Ava: Paul, I appreciate the protection. You know I do. But could you please maybe be just a little less obtrusive, like maybe 10 feet back, perhaps?

Paul: Sure, Mrs. Cassadine.

Ava: Jerome, okay? Ms. Jerome.

Paul: Jerome.

Ava: Trina.

Trina: Hey. How are you doing? [ Chuckles ] Thanks for meeting me.

Ava: Oh, no, it’s my absolute pleasure. Tell me, what’s going on in your life? How’s the new guy? Any developments?

Spencer: Looking for a chair? I saved one for you.

Britt: That line doesn’t work when I can sit anywhere.

Spencer: Come on. You know you want to sit next to me.

Britt: Spencer? [ Gasps ] Oh!

Shawn: First dinner as a free man. My compliments to the chef and the lady who made it happen.

Jordan: Oh, the chef and I thank you. Watching you eat that meal was truly a sight to behold.

Shawn: Why? Because I barely stopped to breathe?

[ Both laugh ]

Shawn: I’m glad you convinced TJ and molly to continue their romantic evening instead of hanging out with us.

Jordan: It took some doing, but did you see the smile on TJ’s face when he saw you walk in here?

Shawn: Well, he’ll get sick of me soon enough, since I’ll be staying with them at Alexis’ house.

Jordan: I don’t know, they both keep pretty busy schedules. I doubt you’ll see them much.

Shawn: Still, I want to get up from out of there, find my own place, get a job, and get on with what I need to do.

Jordan: That being…?

Shawn: Jordan, you know what I’m talking about. I intend to find out who really shot Hayden.

Terry:  Finally.

Portia: I’m so sorry. It’s just all this paperwork.

Terry:  It never ends, does it?

Portia: [ Sighs ]

Terry:  I just have to change, but I’m so excited that you’re coming out for a drink tonight.

Portia: Me too. You know, I’m actually looking forward to a relaxing, uncomplicated evening. So, where do you want to go? Do you want to go to the Port Charles Grill or Metro Court?

Terry:  Oh, no. The only place to be is opening night at The Savoy.

Curtis: Wow. How we doing?

N’neka: The Savoy signature cocktail is a definite hit.

Curtis: Well, hiring a mixologist was one of my smarter moves.

Brando: Curtis Ashford.

Curtis: Uh, Brando.

Brando: Yeah. Nice to meet you. I’ve heard nothing but good things about you.

Curtis: Well, thank you. And enjoy your time at The Savoy.

Brando: I will, man. And congratulations. This place is great.

Curtis: Thank you. I now leave you in the capable hands of my bartender, N’neka.

Brando: Hey.

N’neka: Hey. Try our signature Savoy?

Brando: Actually, house craft beer will be fine. And start a tab. This could be a long night.

Spinelli: Oh, I second that. Um, another vodka orange soda, barkeep. [ Clears throat ] Mr. Corbin. Have you too come to drown your sorrows?

Brando: Something like that.

Spinelli: Ah. Allow me to speculate. An affair of the heart.

[ Indistinct conversations ]

Michael: Oh, oh, hey! Sorry! Sasha, I’m so sorry. One second. Uh…

Sasha: Thank you.

Michael: Oh, hey. “Infant nutrition,” “what to eat while you’re breastfeeding”? I’m sensing a doctor’s appointment.

Sasha: Close — nutrition class. Got to start this little person off right. What about you? Board meeting?

Michael: Close — visiting my grandmother. Well, you know, you got things figured out since our last conversation.

Sasha: I’m trying. I intend to give my baby everything he or she needs.

Michael: You know, you don’t have to do it all on your own. I’m sure Brando would want to be there.

Sasha: I’m sure he would. I’m just not so sure I want him to be.

Chase: Hey.

Willow: Hey.

Chase: Are you finished with class?

Willow: Yes. How about you? You almost ready to go?

Chase: Almost there.

physical therapist: You put in some good work today. Soon you’ll be over there walking.

Chase: Well, why wait? Let’s do this.

Jordan: I know how important clearing your name is to you. I’m just concerned about how you intend to do it.

Shawn: Carefully. Look, Jordan, I pled guilty even though I knew I was innocent because I knew I had things to atone for. But attempting to kill Hayden Barnes was not one of them. And taking responsibility for something I did not do, I inadvertently covered up a would-be murderer, someone who really wanted Hayden dead — and damn near succeeded. That person should be brought to justice.

Jordan: I know. But because you confessed and pled guilty, the D.A. suspended the investigation into Hayden’s shooting. Five years is long enough for a case to go cold. I mean, there is still a chance that the perp that made the attempt could be found.

Nikolas: I apologize for interrupting, but I need to know, has the PCPD made any progress per the search for Ava’s stalker?

Portia: You know, I’ve been looking forward to the Metro Court zucchini sticks all day.

Terry: I love them, too. Let’s go there for dinner after. The Savoy is drinks only.

Portia: We can get dinner and drinks there. You know, one-stop shopping.

Terry: It’s The Savoy’s opening night. I want to be where the action is.

Portia: Yeah, but that’s just it. It’s gonna be all crowded and noisy.

Terry: Who doesn’t love crowded and noisy?

Portia: Let’s just go another night. After all the hype and everything has gone down.

Terry: Okay, spill.

Portia: What?

Terry: What’s the real reason you don’t want to go?

Britt: When did you get back? Wait, is this why you ghosted me months ago? You were planning a surprise?

Spencer: I didn’t ghost you. I was busy with graduation. And then I took some time afterwards touring Europe.

Britt: Britt: Wow. Listen to you sounding all continental.

Spencer: Mm-hmm.

Britt: Let’s sit. I want to hear all about the crazy things you did to celebrate graduation.

Ava: Oh, no, don’t tell me that — what’s his name again?

Trina: Uh…

Ava: Victor.  Please don’t tell me this Victor turned out to be some kind of creep.

Trina: Undecided.

Ava: What did he do?

Trina: He’s charming and fun, but he’s also totally unreliable. Plus, there’s some weirdness between him and his family, and I’m not sure what to do about it.

Chase: [ Grunts ]

Willow: There you go.

physical therapist: Now, I’m gonna let go of you. Let’s see if you can stand on your own.

Chase: Okay.

Willow: Chase!

Britt: Does Nikolas realize you’re home? Or does he think you’re still wandering around Europe?

Spencer: Father knows. I surprised him at Wyndemere.

Britt: So, things are better between you?

Spencer: Eh, define “better.”

Britt: Look, you had every right to be angry with him.

Spencer: But I should be over it by now?

Britt: He let you believe he was dead for three years. You thought you were an orphan. Those aren’t things anyone just gets over. And if you said you did, I’d be worried about you.

Spencer: Then you don’t have to worry.

Britt: But getting through anger is a process, Spencer. It is possible to come out the other side if you keep moving forward.

Spencer: Do you speak from experience?

Britt: Yeah. I mean, I’m not always successful at letting go of my anger, but I understand it’s necessary and it’s a goal I’m working toward.

Spencer: And you think that I should do the same?

Britt: I think…if you don’t rebuild the relationship with your father, it will hurt him, no question. But it will also hurt you.

Spencer: I’m here, aren’t I? Supporting Father in his time of need.

Britt: Are you referring to the divorce from Ava? Because Nikolas has definitely been on edge, making wild accusations. Did he tell you about the stalker?

Nikolas: This has been going on for a month now. The threats are escalating. Ava’s gallery was trashed. The stalker was able to leave a toy in Avery’s room. It is unacceptable that there’s been —

Stella: Shawn Butler?

Jordan: Stella, whatever you have to say, just —

Shawn: I’m okay, Jordan. Yes, ma’am, I’m Shawn Butler. And you’re Ms. Henry, Thomas’ aunt. I can’t tell you how sorry —

Stella: I’m not interested in your contrition. But I do have a few things to say to the man who killed my nephew.

Brando: Put it on my tab. It’s the least I can do after you helped rescue my mom and me from Renault.

Spinelli: Well, it was a — thanks — it was my honor. [ Exhales sharply ] Gratified that someone appreciated my efforts.

Brando: You were taken hostage. I mean, Renault was gonna trade you for my mother. I’m thankful that we got out okay.

Spinelli: Sorry. Physical safety is cause for relief. But, unfortunately, my — my heart became collateral damage. See, my partner, Ellie, became increasingly alarmed by my association with the Corinthos organization and the ensuing threat of — of danger and violence. And she wanted me to get out. And when I balked, she walked.

Brando: She left you?

Spinelli: Ellie realized that if she wanted to make a change, to build a new life, maybe have a future with someone else, that she had to start now. So she did. [ Chuckles ] She’s gone.

Brando: Sorry. That’s rough. Were you together long?

Spinelli: Nine years. We were — we were — we were raising my daughter together, mostly in Oregon. We were a happy family unit. But when we relocated to Queens Point, I became more involved with my friends and their business. And, at one point, Ellie said, “can you be a friend and not participate in the ancillary activities?” But it’s just not possible. With my area of expertise, my area of expertise is so invaluable to my friends, but not only that, I… I savor the challenge. I like doing what I do and knowing that I’m good at it. Alas, it has cost me a relationship that I greatly treasured.

Michael: Did something happen between you and Brando?

Sasha: Brando is a great guy. I like him on almost every level.

Michael: Almost.

Sasha: I think we want different things for our lives.

Michael: Okay. I’m not sure I follow exactly, but sometimes guys take a beat to process and fully embrace what parenthood might mean for their lives, so that might be it.

Sasha: That is not it. Brando definitely wants to be involved. I’m the one who’s not sure how that’s gonna look.

Michael: Noted. Alright. I’m gonna take my two cents and just be on my way, then.

Sasha: No, you don’t have to leave. All I’m saying is that I am ready to do it alone if I have to. Be a single mom.

Michael: At the — at the risk of wading back into deep water — here, have a seat. Look, being a parent isn’t always a picnic, let alone being a single parent. And I have all the confidence that you’ll manage. But I just — I want you to go into it with your eyes wide open. Okay? Also, I’m available for any, you know, new-parent freakouts you may have. I’m pretty sure I invented some of them, so I’m at your service.

Sasha: [ Laughs ]

Michael: Also, just so you know, I — I still consider you a good friend.

Sasha: Thanks, Michael. Same goes for me. I am just as invested in your happiness as you are in mine. That includes talking about someone you can’t talk to anyone else about. Willow. If you ever need a sympathetic shoulder with no judgment, I’m here for you.

Chase: I want something more effective than hydration and stretches.

Willow: Hey, the fact that you’re here and working toward recovery at all, it’s a blessing, right? It’s just going to take some time.

Chase: This isn’t what you signed up for.

Willow: I seem to remember a clause about sickness and in health.

Chase: Well, I don’t think that vow can apply when I can’t be your husband. Not really.

Willow: That is not true.

Chase: Willow, you know what I mean. We can’t even share the same bed. I don’t want to wake you up when my legs are cramping. I know you need your rest because you’ve got school and you’ve got Wiley.

Willow: And I’ve got you. Listen to me. I don’t care about sleeping in separate beds.

Chase: But I do. This — this is not who I am. Okay? I am sick of our relationship revolving around my health. I just — I want to be your husband, not your patient. God, I want your love, not your pity.

Willow: I do love you, Chase.

Chase: Then let me do what I have to do.

Willow: Chase, I understand your frustration.

Chase: How can you? All I want is to live a normal life with the person that I love, and that seems impossible right now. [ Scoffs ] I’m — I’m sorry, Willow. I shouldn’t be railing at you. This is exactly what I didn’t want to happen. I don’t want to take my frustrations out on my wife.

physical therapist: Ready for some stretching?

Chase: Yeah. Hey, I’ll call you when I’m done, okay?

Portia: So they decided to get a divorce, and I don’t even know if it’s gone through or anything, I have no idea, but it’s just too soon to be getting involved with anyone.

Terry: Says who?

Portia: Everyone. Conventional wisdom, common sense.

Terry: Oh, and you want to live your life by conventional rules?

Portia: Terry, nobody wants to be on the other end of a rebound relationship.

Terry: Right. Better to nip it in the bud, especially when there’s chemistry.

Portia: I mean, when things were good between us, they were really good. And, yes, that old chemistry is still there.

Terry: Sounds dreadful.

[ Both chuckle ]

Portia: Okay, okay, fine. Yes, yes. I’m still attracted to the man, yes. If anything, even more so. I mean, Curtis back in the day, I mean, it was clear that he was just piecing his life back together. But Curtis now, I mean, he’s grounded and stable.

Terry: And still sexy.

Portia: I certainly think so.

Terry: Yeah.

Portia: And he’s definitely interested.

Terry: Uh-huh.

Portia: And he told me where I could find him tonight.

Terry: So, what happens if you don’t go?

Portia: I don’t know. My fear is that I will lose him in my life as a friend.

Terry: You make it sound like you’re gonna lose him no matter what. Stop me if I’m being intrusive, but I think you want a chance with the man, so what’s holding you back?

Shawn: Would you like to talk privately, Ms. Henry?

Stella: I suppose that would be best.

Shawn: I’ll be back.

Nikolas: That is tense.

Jordan: And none of your business.

Nikolas: The investigation into my stalker is definitely my business. Did the bootprint that your team found at the scene lead to anything?

Jordan: Yes, we’re making progress.

Nikolas: Can you be more specific? I need details.

Jordan: Why? So you can set another trap? Take matters into your own hands? I’m afraid not. That’s all you’re getting.

Nikolas: But I have a right to know.

Jordan: You do not have a right to interfere with an ongoing police investigation. Stay out of it, Nikolas. Leave it to the police. End of discussion.

Spencer: I’ve heard all about Ava’s trials and tribulations. I just wish I could have been there to see her face when she saw that roach.

Britt: You should have seen my face when Nikolas accused me of being the stalker.

Spencer: You have to admit, though, some of the stunts are clever enough to be yours.

Britt: They’re not stunts, Spencer. They’re malicious acts designed to cause fear. And they worked. Ava is terrified.

Spencer: Well, it’s over. Now that Father and Ava are divorcing, the gifts have stopped, right?

Britt: Again, not really gifts.

Spencer: You know what I mean.

Britt: [ Laughs ]

Spencer: You’ve always understood me.

Britt: Likewise. Oh! It’s so good to see you. Can you hang for a bit?

Spencer: Yeah, for a bit. I’ve been here practically all day.

Britt: Okay. Well, I’m gonna get a drink. Do you want one?

Spencer: Gin and tonic.

Britt: Ha! One iced tea, coming up.

Spencer: In Europe, the drinking age is 18.

Britt: This ain’t Europe.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Spencer: Father?

Nikolas: I’m heading home. I’ll give you a ride if you want. Still at the pool?

Spencer: Yes. I just need to change. Why don’t you come have a drink at the pool while you wait for me?

Sasha: Chase, I heard you were here. How’s it going?

Chase: It’s going.

Sasha: You know, physical therapy takes time.

Chase: That’s what they tell me.

Sasha: I would say my experience is with a different type of rehab, but if you ever want to talk…

Chase: Thanks, but I’m all talked out. If anything, I wish Willow would talk more.

Sasha: About what?

Chase: What’s going on with her. I wish she would say more than the obligatory “keep it up” and “don’t lose hope.”

Sasha: I’m sure she means every word.

Chase: Yeah, but I feel like there’s something that she’s not telling me. Has Willow said anything to you?

Michael: Willow. Hey. What’s wrong?

Willow: [ Sighs ] It’s nothing.

Michael: It’s definitely not nothing.

Willow: [ Sighs ] Chase is in physical therapy. He’s working hard, but he’s frustrated with his progress and… he’s lashing out.

Michael: At you?

Stella: Thomas was my nephew. I lived with my sister the whole time he and Curtis were growing up. I helped raise him. We were very close.

Shawn: He always spoke very highly of you.

Stella: I don’t need you to tell me about Thomas. I knew him down to the soles of his feet.

Shawn: With all due respect, ma’am, what do you need from me? You want to unload on me? Fine. I’ll stand right here and take your verbal lashing. I owe you that at least. I know what I took from you.

Stella: [ Scoffs ] Please. You can’t possibly understand what you took from me. What my family lost. Thomas was a good man and a good father. He should have lived to see his son grow up and become a doctor. What? You gonna tell me you’re TJ’s father now? Because a father is more than DNA.

Shawn: Look, you’ll get no argument from me. TJ accepts that, and so do I. Thomas was TJ’s father, but so am I.

Britt: So, besides the legal drinking age… [ Laughs ] Did you miss France? Did you leave someone special behind?

Spencer: France will always be there. What about you? Have you found someone who even slightly deserves you?

Britt: [ Chuckles ] You know, not many people would consider me a catch.

Spencer: Au contraire. If you haven’t found someone worthy of you, then you’re not looking in the right places.  Father! Hey. Look who’s here.

Nikolas: Hello, Britt.

Britt: Nikolas.

Portia: I was married when I first met Curtis, and I didn’t tell him. Marcus and I were on the outs, and I had no business starting anything with anyone. [ Sighs ] And when I finally did tell Curtis, he just walked away. I’m sure he was just hurt and felt betrayed.

Terry: So what are you saying? You really think Curtis is out for revenge?

Portia: No. God, no, of course not. No, I’m just, um… I don’t know. I guess I’m just a little scared. You know, what if I open myself up to him and then he has a change of heart and he walks away again, you know? [ Clears throat ] I haven’t really let myself be vulnerable since.

Terry: Since Curtis.

Portia: I mean, I’ve dated and stuff, but… you know. [ Stammers ] I just had other priorities, you know? I got to make sure that Trina’s okay and my career. Right?

Terry: Fair enough. Fair enough. That was then and this is now. Trina’s on her way to college, and your career is well-established. Sounds like it’s been a long time since you’ve let yourself be happy with a man. And things with Curtis sound promising. But what do I know? I’m just an oncologist, not a psychologist.

[ Both chuckle ]

Terry: Tell you what. I’m going. I’ll meet you at The Savoy in a few or at the Metro Court for dinner later. Your choice.

Curtis: Alright, you having a good evening? My bartender, N’neka, taking care of you?

Brando: Yes, she is. Everything’s great. House beer — first rate.

Curtis: Glad to hear it.

Brando: Can I ask you something?

Curtis: Uh, yeah, sure.

Brando: Have you ever had a woman give you an ultimatum? Said, “do this or you can’t be in my life”?

Curtis: Okay, it sounds like your lady, and she must have a good reason.

Brando: Eh… Sasha thinks that… she doesn’t like certain aspects of my life. She thinks they’re dangerous.

Curtis: Sasha. Oh, okay. Well, it sounds like she’s concerned that something might happen to you. Does she do this all the time? You know, ultimatums, giving orders?

Brando: No, no, no. She’s great. I mean, we respect each other.

Curtis: So are you sure it was an ultimatum or was she just being honest with you about what she can and cannot live with?

Brando: Yeah. Yeah, okay. I hadn’t thought of it that way.

Curtis: And to answer your first question, I don’t recall a woman ever doing that to me, but I’m sure I’ve done it. Sometimes you’ve got to say what you want, even if it means you might lose what you have.

Sasha: Willow is a pretty honest person. What do you think she’s holding back?

Chase: When Willow and I got married, we thought I only had a few hours to live. And now she’s stuck with an invalid husband.

Sasha: You’re recovering, Chase. And I say this with love, but you are an idiot if you think that Willow is anything but profoundly grateful that you survived.

Chase: Yes, Willow is grateful and so am I. I know I’m lucky to be alive, but… I know Willow. And there’s something behind her eyes, something she’s holding back.

Michael: Chase is going through hell right now, but that does not give him the right to take his pain out on you.

Willow: No, Chase is mostly taking his anger and frustration out on himself. I just feel so inadequate. All I can seem to offer are platitudes. “Be patient. You’ll get there.”

Michael: Willow, Chase is strong. He will come back from this. And you’re gonna be a big reason why he will.

Willow: I pray you’re right. I’m being selfish. Chase is the one struggling to get his life back, and I’m sitting here feeling sorry for myself.

Michael: Hey. You have to stop beating yourself up. You are doing an incredible job supporting Chase.

Willow: No chance you’re biased? No, not at all. And I’m the one who truly knows what this is costing you.

Stella: You compare yourself to the man who was there for TJ until he died?

Shawn: No, you are. I know Thomas loved TJ, but I love him, too. I couldn’t be his father because up until recently, I didn’t know I was his father.

Stella: And until recently, you were behind bars. Where you should have been a lot sooner for killing my nephew.

Shawn: Thomas was my best friend.

Stella: [ Scoffs ]

Shawn: But he snapped. He threatened to kill me. I shot on self-defense. I’ll carry the pain and weight of that for the rest of my life.

Stella: Oh, sure, sure. He was your best friend. But that didn’t stop you from sleeping with his wife. He snapped because of your betrayal.

Jordan: It wasn’t all on Shawn, Stella. We both know that.

Stella: [ Sighs ] Jordan, you and I have made our peace, but don’t expect me to offer it to the man who ended my nephew’s life. He’s lucky to be out of prison. If it were up to me, he’d rot there.

Jordan: You’re not being fair, Stella.

Shawn: Just…let Ms. Henry say her piece.

Stella: I have nothing more to say to you. Just please stay out of my way.

Shawn: I’ll do my best, ma’am. Jordan, thanks for dinner. Good night.

Jordan: Are you all right?

Stella: [ Exhales deeply ]

Jordan: You look shaky.

Stella: It’s been a long time coming. But I confronted him. I did it. And I stand by everything I said.

Jordan: Did it make you feel any better?

Ava: So, what did Victor do that has you on the fence?

Trina: Basically, he lied to me.

Ava: I don’t like the sound of that.

Trina: Well, it was more of a lie of omission, which is still technically a lie, but it didn’t directly affect me. So I guess I shouldn’t care.  It’s still bothersome. I don’t know. Maybe I’m overthinking it.

Ava: And maybe you’re making excuses for him, giving him a little wiggle room. Sounds to me like you like this guy.

Trina: Yeah. He’s interesting. Not like a lot of the guys around here.

Ava: Oh. So are you gonna go out with him?

Trina: Oh, we’re not dating. We’re just hanging out as friends.

Ava: Oh. Oh. Friends.

Nikolas: I thought you were gonna change.

Spencer: I was, and then Britt and I got to talking. I’ll go right now. I, um… my clothes should be back from housekeeping. Please, Father, help yourself to my iced tea.

Britt: Uh, Spencer. [ Sighs ]

Nikolas: I’m sorry, Britt, for accusing you of being the stalker. I was at the end of my rope.

Britt: I was sorry to hear that you and Ava are getting a divorce.

Nikolas: It’s not over yet. I’m surprised that Spencer is trying to matchmake. He and I have been cool toward each other since he’s been home.

Britt: But he is home in your hour of need. That’s something.

Nikolas: It is. I’m so glad to have him back. I mean, at least one thing is going right in my life.

Brando: Thank you for your advice.

Curtis: Look, man, you know what, sometimes I just like to hear myself talk.

Brando: Yeah, well, you said exactly what I needed to hear. Did I tell you I’m gonna be a father?

Curtis: Ohh. [ Laughs ] Well, now I understand the ultimatum, huh?

Brando: Yeah, yeah. I’ve been an idiot. I mean, there’s no choice to be made. How can I walk away from someone as wonderful as Sasha?

Curtis: Well, congratulations. I’m really happy for you.

Brando: Thank you.

Curtis: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. Keep that away, all right? This one’s on me. Consider it an early baby shower present. And good luck to you, brother.

Brando: Thank you.

Sasha: I think that you are holding Willow to a higher standard than your own.

Chase: What?

Sasha: Do you share all your doubts and moments of weakness with Willow? You might think that Willow is perfect, but she’s not. She’s human, Chase, and she’s scared and worried and just trying to figure things out as she goes.

Chase: I get it. I do. But she doesn’t have to hold it all in.

Sasha: Like you do? Loving someone doesn’t mean that you have to share every single thought with the other person, especially when you’re trying to protect the other person. And you’re both doing that.

Chase: And I’m not protecting her by snapping at her, which is exactly what I did today.

Sasha: I think that Willow understands how frustrating this is for you, and I know that she’s committed to helping you through your recovery. You don’t need to doubt her.

Michael: You’ve put your entire life on hold to literally help Chase get back on his feet. And I see you burning the candle at both ends while still managing to keep a smile on your face. I just — [ Sighs ] I don’t know, I wish there was something that I could do to help.

Willow: Michael, I know I’m — I’m putting more than my life on hold. I’m putting us on hold. Our family, our future. And that’s not fair, either. How long can I ask you to keep waiting for me?

Ava: It sounds to me like you’re willing to overlook Victor’s lie of omission.

Trina: I want to.

Ava: Well… then do it. Take a chance.

Trina: You still believe that? Even after the way things ended with you and Nikolas?

Ava: Yes. I believe in living life, you know? Not just watching from the sidelines. Get out there and enjoy yourself.

Trina: Yes, ma’am.

Ava: And be careful. And if this Victor crosses the line, he’s gonna have to answer to me.

Trina: Get in line behind my dad.

Ava: [ Laughs ] Yeah, right. And your mom. You have quite a lineup of protectors. Really, overall, Trina, trust your instincts. This Victor, he sounds — sounds like he might be a bad boy. They are exciting. But they can be trouble, too.

Spencer: Where’s Father?

Britt: He had to make a call. Not cool, Spencer.

Spencer: Huh?

Britt: “Huh?” Nikolas and I are over. He loves Ava. And I don’t have time for distractions.

Spencer: Things change. It’s only a matter of time before Father puts Ava and his farce of a marriage behind him.

Shawn: I heard you were still in the game. How about we work together?

Stella: I admit, lashing out to that man didn’t — didn’t ease the pain of losing Thomas, but I needed to do it. [ Scoffs ] You know I speak my mind.

Jordan: All too well.

Stella: Go on. Say it.

Jordan: Stella, what were you thinking? Telling Portia to back off Curtis?

Stella: I was thinking you and Curtis need more time to work out your differences and remember how much you love each other. Jordan, I gave you the opportunity to fight for your man. Why didn’t you take it?

Michael: Hey, you never have to ask. I’ll wait forever if I have to. But you’re my future, Willow. So take that worry off your plate, okay? I’m not going anywhere. As much as I want to hold you and make love to you, I’ll go on being your friend and co-parent as long as it takes.

Willow: Michael, I love you. So much my heart hurts. I want you, too. And I’m so sorry. I wish things were different.

Michael: I understand your commitment to staying with Chase. So we wait. As long as Chase needs you.

Chase: [ Grunting ] Come on. You can do this. Do it for Willow. There we go. All right.

On the next “General Hospital” —

Brando (to Sasha): Sometimes you have to make choices. I’ve made mine.

Finn (to Elizabeth):  Monsters never really die. They haunt you forever.

Brook Lynn (to Valentin): And you’re sure that’s all you are? A team?

Sam (to Olivia): Dante told you about that?

Anna (to Dante): We need to keep that information confidential.

Stella (to Jordan): Do you want this marriage to be over?

Curtis (to Portia): Your timing couldn’t have been any better.

Finn:  Hey, sweetheart! Are you and your team ready for some snacks?

Violet: Mm-hmm. We’re starving.

Finn:  Yeah, a big-time game of T-ball will do that to you. Okay, here you go. Have at it.

Violet: These aren’t snacks, Daddy. They’re too healthy.

Finn:  Well, I’m a doctor, remember? I believe in a healthy snack.

Violet: My team is going to hate me.

Finn:  Oh. Well, we don’t want that.

Elizabeth: I hope it’s okay. I brought Aiden’s cupcakes for your team’s snack!

Violet: Thank you, Aunt Elizabeth!

Finn:  Yes. Thank you, Aunt Elizabeth. You saved my life.

Hopkins: Why are you so interested in my sister? What the hell is this? Aah!

Valentin: Move, and I break your wrist.

Anna: Alright. I want you to tell me about the baby your sister helped kidnap and the father, Peter August.

[ Telephones ringing in distance ]

[ Jordan sighs ]

Laura: Jordan. How are Alexis and Shawn doing?

Jordan: And good evening to you, too, Mayor Collins. They’re both in the interrogation room making a few phone calls to loved ones.

Laura: You’ll need to cut that short.

Alexis: Yes, I’m absolutely sure.

Molly: But, Mom —

Alexis: Don’t “but, Mom” me. I mean it. And the same thing goes for — for Kristina and Sam. The three of you, there’s nothing that you can do at this juncture. And if anything changes, I’ll let you know.

TJ: Is my dad with her?

Alexis: Yeah — uh, yeah. Tell TJ that — that he’s right here, and — and I’m going to hand the phone over. But I want to say one more thing. You have fun tonight and — and don’t worry about me for a second, and I love you.

Molly: I love you, too.

Alexis: Okay, here.

Shawn: Hey, TJ, you there?

TJ: You’re going to tell me the same thing Alexis told Molly?

Shawn: You got that right. Look, you and Molly enjoy yourselves. If I get any updates on my situation, you’ll be the first to know.

TJ: It’ll be good news. I know it.

Shawn: [ Sighs ] I hope so. See you soon, son.

TJ: See you soon, Dad.

Shawn: Ah, TJ’s hopes are up so high. He’s gonna be devastated if I get sent back to Pentonville.

Alexis: I think it might be unavoidable. For both of us.

TJ: Should we take our parents’ advice and spend the evening having fun?

Molly: Well, that was our intent when we came here. And it does make sense. I mean, after tonight, I may never see you again. You’ll be so busy doing rotations at the hospital, Dr. Ashford.

TJ: And you will be studying for the bar exam, Counselor Lansing-Davis, while continuing to work for the D.A. So let’s eat, drink, and indulge in each other while we can.

Molly: Oh! Did you order Champagne?

TJ: I’m afraid that is not in my budget. You have the wrong table.

Waitress: The Champagne is from the gentleman at the bar.

[ Indistinct conversations ]

Cam: Hey, do you need more sunscreen?

Josslyn: Oh. Yeah, actually. That’d be great. I can feel myself starting to roast.

Cam: Do you want me to…?

Josslyn: Please.

Spencer: Watch the hands, townie.

Josslyn: Spencer?

Spencer: Live and in person.

Josslyn: [ Chuckles ] Um, how are you? What made you decide to grace us with your presence? It’s been forever.

Spencer: I thought it would be forever until you two got together. How’d that happen?

Cam: Just lucky, I guess.

Josslyn: Mm.

Cam: So, how long you in town for?

Spencer: Oh, I’m back for good.

Anna: Well, I’m confused. I don’t know — I don’t understand. You just said that you were hired by Peter to take him off the roof at G.H.

Hopkins: That was the plan. But I couldn’t get the chopper close enough, so I had to abort.

Anna: If you didn’t airlift him out, how did he escape?

Hopkins: I have no idea. And I’m done. You have any more questions, talk to my lawyer. I don’t have to tell you or you squat.

Valentin: You’re not making your life any easier by walking out, chopper-head. In fact, you’re making your life a hell of a lot worse.

Anna: Because you have one shot to help yourself. Mr. Hopkins, are you listening? I need you to tell me what happened to Peter August.

Valentin: I think you agreed to work for Peter August ’cause your sister asked you to.

Anna: And the money was good. We know he wired you funds.

Valentin: So you can talk nice with us here, or we can charge you with obstruction of justice.

Anna: Have you fingerprinted. I don’t think the New York Methodist is going to be all that happy to have one of their medevac pilots arrested. Come on. Come on! What happened on the roof?

Hopkins: I couldn’t land. The hospital wouldn’t give me clearance.

Anna: So how did Peter escape?

Hopkins: All I know is that August told me he’d be alone on the hospital roof, but he wasn’t.

Violet: My cousin Aiden made cupcakes!

[ Children clamoring ]

Finn: You just made my daughter’s day.

Elizabeth: Oh, well, I’m happy to help. Aiden actually made them for his Little League team, so I set some aside, because I remember you saying that you’re responsible for the team snack.

Finn: Mm-hmm. And you figured I’d bring something like orange slices and carrot sticks.

Elizabeth: Mm, something like that.

[ Both laugh ]

Finn: Well, thank you for saving me from a week of my daughter not speaking to me. Too bad our other problem isn’t as easily solved.

Elizabeth: You can’t stop thinking about it, can you?

Finn: I’m funny that way when I… kill someone and hide them in the hospital freezer.

Elizabeth: Well, you didn’t do it alone, Finn.

Finn: I wish to god I had.

Cam: Well, last I heard, you were taking a gap year, touring the world.

Spencer: I didn’t realize you kept up with my activities.

Cam: Grandma gives me the updates.

Spencer: Mm.

Cam: And Aiden is all kinds of jealous. You know, with your studying in France, I’m sure he would love to study pastry cooking in Paris.

Spencer: [ Chuckles ] My school didn’t offer culinary courses. It was more focused on the traditional curriculum — languages, mathematics — and the extracurriculars, of course — riding, theater.

Cam: Oh, yeah. Grandma said you were the lead in every show.

Spencer: She exaggerates. I was the lead in most of them.

Cam: Mm.

Josslyn: Mm-hmm. So, Spencer, how’s your tennis game?

Spencer: Better than ever. Yours?

Josslyn: Oh, well, I focus more on volleyball now.

Spencer: Mm, such a waste.

Josslyn: Excuse me?

Spencer: Volleyball is a team sport. Wouldn’t you rather shine as an individual?

Josslyn: Mm, no, I’d rather play the sport I love.

Spencer: Mm. Well, if you ever want to get back into tennis, I’m more than happy to give you a tutorial. I won’t bother asking you, Cam. You swing a racket like a sledgehammer.

Cam: Oh, thank you.

Josslyn: [ Chuckles ] Wow. You have not changed.

Spencer: Did you want me to?

Josslyn: No. What I’d like for you to do is… cool off.

Spencer: Oh —

Cam: [ Laughs ]

Josslyn: [ Laughs ]

Spencer: Ah.

Cam: Well, Spencer’s still annoying.

Josslyn: Oh, I don’t even think he can help it.

Trina: Who’s this annoying Spencer you guys are talking about?

Josslyn: Oh.

Cam: He’s an old friend. “Friend” might be stretching it.

Josslyn: No, Spencer is most definitely a friend. I mean, we’ve known him since before you were even in Port Charles.

Trina: Mm, well, I can’t wait to meet him.

Josslyn: Well, you know what? I think this might just be the perfect opportunity for that. Trina Robinson, Spencer Cassadine.

Nikolas: I don’t want to interrupt your night out.

TJ: You ordered the champagne. It’s only fair you share it with us.

Molly: And congratulate TJ and me on our domestic partnership.

Nikolas: I’m really happy the two of you made things official.

Molly: Thank you. And not to be a downer, but I hear that you and Ava are dealing with a stalker. The PCPD keeps the D.A.’s office posted.

Nikolas: Oh, I’m glad they’re taking it seriously. Any news on your mom? I saw her a couple times early on, but I haven’t been able to visit lately, which is remiss on my part.

TJ: Guess he hasn’t heard.

Nikolas: Heard what? Well, please tell me you have good news.

Molly: Well, it — it wasn’t good for a while. In fact, it was torture for my mom. She was locked up in solitary.

Shawn: Jordan told me someone leaked to the press about the investigation into Judge Carson’s sentencing bias.

Alexis: Is that good or bad for us?

Shawn: I doubt it’ll make a difference in my case. I pled guilty to shooting Hayden Barnes. I’ll probably end up back in Pentonville.

Alexis: After everything Jordan’s done for you, why would you say that?

Shawn: Because I know how the system works — slowly, very slowly. The investigation into the judge could take years. And in the end, they could determine that Carson did nothing wrong.

Alexis: Carson’s the one that should be in Pentonville, not you.

Shawn: Well, thanks for the support. But I worry more about you.

Alexis: [ Sighs, clears throat ] I’ll be okay as long as they don’t put me back in solitary. Honestly, I-I can’t do that. That was humbling. I-I mean, I was not prepared for that. That’s a tiny cell and — and — and no —

[ Door opens ]

Alexis: What happened? Any news?

Spencer: Sorry I’m all wet, but my old pal Josslyn is still a prankster.

Trina: Mm.

Spencer: What was your name again? Tina?

Trina: Trina.

Josslyn: Oh, uh, Trina, you actually have a connection to Spencer. Trina works at Ava’s art gallery, and Spencer here is Ava’s stepson.

Spencer: Not for much longer. Ava and my father are splitting up. Soon he’ll just be my father, and Ava won’t be my anything.

Josslyn: Mm, Spencer hasn’t forgiven Ava for forcing his dad into marriage.

Trina: Mm.

Josslyn: Spencer has been in France at boarding school for the past — I don’t know how many years.

Trina: Boarding school? France? You’re just full of surprises. I bet you left a trail of broken hearts behind.

Josslyn: Oh, well, he hasn’t taken the time to fill us in on his love life. But, uh, don’t get any ideas about Trina, okay, because she is all about her mystery man.

Trina: Victor. But he’s never met Cam or Joss. And when he and I took a selfie on his phone, he never sent it to me to show them. I wonder why.

Cam: Joss and I are starting to believe that this Victor guy doesn’t even exist.

Trina: It’s no great loss. I thought Victor was cool. Turns out he’s a total jerk.

TJ: To my beautiful, intelligent, and courageous domestic partner, for exposing Judge Carson’s bias to the world.

Molly: Well, my mom deserves credit for researching the judge and her biased sentences. And Martin Grey got the recording of Judge Carson admitting that she sentences people of color more harshly than she does white people.

Nikolas: Your mom must be incredibly proud.

Molly: Yeah, well, proud of me and relieved to be out of Pentonville. TJ’s mom made an arrangement to transfer my mom to the PCPD lockup for the time being.

Nikolas: God. I wish I’d known about the tough time that Alexis was going through.

Molly: Hopefully the worst is over.

TJ: Now that Judge Carson’s biases have been leaked to the press, the Attorney General’s office is under pressure to start an investigation.

Nikolas: Is there a chance that Alexis could go free?

Alexis: When the two of you get all sphinx-like, I get nervous. Are Shawn and I going back to Pentonville?

Shawn: Is this about the media leak you mentioned?

Laura: Uh, let’s just say that the Attorney General has called me to let me know that she is going to make the investigation into Judge Carson her top priority.

Alexis: Great. Do you know who leaked the story so I can send them flowers?

Shawn: Oh, I’m sure they have no idea.

Jordan: Well, Judge Carson’s rulings are in public record, so the leak could have come from anyone.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Jordan: It’s the A.G.

Laura: I told her to call you from now on. So, um… the A.G. and the governor are both very nervous about the amount of press around Judge Carson.

Shawn: Well, that’s good for us, right?

Laura: Not necessarily. That’s why I wanted to talk to you first, before you talk to your kids, before you get anybody’s hopes up. It’s just that I know how politicians operate. They need to talk out every single issue, and sometimes, it takes months. Even years. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. But it is still a waiting game.

Anna: There was another person on the roof with Peter?

Hopkins: Yeah. I was supposed to take only August to Pautuck. This other person could have implicated me in August’s escape, so I was relieved when G.H. wouldn’t give me the clearance to land.

Anna: Can you describe this other person that was on the roof?

Elizabeth: Finn, you really need to hear me when I say I don’t regret in the least helping you hide Peter’s body.

Violet: Hi.

Finn: Oh, wow. Let me get that for you.

Elizabeth: Looks like Aiden’s cupcakes are popular!

Violet: Mm-hmm. My team voted that he should make them for all our games.

Elizabeth: Oh, well, you’ll have to ask him if he wants to.

Violet: Okay.

Finn: Hey, are you ready? It’s almost your turn to bat.

Violet: Um, can you show me one more time just in case?

Finn: Yeah, yeah. Come here. Let’s do this right here. We’re gonna do it just like we practiced, okay? See, you take the bat. We’ve got our feet — we got our feet kind of shoulder-width apart like that. Stay like that. Uh, grip up a little bit here. Alright, and then we keep the eye on the ball. We imagine the ball right in front of us, right? And who are we looking at? Are we looking at the other players?

Violet: No.

Finn: No. Are we looking at the coach?

Violet: No way. We’re looking at the ball.

Finn: That’s right. We’re keeping our eye on the ball. We’re looking at the ball all the way in. And when everything feels right in the universe, we’re gonna swing. We’re gonna swing nice and level with our eye on the ball, okay? Just like that. That is perfect, right? You ready?

Violet: Thank you, Daddy. I’m ready now.

Finn: Alright, sweetie. I love you. Go get a hit.

Elizabeth: I wish we could watch our kids’ games all summer long.

Finn: Me, too. Without having to worry about a body in a freezer.

Elizabeth: And no way to get him out without someone seeing us.

Spencer: I seem to be, uh, dripping. Trina, you want to come tell me a little bit about, uh, Ava’s gallery?

Trina: Sure, why not?

Spencer: Right. Excuse us.

Josslyn: Do you think that Spencer is interested in Trina?

Cam: Well, if he is, he’s got a tough hill to climb. She doesn’t seem interested at all.

Josslyn: Yeah, I know. You know, Trina seemed mad at Spencer, which is strange since they’ve never met. But, you know, then again, you don’t really need to know Spencer for very long for him to rub you the wrong way.

Cam: As long as you’re not interested in Spencer, I don’t really care what Trina thinks.

Josslyn: Jealous already? Don’t you know? You were always the guy I wanted the most when we were kids.

Spencer: Trina, I am so sorry about lying to you —

Trina: I’m not interested in your apology, Spencer. I just lied by omission to my best friends because of you. Why would you pretend to be some guy named Victor? And before you lie again, you should know I’m very perceptive. If I suspect you’re being anything less than truthful, I’ll tell Cam and Joss all about how we really met.

Molly: In a perfect world, yeah, Mom would go free.

Nikolas: But this isn’t a perfect world.

Molly: Well, in Mom’s case, her sentence makes sense for the crime that she pled guilty to. I mean, she nearly killed Dante.

TJ: Which she admitted to.

Molly: Yeah. I-I just hope that Mom doesn’t have to go back to Pentonville.

TJ: It sounds like Judge Carson has influence with the deputy warden who’s in a position to make things difficult for Alexis.

Molly: Well, technically speaking, Mom did have an altercation with a guard. But, I mean, you guys know my mom. She’s not a very physical person, so it couldn’t have been much.

TJ: Alexis still got sent to solitary, and not just for a few hours. She was there for three days.

Nikolas: If I can help in any way…

TJ: Well, the thing is, Alexis didn’t go after Judge Carson on her own behalf. She did it for my dad. She was trying to get him out of prison.

Nikolas: Is there — is there a chance that Shawn could be released?

Laura: The governor is going to wait until the investigation reaches a conclusion, and then he’ll take action.

Shawn: But what about Alexis? She shouldn’t have to go back to Pentonville. The deputy warden is definitely biased against her. There’s no other explanation for a three-day sentence in solitary for such a minor infraction.

Alexis: What did the Attorney General say?

Jordan: A lot. Said your sentence is suitable for your crime, meaning you won’t go free. However, you won’t be returning to Pentonville.

Laura: Thank goodness.

Shawn: Well, that’s good news.

Alexis: That depends. Where am I being sent?

Jordan: Spring Ridge.

Alexis: I know that place. That facility’s right outside of Port Charles, and I advocated for my clients to be sent there.

Jordan: Spring Ridge has a low prison population with nonviolent inmates.

Alexis: Lots of opportunity to volunteer there.

Shawn: The guys at Pentonville called it a spa with guards.

Laura: Congratulations, Alexis. You’ll be much more comfortable there.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Laura: Oh. Oh, my goodness. Speak of the devil. It’s the governor. Excuse me.

Shawn: You don’t look very happy.

Alexis: No —

Shawn: I guess a prison is still a prison.

Alexis: I’m — I’m happy, and I’m really grateful. What about you and what about the others like you that were unfairly sentenced by Carson? I actually committed the crime I’m being sentenced for. You didn’t. And I’m benefiting. It’s not fair.

Elizabeth: So, how do we get Peter out now that the Cameras in the stairwell are working?

Finn: Thought we might borrow a gurney and a… body bag from the morgue, get Peter out of the hospital, and dump him in a landfill. Hey, sweetie, you got this!

Elizabeth: Yes, go, Violet, go!

Finn: Alright? Keep your eye on the ball!

Elizabeth: At least in a landfill, his body will decompose quickly.

Finn: Listen to us talking about another human being like this. A human being who I killed.

Elizabeth: Yeah, who deserved to die. You did the world a favor by pushing Peter down the stairs. He can’t terrorize anyone else.

Finn: I’m not sure the authorities are gonna agree with you.

[ Bat hits ball ]

Finn: That’s it!

Elizabeth:  Yes, Violet! Run!

Finn: That’s it! Go! First! Go to first! You got it!

Elizabeth: Run, Violet! Run, run!

Finn: You got it! Yes! Yes! Yes! Keep going!

Elizabeth: [ Laughs ]

Hopkins: I was distracted. I was attempting an unauthorized landing and was taking all kinds of heat for it.

Anna: Male, female? Height, build?

Hopkins: Male, tall.

Valentin: Was he dressed like a hospital employee?

Hopkins: He was dressed in street clothes.

Anna: Okay, what — jeans, t-shirt?

Hopkins: A suit, like… blue or gray. Uh… I thought he was one of you guys.

Anna: A detective? No. What else can you tell us?

Elizabeth: Yay! Good job!

Finn: Yeah! Good one!

Violet: I got the hit.

Finn: I saw. I was watching. Your hit was spectacular,

Violet: I did it just like you showed me.

Finn: Yeah, I know. You kept your bat level, and you kept your eye on the ball, and you ran so fast to first base.

Violet: The running was all me.

Finn: I know it was. But you know what? Game’s still going on. There’s no left fielder. Your teammates need you.

Violet: I’m glad you’re here, Daddy. I got the hit because of you.

Elizabeth: Aw, hey, what am I, chopped liver?

Violet: I’m glad you’re here, too, Aunt Elizabeth. This is my best game ever so far.

Finn: Ooh.

Violet: I love you.

Finn: Oh, I love you, too, sweetheart. I love you to the moon and back. Okay? You go get ’em, alright? Go get a hit.

Elizabeth: Good job, Dad.

Valentin: So, how old was this guy? What color was his hair?

Hopkins: His hair was dark. I’m not sure about his age.

Valentin: Dark. Was it long, short?

Hopkins: Long, ish.

Valentin: In a ponytail?

Hopkins: To his collar maybe.

Valentin: Anything else you could tell us, anything distinctive?

Hopkins: All I remember is that August was with a guy on the hospital roof. That’s it. Can I go home now? Oh, what is this?

Anna: You aided and abetted a murderer.

Hopkins: What are you talking about? I was contracted to fly a client. I didn’t even pick him up! I’ve done nothing!

Valentin: Peter August was implicated in a string of murders. We can prove that you’ve received money to help him escape. That’s a serious offense, certainly one that’s arrestable.

Anna: Okay, thanks, guys.

Hopkins: This is crazy! You got no proof! ‘Cause I did nothing!

Valentin: Do we believe him?

Anna: What, about the other person on the roof? I don’t know why he would make something like that up.

Valentin: I agree with you. But if Peter has another ally aside from the helicopter pilot and the nurse, that’s someone we know nothing about.

Cam: Something to cool us down?

Josslyn: Thank you. Huh. You know, Spencer and Trina seem to have a lot to talk about.

Cam: Yeah, well, Spencer has a lot to talk about with anybody.

Josslyn: Hmm.

Cam: And the only person I want to talk to is you.

Spencer: I honestly didn’t mean to mislead you.

Trina: You have no right to use the word “honestly” in a sentence. And who the hell is Victor anyway?

Spencer: My great uncle.

Trina: And why would you pretend not to know my best friends? And my boss? Why would you pretend not to know Ava?

Spencer: It’s complicated.

Trina: Is this the start of another stall? Don’t bother. Cam and Joss are right over there.

Spencer: Okay. Okay. I lied because I didn’t want my father to know I was back in Port Charles.

Trina: Why not?

Spencer: For three years, he let me believe he was dead. When he resurfaced, I didn’t take it well. And when he married Ava, I didn’t take that well, either.

Trina: Why did you even bother coming back?

Spencer: Because Dad is divorcing Ava. I wanted to show my support, but I wasn’t sure how he’d feel about me, so I laid low for a while.

Trina: He knows you’re back now?

Spencer: And he’s really happy I’m home. If he knew that I waited a few days before seeing him, it could destroy all of the progress that we’ve made towards fixing our relationship.

Molly: Shawn only pled guilty because he thought he shot Hayden Barnes. But he didn’t. Hayden was shot by someone else. No one knows who. Shawn was literally in the wrong place at the wrong time.

TJ: Diane miller plans to assemble a legal team to have Hayden Barnes’ shooting reopened and prove my dad wasn’t responsible. But my dad keeps telling me it’s going to take time. A lot of time. So we shouldn’t get our hopes up.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Molly: Or maybe we should.

Alexis: Thank you for letting me text Molly the news.

Jordan: Yeah.

Shawn: You just made her night out with TJ even sweeter.

Jordan: Well, let’s hope the next text is to TJ from Shawn.

Shawn: That won’t be for a while.

Laura: I wouldn’t be so sure about that.

Jordan: The governor?

Laura: Yes. The national press picked up the story about Judge Carson and her biased sentencing.

Alexis: I’m sure the governor was thrilled about that.

Laura: That’s why he was calling me. He told me he was going to make Shawn’s case his priority.

Alexis: Uh, w-what does that mean? A priority in politics, is that five years instead of five days.

Laura: Let me finish.

Shawn: Remember what I said about patience.

Jordan: Oh, I’m with Alexis. What did the governor say about Shawn?

Anna: What makes you think that this person on the roof with Peter is an ally?

Valentin: Okay, that’s interesting. Well, the hospital was searched from top to bottom. Everybody that was there the day that Peter escaped has been interviewed, so if this man isn’t an ally, why hasn’t he come forward?

Anna: Okay. So who is this person?

Valentin: I don’t know. Could be anybody. Could be affiliated with the hospital. Maybe not. But this man did meet Peter on the roof. Peter is Faison’s son. He has access to any number of support personnel. Could be a courier. Or maybe he was the one facilitating Peter’s escape.

Anna: Then why bother with Hopkins?

Finn: That’s it, Violet. Keep your eye on the batter. That’s it, sweetheart.

[ Bat hits ball ]

Finn: The thought that someone could have seen what happened with Peter keeps me up at night.

Elizabeth: If someone had seen you, they would have come forward by now. Yes, Violet, you got this!

Finn: You know, Anna could find a witness that the police missed. And if Peter’s body is discovered and traced back to me… it’d be devastating to Violet. I’ve — I’ve tried really hard to provide her with a sense of security and stability. Her mom’s been off the radar for a year and a half now.

Elizabeth: I still can’t believe that Hayden would voluntarily abandon Violet for so long. Finn… if something were to happen, if — if you were to get arrested, I want you to know that the boys and I would take care of Violet.

Finn: Thank you. Thank you. But what if someone saw you helping me hide Peter’s body?

Elizabeth: If they did, then why haven’t they said something? We just have to have faith that we’re in the clear. We can continue on with our lives and not let Peter take that away from us.

Laura: I saved the best for last. The governor has decided to commute your sentence to time served.

Shawn: Okay. W-what’s the catch? Uh, how long will the paperwork take?

Jordan: I mean, it can take weeks, sometimes months.

Laura: But in this case, the paperwork has already been handled. So effective immediately, you’re a free man!

Alexis: Oh. Oh! Oh! Gosh!

Shawn: [ Laughter ]

TJ: Congratulations, Mols.

Nikolas: I think we should order another bottle of Champagne to celebrate Alexis’ move out from Pentonville.

Molly: Well, I’m only sorry that her text didn’t include any news about your dad.

TJ:  My dad should have never been denied parole when it came up a few months ago. They said he was a model prisoner.

Molly: TJ and I were convinced that Shawn would be out in time to see TJ graduate from med school.

Spencer: Is there any chance that you can forgive me for lying to you?

Trina: For a while, I wasn’t talking to my dad. And when I finally did, it felt really good.

Spencer: So you understand why I didn’t tell him that I was back in Port Charles at first?

Trina: I get the anger. But do you really work at the Savoy?

Spencer: Um… no.

Trina: Then why were you there the night of my graduation party?

Spencer: I was thinking of telling Cam and Joss that I was back in town. But then when you came in all bloody and stuff, I realized that the timing wasn’t right.

Trina: Why did you pretend not to know Ava?

Spencer: Ava couldn’t know about my return, either. She would’ve told my dad.

Trina: And your mom?

Spencer: I would never lie about her. Ask Cam and Joss. Better yet, look her up online. Courtney Matthews. She died the day I was born.

Trina: I’m sorry. I just don’t know what to believe about you anymore.

Spencer: I get it. I do. And I’m really sorry. And if you want to tell Ava and Cam and Joss that I pretended to be some guy named Victor, I’ll understand.

Trina: But you don’t want me to, do you? You want me to trust you.

Josslyn: Okay, what’s going on? You two have been in intense conversation forever.

Jordan:  Hey. Mm.

Shawn: Thank you. I know you did a lot to convince the governor to commute my sentence, but what about all the other inmates of color Carson handed unfair sentences to?

Laura: Don’t worry, the governor is going to speed up the process of reviewing all of the sentencing. Uh, it’s going to be a long road. But I’m very glad it began with you.

Alexis: You are amazing. Did you promise the governor your firstborn son?

Laura: [ Chuckles ] No, I merely pointed out that his poll numbers might slip if he didn’t correct this horrible injustice. He is coming up for election.

Jordan: Mm. Finally, a politically savvy move that also achieves justice.

Alexis: You deserve this. You have been a model prisoner. You — you’ve been a rock star with the other inmates. And god knows you saved my life and my sanity.

Shawn: And you saved mine. Now I need to call TJ.

Jordan: Wait, wait, wait. I have a better idea.

Trina: Spencer and I were just talking about…art. He’s really interested in my job at Ava’s gallery.

Cam: Mm. I could see the movie title now — “Spencer Cassadine, Man of the World.”

Spencer: And I can see yours — sorry. What are your interests, besides Josslyn?

Cam: Mm, that’s — that’s funny. Mm. On that note, I think I’m going to head out. Can’t be late for work.

Josslyn: Yeah, I have a P.T. appointment. I have to work on my ankle. Um, can I give you a ride?

Trina: Thanks, but I think I’ll stick around.

Cam: Mm, have more to talk to Spencer about art?

Josslyn: Uh, call me later.

Cam: Welcome back. It’s good to see you.

Spencer: Thanks for keeping my secret.

Trina: I’m just glad you and your dad are talking again. But so we’re clear, lie to me again, and I’m out, and so’s your secret.

TJ: I suppose if there were good news about my dad, I would have heard by now.

Molly: I’m sorry.

Nikolas:  So am I. I have some calls to make, so I’m going to say goodbye. Enjoy your night out.

Molly: Well, thank you for the champagne and the good wishes.

Nikolas:  Least I can do.

TJ: I don’t believe it. What?

TJ: You’re out.

Shawn:  A free man.

[ Both laugh ]

Shawn:  It’s good to see you. Good to see you.

TJ: [ Laughs ]

Alexis: Mmm. Compared to the swill they serve in Pentonville, you have — have no idea. This tastes like the perfect café au lait from a sidewalk cafe in Paris.

Laura: [ Chuckles ] I’m sorry things have been so hard on you.

Alexis: Oh, Laura, you have no idea.

Laura: Mm.

Alexis: I cannot thank you enough for intervening in Shawn’s case.

Laura: Oh, please. It was you and Molly and — and Martin did all the heavy lifting.

Alexis: And Nikola– Nikolas gets credit for an assist, because he saved me from Cyrus Renault’s people. And I don’t even know how to thank him.

Laura: Mm. Well, his methods were dubious, but it was for a worthy cause.

Alexis: You have to admit, Nikolas has really redeemed himself.

Laura: [ Sighs ] It’s a huge relief to be able to recognize my own son again. I only wish that he and Ava didn’t have to deal with this stalker in their life. But anyway, you’re right. You’re right. My son has turned into the good man that I always knew he was.

Nikolas: Congratulations on the release, Shawn. Well-deserved.

Shawn: Thank you. Yeah, freedom feels good.

Jordan:  Well, what’s the first thing you’re going to do to celebrate?

TJ: Champagne?

Molly: Ooh, the Metro Court’s filet mignon?

Shawn: I wouldn’t say no to either, but my focus will be to repay my debt to Hayden Barnes. Someone tried to kill her, and they came damn close. I’m going to find out who.

Finn: Hey!

Violet: I caught the ball!

Finn: I saw! You won the game for your team! I’m so proud of you.

Elizabeth: Your cousins will be so impressed.

Violet: Can I go celebrate with my team and coach?

Finn: Of course, sweetheart. I’m gonna be right here. Okay? That’s the most important thing in the world to me. I owe her love and security. I owe her everything. And for her sake, I’m going to keep going. It’s not fair to ask you to —

Elizabeth: Finn, I’m not going anywhere. We’ll deal with this together.

Anna: If Peter had someone waiting to transport him, why would he book a helicopter to fly him out of there?

Valentin: Diversion? Contingency plan?

Anna: No, no, no, no, ’cause why would he go to the roof if he wasn’t going to board the helicopter?

Valentin: Well, Peter’s walls were coming in. He’d killed Franco. He’d arranged for Maxie’s abduction, his child to disappear. He needed to get out of G.H. He needed to disappear himself. But if Peter’s helicopter couldn’t land, then that just leaves our mystery man on the roof.

Anna: Yeah, you’re right. No, that person’s very important. But there’s something that we’re — we’re — we’re not seeing clearly. You know? Something doesn’t add up.

On the next “General Hospital” —

Chase (to Willow): I can’t be your husband.

Britt: It’s so good to see you!

Nikolas (to Jordan): Can you be more specific?

Terry (to Portia): The only place to be is at the Savoy.

Ava (to Trina): How’s the new guy?

Curtis (to Johnny): You gotta say what you want even if you might lose what you have.

Sasha (to Michael): I’m just not sure I want him to be.

Stella (to Shawn): Get out of my way.

Josslyn and Trina at the Metro Court pool

Best Lines provided by Suzanne

Valentin:  We’re hanging in an Irish bar. I’m not drinking a domestic beer.

Anna: Oh, god. Is it warm?

Valentin: Oh, yeah.

Deanna: I can’t decide who she looks like — you or Mr. Cassadine.

Brook Lynn: You know babies. One minute they look just like you, and the next they’re a dead ringer for Winston Churchill.

Josslyn: Was that your mystery man?

Trina: Don’t know why I gave that guy my number. I guess I felt sorry for him.

Josslyn: Oh? And what did he do to deserve your pity?

Trina: It’s not pity. Victor — he grew up without a mom. There’s something lost and lonely about him.

Josslyn: You like him.

Trina: Yeah. Same way I like stray puppies.

Brook Lynn: Oh, you just figured because you claim to be my family, which, by the way, we’ve heard a thousand times before, that somehow my business is now your business?

Austin: Really?

Brook Lynn: Okay, well, it isn’t. Maxie and I were just talking, so you can run along. Shoo. Don’t let my footwear hit you in the butt on the way out.

Josslyn: So, tell me more about Victor.

Trina: Uh, he’s excessively fond of the park.

Hopkins: Let me take a shot. Mm… you’re from London.

Anna: Oh, wow, you’re good. For an American.

Maxie: Oh, don’t tell me you’re a Quartermaine.

Austin: Guilty as charged.

Maxie: Oh, first thing you need to know about that family — never admit guilt unless you already know you’re getting away with it.

Austin: Getting away with what?

Maxie: Mm, doesn’t matter.

Maxie: Well, um, good luck with the Quartermaines. I really wish I could be around to see the fireworks.

Austin: That might be the case. Bye, cuz. I’ll see you when I see you. Unless you see me first.

Josslyn: So you’re not mad.

Trina: Why would I be mad that my two best friends finally wised up and realized that they’re meant to be together?

Josslyn: Well, because for a while, you and Cam —

Trina: Joss, please. That is so high school. We’ve matured since then. We’re four years away from being college graduates.

Josslyn: So you’re genuinely happy for me and Cam?

Trina: I’m happy for Cam. I feel nothing but pity for you.

[ Both chuckle ]

Cameron: Hey, so I got us some Shirley Temples. We can get sodas anywhere, so… a-are we good here?

[ Both laugh ]

Brook Lynn: And we all were quite shocked when he made his big announcement… except Monica. I swear, that woman, she has ice in her veins.

Maxie: Okay, well, can she give me a transfusion? ‘Cause I’m kind of freaking out right now that Austin’s gonna recognize you from that night in the woods.

Ava: I’m mortified. F-f-for the other night.

Austin: Oh, don’t be. No, it was fun.

Ava: It was fun?

Austin: Yeah, it was fun. I’m from a small town. It’s quiet. Not much happens in Pautuck. For me to be a-a part of a public matrimonial drama, that’s a big night out. [ Chuckles ] It’s like diving in the deep end.

Ava: Mm, off the deep end, I think.

[ Both laugh ]

Austin: So, how are things with you two?

Ava: Divorce. We’re — we’re getting divorced.

Austin: Sorry to hear that. Some differences are irreconcilable.

Ava: Actually, it’s a matter of life and death.

Spencer: It seems like your wife has found a friend.

Nikolas: I don’t know. Last time I saw her with that guy —

Spencer: This isn’t the first time? Interesting.

Nikolas: Spencer, don’t.

Spencer: Don’t what? State the obvious.

Nikolas: Don’t try to stir things up.

Spencer: Sorry. Old habits. Ah, speaking of which, you should kick this one.

Cameron: So, you told her.

Josslyn: Oh, she already knew. Apparently, we were the only ones who didn’t.

Trina: Don’t think this changes anything, Cam. Sisters before misters always. Capiche?

Cameron: Hey, do you need more sunblock?

Josslyn: Oh, uh, yeah, actually. I can feel myself starting to roast.

Cameron: Do you want me to…?

Josslyn: Oh, please. Yeah.

Spencer: Watch the hands, townie.

Lenny and Phyllis at the Tan-O on GH

Our Opinions

5 Reasons why Sonny and Nina in Nixon Falls Is a Good Story By Suzanne

I just started watching the show again after an absence of a few years. It’s not that I intentionally stopped watching…I just watch a lot of TV and fell behind. I was slowly, ever so slowly, catching up, but I’m still back in 2018. I’ve decided to try to watch the new ones so that I can edit our daily GH Transcripts and write some of the GH Updates while our regular writer Anthony catches up on past episodes. He’s behind, too. It’s so easy to fall behind in these busy times.  The pandemic slowed some people down, but for those of us who worked at home (as well as essential workers and others), we never slowed down.

Even though I haven’t watched many episodes in the past 3 years, I do still regularly read the GH news and spoilers, and I read other fans’ posts about it on Twitter and Facebook, so I know what’s been going on.

I know that a lot of fans are not happy with the fact that Sonny has been stuck in a small town with amnesia, away from his friends and family (who think he’s dead).  It’s not usually a good idea to stick one or two characters off on their own for too long because the fun of a soap is seeing everyone in the cast interact.  I’m not saying I’m a huge fan of Nina and Sonny’s “romance,” but here are a few good reasons to have this story.

#1 It keeps Maurice Benard happy. He’s the star of the show, as we were reminded recently when the shows EP said it. He obviously wanted to do something different than playing the same mob boss every day. It’s good to keep him happy so he doesn’t decide to retire. I know that not everyone loves him, but he’s very popular, so I do believe the show would suffer without him.  Even though they had to create a different town and set of characters, I give them props for doing a pretty good job of it. Lenny and Phyllis are very likable.  Maybe Maurice just got tired of wearing suits every day….he might be enjoying wearing those blue collar shirts. 😉

#2 It was a good choice for the Cyrus storyline because getting Sonny out of the way created a lot of problems for the other people in Port Charles, and they had to band together to get rid of him.

#3 It’s forcing Jason and Carly together. Now, most of us don’t really want to see them in a romantic relationship at this point. It’s been too long since they were together (1996, to be exact). They’re great friends, and they shouldn’t screw that up. I believe the writers are only putting them together to create more conflict for Jason and Britt (not to mention, Jason and Sam) as well as making it worse for Sonny’s eventual return. Hopefully, Jason and Carly won’t actually sleep together. Thank goodness she’s too old to get pregnant, too. Well, never say never in Soap Land…

#4 Having one of the characters leave town, lose their memory, and then everyone thinks he’s dead… that’s a soap trope by now. In fact, Sonny did something similar years ago when he was stabbed and nursed back to health by Angel (who was really boring). Micky Horton on Days did it way back in 1973.  Victor on Y&R has done it a few times. It happened to Tad on All My Children, too. Those story memories are just off the top of my head, so I’m sure there are many more examples.

#5 The eventual reveal will be great – when Sonny gets his memory back and finds out that Nina kept his existence a secret from his family. I’m sure Carly will have a few slaps to give, too. With a real mobster, Nina would be dead from that kind of thing, but Sonny rarely kills anyone, so most likely Nina will just be persona non grata for a while around Port Charles. It would be really great if Sonny just forgave her because he still loves her, but I’m not going to hold my breath. Will Jason and Carly be sleeping together by then? Maybe. There will be a long list of people just waiting to yell at Nina (or worse).

The only thing I don’t like about this story is that Nina is the perpetual victim. She always makes the worst choices when it comes to love: Valentin, Franco, Jax and now a married mobster. Soap characters often have these problems, but hers seem to be worst than most.  She was in a coma for 12 years because her evil mother put her there to steal her money, and she stole her baby, too. She can’t have more children, and the one she did have was dead by the time she learned about her.

It’s not only too sad to have her go through so many horrible love affairs, but it makes her look really dumb to keep making such poor decisions.  This time it’s not just her romantic heart on the line, but she’ll probably also have a hard time getting permission to see grandson Wiley again, too. It’s great for Cynthia Watros because she’s outstanding in the role, but I just wish that Nina would have a nice, fun fling once in a while.

Most people hate change, but life – and daytime drama – is all about change. Fans want their favorite couples to stay together forever, and that’s just not what these shows are about. I can’t wait for the fireworks when Nina is found out!

Recap written by Suzanne

Sonny phones Nina to tell her about Larry’s tumor. Nina will meet them back “home” in Nixon Falls and will pay for his treatment. Sonny convinces Larry to let Nina do that.  Nina is sorry to leave Wiley; she has a chat with Willow. Meanwhile, Brooklyn lets Maxie say goodbye to Louise when she takes her to the hospital for her checkup (Maxie is leaving town). They run into Austin; Brook Lynn is rude to him. Maxie has a short chat with him and is surprised to learn that he’s Brook Lynn’s cousin. In Ryan’s Bar in New York, Valentin and Anna track down the pilot who was supposed to pick up Peter and the baby, but he tells them it didn’t happen. They wonder where Peter went.

At the Metro Court, the teens chat and hang out at the pool. Josslyn tells Trina about her and Cam. She’s relieved when Trina tells her that she’s fine with it. Upstairs, Spencer keeps giving his dad a hard time about Ava. Spencer sees Ava and tells her they can get a no-fault divorce in 2 weeks. She wishes it were sooner. She and Austin run into each other at the bar. He can tell that she and Nikolas are still a thing because they keep stealing glances. She tells Austin about her stalker. Spencer leaves and greets his old pals Cam and Joss at the pool.

General Hospital Updates

GH logo

Update written by Suzanne

Sonny phones Nina to let her know that he’s at a New York hospital with Lenny and Phyllis. They need her because Lenny has a tumor. She panics at first when he says “New York,” worried that he might be in Port Charles. She is shocked to hear about Lenny and immediately offers to help out. He tells her they’re going back to Nixon Falls, so she’ll meet them there and help Lenny pay for any cancer treatments he might need. Sonny tells her that he misses her. Nina is spending time with Wiley but tells Willow that she has to leave for a while to help her friends. She wonders if Willow and Chase might want to have more children, but Willow admits they haven’t really talked about it. When Nina mentions Mike, Willow says she hopes to meet him one day. Nina tells her that Wiley is the only man in her life right now.

Lenny and Phyllis sit in the waiting room at the hospital and reminisce about their first meeting, when he was finishing. Sonny arrives and lets them know that Nina will be meeting them and that she’ll pay for any treatment Lenny needs. He objects, but Sonny tells him that they owe him a lot, and his life and health are more important than his pride. Sonny’s voice breaks when he pledges that they’ll fight the cancer together. Lenny gets called in to see the doctor, so Sonny consoles Phyllis.

Valentin and Anna hang out at Ryan’s Bar (ha!), waiting for the helicopter pilot that supposedly helped Peter escape with Maxie’s baby. The man comes in, so Anna goes over and makes small talk with him. He starts talking about his dead sister, but then he realizes that Anna is a bit too interested. He tries to get rough with her, but Valentin slams him down on the bar. They question him about what happened. He tells them that he never picked up Peter because he couldn’t get close enough to the roof of General Hospital. Anna wonders where Peter went, then.

Brook Lynn takes baby Louise/Bailey to GH to get a checkup. She’s arranged for Maxie to casually run into them as well, so she she can say goodbye to her daughter. Austin walks up to say hi, but Brook Lynn tells him to go away. She’s suspicious that he’s not really a Quartermaine. He seems mildly amused at her attitude. While Brook Lynn takes the baby in to the doctor, Maxie asks Austin about his background. He tells her that his parents were Jimmy Lee Holt and Charity Gatlin. She knows all about them from reading Lucy Coe’s book, and Edward’s unauthorized biography. Austin is surprised to hear that Maxie is leaving town, so she confides that being around little Bailey when she misses her own daughter has been too difficult for her. When Brook Lynn returns, Maxie demands to know why she didn’t tell her that Austin was her cousin. She’s worried that he’ll remember that her baby didn’t get kidnapped, but Brook Lynn assures her that he won’t. In a sad scene, Maxie says goodbye to Louise.

Meanwhile, Nikolas and Spencer are chatting at a table at the Metro Court about Cassadine Industries. Nikolas sees Ava and takes her aside to tell her that the fastest divorce they can get is a “no fault divorce,” which will take two weeks. She’s not happy to hear that it will take that long, and she’s worried about Avery. Nikolas gets a little suspicious when Spencer mentions a detail about Ava’s stalker. Spencer tells him that it was posted by someone on social media. Spencer keeps needling Nikolas about Ava.

Ava and Austin run into each other at the Metro Court bar and catch up. She tells him that she and Nikolas are getting divorced. He’s sympathetic. He can tell that she and Nikolas are pretending to ignore each other but still keep looking over at each other. She tells him about the stalker and about why Avery is with Carly. He says it’s a shame whenever parents are separated from their child. When he inadvertently mentions Maxie losing her child (in comparison to Ava being away from Avery), she gets a bit annoyed, saying it’s not the same thing.

Josslyn and Trina are hanging out at the Metro Court pool. Trina just got off the phone with Spencer, whom she knows only as Victor. She has sympathy for him because he grew up without a mom. Josslyn tells her that she and Cam kissed on the Fourth of July. Trina tells her that she could tell they were together, but she’s not mad because she’s no longer interested in Cam. Josslyn is relieved. Cam was with the girls but then went to get drinks so they could chat. After he comes back, he’s rubbing lotion on Josslyn’s back when Spencer arrives, calling him a “townie,” like old times. They’re shocked when they look up to see that Spencer has grown so tall.

General Hospital Transcript

Transcript provided by and proofread by Suzanne

Sonny: I know you’re busy. I didn’t mean to bother you. I just — I didn’t really want to make this call.

Nina:  Mike, what’s wrong?

Sonny: We need you. Lenny, Phyllis, and me. Is there any way you can come home?

Nina:  I don’t understand. What’s going on?

Sonny: I promised Lenny back in Nixon Falls that I wasn’t gonna say anything.

Nina:  Wait, back in Nixon Falls? Where are you?

Sonny: We’re all in New York.

Nina:  New York?

Valentin: Thank you.  We’re hanging in an Irish bar. I’m not drinking a domestic beer.

Anna: Oh, god. Is it warm?

Valentin: Oh, yeah.

Anna: [ Scoffs ] Did you get anything else from the bartender?

Valentin: That the nurse at New York Methodist is right. The medevac pilot, he’s a regular here.

Anna: Okay. So when he gets here —

Valentin: I know, I know. Subtle. It’s your show.

Anna: Yes. It is. Because right now, this — this could be the way to track Peter down and maybe find Maxie’s baby.

Brook Lynn: Hi, Deanna. Bailey and I are here for her checkup.

Deanna: Why, hello, Bailey.

Brook Lynn: [ Chuckles ]

Deanna: Are you extra pretty today? [ Chuckles ] I can’t decide who she looks like — you or Mr. Cassadine.

Brook Lynn: You know babies. One minute they look just like you, and the next they’re a dead ringer for Winston Churchill.

Deanna: I’ll see if the doctors are ready for you.

Brook Lynn: Great. Thanks.

Maxie: Brook Lynn.

Brook Lynn: Uh, what are you doing here?

Maxie: I hope everything’s okay with Bailey.

Brook Lynn: Oh, yeah, just a checkup. Look who’s here, Bailey.

Maxie: Thank you for arranging this meet-up.

Brook Lynn: Yeah, of course. You said it was your last chance to see her before you have to leave. And with Monica working from home, today was our best shot.

Maxie: Oh, yeah. The last thing I need is another gentle conversation with Monica about my fixation on “your” baby.

Austin: As I live and breathe. What are you two up to?

Josslyn: Was that your mystery man?

Trina: Don’t know why I gave that guy my number. I guess I felt sorry for him.

Josslyn: Oh? And what did he do to deserve your pity?

Trina: It’s not pity. Victor — he grew up without a mom. There’s something lost and lonely about him.

Josslyn: You like him.

Trina: Yeah. Same way I like stray puppies.

Nikolas: So, anyway, that is what’s happening with Cassadine industries. Are you sure this isn’t boring?

Spencer: I find it all fascinating. I especially love seeing you back in charge.

Nikolas: I’m flattered, but I have to ask, shouldn’t you be spending time with friends?

Spencer: I plan to, but right now, there’s no place I’d rather be.

Nikolas: Back at you, son. I feel exactly the same way.

Spencer: Even if it means your wife isn’t part of it?

Nina: Uh, wait, where in New York?

Sonny: Uh, somewhere in Manhattan. New York Methodist hospital. Lenny is sick.

Nina: Oh, no. How sick?

Sonny: It’s bad. He, uh… he doesn’t have much time. He needs you. I need you.

Brook Lynn: How is what we’re doing any of your business?

Maxie: Brook Lynn!

Austin: I was just —

Brook Lynn: Oh, you just figured because you claim to be my family, which, by the way, we’ve heard a thousand times before, that somehow my business is now your business?

Austin: Really?

Brook Lynn: Okay, well, it isn’t. Maxie and I were just talking, so you can run along. Shoo. Don’t let my footwear hit you in the butt on the way out.

Austin: How’s my former patient?

Deanna: The doctor is ready to see Bailey.

Brook Lynn: Thanks, Deanna. Excuse me. Private family business.

Maxie: Um, so you and Brook Lynn are related? How did I miss that?

Austin: I don’t even know where to begin.

Maxie: How about why you left your cozy country practice to join the staff here? Let’s start there.

Austin: Okay, well… Maxie, you of all people know just how quickly life can change.

Josslyn: So, tell me more about Victor.

Trina: Uh, he’s excessively fond of the park. How about you tell me what I missed on the Fourth after I took off?

Josslyn: You’re deflecting.

Trina: You’re right. I am. Glad you got that. Did you and cam do anything besides stay and watch the fireworks?

Josslyn: Actually, I’ve been waiting for the right moment to tell you.

Trina: Tell me what? Please, no. “Please, no” what? Please, no you and Cam. Don’t tell me you guys are at it again.

Nikolas: Ava, join us, please.

Ava: No, no, I don’t — I don’t want to intrude. Besides, we’ve — we’ve said everything that we need to say at Wyndemere.

Nikolas: T-that’s not quite true. I have something to tell you that’s gonna affect us and our future.

Sonny: So, what happened was we came here, um, for a second opinion on Lenny’s heart. And… instead, they found a tumor.

Nina: A tumor? Well, I wish I would have known. I would have dropped everything to be there.

Sonny: That’s why Lenny didn’t want me to tell you, ’cause he didn’t, you know, want to interrupt you with your grandson.

Nina: Well, as it happens, I’m with him right now. And his mother.

Sonny: As you should be. I’m gonna let you go, okay?

Nina: No, no, Mike, she’s helping Wiley get ready. I have a lot of time. I can talk to you.

Sonny: Nina, listen, there’s one thing I need to ask you, and I hate to ask you, and I know Lenny would hate that I’m asking you.

Nina: Well, you don’t need to ask. Cancer treatments cost a fortune. I would love to help.

Anna: Okay, so if our Mr. Hopkins makes a move, or he heads for the exit —

Valentin: He’s not getting past me.

Anna: Yes, but subtle. He’s — oh, I think we’re a go.

Hopkins: The usual. Thank you.

Anna: Oh, I just don’t have any bars in here at all. It’s like — do you have service? Hmm.

Hopkins: Let me take a shot. Mm… you’re from London.

Anna: Oh, wow, you’re good. For an American.

Maxie: I was surprised to learn that you had moved to Port Charles. You seemed so at home in Pautuck where you delivered my baby in the woods. Thank you again for that.

Austin: Oh, right time, right place. Just wish I could have been able to stop whoever took your baby. Any word about little Louise?

Maxie: No, not yet. Um, anyway, we were talking about you. No evading this time. How exactly are you related to Brook Lynn?

Austin: She’s my cousin.

So back to how you’re related to Brook Lynn.

Austin:  My full name is Austin Gatlin-Holt. My mother was Charity Gatlin.

Maxie: Oh, that — what? That makes your father Jimmy Lee Holt, one of Edward Quartermaine’s illegitimate children.

Austin: How’d you know that?

Maxie: It’s all in Lucy Coe’s book, “The Travel Guide to Port Charles.”

Austin: [ Chuckles ] That’s a thing?

Maxie: Yeah, you can buy it online.

Austin: Oh.

Maxie: It’s also in Edward’s unauthorized biography. So, how are your parents, anyway?

Austin: Well, my father died about six months ago.

Maxie: Oh, my god. I’m so sorry. Wait, so is that why you’re here in Port Charles? To connect with your family?

Austin: Yeah. Why? You thought I was here for some other reason?

Cameron: Hey, guys. Am I butting in on some girl talk?

Josslyn: Oh, no, actually, Trina and i were just talking about the Fourth of July.

Cameron: Best day ever.

Trina: The Fourth? Really? Not birthdays or Christmas?

Cameron: What about them?

Nikolas: Spencer, would you excuse us for a moment?

Spencer: Gladly. Whatever the two of you need to, um…

Nikolas: Stay put. I-I won’t be long. I’ve spoken to Martin. He’s suggesting something called a “no-fault divorce.”

Ava: Okay. What do we have to do?

Nikolas: Both parties have to agree that our marriage has “broken down irrevocably” for at least six months.

Ava: And you’ll agree to that?

Nikolas: If that’s what you want. But it will take at least six weeks to be finalized.

Ava: Six weeks?

Nikolas: It’s the quickest option we have.

Ava: No, I — it’s just that the stalker can do a lot of damage in six weeks.

Nikolas: I’ll make sure that the bodyguard is ever present and out of sight, just like he is today.

Ava: What about Avery?

Nikolas: Avery is safe with Carly.

Ava: For another six weeks. But okay. A no-fault divorce it is. And the sooner our lawyers get started on it, the better for everyone.

Lenny: I was fishing in the river.

Phyllis: I remember.

Lenny: When my line got tangled.

Phyllis: You were so mad.

Lenny: And I lost the flathead I’d been trying to catch. And then I heard you laughing.

Phyllis: [ Laughs ] Because it was funny.

Lenny: Not to me, it wasn’t.

Phyllis: I could see that, too.

Lenny: I was about to give whoever was laughing what for. Then I looked and saw you.

Phyllis: Mm, and you forgot about that fish.

Lenny: Now, you know that’s not how this story goes.

[ Both laugh ]

Phyllis: I would like it to go that way just once.

Lenny: The story is not as good if I’m not mad at you about rooting for the fish.

Phyllis: You got a point there.

Lenny: And why were you rooting for the fish?

Phyllis: Because I always root for the underdog.

Lenny: I was the underdog. That fish had the upper hand, and it doesn’t even have hands.

Phyllis: When I asked what you’re gonna do when you caught that fish, you said “bring him in, weigh him, throw him back, and catch him again.” That’s how I knew you had respect for life and much more patience than anyone could ever guess.

Lenny: Don’t tell anybody.

Phyllis: Your secret’s safe with me.

Lenny: [ Chuckles ]

Anna: So, I-I’m new in town, you know — oh, thank you. Big Apple. [ Chuckles ] Does anybody call it that anymore?

Hopkins: No.

Anna: No, I didn’t think so. Can be quite intimidating, you know. I mean, unless you have somebody that can, uh, show you the ropes.

Hopkins: You get used to it.

Anna: Are you a newcomer as well?

Hopkins: You could say that.

Anna: Oh, something that we have in common. So, what brought you here? Um…a job, a-a new life? Trying to reinvent yourself?

Hopkins: Trying to forget.

Anna: Ah. A woman.

Hopkins: Sort of. My sister. She’s, uh… she’s dead.

Anna: I’m sorry.

Hopkins: Thanks.

Anna: Well, I guess… something else we have in common. My sister died recently as well.

Sonny: Thanks, Nina. I-I knew you’d want to help.

Nina: Of course I want to help. Thank you for asking me.

Sonny: Now we just got to convince Lenny and Phyllis to accept.

Nina: Yeah. Yeah. Well, this is Lenny’s life that we are talking about. Of course I would always help. And pride be damned. After all the kindness that Phyllis and Lenny have shown me, I want to do something for them in return.

Sonny: They’ll be very happy, eventually.

Nina: Well, you’re just gonna have to convince them.

Sonny: After they give me hell for calling you in the first place.

[ Both laugh ]

Nina: So I could probably get a plane ticket to New York tonight.

Sonny: No, you don’t have to do that ’cause we’re heading — we’re heading home tomorrow.

Nina: Okay, great. Well, then I’ll see you in Nixon Falls tomorrow. In the meantime, if there is anything else that you need…

Sonny: Just you. I mean, you know what I mean.

Nina: No. I know what you mean, Mike. I miss you, too.

Willow: Somebody can’t wait to hit the water.

Nina: Just — just one second, okay?

Willow: Take your time. We’ll be outside.

Nina: No, uh, you don’t have to — you don’t have to go anywhere. Just one second, okay? Um, hey, I-I should run. The man of my dreams just walked in.

Sonny: Competition, huh? I know who’s gonna win this round. I’ll see you later.

Nina: Yeah, just give Phyllis and Lenny my love, okay? And, um, remember, don’t take no for an answer.

Sonny: Done and done.

Nina: Goodbye.

Willow: Sorry for interrupting.

Nina: Are you kidding? Your timing — it was perfect. It was perfect. Hey, Wiley. May I?

Willow: Yeah.

Nina: Wiley is just the medicine that I need. How are you, my man? I am so blessed to have you in my life.

Willow: Nina, what’s wrong? Bad news or…?

Nina: It’s, um — I found out a friend of mine is — is sick. And so just when Wiley and i are getting to know each other again… …I’m gonna have to leave him.

Maxie: Well, um, good luck with the Quartermaines. I really wish I could be around to see the fireworks.

Austin: Why won’t you be around? You going someplace?

Maxie: It’s been difficult to see Brook Lynn with her baby. She’s been very nice about it and has been letting me spend time with Bailey. We both thought it would help, but —

Austin: But every time you see Bailey, you see Louise.

Maxie: You have no idea. Hey, how was Bailey’s checkup?

Brook Lynn: My little angel passed with flying colors. So, did I miss anything?

Austin: Just tragedy. Miss Maxie’s leaving as soon as I’m getting settled into town. Best of luck.

Maxie: Yeah, you too. I think maybe you’ll need it more than I will.

Austin: That might be the case. Bye, cuz. I’ll see you when I see you. Unless you see me first.

Brook Lynn: Okay, spill. What does he know?

Maxie: More than I do. How come you didn’t tell me he was your cousin?

Trina: You know what would be totally fun and awesome to do right now?

Cameron: Go for a dip in the pool?

Josslyn: Yeah, I’m in.

Trina: No, this is even better. Let’s look at our classes.

Josslyn: Right now?

Cameron: I mean, we have all summer to do that, Trina. The pool, it’s like —

Trina: Is the pool going anywhere, Cam?

Cameron: Well, no.

Trina: But we are. To PCU. Oh, did you know that you can shop for your classes? Sit in on whatever you like, and then decide whether you want to take it or not? Isn’t that wild?

Josslyn: Yeah.

Trina: Like this humanities program. It says here this course presents readings from various countries and cultures. And I think we could all agree we could all use more exposure to other people. Or have you guys already decided what you want?

Cameron: Pretty much.

Josslyn: Cam, could you, uh, go get us something from the bar?

Cameron: Sure.

Josslyn: Thanks.

Trina: Well?

Josslyn: Do you remember when we vowed to never, ever let a boy come in between us?

Trina: Yeah, I remember. Why?

Josslyn: Well, first off, I need you to trust me when I tell you that that is still true.

Ava: Spencer is looking a little antsy. You shouldn’t keep him waiting any longer. Thank you for the update. And… just have Martin call Scott, okay?

Nikolas: Ava.

Ava: Broken down irrevocably. Remember?

Spencer: I’m sorry this is upsetting you, but maybe it’s better this way.

Nikolas: Better how?

Spencer: Ava might not be my favorite person, but if someone is trying to freak her out with something like a cockroach in Plexiglas…

Nikolas: How do you know about that?

Anna: What was your sister’s name?

Hopkins: Marie. My baby sister. Just a few years younger than me. Such a beautiful girl. And so smart. Too smart for her own good.

Anna: How so?

Hopkins: She was a risk-taker. Could… get herself into trouble. This time, she died doing the right thing, trying to save a baby.

Anna: Oh. She was a hero, then.

Hopkins: Mother was trying to run off with the kid, keep her from the dad. What kind of person does that?

Anna: I don’t know. So your sister, she rescued this baby from the mother and… what, gave her to the father?

Hopkins: Well, like I said, she tried, but… never got the chance. She fell, literally fell into a hole and… wait a second. What’s it to you?

Anna: Nothing. I’m just lending an ear.

Hopkins: No. Something’s going on here. Who the hell are you?

Sonny: Can I come in?

Lenny: Of course.

Phyllis: We’ve been wondering where you’ve been.

Sonny: Well, I just — I talked to the doctor and I told them to get started while I talked to you. We need to get a-a jump on fighting this thing.

Lenny: Well, thanks for taking charge, but —

Phyllis: But there’s no way we can afford it.

Sonny: Now, listen. You don’t have to worry about that. We — we got this.

Lenny: Who’s “we”?

Phyllis: You called Nina, didn’t you?

Wiley: [ Speaks indistinctly ]

Nina: Yeah, my friend in Nixon Falls. Not the one I was talking to, but another friend, he was just diagnosed with cancer.

Willow: Oh, my god.

Nina: Yeah, and if they don’t throw everything at it, then…

Willow: Of course you’d want to go to them. Look, Wiley will be disappointed about missing your pool date, but if you have to go —

Nina: No, no, no. I don’t have to miss the pool day. I-I want to spend as much time as I possibly can with this little guy. Mike is gonna take care of things on their end, and he’s gonna keep me posted.

Willow: I think I like this Mike person.

Wiley: Look at this red thing.

Willow: Yeah, look at that. Maybe we’ll get to meet him someday.

Wiley: It’s broken.

Nina: Well, the only man in my life right now is my grandson.

Josslyn: There we were, thinking about everything we got wrong. I mean, all of the signals that had gotten crossed or misinterpreted. And then we were… well, you know, it was… yeah.

Trina: Well, Joss, I have to say, I’m a bit shocked.

Josslyn: Trina —

Trina: Shocked that it took you guys so long.

Josslyn: Wait, so you knew?

Trina: When you and Cam were at my graduation party, I thought you guys were acting a bit different, but I didn’t want to say anything.

Brook Lynn: I didn’t tell you Austin claims to be my cousin because I don’t know if it’s true. Quartermaines get pretenders all the time. And we all were quite shocked when he made his big announcement… except Monica. I swear, that woman, she has ice in her veins.

Maxie: Okay, well, can she give me a transfusion? ‘Cause I’m kind of freaking out right now that Austin’s gonna recognize you from that night in the woods. He could blow our whole story wide open.

Brook Lynn: Maxie, we have been over this. Austin was completely unconscious in the woods. He doesn’t remember a thing. And how do I know this? Because he’s already seen me quite a few times and hasn’t made the connection.

Maxie: Doesn’t mean he won’t.

Brook Lynn: He’s way too busy trying to vindicate his late father to pay attention to anything else. Don’t worry about Austin, Maxie. He might be a minor problem for the Quartermaines, but not for your baby.

Austin: Hi. Can I get a rye Manhattan on the rocks, please? Hello.

Ava: Hi. Austin.

Austin: Hi, Ava.

Ava: [ Chuckles ]

Austin: You remember me. That’s a good sign.

Ava: Oh, yeah. Well, I may have been, shall we say, “spirited” the night we met, but I was not unconscious. It’s nice to see you again.

Austin: Likewise. I’m glad to see you. I’m glad it’s not an unhappy reunion. So, your husband’s here. You two are still doing that thing.

Ava: What thing exactly?

Austin: You know, where you try and prove to yourself and everybody else that you belong apart by showing up at the same time at the same place. How’s that working out for you?

Nikolas: Stop trying to change the subject. How did you know about the cockroach that was sent to Ava? You were half a world away.

Spencer: It happened at a restaurant. Some customer posted it online and people freaked out and it blew up on social media. And I saw it.

Nikolas: Did it? Can I see?

Spencer: You could have at the time. I think someone from the Port Charles Grill got in contact with the poster and had it wiped. It’s not there anymore.

Nikolas: Is that right?

Spencer: I’m kind of glad, too. It was disgusting. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. Not even Ava.

Ava: You would know that everybody runs into each other at the Metro Court. I mean, there are other restaurants, of course.

Spencer: Father.

Nikolas: Hmm.

Spencer: Don’t.

Nikolas: I don’t know what you mean.

Spencer: Except clearly you do. Maybe it’s time to turn the page. It certainly looks like Ava has.

Anna: I just was pointing out that we both lost sisters recently.

Hopkins: Why are you so interested in my sister? What the hell is this?

Valentin: Move and I break your wrist.

Anna: Oi, this isn’t subtle.

Bartender: Hey!

Valentin: No?

Bartender: I don’t know who the hell —

Valentin: NYPD! Go clean some glasses! Apologize to the lady.

Anna: Stay where you are.

Hopkins: I’m sorry.

Valentin: You gonna talk now, flyboy?

Hopkins: Fine, I’ll talk. What do you want to know?

Anna: I want to know about the baby that your sister helped kidnap and the father, Peter August.

Brook Lynn: Okay, hurry up and say your goodbyes before somebody sees us and tells Monica. I hate gossip.

Maxie: You live for gossip.

Brook Lynn: Yeah, about other people. Start talking.

Maxie: I know you’re not gonna remember this, but it’s okay. I will. I’m gonna remember your sweet little face, your tiny little fingers, and that brand-new baby smell. I’m gonna remember this moment and take it all the way to Texas with me. You know, they say things are bigger in Texas. That means I’m gonna miss you that much more. Love you that much more. And be your mommy that much more.

Brook Lynn: I hate to do this —

Maxie: I know. Time’s up. I won’t say goodbye to her. I can’t.

Ava: I’m so sorry.

Austin: Why?

Nikolas: Ava is not a habit. She’s the woman that I love.

Spencer: Well, she’s awfully interested in that guy at the bar.

Nikolas: They’re just talking. No big deal.

Spencer: Yes. Well, [Clears throat] I am gonna take off.

Nikolas: You don’t have to go, do you?

Spencer: You’re preoccupied.

Nikolas: [ Sighs ] I’m sorry.

Spencer: It’s alright. I-I really do have somewhere to be. I’ll see you at home, Father. Father, I can’t help wondering…

Nikolas: Yeah?

Spencer: …If Ava and company are having a real conversation, maybe it’s a bigger deal than you think.

Cameron: So, you told her.

Josslyn: Oh, she already knew. Apparently, we were the only ones who didn’t.

Trina: Don’t think this changes anything, Cam. Sisters before misters always. Capiche?

Cameron: I totally get that. I’m just wondering if those same rules apply to your imaginary friend.

Trina: He’s not imaginary, Cam.

Cameron: Okay, well, then how come we haven’t seen his Instagram or a single photo of him?

Trina: Because some people prefer not to have a social media presence, Cam. Right now, I don’t blame him. If you’ll excuse me, I left my cover-up in the changing room.

Cameron: Trina, I was just joking. Did i put my foot in it again?

Josslyn: What else is new?

Cameron: Us.

Josslyn: Yeah, I guess we are.

Willow: I promise to post lots of pictures of Wiley so the next time you see him in person, you won’t be too surprised by how much he’s grown.

Nina: Alright, I’ll hold you to that. And I hope next time I see you that Chase is back on his feet.

Willow: We all want that.

Nina: And maybe you guys can start thinking about a little brother or sister for Wiley. If that’s any of my business, which I don’t think it is my business.

Willow: [ Chuckles ] It’s fine. We just — we haven’t really thought about that yet.

Nina: Okay. Yeah. You know, Chase is probably — I know he will be a really great dad and you’re already a wonderful mother. I just hope that you get exactly what you want. My fingers are crossed.

Willow: Thanks. And hey, you never know. If you and Carly can start to get along, anything’s possible.

Sonny: Never leave me behind again.

Nina: I won’t.

Willow: Nina? Did I say something wrong?

Sonny: I’m sorry, Lenny. I broke my promise, reached out to Nina. She’s coming back to Nixon Falls.

Lenny: I wish to hell you hadn’t done that. As if this disease hasn’t cost us enough, n-now it’s gonna cost Nina precious time with her grandson.

Phyllis: Nina can make her own decisions. And since we’re all being open and honest, I’m glad you called her. And I know as much as she wants to be with her grandson, we need all the love we can get right now.

Sonny: She’s offering more than love, Lenny.

Lenny: No way.

Sonny: Why not?

Lenny: I won’t take one dime of her money.

Sonny: This is not about keeping the tan-o afloat or paying your utility bills. This is your life. It’s more important than your pride or — or a bank account.

Lenny: I don’t want to be indebted to anybody.

Sonny: Yeah, but listen. Nina and I, w-we owe you gu– we love you. You’ve given us so much. You’re gonna let us repay our debt. [ Voice breaking ] We’re gonna fight this cancer together. You got it?

Hopkins: [ Groans ] I-I swear, I don’t know what happened to the baby. It was my job to pick up the father.

Valentin:  The father Peter August?

Hopkins: Yeah. I was gonna fly him to the rendezvous point, pick up my sister, the baby, and the mother, and take them wherever he told me to.

Anna: Which was where?

Hopkins: Everything was need-to-know. He was very clear he’d give me the new destination when we were back in the air.

Anna: Okay, so you were hired to pick up Peter from the roof of General Hospital. After you picked him up, where did you take him?

Hopkins: I didn’t!

Austin: A stalker? That’s horrible. And — and you feel somehow that the stalker is forcing you toward divorce?

Ava: Yes. But we do what we must do for the sake of our children, right? And in my case, that means handing my daughter over to Carly Corinthos for safekeeping.

Austin: Oh, I just met her. She seems nice. Friend of yours?

Ava: No. No, she was married to my daughter’s father. And if I’m being honest, my daughter is… [ Sighs ] She’s happy there and she’s safe.

Austin: It’s just awful. Parents separated from a child.

Ava: It is indeed.

Austin: I mean, I don’t know firsthand, but I’m just thinking about Maxie Jones and her baby.

Ava: Well, that’s not the same thing. That’s not the same thing at all.

[ Cellphone rings ]

Nikolas: Yes, Martin. Yes, I told her. She says a lot can happen in six weeks. No, I’m not holding out hope that she’ll change her mind. I’m hoping that the stalker will slip up and we can bring him to justice of the Cassadine variety.

Cameron: Hey, do you need more sunblock?

Josslyn: Oh, uh, yeah, actually. I can feel myself starting to roast.

Cameron: Do you want me to…?

Josslyn: Oh, please. Yeah.

Spencer: Watch the hands, townie.

Maxie: You’re a little superhero, you know. You have a secret identity. To the world and to you. You’re gonna be Bailey Quartermaine now. But here and here, you’re always gonna be my Louise.

Brook Lynn: Maxie, I want you to know that, um, I promise this amazing little creature will always be cared for and loved, okay?

Maxie: I know. If I had any doubts, I wouldn’t be able to do this.

Nina: I already miss Wiley, and I’m not leaving until the morning.

Willow: Well, if you’re not heading back too early, maybe a quick breakfast visit?

Nina: Well, I’m — I’m leaving first thing in the morning, so that’s why we have to make the most out of today. Okay, little guy? Come here, handsome. Let’s go. Okay, wave to Mommy. Alright, let’s get out of here. Thank you so much. We’ll see you later.

Willow: Bye. Have fun.

Nina: Okay.

Nurse: Mr. Caulfield, the doctor’s ready to discuss your treatment plan options with you.

Lenny: Looks like I’m outnumbered. Let’s do this.

Sonny: One day at a time, right?

Phyllis: I know, Mike. It’s just that…some days are harder than others.

Sonny: Yeah, I hate that. There’s never enough time.

Anna: Okay, I’m confused. Alright, you said Peter hired you to take him off the roof of General Hospital.

Hopkins: That was the plan. I couldn’t get the chopper close enough, so I had to abort.

Anna: Well, if you didn’t airlift him out, how did he escape?

On the next “General Hospital”

Alexis (to Shawn): I think it might be unavoidable for both of us.

Nikolas (to TJ and Molly): Please tell me you have good news.

Cam (to Spencer): So how long are you in town for?

Laura (to Jordan): You’ll need to cut that short.

Trina: You’re just full of surprises.

Anna (to Valentin): Can you describe this other person that was on the roof?

Finn (to Elizabeth): I’m not sure the authorities are gonna agree with you.
