If you like compelling stories, along with a side of feminism and serial killer drama, you should love this show. It drops Wednesday, August 12 and runs for 8 exciting episodes until September 30. If you haven’t watched the first season, you’re already missing out. It’s worth watching. However, you won’t be totally lost if you watch the second season without catching up on the first. You can just read summaries online of the first season, too.
I enjoyed speaking with the two actresses Mori and Sariñana, and showrunner Rovzar. They had quite a lot to say about this highly entertaining show. It’s as good as any police drama you’ve seen elsewhere.

“Women in Blue” (“Las Azules”) season two will make its global debut with the first episode on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 on Apple TV, followed by one episode weekly through September 30.
“Women in Blue” (“Las Azules”) season two will follow María (Bárbara Mori), now promoted to lieutenant, as she finds herself torn between the rules she’s sworn to uphold and a relentless pull towards the truth when the body of a student activist is discovered, and the Azules are pulled into an investigation that reaches back to the student massacre of 1968. Before they can make sense of what they’ve found, the body of a person connected to that brutal chapter of history is found, sending shockwaves through the department. Someone is delivering justice straight to the police’s door, and the Azules are the department’s last hope of stopping the killer. As María, Valentina (Natalia Téllez), Gabina (Amorita Rasgado), and Ángeles (Ximena Sariñana) fight battles both inside and outside the precinct, buried truths rise to the surface and they’re forced to confront an uncomfortable question: in a system plagued with corruption, what is the cost of fighting for their ideals?

Bárbara Mori stars as María in the Apple TV+ Spanish-language crime drama series Las Azules (internationally titled Women in Blue). Set in 1970 and inspired by true events, the show follows four women who defy conservative societal norms to join Mexico’s first female police force. They quickly realize their squad is a political publicity stunt designed to distract the public from a brutal serial killer.
Mori plays María, a devoted wife who discovers her true calling after uncovering her husband’s infidelity, pushing her to join the police force. By season two, she is promoted to lieutenant. Beyond acting, Mori was deeply involved in the production, collaborating closely in the writers’ room to help shape the trajectory and depth of her character.
Ximena Sariñana is a Mexican singer-songwriter and actress who starred as Ángeles in the Apple TV+ crime series Las Azules (Women in Blue). She is widely recognized for her dual career in Latin American film/television and alternative pop music.
She plays Ángeles in the 2024 Apple TV+ series about Mexico’s first female police force in the 1970s. Her character navigates working in a rigid, male-dominated era while dealing with traits on the autism spectrum before it was widely diagnosed. Season 2 premieres on August 12, 2026, following the team into an investigation connected to the 1968 student movement.
Fernando Rovzar is a prominent Mexican producer, director, writer, and showrunner who co-founded the highly successful production company Lemon Studios. Born on January 24, 1980, in Mexico City, Mexico, he has spent over two decades shaping the landscape of modern Mexican cinema and television. He is known for producing massive box-office hits, directing critically acclaimed television series, and creating premium streaming content for global platforms like Apple TV+, Netflix, and HBO.
