Gwen was upset when she found out Abby was going to look for Sarah. Gwen wanted to know why Abby was going to find her. Kate told Chad not to be too cocky about EJ’s downfall. Chad said he had a right to be. She asked him if he really thought EJ set up Sami’s kidnapping. Chad said he did. She thought it was too convenient that he happened to find the evidence on the company computer. Nicole was angry at EJ for dumping her for Sami and for getting rid of Duke. Rafe accused Ava of destroying Duke. She said she didn’t have a reason to hurt Duke unless she had a reason to worry. He said she did it because of his friendship with Nicole. Ava said they told her she had nothing to worry about. She asked if that was true. Abby told Gwen that Sarah was her cousin and she wanted to find her. Gwen told her that wasn’t the reason why she was looking for Sarah. She said she was looking for Sarah to hurt her. Rafe told Ava that she had an opportunity to hurt Duke. Ava said she didn’t have a motive. She asked if she had a reason to worry about him and Nicole being together. He said she didn’t have a reason to worry. EJ told Nicole that Sami wouldn’t hurt Duke, but he would ask her. Nicole told him Sami left town with Lucas. Kate asked Chad if he was the one who planted the evidence against EJ. Gwen told Abby that Xander would be hurt if Abby found Sarah. Abby thought she didn’t want Sarah to be found because she would lose Xander. Abby said Gwen always thought she was the source of her problems. Gwen said she was always keeping people who loved from her. She said she started it with their father and was doing it with Xander. Rex told Xander what happened with Sarah. Xander said it was bizarre if you factor in Kristen. Rex wanted to know what he was talking about. Rafe wanted Ava to leave. She said he owed her an apology. He apologized to her. He said Nicole thought it was Sami who destroyed Duke. Ava said she thought she saw a bottled blonde. He asked her what time. She said she didn’t know. He said there were cameras so he could check. EJ couldn’t believe Sami would leave town with Lucas. Nicole said she did. He said she believed him. She said she believed him when he said he was finished with Sami. He said he didn’t kidnap Sami. He said Lucas did it. She asked if he had any proof. He said Chad framed him. Kate told Chad that he had a motive to set EJ up. Chad said he didn’t set him up. She wanted him to swear on his father’s grave that he was telling the truth. He told her Lucas planted the evidence.

Jack told Gwen that Abby was looking for Sarah because they were worried about her. Abby said she wasn’t looking for Sarah to hurt Gwen. Abby told Jack and Jennifer that the paper needed them. She told them to keep their promise that they were coming back home. They said they would. Jack asked Gwen what was going on. He asked why she was afraid she was going to lose Xander. Xander told Rex that Kristen tipped him off about what she did to Sarah. Kate told Chad Lucas wouldn’t frame EJ because he didn’t have a password to the computer. Chad said he had her password. She realized he was telling the truth. Chad said he thought the kidnapper was Lucas. Nicole asked EJ if he thought Chad framed him. EJ asked if she knew him to leave a paper trail. She said she didn’t. She said he thought Chad framed him, but Lucas set up the kidnapping. He said Lucas was the one who set him up. She said she didn’t care what happened to him after the way he hurt her. He apologized for hurting her. Rafe told Ava that he was going to look at the security camera to see what happened. She said he was making a big deal about a stuffed animal. He said the bear was a message. She said Nicole slept with Sami’s husband. She said Nicole was lucky she didn’t do worse. Gwen told Jack that she was awful to Abby. He said she was. She said no one loved her the way Xander has. She said she didn’t want to lose him. He asked why she was afraid to lose him. She said Xander loved Sarah. Jack said Sarah dumped him. Kate asked Chad why Lucas would set up EJ. Chad said to get EJ out of the picture. She said she didn’t believe it. He said it was hard especially knowing about Philip. She wanted to know what he meant. He said he meant Philip being dead. She said it meant she failed two sons. He said he wasn’t going to say anything. She said he should. Nicole thanked EJ for his apology, but she didn’t forgive him. She said he humiliated her by dumping her for Sami. She yelled at him for not telling him that he was going to work things out with his wife. Jack told Gwen Xander loved her. He said Xander risked his life in prison for her. He said Sarah left Xander for Rex so he wouldn’t want to go back to Sarah. EJ apologized to Nicole for ripping up the divorce papers. He said he wanted to be with her. She said he only wanted her because Sami dumped him. She wanted him to leave or she would call security. He asked her not to do it. She said she would leave. Kate told Chad that Lucas was wrong for framing EJ. Chad told her Lucas would never forgive her. She said they shouldn’t let EJ go to prison for something he didn’t do. Chad said Lucas did what he did for love.

Ava was upset about Rafe and Nicole making a fool of her. Rafe walked in the room and wanted to make plans with her. Nicole called him because she had an emergency. Ava told him to go to her. He decided to go. Ava threw her coffee across the room. Later, Rafe arrived at Basic Black so Nicole showed him the bear. He wanted to know who destroyed the bear. Nicole thought Sami was the one who did it. She thought she was paying her back for breaking up her marriage. She wanted to know who else hated her enough to do it. Rafe called and found out that Sami and Lucas left town. He said that it probably wasn’t Sami. Nicole wanted to get back to work. Abby went to see Maggie at the Kiriakis mansion. She wanted to let Maggie know that the Spectator was going to do a story about what happened to Philip. She wanted to let Maggie and Victor know before they read about it in the paper. Maggie appreciated it and wanted to know if she could help find Sarah. Abby was willing to do everything she could to find her. She told her that she was going to be running the paper now because Jack and Jennifer had other plans.

Steve was about to leave when Jack and Jennifer showed up. They told Steve and Kayla that they were leaving town. They were leaving to take over another paper. They said they would be back as soon as the paper was on its feet. Xander arrived and found out about Jack and Jennifer leaving. Xander made a comment about Jack leaving town without telling Gwen goodbye. Jennifer told him that Gwen didn’t make it easy for Jack to love her. Xander let it go and wished them luck. Jack and Jennifer left Steve and Kayla’s place. Xander asked Steve to help find Sarah. He let him know that he was on another case. He suggested he talk to John. Xander called John, but he wasn’t taking any cases until Marlena was fine. Xander realized he had to find her by himself. Kayla wanted to pack her things and go with Steve. She said John couldn’t be with him so she wanted to go. He was worried about her being around Kristen. She reminded him that she saved him numerous times before. He finally decided to let her go with him. Gwen showed up at Rafe’s place to see Ava. She said Ava was the only one who could help her with Xander. Ava was certain that no one would find Sarah. Gwen said that Xander was going to hire Steve to find Sarah. Ava changed her mind and said that Steve could find her. She said it could work out in her favor. She said if Steve found Sarah without any involvement from Kristen, no one would know that Gwen knew about Sarah. Gwen thought she would lose Xander to Sarah.

Johnny turned out to have the devil in him. He said he wanted to see Marlena’s face when she found out he had the devil in him. Chanel looked for him and found him before she heard him talking with the devil voice. She told him that he missed their kiss. He said nothing stopped them from doing it now. Roman, Kate, Steve and Kayla were drinking together. Steve told them Brady hired him to look for Kristen. He said Brady thought Kristen was framing him. Roman told Kate he was going to hire Steve to look for Philip. She told him he didn’t need to hire Steve to look for Philip. Sami told Lucas that she couldn’t be with someone who kidnapped her. She said she was done with EJ. Lucas thought about kidnapping Sami. She wanted to know what was wrong. Steve said the theory was Kristen was holding Philip captive to frame Brady. Kate asked if he thought Philip was alive. Steve said that was the theory. When Steve and Kayla left, he let Kate know he would find Philip. Roman told Kate Steve would find Philip. Kate said he wasn’t going to find Philip. Lucas told Sami he wanted to be with her. She told him she wanted to leave town.

Kate told Roman that Philip was alive. He wondered if she would have said anything if he didn’t ask her. She said she and Victor were going to get Philip the help he needed. She asked him not to say anything about Philip being alive. Steve and Kayla went to see John and Marlena. Marlena apologized to them for what she did. Kayla said she didn’t have to apologize. Marlena said she did. Lucas asked Sami why they had to move. Sami said it was about them now. She said there shouldn’t be any distractions. He thought she meant EJ. She said he would come after him when he got out of jail. He said he could handle EJ. She said they shouldn’t have to. She said they could go to Phoenix and visit Will. She said they could do anything. He said as long as they weren’t in Salem. She agreed with him. She said they should hurry up and leave town. Roman told Kate that Brady could go to prison. She said he wouldn’t go to prison. She said she and Victor rescinded the missing person report so Brady wouldn’t get in trouble. Roman was glad she trusted him. He said she was a mother who wanted to protect her son. He said he would keep her secret. Marlena apologized to Steve and Kayla for what she did to Tripp. Kayla said what shocked her more when she kissed her. Marlena was shocked. Sami wanted to know what was stopping Lucas from wanting to leave town. He said nothing was stopping him. She wanted to know what was going on. He flashed back to talking to Allie about EJ kidnapping her. Sami told him they couldn’t screw things up again. She said if their relationship was going to work, they had to be honest with each other. She asked what was bothering him. Steve told Marlena that the devil turned into him, but eventually turned back into Marlena. Marlena was still shocked. Lucas told Sami that he wanted to be honest with her. When he was about to tell her something, Kate and Roman showed up. Lucas told them that he and Sami were back together. He also told them they were leaving Salem.

Lucas talked to Tom and Alice’s plaques. She heard him say he did it for love. Allie wondered what he did for love so she wanted to listen to him. They talked about EJ kidnapping Sami. Allie thought he was cruel and sadistic. She wouldn’t be able to forgive him for what he did. They talked about Johnny and Chanel getting married. She admitted that she cursed their relationship. Lucas thought it was funny, but he warned her to be careful not to lose them over her opinion of their relationship. John and Marlena went to see Ben and Ciara. She wanted their forgiveness for what she did. Ben didn’t think it was necessary. Ciara wanted to know why the devil wanted her baby. She wanted to tell them, but she couldn’t remember what happened. She said she got emotions and images, but she didn’t have any memories. She apologized for what happened and they reminded her about what she did for them. Marlena was proud of them and knew they would make great parents.

John and Marlena were on the couch. She turned on the TV and only heard static. She thought of what the devil did to her. She pleaded with God to help her. John returned to a worried Marlena. He said the TV was acting up so he fixed it. He held her and she assured him that she was okay. She said there was nowhere else she’d rather be than with him than anything. Sami told Gabi she had proof EJ kidnapped her. She admitted the worst part was that EJ was the love of her life. She didn’t know what to do. Gabi wasn’t the best person to ask. She learned not to settle for someone who didn’t respect her. Gabi said EJ didn’t deserve her. Gabi advised her to pick herself up and move on with her life. Lucas saw the same news about Shin firing EJ. He thought that he got good news. He was about to leave when he ran into Sami. She left him know that she was finished with EJ. She said she wasn’t going back to him. She was ready to start over with Lucas.

Ava met with Rafe at the station. She was guarded as they talked about New Year’s plans. She narrowed her eyes as she suggested inviting Nicole to hang out with them. Rafe balked but Ava insisted she be there before she left. Brady shocked Chloe by being at work. She was emotional over Philip. She assured him that she didn’t think he did anything to Philip. Brady apologized for Philip being missing because of Kristen. She hoped Kristen had Philip kidnapped somewhere he could escape. Brady promised to do what she could to help him. Chloe wanted him to be careful. He knew Kristen wouldn’t hurt him. Brady blamed himself for not taking Philip’s feelings into consideration. She blamed herself too because she knew her relationship with him drove Philip crazy. Chloe talked to Brady about Kate thinking they were the ones who had sex on the conference table. Ava showed up as Chloe told Brady how she was forced to tell Kate that Nicole was the one having sex on the conference table with Rafe. Ava was upset when she heard what Chloe said. Chloe and Brady started talking about New Year’s. They decided to leave early. Ava snuck back in the office and found Duke. She said their shared custody arrangement was over. She was reeling over their betrayal. She cut off Duke’s head. She was certain they weren’t going to get away with it.

EJ told Sami and Nicole why he was convinced Lucas was the one who kidnapped Sami. Sami didn’t buy it. She let it slip that she and EJ were back together. She was happy that Nicole didn’t know. Nicole couldn’t believe it. Nicole and Sami went back and forth. Nicole asked EJ if it was true. He confirmed he was back together with Sami. Nicole told her that she could have him because she never really wanted him anyway. Nicole walked out of the house. Chad wanted to know why Lucas was using his computer. Lucas showed him the money trail that proved EJ was Sami’s kidnapper. Chad didn’t recognize the fund transfers being sent to Jason Smith. Chad thought it was unbelievable. He said it was a little too unbelievable. Chad accused him of trying to plant evidence against EJ. He told Lucas that he was the one who had Sami kidnapped. Lucas tried but failed to deny it. He thought setting EJ up would him out too. Lucas told him that he could run DiMera by himself. Chad wanted to think about it. EJ and Sami went back and forth about her kidnapping. Chad walked in while they were talking. He showed Sami the paper trail linking EJ to Jason. Sami’s eyes got wide. EJ denied kidnapping her. Sami cried while she talked about how it felt being kidnapped. She knew Lucas would never do that to her. She thought EJ would do that to her. She stormed out of the mansion.

EJ accused Chad of setting him up to get arrested. Chad asked why he would set him up. EJ said he did it so he could run DiMera. Chad said he already ran DiMera. EJ said he wanted to do it by himself. Chad said he didn’t have to set him up to run it. He said he could show that he was a better worker. EJ wondered who could have set him up if it wasn’t Chad. He said it could be Rafe or Lucas. Lucas asked Sami if Jason stuck to the same story that EJ was the one who set up the kidnapping. She said he did. He asked if it changed her opinion about her husband. Maggie talked to Jack and Jennifer about Gwen. Maggie said she knew Gwen did bad things to Abby, but she cared about Xander. Jennifer wondered if it was about Sarah. Lucas and Sami argued over EJ being the one who kidnapped her. She asked why he would do it. She said he could have done it while she was there. EJ, Chad and Abby continued to talk about who could have set him up for the kidnapping. Eric and Nicole talked about him being a priest.

Maggie continued to defend Xander. Jack said their friendship was over. He said Xander lied to him. Maggie said she did her part for Xander. She said whatever he did was up to him. Nicole and Eric talked about EJ. She told him she believed EJ didn’t kidnap Sami. Eric couldn’t believe she believed him. She wanted to know why Eric was there. He said he wanted to see her before he left. She asked if it was going back to Africa. He said he was. Chad and Abby told EJ that he should stay away from DiMera because the shareholders wouldn’t like it. EJ didn’t think that was a good idea. Sami asked Lucas why EJ wouldn’t kidnap her sooner. She didn’t believe he would wait to do it. Lucas asked who else would have done it. Gwen was upset that Xander wanted to find Sarah. He said he didn’t want to find her to be back with her. She thought he wanted to be with her. He said he wanted to make sure Sarah was okay. He said she lied about where she has been. EJ called Sami. Lucas told her not to answer the phone. She answered it. EJ wanted her to meet him at the mansion. She said she would meet him there.

Johnny accused Allie of being in love with Chanel. Allie said his accusation was ridiculous. She didn’t want to see her best friend get hurt. Chanel thought she would be happy for her. Allie wished she could be happy for her, but reminded her of the mistake she made with Xander. She assured her that she and Johnny were in love. Allie believed that he would break her heart. They kept arguing about it before they decided to leave. Tripp asked Allie if Johnny was right. He wanted to know if she was in love with Chanel. Allie denied being in love with her. He said she seemed emphatic about it. She thought he should know how she felt about him. John was happy to see Eric. He took off his coat and John saw that he was a priest again. Eric. He said Nicole’s words about him never changing after taking off the collar made him look into it again. John said his timing was perfect. Mardevil taunted Lucas about telling Sami the secret he was keeping from her. Sami wanted to know what she meant. Lucas said he loved her and would do anything to get her back. Eric walked in and interrupted them. Mardevil wasn’t happy to see Eric. Eric and Mardevil argued back and forth. Eric wanted to be alone with her. Sami, Lucas and John left the room. Mardevil said if Eric went up against her alone, he would die. She taunted him about Kristen and morphed into her.

Brady and Belle arrived at the townhouse. Brady told Lucas that he didn’t hurt Philip. Lucas said he believed him. John told them that Father Eric was helping her. Belle and Brady were shocked that Eric was a priest again. Brady didn’t think Eric should fight her alone. Eric was shocked to see the footage of Kristen drugging him and raping him. Brady walked in to help Eric. Belle told how she found Shawn in bed with Jan. She argued with Sami because she brought Jan to town. John wanted them to stop arguing. Eric and Brady came back out in the room. Eric told them they had to fight the devil as a family. He thought it was the only way to save their mothers soul. Marlena’s family gathered around her bed. Eric blessed them and told them to say a group prayer. Mardevil said it wouldn’t work and that Marlena was her for life. Eric wanted them to talk to Marlena and pray God heard it. John held his cross while Eric continued with the exorcism. John asked God to remind Marlena that they all loved her. Mardevil yelled out before going limp. She closed her eyes. John whispered Marlena’s name. She opened her eyes and smiled at John. She assured him that she was really her. She said they all saved her. John and Eric untied her from the bed.

Paulina told Abe that Johnny and Chanel were married. Eli and Lani saw them so Paulina wished them a Merry Christmas. Lani kept walking so Paulina screamed out that Chanel was married. Lani was shocked and stopped walking. She thanked her for telling her. Paulina offered her a gift for the twins. It was a kaleidoscope of family pictures. Lani said her mother gave her something like that. She didn’t want the gift. Eli told her to take the gift. Lani took the gift and thanked her. Chanel let Johnny know that she was afraid his parents weren’t going to like that they were married. He said his parents had bigger problems than that. He was talking about his father being arrested for kidnapping his mother. He thought she might have had second thoughts about marrying him. She assured him that she was all in. He wanted to tell Allie the news. She was uncomfortable with the idea. Later, Johnny and Chanel arrived at Nicole’s place to see Allie. She thought they were there to talk about EJ being arrested for kidnapping their mother. They went back and forth about it. Johnny told her the real reason why they were there. Johnny and Chanel showed off their rings. Allie was upset and told them they made a mistake. They thought she would be happy for them. Allie reminded Chanel that Johnny was a player. Allie and Chanel started arguing until Johnny defended their love. He thought Allie was jealous. Johnny told Tripp that Allie wanted Chanel for herself.

Nicole went to see EJ at the station. She asked him if he kidnapped Sami. He denied doing it. He said a few people would frame him for the kidnapping. He listed the people who would have framed him. He considered Rafe his number one suspect. Nicole thought Lucas might have done it before Rafe. EJ wasn’t sure if Lucas had the nerve to do it. He realized it could have been Lucas. Nicole changed her mind about Lucas, but he thought it was possible. Nicole wanted to kidnap her too. He said he didn’t do it. They realized they had to find out who did it or he would spend New Year’s in prison. John got ready for Marlena’s exorcism. He wanted to get her back, but Mardevil refused to let it happen. Sami was at the townhouse when Lucas arrived. She told him about John and Marlena. Sami told him what happened at the Horton house. She was afraid that her mother would have turned John into a goat. He wanted to distract her so he talked to her about EJ kidnapping her. They were taking about it when they heard a noise. John grabbed rosary and the Bible. He threw holy water on her. The water burned her skin. Sami and Lucas arrived and saw what happened. Sami wanted John to stop what he was doing. John took Sami out of the room. He called Lucas to come with them. Mardevil slammed the door so he couldn’t leave. She told him that she knew he kidnapped Sami. She didn’t make him do it but she planted the seed in his head. She threatened to tell Sami what he did if he didn’t help her. John comforted Sami when they noticed Lucas wasn’t with them. Mardevil demanded that Lucas untie her. He was about to when Sami saw him. She wanted to know what he was doing. He lied and said he was retying her ropes. Mardevil said he was lying about everything. John asked God for a sign when there was a knock on the door. Eric was at the door.

John wanted a miracle so Gabriel appeared to him. He knew he couldn’t help, but he wanted to know how to find Marlena. Gabriel revealed that Marlena was at the Horton house. He gave John a St. Benedict medal which invoked God’s blessing. Gabriel said it would help him get the strength he needed to get the devil away from his friends. Gabriel go with him, but assured John he could do it if he didn’t lose faith. Mardevil set the Christmas tree on fire. She told them that she was there for her present. She looked at Ben and Ciara. Julie used the extinguisher to put out the fire. She said the house was no place for Satan. She said their goodness would prevail over Mardevil. She laughed at her. She told Julie that she always got what she wanted and she wanted Ciara’s baby. Ben stood in front of Ciara to protect her. He ordered her to stay away from Ciara. He said she would have to kill him before he let her get to Ciara or their baby. Mardevil was willing to kill him. Julie helped Ben protect Ciara with their love.

Mardevil continued to argue with Julie, Ben and Ciara. Mardevil raised lit torches and mocked Julie for thinking their love could stop her. The torches blew out suddenly. John walked in the house and realized he got there just in time. She reignited the torches, but John put them out by using Gabriel’s medal against them. John thrust his hand at Mardevil and she flew against the wall. Ben helped John put Mardevil in the car. He went back to the house by himself. He assured Ciara that she was safe now. Julie knew John would be able to help Marlena. She thought he and his love would be enough. Doug thought they showed the devil that their love would be enough to stop her. Shawn sat up in the bed when the real Belle walked in the room. They were confused and looked at the other blonde. They watched her turn into Jan. He swore she was Belle as he got dressed. Belle couldn’t believe that he didn’t make sure before he jumped in bed with her. He said he checked with Rafe first. Jan smiled while he tried to explain himself. She said she had a partner. She said Kayla and Steve saw someone else in her hospital bed. Jan teased Belle about having sex with Shawn before he arrested her. Later, Shawn took Jan to the police station. Belle demanded to know where Mardevil was. Jan didn’t know and wouldn’t tell her anyway. She didn’t want to say because the devil gave her a glorious day. Shawn had to stop Belle from attacking Jan. Jan continued to tease Belle about having sex with Shawn. She said they were bonded for life now. Shawn apologized to Belle for getting fooled by Jan. She didn’t blame him, but she couldn’t get the image out of her head. He hated that Jan took their anniversary from them. Belle told him that Jan tried her worst, but they were still together.

Jan was nervous meeting with Shawn. Mardevil thought she needed to freshen up. She waved and she turned into Belle. Mardevil thought his wife was the best person to seduce him. “Belle” opened the door and pulled him into a big kiss. Mardevil watched from the closet before leaving the room. Shawn pulled back from her. He wasn’t sure if she was his wife. She wondered who else she would be. She reached for his belt, but Shawn stopped her. He wanted to know why she called him from a blocked number. She said wanted to surprise him. He wanted to be with her, but he couldn’t because of everything that happened. “Belle” thought that was smart to be skeptical of her. She said he could call Rafe if he didn’t believe her. Shawn called Rafe who confirmed that Belle was planning a surprise. He gave Shawn the rest of the day off and hung up on him. It turned out that Mardevil was the one on the phone. “Belle” pulled Shawn into another kiss. He was still hesitant. He thought it was selfish of them to be together when their family was dealing with a lot. She thought their happiness would make the devil mad. She knelt down in front of him as he sat on the bed. He looked completely unsure about what was happening.

Rafe brought Sami’s guard to the station. Lucas watched him s Belle threatened to make him pay for kidnapping her sister. Rafe was willing to talk to the DA about going easy on him, but he had to give up the name of the person who hired him. Jason looked at Lucas. He asked for his lawyer. Belle and Rafe left the room. Jason told Lucas that he would tell about him unless he gave him a better offer. Rafe talked to Belle about Brady being able to go home to see Rachel. Rafe left and Belle got a text from “Shawn.” Mardevil texted her to tell her to meet Shawn at the Salem Inn. Rafe returned to Jason and he was ready to talk. Later on Jason was ready to talk. Shawn and Belle talked about the charges for Brady being dropped since Victor and Kate revoked the papers declaring Philip dead. Shawn told Belle that Marlena pretended to be Steve and attacked Kayla. He said the devil stole the hospital key card. Belle wanted to know why the devil would steal the key card. She thought it might have been to rescue Jan. Shawn said Jan was still in a coma. The devil told Jan she was going to have sex with Shawn. Jan said she didn’t want to force him to have sex with her. The devil said she locked him in a cage. He said she could make him want to have sex with her. Belle was upset that the devil was after her and Shawn. Shawn tried to calm her down. Lucas told Philip that he knew two guys from prisoner that he paid to kidnap Sami. Philip wanted to know what the plan was. Lucas said he didn’t have a plan. He said he figured that she would go back to EJ. Johnny and Chanel told their parents that they were married. EJ was upset that they were married. Paulina didn’t like the way EJ was insulting her. Johnny told them they loved each other. Paulina said she wanted to make sure Chanel wanted to marry Johnny when not too long ago she was kissing Allie. EJ and Sami were shocked.

Lucas was sitting at the bar, but he didn’t see her. Sami showed up at the pub. She asked Lucas about Philip. He told her there weren’t any leads. She told him that she didn’t have any leads on her mother either. He told her it was a season of miracles. He wanted to make a toast with coffee that they got what they wanted. He said he got what he wanted when she came home. He reminded her that he rescued her. She laughed and said she already thanked him for that. They had playful banter when she mentioned EJ. He wanted to go upstairs and check on Kate. Lucas knocked on Kate’s door and said he missed Philip too. He begged her to open the door. Lucas was shocked when Philip opened the door. Philip was moved by what he said about him. He didn’t want him to tell anyone that he was alive. Lucas agreed with him, but he wondered what he was going to do. Philip said Kate had a plan. She said the devil made her do it. Chanel couldn’t believe Johnny’s grandmother was possessed by the devil.

Lani read the card from the flowers Paulina sent her. She didn’t want any parts of her. Eli thought she should talk to her. Chanel was about to share some news with Paulina when Lani arrived. Chanel apologized to Lani for what happened at the wedding. Lani said it wasn’t her fault. Chanel was happy to have a sister. Lani was happy to have a sister too. Paulina was happy seeing her daughters bonding. Lani hardened towards her. She told Paulina that the flowers were beautiful, but she was donating them to a hospital. She wanted to give them to someone who would want them. She ripped the card and told her to stop reaching out to her. She stormed off. Chanel offered to take Paulina to lunch with the DiMeras. Johnny went to the DiMera mansion and saw EJ. Johnny wanted to know what he missed. He told him about his mother and grandmother.  Johnny wanted to call his mother. Sami answered and agreed to come over. EJ told him it would be the perfect time to serve Sami with new divorce papers. Sami arrived at the mansion and was happy to see Johnny. He asked her to forgive him for not realizing something was wrong. She said it wasn’t his fault. Johnny got a text from Chanel about meeting with her and Paulina for lunch. He was excited for Sami to meet Chanel. Johnny left to make arrangements for lunch. Sami approaches EJ and reminded him what it was like to be in love like that. Sami tried to get EJ to admit that he still loved her. Johnny walked back in the room with Chanel and Paulina. They made introductions and Johnny and Chanel started fawning over each other. They talked about their trip. They announced they got married. Johnny and Chanel kissed each other. Their parents were shocked. Kate sat with Victor and she told him that Philip was alive. He blamed Chloe for driving Philip to it. She said that she thought Philip didn’t think life was worth living. She said he was fragile and they had to help him disappear and get him the help he needed. Victor wasn’t on board with that plan. He wouldn’t let Brady go to prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Philip hid while Kate talked to Chloe. Chloe declared Brady’s innocence while Kate accused her of cheating on her son with Brady on the conference room table. Chloe was shocked by the accusation. She wanted to know who told her that. She told her that she overheard her talking to Brady. Chloe told her that Nicole was the one who had sex on the conference room and not her. Chloe swore on Parker’s life that she didn’t cheat on Phillip. Kate believed her, but she didn’t understand why she would defend the man who killed her son. Chloe told her that she thought Philip was still alive. She begged Kate to talk to Melinda so they could figure out what happened that night. She was willing to think about it. Chloe thanked her and left the room. Philip came out of hiding and called Chloe a liar. Kate told him that she sounded sincere and he misunderstood about who had sex on the conference room. He refused to believe it. It couldn’t have all been for nothing. Kate said she could help him get out of the mess. He refused to let Chloe and Brady make a fool of him. Kate told him that they didn’t have an affair. He refused to listen to that. He was going to prove Chloe was lying by getting her to confess. Kate became emotional while he explained that they wouldn’t make fools of him.

Philip was determined to win this. He talked about losing the children and women he loved. He called himself a hypocrite with Victor. He said he sold his rights away to his son. He questioned why he always loses people. He wanted to know what it meant to keep someone. Kate was tearing up and said that she loved him. They ended up hugging each other. Philip realized that he wanted to get out of the mess he created. He didn’t know what he was going to do. She said she would fix it. Shawn hugged Belle. He was sorry that her brother was going through that. He knew that she would be able to clear him. Belle thought Brady was being framed by Kristen. She thought she did it because he cut her out of Rachel’s life. She wondered who else would frame him. Steve found Kayla on the floor. Kayla woke up and panicked. She pulled a letter opener on Steve. She caught Jan up on what was happening. She revealed that she was the devil. Jan was happy that she was the devil. Tripp walked in and saw them together. He realized that she was the one who killed his brother. He was glad she was awake. He wanted to give them some privacy, but the devil said he wasn’t leaving. He tried to get through to the devil. He wanted her to fight. He tries to leave to get some help, but the devil hit him over the head.

She was shocked and started crying. Roman wanted to be there for her, but she demanded that Rafe arrest Brady for murder. Rafe understood Kate’s pain. He said the police didn’t have enough evidence to arrest Brady. She went ballistic on Rafe. She cried in Roman’s arms. She stopped crying. She told Roman that they didn’t know that Philip was dead. Rafe said he would let her know what was going on. Roman took Kate to the squad room. They saw Chloe. Kate slapped her. Kate blamed her for causing her son pain. She said it would be Chloe’s fault if Philip was dead. Roman took Kate out of the police station. Chloe cried. Belle was with Brady at the hospital when John came in the room. She said she didn’t know what to think. She said he was drunk. He said he hasn’t had a drink in a long time. He said he didn’t do it. He said he didn’t care what anyone else thought. He said it was important that she believed him. She said he sounded sincere, but she saw what he was like when he fell off the wagon. She said she thought he was going to hurt her when he was drunk. Belle came in when Brady was yelling at Chloe. He asked Belle if he thought he was capable of hurting Philip. Belle said no one knew if anyone was murdered. Brady said that didn’t sound convincing. She said the blood on him matched Philip’s. She wanted him to tell her what happened. He said he tried, but he couldn’t remember. Shawn went to see Victor. Shawn told Victor Philip was missing. He took Sami off of Nicole. He told her she wasn’t wanted there. Sami said she would leave, but it wasn’t over. When Sami left, Nicole wanted to leave. EJ told her she didn’t have to leave. She told him Sami being back changed everything. He said Sami was the past. He said Nicole was the future. Shawn and Melinda met with a diver. The diver had a plastic bag. Melinda wanted to know what it was. Shawn said it was a prosthetic leg. He said the only person he knew with a prosthetic leg was Philip.

Brady woke up with Chloe next time him. He told her he remembered getting food for John. She said she found him drunk at the river. He was shocked at what she told him. She told him about the tree, knife and the threatening texts to Philip. Brady said none of that happened. She said Shawn was having the river dragged for a body. Brady said he didn’t hurt Philip. He asked her if she thought he did it. Shawn told Belle that Brady was in the hospital after hurting Philip. Belle said Brady wouldn’t hurt Philip. Shawn got a call from forensics. Brady’s prints were found on the knife. She said that was circumstantial evidence. Shawn said he couldn’t find a sample of Philip’s blood to test it against the knife. Belle told Shawn to call the hospital because Philip had a lot of paternity tests. She said they should be in the database. Shawn went to call the hospital. When he came back, he told her Philip’s blood was on the knife. Rafe walked up on Nicole and EJ almost kissing each other. EJ wanted to know why Rafe was there. Rafe asked EJ if he knew how Kristen escaped. EJ flashed back to talking to Ava about helping Kristen. EJ said his hands were clean. EJ and Rafe continued to talk about Kristen until Rafe left. EJ asked Nicole about Rafe. She said it was harder to walk away than they thought. EJ said Rafe could make more of an effort to walk away. She told him he wasn’t over Sami. He said Sami didn’t have a hold on him. He asked why he would think about Sami when he had Nicole. They flirted with each other. They kissed each other. She started thinking of Rafe. She stopped thinking of Rafe. She suggested that they go upstairs to his room. She said she had to get Rafe out of her mind. EJ said he felt used, but he liked it.

Gabi and Ava got into an argument. Ava picked up a knife. It made Gabi think about Carmine dying. Rafe walked in and wondered what was going on. Gabi went to Rafe and said Ava was trying to kill her. Rafe told her to go to her room. Rafe told Ava that he saw Nicole at the DiMera mansion. Ava wanted to know what they talked about. He said he gave her an update on Kristen. He said he asked EJ questions. He said someone was lying. Allie asked Sami who kidnapped her. Sami said she thought it was Nicole. Sami told her why she thought Nicole kidnapped her. Lucas and Allie said they didn’t think Nicole was behind the kidnapping. Allie said Nicole got what she wanted when Sami’s marriage ended. Sami asked who said her marriage was over. Lucas told Sami that EJ kicked her out of the house. She still believed she and EJ could work things out. Lucas told her to go to the hospital. She thanked him for the concern. She wanted to get her husband back. Lucas said he would have left her where she was if he had known she was going to go back to EJ. EJ and Nicole made love. When they were finished, he asked if it was good enough to make her forget about Rafe. She said she had to think about it. He said he didn’t know anyone by the name of Sami. Sami walked in on them in bed.

EJ went to Rafe’s house to see Ava. He offered to be her attorney because she helped Kristen escape. She denied helping Kristen, but EJ didn’t believe her. He said he had eyes and ears everywhere. He said he knew what she did. She asked what he was going to do about what he knew. He said he wasn’t going to tell Rafe because he knew Rafe would rush to go after Nicole. He said he wasn’t going to let that happen. She told EJ that Rafe and Nicole’s attraction was in the past. She asked why he thought Rafe would go after Nicole. He thought about Nicole telling him that she had sex with Rafe. He told Ava that their attraction was obvious. She wanted to know what was in it for him to help her. He said Nicole was helping him move on and their relationship was turning into something real. He said he wanted it to continue so it was in both of their interests to keep what she did for Kristen a secret. She asked him why he came over if he was going to keep it a secret anyway. He wanted her to know that he knew what she was up to.

Chad went to the DiMera mansion to question Chad about Kristen. Rafe said he knew Chad went to see Kristen. He said she couldn’t have gotten away on her own. Chad asked if he was accusing him of helping her. Rafe said he wasn’t accusing him. He asked if Kristen told him she was planning on running away. He said she deleted his call logs after she called Brady on his phone. Rafe said she called her accomplice. Chad gave him the phone. Rafe took the phone and left the mansion. Sami tied the guard to a chair. He ended up waking up. They got into an argument until Lucas showed up, Lucas grabbed the guard and asked who he worked for. Sami said she has been asking him that, but he won’t answer. They offer to get the guard immunity if he told them who his boss was. The guard wasn’t interested in the deal. They were going to take him to the police themselves. While they were taking him out, he pushed Sami against the wall and ran off. Lucas went after him, but he lost him. He told Sami they should go to the police, but she wanted to go home first. Allie told Tripp that Sami was kidnapped. She asked why anyone would kidnap her mother. He thought the devil did it. Allie said she thought he didn’t believe in demonic possession. He said what happened on Halloween opened his eyes. Someone knocked on the door. When Allie opened the door, it was Lucas and Sami.

Xander went to the Salem Inn. He told Gwen that Rafe suspected he helped Kristen escape. He said he wondered who helped her escape. He said Gwen was with Kristen at the same time. Gwen changed the subject. Xander and Gwen talked about dining and dashing. She said she didn’t want to do that. He said he wondered if the bad girl he fell for was gone. She said she thought he liked good girls. He wanted to know if she was talking about Sarah. Gwen said she wasn’t jealous of Sarah. She said she knew Sarah hurt him. He said Sarah was the past. He said he didn’t care why Sarah left. Gabi told Victor she would give him Gabi Chic if he made her and Jake co-CEOs. She said she would do everything she did for Gabi Chic for Titan. He said the idea was tempting, but only idiots would offer him something like Gabi Chic.

Victor decided to take Gabi’s deal. Jake hesitated. He didn’t want to give up Gabi Chic so easily. Victor said he was an idiot. He told them to leave. Jake wanted to make him a board member. He said if that didn’t happen, he could turn them down. Victor said if they couldn’t get him on board, they would finish the conversation. When Gabi and Jake left, Victor said he couldn’t believe how easy it was to manipulate them. When Gabi and Jake went home, she said they had to decide who would run Titan. She said co-CEOs was the best idea. Jake said when the plan came to fruition; she would run Titan while he would run DiMera. Abby told Chad that Kristen escaped. He wondered if she had a plan or if she improvised it. Abby said she must have had a plan, but wondered who would help her. He said he didn’t care who helped her. He wanted her to stay away from Salem. Shawn showed Chloe a bloody knife he found by Brady’s body. He thought Marlena had something to do with it. Chloe didn’t think so. She said she thought the blood on Brady’s clothes was Philip’s. She told Shawn about the issues between Brady and Philip. She said alcohol was in Brady’s system. Chloe gave Shawn Philip’s phone from Brady’s pocket. Shawn looked through Philip’s call log and saw Brady’s threatening texts. He read that Brady was going to cut Philip out of Chloe’s life if he didn’t do it himself. She said it looked bad for Brady.

Chloe found Brady passed out on the ground. She asked him what happened to him. He didn’t realize he was hit. Rafe talked to Ava about Kristen escaping from prison. He believed she had help escaping. He saw Xander and Gwen and thought he found the one who helped her escape. Chloe told Brady that he was hit in the head. Brady was slurring when he was talking. Rafe approached Xander and Gwen to find out about Kristen. He wanted to talk to him about Kristen’s escape. Gabi and Jake tried to pitch running Titan. Victor reminded them that his business is ran by his family. Gabi told him that his relatives didn’t want to run the business. He said Brady was someone who could run it. Chloe wanted to know if Brady saw Philip. Brady struggled to tell her about him. Chloe called for help for Philip.

Gwen talked to Ava about Xander going with Rafe. She was afraid he was going to get in trouble for something he didn’t do. Rafe questioned Xander about helping Kristen. Xander denied helping her. Rafe didn’t believe him. Rafe thought he helped break Kristen out of jail. Kayla checked Brady out and said that he didn’t have any signs of being hit. Gabi and Jake continued to convince Victor to let them run Titan. He reminded them about adding the spyware to his computer. He said he wouldn’t hire them because of that. Kayla questioned Chloe about Brady’s condition. She told her what she knew about Brady. Kayla said the blood that was on Brady wasn’t his. She wanted to know how Chloe found him. She told her that she was looking for Philip, but he wasn’t there. Kayla wondered if it was Philip’s blood. She said that it crossed her mind that it could be his blood. She wanted to find him so she called him. Philip’s phone was in Brady’s pocket. Kayla wanted to know what Brady was doing with Philip’s phone. Kayla got the results and told Chloe that the blood wasn’t Brady’s. Chloe knew it was Philip’s blood type.

Paulina ran into Abe at the hospital. She asked if he was there to see John. She said she saw John. Abe said he was there to see him. He wondered why she went to see John. She said she danced with the devil and lived to tell about it. Paulina told Abe that Marlena was possessed. She said the wedding falling apart was because of the devil. Abe agreed with her. He said lies came from the devil. He said the lie came from her. He walked away from her. She went after him. Abe told Paulina to stop apologizing. She tried to tell him how tough her situation was. She begged him to forgive her. She brought up Lexie and how she couldn’t compete with her. She said Lani’s father made her feel alone and trapped. She said she was proud she fought her way out and gave Lani the best life she could. He said he was done with her. She wanted him to promise her he wouldn’t turn his back on Lani. Abe told Paulina that he let Lani know he wasn’t turning his back on her. Paulina asked him about them. He said he couldn’t turn his love off for her. He said he loved her. He said that didn’t mean he would trust her. He said the lie was too big to risk his heart with her again. Lani got off the phone with Tamara when Eli came home. Lani said Tamara said she loved her. She said that meant her whole life was a lie she spread to Abe. She said she spoke to Abe and he told her he would always love her. Eli said she should believe him. She said Kristen told her the same thing. Eli was shocked that Lani spoke to Kristen. He said Kristen never made it to the prison. He said the van transporting her disappeared. Lani said she had nothing to do with it. She said she might know where Kristen was. They went to John and Marlena’s place.

John tried to get himself out of the hospital so he could find Marlena. Steve stopped him and told him the police were working on it. John wanted to know how he knew where he was. Steve said Johnny told him. Steve said he put the pieces together since he went through it once before. Steve asked if he exorcised Marlena. John thought it might not have worked since he wasn’t a real priest. Steve asked John if he knew what the devil wanted. John said he didn’t know. He thought it was a sideshow for the main attraction. He said they needed to stop her before that happened. Steve asked how did he stop it before. John said faith, hope and prayer. He said he had Father Francis and Gabriel’s help. He said he gave him the strength he needed. Marlena asked Ben and Ciara not to answer the door. It turned out to be a hiker. The man asked for water. He said religious things. He said he came out there for a spiritual reunion. He said his name was Gabriel. Marlena wasn’t happy. Gabriel confronted Marlena. She said she knew who he was and what he wanted. She asked if he sent him. Marlena’s eyes and voice didn’t bother Gabriel. Gabriel said he helped John beat her 25 years ago. He said he would do it again. Marlena told Gabriel he couldn’t interfere in human affairs. Gabriel said God wouldn’t let anything happen to Ben and Ciara’s child. Gabriel and Marlena continued to argue with each other. He said Ben and Ciara had a lot of strength.

Chloe told Philip that she knew he was fired. She wanted to know why he didn’t tell her. She said they are supposed to be a couple. She said they are supposed to tell each other good and bad things. He thought about her talking to Brady about having sex. He asked if she told him everything. She said he never let her in or made it easy for her to open up. Philip apologized for being in a funk. She wanted to go out, but he wasn’t interested. She suggested she go out to bring him something to eat. When she left, he thought she was going to have sex with Brady. Victor read about John and Susan being in the crypt. Maggie told him Marlena was possessed. She said Marlena was the one who did that to John and Susan. She said she was meeting with Brady when Belle called him to tell him. Victor was worried about Brady. She said he didn’t drink, but he was tempted. Victor blamed Chloe. Maggie told Victor it was his meddling that caused the strain between Brady and Philip. Philip was listening when Victor asked Maggie if Brady had feelings for Chloe. Philip heard Maggie say Brady thought he and Chloe could be happy if Philip weren’t in the way. Maggie said Brady wouldn’t hurt anyone. Victor said jealousy could push Brady in a bad place. Ben and Ciara brought Marlena to the cabin. Ben said Marlena would be safe there. Marlena noticed Ciara staring at her. Marlena asked if everything was okay. Ciara said she was having a hard time believing John was a monster. She said it was as if someone else was in the apartment.

Marlena understood Ciara’s confusion. Marlena said her husband was dangerous. Ciara said they should call the police and tell them what was going on. Marlena didn’t want to do that. She said the police would protect John. Ciara thought Shawn would do the right thing. Marlena took the phone from Ciara. Marlena apologized and said she was on edge. She gave Ciara back her phone when Ben said they wouldn’t call anyone. Ciara was skeptical, but she agreed not to say anything. Ciara was concerned about being far away from Salem if something happened to the baby. Marlena said she was a doctor and would take care of the baby. When Marlena stepped out, Ciara told Ben she didn’t like what was going on. She said she wanted to call Belle and Shawn so they would know what was going on with John. She said something was off. Lani told Abe she had trouble facing him. She believed it was her fault for jumped to the wrong conclusion about him being her father. She thought he wished she never came to town. He said finding out she wss his daughter was the best thing that happened to him. Tamara tried to call Lani, but she didn’t answer it. Lani couldn’t believe Tamara and Paulina let her bond with him and Theo. Abe said their bond was real. He told her about what happened between John and Roman. He said she would always be his daughter.

She asked him to get her something to eat. When he left, she took his phone. Kristen called Gwen. Kristen threatened to tell Xander about Sarah if she didn’t break her out of jail. Gwen said she would help her, but she didn’t know how. Kristen said she would get her some help. Kristen called Ava to ask for help. Ava said she wasn’t going to risk what she had with Rafe. Kristen threatened to tell Rafe about the last time she helped her escape. Kristen told her what she needed to do. Gwen lied to Xander about her call. She said she was talking to Chad. She said he was insulting her for what she did to his family. Xander said Chad should move on because he still had love in his life unlike some people. She wondered if he was talking about himself. He said he wasn’t. He said he moved on from Sarah. Ava went to see Gwen. Ava told her she was going to be working with her. EJ was by Susan’s side at the hospital. He apologized for everything. Nicole checked on him. He told her Susan was scared of the devil coming back. She asked if Susan had a breakdown. They went out in the hall to talk.

EJ told Nicole what happened with Susan. He thought it was a delusion at first, but Steve believed Susan’s story. He said after all the years he was ashamed of her, she was willing to sacrifice her life for his. EJ broke down and cried. Nicole comforted him. He was embarrassed that she saw him like that. She said it made him vulnerable and attractive. He said that didn’t get him anywhere with Sami. Nicole thought it was weird he hasn’t heard from Sami. He said he pushed her away. He said he was cruel. He said he was emotionally abusive for a year. EJ told Nicole that Sami fought for him after he gave up on life. He said he was a monster to her. He said he was grateful for what Sami has done, but he wasn’t able to tell her because he pushed her away. He said she stayed away. Nicole said it sounded as if he regretted his decision. He said he didn’t regret anything after she cheated. He said he was moving on. Sami banged on a door and demanded to be let out. A guard named Jason told her he wanted his phone back. He said he would do something worse if she didn’t. She gave it to him. She asked him to let her be with her family. She gave it back to him. He checked her phone to see who she called. She said she called her mother and husband. Jason told Sami that he reads the tabloids. He said he knew EJ dumped her. She said he would still pay the ransom. He said his boss wasn’t interested in money. She wanted to know who it was. He said she would never find out. When he left and came back to bring her food, she hit him on the back of the head. She ran out of the room.
