is looking at me that way, and, I mean, I’m getting better. I’m gonna be okay.

Lily: Okay. Just know that I’m here if you need anything, alright?

Daniel: I really appreciate it.

Lily: Okay.

Daniel: You have somewhere you need to be?

Lily: Um, yeah. I, uh — I have an appointment, so I have to go. Otherwise, I would chat all morning.

Daniel: You seem a little nervous. You expecting bad news or something? I mean, should I be the one who’s worried about you?

Lily: No, no, no. I’m fine, just, um, a little anxious, uh… but listen — I have enormous faith in you, okay? Otherwise, we would have never brought you on. And know that you are not a lost cause, okay? Bye.

[ Cellphone pings ]

Devon: Yeah, I’m definitely gonna take some time and think about what you said. I’d still like to try and figure this all out on my own, though.

Tucker: Sure. That’s prudent.

Devon: You definitely do have a point. And I know you know what you’re talking about, so…

Tucker: Consider it.

Devon: I will. I will. I’m glad I, uh, ran into you.

Tucker: Yeah, me too, son.

Devon: Appreciate the insight.

Tucker: Oh, of course. Anytime.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Devon: That’s a unique chime.

Tucker: Yeah, I know. It came with the phone.

Devon: Did it?

Tucker: Please stay in touch, huh?

Devon: Yeah, I sure will.

Tucker: Okay. See you.

Devon: Hey. I need you to find out as much information as you can about a connection between tucker mccall and audra charles. Alright. Thank you.

Recap written by Eva

Abby tells Devon that she hasn’t felt so happy in a long time but she does feel guilty about living in the Chancellor Mansion when she isn’t a Chancellor anymore. Devon thinks Abby should take some time to decide what is right for her and Dominic.

Abby sees Daniel at the Grand Phoenix and they catch up on their lives. Abby tells Daniel that she and Chance have gotten a divorce. Daniel has to leave for a meeting, and when Abby is alone, she takes off her wedding ring.

Daniel talks to Lily and tells her that his relationship with Heather is in trouble and he is hoping that when he launches this gaming platform that Heather will see that he is getting his life back on track and give him another chance.

Ashley and Jack have an argument about Diane. Ashley tells Jack she doesn’t trust Diane and will never accept her in the family or at Jabot.

Diane tells Kyle that she can handle Jeremy on her own and she doesn’t want to put him and Jack in danger. Diane asks Kyle to trust her because she will do this alone.

Summer asks Kyle if she can take Harrison with her to Paris for a textile show because she needs a break from all the tension.

Devon and Lily argue because she and Jill want to take the company public and Devon wants to keep the company private. Lily tells Devon he needs to give her a legitimate reason why they shouldn’t take the company public.

Aura gets a text message from Tucker with a unique text message tone. Aura walks out of the meeting with Devon and Lily telling them that she needs to tend to the message. Devon later sees Tucker at Society and Tucker thinks Devon should consider buying Hamilton Winters back from Chancellor Industries. Devon gets up to leave just after telling Tucker he will think about the idea. Tucker gets a text message with the same text message alert tone that Devon heard Audra get earlier at the Chancellor Winters office. Once Devon says goodbye to Tucker and walks outside he calls a private investigator and asks the investigator to see if there is a connection between Tucker McCall and Audra Charles.

Young & The Restless Update

Y&R logo

Update written by Barbara

At Crimson Lights, Sally is on the phone making an Obstetrician doctor’s appointment when Adam comes in. Sally is concerned that he overheard her conversation, but he tells her that he did not and just wants to make sure she’s okay. He mentions that she was huddled over and it looked like she was hiding from someone.

In a sullen mood, Sally tells Adam to mind his own business and continues to snap at him while he is trying to be supportive. Adam realizes that Sally is not going to open up to him so he gets up and starts to leave the coffeehouse. At the same time, Sally realizes that she’s taking out her stress on him so she tells him to wait so she can apologize for taking out her bad mood on him. She mentions that she is overwhelmed by things with work.

When she gets back to her suite after her doctor’s appointment, she plops onto the couch and asks herself “what am I going to do now” and looks at the paper she got that has information on the first trimester of pregnancy.

At Devon’s penthouse, he is in the living room having coffee when Abby comes down the stairs from the bedroom. Abby mentions that she knows she’s in the right place. She tells him she feels happier and lighter than she has in a long time.  Devon says that he feels the same way.

Abby and Devon hug, with her mentioning that she has to go home to change her clothes because she can’t be seen in the same outfit for two days.  She also opens up to Devon about how she no longer considers the Chancellor mansion to be home anymore since she’s no longer part of the Chancellor family. She says that she feels like an intruder.

Over at Chancellor-Winters, Lily finishes up a phone call with Jill, and Audra is in at the office. Lily is excited that Jill has pulled the trigger on the IPO, so it will be a done deal soon. When Devon arrives, he says that he feels like he’s being excluded from his family company. He reiterates that he does not support Lily and Audra’s decision to forge ahead with the IPO.

Audra’s phone makes a  chime for an incoming text, so she steps out of the office to give Devon and Lily some privacy.  Lily tells Devon that she and Jill are on the same side, which gives them the majority over Devon. She also mentions that unless Devon can find a valid reason why the IPO should not go forward, she considers it best for their company.

At the Glam Club, Daniel is sitting on a sofa, reading a text from Heather. She is letting him know that she is happy for him, but Lucy needs more time. Afterward, Abby comes into the club and chats with Daniel. She notes that his family isn’t with him in Genoa City, and he feigns uncertainty about when this will change.  Abby lets him know about her split with Chance.

Daniel leaves for a meeting and Abby sits alone, looking sad and pensive as she removes her wedding ring and looks at her bare finger.

Lily comes into Crimson Lights noting that Daniel seems troubled and down. He talks to her about Savannah and mistakes he made there, letting his jealousy and insecurity dominate. He admits that he shut Heather and Lucy out and hopes that his gaming venture will show that he is not a lost cause. Lily tells him that no one considers him a lost cause.

She gives him some encouragement, saying that there’s nothing in his contract that says he has to be in Genoa City. She adds that could go back to Savannah or to be with them in Portugal. She says that keeping his family together has to be his first priority. He’s concerned that if he splits his then he will do a “half ass” job on both fronts.

Lily tells him that she is here for him if he needs anything. Daniel says that he really appreciates it. When Lily glances down at her phone, he asks her if she has somewhere to be. She mentions that she has an appointment to go to or she would stay at the coffeehouse chatting with him all morning.  Daniel notices that she seems a litttle nervous. She dismisses it and says that she’s just a little anxious. As she heads to the coffeehouse door, she gets a text from Billy letting her know that he’s just parked at the “doc’s” office, and asking if she’s on her way.

Tucker has summoned Audra to his suite in the middle of her meeting with Lily so she arrives there angry at him. Tucker tells her that he needs the IPO to go through because he wants to have enough shares in the company to be able to work alongside his son. Audra lets him know that she is not sure she can convince Devon to accept the IPO because he’s paranoid, due to the situation with Nate. Tucker remains adamant about his plan to become a colleague with Devon.

Audra urges Tucker to consider Devon’s point of view and come up with another way to make the IPO happen. Then she beats a hasty retreat back to return to Chancellor-Winters so as not to raise any suspicions among Lily and Devon, slamming the door as she leaves Tucker’s suite.

At Chancellor-Winters, Devon and Lily argue about the financial merits of the company going public versus remaining the way it is.  She tells him that the company’s valuation will increase substantially by going public; Devon says that they’re making money with it being private and family-run.

At Jabot, Kyle and Diane are talking when she gets a call from Jeremy. She lets Kyle know that Jeremy wants to get together with her that night. Summer comes by asking to speak with Kyle, but seeing as how he is busy with his mother, Summer makes up an excuse to leave. She tells Kyle that she needs to talk to him later about Mariah’s brief leave of absence from Jabot to meet the potential birthmother.

Summer then says that she has to go into Jack’s office to get some files and while she’s in there she can hear Diane talking with Kyle about how Diane is as tough and wily as people have accused her of being. She assures Kyle that she still has her touch and she has everything under control.

When Kyle and Summer finally have some time together, he notes that Summer has been acting “frosty” to Diane. Summer tells him that the situation with Jeremy is scaring her and she wants to get a break from Genoa City by going to a textile show in Paris. Kyle is on board with this, and then Summer shocks him by announcing that she wants to take Harrison with her.

At the Abbott house, Jack and Ashley are having another heated argument, even stronger than previous ones, about Diane. Ashley accuses Diane of putting on a “poor me” act and trying to get herself into Jack’s bed.  An irate Jack shouts that if Ashley is so concerned about who he entertains in his home, maybe she should stay elsewhere. Ashley counters that it is her home too, so Jack hastens to let her know that he is not throwing her out.

Ashley goes on, yelling at Jack about how she will not be forced out of her own home because of his “sick fixation” on Diane. Taking things one step further, Ashley angrily reminds Jack that she has not been on board with Diane working at Marchetti under the Jabot umbrella, and mentions that she was never consulted about it.

Ashley finishes her argument with Jack by telling him that as far as she’s concerned, Diane will never be welcome in the Abbott home or the family company … “not ever”!

Tucker is at Society having coffee when Devon walks in and Tucker picks up on his son being upset. He asks what the issue is and Devon mentions that it’s about the Chancellor-Winters IPO and his concerns about losing autonomy. Tucker notes that this seems unfair because he and Neil built it. He suggests that Devon should could take Hamilton-Winters back from Chancellor-Winters, and run the business on his own again.

Tucker mentions that Devon has the resources to re-aquire the company and run it on his own. Tucker urges Devon not to let other people control his destiny and tells Devon that he shouldn’t be restricted by what other people want.  He mentions that it is certainly okay for Devon to go after what he wants. He adds that he just might be the guy to help him do that.

Devon says he will think about it and consider what Tucker has said to him as Tucker’s phone rings. Devon comments that the phone has a unique chime and doesn’t let on to Tucker that he recognizes it.  Tucker blows this off by chuckling and telling Devon that it came with the phone.

Once Devon is outside Society, he calls someone and tells the person to find out out as much information as possible about a connection between Tucker McCall and Audra Charles.

Transcript provided by Suzanne

Daniel: I can’t tell you how great it was to see you spending the holiday together. It’s — it’s just what I needed.

Danny: It meant a lot to me, too. Before I go, a little fatherly observation.

Daniel: Lay it on me.

Danny: You’re going through a really tough time with heather and lucy. But you owned your mistakes. You realized you had to pull yourself together. And I think, now focusing on your daughter, that’ll help carry you through. And I say this from personal experience, I think, because the most powerful motivator of all is the desire to do right by your child.

Daniel: There’s nothing i wouldn’t do for lucy.

Danny: I’m proud of you. Not just for what you’re doing but for the man you’re determined to be.

Daniel: Thank you. You know, no one inspires me the way you do. And I am very excited that we’re gonna be working together.

Danny: The feeling is mutual.

Daniel: [ Chuckles ] Can’t wait to hear what you come up with for my “finding princess louisa” game.

Danny: And I can’t wait to hear it myself.

Daniel: Mm.

Danny: I’m gonna get back and I’m gonna start recording right away. Now, listen, I welcome any notes you might have. I mean, I may be the musician, but this is your show.

Daniel: I appreciate that. Something tells me it’s gonna be a great collaboration. Communication is key, right?

Danny: Right. Glad to hear you say that, because there’s something I need from you.

Daniel: Yeah. Name it.

Danny: Promise me that you won’t bottle up your feelings when it comes to your family again. Right? You call me. Better yet, just come visit. I’m always there for you.

Daniel: You have my word.

Daniel: You have got a lot of work to do, and I’ve got to hit the road soon, so I’m not gonna say goodbye. Just…see you soon? Come here. I love you, daniel.

Daniel: I love you, too, dad.

Danny: [ Sighs ]

[ Sniffles ]

Daniel: [ Sighs ]

Danny: [ Sighs ]

Mariah: I cannot believe that this is happening.

Tessa: Want me to show you the plane tickets again?

Mariah: Thank you for getting on that, by the way.

Tessa: Good thing I booked everything, ’cause we will be flying out in a few short hours.

Mariah: And then, tomorrow, we will meet delphine face-to-face and show her why we are the ideal parents to adopt her baby.

Sharon: Well, I am so glad she got back in touch with you, even though I know it took longer than you expected.

Mariah: I know that I’m not supposed to let my feelings run away with me, but I’m just gonna say it. Meeting this woman tomorrow could change our lives.

[ Door opens ]

[ Footsteps approaching ]

Christine: Danny.

Danny: Cricket?

[ Chuckles ]

Nate: That takes care of the updates to our development slate. Next up, social-media campaigns. I know nick had some thoughts on the budget, if you’d prefer to wait until he’s available.

Victoria: Oh, he knew we were meeting, and he chose not to come, so I’m not inclined to accommodate his personal schedule.

Nate: Look, uh, I don’t mean to overstep, but I know nick wasn’t too thrilled when you hired me. I’m sure he would have preferred to keep sally in this position.

Victoria: Well, none of that matters. It was not his decision to make.

Nate: Even so, is my being here causing conflict between you two? And if so, is there anything I can do to help?

Lily: Nick. Happy new year.

Nick: You too. It’s great to see you.

Lily: How was your holiday?

Nick: Pretty great, actually. How was yours?

Lily: Uh, it was fine. Just, you know, kept it low-key.

Nick: I was just wrapping up a lunch meeting here. Are you meeting someone right now, or do you have a minute to talk?

Lily: Um, yeah, sure. What’s, uh, on your mind?

Nick: Well, I was hoping we could finally get a chance to talk about nate joining newman media. Like chancellor-winters, newman is a family-run business. It can be volatile at times, working so closely with the people who can push your buttons the most. They can say that it’s just business, but it’s difficult to not take it personally sometimes. I guess what I’m trying to get at is, I wanted to apologize specifically to you on behalf of newman enterprises if it had any part whatsoever in your family’s conflict.

[ Door closes ]

Chelsea: I didn’t expect to see you.

Billy: Uh, yeah, I have some important business.

Chelsea: Oh?

Billy: I want to find out how connor’s project went at school.

Chelsea: Well, connor’s not home yet.

Billy: Oh. Right.

Chelsea: But I highly doubt that’s the real reason you’re here.

provided by… doesn’t your family deserve the best?

Christine: I knew you were in town. I just didn’t know if we’d cross paths.

Danny: Talk about timing. I was just about to call you.

Christine: You were?

Danny: I wasn’t sure if you were still away. And I — I just wanted to at least say hello.

Christine: Well, [Chuckles] Paul and I got back last night. How long are you staying?

Danny: I leave today.

Christine: Uh…

Christine: Um, I’m — I’m meeting sharon’s daughter, mariah, and her wife, tessa. They’re adopting a child. I’m helping them navigate the process.

Danny: Oh, that sounds incredibly rewarding.

Christine: Yeah, they’re great, and they’re gonna be amazing parents. Mariah and tessa have a tremendous amount to offer a child.

Danny: Plus, any kid would be lucky to have sharon as a grandmother.

Christine: [ Chuckles ] Yeah, well, times like these, I’m glad I became a lawyer.

Danny: I entertain people for a couple hours, and you transform their lives.

Christine: Yeah. On a good day.

Danny: Yeah. Well, I, um — I don’t want to hold you up, so I…

Christine: I-if you don’t have to rush off, I don’t have to be anywhere afterwards.

Danny: I’ll be here when you’re done.

Christine: Okay.

Lily: Thank you. I really appreciate you saying that, because, yes, it was very shocking how everything went down.

Nick: Yeah, I was, uh, shocked, as well.

Lily: I mean, look, devon and I have no proof that it was newman that was trying to take over chancellor-winters or that it was victoria who was getting information from nate. But I think we all know what happened. And then, of course, you know, nate is now rewarded with a top spot at newman media.

Nick: [ Sighs ] I cannot confirm any of that.

Lily: Wow. You’re not denying it either. Look, I understand why you can’t say anything, but I can clearly tell that you had no part in it. And I thank you for that. Because, yes, it was a painful issue during a complicated time. A lot of people I thought I could rely on have let me down. But, um, you know, I roll with it because I have to. But it doesn’t change how much it hurts.

Nick: Are we talking about nate… or billy?

Billy: I’m not sure why you would doubt me. I’m deeply invested in the success of connor’s contraption. Never thought I’d care whether an egg would break or not, but I do.

Chelsea: Would you stop? I know something’s wrong.

Billy: I’m not sure why you would think that.

Chelsea: Well, for starters, you showed up, alone, downstairs on new year’s eve when you should have been with lily. There was a sadness in your eyes. It’s there now, too. So please stop pretending everything’s okay, when clearly it’s not.

Billy: I didn’t come here to burden you with my problems, chelsea.

Chelsea: Billy, you are not a burden after everything you’ve done for me. This can’t be a one-sided friendship. You have to be able to talk to me, or else I’m gonna feel like a pity case you only hang out with ’cause you feel sorry for me.

Billy: I don’t think that way about you.

Chelsea: I’m not gonna fall apart because you share your problems with me. Okay? Come on, I mean, you keep insisting that I’m — I’m so tough, I’m so strong. So let me support you the way you’ve been supporting me.

Billy: [ Sighs ] Okay, fine, since you insist. Lily thinks we might be done.

[ Inhales deeply ] Hey… it’s me! Your dry skin!

Victoria: You are a huge asset to this company. Full stop. Nothing beyond that matters.

Nate: I appreciate you saying that.

Victoria: Well, I’m simply stating the truth. And as far as nicholas goes, he shouldn’t be a problem, unless has he treated you unprofessionally since you had that prickly conversation when you first started? Or has he implied that he doesn’t want to work with you, moving forward?

Nate: No, no, not at all.

Victoria: That’s good. You know, I’m glad that my brother is back at the company. But when I put you at the helm of newman media, he should have stepped back. He shouldn’t have blended his work life and his personal life. But instead, he let his feelings overcome his objectivity.

Nate: Yeah. Kind of like devon and me. We each fell victim to the same mistake. But I won’t repeat that here.

Victoria: I know. I have utter confidence in you, nate.

Nate: And you and nick?

Victoria: We love and respect each other. We’re not always gonna be on the same page, but we will manage to get through this disagreement. We always do. We always have each other’s backs when it really matters.

Victoria: [ Gasps ]

Nate: Uh, tell you what. Let’s clock out for a bit. I can grab us two coffees from the break room, then the personal won’t encroach on the business.

Victoria: Okay, I’d like that.

Nate: [ Chuckles ]

Christine: I’ve spoken with the birth mom’s representative. Delphine has considered other couples. She’s doing her due diligence, but she hasn’t responded to anyone as enthusiastically as she did to your profile and that lovely letter you wrote.

Tessa: You are doing a lot of writing from now on.

Mariah: Well, hopefully, if everything falls into place, we won’t have to send another one.

Sharon: I love how you’ve made it a joint effort. You two make a great team.

Christine: And I second that. So, did I understand the voicemail right? Is tomorrow the day you’ll be in delphine’s hometown? Your first get-together?

Mariah: Yeah. My stomach is doing flip-flops all over the place.

Tessa: Yeah. I mean, yes, we all agree that this is just a meet-and-greet. It’s very casual, but, I mean, it’s so much more than that.

Tessa: Try, the most important interview of our entire lives. There’s so much at stake. We have to make a flawless first impression.

Tessa: I mean, this woman is deciding whether to entrust her baby to us. I mean, she’s gonna have a million questions.

Mariah: Who we are as a couple, where do we live, how are we planning to raise the child, because we both have demanding careers. And even if we nail all of the questions and delphine likes us, if there’s no chemistry, if we don’t form an emotional connection, then that’s it. And we’re back at square one.

Tessa: And it’s easy to say that we would be prepared for that, and that we’re managing our expectations, but in reality, it would hurt.

Christine: Just don’t get ahead of yourselves.

Sharon: Yeah, christine’s right. Remember what we talked about from the very beginning. Adoption is a process, it’s not an event. You need to take things one step at a time, right?

Christine: And just be yourselves. Answer her questions as honestly as you can, and maybe go there prepared with a few questions to ask her, so you feel like you’re on equal footing.

Sharon: That’s excellent advice.

Christine: Above all, speak from the heart, okay? Help her understand how strong your relationship is and what an amazing and loving, stable home you can provide with an incredibly supportive, extended family. You know, paint a picture of who you are and what life would be like together with the baby.

Danny: I’m danny romalotti.

Christine: I can’t believe it. It’s really you.

Danny: Well, you know, uh, I could say the same thing. I mean, you’re pretty much a very big celebrity in this town.

Christine: But not like you.

Danny: Are you kidding? Those jabot junior ads are my favorite.

Christine: You mean that?

Danny: Of course I mean it. What do you say we get better acquainted over a soda?

Christine: [ Chuckles ] Well, sure, I’d love to.

Danny: I don’t know how long I’ve loved you.

Christine: You don’t?

Danny: No. I was trying to remember the first time, the first day, the first moment I realized I was in love with you. And I can’T. I can’t, because I’ve always been in love with you.

[ Waves crashing ] I can’t imagine my life without you. I don’t even want to try.

Christine: I don’t either.

Danny: You’re really nervous, aren’t you?

Christine: A little. But I figure, hey, it’s a joint effort. Any screwups and you take half the blame.

Danny: Well, that’s what husbands are for, dear.

Christine: Well, no matter what happens, I know one thing’s for sure. I’m happier than I ever imagined.

Danny: So am I. It’s pretty sickening, isn’t it?

Christine: Completely.

Danny: Mmm.

[ Soft music plays ]

Danny: It was the last thing I expected to do.

Christine: What, destroy our marriage vows?

Danny: I paid for it.

Christine: No, danny, I paid. Your little slip turned into quite a fall, didn’t it? An innocent little backstage party. You got to drinking. And I bet phyllis was right there refilling your glass. Then, before you know it, off to bed. Well, now the two of you have a child together, and you’re stuck with her. And believe me, from everything I have seen of phyllis, the word “stuck” really fits.

Christine: Are you okay?

Danny: You know, some good has come of the past few months that you and paul have been apart. I realize how much he means to you.

Christine: He’s changed my life, danny. And I love him.

Danny: And he loves you.

[ Soft music plays ] I wish you the best.

Christine: Thank you.

Danny: All I’ve ever wanted was for you to be happy.

Danny: [ Sighs ]

[Coughing]

Victoria: You know, as much as I love being a mom — i really do — there are, you know, certain challenges that come up.

Nate: I have yet to be a parent. However, I was a child once and vividly remember some of my more colorful years.

Victoria: [ Chuckles ] I’ve already been through all of this with my older son, reed. I had some pretty turbulent times with him, but he’s doing good now. I mean, we’re in a really good place.

Nate: Good to hear.

Victoria: Meanwhile, [Sighs] Johnny is at that stage where it’s natural for him to want to pull away. But there are just these other complicated factors.

Nate: How complicated are we talking?

Victoria: Extremely complicated. And the situation — it’s a lot tougher than I ever anticipated it would be.

Chelsea: Billy, you have to fix things with lily. I am so sorry for taking up so much of your time, but it’s a terrible price you have to pay for helping me.

Billy: Chelsea, that’s not what this is.

Chelsea: [ Sighs ] So, what happened?

Lily: Why would you ask about billy?

Nick: You didn’t bring up his name when I asked you about your holidays. I know he recently quit as your ceo. You know, billy was my brother-in-law. I had a front-row seat to his and victoria’s relationship, so I have a pretty good sense of what it must be like and how challenging it is to get involved with someone like him.

Lily: Hmm. Yeah, I suppose you do know him pretty well.

Nick: So, uh, I’m more than willing to give you my perspective if you want. I could also just sit here and listen, because I get the feeling a friendly ear is what you could use right now.

Mariah: We know that this trip might not turn out like we hope. We know that it could not lead to us getting a child. We’re aware of everything that could go wrong.

Tessa: Because some of them have already.

Mariah: Yeah, exactly. But each step we take in this new journey, I think that eventually it’s gonna lead to our baby.

Christine: [ Sighs ] Well, I wish you the best.

[ Chuckles ] Let me know how it goes.

Tessa: We will.

Mariah: Yeah.

Sharon: You better get packed up. You don’t want to miss your flight.

Mariah: Yes. We have to get moving.

Tessa: Well, we will be in touch.

Christine: Alright.

Mariah: Alright. Bye.

Tessa: I’ll see you.

Christine: Bye.

Sharon: [ Sighs ] Thank you so much for shepherding them through this.

Christine: It is one of my favorite parts of the job — creating new families.

Sharon: Yeah. I remember that well.

Christine: Yeah. I mean, now it’s up to them and the prospective birth mom.

Sharon: I’ll be on pins and needles the whole time.

Christine: I know, waiting is the hardest part, for sure.

Sharon: I’m gonna get some work done, try to do anything to distract myself. Can I get you something?

Christine: No, no, no, I’m fine, but thank you.

Sharon: You’re welcome.

Christine: Thanks for waiting.

Danny: It was worth it to have some time with you. Flu symptoms hit harder than the common cold.

“The young and the restless”

will continue. Dry skin is sensitive skin, too.

Danny: I assume that you’re still glad to be in private practice.

Christine: Yeah. I like taking on cases that are meaningful to me. I mostly do pro bono work.

Danny: Putting good out into the world.

Christine: [ Chuckles ] Where I can.

Danny: Some things never change.

Christine: Well, like you and your flourishing career. Come on. Still making music and selling out shows?

Danny: I’ve been fortunate, to say the least. I’m — I’m really blessed to have some amazing fans.

Christine: Are you still enjoying touring as much as ever?

Danny: Yes, um, but it does have its downsides. I — I get it now, why being on the road so long isn’t for everyone. But I do enjoy traveling the world and visiting some of my favorite places, seeing new ones, meeting people. And gina flies out on occasions and, yeah, we get her onstage. She does a couple songs. Yeah, that’s always the best.

Christine: Gina’s doing well?

Danny: Yeah, she’s great. I spent thanksgiving with her, and christmas and new year’s with daniel, and, yeah, it’s — it’s turned out to be a really wonderful holiday season for me. I assume you know daniel’s back in town.

Christine: Yeah, I-I do. I haven’t seen him. Paul and I found out what happened from heather. So, you know, we’re just hoping that she and lucy and — and daniel are okay.

Danny: Yeah, so am I. Phyllis and I, we’ve been, you know, rallying around him and, yeah…

Christine: I know. I saw the photo. She tagged you, and that’s how I knew you were in town.

[ Chuckles ] Genoa city’s very own rock star returns for a limited time only, glad to spend time with the people he loves most.

Danny: Social media at its finest.

Christine: For daniel’s sake, I’m glad you’re all together. I just hadn’t realized that you and phyllis had stayed in such close touch over the years.

Billy: Look, it’s not like i just put my hands up and said, “okay, fine, we’re done. No problem,” alright? It’s not — not at all what I did, and I want to — I want to work on this, but I — it’s just not enough.

Chelsea: Okay, listen. You always want to paint yourself as this screwup who’s destined to fail. And right now, I’m sure you’re feeling a little defeated and maybe a little scared. But you are strong and you are loyal. And you are relentless when you want something. So go make this right.

Billy: I would love to. I really would, believe me. But I don’T… look, lily was very calm and rational when she laid out the reasons why we should take some time apart. And you know just as well as i do, you start having that conversation about taking a break, 9 times out of 10, it’s done. That is someone trying to let you down easy instead of making you feel like you just got dumped.

Chelsea: You don’t know that. Stop trying to convince yourself that you do.

[ Sighs ] What you need to do right now is go find lily right away and very calmly and rationally lay out all the reasons that you need to stay together. But not too calm. Hold your ground. Be as passionate and sincere as you know how to be. You helped me get my second chance. Now it’s time for you to go get yours.

Lily: Thank you for the offer, but I won’t be needing your ear, no matter how friendly it might be.

Nick: Fair enough. I got to get out of here anyway.

Lily: Well, I’m glad that we had a chance to chat.

Nick: Me too. Before I go, I just wanted to tell you how impressed I am with what you’ve done with chancellor-winters. Lily, you lead with integrity and dignity. And it’s not always easy to do in this business world we live in. I’m impressed. I’m proud of you.

Lily: Thank you. Thank you. That, um — that really means a lot coming from you.

Nick: Well, I think that there isn’t anything you can’t conquer. And I wish you all the best in the new year.

Lily: Same to you. Bye.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Billy: Can we meet? Your heart is the beat of life.

Danny: I wouldn’t say that phyllis and I are close. We’re more like teammates — you know, co-parents, grandparents. But you know how phyllis is. She always has to put a spin on things, making things appear shinier and brighter than they actually are.

Christine: Yeah, she always had an extraordinary talent for deceit and fabrication. We first saw that when she set her sights on you and injected herself into our lives.

Danny: I often… wonder… what my world might be like if phyllis summers had never been a part of my story. But then… I wouldn’t have daniel and lucy, and — and they’ve brought, um, such immense joy.

Christine: I know, you had to find a way to coexist with phyllis. I’m glad you got to that point.

Danny: It wasn’t easy.

Christine: I know.

Danny: Yeah.

Christine: Still, I will never forgive or forget what she did. Even after we were no longer together, she just kept coming after me. She literally almost cost me my life.

Danny: [ Sighs ] Hey, hey. I’m sorry for all the pain that phyllis caused you.

Christine: It’s not your fault. You were a victim, too. And look, we did our best to try and deal with the fallout of her actions.

[ Sighs ] I’m just glad we were able to — to move on and find happiness,

[Sighs] Even if we didn’t find it together.

Danny: [ Sighs ] Last time we saw each other, I-I, uh — I think it was, um, at your wedding.

Christine: Yeah.

Danny: You and paul are going on, what, 10 years now?

Christine: Yeah. Good — good memory.

Danny: The big-time lawyer and the chief of police, one of genoa city’s power couples.

[ Chuckles ]

Christine: I don’t know about that, given the players in this town.

Danny: But you guys are good, right? I mean…

Christine: Yeah, we’re — we’re really good.

Danny: I know that you and paul always had this deep connection and you know…

[ Chuckles ] I — I’m — I’m really happy that things are going well for you. I am.

Christine: Oh, is there someone special in your life?

Danny: Uh… wow. Um, yeah, I, um…

[Clears throat] Yeah, I’ve been seeing someone. It’s, uh — it’s, you know — it’s casual. I mean, you know, given my schedule, I — I don’t really know where it’s going. I guess time will tell, but, uh, I guess my life is full right now. But there’s always room for a dear friend.

[ Sighs ]

Nate: I’m not going to ask you about the details, but I can tell you from my own personal experience that your son will always love, admire, and respect you, even if he doesn’t always show it.

Victoria: Well, that’s a very nice sentiment, but you can’t know that for sure.

Nate: Actually, I can, because I know you. You’re understanding, forgiving. And you never miss a trick.

[ Chuckles ] Now, johnny might not be too thrilled about that last part for the next few years, but he’ll know he can trust you to be his compass no matter what. That is a gift.

Victoria: [ Sighs ] Well, let me see. When you put it that way…

[ Chuckles ]

Nate: So give the young man some space. Not so much that you start feeling anxious about what’s going on with him, but enough to give him some independence and feel trusted. Assuming you don’t have a reason to not trust him.

Victoria: That’s not the problem.

Nate: Okay. Well, then, giving him some space may be the best way to keep him from drifting too far away.

Victoria: Thank you. Thank you for this. It helped.

Nate: Anytime.

Billy: [ Sighing ]

Billy: Hi.

Lily: Hi.

Billy: I know we’re supposed to give each other some breathing room, but I really wanted to see you. Thanks for coming.

Lily: Yeah, yeah. Um, what’s this about?

Billy: Well, um, I know you’re busy, so I’ll just get straight to the point. We may be struggling badly, but I feel like our relationship is worth saving. And I want you to know that I’m gonna fight for you. For us. For everything that we have. I get bladder leaks.

Christine: We do need to stay in better touch.

Danny: Absolutely do.

Christine: Well, maybe paul and I can come to one of your concerts the next time you’re in town.

Danny: That’s funny you’d say that. I, uh — I have a concert tour date in chicago later in the year, and I already promised tickets to traci, lauren, and michael. We could, uh, make it a party?

Christine: Yeah. Sounds like a plan.

Danny: [ Sighs ] I got to get going, or I’m gonna miss my flight. I just wish we had more time.

Christine: [ Chuckles ] Is that your way of asking me to take you to the airport?

Danny: Well, I would never want to impose. But you did say you were free. And I — I feel there’s so much more to talk about.

Christine: So do I.

[ Sighs ] Looks like you’ve got yourself a ride.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Connor: Pizza this week with johnny?

Chelsea: Connor just asked…

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Chelsea: Can I take johnny and connor for pizza one night this week?

Victoria: [ Sighs ]

Victoria: Johnny has too much homework. Sure. We’ll find a night that works for all.

Billy: I know I let you down. And our problems are more about my shortcomings than they are about us as a couple.

[ Sighs ] And I’m asking you for one more chance.

Lily: [ Sighs ] Anyway, I told you how I felt. You didn’t even put in the effort into trying to make things better. And I mean, that really hurt me. You know, it made me feel like my feelings didn’t matter to you.

Billy: I messed up, lily. And… I’m so sorry. And I’m going to do whatever it takes. I’ll go to couples therapy. I’ll go today. I’ll make an appointment today. Okay? I’ll do whatever I need to do, because I — I want to fight for our relationship. I want you with all my heart. We have come so far. We’ve been through so much. We can’t stop trying now.

Lily: [ Sighs ] You’re right.

[ Chuckles ] We owe it to ourselves to keep trying.

[ Sighs ]

Billy: [ Sighs ]

Lily: [ Sighs ]

Tucker: Ho, ho, ho.

Ashley: Well, you’re kind of late, aren’t you, Santa?

Tucker: [Sighs]

[Feet stomping] Hello.

[Door closes]

Ashley: Don’t you think this is a little much?

Tucker: Well, you know I like to go big.

Jack: Well, thank you for sparing us the helicopter this time.

Tucker: Oh, well, my sleigh is out front.

[Laughing] Hope you don’t mind my dropping by. I got presents for everyone in the family.

Ashley: Aww, that’s very generous of you.

Jack: And quite unnecessary.

Tucker: I realize that.

Jack: Well, we don’t have anything for you under our tree.

Tucker: I wouldn’t expect that. Uh, no, I just got a little caught up in the spirit of the season, you know, the joy in giving and not receiving and all that.

Traci: Well, thank you so much, Tucker, for the gifts. If you had hoped to hand-deliver something to Dominic, I’m sorry — [Chuckles] I’m sorry, but they’ve already gone.

Tucker: Oh, no, that’s okay. I’m gonna see Dominic later at DeVon’s. Um, which means my day is free. And I was hoping maybe you would agree to have lunch with me? Although I don’t want to impose on any Abbott family time here.

Ashley: Not at all. I mean, well, we’re having a very quiet Christmas, so… yeah, I would actually really like to get out of the house. Let’s go. Bye, you guys.

Tucker: Okay. See ya. Merry Christmas.

******************************

Tucker: I guess we should have called ahead.

Ashley: I should have known it was closed today, considering my daughter owns the place. I just assumed Abby was leaving the staff in charge, though.

Tucker: Let’s just go somewhere else.

Ashley: All the good places are probably booked, don’t you think? Uh, there might be another way, though, that we can have lunch here.

Tucker: Should we break in?

Ashley: Oh, good idea. No. I think —

[Keys jangle] I think I’ve got a key. Abby gave it to me in case of an emergency, and I don’t think she’d mind if we use the kitchen if we promise to clean up.

Tucker: Aren’t you full of surprises.

Ashley: Yes. I keep you on your toes.

Tucker: Yes, you do.

[Keys jangling]

Ashley: [Gasps] Yay! My most important kitchen tool?

Chelsea: I think you’re on the right track! Keep at it.

Connor: Trying to save eggs from breaking is a lame way to spend New Year’s Eve. Can’t I just use the one in the closet?

Chelsea: How did you know about that?

Connor: I was looking for more bubble wrap, and there it was — a completely done egg-drop device. I figured you’d made it in case mine didn’t work.

Chelsea: Wrong. Billy and I just got carried away playing with the art supplies and were testing out your new project. You will be handing in your own schoolwork.

Connor: Fine. Be that way.

Chelsea: [Laughing] You’ll thank me later.

Traci: Okay. Here. We’ll get you one of these, too, okay?

Danny: Oh, please.

Traci: [Laughs] Oh, my gosh. There we go. So, how long are you here for?

Danny: Uh, well, I’m afraid it’s a short visit between tour dates, yeah. In fact, I’m staying here and just came down to grab a glass of champagne for New Year’s Eve.

Traci: I am so glad you did.

Danny: You look fabulous.

Traci: [Laughs]

Danny: Tell me. Alright, come on. How’s life treating you? I want to know everything. Don’t hold back.

Traci: Oh!

Danny: You’re holding back. Come on!

Traci: No, I’m just —

Danny: What?

Traci: I’m just marveling at you, at us, how we just sort of fall back into sync, just like we always did, you know?

Lauren: Wait a minute. What’s going on here? Are you two getting the band back together without me?

[Laughter]

Traci: Oh, my gosh! What are the chances?

Danny: We’ve been thinking about it

Nick: I wish I’d filmed that kid during Christmas. Did you see how hard Christian was trying to keep up with all the big kids?

Victoria: Yes, I did. From what I could tell, he did a fantastic job. You know when all the cousins get together, watch out.

Nick: After all the ice skating and snowball fights and the constant running around, by the time I got him home, he was talking to me — mid-sentence, he falls asleep.

Victoria: [Chuckling] You’re kidding me. Aw. Poor Christian.

Nick: Yeah. It’s like somebody unplugged him. He was totally done. I don’t think he moved an inch the rest of the night.

Victoria: Well, I’m very glad that he had a good time.

Nick: Yeah. We all did. Uh, Johnny and Connor were inseparable. Seems like that’s going well.

Victoria: I’m proud of the way that Johnny’s navigating the situation with Chelsea since she took it upon herself to disclose that she’s his biological mother.

Nick: I feel real good about my gift choice for you.

Sally: Oh. Good. Me too. You’re really gonna love your coffee mug. It’s got a really funny quote on it. I would tell you what it says, but I don’t want to ruin the surprise, you know?

Nick: Yeah. Okay. Well, I know you’re just gonna love your book of sudoku. I mean, it’s hours of entertainment.

Sally: Ooh. It’s snowing.

Nick: Wow.

Sally: [Chuckles]

Nick: Seems like, uh, perfect timing.

Adam: Hey. Can you stand some company?

Sally: It’s the holidays, and I’m feeling generous.

Adam: [Clears throat] So, remind me — which holiday did you celebrate while, um, the rest of us merrymakers were sipping our eggnog?

Victor: Hey, son. Good to see you. Have a seat. Gives me a chance to tell you how much I appreciated you and Connor coming by and spending time with us at Christmas.

Adam: Well, thank you for including us…

Victor: Yeah.

Adam: …And not being too overbearing with Chelsea and Connor.

Victor: [Chuckles] What? Your father overbearing? When the hell did that happen? And I promised you I’d behave, and I did, right

******”***********”*””””””””””””””””””””

Billy: Yeah, I know life can feel like it’s moving a million miles a minute, but you seem to be doing great on the outside. Is that true?

Chelsea: Having a safe space has made everything more tolerable for me. I have to be honest with you. Christmas at the ranch was a bit overwhelming, though, with all the Newmans and Adam. It felt like a collision of all my problems at once. And Victoria was there with Katie and Johnny. Before you ask, everything went great. It was fine. You know, Johnny and Connor are inseparable these days, and it’s wonderful.

Billy: Yeah, I agree. It’s great. I’m really proud of those boys. But you do seem to be glossing over the elephant in the room. Victor. I’ve been telling everyone…

Chelsea: Victor tried to be on his best behavior, but it was still very clear that he doesn’t trust me. But Adam was there, and he was by my side and very supportive, kept checking in, making sure I was okay.

Billy: Well, Victor doesn’t trust anyone, so it sounds like your visit went par for the course. However, I am grateful that Adam was watching out for you.

Chelsea: You’re grateful to Adam. Well, this is a first.

Billy: Keep that down, please. Don’t tell anyone I said that. More importantly, it sounds like you held your own.

Chelsea: To be honest with you, the day was great. The night was not. I just started getting these nagging, racing thoughts. My therapist calls them a thought spiral. So, she gives me techniques to try to manage them.

Ashley: Hi. Hi.

And my daughter let everybody in town think that I was the one who chased diane out of town, when, really, there was — i don’t know — a jabot-sponsored motorcade bringing her up to the abbott cabin.

Ashley: Listen, I understand your anger because jack did the same thing to me.

Phyllis: Seriously?

Ashley: Yes. He lied right to my face, telling me that diane had fled genoa city in fear. He continues to defend her, and he continues to blame us.

Phyllis: Ashley, what are we gonna do? We’re all in danger now.

Diane: Now that he’s taken the bait, I need to make sure that jeremy doesn’t have any doubts that I want to be with him again.

Jack: No, he has to believe that you’re all-in, that you’re ready to be part of his criminal activities again.

Diane: Well, I also need to make him believe that I’m drawn to him, that I missed him, and that I want to be with him romantically.

Jack: He doesn’t seem to be the kind of guy who trusts easily, if he trusts at all.

Diane: Well, it’s true.

Jack: Well, you’re gonna have to be pretty convincing to persuade him that you’re still attracted to him.

Diane: That’s the plan. Jack, are you worried that i won’t be able to pull this off? Or that I will?

Devon: Hey, look who it is!

Abby: Hi! You want to go see dad?

Devon: How you doing, buddy?

Abby: Yeah!

Devon: Mmm! How you doing? Oh! It’s good to see you. How you doing? Is it cold out there?

Abby: So cold.

Devon: We’re gonna get you all warmed up. How’s mommy?

Abby: Sorry it took us so long.

Devon: Oh, don’t be sorry at all. Gave me a chance to get it all cleaned up around here.

Abby: [ Chuckles ]

Devon: Look at you. Look at this jacket. Look at your hat.

Abby: Ooh, I can get you one.

Devon: It’s very cute. Can you?

Abby: Mm-hmm.

Devon: I’d love that. Same size, please. I want to match this guy.

Abby: Daddy is so silly. What are we gonna do with him?

Devon: Want to get you out of this? Let’s get you out of this jacket, huh?

Abby: Tucker’s not here yet.

Devon: No, no. He’ll be here any second. But, uh, I appreciate you being okay with him spending more time with dominic.

Abby: Yeah. You know, I’ve thought about it, and I want to dominic to know his entire family. It’s the right thing to do.

Devon: Well, it means a lot to me. It really does. And I think that the more love he gets, the better, right?

Abby: Exactly.

Devon: Yeah.

Abby: Yeah. Hi.

Devon: Doesn’t mean that I’m not gonna protect this little guy. I don’t care if it’s family or not. I’m always gonna be there for him.

Abby: I would like to be here for the visit, though, if that’s okay.

Tucker: That is quite a sight.

Jack: You know what? It doesn’t matter how I feel about your plan.

Diane: Well, you’ve made it clear that you hate it.

Jack: Well, the point is, I played my part. I pretended to be outraged that you came back to town only because you couldn’t stand to be away from jeremy stark any longer. The only reason I went along with this scheme is because there didn’t seem to be a viable option to getting this man out of our lives.

Diane: Jack, I promise it will work and I will be safe.

Jack: How can you say that when you’re dealing with a man like stark?

Diane: Because I know how to handle him.

Jack: You just finished telling me he can’t be trusted. Now you’re putting yourself in a situation where you have to convince him you really want him back in your life. I’m not comfortable with any of this.

Diane: [ Sighs ] Well, try to keep your personal feelings out of this and just focus on making the plan work.

Jack: I think I can do that.

Diane: I know you can. Just look at it this way. My job is to make jeremy think that he’s in control.

Jack: Yeah. And when this is over, you will be free of him forever.

Diane: Right. And if I’m going to make my act convincing, I think I need to get back to my hotel.

Jack: Well, no. No, that’s is the last place you should be — under the same roof with this man you don’t trust, alone? No. I want you to stay here.

Ashley: But, see, I’m not surprised by this because i didn’t believe for a second that diane would actually walk away from her meal ticket. In fact, after she had “left town,” I asked jack if he’d actually stashed her away someplace and was getting his kicks by being the hero, you know?

Phyllis: He denied it, of course.

Ashley: Much worse.

Phyllis: Yeah?

Ashley: His righteous indignation was absolutely epic. He expected me to apologize for my part in getting her to leave town. The lies just keep rolling off his tongue. It’s unbelievable.

Phyllis: She has him completely fooled.

Ashley: It makes me wonder. I mean, how far is he willing to go to protect her?

Phyllis: He’s blind. They’re all blind.

Ashley: I know.

Phyllis: I mean, instead of stark being a threat to her and her leaving town, she’s used this to dig in even further.

Ashley: I guess it doesn’t really do any good to remind you I wasn’t a big fan of him.

Phyllis: Well, I know you weren’t — because he was a threat.

Ashley: Yeah.

Phyllis: Jeremy stark was a threat. But she spun this whole thing to her advantage. Really. And she’s manipulated your entire family and my daughter to think that anybody…

Ashley: I know.

Phyllis: …Who points out the truth…

Ashley: I know.

Phyllis: …Is the enemy. She is a sociopath. Her plan is working.

Ashley: I know.

Phyllis: [ Sighs ]

Summer: Mom. I’ve been trying to get in touch with you.

Phyllis: I can’t imagine why.

Summer: Can we please talk?

Phyllis: It’s not a good time.

Tucker: This does my heart such good, being here with you guys. Dominic, you’re one lucky guy.

Devon: [ Chuckles ]

Abby: Well, we make sure to tell him that every day, whether he’s at my place or here with his dad.

Tucker: And believe me, i know how fortunate I am to do this — ’cause I know I wouldn’t be able to if you weren’t on board with it. So I want you to know how much i appreciate it. Ah, you’re gonna change the world one day, aren’t you?

Abby: Aww.

Devon: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Abby: Poor baby.

Devon: Got to get a full night’s sleep before he changes the world, huh?

Tucker: Yeah.

Abby: I think he’s starting to wind down.

Tucker: Yeah.

Devon: You know what? I’m gonna try and calm him down a little bit. You don’t want to hang out with anybody while you’re tired. Right?

Tucker: Thank you, dominic.

Abby: Aw.

Devon: Let’s get you relaxed.

Tucker: And thank you for letting me be in his life.

Abby: Well, you’re his grandfather.

Tucker: Mm.

Abby: I think it’s important for dominic to know his entire family. In fact, I would like to get reacquainted with his grandfather. So, what have you been up to?

[ Both laugh ]

Tucker: Geez. Where do I begin?

Abby: Well, I know you have business interests around the globe, so I’m sure you have many things clamoring for your attention.

Tucker: Mm, nothing as important as being with family.

Abby: Mm. Do you have any plans for your business while you’re in town?

Tucker: Nothing set in stone.

Abby: How long are you gonna be in town?

Tucker: I haven’t decided yet.

Devon: Hey.

Tucker: Hey.

Devon: I think he’s done for the night. I’m gonna put his pajamas on.

Tucker: Oh, sure. Okay.

Devon: So…

Abby: I love you.

[ Smooches ]

Tucker: Good night. Sweet dreams.

Devon: Say “night, night.”

Tucker: Night, night.

Devon: Say “night, night.” I’ll be right back when he’s asleep.

Tucker: Okay. Well, take your time. We got a lot to talk about.

Devon: Alright.

Abby: Do we?

Tucker: Yeah, we’ll start with the big issue. You don’t trust me. And, frankly, you shouldn’T.

Abby: [ Breathes deeply ] How do I do it all?

Abby: This isn’t about whether or not I trust you or your intentions. I just know what it takes to run a business like the one that you’ve created.

Tucker: Ah. Do tell.

Abby: Well, you’ll do whatever it takes to get what you want, very driven. God help whoever stands in your way.

Tucker: [ Chuckles ] Yeah. That’s a, uh — [ Chuckles ] That’s painfully accurate of the way I lived in my life. But notice I used the past tense there because the man you just described — that’s not the one standing before you now.

Abby: What’s changed?

Tucker: Hmm. Well, uh, I experienced an event that, uh, made me reevaluate everything. It kind of, um, changed my outlook, gave my life a deeper meaning. I guess you could call it a — a revolution in perception.

Abby: Hmm. I assume you’re talking about your time in ashram?

Tucker: You don’t believe that?

Abby: No, I believe you were there. I’m just wondering if it was more of a corporate maneuver or a way to sway public opinion.

Tucker: No, it was very much real and very much enlightening.

Abby: I assume that you understand why I’m so protective of dominic.

Tucker: Of course. Oh, my god, yes. But I would never — I would never do anything to hurt him. I — ever.

Abby: Mm. But I’m sure you said the same thing about my mother.

Summer: Ashley, I’m sorry to interrupt.

Ashley: No, it’s — it’s fine.

Summer: Mom…

Phyllis: Hmm?

Summer: …This is important.

Phyllis: Well, whatever it is, it’s gonna have to wait. I’m having a meeting right now.

Ashley: No, actually, this — this can wait, okay? Call me. It’s fine.

Summer: Mom, you can’t avoid me forever.

Phyllis: I can’t have this conversation with you right now.

Summer: Why not?

Phyllis: Because, um — well, because I’m devastated.

[ Chuckles ]

Summer: Okay. That’s fine. But can you just listen to me, then, please? Mom, I am so sorry. I don’t even know what’s going on with this whole diane and stark thing from minute to minute. It’s overwhelming, and I’m just trying to keep my family safe.

Phyllis: I’m your family.

Summer: I didn’t mean for it to sound like I was excluding you. I’m not. It’s just, I’m — I’ve just been so worried about harrison and kyle.

Phyllis: Ah. Okay. I understand that. Because you would do anything for them, right? You’d bend over backwards for them. But would they treat you like trash? Would they make you think that maybe you don’t matter?

Summer: I’m sorry that I made you feel like I don’t value you.

Phyllis: I am your mother. I don’t care what diane is feeding you. But i am your mother. I know I’ve made mistakes. I know I’ve screwed up. But I [Voice breaking] Would move mountains for you. Mountains, summer. I’d walk through fire for you. I would do anything for you.

Summer: Mom, I know that. I do, okay?

Phyllis: You keep on believing diane over me. I don’t know how to forgive that anymore, summer. I don’t know what to say.

Daniel: Hey, you two. Uh, how about I get us a round of drinks?

Phyllis: Oh, no, I — I have to go, uh… I have a meeting to go to.

Summer: Where? What —

Phyllis: Yeah. I-I just have to be anywhere but here, you know?

Summer: Mom, wait.

Phyllis: Yeah. No. I-I just — I have to — I have to go. Please. I-I can’t talk about this anymore.

Daniel: What the hell was that all about?

Diane: I appreciate the invitation, jack, but I can’t stay here.

Jack: I am not taking no for an answer.

Diane: Well, think about it. I’d be putting everyone at risk.

Jack: We will find some way to work around that.

Diane: What, and — and uproot an entire household? Send them away until it’s safe to come back? You know you can’t do that. And if jeremy got the slightest idea that I ran to you for protection, it would totally undermine the fight that we staged earlier. No!

Jack: You could use that to your advantage. You tell him that you moved in so you could make sure I gave him the second half of that fortune I promised him.

Diane: Which you never should have done. Why did you offer him so much money?

Jack: I honestly thought i was buying your freedom.

Diane: Well, I fully intend to get that money back. I mean it. Every cent.

Jack: Don’t — don’t worry about that. Right now, we have to stay focused on how we get there.

Diane: Exactly.

Jack: So, you let him know that you’re willing to use me and my resources, that you’ll use your role as mother and grandmother to manipulate all of us.

Devon: Alright, devil’s advocate — why would you let me back in after the fight we had at crimson lights?

Jack: Because I have a forgiving nature. Because there’s nothing you will do that I won’t excuse. Hell, half the people in my life already believe that. That should be an easy sell. Besides, this — this feeds into the story that part of you is still attracted to that jet-setting criminal lifestyle. You’ll do anything for stark, including put the family you love in danger.

Diane: No, jack. I’m sorry. It won’t work. We have to do this my way.

Ever notice how stiff clothes can feel rough on your skin?

Diane: I can’t tell you what it means to me that you’re willing to risk so much for my safety.

Jack: Of course we are. We’re talking about your life here.

Diane: But I need to make this look real. I need to walk the walk, live the lie. Everything hinges on me selling this to jeremy.

Kyle: How can we help?

Diane: [ Sighs ] Well, the first thing I’m going to do is tell him that I found an apartment where I’ve been hiding when I ran and, while I’ve been there, I’ve decided what I want to do next.

Kyle: Which is?

Diane: To move back into my suite at the grand phoenix.

Kyle: You can’t go back there. There’s no security.

Diane: Kyle, there’s no other way. There’s no other way. I have to be smart. I have to think five steps ahead. Jeremy will never think I’m on his side if I was to stay here.

Jack: Well, you’re not planning on cutting off all contact with us?

Diane: No, no, of course not. I will also tell him that just because I’m working with him that I’m not going to abandon my family, that I’ve — I’ve tried too hard to reconnect with my son and having my grandson in my life is too important.

Jack: And when stark questions that choice?

Diane: Well, then I’ll let him know that I’m aware of the inherent risks, but I’m confident that I can pull it off. I mean, after all, if I can make everyone believe that I was dead all those years, there’s nothing I can’t do.

Jack: [ Groans ]

Diane: I’m sorry, but it is imperative that I sound cold and calculating, or jeremy will never believe that I’m the person who used to launder money for him. He needs to know that I can work some kind of scam with him while keeping it a secret from the people I’m closest to.

Kyle: This seems like a bad idea. What do you think?

Jack: Oh, I agree with you. I don’t like it.

Diane: But it’s necessary. And I can’t pull any of this off unless I know that the two of you trust me.

Kyle: [ Sighs ] Will you at least let me drive you to the hotel?

Diane: No. I should be careful with every move I make. I don’t want him to see you dropping me off.

Kyle: I don’t like you staying in the same place as this guy.

Diane: I will be fine. Do you two trust me?

Kyle: [ Sighs ] Of course we do.

Jack: It’s stark we’re concerned about.

Diane: I’m going to make this work. I have to. It’s the only way I’ll ever be part of this family.

Daniel: You ready to tell me what I walked in on between you and mom?

Summer: We were arguing about diane again.

Daniel: Ah. What’s the latest?

Summer: Diane wanted it to look like she left town out of fear for this criminal from her past.

Daniel: But in fact…?

Summer: She was at the abbott cabin while jack and kyle tried to figure out a way to deal with the situation.

Daniel: Still doesn’t explain why mom was so furious with you.

Summer: [ Chuckles ] I didn’t tell her what was going on. So I guess that means that I’m choosing diane over my own mother.

Daniel: Yeah, well…

Summer: What?

Daniel: That’s what it looks like from the outside. I can only imagine how she feels.

Summer: Daniel, I’m stuck in an impossible position between kyle’s mom and my own. And I have a child of my own to protect now. Are you — what am I supposed to do? This criminal rolls into town. He’s capable of anything. He’s making threats. And mom was the one that got that ball rolling, by the way.

Daniel: How?

Summer: She made an anonymous call that led him here so that he could find diane.

Daniel: Look, I get it. I can see why you’d be upset with her.

Summer: Thank you.

Daniel: But it does sound like mom was right about diane. So, why would you just ignore that fact and blame her for everything?

Summer: I don’T. I blame diane.

Tucker: Abby, I come in peace. I would never mean any harm to ashley or dominic — or anyone, for that matter.

Abby: [ Sighs ] Look, I want to believe that you’re this changed man, that you have a new outlook on life. But let’s look at the facts. You only reappeared in genoa city after diane returned. The two of you had some sort of relationship in los angeles. You never bothered to tell any of us that she was still alive. So it seems more like a familiar pattern than a brand-new way of living.

Tucker: I’m not sure I see your point.

Abby: I have a reason to be skeptical. I’m the one who walked in on you and diane when you cheated on my mom — for the first time. And then, of course, there was the next time you cheated on her with devon’s mom — harmony. And I told my mom not to reconcile with you.

[ Chuckles ] So, when I see the two of you together — mnh — the alarm bells start going off. So, you can sit there and you can tell me that you’ve changed, that you love my mom, that you would never hurt her, blah, blah, blah, but those are just words. They mean nothing to me.

Tucker: You’re absolutely right. Trust needs to be earned. And until I can demonstrate that I am worthy of your trust, all i ask of you is… that you give me the gift of neutrality, considering the situation we find ourselves in. I mean, after all, you and devon are gonna be in each other’s lives forever.

Abby: What’s that supposed to mean?

For your most brilliant smile,

crest has you covered.

“The young and the restless”

will continue.

Tucker: No, I just meant that since you and devon had dominic together, you’ll be forever bound by that connection.

Abby: Of course.

Tucker: How’d it go?

Devon: Oh, it went alright. He went right to sleep.

Tucker: Nice, nice.

Abby: Hopefully he’ll sleep through the night.

Devon: Yeah, I hope so, too. I apologize. I’m sorry you didn’t get spend more time with him.

Tucker: Oh, no, no, no. I treasured every second.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Devon: You gonna check that?

Tucker: No, no. I know who it is. It can wait. Hey, thanks so much for including me here. It means a lot to me.

Devon: Absolutely. It means a lot to us, too. The more love that boy has, the better.

Tucker: Mm. Yeah. Well, uh, you two enjoy the rest of your evening.

Devon: Thank you. You too.

Tucker: I think I’m gonna go put myself to bed.

[ Laughter ]

Devon: Well, don’t be a stranger.

Tucker: Oh, you know I won’T.

Devon: Thanks for coming.

Tucker: Okay. Good night.

Devon: Night.

Abby: Good night.

[ Door opens ]

[ Door closes ]

Devon: Sorry that I left you guys down here so long together.

Abby: Ah, no. Why — why do you think something’s wrong?

Devon: Well, the look on your face when I came back, for one.

Abby: Mm. No, um… no, we were just having an honest conversation, you know, which I think is important since we’ll be spending more time together.

Devon: I like the sound of that. What happened between you guys?

Abby: What do you mean?

Devon: What do you mean, what do I mean? When I came down here, there was a clear vibe going on. So, you gonna tell me about it?

Kyle: As if this plan wasn’t dangerous enough already, on top of everything else, phyllis found out my mother is back in town. Dad, this concerns me.

Jack: Yeah, she was already feeling ostracized and angry. This only makes phyllis more of a wild card.

Kyle: And hopefully summer can help put out that fire. She went to track down her mother to apologize for keeping her in the dark.

Jack: So, what’s your sense? Does phyllis have a frame of mind to accept an apology?

Kyle: I sure hope so. I mean, I will do whatever it takes to get jeremy stark out of my mother’s life, but this is starting to put my wife in the middle of things, trying to balance her relationship with phyllis while supporting me in my relationship with my own mother.

Jack: Yeah, summer has really been there for you, hasn’t she?

Kyle: It’s been tougher than she’s been letting on, but she knows my mom needs our support right now.

Jack: I am sorry that summer and her mother are at odds, but I don’t feel a moment of sympathy toward phyllis. She played dirty, and it backfired. She’s done it before, and knowing phyllis, she’ll do it again. She’s impulsive, and she goes to extremes without considering the consequences.

[ Pounding on door ]

Open up! It’s jeremy!

Diane: [ Scoffs ]

Tucker: It’s tucker! Sorry. I just couldn’t resist. Hey.

Diane: You’re a son of a bitch.

Tucker: Uh-huh. Ah, I see.

[ Door closes ] So, first you couldn’t pack because you were in such a panic to get out of town, and now you’re packing because…? Hmm? I think I know. You’ve booked a finely appointed suite at the abbott house.

Diane: Go to hell. Just between us, you know what’s better than mopping?

Summer: I mean, did mom call stark and tell him where he could find diane? Yeah. But everyone’s forgetting a very important fact. Stark is a criminal. It was only a matter of time before he found diane all by himself. They have unfinished business.

Daniel: That’s a good point. Sounds like everyone was being way too hard on mom.

Summer: I agree. But…how do I tell my husband that the mother he is so grateful to have back in his life has brought nothing but nonstop misery and chaos to our doorstep? You know, I’ll give him that harrison loves her, and, yeah, she’s great with him, but it doesn’t change the fact that she’s the reason our child is now in danger. And she is the reason that our marriage is now complicated beyond belief.

Daniel: It’s, uh… it’s a lot. Sorry, I had no idea that things had gotten this bad.

Summer: That’s because I have been trying really, really hard to just keep everything inside. I mean, I have just been going along with everything that kyle wants for the sake of our marriage.

Daniel: So, what are you gonna do now?

Diane: What are you even doing here?

Tucker: I need to know when jeremy stark is leaving town.

Diane: Why? You getting nervous?

Tucker: I got big plans, and he could mess them up, so I want him gone.

[ Clicks tongue ] Make it happen.

Diane: I’m trying. But in case you haven’t noticed, my life is in danger.

Tucker: You have such a flair for the dramatic. You’re far better off than you’d care to admit.

Diane: [ Scoffs ]

Tucker: By the way, I just think you did a spectacular job with jack. Remarkable, what you’ve been able to accomplish in such a short time. I should really pat myself on the back for aiding you in your quest, though.

Diane: How the hell can you say that you’ve been helping me? When I told jack about my past with jeremy, you lost your hold over me. You couldn’t force me to be your spy and give you intel about jabot’s financials, so you turned on me. You told ashley all about jeremy being released from prison, knowing full well she was involved with that coven who was doing everything they could to run me out of town. You know, you set this in motion, tucker. You put all the people I care about in danger in the process. You were sacrificing all of us just so you could, what, win over ashley?

Tucker: And yet here you are, back in the saddle.

Diane: Yeah. Yeah. Forced to deal with jeremy stark, to eliminate the threat that you brought to this town. I mean, I’ve become toxic to my family. So, as a matter of fact, to answer your question, I’m checking back in to this hotel.

Tucker: Something tells me jack will find a way to turn things around.

Diane: No. I’ve — I’ve lost him.

Tucker: Oh, give me a break. You got him wrapped around your finger. You know, diane, I’m starting to think that I could learn a thing or two from you.

Diane: [ Scoffs ]

Tucker: Well, may we both get the abbott of our dreams. See you around.

[ Chuckles ]

[ Door slams ]

Diane: [ Sighs ]

Abby: Tucker just pointed out that you and I will always be connected…because of dominic.

Devon: He’s not wrong.

Abby: You know, I don’t think it would be the worst thing in the world for dominic and tucker to spend time together, occasionally, to be in each other’s lives.

Devon: Yeah. Well, you’ve clearly had a change of heart.

Abby: Mm. This is purely for your sake, not for your father’S.

Devon: I still appreciate it. How you doing otherwise?

Abby: You know, when we’re with each other… things just feel so… uncomplicated and easy. It just — it feels right. What? [ Laughs ]

Devon: No, it’S… I feel exactly the same way. Dry skin is sensitive skin, too.

Devon: I really want you to stay.

Abby: I want to stay.

Phyllis: [ Slurring ] Amanda, why didn’t you answer? Ugh, I’m having a hard time. I miss you. You’re the only one who gets me. I have abandonment issues. You know that about me.

[ Chuckles ] My daughter turned her back on me. You moved. So… I need to talk to you. Call me back. Or just move back here. Alright. I’ll talk to you later. I love you.

Tucker: Sounds like you could use someone to talk to.

[ Chuckles ]

Phyllis: I’m impervious to your charm, okay? That’s never, ever gonna change, tucker. You know?

[ Sighs ] If I need a friend, I will go find… one of mine.

Tucker: I see. Well, you know, we don’t have to be friends to have a mutually beneficial relationship.

Summer: I mean, I deserve an award for all the acting I’ve had to do. Every day is this massive production about protecting and defending diane, and I have to sit here and pretend like i believe that she’s the victim. This is a woman that burned her own life to the ground before she faked her death and stayed away for years, living a life of crime. And jack and kyle — they’re operating under this delusion that our mom is the problem, that she’s the one that created this whole mess. And you want to know what’s even more infuriating?

Daniel: Oh, there’s more?

Summer: Diane convinced kyle to lie to me about a piece of her past. I mean, he told me the truth anyway, eventually, and I was sure to let her know that. I told her not to come between me and kyle.

Daniel: What did she say?

Summer: She said all the right things. She always says all the right things. Every conversation with her is so carefully curated.

Daniel: How’s kyle handling all this?

Summer: Great. I’m hiding all my feelings, and he believes every word she says. She’s his mother.

Daniel: Mm. But how could he forgive her for abandoning him when he was a child?

Summer: He thinks she’s changed, that she’s incapable of being that same person that she was decades ago when she left him.

Daniel: Well, this can’t be easy for you.

Summer: I feel like I’m holding my breath 24/7. And it’s not like I can even go to mom and unload any of this. I literally have no one to talk to. I’m just… I’m glad that you’re here so i can finally be honest with someone.

Daniel: Look, I’m happy to listen. I will always listen. I don’t think you should have kept it all bottled up in the first place.

Summer: I’m dealing with this the only way that I can. I mean, kyle and I have managed to stay strong, so…

Daniel: Because you’re lying to him.

Summer: Only by omission. I’m protecting him. I’m protecting our marriage.

[ Sighs ] You’re right. It’s gonna get a lot more difficult now that diane has decided to stay and drag my husband even deeper into her mess. I don’t know how much longer kyle can just ignore the havoc that she’s caused before his blindness about his mother starts to come between us.

[ Door closes ]

Diane: I’ve unpacked. Hopefully everyone will think that I’ve returned to genoa city to be with jeremy stark.

Kyle: Did you see him?

Diane: No, not yet. I just wanted to get back here to reassure you guys that I’m okay.

Kyle: You need to know that even though I hate this plan, I’ve got your back. I’ll do whatever you need, help however I can.

Diane: I couldn’t ask for a better son.

Kyle: I couldn’t ask for a better mom. Now that you’re okay, I’m gonna go check on harrison.

Diane: Okay.

Jack: I can see that this is already wearing on you.

Diane: Mm. Well, I need to keep my game face on and, uh, not be so transparent with jeremy if I’m going to pull this off.

Jack: Which is all the more reason you should rely on me. What you’re doing isn’t easy. You can let your guard down with me.

Diane: [ Chuckles ]

Jack: You can talk about this, identify problems, hone the plan…

Diane: [ Chuckles ]

Jack: …Find the perfect way to get jeremy stark out of your life for good.

Diane: Thank you, jack, for everything.

[ Door opens ]

Ashley: Come on.

[ Door slams ] I mean, really, what is going on?

Jack: [ Sighs ]

Sharon: Thank you. You know, it’s been quiet around the house with Faith being away, but I know she is having the time of her life in Europe.

Noah: When did she get so old? I feel like just last week Faith was this little girl getting lost in the woods, needing to be rescued.

Nick: That’s what happens when you get older. Time moves very quickly.

Mariah: But seriously, when did she get so sophisticated? She’s like a jet-setter now.

Tessa: And by “sophisticated,” you mean more sophisticated than us?

Mariah: Yes. Yes. I would love to be skiing in the alps.

Tessa: Babe, you don’t ski.

Mariah: I would like to be doing something in the alps.

*************************************

Mariah: Okay, I have to ask. How tough was it to get him to sleep tonight, on a scale of 1 to 10?

Nick: Christian’s a cakewalk compared to that dude.

Mariah: Wow!

Sharon: Oh, yeah, that is true. Noah, you were the worst.

Nick: The absolute worst. It took forever to get him to go to bed, and then at about 3:30, he’d come knocking on the door.

Tessa: 3:30?!

Nick: Yep. Some years I’d feel like I just got my head on the pillow, and he’d come in screaming and hollering, saying he was ready to open presents.

Mariah: So, how did you get Christian to sleep tonight?

Nick: Easy. Christian likes to know things. So, first we just kind of checked out, you know, online what reindeers prefer, oats to carrots.

Mariah: Mm.

Tessa: Carrots, obviously.

Noah: How is that obvious?

Nick: Well, you’ve done your own research. Then we checked out the Santa tracker. Christian realized Santa was still really far away, and he also knows that Santa doesn’t show up until he’s asleep, so he went right to bed.

Mariah: Well, hopefully he doesn’t wake up at 3:30 like his brother used to.

Nick: Oh, man, let’s hope. But as annoying as it was, it was also really fun. You know, it’s the joy of the holiday season. I’m sure Sharon can vouch for this, and you guys will all realize it someday, but there’s just nothing like seeing Christmas through the eyes of a child.

Nick: Thanks for meeting me. Sorry I could only fit in coffee today.

Sally: It’s no problem. I know it’s close to Christmas and you have a lot of family obligations.

Nick: Yeah, I got a lot going on. I’ll tell you, Christian is starting to ask me some pretty tough questions.

Sally: Uh-oh. Like, “what’s in the eggnog?” Or, “how do you make those little popcorn strings for the tree?” Actually, I want to know the answer to the eggnog question.

Nick: Egg yolk, milk, whipped cream, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. And then throw in some alcohol if you want the big-boy version.

*****************************************

Sally: You really are great at the whole dad thing. And your children obviously adore you.

Nick: Eh, it’s not always easy, but my kids are absolutely everything to me.: It’s Faith’s first Christmas away from the nest, isn’t it? How are you doing with that?

Nick: Miss her like crazy.

[Chuckles] But that’s the thing with parenting — you know, your job, if you do it well, is to send your kids out into the world, you know, help them be independent. And if they do that, success, sadly, is not having them around much.

Sally: Yeah. Yeah, I could see how that could be hard.

Nick: Yeah. I’m happy for Faith, you know? Getting to spend the holidays in the Swiss alps with her roommate is awesome for her. But it means I don’t get to have her here with me, and I hate that.

Sally: Yeah, it makes perfect sense.

Nick: You got to let them go, you know? And if you get lucky, they come back, you know, for a while. Noah’s proof of that.

Sally: Yeah. I mean, you have one son who runs his own nightclub and another one who keeps pressing you on the logistics of Santa’s mission. It’s a — it’s a pretty big age range.

Nick: Yeah. You calling me out for that?

[Both laugh]

Sally: No, no, not at all. I-I’m calling you versatile. A man who can pal around with his adult kids, raise his young ones, and knows the recipe for eggnog? Geez, man. Sign me up.

Nick: That’s a good save. I’ll take it. Each of my kids is an incredible gift. You know, being a parent is the best thing I’ll ever do. You know, I have to admit, I’ve never actually seen it up close, a parent who actually loves being a parent.

Tucker: Yeah, I did. I took a shower earlier, but in between, I grabbed a workout. The gym here is unbelievable. Have you seen it?

Ashley: No, I haven’t had the pleasure.

Tucker: Yeah, sometimes i take multiple showers in a day. Please don’t tell my, uh, water-conservationist friends.

Ashley: Yeah. Okay. Your secret is safe with me.

Tucker: You know what I love? You remembered that intimate detail from our conversation. Did it spark any memories?

Ashley: Of what?

Tucker: Uh, maybe you and me in the shower years ago?

Ashley: No.

Audra: You know, it’s not exactly in my job description to hide in bathrooms. But I guess neither is our “colleagues with benefits” arrangement.

Tucker: I appreciate your discretion. Thank you. So, uh, before we… you were talking about striking out on your own.

Audra: I was. But after seeing how you handled Ashley Abbott, maybe you’re not so far from, you know, achieving your personal goal, which means that you’re one step closer to getting what you want on the business front, too. Perhaps I underestimated you.

Tucker: Wouldn’t be the first time, would it? Hey. Stick with me. If you do, I promise you I’ll get you that reward you dese

Jack: You’ve accomplished quite a lot in your short time at Jabot.

Adam: Ohh. Come on. It — it was adequate.

Jack: Nah, this is no time to be modest.

Adam: I made a few simple decisions to streamline our processes. It’s not that big of a deal, Jack. You know, you don’t, uh, applaud the tenor for clearing his throat, do you?

Jack: [Chuckles] I suppose not. I take it that means you have bigger plans for 2023.

Adam: Um…I do. I do, and I look forward to sharing those with you soon. But I just… you know, as we begin this new year, I just — I want to thank you again for giving me this opportunity. You know, I was in a place in my life where I needed somebody to have faith in me, and you stepped up. I appreciate it.

Jack: It was a very easy decision to make.

Adam: [Chuckles] Well, now who’s being modest? I know the rest of your family was very strongly opposed to the decision.

Jack: All water under the bridge, Adam.

Adam: Well, you’re the only one I’ve heard from, so I guess I’ll have to take your word for it. Maybe all my haters are reserving judgment to wait to see how I do on the McTavish deal.

Jack: Oh, speaking of McTavish, there is a binder on my desk with hard copies of all the information you’re gonna need.

****************************************

Sally: I would love that, but this bug made me fall behind on my work.

Chloe: It’s true. We are, you know — we’re — we’re just really busy. We’ve got a lot to catch up on, and I don’t want to point any fingers at who’s responsible, but…

Nick: What did I do?

Chloe Will you quit monopolizing my business partner’s time? Can you not tell how busy we are?

Nick: Okay, okay, I can take a hint.

Chloe: That wasn’t really a hint. I was just two seconds from telling you to get the hell out of here.

Nick: Really good at taking obvious hints. Got it. Um… maybe I’ll call you later.

Update written by Barbara

On the patio of Crimson Lights, Danny gives Daniel some words of encouragement and mentions that he shouldn’t feel that he needs to push back his emotions. Father and son hug as Danny prepares to head to the airport.

After Daniel leaves and Danny is still at the coffeehouse, Christine comes by to meet with Mariah and Tessa about their impending meeting with Delphine, the woman whose baby they might wind up adopting.  Danny agrees to stick around so he and Christine can talk after she finishes with her meeting with Mariah and Tessa. Danny can’t help but listen in to part of Christine’s conversation with the prospective new parents, telling them to put themselves forward and speak from the heart.

Hearing this, Danny flashes back to both good times and turbulent times during his past with Christine.  When Christine joins him at the Crimson Lights patio, she lets Danny know she is not pleased about Phyllis’s post on social media with theof her with Danny and Daniel.

Christine mentions that she didn’t know that Phyllis and Daniel are still in such close touch over the years. Danny downplays things and says they’re not really very close, just teammates and co-parents. Christine continues, going on about being unable to fortie of for    she literally almost caused Christine her life.

Danny says he is sorry about the pain Phyllis caused her and takes her hand in his. Christine says they were both adversely affected by Phyllis and she’s glad they were able to move on and find happiness, even though they didn’t find it together. Danny comments about her marriage to Paul approaching ten years and the deep connection Christine and Paul have and he’s really happy that things are going well for her.

Christine asks Danny if he has anyone special in his life and he tells her that he is seeing someone on a casual basis for now. He is quick to let Christine know that he always has room in his life for a dear friend.

They agree to stay more in touch and Christine says that she and Paul will come to see one of Danny’s concerts in Chicago. Both she and Dannt feel that they have more to talk about so he takes Christine up on her offer to give him a ride to the airport.

At Newman Media, Nate and Victoria are having a meeting and he notices that Victoria seems off and just not quite herself. Nate offers to get them coffee from the breakroom and listen to whatever Victoria wants to share. She opens up in a general way, saying that there are some very complicated factors going on with Johnny.

Nate mentions that although he’s not a parent himself, he was a child once, and did plenty of things that displeased his parents.  He encourages Victoria to give Johnny some space and in doing so, she might be able to prevent him from pulling away.

Billy comes by Chelsea’s apartment, claiming to be there for an update on Connor’s school project with the egg drop device. However, Chelsea senses that Billy is distracted and unhappy. Eventually, he tells Chelsea that Lily thinks that she and he may be done, and Chelsea becomes alarmed and worried that the rift  in his relationship with Lily is due to Billy spending too much time with her.

As a result, Chelsea strongly suggests to Billy that he meet with Lily and let her know how much she means to him.  Chelsea tells Billy that she got a second chance, now he deserves one. With Chelsea’s encouragement, Billy texts Lily to ask if they can get together.

Meanwhile, Lily is at Society, where she runs into Nick and joins him at a table. Lily is cautious about telling him anything regarding her relationship with Billy, seeing as how Billy had been Nick’s brother-in-law at one point. So, Billy and Nick have small talk, talking about how their holidays were.

Nick then apologizes for Newman Media’s decision to fire Sally and instate Nate as CEO with the company. Lily lets him know that it’s fine because she knows he was not involved with what happened with Nate and Victoria. Nick doesn’t mention anything specific, but Lily says that his silence is giving her answers about the overall situation.  She lets him know that when she gets hurt, she can roll with it. Nick asks if they’re talking about Nate or Billy at that point. He offers to listen to whatever is troubling her but she declines.

After Nick leaves, Lily gets a text notification on her phone. It’s from Billy, saying that he wants to meet up with her. She agrees to get together with him at the Glam Club. When they are there, Billy tells her that he wants to save their relationship. After some tense words between him and Lily, he admits that he messed up.

He tells her that he will do anything that needs to be done to salvage their relationship, saying that he will make an appointment for couples counseling and do anything else Lily requests. She and Billy agree to improve their relationship rather than abandoning it.

At her apartment, Chelsea gets a text from Connor asking if they can have pizza with Johnny that week. Chelsea starts typing a text about it to Billy, but deletes what she had been typing. Instead, she texts Victoria to ask her about it. When Victoria gets Chelsea’s text asking if Johnny could join her and Connor for pizza sometime, Victoria doesn’t want that. So, she starts typing a reply to Chelsea, saying that Johnny has too much homework.  Victoria hesitates, then changes her mind and deletes what she was typing. Instead she lets Chelsea know that she will get back to her about setting up a night that works for all of them.
