Belle: I can’t believe you. You’re just calmly saying that shawn’s baby might die and that that would be, what, a bright side to this?

Ej: Well, isn’t the child jan is carrying the reason you and shawn are separated? So if worst comes to worst–

Belle: Just stop it. Stop it.

Ej: Oh, come on.

Belle: No, you come on. Why are you saying this? What is wrong with you?

Jan: [Gasping]

Shawn: Come on, it’s okay, it’s okay, jan, it’s almost over, it’s almost over.

Jan: [Gasping] Oh, god, they’re coming so close together.

Shawn: They’ve given you an iv to slow it down, all right? It should kick in soon, all right?

Jan: Oh, god, what if it doesn’t? Oh. What if the baby comes today? It’s too soon.

Marlena: Oh, hi, sarah.

Sarah: Hi. Is kayla on duty?

Marlena: She is. I think she might be in surgery.

Sarah: I need help. I think the antidote is wearing off.

Kate: Lucas? Answer me, are you drinking?

Lucas: Look, that’s not mine.

Kate: Oh, my god. Okay, I think you can do better than that.

Lucas: I am telling you the truth, okay? That glass belongs to your ex-boyfriend, clyde weston. He just left here. I didn’t take a sip of it. I promise you. I swear.

Kate: Okay, I did see clyde leaving when I was coming in.

Lucas: Oh, great, thanks for trusting me, I appreciate that. Oh, wait, you don’t want to do that–no, no, no! Clyde drank out of that glass.

Kate: Trust me. I need it. I just had a talk with chad.

Lucas: So what? What’s the big deal?

Kate: So the big deal is that he thought I should know… that he told abigail that you’re the one who kidnapped sami.

Lucas: [Whispers] What? You got to be kidding me.

Chad: So when you say gwen wasn’t too happy–

Abigail: That I accidentally broke the stupid mug she made for my dad? Ha. It’s an understatement. She also said that she would “make…me…pay.”

Chad: Did she…say how she was…gonna do that?

Abigail: No. No, she was just trying to scare me. Could you not look so worried? The woman’s behind bars. There’s nothing she can do to me.

[Line ringing]

Gwen: It’s gwen. Who else would be bloody phoning you from prison? Look, I need to talk to you about abigail. If I don’t get to spend my father’s birthday with him, then neither does she.

Leo: Don’t you think you’re being a little dramatic?

Gwen: No, leo, I don’T. I asked her for one tiny little simple favor. I just wanted to make sure that my father would receive the gift that I made for him for his birthday. And you know what she did? She smashed it into tiny million pieces.

Leo: That was rude, but–

Gwen: Shh. This is what I want you to do. I want you to find the nearest sharpest object and I want you to stab her in the heart with it.

[Ominous music]

[Soft orchestration]

Marlena: What makes you think the antidote is wearing off?

Sarah: Xander and I, uh, went to see my mom to tell her that I had gotten my memory back and that we were together.

Marlena: I know, I was happy to hear that news.

Sarah: Thank you. And while we were there, I– I had a hallucination.

Marlena: What kind of hallucination?

Sarah: I saw kristen…and she had a syringe in her hand. And, marlena, it was so real. And I thought that she was coming after me again and then I realized that it wasn’t kristen, it was victor and he was just holding a pen in his hand.

Marlena: How did they react?

Sarah: They didn’T. They don’t know. I– it happened so fast that they just didn’t catch on, thank god, because I don’t want them to worry, but I– I’m scared to death. Do you know what’s happening to me?

Marlena: The important thing is for you to not to panic.

Sarah: How do I do that? I-I’m seeing things that aren’t there. Am I losing my mind? What did gwen do to me?

Leo: Gwenevere, this sounds a little extreme, even for you.

Gwen: Leo, do you remember our double wedding? You remember that was supposed to be the day that would change our lives forever? And then do you remember being dumped by xander and craig? So here’s the burning question. Why is it that you and i are always the ones who suffer when abigail and chad get to go on living their perfect, happy little lives together?

Leo: I am just infuriated as you are, but–

Gwen: Why is there even a but in this? My god, don’t tell me you’re folding. What happened to the bloke who said he wants to inflict pain on all the ones who hurt him?

Leo: I am that bloke. I told you what I did to sonny and chad.

Gwen: Pfff. Please. Come on, planting sleazy rumors in a tabloid that everybody knows is just chock-full of lies. No, we need to do what they did to us. We need to hurt them the way that they hurt us.

[Beep beep]

Leo: Gwen, I gotta go. My phone is about to die.

Gwen: And hopefully, so is abigail because if she doesn’t–

[Beep] Leo? Leo!

[Huffs]

Abigail: Gwen’s just going to sit around hating my guts like she always does. What’s new?

Chad: Well, while we’re on the subject of people who hate our guts–

Abigail: Oof. Did you talk to kate?

Chad: Yeah, I told her that you know lucas is the one that kidnapped sami.

Abigail: How’d she take it?

Chad: She was not pleased.

Abigail: Well, you told her I was going to keep my mouth shut, right?

Chad: Yep. Pretty much those exact same words.

Lucas: Why the hell would chad do something like that?

Kate: He didn’t have a choice, okay? Abigail got it into her head that she wanted to solve the mystery and she was planning on publishing the article about it in “the spectator.”

Lucas: Oh, my god.

Kate: Yeah, well, she’d already dug up your little friend pete.

Lucas: How? How’d she do that?

Kate: Well, apparently he got himself arrested again, so she was determined to go to wisconsin and interview him.

Lucas: Oh, my god, just what I need. This is great. Perfect.

Kate: Yeah, well, chad tried to talk her out of it, but he couldn’t do it and, you know, he was worried about what could happen to her if she went down to investigate. So…[Sighs] Well, he thought the best way to get out of it was to tell her that it was her beloved uncle lucas who kidnapped sami and frankly, sweetie, I can’t blame him.

Lucas: Well, I can blame him. What if chad or abigail tells ej? What if they tell ej or anyone else for that matter? I’m screwed!

Ej: Didn’t you say that if shawn told you immediately after he slept with jan that you would try and convince her to take the morning after pill?

Belle: Well, yeah, I did say that, but that’s not the same thing. The morning after pill prevents pregnancy–it doesn’t end one. This is a life we’re talking about, okay? And I do not, nor have I ever, wished this baby dead. But it could. It could die. Oh, my god. I am sitting here feeling sorry for myself, and shawn’s probably at the hospital right now freaking out, so I have to go.

Ej: Why would you do that?

Belle: Because whether I like it or not, this is shawn’s baby and this child could– I would never forgive myself if I wasn’t there. The lows of bipolar depression

Marlena: You are not losing your mind.

Sarah: Then why do I think that I saw kristen? The antidote is supposed to reverse the effects of rolf’s drug, right?

Marlena: And it has set aside a lot of the damage you’ve been through. But because of the dosage you have, well, there might… might be flare-ups. I know kayla has prescribed the medication for you.

Sarah: The one that helped abigail.

Marlena: But the dosage may have to be increased.

Sarah: Um… let me ask you something. If we do increase my meds, are these hallucinations something that I’m just going to have live with for the rest of my life?

Marlena: I certainly hope not. But you did have such a large dose, it’s hard to give you any guarantees.

Sarah: Oh, my god.

Marlena: We can… adjust the dosage of your new medication, but…it’s been so effective. You know, I think we have reason to be optimistic.

Sarah: If you say so.

Marlena: I also think you might want to talk to abigail. She’s been through all this.

Sarah: Yeah, that’s a great idea. Thank you so much for talking me down, marlena.

Marlena: Any time at all.

Sarah: [Sniffling]

[Elevator bell dings] Belle, hi, honey, what are you doing here?

Belle: Hi. I was with shawn when you called to say jan was in labor.

Marlena: Yes. Well, she was, uh, admitted a little while ago.

Belle: She can’t have the baby now though, right? It’s so soon.

Marlena: Yeah, it is soon. They’ve have her on some medication to slow down the contractions or even stop them, hopefully.

Shawn: Jan just passed out.

Marlena: Sorry, honey.

[Edgy music]

Ej: I was too direct with belle just now. I thought I was comforting her, but she left deeply offended. You wouldn’t have cared about that, as long as you made your point. I, however, do care. So I suppose I should find a way to…make this right. With no help from you.

[Deep sigh]

Leo: Good lord, I thought he’d never shut up and leave. Seems like everyone around here uses you as some kind of sounding board. So, pops, what do I do about abigail? Or…to her?

Chad: Well, you’re right. Kate and lucas have nothing to worry about. Have I thanked you enough for agreeing not to say anything?

Abigail: I can always stand to hear it again.

Chad: Yeah?

Abigail: Mm-hmm.

Chad: Well, I’m sorry for putting you in that position. I never want to ask you to lie to anyone, especially a member of your own family.

Abigail: Lucas is my mom’s half-brother. I’m not related to sami by blood, not like you and ej.

Chad: Ha ha. Keeping secrets from each other is part of my family’s favorite pastime. Keeping secrets from my wife is not something I’ll ever do again.

Abigail: There’s nothing you can’t tell me. I’m always gonna be on your side.

Chad: You’ve always stood by me.

Abigail: You’re my husband and the father of my children, and I also happen to love you a whole damn lot.

Chad: Oh yeah?

Abigail: Yeah. Uh, speaking of our children, I took my temperature this morning.

Chad: Oh yeah. Are you sick?

Abigail: No. What I am is ovulating.

Chad: Well, okay then, maybe we should probably get out of here.

[Soft, light music]

Time. It’s life’s most precious commodity,

Shawn: Hey.

Belle: Hey. How is she?

Shawn: They, uh… they rushed her to the or.

Belle: She’s in surgery?

Shawn: They said that she had something called a placental abruption.

Belle: A woman in my office had that. It’s where the placenta separates from the uterine wall.

Shawn: What happened to her?

Belle: She lost the baby. I’m sorry.

Shawn: No, it’s all right, I…I asked, so–

Belle: Well, what did my mom say?

Shawn: She said that she’d stay with jan. And I tried to go with her, but they wouldn’t let me. They just– they were all so serious when they rushed her out of there. I have no idea what’s gonna happen to her. Or to the baby.

Kate: Okay, look. Chad gave me his word abigail is not going to say anything.

Lucas: And you bought that?

Kate: Yes, I bought it. She’s not going to send her uncle to prison, lucas.

Lucas: Why not? She sent her own sister there.

Kate: Okay, all right. That’s completely different and you know it is. My point is, abigail hates gwen. She loves you. And she would understand that you were so desperate to keep sami from going back to ej, you–

[Sighs] Oh, my god, you did a bone-headed thing.

Lucas: I know that–thank you for addressing that now.

Kate: My point is, she’s not gonna send you to jail just because she feels like it. She’s a good person, lucas.

Lucas: She’s a good person. She’s an editor at a newspaper, and you told me yourself she was working on sami’s kidnapping story. What if she decides to run the story anyway? What happens then?

Kate: Oh, my god, I mean, god, I… maybe you should just…

Lucas: What? What? Spit it out, I know you’re gonna say it anyway, just say it.

Kate: Well, you’re not gonna like it.

Lucas: What’s new?

Kate: Don’t you think it would solve all your problems if you just told sami the truth?

Lucas: Oh, yeah, that would really work out great for me. Nice idea.

Kate: You don’t know! I mean, how many times over the years have the two of you forgiven each other for doing horrible things? Why wouldn’t she eventually understand and forgive you? Lucas, if you’re thinking of marrying sami, you can’t live with this secret between you.

[Distant background chatter]

Gwen: What are you doing here?

Sarah: We haven’t been properly introduced. I’m sarah horton. Oh, come on. My face has to seem a little familiar. Seeing as how you borrowed it to break up with xander as me. Gotta be a little strange for you, huh? It’s like looking into a mirror.

Leo: Hello?

[Distant laughter, chatter]

Chad: He’s never seen two people kissing before.

Abigail: In this house, maybe not.

Chad: Mmm. So is this whole, uh, whole temperature thing, is it real?

Abigail: It’s pretty reliable. I have some other signs too.

Chad: Yeah?

Abigail: Mm-hmm.

Chad: Well, then, let’s seal the deal.

[Intense percussive music]

It’s started. Somewhere between a cuddle

Gwen: Look, sarah, I-I… I really don’t want to get into this now.

Sarah: Oh, you don’t? That’s too bad. You knew that kristen was holding me prisoner on that island, and you left me there. Stranded. I’d probably still be there if it weren’t for abigail.

Gwen: If it weren’t for abigail, you probably would never have been sent to that bloody island.

Sarah: Oh, yes, please, please tell me–how is it abigail’s fault?

Gwen: That syringe that kristen jabbed you with… she never would’ve gotten her hands on it if abigail hadn’t have left it in the good old dimera secret room. You know she was planning to use it on me.

Sarah: Oh, that’s right. You’re the victim in all of this.

Gwen: I didn’t kidnap you, did I? So why don’t you just go find kristen a-and tell her all your troubles?

Sarah: Oh, I plan to. But I thought I’d start with you first. When they finally got back here, when xander got me the antidote that would end the hell I had been living in, that didn’t work for you. So you made sure I got a double dose of that crazy-making drug.

Gwen: You got the antidote, didn’t you? I mean, look at you. You’re…you’re good as new. You’re perfect. So why are you here bothering me?

[Intense, dark music]

Chad: Do you think today’s the day that we made a baby?

Abigail: I mean, if we didn’t, it wasn’t for lack of trying.

[Giggles] But I feel like we did.

Chad: What? Wow.

Abigail: What are you hoping for? Another girl or another boy?

Chad: Hmm.

[Sucks tongue] Twins.

Abigail: Twins. You realize we’d be seriously outnumbered.

Chad: Even with one more, we’d have to switch to a zone defense. At least thomas and charlotte are old enough to help out.

Abigail: You mean the kids who have clogged literally every single drain in this house with glitter slime?

Chad: Fair. Okay, so maybe another year or two. Our kids are… pretty precocious, aren’t they?

Abigail: That’s what the plumber said. Uh…speaking of our kids, what do you think about taking a little trip with them tonight?

Chad: Tonight?

Abigail: Mm-hmm.

Chad: Where?

Abigail: Well, tomorrow’s my dad’s birthday. I think I’d really like to be with him. So…we could all fly to boston together. What do you think?

Chad: I think that it is a great idea. Seems pretty sudden though. Think that maybe we could maybe leave in the morning? If we leave early enough, we’ll still have plenty of time to celebrate.

Abigail: Mmm… sure. Why not? I mean, what difference does one night make?

Shawn: So what, uh…so what are you doing here anyway?

Belle: I was worried about the baby. And you. You must be scared.

Shawn: Yeah. Yeah, I am.

[Sighs] It’s the baby that I never wanted to happen. And then I started thinking about…’bout whether or not it’s going to be a boy or a girl and…what it would be like to take care of a new baby and–

Belle: Yeah, well, there’s the best doctors here, right? And you said my mom’s with jan. She’ll make sure gets the very best care. She likes her obstetrician, right?

Shawn: You know, this-this thing that… this thing that happened to her, they said that the baby might be-might be deprived of oxygen and nourishment, and that it’s just going to be touch and go and–

Belle: Come here. Come here. You just… you have to keep believing the baby’s going to be okay.

Shawn: I just wonder how long it’s going to be until I hear something.

Belle: No matter how long it takes, I’ll be here with you.

Lucas: Maybe you’re right. Maybe I will tell sami the truth.

Kate: Will you?

Lucas: Of course not! No way. What do you think she’s gonna do when she finds out that i I kidnapped her? What is she gonna say, “let bygones be bygones”?

Kate: Well, no, not right away.

Lucas: No, as soon she finds out that I’m the guy who’s responsible for holding her against her will for months, you know what she’s going to do? She’s not going marry me. She’s gonna send me to prison. And then she’s going to go back to ej. She’s going to go back to ej so fast, our heads will spin.

Kate: Okay, look. Fine. I get it. I get it, I get it, I get it. And honestly it’s not like I want this information to come out either, you know? I mean, if roman finds outut I kept the information from him, that you had kidnapped sami, he’s never going to forgive me.

Lucas: I know, I know. Holding is a grudge is in the brady dna.

Kate: Oh, god, tell me about it. So it’s fine. Don’t tell sami. I mean, truthfully, lucas, I just hated seeing all of this eat away at you.

Lucas: You think I like it? I don’t like it either, you know? I got no choice.

Kate: I know. Tell you what, why don’t we… why don’t we meet here for dinner tonight? What do you say?

Lucas: Together?

Kate: Yes, together. Who knows, I’ll probably annoy you so much that you’ll forget all about abigail.

Lucas: Fine. Fine, I’ll meet you here later.

Kate: Thank you. All right, see you later.

Lucas: All right.

Chad: Keep doing that and I’m going to have to start trying for those twins.

[Abigail giggles]

[Door opens]

Abigail: Hey!

Chad: Hey!

Abigail: Done with your swimming lesson already?

Thomas: Mom, it was over half an hour ago.

Abigail: Oh, my gosh.

Chad: Yeah.

Abigail: It was. Pfft.

Chad: Time flies when you’re having fun.

Abigail: So, what do you guys think about going on a little trip to boston to surprise your grandpa for his birthday?

Charlotte: Can we go on grandpa stefano’s airplane?

Chad: I think the chances of that are excellent.

Charlotte: Yay!

[Both laugh]

Abigail: What do you think, honey?

Thomas: What if my loose tooth comes out? Will the tooth fairy find us in boston?

Abigail: Of course she will.

Thomas: It’s a he. And what about “minions”?

Abigail: Uh…what?

Chad: Uh, mommy has had a lot on her mind. Dimera’s doing a special screening of the new “minions” movie, and I said that we could go.

Abigail: Oh, well, what time is the screening?

Chad: It is…in like an hour. We can still make it, right, guys?

Thomas: Can you come too?

Abigail: I would love to–

[Beep beep] But, uh…oh, boy. I still have to approve the layout for the style section. My assistant’s going to send it to me in one hour.

Charlotte: So we can’t go to the movie?

Chad: Well, is it okay if I take you?

Charlotte: Yeah. We’re going to see “minions.”

Chad and abigail: Yes.

Abigail: But first you gotta change your clothes, okay? So I laid some things out on your bed.

Thomas: Cool!

Abigail: Yeah.

Charlotte: Bye, mommy.

Abigail: Excuse me! Hugs. Give me a hug here, you. Get over here, you. Mm-mm-mm-mm! Okay, I love you. Have fun at the movie.

Thomas: Bye.

Abigail: Bye. Mwah. May it always be that easy to make them happy.

[Both chuckle]

Sarah: You ask why I’m bothering you? Do I really have to spell it out?

Gwen: You got what you wanted, didn’t you?

Sarah: I had to relive the death of my baby! Do you have any idea what that’s like?

Gwen: Yeah, actually, I do.

Sarah: Try doing it twice. And, yes, I got my memory back. Thank you for asking. But even with that antidote, I still have hallucinations. I thought that victor was kristen, and I nearly attacked him.

Gwen: Oh, wow, wish i could’ve been there to see that.

Sarah: You are a miserable human being.

Gwen: I am paying for it now, aren’t I? I’m here, I’m stuck in this horrible hellhole. I have lost everything. I have lost my family, I have lost my freedom. I lost xander.

Sarah: You did it all to yourself. Xander and I are back together, by the way.

Gwen: That is only because my darling sister stopped the wedding. He loved me. He did. We were going to be married. That’s how much he grieved for you.

Sarah: Yeah, we sorted all that out. We’re very…very happy. So, think about that when they take you back to your cell.

Belle: Ej.

Shawn: What are you doing here?

Ej: I wanted to inquire about the baby.

Shawn: You couldn’t care less about my baby.

Ej: I understand how worried you must be.

Shawn: Yeah, you know what? I am worried, and the last thing I want to deal with is you, so why don’t you get the hell out of here? Well, what are you waiting for, huh?

Belle: Mom.

Shawn: Marlena. What happened in the or? Did they stop the bleeding?

Marlena: Yes. They did. Jan is going to be fine. But they had to deliver the baby.

Shawn: They did?

Marlena: He’s small, but he’s alive.

Shawn: He?

Marlena: Oh, yes, you’ve had a son.

[Emotional music]

Shawn: So the baby, he’s, uh, he’s all right?

Marlena: Yes. They rushed him to the nicu. He’ll be there for quite a while.

Shawn: Can I see him?

Marlena: No, no, they’re still evaluating him.

Shawn: Okay. Uh, a-and what about jan? Where is she?

Marlena: They’ve taken jan back to her room. She wasn’t completely out of the anesthesia yet.

Shawn: Okay. Uh… I should… I should probably be there when she wakes up, I think. Um… look, thank you. Thank you for staying with me.

Marlena: Well, I think I’ll go back to the nicu and see if I can get any information for shawn. Honey.

Ej: That must’ve been a lot to take in. I wish you’d say something.

Belle: Just get me out of here.

Ej: Where would you like to go?

Belle: Anywhere.

[Sniffling]

[Distant chatter]

[Line rings]

Gwen: It’s gwen. I need your help.

Chad: Are you skipping the brand-new “minions” movie to scroll through your feed?

Abigail: Pfft. Trust me, if I didn’t have to check this page layout, my butt would be right there in the front row right next to you.

Chad: It’s okay. You’re not really well enough informed of whether or not the minions know spongebob.

Abigail: We got great kids, don’t we?

Chad: We sure do.

Abigail: We’re lucky.

Chad: Yes, we are. Oh, uh, what was the whole tooth fairy thing about?

Abigail: You better get the kids rounded up. I’ll tell you when you get back.

Chad: All right.

Abigail: Hey. I love you.

Chad: I love you.

Lucas: For all I know, abigail could be writing that story right now. By the morning I’d be finished. Will and allie are going to hate me. Sami’s going to hate me for sure, I know that. And I might be headed for prison.

[Intense percussive music]

[Lucas groans] Ohh…

Ej: Are you feeling any better?

Belle: Even a gourmet dinner can’t erase this day, but the second bottle of wine definitely took the edge off.

Ej: I just wanted to say sorry for the thoughtless thing I said today. I never should’ve been so unfeeling about a child’s life. All I can say for myself is that it was a very ham-handed attempt to make you feel better.

Belle: And I do so want to. Please…make me feel better.

Hey! Rizczech!

Gwen: Oh. Hi, roy.

You missed bed check. Where the hell have you been?

Gwen: I have a pass to use the library. You can ask the matron.

We searched the library.

Gwen: Well, I fell asleep in a corner. Just woke up. Come on, roy. Where else could I have been?

Chad: Abby, you missed the best “minions” movie yet. Abby? Abby!

Kate: You told abigail that lucas was the one who kidnapped sami?

Chad: I did.

Kate: Why did you do that?

Marlena: It was so good to see will. I miss him already.

Lucas: Yeah. Well, he’ll be back soon. It’ll be nice to have the whole family together.

Marlena: , That’s– that’s exactly what he said.

Lucas: Did he?

Marlena: He did.

Lucas: Hm.

Marlena: Yeah, before he left for the airport. And, in fact, he used that exact phrase, “the whole family.”

Lucas: Ah-huh.

Marlena: Uh-huh. And then roman gave you a wry little smile and said something about planning a party?

[Cell phone buzzes] Oh, looks like I have to get to an appointment. So you’re off the hook– for the moment.

Lucas: [Laughs]

[Sneaky music]

Shawn: Is there a problem with the couch?

Jan: It’s okay, I guess.

Shawn: Well, you’ve spent entire days on it before and you haven’t had a problem.

Jan: Today is different. Today, I have my first appointment with marlena.

Shawn: So?

Jan: So normally a patient travels to their therapist’s office, not the other way around. Of course, I can’t do that because of the bed rest and high-risk pregnancy, not to mention this lovely piece of jewelry.

Shawn: Look, if you think I’m taking that thing off of you–

Jan: No, I fully accept that I’m under house arrest. Houseas not designed for a person who’s about to undergo a major psychological breakthrough. With that said, I can make sure that the conditions are as close to perfect as possible.

Shawn: Well, like you said, it’s your first session, so I’d keep my expectations low.

Jan: I know I won’t become mentally healthy overnight. But mark my words, I will get there. I will be the mother our baby deserves.

Belle: I was just returning your robe. I didn’t know you were in here.

Ej: Obviously not.

Susan: Oh! Well, I’ll be. Th-there it is again.

Abigail: There’s what again?

Susan: Abigail, I just got this feeling, you know, this very powerful feeling that there is a foreign presence among us. Yeah, there’s someone here that’s not supposed to be in this house.

Abigail: Huh. Well, maybe it’s the tooth fairy.

Susan: Say what?

Marlena: Uh, no. Actually, she spent the night at the dimera mansion.

Kate: Did we not just have a conversation about this where I said “do not say anything about the kidnapping?” And then you tell your wife?

Chad: I didn’t have a choice.

Chad: Yeah. He was arrested in wisconsin, unrelated charges. Abby had planned to go to milwaukee today to talk to him. I wasn’t gonna let her just leave the state to go find out the truth when I could tell her myself.

Marlena: Is that the reason you’re doing this?

Marlena: Well, I’d like to, but a part of me is afraid this might be a performance on your part, that you might be pretending to want therapy in order to appease shawn. And of course using me in the meantime to further that relationship.

Jan: No. I’m doing this for myself and for my baby. That is it. I swear, no other reason.

Marlena: Given your obsession with shawn and your attempts to try to break up shawn and belle, you can understand why I might be a little reluctant to believe you.

Jan: I do. But I can assure you, dr. Evans, that is over.

Marlena: All right. Well, if I see any sign at all that you are up to your old tricks, these sessions will end.

Jan: There will be no signs, I promise. All I want is to get better, just like ben weston did. And he told me that being in therapy with you was what really helped him more than anything.

Marlena: Ben’s worked very hard.

Jan: Right. And he explained to me that in order to get past the terrible things he did, he had to face them head-on.

Sonny: Will, I forgot my– what the hell?

Leo: Hello, sonny.

Abigail: That’s great. Thank you. Yeah. Thank you so much. Hi, so, um, I just got some great news.

Chad: You’re pregnant?

Abigail: No, no. Not yet. No. We’re gonna have to keep trying.

Chad: Well, it’s better than digging ditches. So what’s the great news?

Abigail: Well, you know, I’ve been working on sami’s kidnapping story, and I finally have a solid lead. I think I’m actually getting close to who’s actually behind it all.

Marlena: Belle, I know you’re upset with me, but please call me. We have to talk about this.

[Knocking on door] Oh! Kate.

Kate: Hey.

Marlena: Hello.

Kate: So sorry just to drop in like this.

Marlena: No. I’m always glad to see you.

Kate: Okay. Did you know that will was going back to arizona today?

Marlena: Well, not that it was today, no. That seems rather sudden.

Kate: I know. Anyway, so roman and I are gonna throw him a little going away breakfast, and we were really hoping that you and john could come over.

Marlena: Oh. Well, john’s working, but– let me think, I–oh. I can make that. I’d be glad to be there.

Kate: Okay. Are you all right? You just don’t seem quite like yourself.

Marlena: Oh. I’m a little worried about belle.

Kate: Yeah. Yeah, I heard that she and shawn are having problems.

Marlena: That’s putting it mildly.

Kate: So is she still staying here with you?

Marlena: Well, she was until last night, and then she got upset with us– she got upset with me, and stormed out and hasn’t come home.

Ej: [Chuckles] There’s that beautiful smile. What are you thinking?

Belle: I am thinking that this is the best I’ve felt in a long time and that–

Ej: That what?

Belle: That for the first time since shawn and i separated, as painful as it was, I feel like it happened for a reason.

Ej: Mm-hmm. So you and I could be together like this. And just so you know, when I said you could stay here last night, I swear I didn’t plan for you to wind up in my bed.

Belle: [Laughing] I didn’t either, but I’m glad I did. I’m really glad I did.

Both: Mm-hmm.

[Soft orchestration]

Roman: Hey. What happened to you?

Lucas: [Sighs] Ej dimera.

Belle: I can’t believe sami let you get away.

[Echoing] Ej. Ej?

Ej: Oh. [Grunts]

Belle: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to wake you.

Ej: Oh, it’s okay. I should have been up an hour ago. Did you sleep okay?

Belle: Yeah. I slept fine. Um, since I didn’t make it to my parents last night, I was wondering if you thought abigail might have some clothes?

Ej: I have a better idea. I’ll lend you a robe to wear down to breakfast, and we’ll have harold send for your things.

Belle: Oh. No. I’ve, um–I’ve already been too much of an imposition.

Ej: Belle, don’t you know you could never be an imposition?

Sonny: Will. Will, are you okay? You drugged him too, didn’t you?

Leo: I didn’t need to drug him. He couldn’t wait to get out of your bed and into mine.

Sonny: But this is my bed.

Leo: Not anymore. Right, pookie?

Will: Yes, pookie.

Sonny: Ah! Oh.

Will: What? What? What’s wrong?

Sonny: Oh, my god.

[Panting] Oh, my god. I just had the most awful dream that I walked in on you and leo having–in bed together.

Will: I’m sorry. Yeah. That qualifies as a nightmare. Sonny, that’s all it was though. It was just a dream, okay? It’s obviously never gonna happen in real life.

Sonny: I know. I just– I never thought that would happen to me again too, so–

Will: He really did a number on you, didn’t he?

Sonny: I don’t know. I’ve been trying to let it go.

Will: Sonny, he drugged you, and he took degrading pictures of you. Of course you can’t just let it go. That’s gonna take time.

Sonny: I know.

Will: But you know, as crappy as it was, it didn’t– it didn’t change things, right? It didn’t change us.

Sonny: Well, I thank god for that. I just– I can’t help but think he’s not done getting revenge.

Will: Yeah. I know. I mean, he said himself that he had other fish to fry. He has a long list of people he blames for craig leaving him.

Sonny: Yeah. Everyone but himself.

Will: He published those pictures of chad, and he did the same to you. I wonder who he’s going after next?

[Cell phone rings]

Leo: Hello? Yes, I’ll accept the call. Guinevere, thank you for checking up on me. Thanks to your directions, I’ve been able to wend my way through these tunnels. I was very robert donat, very “prisoner of zenda.” Ah, you are a film illiterate. Well, it’s not the ritz, but it beats sleeping on a bench in prospect park. Plus, there are some very nice amenities here at chez dimera. And best of all, your sister is right upstairs.

Abigail: So you know how i said I was gonna find sami’s kidnapper by tracking down the other guy, the one who got away?

Chad: Right.

Abigail: Well, I thought it was gonna be like trying to find a needle in a haystack, but turns out the guy just got arrested in wisconsin on completely unrelated charges.

Chad: How in god’s name did you find that out?

Abigail: [Scoffs] I just–I realized that salem pd stopped looking for him as soon as ej was released. And I reached out to this contact I have in milwaukee to help me track wisconsin arrest reports, and– it was a total long shot, and it paid off. This right here, this is where you would say, “hey, great work, abigail.” And then you’d compare me

Chad: No, it’s–it was grt. You–you found him. But was it worth it?

Abigail: Excuse me?

Chad: I mean, abby, do you really think that this guy’s gonna tell you a different story than the other guy, the one who testified that ej was the one that hired him?

Abigail: I don’t know. I guess I’ll find out. I’m going to milwaukee today.

Chad: No you’re– no you’re not. No matter who you are,

Marlena: So when belle heard that I had agreed to treat jan, she became furious, and she took off.

Kate: [Scoffs] Well, do you blame her? I mean jan is pregnant, and belle’s husband is the father of the baby. For years, jan has tried to kill belle. I mean, most recently, she kidnapped her daughter.

Marlena: I know all that. I do know all about all that, but truth of the matter is that, no matter what jan has done, she does deserve to get good mental health care.

Kate: Well, yeah. But it doesn’t mean that you have to be the provider. I mean, I think this would be the perfect time to make a referral to another qualified professional who perhaps doesn’t have personal ties to the fruitcake who’s trying to ruin your daughter’s life.

Marlena: Maybe so, but I am uniquely qualified to treat jan, and maybe if I can do that, maybe I can end this reign of terror she has against my daughter.

Kate: So you want this more than anything.

Marlena: Oh, I do.

Kate: Hm. Good luck. Although I have to say I think moses leading his people into the promised land was probably easier than you trying to lead jan to mental health.

[Cell phone beeps]

Marlena: Oh. It’s from belle.

Kate: Maybe she stayed with shawn last night.

Marlena: No. She’s with ej.

Kate: [Huffs] Really? I mean, I know that’s none of my business, but do you think something’s going on between those two?

Belle: Okay, I just texted my mom to let her know I’m here so she doesn’t worry. Hopefully, they don’t come storming the gates trying to rescue me.

Ej: You’re a grown woman. You’d think they’d respect your wishes.

Belle: Yeah, you’d think they would, but they don’T. Probably because I’ve been such a constant disappointment to them.

Ej: What? Belle, how could you say that? You’re a successful lawyer. You’re a wonderful wife and mother.

Belle: Oh, please. You know that people can look good on paper, but when you learn about how they got where they are and all of the mistakes they made along the way…

Ej: You mean to tell me you’ve made mistakes? Well, I’m shocked.

Belle: Well, you might be if I actually told you about all of them.

Ej: No, I’m sure I would not be, because I know you as an exceptionally smart, caring, and honest person whom I greatly admire and is too hard on yourself.

Belle: Well, thank you for saying that, but from my parents’ perspective, I think that they haven’t really approved of all the decisions that I’ve made. Like, for example, how I handled my daughter’s mental illness.

Ej: You couldn’t have handled it too poorly. Claire’s doing very well now, from what you’ve told me.

Belle: Oh, yeah. No. She is. Thank god. But I don’t give myself credit for that. You know, I was really in denial for a long time, and I think– I think that caused her and a lot of other people a lot of pain. And I think my mom still holds that against me.

Ej: There you go being hard on yourself again. And do you really think your mother holds that against you, that you didn’t have all the answers in a very terribly difficult situation?

Belle: I don’t know, okay? I just worry that she doesn’t think that I’m capable of making good decisions. And that is why I am here looking so sloppy.

Ej: No, you look beautiful as always.

Belle: Well, it’s definitely not how I want to look when I go crawling back to my parents.

Ej: I’ll ask abigail to loan you something.

Belle: Would you? That would be great. Thank you.

Ej: But first, I would like to ask you a question.

Belle: Okay.

Ej: Belle, do you really want to go back to your parents?

Roman: So you and ej got into it? Couldn’t have possibly been about sami, could it?

Lucas: Ej still thinks that I’m the one who kidnapped her. He’s still pushing that big lie, which is ludicrous, because everybody knows he did it.

Roman: Charges against him were dropped.

Lucas: Yeah, ’cause he’s a dimera, and dimeras don’t ever pay for anything they do. You know that. I mean, what I don’t get is, now that he’s gotten away with it, why doesn’t he just let the matter drop?

Roman: If he got away with it.

Lucas: I think he got away with it; he’s a free man.

Roman: Yeah, but I’m not sure it was ej to start with. I still have a lot of unanswered questions about what actually happened.

Leo: Ugh, can you hear my stomach growling out there in statesville? I need some breakfast to go with this fine bottle of champagne. Mm, I don’t know how long I’m gonna be here. I’m still working out my plan. But when I am through, chad will know exactly how I felt when I lost the love of my life.

Abigail: What do you mean, “no, you’re not going?” Please tell me that was not an order. Please tell me you’re not telling me not to do my job.

Chad: Okay. I’m–I’m sorry. That came out the wrong way. How about–look, how about– can we just talk about it, because I’m worried about you?

[Tense music]

Look, I just got you back from kristen, and now you want to track down some guy who kidnaps women for a living, and for what? The story’s old news. Ej’s out of jail. Sami is out of town. Nobody really cares who kidnapped sami, and ej just wants to move past it all.

Abigail: Has it ever occurred to you that if ej’s innocent that sami could still be in danger?

Chad: Lucas found her months ago, and nothing has happened. And like, what, you’re gonna put your life on the line for a chance at, like, maybe–

Abigail: I’m going to a supervised visitation procedure at a police station. It’s hardly putting my life on the line.

Chad: What if the real kidnapper finds out?

Abigail: Okay. Great. We’re in agreement. Whoever hired these goons could be dangerous.

Chad: Oh–you’re relentless.

Abigail: I am. Yes. And besides, don’t you want to clear ej’s name?

Chad: Yeah, but–

Abigail: Okay, look. You’re not gonna talk me out of this; I’m going to milwaukee. I’m going today. I’m gonna find out the truth.

Chad: Wait. St–just– okay, just listen. Okay, look, you don’t have to go anywhere to find out who really kidnapped sami. I know. It was lucas. With relapsing forms of ms,

Will: Okay, so we know leo’s gonna go after brady and chloe, right, and god knows who else. But the good thing is, the more people he goes after, the more likely it is that he’ll get caught.

Sonny: Well, I don’t know about that. I mean the drugs he gave me were completely out of my system by the time I took my blood test. You know, I–gosh. I just–I hate the way he gets away with things. That’s why I think I went so crazy when I found out about craig wesley, you know. I couldn’t stand him doing what he did to me to someone else and just getting away with it.

Will: Well, he didn’t get away with it, right? You saw to that. You rounded up your band of merry men and women, and set out to free craig wesley and, by god, you freed craig wesley.

Sonny: Now I just got to free myself. I got to get this little creep out of my head.

Will: I think I can help with that.

[Tender music]

Leo: [Sighs] I don’t suppose door dart delivers to secret dungeons when they could barely find craig’s room at the salem inn. I guess I’ll have to go hunt down my own breakfast.

Thomas: Who are you? And what are you doing in my house?

Kate: I don’t know. I mean, don’t you think it’s telling that, of all the people belle knows in salem, she went to ej’s last night?

Marlena: No. No. Belle and ej work together.

Kate: Ah. A business sleepover.

Marlena: They’re only friends, kate.

Kate: Mm-hmm. Well, from what I know of ej, he doesn’t have friends. Predators seldom do.

Marlena: No, trust me. I–I do know that. But belle is in no mood for any kind of advice from either one of her parents.

Kate: Ugh. It would be so much more simple if children just did what their parents said.

Marlena: I can’t even imagine how sami would react if she thought that ej was going after her sister.

Kate: Well, why would she even care? I mean, she’s with lucas now, and they’re very happy.

Marlena: Well, yes. I know they’re happy together, but it would still drive her over the edge if she thought that ej was pursuing her sister, even though ej had kidnapped her, and she was afraid for her life.

Kate: Indeed.

Marlena: I will forever be grateful to lucas for rescuing her from those kidnappers and for the friendship they’ve had all these years, through thick and thin, good and bad, up and down, ever since they were teenagers.

Kate: Yeah. Well, onward and upward, right? Let’s get over to the pub. What do you say?

Marlena: Let’s go.

Kate: Okay.

Belle: No. No. I don’t want to go back to my parents, but I also don’t want to hurt them. You know, they’ve been through a lot too. I just think right now I need to take care of myself and preserve my sanity as much as I can.

Ej: Absolutely none of my business, but I think that’s the right way to go.

Belle: Yeah, it’s the only way to go. So I think I’ll just do what everyone else in salem does when their life falls apart, and I’ll go get a room at the salem inn. I hear they have a very good rate for losers.

Ej: You’re not a loser, belle. You’re a strong woman who’s been put in an impossible position. You’re regrouping.

Belle: Ah. Euphemism for “falling apart.”

Ej: Well, given that your marriage has fallen apart, and in a very unexpected and painful way, I see someone who is dealing with an impossible situation with a great deal of dignity, character. You’re a lot stronger than you think.

Belle: Well, I guess I feel a lot stronger when I know you see me that way.

Ej: I always have.

Belle: Well, in spite of that, you definitely don’t need this, you know, some random, heartbroken woman showing up on your doorstep.

Ej: Damn it, belle. You are not some random, heartbroken woman. You are my friend. Now, I can’t change what’s happened to you. I can’t make your husband stand up to that lunatic woman, and I can’t put that lunatic back in the asylum. But what I can offer you is a guest bedroom, privacy, autonomy, and time to think. As much time as you need.

Belle: Okay.

Ej: Then it’s settled. I’ll tell harold to have your things brought here.

Belle: Ej, I–thank you.

Ej: Think nothing of it. And if you ever question the magnitude of what you’re dealing with, let me just say that this is the first time in my entire life that I have ever thought that this madhouse could be anyone’s oasis of calm.

Lucas: Well, what do you mean you have unanswered questions? Like what?

Roman: Well, like who framed ej by planting those phony transactions on dimera computers? And why bother to frame him if he actually was guilty? I mean it’s usually innocent people who get framed.

Lucas: Do you think ej’s innocent?

Roman: He’s not usually, but in this case, the cop part of me says it just doesn’t add up.

Lucas: Well, the guy who held sami captive said that ej hired him, so for me, that’s pretty much all the proof I need. You know, and now that ej’s got a walk, I’m gonna make sure he stays away from sami for good.

Roman: Okay, if you need help with that, let me know. I may not be sure that ej kidnapped sami, but I’m damn sure he is a creep.

Lucas: Well, amen to that. Thank you. So, uh, roman–

Roman: So, uh, lucas?

Lucas: Um, well, sami and I, you know, over the years, you know, through all the weddings and the divorces– I just want to make sure that I get things right from the start this time.

Roman: Uh, good idea.

Lucas: Right, so, um, I’m asking your permission to marry sami.

Abigail: You’re telling me that it was lucas who kidnapped sami? No. No, no, no. Dimeras kidnap people, but not hortons.

Chad: It’s the truth.

Abigail: How can it be? Why would lucas kidnap sami?

Chad: To keep sami from going back to ej.

Abigail: You’re sure?

Chad: I caught him planting fake financial reports on my computer to frame ej. And then he–lucas basically admitted everything and begged me to keep my mouth shut, to let ej take the fall.

Abigail: And you just went along with it?

Chad: Well, I didn’t want lucas to go to prison, and ej wasn’t exactly my favorite person at that time.

Abigail: Wait a–okay. Wait. So that was months ago. You’ve known all this time?

Chad: There were so many times that I wanted to tell you the truth. And I knew that ej could go to prison for years for something that he didn’t do. I was gonna come clean about everything, testify at the trial.

Abigail: But then you thought that he kissed me at the courthouse, so you kept your mouth shut and watched as he was shipped off to prison.

Chad: And then I found out that it wasn’t him, so I was going to come forward again. But then belle got the charges dropped and got him out of prison, and then kate convinced me that lucas wasn’t a threat to sami. But since ej was released, telling the truth wasn’t gonna help anyone, but it would screw up my relationship with ej big time, probably permanently.

Abigail: I can’t believe this.

Chad: I’m sorry. And I know that I have no right to ask you this, but can you please keep this between us?

Ej: Keep what between you?

[Dramatic music]

Roman: Okay, so you are asking me for my daughter’s hand in marriage?

Lucas: Yeah. That’s right.

Roman: Okay, like we have suddenly hurtled back a couple centuries, and like sami wouldn’t do exactly what she wants to do, whether I bless her or not?

Lucas: I know. You’re right. You’re right. She would. But this isn’t about you and sami. It’s more about you and me. Um, I was just wondering if it’s okay, you know, if, um, if you think I’m good enough for your daughter. I mean, your opinion matters to me, so.

Roman: Okay.

Lucas: And I know that my history isn’t the best in the world right now, so–

Roman: You mean you’ve screwed up a lot.

Lucas: Yeah. Yeah. You could say that.

Roman: Well, you have. But you’ve also been a great dad to will and allie, and you’ve been a really good friend to sami. And you know, I love sami very much, but you? You’re good for her. I think you understand her in a way that nobody else does. So yes. You do have my blessing.

Lucas: Thank you.

Roman: Just keep her safe, okay?

Lucas: I will.

Roman: And visit often.

Lucas: You got it.

Kate: Are we interrupting something?

Sonny: As much as I hate to leave, I think your family’s expecting us at the pub, like, now.

Will: Well, that can wait. This can’T.

Sonny: [Laughs]

Leo: Who am I? I think the better question is who are you?

Thomas: I’m thomas dimera.

Leo: Well, young thomas, what are you doing down here all by yourself?

Thomas: My sister and I are playing hide-and-seek.

Leo: I guess you’re found now, aren’t you?

Chad: So belle, what are you doing here?

Ej: I’ve invited her to stay here with us for a while– in the guest room, of course.

Chad: That’s very hospitable of you.

Ej: It’s the least I can do after she helped me get out of prison on those false kidnapping charges.

Chad: Right.

Ej: Yeah, so what were you asking abigail to keep between the two of you?

Chad: It’s a private conversation.

Abigail: Oh, no, chad, I– I think we should tell him. We hit the bike trails every weekend

Roman: Uh, no, you’re not interrupting anything. Just guy talk.

Kate: Oh, yeah. What about those cubs?

Roman: Yeah, along those lines. Marlena, glad you could make it.

Marlena: Thank you for asking me.

Roman: Yeah, I was hoping that you’d bring john and belle along.

Marlena: John’s at work, and belle and I aren’t getting along right now.

Roman: Sorry to hear that.

Marlena: Yeah. Thank you. I’m actually a little bit worried that she and shawn might not be able to get through all this.

Roman: Come on. Look at lucas and sami. If they can get through what they’ve gotten through, then hope for everyone.

Kate: I know that you think you’ve worked everything out with sami, but–

Lucas: Don’t do it, all right. Don’t start in on her.

Kate: Okay, I’m not starting in on her. I’m starting in on you, because I know you think you’re going to just walk off into the sunset with her. And I’m telling you right now, if she finds out from anyone other than you that you’re the one who kidnapped her, there’s no coming back from that.

Lucas: Don’t you think I know that?

Kate: Well, then why don’t you tell her yourself? Tell her it was you.

Lucas: Are you nuts? She would kill me. Don’t be like that. She wouldn’t understand. You know what? It doesn’t matter, because she’s never gonna find out, because you’re not gonna say anything, and chad’s not gonna say anything. And no one else knows.

Kate: I hope you’re right.

Roman: Kate, you know what’s keeping will?

Sonny: I wish you didn’t have to leave today.

Will: [Sighs] I know. But ari and I will be back before you know it, as soon as she’s done with school.

Sonny: Well, it was nice just to see you, even if it was ’cause of leo.

[Sneaky music]

Leo: I could lock you up down here, and your parents probably wouldn’t notice for months. Or years, for all the attention they pay. But I’m a good person. I couldn’t do that, could I?

Thomas: Why are you talking to yourself? And who are you anyway?

Leo: I’m the tooth fairy.

Thomas: I didn’t lose a tooth.

Leo: Get me a pair of pliers, and we can take care of that.

Thomas: What?

Leo: Nothing. Just kidding. I-I must have the wrong house.

Thomas: How could you be the tooth fairy? Fairies are girls.

Leo: [Snorts] You have a lot to learn, kid. But you are a very lucky little boy. Nobody is supposed to see the tooth fairy. So now you get to keep a very big secret. You can’t tell anyone about me, especially not your parents. So can I count on you or not?

Abigail: Chad and I have decided to try to have another baby.

Belle: [Gasps]

Abigail: Yes. He wants to keep it between us. I’m excited to share it. Of course, you know, with any luck, everyone’s gonna know soon enough anyways.

Ej: Oh, that’s wonderful.

Belle: Aw, that’s some baby news I can actually be happy about.

Chad: Yeah.

Abigail: And chad wasn’t able to be present with my other pregnancies from the very beginning, so this is gonna be different. These days we just share everything.

Ej: Congratulations. I’m thrilled for the both of you.

[Dramatic music]

I was on an antidepressant,

Belle: I mean, how did harold get my stuff here so quickly?

Ej: He’s magical. And I figured you’d want to unpack, so I asked him to bring up breakfast on a tray. Steak and eggs. Better than the pub.

Belle: Well, I could get used to this. I mean, it is just so different than how I grew up.

Ej: Well, sometimes I wish I grew up like you, in a normal home with two parents.

Belle: And a big sister who hated me and carrie with every fiber of her being.

Ej: That’s what it means to be a brother or sister. Hey, three months ago, chad and I wanted to kill each other, but now? We’re like– we’re like brothers.

Belle: It is good to see you two worked it out.

Ej: I don’t think it would be an overstatement to say that I was a real jerk when I came back to salem.

Belle: Yeah, I think chad might be the first to agree with that.

Ej: And now that he’s found some way to get over it, I’m gonna make sure that I don’t screw things up with him anymore.

Chad: Oh, I thought for a minute there that you were gonna tell ej everything.

Abigail: No. I mean, I felt like I had to say something, otherwise he was gonna think we were keeping secrets from him.

Chad: Which we were. I’m sorry for dragging you into this.

Abigail: I hate lying. But I think you’re right. I mean, I don’t want to mess up your relationship with ej. I don’t want lucas to go to prison. My mom would be crushed.

Chad: I should have known you’d understand.

Abigail: I’m on your side. I love you. And we’re a team, now and always.

[Tender music]

Leo: If you say anything, kid, it means no more tooth fairy money for the rest of your life.

Thomas: But I have two loose teeth.

Leo: Then you better keep your trap shut.

Thomas: Okay.

Leo: Now, I know you come from a family full of liars, creeps, and sneaks.

Thomas: What?

Leo: So I hope I can trust you to keep your word.

Thomas: Well, I don’t want to lose my 50 bucks.

Leo: 50 bucks?

Thomas: Per tooth.

Leo: In my day, it was 50 cents. Inflation. So can I count on you? Good, ’cause I’m gonna be watching you.

Thomas: You sound like santa.

Leo: Who says I’m not? Santa, easter bunny, tooth fairy. You want the magic to continue, I’m gonna need you to bring me some breakfast. So why don’t you head up to the kitchen and scare me up a tray?

Leo: Mm-hmm. And drink, so can you bring me some orange juice too, for my mimosa?

Thomas: What’s a mimosa?

Leo: Oh, don’t worry about it; just go. Chop-chop. Go.

Lucas: Hey.

Marlena: Oh!

Roman: Where have you two been?

Will: Uh, sorry. Something kind of came up.

Marlena: Well, as long as you’re here now.

Shawn: What, so–what, so instead of folic acid and vitamins, you want grease and salt?

Jan: I’m sorry. I know you’re just looking out for the health of our baby.

Ej: Why don’t you stay for dinner? We can talk, share a bottle of wine. Relax. You look like you could really use it.

Ej: Do I need to point out that your daughter also broke chanel’s heart?

Ej: Exactly. So as far as I’m concerned, the last half year is a wash. Which means the best thing for everyone would be for allie to step aside and give johnny and chanel a chance to rebuild their relationship.

Sarah: Yeah, but that… wasn’t me.

Marlena: Well, I know jan’s on bedrest. But I think she’s completely capable of feeding herself.

Jan: Dr. Evans, are you here because you’ve made a decision about being my therapist?

Marlena: Yes, I am.

Jan: Great.

Marlena: I’m afraid I can’t help you, jan.

Ej: So you’re encouraging your daughter to help herself to her brother’s wife?

Lucas: I encourage my daughter to follow her heart.

Ej: I don’t know why I should be surprised. It’s not like you value the sanctity of marriage.

Lucas: What are you talking about–sami and me being together? Because when you guys were together, you were estranged.

Ej: Samantha was my wife! In fact, she still is.

Lucas: Well, johnny and chanel aren’t married anymore.

Ej: So let the best twin win? Is that it?

Lucas: I think we both know who that is, don’t we?

Ej: Mm-hmm. It’s only a matter of time before I prove to samantha and everyone else in this town that you kidnapped her. And when I do that, there won’t be a rock big enough under which you can hide from my wrath.

Allie: Yeah, “was,” as in past tense. And I don’t know if I need to remind you, but chanel and I had feelings for each other long before she even knew who you were.

Chanel: Enough! Will you guys stop talking about me like I’m not standing here and my opinion doesn’t matter?

Jan: Of course I’m sincere. Nothing is more important to me than this child and turning my life around so he or she can be proud of me. Why are you looking at me like that, dr. Evans, like I’m some kind of pariah?

Marlena: I’m sure you understand that I’m concerned that you’re pretending to want my help when, in fact, you’re just concocting a plan to hurt my daughter.

Jan: No! No, no. I swear that isn’t what’s happening here. I swear that I just want to be a good mom to my baby. I think you could really help.

Marlena: I’m sorry. My decision stands. Sorry.

Ej: I understand you’re standing up for your daughter. But there’s no way that chanel is going to pick a fragile woman-child over my red-blooded virile son.

Lucas: Fragile? Really? My daughter? My daughter has been through more in her young life than you and I could possibly fathom. She has tackled every challenge head on. And you know what, if you ask me, I’d say my daughter is twice as red-blooded and virile as johnny dimera will ever be.

Allie: The ball’s in your court, dupree.

Chanel: Oh, way to put a sister on the spot, horton.

Sarah: Okay. Well, I was gone out of your life for…a long time. And for most of that time, you believed that I had left you and, um, and I wasn’t coming back. I know you’re not a monk, xander, so if you dated other women–

Ej: And where is samantha anyway? Have you kidnapped her again?

Lucas: Not that it’s any of your business, but during our romantic ski getaway, she fell and broke her leg. She’s in the hospital.

Ej: Is she all right?

Lucas: She’s fine. She just can’t leave the italian alps. Doctors won’t let her.

Jan: I’ve read the intruder articles. They say your patients are dropping you left and right since the whole possession scandal got out.

Marlena: I would hardly call that a scandal.

Allie: Grandpa had this in the freezer.

Lucas: I don’t need ice.

Allie: Your hand’s gonna swell.

Lucas: Fine, I’ll take it. I’m sorry that you and johnny had to see that. I am.

Allie: Yeah, well, I’m just happy that we got here before the two of you killed each other. I mean, what was that about anyway?

Lucas: Your mother, of course.

Allie: What about her?

Lucas: Ej thinks that I’m the one who kidnapped your mother. I mean, can you believe that, the nerve of that guy?

Johnny: [Sighs] Uh, hold off on the wedding planning for now.

Ej: Why? Did chanel say she doesn’t want you back?

Johnny: Not exactly, but… she said she needs time to think.

Ej: What’s to think about? You were both in love before the devil got involved.

Johnny: Look, chanel asked allie and me to give her space, and that’s what I’m gonna do.

[Door opens]

Ej: Just be careful, son. Don’t lose out on the woman you want out of some misguided sense of loyalty.

[Laughter on tv]

Shawn: Oh! Ha ha. I see you liked it.

Jan: Not so much, honestly. But wanted to prove how serious I am about taking care of our baby’s body while working on my own body and my soul too.

Shawn: I appreciate that.

Jan: Shawn, I know this is gonna sound pollyanna, but I really think that my therapy with dr. Evans is gonna make me a better person.

Shawn: Well, if anybody can help you, it’s marlena. So I’m gonna take these and put them in the kitchen, and I’m gonna head to bed.

Jan: Okay.

Shawn: All right, let me know if you need anything else, okay?

John: Oh, no, no. What’s the point? She is an inebriated grown woman who obviously is upset with both of us right now.

Marlena: Then I’m going to cancel jan’s sessions.

John: Doc, don’t do that. Please. Just trust your instincts. A sane, healthy jan is better for all of us. And as far as our daughter goes, she’s tough, she’s strong. She’s gonna get through this.

Marlena: I hope you’re right.

Chanel: Oh, sorry to interrupt.

Tripp: No, that’s okay. We were just saying goodbye.

Chanel: Oh. Well, you know, I had to wait in line out there to say hi to the local hero.

Tripp: Oh, come on.

Chanel: Can you eat real food?

Tripp: Yes. Yes, but they don’t serve that her so…

Chanel: Well, I have come to the rescue.

Tripp: Would that be ham and cheese on a croissant?

Chanel: Would I bring you anything else?

Tripp: Okay, okay, you can stay. You can stay, but no pictures or autographs, please.

Chanel: Aw. I don’t care what you say– you really are a hero. Mine at least. You saved allie’s life. You gave henry his mom back. Gave me my best friend back.

Allie: Will!

Will: I leave you alone for five minutes and you get possessed by the devil?

Allie: Well, it got you to come visit, right?

Allie: Actually, I don’t remember any of it. But I heard I was a total bitch to almost everyone.

Will: Yeah. Honestly, though, I-I was very scared for you and johnny, so… thank god you’re both okay.

Johnny: Was aunt belle just here? I thought I saw her driving off.

Ej: Hmm. I’m doing some legal work for her.

Johnny: Oh. You gonna be a practicing lawyer again?

Ej: Just doing belle a favor.

Johnny: Heard your takeover of the company tanked.

Ej: Hmm. Thanks to your aunt kristen, but I haven’t given up on running dimera enterprises.

Johnny: Well, let me know if you need any help.

Ej: I will. What’s with the laptop? Doing some writing?

Johnny: Yeah, that was the idea, but, uh, all the noise is kind of making it hard to concentrate.

Ej: What noise?

Johnny: You don’t wanna know.

Both: Ahh!

Abigail: I think making love means even more when you’re–

Abigail: Yeah.

Chad: Think we did it?

Leo: Ooh, thanks for the tip, gwennie. I hope this means you’ve decided to help me get revenge against abigail. Fine. You keep thinking it over, but I am not letting this go. I am going to get back at every single person who broke up craig and me. I don’t care if it takes me the rest of my life.

Sonny: What the hell are you planning now, you disgusting little creep?

Leo: Do you always eavesdrop on people’s personal phone calls?

Sonny: No, just the ones who slip me drugs and then send dummied up photos to the tabloids.

Leo: Those pictures were for real. You looked very happy and very satisfied.

Sonny: I look unconscious, which I was. Did you carry me to bed or did you drag me?

Leo: If you’re worried about will calling his lawyer, just tell him we didn’t go all the way.

Sonny: I know we didn’t because I was literally unconscious!

Leo: Maybe he’ll believe you, even if nobody else does.

Sonny: My lawyer is already in touch with the editor of “the intruder,” okay? I’m gonna do whatever it takes to set the record straight.

Leo: Good luck with that. Because these pictures are the talk of the town. Some people are even saying you might lose your job over them, which would be such a tragedy.

Allie: It was so sweet of you to come all the way here to check in on me.

Will: Well, it wasn’t just that. I’m–I’m dealing with the fallout from leo’s cookies.

Allie: Leo has cookies? Is he gonna open a rival bakery?

Will: You must be the only person in salem who hasn’t read “the intruder.”

Allie: No, I don’t read that rag.

Will: Okay. Well, forget I said anything.

Allie: No, come on, now you have to tell me.

Will: No, it’s just like… it’s another one of leo’s stupid stunts.

Allie: Oh, he’s still at it?

Will: Yeah, but, you know, we’re handling it and, um… I wanna–I’m here to talk about you. And I wanna hear about what happened. Are you sure you’re okay?

Allie: Physically, yeah. Mentally, um… it’s a lot to deal with.

Will: Mm.

Allie: You know, I heard i did some really awful stuff.

Will: Like what?

Allie: Um, I… chained johnny and ben up in the dimera family crypt. I kidnapped ciara, and she went into labor. So I delivered her baby and then went on the run with it.

Will: Um…wow, yeah that’s– that is pretty bad stuff, but, I mean, at least it wasn’t you, right? Did you talk to grandma?

Allie: She said what you said.

Will: Exactly, right? She would know. She went through it.

Allie: Still, it’s hard not to take responsibility. I mean, people are still hurting from everything I did. People I really care about, like chanel.

Tripp: Thanks for coming to see me again.

Chanel: Yeah, we didn’t really get a chance to talk the last time I was here.

Tripp: Yeah, it was a little crowded. It was like allie was the bachelorette and you and I were at the rose ceremony.

Chanel: Oh, it was not like that, and you know it.

Tripp: Kinda was…until johnny showed up at least.

Chanel: Johnny and I, uh… we ran into allie after you two had a chance to talk alone. She said you made it really clear that you weren’t getting back together.

Tripp: Yeah.

Chanel: But why? I know you love allie. Are you really ready to let her go? I was on an antidepressant,

Sonny: My uncle vick is still in charge at titan, and he’s backing me. So I don’t care what the, uh… “the rumor mill” says. My job is not in danger.

Leo: I couldn’t care less what happens to you now. I made a bundle off those pictures.

Sonny: Oh. It’s always about money for you, isn’t it?

Leo: You can be high and mighty–you’ve had money since you were born.

Sonny: Oh, my god, boo-hoo. I’ve heard this sob story before.

Leo: I wouldn’t have had to sell those photos if you and your friends had left craig and me alone! I’m on my own now because of you! And a girl’s gotta eat.

Sonny: That’s how you justify drugging me with laced cookies?

Leo: The note with the cookies said they were from your husband.

Sonny: Will just got back today–I know for a fact he has nothing to do with the fricking cookies!

Leo: So will is here already? How did he like the photos?

Will: So when the devil was running johnny, he told chanel he wanted a divorce…

Allie: At their wedding reception.

Will: And when the devil was running you, you…

Allie: Dumped chanel too. In the meanest way possible, according to her. So now do you see how I feel so bad about it?

Will: Yeah. I’m sorry–I didn’t even know you and chanel were dating. I mean, you told me you had feelings for her.

Allie: Yeah, well, I did a lot of thinking after our talk…

Will: Mm-hmm.

Allie: I don’t know. My life started to make a lot more sense once I realized I was bisexual. And I-I always thought I loved chanel as a friend, but now I realized I just loved her. Period.

Will: That’s great, allie.

Allie: It would be. If our brother wasn’t also in love with her.

Johnny: Chad and abigail… how do I say this delicately? They’ve been at it for a while.

Ej: [Chuckles] Well, now that our takeover plan has failed, I suppose chad’s turning his attention to his personal life.

Johnny: Easy for you to say. You don’t have the room next to theirs.

Ej: There are lots of other bedrooms in this house.

Johnny: And I’ll be moving into one of them. Otherwise, I’m not gonna get any sleep, let alone write.

Ej: Are you working on anything in particular?

Johnny: [Sighs] Well, now that my producer is dead, so is my movie about grandma, which is fine by me. I have a whole new perspective on devil possession.

Ej: Any new ideas?

Johnny: Yeah, mm-hmm, one that, uh…I mean, it’s pretty close to home.

Ej: May I know what it is?

Johnny: Why not? It’s about fraternal twins who are in love with the same girl.

Abigail: You know, if you really wanna be sure we made a baby–

Chad: Okay. Honey…mmm…I need a break. I need a break.

Abigail: Oh. Okay. What do you wanna do instead?

Chad: Well, if we’re gonna have another mouth to feed, I should probably start looking for a job.

Abigail: Yeah. I’m sorry that didn’t work out. I cannot believe kristen stabbed both of her brothers in the back.

Chad: Nothing she does surprises me anymore, especially after what she did to you and sarah.

Abigail: Well, I survived, and so did she–it looks like she’s going to anyway.

Chad: Mm-hmm.

Abigail: I’m just really glad that you and ej are getting along again.

Chad: Yeah. I, uh, I really didn’t like being on the outs with him.

Abigail: I mean, it wasn’t your fault. It seemed like he came back to town just trying to push everybody’s buttons. Mainly yours.

Chad: It wasn’t one-sided. I mean, I did some things I wasn’t proud of.

Abigail: Really? Like what?

Kate: Hey. Is roman babysitting henry?

Lucas: Yeah. They’re video chatting with sami right now.

Kate: Oh, great. So she has better reception, I guess, huh? Did she say when she’s gonna be able to fly back?

Lucas: No, mom. Not yet. The break is-is very bad.

Kate: Yeah, I heard.

Lucas: You know what–

Kate: W-what are you doing?

Lucas: Now that we’re alone, I think it’s time–I think it’s time. I want my apology.

Kate: [Exhales] For what?

Lucas: For accusing me of kidnapping the mother of my children. This is the sound of nature breathing.

Chad: I, uh…you know, I’m the one that testified against ej. So I’m basically the one that sent him to prison.

Abigail: Yeah, but, honey, you were under oath. You didn’t have a choice but to tell the truth.

Chad: Yeah, but I was wrong.

Abigail: Yeah, but at that point you thought you had proof that he was guilty.

Chad: Right.

Abigail: And the man–he was in your face all the time.

Chad: The important thing is that, um… him and I, we’re on the same side now. I mean, he’s a completely different person since he got out of prison.

Abigail: I do wonder though…

Chad: Okay. Come on, I can see those wheels turning. What?

Abigail: Well, the kidnapping. I wanna believe that ej’s innocent. But if he didn’t kidnap sami, then who did?

Chad: I don’t know. Guess we’ll never know.

Abigail: Not necessarily.

Chad: What do you mean?

Abigail: I think I just found “the spectator’s” next investigative report. I’m gonna find out who kidnapped sami brady.

Kate: Darling, why wouldn’t i accuse you of kidnapping sami since you had already done it once?

Lucas: I regret it, okay? And I’m never gonna do it again.

Kate: Hah. Well, I can’t believe you went to that extreme in the first place.

Lucas: It wasn’t my proudest moment, all right? I think about it every day. I regret it, I do. But a lot of good has come out of it, because now sami wants nothing to do with ej. And we have never been closer.

Kate: Okay. Does she know that he’s been released from prison?

Lucas: Yeah. Yeah, she does.

Kate: Okay. So she knows he’s innocent.

Lucas: Not exactly.

Kate: Oh, my god. Okay. So what does that mean?

Lucas: Well, you know, it took a little doing, but, uh, sami still thinks that ej is guilty as hell.

Kate: Oh, my god.

Ej: But you and chanel were married. You were in love.

Johnny: Yeah, I thought so.

Ej: And I thought allie and chanel were just friends.

Johnny: Before I was even in the picture, I think they’d begun to figure out they’re more than that.

Ej: Have they–

Johnny: Yeah.

Ej: Oh, I see.

Johnny: Your step-daughter’s bisexual, dad.

Ej: Right. Right. And so is chanel?

Johnny: [Inhales, exhales] Let’s just say that if she had to pick between the two of us right now, I don’t know if she’d choose allie or me.

Tripp: You’re right, I do still love allie. I mean, you don’t do a header through a stained glass window for someone you feel lukewarm about.

Chanel: Okay, then–then why did you tell her that you don’t wanna get back together?

Tripp: Because if I told allie that I wanted to start over, she’d say that she did too.

Chanel: And the problem with that is?

Tripp: I would never know if I’m the one she really wants or if she just feels obligated.

Chanel: Trying to be fair here. She does love you.

Tripp: Maybe. And maybe we’d be happy for a while, but… in the end, I know it wouldn’t work out.

Chanel: Why?

Tripp: I know for sure that I want to spend the rest of my life with allie, but only if allie knows for sure that she wants it too. And how can she know that? The love of her life is… it’s you.

Allie: You know, the worst part is we all thought johnny was being not just a jerk–

Will: Yeah. I mean, I thought he went from being like my cocky younger brother to a sadistic bastard.

Allie: Yeah, everyone did. I mean, you should have seen the things that he said to chanel in front of their families. You should have seen the way he talked to me. I mean, right after tripp proposed, johnny strolled in and told him that I slept with chanel.

Will: Is that what happened?

Allie: When the devil was done with johnny and johnny came back to his senses, he thought that everything could just go back to normal, that he could be happily in love and married to chanel.

Will: Yeah. Wow, that… that is a huge mess.

Allie: Tell me about it.

Will: So the only person in your quadrangle that the devil didn’t mess with is chanel?

Allie: Not directly anyway.

Will: Okay. And who does chanel wanna be with?

Allie: I don’t know. I mean, she kind of got bounced all around, so I’ve just been giving her space. I don’t think she even knows how I feel.

Will: Then maybe you should tell her.

Allie: Well, there is also another option. I could let her go.

Leo: I hope will isn’t too upset.

Sonny: Oh, bull! You would love that!

Leo: We both know he’s not one to point the finger. As I recall, he’s cheated on you more than once. Turnabout is fair play.

Sonny: Will knows I didn’t cheat on him, and the whole world’s about to know. ‘Cause I reported you to the cops.

Leo: [Fake gasp] Really? No messages from them yet.

Sonny: Mm. That’s ’cause I haven’t gotten my test results back yet.

Leo: What test results?

Sonny: Oh, the blood tests I took this morning. The one that will prove that you drugged me.

[Phone rings] Speaking of, there’s my aunt kayla, the one who administered the blood test this morning. Yeah, you might wanna stay there. You’re gonna wanna hear this. Okay, snacks and popcorn are gonna be expensive.

Sonny: Wait. But I–but i thought that– are you sure? Okay. Thank you. Bye.

Leo: Well? What did the good doctor have to say?

Sonny: What the hell did you do to me?

Leo: I hesitate to be specific here in public.

Sonny: Kayla said that there are drugs that can leave your system very quickly. That’s–that’s what you gave me, isn’t it?

Leo: Is this your cute little way of telling me she didn’t find anything?

Sonny: You drugged me, and I know it!

Leo: You might wanna stop saying that–you don’t have any proof. I think that’s called slander. Or is it libel? I always get those two mixed up.

Sonny: Libel is when you put lies into print, and that’s exactly what you did!

Leo: It’s not a lie, babe, and we both know it. You’re a cheating slimeball. Poor will and little arianna–

Sonny: Keep my daughter’s name out of your filthy mouth!

Leo: You didn’t think it was so filthy last night. Or maybe you did.

Sonny: You know what? Go for it, leo. You wanna get rolled back in a rug again? Keep saying garbage like that.

Kate: Lucas, ej is out of prison. So…how did you manage to convince sami that he’s her kidnapper?

Lucas: Well, ej wasn’t found innocent. They just threw the case out.

Kate: Yeah, but what difference does that make?

Lucas: Well, you know, the payments that were sent to the kidnapper that were found in ej’s computer might’ve been there–

Kate: Yeah. Yeah. Because you put them there.

Lucas: Right. Right. But all the other evidence points at ej 100%.

Kate: Lucas, what evidence?

Lucas: Motive. Ej was really upset when sami cheated on him. He was in a rage. He was going crazy. He wanted to kick her out of the house. He would do anything to get her back. And means. We all know the means. You know, the guard who was watching sami said that ej was the boss. So, you know, why would he lie about that?

Kate: Because you ordered him to–that’s why.

Lucas: Yeah, but sami doesn’t know that. And she never will.

Kate: But chad knows. Chad knows that you planted the phony evidence. So what if he decides to tell the truth?

Lucas: No, he won’T. He’s never gonna say anything. He wouldn’t, would he?

Kate: Ohh…

Abigail: I don’t know why i didn’t think about this before. If I can figure out who kidnapped sami brady, our circulation is gonna double. I mean, everybody in the area wants to know what happened.

Chad: Abby–

Abigail: I could get us into one of those true crime podcasts–I have been dying to get us into that market.

Chad: Shouldn’t you ask your mom–your mom and dad first?

Abigail: Why?

Chad: “Why?” They still own the newspaper, don’t they?

Abigail: Yeah, but they left me in charge because they trust me. Besides, it’s a great idea.

Chad: Sure. The cops have probably exhausted all their leads, though.

Abigail: I don’t know. I’m gonna start looking for new sources tomorrow, and maybe I’ll find something new.

Chad: Like what?

Abigail: Like the second kidnapper. They never tracked him down, right? I mean, that is a huge loose end!

Chad: The kidnapping happened six months ago. I’m sure the trail’s gone cold already.

Abigail: Well, it’s worth a shot. Besides, what if it clears ej’s name? Then shin’s gonna be back on his side.

Chad: But honey, ej’s already been cleared.

Abigail: His conviction was overturned–it’s not the same.

Chad: You know, ej’s fine to move past all of this. I mean, don’t you think that you should ask him if it’s okay to do a story?

Abigail: I don’t– I don’t get you right now. Why are you so against this?

Ej: Have you spoken to chanel?

Johnny: Yeah. Yeah, I even, uh, I even asked her to marry me again.

Ej: And?

Johnny: She said she needed time, which I get. She’s still dealing with the idea that I never stopped loving her, that I didn’t break up with her, but neither did allie. Plus, there’s this small problem of paulina being in jail for killing tr.

Ej: Mm. She does have quite a bit to deal with.

Johnny: Yeah. So I told her to take all the time she needs.

Ej: Why would you do a thing like that?

Chanel: Tripp, I’M… sorry.

Tripp: You don’t have a damn thing to be sorry about. It’s not your fault that you’re sort of, you know, irresistible.

Chanel: “Irresistible”? Don’t give me that. I didn’t set out to steal allie away from you.

Tripp: But you have years of history as friends. And now… you know, you’re more. I can’t compete with that. And, honestly, I shouldn’t have to. And that’s why I shut down us getting back together.

Chanel: Couldn’t have been easy.

Tripp: Well, one thing I’ve learned about the devil in all this is that the guy’s good. He knows exactly what to say to make you do whatever he wants. And when I told him to take me instead of allie, he pointed out that I was… always her second choice. I’ve decided I’m okay with it.

Chanel: What? Why?

Tripp: Because I love her enough to want her to have a long and happy life. Whether I’m part of it or not.

Chanel: Do you really mean that?

Tripp: You and allie want to be together. You’re not gonna get any flak from me. I’m in your corner.

Chanel: I…I don’t know what to say. I don’t even know if allie wants us to get back together.

Tripp: I’m pretty sure she does. So I guess now it’s just up to you to decide if that’s what you want. With depression, you just feel…blah.

Leo: Careful, jackson. People are starting to stare. Somebody might snap a phone photo and sell our lovers’ quarrel to the “the intruder.”

Sonny: You’re not gonna get away with this.

Leo: Kinda feels like I already have.

Sonny: If you ever come near me or my family again, I will end you.

Leo: Save your threats, tough guy. I’m gonna focus my energy elsewhere.

Sonny: What the hell does that mean?

Leo: Like I’m gonna confide in you? Let’s just say I’m not done with this town yet.

Will: Why would you give up on chanel? You just told me that you love her.

Allie: I do, but I also love johnny. And I don’t– I don’t wanna hurt him. Jonny and I have been on the outs for a long time now, and this whole situation made us realize that we still really love each other.

Will: I mean, that’s great.

Allie: Yeah, it is.

Will: But does that mean you should sacrifice your own happiness just so johnny can get what he wants?

Allie: You didn’t see johnny and chanel together, okay? They were crazy about each other, and they probably still would be if it wasn’t for… you know. And chanel and I never would have been together.

Will: Well, but you were, right? And, from what you tell me, it was real. So don’t just pretend that it didn’t happen.

Allie: Oh, I don’t know, this is all so confusing.

Will: Yeah, I know. It’s confusing. I-I know the feeling. I was confused. I slept with gabi to prove to myself that I was straight and all it did was, you know, convince me that I was gay. And I got her pregnant.

Allie: Yeah, but you got arianna, and you guys worked it out.

Will: Yeah. But a lot of bad things happened, mostly to gabi, because I was too afraid to go after what I wanted. And I feel for johnny, right? It’s not his fault that his marriage blew up, but that does not mean you just need to step aside. I think it might be best for everyone, for johnny and chanel, if you’re just–you’re just honest.

Allie: Really?

Will: Yeah. Don’t you think chanel deserves to know the facts before she decides what she wants to do with her life?

Chanel: To be dead honest, I don’t know what I want. I used to wish that I had never met allie and johnny. I felt they both played me for a fool. And then I find out that it’s the damn devil!

Tripp: I hear you. It’s unreal.

Chanel: I just… god, we all got played. Allie and johnny never meant to hurt me. I’m so, so confused.

Tripp: I can see why.

Chanel: It’s a huge mess. I was in love with both of them. And–and then I–now, I just–I don’t know who I should be with. Maybe I should just walk away from the whole thing.

Tripp: You could also just give yourself a little time.

Chanel: Yeah, that’s what I told johnny when he said he wanted us to get remarried.

Tripp: Wait, he proposed?

Chanel: He wants us to pick up right where we left off, but I said that I wasn’t ready to make any decisions right now. And so he backed off, and I guess he won’t be putting on the pressure, thank god.

Ej: If you truly love chanel, you can’t just sit back and wait and hope things go your way. You have to fight for her.

Johnny: She’s been through hell, dad.

Ej: It’s not your fault.

Johnny: I’m just trying to think about what she needs.

Ej: And while you’re thinking about what she needs, your sister could be trying to fight and win her back. Is that what you want?

Johnny: Why are you telling me to go after chanel, and when I told you I’d married her, you said she was just after my money?

Ej: I may have judged her too harshly.

Ej: Mm-hmm.

Johnny: What made you change your mind?

Ej: When we rescued you that night, I realized how close I was to losing you. I haven’t been the best father to you lately. I’ve gotten a lot of things wrong. I was too focused on what I wanted for you rather than listening to what you wanted for yourself. If you want chanel, you have my full support. I must say, she’s conducted herself with dignity throughout this whole painful ordeal.

Johnny: Well…thank you for saying all that. But I still think I should back off for a while.

Ej: If I may say one more thing. I have many regrets in my life. And one of the biggest ones right now is not fighting for your mother.

Johnny: Well, I’m surprised to hear you say that.

Ej: We both know I spent years pushing her away. And now she’s with lucas. I don’t want you to live with the same regret. If you truly love chanel, do whatever it takes to be with her. Otherwise, you’ll end up like your old man.

Johnny: Maybe you’re right. Maybe I should fight for her. We hit the bike trails every weekend

Chanel: The last thing you need right now is me unloading my problems on you.

Tripp: Well, if you remember, I asked you how you were doing.

Chanel: I know it hurt you to tell allie it’s over. I know it’s not what you want. It’s because of me. Are we…okay?

Allie: No. I guess she broke her leg skiing, so she can’t fly yet.

Will: I mean, they used to fight like cats and dogs.

Allie: It’s crazy. But, hopefully, they’ve learned how to treat each other better, you know? No more plotting. No more secrets.

Will: Yeah. Well, we’ll see how long that lasts.

Allie: Yeah.

Lucas: Chad’s really thinking about ratting me out?

Kate: Well, I mean, he says that he’s going to keep your name out of it, that he’s planning on taking the blame for planting the phony evidence.

Lucas: Okay.

Kate: But the thing is you know ej is going to have a lot of questions.

Lucas: So you think chad will be willing to stir up a little trouble?

Kate: Well, he said that ej is a changed man. Since he got back from prison, the two of them actually made peace. And now I think that, for chad, the guilt is really weighing on him, you know?

Lucas: Oh, great. Just what I need.

Kate: Oh, yeah, principled persons–they’re really a pain, aren’t they? But, trust me, I think I convinced him to keep his mouth shut.

Lucas: Wait a minute, you think you did or you know you did? Did you get through to him or not?

Kate: I told him that ej would be furious. I told him that the reconciliation would be history, and also that he would be admitting he planted the phony evidence, and also that he perjured himself, so…

Lucas: Right. Right. He’d be looking at jail time too, right?

Kate: Right. I think he knows it’s not worth what he’d get for clearing his conscience.

Lucas: So it sounds to me like I’m good, like I’m in the clear, like I got nothing to worry about.

Kate: I think so, honey. For now. But do you really think you’re going to be able to keep a secret like this from a nosy woman like sami?

Chad: I just don’t think it’s safe for you to be hunting down some clown who kidnaps women for money.

Abigail: I’m not stupid. I know how to be careful.

Chad: Yeah, but you have to–you have to say that you’re a reporter when you’re asking questions, right? What if that gets back to the wrong person?

Abigail: Why are you borrowing trouble?

Chad: Because I saw what happened when you started looking into sarah’s disappearance–I could’ve lost you.

Abigail: But you didn’T. Everything turned out okay.

Chad: We got lucky.

Abigail: Look, for a story this big, I’m gonna have to take some risks.

Chad: Even if it turns out that you’re–that you could be pregnant? Fishing helps ease my mind.

Will: I can’t believe the drugs were already out of your system.

Sonny: And the cookies are gone too, so there’s no way to actually prove that leo drugged me.

Will: Do you think he’ll try something else?

Sonny: I don’t know. He said something about focusing his energy elsewhere.

Nicole: Oh, I’m sure it is. It’s been awhile since you kicked me to the curb, trying to get sami back. Remind me again, how did that work out for you?

EJ: So you decided to drop by to say, “I told you so”?

Nicole: No, actually I need a favor. Okay, so remember you filed my divorce papers when I split from eric?

EJ: I do.

Nicole: Do you happen to have a copy of those? Because I can’t seem to find mine anywhere.

EJ: I’m sure I have a copy somewhere. Is there a problem? Eric isn’t disputing the divorce, is he?

Nicole: No, not at all.

EJ: So why do you need those papers?

Nicole: Because rafe and i are engaged.

Rafe: He’s the most beautiful baby boy.

Ciara: Mm-hmm.

Rafe: Wow. It’s a good thing you and ben were able to bring him home safe and sound, huh?

Ciara: Yeah. Yeah. And after everything we’ve been through, it’s really nice to focus on the sweet, lovely things. Like how much he eats, how much she sleeps, how much he doesn’t sleep. And now we are introducing him to the most important people in his life.

Rafe: Oh, well, I’m flattered I made the list.

Ciara: Are you kidding? Rafe, you are, like, at the top of the list.

Rafe: Oh.

Ciara: In fact, well, ben and I were wondering if you would consider being bo’s godfather.

Jan: Hmm. Sonny, sonny, sonny. Such a naughty boy. How did you get in here?

Ben: Sorry to startle you. The door was open. Is shawn around?

Jan: He’s still at work, but he’s just a phone call away.

Ben: Okay. Could you just let him know that I stopped by? I know he wanted to speak to ciara and me about something.

Ben: Yeah. And I will let you get back to whatever you were doing.

Shawn: You’re jumping the gun here. No, we need to discuss this.

Belle: Everything I need to say is in that document.

Shawn: Look, I know that things have been difficult.

Belle: Difficult? They’ve been impossible. And I just think that a legal separation will bring us both some clarity.

Shawn: Some clarity about what? I mean, jan? Jan, she’s gonna have the baby then she’s gonna go back to prison. And then–and then you’re gonna move back home.

Belle: And do what? Raise jan’s baby with you?

Ben: You want to babysit my son?

Jan: I’m sure you must have heard that shawn and I are about to have our own little one.

Ben: I have heard.

Jan: So your child and ours will be cousins.

Ben: Okay.

Jan: And I really need to practice taking care of a baby before ours arrives. And, you know, I thought with little bo, we’d be keeping it all in the family.

Ben: Right. Except ciara and I really aren’t in the market for a babysitter at the moment.

Jan: No? I mean, don’t you think you’ll want a little quality time, maybe a date night out?

Ben: Maybe. Eventually. Yeah. But, you know, right now we just really love spending time with our little boy. Plus he sleeps a lot. So we got plenty of quality time together, my wife and I.

Jan: Ben, I wouldn’t be alone with the baby if that’s what you’re worried about. And shawn, he would be here with me every second.

Ben: And thank you for offering, jan, really. I think we’re good right now. I’ll let you know if we change our minds.

Jan: Our minds, plural? But you haven’t even asked ciara how she’d feel about it.

Ben: Obviously not, but I’m quite sure that ciara won’t like the idea either.

Rafe: Godfather.

Ciara: Godfather.

Rafe: Me?

Ciara: You.

Rafe: Okay? I’m honored. Okay. But are you sure about this? What about shawn?

Ciara: Well, shawn kind of has his hands full with his own baby coming and that’s–well that’s a wee bit complicated.

Rafe: Mm-hmm. That’s an understatement.

Ciara: Yeah.

Rafe: Yeah.

Ciara: And besides you were always our number one choice anyway. I mean with you, we get a godfather and a baseball coach all in one.

Rafe: Yeah. He does look like a fielder.

Ciara: Doesn’t he? Right? There we go.

Rafe: And I guess you guys probably want to get him baptized by eric before he goes back to africa, right?

Ciara: Oh, you didn’t hear the news?

Rafe: Uh, well, what news?

Ciara: Well, uncle roman stopped by today to say hi to little baby bo.

Rafe: Yeah.

Ciara: And he told us that eric is no longer a priest.

Brady: How could the vatican expel you?

John: If they have no reason to justify that kind of decision?

Eric: They actually have two. Two unauthorized exorcisms I performed is enough.

John: Oh, come on. That’s crazy. You were doing that for family. You not only saved doc’s life but allie’s too.

Brady: Isn’t that what the church is all about? Fighting satan, saving souls?

John: Oh, yeah. Well, what did they want you to do? Just let the devil win?

Marlena: This is all my fault.

EJ: You’re marrying rafe hernandez?

Nicole: Yes.

EJ: You know I don’t–

Nicole: Yes. I know you hate him. The whole town knows that you hate him. But it’s funny ’cause it’s reciprocal since he hates you too. But it doesn’t seem to change the way I feel about him.

EJ: And I do respect your choice.

Nicole: Thank you.

EJ: And I’m just curious, but does father eric know that you are getting married again?

Nicole: Well, he is no longer “father eric.”

EJ: What are you talking about?

Nicole: Well, I went to see him early this morning at the pub, ’cause I wanted him to hear from me that I was engaged and that’s when he told me that he was expelled from the priesthood.

EJ: Oh, so you found out about eric after you accepted rafe’s proposal?

Nicole: Yes. Why?

EJ: Whoa. I can’t help wondering–nevermind. None of my business.

Nicole: Oh, you know, no, no. I know what you can’t help wondering. And the answer is yes. If I had known that eric was out of the priesthood beforehand, I absolutely would’ve accepted rafe’s proposal.

EJ: [Chuckles]

Rafe: Eric’s really not a priest anymore, huh?

Ciara: Mm.

Rafe: That’s–wow.

Ciara: I didn’t expect the news to hit you so hard.

Rafe: Hmm. It didn’T. It’s just a surprise. That’s all, you know, it’s big news.

Ciara: Yeah. Yeah.

Rafe: I got some big news of my own, by the way.

Ciara: Oh, bigger than being bo’s godfather.

Rafe: Mm. Nicole and I got engaged.

Ciara: What?

Rafe: Yeah.

Ciara: Are you serious? Rafe, that’s wonderful. I’m so happy for you. Wow.

Rafe: Yeah.

Jan: So you think ciara wouldn’t be comfortable with me babysitting her son?

Ben: It’s nothing personal.

Jan: Well, I take it very personally.

Ben: I’m gonna leave now.

Jan: And what about you, ben? Are you, a serial killer scared to have me watching over your son? A woman with ankles the size of basketballs who has to pee every 15 minutes. Yeah. I’m terrifying.

Ben: It’s not that we’re scared of you, jan.

Jan: Well, you of all people, I mean, you shouldn’t be after what you’ve done. The pain you’ve caused, but everyone, everyone forgave you, accepted you, embraced you.

Ben: Yeah. That’s not what happened at all.

Jan: Well, that’s what it looks like to me.

Ben: Well, not that I give a damn what it looks like to you, jan, but for the record, not everybody just accepted and forgave me. There are still plenty of people in this town who haven’t and I don’t blame ’em. But the people who have accepted me it’s because I’ve worked my ass off at trying to become a better person, and I am still working on it.

Jan: Yeah. Well, same as me. I am also trying to be a better person just for the record. So why can’t everybody just show me some compassion, you know, some understanding?

Ben: Jan, I’m sorry. I’ve been where you are. And I get it, but–

Jan: But I’m still too scary to be around your son. And has it ever occurred to you, ben, that if you hadn’t been forgiven for what you did, you wouldn’t even have a son? But you’re happy and married and you have a baby and you have this wonderful, perfect life. Why do you get to have that but not me?

Belle: You can’t seriously expect me to raise jan’s baby.

Shawn: It would be my baby, too.

Belle: Do you really think that she won’t be involved in this child’s life in some way, even from prison?

Shawn: But we can control that.

Belle: Really? ‘Cause we’re not controlling anything right now. You’re turning my office into a nursery. There is nothing that is ever gonna be normal about our life ever again. In fact, it’s not getting easier. It’s getting harder every day.

Shawn: Listen, for that, I’m sorry. Okay. I’m sorry. I have handled this. I’ve handled this badly and I know I have. Look, I lie in bed awake at night just hating myself for the things I’ve put you through. But belle, you gotta know, you know that I never meant to hurt you.

Belle: What I know is I cannot go on this way. I really think that it’s the best thing for us to just draw this line.

Shawn: So this document that’s so important to you, can you honestly tell me that this is only about you and me?

Belle: What kind of question is that? What else would it be about?

Shawn: It’s not about what else. It’s about who else.

Belle: What are you saying, shawn?

Shawn: Look, I’m saying that I have a feeling that EJ has got a lot to do with this. My asthma felt anything but normal.

Ben: I think some of this anger that you’re directing to me, jan, it’s coming from the stress and the fear of you bringing a child into this world. And I get that because I went through it.

Jan: You did?

Ben: Yes. I had a lot of anxiety worrying about, you know, my child and what possible “problem” genes that he might inherit of mine.

Jan: How did you get over that?

Ben: Ciara. She showed me that being a good parent, loving and supporting our baby, no matter what is what matters the most. It’s way more important than whatever genes he may inherit or not. Look, all I’m saying is, jan, as long as you love that baby, and you devote yourself to him or to her, you can be a good mom.

Jan: Even without any practice.

Ben: Even without any practice. Trust me, I’m doing it.

Jan: How? How did you get there?

Ben: With a lot of work. I had to work on myself. Of course, my little stint at bayview helped, but I think what helped me the most was my therapy with dr. Evans. Had a lot of things that I had to come to terms with, as you know. But eventually, I was able to learn from the terrible things that I did. And I was able to realize that in order for me to truly redeem myself, I had to become a better person.

Jan: I want that, too. I wanna be a better person for my baby. Ben, could you ask dr. Evans if she would help me, too?

Eric: It’s not your fault, mom.

Marlena: Look, I know you don’t want me to feel guilty. But the truth is that this wouldn’t happen if it hadn’t been for me, because I was the one the devil came looking for.

Eric: Mom, I knew the risk I was taking without going through and getting that permission with the proper channels. I made that choice.

Marlena: Because of me. You did it for me.

Eric: It would have taken me months to get permission from the vatican. And time is not what we have.

Brady: Eric, you saved her life.

John: She knows that. Just like everybody in town knows that and they’re grateful for it.

Eric: Exactly. And if I would’ve known what I know and had to do it all over again, I would’ve done it again without any hesitation.

Marlena: Thank you. I’m just so sorry that you sacrificed the priesthood for me.

Eric: It wasn’t a sacrifice. It was all worth it.

Nicole: Eric leaving the priesthood doesn’t change a thing between rafe and me. And what is this concern about my relationship? Hmm. I thought you’d be more focused on whatever woman is in your life now.

EJ: You’d be wrong. There’s no one.

Nicole: No one, huh? No one since sami ran off with lucas, come on? It’s not like you to be alone for very long. So who is it? Who do you have your eye on?

EJ: There isn’t anyone.

Nicole: You remember I can always tell when you’re lying or at least evading?

EJ: Would you kindly stop looking at me with those ex-wife eyes?

Nicole: Not until you answer the question honestly.

EJ: I’ve been spending a bit of time with belle.

Nicole: Wait, you’re seeing belle?

EJ: We’re not seeing each other. We became close while she was representing me. And now we’ve become friends.

Nicole: Friends.

EJ: Yes. Friends.

Nicole: So you’re pursuing a happily married woman.

EJ: For one thing, I’m not pursuing belle. And for the other, she’s not happily married. In fact, her marriage is falling apart.

Belle: Do you know how insulting that is? That you think that I want you to enter into a separation agreement because of EJ?

Shawn: I mean, well, he’s a lawyer. For all I know, you know, this could be his idea.

Belle: Have you forgotten that I am a lawyer and I am perfectly capable of assessing a situation on my own? No, shawn, this is not about EJ. This is about one person and one person only. And that is jan spears.

Shawn: I hate this so much.

Belle: You think I don’t?

Shawn: You know what? Fine. Fine. Fine, belle. Here you go. Oh, you want my signature? There it is, right…

Belle: Shawn.

Shawn: There. There you go.

Belle: I didn’t want things to turn out like this.

Shawn: Yeah. Well, I didn’t want this to turn out this way either. But this is very clear to me that that’s how you feel. So this isn’t working out. Right?

Ciara: So have you and nicole set a date yet?

Rafe: No, not yet. I mean still figuring out the details.

Ciara: Okay.

Rafe: Right.

Ciara: Well, just keep in mind, bo isn’t up for ring bearer duty for a couple of years.

Rafe: Oh, my god. I wish we could wait that long. But I’m not a patient person.

Ciara: I completely understand.

Rafe: Yeah. And I don’t think that eric’s gonna be officiating the ceremony.

Ciara: Oh no, definitely not. No. Rafe, you don’t think that the news about eric will affect you and nicole in any way, right?

Rafe: No.

Ciara: No.

Rafe: No. Why would you–no. Okay. We are strong. We’re so happy. And we’re excited because we finally figured out that we are meant to be together.

Ciara: Oh, that’s amazing. And I only hope that you and nicole are as happy as ben and I are. Oh, come here.

Ben: If you want dr. Evans to treat you, you’re gonna have to ask her yourself.

Jan: But I asked her once before and she blew me off, which is why I need you to ask for me.

Ben: Yeah. I can’t do that, jan. You just said you wanted to become a better person. This is where it starts.

Jan: I guess that makes sense.

Ben: Yeah.

Jan: I’ll muster up the courage eventually. And if she rEJects me, I’ll just–I’ll damn well deal with it.

Ben: That’s the spirit.

Jan: And speaking of courage, I’m gonna fight hard and courageously for this baby. I want this child to be raised by both parents, which is why I will do whatever it takes to make shawn realize that he and I are meant to be together. Same as you and ciara. Just like you two, shawn and i have made a perfect baby. And we’re gonna be a perfect family, too.

Ben: Yeah, um– jan, I know we just met and all, and I am not in any position to be giving you any kind of advice, but–

Jan: But you’re going to anyway.

Ben: Ciara was able to help me with my fatherhood issues because we both wanted a child so much. You snuck into shawn’s bed and pretended to be belle. And now this baby is a complete surprise to him. And it’s not a happy one, apparently.

Jan: No, that’s ancient history. He couldn’t be more excited for the baby now.

Ben: Right, that’s because he’s a good guy and he’s trying to do right by you and by your baby. But this whole happy family scenario, jan, is not real.

Jan: Not real? I’m caring shawn’s baby and living with him. I mean, it couldn’t get more real than that.

Ben: Actually, it can get more real because he is married to somebody else.

Jan: Well, he won’t be for long. Belle moved out and I don’t expect her to be moving back in any time soon.

Nicole: Does sami have any idea of what good friends you and belle have become?

EJ: Samantha’s feelings are no longer my concern. She’s made that very clear.

Nicole: You’re right. And now that I think about it, the real silver lining of getting a divorce from eric is that neither one of us have to give a damn about sami’s feelings. So if belle’s marriage is over and you’re into her and she’s into you, I say go for it. Looking to get back in your type 2 diabetes zone?

Belle: I hope I’m not interrupting.

EJ: Oh, you’re not. I was just helping nicole with something which is now done. You’re all set, nicole. Please don’t let me keep you.

Nicole: Thank you, EJ.

Belle: Nice to see you, nicole.

Nicole: Nice to see you, too, belle. Even if it was unexpected.

Belle: Well, EJ and i are just discussing business.

Nicole: Okay. Well, then I’ll leave you two to your business.

Belle: Well, are you sure I wasn’t interrupting something?

EJ: I’m delighted you dropped by. Nicole and I were just discussing a minor legal matter. She and rafe are getting married. So she needed a copy of her divorce papers from eric. I was the one who filed them for her. Hence, why she stopped by.

Belle: Well, that’s kind of why I’m here too. I have some legal papers of my own that I was hoping you could file for me.

EJ: A separation agreement.

Belle: Yeah. For shawn and me. He just signed it.

Ciara: Hey, shawn. So I have some news. I just asked rafe to be bo’s godfather and he said yes. I, uh– I hope that you’re not upset about us not asking you.

Shawn: Upset? I mean, come on. Why would I be upset, you know? I mean, I get it. It’s like, why would you want your trainwreck brother to be the godfather of your baby, right? No, no, no. Listen, you know what you need? You need somebody who’s got their act together. You need somebody, you know, you need somebody like rafe actually.

Ciara: No, no, shawn. Oh my goodness. No, I’m so sorry. I did not want to hurt your feelings. That is not what I meant. I just–I–I think that–I don’t know. It just seems like you have a lot on your plate right now.

Shawn: I’m sorry. I’m sorry, ciara. Just something happened earlier and I’m taking it out on you. But to be honest, I think you made the right decision. You know, I think that rafe he’d be a good role model for little bo. And be someone for him to look up to.

Ciara: Hey, bo is gonna look up to you too. You know that right? You’re gonna be, like, an incredibly awesome uncle.

Shawn: Yeah, an incredibly awesome uncle that just destroyed his entire life and his marriage. Right?

Jan: Thank you for giving me dr. Evans’ number, ben. I’m sorry that I blew up at you before.

Ben: Told you I get it. I’ve been there before. I just hope dr. Evans is able to help you the same way she helped me.

Jan: I’d rather discuss this in person. And as you know, I’m under house arrest. So since I can’t come to you you’ll have to come here. Sorry to have to ask you to make a house call like this, but I assure you it’s very important.

Brady: Does she know that you’re not a priest anymore?

Eric: Yeah. Yeah, she does.

Eric: Nicole and I agreed that we’d always be friends. I’m not romantically interested in her, not anymore.

Jan: I didn’t realize you needed a bodyguard for your therapy sessions, dr. Evans.

Marlena: Jan, you’re not a patient and this is not a therapy session. So there’s nothing here that john can’t hear.

Jan: Well, that’s what I wanted to talk to you about, dr. Evans. I spoke to ben weston and I know he’s committed murder like me. I know he’s been in a mental hospital like me, and he told me that he was able to turn his life around by being in therapy with you.

Marlena: Well, ben worked very hard.

Jan: Well, I can too. And I promise I will. So would you–could you take me on as a patient?

Ciara: So you and belle are separated?

Shawn: Formally and legally, yeah, she– she had me sign a document.

Ciara: I’m so sorry, shawn.

Shawn: Yeah, well, since you’re here, I might as well tell you about what I wanted to talk to you and ben about. Jan asked to babysit bo.

Ciara: No, no, no, no. Shawn, no. Solid, no, no, no. Nopety, no.

Shawn: Okay. Listen, I know. I figured that would be your initial reaction.

Ciara: That is my final reaction, shawn.

Shawn: Okay. Just hear me out here for a second, okay. She would never be alone with him. I would be there the entire time. So–

Ciara: You can’t actually expect me to trust this woman with my baby.

Shawn: Ciara, I am only asking you because this is important to me. I want her to learn something, something about taking care of a baby before mine’s born.

Ciara: Mm-hmm, and i understand that, I really do, but I’m sorry, shawn. No. Maybe she can borrow a birthing doll from a birthing class, but I am not letting that crazy woman lay one finger on my baby. Truthfully, I’m not too crazy about her spending time with you either, but hey, that ship has sailed far, far away, hasn’t it?

Shawn: Do you really seriously think–you think that I’m–do you think that I wanted this? Do you think I didn’t fight for her? Do you think I didn’t fight for us?

Ciara: No, of course you did. But that only goes to show how devious this woman really is. Okay? When I said that she was crazy. I meant she was crazy like a fox. Be careful, shawn. Don’t let her screw up what you have with belle.

EJ: Of course, I’ll file the separation agreement for you. I’m a little surprised you took this step, though. You didn’t say anything about it earlier.

Belle: I know. Well, then jan sent that box of my things here and I realized she’s never gonna stop trying to come between shawn to me. And I realized that a formal separation is something I needed to do for my own sake.

EJ: I understand. And I think you’ve made a wise choice. Why don’t you stay for dinner? We can talk, share a bottle of wine, relax. You look like you could really use it.

Brady: Need I remind you, I’ve had a front-row seat to the nicole and eric drama for a long time now.

Eric: A drama that’s finally come to an end.

Brady: Yeah, but you’re not a priest anymore. Trying to tell me it’s never crossed your mind that you and nicole might have another chance.

Eric: No, it hasn’T.

Brady: So I guess it’s not a sin if you lie to yourself.

Nicole: Hi.

Rafe: Oh, well, well, well if it isn’t my beautiful fiancéE. Hi.

Nicole: I know we told holly that we would get married soon, but that’s a little vague.

Nicole: So then we agree. We need something a little more concrete, like an actual date.

Rafe: Okay. You have something in mind.

Ciara: Baby, I’m telling you rafe was so excited about being bo’s godfather.

Ben: That’s wonderful. You know, I swung by shawn’s today to try to ask him what he wanted to talk to us about, but he wasn’t there. Jan was. She wants to babysit bo.

Ciara: Mm, I know. I heard. I stopped by the station and ran into shawn.

Ben: Okay. So you told him.

Ciara: Yeah. I told him it’s not gonna happen.

Ben: Mm-mm.

Ciara: Never, no. We did not save our baby bo from the devil to hand him off to jan spears’ diabolical grasps. No way. I mean, don’t get me wrong. This has nothing to do with her mental illness. I’m very aware that people can get better, just like you did. But underneath her mental illness, she’s still a greedy, manipulative woman who will stop at nothing to get what she wants. I mean, baby, she’s been trying to get in between shawn and belle for years.

Ben: That’s the impression that I got.

Ciara: And unfortunately this time I am afraid that she might be succeeding.

John: Oh, hey.

Shawn: Hey, shawn. What’s going on here?

Jan: I just asked dr. Evans to be my therapist, shawn. ‘Cause I wanna be a better person for you and for our baby. And I know that it’s a lot of work, but I am willing to do it. More than willing. I can’t wait.

Marlena: Well, I would have to check my schedule. And with, you know, jan being under house arrest, I would have to do it here. And that would–that would be a big-time issue for me.

Shawn: Would you be willing to do that?

Marlena: I–I can’t really promise it. But I’ll get back to you about that. Shawn, you might consider counseling, yourself. Marriage counseling, you know, for you and belle, I could recommend someone for you.

Shawn: Yeah, well, I don’t think that she would be interested in doing that. She wants a formal separation.

Marlena: Oh, she didn’t mention that to us.

John: And I’m sorry, kid. I can’t believe that she’d give up on the marriage.

Shawn: Yeah. I just signed the papers.

Belle: I hope you know how much I appreciate your very kind offer.

EJ: I hope you know how much I want you to say yes.

Belle: The idea of staying here and relaxing and sharing a meal and a bottle of wine is very tempting.

EJ: Dinner can be served in minutes.

Belle: EJ, I just don’t think this is a good idea. At least not tonight. I have to go, but thank you for filing that document.

Xander: Well, because… look, after everything we’ve… after everything you’ve been through, and what I did to… all I did hurt you, it seems to me that here is the place we need to be.

[Dramatic music]

Sarah: Mickey. You brought me to see mickey.

Xander: Sarah… what we had, the love we shared, it… it all started with a lie.

Xander: No, hold on. I need to get all this out. I need to do it right this time. I was so stupid and selfish. I convinced myself that what I had done was… was what was good for me– what was best for me. I mean, I wasted so much time keeping up that lie, sarah. And then when we finally got you back, and you didn’t remember having lost your little girl, I did it again. Tried to keep you from the painful truth about her. I’m not gonna do that anymore. Never again, sarah. When I switched your baby with brady and kristen’s, I…

Sarah: [Sniffling]

Xander: I know. I stole your ability to mourn the loss of your child. And so I was hoping that maybe, now, being here and you– I’m conditioning you. Well, you might finally have the chance to… to grieve for her properly.

Sonny: I can’t believe– damn it! Do you know– I should have known this was coming. After the hatchet job he did on chad, I should’ve seen it coming.

Will: Well, at least we know why leo drugged you.

Leo: So little sonny boy now knows that I’ve still got it, and it was oh-so-fun reminding him. But then I thought to myself, “leo, you are handsome, talented, sexy, funny, young-ish.” Did I mention “handsome?” So I think to myself, “why should you enjoy the spoils of revenge all by your lonesome?” So what do you say? You and me, a little collab, destroying the life of another of my sworn nemeses?

Gwen: Matty, there is only one person that I have to settle a score with, and that is my dear baby sister, abigail.

Kayla: Well, I am happy to report that you are in perfect health.

Abigail: Oh, thanks. Well, I mean, I feel great. But it’s always a relief to hear.

Kayla: Yup. All right, let me just write your script to renew your birth control pills, and you can be on your way.

Abigail: Actually, I’m not sure I want that.

Kayla: Are you and chad thinking about having another baby?

Abigail: Well, I am.

Chad: Whoa. Oh, no. Okay, sorry. Didn’t mean to interrupt.

Belle: Oh, no, no. Chad, you’re not interrupting. Ej and I were just– we’re just talking.

Chad: Okay, great. Just–I’ma let you guys talk.

Belle: Wait, chad, no, I– will you let me explain?

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

Abigail: I haven’t said anything about it to chad yet. But we have always planned on having a really big family, and recently, I’ve just had that feeling–you know, the pull, you know, so…

Kayla: I know exactly the feeling, yes. Of course, I do.

Abigail: I’m sure you do, and so anyway, there was a point in our marriage– or several points, actually– when I didn’t feel that way, because chad and I, we just weren’t in a good place.

Kayla: But you’re in a good place now, I assume?

Abigail: We’re stronger than we have ever been, and…

[Sighs] I feel guilty to say this, but I’m just really grateful that my sister is in prison. You know? And I think that has A… little bit to do with why I’m feeling the pull again– because I know gwen is locked up. I know she can’t hurt us anymore.

Sonny: I feel so violated. I never wanna see those pictures ever again.

Will: Really? I was hoping we would have a couple of them framed.

Sonny: That’s not funny, will. Especially since all of salem is looking at them right now.

Will: Yeah, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t joke.

Sonny: No, no. You shouldn’t have.

Will: I’m sorry.

Sonny: It’s just, I can’t believe this is all still happening. The fact that leo put some sort of sedatives in my cookies and then drugged me, and then undressed me and climbed into bed with me, and now everyone thinks we had sex?

Will: [Scoffs] Are you sure that you didn’t?

Belle: Chad, there is just so much going on–

Chad: Belle, listen. You don’t have to. You don’t have to explain. Um, look, I know how upset you must be with shawn, and given that I’ve been in his shoes, I have to say that I do empathize with him a little bit. So I’m just gonna say this then. After everything that happened between gwen and me, abby and I, you know, we’ve found our way back to each other, and I–look, it’s none of my business, but I do think that– I do think that maybe you and shawn have a chance to do the same.

Ej: Chad, for the record, there is nothing going on between belle and me. I just kissed her. That’s all. She was feeling vulnerable, and… it was wrong of me to take advantage of that. I admit, I overstepped, and for that, I owe you an apology, belle.

Chad: Listen, no, you’re both consenting adults. You don’t have– neither of you have to explain anything to me. Okay? Just–I’ll leave you guys to it.

Belle: [Sighs] Thank you for taking responsibility for what chad just walked in on.

Ej: I take full responsibility, and I hope you accept my apology.

Belle: No, that–I meant I appreciate what you said to chad, but I mean, it’s not entirely true. Yes, you kissed me. But I kissed you back.

Ej: [Chuckles] Belle, what happened between us– it didn’t really mean anything.

Belle: You sure about that?

Sonny: I mean, I don’t remember anything after the cookies, but I mean, even the thought of the possibility that… leo and I– I can’t even say it.

Will: No, I–I’m sorry. I shouldn’t make you say that. I’m sorry for even suspecting that it was possible because you’d have no way of knowing, and–you know what? No. On second thought, it didn’t happen. It definitely didn’t happen.

Sonny: You don’t think so? You don’t think he’d go that far?

Will: No way. No. Well, first of all, leo’s made it clear that he doesn’t wanna sleep with you again, right? So he just wanted to humiliate you and trash your reputation. This is revenge for breaking up him and craig in black and white.

Sonny: So what do I do now?

Will: Well, leo might think this is all a game, and even though we are very confident that he didn’t take full advantage of you, he drugged you, he took off your clothes, and he took pictures of you without your consent. Those are criminal offenses. So what we do is we go to the police and we have his sorry ass arrested.

Sonny: Okay.

Leo: Come on, gwennie. I know you all too well, and I know that from the second those cuffs clicked onto your wrists, you’ve been thinking nonstop about how to smack that smug, little smile off of abigail’s face. She’s probably still smiling now, thinking about how she sabotaged your wedding–

Gwen: Oh, god, please. Will you just stop just twisting the knife?

[Sighs, sniffs] And don’t say his name. It just hurts me too much– especially being stuck in here with all these bloody maniacs. And the worst part is being…

[Sighs] Stuck in here, amongst the worst of them all… while the only man that I ever loved, the man I was supposed to marry, and… as stupid as it sounds, the man that I was supposed to live happily ever after with… is out there. He’s out there in the arms of his beloved sarah.

Sarah: [Sniffling] Mickey… my little angel. How could I ever forget you? Oh, god.

Xander: I loved her too, sarah. She was mine–at least, to me, she was. I helped you bring her into this world. I was the first person to hold her, to… to look in her eyes, and now that she’S… I just wanted little mackenzie, your little girl to… to know that I still love her– that we always will.

Sarah: [Crying]

Xander: That she hadn’t been forgotten.

Sarah: [Sniffles] Thank you.

[Exhales] Thank you for bringing my daughter roses… and for remembering her. I’m sure that wherever mickey is, she’S… she’s forgiven you. I’m sorry. I just still don’t think I ever will be able to.

[Somber music]

Leo: Come here. Believe me. I know what a catch your hunky scotsman was. I can see you now, standing above a subway grate, trying to hold that kilt down over those muscular thighs. What were we talking about?

Gwen: You are unbelievable. I can’t believe you. I’m standing here with my heart torn out, beating its last beat, and you’re fantasizing about my lost love.

Leo: Oh, gwennie, come on! Where is your sense of humor? I’m hurting too, remember? I lost craig.

Gwen: [Sighs]

Leo: But it’s like I’ve always said, “it is better to have loved and lost a–”

Gwen: Okay, all right. Just…stop. Stop.

Leo: There she is. Okay, now that you’re back, let’s get to it. I can’t wait to hear what naughty ideas you have, and I promise to be somewhat respectful of your torn-out heart’s final beats. But more importantly, I promise to help you execute your sweet, sweet revenge.

Gwen: Okay then, how about this? An oldie, but a goodie. We drug abigail and we whisk her off somewhere private, and we take compromising photos–

Leo: My love, my love, my love. [Laughs] I’m just gonna stop you to tell you that I truly do love and adore you, mostly because egotistical as this may sound, you remind me of myself.

Gwen: Back at you, matty.

Leo: I know we have lost our loves. We will always have each other– not to mention, drugging, abduction, and illicit photography.

Chad: I definitely wanna hear about your checkup, but I just walked in on something back home, and I gotta tell you all about it.

Abigail: Oh, idle gossip. My fave. What happened?

Chad: My brother, ej, kissed belle brady, is what happened.

Belle: Look, as chad said, we’re both adults, right? We’re both highly-educated and articulate, and we should be able to talk about this kind of stuff.

Ej: Okay. Would you like to take the lead then?

Belle: [Laughs] Okay, well, um… there’s no denying that the attraction, the sexual tension has been growing between us for a while. Am I wrong?

Ej: No, no. No, you’re not. In fact, that’s quite accurate. So I guess the question is… what do you think we should do about it? My asthma felt anything but normal.

Chad: Yo, ej and belle both downplayed the kiss, and belle definitely seemed flustered.

Abigail: Well, she’s been through a lot lately. She’s feeling pretty vulnerable, I imagine.

Chad: Obviously. But ej took full responsibility. He said he took advantage of the situation.

Abigail: Well, I guess they have been spending a lot of time together lately. Right? And–which makes sense, because she just represented ej when he was accused of kidnapping sami, and we both know that ej’s always been really opportunistic– never really had your scruples, and in fairness to him, he’s just probably hurt too. You know, he feels betrayed himself by sami. So, what, do you think that he’s trying to get belle into bed to soothe his bruised ego?

Chad: What I’m thinking– and this is just my gut feeling, having just walked in on them– I think that ej doesn’t wanna just get belle into bed. I think that ej might be actually really falling for her.

Belle: Um, well, I think that… maybe we should, um… I–you know, I just, uh…

Ej: [Laughs] So much for the two of us being articulate on this issue.

[Both laugh]

Belle: Okay, ej, listen. You know that I’ve been unfaithful to shawn in the past, and I’ve come a long way since then. And yes, shawn hurt me, and he continues to with the way he’s letting jan come between us, but I don’t wanna retaliate, and I just know I can’t live with the guilt of an affair.

Ej: You sound like a woman who is determined to save her marriage.

Belle: I’m just not ready to give up on what shawn and I have– or had. Not yet.

Ej: I care about you, belle. But just like you, my heart still belongs to someone else– someone who hurt me. As much as objectively I know that my marriage is over, samantha is… she’s still my samantha. And you and I, we shared one innocent kiss.

Belle: [Sighs]

Ej: Belle, I’m– I’m sorry about before– my taking advantage of the situation. I promise I will never do it again.

Gwen: So then you didn’t actually touch sonny kiriakis– not in that way?

Leo: Right. I did not debase myself, you’ll be relieved to hear.

Gwen: So relieved.

Leo: [Chuckles] But thanks to my preternatural cleverness and my excellent photographic skills, all of salem believes that sonny debased himself, and we get to watch the kiriakis castle crumble.

Shawn: Sonny, if you were drugged last night, you still have traces of that drug in your system.

Sonny: Well, I mean, I already scheduled an appointment to get a blood test.

Shawn: Good, good, good. Go down there and get it done. Bring me back the results. If we can prove that leo drugged you, I’ll arrest him, and I’ll happily throw away the key.

Sonny: Okay.

Xander: I get it. What I did was– it was unforgivable. I just thought maybe, you know, coming here and, well… thank you, sarah, for coming here with me. I’ll let you have a moment.

Sarah: [Smooches]

I haven’t been able to bring myself to come here.

Xander: I understand.

Sarah: You did this?

Xander: I hope you don’t mind.

Sarah: Xander.

Belle: Well, thank you for letting me keep my stuff here– my boxed-up life.

Ej: Well, your boxed life can stay for as long as you need. Oh. It’s for you.

Belle: For me? Oh, it’s from jan. She said I forgot some of my things.

[Soft dramatic music]

Chad: I swear to you, abby, ej was– he was gentle and respectful.

[Laughs] I know it sounds crazy, but I’m worried that ej might be the one that gets hurt here. We both know how much belle loves shawn.

Abigail: Yeah. Yeah, but I don’t know. You know, he’s not only having a baby with another woman, he’s actually living with her.

Chad: Right. You know, I think it’s definitely gonna be difficult for belle and shawn to work things out. You know, but, I don’t know. Maybe it’s because, you know, you and i were in a similar situation, and here we are stronger than ever. I happen to think they will at some point.

Abigail: I love your optimism. I hope you’re right.

Chad: Enough about all that. How was the checkup with kayla?

Abigail: Oh, I’m fine. I am happy to report I’m the picture of health. However…

[Chuckles] On the topic of babies– although picturing jan having– jan spears having a baby isn’t exactly the perfect segue here, um…

Chad: What are you saying? Are you pregnant?

Abigail: No. [Laughs]

Chad: No?

Abigail: No.

Chad: [Laughs] Okay.

Abigail: But I’m thinking I might like to be.

Kayla: Oh, will, it is so good to see you.

Will: You too. I wish we were seeing each other under better circumstances, obviously.

Kayla: Yes, I do too. So, sonny, you suspect that someone drugged you?

Sonny: I don’t suspect it. I’m sure of it. Um, I had some cookies last night that I thought were from will and arianna. But it turns out they were from leo stark and he must’ve put something in it ’cause they knocked me right out.

Kayla: And how are you feeling now?

Sonny: A little woozy… and a lot angry.

Will: Yeah. We talked to shawn and we need proof that sonny was drugged in order to press charges.

Kayla: Okay. Well, I’d like to give you the once-over just to be safe, and then we’ll draw your blood and see what we find.

Sonny: Okay.

Gwen: So moving right along now, the way I see it, I lost– I lost you-know-who, and you lost craig. So let’s see. If we do the math correctly, carry the one, and two negatives equal a positive–yep. X equals abigail loses chad.

Leo: [Sighs] You are a math whiz. Okay, so to get this equation where we want it, we need somebody to seduce chaddy-blue-eyes, correct?

Gwen: I succeeded at that myself a while back, as you know. Spent weeks sowing the seeds of distrust between him and abigail, and… got chad to cheat on my sister and get me pregnant.

Leo: Which ended tragically for you, I know.

Gwen: It did, indeed. God knows. I mean, if I hadn’t have lost that baby, perhaps things would’ve turned out quite differently for me.

Sarah: [Sniffling] You did this… for me. You put my little girl’s name on a stone so that she wouldn’t be forgotten.

Xander: You remember?

Sarah: Just– it hit me like a flash. We were here before. Together.

And–and I forgave you… after you did this.

[Sniffles]

Xander: Looking back, that was… when we started to heal, and then, slowly… you let me back into your heart.

Sarah: I still…

Xander: Oh, sarah.

Sarah: [Sobbing]

Xander: Well after 8:00.

[Sighs] I guess sarah isn’t gonna show.

Sarah: Xander, I am not just some bimbo who drops everything when you get lonely. I actually have a full schedule today.

Xander: Don’t you think you should eat something then? You know, keep your strength up?

Sarah: Oh, well, that’s a three-course meal. I was just gonna get a yogurt out of a vending machine.

Xander: Well, here’s a better idea. Why don’t we skip straight to dessert?

I’m on my knees, unemployed, apparently unengaged. I’m not really in a cake-kind-of-place right now–

Sarah: Will you just open the damn box?

Xander: This is really weird.

Sarah: [Sighs] Well? Will you? I want–I want you to go back to the salem inn room, and I’m gonna see you tomorrow at the wedding, and every day for the rest of my life.

Xander: Hm, you’re having your bachelorette party, aren’t you? Male strippers?

Sarah: Mm-hmm. No, I am not having a bachelorette party. I don’t have a maid of honor,and that’s who plans all that.

Xander: I should work on that too.

Sarah: Your maid of honor? You should. Go find her. Give me a kiss first.

[Both laugh]

Xander: I can’t wait to come back here tomorrow and see you in that dress, right before I make you my wife.

Sarah: [Crying]

Xander: Sarah, what is it?

Sarah: I remember. I remember everything. Psoriatic arthritis, made my joints stiff,

Abigail: [Sighs] I’m sorry to just throw that at you. I know we haven’t really talked about having kids for a long time now. I know we’ve just been through so much recently. I really, really– I don’t want you to think for a second that I’m not completely happy with my life right now. My life with you and thomas and charlotte– I am the luckiest person in the world.

Chad: No.

Abigail: No. No, like, no, you don’t–you don’t want me to be pregnant?

Chad: No. I am the luckiest person in the entire world, and nothing would make me happier than to make another baby with you.

Abigail: [Chuckles]

[Smooch]

Gwen: You know, the thing is, is I don’t think chad will really stray again– not after everything I put them through. It pains me to say this, but he and abigail seem to be stronger now than ever.

Leo: Boo. Well, if he won’t cheat, and she won’t cheat…

Gwen: Yeah. If we really want to punish abigail… we’re gonna have to take this plan to the next level.

Leo: Wait, are– are you suggesting we…

Belle: These things aren’t even from my office. They’re from shawn’s and my bedroom. So I guess jan has designs on taking over that room too.

Belle: No, thank you. You know what? I know what I need to do.

Leo: Okay, you have it your way, but you know what? I think it’s best we take murder off the table, given that we are both essentially decent, good-hearted people, yes? But still, there has to be some way to get back at that phony little actress for what she did to me.

Gwen: Mm, I assume we’re talking about abigail, yes? And if so, then I am sure that there is.

Leo: So does this mean you’re gonna help me figure something out?

Gwen: I’ll think about it.

Gabi: Honestly, thank you for giving us another chance. You’re not gonna regret it.

Jake: [Chuckles lightly]

Ava: Mm. Morning, handsome.

Jan: [Sighs]

Shawn: Uh, there you go.

Shawn: Yeah. How’re you feeling today?

Jan: Well, there’s no more cramping, so–

Jan: I just–I feel so wiped.

Jan: Not really. I was tossing and turning. I couldn’t get comfortable. And when I finally did fall asleep, I had a terrible nightmare.

Belle: [Groans]

Ej: Good morning, belle.

Belle: Is it? Maybe somebody should tell that to my head.

Ej: [Chuckles] Rough night?

Belle: Oh, yeah. But even worse morning. I almost hurled in the cab on the way over here.

Ej: Oof. Did you come to pick up your car?

Belle: [Sighs] I did. And to thank you for arranging a ride home for me last night. Although, I’m sorry to say, I only vaguely remember it.

Ej: [Chuckles] I understand. Coffee? Or perhaps some hair of the dog?

Belle: Oh, god no. Um, actually I’m gonna get going, I gotta get home.

Ej: Home?

Belle: Uh, shawn’s home.

Ej: I see. Uh, can I ask why?

Belle: Oh, well, at the request of ms. Spears, I have to go clear out my office so she can use it as a nursery for the baby.

Ej: Why are you giving in to jan’s ridiculous demands? It’s your house, belle.

Belle: [Scoffs] Not anymore.

[Tense music]

Leo: Good morning, sunshine.

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “days of our lives.”

[Soft orchestration]

Ej: That house is as much yours as it is shawn’S.

Belle: Yeah, on paper. But I’m not gonna move back in there as long as jan’s living there.

Ej: Which is just until the baby is born, correct?

Belle: Not if jan has anything to say about it.

Ej: You think shawn is going to let her stay indefinitely?

Belle: Listen, I can feel jan just sinking her claws into shawn and into our whole life. I’m sure she thinks she’s gonna be there forever.

Ej: So you’re just going to let jan spears win? Don’t you think your marriage is worth fighting for? Hmm?

Jan: God, it was so awful, shawn. Belle, she dragged me in front of a judge to make sure that I could never see my baby. Oh, god, it felt so real.

Shawn: Okay, but jan, it wasn’t real, all right? It was just a dream.

Jan: Which could easily happen. I mean, you heard the things that she said last night. She wants to file papers to have me declared an unfit mother.

Shawn: It’s because she was upset. I mean, come on, understandably.

Jan: She was serious, shawn. She hates me so much. She was probably happy when I had to go to the hospital.

Shawn: No, no, she was not.

Jan: I bet that she wants me to lose the baby, and was hoping that I would, because that’s what she wants.

Shawn: No, nothing–

Jan: She will do anything to take my child from me.

Shawn: No, nothing is gonna happen, jan, all right? Nobody’s gonna take your child from you.

Jan: You won’t let them, right?

Shawn: No. No, I will not let them.

Leo: Hello? Anybody home? Sonny boy. Guess you really still are out, big guy. Must have indulged in a few too many of those magic cookies last night. Because, baby, you went down like a sack of potatoes. Not before we had our fun though, and the best part is I’ve got proof.

[Grunts] These are even better than I’d hoped.

Leo: [Laughs] Oh, this one might be my favorite. Look at that smile on my face. Hmm. Though I could use a filter on my crow’s feet. Ooh. I guess that is my cue to skedaddle. But oh, what a memorable evening it was, jackson K. At least for me.

Sonny: Oh, my god.

[Groans] Oh, my head.

[Sniffs] What the hell did I do last night?

[Exhales] Oh, my god, I’m gonna be late.

Ava: You were mumbling in your sleep. What were you dreaming about?

Jake: Oh, I, um… don’t remember.

Ava: Hmm. Strange, isn’t it? How quickly we forget our dreams. So what do you want for breakfast, hmm? We’ve got, uh, sausage, bacon. I even picked up some scrapple if you’re feeling homesick for philly.

Jake: You know, ava, when I asked you to move in here, I didn’t mean I wanted you as my personal chef and bottle washer.

Ava: You know I love to cook.

Jake: I know you do, and you’re good at it. But why don’t you let me cook you breakfast for a change.

Ava: You can cook?

Jake: I can scramble and egg. Oh, you look skeptical.

Ava: Uh, I just, uh– I have high standards.

Jake: Then I’ll have to work hard to live up to them.

Jan: You really mean that? You won’t let belle try to take our baby away from me?

Shawn: She’s not gonna do that, jan.

Jan: I think you’re giving her too much credit. And what happens if they send me back to prison right after our angel’s born?

Shawn: Well, if that happens, then I will– I will take the baby to visit you as much as– as much as I possibly can.

Jan: Really? You would do that?

Shawn: Yes. Yes, of course I would do that. I mean, it–it’s your child.

Jan: And yours. Even though I know it’s not what you wanted.

Shawn: How could this be what I wanted, jan? How? Okay, but I have a responsibility to this child. And–and right now, I have a responsibility to you as well.

Jan: Thank you for saying that.

Shawn: Hold–wait, hold on. You know, I also–I also have a responsibility to my wife and to my daughter. And to state the obvious, belle is–she’s–she’s upset at this whole entire situation. I mean, and it’s– she’s got totally a great reason to be.

Jan: What are you saying, shawn?

Shawn: [Sighs] I’m saying that I’m–listen, I’m stuck in the middle here. Right in the middle. You and belle both want me to pick sides. But the side that I need to be on–I need to be on this baby’s side. I do not feel– I don’t feel that it is right to rip a child away from its mother without good reason, so– so I’m not gonna let that happen.

Belle: Of course my marriage is worth fighting for.

Ej: And yet, you don’t seem to be fighting.

Belle: Jan has convinced shawn that if I come within a ten-mile radius of her, she’s gonna get the vapors and possibly lose the baby. Oh, my god, I can’t with her drama.

Ej: Hmm. So you’re doing this for you, not her?

Belle: Yes. First of all, if I don’t let her turn the office into a nursery, then her kid’s gonna move into my kid’s room. And that is just–

Ej: Fair point.

Belle: And I also have to have access to my files so I can do my job properly, so–

Ej: Mm. And you don’t want to be wading past jan every time you’re looking for a document.

Belle: [Scoffs] I don’t want anything to do with her. Anyway, it’s way past time for me to just… bite the bullet.

Ej: Is there any room at your parents’ house for you to set up an office space?

Belle: Oh, no, not really.

Ej: So why not bring it here?

Belle: What?

Ej: We have more rooms than we know what to do with.

Belle: I–you want me to move my office here?

Ej: You are my lawyer, belle. We’ll consider it a retainer.

Belle: Really?

Ej: Of course. I’ll even help you move the boxes.

Belle: Well, that’s very kind of you, but I am perfectly capable–

Ej: I know you are, but I also know chivalry is dead. But I’m hardly anyone’s idea of a knight in shining armor. I’m just a bored, unemployed, ex-tycoon with plenty of time on my hands since my sister foiled my coup attempt at dimera.

Belle: [Chuckles] You really don’t have anything better to do than to help me?

Ej: [Laughs] I really don’T. And besides, we’ll be in and out twice as fast with the two of us. What do you say?

Belle: I say…sold.

Ej: Excellent. Then let’s do this.

Victor: Should have been in the office two hours ago.

Sonny: I know. I know, I don’t–I don’t know how I slept so late.

Victor: Did you go on a bender last night? You look like hell.

Sonny: No, I didn’t drink anything. I don’t think.

Victor: You don’t think?

Sonny: No, but I do feel really strange.

Victor: Have some fruit. Very hydrating, packed with vitamins, and very delicious.

Sonny: You sound like a commercial.

Victor: Well, I should. Henderson outdid himself. Have to make sure he remembers where he got this fruit.

[Tense music]

Sonny: Wait, that’s– that’s not from henderson. That’s from leo stark.

Leo: [Sniffs] Good morning, this is leo stark. I’m sending over those pictures we discussed. They will be in your hot little hands shortly. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

[Phone beeps]

Gabi: Cookies?

Shin: Baked fresh. You have a sweet tooth, no?

Gabi: Yeah, no, I do, but, um, cookies for breakfast?

Shin: Americans eat sugary cereals and toaster pastries. Not to mention muffins the size of my head.

[Chuckles]

Gabi: Yeah, you’re right. Why would cookies be any different?

Shin: Go ahead, have one. Or two.

Gabi: I just feels a little…decadent. Kind of like last night.

Shin: Oh. You aren’t having regrets?

Gabi: No, no, I had– I had a wonderful time. I just–I just think I– I drank a little too much. I was not expecting waking up… here.

Shin: With me.

Gabi: Yeah.

Shin: Then you do have regrets.

Gabi: No, no.

Shin: Good. Because last night… was one of the most intense, and exciting nights of my life. I’ve known you a long time. But you still managed to surprise me… in a thousand different ways.

Gabi: Well, I could say the same.

Shin: Well, what would you say if I told you I was thinking of…postponing my flight back to hong kong?

Gabi: Why would you do that?

Shin: So we could spend more time together. See what happens. But only if that’s what you want.

Jake: That is a lot of hot sauce. Maybe I can’t scramble and egg, huh?

Ava: No– no, they’re perfect. They are. I just, you know– I got used to eating eggs like this when rafe and I were– sorry.

Jake: Gotcha. No, no, no. Hey, look, gabi got me hooked on the stuff too. You know, hot sauce is the one condiment you’re always gonna find in my fridge.

Ava: [Chuckles]

Jake: Well, our fridge.

Ava: Right. About that, um– you know, I was up early this morning, and I was thinking, um–

Jake: That sounds serious.

Ava: No, it’s just, you know, we were roommates, right? And then we were in bed together, and then… we were in bed together.

Jake: Yeah?

Ava: I just– I don’t know, I feel like we may have just skipped some steps along the way.

Jake: [Clears throat] You saying you have regrets about last night?

Ava: No. Absolutely not. But I do think I’m gonna move out.

Jan: Oh, shawn. These are all my favorites. I can’t believe you remembered.

Shawn: Yeah, well, we have spent a lot of time together over the years. Even if most of it was against my will.

Jan: This reminds me of the time that you took me in when I was pregnant in high school. You were even willing to say that the baby was yours because of what nicole’s father had put me through. Gosh, that was a terrible time in my life. I had almost given up on the idea of ever being a mother after that. And now… shawn, I already love this baby so much. Especially because we made it together.

Shawn: Oh, come on, jan.

Jan: I know, I know. I can’t get any ideas about us. And I’m not. I know how much you’ve given up to take care of me and the baby. And I just want you to know how grateful I am. Centrum multigummies aren’t just great tasting…

Jake: You want to move out? Was I that terrible last night?

Ava: Oh, no.

[Chuckles] No, you–you were amazing.

Jake: Good, ’cause you seemed to be enjoying yourself.

Ava: Oh, I was.

Both: [Chuckle]

Ava: A lot. Which is why I have to move out.

Jake: I don’t understand.

Ava: Look, um– I moved in with rafe, right? ‘Cause I didn’t have any place to go. And then we started sleeping together, and we were already living together, and the whole time he was in love with another woman. You know how that ended, and I really– I have no desire to get on that rollercoaster again.

Jake: I’m not in love with another woman.

Ava: Yeah, that’s debatable.

Jake: Wow.

Ava: Uh, look, I’m just saying I have gone from zero to 60 again. And, you know, if we’re gonna be in a relationship, I really don’t want to fast-track the living together part.

Jake: Ava, I–

Ava: Oh, if. If…you want to be in a relationship.

Jake: [Sighs]

Ava: Look, if you see this as, like, a friends with benefits sort of thing, that’s–

Jake: I don’T. Okay? Ava, I–

[Chuckles] Man, I like you. I like you–I like you a lot. And I– I’m sorry, but I– I just don’t know what’s changed since you moved in. I mean, you’re still unemployed. So how’re you gonna pay rent? Unless you have somewhere else to go?

Ava: No, not yet.

Jake: Okay. So how about we think of another plan that doesn’t involve leaving you homeless.

Ava: You got some ideas?

Jake: Well, I just started back up at dimera. And I’m making more money now, so maybe I can find a bigger apartment that has at least a second bedroom.

Ava: Yeah, but that’s gonna take a little time, isn’t it? What do you think we can do until then, hmm? You’re definitely not sleeping on the floor. Don’t say that.

Jake: No, that’s not gonna happen. My back still hasn’t recovered from that. But, look, if you want to put the brakes on the whole sleeping together thing–

Ava: The “sleeping together” thing? Hmm?

Jake: I’m just saying, if you want to, you know, take a step back, let me woo you with my culinary skills and my manly charm. We can catch up on all the steps that we skipped.

Ava: Yeah, I think it might be working already.

Jake: Mm. So you’ll stay?

Ava: Yeah, I’ll stay. Thanks for understanding.

Jake: Although I might to take a cold shower… or seven.

Both: [Chuckle]

Ava: Yeah, and I, uh– I might have to request that you put on a shirt. So, uh…

Jake: Oh.

Ava: I don’t lose my willpower.

Jake: Ah. So you want me to cover up? Is that it?

Ava: [Sighs] Not really.

Jake: What are you doing?

Ava: What am I doing? Hmm, well… I was thinking, maybe… we could wait on those steps…

[Chuckles] Maybe until this afternoon, or, I don’t know, maybe this evening?

Jake: Are you sure you want to?

Ava: Jake, stop talking. Mm.

Gabi: Uh, you want to stay in salem because of me?

Shin: Well, I have to admit, at first I was worried you might just be using me to make jake jealous.

Gabi: You mentioned that, yeah.

Shin: But last night… well, you were extremely…attentive.

Gabi: As were you.

Shin: I know some see it as bad form to be too forward. But I must admit… I woke up this morning thoroughly smitten. But if you don’t feel the same way, just say the word. There will be no awkwardness, no repercussions. We can forget last night ever happened.

Gabi: I don’t want to forget last night happened. In fact… I want to make it happen again.

Belle: [Clears throat]

Shawn: Belle?

Belle: What is going on here?

Jan: Relax, would you? It was just a hug. I was expressing my gratitude to shawn for how well he’s been treating me and the baby. Isn’t that right?

Shawn: Yeah. Yeah, it is right. And what the hell is he doing here?

Belle: He came to help me clean out my office per jan’s demand.

Ej: So let’s just get this over with, shall we?

Victor: You accepted a gift from leo stark? Are you stark raving mad?

Sonny: Okay, well, I didn’t exactly accept it.

Victor: Well, then what are they doing here?

Sonny: I don’t–I don’t know. Um…[Sighs] Okay, uh, leo showed up yesterday with the fruit bouquet.

Victor: Why?

Sonny: I don’t–I don’t know. Okay, he said– he said he wanted to congratulate me on my new job. And I thought the fruit was probably poisoned, so I didn’t eat any.

Victor: Well, I just had some.

Sonny: It–it’s fine, uncle vic, all right? It’s okay.

Victor: How is that fine?

Sonny: Because leo stark had some and he’s fine, okay? And you’re–you’re fine too. Right?

Victor: Well, as fine as I ever am these days.

Sonny: [Sighs] Weird part is, you know, even though I didn’t have any of the fruit and I didn’t drink anything, you know, and I feel so weird. I mean, the only thing I had last night was– was cookies.

Victor: What cookies?

Sonny: Oh, um– it was just some cookies that were delivered from will and arianna.

Victor: Are you sure they sent them?

Sonny: I can– I mean, I could text them. But… oh, my god.

Victor: What is it? I just remembered I asked– I asked will the same question last night. He said he didn’t send any cookies. Maybe leo did drug me.

Gwen: [Sighs] Leo.

Leo: Hello, guinevere. What’s a nice girl like you doing in a place like this? I have moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.

Gwen: [Sighs]

Gwen: [Sighs] Come on, no I don’T.

Leo: Okay, you look awful. I mean, to me you always look beautiful, even when you look awful. But let’s just say, prison garb isn’t your most flattering look. I could maybe pull it off. Thank god I’ve never had to. Oh, there was that one night in istanbul–

Victor: So leo stark poisoned you?

Sonny: I don’t know. I don’t know, but he– he definitely did something to me.

Victor: You better check your wallet.

Sonny: I mean, everything seems to be intact.

Ava: Yeah, you wouldn’t expect a place like this to have such great water pressure.

Jake: We keep this up, we’re certainly gonna save a lot on our water bill.

Ava: Mm. So much for my grand plan to take things slowly, huh?

Jake: You still want to take a step back, all you gotta do is say the word.

Ava: You know, you are quite a gentleman, jake.

Gabi: I know last night I said I–I didn’t care if people at work talk, but now that we’re actually, you know–

Shin: A thing?

Gabi: Yeah, you know, I just think that we should be a little discreet about it, at least at first.

Shin: Of course. I’ll tell my father I’m staying in salem for business purposes.

Gabi: You think he’d be upset if he knew the truth?

Shin: Frankly, I don’t care. Besides, he keeps telling me I need to settle down with a nice girl.

Ej: Do you have a problem with that?

Shawn: Yeah, I actually do have a problem with that. So what’s the deal, ej? Sammi doesn’t want to have anything to do with you, so, what, now you’re gonna go after her sister?

Belle: Shawn, stop it.

Shawn: That’s–I’m warning you, you stay the hell out of my marriage.

Ej: Well, maybe if you knew how to look after your wife properly, she wouldn’t need to turn to me for comfort.

Leo: Well, I am happy to oblige. In fact, it’s one of the reasons I came here. I wanted to share with you my progress in my quest for revenge.

Gwen: I didn’t even know there was a quest.

Leo: Oh, there is. And it’s gonna cheer you up big time to hear about it.

Victor: Can’t believe you fell for the old bait and switch.

Sonny: Yeah, I was so careful about the fruit.

Victor: Yeah, and you completely ignored the cookies.

Sonny: Yeah, but the cookies showed up before leo did. I think? I don’t know. God, he set me up!

Victor: This is all your fault, you know.

Victor: No, because you poked the bear, or in this case the weasel.

Shin: Jake. What brings you here?

Shin: Actually, I’ve changed my plans. I’ve decided to stay in salem for a while.

Ava: Well, jake left these on the kitchen table this morning, and they are the documents that he had you sign.

Gabi: Okay, thank you.

Ava: I’ll be going.

Gabi: Oh, wait. Ava, hang on. I just got some news you’re gonna want to hear.

Ava: Oh?

Gabi: That was my brother on the phone. He proposed to nicole last night. And guess what? She said yes. Isn’t that wonderful? No matter who you are,

Ava: Rafe and nicole are getting married? How nice. I’m thrilled for them.

Gabi: Yeah, I’m sure.

Ava: I know you wish otherwise, that I would fly into a jealous rage, but I’m over rafe. Completely. Actually, I’ve moved on with someone new. Someone younger, smarter, sexier…ooh. And he’s definitely better suited for me. You will never, ever guess who.

Gabi: I really don’t care.

[Soft dramatic music]

Will: I’m guessing whatever went down last night, it had something to do with this?

Gwen: What did you do to sonny?

Leo: You don’t really care about the details, do you?

Gwen: Mm, no, not really. But I also know you didn’t come all this way to recount them.

Leo: I didn’T. I’m done with sonny– for the time being. So moving right along, guinivere, my knockout friend with chutzpah to burn and that limey accent that makes my heart go pitter-patter. How would you like to help me get revenge on somebody else?

Jan: I’m sorry. I’m sorry belle made you so upset.

[Tray clatters] It’s fine.

Jan: Well, I–I can’t help feeling like this whole situation is my fault.

Shawn: Look, I don’t care whose fault it is anymore. I don’T.

Belle: Are you sure the staff is okay unloading the car?

Ej: Yeah, it’s what we pay them to do.

Belle: Yeah, I guess I’m just not used to the whole servant thing.

Ej: [Chuckles] Samantha wasn’t either. But she adjusted eventually.

[Sighs] I, um… I’m very sorry, belle.

Belle: For what?

Ej: I shouldn’t have let my temper get the best of me with shawn.

Belle: No, you know what? He deserved it. He’s the one who let some psychotic, sadistic maniac move into our house and into our lives.

Ej: He’s an idiot to take you for granted. I would never do that.

Belle: Thank you for saying that.

Ej: I mean it, belle.

Belle: [Sniffles]
