And as for the fight, josslyn apologized and we worked things out. Yeah. Mind if I ask what the argument was about? Just josslyn being josslyn, you know? Complaining about my dad. Did sonny do something we’re all gonna hear about? No. No, nothing like that. No, no, no. It’s just, ever since carly and my dad broke up, josslyn totally turned on my dad, and she’s always saying negative things about my dad, whether they’re true or not. In this instance, though, it turned out to be true. I’m sorry. But, you know, parents are human. Sometimes they disappoint us. Family rifts are difficult. It’s one more reason to be careful. Careful? Yes, he is. Alison told me about kristina’s pregnancy. It is a brave new world out there, isn’t it? Yes, it is. It continues to be. My daughter molly was having fertility problems. Oh. Really struggling to have a family, and kristina wanted to help her out. They love each other, and I’m very proud of them. Yeah, of course, you’d be. But you know that their choices present some complications for kristina and alison. Oh. How so? Well, pregnancy in and of itself is a complication. It’s a disruption in a woman’s life, in a couple’s life. And that’s under the happiest of circumstances. I was under the impression that blaze was nothing but supportive. Oh, yeah, she is, of course. That’s my allie. But there’s also public perception to consider. Natalia… I am very happy to meet you, and I’m so glad that you came by, but I can see that this might be more than a meet and greet. So if there is something on your mind, please feel free to share that. Good. I’m really glad that you are open to an honest discussion because I’m concerned for my daughter. She thinks she’s entitled to a private life, but as blaze, that can’t happen. Yeah, the cost of fame. Your point being? Two women seen out together, one of them pregnant. People are bound to ask whose baby it is, and most people are just gonna assume that it’s theirs. I’m not sure why that would be anyone else’s business.

[ Sighs ] Alexis, you run a newspaper. You have a gossip column. If the girls are out and somebody shoots a picture of them together and posts it, I mean, you know more than anybody that one photo can change somebody’s life for better or for worse. If you’re referring to my father, I have no intention of staying away from him. I love him very much, and he always has my support. Okay, I understand that, but I also know that my uncle curtis was just shot from simply being in the same vicinity as sonny. So all I’m suggesting is that you keep some distance during the pregnancy. I’ve made it crystal clear that this baby’s well-being is my top priority, tj. You have. And we appreciate that. I’ve been eating healthy. I’ve been taking my vitamins. I’m staying hydrated. I’m going to all of my doctor’s appointments. I’ve even paused working at the corinthos-davis center for this pregnancy. I am taking extremely good care of myself. And seeing my friends and my family, that’s included in that. I don’t think separating myself from them is necessary or healthy. If you’ll excuse me, I have a full day ahead of me. No, kristina, please don’t go. No, really, I should — I should get going because I would hate to have to rush or get home past my bedtime. You’ve barely touched your breakfast. I know how to feed myself. I do manage a restaurant. I love you. Really, tj? What was that all about? Curtis and I were discussing an upcoming project, nina. [ Sighs ] Well, you drive a hard bargain, drew. I’m just giving my good friend some sound advice. Curtis, before you get in bed with drew… …make sure you know what you’re getting into. And so what are you doing here? Oh, well, I came to talk to maxie. Really? Maxie, huh?

[ Whispering ] You know, you don’t need an excuse if you really just want to see me.

[ Normal voice ] I’ll tell you what. Why don’t we go to my office, and we can watch a replay of my segment on “home & heart”? Um, I-I don’t think that’s a good idea. No, it’s a great idea. I know. No. I know I did really well. I did. It’s just that I thought maybe I could take notes on my performance, hone my craft a little bit, you know? There’s always room for improvement. I’ve been reading up on marilyn monroe. She studied with lee strasberg. That method acting technique says you should infuse your own experiences, really, to make the audience feel what you’re — okay, lucy? The pitchwoman for deception is not supposed to be acting. They’re supposed to be selling. And they do that by projecting sincerity and approachability. The audience needs to feel like this person is a friend whose recommendations they trust so when the pitchwoman says, “deception’s disruptor nourishing cream really refreshens your complexion,” the audience believes them. And they buy the product. Right. But the first thing the pitchwoman has to do is actually mention the product! I agree. Of course. That’s why I still think that my name should be in the title for our new skin care line. Like lucy’s luminous skin serum. Or lucy’s luminous luscious lotion. Which do you like? I actually can’T. Please stop this madness and just tell her. What? Tell me what? Uh, lucy… um, your appearance on the “home & heart” show… …it was a disaster.

[ Gasps ]

Disaster?! I was an unqualified success. It was a dumpster fire. Maxie, go easy on her. Someone has to tell her the truth.

[ Sighs ] The tru– the truth?! The truth is, is I completely crushed it. And — and wait, I have all the comments right here to prove it. Lucy, you talked about yourself on live tv for a solid hour. You recapped your greatest successes, real and imaginary. You barely mentioned our product or deception. You were clearly there to sell yourself. I am deception. I created deception, and deception’s my baby. And our audience knows that. Okay, yes, you have a following, but that does not automatically translate to sales. You were there to introduce our new face cream, not inflate your own ego.

[ Gasps ] That’s just rude. No, rude was how you were constantly trying to one-up haven. That’s because of haven! She is jealous of me, and she can’t stand the competition. Haven calls the shots. She wants sales, not self-promotion. Exactly. And the bottom line is, haven is a businesswoman, and she will forget all the envy and anything about me because the sales are skyrocketing, and it’s because of me. What are you doing? Tell her. Lucy, about those skyrocketing sales, okay? They are skyrocketing because of me because the numbers do not lie. You’re right — the sales are great. But they’re not because of you. He said he’d just set it down in the wrong place, but it looked like somebody deliberately did it to him. And last week, he came home with paint in his hair. It wasn’t a lot, but it definitely looked like somebody had flicked a paintbrush at him on purpose.

[ Groans ] And you’re worried about bullying. Well, yeah. I mean, it’s happened before when he was younger. So the thought’s definitely crossed my mind. But whatever is happening, he seems to want to just handle it himself. Yeah, but sometimes our kids think that they can handle it themselves, but they can’t really. I know, but I don’t want to hover. I know. Yeah. I get that. I hate that term — “helicopter mom.” Mm. It makes you feel like you’re second-guessing yourself when you’re concerned or involved in your children’s lives. There’s being concerned, and then there’s wanting to control your son’s life, and I just — I don’t know where this falls on the spectrum. Maybe you could chat with his counselor. Talk to his teachers, see what they know, what they don’t know. They see so much more than we do sometimes. At the end of the day, we just want what’s best for our kids, right? Moll. Moll. Come on. Talk to me. Trust me, you do not want to hear what I am thinking right now. Okay. Look, I get that you’re angry. No, I’m frustrated and disappointed, and I cannot for the life of me understand what you thought you were doing coming for kristina like that. I was thinking of our baby’s well-being. And kristina’s, too. Look, I commend her for living a healthy lifestyle and following the guidelines, but is it not common sense to want to stay out of the line of fire? Believe me, I have no illusions about sonny, but he is highly unlikely to put his pregnant daughter at risk. Tell that to my uncle curtis. Things happen. Okay. But let’s have a sense of proportion. We cannot ask my sister to stay away from her father. Yeah, well, I just did. Oh, and you saw how well that went. I expected pushback, molly, and I’m not sorry that I tried, and that’s not gonna stop me from speaking my mind to the woman carrying our child, even if she’s the daughter of a dangerous man. As a now-responsible journalist, I don’t really approve of policing social media sites. I mean, I think people have the right to think or say whatever they want, regardless of how despicable or ridiculous it is, as long as it’s within the law. That’s commendable — as a journalist. What about as a mother? Well, I would hate to see kristina or blaze dragged through the mud. I mean, that would be painful to see. On the other hand, i didn’t raise a shrinking violet, and I’m pretty certain you didn’t either. So I’m confident that they’d be able to weather whatever came at them. Well, that’s very supportive and sane… albeit a little idealistic, because I’m just more of a pragmatist, and I can’t help but recognize that the fallout for alison would be a lot different than for kristina. Hmm. How so? Isn’t it obvious? Alison is a star with a huge fan base and following, and kristina is — is a bartender.

If you have an issue with blaze’s public persona, then that is something you should probably take up with your daughter. I don’t really see how I can help you. Please, please, don’t misunderstand. I’m not disparaging kristina in any way. Natalia… I want to thank you so much for coming by, but I run a newspaper here and I’m getting a lot of calls coming in while we’re having this conversation. If wanting the best for our baby makes me a control freak, then I will wear that as a badge of pride, molly. Great. Be proud of yourself. Just lay off kristina. Be proud of myself? I don’t think that it is unreasonable to want her to stay physically safe. It is if you drive her away. Then that’s on her. That’s not on me. Look, look, I understand that kristina’s hormonal, but taking off in a huff just because we’re asking questions, molly… I’m a doctor. Yes, but you’re not her doctor. You’re not even the baby’s doctor. If there were concerns, dr. Navarro would have raised them, but she hasn’T. Dr. Navarro is only evaluating kristina based on what she sees in front of her. She’s not factoring in her connection to sonny. And that’s a good thing because kristina has somewhere that she can feel safe and not judged. I’m not judging her. Aren’t you?

[ Sighs ] We’re supposed to be in this together. All three of us. We should have some say in how she is living her life. It’s our baby. I know this. But it is kristina’s life. We cannot monitor her every move. Right. Because she’s your sister. If we’d gone with a surrogate, in a few months from now, we’d have our baby with no strings attached, but now we — mm! No, go on. Say it. Now we’ll never get rid of her?

Well, the savoy has been doing really well and I’m thinking about diversifying. Oh, like franchise or making it a brand? Yeah… the savoy is unique and I want to keep it that way. But it does involve branding. Drew and I have been talking about him wanting to move aurora into fitness and wellness. And so he’s starting a new division, and he wants me to head that division.

[ Chuckles ] I’m sorry. I guess I just wasn’t expecting anything like that. Wow. We had… yeah, preliminary meeting a few weeks ago. And he just now confirmed that they’re moving on, and they want me in charge. Babe… this is the kind of opportunity that only happens once. What do you think? Should I go for it? Okay. You want willow to go public with her medical history. I don’t know if that’s a great idea. She’d be talking about her leukemia and her lifesaving transplant. That could help a lot of people. And aurora is involved with this why? Wait, you think I’m making money off of this? You’re wrong. No, I’m working with a nonprofit who finds donor matches for stem cells and bone marrow. Willow’s story is so inspirational. She’d make such a great spokesperson. She could jump-start the whole project. And you presented all of this to willow like that? Absolutely. And I made it very clear that ultimately the decision’s up to her. Okay, I can’t ask for more than that. Thank you. Why would your fans wait until you were finished to buy the product? Obviously, because they were enthralled, spellbound by my narrative. I mean, it’s a pretty incredible story, my long, hard road to my success. They listened. Okay. All right. Let’s say there are 1,000 diehard lucy fans who were hanging on your every word. There were 10,000 audience members who were waiting to change the channel until sasha stepped in and saved your bacon. Oh! So you’re giving sasha credit for all my sales?! They were my sales. Look, believe it or not, I understand your concerns. Sonny being kristina’s father and the fact that I might end up prosecuting him — do you know how much I am dreading that possibility? Probably as much as I dread the idea of our child’s biological grandfather being a mob boss.

[ Sighs ] But it’s not all about sonny. I have my concerns with kristina, too. Look, you know I had my hesitations at first. But kristina and i came to an understanding, and I thought that you did, too. That’s why we accepted her offer to be our surrogate, and she genuinely wants to help. She has said from the very beginning that she will be aunt kristina to our child, the same way that she is to danny and scout. But she didn’t carry and give birth to danny and scout. There’s a big difference. How long before she’s second-guessing us, judging our parenting styles, inserting herself into our lives, molly? Kristina has her own life. She has two jobs and a new girlfriend. Mm-hmm. You don’t think that can change with her being pregnant? Okay, of course she will reach a point when she’s go to slow down and… I am talking about her, molly. Everyone, everyone keeps telling me what a beautiful gift it is that kristina is giving us, but that gift comes with a cost. Kristina is more than a surrogate. She is biologically and emotionally invested. Just tell me… you can see how potentially difficult this is. I understand. But I am still choosing to be hopeful. I have seen kristina really come into her own these last few years. She’s changed, tj. For the better. I guess we’ll see. We have no choice at this point.

[ Groans ] You’re going through a lot, all right, internally, externally. The hormones are working, they’re working for the baby, and they’re working for your hair, I might add, right? Lucy, I know you give deception your all. Maybe at times too much of your all. But I’m not trying to minimize your commitment to deception or your accomplishments. I’m just trying to remind you that deception is not only yours. It’s not only mine, or brook lynn’s, or sasha’s, or tracy’s, for that matter. Um, but what you’re forgetting is, we don’t have sasha, and blaze’s uber-controlling mommy won’t let blaze pitch. Right. So I’m all we’ve got. There is nobody else. Well, there is one other person. I certainly regret that you are such a horrible, vengeful person. Well, if it helps, think about sending me to prison as foreplay. Hilarious. Look. I am done working for the day, really would like to get out of here, so do you mind letting me know how long you plan to lecture me about how awful a person I am before you kind of straighten up your clothes and, uh, get out of here?

Well, I have some questions about deception, and you seem like you are the only serious person who’s involved in running the company. That’s just not true. Isn’t it, though? Ms. Coe seems pretty neurotic, and there’s that crazy attorney who redrafted allie’s contract. I don’t — okay. Look. Lucy is lucy, and where scott might be eccentric, he’s also very competent. You have yet to meet our majority shareholder, tracy quartermaine, who’s a force of nature. I might call her

too serious. Then, of course, there’s brook lynn. Yeah. Another quartermaine. Okay. Olivia: Ahh! It’s the moment of truth. Look at this. How does it look? Well, remember what I said. I am not gonna be a pushover. I’m gonna tell you what I really think. Okay? Could’ve jazzed up the presentation a little bit, but it smells very good. Doesn’t look like anything we’ve had before. Well, maybe sasha is trying to broaden our horizons, huh? What about that?

She’s afraid sonny might have you killed. And I promised her I would not let that happen. No offense, but how are you gonna stop it? I’ll figure it out. Thanks, but no thanks. If I can protect myself. I can respect that. But I’m not doing it for you. I’m doing it for josslyn. And for sonny. I think you’ve got your motives crossed. Sonny’s the one who wants me dead. Sonny knows better than to target a cop. I mean, he should. He did. He should’ve known better than to go after cyrus renault, but he still sent me to kill him.

I want to focus on what I just overheard. Representative mcconkey? Seems like an odd fit for crimson. What was that about? Larry mcconkey is a family friend. He was in the same class as my father, and he reached out to me because he has A… exclusive announcement that he wants to reveal in a interview. And if it isn’t suitable for crimson, I can always run it in the invader. Well, I want to go with you when you meet with him. Mcconkey’s a major player in the house, and if he reached out to aurora — no, he reached out to me. Well, I want to take advantage of this opportunity and I’d like to make his acquaintance. And who exactly would I say you are? My chauffeur? Just tell him I’m the guy you sent to prison and whose clothes you like to rip off every once in a while. Taste this. Oh. What is it? [ Mutters ] It’s great. You sure? Y-you’re not just saying that? No, t-this is great. Sasha, what’s going on here? Oh, I’m auditioning to be the quartermaines’ cook, and I made a tetrazzini, which I am now really regretting. I mean, why did i pick something that olivia can probably make in her sleep? Wait. Hold on. You might work here, too? Sasha, this is great. Why am I just hearing about this now? Well, it just came about this afternoon. The quartermaines need a cook, and olivia really likes that shepherd pie that I made, so… mm-hmm. …She wants to hire me, but she wanted me to audition first by cooking something tonight. I-I would’ve really liked some time to practice the dish, but the job comes with room and board, so I couldn’t say no. Wait. So you might live here, too? Yeah. I really hope that it works out because I’m supposed to be out of my apartment by the end of the month, and the rental market is really insane right now. Besides… I would really like the job. But I-I don’t want to infringe o-on your thing. Wait. Wha– what? Would you feel crowded if I were living here, too?

[ Coughs ] Can I have it tomorrow night, too? Maxie: This is the disruptor nourishing moisturizer. It’s part of our new deceptive skincare line. Oh, I really like the scent. And the texture is nice, too. But does it work? Because I’m not gonna have allie hawking some bogus cream. If she’s gonna be identified with a product, it’s got to really give good results. Of course, it works. All of our products are rigorously tested. Everything we make does what we say it will. The most important thing deception has is our customers’ trust — their belief in our brand and in us. Well, you’re clearly a very effective marketer. But, look, what I really want to talk about is, what does alison’s music manager exactly do here at deception? Um, okay. Brook lynn has had several important roles at deception over the last few years. That just makes me wonder why none of the positions held her interest for very long. No, no, no. That’s not how I would describe it. Well, I understand that brook lynn had her own brief singing career for a while. When she got tired of that, she moved on to music management because her mom did it. With all due respect, that is not very fair to brook lynn. She didn’t have any choice but to give up singing. It’s not what she wanted. And while, yes, she was introduced to the music industry by her mother and her dad, actually, she genuinely loves it, and she believes in and is very serious about the artists she represents. So, then, when did she become really serious about face creams? Because it just seems to me that alison is putting her career in — in the hands of this wealthy dilettante who really doesn’t know what she wants to do with her life, so she tries a little bit of this and a little bit of that and basically changes careers like some people change hairstyles. I know you went to work for sonny because michael hired you. He wanted you to get evidence against sonny, and you did. You still have it? No. If I did, I’d have given it to commissioner devane. What was it? Ask michael. Dex… I told josslyn I’m not gonna let sonny kill you. That means I’m not gonna kill you, either. I learned a lot from sonny. He’s smart. He’s cautious. He understood that there’s certain risks not worth taking. He doesn’t think that way anymore. No, he doesn’T. So I need to know how sonny got in over his head, starting with his deal with pikeman. I like sitting here with you. It’s comfortable. It’s familiar. Well, we’ve known each other a long time. I thought about you a lot while I was out of the country. You were out of the country? What, you were doing business abroad? No. I was taking charlotte back to boarding school in switzerland. She went back? Willingly? It was her idea. I mean, despite the fact that it was victor who took her there in the first place, she likes it. She has friends there and equestrian events. And she wanted to get out of port charles ’cause it hasn’t been very good for her. I don’t need to tell you that. No. I’m aware of the things that happened to her lately and my part in that. I’ll always regret that night. But I am very grateful that she felt well enough to go back to switzerland and — I mean, if that’s what she wants. Me too. I miss her. Of course you do. I miss you, too. I miss having you in my life. And I know that wasn’t possible while charlotte was in town, but she’s — she’s away at boarding school now. Is it crazy to think that maybe we can see each other again?

I’m not making any promises, but I will think about introducing you to congressman mcconkey — on one condition. And that would be? That we both agree that… this can never happen again. That’s fine with me. Already forgot about it.

[ Knock on door ] I’ve already forgotten about it, too. I thought I told them to — willow: Drew? Are you in there? It’s willow!

[ Objects shuffling ]

[ Door opens ] Willow! Hey! I-I thought I heard somebody knocking. Come on in. Willow! [ Chuckles ] So sorry. We didn’t — we didn’t hear you. Nina, did you, uh — did you lock the door? Eh– I-if I did, I didn’t mean to.

[ Clears throat ] The, uh — the rep was a suit named hume. Sonny must have met with him three or four times. Was there anybody else? Valentin cassadine. He’s the one who set up the initial meeting, and then when sonny wanted to back out, valentin came back. So why did sonny change his mind about working with pikeman? He thought it was too risky. The first shipment that they had us move was this, uh — this plastic explosive. It’s a classified weapon. It’s supposed to be for special forces. It’s not supposed to be for sale. It’s a major nsa violation. But if sonny had been busted, it would have been 20 years minimum. And you got a recording of it? I gave it to michael like we agreed. He decided not to use it. Did you keep a copy for yourself for insurance? No, I thought it would be safer to not have anything to tie me to the video. Alright. So what — so what about cassadine? Did he do anything else besides set up the meeting? Yeah. Yeah, he met with hume the same day that someone tried to take sonny out at the metro court. How do you know that? I was out for a run. I saw hume get out of a car at the cosmopolitan hotel with cassadine. Are you sure… that this was the same day somebody shot at sonny? Positive. There’s a date stamp on the picture. You got that picture? You caught me off guard there. Really? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, really. I thought that… …that we agreed that there was just too much hurt and damage, you know, and that that door was just permanently closed. Anna, I’m rattling around in that huge house all by myself. A house that I bought for you and me to share. And I miss you. Will you let me take you out to dinner? Maybe we can move beyond the past? I’m gonna have to think about that before I can give you an answer if that’S… well, you’re willing to think about it. That’s a good start. Not making any promises, though. Mm-hmm. I mean, my feelings for you didn’t just… disappear overnight. You know, it’s really difficult for us to go separate ways after everything we had. But I’m just not sure if I’M… ready to go down that path again, you know, ’cause maybe t-there’s just more heartbreak. I think there’s only one way to find out.

Pursue it. Okay. Look. I’m happy todiscuss deception with you, but if you’re here to enlist my help to undermine brook lynn’s role as blaze’s music manager, you’re barking up the wrong tree. Brook lynn is my best friend. She’s also a consummate professional. She understands all aspects of the music industry, creative, logistical, financial. Sure, brook lynn’s mom may have shown her the ropes when it comes to the music industry, but brook lynn’s been doing it on her own ever since. Oh, come on.

[ Chuckles ] To say that brook lynn quartermaine has been doing it on our own, that’s actually laughable because I believe that the term for it is “nepo baby” — when somebody’s parents and grandparents — I mean, in this case, brook lynn’s entire family — paved the way for her. And the phrase “did it on her own” should be saved for people like alison who actually didn’t know anybody in the music industry and still made it as a star. This is not a competition. They can both be good at what they do. Well, that remains to be seen. I’ m sorry. I tried knockinga little while ago, but you must not have heard me. Um, I-I tried to leave a message with the front desk, but they said you were still in here working, so I came back. I can see you’re busy, though, so, um, we could totally talk another time. Oh, no. Stay, stay. Willow. No, we just, um — we finished, um, going over the crimson photo budget, and drew was very generous and gave me everything I wanted. But now we are finished. Crimson wouldn’t run very well if we don’t talk. No. Right. Of course. I-I — I guess I meant “thrown” in a good way. If drew can still sit across from you and calmly discuss normal things like a photo budget after you sent him to prison, then… he must be a pretty forgiving person. Yes. He certainly is. And if the two of you can find a way to get along, then it makes me wonder if I haven’t been too harsh, holding on so tightly to my grievances, so… maybe it’s time I let my anger at you go, too. [ Chuckles ] Well, that was very unexpected.

[ Chuckles ] Yeah. Definitely not what I was thinking was going to happen when I came to see you tonight. How did it feel to reach out to nina like that? Surprisingly okay. And I have you to thank — for being the bigger person and showing me the way. Sasha — should I just go back to the house? I was trying to give them some space, but maybe michael and olivia are just trying to think of the best way to turn me down nicely. Has anyone ever told you that you’re really cute when you’re nervous? Which you don’t have to be. Because, number one, what you made is delicious. Number two, no, I don’t feel crowded by you. In fact, I thought it was the other way around. And, number three, you’ll never be without a place to stay. If it comes down to it, you can live up in my room, and I’ll sleep down here with the beasts, where I belong. Please don’t misunderstand me. I-I hate being this mistrustful and — and suspicious. But I got a terrible wake-up call with alison’s first manager, linc. He exploited her, he abused her, and I had no idea what was even going on. What happened with linc was horrible. And you have every right to be worried about blaze. But brook lynn — she’s above-board, and she would never do anything to hurt your daughter. Are you — are you a mom? Yes, I have a son and two daughters. Okay. Good. Then you understand why I’m asking so many questions. I just — I want to protect my daughter, and I don’t want her represented by someone who just thinks that music is some, you know, fun break from tennis on tuesdays or something sweet and fun to do while she’s not planning her wedding. Okay, that’s not how brook lynn thinks at all. Let’s face it. Alison’s association with brook lynn is the only reason she’s the face of deception because my daughter’s bigger dreams have nothing to do with face cream. I’ve known brook lynn for a long time. And I’ve always thought that, for a quartermaine, she’s pretty well-adjusted, realistic, and hardworking. Blaze seems to think so, too, which makes me wonder. All these big dreams that you keep talking about? Are they your daughters or are they yours? So easy to, uh — to blame the mother, isn’t it? You’ll find that out when your kids get older. Just something to think about. Have a nice day. It was one thing when my mom got alzheimer’s, but then we started noticing things that seemed…off. She developed agitation that may happen with dementia due to alzheimer’s disease. Sometimes she’d fidget with her fingers, get suddenly overwhelmed, and even throw things. And that was just never her. So we asked her doctor what else we could do.

Dex witnessed valentin and hume meeting on the same day the sniper team tried to take sonny out at the metro court pool. No. No, that’s impossible. You are giving me too much credit, willow. You’re literally one of the most forgiving people I’ve ever met. I like to think so, but with nina, it is different. I mean, after everything she did, I had to distance myself, but maybe it is time I stopped being so angry at her — for both of our sakes. Well, you’ve got my support, whatever you choose. Thank you. So, what did you want to talk to me about? I have been thinking about the proposal from the nonprofit, and I just wanted to get more information. And michael suggested I circle back to you since you were the one who had the preliminary contact with the organization. Yeah, the new tomorrow institute. Absolutely. Have a seat. What do you want to know? Can you give me a little more information about what it is they’re looking for? Sure. Um… from our conversation, what I know is that they want to educate the general public because most people just really don’t understand how life-saving stem-cell and bone-marrow transplants from cord blood can be, especially when it comes to incredibly difficult to treat cancers a-and diseases. And the therapy is in its infancy, of course, but the — the success rate is climbing every day. Yeah. I get that. Before I got leukemia, a lot of that was foreign to me, too. Right. That’s what they want to do. T-they want to get that information. They want to make it easier to digest for the general public, and they’d like a face and a — and a voice to help spread awareness, somebody that’s young and vibrant and articulate and a survivor — like you. I mean, you’d be perfect. What exactly would I be doing on a daily basis? Well, you’d be the first person to have the job, so I think it’s yours to define, but I’m assuming you’d be doing some public speaking, probably making some videos, psas. I know they want you to advocate for fundraising. All of that seems within my capabilities. Definitely. Now, I also know that they want to keep as much money as possible for the foundation, right? So, I mean, the pay would be low, but you and michael are pretty wealthy, so I’m assuming maybe you wouldn’t want to take a salary anyway. Well, I’m not sure. I mean, the last thing I would ever want to do is take money away from someplace that needs it, but I have always paid my own way, and I’m really proud of that. However, having the flexibility to spend more time with wiley and amelia might be a bigger priority to me right now than a paycheck. If you decide to take on the role, I’m sure they’re gonna work it out. It’s pretty amazing, you know, that you’re such a good person that causes like this know they can reach out to you for help. Well, I probably should be humble and say I’m no angel, but I… I really like you thinking that I am. Maxie! Great! You’re still here. I’m trying really hard not to be. What’s up? I’m celebrating. Okay, okay, okay! I can hear everybody gushing about sasha’s cooking all the way up here. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, okay? Frankly, I thought there was a little too much oregano, not enough basil. That would have improved the dish immensely. I’m — I’m with you there, mama Q. Sasha brought me a plate, and it was delicious, except for the oregano. See that? That’s a man after my own heart. Okay. Other than that minor miscue, michael and I both thought that the dish was excellent. Even the boys liked it. They’re notoriously hard to please. So… what do you think? Can you put a dinner like that on the table every single night, plus breakfasts and lunches? Because, if you can, the job is yours.

[ Sighs ] Okay, so pikeman briefed me and hamish about the metro court shooting. Basically to prep us for the job at the warehouse. It was a two-man sniper team, same as us. They got a room, they set up in the metro court, they took the shot, and then they evacuated to an extraction point where they met senior personnel who were running the op. Roman hume… and valentin? Look. They didn’t give us any names. But it sure looks like it. Well, clearly, valentin does more for pikeman than just set meetings. I was just with him. You know, when you texted me, I was — I was with him. I bumped into him at the metro court bar, and he said he’d been out of the country, that he went to switzerland to deliver his daughter back to boarding school… that it was her idea. But now I’m wondering… if it doesn’t just make it easier for him to do pikeman’s bidding. You know, switzerland’s a neutral country. It’s famously discreet. God. Half the world’s arms is sold there. He has a perfect reason to return at any point, whenever pikeman requires. So what do you want to do? Remember I told you that I was at the wsb with him? With valentin? Trainees. He was very good. But I was better.

[ Chuckles ]

[ Inhales sharply ] Whew! Okay. Kristina. Are you okay? Actually, that depends on you. Thank you for taking the time to meet with me. Whoa. That was some serious corporate speak.

[ Both laugh ] I’m sorry. You’re right. I guess I’m, like, kind of stuck in the zone. Try again. Hi, willow. Hi, drew. So nice of you to stop by! I was happy to! It gives me the chance to tell you in person that amelia loved her first swim lesson. Ah! You see?! You were right. I knew it! Aw, that makes me so happy. Okay. So amelia did well, but how did mom do? Well, I was nervous at first, but once I saw how comfortable she was, I was — I was fine. That’s awesome.

[ Stammers ] I — since I’m staying here, I thought I would meet the new owner of the hotel. Well, you already know jason, and if you’re looking for the new owner, you found her. Anna: Hi. Jason: Hey. Thanks for meeting me. Yeah. Of course.

[ Sighs ] I want to debrief you. I think if we are going to figure out who’s running pikeman and shut them down… there’s a fair amount of things you need to know. Such as? Well, firstly, I think valentin is involved. In pikeman? Big-time. There must be some sort of mistake. The only visitor I ever have is my mother, and she was just here. Hello, nikolas. Right this way.

I just had a meeting with a nonprofit who wants us to run their pr. Okay. What kind of pr were they thinking of? Well, they want aurora to help raise awareness for their cause by featuring them in our publications and in our media, but the reason that you’re here is because they’re looking for a spokesperson. Oh. Uh, sure. I could help you research some candidates. I think the spokesperson should be you. Me? You sound surprised. Because I am. Drew, I have zero experience with nonprofits or — or being a spokesperson for anything. But this cause, in particular, you do have experience with. This probably should’ve been my first question, but what exactly does this nonprofit do? Okay. The new tomorrow institute helps people find bone-marrow donors. T-they also coordinate umbilical-cord blood donations. So, I think it’s safe to say that the transplant process isn’t very well understood by the general public, and this organization is really trying to change that. And when they said that they were — they were looking for somebody to personalize their message, I immediately thought of you, a leukemia survivor in large part due to a bone-marrow donation. Willow, you got the — the power to make a huge impact here. Well, I shouldn’t say “owner.” I’m a co-owner with olivia quartermaine. Just like old times. Uh, yep.

[ Laughs ] I’m happy for you. Really? That’s not exactly the vibe I’m getting from you. No. No, no, no. I am. I remember how you talked about the metro court, how much you loved running the place. I did. I do. But I also remember you saying you never thought you’d get it back.

[ Inhales sharply ] That’s also true. So, what happened? Jason bought it and then sold you his half? He gave it to me. Just handed it over? Expected nothing in return? Jason doesn’t operate like that. When he does or says something, he means it. Okay. That explains his side. But not mine. Well, you just don’t strike me as someone who would accept a gift like that. You know? You seem to value your independence too much. Am I off base? No. You’re spot on. So, valentin, jack brennan, and I, we all came up through the wsb together. Wait. Val– y-you’re saying that valentin was an agent? A desk agent. You didn’t know that? Hm. So, anyway, we all went through the wsb training course at the same time. Jack brennan, he finished top of the class, which is what I had intended to do, but I wound up second. I think it was maybe sexism at work, but who knows. Anyway, valentin did very well, too. He finished close to the top. I mean, it’s kind of just like going through university together. You know people, but you don’t know them very well. Brennan — always a bit of a pragmatist. Now, I’m almost positive that he stole the money that was used to seed pikeman. Okay. Where — where does valentin fit in? If you would ask him, nowhere. However, when pikeman initially approached sonny to handle the shipment, valentin was the go-between. Now, he says it’s because he did contract work for them back in the ’90s and that there are no other ties. But you don’t buy it? No. Did you push him on it? No. I mean, “push” him? No. I don’t think that he believes I’m suspicious — of him, anyway. The subject that I probed on was brennan. Okay. And?

[ Chuckles ] It’s really interesting. Like, he convinced me that — that I was remembering wrong, that he and brennan weren’t tight the way I believed. And, I mean, you know, it was the ’80s, so it’s a while back. But I-I did some thinking. I know I’m right. I know brennan and valentin were thick as thieves back then. Okay. So valentin’s hiding something. I’m almost certain… at times. And then at other times, I think I’m being a bit paranoid. I kind of go back and forth. That’s not like you. I have to be honest with you. When it comes to valentin, you know… …my judgment is a bit compromised. Look at you! Trusted status. Free movement around the place. “Free-er.” Let’s not go crazy. Well, you’re out and about with no guards present. I’m impressed. It is a perk. And, uh, how about you? Finding a reason to visit pentonville that has nothing to do with me and doesn’t require a midnight van trip. Kudos! I guess we all have our moments, jack. Ah, well, what we don’t have is a whole lot of time. What’s happening with corinthos? Adjusting “well” to life on reduced medication? Well, it looks that way. Sonny’s isolated from his closest friends and family. The only one he trusts is ava jerome. I heard you were being transferred. I wanted to see you before that happened. How are you? Incarcerated. Besides that. I’m alright. Resigned to my fate… I suppose. Helps that nothing’s waiting for me on the outside. And you? I’M… …doing well. That’s it? Did you expect more? My mother told me you’re living with sonny. Ohh. Ah. Yeah. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t the least bit curious. What’s going on there? Well, it started as a safety precaution after the break-in at wyndemere. Never known you to be afraid of the dark. I do have a daughter to protect. Yeah, a daughter that you share with sonny. That’s right. You said it started as a safety precaution, so… what is it now? Hm. Why am I discussing this with you? Because I’m safe. Trapped in here with nothing to gain. Or trapped in here with nothing to lose. There’s always something to lose. I think we both learned that the hard way. My relationship with sonny has… …evolved, let’s say. Hm. For the worse? The better? Best it’s ever been.

Recent betrayals have left sonny feeling hurt and alone. And he’s found in me somebody he can trust. And we support each other. We rely on each other. Are you in love with sonny corinthos? No. Why? Are you jealous? Always. I mean, do I find him attractive? Yes. And I’m not saying that my feelings won’t change in the future, but, for now, I’m just happy to be on the same side. Must be nice for avery. Yes! It is. Honestly, I’ve never seen her so happy. She’s got both her parents. We’re all living together under the same roof. And she’s loving it. And as for me, you know, I’m used to skating on such thin ice with sonny, always this close to a custody battle. It’s such a relief to not constantly be bracing for that. Makes sense. Why do you say it like that? Like what? Like you’re not completely sold. Oh, I’m sold. I get that you like not fighting with sonny and that it’s healthy for avery and blah, blah, blah. But that is not the part that you get off on the most. Well, do tell. You like being in the inner sanctum, in sonny’s coveted “circle of trust.” You’re the one he leans on, the one he confides in… the one he believes. Damn right, I do. I’ve had other offers throughout the year. Other people wanting to buy you back your half of the hotel? Yeah. Sonny. My son, michael. Even nina reeves offered to sell it back to me in the name of “peace” — so she said. I’m guessing you weren’t feeling that peaceful towards nina reeves? Uh, no. And the ex-husband, I get. But why not accept the offer from your son? Because! I didn’t want to expose michael to scrutiny from the sec. Not that they would find anything, but I didn’t want to put him through that kind of an investigation. It was bad enough when it happened to me. I’m guessing you already know all about this. Just ’cause I’m fbi doesn’t mean I’m familiar with every federal charge ever filed. But you are familiar with that one. Yeah. So you know the ending, right? I messed up, I lost my hotel, and I was going to do everything in my power to get it back on my terms. But that — but that just brings me back to my original question. You weren’t able to accept charity, for lack of a better term, from sonny or nina or michael. How were you able to accept it from jason? Because taking my hotel back wasn’t for me. It was for him. Sonny’s on one-quarter of his bipolar medication, and no one has any idea. I’ve got to hand it to you, val. The strategy is simple, effective, hard to detect. If this were a project back when we were trainees, they’d steal your idea and put it in a textbook. However, we have a rather bigger, rather more pressing problem than sonny. Jason morgan, also known as alan jacobs. Spent years at pikeman, therefore knows too much. Yeah, and I’m sure by now you’ve been back through his file and double-checked our screening process. How did morgan get a job at pikeman in the first place? Who messed up and where? The short answer is no one messed up — because alan jacobs’ history checks out. I mean, supporting documents. His outstanding record of military service. Everything seems legitimate. That’s troubling. Someone went through a lot of trouble to put jason morgan in pikeman. Someone capable of manipulating government records. Could be a business rival. There’s a couple of other security firms have that kind of tech. So sabotage pikeman from within and steal our clients? Yeah, it’s plausible. Except for morgan himself. Why would he take the job? What was his — his incentive? Well, jason has always had blind faith in sonny corinthos. It’s kind of a defining character trait. Right. So what would make him disappear on sonny? Not money. He was born a quartermaine. So if morgan wasn’t paid to infiltrate pikeman, what if he was coerced? Yeah, but who could coerce a man like that? Who could deliver flawless credentials? The answer has three letters. Only the question is… which ones? Drew : Yours is such animportant story, willow, and thank goodness it has a happy ending. I really — I hope you’ll consider coming on board. Wow. I…

[ Exhales sharply ] Uh, willow’s a private person. She may not want to share her story with the world, even if it is for a-a worthy cause. I mean, I completely understand. I would n– I mean, I don’t want to pressure you. I-I definitely don’t want you to feel uncomfortable in any way. Oh, no. Ii know that. And I am so honored that you thought of me. Well, you’re the only person I thought of.

[ Exhales sharply ] Can I get back to you? I promise I won’t take too long. Absolutely. Take as much time as you need. Because while, yes, I do value my privacy, the fact is… my life was saved by my great-aunt liesl and her bone-marrow donation, and I will be eternally grateful for that gift. It allowed me to be a mother to my children, a wife to my husband. I want to increase the odds of that happening for everyone. Drew, we have a problem, and I need you to do something…

I don’t think thatwe should talk about that. Oh, my god. It is true. Yeah. Dex, I’m so sorry. You’re not responsible for your father. No, but I — I feel so stupid and naive. I mean, I know my dad worked outside the law, but I can’t believe he would put you in that position. Makes you feel any better, it surprised me, too. Can I ask you another question? Sure. In the time that you’ve worked with my dad, has he seemed different, in the end, than he was in the beginning? Uh, I know that’s vague. No, no. I get what you mean. Yeah, uh, towards the end, sonny was more volatile, quicker to fly off the handle. Paranoid? Yeah. After the attack in puerto rico, he was convinced there was a traitor inside his organization. Didn’t take him long to decide that it was me, and after that, there was no changing his mind. Okay. So it was after the shooting in puerto rico. Yeah, he’d always been volatile, but that’s when it flipped to paranoia. Right when ava moved in.

[ Groans ] Kristina? Is something wrong? Jason thinks that I wouldn’t have lost the hotel to begin with if he had been here. Do you agree? Probably. I mean, it’s not jason’s fault. Something was obviously keeping him away. I mean, he’s been through something. Jason told you that? No, I can see it in his eyes. And now that he’s back home, there’s so much that he can’t get back or make up for. But this hotel, you know, it’s the one thing he could fix. So you swallowed your pride and let him. Oh! [ Chuckles ] Don’t get me wrong. I am thrilled to have the hotel back. But I wouldn’t have accepted it from anyone else. You took it from jason. For him. Yeah. And I’d do it again. Enjoy your hotel, carly. Enjoy your stay, agent cates. My defenses were up because I thought that someone was targeting me. Jason: Somebody was targeting you. Yeah, not that night, though. When I got back to the apartment, I could see that someone had opened the door. And I entered. And there was a figure standing there in the dark rifling through my things. And they turned toward me with something in their hand. And I fired. You did what your instincts were telling you to do. You wouldn’t have done that. Anna, you don’t know that. Yeah, I do. You wouldn’t have entered an apartment that was dark and fired at a target that you couldn’t see clearly. I-I wasn’t there. It’s impossible to say what would’ve or wouldn’t have happened. Y-you just can’T. It’s really hard for me to accept, you know, that that happened. And every time it flashes in my mind, I just try to block it out. I sh– mnh. I shot a child, jason. I’m sorry. You should feel sorry for charlotte. I feel sorry for you, too. Had to be tough to live through that. I’m really glad charlotte’s okay. Oh, god. Me too. I don’t know what I would’ve done if she hadn’t made it. Anyway… so, what I’m saying is that it’s impossible for me to — to look at valentin and not think about his daughter. You see, to me, he is a father first and a person of interest second. In which case…

[ Sighs ] …I think I’m putting this entire investigation at risk. I fear we’ve caught the interest of a government agency. Fbi, cia, nsa. Mi5? Yeah. The only one we can be sure it’s not is the wsb. They don’t want to investigate pikeman. They want to keep it running just the way it has for decades. Do you think the cia put jason in pikeman? I think we’d be idiots not to consider that possibility. And morgan’s perfect. He’s got the right skill set, but he’s not an agent.

[ Scoffs ] I mean, you know… if we hadn’t had the blind good luck to assign morgan to an op in his own hometown, we’d never have tripped to him. And you think that’s good luck? Well, any luck’s good if you know how to play it. Now that we know an intelligence firm is coming after us… we can adjust accordingly. Jack, this is gonna have to be our last face-to-face. There can be nothing linking me to you. Right. And we still have to tie off morgan. Well, I think we may have gotten a break there. ‘Cause jason and sonny are currently at odds. Yeah? How bad? On a scale from creative differences to all-out war? From sonny’s perspective, the latter. And with him erratic… and angry? We eliminate jason and pin it on sonny.

I’m sorry. I-I didn’t know that you were here. -It’s fine. -We were just leaving. Um, I will get back to you with an answer as soon as possible. Like I said, no rush. And thank you again so much for thinking of me. Willow barely said a word to me. Because we were in the middle of a meeting, nina. Did you see her smile just a little? Maybe I could call — no. You know what? I think texting is more appropriate. I think you should give willow some space. Now, what was so important that you had to barge into my office without knocking again? Well, carly is giving me a hard time about doing standard maintenance on my office.

[Chuckling] Really? I wonder where she got that idea from. Remember, drew, we are on the same team. In what world am I on the same team as you? One where carly and jason screwed us both over. So what’s the plan? For? Payback. Everything’s fine. Are you sure? Because things looked a little tense. Yeah, no. It’s fine. The baby was just kicking, and… I asked dex if what you told me about my dad was true. Oh. You were right. Well, for the record, I wish I wasn’T. And looking back, I certainly did not have to tell you the way that I did. Well, I should probably get going, so… it’s good to see you. Dex. Wait. I like it. Thought you might. But you need to tread carefully and make it look convincing. Otherwise, anna will totally be onto you. I heard she came to see you. Hm. She wanted to know all about pikeman. She seemed to think that somehow I’d know who was running the show. And what did you tell her? I gave her nothing. But anna’s closing in, val. You know, we can take precautions against the nsa or whoever it is that has pikeman under scrutiny. But our defenses against anna are limited. She knows us both. She knows our history. She was there when we stole the money to fund pikeman. Now, all she has to do is put those pieces together. And she’s plenty smart enough to do that. She’s already come to see me to talk about pikeman. She asked me about your involvement. And I stonewalled. And she believed you? Of course. Trust me. Anna’s not gonna be a problem. Every instinct in my body is just screaming that valentin is more involved in pikeman than he is saying. But for the reasons that I’ve just outlined, when I question him, I come up empty. I just — I-I think I’m incapable of being objective. Oh, and this is — this is where I come in? Mm-hmm. Yeah. You’re, uh, good at rational thinking, yeah? That’s what I hear. And I’m just wondering maybe you can get a read on valentin? ‘Cause he’s not going to be suspicious of you as he would be of me. Right. Look. I’ll do anything I can to help you. Thank you. But… you may not trust your own judgment. I do. And I always will. Thank you. I have a lead for you. Great. What? Well, dex confirmed for me that sonny did, in fact, take that shipment from pikeman. Yeah, I got my own reasons to talk to this guy dex. I’ll follow up, and I’ll see if he knows anything about valentin. And I’ll always be here for backup. I know. John: Jason!

[ Scoffs ] Oh, look. The gang’s all here. Except — wait. You’re missing a member. Well, we were just discuss– I don’t care what you were doing here. The investigation into pikeman has stalled. Care to explain why?

Your head’s not in the game. Throwing money around. Buying the metro court for carly spencer? Just because you’re back in port charles with access to your bank accounts does not make you a free man. Understood. I want an update on pikeman — now. There’s nothing to report right now. Now, you listen up, morgan. Either you figure out a way to give me what I want… or carly will lose the hotel — again — because she will be up on rico charges. Oh, hi! My two favorite people! I mean, you really enjoyed getting even with me. Why are you letting carly and jason off the hook? Carly and jason didn’t send me to prison. If you weren’t sent away, drew, then you and carly would have been married by the time jason came back home. And how humiliating would that have been? Oh, I see. So — so you actually saved me from divorce. That’s right. So do you want me to thank you? What I want right now doesn’t really require any words. Oh, is it too much for you, drew? It wasn’t my place to say anything to kristina, but at the time, I was just very scared of what sonny might do to you, and I thought that if I told kristina, it would help. You’re not scared anymore? No, I think that you’re gonna be just fine. Have you heard from the academy? Not yet. I’m sure you’ll get in. We’ll see. Pcpd would be lucky to have you. You really think so? I know so. All those years I spent with my nose pressed up against the window, on the outside looking in, despised, ridiculed by everybody in sonny’s orbit. Not nina. No. No. Not nina. But the collapse of sonny and nina was inevitable. I mean, she never had a chance of really understanding him. Not like i do. Because sonny wasn’t the man that she thought he was. Do you know what I’m really loving? What I’m really tickled pink about? Is that finally carly is getting a taste of her own medicine. Hm. Now we’re getting somewhere. Glaring down her nose at reprehensible, despicable ava jerome, repeatedly slamming the door in my face. Well, guess who’s in charge of entry now. You. Me. And she can be the ousted traitor. I’m the trusted confidant. Sonny makes you feel powerful. Yeah. Yeah. But I am helping him, too. How so? Sonny is on a quarter dose of his medication. Did you arrange it? No. No. Absolutely not. And I have to find out who’s responsible. In the meantime, I know that sonny is vulnerable, and I’m watching out for him. Whoa. Whoa, whoa, whoa. You’re saying that y-you haven’t told sonny?

I hope you’re right about the police academy. We both know I have a lot to make up for. Look, if I’ve come off as some perfect angel, I know that I’m not. I have done things that I’m not proud of. And…I don’t even know why I did them. I just know that they didn’t make me feel like me. Does that make sense? Makes a lot of sense. There is a scale, joss. Bad things you’ve done. There’s some bad things that I’ve done. I’m not trying to compare. I’m just saying that I know that I’ve messed up, too. So I shouldn’t stand in judgment of anybody else. And that includes you. No, I haven’t told sonny. Why not? N-never mind. I think I know. You like quarter-medicated sonny, don’t you? He’s receptive to you in a way he’s never been before. We’re getting along very well, yes. Getting along? Playing house, ava. Well, as long as I’m watching out for sonny, what’s the downside? How much time do you got? If sonny finds out what’s wrong and that you knew? Look, if he even suspects that you had a hand in this… well, I didn’T. But you didn’t try and fix it. Okay? Sonny’s not rational. You’re playing with real fire here. You almost sound like you care. You know I do. And yet you always underestimate me. I know what I’m doing. God, I hope so. Do you think I wouldn’t be good at it?

[ Chuckles ] No, I think — actually, no, i know that you’d be amazing with whatever you put your mind to. I just — I don’t want you to feel obligated, willow. That’s all. If you do decide to take the job, just make sure it’s what you — what you really want. Well, drew told me I could think on it. So that’s what I’m gonna do. Okay. Carly stays free as long as you do what the fbi asks of you. Are we clear?

[ Exhales heavily ] Clear. Good. Now… we both know you spent years running contraband through here. I suggest you renew your contacts and find out how pikeman is moving their shipments through port charles and when they plan to do it again. I do what I have to to get the results I need. Anna: Maybe. But I can tell you don’t like yourself very much when you treat jason like that. It doesn’t matter how any of us feel about it. What matters is we get it done. Don’t worry, jack. I know how to play anna. You better be right. For her sake. I like anna. I always have. But the wsb has too much invested in pikeman. Okay? If she threatens that… take a wild guess what’s gonna happen to her. Nothing’s gonna happen. Yeah. If you want to protect her, val, really, you want to keep her safe, keep your distance. The more time you spend with anna, the greater the risk you’ll give yourself away. That’s all the time I have for you, jack. I need to get going.

I love your lasagna. Everybody here loves your lasagna, but this situation is madness. You are running yourself ragged at the hotel, and then you are condemning everybody in this house to life in leftover manor. Clearly, it is time to hire a cook. Bite your tongue. Told you I was fine. I know. You keep saying that. And my doctor agrees. Last night’s little episode — the temporary paralysis. Temporary. Yes. I’ve made a full recovery. Is — is violet here? I don’t want to argue in front of her. No, no, she’s still at school. We’re not arguing, dad. I’m just looking out for you. You, uh — you need to lie down? No, the couch is fine. And — and don’t worry. I’ll take it easy the rest of the day. Now, aren’t you needed at the hospital? Dad. I think we’ve reached a point where you shouldn’t be left alone for long periods of time. What exactly are you saying? I think we should consider an in-home caregiver. Just in case anything like last night happens again. Mom. Got a minute? For you, always. [ Chuckles ] How do you feel about living with sonny? Did I hear my name?

[ Chuckling ] Oh, yes. Hi, sonny. What’s up? Uh, I need your help. B-both of you. Really? With what? Yeah, I-I want to commission one of your artists to, uh, create a piece so I can donate it — you ready for this? — To the city. What makes you think the city would be interested in that?

I appreciate your perspective. I realize that I have been a little overbooked lately. A little? I can feed my family. You need to face facts, olivia. You are spreading yourself too thin. You have reduced your son to eating “snackeroos” and peanut butter a la yuri. Okay. Carly’s back at the metro court, and — you’re missing the point! The quartermaine family has always had a cook. We need one. You trying to kick me out of my own kitchen?

[ Chuckles ] It’s “monica’s kitchen. Ugh. Alan gave it to her.” And you are not staff. You are a quartermaine. You live here, you don’t work here. And while I definitely admire your concerted effort, you cannot be responsible for feeding this family. I’m calling an agency. I’m getting referrals. No! I will agree to a cook… but only if I hire the cook. I’m co-owner of the metro court again. How did that happen? Nina sold her half. Wow. Well, congratulations. Thank you. I’m really happy for you. I-I’m just caught off-guard. Nina never told me anything about selling. Well, I think it happened pretty quickly. So…does that mean you would consider working for me? Of course I would consider it. I really appreciate the offer. But it’s not what you’re looking for, is it? I don’t know. I’m — I’m trying to look around and see what feels right. Yeah. I’ve been there. But you know what does feel right? You back here at the metro court.

[ Laughs ] Yes. And nina at crimson. Better there than here, yes.

[ Laughs ] I’m going to take these to a customer. Please, if you need anything, let me know. I’m happy to help. Thank you. I will. And I will definitely keep this place in mind. Thanks. Josslyn and krissy had another blow-up, and this time, josslyn had some very specific things to say about sonny. Kristina has very big feelings about her father. He’s her hero. Nobody knows that better than I do. I think that’s really why kristina was so upset, because deep down, she knows that the things josslyn was saying are true. And we talked, and she was calmer by the time she left. But then when tj found out that she’d come over so late and how wound up she’d gotten, now tj’s worried that all the stress is going to hurt our baby. And what did you say? I tried to defend kristina’s feelings. I mean, it is upsetting. I can’t even imagine, but there are other things to consider. The stress can’t be good for kristina or the baby. It certainly isn’t good for tj. Or you. It’s gotten to the point where prosecuting criminals is how I relax.

[ Chuckles ] Been there. So, I was hoping… could you talk to kristina? There are caregivers out there that can keep a low profile. There should be a babysitter when I’m alone with violet — for violet. Not for me. What if violet hadn’t been here last night? What if she hadn’t gotten you your ventilator? I knew something was wrong, and I asked violet to get the ventilator for me. If I had been alone, I would have called 911. And if that same paralysis had hit, and you were unable to dial? Well, fortunately, I’m not quite there yet. No, not — not this time. What about the next time? Because you and I both know it will happen again. And the time after that and the time after that. I don’t need to think about the time after that yet. I just need to be ready for the next time, and I will be, son. I promise. Dad? You know that’s not good enough. You know, I know we’re in your gallery, but couldn’t I have a moment alone with sonny? Yeah. By all means. It’s just you and me, laura. What’s on your mind?

Understand if you can’t seemy point of view, but… maybe you can see violet’S. I’ve never seen her more scared than what she was last night. Think about that. Put yourself in her shoes, watching her grandfather collapse. Running to get his ventilator. Watching him lie on the sofa unable to move. What do you think that did to her? So is violet afraid to be alone with me now? No. She’s not. She probably never will be. She loves you. She — she wants to spend all the time with you that she possibly can. What if things had been worse? But they weren’T. No. No, not this time. What about next time? What happens if you start to aspirate or collapse or convulse or pass out completely? Knowing violet, she’d probably try to save you. And if she couldn’t, she’d blame herself. I would never allow that to happen. At the risk of being the devil’s advocate, how would you stop it, dad? Look, we have a responsibility to make sure violet feels safe in her own home, right? That’s emotional blackmail. I know! It’s also the reality. It’s the reality that we have to accept. The bottom line, dad, is you need help. And when I’m not here, you need a caregiver. Period. Or what? Oh. Sasha.

[ Gasps ] Olivia, hi. This is perfect. Uh, you got a second? I do, yeah. What’s up? Okay. Well, first of all, I want to thank you for saving my neck the other day with the shepherd’s pie. Oh. It was absolutely delicious. Dante won’t stop talking about it. Frankly, I’m getting a little bit jealous. Well, I am very happy to give you the recipe. It’s one of those dishes that once you make it a couple of times, you can start to play around with it and add your own touches. Right. Right, right. Well, I do want the recipe. I can’t wait to make it. Uh, and that leads me to what I actually want to talk to you about. Um, ever since the last cook left at the quartermaines, I have been doing all the cooking. And when I get very busy, which does happen sometimes, the family’s sort of left to fend for themselves. So I’ve had to accept that — okay, it’s been pointed out to me that it’s time for the quartermaines to hire a new chef. You know, fend for themselves means different things to different people, like for — for leo and monica, it means that yuri makes eggs for breakfast and peanut butter sandwiches for lunch. Carly. May I have a moment?

[ Exhales slowly ] That depends. What’s it about? I got to find someone that I can work with, you know? I won’t go back — I cannot go back to the days when the quartermaines were banned from the kitchen, you know? I mean, b-before cook three left, I don’t think tracy knew where the kitchen was.

[ Laughs ] Well, that tracks. Yeah, I-I love cooking for my family. You know that. You know, I actually find it very, uh, therapeutic almost, you know? I feel the same way. There are people who find joy in life because of the labor intensity of my lasagna. Okay? Cooking to me has always been, I don’t know, peaceful. Grounding. Yeah. Yes. Uh, maybe it’s because I always cooked with my grandmother. Oh. The times that I spent in the kitchen with her, it’s — it’s definitely what I miss the most about her. Aww. You really loved her. Still do. And you love cooking through her, huh?

[ Chuckles ] Yeah. I guess I do. And you’re good at it. So what do you say? Women have earthquake hormones during pregnancy. Right? So they live through it. Babies ride through it. I know that intellectually. It’s just — I know you’re worried. I know you’re terrified. Pretty much. But on bright side, you know how thrilled your sister is to do this for you. And she is oddly thrilled about the ups and downs of the pregnancy. I am so grateful to kristina for doing this, and I love how excited she is about it. I really do. But there’s something more. So what is it besides josslyn’s crusade? Well, this would just all be a lot easier if tj could relax a little. I mean, kristina’s emotions go to 11 over sonny, and then tj’s go to 11 over kristina. And I can imagine tj’s 11 is a lot different than your sister’S. Well, yeah, ’cause he’s always been so even-keeled. Whatever that means. I think it has something to do with boats. Never mind. Go on. So when he’s this upset, it doesn’t look like a lot, but if you know him… it’s seismic. Yeah, and when he’s upset, I get upset. And then I start to maybe think that this is actually all my fault, because tj has spent years and years listening to my side of my arguments and disagreements with my sister. And so maybe because of that, tj doesn’t trust kristina. Sonny, what’s behind this latest burst of philanthropy? It’s for my kids. I mean, you know, port charles has always been their home, and if they visit, um, city hall and they see something beautiful that I donated, then they could feel as proud of the city as I do. And proud of you? And what if, one day, your little girls find out that you nearly beat a man to death with your bare hands, do you think it’s all going to be okay because you donated art? Why — why — why would you ask me that? Laura, w-we’ve been friends for how many years? And you’re gonna — you’re gonna turn on me?

I don’t think that tj thinks krissy is a bad person or that she would ever do anything to intentionally harm the baby. Molly, of course not. But she is who she is. And he is who he is. And the two of them, they are emotional opposites. That they are. Tj and i are both just so excited and nervous to be parents, and we’re just treating every bump in the road like it’s this huge mountain to overcome, but there are bound to be bumps. Oh, there are, and there will be. And kristina has every right to be worried about her father. But I just — I don’t know how she’s gonna handle it if things get worse for sonny. What did he do now?

[ Sighs ] Will you just check in with kristina? Do I have to? Please? Okay. Thank you. I got to get back to work. You want me to take that down? No, no, no, no, I got it. You go. Okay. I love you, mom.

[ Chuckles ] That’s so good, ’cause I love you, too. Ah. I see finn called in reinforcements. No, not this time. Should he have? Well, am I expected to believe you’re not here to check on me?

[ Chuckles ] That’s a ridiculous question. Of course I’m here to check on you. That’s what friends do. Are you trying to pick a fight with me? No. I’m not. You sure? I’m sorry, I just — I saw my doctor today. What’d he say? That I’m back to what passes for normal for me these days. Huh. No expert, but that sounds like good news. It is. But it’s not good enough for my son. No, no, finn is insisting that I hire an in-home caregiver to monitor me. That sounds sensible to me. It’s not sensible. It’s overreacting. And it’s not gonna happen. How about what? You — you want me to help you interview potential cooks? No! I want you to be the new cook. Me? Yes! Wow, that’s the second job offer today. What? Uh, never mind. Okay, okay, here’s what I need. I need someone to do breakfasts, lunches, including school lunches for the endless parade of kids going through that house, and dinners on weeknights. I will do dinners on weekends and any other time that I want, but I promise I will give you a proper heads-up. And, honey, I know. I know that cooking for the quartermaines is not the same as, you know, cooking for yourself, but I promise you that everyone will be very patient with you while you get used to the job. So what do you think? Wow. I mean, I know it’s a lot to take in. I know. Yeah, it is. I never thought I would end up in a kitchen again. Again? There’s a electrical problem in my office. Really? We can’t have that. What kind of electrical problem? We’ve been experiencing random surges. Have you? That’s terrible. And it’s been happening more and more frequently. Funny. That never used to happen until the “emergency maintenance” the previous co-owner ordered for no apparent reason. The reason was flooding. And yet nothing was wet. But you’re having an electrical issue. So you know what I’m gonna do? I’m gonna hire the contractors you used since you liked their workmanship so much. Great. As long as the problem is addressed. Oh, one more thing, carly. Jason may have bought the metro court back for you, but the person you should really be thanking is… ava. I don’t see how trying to tell you the truth means that I’ve turned against you. Okay. Fine. You want the truth? I’m just saying I think that’s the least you’re going to owe your kids. Okay, do you tell your kids the truth about everything? Well, the important things, I really try. Alright. Let’s say donna and avery come to me one day and they say, “dad, hey, look, why’d you beat that guy up?” I’m going to say that I lost my temper. I had my reasons, but I regret my actions. Is that okay? You know, it’s just that I haven’t really seen any evidence of that regret, sonny. Well, you and I both know that cyrus is not a victim. Yeah, I know what he’s capable of. I do. That’s the thing. I-I don’t think you do. He belongs in prison till the day he meets his maker. Do you really think you’re in a position to judge, to judge who deserves to be behind bars and who doesn’t? Since when do you care about cyrus? He’s been your brother, what, five minutes? It’s because of what you did to him. You and I are family. We’re blood. Connected through spencer and rocco. Yes, I know. That’s true, but that has nothing to do with this, sonny. I don’t even know why we’re talking about this. What we’re talking about is — sonny, what we’re talking about is a lifetime of crime and violence that I have looked past time and again, and I can’t do it anymore. I just can’T. Okay? And… I can’t turn a blind eye anymore to your business. The things that you’ve done, the crimes, the people you’ve hurt… people that you’ve killed. And putting a wing on the hospital and donating art to the city, it doesn’t just make all of that go away. Okay? They still happened. They’re still there. They matter. They matter. It doesn’t just disappear because you did your daily good deed.

Okay, what does ava have to do with jason buying the metro court? I didn’t accept the offer right away. I talked it over with ava first, and she led me to believe that sonny would like it if I sold the metro court to his best friend. Well, she sandbagged you. Ava was standing right there when sonny called jason a traitor and threw us both out of the penthouse. Yeah, I figured that, after the deal was done — too late to change my mind. Well, it’s a pattern with ava. She uses people until they’re no longer useful. That’s what she did with my son. In the end, all ava cares about is getting what she wants. Well, in ava’s defense, not everyone has a jason to get her what she wants. Like losing a hotel fair and square. So much for you earning the metro court back on your own. Hello? Yeah, come on in. Oh, hi. This a bad time? I hope so. If not, I’d have nothing to report. Hey, look, I’m really sorry to bother you at work. I just, I was on my way to a meeting, and I — just, uh — what — uh — what’s going on? My father had a seizure last night. No. Resulted in a sort of temporary paralysis. Oh, god. He’s okay. My dad’s okay. Sit, please. Alexis, when I walked in, and I saw him lying there unable to move, and violet beside him, terrified, not knowing what was going on — is she okay? I think seeing her grandfather collapse and just lying there, and she had to run and get his ventilator, I think it’s something she’ll never forget. But right now, she’s as good as can be expected. How is gregory? His als is… progressing rapidly, but my dad — you know, I get it. He wants to be — he wants to be independent. He wants to make up for all those risks he never got to take in life, jumping out of airplanes and whatever it is that makes him feel alive, but — but. I, uh… I talked to him today, and I told him that I — I think we need to get some sort of in-home help when I’m not there, and he just flat-out refused, and we had this big argument. I’m sorry. I’m not shocked, but I am sorry. Yeah, me, too. You know, and I get it, and I’m trying to do — I am. I’m trying to do everything I can to support him. But at some point, I have to put my daughter first. The day is coming when I will be completely helpless, when I’ll need people taking care of my every need, my every bodily function, watching over me all the time, every single moment, but I am not there yet. You’re not. Far from it. Thank you. So why is it such a sin for me to hold on to what little autonomy I can for as long as I can? It’s not. Okay. You’re being very agreeable. I find it suspect.

[ Laughs ] You have every right to hold on to your autonomy as long as you possibly can. Thank you. Just as finn has every right to have a safe emotional environment for his daughter. He can’t risk violet finding you unable to move or worse. You’re not telling me anything that finn hasn’t told me already. Good. Then I assume he’s already asked you the obvious question. And what question is that? What is more important to you? Your pride, or your granddaughter’s well-being? What am I supposed to do, laura? Confess to everything I’ve been accused of? Well, that depends. How many of the things you’ve been accused of are true? Well, I’ve done far less than cyrus. I can tell you that right now. Yeah, but cyrus’ crimes don’t absolve yours. He held you at gunpoint. Wha– and I’m the bad guy? I —

[ Sighs ] I think there are two bad guys. I’m sorry. You know, you showed me that by what you did to him. What I do is I do everything I can to protect my business, my family, and everybody that I care about. And guess what, laura? That includes you. You know why? Why? Because — so the bad guys don’t come after you. Yeah. Well, being a-a good man when you’re not committing a crime doesn’t absolve you from the times that you do commit a crime. And being really good at covering up your tracks does not make you less guilty. At some point, sonny, at some point, you have to be held accountable. By who, laura? Think of your children. Okay? Your little girls, donna and avery. What’s going to happen when they get old enough to figure out what their father does for a living? And they will. You’re not going to be able to keep that from him. What are you going to say, sonny? I’m going to do what I always do. Do everything in my power… …to protect them. Yeah, I know you will. But who’s going to protect them from you?

I worked as a line cook and a part-time chef a few summers in the hamptons. I’m telling you. Sasha, this was meant to be! I was never, never the head chef. I was the substitute sous chef when the real sous was out. But you worked in a busy restaurant. So cooking for the quartermaines is gonna be a piece of cake. I mean, you know, an overly ornate, five-tier pain in the butt kind of piece of cake. But still, it’s a piece of cake.

[ Chuckles ] Olivia, this is really, really flattering. But are you sure that you want to offer me a job based on one shepherd’s pie? Honey, you love to cook. You’re a great cook. We need a cook. It’s a match made in heaven. Or a opening in the universe, depending on your spiritual beliefs. Not to mention the fact that cody shows up for dinner several nights a week, and I’m sure he wouldn’t mind having you around. Tell me that I’m wrong. Tell me that I shouldn’t just give in to him and give him everything that he wants. I can’t tell you that. And I want to give him everything he wants. I do. I mean, listen. Go parasailing, you know? Go get shot out of a cannon. Go into space and see earth from orbit, alright? Let’s do all of these things. I’ll do them with you. But I don’t think my dad can do those things right now. So shouldn’t I just grant him this, give in to him, give him this one thing? Maybe. I mean, it’s certainly worth trying again to talk to him, but I don’t know that you’re going to end up with different results. You’re right. I’m — I’m going to go back and talk to him. Well, I-I thought you were going to a meeting. Yeah. Yeah. I-I can do that later. Okay, so when the oxygen mask drops from a plane, what do you do?

[ Sighs ] You — you put your mask on first, but this is — it is the same thing. This is as challenging as it gets, and in order for you to navigate through this, you’re going to have to take care of yourself, which means taking care of your sobriety. I-I know what you’re saying. I do. I get it, but in this moment, that just feels so selfish. Then be selfish. Can your dad wait for an hour for you to go to a meeting? I’m not sure. What do the doctors think? Probably. I don’t know. Listen. I understand your father’s need to hold on to his autonomy for as long as he can. But I also know that nothing is more important to him than violet. I never want violet to be afraid the way she was last night. I was scared, too. When something like that happens, you never know when it’s going to end, if ever. But even while I was trying to stay calm, the worst part was knowing that I couldn’t comfort my granddaughter. How do you think she felt, not able to comfort you? I understand what you’re saying. I do. But you and finn need to understand what I’m saying. Okay. There is another solution. Great. I’m all ears. First, you have to decide what’s most important to you. If it is, in fact, spending the time that you have left with finn and violet here in their home, then you have to abide by finn’s wishes. But if your independence is your top priority, then you simply move into an assisted living facility. Turning woods is supposed to be really nice, and you can have violet visit you there. Look, I didn’t intend for us to have this conversation here today, and I really didn’t mean for it to go like this, either. I hope you’ll take some of what I said to heart, sonny, please. Just think about it. Just think about doing the right thing. Okay. At any rate, uh, the city of port charles will not be accepting your donation of art. Not while I’m the mayor. What happened to laura?

[Panting] E the time at your meetingto give your dad some time to think things through. And then talk to him again, tell him that you and chase and violet are worried about him and want him to have someone to take care of him when you can’t be there. And I think sooner rather than later, he will see your wisdom. Here’s hoping. And whether he does or not, you cannot take care of your family until you take care of yourself first. Yeah. That’s good advice. Yeah, I’m good. I’m good.

[ Laughs ] You are. In fact, I’m so good, I’m gonna follow my own advice. Hmm? Would you like company at your meeting? I’d love it. Gregory: You’re good. Oh, you’re going to have to narrow that down a little bit. The art of persuasion. Oh, that. Obviously, if I have to choose between turning woods and here, even with a caregiver, of course I choose here. Gregory, that’s not persuasion. That’s just common sense. And by the way, if I were in your shoes, I would be handling this much, much worse. I wouldn’t sit for it. I wouldn’t stay. I’d run away to the far corners of the earth where my family can’t find me, to help me, to care for me. And no matter how miserable and lonely I got, I’d still have my dignity and my freedom. And no one to share it with. But luckily, you, my friend, are so much smarter than I am. You, tracy quartermaine, are the smartest woman I know. I can’t say it isn’t tempting. I left deception because i wasn’t satisfied there anymore. I want something completely different from what I’ve been doing. And working as a chef for the quartermaines would definitely be different. Honey, look, I don’t want to pressure you. Of course not. But I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you that this was a live-in position, which means that you would get free room and board in a beautiful mansion with all meals included. So I’ll get to eat what I make. Better. You get to eat what i make. And get paid for it. Come on, sasha. What do you say? I say… it’s exactly what I need right now.

[ Both laugh ] Other than fixing electrical issues that you brought on yourself, is there anything else I can do for you? I might as well just tell you. I signed the divorce papers. Sonny and i are no longer married. But ava is closer to him than ever. And from one ex-wife to another, I don’t think ava is good for sonny. In fact… I think that she could be toxic for him. I don’t agree with you on much, but I do agree with you there. She doesn’t want my gift to the city. Oh. Yeah. Well, I was surprised by laura’s reaction at first, but I thought you could talk her into it. Public art benefits everybody. Not when it comes from the wrong person, I guess. Since when are you the wrong person? You have been unfailingly generous to the city of port charles. There are wings at the hospital and playgrounds in the park because of you. Doesn’t matter to laura. She can’t get past what I did to cyrus. Does she know that he provoked you? That he orchestrated his own beating? It wasn’t your fault, sonny. She thinks it was. I owned up to it, and now she wants to punish me. I’ve been good to laura. I’ve been good to laura for — for so many years. And she’s, you know, I thought she was loyal to me, but… guess not.

[ Exhales heavily ] I’m sorry I interrupted. That sounded important. Oh, everything’s important right now. I’m sorry that my timing wasn’t better. Oh, no, no, your timing is perfect. Just ask ace. Right, ace?

[ Laughs ] Maybe he can fix the budget.

[ Both laugh ]

[ Yawns ] I thought you left before I got up and that’s why your side of the bed was empty. Not this time. What happened? Kristina came over late last night after brook lynn’s bridal shower bachelorette bash. Mm-hmm. She and josslyn got into a fight, and she was so mad, she was practically levitating when she got here. I didn’t want to disturb you after she left, so I just crashed out here. I don’t love the fact that kristina was out late and emotionally stressed. Well, it isn’t an every night thing for her. Brook lynn’s shower was a special occasion. I get that, but, I mean, is it — it’s reasonable, right, to expect a pregnant woman to change her habits somewhat? And she has, tj. You know, did you expect kristina to sit at home every night for nine months? Of course not, no. Kristina has to live her life. Brook lynn’s shower was a big deal, and she shouldn’t have missed it. Yeah. It sounds like the party was actually a lot of fun until she and josslyn got into it. Look, I hate to be the pregnancy police, but it worries me that kristina got so worked up. Carly: I am so happy and thrilled to be back with the best team in the business. I just thought you might want to know I ran into your daughter last night. Put in a good word for you. You saw willow? What exactly did you tell her? Well, I didn’t want her to get suspicious, so I kept it short and sweet, but… just figured you might need a boost after selling your half of the hotel and getting it back into carly’s hands. Well, here’s what’s gonna happen. If I fix it that means you’re out of a job.

[ Knock on door ] Bad time? Uh… no, it’s never a bad time when I see you. Mm, well, you may not feel that way when you see who I found waiting outside.

I can’t imagine trying to run a city and raise a baby at the same time. Yeah. I, uh, never imagined it this way, either. Sometimes I feel like I’m not doing either one of these things very well. I don’t know. For a baby that’s been through so many huge changes, ace looks pretty happy. So you must be doing something right. Oh, thank you for saying that, sweetie. I think I’m lucky that I can work from home whenever I need to. I’m also really lucky that jordan agreed to stay on as deputy mayor ’cause I could not do this without her. Where we going, darling?

[ Laughs ] You know, she’s my stealth weapon at city hall. Well, I think jordan’s probably like that wherever she works. Nobody sees her coming, and then when they do, it’s like, boom, it’s too late, you know?

[ Laughing ] Yes. I think it is true, absolutely true. But still, it’s kind of stressful because I’m trying to get the budget done… yeah. Nanny’s got the day off, and of course today’s the day that ace woke up on the wrong side of the crib and decided he didn’t like cereal at all. Well, maybe it doesn’t have to be that way. Oh, no, it won’t be. As soon as I get the budget done, it’s gonna get a lot easier for me. No, I mean maybe I can help.

[ Laughs ] I’d like it better if the surrogate carrying our baby was at home in bed instead of at a party, getting into a screaming fight with josslyn. A screaming fight? Okay, look, do I wish that kristina had been home in bed by 8:00 P.M. With a bottle of spring water in one hand, prenatal vitamins in the other, and a ruth bader ginsburg lecture streaming from her phone? Yes, that would be great. But it’s not gonna happen. I love the picture you painted, though. But it’s not a realistic picture. Not for saints who aren’t my sister, and that would make kristina miserable, which wouldn’t be good for the baby, either. No, it’d be bad for both of them. And, look, this wasn’t kristina’s fault. I mean, the alcohol was flowing and — wait. Kristina was drinking? No, no, no, no, no, no. Well, just — no. Of course not. Josslyn had been drinking. And after she’d had a couple, she just started going in on kristina about all the terrible things sonny has done. Okay, but are any of the things that josslyn said true? Do you talk about your patients? Fair enough. But kristina is an adult now, okay? She should have some idea about who and what sonny is by now. You would think so. But kristina is better than most at compartmentalizing. She knows he steps across the line every now and again, but the dad that she worships isn’t capable of flat-out cruelty. Look, sonny is not your dad. He’s not my dad. This one is not our problem. This is all kristina, okay? But it isn’T. Not really. Look, I know that it is a little late to bring this up now, but from the moment kristina offered to carry our baby, I’ve dreaded the day that we’d have to deal with sonny being in our lives. So, did sonny throw open his arms and let you run right in there? I have no idea what you’re talking about. It was so generous of you to sell your half the hotel to jason so that he could in turn give it to carly. Surely, sonny saw that selfless act and rewarded you accordingly. Wait. Did sonny not know that he was supposed to do that? I don’t know what sonny knows or what he thinks. Seems to be something missing. Two things, actually. Your wedding and engagement rings. I sold the hotel. I signed the divorce papers. I closed the chapter of my life that had anything to do with sonny. Happy? Good for you. That’s it? Expecting something else? Yeah, I was expecting you actually to leave, but since you’re still here, I assume that you want to gloat. So let’s hear it. And I’m very busy, so can you please give me your best shot, make it fast so I can get back to work? Sorry, I’m drawing a blank. If it’s true that misery loves company, then you and I really are made for each other. Nina’s back where she belongs, behind the desk at crimson. Yeah, that’s so great for crimson. I just know nina really did — she loved running the metro court, so I can’t imagine she gave this up without a fight. Yeah, well, no one forced her to sell. Her choice. Lot of money, though. How did you come up with the financing — okay, I’m gonna stop you right there. I’m not gonna discuss my finances with you. I’m sorry. It’s none of my business. No. It’s not. Yeah. Uh, but, um… my dad bought it back for you, right? No. And he wasn’t happy that I didn’t want him to help me. In fact, it got pretty heated. Really? That doesn’t sound like him. But it does now. Sonny’s always had a temper, but lately it’s gotten worse. He’s more reactive, more volatile. And honestly, ava’s a bad influence. Sonny: Why are you here? I need to speak with you. Yeah, we can talk if it’s about corinthos coffee business. No, it’s a non-business… family matter. Well, the thing is, since now you’re an fbi asset, an fbi asset has no connection to my family. How connected are you to your family these days?

it’s crazy. I — [ Sighs ] I thought I remembered everything, every moment, but, um, since I lost spencer, it seems like more memories come back every day. Yeah, I know what you mean. I hope the good ones outweigh the bad. When it comes to ace, they’re both. I see some of spencer in ace’s face. And spencer loved his little brother. But I also know that I wasn’t as supportive as I should have been. Well, I think that had everything to do with esme and nothing to do with ace. [ Door closes ] If you’re here to tell me you bought back carly’s half of the metro court to sign it over to her… I already know. And I don’t give a damn, so… what I do know is I can’t trust you and carly anymore. I know what you think about me. But you have a bigger problem. What’s that problem? Someone you still claim to care about. Well, I mean, maybe my dad has been a bit more on edge lately. But that makes perfect sense because of everything he just went through with nina, so… and it’s my dad.

[ Chuckling ] I mean, this is what people do. They exaggerate and they take one little thing that he did and they completely blow it up out of proportion. I was just at brook lynn’s shower, and josslyn was trying to tell me that my dad ordered dex to kill cyrus renault when he was in the hospital and helpless.

[ Sighs ] Kristina, your father and I have been divorced for a while now. I don’t know what he’s doing, and I don’t want to know. But I can tell you there are certain questions you don’t want to ask because you’re not gonna like the answers. What sonny does is his choice and is his responsibility. And if I were you. I’d stay out of it.

This time well, my day just got a lot better. Yeah, mine, too. You know, I’m meeting brook lynn in a few. Why don’t you join us? I’d love it. Oh, I can’T. I can’T. Hey, well, maybe we’ll talk later. I haven’t seen you since I left brook lynn’s shower to attend chase’s bachelor party. I know. Yeah. And we have so much to catch up on. I’ll call you this afternoon, and we can find a time. Look, sonny has lived in port charles a long time. He’s got a lot of exes and a lot of kids. I mean, it’s probably six degrees of separation between sonny and everybody in this town, but he isn’t a big presence in all of their lives. My mom had a baby with him, and he isn’t a big presence in hers. But he is in kristina’S. And after this baby is born, she can go on being daddy’s girl, and you and I will be here in our home, with our child. A child we wouldn’t have if it weren’t for my sister. I know. I know. And I’m not trying to sound ungrateful. I hope you don’t feel ungrateful. Or regretful? After andrea lost our child, I was heartbroken. I thought that we would never find another surrogate. And when kristina stepped up and offered, it was the answer to our prayers or at least it was to mine. Mine too. But we can’t forgive her history. And we won’T. But my sister — she’s not just our incubator. She’s also a human being with a job and friends and a life. And no matter what she’s done in her past, kristina would never do anything to endanger our child. That I know. I know that kristina would never mean to do anything even the slightest bit problematic. But running around, defending her dad — I mean, that’s not just emotionally stressful. That — that could be physically dangerous. Look, kristina and sonny have always had a special bond. And I think when she came here, it was just her last-ditch effort to get somebody to tell her that josslyn was wrong and the things that she said weren’t true. But you couldn’t tell her that, could you? Did my best. But I might end up prosecuting the man. I hope it doesn’t come to that. Me too. But it definitely won’t if I am late to court because I will not have a job.

[ Chuckles ] I love you. I love you. I know there was a time that I made spencer feel like that, um, I had to make him choose between me and ace. But it was really about esme. I was just so angry at her that I wanted her out of our lives, but that meant distance from ace. And by pushing spencer away from ace, I was really pushing him away from me. You know, honey, spencer was a very smart young man. He knew how difficult that dynamic was, and I am sure he understood. I hope you’re right. But, um, that got me thinking. Uh, it’s a really great day and it’s a nice day outside. Maybe I can take ace to the park. Oh! If you’re okay with that? I am very okay with that. Yeah? Ace loves to go to the park. Don’t you, sweetheart? Oh, one thing, though. Be forewarned — he’s at a phase where everything he finds he puts in his mouth. Well, I guess that builds up the immune system. [ Laughs ] But, honey, are you sure you have time now to do this? Yeah, definitely. I mean, I’m not at the gallery every day, and you’re busy. Uh, well, yes, but, you know, you love working at the gallery, and I wouldn’t want you to give up anything that you love, but… you want to go to the park? Oh, yeah, I do love it. And I love ava. But… she’s really good at what she does and she doesn’t really need me and maybe I could talk to her about changing my schedule and, if it’s okay with you and ace, we can make this a regular thing? [ Sighs ] Well, I don’t know if we’re made for each other, but I think there’s, uh, some part of you that speaks to me and some part of me that speaks to you. Well, all the parts of me are saying, “please leave.” Really? ‘Cause I remember about 45 minutes that we were together that wasn’t, uh, exactly miserable. Well, that moment of weakness — that will never be repeated in this lifetime. Besides, you know, we’ve already reached the heights of not exactly miserable. What more is there to achieve, drew? Total misery? Oh, I think you and I both have already achieved that.

[ Sighs ]

With the schedule looking the way it does, I think a summer drop for the single is likely. What about your wedding? It won’t be a conflict. I promise.

[ Laughs ] Look, once the single drops online, we will decide on a venue and showcase it. And I have lots of ideas, but let me know what you’re thinking, okay? Will do. We’ll invite vips and really make a splash. And we’ll do it here. Really? Not in the city? No. Look, your single is going to be great. And anyone who’s anyone is gonna go wherever they have to, to hear it. Everyone goes to the city. Doing it in port charles is — is — is gonna make it more exclusive, more insider-Y. I ve it. I’m in. You know, you don’t have to prove yourself as a manager to me. I already have total faith in you. Thank you. That’s how I justify the faith — by working hard. Okay, but I saw you at your shower, and you were loving every part of the bride-to-be experience. I mean, don’t you want to embrace it? I am! Yeah, but you’re also taking care of me. I just — I just don’t want you to miss out on anything because you’re having to deal with my stuff. Stuff? You mean career?

[ Laughs ] If we push for a few weeks, my career will survive. And it’s not like I don’t have enough on my plate with all the deception photo shoots. Look, it’s very sweet of you to consider my personal schedule, but I can’t help but wonder if this is less about my wedding and more about whatever’s going on between you and your mom. I hope it’s okay I dropped in. Oh, absolutely. You’re welcome anytime. I ran into carly at the restaurant upstairs. The staff was welcoming her back. Yes, the once and future co-owner. I’m surprised you sold. I thought you really enjoyed owning part of the metro court. I did. I did. But, you know, people change. Their priorities change.

[ Chuckles ] And yours was getting my dad back. When I said that I would do anything to be back with your dad, I meant it. And jason offered to buy my half of the hotel, and I was led to believe that sonny would approve if I sold. It turns out that the opposite was true. What happened? Well, kristina, I just miscalculated in the most damaging way possible. That doesn’t sound like you. Well, we all have our blind spots, don’t we? And ava jerome was mine. Hi. I want your opinion. I just uncrated this one. Oh. What do you think? Uh, well, I’m no expert, but I like it. Yeah. Yeah. I like it, too. I’m taking a bit of a risk on this artist, but I really think they’re gonna hit and make it big. Ah.

[ Chuckles ] Does trina agree? Oh, well, I’ll be sure to ask her. Trina has an excellent eye. Even when she’s, um, not herself. She’s still grieving spencer. I do, too, every time I look at ace. Josslyn is convinced that you intend to eliminate her ex-boyfriend, dex. She’s convinced of a lot of things, and most of the time she’s wrong. Is she wrong about this, sonny? Carly and michael have done everything to make me look bad in her eyes. I guess they got what they wanted. Well, what about kristina? What about kristina? She’s pregnant. She’s carrying molly and tj’s baby. I don’t want her upset. Well, it might be too late for that. Josslyn told kristina that after you beat cyrus nearly to death… …that you ordered dex to finish the job.

Josslyn is just like her mother. She and carly should stay out of things they don’t understand. If anything happens to dex, josslyn’s gonna blame you, and so is kristina. What do you want me to do? Just — just be the man kristina thinks you are. Just leave the kid alone, sonny. The kid is a vet. He knows a lot of things. He’s a liability. Do you underst– if he becomes a cop, yes. Josslyn told me he applied. You were on the inside. You know what the stakes are, don’t you? I know that if dex did not give up anything yet, the odds are he’s not going to. I can’t take that chance!

[ Sighs heavily ] Sonny, you got to think about this. If anything happens to dex, joss, carly, michael — they know that you’re gonna be behind it, and so will kristina. What is that gonna do to kristina? Is that what you want? Kristina: I don’t get it. I — I thought that ava was your best friend. Oh, I did, too. It just — it turns out that she’s just really good at impersonating a best friend. See, I let myself forget something that I learned about ava a long time ago — that when ava jerome wants something, she doesn’t let a simple thing like friendship stand in her way. She wants what I have. Had. My dad. Um, now that the ink is dry on the divorce papers, ava’s exactly where she wants to — down the hall in sonny’s guest room. That is, when she’s not busy running interference and keeping everyone else away. My dad’s not gonna fall for that. Are you sure, kristina? Because I’ve got the divorce papers and ava’s got the room in the penthouse. And she was the one that floated the idea that I should turn in carly and drew into the sec. Now, I take responsibility. I did make the call. But I had help getting there. Ava’s been playing the long game beautifully. And I fell for it hook, line, and sinker. How could you not see spencer and nikolas every time you look at ace? He’s such a cute baby, though. Hopefully that eases a little bit of the pain? Oh, yes, it definitely does. Having ace makes things a lot easier. I think that’s why trina landed on my doorstep today. She wanted to take ace to the park, and I of course said yes. And then, if that went well, she wanted to take care of him on an ongoing basis. Spencer’s gone, and trina wants time with his baby brother, like, um… a last link to the boy she loved? Yeah. It crossed my mind, too. You’ve seen a lot more of her than I have. How does she seem to you? She’s up and down. Although I haven’t seen her too much lately. We’ve been on different schedules. I’m sure that you’ve heard the gossip? I can’t say that I have. Gossip about what? Some very small-minded people are trying to make something tawdry out of my living with sonny. And, really, all sonny is doing is opening his home to me and avery to keep us safe. But, um, I know that I’m getting off track here. We’re talking about trina, and… I know that there are several stages to grief, right? But eventually you have to start living your life again. I’m just not sure that’s what trina is doing. Is it possible that spending time with ace is her way of clinging to the past? The bubbles? Yeah! Tj: Trina. Hi. Tj, how are you? Good, good. I’m on my way to work, so nothing to complain about yet. Oh, well, I don’t think you’ve had the good fortune of meeting mr. Ace cassadine yet. Ace, this is dr. Ashford. Spencer’s little brother. Yeah. Pleasure to meet you, ace. Ace and I are just getting some air, and the mayor’s getting a well-needed break. Well, whatever you’re doing, you’re smiling a lot, and it’s nice to see. And I believe you’re the reason for that.

[ Both laugh ] Okay, we also need to put up the new bottles that just came in before the dinner rush. Okay. So, the rumors are true. Carly spencer’s back in the hotel business. She is, indeed.

[ Both chuckle ] Looks like you hit the ground running. Well, I may or may not have made a list of things I wanted to change if I ever got the metro court back. Well, it’s really good to see you back at the helm. I only wish I could have been the one to make it happen for you. Well, you know, you were always so generous. It — it didn’t feel right accepting. I’m assuming you got a better offer from jason.

Yeah. So, jason didn’t give me an opinion. I found out he bought the metro court when he handed me the signed paperwork. Well, good for him. And good for you for accepting it. I know how much this place means to you. And the only thing that really matters is that you have it back, right? I’m happy for you. Thank you. I’m happy for me, too. Your mother is an excellent business manager. But I just don’t understand what she’s thinking when it comes to your personal life. She says she doesn’t want anything to distract my fans from my music. But the relationship between fans and artists has changed. Social media has created an entrée into artists’ lives, and it’s made fans feel more connected and invested and even more loyal. I mean, it’s a good thing. She hasn’t come right out and said it, but I think my mom is really afraid that my fans will see my being gay as a negative. No offense, but what year does she think it is? It’s hard to know sometimes. Blaze, your fans love you. And this is the music industry. You’re hardly the only gay artist out there. My mom just doesn’t want to risk losing any fan support. Being honest about who you are is just as likely to expand your audience.

[ Sighs ] Oh, god. I’m sorry I got all wound up. Okay, I’m just gonna say one more thing, and then you can tell me to shut up. Are you kidding? I love wound-up brook lynn.

[ Laughs ] Fan base and potential ticket sales aside, don’t you think that being truthful about who you are will only make your life and kristina’s better? Every time I have been at my dad’s place, ava’s there. And let me guess — she’s talking about avery. She’s playing that mom card hard. Actually, avery — avery hasn’t even been there. But do you know that my dad’s drinking again? Yeah, I know, and I hate it. I don’t think he has a problem, but you made it clear that mixing alcohol and his meds was a bad idea. Well, it is. But he’s still taking his meds. That’s good. He’s just taking it with a shot of whiskey now. Well, maybe sonny forgets the risks when ava’s pouring. You know, I think people grieve on their own timetable and in their own way, and I think this is just trina’S. Maybe I should be ashamed to admit it, but when nikolas and I parted ways, I didn’t even turn around to wave. Well, I still feel the loss. But then again, I’m his mother. I’m not the woman who he cheated on, among other things. Among many, many other things. Yeah. I’m a little curious. Have you spoken to him at all? I declined a few calls from pentonville. Have you been in touch with him? Yeah, a little bit. They’re transferring him out of state. Oh, I’m sorry. I know that’ll make visitation very difficult. Yeah. And I know that he did horrible things, but he’ll always be my son. Of course. No, I completely understand. Yeah. And as far as trina goes, I guess we just have to let her find her way through this thing and, uh, be there to support her. Well, I’m fortunate that trina seems to find solace in work. Her extra hours here have been a huge help since sonny and avery need me at home. I thought you weren’t staying — wait a minute. Do you call sonny’s place “home” now? Stay away from my family. Stay away from my business. Sonny, if you have dex killed, you’re not just gonna be facing criminal charges. You’re gonna lose everything. You could lose kristina. Or you’re gonna have to lie to her. And you don’t like being lied to you. Are you prepared to do that? If dex dies and kristina looks you in the face and goes, “dad, did you kill dex?” What are you gonna say? Who are you to judge me? Like you haven’t done what I’ve done. I love kristina, and I love my kids. I’ll protect them. What about you? You disappeared on your sons. You abandoned them for more than two years. You have no right to tell me what to do.

Avery thinks of sonny’s place as home, and I’m glad about that. I would hate for her to feel like a guest at her dad’s, right? And of course sonny wants her to feel at home there, too. Yeah, I get it. I understand. And for obvious reasons, we feel very safe and secure there. And I didn’t realize how much I missed that feeling, since esme broke into wyndemere yeah. Well, I don’t think esme’s gonna be a danger to anyone anymore. No. But there were other incidents — and some having to do with sonny’s business — and he insisted that avery and I stay with him. Well, I’m glad he’s being careful, and I’m sure it’s, uh, nice for avery to be near her dad, but… what about you? What do you want? Yeah, this little guy makes everyone smile. Is it just me, or is he growing really fast? Oh, yeah, he’s definitely a big guy.

[ Chuckles ] No question. Makes me wonder about my own baby. When, uh — when’s kristina due? August. Can’t get here soon enough. Nervous father-to-be? I would be under any circumstance, but kristina has a way of making problems of her own. I mean, I’m grateful to her… mm-hmm. …But her family… look, don’t stress. Follow this guy. You know, stay in the moment and focus on the here and now. What do you say, ace? Trina thinks that you’ve achieved zen. If so, can you please show me how? He’s showing you.

[ Laughs ] I don’t know if my being out would make things easier for kristina and me. Our relationship is still very new, and I want to protect it, at least for a little while. I don’t blame you. So, maybe in a year — a year, five years, or never. It’s your call, not mine, and no one else’s, okay? I just wanted to give you a perspective that wasn’t coming from your mom. I appreciate that. Really. But I think for now, kristina and I are happy with the way things are. Thanks for understanding. When we were together, we just couldn’t get things quite right. But we sure did try. We sure did. Cost us, though, didn’t it? Assets, money, careers. Your freedom. But now we got a — we got a reset. Sort of back to normal. I mean, kind of a new old normal, I guess. Things are back the way they’re supposed to be. Almost. I’m sorry, kristina. Sonny’s not my problem anymore. The divorce is a done deal. If ava wants him, she can have him. Not if I have anything to do with it. Kristina. Kr– kristina, please, wait. Be careful. What do you mean? Well, ava hasn’t survived this long by playing by the rules, and she’s really good at making sure that no one sees it when she breaks them. My dad’s in a very vulnerable place right now because of his breakup with you and because he’s estranged from carly and michael. He used to really rely on them, and now, for whatever reason, he can’T. Ava is living there. She’s avery’s mom. My dad is letting his guard down at a time when he really shouldn’t be. He knows what ava’s capable of. My whole family does. Maybe ava looks at us and she thinks that we’ve forgotten about morgan and about connie falconeri, but we haven’T. Before you lecture me on what to do with kristina, try being a father to jake and danny. Sonny… too many people know that dex worked for you. Any move you make against him is gonna incriminate you. So, please, for your sake for everybody else’s sake, just leave dex alone. Or what?! I’ll have to stop you. You’ll die trying.

[ Indistinct shouting ] Hi, drew! Good job! Drew: Hey! Hey. Sorry I’m late. Hey. Something came up. What’s up? Rough day? Yeah. Kind of. The worst. Jason won’t listen to me, and danny won’t listen to me, either. You having second thoughts? About coming tonight? Yeah. Maybe. I mean, it was really nice of chase to invite me, but it might have been a mistake taking him up on it. Some of the cops got to you, didn’t they? I tried to shrug it off, but, yeah. I think we both might have underestimated how tough it was gonna be for me at the academy and in the department if I even get in. Thinking about giving up? Who is it? It’s your sister. It’s kristina. [ Laughter ] Yeah, it can be a little much sometimes, but how cute is it that she labeled my gifts “loot”? Thank you so much for tonight, ma. I was half-dreading my bachelorette/ bridal shower, but it turned out to be such a great night. Oh, anything from my girl. It was a great party. But some of your friends can’t hold their liquor. Not like you, huh, granny? Okay. On that note, I’m going to bed. Good night! -Night. -Sleep tight!

[ Laughs ] Wow. Tonight really was a blast. I just want to call chase and tell him all about it, but I don’t want to interrupt his party or wake him if he’s already home. Sitter had to leave 20 minutes ago, so hopefully dad and violet are already sleep. Daddy! You have to help grandpa! Hey, sweetheart. Okay.

[ Chuckles ] It’s just that I tell danny not to see his father. And what does he do? He goes straight from school and goes to see his father, and then I tell jason, “please stay away from danny.” And he spends time with him anyway.

[ Sighs ] Yeah. That’s frustrating. Look. Maybe just — I don’t know — take a breath.

[ Breathes deeply ] Jason seems like this stand-up, solid guy, right? But he broke my heart twice — twice — by falling off the face of the earth. And the first time, of course, I know it wasn’t his choice, but the second time, I keep asking him what happened, and he refuses to explain that to me. And that is hard enough for me as an adult to process that. But danny — he’s just a kid. He would be devastated if jason disappeared again. It is a difficult situation. I’m not saying you’re doing anything wrong, but you don’t want danny thinking that he’s doing something wrong by wanting to have a relationship with his dad, right? Well, that — that’s not what I’m doing. Am I? I was at brook lynn’s bridal shower. I was having a great time, and then josslyn comes over, and she just starts blatantly lying about my dad. Lying?

[ Stammers ] She is upset because she and dex broke up, and she blames my dad, of course, because s-she blames him for everything. Okay. What exactly did josslyn say? Josslyn said that my dad ordered dex to kill cyrus renault when he was beaten up and in the hospital. That is totally inappropriate for josslyn to do, especially at brook lynn’s bridal shower. I know. But, um, sonny doesn’t have a reputation for no reason. Molly, I’m not naive. I-I-I know… that my dad is who he is. But to order dex to kill cyrus, a broken-down old man, when he’s in the hospital? My dad just — h-he wouldn’t do that. There’s no way. I just couldn’t help myself. I mean, I just came right out to kristina, and I told her that her beloved father sent dex to kill cyrus.

[ Chuckles ] That shut her up quick. Drink that whole thing. I realize that you — you know you probably don’t know dex. I just figured you had heard his name. Anyway, we are very complicated. Dex and I have not met, but your mom told me a little bit about him. Did she tell you that dex risked his life protecting sonny? And then sonny decided that he was a traitor and turned on him? Listen. Dex is not the kind of guy that would kill someone for money. He’s just not. But sonny had him so screwed up that he — he actually considered finishing killing a man that sonny had already beaten half to death. That’s, uh — that’s dex’s decision. Nobody else can make that one for him. No, it’s not. It’s not dex’s decision. It’s sonny’s orders. And that’s been my problem with kristina because every time I see her, she’s out defending him or saying that he can’t do anything wrong. And I’m just sick of it. I just — I don’t understand how — how she can’t see him for what he really is. How can she be that blind? Because I think most people want to see their parents in a good light. And, uh, maybe you’re not seeing sonny very clearly right now. Chase: We need paramedics to 347 portside road, apartment number 9. My father has als. He’s having trouble breathing. We have the home ventilator, and he’s awake, but he is not moving. Sweetheart? Hey. Can you — can you tell me what happened? Me and grandpa were playing a game, and that’s when he started breathing funny. He told me to go get his machine from his bedroom ’cause he couldn’t get up. Hey. You know, you did great. Alright? I’m so proud of you. Hey, dad? Hey. It’s gonna be okay. Alright? Listen. I’m gonna ask you a few questions, alright? And if you can hear me, you just — you blink once for “yes,” twice for “no.” Are you in any pain? Okay. Good. Good. But you knew something was wrong, and that’s — that’s why you had violet go get your oxygen, right? Alright. Hey. Sweetheart, has — has grandpa been like this for a while, or did it just happen? It’s been three songs, I think. -Three songs. -Is grandpa gonna be okay? Yeah. Hey. Hey. Listen, I know you’re scared, right? Nothing to be scared about. Grandpa’s gonna be fine. Alright? T-this happens sometimes with people who have als, okay? Yeah. Yeah. And look. You were so brave. But why didn’t you, uh — why didn’t you call your dad when — when you saw this happen? Well, I was going to, but I got so busy helping grandpa with his machine. Okay. It’s okay. It’s okay. Can you move your arms or legs?

Ma! Hm? Put the seating chart away and go to sleep! You’ve gone over it like a million times. It’s perfect. It was perfect until I found out that your cousin angela and your aunt patty are fighting again, so I had to separate the two of them. Otherwise, there would be a nasty cake-flinging incident, possibly. Anyway — but that’s my story. So why are you still up? Ohh. I’m just too excited. I’m gonna have full-blown insomnia by the time the wedding comes. What was it like for you and dad? Oh, well… as you know, I live in a permanent state of excitement. Of course. Um, but… yeah, I was exactly like you, you know, although our situations were a little different. I mean, I loved my wedding, and I will always love you father, but… ohh. Our situation was different than you and chase. What do you mean? Well, being truthful and keeping promises are not necessarily the quartermaines’ strongest suits. Present company excluded, of course. Of course.

[ Laughs ] But… harrison chase is a different story altogether. I mean, honey… if I could have chosen the perfect husband for you… and you know what? I wanted to do that many times over the years. I would have picked a man exactly like chase. Really, ma? Oh. Yes. I mean, he is sweet… and he’s gorgeous. He’s smart. He protects and serves. And I don’t know if you noticed this yet or not, but he has this beautiful, nice beard going on that not every man can pull off. No, I have noticed, and I agree the beard is so good. So good.

[ Laughs ] Ooh! Ohh! Aww. Hmm… mm. What was that for? I love you, ma. I’m really glad you’re here. Oh. Me too. How’s violet? She’s scared, but she was also exhausted, so she went to sleep. How’s dad? Ventilator’s doing its job. Dad’s — dad’s breathing’s good. Paramedics will be here any minute. Hey. Dad. You just close your eyes and rest if you want, alright? We got you.

[ Exhales sharply ] Finn: Okay. Chase: Hey, finn. Finn: Yeah? Is dad gonna be admitted to the hospital? I don’t know. I would think so. What are we supposed to do? I mean, we can’t get married next week if dad is paralyzed and in the hospital. That’s really between you and brook lynn, bro. Alright? Right now all I can think about is getting dad the help he needs and trying to comfort violet. Where the hell are these paramedics?! Josslyn: Just be honest with me. Do you think I’m a terrible person for saying what I said? No. No, you are not a terrible person. I’m not so sure.

[ Scoffs ] Maybe my mom was right about me. Well, look, your mom is right about a lot of things, but not everything. So, what’d she say? Well, I went off about sonny, and I told her that I didn’t understand how she could still possibly support him after everything. And she told me that all of this hatred that I have for sonny, it’s just poisoning me… and that all of this anger I have, it’s just hurting me. Well, do you think she’s right? I didn’t at the time, but after tonight, yeah, I think that she has a point. I should have never said that to kristina. And the look on her face… it just proved to me that… I can also be very cruel sometimes. I know the academy will be difficult if I even get in. Oh, come on. You know you aced the test. I just didn’t want to get ahead of myself and presume anything. Well, presume. Like, how do you think you’ll do? I plan to work and train and study as hard as possible. I will do whatever it takes to graduate. I just hadn’t taken into account how much resentment the other officers might have towards me because I worked for sonny. There were officers here tonight who clearly turned their backs on me. They don’t want me to join their ranks. Yeah. I’m sorry that happened. I can’t even blame them. Sonny is a mob boss, and I protected him. The other cops are wondering what my angle is here. I was just in this position with sonny, and I am in no rush to put myself back in a position where I’m constantly suspected and undermined by the people around me. Got it. Okay. Well, you know, trust is very important on the force. Your life, quite literally, is in your partner’s hands. So you agree this is gonna be a problem? Yeah. Have you changed your mind about me joining the pcpd? Should I just give up and forget about it? Absolutely not. No. I never said becoming a cop was gonna be easy. But it is certainly worth it.

All  fixed. There will be nocake flinging on my watch. I have — I have been going through the photographs from the shower. Who knew that willow could dance like that?! It’s always the shy ones. Is no one asleep in this house? Actually, I’m parched and I need to hydrate first. And olivia said that ned was already in bed when we got home. Oh! Well, that doesn’t surprise me. Men don’t know how to have fun at a party without shooting something or setting it on fire. I’m so glad I’m a woman. Pfft. I think I might need a glass of warm milk to help me sleep or maybe a glass of schnapps! Ooh! I don’t think schnapps is considered “hydrating.” Yeah, but it’s considered really delicious.

[ Laughter ]

[ Cellphone chimes ] Oh. Who could that be at this hour? Oh. Let’s see. Oh, it’s chase. He says, um, he’s been trying to reach you, but you haven’t been answering your phone, and he wants me to wake you up because he’s on his way over right now. What? I left my phone upstairs. If he’s coming over this late, it must mean something’s really wrong. Thanks, doc. We’ll take it from here. Finn: Okay. I’m gonna wait to see what they say and then I’m gonna go talk to brook lynn. Okay. Gregory: I’m getting feeling back. -Good. -Be careful, dad. Don’t push it.

[ Groans ] I’m okay. I — I don’t know what just happened, but it feels like it’s passing now. That’s great, dad. Okay, look. I’m glad you’re feeling better, but I want the paramedics to take you to G.H. And get you checked out. Absolutely not. What’s an E.R. Doctor gonna tell me that I don’t already know? Feeling a bit better at least? No. Honestly, I just keep sitting here thinking about what josslyn said, and it just makes me more and more upset. And, look — I-it’s common knowledge that my dad beat up cyrus renault on new year’s eve, but that was an extenuating circumstance. And — and cyrus is no angel. Yeah, cyrus is definitely not a great guy, but sonny shouldn’t have attacked him. No. Of course not. No one deserves that. Not even cyrus. I know that. Yeah. I’m glad. But it was a really bad night for my dad. I mean, he had just found out that nina had lied to him, and he was completely reeling from that, so cyrus — he must have done something or said something terrible to provoke my dad to attack him. And cyrus clearly knows that because he’s not pressing charges, so… that’s definitely a possibility. Right. I mean, I know my dad has a temper, but… josslyn just — she’s not right about this. My dad would never order dex to kill cyrus while he was in the hospital. He just — he wouldn’t do that. You know that, right? No, I’m telling you — hatchet throwing was invented in canada by a bunch of friends who got really drunk and bet which of them would be better at. Okay. That sounds completely made-up. Mnh-mnh. It’s true. It’s true. Check it out. Um… aww. That’s a cute picture. Your daughter’s adorable. Thank you. I agree. I mean, I’m biased, but, you know… yeah, she’s amazing. I love her more than anything else in the world. Okay. Can I confess something? Please do. Hatchet throwing is a safe space.

[ Laughs ] I am secretly hoping that tj and molly’s baby’s a girl because I want to buy a ridiculous amount of dresses for her. I don’t want you to take this the wrong way. Um… I don’t see it. See what? You as a grandmother. I mean, you’re just — you’re way too young and vibrant for that work.

[ Laughs ] Bless you. I know that danny was having problems before jason came back, and I understand that that comes with kids that are his age, but I was just hoping that things would get better. And now I don’t know. It’s like — danny can refuse to play by my rules because he has somewhere to go and someone to complain to about them. Yeah, but do you think jason would encourage that kind of thing? All I know is that it’s too dangerous for danny to be around his father right now. It’s why jason and I broke up in the first place. I wanted to keep my kids physically and emotionally safe. I won’t allow the danger that surrounds jason back into our life at our home. I’ve wanted to say what I said to kristina tonight for so long. I mean, it’s been on the tip of my tongue for months. But the second I said it and I saw the look on kristina’s face, I realized I’m not mad at kristina. I’m mad at sonny. And he’s not gonna listen to me. And he doesn’t care what I think. Dex is not working for sonny anymore, right?

[ Scoffs ] No. He went the opposite direction, and he’s becoming a cop. Dex is becoming a cop? Yeah. He applied for the pcpd academy. And I know that I should just be happy for him and — and be happy that he’s going legit and he’s gonna be on the right side of the law this time. But now all I can think about is sonny’s reaction. And I went to anna and I told her how angry sonny’s gonna be and to not let dex into the academy, but she wouldn’t listen to me. Yeah, I mean, sonny could definitely see dex becoming a cop as a threat to him. Yes, he absolutely will. And I’m terrified. I still love dex, and I’m gonna grieve him for the rest of my life if sonny has him killed.

You know, a similar thing happened to me recently, when I was reinstated as commissioner. Some of the — some of the officers, they weren’t all that happy with my past. And, uh, they let me know it. You know? They… made comments, and… some work was slow-walked. I’ve got to say, it was not pleasant. I had no idea. I’m sorry. Well, I mean, it’s not like I didn’t expect it. In all fairness, they had every reason to doubt me. Well, they all seem to respect you now. Yeah. How did you get them to change their minds? Well, I-I had to prove myself. You know? I had to show them that I want exactly the same thing that they do — to protect and serve. And I show them every single day. And I have every confidence that you will be able to do the same and you will succeed in winning over your fellow officers. I appreciate your faith. Originally, I wanted you in my department because of what you know about sonny and his organization. But I have to say I’m very impressed by your commitment. And now I just see a good man who will make a great officer. That really means a lot, having you in my corner. Unfortunately, it’s not gonna do you any good when detective bennet gets ahold of you over at the police academy. Hey. Look who woke up and wanted to see how much better you were doing.

[ Chuckles ] I’m so glad you’re okay, grandpa. Oh, thanks to you. You were so brave getting my machine for me and helping me put it on. I was really scared. Ohh. I’m sorry, honey. I-I didn’t mean to frighten you. But you didn’t panic. You did everything exactly right. You should be so proud of yourself for being such a smart girl. I love you grandpa. Oh, I love you, too, sweetheart. Hmm. Okay. I think it’s time for a certain young lady to get back to bed. Okay. Good night, grandpa. I’ll see you in the morning, kid. -Good night, daddy. -Good night, sweetheart. Hey.

[ Sighs ] So… feeling back to normal in your limbs? I can’t let anything like this happen again. I won’t put violet through that. Okay. Okay. She’s, um — she’s okay. She’s alright. She — she feels better now that she’s seen that you’re better. Maybe so, but I-I saw the panic in her eyes when we were alone. I mean, I’m not —

[ Sighs ] I’m just not gonna be responsible for… doing that to her again. Okay. Hey. We can talk about it some more in the morning. Good. Where did chase go? My dad has done a lot of good, and I am sick and tired of people constantly attacking him! Hey. Hey. But it’s just josslyn. Right?

[ Sighs ] I mean, you know that she hates sonny. You and her have fought about your dad before. So the terrible things that she said couldn’t have been that much of a surprise, right? Yeah, I guess not. And josslyn is not in a position of authority. All she can do is talk. So I know it’s hard, but try not to let her get to you so much. I can’T. Josslyn went too far this time. My dad — he protects his territory. He defends himself. He defends port charles. He doesn’t go after innocent people without provocation. That is not who my dad is. My dad’s als symptoms have been getting worse, but this was by far the scariest health crisis. I-I don’t see how he’s gonna be able to officiate our wedding. That’s okay. We will figure out who else can do it, and we’ll go from there. Okay. The way I see it, we have two options, right? I mean, we could find another officiant. I can — I can call father tom over at st. Anthony’s, see if he can fly up, or we can talk to the pastor here or… or we cancel the wedding. Oh, that — don’t be ridiculous! First of all, another officiant should be a last resort, and there will be no canceling of this wedding. Gregory didn’t want to go to the hospital because he didn’t think it was necessary. He’s gonna be fine the day of the wedding. And you can’t cut the man out of officiating at his own son’s wedding without talking to him first and getting his prognosis!

really didn’t know whatto expect when I found out where this party was taking place, but I had fun tonight. Me too. Got to be honest — I was kind of dreading coming to a bachelor party just ’cause it’s not really where my head’s at right now. Yeah. Events like this are tough so soon after a breakup. That’s true. But it is kind of fun to remember the nice parts of love and to celebrate that. I know. Chase is so happy. He practically glows when he talks about brook lynn. Mm. She’s the same way when she talks about him. It really is — like, I genuinely appreciate the reminder of the excitement that happens in a relationship before somebody gets their heart broken. Ohh! You were so close to saying something positive.

[ Both laugh ] Yeah. I know it’s hard right now, but… you’ll get there eventually. I think maybe I understand a little bit of where danny’s coming from… growing up without a dad. Yeah, I had uncles a-and cousins, and they all tried to do dad stuff with me, but it wasn’t the same. Back then, all I wanted was to know my dad and for him to know me and to be proud of me. I’m glad you and sonny were able to make up for lost time, but… the situations just aren’t the same. Right. That may be the case, but danny’s not a kid anymore. He’s gonna form his own opinion about jason. I mean, unless you think jason would be, you know, manipulating danny, but… no, jason is a lot of things, but manipulative isn’t one of them. You’re not gonna reassure me and tell me that sonny’s not gonna have dex killed?

[ Exhales sharply ] I’m just not close to sonny anymore. And I can’t predict what he’s gonna do. Well — [ Chuckles ] Thank you for not telling me that I’m being too hard on sonny and that I should be grateful for sonny and that he thinks of me like his own daughter — because if I hear that anymore, I’m gonna scream. Well, you get to feel what you feel. How do you feel? It doesn’t hurt you how quickly sonny was to believe that you were the one who shot dante? Do you hate him for turning on you so quickly? No, I-I don’T. I don’t hate sonny. See, that’s what I don’t understand. Because he treated you so badly. And he should have known that you would never hurt dante. And sonny’s always preaching about loyalty, yet he showed no loyalty to you. Doesn’t that make you angry?

[ Breathes deeply ] Sonny’s never been a perfect person. But he’s changed. You know, how he’s acting right now is — is not how he would have acted before. We all want the wedding to go on as planned, but we have to be ready to adjust, so I will call the florist and the caterers in the morning, see what our options are in case your dad is too sick and we have to cancel the wedding. Honey, I could help. -Okay. -Thank you. I know this is the last thing you all were expecting tonight. You either.

[ Cellphone rings ] It’s gregory. Gregory, hi. Are you alright? Yeah, I am. I-I had a little episode earlier tonight, but I’m okay now. Ohh. I’m so glad to hear that. Thank you. Listen. I know my son is there. Yes, he is. He’s right here. Do you want to talk to him? Actually, no. I — [ Groans ] I want you to tell chase something for me. Okay. I’m sure that he and brook lynn are thinking about canceling the wedding. I want you to tell them that I won’t stand for it.

Dad doesn’t deserve this.My dad’s a good person. And he supports everyone in his life, including josslyn. And, yes, I admit — he has been on edge and — and a little harsh lately, but that’s only because he’s so heartbroken about what happened with nina. A-and he’s still trying to wrap his mind around jason coming back and the way that jason came back. So strange. And then on top of that, he has ava living in his penthouse saying god knows what to him. Well, I’m sure it helps to have you. He knows how much you love and support him. Thanks. I hope so. Ugh! Alright.

[ Grunts ] I need to get home, take off my makeup, and take these shoes off, put my feet up, and… maybe listen to those tibetan temple bells you sent me, which are surprisingly relaxing. Okay. Mozart and bach are good, too, played at a very low volume. I think I’m gonna stick to the bells. Thank you. I love you so much. Thank you for being there for me. I refuse to let my illness derail their plans. There’ll be no cancellation of the wedding, and there’ll be no replacing me, either. I’m going to be fine that day, if it kills me. And that’s not a joke. Gregory says the wedding will go on as planned, with him officiating. He is a grown man and he knows his body and he knows what he can handle. You are to stop treating him like a child. It’s disrespectful. Let him make his own decisions. I, uh — I embellished a little to make it sound better. I appreciate that. I plan to be on that altar marrying chase and brook lynn. And if ,god forbid, I have another episode, then someone — you, perhaps — can come up there and read the pages that I’ve written. But everything is going to be fine that day, and no one is going to be happier than me to watch my son and your granddaughter get married. Okay. Chase. You and finn are your father’s greatest achievement. He has been looking forward to this wedding since the day you proposed to brook lynn. He would be devastated if he were not there to officiate. So he’s ready, and he can handle anything that happens — with our help. So you are to honor his wishes because that’s the way it should be. If you love him, you’ll listen to him. Done. Thank you, tracy. What have you decided? You gonna give up becoming a cop because of an uncomfortable night? Not a chance. Good. What you’re setting out to do is important. You know? Societies… they need police officers for a reason — to have safe and livable neighborhoods and cities. You know, it’s an important job. There’s always gonna be a few bullies, no matter how hard we try to get rid of them, but you cannot let them get to you. I’ll do my best. That’s all I can ask. I think you’re going to prove to yourself what kind of a person you are. And you’re gonna do the same to the other officers. Good night. The night really flew by. Um, can i walk you out? Uh, you know what? My rideshare is almost here. And, you know, I was a cop. I can take care of myself. I know. That’s why I want your protection. I mean, it can be dangerous out there at night. Oh, come on.

[ Laughs ] The crazy thing about jason is it’s his openness and — and his honesty that makes him so approachable but such a big threat at the same time. I mean, danny thinks he’s “cool,” that jason “gets” him. And that stings a little bit? Yes, of course, it does! I don’t want to not be the cool parent.

[ Chuckles ] I want to be the fun parent. But, no, I’ve got to tell danny that he’s got to do his homework and — and pick up his room. Yeah, but that — that — what you’re describing — that’s, like, a normal parent/child relationship. I mean, the parent sets the boundaries, and the teenager tests them. Just ask my mom. I know. I know. But jason has no real experience of being danny’s father. He doesn’t know what danny needs yet. And the more time they spend together, I can feel danny pulling back from me, and I don’t want to lose my son. Okay. You’re not gonna lose your son, sam. You and danny are having a rough patch right now. That’s it. He loves you. He’s always gonna love you. That’s not gonna change. Promise. Yeah. I promise. Okay. I’m gonna choose to believe you. Okay. At least for tonight. Okay. That’s good. Can we get out of here? Let’s go. Alright. Alright. Let’s get you back to the dorm. Thank you. I’m not gonna sleep, though. Every time I close my eyes, I have this nightmare that I find dex dead with sonny standing over him, holding a gun, smiling. Yeah, nightmares are the worst. It’s all my fault. I should have never followed dex when he left port charles. I should have just let him go because then he’d be safe and he’d be out of sonny’s reach.

[ Sighs ] Look. I-I may not know dex. But I know you. And the fact that you care about him this much tells me that he’s a good guy, so I’m gonna make you a promise, okay? I’m not gonna let sonny kill dex. I’m gonna watch. I’m gonna listen. I’m gonna keep a close eye on sonny. I know what to look for, and I’m not gonna let it happen. I will keep dex safe. So you can get some sleep. Thank you. That’s not why I came here. Or maybe it was. But just — thank you.

[ Chuckles ] I wouldn’t think that this would be your kind of scene. Because? I didn’t think that you were cool enough.

[ Sighs ] My dear, I have been cool since before you were born. I know. I’m sorry. I’m sorry, aunt stella. I shouldn’t have presumed like that. Ah, it’s “stella” in here. Oh. I got a reputation. Okay. Got it, stella. And since we haven’t had a girls’ night out in forever… yeah. …I thought this would be the perfect place for us to, you know, get it going again. Hi. Hey. Hi. I’m so sorry I’m late. I was helping brook lynn with her bachelorette party. Oh, that was nice of you to help out. Oh, well, it’s nice of you to invite me to this dinner. I haven’t been here. Well, not every place is for everybody. Aunt stella’s a regular.
