Days of Our Lives Update

Update written by Joseph

Johnny has a nightmare about filming Alex and Chanel’s love scene where they won’t stop kissing after he says to cut, then he wakes up in a panic.

Chanel goes to Paulina’s home to use her shower, telling her that Johnny is crazy jealous of Alex and she’s not going to put up with it.

Alex goes to Stephanie’s apartment, causing Stephanie to remember dreaming about Alex. Stephanie asks if everything is okay. Alex says he just felt bad for keeping her up late, so he brought her coffee. Alex feels like he barely slept as he spent the night stressing about the show, which is why he came back as he needs some advice from a communications pro about how to tell his producers they are making a big mistake.

Abe joins Kate at the Body and Soul studio. They talk about today being the first day of shooting. Kate tells Abe that Roman talked to Kayla about using the hospital as a set and she’s on the case. Abe says he first has some not so good news as one of their lead actors is causing problems, so they need to come up with a solution soon.

Bonnie goes to Leo’s room at the Salem Inn. Leo says he didn’t sleep last night so it’s not a good time. Bonnie demands to know where her rewrites are that she asked for, saying there is no way she’s doing Hattie’s new scenes. Leo informs her that he didn’t rewrite anymore or change any of Hattie’s scenes.

Hattie goes to the Brady Pub which is set up as a shooting location for Body and Soul. Roman greets her as Hattie excitedly talks about doing a real television show in the Pub. Hattie declares they will be putting on a real, live soap opera.

Bonnie questions Leo not making any of the changes she asked for. Leo suggests she be professional, learn the part as written, and think about how lucky she is to be a working actor. Bonnie guesses Hattie got to him to convince him not to make the changes. Leo says that Hattie had nothing to do with it, but Abe told him not to make the changes and he is his boss so he defers to him on all matters related to Body and Soul. Bonnie tells Leo that doesn’t work for her.

Abe informs Kate that Bonnie is not Hattie’s favorite person. Kate says the feeling is apparently mutual and talks about when they both picked the same dress for the photoshoot. Abe tells Kate that Hattie gave him the ultimatum that either Bonnie goes or she goes. Kate admits she was afraid that was going to happen and asks Abe’s thoughts on that. Abe has no doubts that Hattie was serious, so they have no choice but to lose one or the other.

Stephanie asks what Alex needs to talk to Abe and Kate about. Alex explains that last night, he and Chanel got their new pages for the scenes they are filming this week including Faith and Arrow’s first sex scene. Stephanie asks what the problem is. Alex argues that the sex scene on the first week of the show doesn’t make sense since they are supposed to be star-crossed lovers so it is supposed to seem like they hate each other and everything is getting in their way of being together. Alex questions who will want to keep watching if they are already together. Stephanie calls that an excellent point and asks if she talked to Chanel about it. Alex confirms that he has and she actually agreed with him for once.

Chanel tells Paulina about her argument with Johnny about her and Alex and how insulted she felt when Johnny brought up her past with Alex. Chanel feels Johnny doesn’t trust her and that’s hurtful. Paulina responds that she gets why Johnny is jealous and she doesn’t blame him.

Kate asks if Abe really thinks Hattie will quit if they don’t fire Bonnie, wondering if it’s possible that she’s bluffing. Abe asks what Kate thinks. Kate admits she doesn’t think it’s a bluff. Abe states that Hattie is holding all the cards here and they have to face that Charlemagne is the star of the show. Kate questions if she is or if she’s just Abe’s favorite character. Abe brings up the research that audiences love her. Kate argues that Cassandra is popular also. Abe says the fans love it when they are sparring, but Hattie is threatening to quit. Kate guesses it makes more sense to fire Bonnie which Abe agrees with. Kate says to imagine what they could do on the first day of taping after the mess at the photoshoot.

Hattie tells Roman that the Pub looks great. Roman talks about Body and Soul being on a tight budget and offering the Pub as a favor to Kate. Roman understands Kate will use his staff as extras so they won’t miss any days of pay. Hattie calls it a win-win all the way around, adding that she’s getting a pretty big win herself thanks to Abe.

Leo admits to Bonnie that he made some changes for Hattie but that was it for rewrites, arguing that they don’t have time to keep reworking scenes like a movie. Leo says they are under the gun time wise and have to produce an entire show in one day. Bonnie says she knows how everything has to go so fast so Leo says she should understand then. Leo then brings up the problems that Johnny is having, arguing that hot young couples have sex and fall in love on soap operas all the time and that’s what the audience is tuning in for. Leo remarks that Johnny is just going to have to grin and bear it.

Chanel questions Paulina not blaming Johnny for being jealous and asks if she thinks she actually wants to have a sex scene with Alex. Paulina brings up Chanel’s past fling with Alex, so she doesn’t blame Johnny for thinking Chanel could still have an attraction to Alex and seeing this as a hall pass type situation. Chanel argues that Johnny is the one who urged her to take this job and a job is exactly what this is. Paulina thinks Chanel needs to keep telling him that since he obviously needs some reassurance. Johnny then shows up at the door.

Stephanie tells Alex that if he and Chanel both have a problem with the scene, the best way to have it changed would be to work together. Alex agrees and decides to text Chanel to suggest they meet at Kate’s office. Stephanie gets a call from Jada and steps aside to answer it, asking what’s going on. Stephanie says she hasn’t seen the news and asks what she means that they were wrong. Stephanie is shocked and thanks Jada for telling her. Stephanie says they will talk later and hangs up. Alex asks if everything is okay. Stephanie cries that she can’t believe it as she informs Alex that Jada just told her that Everett didn’t kill himself, but he was murdered.

Abe tells Kate that he’s open to all options. Kate says to play devil’s advocate, if they give in to Hattie’s ultimatum and fire Bonnie, she thinks they are setting a dangerous precedent and letting one actor fire another so she worries about how long it could be before Hattie demands creative control. Abe suggests they could make it clear that it’s only one time. Kate asks about when the other actors find out and start making their requests. Abe admits she’s right that they can’t let that happen and they can’t let production be derailed by two angry actresses. Kate agrees that they need to nip it in the bud before it all gets out of control.

Bonnie tells Leo that she feels for Johnny as she has tangled with jealousy as well. Bonnie argues that she wants to protect her character Cassandra, so she will not have her humiliated by Charlemagne. Leo admires and appreciates her dedication to her craft, but says she has to take it up with Abe and Kate. Bonnie decides she will on the set today. Leo says he supports whatever decision they make as he hurries Bonnie out the door.

Stephanie informs Alex that it wasn’t Everett who stabbed Rafe and he didn’t die by suicide as it was Connie who attacked Rafe and poisoned Everett/Bobby, then forged the suicide note. Stephanie can’t believe she invited Connie to Everett’s funeral when she’s the one who killed him. Stephanie cries that every time she thinks she’s starting to heal, it’s like losing him all over again. Alex says he’s so sorry and hugs her as she cries. Alex tells her it’s okay. Stephanie says she’s sorry and that he should go since he needs to talk to Kate. Alex asks if she’s sure she’s okay. Stephanie responds that she’ll be fine and that she should call Jada back. Stephanie wishes him luck with his conversation. Alex thanks her and tells her to call if she needs anything. Stephanie says he’ll be working but Alex says that doesn’t matter as she is more important. Alex tells her that he will see her on set as he then exits.

Chanel asks what Johnny is doing there. Johnny says he got her note and questions her moving out of the house after one fight. Paulina asks if that’s what is happening here. Chanel argues that she just came to take a shower. Johnny thinks it’s about more than that. Chanel explains that she thought they could use space after last night. Johnny tells her that she was right in everything she said, admitting he overreacted. Johnny knows the photoshoot was all just part of the job, but when he saw her with her hands all over Alex, it brought up a lot of stuff that he didn’t know was there and he lost it for a second. Johnny tells Chanel that he’s truly sorry and asks if she can forgive him.

Roman sits with Hattie at the Pub and they go over her lines for Body and Soul. Roman jokes that it’s some pretty steamy stuff. Bonnie then enters, so Hattie questions what she’s doing there. Bonnie responds that she works on this set but Hattie argues that she’s supposed to be fired.

Chanel has Johnny promise not to get freaked out again and that he’s okay with her being an actor with a love interest. Johnny says he just wants her to shine. Chanel guesses she can forgive him. Paulina is relieved as Johnny hugs Chanel. Chanel then informs Johnny that he won’t have to direct her and Alex in a love scene this week as they are going to talk to Kate about it being too soon for Faith and Arrow to have sex. Johnny says if that’s what she wants. Chanel reiterates that he won’t have to worry about directing them in a sex scene any time soon.

Alex goes to the Body and Soul studio and asks Kate if she has a minute. Alex mentions that he wanted to wait for Chanel but she’s not around, so Kate tells him they don’t have time to wait. Alex brings up the love scene but Kate tells him to grow up, arguing that he and Chanel both said they could get past their history. Alex says it’s not that. Kate brings up the heat at the photoshoot and questions what the problem is. Alex explains that Faith and Arrow are supposed to be star-crossed lovers so he questions them already having sex at the beginning of their story. Kate says they wanted to start the show with a bang. Alex thinks they should hold off on that and make the viewers wait. Alex says if it’s okay, he and Chanel would like to not do that scene.

Abe goes to Leo’s room and says he wanted to talk to him about Bonnie and Hattie. Leo mentions that Bonnie was just there again, demanding rewrites, but he told her that Abe instructed him not to do any more changes. Abe worries that Bonnie will now be waiting for him at the set. Leo asks what he’s going to tell her. Abe responds that he and Kate talked it over, so Bonnie is going to get rewrites but not the ones that she thought she was getting.

Bonnie questions Hattie demanding the producers fire her. Hattie complains that she makes her crazy. Hattie tells Bonnie to be a team player and a good sport. Roman calls Kate as Hattie and Bonnie argue. Bonnie calls Hattie a big pain in the behind while Hattie argues that she’s the star of the show. Roman interrupts their fighting, telling them to drop the egos and be professional.

Paulina brings Johnny coffee as they sit together. Johnny apologizes for bringing her in to their mess. Paulina says it’s okay as she’s just glad they worked it out. Johnny admits he’s not proud of how he acted last night. Paulina admits he went too far but she gets it and says if she saw Abe on set in a bed with someone he shared one with before, it would’ve stirred strong feelings within her too. Johnny says it really did take him by surprise since he is the one who encouraged Chanel to audition for the show and he trusts her. Johnny thought he would be cool with it until he wasn’t. Paulina notes that it is a little bit more complicated than usual because of Chanel’s past with Alex. Paulina reminds Johnny that he is the one that Chanel chose and married, so he should be secure in that and proud of her.

Kate questions Alex and Chanel talking about getting rid of the sex scene. Alex confirms they did at the photoshoot last night. Chanel then walks in and questions Alex already being there as she thought he was going to wait for her. Alex tries to explain but Chanel guesses that he decided to handle it on his own and asks what she missed. Kate tells Chanel what Alex told her about them thinking the sex scene was too soon. Chanel agrees and asks if they can postpone it.

Leo tells Abe that he did not see this coming and asks if he’s sure about this. Abe confirms that he and Kate decided it was the best solution so he needs him to get to work on these new rewrites. Leo reminds him that once this is done, there is no going back. Abe declares this is the hand they’ve been dealt, so they will just have to play it.

Bonnie complains that Hattie is the one being unprofessional while Hattie argues that Bonnie has been telling everyone she’s the best actress who ever lived. Roman continues trying to stop them from arguing, telling them they are being foolish. Roman reminds them how lucky they are to be leads on a TV show and how hard Kate and Abe worked to rescue the show. Roman warns that if they keep this up, they will risk derailing the entire project so they both need to stop the ultimatums. Bonnie blames Hattie but Roman doesn’t want to hear it. Roman tells them that whether they like it or not, they are in this together and the show needs them both. Roman instructs them to shake hands and figure out a way to make this work. Bonnie offers her hand but Hattie declares that Pine View isn’t big enough for the both of them.

Stephanie goes to Paulina’s, who says she’s not even her first or second unexpected visitor this morning. Stephanie wanted to drop off the bios of the members in her new housing task force. Paulina points out that she asked for those awhile ago. Stephanie apologizes for not getting it done sooner as it’s been a tough few weeks personally and she’s been busy with Body and Soul. Paulina admits that she would usually chew her out for letting her down, but because it’s Abe’s show, she can give her a pass. Stephanie mentions it being a lot more complicated than she thought and asks how Abe is doing. Paulina says Abe is fine, but this morning she had to referee an argument between Chanel and Johnny about some steamy love scene. Stephanie mentions that she got an earful from Alex about it. Paulina asks what he said about it. Stephanie explains that Alex didn’t want to do it and was going to talk to Kate about it this morning, so hopefully he and Chanel can work something out.

Johnny joins Alex and Chanel at the studio and asks if they talked to Kate. They confirm they did and said they didn’t want to do the love scene as they believe it’s too soon for their characters, but Chanel reveals that Kate said their arguing just reminded her of how sparks fly when they are together so the love scene is still on.

Kate and Abe meet in the town square. Kate tells Abe that she already put out the first fire of the day and now she’s headed to the set. Kate asks Abe if he talked to Leo. Abe confirms that he did and he was surprised there was no pushback as Leo is making the changes they requested. Abe adds that Bonnie is getting her rewrites as they speak.

Roman declares that he tried and tells Bonnie and Hattie not to kill each other in his restaurant as he walks away. Leo arrives, so Bonnie asks if he decided on the rewrites. Leo reveals that it’s not up to him but he met with Abe and he does have new rewrites. Bonnie says she’s glad they came to their senses but Leo is not sure she will feel that way after reading them. Leo asks her not to shoot the messenger. Bonnie asks what he’s going on about. Leo then shows her the new script leading to Bonnie being shocked to learn that they are killing her character off the show.

Daytime Soap Opera Short Recaps

B&B logo

Recap written by Suzanne

In Steffy’s office, Finn and Steffy kiss. He assures her again that he only has eyes for her, not Hope. Eric comes in, and they chat about the photo shoot. They (mostly Eric) talk about the Brooke’s Bedroom line, and how it’s great for Ridge, who seems happy. Steffy thinks that Taylor is the reason Ridge is doing well, and they agree. Finn talks about how much the kids love having her around. Later, Finn and Steffy discuss Taylor, alone. Steffy is very glad to have her mom home and hopes she stays. She feels more relaxed with her around. Finn is happy for her.

In Hope’s office, she and Carter continue to flirt, since he thinks she should model lingerie to tie in HFTF with Brooke’s Bedroom. They talk about their past office romances and how badly they turned out. They agree that it’s a bad idea, but it’s obvious that they’re attracted to each other (as they grin foolishly). Eric comes in and talks about the Brooke’s Bedroom line briefly. They smile at each other behind him. He leaves them alone. Hope promises Carter that she’ll think about the modeling idea.

At Il Giardino, Katie and Will share a meal. They talk at length about Bill. Will pours out his heart about how much it affected him before when Bill didn’t treat her well, and he doesn’t want him to do that again. He reminds her that he’s fine if they don’t get back together. He also doesn’t want to be anything like “Dollar Bill” in life or business. She’s glad to hear him being honest with her. He tells her at the end that he’s transferring to a local school, which makes her very happy. They hug.

Ridge helps Taylor revive and stand up after her fall at Forrester. He wants to get her to a hospital, but she tells him that she won’t go. She also warns him not to tell Steffy. She makes excuses about why she fainted, but he doesn’t believe her. He presses her for details, so she tells him that she already saw a doctor in Europe. She tells him to make sure to take care of Steffy. Now he’s really worried, so she tells him, reluctantly, that she has heart failure and is dying.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[gentle music]

Do you have any idea how long I’ve dreamed of this moment?

Me too, darling. And now the moment is here.

It’s even better than I imagined.

No more talking. Just show me. Show me how much you love me, Arrow. Show me how much you want me.

Annnd cut. Great, guys. Very, very believable. Uh, guys? Hey, guys, you can stop now. I said, “Cut.” Guys! Hey!

[thumps nightstand] Hey! I’m the director, and I said, “Cut!” Stop!

[breathing heavily]

[somber music]

Chanel!

Oh, good. I didn’t wake you.

Wake me? I’ve been up for hours. Oh, but, uh, honey, aren’t you starting the soap today?

Yeah, I am, so, uh, I was hoping that I could use your shower.

Why? What’s wrong with yours?

Oh, nothing. It’s what’s wrong with my husband. He, for no good reason, is crazy jealous of Alex Kiriakis, and I am not gonna put up with it.

Alex.

Hey.

[gentle stirring music]

[laughs]

[echoing] You and I, we have an amazing chemistry, don’t we?

[echoing] Mm. Off the charts, baby. Which is why we don’t have to act. This heat between us, it’s real.

It’s very real.

Everything okay?

Yeah, yeah. It’s all good. Just felt bad about keeping you up late last night, so I brought you a coffee.

Oh, you didn’t have to do that. But I am grateful for the caffeine boost.

Ah.

[laughs] So how early did you get up today?

Mm. I feel like I barely slept at all. My predictions were right. I spent the night tossing and turning, stressing about the show.

Mm. I’m sorry to hear that.

Mm. That’s actually why I came by. I need some advice from a communications pro.

Oh. Advice about what?

How to tell my producers they’re making a big mistake.

[pensive music]

Hey, good morning, Kate.

Good morning on this very first day of shooting.

Is it? I–you know, I forgot.

Oh, come on. Don’t even start with me. We have so much riding on today.

[laughs] I’m just trying to lighten the mood. That’s it.

I know. I appreciate it. And actually, we do have some good news this morning.

Oh? What is it?

Yeah. Well, you remember I told you Roman talked to Kayla about using the hospital for a set? She is absolutely on the case.

Oh, great. That’s great. That’s great. Um, you know, before we get over to the set, I have some not-so-good news.

Oh, no. What is it?

One of our lead actors is causing problems. So we have to come up with a solution, soon.

[mysterious jazz music]

Bonnie, in spite of taking the highest recommended dose of melatonin and practically OD’ing on valerian tea–

Where are they?

I was gonna say, I didn’t sleep a wink last night, so this isn’t a good time.

Ugh. Where are they?

Ugh! Where are who?

Not who. What? Where are the pink pages I asked for?

I thought you wanted me to un-pink the original pink pages.

I did. So– so what do you call them?

Well, they’re still pink pages.

Hmm. Confusing. Anyway, I need them right now because there’s no way I’m doing those new Hattie scenes.

Look, there are no new pink pages, only the old pink pages.

What? Why?

Well, because, look, as much as I want my wonderful actors to feel creatively fulfilled and inspired to give their best performances, and more importantly, to leave me be so I can get on with writing the damn show, I didn’t change any of the Hattie scenes– not a one.

Hey, Hattie.

[chuckles]

Hey, Roman. Boy, isn’t this excitin’? I mean, look at this. You got–you got lights everywhere. You got–you got cameras. Wow. We’re gonna be doing a-a real television show right here in the pub.

Definitely something I could never have predicted.

Yeah. Well, I guess you can scratch this off your bucket list, huh? ‘Cause we are gonna be putting on a real live soap opera!

[bright funky music]

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

You didn’t make any of the changes I asked for?

Um, did I not just tell you that I didn’t? So I would suggest being professional, Ms. Kiriakis. Learn the part as written, and think about how lucky you are to be a working actor.

[laughs mockingly] You must think I’m a real idiot.

What does that have to do with anything?

Hattie gotta you, didn’t she? Your little “Drag Race” buddy, she whispered sweet somethings into your ear and convinced you not to make those changes.

That’s not what happened.

Oh, no?

No. Hattie had nothing to do with this.

Mm-hmm.

Abe Carver, our executive producer, is the one who told me not to make the changes. And since he is not only my boss but also the husband of the mayor and the man who signs my paychecks, I do defer to him on all matters related to both “Body & Soul.”

[scoffs] Yeah, right. But not in all matters related to one Hattie Adams. And let me tell you this– that doesn’t work for me, Mr. Head Writer.

Well, you know that Bonnie is not Hattie’s favorite person.

Well, apparently, the feeling is mutual. You should have seen the two of them when they discovered they picked the same dress. I mean, for a minute, I thought I wasn’t producing “Body & Soul.” I was producing “Crazy Ladies of the Wrestling World.”

[chuckles] Well, you know, I did run into Hattie afterwards. And, uh… she gave me an ultimatum. Either Bonnie goes or she goes.

Oh, no. Yeah, I was afraid that was gonna happen. So, I mean, any thoughts about that?

I have no doubts that Hattie was serious. So we have no choice but to lose one or the other.

[pensive music]

So what is it you need to talk to Abe and Kate about?

Ah. Well, last night, Chanel and I got our new pages for the scenes that we’re shooting together this week, including Faith and Arrow’s first sex scene.

And what’s the problem?

The problem is, they’re shooting the first sex scene the first week of the show. It doesn’t even make sense. I mean, Faith and Arrow are supposed to be, like, star-crossed lovers, right?

Yeah, yeah, from what I understand.

Okay, meaning that it has to seem like at first they hate each other and that everything is getting in their way of finally sleeping together.

Enemies to lovers– classic trope.

Exactly. So if it just happens right away, where’s the anticipation? You know, I mean, if they are already together, who’s gonna wanna keep watching?

You–you make an excellent point.

Hmm.

Have you talked to Chanel about it?

Yes, I have. And she actually agrees with me, for once.

And then Johnny has the nerve to suggest that I actually enjoyed putting my hands all over Alex during the photo shoot. And, Mama, that was just so insulting to me.

Obviously.

Yeah. And you know what else he said?

I have a feeling you’re going to tell me.

He said that he bet that it reminded me of the night that Alex and I had spent together.

Oh, Lord.

[sighs] And on top of all of that, he was all freaked out because Alex and I said that we wanted to wait to talk to Kate about not doing the sex scene. And he thought it was because I had changed my mind.

He thought you wanted to do the sex scene?

He said that he thinks that pretending to have sex with Alex for me would be, like, the next best thing to actually doing it. Well, tho–those weren’t his exact words. But still, Mama, he doesn’t trust me. And that’s just hurtful, you know? Uh, and–and why aren’t you saying anything?

Because–no. While I don’t like hearing that Johnny doesn’t trust you, I-I get why he’s jealous. And I sure as hell don’t blame him.

Do you really think it’s possible that Hattie will quit if we don’t fire Bonnie? I mean, isn’t it possible that she’s bluffing?

Well, you were there ringside for the showdown. So you think it was a bluff?

Mm, no. No, I think it was a giant headache.

Hattie is holding all the cards here. I mean, we–we have to face it. Charlemagne is the star of the show.

Is she? Or is she just your favorite character?

[laughs] Well, I have to admit that I do have a special place in my heart for Ms. Delacroix. But have–have you seen the research? I mean, the audiences love her.

Well, I mean, Kassandra is popular also.

Yes, yes. And the fans just love it when Charlemagne and Kassandra are sparring. But… Hattie’s threatening to quit.

So it makes more sense to fire Bonnie.

Yeah. Yeah, it does.

Right. Well, with the mess they made at the photo shoot, can imagine what they could do on the first day of taping.

[chuckles]

Yeah, I gotta say, Roman, place looks great. I mean, not exactly like the Pineview Pub, but–

Hattie, you do know the Pineview Pub is not real.

Yeah. I know that. I-I’m just saying that the two places look pretty different, you know.

Okay, well, this new version of “Body & Soul” is, uh, on a tight budget. That’s why I offered the use of the pub as a favor to my wife.

That was real generous of you, Roman. I’m sure they’re glad to save a few beans here and there.

It did. From what I understand, And Kate is gonna use my pub staff as extras so they’re not gonna miss any days of pay.

Well, there you go. It’s a win-win all the way around! And–and I’m getting a-a pretty big win myself, thanks to Abe.

Okay, look, I did make some changes for Hattie, but that was it. Swan song to rewrite. This is a soap opera, Bonnie. We don’t have time to keep reworking scenes. It’s not like a movie, where you have a month to shoot one scene. I heard it took them three years to make “Apocalypse Now.”

You’re kidding.

I’m not. Can you believe that? Okay. Let’s–let’s stay on topic, though. And the topic is that we are under the gun time-wise. We have to produce an entire show in one day.

Okay. I know that. I have a subscription to “Soap Opera Digest,” okay? I know how everything has to go so fast these days.

Great, great.

[sighs]

That’s really great. So let’s keep that in mind and not slow things down. And you may wanna get a subscription to “Soap Opera Digest” for our director.

Johnny’s complaining now too?

Oh, is he ever. I mean, has that man been living under a rock? Does he not know full well that hot young couples on soap operas fall in love, have hot, passionate sex, all while whispering schmaltzy little nothings into each other’s ears? And that is what the audience is tuning in for! Arrow, aka Alex Kiriakis, is gonna ravish Faith, aka Chanel DiMera, and Johnny DiMera is just gonna have to grin and bear it.

Mother!

“Mother!” What?

You–you don’t blame Johnny for being jealous because what? You think that I actually want to have a sex scene with him? I am a married woman.

Who had, in the not-so-distant past, a fling, if you will, with her costar.

Okay, so what?

So, well, in Johnny’s mind it’s not completely crazy if you still feel some kind of attraction to Alex and saw this as some kind of a hall-pass situation.

Okay, okay. First of all, Mama, that is not what a hall pass is. And second of all, Johnny was the one who urged me to take this job. So he, of all people, should understand that that is exactly what this is– it’s a job and nothing more.

Well, then you need to keep telling him that, because he obviously needs some reassurance.

[knocking on door]

[sighs]

[soft tense music]

So if both you and Chanel have a problem with the scene, sounds like to me, the best way to have it changed would be to work together.

Mm. No, you’re probably right. I’ma send her a text, suggest that we meet over at Kate’s office.

[phone ringing]

Oh, you mind if I take this? It’s Jada.

Yeah, go ahead. I should probably study my lines anyway.

Hey, Jada, what’s going on?

[unsettling music] No, I haven’t seen the news. What is it? What–what do you mean, “We were wrong”? Oh, my God. No, no. Thank you for telling me. Uh, yeah. Yeah, we’ll talk later.

Is everything okay?

I-I can’t believe it.

What?

Jada just told me that Everett didn’t kill himself.

What do you mean?

He was murdered.

What do you say I play devil’s advocate, just for a minute?

Well, go ahead. I’m open to all options.

Okay. And–and trust me, seriously, I am not looking for a redo of the photo shoot at all.

But?

But if we give in to Hattie’s ultimatum and fire Bonnie, I think we’re setting a dangerous precedent. We are effectively letting one actress fire another actress. How long is it gonna be before she demands creative control?

Oh, we can make it clear that this is only for the one time.

Oh, really? And what about when the other actors find out and they start making their requests?

Oh boy. Yeah. Yeah, you’re right. We can’t let that happen. And, um, we can’t let production be derailed by two angry actresses.

That’s right. We need to nip it in the bud before it all gets out of control.

I feel for Johnny. I really do. I have tangled with the green-eyed monster a time or two myself, and I tell you, once that jealousy takes hold, sometimes it’s hard to see straight.

Well, I’m the last person you should talk to about seeing anything straight, so I should get back to work.

Not so fast. We haven’t figured this out.

Figured out what?

Kassandra.

What about her?

I need to protect her.

She isn’t real, Bon Bon. You do know that, right?

My job as an actress is to give her dignity and life, and I will not have her humiliated by the likes of Charlemagne.

Okay, I admire and appreciate your dedication to your craft, albeit it is making me want to tear my hair out. Like I told you, you have to take it up with Abe and Kate.

You know what? Fine. I’ll take it up with Abe and Kate. I’ll take it up with them on the set.

Great.

Today.

Great. That’s wonderful. You do that. And since I don’t wanna lose my job, do you tell them that I support whatever decision they make. I think they are both absolutely marvelous and wonderful people, and I am in awe of their brilliance.

What a suck-up.

Yeah, I am. You oughta try it sometime.

Huh?

Bye-bye. Bye-bye.

[sighs]

So it wasn’t Everett who stabbed Rafe? And he didn’t die by suicide?

No. According to Jada, it was this Connie woman. She attacked Rafe. She poisoned Everett… Bobby. And then she forged that note.

My God.

To think that I invited that monster to his funeral, and she’s the one who killed him. Every time that I think that I’m starting the healing process, it’s like I’m– it’s like I’m losing him all over again.

[gentle music]

[cries]

Steph, I’m so sorry. I’m sorry.

[sobs]

I’m sorry. It’s okay.

Sorry. You should go. I know you need to talk to Kate.

Are you sure you’re okay?

[sighs] I’ll be fine. Really. I should call Jada back anyway. Good luck with your conversation.

Thank you. If you need me, you call me, whatever you need, okay?

You’ll be– you’ll be working.

It doesn’t matter. You’re more important.

Thank you.

I’ll see you on set.

What are you doing here?

I got your note. We have one fight, and you move out of the house?

No.

What? Moving out? Is–is that what’s happening here?

No, I was not moving out. I just came to take a shower.

Oh, really? ‘Cause the last time I checked, there’s plenty of hot water at the mansion, so I think this is about a little more than a shower, no?

Well, after last night, I thought that we could both use a little space.

Yeah. Well, you were right.

Excuse me?

I said, “You were right.”

About what? Us needing space?

No, uh… last night, everything you said, you were right, okay? I-I-I overreacted.

Mm, yeah. You’re damn straight you did.

Chanel, the man is trying to apologize.

I am. I am. Okay, look. I know that the photo shoot was all just part of the job. All right? It’s just when I saw you with your hands all over Alex, it brought up a lot of stuff that I didn’t even know was there. And I lost it for a second. But I truly am sorry. Can you forgive me?

[soft music]

“You can’t mean this, Charlemagne.”

“But I do, Thrust. “And yes, you being Rhett’s twin brother “might complicate things just a bit. “But what I feel for you transcends “any and all obstacles we face. “So please, take me, Thrust. Take me right now.”

Ha. Damn, Hattie. There’s some pretty, uh, steamy stuff here.

Oh, tell me about it.

[quirky music] Oh, no.

What is it?

What the heck are you doing here?

I work on this set.

[laughs]

I don’t think so. You’re supposed to be fired.

[soft pensive music]

You promise not to get all freaked out like that again?

I promise.

And you’re really okay with me being an actor with a love interest?

I am. I just want you to shine.

Hmm. Well, then I guess I can forgive you.

Thank the Lord.

[chuckles] And just FYI, you are not gonna have to direct me and Alex in a love scene this week.

I’m not?

I told you that we were gonna talk to Kate because we think it’s too soon for Arrow and Faith to have sex.

Okay. If that’s what you want.

Yes, it is. So you don’t have to worry. You won’t be directing us in a love scene. At least not anytime soon.

Yeah.

Kate, you got a minute?

On the first day of shooting, it better be just a minute.

Okay, well, you haven’t seen Chanel around, have you?

No. Why?

Well, we wanted to talk to you about something together, but clearly, she’s not here, so I’ll, uh– I’ll wait.

No, no, there’s not enough time to wait. Just give me the gist.

Okay, well, uh, Chanel and I both feel that the love scene that you added feels a little rushed.

Could you just– could you just grow up, okay? I know the two of you have a history, but you promised us that you could get past that.

Yeah, it’s not that.

Okay, you know something? At the photo shoot the other day, there was a lot of heat going on, ’cause it fogged up the camera lens–

I get that. And that’s great. But–

Okay, so what’s the problem? Just tell me.

The problem is, Faith and Arrow are supposed to be, like, star-crossed lovers, right?

Uh-huh.

Okay. Well, it’s the beginning of their story, and they’re already having sex?

Yes. Yes. We wanted to start the show with a bang, so to speak.

Yeah. Okay, well, maybe it would be okay and–and better if we held off on the bang part, you know? You know, give the viewers something to look forward to, let it build up, keep the viewers watching.

Oh, make them wait?

Yes.

Mm.

So if it is okay with you, Chanel and I would like to not do that scene. – Hello, Leo.

Well, if it isn’t the powerful and endlessly creative executive producer of “Body & Soul.” Shouldn’t you be on set for the first day of shooting?

I am gonna be heading over there soon, but I wanted to talk to you first. It’s about Bonnie and Hattie.

Ugh. I should have known. Bonnie was just here, again.

Well, what did she want this time?

New pink pages.

And what did you tell her?

The truth, that you instructed me not to undo any of Hattie’s changes.

And how’d she take it?

Mm. Kinda like Susie Gooch in “The Blair Witch Project” after she and the rest of the group discovered the effigies of this humanoid stick figure suspended in the trees. And now that she knows it’s your idea…

Damn it. And she’s going to be waiting for me at the set.

What are you gonna tell her?

Kate and I, we talked it over.

And?

And she’s going to get new pink pages, just not the ones she thought she was getting.

[mysterious jazz music]

You went behind my back and demanded the producers fire me?

You bet I did. ‘Cause you make me crazy.

Ha! You were crazy long before I came along!

Hey, have you ever heard of being a team player? Or wait a minute, something really novel for you, a good sport. ‘Cause when the producers tell you to do something, you’re just meant to do it.

Not if those boneheaded changes were made by boneheaded you.

Katie, Katie. Come on, pick up. Pick up.

And let me tell you something else, honey, You may think you’re all that ’cause you have the most lines, but I’ll tell you something. You’re nothing but a big pain in the behind!

I’ll tell you what I am, baby. I am the star of this show.

Not if the fans don’t like your hammy acting!

Hammy?

Hammy!

Hammy? Why don’t you…

Hammy!

Make up a fancy word like “hammy”?

Oh-ho-ho! You know what? I wanna see you make me take this–

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey! That’s enough. All right? Drop the egos and be professional. You think you can do that?

Here you go.

Thank you.

Mm-hmm. I made a whole pot before I realized Abraham was already out the house before the crack of dawn.

Yeah, then you got a couple of unexpected early-morning visitors. I’m sorry, by the way, for bringing you into our mess.

Mm. That’s okay. I’m just glad you and Chanel worked it out.

Yeah, me too. I gotta say, I’m–I’m not proud of the way that I acted last night.

Yeah, well, yeah, you– you went too far. But, hey, you know what? I get it. I get it. If I saw Abraham sharing a bed onscreen with someone who he’d shared it with in real life, oh, that would have stirred some strong feelings for me too.

Yeah. You know, I just– those feelings, they–they– they really did take me by surprise. And I’m the one who encouraged Chanel to audition for the show, and I trust her. I do. You know, I–so I really– I thought I was gonna be cool with it… all the way until I wasn’t.

[chuckles] Well, it is a little bit more complicated than the usual on-set situation.

You mean because of… her past with Alex?

Yes, that’s just what I mean. But, Johnny, you’re the one she chose, the one she married. So be secure in that, okay? And just be very proud of your very talented wife who adores you.

So you and Chanel talked about getting rid of the sex scene, did you?

Yes, we did. Last night at the photo shoot.

[knocking on door]

Hey, Kate. Your assistant wasn’t at her– oh. You’re here already.

Yeah.

I thought you were gonna wait for me.

Uh, well, I was. But then Kate called me in.

Then you decided to handle it on your own.

Chanel.

Ugh. Never mind. So, um, what did I miss?

Well, Alex was telling me how both of you decided that the love scene was happening too soon.

Yes. Yes, I totally agree with that. And so can we postpone it?

Wow. I did not see that coming. Are you sure about this?

Kate and I feel this is the best solution, so you’ll just have to get to work on those new pink pages.

If you say so, boss, but I feel like I need to remind you, once you hand out those pages, there is no going back.

I know that.

I mean really no going back.

I-I-I got it, Leo. I’ve got it. This is the hand we’ve been dealt. So we’ll just have to play it.

She’s the one being unprofessional, acting all better than everyone.

I said, “Stop.”

Yeah. You know what? Soon as she got the job, she ran around telling everybody that she’s a– she’s a diva. She’s the best actress that ever lived. What a–

Well, I bet I am better. I’m sure all you’re gonna do is mug it up and chew the scenery.

Okay, stop. Stop right now. Do you realize how foolish you’re being?

There’s only one fool here.

You got that right.

Okay, take a breath. Take a breath, both of you. Okay, do you know how lucky you are? You’re the leads on a TV show. Do you know how many people, how many struggling actors, would give anything to be in your position? Do you know that? And do you know how hard Kate and Abe worked to rescue this show, not to mention all the dedicated writers, directors, cast, and crew?

Yeah, they’re the heroes.

Yes, they are. Yes, they are. And if you keep this up, you’re gonna risk derailing this entire project.

Tell her that.

I’m telling you both, ’cause you both need to stop these ultimatums.

But she’s the one who keeps making the ulti–

I don’t wanna hear it, Bonnie.

You heard him.

Or from you.

He don’t wanna hear it.

Or from you either. And whether you like it or not, you’re in this together. The show needs both of you. So shake hands and figure out a way to make this work.

[tense music]

Aah! Sorry! Pineview’s not big enough for both of us.

[sighs]

Stephanie.

Sorry I didn’t call ahead.

Oh.

I-I hope it’s not too early.

Mm. Believe it or not…

[laughs] You’re not my first unexpected visitor this morning. Not even my second. Uh, what brings you by?

I–uh, I wanted to drop off the bios you asked for on all the members of your new housing task force.

Oh. Thank you. But didn’t I ask for these a while ago?

You did. I am so sorry that I didn’t get it done sooner. It’s been a tough few weeks for me personally. Plus, I’ve been busy with “Body & Soul.”

Mm, well, I would normally chew you out for letting me down, but since it is my husband’s TV show, I suppose I can give you a pass.

Thank you.

Mm-hmm.

It’s been a lot more complicated than I thought it would be.

Mm. You’re telling me.

[laughs] How’s Abe doing?

Oh, no, Abraham? Oh, he’s fine. He’s fine. It’s just that this morning, I refereed my daughter and son-in-law’s argument over some steamy, steamy love scene.

Oh, that. Yeah, I got an earful from Alex about it too.

Oh. Do tell. Well, what is his take?

Well, he doesn’t wanna do it. In fact, he was heading over to Kate’s this morning to talk to her about it. Hopefully, he and Chanel can work something out.

“It doesn’t mean we can just go on as if nothing has changed because…”

Hey. both: Hey.

So did you guys talk to Kate?

We did.

And we explained that we didn’t wanna do the love scene. We believe that it’s just happening too soon for our characters.

Okay, great. So it’s off?

No, uh, she said that our arguing just reminded her of how sparks fly whenever we’re together, and so it’s still on.

[clears throat]

[pensive music]

[gentle music]

Well, good morning, Kate.

Ah, this is perfect timing. I already put out the first fire of the day. Now I’m headed over to the set.

Ah. Do I need to know?

Well, maybe later.

[laughs]

So did you, um, talk to Leo?

I did. I did.

How’d that go?

He was surprised, but there was no pushback. And he’s making the changes we requested.

Good. So it’s done?

Yep, it is. So Bonnie is getting her pink pages as we speak.

All right. I tried. Don’t kill each other in my restaurant. The paperwork would be a nightmare.

Leo, you’re here.

Oh, did you decide to un-pink those pages?

Well, like I told you, it isn’t up to me. But I did have a meeting with Abe, and I do have new pink pages for you.

New pages.

So glad you all decided to come to your senses.

I’m not sure you’ll feel that way after you read them, but please don’t shoot the messenger or even hate him, because this particular messenger, aka the head writer, is a people pleaser and hates being hated, even though you’d never know it from his behavior, at times anyway.

What are you going on about?

[unsettling music]

Oh, no. No. What the? You’re killing me off? [shrilly] You’re killing me off?

Update

Update written by Joseph

Alex goes to Stephanie’s apartment and says he just wanted to thank her for all her hard work for the photoshoot. Alex says he’ll see her tomorrow but Stephanie stops him and says that Eric just sent over some of the proofs from the shoot if he wants to stay and take a look.

Johnny joins Chanel in their bedroom. Chanel informs him that Stephanie just e-mailed her some of Eric’s proofs from the photoshoot and shows Johnny. Johnny calls the photos fantastic and says that Chanel looks gorgeous in all of them. Johnny then comes across a photo of Chanel with Alex and says even that one.

Fiona joins Sarah in her room and asks if there’s anything she can do for her. Sarah says no. Fiona mentions checking on Victoria and asks where Xander is. Sarah responds that there’s something she should know about Brady.

Xander sneaks in to Brady’s bedroom and says it looks like the drug did his job, so now all he has to do is put the gun in Brady’s hand and pull the trigger. Xander remarks that his only regret is that he won’t feel the pain or torment that he inflicted upon Sarah. Jada then arrives and questions what’s going on here. Xander claims that he came to offer Brady his support but found him passed out like this and asks what she’s doing here. Jada reveals that she just got a call from Sarah with some rather shocking information.

Alex tells Stephanie that Eric got some really great shots. Stephanie calls him a talented photographer and comments on a photo of Chanel and Alex. Alex remarks that it looks like they’re actually in love instead of hating each other’s guts. Stephanie calls that the point of acting. Alex jokes that’s why they pay them the big bucks because it can be very challenging.. Alex hopes they are happy with the photos. Stephanie assures that they will be thrilled, but she’s not sure Johnny will be.

Chanel tells Johnny that Eric did an amazing job since from the photos, you would never guess they can’t stand each other. Johnny admits he was a little thrown when he walked in and saw them getting along so well, but he was very impressed with her acting ability. Chanel suggests maybe Alex isn’t such a jerk after all and says they talked and he agrees that it’s way too soon for the love making scene which surprises Johnny. Chanel says they both just wish the head writer Leo would postpone it. Johnny says he tried talking to Leo about rewriting the script but he was having none of it. Chanel responds that she can’t believe he did that and questions why he would go behind her back like that.

Sarah informs Fiona that Xander told her that she and Brady had a fling. Fiona assures that she had no idea that Brady was Xander’s nephew nor could she have predicted he would drive drunk and cause such a terrible accident. Fiona remarks that Brady seemed like such a good man. Sarah insists that he is and he just made a terrible mistake which is why she’s so grateful that Fiona stopped Xander from attacking Brady with a baseball bat. Fiona knows Xander has a history with his temper and insists that she is appalled by what Brady did to her. Fiona adds that she and Brady are over as she wants nothing more to do with him. Sarah is sure Xander will be happy about that but says that’s not what she wanted to talk about. Sarah reveals that she decided to be proactive in preventing Xander from going through with his vigilante justice by sending the police to Brady’s house, so they should be there now.

Jada wakes Brady up and comments that he’s really wasted. Jada reveals that Sarah told her to get here right away. Xander thinks back to telling Sarah about his plan. Xander asks Jada what exactly Sarah said. Jada reveals that Sarah told her that she remembers seeing Brady behind the wheel on the night of the accident.

Fiona questions Sarah knowing now that Brady was behind the wheel on the night of the accident. Sarah claims it suddenly all came back to her and she could very clearly see Brady’s face in the driver’s seat, so she called the police to let them know she would testify to that fact and that they should get to Brady’s home immediately before someone else gets hurt.

Jada comments to Brady that it looks like he’s been drinking. Brady says he doesn’t do that anymore and insists that he’s sober. Jada tells him that she’s going to have to take him to the police station. Brady argues that he didn’t even drive home. Jada reveals that she’s arresting him for Sarah’s hit and run which pleases Xander.

Alex questions Stephanie thinking Johnny will have a bad reaction to their photos even though they were just acting. Alex adds that Johnny is going to be directing them so he’s going to have to get used to seeing them like that at some point. Stephanie notes that Alex didn’t see Johnny’s face when he walked in to the shoot and he was not happy. Alex calls that crazy, insisting they were just acting and Chanel hates his guts so there’s nothing to worry about. Stephanie says they know that but maybe it’s just hard for Johnny because he’s jealous or insecure. Alex hopes he gets over it at some point because he and Chanel were in character and that’s all. Alex admits he’s surprised that he and Chanel seemed to get along better at the photoshoot, feeling she was actually friendly and he responded in a kind way. Alex wonders if them getting along will ruin their on-screen chemistry since Abe asked him to audition after seeing he and Chanel at each other’s throats.

Johnny reminds Chanel that he’s the director so he’s allowed to confer with the head writer. Chanel questions when Johnny went to talk to Leo. Johnny questions why it matters and why she’s so upset since she even said she was unhappy with the scene and was going to call Leo herself. Chanel argues that she was going to call Leo about her scene with her character but Johnny beat her to it and went behind her back which she calls unethical. Johnny questions why she keeps saying he went behind her back, arguing that he was having her back and looking out for her. Chanel complains that he was trying to change her character’s part of the script. Johnny doesn’t understand since Chanel was just saying Alex agreed that the love scene was too soon but now he’s the bad guy for trying to have it changed. Chanel argues that it was not his place as she and Alex are the ones that have to act in the scene. Johnny reminds her that he’s the director so he has every right to talk to the writer about any scenes. Chanel remarks that they both know that’s not why he went to talk to Leo. Johnny explains that he did it because she said she was uncomfortable with the scene. Chanel argues that she and Alex decided to talk to Kate and then decided to wait. Johnny questions the wait when the scene shoots in three days. Johnny then questions if Chanel changed her mind and if her and Alex are getting along now after the photoshoot and she decided it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to have a love scene with her new co-star.

Alex thanks Stephanie for showing him the photos and says he will let her get some sleep. Stephanie suggests he get some rest too before a big day tomorrow. Alex says that’s kind of the problem which she questions. Alex says he probably shouldn’t admit it but he’s a little nervous about tomorrow, so he’s too amped to sleep. Stephanie says she gets that. Stephanie invites Alex to join her in watching one more episode of Ted before bed which Alex accepts.

Eric goes to the police station and asks Jada what’s going on as he got a call from Marlena, saying a neighbor saw her taking Brady out of the house in handcuffs. Jada confirms to Eric that she arrested Brady for Sarah’s hit and run. Eric thought EJ decided there wasn’t enough evidence. Jada reveals there’s been a new development as Sarah remembered what happened.

Fiona questions Sarah just remembering what happened tonight. Xander then walks in. Sarah informs him that she was just telling Fiona how the memory of seeing Brady behind the wheel on the night of the accident just came back to her. Xander says he just found out himself and asks Fiona to check on Victoria for him, so she exits. Xander informs Sarah that Jada just showed up at Brady’s place and told him what she told her. Sarah is relieved as she was scared that Jada wouldn’t show up in time. Xander asks for the truth as he questions if she really remembered seeing Brady. Sarah admits that she was lying as she felt she had no other choice to stop Xander from killing Brady.

Chanel tells Johnny that now she’s even more insulted if he thinks she wants to have a sex scene with Alex just because she was civil with him at the photoshoot. Johnny argues that she was totally against the scene and now it seems she’s totally cool with it. Johnny comments that he shouldn’t be surprised since Chanel had her hands all over Alex at the photoshoot and remarks that it wouldn’t be the first time. Chanel questions what that’s supposed to mean. Johnny argues that maybe it brought back memories of her last time having sex with Alex and that she decided it wouldn’t be so bad to have a recreation for the cameras. Johnny asks what’s a little simulated sex between friends. Chanel decides Johnny doesn’t deserve an explanation after that unfair explanation he came up with. Chanel tells him that she and Alex decided to wait to talk to Kate because it was getting late and they decided it would be better to wait until the next day. Chanel tells Johnny to think what he wants because she already feels disrespected, so he might as well double down.

Alex talks to Stephanie about the episode of Ted and relates to hs own acting, but Stephanie falls asleep next to him on the couch. Stephanie dreams about being with Alex and then wakes up in a panic. Alex comments that she was obviously dreaming. Stephanie claims there was a peacock in her dream which Alex credits to watching Ted on Peacock. Alex asks if Stephanie was dreaming about Ted. Stephanie says no, but Alex says whatever she was dreaming about seemed intense as she was mumbling but he couldn’t make out what she was saying. Alex then asks Stephanie what she was dreaming about.

Xander tells Sarah that he thought it was a bit of a coincidence that she suddenly remembered seeing Brady, just in time to send the cops over, but admits he’s a little surprised that she was able to bring herself to lie to the police, given how she reacted when he suggested doing it. Sarah complains that he gave her no choice and asks if he thought she would just go home and go to bed after he told her that he was going to murder Brady, then make it look like a suicide. Xander argues that it was the only way to get justice for what he did to her. Sarah says apparently not since she came up with a better solution. Sarah realized that if she just remembered seeing Brady behind the wheel, then the police would have no choice but to arrest him while Brady wouldn’t die, Xander wouldn’t go to prison for murder, and they could get the justice he’s been seeking. Sarah calls it the only way to save Xander and Brady both. Sarah declares that she will have to live with the lie, but that’s better that having to live without Xander.

Eric enters the interrogation room to visit Brady. Eric doesn’t understand how Brady could drink again after everything that has happened. Brady insists that he didn’t, reminding Eric that he was with him at the Pub, but when he got home, he started feeling it. Eric asks if nothing happened in between leaving the Pub and going home. Brady mentions that he did run in to this guy in the town square, who said he recognized him with an AA meeting but he had never seen him before. Brady remembers when Brian shook his hand, it cut his hand with his ring, noting that it hurt and was pretty sharp. Brady adds that he went straight home afterwards and recalls Tate accusing him of drinking and helping him to bed. Brady says the next thing he remembers was Jada waking him up. Brady recalls that Jada was talking to someone which he’s pretty sure was Xander.

Xander tells Sarah when Jada burst in to Brady’s room, he thought for a second that maybe she ratted him out. Sarah admits that the thought crossed her mind, but she realized she couldn’t do that to him so she realized all she could do was call Jada and hope that she made it in time to stop him. Xander asks what if Jada walked in as he was putting the gun in Brady’s hand. Sarah calls it a risk she had to take.

Alex tells Stephanie that she was smiling during her dream and asks what it was about. Stephanie claims it was about a stuffed animal she had when she was a kid, like Ted. Stephanie states that in the dream, she was about to take him to bed but it never got that far.

Johnny apologizes to Chanel and says he doesn’t want to fight with her about this. Chanel argues that it seems like he does. Johnny says he was an idiot which Chanel agrees with. Johnny admits that when he walked in on Chanel and Alex with their hands all over each other, it made his head explode and he couldn’t help but think about Chanel and Alex having sex in the past. Chanel insists that they were just giving Abe and Kate promotional photos and she was just doing her job. Johnny gives in that she’s right. Chanel argues that what her and Alex was doing was fake, but how pissed off she is at Johnny is real. As they get in bed, Johnny tells her that he really is sorry. Johnny brings up Chanel’s first scenes being tomorrow and says he knows she’s going to kill it. Chanel says she has to be in early, so she’ll see him on set and turns away to sleep.

Alex tells Stephanie that he should try to go sleep and thanks her for hanging out. Stephanie assures that she wouldn’t miss being on set tomorrow. Alex says it will be nice having her there for moral support. Stephanie says that’s what friends are for as Alex says goodnight and then exits.

Fiona goes back to Xander and Sarah’s room but stops outside the door when she hears Sarah telling Xander that she doesn’t feel good about lying to the police. Sarah adds that she hates having Brady arrested on false pretenses but there’s no doubt in her mind that he’s guilty. Sarah comments on framing an innocent man. Xander argues that Brady confessed and knows what he’s done. Sarah tells Xander that Brady is going to pay for what he’s done now, so he can stop his one man crusade to get her justice. Xander assures that all he wanted was for the person that hurt her to get what they deserve. Fiona remains listening from outside the door.

Brady remains in the interrogation room as Eric steps out to talk to Jada. Eric tells Jada that Brady is sobering up and questions Xander being there when she took Brady in to custody. Jada confirms that Xander was in there when she walked in. Eric asks if he said why. Jada says that Xander said he came to talk to Brady but found him out cold. Jada then gets call and steps away to answer while Eric wonders why Xander was really there.

Daytime Soap Opera Short Recaps

Days of Our Lives logo

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

Alex thanked her for the hard work she did on the photo shoot. She asked him if he wanted to see the pictures Eric took. Stephanie noticed the chemistry between him and Chanel in the steamy pictures. He thought Chanel hated his guts, but they were getting along better. Alex was afraid it would ruin their onscreen chemistry if they got along. Chanel and Johnny looked at the pictures from the photo shoot. Johnny admitted that he was uneasy about how well she was able to look like she got along with Alex. She told him that Alex thought their love scenes were happening too soon. Johnny admitted that he talked to Leo about changing the script. She couldn’t believe he went behind her back and tried to get the script rewritten. He reminded her that he was the director and could talk to the head writer anytime he wanted. She was upset with him and told him that she and Alex were going to talk to Kate. They decided to wait to do it. He wondered if they changed their minds because they were getting along. They started arguing over Alex. Xander was in Brady’s room and planned to put the gun in his hand and pull the trigger. Jada knocked on the door and stopped him. He hid the weapon before she saw it. Jada said Sarah called and told her that she remembered that Brady was behind the wheel. She woke up Brady, and he swore he wasn’t drinking. Jada arrested him for the hit-and-run of Sarah. Johnny apologized to Chanel for the argument. He explained how the idea of them being together bothered him. She told him that she was just doing the job he recommended her for. Chanel told him that what happened with Alex was fake, but her anger at him was real. She stormed out of the room and went to the bathroom.

Sarah talked to Fiona about her “memory.” Xander walked in the room while she was talking. Fiona walked out the room leaving Sarah and Xander to talk. She admitted that she lied to Jada to stop him from killing Brady. He figured that ‘s what she did. Sarah couldn’t sleep knowing what he planned to do. If she remembered what happened, then Brady wouldn’t die and Xander wouldn’t go to prison for murder. Sarah wanted to remember because it was the only way she could save Xander and Brady. She had to live with the lie, but it was better than living without him. Eric arrived at the station after getting tipped off about what happened to Brady. Brady told him that he didn’t drink. He told Eric how he felt strange after meeting with him. He told him about the guy he met from AA. Brady told him about getting cut by his ring when they shook hands. When he got to bed Tate helped him. The next thing he remembered was Jada talking to Xander. Fiona went back to Sarah and Xander’s closed door. She heard Sarah admit that she lied about Brady being the driver that hit her. Sarah hoped it would stop Xander from going after him. He wanted to get revenge on the person who hit her. Fiona was nervous in the hallway.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[soft dramatic music]

Alex, hi.

Hey. Sorry. Were you sleeping? I know it’s late.

No, it’s okay. I was just getting ready for bed. What’s up?

Nothing, really. I just wanted to stop by and thank you for tonight, all your hard work at the photo shoot. But I will not keep you. I’ll let you sleep, and I’ll see you tomorrow.

Alex, wait. Eric just sent over some of the proofs from the shoot. Do you want to stay and take a look?

[tender music]

What you looking at?

Oh, Stephanie just emailed me some of Eric’s proofs.

Oh, yeah? Let me see. Wow, these are, uh– these are great.

Right? And I think that was, like, one of the first ones that he took. I bet you they get better as they go on.

Well, I mean, these photos, they’re fantastic. And you look gorgeous in all of them.

[tense music] Even this one. Hmm.

Sarah, dear.

Fiona.

How are you feeling? Is there anything I can do for you?

Uh, no.

I just peeked into Victoria’s room. Oh, my goodness, that child is an angel when she’s sleeping. Where’s Xander?

There’s–there’s something you should know.

What is it, darling?

It’s about Brady.

[tense music]

Well, looks like the drug did its job. Now all I have to do is put this gun in your hand and pull the trigger. You know, Brady, my only regret is that you won’t feel the pain– or know the torment that you inflicted upon my Sarah.

[knocking at door]

Brady Black? It’s the police. Open up.

What’s going on here?

I came by to offer Brady my support, and I found him all passed out like this, and– what are you doing here?

I just got a call from Sarah.

Sarah called you?

Yeah, with some rather shocking information.

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

Eric got some really great shots.

He’s such a talented photographer.

Hmm.

[gasps] That’s a great one of you and Chanel.

Yeah. It looks like we’re actually in love instead of ready to kill each other.

That’s the whole point of acting, right? Convincing everyone else that you’re feeling something you’re not.

Hmm, yeah. That’s why they pay us actors the big bucks, because that can be very, very challenging sometimes.

[laughs] I’m sure it can be.

Anyway, I hope Kate and Abe are happy with these.

Oh, they’re gonna be thrilled, especially the one of you and Chanel. I’m just not sure Johnny’s gonna share that sentiment.

[tense music] – Wow. Eric really did an amazing job. You know Alex and I try to avoid each other like the plague, but from these photos, you would never guess that we can’t stand each other.

Nope. Nope. You, uh–you sure couldn’t.

Mm-mm.

I’ve gotta admit, I was a little thrown when I walked in and saw you guys getting along so well, but I was very impressed with your acting ability.

Well, thank you, Mr. Director. And I have to say, maybe Alex isn’t such a jerk after all.

Well, let’s not get carried away.

No, seriously. We talked, and he actually feels the same way that we do about the lovemaking scene. He agrees that it is way too soon.

He does?

Yeah. And we both just wish that our head writer, AKA Leo Stark, would postpone it.

Yeah, well, there is no luck there. I already tried talking to Leo, asked him to rewrite the script, and he was having none of it. Why are you looking at me like that?

Because I cannot believe you did that. Damn it, Johnny! Why would you go behind my back like that?

Wh–

[tense music]

What about Brady?

Xander told me that you two had had an affair or a fling, whatever you want to call it.

I see. Well, I hope Xander also told you that I had no idea that Brady was Anna’s nephew, nor could I have predicted, of course, that he would drive drunk and cause such a terrible accident. And he–he seemed like such a good man.

What–no, Brady is a good man. He just made a terrible mistake. Which is why I am so grateful to you for stopping Xander from attacking him with a baseball bat. God, I hate having to say that.

That’s understandable. And as I’m sure you know, as do I, that my son has a history of letting his temper get the better of him. But please, please don’t think that just because I prevented him from meting out some vigilante justice that I’m not absolutely appalled by what Brady did to you.

No, I don’t think that.

I’m glad. I’m glad to hear that. And also, I hope you know that Brady and I are over. I want nothing more to do with that man.

And I’m–I’m sure that Xander will be especially happy about that. But that isn’t what I wanted to talk to you about.

Oh. Well, what then?

Well–

[sighs] I decided to be proactive in preventing Xander from going through with his vigilante justice.

[exhales] I see. And then–so what exactly did you do?

I sent the police to Brady’s house. They should be there now.

I was still sleeping.

[groans]

Wow, he’s really wasted, huh?

Yeah.

Sarah told us that we needed to get here right away.

[tense music]

This. In a few hours, Brady Black will be a dead man. What exactly did Sarah say?

She told me that she remembers seeing Brady behind the wheel on the night of the accident.

So you know now that Brady was behind the wheel the night of the accident?

Yeah. I thought that I would never remember, but then suddenly it all came back to me, and I could very clearly see his face.

And he was in the driver’s seat?

Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah, he was. And so as soon as I remembered, I called the police and told them that I would testify to that fact, and that they should go and arrest Brady immediately before someone else got hurt.

[suspenseful music]

Brady? Brady?

What?

[groans]

It’s Jada Hunter.

Sure. Jada, what? Jada, what?

Looks like you’ve been drinking.

No, no, no. No, no, no. I don’t do that anymore. I don’t drink and drive or anything.

Yeah, right.

[groan] That’s what Tate said. That’s what Tate said. But I’m so–I’m– I’m sober as a–as a judge.

Brady, I’m gonna have to take you down to the station.

Take–why? I don’t–I didn’t even drive home.

Well, given the condition you’re in, thank God for that. But I’m not here about tonight. I am placing you under arrest for Sarah’s hit and run.

[dramatic music]

So you think Johnny’s gonna have a bad reaction to these, huh?

Mm, yup, I do.

Even though it’s clear that Chanel and I were just acting, and that’s all. And the guy’s gonna be directing us, so I hope he realizes that he’s gonna have to get used to seeing us like that at some point.

Yeah, well, I don’t know what he does or doesn’t realize, but you didn’t see his face when he walked into the shoot.

[scoffs]

Well, let’s just say he– he was not happy.

Okay, well, that seems kind of crazy because we were acting, like I said. And besides that, Chanel hates my guts, so there’s really nothing for him to worry about.

Alex, you and I know there’s nothing to worry about, but I don’t know. Maybe it’s just hard for Johnny, either because he’s, you know, jealous or insecure.

Hmm. Well, I hope he gets over the jealousy at some point because Chanel and I were in character. That is all.

Yeah, I get that.

[tense jazzy music]

I was surprised that we actually seemed to get along a little bit better at the photo shoot, though. Chanel was actually friendly to me, you know? And I responded in a kind way, you know? Wait a second.

Wait a second, what?

You don’t think that’s gonna, like, ruin our onscreen chemistry, do you? The fact that we’re, like, seemingly getting along?

Why would that ruin your onscreen chemistry?

Well, I don’t think it would. It’s just Abe asked me to audition for this part because he saw the way Chanel and me were at each other’s throats.

It’s okay. Uh–

[clears throat] Chanel? I am the director of this show, in case that slipped your mind. I’m allowed to confer with the head writer.

[sigh] okay. Just tell me, Johnny– when did this happen? When did you go talk to Leo?

Why does it matter? And why are you so upset? You even said you weren’t happy with the scene. You were about to call Leo before Stephanie texted you with the call to the photo shoot.

That’s right. That’s right. I was about to call him to talk to him about my character and my scenes, but you beat me to it. You went behind my back, Johnny, to solve a problem that was mine and mine alone to solve. That was unethical and just–

[sigh]

Okay, let’s slow down, all right? Why do you keep saying that I– I went behind your back? I was having your back. I was trying to look out for you–

Oh, by going to the head writer and asking him to change my character’s part of the script?

Okay. Chanel, I honestly don’t understand why you’re so upset about this. You were just telling me that Alex agreed with you that the Faith and Errol love scene was happening too soon and that it needed to be rewritten. All of a sudden, he’s some good guy? I do the same thing, and then I’m out of line somehow.

Because it wasn’t your place.

[laughs] okay.

Alex and I are the ones who have to play the scene.

And as I reminded you before, Chanel, I am the director. So I have every right to go and talk to the head writer about my take on a scene, any scene, including yours.

Yeah, well.

Yeah, well, what?

We both know that that is not why you went to go talk to Leo.

[laughs] Oh. Oh. Oh, really? Okay. I went to talk to Leo because you were uncomfortable with the scene, all right? You said you didn’t want the sex scene to happen with Alex so soon.

I know that, okay? But when Alex and I discussed it, we decided that we were going to talk to Kate.

Okay.

And then we decided that we were going to wait.

Wait for what? The scene shoots in, like, three days. Unless what? What, Chanel? Did you change your mind? Did you decide that you and Alex were just getting along together so well and that the photo shoot was so much fun that maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to have a love scene with your new costar? Hmm?

[tense music]

Hmm. Well, thank you for showing me these.

Of course.

And now I will let you get some sleep.

Oh, yes. You should get some rest too. Big day tomorrow.

Yeah, big day tomorrow. That’s kind of the problem.

What do you mean?

Well, look. I know people see me as this somewhat cool, antihero type. And I probably shouldn’t admit this, but, uh, I’m a little nervous about tomorrow. Too amped to sleep.

Yeah. Well, I totally get that.

Yeah.

And it doesn’t make me think you’re any less cool or antiheroic.

Oh. Well, I’m so relieved.

And, hey, I was thinking of watching one more episode of “Ted” before bed. Want to join me?

Yeah?

Yeah. It’s no fun watching a foul-mouthed teddy bear alone, you know? No one to laugh with.

Well, I can’t argue with that.

[ soft music]

[sirens blaring]

Hey, Jada.

Eric, hi.

What’s going on?

I–I got a call from my mom. Said a neighbor saw you taking Brady out of his house in handcuffs.

Yeah, I arrested him for Sarah’s hit and run.

What? I thought EJ decided there wasn’t enough evidence to prosecute Brady for that charge.

There’s been a new development in the case.

Well, okay, what sort of development?

Sarah remembered what happened.

[tense music]

So you just remembered it was Brady tonight?

Sarah, we really need to– Mom.

I was, uh, just telling your mom how the memory of seeing Brady behind the wheel the night of the accident just came back.

Yeah, I just learned about that myself. Mom, um, would you mind checking on Victoria for me?

No, of course.

Thanks.

So, uh, Jada just showed up at Brady’s place. She told me what you told her.

Oh, thank God. I was so scared she wasn’t gonna show up in time.

Sarah, tell me the truth. Did you really remember seeing Brady?

No.

No?

No. I was lying. I had no other choice. I had to stop you from killing him.

Well, now I am even more insulted. You think that I actually want to have a sex scene with Alex now because I was civilized with him at a photo shoot?

Hey, Chanel, please, just try and see where I’m coming from, okay? You were totally against doing these scenes the last time we talked about it, and now it seems like you’re totally cool with doing them. Which I guess shouldn’t surprise me since you had no problem putting your hands all over Alex in those pictures.

Oh, for God’s sake.

Hey, it wouldn’t be the first time, right?

What the hell is that supposed to mean?

That is supposed to mean that when you two started groping each other, maybe, just maybe, it reminded you of the last sexy little time you and Alex had together. And you thought it wouldn’t be so bad to do a little, I don’t know, recreation for the camera. I mean, after all, what’s a little simulated sex between friends, huh?

[tense music]

You know what, Johnny? You don’t even deserve an explanation after that unfair explanation that you’ve come up with, okay? But for the record, Alex and I decided to wait to talk to Kate because we realized that it was getting late and it would be a better conversation for tomorrow. That is the God’s honest truth. But if you prefer to think that it is because I want to jump Alex’s bones, then you go right ahead and think that. And I mean, I already feel disrespected enough, so why don’t you just double down and make it worse?

You know, now that I’ve done a little acting myself, I’ve got to say, the bear that plays Ted is really good. I’m seriously impressed. All these other actors, they’re being able to be so convincing, playing opposite a CGI stuffed bear. Huh. You want to run another episode?

[soft dramatic music] Steph?

[echoing] You ready for this?

[echoing] I am so ready.

You and I, we have an amazing chemistry, don’t we?

Mm. It’s off the charts, baby. Which is why we don’t have to act. This heat between us, it’s real.

It’s very real. Baby, when I look into your eyes… it’s like I can see your soul. All your wants, your needs, your desires.

All of them?

All of them. And right now, I just want to take you to bed. I’m gonna make mad, passionate love to you.

I want to ravish you. Like a–

Yes?

Like a–

Go on. Like a what?

Like a– like a peacock.

Huh? Like a peacock?

[laughs]

Oh. Hey.

Hey. Yeah, you were dreaming, obviously.

Yeah. Yeah, that was weird. There was a–a peacock in it.

I mean, maybe it’s not that weird. We were just watching an episode of “Ted” on Peacock.

Yeah, right. That must be it.

Yeah. Yeah. So what were you dreaming about? A foul-mouthed bear?

About a bear. Uh, no. No.

No. Okay. Well, whatever you were dreaming about, it seemed pretty intense.

What do you mean? Was I, like, talking in my sleep?

You were mumbling.

Wait. What did I say?

I don’t know. I couldn’t make it out, but– I don’t know. So you weren’t dreaming about the bear. What were you dreaming about?

[both chuckle]

Yeah, I thought it was a bit of a coincidence that you suddenly remembered seeing Brady just in time to send the cops to his house. But I’m surprised you were able to bring yourself to lie to the police, especially after how you reacted when I suggested you do it.

Well, you didn’t leave me much choice, did you? What did you think? I was just gonna come home and go to sleep after you told me that you were gonna murder him and then make it look like a suicide?

It was the only way to get justice for what he did to you.

Apparently not, since I came up with a different solution. After I accepted the fact that you were determined to punish Brady, I realized that if I just remembered seeing him behind the wheel, then the police would have no choice but to go and arrest him. And then Brady wouldn’t die, you wouldn’t go to prison for the rest of your life for his murder, and then we would get the justice for me that you are so desperately seeking. It’s the only way that I could save you and Brady both.

[tense music] So now I just– I have to live with the lie, which is so much better than living without you.

Eric.

How are you doing, Brady?

Doing better. Jada’s been plying me with coffee since I got in here.

I don’t understand. After everything that’s happened, how could you drink again?

Eric, I didn’t. I didn’t. You were with me at the pub. You know I wasn’t.

How about after you left the pub?

I went home. And then–then I was start– I was starting to feel really strange. And then I was totally out of it.

So after you and I parted ways, nothing happened between then and when you got home?

No. Well, wait, wait, wait. I–I did run into this guy.

What guy?

I ran into this guy in the square, and he said he recognized me from an AA meeting.

Did you know him?

No, I’d never– I’d never seen him before. But I mean, that– that’s not unusual. There’s a reason they call it Alcoholics Anonymous, right? And the guy said he hardly ever spoke up. But he, uh, said some words. He wished me well, and he– He shook– he shook my hand, and–

And–and then what?

It surprised me at the time, but um, he cut my hand with his ring. It was–it wasn’t deep or anything, but yeah. Yeah, no, it was–it hurt. It was pretty sharp.

And then you went straight home afterwards?

Yeah. Yeah. No, Tate was there, and, um– look, I must have been out of it, because yeah, he even accused me of drinking. He had to–he had to even help me to bed. And then the next thing I remember was Jada shaking me, waking me up.

[snaps fingers] And she–and now, she was talking to someone.

Talking to another cop?

It wasn’t another cop. I’m pretty sure it was Xander.

Oh, darling. When Jada burst into Brady’s room, I did, just for a second, think maybe you’d ratted me out.

I mean, the thought did cross my mind. But I realized I can’t do that to you. You’re my husband, the father of my child. I just realized all I could do was call Jada and just hope that she made it there in time to stop you.

But what if she’d walked in right when I was putting the gun in his hand?

It’s just a risk I had to take.

So this dream you were having, you had a really big smile on your face, Stephanie, which kept getting bigger and bigger.

[chuckles] Okay. All right, all right. So not only mumbling, but smiling too. How embarrassing.

Oh, my God. Why were you embarrassed for having a good dream? Come on, just tell me. What was it about?

Well, like I said, it wasn’t about “Ted.” It was about a stuffed animal that I had when I was a kid. It was just like Ted. A bear, obviously.

Hmm. So you had a stuffed bear that would talk to you?

Most of our conversations were one way. He was a very good listener.

Yeah? You take him to bed with you?

That’s a weird question.

Why is that a weird question? I’m just trying to understand this relationship between you and said bear.

Okay. Okay. Uh, uh, yeah. Well, in the dream–

Yes?

I was about to… take him to bed. Never got that far.

Huh.

[suspenseful music]

I’m sorry, okay, Chanel. I really don’t want to fight with you about this.

Are you sure about that? ‘Cause it sure seems like you do.

No, I don’t, all right? I’m an idiot, okay?

Hmm, finally, we agree on something.

Nice. Look, it’s just when I walked into that room and I saw you and Alex with your hands all over each other, my head just kind of spiraled. And I couldn’t help but think about the fact that you two had slept together in the past. And I know that that was a long time–

Johnny, listen to me, okay? The only reason why Alex and I were touching each other was because we were giving Abe and Kate promotional material for the show, okay? I was doing a job, the job I was hired for, the job that you recommended me for.

You’re right–

It was your idea–

I know. I said you’re right. You’re right. You’re absolutely right.

What went on between me and Alex was a performance, okay? It was fake, not real. And since you have trouble telling the difference, let me spell it out for you, okay? What is happening right here, right now, how totally pissed off I am at you, this is real.

[tense music]

That’s fantastic.

[soft dramatic music]

Look, I really am sorry, okay? Hey, the first scenes are tomorrow. I know that you are going to kill it.

I have an early call tomorrow. : a.m. See you on set.

Okay.

Well, I’ve got a : a.m. call time, so I should probably try and go sleep and dream between the tossing and turning.

Yeah. Yeah. You’d better.

Hmm. Well, thank you for letting me come by and hang out for a while.

Any time.

You gonna be on set tomorrow?

First day shooting for “Body and Soul”? Wouldn’t miss it.

Good. It’ll be nice to have you there– for moral support.

That’s what friends are for, right?

That’s right, pal.

[both chuckle]

[suspenseful jazzy music]

Good night.

Good night.

Even though it was my only option, I don’t feel good about lying to the police. But as much as I hate having Brady arrested on false pretenses, there’s no doubt in my mind that he’s guilty.

I’m sorry, darling. I know you didn’t want to do things this way.

What’s done is done, and it’s not like I’m framing an innocent man, right?

You’re not. Brady confessed. He knows he was the one that was driving that car even if he doesn’t remember it either.

Yeah. And now he is going to pay for what he’s done, so you can stop your one-man crusade to get me justice.

That’s all I wanted, was for the person that hurt you to get what they deserve.

[tense music]

How’s Brady doing?

Sobering up.

Yeah. Being arrested will do that to you.

So Xander, he was there when you took Brady into custody?

Yeah, he was. He was in there when I walked into the room.

Did he happen to say why he was there?

He said he came by to talk to Brady, and he found him out cold on the bed. Excuse me. I have to take this.

Yeah.

Detective Hunter.

Why were you really there, Xander?

Recap written by Suzanne

The Forresters gather for a new Brooke’s Bedroom photo shoot. They’re bringing in Icelandic rock star J.J. (Jökull JĂșlĂusson), who’s the lead singer of a band called Kaleo (in real life), to record music for the new shoot. They all meet. Hope is a big fan of J.J., and so is Finn. Steffy prepares to go get J.J. Hope chats with her briefly about J.J. Steffy informs Hope that Finn will be there, so Hope needs to stay away from him. Hope and Carter chat a little. Finn arrives, so he and Hope chat, mostly about J.J.

Steffy is in another room when Taylor arrives. Steffy tells her that she probably won’t want to see this photo shoot (with Brooke, and Ridge). She also tells her what she told Hope. Taylor warns her to keep an eye on Hope. Steffy sets up a live feed on the TV screen for their shoot, which Taylor watches.

Steffy goes back to the photo shoot. Bridget arrives and says hello to her mom and everyone. She knows J.J. from a visit to Iceland, and she arranged for him to be there. Everyone is very excited. J.J. arrives and meets everyone. Finn is also there and is a bit tongue-tied to meet J.J. Hope watches from the other side of the room. Steffy tells Hope that she doesn’t like the way she was looking at Finn and accuses her of fantasizing about Finn. Hope denies it, but Steffy tells her to leave, so she does (because she knows her line is in danger if she doesn’t).

Finn chats with Steffy. She mentions that she told Hope to leave. Later, he assures her that he only has eyes for her, and it doesn’t matter what Hope does. They hug and kiss.

In another office, Hope fantasizes about the kiss she gave Finn. Carter comes in and tells Hope that he’s been thinking about her, and HFTF. They flirt a bit. He has an idea about making her line more popular: she should model lingerie for her own line, and tie it in with Brooke’s Bedroom. She doesn’t look sure about that idea, but she clearly enjoys flirting with Carter.

Zende, RJ and the other producers film J.J. singing, “Way Down” while everyone else watches their private concert. Film of Brooke in the lingerie plays in the background.

Taylor watches him sing the song. It clearly touches her.

After the concert, everyone applauds. J.J. hopes to see them all later at his concert. He hugs them and leaves, and so does Bridget. Ridge and Brooke flirt and kiss. Meanwhile, Taylor was just about to walk in, but she sees them and hangs back, eavesdropping. Her heart pounds fast. She gets upset, and she has what looks to be a heart attack, She grabs the near curtain and falls, bringing the curtain down. Ridge sees her fall and runs over to her. She looks unconscious.

Daytime Soap Opera Short Recaps

Days of Our Lives logo

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

EJ taunts Eric about Holly not trusting him anymore. He thought it was good that she could lean on him. Eric felt confident that she would forgive him. EJ reminded him that he killed her father, and Brady hit her aunt. He assured him that Holly wouldn’t get over it. Tate caught Holly snooping around in Brady’s bedroom. She lied about why she was in the room and admitted that she was looking for evidence that Brady drove the car that hit Sarah. He realized that was why she was there. Tate knew she wasn’t trying to fix things between them. Brady ran into Xander’s henchman at the town square. He introduced himself to Brady as Brian Jones from his AA meetings. He didn’t recognize Brian. Brian told him that he kept to himself, but he heard Brady tell him that he heard him talk about his son. He also heard about the hit-and-run and offered to talk to him. They shook hands, and Brady flinched. He wondered what was on his hand, so Brian told him about his ring being too sharp. Sarah demanded to know what Brian gave Xander. He tried to lie to her, but it didn’t work. Xander showed her the gun he gave him. In a few hours, Brady would be dead. Sarah was disgusted by what she heard. Xander couldn’t get past what Xander took from her. She informed him that he would go to prison, but he said he wasn’t going to shoot Brady. He said Brady would shoot himself. All she needed to know was that it wouldn’t be connected to him. Sarah begged him not to go through with hit.

Holly told Tate that she cared about their relationship, but it was hard to watch him be happy that his father was free. He said he was happy that his father was free since his mother was in prison. She didn’t think of that and was sorry about what he was going through. Tate was sorry for her, but he didn’t like how she was lying and sneaking around. Holly let it slip that EJ said it was the only way to get evidence against Brady. She said he couldn’t convict Brady without any evidence. Tate couldn’t believe Holly was working with EJ after what he did to her and her mother. They started arguing, and Tate told her to leave. Sarah yelled at Xander and had a muscle spasm. Xander got furious watching her suffer in pain. She informed him that his vengeance wouldn’t change anything. He felt like it would fix things for him since he’s a Kiriakis. She reminded him that he’s not Victor. Brady did a bad thing, but he didn’t deserve to die. Xander disagreed with her since Brady drove while drinking. He wanted her to admit that she wanted justice too. Brady stumbled home and panting. He didn’t know what was wrong with him. Tate found Brady and saw him stumbling and slurring his words. He was upset because he thought Brady was drinking. Tate helped him to the bed. EJ told Eric that Nicole wasn’t capable of putting anyone ahead in her life but him. She would choose him over her daughter. He wasn’t surprised she didn’t want to go to Paris. EJ thought Holly was better off without the man who killed her father. Eric lunged at EJ. He ordered him to stay away from Holly. Jada walked in and saw the heated exchange. Later EJ found Holly at the square and took her to the mansion. She talked to him about what happened with Tate. Holly wondered how they were going to be together if he kept defending his father. EJ vowed that Brady would get what was coming to him. Sarah told Xander that she wanted Brady to get punished, but the legal way. Xander didn’t have faith in the justice system. He looked at the gun and talked about the old days of justice. Xander got a text from Brian letting him know that it was done. Xander wanted Sarah to go home and not give it another thought. Sarah went back to the mansion and called Jada. Tate left the townhouse, and Xander found Brady passed out on his bed. Jada knocked on the door, and Xander had to hide the gun. She told Xander that Sarah told him some shocking information.

Holly showed up at the hospital and was glad EJ was okay. Her concern touched EJ and he assumed he was back in her good graces. She told him she wasn’t over him lying about Jude’s paternity, but she didn’t want him to die. EJ said what he did was terrible, but he wanted to save his marriage. She said she understood about doing stupid things out of desperation. He said her empathy meant a lot to him. She said him being there for her after she found out the truth about Eric meant a lot to her. Changing the subject, she asked what he was doing about Brady hitting Sarah. He said Brady’s confession wasn’t enough evidence to put him away. EJ wondered if her determination was about justice for Sarah and making Eric pay for killing her father. She said she might have been transferring her anger onto Brady. Eric got a slap on the wrist and now Brady was going to get away with what he did. EJ said he would make Brady pay when more evidence comes to light. She said she would do whatever she could to help him. Since Eric was living a good life with her mother, Brady had to pay for what he did. EJ said he agreed with her. Sophia went to see Tate. She asked if Holly was still ignoring him to which Tate said she was. He said Holly felt she didn’t have a father because of Eric and now his father was responsible for what happened to her aunt. Sophia said Holly was ignoring her too. She said her heart broke for Holly and him. Sophia said if she had a wonderful boyfriend like him she would never push him away. While they were talking Holly showed up. Holly was upset when she noticed Sophia. Sophia told her they were just talking about her. When Sophia left to go to work, Holly apologized to Tate for ignoring him and wanted to hang out the way they used to. Tate said he wanted to hang out with her because he missed her. She asked to use his bathroom and went to Brady’s room where she found his briefcase. Tate walked in and asked what she was doing.

Eric ran into Brady at the pub. Brady said he was doing as good as to be expected and was there to check on Ava since she was attacked. Eric said he didn’t realize they were friends. Brady said they weren’t, but they got closer the night he got drunk. He said she tried to talk him out of drinking, but he didn’t listen. Sarah wouldn’t have been in an accident if he listened to her. Eric told Brady not to keep punishing himself over Sarah’s accident. Brady said he paralyzed Sarah. Eric said it was an accident and she would find a way to have a good life and he would too. Brady asked how he was supposed to have a good life after what he did to Sarah. He said he may not pay in court, but Xander was going to make sure he paid for what he did. Xander almost hit him with a bat until Fiona stopped him. Eric said Xander didn’t have the right to take the law into his own hands. He said Brady made a mistake, but Xander didn’t have the right to come after him. Eric thought Fiona kept him out of prison to Xander out of prison. Brady admitted that he and Fiona were sleeping together. Eric wondered what he was thinking. Brady said he was drinking and didn’t know she was Xander’s mother. He changed the subject to Holly. Eric said Tate told her the truth about Daniel before he had a chance to. He said Holly felt betrayed by him and Nicole. Brady said Holly needed time to process what happened and would come around. He said he needed to go to an AA meeting and left. EJ showed up and wondered if Eric was upset about Brady paralyzing Sarah which made him relive what he did to Daniel. Eric said Holly was hurt, but she would get over it. EJ said Holly wouldn’t want anything to do with Nicole since she was a liar and Eric was a drunk who killed her father. He said Holly would never trust Eric and Nicole again. Xander talked to Sarah about Brady getting away with what he did. She said she understood, but he was obsessed with getting revenge. Sarah said they needed to focus on their daughter. She said she wanted him to forgive and forget for their daughter’s sake. Xander said he would do anything to help her be there for their daughter, but he would never forgive Brady. While they were talking, he got texts from someone. He said he had business to tend to at Titan. Sarah was suspicious since the last time he tried to attack Brady with a bat. Xander promised he wouldn’t go after Brady. He met with someone at the park and gave him an untraceable gun. The man left and ran into Brady at the town square. When Brady tried to walk away, the man stopped him.

Update written by Joseph

Eric tells EJ that Holly doesn’t despise him and he knows she has every reason to be hurt, but he knows she will come around. EJ admires his optimism but says he’s certain that Holly is not going to trust Eric or Nicole ever again. EJ adds that it’s good that she has him to lean on. Eric asks why Holly would want anything to do with EJ after all the lies about Jude. EJ informs him that Holly’s opinion of him has changed dramatically, just like her opinion of Eric.

Holly searches Brady’s room and goes to break in to his briefcase but Tate catches her and questions what the hell she’s doing. Holly claims that she was looking for the bathroom and took a wrong turn. Tate questions her going through Brady’s stuff.

Brady walks through the town square and runs in to Xander’s associate. He identifies him as Brady Black and thinks back to his meeting with Xander. He introduces himself as Brian Jones and claims he’s sat close to Brady at a couple of AA meetings but Brady says he doesn’t remember him at all.

Xander stands in the park with his gun and turns around to see Sarah arrive in her wheelchair. Xander questions how she got there. Sarah reveals that she had Henderson bring the car around as soon as he left and she followed him. Sarah says so much for Titan business and questions what he’s really doing here. Xander questions what Sarah is doing here when she said she was going to stay home and exercise. Sarah argues that he said he wasn’t going to confront Brady again so he lied to her. Xander disagrees, pointing out that Brady isn’t here. Sarah questions what he is doing here then. Sarah reveals that she saw the man that Xander was talking to and that he gave him something that he put in his pocket. She asks what it was but Xander refuses to say, claiming it’s Titan business. Sarah questions what Titan business he’s doing in a deserted park. Sarah demands he look her in the eye and tell her this has nothing to do with Brady and his crazy revenge fantasy. Xander admits he can’t do that. Sarah demands that he tell her what’s in his pocket. Xander then reveals the gun and declares that in a few hours, Brady Black will be a dead man.

Eric argues that Holly was EJ’s stepdaughter for a year and they were never close. EJ brings up the enemy of my enemy is my friend. EJ thinks Eric is selling Holly’s wrath short. EJ points out that Eric didn’t only deceive Holly but left her in Salem, so he and Nicole could go live in Paris. Eric says EJ talks about deception but it’s not a contest. Eric says he cares deeply about Holly and he should too. EJ talks about moving Heaven and Earth to help Holly when she overdosed. Eric argues that he moved Heaven and Earth to pin that crime on Tate and is now trying to pit Holly against he and Nicole. EJ argues that they did that themselves by lying to Holly her whole life just so Nicole can uphold the hallowed image of Eric which couldn’t be further from the truth of the lying miscreant he really is.

Holly asks Tate to calm down. Tate argues that Holly was looking through Brady’s briefcase and violating his privacy. Holly says she was just looking for something. Tate questions what but Holly says it doesn’t matter because she couldn’t find it. Tate insists so Holly admits that she was looking for evidence that Brady was driving the car that hit Sarah.

Brian questions Brady not recognizing him and guesses it’s because he tries to stay pretty anonymous at the meetings. Brian claims to be four years sober. Brady thought he would’ve heard him share by now then. Brian says he’s more of a listener and wanted Brady to know he appreciated the things he shared. Brian mentions reading in the paper about the hit and run that Brady was involved in. Brian says he’s sure that’s eating him up inside, so he wanted to wish him luck with everything and lets him know he’s around if he ever wants to grab a coffee. When they go to shake hands, Brian injects Brady’s hand with something.

Sarah can’t believe Xander and thought they agreed that his bloodlust for justice wasn’t going to solve anything. Xander argues that it’s the justice system that isn’t keen on solving anything. Xander tells Sarah to understand that the only reason he didn’t put Brady in a wheelchair with the baseball bat is because of Fiona since Brady seduced her and now she has misplaced fondness for him. Sarah argues that Brady was her friend. Xander tells her to look at all that Brady took from them. Sarah acknowledges that she may never walk again, but she’s still here and still has her life. Xander says her bravery is inspiring but it’s breaking his heart seeing her muster up all the energy to stay positive. Xander declares that if she won’t be angry, he will be for the both of them. Sarah cries that it breaks her heart that he’s out playing vigilante and trying to kill someone in her name. Sarah reminds Xander that he could go to prison for life and they could lose him forever. Sarah cries that she can’t lose him on top of all this. Xander promises that she will never lose him. Sarah asks if he thinks he’s going to literally get away with murder. Xander clarifies that he’s not going to shoot Brady, but Brady is going to shoot himself.

Sophia checks on Fiona at the Bistro as she drinks her martini. Sophia asks if she needs anything else. Fiona says no and offers Sophia her cheesecake. Fiona talks about being a waitress in the past. Fiona then invites Sophia to join her if she’s ending her shift. Sophia says she couldn’t, but Fiona says she would love the company, so Sophia decides to join her.

Tate questions what Holly thought she was going to find in Brady’s briefcase to prove that he hit Sarah. Holly thought maybe he wrote down a confession. Tate asks if this is the only reason she came over. Tate complains that she doesn’t care about fixing things with them or give a damn about them.

Eric tells EJ that he’s not even in the picture. EJ argues that he is because Holly still came to him for solace. EJ says he told Holly that he begged Nicole to tell her the truth about Daniel’s death. Eric calls that a lie and says he never had that conversation with Nicole. EJ asks how Eric would know. Eric brings up EJ threatening to tell Holly the truth before they left to Paris and says she’ll need to know that. EJ doubts Holly will believe a word from Eric and questions if she will ever believe anything Eric says anymore. EJ says Holly is horrified by what Eric did to Daniel and what Brady did to Sarah, assuring that she will never get over that.

Brady questions what stuck him when he shook Brian’s hand. Brian claims it was just the sharp edge of his ring. Brian wishes him the best and says he’ll see him at the next meeting as he walks away.

Sarah asks Xander what he means by saying Brady is going to shoot himself. Xander talks about Brady feeling terribly guilty about what he did to her. Sarah questions if he’s going to force Brady to shoot himself and tells him to be direct with her. Xander says all she needs to know is that it can’t be traced back to him. Sarah remembers who Xander was before they got together and says that was the root of everything that went wrong for them. Sarah argues that Xander is not that man anymore because of her and their daughter. Sarah asks if it was a lie when he said they changed him. Xander says it wasn’t, so Sarah begs him not to do this.

Sophia and Fiona talk until Sophia mentions that she has to get going to fill out college applications. Fiona asks what she wants to study in college. Sophia says her parents want her to be a doctor or a lawyer, but she doesn’t know what she wants. Fiona hopes she has time for fun and asks if she has a boyfriend or girlfriend. Sophia says not exactly as there is someone she likes, but he’s with someone else at least for now.

Holly asks how Tate could say that and says of course she cares about them, but the idea that his dad is free after what he did and he’s all happy about it which is hard for her. Tate questions her feeling like she has to pick sides. Holly says it’s hard for her. Tate complains that his dad fell off the wagon and his mother is in prison, so he is happy that his dad is free because if he goes to prison too, it would make him like an orphan. Holly admits she didn’t think of it like that and apologizes for what he’s also going through. Tate says he’s sorry too that she found out Eric was responsible for her father’s death as he knows that was incredibly traumatic for her. Tate adds that he could tell her apology wasn’t sincere. Holly questions what she had to apologize for since they were apart for a day and Sophia was already all over him. Tate says that he didn’t ask Sophia to come over. Holly asks to check his DMs then. Tate argues that this isn’t about Sophia, but about Holly sneaking in to Brady’s room. Holly complains that EJ said there is no other way as if there’s no other evidence then there would be no punishment for Brady. Tate asks if EJ sent her here. Holly says no and decides she’s not talking to him about this. Tate questions Holly working with EJ to bring down his dad. Tate brings up what EJ had done to Holly and Nicole. Holly asks what about all the lies Nicole told. Tate says at least she has a mom. Holly complains that she’s in Paris while Tate points out that his mom is in prison and that’s where she wants his other parent. Holly argues that Brady drove drunk, mowed down her Aunt Sarah and left her there, so she declares that prison is where Brady deserves to be. Holly says she’s not sorry for believing that. Tate then orders Holly to get out.

Sarah pleads with Xander not to deal with Brady and then suffers a muscle spasm which makes Xander upset, saying it’s killing him to see her suffer like this. Sarah asks how killing Brady will fix anything, arguing that it will only makes things worse. Xander declares that he is Victor’s son and if he was here, he’d be taking matters in to his own hands. Sarah argues that Xander isn’t Victor and that Brady is Victor’s grandson. Xander declares that Brady is dead to him. Sarah complains that Brady is still a son and a father, questioning why she can’t get through to him. Xander argues that he’s doing this for her and all the other people he could drunkenly maim. Xander complains that everyone feels sorry for Brady now. Sarah insists that she doesn’t feel sorry for him as he did a reckless and stupid thing, but he does not deserve to die, arguing that he didn’t know what he was doing and it wasn’t intentional. Xander disagrees, feeling that Brady made his terrible choices that could’ve led to Sarah’s death. Xander reminds Sarah that Eric also drove drunk and killed Sarah’s brother, Daniel, so Brady knew exactly what could happen and did it anyway. Xander declares that Brady deserves to pay for what he did and asks Sarah to admit that she wants justice too.

Brady goes home, feeling ill after what Brian injected him with. Brady wonders what the hell is wrong as he staggers to the couch.

Eric tells EJ to stop pretending he cares about Holly and argues that he’s just using her to punish he and Nicole. EJ disagrees and says he adores Holly. EJ says he has tremendous empathy for Holly because he knows how she feels. EJ argues that Nicole is incapable of putting anyone ahead in her life but Eric, including her own daughter. EJ remarks that Holly didn’t want to go to Paris to play second fiddle to Eric and declares that she’s better off without the man who killed her father. Eric grabs EJ and yells at him to shut up and stay away from Holly. EJ asks if he’s a tough guy now. They fight until Jada rushes in and breaks it up, asking what the hell is going on here. EJ claims he was just minding his own business when this maniac attacked him and tells Jada to arrest Eric. Jada tells EJ this isn’t going anywhere and suggests he go outside to get some air. EJ argues that he came to get a statement from Ava, so Eric should go outside. Eric reminds him that he lives there. Jada says she will deal with Ava and tells EJ to go take a walk. EJ then exits the Pub. Jada asks if Eric is alright and what all that was about. Eric respond that EJ is just trying to turn Holly against he and Nicole as he unfortunately gave him all the ammunition to do it.

EJ finds Holly in the town square and asks if she’s alright. Holly hugs EJ as she starts to cry.

Fiona tells Sophia to spill the beans, so Sophia explains that the guy she likes is with another girl but they are totally wrong for each other as their families don’t get along like Romeo & Juliet. Sophia complains that the girl has screwed him over so many times but he just takes it. Fiona suggests maybe he’s in love but Sophia argues that he doesn’t know anything about love, but she could show him. Sophia feels they have something, but he just looks right through her. Fiona advises her that men tend to be foolish with matters of the heart, so she suggests that Sophia make her intentions very clear. Sophia says she’s been trying. Fiona encourages her to keep at it and if he continues wasting time, she should cut her losses and move on.

Tate comes out of the bedroom to find Brady on the couch and asks what’s wrong. Brady claims it’s nothing but slurs his words, so Tate questions if he’s been drinking which Brady laughs off. Tate asks if he’s kidding as he thought he was going to meetings. Brady tells him not to yell at him. Tate decides to help Brady to bed.

Sarah tells Xander that she was upset that Brady wasn’t charged when she thought he should be, but she’s trying to put it behind her. Xander questions how she can when she’s going to run in to Brady all around town. Xander knows she feels rage about what Brady did to her and says she must want to see him punished. Sarah says she does by the criminal justice system. Xander argues that isn’t going to happen and insists that the gun is how people answer for their crimes. Sarah asks if he’s playing out some cowboy western fantasy and argues that he’s not making any sense. Sarah urges Xander to give her time to remember who was behind the wheel as maybe it wasn’t Brady. Xander argues that they know it was Brady. Xander then gets a text from Brian that it’s done. Xander asks Sarah to go home and not give it another thought. Sarah asks how the hell she’s supposed to do that. Xander tells her to just focus on how much he loves her.

EJ brings Holly home to the DiMera Mansion and asks if she’s ready to tell him what happened. Holly informs him that she and Tate got in a huge fight as he caught her going through Brady’s briefcase. EJ says he’s sorry. Holly says it’s not his fault but she’s just mad at herself for getting caught because now Tate will never let her back in there. EJ says it’s okay but Holly disagrees, saying she told Tate that she missed him and she meant it, but she doesn’t know how they could be together with this thing between them, especially if he’s defending his father from something no one should ever defend.

Tate gets Brady to his bed and tells him to sleep it off. Tate really hopes that Brady didn’t get behind the wheel this time. Brady assures that he didn’t and that he’s fine as he passes out. Tate says he loves him and exits the room. Xander comes to break in but hides when Tate exits the house. Xander then uses his credit card to break in.

Fiona tells Sophia that she reminds her of herself at her age, striking her as very determined. Fiona encourages Sophia not to lose faith or get discouraged. Fiona gives Sophia a big tip and says she enjoyed her company, adding that the martini is their little secret.

Sarah returns to her bedroom and looks at a framed photo of her and Xander, wondering what she’s going to do.

Jada tells Eric that Ava isn’t in her room. Eric says he will let her know that Jada is looking for her when he sees her. Sarah then calls Jada and says she needs to talk to her as it’s an emergency.

Xander approaches Brady’s bedroom with his gun drawn.

Sophia finds Tate in the town square and asks if he’s okay. Tate responds that everything is a hot mess as he and Holly got in a huge fight. Sophia tells him that she’s so sorry and hugs him, asking him to tell her everything.

EJ tells Holly that Tate knows his father is guilty and he’s relieved that Brady got off, but he also knows he will be punished which EJ assures he will see to. Holly is grateful that EJ is so determined. EJ says he is because he wants justice served but also because it’s so important to her. EJ declares that for Holly, he will make it his top priority over everything else in his life. EJ vows that he will not stop until Brady gets what is coming to him and he pays for what he has done.

Fiona joins Sarah in her room and asks if there’s anything she can do for her. Sarah says no. Fiona mentions checking on Victoria and asks where Xander is. Sarah responds that there’s something she should know.

Xander claims that he came to offer Brady his support but found him like this and asks what she’s doing here. Jada reveals that she just got a call from Sarah with some rather shocking information.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

Holly doesn’t despise me. And, yes, she has every reason to be hurt, but she’ll come around.

[chuckles] Well, I admire your optimism, Eric, as misplaced as it is. You see, I am certain, now that Holly knows what a chronic liar her mother is and that you deprived her of her father, that poor girl is never going to trust either of you again.

[relaxed music] Good thing she has me to lean on, huh?

[clicks tongue]

Why would she want anything to do with you? I mean, after all the lies you told her about Jude?

Well, Holly’s opinion of me has changed dramatically, and commensurately, so has her opinion of you.

[wind whooshes]

[sighs]

[lock clicks]

Holly?

[tense music] What the hell are you doing?

I was just looking for the bathroom and took a wrong turn, obviously.

Into my dad’s room? Why are you going through his stuff?

Oh, excuse me.

You’re Brady Black, right?

I am. Yeah. Who’s asking? – And you’re clear on your part in this?

Crystal. I know exactly what you need me to do. And no worries, OK? The guy won’t know what hit him. I’m Brian Jones.

Uh, doesn’t ring a bell.

I’ve sat pretty close to you at a couple AA meetings. Navy blue baseball cap, coffee in one hand, stale donut in the other.

Sorry, I don’t remember you at all.

Sarah. How did you get here?

The second that you left, I had Henderson bring the van around. And then I used location tracking to have the driver follow you here.

I see.

So much for Titan business. What are you really doing here?

Sarah, what are you even doing here? You said you were gonna stay home and do those bicep curls.

Yeah, and you said that you weren’t gonna confront Brady again. You lied to me.

Well, I didn’t– I didn’t lie. Look around. Where’s Brady? You see him anywhere?

Then, what are you doing here? Did you join a rugby league? I saw that man that you were talking to. I saw him give you something, and you put it in your pocket. What is it?

Nothing. It’s Titan business.

What kind of Titan business are you doing in a deserted park? Xander, look at me.

Look me in the eye and tell me that this has nothing to do with Brady and your crazy revenge fantasy.

[sighs] I can’t.

Oh, my God, Xander, what were you gonna do?

What’s in your pocket? Tell me!

This.

In a few hours, Brady Black will be a dead man.

[soft orchestration] announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the “Days of Our Lives.”

[relaxed music]

Give me a break, EJ. Holly was your stepdaughter, for what, a year? And you two were never close.

[exhales sharply] Um, Eric, have you heard the expression “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”? As I’m sure you’re well aware, Holly is apoplectic with both you and Nicole.

She is for now.

For now?

[chuckles] Oh, I think you’re selling that young lady’s wrath a bit short.

Not only did you deceive her, you left her here in Salem so that you and her mother could go and live in– was it the th arrondissement or the th?

You sit here and talk about deception.

This is not a contest. I care deeply about Holly, and so should you.

Of course, I do. When Holly OD’d, I moved heaven and earth to make sure she got the best care, the best doctors.

And you also moved heaven and earth to pin that crime against my nephew. And you’re only pitting Holly against me and her mother now.

I don’t need to turn Holly against you. You two did a brilliant job of that on your own… by lying to her, her whole life. All so because Nicole could preserve the hallowed image of Saint Eric, an image which, well, couldn’t be further from the truth

[tense music]

Would you just calm down, OK?

Calm down? Like, you’re going through my dad’s briefcase. Like, that’s a total violation of his privacy.

I know. I was just looking for something.

Looking for what?

It doesn’t matter. I couldn’t find it.

Holly, come on. Looking for what?

Evidence.

Evidence? What are you talking about? What kind of evidence are you–

Evidence that your dad was driving that car that hit my Aunt Sarah.

Really? Are you sure you don’t recognize me?

[chuckles] No. Uh, I don’t.

Well, it’s probably because I try and stay pretty anonymous at those meetings. I mean, the second A is there for a reason, right?

Yeah.

Four years sober, by the way.

Four years sober, wow. Well, I– I thought I would have heard you share by now then.

I’m more of a listener than a sharer. And I just want you to know, Brady, I appreciate some of the things you’ve said about what your boy went through with the drug charges and the girlfriend and all that. I’ve been through similar stuff with my own kid.

Mm, I see. Well, luckily, in the end, everything turned out to be OK for Tate.

Glad to hear it. And how about you?

What do you mean?

I read in the paper about the hit-and-run you were involved in. Can you believe anyone reads the paper anymore? I guess I’m a little old school. Anyway, I remember reading it and thinking, “There but for the grace of God go I.” Hey, I’m sure it’s eating you up inside. So I just wanted to say good luck with everything. And if you ever want to grab a coffee, read the Big Book together, I’m around.

All right. Ah– ooh!

[groans] What the hell was that?

[ominous music]

Oh, my God! I thought that you came to your senses and realized that this blood lust, this highland justice isn’t gonna solve anything.

Really? Because I’d say it’s the justice system that doesn’t seem too keen on solving anything, Sarah. Just understand, the only reason I didn’t put Brady in a wheelchair with that baseball bat is because my mum intervened, and she only did that because the son of a bitch seduced her, and now she has all this misplaced fondness for him, like someone else I could mention.

Are you talking about me? Brady was my friend.

Was. Look at you, Sarah. Look at all he took from you, from– from my darling Victoria, from us.

[sighs] It’s true. I may never walk again. But I am still here. Baby, I still have my life. And– and it can be a good life.

Darling, your bravery is commendable, and it’s inspiring, but it’s breaking my heart, seeing you have to muster up all this energy to be so relentlessly positive in the face of this terrible hand you’ve been dealt. So if you won’t be angry, I’m gonna be angry for the both of us.

Do you know what breaks my heart? The idea that my husband, the father of my child, is out here playing vigilante, planning to take somebody’s life in my name. Did– did it– did it not occur to you that you could go to prison for the rest of your life? That Victoria and I could lose you forever? Because I– I can’t handle that. I can’t. Not on top of all of this. I can’t.

Sarah, darling, you are never going to lose me. I promise.

What do you think is gonna happen? You think you’re gonna literally get away with murder?

There’s not gonna be any murder.

If you shoot Brady–

I’m not going to shoot Brady. Brady is gonna shoot himself.

[jazzy piano music]

Something wrong with the cheesecake? We also have tiramisu, if you prefer.

Oh, no, no. Nothing, dear. I just decided I’d rather imbibe my calories.

Lots of people prefer to imbibe their calories. They’re just usually not so honest about it.

Yes, that’s me. Honest to a fault.

Anyway, is there anything else you’d like before I clock out? How about a box for that dessert?

No, no. Thank you. I’m in town visiting my son, and my son’s family don’t do leftovers. Would you like it?

Me?

Yes. Once upon a time, I was a waitress too.

You were?

Yes. And I remember those long shifts with nothing but a cold cheese sandwich and soggy chips to tide me over. That’s fries for you.

[chuckles]

Say, if you’re going to be off the clock, why don’t you join me?

Oh, no. I couldn’t. I–

Of course, you could. And I’d love the company.

Sure. Why not?

OK, so please tell me what you thought you were gonna find in my dad’s briefcase to prove that he hit Sarah.

I don’t know. I thought maybe he wrote something down, like a confession.

You thought he wrote a confession down? Like, what, on the back of a receipt? I mean, come on. Who do you think you are, Nancy Drew?

No, I don’t think I’m Nancy–

Holly, that’s the only reason you came over, isn’t it? Isn’t it? To, like, play amateur sleuth, to try and get dirt on my dad. Oh, my God, this is crazy. You don’t care about fixing things with us. You don’t give a damn about us.

What business is it of yours, EJ? You’re not even in the picture.

Oh, but I am, as you say, in the picture, because a distraught, young girl, whom I very much adore still, came to me for solace.

[relaxed music] I told her that I begged her mother to tell her the truth about her father’s untimely and tragic death, that I tried to impress upon her what a grave mistake she was making.

And that’s a lie. You never had that conversation with Nicole.

Well, how do you know that? Wait, do you have a side hustle as a fly on the wall?

Listen, before Nicole and I left Salem, you threatened to tell Holly the truth. That’s not protecting Nicole or Holly, and that she will need to know.

Mm, yeah, well, if she hears that from you, I doubt she’ll believe a word of it. In fact, do you think that she will ever believe anything you say anymore? She is horrified by what you did to her father, about what your brother did to her Aunt Sarah. And I assure you, she will never get over that.

Damn, what the– what the hell? What was that?

What was what?

When I shook your hand, something– something stuck me.

Oh, sorry about that. You must have caught the edge of my ring.

[chuckles] It’s a little sharp.

Yeah. Yeah, no kidding, man.

[chuckles] Anyway, I wish you the best, Brady.

Thanks. Thanks. Uh, forgive me if I don’t shake your hand again. OK?

[chuckles]

I’ll see you at the next meeting, pal.

All right.

[ominous music]

What do you mean, Brady is going to shoot himself?

Well, I mean, we know that Brady feels terribly guilty about what he did to you. I mean, even he regrets having escaped legal punishment.

So are you just gonna force Brady to shoot himself?

More or less.

What does that mean? Be direct with me!

Darling, all you need to know is that none of this can be traced back to me, and it’s best that that’s all you know.

Oh, God!

I remember who you were before we got together, and it was the root of everything that went wrong for us.

Baby, you are not that man anymore.

Look at me.

You are not that man anymore because of me and our daughter. You told me that Victoria and I changed you. Was that a lie?

Of course, it wasn’t.

Well, then if it wasn’t, if it is the truth, I am begging you not to do this.

Mm.

[chuckles] My goodness, you’re making me want to order another slice.

It really is so good. I don’t get many sweets at home. My parents are pretty conscientious about no refined sugars or corn syrup, you know, all the best tasting stuff.

Yeah, but that’s because they care about your health. That’s a good thing.

Yeah, I guess. Although my grandma, she ate about four chocolate bars a day and lived to be -something, so who knows, right?

Right.

[laughs]

Anyway, I ought to get going. I have to fill out some college applications before I go to bed.

Oh, interesting, I assumed you were in college.

Oh, no, I’m just a senior at Salem High.

[chortles] Well, you certainly have a very mature air. So what is it you want to study in college?

Well, my parents want me to be a doctor or a lawyer, whatever they can brag to their friends about, right?

Yeah, I understand. Is that what you want?

[jazzy piano music]

Honestly, I don’t know.

Well, I hope you have some time for fun, that it’s not all about studying and filling out applications.

I do have fun. I’m in orchestra, cheer.

No, no, no. No, I said “fun.” As in, do you have a boyfriend or a girlfriend?

[chuckles]

Not exactly.

Not exactly?

There is someone I like, but he’s with someone else, at least for now.

Tate, how could you say that? Of course, I care about us. But–

But?

It’s the idea that your dad is free after what he did and you’re just, like, all happy about it. Do you understand how that’s hard for me?

So you feel like you have to choose sides, like your family versus my family?

No, this isn’t like college football, Tate. This is heartbreaking for me.

And you don’t think this is heartbreaking for me? Like, my mom’s in prison. My dad fell off the wagon and drove drunk. And you say that I’m happy that he’s free? Yeah, absolutely, I’m happy, because, you know, my dad going to prison, too, that’d kind of make me like an orphan, you know that?

I didn’t think of it like that. And I’m sorry, OK? I’m sorry for what you’re also going through.

Yeah, and– and I’m sorry, too, that you found out that my Uncle Eric was responsible for your father’s death. I know that that was incredibly traumatic for you.

Yeah, it was, obviously.

[sighs] But, Holly, look, the way that you treated me?

[chuckles] I mean, you didn’t even apologize. I mean, you did, but I could tell that it wasn’t sincere.

Wasn’t sincere? OK, well, what did I actually have to apologize for? We were apart for, like, a day, Tate, and Sophia’s all over you already.

I didn’t ask her to come here.

OK. Let me check your DMs then.

Oh, my God. Look, no. This isn’t about Sophia or anything. This is about you wanting my dad in prison so badly that you’d sneak into his room to, like, try to find–

Look, EJ– EJ said there was no other way.

[tense music]

What are you talking about?

EJ said if there wasn’t any hard evidence, then there’d be no punishment for your dad.

Did EJ send you here?

No, he didn’t.

Does EJ know that you’re here?

No. Look, I’m– I’m not talking about this with you.

Wow. My God, Holly, you– you’re working with EJ to bring down my dad?

Really, EJ DiMera of all people? Like, even after what he’s done to you and your mom?

What about what my mom did to me, after all the lies she told?

At least you have a mom.

Really? Where? Oh, yeah, that’s right, in freaking Paris.

Yeah, well, mine’s in frickin’ prison. And, oh, and that’s where you want my other parent, too, isn’t it?

Your dad confessed, Tate. He is the one who got behind the wheel and drove drunk. He just mowed down my Aunt Sarah and left her there. So yeah, yeah, prison is where Brady Black deserves to be, and I’m not sorry for believing that.

Well, I’m sorry that I let you in here. Go. Get out!

Hm.

Please, Xander, if– if the justice system won’t punish Brady then– then let karma do it, or the universe, or–

Sarah, what’s wrong? What is it? What’s– what’s wrong? What’s going on?

It’s just a muscle spasm.

What do you need, your pain meds?

No, I already– I already took them.

Son of a bitch! Damn him. Damn him!

It’s OK, babe, it’s already gone. It’s going away.

It’s not OK, Sarah. It’s killing me seeing you suffer like this.

OK, well, how is killing Brady going to solve anything? Hmm? Is it gonna fix me? It’s not gonna fix anything. It’s only gonna make everything worse.

That’s where you’re wrong. It’ll fix things for me. I’m a Kiriakis. I’m Victor’s son. You better believe if he was here right now, he’d be taking matters into his own–

You are not Victor! And did you forget that Brady is his grandson?

Brady is dead to me.

Brady is still a son. He’s a brother. He’s a father.

Right. And I bet his funeral will be jam-packed and quite moving.

Why won’t you listen to me? Why can I not get through to you right now?

Because I’m doing this for you, Sarah. And for all the other innocent people that drunken idiot might just maim or kill if he’s allowed to roam free. But, no, everybody’s– everybody’s all sorry for Brady now, like you, your mother.

I do not feel sorry for Brady! He did a terrible thing. Yes, it was– it was a reckless and stupid and despicable thing, but he does not deserve to die. He didn’t do it intentionally. He didn’t know what he was doing.

See, that’s where we disagree, darling. When Brady got drunk and got behind the wheel of a car and took out his key and put it in the ignition and turned it, they were all decisions. They were all choices, terrible, unforgivable choices that could have led to your death.

But it didn’t!

Just because of luck. Darling, I know you remember Brady’s brother, Eric. He also drove drunk and killed your brother, Daniel. So Brady knew exactly what could have happened, and he did it anyway. And he deserves to pay for what he did.

Come on, darling, admit it, you want justice too.

[breathing heavily]

[keys clatter] What the hell is wrong with me?

[ominous music] Oh.

[groaning]

[breathing heavily]

Still pretending you care about Holly? You’re just using her to punish me and your ex-wife.

Not true. Not true. I adore Holly. In fact, I have tremendous empathy for her, because you know what? I know how she feels.

[relaxed music] Nicole, her mother, is incapable of putting anyone ahead in her life but you, including her own daughter. No wonder Holly didn’t want to go to Paris just to play second fiddle to you. She is better off on her own, better off without you, the man who killed her father.

Shut up! Shut up! Don’t you ever– you stay away from her. You hear me? Stay away from her!

Oh, you are a tough guy now, aren’t you?

I suggest you get your hands off–

Hey, hey!

No, you–

Uh-uh, no, break it up. Break it up. What the hell is going on here?

I was just minding my own business. Then out of nowhere, this maniac assaulted me. I demand that you arrest him right now.

OK, come on, EJ. You know this is not gonna go anywhere. So why don’t you just go outside, get some air, OK?

I came here to get a statement from Ava Vitali. He should go outside and get some air.

Are you forgetting I live here?

I’ll deal with Ava. OK? Just go, take a little walk. We’ll be fine.

[relaxed music]

Are you all right? Eric, what was all that about?

EJ is just trying to turn Holly against me and Nicole. Unfortunately, I’ve given him all the ammunition to do it.

[soft dramatic music]

Holly? Are you all right?

No. No.

[sobbing]

Oh, go on, what’s the phrase? “Spill the beans.”

OK. So this guy I like, he’s with another girl, but they are totally wrong for each other.

How so?

Well, it was just doomed from the start. You know, their families don’t get along. I mean, those two are basically the Romeo and Juliet of Salem High.

Look how that turned out.

Exactly. I mean, this girl has screwed him over so many times, and he just takes it.

Maybe he’s in love.

No. No, definitely not. I mean, maybe he thinks he’s in love, but he doesn’t even know what love is, doesn’t know the first thing about it. I can show him.

Can you?

Yes. I mean, he and I, we have something, but for now, damn, he just looks right through me.

[jazzy piano music]

Something that you need to know, my dear, is that men tend to be quite foolish when matters of the heart are concerned, especially. So I suggest that you make your intentions very clear.

I’ve been trying. I’ve let him know like, hello, I’m here waiting. Let’s, you know, do this.

Well, you keep at it. And if he continues dilly dallying and wasting precious time on this pseudo relationship you describe, I suggest that you cut your losses and move on.

[grunts]

Dad?

Hey, Tate. Tater, how you doing?

Hey, what’s wrong?

Nothing. Nothing, I’m good. What are you– you’re talking to me, aren’t you? What do you say–

Dad?

Yeah?

Have you been drinking?

No.

[laughs] No.

Are you kidding me, Dad? I thought– God, I thought you were going to meetings. Why would you get drunk after what happened to Sarah?

Now you’re– now you’re yelling at your dad. I don’t appreciate that. I’m fine.

Dad! Hey! Dad.

I’m– I’m sorry.

Let’s get you to bed. Come on.

Hey! Hey, take it easy. I’m OK. I’m all right.

Come on.

Yes, I am upset that Brady wasn’t charged. I thought he should be. But I am trying to put it all behind me and move past it.

How on earth is that even gonna be possible, Sarah? You’re gonna into him all over town. How is that right? Huh? How is that just? I know somewhere inside, you feel it, too, this– this anger, this rage at what he did to you. Somewhere in there, you must want to see him punished, too, right?

Yes. By the criminal justice system.

But that’s not– that’s not gonna happen, is it? Sarah, this– this– this, in the old days before there were all these, like, drawn-out processes with judges and juries and expensive lawyers, this is how people answered for their crimes.

What is this? What is this, a chance to play out some sort of cowboy Western fantasy?

Do not mock me, Sarah.

You are not making any sense.

[ominous music] Just give me time. Just give me time. Maybe I will remember who was behind that wheel. Maybe it wasn’t Brady.

Come on, Sarah, we know it was Brady. Just–

[phone beeps]

Uh, it’s Henderson with the van. Please, darling, just go home and don’t give this another thought.

Don’t give it another thought? How the hell am I supposed to do that?

Just focus on how much I love you to the depths of my soul.

[soft dramatic music]

So, Holly, are you ready to tell me what happened?

Tate and I got into this huge, blowout fight.

[exhales sharply] Over what?

He caught me going through his dad’s briefcase.

Oh, dear. Oh, I’m sorry.

No, don’t be. It’s not your fault. I’m just mad at myself for getting caught because now he’s never gonna let me back in there.

Holly, listen, it’s– it’s OK.

No, it’s not OK, EJ. You know, when I got there, I told Tate that I missed him and that I didn’t want to fight anymore, and I actually meant it because I–

I don’t know. I just– I don’t know how we can be together with this thing between us, especially if he keeps defending his father for something that nobody should ever defend.

Right, just get some rest, Dad. Sleep it off.

[sighs] God. I just really hope you didn’t get behind the wheel this time.

I didn’t get behind any wheel. I didn’t drive. I– I took a taxi, Tater Tot. I’m fine. Tater Tot, hey, did you know– did you know your mom and I called you Tater Tot when you were a little– a little baby?

Sleep it off, Dad.

[grunts]

I love you.

[ominous music]

[sighs] Open sesame.

Again, thank you so much for the cheesecake. It was very nice of you.

It’s my pleasure. You know, you remind me of myself at your age.

Really?

Mm-hmm. You strike me as a very determined young lady. So I want to encourage you, Sophia. Don’t lose the faith. Don’t get discouraged.

[jazzy piano music] Here you go.

Oh, my God, that’s way too generous. I– I couldn’t.

No, not at all. I so enjoyed your company.

Same here.

But the martini, that’s our little secret, right?

Of course.

Hmm.

[sighs]

[tense music]

[sighs] God.

What am I gonna do?

[sighs]

[relaxed music]

Ava’s not in her room.

When I see her, I’ll tell her you were looking for her.

Thank you.

[phone ringing]

Sarah, what can I do for you?

I need to talk to you, Jada. It’s an emergency.

[ominous music]

[relaxed music]

Tate, are you OK?

No. I don’t know, everything’s just a hot mess.

What do you mean?

Holly and I got in this huge fight.

Oh, no, I’m– I’m so sorry, Tate.

Tell me everything.

Tate’s a clever young man. He knows that his father is guilty. And while I’m sure he is relieved that he seems to have gotten off without so much as a slap on the wrist, he also knows that, at some point, he is going to be punished. And he will be, Holly. I will see to that.

I know you will. And I’m really grateful you’re so determined.

Oh, I am. And not just so that justice can be served, but because it obviously means so much to you. And because I care about you, Holly, I’m going to make this my top priority. It’s going to take precedence over everything else in my life. I will not stop, Holly, until Brady Black gets what’s coming to him, for that bastard to pay for what he has done.

[ominous music]

Sarah, dear.

Hey, Fiona.

How are you feeling? Is there anything I can do for you?

Uh, no.

I just peeked into Victoria’s room. Oh, my goodness, she’s such a little angel when she’s sleeping. Where’s Xander?

Fiona, there’s something that you should know.

Well, it looks like the drug did its job. Now, all I have to do is put this gun in your hand and pull the trigger. You know, Brady, my only regret is that you won’t feel the pain or know the torment that you inflicted upon my Sarah.

[knocking] – Brady Black? It’s the police, open up.

What’s going on here?

I came by to offer Brady my support, and I found him all passed out like this, and– what are you doing here?

I just got a call from Sarah.

Sarah called you?

Yeah, with some rather shocking information.

Days Update Wednesday, September 25, 2024

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

EJ is at the hospital on the phone with Harold, assuring that Gabi will be fine. EJ says she’s in the ICU but is expected to make a full recovery, so he will let her know that he called as they hang up. Holly then arrives and tells EJ that she heard about the explosion at the mansion so she ran right over. Holly hugs EJ, thankful that he is alright.

Tate is at home and calls Holly, leaving a message that it’s the third time he’s called and he knows she’s pissed about EJ not charging Brady with Sarah’s hit and run, but he hoped they could talk things out. Sophia then shows up at Tate’s door, surprising him.

Eric runs in to Brady at the Pub. Eric talks about finishing the photoshoot for Body & Soul as a favor to Abe and Kate. Eric asks how Brady is doing. Brady says he’s as good as can be expected and that he was just checking on Ava after she got attacked by a maniac who tried to slit her throat. Eric is shocked and asks if she’s okay. Brady confirms that she is. Eric says that’s good to hear but notes that he didn’t realize Brady and Ava were friends. Brady responds that they actually got close on the night that he fell off the wagon as they got wasted together. Brady knows he must be questioning why she would do that when she knows he was in recovery. Brady adds that Ava tried to stop him but knew there was no way she could. Brady then remarks that maybe if he listened to Ava that night, Sarah wouldn’t be in a wheelchair.

Xander helps Sarah in to bed while Sarah complains about wanting to make the move on her own, insisting that she has to learn to do things on herself. Xander says he wants to cater to her every wish, so Sarah asks him to promise not to go after Brady again.

EJ tells Holly that he is touched by her concern and assumes that means he’s back in her good graces. Holly says just because she didn’t want to see him blown to bits doesn’t mean she’s over him lying about Jude’s paternity. EJ says he deeply regrets the choice, but he was desperate to save his marriage. Holly gets that being desperate can make them do awful, stupid things. EJ calls her kind and empathetic. Holly notes that EJ was kind and empathetic to her finding out that Eric drove drunk and killed her father. Holly then asks what EJ is doing to make sure Brady pays for what he did to Sarah.

Xander tells Sarah that he can’t tell her he’s done going after Brady after he just confessed to mowing her down and walking away free, questioning where the justice is in that. Sarah knows how unfair it is but complains that Xander is obsessed with making Brady pay and with revenge, even though she has repeatedly told him that what’s best for them is to move forward. Sarah reminds him that Victoria needs their full attention. Xander is sorry that him being upset makes her upset, but she’s the reason he can’t let it go. Xander argues that he wants justice for her but Sarah says she doesn’t want it and it’s only causing her anxiety. Sarah declares that what’s important to her is figuring out how to get around without the use of her legs, so she can be there for their daughter. Sarah adds that if Xander really wants to be there for her, then he will forgive and forget for their sake. Xander swears to do whatever it takes to help her figure out how to be there for Victoria, but declares that he will never forget what Brady did to her and he’s never going to forgive him.

Eric tells Brady that he can’t punish himself for the rest of his life because of what happened to Sarah. Brady complains that he crippled her and how she won’t be able to help Victoria take her first steps. Eric says that Brady made a mistake, but insists that Sarah will find a way to have a good life, so he needs to do the same. Brady continues to complain about running over an innocent woman and paralyzing her for the rest of her life. Brady asks how he’s supposed to just have a good life, knowing he ruined someone else’s. Brady says he may not have to pay for it in court, but Xander is not going to let go of it. Eric asks if he threatened him. Brady explains that Xander came after him at Basic Black with a baseball bat, but Fiona showed up and stopped Xander from crippling him.

Maggie and Fiona eat together at the Bistro. Maggie thanks Fiona and talks about not remembering when she last got out of the house. Fiona encourages her to allow others to help her. Maggie talks about Xander catering to Sarah’s every need. Fiona notes that Xander has been quite upset with her lately which Maggie questions. Fiona reveals that’s why she suggested they have dinner as she wanted to explain before she hears from anyone else, why Xander is not pleased with her. Fiona is sure Maggie won’t approve either and will likely be appalled. Maggie says to just tell her, so Fiona reveals that she and Brady met shortly after she came to Salem at the Pub and one thing led to another. Maggie questions what she is trying to tell her. Fiona then informs Maggie that she slept with Brady.

Sophia brought Tate BBQ sliders from the Bistro. Tate is surprised she was paying attention to know his favorite. Sophia says she always pays attention to him. Tate thanks her for bringing him dinner as Sophia says she knows how upset he’s been with Holly freezing him out and that he could use some TLC as she touches his hand.

Holly still doesn’t get why EJ let Brady go. EJ reminds her that there wasn’t enough evidence to charge him with a crime with no eye witnesses or Brady’s car. Holly complains that she can’t just let it go. EJ knows that Holly cares deeply about Sarah, but worries about her level of anger. EJ asks if this is about wanting justice for Sarah or about wanting Eric to pay for what he did to Daniel.

Eric gets that Xander is angry but argues that it doesn’t give him the right to take the law in to his own hands. Eric asks if Brady reported this to the police but Brady says he felt he deserved whatever Xander did to him. Eric disagrees and says that Brady suffered from a disease. Eric asks about Fiona stopping Xander from attacking him, assuming she wanted to keep her son out of prison. Brady says that’s part of it but she also didn’t want to see him hurt. Eric questions why when she doesn’t even know him. Brady then reveals that he and Fiona slept together, shocking Eric.

Maggie questions Fiona taking Brady to her bed out of all the men in town, pointing out that she said she didn’t even know who he was. Fiona apologizes for misleading her but she found the whole situation awkward. Maggie brings up Brady being Victor’s grandson. Fiona points out that they didn’t know about the family connection at first. Maggie questions how it happened and if Brady was drinking at the time. Fiona confirms that he was but she didn’t know about his alcoholism and that he was just charming. Maggie asks if they are still sleeping together. Fiona insists that it’s over and that she’s horrified over what he did to Sarah, calling it unforgivable.

Eric tells Brady that he tries not to judge, but questions what he was thinking. Brady says he was on a bender and he did not know Fiona was Xander’s mom when they first got together. Eric asks if he ended things after finding out. Brady admits he didn’t, but it’s over now after paralyzing her daughter in law. Brady wants to change the subject and asks about Eric talking to Holly as he was going to tell her the truth about Daniel’s death. Eric reveals that he wanted to, but Tate beat him to it.

Sophia asks Tate if Holly still isn’t talking to him. Tate confirms that she is not responding to his calls, texts, or DMs. Sophia doesn’t understand why Holly doesn’t see that he’s trying to be there for his dad. Tate talks about how it’s a lot since Holly doesn’t have a dad. Sophia wishes they were still close, so she could be there for her. Sophia talks about Holly not having a father because of Eric, who is living with her mother in Paris. Sophia calls it awful, sad, and depressing which Tate agrees with. Sophia tells him that her heart breaks for them.

Holly guesses there is some truth to what EJ is saying, that she’s transferring some of her anger towards Eric to Brady. Holly talks about Eric getting away with killing Daniel and now Brady getting away, all because they thought it was okay to drink and drive. EJ insists that he wants to hold Brady accountable. Holly tells EJ to say the word and she’ll do what she can to help. EJ reminds her that it’s a matter for the police. Holly refuses to sit by and watch history repeat itself. Holly complains that Eric is living his best life with Nicole and never really paid for what he did. Holly declares that Brady must pay one way or another. EJ says they are on the same page with that which Holly is glad to hear as EJ jokes that they are kindred spirits. Holly decides she should get going, so EJ tells her to take care of herself as she exits the hospital.

Maggie questions Fiona meeting Brady on the night of Xander’s wedding. Fiona repeats that Brady was drinking but she had no idea he was in recovery. Fiona brings up Xander tearing in to her about keeping him being Victor’s son a secret, so she was in a bad place but had no idea who Brady was. Maggie asks why Fiona is telling her all of this now. Fiona explains that when she found out about the bad blood between Xander and Brady, she thought she should keep quiet after just getting back in to Xander’s good graces, so she didn’t want to take the chances that an affair with his nephew would ruin things. Maggie asks if Xander knows which she confirms. Maggie says she can imagine Xander’s reaction to finding out. Fiona admits that he was completely thrown but some good came from it, as Xander was so shocked by the news that it stopped him from attacking Brady with a baseball bat.

Sarah asks Xander to drop his vendetta against Brady. Xander gets a text and says he has Titan business to tend to. Sarah questions it being at this hour. Xander says it’s with the markets in China. Sarah brings up that the last time Xander left on Titan business, he went after Brady with a baseball bat. Xander says he can’t promise to drop the vendetta against Brady, but he promises he’s not leaving her now to go confront him again. Sarah says she’s trying to believe him. Xander suggests she work on her upper body strength while he’s gone and says he won’t be gone long as he kisses her and then exits.

Maggie tells Fiona that in spite of the shock about her and Brady, she is relieved that she stopped Xander from hurting Brady. Maggie says Sarah needs Xander by her side, not in prison for assault. Maggie adds that she’s disappointed in Brady and angry at his choices, but she doesn’t want him to be hurt. Maggie admits that she can’t bear to look at Brady right now, but he’s family and had a lot to deal with in his life including alcoholism. Maggie remarks that Brady is a kind and decent man, when he’s sober.

Brady asks Eric why Tate would tell Holly that he was the drunk driver who killed Daniel. Eric explains that Tate thought she already knew. Brady asks how Holly is dealing with it. Eric says she’s angry as hell at him and Nicole for lying to her for her entire life. Brady understands they had their reasons but Eric worries that those reasons weren’t good enough. Brady encourages him to give Holly some time to process it as she knows there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for her and she will come around eventually. Eric prays that he’s right. Brady decides it’s time for him to go to an AA meeting, so he then exits the Pub.

EJ makes a call about the investigation in to Sarah’s hit and run. EJ warns that he wants Jada to find concrete evidence against Brady or he will suggests to Paulina that they make significant changes to who is running the police department. EJ remarks that maybe he should take Holly up on her offer as she can’t be any worse than the Salem police department.

Sophia tells Tate that she wishes Holly could understand that while he has his dad’s back, he’s on her side too. Sophia points out that Tate is the guy that Holly loves, but Tate says he’s not really sure anymore. Tate just wants Holly to know that he’s there to talk. Sophia talks about how if she was lucky enough to have him as a boyfriend, she wouldn’t push him away. Sophia praises Tate and calls him a total catch and amazing. Holly then shows up at the door and is shocked to see Sophia inside with Tate.

Maggie tells Fiona that she’s glad they talked and says they’ve both stepped up to be there for their children. Maggie adds that she’s come to consider Fiona a friend, so they wouldn’t want them to keep any secrets. Maggie mentions bringing Sarah her favorite dessert. Fiona says she will stay behind and have her favorite here. Maggie tells Fiona that she will see her at home. Fiona thanks her for not thinking too ill of her. Maggie acknowledges that Fiona has been there to help and support her, Xander, and Sarah so they are very grateful to her. Fiona is grateful for her understanding as they hug. Maggie then exits the Bistro.

EJ goes to the Brady Pub and confronts Eric, who asks what he wants. EJ talks about never understanding the appeal of the Pub and asks why Eric is so glum. EJ then says he knows the answer as not only has Eric’s alcoholic brother crippled Sarah, but he’s having to relive the misery and shame of his own crime which was much worse considering he actually killed someone. EJ adds that Holly now also absolutely despises him since that someone was her father.

Sophia tells Holly that she and Tate were just talking about her, as she was just telling Tate that she really hopes things work out between them because she hates that they are fighting. Sophia says she should get back to work and she just brought Tate some food. Holly remarks that it’s too bad Sophia doesn’t have anyone to blackmail in to working for her anymore. Sophia then exits. Tate tells Holly that it’s not what she thinks. Holly says she doesn’t want to waste time talking about Sophia as she came over to apologize for not answering his calls or texts since she’s been dealing with a lot over the situation with their families. Tate knows it’s been rough on her. Holly doesn’t want to talk about that either and asks if they can just spend time together which Tate says he would love. They say they missed each other as they hug. Holly then asks to use the restroom to freshen up and says she’ll only be a few minutes. Holly instead sneaks in to Brady’s bedroom.

Sophia goes back to work at the Bistro, where she takes Fiona’s order.

Xander meets with a man in the park and asks if he has what he needs. The man presents him with a gun, assuring it’s completely untraceable and says he knows exactly what he needs him to do. He remarks that the guy won’t know what hit him.

Holly searches Brady’s room and goes to break in to his briefcase but Tate catches her and questions what the hell she’s doing.

Brady walks through the town square and runs in to Xander’s associate.

Sophia brings Fiona a cheesecake and a martini which Fiona begins drinking.

Maggie goes home to bring Sarah dessert, but finds it very odd that she’s gone and wonders where she could’ve gone to this late.

Xander stands in the park with his gun and turns around to see Sarah arrive in her wheelchair. Xander questions how she got there. Sarah reveals that she had Henderson bring the car around as soon as he left and she followed him. Sarah says so much for Titan business and questions what he’s really doing here.

THIS STILL NEEDS EXTENSIVE EDITING!

[dog barking]

[suspenseful music]

Thanks for your concern, Harold. But I assure you, Gabriella will be fine. She is currently in the ICU, but is expected to make a full recovery. I’ll let her know that you’ve called to check on her. OK, bye.

EJ. Oh, my God.

Holly? What are you–

I heard about the explosion at the mansion, so I rushed right over. Thank God you’re all right.

[both sigh]

Hey, Holly. It’s me. I’m guessing you know that because you’re not picking up. Look, it’s the third time I’ve tried you. I know you’re pissed about EJ deciding not to charge my dad with Sarah’s hit-and-run, but I was just hoping that maybe we could talk things out.

[knock at door] Maybe this is you.

Surprise.

[laid-back music]

Brady.

Hey, Eric. How’s it going?

It’s, uh, it’s going. I just finished a photo shoot for “Body & Soul.” Kind of a favor for Kate and Abe.

Mm. That’s good of you.

Yeah. How are you doing?

As good–

[sighs] As good as can be expected, man. I actually was checking on Ava. Did you hear about this? She was attacked by some crazy person and almost got her throat slit or something.

What? Is she OK?

Yeah, it was frightening, as you can imagine, but I’ll spare you the details. But they caught the person and Ava’s gonna be OK.

Well, that’s good to hear. But you and Ava, I didn’t realize you were friends.

Uh, yeah, we are. I mean we weren’t. We actually got closer the night that I, uh, fell off the wagon.

We got wasted together, OK? And I know what you’re thinking, why in the hell would she be doing that when she knows I’m in recovery?

Yeah, crossed my mind.

Well, to be fair, she tried to talk me out of it. OK? But, hey, when you’re hell- bent on destroying your life, you know as well as I do that no one’s gonna say or do anything to stop you.

Yeah, I know that feeling, unfortunately.

Yeah. And maybe if I would’ve listened to Ava that night, Sarah wouldn’t be in a wheelchair.

Xander, put me down.

[Xander sighs]

[Sarah sighs]

There. Although you know I’ll gladly carry you in my arms to the ends of the Earth.

Yes, well, as heroic as that is, it’s also incredibly disrespectful because the physical therapist said that I am ready to make the move from the chair to the bed on my own.

I know. But my act wasn’t one of necessity, but of romance.

And it’s an act of defiance. I have to learn how to do these things by myself.

I know, darling. And you will. Does that mean I can’t still dote on you from time to time?

Do you want to dote on me, really? Cater to my every wish?

You know I do.

Then promise me that you won’t go after Brady again.

[tense music]

[somber music]

Well, I’m touched by your concern, Holly. I assume this means I’m back in your good graces?

Mm, not sure I’d go that far.

[chuckling] OK.

Just because I don’t want to see you blown to bits doesn’t mean I’m over you lying to everyone about Jude’s paternity, you know.

I understand. I understand. And I’m not over it either. I still deeply regret the choice to keep that a secret. But as I explained, I was– I was desperate to save my marriage. Not that that’s an excuse, it’s just a reason.

No, I get it. Being desperate can make us all do awful, stupid things that we end up regretting.

You’re a very kind and empathetic person, Holly.

Thanks.

[EJ chuckles] Well, you were really kind and empathetic to me when I told you I found out how my dad really died, that it was Eric who drove drunk and killed him.

Well, I’m glad I could be there for you.

Well, it really meant a lot to me. And while we’re on the subject of drunk drivers, so what are you doing to make sure Tate’s dad pays for what he did to my Aunt Sarah?

[tense music]

[sighs] Sarah. How can I tell you that I’m done going after Brady after the son of a bitch just confessed to… running you down when he was driving drunk and leaving you by the side of the road? And now he’s gonna walk away scot-free. I mean, where’s the justice in that?

I mean, you know you are preaching to the choir, right? You don’t have to tell me how unfair this is even though you have said it a million times.

I know, I know, I’m just–I’m just–

Obsessed. That’s what you are. You’re just obsessed. You’re obsessed with making Brady pay, with revenge, and… even though I have repeatedly and emphatically told you that what’s best for us is to move forward. We have a beautiful, little girl who needs our full attention.

Darling, I’m sorry that my being upset about this upsets you, too, but it–

[Sarah sniffles] You’re the reason I can’t let this go. This is all about getting justice for you.

I don’t want it! I don’t want it. How have I not gotten through to you that you getting justice for me is only causing me anxiety? Instead of letting me focus on what is important? And right now, for me, that is figuring out how to get around without the use of my legs so that I can be there for our daughter. Can you understand that?

[somber music]

Of course, I can.

OK. Well, then, if you really want to help me, if you really want to be there for me, then you will forgive and forget. And not for Brady’s sake. For ours, for Victoria’s.

Sarah, darling… I swear to you that I will do whatever it takes to help you figure out how to be there for Victoria.

Thank you.

But I will never forget what Brady has done to you. And I’m sorry, but… I’m never, ever gonna forgive him.

Brady, you know you can’t punish yourself for the rest of your life because of what happened to Sarah.

[clears throat] Why not?

[laid-back music] I crippled her. Do you know that her little girl is gonna start walking soon? And Sarah’s not gonna be able to get up out of her chair and just hold her little girl so she can take her first steps? You realize that?

Brady, listen to me. All right, you made a mistake in what happened with Sarah. But she’s a strong and resourceful person. She’s gonna find a way to have a good life.

[Brady sighs] You need to start doing the same.

You’re right. Now, why didn’t I think of that? Why didn’t I think of that? I should just start having a good life, you know? Why would I waste one more minute on guilt just because I happened to just run over an innocent woman and paralyze her for the rest of her life? That’s a good point.

And you can stop with the sarcasm bit.

All right, I’ll stop with the sarcasm if you stop this Pollyanna take on the whole thing. How the hell am I supposed to just–just– just go have a good life, knowing that I just ruined someone else’s? Huh? By the way, I may not, you know, have to pay for this in court, but Xander’s not gonna let go of this.

What do you mean?

[Brady sighs] Did he threaten you?

Eric, he came to Basic Black with a baseball bat. And he said, “I’m gonna do to you what you did to Sarah.”

What–what happened?

[sighs] Xander’s mom happened. Fiona Cook showed up and, uh… basically stopped her son from crippling me.

[jazzy piano music]

Well, this was lovely, Fiona. Thank you for suggesting it.

You’re welcome.

You know, I can’t remember the last time I’ve been out of the house.

[chuckles] I’m not complaining, mind you. I love spending time with my daughter and my granddaughter.

And Sarah needs you, of course. But Maggie, it’s a heavy burden to carry. You have to allow others to help you.

Oh, I do. I do. I mean, your son has been doting over Sarah, as you know, catering to her every need pretty much around the clock.

Yes, he has. And he’s been quite upset with me lately.

Xander has?

Yeah. And for good reason, actually. Maggie, that’s why I suggested you and I have dinner together. I wanted to explain before you hear it from anyone else why Alexander is not best pleased with me, to say the least.

OK.

And, uh, I’m sure it’s something that you won’t approve of either. In fact, you will likely be appalled.

Fiona, just– just tell me, OK?

Well… Brady and I, we met shortly after I came to Salem. I ran into him in the pub and we started talking. Hit it off, if you will. And then, um… one thing led to another.

What are you trying to tell me, Fiona?

[somber music]

I slept with him, Maggie. I slept with the man that crippled your daughter.

You haven’t said a word to me since I handed you that bag of barbecue sliders.

[chuckles] It wouldn’t be polite to talk with my mouth full, would it? How did you even know these were my favorite?

Hello, you only order them every time you come to see me at the Bistro.

I guess I didn’t know you were paying attention.

I always pay attention to you, Tate.

Well, um, thank you for bringing me dinner. You really didn’t have to.

Oh, I get them for free. It’s not a big deal. And I know how hurt you’ve been about Holly freezing you out, so I thought I should stop by to bring you a little comfort food and some TLC.

[soft dramatic music] I hope that’s OK.

I still don’t get why you let Tate’s dad go.

Holly, Holly, I already explained there wasn’t enough evidence to formally charge Brady with a crime, even though he confessed, even though he was obviously guilty. Now, if we had any eyewitnesses or Brady’s damaged car–

Yeah, well, we don’t. I know. And I can’t just let it go, EJ. I mean, it’s just the idea of Brady getting away with this.

[somber music]

Holly, I know that you care deeply about your Aunt Sarah.

And that you would be upset about what Brady did to her no matter what. But your level of anger, the–the intensity of it… Sweetheart, you need to ask yourself is this about wanting justice for your Aunt Sarah? Or is it about wanting Eric to pay for what he did to Daniel?

Brady, I get that Xander is angry as hell, but that does not give him the right to take the law into his own hands. You called the police and reported this, didn’t you?

[chuckles] No. I figured I had it coming, Eric.

[Eric sighs] Whatever pain Xander wanted to inflict on me in that moment, I felt I deserved it.

First of all, no, you didn’t. You’re a good man who’s battling a disease.

But that’s no excuse, though, is it?

You made a terrible mistake, nut that does not give the son of a bitch the right to do what he did to you.

Well, he obviously thought that it did.

OK, so Xander’s mom, she stopped him before he attacked you?

She did.

To keep her son out of prison, I assume.

That was part of it, but I also–

[chuckles] I think she may have wanted to protect me, not see me get hurt.

Well, good for her. But why? I mean, she doesn’t even know you.

Not–not in the profound personal sense, no. But, um… in the biblical sense, she does.

What are you saying?

Yeah. Xander’s mom and I… we slept together.

[Eric sighs] – So let me get this straight.

[suspenseful music] Of all the men in this town, the one you chose to take to your bed was Brady? Oh, God, Fiona. You told me you didn’t even know who he was.

I know, and I’m so sorry that I misled you about that. I’m sure you can understand that I found the whole situation somewhat awkward.

More than somewhat, I would say, considering you share a son with my late husband. And Brady is Victor’s grandson.

Brady and I had no idea about the familial connections when we made our own connection.

I see. Well, then why don’t you tell me, Fiona, exactly how did it happen? Was Brady drinking at the time?

He was, though I had no idea he shouldn’t have been. All I knew was that he was charming, good to talk to, and we were both lonely.

I see. Well, are you and Brady still sleeping together?

No. No, no. It’s over. And I’m horrified, horrified by what he did to Sarah, hitting her like that and leaving her there to die. It’s unconscionable. It’s unforgivable!

[tense music]

Brady, you know I don’t judge. Or I do my best to try not to. But what are you thinking?

[scoffs] I wasn’t thinking. I was on a bender. By the way, I did not know that Fiona was Xander’s mom when we first got together.

OK, so once you found out, you ended things?

Uh, uh, no.

Seriously?

But it’s over now, OK? Eric, nothing kills romance faster than paralyzing your new lover’s daughter-in-law.

Mm.

Anyway, let’s change the subject. Did you talk to Holly yet? I mean, that must have been rough.

Wait, you haven’t heard?

Heard? What? No. I thought you were gonna tell Holly the truth behind Daniel’s death. Did you do that?

Well, I wanted to. But somebody beat me to it.

What? Who? Who told her?

Your son.

Mmm. Thanks for saving me one.

Yeah, no problem. I mean, since you brought me four.

[chuckles]

Mmm. So delish. So… Holly’s still not talking to you?

No. She’s not returning my calls. All my texts and DMs are going unread.

That’s just wrong. I mean I know she’s upset, but I don’t get why she doesn’t understand you’re just trying to be there for your dad.

The way Holly sees it, she doesn’t even have a dad. That’s all because of what my Uncle Eric did. And now my dad nearly took her Aunt Sarah’s life. So to put it mildly, it’s a lot.

Yeah. I guess when you put it like that, I actually feel bad for her. And even though she’s ghosting me too, I really do wish we were still close so I could be there for her. I mean, she never even met her father because he was killed by a drunk driver. And now she knows that the drunk driver was Eric Brady, the man who her mother is now living with in Paris. It’s just so awful and sad and depressing.

Yeah. All the above.

Oh, Tate.

[somber music] My heart breaks for Holly.

And for you, too.

Yeah, I guess there’s some truth to what you’re saying. Maybe I’m transferring some of my anger towards Eric onto Tate’s dad.

And it’s understandable, Holly.

Especially because all Eric got was a slap on the wrist for killing my father.

[EJ sighs] And now it looks like Brady’s gonna walk for putting my aunt in a wheelchair. All because they thought it was OK to drink and drive.

Well, it’s not OK, obviously. It was horrible, unconscionable. And as I told you, as district attorney, I am committed to holding Brady accountable for that hit-and-run the second any concrete evidence of his culpability comes to light.

OK. And my offer still stands. You just say the word and I’ll do whatever I can to help you find that evidence.

Holly. Holly, we’ve been over this. It is a job for the police.

Oh, my God, EJ. We both know that if the Salem PD was gonna find something, they would have by now. And I’m not just gonna stand by and watch history repeat itself when–when someone hurts the people I love.

[scoffs] I mean, Eric, he’s literally living his best life with my mom right now. And all except for five minutes in prison, he never paid for what he did. But Brady has to pay, one way or the other.

I agree, wholeheartedly.

I know you do. And it really means a lot to me to know you feel the same way I do.

[somber music]

We are kindred spirits in this.

[both chuckle]

[chuckling] Yeah, I guess we are. OK, well, I better get going.

All right, Holly, well, you take care of yourself, OK?

You too.

You too.

[Holly sighs]

[elevator bell rings]

[EJ sighs]

So you met Brady the night of Xander’s wedding.

Right. And yes, he was drinking. But I had no idea he was in recovery. And I’m sure you remember how Xander tore into me for keeping that secret for all those years. Him being Victor’s son.

[jazzy piano music]

[sighs] Maggie, I was in a bad place. I had no idea who Brady was. He was just a handsome stranger who was being kind to me.

Why are you telling me all this now?

Because when I initially found out about the bad blood between Xander and Brady, I thought it best that I keep quiet. I’d only just managed to get back into my son’s good graces after years of estrangement. And I didn’t want to take the chance that an affair with his nephew would ruin things.

Does Xander know about you and Brady?

Yeah.

Oh. I can imagine his reaction when he found out.

Well, he was completely thrown. He was terribly upset. But some good did come of it.

And what is that?

When I told him the truth, for various reasons, mostly, I suppose, because he was so shocked, it stopped him from hurting Brady, from attacking him with a baseball bat.

I’m serious, Xander. I need you to promise me that you’re gonna drop this vendetta against Brady.

Look–

[phone beeps]

[Xander sighs] Oh, damn. A little bit of Titan business I have to attend to.

Mm. At this hour?

It might be nighttime here, but the Asian markets have just opened.

[suspenseful music] What, Sarah? Why are you looking at me like that?

You know why. The last time that you left here on “Titan business,” you went after Brady with a baseball bat.

Darling, look, as I said, I’m– I’m not gonna promise you that I’ll drop my vendetta against Brady. But I can absolutely promise you that I’m not leaving you right now to go confront him again. Come on. Cross my heart. You do believe me, don’t you?

I’m trying.

Mwah. Why don’t you…

Work on your upper body strength while I’m gone?

I will. I want the s.

[chuckles] Of course you do.

[Xander sighs]

There you go.

Thank you.

I can still take you, you know?

I don’t doubt it for a minute.

[Sarah chuckles] I won’t be gone long.

OK.

[Xander smooches]

[Sarah sighs]

Well, Fiona–

[sighs] In spite of the shock about what you told me about you and Brady, of course, I’m relieved that you stopped Xander from hurting him.

Believe me, so was I.

Sarah needs Xander by her side right now, not in prison for assault. And also, as deeply disappointed as I am in Brady and angry at his terrible choices that he made, I don’t want him to be hurt.

Despite what he did to your daughter?

[jazzy piano music]

The truth is I can’t bear to look at them right now. But he’s family. And he’s had a lot to deal with in his life. Including alcoholism. But he’s a kind and a decent man.

When he’s sober.

So Tate told Holly that you were the driver that caused Daniel’s death? Why would he do that?

He thought she already knew.

Right, OK. I get why he would. How is Holly dealing with it?

[laid-back music]

[sighs] She’s angry as hell. At me and Nicole, rightfully so. We’ve been lying to her her entire life. She feels betrayed.

You and Nicole, you– you had your reasons, Eric.

Yeah, we did. And when just, you know, just looking back now, maybe those reasons weren’t good enough.

[sighs] Give Holly some time to process it. You’ve loved that little girl her whole life. And she knows it. There’s nothing you wouldn’t do for her. Let her remember that. She’ll come around eventually.

I pray you’re right.

Well, um… it’s time for me to go to an AA meeting.

One day at a time, right?

Right.

I don’t care what time it is. You call Acting Commissioner Hunter and remind her that this investigation into Sarah Kiriakis’s hit-and-run is an ongoing one. Stress to her that they need to find some concrete evidence linking Brady Black to this crime or I’ll make sure the case to Mayor Price that there needs to be significant changes in personnel running our police department.

[exhales deeply and groans]

[tense music] Perhaps, I should take Holly up on her offer and get her on the case. She can’t be any worse than the Salem PD.

[sighs]

I just wish Holly would understand that even though you have your dad’s back, you’re on her side, too. I mean, you’re the guy she loves, right?

I’m not really sure anymore. I, uh… I just want her to know that I’m here for her to talk or whatever.

[suspenseful music]

You know, if I was lucky enough to have an amazing boyfriend like you…

[Tate chuckles] And I was going through something like this, I wouldn’t take you for granted. And I sure wouldn’t push you away. I mean, you’re such a great person, Tate Black. You’re not only great-looking. You’re also smart, and fun, and sensitive. Just, like, this total catch.

Yeah, right.

You are, I swear. And it’s not just my opinion. It’s a fact. You are amazing.

[knock at door]

Sorry.

[tense music]

I’m glad we talked, Fiona. We both have stepped up to be there for our children. I’ve come to consider you a friend. And I wouldn’t want us to keep any secrets.

Nor would I.

Well, I better get going because I want to stop and get my daughter her favorite dessert before she turns in tonight.

And if you don’t mind, I’ll stay behind and have my favorite dessert right here.

Of course. So I’ll see you at home?

You will.

Yep.

And thank you, Maggie, for not thinking too ill of me. At least I hope you don’t.

I don’t, I don’t. I’ve said many times you’ve been there to help and support Sarah, Xander, and me.

[chuckles] We’re very grateful for you.

And I’m very grateful for your understanding.

Oh, come on. Come here.

[laughs] Aw.

Mm. Bye.

OK, see you at home.

Yeah.

Well, if it isn’t the world-famous shutterbug, Eric Brady, bumming off Daddy’s free Wi-Fi?

What do you want, EJ?

Oh, is Roman aware of how rudely you’re greeting his customers?

Did you come in here to eat?

No. God, no. If I live to , I’ll never understand the appeal of a place that serves a great portion of their items with those little packets of tartar sauce. Oh, why so glum, Eric? Ah, you know what? Never mind. I know the answer to that. Not only has your alcoholic brother crippled the wonderful and very well-respected Dr. Sarah Horton, you’re now having to relive the misery and shame of your own crime. Which was much worse, considering, uh… you actually killed someone. Not to mention Holly Jonas now absolutely despises you. And for good reason, don’t you think? Since that someone was her father. – Sophia.

I bet your ears were burning. Tate and I were just talking about you.

Were you?

We were. I was just telling your boyfriend that I really hope things work out between you two.

Mm, I bet you do.

I do. Oh, my God, I hate that you two are fighting. OK, well, I should get back to work. I just ran over here to bring Tate some sliders on my break.

Aw, it’s too bad you don’t have anyone to blackmail into working for you. Otherwise, I’d say you could totally stay and hang.

Mm, you’re hilarious. OK, see you later, girl.

Yeah. See you later, girl.

Bye, Tate.

Bye.

[sighs]

[door slams] It’s not what you think.

Whatever. I don’t want to waste my time talking about Sophia. I came over here because– because I wanted to apologize to you, Tate, for not answering your calls or texts. I’ve been dealing with a lot, with this whole situation, with our families.

Totally get it. I know it’s been really rough for you.

Yeah, it has been. But I don’t want to talk about that either. I just–can we hang out and spend some time together like we used to before all this craziness happened?

[Tate chuckles]

I’d love that.

[Holly sighs] I missed you, Holly.

I missed you so much.

[Tate chuckles and sighs]

[suspenseful music]

[Holly sniffs]

Hey, you OK?

Yeah. Yeah, I’ll be fine. Um, can I just use your restroom? Just need to freshen up.

Yeah, of course.

I’ll only be a few minutes.

OK.

[Holly sighs]

Brady’s room. Has to be.

[jazzy piano music]

Hi there.

Oh, hello, dear. I was just about to beckon over my server.

Oh, well, her shift just ended, so I’ll be closing you out. Would you like anything else?

Actually, I would.

I got your text. You have what I need?

Sure thing, Xander.

That’s Mr. Kiriakis to you now.

Oh, right, yeah. I heard your ship had come in.

That’s one way to put it.

So what, you running things now?

Damn right.

Well, pardon the disrespect. Here you go.

It’s totally untraceable, as per your request.

Perfect. And you’re clear on your part in this?

Crystal. I know exactly what you need me to do. And no worries, OK? Guy won’t know what hit him.

[tense music]

Holly doesn’t despise me. And I know she has every reason to be hurt, but I know she’ll come around.

Hmm. Wow. I admire your optimism, Eric, as misplaced as it is. You see, I’m certain, now that Holly knows how much of a chronic liar her mother is and that you are the drunken driver who deprived her of her father, that poor girl is not going to trust either of you ever again.

Good thing she has me to lean on, huh?

[tense music]

Holly? What the hell are you doing?

Excuse me.

You’re Brady Black, right?

I am. Who’s asking?

[jazzy piano music]

Cheesecake. And a very dry martini straight up with a twist.

The perfect pairing.

Anything else for you?

No, I’m all set. Thank you.

Okey-dokey. Well, just give me a holler if you change your mind.

[sighs]

Mm.

Sarah, darling, I brought you some tiramisu from–

[suspenseful music]

Sarah?

[ominous music] This is very odd. I wonder where she could have gone to this late.

[sighs]

[insects chirping]

Sarah. How did you get here?

The second that you left, I had Henderson bring the van around. And then I used location tracking to have the driver follow you here.

I see.

So much for Titan business. What are you really doing here?

[tense dramatic music]

Interview with BĂĄrbara Mori and Fernando Rovzar

TV Interview!

BĂĄrbara Mori and Fernando Rovzar of "Women in Blue" on Apple TV+

Interview with BĂĄrbara Mori and Fernando Rovzar of “Women in Blue” AKA “Las Azules” on Apple TV+ by Suzanne 9/18/24

This is such a wonderful series, and everyone should watch it. It takes places in 1970, when women were encouraged to join the police department in Mexico City, only to find that they’re being used for political reasons. The women then have to prove themselves in the search for a serial killer targeting young women. MarĂa, Valentina, Gabina and Ángeles are the focus of the show as we learn about each of them and how they work together. It’s intriguing both as a look back on how women were treated then, and as a riveting police drama.  Mori starts as MarĂa, so I was delighted to speak with her and Rovzar. He created and wrote the show, as well as directed some of the episodes. I didn’t know (until MarĂa mentioned it in this interview) that the two of them are married.  I was fascinated to learn more about the creation and filming of show after watching many of the episodes. I hope you enjoy our interview as well! Tomorrow is the series finale, so don’t miss it! It’s worth binge-watching.  If you don’t like to read subtitles, and you don’t know Spanish, you can watch it in English (dubbed). They have all of those options for you on Apple TV+, which is great. I prefer dubbed, myself.

Days of Our Lives Update

Days of Our Lives logo

Update written by Joseph

Johnny finishes his call with EJ at the DiMera Mansion. Chanel asks how he’s doing. Johnny responds that amazingly, EJ wasn’t hurt and Gabi sustained a few minor injuries but will be okay. Chanel says that Connie deserves to be in a straitjacket in a padded room. They talk about the condition of the house being okay. Johnny says they might have to restock the wine cellar. They talk about a restaurant they were at in Italy on the night they got married the first time. Johnny tells her that every occasion is special with her and they kiss. Chanel is happy they don’t have to move out because she could use some rest since tomorrow, she’s shooting her first scenes with Alex.

Alex and Bonnie sit together in the town square. Bonnie talks about how exciting it is for them to be shooting their first show and Alex is playing her son. Bonnie hopes Justin is negotiating his contract too. Bonnie talks about Kate trying to lowball her but says Justin is making sure she gets every penny she’s worth.

Justin is with Kate at the Body and Soul office. Justin explains that Bonnie is asking for an additional week’s vacation and to increase her rate which he thinks is reasonable. Justin asks Kate if they have a deal.

Abe goes to Stephanie’s apartment. Stephanie says she was just working on the Body and Soul press release, announcing them shooting their first episode. Abe says he came by to discuss something else that has to be done tonight.

Leo sits in his room at the Salem Inn, working on his Body and Soul script while talking about how much he loves the characters until Hattie shows up at his door. Leo asks if she shouldn’t be learning her lines. Hattie says she was at home but she needed to come talk to him and tells him that all of the scripts need to be completely rewritten which Leo questions. Hattie explains that she read all the scripts and put frowning faces on the ones she didn’t like and smiling faces on the ones she kind of liked, but then questioned how she would memorize them. Hattie then said she wouldn’t worry as they would all be rewritten. Leo questions what is wrong with her scenes. Hattie complains that Cassandra has too much of the storyline compared to her character, Charlemagne, and argues that she is the star of the show, so she should have most of the dialogue. Hattie warns that the audience will turn on the show if that’s not fixed. Leo questions her wanting him to rewrite all the scripts so that she has more dialogue. Hattie feels she’s doing him a favor since it would be improving the show and putting Bonnie in her place. Leo senses a rivalry between them. Hattie confirms there is ever since Bonnie became a super diva.

Alex asks Bonnie about Justin negotiating to get her a better deal. Bonnie guarantees that Justin will get her everything she asked for. Alex brings up the phrase that you can’t get blood from a stone, reminding Bonnie that the show is on a very tight budget. Bonnie argues that it’s a big production and that Body and Soul is a household brand so they have money to spend. Bonnie remarks that Kate will fold like a cheap lawn chair.

Kate tells Justin that she thinks they have a deal. Justin calls that fantastic and presents Kate the contract to sign, but Kate responds that the deal is to tell Bonnie to accept the original terms or they will find a new Cassandra.

Stephanie asks Abe what is so important that it has to be done tonight. Abe brings up Stephanie’s suggestion to do a cast photoshoot before the relaunch to go across social media and magazines. Stephanie remembers Abe telling her that they didn’t have enough money in the budget, so they couldn’t afford to do it. Abe responds that’s no longer the case. Stephanie asks if they found another investor. Abe reveals that he ran in to Eric today. Stephanie didn’t know he was in town. Abe says he’s in town to support Brady and that Eric very kindly offered to do the photoshoot pro-bono, so he scheduled it for tonight. Stephanie says that’s great and decides she should help wrangle the actors. Stephanie comments that their show has no shortage of larger than life characters.

Leo works over the script with Hattie and says he wants her to be happy, but he can’t just make changes as any rewrites need to be submitted and slows things down. Hattie argues that he should tell that to Bonnie and claims that she’s been making changes. Leo argues that no one told him and questions why anyone is making changes when they haven’t even started shooting yet. Hattie argues that Bonnie is while Leo says he doesn’t have time to make any changes that haven’t been approved. Hattie complains that they have to get their first week of relaunch right. Leo agrees to see what he can do but says he’s not making any promises.

Bonnie practices her lines with Alex. Alex praises her as a great actress. Bonnie mentions having all of her lines memorized already. Alex wishes he could say the same, but says what he’s really worried about is working alongside Chanel which Bonnie questions. Alex explains that they are supposed to be playing this hot, young couple crazy in love but in reality, there’s more than just tension between them.

Johnny asks Chanel about really dreading working with Alex. Chanel says he’s the last person on earth that she wants to spend 12 hours a day with after what happened with Allie. Johnny insists that’s all in the past and everything worked out for the best since Allie seems happy in her new life and Chanel does as well. Chanel assures that she is while Johnny calls himself the luckiest man on the planet as they kiss. Johnny reminds her that part of the reason she accepted the job was to spend every day with him. Chanel says she is grateful for that while Johnny jokes about getting to tell her what to do. They kiss until their phones go off with an e-mail from the studio. Johnny says it looks like last minute changes for the script and more pages have been added for tomorrow with Chanel and Alex. Chanel is shocked to learn that her and Alex’s characters, Faith and Arrow, are to have sex. Chanel argues that she was under the impression that they were star-crossed lovers while everything gets in the way and she thought the point was that they don’t have sex. Johnny says it wasn’t supposed to happen for months. Chanel complains that now it’s this week and she can’t believe she has to have a love scene with Alex right off the bat. Johnny points out that he has to direct it.

Bonnie questions Alex about Chanel blaming him for her and Allie’s breakup. Alex admits she has a slight reason to. Bonnie asks if Alex and Allie were together again after the threesome. Alex tells her to keep quiet since they are in Salem. Bonnie advises Alex to channel that emotion in to his performance in the tension with Chanel. Alex doesn’t think Faith should want to knee Arrow in the groin if she loves him. Bonnie talks about they can’t be together and that being the tension. Bonnie should feels they should see Arrow longing for Faith and encourages Alex to dig down deep to channel that heartbreak. Alex remarks that Bonnie has an innate sense for acting. Bonnie credits Johnny for telling her not to hold back in her audition. Bonnie insists that it turned out she has talent and that Justin will make sure Kate sees exactly that. Justin then arrives so Bonnie excitedly greets him and asks how it went. She asks if he had Kate begging for mercy but Justin says not exactly.

Abe joins Kate at the office and tells her that Stephanie is ready to organize the whole photoshoot. Kate questions if Eric is going to show up but Abe confirms that he texted with him. Kate informs Abe that Justin came by to revise Bonnie’s contract but she made it clear that was a no go.

Bonnie complains that Justin promised to get her a better deal. Justin apologizes and says Kate was adamant that the original deal was final, so he assumed she didn’t want to walk away. Bonnie confirms she doesn’t and feels like the character Cassandra is now a part of her, so she will take the deal because the show must go on. Hattie joins them and presents her stack of rewritten scripts. Bonnie questions all the changes, including Charlemagne pushing Cassandra in to her own birthday cake and Charlemagne hiring Cassandra as her intern. Bonnie questions who made these changes. Hattie says not to look at her as she didn’t do it, the head writer does. Hattie tells Bonnie that if she’s having problems, she should talk to Leo, who then comes out from the Salem Inn.

Chanel tells Johnny that she needs to talk to Leo and tell him that it’s way too soon for Faith and Arrow to be sleeping together. Chanel then gets a text from Stephanie about the last minute photoshoot with the entire cast of Body and Soul right now.

Stephanie joins Abe and Kate at the office and says that everyone is on their way to the studio for the photoshoot. Eric then arrives and greets them. Kate tells Eric how much they appreciate him doing this for them. Abe wishes they had enough money to pay him what he’s worth. Eric tells them not to worry as he’s just glad he could help as he knows how much Body and Soul means to them all. Eric jokes to remember him in their Emmy speech. Eric notes that the photoshoot seems pretty straightforward.

Bonnie questions Leo butchering the script to make her look like a buffoon and a doormat. Leo points out that it’s technically Cassandra and not her. Bonnie and Hattie then get the text abou the photoshoot. They say they are ready for their close up. Justin wishes Bonnie luck and tells her to have fun as he walks away. Bonnie offers Alex a ride and asks Hattie if she’s coming. Leo stops Hattie and argues that he did her several favors and she threw him under the bus. Hattie remarks that’s showbiz and says it’s always the writer that takes the blame. Hattie then goes to join Bonnie and Alex.

Leo returns to his room at the Salem Inn, complaining that he tried to be helpful and this is the thanks he gets. Johnny then shows up at his door and says he was just reading the rewrites on the Faith and Arrow love scene which Leo calls pretty steamy. Leo goes over what he was thinking and says he doesn’t know how to tell Johnny how to do his job because even an amateur can make Alex look on fire. Johnny thinks it’s a little too soon for them to be having sex. Leo argues that all of his favorite movies have wild sex scenes in the first 6-7 minutes. Johnny says he’s talking about this story on this show and quotes Agnes Nixon in that you have to make them laugh, cry, and wait but Leo doesn’t care. Johnny asks Leo if he would consider rewriting that scene. Leo calls it an important and pivotal scene so he refuses, declaring no more rewrites.

Stephanie talks to Kate about finishing the photoshoot tonight as Hattie and Bonnie arrive. Kate tells them they are up first but Bonnie wants a word with Kate first, arguing that Leo has gone rogue and asks if she’s seen all the rewrites. Hattie argues that they have to get going, so Stephanie takes Bonnie to wardrobe.

Abe finds Justin in the town square and tells him that he’s very sorry about the Bonnie contract situation, but Kate is in charge of everything going in to the budget and she doesn’t allow any wiggle room. Justin says it’s been a few years since Abe was on the police force and guesses he never forgets how to do good cop, bad cop. Abe supposes that’s right and says they would like to give everyone a big raise if they had the money. Abe believes they should pay everyone their worth. Justin calls that very good of him. Abe states that when the show gets on the air and becomes a big hit, then they can revisit the Bonnie contract situation.

Bonnie gets dressed for the photoshoot. Stephanie and Kate praise her as looking stunning as Cassandra. Eric directs her to just be herself in character for the photoshoot. Eric takes photos of Bonnie, encouraging her until Hattie arrives wearing the same dress. Hattie and Bonnie question what they are wearing. Bonnie calls it ridiculous and tells Hattie to go change but she refuses. Bonnie declares that Hatttie won’t steal her thunder and demands that she take the dress off but Hattie still refuses. Bonnie and Hattie then begin fighting as Stephanie, Kate, and Eric watch in shock. Chanel arrives for the photoshoot and Kate tells her that she looks perfect. Chanel comments on the clothing rack while Stephanie brings her over to Eric for the photoshoot. Eric directs Chanel to just be natural. Alex then arrives, so Chanel tries to leave but Kate wants pictures of them together.

Leo lays in bed, wondering if he should order a Gloria Estefan onesie. Bonnie then shows up at his door and argues that she knows Hattie put him up to the changes. Leo claims he did it himself since he is the head writer and has the power. Bonnie argues that the success of the show stops with him if he lets Hattie bully him in to ruining her character, because if he does, she quits. Leo argues that she can’t do that. Bonnie says she will unless he undoes the rewrites right now.

Eric directs Alex and Chanel’s photoshoot, having Alex look in to Chanel’s eyes and put his arm around her. Chanel asks if Alex saw the rewrites about their characters having sex. Alex agrees that it’s a little rushed and was thinking about asking Abe and Kate to pull it back a bit. Eric directs Chanel to look in to Alex’s eyes and act like she wants him to hold her closer as Stephanie and Kate watch on. Chanel admits to Alex that she’s a bit surprised. Alex asks if she thought he would jump at the chance to pretend jump her bones, remarking that he may have been a player in real life but this is acting and what’s on the screen isn’t real. Alex adds that it only matters that the audience thinks it’s real. Kate then requests that Alex remove his leather jacket.

Hattie runs in to Abe in the town square and tells him that he has to fire Bonnie, because she can’t even act which Abe questions. Hattie declares it’s Bonnie or her.

Eric continues taking photos of Chanel and Alex, calling it perfect and sexy. Kate remarks that it’s not sexy enough and directs Chanel to put her hand on Alex’s chest, so they can see the heat between them. Johnny then arrives and sees them together as Eric encourages them being sexy.

She hoped that Justin worked out a good deal for him the way she did with her. Alex told her that the show was on a tight budget. Justin told Kate about Bonnie’s negotiations. Kate warned him that Bonnie had to accept the original terms, or they would find a new actress for the role of Cassandra. Hattie went to Leo’s place with a lot of scripts. Justin arrived and told Bonnie that Kate wouldn’t budge from the original deal. She was disappointed, but she couldn’t walk away from the role. Hattie arrived at the town square with changes to the script that make Cassandra look bad. Bonnie demanded to know who made the changes. Hattie finally admitted that Leo made the changes. Bonnie yelled at Leo. The actors got an alert about a photo shoot. They were about to leave when Leo stopped Hattie. He couldn’t believe she threw him under the bus with Bonnie. She dismissed his concerns because it was show business and writers get the blame for things.

He wanted him to rewrite Chanel and Alex’s love scenes because they were happening too soon. Leo refused to do that. He started to relax when Bonnie pounded on Leo’s door demanding he rewrite the script, or she would quit. Hattie found Abe and told him that Bonnie had to quit, or she would. Chanel posed in a sexy baby doll dress. Alex showed up wearing a black leather jacket without a shirt on. They made a stiff pose when Eric stepped in. He told them what to do to make the photo work. Eric told them to stare into each other’s eyes, and Kate wanted her to touch Alex’s chest. Johnny walked in the room and saw their closeness.

Recap written by Michele and Cheryl

EJ sat by Gabi’s side at the hospital. He thought she needed rest, but she didn’t want him to leave. Gabi couldn’t believe that Connie tried to kill her. She thought Connie would have pulled her plan off if it weren’t for him. Gabi wondered how EJ knew they were in the tunnels. He said he got lucky. EJ spotted blood on the fireplace poker and saw the door open. She was grateful he did and hugged him. Gabi apologized for getting emotional. EJ thought she was allowed after what she went through. She admitted that she thought about Arianna in that time. Gabi was afraid she would never see her daughter again. EJ asked her if she wanted him to call Will and Sonny to tell them what happened. She wanted to make the call when she felt stronger. EJ told her about his conversation with Stefan. He let her know that Stefan thought they had sex that morning. EJ left Stefan hanging, but he couldn’t rock the boat too much since he has him over a barrel. Gabi informed him that Stefan planned to get revenge. She wanted to know what he did. EJ explained what happened to her about Nicole’s kidnapping, and Paulina wanting to fire him. Gabi decided to tell Stefan that they didn’t have sex the second time to see if it would help. She owed him that much. Ava let Stefan know there was an APB out for Connie. While she bandaged him up, she acknowledged how he saved her life. She would never forget that he put his life on the line for her. He was there to apologize for what he said earlier. She was willing to forgive him after what he did for her. Ava wanted him to go to the hospital to get checked out.

Connie tried to sneak out of the pub, but Jada was behind her. She put her gun on Connie and demanded her to drop the knife. Connie dropped the knife, and Jada placed her under arrest. She wondered how Jada found her. Jada told her that she traced Gabi’s phone. She told her that Gabi and Melinda were still alive. Jada bagged up the knife and wondered whose blood was on it. Stefan and Ava showed up, and he said the blood was his. They talked to her about what happened with Connie. Jada told them she would need their statements. She wanted to take Connie to the station. Later, Jada brought Connie to the station. She saw Li’s cardboard cutout. Connie wondered why Li was at the station. She wondered if he was getting arrested too. Jada sarcastically told her that cutouts couldn’t get arrested. He was evidence. Connie didn’t think she did anything wrong. Jada recited what she did wrong. Gabi wondered if there was any news on Connie. EJ stepped into the hall to make calls when Stefan and Ava arrived at the hospital. He asked Stefan what happened to him. Stefan told him what happened. EJ told him that Connie tried to kill Gabi and Melinda too. Stefan rushed to Gabi’s room. EJ realized he was still in love with Gabi. He told Ava what Connie did. Ava wondered if Melinda was at the hospital too. She owed her an apology. Stefan rushed to Gabi’s side. He was grateful she was okay. They hugged until Stefan backed up. He wanted to know how badly she was hurt. She was okay except for some cuts and bruises. He apologized for not being there for her. Stefan wished he knew what Connie was up to, but she told him nobody knew about it. She told him that Connie killed Li and framed her for it. Gabi wanted to know what happened to his arm. He told her about the events at the pub. Stefan explained that he was only there to apologize for what happened at the Bistro. Gabi got upset when she realized he hired Ava to work at the Bistro. She didn’t understand why he would apologize to her. He told her about what happened with EJ and that he didn’t deny that they slept together. Stefan admitted that he wanted to even the score by sleeping with Ava. Gabi got upset with him, but he said she slept with his brother twice. She admitted that it was only once. Gabi lied about sleeping with EJ again. Stefan said she didn’t want to make their marriage work. Gabi told him that she still didn’t want to make it work and wanted him to get out of her room. Stefan walked out of the room.
