Brando: Morning.

Sasha: Good morning. Mm, did I oversleep?

Brando: Mnh-mnh. There’s no such thing on vacation. You can go back to sleep if you want. We can have coffee later.

Sasha: Thanks, but I need to wake up. Mmm! That is good.

Brando: Mm-hmm. Making coffee is one of my many skills.

Sasha: The others being?

Brando: We have an entire vacation for you to find out.

Sasha: I can’t wait.

Brando: Well, we have a lot to celebrate. [ Sighs ] Maxie is finally home safe. Peter August is gone. And we get to spend time together. Just the two of us. This is exactly what we both need.

Professor Khan: Read chapter 8 for the next class. Be ready to discuss. See you next week. Uh, Ms. Robinson, a moment of your time. You seemed, uh, pretty silent in class today. Are you alright? That’s not like you.

Trina: Uh. There’s just been a lot on my mind.

Professor Khan: I know freshman year can be overwhelming, but you seem to be handling it well. You’re one of my few “a” students this semester.

Trina: Thanks.

Professor Khan: But remember — class participation is a third of your grade, and I’d hate to see you get lost in the shuffle.

Josslyn: Thanks for walking to class early with me. I know you have a lot going on at home.

Cameron: Doesn’t mean I can’t be there for you. Things still weird between you and Trina?

Josslyn: We’re roommates, and we barely see each other. A lot of that’s on me. I mean, between practice and team meetings, I’m really busy. But Trina only comes back to the room to sleep. She’s not returning any of my texts or my calls.

Cameron: Things have been weird since the cabin with Esme and Spencer.

Josslyn: They’ve only gotten worse since. And it’s all thanks to Esme.

Esme: Happy belated birthday.

Spencer: Are you crazy? You’ll get me in trouble.

Esme: Lighten up, boyfriend. I know you spent your birthday in here alone last night. That kiss is my present.

Spencer: And if the wrong guard sees you, it blows back on me.

Esme: I’m sorry to have bothered you. Lucky for you, I’m leaving. Class calls.

Spencer: Fine. See you around.

Esme:  Someone woke up on the wrong side of his prison cot this morning. What’s with the mood?

Sam: Hmm. I guess a day of hatchet throwing didn’t cheer you up.

Carly: It did. And you and Olivia were right. I definitely needed to blow off some steam. I’m sad today.

Sam: Why?

Carly: Been thinking about Courtney. Today’s the anniversary of her death.

Sonny: Hey, Courtney. It’s hard to believe how much time has passed since you left us. Your son is a full-grown man getting himself in trouble. I couldn’t make it last year because — well, I’m sure you know what happened. I like to think that you’re always watching out for me. But I just want to let you know that I’ve been thinking about you. And you’re still in my heart.

Nikolas: Mine too.

Ava: [ Chuckles ] I haven’t seen you in a while, Victor. Nikolas is joining me for brunch. If you’d like to join us, that’s fine.

Victor: Oh, uh, unfortunately, I-I can’t stay. I have some business I have to attend to.

Ava: Oh. Well, you — you’ve been keeping yourself scarce since — since Valentine’s Day.

Laura: Keeping a low profile. Trying to avoid being implicated in an ongoing investigation. That sounds right, doesn’t it?

Anna: Thank you so much for meeting me. Oh, I didn’t realize it was gonna be so cold out here.

Drew: Ooh. Too bad we weren’t in port Charles during the heat wave.

Anna: [ Chuckles ] I just wanted to talk to you in private.

Drew: Yeah. Your message sounded pretty urgent. What’s going on?

Anna: I just have this feeling that we’re headed for danger, and at the center of it all is Victor. And you.

Sonny: I didn’t expect to see you here.

Nikolas: Courtney was important to me, too.

Sonny: Yeah.

Nikolas: I loved her.

Sonny: Um, was it worth it, Nikolas? Breaking up your marriage to Emily and Jax’s to my sister for an affair? I’m just curious.

Nikolas: I loved Courtney. I was gonna marry her.

Sonny: So, if Courtney were still alive, you think you’d still be together?

Nikolas: I’d like to think so. In truth, I don’t know.

Sonny: Well, at least you’re honest. [ Laughs ]

Nikolas: I do know this, though. You know, Courtney, she’s always gonna be the mother of my son.

Sonny: Mm-hmm.

Nikolas: Nothing’s gonna change that. It’s just like Carly. She’s always gonna be the mother of your children.

Carly: You know, the Metro Court is named after her.

Sam: Yeah, I do know.

Carly: Wow. Courtney and I were really close. You know, and with Jax out of town and Spencer and Josslyn on the outs and my impending divorce from Sonny, I just feel like all my connections to Courtney are slipping away. And you don’t need to hear this. [ Laughs ]

Sam: [ Chuckles ] No, it’s — it’s true, though. No, Courtney and I were not the best of friends, but maybe if she would have lived, we would have become friends. I mean, if Elizabeth Baldwin and I can become friends, anything’s possible.

Carly: Hell sure did freeze over there.

[ Both laugh ]

Sam: Who knows? Maybe Courtney and I would’ve been able to bury the hatchet. Or throw a hatchet at a wall instead of each other. [ Chuckles ]

Victor: I’m sorry, Mayor Collins, but I have no idea what you’re referring to.

Laura: I don’t think it’s coincidence that Victor resurfaced at the same time Luke died and the Ice Princess was stolen. It’s all connected. Luke’s death was not an accident. And Victor was behind it.

Laura: There have been a lot of suspicious activities in Port Charles recently.

Victor: Is this your way of accusing me of helping Peter August escape? Because if so, I categorically deny having anything to do with it. Peter August was a blight on this city, and all of us are better off without him.

Laura: Well, you can deny it all you want. If you were involved in it, there will be a way to prove it.

Victor: I’ll take that as my cue to leave, shall I? Ava.

Ava: Mm.

Victor: It’s a pleasure, as always. Madame Mayor.

Ava: Well, that was fun. Do you want to tell me what’s going on between you and Victor?

Drew: So, I’ve been working under the same assumption — right? — That Victor is dangerous and that his agenda did not die with Peter. How did — how did you get there?

Anna: Liesl bugged Victor, and she overheard a conversation he had with you and Sam.

Drew: At the docks.

Anna: Yeah.

Drew: Yeah, Sam and I were convinced that Victor was trying to activate my old conditioning.

Anna: Exactly.

Drew: Does Valentin know about this? Did you mention this to him? Because we shared a cell in Crete for a little bit, and he seemed to have such solid insights into Victor.

Anna: Valentin’s out of commission right now. He was, um — he was abducted.

Drew: What?

Anna: Right before Peter escaped. And he turned up in an alley. He was drugged, disoriented, and he was still recovering from the gunshot wound in Crete. And, you know, he developed an infection. He’s at a clinic out of town, but he’s making progress. He’ll be home soon.

Drew: Well, good. I’m glad to hear that. Make sure you send him my regards next time you talk to him, okay?

Anna: Yes, yes. My wish is that we — we expose Victor and whatever his crimes are before Valentin comes home.

Drew: That is a tall order. I mean, we’re gonna have to move very quickly.

Anna: See, I just feel that Victor is going to exploit the father-son relationship and manipulate Valentin the same way that he’s co-opting the rest of his family.

Spencer: Sorry, I didn’t mean to take my anger out on you. Forgive me.

Esme: I get it. Spring Ridge may be minimum security, but it’s still a prison and you’re still incarcerated.

Spencer: It’s more than that. [ Voice breaking ] Today’s the anniversary of my mother’s death.   [ Crying, sniffles ] And even though I never knew her… I still feel that we have a connection. Every year, I made sure that there were flowers on her grave. And I’ve never missed a year…until now.

Esme: Hey. Your mother understands, Spence.

Spencer: It’s not about her understanding. It is about letting the world know that I remember her… …because my mother lives on as long as I keep up these little traditions. When I was talking to Trina about how she felt after she thought that her father had died, she said that she felt the same way.

Josslyn: I hate that there’s tension between me and Trina. All I did was call Esme out for playing mind games with her.

Cameron: And I’m sure you were very nice and polite.

Josslyn: Hey, my mom taught me that you can’t just ignore an Esme and hope that they go away. They’re like sharks looking for blood. So, the best way to deal with them is to punch them in the nose and hope they retreat.

Cameron: I believe the expression is to bop them on the nose.

Josslyn: Oh. It’s not how I do it. Trina. Uh, how brutal was Khan’s class?

Trina: Uh, lots of participation required today, so be prepared to be called on more than usual.

Josslyn: Hey, wait. Are you still mad at me for what happened with Esme the other day?

Esme: That’s a beautiful sentiment, but you don’t only need to keep your mother’s memory alive on the anniversary of her passing. I mean, you can visit her grave anytime you want and leave out flowers for her when you get out, which won’t be that long.

Spencer: True.

Esme: Besides, you were in boarding school for years. What did you do those times?

Spencer: Alfred and Ross left flowers on her grave for me.

Esme: Well, there you go. You can do that again. Or… I’d be more than honored to leave flowers for your mother.

Spencer: That’s not the point. The point is… …that I finally am here [Chuckles] In Port Charles, and that I should be able to do this for her, but I can’t! Because of the choices… …that I made. That I made.

Esme: I was only trying to help.

Spencer: But you don’t understand.

Esme: But Trina would?

Brando: You know… it is too bad we spent most of the night talking.

Sasha: You could have made a move.

Brando: Mm. Well, I was waiting for a signal from you. I didn’t want to pressure you.

Sasha: Anyone ever tell you what a great guy you are?

Brando: [ Sighs ] A great guy? That’s what you say to someone you want to put in the friend zone.

Sasha: Not in this case.

Brando: I missed you. I missed us.

Sasha: Did we have plans in town?

Brando: Um, lunch reservations, um, tickets to Maid of the Mist. Um. Or we could just hang out here.

Sonny: Carly and I may not be together, but she’s still a great mother to Michael, Josslyn, Donna, and Avery.

Nikolas: Ava is Avery’s mother, not Carly.

Sonny: I’m not here to argue with you, Nikolas. Especially in front of my sister’s grave. I’m just saying she would have been an amazing mother to Spencer if she had lived.

Nikolas: Courtney had a kind soul.

Sonny: Yeah.

Nikolas: She was patient as a saint.

Sonny: And you know what? I would have loved for Spencer to get to know her.

Nikolas: She would have had a good influence on him. She might have even negated the mistakes I made while raising him. Now you tell me I’m wrong, that I did the best that I could with Spencer.

Sonny: I wish I could do that if — if I believed it, but I’m not gonna lie.

Trina: Joss, I’m not mad at you.

Josslyn: Just too busy to respond to my calls or my texts?

Trina: Okay, maybe I’m a little annoyed. You made me collateral damage when you got up all in Esme’s face.

Josslyn: Oh, Trina, come on. You know that apology was as fake as she is. All I did was call her out on it.

Trina: And then you told her something I told you in confidence.

Josslyn: Look, I said I was sorry for that. I did. But obviously you don’t believe me.

Trina: I do. I just need a little bit of time to process. You put me in the middle of your war with Esme.

Josslyn: But Esme wasn’t coming for me. She was coming for you. Trina, the whole thing was a setup, start to finish. I mean, Esme texts you that she wants to meet up, she shows up to apologize, she gives you some saccharine speech about how she made a mistake and wants to be friends. Look, I admit that I lost my temper. And the thing about Spencer giving you that book, it just slipped out.

Cameron: Spencer gave you a book?

Trina: He asked his grandmother to give it to me, and I happened to get it on Valentine’s Day. But it was not a Valentine’s gift. It was just a gift. And what part of keeping a confidence don’t you understand?

Josslyn: Cam cares about you, Trina. Unlike Esme. I’m sorry for betraying your trust, but I’m not gonna apologize for defending my friends.

Esme: [ Voice breaking ] So only Trina understands what it’s like for you to lose your mother?

Spencer: Hey —

Esme: She hasn’t experienced real loss. Her father isn’t even dead.

Spencer: I’m sorry. Hey, that was a stupid thing to say. It’s just that you never really talk about your parents.

Esme: I don’t like talking about them.

Spencer: I get it. But I forget sometimes. Hey, I promise to do better. It’s not gonna happen again.

Esme: And what about the gift you got Trina?

Spencer: I get all my friends thank you gifts. It’s a lot easier than sending handwritten cards.

Esme: And it’s a coincidence that your grandmother just happens to give your gift to Trina on Valentine’s Day.

Spencer: It was. Esme, hey, you have to believe me.

Victor: Spencer, my boy, my apologies for not visiting you on your birthday. Oh, I’m sorry. Would, uh — would you like me to come back another time?

Laura: What do you think’s going on, Ava?

Ava: I think Victor helped Peter August escape from that prison van that was taking him to Pentonville, and then I think he somehow managed to smuggle him out of the country. And I think you think the same thing.

Laura: Does it matter now? I mean, Peter’s dead.

Ava: But this isn’t about Peter, really, is it? It’s about dear uncle Victor. And for you, that’s very, very personal.

Laura: [ Chuckles ] You can think whatever you like, Ava. Actually, you know, I-I came to meet Sam.

Ava: Don’t you trust me?

Laura: I was watching you earlier with Victor, and it looked kind of close to me.

Ava: [ Breathes sharply ] Well, you know, keep your enemies closer and all that. I trust Victor as much as you do.

Drew: Victor co-opting his family is one thing, but what use does he have for me?

Anna: The working theory is that Peter was stringing Victor along.

Drew: Right, Peter was gonna give Victor the means to my conditioning to activate it. But I still — I don’t get it. I don’t understand why. I mean, what use does he have for an ex-Navy Seal to do his dirty work? He’s got plenty of ex-military on his payroll.

Anna: Don’t you think it’s possible that Victor thinks you know something — or, rather, that you did?

Laura: I think that Victor is planning something that could spell trouble for all of us.

Ava: Well, he has made some cryptic comments about his plans.

Laura: And Spencer now just idolizes his great-uncle, and it seems like Nikolas is warming up to him, too. So, I feel like I can’t say anything negative because they’d both defend him, and then that would just drive them closer to Victor.

Ava: Well, I know that Nikolas does have his guard up. But I think you’re right, and Victor is making some progress there. And Spencer we know is already firmly in Victor’s camp.

Laura: But you, Ava, you’re smarter than that.

Nikolas: [ sighs ] Walked right into that one, didn’t I?

Sonny: You’ve made a lot of mistakes, mistakes that have changed Spencer’s life, shaped his character. You can’t change that.

Nikolas: Yeah, what do you want me to do, Sonny? Own up to my decisions, my past?

Sonny: That would be a start, now, wouldn’t it? Move forward with the people you love. Don’t run away from your mistakes. ‘Cause when you do that, it makes your pain worse.

Sam: I guess we’re all starting new chapters.

Carly: So, things are good with you and Dante?

Sam: I don’t want to jinx it, but, yeah, things are going pretty good.

Carly: That’s great. What about Drew?

Sam: Yeah [Sighs] That’s definitely…over. We just realized that we’d be better off as co-parents and friends. Why do you ask?

Carly: I don’t know. He’s been really supportive while I’ve been going through everything with Sonny and the divorce. And so, I don’t know, I was trying to look out for him the way he’s been looking out for me.

Ava: I’m listening.

Laura: Victor is trying to make nice right now with Nikolas, which means he’s going to do the same with you.

Ava: Hmm. He’s already trying pretty damn hard.

Laura: Good, good. Let him. Get him to lower his guard so much with you that he might even confide in you.

Ava: And if Victor says something incriminating, you’d like me to pass that on to you?

Laura: If you’d like.

Ava: And I’m guessing that you don’t want me to tell my husband about this arrangement.

Laura: You know, Ava, we dealt with that situation with Ryan together. I wouldn’t ask for your help if it wasn’t serious.

Ava: And I’m sure I’ll know if Victor says something relevant.

Laura: I’m sure you will. I have every confidence in you. Thank you.

Carly: I was ready to lose my mind the night that I walked in on Sonny and Nina at the haunted star.

Sam: Oh.

Carly: And I ran into Drew right after, and, um [Chuckles] Well, he let me vent. And he didn’t try and fix me. He didn’t try and stop me or make it better. He just let me talk.

Laura: Sam, sorry I’m late. I got a little sidetracked. Hi, Carly.

Carly: Hi.

Sam: Oh, n-not a problem. Um, it was really nice talking to you.

Carly: It was nice talking to you, too.

Sam: What was so important that you couldn’t talk to me on the phone about it?

Laura: It is about Victor’s associate.

Sam: Johann?

Laura: Some new details have come to light, and I thought you should know about them, considering it involves Drew.

Esme: As always, a pleasure, Uncle Victor. I-I wish I could stay and chat, but I need to bounce. Um, class calls. Hey. Bye, spence.

Spencer: Bye.

Esme: Time to get this done.

Victor: So, what was that all about?

Spencer: [ Sighs ] My fault. I-I took my frustration at being stuck in here out on Esme. She didn’t deserve it.

Victor: Mm. Ah, you take after your grandfather. He always had a much shorter fuse than the rest of the family.

Spencer: Hm.

Victor: So, what exactly lit this particular powder keg, hm?

Spencer: Every year, I leave flowers on my mother’s grave on the anniversary of her death. I can’t this year for obvious reasons. Mm. Unless…

Victor: Unless what?

Spencer: Well, unless you bust me out.

Drew: So you think that Victor is trying to access my old memories?

Anna: It’s possible. But, look, Andre confirmed for me that those memories were gone.

Drew: But Peter made him believe otherwise.

Anna: Well, Peter and Faison, they were in charge of the whole memory experiment. But then Victor, he took custody of you at Crichton Clark. And this — this kind of tracks with this new information that I’m privy to. [ Sighs ]

Drew: Such as?

Laura: It’s alright, Anna. I think Drew has a right to know the truth.

Victor: Absolutely not.

Spencer: Come on, Uncle Victor. I know that you have connections in Spring Ridge. You arranged for Samuel to make sure that I was safe. How hard could it be for you to arrange a furlough?

Victor: Furloughs are almost exclusively reserved for family funerals and deathbeds.

Spencer: Then it can be off the books. It’s not like this place is surrounded by barbed wire. I can be shuttled out of here and brought back in an hour.

Victor: I will not risk extending your sentence, much less joining you in here. Not when there’s so much in the works for the future of this family.

Spencer: And I want to be a part of that future. We are Cassadines, Uncle Victor. Family is everything to us. We don’t get to pick and choose who we love, who we trust. Just because my mother died hours after me being born doesn’t mean that I don’t miss her every single day. I know I screwed up. And I’m being punished for it now, deservedly so. But think about the people who you’ve loved and lost. Wouldn’t you do everything in your power to make sure that they weren’t forgotten? There must be something you can do.

Trina: We were so close to getting past this, but you just can’t help yourself, can you?

Cameron: Okay, let’s just take a moment right now. I understand —

Trina: I didn’t realize you were taking a course on mediation, Cam.

Cameron: None of my business?

Trina: Mm.

Josslyn: Am I wrong for defending my friends?

Trina: No, you’re not wrong, but it doesn’t make it any better when you say there are certain things you won’t apologize for after saying you’re sorry.

Josslyn: Trina, I’m trying my best here. We all lose it sometimes. Like you did at the cabin.

Trina: Oh, my gosh, apologies aren’t transactional. You made my feelings for Spencer part of “the Josslyn Jacks show.”

Josslyn: That was Esme, not me.

Trina: It’s always Esme, isn’t it? Can’t you just take responsibility for making things worse? Can you, for once in your life, think about what I’m going through?

Esme: My, my. You can cut the tension with a knife, can’t you?

Nikolas: Spencer’s loved, Courtney. Maybe I need to remind him of that more often.

Sonny: [ Groans ] Okay, Courtney, I’m sorry. I should — I know I should have been nicer, but I think… that’s what Nikolas needed, and that’s what Spencer needs. And I’m gonna — I’m gonna — I’m gonna look out for your boy, just like I trust that you keep an eye on… my dad, Morgan, Jason. And Brando and Sasha’s baby boy.

Sasha: I love you.

Brando: I love you, too.

Sasha: That was good.

Brando: Mm.

Brando: Mm-hmm. Mm, like the first time. [ Sighs, chuckles ]

Sasha: Yeah, except – except in a bed this time.

Brando: Yeah, yeah. Well, there is that. [ Sighs ]

Sasha: I’ll trade my pillow mint for your thoughts.

Brando: Oh. I was thinking. It’s been a while since we’ve been with each other. Not since…

[ Water rushing in distance ]

Brando: Hi.

Sasha: Wait. Don’t move. I want to take a mental picture of this. It’s beautiful.

Brando: Oh, the — the view?

Sasha: Mm, that too.

Cameron: Best to stay out of this, Esme.

Trina: I should go.

Josslyn: Wait. What if I ditch class and we can talk?

Trina: I’m all talked out. Maybe another time.

Josslyn: Well, text me. I’ll always answer.

Cameron: Trina… for what it’s worth, I’m very sorry.

Trina: Thanks.

[ Indistinct conversations ]

Esme: Trina.

Trina: I really don’t want to hear from you, Esme.

Esme: [ Sighs ] Don’t worry, Trina. You’re probably never gonna hear from any of us soon enough.

Nikolas: You holding up okay?

Carly: Are you?

Nikolas:  I should join my lovely wife. Take care, Carly. Courtney would have loved what you’ve done with the place. What it’s become. I’m sorry that I’ve never told you that before.

Carly: Thank you. You just missed your mother.

Nikolas: Oh, yeah? What did she have to say?

Carly: No, I-I didn’t get to say anything to her but hello, but she did seem to be getting into it with Ava and Victor.

Drew: You really think that Victor had something to do with Luke’s death?

Laura: We don’t have proof. We only have circumstantial evidence.

Anna: But we — we all believe that he’s been planning something for months. So what if Luke stumbled upon it, and then Victor would only have one way to stop Luke?

Drew: But, I mean, I-I barely even knew Luke. So — so how would he have come across something that relates to me?

Laura: Crichton-Clark, Helena, Victor, the Ice Princess?

Anna: The common threads is the Cassadines. But we can’t stop Victor until we have proof.

Drew: There’s like dozens of people died in that crash in Innsbruck, dozens.

Anna: And the only way for us to prove that Victor is responsible is to go to Austria.

Laura: You’ve got to tread very carefully. That was deemed an accident.

Anna: Right.

Laura: If you reopen the investigation, it’s going to let Victor know that we’re on to him.

Anna: Yes.

Sam: You know, there is another way to find out what Victor wants.

Sasha: It’s so beautiful here, so peaceful. [ Sighs ] I really don’t want to go back to the real world. I never want this trip to end.

Brando: Yeah, I wish I could give you that. But what I can try to do is make the real world just as special.

Sasha: Mm-hmm?

Brando: Mm-hmm.

Sasha: And how do you plan on doing that?

Brando: By planning to spend the rest of my life with you.

Sasha: Let’s do it.

Brando: Do what?

Sasha: Let’s get married. Today.

Sam: Something in your past motivated Victor to help Peter escape.

Anna: And Peter misled Victor, right? But now Peter’s dead.

Laura: Anna, is it possible that Victor could have gotten access to Andre Maddox and questioned him about Drew’s memories?

Anna: I don’t know, but I can contact Andre for sure. I-I’m confident that he would never reveal that kind of information, and certainly not to someone like Victor.

Drew: So Victor still believes that he can access my memories.

Sam: Exactly. So what if we set a trap for Victor by convincing him it’s possible?

Victor: No, no, no further action from Anna or Drew with regards to our connection to Peter August. But [Sighs] I fear this is only the calm before the storm.

Nikolas: Starting without me?

Ava: Mm-hmm. Never too early to keep celebrating Peter’s demise.

Nikolas: [ Chuckles ] Amen to that. [ Chuckles ] Carly…just told me that she saw you and my mother having a pretty intense conversation. [ Breathes deeply ] What was that about?               [ Sighs ]

Ava: Oh, we were just gossiping about you. Every once in a while, Laura needs a little reassurance that I’m taking very good care of you.

Nikolas: Had nothing to do with my uncle?

Ava: No, I told her that I had a nice conversation with him.

Nikolas: Really?

Ava: Yeah. And I’m making more of an effort with Victor.

Nikolas: [ Sighs ] I’m making more of an effort with Spencer. Not having much luck.

Ava: And you will keep trying until you do. In the meantime, since your uncle wants to be closer with you, what do you say we invite Victor to dinner?

Spencer: Hello, mother. Sorry I was late this year. [ Sighs ] I see that someone beat me to it. I’m glad that you weren’t alone.

Portia: I absolutely love it.

Curtis: I absolutely love you.

Portia: Oh, my gosh. Did we just find our new home?

Curtis: We might have.

Portia: [ Squeals ] Wow. Oh, baby.

Curtis: Baby.

Jordan: What does it take for a girl to get a drink around here?

Curtis: Jordan.

Jordan: Hello, Curtis. Portia.

Portia: [ Chuckles ]

Britt: Nina, hi.

Nina: Hi. I’m so sorry to surprise you like this.

Britt: No, it’s fine. Is everything okay?

Nina: No, I’m just so damn tired of Carly painting me as this home-wrecking schemer, you know? And everyone’s just standing in line, taking her side. And yes, I’m not blameless. I’m not saying that. I am human. But she’s the one who rejected Sonny and sh– the divorce — it’s on her. It’s not on sonny. And it’s certainly, Britt, not on me.[ Exhales deeply ]

Britt: Feel better?

Nina: A little. Thanks. I just — I guess I needed to just say that out loud, and… I know that you’ve been on the receiving end of Carly’s special blend of malice, so you can sympathize.

Britt: Mm, not really.

Anna: It’s not that I don’t trust you. It’s just that I don’t trust you. Why meet there of all places? Alright, I’m on my way. But listen, if this is a trap, one of us will regret it, and it won’t be me.

Maxie: Your friendship means a lot to me.

Austin: Okay, how much?

Maxie: Like, on a scale from one to 10?

Austin: Sure.

Maxie: [ Scoffs ]

Austin: There was a time not long ago, Maxie, when you and I talked about being more than just friends.

Maxie: I remember.

Austin: But you said that you wanted to focus on getting your then-Louise now-Bailey-Louise back.

Austin: Right. So what are you gonna focus on now?

Elizabeth: Betsy. I wasn’t expecting you.

Betsy: There’s something I need to — uh, I-I-I thought you’d be alone.

Elizabeth: Betsy, wait. You’re clearly here for a reason. Just tell me what it is.

Betsy: I wasn’t honest with you before. You deserve the truth, Elizabeth. All of it.

Finn: The truth about what?

Betsy: You’re the doctor, right?

Elizabeth: Yes, this is Dr. Hamilton Finn. He’s a friend of mine. But you already know that.

Betsy: I guess I do.

Elizabeth: You said I deserve to know the truth.

Betsy: About what? About…[ Gasps ]

Elizabeth: Betsy?

Betsy: It’s, uh… about why I’m here and what I’ve done.

Austin: I shouldn’t have done that.

Maxie: Um, I’m the one that kissed you.

Austin: Uh, yes, you did. That’s true. You did.

Maxie: Should I not have?

Austin: N– oh, Maxie, I’ve wanted us to kiss since… I mean, I-I can’t pinpoint the exact moment, but for quite a while now.

Maxie: What stopped you?

Austin: Well, when we first met, you were under extreme duress from the life that you had before we met. And then you were holding vigil for your lost daughter, even though she was hiding in plain sight from your psycho ex.

Maxie: Right. And you were comforting me.

Austin: I tried. And then I felt really guilty that I accidentally told Victor something that helped him and… I don’t know, and then… after your nut-job ex was no longer a threat —

Maxie: oh, no. I think the word you’re looking for is “dead.”

Austin: Yes, he’s dead.

Maxie: Um, why didn’t you kiss me then?

Austin: When Peter died? You were in Europe.

Maxie: After I got back.

Austin: Well… I-I just thought you — I don’t know. You might want a little space to process things.

Maxie: Okay, wait. So are you not trying to rush things or you want to respect my feelings?

Austin: I do. You say that like it’s a bad thing.

Maxie: No, no, it’s not. Not at all. If that’s really the reason.

Austin: What other reason could there be?

Maxie: Maybe you’re having second thoughts?

Curtis: I knew you were coming back soon. How about giving a guy a heads up?

Jordan: Ever since I got the okay from my doctors, all I’ve been focusing on is getting back.

Curtis: Does TJ know?

Jordan: Yes, he knows. I haven’t seen him yet. I went straight to G.H., But he was still in surgery.

Curtis: Okay.

Portia: Well, isn’t that doctors for you? Always inconsiderate of other people’s time.

Jordan: I know, right? What’s wrong with all of you? It’s good to see you, Portia.

Portia: Mm, it’s good to see you, too, Jordan. And since I’m a doctor, I can’t help but ask you, how’s the recovery going?

Jordan: So long as I don’t inhale a basement full of carbon monoxide again, I’m good to go.

Portia: Yeah. [ Chuckles ] Once was good enough for me, too. I just have to say that you look absolutely wonderful.
Jordan: Thank you. I feel good. Anyway, I didn’t mean to interrupt. I’ll catch up with you both some other time.

Curtis: Oh, please, please, you know better than that. Have a seat.

Portia: Uh, I’m meeting TJ and Stella for dinner, and I thought — well… never mind what I thought. You’re busy, so I’ll catch you later.

Curtis: Jordan, wait. Jordan, wait.

Nina: Are you on Carly’s side?

Britt: Absolutely not.

Nina: Well, I didn’t think so, Britt. I mean, clearly I was distracted when I was in Nixon Falls with everything that was going on, but I got the impression that you had a real connection with Jason. And then all of a sudden, Carly swoops in and the next thing you know, he’s marrying her.

Britt: Yeah. [ Scoffs ] That happened because Carly and Jason thought Sonny was dead. And that happened because of you. Look, I-I’m not judging you, okay? I’ve done more than my share of scheming. I’ve told lies that are arguably just as damaging. Besides, we’re family. That promise we made on Nathan’s grave is one I want to keep. So if anyone’s coming for you, Nina, I have your back.

Nina: Thank you.

Britt: But as family, I feel justified to call B.S. When I’m hearing it. A-and maybe you didn’t set out to wreck Carly’s marriage. But that is what you did. And there was bound to be fallout.

Anna: What is this about? Look, whatever game you’re playing, I have had enough drama recently to last me a lifetime, so whatever game this is, just count me out, okay?

Dr. Obrecht: I’m sorry, Anna. I’m afraid you’re “all in” now. Up to your pretty little neck.

Elizabeth: Okay, betsy, what have you done?

Betsy: Are these yours?

Elizabeth: No, they’re my son’s. Jake’s.

Betsy: The artistic one. Bobby wrote me all about him. He was so proud of Jake. Maybe Jake will grow up to be as talented as Bobby was.

Elizabeth: You were just about to tell us what you’ve done.

[ Doorbell rings ]

Elizabeth: Excuse me. Oh, hi. Perfect timing. Come in. Um, you guys remember Betsy.

Dante: Yeah.

Elizabeth: She was just about to tell us what she did and why she did it.

Dante: I think we know why.

Austin: No, I-I’m not having second thoughts, Maxie. I’m having a thought and then, like, another thought and then another thought. And another thought. I’m thinking that to respect someone’s boundaries is a really nice thing to do.

Maxie: Boundaries.

Austin: Yeah. I figure you might want a little space and time after a solid year of fear and doubt.

Maxie: Yeah, you’re right. Space and time and boundaries — those are all usually really good things.

Austin: Okay. But not this time?

Maxie: Peter kept me in a cage for a year, confined by his obsession. At long last, he’s finally gone, and I can do things that make me happy without worrying that they’re gonna jeopardize my children. So, no, I don’t think I need boundaries. I’m ready to make up for lost time. Are you?

Portia: If you two need to talk, I can step out. I can check my email.

Jordan: Why would you need to step out?

Curtis: No, Portia, you should stay. Um, Jordan, I didn’t want you to hear this from someone else.

Jordan: You’ve been house hunting together. I didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but I overheard something about a double-sided fireplace and a nice big room for Trina.

Portia: [ Chuckles ]

Jordan: Sounds ideal.

Portia: It’s a little early to get our hearts set on it or anything. We haven’t even called the agent yet.

Curtis: No, we, uh — we should move fast.

Jordan: Then do that. An opportunity like this, you don’t want to wait.

Portia: You know, Jordan, once you’re all settled in and everything, let’s get together. We can grab some lunch or something like that.

Jordan: Absolutely. Maybe you can do me a favor.

Portia: Yeah, name it.

Jordan: Laura gave me a mini briefing on all the criminal activity going on during my convalescence. Maybe you two can catch me up on what the law-abiding citizens have been doing.

Nina: You’re right. I fell in love with a married man. It was a mistake, but I can’t be the only person in the whole world that that’s ever happened to, Britt. And Carly, she just insisted on this divorce. She rammed it through practically overnight.

Britt: Okay, correct me if I’m wrong, but that was after she found you and Sonny in bed together.

Nina: We thought the marriage was over.

Britt: Convenient.

Nina: Britt, I didn’t go to the haunted star intending to sleep with Sonny. It’s just all these feelings that we had been fighting for — for months we couldn’t fight anymore. I’m sorry that I hurt Carly, but I am a good grandmother, and I sure as hell don’t think it should cost me my grandson.

Britt: What does this have to do with Wiley?

Nina: Willow just informed me that there’s no clear path in me seeing Wiley. They want to shut me out of my grandson’s life.

Elizabeth: Betsy, these are our friends Sam McCall and Dante Falconeri.

Betsy: Sam McCall. You’re married to that man who hates my son. Jason. Is he here?

Sam: Jason passed away.

Betsy: Oh. I’m sorry for your loss.

Sam: Thank you.

Finn: Do you know Dante as well?

Betsy: Yes. You’re the cop.

Dante: Yeah, that’s right.

Betsy: Am I in trouble?

Dante: Uh, no. Uh, nothing like that. I-I did notice you were checking out that portrait before. Do you like it?

Betsy: Like it? I love it. Bobby painted that.

Dante: Yeah, it, um — well, it was brought here, saved, really, from a fire in his studio. A lot of weird things, strange things have been happening with — with Elizabeth and Franco’s belongings.

Betsy: What strange things? What’s going on?

Dante: We were kind of hoping maybe you could tell us.

Betsy: Well, I don’t know anything. What could I tell you?

Dante: Well, um… maybe you could tell us why you were committed to a mental health facility recently.

Betsy: How do you know that? That’s private.

Dante: It was part of a police record.

Betsy: Oh, right. I-I guess it would be.

Dante: You were temporarily hospitalized so that you wouldn’t hurt yourself or someone else.

Leisl: I haven’t heard from you since your return from Switzerland. Mein Mutterland. Trittst im Morgenrot daher Seh’ich dich im Strahlenmeer

Anna: I don’t know what’s happening.

Leisl: It’s rude to interrupt the Schweizerpsalm.

Anna: Oh, okay. W-why do you think that you should have heard from me?

Leisl: Ah. I see.

Anna: What? See what?

Leisl: That our cathartic afternoon in the rage room bonding over our destructive power meant nothing to you.

Anna: Well, I wouldn’t say nothing.

Leisl: I mistakenly thought you and I had achieved a kind of breakthrough that day, that we might begin to put the past behind us.

Anna: Okay, sure. Yeah, I thought so, too. Why am I here?

Leisl: I should think that would be obvious.

Austin: Maxie, I’m all for making up for lost time.

Maxie: That’s great.

Austin: Okay.

Maxie: But?

Austin: But you were just chased into a European forest like you’re in some kind of Grimms’ fairy tale.

Maxie: I know what I went through, Austin. I lived it. That’s even more of a reason to put it behind me.

Austin: Right, but it would be okay if you didn’t want to rush into anything, if you wanted to take your time.

Maxie: Oh. Okay. I understand now.

Austin: Okay.

Maxie: You’re scared.

Portia: I’m not surprised that Trina’s going full-steam at PCU. But that gallery exhibit sounds amazing.

Portia: Oh, it was.

Curtis: Yeah. So, Jordan, I know you asked about law-abiding citizens, but, uh —

Jordan: I knew that would only last us so long. Who did what now?

Curtis: What have you heard about Sonny?

Jordan: Laura told me that he and Carly are over. But I didn’t get many details.

Curtis: Don’t worry, you will. Everybody’s talking about it.

Jordan: I also heard that Jason Morgan never came back from Greece.

Curtis: Missing, presumed dead. But that was after he rescued Britt Westbourne and Liesl Obrecht, of all people.

Jordan: Whatever his faults, we’ll call them, Jason was a remarkable person. There’s really no hope?

Curtis: Doesn’t look like any. I’m just glad he was able to rescue Drew.

Jordan: I’m happy for you, Curtis. I know you missed your friend.

Curtis: Yeah, it’s really good having him back.

Jordan: Question — why did I have to hear from TJ that your father finally resurfaced after all these years?

Curtis: Yeah. Well, when Marshall came back, I didn’t want to talk about him. Or to him. So I’m gradually getting used to having Marshall in my life. But, you know, it’s a process. Jordan: I can’t wait to meet him. So, are there any other secrets out there? Anything else I should know? A good cop likes to be prepared.

[ Cellphone chimes ]

Curtis: TJ?

Jordan: Yep. And I’m officially late. Again, good luck on the house. I know you’ll be happy there.

Curtis: Well, uh, that went well, don’t you think?

Nina: I’ve gone over and beyond trying to avoid a legal battle, but they’re leaving me no choice.

Britt: Well, are you sure about that? The more you escalate things, the more Michael and Willow are likely to come back at you twice as hard.

Nina: Oh, I get that, I get it. But it’s not just them. I-I admit my interactions with them are at an all-time low, but it’s also Carly. She doesn’t want me to have a relationship with Wiley at all. And she can dress it up as much as she wants. But it’s retaliation, plain and simple.

Britt: Okay, I’m gonna have to stop you right there, Nina. Not because what you’re saying is untrue, but because what I’m hearing you tell yourself is that you’re right and you are the victim and Carly’s wrong and she’s the bad guy. The more you lock into that kind of thinking, the less likelihood there will be of a compromise.

Nina: But I’ve tried to compromise, and I still don’t see my grandson.

Britt: And one more consideration — Sonny may be divorced, but you’re starting a war against his ex-wife and his son. That could put a real crimp in your romance.

Nina: So you think I shouldn’t go to court?

Britt: I think you need to be honest with yourself about what you can gain and what you stand to lose.

[ Cell Phone beeps ]

Britt: Excuse me. I have a patient.

Nina: Okay. Listen, thank you for talking to me. It’s not what I wanted to hear. But I needed to hear it.

Britt: Any time.

Anna: That was a very good shot.

Leisl: I know. I’ve been practicing.

Anna: Okay, so you still haven’t explained what this is about.

Leisl: I needed privacy to discuss a détente, a peace between us.

Anna: Really? Given our history? How do you think I’m gonna react?

Leisl: Yes, our overall history has been contentious and complex.

Anna: Mm-hmm. An understatement.

Leisl: But our recent history has been far more constructive and straightforward. You in the Northern Alps of mein Mutterland —

Anna: You’re not gonna sing again, are you?

Leisl: And I here in Port Charles, our mutual adopted home. Together, we were able to locate Maxie and bring her home safely to her daughter.

Anna: Well, a lot of people made that possible. But yes, you were one of them. Yes.

Leisl: I wish I could have been there when Peter met his end.

Anna: Oh. That was necessary. It’s not something I take any joy in.

Leisl: Of course you don’t. But I do.

Anna: Well, yes, I mean, you do have every right, given what he did to you.

Leisl: The person most entitled to see Peter suffer and die was Jason Morgan. Perhaps Jason can torment Peter in the afterlife, ja? [ Chuckles ]

Anna: You know, I’m forever in awe at what you consider to be “comforting thoughts.”

Leisl: But you understand it. And in your own way, you understand me. And I you.

Anna: What if we do?

Leisl: What do you say to a new beginning?

Elisabeth: Betsy, why didn’t you tell us you were admitted to a mental health clinic?

Betsy: Because it’s embarrassing.

Finn: No. You don’t have to be embarrassed.

Sam: Yeah, no one is here to judge you.

Finn: We just want to know the truth about why you came here.

Elizabeth: You were just about to tell us.

Betsy: Was I? I’m having trouble now.

Dante: Um, maybe I could ask you a few questions that will help get you back on track, yeah?

Betsy: Okay, I guess.

Dante: Okay. Do you, uh — do you want to have — have a seat?[ Clears throat ] You didn’t go to Franco’s grave today, did you?

Betsy: I wanted to, but I couldn’t. From the moment I heard Bobby was killed, I just couldn’t face up to it.

Elizabeth: It was a terrible loss for everyone who loved him.

Betsy: And you were one of those people. You loved him, stood by him, gave him hope. It was different with me.

Dante: Um, different how?

Betsy: I failed him just when he needed me most. And when I heard he was gone and I’d never get the chance to — never. [ Crying ]

Elizabeth: It’s okay. We understand.

Dante: You couldn’t bear losing Franco, so… you put it on Elizabeth?

Betsy: What? No. I didn’t. Cross my heart.

Austin: I’m not scared of you. Why would I be scared?

Maxie: Oh, come on, Austin. There’s a reason you were living in the middle of nowhere when we met.

Austin: Yeah, I was waiting for the right time to come to Port Charles.

Maxie: You could have done that at any point. You were hiding from the world. I basically dropped in out of the sky, in labor, no less. I was in a crisis. You needed to help me. We had this connection, but something was always getting in the way, namely havoc being wreaked by Peter.

Austin: Right. But not anymore.

Maxie: No. Now that Peter is dead…

Austin: yay.

Maxie: …We’re no longer in a crisis where everything we feel is being heightened. I want to know if our crisis feelings are really crisis feelings or if they’re real feelings. Don’t you?

Austin: Yeah, I do.

Curtis: Well, Jordan certainly seems to be in a good place.

Portia: She’s very supportive of us moving in together. Me and her ex-husband.

Curtis: You think she’s trying too hard?

Portia: I think she’s still in love with you. Not that I blame her. I know from experience you’re a hard man to get over.[ Chuckles ]

Curtis: Based on experience, right back at you.

Portia: The point is is that you are the type of man that comes along once in a lifetime. And for me, twice. And if I know that, Jordan knows it, too.

Cameron: Ms. Henry, it’s so good to see you.

Stella: Oh, it’s good to see you, too, Cameron.

Cameron: How are you feeling?

Stella: Fully recovered. And it’s very kind of you to ask.

Cameron: I’m very happy to hear that. Um, I don’t know if you remember, but I was at Kelly’s the day of your stroke.

Stella: You were? I-I’m sorry. My memory of that day is still a bit cloudy.

Cameron: It’s no problem. I-I’m just happy to hear that you’re — you’re feeling better.

Stella: Yes.

Cameron: Although I am very sorry about your envelope.

Stella: Envelope?

Cameron: I just hope it wasn’t too important.

Anna: If this was just about surviving Peter, then I would say yes to a new beginning, of course. But I — I can never forgive you for the hell you put Robin through.

Leisl: That was Cesar’s doing. My most heinous misdeeds were at his behest. Most of them, anyway. But that fact does not move you. Is that what you’re saying?

Anna: I don’t know. I mean, look. I understand a lot of damage can be done for loving someone that — when it’s not returned. I get that. I’ve seen it. And for you, it was Faison. For Peter, it was Maxie.

Leisl: For Cesar… it was you.

Anna: Right. I guess that’s something that we — we share, we have in common, that we’re free of that obsession now.

Leisl: Yeah. Thankfully, I shed mine and found real love with Scott.

Anna: Scott. Okay.

Leisl: Our pairing amuses you?

Anna: No, no, no, no. No, I’m very happy for you.

Leisl: For the woman who’s brought such pain and sorrow on you and those you love?

Anna: None of us are blameless, are we? It was Faison’s obsession with me that brought him to town and cost Nathan his life, right?

Leisl: Thank you for that. When it comes to my son’s death, there’s plenty of blame to go around.

Anna: Hey, look. I’m not sure that we can ever be, you know, friends. But I do think that maybe we should find a way to put our past behind us.

Finn: It’s okay, Mrs. Frank. You’ve been upset and confused.

Betsy: Have you ever gone crazy, Dr. Finn? Not upset and confused, but grief that hits you so hard, you just go all-out nuts?

Finn: Yeah, I have.

Betsy: It’s terrible, isn’t it?

Finn: Yeah.

Sam: Well, here’s a possible explanation, Betsy. Maybe you don’t remember taking Elizabeth’s wedding ring.

Betsy: What would I do with your wedding ring?

Dante: Do you have any recollection of cutting up her dress?

Betsy: Cutting up her dress?

Dante: Burning down Franco’s art studio?

Betsy: I would never.

Dante: And bringing that painting here?

Betsy: Of course not. I love my Bobby. I love his art. I would die before I let anything happen to his work.

Finn: You know Betsy, um… people handle grief differently. Some withdraw into a shell. Others act out.

Betsy: Which one did you do?

Finn: Well, I acted out. How about you?

Betsy: I’m a shell person.

Finn: Well, you know, if you ever need any help, we’re here.

Betsy: You’re being very nice and understanding, Dr. Finn. All of you are. But I couldn’t have done any of those things.

Sam: But why not?

Betsy: I’ve been under 24-hour surveillance at the clinic, and I wasn’t released until right before I came to Port Charles. I may not be in my right mind, but even I couldn’t be in two places at one time.

Austin: So don’t take this the wrong way.

Maxie: [ Chuckles ] Okay.

Austin: But there’s something very different about you since you’re back. You seem lighter, more buoyant. I like this Maxie Jones.

Maxie: You mean the Maxie Jones who likes to keep moving forward with no regrets? The one who doesn’t hide how I feel because there’s no reason to hide anymore? There’s no way you could have known this, but this is Maxie Jones, the real Maxie Jones.

Austin: Great. Why would I be scared of that?

Maxie: I heard it takes some getting used to.

Austin: What are you doing tonight?

Curtis: Jordan and I signed those divorce papers long before she got hurt and went away. I’ve moved on. And so has she.

Portia: I don’t doubt Jordan’s intentions, Curtis. I mean, if I were in her shoes, I would say all the right things just like she did. I might even believe them. But if there was a chance, even a long shot, I would never let you go.

Stella: I’m trying my best to recall.

Cameron: You had an envelope with you with papers inside it. You said that you were going to mail it. And that’s when you had your stroke.

Cameron: Thank you, Ms. Henry.

Stella: I need a mailbox.

Cameron: Yes, on the corner to the right.

Stella: I just gotta make — oh!

Cameron: A-are you okay?

Stella: Yeah, I-I’m fine. Though, for the life of me, I can’t remember what was in that envelope. Since I haven’t gotten any calls or e-mails asking for missing documents, I suppose whatever it was couldn’t be all that important.

Cameron: That’s a relief. I-I’ve just felt horrible ever since whatever was in it got soaked.

Stella: What did you say you did with the envelope?

Cameron: Well, in the midst of all the confusion, one of the waitresses threw it out. But I-I can’t help but feel that it was all my fault.

Leisl: How do we begin? It’s no small feat to outdistance one’s past.

Anna: Especially one as contentious and complex as ours.

Leisl: Ah. I’ve got it. We can join a book club. Together, we shall steamroll local armchair bibliophiles.

Anna: Those poor people.

Leisl: We can take turns choosing the books. Then we tell them what to think and devour their homemade snacks. Whoever brings crudités forfeits their life.

Anna: I like crudités.

Leisl: Why am I not surprised? I’m more of a charcuterie lass myself.

Anna: Oh, I like that, too.

Leisl: See? Just when we thought common ground would be impossible to find.

Dante: Uh, the director of the clinic says that Betsy was there from, uh, thanksgiving until she came here to Port Charles.

Finn: So obviously Betsy didn’t do anything to the ring or — or do anything to that dress.

Elizabeth: I guess you couldn’t have started that fire in Franco’s studio or taken that painting. Betsy, I am so sorry for thinking you did all those things.

Betsy: I don’t blame you. In your place, I would have suspected me, too. I should have been more open about how Bobby’s death hit me. If I could have just had a chance to say how sorry — how really sorry…

Elizabeth: Franco loved you. He knew you did your best. And if he were here right now, he would tell you you have nothing to apologize for.

Betsy: You really think so?

Elizabeth: Absolutely.

Betsy: Thank you, dear. I’m glad my son had somebody like you to love him. I should go. I have a bus to catch to get home.

Dante: Uh, we could give you a lift to the bus station.

Betsy: Thank you, Detective. I’ll call a rideshare. I’m really sorry you’re going through all this. Maybe it’s just a simple explanation.

Maxie: What do you think I’m doing tonight?

Austin: Well, I think this is the part where you say, “I’m going out with you tonight, austin.” But… I’m sensing a strong vibe that maybe that’s not what this part is.

Maxie: I’m gonna spend time with my daughter.

Austin: Okay.

Maxie: And her siblings.

Curtis: Well, we don’t want to lose out. We need to set up a tour with the broker and come in with a strong bid.

Curtis: Well, this is it. This next chapter is just the beginning.

Stella: Don’t give it a second thought. I made the mess, and someone did her job and cleaned it up.

Cameron: Well, I hope your experience doesn’t prevent you from coming to Kelly’s again. Oh, well, as a matter of fact, I’m on my way there right now to meet TJ and his mother. Jordan’s back in Port Charles, so we’re all getting together.

Cameron: That’s wonderful. I think I’m working there later tonight. In case I don’t see you, I’m gonna call one of the waitresses and tell her that dessert is on me.

Stella: Well, thank you. But you’ll do no such thing.

Cameron: Well, I would really like to treat you guys —

Stella: It’s a lovely gesture, but my dessert is not coming out of your paycheck. You’re gonna spend that money on your education.

Cameron: But the envelope —

Stella: Is gone. And that’s the end of that. Now, I don’t want to be late. And it was wonderful to see you, Cameron.

Cameron: It’s good to see you as well, Ms. Henry.

Finn: There’s no way she could have pulled any of this off.

Sam: None. Betsy is barely holding it together.

Dante: Sure seems like she’s suffered enough.

Elizabeth: Well, thank you both for your help.

Dante: I wish we could have helped actually find the person who’s been harassing you.

Elizabeth: Yeah, well, I’m at a complete loss.

Sam: Okay, well, if it wasn’t Betsy, then who was it?

[ Chuckles ] Jury’s still out. See you later. What was that? What do you have on victor? So you’re telling methere’s nothing to clue us in as to who could have sent agent krieger to kill peter. I think it’s significant. Krieger’s death. You know, he was hit, yes, and it was serious, but nobody thought it was fatal. The prognosis was that he was going to recover, and then he up and dies here in the hospital? Convenient for somebody.

[ Knock on door ] Very. How’s the patient? Are you ready to get out of here? The sooner, the better. There’s a loose end from europe. Yeah, I was just explaining that a bureau agent who went after peter, he ended up being in an exchange of gunfire with my team. And he got hit, and he just died before he could be interrogated. Oh. He had a phone on him, though. Anything there? I mean, no. Most of the data was just related to navigation. There was one phone number that piqued my interest. Belonging to? It was a burner, unfortunately. But the area code was local. Local to here you mean? Yes. So whoever this agent was communicating with was likely here in port charles. Is anybody thinking who I’m thinking? Look, anna, can you hand me my clothes? I’m not waiting for the nurses anymore. I-I got to get down to the precinct. I-I don’t know that that’s — oh, no, you don’T. If you think you’re going anywhere other than home, you have to answer to me first. I just got a job offer from your boy drew. Did you? Mm-hmm. What kind of job? Oh, a jazz consultant/concierge for aurora. But you knew that already, didn’t you? Didn’t you?

[ Clears throat ]

[ Chuckles ] Despite the subterfuge, I appreciate you sending work my way. But why couldn’t you just be honest? Like you’ve been with me? Oh, oh, so wait, wait, wait. This is payback? No. This is an opportunity. One that I knew you would have turned down if you knew I had a hand in it because — because you’re stubborn and you’re prideful. Traits I passed down to my son. Fair enough. But I know that you operate on a need to know basis, so you can’t be mad when someone does the same thing. Well, yes, but it’s a moot point anyway. The job requires this extensive background check. And that’s a problem? It could be. Could be. I have this incident from back in the day that concerns me. Uh, you are not going to ask me what kind of incident? No, I’ll wait for you to tell me. Ah. Or not. That’s progress. If I accept this offer, drew might discover that I have a criminal history.

Look, I have no idea what’s going on right now. Um, mom’s a little bit weirded out with this whole portrait thing, but, um… she’s also relieved that peter august is toast. Wait, what? Mom didn’t tell you? Tell me what? I don’t want you giving jake the third degree. Third degree? I just asked if he noticed anything. Well, it kind of felt like you were insinuating that he had something to do with the portrait. No, I’m not suggesting that. Elizabeth, do you really think I’m accusing your sons? Or are you actually worried that they could be involved? It is so creepy to have a portrait in your house knowing that someone had been there and then the ring and the dress. Ugh. Yeah, elizabeth is pretty shaken up. Well, what are you thinking? Honestly, it sounds like it could be a jealous lover. Do you think franco was cheating? No. I don’t know. I mean, you can’t rule anything out, can you? Right. I mean, I-I honestly barely knew the guy. I didn’t pay him much attention at all. So w-what’s your take? Y-you think I paid attention to franco? No, I don’t know, but I mean, you were friends with elizabeth or you’ve gotten closer. So maybe you know about some trouble in paradise. I don’t know. In my opinion, the only thing I saw was franco was devoted to elizabeth, elizabeth was devoted to him. Their kids loved him. He loved the kids. They were one big, happy family. Right. So I guess I better look through franco’s cellphone records, see if there’s anyone he was in consistent communication with. Did you float this by elizabeth? Not yet. Well, does she have any idea? Ideas? She’s — she’s convinced. Okay, well, who does she think’s responsible? Betsy frank. I am really glad that you’re back. Oh. Which I know is a strange thing coming from me, considering we’re not close.

[ Chuckles ] But I can see how much you mean to curtis. And I-it’s just so sweet, the friendship that you two share. Yeah, I am… I am very thankful for it, I really am. Especially considering I’ve now lost both my brothers. I’m so sorry. Yeah, thanks. You know, when you think about it, you and curtis have gone through so much change recently. I mean, you — I could write a book about that. Yeah, please don’T. No.

[ Both laugh ] But curtis, too. Yeah. Just this past year, his — his aunt’s health issues, a divorce, a change of careers. And a father reappearing after four decades. You have a criminal history that drew may discover. My arrest record was sealed. Sealed records don’t usually show up in standard background checks. But it exists, which means they can resurface. Oh, man. 40 years ago. I got locked up briefly, nonviolent offense, but it was the inciting incident that precipitated my disappearance. The reason you went into hiding. Yeah, for lack of a better term, yes. God, curtis, I wish… I-I wish I could forget it ever happened. But it did, and it severely impacted my life. Look, I told — I told drew I-I can’t move forward with it anyway, so forget about it. Did you even want the job? Yeah, I do. I do. But I wanted you to hear about it from me, not your friend. Well, I appreciate that. I hope that means you trust me. Of course I do. Curtis, my holding back is not for a lack of trust. In fact — in fact, telling you is a relief. thank you for coming in here to talk to me. When it comes to people like victor cassadine, the walls have ears. Okay, what was laura saying about you getting information on victor? Oh, it wasn’t enough. I mean, he destroyed the bug before we could hear anything valuable. Whoa, hold on. You planted a bug on victor cassadine? Well, technically liesl did. But, yeah, I mean, I set the stage. You look confused. Are you confused? You and my former mother-in-law concocted a plan to trap victor? So you’re not confused. How did that — I mean, what were y– why? Well, the answer to that is twofold. Um, first off, liesl didn’t really give me choice. And the second part?

[ Sighs ] I really wanted to make it up to you. It was entirely my fault that victor found out about louise. Sorry, bailey louise. And I just needed to know what his game was. But you didn’t find anything. The bug bit the dust before we heard anything. I mean, all we really heard was victor talking to drew cain about memory suppression and tarot cards. Is that important? I don’t know. The mayor seemed to think so. -How are you feeling? -How did you get here? I would have sent you a squad car. Oh, we could have done better than a squad car. I left yesterday. I took a car service, and I feel great. You look great. Being at the clinic for so long had its challenges, but I can’t argue with the level of care. So you’re back for good now? And apparently need to get caught up. Let’s step outside. It’s really good to see you’ve recovered. Now it’s your turn.

[ All chuckle ] Come on, let’s go. The discharge nurse gave me the papers. You ready to go home? Oh, I was born ready. To leave a hospital? Yeah, that really doesn’t work, does it?

[ Laughs ] No, it doesn’T.

[ Axe thuds ] So, betsy told elizabeth that she was at franco’s grave around the time the break-in happened. Did your question her? I tried. I called her hotel. But she wasn’t there. What about an apb? Betsy is technically A…person of interest. Right, the problem is elizabeth is worried that betsy is involving her kids, and she thinks a formal inquiry will kind of blow back on the family. Got it. Listen, I’m not — I’m not — hey. What? I-I’m not convinced that it’s betsy. But elizabeth is. Well, yeah, because the alternative for elizabeth is that she has to entertain the fact that there could have been another woman in the mix. Betsy’s pretty scary. Oh, yeah, she’s scary, she’s crazy, all of that. But, you know, and I will look into it, but, uh… I mean, how obsessed with your own kid do you have to be to shred a wedding dress and burn his art studio? I would have to say pretty obsessed. Right. So

I better retracebetsy’s steps to find out if she was actually at the cemetery when she said she was. What are you doing? I’ve got skills, too. Just not throwing axes. Hey. Spinelli. Yeah, I’m gonna need your help. My boys wouldn’t terrorize me this way. They adored franco. They would never use his memory to punish me. I agree. So you’re being defensive because you feel I shouldn’t be questioning them at all? Because I just want you to be safe, but if I am overstepping, you say the word and I will back off. Hey, say something. I’m glad. I mean, is that wrong, to be glad when someone dies? Not if that someone is peter august. He took franco away from us. Made everyone believe my dad killed him. Including me. Which made things pretty crappy between us. I wish peter had died sooner. Before your dad died fighting him. I wish that, too, jake. I know I’m not an ideal father, curtis. Ideal for who? Anyone. I’m talking specifically you. Marshall, I’m a grown man, okay? It’s not your job to live up to some boyhood fantasy. If you trust me and you feel a sense of relief to — to unburden yourself, then why not fill in all the pieces of the puzzle? Because it may not be safe to do that yet.

you’re under no obligation to bare your soul to me. Marshall, if you’re harboring any secrets that could put people in danger, either in my club or in my home, I need to know. I will not put portia and trina at risk. Wait. Wait. Wait a minute. Since when did portia become a fixture in your home? Since I, um… I asked her to take the next step with me. So are you doing what I’m doing? What’s that? Well, I’m giving him a little space so that he can make his own conclusions. But at the same time, I’m kind of keeping a cautious eye out. You must have been spying on me.

[ Chuckles ] Yeah. Yeah. I mean, obviously, I — I pray that marshall’s intentions are good, but just in case there’s any doubt, I’m at my buddy’s disposal. I love that you have curtis’ back. Always. You know what? To long friendships. Yeah, and to new ones. I really look forward to getting to know the woman that clearly has stolen my buddy’s heart.

I don’t know, laura. I mean, if this runs as deep as we suspect, we’re gonna need as much help as we can get as quickly as we can get it. Well, then, uh, barring a few small but necessary formalities, I hereby reinstate you as commissioner of the pcpd. Welcome back.

[ Laughs ] You won’t regret it. I know that. I know what we have is new, and we haven’t established who I am to your boys. But I’d like to build something with them. If that’s okay with you. We were hoping the bag could tie a guy to a crime. We’re in there, right, and we’re looking for it, and we come across this enormous rodent. No. Yes! No. Yes, curtis freaked out. You shouldn’t seen him. I’ve never seen somebody jump so high, so fast in my entire life. Mnh-mnh. His exact words were, “no, no, no, I don’t do rats.”

[ Laughs ] Just like that. I can see him doing that. How indiana jones of him. Right? Wasn’t it? Really was actually. Oh, gosh. Wow. You guys have really had some adventures together. We have. We have. And I hear he’s about to embark on a new one with you. He told me you guys are moving in together. We’re looking at properties. That’s awesome.

I know it must have been really difficult for you, especially having to leave bailey behind. Oh, that was the easiest decision that I made, actually. Believe it or not, I’m used to leaving bailey behind, especially if it means she’s protected, which is funny considering now I can’t seem to let her out of my sight. Well, now you don’t have to. Thank god. Right. Okay, that was the easy part. What was the hard part? Staring down the barrel of forever, alone with peter, not being able to see the people that I care about anymore. That really made my blood run cold. I can imagine. A life without your mom, without mac. Anna, britt, liesl. You. I made the list. Look, whatever peter’s involvement was with victor, it wasn’t your fault, austin. I know that you only wanted the best for me. I still only want the best for you, maxie. I know. Oh, a 72-hour involuntary psychiatric hold. Oh, that’s pretty good, P.I. Yeah, well, you know, I have my moments. Do you know what this means? Yeah. Betsy was considered an immediate danger to herself and others. I want to be here for all of you. But I agree with you, jake. Franco shouldn’t be forgotten, and he won’t be. Can I go upstairs? And killed my brother. Yeah. So yeah, I’m — I’m glad he’s dead. And I feel…I don’t know. I feel kind of free. And now that I do, I’M… thinking about my future. Sorry I missed the staff meeting. How’d it go? It was great. How are the kids? Oh, they’re good. That’s not why I was late. Um… I was late because I went to file my divorce papers. Already? Already. Honey, how do you feel? Like a failure. Did you forget something?

[ Exhales deeply ] You are an absolute lifesaver. I have a huge exam to study for, and all of my notes are on this. I-I figured. What’s going on?

[ Down-tempo music plays ] Um, my mom called. She filed the papers, so the divorce is in motion. She just wanted me to be prepared for questions from donna and avery and help them transition, so… I am so sorry that you r familyis going through this, michael. I like phyllis, too. Yeah. She’s great. She always knows the perfect thing to say, and I really needed that today. Well, then it’s a good thing that we came to charlie’S. So, what’s on your mind, nina? What “strange things” have been happening to elizabeth? Well, there was A… fire at franco’s art studio. The police think it was arson. Really? Really. And then, you know, the night of our first date, uh, elizabeth found her wedding ring in her locker at work, which was a little bizarre, because she had left it at home. And then — there’s more? Yeah, there’s more. She was gonna donate some clothing, and she discovered the dress she wore when she married franco had been completely cut to shreds. It’s suspicious that everything had significance to franco. Yeah, it is. You know, we thought maybe one of the boys was having a problem with, you know, me seeing their mom. Those are…sophisticated pranks for kids. Agreed. Then again, these boys aren’t little kids anymore.

[ Dramatic music plays ]

[ Gasps ]

Cameron. Mom, I am so sorry. I did not mean to startle you. Are you okay? I’m — I’m sorry. I didn’t hear you come in. I just… I was so distracted… by the portrait. Wait. T-that’S… that’s the portrait of you that franco painted. I-I thought it was destroyed in the fire. So did I. But when I walked in, it was just — it was just here. I never thought I would see it again. Hold on. You — you didn’t put it there? No. No. Was it here when you got home? Yeah. But that was like 10 minutes ago. I crashed at carter’s dorm room. Mom, what’s going on? I’m not sure. Aiden spent the night at laura’s last night, a-and jake is on an overnight trip with the school, so I slept at the hospital. As far as I know, nobody’s even been home for the past 24 hours, which means whoever put that there was… in our house. I need to check on the boys and make sure they’re okay and where they’re supposed to be. Mom, what should I do? Call the police. Chase: Okay. Whoever’s doing this had access to elizabeth’s wedding ring, which means they also had access to her house and knew where her locker was at general hospital. Do you remember what day it was, or if her locker showed any signs of being tampered with? Because we can check the footage at general hospital — whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down. I’m not even sure elizabeth wants you to know about this. Well, then what are we gonna do about it? Okay. You’re my brother, so I told you. But I think we need to wait and see what elizabeth wants to do about it. How much longer until you’re reinstated, anyway? A few months. [ Exhales deeply ] I can’t wait. Any idea what you’re gonna do in the meantime? I haven’t given it much thought. But don’t — don’t worry about me. I’ll — I’ll be fine. Remember how I told you I ran into nina the other night at the hospital? The night that I found out about her and my dad? Yes. She made a point of asking if there was a way for her to see wiley, even if she and carly could never get along. And I’m guessing she skipped past the part where my mom had just found her and my dad in bed together. She played me, michael. She intentionally held back about what she’d done, knowing full well something that monumental would have ramifications for our whole family and, of course, affect her relationship with wiley. Look, you know how I feel about nina, but my dad does not get a pass. He’s just as much to blame. It is a pattern with nina. She — she reaches out, makes a pitch for access to wiley, and carefully omits whatever objectionable things she’s done. I-I don’t want to keep wiley from family members who love him, but I think you were right all along. Nina…is not the type of person I want in wiley’s life. I know exactly what I want, ’cause I’m starving. Can I get you something? No, thank you. I’m good. Auntie, would you please get me a double order of what you’re having?

[ Chuckles ] Coming right up. Wow.

[ Laughs ] Okay. She won’t be gone long. You better talk fast. What is going on with you and does it have to do with sonny? Wow. That was a quick change of subject. Come on, nina. The last time I saw you was at the savoy, and you defused tensions between sonny and my father. Yeah. He wasn’t himself that night. Yeah. I kind of came to that conclusion myself. But your dad — I’ve never seen anyone stand up to sonny like that. Apparently, it’s not his first time dealing with a man of sonny’s caliber. Interesting. How do you feel about that? Nice deflection, nina. I just accepted it. And I accepted the fact that I’m never gonna get the answers that I want from marshall, so I let it go. And it definitely eased tensions between my father and me. But then things changed.

[ Sighs ] Olivia: It’s 5:00 somewhere.

[ Chuckles ] I know I made the right decision. It’s just hitting me really hard. Of course it is — ’cause you’re not a robot. Want to talk about it? No. I-I think I should just work. No. No, no, no, no. No, honey. Honey, forget work. Just lay it on me, okay? What — what is the strongest emotion you’re feeling right now? Disappointment. I mean, obviously in sonny, but in myself because I just want to be done with it. Yeah. I want so badly not to care. And I keep asking myself over and over again, “what happened?” I mean, how could my marriage be over? How could I mean so little to sonny in the end? I… but then I know I have to stop myself because whatever sonny does or however sonny feels, it’s not my problem anymore. I am considering a leadership position at aurora, taking a more active role. And I know that you hired michael to head up digital. He’s doing a great job, right? Those numbers are solid. So I don’t want to step on what he’s doing, but…I do have ideas of where the company should go. You don’t need my approval. You realize that you still own the company? And now that jax has divested due to conflict of interest, you can implement anything you want.

[ Cellphone beeps ] I say go for it. All right. You know what? Um… great. I have — I have another appointment. I have to run. Okay. And you have my full support. Hey. So, are we doing this? Oh. Did something happen to sourthings between you and your dad? I thought you were making progress with marshall. We were. Where’s the food? It’s coming. You were saying? Well, you know, um, portia and i are moving in together, and so the equation has changed. Well, that’s great news! I’m glad things are working out for you. Thanks. They are, you know, but, um, with my situation changing, I just need to know more about my father’s past. I thought you had made your peace with that. You know, I was keeping an open mind. I mean, marshall, of his own admission, said that he got mixed up with some dangerous people. So now that portia is gonna be living with me, I need to know that I am not putting her life at risk. So if I’m gonna let marshall in my life, I need to know more about his. Give him time. It’s not dependent on marshall anymore. Drew is helping me find out what marshall’s been hiding.

Curtis told me that you had been presumed dead for two years but you had really been captured by this august guy you just took down. Sad but true. Yes. Yeah. I’ve been doing some reading about you online. I know you’re a member of the quartermaine family and also about your twin brother who died. You did your homework. Oh, yes. Oh, yes. I, uh, always like to know about the people I’m potentially doing business with. I hope — I hope that doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable. No, no. Not at all. I feel exactly the same way. Are you and the boys okay? Yes. Nobody was home. Good. That’s good. Uh, was anything taken? I-I don’t know. I haven’t even had a chance to look. Do you remember I told you about that painting franco did of me? Yeah. Yeah. You were sorry ’cause you didn’t bring it home and it got — it got destroyed in the — the fire at his studio. Except it didn’T. Somehow, that painting survived. And whoever broke in placed it front and center in my house. Cameron: Hey, mom. They’re here. I have to go. The police are here. Okay. I’m on my way. I’m on my way. What happened? Someone broke into elizabeth’s house. Hang on. I’m coming with you. No. Uh, you showing up at a crime scene while you’re on — on suspension may not be a good look. Damn it. Well, you — you got to call me and you keep me posted on everything. Absolutely. Be good. I am all for keeping nina away from wiley, especially now. But I don’t know.Something tells me that we — we should take our time, you know, look at the situation from all angles so we know that emotion isn’t driving our decision. The bottom line is we both want what’s best for wiley. Well, I’m glad I talked to you about this. Look, I’m — I’m really angry with nina right now for a variety of reasons, but we don’t know what will happen in the future, right? Carly and sonny could reconcile.

[ Scoffs ] I mean, I love your optimism, but I wouldn’t hold your breath. Hey, I thought chase would never forgive me after he found out about us, but we found a way past the pain and…betrayal, and he found a way to forgive me — at least until I kind of blew everything up again. I think you mean “we.”

[ Sighs ] We — we judged brook lynn and chase for sleeping together when the whole time, they were actually trying to protect maxie’s baby. Okay. We definitely owe them an apology. I especially owe one to brook lynn. Hey, actually, you know what? Why — why don’t we, uh — why don’t we stop by there tonight? Can you pull yourself away from… I can’T. I have a big exam tomorrow. There’s a hidden key out front, but only the boys and i know about it. Of course, franco knew. Well, I guess whoever broke in could’ve used that one. This painting — you’re sure that it was at franco’s studio at the time of the fire? Yes. I hadn’t moved it. Well, then it sure seems like on the surface that whoever this arsonist is is the same person who broke into your house. Oh, my god.

[ Down-tempo music plays ] I think I know who did this. I want to expand into the jazz arena. With aurora’s reach, I-I really believe that we can help talented artists connect with their audiences. But I got to confess — I… I mean, I’m not even a novice. I know — I know little to nothing about jazz at all. So I need expert advice. I need…a consultant or a concierge, if you will — somebody who really has a feeling for the music and the history and — and where it’s evolving. Sounds like I’m your man. I need your experience is what I need. Exactly. Good. Let’s talk about you and your background. Have you always strictly been a gig musician? It’s how I made the majority of my money. But, you know, that life is feast or famine, so from time to time, I had to take a variety of jobs in order to pay the bills. What about now? Oh, man. That speaks volumes for — for how dangerous the folks that he’s running from are. Portia knows everything about your father that you know, and she’s still in. Give her credit for making her own choices. Okay. But what about trina? I don’t want to gamble with her safety. I-I-I pulled her out of danger one time, and I don’t want to put her back in it again. I need complete answers. I understand that, curtis. I’m just worried you’re going about it in the wrong way. Instead of you and drew sneaking around into marshall’s past like spies, why don’t you just do like I’ve suggested and talk to him? Auntie, I have tried repeatedly. It’s — with marshall, it’s always a dead end. Now, he’s made it abundantly clear that he’s only gonna tell me so much. Now, I know you have your opinions, aunt stella, but could you please trust that I know what I’m doing? You remember when I interfered with you and portia’s relationship? How could I forget? I stuck my nose in where it didn’t belong, and trina was hurt as a result. You keep poking around behind marshall’s back, and someone could get hurt. And I’m afraid that someone could be you.

[ Knock on door ] Michael. Uh, brook lynn’s not here. Um, can I come in? Sure. Uh… well, I was kind of hoping to talk to the both of you. Do you — will she be back soon? Brook lynn’s in bensonhurst, visiting her mother. It’s been rough on her, giving bailey back to maxie. She needed to decompress. That’s got to hurt like hell. Look, I’m, uh — I’m packing up my things, and you and I are far from friends right now, so whatever it is you want to talk about, can it wait? I’m afraid not.

I-I can’t talk about this right now. Because I’m really missing my — my grandson. I know you have to discuss it with michael, but I was wondering if you could give me any indication how he’s feeling. I am astounded that you would ask me about wiley, given the situation with michael’s parents. I’m sorry that carly and sonny weren’t able to work things out. You went after a married man like a heat-seeking missile, and you don’t see why michael and i would have a problem with that? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that you found out. Listen, willow. [ Sighs ] Do — do you keep a running tally of how many times you use that phrase? I’m just curious. How many lives have been damaged or ruined by things you never intended? How the hell can you ask me to advocate for you when I don’t believe a word you say?

This is a job interview, marshall. Yeah, right. And you’re only doing it because curtis asked you to help me out. Or do you really expect me to believe you’d hire a musician you don’t even know in order to be your “jazz concierge”? I’m nobody’s charity case, my man — least of all my son’S. This interview is over. Marshall, just… hear me out. I…came to apologize. For what? Look, I-I had no right coming down so hard on you about brook lynn and bailey. And… so I’m — I’m sorry. [ Sighs ] You loved bailey, too, and I can only imagine what you must be going through right now, having to let her go. So wouldn’t you feel a little bit better just — just unloading? I mean, you took heat from a lot of people, m-m-myself included. You got suspended from the pcpd while you were just trying to protect that little girl. Look, you were doing a good thing, and I had no right to judge. So I just wanted — you had zero right. You acted like me sleeping with brook lynn — which did not happen, by the way — was on par with what you and willow did to me. Michael, you slept with my wife! And then you had the nerve to lay into me because I hurt her feelings? Cut the crap. The real reason you are here is to absolve your own guilt. It is selfish… and it’s self-righteous. You feel better? Actually, yeah. Yeah, I do. You have a suspect? Betsy frank. Franco’s mother? Mm-hmm. Did you tell him about the other incidents? Yes. So what — what evidence do you have that points to betsy? Well, she sent me a valentine’s card. It was, um, very gothic, almost, uh, morbid. And so I called her today, and it turns out she’s in town, visiting franco’s grave. It’s a little too convenient. Don’t you think? She claims she just got here, but she could have been here for months. Right. Well, I’d like to see that card. But w-what were you and betsy talking about? She told me that she was here visiting franco’s grave and that she likes to pretend like he’s still alive. And she also knows that I’m dating finn because she follows me on social media, which makes me wonder if that just pushed her over the edge. Listen, I don’t know this woman at all, but for her to go to these lengths seems kind of extreme. Yeah. Betsy’s not all there on a good day. And now she’s grieving. People can be pushed to do desperate things while they’re grieving. Nina: Where is this even coming from? I thought we had a cordial conversation the other day. So did I. But I’ve realized it’s just part of your pattern, nina. Every time I think we’ve made headway, I find out that you’ve held back information or just plain lied by omission. Well, what happened between me and sonny wasn’t anyone else’s business. Then why go out of the way to drop hints that things between you and carly were irreconcilable?

[ Down-tempo music plays ] This isn’t the first time you’ve thrown me under the bus, but it’s the last. If you’re going to create discord between michael’s parents and then turn around and make nice to me while withholding that information, I’m going to feel used, played. And trust me, I will resent it. I am not trying to play you at all. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. I am so appreciative that you’ve been trying to be my ally. I am not your ally, nina. I am wiley’s mother. And until he’s old enough, it is my job to decide what is best for him, and that includes vetting the people he spends time with. Wiley — he’s my family. He’s my grandson. He’s the only thing that I have left of my daughter. He’s my blood. Blood doesn’t entitle you to have a relationship with someone. Not if you’re going to hurt them.

You should just trustthat marshall knows what’s safe and what’s not safe. He’s the one that’s lived his life. He’s in a much better position to judge than you are. I want to know and trust my father, but I can’t do that when he’s so closed off. Well, he needs to trust you, too, curtis. Give the relationship time to grow. Put in the work. Maybe then marshall will disclose the things that you want to know. But mark my words, baby. If you sneak around in his private business, there will be no chance of that happening. Curtis did ask me to interview you for this job. And I was happy to oblige because I need a jazz musician, and he thought you’d be a really good fit. I agreed, and so… I mean, I don’t know. Is it so terrible your son’s just trying to help you out?

[ Sighs ] You know, I… I suppose not. Look, if my friendship with curtis complicates things at all, feel free to walk away. For sure — no harm, no foul whatsoever. I just got to look elsewhere, I guess. I don’t want to be hasty. The job does sound interesting. Okay, good. Look. If we are gonna work together, I do have to tell you our company’s hr policies. Aurora has got contracts with the government, and due to their sensitive nature, I have liaison with intelligence agencies to do in-depth background checks just as a precaution. Wow. Is all that really necessary? Yeah, I’m afraid so. What about boys? You think maybe she would’ve checked in with one of them? Maybe they could have told her. I haven’t spoken to her. And, I mean, how weird would that be if she contacted either jake or aiden? Right, a-and jake and aiden, they didn’t mention anything when you checked in with them, right? I didn’t tell them about the break-in. I just wanted to make sure they were okay. Right. I never considered that betsy could be using my sons. Well, hey, I-in case one of the kids is involved, I’ll keep a low profile on this, all right? At least take that worry off your mind. You were looking pretty good out there, girl. Who knew it would be so much fun and feel incredible to throw an axe? I mean, who came up with this business model? I think a lumberjack.

[ Laughter ] Well, if only we could throw axes at all of our problems. Although, I guess in sonny and nina’s case, that might not be a very good thing. Yeah. Do you guys really think it’s a good idea to drink beer and throw axes at the same time? I do. Okay, then.

[ Laughs ] Speaking of sonny, I just signed away all my claims to community property. Do you really think that’s a good idea? I just wanted it to be over, and I just want to move forward. And you think you can?

[ Down-tempo music plays ] Not right now. I can’t move past all the damage nina did, no matter how hard I try. And I don’t think I’ll be able to move past it until nina pays. Yeah. I don’t blame you. But karma is gonna take care of this. Nina will get what’s coming to her. Karma takes too long. Honey…it’s not healthy to focus on revenge. You know what? I think olivia is right. You have got a new life ahead of you. Why don’t you just focus on that? Nina: How can you say that to me? I would never hurt wiley. Nina, I don’t doubt your love for wiley. I just never know what I’m going to get with you. Well, know this. I think about him all the time, and I miss him every single day. I realize that I have made mistakes. It might be hard to believe this, but I am learning from my mistakes, willow, and I promise I will be more forthcoming in the future. I want to keep the door open for wiley to have a relationship with you. But michael is another story, and I’m starting to understand where he’s coming from. Do not keep me from my grandchild.

Maybe what drew and i had planned is the wrong move. Yes. Just be patient a little while longer, and I believe you’ll learn everything you need to know. And then you can make better decisions to keep all of us safe. And that’s all that matters.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Excuse me. Drew. Hey, drew. I was just about to call you. Yeah. I got news about your dad. Uh, yeah. Never mind that interview. Um, too late. We just finished. How’d it go? Marshall turned me down. He wouldn’t agree to a background check. I’ll, uh, look into betsy’s whereabouts the last two months or so. I just finished talking with the officer. [ Door opens, closes ] How you holding up? The thought that betsy may have been here for months, using her knowledge of — of me and franco to play these games, it’s just creepy. I mean, has she been breaking into my house this entire time, following me to work, getting my key, bringing it back? I’ve been working too much. She could have been here while my boys were asleep. She could have hurt them and i wasn’t here to protect them — hey, mom. I can protect us just fine, okay? In fact, you know what? I’m gonna get someone to cover my shift at kelly’s tonight. I don’t want you to be here alone. No. I don’t want you upending your life over this. Why don’t I bunk here for a couple days? Just — just till dante sorts all this out, all right? You know… chase has been bugging me about spending some time with violet. And she’d like it — more candy, stay up late. And I think chase could really use her company right now. [ Suspenseful music plays ] Scott! Hey. Scott: Oh, hey. What brings you by? Oh, a client, a little slip-and-fall case. So, peter august. He finally got what he deserved. Of course, I wanted him to go to trial and be charged with murdering franco ’cause I don’t want anybody to ever forget that. Yeah, me neither. You know? Do you have a minute? Yeah, sure. What’s going on? Do you get the sense that jake or aiden might resent me dating finn? Aiden? No. Jake? Most definitely.

[ Knock on door ] Looking very good behind that desk, my friend. Not too shabby, huh? Not too shabby at all. And I’m sorry I’ve been so remiss in not coming by before now to see your new digs. That’s okay. You have a law practice…

[ Door opens ] -Hey. -Hi. Hey, I just — I wanted to see how you’re doing, now that… now that bailey’s back with maxie, her real mother, the way it was always intended to be? It’s still got to hurt. Big time. You already packed? I’m working on it.

[ Sighs ] There’s no point in staying here. Oh.

About an hour after maxie picked bailey up, brook lynn came downstairs with a suitcase, claimed she was going to bensonhurst to visit her mother. Oh. Does, uh… does lois know the whole story? Just the basics. She said she wanted to explain everything to her face-to-face, but I think she just needed to get away.

[ Breathes deeply ] I guess the house probably feels pretty empty without bailey in it. And me. Because you’re moving out. Y-yeah, there’s no point in me staying here, now that the whole charade is over. Yeah. You know, I saw you two together, you and brook lynn. I saw you in action when bailey went missing. You’re pretty good together, right? You were there for each other. You held each other up. I was sort of thinking maybe you would… lean on each other again to get through this. So did I. But then I kissed her, and she ran. Aiden and jake told me they like finn. Well, aiden likes him okay. Jake complains a lot, though. He does? Yes, but jake’s a teenager. I’m lucky to get him to talk at all. I mean, they really just want to text. But jake complains about his brother, about finn, about no good action movies. I mean… I’ve been worried about him since jason died. Do you think he could be acting out? Acting out? I mean, why would you say that? Well, some weird things have been happening recently. Like my wedding ring — I decided to take it off… I noticed that, and — and I think that that’s good. I think that shows that you’re moving on, which is great, elizabeth. Okay, but the night that finn and I decided to have our first official date, I found my ring in my locker here at G.H., Like it was some kind of reminder of franco before I went out on my date. So, y-you think that jake did that? I-I think that’s a little bit of a stretch. I know, I know. I agree. But who else could it be? I mean, how did my ring get from my house to my locker? And I asked the kids. They denied it, and they seemed sincere, jake included. But now, with what you’re saying, I don’t know. Do you think jacob’s trying to tell me something? You, of all people, know the value of deniability.

[ Chuckles ] You are not hired — therefore, you are not protected by attorney-client privilege. Well, if harmony admits to the forgery, which I hope was never used in the commission of a crime, then it doesn’t matter what I know. Speculation, counselor.

[ Laughs ] I hope that the person in question is going to do the right thing. And I’m speaking hypothetically because, you know, I have to protect my sources. Oh, that’s right, because you’re in — you’re in journalism now. Alexis: Yeah. So you got to protect your sources. Alright, well, hypothetically speaking, I hope the person in question… …is trustworthy, that your trust is well-placed. With regard to harmony, she did come through, in the end, with her testimony against shiloh, but the woman has a long history of manipulation, and I would hate to see you taken advantage of. Is this your way of saying that you don’t trust

my judgment? Criminals?

[ Scoffs ] I’m not sure who you’re referring to. I’m referring to bucky. He and I go way back to some of my more nefarious days. And I suppose you can say he’s somewhat of an artist. Yeah, nobody can craft a fake id like bucky. Driver’s license, passport — you name it. Really? I had no idea. I thought you said he was your friend. More of a drinking buddy. Plays a mean game of darts. But, um, thank you for your concern. Mm. I’m a big girl. You know, I really don’t care what you do with your life, unless it affects alexis. I fail to see how the occasional darts buddy would, uh, affect alexis. You know, alexis has a lot of folks in port charles who care about her, none of whom will let you drag her into something shady. Alexis is perfectly capable of taking care of herself. That she is. But you missed my point. Alexis no longer has to take care of herself. She isn’t isolated in spring ridge. She has friends,

real friends, and loved ones around her. You’d do well to watch your step. Carly, please, don’t start. We need to talk. You — you already told me we have nothing to say. Um, sonny, I’m going to go. No, no, no, it’s okay. Hold on. No, I-I was going to go, anyway, remember? Alright. You guys go ahead. Come in and I’ll be in in a second.

[ Sighs ] Sonny: What’s going on? Is this about donna? It’s about jason.

I’m glad alexis has a strong support system around her. It’s a challenge, reentering society and starting over, as we both know.

I mean, brook lynn just gave up the — the child that she raised as her own since birth, and you think it’s your disgusting kiss that sent her running? Okay, thank you [Claps hands] For stopping by. [ Sighs ] Jake is — I’m telling you — he is mentally stable, but he is a teenage boy, and with that comes a lot of angst and a lot of, you know, trouble. Yeah, I-I know, I know. And I’m hoping that’s all it is. Yeah, but, you know… planting your ring in your locker, you know, that sends a message. It could all be a little more sinister as well. Now, I don’t think jake would ever do that, but somebody did it, and that is harassment. There have been some other odd occurrences. A-anything dangerous? No. They might not even be related. Elizabeth, listen to me, okay? Now, if anything goes on that seems fishy, sketchy, you get a hold of me. There are a lot of crackpots out there. Promise me that.

[ Chuckling ] Okay. Betsy: There you are. They said you were on this floor. I was beginning to wonder. Betsy, what are you doing here? I got your message. You said you were at work, so, here I am. But I just called you. I was already in town. To visit bobby. You came to see franco? I thought you’d want to know that maxie is safe and peter august is dead. It’s about damn time. Thank you for making the trip all the way over here. Dante was here earlier. And you’re here because…? Well, I was in switzerland. I can give you the details if you want them. Ah, well, I know all I need to know. He died like the dog he was. I can attest to that. Um… well, you said what you came to say. I can give you a ride back, if you want. No. Thank you. But I’m not done here. Sonny and I need to get a few things straight.

I didn’t know you were in port charles. I was at bobby’s grave when you called. I can’t believe it’s already a year since we lost him. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of my sweet boy. I know you understand. You loved him, too. I did, very much. I called because I wanted you to know peter august, the man who killed franco, is dead. I’m glad. After the hard life bobby had, he finally found happiness with you and your boys. You should’ve had more time together. That man, peter august, he robbed us all of years we should’ve had with bobby. Franco will always be in my heart. He feels very present for me, too. Sometimes I can almost pretend he’s still here. Well, he would want you to be happy and to keep living your life. Easier said than done. I know. I’ve had a hard time with it, too. But I’m slowly startingto find life after franco. I’m even seeing someone.

[ Chuckles ] Oh, I know. I know all about it. My relationship with brook lynn, it’s complicated. But, first of all, brook lynn and i are friends. That’s why, when I figured out what was going on between her and maxie, and then I saw that valentin was about to blow everything up, I-I stepped in to help cover for her. And — and it was intense — you know, acting like bailey’s father and assuming all these new responsibilities, but I saw how relieved brook lynn was when — when she had someone to talk to. You know, she could tell me because I knew the truth. I mean, she was carrying that all by herself, and she was taking hits from her family, and she was terrified that peter would find out and do exactly what he did — kidnap bailey. I never thought I’d say this, but… let’s get to the kissing.

[ Sighs ] Right. Um. Brook lynn and I, we’re friends, right? And we — we had this, this huge secret together, so there were times we’d look at each other… mm-hmm. …And I thought, you know, maybe. Mm-hmm. But then, the — the moment didn’t last very long, and nothing ever happened between us until… we found out the news that maxie was safe, peter was dead, and everything was over. And, bro, I-I couldn’t — I couldn’t take my eyes off her, and — and I couldn’t pull away — not that I wanted to — and — and I kissed her. And? Uh, afterwards, she kind of, uh, she dodged the moment, you know? And I could tell brook lynn wasn’t into it, so… I let it go. You let it go? You just let it go? Well, it sounds like this kiss wasn’t A… spur-of-the-moment thing, at least not for you. Kind of begs the question — do you have feelings for brook lynn?

[ Door closes ] Dad. Hey. Hey, hey. Sorry I’m late. I was in surgery. Not a problem, doc. I hope your surgery was a success. Get this. It started as a simple breast reduction, right? Mm-hmm. The patient was experiencing some back problems, so she opted to have a reduction mammoplasty. But while she was on the table, we discovered a tumor. A tumor, as in breast cancer? Right. Now, this was a young woman with no family history, no symptoms or indications of breast cancer. Mm-hmm. And we were able to remove the entire tumor during the reduction procedure. And we don’t know if it’s invasive, yet, but my guess is we caught it early. And women who are diagnosed at the time of breast reduction have a statistically better chance of survival than the general population, so I’m optimistic.

[ Chuckles ] I think — I think we might have saved this woman’s life, not just her back. Right. This is definitely worth being a little late for, huh, you know? And we have another reason to celebrate. What’s the first one? I just want you to know how, you know, how great these past few months have been, you know? Getting the chance to, you know, really hang out with you and get to know you. For me, as well, but why are you talking like it’s over?

[ Laughs ] Never, okay? But I do have some news. Okay. I found this interesting business opportunity, and, uh… I’m going to have to move to san francisco.

[ Door opens ]

[ Door closes ] Hey. Okay, guess what — there’s no need to track me down, drew, okay? Because that collision at sonny’s penthouse — that was an unfortunate accident. I don’t want to run into carly, either. I really try hard to avoid her altogether. So, I just came here to get something to eat. Oh, o-okay. I’m sorry. Um. [ Diane chuckles ] …Have I fallen so low in your eyes that, shockingly, you think that I won’t know if somebody’s manipulating me? Hm… well, as you know, that’s the whole point of manipulation — the person being targeted never being aware… mm-hmm. …That they are being manipulated. That being said, I believe in you. Do you? Do you? ‘Cause I’m not feeling it. You forged a relationship with harmony at spring ridge. She was the only person you could talk to during a period of time when you were uncharacteristically vulnerable. When i was vulnerable? Well, how else would you describe incarceration? Yes, it was minimum security, but it was a far cry from the life that you’re used to, and I doubt that your fellow inmates were big on scintillating conversation. Harmony’s the closest thing that you had to a contemporary… yeah. …While you were at spring ridge. But now you’re out, and I’m just worried that her motives are less than pure. And are you sure that she is someone who deserves your support?

[ Knock on door ] Come in! Oh, sorry. Am I interrupting? Ah, no. Diane was just leaving. Yes, I was just leaving. I have things to do. Nice to see you behind a desk again. I will call you next week. How did willow take it when you told her that you weren’t her birth mother? What’s on your mind, carly? I don’t have a say about avery. I don’t want nina staying over when donna’s here. It’s gonna be a confusing enough situation for donna. Well, I mean, unless nina’s going to be a permanent fixture, right?

[ Chuckles ] No, it’s not like that. I wouldn’t do anything to hurt donna or avery. You should know that. There’s a lot I thought I knew about you, sonny, but you proved me wrong, so I’m not gonna take anything for granted. Do you really think I would– I-I wouldn’t put donna and avery first? I know you’re a good father, so I trust that you will act in the girls’ best interest, okay? Nina: You went out on yet another bender last night, right? Right. Well, I’m not claiming to be some kind of expert here, but I do know this — aside from the physical health concerns, alcohol can dull the effects of the medication. Even though you’re back on your meds, you could still be emotionally vulnerable until it fully kicks in.

Carly: I would like to bring donna saturday. I mean, it’s her first night staying with you, so I want to make the transition as easy as possible. And I’d also like to be there when you show her her new bedroom, and I want to bring some toys over so she feels comfortable. No, no, no. W– we’re — we’re not — we’re not going to do that.

Well, you sure know how to ask the loaded questions. Hey, you’re welcome. I don’t know how to feel about brook lynn. Alright. Well, I mean, on the surface, you’re not an obvious match. Oh, I mean, tell me about it. I — at the beginning, I could not stand brook lynn.

[ Laughs ] I thought she was

so selfish, and she came across self-centered. Mm. But that was just a front. Really? -Mostly. -Hm. The more I got to know brook lynn, I was so impressed by — by her strength, you know, and her courage. I mean, yeah, she’s — oh, she’s gorgeous. And — and she makes me laugh. And she’s so loyal. Now, with our schedules, it has taken a lot longer to find a place, but we finally did. Yeah, you found an apartment? More like molly did, but it’s this real nice building on the edge of the charles street district. Molly fell in love with it, but there were no vacancies, and every other place we considered, she’d find some flaw and bring up that building. So, one sunday, she finally dragged me over there to, you know, knock on doors… yeah. …Introduce ourselves, leave a card, just in case someone was thinking of moving. What do you know? The ground floor tenants are moving out, and we put in an application the same day.

[ Chuckling ] Well, congratulations. Right? It sounds like you found the perfect space. But you — you’re still gonna see alexis, right? Of course. Uh, why do you ask? I’m — I’m worried.

[ Breathes deeply ] Molly and I were, too, when she first got out of spring ridge. But ever since you made her editor-in-chief of the invader, she’s active, she’s engaged. All seems right with alexis’ world. Actually, it’s her affiliation with harmony I’m worried about. How did you explain to willow that you suddenly found the birth certificate, when she and michael have been looking for it for weeks? Um, okay, I said that, uh, clairborne county was rural and underpopulated, with an antiquated recordkeeping system, which is true, and then I-I just said I did a lot of coaxing, called in a few favors, and managed to unearth her birth certificate. She believe that? I think she was just, you know, so relieved at the thought of getting her actual birth certificate. But she isn’t! I know! I know I bought another fake, and I know it’s against the law! You know who else knows that? Me. I know it’s against the law. At least it’s a victimless crime. I mean, it’s not like you stole the baby. I mean, the mother abandoned the baby. Right? You have a legal problem, but you have a bigger emotional one, and I’ll tell you why. Because you cannot have an honest relationship with willow when there’s this huge lie in the middle of it. Now, it is not too late to tell the truth. I can’t, alexis. I’m — I’m not strong enough. I’m not strong like you. My opinion of you, it’s not shaped by what I’ve been told. It’s actually based on what you’ve done, and what you did to sonny and his family is so appalling. It’s selfish beyond belief, really. And let’s be honest right now because sonny’s just not a simple coffee importer, right? His absence kind of created a — a power vacuum, which, in turn, made it very dangerous for his “widow.” I mean, carly could have died trying to keep his company together. Well, I am sorry that I don’t know the inner workings of the mob. Look, nina, you may not have known the details, but you were very, very aware of — of the general circumstances. The bottom line is that you are a liar, and those lies created a world of damage. And I’m gonna be really clear about something right now. Carly is my friend… and I am not gonna sit around and let her get hurt. I did not tell nina I was off my medication. She figured it out. Right. And nina made a point of telling me that you needed me. And, at the time… okay. …I thought it was manipulation, but it wasn’t — it was classic nina. She was just trying to clear her conscience, so she could tell herself that she tried, when, really, what she should’ve done, sonny, is tell me that you were off your bipolar medication! I did not want you to know. Why?! I didn’t — I didn’t — why didn’t you want me to know? I didn’t want to cause you any more trouble. I didn’t want to worry you. I did not want you to come back to me out of pity! How many times have I gotten you through a breakdown? How many times? Many times. That’s why I didn’t want to ask you for help again, because of what was going on between us. Yet again… …you can’t trust me enough to tell me the truth.

[ Sighs ] That just goes to show me how far apart we’ve grown.

[ Crying ] And that breaks my heart. Family is just very important. She’s my sister and we depend on each other a lot. She’s the rock of the fami ly. She’s the person who holds everything together.

You don’t have to worry. We’ll keep an eye on harmony. I feel much better knowing that. Alexis is fierce, but… she has a weakness for underdogs. So does molly. But that weakness doesn’t extend to letting someone take advantage of her mom. I’m just sorry I can’t be there to keep alexis from getting involved in whatever shady business harmony’s involved in. I think you should tell willow the truth. I think she deserves the truth. But it’s your life. It’s your decision. So — so, you’re not gonna write me off?

[ Sighs ] You do not make this easy. But you stuck by me, and I certainly didn’t make it easy for you. So, I’m afraid you’re stuck with me. Thank you for being honest about your meds. And I appreciate you putting donna first. Always. And I still want to see donna. I just don’t — like, you know, not like overnight — you know what I mean? That’s fine with me.

[ Voice breaking ] Take care of yourself. You, too. I have no intention of hurting carly, again. Despite what people may think, I do not live my life with carly in mind. Yeah, you certainly weren’t thinking about her when you kept sonny in nixon falls, were you? Oh, you know what, drew? Think of something original to say. What I did was horrible, yes, but I cannot change it now.

[ Chuckling ] Oh, that is so convenient. I mean, come on, you can’t change what you did, but you expect a free pass? You actually reserve the right to feel sorry for yourself when somebody’s calling you out. Oh, and what about you? What is this — some kind of sick game you like to play, setting me up by saying, “I want to thank you,” when you obviously despise me? Hold — you approached me, right? I thanked you for what you did for maxie.

You brought up carly. You slipped in there how she was badmouthing you. Yeah, that’s right. That was my mistake. Because I don’t care what carly thinks about me. I don’t care what anyone thinks about me anymore. I just want to move on with my life. With sonny. I care about sonny! I do! But we are not together. Does he know that?

We just talked about me the whole time. No, that’s the way I like it. I don’t want to be talking about my feelings. Are things okay with you and elizabeth? Things between me and elizabeth are okay. Although there are some… strange things happening that have her a little on edge.
